Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio eleven the dream
once again here on a fully loaded NFL Sunday. This
is end Zone Radio. We're in the Fox Sports Radio studios.
Eight games about to kick off. Bears at Bengals, Vikings
at Lions, Panthers at Packers, Chargers at the Titans, Falcons
(00:24):
at the Patriots, forty nine Ers at the Giants, Colts
at the Steelers, and the Broncos at the Texans. And
believe it or not, we are officially at the halfway
point of this NFL regular sees. That's right, Week nine,
Week nine around the NFL. By the way, A VJ
is in root because well in Los Angeles. After the
(00:47):
Dodgers miracle victory in Game seven of the World Series,
all hell's broken loops.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Okay, all hell is breaking loose here in LA.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
Whether you are a Dodgers fan, of Blue Jays fan,
a baseball fan.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
I said this yesterday.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
I sat in with Carmen yesterday on her show, and
when she has like the dues and don'ts and I
go do believe that the nature of the game of
baseball is so unique that it creates moments that live
on forever. One pitch, one hit, one play in the field,
and it just seared in your memory.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
And that was.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Before yesterday's game, and then we had one of those
Game sevens that will go down in history. Bo Benson,
of course, our resident diehard Dodger fan, never in doubt right,
Bo about that game last night.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
Not for a single moment. I was not shaking in
my boots knowing that vlad Guerrero Junior was going to
get multiple chances to hit a walk off. Yeah, it
was no shaking faith.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
It was a remarkable night.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
The much belieguer Dave Roberts and when anything goes bad
for the Dodgers, Dave Roberts, I mean, I was reading
social media after games four and five where the Dodgers
just ate it badly, and both of those games get
rid of this guy. The faster you get rid of
this guy, and it gets down to a game seven.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
By the way, in win or die games.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
As a manager of the Dodgers, he's seven and two, Okay,
seven and two, that along with three championships, he's already
got a ticket for the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
But every single move he made in that game was
the right move.
Speaker 4 (02:24):
I hate to interrupt you guys, but we already have
a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
What happened there?
Speaker 4 (02:28):
Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Cincinnati Bengals returned to kick off for Wow, I was
gonna say, is a Chase Brown?
Speaker 3 (02:35):
So the Bears?
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Yeah, the Jones there ninety nine yards for the touchdown.
Bengals take the early six to nothing lead in this game.
So anyway, VJ will be here in a moment, get
his thoughts on what's happening around the National Football League.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Yes, Monsei, it was nuts.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I just can't I can't believe it. Like we were
texting each other, I was like, I can't believe the
Dodgers just won.
Speaker 5 (02:56):
Because if you were watching the game and when it
was when the Blue Jays were up, if you didn't
know the score, you were just like, everything has gone
Toronto's way. Vladimirer, Gerirero Junr is playing defense out of
his mind. That decision where he didn't step on the
back throw, Oh my goodness, everything was.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Going their way.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
Bashow with the incredible catch in the outface diving catch.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Is that one? That's it? The running the bases.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
Literally, and then I also felt like for most of
the game it looked like the Dodgers looked a little tense.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
Well, the Blue Jays were smiling and like having a
good time, and I was like, I this this is
getting further and further away. And then the unk comes
in and.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
You know what, MIGGI Rojas again, this is a guy
who hadn't played at all. And finally, you know, Dave
Roberts gave up on Andy Pas and he tells Rojas,
I'm gonna put you in. He had to put Edmond
and center, who has been hurt can't really play the outfit.
That's why they hadn't made the move earlier. And then
the late game substitution Evan does not get them ball
(04:04):
pot has does. So everything went right for the Dodgers.
And again, if you're just a I don't know, like
a little bit of a baseball fan, that's why baseball
is so different and so special.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Is games like that.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
I'm sorry, in football and basketball, they all have great moments,
but there is something about the nature of the game
of baseball that lends itself potentially to the kind of
game that we saw last night. One for the ages, Yamamota,
forget it, forget it, ninety six pitches the day before
did you see him at the end. He could barely
(04:41):
hold up the World Series trophy, his arms were dead.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
But it was like, I didn't expect to see him. Bo,
did you expect to see Almoono?
Speaker 4 (04:49):
I thought for an inning at most a better.
Speaker 5 (04:52):
At moments, especially because in the eighteenth inning game where
he went to warm up, and after the game he said,
I went to the bullpens to help, but I couldn't
get loose.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
No, So it was like, oh, you got loose. But
the next day I.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Comes in for Snell and he hits.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Immediately yes, yes, uh huh, and so now.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
No wiggle room at all.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
They get the incredible play at the plate for the
four I mean, beloved, unreal two.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Thirds of innings, crazy three wins for him. So here
in La uh, it's it's been a party, to say
the least. And and I think Dodger fans collectively, uh,
we're in a state of shock, Like this was like, okay,
that did what just happened?
Speaker 5 (05:35):
Everybody that's here right now aside from you, yeah, we're
all wearing Dodger gear.
Speaker 2 (05:40):
Well I was talking Dodgers all night long.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
Guys. I you know I do local TV here in
La and I ran the same highlight package over over,
over and over and over again. I repeated it so
many times last night, and I still got goosebumps every
time I did it. I kept repeating the same highlights,
I'd say, did that actually happen?
Speaker 3 (05:59):
So crazy time here?
Speaker 1 (06:01):
All right, So guys, here we are Week nine in
the National Football League, and this is this is the
unfortunate part of football season. Like we get so anxious
for it. And I know for the majority of people
out there, your whole year really revolves around football. Like yeah, yeah,
I watch basketball, I watch baseball, you know, I watch
some other sports. But it's just like when it's the
(06:22):
football season going to begin, and then we're dragged through
that preseason, it's like, oh, you know, just can we
get the real game started. And the problem with the
NFL is once the season starts, man, it just goes
like that.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
It really does.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
And we are already at week nine.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
I'm looking at the standings right now in the NFL.
Touchdown Lions Lions Laporta just got into the ends off.
So the Lions take the early seven to nothing league.
By the way, the big story here against the Viking.
JJ McCarthy is back at quarterback for the Vikings today.
Is that one hundred percent?
Speaker 2 (06:56):
I believe?
Speaker 1 (06:57):
So what is happening now?
Speaker 6 (06:59):
Oh I'm sorry.
Speaker 7 (06:59):
I just want to say the first two touchdowns scored
in the NFL were both former Hawkeyes Chuck Sizzle Charlie.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
Jones and Iowa Sam is on the board today.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Boiler Makers, don't go drink.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Iowa Sam comes in all right. So way through the
parties that shut down half the freeways. Uh, this is
why I'm always here, Like two hours early even I
was like later the normal h VJ. Husky is now
settling in as it was a late night of celebration
for the people in Los Angeles that the Dodgers won
(07:32):
the World Series. So yes, I saw that too, but
that was like an hour ago. It was everything was
shut down on the way to me. They do this
on Sunday, you kid know they don't.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
So you can't get it.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
You can't get in on the four or five for
your ways. You gotta go all the way past that.
Speaker 7 (07:48):
The plan, the rewaving thing they're doing like every other Sunday.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Every other Sunday they shut down the three.
Speaker 7 (07:55):
They always shut down three scheduled for like every third
Sunday for like five month.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
And by the way, they don't have to shut down
three lanes on the right, they just do to make
it really annoying. So all right, we got these games
going on right now. Really just to update YOUVJ. Two
scores already. Bengals up seven to nothing on a kickoff
return for a touchdown, but pot had just got in
the end zone. Lions early seven to nothing lead against
I'm gonna say your Vikings today because the report is
(08:22):
JJ McCarthy is finally going to be back at quarterback.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
By the way, the Giants are driving him touchdown.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Giants take the early six to nothing lead against the
forty nine Ers. Jackson Dart a touchdown pass the Johnson
so six nothing Giants lead the forty nine Ers Colts
Steelers the game we're gonna be talking plenty about right now.
And the Colts are on the move again right down
the field. They are in the red zone.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Of the Steelers right off the bat.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Daniel Jones three of four to sixty four yards passing
on this opening drive. And here we are, VJ. It's
hard to believe that we are at now the halfway
point of the season. Week nine and the top two seeds.
Can you imagine the odds you could have gotten on
this before the season? Going into week nine, the top
two seeds in the A f C are the Colts
(09:12):
and the Patriots. Colts and Patriot and made yourself a
lot of how are you man? The big night last night?
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Yeah, huge night last night, my brother you and I Yeah,
so texting back and forth and watching you live covering
the game myself, man, And it's.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Just I was doing the same highlight package.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
Over over also to man, new suit. I see you
play it.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
You like that?
Speaker 3 (09:38):
I saw you. You went with it. You went with the.
Speaker 6 (09:40):
With the smoke in the fusia.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
You like the smoke. Great, TI, I'm an old guy.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Man, It's not great. It was smoked. You Do you
notice that my suits fit?
Speaker 3 (09:53):
Hey, listen, I was gonna tell you also to love
the crease. Thanks, love the crease and the slacks. You
know that standing straight up his chin up like like
they taught me in the military when I was in
the army. You were looking good, brother, No, thank you.
It was a joy the door to see.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
Well, it was I I honestly, as I was saying
at the top, I kept doing the same highlight package
over and over, uh for the next you know, two hours,
and literally I was getting goosebumps. I was getting goose bumps. Well,
you know, watching MIGGI hits that game time home run
out of absolutely nowhere. My broadcast partner, or David Pingle,
or ping was out there. He said he was in
(10:29):
an auxiliary booth for the seventh, eighth, and ninth inning.
He goes ninth inning, you know, the Rogers Center just
rocking like you can't even hear yourself think.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
And then Rojas hits a homer.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
The place went collectively silent, like what just happened? It's
one thing of Otani hits a home run to diet
he was on deck. You're thinking, if you're a Dodger fan,
hey ROAs, just get on base, man, just.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Get on base.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
And there's something he says, No, I'll just take care
of it myself.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
And I've been saying this and yeah, I'm gonna take
a nice, big victory that big ass Viader laf all
day long. And I've been saying all summer long that
the Dodgers were repeating. When people wanted to throw the
Brewers at me, I said, you don't stop it. Don't
talk to me about Milwaukee the Padres. Stop it. Don't
talk to me about about the San Diego Padres. You
know what this team reminded me of. It reminded I
said this over the summertime and especially into the playoffs.
(11:19):
You know why that ninety nine, ninety eight and two
thousand Yankees team was so great. It's because you got
one megastar right and Jeter okay, and then you got
just a bunch of what they call in baseball dirt
bag exactly brocious. Bernie Williams, you're bringing Mike Paul O'Neill,
(11:40):
but you know, a bleeping boom like you and you,
and you have Shane Spence Spencer as a young guy
against the Braves.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
And a Waino Martinez. You don't know where it's coming from.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
And I tell you this, man, Joe Davis did such
a great job because I like to hear the call,
like when the championship ends, I want to hear what
he said. And he said, you know, grounded the bets
Bets touches the bag and when he throws it the
first he says, if you want to beat the champs,
you gotta knock him out. And Toronto had every opportunity
(12:14):
to knock this team out, but also really fast. Roberts
pushed every everybody right.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
It was crazy and this is why Ago they wanted
to slay him. After those back to back losses that
Dodger Stadium, social media was blowing up.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Fire him right now. It's it's it's it's just I
hate analytics.
Speaker 6 (12:34):
And this is why you put the tape on.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
You know, your team Rojas, like you said, you're bringing
me hell and you put him at the ninth hole.
He's really out there for his glove. But what does
he do though he's the most unlikely hole run winner
for you last night, and who hits the whole run?
And then Will Smith was struggling, he's in a mids
serious slump. And then Will just blast one and I go,
I go, right that, I said, that's game sets match.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
You mentioned Joe Davis and obviously he also does Dodgers baseball.
But when Rojas hit the home run, he's like, you
gotta be kidding, right, you.
Speaker 3 (13:08):
Gotta be kidding me, you gotta be kidding me. You
know baseball. I know he's out there for his glove
and he makes the play second base and the guy
is falling back.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Guy is absolutely loved. He's a veteran.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
He speaks English and Spanish, so he's sort of that
ling you guy.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
He's the LA guy.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
He's an LA guy guy. He brings that clubhouse together
for him to have that play. By the way, the
Chargers just had Herbert picked off and the Titans have
taken a seven nothing lead against the Chargers, just like that.
So the Titans coming in at one in seven, arguably
(13:45):
not arguably, they are the worst team in the end.
I was listening the morning, the guys, they said, what's worse?
He is nothing like it. Twenty four yard pick six
by Cody Barton has given the Titans an early seven
to nothing lead over the Chargers. All right, well it's
getting started. Eight games around the NFL. We got a
full house. We got every angle cover from the scores,
(14:06):
the stats, the analysis.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Say back the other way to DJ Moore.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Toss right up, great Cunner of the end zone.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Touchdown, Caleb Williams touchdown Bears. That's the Bears Radio Network.
Bears and Bengals tied at seven. I'll tell you what,
we got a lot of scoring early on with these
eight games around the NFL. This is end Zone Radio.

Crazy start to this Sunday. Bears Bengals tied at seven,
Vikings Lions tied at seven, no score, Panthers, Packers, Chargers
(15:52):
that come back to score tied up their game with
the Titans. Patriots lead of the Falcons seven to nothing,
forty nine Ers and Giants are did seven. Colts lead
the Steelers seven to nothing. Broncos and Texans no score.
So here we are at that halfway point of the
season VJ and all of a sudden, at least so
far on this Sunday, the offenses are in full throttle.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Well, last week we talked about the defenses, right, because
the offenses normally and this is how the NFL is
and this was so cool about the NFL. You get
it in, you get it in different flows. Right, first
three or four weeks, offenses are ahead of defenses because
you don't hit a lot in training camp, you're not physical.
You get defensive guys get banged up, get held out
more than offensive guys starting the year. Then the offenses
(16:35):
kind of kick in, and the offense is kind of
excuse me, the defenses kick in. And we saw two
weeks ago how the Broncos got shut down against the
Jets overseas, how the Bills got shut down, how the
lines got shut down against good defenses. And I think
we'll see a little bit of that today. But now
we're seeing more offenses starting to flow a little more open.
I'll say it is. This Broncos Texas game has my
(16:57):
interest because Texas are a team that people have kind
of written off.
Speaker 6 (17:01):
But the Broncos are this team that people.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Are all in on. But if we blink and look up,
Texas are three and four. If you win this game,
you get the four to four. Broncos got a couple
of last second wins against some some undermin tight teams.
I'm not sure if they're truly a five and two team.
I know your record is six and two, six and two,
excuse me what you say it is, But at the
end of the day, how sustainable is it? And even
if you do get to the playoffs, like I could
(17:23):
see them going home in a wild card, are going
home in.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Well, it's always tough on the road.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
That's for sure. In fact, the Broncos just had a
field goal blocked, and so the Texans now have the
ball down at the Denver twelve yard line and CJ
stro trying to get there this year. Yeah, well we've
seen a lot of block field goals. They don't have
any field goals so far today. How about that we
have touchdowns, touchdowns, touchdowns, teams getting into the end zone.
So you have eight teams right now in the AFC
(17:49):
with a winning record. You have eight teams in the
NFC with a winning record. And this is sort of
that time of the year where if you're sitting there
at four and three, four and four, you know, three
and five, you know, this is where you got to
start making a move to get yourself into a playoff position.
And look, no one's really trusting obviously the Colts at
seven to one, the Patriots in six and two are
(18:11):
gonna still be standing atop the AFC standings. But the
way the Colts are playing offensively, I don't doubt them.
And the thing about the Colts, and right now, the
Steelers have a third and three at the Colts four
yard line. So Aaron Rodgers in company trying to get
the ball into the end zone and tie this game up.
Let's keep an eye on this game right now. So
(18:32):
third and three at the four yard line, they can
get a first down if they don't get into the
end zone and Aaron Rodgers is gonna make a little
quick toss over the middle and it is knocked away.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
So that's the thing about this Colts team is that
offensively they're juggernaut Shane Stikeen, Daniel Jones, Jonathan Taylor, that
great offensive line, they got things rolling. Their secondary is
not great by any stretch the imagination, and that's that's
going to be the big question for me from the
Colt standpoint. I know they can score on anybody, They've
(19:07):
proven that all year long. But can they stop teams,
especially in the crunch?
Speaker 6 (19:11):
Well, I think their defense is really good.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
I'm not sure you don't get the seven and one
with just an offense like you gotta have a defense
and you got to be able to stop people.
Speaker 6 (19:19):
I'm not really into what a team gives up point wise.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
By the way, Steelers going for it on four down
and it is incomplete.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Wow, is there any flag on that play? Not theree
no Flagg going that low don't bail them out with
that terrible play call.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Why are you going for it in the first quarter
with four minutes to go?
Speaker 3 (19:39):
Seven game play?
Speaker 6 (19:42):
Come on? No, it hits him in the stomach. He
just dropped it.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Yeah, he turned around late, so he didn't really see
it coming. Well, first of all, he wouldn't have gotten
in the end zone. A he might have gotten a
first down though it was right at the one yard line,
but he wasn't expecting that pass. Texans trying to get
into the end zone right now, take an early lead
against the Broncos and they get stopped. So that Broncos defense,
and that's a team that has a legitimate defense, Yes,
is the Denver Broncos. The inconsistency of bo Knicks is
(20:09):
certainly a concern, But defensively, they've been there. They got
second a goal right now. The Texans trying to get
in the end zone and they don't, they.
Speaker 6 (20:17):
Don't get in.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
I don't know, I don't The Broncos defense is good,
but they've given up points too. They've given up point
The Giants hung almost thirty on them. The Titans moved
the ball on them. No, this defense is giving up points.
It's just I want to say this, Steve. We're at
the point of the year now where the next few weeks,
I just want to enjoy the NFL. We're gonna sit
here and talking. We're gonna come out all r O.
Speaker 1 (20:37):
By the way, why is this coming because his team,
the Dolphins, officially ended their season. They fired Why didn't
they fire McDaniel? You fire your GM and not the coach.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
I mean, if you guys want to go ahead and
play the sound that should already be here. While Vj's right,
who's been telling you, who's been sitting in this studio
and the only person at Fox Sports Radio who's been
telling you guys, they're not firing McDaniel.
Speaker 6 (20:57):
I trust my sources.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Can you fire your owner Steven Ross, who's been a
complete disaster since he took over twenty five years The
last time the Dolphins won a playoff game was still press.
Speaker 11 (21:08):
We know it.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
I don't know. I mean, you guys are gonna announce
it every Sunday because it's my team. I get it.
But but at the end of the day, I've been
telling you guys, there's.
Speaker 1 (21:15):
An NFL team that's we're talking about because they got
to make a decision on their future.
Speaker 3 (21:19):
No, we've never talked about a two and something team
more than we had the Dolphins. I get it because
VJ is sitting in the see I'm the stand all
of that. I get it, and it's fun.
Speaker 6 (21:25):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
But at the end of the day, also, uh, you
have another victory left. I've been telling you I trust
my sources, guys, and I've been I kept telling you.
I call him every week and ask them, don't make
me look stupid. Al radio bro, are they getting He
keeps telling me VJ. They're not firing him. Greer's probably
gonna go. As I said a month ago, Greer's probably
gonna go. And I can see Anthony Weaver being relieved
(21:49):
of his duties. He'll try to fund it as he's
gonna go take a coach at Johnson World's. His name
is popped up as far as the Tennessee tits is concern.
His name is popped up in the college ranks with
what is it? Eight power four eight hour four jobs
are open in college, including the school like Virginia Tech. Right,
so he I think he's gone to Mike McDaniel is
the coach of the Miami Dolphins. And any other coach
(22:10):
in this league tells you what a great coach he is,
a right great coaches.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
All right, Mark Schlareth is gonna be Johnny Us shortly.
Here get a preview of that Jags Raiders game. But
first let's find out what is trendy. Monsey very very
happy today.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Yeah, I mean it.
Speaker 5 (22:28):
Was stressful, and it was up and down, up and down,
you know, threw up a couple of times from it.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
But it's all good. It's all good.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
Back to back chimps bade Let's gosi.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
My wife cried like she literally was on my shoulder
sobbing for her Dodgers last night after the win. Like,
I'm congratulations to you. First of all, I like to
see my friends teams win. I'm not that type of
I don't hate like that congrat I know that happen
to go back to back. Yeah, back to back. You
were clearly the best team in the league. And it's
(22:59):
not even close. When you went back to back, it's
not close.
Speaker 5 (23:02):
Yeah, yeah, I mean they didn't look like that against
the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays looked like the better team,
but they've survived. They pulled it off after that eighteenth
inning game. It was all up in the air. College
football news, guys, Auburn has fired head coach Hugh Freeze.
