You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Yes, living the dream
once again on a huge NFL Sunday, Fox Sports Red

Alive from the guy Go Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen
minutes can save you fifteen per cent a more on
your car insurance. There's a guy good dot com for
a free rate quo. Well, for the first time in
(00:25):
a long time, Rich, as we sit here, we actually
have a game in the books and the Texans obliterate
the Jaguars to three, and there's a major fallout from
that game pending. We'll get to that in a moment.
Six games that are kicking off right now. Redskins at
the Bills, We got the Vikings that Chiefs Patrick Mahomes
(00:45):
is inactive. He will not play in this game for
the Chiefs. We got the Jets on the road against
the hapless Dolphins. Those teams combine are one in thirteen.
Bears at the Eagles, two teams trying to survive right now,
Colts at the Heelers. Can the Steelers do anything in
this game? And then we got the Titans on the
road against the Panthers. But let's let's start about this
(01:08):
game a little bit earlier today, rich Texans defeating the
Jaguars to three, and Minshew Mania is in trouble. It
was a rough day for Gardner Minshew, a couple of
bad interceptions, couple of fumbles in the final quarter. They
got a bye week coming up, and the war report
is Nick Foles could be ready to go. So would
(01:28):
you be shocked if they sit Minshew and bring back
the former Super Bowl m v P. No. No, I
wouldn't have been shocked even if they did it after
Minshew went on sort of a run. I mean, look,
that is your starter, that is your money. And if
Nick Foles came back, even if Minshew replaced it and
(01:49):
did an excellent job like he was through most of
his starting stint, uh, nobody would complain if Foles came
back and returned to form last we've seen him. He's
a good quarterback. He is a very good starting quarterback
in this league. So nobody would bristle at this. Very
similar to how in the with the Saints, Drew Brees
goes down with an injury, He's replaced by Bridgewater. Bridgewater
(02:12):
played like a very competent startup. Drew Brees comes back,
looks good, All is well in Nolan's right. So that's
exactly what it would have been like in Jacksonville. But
this actually gives you an easier off ramp from Minshew
and an on ramp to Foals. All right, so right now,
the biggest game this morning is the Vikings coming in
at six into the red hot Kirk Cousins and Cup
(02:34):
and here on a roll and they roll into Kansas
City and the Chiefs will not have Patrick Mahomes at quarterback.
Matt Moore will get the start once again. Last year
he's coaching high school right here in l A at
Hart High School, and now he is quarterback in the
Kansas City Chiefs. Not really a surprise. We've said this
many times. At what point do you feel like, hey,
(02:55):
we got to get him back now? It could get
real interesting though. If the Chiefs were to lose what
would be their fourth home loss of the season and
the Raiders win, they would only be a half game out. Remember,
Raiders have three straight home games coming up, and then
the Chargers are home today sort of against the Green
Bay Packers. So you know, at what point, if you're
(03:17):
the Chiefs you suddenly say, wow, we need him back
or can you hold them out through Week eleven, which
is their game against the Chargers, They have a bye
week and Week twelve, and then save them for those
last five Would you roll the dice on that. Well,
it's all circumstantial. It depends on what happens around your division.
It depends. Look, they have to the Chiefs lose these
(03:39):
games and the Raiders and Chargers have to win those
games in order for anything to be disrupted here. The
Chiefs are firmly seated at the top of the a
f C West and they shall remain there unless, like
you said, all hell breaks loose and the Raiders go
on the run. The Chargers figure it out late with
a brand new offensive coordinator and Matt Moore isn't the
guy instead of Mahomes, So we'll see what happens there.
(04:03):
But I will say this, the home lost record is
a big problem for the Chiefs as that game kicks off.
And also, I would say the one silver lining with
having Mahomes out is it appears that Steve Spagnolo has
taken it upon himself to kick start this defense in
the right direction. A ton of pressures being used over
(04:24):
the past two weeks, they've amassed thirteen sacks. They look
to continue that that success here against Minnesota Vikings today
at home. All right, James Conner's out for the Steelers.
They are just trying somehow to keep their head above water.
It is going to be a challenge today their home
against the Colts. Steelers are actually a slight favorite in
this game. I think a point and half favorite. Uh,
(04:46):
the Colts very much in the playoff picks are right now.
Remember this is a team whose quarterback retired two weeks
before the season began. Jacoby Brisett maybe not getting some
of the fan for other quarterbacks are getting, but I'm
not shocked. He been there last year, he's been there
the year before. I mean he's been in this system
with the Cults for the last couple of years. He's
played very very well and they only have two losses
(05:09):
right now. Very comfortable with this role replacing a great
Remember his time in New England, he had a step
in his understudy to Garoppolo and Tom Brady and did
a good job starting in their stead. And then you've
seen the same thing with this Andrew luck injury a
season ago or two seasons ago, where he played a
full season and shined at times. It was a learning
(05:31):
season for him, no doubt, um but has time in
this system, time with Frank Reich and as the starter.
Here he's looking good. Mason Rudolph similar situation on the
Pittsburgh Steelers side, stepping into for a face of a franchise.
I mean Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers are synonymous at
this point, and Rudolph, who's just fresh off of concussion
(05:51):
protocol in the victory over the Dolphins, has thrown an
interception in the first series. The Steelers have had a
ball so shaky start much like the Dolphins game for Rudolph. Here. Yeah,
Vikings three and out on their opening dry So Matt
Moore and the Chiefs are on the field right now
for their first drive of the game. By the way,
we've had a Domino situation here with our producers on
(06:15):
this Sunday. Uh Leadal app who is a die hard
Packer fan, is taking the day off to be at
the Packer Charger game. He said, I want to be
one of the of the fans wearing green at the
soccer stadium today. So Lea's out, so Gavin moved into
his spot and we welcome in Ryan today. Now, Ryan,
(06:37):
I was trying to explain to Ryan, Ryan, you have
open mic today. You understand that for four hours, So
now we don't. Some days we've had as many as
ten games going on simultaneously. We only have six today.
But if you see anything, Ryan, anything that we're missing
about a score, especially any kind of score, field goal, anything, turnover,
stuff like that, feel free to jump in this. Yeah,
(06:58):
just see something. Say something, right, Sam, the New York
Transit system something, say something. You're comfortable with that, Ryan,
you can You'll jump in. You can talk over us
anything that. He's all ready to go. All right. So, um,
A lot of things happening today around the National Football League,
by the way. One thing happened last night in football.
By the way, I'm nine and oh on my college
(07:19):
pick side Utah minus three and a half. They clever
you nine and oh. Gavin, by the way, you put
huge money on my pick yesterday. I texted him, you're
better start getting to taste. I mean, Gavin is really
rock and rolling here. You might have to start charging,
he said. If you double down, were up to twenty thousand.
So I'm about to be six and three today. Your NFL.
(07:40):
It's the Chargers. This is a sleeper pick. A lot
of people feel like they're gonna get embarrassed by the Packers.
Got plus three and a half. Yeah, I took him
plus three and a half. And like the dogs at home.
I like the dogs on the road at home, I
guess is the way you l have to look at this.
One quick note about yesterday college football late USC got routed,
I mean routed by Oregon. It was just a beat down. Uh.
(08:03):
Clay Helton after the game was asked about his job
security and he said what, I guess the only thing
he could say, I'm gonna I'm gonna work my tail
off as long as they want me. It's over. Helton
is over at USC. Urban Meyer is going to be
the next coach at USC. You can bet the bank
well you're not bank, Yeah, yeah, Well they're gonna have
(08:24):
to pay. Well, that's one of the easiest negotiations ever
because it's simply this, what do you want? Yeah? Yeah?
Well look, I mean, just one thing that we know
about urban Meyer and he's been doing a really nice
job as an analyst for Fox In in the meantime
is where he goes. He wins now, scandal has followed
him in places, there's no doubt about it. Yeah, a
(08:44):
lot of people USC where there's been a lot of
scandal over the last year and a half, saying, really,
all the scandals we've had, you're going to bring in
a coach who has the background he has. Look, that's
the record right along with the winds and the very
few losses over the course of an outstanding college football
career as a coach. There's also the speculation that has
(09:05):
swirled around programs he's worked with. However, he's a winner.
He's a proven winner. He's a great recruiter. He builds
a strong culture. That's one that to this day. In fact,
the new head coach Day is enjoying at Ohio State.
So if he goes to USC with the prominence in recruiting,
especially southern California area they've had, this could be a
(09:28):
facelift they need. If there's any argument about the hiring
Urban Meyer, they're gonna remind them the one thing there
is no revenue stream close to a top level football
team for this university. They had this during the two
thousands of Pete Carroll getting to all those BCS Bowl games.
Year after year after year. They want to get back
(09:49):
to it. Right now, if you could say that, you
bring in urban Meyer, with all the other things that
come along with USC football, that really recruits itself and
there're suddenly in the playoff every year, and that four
team playoff, that amount of money. Nobody is going to
argue against that. So look for at Clayhelton is a
really good man. It's a pretty good coach, but his
(10:10):
days are pretty much over at USC once the season
is over. So that's just one of the notes from
college football. Of course, next week college football, get ready
for that L s U at Alabama and Tuscaloosa. That
is the game of the year next week. There is
no doubt about it. I'm excited for that game. A
lot of people look at L. S U and say, well,
is Joe Burrow has really been tested? I think they've
(10:31):
played a really difficult schedule. I think he's shined. Still
right there in the Heisman rave if not the favorite,
and Alabama is Alabama, I mean, they're just barn storming
college football and have been for the better part of
two decades. We've got a score update who scored. Finally
we got a scar who scored I got a touchdown
for the New York Jets. Sam Donald too, I believe
(10:53):
Jamison Crowder. Wow, how about that? All the teams, the Jets, well,
the Dolphins, trying to reassert themselves else as the worst
team in the league. So Sam Donald twelve yards to Crowder.
Darnald course has been seeing ghost. I mean, this kid
is last week. What happened to him and Jacksonville was unreal. Saxonville, Man,
(11:14):
that's what they do to opposing passers. They get after you.
I mean, now, don't get me wrong, you would be
impressed to find out that they don't have an incredibly
successful pass defense. Uh you know, they're sort of middling
in that category. But if they get a sniff or
if they get a little blood in the water, it's
like sharks man that they can rack them up on people.
(11:35):
Last year they've had double digit sack games. The same
is true this year. Klaias Campbell in the middle of that.
That defensive front has just been a stalwart for them.
All right, when the guy go Foxwords Radio Studios, so
a little different Sunday. We already have one game in
the books. We'll talk abore about that. Uh big victory
today as the Titan at the Texans at six and
(11:57):
three right now, defeating the Jaguars fall to four and five.
Six games here in the morning. We got four more
of this afternoon, and then of course a huge sunny
night game between the Patriots and the Ravens. Will keep
you updated with the Fox Sports Red Zone radio coming up. Next.
Play action fake Josh Allen fires into the INtime cut
by Beasley touchdown Buffalo called Beasley three touchdowns in three
(12:21):
straight games for him, and the Bill strike first with
a six yard pass from Josh Allen. Bill's radio network
right there. All right. So the Buffalo Bills a team
that you know, just flies under the radar, Rich, I mean,
they're sitting here with just two losses right now. Uh.
You know, Josh Allen is a guy that's not gonna
(12:41):
turn any heads with his quarterback play. But that defense,
obviously is is one of the best in the league.
They basically have a walkover game at home, or should
be against the one and seven Redskins team. So what
point do we look at the I mean, I'm right
like right now, if the playoffs were to begin today,
the Bills would be the one seat as far as
the wild card is concerned they would be heading to
(13:03):
Kansas City. Would they be a threat to the Texans
or the Colts or or a team like that in
the opening round the playoffs on the road, Well, I
mean that would they be a threat? Certainly, they'd be
a threat because they're difficult to game plan for outside
of one game, and unfortunately for them, it was last week.
Their defense has been really sound and their offense proposes
(13:25):
an interesting challenge. They don't have a very good passer
at quarterback, but he's very dynamic. He's a rusher. They
they scheme plays for him to to sort of expose
defenses in that way. Um, but you know what, let's
interrupt that commentary on the Bills right now to welcome
in Whitney, merciless on the right side of this one.
(13:47):
Out in London. Texans just defeated the Jaguars and the
outside linebacker joining us. Hey, Whitney. Uh, first question off
the top, is it lonely at this point in the
room as a pass rush? You lost J. J. Watt
for the season. Uh, Clowney gets traded to Seattle. You
continue to impress, But are you lonely? Are you getting
(14:08):
are you getting all the attention from these offensive linemen. Now,
um no, it doesn't feel lonely at all. Honestly, We've
got other guys who can really uh Russia passing off
end and they has done a great job of stepping
off as you can see in the game. And uh
they're doing a phenomenal job as far as you know,
keeping the Minshew contained for the most part, and uh
towards the end the game is really getting an appen Yeah,
(14:29):
when the congratulations on this win today, I mean when
you lose J. J. Watt, it's devastating and obviously for
your team, not just because the player is on the field,
but he just what he means that entire team and
and to come up with this kind of defensive performance today,
what does that say to you about the character of
this team? We got the guy, We got guys who
(14:50):
can five rounds, uh, you know, play hard and play
every minute the name and just really do a great
job as far as doing their job and uh, just
making sure that no matter what the situation is. Again,
I always said we're always gonna fight to win. What
was the game plan too, or I should say a
game plan today against Gardner Minshew he's been fantastic as
(15:11):
a rookie quarterback. Uh. He's outside of one other start,
he's performed exceedingly well. I think you guys sort of
gave the blueprint. Now what worked and why did it work.
I just really just keeping contained and just said allow
him to deliver the ball as a true NFL quarterback
and as soon as his first read was gone, to
(15:32):
start panicking and all them. So, of course he makes
his plays, you know, just scrambling around and guy's been
out covered and making things look scrictaculative. But you know,
if you get him to sit down and just kind
of kind of just post the pocket on him, uh,
he'll throw your ball. Whitney, you guys are sitting at
six and three right now. You're in first in that
a f C South. I'm looking at that schedule coming up. Wow,
(15:55):
you've got some big games. You're on the road against
the Ravens, home games against the Colts and the pay
So how do you feel like where this team is
right now and whether or not you guys are in
the right position even without J. J. Watt to tackle
what's coming up over the next couple of weeks. Yeah,
I mean we're feel good. I mean that's what I
(16:15):
was going into the bike w and so pretty much
what all we need to do is just uh get
our bodies back, turn the page and get on to
the next ton it you play alongside on this team,
DeShawn Watson. From my eyes, I don't I don't really
think there's a better all around quarterback in this league?
Would you agree with that? And what makes him so special?
(16:37):
I am? He just sounds an athlete first of all,
and so he's a guy he's just gonna fight to
you really go out there and go make plays, Uh
Sam plays and make something, uh make something out of nothing.
So he's done that week in a week out, and
uh truly is the prolific player in this league. Well,
the winners today the Texas twenty six to three over
(16:58):
the Jags in London. Whennet am, sure you're happy to
get back to the States, right, You're ready to get
out of London head home? Yeah, definitely, I'm ready to
go and just get back in my own bed. All right. Well, Whitney,
congratulations again, thanks so much. That's Whitney merciless there, the
linebacker for the Texans. Easy win today three over the
(17:21):
Jacksonville Jaguars, and again Gardner Minshew struggled today to two interceptions,
a couple of funnels in that fourth quarter, and they
gotta buy coming up. And a lot of people are
expecting that if Nick Foles is ready to go, uh,
that he will reclaim his starting position. And man saying
like this is exactly what the Patriots need to do
against Lamar Jackson. His description on how to continue Gardner Minshew, Uh,
(17:46):
you contain him. You forced him to operate beyond the
first read. You limit what he can do with his
legs and improvisation in order to make sure that he
has to deliver a game like a a real pocket
passer uh in the NFL. And if you can do
that to Lamar Jackson today out there in Baltimore, the
Patriots have a good chance of winning. All right. We're

The Chiefs have scored first against the Vikings, a forty
yard touchdown pastor Matt Moore to Tyreek Hill. So Mahomes
(18:32):
who Mahomes inacted today, So Matt Moore who was literally
coaching high school football a year ago at this time. Uh,
forty yard strike always helps when you throw it to
a guy like Tyreek Hill. So early on, the Vikings
are doing nothing offensively. Kirk Cousin just one of four
for five yards, Matt More five h seven fifty seven
yards and a touchdown. So so far, so good. By
(18:54):
the way, if the Chiefs do win this game today, uh,
then it then it is even more breathing room on
when you would have to bring back Mahomes again. There's
no reason at all to panic with Mahomes. And if
you look ahead to their schedule right now, those last
five games for the Chiefs after they have their bye week,
(19:15):
they have the Raiders at home, at the Patriots, Broncos
at home, at the Bears, Chargers at home. So those
are the games that you need to really win down
the stretch home games in your division, roadies against the
Patriots and the Bears. And you need a fully healthy
Patrick Mahomes because honestly, once the playoffs begin, and you
(19:36):
know this well, rich everyone zero zero starts all over again.
You need to have a very healthy Mahomes on the games, man.
I mean every you could say that's true about every
NFL team. If you're starting quarterback is injured or hurt,
uh in whatever fashion, can't go, can go, but limited
due to an injury, you're really going to struggle in
(19:57):
the postseason. Outside of outstanding efforts. You need to have
as many of your lead dogs healthy as possible. And
so it is very important for the Chiefs that Matt
Moore plays well during this short stretch while Mahomes recovers,
and if he comes back, he better be ready for
the assault that the the tail end of the schedule
(20:18):
is going to bring him. Because if there's one thing
that works when you're facing a quarterback as good as
Patrick Mahomes is getting pressure on him, getting him to
the ground, making him uncomfortable. And if the knee limits
his mobility, he's gonna be getting hit a lot more
than he was earlier this season. All right, Eagles on
the board first against the Bears on a field goal,
(20:39):
so inside four minutes to go on the first Quarteradair
Eagles leading the Bears three to nothing. So far, the
Bears have negative one yard total offense in this game.
And you gotta be wondering about Mitchell Robinsky. After his
disastrous game last week, which led to a home loss
against the Chargers, he was given the green light to
start another game. Uh not off to a good start today.
(21:01):
And this is a guy that was you moved up
second overall pick in the draft. And you gotta wonder.
