(01:33):
saw the social media post that was sent out by
Fox Sports Radio letting everybody know that we were dealing
with a potential evacuation situation in and around the studios
in Sherman Oaks, and with the wildfires that started earlier
this week. It's been a real issue and real tragic
(01:56):
for a lot of people, thousands and thousands of people
who either love homes or power or both properties. Some
lost lives. It's just been terrible. And you obviously saw
that the Vikings and the Rams game got moved, and
it wasn't so much that there was a feeling that
maybe Sofi Stadium would be impacted or would get there.
(02:17):
But I can tell you somebody who was at Lax
a couple of times this week, the air quality is awful.
It's awful, and so the idea of playing a game there.
It's not exactly a dome. Look I called the world's
largest gazebo. Like it does get cold at times, like
you know, like it'll the airflow goes in, so there
is an opening there. It's it's a kind of a
(02:39):
weird design, you know. Now, I'm not crazy about it, I'll.
Speaker 5 (02:41):
Be honest with you.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
But point is, the NFL decided, why take any chances
We're going to move the game to Arizona, and look
out here in southern California, you just kind of grow
up with this being a real possibility that there's going
to be fires that the you know, the wind's going
to pick up. They call it the san Ane of winds.
Where I live in Thousand Oaks, Ventura County, we get
(03:03):
rit winds really bad. We were getting wind gusts, you know,
close to eighty miles an hour the other night, knock
the power out, all that stuff. So we're used to
them shutting off the power as a precaution because there's
been so many times throughout the course of my life
that there's been fires that have jumped freeways. And if
there's dry bush and we've had any sort of a
(03:25):
drought or anything like that, it's it's a problem, and
it's it's an issue for a lot of people out here,
and so obviously our thoughts are with everybody out there
who's having to deal with this and go through this.
You see the fire tornadoes on the hills in southern California.
You see all this, and I was under the expectation
driving back from the airport that you know, things were
(03:48):
still going on, but they were trying to avoid the
spread and then you saw that it was jumping the hill.
It's a scary situation. Hope everybody is okay. I mean,
it doesn't help also that we've got you know, scumback
losers and junkies who are either trying to start new
fires and getting caught or trying to steal from people
who have had to evacuate because they feel like this
(04:09):
is the time to strike. So they're all dirt bags
and losers. But you know, part for the course, whenever
there's a tragic event, somebody's trying to capitalize on it.
So all of that being said, we're going to do
our part to try and distract a little bit from
that and talk about a lot of stuff that's happening NFL,
college football, etc. Etc. And the same good time to
(04:30):
be had by all of us here at Fox Sports
Radio to at least keep you distracted a little bit
from the tragic events that are out there, and if
there are any other updates or issues that pop up,
we will let you know here throughout the course of
the show. Now that being said, as we transition over
to sports, there was a college football playoff game last night,
(04:52):
the last of these semi final games. Congratulations to Ohio State.
They beat Texas Sawyer with a strip sack and a
return all the way to the end zone and its
celebration time, and Columbus Texas fans are distraught. They thought
(05:13):
Texas was finally back. They're not. And so all of like,
you're looking at Ohio State and you're like, my god,
based on what we've seen and based on how this
whole thing has played out, they look like they're the
best team in college football. They're a great team. Even
(05:34):
when Texas felt like they had gotten some momentum back
and had tied the game before halftime, the little screen
pass to Hendersondes takes it to the house and you
just saw the air leave the bodies of Texas fans
in that stadium. So you're watching that and you're like,
all right, so we got Ohio State, we got Notre Dame,
and like Notre Dame is a great team. In Ohio
(05:55):
State's like an overwhelming favorite, like close to a double
digit favorite in a national championship game. It's like, man,
Ohio State is the best team in college football. They're
going to win a national championship. And you know the
best part about that it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter.
And here's why, because they've told you it doesn't matter.
(06:22):
I mean, it's clear they've told you. When you lost
to Michigan, you told us everything we needed to know
about the program and what really matters. Like all the
best team in college football, they're dominant. Look what they
did to Texas, and look what they've done all these
(06:44):
other teams. And they're gonna do the same thing in
an Orre Dame maybe. And then all of a sudden,
somebody taps you on your shoulder and says, hey, I
went to Michigan thoughts. You got nothing to say, and
don't blame me, Like, don't blame anybody else who wants
to have this conversation. You started this. You're the one
(07:07):
that put a premium on the loss to Michigan. You
did not us, Like, if you ask me, I look
at it. I go big picture. Hey, you know, if
my team lost to this team, whatever, if we want
a national title, who cares? Then? Like, you haven't played
in weeks, have fun recruiting. Good for you, Oh you
got some big five star recruit. You need a little
(07:29):
more help than that, because you'd be playing in a
national championship game, or you'd be a playoff team if
you had a little more help. That would be my thought,
and in fact, I think that would be the thought
of just about anybody. But Ohio State fans. No, no, no, no, no.
The way that they handle that loss to Michigan, how
(07:51):
distraught they were, the planting of the flag in the
middle of the field. You had a politician trying to
ride it in as a law that it would be
a violation. I think you might have been like a felony,
could have been a misdemeanor. Who cares for the sake
of the take we'll call it a felony, Like you
(08:11):
went so above and beyond and handled that laws so poorly.
I don't want to hear anything about the best team
in college football.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
Yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
You're the one who has said four years now, Ryan
Days gotta go if you can't beat Michigan. This is
like John Cooper all over again. Okay, So I don't
want to hear anybody start all of a sudden coming
around and saying, yeah go buck guys, horseshoes up, Like,
(08:47):
I don't want to hear anything because you told us
weeks ago we were on the air when that game
was playing out, and I remember discussing it on the
as the game was progressing.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
Hey, uh, that.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Stadium feels a little awkward right now, almost like that
fan base was expecting a wipeout. They were a twenty
point favorite around that going into the game, and then
all of a sudden, the game got a little tight
towards the end, and Ohio State fans looked like they
saw a ghost. The problem is, it's the same ghost
who's made himself comfortable and at home the last five years.
(09:28):
The same ghost who doesn't even try and scare you anymore.
He's not like weaving his way through a keyhole or
popping up out of a closet or some toilet somewhere
in the home. No, no, no, no, no no. He's
got his feet up, he's got a beer in one hand,
he's got a giant sandwich in the other. And when
you walk out and you want to call ghostbusters, he says, Oh,
(09:50):
don't worry about it. They ain't showing up. You call
them for five years now, they ain't showing up, not
for you, Like Dave, this is this, this is what
Ohio State has done. They've put such an emphasis on
what happens in that matchup, that to try and all
of a sudden to talk about how great the team.
(10:13):
That's fine, they're a great team. But everything I've been
hearing for years now is none of it matters if
you don't be Michigan. That's what I've been hearing. Ohio
State's the best team in college football right now. I
don't think anybody would dispute that. But Ohio State's like
a model with halatosis. You could be a rocket ship.
(10:37):
You could be on the cover of every magazine, every
ig post. There could be people fainting when you walk by,
and the second you open your mouth, it's like somebody
opened up a can of sardines. None of it matters.
Oh you're a thirty seven out of ten. Well, let's
(11:00):
have a conversation, and the second you go to speak,
people die. They've done this, not me, not you. They're
the ones that have told us this. Ohio State fans
have said this on this network. People who went to
(11:23):
Ohio State have said on the network, Hey, would you
rather lose a national championship or beat Michigan or win
a national championship and lose to Michigan?
Speaker 5 (11:33):
Oh, I'd rather beat Michigan. Yeah, I don't. Yeah, that's
the important one. All right. So I'm watching the celebrations
last night.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
I'm watching everybody happy about what's going I'm hearing it
all and seeing it on I'm just thinking to myself,
but wait a second. You told us for years now,
none of that matters for Ryan Day, like he may
go win a national title. Like the betting on signal
significantly favor Ohio State in this matchup over Notre Dame.
(12:04):
They're going to be the national champion. In fact, they're
going to be the national champions of the first ever
playoff format where you had to actually go through a
little bit of a gauntlet to get to where you are.
And none of it is going to matter. That's what
you've told us to certain Ohio State fans because Michigan's
(12:27):
always going to have that one on you. So look,
I said it a week ago. I've said it. But
when Nick Saban is a critical of Ohio State fans, like, oh, listen,
you've got this game and you could win a national championship,
and they've got some sort of a mental issue with
Michigan and they've got to get over it. And they've
got to complaint. It's like, well, yeah, that's what makes
(12:50):
college football great, that's what makes that rivalry great. But
it doesn't dismiss the fact that's a real thing what
he said. And they're an Ohio State fans who are
going to come away from this game. If they go
out and they do what the betting odds would say
and they beat Notre Dame, there are going to be
Ohio State fans who are still not going to feel
(13:11):
great about things. They're still going to look at it
and go, man, great season, national champions but god, Ryan
Day national championship as a head coach here in Ohio State,
go but oh Man, you got to check her out.
She got everything, brains, personality, but all of it. I mean,
(13:34):
we're talking like the hottest thing in the world, and
the second she opens her mouth, it's raining cod. I
didn't do this. They did it. So it is a
little funny to see all the other discussions and how
great they are and the celebrate. You've been telling us
(13:55):
everything for the past four or five years now. So
they are a great team. They're a wonderful team. But
it doesn't it doesn't fix the fact that it smells
like you've been brushing your teeth with trout for the
last four or five years. I'm just saying, Jonas Knox
(14:17):
here Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox on X
at the Jonas Knox on X. All right, so we
are going to have the usuals coming up later on. Now,
it is a four hour edition of the show, so
we might dust off some oldies, but goodies like the
scraps to close up shop. You're here an hour four
of the show. We're also going to have another edition
of Do You Care and later on this hour. There's
(14:39):
been several sports stories that you've been force fed throughout
the past several days. Here SORR, We're going to tell
you whether or not they actually matter. We're also going
to have another edition of Knox Locks, the playoff edition
of Knox Locks. As we get you set for wild
Card weekend in the NFL, We're going to have a
follow up as to how we finished off on the season,
which is really show up a lot of people out there,
(15:01):
a lot of criticism out there. It is all yours
here for the next four hours here from the tire
rac dot Com studios. But apparently there is a situation
in the NFL that is so much better than you realize.
That Hall of famers want to be a part of it.
(15:22):
Find out what.
Speaker 5 (15:23):
It is next.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
We don't need to bring Jonas in.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Coming up in about ten
minutes from now here from the tire rac dot com studios.
We had an update on a quarterback in the NFL,
and uh, it is expected. It is expected. I mean,
based on recent history, this is pretty much what you
would expect involving this quarter back in the National Football League.
(16:01):
We'll have that for you again coming up here ten
minutes from now here on FSR. All right, so we
are going to go through some things that are out
there in the news, and we are going to follow
up these headlines in the news with a very simple
question afterwards.
Speaker 5 (16:18):
All right, So let's do this all.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Right all together? Now, all right, So let's go ahead
and let's rattle off.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
What we are hearing.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
All right, So, now here is the latest number one
from Vinnie Bonsignor that Dion Sanders has interest in the
Raiders head coaching vacancy. All right, So that is according
to Vinnie Bonsignor that people close to Dion Sanders says
(16:48):
that he has expressed interest in the Raiders head coaching job. Okay,
all right, I mean that's say. I mean, look, I'd
love to see Dion coach at the NFL level. I mean,
you could say whatever you want about the guy. He's
had success everywhere he's gone. He may not win a
national title Colorado, but he has turned around the program.
(17:11):
He does bring some energy, some buzz, and he has
started a little bit of a trend where former players
are now like, hey, I think I could do that.
So Dion has put the time in and that is
the first of these stories.
Speaker 5 (17:26):
Now on to number two.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Number two that Tom Brady has been pushing for Ben
Johnson's agent to convince his client to want to take
an interview for the Raiders head coaching job. That Tom
Brady is very interested in Ben Johnson as a coach.
(17:52):
He's intrigued by the idea of having Ben Johnson as
the coach there in Las Vegas. And so Tom Brady's
really been wishing for Ben Johnson to get the gig.
So that is number two, next up and the final one,
number three, Number three that apparently Bill Belichick and Tom
(18:16):
Brady reuniting in Vegas not quite there yet. Doesn't mean
it's a no, but that their relationship, according to Mike
Florio and his sources, is not at the point to
where it's totally repaired to where those two could work together.
But as you can see, a lot of buzz around
(18:37):
the Raiders head coaching job right, a lot of buzz there.
Like you've got Belichick as a possibility although him and
Brady got to work on their relationship. You got Tom
Brady being very intrigued by Ben Johnson, who's maybe the
hottest candidate on the open market. And then you've got
Dion Sanders having real interest in the Raiders head coaching job.
(19:01):
According to Vinnie Bonsignor, so all of those three greatest
coach of all time, hottest prospect in the NFL, and
the most popular and talked about name maybe anywhere in
football when it comes to a head coach, all of
which are tied in some way to the Raiders head
coaching job. And it begs one question, why I don't
(19:28):
get it. I don't get it. Look, I listen. It's
not a knock on the history of the Raiders organization.
I've said it from day one. The Autumn Wind is
maybe the greatest song in the history of sports. There's
(19:52):
some other candidates out there, but as far as team songs,
the Autumn Wind is tremendous. But the Autumn Wind has
of late has been like you know, some guy cutting
a fart on a subway, Like it just hasn't really
been anything close to representative of what the history.
Speaker 5 (20:11):
Of the organization is.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
This is a week of devastation for me. A week
have about a couple of decades now, I mean it's
been Look, but here's my and just talking as far
as right now present day with the Raiders, like why
if you're looking around at at other opportunities and other
(20:34):
situations in the NFL, almost all of them have something
to offer in the way of a plan at quarterback,
like something that's there over the next several years. Like
you can not be a believer in Caleb Williams and
(20:56):
also acknowledge it, like yeah, but like he did show
some stuff there where you look at it and go
all right, I could work with that. I could build
around that, like people will make you think that he
was way worse than he actually was. And then you
start doing like the side by side between him and
Jade and Daniels, and you, oh, I see what happens here?
You know, media likes one they play and fay, Okay,
I got it, got it fair enough, But there's at
(21:17):
least something there like you just like you go over
like the Patriots, you go, you look at Drake Maye
and you go, hey, he showed you something, like there's
at least like you look at the Raiders and I go,
like the Jags have Trevor Lawrence and say what you
want about him, but at least there's kind of like
a plan with the Raiders. It's what and it's why
(21:41):
I said, Look, I think Antonio Peers and Tom Tellesco
should have both been given another year personally, because I
don't know.
Speaker 5 (21:49):
What you were expecting.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
With that team in that division, with the moves that
you made in recent years. I really don't know what
you were expecting. Honestly, I don't get it. Like Derek
Carr was a serviceable quarterback, like he in bordering on
good at times, and you couldn't wait to get rid
(22:13):
of him, Okay for what like, what was the plan?
And I just have to get out of that contract.
Got to move on from Okay, and then what like
Davante Adams, You're ruined that because you brought him in.
He was thinking, Okay, I'm gonna be here and I'm
(22:35):
gonna play with my best friend and this is gonna
be great and all that, and you know, love it
and he's like and then you move on from Derek
Carr and you kind of, you know, sever that relationship
with Davante Adams. Josh Jacobs was a very good running back,
still a very good running back. You couldn't pay him.
(22:57):
You decided there was no value in that. And he
has since gone on to have a Pro Bowl year
and a monster year for the Packers and going to
be a Creek key ingredient to if they have success
in the postseeds. Like, there's just been several moves out
there that they've made that I don't know how you
were expecting better results, especially in that division. And that
(23:18):
was before Jim Harbaugh signed on to be coach of
the Chargers and Bo Nicks turned out to be a
really good rookie quarterback and having a promising future that
was before that, Like there was a window of opportunity
there for the Raiders where yeah, you had Patrick Mahomes,
but man, the Chargers couldn't figure it out. Like there
(23:40):
were people talking about Justin Herbert being a bust and
they paid him too soon. And Brandon's I mean you
had Brandon State. Like remember when Denver went out and
got Russell Wilson it was called one of the worst
moves in the history of the NFL and all that,
Like there was an opportunity, Like there was a window there,
Like you could have had Jim Harbaugh as your co which,
(24:02):
like he was interested. That was one of its interested spots,
like the Raiders and the Bears. The Bears drafted him.
The Raiders is where he started his coaching career, Like
like that was there, they didn't do it. And like
I like Mark Davis. I think he's fun for the league.
I like the fact that the Raiders are in Vegas,
Like you go to that, like they've really rallied around
(24:24):
that team and that franchise.
Speaker 5 (24:26):
It's awesome. But there have been so many moves over.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
The past few years that you look at and go
so what were you expecting to happen on the back
end of that? And when you've got all of these
names that are out there, like hey Belichick maybe in Vegas. Okay,
what's the planet quarterback? Hey Ben Johnson maybe in Vegas? Okay,
what's the planet quarterback? Hey Dion Sanders might have some
(24:53):
serious interest in the Raiders? Okay, what's the planet quarterback?
Speaker 5 (24:57):
Why are they?
Speaker 3 (25:00):
Are they trading up? Are they making a move?
Speaker 6 (25:04):
Like?
