I was in I had a travel issue in getting
out of New York on Thursday, and so I was
up early Friday to get to get there. I was
late for the Chiefs game Friday night. Always did bed
last night before the end of the Michigan game. I
felt good about where I was at, though in my
way during that game, so I went to sleep. Guys,

I'm getting tired of this of the bad beat discussion
about football games. I feel like we have gotten the
point where we just throw that word out well actually
knowing what it means. Can I give you as an example?
And of course we give you as an example. So

I wake up this morning and listening to some cultural podcasts.
I'm sort of reading, you know, social media. I see
I see Lane Kiffin say, hey, guys, I'm sorry the
old Miss coach I didn't cover for you. Guys. Actually,
last night right and people were talking about that game
is a bad beat. If you had Old Miss minus
nine or minus ten, whatever it was, Kentucky was inside
the number for ninety eight percent of this game. They

kicked the late Old Miss went up thirty twenty with uh,
here we go with one excuse me, no, that's the
wrong one. Here they went. They went up. Yeah, yeah,
thirty twenty with one ten left in this game. Okay,
before that, Kentucky was was was in the number covering

(02:33):
for fifty nine minutes. Kentucky came back down and kicked
the field goal to end up covering that game. How
is that a bad beat? How is that a bad beat?
The right side was Kentucky. If Old miss had had
covered that game, then the Kentucky backers would have a
bad beat. If you were covering for fifty nine minutes
of a game and you don't cover in the end,

that's a bad beat. If you're a Candadis fan today,
sorry you got that's a bad beat. Missouri trying to
run the clock out. You cover the whole game. They
scored fifty five years touchdown, they went by eleven and
I think it was eleven, and you don't cover yard Kansas.
I'm just kind of frustrated with this. Like everyone says
that none of it is a bad beat. It's not
that way. And I was spent money to someone last night.
It's not. If you're if you're do you agree with me?

bad beat if you're if you're if you're covering for
fifty nine minutes.

Well, we had shows about that. Now there's like, you know,
not just not just.

It's not why there beats, not just SVP. It's first
thing I said there, Yeah, because they had nothing to
talk about and they only watched the games from their
side of the ball, like I've said, uh, and they
just think that that was a bad beat because I lost.
They they didn't lose because they bet that game on
their side. Of course they're going to come up with
reasons and they say, oh, just people in general that

like I said, the human condition, we're made up of
people that don't like to lose, and we have to
look for reasons why we lose. And it can't be
because we picked the bad team. It's oh, oh it's
a bad beat because of such and such. So I
didn't know what you were going to open up with there,

It's it's a different category, right, Like, it's not a
bad beat, so you're miscategorizing it. For anybody who says
that it was, I would say that you know your
emotions got teased, right, Like you're sitting there the whole

and you're like, but wait, but wait, maybe it will

work out, and then it doesn't. You know, It's it's
sort of like, I don't know. The the Brazilian underwear

bad beat. And the second thing about college football that
I just it irks me to no end. We're gonna

frustrations on the short side here. I had a great
day yesterday, five to five and two contest day, first
content ever done. I just looked at the standings. I'm

sitting good. I'm never gonna win, man Like I'm in
the culturable contest with the Super Bowl. I mean it
was like, you guys in I head are eleven and two,
eleven and three, Like, I'm just not gonna be a.

He's like, I'm just I'm nine and five. I'm off
to a great start. Just no chance. Now there's someone
who's one to thirteen, which feels impossible to do. Wow,
that feels way tougher than nine to five. Is like,
is is why Bryce Underwood's Mission's quarterback? Okay, he's eighteen
years old. He made a second start on the road

at Norman, and the entire internet is crapping on this kid,
and I don't understand. Do you know? I bet against
Michigan last night. I bet their team total under twenty
and a half? Is my favorite play of the week.
Is my best bet on some of these shows I do.
I mentioned yesterday I think in the Morning with uh
with Anthony on the Fellows, is that that is the

hardest position in all college football, true freshman, first road start,
top fifteen team against a great defense, when you have
an offense line's not very good. And that was the
performance we should have all expected anything better than that.
You like you clapp her and you say, great job, buddy,
but the harshness and I'll tell you where this is going.

