Speaker 1 (00:01):
I have to have better stop. From the beginning, Jonas Knocks,
you thought you knew me, You didn't know a thing
about me. He's crazier than a else. Wrecked that guy, Jonas.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Knocks, you heard me, Little friends of Darkness is lighting
up your speakers to establish an alibi for the day.

Jonas Knox.

Yep, Okay, I'll reporting this world.
Speaker 1 (00:45):
You know. I think I've done it, finally done it.
There's a lot of people who scream for world peace
and they want everybody to be happy and get along.
I think I've found the solution to a major controversy
in the world of sports. I'll tell you what it is.

And I'll be full disclosure. I was off last week,
had a little vacation get away with the family. And
when I get away, I get away completely, like I
don't go on social media. It is family time, We're
(01:52):
having fun. I'm not thinking about work. I don't. I
just kind of stay away. But obviously I want to
know what's going on. And there appears to be a trend,
a trend and a topic that has become trendy in
sports and beyond by a lot of people. Everybody's got
(02:13):
a viewpoint, everybody's got an opinion on it, and it
appears to be growing and gaining momentum. And then it
took a turn late last night this morning, whenever the
actual news was announced. But it's taking a turn and
a lot of people are weighing in on it. All right,
so let's just address the issue, all right. We're going
(02:37):
to do this step by step, we'll address the issue.
I'll give you my broad view on all of it,
and then I'm going to come up with a solution. Right,
So this is a plan. I've been thinking about this,
I've been jotting down notes. This is important stuff, all right,
So let's get to this. The trending topic involves Caitlin Clark. Now,
(02:57):
before you go, trust me, this is going to be
a solution you've never heard anywhere else on sports radio
or sports television. So I encourage you to be right
here and to listen. If you're running errand's, that's cool.
If you're having a drink, even better, because the more
you drink, the better this show gets. But Caitlin Clark
(03:22):
has been left off Team Usay's basketball roster. Right now.
This is the latest in a lot of stories involving
Caitlin Clark that everybody's got an opinion on. And I'll
just give you my thoughts on the whole Caitlin Clark drama.
And this is how I kind of feel about it.
(03:43):
I don't really care, Okay, Like I'll just be totally
honest with you. Like we do a segment on this
show called do You Care? You could make all six
or seven topics about this, and they would all qualify
like I really, I just I'm sorry not into it.
I'm not trying to disrespectful, like it's not like, listen,
people love the WNBA, people are watching it, more people
(04:05):
are watching it now than ever before. I'm not one
of those people. I don't. I really, I'm sorry. And
Tommy Lee Jones is you know, you know, in a
sewer pipe, trying to get some guy not to jump,
and he's telling him like listen, I don't care you
got a gun like this, I'd like that's me. I
don't like seek out the w NBA. I can't tell
(04:26):
you who's playing now. I can't tell you who's playing
later on. And if you want to criticize me for that,
you go right ahead. But there's things that I'm into
that you're not into. I love the UFC, I love boxing.
This isn't a gender thing. Like some of my favorite
fighters are women fighters. You Anna Jone j Check of
(04:47):
the UFC, fantastic, she retired now she was awesome, Like
like this is that gets nothing about that? You could
go down there like it's nothing about that. It's just
there's certain things I'm into. There's certain things I'm not
I'm not into it, like the College World series, like
it's on cool. I don't seek it out, not into it.
(05:10):
The French open no offense to people who may or
may not be doing updates on the show. Couldn't care less,
don't care. So that's kind of my thought, like I
just listen. It's not not that big of it. I
don't under mean look, but you know, if they don't
get it, and if people want to push her away
and not be welcoming to the new crowd and all
the numbers and the money and the revenue and everything
(05:33):
that comes with it, like if you're not willing to
embrace all of that, Like, if you're not willing to
you know, embrace. By the way, Valentina Chevchenko and that's
another one, Nether Women's MMA fight are one of my
favorite fighters. She literally has a handgun tattooed on her waist.
I'm not making that up.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
You can look it up.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
Valentina Chevchenko. Look her up, literally a handgun tattooed on
her waist. The point is, if people aren't willing to
embrace the new numbers and new money and new eyeballs
that are coming to the WNBA and they want to
be petty about it.
Speaker 5 (06:08):
Screw them, that's fine, Just screw them. Like if they're
not willing to embrace it's screw them, Like what does
it matter? Like all right, fine, Like you weren't happy
before you wanted recognition, you didn't get recognition. Now you
finally got it, and now you're pushing it back. Like
I don't know how many of.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
You have ever given money to a homeless person, but
never one time in my life have I ever handled
a twenty dollars bill to a homeless person and they
look at me and go, I mean, you got any
tens and fives? Like I don't want to walk around
with this, Like I get to like, you know, come
on a twenty, Like you know any singles? Like I mean,
(06:46):
I'd like to, like come on. It's like no, sorry, dude,
I can't break you. I don't know what to tell you.
It's like, if that's not good enough for you, I
don't know what it is. So that's kind of my thought.
If they're not willing to just be appreciative and happy
with the growing momentum that they're getting with the sport,
screw them. But I do have a solution, because a
lot of people are weighing out on this. Everybody's got
(07:07):
a hot take, and I've got the solution, and I'm
going to simplify it and give you the compromise that
we all need to try and get together in unison
and understand that it's not the end of the world
that Caitlin Clark is treated different, or that she was
left off Team USA's basketball roster, or that she's receiving
(07:30):
hard fouls. And it involves a number. And if we
can get a drum roll please from our live studio
band no Stone Unturned here on a Saturday afternoon or
more independent on where you are, the number is fifty four.
(07:52):
Do you know what the number fifty four is? And
do you know why that's the compromise and why that's
going to bring everybody together here arguing about Kitlin Clark
and the WNBA all the time, because fifty four is
the number of days until the first preseason game in
the NFL. So a round of applause for everybody. You
(08:13):
know this, this is what we need. You need to
find a common ground because fifty four days from now
it's all over with. And look, I could sit here
and go, oh, well, you've got training camp and we
got all these other story like, but listen, like we're
talking about real action. We're talking about the Hall of
Fame game, We're talking about Bears Texans. So I just
(08:36):
want everybody who's in the mud throwing stuff at each
other and complaining about where we're at with the WNBA
and the Women's Olympic basketball team and Caitlyn Clark and
the mistreatment and why don't I get attention and I
need this and I need that. I just want you
to focus on a number. The number is fifty four,
the number of days until the first preseason game in
(08:57):
the NFL. And once you do that, you realize, you
know what I can get through the rest of this
work week. You know, like Friday's right around the corner.
I'll be a happy hour and no time on August
first watching football and none of this is gonna matter.
Jonas Knox here, Fox Sports Radio, get me on Twitter
at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox. Now, I
do have a question because I was trying to figure
(09:18):
this out because the way that this was presented this
week in sports and the way that we talked about
it because I do this show, you know, Monday through Friday,
six to nine am Eastern time three to six am
Pacific time with what the hell's their names? What is
their name, Love Brody whatever. It's starring me and a
(09:44):
couple other guys who apparently have done some stuff in sports.
But the point is we were talking about this story,
and this story was that Dan Hurley, the Lakers were
in hot pursuit. I mean they were in hot pursuit.
They were going to for a huge contract. Dan Hurley
was going to be the guy. He was going to
(10:05):
be the guy. And like it's been a couple of
days and we still have no official word yet. And now,
while I appreciate the fact that the Lakers, who are
on the outside looking in on the two remaining teams
in the NBA that are playing for games that actually matter,
(10:26):
that are playing for a championship, which is something they
haven't played for in a long ass time, and you
can try and you know, if you want to count
what happened in the bubble, that's fine, okay. I mean,
look to me, that's a half ring right now. Whether
you want, you know, the ring to be elastic to
attach the two sides if you want it to be
(10:48):
like whatever you want to do. The point is like
it's been a long time. And I do appreciate the
concerted effort by the Lakers on day one of the
NBA Finals, A Finals that they didn't I'm close to.
I do appreciate the fact that they got this story
out there, that they've identified who they want as their
(11:08):
next head coach. But the problem is the way it
was presented. We're over forty eight hours later and he
still hasn't signed on the dotted line, and now Yukon's
given an offer, and there's all these reports. And I'm
not saying Dan Hurley's not going to get the job,
and I'm not saying I don't like the hire, because
I actually do. I like Dan Hurley a lot. I
(11:28):
think it would be a fun hire. I think it'd
be fun to watch and see how this plays out.
But I'm just wondering what happened? Why is the deal
not done the way was I mean, even dead Spin
consider the source, but even dead Spin ran a headline
on Twitter or x whatever you want to call it,
(11:49):
and said, Lakers hired Dan Hurley as their next head coach.