Speaker 3 (25:04):
Is there? Like even I mean Antonio Pierce said it
last year, like, yeah, he wanted Jayden Daniels. That was
his one, Like he coached him, he knew the kid.
He wanted Jayden Daniels. Obviously Washington wasn't going to trade
out of that, Okay, But could you have made a
move up in the draft elsewhere? Like Michael Pennix Junior
(25:26):
was there, Bo Nicks was there. JJ McCarthy was there. Look,
that's why I threw out the idea of, like, hey man,
maybe if Sam Darnold lights it up in the postseason
and the Vikings decided to stick with him long term,
maybe you make a move and you bring in JJ McCarthy.
But there's all of these other moves that have to
be made in order for you to go. Okay, now
(25:46):
we have a clear understanding as to what's happening, But
how do you have any faith in that organization making
those moves when you've got a succession of moves they've
made over the past few years that we know of
that if not worked out.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
So it's just kind of odd that, like.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
All of these names are being thrown out there and
tied to the Raiders, and I'm looking at it going like,
what do you have to offer? Like you need a
quick in that division? You say whatever you want about
the Jaguars job. Man, that's a winnable division. It ain't
like Houston's the same Houston from a year ago, and
they want it like you could say whatever you want
(26:26):
the Bears, Like there's a lot of talent there. They
just you know, they gotta fix it on line, but
there's like real talent. Like you can look around in
the NFL and you can see of these openings. Man,
that's a good roster. They got this, They got that
to offer, And like you look at the Raiders and go,
I just don't know what the plan. I don't know
what the appeal would be other than we got rid
(26:49):
of head coach and GM and you can build it
exactly how you want, and we're gonna give you enough
wiggle room to try and do it. Other than that,
I just don't know what the plan is A quarterback.
Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox
at the Jonas Knox and X all right, it's coming
up next hear from the tire Raq dot com studios.
It is the latest development in a typical development involving
(27:12):
one quarterback in the NFL, as you would expect. That'll
be yours here on Fox Sports Radio. But right now,
for all the latest from around the world of sports,
make some noise for the one for the only.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
She's Monzi Malion. Take you on, Jonah, Yeah, what am I?
How are you?
Speaker 3 (27:39):
How are we feeling? You know?
Speaker 5 (27:41):
It's it's a weird time, right, it's a weird time.
Speaker 7 (27:45):
But I am safe and happy to be here hanging
out with you and getting to you know, just trying
to feel a little bit of normalcy, even though nothing
is normal around us.
Speaker 5 (27:56):
Yeah, I can can we be honest?
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Kind of a subpar performance on that first I got it.
Speaker 8 (28:02):
It's good.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
We got four chances, so we got three more to
perfect it.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
But I saw, yeah, listen, Steve, we will. But you
got to understand something like it's not like you were, like,
you know, professionals here. We were first team. We didn't
get a preseason, did not threw us in Week one.
It's gonna be a little rusty.
Speaker 5 (28:20):
Literally threw us in.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
Yeah, next hour, we're gonna be fine.
Speaker 5 (28:23):
Yeah, exactly, exactly. Well.
Speaker 6 (28:27):
The NFL playoffs start today, Jonas with the AFC Wall
Card round. It all starts from Houston, Texans hosting the Chargers.
I'm wearing my Justin Herbert jersey and say it all
starts at four thirty Eastern, then at eighty, so it's
the Ravens and the Steelers. No surprise wide receivers, a
Flowers out for Baltimore with that knee injury, and a
bunch of people interviewing for those head coaching vacancies, like
(28:50):
Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson apparently interviewed virtually with the
Raiders yesterday and he has the Bears and the Jaguars today.
Former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll will inter with the Raiders
on Monday for their head coaching vacancy. All this stuff happening.
Three games in the NBA have been postponed. The Rockets
Hawks game in Atlanta has been postponed. We're having fires
(29:10):
over there. Over here. Over there, apparently they're having like
a snowstorm, so that game has been postponed. Both LA
games here Lakers, Furs, Flippers, Hornets have been postponed and
no date yet, no date yet as to when they're
going to actually play them. We've got a full slate
of college hoops going on. Number two Auburn beating South
Carolina fifty five to fifty three halfway through the second half,
(29:34):
Texas Tech up on number three Iowa State twenty six
sixteen seven minutes to go in the first half, Number
nine Yukon beating Georgetown fifteen thirteen halfway through the first half.
Speaker 5 (29:44):
Cincinnati is beating number eleven Kansas.
Speaker 6 (29:46):
Twenty five to twenty two with one minute to go
in the first half, and number nineteen Memphis on top
of East Carolina twenty three to nine, six minutes to
go in the first half of that one, usc with
an eighty two to seventy two upset over number thirteen Illinois,
and number four Duke just defeated Notre Dame eighty six
to seventy eight. Freshman Cooper Flag becomes the youngest player
(30:06):
in n c A history to have a game with
more than forty points. He ended with forty two and
seven assists in the win. And we've also got a
hockey game going on right now, Jonas Bruins and Panthers.
I know they're tied at one apiece with about seven
minutes to go in the second period.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
Happy to be here, Jonas, back to.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
You, Yeah, all right, yeah, listen, we are happy to
have Manci, We're happy to be on the air, and
we were happy to do it all live here from
the ti iraq dot com studio.
Speaker 5 (30:34):
That's good, right, he likes it like that.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
It's just like this, uh like every time, Like I
don't even know if you recall doing that on the air, Moss.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
I mean I think it was during the odd couple.
Speaker 6 (30:50):
I was like yeah, and then finally Alex like saved it.
And then sometimes I do it and it's like is
that the recording or is that you It's like that's
the question.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
That's the problem. Like when you turn when you hand
the wheel over to the to the savages and hooligans
that are running the board.
Speaker 5 (31:06):
Oh you never know. Oh, but they'll say my fat stuff.
Speaker 3 (31:09):
They'll they'll throw stuff out there, like I don't even
remember some of the stuff that I'll say that they'll
play drops of and I'm like, when did I Why
would I ever say that? Like, there's a drop my.
Speaker 9 (31:19):
Ole balls are equal?
Speaker 5 (31:21):
They're not, they're not.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
Yeah, I don't even know what that was in reference
to my back is drenched in sweat.
Speaker 5 (31:27):
Somebody's got to figure it out, all right, because.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
We had we had an ac issue in the studio
and uh, and everyone was kind of shut. My favorite
is the Uh, there's one from Mike North, which I
don't know.
Speaker 9 (31:43):
I don't know If I can play this then you can.
Speaker 5 (31:47):
Why not?
Speaker 3 (31:48):
There's a there's one from Mike North that's my favorite,
and then the other is from Rob Parker. Like those
are my two favorites.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
I think I'm a woman that one.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Yeah, that one so good.
Speaker 10 (31:58):
I'm a woman, Like I What about Rob Parker's turkey call?
That one's really good too.
Speaker 5 (32:03):
That Yeah.
Speaker 6 (32:03):
When I found out that he was doing a turkey noise,
I was like, that's what that was.
Speaker 9 (32:07):
Oh, I miss that.
Speaker 8 (32:08):
You gotta have the bones, you gotta have the structure.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
I remember that him and I were arguing about wings,
buffalo wings versus boneless wings, and so that was a
debate we were having. And then the Mike North one
in this it's the this guy's uh and you fell
in the blank from there, Chris, I don't know if
you remember that one.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
You recall that one?
Speaker 11 (32:29):
I think I do know that one might be lost
in the Andy Frok.
Speaker 3 (32:33):
It's in there, No, no, it's in there. It's this
Mike North was discussing. There was a story on the
air about I don't even want to name the player,
but this player was causing a problem and was like
threatening people and Mike North called him a terrorist.
Speaker 5 (32:54):
I'm checked up about it.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
It's so ridiculous, but it was like, in context of
the conversation, have made some sense. But you know, yes
it is, I made it. Why long? It's just so
that being said, that is the you know, that's an
update on the drop list that we've got here on
Fox Sports Radio. All right, so Jonas Knox here on

Speaker 2 (34:47):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time
DMG reports. Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big
stories from the last week. But Jonas, the real question
is do you care?
Speaker 3 (35:02):
Yeah. For that, we turn it over to our executive producer,
Patrick sweek and to find out what the hell people
have been talking about all week.
Speaker 10 (35:07):
Pat Well, I'll tell you one thing, Jonas, that I
really care about. We're gonna talk about this one first.
Do you care, though, Jonas, that Yankee fan, the Yankee
fans that tried to and I'm gonna put my personal
take on this rip, Mookie Betts's arm off are now
being banned from ever intending an MLB game at least indefinitely.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Do you care about that?
Speaker 2 (35:26):
No?
Speaker 5 (35:26):
I don't care. This is so dumb. I don't care.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
By the way you mean to tell me they couldn't
put a disguise on and get back into a.
Speaker 5 (35:32):
Game, like they couldn't go. And I got news for you.
Speaker 3 (35:37):
If you're the Tampa Bay Rays, if you're the Pittsburgh Pirates,
if you're one of these teams that draw flies, you'll
take whoever shows up at the gate. So if this
guy walks up with a picture of himself in the
same outfit trying to remove the arm of Mookie Bets
(35:58):
off his Torso if he's he shows up at your
gate at some of these parks, they will let him in.
They will buy him a couple of rounds, and they
will see him right next to the wall. Like you'll
take whatever you can get. So this idea, like, oh,
you're never coming back to it. It's okay, I get it.
Guy was a bit of a clown. He got a
little bit over his skis. He decided he wanted to
(36:19):
interject himself. But this idea that Major League Baseball is
going to put their foot down, you'll never be seen
at a ballpark again. My ass that guy'll be back
next all.
Speaker 10 (36:28):
Right, jonas well Zion Williamson was reportedly late to his
team flight a few days ago and.
Speaker 8 (36:35):
Was suspended one game for his tardiness. Do you care?
Speaker 5 (36:39):
Yeah, I do. I think it's hilarious.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
I love it. So I think it's hilarious. It's just
the lack of accountability and just just the lack of
self awareness for Zion Williamson to be like, Hey, you know,
there's kind of this narrative on me that I'm a
bit lazy and they can't really depend on me, and
they've already paid me a bunch of money, and I'm
really talented, but you know, I can't really get in
shape and I'm injury prone. And he finally gets back
(37:04):
from an injury and then not only was he like
late to a team flight, apparently he showed up late
to practices he missed like that sort of So like
limited self awareness, I find hilarious. I'm sorry. Like the
fact that he doesn't see it himself, that that's a
problem is funny to me. And if nobody else wants
(37:26):
to laugh, I think it's funny. Let me be the one.
But I think that's that's comedy at its best. It's
Ion Williamson doesn't get it to this point.
Speaker 10 (37:33):
Next, all right, jonas Well, let's go to college football here,
do you care that now ex Georgia quarterback Carson Beck
he decided to declare for the draft. Well, now he's
swerving to go back to playing and transfer to Miami.
Speaker 8 (37:47):
He wants to play one more year. Do you care?
Speaker 5 (37:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (37:49):
I mean it's good good for him. I think he's
getting like four million dollars in nil money or something
like that. I mean, who knows if that's an actual number,
but that was one of the things that I saw
reported out there, like and listen, you know he wants
go play another year. Cam McCormick just finished up his
ninth year at Miami. And I'm not making that up.
Like Cam McCormick was in Justin Herbert's recruiting class at Oregon.
(38:14):
Justin Herbert's like forty three at this point, and that
guy just finished up his final year of eligibility at Miami.
So Carson Beck probably looks at it and says, Hey,
that guy can hang out in Miami and have a
good time. Why can't I next?
Speaker 5 (38:26):
All right?
Speaker 10 (38:26):
Jonas well, there is a stuntman Jonas. He's known as
and I quote the drill Man, and he earned the
world record for stopping electric fans with his tongue in
one minute and it was fifty seven fans.
Speaker 8 (38:42):
By the way, do you care?
Speaker 5 (38:45):
No, this guy's such a loser.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Hey hate this look and look I shouldn't call names,
But at what point are you like, you know what, man,
I got nothing better to do? They can I borrow
an electric fan? Like when do you discover that as
a skill set? Like I'm just trying to like figure out,
(39:08):
like because I can understand. Like, look, you walk by
like some of these like Pokemon shops and places like that,
and people are like collecting cards and they're playing like
Magic the Gathering and all these other like dungeons and dragons,
and you walk by and go, oh, you know some geeks.
That's fine. Like you know, you see one, like you know,
two or three of them, you know, at the same
table picking their nose and wiping it on their cargo shorts.
(39:30):
Like list that's fine. But you know, like again, it's
like a community thing.
Speaker 8 (39:35):
Who the hell.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
You finding to hang out and say? Hey, man, want
to stop electric fans with your tongue? You know, I mean,
like what a loser? I'm sorry, Like even like you know,
you know people that are like you know, like like gangbangers.
At least they've got friends. This guy's got no friends. Like, hey,
we're what's so and so up.
Speaker 5 (39:57):
To these days?
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (39:59):
You know him?
Speaker 3 (40:00):
No, I don't.
Speaker 5 (40:01):
Actually, what's the up to? You haven't seen him lately?
Speaker 12 (40:03):
No?
Speaker 3 (40:03):
Yeah, mean neither? Why not? Well, because I'm not really
into stopping electric fans with my tongue. Oh my god,
but I listened. Give him credit, he found his lane.
Give him credit, he found the path that he wanted
to carve out for himself. But that's like a guy
next to you going, hey, man, my specialty is crapping
(40:24):
myself and not changing my pants afterwards, Like, come on, dude,
get a gree Well, it's just, you know, basically, the
latest development and what you would expect to be the
latest development for one quarterback in the NFL. We'll discuss
coming up here in just a couple of moments from now.
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. You can listen to this
show as always on the iHeartRadio app. You can find
(40:48):
us on hundreds of affiliates all across the country and
wherever you are, making us a part of your Saturday

in Hawaii, and they're listening on the Blowtorch Hawaii of
the Hawaiian Islands, Fox Sports nine ninety But we are
doing it all live here, a special foot four edition
(41:08):

six Eastern time three pm Pacific right here, and we're

rack dot com. We'll help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road aser protection at over ten thousand
recommended installers, tire rack dot com. The way tire buying
should be, By the way. Some guy just wrote in
(41:29):
and said they cancel everyone else's show, but don't care
if you're in danger. It's a fair point.
Speaker 5 (41:38):
Hey, you know.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
The things you learn in trying times.
Speaker 5 (41:45):
But we will now.
Speaker 3 (41:48):
Transition over to a team that's got their own trying times,
Ladies and gentlemen, the Cleveland Browns. If you were wondering
what the next chapter of the worst transaction slash acquisition
(42:11):
in the history of the NFL was, it's the fact
that Deshaun Watson is now set to have another surgery
on his achilles. He suffered a setback. Andrew Berry, the
GM of the Cleveland Browns spoke about that at the
end of season press conference he had and said, hey,
(42:33):
you know, Deshaun suffered a little bit of a setback.
We're just kind of monitoring it to see what the
next steps are going to be. And as it happened,
he's going to have another surgery and so that'll be
surgery too, and now puts the entire next season in jeopardy. Now,
the question becomes can they get out of it? The Browns,
(42:53):
meaning can they find him in violation of his contract?
Because was he doing something that is forbidden in his contract?
And is there language in the contract pointing to you
can't do this, you know, play basketball, skydiving, whatever it is,
(43:13):
And maybe he did it and that's how he reaggravated
the injury. So maybe they can get out of the
ninety two million dollars left on the like whatever he listen,
they're going to try. They're going to look into this
and see what they can do. Apparently there's some stuff
on social media that Deshaun Wasaston's and posted that it
shows him not in a walking boot and should he
(43:35):
have had a walking boot. Now I wouldn't know that
those are posted because he's blocked me on social media
and that's been the case for a couple of years now, Okay,
and I'm not making that up. That is a real thing.
Like so I am blocked. I cannot see what he
has posted on social media, you know, like that's that
(43:59):
is true. That's that's a real thing. And this goes
This is way before all the massage Watson stuff came
out like way before, like this was you know, me
being critical of his handling of his time and departure
in Houston and all that. Like this is way before that.
But you know, maybe the Browns are going to look
into this and they're going to see whether or not
they can get out of the deal and if they
(44:19):
can or what. But listen, that's fine. The problem with
this whole situation is not so much with Deshaun Watson
because the two people that are responsible for this quote
unquote marriage which look, I mean, like you can be
(44:41):
judgmental of the contract or whatnot, Like Deshaun Watson took
the best deal in the history of the NFL. You
can't blame the guy. But like, the two people were
responsible for this are Deshaun Watson and Jimmy has them
the owner. They're the ones that made this work, like
(45:04):
they're the ones responsible for this marriage. And again I
don't fault Deshaun Watson for taking the contract. Who wouldn't
wait a second You're gonna give me fully guaranteed money
and I'm not playing in the NBA or Major League based. Okay, Yeah,
y'all come to Cleveland. Like we've like gone over how
(45:25):
that whole thing happened. You know, multiple times on this show,
he was set to go to Atlanta like the Falcons.
