Speaker 1 (00:25):
Look, god, this is Fox Sports Radios Countdown the Kickoff,
presented by Bett emg App.

Speaker 4 (00:32):
No, we're live from your tail game.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Here's Brian No, former Penn State All American, Rich Hornberger
and FSR betting analyst Jared Smith.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
Oh what's going on? Welcome in, Happy Saturday to you.
We get you all set. We've got some big games
here today, well NFL tomorrow. I know you're fired up
for the w NBA playoffs to start on an NFL
Sunday's brilliant, brilliant NFL Sunday. Let's not start on Tuesday.
Let let's start on Sunday when we just get live

(01:06):
by the NFL. That's right, Yeah, wow, no way, yeah, that's.

Speaker 5 (01:10):
That's that's like the US Open Final on the first
week of the NFL season.

Speaker 6 (01:14):
So oh yeah, yeah, I'm another one. Can I have
a conversation with the US Open marketing people.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Please.

Speaker 7 (01:19):
There's so many sports that do this that that unfortunately
overlap with really important parts of the NFL season, And
you think to yourself, like, maybe just clear the slate.
Try to stuff all the other sports on the other
four months of the year and just leave the eight
months clear for the NFL.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
Just play it on a Monday, yeah, or Tuesday, Tuesdays
Wednesday Wednesday works Tuesdaytings. Yes, that's what you want to
focus in on, you know. But they're like, no, let's
kick this thing off on Sunday. Let's go look Sunday.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Yeah, not not wise, but uh, good morning to you guys.
You guys are all, you know, bright eyed, bushy tailed
for the Irish little nightcap tonight against the Aggies, right yeah.

Speaker 7 (02:00):
Oh, big, big, big game. Yeah no, actually really looking
forward to that. Looking forward. Also a little bit of
a special thing happening here halftime Penn State Villanova. They're
going to be honoring the two thousand and five Penn
State Big Ten Chimps, and I'm gonna be on the
field with all my teammates. I'm actually broadcasting with you

(02:21):
guys live from State College Pencilvan, going back and visiting
your old high school. You know, all the hallways feel smaller.
You're like, oh my god, there's my locker, you know.
But yeah, it's it's really cool. They had a reception
for the players yesterday. I flew in late, so I
missed that. But I'm gonna get to see everybody at
the game today, So really really fun stuff over here.

Speaker 5 (02:44):
That season brings back fond memories of me being drunk
in the stands streaming for pancake people.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
By the way, like Jared's coming to us live in
like four K or something over there. Look at this
sound crazy.

Speaker 7 (03:00):
He's felt and he's also I mean he is looking clear.
I mean he Wow, this guy has completely renovated his look.

Speaker 6 (03:08):
I do, and I do like the date tonight too.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
Speaking of oh wow, I'm actually gonna miss the A
and M Notre Dame game. I'm sorry, Brian, you have
to fill me in on the deats later.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
Tonight.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
She'd better be worth it, that's all.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
I think she is.

Speaker 4 (03:23):
Are you gonna miss You're gonna miss the fight tonight tonight,
fight night?

Speaker 5 (03:27):
Yeah, I'm gonna miss the fight tonight unfortunately too. But listen,
you know, I've gotta I've gotta take advantage of this
new spelt body that I'm in and I having to
go out.

Speaker 6 (03:35):
The lady's very happy, you know.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
I do like by the way. I like the the
decorations in the background. You know, got the nice set up,
and I do like how the banner is positioned very like. Well,
I forgot lower left hand corner. We gotta have the skyliner,
we gotta have the diploma, we gotta have the important
stuff on show.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Usually the banner is up, but I was running a
little late. The dog took a little extra time with
his morning walk today and I did I forgot to
put the banner up. I was like, oh, oh crap.
So during the commercial break, don't worry MGM, Fox Sports
Radio Brass, the banner will be going up during That's
very good, very.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Nice, very nice. All right, So before we we're gonna
dive headfirst into the games today. There's so much to
die to look at, a lot of really good matchups,
and we will. We'll give the big matchups their due,
but I want to look back just briefly, because we
had a couple of college games last night. Ucla is
freaking brutal. Colorado took it on the Chin. But I

(04:35):
want to go back even further than that to Thursday
in the NFL, because the Packers look out standing. But
my gosh, the love that Green Bay is getting right now,
I might be the only person on the face of
the earth who feels this way. Feel free to push
back on this, but it's just Packers, Packers, Packers, Packers.
They are the team to be Packers Packers, And I'm like,

(04:55):
they've looked great in two home games, one of them
on a sho they haven't even played a road game yet.
Can we settle down just a bit on all of
this Packers love. I know, Michaeh. Parsons looks great. They've
looked fantastic against two quality opponents. But I'm just saying,
let's keep it in perspective a little bit.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Can we do that? I think it's fair.

Speaker 7 (05:18):
Look, I mean the thing you have to think about
with the Packers is that win over Detroit was impressive
and important because, look, you always want to win in
division and it's gonna be a difficult division. So you know,
you get Detroit at home, that's a game that sort
of feels like they're gonna need to win it, especially
if Detroit gets themselves back on track this weekend. That's

(05:42):
a team that a lot of people are picking to
represent the NFC in the super Bowl in the preseason,
you know, futures odds, they're either the highest or the
second highest bet NFC team in terms of their Super
Bowl prospects. Then you look at the Packers, I mean
the Bears, they're up and coming. The Vikings, they don't
look bad. So I understand what you're saying. I understand

(06:06):
it's like Pumper breaks, Pumpy breaks. But this was already
a talented team. If Jordan Love stays healthy last year,
they looked markedly better than they they they would have.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
But if he.

Speaker 7 (06:18):
Stays healthy, with the addition of Micah Parsons and some
of the pieces they have around that offense, I mean,
this is a well conceived roster, and so the excitement
is real.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
The Packers are real.

Speaker 7 (06:30):
But I do agree with you pump your breaks a
little bit because it's early in the season, and they
did win two games five days apart from each other,
both at home.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
Just to confirm, someone on this show did give out
Packers to win the North right before the season started
and as part of his division Parlay.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Yeah, it is.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Correct, and before the Micah Parsons trade.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
That was nice. That being said, I agree with you, Brian.
I think there is a certain life of overreaction. We
talk about this all the time from week one to
week two. It's the biggest overreaction in the market that
we typically see.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
That was a really tough.

Speaker 5 (07:09):
Spot for Washington. Sharp betters had that spot circled for weeks.
In fact, I have a bet from July Green Bay
minus one and a half against Washington because if you
think about the spot and Rich I know you can
attest to this. The first Thursday night game, the first
team to have to go on the road after that
first Sunday game and then go play that first Thursday game,

(07:33):
that is a brutal spot.

Speaker 6 (07:34):
Brutal spot.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
So the Packers already kind of had a situational advantage
in that game.

Speaker 6 (07:41):
And then you mentioned the divisional win.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
They had one divisional win all of last year, so
I'm sure the Packers were circling that Week one game.
And not every team plays a divisional game week one,
some of them do, But you play one of those
divisional games week one for a team that only won
one game last year, in the division against the Bars.
They're circling that Lions game as like a mini super

(08:03):
Bowl kind of because Detroit had won fifth.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
They don't only lost two games the.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
Whole year last year. So those two spots early were
very situationally friendly for Green Bay. And you're right now
we're gonna kind of get the meat of this season.
And I still think, listen, that defense with Mike and
now is very cool. And the one thing I'm noticing
too is rising tide lifts all boats. The rest of

(08:30):
the defense now is playing with a increased level of confidence.
So this Packers team is legit, no doubt. They are
the team in the NFC. But they go on the
road next week to play Cleveland. Then they play Dallas
on the road on a Sunday night, so we'll get
some of that road love to see if he can
continue to play well outside of the friendly confines of Lambeau.

Speaker 6 (08:51):
Then they get the early buy, which I don't love.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
Frankly, Yeah, for a team that has Super Bowl aspirations,
So I agree, like, we're not having a super Bowl
parade down Lambeau Street now wherever the field is, I
don't know what. I don't know what Street it is,
but they are the team to beat right now.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
In the NFC.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Yeah, hey, listen, they look good, so I'm not against
giving them flowers. But they've been getting bouk after bou k,
you know what I mean, Like they got it'd be
like you right tonight, Jared will use you as an example,
right if you is this one of the first dates
with this.

Speaker 5 (09:26):
Second day, second coffee yesterday, and she liked me so
much you wanted to get dinner tonight.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Okay? Nice?

Speaker 4 (09:30):
And you're like, yeah, I'm free. Just a huge fight
of the century, you know, and the Irish.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
But I don't.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
I don't go on dates too often, so it's kind
of like, hey, you know, I want to got to
take advantage.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Of the here.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
You're like, yeah, Saturday night, Sure got me. But if
you showed up to the second date with like three
dozen roses, she would run. She'd be like whoa a
little too. That's how I feel about the pack.

Speaker 6 (10:00):
No flowers for her tonight, Just it's it's.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
After two games. You know, this is a second date
for you. It's a little too early for all of
this love.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
No, you're right, yeah, Brian, you're right.

Speaker 7 (10:11):
Look you're gonna buy the packers dinner and then maybe
even a hug on the porch. Too much further than that,
because like, let's be honest with each other, like it's
only we two and we've only just begun, and you know.

Speaker 6 (10:27):
We really got off the ledge with this metaphor.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
I love it. I love this analogy so much.

Speaker 7 (10:32):
And I mean, eventually we're gonna get married, but yeah,
it's at least February when we clinched the division is
when she'll get her first jewelry gift.

Speaker 6 (10:41):
Yeah, I'll have a little extra coin in the pocket.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
By the way, if we shifted to college real quick here, man,
you've got a huge game today, you know, Tennessee hosting Georgia,
and we'll get into all the tidbits, you know, the
top and next hour. But for a second, it connects
to last night. There's an obvious connection, right quarterback Nico
IAmA Layava, So he was at Tennessee. He kind of

(11:08):
did a power play trying for more money, right, more
a little more nil love if you will, and Tennessee
was like, yeah, we're good, we're good on that, no
more extra money, and then he ends up transferring to UCLA,
who is a hot mess right now, they're zero to three.
They just got waxed by New Mexico at home last night.

(11:30):
Wo like, I just picture Nico, just like, hey man,
let's guys, let's go hit up in an out burger
at twelve thirty and let's stay there until at least
four thirty or five. Just no reason in particular. Maybe
it's because my former team is showcased on TV, huge
home game and he's over there leading the Bruins to
a winless record so far. I don't know how many

(11:53):
games they would do they win a game this Look
at the rest of their schedule.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
I mean, they're getting to the teeth of it now.

Speaker 7 (12:01):
The answer is maybe not, because the Big Ten is unrelenting.
I mean a lot of I mean, they play Penn State,
they play Ohio State, Washington's on their schedule. Nebraskan's gonna
be no pushover. Indiana was a playoff team last year.

Speaker 5 (12:20):
Maryland, maybe Northwest Northwestern next week.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
They better, Yeah, they better. Here's the here's the thing.

Speaker 7 (12:28):
Look, Tom Brady didn't go to the Titans, he didn't
go to the Colts, he didn't go to the Cardinals.
I'm trying to think of bad teams. When we rewind
the clock to twenty twenty, when he joined the Buccaneers
and he won a Super Bowl. He went to a
team that was ready set bake the cake. All we're
missing is the icing. All we're missing is the quarterback.

(12:49):
He wasn't there to stir the flower with, you know,
the baking powder, and he wasn't gonna have the nutmeg.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Like the cake was baked.

Speaker 7 (12:57):
Let me come in there, let me put a layer
of sing on this thing. Let go win a Super Bowl.
So he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who had a
phenomenal defense when he joined up, and they had weapons everywhere.
He looked around that offense, and then they added a couple.
They bring in Gronk, They feathered the bed for him,
give him a little security blanket in the red zone
and the and the end zone, and then they win.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
A Super Bowl.

Speaker 7 (13:20):
Nico went to, like you perfectly put it, a literal,
blazing hot mess in UCLA. Who's making the jump from
the what is the Pac twelve whatever they're gonna call
it when it reassembles to the Big ten.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
I mean, it's it's just not gonna work.

Speaker 7 (13:40):
And he chased the money instead of the I guess
the proper ingredients to bake the right cake.

Speaker 5 (13:48):
Do you remember last year when Deshaun Foster gave that
really awkward press conference before at Big ten Media Day
UCLA head coach. That was, to me, like the funniest,
one of the funniest things I've seen for a head coach.
It just kind of feels like it's a continuation of that,
like it's just this awkward marriage between Nico and UCLA.

Speaker 6 (14:08):
I was there last Saturday at.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
Allegiance watching them play UNLV and nice win for UNLV.
I think their quarterback Calandria is kind of the anti
Nico right, kind of an undersized, gritty quarterback who has
a little bit of intestinal fortitude to him with the
style that he plays.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
Like the word that comes to.

Speaker 5 (14:30):
Mind with Nico is he's got all talent, but no, no,
you know, it's all surface level, like there's not a
lot underneath there. When I watch him play, it's just
there's just no heart, like there's no grit. It's very
much I'm here for the money. That's the vibe I get.
That was clearly what was happening at Tennessee, and it

(14:53):
didn't make sense, like The Tennessee thing made no sense
because he was in a state with no income tax
and he was making I think two to two and
a half mil, right, and then he asked for four
and they said no, and then he left. And then
he moves to California with like the highest state income
tax in the country and he's making less. So, like,

(15:16):
even from a just from a forget football, forget the
fact that Tennessee is better than UCLA, forget that for
a minute, just from like a business.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
Sense, the move made no It was it was an
asenine move.