Like so Oregon has Dante More now and Dante More's
a true freshman. Had the same games at UCLA on
the road at U top ten, Utah on the road
at ten when Oregon State on the road at Washington State,
or it was so we played on the road a
third time as a starter, and it wasn't pretty because
it's hard. It's hard. And then like so why do

we why are we so hard on an eighteen year
old making the second start in Norman, I think anything,
And again, Michigan really should have had like six points.
I mean they had one long touchdo on that seventy
five yeard touchdown run. Otherwise their offense had about two
hundre yards and like that was it. Brian, I frustrats
the heck out of me. I know, like like you
FCJ Carr and ned Am he actually seed expectations against Miami.

But if he had played poorly, I would have been like, yeah,
that makes sense. I picked Miami in that game for
that reason. Like he's retrofreshman though making his first start,
top ten team on the road. He's gonna struggle. That's
what the sport is, you know, hardest to play on
the road in general. And then add in the defense
and the noise and Michigan's offense. I don't think it's
like the best designed offense for an Oklahoma game, like,

you know, so all these things. I just think we
got to give these guys grace.

Man No, it's it's really important because you're providing context.
I think a lot of people take it out of
context where you're just not factoring in first road start
in a crazy environment that has to be factored in
there to what you expect and what happened, and there
are a lot of people just don't apply it.

They're just like, there are people hitting me up about c. J.

Carr, who, all things considered, played pretty well against Miami,
and they're just like, oh, you didn't look the part.
And I was kind of like you where I'm like,
this first road start, it's the first college start. What
you like settled down a little bit on this one.

Listen arch Manning last week his first start against Ohio State.
Some of those throws, there's just no excuse for those
so he's skipping his first throw.

And started though he's played games like he's been a right.
That's why I picked Texas because, yeah, he has played before.

So there are some things where yeah, I get it,
even in spite of first road start or first real
start on the road. Okay, you can't, you know, justify
some of those throws fair. But to just chalk everything
up and be like this guy's a hack, it's like,
to your point, it's the first road start. You got
to take that. You can't take that out of context.

Brian Jeff went five and two yesterday. Yeah, came into

I bet on favorites heavy yesterday. I had USC minus
twenty eight and a half. I had Organ minus twenty nine.
I had Alabama minus thirty seven. Yeah, no, you can do.

It's fine up this week. I'll tell you right now,
it's not. It won't be in the contest because they're
playing Villanova. But Penn State looked bad yesterday. They get
Villanova this weekend. It's gonna be forty two and a half,
forty five and a half. I don't care. I'm taking
as soon as that number drops Friday night. Yeah, I'm
signing up for that. I had Utah and now I
wasn't the content that Utah minus forty two and a
half they won sixty nine to nine. Some of these

Pick and choose, especially in the season.

Just yet pick and choose your spot for those to
do that. I mean, look, I didn't take LSU or
Jordan Georgia. The rain delay kind of screwed them, I think,
covering the spread yesterday because they were just when you
have a two hour rain delay, just we saw in
the Thursday night game, so we were going to sleep. I
went to bed twenty four to twenty at the Raindolay
Thursday night football, all right, I had to wake up

at four o'clock to fly home. I woke up, looked
at my phone twenty four to twenty. I thought the
game was suspended.

I was.

I didn't realize they had played the rest of the
tame and they punted any times in a row. I
was like, I'm not tiving the over in that game.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
Oh that was insane.

And I actually I was legit thought the game was
suspended and I was looking to see like the news
of when they're going to make it up. And no, no,
they just that was it. The game just no one
scored for rain delays are hard like that. You get
warmed up, especially second half, like get warmed up and
then you set off back down for an hour and
a half. You just emotionally. And I'd been in these
in the preseason for the most part is the preseason

the South. You have those thunderstorms. You just don't want
to play anymore.

You're gonna play, Jeff, you just hit me up about this.

What happens in that locker room?

Are you sitting on the bench and you're just and

Just sit there. I mean, look, Consworth even talked about

gonna be good, like especially after halftime. Right, so you
have the halftime, you come back out, you start playing again,
and then you have an hour and a half break.
Your body is just like you're just like because you
sit there that you're in the locker, nothing to do.