Where's where are we at what happened? I mean, everything
was set in stone that Dan Hurley was gonna be
the guy, based on the reporting and the hoopla and
everything that was out there. We broke into the show
(12:10):
on Thursday to talk about it. It was breaking news.
It came out that early in the morning. We broke
in to talk about it. And yet here we are
a couple of days later and nothing's official. And I'm
not saying that I hope that this happens. I'm not
saying I root for this to happen. But wouldn't it
be kind of funny if he just like backed out
of the job. I mean, wouldn't it be kind of
(12:31):
great if Dan Hurley all of a sudden just backed
out of the job and said, you know what, I
think I'm gonna stay in Yukon. Yeah, I think I'm
gonna go for a third national title in a row,
and I'm gonna go ahead and sit this one out.
And then all of a sudden they go back to
Plan B, which Plan B apparently would be what JJ reddick,
I mean, who knows, like whatever, assistant like Chris Quinn
(12:55):
in Miami, like who knows, like whatever? Plan It just
It would be kind of an appropriate conclusion to a
franchise and an organization so desperate to get some attention
because they've been out of the news and haven't played
a basketball game since seemingly twenty fifteen, for them to
try and get some headlines and generate some buzz, only
(13:16):
to have the guy that they were trying to generate
buzz with decide you know what, yeah, f that I'm
gonna go back to Yukon and try and win a
third in a row. Just saying it would be kind
of funny to see if it played out like that,
Not saying it's going to but I'm just wondering what.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
The delay is.
Speaker 1 (13:30):

Speaker 1 (15:00):
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up in We'll call
it about ten minutes from now somebody has got it
figured out in the world of sports. They've got it
figured out. They've got an entire fan base hook Line
and sinker. I will give you the details on that
(15:22):
and tell you who it involves, coming up next here
about ten minutes from now on Fox Sports Radio. So
I believe that there's this thing called I like to
refer to it as bathing and failure or kind of
you know, wallowing in your misery. Like there's just certain
(15:42):
things that you know, like, I get it. There's motivation
and then there are reminders, like you could be motivated
to want to do something, and so you'll be like, uh,
all right, hey, you know I want to get in shape.
You know I want to I want to get in shape.
So you'll take it before and after, like, hey, it's
January first. Here's how I look, right, just as a reminder.
(16:03):
I don't want to look like that again, so I'll
do Like listen, everybody's done that to some degree with
something in their life. I get it. That's fine, that's fine.
I used to have this quote. I love looking at
this quote that it was from Thomas Edison, and it
said many of life's failures are people that did not
realize how close they were to success before they gave up.
(16:23):
It's like one of my favorite quotes because it's true
you never know, like you could walk away from something
and you were right on the doorstep, but you never knew,
so you just pushed through it. So I remember always
looking at that quote when I was trying to get
into radio and I just kept failing and failing and failing.
Couldn't get a shot, couldn't get an interview, couldn't get
an opportunity. It's not like I knew anybody in the business,
so there was nobody I could get in touch with.
(16:44):
I just kind of had to figure it out on
my own and took all these different weird paths and
all this stuff. But I just like that stuff. I
make some sense. And then there's like bathing in failure,
like wallowing in the misery to where it's like a
con constant reminder and to me, it feels like it's
bordering on toxic. And I say all that to say this,
(17:08):
Mike McDaniel has a plan. He revealed that plan for
the Miami Dolphins and for the Miami Dolphins franchise and
the fan base and everybody who supports Miami Dolphins football.
He's got a plan, all right, and his plan is
to bathe in the failure, to wallow in the misery.
(17:31):
Because I don't know if you knew this or not,
but the team who's got the longest streak in the
NFL of not winning a playoff game is the Miami Dolphins.
It's been twenty four years since they've won a playoff game. Now,
it was the Lions, but the Lions went on a
run last year and so they're out of the doghouse.
They're not there anymore. Miami holds the title longest playoff
(17:55):
wind drought in the NFL at twenty four years. And sidebar.
I remember the game that they won. It was against
the Colts. If I'm not mistaken, Mike Vanderjack missed a
field goal. And I remember that because I was watching
that as we were taking a break in the middle
of band practice. I had this garage band. My friends,
very supportive, always called it a failed garage band. They
(18:18):
weren't wrong, didn't go anywhere. But we remember watching that
game being like, okay, all right, like this is uh well,
Miami won this game, like interesting, and I think it
went to overtime. There was all sorts of stuff that happened.
But the point is there's been a long ass time
since Miami has won a playoff game. And Mike McDaniel
explained this week sort of one of his strategies to
(18:40):
try and get over the hump, let's take a listen.
Speaker 8 (18:43):
We need to finish the season better so you get
what you emphasize. Well, why not find ways to emphasize
finishing in everything you do upseess about it?
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Why not have for half the off season.
Speaker 8 (18:57):
You know you're trying to have staff meetings at different
times during the day, and I had every staff meaning
I put like at seven twenty four or three twenty
four or five twenty four, like the number twenty four.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
Okay, to you guys, it means nothing.
Speaker 8 (19:12):
That's how many years it has been since the organization's
won a playoff game.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
We are going to hear about that come playoff time.
Speaker 8 (19:17):
You think, to me, you do that to empower guys
to know what's coming, to understand it, to not run
from it. Because if you're going to achieve success where
people are predicting failure.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
You're gonna have to go above and beyond.
Speaker 9 (19:31):
That.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Just feels like a bit much. I'll be honest with you,
because I got it. Just a question. What the hell
does you starting a team meeting at seven twenty four
or eight twenty four or nine twenty four or ten
twenty four or eleven twenty four or thirteen twenty four
if you're on military time, what the hell different? What
(19:53):
does that have to do with the fact that, yes,
you guys have fallen apart late and see. But if
we're gonna be fair about it, let's just break down
the two playoff games that Mike McDaniel has got his
fingerprints on. If we're gonna be fair, because I like
Mike McDaniel, I like what the Dolphins are doing. I'm
probably a bigger fan of TUA than a lot of
(20:15):
people are. But if we're gonna be fair about it,
if we're gonna break this down and be honest, let's
look at the two playoff games. A loss two years ago,
you were on the road at Buffalo. You were starting
a seventh round, third string rookie at quarterback in that
(20:36):
playoff game, and by the way, you were competitive. It
wasn't like they got blown out. It was a field
goal game, and Miami lost. That was the first one.
The second one was so cold that people had body
parts removed afterwards. Okay, like whatever happened in that game,
(20:59):
to me, he kind of exonerated on all charges. Like
it wasn't like the Chiefs played great. They just handled
the cold weather a little bit better than Miami did. Shocker,
Like the temperatures were kind of cold in Kansas City
at during that game. Patrick Mahomes's helmet cracked. A week
(21:22):
prior to that playoff game, you had some people die
by a fireplace in Kansas City because the weather was
so uncomfortable and the weather was so cold. Now, as
we found that later on, you know, they kind of
had some other things in their system that helped, you know,
facilitate that. But like people got frostbite. It was like,
(21:44):
I don't know that those are fair judgments or representations
of what the Miami Dolphins playoff failure has been for
Mike McDaniel since he's been there. It's like Trey Lance's
one completed start when he was finally the star with
the Niners. And I've talked about this before. This is
why I defend Trey Lance. Dude, before he get like
(22:06):
his second year when they gave him the ball and
said you're the starter, not spot duty, not we need
you to step in as a rookie because you're filling
in for an injured quarterback. It's no, no, you're our
starting quarterback. Week one, let's go. And what did he
get Week one? A monsoon at Soldier Field in Chicago,
a literal monsoon. And for some reason, that and the
(22:32):
game he broke his leg the next week are enough
of a sample size for people to go, oh, yeah,
he's not going to work out in this league. Like,
I understand that people want to just but this is
why you can't just read box scores or just cover
this stuff with a surface take. You got to do
(22:53):
a little bit of a deeper dive. Unless you're lazy
and you're not going to do that. That's fine. I
mean I'm not, so you know you want to be.
That's fine. But I look at it and I go, like,
I don't know that focusing on the twenty four is
maybe the best approach to take, Like, I don't know
that that's the best approach to take. Like I remember
(23:13):
when the Bears lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in that
playoff game back in twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen. It was
the game where it was the double joint game coined
by Chris Collinsworth, where Cody Park he hit the upright,
then hit the crossbar and it bounced out and they
lost that game. Matt Naggy was obsessed with the number
(23:34):
forty three. Obsessed it was a forty three yard field goal.
He missed it so much so that they brought in
like eight kickers, nine kickers to mini camps and to
close practice every day they kicked a forty three yarder
like he was obsessed with forty three yard field goals.
(23:54):
He couldn't get enough, like, wouldn't let it go, And
at some point you do kind of have to let
it go. Listen, you ever lost an animal before I have?
