Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio. You know, somebody
must really really really not like to their current situation.
We'll get into that for you here. It's an NFL
story and it's yours coming up here just a couple
of moments from now, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You
can listen to this show as always on the iHeartRadio app.
You can find us on hundreds of affiliates all across
(00:23):
the country and no matter where you are. We appreciate
you making us a part of your Saturday morning into
the afternoon here as we take you all the way
up until four pm Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific. So
the big news out of the NFL. Derek Carr has
announced his retirement. Thirty four years old. He's played for
eleven seasons. You know, he's had, I guess, a pretty
(00:47):
decent NFL career all things considered. He was part of
that Khalil Mack draft class for the Raiders. I can
remember thinking at the time when the Raiders decided to
move on from him, Yeah, they're probably gonna regret that.
You know, they're probably gonna regret moving on from Derek Carr.
It feels like that would have alleviated some of the
issues they had going on there. Despite what you think
about him, he was a pretty decent quarterback and Davante
(01:09):
Adams and that sort of unraveling had a lot to
do with him deciding to move on from Derek Carr,
who is mainly the reason why he wanted to sign
with the Raiders. So Derek Carr's out, he's gone. Now.
We've discussed this, and we discussed it about a month ago,
maybe on this show that sometimes people tell you a
(01:32):
story and you're looking at him and you're nodding your
head like yeah. In in the back of your mind you're like, yeah,
that doesn't make any sense at all whatsoever. Derek Carr
pops up with this shoulder issue and it may put
his season in jeopardy. It's broke, it's broke, it's broke,
and it's like, yeah, okay, but now you just figured
(01:56):
it out and apparently this is an injury he suffered
in Week fourteen against the Giants, the same week that
he suffered a concussion and also another injury as well too,
And so Derek Carr, in ramping up in the offseason,
realized he's got this issue with his shoulder. He didn't
know how bad it was, and so they've looked into everything.
Now the story is that he could rehabit, that he
(02:19):
could go and rehab and try some other stuff nonsurgical,
and maybe he would get back to about seventy five percent.
But if he wanted to get back to full strength,
he would need to undergo surgery, and the timeline would
have been about four to six months. So he decided
now I'm out. And all that tells me is that
he must have really wanted out of New Orleans, like
(02:42):
really bad, because if he would have just had the
surgery and hung out on IR, he would have pocketed
thirty million dollars. Instead, they worked to some sort of
an agreement. He keeps his ten million, and he just says, hey, listen,
I gotta go. That's it, gotta go. To be honest
with you, man, it sounds to me like this was
(03:05):
a common case of I'm willing to work sick for
one job, I'm just not willing to do it for another.
Perfect example. I have never called in sick in the
history of my radio career. Literally, not used one sick
day in the history of my radio career, not one
(03:29):
and I've been doing this almost fifteen years. Never one time,
and you can ask any boss I've worked for, anybody.
Never one time have I called in sick ever, not once.
But when I was a telemarketer, Oh my god, I
feel sick. You out of your mind. If a bird
(03:53):
didn't even have to take a dump on me, A
bird could crap in the vicinity of me, and I
would claim poisoning. If somebody else got stabbed, I'd say
it was me. I used COVID before COVID existed. I
didn't even know what wuhan or lab was, and I
(04:15):
was using that as the excuse because I couldn't stand
the place I was at. I gotta go. I gotta
get out of there. And look, you know the feeling
you work a job you don't like when do you
drive the speed limit or a little before when you're
trying to avoid getting to the place you got to
go to. And I did all of that. I drove
(04:39):
as slow as I could, I took detours. When I
had lunch, I left the office and I didn't even eat.
I just wanted out of the place, like I couldn't
stand the place. So anytime I had an opportunity, any opportunity,
and it was a job that was if you put
your foot down and actually like pressed on the gas
(05:02):
and went after it, you could have made a lot
of money. But I was so miserable and I just
liked the place so much. I had to go get
into radio. Never called in sick once because I love
it. It's great. It's great, love it. Don't feel good, don't care, tired,
don't care. I woke up at one in the morning
to go to work during the week. Don't care, good, whatever,
(05:26):
We're fine. Derek Carr had the opportunity to recover, go
through the surgery, make his thirty million, and be good
with it, and instead he's like, now we're good here,
I'm out of here, and you can say no, no.
Maybe he just doesn't want to go through the process.
He doesn't want to go through the reabb he doesn't
want to go through all that stuff. Yeah, and I
would believe all that except for all the other stories
(05:48):
that came out this offseason, you know, like maybe he
wasn't happy with his contract in his current situation, he
wanted some long term security, or you know, maybe there
was a trade that almost happen and you know things
like that. Derek Carr is a guest speaker at a
church in Las Vegas. He pushes back on all the
(06:08):
reporters and all that, which I'm sure listen if I
was going to church, I'll be at church later. My
wife goes every week. We go every week, we take
our son. I mean, that's what I want to hear.
I want to hear a quarterback or a player from
another team explain to me why some podcasts got it
wrong out of my injury. That's what I want to hear.
(06:31):
The body of noos hold on, Hold on a second,
he's hold on told he's addressing his shoulder issue. It's like,
come on, dude, Like come on, there's just too much
stuff that's happened here for me to just take it
at face value and be like, Yeah, he doesn't want
to go through all that. He's ready to retire, and look,
I don't blame him. Maybe he's not happy there. Maybe
(06:53):
he thought. Look, I was under the impression we were
going to be in a different situation. Now we've got
a new coach, it's a new regime. I don't want
to go through all that. I'd rather go somewhere else.
They couldn't work out of trade, the compensation, whatever it is.
I look at this and I go, that's a guy
who just didn't want to be there as much as
(07:14):
he maybe didn't want to go through the process of
rehabbing all that, he just didn't want to be there.
And look, maybe he didn't like New Orleans. I was
in New Orleans for Super Bowl Week. I get it,
you know what I mean, Like there's uh, well, Dice
(07:34):
see certain parts, you know, like maybe it's maybe it's
not the nicest thing in the world. You know when
somebody walks up to you and says, hey, would you
like a candy bar? And you gotta pull out some
cash and next thing, you know, like just it just
you know, maybe there's that. We're just speculating here. We're
just throwing out possibilities. And the reason why we're allowed
to throw out possibilities, and the reason why we're allowed
(07:56):
to speculate is because a lot of this story involving
dar Car just hasn't made sense all off season. It
just hasn't like you could say, well, he's injury Okay,
well maybe he suffered some injuries, but that guy's also
battled through some injuries. It's not like he's soft. It's
(08:19):
not like teammates hate him and question his like. There's
not really any of that. Even Antonio Brown. There was
a clip that was posted a short time ago on
social media where he was talking about Antonio Brown and
how he loved a b and their time in Vegas.
He was on with you know, pardon my take, and
they were talking about now, Derek Carr thought he was
gonna win MVP and all this, and even Antonio Brown said, yeah,
(08:42):
I love that guy too, even Antonio Brown. Antonio Brown,
who is the can man on social media because anybody
can get it, he does not care, does not care. Now,
maybe Derek Carr is trying to, you know, trying to
butter him up so he can win Cracker of the Day.
(09:03):
I don't know. I mean, he's gonna have to battle
me for it. But I'm just telling you a lot
of this offseason hasn't added up. And my conclusion is
Derek Carr just didn't want to be there. He really
didn't want to be there. If it was another situation,
maybe he would have been more open minded to go
(09:24):
through the rehab process. Maybe he would have been willing
to come back to seventy five percent. Much like I
was willing to work sick when I started doing radio,
and not so much when I was working a job
I couldn't stand. Some things are worth it and some
things aren't. And I believe Derek Carr at this point
of his career looked at the situation in New Orleans
(09:46):
and said, no, I'm good here, and it would not
surprise me at all whatsoever if we see him play
again in the National Football League. Jonas Knox here Fox
Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox

always on the iHeartRadio app. By the way, you can

edition of do You Care? Speaking of positivity? Always fun
to do that. We've also got the scraps coming up
to close up shop an hour two. All of it
(10:31):
is yours here on this two hour extravaganza. But somebody
has really really missed an opportunity. They have missed an
opportunity big time in the NFL, and I'll tell you
who that is next. Sorry for being emotional.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
I'm just pissed off, and as a leader, that pisces
me off.
