Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio. Let's go, Let's go go,
Let's go just like you had it the whole time,
right Tennessee making a run? Yeah, I had I think
I said that last week. I said I like the
Titans Uh in a blowout? Did I not? I gotta,
I gotta be honest with you, today's games were a
(00:23):
hell of a ride. To be honest with you, I
don't know, Arnie, as we come to you live tonight
from the Getico Fox Sports Radio studios, where fifteen minutes
could save you fifteen or more on car insurance. Visit
guyo dot com for a free rate quote. I know
we've got a lot to get to from the texts
are from the text and yeah, but from the Chiefs
come back and domination, we've got a lot about just
the consistent seat tonight of of Aaron Rodgers in Green
(00:46):
Bay holding off a late rally by Seattle. But come on,
this whole NFL playoffs, this whole mindset of things were
just so easy to to understand and easy to predict.
I mean, this is all about the Titans setting everything
on their year right now, isn't it? The Well? First
of all, yeah, that was fantastic, But I just wanted
to ask you a quick question. Did you think the
(01:06):
game was over when it was the Texas twenty four nothing? Today,
I'm like this said over then? Why why are you
trying to take away our shine from the Titans? Why
are you throwing it right to the Chiefs? And how
the Texans laid down for him already? Come on, forget
about those chokers in Houston that had everything loud laid
out in front of him. They and they panicked after
they kicked the field goal. They tried to go for
(01:27):
a horrific fake punt. They got it, They knew what
was coming. They saw it, every single one of us saw.
They got too conservative when they didn't go for it,
and then the Chiefs got left Lane hammered down, momentum
couldn't stop him. I would be i rate today if
I was a Texan fan. I was trying to hold
off and be get a little soft launch into this
and talk about the Titans a little bit. But what's
your world? Let's go. Let's all right. First of all,
(01:48):
when it was twenty one nothing, they should have gone
forth to to try to go and pick up the
first own and make a twenty eight to nothing. Yeah,
you can't go ahead kick the field goal at twenty
four nothing, that's still a pretty good lead. And then
what three minutes later that it's not even enough time
for me to go to the bathroom. We need a sandwich.
I come back and what the heck is going on?
Did anybody think that game was over? Twenty four nothing?
(02:10):
No way, no how? And at halftime you knew the
Chiefs were gonna win that game. Well when they when
they took a lead, it was over. It was ballgame.
But I know you're not gonna believe me when I
say this, But after they kicked the field goal, after
the field goal, and then the Chiefs went two plays
forty two yards for a score on the big kickoff
(02:32):
return by uh, I don't remember who it was, but
I think it was I think it was Hardman that
had the big Miko Hardman. Yeah, I had the big
kickoff return as soon as they scored right there, and
it lasted, like I want to say, maybe a minute.
Maybe it's like a second drive. I've been I I've
watched about every game in the a f C West
(02:53):
over the last three years. Aren'tie two of those with
Patrick Mahomes and quarterback for Kansas City. I knew what
was coming. I thought Houston might be able to curb
it a little bit, because you know, they've got a
pretty good defense, They've got some big time playmakers there.
But man, they weren't it. They weren't able to do anything.
They couldn't do anything right, from coaching to tackling Shan
(03:13):
Watson on that loss, Like everybody else is on Twitter,
I hope not, because he didn't have any interceptions, do touchdowns,
almost four in year yards passing and he get did
get him out to twenty four nothing lead, which should
have been enough to maybe maneuver around at least keep
it close. But I wouldn't even close at that point.
What can we kind of deep dive into this at
some point tonight, Arnie, I don't know if it's a
(03:33):
good way to kick off the show. And we're gonna
talk to Buck Rising coming up here in just a bit.
He's been all over the place covering the Titans, and
I'm excited to talk to my We might be the
last people he talks to before he finally just just
runs out of gas. This dude has been going NonStop
and I love him. So we'll talk to Buck Rising
about this Titans game here in just a bit. But
why is our usual first? And I get it all
(03:55):
the quarterback gets all the praise and they always get
all the blame. But I feel like in two losses
over the last twenty four hours, we've taken a finger
and put a scarlet letter around the neck of two quarterbacks.
I don't think are to blame for their team's losses.
If we're gonna fight and scratch and claw about quarterback wins, oh,
that's not a scat you people that try to throw
quarterback wins in our face, how dare you? Well man?
(04:18):
Y'all sure are quick to point a finger whenever a
quarterback isn't in in the mix for a winning team.
In other words, I didn't think Deshaun Watson did anything
to cost Houston the game today, And if you did,
you're an idiot. Will take him in Vegas? That's fine,
I mean, if you if you want to move on
and start from scratch Aarnie, I'm old enough to remember
Tom Savage being the starting quarterback for the Houston Texas.
(04:39):
Shut up, And I don't know why one bad performance
by the Ravens is suddenly indicative of now Lamar Jackson
isn't able to lead the charge, and that's what damn
good Titan defense. Somebody put out a stat if you
go back to him in college, in the bowl games
and the playoffs, it doesn't come out very favorable. Are
you trying to tell me that when the playoffs come
(04:59):
around next year, you're not gonna bring up, well, he's
a good quarterback, but once he's done in the playoffs,
you're not gonna bring that up next year. Probably not.
Yes you will, Yes you will. Why I mean I
the Titans kicked their ass and I don't think it.
I don't think there was anything that they could have done.
The Titans had the kind of start that Baltimore needed,
and we have consistently and constantly underrated the need to
(05:24):
run the football. Everyone loved and you love the big
status yard, he sucks. No, you gotta have a good
defense and run the football in the playoffs, and we
thought the Ravens could do it. But the Titans kicked
their ass. And if you're gonna say, well, he hasn't
won a playoff game yet, that's fine. I'll just be
right next year and when he does, and you can
continue to say. That's not my criticism though, of Lamar Jackson.
My criticism of Lamar Jackson is when the Titans even
(05:46):
got out to a seven nothing the lead and it
started the snowball after that, this guy had the worst
body language I've ever seen in my life. If they
were looking for him to lead him back to to
come from behind they were getting, you know, they were
probably like, oh, my goodness. I mean he dropped an
F bomb after one of the touchdowns. You saw him
on the sideline. I'm sure you saw that. He's like, oh,
when they threw the jump pass, He's like, what the
(06:06):
blank was that? Um? He had bad body language, and
he looked like he was dejected and getting down on
himself and the team when they got behind. I didn't
think they unlike the Kansas City Chiefs, I never thought
that the Ravens were gonna come back and win that game. Well,
the Chiefs have a passing based offense. The Ravens have
been a run based offense from day one, so you
(06:27):
kind of thought they were in trouble when it was
seven zero. But I don't I don't get this idea
of getting caught up in body language because if he was,
would you be ripping his ass right now? If he
was over high five and everyone and smiling when they
were down fourteensip, you bet you would. I mean, Aaron
Rodgers has horrific body language every time something goes wrong. Well,
(06:47):
but but he's a young guy. He has to not
let it get to him. And it felt like it
got to him when they were down and I'm like, oh,
he's unraveling right in front of us. He's unwrathed like
I don't know, ask Twitter. It looked like Lamar Jackson
was completely unraveling when it was always seven nothing or
four tea nothing. Well, Artie, I'll say this much. I'm
willing to forgive if a dude gets pod because his
(07:11):
team gets punched in the mouth. I'm okay with that.
That that was a snowball that got going downhill and
they could never stop it last night. But if you
want to blame Lamar Jackson Ford and pin it on him,
oh no, no, I'm not pinning it on him. I
just said bad body language, and he's got to be
more of a leader now. Has for statistics, he had
good statistics, but with the two interceptions on one funball. Um,
(07:33):
you don't have to look anymore than that. That's that's
the you know, that's the killer right now, I think,
and I know you don't like this because you want
to You want people buried after one bad performance and
you want people in the Hall of Fame after a
good quarter. That's the difference between you and me. Um.
I think he can still be a great quarterback and
have a bad outing, and they can be the same
(07:56):
from a mindset perspective, and you don't have to be
just a hundred miles an hour one way, are hundred
miles an hour or the other? He can still be
a really, really good quarterback. He's probably gonna be the
m v P of the league this year and they
had a bad night. It doesn't mean he sucks all
of a sudden, No, it doesn't. Well, let me ask
you this, if the MVP voting extended through the playoffs,
do you still think he would win m VP. I
(08:19):
don't really know how close it would be, but I
would probably say Derrick Henry would be getting a little
bit more love. I would agree with you. I would
agree with you on that at all. So I would
I would I would agree that on that. And by
the way, do you think a little bit less now
of Lamar Jackson after that playoff performance? Do I? I
think everyone thinks immediately worse if someone after they lose,
(08:41):
don't you don't you agree? Is that? Isn't that life
right now? But here's here's where I think you and
I differ. I think everyone's been looking for a reason
to pick apart Lamar Jackson. I'm telling you I think
they are, and I'm not sitting here trying to tell
you that he's then it's a next wave of quarterback
and you've got to be able to run a four
(09:03):
or four or for to you, you you can't quarterback in
this league. I don't disagree, but I do think that
this success that he's had in what can we say,
like a year and a half as a starter, it's
led a lot of people to look really stupid that
wanted him to be something other than a quarterback. And
I think that so many people have questioned, oh, I
see he can't he can't do this, he can't do that.
When they fall behind there in trouble, I think they're
(09:24):
more apt to jump on this and say, oh, see
told you, told you, and so I think we've kind
of been look in the Royal. We have been looking
for a reason to try to pick him apart. I
don't want to defend him. I'm not here to defend him,
but I just feel like it's kind of when Baker
started to struggle. Everything's a snowball going downhill, and it
ends with they're just they're what we thought they were
and they're not a complete player. And I think that's
(09:44):
what you're getting more with Lamar Jackson and then truly
evaluating what happened last night. Well, Jedi too, right off
the bat on, if you want to go ahead and
look out, Twitter says, Plank, stop it. You have to
keep your composure with the good and the bad. Look
at my homes. Yeah, that's what I told you, trying
to explain to you, Chris. They you know, he had
bad body language and he was part of the problem there. No,
(10:06):
you're absolutely right. But if we're gonna start gauging guys
on body language, I think the camera is constantly on
them and it's just you're a few guys saw them
smiling and talking to teammates. You're all a little Jedi
and Arnie, you'd all be destroying him. You don't have
to look at his body language, Arnie, you have to
look at his turnovers, anything else that here every not
(10:28):
only agreeing with me, Chris, the I T guy, You're
right to extend some EXPERI right to some extent. Get
the quote right. He should have had the attitude of
Russell Wilson and telling his team they're not out of it.
Frank says, since the show is tonight, it's fair to
single Mark Jackson equals Clayton Kershaw. Uh, you know, and
(10:48):
people totally agreeing with me on that, listen, Paul says,
don't even look at the body language. Look at the
two interceptions in the fumble and then owing two records
in the playoffs. What I just said, let the pie
wing begin, Chris, Let the bilay begin. Yeah, it's easy
to do. It's easy. I'd still take him over just
about any quarterback in the league to run that offense. Watson,
Jimmy g R. Lamar pick one right now, mahomes Well,
(11:13):
that you just you You just told me you were
just gonna pick them over anybody. You had no problem
pick at Bolbs. Listen, I'm not fighting with you and
dying on the hill. Of Lamar Jackson tonight. But you
know that's not what I said. So I'm just telling
you right now, if you're gonna base it on body language,
he's I disagree. Who cares about body language on the
(11:35):
sidelines because the camera isn't on him the whole time
and sideline reporters anymore. Sorry y'all, but just stink. You
don't really give us updates on what's going on. You
come on one time and be like, yeah, they're okay.
The only one that even does their job correctly anymore
is the uh, the NBC crew. But yeah, if you're
gonna say, yeah, the one time that I saw him
(11:56):
on the sideline, he was mad already, come on, you
know better than that. They're gonna to show you those
dramatic moments. You're not watching every I don't think Lamar
Jackson is in a huddle with his offensive lightenment and
his defensive guys going yeah, we steak, we're done, We're
out of here, let's just pack it all up. I mean,
do you believe that, because that's what you're saying right now.
You're saying he's going to everyone, He's like, we're done.
I'm gonna go to locker I'm gonna party. We're gonna
(12:17):
have a club l in the locker room instead of
a club dub like the marrig But when you give
up basically what you're saying, no, But when you get
bad body language and and the rest of the team
sees that they feel like they're not coming back, you've
got you've got to be like a Russell Wilson. You've
got to go ahead and say, hey, we're coming back.
You gotta be like Mahomes and say we're still gonna
win this game. I think he started to fall apart
a little bit. There is something to that because, like
(12:39):
I said, a lot of people on Twitter agree with
me that, I don't know if you saw the exact
moment when he dropped like the bomb or um, you
know other stuff. It really was telling with this body.
I don't know. Maybe you missed that one second was
I don't know. I might have missed that one second
bad body language. If you would have told me Lamar
Jackson had to throw the ball FI nine times, I
(13:00):
would have told you that the Ravens were gonna get
their butts kicked. I think everyone would have agreed with that.
But if you're gonna tell me that this comes down
to his body language. Get out of here with that, Yeah,
because it has nothing to do with the Titans, does it.
You're part of the problem here. You're part of every
person who wants to spend more time complaining about Lamar
(13:22):
Jackson and what Lamar Jackson can't do and what he
didn't do. I mean, hell, Annie, you're reaching to complain
about his body language. No one wants to stop for
a minute and say the Titans buried them, period discussion.
I think we could go over the entire a D
eight yards passing by Tannehill yard by yard. It's not
that much, and we can break it down yard by yard, Arnie, Okay,
(13:43):
Then let's go over the two seventeen yards rushing that
they had and the one ninety five on thirty carries
from Derrick Henry. Again, you should be all over Lamar Jackson.
If you're gonna be a stat dork on this one,
I mean, come on. They dominated them in every aspect
of the game. Time of possession was the only area that,
believe it or not, they lost. And you want to
(14:04):
sit here and complain about someone's body language. How about
the Titans defense beating them into submission. That's why the
Ravens lost, not because Lamar looked pouty. Well that in
the over four and two of those over over four
and fourth down and two of those plays I had me.
I had my head scratch and go, what what are
you doing? What are you doing for crying out loud?