I mean, because defensively, the Bears certainly are good enough
to be a playoff team. But if your quarterback can't
get the job done, do you make a change? Well,
you certainly have to start considering it. Um, they're too
three and out so far this this game. It's not
(21:23):
cutting the mustard. And Mitchell Trabiskie has a lot of
the blame to shoulder here. I mean, there were certain
throws last week and you could blame it all on
Eddie Pinero if you want to that. Every quarterback, I mean,
every quarterback in the NFL needs to be able to
make clean pocket. He had Taylor Gabriel flat beating Thomas Davis,
who's a linebacker. So this is an absurd mismatch. A
(21:46):
guy runs a four six against a stud receiver runs
a four three wide open screaming down the field and
he overthrew them by seven yards. That's a throw where
you have to loft it up there like a punt
and have Gabriel run underneath. It's un acceptable. This is
the NFL. You don't get to prove it here. You
have to be the guy. You have to earn it
(22:06):
every day. And so they have a problem right now.
And it's it's at the most important position on the
field for most well. And if you look at the
end of that game, and he had no faith in
his quarterback, he was fearful. He made a turnover you
take by taking a knee with twenty eight seconds ago.
The charges were at a time out, so you could
(22:27):
have run multiple place there. You could have run and
everything else. It was forty three seconds on the clock.
It was first intent, first to he had a time out,
and he had a time out. I mean, by the way,
Eddie per okay, And this doesn't do Naggie any favors. Right,
he goes, he gets he throws it through the head coach,
under the bus, his offensive coordinator under the bus. He goes,
(22:49):
you know what, Yeah, I'm more comfortable you know, kicking
from him between the half even if you're gonna take
a knee, how about just walking three steps here, right,
so it's in the middle of the center the football.
It just shows you the mistry to step the quarterback position.
That's that's exactly right. Because even after the game, when
Aggie was trying to say, well, I never even consider that,
and then he started going over all these scenarios about
a fumble or this every you have no faith in
(23:10):
your quarterback, how about a little rollout, a little rollout option.
I mean, you could have picked up four or five yards,
could have been the difference between winning and losing. So anyway,
Bears trailing early in this game of the Eagles threading nothing.
All right, we're in the guy. Go Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Let's find out what's trending right now. As Davids Gone
makes his first appearance of the show, how are you,
(23:31):
David Man? Yesterday? It was painful for us. That was
an app you know, it was it was s He
was up ten nothing, They throw the picks six and
then slows takes him right down the field. So you figured,
all right there, down four a half. They kickoff Hunter
yard kickoff return for a touchdown. That was just brutal,
(23:54):
and the second half was just to beat. Look, it's over.
It's over for Clay Heldon. I like Clay Hilton. Uh,
but it's over. They've already made up their mind. They
got the new athletic director ready to roll. Mr gascon
Urban Meyer has a blank check as simple as that. Yeah,
it'll be fun. We'll see what happens when it comes
around next season. Anyways, all kinds of things going on today.
Kansas City in Minnesota again, a fake handoff mort the
(24:15):
Riot hatch gunning at long and once Hill right side
touch extracted for the end zone touchdown. Chansas City Chiefs
Radio Network Terry Hill one grab, but it's good for
forty yards. Kansas City leading right now seven or nothing,
but the Vikings are on the move inside the red
zone of Kansas City. Colton Steelers in the first quarter.
It's three three Titans and Panthers or schools right now.
(24:37):
Midway through the first quarter. In that affair, Sam Darneld,
the New York Jets break them up, take the snap,
drops back, looks right, Cloks one of the inside the
wide up and Jamison Crowder. Crowder has got a catch
for a touchdown and Jets Radio Networth. They lead right
now seven or nothing, and that a fair Bills early
on lead the Redskins tend to nothing. Josh Allen is
six of eight ninety two yards and also one touchdown pass.
(24:59):
Philadelphia picked a field goal and they leave the Chicago
Bears through nothing. As you guys mentioned earlier today, Texans
beat the Jaguars three Deshaun Watson twenty eight two one
yards and also a couple of scores Batte fellas. All right,
thank you very much, Mr gasc On. Once again, we
are coming alive from the Guy Go Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Easy to say FI cent more on your car insurance
(25:21):
with Guy Go go to Guy Got dot com or
call eight nine four seven otto. The only hard part
figuring out which way is easier. The Bills have now
added a field goal. Uh so it's ten nothing there
with the Bills and Josh Allen off to a good
start six of eight ninety two yards and a touchdown,
so he's looking good. Um, you gotta wonder about the
Redskins right now. What do you think they're gonna do
(25:42):
as far as a new coach next year? What? What?
What direction are they looking? Well? I mean they're gonna
have to probably hire an offensive minded head coach, somebody
who can make their first round draft pick in Dwayne
Haskins junior work out. Otherwise they're gonna suffer two embarrassments
consecutive in the extra point. We're going to tie up
this game. So on a third and goal quick strike there.
(26:06):
Kirk Cousins, of course, coming off a phenomenal month of
October where he looked like a league m v P
that I predicted to be uh much. Everyone's laughing early on,
but uh yeah, this was a much needed touchdown there.
And don't often see wide open windows in the red zone,
especially the low red. But what a great play designed
by the Vikings. What you saw there is what's common
(26:28):
down in the low red. Are these pick plays? Right?
So Johnson, it looked like he was setting up the
middle linebacker of the Chiefs for one of those picks,
and there was no crossing route coming. He faked it.
He did a swim over the top of the linebacker,
and Cousins threw a dart to the back of the
end zone, finding him just over the ancient Chiefs. All right,
Colts and Steelers are tied at three, were just underway
(26:51):
in the second quarter in this game, and the Indianapolis
Colts are deep into Pittsburgh territory inside the ten yard line.
Actually they just an illegal ship penalty. Jacoby Barsett so
far in this game is a perfect four for four
for fifty nine yards. Uh. And the Colts looking to
take the lead again. The Colts are five and two
(27:11):
on the season. Uh, they are looking outstanding at least
record wise. They don't seem to be missing Andrew Luck
at all. And uh and and again we predicted this rich.
I mean, it wasn't like Burssette was a stranger to
this team. Uh. Two years ago he had to start
when Luck was out all year. Last year, of course
Luck was the player comeback player of the Year, but uh,
(27:34):
he had a full year Brisset to work under Frank
Reich and knows this offense. And so they really haven't
missed a beat. Mac obviously has been a force at
that running back position. So right now three three, But
the Colts are knocking on the door deep in Steelers territory.
You know what's funny about the Andrew luckless Colts, as
they seem more balanced to me, there's lots of a
(27:56):
alliance on the quarterback position, which I think has highlighted
this great run game in Marlon Mack. Brissette's not nearly
as dynamic as a young, healthy Andrew luck Is, but
he's a terrific, terrific game manager. And again that's not
an insult. I refer to Jimmy Garoppolo that way. I'll
refer to Tom Brady that way. It is great when
(28:17):
you have a guy on the field who gets you
in the correct run formations and changes the play at
the line of scrimmage and understands the situation. And with
the head coach like Frank Ryk, who likes to get
aggressive down in the red zone and on fourth down,
you need someone who you can trust at quarterback. And
this team, helmed by Brissette, looks very balanced, looks very polished.
(28:38):
The offense is rarely an issue when you're thinking about, boy,
they gave that game away. It doesn't happen a lot,
all right, Jet's leaving the Dolphins seven nothing. Sam Donald
red hot early on, but now fits magic is starting
to work his magic as he is moving the Dolphins
down the field. Of course, Miami coming in this game
at oh and seven. The Bengals are at oh and eight,
(28:59):
we got a couple of winless teams. Go on here
right now. We were talking about this yesterday on the show,
about Josh rosen situation in Miami and how bad it
must be for a young quarterback who was the tenth
overall pick in the draft a year ago by Arizona,
not only getting done by Arizona, but being on a
team that is winless and you're sitting on the bench.
(29:23):
It's terrible. Behind a guy like Ryan Fitzpatrick, who obviously
everyone loves Ryan Fitzpatrick, but please, no, no, Ryan Fitzpatrick.
I would say in this league at this point, his
worth is being a very competent, smart veteran backup quarterbacks
who can lend his savvy to the room, preparation ideas
to the room. But he is oftentimes too much of
(29:43):
a liability to put out there on the football field
because he's fairly careless with the football. He'll throw it
into triple coverage with that big red beard. I mean,
he smiles in the face of danger. Josh Rosen unfortunately
has been damaged. And what I mean by that is
coming out of UCL he was considered top of the
board in many war rooms. He was taking tenth overall.
(30:04):
He said there were nine mistakes made behind him prior
to his selection, and he had two offensive coordinators in
McCoy than Byron left which suffered a trade in the
offseason for a first overall pick to be taken by
the Cardinals, and tried his might to break through as
a starter with the Dolphins, but can't get it done.
He may end up being a career backup, like the
(30:25):
quarterback he's starting behind. Yeah, yesterday t J. Hushman's at
our buddy was here with me and I asked him
about Rosen again. He you know, he works in the
high schools and everything else here coaching a lot of
these guys. He goes, Look, I'm telling you right now,
that guy can throw the football. He absolutely can. He
can throw the football. So I don't know what's going
on right now, but it's obviously not happening in Miami.
They got their site set on a quarterback obviously in
(30:47):
the upcoming draft. Uh, Jacobe Brissette is out right now.
What do we know about this Ryan? He seems to
be holding his knee. He alignment hit him in the knee,
so he's he's on the sideline currently all right, Well
they got a third and goal right now, they're at
the eleven yard line. They removed back with a penalty,
and we've got a touchdown. Just like that touchdown, Cults
(31:11):
goes to Doyle over the middle. Uh So, Jacoby Perce said,
we'll give that Brian Hoyer. It certainly is okay. So
in that you're a guy, Brian Hoyer. Yeah. So to
give you a brief history of Brian Horrior and rich
Ermberger host here today. Um I was drafted by the Patriots.
(31:32):
He was signed as an undrafted free agent. Uh. And
our careers, I mean we spanned all these We played
against each other pennce day Michigan State. We played with
each other again after New England and Arizona. I mean,
one of my best friends and gets another opportunity to
shine in a reserve role. Spent many years as Tom
(31:53):
Brady's backup. Perfect strike, first play, third and goal, eleven yards,
Jack Doyle touchdown. We're just talking about competent backups in
this league. Again, there is nothing wrong being a backup
quarterback in the NFL. It's virtually stealing. You get to
wear a headset, eat a lot of sunflower seeds, you
get to sit next to the guy who's taking all
the abuse throughout the season, getting paid millions of dollars.
(32:16):
And then when you get in the game, expectations are low,
and oftentimes you overshine those expectations because if you're smart,
if you understand your role and the job at hand,
and you have talent, you can you can oftentimes manage
a game to a victory. And so I have no
question this is knowing him well. Knowing Frank Reich, well,
(32:37):
I played for him when I was in the Chargers.
He was offensive coordinator in teen. Uh, knowing this system, well,
he's going to be just fine today. As the Colts
lose Jacobe bur set potentially early on in this game,
Eagles have added another field goal, so we got thirteen
minutes to go on behalf. The Bears have negative one
total yards in this game. It's one teen to negative one,
(33:02):
nine first downs to zero. Trabisky and let me talk
to you about tack tick tick. The Bears are coming
off of a brutal loss we just mentioned to the Chargers,
and it is a game where actually Montgomery had one
of the best games he's had so far to date. Uh,
(33:22):
he had a hundred thirty five yards on the ground.
They ran a lot from the I formation. So the
fact that they're really struggling today early on against these Eagles, Uh,
that's that's that does not bode well. I mean, it
either says something awful about the Chargers defense or it
says something really really great about how the Eagles are
playing current. Put it this way, there's a lot of
(33:43):
zeros on the Chicago left right now. I mean one
nineteen to negative one total yards. However, the Eagles uh
six and not team. We have an update right now
in Jacoby Brissett. No on Adam Steeling. Adam is questionable
to return with the hamstring. So this is a injury
of the hamstring from two weeks ago. Adam feeling hurt himself,
(34:06):
actually missed the game. Did they play the Redskins last week?
I believe they did touchdown Dolphins. Yes, Ryan fits Magic
doing it again. He threw a touchdown pass here to Williams.
That would be, of course, Preston Williams. So the Dolphins
have tied up that game. Uh seven seven. When the
guy go Fox Sports Radio Studios, I'll tell you what's
(34:28):
really an anomaly so far? Early on this Sunday morning.
We have yet to have a miss extra point. I
mean we've been started doing this miss extra point. Who's
going to be the first? Everyone's perfect so far. Well,
don't change it because somebody has got Terry is up.
He's been out on a rocky season, the Hall of Famer,
you know. So we go. There's a lot of game left,
by the way, with the one game we haven't mentioned,
(34:49):
there's a reason Tennessee and Carolina no score there in
the second quarter. There all right, when the guy go
Fox Sports Radio studios. If you are anxious to find
out abody everything happening on this d fall Sunday, there's
only one place to be Fox Sports Red Zone Radio
with Hartman at Orenburger More coming up next. Brian Hoyer
(35:10):
is in the shotgun formation. He's got three receivers to
the right, ball in the far Hash takes a shotgun
snapbacks to throw. He's got time throws over the middle.
It's called by Jack Doyle, cross of the goal line touchdown.
I n d y Jack Doyle with this second touchdown
of the season, eleven yards from Brian Hoyer. And that
is Colts Radio Network, And once again we are here
(35:33):
on this beautiful Sunday. We only have six games this morning.
It's actually a fairly light load for us, UH compared
to our normal big Sundays. By the way, coming to
Hooters every Monday all season to play Monday Night money Ball,
we're just a few easy questions away from a chance
at cash prizes, freebees, and a trip to the season
ender in Miami. Play Monday Night Moneyball at Hooters moneyball
(35:57):
dot com. The Redskins got a field goal, so they
are trailing the Bills now ten to three. UM. A
little bit later on, we're gonna get into the new
dynamic with the Chargers, who are going to be hosting
the Packers. I say that loosely because we know that,
including our own Leadal lap here at Fox Sports touchdown Bills,
(36:19):
that that steam is gonna be overrun by Packer fans.
So the Bills just score another touchdown to increase their lead.
You had Alan to knocks on that touchdown, and we
have the Steelers knocking on the door in the high
fringe area. They're right around trying to get into field
goal range, and it looks like the Colts defense held,
so they'll be punting, UH, trying to pin the coult steep. Alright,
(36:44):
So Vikings chiefe which is the game of the moment. Uh.
The Chief's obviously trying to avoid a fourth home loss
in the season, which is really remarkable when you think about.
Of course, they haven't lost a game on the road.
I guess that's the good news for the Chiefs taken
on a Vikings team that we're still trying to get
our bearings with the Vikings. All right, they had a
great month to get to six and two. You look
(37:04):
at the NFC right now. Richie got the undefeated forty Niners.
He got the Packers and Saints with one loss each.
He got the Seahawks and the Vikings with two losses each.
So it's really stacked at the top right now. Are
you all in with the Vikings. He's still waiting to
see them maybe with a signature game obviously. Yeah, this
would be really honestly, even though Matt Moore is playing
(37:26):
instead of Patrick Mahomes, and you'd love to see the
Mahomes Cousins matchup, especially with Cousins playing so well through
this four game stretch. Yeah, I mean, this is the
wind that I've been waiting for. They need to have
a you have to be a big team to be
considered right, and this would be the biggest victory on
their document. By the way, the Bills didn't get in
(37:48):
on that touchdown throat and knocks. His butt was on
the ground, ball was short of the goal and Gore
just got stuffed by this Redskins defense. First and goal.
Pretty inspired there, by the way. He finally got a
score on the Panthers Titans game. It's the Panthers with
a field goal early on Ryan Tannehill after taking over
in Tennessee's played pretty well so forth today. Good start
(38:10):
for for four or fifty six yards. Kyle Allen, of course,
suffered a loss last week, had been perfect until then,
struggling a little bit today just four of ten passing
seventy two yards. So once again the Bills looking to
knock it in second a goal to give it right
back to Gore and he got stoned again. I don't
see if money in the wrong direction, that's not a
good sign. So he did not get in the end zone.
(38:33):
That's crazy stuff right now. Look at this redskin team
fired up all of a sudden, showing a little backbone here,
and they need to stop the Bills if if they
want any chance of getting a victory here at home,
or it should say, on the road against these Buffalo Bills,
they need to get a stop here. They're trailing by seven. Uh,
it is getting ever closer to halftime. And I formation
(38:55):
again Josh Allen under center, similar tight end motion and
it is a end off up the middle of Frank Gore.
Is he stuffed again? Look at that? They ran him
three straight times into the middle of that Redskins defense
and they got nothing nothing. Wow. So it is fourth
and goal? So now do you go for here? So
(39:17):
you've basically ran the same is so lead play three
times in the road, stopped at the half yard? Do
you do you go for it on fourth down? Here?
They're going for it. Here we go fourth and goal
and there's a quarterback sneak and no signal, no signal,
(39:38):
no signal, no signal. They're looking and they're touchdown Bill's score.
They are ruling a touchdown. Boy, that was a long wait,
Josh Allen, this giant quarterback, why wouldn't you just sneak
the ball? Makes sense? Uh? And barely. I'm we just
wanted to take time off the clock. I think We're
all aware of the plan. All right, where the guy go,
(40:00):
Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's early on, but we've got
a long way to go. Yes, Fox Sports Red Zone Radio,
Hartman and Ormburger for all your latest NFL news. Keeping
her on Fox Sports Radio. Yes, rolling along on this
big NFL a Sunday. Hartman and Ormburger with you, and
once again we are coming alive from the get go
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen
(40:22):
percent of more on your car insurance. Visit guy Go
dot com for a free rate quote. All right, So
the Bills with that touchdown that they snug it in
with Josh Allen, uh down seventeen They're up seventeen three
over the Redskins right now tonight. Three times trying to
run Frank Core out of I formation, first in goal
(40:43):
after Knox gets them within a half yard and finally
Josh Allen able to pummel through over the goal line
for the score. By the way, the Bears are really
struggling today. Uh, if you've been watching this UM Chicago
Bears game, Uh, it has been a rough day against
Philadelphia Eagles. But do we have a guest now it's
(41:10):
time for the NFL Fox Focus. Oh you don't just
have a guess we have one of the old time
for kids. Yes, he of course now is a Fox
NFL color analysts, many time pro bowler in his great
NFL career in Ohio State legend, the great Chris Spielman
is joining us right now. He is working the Lions
Raiders game. Chris, We've been talking about the situation with
(41:33):
the Chiefs right now atop the a f C West.
