Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Without question, one of
the most interesting teams in the NFL this year is
gonna be Chicago for the second straight year. Everybody's jumping
on the Bears are headed to the playoff bandwagon, and
as we sit here in the middle of summer, just
sweating our tushes off, waiting to the point that we
get to actual football content, I found myself amazed. Not
(00:24):
that the Bears are going to be interesting going into
the season, not that we have a talking point around
Chicago and what they're gonna look like on the field,
but that, for wild reasons, the Bears now find themselves
at the center of the NFL attention cycle for a
questionable signing, And it just makes me wonder sometimes why
bad football teams continually make bad football moves. It's Bucking
(00:46):
Fits taking over Fox Sports Radio on a Fox Sports Saturday.
He's Buck Rising, I'm Jason Fitz We're coming at you
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios, and Buck, you know,
I'm just say GM news doesn't usually make me percolate,
doesn't usually get me excited, doesn't make my no nose
say yes yes, But it did when I saw Ryan
Poles get an extension from Chicago Bears. And I'm sitting
(01:08):
here trying to figure out how a GM that has
been in charge of a franchise that, to be clear,
had the first overall pick two consecutive years. They earned
the first overall pick two consecutive years. They've done nothing
but lose football games, and last year was an unmitigated
disaster for the Bears. We haven't even seen the reclamation
project hit the field yet Chicago rewards a GM that
(01:32):
still had two years left on his contract with a
three year contract extension. I can't decide if Bears ownership
just likes tinkling away cash and so they figured they're
just going to guarantee more money to somebody that might stick,
or if Chicago see something the rest of the world
doesn't see Buck, But to me, at the very least
was curious.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
I don't know how I could be expected to do
serious NFL general manager analysis When the show opened with
my make mine no no parts, say yes yes, and
then just the visual that you paided for the audience
of you sweating your tiny, little forty plus year old
pichhe off like I'm sorry that you're smoking panties are
(02:14):
all up in a bunch as we start the show today.
But you know what, the city of Chicago, they should
have their panties in a bunch today because it's nonsense.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
I know.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
We can't cover all things and know all things all
the time at once, which is why you and I,
with the collection of people that we've been able to
bring into our lives, have at least enough of a
knowledge base to where if you have some questions about
a certain situation before you decide to tee off, you
can reach out and you can find out what maybe
(02:48):
am I missing here about this circumstance because on paper,
of course, don't make any damn sense at all to
give Ryan Pole's an extension. And so I texted a
friend of mine that covers the Bears, that is a
Chicago native, and just trying to understand what blind spots
I might have about this situation, and not only to
(03:09):
discover fits that people in Chicago are as confused about
this as anybody. This man had two years left on
his deal. General managers don't get more opportunities usually in
the NFL after they get their first one. We see
retread coaches all the time. We do not see retread
general managers. So, in my tiny little pea brain, I'm
(03:33):
sitting here, I'm just pondering. With two years left on
his deal and a non existent track record of success
other than finding a quarterback and a coach who people
believe might turn into something at some point, maybe down
the line, provided that all the things that they need
to get done and have tried to get done in
(03:54):
the past couple of offseasons, finally, finally, finally, for a
franchise that has cursed at the court position, finally these
things come to fruition. Two years left on his deal?
What the hell is the urgency? What leverage did Ryan
Poles have here? Wouldn't it all be wouldn't it be
nice for all of us who work in contract situations
(04:15):
to just, you know, have two years left on your
deal and somebody just shove more money in your face
and say no, please, don't go anywhere? Where was he
gonna go? Where is the market for Ryan Poles? What
am I missing about this situation?
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Yeah, because the other part of it is it's not like, oh, well,
you know what, he's got two years left on his deal,
but he's gone to the Super Bowl eighteen time. I'm like,
if this is Howie Roseman, I don't care how many
years he's got left on his deal. You want to
just keep paying Howie Roseman whatever you want to pay
Howie Roseman. That makes sense. Okay. We all have a
friend somewhere that is just the worst in relationships, like
the most dysfunctional friend day. This is this is that
(04:50):
guy the Chicago Bears. We all have that one friend
in our friend sickle And by the way, if you don't,
then it might be you that you know, is the
guy that's in a terrible relationship.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
With the girl or their partner, whoever they're in a
relationship with.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
They get in an absolute brawl with them where it's
like that's it, we are done, I'm never speaking to
you again. And the next day it's like, yeah, ask
to marry me, Like that is what this is. Where
it's like you are coming off of the worst of
the worst and you're gonna sit you and be like yeah,
esst because like, let's remember whatever tools we think that
the Bears have in the shed. Right now, we have
to acknowledge that Ryan Bols was part of the organization
(05:25):
that did earn the first overall pick two years in
a row, even though they traded it the second time.
He is the head of the regime that decided to
keep Eberflus for no reason. Like the whole world, anybody
that didn't have their head firmly planted up there we
were in last year, knew that Eberflus was a bad idea,
right like we all saw that.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
So dumb, so dumb. And you know, I I this
is what I appreciate about about NFL organizations and NFL fans,
And I do think that this is a It's probably
some level of reruns that I'm in whether I've said
this on Fox or with you or on the local
show here in Nashville, or whatever the case may be.
But just because these people make millions of dollars, even
(06:06):
at the highest of high levels in these organizations, that
don't make them smarter than you. You know what I'm
saying Like this, this is the kind of thing that
shows even though the Bears have hope and the Bears
have promise, and the Bears have a young quarterback with
an aspiring, potentially potentially right fit type of head coach,
(06:27):
they can still get in their own way and continue
to make the organization bad because you can't trust their
decision making. I mean, Fitzy, I cover the Titans, you're
a fan of the Raiders. We have both been through
varying levels of what the hell are you doing with
the organizations that we spend the vast majority of our
time talking about, or you know, covering or rooting for
(06:48):
whatever the case may be. No matter who you are,
this is and I'm just I'm Ben Johnson, the new
head coach there. You don't have a pre existing relationship
with Ryan Poles. So even if you wanted to put
them on the same timeline, it's not like Ben Johnson's
out here banging the table, the new hot young coach
that you just added to yourselse. It's not like he's
banging the table to say no, Ryan Poles and I
(07:08):
have to be interlocked. We have to be lockstep. I mean,
of course they have to be lockstep, but in terms
of like their contractual timeline, it is a huge vote
of confidence in Ryan Poles for what What about the
Bears gives anybody confidence? The Bears best thing going right now.
(07:31):
And I know this because I cover a team that
just drafted the number one overall pick and is in
a similar situation where they don't expect to be good
in twenty twenty five, but at least they have the
thing that's going to sue them for the time being.
They have hope. They have the hope of a young quarterback,
a young promising quarterback, and Chicago has that. Beyond that,
they don't have Jack.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
To me, it's the timing of it that just makes
this full on stupid, Like there's just no nice way
to say that, because with two years left in the deal,
this is so wildly unnecessary. Again, if you were right,
if the Bears believe that Ryan Poles is a mastermind
and he's about to be Howie Roseman in the second right,
if that's what they truly believe, you got him on
(08:12):
a contract for two more years. Let it play out.
Save yourself a little bit of time, save yourself a
little bit of grief, save yourself a little aggravation. There
is no salary cap for front office employees, so you
don't have to worry about getting ahead on a contract.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
You just save yourself everything and wait and.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
See how it plays out. Yeah, he got the coach
that everybody coveted this offseason, combined with the number one
overall picked that most people did not question a year ago.
This looks really good for Chicago. But where's the harm
in just letting it play out. You don't have to
elope right now. You don't have to turn around and
suddenly get into this situation with two years left. If
they're right, all they did was speed up having to
(08:48):
pay more money, which doesn't really help them in any way,
shape or form. If they're wrong, now all of a
sudden they got to deal with And you know this
better than anybody covering the Titans. Ownership spends a bunch
of money. Oh man. Anytime ownership extends somebody and that
involves new money on it, they are more hesitant to
simply pull the plug because it's embarrassing for everybody involved
(09:08):
that said spend the money. So now, all of a
sudden that if Ryan Poles and the Bears stink this year,
are the Bears going to be as quick to move
off of him, knowing that they just guaranteed a lot
more money to him one way or the other. I
wouldn't want to face that variable if I'm a Bears
fan right now.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Also, who the hell is running the Bears? Like Virginia
allis mccaski passed away. She's been the longtime matriarch of
that franchise, and I went down Reddit rabbit holes trying
to figure out the ownership structure for the Bears. I
tried to look up resources, and like, I know that
there are people running the Bears organization. I know the
McCaskey family has been running the Bear's organization. I understand
(09:48):
that that is a family owned business. It's a bit
of a mom and pop shop, and those things exist
everywhere in the NFL. But again, like you say, me
knowing better than most, I cover an organization that had
some in fighting, we'll call it at the top. When
Bud Adams, the long time the founder of the Houston
Oilers then turned Tennessee Titans franchise, passed away and all
(10:09):
his children and family members were trying to figure out
how to divvy up the ownership structure, and the league
was getting pissed at them because nobody really knew who
was running the Titans, and the Titans were god forsaken
at the time until Amy Adams Strunk, who is now
the controlling owner, stepped in to that role in twenty
fifteen and has since been the one that at least
you can hold her accountable. You know, the face of
(10:30):
the person making the decisions on this. Bears fans must
be in a total blender about this situation. And I
got to witness this firsthand because that's who the Titans
opened with last year famously with the Will Levis interception.
I was convinced that was going to be the worst
football player of his career, and then he very quickly
did it again in Week two on home game against
(10:51):
the Jets. I witnessed Bears fans watching their new first
overall picket quarterback throwing for less than one hundred yards
and basically get bailed out by how stupid the Titans
were in that particular game, with a punt blocked and
a Will Levis interception that literally gave the game away
on one singular play that you can point to and
say that's how they lost. They were just getting ready
for another miserable season, Like there was some hype around
(11:12):
it initially, and then when they watched it and they
saw their quarterback running for his life behind an offensive
line constructed by Ryan Poles, that was god awful. And
I know that they have put in a ton of
work this offseason, or at least they have made a
bunch of moves. We'll see if those moves come to
fruition to try and protect the franchise, the literal franchise.
(11:32):
I just witnessed how miserable this person recently made Bears
fans by his inability to construct a competent roster, and
yet with two years left on his deal, we're talking
about him getting an extension when absolutely it's like one
of those things I hate doing internet meme on the
radio type of stuff, but like it's when you see
those tweets and it says, you know, no one colon right,
(11:56):
nobody's talking, nobody's speaking, nobody has uttered a thought into
the universe. And then all of a sudden, followed up
by the Chicago Bears give Ryan Poles multi year extension
based on what nobody asked for this. They surely they
aren't asking for this. I don't I don't get it.
I just I simply do not get it. This is
(12:16):
how bad teams stay bad.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
And this is the constant conversation we have. What do
you do when the favorite your favorite team is owned
by somebody run by somebody day in and day out.
Operationally handled by somebody that is incompetent at that job.
That is the like everybody wants to yell about, you know,
the issues of the league, or yell at Roger Goodell,
(12:39):
or yell at their favorite team's GM or their favorite
team's coach and their favorite team's quarterback. But what do
you do when edit's very core, all the way down
to the real bottom of the issue is your favorite
team is owned by a bunch of people that are
incompetent and incapable of actually owning a football team or
a basketball team or hockey like that is where you
lose your hope. All right, We're gonna keep breaking it down.
(13:00):

Speaker 2 (14:36):
I feel like it's important for me to say on
the back end of that. Normally I don't feel shame
about anything that I say in front of a microphone,
But given that I do reside in the southeastern part
of this country, and that I just blatantly attacked the
southeastern part of this country for general cases of Obi City,
that's something that I feel like I need to get
(14:58):
in front of earth.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
By the way, Sorry, Mary, Yeah, Like Mary has this
this concept of Buck as being a super nice guy
that the end fat slide in there was about the
most accurate Buck Rising representation ever. I'm just saying it's
a fool, but I see you.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
I see you because even Coral or come from oh
because Fourth of July brings out the fatties. Any any
any holiday, any holiday that resolves or revolves rather around
the eating of hot dogs. You know that there's probably don't.
Speaker 6 (15:31):
You just apologize and then doubled down on no, I
can't I.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Feel like I have of you. I mean no, I
just I just generally don't like being around sweaty, large people.
I feel like that's a common a common, a common thing,
Like do the two of you enjoy those kind of things?
Speaker 1 (15:49):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (15:50):
I mean, I didn't really cross my mind.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
You know, it's the first thing I think about. Don't
touch me.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Yeah, you don't live in the South. I'm just saying
you live in the South long enough, and you know
it's I won't say who, but I did work. I
was on tour once. It was not an act I
was playing with, but I was on tour once. That
always called meet and greets and coaching music weigh in.
I'm just saying that was a real thing, always called
away in.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
Well, this is you know when the when the Biggest
Loser was Is the Biggest Loser still on air that
television show? Surely not at this point in time, But anyway,
they would come to this part of the country often
to audition candidates for the Biggest Loser, and you know,
sure enough they'd find somebody probably witnessing a Fourth of
July celebration eating a hot dog. This is Fox Sports
dain and then we just keep going. No, I'm not
(16:33):
gonna apologize. I just I feel like I feel like
I you know, I just I generally feel like I
have to occasionally apologize for some of my behavior, but
I just want to make sure that people know I'm
going to continue to do it. It's just on that
particular instance. This is Fox Sports Radio, by the way,
he's Jason fitz On.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Everybody that Hello Rising.