They lost last night to Kentucky, falling four and five
to the season. He's gone six and sixteen in the
SEC over his three seasons there. So Auburn fired head
football coach Hugh Freese. A lot of scoring going going
(23:24):
on right now in the NFL. JJ McCarthy, I thought
they were hiding this man. He just threw a second
touchdown pass. So the Vikings are up on the lines
right now, fourteen to seven. Late in the first quarter,
Bengals have taken the lead with the field goal over
the Bears ten to seven.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Also late in the first Panthers and Packers are scoreless
and they're about to start the second quarter. I was like,
Packers haven't scored, they haven't scored. They're about to start
the second quarter. Chargers and Titans are tied at seven
a piece. Also less than five minutes to go in
that one.
Speaker 5 (23:51):
Patriots on the scoreboard first against the Falcons as Drake
May connected with Da Mario Douglass for a sixteen yard
touchdown pass.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
So it's seven zero, but.
Speaker 5 (23:57):
The Falcons are knocking on the door to score it's
first and goal with one minute to go in the
first quarter.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Forty nine.
Speaker 5 (24:03):
Ers and Giants are tied at seven. Mac Jones tied
the game, connecting with Christian McCaffrey at seven to seven
ninety seconds in the first quarter. There the Colts and
the Steelers, You guys just talked about that one going
for it on fourth and goal or fourth and score whatever.
The Colts muffed the punt and that's how the Steelers
got the ball back in the red zone and they
weren't able to get anything out of it. So the
Colts are still up seven to zero late in the
(24:23):
first and the Texans on the scoreboard first with the
field goal over the Broncos at home three zero, also
late in the first Back to you guys.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
Hi Monsie, thank you very very much.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
Once again, we are here in our Fox Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
We got some dynamic games going on right now.
Speaker 1 (24:39):
Coming up a little bit later on, the Jags are
on the road against the Raiders and join us right now.
Three time Super Bowl champion, the two time pro bowler,
the great Mark schlur is joining us once again. Mark,
We always love catching up with you. Look all I
have to admit to people that don't know this. Actually
everyone knows this. I worked for the organization back in
(25:01):
LA way back in the day, and Mark you know this.
This has not gone the way I thought it was
going to go. I thought with Pete Carroll coming in,
you know, with Gino Smith coming in, this was going
to be an upgrade for the Raiders, and it hasn't worked.
What's going on with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Speaker 11 (25:20):
Well, I think there's a couple of things, you know,
I think that. I think one is, you look at
let me step outside, because they're shamming music right now.
I Paul does. So I think number one, you look
at this organization injuries and their injury issues with Bowers,
who's going to be back today. Jacoby Myers missed last week.
(25:41):
Bowers is really the actuate of this offense. This guy
is one of the best tight ends in football, if
not the best tight end in football. So you've missed that.
There's been a lack of kind of continuity with the
receiving corps between Trey Tucker and Jacobe Meyer and Myers
and and you know and Gino Smith. So that's that's
been Shoe as well. Plus they've they've lost their starting
(26:04):
left tackle. They've got to backup and Foresyth at the
left tackle position. I think they've struggled on the inside
just from a protection standpoint. And then you got a
new coordinator in Ship Kelly, and I know he's been
an NFL guy before, but this is the collegiate type
of offense, or it's collegiate type of spread that you're
morphing into an NFL kind of existence. So offensively, that's
(26:28):
that's been the major struggle for them. You know, has
lacked some accuracy, but I think most of the accuracy
on the ten interceptions, eight of them been on deep balls,
and I think a lot of it is just miscommunication
between him and his receivers, and so there have been
a lot of those issues that they haven't ironed out.
They've got everybody back healthy today. Felt really good about
(26:49):
the bye week and there and the way they've practiced
and the way they've performed in practice. So we'll see.
I mean, you know, that's always one of those wishful
thinking type of things, but we'll see exactly how it looks.
I do have a feeling watching practice on Friday. It's
gonna look a lot better than it has the last
couple of weeks.
Speaker 6 (27:06):
Marsh lev VJ. Husky here, first time speaking to you.
Speaker 11 (27:08):
Man.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
Grew up in the DMV area, so I remember you
part of the Hogs blocking for those Skins backs man
in the day winning Super Bowl ring.
Speaker 6 (27:14):
So great to be talking to you.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
You're an old school guy, Mark, and we live in
this hyperbolic chamber of sports today where everybody wants to
fire everybody immediately when these don't go right.
Speaker 6 (27:24):
Pete Carro is in the seventies.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
He is an older guy, and everybody wants to go
with the younger wonder kid. Is there any way you
can see if this thing just goes awry this year,
that Pete Carroll could be out and they could be
moving on from Geno Smith? Or do you or do
you give a chance for this stuff to get worked out,
as you said, get some guys back as some pieces
and build and move forward.
Speaker 11 (27:45):
Yeah, I mean I think that you know this is
not college football. I mean the same inner murals like.
It takes a while. You just can't go out and
out athlete people in this league, So it takes a
while to get the right guys the guys who fit
what you want to do, and you can't do that
the entirety of that in one off season. Doesn't work
that way, right, So you have to build, you have
(28:06):
to do a great job of drafting. There's a lot
of things that you have to do to get this
thing going. I couldn't imagine I can't imagine them deciding
after you know, one season, Hey, Pete Carroll's not the answer.
And I do have a feeling that this team is
going to become more and more competitive as they get
healthy and they kind of find their way both offensively
and defensively. The other thing I think you have to
(28:27):
understand Patrick Graham is a really good coordinator, I mean
really good, but he's morphing and mixing what Pete Carroll
likes to do with what he likes to do. And
so there is say Pete Carroll like, we're running my defense.
So you you know, you, Patrick Graham are going to
have to adjust to what I like to do. So
(28:47):
this is some growing pains from a coverage standpoint, from
an underneach standpoint, that they have to that they have
to be able to work together on that as well.
And you know, Graham's a much more diverse kind of
quot coordinator than Pete. You know, then Pete likes to
run the defensive side on the defensive side, so there
is kind of getting to know you situations there as well.
(29:08):
So those are all things that are going down right now,
and it takes time, and I happen to feel like
coming out of this bye week they're gonna start playing
a lot better football moving forward. It's not gonna be
like what happened in Kansas City where they had three
first downs and you know, in thirty total plays on offense.
It's just not gonna happen that way anymore.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
All right, Mark.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Now, on the other side, Jacksonville looking for a bounce
back season, Liam Cohen and of course coming off that
coaching tree there of Sean McVay and of course had
a nice year last year with Tampa. Got a lot
of credit for the Buccaneers rise. Have you seen a difference,
I mean, is there a distinct difference from this year's
(29:47):
Jacksonville Jaguars team from what we saw a year ago?
Speaker 11 (29:51):
Oh yeah, they're a much more physical team. Like you
look at them the first couple of weeks when they
went four and one, they are undefeated when they get
five carries and you know, ultimately you look at them
that run the ball the way they've run the ball,
what they did early, and then they try to morph
more into this passing and they're just not ready for
(30:12):
prime time right now. Their quarterback Trevor Lawrence has has
just been inaccurate and a little bit overwhelmed. And part
of it is is trying to be so multiple on
the offensive side of the ball. Part of it is
trying to run your offense on the line of scrimmage.
And today what you're gonna see is you're gonna see
a lot more what I would call call it and
(30:33):
run it or tank plays where they're just going to
line up on the line of scrimmage, use quick kid
and snap the ball and say, hey, this play is
good against everything, and if they get you on one,
you're gonna live with it, as opposed to going, hey man,
we want to get a premium look on every single play.
So on this particular play, we're gonna we're gonna run this.
Then we're gonna check it to a week side run
from a strong side run the morning check it from
a you know, from a run to a pass and
(30:54):
all that kind of stuff. So that's what you're you know,
I think that's what you're going to see kind of
moving forward today is a little bit more simplistic. The
other thing I think you'll see is take some of
the reads off of off of Trevor Lawrence's plate. So
he's going to go from front side one two on
the front side to run one two, take off one two,
(31:17):
go make something happen. He's had in the last two weeks,
by my count, and this is me going through the film,
he has had thirty seven I think it was thirty
seven missed or thirty seven incompletions. Twenty one of them
were miss target pros. So he just hasn't been very accurate.
And some of the drops and they leave the league
(31:39):
and drop. Some of those drops are because the receiver
is running one way and you throw it on his
back hip and like so there are some of those
things that are going on as well that they have
to you know, they have to fix, and part of
that is is taking some of that off his plate,
which they will do today.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
As a radio Fox Sports Rado Steve Harmy vija Husky
right now with Super Bowl winning champion Mark sleare. Fox
NFL analyst Colin Jackson raiders today. I want to stick
right there with you. You're talking about Trevor Lawrence and
you say something like take things off his plate, and
I'm with you. I've watched a lot of tape. I
see the inaccuracy in the wild throws. Is it time
for us maybe to sell the farm on this generational
(32:18):
talent that he was supposed to be coming out of Clemson.
Is he just gonna morphine kind of into just a
really good quarterback or is there still a ceiling for
him to be what he was touted to be coming
out of Clemson winning national championships.
Speaker 11 (32:31):
Well, first of all, you got pump the brakes down
a really good quarterback and he is not even that.
That has not that has not happened yet, and I'm
not saying that it won't happen, but I think I
think you know, one of the things I always say
is put a guy in a position to fail, don't
be surprised when he fails, Like you're the dumbass that
put him in that position. So like you're gonna have
(32:52):
to take some stuff off his play. If you look
at Drake May right now and the season Drake May
is having. Drake May is doing a phenomenal job. Go
in front side of progression, one to two to run,
one to two, to run, one to two to run.
Now occasionally he gets the third in the progression, but
off far more often than not, he never gets to
that backside. Can you win that way? You're damn right,
(33:14):
you can win that way, Like you can win that way.
And so I think part of this has been, like,
hey man, we've loaded Trevor Lawrence up with so much
stuff that he's got a little bit of paralysis by analysis,
and you are going to have to you know, you're
going to have to take some of that stuff off
his plate. So I think that's one of the things
that will happen today. And then ultimately as you go
(33:37):
through that, and as you continue to go through that,
you can start to load things more and more on
his plate. But again, remember I get from college to
the pros. You know, he said, a bunch of different coordinators,
a bunch of different systems. There have been a lot
of things that have gone on in that regard. So anyhow,
I think that's one of the things you have to
(33:57):
look at. But it's it's a company power pawn. It's
Liam Cohen to get his you know, get his stuff
together and take some of that stuff off of his plate.
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Nobody breaks it down any better. He'll be on the
call with the Jags Raiders later on today. Mark, we
always appreciate the time. Thanks so much. Enjoying the game today.
Speaker 11 (34:17):
You got it, guys, Take care.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
That's Mark Schlurtz joining us right there by the way.
The Vikings are leading the Lions on the road fourteen
to seven, and J. J. McCarthy looks good. He's got
a couple of touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (34:31):
Asses.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
Hold on all right, wait, hold on, okay, So now,
thank I got it. I got all kinds of weird
things happening all over the place.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
All right.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
On the other side, we will continue to update you
on the eight games going on around the National Football League.
Speaker 9 (34:47):
This is end Zone Radio. First and goal from the seven.
McCarthy out of the shotgun, Jefferson in moves into the left.
They take a handoff to JJ and McCarthy rolls out
to the right, fires.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
To the end zone.
Speaker 6 (34:59):
Touchdown.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
Own quarter Lion Dude.
Speaker 9 (35:03):
Hackinson catches that side arm fastball from JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
That's k Fan one hundred point three FM Vikings Radio
Network and the Vikings shocking the Lions early fourteen to seven.
This game is in Detroit and JJ McCarthy's return has
been spectacular five of eight sixty eight yards, two touchdown passes,
no picks so so far. The Vikings a big bounce
(35:30):
back so far on the road against the Detroit Lions.
A right quick rundown of the scores right now because
we've had a lot of scoring. Bears lead the Bengals
fourteen to ten. We got thirteen and a half minutes
to go in the first half. There again, thirteen and
a half minutes to go. Also in that Vikings Lions game,
fourteen to seven. Vikings Packers have a three nothing laid
(35:50):
over the Panthers eight minutes to go in the first half.
Fourteen minutes to go in the first half, Chargers got
a field goal, still trail at Tennessee fourteen to ten.
Patriots with a fourteen to seven lead at home against
the Falcons. These are all second quarter scores.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
Forty nine.
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Ers lead the Giants on the road fourteen to seven,
Colts shutting out the Steelers seven nothing, and the Broncos
and Texans. Texans with the three nothing lead there. All right,
you tell you how we've been hyper critical of the
Miami Dolphins for good reason, because well, they're bad. But
this is quite a story with JJ McCarthy. I was
(36:28):
saying a week ago that pretty much they'd given up
hope on JJ McCarthy. As you can see, sometimes I
say things that can backfire on me, which is most
of the time. But the way that McCarthy has played
early on right now, it's got to be exciting to
their coach because he has been so frustrated really with
(36:49):
his quarterback play all season long. Except for that spectacular
fourth corter that McCarthy at early in the year, it
has been a hard time getting this offense going, especially
in light of how they looked a year ago offensively,
And maybe maybe there's hope now when McCarthy off to
a good start today.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
First of all, we're gonna talk about bad teams because
they're bad. Let's make sure we keep including your Raiders
that are probably one of the worst teams in the league.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
With the well, I've already made it clear he Carroll's
gone there there, you'll talk about terrible team.
Speaker 6 (37:19):
They're they're terrible.
Speaker 3 (37:21):
As far as Jaj McCarthy goes, look, it's one game,
it's one half, it's one quarter. I don't need to
keep beating the dead horse with the same stick. People
know I feel about the kid. I'm pulling for him.
What I think they have there in Minnesota. Every year
is different from another year. So I'm actually kind of
out on here. Well, last year they did Okay, that's
last year. Last year they were all the team. Last
year the clach were terrible and look at them now.
(37:42):
So I don't care about last year. No one cares
about last year, but people that want to prove a
personal narrative point, there's only people that care about last year.
Lat year means nothing. But what they have going this
year is it wasn't just the head coach that was
frustrated with the quarterback play. They're there, They're they're w
R one was very frustrated with the quarterback play. And
we've seen Justin Jefferson honestly be a good meritith. Justin
Jefferson has been a good Samartian since he's been in
(38:02):
the NFL. This is a guy who could be as
devish as any receiver we've seen since Tara Lowans and
he hasn't been. He has all the receiving records for
what first four years, first five years, first six You're like,
he's doing everything possible and shows up. Now he's got
some nagging injuries. If you watch receiver, he need to
stop eating all that candy and sugar. That takes water
out of your muscles. That's why you keep having quad hamstring,
(38:22):
quad calf injuries, things of that nature.
Speaker 6 (38:24):
Lack of water.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Stop eating all the candy and the gummy bears and
the gummy savers. But I like what they have going
on here. I like the coach. And I've always said
this about Flores. I don't know how great of a
head coach he was. He only got one shot in
Miami and that thing went awry. But the one thing
he can do is coordinated defense. And he has the
number one blitz win rate over the last three years
in NFL as a defensive coordinator. That means something. That
means when you blitz, they get to you. And that's
(38:48):
and that's important. As we see amaraj Saint Brown just
actually drop a touchdown pass in the back corner of
the end zone third and fourth and one coming up
nonin forty three left in the second quarter fourteen to
seven down to the Vikers. But I'm with you, man,
it's it's great to see. But JJ has the talent.
Anybody says he doesn't, just tell me what your bias
is against. I mean, that's cool if you don't like
the kid, but to put the tape on and go, oh, well.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
He's not why you're staring down Bow Benson.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
He hates J. J. McCarthy's not staring down Bow. I
know a great hand. I haven't said a word, but
I'm gonna.
Speaker 4 (39:19):
Leave somebody else that sits in here. Usually I want
JJ McCarthy to succeed.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
Yeah, I know, but see the other guy. He puts
it on you though. Yeah he does no, no, yeah,
I'll tell you what. He throws the stone and has
his hands off your tom. JJ McCarthy comes up and
he puts your name on it. Every single time.
Speaker 4 (39:35):
I want JJ McCarthy to work out. I'm just not
certain it's going to But he needs to play more,
right you.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
Play ability is availability of your onetre percent right about that,
and I haven't defended that. You gotta be on the field,
kidd Oh. I love you. You're my guy. You won
me a national championship in Michigan fifteen zero. But you
gotta be on the field or I look stupid. Ol
Radio speaking on the field.
Speaker 1 (39:53):
Best quarterback start of the day, Mac Jones of the
forty nine ers is thirteen of thirteen, one hundred and
thirty one yards and two touchdowns. Mac Jones, Did they
really give brock Purty all that money? Did they really
give brock Purty all that money? Because honestly, Mac Jones
(40:15):
looks about the same as Rock Party.
Speaker 3 (40:18):
I mean, is he any worse? Is any better? I
don't know that He's not as seam, He's not as Bowen.
I want to bring Bowl just fast. I know we're
up against the break. We've we've been a system for everyone. Well,
I don't know if it works for everyone to just
bring Maybe brock Purty just wasn't that great.
Speaker 1 (40:33):
Well, how about the fact that Jimmy Garoppolo has one
of the highest winning percentages of any started quarterback in
the history of the NFL.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
We didn't hype him like we was hyping Jimmy now,
I mean like we was hopping Brock much more.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Coming up here on end Zone Radio, rolling along here
Week nine of the NFL big Sunday eight games going
on right now. Once again, we're in the Fox Sports
radio studios. I was listening to guys this morning and
they were talking about scoring and the overs around the NFL.
(41:05):
And right now we got over halves, you know, Bears
Bengals twenty four points, Vikings Lions twenty eight points, Titans
Chargers twenty four points. We got a lot of scoring
going on and not a lot of field goals. I mean, guys,
teams are getting in the end zone. Right now, we're
watching the Steelers trailing the Colts by a score of
(41:28):
seven to nothing. They have a fourth and one at
the Indianapolis twenty yard line. Earlier they had a fourth
down at the three yard line and decided to go
for it and balls dropped and so they did not
get any points out of that. Interesting about the Colts
so far in this game, VJ. Jonathan Taylor not doing
much of anything. Seven yards, seven carries for eighteen yards
(41:52):
once again, Daniel Jones getting some passing going. And now
the Steelers have tied up that game, so which again
an update there, So Colts and Steelers all tied at seven.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
Jonathan Taylor's yards doesn't bother me right now. The Steelers
are hard to run against.
Speaker 11 (42:08):
Guys like that.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
It just is what it is. You're gonna have some
of these sundays where you know, one of my favorite
lines I heard from a coach once. Sometimes the other
guy's good too. Like, I mean, we all we're all pros.
We all get paid. It's not a college team playing
the pro team. So all NFL teams all grown assmen
that make millions of dollars to play a game that
they lovet So some plays, some.
Speaker 6 (42:27):
Days, schemes just work.
Speaker 3 (42:28):
I think he'll crack one like he's got one in
them to crack for thirty forty yards and maybe that
loosens it up. It's like in basketball, they say, a
great shooter that's struggling, what is he goned to do?
Get to the line. Why you just got to see
the ball going. And once you get it to go
in a few times, it kind of looses you up.
Once you crack a run here and there, it kind
of loves up. But the Steelers are hard to run against.
It's not that he didn't you want to go come
in here and run for what a buck? Thirty buck
(42:50):
fifty on the Steelers. No, So it's gonna it's a
it's a tough day, but this is the day for
Daniel Jones and the defense and the receiving corps to
take up for the league's best back, in my opinion,
either him or b Jon Robinson, the two best backs
in the league right now. As Jajon McCarthy gets kicked
in the knee by Hutchison, that's Michigan on Michigan fire
right there, Come on, hutch that's your that's your former teammate, buddy.
(43:13):
What are you doing?
Speaker 1 (43:14):
What is that? By the way, four teams will to
buy those sweet the Browns, the Jets coming off their
first winner of the year, the Eagles, and the Buccaneers.
You talk about best back in the league. We finally
had a breakout game for Saquon Barkley. Now a week off,
let's see if he can start getting rolling here in
the second half. This is why my good friend Eric
Dickerson feels pretty safe with that record of two thousand
(43:34):
and one oh five. And by the way, it was
interesting a year ago with Saquon obviously sitting out that
final game, but in the same number of games he
still had one hundred yards less than Eric uh but
you know, Eric always says, and he'll be the.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
First fourteen exactly so, and Eric is.
Speaker 1 (43:50):
Not gonna he was always gonna acknowledge the fact he
got two thousand and three yards in fourteen games.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
Yeah, Eric got two to one to oh five and
sixteen games.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
The math.
Speaker 1 (44:01):
That's OJ average one hundred and forty three yards rushing
for an entire season. That is still in my book
the record.