Speaker 3 (10:55):

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Oh man, See, this is one of the perks to
having Alex tyshirt in running the uh running the ones
and twos as they say, extra cockfights. Yeah, it's one
of the perks cause he's got Rob Parker's playlist. So
this helps for everybody. I'm a woman, I know I
(11:33):
had a glizzy in my mouth. Gig up, stop it,
you got a tissue for me. It's the gigagoat the
greatest glizzy of all time. Giggle little gig up. Jonas
(11:53):
Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up a little over ten
minutes from now, we are going to be the Defense
League All right, we are going to be the defense league,
the defense team for somebody that is getting a little
bit of criticism. But I'm gonna explain why they did
what they did. That'll be yours here again a little
(12:14):
over ten minutes from now here on FSR. So, the
Cleveland Browns are in the news, and they've been in
the news for the past couple of weeks because the
Cleveland Browns decided, you know what, we're going to take
shad Or Sanders, even though we already took Dylan Gabriel
in the draft. We're going to take shad Or Sanders.
(12:35):
And they were so kind to do so while we
were on the air, so we had the breaking news.
Isaac Lohenkron gave the breaking news on shod Or Sanders
being drafted by the Cleveland Browns. You know, maybe one
of the great great breaking news clips that we've ever
(12:56):
done here at Fox Sports Radio. Just ask him. And
Isaac was so to do that. And so the Cleveland
Browns were kind enough to throw us that gift, and
they've been kind enough to throw the NFL the gift
of the publicity and the constant conversation about Shador Sanders.
I mean constant. I mean there's first repd Like, I
haven't heard a single thing about cam Ward. I can't
(13:18):
stop hearing things about shad Or Sanders. And cam Ward
was the first player taken. It is wild and so
the Browns have got these rookie OTAs. It's your first
glimpse at rookies getting NFL action, practicing with their teams,
(13:38):
and some people took notice. They took notice of the
fact that well, you know, listen, I mean when the
rookies came out on offense, Dylan Gabriel got the first
reps and not Shudor Sanders. So of course Kevin Stefanski
was asked about that and had this to say, Yeah,
I wouldn't look into anything.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
I think you'll see the whole weekend going through the spring.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
I mean, we don't pay too close attention to who's
in their first Yeah, here's the problem. It's Shadoor Sanders.
And this has already become, for lack of a better term,
the circus that everybody assumed it was going to be.
I mean, we are getting daily updates like there was
(14:23):
another like they were trying to figure out, you know,
because he's got this highest selling rookie jersey. At one point,
he did I haven't cared enough to look into it,
I'll be honest with you, But at one point he
had the highest selling rookie jersey. They didn't even know
what his number was going to be. They didn't even
know if the guy's going to make the roster. It's
a fifth round pick, they don't know. And so he's
got the highest selling jersey without even knowing what the
(14:44):
number is. Now you're probably thinking, you know, big deal
is just a number. Well, I mean, no offense, but
Abdul Carter in eleven lands a little different than fifty one.
Matthew Golden the the Packers chose twenty two. He's a
wide receiver. I'll pass. So Shadoor Sanders gets number twelve,
(15:09):
and of course somebody from shad Or Sanders camp, some
guy by the name of Boogie Night, not even making
that up. Boogie Night, Okay, like that's that's that's that's true,
a right not to be confused with, you know, Dirk Daggler,
but Boogie Night. Somebody from his camp apparently went to
social media and complained about it. Why does he get
the jersey? Why didn't he get number two. You gave
(15:31):
number two. It's like the whole things, but this is
what what you're getting, Like, this is the coverage, the
circus that comes along with this. And there's one entity
that's on the outside of this thing looking in, and
it's their own fault, HBO because if you were to
(15:54):
ask HBO right now, hey, if you could pick anybody
to be on Hard Knocks this summer, who would you pick.
There's not a person within that building that would pick
anybody other than the Cleveland Browns. I mean nobody, because
(16:15):
there's no storyline that people are tracking the way that
they're tracking Shadoor Sanders in the Cleveland Browns. And if
there's a late round rookie that's trying to get some
run and trying to get some coverage and trying to
make a roster, and you want to make for some
compelling television, that's the show that does it. Like you'll
(16:39):
fall in love with these guys watching Hard Knocks on
HBO and then they get cut and you're just devastated
and you don't even remember, Like three weeks later, you
remember you've got that in spades with Shador Sanders, the coverage,
the hoopla, everything that comes along with it. You have
that opportunity. But because HBO's got these rules, can't happen.
(17:06):
The NFL and HBO have these rules. There's these rules
where like, uh, look, if you've got a brand new
head coach, if you've been featured in the past ten years,
if you made the playoffs and once of the previous
two years, like blah blah blah blah blah, and I
just wonder if the NFL and if HBO are looking
at this going hey, man, like, uh well, what do
you guys say, Like, you know, like maybe it is
(17:29):
okay from time to time to bend the rules. Like
maybe like maybe it's mad, Like listen, I know what
we said, we don't want to do this, but you know,
maybe maybe there's an opportunity here. Maybe we kind of
you know, circumvent the system and the rule book and
we kind of figure out a way to kind of,
(17:50):
you know, let somebody be a part of all this,
and let somebody be a part of all this that
maybe shouldn't be allowed based on our rules. I mean,
you've you've created the parameters you could break him. I mean,
if you needed any more of an example that that's
the team they would choose. If you look to anywhere
(18:13):
else in the NFL and you found out that there
were two rookie quarterbacks and the guy who was drafted
before the other one got the first reps at practice,
that wouldn't have even been a question anywhere else. We Yeah,
of course he was. He was drafted before him, like,
you know, two rounds before him. If that happens anywhere
else in the NFL, not even a question during this
(18:36):
run at all. But because of the storylines attached to it,
that's why Kevin Stefancy's being asked about it. So I'm
just saying, HBO, NFL, if you want to resurrect that
awful show, that terrible show, there's one team you do
it with. It's the team with the most interesting storyline
(18:58):
going into it. Oh and by the way, you might
get yourself a little bonus. Maybe Deshaun Watson shows up
and everybody gives him like the creed. Like there's I mean,
there's all sorts of stuff you could do there, but
you just got to go ahead and bend your own
rules a little bit. And it it happens from time
(19:18):
to time. I can tell you as a parent, it
happens from time to time when I tell my son
he has to do something that he doesn't want to
do it, and I go, okay, I'll give it you
to the count of three, one, two, two and a half,
two and three quarters, two and seven and oh and
(19:41):
then then then he arrives. Sometimes you got to bend
your own rules. It happens from time to time. If
you're the NFL and your HBO, figure out a way
to make this work because that storyline is something everybody's
going to tune in for. Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio.

back at this moment in time in the world of sports.
(20:26):
That'll be yours here on FSR. But for all the
latest from around the world of sports, we turned over
to the man himself, the one and only, the prestigious,
the icon on the sports talk radio mountaintop. He stands
above all else. He is the magnificent Sir Isaac Longcron.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
That about covered it. Good day to you, Jonas, and
we start with the big news of the day from
the NFL.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
For hold on, what hold on? We're just gonna We're
gonna gloss over.
Speaker 4 (21:05):
You know you've had an attitude problem all from the
start of the show, Well hold.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
On, because listen, like, I'm trying to celebrate you, I'm
giving you compliments, and you just I feel unappreciated. I said,
thank you.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
It's just it wasn't Frankly, it wasn't long enough. And
you were clearly trying to make up for your crack
earlier when you uh ripped the characterization of the Shador
Sanders draft as the greatest update in Fox Sports Radio history.
Just ask him, just ask him.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
Wow, Well look but that like, how is that an insult?