Speaker 5 (15:28):
It was like, you're doing back results. Yeah, so now
you throw in the football element where they're losing to
Utah and UNLV and New Mexico at home as a
fifteen point dog and not just losing. I posted this
last night after the game. It's one thing to lose
to New Mexico as a fifteen point favorite at home.

(15:49):
It's another thing to get deepanted, like completely obliterated, lose
by three scores.

Speaker 6 (15:57):
At this point.

Speaker 5 (15:58):
The Foster experiment, right, former former player turned coach kind
of awkward interview last year with his opener, and now
he's kind of inheriting this weird situation. That clearly he
can't fix. I mean one and eleven, zero to twelve
is staring them right in the face.

Speaker 6 (16:16):
And you want to talk.

Speaker 5 (16:17):
About a fall from grace, Yeah, I mean, this is
one of the most intriguing falls that I've seen. Like
the Rye, I tweeted, the rise and Fall of Nico
will be studied for generation.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
And it's a It's a really good example for a
lot of college players where I get it. Nothing wrong
with wanting the money and if you think you're in
a position to have leverage, you want to utilize it
and get more cash. Hey, there are a lot of
players that have gotten more money by doing what Nico did.
It didn't work for Nico, and it's a great reminder

(16:50):
to you know, not overplay your hand. Because he tried
to get more cash, it didn't work out. And now
he's waking up with UCLA and not even close. You
can't tell is he watching today? Like I think he
would just make him miserable to watch Tennessee today knowing
he could be right there. He could be a Kneeland

(17:10):
with this crazy atmosphere packed to the gills, great opponent
in Georgia. He's on center stage and now he went
from the headlining act to like the third warm up band,
you know, like he's warming up for the warm up
bands now at UCLA. That's that's brutal, that's a that's
a fall from grace right there. But good reminder not

(17:31):
to overplay your hand. Hey, we're often running here. We've
got rich Oornberger, Penn State All American, Jared Smith FSR

(18:46):
all socials at BETMGM. All right, we've got eighteen eighteenth
ranked South Florida. How about that ranked against number five
Miami games on the CW today, Love it beautiful and
the darling so far early on this college football season,
that would have to be South Florida had a couple
of nice wins against Boise State and Florida respectively. You

(19:10):
have to put that in there. I don't know why
you just do. It's mandated, but two nice wins against
ranked teams and now they're ranked number eighteen. This is
a scary matchup, man, and they are dogs by seventeen
and the hook. They are heavy underdogs on the road
against Miami and the scary thing I think for South Florida. Listen,

(19:30):
Byron Brown has done a really good job their quarterback
of using his legs. He really did that against Boise
State in that opener, did a great job, you know,
Tampa Stadium, the whole thing right, running around on them
a couple of big runs. And that's what I worry
about today. If he's not able to run. If their
running game collectively is held in check, which is very

(19:53):
possible against Miami, what.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Do you have?

Speaker 4 (19:55):
How you moving the ball? I don't want to make
it sound like it's army and they don't throw. They
do throw the ball, but a big, big part of
their attack is the running game. And if it's held
in check, man, I don't be shocked it off Miami
covers this spread, I might even give it out.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (20:12):
I love the Bulls, and it would be a tough
spot to fade them, especially after two ranked wins to
start their season. But Miami's got to be right and
high off of their big win and they look good.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
On both sides of the ball. And here's the problem
for USF.

Speaker 7 (20:29):
Do they have the staying power against real P four
competition to make it through a whole game like to
make it wire to wire against big time Miami with
all the athletes and the tools to wear you down.
When you go in at the tunnel to take your
intermission and eat your orange slices and get your pats

(20:51):
on the back for a good first half, can you
come out and finish the game. That's gonna be the
test for South Florida today.

Speaker 6 (20:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (20:58):
I don't know if they're going to be able to
pass that test. I so we've discussed Miami on the show. Obviously,
we talked about him big Week one game against Brian's Irish.
Really dominated the trenches in that game. Offensive line is fantastic.
I think that's I have two keys in this game. First,
Miami offensive line should be able to win the line
of scrimmage. I think USF is going to have to

(21:20):
load up the box to stop the run, and that
means Carson Beck is going to be chilling in the
pocket with a lot of one on ones on the
outside with some really good receivers. Florida's offensive line I know,
you know, they go into the swamp and they win
that game, and they deserve all the credit in the world.
Tough plays to play Florida ran it really well against
USF last week. It was lagway and it was napier.
Really that kind of screwed the pooch. I think Miami's

(21:42):
gonna run it really well in this game. The second
key is shutting down Bayron Brown and that you know,
rushing dual THREATNSS.

Speaker 6 (21:50):
That he has.

Speaker 5 (21:51):
I just made that word up, dual threatness. That's not
a word, but we're gonna go with it.

Speaker 6 (21:54):
Anyways.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
He had seventeen carries last week. That's a lot for
a quarterback. And I think the wear and tear is
an issue. I would assume Miami spies him. Miami's DC,
Corey Heatherman, he is a freaking nut job on the side.
Go why that If you want to be entertained tonight watch.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
He's very, very animated.

Speaker 6 (22:15):
It's like he is like a psychopath on the sidelines.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
But I actually think it's very fitting because it kind
of fits who Miami is as a defense, very aggressive
up front. The athletes upfront for Miami are legit. I
think again trenches, offensive line, defensive line. There aren't many
teams in the country that are more physical and aggressive
than Miami. Rubin Bain, a key Mesidor off the edge
five pressers each in the first two games. Armando Blunt

(22:42):
six four to two sixty out of Miami Central. If
you're unfamiliar with that South Florida football, Miami Central one
of the most prestigious programs down there, missed the Bethune
game with an injury. He's back this week and in
Marquis Lightfoot. Don't let that name fool you. Lightfoot six five,
two thirty, not light at all. He's also been out
standing off the edge. I think Torre the linebacker, the

(23:03):
middle linebacker, the fifty year senior transfer from Rutgers. He's
probably gonna be the spy for Brown. But I love
this Miami front and the X factor though in this game, Brian,
there is an X factor for USF. I trust Alex
golish More over Mario Crystaball. That's the X founder. Yeah,
in a tight game late, I trust golish More, But

(23:23):
I don't know if this game is going to be
tight in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
That's the thing is that you can see a path
to you know, a pretty good game, hard fought. You know,
South Florida's within a touchdown. All of a sudden, it
just snowballs and it's like, man, we're down by three
touchdowns right now. I wouldn't be surprised at all. And I'm,
you know, up close and personally familiar with Miami's rush defense.
Who held Notre Dame in check all night? Like Jeremiah

(23:49):
Love did nothing, Jadari and Price did a little bit.
I had a nice long run and it was a
good change of pace guy, But they held Jeremiah Love
completely in check. And if they're able to hold the
South floor to running game and check, oh maybe it
could be. It could be a long day. It could
be a long day for the Bulls. Doubles over there, dopples.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
Yeah, I think that.

Speaker 7 (24:12):
I think the real test is going to be can
you establish the run early? Can you take the air
out of the game, can you slow things down from Miami?
And then can you replicate that success in the second
half because it's the.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Game they want to play.

Speaker 7 (24:26):
They want to play aggressively on defense, get the ball
back into the hands of their offense, and then obviously
feature the run. But man, it is so easy to
say all those words and they make plenty of sense,
but then you get into the action and I can't
tell you how many times where your your run game
is effective, but your offensive coordinator is getting impatient, or

(24:51):
your quarterback is talking about how, you know, on that
we ran that one play action and we had the
post wide open.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
We need to get back to that.

Speaker 7 (24:58):
We need to get back to that, and all of
a sudd and it's a big game and people on
the sideline and I'm not pointing fingers because the game
hasn't even been played yet, but people start getting greedy,
and so you get you get a lot of voices
in the headset like, hey, we need to get back
to that bunch set out of you know, out of
our two type formation, because we're gonna we're gonna hit

(25:20):
you know, so and so on the sale route out
of the backfield.

Speaker 2 (25:24):
Because they're not even they don't see it. They don't
see it.

Speaker 7 (25:27):
They're I'm telling you what ends up happening is you
get away from what you're doing that's effective and you
get into one of those games where you're chasing, and
you're not even chasing the team you're playing. You're just
chasing the mystique of piling up a bunch of points,
playing with a cushion, and that feels good, but as
soon as you start playing out of your own characteristics,

(25:49):
as soon as you start playing the game you wish
you could play instead of the game you're supposed to play. Man,
that's when it gets hard. And I've been on sidelines
where this happens all the time. Professional coaches do it
and players college football players and coaches do it all
the time. You start playing outside of yourself, the bigger
the game gets. My advice to USF, if I were

(26:10):
in the locker room before the game, just be you.
You're good enough to win this game. You gotta trust
that you're good enough to win this game, because that's
all you have. You have the twenty two guys on
the offense and the defense, your special teamers, and you
gotta go out there and dance with the girl you brought.

Speaker 2 (26:26):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 7 (26:27):
You are who you are, so play to that ability.
So many teams freak out in big matchups.

Speaker 6 (26:34):
Yeah you know what.

Speaker 5 (26:35):
Another kind of X factor to this game is that
you know probably won't get talked about much USF.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
The radar is up now.

Speaker 5 (26:43):
Like it's one thing to be boise as a ranked team,
it's another thing to go into the swamp and be Florida, Like,
you're not sneaking up on Miami this week, Like no
that you put the country on notice. And I would
argue that their resume right now is even better than
Indiana's last year. So this is a legit Cinderella story now,

(27:05):
and you are not going to sneak up on an
in state rival after beating Florida in the swamp.

Speaker 6 (27:12):
You might have snuck up on him if this game was.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
Week two, right, But it just feels like USF kind
of used up their magic and I feel like when
it like went usually right. We talked about this in
March Madness all the time, when Cinderella goes on the run,
and then when they eventually.

Speaker 6 (27:30):
Lose, it's usually a thud.

Speaker 5 (27:32):
It's not a tight game, losing at the buzzer heartbreak.

Speaker 6 (27:35):
It's usually they get.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
Absolutely pummeled because physically they're just not as good as
these other opponents. But I love Alex Golish, Honestly, I
think he is a heck.

Speaker 6 (27:46):
Of a coach. What he's done at USF is incredible.
They remind me a little bit of Notre Dame last year, Brian.

Speaker 5 (27:52):
They are very good at situational and momentum football. They're
fantastic in the middle eight Goalish is a great coach
they're timing with when they call the true plays, Like
they're not physically more gifted than any of these teams
that they're beating. They are just really buttoned up in
those situational areas. But when you run into a juggernaut,
and make no mistake, Min's juggernaut. This year, we'll see

(28:12):
if they can handle another physical test after beating Florida Live.

Speaker 4 (28:16):
I like that point, just to put a bow on
this where this isn't a hard sell for Mario Cristoball,
you know, like I have shades of Lou Holtz when
it was with Notre Dame trying to prop up like
Rice like they're the eighty five Bears or something. It's
like the team is just like Lou, It's Rice, Like,
come on, what are we doing here? This is not
a hard sell for Mario Cristaball to be like guys

(28:37):
throughout the whole week. This is a quality opponent, yep, right, Like,
look at what they've done so far this season. So
you got to approach this game the right way. If
you're the U and I think they will, let's shift
it to an SEC matchup. How about Arkansas against Ole Miss.
Love this game. It's a night game. It's over there,
you know, we get a little night action. We're talking

(29:00):
seven pm Eastern time kickoff. And Arkansas is always interesting
to me. I like their quarterback, Taylor Green. You saw
a lot of them at Boise State rich you know,
you know, with your ties to SDSU.

Speaker 6 (29:14):
But Arkansas is one.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
Of those teams where they've got their flaws, but man,
they have their strengths also, and I like what their
offense has done so far this season. I wouldn't be
shocked if they win this game on the road. The
weird thing with Arkansas is it's like a wide range,
you know, wide range, especially in a matchup like this,
because Ole Miss, Man, they've got defensive flaws, they have

(29:37):
holes there and Arkansas can absolutely take advantage of them.
So they have real firepower. They have real capability to
win this game on the road, and they have real
capability to not come close to winning this game on
the road. That's just Arkansas football and nutshell here.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Listen. Taylor Green, and like you mentioned, the.

Speaker 7 (29:58):
Former Bronco quarterback with Boise State, talented dual threat guy.
He is going to be the name you're gonna want
to watch for if you're turning on that game and
you're like, hey, I don't even know where to get
started with these two teams. Watch the quarterback for Arkansas.
Ole Miss also is one hundredth in creating pass rush
in the nation right now, one hundredth So they're getting

(30:21):
handled up front, which is a problem when you're going
against a guy who not only can beat you with
his arm, especially exploiting you know, fifteen yards within the
line of scrimmage, but also if it isn't there, he's
gonna take off and he's gonna.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
Make you pay.

Speaker 7 (30:37):
Plus you're going to have some planned QB run built
into the script.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
Ole Miss.

Speaker 7 (30:42):
They didn't cover a week ago when they went to Kentucky,
so you start thinking about the bounce back and Jared,
you'll you'll know more about that than I would. But
still Arkansas potent and they're good where Ole Miss is.

Speaker 6 (31:00):
If it makes sense, Yeah, yeah, ole Miss.

Speaker 5 (31:02):
Remember the interview last week after the Kentucky game when
Lane Kiffin apologized for not covering we love him?

Speaker 2 (31:09):
Oh yeah, I love you. And that's the reason why
I remembered.

Speaker 6 (31:12):
Yeah, like that. Honestly, I lane Kiffin's great for college football.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
He just is.

Speaker 6 (31:19):
This is a weird spot.