That was you know, sign sealed and delivered, like he
had a jersey and everything. And then the Browns got
desperate because they burned the bridge with Baker Mayfield and
they decided we needed to go over the top in
an offer and give him something he couldn't refuse, and
they did so, and he didn't refuse it. And I
(45:47):
don't blame the guy for it, but Jimmy has them
and Deshaun Watson are responsible for this, and it's them alone,
they're responsible, but it's everybody else who's going to suffer
because of it, and already has. Andrew Berry has built
a very good roster, like he's done a hell of
(46:09):
a job. But because of this that the owner wanted
and the quarterback obliged. They've been put in a difficult
spot ever since he's gotten there. And yet they're the ones,
Andrew Berry Kevin Stefanski who have had to speak publicly
about it more so than the owner who wanted this
(46:32):
to happen and signed off on it as the entire
time that Deshaun Watson has been there. So Andrew Berry
is going to suffer because of this. Kevin Stefanski is
going to suffer because of this. You know what we
know about Kevin Stefanski. He's won Coach of the Year
twice and he's done it with quarterbacks not named Deshaun Watson.
(46:56):
So he's not the problem. Like he can coach like
we've seen it. We've got moremultiple cases of it, like look,
Brown's won a playoff game. They were in the playoffs
last year with Joe Flacco, like we've seen it now,
even though Kevin Stefanski wasn't on the sideline for that
playoff win because he had COVID and that was back
during that whole weird time. The point is Kevin Stefanski
(47:16):
can coach like we've seen. He's done wonders with other
quarterbacks not named Deshaun Watson. But Deshaun Watson hasn't been
able to stay healthy or like not get suspended for
eleven games. So Kevin Stefanski, he's the one who's gonna
have to suffer because of it. And I got news
for you. The fact that Kevin stefanski job job was
even in jeopardy or even thought to be in jeopardy
(47:40):
this past offseason or this offseason or the year. The
fact that that was even a possibility or a thought
shows you what a disaster this has been. Like, think
about how many players there within the Browns organization who
have had to suffer and they're the ones having to
feel the wrath because of this terrible contract, whether it's
you know, guys at have done it the right way,
(48:00):
like a Nick Chubb, Miles Garrett is putting together a
Hall of Fame career, and even he's like, dude, I
need to know what the plan is here because this
is this is turning into we're just a bad organization
and we're going to continue to lose games. Like look
at the fans, Like how many Cleveland Browns fans are
looking around going I didn't really like the deal to
(48:22):
start with, and I especially don't like the deal now.
Like you kind of like when the move was announced,
when the deal was signed and the trade was made,
you got kind of a like a weird vibe about it.
Really knowing all that we know, this is where we're going,
like knowing all that we know. And then what makes
(48:44):
it even worse is the fact that the places that
the Browns and Deshaun Watson left are both playing in
another playoff game this weekend.
Speaker 5 (48:59):
Second year in a row.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
Oh you couldn't wait to get rid of Baker Mayfield
had to go move on. He's been one of the
better quarterbacks in the NFL this year. He's in the
playoffs again in Tampa. They love the guy, they love him.
He's been fantastic. Deshaun Watson's ex the Houston Texans, Oh
(49:23):
you know, hha, no big deal, just another playoff appearance.
Say whatever you want about the Texans. But so it's
like you look at the situation and you go, well,
of course this is the next chapter of it. Because
it's the worst acquisition transaction in the history of the NFL,
and it's not close. I mentioned the Russell Wilson Denver
(49:43):
Broncos union that took place that what everyone thought was
a total I mean, you talk about a mess and
one of the worst ever. It's like, yeah, well that
was like a bad one, but you know, both seem
to have recovered and like found happy places, you know,
like it seemed like it you know, it ended up
working out. This one has been a complete and total
(50:04):
failure for the Cleveland Browns, Like absolute failure. It felt
awkward from the get go, It felt weird and dirty
from the get go, and now him having another surgery,
they're gonna have to investigate whether or not, like he
he breached his contract and was doing something he shouldn't
have been doing and that's why he suffered the injury.
And he wasn't wearing a walking boot. And there's social
(50:25):
media like come on, dude, like it like you cannot
with anymore on a deal than the Browns did with
this Deshaun Watson stuff.
Speaker 5 (50:35):
It is.
Speaker 3 (50:35):
It been a full fledged five star disaster for the
Cleveland Browns, And so of course this would be the
next step in the story. They should, I swear and
I've said this before, there needs to be a documentary
done or a study done on how a move that
(50:56):
was risky to begin with could pan out any worse
than this one has for the Cleveland Browns awful awful situation.
And yet to my previous point, the two people who
were responsible for it are Deshaun Watson and Jimmy Haslm,
and they're the two people who will feel the least
amount of it because he's getting paid and Jimmy Haslm's
(51:18):
made a bunch of money since he's been there because
he's an owner of an NFL team. At the Jonas
Knocks on X at the Jonas Knox on X by
the way, a guy wrote in on Twitter a short
time ago. Rob wrote in, Hey, quick question, is there
anyone that sends in tweets that say nice things about
(51:40):
you and the show? I find the tweets funny, but
some of these cats go harden the pain. The answer
to that would be no, And if they are, I
don't see a lot of them, Like Jason who wrote
in and said this third bleep bleep Jonas Knox makes
d bag Ryan Day look somewhat likable and tolerable. You
(52:02):
bleepwod at the Jonas Knocks and X at the Jonas
Knox and x is where you can find all of that,
as we give you an extra couple hours to come
up with the good, more offensive stuff here as we
are going to take you all the way up until
six pm Eastern time, three o'clock Pacific. Up next here though,
from the tire rack dot Com studios, there's a move
(52:24):
that seems like it's going to happen in the NFL.
It looks like it's a foregone conclusion. I am hoping
that it doesn't, and I'll tell you why. Next Jones
is Couna Today, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio, coming up
and we'll call it a little over ten minutes from
now here from the tire rack dot Com studios, the
(52:47):
NFL is using the whole perceived gift move. It's called
a perceived gift, all right, So we will explain what
that is. Coming up here a little over ten minutes
from now from the IRAQ dot com studios. It's kind
of interesting, you know, you know, I mean, good riddance,
I get the move, but you know, kind of interesting.
(53:08):
So we'll see, we'll see if anybody else catches on
to that here coming up again about ten minutes from now.
Apparently this is a foregone conclusion. Mike Rabel's probably going
to get the Patriots job. Ian Rappaport reported earlier that
(53:30):
overwhelming favorite, there's this feeling. Tom Pellasero also said that
they were having contract talks, that they're having contract discussions
with Mike Frable's agent and at all of that, and
so apparently that is the foregone conclusion that Mike Rabel's
(53:50):
going to get the Patriots job. Now, I personally am
hoping that that doesn't happen because I don't want to
reward Robert Kraft for lying. And I know what you're
thinking here. Look, you just spoke about Deshaun Watson. Now
(54:12):
you're talking about Robert Craft. Is this like the all
massage parlor half hour of the show. No, it's not.
But I can't let their extracurriculars dictate what we're going
to discuss here on the show. We refuse to let
those guys try and steer our show. We refuse to
(54:36):
let them be have any say in the content and
the structure of this show, right like they you know, what,
do you think this is someplace in an industrial area
of town that's got a neon foot in the front window.
It's got to stop. The point is Robert Craft lied
(55:02):
earlier this week, which is not the first time Robert
Kraft has lied recently. Here, he was discussing his decision
to fire head coach Gerard Mayo after just one season.
This whole situation is on me. I feel terrible for.
Speaker 13 (55:23):
Girard because I put him in an untenable situation. I
know that he has all the tools as a head
coach to be successful in this league. He just needed
more time before taking the job. It was very hard
because the personal relationship I feel for Girard and the
(55:45):
human being he is, and I felt guilty I put
him in that position.
Speaker 3 (55:51):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, okay, And I had
no say. And the content that was in the Tom
Brady Patriots documentary we did, even though it's my production
company who was in the credits at the end. Yeah yeah, yeah,
we got it, We got it. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (56:10):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (56:11):
I would never tell anybody not to hire Bill Belichick,
even though you kind of torpedoed all his efforts to
get a job last offseason and told teams not to
hire him and blah blah blah blah blah. It's okay, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, dude,
cut the crap. You fired Girod Mayo because Mike Rable
(56:32):
was available, That's why you made him. Which you could
look at that and go, wasn't he available last year? True,
but it was already written in the contract of Girod
Mayo that he was going to be the coach in
waiting already if Mike Vrabel is not available this year
(56:57):
this offseason, I don't think Girod Mayo gets fired.
Speaker 5 (57:02):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
I'm just I don't.
Speaker 5 (57:05):
Think it because Robert Craft would basically have to go.
Speaker 3 (57:09):
Up back on his word and say, oh, I'm just
you know, it's I just felt like I put him
in such a bad spot and I felt like it,
like what.
Speaker 5 (57:16):
Do you what did you expect?
Speaker 3 (57:21):
Like that's like, look, what were the expectations, Like what
did you think you were going to get this year
from that team?
Speaker 5 (57:30):
And I'm not sitting here saying Girod Mayo did a
bang up job, Like.
Speaker 3 (57:33):
Clearly there were issues there, clearly flawed. We got it.
Like I remember thinking it was weird during the off
season when Girod Mayo said that Drake may was out
playing Jacoby Brissett, but that Jacoby Brissett was the starting quarterback.
It's like, wait, what really, you know they called his
(57:53):
team soft and like questioned me and like look, and
jirod Mayo at one point he said something along the
lines of, man, I'm trying to get used to all
this myself too, like I'm trying to get to you.
Speaker 5 (58:03):
So like clearly like it.
Speaker 3 (58:05):
There were some growing pains there, no doubt about it.
Like Robert Kraft comes out afterwards and he's so kind
and talks about all I put him in such a
bad spot and this is totally my fault. And you know,
I put him in an untenable situation and I put okay,
and and and you did it because you Mike Rabel's available.
Speaker 5 (58:25):
That's why.
Speaker 3 (58:27):
So I look at it. I go, I hope Rabel
doesn't take the job. I think he's going to. I
think it's basically a done deal. They're just got to
work out a contract. But it's just such crap, Like
I don't like it's the same like with the Raiders show,
Like I don't know, like, what what did you think
this year was going to be? And how much different
(58:48):
was it actually than you thought it was going to be?
Like really, but like how much? Like what what else?
And like, people, I want to point you out, what
was really you know, like the last month of the season. Man,
that last month of the season for the Patriots, that's
really what made the decision that they had to move on.
(59:10):
You know, it was all about that last one. Okay,
all right, so let's play that game. Let's go look
at the last month of the season. All right, Let's
just let's play the game. They went one in three
their last four games. Three of those four games were
against playoff teams, two against the Bills, won against the Chargers. Now,
(59:31):
the Chargers game happened while we were on the air
a couple of weeks ago, and there's no look, you
can call whatever you want, LA whooped their ass the
entire game, Like, there's no like that that's fair. But
you were competitive in that first game against the Bills.
We got it. The Bills rested their starters in Week eight, team,
we got all that. If you were competitive first game
(59:53):
against the Bills, and like they were competitive the charge
you know, the Cardinals game before the it's like I
just I look at it and go, man, like what
did you actually think this year was going to be?
And whatever your reasoning and justification were for firing girod mail, Like,
come on, dude, Mike Rable's available, and you wanted to
(01:00:14):
hire Mike Rabel.
Speaker 5 (01:00:15):
That's it.
Speaker 3 (01:00:16):
That's why. Like you had Girrod Mayo as the coach
in waiting. You couldn't wait to get rid of Bill
Belichick last year. You couldn't. You had the plan, and
you had all this stuff. And like the more you
find out about like you know, Robert Kraft and his insecurity,
about the organization and his role in the organization, and
(01:00:37):
he's upset because he's still not in the Hall of
Fame and no one can figure out why he's not
in the Hall of Fame. Then you like all these
little stories come out and it just makes me wonder,
like what's really going on there, Like what's happening there?
Like you didn't want Belichick to get a job elsewhere
and have success. Why because if the Patriots continued to stink,
it would mean that you were really the issue and
not Brady and Belichick if they both want else There's
(01:01:00):
just there's a weird insecurity thing going on there. Then
this weird power struggle and now Robert Kraft's going to
give you a line of garbage about all you know, uh,
draw it is this and he's like, no, he's just
not Mike Vrabel and Mike Rabrale was available and that's
why you made the move.
Speaker 5 (01:01:15):
Period.
Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
End of story at the Jonas Knocks On X. At
the Jonas Knocks On X. By the way, football fans,

Speaker 5 (01:02:09):
Letting me have to take you over you.
Speaker 3 (01:02:14):
Yeah, yeah, that's right, that's right.
Speaker 5 (01:02:21):
Oh, you know, just working like you like that person said,
they don't care about you working. Yeah, I don't care
about us. We're here holding the port down.
Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
But I didn't think about it like that.
Speaker 5 (01:02:33):
I didn't either, trust me. I was like, yeah, we
are the first one's back off.
Speaker 3 (01:02:39):
We're like, we're like the outfit you wear when you're
gonna paint the house exactly. Don't care.
Speaker 5 (01:02:44):
Yeah, if they burn their eyebrows off, it's all good.
You're fine.
Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
No word, I'm the go to at two fifteen when
you struck out on everything else, Trop Parker.
Speaker 5 (01:02:56):
But here we are here were By the.
Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
Way, I don't know if anybody noticed, but it was
Rob Parker's birthday yesterday. It was Yeah, if you didn't
know that, don't worry.
Speaker 5 (01:03:07):
He let everybody know, of course.
Speaker 3 (01:03:09):
Yeah, thought our thoughts and prayers. Everybody's suffering during the
wildfires in La. By the way, it's my birthday and
here's a video clip of it.
Speaker 5 (01:03:17):
All right, Well, you know it's a distraction. It's a distraction. Yes,
people aren't doing yoga here Jonas.
Speaker 3 (01:03:24):
Oh in the studio, yes, or by the way, you
know what, I can't stand a little behind.
Speaker 5 (01:03:28):
The scenes here, please sure share with the class.
Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
I can't stand I can't stand when like we're pulling
into the parking lot to go into work. Uh huh,
and the hippies.
Speaker 5 (01:03:40):
At the yoga class give us a dirty look. Right,
we're in the way.
Speaker 3 (01:03:45):
What are you doing here, slops exactly like we're going
into work. You're gonna go like stretch and hold a
pose for five seconds and think that's a workout.
Speaker 5 (01:03:53):
Exactly what they do. Serous. Now it's like, can you
get out of my way?
Speaker 3 (01:03:57):
Please?
Speaker 5 (01:03:58):
Can you roll your ass here?
Speaker 3 (01:04:00):
Like come on, hey, I've got my pad and my
water bottle underneath my arm. I'm going in to get
a workout. No you're not. You're going in to look
at somebody's ass.
Speaker 5 (01:04:09):
That's exactly what you're doing. And that's exactly what you're doing.
Let's go don't play with us.
Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
Yeah, let's go live to her. I've got a thought
on Rob Parker and yoga tars and signer Chris Professor.
Speaker 11 (01:04:21):
First off, not the combo I was hoping for on
the yoga people. Not only that, as I am like
trying to pull out, they will like cut me off
in the parking garage like this, Like I'm like there,
I've almost been real like smacked in the side three
different times. Why people, It's like, I'm like pulling out
a car you had, Like there you have objects in
(01:04:41):
front of you. I know, object permanence is hard, and
I know that, like the yoga's probably teaching you that
you transcend the material plane or something.
Speaker 9 (01:04:48):
But no, you got to deal with me here.
Speaker 3 (01:04:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:04:50):
Literally almost got run over the other day because somebody
was running late to yoga because I literally stood there
and I gave him my thumbs up as they swerved
around me. They parked and ran to Indo Yoga and
was like, that's why you almost ran me over.
Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
I'm telling you, man, there's there's been a long discussion
about like seven eleven has you know, for for the
most part, the worst parking lot on planet Earth. Any
seven eleven you go to the parking lot of but
I think I think we're barking. I think we're climbing
the ladder because in our parking lot we've got yoga
hippies and catalytic converter thieves.
Speaker 5 (01:05:19):
That's true.
Speaker 11 (01:05:20):
Like we've got real like the real combo womboa. As
far as Rob Parker, I will say this, I'm upset
to learn yesterday was his birthday because last year he
had like some sort of like hot dogs.
Speaker 9 (01:05:32):
He literally flew in from New York and now I haven't.
We're calling that. I'm still not comfortable calling these blizzards.
Speaker 5 (01:05:41):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
I don't want to.
Speaker 9 (01:05:43):
I don't want to.
Speaker 5 (01:05:44):
Sound of Parker saying I got a glizzy in my mouth?
Does have that?
Speaker 11 (01:05:47):
I will probably have to get that. I I don't
want to imagine the man I had a glizzy in
my mouth.
Speaker 9 (01:05:55):
Listen.
Speaker 11 (01:05:55):
They were fantastic glizzies. But it's like I didn't get
the invite this year. But I guarantee he didn't pay
a dime for those either. No, yea their own discode.
Speaker 5 (01:06:05):
I got it from the dollar tree.
Speaker 11 (01:06:11):
I was very upset by the way over the holidays
we didn't have the tradition of Rob's dress for less.
Here Iron is on Fox Sports Radio and odd couple
patches to existing hoodiaes he's had and charges us all
thirty five dollars for You don't have to.