That's I mean, that's true. Listen, I have it on
good authority that he remembers. Listen, I I on good
authority that Isaacs senior quote in his yearbook was nobody's perfect,
but I'm pretty close.
Speaker 4 (21:57):
Uh No, it was nobody's perfect except me. So you
you kind of had it right though I knew that. Oh,
I'll tell you what good for you to be doing
your investigative research. You are now officially back in my
good graces, He'll be.
Speaker 1 (22:17):
I mean, they don't call me show prep Jesus for nothing.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
No, I got to admit, I got to admit it
comes across that way for sure. The big story today
four time Pro Bowl quarterback Derek carve that Orland Saints
announcing his retirement after eleven seasons due to a torn
labraham as well as significant degenerative changes to his rotator cuff.
Here was Saints head coach and man who always looks
like he just ate a bad plam, Kellen Moore. A
(22:46):
short time ago.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
He did everything he could as he's gone through this,
He's communicated extremely well. He's worked really hard to put
himself in a position and yeah, ultimately this was the outcome.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
Today's NBA Playoff Action tips off What Hour from Now
with Game three from Madison Square Garden and the New
York Knicks leading the Boston Celtics two games to none
at eight thirty Eastern. Tonight, Game three from San Francisco
as the Golden State Warriors host to Minnesota Timberwolves, with
that series tied at one with a piece. Saturday, Stanley
Cup playoff action faces off at six pm Eastern from
(23:19):
Carolina with the Hurricanes and Washington Capitals tied at one
would apiece. Then at nine pm Eastern, it's Game three
from Edmonton with the Oilers holding a two games to
then lead over the Vegas Golden Knights. And the Oilers
announced a short time ago and they're making a change
in goal tonight. Stuart Skinner will get the start because
of an undisclosed injury to Calvin Pickard. And now back
(23:42):
to show prep Jesus himself Jonas Knox, I like it
that works for you, especially with the beer and all.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
By the way, I've got something that you could look
into because I watched it when it happened, you know
how Like hockey injuries, it's always very vague up body, low,
lower body, upper bid like all that crap, And that's
the most specific they get, baby yeah. And then then
afterwards you find out, oh no, like he actually died
after game two, they just rolled out a corpse for
(24:11):
the final remaining games of the season.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
That actually that actually did did happen back in back
in fifty one with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
Yeah, so like, look into is it pickered? Who's the
goalie for Edmonton? Who's out now? Calvin Pickard? Yes, yeah,
so there was a play later in that game where
he got tangled up and there's something with it there.
It might have been later in the second period, but
there's something with his left knee or left ankle.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
Yeah, telling you no, you know, you're right, Yeah, you're
not the only one who did notice that. Yes, he
did appear to have left leg discomfort during Game two,
but he stayed in and you know why.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
Hockey, you can't go no more, damn right baby. And
that game went to overtime, didn't it. M hmm Yeah,
good for him, man, good for him. Watch there's gonna
be like some devastating knee injury. And then you've got
other players that are like, listen, I can't make it,
you know, in other sports. Not to name other sports here,
because the last thing we want to do is disrespect
anybody else, but pretty much every other sport.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
I think the standard is basically all of hockey and you.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
In terms of playing hurt. Yeah, I agree on that
with you. Listen. I can't dispute that at all, and
I won't on that note of you. Check some of
your mentions lately. Yeah, they're not nice. That's all right, Look,
that's fine. I'm gonna persevere, just keep on keeping on.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
Oh by the way, here your latest mentioned which which
refers to me, uh, even even more personal, I would say, so,
I'll have you check check that out, and then you
can disclose it if you want, because it's like your show.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
I do know what you're what you're referring to. Yeah,
and that's correct.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
Okay, you know you're a bigger man than me for
admitting that negrelatively all right, Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up in about we'll call it less than fifteen
minutes from now, we are gonna have another edition of
Do You Care?
Speaker 1 (26:09):
And I gotta be honest with you. Somebody did something
that's that's really bizarre, and they're like like somebody that
if you listen to this show, you are very familiar
with this person. And they did something that needs to
be explained. I've got a lot of questions. Hopefully we've
got some answers that'll be yours here in another edition
(26:31):
of Do You Care less than fifteen minutes from now.
All right, so let me just I'd like to stick
up for somebody here, cause there's this whole thing where
like you got to like if you have a if
you have an animal that you're not kind to, like
if you have a dog that you're not kind to.
You know, like sometimes you get some of these rescue
(26:52):
dogs and you'll bring them home and they're they're still
like a little traumatized. Like we had this dog. We
went to this uh, went to this shelter because we're
looking to get a new dog. This is years and
years and years ago, and this dog. So we go
to this shelter. It's in Baldwin Park, which is out
here in southern California. And we go into this shelter
and you walk in there and they've got all these
(27:13):
different breeds and everything. Of course they've got all the
pit bulls on a separate you know, Oh, you got
to keep them away from everybody. Meanwhile, there's a chow
sitting there with blood all over his face because either
a rodent or something crawled on the top of his
cage and he climbed the cage and ripped this thing
through the fence and devoured it. He's fine, it's the
(27:35):
pit bulls over there you got to worry about. So,
needless to say, we didn't take the chow because I
didn't want to end up like one of those people
who have like pet orangutangs. And the orangutang turns five
and says, hey, thanks for having me. You guys are awesome.
I'd like to borrow the bridge at your nose for
a few weeks. So we get this dog, and this
(27:58):
dog was I mean so excited to get out and
so but for the rest of time, whenever he saw
a chainling fence, he freaked out. He was traumatized by it.
It's like you couldn't expect him to be of a
certain way based on what somebody else did to him.
And so I say all that to say this for
(28:19):
those of you sitting there criticizing Tyrese Haliburton, because how
dare he skip his media obligations postgame following that loss
to the Calves last night, I say this to you.
Screw you. That guy was warned by the NBA reprimanded,
(28:41):
you don't ever do that again. You're showing some personality.
Knock it off. He hits a big shot, the Pacers
won a big game, and he goes giant balls as
the celebration afterwards. Now people will look at that and say, well,
that's disrespectful and it's gross. First of all, he didn't disrobe.
(29:07):
He didn't disrobe, all right, So let's be clear here.
He didn't drop his trousers and show everybody his cash
and prizes. Didn't happen. He gave the impression that hey,
I got some you know what's to hit a shot
(29:28):
like that on the road in your building. And it
was also a tribute to the movie Major League two.
Now terrible movie, but that's beside the point. He was
paying homage to a movie franchise that was based in
the city. He just hit the shot in. And what
does the NBA do The zero personality allowed NBA unless
(29:53):
it's on their terms. The NBA says, hey, listen, we're
not going to find you, but don't you ever do
it again, because God forbid. In the heat of the moment,
the guy gives the impression that he's got a duffel
bag full of sumo wrestlers between his legs. God forbid.
It's the same thing with Ja Moran. Guy pulls out
(30:14):
an invisible UZI. He gets fine, okay, fine, take away
the UZI. What else you got? Okay, I'll go gatling
gun cool. If you wanted to do a throwback on
Throwback Night, he could pull out a musket, but the
NBA doesn't allow that, And so people are like, what
in't Tyreese Halliburton He's got all that? Why didn't he
talk to the media efforts? Why should he? I wouldn't
(30:37):
talk to the media either the rest of the playoffs?
Why should I? I can't have a little bit of
fun here. If you know Tyrese Haliburton's background, the guy
does stuff with the WWE. He's trying to create moments,
and the NBA can't just let it fly. Na, no, no, no,
we can't just let it fly. We can't. Meanwhile, Draymond
(30:58):
Green can assault players and it's just a technical But listen,
guy shows a little personality, lets everybody know what he's
working with in that moment, not literally, okay, And he
gets warned by the NBA, and you know what's gonna
happen next if you were to do it again, what
(31:20):
do you want to guess? Is it fifty? Is it
one hundred?
Speaker 5 (31:22):
Like?