My dog was my best friend. His name was Hog.
He was a bull mastiff. He lived almost thirteen years old,
(24:16):
but unfortunately he got old and he died. You know
what you won't find in my house his corpse. And
do you want to know why? Because I don't think
that focusing on that every single day and seeing his
rotting dead body every single day is going to make
(24:37):
me come to terms and accept what my fate was
with him in our relationship. No, he's just dead. It's over.
I don't need to bathe in the misery. I don't
need to wallow in the negativity or sit there in failure.
It just is what it is. I could either get
a dog, or I could start to move on. I
(25:00):
still haven't gotten a dog. I just kind of had
to move on, is what it is. Changing your meeting
times to twenty four have nothing to do with a
twenty four year drought that was concluded in the last
two years with a third string quarterback starting on the
road of Buffalo and you playing in an igloo at
(25:21):
Arrowhead in which people had pieces of their body taken
off because it was too cold and the temperatures are
that outrageous. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio. Give me
on Twitter at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox.
All right, So coming up next year, one team and
one franchise in sports has got it. Figure it out.
They've got a fan base, hook line and sinker will
(25:42):
tell you who they are. But for all the latest
from around the world of sports, make some noise for
a man who's got full in depth coverage. Oh yes,
of the WNBA, the one and only Brian fan.
Speaker 10 (25:55):
Well, Jonas, I figured out why you were gone last week.
How did the boy Scott Tree you go for?
Speaker 9 (26:00):
You?
Speaker 1 (26:01):
Screw you, fim. I never did boy scouts. My parents
couldn't afford it. Wait to rub it in. Sorry, I
didn't grow up behind a gated community with you and
dick Enberg.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
Jesus, it's true.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Are you not friends with dick Enberg?
Speaker 4 (26:15):
He's no longer with us, Jonah.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
Okay, but you but that was a mentor and a
friend of yours, wasn't he.
Speaker 10 (26:19):
Well, it's because his youngest son was my age and
we were on the same like little league baseball team together.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Who was better? You were his son?
Speaker 9 (26:27):
Well?
Speaker 4 (26:27):
I was named basketball definitely me.
Speaker 10 (26:30):
I would have to have to you know, his son
named after Ted Williams and his son great guy. But
was a ballhok And I was always open in the
corner from ten feet that was my shot, and his
son would never pass me the ball. He always would
take a contested fifteen footer and would brook city it.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
So I mean, well, wait, Jesus, I mean you don't
have to air him out. And by the way, never
mind me, I'm not doing it. I'm not doing it today.
I do have an update for you fan, let's hear
at less than an hour from now. Okay, other mentor
is going to be on the show. The Great Andy
ferm Oh my gosh, he's got his candy ass finally
decided he was going to show up for once. I
(27:11):
tried to get him on during the last big horse race.
The guy no showed after he picked a winner of
the week before.
Speaker 10 (27:16):
Well that's because once he picks one.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Once he picks one, there's never going to be another.
Speaker 1 (27:22):
Well yeah, I mean that's possible, but I mean at
least he could do. There's like fans that want to
make some money here as they're you know, sitting around
early June wanting to have a little bit extra spending
money for vacations coming up. And Andy Ferman No showed
last time, so you know we're looking forward to that.
That'll be lesson. I'm an idiot.
Speaker 6 (27:37):
I don't know much.
Speaker 10 (27:38):
Thank you, Andy, I cannot I cannot wait for that.
And yeah, so speaking of which, Jonas is we get
you know, you're you're the man with when it comes
to putting out teases. But Team USA, but women's basketball
leaving Kaylen Clark off their roster this summer for the Olympics.
Speaker 4 (27:53):
I know you're upset about that.
Speaker 10 (27:55):
Igs Fiatech, make sure you say that last name correctly.
Win's the French Open for a fourth time in five years,
and it's a third straight year. Six two six one.
I have no idea jonas why he did not lead
with this story. The PGA two are notifying that it's
had encouraging talks with reps from the Public Investment Fund
of Saudi Arabia, the financial backer of Live Golf, and
(28:15):
while these specifics of what they talked about were not
made public, the particulars besides have been trying to form
an alliance. There was a resumption of talks recently things
seem to be going in the right direction in terms
of getting that symbiotic relationship.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
Speaking of the PGA Tour.
Speaker 10 (28:33):
Right now, the Memorial Tournament is in progress and it's
round three. Scotti Scheffler, world number one, is your leader
at eleven under overall. He is two hundred today through
four holes. He has a five shot lead over a
pair of competitors. And I'm gonna mention this tournament. I
might get fired, but it's Livegolf. I know I said it,
(28:54):
and I might get fired Jonas to this, what's the problem, Well,
I mean, not everybody here likes nope golf.
Speaker 9 (29:01):
Oh is that really that's really a thing.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
That's really a thing.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
I don't want to name names, but somebody doesn't like
live anyway. It's pro golf.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
There's pro golf. But anyway, Hey, by the way, I
just for the record, for the record, I got no
part in this. Okay, Hey, at the old adage, my
name's Paul missed between y'all. I got no problems here.
I don't want that.
Speaker 10 (29:26):
Smoke for sure, and I'll give you this this final score. Jonas,
Kevin Na and Paul Casey, Martin kaim Er, Adrian moronc
are all at seven under overall. This is the second
of three days. You mentioned fifty four Jonas earlier. Yeah,
Live golf plays fifty four holes in a tournament, so
I think that's what you were talking about when you
mentioned fifty four. Anyway, it all makes sense. It all
(29:48):
makes sense now. So there is a four weight tie
at seven under. They're all in their first nine, so
there's plenty of golf to be played, and we'll continue
to monitor it here.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
From the newsroom. Jonas as you know very well with that.
Speaker 10 (30:02):
Let's get it back to Jonas Knox, who last weekend
did not show up because he was at a testosterone conference.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
Oh I wish, by the way, the line was too long.
That would explain some other things. Thank you, Brian. It
is Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. By the way,
we are going to have a special edition of Do
U Care coming up here in about ten minutes from
now from the tire raq dot com studios. So I was,
as family mentioned, I was not here last week. Was
(30:30):
in Chicago with the family. Decided to go out to Chicago,
one of my favorite city. He's probably my favorite city
in the US. And you know, we get out there,
we want to go to a couple of Cubs games,
you know, take the little one and all that. But
I was out there and I'm like, man, the Cubs
have got this whole thing figured out, dude, Like they've
got it figured out. Like I would say, more so
(30:52):
amongst places I've been due to see sporting events, and
I've been to some weird places all over the country,
all over the world. As a matter of fact, we
went we were in Ireland to watch the Notre Dame
Navy game that took place last August. Like, I'm just like,
it's been pretty cool to see like different sporting events
and all that. Been lucky to do it. And the
(31:14):
Cubs just have it figured out because while people put
together like and certain teams will put together like lists
of like, oh, you know, who's the greatest player here,
who's the greatest player there? Like you know, like if
you're the Bulls, obviously it's Michael Jordan and then everybody else.
You know, you could argue the Celtics, like who's the
greatest MAVs player Ever, there's people arguing Luca versus Dirk.
(31:36):
If Luca wins this NBA Finals, by the way, he's
not going to Just want to let everybody know that.
I want to get that out of the way. That
series is over. So you're welcome. That series is over.
Probably go about five games maybe, But the point is,
like you see these people that get into these lists
like greatest players of all time, so on and so forth.
The greatest player in the history of the Chicago cu
(32:00):
Ubs is Wrigleyville. And let me explain what that is.
Wrigleyville is the neighborhood surrounding Wrigley Field. If you've never
been there, it is unbelievable. It is a bucket list
gotta go. And it's not even so much for the game.
(32:21):
Let's be on the Cubs are They're a sub five
hundred team who are paying a ton of money for
a manager, and they're worse this year than they were
last year. They won a World Series in twenty sixteen,
but like, if we're following trends, they'll probably win their
next World Series and like three thousand and twenty four,
(32:47):
I think, I think that's I think I have that
correct or maybe or maybe it's twenty one twenty four.
I don't know who cares. The point is it's gonna
be a long ass time and we'll all be dead
and buried the next time they win a World Series.
But none of that matters, literally doesn't matter. You walk around,
you would think you were walking around the greatest franchise
(33:10):
in the history of sports. Like you walk around the neighborhood,
nobody cares. Like every corner you go to there's a
bar or a restaurant, and they're flourishing. Everywhere you get
into the stadium's packed like at everywhere you go, there's
a crowd. You go into a sporting good store, you
(33:31):
go to Wrigleyville's Sports across the way, crowd. There's a
Draft King sports book there. The place is awesome, by
the way, would love to do a show on remote
from there with our friends at DraftKings right at Wrigley Field,
a Draftking sports book crowd. Everywhere is a crowd, like
(33:52):
it literally doesn't. They started a game at nine thirty
five local time while raining last Saturday night, I know,
because we were expecting it to start at six point fifteen,
and everybody just assumed that, all right, they're gonna this
game is gonna get canceled. They'll just play doubleheader tomorrow.