They're sitting mahomes right now. How many losses could they
afford and still be in control in the a f
C West And a lot depends on the Raiders right now.
They gotta run of home games here. What do you
make of this Raider team and are they a legit
contender to at least put pressure on the Chiefs in
the a f C West. Well, I think obviously right now,
(41:56):
that's the fact that they're home after forty nine days
and they have three in a row. I'll tell you,
look at their offense. They're probably the most balanced offense
in the league. Their offensive line is playing really well.
You look at Josh Jacobs and what he's been able
to do as a rookie. You know, as long as
Derek Carr makes those good decisions and converts crucial throws
(42:16):
on crucial downs, the Raiders can go on and run.
I think they're good enough. They're much incruised over last year,
and it starts today against the Lions, who were also
in the same boat as the Raiders. You know, when
you sat down with John Gruden ahead of this game preparing,
did he mention the six weeks on the road? Did
did he complain about it at all? Because you could
(42:36):
argue about how they're the only team in their division
facing such a ridiculously long road schedule for for I mean,
for what it's worth, that's that's a stretch no one
else maybe in the league is gonna have to face.
WY know, Tampa also had a tough road schedule. But yeah,
we talked about it, but there's nothing you can do
(42:58):
about it. I think like all coaches, you get to Friday,
you're kind of dialed in on what's coming up Sunday.
You know, he just said it wasn't fair, but I
think his team played pretty well. And actually Derek Carr
addressed this issue and said it was a good chance
for these guys to Bond. I mean when they were
over in London, they were going to soccer games together
and hanging out and they become closer. So they took
(43:20):
advantage of a difficult situation and made the most of it.
Derek Carr has played very well this year, and I
guess what makes it more interesting, Chris, is that all
the guys that were projected to be as receivers before
the season, like, none of them are there. I mean
they've gone through a variety of wide receivers. But what
are you seeing right now on film taking a look
(43:41):
at Derek Carr's a game right now. Well, he got
Tyrelle Williams back last week which has helped. Now, I
had a couple of drops, but he also had three
big catches from nine one yards. So you've got a
guy that sit down field threat and the timing with
his receivers is starting to come into play. Of course,
you have Waller who's a huge target and tight end.
He certainly likes the throw too. But the reason why
(44:02):
I think Derek is excelling. I asked him the difference
between this year and last year. It's two things. It's
you know, they can run three things. Excuse me. They
have better players than they did last year, which is obvious, right.
There's a better offensive line which has been outstanding, and
the fact, of course they can run the ball, so
they're able to control a situation a little bit, where
(44:23):
last year they had, you know, zero running game. It's
not very effective. You know. When I think about the Raiders,
and I think this is probably not obvious to a
lot of people. I think about how well built they are,
the attention and the money that they've spent on the
offensive line. I feel like this team is built right,
(44:43):
and it's built right for the long run. How do
you feel about how Mayck has done as a first
year general manager and how some of the draft picks
have been performing well. I had a great conversation with
Mike uh Friday at practice, and you know, the number
one thing is that the head coach and the generalman
ends or have the same vision, right. I mean, everybody
knows you're that Gruden's got the final say on things.
(45:06):
But as long as the general manager and head coach
are in constant communication about what type of player you want,
what type of personality do you want, what type of
team are we going to build? That Mike does a
good job of evaluating and presenting the options to John.
Then John makes decision. For example, Josh Jacobs, Right, Josh
wasn't even a starter at Alabama last year. But what
(45:29):
they loved about Josh Jacobs, and this is John Grue's checklist,
is that first and foremost, you've gotta be able to
pass protect the play. For John Gruden, it's a running
back position. You have to be able to catch the
ball out of the back field. The third thing they
look at is the ability to run the football. So
Mike was pasked to go out and find that guy,
and they certainly did. What's with Josh Jacobs. So I
(45:49):
think Mike has done a great job. He understands what
type of players are needed and what type of team
they're building. And as long as you stick to that philosophy,
you have a great chance to have success. And and
you know John's offense is working. It's a second year
in the system with better players, and like I said,
you have a quarterback that's playing pretty well. Fox NFL
color analyst Chris Spielman is joining us work in the
Lions Raiders game. Of course, in your eight years as
(46:11):
a Lion, he made four Pro Bowls. You know this organization. Well, Chris,
where are we right now? The Lions were undefeated after
three games, then the last three in a row. They
are able to beat the Giants. But where are we
right now with this Lions team. Well, defensively, they're you know,
they're hanging in there. Uh, They're not very good against
the run. They were good against the run in the
(46:33):
second half of last year after they made this trade
for Damon Harrison. Damon Harrison hasn't been the player that
Damon Harrison was last year. If Damon can get back
to that form last year, that helps that defense as
a whole. So nas and injuries will slay their best
cover guy and they played more man to man and
anybody in defense and in the in the league. We'll
(46:54):
see what if he can go today or not go.
But I think the teams at a crossroads right because
obviously you lose Carrie on Johnson, which I think was
as an excellent player and in a really good running back.
Now they're back, Okay, Matthew, you go win it for us,
you know, And he's done that, and you take a
look at at least numbers wise, and you take a
look at Matthew is able to do uh with pretty
(47:16):
good wide receivers and two big targets that win take
fifty fifty balls in turning balls and Marvin Jones and
Kenny Golladay a couple of years now, and the Matt
Patricia culture is growing in Detroit. What's your evaluation of
how things have gone for the line since Patricia has
become the headman there. Well, I think they're going in
(47:38):
the right direction, right. I mean again, it's with Bob
Quinn and Matt Patricia working together. I believe it's. It's
Bob's third year here the general manager, and so he
and Matt have a vision. Now. You know, eventually, though
you start, you have to get results. You know, everybody
is expecting results, and that's the NFL, and so the
pressure to win games is really I think Matt is
(48:01):
a very good coach. I think he has a type
of offensive guy. He wants in here now with with
the bevil and so we'll see what happens. Uh. They're
hampered a little bit because of the loss of carrying
on Johnson. But you know, coaches are judged. I think
good coaches are judged on how they manage injuries throughout
a team, you know if they're manageable or not, and
you find ways to get it done. And right now
(48:24):
they're asking Stafford in that wide receiving crew to get
it done well. Two teams definitely trying to fight their
way into playoff contention right now. Lions on the road
against the Raiders. Chris, great job as always, man. We'll
talk to you down the road, all right. Appreciate you guys.
Thank you all right, Chris Fieldman joining us Sarah the
Fox NFL color analysts. By the way, we had our
first miss extra point of the day, and it was
(48:44):
Jake Elliott of the Eagles, just edging out at a
vin terry. Who how many? How many of miss extra
points are vinyitary this year? So check this out. He's uh,
he's he missed five of his first day field goals
this season, right, and then he missed two more field
goals last week against Denver, but then he hits the
fifty one yard or to win it. So it's been
(49:06):
a struggle all season for Adam Vintarry. We'll see what
what this does for Brian Hoyer, who's now supporting this
offense as Jacoby Brissett left the field with an ankle
and he's been in since. But every single point, especially
when you're backups in the game at quarterback, is important.
A military costs someone there. Jake Elliot, by the way,
has been a phenomenal kicker for the Eagles. So this
(49:28):
is a rarity in Philadelphia. All right, So let's get
you updated on all the games right now. Buffalo leading
Washington seventeen to three, under a minute to go in
the first half. Their Kansas City leading the Vikings ten seven,
four and a half minutes to go on the half, Miami, Miami,
the windless Dolphins leading the Jets fourteen and seven, six
minutes to go on the half. We got the Eagles
up twelve, not the under five minutes ago, and they
(49:49):
half over the halpless Bears, Indianapolis leading sixteen to ten
at Pittsburgh under a minute to go in the half there,
and Carolina leading Tennessee by a score of a ten
to nothing. All right, We're gonna have much more here
on the Fox Sports Red Zone Radio, but first let's
head to the Vegas Strip. Eight Sports fans, this is
(50:10):
insider John Anthony coming to you from the Las Vegas Strip.
HI message phoneus red hot against spread called the number
now one eight hundred two one six sixty six fifteen.
That's one eight hundred two one six sixty six fifteen.
My information is in. Today, I'm releasing three plays Detroit Oakland,
Tampa Bay in Seattle, and the late game New England
(50:31):
at Baltimore. That's three games. That's three locks three and
over the season three hundred two on six sixty six fifteen.
That's one hundred two on six sixty six fifteen. That's
three games, three locks three and over the season free
call unred two and six sixty six fifteen. That's one
hundred two one six sixty six fifteen. Now let's take
(50:54):
a quick look at the matchups. Detroit heads west to Oakland.
Oakland is finally home after a four game roll trip
and a trip to London. They're coming off toup of
loss at Houston. Detroit needs this win to keep any
wild card hopes alive. My information is confirmed. I love
this matchup and I have the winner. Tampa Bay is
in Seattle. After starting the season two and two. Tampa
(51:15):
Bay comes in on a three game losing streak. Seattle
looks like they can make a deeper runt of the playoffs.
The total is a play on this one. I love
it twins easy. And finally, the late game, the last
game of the day, New England at Baltimore. What a
way to end a day. Division leaders face off in
prime time. Ken New England's defense contain Lamar Jackson is
(51:35):
Baltimore threat to New England's reign. The number on this
one is tricky, but my information is confirmed. The game
is huge for me. My top move, the biggest player
of the day. It's a lot erry have a three
uth plays on the message phone. I'm red hot against
the spread called one eight hundred two on six sixty
six fifteen. That's one eight hundred two one six sixties
(51:56):
six fifteen. That's three games, that's three line three and
over the season three six sixty six fifteen. That's one
eight hundred two one six sixty six fifteen. What do
you I love that it's week number nine in the NFL.
(52:17):
We gotta start, let's go and as the games go
down or go find I'm listen right here to all
the reaction on Fox Sports Radio. Talent fakes to McCaffrey,
throws to McCaffrey right clout he will walk in touchdown Carolina.
(52:37):
But we're talking about Grapel likes to gamble with the Titans,
but Riverboat Round has been doing it a long time
and that was a big gamble. And fourth but two
that converted A's w BT and the Panthers radio network.
So Christian McCaffrey seven yard touchdown reception there from Kyle Alan,
Panthers leading the Titans ten another. We got a little
bit more than two minutes to go in the first
(52:58):
half there, McCaffrey, as Ohay's is a upon anza for
all you people out there with fantasy football. Fifty eight
yards rushing on fifteen carries, two receptions, ten yards and
that touchdown. By the way, I'll tell you one team
you don't want to have today in fantasy football. That
would be the Chicago Bears. Um with four minutes to
go on be half, they had one total yard in
(53:19):
offense and zero first downs. Now they just had a
past completion. Good, Still no first downs to go. We're
at the two minute warning. Eagles leading in this game
twelve nothing, zero first downs. They do have eight penalties
for fifty six yards. See that's the biggest problem there. Look,
I mean when it's not going a second. I have
(53:40):
an update on their total yards negative tent. So they
now have in this game, the Bears have no first
downs and negative ten total yards with two minutes to
go in the first half. So for all you Chicago
fans who we're wondering, could anything hurt more than losing
(54:04):
by one point to the lowly Chargers this season at home,
the answer is yes. Send your Bears on the road
of Philadelphia and through a half of football, have them
perform worse than any team so far this season, any
team so far this season. That's saying a lot because
it's week ten. Now, how do you get to negative tent?
Let let me give you a review of the Bears
(54:25):
offense again, two minute warning right now. So Mitchell Robinski
is four of nine for twelve yards, but he's also
been sacked three tips for negative twenty three yards, and
Montgomery has three carries for one yard. That is the
full extent of the rushing game added up, they are
at negative ten total yards with zero first downs two
(54:50):
minutes to go in the first half. Touchdown Dolphins. Okay, okay,
another touchdown? Well, look the heck's going on here? Said Williams.
Had Davante Parker. And now who just got on the
board for the Dolphins this time. I gotta look at
this box score that just flashed up there on red
(55:10):
zone read it was read Okay, I'm sorry, I'm sorry,
that was Williams. Williams. It was Williams again. So preston
Williams for a second touchdown reception for the Williams Ryan
Fitzpatrick found him on a twelve yard out. Well, this
is not what the Dolphins need right now, right yeah.
And by the way, if the Jets continue to lose,
(55:33):
just lose this game. Obviously they are tied with Miami. Sure,
well listen, I mean, if there's a game where you
can you can afford to win, I mean, I guess
this is the one for the Dolphins. I guess. The
only good news for the Jests today is that Sam
Darnald actually has played. Okay, in fact, better O case
thirteen is sixteen hundwenty yards, one touchdown, no interceptions. But
(55:58):
when you give up three touchdown passes to Ryan Fitzpatrick
in the first half of the game, that's not really
saying much about your defense, right Well, no, and it's
a Jets defense that actually through it all, hasn't been
playing awful so far this season. I mean outside of
say the Eagles game, in the Patriots games, Uh, they've
(56:18):
been actually pretty decent and limiting the scoring. Do we
have the Vikings in the red zone now? Yeah, we do.
So the Chiefs are leading the Vikings ten to seven.
Now we got forty seconds to go on a half.
Dalvin Cook just made a nice run on first down,
so second and short. Uh, as they are down into
close to the red zone. Uh. The Minnesota Vikings cousins
(56:38):
has been indifferent in this game, eight of fifte six
yards a touchdown, noe picks. Actually, Matt Moore's outplayed him
fourteen and nineteen and twenty seven yards and a touchdown there.
It's been a pretty close game. But right now the
Vikings are trying to get themselves into the end zone
or at very least a game tying field goal. Uh.
Dalvin cooks so far eleven carries for already one yards
(57:01):
in this game. So we'll keep our eye on that
one as we close in on the half. Vikings. UH,
tell you what's far. I think the Chiefs defense has
represented itself pretty well. In fact, they seem to have
a bit of a breakout game a week ago. New
defensive scheme for the Chiefs played much better last week
and doing a pretty good job against this high power
Vikings attack. Past two weeks, they've they've had thirteen sacks.
(57:25):
That's a whole boatload um and and they obviously wanted
to make a change after last season it was always
a battle of the offenses when a Chiefs game was
on because the defense was atrocious. So Steve Spagnolo has
taken upon himself while Patrick Mahomes has been injured to
really up the aggressiveness. They're playing a lot more manned defense,
(57:47):
They're blitzing a lot more often, and the aggressiveness is
paid off. They're getting to the pastor Kirk Cousins has
been confounded at times through the early going in this game.
Now Dealen has hurt, he's out of this game, and
Digs has one catch for four yards. So when you
when you think about Dealing and Diggs passing the end
zone to nobody, well, see, and that's a problem when
Adam Feeling is a big part of your game plan
(58:09):
and you don't have him on the field. Because that
was a corner route. Somebody was supposed to be in
the spot that Cousins just threw that ball. I don't
think he was trying to throw it away and nobody
was home. So is that a miscommunication? Very well could
have been all right, fourth in one, I would assume, Yeah,
they're gonna go for it. They're gonna go for it.
They're gonna go for it here. Look, and I like
(58:29):
this aggressiveness because depending on who gets the ball and
not just take the field goal. Now, look again, when
you're on the road and you're playing against you're at
the fifteen yard line, a thirty two yard field goal,
you're not gonna take that. I like the aggressiveness on fourth,
and we guess we'll find out if you like it.
In a second. The past is complete, all right. So
they did get the first down. Clock runs down to
(58:50):
twenty three seconds to go, so quick out got the
yards necessary, uh for the Vikings to continue to move
the ball. And a scoring update here touchdown Panthers to
Curtis Samuel. So the Panthers up sixteen that thing, penning
the extra point as they are the Titans. Oh wow,
(59:10):
that was a really nice route concept by the Vikings,
by the way, to get that first down on fourth
and one basically had four verticals, with the exception of Treadwell.
I believe caught that ball. I didn't get a number.
I was looking at the corner of my eye. But
he broke off a route, just ran a quick five
yard out and his corner would just continued running as
if he was running the fly all right pass on
(59:31):
the end zone. That is there a flag? There could
be a flag that looked like interference to me. The
tackle on that Oh wow, the nickel absolutely knocked over
one of the Vikings receivers on his pass route. No
flag thrown. Her cousins looking up in disbelief, they go
back to I mean that's in the end zone. That
would be a first down in the one yard like
you wouldn't challenge that play. Churse. The problem with these
(59:53):
challenges in the past. Challenge these referees, these officials have
screwed up all of these pass interference challenges. You do
not waste the challenge there in that spight. So the
ball is just outside the ten yard line, right, you know,
eighteen seconds to go on the up. The officials are
going to look at it. I think they are gonna
look at it. Oh that's the other part of the
rule I forgot. Within the two minutes you're not able
(01:00:15):
to ask for a review of a non he's able
to do it. So New York, I assume saw that
play where somebody's beeper went off, and all of a sudden,
the vikings are going to get Probably more likely they're
listening to us right now, because I don't think there's
any question about that at very least that was exactly
(01:00:39):
very least that was holding, because it did. I mean,
he could have been to the spot had he not
been held, and it was. It was very slight hold,
not enough to slow him down and not catch the ball.
A scoring update here, Jets touchdown Sam Donald to Ryan Griffin.
All right, so don't don't question Sam Donald ghost or not.
By the way, he's fifteen of eighteen hundred, forty one
yards and two touch downs right now, penning the extra point.
(01:01:02):
Dolphins leading that. Yeah, but look across the room at
Ryan Fitzpatrick, who's twelve of nineteen won sixty three touchdowns
no interceptions. Being uh to me, Fitzpatrick, maybe you wouldn't
have to tank for two if you get that sort
of production out of that. But you never know, all right,
So they are reviewing this play again whether it was
(01:01:25):
a whole Well, they can't reverse a hole, that would
have to be an interference. Well, at the end of
the play he was knocked over. No, of course, call
stands second down for the Vikings. So to be second
and ten, eighteen seconds left on the clock. It's virtually
second and goal here as there are on the eleven
yard line going in. All right, it's interesting that this
game is still not to halftime and they've already started
(01:01:46):
the second half. In the Buffalo Washing game, they kicked
off at the exact same time. So these delays are
making this game endless right now, all right, eighteen seconds
to go. We got second and goal just outs our
second and ten just out the end. That's thrown out
of way. Wow, she's doing a pretty good job defensively
right now. We are not seeing very many open Vikings receivers.