Speaker 1 (31:22):
Let me you know what the NBA has probably said, Hey, listen,
Tyree Tyrese Saliburton, whatever you do, if you go ahead
and try and celebrate that again, you're getting popped twenty
five grand for every ball you drop. Right, So if
you were to go single, that's twenty five grand right
or left? Pick a ball, any ball. So if he
(31:45):
goes single testicle, he gets popped twenty five grand, and
the other one that'll be a full fifty. So if
I were him, why don't just test the waters drop one?
What are they gonna do? The point is I don't
blame the guy if I can't. We have a little
bit of personality after the game when we're winning. Why
should I have a personality or answer any questions after
(32:06):
a game when we lose? So I want to defend
Tyres Alliburton. If nobody else is going to support you,
just like I supported my guy John mort If nobody
else is going to have your back, I've got it.
I don't want your front, but I do have your
back at the Jonas Knox on X at the Jonas
Knocks on X and you can get us on Instagram
at Jonas Knox Show. Coming up next here though, one
(32:29):
of the weirder stories that hits very close to home
here at Fox Sports Radio that you will ever hear
in another edition of Do You Care? Right here on FSR.

What do you mean? Jonas? By the way, if you're
listening to the podcast, you're the lucky one. You're not
inundated with Blink one eighty eight or whatever they're called.
(33:13):
Let me play a louder for them. I will not
go carry me. Coming up top of next hour, a
little over twelve minutes from now here, we are going
to have a conversation and a look into exactly what
the reaction, what the feedback is on the big news,
the big breaking news out of the NFL from earlier today.
(33:36):
That'll be yours here on FSR. I want to let
you know though, that you can check out the Fox

Speaker 3 (33:57):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time
DMG reports. Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big
stories from the last week. But Jonas, the real question
is do you care?
Speaker 1 (34:13):
And for that we're gonna turn it over to our
executive producer, who, by the way, is in for Bo Benson.
Bo Benson pissed hot. That's a positive ped test. I
believe that's the second in the last three weeks for Bo.
So he did piss hot, and so Bo right now,
until further proof that he's a clean producer and that
(34:33):
he can actually do this on the up and up,
he will not be with us here. So maybe that'll
be next week and maybe it won't be. But right
now we turn it over to a familiar voice, the
one and only Patrick sweek, Patty, what's happening? What's going on? Guys?
Speaker 5 (34:46):
And you know what's kind of funny Jonas. For my
first do you care? Actually has to do kind of
with that sentiment that we're just holding right now, not
about bo but yeah about testing and you know, testing
hot here. So my first do you care?
Speaker 1 (35:00):
Jonas?
Speaker 5 (35:00):
Do you care that a certain host of ours not
named Andy Furman what may or may not have sent
a gift to the booth, to the Fox Sports booth,
to his producer. That's me Patrick, A wizinator, a wisinator, Jonas,
He sent me a wisinator to the studio.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Do you care? Yeah? I do care? So let me
get this straight. Yeah, so Andy Furman, uh huh sent
you a Wizinator?
Speaker 5 (35:32):
Correct?
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Did it have his picture on it?
Speaker 3 (35:37):
No?
Speaker 1 (35:39):
I don't get it. So why why would he have
sent you a Wizenator?
Speaker 5 (35:42):
Is there some Well, because we're talking about that that
you know, months ago, like the athletes, like with the
Wizenator and all that stuff, and it became an inside
Joe because I do that. I produced that their show
with him and Bucky, and all of a sudden, he goes,
I'm gonna buy you a Wizenator, and I just think
this is a real story.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
This is real.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Andy Furman sent you a Wizzenator. Yes, I have proof.
Jesus Christ. He can show you the picture. It's real.
Oh my god, like that that's up there. I mean,
I can remember one of Ben Maller's listeners sent him
an actual goat. Heead you want chicag I think Doc
(36:22):
Mike from Chicago sent him an actual goat head, like,
like an actual head of a goat. Like he sent
that in the mail one time. I know he gets
mail from from prison, you know. But yeah, he sent
an actual goat head. It was like the scene on
the movie seven where he's got that, you know, the
woman's head in the box out in the desert. Spoiler
alert she dies and loses her head. But I've never so.
(36:44):
Andy Furman legitimately sent you a Wisator.
Speaker 5 (36:48):
Yes, from Amazon's in an Amazon package.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
That is fantastic. I'll tell you, man, people they got nuts.
The guy's got an obsession with the mail, any excuse
to send, but it's now gone overboard. He's sending Wisonators,
which I didn't know they made anymore, but he's sending
those to his producers. You know what, Hey, it beats
whatever Arnie Spaniers sends you guys when he sends stuff
from Vermont and his wife packages for him, like the
(37:14):
same maple syrup every year and like a Vermont catamouts
Beanie when it's ninety degrees out here in the middle
of May. So I got a thank you, Andy? What
else we got?
Speaker 5 (37:25):
All? Right?
Speaker 1 (37:25):
Next, dude?
Speaker 5 (37:26):
Do you care that Red Sox DH Rafael Devers has
told his team that he will not make a second switch,
not a first. This is switching another time from DH
to first base. He's all mad about it.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
Do you care? Oh yeah, and let me tell you why.
Because it's it's a Red Sox and it's the coverage
this is going to get and it maybe will numb
all the pain of what could and should look like
an eventual playoff exit for the Celtics. This is going
to give people topics of conversation throughout the course of
the season. And if that's the case, I'm all next,
(38:01):
All right?
Speaker 5 (38:01):
Do you care Jonas that newly chose an American pope,
a Leo the fourteenth is not only a fellow Chicago
into you, Jonas, he's a noted white Sox and Dom
Bears fan.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
Do you care? No, not really, I don't care. I'm sorry, listen,
no disrespect, no disrespect. I'm happy for him first American
to get the honor and to get the title. It
was awesome from everything we've heard, great guy, legitimate sports fan.
I did like the idea of the Cubs trying to
claim him because they don't have enough coverage in that city.
They're trying to claim him. It's like, dude, give the
(38:35):
White Sox something like, give him something. The team sucks,
so if they can get a fan in the Pope,
give him at least that much. You've already got Wrigley Field,
you get most of the fandom, most of the celebration.
It's the greatest sports venue to watch a game at
in the country. You've got that much. Can you not
(38:56):
just throw him a bone and give him the pope? Next?
Staying on the Pope?
Speaker 5 (39:00):
Oh okay, then we're gonna go for snark on this one, Jonas,
Do you care that this newly chosen pope was selected,
in fact, one day faster than Shadeur Sanders was in
the NFL draft.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
So me, n there's that, And they also there was
another one that was out there. They're, oh, this pope Chicago.
Chicago got a pope before the Bears got a four
thousand yard passer.
Speaker 3 (39:22):
Ha ha ha.
Speaker 1 (39:23):
It's not very nice. People got to start being nice
to people on this show.
Speaker 5 (39:26):
Next, all right, Jonas. Last one, a Polish man ran
a marathon barefoot in record time, twenty six miles in
under five hours on frozen Norwegian sea ice.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
Do you care? No, I want to know what happened afterwards.
So he's running barefoot on a frozen patch of ice. Yep,
not a shot in hell. He's the same height as
he was before the race. Because those bad boys are
getting cut off. I'm sorry not to be spoiler here.
(39:56):
So now what now? What for one team in the NFL.
We'll get into that for you coming up here in
just a couple of moments from now, Jonas Knox, Fox
Sports Radio. You can hang out with us as always
on the iHeartRadio app. You can find us on hundreds
of affiliates all across the country and wherever you are
(40:17):
making us a part of your Saturday afternoon. We appreciate
you doing so. We are going to take you all
the way up until the end of this hour, four
pm Eastern time, one o'clock Spacific. If you're just tuning
in the big breaking news from earlier today out of
the NFL, Derek Carr has retired. He has retired after
(40:37):
eleven years. He's thirty four years old and he's just
gonna call it a career. And the situation surrounding cars
this he realized, at least this is the story that
while ramping up in the off season, he's got something
going on with his shoulder. If he decided to not
get surgery, he could come back and it would be
(40:59):
at about seventy five percent that according to Mike Garretfolo.