Speaker 5 (31:20):
It is because you got a little injury concerned here
with Simmons, and that was the the the buzz this
week was that he might miss the game. But he's
not on the injury report. He's definitely not one hundred percent.
I think it's an ankle. But that's something to keep
an eye on here. Green's a he's a firecracker. Like
he he will he will light you up, but he'll
also explode in your face like he's kind of In

(31:41):
one of the podcasts I listened to that covers the
SEC they call him mister hospital Ball because he just
sometimes he throws these balls up and it's just like
whoa look out.

Speaker 6 (31:49):
But he's also very very talented.

Speaker 5 (31:51):
Richie nailed it, like Ole Missus defense not great at
the pass rush, not great at tackling. Like I did,
think this is going to be a high scoring game.
In fact, if you recall last year, Ole miss was
wacky in this game. Jackson darthu for five hundred six
touchdowns sixty three thirty one. They beat him in Fayetteville,
So you get the revenge narrative, Like, I'm sure Arkansas
didn't like getting a sixty burger dropped on him at

(32:13):
home last year. But it feels like with the ole
Miss injuries to the quarterback and with the volatility surrounding
Taylor Green's play, this is kind of a stay away
for me. I think over would be a fun way
to bet it. Yeah, we've seen that total get bet
up a little bit like this. You just feel like
this one's gonna be kind of a firecracker kind of game.

(32:34):
But I'm a little bit concerned with the betting either
side here just because of how volatable teams are.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
I know.

Speaker 4 (32:40):
It's funny, man, Welcome to college football where before the
game you're like, wow, it's up to sixty two and
a half. Yeah, and you mentioned like one team covered
it by their self.

Speaker 6 (32:50):
Yeah, sixty three less.

Speaker 4 (32:53):
That's always I'm gonna take the under. I think that's
a lot of points. Until the fireworks start and you're like,
holy cow, I had a flashback. It was funny, man.
I just had a flashback to I did radio and
Fresno for a while and Fresno State was hosting Hawaii
on one game and this is when June Jones was
there and Jerry Glanville was there and all this stuff,

(33:15):
and someone in the parking lot was like, hey, man,
you know, what do you think about the total? It's
like whatever. It was sixty seven and a half. And
I was like, oh over all day. And he was like,
really I took the under. I'm like, oh, no, it's good.
It's flying over right. There are some games like that,
and it did.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
It did. I was right that game.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
I get them right every now and then. You know,
now all the time, I have moments here and there.

Check this out par late letter.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
Okay, there's the platter. Each have one selection for you.
We pull it together for a greater payout. I have
heard rumors of nasty rumors of like the largest individual
on this show thinking about going up against a h

(35:00):
no power, Like, what are we doing here today? We'll
start it off with you, Jared.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
What do you like?

Speaker 5 (35:04):
Yeah, it's it's a low bar to be the biggest
guy in this show these days, considering Brian and I
are very so.

Speaker 6 (35:11):
So I'll give you a cow money line.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
So cows of two and a half point home dog
today against Minnesota. You got the Golden Gophers going out
west to play the Golden Bears. Cow's a fun story.
They lost the toun of the transfer portal but they've
got an exciting new quarterback and I'm gonna try to
say his name, and if I fail, I apologize.

Speaker 6 (35:30):
Jeron Kave Songa Polutelli.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
Wow, I don't know.

Speaker 6 (35:35):
Maybe I got it right.

Speaker 5 (35:36):
We're gonna call him JKS from now on though, highest
graded freshman passer in the country so far. Very impressive.
Nice win in Oregon State week one. They took care
of business last week against Texas. Southern Minnesota's kind of man.
They're without their star running back Darius Taylor today out
with any injury.

Speaker 6 (35:52):
This is gonna be their first real test.

Speaker 5 (35:54):
They one did not cover against Buffalo in week one,
and then they beat Northwestern State last week. Not Western
Northwestern State Cal very live home dog. I don't think
the market's fully caught up to the Golden Bears yet.

Speaker 6 (36:06):
Guys.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
They're kind of a dark horse CFP candidate too. The
ACAC is stinks and they've got a really easy schedule.
They get Duke unc SMU at home. They don't play
Clemson or Miami. Cal is very dangerous. I think they
beat Minnesota tonight outright moneyline plus one twenty first leg
at Farland.

Speaker 7 (36:21):
Okay, Okay, I say this with all due respect, but
give me the six and a half on the road
against the fighting Irish for Texas A and M. Here's
why the Irish. They were upset in Miami in the
season opener. They're off the bye week. Marcus Freeman is
awesome with additional time against the spread eleven and two.

(36:42):
Nice little stat there, But this feels like a good
bounce back spot for an M after not covering the
spread last week. It was a lofty spread, but this
is this is a little bit easier of a point
spread for them to come in contact with. So give
me Texas A and M plus six and a half
in the bounce back spot.

Speaker 4 (37:03):
I hate what you've done here, Rich, but might be right.
Hey man, if the Irish win yet don't cover and
it cashes the parlay platters, who am I? I struck
my shoulders on that one. You know, Irish win, great,
we could both win, so it's possible.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
There you go.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
I'm gonna go with give me Georgia, Tennessee. I like
the over in the first half over twenty four and
a half for a couple of reasons. Kirby Smartest talked
about this where it's like and I'm paraphrase. So you
didn't say it exactly like this, but he's basically saying,
you know, Tennessee's offense just different. They're like, it's nothing
that we've seen before. It's not like, well, we go

(37:42):
up against this commonly on our schedule. They just they
go fast, they throw a bunch of stuff at you.
They're just moving, moving, moving, and it takes them a
little bit to get their sea legs. You know, the
dogs have to settle into the game a little bit. Now.
George's offense has been nothing to write home about, but
I think this change is big stage. They've had Tennessee's numbers,

(38:04):
they've they've won eight straight and they've blown Tennessee out
consistently on the road. And so for an offense that's
been lacking thus far, I think they look better today
in a big test against Tennessee. So with Tennessee's up tempo,
go go, go, go go, and they've been really efficient
so far offensively, I just think that we're in store

(38:26):
for some first half firewards. I like, over twenty four
and a half in.

Speaker 6 (38:29):
Now, one can't argue it. I mean, especially Georgia, I
think Tennessee's going.

Speaker 5 (38:33):
To really stack the box against the run because Georgia's
run game is.

Speaker 6 (38:38):
Looks really good and their online looks fantastic.

Speaker 5 (38:40):
What that will do is it will create a lot
of one on one matchups on the outside. And these
receivers for Georgia are legit this year branch the transfer
and Kobe Young's fantastic. So I could see some explosives
early in the game for Georgia if they kind of
want to back this Tennessee defense up off the line
of scrim at. Tennessee's defense is aggressive, they play downhill,

(39:01):
so I could.

Speaker 6 (39:02):
Absolutely see there being some explosives.

Speaker 5 (39:04):
All right, we got cow money line, We got a
and M plus six and a half. We got Georgia
Tennessee over twenty four and a half in the first half.
We slap a twenty five percent odds boost on this sucker,
thank you very much at MGM.

Speaker 6 (39:18):
Nine to one.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
That's a pretty spicy money line. That's a pretty spicy parlay.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
Guys.

Speaker 6 (39:22):
I like this one three legger nine to.

Speaker 4 (39:24):
One, nine to one. Okay, what is it without the boost?

Speaker 5 (39:27):
By the way, without the boost, it's plus seven to twenty,
which is still not fast.

Speaker 4 (39:31):
Boost.

Speaker 6 (39:32):
Yeah to the boost is.

Speaker 5 (39:33):
Listen they give me one of these every week. I
always recommend when you get a profit boost an odds boost.

Speaker 6 (39:39):
Take a swing.

Speaker 5 (39:40):
Don't make a minus one ten, a plus one ten,
that's boring. Like take a swing, make a five to one,
six to one, a ten to one like that to me,
is how you really use these odds boosts to your advantage?

Speaker 4 (39:52):
Like my yes, very good advice.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
It really is.

Speaker 4 (39:57):
Crack says that all the time on the Sunday show, you.

Speaker 2 (39:59):
Know swing man.

Speaker 6 (40:01):
Yeah, same thing with the free bets too. Take a swing.

Speaker 5 (40:03):
If you get a free bet, put it on one
hundred to one, fifty to one, Like, take a swing.

Speaker 6 (40:07):
It's a free bet. A free swing.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
Does it say anywhere in there, like have a leg
against the Irish? Is that part of the No, that's.

Speaker 6 (40:14):
Not part of the terms and conditions. We kind of
came up with that one on the fly here.

Speaker 4 (40:21):
Yeah, I just want to make sure to make sure
on though. All right, come it up next, So one
of the biggest games of the day and a funny
joke eases us into the breakdown. Oh, good morning, welcome
in here, Happy Saturday to your full slate of college
football action. Can't wait for it? We are what under

(40:42):
two minutes, two minutes, two hours away from kickoff in
the early window. Here we will get to one of
the biggest matchups of the day and the funny joke
to start the whole thing that's in a couple of seconds.

Speaker 6 (40:53):
Hey.

Speaker 4 (40:53):
Throughout the entire football season, bet MGM will offer all
different types of no sweat tokens and odds boost tokens
beyond the lookout for no sweat, same game parlay tokens,
parlay boost tokens, and so much more. All Right, we've
got number six Georgia against number fifteen Tennessee, the SEC
matchup of the day, one of the biggest college games
of the entire slate. We mentioned this at the beginning

(41:16):
of the show where former Tennessee quarterback Nico IAmA layava
he would be getting ready for this game, but he's
now at UCLA and it was such a disaster for
UCLA last night losing to New Mexico. There was a
tweet from Reddit College Football and it just said UCLA
reportedly exploring a move to the FCS Big Sky and

(41:41):
then it says source I made it up. Then the
Big Sky Conference quote tweeted this and just wrote no,
thank you. It's like we're good. We don't want Ucla.
We're good on That's pretty freaking funny, but that's where
it is right now for UCLA. In IAmA Layava, so
now Joey aguilars in. Joey Aguilar's father, he made some

(42:03):
noise this week where he's like, I think it's pretty
obvious who won this trade. Like Joey was the UCLA
quarterback now the Tennessee quarterback, and Iamlayava went from ut
to to u C l A. Uh, Aguilar traded up,
Iva traded down. But we see Joey Aguilar on a
stage that Nico was once on and a huge matchup,

(42:28):
arguably the biggest day game of the day. And uh,
you know, props to Joey. He he's in a much
better spot right now against the Dogs, but that can
change real quick. Dogs play real defense and Tennessee's offense,
they absolutely have their work cut out for them today.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (42:43):
Yeah, I think this comes down to Georgia upfront and
really with the front seven and maybe with some of
their secondary and the pressure that they're going to bring
to Joey Algalar, who does struggle when he's under duress.
You know, early season statistically, when he's pressured, he does
freak out a little bit. So you know that that's
gonna be the plan for the Bulldogs, who pulled off

(43:06):
the winning Athens last year in a big win, and
they've won eight straight over the Balls, So this continues
to be an SEC beat down that that largely favors Uga.
I like George too. I like him because you know, defense,
early season defense travels. Defense is the marquis, It's the

(43:28):
ten pole for a lot of teams, and typically the
best teams are playing, you know, some of their better
defense out the gates of the season, and that's what
we've seen from Georgia so far.

Speaker 5 (43:39):
Yeah, the defense is back guys, and it's not household
names yet. There's no Jalen Carters yet that we know of,
right like lock first round pick type players. But when
I watch this defense, and I know it was Austin Pee,
I'm not gonna go crazy here, but there's dudes.

Speaker 6 (44:00):
That are just flying around.

Speaker 5 (44:02):
They've got a freshman nose tackle who looks like a
first round pick, huge first step off the.

Speaker 6 (44:08):
Ball, can beat anybody in the A gap.

Speaker 5 (44:09):
They've got some edge rushers that are very very talented
and they're all young. They're all freshmen and sophomores. Quintavius
Johnson naturally gifted athlete, no wasted movement. He plays the
jack position for Georgia. Another jack right. These are the
edge rushers. Elo Medozi, He's a junior transfer from Army,
former receiver now playing edge rusher in the SEC. He's

(44:32):
got receiver type athleticism at the edge rusher position. And
then Chris Cole sophomore, good band, great closing speed to
the quarterback. Again, these are athletes at the edge, defensive
line spots their safety Kyroen Jones really flashing as well,
heavy body, gets into the box.

Speaker 6 (44:50):
I think this honestly.

Speaker 5 (44:51):
I think at the end of the year, guys, we're
gonna be talking about this Georgia defense like a couple
of years ago when they just ran through the entire country.
I don't know if their offense is that good yet.
I think the defense though, with the front and then
the secondary. kJ Bolden's a guy that's a name you've
probably heard before. Like it just it feels like Kirby

(45:13):
Smart's kind of getting his.

Speaker 6 (45:15):
Groove back with the defense.

Speaker 5 (45:17):
And if Gunner Stockton can figure out how to make
the throws and not make the big mistake. They've got
weapons on the offensive line and at receiver and at
running back. Man, I think this is the beginnings and
you want to get ahead of it because Georgia owns Tennessee.
Kirby Smart's four to zero against Joshhipelats and sipel took

(45:38):
over the program. The difference here is all of those
spreads were big spreads. They were all nine, ten, eleven, fourteen,
twenty points because Tennessee was bad and then up and
coming in Georgia was great. Now Georgia, in our minds,
is a little bit down, but I think the talent
is there. So this could be one of those statement
games where Georgia comes in and just lays a whooping

(45:59):
on tennis and we're like, Wow, this is a really
good Georgia team that we just haven't heard about yet.