Speaker 2 (16:55):
Yes at Buck Rising is where you can go at
Jason fitz at Fox Sports Radio. We got I and
Mary holding it down in Los Angeles and Fitzie was
getting ready to tell us about Kirk Cousins and why
he does not believe that the current Falcons backup quarterback
is going anywhere. But before we do that, I know
you have some thoughts on the ongoing WWE SmackDown event
(17:18):
that's going on in Atlanta right now. I went to
WWE for the first time last night, Fitsie, and for
all the things that I just said about a certain
segment of the population that I was very much in
the middle of last night, respectfully, with all the wrestling fans,
I had the time of my life. I was not
expecting to enjoy that as much as I did. It
was a delightful live event. I don't think I didn't
(17:41):
really appreciate how athletic professional wrestlers actually are until you
see that up close and in person. And we were
sitting fifth row hard camera site, I believe it is
what they call it last night at bridge Stone Arena
here in downtown Nashville, and it was a great deal
of fun. But you have a personal connection with an
ongoing match right now that's also featuring one of my friends.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
Yeah, so and this is wild. Like so Buck, I'll
take you back in time a right, Let's go back
into the time machine of the childhood of one Jason Fitz.
But this is not therapy.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
For once, when I was a kid, Saturday Night's main.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Event was a really big deal. So my parents are
big Saturday Night Live fans, so am I. It's ingrained
in part of my culture.
Speaker 2 (18:19):
It's one of my.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Part of my being. Saturday Night Live is huge. But
then every once in a while, Saturday Night Live would
be preempted and instead you would get Saturday Night's main event,
and it'd be one of the rare.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
Times where you would see like Macho Man in Hall
COVID and oother.
Speaker 1 (18:33):
People actually wrestle, Like back when I was a kid
on Saturdays on the weekends, they just basically talk to
each other and then rarely wrestled. But Saturday Night's main
event was a big deal, So what you saw last
night was sort of the precursor to what was happening tonight. Peacock.
NBC still does the occasional Saturday Night's main event, so
they bring it in tonight. And the opening match had
(18:54):
your friend Jelly Roll, who as they just went to commercial,
was being rolled out of the ring after just being
a night elated. So Jelly Roll took a big old
je Jelly Roll was at least at least on camera,
he was knocked him out, you know. So Jelly rolla
took one a good buddy of yours. But I want
to give a shoutout, like I've talked a lot. I
know it's obnoxious, Like, guys, I realized I talk a
(19:14):
lot about my fitness journey. It's about it's almost as
bad at this point as somebody that's gluten free that
has to tell you they're gluten.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Very vegan, like you're not really vegan, like unless you
tell everybody you're.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
Vegan quickly before you continue on. Should this also? I
leave it up to Ian the independent arbiter arbiter of
these things. Should every time fits He mentions his fitness journey.
Should that also be a fine before we get to
the thing that we're actually going to find him for
later in the show.
Speaker 7 (19:39):
I'm gonna say yes, and we'll also be blowing a
whistle whenever there's a fine.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
So hello, I'm just gonna let you know when I down,
you can throw the fine at me and dollar bill
for him, because when I get abs, I'm never wearing
a shirt again. I've worked hard for it. But the
guy that really has changed my life over the course
of last year is a Nashville guy named Jeff Black.
Fine Jeff Jeff Jeff. No, it's not a fine. Jeff
is famous. Jeff Jeff is amazing. So he's the guy
(20:10):
that has taught me everything and and really helped change
my entire life. But what's wild is that Drew McIntyre
the whistles.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Drew McIntyre just stepped in the ring after taking a
hiatus from w w E, and he did a big
interview a couple of days ago about how this is
the first time in his life that he's hired somebody
from the outside. He's always been able to eat whatever
he wants and do whatever he wants, but he hired
somebody to help figure everything out, like food, workout, flexibility, meditation,
all of them. Like just look at everything, rip it
(20:40):
apart and rebuild it. And uh, we just got to
see the first time back of the ring. And the
person that has done that for him is my buddy Jeff.
And I'm telling you, like I've seen a lot of
Drew McIntyre. I've never seen Drew look better than he
did in this match. Like it's it's pretty incredible. So
to see somebody have that that, Like I just want
to give little shine to somebody behind the scenes. Buck,
but you know he's doing the work and that's Jeff.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
And it's a fine. I don't I don't make the rules, but.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
You do make the rules.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
This arbitrary fine rule you And I'm a sovereign nation.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
You can't find me? That's like that? That can I
can I be that? I don't respect yourself? That actually
right there?
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Got a sovereign nation.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
Oh but can I tell you how often I just
go down the Twitter rabbit hole? Like everybody doom scrolls.
My doom scroll is all bodycam footage and people just
can try and give it to cop.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
They're a sovereign nation. Like who told somebody this ever works?
Speaker 1 (21:28):
I get like this is this is constant, like every
time somebody gets pulled over there, like I do not
acknowledge your traffick lows I'm a sovereign nation. I'm like,
you didn't even like whoever's saying that probably got like
a D minus in social studies in high school, and
now they think they've figured out a way to just
like get one over on the entire government. I don't
know how this works, Bob.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
The follow ups by the cops should be to ask
them to spell sovereign.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
I feel I feel so seen there because I had
to use voice text when I text you sovereign nation earlier.
I've just okay, we'll get into Kirk Cousins, but first
let's get to Steve Disager to get an update on
every day. I mean, I'll keep the world updated on
Saturday Night's made event, but we'll let Steve do the
actual work.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
It's professional.
Speaker 8 (22:10):
We do have Fox TV carrying the MLB All Star
Game on Tuesday night, and the starting pitchers for it
have been named by MLB this evening. It is Tarek
Scooble of Detroit, the reigning Cy Young winner for the
American League, against Paul Skenes, right hander from the Pirates,
reigning NL Rookie of the Year. Those two were each
first time All Stars last season, and Skens did start
(22:31):
for the EDL last year and pitched a scoreless inning
again Tuesday night on Fox TV from Atlanta. By the way,
with Schooble as a starter, that makes four Detroit All
Stars starters next week, also Hobby Bias, Riley Green, Glei
Bar Torres that ties that franchises most All Stars starters
in history.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
The Cubs were winners.
Speaker 6 (22:51):
Over the Yankees five to two in New York.
Speaker 8 (22:53):
Aaron Judge did homer career home run number three fifty,
but Max Freed took the loss. Late win for Milwaukee,
then once in a row six to five, the final
over Washington. Seattle was a fifteen to seven winner at Detroit,
beating Casey miz Who's nine to three. Minnesota got Byron
Buxton's hitting for the cycle in a win twelve four
over the Pirates, who have lost eight in a row.
(23:14):
Atlanta seven six winners at Saint Louis, beating closer Ryan
Helsley Shoeyo Tani started for the Dodgers on the mound
three scoreless to one. Dodgers win at San Francisco. Victories
for Cincinnati and Miami. Mets won three to one at
Kansas City. Edwin Diaz the save. Cleveland and Boston with
wins for the Red Sox. That's nine straight victories. There
are a couple games on Fox TV right now, depending
(23:36):
on your region. Houston hosting Texas at game one to
one in the top of the fourth Jose al Tuve
with the first inning home run off Rangers starter Jacob
de Grom. At San Diego, it's the Padres three to
two over the Phillies in the bottom of the third inning.
Two late games coming up in a bit. Eight games
at the NBA Las Vegas Summer League, and the Spurs
beat the Mavericks today seventy six sixty nine, but Cooper
(23:58):
Flag for Dallas had thirty one points out of the
sixty nine WNBA wins for Las Vegas and Chicago. At
the Women's Euros, it was Sweden for to one over Germany.
Each team had been two to ohero in the soccer
tournament so far. Wimbled his men's final is Sunday at
the women's Finally it was over quickly today Vegas Fiontec
six Love six Love over Amanda and Asimova of the
(24:20):
US Indy Cars at Iowa this weekend with races on
Fox TV Saturday and Sunday. Today's winner Pato Award Back
to you.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
He's buck Rising. I'm Jason Fitzbucket Fitz taking over not
Saturday Nights made event. We're taking over Fox Sports Saturday,
Fox Sports Radio. Having a good time. And you get
to find also, you know you every time you mentioned
jelly roll, you gonna find is can we can we
do it that way? Like all I was doing is
human precent Okay, Okay, that's what things are gonna want.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
I love that the two of them are on my side,
which is they should not align themselves with me. You
are infinitely nicer and more or generous, and you do
you have your alarm set to go off every time
towards the end of the show when you disingenuously make
sure that to thank all of the people doing the
(25:11):
very very difficult work back there in Los Angeles. It's
very very hollow. It's just it comes across that way anyway,
But I love that they have a line.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
At the same at the same.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
I don't Night and Mary, I don't believe I've mentioned
him once. I believe that has come from the other side.
Speaker 4 (25:26):
And why is because he said he's a sovereign nation
and then can't and then admit that he can't spell
sovereign correct.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
I mean, of course I can't spell sovereign. My god,
I'm pretty smart. I mean, look, at least I'm honest
about where I am with this. I'm just saying, like
every time your buddy Jelly Roll introduces the band at
the same time in the show every night, does that
make it disingenuous that he's introducing the band? Okay, I agree,
(25:54):
these these fines will not stand. You know, Kirk Cousins
can pay all my fines. That's a fact that he
can pay all my fines over and over and over again.
But the funny thing is Quarterback is back out for Netflix.
And I'm not sure who was clamoring for Kirk Cousins
to be a part of this again. Like, I mean,
I think we all got right, Like we got enough
vanilla ice cream last year. I'm not sure sure we
(26:16):
needed more of it. Like this is just vanilla bean
instead of vanilla. But the more I watched this and
I saw everybody just blown up. Oh what a great
teammate Kirk Cousins was because he took the time to
call Michael Pennick Junior when Penick Junior was getting the
job and just you know, past the torch blah blah
blah blah blah. Who cares? I mean right now today
is we're going into the Falcons season. I just I
(26:37):
keep thinking that we are trying so desperately buck to
make this like some weird thing, and this is really simple.
The Atlanta Falcons quarterback situation is simple. Michael Pennick Junior
has only thrown for about seven hundred and fifty yards
so far as a professional quarterback. They have no idea
if that's really gonna last through the season. They've already
paid Kirk Cousins a boatload of guaranteed money that they
(26:59):
can't get back. There is absolutely no benefit to the
Atlanta Falcons for getting rid of Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
At any point, Pennix could get hurt. Pennix could come.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Out and turn out to be a flash in the pan.
They could also send kirk Cousins somewhere else where, he
suddenly the light goes back on and he's great again.
All of these things like, no, there is no reward,
it's only risk, and there is no reason for the
Falcons to take risks. So as much as people sit
here and say, well they don't want the locker room
problem with it, there's never been an indication that Kirk
(27:30):
Cousins is a locker room problem. A but B even
if he is, if I'm Arthur Blank, the owner of
the Falcons, I tell him to sit down, shut up
in color in his very expensive books that he can
buy with all the guaranteed money I give him. I
don't give a damn about what his attitude towards me
in the backup is. He's going to be a quarterback
in that room.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
I went at kirk Cousins pretty hard earlier this week
because I just think it comes off as whiny. Every
time he talks about this. He's asked about it quite
a bit. He's very comfortable offering his opinion on this situation,
and he and he does well to preface, and I
believe it to be genuine when he says this, that
he understands how the league works, and the NFL the
(28:08):
not for long thing. We've all talked about it a
million times over that cliche and Kirk Cousins lost his
job to a quarterback that was drafted with the eighth
overall pick. These things are very natural. What is seen
makes it a little bit more difficult to wrap your
head around. Is like you mentioned the amount of guaranteed
money that the Falcons paid him prior to drafting Michael
Pennix with the eighth overall pick. Somebody called into the
(28:29):
local show Fitzie and asked, me, all right, say you're
hosting your own radio show. You're and I do. It's
got my name on it, and I get to be
the star of the show, like all the things that
a clout monster like me enjoys. But at some point
the radio station then decided, Okay, we think you'd be
better if we took you out of the driver's seat
(28:50):
and we put somebody else in the show to drive
the show for you, but you still get your money.
Would you be okay with that? And I thought that
I would be able to handle something like that. Nobody
else that works on my show thought that I would
be able to handle something like that in stride. It
humanized the kirk Cousins things a little bit because we
all have an example that we could relate that to.
(29:12):
He is not going to be He's not going to
go anywhere. For all the reasons that you just articulate,
the Falcons want stability in their quarterback room and that
includes kirk Cousins. They want to be able to make
a push for a division that's very winnable, and the
Bucks have been able to handle it. Basically, I think
haven't They won the division every year that Todd Bowles
(29:33):
has been the coach, which is kind of crazy to
think about. And it's not been the toughest of competition,
right Nobody thinks it is of the NFC South as
world beaters. So for all the reasons that you just
correctly articulated, kirk Cousins shouldn't be on another roster, no
matter what the offer is around the trade deadline time,
because somebody's going to get hurt, right, somebody's going to
get hurt. A quarterback's going to get hurt, A team's
going to come sniffing around. Kirk Cousins is viable enough,
(29:56):
depending on the level of contender, that this football team.
Hypothetical football team that experiences a quarterback injury is and
teams are going to come sniffing around kirk Cousins. Teams
have sniffed around kirk Cousin. Now, whether or not the
price is enough to make the Falcons feel like they
need to make a move here is an entirely different thing.