And if he decided to have the surgery to get
it done and get it repaired, that would set him
back in the timeline for recovery would be four to
six months. And so Derek Carr decided, you know what,
I'm just going to walk away. And by walking away,
he gives up thirty million dollars because he could have
(41:21):
been on IR and made his thirty million dollars. And
that was that. I view it as, Yeah, being the
Saints kind of help the situation. The Saints being there
kind of helped the situation. You know, and being where
they're at kind of helped the situation because there's certain
situations you're willing to go through discomfort and go through
(41:43):
agony if you will, and go through sort of the
the breaking down and having to come back like you're
you're willing to go through that in certain situations and
other situations you're just not. Some things are worth it,
some things aren't. And I believe Derek car didn't want
to be there, and I think that also helped his decision.
It would not surprise me if he decided to come back.
(42:04):
But I look at it and I go, man, this
offseason there's just been some weird storylines. There's been some
weird stuff that's come out. If you want to go
back to a few weeks ago where there was stuff
about you know, maybe he wanted to get traded, you know,
did he you know, was he unhappy with this contract?
(42:27):
Where we was Derek Carr, you know, looking at it
and saying, yeah, listen, man, I just you know, I'm
not sure about this situation here. If I could get
some long term security, maybe that would be its Just
the whole off season was weird. Just it was weird,
and then it comes out all that he's got this
shoulder issue that happened in week fourteen and he didn't
really try and test the shoulder until until afterwards, and
(42:49):
it just a lot of it doesn't add up. And
he's pushing back at some of the commentary on it
because he's a guest speaker in Las Vegas at a
you know, I mean, you know, not a guest speaker
New Orleans where he plays, but like in Las Vegas
where he used to play. It's just the whole thing's
the whole thing is weird. And so Kellen Moore was
asked about the situation the brand new head coach of
(43:09):
the New Orleans Saints and had this to say.
Speaker 2 (43:11):
He did everything he could as he's gone through this,
He's communicated extremely well, He's worked really hard to put
himself in a position and yeah, ultimately this was the outcome.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
So the question now becomes this, what do they do?
Some people have said, well, you know, now Aaron Rodgers
is in play. I highly doubt that from my understanding,
it's going to be Steelers or nobody, most likely going
to be the Steelers, even though they're saying, well, we're
not really sure, we're not you know, we don't really
know whether or not we've Like, from my understanding, it's
(43:43):
going to be it's gonna be the Steelers. But what
else you got, Well, Kirk cuts? Okay, are the Falcons
trading Kirk cousins within the division? And if they do,
isn't that a telltale sign that they're not really worried
about it? Like, if you're New Orleans, let's just call
it what it is. They've been treading water for years.
(44:09):
I mean, there's a reason why they were so upset
about that blown call in the twenty eighteen NFC title game, Like,
there's a reason why that one still resonates. Yeah, it
was a terrible call, but I think there was also
probably a feeling there that like that was pretty much
(44:33):
the end of the legitimate run to a super Bowl.
That was their opportunity. It's the same thing that happened
in Seattle with the Seahawks. There's a reason why they
were so upset about that decision to throw the ball
at the goal line and on handed to Marshawn Lynch.
You can look at it just as an isolated well,
we didn't won a super Bowl. They won the Super
(44:54):
Bowl previously, but I think they realized, man, your opportunities
are rare with this team. When people start getting paid
and start making business decisions for themselves based on where
we are, those windows close fast. That was our chance
to get our last Super Bowl, get an opportunity to
put ourselves in NFL history, win back to back. That
(45:17):
was our chance, and we blew it. We lost. I
think ever since then, the Saints have been kind of
treading water, trying to redo it, trying to and listen,
Drew Brees was banged up towards the end of his run.
He wasn't the same player. They've been scrambling to try
and figure out the quarterback position. They bring in Derek Carr.
(45:38):
I thought it made sense. I thought it made a
bunch of sense, and then all of a sudden you
start to watch him and go, yeah, it just didn't
add up. Alvin Kamara is still there. You had Michael
Thomas at one point. It's like there were You look
at it and you go, okay, maybe there's something here,
and then you find out, well, you know, salary cap,
(46:00):
they're not in a great place. That's a very winnable
division and they're not winning it. So I look at it,
and I go, if that's the case, at some point,
you got to just tear the band aid off. So
instead of looking at all these other veteran quarterbacks, I've
seen Jameis Winston thrown out there. Man, just turn the
keys over to Tyler Shuck and just see what happens.
(46:23):
Maybe he develops into something special and you got a guy,
or maybe he doesn't. And maybe if arch Manning is
the number one pick in the draft next year and
you've got that pick, there's some you know, hometown ties
his grandfather played there, Like there's possibilities here. But it
(46:44):
feels like this decision maybe helps the Saints make a
decision they probably should have made a couple of years ago,
which is tear the band aid off, start this thing
over and try and rebuild back to what you once
were at the Jonas Knox on X. At the Jonas
Knocks on X and you can hang out with us
as always on the iHeartRadio app. You can also get
(47:06):
us on Instagram as well too at Jonas Knox Show,
and I'll post some of the insulting tweets and comments
from throughout the show. I'll be honest with you. A
couple of them. I'm not going to repost, you know,
definitely not. They might involve some fellow co workers, and
they might be a little bit too much even for
social media, even for the landmine filled existence that is
(47:29):
social media. So we will repost at Jonas Knox Show
as many of those as we can at some point
throughout the course of the day. I did want to
mention this though, because if there is one team who
went from deserving a winner, or let me rephrase that,
(47:52):
I don't want to call it the team. I want
to call it the fan base. If there was one
fan base who went from deserve a winner to deserve
heartbreak in the matter of two games, it's the New
York Knicks. You want to talk about obnoxious Celtic fans
(48:17):
are bad. Listen, Boston fans in general. I got you.
The Knicks won two games, and Knicks fans have popped
up all over the country all of a sudden, everybody's
a Knicks fan. They've won two games and a best
of seven, and they have popped up out of any
(48:39):
manhole cover you could find and be like, oh hey, hey,
go Nicks. They've been the doormat in that matchup for decades.
They won the two games, and they deserve to win
the two games. You can't not like Jalen Brunson. You
(49:02):
can't dislike mckel Bridges, who's the anti NBA player because
he never misses a game, literally, never missed a game
in his career. Now, did he play six seconds of
a game in the regular season to keep the streak going? Yeah? Whatever,
But you know what he's earned. It doesn't miss games.
Tom Thibodeaux all about defense. They grind and they're grinding
out these games. And the Celtics style of basketball when
(49:22):
they're not making shots is brutal, like there's no second pitch.
All of a sudden, everybody's sitting in their fastball and
they're like, hey, you got a slider in there? Nope,
all I got. Okay, have a seat. So the Knicks
deserve to win these games. The Celtics have melted down
because they're either at stubbornness, whatever you want to call it.