(01:02:08):
So third and ten coming up for the Vikings there
with seventy How did that only take one second? Only
one second came off the clock on that play. That
clock has to be wrong. There's no way there was
only one four second, five second play at least. Um,
But you know what, Kirk Cousins. Maybe something here throughout
the back of the end zone. Yeah. If I was
(01:02:30):
Kansas City, I'd be absolutely furious right now. Okay, Okay,
So kirk Cousins facing the most important drive potentially he is.
We got we got two TVs on the here's the
up to date that's thrown out of the end zone
as well. They're gonna have the last shot other otherwise
they're gonna kick the field goal. They're gonna kick a
field goal now on fourth and ten. So that's that.
(01:02:52):
So the Vikings looking for a field that would tie
up this game. Uh nine second, let's go on the
first half. Chiefs currently leading the Vikings by a score
of at ten to seven. Uh One. Game we've been
talking very little about because it's been a very one
side of game as Carolina and the Titans. Panthers leading
this game seventeen nothing. So the Panthers, remember they had
(01:03:13):
rattled off four straight wins with Kyle Allen. Then last
week they got absolutely destroyed by the forty Niners fifty
one to third team. But it's a nice bounce back
game today against the Titan team that had actually been
playing pretty well ever since Ryan Tannehill had taken over.
They had back to back wins coming into this game.
Are you surprised Carolina has dominated so far? Well, no, no,
(01:03:37):
because I think this is a prideful bunch. I believe
in Rivera as a head coach and a motivator. They
actually were earmarking the forty Niners game last week as
a measuring stick game. Well, they didn't measure up, like
you mentioned. They got absolutely embarrassed in San Francisco. So
hosting the Titans, it's a big one. There's a battle
of the backup qbs. You mentioned Allen, of course, tan
(01:03:58):
Hill replacing Mariota all Allen has strown for over a
thousand yards, seven touchdowns, and all three of his interceptions.
He had zero going into the forty Niners in his
five starts. Uh, and he had them all committed in
San Francisco, a big reason why the Panthers lost that game.
So bounce back I certainly was expecting, and you expect
(01:04:19):
them to dominate quite the way they have. But they
lead seventeen nothing at home? All right, so the field
go good for the Vikings ten all right? Now, final
seconds of the first half. There, Hey, we got some
good news for the Bears. Alright, so we got ten
seconds to go in the half there, and in fact
they're just running off the final play. Um the Bears
are out of the negative, al right, so they go
(01:04:40):
into the half. They ended up with nine total yards
and two first downs, so total yards in this game.
One for the Eagles, nine total yards for the Bears.
Eagles leading this game by a score of twelve, and
athe Mitchell Trobiski a red hot six of thirteen for
(01:05:00):
twenty four yards. So if you do the math on that,
that's four yards a completion. Uh, if you subtract the
twenty three yards and sacks, that would be a net
of one passing yard in the first half for the
Chicago Bears. You know, it's so disturbed to make it
change at halftime. It's possible, we'll see it. What's so
(01:05:21):
disturbing about this is the fact that the Chargers were
only able to rush for thirty six yards in total
last week, I mean, and so this jackal and high
Bears defense is now let up eighty one yards in
this half. And you already mentioned the passing in being
successful one one through the air and a touchdown throne
from once to Earth's uh, this Bear team has just
(01:05:43):
been pitiful through a two game stretch. Now, all right,

(01:06:04):
We got a side of the clock here, Sorry about that,
Mr Gascon. I got some bad news. What's that? I
got some really really bad news. Que touchdown Miami, who
goga look that they were gonna run? It went one
on one to Preston Williams on the outside and he
made it look easy. Guys. The hope and the desire
(01:06:24):
to have Miami go owen sixteen is and some serious
jeopardy right now. And they just got a pick off
Sam Donald at the goal line there. So Miami. Remember
that jet score we were talking about, It was taken
off the board. It's twenty one seven Dolphins go ahead guys. Now,
No, no no, I'm not gonna say another word. Eagles to
have nothing over the Chicago Barrys right now, Chiefs and
(01:06:47):
Vikings ten apiece right now, and of course in Carolina,
and got all kinds of things going on with the
Panthers defense. But their offense fakes to McCaffrey, throws to
McCaffrey right cloud, he will walk in touch down Carolina.
But we're talking about Grapo likes to gamble with the Titans,
but riverboat rounds but doing it a long time. And
that was a big gamble of fourth with two that converts. Yeah,
(01:07:08):
Panthers are dominating the first half of football, and now
they're at the break. Caroline seventeen nothing over Tennessee, Christian
McCaffrey fifteen Carris for fifty yards and the one score
of his zone Bill seventeen six of the Red Skins.
They're just coming back to the third quarter and this
one Josh Allen eight of eleven one eleven yards and
a couple of scores. Fellas. Back to you, all right, David,
Thank you very much. We're coming alive from the Getico
(01:07:30):
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Easy to say fifteen cent more
on the curR Insurance We Geico, got a guy, got
dot com or call eight seven Otto the only hard
part figuring out which way is easier. So again, Dolphins
leading this one twenty one to seven. Uh. Things are
just going from bad to worse for the Jets if
they were to lose to the windless Dolphins in this one.
(01:07:51):
So we're the half everywhere except for the Redskins game.
I'm talking about their losing right now, uh to the Bills,
and that game is just underway in the second half. Hey,
I want to get to the coaching change as far
as offensive coordinator is concerned for the Los Angeles Chargers.
They will be hosting the Packers, we say loosely uh
(01:08:14):
in this game. But Stiken is now the It's Stuken, right,
Jane Stiken, who has been the quarterback coach for the Chargers.
He actually been with the Chargers on two different occasions
as an assistant. He was a defensive assistant, went to
Cleveland for your came back to the Chargers, been the
quarterback coach. Since this is a team again that over
the last four weeks has done something that has not
(01:08:36):
been done in the NFL since nineteen six, and that
is to have less than forty yards rushing in four
consecutive games. And those just happened to be the games
that Melvin Gordon has been back for the Chargers. So,
if you're stiking right now and you're getting the game
plan ready against obviously a favored Packers team, where does
(01:08:56):
Melvin Gordon fit into your game plan today? Uh? He
wouldn't factor into my game plan. I mean, look, I'm
I'm I'm pretty pragmatic when it comes to football, right
I played the sport I was. I was in locker
rooms for six years. If you're underperforming, you don't deserve
to play. I mean, if if I was a starting
(01:09:18):
offensive lineman and I was giving up sacks, you know,
at at a ridiculous pace, I'd expect to be benched.
I don't care how much you're paying me. Right now,
Melvin Gordon is a liability in the backfield for the Chargers. Now,
the offensive line hasn't blocked particularly well, but guess what.
Virtually the same offensive line was blocking for Austin Ekeler
while he actually was having a really productive start to
(01:09:41):
his season prior to Melvin Gordon showing up on the scene.
So I don't put all of the blame on Melvin Gordon,
but I will say this, I'm going to give the
rock to the hotter hand this season. The more consistent,
the better back out of my backfield is Austin Ekeler.
There's no questioning that. Yeah, so the Stiking guy, former
(01:10:01):
U n of E quarterback back in the day, Tall
long Lean, thirty four years old. I guess the Chargers
are looking for. As Anthony Lynn, the head coach said,
he's a bright young mind. He's got ideas and everything else.
You also have a veteran quarterback that knows how he
likes to run things. Now. The good news for Stike
and he has been working side by side with Rivers
since six and those quarterback meetings. But I'm just wondering,
(01:10:25):
if if you were to leave it up to just
Rivers to make the game plan for the Chargers offense,
what does it look like? It would be a lot
more balanced than it was with Ken Wizen Hunt running
the offense. Look. I mean, if there was any criticism
that I would leve you against of Ken Winston Hunt
while he was my coordinator uh in uh San Diego
at the time with the Chargers, uh was the fact
(01:10:47):
that there were times where things were working in a
game plan and we got away from that and forsake
them for the sake of balance. And then there were
other times inexplicably where we would turn into a passing
team where we were really earmarked to be a better
running team, and we're having success on the ground. So
I think essentially, if Rivers knows himself as well as
(01:11:10):
I think he does, and playing with him for two
years and seeing how he sees the offense, he wants
to take what the defense is giving you and what
the defense will give you when you turn into a
past predominant team like the Chargers have been, is more
zone coverage, less players in the box, better opportunity to
run it. You just have to stay on blocks and
(01:11:31):
get it done whatever way you do it. Whether it's
big formation in there and you have your base offense,
or you spread it out and you get smaller in
sub offenses. Whatever it is, you just have to cover
guys up and and block the run well and stick
it up in there. I think they'll look more balanced
on the other side of this offensive coordinator change. All right,
(01:11:52):
The Colts are leading the Steelers sixteen thirteen in Pittsburgh.
Second half is underway there, under living the Mints to
go in the third quarter. Brian Hoyer, by the way,
came in for the injured Jacoby Ber said, Uh, he's
looked good. He's nine twelve yards, a couple of touchdowns.
He also threw a pick. I'm gonna tell you a
stat right now. You don't want to know, Like the
most overrated stat in the NFL is past completion percentage. Uh,
(01:12:17):
I'm gonna give you a sample. Mason Rudolph right now
is completing eighty five percent of his passes in this
game seventeen and twenty. Here's the problem. He's only averaging
six yards of completion. It's almost like a handoff. I
mean when we talk about guys throwing the ball and
everyone says, you know, I look back in the day
and Johnny and Ius he was like fifty percent for
his career. He wasn't They threw the ball down the field,
(01:12:40):
none of this dump off stuff. I mean when when
I again, that is that one stat, guys like seventy percent,
well you should be seventy percent. When the only averaging
six yards of completion, Well, it's like a glorified handle.
I disagree with you to this extent. Defenses are are
very talented. It is difficult to complete passes this league,
(01:13:00):
so you want a proficient passer. Now, don't get me wrong,
I'm with you. There is some hit like all statistics.
Oh well, he passed for you know I'm saying here,
Mason Rudolph. You're like, hey, he's completing eight of his
passes on the day, on the day, Like I mean,
I don't Again, stats are all misleading, contest. Context is
(01:13:23):
always lost when you talk about just a full stat
as opposed to breaking down each throw. We're actually turning
on the film and watching these games. Is Mason Rudolph,
even if he finishes this season as an eight completion
ray passer, a better quarterback Ben Ben Roethlisberger. No, No,
he's not. Um it takes time to get to the level.
(01:13:46):
Uh in an offense as complex as the Steelers like
to run to be the better QB in the room.
Uh So, I think everybody's sort of hoping that Big
Ben is gonna be back from this elbow next season.
Staying sm stat it's the halftime of the ten ten
Chiefs Vikings game. Kirk Cousins just nine of twenty one.
That's not good for only a hundred yards passing one touchdown.
(01:14:09):
Note picks Matt More fourteen of nineteen twenty seven yards
and a touchdown. More impressive there, Dalvin Cook, I believe
has forty one yards rushing says thirty. I'm gonna argue
something with you right there, So you go nine for
twenty one. Well, if those nine for twenty one went
for three touchdowns and no picks, you'd be seeing a
different tune. Again, context the reason why that's not good
(01:14:29):
is it's nine for twenty one and it's only for
a hundred yards and one touchdown in a tight game
right now with the Chiefs. That's the reason why it's bad. Contextually,
I would say Cousins actually has played about as good
a game as you could asked him to for a
half against the defense that is absolutely roaring right now,
and after obviously taking three shots at the end zone
(01:14:52):
there at the end of the half. Excuse the statistics
because all he was doing there with time left on
the clock was starting it out of the back of
the end zone if no pass route was open, which
there weren't for three consecutive plays. All Right, We're gonna
continue update two and all these games as we head
into the second half of the morning Games also talk
about maybe a new phase for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
(01:15:16):
Bruce Arians had hoped to breathe life into Jamis Winston.
It hasn't worked. Much More of that coming up as
we continue, Fox Sports Radio, Red Zone Radio coming up next.
Darnold's rolling to his left. They flits up and he
just flips him up into there. That picked off by Miami.
(01:15:37):
That's unbelievable. How about defensive five sixty w q A
M Dolphins Radio network. I don't know if he was
seeing ghosts there, but Donald did throw an interception. So
we go into the half right now, and the Dolphins
are leading the Jets twenty one to twelve. So the
(01:16:00):
Jets did get the Heck happened here? This doesn't make
any sense? What are you looking at right now? Well,
I'm looking at the score here, and apparently, according to
what I'm looking at, they got a five point field goal.
Well that is doesn't seem possible. Exactly what happened? If
you remember? Am I missing something there? Do I have
(01:16:23):
the score right? It says twenty one to twelve and
they got a five point field goal? No? You see that? Oh? No,
there was a safety I'm sorry the plate, all right,
So they didn't add the safety points there, all right.
So Dolphins leading at a half time, looking for their
first victory of the season. By the way, great news,
(01:16:44):
a quick and easy way for you to save money
switched the guy can only take fifteen minutes to see
if you can save more on car insurance. Go to
guygo dot com and see how much you could save.
So the Chiefs fumbled the opening kickoff of the second half,
giving the Vikings some good position. However, the Chiefs defense
(01:17:04):
is stiffening up. Right now, the Vikings are facing a
third down situation. Uh. So a couple of minutes into
the second half again, this game tied to ten. The
Vikings had chances before they have settled for a game
tying field goal. Uh. They have struggled. Tell you what,
the Chiefs defense, especially their past defense, has been very
(01:17:26):
effective in this game. Uh and Kirk Cousins been low.
So we got a third and four right now, they're
at the Chiefs sixteen yard line and there's a time
out by the Chiefs. We got a touchdown. Steelers to
vance McDonald. Okay, so it's Rudolph to vance McDonald for
a score. And the Steelers right now, they're rolling a
(01:17:46):
little bit here. Of course, the Indianapolis Colts have Jacoby
Bursett on the sideline with an ankle and Brian Hoyer
in the game backup quarterback. But in Pittsburgh now leading
twenty to sixteen, are the yours. The Bears situation goes
from bad to worse. The Bears have just been awful today.
I mean, there's no other way to describe it. Trailing
(01:18:08):
this game against the Eagles twelve nothing at the half,
and now they just got called for a personal foul
on a out of bounds play on zach Ertz. Right
here we go. It's third and four right now for
the Vikings going against the Chiefs. They are at the
sixteen yard line of the Chiefs, and it seems to
(01:18:29):
be confusion all over the place. All right, the ball
snap in touchdown? Wow, somebody blew coverage. Well, there's no
questioning that. So Abdullah catches a ball standing all by
himself in the flat near side and then rushes it
for what twenty five yards for a score unabated actually
six he could have been. He goes out and picked
(01:18:53):
him up. Nobody's home. Oh my goodness, well know I
got a touchdown Eagles Jordan Howard. Oh, so the Eagles
adding to their lead right now, tell you the penalty.
I'll tell you exactly what happened. So the Chiefs ran
that was cover one. Uh, they ran some sort of
five man blitz there, and nobody peeled with the back.
(01:19:14):
Somebody has to peel with the bat. And there's a
miss extra point right there. Co quit was on the whole.
Billy misses the extra point. So it'll be ten sixteen,
Minnesota leading in their head. Yes, uh, sixteen to ten
the Vikings leading there. Uh so finally we've gotten that
was that three miss extra points? Today we just add
(01:19:35):
to our totals. By the way, So what I mean
by peel with the back, because I realized that may
not necessarily be common vernacular, is this okay? So what
you're seeing against the Vikings offense, the Chiefs are blitzing
a lot. They're trying to keep the backs out of
the pass routes because you can get really hurt by
underneath routes. So how do you keep them out or
(01:19:57):
keep them out of the pass routes? You keep them
in on protection by blitzing an extra rusher. Well on
this one, the Vikings gambled. They said, well, screw it,
We're gonna send them anyways. And so that's how you
get a wide open Abdullah sitting out there in the
flat because somebody did not peel off of their rush
and go with him and man coverage to the sideline.
That's an easy score for sixteen yards for the Vikings. Alright,
(01:20:19):
So Buffalo up seventeen six over Washington, Carolinas, seventeen sip
over Tennessee, Minnesota now leading the chief sixteen to ten. Halftime.
We mentioned Miami leading, Uh, the Jets one twelve. The
Eagles are now up nineteen nothing in Pittsburgh, leading at home.
This is a big game for the Steelers, trying to
(01:20:40):
you know, stay alive as far as a playoff chase.
Leading the Colts by a score of twenty to sixteen.
On the other side, we got four games coming up.
They're gonna be kicking off after these games. So normally
we've had two or three. This time we have four.
We're gonna get into some of those games coming up.
But uh, right now, I would say the worst performance
of the day is safe for the Bears, no question.
(01:21:01):
Right now. Just updates you. They have two first downs.
You could potentially say that it's the Dolphins for leading
as much as they are against the Jets. If they're
trying to tank, they're doing it the wrong way. The
Bears have two first downs and nine total yards. That's
as bad as he gets. The Fox Sports the Red
Zone radio continues, Harbin and arm Burger, keep it right
here for all your NFL news cousins. Back to pass
(01:21:24):
fires right caught up Dula Town five Touchdowdula runs the
Vikings to the lead sixteen ten and for a mere Abdula.
That's his first touchdown since December thirty one, when he
was with the Lions against the Packers. Kay Fam Minneapolis
(01:21:46):
and the Vikings radio network. That touched down Abdullah followed
by a miss extra point given the Vikings a sixteen
to ten leader. Once again, we're coming to live from
the guy. Go Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen minutes could
save you fifteen percent on a more on your curR
insurance Physic dot Com for a free right court. Did
I hear right? With the Bears ring the bells, Chicago's
(01:22:09):
on the board for the first time in the second
half with six twenty nine left in this third quarter,
the Chicago Bears have rushed for a score on a
David Montgomery one yard run. How about this a seven
play seventy five yard drive. Now this is this was
the Bears start this year in this game against Eagles.