And nope, they played that bad boy. It got played,
(34:15):
and everyone was like, all right, let's go in the
game now. Literally entire neighborhood like our weight to catch
the Redline train, to get back in downtown, to go
to your hotel, like the whole like the thing is bananas,
and it's like, you wonder why maybe they don't want
to overpay for this or overpay for that, because they're like, well,
(34:36):
what does it matter, You're gonna show up anyways, doesn't matter.
It's like it's one of the greatest like tricks, one
of the greatest cups in the history of sports. Seeing
the Chicago Cubs, a mediocre at best baseball team and
franchise with the greatest player in the history of the
(34:59):
franch being the stadium and the neighborhood they're in and
if anybody argues any differently, they're lying to you. If
you don't believe me, just go there. Take it all in.
It is a magical place and it's got zero to
do with the actual baseball being played. Jonas Knox here

Speaker 6 (36:39):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time,
DMZ reports.
Speaker 1 (36:47):
Let's get kinky.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
Here's some of the big stories from the last week.
But Jonas, the real question is do you Care?
Speaker 1 (36:55):
And for that we turn it over to a man
who I don't believe has appeared on this show in
the history of this show, the one, the only, the
star of weekday Mornings, Lee to lap Lee, What the
hell is going on?
Speaker 11 (37:09):
I almost started it, Jonas with my good morning everybody.
I'm a little lackadaisical.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Right now, that's all right, listen, there's there's a solution
for that. It's called winds of the World. Right right,
you're hanging left outside that back studio door, and it's
right over there.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Oh, my good old friends. I think I might go
pay them a visit.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
By the way, I like how the one guy pretends
that he can't hear anything, but like he knows, Like
how you know when you ask him a certain question
about why a price has got up, he seems to
he seems to always know that. Oh yeah, yeah, So
what do we got todayly?
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Well, Jonas?
Speaker 11 (37:39):
The first place, Phillies are right now up six '
to two on the lowly Mets in London, being broadcast
on Fox. So right now it's on Fox as well
as tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
Do you care? Yeah, you know, listen, it's a Fox broadcast.
Fox does it better than anybody, so of course I'm
gonna care about this. You know, it's nice to see
these games be sent over to London. You know, I
don't know how much the people there actually care about it.
But nonetheless, we get Phillies, we get Mets. It's on
right now. You can watch the coverage of it on Fox.
I encourage everybody to do it. But make sure you're
still listening to this show. You can just kind of
(38:10):
have that game on mute.
Speaker 11 (38:11):
Next, Randy Gregory's suing the NFL and the Broncos, claiming
discrimination over being fined five hundred and thirty two thousand,
five hundred dollars for taking medication that contained THHC for
disabilities during his brief time in Denver.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
Obviously he's in Tampa now, Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (38:27):
No, not really listen. It's unfortunate. It's a lot of money.
I get it. But you know, if we're gonna do this,
I mean, are we're gonna go back? Is Josh Gordon
can also file some sort of a lawsuit like I mean,
you can't go back and like relook into all these
guys who got popped or punished for whatever they got
popped for is what it is, and whatever happens to this,
I couldn't care less.
Speaker 11 (38:47):
Next, the MLBPA accuses Bad Bunny Sports Agency of improperly
offering loans, concert tickets, and more to attract clients.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
Do you care?
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Not?
Speaker 6 (38:57):
Really, I don't care.
Speaker 1 (38:58):
I just I don't know a lot about bad buddy.
I really don't. Some of the stuff I see feels
a bit odd, you know, some of the behavior feels
a bit odd. What that has to do with MLBPA?
And let me listen, Like, I just want to watch baseball.
I don't need the drama attached. Or they just give
me some hardball, give me a hot dog, give me
(39:20):
some throat burners. You know, if you're into cracker jacks,
that's fine. I'm not point is this has got nothing
to do with that. Let's move on next.
Speaker 11 (39:27):
I wonder if cricket has hot dogs in it because
one of the biggest upsits in sports history happened Thursday
when the United States defeated Pakistan and the T twenty
World Cup of Cricket to match. The match was decided
in super over tiebreaker. I guess this is what they
call it super over tiebreaker, with the US beating Pakistan
by five runs in the final.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
Do you care?
Speaker 1 (39:47):
No, I don't. And here's why I don't care. It's
like I've had people try and explain the rules. It's
like craps, like I think Lee and I have been
at a craps table and you've tried to explain the
rules to me. I don't understand it. I've had it
explained to me five six times. It just seems kind
of all over the place for me. And so until
I understand the rules, I'm not gonna pretend like I've
(40:08):
got a take on the US winning it. I'm happy
for the US. I would have been rooting for him,
but I didn't bet on it, so therefore I don't care.
Speaker 11 (40:14):
Next, the woman who became an Internet sensation for exposing
her boobs in support of the Edmonton oilers has disappeared
from the Internet, with the flash happy fan removing her
accounts from all social media platforms amid her newfound fame.
Speaker 4 (40:29):
Jonas, do you.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
Care let me see she here?
Speaker 6 (40:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (40:34):
Absolutely, let me be something all right? There's nothing wrong, all
right with being proud of your gifts. You know, certain
people are giving gifts and there's nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
You know.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
I was given a toy basketball when I was a kid.
Did I leave it at home and not show anybody?
Of course, I'm gonna show it. I want to play
with that thing. Come on, give me a break. You know,
I think there's something that a lot of people are
afraid to admit, and a lot of people are afraid
to do that is appropriate. I think it's okay, yet
a lot of people won't do it.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
I will.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
I'll explain coming up here just a couple of moments
from now. Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You can find
this show on the iHeartRadio app. You can find us
on hundreds of affiliates all across the country. Wherever the
hell you are making us a part of your Saturday afternoon.
We appreciate you doing so. We are going to take

(41:26):
do it all live tire rack dot com Studios, tire
rack dot Com. We'll help you get there, an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road as a protection, and over ten
thousand recommended installers tire rac dot com the way tire
buying should be. So I was talking about this earlier
that the latest I don't know controversy or whatever that
(41:49):
you know is tied into Caitlin Clark and the WNBA,
like she was left off Team USA's basketball roster, like
you know, she was foul hard. There's players arguing about
who's like it's just like all of it, Like I
just I don't like I'm really honesty, like I'm not
(42:10):
saying this just to be you know, have a different take,
like I really don't care, Like I mean, I came
up with a compromise, like I've like I've tried to
come up with some solutions. While you guys are sitting
there bitching and moaning about the treatment of Caitlin Clark
and the WNBA, whatever side of the fence you're on,
I'm the only guy who's coming up with a solution
for piece here. And I told you what the solution is.
(42:31):
Stop focusing on either side, Stop focusing on the controversy,
and you got to look to tomorrow and by tomorrow
fifty four days until the start of the NFL preseason, Right,
that's what you need to look for. That's the focus.
That's where you got to keep your attention enough of this.
That's going to be the piece that is going to
(42:54):
bring everybody together, because while you're inundated with hot takes
about a sport and a league that nobody cared about
an hour and a half ago, I'm sitting here looking
for solutions, saying, hey, listen, I'm just gonna play peacemaker here.
Fifty four days until the first preseason game in the NFL.
Peace Maker, right, peacemaker, put that in your hashtag and
(43:15):
smoke it. But I'm also going to say this because
there's some people that get upset when I tell you,
like I really don't watch the WNBA, and I'm like,
it's just not I'm not into it, Like it doesn't
like there's nothing wrong with it in my opinion, all right,
And this is just my opinion outside of the Big Four,
(43:37):
and I guess you know you will kind of break
that down. But outside of the Big Four, it's okay
to have hobbies. Not the wrong with that, Like it's okay,
like there are certain things that you gotta do, and
there are certain things that you do that, yeah, maybe
nobody else kind of is into, but that's kind of
your hobby. That's your thing. Like everybody works, right, you
(43:58):
have a job. Hopefully if you don't just listen to
Fox Sports Radio like I would, I would recommend that
just to keep you busy. But the point is, like
everybody's got a job, right, and then there are things
you do that are like your hobbies, Like what do
you like to do for fun? You ever meet sit
down with somebody, you're at a date, you know, first date,
it's like, hey, what do you like to do for fun? Uh?