But I just every time I hear him speak, specifically FITZI,
(30:17):
he just sounds like he is he's having regrets about
taking the money because he seems to want to go
back to Minnesota. I know he hasn't said as much publicly,
and I know his wife's from Atlanta, and I'm sure
that had a big part of the reason to do
with the fact that his last big contract ended up
being in Atlanta. The whole thing just seems like, all right,
(30:42):
you can complain about this publicly as much as you want,
and you can offer whatever context it is that is
completely humanizing and completely fair, But you still have a
bunch of money to go home and be sad about
it at the end of the day, no matter how
much you might regret your decisions. And the Falcons, if
anybody should have buyer's remorse, it's the Falcons, because they
(31:03):
are the ones who paid him all this guaranteed money
just to take the quarterback, the first round quarterback eighth overall,
in the same offseason that they paid Kirk Cousins. So
if anybody would be complaining about the situation, it should
probably be the.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
Falcons, I mean, and that's all the more reason that
I don't think Arthur Blank's gonna just just suddenly wash
away all the guaranteed money he's paid. I mean, very
specifically to your question that your guys asked you. I
was on morning radio on ESPN five days a week,
and all of a sudden, I got a call one
day and it was like, Okay, we're taking you off
that show, and now we're putting you on a midday
(31:35):
show reacting to Steven aclips that I had no interest
in doing, but that's what I was told to do.
So then I went to a mid day show reacting
to Steven Aclipse and then what do you know, management changed,
and all of a sudden, they're like, hey, we're taking
you off the midday show that has your name on it,
and now you're back at night radio where you were
two years ago. And all of a sudden, I was
on night radio and I had no say in that,
and then all of a sudden I went back to
(31:56):
midday radio. Like I worked at a place where where
you're as behind the curtains for most people entertainment contracts
in places like ESPN. If you sit there and say,
oh my god, ESPN should fire this person, I just
want you to know. Contracts are fully guaranteed, so once
you sign a contract, you're getting every time of it.
People don't get fired at ESPN. It doesn't work that way.
They get bought out basically, so they still get their money.
(32:19):
I lived all of the things your guys are describing,
And what did I do every time I went to
damn work? Because you're paid guaranteed some to work for
a company with no guarantee that you're going to be
in the same time slot one day that you are
the next, that's just real to the business that were
in hell. I was on a digital show that was
out with Game Day for a year amazing. We did
(32:40):
electric work and I was taking off that show for
the next year. Not for anything I did. They just
put me on a different show. Did I want to
go to a different show? No, But at the end
of the day. They pay you a guaranteed some not
to have a guaranteed role. They pay you a guaranteed
some to be part of an organization. That's what an
entertainment contract is, right to me, I sit here, look
(33:01):
at Kirk Cousins, like to answer the question for the
people on your show, people were guaranteed money, do this
all the time. Once you were paid. The only thing
you got is what you were guaranteed to get the
day you got paid. Everything else, and it's it's you
weren't it or you don't. It's pretty simple on that.
My sympathy for Kirk Cousins is dried up by the
amount of money he's made. It's simple, yeah, And I
(33:24):
mean I don't.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
I do struggle with some elements of that because money
money doesn't guarantee happiness, as many people in their lives
have found out, and it doesn't solve all the issues,
all the unhappiness that may come from it. But it's
incumbent upon you to figure out the best solution. To
your point, you are a hard worker. You figured it
(33:46):
out even though the circumstance was not ideal for you.
You understood what the day and I'm not doing this
to you know, blow smoke up you, But you understand
what I'm saying, Like people in these situations do that,
do that in stride. I don't understand why kirk Cousins
is having such a difficult time with the go ahead.
What were you gonna say?
Speaker 5 (34:03):
No?
Speaker 1 (34:03):
My My only thing is money doesn't solve anything. But
the reason that athletes press so hard for guaranteed money
is because, and this is what agents and athletes will
always tell you, it's the only guarantee you have. So
you knew the day you signed the guaranteed one hundred
million dollars deal that the only thing you were guaranteed
was that one hundred million dollars, not a starting role.
You were just guaranteed one hundred million. And the thought is,
(34:24):
we're gonna make him guarantee us so much money that
it has to guarantee our role. When that doesn't happen, man,
that's life, all right, He's buck rising. I'm Jason Fitz.
We'll keep breaking it down. Plus, through all of this
conversation that we're having about contracts and contracts and Kirk Cousins,
what about contracts in Lebron and what the Lakers actually
owe their superstar. We'll break it down next. On Fox

I'm Jason Fits hanging out in Connecticut. Two people working
behind the scenes that I don't know at all. I
don't even know what city they're in. See now, I'm
being a bad boy.
Speaker 7 (35:30):
I'm being a revel call entirely to say no on
on your request there for the whistle.
Speaker 1 (35:36):
I'm just saying that, you know, they betrayed me. I've
been I feel Yeah. No, I'm straight up I am
living a straight up HBO like I don't know. I
feel like I'm in Game of Thrones here, Game of
Thrones on my own show. There's a mutiny going on.
I don't know what's happening anymore. I'm sitting here with
Buck trying to be you know, uplifting, and all of
a sudden, I try and I try and say nice
things about, you know, everybody that works behind the scenes,
(35:56):
and I'm told that it's too calculated and not genuine
enough by a smug man that walked in to do
the show by throwing his cape on the ground and
having somebody try and kid like Buck. Buck over here
that's about to order eighteen dollars coffee to get it
door dashed to the studio. The elitist Buck has turned
the entire staff against me.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
It feels so good. What's yeah?
Speaker 5 (36:17):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (36:18):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
I mean player, everybody's on the same team except for one.
It would seem so who's really trying to organize it?
Speaker 6 (36:28):
The nominator, That's what I'm saying, Who's.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
Really trying to organize the mutiny here? What's the line
from Game of Thrones that I so enjoy before we
talk about a Game of Thrones type of atmosphere, with
the Los Angeles Lakers here in a second. You when
you play the Game of Thrones, you either win or
you die, or you die. Yes, Sirce Lanister, well done
in in.
Speaker 1 (36:50):
I only saw like half of one season of the
show that I have I changed the name of it
was this Game of Boops. It was Dungeons and Dragons
with a lot of nudity. That's all that show ever was.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
It's fun.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Seems just seems weird that Dungeons and Dragons with a
ton of nudity became a cultural phenomenon like when I
was a kid.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
I feel like that makes all the sense in the world,
to be honest with it.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
Okay, okay that but that it doesn't like one of
us was alive in the eighties and if you played
like dice like role playing games like Dungeons and Dragons
in the eighties. I hate to be the one to
break this to the world. You were not popular, like
that was not something that was Like Stranger Things has
changed the way we see a whole group of a
whole sub section of kids in the eighties, Like there
were not kids that were walking around me, like willn't
(37:30):
you come over with pre Dungeons and Dragons tonight that
had friends all right, that just wasn't real. So, you know,
it just surprises me a little bit. The Dungeons and
Dragons with you know, a lot of nudity suddenly became
a cultural phenomenon that everyone's into.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
I don't know how many friends Lebron James is gonna
make by exercising a fifty two point six million dollars
player option and then having his buddy Clutch Sports CEO
Rich Paul out here talking to any newsbreaker that will
pay him mind and should pay him mind. Understandably, oh,
that they are not necessarily happy with the situation, even
(38:04):
though they exercise the fifty two point six million dollar
player option to do exactly that for the twenty twenty
five twenty twenty six season. Fifty what's more likely is
Lebron James on the Lakers for the entire upcoming season
or is he playing for another team?
Speaker 1 (38:20):
I still think he's playing for the Lakers, because I
don't see an easy solution to any of this. Like
to your point, if for all the people like, oh,
he wants to go out and win a championship, okay, well,
then don't opt in on that contract. Like if you
just if the only thing that matters is a championship, brother,
then go get you one in Cleveland, or go get
you one, you know, go join Oklahoma City. Like just
(38:42):
at this point, if you're just wanting to put yourself
in the best situation to win a championship, then take
the absolute lightest amount of cash that you can possibly
take and go play somewhere else. I just once you
take the opt in, I think what you think is
going to happen is that you're Lebron and everybody's going
to sort of coward to that. But what the Lakers
are doing now kind of makes sense.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Like I don't have a heart.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
If the Lakers didn't notify you know, Lebron, but they
did notify Luca of a transaction, I don't care, Like
I just I cannot find the space to need to
give a damn about whether or not the Lakers played
the appropriate office politics.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
To try and get themselves in on Lebron the right way.
Speaker 1 (39:22):
It's just who cares well.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
I do think that he is due a certain level
of respect, right because of who he is and everything
that he's accomplished.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
Two million dollars is that's respect.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
It's it's a different version of the Kirk Cousins argument. Right,
that's what the money's for, big boy, if you figure
it out after the fact. But it's it's crazy to
say the fifty two point six million dollars probably doesn't
mean that much to Lebron James, but it kind of
doesn't fits. And especially I just the fact that Rich
Paul went to ESPN immediately to start giving quotes about
(39:56):
what Lebron wants and this, that and the other after
taking their money. He taking their money and then making
these statements. It's just a really really I just don't
think it's a good look.
Speaker 3 (40:06):
Yeah, it's also remember brownis there too.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
The Lakers have done everything they need to. What NBA
story should we be talking about. We'll tell you next
on Fox Sports Radio. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio radios.
Fucking fits on Fox Sports Radio on Fox Sports Saturday.
I'm learning how to talk. Apparently he's Buck rising out
Jason Fitz hanging out with you tonight.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
Buck.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
How much do great players actually lead to big wins?
And this is a complicated question, especially in the NFL,
because all the time we say, well, my team has
a great this, or that my team has a great
tight end, my team has a great wide receiver, my
team has a great running back. But the question is
(40:52):
does any of that really result in the most important thing,
which is winning the Super Bowl. It is a weird
situation to me because while I acknowledge that you need
to have a very good roster to win the Super Bowl,
and while I acknowledge that if you don't have a
quarterback that can at least compete with Patrick Mahomes, which
is very difficult to do, it's going to be difficult
(41:13):
to get to a super Bowl outside of that quarterback position.
I'm not sure that it really matters if you've got
the best of the best at any position. And this
all comes because, you know, ESPN is going through their
list of best positions across the board, the best players
at each position, I should say across the board. And
there was some conversation amongst you know, fans about the
(41:35):
fact that you were just around tight End University and
right now is the golden era for tight ends, Like
it's just it's unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
I around tight End University.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
I had the chance to interview Kittle, and I've talked
to Kelsey and Laporta and Brock and we talked to
all these guys and just seeing you no, no, no, no,
I think it's important context. It's not it's it's it's
context here. When you ask tight ends in the league
why it's so important that you have a great tight end,
they'll tell you because of all of the different things
that they can do and the different options it gives
you offensively. But I guess my question is like the
(42:07):
if a site, if ESPN wants to turn around and
decide that the best tight end in the NFL is
brock Powers, does that mean anything? Are you really gonna
win games suddenly because you have the best tight end
in the NFL? I don't think you do well.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
I think if the Super Bowl taught us, this most
recent Super Bowl taught us anything, it's that you just
you have to have the best well rounded the most
well rounded team.
Speaker 5 (42:30):
Right.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
The best quarterback in the world is not enough alone
to win a Super Bowl against an overwhelming pass rush
and defensive backs that are going to knock his receivers
off kilter and throw the passing game out of rhythm.
And I think the tight end position is an interesting
case study here. Though, FITZI, because to your point, tight
End You was here in Nashville. I guess that was
just last week with George Kittle, who lives here in
(42:52):
the offseason, and Greg Olsen, the retired tight end. Now
is he's is he calling games actively right?
Speaker 7 (42:59):
No?
Speaker 2 (42:59):
Or is he not doing yes?
Speaker 7 (43:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (43:01):
Okay, he is actively on the number two team.
Speaker 1 (43:03):
He's okay, number two broadcasts, don't.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
I don't get to see the NFL broadcast because I'm
covering games on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
So I's by far the best at what he does
and should be number one. But tom Brady's Tom Brady,
and you know, so that means tom Brady's number one
and a number.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
Two conversation for another day for sure. But Kittle at
this tight end You thing, and this is courtesy of
ESPN's NFL Live, because tight End You has turned into
a big enough thing and now Taylor Swift is playing
pop up shows at Brooklyn Bowl here in Nashville as
a result, because of course, her relationship with Travis Kelsey.
She must really love him, by the way, if she's
willing to show up to the tight end You stuff
(43:39):
at this point. But Kittle was on NFL Live talking
about why he believes that his position shocking to know
one that he would have a slide amount of bias
and has also played at a Super Bowl, so his
words do carry Wait, he's I would argue the most
well rounded tight end going right now in professional football
where Rob Gronkowski used to be that. I think George
(43:59):
Kittle is kind of taken in that mantle. This was
George Kittle on NFL Live at tight End You talking
about the importance of an elite tight end.
Speaker 9 (44:06):
One of my favorite things to look back on is
if you look at the past, like ten Super Bowl winners,
every team has either a Gronk, a Kelsey, Dallas Goddard,
Like you have an elite tight end playing that makes
place for your threattholes.
Speaker 2 (44:18):
Yeah, at the playoffs, super Bowl, you have guys that
make plays.
Speaker 9 (44:21):
And so I just think, guys, saw you know, Gronk
and the Patriots win all these championships, right, you know,
we need to invest a little bit more time in
these tight ends.
Speaker 2 (44:28):
Wait, we get them some more ops.
Speaker 9 (44:29):
So I just think's offenses have seen successive other teams
using tight ends so much, and now're like, oh, we're
gonna try using them too, and now you see all
these tight ends from every team.
Speaker 2 (44:37):
You know, the Ravens have a great tight end room.
Speaker 9 (44:40):
They had what Charlie Colar, Isaiah Likely and Mark Andrew's
like three great tight end and like, so you building
these rooms of the tight ends. Now you go eleven personnel,
twelve personnel, thirteen, twenty two, all these personnels with multiple tight.