Speaker 3 (44:09):
And it could be because even when I talked to
Eric Dickerson, he even makes sure he pays homage rip
to to OJ Simpson and the fact that O. J.
Simpson did it in fourteen games and did it, you know,
did it in less times and like you said, a
buck forty three when everybody in the world knew who
was getting the bell passing Joe Ferguson.
Speaker 1 (44:32):
I mean, it was like old receivers average six yards
of carry for that year.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
Oh they played on that crappy field before they made
it turf wear with greatest bloody. It was just, you know,
it was terrible and for him to be able to
uh do it that way. But Eric Dickerson always gives
props to OJ that OJ did it in fortunes.
Speaker 1 (44:50):
All right, So right now. The Broncos are tricky looking
for some answers. They're trailing this game against the Texans
six to nothing. Uh CJ Stroud not spectacor six or
ten seventy nine yards? Bo Nicks, how about disaster one
of seven with a pick actually now completed his second pass.
Speaker 2 (45:09):
He's now two of nine for twenty four yards and
a pick.
Speaker 1 (45:15):
Now, this is hard to figure out how this Bronco
team is sitting at six and two when bow Knicks
has been so wildly inconsistent all season long. I guess
the only good news for bow Knicks is when they
needed him in the crunch, he seems to have played better.
But you're not going to make any threats in that
AFC West when your quarterback is two of nine passing
(45:36):
for twenty four yards in a pick that, by the way,
is a passer rating of zero point zero. That's what
his passer rating is so far for the Denver Broncos.
And I'm I'm a little disappointed because I thought was
Sean Payton, a veteran coach who's been through this process before.
You know, I didn't expect bow Knicks maybe to be
(45:57):
as good as first year, but I did not think
he was going to take this kind of leap backwards.
Like these defensive coordinators, they do their homework, they find
weakness and quarterbacks and it's up to the quarterback now
to counter that. And bow Knicks has really struggled.
Speaker 3 (46:11):
Well, I'll help you out here if you can't understand
why they're six and two. And this is why I
said what I said at the top of the hour
last hour when the show started, is they're six and two.
Speaker 6 (46:20):
I get it, guys, and I don't.
Speaker 3 (46:21):
I don't want to bang on the record because you
know you are what your record says you are. But
opening week Titans, we know the Titans, We've all agreed
they're the worst team in the league. But they get
beat by the Colts, they get beat by the Chargers,
then they beat the Bengals, the Eagles, who bow rode
off after Week five said they were done and had
the sound bite bo was that was a good win.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
For the Bronx.
Speaker 11 (46:42):
It was.
Speaker 3 (46:42):
It wasn't a good win for the Broncos. Yeah, and
just spin up on himself in the fourth A terrible
fourth course, A terrible okay, if you want to say that,
the tell you is a w you beat the Super Bowl,
say that the pump your team, no problem. So then
they beat But then they beat the Jets, who got
their first win last week. They beat the Giants, who
are another dumpster fire. Then they put forty four in
(47:03):
the Cowboys that have zero defense. Oh, Dan Quinn left,
no wonder, your defense is gone. The defense is now
in Washington, so we see what's going on there. But
now on the road against the Texans under five hundred
team against a backup quarterback.
Speaker 6 (47:17):
Now because c J. Strout has been.
Speaker 3 (47:20):
Ruled out, he's being evaluated for concussion.
Speaker 1 (47:22):
We have been on stroud guys.
Speaker 3 (47:25):
Well, if you're being evaluated for concussion the way he
took that, I would, I would, I would. Couldn't imagine
he's coming back in today. That'd be malpractice and in
the NFL would be in a lot of trouble, and
so would the Houston Texas. But zero points today against
a formidable defense. He can't move the ball.
Speaker 11 (47:43):
Again.
Speaker 3 (47:43):
They beat up on some you know, some of the
lesser competition, and it took another bumble as it just miss.
Speaker 1 (47:50):
The receiver, absolutely missed by bow NISI And so frustration
definitely there. Steelers right now tied with the Colts and
they have just scored Aaron Rodgers has just thrown a
touchdown pass to give the Steelers a lead over the Colts.
So the Colts seven and one on the season on
the road against the Steelers. This is one of those
(48:13):
games that Mike Tomlin finds ways to win. You know,
you always wonder why he's never had a losing season.
Fourteen to seven Steelers, And that is if you look
at the Steelers year in and a year out, and
of course their main victims have been the Ravens. They
just seem to have the Ravens number. But the Steelers
will steal a game that you may not expect them
(48:36):
to win. And right now the Steelers, after early seven
to nothing deficit, are leading the Colts by a score
of fourteen to seven.
Speaker 3 (48:45):
How they got the ball back though, Danny Dimes got
to make sure we get full of contact. Danny Dives
threw a pick inside his own thirty yard line. That's
how they got the ball back to punch it back in.
And speaking of bow Nicks, your gout. Bo Nicks just
hit Sutton for a touchdown. So now they're finally on
the boy. He didn't miss this one. He's open. It's
the same route, right, It's the same route. It's like
John Pay's like run the same place.
Speaker 1 (49:06):
All right, yeahs, I'll tell you a quarterback that we
now have to start to acknowledge. And again they're home
against the Falcons. Patriot is a leading twenty one seven
Drake May nine or thirteen hundred and fifty seven two touchdowns.
Speaker 6 (49:20):
I'm not each week he's.
Speaker 3 (49:22):
Getting better, by the way. You're not in on Drake?
Speaker 6 (49:25):
Ye, what do you mean?
Speaker 3 (49:27):
What do you mean him or me? Are you talking
to him?
Speaker 4 (49:28):
Or Yeah?
Speaker 3 (49:28):
What do you mean?
Speaker 4 (49:29):
You're not in on Drake?
Speaker 5 (49:30):
What do you what?
Speaker 3 (49:34):
What I'm waiting for is this. If we're not gonna
be in on other quarterbacks that we have to wait
and see, for quarterbacks that have won Super Bowls, then
I don't have to be in on a guy who's
having a good second year up to week eight of
his career. If we're not in on guys that have
won Super Bowls and gone to multiple Super Bowls, then
(49:54):
I don't have to be in on a guy that
looks good.
Speaker 1 (49:57):
Hey, you have to you knowledge, he looks a lot
better than he did a year ago. Okay, Okay, I think.
Speaker 4 (50:03):
He looks far and away like the best quarterback in
that class. I don't even think it's close.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
Right now, that is better than Caleb Williams, better than Daniels.
Speaker 3 (50:12):
But we changed that last year. Last year, that wasn't
the tall Last year it was Jade and Daniels. Okay,
now it's Drake May. We keep moving to go.
Speaker 4 (50:21):
I feel like people forget though, going into the draft,
that it was very much Caleb Williams one aide, Drake
May one b exactly.
Speaker 3 (50:27):
Hey, guys, I gotta mention this right now.
Speaker 1 (50:30):
And you know, with the Jets struggling, the Dolphins struggling,
and the Patriots on the big rebound, ownership means everything.
Bob Kraft is a Hall of Fame owner, even if
he's not in the Hall of Fame yet. Because they
made a mistake in hiring a coach. Nothing personal. It
just was we have a chance to bring Mike vrabel In,
(50:50):
who's an established NFL coach, to write this ship, and
you make that kind of move immediately. This is one
thing that has kept the Patriots through the box Craft
era alive and well is the fact that when they
make mistakes, and they make plenty of them. Like everyone else.
They cut their losses immediately. It doesn't matter if we
(51:11):
drafted you high or we paid a lot of money
in free agency. If you're the wrong fit, gone. We're
not going to hang on thinking, well, things are going
to get better, we believe. No, it's gone first. You know,
love at first sight, hate at first sight, get rid
of them, make a change. That's how you stay on
top of things. In the NFL. It's such a recycled job.
(51:31):
You have very short careers. You can't afford to hang
on to something that's not working. And this has been
the problem with certain organizations where certain ownerships are hesitant
to make the kind of moves that the Patriots have
done under Bob Kraft.
Speaker 3 (51:45):
He belongs in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
Unfortunately he's not going to get in this year either,
because Belichick is going to be a first ballot Hall
of Famer and they're sort of lumped together in the
same career.
Speaker 3 (51:54):
As Bob Kraft, a city Party v BO. But I
just want to go just go back to that. You
do understand where I'm coming from, though, right I'm not
saying I don't like the guy, and the guy's not
going to be good. All I'm saying is if we
can't be in on quarterbacks that have done what we
ask quarterbacks to do in radio, TV and fanship, then
(52:17):
I don't have to be in on a guy that
looks better than last year. And week nine of his
second season is all I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (52:23):
I think I think it was just looks better than
last year. I would I would understand that, But I
think Drake may looks like one of the five best
quarterbacks in football right now.
Speaker 3 (52:33):
Well, again, what do we talk about all the time? VJ?
Speaker 1 (52:36):
You know, does he look comfortable? Is he? Is?
Speaker 3 (52:38):
He comfortable?
Speaker 6 (52:38):
Looks comfortable?
Speaker 3 (52:39):
He looks.
Speaker 1 (52:41):
Now, learn the system, he knows what he's doing with
the football, and the results speak for this.
Speaker 3 (52:47):
Also, to really fair, we love Pinnicks going into the
end of last year and coming into the season too.
We love Pinnis. They're risk of fall into three and
five right now. Jayden Daniels can't stay on the field.
Bow Knicks has seven points in the first half. This
it's I'm trying to both honestly, I'm trying to get
out of the flux of like every lea were kind
of changing exactly. Let's change let's give it three to
(53:08):
five years. Five two years, I say, no, I thought.
I think I think three years is fair. I think
three years are star and there are exceptions. No one
after three years thought Dan Fouts was going to the
Hall of Fame or Steve Young was going to the
Hall of Fame, or Aaron Rodgers when he'm playing.
Speaker 1 (53:24):
I mean, there are exceptions to the rule, but usually
if you're if you're a year one starter as a rookie,
by year three, I mean Sam Darnold defied the odds.
Obviously after three years he was gone. I mean, Baker Mayfield,
you know, it was going sideways. So yes, there are exceptions,
but usually three years, you know.
Speaker 3 (53:46):
It's head coach. Look what Mark Schlera said about Trevor Lawrence.
Speaker 1 (53:51):
He's like, yeah, it's not happening, but it's But.
Speaker 3 (53:53):
Trevor's gone through three.
Speaker 6 (53:56):
Myer thing was that set him back two years.
Speaker 4 (53:58):
As much as it pains me to and I really
do think that Josh McDaniels might be one of the
three best off. Absolutely terrible coach, awful head coach, but
just yeah, that's the I think that's the biggest thing
for for Drake.
Speaker 3 (54:12):
Now, everybody can't lead the company. But there's some people
that can lead departments. Rightly, there's some people that have
great department heads, but they they can't leave. Fox Sports
got Spags.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
Remember when Spags was a head coach in freaking disaster
and yet he's one of the great defensive coordinators and historys.
Speaker 3 (54:28):
Yeah, just absolutely awful. All right.
Speaker 1 (54:31):
Coming up on the other side, will continue to update
these eight games around the NFL.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
Yeah, we're closing in on halftimes. This is end Zone radio.
Speaker 3 (54:39):
Second and eight snap to Rogers back looking at the
right four firemoo touchdown Pittsburgh Steelers, US strike from Rogers
to firemoot and the Steelers have taken the lead.
Speaker 1 (54:52):
That's one O two five w DVE Steelers Radio Network.
Steelers with the fourteen to seven lead. The Colts gotten
to the two minute warning. There are a quick update
on the scoreboard. Bears lead the Bengals fourteen to thirteen.
Vikings over the Lions seventeen fourteen. Panthers at the half
lead the Packers. How about that in Green Bay seven
(55:15):
to six. Chargers and Titans are tied at seventeen four
minutes to go on the second Falcons trailing the Patriots
twenty one seven, but they have a first and goal
at New England's five yard line. Final seconds a half
there halftime forty nine Ers and Giants forty nine Ers
leading seventeen to seven. So we mentioned the Steelers have
fourteen to seven over the coltsman and a half to
(55:35):
go in the half there, and the Broncos have a
seven six lead over the Texans, and right now Texans
have a fourth and one at the Denver twenty yard line.
Speaker 3 (55:43):
Let me back up a.
Speaker 1 (55:44):
Little bit here, the Green Bay Packers are losing at
halftime to the Panthers. I mean, you know we right
now the Packers are the number one seed in the NFC,
and that's another team. You're like, okay, how seriously we
take the Packers a perfect three and all at home,
you know, two to one and one on the road.
Are they the best team in the NFC right now?
(56:05):
Because certainly this first half says otherwise.
Speaker 3 (56:09):
Dubtoll.
Speaker 1 (56:09):
By the way, this kid, I mean, we don't, literally
no one in this building remembers him with the Cowboys.
Last year, he had a thousand yard rushing year with
the Cowboys. In that forgettable season, Dallas had sixty six
yards and a touchdown. They half for Carolina. He has
been a huge difference maker for a Panthers teams. That's
right on the cusp right now, four and four going
(56:30):
into this game. Imagine if they win this game on
the road, you suddenly have to look at the Panthers
seriously as a wildcard contender in the NFC.
Speaker 6 (56:41):
Well not suddenly. You and I both picked them to be.
We did an eight or nine win team.
Speaker 3 (56:44):
Both of us picked the Panthers because we both love
b Y matterfacture at the modern data. Just put it
on Bosco again Friday night. Anyway, his alma mater where
he played high school football, Bryce Young. But we both
like this team number one. Well once again, well we
have Mark on right. It's a few years man, they
have a new coach. You gotta get your chemistry. You
gotta get your your voice, you gotta get your camaraderie,
(57:06):
you gotta get your vibe going throughout the franchise. It
takes a minute sometimes and you gotta get guys. Like
you said, you can't just out athlete people in the NFL.
It's not gonna happen. So that's what I think a
gamelight today is Bryce gets knocked out. Andy Dalton looks terrible.
You're the Packers. You embarrassed the Steelers on national TV.
(57:27):
It's putting the thirty five burger on them. And you
got the Panthers coming in home on November two, and
you just think, hey, yeah, where show right? Just show up?
The green ge is better than the powder blue panther
on your helmet, right, All we have to do is
show up.
Speaker 1 (57:44):
And here we are, by the way, Michael Pennix Junior
and absolute strike touchdown pass with Drake London and so
the Falcons are pointing away to make this a one
score game against the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (57:57):
Just a few seconds left in the first half there
that was not that really nice.
Speaker 3 (58:04):
May got stripsacked and the Falcons picked it up and
ran it about twenty yards got tackled.
Speaker 6 (58:09):
So that's how they got the ball back.
Speaker 3 (58:10):
So Drake May there, I mean, you know, having a
good year and all, but mistakes like that you have
to protect the ball, especially going into the half, and
basically just handed them seven points going into the half.
And I'm not sure who gets the ball, but if
the Falcons get the ball, that that is an astronomical
mistake about the Steelers two in the Coats, Like this
is what you love about the NFL. The Coats are legit.
(58:30):
Let's just stay there. But you are going on the road.
You are going to a familiar opponent in the AFC,
and these games are going to matter because when we
come down to tiebreakers and seeds and things of that nature.
And if you're the Steelers and let's say you gotta
go to Indianapolis divisional weekend because it won't be wild
card if the Coats have the number one seed, the
(58:50):
don't have to buy, but.
Speaker 6 (58:51):
You gotta go in there. Are you afraid of them?
Speaker 3 (58:53):
Why?
Speaker 12 (58:54):
No?
Speaker 6 (58:54):
Back in week nine, we handle them.
Speaker 3 (58:55):
Now.
Speaker 6 (58:56):
I'm a guy that says regular.
Speaker 3 (58:57):
Season no matter the postseason, but mentally so a football
player that's got to, you know, bang his body against
another grown man's body. Hey, we did this already. If
we ain't worried about coming up, it's your place. It's
warming here. It's cold in Pittsburgh. It's warming here. We've
done this.
Speaker 6 (59:11):
We can do it again. So that's why this is
an important game of my eyes.
Speaker 1 (59:14):
You know what really points out to me, this is
like a mid season game here. Week nine one, we
haven't had a missed extra point yet, and we've got
a lot of We've had a lot of touchdowns. I'm
just like, yeah, we have a lot of touchdowns, a
lot of scoring around the NFL. Look if we have
to admit things. Okay, So you know VJ and I
(59:35):
sit here with our whole crew, and you know we're
always waiting for a couple of great finishes. We had
none last week. Yeah, last week was like yeah, I mean,
it was just one of those weeks. But I'm looking
at these games, how they're shaking out right now. I'm
keeping my fingers crossed. I'm I'm gonna guess that we
are going to have multiple games. With eight games on
(59:55):
the schedule, I can see three or four of these
games coming right down to the wire. I mean, who
could have predicted the Titans would be tied at seventeen with.
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
The Chargers right now.
Speaker 1 (01:00:08):
Herbert's having a really good game twelve of eighteen hundred
and seventy four yards and two scores. Unfortunately, started the
day where they picked six. Cam Ward hasn't done much
of anything. He's four of ten for fifty three yards.
In fact, total yards in this game, two thirteen for
the Chargers only won away for the Titans, and yet seventeen.
Speaker 6 (01:00:28):
He just doesn't have guys.
Speaker 11 (01:00:29):
Go.
Speaker 4 (01:00:29):
I don't know if you guys mentioned that either, but
Joe Walt didn't get carted off in this game. Oh
dah Rey did not look good either, And.
Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
There's always a team that Because I was high on him,
I know a lot of other people were too. It
wasn't just me. But injuries might have really just ripped
this season. And they still can be a plus five
hundred team and go to the playoffs. But I'm almost
out on the Chargers this being their year. That harball
normally in his second year, if you follow his car,
(01:00:58):
if you follow his his track of his past, his
second year, they make astronomical leaves. But you gotta have guys,
and when you lose to all pro guys like that
pro ballers on the offensive line.
Speaker 6 (01:01:10):
With Shawn's later, Joe alt was already out. They just
got him back.
Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
In fact, I did play this two days ago an
interview with Herbert talking about the return of Joe Alt
right and then how excited he was for Joe to
get back out on the field, how much he wanted
to be out there.
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
What a different.
Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
Well, I mean, look at their offense. It was like
last day last week and they put up points. But
right now they're in the struggle and Joe Alt is out.
At least we build an update on that injury. Seventeen
All Chargers Titans. By the way, we just saw Aaron
Rodgers take a sack. Now the Steelers are leading the
(01:01:48):
Colts fourteen to seven, ten seconds to go in the
first half. I guess he'll probably run one more play
if they have to settle for a field goal, they will. Meanwhile,
Bow trying to make something happen here for the Bronk.
He's got an open receiver, under threw a pick. Yeah,
he almost threw a pick.
Speaker 3 (01:02:07):
Can we also give some credit also to to the
Vikings defense, this line's offense, or do we need to
start kind of not questioning, but making some conversation about
this line's office that maybe the league is kind of
caught up to him because we haven't seen the explosive
Jamier Gibbs. We thought we were gonna se it starting
right there because.
Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
I went into this season and I said, look, if
there's one guy that I just want to watch, it's
Jamiir Gibbs. Yeah, and this game, I mean he has
four carries for fifteen yards and David Montgomery six carries
for ten yards. The two headed monster ten carries for
twenty five yards in the first half.
Speaker 3 (01:02:47):
Yards in the first half so far for the line
one hundred and twenty four total yards.
Speaker 6 (01:02:51):
That's a Flores defense man. Yeah, it shows up every week.
Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
Now, Flores.
Speaker 1 (01:02:56):
Look at Flores is recognized as one of the best
defensive coordinators in the league.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
For good reason. He's proven it over time.
Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
So we're almost at halftime now with all these games,
so let's take a little moment here to find out
what is trending as Montsey is back to give us
the updated on all eight games around the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:03:16):
I really hate this Joe Alt situation, guys, I really do.
Speaker 1 (01:03:19):
It's terrible. I mean, we just literally on TV played
this interview two days ago with Herbert so excited to
have Joe Alt back that the level.
Speaker 5 (01:03:29):
Of play when he is out dramatically goes down for
the Chargers and it just sucks.
Speaker 6 (01:03:35):
Justin Herbert has been running for his life last six weeks.
I've watched every.
Speaker 3 (01:03:42):
Snap, you know, that's my guy. I'm with Herbert it's
till he retires. He's just one of the guys I've
always liked and and I'm sticking with him. You guys know,
he's running.
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
For him his life, he really is.
Speaker 3 (01:03:52):
The last six weeks he is just and it does
and it's not what he wants to do. No, of
course not, that's not what he is.
Speaker 5 (01:03:59):
But he doesn't have a The very first play after
Joe Alt had to be carted off. He's questionable to return,
by the way, with an ankle injury. The very next play,
Vijay he was sacked and guard.