Speaker 5 (01:06:26):
Buy it, Chris, you just spend your money.
Speaker 9 (01:06:29):
No, not my money.
Speaker 6 (01:06:31):
Well, people are probably spending their money today though, because
the NFL playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:06:35):
Began, and that's right.
Speaker 6 (01:06:36):
The AFCILD card Round It All starts from Houston, as
the Texans will be hosting.
Speaker 5 (01:06:39):
The Chargers, with kickoff at four thirty Eastern.
Speaker 6 (01:06:42):
For the Chargers, the running their running back JK. Dobbins
and wide receiver Quintin Johnston are officially active. The Falcons
have far defensive coordinator Jimmy I.
Speaker 5 (01:06:52):
Lake. A full slate of college hoops going on right now.
Texas tex still on top of number three Iowa State.
Speaker 6 (01:06:58):
Fifty five to fifty through the second half. Early in
the second half, Number nine Yukon extending their lead over Georgetown.
It's forty eight to thirty three three minutes to go.
In the game between number eleven Kansas and Cincinnati, Kansas
is on top forty eight thirty seven and with ten
minutes to go, Number nineteen Memphis beating East Carolina fifty
two to forty seven.
Speaker 5 (01:07:17):
Usc had an eighty two to seventy two upset.
Speaker 6 (01:07:19):
Over number thirteen Illinois, and number two Auburns survived sixty
six to sixty three against South Carolina, with number four.
Speaker 5 (01:07:27):
Duke defeating Notre Dame eighty six to seventy eight.
Speaker 6 (01:07:29):
Freshman Cooper flag because the youngest player in NCAA history
to have a.
Speaker 5 (01:07:33):
Game with forty or more points.
Speaker 6 (01:07:34):
He had done with forty two points, seven six, seven assists,
and six rebounds in the game and on the ice,
it's been back and forth between the Bruins and the Panthers,
with the Bruins back on top three to two with
eight minutes to go in the third period.
Speaker 5 (01:07:49):
Back to you, jonas.
Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
Hey and by the way, Mons, thanks for sticking around
all four hours.
Speaker 5 (01:07:55):
I got you. I got you of course to be
here all four Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Yeah, you wouldn't leave us, Hines.
Speaker 6 (01:07:59):
I was not going to leave you. And then you
stay for my show? Is Steve Hartman after So I'm
here for the long haul?
Speaker 5 (01:08:05):
Hell yeah, yeah all right.
Speaker 3 (01:08:07):
So coming up in about twelve minutes from now, we
are going to have the wild Card weekend edition of
Knox Locks. I know a lot of people thought, oh,
are you just gonna do rest on your way above
five hundred winning percentage in the regular season. Now, we're
not a coward. We'll be back for Knox Locks coming
up here at twelve minutes from now here from the
Tairaq dot com studios. I did like this move though
by the National Football League. This is great little perceived
(01:08:29):
gift if you will. So the NFL has announced that
congratulations to London. Congratulations to London. You will get the Jets,
the Browns and the Jaguars hosting games next year. All right,
there you go, folks, little perceived gift if you will,
(01:08:51):
old sales trick. I've talked about it on the show before.
It's the old sales trick, the perceived gift, you know,
where you make somebody think they're getting something that's better
than it actually is. You know, it's like, hey, a
little little perceived gift. It's like, hey, you know, so
listen man. Normally we do these contracts. You know, these
these contracts. Normally these are these are nine month contracts.
(01:09:14):
But if you sign up now, we'll throw on an
extra three months. What do you say, Oh, really, extra
three months for free? You got it? And then you
come to find out afterwards like, no, listen, it was
a twelve month contract the whole time. Like the extra
three months, it was a bunch of crap. It was
just to sell you on it. I do like the
NFL being like, hey, we're gonna give you guys NFL games,
and you know what.
Speaker 5 (01:09:33):
Here's what we're gonna do for you. Here's what we're
gonna do for you.
Speaker 3 (01:09:36):
We're gonna give you NFL games of teams that haven't
like won a super Bowl, okay, but teams that have,
like you know, been thought to maybe be Super Bowl contenders.
All right, Like to bear with us here. So we're
gonna do is. We're gonna give you the Jets, and
(01:09:57):
we're gonna give you the Browns, and we're gonna give.
Speaker 5 (01:09:58):
You the Jaguars.
Speaker 3 (01:09:59):
Like oh, like all teams like people thought were going
to be playoff teams a year ago. Yeah, except the
season actually played.
Speaker 5 (01:10:06):
Out and they were awful.
Speaker 3 (01:10:09):
And I mean the best part of that all. But
I think I had all three going to the playoffs myself.
So congratulations to the city of London. You are getting
NFL games next year. I know you're thinking, like, hey,
it's the NFL. There's nothing that they can give us.
It's gonna be a failure. That's not gonna work out.
No no, no, no no no. We beg to differ
(01:10:30):
because you are getting the Jets, you were getting the Browns,
and you were getting the Jaguars. That's what you're getting.
Two of the three are looking for new head coaches
because the season was such a disaster, and the other
one's got a quarterback make it two hundred and thirty
million dollars who's played like an hour of football since
he signed the contract. So here you go, take our scraps.
(01:10:52):
This is the candy corn at the end of the
Halloween basket. Have fun, enjoy, good luck with the in
London next year. Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio at the
Jonas Knox on X. Coming up next year though, we
will have the wild Card weekend edition of Knox Locks
here on FSR. Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up
(01:11:15):
top of next hour about fifteen minutes from now here
from the tire rack dot Com studios. I have I
have kind of noticed something about the NFL playoffs that
I would like to discuss, all right, something I have.
I've kind of taken a peek at and realized there's
(01:11:39):
a real common theme involving the NFL playoffs and one
team in the NFL playoffs. We'll get into that for you. Again.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing because you're in
the playoffs, but it does feel like a little bit
of an insult. That'll be yours here coming up fifteen
minutes from now. A reminder before we get to Knox Locks,
the wild Card weekend edition, want to let you know
(01:11:59):
that if you missed any of today's show, be sure
to check out the pod. Search Fox Sports Radio wherever
you get your podcast. Be sure to also follow, rate
and review the pod. Again, just search Fox Sports Radio
wherever you get your podcasts. You'll see this show posted
right after we get off the air. Lock it, Let's
lock it Knox Locks. Now. Normally we would do Knox
(01:12:23):
Locks the final segment of the show, but because this
is an expanded special four hour edition of the program
here today and we've got some actual playoff games taking
place next hour, we are going to bang it out
here and we are going to look back, and we
are going to talk about how all of you haters,
(01:12:45):
all of you people who are sitting there making jokes
and taking shots and telling us how bad we were
and you're terrible, and why should anybody listen to you?
And if I want to make some real money on
the NFL, I'll just fade you and bet the opposite.
All of you can collectively get together, can go arm
in arm or hand in hand, and you can all
(01:13:07):
kiss my ass, because we went two and one last week.
Bear's plus ten and a half and they went out right.
Jets as a pick them and they went out right.
And then we had.
Speaker 5 (01:13:23):
Ourselves the Chiefs plus ten and.
Speaker 3 (01:13:26):
A half and they got annihilated, but still a two
and one performance to wrap up the regular season twenty eight,
twenty four and two. And you can sit there and
you can say, well, you're only four games over five hundred,
big whoop. But let me tell you something, after everything
(01:13:46):
I heard from people all throughout the course of the year,
four games over five hundred, we will take it, and
we will take it into the postseason. I thought Chargers
said Texans. Yes, that's right, that's the game that kicks
off wild Card Weekend in the NFL. And I'm gonna
go with the Chargers. Now, if you've been watching this line,
(01:14:08):
it was sitting in around three. It felt like there
was a lot of money that was coming in on
the Houston Texans being a three point underdog at home.
But the line is dipped in some places down to
two and a half, and so a lot of that
money has started to come back in towards the Chargers.
I'm gonna take La here. I have been underwhelmed with
the Texans all year long. I like what Jim Harbaugh
(01:14:30):
is doing. I like the culture he's built. I think
they're probably a one and done this year. But the
way that he's got this team playing, the way that
the vibe of the organization is completely changed. I'm gonna
go with LA going on the road and getting it
done in less than an hour from now. I'll take
the Chargers, Steelers and Ravens. I mean, I think Baltimore
(01:14:53):
is gonna win the game because they're just a better team.
But the Steelers are catching nine and a half points.
Nine and a half points.
Speaker 5 (01:15:01):
This is a.
Speaker 3 (01:15:01):
Division rivalry game, and up until last game, Lamar Jackson's
track record against the Steelers not great. So I look
at it and I go, yeah, I think Baltimore is
the better team.
Speaker 5 (01:15:14):
I think they're gonna win the game.
Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
You mean to tell me the Pittsburgh Steelers can't keep
it within nine points against Baltimore, a team they know
as well as they do in a division game like this,
I'm gonna go with Pittsburgh. I don't think they beat
Baltimore outright, but I think the conversations are gonna get
louder and louder about Mike Tomlin. And we'll discuss that
at further detail next hour. But I look at this
(01:15:38):
and I go give me the Steelers plus nine and
a half. I thought Broncos and Bills. Ay, the Denver
Broncos are a great story. Great story. What they've done
with bo Nicks, what Sean Payton has done, like taking
the organization to another level. They realized, hey, you know what,
(01:16:02):
Russell Wilson, it's not working here. But you know what,
we've got to move on and we've got to focus
on the future. And they've done just that. They land
Bow Nixon the draft. Their defense has been fantastic. How
about Vance Joseph who was there as a head coach,
who decided, do you know what, even though they fired me,
(01:16:22):
I want to come back and be the defensive coordinator.
All right, I'm willing to put that aside and come
back to try and build this defense that was clowned
last year by the Dolphins and they gave up like
seventy something points. It's been a great story. And that's
the thing about great stories. They all have an ending,
and that'll be today or that'll be this weekend. Rather
(01:16:43):
I'm gonna go with the Bills. I like the Bills
minus the eight I think Buffalo too good. This feels
like a big year for the Bills to try and
prove that they can get one of these opportunities to
go to a super Bowl. I'm not saying it's gonna happen.
You got to stick around out for the next couple
of weeks. But I feel like the Bills this year.
(01:17:04):
There's a different vibe. There's a different feel to this team.
I think they go in there. I think they put
it on a rookie quarterback who's going on the road
defense or not. Josh Allen gets it done. I like
Buffalo min a C eight Packers at Eagles.
Speaker 9 (01:17:19):
Yeah, I'm gonna go with the Eagles here.
Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
Look, green Bay, Jordan Love was banged up last game.
Christian Watson's out for the year, like I think Josh Jacobs,
and then we'll keep them in the game for a
lot of it. But ultimately I think Philadelphia pulls away
Jalen hurts his back out of concussion protocol. I think
Philly gets it done. They've got rest. They actually rested
(01:17:41):
their starters last game, unlike Green Bay, who had him
out there and suffered a little bit and got a
little banged up in the process. So I will take
the Philadelphia Eagles minus the four.
Speaker 2 (01:17:50):
And a half Commanders at Buccaneers.
Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
This is gonna be the most entertaining game of the weekend.
This game's just fun. Like if you looked at Washington
and Tampa Bay, you look at it and go, oh,
it's just a fun game. Man Like Jayden Daniels is
fun to watch, Washington, dan Quinn, everything they got going
on there, that's just a fun organization to watch. And
who doesn't like watching Baker Mayfield play like he's been
tremendous there, revitalized his entire career.
Speaker 5 (01:18:18):
They love him.
Speaker 3 (01:18:19):
Seeing what happened with Mike Evans getting his thousand yards
last week, like all of that, I think that's gonna
be a fun watch. The fact that that's on Sunday
night Football in primetime, I think is perfect for the matchup.
And with that matchup, I'm gonna take the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers at home minus the three again, rookie quarterback going
on the road. I like the three points. It was tempting,
(01:18:40):
but ultimately I think Tampa Bay gets it done. Playoff experience.
I think they overwhelm Jayden Daniels and the Bucks move on.
Viking said Rams, this was a tough one, but I'm
gonna take Minnesota minus the two and a half. I'm
gonna bet on Sam Donald's year as opposed to Sam
Donald's week. Last week he was terrible and they couldn't
(01:19:02):
figure out anything in the red zone. They couldn't get
it together. But now this game, all of a sudden,
went from a road game in La where they lost
earlier this year, to a neutral site. I think Minnesota
gets it done. The point spread went from one and
a half to two and a half based on the move.
I think the Vikings get it done in Arizona on
Monday Night football. And that is your wild Card weekend
(01:19:23):
edition of not No Well, I'll tell you what I know.
That's the dumbest that I ever heard of. I'm telling
you right now, man, if I go zero to six,
it does not count towards the regular season. Just letting
you know, two separate conversations here right so you haters
can find something else to try and nitpick here. Hour
three is next year on FSR. You know there is
(01:19:46):
a common theme in the NFL playoffs. If you've been
playing paying close enough attention, you have seen it. You've
noticed it, and I'm just wondering if it's kind of
like a backhanded compliment. That's all. We'll get into that
for you. Comeing out up here just a couple of
moments from now, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You can
listen to this show as always on the iHeartRadio app.

So it is a special four hour edition of the
program here. Obviously, you know, our thoughts are with everybody
(01:20:43):
dealing with the wildfires out here in southern California. We
open up the show explaining we were not on the
air here at FSR overnight into the early morning hours
here locally, because there was potentially an evacuation near the
Fox Sports Radio studios here in Sherman Oaks, and so
because of that, we wanted to have some precaution and
(01:21:06):
make sure anybody that needed to get out and get
away from potential danger could do so. But we are
happy to be back on the air here and discussing
all sorts of college football.
Speaker 5 (01:21:17):
The NFL, and doing what we do best here.
Speaker 3 (01:21:19):
So again, if there's any more news to pass along,
but just continued prayers and our thoughts are with everybody
affected by the wildfires out here. I'd also like to
give a little bit of credit out we were mentioning
our fine affiliate on the Great Island of o Wahoo.
You know, our fine affiliate out there, Fox Sports nine
(01:21:40):
ninety And you know I called it the blow Torch
of the Hawaiian Islands because anybody listening locally on AM
five seventy LA Sports, I always refer to that as
the blowtorch, all right, because of its reach, because of
its power, And I got to give credit where credit
is due. Kyle who's listening in Hawaii, he called the
(01:22:00):
Tiki Torch of the Hawaiian Islands. And so there it is.
Could we give a congratulations to Kyle who has changed
the terminology and the nickname of our fine affiliate out there,
Fox Sports nine ninety the Tiki Torch of the Hawaiian
Islands it is.
Speaker 5 (01:22:19):
That's what I'm talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:22:22):
Listen, credit where credit is due. You know what, somebody's
got a better idea. There's nothing wrong with that, So
good job, Kyle, thanks for listening. Also, don't run over
anybody going there on their way to yoga class, you know,
or don't get in the way of a car going
to yoga class.
Speaker 5 (01:22:39):
We were discussing that earlier.
Speaker 3 (01:22:41):
Because yeah, then, by the way, some of you yoga
people out there, just understand something man like you know,
you're not better than everybody used to stop speeding just
because you're late to go stretch. Okay, enough, plan better
plan accordingly, don't take it out on us just because
you threw on some tights that lift your ass and
(01:23:03):
you go in there and you bend around for forty
five minutes in sweat and think you're doing something. Okay,
that's all I'm saying. And if you're wondering what the
hell we're talking about. You can listen to the podcast afterwards.
It'll make a whole lot of sense. That being said,
let's move on to this. The NFL playoffs kick off,
and they kick off later this hour, and they kick
off with a familiar feeling attached to them. The Houston
(01:23:29):
Texans are hosting the LA Chargers. That is game one
of wild Card weekend. Obviously, we've got the Steelers and
Ravens on Prime Video coming up at eight Eastern time
an time. Oh bottom of this hour, you've got the
Texans and you've got the Chargers. Now, I said earlier
(01:23:50):
in Knox Locks, I like the Chargers in this spot,
especially since the line dropped to two and a half
in some places.
Speaker 5 (01:23:56):
I think the Chargers get it done.
Speaker 3 (01:23:57):
I think the Texans have been up against it all year,
whether it be injuries, it's just not the same team.
Just not the same team. And so I look at
the Chargers as having some momentum, and I'll take LA
going on the road. But if Fewston ends up winning
this game, look they're at home, would not surprise me.
It's the playoffs. Both teams are good enough to be there.
Both teams are good enough to win, but I didn't.
You know, I don't know if you've noticed something here.
(01:24:21):
Doesn't it feel like the Houston Texans are always the
Saturday opener during Wildcard Weekend? And I thought, man, it
just feels like this has happened a lot, Like I'm
pretty sure it happened last year against the Browns. I
can remember it happening a few years ago against the Raiders.
I just started thinking, like, kind of feels like the
Texans are in that opening spot a lot when it
(01:24:44):
comes to the Wildcard weekend. And then I went back
and looked and realized, oh, yeah, that's because every single
time they've made the playoffs, they've been the Saturday Saturday
opener in the Wildcard weekend every time. And I'm just
wondering if the NFL is kind of like, you know,
(01:25:04):
letting you know how they feel about you, without really
letting me know how they feel about you.
Speaker 5 (01:25:08):
You know, like.
Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
Parents can say this, but you do have a favorite
and least favorite kid. You love them all, they all
have good qualities, but you know, sometimes there's a tailtale
sign that maybe one of them is like, you know,
your least favorite, like your favorite, you know, for Christmas,
You're going around checking all the stockings and it's like, man,
(01:25:33):
so and so stockings filled this high. There's like a
stuffed animal popping out of this one, and like a
brand new toy monster jam truck sticking out of this one,
and like that one's got like you know, one of
those like put the baskets on the back of the
door and you shoot in like all that, man, like
really really cool. And then you go like this other
one and you look and it's like a like an
(01:25:57):
open deck of Uno cards.
Speaker 5 (01:26:00):
Oof.
Speaker 3 (01:26:01):
All right, hey let me look. But hey, you love them.
It's like the NFL is looking at the Texas and going, hey,
we love you. Listen, your playoff team. We love all
you guys, like your potential super Bowl team. We're gonna
build the biggest game and sporting event in this country
around you, potentially. Oh, I just don't love.
Speaker 5 (01:26:20):
You that much.
Speaker 3 (01:26:22):
Have fun on Saturdays to open up the wild Card weekend.
I mean there's got to be something to that. There
has to be and I'm not judging. Listen, this is
not you know, like I have defended the Texans organization.
Defending the Texas organization got be blocked by Deshaun Watson
on social media because I'm the one who stuck up
(01:26:45):
for the organization and said, Deshaun Watson, did you dirty?
He left you high and dry after he committed to
a contract and then refused to play. Everyone defended Deshaun
Watson at the time. They'll deny that now, but we've
got received. Everybody defended Deshaan Watson and said, well, I mean,
they haven't done anything to help him, and they traded
away DeAndre Hopkins, and I went on the air and said,
(01:27:08):
he's full of crap, and you're all full of crap
if you think that DeAndre Hopkins was traded and then
he signed the contract and then cried and thanked the
organization and was so happy and all that, and then
all afterwards it was like, oh, I don't want to
be here anymore. They haven't provided me with enough stability
and support. No, you were just trying to get out
(01:27:29):
of town because you had some stuff that was about
to come out. That's why. And because of my defense
of the Houston Texans, I got blocked. So this is
not me taking a shot at the Texans organization. I
just think at some point maybe we got to start
to look at what the NFL is actually saying. Like
(01:27:52):
you ever seen those posters for like a big festival
when it comes out like out here they do Coachella,
which is basically just like you know, a bunch of
a bunch of hippies get together in the desert in
California and they drop acid and then like you know,
all stand in line to use the same porta potty
(01:28:14):
that hasn't been cleaned in two years. They're paying like
seventeen dollars for a bottle of water. You know, they're
going to try and like sneak in a box of
macaroni and cheese and like, you know, hope it rains
so they can mix it with something, and like you know,
it's just like it's weird, but like you know, it's
like those big posters for Coachella. They've always got like
(01:28:35):
the headlining acts and then down at the bottom of
the small print you've got the other ones. And it's
like oh way, wait, wait, wait, wait, down like the
Texans are always that team in the small print at
the bottom, you know what I mean, always like the
opening act, never really the closer, just always the opening act,
like they Sunday Night Football went to Houston for the
(01:28:55):
first time in years earlier this year, and it ain't
like the Texans have been bad. Yeah, they had a
couple of rough years where you know, David Coley was
fired and Lovey Smith and they had Davis Mills as
their quarterback. But that's because of Deshaun Watson. But other
than that, they like they made a playoff run. They
had good team like Matt Shop and Arion Foster and
(01:29:17):
Andre Johnson and my guy David Anderson. Like they had
good teams, like competitive teams. Always a Saturday opener. Why
what's the NFL trying to say, we're pissed you're not
the oilers.
Speaker 5 (01:29:33):
It's just it's kind of weird and a kid.
Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
I'm not, you know, making fun of the fact that
you're an opener. Look, I've heard all the jokes about
you know, various times, and I've worked here on the network.
I've heard all of them. I can tell you this
as somebody who used to be in a band, I
know what it's like to be the opening act. I
can remember being in a battle of the band's true
story on this This is how you know where you
(01:29:59):
fall in the pecking order of the lineup of acts
performing that day. I can remember being it was a
day long event at a place called the Palace in Hollywood.
Right now, that is not a you know, that's not
you know, like a strip club or anything like that.
Don't you know, don't take your mind in a gutter.
(01:30:20):
But it was a place called the Palace. I don't
believe it's still there anymore. And they're like, yeah, it's
an entire day of musical acts from around the area.
Speaker 5 (01:30:28):
Sweet? What time do we go?
Speaker 3 (01:30:30):
On? Ten thirty in the morning? All right? And I
remember telling the other guys after we finished, right, I'll
see you guys, you're not gonna stick around? What stick
around till nine? No, I'm not a loser. I'm not
a drug addict. I have a life, So no, I'm
not going to stick around. I got the hint. That's
(01:30:50):
what they thought of us. That's fine. If you're a
Houston Texans fan, you gotta be looking around going all right,
we get the hint. What do we got to do
to get one of these better slots? Because it just
feels I got a lot of Saturday openers for the
Texans organization, and if I'm betting on it, it feels
like it's a Saturday opener and a one and done
for the Houston Texans this year as well too. At
(01:31:10):
the Jonas Knocks on X. At the Jonas Knox on X,
I will say this though, in regards to this game,
the vibe around the Chargers organization locally year has completely changed.
And this isn't just WHOA. They're a playoff team, so
of course, no, no, no, they were in the playoffs a
couple of years ago. Brandon Staley had them in the postseason.
(01:31:32):
He nearly had them in the postseason before that. But
there's just this feeling of you don't have to worry
about the coach anymore because you've got Jim Harbaugh that
like whatever, like he gets here and everything is completely changed,
like there's no panic, there's no It's part of the
reason why I like him in this game. Like even
(01:31:54):
though they're going on the road, even though you know
that you can say whatever you want about well the Chargers,
whoever they play, you know their winds are against this man.
I look at it and I go, there's something about
Jim Harbaugh that is comforting. It's quirky, it's awkward. He
drinks milk, with his steak. He wears the same thing
he drives, you know, a win a bago and parks
it on the beach and the off season or whatever
(01:32:15):
what like. There's something about Jim Harbaugh and whatever it
is that he does that just makes you feel comfortable
about the situation and the Chargers vibe surrounding the organization
has completely changed. And it's all because of Jim Harbaugh.
And that's exactly why teams that passed on the opportunity
(01:32:35):
to hire that guy then passed on the opportunity to
have him as their head coach even though he reached
out and had interest in the position. Teams like the
Bears and the Raiders who way lo no, they're looking
for coaches again after they stuck like this is why,
because there's something about his aura and what he brings
(01:32:55):
to a football team, to a university, to a program,
to a franchise that calms everything. And he's already done
it and we're not even through year one with the
LA Chargers. At the Jonas Knocks On X at the
Jonas Knocks On X coming up next here though from
the tire Rack dot Com studios, we do have some
more news out there I mean, this is a storyline
(01:33:17):
in the NFL that has been going on for months
and months and months. We might finally have our answer,
and I'll tell you what it is right here on FSR.
I'm not sure this is actually the one you want
to go with today, Chris, to be honest with.
Speaker 9 (01:33:30):
You, It's part of the theme I've been going with
all day.
Speaker 3 (01:33:35):
I'm just saying, there's a guy pushing a shopping cart
around right now who's like, yeah, I sure am, Well,
so far we've hit ring of fire, volcano, hell fire.
Speaker 9 (01:33:46):
I'm sleep now in the fire. Yeah, fire starter.
Speaker 3 (01:33:51):
Oh boy, it is Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 9 (01:33:54):
I'm going to be in today. This is what we're doing.
Speaker 3 (01:33:57):
Coming up in a little over ten minutes from now
here from the tire Raq dot Com studios. The NFL
made sure to take care of what mattered most before
the wildcard playoffs began, all right, I mean, like we
really needed this, and so thankfully the NFL stepped up.
You didn't know that you needed it, You didn't know
(01:34:18):
you needed to be told that you needed it. But
apparently the NFL wanted to make sure and they have
done just that. We'll explain why that is coming up
here a little over ten minutes from now. So we
were talking about the story that's come out where story
it's a report, but it does look like Mike Rabel's
going to get the Patriots job. NFL network Ian Rapaport
(01:34:39):
Tom Pellisera were discussing it earlier and said that, you know,
they're at the point to where they're now discussing potentially
a contract. They've reached out to Mike Rabel's agent to
try and you know, see if they can get something
together and get something done pretty quick. And it felt
like it was heading in this direction, and especially since
the Patriots had to follow the Rooney rule. So they
immediately went out viewed Byron Leftwich and Pep Hamilton like, Gay,
(01:35:04):
we gotta you know, I want to show you guys
were doing it all by the book. We're doing this
all by the up and up.
Speaker 5 (01:35:08):
It's like, okay, And look I said it earlier.
Speaker 3 (01:35:11):
I hope Mike Rabel doesn't take the job just because
Robert Kraft I like his whole kakamemi explanation as to
why he fired Drod Mayo and I just put him
in a tough spot and it's my fault, that's this this,
and it's like, stop, dude, you wanted to hire Mike Rabel.
You're hiring Mike Rabel. We got it. Let's just cut
the crap. But there also is this other story that
(01:35:34):
is drug on for months and months and months and
months and months that apparently at the end of it,
we're all going to look and go, oh, so that
was all kind of a waste of time. Mike McCarthy
and Jerry Jones are discussing an extension and the expect
(01:36:00):
is that Mike McCarthy is going to stay.
Speaker 5 (01:36:02):
The head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Boy, what a
stunner man.
Speaker 3 (01:36:12):
That's so not like the Dallas Cowboys to wait until
the very last minute but ultimately just resign the guy. Anyways, boy,
I'm sure, I'm sure glad they win against what they
normally do. Like you knew this is where this was
headed when Jerry Jones and Steven Jones and the Cowboys
(01:36:37):
started discussing Mike McCarthy and then talking about how great
Mike McCarthy was and the job that he's done and
keeping the team together and just you know, how what
a leader he is and Don't get me wrong. I'm
happy for Mike McCarthy. I like Mike McCarthy. I think
Mike McCarthy's a good coach. I like the fact that
Mike McCarthy's most likely going to be back in Dallas.
(01:36:59):
I do. But if we're just going based on what
was said during the off season and what's actually going
to happen, it doesn't make sense going into the off season.
Jerry Jones talked about how bad the loss was to
(01:37:22):
the Packers in the playoff game a year ago. Dallas
got sand blasted. They were never in that game. I mean,
they were shook, Like Jerry jent like could not explain
what wait what to where the feeling was, man, they
might fire him after this game, and then they brought
(01:37:44):
him back. It's like, okay, well, look it was a
bad performance. It I mean, nobody really played all that well,
but especially the defense. But dan Quinn's gone, so maybe
that'll be you know, maybe he's gonna be the fall guy.
Speaker 5 (01:37:58):
Uh maybe maybe he'll get the blame.
Speaker 3 (01:38:00):
But it's like, Okay, well they brought back Mike McCarthy,
all right, but this year is the year. And then
you go into the season and there's all the CD
LAMB contract stuff and the Dak Prescott contract stuff, which
of course waited till the last minute. Ultimately got it
done after all the talk and conjecture and all the discussion,
well the all the radio hits and all, you know,
all the typical stuff. This is the typical stuff that
(01:38:22):
Jerry Jones and Steven Jones and the Cowboys organization does.
But one of the things that they've said going into
the year was this is a make or break year.
We're all in. We are all in for this year.
Speaker 5 (01:38:37):
It's like, okay, all right, like.
Speaker 3 (01:38:40):
You know, we we we got to get past we
got to get to the playoffs, and we got to
you know, perform better in the postseason. It's like, okay,
all right, all in.
Speaker 5 (01:38:49):
Huh, okay, what does all in mean?
Speaker 3 (01:38:53):
Bring back a roster less than what last year was
and expect something different? Is that what you uh what
all in is? And I said it at the time, dude,
it's not like they set Mike McCarthy up with a
better roster than last year.
Speaker 5 (01:39:05):
It was worse.
Speaker 3 (01:39:07):
And that was before Dak Prescotta got injured and before
Micah Parsons missed time and before they had all the
other injuries, it popped up. There was no solution at
running back. They brought in Ezekiel Elliott. Ultimately he got
punished and like had to miss a game or something
like that because he showed up late and was late
to team meeting.
Speaker 5 (01:39:26):
Like, I mean, the whole thing was a mess.
Speaker 3 (01:39:30):
They're getting beat at home, and they're not getting beat
at home, they're getting bludgeoned at home. And then all
the conversations were about, you know, whether or not they
have they're doing these tours of the facility and if
it's too distracting and nobody else in the NFL does that,
and why do the Cowboys? Like the whole thing was weird,
just weird. And so when you have all of that
(01:39:52):
as the prelude before the discussion about Mike McCarthy's future,
and then ultimately what ends up happening is they're just
going to re sign him to it, not that they're
going to retain him for a year or they're going
to bring him back. And he's already under contract, he's
a free agent. Contract is over. They could just let
(01:40:14):
him walk and they don't have to be the bad
guy or the fall guy, and can just say, yeah,
we didn't fire him, we just didn't renew his contract.
Speaker 5 (01:40:20):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:40:23):
To go from everything that you said, like all the
you know, the the all the stuff that was talked
about before the year, all in, we're this, we expect this,
where the Cowboys were americacy, and then you come to
the end of the year and it's like you were
underwhelming based on expectations.
Speaker 5 (01:40:42):
By a large margin.
Speaker 3 (01:40:45):
And yet that coach who you win all in on
and expected all these great things from underperformed and under delivered.
And not only did you not let him walk, you're
going to sign him to a contract extension. Like again,
I'm happy for Mike McCarthy. I'm happy he's back. I
think he's a good coach. But this is just typical Dallas.
(01:41:09):
Cowboys got to stir it up to create conversation and discussion.
Like you remember last year when they were trying to
decide on what they were gonna do with Mike McCarthy,
and it's like, Okay, we know what you're gonna do.
You're gonna bring him back. Longer it went, they're just
gonna bring him back. I mean, at least Robert Krabb,
like when he decided to fire girod Mayo because Mike
Rabel was available and there was some interest there, or
(01:41:30):
at least you know, he waited until like eleven seconds
after the game was over last Sunday before he made
the announcement. Jerry Jones just drags it.
Speaker 5 (01:41:40):
On and on.
Speaker 3 (01:41:41):
And that's why I've been saying for the longest, this
is all typical Dallas Cowboys. This is all about the branding.
This is all about let's create the conversation. Can we
be the most talked about team? Like this is the
this is what they do. I got news for you.
This is the same thing that's gonna happen with Michael
(01:42:01):
Parsons contract. Do you actually think Michaeh Parsons is not
going to get a deal with the Dallas Cowboys? Really?
Anybody actually think that? Did anybody actually think Dak Prescott
wasn't gonna get a deal done with the Cowboys? They
were just gonna let him walk?
Speaker 5 (01:42:17):
Really?
Speaker 3 (01:42:18):
Ceedee lamb. Really, it's like Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson's played
his last game as a Baltimore Raven. Okay, if he
doesn't get the contract he wants, he's not playing again. Okay,
All right, how do people fall from this crap? But
(01:42:40):
this is what like, this is what Jerry Jones does.
He creates this stuff like he he loves the like
waiting till the last man.
Speaker 5 (01:42:51):
We'll just squeeze.
Speaker 3 (01:42:52):
We'll just wait and wait and wait, and people will
talk about us and we'll be the discussion and we'll
be a talking point. Like I'm telling you, man, there
are so many more teams that have had so much
more success on the field in the last twenty five
thirty years in the Dallas Cowboys, like a lot that
have actually won Super Bowls, that have actually advanced to
(01:43:13):
a conference championship game. They don't get a fraction of
the coverage of the Dallas Cowboys. And it's not because
it's forced. It's because it's manipulated. And Jerry Jones is
the best at it. I commend him. It is brilliant.
They have taken a mediocre franchise and made them the
(01:43:35):
most talked about in the league. They get discussed more
than the Chiefs, and the Chiefs are in the middle
of a dynasty and the Cowboys get discussed more than
them because Jerry Jones knows how to play the game. Gosh,
isn't it kind of weird that he does two interviews
a week on local radio in Dallas and he's the
first guy to talk to the media after the games
are over.
Speaker 5 (01:43:55):
Yet it is a little weird, it's also genius.
Speaker 3 (01:44:01):
It's also like anybody buying into these stories about a
guy leaving the Cowboys or a guy going somewhere else,
or maybe he's not going to be back.
Speaker 5 (01:44:08):
Stop.
Speaker 3 (01:44:08):
They always figure it out, they always get it done.
Speaker 5 (01:44:11):
They just wait a little bit longer.
Speaker 3 (01:44:13):
So the conversation will continue at the Jonas Knocks on
X at the Jonas Knocks on.
Speaker 5 (01:44:18):
X and you can hang out with us as always
on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 3 (01:44:21):
So coming up next year, the NFL made sure to
take care of something or this is the most important thing,
all right. They've got their priorities in line, all right.