(01:22:31):
Three plays one yard, three pays negative two yards, three
plays negative six yards, three plays negative two yards, three
plays negative eleven yards. So their first five drives or
not just one and ounce or three and ounce. The
first drive got one yard, the second drive negative to
(01:22:54):
the third drive negative six, the fourth drive negative to
the fifth was negative a eleven. But their last two
five place thirty four yards point but now seven place
seventy five yards and a touchdown. So finally it looks
like can you imagine having four consecutive three and ounce
with negative yards. People are going to think this is
(01:23:17):
insane to hear me say this right now, but the
Bears are very much so in this game. So when
you when you have that many negative plays and penalties,
I mean, they had close to ten in the first half,
you should be way out of the ball game. But
the Eagles only put nineteen points on the board. The
Bear strike first in the second half So all of
a sudden, that leads cut to twelve. I mean, if
(01:23:39):
the Bears stopped the Philadelphia Eagles on this next possession
and score next, I mean, this is anybody's football game,
all right. Speaking of anybody's game, Derrick Henry has scored
a touchdown to put the Titans on the board. In fact,
let's hear that under center Tannehill gives it to Henry
in right guard, Henry to the five, Henry to the
ends un touch that Titans Tennessee with answer w g
(01:24:06):
f X one A four point five Titans Radio Networks.
So now the Panthers lead, which was seventeen that they
in half, is seventeen to seven. So all of a sudden,
we're looking around the scoreboard right now, and we've got
games all across the board right now, anybody's games. So
the Bears finally get on the board, the Titans finally
get on the board. Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs trailing
(01:24:28):
in this game to the Vikings by a score of
sixteen to ten, and the Vikings have the ball once again,
and once again they are in Chiefs territory. So this
was a Chiefs team to look good in the first half,
but they fumbled the opening kickoff of the second half.
Vikings got a touchdown to Abdulah and now they're in
Chief's territory again. Okay, well it's fourth and nine, so
(01:24:51):
the Vikings will punt here. Great defense by Ward covering
the tight end on this plain. No, it was Digs.
It was Diggs. So that was just straight up man
coverage on a crossing route and weren't able to knock
it away for the Chiefs. So it's putting time. Cold
quick will come on the field for the Vikings. You know,
it's interesting about this game as the Chiefs will have
(01:25:11):
possession assuming um, there's going to be no fake Steve
Hartman on the fourth and nine play. Uh is the
fact that the Chiefs are winless at home. Something about
wins and home games in the a f C West.
It's an odd stat to hand out right now, but
the Raiders actually are leading in that division as far
as home winds. Got one of you, which for the
(01:25:35):
Raiders and we'll see them later. Was was on the
road in London during this this uh, this this forty
nine day trip away from the Colosseum. They're finally back home. Uh.
This weekend, crazy schedule. I mean, did you see how
many miles they logged the Raiders over twenty tho miles
And now they're gonna have three straight home games. We
(01:25:56):
talked to Chris Spielman, is gonna have worked that game
for Fox a little bit early year, And yeah, I
mean this is a golden opportunity for the Raiders to
legitimize their season. When you think about these three home
games that the Raiders have coming up, I mean they've
got win all bowl games. Well, they got the lines first,
which I think among these games, and I mentioned this
to you we do the show in San Diego on Friday,
(01:26:18):
on Extra thirteen. Down in San Diego, I said to
the Raiders, could all of a sudden become real contenders
in this division? Because if you get past the lines
with a victory at home, then they had a short
week home game against the Chargers on Thursday, and then
they get ten days to prepare for the Windlass Bengal
and so sorry, gives you an absolute opportunity to right
the ship. What do we got really quickly? A safety
(01:26:40):
for the Colts, so they bring it within two now
with the Steelers. That's the second safety that we've had
today eighteen right now, Pittsburgh leading the Colts. Uh in
that game right there, Well, we could see another one
of those Vikings defense, or I should say the punter
just pinned the Chiefs deep in their own territory. And
(01:27:01):
it isn't Patrick Mahomes there under center. It's gonna be
Matt Moore with only a half yard to operate when
that game returns to action. All right, Let's let's play
along here with the Raiders. Let's give you ba best
case scenario. Let's say they beat the Lions today, beat
the Chargers, beat the Bengals, they get to six and four.
Here's what they got after that at the Jets. You know,
it's a cross country trip with the Jets aren't very good.
(01:27:23):
Then they have to play the Chiefs on the road,
but they get the Titans at home, Jaguars at home.
Then they finished the year at the Chargers, which is
gonna be like a Raider home game, will be all
Raider fans out there, and then at the Broncos, who
by that time will be battling for you know, very
high draft. I mean, it's very doable for the Raiders.
Right there, there's there's ten there's a ten win season
(01:27:45):
there if they take care of the games that they
should win. And this is exactly what I was talking
about on Friday. I I see the Raiders. They're built right.
I think they're playing good defense. I think they survived
the most difficult part of their season with three wins
out of the seven games that they've played to date. Uh,
look at the Raiders. They should not be taken lightly,
(01:28:08):
especially with the running game as as prominent as they've
had out of Josh Jacobs, their first rounder. And then
also the fact that Derek Carr, when he's protected well
for and this offensive line has been doing a nice job,
can elevate himself to an elite level at times. We've
got the Panthers down near the goal line and a score.
Christian McCaffrey on the is so lead plunge, he goes
(01:28:29):
backside and breaks the plane. So they're now leading twenty
three seven over the Tennessee Titans in Carolina. Big bounce
back game after getting absolutely routed last week in San Francisco.
Christian McCaffrey just continues to pile up the numbers more
than eight yards right. He has twenty carries for eight
yards rushing in this game. One touchdown, two receptions tan yards,
(01:28:52):
and a second touchdown. By the way the charges. A
couple of years ago, we got a big breakaway run
for Kansas City. Wow, that's going to the house. Nobody
is catching him. That's Williams on huge touchdown run. Excuse me,
second play on this coming off the goal line series
for the Chiefs after getting pinned deep by the the Vikings. Yeah,
(01:29:16):
Damian Williams. They're a huge touchdown run. Just went right
up the gut against the Vikings and that will tie
the game. Uh, Chiefs can take the league. There's gonna
be officially a nine yard rush. I think that was
second Say okay, so is second and four from their
nine yard line. Then you don't get a lot of
(01:29:38):
ninety yard runs in this league. That that is. Can
you look, Zimmer is absolutely losing his mind. How do
we just give up a ninety one yard town run?
My head gets spun over as you know, Wow, that
extra point was almost blocked. My head gets spun over
to the screen. When you start shouting we gotta breakaway
rushier here, I'll tell you how it happens and we'll
(01:29:59):
see if it's true. So when you commit too many
men to the line of scrimmage, all of a sudden,
it's one man to beat behind all of them. I mean,
this is just a straight hand up off the middle
and there's a gaping hole on the right side of
the offensive line. One move and there's nobody there. Gone wow.
So that straight up the gut, I mean, from your
(01:30:20):
own nine yard to a touchdown. One man to beat
for But for different reasons than I had thought. What
did anybody touch him on this play? Nobody touched him.
He got no touch he had. Harrison Smith is the
responsible part on the play. He was supposed to be
the run fit on the back side and make that tackle.
(01:30:41):
But what you're seeing out of uh the NFL offense
is is very similar to college football right now. Everybody's
running out of the spread offense, and I do mean running.
So that was actually a sub run. They just ran
a very simple inside zone play. It cut all the
way back behind the backside tight end and when this
safety needs to make the tackle, he needs to make
(01:31:02):
this tackle otherwise there's nobody home. And that's exactly what
you saw there alright, six minutes plus to go on
the third quarters. So the Chiefs take the seventeen sixteen league.
We had a lot more coming up here on the
Fox Sports Red Zone Radio, but first let's head to
the Vegas Strip. Eight sports fanss is insider John Anthony
coming to you from the Las Vegas Strip. My message
(01:31:23):
phonus red Hot against spread called the number now one
eight hundred two one six sixty six fifteen. That's one
eight hundred two one six sixty six fifteen. My information
is in today. I'm releasing three plays Detroit Oakland, Tampa
Bay in Seattle and the late game New England at Baltimore.
That's three games. That's three locks three and over the
(01:31:44):
season three hundred two on six sixty six fifteen. That's
one hundred two on six sixty six fifteen. That's three games,
three locks, three and over the season three hundred two
and six sixty six fifteen. That's one eight hundred two
six sixties six fifteen. Now let's take a quick look
at the matchup. Detroit heads west to Oakland. Oakland is
(01:32:06):
finally home after a four game road trip and a
trip to London. They're coming off tough loss at Houston.
Detroit needs this win to keep any wild card hopes alive.
My information is confirmed. I love this matchup and I
have the winner. Tampa Bay is in Seattle. After starting
the season two and two. Tampa Bay comes in on
a three game losing streak. Seattle looks like they can
(01:32:28):
make a deeper run of the playoffs. The total is
a play on this one. I love it. Twins easy
and finally, the late game, the last game of the day,
New England at Baltimore. What a way to end the day.
Division leaders face off in prime time. Ken New England's
defense contain Lamar Jackson is Baltimore threat to New England's reign.
The number on this one is tricky, but my information
(01:32:49):
is confirmed. The game is huge for me. My top
move the biggest player of the day. It's a lot
Erry have a three uth plays on the message phone.
I'm red hot against the spread called need hundred two
on six sixty six fifteen. That's one eight hundred two
one six sixty six fifteen. That's three games, that's three
lacks three and over the season three two one six
(01:33:12):
sixty six fifteen. That's one eight hundred two on six
sixty six fifteen. The NFL is flying by like in
X running and go round and when the action goes
down on the field, hand off. It's the dumbest question
you could ask. We've got it all cover. This is
(01:33:36):
Fox Sports Radio, and off cuts it back right across
the fifteen thirty. David Williams at the forty. He's in midfield.
It's a race. He's at the thirty twenty. It's a
race he will win. In eighty five yard touchdown run
against this vaulted Viking rush defense. Damian where hims all
(01:34:00):
the way home touchdown Kansas City apparently lost sight of
where he started. Actually was a ninety one yard touchdown run.
Chiefs Radio Network right there. So with that, the Chiefs
taking a seventeen sixteen lead over the Vikings, and again
that miss extra point could come back to Hunt Minnesota.
Minnesota than three and out on their next series. And
(01:34:24):
now the Chiefs Matt Moore clabber but apparently complete the
past huge ball down the field. Yeah, and he was
hit by two Vikings on the play, complete to Tyreek
Hill on the sideline, and he got it all the
way down to the twenty five yard line. They went
the wrong direction on that play. Try to just get
a quick bubble screen going uh, and a tackle in
(01:34:45):
the backfield Damien Williams goes down. Uh, so that'll be
a three yard loss. But again, Matt Moore has got
these Chiefs within the scoring range inside the thirty yard
line of the Vikings. Yeah. Minute ago in the third
core clock is running their Chiefs leading the Viking seventeen sixteen. Meanwhile,
the Jets are trying to come back in their game
(01:35:05):
against the Dolphins. This was twenty one to seven, now
it's fifteen. Uh, Dolphins leading the Jets. Of course, apparently
upstairs the management of the Dolphins reminding them they need
to lose these games. They're trying to get the number
one pick in the draft. Yesterday, talking to t J.
Houshman Zada, who has been uh I witnessed to a
(01:35:27):
couple of l s U games recently, I asked him
about Joe Burrow. Uh, you know, justin Herbert by the way,
who everyone touted as a person possible one first round
pick a year ago, decided to stay at Oregon. They won't.
They've lost one game. He's put up huge numbers for Oregon.
Uh this year. Remember this is a six six, two
thirty seven pound quarterback that I guarantee when he shows
(01:35:49):
up at the combine, people are like, WHOA forgot about you? Man?
I mean, look at this guy. So it's interesting. When
we talked about Tonka Bylo, I talked about Burrow, talk
about Herbert not so much. Alan Hurts. He's almost in
that Lamar Jackson category. Are you're really not sure how
his game will translate to the next level. We'll see
how he's evaluated eventually, but to see if you, let's
(01:36:11):
say you're the dolls, very careful. All four of these
guys are first rounders because I've seen Valan Hurts projections
right now, they have them as a fourth round pick.
All four of these guys are first rounders, and I'll
tell you why, because Jalen Hurts fits this new NFL
where you can have a mobile quarterback who can complete
enough down field to keep defenses honest. Think Lamar Jackson,
(01:36:34):
think Gardner Minshew as a rookie this season, filling him
for Nick Foles. I mean there's enough there, and there's
enough offensive coordinators and enough creativity at offensive coordinator to
make way for more of these quarterbacks to get their
jump start in the league. And I think there will
be a team that takes the bait right burrow tagavloa.
They look like NFL pocket pastures right now. And like
(01:36:55):
you mentioned, Herbert, there are enough quarterback needy teams to
go around. Right. Chief's get a field goal, so they
extend their lead to twenty to sixteen over the Vikings.
But getting back to Miami, and by the way, Miami
knocking on the door right now again. Lead as Ryan
Fitzpatrick apparently is saying, we don't need a number one
(01:37:16):
overall pick I'm the quarterback, I'm in charge. They called
a time out on a third and goal play right
there there about the five yard line, so the Colts
jumped on a forced fumble. You have Samuel's filling in
for Connor, James Conner out with that shoulder injury from
last week. Uh, and you had a safety absolutely wallops
(01:37:37):
Samuel so willby Colts ball. And this is a tight game, Steve.
You got Dealers got a field lead. Yeah, Steelers got
a field goal to extend the lead to twenty three
to eighteen. But like as you said, uh, your guy
Brian Hoyer will take over first and tim for the
Colts after the fumble at the Steelers thirty yard line. Yeah,
and so what you have as as the Colts march
(01:38:01):
past the thirty yard line, it will be about a
one yard game on a MAC carry is a strong
offensive line. You have a competent quarterback in Jacoby Brissette,
but since he's been injured this game with an ankle,
it's Brian Horror taking over. A lot of people will say, well,
who's Brian Hoyer. Well, he's a really competent NFL quarterback too.
He's about eleven or twelve year pro U. He came
(01:38:23):
to this Frank Reich system and it's one that he
caught on too quick. Trust me, because I've been in
contact with him, and he says he's got it all down.
MAC rumbles across the twenty yard line, so be uh,
Colts ball right at the twenty going in against this
Pittsburgh team. They only trail by five against all Right,
another game we haven't talked a lot about Buffalo still
leading the Redskins seventeen and nine eight minutes ago in
(01:38:44):
the game. They're a couple of stories here. Dwayne Haskins
making his starting debut for the Redskins, But how about
Adrian Peterson seventeen carries for a hundred and ten yards?
Can can I can? I just read you a couple
of things that I know you as a stack compiler
us and an appreciator of all things record books will love. Okay,
(01:39:05):
So the starting tailbacks in this Bill's Redskins game are
Frank Core for the Bills and it's Adrian Peterson for
the Washington Redskins, two backs with over thirteen thousand, five
hundred yards in their career. At fifteen thousand, one hundred
seventy yards, Gore is ninety nine rushing yards away from
passing Barry Sanders third on the list of career rushing yards.
(01:39:27):
Adrian Peterson moved into sixth place with thirteen thousand, seven
hundred one rushing yards and that was best in La
Dainian Tomlinson and Jerome Bettis last week. Uh. These are
two running backs who I don't even they It defies
reality that they're still on the field as productive as
they are, but very different careers. I mean, Adrian Peterson
(01:39:49):
is in the conversation of the greatest running backs in
the history of the NFL, no question about that. All Pro,
many times League MVP, and everything else. Gore has been
a compiler. I mean the fact that he has played
so long in the NFL and piled up these numbers
and he's never been an All Pro or anything like that.
Almost call him the Harold Baines of the NFL's a compiler.
(01:40:10):
But I agree with you any any time you have
a running back play this long. You know, as you
know Marcus Sounds a dear friend of mine for many years,
and he played sixteen years as a running back in
the NFL, and and by the way around every even
played the game. Logic doesn't allow me to believe that's
even possible sixteen years as a running back in the NFL. Steve,
(01:40:30):
you know this as well as I do. I mean
I I watched games from the sideline after my playing career,
and I was dumbfounded by how my body held up
just for one week, let alone a six year career.
You've watched many games from that vantage point. The violence
of this football game makes me believe fullheartedly that Frank
core will be in the Hall of Fame just from
(01:40:51):
a standpoint of durability and time tested production over the
course of now nearing two decades about this. This is
his two hundred and eighteen game in the NFL as
a running back. What I mean, yeah, we gotta we
(01:41:12):
gotta touchdown for the Bears. Tariko, And what is happening?
You said the Bears were right back in this game,
and suddenly they are three or excuse me, six points
the only trail Philadelphia right now? Any of the extra
point well, and also it's pending whether or not Treco
and broke the plane they're looking at. He was falling
backwards in the end zone. His butt hit the one
yard line. They'll judge and a judicate where he was spot.
(01:41:37):
We got the Colts with a fourth and two right now,
trailing by five. Brian Horyer throws touchdown end zone and
the Colts have re taken the lead in Pittsburgh. Brian
Hoyer's third touchdown pass in for the injured Jacoby Brissette
right there. So how about that, your guy, Brian Hoyer.
And if I'm seeing this correctly, the Chicago Bears, the
(01:42:00):
points for now have been taken off the ball or
off the board, So it's seven nineteen. I think this
is going to be Bears ball at the one yard
line going in. I don't think they're gonna credit tarikohen
with with the score there. All right, the Vikings trying
to comebacks now trailing twenty to sixteen against the Chiefs. Uh.
(01:42:20):
And we got a big pass play there, Kirk Cousins
two digs uh as they moved north towards midfield. Alright,
so how about Brian Hoyer today coming in for Brissett.
Uh And now the Colts have that lead. Uh in
that game, first down four the Vikings. Now they're at
their own forty yard line. We're in the fourth quarter
(01:42:40):
in this game, and it's the Chiefs leading by a
score of twenty to a six team. All right, we
just got a million by the way, Colts touchdown was
Chester Rogers, wide receiver for the Colts. Everybody has them
on their fight. The Colts are going for a two
point conversion. I have a one point lead at three.