(14:26):
I mean, my goodness, man, he's like running around in
the backfield like he has to pick up fifteen yards
when he has to pick up two inches. They did
make some roof roan. I still find this interesting. I
think this is you having a chip on your shoulder
against Titan fans. I don't know why you're not trying
to expect. Don't let play Travis here about that. I
want to open the show talking about the Titans, you
(14:47):
immediately turn it to the Texans and choking. I try
to give the Titans some credit. It's all about Lamar
Jackson's body language. Wow. Well, well, you know what, I'm
gonna show the Titans some respect because when we come back,
Buck Rising covers the Titans for eight do z e
Sports and Nashville will get his perspective on the game.
And the next hour, Arnie did your fifty team parlay
(15:08):
hit Todd Firm and will join us from Vegas to
get us all the scoop, and then a late night
hit from Pete Pokowski coming up later. It's already in
Plank on a fight sty Sunday night here on Fox
Sports Radio. Pretty wild twenty four hours for Titan fans.
As we welcome you back to Arnie and Plank on
Fox Sports Radio. Let's head straight to Nashville. Buck Rising
(15:28):
joins us. He covers the Titans for eight do Z
Sports in Nashville. Uh. He and Jason Martin have been
all over this Titans win last night. Buck. I know
that it wasn't the smoothest ride throughout the season for
the Titans, But when was a moment maybe where you thought, okay,
this team might have a run in it? Was there
a moment you can single out this year? Oh wow?
(15:49):
I mean in a little bit of poetic justice. And
I appreciate you guys having me. When they beat the
Kansas City Chiefs earlier in the regular season here in Nashville,
they blocked the field goal. Uh that was right after
right around the time that they made the quarterback change.
They just lost to Carolina and they needed that win
to stay alive in the a f C, and we're
(16:11):
able to scratch their way out. Even though Mahomes came
in here and through for the most most passing yards
than anybody has in uh in Nissan Stadium history. They
survived it, and they started scoring at a rate that
we have not seen Tennessee Titans offenses score in quite
some time. It's been it's been quite refreshing as somebody
(16:31):
who who watches all of their games and doesn't always
have the ability to change the channel. Eight yards passing
for Ryan Tannehill eight yards that's twice now back to
back list than a hundred yards passing it It's beyond explanation.
How do you explain that list than a hundred yards
and still winning because they have Optimus Prime at running
(16:54):
back and now he can and he can throw touchdown passes.
I I don't know what to make of this, and
I mean, honestly, as we've seen kind of them, them
go more towards Derrick Henry because there was a time
last year when David flew Ellen, who was a core
special teamer, was getting snaps over that dude that was
(17:16):
he flew well and hurt his knee against the Patriots.
That was when they upset them here in Nashville in
the regular season, and that was when Derrick Henry really
started to come on. Since they've had Tannehill in the
lineup and added him really as more of an ancillary
piece to the running back, all things flow through Derrick Henry.
They've found a way to survive and and honestly, uh
(17:39):
they've shown that they can do it either way, because
the most explosive part of the Titans offense wasn't Derrick
Henry throughout the course of the regular season. It was
the ability of Tannehill to make massive plays uh on
on on play action passes because everybody's selling out to
stop the running back and you know, listen, you'll take
you'll take eight, y'all. If he's throwing forty five yard
(18:02):
touchdown bombs to Calife Raymond, nobody outside of Nashville has
heard of, and even a few people in Nashville probably
still scratching their heads to who that number four team
was last night. You know, it's it's kind of wild.
And I brought this up here as a team that
was sitting at two and four, you know, and and
pretty much had been written off by everyone, but they
just they kept finding a way. And then when they
(18:23):
that was about the point where they went all in
on Tannehill. And again, like you said, it's not as
if he's been out there having four yard games, three
touchdown performances, but Buck, it just seems as if it
changed kind of the attitude a little bit, you know,
where here was a team that maybe had lost a
little confidence in Marcus Mariota. But did Tannehill help kind
of re engineer that or was that more Mike Rabel
(18:45):
and something he did. Uh, Well, I think I think
a little of both, because that's it started with the
transition from Mike Malarkey to Mike Rabel, because that was
why the whole coaching change, uh was made. Initially, they
didn't feel like they were maximizing the ability of Marcus
Mariota in this particular offense. And John Robin said, Okay.
(19:08):
John Robinson, who's the general manager here, said Okay, I'm
gonna go out and find somebody I know who's going
to do the things that I think are necessary to
get the best out of the players that I think
are good because I'm the one who's picked them, uh,
And then after with with Marcus coming into this year
on his fifth year option, UH, ending last season the
way that he did as a as a scratch in
(19:30):
a win and in Week seventeen, he really lost a
lot of people, a lot of Titans fans here in Nashville.
And I don't think that's necessarily fair to him, because
when your body fails you, your body fails you. And
there was legitimate like issues he was having with the
ulner nerve and a little bit of a nerve damage
that he was dealing with at the end of last season.
(19:50):
But when they made the change, Tannehill is not the
most you know, overt fiery leader type, but it has
made a good deal of difference because he's just he's
playing with house money, uh in a way that's allowing
him to play more freely and honestly. With Marcus Mariotta.
(20:11):
The the pressure that he was under was permeating the
Titans offense and it was causing him to do things
like when he was benched in Week six against the Broncos, uh,
you know, self sacking him when they were only self
sacking himself when he was when they were only bringing
two man pressures and just kind of running into von
Miller because he wasn't he wasn't seeing what he was
(20:34):
supposed to be seeing. The offense was constipated under Marcus Mariotta,
under Tannehill, they've had a bit of an enema. I
love it, but you know, if tedde Hill is playing
with house money, then they're playing blackjack and they hit
on fifteen and they just got a seven because they're
playing Kansas City and there's no way they could keep
up with Kansas City offensively, right, I mean, they're especially
(20:57):
running the ball. They're gonna have to have those long drives.
We what Kansas City did today. I don't see how
tennesse he could keep up with them. Listen, I I
gave them a ten percent chance to win that game
last night when I was when I was on with
Mel Kuyper earlier earlier in the day, and I h
they continue to stick their face into the buzz saw
(21:18):
and come out clean on the other side. Going to
New England in the middle of in the middle of
winter storm Henry literally that was hitting Boston when we
were up there on Derrick Henry's birthday and Derek having
the game that he did. I don't think it's necessarily
about keeping up with Kansas City because the biggest change
(21:38):
in them, honestly has been the red zone defense. They
allowed the Ravens to go up and down the field
on them yesterday, and because they were able to come
away with them, uh four fourth down stops with which
the Ravens have been going for all throughout the course
of the season, they were able to to lock things down.
And that's not necessarily something that has been the case
(22:00):
since the quarterback changed. The defense was able to lay
off a little bit after starting the season so strong
because they had to be because Marcus Mariotta couldn't get
the offense into the end zone or in the into
the red zone. Uh. And it's just been kind of
this ebb and flow. I would I honestly, I would
be shocked to see them pull it off at Kansas City,
and I'll be there to cover it. Um And I
(22:21):
like working in January. It's a refreshing thing here in Nashville,
no doubt about that. But um, it's it's it's certainly
something one would struggle to find to see them keeping
up with Kansas City. But again, they're winning, They're winning
playoff games with this quarterback not even not a hundred yards,
not even ninety yards, and they've still got a J.
Brown who they have yet to use in this playoff
(22:43):
really at all? Hey, Buck, real quick before we let
you run? Is this just kind of a captain obvious
thing to say that this team has really bought into
Mike Vrabel's personality news coaching style. Not if it's true.
I mean, you know you can. You can make sure
you can. You can make fun of h coach speak
and football cliches all you want. God knows I do
(23:04):
every time I should through one of these press conferences. Um,
but I do think there is there is, legitimately something
that you cannot quantify, that you cannot find in the analytics.
I mean, for God's sake, in a in a time
when running the football is supposed to be dead, the
Tennessee Titans are out here doing it with Derrick Henry
and telling everybody to shove it. I don't think. I
(23:26):
don't think it can be uh. I don't think it
can be underestimated, because I really do think there's something
unique going on here in Nashville, and it's it's certainly
been fun to watch over the course of the season.
Buck I know you've been going like crazy. We appreciate
your time. Thank you so much for coming on and
giving us the perspective on this incredible runs. Hell yeah,
happy to talk shop Moore. This is a good time
(23:46):
to do it. See man, Hey, great news. There's a
quick and easy way you could save money. Switched to Geico.
It only takes fifteen minutes to see if you could
say fifteen percent or more on car insurance. Go to
Geico dot com and see how much you could say.
That's Buck Rising covers the Titans from four eight do Z.
Sports almost set from eight Z. I guess he does
that too. But Steve Zeger cover sports from eight to Z.
He's in the house with everything going on today in
(24:08):
the world of sports, including the championship games being set.
What hello, gentlemen, and you know if Arnie Spaniards on
the air. Of course, the Arizona Wildcacer State I will quit.
Can we can? No way we lose to them. Okay,
right now on FS one ranked Arizona and College hoops
is tied at Oregon State forty nine. All that sounds bad,
(24:31):
but each team is eleven and four coming in just
for the record. Come on, we had NFL playoff wins
for Green Bay in Kansas City. You know already we
talked about that Bill Cower into the Hall of Fame
thing last night, and it was great television to see
him surprise him at the set on the pregame show
last night, and they got all the emotion and then
some that they expected. And then same thing happened on
(24:51):
the Fox lot before this game that Fox carried tonight,
uh Seattle by the way at Green Bay tonight with
the Packers advancing, but Jimmy Johnson gets the announcement in
person from the Hall of Fame that he the Radio
Hall of Famers. Now, well, there are a lot of
slots this year, it's a twenty man class for but
last night we mentioned how there was a comment in
(25:13):
the hallway yesterday here at our studios. As soon as
Bill Cower's name was mentioned, somebody said, well, I guess
that means Mike Tomlin's going in one day, because their
career resumes with the Steelers are shockingly similar. As for
Jimmy Johnson, he had nine pro football years. This is
the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Cowboys and Dolphins. He
had two Super Bowl wins. Tom Flores had nine years
(25:36):
with the Raiders, two Super Bowl wins, and Flores is
still waiting Jimmy Johnson's winning percentage in the Pros five
fifty six. Tom Flores was six ten with the Raiders.
Of course, Flores had a really bad Seattle team in
the nineties his last three years as a coach. Everybody
had bad years in the nineties with Seattle. I hope
that's not what's holding him back, but it's just it's
(25:58):
just a little odd to me. Jim's or years when
that would be after that exactly that that was the problem.
As for the actual game in Green Bay, it was
Packers three over Seattle. You know, we had that huge
comeback earlier with Kansas City beating Houston, and then we
had Seattle down late third quarter and nearly came back.
(26:18):
But no, there still haven't been multiple huge comebacks in
any single postseason in the history of the league. We
almost had two in the same day. But Green Bay's
Davante Adams set a Packers record for hundred sixty receiving
yards in a playoff game. He had eight catches, two
for scores. Russell Wilson was sacked five times. San Francisco
will host the NFC title game on Fox TV next Sunday,
(26:39):
six thirty pm Eastern Time against Green Bay. Kansas City
was down twenty four nothing in the second quarter and
then scored touchdowns on seven straight drives and beat Houston
fifty one thirty one. So the Houston franchise oh and
four in the Divisional round, all four on the road.
The Browns new head coach is Kevin Stefanski, who was
an assistant in Minnesota. He is clean Land's tenth coach
(27:01):
in twenty years. College football's national championship game is tomorrow
night's l s U against Clemson in the NBA. Utah
one it's ninth straight game, and then tonight Denver beat
the Clippers. The Clippers had gone into their matchup tonight
tied with Utah for second place in the West behind
the Lakers. Now it's Denver tied with Utah for second
place in the West. Each team twenty seven and twelve
(27:22):
Clippers now twenty seven and thirteen college basketball losses for
number eight Michigan State and number nineteen Michigan. Back to
the show in ten seconds. First, a word from Farmers
Bundle Holmon Auto with Farmers insurance, and you could save
an average of seen it, covered it, fundled it, call
Farmers to get a quote. Today we are farmers white
(27:44):
average savings and read my Farmers for fire insurance exchanges
and affiliates. Parts not available in every state. And guys,
I mentioned how Green Bay gotta lead at home against
Seattle tonight. Aaron Rodgers in his playoff career, when he's
up by ten at any point in any playoff game,
is now nine and one. The one loss was when
they gagged that lead at Seattle in the NFC Championship
six years ago. But anyway, and creen Bay three, wasn't
(28:09):
it big? Though? When Seattle didn't get the two point
conversion and they were still down five. It's not like
they kept driving into the red zone after that, or
even right before that for that matter, but it just
mentally it seemed like a lot. Thanks Steve uh and
we'll have updates all night long, including what's probably gonna
be our last show together, Oregon State leading over. I
(28:30):
mean you gonna quit, maybe you'll stop. I think it
was pretty clear, Bobo. Did you not hear Arizona loses
this game, I'll quit my job. Yeah, I hurt that.
I mean, I can get the tape and we can
we can't lose to Oregon State. I'm gonna we'll be
owing two in the package. How about if they lose,
(28:52):
you have to buy every one of us like dinner
next week. No, he said he quit his job. I'll
take more maple syrup please. Yeah, exactly, exactly, but we
know he's not gonna quit, Like that's not a normal
thing for him to say, I'll quit. Well yea, as
Chris keeps bringing up a former host here never cut
off his arms even Golden State that final Oh, that's fantastic.
(29:19):
As we come to alive from the guy go Fox
Sports Radio Studios. It's easy to say or more on
car insurance with Geico, Geico dot Com or called seven Otto.
The only hard part figuring out which way is easier?
It was. It was one of my favorite Brian No
moments every when he's like the guy said he's gonna
cut his arm off. I mean, it's not like he's
ever gonna cut his arm off. But how do you
counter that if you're willing to go that hardcore on it?
(29:40):
I do like this this kind of shows you just
how uh funny sports radio can be you have damn textion.
Of course, body language matters. Plank is an idiot for
even going down that dead end road. No, no, no, An,
I didn't go down that road. I defended it because
it had nothing to do with Lamar Jackson's body language.
They got their butts kick. Then you have this with Sean.