(49:45):
The Knicks deserve to win these games, so congratulations, they
deserve it. That fan base does not. They're obnoxious two games,
literally two games. So I've gone from what's it gonna
look like if Jason Tatum misses his first couple of
shots at Madison Square Garden coming up in about a
(50:07):
half hour. I've gone from that to what's it going
to look like if the Knicks lose that game later
today again tipping off in about a half hour, because
I'm telling you right now, and if there's a Knicks
fan that's listening to this and wants to put down
(50:27):
the Bravado and the machiesem and all the cockiness that
comes along with it, there's not a Knicks fan alive
who can sit there and tell me if they lose
Game three that they're confident they're still going to win
game four. It's while Charles Barkley was making the point
(50:47):
and Shaquillea and Neil were making the point on TNT
a couple of nights ago, like, you better win game three,
even if you're up too oh and you've won both
games on the road, you better win game three because
if you lose Game three all of a sudden, there's
real doubt. Ask Pacers fans if they exist, how are
(51:08):
you feeling today? You're up to to one and you
got a home game coming up. Not great, and Cleveland's
banged up not great. Changes the whole dynamic. There's a
reason why the Celtics are still favored to win the series,
and they've spotted them two games. But the way the
celebrations have gone from Knicks fans over the past few days,
(51:32):
based on two games out of a seven game series,
has made me completely rethink what I want to watch
in this game. I was looking for, man, if the
shots don't follow, the Celtics gonna melt down again. I
was looking for that, and instead I'm like, Yeah, but
(51:53):
what's that place going to be like if the Knicks lose,
or what's that place gonna be like if they're getting
blown out and the Celtics go wire to wire and dominate,
then all of a sudden, the moodle change the team,
the franchise. They deserve it because of the way they
play that fan base they do not because of the
(52:13):
way they cheer. Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio at the
Jonas Knox on X again at Jonas Knox Show on
Instagram and you can hang out with us as always
on the iHeartRadio app coming up next. Though, there is
a situation in the NFL that's perfect. It's not good
for you, but it's perfect. I'll tell you what it
is right here on FSR, the official odd Couple side
(52:35):
piece Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Coming up a little
over ten minutes from now, there is something interesting to
pay attention for. I kind of speculated, kind of threw
it out there that maybe this is why this was
done in the world of sports, and I think I
(52:56):
might be onto something. But it is something to watch,
something to look for or coming up later on. We'll
get into that for you a little over ten minutes
from now. By the way, also a lot of positive
feedback here on the show. People really liking what we're
doing here on this Saturday afternoon. Guy writes in on
Twitter or X if you will, your takes are subpar
(53:19):
and low tier. They should replace your ass. Another guy
writes in JC, Hey, jackass, no bleep. Don't you need
a bleep to bleep? You sure do? Bleep us over
(53:41):
every time we want to hear FSR and your bleep
bleep ass is on the air, Jonas, can I solve
the bleep word? I can't even read the rest of it?
Oh my god, Pauli writes in Big Balls also happens
(54:06):
to be Jonas's top request. On Grinder, Nate writes in
Isaac isn't the first person to tell you it wasn't
long enough. Mattie writes in I truly would prefer havana
(54:28):
syndrome over having to listen to you. I made the
mistake of leaving my radio on too long after LeVar.
Gotta get to at least eight to nine inches. That's
gonna be good. I mean, that would explain why you
had the radio one at the Jonas Knocks on X
(54:49):
at the Jonas Knocks On X. And we'll figure out
if we can repost any of those at Jonas Knox
Show on Instagram as well too. You know, it's just
like when you start to incorporate co workers, it starts
to I don't want to drag anybody else into our mud.
You know, lex Listen, there's certain you know, the waters
(55:12):
we try and swim here, they're treacherous, and I don't
think many of my co workers have the diving gear
to deal with it. So we'll let them keep their snorkels.
We'll wear them. We'll have to deal with all the
stuff that we deal with, and we will repost whatever
we can that does not alienate relationships with certain members
(55:36):
of the Fox Sports Radio family, give me the money shot.
So George Pickens is on his way to the Dallas
Cowboys for this upcoming season. He will be there. He
is now a member of the Cowboys. It is done,
deal is done. Trade happened, happened earlier this week. And
(55:57):
you look at that and you go a Dallas needed
another impact player. The Steelers move on. Omar Khn, the
general manager of the Pittsburgh Steelers, he spoke about their
decision to part with George Pickens. Let's take a listen.
Speaker 6 (56:14):
No, we just kind of talked about it, you know,
lots of serious conversation on his conversations, and he just
felt that a fresh start for both sides was the
right thing.
Speaker 1 (56:25):
Yeah, which is code for not into it anymore, just
not into it. Apparently he's been fined like over last year.
Who's fined over two hundred thousand dollars or something like
that from not only the Steelers but the NBA. It
shit like, and then you start to hear all these stories.
He was late, he was late for the Christmas Day game.
(56:48):
There was another story that came out that a couple
of years ago he showed up ten minutes before a
game and he was eating Twizzlers and blamed it on
the traffic, and then that some people refuted that report
that now he didn't show up ten minutes before the game.
He was there and warm ups forty five minutes before.
It's It's like there's just a lot going on there.
(57:10):
And the Steelers are pretty good at this. The Steelers
are good at identifying when it's run its course, especially
when it comes to the wide receiver position. You can
go through the course of the Steelers run over the
past several years, and Pittsburgh has this thing pretty figured out.
(57:32):
Like they're pretty good, whether it's Antonio Brown, whether it's
Mike Wallace, Chase Claypool, Deontay Johnson, Like you could just
go through the list of names, like the only guy
that you would look at and go yeah, but he
blossomed after he left there is probably Plexico Burs when
he went to the Giants and won a Super Bowl.
(57:55):
Other than that, Pittsburgh's been pretty spot on about when
to move on from a receiver. So you see that,
you go the fact that they're moving on from George Pickens,
that tells you everything you need to know. Well true,
but it also does give us the perfect matchup the
(58:15):
perfect pairing because there is nobody better suited to be
a Dallas Cowboy than George Pickens. Nobody, because you know
it's gonna go horribly wrong. Like it is not good
for anybody, but it's perfect for us. And there's some
(58:39):
pairings that aren't good for you, but they're great. And
there's a big difference. Look, drinking beer not great for you,
which just not it's not healthy, Like there's better options healthy,
(59:02):
Buffalo wings not healthy. It's a lot in there, sodium,
you know, all the other stuff that comes along with it. There,
there's a lot of stuff in there not but those
two things together perfect phenomenal. Like there's certain stuff you
just put together. It's not great for you, but it's
(59:24):
really great. George Pickens and the Dallas Cowboys is not great.
It's not great for anybody involved, but it's great for us.
And it's a perfect fit for that because there's one
team that welcomes that sort of blow up and can
deal with that sort of coverage, and it's the Dallas Cowboys.
(59:46):
Because you've got a guy who will let it be
known if he's not happier, he's not getting the ball
going to a place where they've clearly identified based on
the contract and based on the production that the number
one wide receiver of CD LAMB. He's number one, it's unquestioned.
Jake Ferguson he's there as well too, Like, you've got options.
(01:00:11):
Do you really believe that George Pickens is gonna play
nice for an entire season knowing he's not the number
one and might not even be the number two? You
think that's gonna happen. No, but because of the pairing,
it's gonna be great, great entertainment. It'll probably started training
camp in Oxnard. Some people call Knoxnard. Again, I don't
(01:00:33):
want to get into that. That's a whole nother conversation.
It'll start a training camp, it'll go into the season.
On top of that, you've got a guy who wants
a new deal. His agent is the agent that Jerry
Jones said he didn't even know who he was. He's
also representing Micaeh Parsons. Like, you've got all of this
attached to it, and it's like, look, we know that
(01:00:53):
their situation's not great. We know that his situation's not great.
It's the same with the beer in the wings, beer
for you not great. Not great, but you put those
things together. It's not great, but it's damn good. That's
what we're getting with George Pickens and the Dallas Cowboys.
This is going to deliver. It's not going to deliver
in a bunch of wins, production on the field or
(01:01:14):
anything like that. They'll have moments, but that is a
place where he's going to go and there's going to
be constant conversation. Like the Steelers do a pretty good
job of keeping everything buttoned up. Like you didn't know
about Antonio brown stuff and all the other things that
went on behind the scenes until after the fact. They
do a really good job at that. Like the Russell
(01:01:36):
Wilson stuff. I mean, does anybody find it a little odd?
He wanted to stay, he didn't want to leave. They
wanted nothing to do with him. Nothing. Hey, what happened there?
Still haven't heard anything. Yeah, I just didn't get along
with Arthur Smith. They basically chose their offensive coordinate over
the quarterback that's won a Super Bowl that wanted to
be back. And by the way, if you look at
(01:01:57):
their seasons, you can argue had a better year than
Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers were like now we're good.
Thank you. Still don't really know why, so what exactly?
I just didn't get along with Arthur Smith. Okay, we've
heard that before. What happened? Eh? So George Pickens has
(01:02:18):
gone from that to Dallas where they are Oh yeah,
oh you want us to talk about stuff, no problem.