Speaker 2 (46:04):
You know.

Speaker 4 (46:04):
I would say the headlining act in this game is
Tennessee's offense against George's defense. You know, but a good
warm up band really is George's offense against Tennessee's defense, because,
like you said, Jared, Tennessee is aggressive defensively. They go
after you. They're trying to go straight downhill and they

(46:25):
will leave themselves vulnerable. And it does make sense in
a matchup like this because Gunner Stockton is not throwing
the ball downfield at all, but Tennessee might dare him
to do that today, and that's gonna be really interesting
to watch. Can he hit a couple of explosives because
he's gonna have some one on one matchups, there's no
doubt about that. And he's got some playmakers too, So

(46:47):
Gunner Stockton, he's got to get it going. He's got
to dial it up. And what a stage to do
it on against a team that's been much better now
than it has been over the years in this rivalry.
But man like George's gotta find some explosive offense because
that's been tough to come by against much lesser opponents.
When they're scoring twenty eight against Austin p they're favored

(47:10):
in the forties, right. We talked to Seamus last week
and he's like, yeah, fade Kirby when he lay in forty.
Some points they just don't cover and normally it's like
they took their foot off the accelerator. Their foot wasn't
on the accelerator to begin with last week against Austin
p So, they got to find some offense and that
begins with Gunner Stockton. They've got to be able to

(47:30):
find some explosive pass plays in that offense.

Speaker 7 (47:33):
Yeah, not to overemphasize it, but sometimes defense is your
best offense. And here's why, because you can force more offense.
And Joey Aglar his last two seasons at Appalachian State.

Speaker 2 (47:45):
Now look, I mean.

Speaker 7 (47:47):
Again, different level, but still you gotta look at everything.
This is per Pro football focus. When facing pressure. He
has fifty one turnover worthy plays versus fifty.

Speaker 2 (48:01):
Big time plays.

Speaker 7 (48:02):
So PFF looks at it through the lens of hey,
not just was it an interception? Was it an interceptible
football that Agalar threw? And under pressure when he's going
for it all and he's tossing one up. Sometimes it's
with a hope and a prayer, and in fact, the

(48:22):
majority of the time, if you look at it, I
mean it's it's it's fifty one to fifty, So it's
it's not a good number when you're going against a
team that likes the pressure and you're faced with an
enormous sec matchup which you're gonna have to get used
to if you're gonna play in this conference to start
your season. I look the defense, like like Jared said,

(48:46):
it hasn't been minted. It's filled with dudes. Nobody's emerged
as the guy yet. But they got guys on that
Georgia defense. And I'm really curious to see if their
offense is embuoied by second chances that they're defense gets
them and kind of gets the ball rolling offensively and
gets stocked in more opportunities with the ball in his
hands offensively, if their defense does what I think they're gonna.

Speaker 5 (49:10):
Do today, Yeah, let's talk a little bit about the
Georgia offense. I am very excited for this offensive. One
Monroe Feeling is a first round left tackle. Love that
Drew Bobo. You might recognize that name, son of the
former quarterback current O C Mike Bobo.

Speaker 6 (49:29):
Very high football IQ.

Speaker 5 (49:31):
And then they're right guard Dantrell Glover, highest graded freshman
at the position last week.

Speaker 6 (49:36):
And I know it's Austin P.

Speaker 5 (49:37):
Again, I'm not going to go crazy over a twenty
eight to six win over Austin P. We've established that
Kirby doesn't cover these big numbers. But this offensive line
is mean and they're physical, and I love the trio
of bat. We have three backs. We know Nate Frazer,
he was all SEC last year. He's he's I think
it was actually all freshman SEC last year. I think
this year he's all SEC preseason. But the other two

(50:01):
guys are very worth mentioning. Bowens looks like a rock
star and Dwight Phillips was a track star in high school, so.

Speaker 6 (50:07):
He's got the speed.

Speaker 5 (50:08):
Bowens is kind of the bruiser, and Fraser's kind of
all all around back. So you've got three, I think,
very talented running backs and a really good offensive line.
Tennessee is gonna have to crash down hard on this
run game or else. George is just gonna own time
of possession, and what's that gonna do. It's gonna give
guys like Kobe Young, Dilon Bell, Zacharie Branch very dangerous athletes.

(50:29):
You saw a Branch take a screen pass and score
a couple of weeks ago against Marshall. A lot of
one on ones on the outside. Gunner Stockton's not Peyton
Manning and he's not Tom Brady. He's not that kind
of cerebral quarterback just yet. He's kind of a gamer,
he's kind of a gutty kid. But anyone can make
one on one vertical throws on the outside. You give
me one on one with you know, any of these guys,

(50:51):
and you just throw it up and you let them
make their plays. You don't have to be a rocket
scientist at the line of scrimmage to figure this out.
Tennessee's gonna crash. They're gonna hard, and I think it's
gonna open up some situations. Oh by the way, Jermad McCoy,
Ricky Gibson, two starting corners for Tennessee both out today.

Speaker 4 (51:11):
Oh by the way, their starting corners are out.

Speaker 5 (51:13):
Yeah, Oh by the way, Yeah, it's CB three, CB
four against those starting receivers for Georgia. Like this, I'll
be honest, this feels like Georgia forty two Tennessee twenty.
Like honestly, I would not be surprised if Tennessee, who
plays very aggressive, it just snowballs. It just completely gets

(51:35):
out of hand. Because Georgia wants a statement right now,
everyone thinks Georgia is not a good team, or maybe
not that maybe that's too harsh.

Speaker 6 (51:42):
No One thinks they're.

Speaker 5 (51:43):
A national title contender right now. I think if they
go into Knoxville and drop a big number today, I
think that narrative changes.

Speaker 4 (51:50):
Yeah, And it's one of these it's a good spot
to like be ahead of the curve if you will,
right Like, I think Georgia is one of the few
top teams teams that's gotten some cupcakes and hasn't looked dominant,
you know what I mean, And so it's a decent
spot to just say, hey, man, I know they haven't
looked great offensively, but everything that you laid out there,

(52:12):
Jared and rich it does set up for a potentially
explosive day for George's offense. Put up a good amount
of points, so to see it before it happens is
a great anticipation type spot to back the dogs. I
feel like today on the road against ut we'll see
if they get it done, man, but a great matchup.
Really looking forward to it. We've got rich oorn Berger,

Speaker 1 (53:54):
This follow the money, real good money.

Speaker 4 (53:57):
Yes, we are following the money with our good friend
Seamus McGee, team lead of Sports Trading at bet MGM.
And listen, Seamus, good morning to you. I'm a team
player over here, but every now and then I have
no choice but to throw a teammate under the bus.

Speaker 2 (54:12):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (54:14):
My teammate rich Ornberger. He's not only going against my
fighting Irish with the Aggies plus six and a half. Today,
he was kicking around a potential money line bet over here,
a money line pick with the Aggies, before he came
to his senses and just took the points. What do
you think of these radical thoughts from rich Ornberger here?
Seamus and Seamus?

Speaker 7 (54:35):
I mean, look, business over friendship. I mean we're talking
betting here. I mean I I just wanted to give
you that, you know, as you answer this question carefully.

Speaker 3 (54:45):
Well, for one, I think you know what answer you're
gonna get from Seamus McGee when it comes to the
fighting Irish.

Speaker 2 (54:53):
Guys literally waving a while.

Speaker 3 (54:56):
He says it right, But I mean, h it's a
decent shot for Rich. I mean, we're taking a lot
of Notre Dame money this week. I think has to
be a little expected. Notre Dame playing under the lights
at home in South Bend, usually a pretty public team.
So right now the book it will need the Aggies
to cover if if they went out right, that would

(55:16):
be great for the book. Probably kills a lot of
parlays as well.

Speaker 5 (55:20):
Yeah, Rich, on the side of the sports books today,
Sharp Ornberger over here, I love it is the sharp
side Georgia today or is it Tennessee? Because when I
look at this number, Shamus, I feel like we're getting
a discount on the Dogs and Kirby smart owns Josh Heipel,
but this is a Tennessee team that can I think

(55:41):
blow up some potential of this Georgia team.

Speaker 6 (55:44):
But I feel like George is the right side today.

Speaker 3 (55:46):
What do you think sharp side was Tennessee all week?
I this lined open up and run a touchdown has
been all the way down to three and a half
just about thereabouts now, So I mean, right now, it's
it's a lot of Tennessee money coming in from both
sides here. It was we were taking some Georgia for
some public Georgia money early, but it's been a lot

(56:08):
of Tennessee money in the past, you know, forty eight hours,
I'd say, I think we're gonna need Georgia to cover here.

Speaker 4 (56:15):
I'm thinking out go ahead, right you that?

Speaker 7 (56:17):
Sorry, I was just jumping in to ask about this
North Texas Washington State game.

Speaker 2 (56:23):
It's an odd spread.

Speaker 7 (56:25):
I mean, North Texas went all the way from plus
three and a half dogs to now being favored five
and a half. Is this more of a line movement
based on what North Texas is or is it more
against what the Cougars aren't so far?

Speaker 3 (56:40):
Yeah, that was a weird one. It's a weird game, honestly.
It's to see this point in the year. You know,
North Texas had a really tough road trip to Western
Michigan last week. Wazoo obviously had a nice win last
week as well, But yeah, North Texas been the sharp
side all week here. I'm not sure what handle's looking

(57:01):
like here so far on this game, but I feel
like we're gonna need Wazoo to come out with a
covering five and a half.

Speaker 4 (57:09):
Here, I'll tell you, I think the stinky line of
the week is this Vanderbilt South Carolina game where you
look at the game Cocks, they're number eleven, they're at home,
they've got a Heisman candidate at quarterback, and they're three
point favorites against Vandy. Like some real, actual love for

(57:29):
Vanderbilt in this matchup. What do you think about this
one here, Seamus, You're.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
Dead right, this is the weirdest line of the week.
I can't believe this is under three, to be honest.
I mean, you argue they both played the same team
in Virginia Tech, one on neutral, one on the road,
and one team did be the crap out of Virginia
Tech and the other team didn't look that great. But yeah,

(57:55):
I'm looking at what we need here in this game.
I think it's gonna be a big handle game. This
is a fun matchup between Sellers and Pavia and right
now it is a lot of public money taking that
South Carolina minus three, So we'll see how this shakes out.

Speaker 5 (58:09):
I'll be honest, I think another stinky line is Florida
at LSU. I mean LSU is like Gangbusters, right, They
beat Clemson. Their defense looks legit, everyone's everything's hunky dory
with Brian Kelly. All of a sudden, and here comes
Florida limping in after losing to USF and you can
get this at under a touchdown if you want to
bet LSU.

Speaker 6 (58:30):
It feels like.

Speaker 5 (58:31):
You're screaming for some Tigers money here. And this Gators team,
I think, as bad as they look last week, the
ceiling with DJ Lagway, I think is still good enough
to beat LSU.

Speaker 2 (58:42):
Yeah, it's been.

Speaker 3 (58:43):
It's been a bit both sides. Actually here, I think
on this six and a half will end up getting
a lot of LSU money. But Sharp's definitely kept this
line to where it is right now. It's definitely a
weird spot. It seems like so typical in college football
where it's like, oh, everyone is out on this team Florida,
and then the next week they'll probably go in to

(59:03):
baton Rouge. They just went out right, you know, like
it's such a weird sport and it's definitely a weird
line for sure.

Speaker 7 (59:10):
I'm guessing they took down bet MGM Penn State Villanova
because so much money was pouring in on my nitney Lions, Seamus,
So give me the good news. How much are they
gonna win by fifty sixty? What are we thinking?

Speaker 3 (59:25):
You know, it's funny he had Indiana last I cover
a forty seven and a half point spread relatively easy,
and they almost had it covered in the first half.
And Franklin's been you know, he's been toying around with
this these big points first few weeks. So do they
go for it this week? Did he just lay the

(59:47):
hammer to Villanova who was going to Penn State. I
don't know, it's gonna be tough, but I could see
Franklin really trying to run it up just because they
didn't look great against FIU and they I got to
get Alur going, you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (01:00:02):
Yeah, no, absolutely all right, Seamus. So we've got a
lot to pick from here. Where are you going with
your seamous special this week?

Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
You know, I was really close to pulling the trigger
on Temple with the points weird spot for Oklahoma on
the road in Philly after a huge prime time win
SEC play on.

Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
Deck and at Temple.

Speaker 3 (01:00:26):
QB, by the way, who is one of the highest
rated guys in the country right now. But instead, of
course I have to go to ball State New Hampshire.
We're taking New Hampshire out right?

Speaker 6 (01:00:39):
What New Hampshire?

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
Yeah, I love him so much.

Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
Ball State's only laying three against New Hampshire at home.

Speaker 5 (01:00:50):
Here.

Speaker 7 (01:00:51):
It's everybody knows ball State plays New Hampshire tough.

Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
We've always said that.

Speaker 5 (01:00:56):
Yeah, that's I mean, that's basically our every week we
say that here on the show.

Speaker 4 (01:01:00):
Man, What are you gonna do when it's not FBS
versus fcs. You love these lines here, Seamous, you're all
about the unbelievable line.

Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
Well, luckily that the smelly lines don't limit themselves to
the FBS. There'll be plenty of FCF actions.

Speaker 6 (01:01:17):
Amen to that.

Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
All right, Seamus, you're the best man. Thanks for the time,
Enjoy the day. We'll catch you soon.

Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
Joy the games, guys, have a good one you too.

Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
There He is Seamus McGee, team lead of sports trading
at bed MGM. Man, I'll tell you what. Ball State
is freaking terrible. They're they're bad. So that could be
a very good pick by Seamus. We shall see. How
about this. We've got Wisconsin at Alabama. Bama favored by
nearly three touchdowns, twenty and a half total is forty

(01:01:45):
five and a half. And we've got some injury news
that it was thought to be maybe running back jam
Miller would be back, not expected to play, so he
and also Tim Keenan, he's a defensive lineman. They're not
expected to play against Wisconsin. So that's a big part
of this handicap because you know, without jam Miller, they

(01:02:07):
are missing some juice in that running game. A big
part of the running game is out Ryan Williams, the
stud wide receiver. He's expected to play. Now you look
at Wisconsin, man, like, this is an offense that is
not well suited to go up against Alabama. You know,
it's not like Florida State, where they can throw a
bunch at you. Their quarterback is elusive and athletic and

(01:02:30):
there's some window dressing, and this is more straight ahead,
no nonsense. Right, They're not a whole lot of bells
and whistles. It's not an offense that gives Alabama problems.
And they're on their backup quarterback who's he's been efficient.
But in a spot like this, yikes, it's just a
lot of points, a lot of points to lay with Bama.
But at least the matchup itself. I could see Bama

(01:02:55):
covering this. I would stay away because it's a lot
of points, but I could see Bama covering this potentially.

Speaker 7 (01:03:01):
Yeah, this is a hard one to go with because
there's so much uncertainty early season, a road test for
a team that already has flux at quarterback. Edwards out
O'Neill in the transfer from San Diego State. Over this offseason,
I watched a full season on Danny O'Neill. I saw

(01:03:22):
every single snap he took last year, and he was
a project.

Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
He's a true sophomore.

Speaker 7 (01:03:28):
He had a full season as a true freshman under
his belt at San Diego State and competed.

Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
He is a tough dude.

Speaker 7 (01:03:35):
He plays hurt, so you know, even though they have
a quarterback injury situation, it's gonna take a lot to
take O'Neill off the field. However, like you said, Tuscaloosa
on the road, you've only thrown twenty seven passes so
far this season. It's only your second year in college
football and you're playing in front of the Crimson Tide fans.

(01:03:58):
It's a tough spot for the best and regardless of
what you want to say about Bama in terms of
the number and covering the number. It's just one of
those games where unless you have a great feeling about
one side or the other, unless you have a great
feeling about taking the points or giving him away. I
agree with you, Brian, this is just with all of
the added injury notes, this is a stay away game.

Speaker 4 (01:04:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
I kind of like Bama here.

Speaker 4 (01:04:24):
You do really well.

Speaker 6 (01:04:25):
Well, let's let's talk this out.

Speaker 2 (01:04:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:04:28):
Danny O'Neill, Rich Hornberger's guy from SDSU watched them a
ton last year. He just said he's a project. He
has never faced a power for opponent in his career.
That would be the first one. Wow, you're on the
road at Bama.

Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:04:43):
Last year he played two really big games. Rich was
on the call for both boys e UNLV.

Speaker 4 (01:04:49):
That's one of those two game games right there.

Speaker 5 (01:04:51):
That's massive games in those two games, pro.

Speaker 6 (01:04:57):
In those two games, those are not good games.

Speaker 5 (01:05:00):
Riches cast x No, No, they were not for combined ants.
They got outscored ninety seven to forty four. By the way,
what is Wisconsin known for? Run the ballground and pound?
Right Their leading rusher in this game is gonna be
a red shirt freshman by the name of Dylan Edwards,

(01:05:21):
who now has forty career carries under his belt, more
than half of them this year. That is your offensive output,
your main guys, your quarterback, you're running back.

Speaker 6 (01:05:31):
I just laid it out for you.

Speaker 5 (01:05:33):
Meanwhile, on the other side, Bama coming off a shutout
win over ULM, and I know you're like, oh, ULM stinks.
I like their head coach, Brian Vincent. He's turned that
program around. So I think that shutout win is kind
of the turning point. And now you get the statement game.
Right we had we had the Florida State disaster. Now

(01:05:56):
you get the bounce back against ULM. Now you get
the statement against the Big ten team. Yeah, style points matter.
Alabama's behind the eight ball. They've already got a loss
under their belt. The SEC gauntlet will not be forgiving.
I think style points matter, and I think if Alabama
can win by fifty, they will. Now maybe they can't

(01:06:19):
because their offense is still a little bit wonky. But
my handicap on this Bama team going into the year
was the defense is elite, and they got punked by
Malson and Castillanos in Week one, and they came back
and they put up a zero in Week two. I
don't think Wisconsin' scoring too many points with Danny O'Neil
and Dylan Edwards this week, So if Alabama can drop

(01:06:40):
forty or fifty, it just it feels like this is
like last year.

Speaker 6 (01:06:44):
This was forty two to.

Speaker 5 (01:06:45):
Ten in Madison, Right, Yeah, I mean, what's to say.
That's not the score line again, and that's a pretty
that's a double digit cover for Bama this week.

Speaker 4 (01:06:52):
Well, that's the thing. It's funny you said that because
I just had a flashback. I had a it was
like a Facebook memory last year, and it was I
had a flashback to like Jared, you and I we
were in DC yeah for this show, and Rich would
have been there too, but he had broadcasting duties going on,
so it's just you and me. And that was the

(01:07:13):
day I remember, like, after the show, we went out,
we're watching games with the bet MGM people, you know,
roubin elbows and all that good stuff. And that's when
Bama crushed Wisconsin crushed him. And that game's on the
road for Alabama. And listen, there are some not everybody's back,
but there are still a lot of players that are
are still around in this same matchup. So the thing

(01:07:36):
that directly translates to today's game from last year's matchup
is that Wisconsin's offense is not well suited to go
up against Bama's defense at all. And that's the thing.
It's not like Bama who was brutal in their opener
against Florida State. That was an embarrassing loss. They got punked.

(01:07:57):
It's not like blowing out the Warhawks last week, you know,
seventy three to nothing. They're like, all right, cool, we
can just ease back into the schedule here. If they
get up on Wisconsin and they're pushing them around, they
are going to do everything they can to embarrass them.
They are not This is not a team like maybe Miami.
They get up on South Florida and they lose focus

(01:08:18):
a little bit if Miami. If Alabama gets up on Wisconsin,
they will pummel Wisconsin. They're not going to just kind
of lose focus and Wisconsin eases back into the game.
That will not happen. If they get up they're gonna
punk them big time.

Speaker 7 (01:08:33):
Well, and Bama has the backs to do it also,
So say they score quick a couple of times, even
with jam out, this kid Riley, who's backing him up
is good. You saw him against ULM. He's already averaging
over six yards per carry this season. You know he
may emerge as the guy out of that backfield at

(01:08:55):
some point. Anyways, But then you mentioned Alabama's defense, who
held Louisiana Monroe to one forty eight total total yards,
one forty eight, three turnovers. I mean that's basically like
in baseball throwing a complete game shutout. Yeah, I mean,
it's almost a perfect game. You know, it's it's a

(01:09:15):
beautiful performance. And like you said, a lot of hostility
to take out after being fourteen plus point favorites over
FSU and getting dominated to open your season. And Caitlin
de Boor, he has to go a long way to
win back the tuscalosis that he lost Week one. So
if they get up, you know, I mean, like this

(01:09:38):
is one of those spots where I don't love it
out the gates, But like Brian's saying, if they have
a lead, say it's a two score, thirteen points, twenty
point lead at halftime, they're not going to stop the onslaught.
Whatever the second half over or point spread is, you
could probably side with the Tide and be doing your

(01:09:58):
wild favorite because I agree with you. I think they
will pour it on the Badgers.

Speaker 5 (01:10:04):
Yeah, Bama's on the on the card this week, guys,
I'll give it. I mean, I know, you know, the
people listening now probably aren't going to be listening or
hopefully you're listening the whole show. Actually shout out to
Johnny mcbett on Twitter. He says, we need more than
three hours. You listen to Scott's you give us an
extra hour. No, I think I think this is on
the card. This was on my College Football Contest weekly card.

(01:10:26):
Under three touchdowns feels like a bet and I think
it's twenty and a half right now on BETMGM, it's.

Speaker 4 (01:10:31):
A nit down ever so slightly nineteen and a half.

Speaker 6 (01:10:34):
So someone's betting Wisconsin. Good luck, Good luck.

Speaker 5 (01:10:37):
Whoever's betting Wisconsin, come call me up because I'll take
your money. I just don't see how they're scoring much
in this game. I really like Bama's run defense. My
handicap on them coming into the year was this is
going to be one of the best run defenses in
college football. And everybody jumped off the bandwagon because Gus
Malzon had six months to prepare and Castianos ran left, right,

(01:10:58):
and center. There isn't a There isn't a Thomas Castianas
on this Wisconsin team. I mean, Rich just gave you
the cap he watched Danny O'Neil all of last year.
Can you make that comparison? Is daniy O'Neil and even
even close to the running quarterback of Thomas Castiano's. Those
mobile quarterbacks have given these Bama defense's problems. But I
don't think that's going to be the case today.

Speaker 7 (01:11:17):
Now he's he's he's undersized also, which is it hurts
you if you're Wisconsin and you're gonna try to win
kind of throwing the change up pitch. Sometimes you see
a backup come in the game. Plans not clear against him.
You could see him have some success. You have to
be careful because remember you're on QB number two with
Edwards out. If you're the Badgers and the season's just begun.

(01:11:39):
If you get this kid hurt and Edwards isn't back
and it doesn't sound like he's going to be back
this week or potentially next week, this could really throw
your season into a tailspin. So don't expect to see
Danie O'Neil also risking life and limb, especially if this
game is starting to get out of hand in the

(01:11:59):
you know, toward the end to the first half.

Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
Man.

Speaker 4 (01:12:01):
And that's like, that's the most interesting stat to me
is Danny O'Neil's first power for opponent.

Speaker 6 (01:12:09):
Yeah, Oregon State was the closest he came last year,
but they're kind of you know in France.

Speaker 7 (01:12:13):
Yeah, and that's a true software Brian. He's only appeared.
This will be his what fifteenth game of his career.
He's ever He's in.

Speaker 5 (01:12:19):
Tuss the LUSA against a BAMA team that is foaming
at the mouth.

Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
Tough.

Speaker 4 (01:12:25):
That's tough, spot ask tough.

Speaker 2 (01:12:27):
I'm rooting for him.

Speaker 7 (01:12:28):
Great family, awesome parents, really really wonderful kid.

Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
And I'm listen.

Speaker 7 (01:12:33):
If he goes out there and balls out, oh man,
I will stand with a salute the figures to the
forehead and I will say good on you, brother. It's
it's an uphill climb though, because of all the reasons
we lay down. But that's why we love college football. Yeah,
because stars are born every Saturday.

Speaker 4 (01:12:50):
Yeah, no doubt. All right, we got rich Orenberger, Penn State,
All American Jared Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian No.

Prop it up.

Speaker 4 (01:13:58):
Player play Yes the prop vetting market, Jared, we start
with you with something you have circled.

Speaker 5 (01:14:05):
Well, I'm just gonna keep fading John Matteer until I
win one of these bets because.

Speaker 6 (01:14:09):
Last week he proved me wrong.

Speaker 5 (01:14:10):
Now, to be fair, last week it was I did
not expect there to be so many explosives in the game.

Speaker 6 (01:14:16):
Michigan did not tackle very well.

Speaker 5 (01:14:18):
But this week, instead of going under on Mattier's passing yards,
let's try to go under on his rushing yards. And
we talk about this all the time, right, it's hard
to bet over on rushing yards for quarterbacks because of sacks. Well,
you can bet the under and you will get the
advantage of the sacks.

Speaker 6 (01:14:34):
So he had seven carries for twenty four yards in
Week one against Illinois State.

Speaker 5 (01:14:38):
Then he had the explosion last week nineteen carries for
seventy four yards two tuds against Michigan. We mentioned this before,
actually Seamus mentioned it. We haven't talked about it yet.
We can later. But this is a massive sandwich game
for Oklahoma. You get Auburn on deck, he had Michigan
last week and in the SEC Gauntlet to come. Ben
Arbuckle needs to keep some bullet in the chamber for

(01:15:00):
down the stretch of this season. I do not think
John Mattier's legs need to be a weapon for you
to beat Temple. So let's throttle down here, mister arbuckle.
Let's give John some nice easy throws to the outside,
no design quarterback runs, and let's cruise.

Speaker 6 (01:15:15):
To a win in Philly over Temple.

Speaker 5 (01:15:17):
So we'll go under forty two and a half rushing
yards for.

Speaker 6 (01:15:20):
The Oklahoma Sooners quarterback.

Speaker 7 (01:15:23):
Okay Arkansaw head into Mississippi to face Ole Miss. Arkansas
right now dog by seven points, but I want to
concentrate on their quarterback Tayling Green, who I got.

Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
To see a lot last season.

Speaker 7 (01:15:37):
His passing yardage is at two forty four and a half.
I'm taking the over. Here's why Ole Miss. They don't
get to the quarterback in their pass rush, and they
also don't tackle well. I think this is gonna be
a close game, so you're gonna need to air the
ball out if you're the Razorbacks, and I think they will.
I think they will effectively. And also when your bad

(01:15:59):
tackle defense going against a high powered offense, the yards
after the catch is what I'm looking at So it's
not only completing the ball downfield, having time in the pocket,
but also if you get this out on a swing
pass or on a bubble screen. If ole Miss struggles
to tackle your athletes in space, it only booies your
passing stats. So give me Taylor Green over two forty

(01:16:22):
four and a half through the air today.