Speaker 2 (44:50):
Ends, and that's the best way to play the game.
I was talking to Jordan Matthews. You might remember him
from Vanderbilt FITZI when you were working here locally. He
continues to have an NFL career, but he converted from
wide receiver to tight end. He was a tight end
most recently for the Carolina Panthers. And we were talking
about this on the local show because he had a
Vandy Legend celebrity softball game this weekend that we were
(45:11):
we were promoting. And his point about that not a fine?
Speaker 1 (45:15):
Is that not a fine? You just brought up, Jordan
mett Like, that's not a fine.
Speaker 2 (45:18):
No, I don't hear a whistle? Do you? Wow?
Speaker 7 (45:25):
No?
Speaker 2 (45:26):
What?
Speaker 7 (45:27):
No?
Speaker 1 (45:28):
That's that. Look, there's a reason the coaches have to
sometimes remind the refs that there's okay, I'm just goodd
So you were talking to Jordan Matthews.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
I was talking to him about the diversity of the
position that tight end requires, the diversity of skill set
that the tight end position requires because you have to
know everything in their passing game, You have to know
everything in their run game because you are involved one
of the time on every play. If you're a wide
receiver and you don't want to run block, you can.
You can get away with that in the NFL. Now
(45:57):
you have to be really really good at the other
stuff to be able to be able to get away
with that, otherwise you will not last long on a
professional football roster. But all different kind of body types,
all different kind of specialization tight end is we haven't
really seen. And I think that's why they try to
put the tight end you thing on quarterback lifetime. Specialization
has become a thing with the quarterback position, wide receiver
(46:19):
as well. I think that tight end is one of
these unique pieces that maybe you don't need an elite
tight end to get to the super Bowl, but a
tight end. And I don't think that Dallas Goddard is
the lead. I think George kill is just being kind
there and mentioning him even though he is a good
player at the position and is a Super Bowl champion
(46:41):
with the Eagles and those things, and he does account
for a lot of what they do in both elements
of their offense. I think it can help set you
over the top. I don't think it's quite outright a necessity.
The Bengals famously in the Zach Taylor Brian Callahan, formerly
the current head coach the Titans. He was the OC
in Cincinnati before taking the job here in Nashville. Really
(47:04):
the tight end utilization was not a big part of
their offense, but they got to a Super Bowl. They
have Jamar Chase, they have Joe Burrow, they have they
had a good defense at the time. That defense is
since cratered since the twenty twenty one I guess that
would have been Super Bowl run. So you can find
examples of teams that get to the Super Bowl without
having elite tight end play, or that don't maximize their
(47:25):
tight end utilization within that offense. I just think it
depends on what your what the rest of your skill
group looks like. Like Vegas is weird, right, of course,
brock Bowers is the best player, the best skilled player
in Las Vegas right prior to Ashton Genty playing an
NFL snap, we can agree that Brock Bowers is the
close third to an elite player that that Las Vegas
offense has, and it figures to be better because they've
(47:47):
got legitimate quarterback play now in Gino Smith and Chip
Kelly is somebody who has had success at the NFL
level running an offense. Relax over there. We're not talking
about your no no parts, although we might be execute
a successful offense. Is that words hard? Look all of that?
Speaker 1 (48:06):
You're right to me, there's just a there's a glaring
thing here and fans get worked up about these lists,
like who's at the top. Okay, I watched the Raiders
team a few years ago when Josh Jacobs led the
league in rushing and Max Crosby led the league in
sacks or a second, I don't remember which, and Devanta
Adams had over one thousand yards receiving on a team
that won six games. Right, Like, so I think this
(48:30):
is like Miles Garrett is arguably the best pass rusher
in the NFL. The Cleveland Browns do nothing but loose, Like,
there's a very simple answer here. If you want to
win a lot of football games, and you just want
to guarantee that you're going to win a lot of
football games. Maybe not a super Bowl, but you're always
going to be in position to win the super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
Then you need to have one of the best offensive
lines in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (48:51):
I will say that. I will say that, I'll plant
that flag. You know, the Eagles have one of the
best offensive lines in the NFL. The Lions have one
of the best offensive line in the NFL. Like, if
you truly just everything else can go to You know what,
if you have one of the best offensive lines in
the NFL, you will still find a way to compete.
If you don't, then you're gonna be asking your quarterback
patri Mahomes to be a lifesaver. So I do think
(49:13):
there's value in having If we were doing an offensive
line ranking and you told me that this team had
the best offensive line in the league, then yes, I
think there's value to that. Every other position who cares, like, yeah,
Justin Jefferson might be the best wide receiver in the
NFL this year. Okay, that's cool. Like, I don't believe
that having the best wide receiver in the NFL makes
(49:33):
you a surefire can't miss Super Bowl contender. Like you
can have the best corner in the NFL and your
team still only wins four or five games. Like the
NFL is just different than every other sport in the
sense that having a really great player at one position
kind of doesn't matter. Like you got to have a
really good ross. You gotta have Like it's almost like
the grading on a curve when we were in school, right,
(49:55):
Like you can't have one person that's great and the
rest of it be trash, and you can't have a bunch.
You can't have the opposite. You know, you can't have
any situation. You've got to find the middle ground on
all of this, and if you don't have that, then
your team's just gonna lose as much football games.
Speaker 7 (50:10):
It is.
Speaker 2 (50:12):
I mean, quarterback we assign the most importance too, for
obvious reasons. He's the player that has his hands on
the ball on every play that's not special teams related
or defense related. They are going to impact your football
team as much as any singular position on the field.
But as we talked about throughout the course of this segment,
(50:32):
there's just so much variance in that sports specifically that
I don't think that people can speak as definitively as
Kittle is there now again, he assigns a higher level
of importance to the tight end position because obviously, George
Kittle All Star tight end, somebody who's probably going to
end up I mean, I don't think there's much disputing
that George Kittle will probably be an NFL Hall of
(50:53):
Famer by the time his career is done, regardless of
whether he ends up winning a Super Bowl or not.
But there is so there are so many different things
that can happen on a football field. In fact, I
think it's the least controllable of any of the of
any of the sports outcomes that you can have, because
not only is the ball shaped weird, but you have
so many different moving pieces and parts, and injury is
(51:15):
a one hundred percent factor in any NFL football game.
You have a one hundred percent chance of getting injured,
which could completely derail your team's best chances at having
any kind of success that season, even if you put
together the best version of the roster. If the roster
can't stay healthy, it's more often the team that's dragging
its leg across the finish line at the end of
the year, not the team that started with the best
(51:35):
roster when we put these things together at the end
of training camp in the first week of September. So
I wonder, like, what is Vegas's ceiling specifically because we're
talking about this because of the weekly or rather the
annual poll for lack of a better term, that Jeremy
Faller at ESPN goes about doing with executives, with coaches
(51:58):
and scouts, and he puts together positional ranking. So he
pulls a bunch of people in the NFL, they all
submit their votes and then they accumulate these votes to
put together this list. And brock Bowers, as we mentioned,
was the number one ranked player the most often out
of any other player at his position. The lowest ranking
that brock Bauers got in this year's poll was seven.
(52:19):
Kittle is two there. But Kittle, I mean brock Bauers
is not going to give the Las Vegas Raiders the
best chance at usurping the Kansas City Chiefs, Right, That's
not what's going to be the thing that undermines the
dynasty and all of a sudden has Las Vegas winning
the AFC West. Right, Yet we don't know what brock
(52:39):
Bauers is going to be as an NFL pro like,
we understand the potential, Whereas I think I look at
George Kittle and say, no, he could be a difference
maker in his division given what they have or what
they don't have on this year's roster as far as
influencing the results. So I think it's very, very situationally specific.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
I think having the best player at a position is
like having great icing on a case, Like it's important
if you want to have incredible cake, but it's not
like you're a thousand percent right. Brock Bowers last year,
for point of reference, had an absolutely monster monster year.
There's no two ways to take that. One and ninety
four yards receiving one hundred and twelve catches with the
(53:18):
worst quarterback room in the NFL. He did all of
that almost single handedly last year. That's great. Is that
gonna help you win a Super Bowl? No, it makes
team better. You got to have good players to make
team to win games. You're right that, you know you
look at somebody like Sam Laporta third on this list. Okay,
who cares like that? I guess my biggest thing is
fans get so worked up about where their favorite teams
are represented on this Sam Laporta has a hell of
(53:39):
a lot better chance of helping his team win a
Super Bowl by being one of the best tight ends
in the league. Like, as long as you have one
of those sorts of players, you're gonna be just fine.
We'll keep breaking it down because there's a lot to
what it means for team construction. Plus what should ownership
construction look like in the NFL. One of the most
(54:00):
amos players recently is not going to own an NFL team.
Is that good or bad? We'll break it down. He's
Buck Rising. I'm Jason Fitz. We're hanging out with you
on Fox Sports Radio. He's Buck Rising. I'm Jason Fitz.
It's Fox Sports Radio. I imagine that Buck Rising is
house full of cats that like when he gets home tonight,
(54:22):
they'll put on little cat bibs and they'll await the
little cat food and then Buck will scoop the cat
food out to each of them. And in my mind,
they sit up on an elevated counter, because there's no
way that these cats eat on the floor, and Buck
will give them the treatment that they so rightfully deserve.
And it's probably a mixture of wet and dry food.
It's not as simple as any one thing. No, it
(54:42):
takes twenty minutes to feed Bucks cats. Tell me I'm wrong.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
Cat bibs is crazy. I honestly wish that was true.
Although you want to know what you got most right
about that is they eat real like real food. You
know this. This has become a trend here recently. And
no free ads, but you see a lot of companies
(55:07):
that are advertised advertising the pet owners about feed your
animals real food. They're not supposed to be just like you.
You're not supposed to eat a bunch of processed stuff.
It's gonna make you feel bad and cause you a
bunch of health problems down the road. Same goes for pets.
And you know, I mean some people take that more
seriously than others.
Speaker 1 (55:22):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (55:23):
The cat the cats tonight had mackerel in a little
bit of uh with a little bit of a pumpkin
glaze and chunks of cheese in the mackerel pumpkin blazed food.
I think they ate a better din out of than
I did.
Speaker 1 (55:40):
Did you make this? Did you make the pumpkin glaze?
On the map?
Speaker 2 (55:44):
It comes in a you can you can purchase on
you bought you buy it at the store, and and
it I mean it looks I mean I could it's
human quality food. I could probably have made myself a
plate and enjoyed it with the proper seasoning.
Speaker 1 (55:58):
I and that is that is elect I will say.
The dogs always get like they get when I cook.
They all just sit they sit there and they just
wait for little pieces. But it's always just vegetables right
like like so the amount of times that like green
animel loves any sort of a pepper, any sort of
a pepper or watermelon. So yeah, there's a lot of
I've got like fancy healthy and I don't I don't
(56:19):
have a single dog treat in my house but the
dog the tree. Yeah, like I just have never been.
I'm not a dog treat guy. But they get little
green peppers and they get a little like a little
bit of a like when I make chicken, they'll get
like maybe a little piece of the chicken, and they
get a little watermelon and like you know, so they
get a little fruits and vegetables along the way. That's
so we're both a little bit boosy with our animal treatment.
Speaker 2 (56:42):
The latest that's probably so I think him talking about
how healthy his dogs eat is a way for him
to get around how healthy he eat he eats and
avoid a fine. But I think that should still be
a finablefence.
Speaker 1 (56:54):
Because of the look you were trying to find me
out of my my mind here, I don't know what's happening.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
I'm not trying to You're making it easy, you guys.
Speaker 7 (57:02):
Remember you On the COVID NFL draft, we had the
image of Cliff Kingsbury sitting in his living home, big
empty house. That's what I picture your house as, Buck like,
you're just surrounded by your cats making it is.
Speaker 2 (57:18):
I don't. I don't have as nice a pool as
Cliff does, but same vipes, i'd say. I'd say that's
probably I'd go ahead and give myself.
Speaker 6 (57:25):
A scaled down version. But that's just what I picture
your life from what you do.
Speaker 2 (57:31):
We we we you know, we enjoy. We enjoy the
finer things in life. Nothing wrong with it. Meanwhile, I
was I remember that draft very well because I remember
seeing Cliff's incredible scenery of his home in Arizona at
the time when he was the head coach of the Cardinals.
During the COVID draft, and then I remember having to
ask my Bible on a zoom call if his son
was pooping in the background of his shot. If you
(57:54):
guys remember that correctly.
Speaker 1 (57:55):
That's there's a different different lifestyles. Wait, does Buck Rising
have a pool like it might?
Speaker 2 (58:00):
Like?
Speaker 1 (58:03):
Oh, okay, that makes more sense. Okay, that makes more sense.
I just like the Welshley Arms signed better be up there.
That's an SNL reference for I'm just I'm imagining that's
where Buck Rising goes. Okay, I gotta get to Eli
Manning here because I'm curious how you feel about this.
Eli Manning has said no to an ownership stake in
the New York Football Giants, and the reasoning being it's
(58:24):
too expensive. Now, it's amazing for an athlete to have
to say it's too expensive, because it shows you, you know,
every time there's a strike and we sit here and
say the players should hold out against the owners, remind
you that Eli Manning has to look at and say,
I can't really afford to buy into the NFL. But
I do think that part of me likes this. That
there's just it's so hard we assume that somebody that
(58:47):
has had tremendous success in the league is suddenly going
to be tremendous in an ownership capacity. And I obviously
a lot of conversations happened about Brady with the Raiders
over the course of the last few months, but even
go back to you know, John Elway and Elev Roles
with the Broncos, and I just sometimes we see these
legends and I think, Buck, we're just we assume that
that legend goes into a new role and it makes
them great at everything. But like you said earlier, just
(59:10):
because somebody has been so good at something that they
can own an NFL team doesn't necessarily mean they're going
to be a great NFL owner. And you know, Michael
Jordan's a great, living, eating, breathing example of man. I
don't really want the tainted legacy of bad ownership coming
on to some players.