So we will get into that for you coming up
here in just a couple of moments from now. But first,
for all the latest from around the world of sports,
we turn it over to the one, to the only,
to the magical moncy. Let me have to take you over.
Speaker 5 (01:44:47):
But yes, that's right, yeah, sits up here.
Speaker 6 (01:44:53):
We are powering through this weird time in La, but
here are it's okay, Yeah, hoping we're giving people a
distraction from everything happening because obviously on the East Coast
it's also very cold, so a.
Speaker 5 (01:45:06):
Lot of stuff happening, and it's the Chargers.
Speaker 6 (01:45:11):
Yes, they're about to kick off against the Houston Texans, and.
Speaker 5 (01:45:14):
You know what, join us. There's some Chargia fans over there.
Speaker 3 (01:45:17):
It's of course there's also Texans fans, like here we
go against Saturday over Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:45:24):
But I'm excited to see some Charger fans that made
the trip out there and literally they just got going
officially kicking off NFL playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:45:32):
After this one. Well, we were gonna say.
Speaker 3 (01:45:34):
Something, you were going to say, say, by the way,
didn't you So didn't you also notice that, like, yeah,
the Texans do play on the Saturday.
Speaker 4 (01:45:41):
Open a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:45:42):
Yeah, they do. It's like a tradition.
Speaker 3 (01:45:45):
Literally every time the Texans have made the playoffs and
they're a wild card team, they have the opener. Yeah,
it's like, what are you trying to tell us?
Speaker 5 (01:45:53):
I don't know, but it's true. It is true.
Speaker 6 (01:45:56):
And also did you notice, obviously in support of what's
happening in Los Angeles, all the Chargers we're wearing la
FD for.
Speaker 5 (01:46:03):
The fire department, so yeah, as they should.
Speaker 3 (01:46:06):
As my buddy, My buddy Ian is a higher up
with the LA Fire Department.
Speaker 5 (01:46:12):
I'm asking him. He just said, the last few days,
I can't even imagine.
Speaker 3 (01:46:16):
Yeah, and it's you know, you just got to look
around and you see some stories and realize, yeah, maybe
they could have gotten a little more help before all
this started. But hey, it's California.
Speaker 5 (01:46:25):
Everybody, Welcome to California. We've got our priorities online.
Speaker 6 (01:46:28):
You know, being a firefighter in a situation like what's
happening right now.
Speaker 5 (01:46:31):
Where you must feel so helpless, like it.
Speaker 6 (01:46:35):
Must be, it's got to be so awful, it's got
to be just so thank you to all the firefighters
and everybody that's trying to make a dent in this,
because I don't know how it's it's absolutely incredible.
Speaker 3 (01:46:46):
You know what's odd about it? Like it's like, what
do you need to fight fire? Water?
Speaker 8 (01:46:51):
Water?
Speaker 5 (01:46:52):
And we're next to the ocean. You live next to
the ocean, it's right there.
Speaker 3 (01:46:56):
How do we not have any I don't get it.
Speaker 5 (01:46:58):
Jonas, I don't. I don't. It's incompetence. Incompetence is putting
it nicely.
Speaker 8 (01:47:03):
Yeah, it's fair, It is putting it nicely.
Speaker 6 (01:47:05):
Very frustrated, it's incredibly frustrating to just witness everything that's happening.
Speaker 5 (01:47:11):
But let's let's just forget about it for just a
hot second.
Speaker 3 (01:47:14):
Go Chargers.
Speaker 5 (01:47:15):
Yes, that's right, Go Chargers.
Speaker 6 (01:47:18):
Let's go Chargers. Let's go Justin Herbert all right. College
hoops right now, it's.
Speaker 5 (01:47:24):
One game going on.
Speaker 6 (01:47:25):
Number eight Florida beating Arkansas seventeen sixteen with about eight
minutes to go in the first half, but it was
a nail bider between number three Iowa State and Texas Tech.
Iowa State tied the game with six seconds to go
to send it to overtime. Right now, with eight seconds left,
they win it eighty five to eighty four against Texas Tech.
Speaker 5 (01:47:44):
Number two Auburn.
Speaker 6 (01:47:45):
They survived against South Carolina sixty six to sixty three.
One upset so far today, usc beating number thirteen Illinois
eighty two to seventy two and freshman Cooper Flag forty
two point six rebounds, seven assists. Number four Duke beats
Notre Dame eighty six to seventy eight on the ice.
Another nail bier between the Bruins and the Panthers. The
(01:48:06):
Panthers tied it in regulation with two seconds to go.
The Bruins wanted in overtime.
Speaker 5 (01:48:11):
With two seconds to go. Final score was four to three. Sabers, Sabers, Sabres, Sabers.
It's because of the office, Sabers whatever.
Speaker 6 (01:48:18):
Sabers are reading the crack head one zero with five
minutes to go in the first period, centers on top
of the Penguins to zero with about seven minutes to
go in.
Speaker 5 (01:48:26):
The first period. Back to you, Jonah Scott Chargers.
Speaker 3 (01:48:29):
Hey, by the way, did they still call where the
crack and play the Crackhouse or no?
Speaker 5 (01:48:33):
Oh I don't know. I hope so they were. I
hope we don't change that. Yeah, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
it's a great name. By the way, I mean it's
you know, if you want a crackhouse, just crack and crackhouse.
Speaker 3 (01:48:42):
Yeah, walk down Venice, sure, yeah, direction that'll work if
it's still there.
Speaker 5 (01:48:47):
Yeah, just open up a Coleman tent and thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:48:50):
I need all right, Yeah it is uh, it is
Jonahs Knox here on Fox Sports Radio, and yes we
are underway. The playoffs have started in the NFL. We've
got the charge Rogers, we've got the Texans, and we
will have you covered here throughout the course of this
show with updates on that one here on FSR. Also
a reminder, there are two teams in about ten minutes
(01:49:10):
from now that I'm going to tell you about. They're good,
no matter what happens this weekend, they're good. They are good.
Little free role if you will, we'll explain who that is.
Speaker 5 (01:49:21):
Again.
Speaker 3 (01:49:21):
Two teams NFL playoff teams that'll be yours coming up
here ten minutes from now here on FSR. Justin Herbert
with a nice play and a first down for the
Chargers as they are driving inside Texans territory on the
opening drive. About four minutes gone so far in the
opening quarter there in Houston. I did like how the
NFL made sure to do this because you know, you
(01:49:43):
got to have your priorities in line. They made sure
to send a reminder out to all teams in the
league in the playoffs about sportsmanship.
Speaker 5 (01:49:52):
You know, you got to have your your priorities in line,
you know, hey, guys, just so you know.
Speaker 3 (01:50:00):
Sure you can do it the right way. We're all
about sportsmanship here. We don't have to have to kick
anybody out of a game, like, oh, thank you, appreciate it.
Appreciate it. It's a playoff game. What do you think
they're gonna do? What do you think this is the
last boy scouts. Some guy's gonna pull.
Speaker 5 (01:50:16):
Out a hand cannon. Yeah, we got it. Like we're
trying to win a playoff game.
Speaker 3 (01:50:22):
You think we're gonna like jeopardize the team and like
get ejected intentionally from a game because it's a playoff game.
Like what do you It's like, you know, like they'll
tell you, like, hey, whatever you do, don't feed sharks.
Oh damn, it's just about to do that. Thank you though,
(01:50:45):
Thank you appreciate it. Like, hey, uh, just make sure
you don't juggle the knives. Right, there's like three or
four butcher knives there. Make sure you don't like, you know,
close your eyes and throw those in the air and
try and catch them. Oh got it, Thank you so much,
appreciate it. Thank you you're the best. Thanks for looking
out for me. It's like, of course, what do you
think these teams are going to do? Like nobody's going
(01:51:07):
to intentionally cost their team a playoff game like the
NFL like makes it a point to like look out
for everybody. It's like, you know, these uh, these celebrations,
they've got a fine guys who are all listen. You know,
we're all about the reputation of the league. We don't
want to give a We don't want anybody to get
the wrong thing and get the wrong impression about our league.
(01:51:28):
We don't want anybody to get the wrong oppression about
our league. Okay, Well, I don't know, maybe you could
do something about certain players that play in the league,
you know, maybe do something about that. I don't know, Like, hey,
we don't want to We don't want to set a
bad example here with our league. Oh you know, how
come that weirdo got two hundred and thirty million dollars guaranteed?
Speaker 12 (01:51:48):
Then?
Speaker 3 (01:51:50):
Okay, but just everybody make sure you're up to speed
on the sportsmanship rules here. All right, We'll have a
duct tape to the locker so you know what you
can and can't do in a middle of a playoff game,
because you need the reminder. Thanks NFL. At the Jonas
knocks On X at The Jonas Knocks On X coming
up next here though. From the ti rack dot Com studios.
There are two teams this weekend in the NFL. They're
(01:52:12):
good no matter what, no matter what the result, they
are fine. I'll tell you who that is here on
FSR Jesus Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Coming up top
of next hour a little over twelve minutes from now
from the tire rack dot Com Studios. Kind of a
(01:52:32):
I guess a rematch if you will, you talk about
one of the great great rivalries in all of sports.
We've got ourselves a little rematch, right, a little revenge
potentially for somebody on one side of it.
Speaker 5 (01:52:44):
That'll be yours here again.
Speaker 3 (01:52:45):
Coming up a little over ten minutes from now here
from the tire rack dot Com Studios. Quick update on
the Chargers and Texans game. The LA Chargers went down
on their opening possession and got a field goal, and
it looks like they have just gotten a turnover as
well too. They're going to determine on the field whether
(01:53:06):
or not that's a catch and a strip and it
looks like it was recovered by Derwin James, and so
it looks like the Chargers, who scored on their opening possession,
kicked the field goal. They are going to get the
ball back, So not a great start for the Houston
Texans as LA is looking to get on the board,
but it does potentially a knee down.
Speaker 5 (01:53:26):
We'll keep you posting on that.
Speaker 3 (01:53:28):
So the Chargers could potentially have the football back, and
you're probably thinking to yourself, listen, you know, the Chargers
could be up on the road. Some turnovers, poor play,
they scored first, they've got the ball back. Like things
appeared to be going well for the LA Chargers, and
then you go, well, they appeared to be going well
(01:53:49):
against the Jacksonville Jaguars as well too, and then all
of a sudden, the meltdown of all meltdowns happened and
next thing you know, Trevor Lawrence was getting a giant
contract for one half of playoff football. So we'll keep
you posted on that. But it is Chargers ball. They
have ruled it a turnover and LA has got the
football back with a three to nothing lead nine and
a half minutes left to go in the first quarter. There,
(01:54:10):
So bad star for the Houston Texans and their normal start.
Which is the Saturday opener of wild Card Weekend. By

Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts. You'll see this
show posted right after we get off the air. So
I am a firm believer that if you're a team
who has a rookie quarterback, there are two goals in mind.
One of them you have to have.
Speaker 5 (01:54:49):
The other one.
Speaker 3 (01:54:51):
It's kind of a benefit. They kind of throw it in, like, hey,
you know as part of your purchase, here is this, Like,
but one of them you got to have. You have
to know if you have a rookie quarterback whether or
not he's the guy, or at least have enough information
if you're starting a rookie quarterback that he's your quarterback
of the future. You have to know, Like that one
(01:55:12):
you have to have. You'd like to have some wins
as well too, and potentially a playoff appearance, you know,
if everything works out, but you have to know whether
or not he's your guy at the end of the year,
and if you get anything beyond that, it's kind of
a throw in, like a you know a bonus if
you will. And I kind of feel like, if you're
(01:55:34):
the Denver Broncos or the Washington Commanders, whatever happens this
weekend in the playoffs, you're good because what you were
open to find out is whether or not Jaden Daniels
and Bo Nicks were franchise quarterbacks. You were just hoping
to find out and whether or not they were your
franchise quarterbacks. Now we've seen CJ. Stroud, who was, you know,
(01:55:58):
everything they thought he could be an then some last
year for the Texans, one of the great rookie years
for a quarterback we've seen. We've seen him sort of
come back down to earth this year and it's been
an awkward year for the Texans, kind of up and down,
and you know, you wonder what the future holds for them.
But at the end of last year, they made the playoffs,
they won a playoff game, But really the big picture
(01:56:19):
goal was do you have a quarterback? Do you have
a guy? And the Houston Texans had a guy, and
we don't know whether or not the Atlanta Falcons have
a guy in Michael Pennix. We haven't seen enough of them.
We think the Bears might have a guy in Caleb Williams,
but there's still some questions there and there was a
lot of chaos there, and there were some times where
he made some plays where you're like, man, that's unbelievable,
(01:56:41):
rarefied air of anybody that can make those throws, and
then other ones you're like, all right, what the hell
was that?
Speaker 5 (01:56:46):
The game against Seattle?
Speaker 3 (01:56:47):
What the hell was at? But there's was enough there
that you're like, Okay, well, you know, at least he's
going to get another opportunity with another coach and maybe
there's more stability and that'll do something for Denver and Washington.
You've got your answers, Like, no matter what happens in
this playoff game, like bow Knicks could go into Buffalo,
they're an eight point eight and a half point nine
(01:57:09):
point depending on where you shop underdog going into the game.
What's really the expectation for bow Nicks going into this game?
He's already met and exceeded his expectations. Like there was
discussions before this year had Sean Payton lost it, And
(01:57:29):
let's not pretend like those weren't real discussions. Those were
being had, Like what went wrong with the with with
Russell Wilson and whose fault was it?
Speaker 10 (01:57:38):
Was?
Speaker 3 (01:57:39):
It was it Russ's fault, was it Sean Payton's fault?
Was it just a bad combination?
Speaker 5 (01:57:44):
You know?
Speaker 3 (01:57:45):
Like I had heard that Sean Payton really wanted the
Chargers job when they brought Brandon Staley back, that he
was like, Okay, well, all right, I guess not. But
like there was a discussion about it. Had Sean Payton
lost it? And now all of a sudden, it's like, dude,
he could be coach of the Year and it wouldn't
surprise anybody. And bon Nicks has been fantastic and it's
(01:58:07):
not like he's dinking and ducking. Bo Nix is throwing
the ball down feel deep all the time. But if
they go out and lose in this playoff game, you're like,
I mean, have they got their guy free roll? Same
thing with Washington, Like Washington as an organization was a disaster.
They got a new owner, they've got a new coach,
(01:58:28):
they've got a new staff, they've got a new energy.
Oh and by the way, they've got a superstar rookie quarterback.
So whatever happens, whether Washington loses on Sunday Night Football
to Tampa Bay. Whether Denver gets wiped out by Buffalo,
no matter what. If you've got a rookie quarterback, your
one goal you've got to accomplish is whether or not
(01:58:49):
he's the guy of the future. The wins are a bonus.
So far, Washington and Denver have got their guy. You're
listening to Fox Sports Radio. Got a little bit of
a reunion if we will, kind of a rematch, maybe
some revenge in the world of football. We'll explain why
that is coming up here in just a couple of
(01:59:10):
moments from now, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You can
hang out with us as always on the iHeartRadio app.
You can find us on hundreds of affiliates all across
the country and wherever you are making us a part

com Studios, tire rack dot com. We'll help you get
there and unmatched election fast free shipping, free road as
a protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack
dot Com the way tire buying should be. So this
is a special edition of the program. Normally a two
hour extravaganza, today it's a four hour extravaganza. And so
(01:59:58):
we are entering our four and we are entering hour
four with an actual playoff game going on in the NFL.
We got the Chargers and we got the Texans Houston
and their typical opening up the wild card weekend spot,
like they normally do every single time they're a wildcard
team in the NFL. This is what they do when
(02:00:20):
they're in the wildcard round. This is what they do.
Division you win it, Congratulations, you're opening up this whole
thing like they typically do. And like they typically do,
they are trailing or at least six nothing to the
LA Chargers. So four and a half ors, she's be
a little under five minutes to go. In the opening quarter.
(02:00:40):
LA's got a six to nothing lead. They went down,
kicked a field goal in their opening possession, got a
turnover on the next one, nearly got another one a
terrible throw by CJ. Stroud almost picked off by the
Chargers on third down. And so now we've got the
Chargers with the football back up six nothing, and not
a lot's gone right for the Houstons. And you know,
(02:01:01):
I mean, if you're just looking for storylines, you know,
we opened up our one of this four hour extravaganza
talking about, you know, one of the storylines that is
out there. You know, Ohio State is the best team
in college football. It would appear to be. I mean,
they're an overwhelming favorite, you know, in the National Championship
game against Notre Dame. And you know we've got a
(02:01:24):
little Ohio State and Michigan rematching this game. You got
Jim Harbaugh coaching the Chargers, you got CJ. Stroud quarterbacking
the Houston Texans. And it's my old point on the
Ohio State conversation was simple. We were told by Ohio
(02:01:45):
State fans that what really mattered was the game against Michigan.
That's what we're told, all right, That is that is
what we were told. That the game against Michigan is
what matters. That's why it's the game.
Speaker 5 (02:02:00):
Iron Dad.
Speaker 3 (02:02:00):
Doesn't win that game, then he could potentially deserve to
be fired. So it's just kind of interesting how now
everybody is celebrating Ryan Day and Ohio State when we
were told that it was all over. Oh, it's all over.