You know I like to I like to work out,
(44:19):
I like like to fish, golf. You know, there's like
things you do for leisure, you know, outside of work,
like in my mind for sports, radio, sports television, like
what we do like for our job. Like there's there's
the work, all right, and the work is NFL, NBA,
college football, Major League Baseball, maybe the NHL. But if
(44:46):
like we're going to focus on like the Big four,
the Big four to me, the work the actual work
of this profession, NFL, college football, NBA, major League Baseball
to me in my mind, and then you get these
things that are like your hobbies. And those hobbies would
be WNBA, NHL, horse racing, cricket, you know, golf like
(45:18):
you know for me, the UFC in boxing. If you
want to throw WWE in there, you can. Like there's
just like there's things that there's it's okay, Like I
got a bund, I got buddies who love to golf
when they're not working. I don't do it. I got
buddies who love to go skiing and snowboarding when they're
(45:39):
not working. I don't do it. It doesn't make you
a bad person if you don't really care that much
about the WNB. It's not a problem if you don't
care that much about the WNBA. Like at least, I'm honest.
I'm not up here faking it, like pretending like I'm
all into it. It's like, ooh, what's trending? Oh my god,
let so well, that's gonna dictate how I do my show. No,
(46:03):
I'm not gonna fake it. I'm not gonna pretend. So
you can be upset about that all you want, then
I'm not, you know, more more focused on the big
matter at hands. I'm sorry. Like, I'm not gonna dwell
on the past or dwell on the arguments to try
and come up with it. No, I'm gonna focus on
the positive. And we've done that on this show. We've
(46:25):
played peacemaker and we've told everybody on either side, hey,
let's make some peace. Let's find a common ground. And
that common ground is the number fifty four, which is
the number of days until the first preseason game in
the NFL, and then all of this will subside. I mean,
you don't have to thank me. I'll just I'll get
in front of it and just tell you you're welcome.
That's it. Jonas Noxi or Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (46:48):
All right, So.
Speaker 1 (46:51):
This is a little bit unfortunately, I don't want to
say unfortunate. Let me be careful here, all right, because
this is a very serious matter and it involves the NFL,
very serious matter.
Speaker 10 (47:02):
But like.
Speaker 1 (47:04):
When you'd like take a step back, it kind of
you know, doesn't make sense. You hope, like like you
hope that you took care of everything. You know, like
you ever had that time or a time or two
in your life where somebody asked you, like, hey, you
remember to lock the door, right, and you just respond yeah,
of course, But deep down you're like, oh god, did
(47:26):
I remember, Like I h yeah, yeah, good course, Like
why would I forget to lock the door? Of course
I did. And like you guys are out of dinner,
you're on vacation, it's like yeah, like a and then
you start thinking to yourself like, oh my god, I
don't think I locked it, But you just say yes
because you're like yeah. I mean, of course what a
(47:46):
like like we like I would forget something like that.
I'm just hoping the NFL hasn't done that here. I'm
just hoping. And here's why I say that. Josh Jacobs
was on the green Light podcast with Chris Long, you know,
new Packers running back, and he was talking about this
(48:07):
game coming up in Brazil Week one between the Packers
and the Eagles, and he was pointing out how like, listen,
you know they've told us like you can't wear green
and the part of Brazil you're going to because that
there's like a gang affiliation, which is not a good idea,
and this and that, and they were like, oh my god,
well I'm not going to go to that, and I'm not.
That's like and you hear that, and you go, man,
(48:29):
that's that's problematic, like that that would be like that's
a that's a real problem. Well, the NFL has since
come out and talked with Josh Jacobs about it, so
much so that Josh Jacobs actually took to Instagram or
snapface or twitter x or threads or one of these
other MySpace like whatever it was, and he apologized and said, oh, yeah,
(48:52):
you know, I got that wrong, you know, looking forward
to being in Brazil, and I just wonder if, like
the NFL had one of those hey remember to lock
the door, right, yeah, of course, of course. Another thing
I like, oh god, because you know, like in certain countries,
in certain areas, like you know, you do have to
worry about that stuff, like you wear a certain color,
(49:13):
you wear this, there's a language, you know, barrier, like
you got to be careful out there. And I can't imagine,
or at least I hope, that the NFL was looking
at putting a game on in another country, in an
area where green has some sort of a gang connotation.
(49:33):
And I can't imagine the NFL, while looking around their
entire roster of teams to send over to Brazil, picked
two of the only five who have green in their
color scheme, or like, I just I can't imagine that
the NFL would look at this entire thing and go,
you know, we've heard these stories about you know, the
(49:56):
soccer team and all this stuff. And you know, although
we've got thirty two to pick from, there's five that
have you know, shades of green in them. Yeah, let's
go ahead and send two of those five over, Like
I can't imagine the NFL would do this, And so
my only hope here is is that the NFL isn't
having one of these Hey you remember to lock the door, right,
(50:19):
and they're like, oh, yeah, of course, of course, and
they get to Josh Jacobs and then they're looking around
at the NFL offices going, uh, oh, you know, we
think the players are going to be fine. There's going
to be security, everybody's going to be safe. But you know,
it might be a different story for some of the
fans that want to go to Brazil and attend this game.
Because I don't know if you've noticed this or not,
(50:39):
but no matter what combination of jersey or apparel you wear,
if you're an Eagles or Packers fan, like there's a
uh like green is in it, you know, like like
it's there so much so that one of the team's
cities that they're from has the word green in it.
(51:02):
So I'm just I'm hoping that the NFL didn't realize
the mistake too late in the game before they said, yeah, well,
you know, game's already scheduled, so day listen, everything's gonna
be fine, folks. So whatever you heard, no big deal.
No problem whatsoever. Everything's gonna be fine. Everybody have fun
(51:23):
in Brazil and whatever you do, don't go into certain
like this. I just that's my hope here. That's all
I'm saying. I'm just hoping that the NFL has figured
this whole thing out. Let's go live to our I
have a thought on the color green insider Chris Purfeff
for the latest career.
Speaker 12 (51:37):
So for those who don't know, I do a soccer
segment at night with Bernie Frotto the World of Soccer.
This has come up a few times and good news
is for josh Ja Gubson. For a lot of Packers
and Eagles fans, this is a bit of a misunderstanding.
What's really happening with Green is that there is a
soccer club. The soccer club that they're playing this game
(51:58):
in Corinthians has a bay on the color green because
that's the color of their crosstown rivals and saw Paul Marris.
It's usually just fans hassling other people not to wear
green in the stadium, and I think one time the
club find one of their own players for wearing green cleats.
But it's it's created a lot of a lot of confusion,
(52:19):
and unfortunately there's also a lot of NFL news accounts
they've just kind of run with this without like issuing
any corrections.
Speaker 1 (52:26):
Here would be my only, my honly concern with that,
and because you know, like as I mentioned, like listen,
there was a soccer team all that, because that was
the original story that came out, as you pointed out,
like that was the and so like the fact that
it took this turn and Josh Jacobs talked about it
like he did, and then I do a Paul. My
only problem with that is this, if anybody's seen international
(52:47):
soccer games at times, while we complain about a fan
yelling at a player, and sometimes they've got to worry
about a Molotov cocktail going on to the field and
somebody throwing you know, pipe bombs or glass or like
it just you know, it gets a little bit. So
my only point is I would assume that the NFL
(53:12):
would have made sure that everything was good to go,
Like they would have made sure that everything was good
to go, and wouldn't have just sent two teams out
there knowing the risk involved with all that. Yeah, they've
got they've got every base covered in everything that they do.
I'm just hoping that the NFL didn't realize after the fact.
Oh god, yeah, that's something we didn't look into.
Speaker 12 (53:34):
I think the city is a little bit more of
a of a consternation, especially for fans like sal Polo,
much like other parts of Brazil is kind of notorious
for like look, every big city has crime, but definitely
in parts of South America, like tourists do get the
run around or if you're in the wrong part of town,
can get you know, waylaid very easily. So I don't
(53:57):
know if holding the game in salth Polow itself is
extremely wise if you're expecting a bunch of fans to
fly in.
Speaker 1 (54:04):
That's what Jacobs was saying. He was saying, yeah, we're
not in Rio, like it's a different it's a different
part of Brazil that that, and that's why they're having
to work. Like I just I look at it and
I go, uh.
Speaker 4 (54:14):
All right, like I've just listen.
Speaker 1 (54:16):
I don't I ultimately, I don't think anything's gonna happen
because if you know anything about tourism or you go
to places like the tourist dollar is important to a
lot of countries because it's it's money that's coming in,
and you do get protection from a lot of people.
Like I remember being infrom in Cancun for my buddy's
bachelor party, and there were some of the guys on
the trip. They were like, we've heard some stories. We
don't want to go downtown. It's going to be a problem.