Jerry Jones is two hits a week on local radio.
Stephen Jones is another hit, like sixty percent of the
weekday lineup there in Dallas. Their their front office is
part of on a five day a week show. Not
(01:02:41):
to mention all the coverage you get locally there and
all the coverage you get nationally, like this is a
Both these things are terrible for you, but together it's
gonna be awesome. And George Pickens and the Cowboys are
going to deliver the goods all season long at the
Jonas Knocks on X at the Jonas Knocks and X
and you can hang out with us as always on
(01:03:02):
the iHeartRadio app. By the way, you can get us
on Instagram at Jonas Knox Show. That's at Jonas Knox Show.
Up next though, we are going to tell you about
something to look for, something to look for in the
world of sports. Because I believe there was a shrewd
move made by one player. We'll get into that for
you here on FSR for all the latest, though, we
(01:03:24):
turn it over to the man himself, the one and only,
the prestigious, the magnificent. Let me see what else I
got here? Take your time? Take your time? Am I onorious?
Ye know, and tremendously successful? Who me magnificent? Isaac Longcron.
Speaker 4 (01:03:52):
You know, I really ought to stop faxing you that
list of adjectives and kind of join the what is.
Speaker 1 (01:03:59):
This twentieth twenty five? First century?
Speaker 4 (01:04:00):
We really joined the twenty first century and maybe create
an app that'll make that easier for you. With these
lovely introductions, I'll get my staff cracking on that and
get back to you.
Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
Is that all right? Remember the good old days and
you could hear that, you could hear the host the
facts set through so great.
Speaker 4 (01:04:21):
The glorious days of radio.
Speaker 1 (01:04:23):
I'm looking for a padres Han. We go to the
facts in Brawley.
Speaker 4 (01:04:33):
Hemmets, by the way, speaking of southern California environs. If
you will, what's this Knoxnard business? I don't know the
background on that.
Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
I'll listen, man, look tyshirt knows, Tyshert knows, well, he'll
know soon enough. Oh, I know, all right, Well, why
don't look if you I mean, I can use a reminder,
like they call ty Shirt and I. Now that we've
we've decided to travel a little bit looking for love,
they call uh, they call tay Shirt and I the
(01:05:08):
havignett a wueros.
Speaker 4 (01:05:12):
I'll load that into Google Translate as we speak.
Speaker 1 (01:05:14):
I don't know if you're you're familiar with that as
welleter Uh they listen. So so some people like, uh,
you know an Oxnard. You ask some of our friends
who are also listening on the iHeartRadio app and Tijuana
see some of our friends in Oxnar. They call knox Snard. Now, okay,
but you know is what it is. I suppose that's
(01:05:36):
why they're calling it Tisianjuana. Now it's pretty great.
Speaker 4 (01:05:40):
I anticipate this might be more specific in a podcast
only segment. I was just curious because you know, we
already have Knoxville in Tennessee, so we're just balancing it
out on both sides of the country.
Speaker 1 (01:05:52):
So that Knoxnard in Tysianwana.
Speaker 4 (01:05:54):
Wow, man, I think they could be future expansion sites
for professional sports team.
Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
So I just remember you're the only ten I see.
Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
I'll put up I'll put up the blinds in this
anchor studio because of that.
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
By the way, why don't we have blinds around here? Anyway?
Speaker 4 (01:06:12):
Onto the news of the day, and our top story
comes from the NFL. Is Four time Pro Bowl quarterback
Derek Carr that Orland Saints announced his retirement today after
eleven seasons due to a torn labrim as well as
significant degenerative changes to his rotator cuff. Saints quarterback room
now consisting of Spencer Rattler, Jake Hayner, and rookie Tyler Schuck.
Today's NBA playoff action moments away from tipping off at
(01:06:34):
Madison Square Garden Game three between the Knicks and Celtics,
with the next leading the series two games to none.
Tonight at eight thirty Eastern, it's Game three from San
Francisco as the Golden State Warriors play host to the
Minnesota Timberwolves, with that series tied at one within apiece. Saturday,
Stanley Cup playoff action faces off at six pm Eastern
from Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals, tied at one, then
(01:06:57):
at nine Eastern, Game three from Edmund and the Oilers
holding a two games to non lead over the Vegas
Golden Knights, and earlier today the Oilers announced that Stuart
Skinner will get the start in gold because of an
undisclosed injury to Calvin Pickard. Back to the namesake of
knox Nard and Knoxville, Jonas Grassius.
Speaker 1 (01:07:20):
Coming up about twelve minutes from now here, we are
going to have another edition of the scraps here that'll
be yours on Fox Sports Radio. Jonas Knox with you
here on FSR. So, I would like to call my
shot on something here. I believe that Draymond Green will
not get a technical foul in this upcoming game. Yeah,
(01:07:41):
I'm gonna call my shot. I don't know if that's
a bet you can make on DraftKings, I'll look into that,
but I'm gonna call my shot if there's an over
under a number of technical fouls called for Draymond Green.
In fact, it would not surprise me if he was
not called for a personal foul because I think he
went so hard in the paint with the angry black
Man quote that went viral the other night that I
(01:08:04):
don't think the NBA wants to even go down that
road because first of all, and then like people are pointing,
well what about you know some of the stuff that
was yelled at him from fans, all right, that has
nothing to do with him clubbing Knas Reed or stepping
on players faces or choking Rudy Gobert and putting him
in a rear naked choke earlier in the seat like
that has nothing to do with it. So stop, Let's
just stop. Let's stop. Like that's a whole separate conversation.
(01:08:29):
But Draymond Green has a reputation, He's earned a reputation.
It's intentional. He's flailing his arms like I find it.
There's wind puppets out in front of car dealerships who
have more control over their limbs than Draymond Green does.
It doesn't make sense. So he knows what he's doing.
(01:08:50):
And I think he also knows what he's doing when
he takes this approach, because if he gets two more,
he's going to be suspended. I think he knows. Look,
we don't have Steph. We didn't have him game two,
we don't have him in game three, probably not for
Game four. They need me. So if I'm getting close
(01:09:13):
to also missing a game, and if I'm out as
well too, we've definitely got no shot. Then let me
go ahead and get really aggressive on this. If I've
got to pull a card from the bottom of the deck,
that's what I got to do. But I think he's
doing that to raise awareness so that maybe NBA officials
(01:09:33):
are a little bit whistleshy because they don't want to
get called out again or accused again of something like that.
That's what I think happened. I think it was strategic.
I think he knew exactly what he was doing, much
like he knew exactly what he was doing when he
hit nas Red in the face and stepped on other
players and kick people in the nuts and all the
(01:09:54):
other things that he's done throughout the course of his career.
I think he knews exactly what he was doing, and
because of that, I think they're going to be more
leaning with him. They don't want to get called out again.
If there's a league that's really overly concerned with stuff
like that, it's the NBA. And I think Draymond Green
made a play and he did it intentionally. Jonas Knox
(01:10:17):
Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox on X at
the Jonas Knox on X and he can hang out
with us again as always on the iHeartRadio app coming
up next. So we're going to close up shop on
this Saturday afternoon with another edition of the Scraps Things
in the world of sports and beyond we have not
had a chance to get to and they're yours here
at FSR. Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up top
(01:10:38):
of next hour, about fifteen minutes from now, it'll be
Alex Curry and Carmen Vitally. They'll take over these airwaves.
Make sure you stick around. They'll have the very latest
on the Nicks Celtics Game three from MSG, which is
just underway, a three from Karl Anthony Towns and the
Knicks have cut the lead do seven to six there
early in the first quarter, so the Celtics looking to
(01:11:01):
get into the series. Jalen Brown with the three. So
Boston has an early lead just a few minutes into
that game. But MSG is jumping, It is jumping, and
what I said earlier, I'm telling you if they lose
this game, the mood is going to change for Knicks
fans because they are waiting for something bad to happen.