Did they just call a time out on two point conversion? Yeah? Yeah,
(01:43:02):
did you just do that? Yeah? That's not great? So
either a because again, you know you have your backup
in here here. There was discomfort with the call or
be Frank Reich or you know, the offensive coordinator called
in a play that was supposed to go against his
specific defense and whatever. Whatever, Pittsburgh put out there they
(01:43:23):
weren't expecting. All right, we're in the guy, go Fox
Sports Radio Studios. Let's find out what's trending right now
on a very busy Sunday. David Gascon he's on top
of everything, on top of it all. We got a
little breaking news in college football. What Florida State needs
a new head coach. They just fired Willie Tagger. They
lose at home to Miami. That was the final strong man.
(01:43:44):
He is out on the move. You had again Florida
State with the new head coach. You guys are mentioned
the Colts game going on right now with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
They got the touchdown but not the two point in conversions.
They lead, but just by one. Its outball games now
midway through the fourth quarter. Me Wal Dolphins have extend
their advantage over the Jets at twenty four to fifteen
(01:44:05):
as a minute to play in the third quarter. In
that affair, Bears right now and trying to get this
thing close at the one yard line of Philadelphia. They're
down by twelve, nineteen to seven. KANSASYA with the lead
right now over the Minnesota Vikings twenty to six. Panthers
are all over the Titans right now on this one.
Talent fakes to McCaffrey. Try us to McCaffrey right cloud,
he will walk in touchdown Carolina. So we're talking about
(01:44:29):
great bow likes to gamble with the Titans by the
river boat. Ron's but doing it a long time. And
that was a thick gabble. And fourth the two that converted.
As soon as I said that, Ryan Tannehill have found
Derrick Henry in a on a screen pass and they
just scored thirteen. Titans. Get on the scoreboard right now,
plenty of time to go in the fourth quarter. It
just started from Carolina. And the Buffalo Bills right now
(01:44:50):
have an advantage over the Washington Redskins seventeen to nine.
Bills have the football first down and ten at Redskins
fourteen yard line. Guys, back to you, all right, David,
thank you, We're many life. And the guy go Fox
Sports Radio Studios uses to say fifteen cent a mare
in car insurance, get go, go to get dot comer
call seven otto. The only hard part figuring out which
way is easier. The Bears get in on that touchdown,
(01:45:14):
all right, No, no, no, it's a follow up. Play
from David Montgomery. Do I have this correct? Did they
have correct? Yeah? They had to run another play from
the one yard line. Well, that's that David Montgomery's second
one yard run on the day for a touchdown. Let's
see how it happens to type formations single back in
Montgomery right up the middle, and he did it with
some eagles that he had to drag across the goal
(01:45:36):
line with him. Hold on. The Vikings just had a
little screen pass the Dalvin Cook, big play for them.
They now have a first and goal inside the ten
yard line. So the Chiefs leading this game twenties six
team perfectly executed a little pasta Cook and so you
had two linemen out in front of Cook and you
have this chief wide open. New Cousins throws to the
(01:45:58):
end zone. Out of the end zone. Yeah, yeaheah that
he was trying to get rid of the ball. It
was just a free play the Chiefs. Why don't you
run the ball? I don't know, honestly, he had nothing
but green grass in front of him. Um okay. So yeah,
what we're looking at with this Chief's game right now,
with the Vikings threatening in the red zone again, is
they've gotten tough in this area of the football field,
(01:46:19):
because you'll remember they held them three points in the
first half. Look at you as you salivate over that
screenplay with the big guys out in front, man that
there were occasionally second and goal for the Vikings at
the sixth yard line. Right now, they give it to
Dalvin Cook. He goes around the corner and goes into
about the three yard line, so it will be third
(01:46:41):
and goal for the Vikings at the three yard line again.
Down four to the Chiefs. We got eleven and a
half minutes to go in that game, and you're burying
the lead again because the offensive woman did a phenomenal
job on the sweet play there. If you watch, Steve watched,
you got your your left tackle pulling out in front.
It's like j Kramerston back in the day Packer power sweep.
(01:47:04):
Everybody will remember Fuzzy Thurston him up on Fantasy, all right,
and Cousins look in the end zone. It is a
touchdown Vikings. That's Rudolph on the score. Hey, so this
is where it kind of the picture gets tilted. So
Kirk Cousins just throw an absolute bullet between two Chief's
(01:47:28):
defenders who had a better beat on this ball. But
he has a I mean, look, he's got a cannon.
He's able to fit these tight window throws. We see
this all the time, his third touchdown pass of the game.
The problem is when then he plays on Monday or
Thursday night, or or he gets to the postseason. Why
(01:47:48):
is it a different Kirk Cousins. I don't understand it.
I really don't. Well. I said before when I made
my infamous pick of him as the league's m v P,
I just said, look, the one that we know about Cousins.
He can throw the football, and he has moments, but
he's had empty numbers and ows his numbers look good
with the Redskins last year the Vikings, that hasn't translated
into victories. And I I compared him to Matt Ryan
(01:48:10):
a couple of years ago, where Matt Ryan just suddenly
had that dream year where everything went his way all
until their collapse in the Super Bowl. He was the
league m v P and everything else. If you look
at Matt Ryan's career in Atlanta, all his seasons are
about the same except that one year it's spiked like
he had like, you know, a hundred, ten hundred twelve
whatever passer rating. Kyle Shanna was his coordinator there in
(01:48:32):
Atlanta for that year. So so the Vikings get the
extra point twenty now Minnesota leading Kansas City eleven minutes
to go in the game there and touchdown Buffalo Bills
Devin Singletary on the run. All right, So that one
pretty much puts that game away two and a half
minutes to go, Buffalo leading twenty three to nine. Meanwhile,
the Indianapolis Colts after that time out did not get
(01:48:53):
the two point conversion. That was a waste. Uh sow
three Colts leading Pittsburgh, and now Pittsburgh is the beneficiary
of a past interference call inside the ten yard line
of the Colts. So the Steelers have bounced right back
on right down the field past interference on the Colts,
(01:49:13):
and that will give Pittsburgh the ball at the seven
yard line of the Colts. We got seven a half
minutes to go, Steelers trailing this game twenty four toe. Yeah,
So this is uh, obviously another one of those abridge
spread formations from Mason Rudolph. And a flag is thrown
prior to the play. I'm curious if no, it's a
(01:49:36):
challenge Okay, So I think we're gonna see a past
interference challenge that tossed in from Frank Reich from the
Colts sideline. Uh, and that was right before the play.
So Indianapolis wants, uh, the officiating crew to take a
closer look here. And I mean, turn on any game,
turn on any of these challenges, on on these p
(01:49:58):
I calls. It oftentimes doesn't go the way you think
it's gonna go. It doesn't go the right way. This
has been a mess since the start of the season.
All right, another game suddenly we're watching is this Eagles
Bears game. This one was all Eagles in the first half,
twelve nothing. The Bears had two first downs, about ten
total yards. But the Bears offense has come alive in
(01:50:18):
the second half. It is nineteen fourteen, Eagles leading the Bears,
and the Eagles are looking at a third and eleven
right now at their own twenty five yard line. Suddenly,
this Bears defense is really fired up. So if they
can turn the ball over here, they actually put the
ball back in the hands of the Bears. Wentz gets
hit almost intercepted by the Bears, So the Bears are
(01:50:41):
gonna get the ball back down by five. What a
turnaround for the Bears in this game. I mean they
look dead at halftime, and now all of a sudden
they have a chance with the ball to get back
to lead. Speaking of which, a team that looked pretty
much dead in the water, now into the fourth quarter
with only about eleven minutes left on the clock, Knessee
Titans trailing by ten in Carolina to score. Team Kyle
(01:51:05):
Allen has gotten them back near the thirty yard line
at about the Carolina thirty two and he takes the
ball in shotgun and delivers an absolutely beautiful throw that'll
be good for a first down. Uh So, all of
a sudden, well actually was their own. It was their own,
uh thirty yard line there. So all of a sudden,
(01:51:25):
they've got a chance. They've got a chance in this game.
All right. The Vikings have just kicked off to the Chiefs,
So the Chiefs are gonna take over. Uh inside eleven
minutes to go, Trailing the Vikings now twenty. Remember the
Chiefs are trying to avoid their fourth home loss of
the season. Patrick Mahomes, inactive for this game, did not play,
(01:51:46):
so Matt Moore's played. Okay, it's that's not been Matt
Moore's fault. A couple of big plays on either side
really been the difference. But Kirk Cousins, after a slow
start three touchdown passes in this game, Chief's taken over
at their own twenty five years. That's a guy hard
on himself. Oh boy, we have a touchdown for Carolina
and that is going to do it. Yeah, So Kyle Allen,
(01:52:06):
I don't know, we didn't get to see the beginning
of this place, but somehow he got the ball back
into Christian McCaffrey's hands, and that'll be the nail in
the coffin. He just threw a ball. It's actually a
fifty eight yard touchdown run. But Mr Fantasy Football himself,
Christian McCaffrey right up the gut off to the and
(01:52:29):
he looks up. He watches himself maybe a little early there,
you're seeing if he was gonna get caught. So this
was just a power play. You had the left guard
pulling leading the play, he had a fullback inserting lee
blocking as well, and legitimately nobody touched him until the
five yard line. He dragged the defender into He wants
some numbers, Christian McCaffrey by the way, head ahead against
(01:52:49):
the guy that edged him out for the Heisman Trophy,
Derrick Henry. I voted for McCaffrey that year. Uh. Carries
a hundred forty six yards two touchdowns. He has three
receptions twenty yards and a third touchdown. McCaffrey continue to
dominate decent third team for sixty three in a touchdown
not terrible. He also has a receiving touchdown. So Henry's
(01:53:12):
got two touchdowns, but he ain't McCaffrey. Yeah, which twenty
two do you want on your roster? I'm taking Christian McCaffrey,
by the way. Our own Mike Harmon before the season
began telling everybody out there, if you have the number
one pick in your fantasy football league, take Christian McCaffrey.
I did. I listened to take Christian McCaffrey. Uh, and uh,
(01:53:36):
he has just had a monster year. So the Panthers
leading that game? Uh, did we get the extra point?
Good on that one. I always have tons. You never can,
I mean legitimately, you can't say. Boy, I'll tell you what.
I'm gonna break off my own line of thinking here.
Third and one, Chiefs. Chiefs just got a very very
nice first down to toss out to Williams on the edge,
(01:53:57):
but uh yeah, there's a flag down on the plate
when it when it's wide like that, it's a holding call.
It will be going the opposite to right, third and
goal for the Steelers right now, trailing by one, and
it's incomplete. We got six and a half minutes to
go on the game there, So the Colts defense holds
and it looks like the Steelers are gonna come on
(01:54:18):
for a field goal attempt to give themselves the lead
here currently Colts leading the Steelers. I know the story
on that past interview ference challenged by the way by
Frank Reich, and the Colts didn't go their way, but
they held up, and so it's going to be a
kick by Chris Boswell for the Steelers, all right. So
(01:54:39):
if this field goal is good and we'll keep it
right here right now waiting for Boswell's attempt, uh this
to give the Steelers. It's twenty six yard attempt right
down the middle. So the Steelers take a twenty six
to twenty four lead six and a half minutes to
go there. Meanwhile, we got a third and eleven right
now for the Chiefs from their own forty yard line,
(01:55:00):
and there's confusion time out on the field. It looks
like Matt Moore and the Chiefs are taking this one,
all right? Are they taking a time out here? It
looks like it. I don't know why are they doing that.
There are three seconds left on the clock on the
play clock, so that goes to break as they sort
of circle the wags and figure out what they're gonna do.
They're trailing at home, all right. Uh, we were once
(01:55:21):
again here in the guy go Fox Sports Radio Studios.
We're just rolling on to what we look like we're
gonna have some pretty exciting finishes coming up, So keep
it here. It's Fox Sports Red Zone Radio. Steve Harpan,
Rich Armbor. We continue coming up next, double tights both
on the right, shoulder to shoulder McCaffrey right up the
already three May store to the forty to the thirty
(01:55:42):
foot race twenty to the ten yard line. Yes, sir,
he scores a touchdown w BT and the Panthers Radio Network.
Christian McCaffrey does what he does best better than anybody else,
big plays, big yards another touch on his third of
the day, So right there, the Carolina Panthers at sending
their lead to thirty to fourteen. And just to update
(01:56:05):
there on that uh extra point, we were wondering about
the extra point. I don't still see was there an
extra point in that game. I'm trying to figure it
out as well. I'm assuming they missed it, but they yeah,
but they just didn't even say he missed it. They
just they just whatever. Um, Okay, we got a lot
(01:56:25):
of things happening right now. The Vikings defense held on
the Chiefs, but now the Chiefs have done the same
things to the Vikings. So the Vikings are punting to
the Chiefs right now, six forty to go and ticking.
Vikings leading this game twenty three to twenty. Meanwhile, the
Eagles trying to hang on against the Bears. Right now,
(01:56:47):
there is inside six minutes ago. Eagles have dominated this
game early on, but the Bears have come back in
the second half. They have just sacked Carson went So
it's nineteen fourteen Eagles leading the Bears. Plenty of time
third and long for the Eagles right here, this Bears
defense suddenly has completely stopped this Eagle's offense. Great time
(01:57:08):
to dial up a blitz they weren't showing it early
and then you had guys creeping up late, and that's
exactly what happened. Carson Wentz goes down. And so yeah, look,
I the Bears. The Bears are in a situation here
where they absolutely need to win. I mean, they need
to get the pressure off of Matt Naggy, they need
to get the pressure off of Mitchell Trabinsky. And if
(01:57:29):
they can beat the Eagles, all of a sudden staring
down to four and four records a lot better than
a three and five record. All right. Earlier today in
the London game, Texans dominated the Jaguars three two interceptions,
two fumbles for Minshew in this game. And speculation is
after a Jags have a bye week that if Nick
Foles is ready to go, he will reclaim the starting
(01:57:51):
quarterback job. And the Bills defeat of the Redskins twenty
four or nine. Uh, the Bills are six and two
right now, definitely in prime playoff position, and they did
it with their usual unspectacular ways, you know, average offense,
better defense. Dwayne Haskins debut as the Redskins quarterback produced
(01:58:13):
very little in this game. Uh. The good notes for
the Redskins is an Adrian Peterson somehow at a hundred
eight yards rushing in this game. But the Bills moved
to six and to the Redskins are now one in eight.
And we were talking about this during the break. Again,
it's a very small sample size with Haskins who started
one year at the highest state. This was his first
start as a Redskin. But if you're sitting there with
(01:58:34):
a top five pick and you're Daniel and all those
quarterbacks out there, we saw Arizona do it last year.
Josh Rosen two years ago, tenth overall pick, they moved
up to get him. A year later, they have the
first pick in the draft, they take a quarterback and
Rosen's gone. So this is one of those questions the
Redskins are gonna have to answer. Uh. And remember the
year they took r G three second overall, they took
(01:58:56):
Kirk Cousins in the fourth round in the same draft.
So they were looking for answers and as it turned out,
their firsth rounder was better over the course of a
career so far than their first rounder. Look at the Redskins,
we haven't seen enough out of Dwayne Haskins prior to
this game me through for a hundred forty yards and
four interceptions. In this game, he through for a hundred
(01:59:18):
forty four, no touchdowns, no interceptions. Uh, so we have
a very limited sample size. We've seen him in two
relief appearances, we've seen him in one start. He's been underwhelming. Shore.
There's been a lot that's happened this season, So let's
not forget context. What it really comes down to is
do they hire an offensive coordinator or do they have
(01:59:38):
an offensive coordinator who thinks that they can turn this
guy into a franchise quarterback. And if the answer is no,
then they have to go back to the draft. All right,
Chiefs with the ball right now, six thirteen and counting,
trailing twenty against the Vikings. Again, the Chief's trying to
avoid their fourth home loss of the season. They have
a second and five right now. Uh, this has been
(02:00:00):
uh pretty much his Indy kids both ways. The problem
for Matt Moore and he's getting sacked again and there's
a flag lace on that play. They're gonna call a
personal foul on the Vikings. Uh, they could, they could,
they could stand into the ground. They called Griffin for
taking him to the ground. Um, yeah, this this rule,
(02:00:21):
the protection that they're applying for the quarterback has been
frustrating for defensive ends and outside linebackers, pass rushers in general. Actually,
that might end up being a hold. Now that's not
on the left personal foul on him. That might be
a hold on the left tackle. All right, So let's
see the ruling there. And again the Vikings defense trying
to hold up. Vikings have been on a roll looking
(02:00:42):
to go to seven and two if they can win
this game. It is a holding college, he said on
the Chiefs. So that's gonna move them back a little bit. Meanwhile,
the Colts have the ball down twenty six to twenty
four against the Steelers. This is a game that UH
has been very tight back for to twenty to go
right there, uh in the game. And then again the
(02:01:04):
Colts have been able to do this uh with Jacoby
burst out of the game. Brian Hoyer has been very
effective sixteen twenty three, three touchdowns in this game. Hoyer,
and right there he gets hit. That is definitely an
incomplete passed, not a fumble. Well, we have a third
and seven conversion in this Chief's Minnesota game. Matt Moore
(02:01:26):
just found Tyreek Hill on an inbreaking route. Had to
dive forward for it towards the line of scrimmage, but
he was beyond the yard of game. So that'll be
good for Chiefs first down as long as it doesn't
get reviewed. On the close up, it looked like both hands.
All right, we have a big play here, big defense,
a pass interference call against Pittsburgh. Alright, to to go
(02:01:48):
in this game again. The Colts with the ball down
by two uh, and they threw the ball down the
field and they dropped a flag where we watched this
play again and I do not see my goodness more.
Just threw a ball to Tyreek Hill down the near
sideline and it was an absolute bomb. Watch this play.
Shotgun deep deep go route on the Tyreek Hill reception
(02:02:13):
catches all the way down at the Vikings twenty yard line.
I mean, seriously, is there a more talented receiver than
Tyree Hill? Not only is he the fastest receiver obviously
in the entire league, but his ability to make catches
over him. All right, we're in the guy. Go Fox
Sports Radio studios. If you want to find out how
these games are gonna finish, keep it here on Fox
(02:02:35):
Sports Red Zone Radio. All right, we are heading to
some exciting finishes here in the NFL. We're coming alive
from the guy Go Fox Sports Radio Studios. Fifteen mants
could save you fIF more on your car insurance. Visit
guy Go dot com for a free rate quote. So
the Eagles are trying to run it out against the Bears,
leading nineteen four team a minute and counting right now.