(54:38):
And I'm like, dude, we're gonna be okay. We literally
went downtown and there were armored tanks driving up and
down the street with guys hanging off the back with
guns to make sure nobody messed with the Taurus. So ultimately,
I think everything is going to be fine. It just
is funny how this is a problem. You only got
(54:59):
five t Tames with the color green in their in
their combination, and they sent two of the five. Just
you know. You just hope everything's gonna be all right
for the for the NFL. I think it will be,
but uh, but we'll wait and see. Jonas Knox here
on Fox Sports Radio. By the way, a lot of
positive feedback here on the show. A lot of people
pretty thrilled UH to UH to be happy with with
(55:21):
UH with the performance thus far, Like Paul who writes
in Joni the Bleep get back to being outraged about
Corey Clark and boycotting your useless board op of a
sports career until she's put on the bleep Olympic team,
(55:42):
you bleep, David writes in Judas like the rest of
the LA brainwashed cheerleaders, like the bleep that you are
imagining Danny Hurley coaching your fakers, which will be as
(56:04):
bleep as Honey ham was. Bitchy fakers. F boy Tony
writes in Jony Jyoff will be bleeping it out to
those two large bleeps you imagine from Willie and mart
while watching an illegal stream of bad bums bleeped by
(56:28):
your favorite buddy cop duo at the Jonas Knox. At
the Jonas Knox on Twitter or x is where you
can find that. Rodney writes in that's a douche canoe
take on the WNBA. I hope you don't have any
(56:48):
daughters again at the Jonas Knox. At the Jonas Knox
is where you can find all the positive feedback there
on social media. Coming up next here though, from the
tire rack dot Com Studios. Man, it's good to be back.
We are going to have an opportunity for you to
(57:08):
potentially make some money this weekend. And by this weekend,
I mean today in the world of sports. Find out
how next year on fs are we don't need to
bring Jonas in. Settle down, Eddie. What's your turn? Dude?
What a professional Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. We're already
(57:35):
starting here.
Speaker 4 (57:35):
We go, uh here.
Speaker 1 (57:38):
This is going to be where we get thrown off
the air. This is going to be the segment coming
up here and we will call it about ten minutes
from now from the tire rack dot Com studios. We
are going to talk about somebody in the NFL who
has done something that another professional team has done, but
a little bit differently, all right, so we will explain
why that is coming up here in about ten minutes
(58:01):
from now on Fox Sports Radio. Right now, we got
to welcome in a man who won you money about
a month ago. Well, this guy is always on top.
This is he is, and this is a man who
you hear Sundays six to nine am Eastern time three
to six am Pacific time. He is a Fox Sports
(58:22):
Radio host. He is a horse racing blow hard. He
is the great Andy Furman joining us here on FSL
fur Ball. What's happening.
Speaker 13 (58:33):
Let me tell you something right now, Okay, the only
reason and the only reason of God's green earth that
I'm with you right now because this time, baby, is
gonna cost you. See the first time was a free beat,
right and you won. You want some money, now you
want some information. It's gonna cost you, all right. Secondarily, Secondarily,
I'm gonna say one thing. Tell that Brian Fenley, clown
(58:54):
of yours, to take the night out of my back.
Speaker 6 (58:56):
Damn.
Speaker 13 (58:57):
I go down to visit him in Lexton, Kentucky, to
watch him call tennis. Any schmuck could call a tennis match.
Speaker 4 (59:03):
Believe me.
Speaker 13 (59:03):
I was with him for fifteen minutes. I watched him
do it. I could do it. I could do it blindfold.
He's going back, go, He's serving here, back and forth.
But come on, there's no talent in that, really, guys,
there's nothing that really. And at last, but not least,
I'm telling you right here now, not only am I
wearing green to go to Brazil to that football game,
I'm gonna drink Heineken beer in green bottles.
Speaker 1 (59:24):
How do you like that? All Right? That's a You
really came out fire and out of the starting Gates.
First of all, Okay, Brian Fanley, I want to apologize
for the way you were just treated here on this
show by Andy Ferman.
Speaker 10 (59:39):
Look, I don't take any of that personally from Andy
because when.
Speaker 1 (59:41):
I got you're a fool, that's why.
Speaker 10 (59:43):
No, it's because the shorts you were wearing were down
in your ankles.
Speaker 1 (59:47):
I lost some weight. What can I tell you? I
lost a little weight, lost the weight. I forgot my suspenders.
I lost some weight. All right, So listen, now we're
off and running here with with Andy Ferman. Now I
did mention this. So about a month ago, we had
the Kentucky Derby and Andy Furman was on the air
(01:00:08):
and he predicted Mystic Dan to win the Kentucky Derby.
It was a sixteen to one underdog that won, and
people were tweeting and letting me know. We're exing me
afterwards and let him. And by the way, for those
of you that want to be critical and be like,
oh my god, it's been so long, why do you
still call it Twitter? Screw you and kiss my ass.
All right, I'll call what I want to call it.
(01:00:29):
That's what it's called. It's twitter X is too confusing.
I don't want you to think I'm talking about your
ex or my ex or anybody else's ex. I'm just
calling it Twitter. So that's X, not the letters X.
So the point is is that you handed out a
sixteen to one winner a month ago, Yes, and how
did you follow that up at the Preakness? You flaked
(01:00:49):
on everybody you know, showed I didn't know you wanted me.
Speaker 13 (01:00:53):
I didn't know you wanted me because I thought I
was your ex's.
Speaker 1 (01:00:56):
Okay, that's but people were upset about it, and I'm back.
So I'm back and listen. So were a lot of
the affiliates because I kept teasing ahead and teasing ahead
and teasing ahead. Hey, he's gonna be here, He's gonna
be here, and then you know, let me know, I
got a busy schedule. Come on, all right. So so
before we get to your pick and before and for
your winner for the Belmont, all right. And for people
(01:01:17):
that want to know why Andy Furman's a horse racing
blow hard. The guy used to run horse tracks. He's
I mean, he's right into the ground.
Speaker 13 (01:01:23):
That's what I did, by the way, and then the
name the horse tracks that I worked that that are
no longer in business.
Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
Okay, And by the way, for a little fun fact,
did you know, all right, did you know that Andy
Furman is the reason Pete Rose is selling memorabilia outside
the Forum shops in Las Vegas right now, like you're
the reason that he's not in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
I love him, I do have it. I love him too,
I do.
Speaker 13 (01:01:46):
Listen there, he used to go every night, every night
of Latonia Racecourse. And funny, funny, you mentioned that the
Reds were playing the San Diego Padres in San Diego
the night I got married, because I got married at
the racetrack, and he felt so sorry, so so bad,
that he couldn't come be his wife. His wife came
to my wedding. I was married in the window circle
on your racecourse, and he couldn't make it, but he
(01:02:06):
was gritting.
Speaker 1 (01:02:08):
And you tell everybody why you got married at the
horse track that you worked at. Tell everybody why, well,
be honest.
Speaker 13 (01:02:14):
I wanted to get married, you know, at the end
of the races, but my wife said no, she wanted
to show a thing after the daily double.
Speaker 1 (01:02:19):
Okay, all right, but be honest, why why did you
have the event at the horse track. You tell me,
I don't remember, because because you wanted what you wanted
people to come. Oh yeah, everybody brought a gift gut
him free. Yes, we got about fifty five people opening night. Yes,
(01:02:40):
imagine that, like, hey, bring a gift for the wedding
taking place at the horse race, and you get in
for free. And Peter King wrote an article about it,
like literally wrote as illustrated.
Speaker 13 (01:02:52):
You aren't such a The hardest part to honestly, the
hardest part of that wedding was to get to get
a robb By the perform the service. There's only about
a half dozen Robbys in the greatest Cincinnati Northern Kentucky area.
So I went to every single one of them. Okay,
are you kidding me? On the racetrack it's not religious,
But I found one. I found rob Bi Greenberg. Rob
(01:03:14):
By Greenberg is no longer there.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
I'm not for sure it would have been O'Brien.
Speaker 13 (01:03:20):
So Greenberg came because you know why, I said, you
know what, what is it going to be? I said,
It's going to be about six eighteen in the afternoon.
Why is that It's gonna be on live TV? Okay,
I'll be there I'll be there. So then the next
week's Sports Illustrated comes up and they had the scorecard section.
Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
It was written up in Scorecard.
Speaker 13 (01:03:37):
His kid calls me, Hey, I heard my dad is
in Sports Illustrated with that wedding. I said, yeah, could
you get me get you a copy? Go and buy
a copy of Sports Illustrated? Right?
Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
Can you believe it? So great? Listen thirty years, Wendy
thirty years. Yeah, Jonas knocks Fox Sports Radio with Andy Ferman,
the great Andy Ferman joining us here on FSR now
a little behind the scenes as well too. So Andy
Furman has been the voice of Cincinnati sports stock Radio
for years and years, even though he hates the city,
but he has been a voice of Cincinnati sports stock
(01:04:11):
Radio for years and years. I called Andy a couple
of weeks ago because I was filling on filling in
locally on a low torch and five seventy l a
sports and I called all right, So I called Firman
up because the Dodgers are in town, and I'm like, uh,
you know, hey, like, is there anything you got any
information in the intel on you know, them getting ready
for the series there in Cincinnati, And like the crowd
(01:04:32):
and the fan base and just sort of the atmosphere
because I'm filling in locally in LA and I want
to you know, be able to like talk about a
you know, Andy told me that this is what they're expecting, anticipating,
so on and so forth. And Andy says to me,
and I quote, oh, here we go. Yeah, they're pissed
they didn't do o Tani Bobblehead night here because that
way the way they can draw a crowd is true.
(01:04:55):
I was shocked.
Speaker 13 (01:04:56):
I had a decent crowd that close to forty thirty
six thousand, I think, which is pretty good really, But
you tell.
Speaker 1 (01:05:01):
The Cubs are in town. Do you know what the
course of you?
Speaker 13 (01:05:04):
I stayed here to talk with you because I was
planning on going to the Reds game this afternoon, which
thoughts in about twenty five minutes. But for you, you
know why I did it because I want to prove
to you that I'm going to give you another winner today.
Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
Okay, all right, another one? So without without further ado,
Andy Furman is here. So do we have any like,
you know, special horse racing music or anything that we
can play for Alan Ranger so he can hand out
a winner here, like we have one of those trumpets,
like those, but better up put it up cold to
the post.
Speaker 4 (01:05:33):
It's cold.
Speaker 1 (01:05:33):
We're going cold to the post. Hey call this all right,
here's the point. All right, So we've got a race
coming up later on. All right, there you go. It is.
It is the Belmont Steaks in Saratoga. Place in Saratoga.
By the way, does Bill Parcells still live there? Doesn't
he live in Saratoga? I don't know what almost positive
(01:05:57):
I know where people live. No, I'm just saying like,
I'm almost positive he looks in Saratoga for that mistake.
Speaker 13 (01:06:02):
And the race is this It is a mile and
a quarter this year rather than the normal mile and
a half, which bothers me because I'm kind of like
a stat freak record keeper, and it used to come
ten twenty years from now. They're going to say, well,
this horse ran the Belmont Stakes in twenty twenty four,
and this time I'll say, wait, no, put an aster
it there because it's a mile and a quarter not
the normal mile and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
And by the way, it is going to be seen
on Fox.
Speaker 4 (01:06:24):
I can't wait.
Speaker 1 (01:06:25):
I can't wait. It's a Fox discleverage of the Bellmont
will take place. So, Andy Furman, we've got for last check.
We've got ten horses, yes, that are in the field. Yes,
the current favorite I have it here as Sierra Leone.
You also have Sierra Leon.
Speaker 13 (01:06:41):
Now, Sierra Leone to me is the likely favorite, and
certainly is the favorite right now. But when I look
at these ten of horses, it doesn't certainly tower over
any one of the other horses. In this very consistent
h that has to run straight. That's the thing. Course
that's second place finished in the derby because just not
on straight. I just love the horse. I think it
(01:07:02):
was ninth to five the last time I looked. I
like sier early on, but I like Ciria Leone to
finish second. I'm going to give you the winner right now.
Today's winner a fifteen to one shot. The Wine Steward.
The Wine Steward. Okay, the question with the Wine Steward
right now? Has he gotten much better from his two
year old season. That's the thing I'm concerned about. This
(01:07:23):
distance may not be in his range, but certainly it's
a fresh horse ready for the upset. The Wine Steward
will win the Belmont Stakes today. How about that?
Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
The trainer is Mike Maker and the jockey is Manuel
Franco Johnny Franco's fault, which I believe he was in
my wedding. We do have. So there it is. The
wine Steward, at fifteen to one, according to Andy Furman,
is the winner of the Belmont. Listen, for those of
(01:07:55):
you who think that's crazy, he handed out a sixteen
to one winner for the derby a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 13 (01:08:00):
Go.
Speaker 1 (01:08:00):
So, Andy Furman, there we go the wine Steward. Now
do you have any others to place to show anything
like that that you look at as I.
Speaker 13 (01:08:07):
Like Antiquarium, Antiquarium is going to finish third, probably like
I like, Antiquarium is a twelfth to one shot. Antiquarium
won the Peter Pinstakes and it was Belmont in the past.
But he's been improving. He could handle and should handle
this distance, but not good enough to win. I like
the the Order of Wine Steward Sierra leone Antiquarian one
(01:08:30):
two three.
Speaker 1 (01:08:31):
How about that? Can we get a round of applause
for the great Thank you Fox, little respect, little respect
for respect. And by the way, if you have an
issue with anything that Andy Furman just gave out if
you lose money on this, which you probably won't, but
if you lose money on this, you can get him
on Twitter at Andy Furman FSR. You can also listen
to him and Bucky Brooks, my guy, Bucky Brooks six
(01:08:53):
to nine am Eastern Time, three to six am Pacific tomorrow. Furball,
Love you man. We appreciated those two. Thank you there.
He is the great Andy Furman with us here on
Fox Sports Radio. Just came in hot. I'm just guns
blazon to open up his appearance here on the show.
All right, Jonas Stocks here Fox Sports Radio. So we
(01:09:15):
are going to celebrate one franchise that's stealing a little
bit of an idea from another in the world of sports,
but having different success with it. We'll get into that
for you here on FSR. But for all the latest
from around the world of sports. A man who is fuming,
he is pissed. I am the one and only Brian Finley.
Speaker 10 (01:09:33):
You have to obviously commend in the first of all,
for what he knows about horses, because he has the
opportunity nobody else can do this. He actually can speak
to the horses, so he has heard from all of them.
Going into this race, and so having that sort of intel,
no wonder he has hit on all of these races before.
(01:09:53):
But but Jonahs, if you listen to his energy, don't
you think they should put him in the starting gate?
Speaker 2 (01:09:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
Well, I mean listen, there's look, Andy deserves a little
bit of respect. Like when Chad o Cho Senko raced
the horse, that was Andy Furman who set that up.
Same with Chris Collins with Andy Furman set that up.
And that's not a joke, Like he literally set up
and made all that happen. I think he deserves a
little bit of respect. I'm just trying to figure out.
(01:10:18):
So the only time you guys have ever met in person,
how long were his shorts?
Speaker 4 (01:10:24):
They were down to his ankles?
Speaker 10 (01:10:26):
Hey, look, and he only like he makes it sound
like it was this rough ordeal, like he drove.
Speaker 1 (01:10:31):
See.
Speaker 4 (01:10:32):
The thing is Andy.
Speaker 10 (01:10:32):
Doesn't actually live in Cincinnati proper. He lives in Kentucky.
It was in Kentucky, so don't let him.
Speaker 4 (01:10:37):
Tell you that.
Speaker 10 (01:10:38):
So he makes the hour drive or whatever it is
to Lexington and he literally spends ten minutes with me,
and then he has better things to do.
Speaker 1 (01:10:46):
Oh I saw are you saying me? I saw him
at Keenland for the Breeders Cup a couple of years ago,
and he came on in the morning and he hung
out with myself and Brady and we had a blast,
me and him, Brady Quinn. We were just busting ball,
like typical hang out with Furman. The race is over
and I'm like, hey, dude, stick around. We're gonna watch
the races and you know, try and you know, bet
on the ponies a little bit, like why don't you
(01:11:06):
stick around. He's like, no, no, no, I'm just I'm
a little tired. I'm gonna get going, Like, Firman, I
haven't seen you in like ten years, Like just stick around,
Like it's not like you're not a state away or
you have a flight to catch. You just hop on
the freeway and you're a of a highway and you're
back home. And he wouldn't do it.
Speaker 10 (01:11:20):
Yeah, he's one of those guys where he's a human
hamster wheel, so he can't sit still. You almost have
to put him in a straight jacket just to make
sure he doesn't move.
Speaker 4 (01:11:28):
Yeah, and that you you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:11:30):
So so that's what.
Speaker 10 (01:11:32):
Yeah, and again he forgot to tell you that he
had three o'clock bingo that night.
Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
You can't miss it. Geez, are you aging him? I
don't do that. That's unfair. You gotta be a shave
to yourself, Emily.
Speaker 10 (01:11:43):
Yeah, he had to go run and to get some
scratch offs going too before that shot closed as well.
So yeah, he gotta gotta fire it back somehow until
next time. But yeah, right now, we'll get into this
really quickly. We got Team USA women's basketball. They left
kal and Clark off their roster this summer for the Olympics. Hey, guys,
Fia Tech and you're super high on her performance, Jonas.
(01:12:03):
With the French Open. She won it today, fourth time
in five years. Six two six won the triumph and
the championship. We also have the Stanley Cup final game
one tonight. It's at eight pm Eastern. It's Oilers and Panthers.