Speaker 3 (59:24):
I kind of like to keep a separation here.
Speaker 2 (59:26):
Oh my god, is there a better example of this
than Magic Johnson the Lakers. I mean that that is
as public an example of that and Magic, you know,
Magic is an incredible human being who does a lot
of great work and has a lot of high level
business acumen in a variety of different things. But that
doesn't necessarily equip him for all the different things that
he was asked to do when he was in an
(59:47):
advisory role or an executive role with the Lakers. Did
you see Eli's quote on this with CNBC? I guess
CNBC sport to be specific. Basically, it's too expensive for me.
The Giants are valued for what it's worth. It's seven
point fi three billion dollars quote. These numbers are getting
very big. A one percent stake of something valued at
ten billion dollars, it turns into a very big number.
(01:00:08):
I love the Giants, and I think it's deserving of
that valuation. There will be people that want to go
for it, and I was kind of along for the ride.
I one, do you want to spend that much money
for a product that sucks?
Speaker 7 (01:00:22):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
I know that they're making money hand over fist in
the NFL, and that the valuations of these things are
not going down, so it stands to be a reasonable
investment whether or not the product on the field is good.
But I mean, it's it's not just Eli Manning that's
getting priced out. NFL ownership groups probably if they had
to buy back their teams, if one of these mom
(01:00:43):
and pop type situations. You are a Raiders fan, Mark Davis,
Amy Adams trunk here in Nashville with the Tennessee Titans,
even though she doesn't, I mean, she has a place here,
but she lives primarily in Houston, where the organization was
founded as the Houston Oilers. Local ownerships that were either
you know, in on the ground level or had it
(01:01:04):
passed down through family ties. Private equity is coming into
these things for a reason. The league is opening the
door to private equity for a reason. These things are
too expensive for even the I hesitate to say your
everyday average billionaire, but they are becoming too expensive for
your everyday average billionaire. And I understand that ELI would
(01:01:27):
not be would not be a controlling owner, or would
not have sole ownership of the New York Giants for
seven point three billion dollars or whatever it would end
up costing if the mayor of family sold them. But
the cost of these things, it's why I'm I'm so
curious as to what's going to happen with the NFL
salary cap in the future. Where the television dollars, I mean,
(01:01:47):
there's no sign that that's slowing down anytime soon, and
the price of things just continues to go up. Owners
are arguing that the players are already getting too much
of the money or quarterbacks like Dak Prescott are making.
And I know it's not fully guaranteed money, but average
annual value on the contract on his contract of sixty
million ballpark a year, what is that going to look
like in the future, because there's no indication that the
(01:02:09):
prices are going down on these things.
Speaker 1 (01:02:12):
Yeah, and that's where you know, one, look, I got
a staggering number. I have a staggering number to give
everybody that One NFL reporter told me flat out he
thinks the salary cap is going to hit it the
next TV deal. It will blow your mind. We're gonna
do that. But first we'll let Steve Disager get us
caught up on what is going on right now across
(01:02:33):
the world of sports.
Speaker 8 (01:02:34):
We'll get to the baseball in a minute, but first off,
the NBA Summer League in Vegas has eight games again
on the schedule, and today the Spurs beat the Mavericks
seventy six to sixty nine. Cooper Flag for Dallas thirty
one points. Ryan Nemhard one of ten shooting from the floor,
nicolea top at ten assists Oklahoma City over the Pacers easily.
Guard Cole Anthony has reportedly been bought out by Memphis.
(01:02:56):
He plans to sign with Milwaukee. Just two WNBA Gamesicago,
which was six and thirteen beat Minnesota eighty seven eighty one,
Angel rees nineteen points, eleven rebounds. Las Vegas a one
oh four to one oh two victory against Golden State
and expansion team Asia Wilson back from a wrist injury
at thirty four points. By the way, Caitlin Clark of
Indiana returned from injury on Wednesday. She's one of the
(01:03:18):
All Star Game captains, and the All Star Game for
the WNBA is in Indianapolis next Saturday. At the Women's
Eurosweden for to one over Germany. Each team had been
two and oh so far. Sunday on FS one England
against Wales. The FIFA Club World Cup Final is Sunday
in New Jersey Chelsea against Paris and Germain and Egos.
Fiantek easily won the Wimbledon Women's Final today six love,
(01:03:41):
six love against American Amanda Anisimova. It took just fifty
seven minutes. Siontek is now six and oh in major finals,
including four at the French Open. Pato O Ward took
today's IndyCar event. IndyCars at Iowa this weekend. Saturday and
Sunday races on Fox TV. Rory McElroy moved in to
a tie for first at the Scottish Open. He'd been
(01:04:02):
four shots back after round two. Dustin Johnson his four
shots behind. As the Live Golf Tournaments is taking place
in Spain this weekend, Taylor Gooch the leader. Former Cardinals
Pro Bowl tackle Lewis Sharp has died at the age
of sixty five. Brown's second round running back quin Shawn
Judkins was arrested for domestic violence. He played for Old
Miss and Ohio State to Major League Baseball. The All
(01:04:24):
Star Game is on Fox TV Tuesday night. The starting
pitchers have been named. In the American League. It's the
reigning Cy Young Award winner from Detroit, Trek Scoobel against
National League starter from last year, the Pirates, Paul Skenes,
who was in l Rookie of the Year last year.
A couple games on Fox TV right now, depending on
your region. It's now Houston three to one over the
Texas Rangers in the bottom of the seven. Jacob de
(01:04:47):
Grom allowed the first two runs and he has six
innings of work for Texas eight strikeouts. Those were two
solo homers he allowed from bervald has ten strikeouts for Houston,
six innings of work nowhere and druns allowed.
Speaker 2 (01:04:59):
The Phillies and.
Speaker 8 (01:05:00):
Padres are now tied four to four. In the top
of the seventh at Minnesota, Byron Buxton hit for the
Cycle twins twelve four over the Pirates. Pittsburgh has lost
eight in a row. Milwaukee won at six straight six'
five Against. Washington The cubs won five to two at The.
Yankees Aaron judge did homer career home run number three point.
Fifty The cubs are first in THE Nl, central still
(01:05:21):
a game over The. Brewers The mets were winners three
to one At Kansas, city And boston won its ninth
straight game one nothing Over Tampa bay behind winning Pitcher Garrett.
Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
Crochet back to, you.
Speaker 1 (01:05:33):

Speaker 2 (01:05:59):
Screen.
Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
Right, so you were just talking about ownership in THE nfl,
book and this is where it gets crazy because people
see numbers and right now you, know the easy narratives, are,
well you have your, plate pay your, quarterback you can't.
WIN i will die on this ill. CONSTANTLY i HAD
espn WHEN i worked, there run the numbers and stats an,
info and there's actually no empirical data that proves that
you can't. Win you can get to a Super. Bowl
(01:06:21):
it's about an even split on the number of quarterbacks
that have been to a Super bowl on a cheap
deal versus quarterbacks that have been to a Super bowl
on an expensive. Deal it's just a narrative that's been
Absolutely it's like when you're you believe that your cousin
went TO mit and you find out later that they never.
Did that is this? Now so sweeping, narrative like it is.
Speaker 2 (01:06:38):
Not like a very specific.
Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
Example i'm an old, Man, like, okay when WHEN i
before the, internet when somebody be, LIKE i have a,
girlfriend she lives in the town, over and like olly
thought that that was? True like that was that was?
Real that's what, this that's what this. Is, well you
can't win with the, young like or with a quarterback
once you pay THERE'S i won't bore everybody with all
of the, stats but the stats are out. There but
(01:07:01):
the other thing THAT i think people need to know
buck AND i was talking to ONE nfl reporter about
this a few weeks, ago the league will opt out
in all estimation of the current media deal after the
twenty twenty nine, seasons so in four more. Years and
they're going to do that because they have more revenue
streams with streaming companies and they just keep making more,
money which means they're going to renegotiate all of their.
Deals the internal expectation within the league from many people
(01:07:24):
is that the salary cap at that point will jump
well over five hundred million. Dollars as it. Sits right,
now the salary cap is two hundred and ninety three
million dollars this. Year the expectation is after the NEXT
tv deal in four years it will jump to over
five hundred.
Speaker 3 (01:07:39):
Million some think it will more than double and get
into the.
Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
Sixes so when everybody sits here and just looks at these,
numbers like what you're seeing right now IN nba, numbers
if we're going to live in a world where chet
holmreun gets two hundred and fifty million, dollars, like guess
what that world is coming for THE nfl, Too like
we are going to see.
Speaker 3 (01:07:57):
Astrok we're going to see hundred million dollar quarterbacks the
norm in just a few. Years and if you're doing,
that the people that own these organizations are gonna have
to have more money because the complications of having to
put money in escrow in all of these. Things when
you sign, somebody you have to actually then that day
put the guaranteed money into.
Speaker 1 (01:08:17):
A special, Account like that's a rule that they. Have
so you're going to run out of owners that have
the available cash to suddenly put out billions of dollars
all of the time for guaranteed.
Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
Money so in a situation like, that and that's that's
the first Time i've ever heard that kind of a.
Figure But i'm not in the business of sticker shock
anymore when it comes to comes to professional, sports BECAUSE
i understand that these things are one of the most
valuable commodities that a television network or a streaming service
(01:08:49):
can have because of the guaranteed, audience guaranteed live audiences
that come with it in the advertising dollars that are
associated with. That SO i guess the question would, become
would they then pivot in THE nfl to capping a
percentage of the cap on? Positions you know What i'm, Saying,
(01:09:10):
like if you have a quarterback that's coming up and
you are not in the business of paying that, quarterback
let's just say three hundred million, dollars even if it's
not a fully guaranteed. Contract would the response by the
league and buy ownership to make sure that these contracts
can't go crazy to specific to the most important positions
(01:09:33):
where wide receivers are making thirty, five defensive tackles are
starting to make ballpark twenty five into the thirties at
the very very height of the. Position, right we're talking
top one percent of the one percent of athletes that
earn at an elite. LEVEL i just think that they
would have to then devise a way to cap the
(01:09:56):
percentage that you can spend on an individual position to
make sure that the money does not go absolutely. Crazy,
NOW i think The union would obviously push back on
that because of one position is more valuable than the,
other and It's america's most popular, sport and they're MAKING
x amount of dollars on the quarterback and the quarterback
of the, marquee the quarterbacks of the marquee thing that
(01:10:18):
people are coming to see more often than not than
they should be able to make whatever the market says
that they make based on what the television dollars are
associated with that, league with that, team and with that specific.
Player BUT i hate to say THAT i understand why
ownership would have to do something like. That but as
a sports, fan we've talked about. This as a sports,
(01:10:40):
FAN i am not pro player empowerment because it does
not benefit the well being of the team as a.
Whole more often than, not when these situations. Arise as a,
person as somebody who is an employee for multiple, COMPANIES
i am obviously for that BECAUSE i want individuals to
make as much money as they should make should make
(01:11:03):
is the important qualifier, there because these, guys these guys
are the whole reason that people turn on the television
Or netflix On Christmas day or whatever the case may
be to watch this and you, know play fantasy football
and monetize their, name image and likeness In madden or
THE Ea College Football game or whatever level you want
to take a look at this. At BUT i almost
(01:11:26):
think that that guarantees that we are heading in a,
direction AND i WOULD i would be interested to follow
up with some league executives about, this just to kind
of understand what the thought process would be if that
situation were to come to, fruition and it sounds like
it's more likely than. Not don't, KNOW i don't understand
how they couldn't, fight or how they wouldn't try and.
Accomplish whether or not they'd get it done is a different,
(01:11:46):
Question BUT i don't know understand how they wouldn't try
to push for capping position groups at a percentage of
the individual salary.
Speaker 1 (01:11:52):
Cap but what's hysterical to me is that people yell and,
scream oh my, god these athletes are so over it's
gonna be yelled and screamed over and over. Again and
the funny thing is the payment to the athletes is
based on a percentage of the overall revenue. Earned, Right
SO i will remind everybody that if.
Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
Owners are, Overpaid, right if the owners are, overpaid.
Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
There are fifty three people on AN nfl, roster they're
gonna split fifty percent of the money that comes. In
so they're gonna split their six hundred million dollars in this,
process and everybody's gonna, say how good you're paying them
that much without acknowledging that the other six hundred million
dollars because these fifty percent is going to an ownership.
Group and that's why you're gonna see more and more
private equity come into this because when you start talking
(01:12:37):
about billions of dollars being just like if six hundred
million dollars of profit is being just handed to each
of the owners for thirty two, owners you're talking about
like they are parts of the world where that's higher
than THE. Gnp like you are talking about mind blowing.
Numbers and that's why you're gonna see in less and
less individuals and more and more companies running THE. Nfl
(01:12:59):
and when those company these run their, teams how are
they gonna feel about, controversy particularly In, cleveland because guess,
what it's a day that ends in, why which means
we have more controversy for The. Browns we'll tell you
what it is. Next He's Buck. Rising I'm jason fitzwer
hanging out with. You On Fox Sports. Radio He's Buck.
Rising I'm jason fitz hanging out with. You it's a
(01:13:19):
Bucking fits takeover On Fox Sports saturday On Fox Sports.