I don't agree with you a lot, Annie, but you're
(30:01):
on correct with body language, especially if you're a leader.
Could you imagine if mel Gibson had that speech and
brave heart with his head down, it would be horrible? Yeah,
how did that go for him? He got disembattled and
talk about Russell Wilson's great body language. They got smoked
today too. And then there's a Rod who writes, am
I really listening to Arnie and Plank talk about body
(30:21):
language for seven minutes? No you're not. We're moving on tonight.
But thanks to thanks a good perspective there from Buck
Rising on the Titans. What have the numbers come out yet?
That has to be what at least like a six
and a half point half seven and a half. Okay,
all right, if you could loan me a million dollars,
I'm taking Kansas City in that one. If I told
(30:42):
you right now, Arnie Spanier, I've got a million dollars,
give me one of your No, I'm just I'm just
saying right now, you're that confident, and I have a
million dollars waiting to wire to you. You would put
that million dollars on Kansas City over the Titans? Absolutely No,
I would. I wouldn't, even having a second thought. I
put it on Kansas City, wait for it to hit
(31:02):
and buy myself a brand new fancy car and an
island self hair to go along with it as well too.
You know what, I gotta be honest with you. A
lot of people have compared what's happening this year with
the Tennessee Titans to what was that like the two thousand,
two thousand one Baltimore Ravens, And it is eerily similar.
(31:22):
When you think about this. There have been two teams
prior to Tennessee. Make sure I get the stat right.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure Saga will correct me. Two
teams that had a quarterback throw for under a hundred
yards in two playoff games and still win them. Oh
I know the answer to this. Yeah, And and they
both won the Super Bowl one of them was the
Ravens with Trent Dilford. Who who was the other one
(31:43):
that through for under a hundred yards in two games?
It was I thought it was the Miami Dolphins and
the Pittsburgh Steelers. No, it was the Steelers in the
Dolphins era mid seventies. He's right technically on the Ravens
because the team passing was under a hundred. Ah see,
there you go. I don't want but so I don't know.
I think that sometimes statistical comparisons can come to a scratching,
(32:08):
screeching hall or scratching hall whenever you do just play
a better football team. And I might be crazy, but
I kind of think the Chiefs are a better football
team right now. And if there has ever been a
path more set for them to end up playing in
the Super Bowl, I don't know what it is, but
this just seems to have a little bit of a
oh gosh, like a destiny feel to the Titans. Am
I crazy? No? Well, yes, because I I still don't
(32:31):
think they'll get by Kansas City. But what do you
make you know? You're you're talking about being a copycat league?
What do you make of And I'm sure you've heard
this a million times. Um when they say all the
top four passing teams didn't even make it in the
playoffs this year, but the top four running teams made
it into the playoffs. That's so misleading. That's got to
stop right now. What what do you view as misleading
(32:53):
about it? Just well, the passing stats of these teams,
they were they were bad, so they trailed a lot.
So in the fourth quarter of their content the lead
passing and patting their stats. That's why they probably you know,
led the league in or in the top four or
five in passing because of that. Um. By the way,
it's kind of funny because I was just pulling up
the stats. The postseason passing leader is is Kirk Cousins.
(33:16):
But uh yeah, you know you you look during the
seasons just from a team perspective. Let's just look at
the leading team statistics in passing yard your top five
Tampa Bay, Gallas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and then one of
the five playoff teams still alive, Kansas City was fifth
(33:37):
overall in team passing and that's just on yardage. Well,
Kansas City would have been higher, I'm assuming if Mahomes
had not been hurt probably Yeah, they ran the ball
quite a bit. But then of the four teams that
are left in the play, are the three other teams?
You know, San Francisco was well down that list, Green Bay,
believe it or not, is actually just barely ahead of
the New York Giants, and then we're near the rear
(34:00):
is a Tennessee Titans. So I'm with you. I don't
think you need jerk to it and say like, yeah,
everyone's we're just gonna run power right, and we're gonna
find ourselves a big running back out of Alabama. We
might sign both scarbro as a free agent. I don't
think you're gonna see that. Uh. I think it's still
gonna be dual threat quarterbacks, don't you. I mean I
don't think you're suddenly gonna see that kind of seismic shift,
(34:21):
do you do you think this scares people away from
trying to do more of what Greg Romans done with
the Baltimore Ravens or no. No, I look, I still
think passing is the way to agree, you know, to
win in this league. But it certainly doesn't help. But
you have a guy that could run the ball and
troop the yards, You're not going to win under a
hundred yards passing. This is crazy that Tannehill and the
(34:42):
Titans are able to pull this off, because that's not
gonna happen a lot. Yeah, and I think too, what
it's showing you is just and then this is another
Captain oav statement, just that overall good defense. I mean,
Green Bay is not here right now if they hadn't
improved their defense under Mike Petton in year two with
him running their defense. Right let's get a break in
here when we come back to the guy, go Fox
Sports rad Studios. We'll hit up Twitter. Good tweets rolling
(35:02):
in to kick this show off, and we'll talk about
the late game. Haven't spent a lot of time on
green Bay. Seattle. Will break it down next with Arnie
and Plank on Fox Sports Radio. It's Arnie and Plank
on Fox Sports Radio. Todd Ferman coming up in Mirror Moments.
Good stuff earlier from Buck Rising. You can hear it
all on the podcast Fox Sports Radio dot com. Search
(35:24):
Fox Sports Weekends on your iTunes account if you like,
I want to get to some tweets. There aren't or
is there any by the way, I just want to
say something on the Texans fake field goal. Remember the
fake field go other the fake punt. Yeah, they kicked
themselves off about that fake. But I don't know if
you noticed that the guy who got the who they
hiked it too across the center. He went from left
(35:47):
of the center to right of the center right before
the snap. But I was saying to myself, whoa, you
don't do that as he snapped the ball right to him.
But when I had him and then like, wait a minute,
could be a fake at boom, there it was. He
hiped it off by moving from left to the center
to the right of the center. Oh man, Arnie, what
a run right now by the Beavers. I am yeah,
(36:07):
I already bring that up. We're not taking college basketball
taking center stage seventy fifty six. Oh my god. They
are just the jinx us when it was no you
jinx did. It's been fun, man, I think we've had
a good room, wild Cats. It's been a fun show, Wildcats.
(36:30):
Here's can give you an unpopular opinion about the fake
field goal. Alright, I'm sorry, Look you got me singing.
I was okay with it though, because I'm okay, I
was okay with it. I think it was maybe a
bit of a panic move, but Sorens had made a
hell of an open field tackle. He's got that. I mean,
that was an awesome one on one tackle that he made.
(36:51):
And I think that Bill O'Brien realized, all right, we
made a mistake on fourth and one. I think they
saw it coming and they went with the field goal,
and you know, maybe there was a little bit too
much faith put in the defense and the special teams.
And I mean, they had had the Texans and I'm
not trying to make excuses because trust me, I've Texan
fans don't want to hear it, and I'm not here
(37:11):
to defend them. But they they had several more opportunities
to kind of stem the tide, and one they got
a few breaks, I mean, dropping what was at the punt,
you know, having the blocked punt. They Kansas City made
a lot of mistakes to stake them to that early lead.
So it wasn't like Casey was being shut down by
(37:32):
Houston's offense. It was they didn't have a lot of opportunities.
So I didn't mind so much of the fake punt,
But yeah, you're right, it just looks disastrous now. It's
crazy to think about. All right, we'll quit paying attention
to the Pack twelve game, where it is now seventy
one fifty six Oregon State. We'll move our attention now
(37:53):
to the playoff games today. Let's see where do you
want to start. Let's start with a couple of these tweets,
shall we um? Let's see first and foremost, Shady Shawn Rights,
Thank you Plank for standing up from my titans. Arnie.
Give them some credit and the respect they deserve. Yeah,
what's up with that? Arenie? Wow? You know, look, I
give them credit, but first of all, the running game
(38:16):
obviously saving them. But Tanny Hill less than a hundred
yards passing and back to back games. You gotta wonder
when that look is gonna be going out the window.
But yeah, you gotta go and give it to Derrick Henry.
He's just been phenomenal. I can't believe you can't put
eight nine ted in the box to stop this guy's
running over everybody. Do you know what's crazy? Is I?
(38:36):
And I don't know. Maybe I need to go back
and watch both games again, but I feel like even
when they do of the eight or nine completions, Ryan
dani Hill is they're all huge, all like third down conversions,
maybe a fourth down player, second and long. I mean again,
(38:56):
that's why I have that almost a team of destiny
field to them, because their passing game is is not
good as far as statistics are concerned. But I mean,
it just seems as if every completion ARNI comes at
the biggest possible moment when they need it the most.
And by the way, do I have to bring this up?
There is a how do I put this nicely? A
(39:18):
Kansas City at home choking factor in the playoffs? Should
I not have brought that up? I? I? Yeah, you
know it is historically. I mean, look back to last year,
though I thought, go ahead, I don't think you could
look back to last year. I don't do you consider
that a choke job by them last year? I I didn't. Maybe, um,
(39:41):
maybe I'm being a little bit too lenient towards Kansas
City right now, But can I can I also add
if I layout that there's kind of a destiny feel
to this Titan team, that I think this is a
different field for Kansas City? Or am I being too
Am I being too partial towards Patrick Mahomes here? Aren't? Yeah?
You you no, no, no, Kansas City, you can't be
a seven and a half eight point favorite at home
(40:02):
to go to the Super Bowl. Uh and to a
team that can't pass for over a hundred yards. You've
got the Squashes team, especially because they beat your what
two so earlier in the year. You've you've got to
put your foot down on that. Uh. Their last their
last conference championship game at home was was last year
when they lost the Patriots in overtime. Uh. They went
(40:23):
on the road in ninety three in a conference championship
game and lost to the Buffalo Bills. UM. And then
you've got to go all the way back to nineteen
sixty nine, the last time they played in the conference
championship game. We'll have more on the Chiefs and your tweets.
Coming up next is our one is in the books
Arty in Plank Fox Sports Radio ARENDI in Plank Our

Twitter has been very good so far. Are throughout the
show it goes, I've got all kinds of audio. We've
uploaded from our editors behind the scenes. Hey, and I
(41:07):
don't I don't know. I listen. I want Tom Floores
in the Hall of Fame as much as anybody. Of course,
I think Don Koyell belongs in the Hall of Fame time.
But I'm not hating on what both Fox and CBS
were allowed to do the last two days that I
saw some people that, you know, I guess just are
the fun police out there on social media and maybe
(41:28):
maybe maybe even maybe even on the Book of Faces.
But Arnie, that was awesome, wasn't it. Jimmy Johnson today,
Bill Coward yesterday, to see the raw emotion, I got
to admit I'm getting older. I realized there's probably not
a lot of holes left on the back nine here.
But still when I see when I see Troy Aikman
getting choked up, I get it gets me a little bit.
(41:49):
And I'm not even a Cowboy fan. So I thought,
beyond the playoff matchups, which we'll talk about extensively throughout
the evening and Todd Ferman's coming up next, what a
really cool moment Jimmy Johnson today on Fox and Bill
cow yesterday. Absolutely, By the way, speaking of Fox, I
was just because Fox is carrying the super Bowl this year. Correct,
I believe so. I think so yet and usually you
(42:13):
and I do the Super Bowl Show? Correct? Do we
get to do play by play without getting in trouble
this year? You know that's always been a very delicate
line that we've come. We can process this year, can't wait? Um,
I think we can't. I don't know if we're ever
allowed to just say bring up the game AUDI, which
(42:34):
would be really awesome. But yeah, you are right. Fox
has the game, CBS has and NBC has two. Yeah,
but you see both to push the envelope when you
go and so and so I was around the right
end for five yards in the first that absolutely call
I called play by play. I mean there's just no
if ands or buts about it. So we will get
(42:55):
in trouble this year, but Fox has it. Maybe no,
it's right, and I think I think is there's certain
rules to it. I'll have to check with the boss
man on it. I mean, you just can't blatantly pipe
in crowd noise and fake it. But I think there's
there's moments if you're smart about it. I mean, this
this isn't our first ROADDEO. I think we've gone through
this a few times in the past, so if we
(43:16):
get in trouble for that, then I'm just I don't know,
I'm being lazy or I'm getting a little bit, a
little bit carried away. Oh oh, you know what, Arnie,
it's it's a final. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to a
new era of Sunday Nights you on Fox Sports Radio
as Oregon State has beaten narrow Zona eight two sixty
(43:36):
five live from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios. With
Arnie now quitting the show, Oregon State winning by seventeen.
The crew lead a lap Steve to Seger will be
alongside to help hate your Satnday Nights might actually listen
(43:57):
to the show. Now, that's okay, hate you guys. I
didn't even know we had a producer all these years.
You know what's kind of funny is I couldn't even
fathom how I would be if and again I'm not
the I'm not the biggest basketball fan yet. I'll get
into it here in a bit, but like a if
an Oklahoma game was on, I wouldn't be very good
(44:18):
on the year. I gotta give you credit. Your team
was getting smoked and you didn't take it to personally
or getting mad or throw This is my only hope
left now. I have no other teams left, and Nicks
aren't making anything, and my Dolphins are done. Dolphins already
been mathematically eliminated for next year. Say that again, mathematically
eliminated for next year. So they're done, the Giants or done.
(44:41):
I have nobody to root for ever. Obviously, the Arizona
Wildcats were overconfident by their overtime loss at Oregon earlier
this week and the loss to St. John's and the
loss and it's nothing but the last month. They have
two wins in the last month. Who is this the sager?
(45:02):
What's going on? You're looking on in l a right now? Well,
you just quit. We have to forge the new path
for this show. I'll just turn his does no one
else Remember when that baseball announcer said, boy, if the
opponents come back tonight, I am walking back to and
then he actually walked back. He actually was a man
(45:23):
of his words. First radio personalities do that? Wait? Wait,
I was? I was. I was on the air talking
in Vegas and I said I would walk back to
Tucson if Arizona lost to Miami of Ohio in the
in the tournament, and of course they did. And my
consultant wanted me to walk up and down the aisle
(45:44):
of an airplane UM, and said that. I walked back.
I said, I go, look, we can miles or something.
We could do thirty miles or ten miles a day,
um for thirty days. And my bus goes, are you
an adiot? I can't have you walking back from get on,
you're an idiot. I send you to a history of
(46:04):
fibbing though here I think. I think that's what's going on.