Speaker 4 (01:12:17):
Jonas. That is hockey. Just so you're aware.
Speaker 10 (01:12:20):
As far as what else is going on, We've got
the Major League Baseball Series in London.
Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
Currently.
Speaker 10 (01:12:25):
It's the Mets and they are getting tortured. They're getting
bamboozled by the Philadelphia Phillies seven to two. Six runs
scored in the fourth for the Phills. And lastly, let's
get to golf. Scottie Scheffler at the Memorial Tournament, the
third round, which is progress right now. He's your sole
leader at eleven under overall two hundred for the day,
eight holes through and he has a three shot lead
(01:12:46):
over Adam Hadwin. And then yeah, I'm gonna mention this
and Jonahs s if this is my last show with you,
you know, why live golf. It's this the second to two,
second to three days and right now Adrian Moronk is
your leader.
Speaker 1 (01:13:02):
What a household name. He is eight.
Speaker 10 (01:13:04):
Under, he's got a one shot lead, one under through
eight holes. So so there you have it, Jonas, And yeah,
a lot more to say about Andy Furman.
Speaker 4 (01:13:13):
I'm sure we'll get to that. It's some other week, but.
Speaker 1 (01:13:15):
Yeah we will.
Speaker 10 (01:13:16):
Yeah, definitely if he hits one, you know, today's probably
going to miss all the picks, of.
Speaker 1 (01:13:21):
Course, but you know, listen, we love him. We're gonna
be going to embrace him with open arms. There he
is the great. Brian Finley with us here on Fox
Sports Radio. Jonas Knox with you here on FSR. It's
coming up next here we are going to close up
shop with another edition of the Scraps, and it involves
one franchise who's kind of taken one idea and manipulating
it into their own and having success. We'll explain why
(01:13:44):
that is next here on FSR. Jonas Knox Fox Sports
Radio coming up top of next Hour a little over
twelve minutes from now from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Make sure you stick around, will be Alex Curry and
Carmen Vitally.
Speaker 4 (01:13:57):
They will have you.
Speaker 1 (01:13:58):
Covered for two hours here on FSR. You can also
listen to the show on the iHeart Radio app. Before
we get to another edition of the Scraps, a reminder
that shortly after the show, our podcast will be going up.
So if you've missed any of today's show, which includes
a solution for one of the great debates in all
(01:14:22):
of sports right now, a coach bathing in failure, the
greatest player in the history of a franchise, and Andy
Furman's Belmont pick. If you've missed any of that, be
sure to check out the podcast you search Fox Sports
(01:14:42):
Radio wherever you get your podcast. Be sure to also follow,
rate and review the pod Again. Just search Fox Sports
Radio wherever you get your podcast. You'll see this show
posted right after we get off the air, and I
will tweet out a link to that as well too,
at the Jonas Knox. At the Jonas Knox is where
you can find it. But right now it's time for this.
Speaker 6 (01:15:03):
Jonas. You moron, how could you not get to these stories?
Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
Moron?
Speaker 6 (01:15:08):
These are the scraps.
Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
And for that we turn it over to our executive producer,
Lee de Lapp, who's got the latest that we have
missed in the world of sports and everything else thus far.
Speaker 11 (01:15:18):
Lee Jonas. Earlier in the week you might have missed it,
Deebo Samuel had acknowledged that he had heard the trade
rumors circling around around the time of the draft, and
then that led to another report coming out that Justin
Jefferson was also being not shopped, but definitely being pursued
by the forty nine ers. Forty nine ers definitely trying
to shake things up to the wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (01:15:39):
You know what I love about the forty nine ers.
Anything's possible. Literally, everything's on the table. Like they'll call
about anybody Tom Brady, Like it does not matter if
there's a player that's unhappy or somebody that you know
potentially could be on the move or somebody that might
be going elsewhere, they'll call. They'll at least make a
call and John will tell you, yeah, we made a call.
(01:16:02):
Like they'll admit yeah, certain players on the trade block,
which like and I was mentioned this earlier, like you
know the coup, like the chicag And I'm bringing this
up because I was in Wrigleyville last week, and the
greatest player in the history of the Cubs franchise is
that neighborhood. Like they've got nothing to do with the players. Like,
you go there, it doesn't matter what's happening in the game,
(01:16:22):
that venue, that area, that neighborhood is fantastic. So if
you're a fan and you want to go in it,
and it doesn't matter if your team loses, per se,
it's just being there and being you go to Wrigley Bill.
Like the Cubs have got it figured out. The Niners
have got to figure it out too, because if you're
a fan and say you like buying jerseys, yeah, it
(01:16:43):
probably sucks because you're having to get a new jersey
all the time because they're trading away your best players,
are moving on from your best player or doing this
or doing that. Or there's the potential that Deebo Samuel
could get traded or Brandon Ayuk or whoever. But like,
if you're a fan, all you want is your team
to be totally invested in improving every single year, and
(01:17:03):
the Niners are that in spades. Like they are always
looking to get better, always looking to improve. If it
means knocking on the door making a phone call, you know,
the worst that could happen if somebody says no, they
don't care, They're going to continue to make a call.
So I love what they do. And if I'm a
Niners fan, I couldn't be happier. What else we got?
Speaker 11 (01:17:21):
Leave Jonas Raiders defense van Max Crosby was on the
Jim Rome Show earlier this week and was asked about
whether or not he believes in UFOs.
Speaker 4 (01:17:29):
Take a listen, Oh.
Speaker 9 (01:17:30):
There definitely is. That's not even that's not even a question.
I don't want anybody to come after me, but that's
that's public information. It's real. Like we were literally on
a flight back from Miami and we've seen a UFO
with our own eyes, and that sounds crazy, but you
can ask the pilots, anybody that was there. It was
it was wild and I've seen it and they had
(01:17:51):
no idea what it was. There was nothing on the radar,
nothing and it was like a big shining light going
in and out.
Speaker 1 (01:17:58):
You know. It sucks about UFOs, like it's so obvious
that it's true and it's real now that it's kind
of like yeah, like it was cool or when it
was like, God, did you see one? I don't know there,
are you sure? Like I'm not to but like if
you do it, Like I used to be, I would
like these UFO books. I remember when I was in
elementary school, Like I would rent out all the UFO Bigfoot,
(01:18:21):
you know, like all the conspiracy books, like even when
I was a little kid, because I just thought it
was fascinating, Like, got is there something else out there?
Were not being told everything? Like I just thought it
was fascinating, And like now it's so prevalent and it's
happening so much to where you've got literally like like
pilots under oath that are like, yeah, we saw it,
we have it on film. Yeah, completely downed our radar,
(01:18:43):
like like we felt something. They're going underwater, Like that's
the other thing, Like you got UFOs that are going underwater,
Like I don't know whether or not it's we're involved
or somebody else is involved, and it's not these from
another planet, species or whatever you want to call them.
But it just felt like when there wasn't as much
information and as much footage on it, it was so
much more fun to talk about. You know, like you
(01:19:03):
ever see that movie Fire in the Sky Lee, like
where the loggers, you know, one of them gets abducted
by aliens, Like it's like a totally credible story, but
it was like one of the few, and now there's
so many of them that kind of waters down the
rest of them. Kind of sucks. Like if you haven't
seen Fire in the Sky, you're not really a movie guy.
Just go see Fire in the Sky sometimes.
Speaker 4 (01:19:23):
Okay, let's check by one out.
Speaker 1 (01:19:24):
Yeah yeah, what else we got?
Speaker 4 (01:19:26):
Can't wait till I cufo.
Speaker 11 (01:19:27):
Hey, we had talked about Pat Sajak's last sign off
for the Wheel of Fortune.
Speaker 4 (01:19:32):
Well we got that past us. Are you a price
of price is right?
Speaker 1 (01:19:35):
Fan?
Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:19:39):
Because I'm always really bad at it, because because I
look at what I would pay for something and it's
never as much as what stuff goes for. Well yeah,
I mean like I just I always, I always miss
on it.
Speaker 11 (01:19:50):
Why do you ask, Well, if you know what the
price is, right is and the double showcase win, if
you're within two hundred fifty dollars on the final bid,
you get both showcases well.
Speaker 4 (01:19:59):
In the closest bid ever.
Speaker 11 (01:20:00):
On the final bid of prices, right Man bid thirty
nine thousand, five hundred dollars. The final price was thirty
nine thousand, five hundred and one dollars. He was one
dollars off, got eighty three thousand dollars in prices.
Speaker 1 (01:20:13):
That's what I'm talking about. Way you know, way to
close up strong. That's how you win. A little buddy,
nobody needs a job anymore. Just go on prices right
solves everything.
Speaker 3 (01:20:21):
Shoonas son of a Bitch,