Sit there. You probably take your pads off, you cut
your tape off, your hands like you just on your phone,
like I you just you justnds. You might if it's
that long. If it's that long, you look crack. Look
I take my hands pretty heavily. If I've used the potty,
I can't. I can't do it. I got to. I've
cut my tape off, you know, look, I gotta which

I had a I made a rule essentially in my
brain over playing high school college NFL one time with
my tape on. Otherwise I just my body knew like
we're done, We're just we're closed off. Soon as the
hands get taped up, and so you know, like again
like if if if I knew I had an hour
and a half delay, I would probably cut my tape

off and retape. So my tape was like still firm
on my hands. I'm not cutting my ankle tape off, probably,
but I'll probably get rid of I'd probably cut my
hands off. Yeah, I mean, if I'm if I'm sitting
there for an hour and a half in the locker room,
I'm not gonna keep my hands taped, So I would.

Jeff, would you think automatically then from this experience, would
you say to yourself, unders going to be a bet
second half or live?

Speaker 3 (12:39):
You could live?

Speaker 6 (12:41):
Yeah, it would have been live. I mean, like think
about Okay, So we basically had we had the Eagles
Cowboys game raindlad and then we had to believe two
games Yesterday got rain delaid. The Clemsing game got rain delaid,
and the Georgia we had weather last night in the
South and we got we got crazy thumbs storms here.
It was super hot yesterday. Both those games went under.
Georgia it comes in was twenty seven sixteen, and then

we had Georgia was what twenty four to six. I
think it was a pretty twenty five six something like that.
It's low scoring, right, yea twenty eight six, twenty eight six,
So those are both under Week one. The UCF game
got rain delayed. Forever. That was what six nothing, I
was some insane number, like some insanely low number like that.
I just think it's really difficult in those situations to uh,

to play, to get back up emotionally when you've sort
of you even even started the game, Like there's a
little bit of of just emotional drainage just sitting in
the locker room waiting, waiting to play again. So I'm
I'm not surprised now. Again, it's not a bl and all.
I can't tell you just take every under every time
there's a long rain delay. But I certainly think it's

worth thinking about when it comes to how you might
handicap a game in the you know, live live in
the game try off on the UCF or Week one
was and.

I was gonna say College m pro S exactly.

It was seventeen seventeen ten. They played Jacksonville State in
Week one and that was a rain de lake game
forever and that one under of course as well. So
I think crack you had that under that week is
in that game. So I just wanting to note Reindla,
like today, I don't know if that storm's probably on
it is bad today, It's not that hot outside. But
if you get storms for a long time, man, it's
really mentally draining us in that locker om and do nothing.

Plus you you taped up your man area too, right,
it wasn't just the hands, so you had to you know,
you had to get the tape gone with a couple

be annoying to move sure with a cup and you
only got time you get hitting the groin. But that
someone does it on purpose there's no like you rarely

get groin shots, so uh no, Brian, there's there's just
a hand tape, knee tape, ankle tape, elbow, shoulder, and
uh I'll tell you what, there' gonna be some teams
today that might have to have some tape removed that
they can play better because some ugly, ugly numbers today.

All right, So I tread lightly, tread carefully here when
it comes to trends, because I know you crack you
like to, you know, the kembe matumbo, some of these
trends like no, no, no, the wagging finger in front

of the face of some of these people stating trends.
But I do from time to time, I think there's
something to some of these trends. Try this one on.
So home underdogs and there are a couple of them
in this week. You know, there are three of them
that I see right now, home underdogs. So home underdogs
in week one. This goes back to twenty ten against

the number. They are twenty three and seven.

Wow.

If you want something a little more.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
Recent, if you go back to twenty eighteen, right, home
underdogs in week one, ten and two against the spread.
So if you think about the Browns as a home
underdog plus five and a half, the Seahawks are a
home underdog. These are divisional home underdogs too. That's the
distinction that I didn't mention. Shame on me, divisional home

underdogs in week one. That's also applying to the Falcons here.
Do you think there's something too that I absolutely do?
But you know a lot of sometimes Yeah.