Speaker 4 (01:16:24):
Okay, Can I give you a random one? If random? Okay,
I'm looking at Purdue running back Devin Macabee. I actually
like over sixty three and a half rushing yards. They're
at home against USC and here's the thing is, you
might look at the spread and go like, wow, Purdue

(01:16:45):
plus twenty and a half. If they're down, you know,
just game script, they're gonna be throwing the ball. They
might just abandon the running game altogether. And while that's
a possibility, I've seen them in this spot before. I
remember on the road against Ohio State, huge underdogs, and
they're running MacCabe, running him, running him, running him, trying to,

(01:17:06):
you know, get some flow in that offense, trying to
get positive yards, trying to you know, eat into the clock,
you know, like let's keep this, let shorten this game.
While we're big underdogs, here, right, and so I think
that's what happens today. I think that they're gonna feed Makaby.
It's not like USC is the eighty five Bears. You
know their ruts defense can be exploited. So I'll go

(01:17:28):
Makaby over sixty three and a half rushing yards to
perdue running back. That's about as random as I can get.

Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
On you today.

Speaker 6 (01:17:35):
You know that is pretty random?

Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
Yeah, I love it.

Speaker 5 (01:17:38):
How do we deal about baiting this A and M
run defense which is giving up a lot of yards?
I know that goes against Rich's parlay platter. Yeah, but
they are just getting Torq. That was the one thing
I noticed when I was looking at the A and
M notreed Ame cap this week was I was surprised.
I think it's they're giving up a buck forty on
the ground this year and they haven't played.

Speaker 6 (01:17:58):
Gangbusters of a schedule yet. Yeah, Jadarian Price.

Speaker 5 (01:18:01):
So the big question with Notre Dame and Brian, I'm
sure you pull your hair out every week watching, like
why don't they give Jeremiah Love more carries? Like it's
like they never give him a full workload. He is
minus two dollars to score. I would stay away from that.

Speaker 4 (01:18:14):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (01:18:15):
But Jadarian Price, who again has been kind of this
change up that is, I think, become more of a
fastball frankly for Notre Dame's running attack.

Speaker 6 (01:18:23):
Plus one eighty five to score.

Speaker 5 (01:18:25):
So if they do get down on the goal line
and Love is, you know, on the sidelines taken up either,
I mean, I feel like both of these guys are
pretty decent bets to score. I wouldn't bet the Love
price at minus two hundred. The other option is CJ
Cart plus one ninety. I think at Brian, I'll defer
to you. You know, if we're going to attack this
A and M run defense, we can't bet Love minus
two hundred. Would you prefer Price or Car at the

(01:18:46):
same price? Essentially, that's a great question.

Speaker 4 (01:18:50):
It's a it's a matter of how many, how many rushes,
how many rushing attempts does Starian Price get.

Speaker 6 (01:18:57):
That's the thing is.

Speaker 4 (01:18:58):
I mean, maybe you get down by the goal line,
but listen, Jeremiah Love is still a good goal line option.
It's not like every time that the run against your
Penn State Nitney Alliance, that's a goal line run. It's
the most famous run of last year, you know, so
it's not like they just take him off the field
all the time.

Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
There.

Speaker 4 (01:19:15):
I would probably lean Car, I believe.

Speaker 5 (01:19:17):
It or not interesting, Yeah, because he's definitely going to
be on the field.

Speaker 6 (01:19:21):
Whereas Price at the coin flip.

Speaker 4 (01:19:22):
You don't know right right, And it's fresh in my
mind where he ran for a touchdown against Miami.

Speaker 6 (01:19:27):
He did for a touchdown.

Speaker 5 (01:19:29):
Yeah, here you go, cej Car plus one ninety a
little bonus bonus.

Speaker 6 (01:19:32):
Sweetener for your problem at all.

Speaker 4 (01:19:34):
Yeah, not bad at all, Man, minus two hundred for
Jeremiah at that. You can't if you're in the market
for rushing yards. He's at seventy five and a half
Jeremiah Love, and it's a good spot for it, right
you You outlined how A and m has been rough
against the rush, and you got to get him going.
You absolutely have to get him going home opener. He

(01:19:55):
didn't do anything against Miami and is a good spot
for Jeremiah Love. Just not that touchdown market. That's pretty wild.
Minus two hundred. Okay, all right, comeing up next. Well,
we started down this road, we might as well continue, right,
One guy to watch in a big matchup. Oh, good
Saturday morning to you. Hope everything is going great. We

(01:20:16):
are less than an hour away from kickoff in this
early noon Eastern window. Can't wait for that. We get
a little bit later in the evening. I can't do
the quick math. Let me try, all right, how many
hours are we away from the Irish? We are eight
and a half hours away from kickoff of the Notre
Dame fighting Irish. They're hosting Texas A and M. And

(01:20:39):
I think it's a big game, bigger game for Notre
Dame because you lose this, you start off zero to two.
You look at the schedule, schedule is really light, and
that's that's kind of good, kind of bad, because even
if they run the table and they win ten straight games,
they're ten and two. I don't know if anyone's ranked.
They might have two logainst ranked teams and no wins

(01:21:02):
against ranked opponents. That could possibly be the case, depending
on how the rest of the schedule shakes out. It's
a big game for Notre Dame. You need this to
be in a much better spot to be a playoff
team because and you could argue, hey, it's Notre Dame.
If they're ten and two, they'd probably find their way
in the playoff there's no guarantee. It's a really light
schedule from here on out. So I think you got

(01:21:25):
to get by Texas, A and M to have a
really strong case when it comes time for the playoff
teams to be announced, right the committee. I know Notre
Dame's gonna they're gonna bring eyeballs and ratings and all
that good stuff. But if somebody else just has a
flat out much better resume, they might be on the
outside looking in. So you don't want to be in
a situation like that if you're the Irish.

Speaker 7 (01:21:47):
Yeah, look, I like the points with the Agis, but
I don't like Notre Dame to start their season Z
one two. So those things run kind of, you know, counterintuitively.

Speaker 2 (01:21:57):
But if you believe that.

Speaker 7 (01:22:00):
Marcus Freeman's gonna have his team ready to play, but
you also believe that the Haggies are going to be
ready for the challenge, well then you can hold those
two truths in your head and they're not mutually exclusive.
Here's the problem for Notre Dame. They looked bad against Miami.
Here's the good news. Miami looks real. Here's the bad

(01:22:21):
news for Notre Dame. They're going against their next big
opponent and the ads you perfectly laid out.

Speaker 2 (01:22:27):
If they lose to them.

Speaker 7 (01:22:29):
Here's the good news, because the motivation is going to
be a factor. After licking your wounds for an additional week.
You have to win every single game for the rest
of this season. There is no more any margin left.

Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
So I really like the spot.

Speaker 7 (01:22:45):
To take the points if you believe in the Haggis,
But I don't really forecast anyway.

Speaker 2 (01:22:52):
Freeman. Lets this team let this one slip.

Speaker 7 (01:22:55):
By, because if he does, you've just made yourself the
biggest bed, you know what I mean, and you're gonna
have to sleep in it for the rest of the season.

Speaker 2 (01:23:04):
You you have no wiggle room.

Speaker 7 (01:23:06):
You're gonna have to blow certain teams out. You're gonna
have to win in dominant fashion for the rest of
the season, and that just puts you behind the eight ball.
They need a big win. This is their opportunity. I
think they get that done today.

Speaker 2 (01:23:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:23:20):
We heard some chatter this week about Marcel Reid wanting
to be this you know quarterback that's not just the
mobile quarterback right Like we know he can run, He's
taken a lot of time to improve his throwing ability
and his ability to read a defense. I think that's
always the key when I watch these young quarterbacks is

(01:23:41):
are they you know, pick and stick, you know, one
read one side of the field guy, or can they
sit in the pocket, scan, deliver and right now read
is the last? Like, he hasn't proven that he can
do the latter just yet, but he takes a lot
of pride in that, and I think that's one of
the reasons why he kind of burst onto the scene

(01:24:02):
last year was he was he offered kind of a
change up to Connor Wegman, who played really well last
night for Houston, by the way. But now Wegman's gone, right,
he's transferred out and it's Reid's team. This is the
problem with Notre Dame is the defense that they play, actually,
to me, lends to the more rpo style, like they're
gonna get up in your grill. They're gonna play a

(01:24:22):
lot of man to man. And when you play man
to man defense and you stack the box like the quarterbacks,
legs I think are a factor because it's hard to
account for that. So I think we're gonna see a
lot of RPOs. I think we're gonna see an opportunity
for Marcell reads legs to be a factor in this game.
But the question is, can guys like Conception and Craver
like the receivers for A and M.

Speaker 6 (01:24:41):
Can they get open?

Speaker 5 (01:24:42):
Because Brian, if you want to talk about the strength
of this Notre Dame team, I think to me, it's
the defense.

Speaker 6 (01:24:47):
In the secondary. I mean, their corners are lockdown corners.

Speaker 5 (01:24:50):
So it'll be interesting to see if Marcel Reid is
just the running quarterback today or if he can get
loose a little bit with his arm and get some
of these receivers open.

Speaker 6 (01:25:00):
On the other side.

Speaker 2 (01:25:00):
For CJ.

Speaker 5 (01:25:01):
Carr, the thing I noticed, again, we have one data
point for Notre Dame. We know a whole lot to
go off here. But the thing I noticed about the
Miami game, it was all free access throats. It was
all hitches and slants and screens. He only attempted one
pass twenty or more yards downfield. Do they trust CJ.
Carr to take shots? Because we know A and M
is susceptible to the run right kind of like Tennessee
where they're going to play fast furious in the box

(01:25:23):
because they have to stop that Georgia run game. So
if A and M creeps it up? Do they trust CJ.
Carr enough to take some shots down the field? Like
these are kind of the games within the games that
I'm be very interested to watch today. It's Marcel Reid.
Is he just an RPO running quarterback? And do the
Irish trust CJ. Carr to loosen up that A and
M defense and go vertical?

Speaker 4 (01:25:44):
Yeah, that's the interesting part with Marcel Reid is fundamentally
I like when quarterbacks try to expand their game, right, Like,
especially you see this in the NFL. Sometimes there'll be
quarterbacks so I'm not just the running quarterback, you know,
and it's like, well, there's nothing wrong with expanding your game,
but there are times that you're trying to prove that

(01:26:06):
you're more of a runner and you get away from
what you do best. You know, Like if if justin Fields,
the Jets quarterback is like, I'm not just a running
quarterback and it's third and four and he can run
for it, but he wants to show that he can
throw for it. That's a problem, agreed, Like, it's nothing
wrong with Marcel trying to, you know, expand his game,
just don't get away from what he does best. And

(01:26:27):
he's a really good threat with his legs. So and
one thing you mentioned it the outside corners, Jared. Their
outside corners are really good with more and Gray. Yep,
but CJ Conceptsione man over the middle. He is eating
teams alive. He's off to a great start and that's
where Miami had a lot of success against Notre Dame.

(01:26:48):
So Conceptsion, I could see him like, you know, sneak beaking,
rapid fire. I actually like that over forty one and
a half receiving yards for Conceptsione. He's been that good
for the Aggies, and it just the game. It lends
itself to that happening. If you've got great outside corners,
are you going to test the outside corners with Marcel Reid? No,

(01:27:09):
probably not. You're probably gonna work the middle of the
field with Conceptsione, who's been a beast up. He was
the guy from NC State who had a lot of
success there. So I think Notre Dame they've got a
really they've got to do a really good job of
tackling today because I think you're going to see some
of these Aggies. It's a little bit like Texas. You know,
Texas likes to throw these short routes and let their

(01:27:30):
playmakers eat, and the Aggies like to do that also.
So if Conceptsione he runs a little slant and he
catches it, you don't make that a five yard gain.
Just don't make it a twenty five yard game. You
got to be able to tackle well. I think it's
a big deal for Notre Dames defense.

Speaker 7 (01:27:45):
Well, and then switching back over to Notre Dame's offense
and talking about the things that they didn't do well
that they should have done well, that they did well
last year. And they're opener against Miami. They led with
the pass heavy script and I didn't like it. I
didn't like it, especially with Jeremiah Love in the backfield,
the guy who rushed for over eleven hundred yards last
year and seventeen touchdowns. Again, it's kind of going back

(01:28:07):
to what we were talking about with USF and their
big game today. If you're a running team and that's
your bread and butter, don't don't get too far from that.
Like you can lean into that. And I don't think
the Aggies, in fact, I know that haven't seen an
offensive line like they're going to face today against Notre
Dame and last year against A and M. Notre Dame

(01:28:28):
ran for one ninety eight. I mean, wow, that's significant.
And so if you're the fighting Irish and you have
two weeks to prepare and you turn on the film
from Miami and you look at all the missed opportunities
against light boxes to run the football, and then you
turn on the film from last year against the Aggies

(01:28:50):
and you rush for almost two hundred yards. What do
you think Marcus Freeman is telling his offensive coordinator. He's
telling him, Hey, buddy, let's not get a Q today.
Let's go and play smash mouth football. We'll do our
job on our side of the ball. You play keep away.

Speaker 2 (01:29:07):
We are going to win this football game.

Speaker 7 (01:29:10):
And that is the rallying cry for two weeks heading
into this matchup against the Aggies.

Speaker 6 (01:29:16):
You know, it's funny because you just kind of light
bulbed me Rich.

Speaker 2 (01:29:23):
You're welcome.

Speaker 6 (01:29:23):
I like it, Thank you, Thank you. A and M.