Makes bombastic claims and never follows through on them, don't.
I would say it takes you a little longer than
you're anticipating a day for thirty days. How tough is that,
(46:27):
aren't you are? You're already calling the rematch with a
s U in a couple of weeks. That's gonna be
on during your show, during my show. You know, it's
interesting as we get back to the a f C
and the NFC championship games. Uh, it's pretty wild to
think about you. You brought up the history for Kansas
City whenever it comes to home playoff games, and so
(46:48):
they've won two home playoff games in the last two years.
Right in the Super Bowl era, they now have four
home playoff wins and that's it. So kind of shows you, Yeah,
I think it's like a four and eight in home
playoff games for the Kansas City Chief. This is, in fact, Chris,
the first time in Chief's history they've won a playoff
(47:10):
game in back to back years. Keep in mind that
as great as this franchise is viewed, their last Super
Bowl appearance was fifty years ago. It's crazy. That's that's
just it's crazy, and it's wild if you kind of
dig into it a little bit, because there's there's seasons
where they go like two and fourteen or three, ended
up getting the first round pick, and then they're back
(47:30):
in the playoffs the next year. It's one of the
more wild roller coaster rides that we've seen. I don't
think they're going anywhere for a while. With mahomes and
how they keep adding new pieces, you know, Tyreek Kills ridiculous.
Sammy Watkins is out of career rebirth. But Arnie, I mean, listen,
before we get into these tweets and before we look
back all in on the Packers Seahawks game. Is there
(47:52):
something to it or do we wipe it and watch
it clean and say this is the Andy Reid Patrick
Mahomes there. This is a different world now as far
as your home playoff record. Oh no, I think there's
something to it. I think they have that mystique. I
mean that's like saying that the Cubs had no curse
against them for a hundred years, even though they've gone
through all these different changes. No, there's something to this.
(48:12):
They have to break that jinx and now is the
perfect time. I mean, when you're a seven half point
favorite over a team that can't pass for over a
hundred yards, you should beat them. Um, if they don't
win this game, then we're really going to hammer them.
But you don't come back down twenty four nothing to
the Texans, win fifty one thirty one and then lay
an egg against the Titans. You've you've got to finish
(48:32):
this off. I mean this this is set up right,
and again no offense to Titan fans, but you would
have to see it and believe it as well too.
This is as set up as it has ever been
for Kansas City to end up in the Super Bowl
since their last trip there in nineteen sixty nine, right,
I mean, this is it just it could not have
set up more perfectly. Houston. Well, let's let's rewind a
(48:54):
little bit more. New England loses in seventeen to Miami.
Of course you gives you the first round by you
end up getting Houston instead of Buffalo, who might have
given you a few problems with what they do defensively.
I don't know, but you fell behind twenty zips. He
had a lot of problems here to begin with. But
you roll Houston. Now that that other side of the
(49:15):
bracket where the one seed was is decimated by a
team who has struggled to throw the football, but by god,
they can run it and they're coming into your house.
I mean, if it's one of those situations to where
if it doesn't happen this year with everything played out,
Patrick Mahomes put his knee on backwards. His knee was
the wrong way, and they reset it in like week
(49:36):
four and he was back four weeks later. It it's
almost as if they've lived a charmed life this year.
Party who has the most pressure on them? I was
gonna say either Andy Reid or Aaron Rodgers would be
my two top casses out there. I think that's a
great question. I think it's Andy Reid. And here's why.
Here's why, Here's why. And I'll say because I think
(50:00):
people will say, Aaron Rodgers first year with a new coach, Wow,
look what they've done. Now they're gonna get more weapons,
They're gonna be even better next year. I think the
Packers are gonna be a very popular super Bowl pick
next year, Arnie, So I think there might be that buffer.
I know there's a great future for Kansas City, but
you can't ignore how it's all lined up right. I
know some might argue that same thing for the Packers
(50:21):
with still getting the two seed, but you're going to
San Francisco. It's gonna you got your butts kicked by
him earlier this season. I don't know, Arnie. Am I
crazy for thinking that that would be than Aaron Rodgers.
There's a lot of pressure on Andy Reid, There's no
doubt about that. But um playing at home seven half
point favorite Aaron Rodgers has been getting that knock with
the one super Bowl and when's he gonna go ahead
(50:41):
and step it on up? And don't think it's not
bugging him it's gotta be just tearing him apart inside,
and he's got a lot of pressure also. I agree,
But but you know what, I would maybe agree with
you on Andy Reid. I mean, my goodness, man, especially
that you're throwing that Kansas City Um playoff mystique where
they lose it home a lot. Man, there's a lot
of pressure on the Chiefs and Andy Reid. Uh. Now
(51:03):
you would mention Aaron Rodgers. We have not talked a
lot about the Packers Seahawks game, but JJ from written
checked in and tweets at us. The refs made some
really bad calls in the Seahawks game, and the NFL
needs to start looking into these refs trade. But Trey
Flowers is complete trash. Turner dropped the first down and
when it was needed, and Pete Carroll should have went
(51:25):
for it on fourth down. As mad as I am,
the Seahawks beat themselves when they put on a furious
rally late, didn't they? Yeah? I would have been ripping
Green Bay. Could you imagine if they lost that game
and grew up twenty one the three, twenty ten late
in the third. How do you let that one slip away?
If you're Green Bay. Yeah, and I thought for a moment,
(51:46):
I'm like, we're gonna have one heck of a topic
tonight because Green Bay is gonna blow this thing and
we're going to completely ignore what happened in the early
games of Green Bay kind of punts on this other
side of that forty nine of Rob checks in and says,
how about them Niners, especially Nick Boza just having his
way with the Vikings old line? Next week should be
(52:06):
a good game. I kind of I know this sounds crazy,
but I think with the way they're running games clicking Arnie,
would you be surprised at all of the San Francis
smoke screen Bay next week? No, and you want to
take a guess of the line on that one, I would.
I would say, just because of Rogers, it's probably only
like two and a half right off, way off? Whoa
(52:29):
San Francisco seven? Oh okay, Well that's kind of where
I would have wanted it, to be honest with you.
But man, hey, Vegas like in the Niners more than
I thought. And I still like maybe San Francisco minus seven. Um,
I have a close to that seven point spread right
now in my picks. It's so weird because You don't
(52:54):
want to put too much on what happened during the
regular season, but when the Niners played the Packers, it
was thirty one zip at the half. Aaron Aaron Rodgers
through for a hundred and four yards and was sacked
five times. Arnie five sacks. You I don't know if
that's something you can just magically fix at the level
that San Francisco's offensive line is playing at right now,
(53:16):
and I I mean right well, san Francisco offensive line.
Excuse me, yeah, yeah, well, I was gonna say San
Francisco's defense is one of the better. You know, we
talked about how great the New England Patriots defense wasn't
it was whether or leading. San Francisco's defense was always better,
but they just had an easy schedule, so people weren't
paying attention to them. And I think we kind of
(53:37):
got lost in the a f C West just a bit.
And then, uh, let's see, there was one more here
that I wanted to get to before the break. Ah. Yes,
this is from Sooner Mike. He writes, I believe somehow
the Titans did get in Lamar's head. I don't know
if it was the interception or the d line harassing him.
I'm telling you right now, dude, we have slept on
the Titans defense. I know we've We've had Benjamin Albright
(53:58):
on this show a lot, right through a tweet out
I think right when they made the decision to bench
Marcus Mariotte and go with Ryan Tannehill, he said the
Titans feel like they have a championship level defense but
are being held back by an offense that's just you know,
it's not getting it done, and so they make the
change to Tanny Hill. I just I've been blown away
by it, like I'm sure you have, with how successful
(54:19):
they've been, but maybe we've been sleeping on how good
this Tennessee Titan defenses, aren't he and what Mike Rabel
has done it was, it's been fantastic. So well, by
the way, I'll give you I'll give you some numbers here.
First of all, tanne Home makes over twenty or twenty
one million dollars. The Titans are paying him one point
eight million, the Dolphins eighteen point five million, So you
(54:39):
don't take take that for what it's worth. About that, uh,
And I saw someone else bringing this up. The Houston
Texans rested their starters in week seventeen to basically allow
Tennessee to get in the playoffs. The Titans are still alive,
the Texans are not. So there's another kind of odd
and here as well. And by the way, all those
people that said I knew this was going to happen
to the Titans knew this was going to happen. Well,
(55:01):
if you knew that the Titans were gonna make such
a run in October, you could have had the Titans
to win the Super Bowl at four hundred to one.
My gosh, I guess how many bets they took out
off shore on that one. I don't know how many
zero zero, because people are smart, right, but everyone saw
it coming, all right. Speaking of seeing it coming, our
(55:23):
man Todd firm and usually does. We'll get more of
that Vegas perspective. And I don't feel like we've really
done our due diligence on the San Francisco forty. So
we'll go more in depth with Todd. Next, it's Arnie
and Plank Fox Sports Radio. Want to hear something amazing.

cash back match when you're something amazing? Todd Ferman, Yeah,
just right now on Fox Sports Radio, it's Arnie and Plank.
All right, Todd, good day, bad overall with the fort
good weekend, I guess I should say, how was it
for the Vegas books with the championship games? You know,
(56:05):
not ideal day today when you have Kansas City in
that game flying over the total with eighty two points
being scored Seattle Green Bay. Surprisingly enough, books found themselves
taking a lot of underbets on the game, so that
going over the total help the two A action on
the spread falls damn near close to the number depending
on where you shopped around and ultimately where it settled.
The biggest result over the weekend, maybe the entire season, though,
(56:26):
happened last night with the Tennessee Titans being the Baltimore Ravens. Outright.
It eliminated all money line parlays, um, teaser liability, anything
possible that could have gone into Kansas City today over
the National Championship game tomorrow. Todd, what was in game
betting odds when the Texans were up twenty four nothing
against Kansas City. I was it as crazy? I think
(56:47):
it was? Or not? Really? You know what, it wasn't
as crazy. I don't think Arnie as far as numbers
were concerned. Because it happened so early in the game,
Foxbeck got as high as plus three fifty for the
Kansas City Chiefs to win that football game. That number
of where shifted pretty quickly. The more interesting number that
I saw out there, and there was only a couple
of books that offer first half money lines. Kansas City
when they went down was seventy to one to have
(57:09):
the lead at halftime, something that rather improbable when you
consider the sequence of events it took for them to
go not only trailing by three plus scores, but to
take the lead into the break, and one that they
would never relinquish as their offense found high gear in
the second half. How much does what happened in the
regular season factor into the way you kind of scout
these two matchups next weekend? I think, you know, when
(57:32):
you look at the games Tennessee in Kansas City, that
was more anomaly than anything else. Yes, the Titans actually
won that football game, but it took the block field
goal late into some unique sequences of events, So that
probably a little more applicable maybe than what you're gonna
see in Green Bay San Francisco. But at the same time,
I think these games happening a lot later in the
year much more indicative of what we could see this weekend.
But the crazy part about it is that Green Bay
(57:53):
San Francisco game. Since San Francisco lost the Green Bay
they've rattled off nothing but wins, And since Kansas City
lost the Tennessee they've been unbeaten through during that stretch,
so season defining moments for both of those teams. I'm
just not sure how Green Bay is able to go
about handling some of the matchup issues that they're gonna
face against San Francisco, whereas Tennessee Kansas City. If Tennessee
can run the football effectively, it's the best way to
(58:14):
shorten the game. They better hope, though, they don't give
up four plus yards passing to Patrick Mahomes, because they
won't end up on the right side of that decision
if it happens twice in the season. Well. Speaking about
the Titans, though, um, if you wanted to pet them
back in October. Could you have gotten four hundred to
one odds when they were two and four to to
win the Super Bowl? Did I hear that correctly? That's insane.
(58:35):
You know what, There may be a book or two.
I never saw them quite that high. I mean, I
saw them kind of cap out right around a hundred
to one. But there are some shops not a public
team by any stretch of the imagination. So when you
watch their performances, that Denver Tennessee game really sticks out
where Tennessee could do nothing offensively. Ryan Tannehill comes in
and moves the offense a little bit. I don't think
anybody in their wildest dreams, even the most about Titan fans,
(58:57):
would have imagined they'd be one game away from going
to Miami to play for the Super Bowl. But it's
a credit to this team that's taken the identity of
the coach. It's manifested itself on the field, and for
the second time in as many weeks, they didn't need
Ryan Tannell for throw to throw for more than eighty
five yards and get a win on the road in
the postseason. Doesn't it just seem as if it's playing
out for Kansas City, though this year is amazing as
(59:17):
this run has been. Kansas City slides into the two
seeds with New England losing. Uh, they fall behind twenty
to zip and then roll, and then New England's out
and then the one seeds out. I mean, could it
possibly set up more perfectly for Kansas City to finally
break through for the first time in fifty years. Well,
I definitely think there's a good chance that they get there.
I know I'm not going out on a limb saying
(59:39):
that Chris now in the Kansas City is more than
a touchdown favorite against the Titans, but I think if
they were to meet San Francisco in the Super Bowl,
that's a match up the Kansas City probably doesn't want
to see because the forty Niners do everything you need
to to be Kansas City. They can run the football
as effectively as any team in the league, they can
get pressure with their front four, and they have a
secondary that's going to be as healthy as it's been
(59:59):
all season, bar some unforeseen injury coming up on Championships Sunday.
So I would love a scenario myself, assuming this plays out,
that San Francisco takes on Kansas City. San Francisco opens
a short underdog, and it would be a pretty strong
opinion for me on that particular game with the NFC
is a live dog, Todd, How unsufferable is Clay Travis
gonna be tomorrow? And how I don't want to think
(01:00:19):
about it, Ernie, I really don't want to think about it.
And Heaven help us if Tennessee happens to go in
a arrowhead get the big One on Sunday and we
have to deal with Clay for two straight weeks, including
live in person when we do all of our shows
from the FS one set down there in Miami leading
up to the big Game in early February. You should
say you'll quit your job if the Titans win it all.