Radio The Cleveland browns are in the news for all
the wrong. REASONS i JUST i feel like this is
just to just record, this just constantly say The Cleveland
browns are in the news for all the wrong. Reasons
brown's rookie running back Quin Shawn jenkins has been arrested
(01:13:40):
In florida for a battery and domestic violence. Charge so
now somebody that was obviously a highly touted draft, player
somebody that The browns decided to bring into the fold
and is a big part of the. Offense, like if
you're a fantasy football, guy you've been looking at Quin
Shawn jenkins for the last month, Saying, hey this looks
(01:14:01):
like a really good this is the type of GUY
i want to. Get, well now you have a welcome
to the. League as, obviously this becomes a, big big
question mark for The browns moving, forward and they're going
to have to figure out how to deal with. It
and this is the same locker room that is full
with people they're always trying to figure out how to deal.
WITH i could just, MAN i think Sometimes, buck there's
(01:14:23):
a fine line between you, know always we want football,
guys we want. Character no teams just want to. WIN
i get that they just want to, win but sometimes
it just feels like organizations can't get out.
Speaker 3 (01:14:32):
Of their own way when it comes to controversy around
the people that they bring.
Speaker 2 (01:14:35):
In The browns do seem to have a type that,
way don't. THEY i, mean that's got to be exhausting
if you're AND i know that's that's a blanket statement by,
me and it's probably not fair to the vast majority
of players who have played for that organization or signed
with that organization and have zero issues. Whatsoever BUT i,
Mean ian was just texting us a list of players
(01:14:58):
that they have that they have had issues with across the,
board not just domestic, violence though they do have those guys,
Too And i'm sure if you went through the history
of ANY nfl organization or any professional sports. Organization you
would find some less than flattering instances where this could
Become you could probably try and draw a. Correlation it's
(01:15:19):
just because it's always seems to be The browns that
we're talking. About So Zach jackson of The athletic WHICH
i wasn't sure was a real name, initially but it,
is in Fact Zach jackson His twitter. Handle it's great
At Akron.
Speaker 1 (01:15:35):
Jackson come, on that's really. Good, yeah that's kind of
like that a.
Speaker 2 (01:15:38):
Lot but he is the one who initially found The
Broward County sheriff's office booking for the charges quote touch or, strike,
battery domestic. Violence The browns have not yet commented on the.
Situation it seems like it's at least the reporting of
it or the public nature of the arrest has just
(01:15:59):
happened within the LAST i would, say hour hour and a.
Half his contract situation was already something that people were
going to be talking. About with, this it also makes
him susceptible judkins to any potential discipline by THE nfl
under The Personal Conduct. Policy beyond whatever off the field
legal situation he might have to work his way through
(01:16:22):
it's just it's not the kind of stuff that you
want to be talking about before football. Season and we
deal with this every off, season Right it's one of
the biggest things that coaches and executives will tell their
players when they go their separate ways for the. Summer,
just you, know make sure you make good, decisions make
sure you don't put yourself in a situation where you
would be vulnerable no matter. What and obviously there's a
victim to be talked about here beyond just quinch On
(01:16:44):
judkins being somebody who at least is alleged to have
done something that is really really. Rotten here will await
more details on the. Situation understand the nature of the
domestic violence, charge but the decision making of that organization
(01:17:06):
top to. Bottom we talked about this with The bears
at the start of the. Show Ryan pole's got an
extension with two years left on his, deal even though
The bears have been one of the worst organizations in,
football and they have Hope And i'm not comparing The,
browns you, know dealing with a running back with domestic
violence charges to The bears giving out an unnecessary extension
to their general. Manager BUT i think WHEN i WHEN
(01:17:26):
i talk about when anybody talks about bad organizations staying
bad and the decision making at the, top that trickles
down to the people who are responsible for putting these
people in positions or adding these players to a, roster
or did you do the proper vetting all the different
things top to, Bottom and some of it's. Unpredictable human,
beings you, know are are a huge. Variable no matter
(01:17:47):
who you are or what stage of life you're. In
there is no way to outright be able to effectively
predict what another person is going to do at any
point in their in their in their. Life but it's
FEEL i feel For browns. FANS i married the joke
off air that being A browns fan has to be
like being a heroin. Addict like you're addicted to something
(01:18:08):
that you know is bad for, you that you know
is going to cause you pain and grief and all
these different things throughout the course of your time using
and abusing this, situation and yet you keep going, back going,
back going, back because you're addicted to this. THING i
don't know How browns fans do. It they are one
of the most loyal fan bases in THE nfl and
that organization gives them zero reason to Be, yeah IT'S.
Speaker 1 (01:18:29):
I, mean you're talking about a second round draft. Pick
you're talking about somebody that they do a lot of legwork,
on a lot of research. On you, know it's a
lot of thought goes into. It and you're, right, LIKE
i don't want to jump to judgmentuntil we know more.
INFORMATION i don't want to sit here and make blanket.
Statements it's just hard not to look at this from
(01:18:50):
A brown standpoint and, say here we go. Again and
at some, point even if it's a bunch of isolated,
incidents when you see it happen over and over and over,
again it's it's just hard to find, grace it's hard
to find a benefit of the, doubt it's hard to
hold off on. Judgment all of these things become virtually. Impossible, so,
yes there's a lot of information that we still don't
(01:19:12):
know when it comes To junkins and what this situationation.
Is but what we do know is that he was
Arrested saturday In Fort, Lauderdale, florida in alleged case of domestic.
Violence so now that that information is, out we'll see
what The browns do with. It in the, meantime we're
gonna get you updated on the new standard in THE,
nba the. Team you're not paying attention to, that, honestly
you should. Be we'll tell you about it. Next he's
(01:19:33):
buck Um. Fits you're listening To Fox Sports. Radio it's
funny because, earlier in talking about roster construction in THE
nfl and what really, matters we sort of came to
a consensus that sometimes it's the boring things that really separate,
you and maybe we need to apply that not just to,
football but to all. Sports because while everybody's sitting over
(01:19:55):
here screaming About lebron And luca and what's gonna happen The,
lakers and it's easy to yell about whatever and the
hell The knicks decided they were doing at the head coaching.
Position in the middle of all of this, chaos something
happened in THE nba that was actually. Significant the world
champions made sure they put themselves in the best situation
(01:20:17):
to continue to be the world, champions and just like
nobody paid attention to their championship, run for whatever, reason
nobody decided to pay attention to their focus on. Stability
Spucking fits On Fox Sports, Radio Buck, Rising I'm Jason.
Fitz we're hanging out with you all throughout the, night
coming at you from the live from The Fox Sports Radio. Studios.
(01:20:38):
BUCK i get that the concept like there is nothing
sexy About Oklahoma. CITY i have spent time.
Speaker 3 (01:20:45):
In Okay, SEE i have played that arena many.
Speaker 1 (01:20:47):
TIMES i get why people don't necessarily, like it's not
this happening downtown scene when you go. There it's not
the same level of. Party, fine all of these, things,
LIKE i get why maybe people in the business particular
don't FIND okac to be a sexy. Story but you
know WHAT i. SEE i see a team that absolutely
got ripped apart by people that just went everywhere to
(01:21:10):
try and chase their own championships for reasons that they're.
FINE i have no problem with, that but it ripped
a franchise, apart and the franchise had to, rebuild and
it took a long, time and they became irrelevant and
everybody forgot about, them and everybody stopped talking about, them
and it was like they weren't even part of THE.
Nba and they guess, what they got. Better they got,
better and they got, better and they stayed. Young and
they didn't veer from their course to try and go
(01:21:31):
out and get somebody to bring. In, no they let
the guys that they have develop and they let everything
happen the right. Way they managed to grow themselves, INTO
i don't, know the most dominant team in THE nba
from day one until a, championship the most dominant team
in the. Playoffs they hoist The larry O'Brien Troy. Trophy
they get it all, done it's, great and then what
do they do this? Offseason they re sign everybody and
(01:21:55):
we still don't give a damn About. Okay, see it's
mind blowing to.
Speaker 2 (01:22:00):
ME i am shocked that they brought all three of
their big three. Back LIKE i was having a. Conversation
this was during THE Nba, finals AND i was watching
this as a Tortured pacers fan who, honestly at this
point would just just wants their team to be blown
up while we Await Tyre Tyre's halliburton to come back
(01:22:21):
from the terrible achilles injury that he suffered In game.
Seven but the fact that they Got Shay Gilligess alexander
at twenty six year old back on a max. Deal
Jalen williams on a maximum rookie contract extension two hundred
and eighty seven million, dollars And Ched, holnggren who is
twenty three years, old for two hundred and fifty million.
(01:22:42):
Dollars how are they not the biggest talking point IN
nba discourse right? Now and for all the reasons that
you've just, said they are easier to just kind of
let be excellent BECAUSE i almost are they a bit
boring in their, Excellence like they're just a bit droning
(01:23:03):
in the way that they Would they won eighty two
percent of their games last, YEAR, fitzi eighty two percent
of their games of the regular season is. Insane we
have not seen a team win as many basketball games
in regular season and postseason since The bowls Of Michael
jordan at their. Height and yet there's nothing that this
team can do other, than you, know fail to open
(01:23:25):
a champagne, bottle because they're also pure and wonderful in their,
innocence right that they have to Have who is At Max?
Strews did you not see this them having To maxters
having to pull up a YouTube video to show them
how to pop a champagne bottle because none of them
in the postgame locker room celebration really know how to do.
It Jalen williams don't even drink and he says he'll
never drink again after or not, interesting not interested in
(01:23:48):
drinking after celebrating a. CHAMPIONSHIP a couple shots of beer
and that was enough for. Him, no MOS, i it
shouldn't matter To Okay see. Fans they should be content
to have the best team in basketball and be incredibly
excited that they're bringing the core of that basketball team. Back,
now the degree of difficulty once you start paying that
much money for those three, players you're going to put
(01:24:11):
a significant amount of pressure on those three to continue
to not just maintain that level of, excellence which again
is a hard enough, thing but they're going to be
expected to elevate as. Players the, dialogue you want to
talk about things that will Put Oklahoma city and their
roster at the forefront if they start to underperform relative
(01:24:31):
to financial expectations that always come with professional athletes once
you hit that second big money, contract, right whether it's
an availability, thing if you start to play less games
or you start to miss time because your, body you,
know as always happens in professional, sports things don't always
(01:24:51):
work the way that you need them to, work or
health is not something that you can predict or count
on at any given, moment and things happen all the.
Time they if you want to make them a part
of the, discussion paying, this paying them this much money,
collectively those, three and then seeing what they do after the,
fact if they're able, to you, know really really try
(01:25:12):
and defend their title, here which is a difficult enough
thing in and of. ITSELF i almost think that it
it is going to be the thing that vaults them
into the national. Conversation now that all three of these
guys are making what they're making and you're looking around being, like,
well why can't you do it? Again you're paying this much.
Speaker 1 (01:25:29):
MONEY i, LOOK i think if you are a lebron
if you're somebody in the later years of your career
and you just want to play somewhere to try and
win a, title you want to go To Oklahoma, city
like if you're going to find some place just to
fit yourself. In but the crazy thing about it is,
like if we're being, HONEST i, mean, look you said
(01:25:49):
during the playoffs that WATCHING sga just didn't like it
didn't make your horns, tender like.
Speaker 2 (01:25:55):
Right, RIGHT i was trying to say, that not just
because he beat my team and my team The pacers
lost in a just heartbreaking fashion the way that that
went down at the, end but, like GENUINELY i don't
Enjoy Oklahoma city's style of, basketball and specific TO, sga
(01:26:16):
that doesn't mean THAT i can't appreciate his excellence and
how he goes about. It i'm Just i'm nitpicking, here
first world. PROBLEMS i don't enjoy him aesthetically doesn't mean
he's not.
Speaker 1 (01:26:26):
GREAT i, mean can't we say the same thing for
a lot of people About Chet? Holmgren like how many
people really like when you See Chet holmgren just rising
to the? Rim how many people are just on the
edge of their seat to just see how that thing.
Finishes and it.
Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
Sounds Like i'm being derogatory towards the, Player i'm.
Speaker 1 (01:26:43):
NOT i just think that we live in this like sexy.
Society everybody wants something that's gonna be like just a.
Human how often do we talk about that THE nba
is consumed now by short social media highlights and monster
dunks and monster. Plays, WELL i don't know that This
big three necessarily gives you that like if you're just
(01:27:04):
consuming the game in a you, know TikTok fashion and
a snapchat fashion where it's, like just give me the,
highlight move off of, IT i don't know THAT okc
is really that team for. You and that's part of
why it's just not going to be the same talking. Point. Now,
SURE i mean they're they're they're investing basically all their,
money all those what's seventy percent of the salary caps
(01:27:26):
dried up into these three. Players but they're all.
Speaker 3 (01:27:29):
Young AND i just keep thinking about what made That
bulls all?
Speaker 1 (01:27:33):
Young and so then you remember that like one year
it Was Craig hodges that was shooting a bunch of
buckets to help The bulls, win and the next year
Was paxson that was doing, it and then it Was
kurve doing. It was like you just there was just
random people that were suddenly coming in to this ball
like The bulls were their main, three you know that
for for the longest, time and everybody else was just
sort of a guy that came. In AND i mean
(01:27:56):
that's that's part of. This if You're Oklahoma city and
you're In Oklahoma, CITY i think this is actually a
frustrating chapter cause you're you're the damn defending champions of the,
world and you just as a franchise turned around and,
said we will spend whatever it. Takes we don't care
about any cap, flow we don't care about, tax we
don't care about. Anything we are keeping this core. Together
(01:28:18):
and you still can't give anybody to give a damn
like that to me is so, frustrating buck, like because
you know that If indiana turns, around if they had
won THE nba championship and months later they were keeping
everybody and you still couldn't get the ENTIRE nba world
to pay attention to, it you would be. Pissed you'd
be so. FRUSTRATED i, Think, okay, see, fans they have the.