It's over. You know, Ryan Day's got to go. They
lost to Michigan. It's like, and I made the point earlier,
it's like, yeah, Ohio State. To the outside, like, I'm
(02:02:24):
not even like if we're talking about Ohio State being
the national champion, I just go, all that's the best
team in college football. But it's internally where they feel
it because they can go on and they can win
this national championship, and again they're the overwhelming favorite to
do so. But after it's all said and done, you're
going to have an Ohio State fan base who's been
telling you for months and months and years now that
(02:02:46):
that's all nice and well, but you didn't beat Michigan,
and it's just a little strange. Like I like the
fact that you've put such a premium on that matchup.
It's what makes that rivalry great. I'm happy about it,
But damn man, Like, you're on the Brina winn in
a national.
Speaker 5 (02:03:03):
Title and I'm telling you, there's going.
Speaker 3 (02:03:05):
To be a portion of the Ohio State fan base
that's gonna look at this thing and go yeah. But
and my comparison to it earlier was it you know,
it's like a supermodel with halatosis. Like on the outside,
she's I mean a rocket ship. We're talking like a
thirteen out of ten. But on the inside you're like, oh,
(02:03:25):
don't let her cough on you, like whatever you do,
like stay away. She's been bobbing for goldfish for an hour,
like you know, just look's like, uh, steer clear of that.
It's like, dude, if you're Ohio State, like you're on
the brinklewinn in a national title and I'm telling you
there's going to be a segment of the population in
(02:03:46):
Columbus that it's not going to be enough.
Speaker 5 (02:03:48):
And it's just a little odd.
Speaker 3 (02:03:50):
And I don't know that that necessarily applies to any
other rivalry there is. The only one I can think
of is maybe like a Duke North Carol. But I
don't even think it's that. I don't even know if
it's that bad. It's just it's strange, man. It's strange
(02:04:11):
how they've looked at this whole thing. But here they
are best team in college football as it stands right now,
and on their way to play Notre Dame in the final.
And what's interesting about Notre Dame is the fact that
they lost to Northern Illinois, and there was discussions about man,
that doesn't happen with insert head coach's name, it happens
(02:04:35):
with Marcus Freeman. And look, full disclosure, I may be
partly responsible for that loss against Northern Illinois because I
did the play by play of that game, and I
swear to God on this. We've talked about it on
the show. This is a true story. Brady Quinn was
on location and I forget where they were, and it
(02:04:58):
was big noon kickoff on location elsewhere. They finished up
with the show, and he was driving back home to
Ohio and he called me on his way back because
he wanted to get an update on the game. And
I'm literally giving him enough dawn of the game as
Northern Illinois is beating Notre Dame and maybe the worst
(02:05:20):
loss in the history of the program, and I'm the
guy giving the play by play for one of the
most popular players in the history of the program. That
is how bad my luck was when it came to
football earlier this year. And yet here those teams are.
One of them suffered a devastating loss to their arch
(02:05:40):
rival again and the other loss to Northern Illinois and
they're going to meet in the national championship game, and
you could say whatever you want about the College Football Playoff.
There was a lot of people who didn't like the
expansion of it, a lot of people who didn't like
the fact that college football went this direction. They didn't
like the teams that were involved. They thought a couple
of teams might have gotten screwed. They didn't like the
(02:06:02):
first round matchups and felt like they weren't all that great.
You could say whatever it is that you want to
say about the college Football Playoff. To me, year one
has been an overwhelming success. That Notre Dame Penn State
game is one of the best college football games I've
ever seen. That was outstanding. And just because the opening
(02:06:24):
round games were wipeouts doesn't mean you just judged the
whole thing from that moment and say, well, see, we
told you, and a lot of people were doing that.
That's why you didn't need to expand this thing, because
look at what, dude, You've had some really good game
since then and some really good performances, And to me,
that's all you're asking for. When you get a championship
(02:06:48):
game and there's no guarantees, you're asking for one of
two things, hopefully both, but one of two things, either
a great game or a great performance or both.
Speaker 5 (02:07:01):
And you may not have gotten.
Speaker 3 (02:07:02):
Some good games early on, but you had some great
performances and some great showcases. Whether it was Jeremiah Love's
touchdown run to open up the whole thing on that
Friday night against Indiana, whether it was Jeremiah Smith and
what he did against Oregon, the defense of Penn State,
couple of pick six like whatever, like, you had some
(02:07:23):
great performance and then you had the great games. And
that game trust from being there at the Orange Bowl.
That's one of the loudest venues I've heard, and that's
a neutral site game at the start of kickoff. Being
there in that stadium earlier this week, that's one of
the loudest stadiums I've ever heard. So are there a
(02:07:45):
couple of tweaks? Are there a couple of reseting things
they should do? Are there a couple of you know,
other things they could work on if they're college football?
Of course, But I come away from year one thinking, dude,
this has been a success, and you're gonna get Ohio
State and Notre Dame and what is interesting about it?
And Petros Papadakis talked about it earlier this week on
(02:08:06):
Fox Sports Radio when we had him on Two Pros
and a Cup of Joe, and he said, look, whoever
won the Notre Dame Penn State game, they were going
to be the team you rooted against in the final
or you rooted for in the final rather because you
were going to probably root against Ohio State or Texas.
And that's just the truth. Because look, Ohio State fans
(02:08:27):
and the way they handled the Michigan loss, not great,
little obnoxious, kind of ridiculous. You want to like put
it in law that you don't like them when people
plan a flag on your field, like kind of ridiculous.
Ryan Day rubbed some people the wrong way. He just does.
Speaker 5 (02:08:44):
And then Texas fans are obnoxious.
Speaker 3 (02:08:46):
They are like a lot of them are cowboys fans.
Did you notice a common denominator there? Like there's a
theme there. So going into this game, Notre Dame, who
has got their own detractors and people that don't like
them or you either hate them or you like I've man,
(02:09:06):
Notre Dame's going to be the team that people are
look at. They're going to be the feel good story
of this whole thing rooting against Ohio State based on
Ohio State handled their earlier loss. So with that being said,
College Football Playoff year one of the expansion, the twelve
team whatever they decide to go to, whether it's sixteen
teams or twenty teams, I think that's a bit much,
(02:09:27):
but if there's money involved, they're probably going to make
the move.
Speaker 5 (02:09:30):
I think it's been a success.
Speaker 3 (02:09:32):
You're looking for one of two things, either great games
or great performances, and we have gotten both of those
by far or so far in the college football Playoff.
With one game left to go, Jonas Knox here on
Fox Sports Radio, first down for the Houston Texans as
they are trailing six nothing here at home to the
LA Chargers, so they've got a first down near midfield,
(02:09:53):
trying to get on the board with two minutes and
change left to go in the opening quarter there, and
Houston has not looked good thus far. By the way,
more positive feedback here on the show, Troy writes in
boardop Jonas is the bleep Texans, except you should be
(02:10:14):
relegated to overnight two am slots so that your two
cadavers and meth fiends can listen to you your relevant
hack bleep. Let me tell you something. Man, if I
could get two cadavers to willingly listen to this show,
(02:10:35):
do you know what an accomplishment that would be? And
if you are a meth addict and you want to listen,
that's fine, just don't you know, take what we can
get here, but we're not going to be judgmental here.
We take what we can get. So that, by the way,
he also said, go.
Speaker 5 (02:10:51):
F yourself so not to be outdone. At the Jonas
Knocks on X.
Speaker 3 (02:10:55):
At the Jonas Knocks On X is where you can
find me and find the unedited.
Speaker 5 (02:10:59):
Version of all of those tweets that we will.
Speaker 3 (02:11:01):
Send out or retweet throughout the course of the show,
at least the ones that we can't because a lot
of them, you know, some of them go a bit
above and beyond a little over the top. So up
next here from the tire rack dot Com Studios, though,
we are going to tell you how there is a
game in the NFL this weekend and the loser is
just going to have to wear it not just right
(02:11:24):
after the game, but for months and months and months.
We'll tell you why next year on.
Speaker 5 (02:11:29):
FSR Boom touch Us for Jonas.
Speaker 3 (02:11:33):
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio, coming up a little over
ten minutes from now. There's some people that are kind
of judging and they're not really in a place to
judge when it comes to one coach in the National
Football League. We'll explain why that is coming up here
again a little over ten minutes from now. A quick
(02:11:54):
update from the playoff game right now in Houston, where
the LA Chargers have a six to nothing lead. Ladmc
honkey just picked up a first down and the Chargers
are moving with the football yet again. They forced the
Texans to punt last possession and the Chargers have the
ball up six and nothing, thirteen minutes and change left
to go in the half and the football at close
(02:12:17):
to midfield of Houston. It has been all LA Chargers
thus far early going in this game, so we'll keep
you posting on that throughout the course of the show. Also,
you know, there's another playoff game coming up later on,
and this one's interesting because you've got the Pittsburgh Steelers
in the Baltimore Ravens Division game. They've got a lot
(02:12:39):
in common, and in fact, two people involved in this
game have a lot in common. Those two people are
Lamar Jackson and Mike Tomlin, so each of them is
kind of dealing with their own discussion and narrative heading
into the game. Lamar Jackson, as you know, has struggled
(02:13:01):
at times in the postseason. That has been brought up
several times before. Even after winning a playoff game last
year and playing well, you know, Lamar Jackson went on
and struggled in the AFC title game and it was
just a weird game altogether for the Baltimore Ravens. Even
though they had a home game against the Chiefs, they
were favored in that game and they came up short.
(02:13:23):
Lamar Jackson discussed his struggles in the postseason earlier this week.
Speaker 12 (02:13:30):
I'd just be too excited best all, you know, too
ass He like I'm seeing things before it happened, Like, oh,
I got to calm myself down.
Speaker 5 (02:13:36):
But there's been more experience.
Speaker 12 (02:13:38):
I've found a way to about balance it out.
Speaker 3 (02:13:42):
Now. Some people look at that as being a little troubling.
You know, you got a starting quarterback. He's supposed to
be cool, calm and collective, but he's talking about being
too nervous or too antsy in the postseason. And I
look at it and go, at least he's honest, what's
wrong with that? Like to there was a UFC fighter
he's one of the greatest of all time. His name
was George Saint Pierre and like, this guy's got every
credential in the world. He's like on a mount rushmore
(02:14:04):
of MMA fighters. And one of the things that people
point to is early on in his career he tapped
out due to strikes because he was getting beat by
a guy named Matt Sarah. He was an overwhelming favorite
to beat Matt Sarah. Matt Sarah was this giant underdog
and he ended up stinging him with the right hand
and then got on top and was ground I pounding
(02:14:26):
him and George Saint Pierre tapped and that was like
a big knock on him. And they asked him later
like why did you tap? Because he ended up he
avenged the loss. He dominated Sarah in the rematch. He
went on to have this brilliant career and he just
was honest. He said, I don't know, I got a
little scared, like it's just it's normal. Yet he went,
you know, he saw a sports psychologist, like he had
(02:14:47):
to like work through a lot of those like mental money.
He just it's real. And so Lamar Jackson like he
struggled at times in the postseason. That is a real thing.
Whether you want to go back to the Ravens having
the buye and home and then what Derrick Henry and
Ryan Tannell and the Titans did them a few years back, Like,
there's been multiple situations where Lamar Jackson has struggled. Now
(02:15:08):
I would say this, Yeah, he struggled in that AFC
title game against the Chiefs last year, but if you
remember back to that game, there was some other people
that were culpable in that as well too, Like the
game plan not exactly ideal. They weren't really trying to
run the ball, which they probably should have. The defense
(02:15:31):
kind of let Travis Kelcey run amuck and he ended up,
you know, putting together a monster day when he hadn't
really had as good of a day or as good
of a regular season, so they kind of let him
get going. And then Zay Flowers had a couple of
mistakes in that game. There was the taunting penalty, There
was losing the ball to the one yard yard line
into the end zone, which could have been you know,
a changed the game completely. So it's not like that
(02:15:53):
was all on Lamar Jackson, but he's gonna have to
wear it. Mike Tomlin also has this narrative because it's
been a long time since the Steelers have won a
playoff game, eight years, I believe something like like Dave
it's been a long time fourteen years, sixteen years since
he's they won the Super Bowl fourteen like, There's been
(02:16:16):
a lot of going on there when it comes to
the Steelers and where they're at now and whether or
not they this is the year, and it's just there's
been a bunch of stuff that's happened with Mike Tomlin
and they've come up short a bunch of times. And
Mike Tomlin talked about getting this team ready for the postseason,
ready for this game, and just sort of the discussion
(02:16:38):
about himself when it comes to the playoff woes.
Speaker 12 (02:16:41):
What you mentioned is my story is not this collective story.
Many of these guys involved do not tote those bags.
I happily tote those bags, but it's not something that
I'm gonna project on the collective.
Speaker 3 (02:16:52):
So here's what is interesting about this because they're you know,
Dan Orlovski threw this out. I mean, this is like
and this is not a shot at dan Arlovsky, like
he does a good job, Like I like dan Rolovsky.
But it's like all of a sudden, now people have
gotten into this thing to where they're like, hey, you
should just trade for coaches. Okay, Like Mike Florio threw
(02:17:15):
this out through the you know Bears, Kyle Shannon and
you should trade for Kyle Shanahan, And for some reason
people like took that and ran with it. And my
whole point at the time was like, well, like, first
of all, there's two reasons why it's not gonna happen.
Number one because the forty nine ers aren't doing it,
and number two because it's the Bears. Again, I said
it at the time, like if you sent the Bears
(02:17:38):
to the grocery store for eggs, they come back with
a bottle of Jack Daniels, like they don't like it's
not like whatever makes sense, They're not gonna do so
why you like, what do we so it just but
then like you know, that wasn't enough, so that that
had to stir up Morka and then Kevin O'Connell's name
(02:17:59):
was brought up. Oh well, maybe somebody will trade for
Kevin O'Connell. It's like, okay, no, nobody's trading for Kevin O'Connell.
They're gonna get a deal done. The Vikings aren't letting
him walk.
Speaker 5 (02:18:08):
Who just got to stop?
Speaker 3 (02:18:10):
And so now it's like, well, maybe the Bears should
trade for Mike Tomlin if he loses his playoff game.
It's like, Okay, well that's not gonna happen. It's not.
But what is funny about the Lamar Jackson Mike Tomlin
discussion is that we can have it like like, like,
if Mike Tomlin loses this game, which they are predicted
(02:18:31):
to lose based on the betting odds, it's going to
be another year since their last playoff win, and it's
gonna be another year since their last super Bowl appearance.
Then it's gonna be another year since their last super
Bowl win. I mean yeah, listen, fourteen years since a
super Bowl appearance. Long ass time. It is, like sixteen
(02:18:53):
like since a super Bowl. It's a long time.
Speaker 5 (02:18:55):
Got it?
Speaker 3 (02:18:55):
Eight years since a win, like, I got it. So
it is it's a very very long time. Lamar Jackson
struggles in the postseason, I get it. He's got the
MVP s should probably want another one this year. He won't,
Like he's got all the credentials of the world, but
he doesn't. Like we could have that discussion on both
(02:19:16):
of those, and you know the problem with those discussions.
None of it matters. And you want to know why,
because nothing's gonna change. If Lamar Jackson loses his playoff game,
what are the Ravens gonna do? Trade him? He's not
going anywhere. You're not gonna get better than Lamar Jackson
(02:19:37):
unless it's Patrick Mahomes or maybe Joe Burrow. Other than that, Like,
what are you gonna do? You're gonna trade him? So
what's the point? Like if Mike Tomlin and the Steelers
lose this game, which they're probably going to, what what
the point of the conversation. Nothing's gonna change. That organization's loyal.
(02:19:58):
That's what makes them successful. They don't just walk away
from coaches. They don't. They've had three since the sixties,
like something like the Panthers have had sixties since two
thousand and three. Like I just like the whole thing is,
they don't They're not going to walk away from their coach.
(02:20:19):
Like it's not happening. It's like your buddy who keeps
complaining about the relationship he's in.
Speaker 5 (02:20:26):
It's like, oh yeah, it's like listen.
Speaker 3 (02:20:28):
The first couple of times you get it like yeah,
and listen, man, I man, that's rough, Like she did
what to you? Like that's man, that's terrible. And then
like after a certain amount of time, you're just like,
all right, so what what do you Why are you
even saying this? You're not gonna leave her, Like it's
not because the relationship's not gonna end. So what's the
point of the discussion. Like Lamar Jackson is a Baltimore Raven.
(02:20:51):
They could go out tonight on Prime video and get
annihilated by the Steelers, and Lamar Jackson could throw four
picks and you could have the discussion about all his
playoff struggles and his failures, and guess what week one
next year, Guess who's the starting quarterback for the ravens
Lamar Jackson, And guess who will be in the top
three to four odds of MVP next year. Lamar Jackson
(02:21:17):
doesn't matter. Pittsburgh could get ripped in half by Baltimore
in this game. They could get destroyed by forty Mike
Tomlin could challenge two plays that he shouldn't have bloan
his time management, like put his foot out and tried
to trip somebody on a kickoff for turn again, Like oh,
(02:21:39):
and guess what's going to happen week one next year?
Guess who's going to be the head coach of the Steelers,
Mike Tomlin. None of it matters. Got she did this
to me, She did that to me. I can't stand this.