Speaker 6 (01:04:09):
Was probably either untouched or just a good slap downs move.
Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
It's just back up.
Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
Yeah, it's frustrating.
Speaker 5 (01:04:16):
It's frustrating, but the Chargers have taken the lead right
before the half. Twenty to seventeen is the score against
the Titans in Tennessee. All of these games are pretty
much at halftime. As you mentioned, Steve or making their
way to the half. The Patriots and the Falcons Atlanta
made it interesting right before the half. They forced the fumble,
got the ball back around the ten yard line, and
with twenty three seconds they were able to capitalize.
Speaker 2 (01:04:38):
They got in the end zone.
Speaker 5 (01:04:39):
Michael Pennix Junior connected with Drake London for a second time,
so the Falcons cut their deficit. New England up twenty
one to fourteen forty nine. Are still up on the
Giants seventeen to seven. You know, New York started things
off with an opening drive touchdown and they kind of
quieted down a little bit. Steelers who this is the
first game I want to say this season that the
Steelers have Actually it looked like the typical Steelers defensive
(01:05:01):
team right like the last three weeks gave up thirty
three points to their teams.
Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
Here they are.
Speaker 5 (01:05:06):
Steelers are up against the Cold seventeen to seven. Daniel
Jones eleven of twenty one hundred and fourteen yards and
an interception. Jonathan Taylor eight carries for twenty three yards.
So Steelers out here.
Speaker 2 (01:05:16):
Doing what they can.
Speaker 5 (01:05:17):
With one minute to go on the first half. The
Texans are up on the Broncos nine to seven.
Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
CJ.
Speaker 5 (01:05:22):
Stroud has not been officially ruled out for the rest
of the game, but after a hard hit he left
the game, was evaluated for a concussion, went to the
locker room. Davis Mills has been in that quarterback for
Houston Packers. Quiet day today as the Panthers are leading
the Packers seven to six at the half.
Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
Also at the half, Vikings over the lines. You guys
were talking about that one.
Speaker 5 (01:05:40):
Minnesota up seventeen to fourteen here and the Bears and
the Bengals are still going. There's a minute to go
in the first half of this one. Bengals are up
twenty to seventeen. Joe Flaco nine of fourteen, one hundred
and sixty five yards and a touchdown so far in
this one.
Speaker 2 (01:05:54):
Still to come.
Speaker 5 (01:05:54):
It's going to be the Seahawks and the Commanders. But
the NFL Network was reporting today that even though Commanders
have you both Samuel Back and Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin
he's out this week, He's likely going to be out
next week, and he's probably gonna miss the Dolphins game
in Madrid as well.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
So scary Terry. Not looking good for my fantasy, you
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:06:11):
Well, not just that he ran his mouth a lot
about his contract in the Oh my gosh, I.
Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
Forgot about that. I forgot about that.
Speaker 5 (01:06:19):
And lastly, in college football, Auburn has fired their head coach,
Hugh Freeze back to you, guys.
Speaker 6 (01:06:23):
So that's nine power for coaching positions open.
Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
Look at nine nine. I could go for a job
and then get fired for buyout.
Speaker 3 (01:06:32):
I told you the best job.
Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
College coach?
Speaker 3 (01:06:36):
How could I do that?
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
There's it seems like a win win situation.
Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
Guys.
Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
You know how rare it used to be.
Speaker 1 (01:06:42):
Any college football coach, you get fired during a season, Yes,
they never happen, are you? You make changes after the seas?
I mean professional sports is different.
Speaker 3 (01:06:54):
Oh that's right.
Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
It's professional sports these days, and it's being treated as such.
But the idea we've had all all these coaches fired.
Speaker 6 (01:07:02):
I saw what you did, the just clever? Yeah nice?
Speaker 4 (01:07:04):
Yeah nice.
Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
Well it is what it is, and that's why the
whole dynamic of college football is completely changed.
Speaker 3 (01:07:11):
Oh my goodness, the questioning carousel this year is going
to be It's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:07:16):
Absolutely unbelievable. And then where do all these guys land?
Do they sit on that bucket of money they're all
sitting on? Will be interesting? Once again, we're in the

I had a question for you. You go first, though, Okay, okay.
So the Kansas City Chiefs, they say, are on a roll,
(01:07:58):
and I'm trying to figure this out. They've won three
straight home games, two of them against bad teams, the
Raiders and the Commanders.
Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
They got the one road home game against the Lions.
Speaker 1 (01:08:13):
This overhype on the suddenly resurgent Kansas City Chiefs to me,
is so overplayed.
Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
I cannot believe the Bills are an underdog at home.
Speaker 1 (01:08:25):
Considering again, Josh Allen is four and one head ahead
against Mahomes in regular season games. Look, if it was
a playoff game, I could understand why the Chiefs would
be favored.
Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
But I do not get it.
Speaker 1 (01:08:37):
I'm watching the Chiefs and you know, they're beating bad
teams like the Raiders and the Commanders at home.
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
Now they're going to Buffalo. Why are the Bills underdogs? Please?
Please explain to me or let me find out from you.
Are you caught up?
Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
Are you on that Chiefs bandwagon again that the Chiefs
are back after win three straight home games.
Speaker 3 (01:09:02):
Yes and no, no, because I was never on the bandwagon,
because I was never on the side that they've fallen
off the cliff. I did pick the charge of to
win the division because I just felt like that they
had the pieces, and now we've seen that they're losing
the pieces through injury. But I am a guy that
feels like champions and teams that are consistent should be
respected by all unless you're a fan of the rival
(01:09:25):
team for as long as they keep showing you that
they're there. Like, tell me who's played in the Super
Bowls from the AFC over the last six seven years.
Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
It's been the Chiefs who's been in the conference.
Speaker 3 (01:09:36):
Pat Mahomes has not been in anything less than the
conference championship game. That still matters until you see it
consistently go the opposite way. And I just think that
that's only fair in respect. It was like the Spurs,
it was like the Patriots. It's like Golden State. We
still now there's still people that think, you know, they
(01:09:59):
got they got out r for the Manti broke at
the day that he signed. He got Jimmy Butler for
a whole season. I was there opening the night and
covered him. And there's still this vibe of, oh man,
you know, could you write off Golden Stages. It's that
they've won so much, they've been so consistent. Then there
needs to be a certain level of respect from our
(01:10:19):
business and from fans that needs to come with that.
Speaker 6 (01:10:21):
That's up you all the time.
Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
I am not a Patrick Mahomes fan at all, but
when I watched Quarterback on Netflix and I saw his work,
ethic and what he does, it's not luck, guys, It's not.
Speaker 6 (01:10:31):
Luck that he can lean a certain way. He trains
to do that. So when your a guy like me
that sees that, okay, I gotta give you respect.
Speaker 12 (01:10:38):
Man.
Speaker 6 (01:10:38):
I won't call it luck no more.
Speaker 3 (01:10:39):
I don't have to be your fan, but I'm just
not gonna write you off because at the end of
the day, you know as well as I do, if
you still got one five, you still in January, you
still got one five in January, you still got big
red over there with the mustache, you still.
Speaker 6 (01:10:55):
Got a shit.
Speaker 3 (01:10:56):
I have been on record and I will repeat it.
Speaker 1 (01:11:00):
Patrick Mahomes has already played in his final Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
Oh, I didn't know that.
Speaker 1 (01:11:06):
I'm Patrick Mahomes. I will never play in another.
Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
Hall of Famers super Bowl. He's already a Hall of
I'm talking to you. You're a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 1 (01:11:15):
You say some of the some of the walk, Patrick Mahomes,
I want to be a record for this because ten
years So now you're like, wow, do you realize that
I will be?
Speaker 6 (01:11:26):
I'll give you I'm gonna still be a.
Speaker 1 (01:11:27):
Reckon with me in ten years and we're gonna say,
you know, you're there, still is a first ballot Hall
of Famer.
Speaker 3 (01:11:33):
You're not.
Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
You're not taking your words back right now.
Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
Now, Patrick Mahomes will never and then another superpartman was wrong.
Right now, I feel good about that prediction before I said,
I said that after they got blown out of that
super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:11:53):
That's fine, that's fine. But now that you see them
now I see them now.
Speaker 1 (01:11:58):
I am telling you I'm not wavering at all by
the way, uh you're saying playing, Yeah, he.
Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
Will never play in another not play that way.
Speaker 1 (01:12:10):
A week ago Friday, I won on a radio show
that I do every week that's based in San Diego,
and they asked me, what do you think the Blue
Jays chances are of winning this World Series is? Before
Game one? I said zero zero. So I was back
on the show Friday with the Dodgers down three games
to two. They go, do you want to change your prediction?
(01:12:31):
I said, no, the chances of the Blue Jays winning
this World Series are zero.
Speaker 3 (01:12:38):
Respect for sticking with your because I'm a guy like
that too. I'm not back in. I'm say zero.
Speaker 12 (01:12:44):
Zero.
Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
And I was on the air and they're like, come on,
I go the come on zero. Listen to me zero
because it's okay to come back. And I think this
is something I said his all time is missing our business.
It's okay to come back and just say you miss something?
Are you wrong? One? We know that's not Oh I
didn't say no, Yes you did. You said it, And
(01:13:05):
don't get mad because I'm putting it in your face.
You said it, but I must here. Here's what.
Speaker 1 (01:13:11):
Holmes will continue to have a great career, They're gonna
come up short. They can't get back to a super Bowl,
and he's gonna say at the end of his careers
he's heading first ballot Hall of Famer. Uh, my biggest
regret is that my last Super Bowl was as ugly
as it was.
Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
I mean, that's gonna be the biggest regret of my career.
Speaker 1 (01:13:27):
My last appearance was a humiliating defeat to those philography speech.
Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
Already written for my identity.
Speaker 1 (01:13:35):
Can you can see, mister domas I can see the future.
I'm looking into my crystal ball. Speaking of the crystal ball,
coming out to the other side. Will updates you get
started with second halfs of eight games around the NFL.
This is end zone radio shotgun snap to Flacco, drops
back five steps, fires at deep ball left side.
Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
Jamar T. Higgins comes away with the football touch the Bengals.
He just ripped it away from the defensive back in coverage.
Have the Bengals take the lead with one twelve left
in the half.
Speaker 1 (01:14:11):
At seven hundred WLW Bengals Radio Network. Bengals lead the
Bears twenty seventeen at the half. Joe Flacco playing well
man another big first half for him, nine to fourteen,
one hundred and sixty five yards passing in the first half,
a touchdown, no picks there. Caleb Williams also pretty good
(01:14:32):
at the half twelve to twenty two hundred and thirty
six and to score also no picks. So game's actually
a pretty even game right now. You know, the Bengals
are just trying to keep their head above water. They're
trying at three and five. We still don't have any
timetable on Joe Burrow, but you know, they've got to
have this win at home.
Speaker 2 (01:14:49):
He can't lose at home against the Bears.
Speaker 1 (01:14:52):
Bears, obviously right now are a team right on the
cusps of the playoffs, are sitting at four and three
right now, you know, and we it was yesterday I
was on the show where we were talking about the
Bears situation and you know, the whole Ben Johnson dynamic
in Chicago, and I was asking the Bears insider, give
(01:15:15):
me the bare minimum of what they need to see
this year, where Bears fans are like, okay, that's bare minimum,
and honestly, they said, look, seven and ten is bare minimum.
Speaker 2 (01:15:28):
I mean, that's a two game improvement over where they
were a year ago.
Speaker 1 (01:15:32):
Obviously, the Bears certainly are expecting more down the road,
but you know, I don't know if the Bears are
there yet. This is about the time when they fell
apart last year, completely caved in their season. So we'll
see where they go. But right now, Bengals lead that
game of the half twenty to seventeen.
Speaker 3 (01:15:48):
And I'll tell you this about the Bears. So, like,
let's break down the divisions in the playoffs and the
way things look right now. The Bears right now sitting
in the A seed four and three. The problem is
is they're zero to two in the division. Yeah, that's
the problem. Three and two against the conference. But in
your division is where you're going to either make a
wildcard or miss a wild card. It's not who you
(01:16:08):
play in your conference, it's who you play in your division.
They gotta get better at that. If you flip over
to the AFC and you talk about the Bengals and
Joe Burrow and Uncle Flax now just throwing it and
slinging that thing around because he knows this is probably
his last shot. I don't know the guy. I'll probably
try to come back and play next year. You know
the way he was talking, in the way he's looking
in Cincinnati three and five. But they're two and zero
(01:16:31):
in their division, which is gonna help them if you
can somehow just hover around a game of two or
five hundred until Burrow gets back. You got a shot.
We believe Burrow's the kind of guy that if you
give just give me a shot, just give me a chance,
and I can get you there. We still have w
R one B in my opinion, receiver in the NFL.
(01:16:52):
It means either Ham or Justin Jefferson. You flip a coin,
take whoever you want. You're not missing anything either way.
So it's gonna come down to a lot. But it's
just there's still so much football.
Speaker 6 (01:17:01):
To be played.
Speaker 3 (01:17:02):
We see guys go down, Like any of these teams
we're talking about, there are there a defender or an
offensive lineman rolling up on their back of their ankle
or back of their leg for being out from six
to twelve weeks. Steve, we saw this with Fred Warner.
Fred Warner to heart and soul at the San Francisco defense.
That's friendly fired. I wasn't even an opposing player. That's
(01:17:22):
his own guy that rolls up on him. It takes
him out for the year. So and I'm not wishing
bad lucky injury on anybody, but we know, Steve, you
play this game long enough, You play this season long enough.
Man these days, Travis Hunter is on the ir right right,
these big name people just keep getting well. The Travis
Hunders situation.
Speaker 1 (01:17:40):
I mean, he's coming off his best offensive game, and
that's gonna be the question for the Jaguars.
Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
How are we gonna use him? Can this kid play
on every down? He wants to do it?
Speaker 3 (01:17:48):
But is that the right move?
Speaker 1 (01:17:50):
Brian Dable Giants right now trailing at home to the
forty nine Ers twenty to seven. Everyone knows that Scataboo
was the emotional leader as a as a rookie on
this team Jackson Dart in this game twelve of sixteen.
That sounds good. Here's the problem. He only has one
completion over ten yards, only seventy three yards, so one
(01:18:11):
fifteen yard pass. Everything else is nine yards or less.
Has Dable done anything at least with the addition of
Jackson Dart. Now for the ownership of the Giants to say,
all right, we like where we're starting with Dart. Do
we want to change? Do we want to have the
(01:18:31):
coaching carousel offensive coordinator carousel? That could stunt the growth
of a very promising young quarterback in Jackson Dart.
Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
It could stunt the growth or it could excel the growth.
Remember glasses half full of half empty. Life is about perception,
per perception. Let me explain something that I think is
going to happen. We just heard in Monci's last update
that there are how many power for jobs nine ye
a lot of coaches being fired. Garrantee you I put
it on the books right now, market stamp it, clip it.
(01:19:05):
Whatever one of these NFL franchises is gonna try to
go grab one of these college guys that got It's
hugely a mistake, but it usually happens.
Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
Yeah, I mean, unless you have a long history of
being an assistant.
Speaker 1 (01:19:18):
Let me tell you something.
Speaker 6 (01:19:19):
I'm gonna give you a name.
Speaker 3 (01:19:20):
These guys, I'm gonna give your name right now, and
you guys are You're gonna say no, But it's gonna
be thought provoking.
Speaker 6 (01:19:26):
It is gonna make you think whether you.
Speaker 3 (01:19:27):
Like them or not.
Speaker 2 (01:19:28):
Before I answer, I'm gonna give it a pause.
Speaker 1 (01:19:30):
Okay, go ahead, Lane Kiffin, giants, But Lane is guy
that has NFL experience, right Okay, but he's still in
college right now? Yeah, no, look at right now, Lane
Kiffin is the hottest, hottest coaching in the world. Look
at all these SEC teams that are firing coaches Dawburn, LSU, Florida,
they all want Lane Kiffing.
Speaker 3 (01:19:53):
You know where I want them. I want him in
New York. I don't want him at another college. I've
already seen what you can do in college. Come to
the pro. Who is Jackson Dart's coaching college? Why do
we fall in love with Jackson Dart? Why are you
been that? I've seen it all through the draft process,
all through the combine stuff. You and I were two
guys on say, man, this kid's if he works with
his accuracy, his kid's got moxie. His kid is spin No. No,
(01:20:16):
I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:20:18):
The thing about Lane Kiffin, or as he was introduced
as a complete unknown coach of the Raiders, Lance Kiffen
by his my late great owner Al Davis, which is
just still an all time play. By that time, mister
Davis looked like the crip keeper and he brings on
a lot to introduce the the new coach of the
(01:20:38):
rendas Lance Kiffin. I'm like, oh my god, did he
just call him Lance?
Speaker 11 (01:20:43):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:20:44):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (01:20:44):
Roll in log?
Speaker 1 (01:20:45):
By the way, you know what hour this is?
Speaker 3 (01:20:50):
Do you know what time it is? No huddle hour? Yeah,
no huddle hour.
Speaker 1 (01:20:54):
That's what it is right now as we get into
the second half of these games around the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:20:59):
We are live from the Fox Sports radio studios.
Speaker 1 (01:21:02):
Come on, we need some games.
Speaker 3 (01:21:04):
We need games that go down to the wire.
Speaker 1 (01:21:07):
Bengals lead the Bears by three, Vikings lead the Lions
by three, Panthers lead the Packers by one, Chargers over
the Titans by three. You see there's a note there.
You know one game that's uh tael on one sider
right now, VJ, and that is the Steelers defense is
doing a number on the Colts in this game. Steelers
(01:21:28):
aren't doing it a lot offensively, but this game is
all about that Steeler defense shutting down a Colts offense
that has been so dynamic. By the way, the last
time the Colts trailed at the half in a game
was the game against the Rams, and that is their
only loss of the season. So we got seven minutes
to go on the third quarter. The halftime score is
(01:21:49):
still sitting there, seventeen to seven, Pittsburgh leading this game.
And Jonathan Taylor ten carries for only twenty four yards.
His longest care area of the game is six yards.
It's it's not Again, the total yards on this game
are almost identical, so they're not really doing anything differently.
But the Colts definitely finding out the that Steeler defense
(01:22:12):
is pretty good.
Speaker 3 (01:22:13):
Yeah, still a defense is pretty good. Mike Tomlin still
kind of anchors the defense, even though they do have
a coordinator there. I'm pretty sure in the weekly meetings
his voice is heard first and the defensive side of
the meetings and then lets his coordinator go on. Like
the Andy Reid, I'm pretty sure his voice is heard
for us before Eric being in me when he was
the offensive coordinator there would go on and implement his
game plan. But also to the NFC North is very
(01:22:34):
interesting today because you got Chicago down up in Cincinnati,
you have this vaunted offense of the Lions, they can't
seem to really do much against good defenses of the
last two of the last three weeks. And then you
got the Packers at home right now.
Speaker 1 (01:22:49):
That still losing, still losing to my man is six
to my man b Wy?
Speaker 7 (01:22:53):
What up?
Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
Brightce to my man b Wy. And the Panthers. Number
one is those uniforms. They should never wear those uniforms again,
those are the spicable like the ones that the Steelers
wore on TV against the Packers. You deserve to lose
by ten and get jazz. Be like that when you
wear stop, just stop it. Just stop. If you want
to go with the orange crush or the old Patriot
uniforms or the old Dolphin pure Awkland, or you want
(01:23:15):
to do something like that and color rush, get rid
of these color Rush uniforms. They all look stupid. But
when you look at this division, this is a big
week today. The Packers could fall again. The Lions can
fall a game, the Bears can fall a game. Minnesota
can move up again. They could they get this dub.
And it's also this also had to head. Now remember
(01:23:36):
this is a this is the division game. This will
this will count when it comes down to the stretch
because if the Vikings hold on and beat the lines
today the Lions didn't fall to five and three. The
Vikers now go to form four. Now they're just a
game behind them with a victory against them head to head,
JJ is coming the same the season for the Vikings
(01:23:57):
and for Minnesota.
Speaker 1 (01:23:58):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (01:23:58):
You wear it on your sleeve and that that's the
way it should be.
Speaker 1 (01:24:01):
I've always said this and this is no knock on
people that like to define themselves as a sports journalist.
To me, sports journalist is an oxymoron. Okay, if you
really want to be a journalist, you're not in sports.
If you've made sports your career, you're there because you're
a sports fan.
Speaker 2 (01:24:22):
Okay, you're a sports fan.
Speaker 1 (01:24:24):
My father, the late great Bill Hartman, once said to me,
he goes son, talking sports is not a real job,
and he said it half chess, right, And I said, Dad,
you're absolutely right. But it's a hell of a way
to make a living.