Speaker 2 (01:28:41):
Right to be upset right.
Speaker 1 (01:28:41):
Now you, KNOW.
Speaker 2 (01:28:44):
I don't think THAT i would, be but, me me,
specifically me specifically because so just to just to kind
of for the for the sake of. Argument AND i
understand that when you work long enough in, sports when
you cover, teams it affects how how you, fan, right no,
Matter i'm happy THAT i cover AN nfl team for
(01:29:05):
a living because basketball is my favorite sport and so
football can be work AND i can still enjoy, it
and basketball can still be the thing THAT i love
the most and get to enjoy and watch as a.
Fan but BECAUSE i cover a very unique, market Right Fitzi, Nashville.
Tennessee The Tennessee, TITANS i would, argue the most. Irrelevant
not that The browns are in the news for good,
(01:29:26):
reasons but they don't even get the headlines that the
bad teams do that have more passionate fan bases and
have more people around the country interested in the good
or the bad that they. Do they are largely irrelevant
in the landscape of THE. Nfl Cam wore can absolutely
change that by being a star that is yet to.
Happen we will see the complaint of The titans. Fan
and you've heard this many many times BECAUSE i know
(01:29:48):
you obviously spend a lot of time here In Middle
tennessee and worked here. Locally is that why don't people
pay enough attention to?
Speaker 4 (01:29:54):
Us?
Speaker 2 (01:29:55):
Oh the national football, analysts they don't even watch The.
Titans they don't even know. That, now LIKE, i a
Man or is going to be a starting wide receiver
next To Calvin ridley instead Of Van, jefferson who appeared
In Bill barnwell's you, know playmaker rankings this, year, right
all these kind of little things that fans will latch
onto and. Use the SLIGHTS i think specific to, ME
(01:30:17):
i am so tired of Hearing titans fans whine about
it without having anything to really, Justify like why should
they watch your? Team you know What i'm. Saying and
Now indiana competing in THE Nba finals versus The Tennessee
titans the worst team in football last. YEAR i understand
that's not a fair, comparison but even like when The
titans were rolling at their heights With Mike vrabel And
(01:30:38):
Derrick henry And Ryan tannehill and all these, things you,
know it wasn't a four horseman. Graphic when they made
it to THE Afc. Championship they were the dopey, ones,
right they were the ones that didn't belong. There what the?
Hell what the hell of The Tennessee titans doing in
this picture with who was at The? Chiefs AND i
can't remember who played on the on THE nfcc on
THE nfc side of things that, year The niners probably
(01:31:00):
maybe The. EGLES i can't exactly remember that twenty Nineteen
Super bowl other Than Patrick. Mahomes that was his first.
WIN i am so tired of hearing fans pound the
table about why doesn't why don't people care about us
without having. Justification, Now thunder fans And pacer fans in
(01:31:20):
this specific, example they do their teams were in the. Finals,
okay see won.
Speaker 1 (01:31:24):
It that's but that's why this is, different because you're,
RIGHT i don't think more often than, NOT i don't
think people like the here's the constant fan, argument why
does everybody hate my? Team, like you're. Right In, nashville
everybody people right, well And rakers fans are always like
called the media hates The. Raiders, yeah, Sure like as
(01:31:45):
a general, rule this is this is really tough for
fans to hear and actually. Believe but the reality of it,
is if your team sucks for long, enough the media
doesn't hate your, team they become indifferent to your. Team
they just don't care about your. Team and when you
only HAVE x amount of time that you're gonna watch
any football and you're trying to prep everything that you
(01:32:06):
have to, cover when you cover for a place LIKE
espn Or fox and you're on all these, shows you
only HAVE x amount of, time you're not spending the
time on teams that you are in different towards that
are never going to be talked about because nobody really.
Cares like that's the thing that is hard For titans
fans to, hear and it's hard for several fan bases.
Here it's, Like, hey guess, what nobody's anti your. Team
they just don't care about your. Team your team is
(01:32:30):
essentially meaningless to most. People that's a tough lesson to.
Hear if you're An Oklahoma city, fan you have a
right to be upset about being. Meaningless you didn't for
the last four or five. Years you were meaningless because
like people just forgot. That, okay see even had a basketball.
Team like if you, walk if you just walk down
the street and you ask somebody in the middle Of, Kentucky,
hey you AN nba, Fan, Yeah Oklahoma city name three.
(01:32:52):
Players if they, can't then it's not, hate it's just. Indifference. Right.
Yeah BUT i think now the argument is warranted when it's, like,
hey we invested the, money we won a, championship we
were absolutely dominant last, year and you still can't care about.
Us and that's WHY i think this is now warranted for,
Sure AND i don't want, to you, Know i'm not
(01:33:13):
here to fans plain To, okay see they are they
are entitled to feel however they want to.
Speaker 2 (01:33:21):
Feel But i'm Just i'm running it through my personal.
Prism and maybe it's easy for me to do BECAUSE
i haven't had a team THAT i root for win a.
CHAMPIONSHIP i, Mean indiana basketball has one hundred years. AGO
i wasn't alive in nineteen eighty, seven the last time
they won a national, championship and the sport THAT i
care the most. About BUT i so Maybe i'm a
little jaded anyway on. THIS i just think that the
(01:33:42):
validation of winning the championship should be. Enough and, ALSO
i know this kind of undermines you and me a
little bit because we're sitting here doing a national sports
talk show And i'm getting ready to SAY i don't
really care what a national person has to say about my.
Speaker 1 (01:33:55):
TEAM i, mean, see you've gotten too jenated LIKE i.
Speaker 2 (01:34:00):
Do that's What i'm. SAYING i understand THAT i have
blind spots, Here, fitzy but LIKE i genuinely it does
not the only thing that bothered me during THE Nba
finals is THAT i couldn't get actual basketball analysis from
from the people on the broadcast. Coverage that pissed me,
off and we talked about.
Speaker 1 (01:34:14):
That but, no but LIKE i, see my Only i've
got to push back to What bucks you, said we
got to take a. Break i've got to push back
to WHY i think people do. Care we'll tell you
what it. Is He's Buck, Rising I'm Jason. Fitzen we'll
talk about THAT x On Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (01:34:27):
Radio it's a, fine it's a fine ride out of
the it's a fine right out of the. Gate mary
tell him? Why mary tell him? Why you told me
in my ear as we were coming. Back this Is
Fox Sports. Radio by the, way, course, look portion.
Speaker 1 (01:34:47):
Control it's an important.
Speaker 3 (01:34:48):
Thing portions. Controlled like look in. Moderation everything's.
Speaker 1 (01:34:53):
Fine you didn't have to add, WELL i, MEAN i
THINK i don't want somebody to go out there and
have ninety four and grapes at the end of the.
Night that's probably not very good for, them you. KNOW i,
mean by the, way the frozen grapes THAT i currently
have are the ones that taste like cotton candy. Grapes
oh those are so good candy. Grapes oh, yeah of
course It's porscha yet not only is a porta Control,
(01:35:15):
Mary LIKE i have a little pool on a food scale.
Foods and THEN i let Chatch epet add to my. Macros,
YEAH i food scale my. Grapes, yeah like a food
scale everything. Fat that's just WHERE i. Am chatch ept
then takes it and they tell me how many MACROS
i have Left, Tonight i'm gonna have some watermelon and frozen.
Grapes i've got the.
Speaker 2 (01:35:33):
Macros there's there's a penalty flag in another studio next
door to, mine And i'm about to go grab it
and just and just throw it for my own therapeutic,
release because you deserve to be fine for Every we
have finally found the place you have excused me for,
years for years of being unrelatable and. Elitist AND i
(01:35:53):
mean it's not an, accusation it's factually, Accurate LIKE i
have no defense against. Them but but to see you
come up over to my side on that on that
side of the. Spectrum Former man of The, People Jason Fitz, no, no,
no this is.
Speaker 1 (01:36:07):
Delightful, well you know what, again When i'm just walking
through the streets and my abs have abs and like you,
know you're just it's just gonna, happen And i'm never
gonna wear a shirt. Again i'm. Not i'm just gonna
throw all of my shirts away And i'm gonna walk
in everywhere and if it says no, shirts no, shirt no,
shoes Then i'll door dash. It i'll become, you i
will become a.
Speaker 3 (01:36:26):
Leader But i'll stand outside the door of the restaurant
so people see the.
Speaker 1 (01:36:29):
Abs WHILE i, wait because this is, like come, ON i,
Mean i'm not working for this for, Nothing porsington to
control a grape so part of, Okay so speaking Of.
Speaker 2 (01:36:37):
Mary damn, well better get some get some ass by
the end of, this because just. UNBELIEVABLE i believe stuff
like that.
Speaker 1 (01:36:44):
Too uh, yeah, yeah, yeah there's definitely uh you, know
on on workout days it's twelve hours for my last
meal on my first meal at, least and on non
workout days it's fourteen. Hours and then every day, starts,
well it's it's pretty easy To usually like, tonight it'll
be late BECAUSE i still have a bunch of food to,
eat so that'll screw me. Up but usually right like
(01:37:06):
seven o'clock to try not to eat anything after said So,
john and then the day starts with a forty minute
cardio fasted. Walk so like every day BEFORE i had
any food and there's a forty minute walka so you,
know there's no way to, vest no way to. Vest
i've thought about the way to, vest you, know just
(01:37:26):
to mimic WHAT i used to weigh BEFORE i got
as felt AS i am. Not you can find me
for that. One that one Gotta.
Speaker 2 (01:37:38):
Oh, YEAH i mean, GOD i JUST i don't know
why here's It's it's funny, though AND i know we
have actual things to talk. About But i'm, Sure i'm
sure all three of you not, really and it's not
even Banks ball's going. On i'm sure the three of
you all saw, this this story about The Kansas city
former radio host turned podcast host that was Calling patrick
(01:37:59):
mahon disgrace because he's got a bit of a dad.
Bod and then the trainer For Patrick mahomes had to
come out and, say, no we specifically tailor his diet
to make sure that he has enough for lack of
a better, term cushion to be able to absorb the
kind of contact that he's going to need to. Take
like quarterbacks can't be completely you, know two percent body
(01:38:20):
fat or whatever the case might. Be in, man maybe
that's an over. Compensation and listen To Patrick, malmes is
considered any kind of overweight. WHATSOEVER i would invite the
entirety of the sports media sports media industry to take
a real good look at yourself in the mirror and
see if you don't have a little bit of you,
know if you wear one of those workout, shirts that
(01:38:40):
you don't have a little bit of a. Gut BUT
i just think it's so funny that somebody Like Jason
fitz who has turned his life around in that department
and is striving to be the best version of himself
from a health and wellness standpoint for him and to
take care of his fur. Ki it's for as long
(01:39:01):
as he's, able and to provide the best and most
best and most efficient version of. Himself every time we
jump on here On Fox Sports, radio that the natural
reaction from the three of us is to make fun
of him is delightful to make well.
Speaker 1 (01:39:13):
Because we all know the root of it is. Vanity, yeah,
yeah a hundred. PERCENT i mean there's no, doubt like
it's All, YEAH i want to walk around in a
speedo just because it can like that's just, that there's
no doubt about. It and by the, way WHEN i
see it shouldn't.
Speaker 5 (01:39:30):
Be a.
Speaker 2 (01:39:33):
If you can wear the. Speedo by the, WAY i
think you should be allowed, to like if you belong
in a. SPEEDO i got no problem with. IT i
think people over sexualize those. Things it's just. Abathing so it.
Speaker 1 (01:39:41):
Relaxed, WELL i totally disagree with you on. THAT i
know that that doesn't make you. Uncomfortable i'm gonna go
throng and by the, way all Fall i'm only going
to think Of Patrick mahomes and, more you, know more
cushion for the. Pushing that's All i'm going to think
about from now.
Speaker 2 (01:39:56):
On because, OH i thought you were going to Say
Patrick mahomes and a.
Speaker 1 (01:39:59):
Thong, no, no, no, no THAT'S i.
Speaker 2 (01:40:03):
Think we're actively trying to legislate that out of.
Speaker 1 (01:40:05):
Here you know. What this is Where i'm going to
transition us to talking about the fit, experience where you're totally.

Too right steve.
Speaker 1 (01:44:00):

Speaker 7 (01:44:40):
With.
Speaker 1 (01:44:40):
You okay you mentioned earlier fans really shouldn't, care about,
you know if they turn ON national tv and you
know their favorite teams being.
Speaker 2 (01:44:48):
Talked, ABOUT well I said. I wouldn't, I said i
made that, very SPECIFIC but i understand why.
Speaker 1 (01:44:54):
PEOPLE do i think what what just drives me crazy
is when you are a fan of a, terrible team especially.
In football the worst part of it Isn't. Just sunday
it's knowing that you turn on every Show on fox
OR on Espn, on monday and if they're saying anything about,
(01:45:15):
your team it's going to be how terrible. They are
and every, article written every power ranking, out there every recap,
of anything is going to just in your face repeatedly
tell you that you suck falls when your team. Is
bad is so brutal because you can't. Escape it monday
is a recap Of why sunday broke. Your heart tuesday's
a little bit more work On why. Sunday stunk wednesday
(01:45:38):
is the overall look at. The league and by, the
way remind you your. Team stinks thursdays start, looking ahead
but your team doesn't stand a chance because. They stink
friday is more of your team either being ignored or
being called the easy win for. Somebody else like this
is just over and over and. Over again so when
your team actually finally, gets good there is this excitement
book that Comes on. Monday morning like it, you know
(01:46:00):
If the raiders are sitting here the, next year then
they've won. Ten Games on, Monday morning i'm anxious for
the first time in years to turn on every show
JUST because i finally get to hear people say positive
things about my. Football TEAM and i do think that
there's just meaning, to that because it's not as simple
for most fans, as well that three hours sucked And
(01:46:21):
now i'll deal with the next three hours that Sucked.