I've already kind of threatened to do as much, but
(01:00:41):
apparently I need the paycheck. So if you guys are
hiring a Fox Sports radio doctor the exact, I might
need to pick up a shift or two and try
and monetize some of my opinions if I decided to
leave the TV world for good. I'm at the hard
college guy. But it's been a quiet week. There hasn't
been a lot of buzz even it was more about
the weather in New Orleans than was anything else, and
they gotta shift your perspective on this at all leading
(01:01:02):
into tomorrow Night's National championship game. Not really. I think
what surprised me some is the general public betting L
s U laying the points here, professional betters making a
strong case for Clemson. And when you look at some
of the consensus information that's out there, all the odds
makers and the pros all on Clemson, leads me to
believe that it may not be as easy for the
Tigers to go out there and defend the national champion
(01:01:23):
UH National Championship. You look at this L. S U offense,
and while they're going to encounter some resistance, it feels
like a special season that Joe Burrow and company are
putting together. But I look at this number, I don't
think there's a ton of wiggle room one way or another.
The number is definitely inflated. But in a one game setting,
would it shocked me at all if L s U
is able to ride the momentum of Joe Burrow and
the home crowd to a touchdown win. Not in the
(01:01:43):
least last thing, If if you last think, for me,
if you like Clemson, that means you like the under correct. Well,
you know what, I think there's a indirect correlation in
the game. It wouldn't surprise me if Clemson went out
there and won the game thirty one anymore than it
would l s U. So I don't think it's apples
to Apple in this game. But it's interesting you say that, Arnie,
because you saw on the NFL game the early one
(01:02:04):
on Saturday, professional betters oddly betting Minnesota plus the point
and the game under the total, when in my opinion,
San Francisco is always going to get their points. The
Vikings needed to do their fair share to keep up,
and I think that will be a similar scenario to
Kansas City in Tennessee. Common thought it'll be all the
Titans need to keep this game under the total against
Kansas City win. In reality, the only way the Titans
are able to cover as if their offense shows up.
(01:02:26):
So I think there's a reverse correlation there. Whereas the
game tomorrow night, I could see scenarios where either of
these teams can score forty and win the game. Out right,
Great stuff, Greg, Stuff. Always appreciate your time, man. Have
a great week and somehow, somehow fight through. Clay's just
absolute good feeling right now. Good luck with that. You
know what, I'll just happen to lose connectivity on my
i FB. It might be the only way I can
(01:02:47):
endure his insufferable personality for a full week. But I
know his loyal listeners in the morning show are gonna
have to suffer through three hours of it every single
day from now until the Titans finally get eliminated from
the player. I love it. That's Todd Ferman, funny live
from the getic Fox Sports Radio. That's gotta be killing him.
I was looking at Clay's Twitter, uh during the Titans game,
(01:03:10):
and he wrote some code full language when they were winning.
I can't repeat it, but he was pretty happy about it. Yeah, yeah,
And I think he wanted everyone fired after like week
week six. But that's kind of unfair because I think
every Titan fan wanted everyone fired after about a week
six with the way things had gone so hundred to one.
If he was so smart, Clay would have bet um
(01:03:30):
a thousand dollars on that. Wow, that's a lot of
coin on and that would have been uh four thousand
feeling pretty good about that one. Right now, Steve the
Sager rolls in to keep us caught up on everything
going on in the world of sports. What's going on, Steve?
And remember after the two and four Titans start their
roles started with that crazy finish, the home win against
(01:03:50):
the Chargers with the video review and then the fumble.
It's the goal, that's right, one touchdown was called back
and then yeah, it was just craziness, absolute craziness. And
by the way, I am holding the paper from South Point,
Las Vegas last June, it is Tennessee was a hundred
to one to win it all. But when they were
(01:04:11):
two and four, I believe they went up the four
that I believe that, I absolutely. By the way, the
Chiefs were the co favorites as of last summer to
win it all. Chiefs were six to one, Patriots were
six to one. Green Bay was fifteen to one to
win it all. The Forts were twenty five to one.
Was of last summer. And yes, since we had the
National title game with l s U Clemson tomorrow night,
(01:04:31):
I'll repeat as I've mentioned on this Sunday night show,
Clemson was co favorite with Alabama to win it all
this season about two to one. L s U as
of last day was twenty one, and if you go
back twelve months, l s U had opened at thirty
to one to win it all. So yeah, it's a
bit of a surprise, and the national championship were rushing.
The National Championship game would take another month off. Speaking
(01:04:56):
of time off, did you see l s U canceled
classes for Monday Tuesday in Batton Rouge. They're pushing back
the start of the spring semester. The games in New
Orleans only about eighty miles away. L s us last
national title was two thousand seven. Clemson's won two of
the past three well NFL playoffs. Of course, today we
had home wins for Kansas City and Green Bay. Although
that sounds much easier than it was. Kansas City came
(01:05:18):
back to beat Houston fifty one thirty one. Can you
imagine if you're Deshaun Watson and sitting on the sidelines
watching your defense allows seven consecutive touchdown drives, you gag
at twenty four nothing lead and you're out the Houston
franchise oh and four in the divisional round, all four
on the road. But Deshaun Watson, this has never happened
in the Super Bowl era. This is going back fifty
(01:05:39):
plus years. A quarterback in a playoff game throws for
three yard, no giveaways, three total touchdowns and does not
win the game. I mean lead example and that come back. Well, obviously,
it's never happened before in NFL history that a team
in the playoffs was down twenty and one by twenty
that that's how crazy today was. But also in regular
(01:06:01):
season or playoffs to be down twenty four and make
it all up by halftime, that's what happened because Patrick
Mahomes threw four touchdown passes just in the second quarter
any gas. By the way, the only other time in
the history of the NFL postseason where somebody's thrown four
touchdown passes in a single quarter, it was in a
Super Bowl, yes, Doug Williams, when they were down ten
(01:06:26):
nothing and then torched that awful Broncos secondary about thirty
years ago, five touchdowns total in just the second quarter.
They went from ten nothing down to winning ten. That
was when Timmy Smith ran for two d yards. High
school quarterback might have been on that redskin team, Jay Schrader,
Remember he had to come in for one game after
Doug Williams on a sack hurt his knee. Hey, j
(01:06:50):
that's another Army high school story. He's not gonna call
the show either. Green Bay went up on Seattle and
late third quarter and beat the Seahawks twenty three. Davante
Adams eight receptions, a hundred sixty yards and two touchdowns
in the NBA Utah one it's ninth straight game one
one sixteen in Washington, and Donovan Mitchell did not play
(01:07:13):
due to illness. This guy everage just twenty four points
a game. The no, it was an actual illness. The
l A Clippers are no longer number two behind the
Lakers in the West. The Denver Nuggets beat the Clippers
tonight one fourteen, one oh four. Paul George was out
again with a hamstring injury, but Kawhi Leonard played had
thirty points. Denver and Utah are tied for second at
(01:07:36):
twenty seven and twelve. Clippers are twenty seven and thirteen now.
And in college hoops, Oregon State on FS one took
care of number twenty four ranked Arizona. Was a battle
of eleven and four teams and the Wildcats just didn't
show in the second half. We still still no Kent
State score from hockey last night? What's wrong with you?
Eighty two sixty five Oregon State. Yes, somebody named Spaniard
(01:07:58):
was the winning goalie in a College Boy last night.
I'm not sure who that was. Back to the show
in ten seconds. First, a word from Farmers home on
auto with Farmers Insurance and you could save an average
of we know what thing or two about how to
save a buck or two. Call Farmers to get a
quote today we are farmers might have savings under my
(01:08:18):
farms for four insurance echanges and affiliates proutsun available in
every state. And guys who mentioned on last Sunday night show,
how we're gonna have an a f C title game
with no Tom Brady, no Ben Roethlisberger, no Peyton Manning
first time in eighteen years, eighteen years, eighteen straight years,
being exactly equal to a third of all the a
f C title games ever played. Now we have, I mean,
who has super Bowl experience? Of these final four starting quarterbacks,
(01:08:41):
We have Aaron Rodgers one super Bowl start and he's
it of the four that are still alive. So the
last time of the four starting quarterbacks still alive we
only had one super Bowl start among them was two
thousand five. But how many Super Bowls had Jimmy G
been in? Though? No? I mean, that's just what I'm
saying is Jimmy G doesn't have playoff experience until he
(01:09:02):
was Yes. No, but as far as we're talking starting quarterback, silly,
you got to hang around and party a little bit.
By the way, I am still not confident in this
guy is a turnover machine. This year for for an
elite team that he's on, he still turned including yesterday,
he still turns the ball over too much. We'll see
if that comes up again. It's not supposed to rain.
(01:09:23):
I mentioned this on the previous show. It's not supposed
to rain in the Bay Area for next Sunday. But
you know, we're a week out on a weather forecast,
so they for now say what Saturday night rain? Who's
to know? Yeah? And again those seven day forecast ten
day four, why I guess in this case should be seven.
They they shift S H, I F T just a
little bit. So yeah, I know, that's why I spell
(01:09:44):
it out. So you know the way I don't like
the Super Bowl in Miami this year? Why not? I'm
done with the whole neutral sight thing. I think we
should have the I think we should have a number
one within two weeks, so you may be, uh the
best country. He gets to host the Olympics on short
notice as well the World Cup. It is the same thing.
(01:10:06):
It's an advance that it's a year of planning that
goes into this. Do you understand if if like the
Kansas City Chiefs are playing the super Bowl at home,
they'll have no problem selling that thing out. There's no
big deal, not exactly the issue. Do you think, gosh goodness,
the issue? You guys never like my ideas. I mean
you shut them down every time. I like the idea
of you had last hour that when Arizona loses, you're
(01:10:27):
leaving the show. I sure you're dead, oh man, As
we come to your night live from the Geico Fox
Sports Radio Studios, Thank Steve. It's easy to say or
more on car insurance with Geico good a guy who
dot com or called eight hundred nine four seven auto.
The only hard part figuring out which way is easier. Well, Arnie,
if you like home game championship matchups, you're gonna get
(01:10:50):
one tomorrow night, essentially, because oh boy, prepare yourself if
anything that I'm hearing from Bourbon Street or any of
that will not as if anything is ever normal in
the violence on Bourbon Street. But I think you're gonna
see quite a bit of purple and gold in the
super Dome tomorrow. Just are excuse me, Mercedes Bins Dome tomorrow.
(01:11:12):
So just prepare yourself, Arnie. It's gonna be. You'll get
your wish. I think in this instance, you don't like
that home. You love the neutral site games. You love
the Oklahoma Texas game and the neutral site you eat
that stuff up. Oh I love that game at a
neutral site. Just again, for those who want to complain
about it, I used to be there. But go. It
will change your mind. I can't think of any other
(01:11:33):
way to put it. I mean, I can sit here
and fight with you all night long about the neutral
site suck. Okay, Well you gotta go to this one.
This is different, it really is. But I'm not a
big I'm not a big fan of it, Honestly, I'm
really not. I think there's unique matchups that that can
go in neutral site games and bowl games. But I
love this. I love that we're talking about home games.
I think the Super Bowl atmosphere is too sterile, it's
(01:11:55):
too corporate. So that except you just keep telling me, well,
we can't pull it off in two weeks, and we
can't pull it off in two weeks, but we would
have no problem filling up the stadium because no matter
who was hosting, Kansas City, San Francisco, the Titans, Green Bay,
they'll sell it out. It's that's not a problem. But
(01:12:16):
it's all the people that want to come in and
uh and the corporate stuff and spending the money. That's
what you're gonna miss out on. Yeah, And I think
that's the issue. I don't think you're looking at an
issue where anyone is concerned about ticket sales. I think
it's about taking care of all the sponsors and the
necessary things. So the tweet of the night has been sent.
It was sent early, but I saved it for this
(01:12:37):
final few minutes here of the bottom of the r
because I think this is just a fantastic point from
Ernie the Great Opiner who rights is there any other
sport or sporting event in this country that even remotely
comes close to the NFL playoffs? And I can't wait
to hear which two teams aren't. He's gonna curse with
his picks in the championship game. The NFL absolutely rule
(01:13:00):
les except in New York. In Miami, oh I love it, man.
I'm there's a party that's so excited that we have
the championship games next week. And but then also a
little hint of sadness because you get the week off
before the Super Bowl and then we're done with football
for a while. So yeah, I dig it, man, I
think in next weekend. This week is my favorite weekend
(01:13:20):
because you know, you have four games over two days,
you can just veg out and love football. But next
week is supposed to be the best of the best.
So I tend to agree with Ernie Arnie, there's not much.
The tops of the the playoffs are the NFL period, Um yeah,
I mean it's it's a great time. But now that
we're dwindled down, Um now we're coming to the end.
And by the way, do you like the two weeks
before the Super Bowl? We we did it once or
(01:13:42):
twice with a one week way over, and then we
all complained there wasn't enough time to talk about the game.
And what's kind of funny about that is the year
when we only had the week that was when the
Raiders offensive lineman lost his mind and disappeared the night
before the game. Barrett Robbins, Yeah, yeah, I think that's
who it was. But yeah, that was it. Shows you
(01:14:02):
I liked the two weeks and now I have no
problem with that. I have complaining about the l s
who Clempson game that it seems like it's been two months.
I don't know what it is. It's been a long time, dude.
This has been ridiculous. When all is said done, when
all of a sudden done, this will have been the
longest college football season ever, Arnie ever. And it's through
the holidays too, which makes it seem longer. I'm thinking,
(01:14:25):
I think you're right. When we come back to the
guy goed Fox Sports Radio Studios, man, I we've touched
on it, but the tweets are really good, So we'll
dive into more of those, some good perspective on the
championship games, and more from the saga. Next, it's Aren't
in Plank on Fox Sports Radio, a rarity here on
Fox Sports Radio, at least on our show. It's Arnie
in Plank, a guest in the final hour as our
(01:14:47):
man Petewski will join us after wrapping up his coverage
of the Packers and their advancement to the NFC Championship
Game and knocking off the Seahawks, and as Steve de
Seger strolls into the Geico Fox Sports Radio studios, A
a very solid, slash, well thought out question, gentlemen on
(01:15:10):
the tweets in the Twitter machine tonight. And I don't
really know if I have an answer for sooner Mike,
but uh, here we go. He wants to know how
in the world could you have a team like Tennessee
that is so god awful during the season but suddenly
finds another gear in the playoffs. It makes absolutely zero sense.