They are just wait. They can give you the fake
(01:11:22):
confidence and fake optimism all they want, and the celebrations
and the parades. Because they've won two games, they're waiting
for something bad to happen. So Alexander Carmen, I'll have
you covered on all that throughout the course of the game.
Coming up here about fifteen minutes from now here on FSR.
A reminder, shortly after the show, the podcast will be
going up, so if you've missed any of it, be
(01:11:44):
sure to check out the podcast search Fox Sports Radio
wherever you get your podcasts. Be sure to also follow,
rate and review the pod. Again, just search Fox Sports
Radio wherever you get your podcast you'll see this show
posted right after we get off the air. I'll also
tweet out they link to it as well too at
the Jonas Knocks and again you can follow us on
our Instagram page at Jonas Knox Show. But right now
(01:12:06):
it's time to close up shop with a little something
we do each and every week called this.
Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
Jonas, How could you not get to? These stories.
Speaker 1 (01:12:17):
Are the scraps And for that again we turn it
over to our executive producer, Patrick Sweeka, who is kind
enough to come in and step in for Bo Benson,
who pissed hot a positive ped test for Bo Benson.
But Patrick is here to take the reins. Here on
another edition of the Scraps, Patty, what do we got?
Speaker 5 (01:12:35):
Well, I'm maybe Andy Furman's telling me something with sending
me a Wizardator, So who knows anymore?
Speaker 1 (01:12:40):
But you can't believe it. By the way, if you're
just tuning in, Patrick revealed that Andy Furman, yes, the
same Andy Fourman that gave out a terrible pick in
the Kentucky Derby last week, on this show, he sent
Patrick a Wizenator. All Right, if you're not familiar with
the Wizarinator, look it up and try and figure out,
(01:13:01):
as we are, why Andy Furman thought it was necessary
to send his producer a Wizonator.
Speaker 5 (01:13:08):
Yeah, and you don't still be fuddled by it. But uh,
next up here, ge we got here's one for you.
It's a bit of a two for one. Is Shadure Sanders,
so what was what's going on with him? He has
no plans to try to buy the number two jersey
from DeAndre Carter, who may or may not even make
the team for the Browns.
Speaker 1 (01:13:27):
That that's one for you. He's gonna hold on to
number twelve. I mean, look like, why would you buy
You're not even sure if you're gonna make the So
why would you buy the jersey? That's just a bad investment.
But that's I mean, that's a that's a terrible So
why he like, there's no guarantee he's gonna make the roster.
(01:13:48):
He's a fifth round pick, so why would he pay
whatever the price is gonna be to get the number two?
And and look, I think Shadoor Sanders is probably recognized
and probably learned from the process. There's a narrative about me.
There's a reputation that I have, and I just want
to come in and I want to play like I
don't I And he said it afterwards, and I'll give
him credit because he said it in real time after
he got drafted. I want to show my respect to
(01:14:10):
the veterans and I want to I want to come
in and I want to work hard and just and
just prove to everybody. And that's it. And the first
way you do that is you go listen, I'll take
the number twelve, and I got do this for you.
If he ends up playing it and he does really well,
then next thing. You know, he gets there next year,
if Carter's not there and he wants to buy his jersey,
buy it then, but go like just less less noise,
(01:14:33):
less bs on the side, less of a circus, just
going there and play. What else we got back?
Speaker 5 (01:14:38):
Well, I said, too for because we're not going very
far from this. We are going away from Shador, but
we're not going away from the Browns on this one.
So with this, so apparently running back Nick Chubb, you know,
the star running back who got hurt unfortunately last year
or two. They're saying he's not expected to return to
the Browns and he may not. They may just cut
him out right.
Speaker 1 (01:14:58):
Jonas, Yeah, there's been some speculation that maybe the Bears
might make a play for Nick Chubb. And look, I
said that the Bears were looking to take a running
back higher in the draft. I think they would have
taken Treveon Henderson, but New England took him one pick before.
So there's been some thought that, well, they've got DeAndre Swift,
they've got speed, they've got athleticism, Maybe they go Nick
(01:15:19):
Chubb if they needed a bruising back. But then there's
also been some ties with JK Dobbins, but Nick Chubb
will get an opportunity. But yeah, listen, he's had multiple
knee injuries. The one against Pittsburgh was just brutal. And
yet you watch the guy work out. He's doing, you know,
box squats, he's doing like he's doing lunch, like all
these moves that try and show everybody he's ready to go.
(01:15:40):
But it feels like Cleveland's ready to move on. What
else we got?
Speaker 5 (01:15:43):
All right, well, we are now going to the New
York Giant side of it. And now this one might
sound a little familiar but slightly different, So stop the
press on this one, Jonas. But Abdul Carter, my goodness,
he has finally picked a jersey. My goodness, he's picked
a jersey, and.
Speaker 1 (01:15:58):
No, I have won, baby.
Speaker 5 (01:16:00):
Oh, we're all fifty one for Abdul Carter, not fifty six,
not eleven fifty one combination.
Speaker 1 (01:16:05):
I guess I'd like to defend abduall Carter from this standpoint.
So he reaches out to Lawrence Taylor and he says, hey,
would you mind if I were your number? He said, no, man,
go make your own number. Famous people got a hold
of that story and buried him for it. All he
did was ask, like, that's it. He asked, hey, would
(01:16:25):
you well, how could he? How dare you ask it? Dude?
Maybe Lawrence Taylor says, yeah, that's fine, man, I would
be honored. Like he reached out to Phil Simms, he
wanted to wear eleven. Apparently phil Simms was okay with it,
but his family wasn't. There's nothing wrong with asking, But
for some reason people think it's disrespect Like that's completely dude.
He didn't walk up to Lawrence Taylor's spit in his face,
(01:16:47):
neam in the nuts and say I'm taking your jersey.
He asked, and Lawrence Taylor said no, there's nothing wrong
with that, And for whatever reason it turned into this
big spectacle. People called it dishres spectful. He doesn't know
the history of the league. No, he does know the
history of the league. That's why he reached out to
ask those guys. So now he's fifty one, I'll be listen.
(01:17:09):
Not not the greatest number in the world, but you
know what, Dick Buckus wore it, so there is that.
So he's got that to look forward to. But the
blowback he got for it is just people trying to
find stuff to talk about because they've got Aaron Rodgers fatigue.
That's it.
Speaker 5 (01:17:23):
Next, all right, this one I kind of want to
use for our our do you care? And this one's
the papa sweetest special here, So he said, he sent
me this one. Do you uh? There was a Norwegian
fruit distributor and they found something in their banana boxes, Jonas.
What did they find? Well, I'll tell you right now.
It was cocaine, cokaina they found, you.
Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
Know, like I now, did they did they actually? Was
it like were they trying to was it put inside
appeal or inside an actual banana or was it just
a bundle of cocaine that was found in a banana box?
Speaker 5 (01:18:00):
It was actually a bundle of cocaine, just one box randomly.
Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
All right, So one box had just a bundle of cocaine.
Did they know how much cocaine it was? They didn't.
Speaker 5 (01:18:09):
They did not specify the grams. And also but it
was enough, definitely enough.
Speaker 1 (01:18:14):
Because yeah, so then clearly it was stored there intentionally
and then sent so clearly because I'm thinking, you know,
like you walk through a produce aisle, could you imagine,
you know, you're you're at a you know, a Von's
or a Ralphs or a Pigley Wiggly or someplace like that,
and you walk through and you just see like a
ball of booger sugar sitting in the bananas. Like that's
(01:18:35):
you know, that's uncomfortable for you. You got a tissue for me.
So clearly, hey, Rob, leave your dating life out of this, buddy. Okay,
but ok we know the point is, I feel like
there's probably some better places you could hide some blow
all right. That that's my personal opinion. Now, I've never
hidden cocaine. I've never done it. That's not listen, not
(01:18:57):
my thing. I don't want to do hide and go seek.
But I'm just saying, if I've seen elaborate ways you
can hide Easter eggs, if you're throwing coke in a
banana box, you got to go back to the drawing
board and come up with something difference. It's not gonna work,
little gig up