Actually out a ton of them, so very unusual, Very good, Brian,

Yeah. I mean it's just week one, like you have,
you're all fresh, right, there's no injuries, You've had two
weeks to prepare for these games. You're gonna see different
things than you're prepared for. I'm on one for sure
which is the Browns. I got to look and see

what other ones I have. I have pulled up here.
I've made so many wagers the last couple of days.
You know, the Browns come to mind. Look that the
Jets is a super ugly side, but it makes sense
fading Rogers in this game. Of the problem is right
now the number is no, it's back to three minus
one twenty five. There was an opportunity to get that.
That number has been sort of up and down, you know,

throughout throughout the day. I thought that we guys should
say so, I'm I agree with with the trend as
far as where Look you're Seattle. You're at home against
the Niners with McCaffrey a little beat up still, and
I get this trend a lot the Browns. To me,
I like the Browns a lot to cover this game.
The Falcons number, you can't bet it now. You missed
on the best number. It's not one. I bet MGM,

so you missed on that one. I would not play
the Saints. I wouldn't do it. You're welcome to. I
wouldn't there. You know, it's not not my not my
cup of tea. So I I totally get it you
Buffalo late tonight and plus one at the moment. So uh,
these make it makes a lot of sense on these sides.
One thing I haven't done, Brian, like I haven't looked
at baseball. I do look at baseball all yesterday at

all yesterday, even though as it was playing, which is
a shocker for me, I just was so I have
no idea, just I it's been so football it's the best. Oh,
it's absolute best. I do to feit this guy today though,
I need to make that wager I have.

This is the first year I can remember that. I
am focusing a little bit more on sides and looking
now my list, boy, I have bet a lot of
these dogs. Giants are still six out there. Actually six
and a half came up today at one of the
key sports books. So actually a lot of Washington money
coming coming in against against the Giants. So Giants, Cleveland,

there were some sixes out there. You have to go
by the five and a half now, which is fine.
I agree. I am on. You know, Atlanta, I don't
know what I sent to you, Jeff, I don't know
if did Atlanta and Seattle I think I sent both
of them on Yeah, but but they have come down
a little bit again. Not not now when you use

portion of bankroll, I'm betting like one third of what
I'm betting on a prop on the NFL side. But
I am betting NFL sides this year. I like something
that people don't like this. We're gonna go over all
these games, I understand, But boy, the support for Baltimore. Wow,
I can every single syndicate that I know, Every wise

guy that I know that's betting the game is betting Baltimore.

I haven't found one person betting Buffalo.

So everyone I've talked to you this week about this game,
same thing. I will tell you. There's the one side
that I'm just gonna have to just suck it up
today is the Giants. The bartender he's making forgot about
that he will he's on the Commanders today. Correction was
fort until last year when he went like fifty five

sixty percent, which is incredible. So like he from years
and years forty, I think he'll come back to Earth.
But I just think the Commanders are the right side.
I just can't get over it. But you have Europe
plus six crack. I don't want to be the side
of the bartender. Sure, I feel like I'm on an
island here with the commanders. I'd probably wrong if you're
on an island on a team in this game.

So doing with the voice this year?

Right? So the Voice is not not giving out picks
quite the same? I think the voice really the voice
had a couple couple of rough months. All the months
that are rough, and they're not giving out wagers anymore
on social media. I gotta go in the app and
fire them.

And I just don't care enough why the voice? Why
is the non.

Social voices very bad at gambling? And I think the
Voice is getting a little bit frustrated with this being bad.
I mean they there's the tracking has been like having
weeks where the voice is is thirteen and forty in
a given week. So, ok, try to find the voice's
places for today. I'm trying to find them.

But if you could find them on the break, let
us know. I want to know every week and then
it's you know, and guys, guys and girls listening. What
the voice is is just a bad person in social media,
and we bet against. It's just as good to find
a losing handicapper as it is a winning handicapper. So

we found one over the years that's absolutely buried people
put them in homeless shelters, and we let them, you know,
we bet against the voice.

And the thing about last year, too, is the Voice

see this changing here. This goes back to what twenty nineteen.
The last six years, their record in weeks one and
two is one and eleven. That's under head coach Zach Taylor.
The first year, Burrow wasn't there, but he's been there

you saw in the preseason the Ones got a lot
more playing time, starters.

them winning outright, because there's such a focus for the
Bengals not to start off slowly as they have in
the last six years. So I think sometimes a trend
is going to reverse, and I think it's a great
spot for it to reverse. In terms of the Bengals
at least winning today, I can see that happening.