Next sunday it's all the ancillary stuff that gets thrown in.
Your face so knowing that when, it's bad nobody holds
punches back and throwing it.
Speaker 3 (01:46:31):
At you when, it's good you just want somebody to
acknowledge that your team's.
Speaker 2 (01:46:36):
Finally GOOD and i can totally, understand that AND, MAYBE
fitzi i genuinely think it's a product of my, favorite
team just just WARPING how i go about Fandom, BECAUSE
indiana I mean indiana basketball is it's not a blue
blood in college basketball and where it's been a long
(01:46:56):
long time since they can, claim THAT and i. Hate
that it makes. ME sad i hope that the new
coach that they just Hired From west virginia can turn,
it around BUT like i have zero expectation that my
team's ever going to be, good again, you know like
that's it has beaten me down to the POINT where
i go into every season expecting college basketball to be
(01:47:19):
SOMETHING that, i love Something that i'm going to be,
passionate about something that's going to drive, me insane but
something that's basically just going to turn into a four.
Month HEADACHE and i hate. That anybody not to make
it specific, to ME but i hate. That anybody And
maybe i'm, super pessimistic pessimistic relative to the average fan
(01:47:39):
or how you. Experience FANDOM but i have so struggled
with That because i'm in a group text with a
bunch of buddes from college who feel the same WAY
like i have kind of resigned myself to the idea
that my team is just not going to. Be good
so anything that comes that is. A positive i'm gonna
take that moment. In STRIDE and i almost Feel like
(01:48:01):
i'm measuring my Own or i'm measuring my own expectations
to just keep me from getting too ahead of, the
CURVE because i know how these, things GO and i know,
they're CYCLICAL and i know it's not going, to last
and that's a terrible way to go about being. A
fan but when you've got, certain teams or, certain programs
or certain Franchises, That browns we've talked a lot About,
(01:48:23):
the Browns, the bears that just continually. DISAPPOINT you i
have so much respect for people who can get themselves
up for another season that way when, they know probably
somewhere deep down in the deepest recesses of their minds
or their hearts or, their spirit that it's probably not
going to go the way that you want it, to
go and that it could take, a long long time
(01:48:44):
before you ever get back to what you think your
team should be.
Speaker 1 (01:48:48):
Capable, OF look, I mean i was as BIG a
unlv basketball fan as a KID as i Was a,
Raiders fan and it. Is funny there have been Times that,
I've laughed i'm glad YOU and lv never made the to,
you Know The, big ten, for example because at least
the constant losing has done. In oblivion, like you you
don't have that Luxury because indiana is constantly playing relevant
(01:49:09):
teams even if they're, not relevant so you're constantly going
to be reminded of. THEIR shortcomings i can't change the, Fact,
That look, i've tried there have been years When the
raiders have, been terrible and, it's like you, Know what
i'm just not gonna waste my time watching. THESE games
i can't change the, fact That like, Sunday starts, i'm,
LIKE nope i still want. To watch AND then i
can't change the fact that my heart rate still goes
up for no, Good reason like it's it's an obnoxious
(01:49:31):
part of being a FAN that I just i. CAN'T change.
Speaker 2 (01:49:34):
I can't i don't think it's, OBNOXIOUS though i think it's.
The BEST like i think. That's it that is it
distilled down to its most, Pure FORM like i that's
why we. Love sports you should be able to feel.
That that i've, you know conditioned myself to not do.
That anymore, IT.
Speaker 1 (01:49:49):
Sucks i, will, say though the one the ONE place
i draw a line in. The sand and this has
always been the case. For me when my favorite team wins,
MY yes, I want i want to watch it COVERED
and i get mad if if they're not talked about.
At all but my initial reaction to a win has
never been to immediately go AFTER anybody i think that
(01:50:10):
didn't give them.
Speaker 3 (01:50:11):
Enough respect like that's THE thing i, Don't understand like, you.
Speaker 1 (01:50:14):
KNOW obviously i had my run ins a few years
ago With some clemson fans that were pretty public at.
The time and every Single time clemson wins, Football games
i've got a group of people that will just tweet
me relentlessly like what do you, think now and effort
like all of. THESE things i love that, for YOU
and I just. I laugh, I'M like, I don't i,
Don't Care like i'm happy, For you. CLEMSON one i
(01:50:35):
don't have any disdain for any, Of THAT like i
don't understand that part of fandom where, it's like my team,
finally won and rather than celebrate with, fellow fans which
to me seems like the natural thing, To do i'm
instead going to go to every national pundit that may
have picked against them this week to remind that person
that they're an f and moron and they don't know
what they're.
Speaker 3 (01:50:54):
Talking about like that part Of wiring i'm Just not
i'm not.
Speaker 1 (01:50:57):
Built, with like If the raiders ever win A super
bowl in, my LIFETIME a i will cry like a
baby AND be i will celebrate with Every single RAIDERS
fan i could. POSSIBLY find i will not waste a
second of that moment going after anybody that didn't Pick
the raiders In The, super bowl didn't Pick the raiders to,
win games Going after, Chiefs fans like that's just Not how.
(01:51:17):
I'm wired like that's the one part of FANATICISM that
i think is funny and has become so weird in this,
culture now is like the minute of your, team wins
the first thing you want to do is figure out
who you can just, you know flip double birds to
along the way that you think didn't give you the respect.
Speaker 3 (01:51:33):
You deserve that's that's weird?
Speaker 2 (01:51:35):
To me you know what's? Also weird what what we're
about to? Do next as if tonight hasn't been? Weird enough.
Speaker 7 (01:51:44):
Is?
Speaker 1 (01:51:44):
It time are? We ready? It's time we're gonna do
you want to do some would?
Speaker 2 (01:51:48):
You rather it's the Only thing i've wanted to do,
all night other than Apologize To Steve's Seger.
Speaker 1 (01:51:55):
Steve deeseger, being asked would you rather work another Shift With?
Bucking fish yes?
Speaker 7 (01:52:00):
Or no?
Speaker 1 (01:52:01):
Just simple, he's, Like no. I'm good i'll tell, you what?

Speaker 2 (01:52:40):

Completely Forgotten but i'll. Be there.
Speaker 1 (01:52:46):
That tracks. That, Tracks okay but if you've listened to us,
at all you know every single show the same way
with the single greatest game show. In history buck you

Speaker 2 (01:52:57):

Speaker 1 (01:52:59):
It's time i'm? For woo would?
Speaker 2 (01:53:02):
YOU rather i think we?
Speaker 6 (01:53:05):
Got it, all right let's jump.
Speaker 7 (01:53:08):
Right in we are once again joined by the big
bright wheel that we are going to use to select
our would you?
Speaker 1 (01:53:14):
Rather?
Speaker 6 (01:53:14):
Questions here, so yeah so we're gonna go ahead and
spin it.
Speaker 1 (01:53:18):
Right now it's very, digital wheel very digital?
Speaker 6 (01:53:24):
All right this would? You rather have a rewind button for?
Speaker 7 (01:53:29):
Your life but every time you use it you get
a new weird tattoo in a, random spot or a
pause button that only works when you're in the act.
Speaker 6 (01:53:37):
Of sneezing.
Speaker 1 (01:53:41):
Where the hell did you get?
Speaker 2 (01:53:42):
These questions this is what happens when we leave it
into his own devices on the wood?
Speaker 6 (01:53:46):
You rather that's, a dangerous dangerous game.
Speaker 2 (01:53:49):
You're, playing OKAY so i, KIND of, i mean the
variance on that tattoo thing would. Be concerning have you
ever been one of these tattoo parlors where you have
you can you can get. A tattoo it's like a
like a reasonably priced tattoo out of a. Vending machine
but whatever, you get you have, to get like that's
that's how it's. Gonna go, I'm out, I'm out.
Speaker 1 (01:54:10):
You're out i'm wildly tattooed and everything has a point
and a purpose.
Speaker 2 (01:54:13):
For me, so yeah you're you're very, very specific so
we know which way you're. GONNA go I think i'm
okay with the random. Tattoo THING Like i i'm sure
there would be a few that, were regrettable and one might,
end up, you know on the side of my face
or something, Like that i'll look like. Jelly ROLL but
I think i like the.
Speaker 7 (01:54:29):
Rewind, button yeah it's like kind of a gamble every
time you you use The rewind, BUT yeah i, don't,
KNOW man.
Speaker 1 (01:54:36):
I just keep thinking about that Episode Of impractical jokers
where all of a sudden one of the guys got
a permanent Tattoo Of jaden smith on. His leg by
he didn't have, a choice it was, No yeah and
THAT'S all i keep, thinking about IS like i don't want.
TO walk i don't want to wake, up with like,
You Know will smith on the side of. My leg,
so No now I'm gonna i'm gonna pause in the
middle of. His sneeze i'm gonna pause.
Speaker 7 (01:54:56):
THE sneez i don't know how to quantify the. Impractical jokers,
fine punishments but that has to be the. Worst, one
yeah that that is the.
Speaker 1 (01:55:02):
Worst one that is my far the.
Speaker 6 (01:55:04):
Worst, one yeah, all right let's spin the. Wheel, Again.
Speaker 7 (01:55:11):
Okay so would you rather have to fight off an
army of toddler size suma wrestlers once a year or
one giraft sized hamster every?
Speaker 1 (01:55:20):
Leap, year oh toddler size. Sumo, Wrestlers yeah i'm all
in in, On, that like, i mean, come on anybody
that's ever like we've all kind of wanted once to
just get. After It like i'd love to kick the
butt of a. Sumo wrestler it's the Only way i'm
ever gonna get to, do, it right toddler sized. Sumer,
wrestler Like just i'm imagining the, little guy like you're
just picking him up and, throwing him and he's getting,
so mad like because you're just you're picking him up and,
(01:55:42):
throwing him and He's a, sumer wrestler he's also if
he's if he's a Toddler size, sumer wrestler those little
legs aren't gonna be able to run back at. You
fast i'm gonna laugh the. Whole way i'm just imagining
picking him up by his little Toddler size sumer wrestler
taper and just having a Toddler size sumer.
Speaker 3 (01:55:56):
Wrestler toss this feels like this could be LIKE An o,
show event.
Speaker 2 (01:55:59):
Like nobody's picking, the. HAMSTER right i have a deathly fear,
of rodents, just generally so like. The hamster, that's like
that's the kind of stuff that you would like hallucinate
seeing in a bad dream.
Speaker 1 (01:56:14):
Or with a bunch. Of mushrooms. GO ahead I just
i'm just. Making recommendations It's a, saturday night. Are you
i'm just everybody party is different on.
Speaker 2 (01:56:24):
THE side i can't think of. Anything worse what a
terrible recommendation.
Speaker 1 (01:56:32):
By you i'm just imagining now at four o'clock in,
The morning i'd like tonight, Tomorrow morning i'm gonna be
in the corner of my living room coward, and fear
Because somehow i'm seeing a giraffe.
Speaker 2 (01:56:41):
Sized hands don't eat that, chocolate bar, No promises, go ahead.
Speaker 7 (01:56:45):
You got a couple of macros on that, all, Right
guys would you rather have a third eye in the
middle of your forehead or a tiny mouth on your
stomach that constantly?
Speaker 6 (01:56:59):
Whispers? Secrets, oh, No, no ian did you eat the?
Speaker 1 (01:57:07):
Chocolate bar, come on the third eye has to, win
here the third look all. Of these would you rather
ask some of the whole mouth on.
Speaker 2 (01:57:17):
Your stomach that just quietly whispers your.
Speaker 6 (01:57:20):
Secrets out to the world speaking what?
Speaker 1 (01:57:23):
A nightmare you can't have that, because, like look you
don't need a small mouth on your stomach whisper and
your secrets while you're doing the, hibbity dibbity like oh
like that, always WELL because i, MEAN specifically i would
think that that would be, a problem like like that
particular like that's a that's a weird location for a,
secret whisper and you don't need secrets coming out at.
Speaker 2 (01:57:43):
Certain, times yeah Please.
Speaker 6 (01:57:45):
Marry god this last couple, of dude the entire.
Speaker 10 (01:57:50):
Segment is a, disaster tonight, A, Disaster IAN what, i
mean it's it's you leave us no voice with the third,
Eye right i'm so scared of what that that stomach mouth.
Speaker 2 (01:58:04):
Might, SAY well i think is.
Speaker 7 (01:58:05):
The third eye is something that can't be. Hidden exactly,
you know so at least the mouth point with. Your
shirt but it's, you know where's that whispering? Coming from,
oh god what?
Speaker 6 (01:58:15):
A nightmare, all right spinning the. Wheel, again no let
this end.
Speaker 7 (01:58:23):
Really quick would you rather have fingers that shoot glitter
or toes that play the xylophone when?
Speaker 1 (01:58:27):
You walk the?
Speaker 2 (01:58:29):
Glitter fingers.
Speaker 1 (01:58:30):
Let's go glitter fingers. Sound Amazing, Aaron Torres jason martin have.
Glitter fingers at least they glitter in. Their hearts thanks
for hanging out, with us sh