(01:15:33):
I have one answer, Go ahead. It's the stat of
the weekend. I mentioned it that on our show last
night that Derrick Henry, just in his last eight games
has rushed for one thousand, two hundred seventy three yards
in half a season equivalent almost yards and eleven rushing touchdowns.
And and the big captain navios obviously the move from
to Tannehill. Um he he you know, we gave this
(01:15:56):
that and you may have to look it up when
he was with the Dolphins and he wasn't. He was
one of the top five quarterbacks in wins, I believe
when he started um for the Dolphins, but unfortunately got hurt,
so you know they had to move on from him. Well,
and keep in mind one and one of those games
at Tennessee was the Titans beating the Kansas City Chiefs.
Tannehill beat Mahomes already in the regular season with a
(01:16:18):
late touchdown to US yeah by three m And by
the way he did at it seems as if they're
built to beat good teams. Only well, that's not bad
at the playoffs. Jin's in the playoffs, all right, where
do you want to start? S Well, Seattle's out all time.
At Green Bay, they've lost nine straight over about the
past twenty years. Green Bay twenty three, the final over
(01:16:38):
the Seas was the lead late in the third quarter,
but Aaron Rodgers and company held on. So now it'll
be a rematch of a regular season game with San
Francisco hosting Green Bay again. Keep in mind that during
the regular season, the Packers laid two eggs in California.
They got killed in l A by the Chargers and
(01:16:59):
got killed in the Bay Area by the forty Niners.
And it has certainly happened before where a team got
killed by an opponent regular season and gets to rematch
against the same team in the playoffs. In fact, in
the Super Bowl era, this is almost twenty five times
that has happened, where you at least get a rematch,
but the team that wins the first time more often
than not wins the second time. Fourteen and nine is
(01:17:20):
the record for the team sweeping the two. In fact,
it's only happened. You'd have to go back almost a
decade since the last time it happened, when the Jets
upset in New England in the playoffs after having been
killed by New England in one of the regular season games.
We have Kansas City as a host of the a
f C Title Game next Sunday. Again, remember they hosted
the a f C Title Game last year and lost
(01:17:40):
an ot Uh They're gonna be hosting the Titans. That's
the three pm Eastern time game next Sunday. Just book
your trip to Miami. If you're a Chief fag, you
can't choke it. Uh way. That's a return question, isn't it,
especially with you saying it? Travis time. Travis Kelsey seemingly
had two targets out there in the field. He had
(01:18:02):
ten receptions a hundred thirty four yards three touchdowns starting
in the second quarter. The Chiefs scored forty one straight
points in a playoff game. As we get to the
NFL ratings from yesterday, um, by the way, they were okay.
As a comparison, the t n T match up Thursday
night at the NBA was pretty good as Russell Westbrooks
(01:18:23):
returned to Oklahoma City. That got about one point six
million viewers. NFL averaged twenty nine million per game yesterday
that Vikings forty niners, which really wasn't much of a
game after two and a half quarters, twenty nine point
three million, and then twenty nine point four mill for
the Titans Ravens game which wound up the Tennessee upset.
(01:18:44):
And that game last night was actually fewer viewers than
they got the week before with Titans Patriots. And yesterday's
numbers were down about ten percent from the divisional a
year ago because the Cowboys were in it a year ago.
I was not compared to like those Jeopardy the special
Jeopardy game time. You know, I should look up the
jet because they've had primetime Jeopardy, so they're getting a
few million. Specially, the special Jeopardy games did higher than
(01:19:07):
all the Monday night football games. I know that really, Yes, wow,
I do have to look that up every they beat. Ever,
that's one, two, three, and four of the four Jeopardy days. Now,
as far as the Minneapolis and Bay area markets, for
that day game yesterday, they each averaged a seventy five share,
which means seventy of the TVs that were on we're
(01:19:28):
watching the game in the two cities, and even in
the Green Bay area and Kansas City area it was
almost a fifty percent share for that game yesterday, Almost
fifty percent of those TVs that were on we're watching
that game. So yes, very impressive. And I do have
the paper still from when we went through Vegas last
summer of the win lost totals. You know that over
(01:19:48):
and under on regular season wins. The Baltimore Ravens, for example,
I was looking at some of the playoff teams, how
they wound up better than predicted. The Ravens over under
eight and a half wins is what I trying out.
Buffalo wound up a playoff teams, It was over or
under seven wins for this past season, Green Bay nine wins.
That wasn't over Texans eight and a half wins, That
(01:20:10):
wasn't over Kansas City at ten wins that wound up
and over forty Niners. Eight wins was the prediction. Obviously,
that was it over. On the other side, the Chargers
ten wins, Rams ten and a half, Eagles ten wins.
Of course nobody in that division got ten wins, so yeah,
win some you lose, So I mean I will repeat
(01:20:32):
our own. Dan Buyer is the guy preseason that said
the Rams are not making the playoffs this year, and
some of us kind of crossed eyes and scoffed and
Rams didn't make the playoffs this year. Hey, I was
definitely not on that boat to stalk the season. Good stuff,
a lot of really really good stuff on Twitter. I'll
do a better job in our number three coming up next.
But when we come back, did the guy go Fox
(01:20:55):
Sports Radio Studios. Let's get postgame reaction from maybe the
game we talked the least about tonight. The Packers are
moving on to the NFC Championship Game. How do they
right their wrongs in California in twenty nineteen into We'll
talk to our man, Pete Bakowski next with Arnie and
Plank on Fox Sports Radio Final Hour, coming to you
(01:21:18):
Alive from the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes
could save you fiftent or more on car insurance. He's
staying up late with us because I'm sure he's been
working NonStop locked on Packers Podcast. Incredible guests that we
have on consistently covers the NFL for esp Nation Pro
Football Weekly, you name it, Peter Bikowski is demand and
(01:21:41):
what you were in the house tonight for this game?
How and how impressed were you with the Packers defense
throughout this season? Because Pete, I follow you, I read
everything you do. It's kind of really been the big surprise,
I think for a lot of NFL pundits. But you
saw this coming, didn't you. Well, when you go back
to training camp and someone like Zadarius Smith, who the
(01:22:03):
casual NFL fan doesn't really know, is beating David Batieri
in practice in one on one, that just doesn't happen. Okay.
I know, I know not everyone is into like the
deep recesses of dark training camp Twitter. But if you're
if you're a Packer fan who follows those things. You're
you were watching that going this guy, this guy might
(01:22:25):
be really legit, and it was more than that this season.
Guys President Zadarius Smith came in and changed the culture.
Along with Matt Lafleur. I think they deserve a lot
of credit for uh imbuing this team with a kind
of of confidence and a focus. You know, they're both
of those guys are coming from organizations that are very different.
(01:22:47):
Washington obviously kind of a disaster at all times, and
Baltimore is one of the best organizations in the sport.
But Zadarius Smith was on a Ravens team that didn't
win a lot of games. He wasn't the focal point
of you know, deep playoff runs when he was with
that defense. They those guys came in hungry and they've
got this team focused and really playing well. How many
(01:23:07):
games in the Aaron Rodgers era have the Packers lost
because their defense couldn't get that one stop at the
end of the game. And then here we are four
minutes left, Russell Wilson driving. They've got twenty points in
the second half, and he gets the big stack late
in the game that gives the ball back to the
Packers and they never give it back to Seattle. Yeah,
prior to that drive where you're a little nervous that
(01:23:29):
all of a sudden the Packers We're gonna let this
what slip through their fingers. I mean, you're how is
that going to happen? Yeah, you know, nervous is probably
the wrong h the wrong adjective, but I'm sure plenty
of Packer fans were. I sent out a tweet at
halftime that was like, what what would the score have
to be for Packers fans to not have their hearts
(01:23:49):
in their throats in the fourth quarter? And you know,
we all remember what happened and and that NFC Championship
game has scarred hiss you that runs deep in Packer Nation.
So I think that was that was certainly you're going, okay,
this is what the Packers paid all that money to
get Preston Smith and Zadarius Smith and Adrian Amos, and
(01:24:12):
let's not forget. I mean, I know, we lead with
the defense, and rightfully so, but on the last drive,
Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams ultimately sealed this game, and
that it was It was a playoff record performance for
Davantae Adams for the Green Bay Packers, the best receiving
performance in playoff history for that team, and that team
has had plenty of playoff performances to talk about. So
(01:24:36):
what they were able to do offensively really complimented what
what the Packers were able to do defensively. And I
was just saying this to someone in the press box.
You know, this was not a defense where that they
just in the second half started collapsing. They just they're
blowing coverages, Guys are running open. No, Russell Wilson played
awesome and he deserves credit for that. Uh, they just
(01:24:59):
made the plays that they needed to make. The defense
did to win the game. You know, it's interesting, as
Peter Pikowski joined Just Locked on Packers podcast, incredible NFL writer.
You go back to the preseason and I'm big into
already knows this he hated about me. I'm big into
those deep recesses of trainee camp Twitter and who's looked good?
Who hasn't. But I'm Matt Lafleur. Oh, he doesn't let
(01:25:20):
quarterbacks call audibles and and it's this big fight. Can
you take us through that relationship and has it blossomed
throughout the season between la Fleur and Rogers. I mean,
they're in the NFC Championship game, but how have you
seen that relationship progress so far this season? That was
a relationship that I don't know about right away, but
almost right away they clicked because Mott Lafleur is a
(01:25:43):
details guy. And there was a great Sports Illustrated piece
on the Washington staff when it was Matt Lafleur, Kyle
Shanahan and Sean McVeigh. And even with those guys, I
mean you're talking about three of the bright young name
in the league, Matt Lafleur was consider or the most
detail oriented, the guy that was always in the minutia,
(01:26:03):
digging in prepared, no spinders. He was the guy that
was interviewing quarterbacks at the combine. So he's doing all
this draft prep. Two and that's Aaron Rodgers. He is
always the most prepared guy on the field and it
it pisces him off when other guys don't study as
hard as he does, what doesn't prepare as hard as
he does. And he got someone in Matt Lafleur who's
(01:26:26):
gonna put in the work, and and Rogers respected that
they are collaborating, and you know, Matt is going to
Aaron and saying, you know, what do you think about
this play in this situation? What do you like here?
And that's that is more or less par for the
course in the league. But that relationship has really had
been a driving force to everything here. They laugh about
(01:26:47):
it now when they're asked about the audible stuff that
what what a non story that was? And Matt Lafleur
went out of his way to explain it. Look, it
can happen. It's just they've never this offense has never
had a quarterback like Aaron Rodger run it where you
can just take the play and Aaron Rodgers can say, well,
let's tweak it this way at the line and it's
(01:27:08):
a touchdown. They can do that. He can do that,
And Malaflor that if you have a quarterback who can
get you in the perfect play, why wouldn't you want
to use that? Yeah, Pete, we brought this up earlier.
Who has more pressure to win a Super Bowl? Andy
Read or Aaron Rodgers? Well, only one of those guys
has a Super Bowl. So if you want to talk
(01:27:30):
about legacy, Aaron Rodgers is very aware of his legacy.
But he's already going to go down as a super
Bowl winner. He's a two time m v P. He's
an all time great. Andy Reid needs this, he needs
this to validate all of the you know, you look
at the Philadelphia the losing the way that ended. You
(01:27:51):
go to, however many half a dozen af you know,
conference champstonhip games and only get to one super Bowl
that you lose to the Patriots. Know that's that's a
blemish on his record. He needs the super Bowl. And
as I look around at the at the landscape, they
how do you not feel like they're the scariest team
out there? That adds pressure even more. Yes, and they
(01:28:14):
have the best team. But if they have the best
team left, they should win. You know. It's it's interesting
in all this talk about what happened today, my mind
and I'm sure yours to a certain degree, Peter is
always already thinking about the matchup against San Francisco. It's
not just Sam, it's California where Green Bay didn't play
well crazily this year and brought that up. But what
(01:28:34):
can they tweak, what can they learn? What can they
take away from that tough performance against San fran in
the regular season. Well, remember Ryan Bulag only played nine
snaps in that game. Alex Light had to come in
and he was overmatched by Nick Bosta and the Forest
Buckner and Eric Armst and just the guys that they
can they can throw at you. When you look at
(01:28:56):
what happened to Kirk Cousins, that was same kind of deal.
Is close until the defense really put their stamp on
the game. Brian Bulago did not play tonight because he
was sick. A stomach flu went through the locker room
as it did all around the league. Uh, you know,
if he can be you know, get the fluid, get
the i V. If he can be out there on Sunday,
(01:29:18):
I think that changes everything. Just from an offensive standpoint,
they couldn't do anything with life back there. Now, if
you have Brian Lulaga Pro Bowl caliber right tackle, that
makes your life a lot easier. You know, the game.
The Packers defense, I think only played something like plays
for the first twenty They were great, and it just
(01:29:39):
got to the point where they were on the field
too much and Green Bay's offense couldn't sustain. Uh, they
couldn't sustain drives and it put them in a disadvantageous position.
If if green Bay can protect Rogers, uh, then then
you know that that changes and this Packers defense is
playing better. They just need to play better. Torront Williams
said in the in the post game that they felt
(01:30:00):
like they didn't have a good plan number one and
number two. Uh, they just didn't come in with focus
and the right mindset. Now that they've been through this,
they've come off of by and and executed a game plan,
A great game plan, by the way. I thought Matt
la Fleure called a spectacular game, and Mike Patton was
ready for everything that that Russell Wilson had to throw.
(01:30:22):
Adam Russell just made some plays. I think they're more
prepared for this moment now than they were. You know,
however long ago that was two months ago. If the
Packers played the same game next week like they did tonight,
will they beat San Francisco? How does San Francisco play?
I mean that you know that it's a tough thing.
(01:30:43):
It's SANFERI If both teams play their best, San Francisco win.
But I'll remind you, uh there, this is why parallels
are are abundant. After this game, you know, the Packers
go to Seattle Week one of that season and they
get trounced by this the Hawks. The Seahawks were the
best team in the conference all year. Then comes the
(01:31:05):
NFC Championship game. Aaron Rodgers, who the m v P
that year on one leg, goes in and the Packers
out play Russell Wilson and the Seahawks for fifty five
minutes in that game, and it took an all time
comedy of errors to lose. That is on the table,
and it didn't take virtuoso Aaron Rodgers to do that.