I think the Browns Flacco, which is that week one healthy,
it's going to be all season. You have a ton

We have two teams that won playoff games last year,
both predicted to make the playoffs again this year. The
Texans where everybody's darling to the start last season, but
Stroud and the offense was very inconsistent throughout the regular season.
So remember they still crushed the Chargers in the first
round of the playoffs and they played the Chiefs tight,
eventually falling. It was twenty seven to nineteen. It was

something like that, and that was the score I think
into the eventual AFC champs. The Rams surprised a lot
of people last year. You know, I think I had
them at four to one to win the division. Pretty
good sized bet here.

In town, and that really kind of surprised me. I
locked it up the last week, you know.

But they you know, they made it to the Divisional
round playoffs before losing to the eventual Super Bowl champs Eagles,

thought they were really in that game. This offseason, we've
all heard about the Rams camp, about of course, thirty
seven year old Matt Stafford's back issues, and speculation on
if you'll be able to start game one. Well, Stafford

will start today, but he will have the Rams fans
I'm sure cringing a little bit every time he takes
a hit. Going back to the Texas, their offseason was
all about rebuilding their offensive line. We just don't know
how they developed in camp though, Jeff, the offensive line
looks like they really have, you know, have to work
well together to be successful. On how long does it

usually take to gel as a unit before you make
some changes?

What do you think that it really depends on the team. Honestly, Crack,
you know you can have a situation where like you
had a couple of pieces and your fine, uh situation
where Houston's for them specifically. Right, So you have a
new offense to to to think about. Right, So new
offense and you have an offensive line that you have
a rookie left tackle probably but maybe Camp Robinson plays.

You know, you have your veteran at center, your veteran right.
It's just like kind of a mismatch hodge podge group
of guys right now. I can't give you a great
answer for that. I just know that if they can,
if they can give him a little bit of time,
he's got. He's got, you know, the ability to Stroud
does to have weapons and make plays. And so I

think it's it's certainly worth thinking about that when it
comes in. I want to find something the future market
is still love for football. It's got to be right.
There's still future market up right now. I'm trying to
have a hard time finding it because I like Jared Verse,
who's the Rams pass rusher to go over his sacks
for the season. I'm trying to see. But I don't
think that m YM has that market up with moment.

But Jared versus is good and the sack number is
way too low. It's something I've played a couple of
times this year. Betmjim had it up early this season.
I don't sign up now at the moment, but those
markets I think are fun to play, some of those

very diligent to find those markets when they come up.

who battled a lot of injuries last season. Yeah, also

over immediately hit. It's like a twenty yard rush immediately

was over done. Like that is a somebody's backup running
backs guys. Depends on the team, right, But if you're
in a situation where you have a by committee type
situation or even by committee like a team that the
Eagles run ball on third down a bunch, that's when
their backup running back is in and they because Barkley
plays so much, they rotate those guys through. But I
wouldn't bet the Raiders backup running backs to go over.

They're gonna give genty all the carries he can ever handle,
you know what I mean, when he's out of the game,
they're probably gonna let throw the ball, you know, like
it's gonna be one of the things where the Eagles
just interchange their guys so much that it's not true
running back by committee because Barkley gets the bulk of
the carries the running back by committee teams. I should
rephrase that worry me because you don't know who's gonna
get the carriags. You know exactly what's happening in Philly.

Barker's getting this amount of carries. Ship again, this amount
of carries. So I like looking at the backup running
back market for for some of these teams.

There's something else like building up your point if you
work in another game. Giants at the Commanders today, and
I was looking at the running back market right for
the Commanders in particular. So there's one that to keep
in mind. So last year the Giants in the two
matchups against the Commanders, they gave up a combined three

thought was most interesting is that Bengals Browns game. The

of movement. That one opened at two and a half,

and throughout today we've we've gone all the way up
to four, even at four and a half in some spots,
So that one has had a ton of movement. And
another one that we've seen is that Ravens Bills game,
which you know we expect will be the most bet
on game of the day as we get much closer
to that, But that one has flipped from an opener
of uh for the for the Bills into the now

of Ravens a favor.

Are you surprised at that? I feel like Buffalo wins
almost all their home games. They're good at home, They're
geared up to win a championship this season. I did

not as good as it's been. We know what they are.
There's no question marks about the Lions. The question marks
are two new coordinators and injuries, like you know, like
is golfing to continue playing this way? Look at the

So I think there's just a lot more questions with

the other three teams. We know we're gonna with the lines,
and again, I think people just don't think the ceilings