Speaker 5 (01:29:27):
Last year gave up all those yards on the ground
a Notre Dame at home, by the way, and this
was an A and M defense. Lest you forget, three
guys in the top sixty I think in the NFL draft, Stewart,
Scourton and Turner, and that's why the A and M
defense is struggling a little bit to stop the run
this year. When you lose three guys in your front

(01:29:49):
seven in the first two rounds of the draft, yeah,
I could see why your defense gonna struggle, But that again,
Notre Dame was able to run it last year on
the road with the those three guys in the lineup. Now,
to be fair, I think Riley Leonard's legs offered a
little bit more of a change up, which makes the
other running backs a little bit harder to defend. I

(01:30:10):
don't think CJ. Carr is as elusive as Riley Leonard
was last year. I'll give you a name on A
and M's defense to watch, and I think this guy
is going to be the key to shutting down this
Notre Dame run game, and it's Torrian York, the middle
linebacker for A and M. From what I can see,
he looks like the most instinctual linebacker in the SEC.

(01:30:31):
Not as physically gifted five eleven two thirty five, but
he moves with intent, especially at the second level, and
he's great at sniffing out those fakes and play action.
That's what I see when I watch him on tape,
so I know A and M's defense has struggled to
stop the run. But Tory and York, the middle linebacker,
he is the key to A and M playing a
solid game on defense. Today, their defense has struggled to

(01:30:54):
stop the run again, allowing a buck forty per game.
But Tory and York might be the guy who can.

Speaker 6 (01:30:59):
At least plug some of the holes.

Speaker 5 (01:31:01):
Because to Brian's point, like, if this Notre Dame run
game gets going, I mean they've got too. They definitely
have the best running back in the country in Love
and Price ain't far behind. So this is a very
dangerous run game, and they have a whole week to prepare.
And I really want to take A and M. Here
I got seven, but now that it's six and a half,

(01:31:23):
I can't give it to you.

Speaker 6 (01:31:24):
Guys in rapid fire. I think it's a little too
thin for me.

Speaker 4 (01:31:29):
That's the thing, too, is kind of blending. What you
both are saying is I'm with you Rich, you gotta
pound the rock if your Notre Dame. But at the
same time, Notre Dame, in my opinion, was way too
careful with CJ. Carr against Miami, especially in the first half,
it was just at the line of scrimmage, like, whoa, whoa,
this is the first college star. Let's not get radical

(01:31:49):
and throw the ball like, you know, ten yards downfield. Whoa, whoa,
that's a little too much. That was the first half.
And it's like, if Notre Dame is able to run
the ball effectively, and you see ann like start to
play the run, they start putting that eighth guy in
the box, they're cheating up. It's like, don't be afraid
to throw it downfield. You're like CJ. Carr is capable

(01:32:10):
of doing that. And this A and M defense, they've
given up some chunk plays. They've given up eight gains
of twenty plus yards already this season and they've played
UTSA and Utah State those are their opponents, so twenty
plus yards eight times. So I think you're gonna see
some explosive plays from Notre Dame, especially the ground game.
And if you're able to do that, I would start

(01:32:32):
getting greedy. I wouldn't be like, oh, let's just lean
on this. It's like, if you get opportunities in the
passing game to throw it downfield, do it. Don't settle
for this dink and dunk stuff. If you can hit
some explosives, try to do it. So I want to
see if Notre Dame takes the handcuffs off of CJ.
Carr because they're not gonna run it, you know, eighty
times today and throw it too like they're gonna throw

(01:32:54):
it as well. I just want to see how what's
the average depth of target the A dot, you know,
because he threw it downfield twice and they were success
successful both times against Miami. One was a busted coverage.
But I don't think that you could you should act
like this guy is. They treated him like he was
kind of broken, you know, and I know they're trying

(01:33:14):
to be safe, but they were safe to a fault
against Miami.

Speaker 7 (01:33:17):
I think, yeah, it's it's it's really interesting how certain
coordinators baby a quarterback into getting themselves completely out of
a winning script. If you want to baby a quarterback
and get him used to playing big time college football,
do what you do and do it well, you know,

(01:33:39):
indoctrinate him to the program, show him or if he's
new to your program, show him how it's done at
your school. Amend your philosophy philosophies to match his strengths
and hide his weaknesses. And I think Notre Dame got
a little too in the mindset offensively, like, hey, we
got to pick a script with our ten or fifteen

(01:34:02):
opening plays where when we get the ball, we're gonna
patty cake a couple of throws close to the line
of scrimmage and it just got away from them.

Speaker 2 (01:34:11):
You know.

Speaker 7 (01:34:11):
Meanwhile, if you run the football effectively, that's gonna bring
the defense.

Speaker 2 (01:34:15):
Closer line of scrimmage.

Speaker 7 (01:34:16):
If you have even lazy run fakes in the backfield,
it is going to get the defenders taking a couple
of steps downhill before chasing their route responsibilities. And that
gives you a little bit more room, a little bit
more air in the passing game to throw to open
receivers as opposed to closely covered receivers, whether.

Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
It be in zone or man.

Speaker 7 (01:34:37):
I think Notre Dame is going to look at all
of that that they see against Miami, turn on that
film from last year, and they're gonna say, why did
we try to get cute? We gotta be us. And
you see certain teams do this all the time. They're
just who they are, regardless of the opponent they're playing.
And then you see other teams try to amend their

(01:34:58):
style to match the moment or the team they're facing,
and it's hard to be that team. You really got
to hone it in in just a week's time to
be that team. And I don't think Notre Dame's that team.
So if they get back to their roots, you know,
power run game, lean on their offensive line to extend drives,
and then supplement the pass game with Carr, I think
that is a better plan against an Aggie's team who's

(01:35:20):
gonna be hungry, especially after get embarrassed in their home
against you last year. They're gonna try to embarrass you
on your turf this year, knowing that you got punched
in the mouth out the gates two weeks ago.

Speaker 6 (01:35:31):
Great point.

Speaker 5 (01:35:32):
The road revenge angle is always a very interesting angle.
And listen, I think I told you guys that I
think when we talked about some sleeper teams before the season,
like i'm, I'm, I think A and M is a
sleeper team in the SEC. I really think if Reid
hits that ceiling now, the defense hasn't really shown the
potential yet. I think Mike Elko is a really good coach,

(01:35:54):
especially a good defensive coach. They have a bye next
week and then they play Auburn, and then their.

Speaker 6 (01:35:59):
SEC schedule really gets going.

Speaker 5 (01:36:01):
Actually, the beginning part of the rest of C schedule
is pretty easy. Auburn, Mississippi State, Florida, Arkansas. Then it's LSU, Missouri,
South Carolina, and then Texas. But I think this is
a very like this game matters definitely more to Notre
Dame than it does A and M. Like this is
a show me game for Notre Dames defensive line. It
feels kind of like a rock fight. It feels kind

(01:36:21):
of like both teams are gonna try to smash it
down each other's throats and we'll see who blinks first.

Speaker 6 (01:36:28):
I like this Notre Dame defense a lot.

Speaker 5 (01:36:30):
I think that's the part of the Miami game that
gets overlooked.

Speaker 6 (01:36:33):
Miami's legit.

Speaker 5 (01:36:34):
People like, don't look at that Notre Dame Miami game
and see how good Miami was offensively and downgrade Notre
Dames defense because of it. I think you might see
it too after they drop fifty today on USF. I
think this Miami offense is legit, so Notre Dame's defense
after a week off coming back against an A and

(01:36:54):
M offense that is relatively one dimensional. I think they're
going to least set the tone of this game and
we'll see if A and M can adjust. But then
on Notre Dame's offensive side again, like I don't know
how much they trust EJ.

Speaker 6 (01:37:07):
Carr and if it's price and love just smashing it
into the line.

Speaker 5 (01:37:10):
Of scrimmage like kind of under fifty, kind of might
feel like the best bet here.

Speaker 4 (01:37:15):
Hey, I can buy it. I smell what you're cooking
over there for sure. And Mike Elko, by the way,
former Notre Dame defensive coordinator.

Speaker 6 (01:37:25):
That is a fun nugget.

Speaker 5 (01:37:26):
Yeah, is that why they scheduled this home and home
because you don't see A and M in Notre Dame
playing home and Holmes too often.

Speaker 1 (01:37:31):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:37:32):
Yeah, I really don't know why they scheduled it, but yeah,
maybe it has something to do with it.

Speaker 2 (01:37:36):
I'm not sure.

Speaker 4 (01:37:38):
Yeah, yeah, a little odd right there, but yeah, twenty seventeen,
one year at A at Notre Dame for Mike Elko,
but then he went to A and M as the DC.
Then Duke is the head coach. Now A and M
is the head coach.

Speaker 6 (01:37:49):
Duke is really where he cut his tea. I mean
he was really good at Duke.

Speaker 7 (01:37:52):
He really Also because like you think about from the
standpoint of if you're an athletic director, what conferences our
new coordinator coming from or coach coming from. You know,
you start you start scouting, you know, teams that they
might be more comfortable facing off again, so especially if
it's a former team. But then you know throw into

(01:38:15):
the mix, like just teams that you're you're you have
an easier time strategizing for those are typically teams like
for example, like all games for San Diego State, you
have a coach who comes from the MAC as a
head coach in Kent State before he went to Colorado
as a coordinator. A lot of the games for San
Diego State out of conference have been scheduled with the

(01:38:37):
MAC recently, you know, and so there's a little more
familiarity there, and uh and I think it it kind
of it kind of helps booie your program's chances for
success if you give opponents who are used to seeing
on film.

Speaker 4 (01:38:52):
All right, we got rich Oronberger, Penn State, All American

(01:39:16):
of the season for this team was great? Or was
it just good? And what does it have to do
with today? We'll get into all of that. It is

get off the air. All right, we've got Florida at
number three. LSU really nice win for LSU at the

(01:39:59):
beginning of season. Great win or was it just good?
You know, like, look at the opponent Clemson. Man, what's
up with Clemson this year? They've had some injuries, their
offense has been shoddy, shoddy offense from that Clemson Tigers
bunch over there. So LSU their offense really really iffy
against a much lesser opponent last week, and so it's

(01:40:22):
a sneaky spot. I feel like Florida coming off an
embarrassing home loss against South Florida. We're down on Florida
Florida here, but normally this matchup is pretty tight. Florida
gets a couple of dudes back, they get a big
defensive lineman coming back, you know, rush End, and I
could see Florida keeping this respectable. I think Florida's you know,

(01:40:43):
game depending on Lagway. If he could hit his stride,
you know, Lagway's just it's like he's not completely healthy
based on last year's injury. If you could get Lagway
playing up to his potential, and if they respond after
an embarrassing loss, I think LSU could be in for
a fight tonight.

Speaker 2 (01:41:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:41:02):
Look, I know talk is cheap, but Lagway has come
out publicly now and talked about how he wants to
fix all of the early season problems and USF gives
a lot of substantial football programs, big time belly eggs.
They've been doing it for years now, so this is
commonplace in college football. And even though that's a loss,

(01:41:27):
and Florida has faced a lot of criticism in their loss,
they have a quality football team. Like I think, we
get a little too caught up in records sometimes early
in the season instead of substance. And this is a
good defense and there are definite weapons along that offense.
So I wouldn't look at Florida in the vacuum of

(01:41:51):
early season issues and say, hey, they are fulfilling their destiny,
because I would say so far to date, Florida has
woefully underplayed their roster. I think they're due to have
a much better season than what they've showed so far.
So I agree with you. I think LSU is gonna
have all they can handle today.

Speaker 5 (01:42:12):
Weird line doesn't make any sense. Like you're right, Brian,
I think you have to look at that LSU win
over Clemson through the lens of how Clemson has played since,
which was a very sloppy game against Troy last week,
and the number this week against Georgia Tech is now

(01:42:33):
steaming down considerably. I mean, you can I saw a
minus two and a half on Clemson against Georgia Tech,
right like, so there's a little bit of oh my god,
were we wrong about Clemson? And if we were wrong
about Clemson, then that win for LSU over Clemson all
of a sudden doesn't look as strong. It kind of

(01:42:54):
actually reminds me of the Tennessee win over Syracuse after
what Syracuse did last week with Yukon playing with their
food and you know, fran Brown's got him running wind
sprints after the game, Like, all of a sudden, you're like, oh,
they gave up four touchdowns to Syracuse. How good is
this Tennessee defense? So you do kind of play this

(01:43:16):
transitive property of football. What I'll say about Florida is
they do have a.

Speaker 6 (01:43:21):
Strength of this team.

Speaker 5 (01:43:22):
It's the run, game, ball and Jackson, two really good backs. Lagway,
he looks like a player who You're right, I do
think injuries are a problem. But the bigger problem the
injuries have forced him to miss practice. And Rich I
know you can allude to this. A young quarterback with
all the talent in the world injured all the time,

(01:43:43):
doesn't practice all of a sudden, starts relying on that
talent a little bit too much and doesn't play within
the structure of the offense because he hasn't practiced within
the structure of the offense because he's injured. So that's
the issue I see with Florida. It's elite talent, not
a lot of continuity. But if the stars align and

(01:44:05):
all of a sudden it clicks, Florida could go in
the death ballot as we could win this game.

Speaker 6 (01:44:11):
I mean, they beat.

Speaker 5 (01:44:12):
LSU last year, and I thought last year's LSU team
was pretty darn good and Florida's team last year. Lagway
was much more inexperienced.

Speaker 6 (01:44:19):
He played really well in this game last year against
that LSU defense.

Speaker 5 (01:44:23):
So the X factor here is definitely Lagway's ceiling being
very high and the floor being very low. I think
LSU on the surface, their offense looks good, but one
hundredth and points per game minus two turnover margin? Can
they take care of the football? Very tough to predict turnovers,
and that is also what makes this game very difficult

(01:44:43):
to try to prognosticate.