So I don't like her, mom, And I'm like, okay, cool,
you leave it her No, so why are you talking
about it? At the Jonas Knocks on AX at the
(02:22:00):
Jonas Knox and X By the way, a reminder count
Down to Kickoff? That's right, football fans, be sure to

So coming up next here we are going to get
a look into, you know, some people that are being
very judgmental when it comes to a certain coach in
(02:22:43):
the National Football League. We will get into that for
you here on FSR, but for all the latest from
around the world of sports, including what apparently has turned
into a turnover fest in Houston. The one the only
ladies and gentlemen, she is MONSI.
Speaker 6 (02:23:11):
You, yeah, that's right here, we are.
Speaker 5 (02:23:17):
The Hell's going on in Houston? Huh?
Speaker 3 (02:23:19):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (02:23:20):
I don't you know.
Speaker 5 (02:23:21):
It's like I've had all the emotions.
Speaker 6 (02:23:23):
I've been happy, I've been excited, and then I've been like,
what the heck was that?
Speaker 5 (02:23:27):
But I feel like the Houston fans are feeling the
exact same way.
Speaker 6 (02:23:31):
The NFL playoffs officially underway now that the Chargers and
the Texans are at it.
Speaker 5 (02:23:36):
On the Chargers opening drive, they got a field goal
out of it.
Speaker 6 (02:23:39):
On the Texans opening drive, they fumbled, so the Chargers
got another field goal out of it.
Speaker 5 (02:23:44):
Then ninety seconds ago CJ. Stroud threw a pick. Chargers
got the ball back.
Speaker 6 (02:23:48):
Thirty seconds ago, Justin Herbert threw a pick, so Houston
has the ball back, but La is on top six
zero early in the second quarter. Justin Herbert seven or
fourteen seventy eight yards of that pick.
Speaker 5 (02:23:59):
I just mentioned. CJ.
Speaker 6 (02:24:00):
Strown five of nine to fifty six yards that pick
I just mentioned as well.
Speaker 5 (02:24:04):
Joe Mixon has three carries six yards. JK.
Speaker 6 (02:24:06):
Dobbins has six carries and twenty three yards, So plenty
of game to go for this one. Following this game,
we've got the Ravens and the Steelers.
Speaker 5 (02:24:15):
Kickoff is at eight eastern.
Speaker 6 (02:24:16):
An NFL network reported that the Steelers plan to use
quarterback Justin Fields to give their offense a spark.
Speaker 5 (02:24:23):
So we'll see what their plan is once they get going.
In college hoops, one game going on right now.
Speaker 6 (02:24:29):
Number eight Florida beating Arkansas thirty eight to twenty nine
with about fifteen minutes to go in the game.
Speaker 5 (02:24:34):
Number three Iowa Stay came.
Speaker 6 (02:24:36):
Back to edge Texas Tech eighty five eighty four in overtime.
Number two Auburn survived sixty sixty to sixty three against
South Carolina, and number four Duke defeated Notre Dame eighty
six seventy eight behind Cooper Flagg, who dropped forty two points.
He also had six rebounds and seven assists. Usc is
the only one that had the upset today over number
thirteen Illinois, eighty two seventy two, Number eleven Kansas, Number
(02:24:59):
nineteen Memphis. They won on the ice, the Bruins edge
the Panthers four to three. Currently going on Senators shutting
out the Penguins five zero with five minutes to go
in the second period. The Sabers are on top of
the crake In two to one, also five minutes to
go in the second period. And in the NBA after
the first quarter, the Suns are beating the Jazz thirty
one to twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (02:25:20):
Jonahs, it's been fun, Monty. Are you gonna be all
with Steve Hartman?
Speaker 13 (02:25:25):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (02:25:25):
Yes, like a half hour?
Speaker 5 (02:25:27):
No wait wait, do it again? Say that again?
Speaker 3 (02:25:29):
The Monty living the dream, Living the dream, Donator.
Speaker 5 (02:25:33):
I was trying to get seemed to hear it. I
was trying to get seemed to hear.
Speaker 3 (02:25:37):
Jonahs, So Jave Hartman, the Monthy's living the dream here
on a Saturday Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (02:25:43):
There you got. I want to make me sitting with me.
Speaker 6 (02:25:46):
So I was like, say it again, so I can
take my mic out and then you get here, you
can hear you.
Speaker 5 (02:25:50):
Yes, we are ready to.
Speaker 6 (02:25:51):
Take over for you, so you can take a break.
Coming in clutch for four hours. That's coming and clutch.
Speaker 5 (02:25:57):
Chat's what we're doing.
Speaker 3 (02:25:58):
We're playing grab ass and talking.
Speaker 5 (02:26:00):
We really are though, No, no, absolutely, the real heroes are.
Speaker 6 (02:26:03):
Those guys flying those helicopters dropping that water in ways
that I just can't I'm.
Speaker 5 (02:26:09):
Like, how did you do that? It is a wild thing.
Speaker 3 (02:26:12):
I don't think people around the country like everyone has
like their own Depending where you are, you get hurricanes, tornadoes,
all that stuff. But it is weird when you are
driving on a freeway and you see a giant plane
and it's going back and forth dropping water and repellent
all over fires that are lighting up the hills that
(02:26:32):
you're driving past.
Speaker 5 (02:26:33):
It's just weird and it's weird and it's incredible, and
I'm just like, how.
Speaker 9 (02:26:37):
Yeah, how yeah they are.
Speaker 3 (02:26:39):
They've done a hell of a job with absolute limited
things at their disposal.
Speaker 5 (02:26:44):
So definitely, definitely, I'm pretty impressive.
Speaker 3 (02:26:46):
But thank you, man, you appreciate that.
Speaker 6 (02:26:48):
I was going to ask you also before you go,
how was that a Penn State notre Dame game going
with LeVar and Brady, were you like in the middle
where you like, okay, oh I'm not fighting all right?
Speaker 5 (02:27:00):
So you know me, I didn't you encourage the fighting.
Speaker 3 (02:27:04):
I could pick a side, or I could pick both sides.
Speaker 5 (02:27:07):
I stir it up a.
Speaker 3 (02:27:08):
Little bit, exactly. That's what I chose to do.
Speaker 8 (02:27:09):
Nice.
Speaker 5 (02:27:10):
Nice, Yeah, you know, you take your shots where you
can take your shop.
Speaker 6 (02:27:12):
I love.
Speaker 9 (02:27:12):
Yeah, it was fun.
Speaker 5 (02:27:13):
Might listen the Orange Bowl.
Speaker 3 (02:27:15):
They did a tremendous job putting on the event, and,
like I said earlier, one of the loudest venues I've
ever heard it. I was not expecting that it's a
neutral site game, but both schools, both programs, both fan
bases represented themselves really well.
Speaker 5 (02:27:28):
So it was fun.
Speaker 3 (02:27:29):
And everyone's going to be cheering for Notre Dame against
Ohio State because nobody likes Ohio State apparently.
Speaker 5 (02:27:34):
Apparently.
Speaker 3 (02:27:34):
Yeah, but all right, Monts, get ready, get ready? Yeah,
all right, so stick around, Monty and Stee will take
over here. Coming up top of the hour, it is
Jonas Knox on Fox Sports Radio. We are going to
close up shop coming up here in about ten minutes
from now with another edition of the scraps. We've not
done this in a little while because we have been
inundated with football. We've got Knox locks also recap Knox
(02:27:57):
looks as well too. That'll be yours here again ten
minutes from now from the tiraq dot com studios. I
have seen this that I think is kind of funny.
So there's been some speculation about certain coaches that are
out there. We were talking about this earlier that apparently
everybody's interested in the Raider's job. Now apparently Belichick's name
has been throwing floated out there. Vinnie Bonsignor said Dion
(02:28:18):
Sanders would have interest in the job. Ben Johnson potentially
gonna have interest in it because Tom Brady's intrigued by
the idea of Ben Johnson. And I look at it
and I go, okay, so who's the quarterback? What's the plan?
How you competing in that division with no court like it?
Just but like you know, Pete Carroll's also interviewing for
the Raiders job, and Pete Carroll interviewed for the Bear's job,
(02:28:39):
and Pete Carroll's name is popped up. And what's funny
about this is I feel like there's kind of there's
people that are looking at Pete Carroll's name getting brought
up and almost kind of being dismissive about it and
whether it's his age or whatnot. There's gonna know Pete Carrell,
come on, and I'm like, wait, what do you know
(02:29:01):
what Pete Carroll has done in his career? Like he's
like an incredible career. The guys made the playoffs like
twelve out of eighteen years that he's coached. And that's
not just with Seattle, that was with New.
Speaker 5 (02:29:15):
England as well too.
Speaker 3 (02:29:17):
Like he's had a really really good career. Like he's
done some things as a coach that very few people
have done. Super Bowl, National Championship. And it's like, if
you want to look at it and go what about
his age, It's like, okay, well you can do that,
but I would also consider the source. If you're a
team that is currently hiring a coach, you are one
(02:29:39):
of the following franchises. Right, these are the teams that
are currently hiring coaches in the NFL. And you'll notice
something about all of these teams in the NFL. The Patriots,
the Jets, the Jaguars, the Raiders, the Saints, the Bears.
Speaker 5 (02:30:02):
You don't want all of those teams have in common.
Speaker 3 (02:30:05):
They're all awful, all of them. You are not in
a position to tell Pete Carroll or Pete Carroll's representatives, no,
you're not the guy for the gig.
Speaker 2 (02:30:20):
No.
Speaker 3 (02:30:21):
If Pete Carroll wants to talk to your team and
is interested in the job, absolutely have the conversation. If
you don't want to hire him because you feel like
you've got a better prospector you've got somebody that's up
and coming and you think they're going to be a
better fit for the team, totally get it. But this
idea that you just dismissed Pete Carroll's name, when it
gets brought up, he goes, oh, well, you know, it's
just I mean, it's Pete Carroll. Like really, it's no, No, Yeah,
(02:30:43):
that's Pete Carroll. Yes, that's Pete Carroll. That guy has
had an amazing career as a coach. Now did he
get out of dodge at USC because some stuff was
coming down the pike? Listen, hey, you know say hey,
you know you gotta go. Why don't know what to
tell you? Like it today? Ooha got a problem that
(02:31:05):
we are okay, check please like it's fine, but like
this idea that like these teams are like in these franchises,
like nah, no, we'd be interested in talking to him,
but not here. It's like, stop, You're not in a
position to dictate anything to anybody. Your team sucks. You
should have a conversation with whoever wants to have a
(02:31:26):
conversation with you, and you should kick the tires on
anything to try and get better. I don't think if
Pete Carroll wants to have a discussion, you have that discussion,
and you have that discussion as fast as possible, and
you be honored to have that discussion at the Jonas
Knocks on X. At the Jonas Knocks On X coming
up next here, we are going to close up shop
with some things in the world of sports and beyond
(02:31:47):
we have not had a chance to get to. It
is the scraps and it's yours here on FSR. You're
an idiot, Chris, anybody you're listening. In the last four hours,
we finally come on the air and christicides to use
the circumstances which were not on the air for as
(02:32:11):
his theme of the show when it comes to bounce
back music, So listen.
Speaker 11 (02:32:17):
I was excited to get in here. I was four
or five hours delayed. I'm the first person in here
turning on all the lights making sure that we are
not indeed on fire. Yeah, I'm hell a little fun.
We have four hours of you for the first time.
Speaker 9 (02:32:29):
Since we used to do overnight Jonas.
Speaker 3 (02:32:31):
Yeah, long time, long time Jonas NOx here on Fox
Sports Radio. But yeah, listen, and for those of you
that are just tuning in, we open up the show
kind of mentioning obviously Fox Sports Radio was running, you know,
some previously recorded content that was playing throughout the overnight
and into the early portion of today because there was
(02:32:53):
a real threat that we were going to be evacuated
in the Sherman Oaks area where the studio is located
because of the fires, and so we were the first
show back on and my thoughts were with everybody that's
been impacted by the fires. It's been a crazy week here,
a weird week for everybody in Southern California. So hopefully
things continue to improve. We get some solutions to a
(02:33:17):
lot of and answers to a lot of questions that
a lot of people here in Southern California have as
to why this is happening, why it got as bad
as it is, and hopefully we're able to comfort and
entertain some people for a few hours here to open
up the Saturday slate of shows here on FSO.
Speaker 9 (02:33:33):
And to be clear, and to be clear, like I'm
not trying to make light of it.
Speaker 11 (02:33:37):
This is just kind of how I process a lot
of this is just kind of laughing at the situation
just because I have nothing else to do. I'm in
a slightly okay part myself. I know my cousin shout
out to her. She had to move out of Pasadena
right now. So yeah, it hits all of us, and
you can process it so many ways.
Speaker 3 (02:33:55):
It's and look, we you know, wanted to play it
safe here and that's why they kept the studio clear
until we get the green light that everything was good
to go. So it's been a fun four hours here
on the show. Make sure you stick around more entertainment
with Moncy Belano's and Steve Harmon.
Speaker 5 (02:34:10):
They will take over the airwaves here a little over
ten minutes from now.
Speaker 3 (02:34:13):
A check in on the score fest that is the
opening game of the NFL Playoffs six Nothing Chargers, three
and a half minutes left to go in the first half.
The defenses look great, quarterbacks are struggling. Feels like the
Chargers had an opportunity to be up by at least
double digits in this game and they have not been
(02:34:35):
able to punch through. After an early turnover, they turned
the ball over themselves, but they are getting after it.
Both defenses are playing well, So Monsey and Steve will
have you covered on this game throughout the course of
the show. Also a reminder of Knox locks for those
of you just tuning in. We like the Chargers minus
two and a half. We like the Steelers plus nine
(02:34:56):
and a half, Bills minus eight, like the Eagles minus
four and a half, Bucks minus three, and the Vikings
minus two and a half. Obviously that game which was
moved because of the wildfires out here to Monday night
in Arizona. So if you've missed any of the show
throughout the course of the show, anything that you miss
you can check out the podcast just search Fox Sports
(02:35:17):
Radio wherever you get your podcast. Be sure to also
follow rate and review it again. Just search Fox Sports
Radio wherever you get your podcasts. You'll see this show
posted right after we get off the air. I will
also tweet out a link to this show as well
too at the Jonas Knox after we get done here.
But right now, for the first time in a long time,
it's something we do, a little something called this, Jonas, moron.
Speaker 2 (02:35:39):
How could you not get to these stories, you moron?
Speaker 3 (02:35:43):
These are the scraps? All right, Patrick Sweek, What the
hell have we missed.
Speaker 5 (02:35:48):
So far on the show?
Speaker 10 (02:35:48):
All right, well, Jonas, I'm gonna this first one, Lord,
this is the scraps. Well, I got a guy that's
been scrapping around and find for his life in the
NBA with you know well and beating Andrey drummonder out
Ben Alfa pastor game. So you know who's been really
fighting hard for it, Well, that would be Paul Pierce.
What's Paul Pierce? Paul George. Sorry, So apparently he's been
(02:36:10):
bored defending centers because they don't really have any other centers.
Speaker 8 (02:36:14):
Ago, he says, it just doesn't do it for me.
Speaker 10 (02:36:17):
I'm just getting I'm scrapping around with all these guys
and I kind of want to go back to my
old position, and he's just kind of making a stink
about it.
Speaker 3 (02:36:25):
It's a listen, Paul, you know the sixers would like
to go back to their old rotation too, like like
what do you want?
Speaker 2 (02:36:31):
Like I did?
Speaker 5 (02:36:33):
It's been a mess, Like.
Speaker 3 (02:36:35):
The Joel Embiid stuff is weird. He gets mad because
like a team meeting gets leaked out and he's Tyrese
Max he called it. It's just like the seventy six
ers have been a mess all year long. It hasn't
work out. It feel like they were snake bit from
the get go, which it went in the preseason. There
was the issue with Paul George and he hurt his
(02:36:55):
knee like hyper extended. It's just like the it's what
can go wrong has gone wrong for Philly and they
are nowhere close.
Speaker 5 (02:37:02):
To what everybody thought they were going to be entering
into the season.
Speaker 10 (02:37:05):
What else we got, pat All right, well, Jonas, there
is another NFL one. So apparently the league is in
fact going to start review seting the seating format for
playoffs since you know, there are three teams with the
better record that are facing you know, road games in
the playoffs.
Speaker 8 (02:37:20):
So they're actually gonna take a little look into this apparently.
So it's it's actually being you know, humorously thought around.
Speaker 3 (02:37:27):
Right now, Well, here's the problem. And look, I mean
it's an easy fix. You would take the four and
the five seed. If the five seed's got a better
record than the four seed. I mentioned this last week.
You make the five seed the home team and you
make the four seed the road team. The problem is
the four seed. And because they put a premium on
winning your division, that involves playoff revenue for home games,
(02:37:48):
and those owners aren't going to want to give up
the playoff revenue for home games if they won their division.
So they can sit here and say, yeah, we'll discuss it,
we'll take it under advisement. We'll have a conversation about it.
They can have whatever conversation they want about it. I
would find it hard to believe that it gets changed.
It should get changed, but it probably won't. This is
the way the NFL operates, and they want to give
(02:38:09):
out and reward divisional championships for some godly reason. This
has been a fun one. Be safe out there, everybody.