Speaker 2 (01:24:40):
I'm telling you, if you can pull it off, you
definitely want to do that, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
So again, we're watching this Panthers Packers game that is
just the one game, seven to six, three minutes to
go in the third quarter. The Packers can't get anything
done and the Panthers now have a second and goal
at the Green Bay seven yard line, trying to increase
their lead. Daddle's been the story here. He has eighty
nine yards on the ground and a score. Bryce hngreally
(01:25:06):
hasn't done much in terms of passing yards, but so
far the Panthers have been able to hold off the Packers.
As love is fifteen to twenty three, one hundred and
sixty five yards and a pick. Not exactly what the
Packers are thinking he would do today. Chargers still trying to,
you know, put the Titans away. Statistically, this has been
(01:25:27):
a one sided game in favor of the Chargers, who
were huge favorites in this game. By the way, again,
I was listening to the Morning show now he's talking
about They were talking about you know, what do you need?
They always have that insider. It comes on, you know
when he goes, we need dogs to cover. We need
dogs to cover. One of the big dogs. We need
to cover. And they haven't done us any favors this year?
Are the Titans? Well, right now the Titans are finding
(01:25:50):
a way to hang in against the heavily favored LA Chargers.
Speaker 3 (01:25:54):
Really fat, really quick about dogs covering. Did you guys
see this fourteen even spread for the ram Yes?
Speaker 6 (01:26:00):
What's that about?
Speaker 3 (01:26:01):
Like it and a half one? I saw a fourteen flight.
I had to zoom in on my screen to make
sure that my glasses was working. As the kind of
number of staffers put up this year.
Speaker 1 (01:26:11):
By the way, Pukaku will be back seventeen touchdowns, two picks,
All right, that's what I mean, they're five r Is
he in the MVP conversation potential?
Speaker 3 (01:26:22):
Well he should be.
Speaker 1 (01:26:23):
But we I mean, we've been talking, Daniel Jones talking,
we want new STAPs, seventeen touchdowns, two picks.
Speaker 3 (01:26:30):
You think they cover that you're talking about they need
dogs to cover I know they. I know they need
that to cover big time. They need the Saints to
cover that big time. You know how much money is
rolling Look at these huge dogs. No one's betting on
the Saints, No one's betting on the Titans. Why would
you Why would you put your money on those teams?
They are bad teams. But that is a big number,
(01:26:53):
huge number. Fourteen and a half. I got fourteen and
a half right now. I even took the lines that
they on a straight up on a plus three eighty?
Did I put money on the Vikings to win outright
straight up with by the eighty?
Speaker 1 (01:27:04):
Here's what, hey, here's one thing I cannot understand. How
do we get stuck with two dog primetime games?
Speaker 3 (01:27:11):
Tonight?
Speaker 1 (01:27:12):
You got the Seahawks at the Commanders and then Monday
night Cardinals at the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (01:27:18):
And I guarantee you bow games are gonna be great.
I'm the NFL. Well, listen, we didn't. I don't know
about great. How about competitive?
Speaker 1 (01:27:25):
Great's not a word I would use to me.
Speaker 3 (01:27:27):
Competitive is a great football game is better than the
team losing by seventeen close so close to me does
make great because at least you're going to stay in
it to just to see how this thing turns out.
I think the Seahawks ind come in. You got the
Seahawks coming on.
Speaker 1 (01:27:42):
Oh, we got a fumble by the Lions, ball punched
out on a big run in the Vikings cover. Wow,
the Vikings are doing a number on the Lions offense
in this game. So the Lions, uh cough it up
the fumble in their own territory and the Vikings have.
Speaker 3 (01:28:01):
Look holding it out there. Look he's holding it boom
And that's a veteran. That's a veteran. And and honestly,
this is football karma. They just called the Plass pass incomplete.
That would have give him the Vikings a first down
to Justin Jefferson. From McCarthy to Justin Jefferson, it's clearly
a catch. You called it a catch on the field.
There was nothing in the review that would make you
overturn it. They overturned. It made it fourth and seven,
(01:28:22):
So then the Vikings had to punt and then right now, boom,
Vikers get the ball back.
Speaker 1 (01:28:27):
Karma man sports Karma happened to tell you what. Texans
are leading the Broncos still. They just kicked a field
goal fifteen to seven. That's all field goals by the
way for the Texans. They can't get the ball in
the end zone. C J. Stroud went out. Davis Mills
is in how many years has Davis Mills been around?
Speaker 3 (01:28:44):
I thought his grandson just got drafted. He's been in
the league forever.
Speaker 2 (01:28:48):
Just he's like that guy's name pops up out of no,
He's like.
Speaker 3 (01:28:53):
He's only twenty.
Speaker 1 (01:28:55):
Yeah, he's.
Speaker 3 (01:28:58):
Type up. Is not as you think. Now, that's one
of them Dominican A Cooban birth certificates that the baseball
players break up. There no way Stanford anyone.
Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
When he came out, you know, like the first time
he came in, I'm like, where do you play the Stanford?
Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
I go, I have zero recall.
Speaker 11 (01:29:15):
Team.
Speaker 3 (01:29:15):
I think it wasn't very good three and nine, like
three years you would still know who to quarterback. I
just learned just now that Davis Mills played the stand.
Is it Tanner McKee McKee or who am I thinking of?
Speaker 8 (01:29:26):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:29:26):
Who am I thinking?
Speaker 3 (01:29:27):
Toby Gerhart?
Speaker 1 (01:29:28):
Honestly, you know the the other guy, the all my
other favorite quarterback who played at a big school and
you have no recall events Kirk kurbs Street at Ohio State, right, Yeah,
I mean remember, I mean I have watched Ohio State
football for sixty years and I have zero recall.
Speaker 2 (01:29:45):
And I looked it up. He was a starter for
a year like there, and I'm.
Speaker 7 (01:29:48):
Like, Tanner McKee no calls played for Stanford and they
just pluck him out of Stanford even they go, they
go ninety nine because you're smart. You're smart, and you're
probably the quarterback positions playing pretty well Stanford and everything else.
Speaker 3 (01:30:01):
Vanderbilt school, you're gonna get us smart because they don't
care about football, so you still got to kind of
be smart to go play there. They don't care about football.
Speaker 7 (01:30:08):
Davis Mills, Tanne McKee are the guys that played for
bad Stanford teams.
Speaker 6 (01:30:12):
I believe I could be wrong, all.
Speaker 3 (01:30:14):
Right, so I could. I know, Richard Sherman's the Stanford guy,
Andrew Love Toby Caerhart that was during the Harbaugh and
then first part of David Shaw's great run. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:30:24):
Yeah, well Davis Mills can't score, by the way, guys.
Speaker 1 (01:30:27):
You know, one of the things I'm keeping my eye
on right now on the college side is the Heisman chase. Again.
How many people remember Fernando Mendoza as the coach I
the quarterback at CAL. I know, quarterback, he was at
Collen and had some pretty good numbers the last couple
of years. But this year twenty five touchdowns, four picks.
They put the beat down. I love, I love what
(01:30:48):
Signetti has done in he he's doing what Bill Snyder
did at Kansas State. You know, for years they were
the doormat and when they got good, Bill Snyder rolled
it up.
Speaker 2 (01:30:57):
I mean he's like, we got rolled up on for decades.
Now it's our turn.
Speaker 7 (01:31:02):
And that's exactly he did it overnight, though, Like it
took Bill Snyder a couple of years to get going,
and once he was zero to hero in one year.
Speaker 1 (01:31:09):
Yeah, unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (01:31:10):
He even better than last year.
Speaker 2 (01:31:12):
He's sixty four years ortal all the way.
Speaker 1 (01:31:14):
I mean, the guy was at Elon, he was at
you know all these you know, James Madison, but the
idea of being a doormat as Indiana football has been
for so long and getting their brains beaten in. You know,
Michigan Ohio State to put up sixty on them many times.
Now they have an opportunity to do that, and they're
doing it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:32):
I love it. I love it because that was a
pretty close game. It was it was closed, but Maryland
I think overhyped going into this team. They were rolling
it up at the end. Yeah, well that's what.
Speaker 6 (01:31:43):
You're supposed to listen.
Speaker 3 (01:31:45):
I'm a big proponent for if you can't stop me,
it is not my job to stop scored because I
cannot stand he ran died. I don't care if it's
Pop Warner now, I don't I'm serious. I don't care.
If it's AU basketball. You're in competition. If my kid
gets in the car with me, If Journey or Cameron
(01:32:05):
ever gets in the backseat and crying indead they ran
to score up, I'm taking them off the team. I'm
taking you off the team. You can't play no more
because you're not built for this. Yeah, they rolled the
score upon you. You couldn't stop Number twelve. He kept
scoring on you. He what is he supposed to do
not score for your ego and your feelings get especially
(01:32:25):
now in college where everybody's paid. Nah, right, if I
could put sixty on you, I mean, because you know
we're gonna do when it comes down to the twelve
teams team Steve, oh, well, they didn't score this or
they didn't score.
Speaker 1 (01:32:35):
That in My favorite was when Buddy Ryan had Randal
Conneham throw that touchdown against the Cowboys and Tom Landry
to roll it up. Landry was so steaming Buddy Ryan,
It's like, af you.
Speaker 3 (01:32:46):
Af You's the famous line because I couldn't go for two.
Speaker 2 (01:32:49):
Yeah, And how many times over the years did you
roll it up on the Eagles man?
Speaker 11 (01:32:53):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:32:53):
Yeah, yeah, we remember that. It's okay for you to
roll it up and not us screw you.
Speaker 6 (01:32:59):
Yeah, it all right.
Speaker 1 (01:33:00):
Coming up on the other side, we'll find out here
in the no huddle hour if we're gonna get some
exciting finishes around the NFL for all the latest, keep
it here.
Speaker 9 (01:33:09):
This is end Zone Radio. JJ McCarthy takes the snap,
short drop, runs out to the right. What's he gonna do.
He's gonna run ten five end zone touchdo.
Speaker 11 (01:33:20):
Peez.
Speaker 9 (01:33:21):
JJ McCarthy with another rushing touchdown this season, and the
Vikings have a twenty three fourteen lead.
Speaker 1 (01:33:30):
That's k FAN one hundred point three FM Vikings Radio
Network twenty four to fourteen with the extra point, and
the Vikings have the ball ten point lead on the
road against the Lions six minutes ago in the third quarters.
So at least from a oh, I don't know, a
spiritual standpoint, there's definitely been an up lifting of the
(01:33:51):
entire effort by the Vikings with JJ McCarthy back in
at quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (01:33:55):
So a positive move today.
Speaker 1 (01:33:57):
And as you mentioned earlier, right now now the Bears
are losing to the Bengals twenty seven to twenty four,
Vikings are winning at the Lions, and yeah, the Packers
are losing at home to the Panthers. Unfortunately for the Panthers,
they missed an extra point, so instead of an eight
point lead, it's a seven point lead minute to go
in the third quarter. Panthers lead at Green Bay thirteen
(01:34:20):
to six. So the Vikings obviously looking up at the
entire division going into this day. But that would be
huge for the Vikings if you.
Speaker 2 (01:34:30):
Win and everyone else loses and in one week you
make up a lot of grounding.
Speaker 3 (01:34:34):
There it is, and you talk about a spiritual uplifting.
And I mentioned this before. You guys were trying to
you guys are trying to like downplay this. Players know, man,
do they think he's the guy?
Speaker 8 (01:34:46):
Do they know?
Speaker 3 (01:34:46):
Yes? But you gotta get him in the field. And
he was hurting his fault. He didn't ask like, hey,
hurt me, guys, so I can't play. All right, I
don't want to play. The guy got hurt and they
need to just kind of ease through this. Carson wentz,
Poor poor og Man just didn't have an arm and
went out there and he came out and he was
cool to say, No one made me do nothing. I
played because I wanted to play. I can see the
(01:35:08):
inn coming down the window one last day in the sun, man.
But you can see the energy of the team when
they know, okay, we got the young buck in. But
I'll tell you this, Steve, I guarantee you as a
veteran or two this week that went over to him
and say, hey, man, look okay, all right, it's time now.
Enough enough of the little injuries, enough of a little
nick nagget you gotta, you know, kind of pull you
in the corner. Go hey, buddy, let's go now, because
you gotta get on the field. You gotta get on
(01:35:28):
the field. But you be the leader again. We got
you got to be on that, but you got to
do your thing.
Speaker 11 (01:35:33):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:35:33):
You know, week after week we were saying, are the
Colts for real? Colts for real?
Speaker 1 (01:35:36):
They are getting steamrolled today by the Steelers defense twenty
four to seven. Steelers dominant. They've dominated this game, and
it's gonna be interesting for the Colts coming out of
this game.
Speaker 3 (01:35:49):
All right, So, I mean they could have forord lots well,
no one's embarrassed last week, yeah, but I mean this
is this is kind of the last four weeks the
Colts scored thirty one, thirty eight, and thirty eight, and
today they have seven.
Speaker 2 (01:36:07):
Now you look ahead of their schedule.
Speaker 1 (01:36:09):
Next week, they have a home game against the Falcons,
and then they're at Kansas City that's coming up a
bye week, by the way, take that's gonna be a
bye week, and then at case obviously Casey one of
the best defenses around.
Speaker 3 (01:36:22):
So well, we'll see how this plays out for the Colts.
Speaker 1 (01:36:24):
I mean, right now, they're sitting in a pretty good position,
even lots by the way Bears have retaken the lead
thirty one to twenty seven on the road against the Bengals.
Begans just don't have any defense at all. No Joe
flaccol you want to hear some numbers. Flacco in this
game is thirteen of eighteen for two hundred and thirty
(01:36:46):
one yards. That's twelve point eight yards in attempt, two
touchdowns and no picks. Who is this running back for
the Bears? Speaking speaking of over money? What is money?
Speaker 4 (01:36:59):
Kyle guy?
Speaker 8 (01:37:00):
He is like.
Speaker 2 (01:37:02):
Scarlett thirty four yards rushing.
Speaker 6 (01:37:07):
Running backs in the Big Ten?
Speaker 4 (01:37:08):
He might be the starter.
Speaker 3 (01:37:10):
Listen, when when you when you're hungry and somebody puts
food in front of you, what do you do you eat?
And this is a guy who doesn't have a huge contract,
he's not making a ton of money, and he's got
an opportunity to carry the ball against a susceptible defense.
What do you do? There's food there, man, and you're hungry.
(01:37:32):
There you go, You got you gotta eat, man. But
just to this Colts in this in this Steelers game,
and just for full context, you know me, Steve, I
love full context. The Colts. Listen, you're gonna run into
a Sunday where you're gonna you run into a bus salt.
They've been doing it, and not to mention, not just
the last four games they started off with thirty three.
Speaker 8 (01:37:54):
Scoring.
Speaker 3 (01:37:54):
They've been scoring all year long. You get caught against
a team that's a veteran lating defense, they got a
veteran Hall of Fame coach. They got embarrassed on Monday
night against the Sunday night, Monday night, whatever night it
was on National TV against the Packers coming back home
i AAU. You kind of could see this could be
a trap game for the Coats and that you would
(01:38:14):
see the Steelers kind of blow up a little bit.
Plus everyone's talking about did you see the percentages of
the Ravens to win the NF the AFC, They're at
fifty one percent. They have the highest percentage going into
Thursday night to beat up on the Dolphins to win
that division. You don't think the Steelers know that, they
(01:38:36):
know they're coming and they still got games against them,
and you want to get You don't want to go
to four and four while they're sitting now with three
and five. That's only a game difference. You want to
try to stay ahead of the official.
Speaker 1 (01:38:46):
Tell me about the Steelers because I picked them to
you the playoffs this year, as you know, yeah you did.
Speaker 3 (01:38:51):
I mean I thought they'd happen because Tom.
Speaker 1 (01:38:55):
This is the kind of game again coming off an
ugly loss where Tom one has found a way to
rally the troops. Remember the Steelers going this game on
a two game losing right right, and haven't looked good.
And they come out with a huge effort today of
dominating defensively, especially against this Colts team. By the way,
I mean, the Colts have been so dominant offensively, you
(01:39:16):
know what the number I mean obviously a top scoring
team in the NFL. You know, was the number two
scoring team in the NFL going into this week, behind
the Colts.
Speaker 3 (01:39:24):
Uh, the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Dallas, Dallas Dolls.
Speaker 2 (01:39:29):
Unfortunately, the Cowboys have also given up the most points.
Speaker 1 (01:39:31):
Right right, so that's not gonna work. I had a
question for Eddy, I didn't get a chance to throw
at you. What what do we view the Packers? Ass, Well,
that's a great question. I mean, they were sitting as
the one seed going into this week. Two field goals
to me after they lit up the Steelers last week.
When you when you think of Jordan Love two years
ago and that insane finish that he had to the season,
(01:39:54):
and then they go on the road against the Cowboys
and everything else up in San fran again, and then
you know we had to say, all right, look, okay,
I mean this same thing we said about Jayden Daniels
this year.
Speaker 3 (01:40:05):
Okay, Jordan Love first year's look at it.
Speaker 1 (01:40:07):
I mean we knew this. It was an upgrade from
what we had seen from Aaron Rodgers the year before.
But let's let's, you know, put the brakes on. Let's
see where he goes. And last year, yeah, they made
the playoffs, but he wasn't quite as good like c. J. Strout,
very similar situation there. But this year, to me, he
is showing a level of inconsistency that would be of
(01:40:28):
concern to me if I'm at Lafleur and the Packers'
coaching staff, because you would feel like he's comfortable. He's
been in this system now for several years, because obviously
he was serving his apprenticeship behind Aaron Rodgers before he
got an opportunity to play, and you would think this
is the year he should that third year where he
takes that big leap forward and he hasn't. Now it's
(01:40:50):
deceiving because the Packers again, we're five to one and
one going into this game against the Packers look.
Speaker 3 (01:40:55):
Great against this Dealer's defense. That's embarrassing Danny Dimes today. Yeah,
and that's why I asked the question, boy, I see
you got your headset on, like where are you at
bo like because I'm trying to I don't want to
diss them because they you know, they got one loss,
but we saw we saw against the Steelers you come home.
Speaker 12 (01:41:11):
It is.
Speaker 6 (01:41:11):
It kind of just one of those letdown.
Speaker 3 (01:41:12):
As I said earlier in the show, we're the Packers,
we got the green Gee, here comes the Carolina Blue panther.
Bryce Young's just getting we can just show up today
and we should get this one.
Speaker 4 (01:41:22):
I mean, I feel like Green Bay is kind of
consistently inconsistent, Like that's the best way to describe it.
I mean, I think Jordan Love is a top fifty.
Speaker 3 (01:41:32):
Yeah, it's coming back, it's coming back.
Speaker 1 (01:41:39):
That's yeah, there's a flag if the flags way back come.
Speaker 12 (01:41:44):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:41:44):
That was a spectacle.
Speaker 6 (01:41:47):
Beautiful. That was beautiful.
Speaker 3 (01:41:50):
Hey, listen, way if JJ can honestly help turn if
they turn this thing around in Minnesota. It's a long year.
We had ten weeks left, guys, we we legitimately have
ten weeks left of this season, so much can happen.
But I like what I'm saying, is it nine weeks?
Nine weeks? This week a team?
Speaker 6 (01:42:09):
There you go, so what week nine?
Speaker 3 (01:42:12):
This is week nine, week nine, so nine weeks left.
But it's just it's a testament to how long the
season is. It's a testament to just having, you know,
being locked in as a player, being locked in as
a friend. Once again, I'm we're looking up here into
the first quarter. Texans. No, no, no starting quarterback. But
this defense is locked in, top five defense in this league,
(01:42:33):
and bo Knicks can't move the ball and scores at
seven points on the board, and it just put up
a graphic.
Speaker 1 (01:42:38):
This is where this is where again they have stolen
a few games where all of a sudden he has done.
Speaker 11 (01:42:45):
Well.
Speaker 1 (01:42:45):
I again, but he's been able to produce latent games.
So they're only really down a score eight points started
the fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:42:51):
There they all right, what's fun?
Speaker 1 (01:42:55):
I know I have the Broncos in the AFC Championship game,
as you know, let's find out what is trending right now, Montcy,
how are your multiple fantasy teams?
Speaker 3 (01:43:06):
And Pat Mahos will never play in another Super Bowl? Again,
those are your picks?
Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
Well, was wrong?
Speaker 3 (01:43:13):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (01:43:14):
Has he played in the super Bowl since last year?
Speaker 1 (01:43:16):
I'm brill wow.
Speaker 3 (01:43:22):
A super Bowl since last year?
Speaker 2 (01:43:24):
But he has no fact he is a ragning super
Bowl participant.
Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
Again I said in his last Super Bowl? Has he
played in the Super Bowl since?
Speaker 5 (01:43:38):
Okay, we let it slide because he's been around for
so long, Jay, we let it slide.
Speaker 2 (01:43:42):
You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 6 (01:43:44):
Kind of right about what has he played in this
Has he played.