That was their defense. This defense is capable of going
(01:31:28):
in there and locking down Jimmy g who you know
is going to throw it to the wrong team once
or twice, and that that is the difference. If Green
Bay plays the way that they did Sunday and San
Francisco plays the way that they did stay against Seattle
in mid season, yeah, green Bay can absolutely win. Peter,
final thought for me before we let you run in
(01:31:49):
in the excitement of the weekend, and I feel like
we've we've kind of touched upon everything, you know. It's
it's crazy to think that the Titans are in this
final four with the way things have gone. Outside of that, though,
do we have three of the four best teams from
the NFL all season long? I mean, do we have
at least the best teams consistently in the NFL? Or
(01:32:11):
can we debate New Orleans obviously Baltimore not being there?
I mean, I feel pretty good about getting three of
the four, don't you? I do? And and this is
the thing about the NFL playoffs. You know we we
we wail in Nash our teeth about college and are
the best teams in the in the four? This is
not if if we had the College football Playoff Committee
picked the four teams to play in this game, it's
(01:32:33):
not these four. But that's okay. Because Baltimore had their
chance and lost, New Orleans had their Both those teams
had their chance at home against wild card teams who
didn't even win their division, and they lost. You got
to prove it, and that's the beauty of the NFL.
These are the four best teams right now because they
proved it. They went on on one and none of
(01:32:55):
them won in flukey ways. Green Bay deserved to win
this game, New Orleans deserve to lose that game, and
Tennessee they absolutely outplayed two of the best teams in football.
They deserve to be in the a f C Championship Game.
How cold was it out there? That's all They kept
their heads cold out How cold was it out there?
It's it's it was cold, guys. I mean we're inside,
(01:33:17):
so it doesn't it doesn't didn't bother me. But I
did walk by some Seahawks fans in pregames saying it
was the coldest they've ever been, So I wouldn't say
for me it was that it was that cold, and
having grown up in Wisconsin and gone to college and
in upstate New York, but it was. It was certainly cold,
but not very many sleeves. There are not a lot
(01:33:39):
of sleeves on the players. They they were, they were
having a good time. Unfortunately, the snow has come now
and it would have been fun to get a little
snow during the game, meaning that's the only thing that
we really missed for a for a great game of
thriller at Lamba. Would have been nice to have a
little snow. Pete, thanks for staying up with this late man.
Appreciate all your work and hopefully we'll be talking to
(01:34:00):
get next week. And beyond love that dude, Peter Protkowski
uh covers the Packers covers the NFL. I it's always
hot for me because Pete does the Locked on Packers podcast.
But you know he's written for Sports Illustrated. As we
mentioned Pro Football Weekly, Espion Nation dudes about a sharp
of an NFL mind as we have, and I love that, Arnie.
(01:34:21):
I love that mindset. If we have a four team
playoff committee, and let's say you don't even have to
be specific by conference, you can go with the four
best teams we've got. And I know it's captain obvious
two when you have, you know, a once to what
to two seeds in a one seed? But I do
think that you'd have at least three of these four
(01:34:41):
in that conversation. I mean Baltimore and New Orleans. But
you know, Titans have been that team that gets hot
at the right time, pretty good. I think it's Patriots,
the consistently good team. I'm asking you, no, you leave
them out. They were one of the top four teams
even though they had a two seed that are excuse me,
a three seed? Um, no, you were gonna put him
in there. I should have had the two seat if
(01:35:03):
they didn't choke that game away to the Dolphins show.
Chris is correct, because remember the Chiefs already beat the
Patriots head to head, and the forty Niners already beat
New Orleans and Green Bay head to head. This is
what I'm saying, Get away from the seatings in these rankings.
Let's just get a playoff committee for the NFL and
it will make everything so much play a whole season
(01:35:23):
and then it comes down to a playoff committee. All right, Hey,
when we come back to the guy, go Fox Sports
Radio Studios, quick game of Buyer Sell Arnie's pixel right
around the corner, and your tweets as well. It's Arnie
and Plank on a Fox Football Sunday. Arnie and Plank
Fox Sports Radio recapping divisional round Saturday and Sunday, getting
you ready for Championship Sunday. Coming to you live and
(01:35:46):
the guy go Fox Sports Radio Studios with some great news.

(01:36:08):
that should be on buy or sell? I just sent
it to you. Oh yeah, what's that, Willie or won'ty?
Hold on? Hold on? You know what Rabel said that
he would do if he got to the Super Bowl
or won the Super Bowl? Don't Well? It was on
Taylor Lauan's podcast whenever he made the comment that I
(01:36:30):
don't care, I'm trying to think of the best way
to put it. He would remove his man parts for
a super Bowl championship. How's that for a super And
his wife said she'll help him now, right exactly, So
I don't know how I would feel about that. It's like,
oh wait, yeah, you're supposed to be the buffer here,
but yeah, that that's a good buyer sell supposed to
(01:36:52):
be the best way to put it with any of
us getting in trouble, most specifically me. Uh So, with
that in mind, let's move on, shall we real quick?
Before we get to buy oursell? Uh Bubba Patcha. I
(01:37:13):
kind of like that, Chris. I completely agree, and do
not think you're crazy about the Titans at all. I've
told several people last night that the Titans have that
team of Destiny feel about them, and again you can't
help but think the exact same thing about Kansas City,
right exactly, or Green Bay or San Francisco for that matter. Well,
(01:37:36):
green Bay won a home game against Seattle, right San Francisco.
I don't know what I mean, am I? Do you
not think there's been a more helpful series of events
that have gone the way of say Tennessee and more
specifically Kansas City than what's happening to new To San
fran and Green Bay. I'm not trying to die on
the sale. I'm just asking because it seems like both
(01:37:57):
Tennessee Tennessee, through their own doing, I can't see he's
got a lot of help to get to this point
where they are right now. Well, because Baltimore losing and
it all started back with the Dolphins beating the Pages
in the final week. That started the whole everything in motion. Yeah, no, absolutely, absolutely,
So we're that in mind, Arnie. It's time to play
a little by our cell. Yes, So let's start with
(01:38:21):
something we have not spent a lot of time talking about. Tonight, Arnie,
buy or sell the home crowd is gonna be too
much for Clemson, and for the first time, in his career.
Tomorrow night, Trevor Lawrence is going to lose a college
football game that he starts. That is I'm buying that.
I'm actually buying that. Look, I don't think the crowd
(01:38:43):
is gonna be too much. I want to amend that
part a little bit. I think I think he'll be
okay and he'll be poised. I just think it's gonna
be an old fashioned shootout. I don't know if it's
gonna go over the total of sixty nine. I haven't
really seventy. I'm not sure where it is right now,
but I have a close to that. But I think
we're gonna see a great game game and I think
it's gonna be a one possession game. Will be decided
to buy like five or six points. I'll add I'll
(01:39:05):
add this to it as well too. I think it's
gonna be fun. And I know that a lot of
you guys that are die hard NFL people, some for
some reason look down on college football, have never understood that.
But you're gonna get a good show tonight or tomorrow
night if you're still on the West coast, because I
think l s Us offense is gonna click. I think
Clemson's gonna struggle to slow down early. If you're an
(01:39:27):
NFL draft fanatic, watch Isaiah Simmons for Clemson. He's gonna
be all over the field. You're probably gonna watch the
number one pick in the draft and Joe Burrow And
I mean, come on, could you have two coaches that
have approached things any differently than at Ord Groan and
Dabbo Sweeney. I mean, it's just fascinating to to see
these two work. And I will add one more thing,
aren't he It hasn't had the same juice as much
(01:39:48):
as I thought it would. This week off really killed
a momentum. I'm not sure why, but it did because
we haven't had a college football game that matters in
no offense to any of y'all bowl freaks out there,
but we haven't had a college football game that matters
in the championship picture since December, So you know, it's
it's been a minute, and I think this has been
a tough stretch alright, Sarty. With that in mind, buy
(01:40:10):
or sell. Regular season results matter when it comes to
a rematch both of these championship games or rematches of
regular season matchups. Niners beat the Packers, Titans rally to
beat the Chiefs. Buy or sell those results matter in
this game. No, I'm selling that. I don't think it
matters at all. I mean, look, I can't go back
and let you know, uh, you know, why did Green
(01:40:32):
Bay lose to San Francisco? What happened the week before?
How many injuries they had? How did they turn it around?
I mean the same thing with the Titans, even though
they won thirty thirty two, Um, they're a completely different
team than they were earlier in the year. Also, and
a matter of fact, Kansas City, Um, you know they
had to deal without Mahomes. So I'm gonna say it's
not that big of a deal statistically wise, your STA's wise,
(01:40:54):
your the sager said it means something. But I don't
think it means anything this time around, at least not
not for Kansas City of San Francisco. Buy your cell.
If you could have one of the four quarterbacks left
to build a team around, it would be Ryan Tannehill. No,
I'm totally kidding. Buy your sell one quarterback, one win,
gonna build your team around him, It would be Patrick Mahomes. Right,
(01:41:17):
of course, to be Patrick Mahomes. I asked you, though,
who would you rather have when we're talking about young
quarterbacks Mahomes, Watson, Jimmy g or Lamar Jackson. And I
still think I would take Patrick Mahomes over those. And
I think it's okay to say that you would take Mahomes,
aren't he and still dig the other three quarterbacks? It's
just it's not okay. But yes, why is it not okay?
(01:41:39):
I mean because you're ripping on the other three for
crying out loud? How dare you? How dare you put
them down? All right? And then one more? One more
before we move on and get to say Green and
already get an update and get through the tweets? Aren't
he buy or sell? Home field matters in the playoffs? Oh?
(01:42:00):
Of course it does. Hell yeah it matters. A matter
of fact, I'm ready to get rid of the bye week. Um,
and I know Baltimore loss, but I and that doesn't
help my case. But I think the bye week is
just such an unfair advantage. I think we have to
go to eight teams. But yeah, home field means everything
in the world to the NFL playoffs, no doubt about that.
(01:42:20):
In Kansas City and San Francisco, you'll get my picks
coming up. But I don't see them losing. I mean,
you do know this hasn't necessarily been a good playoff
for the home teams. But I agree with you, Arnie.
I'd much rather have my team playing at home in
late December early January than having to worry about the road.
I would contend that there's might might be a chance
(01:42:42):
in New England still playing today if they didn't have
to play that first road game, you know, that first round.
Then how's Edelman gonna be jumping on Mercedes Benzes in
in Beverly Hills. I don't know that how that's gonna work.
Then he would have been playing. That's the issue, man,
These these Patriot guys, they're just all in on the
game plan. They don't know what to do when they
don't have a game going on. Oh oh, I got
(01:43:03):
one more buy or sell hold on his saga one more.
There is a hack of a rumor going around right
now involving the future of the booth on Monday Night Football,
and according to reports, I think Mike McCarthy has been
all over this. He covers the front office sports ESPN
is preparing to offer Tony Romo a multi year deal
(01:43:26):
that would pay him between ten million to fourteen million
dollars a year for one game a week. One Arnie
buy or sell Tony Romo is definitely worth that. Oh geez.
I like Tony and I like the analysis that he gives.
(01:43:48):
But no, no one's worth ten, twelve or fourteen million
to call one football game? Are you insane? Get out
of here. I gotta be honest. I don't let the announcers,
no matter who they are, are um influence whether I'm
gonna like a game or not. I enjoyed the game
if the announcers are good or bad. If it's a
close game and it's a one possession game, the announcers
(01:44:09):
don't spoil it for me either way. Well, Steve de
Saga rolls into the guy called Fox Sports Radio Studios
and get us caught up on everything, and you have
a little tidbit on this Romo news. Two. Yeah, somebody
had tweeted out a guy who follows TV ratings. Why
would he go from the Monday Night Football or to
the Monday Night Football on cable which gets like five
million viewers fewer than the regair channel gets every week.
(01:44:32):
For it's a NFL game and you'd be paired not
with Jim Nance, but somebody else. I think that's that's
the big thing, is not being paired paired with Nance.
But the counter to that is you wouldn't have to
worry about it affecting your attempt at the p g
A tour too terribly much, and you could also pretty
much predict any play. Because exactly how high has the
(01:44:54):
bar been set for NFL analysts on Monday Night football
the last couple of years? Very very By the way, Alrety,
I looked up those TV ratings for the Jeopardy You're corrected,
and let's compare because I mentioned the Thursday Night Granted
it's cable, but the NBA on TNT had the Russell
Westbrook returned to Oklahoma City. That was one point six million.
Jeopardy got fifteen point six million on the prime time
(01:45:16):
Who WHA? The special Jeopardy got fifteen point six million?
What what are the Monday Night Football? I think that
average twelve? In fact, this is even more than the
Thursday night games got for the Fox package this year
that was fifteen million for the season. Jeopardy last Thursday
fifteen and a half. Approximately but these NFL games got
into twenty These playoff games are on the twenties something millions.
(01:45:36):
Oh sure, and the Sunday games get more than fifteen
pretty good by Jeopardy. Yeah, they're just aren't prime time
shows that get fifteen million anymore? And then Jeopardy remember
it's the first to three wins. So they only had
the three last week. They're gonna have three or four
this week. And and it was on a well, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
That's not like Musty TV or on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesay
or something like that. Well that's my point. There isn't
(01:45:58):
Musty TV anymore pretty much in prime time. Absolutely, it's
very very impressive. By the way, as we had a
Kansas City fifty one thirty one final in the playoffs
to come back against Houston. Green Bay won its game
as well. When's the last time a team scored more
than fifty one points in a playoff game? The Buffalo
(01:46:19):
Bills against the Raiders. Oh that wasn't fifty one three?
Actually more recent I found this. It was twenty years ago.
The Jacksonville Jaguars won sixty two to seven against the Dolphins.
Oh jeez, I should have known that That put Jacksonville's
record at the time at fifteen and two, and then
(01:46:40):
they lost the next week to Tennessee in the a
f C Championship. They lost for a third time in
the same season to Tennessee. It was the first time
that not only had a team lost to the same
opponent three times, but the playoff loss was at home
and it wasn't even close. And so Tennessee went to
the Super Bowl that year. But yeah, a sixty two
(01:47:01):
to seven win, and that was your last game of
the year to get a wain correct And as it
turned out, last game for Dan Marino of the Dolphins,
last game for Jimmy Johnson of the Dolphins. And who
goes into the Hall of Fame tonight Jimmy Johnson and
Bill Kawer takes one of the slots last night. Why
(01:47:21):
people may ask are we having twenty people getting into
the Pro Football Hall of Fame for the class of
It's because it's the NFL centennial and I want to
celebrate that way. So this centennial slate includes the two
coaches name this weekend, and then what we'll find out
Wednesday morning early, which is ten senior players and three
contributors either coach or someone who's not a coach or player.