(02:02:59):
They're facing a fourth down situation and they don't have
Alshon Jeoffrey on the field. He just left and he
was being reviewed in the medical ten. So one of
their more competent threats on the outside and unavailable as
time is taken down in this game, and they want
to seal this win all right. By the way, believe
(02:03:21):
it or not, the Dolphins have two safeties today. Um,
I get every team has two, So I mean, I
mean you don't. You don't have a lot of teams
that get too safeties. Are talking about they have four
points from their defense on safeties. Yeah. In fact, they
were confused with the scoreboard. Eventually they had it. They
(02:03:41):
had the wrong way. It's twenty six to fifteen right now.
The Dolphins leading the Jets. They had posted his twenty
four to seventeen. I go, No, the two points goes
to the other teams. So there you go fifteen. Uh
with the inside six minutes to go. Okay, how about
this Tannehill trying to make this a little bit of
a game of fourth and three goes to Corey Davis
(02:04:03):
in the Carolina Panthers Times game. Uh, so they march
across midfield. They're not gonna make up a sixteen point
deficit with four and a half minutes to go. Meanwhile,
it is a tie score as Bucker kicked a fifty
four yard field goal for the Chiefs to tie that
game at twenty three. All we're inside two minutes to
(02:04:23):
go and the Vikings are going to have to punt.
So on third down, Uh, Kirk Cousins just rushed for
They just rushed for it. So this was inside rush
by I believe Chris Jones. It was of their defensive
line and they just did a little inside stunt. N
Chris Jones comes free, tackles Kirk Cousins. He has to
(02:04:46):
get rid of the ball. So it's punt in time
for the Vikings. And who's back there on the punt return?
That would be Tyreek Hill, not a guy you want
to kick the ball to cold Quick. Uh kicks the
ball out of bounds, is what he did. But he
picked the ball sideways. I'm that ball is gonna be
way up the field. That's gonna be marked. If I
had to guess somewhere around the thirty five, they're still going.
(02:05:08):
They're still going right there. That was net punting. This
is what happens when you're staring at Tyreek Hill. You
panic and you don't want to kick it to him.
But coal Quick of coal Quit, who has been around
a hundred years, literally kicked that sideways out of bound.
(02:05:29):
So now the Chiefs takeover at the Vikings forty five
yard lines. What do we have your Ryan Adam Vinitary
setting up for a go ahead field goal here alright?
So Vinitary of course missing all these kicks all over
the place, but last week a fifty one yard or
to win the game, minute fourteen to go, the Colts
are trailing. This is going to be forty two yard attempt,
(02:05:50):
I think. And it's right down the middle, in between
the hashes, and the kick is up and the kick
is sideways, absolutely sideways. I mean he pulled that so
hard to the left that was in sane. Was that
his last field goal attempt of his career? I mean
that was sideways that barely got off the ground. What
(02:06:11):
a liability? So he cost you a p a t
earlier in the game, in a in a game right now,
that's two two points away from being a win. And
he kicked us sideways and he kicked I mean this
was Steve that is fifteen twelve, fifteen yards away from
the left up right. So he saved himself last week
when he missed an extra point, but he kicked the
fifty one yard or to win it. Here he misses
(02:06:34):
an extra point and this time he goes sideways. So
here's the excuse if you want to make one for
Adam Minitary. The holder did not spin the laces. The
laces were facing him. All right, we totally missed something here.
Why are the Chiefs back? What happened there? How are
they on a second and twenty four? Do we miss
a big penalty in this game? He must have. He
(02:06:54):
was sacked for a loss of fourteen year. He was
sacked where a fourteen yard loss? Wow, Matt Moore has
got to learn to get honey the yards has he
been sacked for in this game. He either you lost
your mind and you thought you're Patrick Mahomes dropping back
and trying to scramble. Let's see how this unraveled for him. Well,
this is right up the middle. He never had a chance.
(02:07:16):
It was what it was. He was a play action
fake that was going to actually fumbled, but when covered
by the Chiefs, he was tackled and sacked. Fumble. You
have Williams picking up in the backfield. He tried to
make it better and he made it worse, got tackled
for huge loss. All right, So it's inside a minute ago,
fifty nine seconds left it as a second and twenty
(02:07:38):
four for the Chiefs. It is tied twenty three. All
there at their own forty four yard line. So after uh,
the sideway kicked by coal quit Uh, Now they're back
in their own territory. Passes complete at to the thirty
nine yards. Travis Kelsey's one time out left. They cheese
at one time out left, then run they're gonna take it.
(02:08:02):
You know, they're not taking and they're more screaming for
the time out and nobody, Wow, they're huddling up. They're
huddling thirty seven thirty six. The clock is running Travis
Kelsey by the way, on the receiving end of a
good pass there by Matt Moore. So they're gonna they're
gonna run the risk of letting this Gona buck kerk
just kicked a fifty four yard field goal, so maybe
they feel safe. Right now, twenty three seconds the clock
(02:08:24):
is ticking. What happened there? The ball was dropped. I
guess he spiked it. I I I Steve. This is
fathomable time out by the Vikings. No, the Chiefs, the
Vikings Kings. There's twenty seconds ago. What happened? Here's what
makes no sense? Okay, So Andy Reid not only calls
(02:08:47):
the time out, not only doesn't call a time out there,
but when they rushed the line of scrimmage, Matt Moore
calls for a huddle. They waste about ten seconds on
the clock, get to the line of scrimmage, and finally
the Vikings and I think it was actually kind of
smart call of time out to regroup after all of
these twenty seconds just ticked off the clock. The Kansas
(02:09:08):
City Chiefs are falling into the same problems that they
always have ended game in close games. Andy Reid is
a terrible clock manager, all right, So it is third
and four right now. Again they're at the thirty nine
yard line, so this would be a fifty six yard
field goal at tip at this point for Bucker, who's
made all his field goals today, including a fifty four
yard or so. Here we go third and four at
(02:09:29):
the Vikings thirty nine yard line, twenty four seconds to
go in a tie game. Quick pass over the middle
for the first out of Tyreek Hill, and a whole
lot more and a whole lot more for Tyreek Hill.
Clock is running. They have one time out left fourteen
thirteen twelve. They are just in confusion right now. They're
(02:09:51):
waiting to try to clock it here. They're going to
clock it here alright, four three to there. It is
three seconds left, So Bucker is gonna come on. Tie
game twenty three all and Bucker is going to have
a chance to win this game. He's three for three
on field goal attempts. I'm also happy to say he
is my fantasy kicks. So confusing, I mean, this is
(02:10:13):
so confusing to me. Why wouldn't you use the time
out and make it easier on yourself instead of harder?
I understand how clocking on third down, but it's a
forty four yard field goal attempt right now, three seconds
to go in the game. Bucker has come on. The
kick is up and the kick is right down the middle.
It is good and that is the game. The Kansas
(02:10:33):
City Chiefs have defeated the Minnesota Vikings twenty six to
twenty three. Chiefs moved to six and three, Vikings fall
to six and three. Crazy end of that game, but
a huge win for the Chiefs with Matt Moore at quarterback.
As they sit out, my Homes justes what Matt Moore
was able to do something this season that Patrick Mahomes
(02:10:54):
couldn't and that's win at home. So that's the first
victory for the Chiefs this season at arrow Head. And
we're talking about Kirk Cousins and we're talking about big
games and his winning loss record in those games. He
played well. Tonight, he played well, but this is gonna
go down as another loss in a big boy pull
up the bootstraps and get a w when your team
(02:11:16):
absolutely needs to sort of game for Kirk Cousins, and
it's unfortunate, but that's how it goes. That's been the
story his whole career, Alright, so again, just to update you,
the Eagles held on to beat the Bears twenty two
to fourteen. Earlier, the Bills to feed the Redskins to
nine the Lenning game. Early this morning, Texas defeating the
(02:11:36):
Jaguars three after the Vinitary miss that would have given
the Colts at one point Lee. The Steelers have the
ball with a minute ago, leading the Colts fo You
gotta wonder about the fallout for the NFL's all time
leading score after that butchery by Vinitary. There Panthers in control.
They're up ten with the ball thirty to twenty over
(02:11:57):
the Titans to forty one to go, and the game.
Dolphins are leading the Jets twenty six to fifteen. Jets
have the ball less than two minutes to go, and
as we mentioned, the Chiefs has defeat of the Vikings
three as a Butcker kicked his fourth field goal of
the game. All right, we're in the getic Fox Sports
Radio studios. Not only do we have these games wrapping
(02:12:19):
up right now, we got games that are kicking off.
We're gonna get to all of them coming up. Next.
Placement is down, Bucker's kick is up, and the kick
is good. I got it. Pudka got it and the
Checks have won the game in regulation. Carrolson Poker Game
one are Kansas City and six and three never felt
(02:12:42):
so good? Cheese Radio Network the game winner for Bucker
as the Chief's defeat the Vikings six to twenty three,
which the most important thing for the Chiefs there. First
of all, they get their home win. Uh, but it
gives them a little more breathing room. As far as
the return of Trick Mahomes, we had mentioned with the
Raiders playing right now no score early on at home
(02:13:04):
against the Lions, Chargers at home today against the Packers,
that if the Chiefs had lost today and those teams
win all of a sudden, the Raiders will be a
half game back, the Charger will be one game back.
And maybe you feel a little pressure. We gotta get
my Homes out there. But by winning this game. Uh. Again,
if I'm the Chiefs, I'm not taking any chances my
franchise quarterback at all. And by the way, what a
(02:13:27):
story of Matt Moore, I mean Matt More He was
GoJ high school football last year. He was out of
the league. Uh. And even though the Vikings got him
a couple of times on blitz sacks. He held it
together and played a very solid game. Yeah, he was
under duress all game long. And some of those throws,
especially a late game sideline throw to Tyreek Hill on
(02:13:50):
an important third down. Uh, he was hit by two
Vikings defenders. He was sacked five times. But you're right,
he threw for over two seventy five yards. He had
a touchdown eating thrown interception. This is the impressive game
by Matt Moore. And this goes a long way to
the other narrative at the quarterback position in this game,
which is Kirk Cousins losing against good competitions all right
(02:14:14):
afternoon games buck in the years. How about this opening
drive of the game on the road against the Seahawks.
Touchdown Ronald Jones and eight yard run. So very impressive
opening drive for Tampa Bay seven place, seventy five yards. Uh,
and they jump on Seattle early. Now the Seahawks are
sitting at six and two right now. Ironically, both of
their losses are at home, which you would think Seattle
(02:14:37):
again has this huge advantage. You know, the two noisiest
home fields are Seattle in Kansas City. Both these teams
have struggled at home So the Seahawks are four and
a on the road. But this is true at home, Steve,
this is true everywhere. Seahawks huge home field advantage, losers
at home. Denver Broncos huge home field advantage. Losers at home. Chiefs,
(02:14:57):
even though they got a victory today, are one and
three at home this season. I mean these are classic
venues that are difficult to travel to and get victories.
Across the entirety of the NFL home teams in the
first half of the season, I've lost at home a lot.
How about this? So the Dolphins were leading the Jets
twenty six to fifteen. Uh Sam Donald having a hard
(02:15:19):
time getting in the end zone, So the Jets settled
with a field goal with fifteen seconds left. Technically they're
still alive. It's twenty eighteen. So the Jets will attempt
the on site kick and have like one play to
try to get in the end zone and then a
two point conversion. What do you think the odds are right? Well,
I mean I think they set themselves. I think they
(02:15:40):
set themselves up perfectly to pounce on the Dolphins and
forced this game until overtime. If there's any team in
the NFL who could have this happen to them. It's
the Miami Dolphins. They're that perfect msture of unlucky and
bad speaking a bad Tennessee had a chance to cut
the lead to seven with a forty four yard field
goal attempt forty sixty seven seconds left. Sucker who just
(02:16:03):
got signed, hit the upright. So Carolina with a ten
point lead. That's gonna be the game there. Uh As
the Panthers will move to right now five and three
on the season. Uh tough loss for the toss loss
for the Titans tannhel It's rant thirty one yards passing
today but through a couple of interceptions, and of course
(02:16:24):
has always the big story for Carolina. Christian McCaffrey three touchdowns.
He had a hundred forty six yards rushing, So they survived.
Carolina moves on and the scoring update. What do you got?
The Seahawks are on the board touchdown Russell Wilson to Tyler,
so they answered the Tampa Bay Jones score with the
Tyler Lockett touchdown reception of their own. And by the way,
(02:16:45):
the Raiders right up against the goal line of the
lines early in the action here six minutes into or
about seven minutes into the first quarter. Uh. Josh Jacobs
doing a lot of work on this drive. Six carries
forty four yards uh, and they are not on the door.
Set up first and goal at the three yard line.
It's over. The Miami Dolphins have won their first game
(02:17:06):
of the season. They have defeated the New York Jets
eighteen and the Raiders get to walk in for their
first score of the games. So that means now that
the Cincinnati Bengals are the only winless team in the
National Football League. Congratulations Cincinnati. Zach Taylor still scratching his
head trying to figure out what went wrong and why
(02:17:28):
they'll be benching Andy Dalton. He found out that news
on his birthday of all times. And by the way,
just quick highlight on this Raiders touchdown was Richie Incognito,
the left guard pulling to the outside. We block, key
block on this job. Josh Jacobs score. So the run
game getting it done in Oakland. Back in the black
(02:17:48):
hole for the first time after fifty days on the road,
Jacobs has been a final question. You called that one.
By the way, rich forty six yards rushing on this
opening drive for the Raiders. UH, and the score right there.
So the Raiders, We've talked about this before. If you
look at the Raiders schedule, so there's stay at three
and four right now. They've got this home game against
(02:18:09):
the Lions. Then they have the short week Thursday night
home game against the Chargers, and then they get ten
days to prepare for the winless Bengals, all at home.
You sweep those three games, you get the six and four,
and then you look at the rest of the schedule
at the Jets, Ah, that sounds like a winnable game.
(02:18:31):
That could get you too seven wins. You all have
home games against the Titans and Jaguars. Those are long
trips or those teams. I'm county wins there. That could
be nine wins. Let's say they lose on the road
to the Chiefs, ok, and then you finished the season
at the Chargers, which essentially is like a Raider home game,
and then at the Broncos. So the question is do
(02:18:54):
they have a ten wins on their schedule? And yeah,
if they win the games they should win, that's double
digit wins for the Raiders. Yeah. You never know when
a team's gonna get hot. And I mean this for
the Raiders and also for some of the teams on
the rest of their schedule. Remember, the Jaguars may have
Nick Foles back at that point, who knows what quarterback
changes will take place. Pat mcpatrick Mahomes comes back for
(02:19:17):
the Chiefs. Obviously, Denver is debuting a new quarterback. It's
really it's a challenge to count wins when you still
have a half a season left to see how things
pan out. But the Raiders, I feel like they're sitting
in the captain's seat right now as far as their
own destiny is concerned in a chase for a wild
card position, because the Chiefs are finding ways to win.
(02:19:38):
Man all right, A couple of games are gonna be
kicking off here shortly, a couple of interesting games. One
of them is the Browns on the road against the Broncos.
A two and five Browns team against the two and
six Broncos team. And it's interesting right now the quarterback
position for both these teams. Obviously, for Baker Mayfield, it's
(02:20:00):
a disastrous second season for him for a variety of reasons.
Uh And again, Freddie Kitchens, a guy that you know
well who got a lot of credit, deservedly so for
being a guy that jumped in his offensive coordinator. Great
second half of the Browns. He's learning the job right now,
and at least early on first half of the season,
he seems to be a little overwhelmed as a hunt
(02:20:21):
coach in the NFL. Had just not been impressive in
any respect. It's not just Baker Mayfield. It just seems
to be a total dysfunction in the first half of
the Cleveland Browns. When you turn on the Browns, they're
running and I mean, I've watched a good amount of
film on this team. They're they're running the same offense,
and they're actually running the same offense last year with
better weapons this year. And so you scratch your head
(02:20:44):
and you wonder, what's what's the problem, what's the difference?
And really I think it comes down to play calling
more consistently Freddie Kitchens. But Baker Mayfield in this offense
in a better position to score the football, had him
in rhythm more often. It just feels so herky jerky
the way the play calls are coming in. It doesn't
feel like there's ever a rhythm. It just sort of
(02:21:06):
feels like plays are being called off of a sheet
and and they're they're not for any consequence or reason.
It's very odd. You know, there are a lot of
offensive plays that are ran where you know that at
best they're only gonna let you five yards, but they
set up the CounterPunch which could let you forty yards
on a play action or whatever. You just don't see
(02:21:29):
a lot of that happening in Cleveland right now. And meanwhile,
danver of Chorus. With Flacco out, they're gonna start Brandon Allen,
who makes his first NFL start at the twenty seven
year old back of the problem right now because Bronco
fans are like, where's Drew Lock. Well, he's on i
R until Week eleven, so Drew Lock is not going
to be out there. So wow. I mean, you talk
(02:21:51):
about an organization that is absolutely gone south on the
Super Bowl a couple of years ago. Well that's getting
a lot longer ago now, doesn't it seem like ten
years ago? And it's like four years like four or
five years now, but but still remember the difference. Then
you had Peyton Manning, who a year prior to the
Super Bowl victory put up career numbers maybe arguably the
(02:22:12):
best career season of his career. And then the next
year he did enough alongside of brock Oswilder Oddly defense, No, no, no, no,
I mean, do you realize that Denver defense actually had
better numbers than the eighty five Bears. The Denver defense
and the way they were set up to rush the
(02:22:33):
past here that year, and the way they used the
blitz was almost second to none, like you just mentioned,
I mean, comparable to the eighty five Bears. Um, this
Denver defense is actually performing really well. Look at the numbers.
Their offense has been absolutely atrocious and that's the reason
why they've lost all but two games. All Right, Another
team that is desperate for a victory to try to
(02:22:54):
stay alive are the Chargers right now, they are sitting
at three and five. They got a gift victory against
the Bears. Last way they'll take it, Uh, Philip Rivers
against this Green Bay Packer team. The Packers coming favored.
It is a sea of green is expected out there
at the soccer stadium. Uh. And this is the course
uh Stike in the new offensive coordinator for the Chargers
(02:23:16):
after Ken wizzen Hunt was fired. Earlier. You mentioned Rich
that you're expecting that we're gonna see a whole lot
of Melvin Gordon today, but he just carried the ball,
so it's the same offense to me. You know what
I said is if I were Shane Syke and I'd
be given the ball a lot more to Austin Ekeler
Melvin Gordon for whatever reason, and you could blame the
play calling has been really awful this season so far.