Speaker 3 (01:43:48):
Played in the super Bowl since last year?
Speaker 2 (01:43:50):
I kid, I can't.
Speaker 5 (01:43:51):
Also, if we want to play that game, sure, sure,
Lord have mercy. Okay, guys, some of these games are
are really intense. As for my fantasy teams, you know,
they're doing pretty well aside from oh yeah, Jonathan Taylor,
oh boy, John give it up for the Steelers and
I think VJ you're onto something that they're paying attention
(01:44:12):
to what's happening in their division.
Speaker 2 (01:44:13):
All of a sudden, where the Ravens.
Speaker 5 (01:44:15):
Are like, why are you guys, why are you guys
putting them up so high when there's so much left
in the season, you know, so maybe he said I
took offense to that, and here we are Steelers proving that.
Speaker 2 (01:44:26):
Yeah, just because we gave up thirty three points.
Speaker 5 (01:44:27):
The last two weeks doesn't mean we don't have it
in us to be a defensive team, which we have
been for years. Steelers all over the Colts. Twenty four
to ten is the score. Daniel Jones has thrown two interceptions.
He has not thrown a touchdown pass in this game.
Texans playing officially without CJ. Strout for the rest of
the game. He was ruled out with the concussion after
taking a hard hit, and the Texans are up on
the Broncos fifteen to seven.
Speaker 2 (01:44:48):
They're about to start this the fourth quarter with eight
minutes to go.
Speaker 5 (01:44:52):
The Giants in the end zone as Jackson Dart with
a rushing touchdown cuts their deficit, but San Francisco is
up twenty seven to seventeen.
Speaker 2 (01:45:00):
Falcons are trying to get back in it.
Speaker 5 (01:45:03):
They're only down a score, but it just seems like
they're struggling to get in the end zone. Patriots are
up twenty four to seventeen, still early in the fourth
quarter halfway through the fourth between the Chargers and the Titans,
where Ali is up twenty seven to seventeen, Panthers on
top of the Packers thirteen to six. Also, Jordan Love
should have been picked off in the end zone. You
guys were getting into your conversation. You didn't see it,
(01:45:24):
the easiest type of interception and the Panthers player just
didn't catch it. It was like, this is too easy,
this is too easy, and didn't catch it. But Jordan
Love should have thrown an interception in the end zone.
Panthers are up thirteen to six, nine minutes to go
in that one, and the Vikings in line starting the
fourth quarter right now with Minnesota up twenty four to seventeen.
Bengals are also starting the fourth quarter right now, losing
(01:45:44):
to the Bears though thirty one to twenty seven. When
it comes to college football, Auburn fired their head coach,
Hugh Freeze, but also in Nebraska, quarterback Dylan Rayola is
out for the rest of the year with a broken fibula.
He suffered this last night against USC.
Speaker 1 (01:46:00):
You guys, very very basy day after a late night
by watching the l A Dodger fans celebrate last night
my station k t l A. We had reporters all
over the city last night. Police had to come in.
It sort of keeps some order, which is totally you
don't want things get out of him, of course not,
(01:46:20):
but they all seemed in a collective state of shock,
like did that just happen?
Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
Did we just actually steal.
Speaker 2 (01:46:26):
We couldn't, and we were like, is this does this
really just happen?
Speaker 3 (01:46:32):
The World Series? That they didn't steal nothing, guys, they
went out and won. They took it and won the
damn game. It does feel like were pockets of the blue.
Speaker 4 (01:46:41):
When when I watched the when I watched when I
watched the highlight of Alejandro Kirk grounding out to Mooki
and then him turning to it still feels like it's
a live game to me, Like, I'm my stomach isn't
a not watching it unfold? Like I feel like the
guy's gonna score and something's gonna happen. But it's like, no,
it's a highlight of the Dodgers winning the World Series.
Speaker 3 (01:47:00):
Like the thing about.
Speaker 1 (01:47:02):
Again, the thing about baseball, and when you have those circumstances,
I mean, you are hanging on every everything.
Speaker 3 (01:47:08):
I mean, the trauma is every one freakinge swing.
Speaker 1 (01:47:12):
One swing, as we saw with Rojas tying the game
yard one swing.
Speaker 3 (01:47:16):
I mean you got you got Hoffing on the mountd
right two outs away. The place is just rock and.
Speaker 1 (01:47:23):
You're like, Okay, if he gets fast, it's gonna come
down to him and show hey for the final show.
Hey gonna get the final out of the world series.
Roll hots the number nine and he hits a home
run and the place goes silent. That's that's the suddenness
of basement.
Speaker 6 (01:47:40):
My wife is listening right now.
Speaker 3 (01:47:41):
She gets back me on this. When when Kirk comes
up to the plate, I literally looked at her. She's
got her eyes are welling. She gets very emotional about
her teams, and I always support her because I ain't
got no beef with the Dodges. I was riding with
the Dodgers. I thought they would repeat all season long
and went off. I looked right at her, and I
go ground play, ground ground ball, double play, whirld series over,
(01:48:01):
and y'a'm a modo. People always said to remember he
saws Kurt's bat in half. That's a pitch. Guys like that,
that that's a pitch you throw. Remember Marianna Rivere used
to do that. He saw your bat in half, he'd
make you chip that day. And when you see Moot grounded,
when you see Moo getting the glove, and Move's like, no,
I'm I'm taking this the second.
Speaker 6 (01:48:22):
I'm getting this over to Freddy Freeman.
Speaker 1 (01:48:24):
It was just I just cleaning up, and they pitched
around him right the four straight balls, and I was
saying the same thing we were on the TV. Said
this is perfect. You set up the double play and
you got a slow, stumpy guy. If he hits the ball, run,
if he hits the ball on the ground, I said,
game over, Game over.
Speaker 3 (01:48:45):
And he did it right. Good stuff. Kirk was no, no,
Kirk was listen the dog the Jays. They could have
won it, but guess what they didn't do.
Speaker 6 (01:48:57):
They didn't finish the nil.
Speaker 1 (01:48:58):
You got to finish, is it right?
Speaker 3 (01:49:00):
If you want to knock it, you want to be
the champs, you gotta knock them out. They're not giving
it to you.
Speaker 4 (01:49:04):
I also hate to interrupt this wonderful baseball conversation, but
Ben Johnson just called a really fun play in this
game in Chicago. Caleb took the snap through it across
the field to Tyson Bagent, who had lined up at
wide receiver, who threw it back to Caleb who picked
up a first down running the ball that way.
Speaker 1 (01:49:20):
So they got a field goal out way. They got
a field goal. So the Bears now lead by seven
thirty four twenty seven. The Bears lead with twelve minutes
to go in the fourth quarter, Vikings and Lions. Vikings
still have that seven point lead with thirteen minutes ago,
and the rookie R. J. Harvey has gotten in the
end zone for the Broncos. All right, you're gonna go
(01:49:41):
for two.
Speaker 6 (01:49:42):
Put the two fingers up now.
Speaker 3 (01:49:43):
I would go for two. No, you can't do that, Steve.
It's twelve.
Speaker 1 (01:49:47):
Because the difference is this, if you don't get it,
a field goal still wins the game for you, does
it not? Yes, Okay, so you know you could tie it.
I'm you know, I'm not a proponent of two point
conversions unless they're absolutely necessary. But I actually think fifteen thirteen,
twelve and a half minutes ago, if you miss the xtra,
(01:50:07):
if you make the X run, you're down one.
Speaker 3 (01:50:09):
My rebuttal to that down figure down too. If they
didn't go kick a field goal. You not have to
score a touchdown to win the game.
Speaker 1 (01:50:19):
Take the well no, no, no, because if they get
a field goal, you're down four instead of three. You
still have great catch in the out wow catch all right,
So they get the two point conversion. Fifteen All now
Texans and the Broncos. And again this has been the
story for bow Knicks this year. His numbers, remember I
told you what, he was two for nine.
Speaker 3 (01:50:40):
What happened all of a sudden.
Speaker 1 (01:50:42):
Bo Nicks is twelve of twenty five two touchdowns in
this game. So Bo Knicks, if he could ever get consistent,
tilphin the Broncos will.
Speaker 3 (01:50:52):
Really be tough.
Speaker 6 (01:50:52):
I feel like I'm watching when Tim t will play
for the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (01:50:55):
You guys remember that year, oh yes, where he did
nothing for three quarters and just would pull these games,
including the playoff quick slant throat against the against the Steelers,
and I just I just don't know how to stay
over Jay.
Speaker 1 (01:51:09):
I was doing the national show here Monday through Friday
with Pat O'Brien during that Tebow year. I can tell
you this, in all my years of radio, that's a
lot of years I have never seen. I mean, our
phone lines were jammed before we were on the air.
People the people, well, they either were all in or
(01:51:30):
all out. There was no on the butt, no gray
area as far as Tebow is concerned. And it was
unreal that like when they had that what six in
a row or whatever it was, and he was finding
ways to win and everything else.
Speaker 3 (01:51:42):
But I never ever have.
Speaker 1 (01:51:45):
Seen more reaction, more people wanting to talk about anybody
than that run by Tebow. Unbelievable. Forty nine ers are
doing a number on the Giants. Uh, this is a
game that you know the forty nine ers, by the way,
VJ with a victory today get to six and three
very much in the playoff mix without Rock Purty. Kristian
(01:52:07):
McCaffrey's had a really nice game today. Ninety seven yards
on the ground, sixty seven yards receiving, so that's one
hundred and sixty four total yards, a couple of touchdowns,
Mac Jones nineteen to twenty four to two thirty five,
two touchdowns and a no interception. So forty nine Ers
lead that game thirty four now to seventeen over the Giants.
(01:52:29):
And that is a route four minutes to go in
the game. Okay, Colts are trying to get back. No,
they just turned it over.
Speaker 3 (01:52:36):
This game's over.
Speaker 1 (01:52:36):
Yeah, game's Withano. Jones is just getting beat up in
this game. All right, here's our game that's going to close.
Falcons and Patriots. The Falcons have come all the way back.
It's twenty four to seventeen. Patriots. They were in control early.
They have a third and goal at the New England
eight yard line four and a half minutes to go
in the fourth quarters, looking for the tying score. Michael
(01:53:00):
Penick throws the end zone a little too high, all right,
So it's fourth down, all right, So you don't go
with the field goal, you go for the touch.
Speaker 6 (01:53:08):
It's four minutes. You only have two timeouts, uh man.
Speaker 1 (01:53:12):
And you're on the road.
Speaker 3 (01:53:12):
By the way, I would go for this right here
because if you don't get it, you pin them deep.
Speaker 1 (01:53:17):
Although they really have done a number on New England
off right a second the second half. No, they've they've
given up three points. This is what this is my
point about.
Speaker 3 (01:53:24):
Drake may like he he fumbles the ball that ends
the first half, and then in the second half he
hasn't done much. He's done nothing. This defense, which was
actually the number four rate defense in the league going
into last weekend. I'm not sure where they were this
week has been able to hold this defense down. Now
fourth and goal, I just think you go for this year.
Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
They are going for it right now and Penick's looking
for the end zone and it.
Speaker 6 (01:53:44):
Got a touch cot touch touch down on the USC.
Speaker 1 (01:53:49):
All right, there was a one hand catch. This was
a delayed call to see if he got both feet down.
We're gonna watch a replay here in the second phenomena
on one handed catch by Drake London out of best
seat looking at it, Michael Penix Junior. So we're gonna
get a replay here shortly, but it was did he
get both feet down?
Speaker 3 (01:54:09):
But he did it?
Speaker 1 (01:54:09):
Look right there, there's one two and yeah, that's a percent.
So they're an extra point a way of tying this
game with about four and a half minutes to go
in this game. So they come all the way back
and press of This is again a Falcons team that
desperately needs a win today.
Speaker 3 (01:54:28):
They don't want to go to three and five. Well,
especially going off of what they looked like last that
was bad and I'm not trying to big my Dolphins up.
We were TERRIBI get it. We're not a good play you.
You didn't think they were going to lose like that
at home last week.
Speaker 1 (01:54:39):
No huddle hours heating up, guys, because the Packers right
now trying to tie up this game against the Panthers,
have a second and goal at the Carolina three yard line.
Because the Panthers missed the extra point seven instead of eight,
So it's thirteen to six.
Speaker 3 (01:54:54):
Just missed the extra point. You gotta be kill No,
you gotta be kidding me. Oh no, wow, we've seen
that a couple of sit just missed the extra point.
Speaker 6 (01:55:05):
Oh my goodness, no, boy a.
Speaker 1 (01:55:08):
So that means indeed that the lead holds up right now.
Patriots lead the Falcons twenty four to twenty three. Still
plenty of time left in this one.
Speaker 8 (01:55:18):
All right.
Speaker 1 (01:55:19):
We got a lot of things happening, which games will
come down to the finish line.
Speaker 3 (01:55:24):
Find out by keeping it right here.
Speaker 1 (01:55:25):
This is end zone radio, No huddle hour. Three Receivers
wide left is Knicks is in the shotgun.
Speaker 3 (01:55:30):
Shotgun snap bounces around.
Speaker 1 (01:55:32):
Protection is great, throws the ball. He's got a wide
open receiver.
Speaker 3 (01:55:34):
Harvey the goal line touchdown.
Speaker 9 (01:55:37):
Denver Henry toe toe beating on the play twenty seven
yards Nicks to Harvey.
Speaker 3 (01:55:45):
The protection was great for both.
Speaker 1 (01:55:48):
That's KOA eight fifty AM ninety four point one fam Broncos.
They added a two point conversion that game tied Broncos
at the Texans inside ten minutes to go in the
fourth quarter. Once again, this is End Zone Radio. We're
in the Fox Sports Radio studios. With the iHeartRadio app,
you can stream us wherever you happen to be. Catch

(01:56:09):
twenty four to seven and the new and approved iHeartRadio app.
Just search Fox Sports Radio on the app to stream
us live all day every day, and be sure to
select Fox Sports Radio is one of your presets in
the iHeart app, so you always pop up at the
top of your screen. All right, So, as you mentioned,
Broncos Texans tied at fifteen. The Falcons after missing the
(01:56:31):
extra point, we're able to stop the Patriots. So the
Falcons take over right now with two twenty two to go,
and they just got called for a false start. So
again the Falcons at the very least trying to get
into field goal range to take the lead. That could
have tied up but missed the extra point, which always
puts extra pressure on your kicker because you just missed
(01:56:54):
an extra point and now you're being called on to
potentially kick a game winning field goal. Well, meanwhile, the
Chargers trying to close out the Titans has not been
easy for the Chargers today. Statistically dominant, but the scoreboard
twenty seven to twenty. Chargers leave the Titans inside the
two minute warning. Chargers have the ball a third and
(01:57:14):
one at the Tennessee thirty five yard line. But we're
keeping our eye here on this Falcons team. Michael Pennix
looking for a little magic here. VJ.
Speaker 3 (01:57:22):
Now this some magic. Just make throws like he just
did right there on a rope. To Drake London. Hey, listen,
I've been talking about Drake London for about three years.
I loved him at USC. I thought he was great.
Speaker 1 (01:57:33):
Emery got hurt his last year and he got still
in All American even though he missed what the last
five games.
Speaker 3 (01:57:38):
Big, He's fast, he was great routes, he's he's a
quiet Guy's not a diva. They have to figure out
a way though, to like really feature him as the
bona fide number one, because I think they're still trying
to figure it out there in Atlanta. And I'm not
worried about the kicker man, you missed the extra point.
You gotta go to him and say, hey, hey, buddy,
we're gonna need you. You're fine, You're gonna need you.
(01:57:59):
But how about Bryce Young trying to lead two minute
Warner trying to lead his guys thirteen to thirteen up
on the road at Green Bay today too.
Speaker 1 (01:58:07):
So we also have theold Lions right now down seven
with seven and a half minutes to go. They're down
to the Minnesota thirteen yard line right now looking to
tie up this game. So yeah, this week, I'm like
last week it was just one of those bad weeks.
This week is gonna be good. So we have a
tie game Broncos in Texans. We got a one point
(01:58:29):
game Patriots and Falcons, tie game between the Packers, Panthers
and the Packers, and a couple of seven point games
with the Lions, Vikings and the Bears and Bengals.
Speaker 3 (01:58:39):
All right, Titans cover. That game has just gone to
a final twenty seven to twenty for Harball and the Chargers.
So the dog covers. But the dog that was nine
and a half man seven point wins. So the Titans
covered that spread today. But Chargers get the dubb. That
game's gone to a final.
Speaker 1 (01:58:53):
All right. That was a really weird look like a
false start or an off side in the Bengals Falcons game.
And then a late flag came in from the official.
There was no flag on the play intentional grounding. Oh wow,
wow grounding so well, you gotta get outside of the box.
(01:59:15):
And Pennis apparently just throw the ball right in the.
Speaker 3 (01:59:18):
See that one hundred times was delayed. We see this
all the time when quarterbacks don't have something to watch.
Speaker 1 (01:59:24):
What happened here?
Speaker 2 (01:59:25):
He wasn't it He wasn't expecting the snamm and he
just threw the ball straight down.
Speaker 3 (01:59:29):
Oh come on that in you know, I don't know
these rules. Just you have to just like the human element,
just use NFL chase.
Speaker 1 (01:59:40):
Well, they're not.
Speaker 3 (01:59:41):
I get the rut today, but they got to change that.
That's just stupid. That's all right.
Speaker 1 (01:59:45):
The Bears are trying to put the Bengals away. They
now have a first and goal of the Bengals one
yard line, leading this game thirty four to twenty seven,
five minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Uh, the
Lions golf got sacked, so the line are gonna have
to settle for a field goal attempt. Six and a
half minutes to go here, Vikings leading twenty four to seventeen.
(02:00:07):
The field goal is blocked by the Vikings and they
are running the other way.
Speaker 3 (02:00:12):
Goodbye.
Speaker 1 (02:00:14):
Oh lot about o goof say a touchdown there, but
it was blocked by the Vikings.
Speaker 3 (02:00:20):
And the Vikings have the.
Speaker 1 (02:00:22):
Ball and the lead. And this is the Vikings. Many
of the Lions throughout this game, and they probably deserve
to win, all right. Two minute warning. Panthers and Packers
tied at thirteen. We got some exciting finishes coming out.
Don't go anywhere because we will cover every single second
(02:00:43):
for you.
Speaker 3 (02:00:43):
This is End Zone Radio.
Speaker 1 (02:00:45):
Oh, we got some wild finishes coming up around the
NFL Week nine. Once again, we're in the Fox Sports
Radio studios. All right, let's get you caught up immediately.
Speaker 11 (02:00:56):
Here.
Speaker 1 (02:00:57):
It looks like the Bears have taken care of the Bengals.
They're up fourteen now inside four minutes to go. Vikings
get a field goal extend their lead to ten over
the Lions. Three and a half minutes to go on
that one, but the game that we're watching is the
Panthers and the Packers, and we got one second left
(02:01:17):
and the Panthers are going to attempt a field goal,
and this is going to be if my calculation's right,
about a forty eight yard Yeah, forty eight or forty nine?
Speaker 6 (02:01:28):
Yea field goal to.
Speaker 3 (02:01:30):
No, it's yeah, it's windy. But you know what, this
is a game to me. We were just talking doing
the commercial break. Look at all these unders, Look at
all these dogs cover today, guys.
Speaker 1 (02:01:38):
Yeah, which is a far cry from last week where
the favorites and the overs were just unreal last week.
So yeah, the the people that make money off this,
they need the dogs and they need unders.
Speaker 3 (02:01:49):
I mean, the Broncos were an adult today. Vib Right,
Here we go, forty it's forty eight or forty nine
money game.
Speaker 11 (02:01:55):
Here we go.
Speaker 1 (02:01:56):
The kick is up in the kick game, that is,
the Packers have lost theme to the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 3 (02:02:05):
Wow cover fitz Gerald, who, by the way, missed that extra.
Speaker 2 (02:02:08):
Point earlier in the game, which is the reason why
this game was tied.
Speaker 1 (02:02:13):
Packers should lose for wearing those throwback uniforms look absolutely awful.
Forty nine yard field goal by Fitzgerald wins it, and
that not that cool hands.
Speaker 3 (02:02:24):
Illinois did that last year.
Speaker 1 (02:02:27):
If you were actually wearing a leather helmet, that would
be cool, but they're not.
Speaker 3 (02:02:32):
So the Panthers now are five and four.
Speaker 1 (02:02:35):
So take the Panthers seriously, very much into the playoff reason. Yes,
and the Packers dropped a five to two and one.
So there you go. Wow, big big win for the
Panthers on the road. All right, what else we be watching?
The Texans and the Broncos. This game is still tied
(02:02:55):
and right now the Texans have stopped the Broncos. They
take over on their own twenty seven yard line, still
a little under five minutes to go.