(01:47:44):
Three of those. Yeah, like you, we'll get into the
Pro Football Hall of Fame. And then finally the night
before the Super Bowl will get the regular five from
the selection committee. But yes, it's a huge, huge class
for We'll get coaching news in a moment, but the
details on the NFL playoff home wins for Green Bay
and Kansas City. Packers were up on Seattle late third
quarter and beat him twenty three, sacking Russell Westbrook five times.
(01:48:08):
Marshawn Lynch did have to one yard touchdown runs but
finished with twelve carries twenty six yards. Tonight, Davante Adams
eight catches a hundred sixty yards and two scores, teammate
Aaron Jones to one yard touchdown touchdown runs and so
San Francisco will host Green Bay in the NFC title
Game on Fox next Sunday. Before that, it will be
Kansas City hosting the Titans for the a f C
(01:48:29):
ground Casey was down twenty four nothing second quarter and
still beat Houston thirty one. Patrick Mahomes through four touchdown
passes just in the second period five in the game.
In fact, his offense scored touchdowns on seven straight drives,
and Mahomes today had seven carries for fifty three yards
rushing as well. And how about this, After the first quarter,
the Kansas City offense forty five plays first downs, they
(01:48:55):
scored forty one straight points at one point starting in
the second quarter, So yeah, that was amazing. Cleveland Browns
will have a new head coach, Kevin Stefanski, aged thirty seven,
who's been on Minnesota's staff. He's Cleveland's tenth head coach
in twenty years. Now. The Browns will have to hire
a GM. Cleveland will reportedly talk to Andrew Barry of Philadelphia,
who's ex of Cleveland. The Broncos fired offensive coordinator Rich Ganderella,
(01:49:17):
likely to be replaced in Denver by Pat Shermer, according
to NFL Network. The Giants new defensive coordinators Patrick Graham
from the Dolphins Miami expected to promote Josh Boyer NBA
Utah one. It's ninth straight and then Denver beat the
Clippers tonight, so Clippers aren't in second place behind the
Lakers in the West anymore. It's Utah and Denver tied
for a second in the bunched up standings. And finally
(01:49:38):
college hoops, not just Oregon State pounding ranked sending them
out of the poll sixty five Colorado ripped Utah as well.
But we had eighth ranked Michigan State loset two at
Perdue today, proof that I'm not saying there are no
good teams, but wow, part look in torth Carolina. Yeah, well,
(01:50:02):
I'm talking about teams in the top ten and in
the rotating the revolving door of number one's we had
the first month or two. UH, Minnesota had a late
eleven o run to at home beat nineteenth rank Michigan. UH.
There was a game with number twenty one Memphis down
thirteen with under thirteen minutes to go and still won
at South Florida sixty four. Attendance in Tampa was five
thousand for that And finally, a double overtime game at
(01:50:25):
Connecticut number twenty three Wichita State wins it in double
ot eight eight six, even though Wichita had blown a
nine point lead in the final minute of regulations and
had missed a lamp at the end of the first overtime,
still one in the second overtime, and there was an
NHL Florida eight four over Toronto back to you. Oh wait,
we got the Farmers back this year. I gotta get
to this. We're back to the show in ten seconds. First,
(01:50:47):
a word from Farmers witer means it's time to bundle
up your insurance. Bundle home on auto with Farmers, and
you could save an average of farmers to get a
quote today Farmers for pretty twenty teens might have seen
enter in my firm Stofore Insurance Exchanges and filiates prosun
avlable on every state. And as we look ahead to
the a f C matchup next Sunday, Kansas City's offense
regular season number one in the a f C in
(01:51:09):
passing yards. Tennessee was number two in rushing yards behind Baltimore.
It's kind of like, not quite the extreme, but kind
of like what we're getting tomorrow night with the l
s U offense against the Clemson defense. Look at you,
Look at you, dis Seger, good stuff man, as we
come to you live and the Geico Fox Sports Radio
studios fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more
(01:51:31):
on car insurance. You need this Geico Geico dot Com
are called seven Otto. The only hard part figuring out
which way is easier. All right, we got some good
tweets to get to Uh Patriot Jayhawk is a little
bit hot, and I want to clarify something. He writes,
Chiefs got a lot of help to get where they are.
They went twelve and four beat the Patriots already this season.
(01:51:53):
You don't look into that or a playoff win that
your special teams tried to give away. I mean, because
everybody had Miami beating New England in weeks seventeen to
give you the two seats, and because this amazing recovery
that Patrick Mahomes had. Bro you got a break in
week seventeen and got the bye week. Everybody celebrates it.
Everyone gets it. I'm not saying you're lucky, but that's
(01:52:15):
pretty damn lucky, Aren'tie. That's go beat New England. Got
to get rid of that bye week. It's too much
of an unfair advantage. That's why if you have eight
teams will make it better anyway, and it will be
a much more enjoyable event. Nobody gets the bye week.
Everybody's got to play, so let's let's get rid of
that garbage. Eric, right, it's amazing that the Titans lost
to Kyle Allen. But when you're hot, you're hot. I
(01:52:41):
like this from at Ralphs, the man who's checking in
from Vegas. I believe of the two conference championship games,
Arenie spanierd, which team that lost having faced each other
in the regular season, do you have bouncing back to
get the win? Neither probably Kansas Oh so you got
the Titans beat in Kansas City? No no, oh, I said, no,
I have Kansas City winning. Okay, I thought you said
(01:53:01):
winning again. I'm sorry. I got Kansas City coming back
and winning. Uh. And I got San Francisco winning. I'll
give the scores later on, but there's no way Kansas
City gonna lose next week. No way, no how, It's
just idn't possible. I don't see that happening, calibert writes,
AREN'TI just twenty four hours ago you praised the Titans
upset victory, and now tonight you're heel turning on the Titans.
(01:53:22):
Not he'll turning. I'm just look, I gave them the
credit we did yesterday. We said congratulations Tannehill one with
passing under a hundred yards. They ran the ball like crazy.
I still don't know why you can't put nine and
ten in the box and stop Henry. Somebody got to
tackle him, but um I gave him a lot of credit.
I just don't think they'll be able to do with
the Kansas City Casey Sly writes, question, there's Bill O'Brien
(01:53:44):
not allowed to Shaun Watson to run and no hettle offense.
I was shocked. There was no sense of urgency. They
were still huddling the entire game and allowing the play
clock to dwindle down. Don't worry, though, I'll take it
go Chiefs. I was a little surprised about that. Also,
Um I've but I've seen them do the no huddle offense,
I thought during the regular season, so I could be
(01:54:05):
mistaken about that. They did it against Buffalo earlier. So yeah,
it's kind of surprising. And then one more here Eddie
hits it on the head. The Titans are flat out
better than the Ravens. Blew me away. Ryan Tannehill looked
like Elway when he completed the past. Derrick Henry is
a grown man, and the Titans defense socked the Ravens
in the mouth. Add it all up and it's one
and done for Baltimore. You know, it's kind of wild is.
(01:54:29):
People will start trying to question Patrick Mahomes if they
don't win next week, and you know what's gonna happen,
right if they all will see he can get to
the Big Game, but he can't get you to the
super Bowl. I think it's not gonna matter. And well,
who's gonna get more criticism for the start of next year,
Patrick go Holmes if he doesn't win, or Lamar Jackson. Oh,
I think Lamar Jackson's gonna get crushed Arnie starting probably
(01:54:50):
already tomorrow, starting last night, and I think it's gonna
be non Scott stop. There's gonna be a lot of
people that are tearing down the goal post after the
second season of his career when he might win the
m v P. But again, you know that's that's what
you get when you have Homes would have been right
up there with him if they would have blown that today.
Absolutely yeah, yeah, But I mean, gosh, Baltimore just looks
(01:55:10):
so inept last night. It's you deserve You're gonna get
blasted when you play that poorly and you have everything
laid out in front of you, all right, when we
come back to the guy, go Fox Sports Radio Studios.
It's what you all came here for. Tonight. Arnie's picks
are next Plank on a Fox Football Sunday Fun show Tonight,
Arnie and Plank. That's Arnie Spanier on Chris Plank. Great
(01:55:32):
job by Bobo running the show and the Wheels of
Steel awesome more producing three guests and I lead a lap.
Good stuff all night long. If you missed any of it,
Fox Sports Radio dot Com find the podcast or in
the iTunes store podcast store. Simply searched Fox Sports Weekends
to SAGRA on updates all night long. It's been a
(01:55:52):
fun night, so you only think of one way to
make it complete. Arnie Spanier, take us home with our
picks A lot to get to national championship game in
college football Conference championships in the NFL. Let's go. Let's
go as we start with L s U and Clemson,
(01:56:13):
And let me tell you what's going to happen in
this game. L s HO is gonna get out to
the early lead and people to go, wow, They're gonna
blow out cleps And we told you Clemson is so good.
But Clemson is gonna fight their way back. It's going
to be a close game and halftime. I could even
see it being tied, but Clemson comes out strong in
the second half. It's a back and fourth game, and
(01:56:33):
Clemson will have a thirty one to thirty lead with
a little bit over a minute left in the game.
L s Uo with the ball and Burrow will lead L.
S U down for the touchdown. Final score L s
Sho thirty seven, Clemson thirty one. You like that score? Uh,
(01:56:55):
let's get that'd be the under my point, right, yeah,
sixty seventy right around there. Kansas City and the Titans. Again,
much respect for the Titans, what they've been for what
they've been able to do, But this game is gonna
be close in the first half. Kansas City is not
gonna pull it away. They'll be a little conservative, and
(01:57:17):
I can again see this game being like thirteen thirteen
and a half. Then Kansas City really picks it up,
blows them out in the second half and wins it
forty one, twenty three over the Titans. Now that leaves
San Francisco and Green Bay, and this is actually gonna
be more of a defensive battle than you think. I
(01:57:38):
could see the game being tight at twenty and then
we go to over time where Jimmy g throws a
touchdown on the first drive and people go green. They
didn't even get the ball. So what San Francisco wins
it over time twenties six twenty, which means we'll have
a Kansas City San Francisco super Bowl. There you have
(01:58:00):
my picks. Do with them as you please. Remember they're
no longer strictly for entertainment purposes only. Thank you, Thank you. Thanks.
Pretty good picks there. I feel good about that. How'd
your picks end up this year? Were you feeling good?
They've they've bounced back for you. No they didn't, not
not in the NFL. No, they didn't bounce back. But
I feel good about these these ones. I feel better
(01:58:22):
about these. Can't get worse. It's one of those situations
where you know I'm about over six, but I mean,
at least you get a hit every now and then
you'll feel good about things. Yeah. I had the worst
season ever in picking games. I don't know what the
heck was wrong with me. You see the report that
Adam Schefter had tonight um. According to the latest NFL Buzz,
Drew Brees has already started receiving phone calls from a
(01:58:43):
TV Network about whether or not he'd be interested in
calling games. Now, there hasn't been a decision made about
Drew brees future. He is the least talked about of
the two veteran free agency other day Tom Brady. But
what if Drew Brees hangs it up and just sides
Tony were almost getting ten to fourteen mill for TV.
Potentially that could be a little bit of a seismic
(01:59:06):
shift in the quarterback off season care So don't you think, well,
obviously that would be a big one. Then what do
they do as the replacement Teddy Bridgewater? What's gonna happen there?
I'm still waiting to see what's gonna happen with Tom Brady.
To me, that's the that's the first domino that's got
the fall. What if Sean Payton made a call to
Cleveland and said, new court, new coordinator, maybe you don't
(01:59:28):
want Baker Mayfield anymore. I'll take him off your hands
for a first round picking A player said that, I'm
not so sure that Baker Mayfield's long for Cleveland. I
didn't say that he's gonna end up with the Saints,
but I got a feeling maybe somebody wants to go
and you know, pull the trigger and pick somebody up
like him. Um, maybe even somebody like Bill Belichick if
they pass on Brady the Okay, I can tell you
(01:59:50):
guys this now. The two coaches, all right, maybe I
should be more specific or generic. I should be more generic.
The two teams that did the most work on Baker
Mayfield coming out of college that didn't have a chance
to draft him. But the Patriots were one. Patriots were one,
the Saints were the other. And from everything I heard,
(02:00:10):
Josh McCown and Drew not Drew Brees Sean Payton were
in love with the dude. So if you've got Kevin
Stefanski coming in and he might want a different type
of quarterback, I don't know who that would be. I mean,
hecky had Kirk Cousins this year, so I don't know.
I don't know what more you would want. But uh,
(02:00:31):
I don't know, Arnie, I better not go back down
that road or what what do you mean by that? Wrong?
I mean, oh, oh, I see what you're saying. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
you know with Baker Mayfield, that goodness, I I didn't
get him because he didn't turn out to be anything special.
Maybe or maybe you know Packer was pretty good his
first year and then all of a sudden how to
downslide his second year. I mean, everyone thought he was
(02:00:53):
gonna have a great sophomore season and it didn't work out.
So maybe if he's available, someone picks up the phone
tries to make a move, because, hey, if Drew Brees
hangs it off, New Orleans doesn't have a quarterback under
contract outside of the kid from b Y you Taysom
Hill against Teddy Bridgewater is a free agent as well too,
So again, it's irrelevant to what happened today, but a
(02:01:15):
fascinating side story about the future of one Drew Brees.
So Arnie. Next week, whenever we wrap this up, we'll
be previewing the Super Bowl. Kansas City and San Francisco.
You have so cursed both of those teams. I'm so sorry,
Kansas City Chief. San fran has been one hell of
(02:01:36):
a run so far up, Joe will be back. You
guys aren't going anywhere at all. Hey, Big Ben Mallard
is coming up next to recap the day, so let's
get angry about the Stefanski hiring in Cleveland and much
I'm Chris playing. We'll see you guys next to next
week to preview the Super Bowl on Fox Sports Radio
