Speaker 1 (00:00):
I have to have better stop Jonas Knocks. You thought
you knew me. You didn't know a thing about me.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
He's crazier than a else.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Wrapped that guy, Jonas Knocks.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
You heard me.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
They'll bring some darkness. Is lighting up your speakers to
establish an alibi for the day. No Live from the
Fox Sports Radio studios. Here's Jonas Knox.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
YEP.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
So okay, I'll be part of this world.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
You know, there's someone in the world of football that
just lives a wealthy lifestyle. They live rich and it's
really noticeable in comparison to who they hang out with.
We'll get into that for you coming up here in
just a couple of moments from now, Jonas Knox, Fox Radio.
You can listen to us as always on the iHeartRadio app.
You can find us on hundreds of affiliates all across
(01:08):
the country and wherever you are making us a part
of your Saturday morning into the afternoon, we appreciate you
doing so. We will be taking you all the way
up until four pm Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific year.
And of course we have got all across the country
college football action everywhere. Now. The one problem, I would
say about college football. All right, this is a little
(01:29):
bit of an issue, and I know it's everyone wants
to call it week two, but it's actually week three
if you count the first weekend of games. They always
do this, and it's like they load up the first
week of the season or the week one from last week,
the Labor Day weekend extravaganza, and then they serve us, yeah,
(01:51):
good last week. Just you know, everybody settled down. Now
we do have, you know, in our big rivalry matchup
Iowa State and Iowa We've got some personal conversation to
have over that coming up here on the show. But
everybody sort of acknowledges that, all right, maybe they take
a step back. They concede that this is the NFL's
(02:14):
chance now, and we roll out the red carpet, and
we roll out the red carpet to the National Football League.
And so we are two games into the season, all right,
two games into the season, and we have got to
address both of those. So why don't we start with
the most recent, which was last night in Brazil the
(02:38):
Chiefs and the Chargers. And you look at that game,
and I look at that game, and I go, man,
that's a massive win. For the LA Chargers. I mean,
never mind the fact, never mind the fact that the
La Chargers snapped a seven game losing streak to the Chiefs. Okay, now, though,
(03:00):
it's not like they're getting wiped out. These are close games,
almost every single one. All but one of those losses
during that losing streak to Kansas City was a result
that was more than one score. So these are all
close games by and large. They are close to Kansas
City in these games. But they finally got over the hump.
It was justin Herbert who played really really well last night.
(03:22):
He was the best player on the field, made plays, scrambled,
picked up a first down, huge win for the for
the LA Chargers, massive win. And then you look on
the Kansas City side of things and you go, yeah, whatever,
they'll be fine, because that's the difference between the two.
The Chargers had to have that game in Kansas City.
(03:45):
As we know, they've shown you that. Well listen, you know,
even if it doesn't look all that hot, don't worry
about it. They'll be okay. A couple of years ago,
everybody was up at arms about, man, what has happened
to the Kansas City Chiefs. Remember they to the Raiders
on Christmas or something like that. It was like a
Christmas Day game and they lost to the Raiders and
(04:07):
it just looked bad. You got Travis Kelcey arguing on
the sideline. It's like, oh my god, this is going
to impact their chances at home field. You know what,
we've never seen the Chiefs have to go on the
road in the postseason. Oh, don't worry about it. They
ran the table, went to the super Bowl and won.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Last year.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
I was like, man, you know, Mahomes doesn't look the same.
Don't worry about it. Still got to the super Bowl. Now,
the result of the Super Bowl not ideal, But that's
the difference between one franchise that lives rich and the
others that doesn't. And if you've ever hung around rich
people when you don't have a lot of money, it's
kind of a weird thing to be a part of
(04:48):
because they're able to live psychologically a different universe than
you could ever imagine. I can remember being around friends
that were established in their careers. We're talking. They had families,
they had houses, they had multiple cars, they had it all.
(05:13):
I mean established, and I'm still you know, working part time.
I've got two or three jobs. I'm leaving early morning
radio to go, you know, uh, pick up a shift
at a telemarketing place, and then doing security at a
bar on a Friday night like that. Like, by the way,
that wasn't that long ago. And I could just remember,
(05:36):
on the rare occasion that I would have a day off,
we would go out, and for some reason, I was
the only one that was wondering what the specials were.
Everyone else was like, yeah, I'll get this, this, this,
and this, and I was, you know, for some reason,
I really cared about what was on sale. They didn't.
And the Chargers were playing a team last night that
(05:59):
lives rich. You think Kansas City sweating this loss, you
think they care. No, Hey, that's a big deal to you.
What you got last night for the charge that's a
huge deal. Jim Harbaugh's undefeated in week one and as
an NFL coach. But the difference between those two organizations
(06:20):
is that Kansas City can handle and deal with that
loss and everything's going to be fine. The Chargers, an
entire narrative would have been written, can't be Kansas City
still and Justin Herbert can't deliver. That's where we're at
and if you want to take it a step further,
(06:41):
if you want to look further ahead to how people
feel about the Chargers, look at what happened the last
time you saw the Chargers played before last night. Remember
that one. Yeah, it was that playoff game. Remember it
looked like, man, everything's lined up for the Chargers and
they got waxed by the Houston Texans. And the last
(07:03):
time you saw them before that in a playoff game.