Speaker 2 (02:03:03):
There, Steelers and the Colts.
Speaker 1 (02:03:05):
This has been a one sided game in favor of
the Steelers twenty seven to seventeen. Right now they have
a ten point lead and the ball inside three minutes
to go. Really, the story of this game has been
the Steelers defense. This is a the number one scoring
offense in the league. The Colts, they've been rolling up
huge numbers and Daniel Jones, who came into the day
(02:03:28):
with the number two q QBR in the league rough
day today sacked five times three interceptions one and did
he just throw another one?
Speaker 6 (02:03:40):
That was the third one he had a Joey Porter Jr.
Speaker 1 (02:03:44):
And Jonathan Taylor today nothing forty five yards on fourteen carries,
three point two yards of carry. Longest run from scrimmage
for the Colts today nine yards. So yeah, again, the
Steelers didn't have to do much offensively. But as you mentioned,
you know the Steelers were sitting at four and one. Yeah,
the Ravens stumbling out of the box. All of a
(02:04:04):
sudden you looked at that AFC North and you're like, wow,
I mean, the Steelers could run away with this thing.
And then all of a sudden, boom, back to back
losses got everyone back in the mix. Lamar Jackson comes
back to those four touchdowns against the Dolphins, and all
of a sudden you're thinking, oh, look out. And the
Steelers come away with a big victory today.
Speaker 3 (02:04:23):
Yeah big win, and not just a big win, a
nice bounce back win for being embarrassed the way they
got embarrassed at home. And maybe this could be a
wake up call for the coach that you know, hey,
we've been doing well. We came in seven and one,
but when you come up against a veteran team. We
can't worry about who we beat up on and who
we put points up on. And this year just seems
(02:04:44):
like the kind of year, Steve, that we could go
down the list and look at the teams that have
six wins, seven wins that are in first place. There
are so many injuries and so many backups, like also,
by the way, Davis Mill who probably will start next
week because cushion protocols gotta be anywhere from five to
ten days, which means CJ.
Speaker 6 (02:05:03):
Strow could be up. That would up the number to
now thirteen.
Speaker 1 (02:05:06):
Crazy backup quarterbacks, almost half the teams, half.
Speaker 3 (02:05:10):
The teams at the halfway mark of the season. Guys,
this is this is gonna be the year of attrition.
Man who could just keep their their most important guys?
A love big win for the Steelers. I don't think
it's a question mark for the Colts. This happens. When
you're good, you go on the road. We've already talked
about what the Ravens are doing. We think the Bengels
could still fight a little bit. They can get Joe Burrow.
(02:05:31):
We know the Browns are done, but in this AFC
Chargers get back on the winning track today.
Speaker 6 (02:05:36):
You got this game right now with the Bengals in.
Speaker 3 (02:05:37):
The Texas today, the AFC is to the FC, you
gotta win, you gotta win games, man, because it's gonna
be tight coming. This is gonna be a ten win team.
Speaker 6 (02:05:44):
I think left out of the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (02:05:46):
We forgot to mention, of course, the fact the Patriots
did hang on to beat the Falcons twenty four to
twenty three.
Speaker 3 (02:05:52):
The miss extra point.
Speaker 1 (02:05:55):
Wow, Drake may great day to day nineteen or twenty nine,
two hundred and fifty nine yards and a couple of course,
but they only scored three points in the second half.
So the Falcons found some things out, but unfortunately their
rally was a little bit too short. By the way,
Drake London, this game, nine catches, one hundred and nineteen
yards and three.
Speaker 3 (02:06:13):
Touchdowns should be like that every Sunday.
Speaker 1 (02:06:15):
That's some big fantasy points right there for anyone in
the city with Drake London on their roster. Forty nine
Ers beat the Giants today thirty four to twenty four.
Really not much of a contest and it's only a
matter of time as far as Brian Dable is concerned.
As they go to and seven who's the most believable
team in the NFL?
Speaker 3 (02:06:34):
To you as we sit here at one oh seven
specific time, oh November second, who's the most believable team?
And we can look at a lot of these records
and I'm sorry, guys, don't I don't believe in some
of these teams. I don't and it's gonna play out
as the year. But if I sit here right now,
extsh you my believable.
Speaker 1 (02:06:53):
Team the Philadelphia Eagles too. Okay, all right, because they
are Super Bowl champions. They're running away with this division, right,
I mean, they're really getting no contests and yeah, they've
had a couple of hiccuts with now they've won back
to back games and Saquon Barkley showed up again. If
they get suddenly any you know, semblance of what we
saw a year ago with Saguon Barkley again, before the season,
(02:07:16):
I said, who is the number two? And I said,
the Rams. If Matthew Stafford's happen ch healthy, and look
what he's done, seventeen touchdowns, two picks, they get Pookin
a Koua back and so the Rams right now, Look,
the Seahawks have surprised a few people you know, they're
sitting at fifteen and two right now. The Buccaneers obviously
are sitting at six and two. There's a lot of
(02:07:37):
teams in the Nfcason.
Speaker 3 (02:07:39):
More and I do the Seahawks because the Bucks went
up there and put thirty plus on him and beat
him in the stadium.
Speaker 1 (02:07:43):
So still I'm still leaning Rams okay over the Bucks,
over the Bucks over the Bucks.
Speaker 3 (02:07:47):
Okay. Who's the fool's goal team?
Speaker 11 (02:07:50):
To you?
Speaker 1 (02:07:51):
Who do you look at? You see the record? Would
you go that's not real and it's not gonna last.
There's I think the forty nine ers in one team.
Speaker 11 (02:07:59):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (02:08:00):
Yeah, I think they're being coach world.
Speaker 11 (02:08:03):
They are.
Speaker 1 (02:08:04):
I mean, look, you get a win today against the Giants, Okay,
win and by the way, they are six and one
in conference play. But you know there's six and three
and they've outscored their opponents by six points. Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:08:18):
So I'm just like, yeah, Bears are too easy. That's
low hanging through. I got a different team, And I
know people gonna think I'm just hating and this is
just trust me. I just I just sat and watched
them kind of get gifted a game.
Speaker 4 (02:08:29):
I think I know Steve's actual team. You just won't
say it got the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (02:08:33):
Well, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:08:35):
Yeah, they're they're fake.
Speaker 3 (02:08:37):
They're not fake.
Speaker 4 (02:08:38):
They're fake.
Speaker 1 (02:08:39):
Now they're not fake because somehow bo Nicks fights away.
Speaker 3 (02:08:42):
That's they have the ball right now, Broncos Patriots pick
one Broncos, Broncos and golden the Patriots to you right now? Okay,
the defense is great, but that offense.
Speaker 1 (02:08:57):
I just.
Speaker 4 (02:08:59):
I'm a really actually I think Drake May is what
you say.
Speaker 6 (02:09:02):
You want to break Drake over Bow.
Speaker 3 (02:09:03):
You'll take.
Speaker 6 (02:09:06):
Drake mayover Bownick right now, Steve, right.
Speaker 1 (02:09:08):
Now, yes, I would okay, right now, this week, would
you say this week what we see the season?
Speaker 3 (02:09:13):
This week? I would definitely get a choice to pick
one of those guys to start your franchise this week.
Speaker 2 (02:09:18):
If you ask me this week, who would I start?
I would start Drake May.
Speaker 1 (02:09:22):
Call me. In a couple of years, we'll see how
this all.
Speaker 6 (02:09:24):
But we'll just you know, I'm just going So we
got the two minute.
Speaker 1 (02:09:26):
Warning right now, Broncos with the ball and they're at midfield,
and again this has been the story this Broncos. You're like,
how is this team six and two? They're six and
two because in crunch time, I mean that miracle win
against the Giants, I mean, there was so many weird
things to happen there by the way, the Lions say,
we haven't given up yet. Down ten two minute warning.
(02:09:50):
The Lions have the ball at the Minnesota three yard line,
first and goal. So if they get the touchdown here,
oh they did get a touchdown, they got that tide
of BC. Okay, I missed it. So there you go,
twenty seven to twenty four, and they are not gonna
on side kick.
Speaker 6 (02:10:07):
No, no, you have three timeouts. Why would you win
fifty five left on?
Speaker 8 (02:10:11):
Right?
Speaker 1 (02:10:11):
Here we go, So this is where JJ McCarthy is
going to have to get a few first down. That's
a really good kickoff right there between the goal line
and the five yard line, and that's going nowhere.
Speaker 6 (02:10:22):
Do you know how fun this game is?
Speaker 3 (02:10:23):
Probably for Tom Brady to call Tom Brady and and
and shout out to our guy keV who was just
on the post game last night for the World Series.
And I remember Mark, I said, hold up, he's got
an NFL game tomorrow. How late this he needed to
get out of Toronto to get the where he's got
to be I said, he's got to.
Speaker 1 (02:10:40):
Be in the Northern American area, somewhere like Chicago. He's
got to be in a place that's not far and
happened to be Detroit to come from Runner Bike. All right,
here we go down to the Vikings again, all three
of their timeouts, and we got a minute fifty one
to go right now in the fourth quarter, and the
Vikings need a first down is what they need, and
(02:11:01):
they have a blown play and JJ McCarthy makes the
most of it. That's probably more than he would have
gotten on to carry. He turned the wrong way and
McCarthy is pointing to himself.
Speaker 3 (02:11:12):
On this one.
Speaker 1 (02:11:13):
This is really weird.
Speaker 6 (02:11:14):
Let me see this might be Oh my guy, Yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:11:17):
McCarthy was good because he kind of holy got five
yards on it worked out, honestly, that probably would have
gained more yards than he would have with the handleff
Blue Jerseys. Finally kept his head and he got five
yards out of the play. All right. So again if
the Vikings can, Lion's burning a time out obviously, so
(02:11:37):
the Vikings trying to again get at least one first
down here to try to put away this game. And
Vikings really have dominated most of this game against the Lions.
Lions hanging in at home, and that run is going
to go nowhere on the first name. Yeah, so that
one goes nowhere.
Speaker 2 (02:11:55):
So we got about a third and five right now
for the Vikings. What are he going to call him?
Speaker 1 (02:11:59):
Third and five?
Speaker 6 (02:12:00):
Gonna run the ball, run the ball in punt, Yes,
run the ball and put the.
Speaker 3 (02:12:06):
Balls. Have got some big play, guy, Well, they only
need a field goal to tie the game where they've
been okay, and that's fine. But the game away and
I could deal with it. I can deal with the
tie then over then you know, uh, risking trying to
call some type of play. You every okay, if it's
a pass play, get JJ on the perimeter, give them
a sake, give them a safe throw. This ball goes
(02:12:28):
to one or two guys. You either throw it to
eighteen or you throw it the Hockinson. That's it. You
don't throw this ball to anybody else if you're gonna
throw it. But if you run the ball, they have
to use their time out. If you throw in this
incomplete pass, it stops the clock and they saved that
time out.
Speaker 1 (02:12:44):
All right, we got this tie game between the Broncos
and the Texans, and right now ball is at midfield
and the Broncos are facing a third and eighth and
there's a how about that pass? So they throw it
and Taylor comes up with a reception back shoulder pass
was absolutely perfect.
Speaker 6 (02:13:06):
Look where he puts this thing back shoulder. It's a
great boom.
Speaker 3 (02:13:09):
It's a great route concept. It's a beautiful route concept.
He's actually lined up on the inside, Steve. There's trips
to the right down two receivers both run in routes
and slants, and he curls in behind him so it
separates against the corner off them.
Speaker 6 (02:13:22):
JJ puts it right where it needs to be.
Speaker 1 (02:13:24):
All right, Well, JJ McCarthy gets a return for the
Vikings today, not overwhelming numbers. He got sacked five times
to a pick. But the bottom line is the Vikings
are gonna come away with a victory in this game
today against the Lions. So all of a sudden, we
look at that NFC North Vikings makeup ground. The Bears
(02:13:45):
are taking care of business against the Bengals, So the
Bears are going to go to five and three, the
Vikings get to four and four, the Lions drop to
five and three, and of course we already saw the
Packers lose to so they go to five to two
and one.
Speaker 3 (02:14:02):
So uncles now have to punt fourth and eight one
twenty one left, fifteen to fifteen.
Speaker 6 (02:14:06):
So Davis Mills, who's.
Speaker 1 (02:14:08):
Forty eight and somehow he's been perennially twenty seven for
the last ten years, I can tell you, man, the
Viking's taking these. So that game is officially done, all right.
So the Vikings will beat the Lions eight, twenty seven
to twenty four. Big game for them. Meanwhile, the Steelers
will take care of the Colts. Too little, too late
for the Colts. It's twenty seven to seventeen with just
(02:14:30):
seconds to go in that game. So a couple of games,
by the way, just underway, and that is the Jaguars,
Raiders and the Saints and the Rams. And we're just
about to kick off the big game of the afternoon
between the Chiefs and the Bills.
Speaker 3 (02:14:44):
Keep it right here.
Speaker 2 (02:14:45):
Much more coming up. This is end Zone Radio.
Speaker 3 (02:14:48):
Herek Lambeau from forty nine for the win. Chanson the snap,
Martin the whole, Fitzgerald drives the leg, the kick is up.
Speaker 11 (02:14:57):
It is.
Speaker 1 (02:15:00):
God Ryn Fitzgerald delivers and Carolina silences lambeau Field ninety
nine seven of the Fox Panthers Rady on Newark, big
upset of the day. Carolina goes into Green Bay gets
the win. Sixteen thirteen. We have a game that I
thought was over and it's not. The Bears were leading
(02:15:23):
the Bengals thirty one to twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (02:15:25):
The Bengals scored, went for two, got the two on.
Speaker 1 (02:15:30):
Sidekick and you're the Bears, right, you got your hands
team on there, and one of their front guys the
balls kicked right at him.
Speaker 6 (02:15:39):
He's not even looking at the ball. He's not even looking.
Speaker 1 (02:15:41):
The ball hits his foot, it's recovered by the Bengals,
and now with a one to eleven to go, now
the Bengals have no timeouts, but they're all the way
down to the bears twenty two yard line. I can't
think about last year against the Commanders, the Broncos just
won on a field goal.
Speaker 2 (02:15:58):
How about that those gold there's a flag on the play.
Speaker 3 (02:16:01):
We'll watch that.
Speaker 1 (02:16:01):
But again, that was a Boonicks, big scramble to get
them in the field goal range. We'll watch for the
flag there. It it looks like, yeah, the Bengals have
excuse me, the Broncos have beaten the Texans and come
back to win this game eighteen to fifteen to go
to seven and two.
Speaker 2 (02:16:16):
All right, back to the Bengals right now. This is unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (02:16:19):
This game was over.
Speaker 1 (02:16:20):
Like we already talked about the Bears and Joe Flacco
and he's got a wide open receiver down to the
six yard line.
Speaker 2 (02:16:29):
Card wheel, bike bike Brown. All right, what's the flag?
Speaker 3 (02:16:33):
Well, it's right there on the sideline, so it's not
holding because it's not in the backfield. So it's either
going to be a legal defense, a legal touch in
legal contact by defensive back. Yeah, a where the flags thrown,
it's gotta be something in the defense.
Speaker 1 (02:16:46):
Yeah, it was well beyond the line of scrimmage, illegal
hands of the face defense. That's the climb.
Speaker 8 (02:16:51):
Why.
Speaker 1 (02:16:51):
All right, So now they're inside the ten yard line,
down about the six yard line. So last year, remember
the Bears were rolling early on and then they the
hail Mary play that Jayden Daniels delivered for the Commanders.
One of the Bears players memory, he was mocking the
crowd and then got over laid tip the ball up
literally to the guy that caught the pass, and so
(02:17:12):
the Bengals now at the seven yard line, they run
the ball for a three yard loss.
Speaker 6 (02:17:17):
Don't play call.
Speaker 3 (02:17:18):
I was gonna bring that up too, because they pulled
the Bears did they pulled Kayley Williams off this game.
And they're over there high five in and they're over
there celebrating about him minute and a half ago. They
were over there to celebrate because the camera caught it.
And this is just typical of teams in the NFL.
Now play your guys, how about this? The Bears call
the time out.
Speaker 1 (02:17:37):
Wow wow for the Bengals. Okay, wow, So the Bears
call a timeout. It's second in goal for the Bengals.
Speaker 3 (02:17:46):
Joe Flackel has four hundred and twenty four passing. That's
four forty eight.
Speaker 1 (02:17:52):
A career high, a career high playing since they were
leather helmets. All right, here we go that can and
go for the Bengals as the Bears, I guess did
him a favor by calling it time. All right, we're
back to the nine yard line. So that last play
lost three yards on a run. We're not going to
run this time? Hand, Tod, Why why open my goodness?
(02:18:18):
Grace oh wow, Wow, Joe Flacco. Ben Johnson is in shot. Shot,
He's an absolute shot. Fourteen point lead with two minutes
and the Bengals are an extra point away from taking
(02:18:39):
the lead. This game is in Cincinnati, by the way,
and shoe for Lacco.
Speaker 6 (02:18:47):
Bear the bear Sielone was celebrating.
Speaker 1 (02:18:51):
All right, hold on, we've seen him as extra point
already costs a team a game. Let's see if the
Bengals come away with the extra point. It's up and
it is good. The Bengals lead the Bears forty two
to forty one. All right, fifty four seconds to go.
You still have a time out, right, you only need
to get a field goal. But what a comeback by
(02:19:14):
the Bengals. Officially, here are the numbers for Joe Flacco.
Thirty of forty four, four hundred and fifty seven yards,
four touchdowns and a pick.
Speaker 4 (02:19:26):
Why isn't Joe Flacco in the MVP conversation exactly that?
Speaker 3 (02:19:29):
Can we now all just agree Cleveland don't know what
the hell they're doing? Can we all just come to
a universal agreement with that? He looked he looked terrible there, Yeah,
he looked awful.
Speaker 1 (02:19:42):
And uh, the Bengals pick him up, you know, just
trying to, you know, keep themselves relevant. By the way,
how big is this game? Bengals lose, they go to
three and six, see bye bye, bye bye, win the game.
You're four and five and you're still in the mix,
right in there, waiting for Joe Burrows. So again, in
the last four forty nine seconds, the Bengals outscored the
(02:20:04):
Bears fifteen nothing forty nine seconds.
Speaker 3 (02:20:09):
Looks like one of the dads I stand next to it,
back to school night and talk to why our wives
and children are sitting with the teacher. Okay, this game
isn't over.
Speaker 1 (02:20:18):
Caleb Williams see here again, Oh man, this is an
opportunity for Caleb Williams day today. They got time, they
have a timeout, and you only need to get into
field goal range and the Bengals have no defense.
Speaker 3 (02:20:32):
But okay, let's just add that. All the game he
was already sitting on the sideline, had his damn near,
was taking his uniform like you're gonna come back in
and all of a sudden.
Speaker 1 (02:20:41):
All right, they're gonna get some back field goal. All right,
they're about twenty eight yard line. That's such, that's better
than the twenty. All right, so think about this. You
got fifty seconds left, you do have a timeout, and
you need about forty yards. That's what you need.
Speaker 3 (02:20:55):
I wouldn't go prevent. Prevent defense will prevent you from winning.
I've always lived by that. I'm sending pressure. I'm making
him get the bud. Do not allow him to sit
and let guys get open. Send pressure, bring pressure, Do
not let them get in field going because the field
goal beat you.
Speaker 6 (02:21:12):
So you got to bring pressure right now, like you
see these gouts.
Speaker 1 (02:21:14):
The problem with it, the problem with the Bengals is
they're always in a prevent defense because they can't stop anybody.
Speaker 3 (02:21:19):
Right now, you got to put all that behind you, man,
and go get a dub. You gotta put some pressure.
Speaker 1 (02:21:23):
Over the last two years, they've had five losses, like
the games where they scored thirty points. Caleb Williams scrambling
throws in complete, incomplete and complete. Yeah, earn some pressure
on time, all right, gotta put pressure on all right,
So second ten, they're forty two seconds to go. Wow,
what a unbelievable what we saw with this game. This
game We're already were reading the obituary. It was over right,
(02:21:45):
this one was over. I mean the Bears had a
fourteen point lead and that was it.
Speaker 3 (02:21:49):
Hell, we thought that, we thought the Falcons. We thought
the Falcons were about the toll. The Falcons just tied
it up.
Speaker 6 (02:21:53):
No, it's the extra point, lose the game again. It's
the NFL and the and they look like that.
Speaker 1 (02:21:59):
The Broncos game against the Texans was going to go
to overtime and bow Nicks got loose on a big
scramble to get him in the field goal range, and
they deliver a right second down for Caleb.
Speaker 3 (02:22:10):
Wam and there he's just running around right now, that.
Speaker 1 (02:22:13):
Ball's knocked down.