(02:23:39):
You're hoping for the breakout games. So he looks like
old Melvin, but we haven't seen that yet this year. Alright,
So the Chargers trying to get some offense going right now,
ran a reverse it and go very far, so that
game is kicking off right now. We mentioned the fact
that we got a seven seven game between Tampa and Seattle,
and of course we're also going to get into the
(02:24:00):
big matchup tonight. Can the Baltimore Ravens in New England's
undefeated season. We'll get to all of that. Great news.
Quick and easy way for you to save money switched
the Geico only takes fifteen minutes to see if you
can say fift more on your car insurance. Go to
dot com see how much you can save. All right,
let's find out what's trending right now is where in
the Geico Fox Sports Radio Studios, David Gascon once again
(02:24:23):
jumps into the fray. How's your fantasy team doing today? Um,
we're work in progress. I made a bold last second move.
I pulled Jacoby Brissette, actually released him and picked up
and picked up Derek Carr. WHOA, that's a good move,
my friend, because Jacoby Brissette put up like two points
before the ankle injury. Anklen get rolled up on and
(02:24:46):
Jared Goff is on a bi obviously, so we'll see
if it pans out for me. But so far it's
all Jacobs. So with this Raiders often, let' let's talk
about that Rich. Good luck to you and Derek Carr
appreciate jackers Man kicker looking to Kansas City first, placeman
is down, Bucker's kick is up and the kick is good.
He got it. Podka got it, and the Chicks have
(02:25:08):
won the game in regulation. Carolson Podcar game winner Kansas
City and six and three never felt so good, and
Matt Moore is at quarterback to Damian Williams to have
Carrious for und in twenty five yards Tyreek Hills six
grabs for one forty Kansas City wins that game, Colts
(02:25:28):
are lining up for a game winning field goal as well.
Here comes to snap its down the kick five innit
Terry is on its way. It's bets, it's miss The
Steelers thought a huge poet. Where when do you tell
him to retire? I mean, did you see that kick?
It was awful. I mean that one sideways. It was
fifteen yards away from the left goal post. That was awful.
(02:25:51):
It was that that has to be I mean, he
saved himself a week ago with that fifty one yard er,
But I mean he missing extra points. Are you trying
to say they're two? They're more good days behind him?
Then let me ask what is seventy three? My point is, looking,
you have a Hall of fame, you really want to
embarrass yourself out there like this? Well, and it's embarrassing.
(02:26:14):
You're costing your team. He's gonna be forty seven next month.
It's not time. Bye bye, spend time with the grandchildren,
all right. So Jacoby Bricelle was knocked out of this game.
Brian Hoyer came in seventy one sixty three touchdown passes.
He did throw a pick six, though, to Mica Fitzpatrick
(02:26:35):
in the loss. Carolina. They won. They beat the Titans
three to twenty. Christian McCaffrey a hundred forty six yards
and three touchdowns and this one, unfortunately, the Dolphins win
today uh eighteen. They beat the New York Jets. Ryan
Fitzpatrick had three touchdown passes in the victory and that one.
Bucks and Seahawks are locked up at seven apiece so far.
(02:26:55):
And this affair Raiders early on leading, or they were leading,
and then Matthew Stafford just threw a touch cham pass.
Of course petting a pH t. We should be tied up,
but no guarantees, just jet packers and Chargers, no score.
Same thing in Denver between the Broncos and the Browns.
Relier today Buffalo beat the Redskins. Eagles mail gotta beat
the Bears twenty two to fourteen. Guys, back to you,
(02:27:17):
all right, David, thank you very much. Once again, we're
coming alive from the guy. Go Fox Sports Radio Studios.
He's to say, fifteen per centemar in currentcran So get go,
go to get dot com or call eight on a
night first of an oud of the only hard part
figure out which way is easier. Just getting back to
Adam Vinytary, who should be a first ballot Hall of Famer,
no questions asked. He's missed five extra points are right
(02:27:38):
this year? I mean that is just that is just inexcusable.
And then a sideway kick for a field gold that
could have won the game, critical game for the Colts.
I mean that's their third loss of the season. They
needed to win that one. Meanwhile, the Chargers opening drive
is going very well. They started deep in their own
territory and they're out to midfield. So again, this is
(02:28:00):
a team that before the season began rightfully. So you
looked at the Chargers roster, they have a lot of weapons,
big pass right there by the way. Last week the
return of Russell Okun who played very well, and I
was just watching on that play. Ok again, watch that
left tackle position right there. Such a key obviously when
(02:28:20):
you don't have a mobile quarterback, but you need a
guy that can block, and o'cun doing just that, giving
Rivers enough time to get the first down pass down
to the Packers thirty five yard line. Do you still
buy into the Chargers that they are still a contender?
I mean, if you think about it, three and five,
halfway through the season. You gotta go six and two
(02:28:41):
just to get to nine wins. That's no guarantee to
get into the playoffs. Ten wins means you gotta go
seven and one. Yeah, look, I mean I called the
upset today. Uh so I think that they're actually gonna
win this game against the Packers. They have a short
week this week and then a Thursday road game against
the Raiders, which I again depending on, you know, how
(02:29:02):
healthy the Raiders come out of this Sunday's performance, uh
could could be a big factor and Chargers as well.
But the Chargers are getting healthy at this point. Like
you mentioned, having a coon back is huge for them.
More comfort at the center position after Pouncey goes down
earlier this season, now that you have a couple of
games in with your backup. Philip Rivers has a new
(02:29:25):
offensive coordinator who's very comfortable with has been working with
Shane styke h In for years. Sometimes a shake up
at the top, sometimes having a little change, a little
little fresh said, a new voice in my ear. Yeah,
well right, exactly, a new voice in your ear. Sometimes
it's all you need to sort of move forward when
you get a little stuck during the season and how
many times have we seen the Chargers classically historically with
(02:29:47):
Philip Rivers, make a late season charge and all of
a sudden end up in the playoff conversation in the
latter portion of the season, we'll go back to year when,
if you don't know this, Rich arm Burger lead the
Chargers into the playoffs that year with four late victories
and a road win against the Bengals team I believe
that had not lost a single home game going into
(02:30:09):
that playoff game. On this opening drive, by the way,
by the Chargers, seventy eight yards already, ten plays, five passes,
five runs. Okay, so perfect balance so far. Uh, they
are down to the seventeen yard line of the Packers.
They have a second and five, So at least this
very first drive could not be going any better for
(02:30:30):
the Chargers. Yeah, and they're incorporating both Melvin Gordon and
Austin Ekeler out of the backfield. As a matter of fact,
on a swing pass to go to Melvin Gordon, he
gets the first down down to the ten yard line.
It looks like so the Chargers have a fresh set
of downs and potentially looking at a first in goal
situation from the ten. Alright, Uh, Sars the Cleveland Denver
(02:30:52):
game is concerned. Don't ask. There's nothing happening there, all right,
don't ask. Uh. Well, yeah, Denver's opening drive three and
out and then we had five and out for the Browns,
so nothing's going on there. So uh. The Raiders and Lions,
of course, are tied at seven. The Lions answered after
the Raiders opening drive with a touchdown pass from Stafford
(02:31:14):
to Marvin Jones Jr. Al Right, first and goal for
the Chargers. Right now, they're at the ten yard line
of the Packers. Plenty of time for Rivers. He's gonna
roll out left, he's gonna run. That's never a good sign.
That's a no gainer. So that'll be second and ten
from the ten yard line, second and goal from the Rivers.
He's like trying to say, I no know. Did you
see my extend my arm. They're like, yeah, but you're
(02:31:35):
already standing out of bounds when you did that. Yeah,
so Philip Rivers, you can extend it, but once your
feet walk out of bounds, that look. I had an
offensive line coach when I was with New England who said, listen,
you gotta protect Tom Brady. Well, because he can't run
out of site in a week. And that is the
same problem with Philip Rivers. He is a great and
I mean great passer, but he is not going to
(02:31:56):
beat anybody on the edges. No, he's not all right.
So we have that can go for the Chargers trying
to and by the way, just eating up clock. I
mean we're halfway through the first quarter right now, and
that's one way of beating Aaron Rodgers keeping boy. Good
protection by the Chargers. Now they get to him and
they sack him. It's a one yard sack for the Packers.
So third and goal from the eleven yard line. Hey, ill,
(02:32:19):
first of all, give him credit because we have seen
Rivers in recent weeks throwing some really bad passes that
have led to interceptions. The red zone. Turnovers has just
been brutal. Two turnovers, two interceptions in the red zone.
This season, the Charges have been awful in this area
of the field from the one yard line and goal
to go situations. They've suffered three fumbles that have resulted
(02:32:42):
in turnovers that have led to one score losses. Maybe
a much better team if they don't have so many
hiccups this area of the field. All right, third and
goal from the eleven yard line. Pass, so the end
zones knocked away, So the Chargers are gonna have to
settle for a field goal attempt. Uh And by the way,
their kicker is back, Is that right? This week? I
(02:33:05):
believe the regular kickers like as they've had so many kickers.
Was mcculloff right, they brought him in. They brought him
in because they had an injury a kicker earlier this season.
But I think they're the guy that started the year.
They've had every kicker. Yeah, here he is back. So
last season he kicked he was fifteen. Is sixteen last
year he's been out this year. So twenty nine yard
(02:33:28):
attempt for him. Uh As he will be kicking into
a sea of green and the kicks right through the middle.
So the Chargers the early three o thing late? How
about that they killed more than eight minutes on that
opening drive. So Aaron Rodgers and the Packers will finally
get their hands on the ball. Trailing this game three
to nothing, said, three three points on the board and
(02:33:50):
half of the first quarter off the clock. How do
you devenomize the Green Bay Packers offense? Like you keep
him off the on their sidelines. And it's a true
end this game plan. If that's the game plan, utilize
the run game, create third and manageable situations, slowly work
your way down the field, milk the clock. The best
(02:34:11):
the best defense sometimes is having a time of possession offense.
So well done by the Chargers. There all right, Raiders
on the roll again. So this game tied at seven,
both teams scoring with their first time with the ball,
and now the Raiders UH have the ball. Actually, I'm
sorry the Lions fumble. That's right on their opening drive.
Raiders touchdown, Lions touchdown, and now the Raiders are down
(02:34:34):
to the UH Lions twenty two yard line with the
first down. So the Raiders are feeling pretty good right
now about themselves, and they should. They've been on the
road twenty thousand miles, was that right? Twenty miles through
the air through a forty nine day UH road schedule
that included a home game in London. Of course that's
(02:34:56):
not a home game. UH. They run a fly sweep,
they get a about to the twenty yard line, the
Raiders do, and so that's where the action is at
early in the goings against the Lions. How about this
Tampa on the move again. So this one is tied
at seven in Seattle. I don't think anybody saw this
one coming. Ironically, the seahawks only two losses this year
(02:35:19):
are at home and the only two Bucks wins are
on the road. Yeah, they had that big victory against
the Rams, and you'd have to remind me of what
the other one was. But the Tampa by Buccaneers up
and down year. Jamis Winston really has been a turnover
machine this season. Uh. He's responsible for eighteen turnovers both
(02:35:40):
through the air and interceptions and fumbling the ball six times.
So far. It's just been Jekyl and hide. Sometimes he's
great and getting the ball down field, and sometimes he's
thrown it to the other team. Right now, he's off
to a good start. He's eight of ten so far,
seventy six yards. Look when you have Evans, when he
got God, when you got weapons, man, I mean, this
is not a Buccaneers team void of talent, but when
(02:36:02):
you're turning the ball over constantly, uh, it makes it
very difficult to win. She's a very bad offensive line
for the Buccaneers. They let up a lot of pressure.
They're not very good blocking for the run. So there
are excuses here, and they've been present throughout the majority
of his career with the Bucks. But Jamis needs to
protect the football. That is priority number one. And Winston
(02:36:24):
throws in the end zone on a tip it's caught touchdown.
What Godwin is that? Godwin was tipped up in the
air and Perriman just swooped in and caught it. And
there's no flags on the field. So Tampa Bay with
a touchdown. We're watching the review right now. So Perriman
(02:36:44):
was standing out in front the ball throw in the
end zone. The ball is tipped up right into his hands.
Tell you what that was like a defensive team meeting.
There were three Seattle Seahawks and there were two receivers
bunched up near each other. That was a dangerous throw.
One of the Seahawks defenders stepped in front of Evans.
The ball bounces off his hands high in the airman
(02:37:06):
who was definite? Yeah, he came swooping in, caught the
ball for for the score. Alright, no question on that one.
So seven penning the extra point. All right, we're in
the guy, go Fox Sports Radio Studios. It's been a
busy show today. We'll kid continue to update you on
everything NFL coming up next in Gold is set in
(02:37:28):
front of Jacobs. They've got power on both sides. Here's
Jacob's gonna come to the left steps outside of the race. Touchdown,
touchdown Ritter Radiers Radio Network. And if you're wondering, yeah,
that's Brent Musburger. He is ninety years old and stilled
calling games as good as ever. By the way, Brent Musburger,
amazing job there. Remember they're moving to Vegas next year.
(02:37:50):
Doesn't he have like a gambling establishment that he uh
is running right now? So when they moved to Vegas,
he he's gonna have a lot of work going on
there in Vegas. How about Denver with a seven nothing
late early against Cleveland. Hey, what if the Browns lose
this game? Lookout, whoa we have a huge, huge catch
and run by Mike Williams in this Chargers game. The
(02:38:12):
Chargers are dominating Stike end coach of the year. So
you have a shoutout crossing route. Philip Rivers in the shotgun,
drops back, perfect pocket, steps up, delivers a strike to
Mike Williams and he took it. Look this guy's long.
He's big. You remember him from Clemson, you wouldn't remember
him as much as a Charger so far early in
(02:38:33):
his career. But he's a first round pick, sixth overall
and he earned it on that one. Actually, let me
say seventh overall and just the record, the guy that
was the eighth pick in the draft was Christian McCaffrey. Okay,
a near miss. And Melvin Gordon has been productive over
his career. This season he has not been We have
(02:38:54):
a flag on the ensuing play, assuming that's going to
be a holding call in the Charger right, Well, let's
thank the guys today. First of all, we got Iowa
Sam running the board right there, wearing his packer gear.
Not liking this right now? Embarrassing? Would this be tolucid
the lowly charge him after I called the upset? You
have the audacity the nerve to wear this Green Bay Packers.
(02:39:18):
You know they might there might squad. You're gonna be
on the wrong side of this one. Maybe maybe, but
you know my roommate Gavin, he'll be pleased. He will
be lead a lap right now. I was like, why
did I take the day off? Um? Jeremy and Samantha
helping out is always thank you very much, keeping very
very busy. Are you are you confident about the Patriots today? No? No, no,
(02:39:39):
no confidence. Um. I know she is a Jets fan
and she feels like the Jets just lost to the
windlass Dolphins and that's over. We might have a sack
fumble in this Packers. Thank Gaskon for all his help today.
And then of course there's Ryan who stepped in today. Ryan,
how is her experience today producing this show? You know
what it it's fine. It flew by, it does good.
(02:40:02):
Time flies by as we tried to big sack by
the Packers right there by the way, Samantha that that
really hurts when your Jets lose to the windless Dolphins.
So the Dolphins are no longer winless. The Bengals sit alone.
Is the only winless team uh in the National Football League.
All right, so the Chargers right now with a second
and twenty four, as the Packers are trying to slow
(02:40:24):
down this stiken lad offense. Was that intercepted? That looks
like an interception? Although that I guess there are whistles
before the play got off because nobody moved when the
snap came back to Philip Rivers. I think that was
short hopped. He fired a football into the defensive secondary
that might have bounced off the hands of the defendant.
(02:40:47):
You see that, All right, let's watch the replay. I
saw ground right there. That's ground. I don't know. That
looked like it hit his hand. That's ground right there.
That's that's that's double ground. There's no interception. Well, then good,
because I got the I know you do. You're giving
three and a half points in this one? Uh? And
you're are you getting three and a half points in
this one with the Chargers home underdog? All right? So
(02:41:08):
third and twenty four right now for the Chargers, they
are at the twenty seven yard line of the Packers,
meaning they need to get a lot of yards here.
They need to get down to the three yard line
for a first down. They're leading this game three to nothing.
A little screen passed to Eckler and that will not
get nearly enough, So the Chargers will have another field
goal attempt coming up right now. Meanwhile, the Lions, they're
(02:41:30):
trailing ten to seven to the Raiders. Raiders will look good,
but so the Lions, yeah, well you know, And and
quick before I comment on the Raiders, the Chargers have
now pretty much possessed the ball the entirety of the
first quarter. And again if they end up getting this
off in, Michael Badgeley, their normal kicker back from injury,
a groin injury suffered earlier this year, is about to
(02:41:52):
tag on three more should he make this he made
from twenty nine yards out earlier, This attempt from forty
from the left hash and the Chargers really need this
run right now. I'm gonna give you some numbers right
down the middle. Bads are looking good. I total offense
in this game right now, Chargers a hundred thirty six yards,
green Bay negative two first downs, Chargers seven, Green Bay zero.
(02:42:17):
Time of possession, Chargers eleven minutes and thirteen seconds, Packers
two minutes and forty three seconds. And we have a
miss kick in the Seattle game which is going on
now against Tampa Bay. They trail seven. It's fourteen seven.
Seattle had the football uh and and a look at
three points. But a big play for the Lions, and
(02:42:39):
that one is a touchdown for the Lions, big pass
play Kenny Golladay in for the score and it was
a throw from Stafford. So the Lions on the board,
and it's gonna be thirteen ten Raiders. It could be
fourteen ten if they actually ten Lions, excuse me, Lions
Raiders trailing by three, potentially four at home. Trader makes
the alright, so big pass play. Their stafford definitely on
(02:43:02):
top of that. All right, So tonight I want a
prediction right now from your rich Patriots on the road
against the Ravens. How do you see tonight's game. You're
going to see the Patriots bottle up Lamar Jackson significantly
for the first time this year. The Patriots gonna win
convincingly on the road against Baltimore. We'll definitely say, can
you beat you? Beat us with your arm? Two touchdown
(02:43:24):
passes allowed, nineteen interceptions for that Patriots defense. Look for
the paths to stay undefeated.