Speaker 4 (01:44:45):
Man, I'll tell you what Florida's schedule, it just got
real getting into conference play and they also listen to this.
It starts tonight at LSU that's the number three ranked team.
Then they're at number five Miami obviously a non conference game.
Then they host number seven Texas, and then they're at
number sixteen Texas A and M those are the next

(01:45:05):
flourid games. Then they can breathe for a second against
Mississippi State, and then they're hosting number six Georgia. That's
freaking bruce for their next five games. That's a gauntlet
right there for Florida, so really bad. If I could
turn back time, right like, they really need that win
against South Florida right like, looking at that schedule is

(01:45:26):
rough and we've already gotten Oh brace yourself. We know
Billy Napier is on the hot seat right there. It's
the Florida head coach. There are new hot off the
presses John Gruden rumors. Ah yes, uh John Gruden maybe
the next head coach of Florida or Alabama. Love the
Gruden rumors there. But a big spot for Florida man

(01:45:49):
Caleb Banks is the d lineman they get back. That's
a big deal. And also LSU's center, who's a stud
is banged up. It took a knee. It took an
ankle injury last week, got rolled up on.

Speaker 6 (01:46:00):
It's the worst he's gonna play.

Speaker 5 (01:46:01):
It was probable in the latest injury report, but yes,
probably less than a hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (01:46:05):
Yeah, like, there's no way that guys one hundred percent.
But I feel like a little piece of your heart
just dies. Rich It's a former O ligneman seeing an
O Lignement get rolled up like that. It's the worst.
It's terrible.

Speaker 7 (01:46:15):
Yeah, it's the worst, and especially early in the season,
because these guys are tough minded, you know, and basically
professional athletes now, you know, so not only are you
out there trying to fight for your team, you're trying
to earn a paycheck, especially if you're an offensive lineman.
You know, some of these contracts in the NIL world
are structured per game, so you know, I mean, guys

(01:46:37):
are already thinking about their future and whether it be
an NFL future or transitioning out of college football and
just trying to earn as much money as you possibly
can while you are a paid athlete. He's going to
try to be out there and get this thing out,
and good on him. Branley Moore is a tough guy
and he anchors that offensive line, but there's gonna be
weakness there.

Speaker 2 (01:46:57):
You know.

Speaker 7 (01:46:57):
And if I see on the scouting report, and I'm
a defensive coordinator that a center has a wobbly wheel,
I'm gonna try to get him soloed on our best
interior pass rusher, I'm going to try to get a
lot of push on the pocket, and I'm gonna try
to make it hard on Garrett Nussmyer, who also it
looks like lost his one of his favorite targets green

(01:47:19):
at tian Yeah, so that all of a sudden, you know,
you talk about Florida, who the teeth of their schedules
coming up, and they need a win, and that defense
is pretty good, and you know they're quarterbacks talking some
serious hype now about his team and about how he
wants to turn it around. If there's a place to
draw a line in the sand and say our season

(01:47:42):
starts now, it's in Death Valley. And so you're going
to face a lot if you're the Tigers tonight and expecting,
you know, a team to come in after a couple
of tough weeks and roll over for you.

Speaker 2 (01:47:55):
It isn't happening. And then you look at LSU.

Speaker 7 (01:47:59):
They scheduled cupcake FCS team here next week and then
they go into Old Miss. So I'm not saying they're
looking ahead in any way, shape or form, but like
you know, there's there.

Speaker 2 (01:48:12):
This could be a gotcha spot for.

Speaker 7 (01:48:14):
LSU and they really shouldn't let down because I'm telling you,
and I'm not telling you guys anything. I think we're
all saying the same thing. Florida is better than a
lot of people.

Speaker 3 (01:48:24):
Know.

Speaker 5 (01:48:25):
The market's telling you that. Again, when I get into
these situations where I'm uncertain on a game and I
don't really have a good feel, I let the market
kind of tell me where I should be looking. And again,
LSU Night Game Death Valley, I'm willing to bet. Of
all the home field advantages in college football, that's probably

(01:48:47):
the strongest in terms of how much the point spread
will adjust, Like it's a solid three.

Speaker 6 (01:48:51):
If not, it's more than that.

Speaker 5 (01:48:53):
And you're telling me that LSU is not even laying
a full touchdown in this game with that home field
advantage against Florida, who just lost to USF. Like, what
is the market trying to tell you here?

Speaker 6 (01:49:07):
People? It's trying to.

Speaker 5 (01:49:08):
Tell you that we love Brian Kelly, but this feels
like one of those old gotcha games where he finally
got the monkey off his back winning an opener, and
then he sleepwalks through Louisiana Tech. Nice cover for latech
last week in a very sandwichy game, and now you
get Florida licking their wounds. It should be a layup.

(01:49:34):
Billy Napier has got one foot out the door. Every
single person, including my mom, was a big Florida Gators fan.
She's not really involved in it, but all my friends
you know down there in Florida are all you know.

Speaker 4 (01:49:46):
Waiting itching to fire Billy Napier.

Speaker 5 (01:49:49):
Wouldn't it be something if he goes into Death Valley
on a Saturday night and knocks off the Tigers, like
based on what we know about the unpredictability of college football,
wouldn't that be just a little check mark in the Yeah,
we should have saw that one coming department, because it
just it feels like this number is screaming us to

(01:50:10):
bet LSU.

Speaker 6 (01:50:11):
But I'm not biting. I am not taking the bait.

Speaker 4 (01:50:13):
Well, let's shift it to another one real fast.

Speaker 6 (01:50:15):
Here.

Speaker 4 (01:50:15):
We got Clemson at Georgia Tech and some of what
you're explaining with the last game applies to Clemson where
it's like, based on what we thought of this team
heading into the season where we thought they would beat
they're not there. Like Clemson loses the home opener. They
have not been impressive at all, Caid Klubnick. That offense
is not firing whatsoever. He's not using his legs. His

(01:50:39):
rushing prop is twenty four and a half today, like
kid Klubnick was, you know, consistently going over that or
at least the rushing prop bet was higher than that.
It's just't done much and they've got some injuries on
top of it. Like this is a banged up Clemson
team and they're only three point favorites on the road

(01:51:00):
against Georgia Tech. And that's I'll tell you what, man,
Tech is a tough team to get right on right,
like Clemson trying to get right and against Georgia Tech,
that is tough.

Speaker 2 (01:51:11):
Man.

Speaker 4 (01:51:11):
It is an all day affair and you gotta tackle, well,
you got to try to limit Haines King, who's back.
He's not one hundred percent, but he's good enough to
go as the Georgia Tech quarterback. But man, it's one
of those sneaky spots where we're down on Clemson, and
maybe this is where it turns, or maybe it's more
of what we've seen and they are just not what

(01:51:32):
they thought there. They are who we They're not who
we thought they were. Right, the opposite of the famous
quote right there, What do you think about Clemson Georgia
Tech Rich.

Speaker 7 (01:51:43):
Well, I don't love their offense without Jay Haynes, and
so we'll see how ready is for contact coming back
from this injury. Obviously, the loss against LSU and just
the fact that they looked so inept running the football.

Speaker 2 (01:51:59):
There was no oh answer to that problem.

Speaker 7 (01:52:01):
They got stuffed eighteen times in that game just at
the line of scrimmage or lost yards on rushes. Between
that game and Troy, there wasn't like this revolutionary leap
in how effective the run game. We're talking about maybe
adding a yard and a half per carrying production. That's
up from sub three yards per carry against LSU and

(01:52:22):
their opener. So not a good start offensively for this
rushing attack. And so we'll see how it looks with Haines.
But yeah, like rewind the clock to a month ago,
what everybody thought and felt of Clemson versus now.

Speaker 2 (01:52:38):
It's amazing how much can change in two and a
half weeks.

Speaker 7 (01:52:41):
It feels like, you know, for the first time, everybody's
looking from the sidewalk and saying, oh, the Emperor on parade,
he has no clothes, like that was all. That was
all just what we were being told. And you know,
I guess we can still pretend because they wear the
orange helmets with the white paw prints on. But I
don't really want to pretend anymore. I'm going to I'm

(01:53:04):
going into this game against Georgia Tech with a heaping
helping of skepticism that this is going to be some
rollover matchup for Clemson. I think they're in for a dogfight.
I think this is a four quarter game for Clemson.

Speaker 6 (01:53:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:53:20):
I took Tech plus three and a half earlier in
the week. It was bet down considerably. The first question
mark I had on this game was what is club nick?
And the offense look like the old line's been bad.
But man, I'll be honest, Let's say Haines King is
a little bit banged up and he can only go
a quarter or a half. The backup quarterback Aaron fil
last week through for three seventy eight. I know it
was against Gardner Webb, but they were torching Gardner Webb.

(01:53:44):
And I love Buster Faulkner. We've talked about Falkner on
this show. The offensive coordinator for Georgia Tech got a big,
fat extension in the offseason, which to me means he's
probably got a lot of head coaching looks and he's
probably going to be one of the next big head
coaching hires. Maybe not next year, but maybe in two years.
But his passing concepts, if it is Filo, like if

(01:54:05):
we get King and he's a little banged up and
they go to fight, like if he's ineffective and they
go to Filo, like maybe this is a live betting
game where Clemson starts fast and then maybe they bring
in Filo later and they can throw it around. Because
I love Buster Fuckner. He's a He is an absolute
rock star as a as a play caller. The key
here is Brent Key, the head coach.

Speaker 2 (01:54:23):
Really good in this.

Speaker 6 (01:54:24):
Spot as a feisty dog. Eleven and four against the.

Speaker 5 (01:54:27):
Spread as a dog verse top fifteen teams, pretty darn good,
seven outright wins. Now here's the problem. The average line
in those games. The average spread was thirteen and a
half now it's three. In fact, it's trending towards two
and a half, so you're not getting that cushion of
points when you're betting on Brent Key as a dog,
as you typically do. But I agree with Rich. I

(01:54:49):
think this is a dogfight game. The totals kind of
hovering in the low fifties. It feels like a defensive
slug fest. And I think if Haynes King's healthy, run
the ball short in the game, keep that d fence
fresh for the fourth quarter because Clemson's gonna come out.

Speaker 6 (01:55:03):
With their hair on fire.

Speaker 4 (01:55:04):
All right, We've got Rich Hornberger, Penn State All American,
Jeered Smith FSR betting analyst. I'm Brian No coming up next.
Rapid Fire, which I think we should rename the four
minute offense. It's not as much rapid fire as it is.

Speaker 2 (01:55:20):
We're just trying to milk the rest of the clock.

Speaker 4 (01:55:22):
Yeah, it's a little bit more of a slower attack
if you a little more methodical, But we have a
bushel of picks. Nonetheless, we'll get to right around the corner.

Rapid fire.

Speaker 4 (01:57:13):
All right, Jared, we start with you. What do you like?

Speaker 5 (01:57:15):
Bama minus nineteen and a half against Wisconsin. This number
keeps teaming down in other spots, but it's nineteen and
a half at bet MGM.

Speaker 6 (01:57:22):
So last week was the bounce back game. Today's the statement.

Speaker 5 (01:57:25):
I think Wisconsin's offense is compromised with Danny O'Neal at quarterback.
I think Bama gets a big win if they can
run it up. They need style points.

Speaker 6 (01:57:32):
I think they will win with margin.

Speaker 5 (01:57:35):
I'll take Miami minus seventeen and a half against USF.
The Bulls are the Cinderella story in college football right now.
They're kind of this year's Indiana. But the Canes offensive
line bigger, faster, stronger than Florida, and the Gators ran
it all over the Bulls last week. It was Napier
and Lagway and really let Florida down in the big spot.
I think Carson Beck Shannon Dawson pushed the right buttons.
I think Miami gets a big win, and Georgia minus
three and a half against Tennessee, you're getting a discount

(01:57:57):
on the dogs. Kirby Smart owns Josh four and h
against the spread. I think Georgia goes into Knoxville gets
a big win.

Speaker 7 (01:58:05):
All right, Live from State College where my nitny Lions
will take on Villanova and the two thousand and five
Big Ten champs will be honored at halftime. I give
you my picks, and I ride with Jarard Majestic with
Alabama seventeen excuse me, nineteen and a half point favorites.
I think the board needs a huge win. I think
they get it today. Olmos better be careful because Arkansas

(01:58:28):
is going to be right there with them this whole game.
Plus six and a half for the Razorbacks.

Speaker 2 (01:58:34):
I like it. I know it feels a little thin.
This is going to be a close one.

Speaker 7 (01:58:38):
And then Florida they're getting seven points on the road
facing LSU, another dogfight, another four quarter game. In my opinion,
give me the Gators getting seven point handed to him
going to death Valley.

Speaker 4 (01:58:52):
Look at you, guys, quick on the draw.

Speaker 6 (01:58:54):
Yeah, let's go coachable. We're coachable.

Speaker 4 (01:58:56):
I like that, all right, I'll give you a couple
of picks. I actually hate right, man.

Speaker 6 (01:59:02):
It's sometimes a good side together what we're supposed to do.

Speaker 4 (01:59:05):
Bro, I'm with you, Rich. I'm on Florida plus seven
at LSU. LSU's offense not firing on all cylinders. Embarrassing
loss for the Gators. It's normally a close matchup here
in this rivalry, so I'll I'll take the points. This
is the stinkiest line of the week. It's Vanderbilt plus
three at South Carolina. South Carolina's ranked, They've got the

(01:59:26):
Heisman contending quarterback. They're favored by three.

Speaker 2 (01:59:29):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (01:59:30):
I'll take Vandy plus three. It's the stinkiest line of
the week. And I'll go CJ. Concepcion, the Texas A
and M wide receiver. I'll take over forty four and
a half receiving yards. That's where Notre Dame's defense is
vulnerable over the middle, and so I think he eats.
But go Irish hope they went