Speaker 3 (02:22:14):
That's no flag. But third and ten right now, I
don't know how to rough miss that hole to call
goodness grazy and left tackle took the d n down
to the ground to allow Caleb Williams to be able
to move around.
Speaker 1 (02:22:25):
All right, we'll keep it right here, try to keep
you updated on this again. Bengals lead forty two to
forty one. They got thirty five seconds to go. The
Bears do have a timeout so they can make a
throw over the middle, which is huge and stop the clock.
But right now they needed a first down obviously, two
down territory, but third town and ten for the Bears,
(02:22:47):
and wow, I mean, who expected this? Steve?
Speaker 6 (02:22:50):
I'm telling you, will you pull a guy out if they.
Speaker 3 (02:22:52):
Lose this game?
Speaker 1 (02:22:52):
Or are they going to go south just like they
did last year after that Commanders game. Caleb Williams is
scrambling ability, He is scraming. He's running right now. He's
gonna get the first down and a little bit more.
They can stop the.
Speaker 2 (02:23:04):
Clock, time out.
Speaker 6 (02:23:06):
Yeah, call the time out now, and they did, but
that's not gonna be enough. He's not going to be
able to do that again.
Speaker 3 (02:23:11):
I think the Bengals, you get one, you get twenty
three seconds, No tom outse we you think three plays?
Speaker 1 (02:23:18):
Well again in twenty three seconds at the ball, if
he can't get the ball out of bounds, you're the
game that's going to be over. So you're gonna have
to make sideline plays. But they used their last timeout.
He did scramble for a first down, and but they
still have got a ways to go to get into
field goal range.
Speaker 6 (02:23:35):
Quick sidebars.
Speaker 3 (02:23:36):
They're at the fort their own forty two yard line.
Tom Brady talking to another Michigan alumni quote with his
l FG player of the Game Award. I told you
I think this is so cool. But of course, who
are there who better to do it than Tom Brady? Alright,
so here you go, buddy, back to the Bengals and Bears. Yes,
all right, so we got a first down for the Bears.
(02:23:56):
There's twenty five seconds to go in the fourth quarter,
lead this one forty two to forty one.
Speaker 1 (02:24:03):
So again, they need about twenty yards here to get
into a reasonable field goal position.
Speaker 2 (02:24:10):
Williams throws the ball over the middle and it's caught.
Speaker 5 (02:24:14):
Game over.
Speaker 3 (02:24:15):
Game over, Bears wear another Michigan overde believable for the
Bears of the unbelievable about tackling.
Speaker 1 (02:24:29):
This has been the Bengals story for years. A complete
breakdown of their defenseless team. You make up one of
the most incredible comebacks of the year and a bust attack.
Can anybody tackle in this league? He didn't try to
wrap them up. Anybody tacklessly, just bumped into him, and
Loveland just goes the distance and the Bears score with
(02:24:52):
seventeen seconds less.
Speaker 6 (02:24:54):
Terrible stop.
Speaker 3 (02:24:55):
That's terrible, and this is why you learn in his
performance in football, a man, you have to wrap guys up.
You just come in, Zacht. You try to throw a
big hit on a six foot four, two hundred and
forty seven pound athletic tight end, spins right off and
bounces off of it and then outruns your slow ass
(02:25:15):
DBS to the end zone.
Speaker 6 (02:25:16):
Four touchdowns.
Speaker 1 (02:25:17):
Believable.
Speaker 3 (02:25:18):
Well, it's not unbelievable because we talked about it.
Speaker 1 (02:25:21):
That's the sixth loss in two years for the Bengals
in which they've scored at least thirty points.
Speaker 3 (02:25:26):
You you, and you waste four hundred and fifty plus
passing yard.
Speaker 4 (02:25:31):
There's seventeen seconds left on the clock. You guys, there's
on the other side of the field. What are you
talking about?
Speaker 1 (02:25:37):
All right? So, actually the Bears are going to go
for the two point version to make it a seven
point game, which is the right move.
Speaker 2 (02:25:44):
Williams looks to the end zone and it is incomposing
hi point game.
Speaker 11 (02:25:48):
Game.
Speaker 1 (02:25:49):
All right, Let's find out what is trending right now?
As I see Monsey Belanya's uh what is taking her
head right hit?
Speaker 5 (02:25:56):
I can't go like, I don't even care who wins
between the Bears and the Bengals, but it's stressing me out.
Speaker 2 (02:26:01):
And after the Dodgers game last night. I can't keep
feeling like this, you guys.
Speaker 1 (02:26:05):
This is this game?
Speaker 2 (02:26:06):
Really?
Speaker 1 (02:26:07):
This was one of those games over glves that were
like looking up, like what happened here?
Speaker 3 (02:26:13):
Kick outside the Bears guys hits the Bears plays.
Speaker 8 (02:26:18):
It was the hands.
Speaker 1 (02:26:21):
It's not even a surprise on sidekick anymore. Like you
know it's coming, you know it's coming, and this guy's
like running up field and it hits his foot.
Speaker 3 (02:26:29):
Unbelievable. But the Bears take the lead.
Speaker 2 (02:26:31):
Bengals. Bengals defense is just a joke.
Speaker 6 (02:26:35):
Eight lee changes and they can't sit. That's like an
NBA right here.
Speaker 5 (02:26:39):
It's like, I get that you've given up, you know,
forty thirty nine points whatever, thirty eight points.
Speaker 2 (02:26:44):
It's like, just stop the run? Are you going to
get Caleb Williams? Right that? Caleb the first down he got.
That's where you messed up where he got that first down.
I don't, obviously, you need to tackle about this guy.
Does anybody have this guy under six yards rushing onto carries?
Speaker 3 (02:27:00):
Anybody have him?
Speaker 2 (02:27:02):
If someone did good for them.
Speaker 3 (02:27:04):
I don't eat Maazi, I'm with you, you can't. I
don't know.
Speaker 6 (02:27:07):
I don't have any more words.
Speaker 2 (02:27:08):
I don't have I can't call.
Speaker 5 (02:27:10):
Can't articulate it, and I don't even did Trevor Lawrence
just throw an interception in the endzone or something, because
the Jaguars were knocking on the door to score like
not long ago, and I think the Raiders have the
ball back.
Speaker 2 (02:27:21):
That is a scoreless game. Late in the first quarter
in Las Vegas.
Speaker 5 (02:27:24):
Matthew Stafford connected with Tyler Higbee pretty quickly for the Rams,
so they're up on the Saints seven zero late in
the first quarter, and it looks like Josh Allen has
just thrown a touchdown pass to Dalton Kincaid, putting the
Bills on the.
Speaker 2 (02:27:35):
Scoreboard first at home against the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (02:27:37):
Six zero is the score pending the extra point eight
minutes to go in the first quarter of that one.
Speaker 2 (02:27:43):
Oh, what has wrapped up?
Speaker 8 (02:27:44):
Well?
Speaker 2 (02:27:45):
The Panthers with a sixteen to thirteen set win.
Speaker 3 (02:27:48):
Can I interrupt you for a set?
Speaker 5 (02:27:50):
What happened?
Speaker 1 (02:27:51):
Because we have joinny US right now. Blake Cashman of
the Minnesota Vikings, the great linebacker who had fourteen tackles
today in the Vikings. Big victory today on the road
of Blake, First of all, congratulations on a huge win
for you guys on the road today against the Detroit Lions.
(02:28:11):
Give us a little sense of that Vikings locker room
after the big win at ford Field today.
Speaker 12 (02:28:17):
Thank you. There's a lot of joy in the locker
room right now. You know, we put a lot of
work in this week to make sure we came out victorious,
and you know, guys are celebrating, playing music, dancing around.
But you know, I love something that JJ McCarthy said
when he broke it down as a team and he said,
you know, we can't let this be an emotional win.
(02:28:38):
We got to come back, come back to next week
to to continue to work hard and you know, not
get complacent. And I think that's the right message. We're
gonna enjoy this, but we're gonna we know, we got
a cup of pony come into to our house next week.
Speaker 3 (02:28:53):
Play VJ Roun Husky here man, great win today, great
effort by you, my good man. I love your defense
with Coach Roflow there and the way he just continues
to have you guys blitz like hell and successful. But
I want to I want to key in on your
quarterback man. I'm a big JJ guy. I believe he's
the franchise guy in the future for your franchise, and
it's going to help you guys win a lot of
games to get to the promise lane.
Speaker 8 (02:29:13):
What did it?
Speaker 6 (02:29:13):
What did it mean among the men in the locker.
Speaker 3 (02:29:15):
Room when you when you got your young you got
your young buck coming back and you believe in this kid,
and you guys go on the road and not only
get a win, you get a division. When it gets
a team that people have pegged to walk away with
this division this.
Speaker 12 (02:29:28):
Year, Well, I think what we accomplished today was huge.
You know, we felt like it was a must win game,
and it's like you said, it's a divisional game. So
you know, the way we see it as accounts for two.
We're now too and on our division and that's what's
important is defending the North. But to get JJ back
out there on the grass, the way he led the offense,
(02:29:51):
I thought, you know, with him leading the offense and
then with what we did on the special teams and
the defense, you know, we finally started putting together a
game where we were playing complimentary football. So it was
a great team effort, a great team finished, and I'm
just proud of the way, you know, we fought for
sixty minutes.
Speaker 1 (02:30:08):
Well, Blake, again, we want to congratulate you. Fourteen tackles
for you today. That is a huge game, Blake, and
it was needed in hanging on to win this game
on the road against the Detroit Lions. Congratulations to you
and the Vikings on the big victory today.
Speaker 11 (02:30:23):
Thank you.
Speaker 12 (02:30:24):
I really appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (02:30:25):
That's Blake Cashman there, the outstanding linebacker. By the way,
big story of this game was really shutting down that
Lion's running game. Jamiir Gibbs nine carries, twenty five yards,
two point eight yards of carry, David Montgomery only three
point six yards of carry, sixty five yards on the ground.
Jared Gouff did not throw a pick today, but he
was sacked five times and that was enough. JJ McCarthy
(02:30:47):
again and again, forget the stats. I mean you could
just see a spirit uplifting of that entire Vikings team
that came out hot and they were able to maintain
huge win on the road.
Speaker 3 (02:31:01):
By the way, it is over.
Speaker 1 (02:31:03):
The Bears have defeated the Bengals forty seven to forty two,
with Joe Flacco ended up with four hundred and seventy
yards passing that is a career high for Joe Flacco,
and yet the Bengals defense is just forty seven points unreal,
(02:31:26):
forty seven points against the Bears.
Speaker 3 (02:31:28):
Manogaei of seventh round pick out of Ruggers, Am I
right on?
Speaker 6 (02:31:32):
Yeah, seventh round out of Rutgers.
Speaker 1 (02:31:34):
One hundred and seventy six yards rushing?
Speaker 3 (02:31:37):
And you know what the problem is here? It's so
let's just be honest about it. The ownership in Cincinnati,
they just don't care. Because if you know you have
a glaring hole in your franchise, which is your business
that you own, you want to try to correct that.
Speaker 6 (02:31:52):
Any other business CEO.
Speaker 3 (02:31:53):
And owner would do so. But in pro sports, we
all know you don't have to put a product on field,
the diamond, or the court to be a billionaire. We've
seen it in the NBA with the Nick Oboccas. Don't
no care about a product on the court because everybody's
still gonna want to go to MSG to watch them.
We've watched bad teams. These guys are billionaires still guys,
(02:32:16):
And I'm just I'm just tired of it when I
look at Cincinnati, because we talked about what is it
gonna waste Joe Burrows prime, could he beat the next Marino?
Speaker 1 (02:32:24):
Where if I'm Joe, He's gonna be exactly that when
I talked about that.
Speaker 3 (02:32:29):
He can't ask for that because you keep getting hurt.
You can't ask no, you can't ask for out when
you're not on the field. That's not that's not gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (02:32:35):
By the way, Josh Allen owns the Chiefs six for six,
fifty two yards and a touchdown. Past the King case.
Speaker 3 (02:32:41):
Owns regular season right, he does. Can't beat him in
James a dog at home today, Chiefs defense. You know,
while they shut down the Raiders, Hey, great for you,
good job.
Speaker 1 (02:32:52):
They have the ball for the seventh time, all right
down the field and they hit the ball back right
and right now.
Speaker 2 (02:32:56):
So seven nothing bills. Also the Rams up on the
Saints having nothing.
Speaker 1 (02:33:00):
Matthew Stafford off to a hot start nine eleven nine
yards and a touchdown. Oh, by the way, do we
go back to Moncey because we interrupted Moncey in mid sentence.
Now on the other side though, okay.
Speaker 3 (02:33:12):
Sorry, she's I got deaf of the score. She's got
plenty to do.
Speaker 1 (02:33:15):
The rest of the day. By the way, Raiders Jaguars.
No score. That'll probably hold up for quite a while.
All right, coming up on the other side, we'll get
you ready for the uh not so prime games coming
up tonight and tomorrow and more on what's happening right now?
What another we needed? This great, great Sunday around the
NFL Week nine. This is end Zone Radio.
Speaker 13 (02:33:39):
Caleb pros Liddle, the film, lovel catch breaks away, the
thirty blove, the twenty bluff, the ten cluff of the
end zone touchdown Bears Colston Lovelin on a throw by
Kayleb Williams on the blitz with seventeen seconds to go
and the Bears reclaim the lead.
Speaker 1 (02:33:57):
Forty seven two. That was the game of the day,
at least at the end. It was Bears Radio Network unbelievable.
Forty two Bears come away with a victory over the
hapless Cincinnati Bengals. Once again, we are and Zone Radio.
We're in the Fox Sports Radio studios, Hartman and Husky

of course getting in all the updates in mom even
if we know hours ago he interrupted her on her
last one. I feel bad, Iowa Sam in today all weekend.
I was good to see you at to see you guys.
What a hoot, what great games Ray This four hours
flew by. I know that's the way it does on
this show. Last week wasn't a great week for this
(02:35:02):
made up this week.
Speaker 10 (02:35:03):
Man.
Speaker 3 (02:35:03):
We had a lot of exciting games.
Speaker 6 (02:35:05):
We had to push after noon last week.
Speaker 3 (02:35:07):
We had to find we had to find some stuff
to talk. We have a no huddle. I was like,
there are a lot of blowouts last week. Everything.
Speaker 1 (02:35:13):
I was out sitting, man. Yeah, it's not good, but
we had some exciting finishes today. More good games going
on right now. Of course Bo Benson as our producer both.
But the day after, the Dodgers go back to back,
first time, by the way, in Dodgers history, they've ever
done that. First team to do it since the Yankees
won three in a row from ninety eight to two thousand,
(02:35:34):
it was did you wake up this morning with the
idea like did it actually happen? Or how how did
you wake up this morning after the Dodger victory last night?
Speaker 4 (02:35:42):
I would say that I woke up with a mild hangover.
Speaker 6 (02:35:45):
Okay, good, I like that, right, I I was going
to make a joke.
Speaker 4 (02:35:50):
I don't know what's more unbelievable the fact that the
Dodgers won the World Series the way that they did,
or that the Chicago Bears offense put at fifty points today.
Speaker 1 (02:35:57):
Yeah, that's both feel like a dreams not of Steve
Thels defense Bo woke up.
Speaker 7 (02:36:03):
And the sun was just starting to come up and
he heard this song. We realized the daughters went back
to back. Yeah, and he's like, yeah, my kingdom.
Speaker 3 (02:36:12):
My daughter, my daughter was watching Lion King when the.
Speaker 1 (02:36:17):
Light touches his Dodgers Kingdom. Well, also, guys, you know
we we had the Daylight savings, right, so you know
instead of it light at seven, it said six, Yeah,
you got an hour back.
Speaker 3 (02:36:28):
I got an hour back last night and so helped me.
Speaker 4 (02:36:34):
There was no fallback. I would have not been here today.
Speaker 3 (02:36:38):
That's not I don't want to thought about the Dodgers too,
because I'm sorry, I'm gonna fight back against anything of
oh they got lucky or the Blue Jays.
Speaker 4 (02:36:47):
I hate that type of Is there anyone in specific
that's talking.
Speaker 3 (02:36:50):
Like that, Well, I don't know, maybe twenty nine and five,
twenty nine and five this year when the Dodgers out
homer their opponent. Mm hmmm, twenty nine and five. That
means you can put guys on, you can puty Listen.
I agree with a rod This was great for baseball
this postseason. This World Series was great for the game
(02:37:12):
of baseball because it kind of took all the analytics
bs out of it. We watched the guy go and
throw seven six innings and go back and pitch the
next night, which is unheard of crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:37:25):
It's unhard to he pitched two and two thirds inning, right,
It's one thing.
Speaker 3 (02:37:28):
He comes in face a battle, two no, two and
two thirds innings.
Speaker 1 (02:37:33):
He gets out of that ninth inning, which was unbelieve
He hits the first batter, Kirk, and then he somehow
gets out of that and we're told, Steve.
Speaker 3 (02:37:40):
You you can't do it.
Speaker 6 (02:37:41):
We're told, oh they can, yes they can, Yes.
Speaker 1 (02:37:43):
They can you let the numbers. By the way, let's
also give credit to Dave Roberts, who, by the way,
now in elimination games BLU seven and two.
Speaker 3 (02:37:52):
I liked him spot, I really did.
Speaker 1 (02:37:54):
That's Hall of Fame seven and two in elimination games
seven and two.
Speaker 3 (02:37:59):
But that's that I like is because at the end
of the day, it's like boxing, right, That's why I
like knockouts, or any Stoart said it fatausly, that's why
I like knockouts. Take the cards and the judges out
of it, take the base running and take it out
of it. Put the ball in the seats, and that
will take care of the game for you. Could the
Dodgers again.
Speaker 1 (02:38:20):
Right now the Chiefs and of the first quarter trail
the Bills seven nothing, but they have a first and
goal at the Bill's three yard line. Rams scored again,
missed extra point, thirteen nothing. I don't think it's going
to really play into this game. They beat lead the Saints,
by the way, Stafford already thirteen to sixteen, twenty yards
and two touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (02:38:38):
Did they miske the extra point?
Speaker 1 (02:38:40):
They missed the extra point?
Speaker 8 (02:38:40):
You got it?
Speaker 1 (02:38:41):
Yeah, So thirteen nothing. Rams over the Saints and Battle
of Futility right now, Jaguars and the Raiders. No Scar,
no scam.
Speaker 3 (02:38:51):
I'm not sure to say about either one of those teams.
If I got it, did take I will tell you guys,
I did take the Chiefs today. I don't know if
any of you guys did. I did take the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (02:38:59):
Why would you take the Chiefs? Sat looking at how
they're playing right now. I'm looking at how they're playing
right now, and I'm looking out how Buffalo has been playing.
And Buffaloes only look good against the Panthers the last
time good against the Raiders. The Commanders, well, people were.
Speaker 6 (02:39:19):
Picking a whole big people were picking the Commanders that
win the NFCA.
Speaker 1 (02:39:22):
You know how I feel about the Chiefs right now.
They've played in their last Super Bowl.
Speaker 7 (02:39:26):
They played in the last super Bowl, their last or
the last, but they have last, but.
Speaker 3 (02:39:32):
They have last. They have not played in one since
the last one.
Speaker 1 (02:39:37):
I said that, and I said that he was getting
his words the last or their last. I said he
will never play in another Super Bowl, and they haven't.
The Gino Smith semantic Steve. If you're very tricky, you're
very clever. Gino Smith is five of nine for twenty
eight yards. By the way, Ashton genty, you and I
both love this kid. The six carries thirty seven year
(02:40:00):
that's six yards of pop with zero passing game.
Speaker 6 (02:40:03):
Give him the row, it doesn't matter because he runs
through people.
Speaker 2 (02:40:06):
Trevor Lawrence eight of eleven, just fifty five yards and
a pick.
Speaker 6 (02:40:11):
That's starting to be a trend though.
Speaker 3 (02:40:12):
Man. We're seeing a lot of quarterbacks complete a lot
of passes this year and it's not equal into the yards. No,
it's not.
Speaker 1 (02:40:19):
I mean this is this is why people look back
at some of those old stats while that guy completed
fifty five percent and he was all pro.
Speaker 3 (02:40:25):
Yeah, because they threw the ball down the field. You
know what freight number.
Speaker 2 (02:40:30):
When he had a third and ten, you would throw
a twelve yard pass.
Speaker 3 (02:40:34):
Oh no, Now we throw a screen and hope we
can trick you.
Speaker 1 (02:40:36):
Yeah, all right, any quick picked on tonight's game. Seahawks commanders,
give me favor.
Speaker 6 (02:40:43):
Give me commanders.
Speaker 3 (02:40:44):
Wow, how bless? Everybody has a home dog?
Speaker 1 (02:40:46):
Yes, give me right here, Dan bar here Roads coming
up here on Fox Sports Radio