Speaking of wax they melted down against the Jaguars. You
can argue that meltdown against the Jaguars got Trevor Lawrence paid.
So my takeaway from last night and coming away from
that game in Brazil, the team that had to have
(07:26):
it got it. The team that didn't need it because
they live rich. Yeah whatever, We'll let you. You know,
you enjoy a happy hour. You look at the specials.
We're good over here. We well, no matter what, we
got deeper pockets at the Jonas Knox on x at
Jonas Knox Show on Instagram and you can hang out
with us is always on the iHeartRadio app. All right,
so let's talk about this though mentioned We're going to
(07:49):
address the two games that have taken place in the NFL.
All right, now for those of you wondering again, I mean, listen,
it's a college football Saturday, okay, but you know, not
the greatest later games in the world. Let's be honest,
So let's talk about the NFL. It's an NFL weekend here.
So did know? The big takeaway from the first game
(08:10):
of the season, the Eagles and the Cowboys was Philly
gets it done and Dallas comes up short. Oh and
by the way, that's secondary to guys spitting on or
at each other to open up the game. Now, there
is some speculation as to what the punishment will be
for Jalen Carter. Jonathan Jones of CBS not ESPN, Sorry
(08:34):
about that. I mean maybe it's someday he will be
who knows, But Jonathan Jones of CBS, he reported that
a suspension could still be on the table. But we're
looking at, you know, a five figure fine for Jalen Carr,
like this is going to be, you know, a big
time fine handed out. But they're still considering a suspension.
(08:57):
Can I make this point, Jalen Carter should not be suspended, Okay,
because Jalen Carter already was. He didn't play a snap
like like anybody out there looking for blood, like any
any Cowboy fan. That's like, oh, it's disrespected. It's typical
(09:19):
Philly behavior. The guy missed the entire game. Okay. I
can understand you don't want to set a precedent. I
get all that, all right, But I can understand that
he missed an entire game. He doesn't need to be suspended.
Like Jonathan Jones reporting earlier today that well, you know,
we're looking at a five figure five Okay, I get it, fine, Fine,
you want to you want to find him whatever it is,
(09:39):
twenty grand, twenty five grand, this that you want to
make a statement, that's okay, fair enough. But the idea
that we need to, on top of that suspend him
a game. So he's basically going to be suspended two
games for spinning on Dak Prescott. Okay, that doesn't make
sense to me. Here's also why I think a suspension
should be off the tape. Despite what Jonathan Jones is
(10:03):
reporting earlier today. Could we just be honest here, Dak
Prescott knew exactly what he was doing. And I like
Dak Prescott a lot. I've defended Dak Prescott multiple times
on this show throughout the history of Dak Prescott's career.
All Right, I've given Dak Prescott credit when most people didn't.
(10:24):
When Dak Prescott finally got paid, I said, thank you.
You deserve it, if not for your performance on the field,
but forgetting us through COVID in talking about his contract negotiations.
And there was nothing else going on because everybody else,
you know, was driving around and ninety five masks standing
six feet apart. I'll wait, never mind, that was earlier
(10:47):
today here out here in southern California. Sorry, some people
are still living in the past out here. But the
point is I've defended Dak Prescott, maybe more than some
people would. I would say I'm in the upper tier
of Dak Prescott. Dak Prescott knew exactly what he was
doing on Thursday night, exactly what he was doing. Watch
it over again, smirks in him, spits on the ground.
(11:09):
He knew exactly what he was doing. So this idea
that there's a suspension still potentially for Jalen Carter and
we're talking about finds. Look, you want to find him
a bunch of money, that's okay, You want to you know,
find him, you know, an excessive amount. Whatever, do what
you gotta do. The idea that you're going to continue
(11:29):
to punish him and make him miss games based on
not only the fact that he already missed an entire game,
but also the fact that watch it over again. Dak
Prescott knew what he was doing. He knew exactly what
he was doing. If you smirk at somebody, look down
at the ground, look back up at him, and spit
on the ground in front of him, what does that mean, like, Hey,
(11:50):
best of luck out there, or is that kind of
a fu to the guy across. He knew exactly what
he was doing to me. You make Jalen Carter cut
a check to the NFL, however they do it, pull
it from his paycheck on the fifteenth and the thirtieth,
whatever they do in the NFL. However they do it,
and then we move on with our lives, and then
(12:12):
we build up the next matchup between these two teams
later on in the season. That's how you should handle this.
At the Jonas Knox on x at Jonas Knox Shaw
on Instagram is where you can find us as we
take you again all the way up until four pm
Eastern time, one o'clock Spacific. So we have got a
jammed pack show coming up throughout the course of the

(13:17):
the evidence. You'll hear it next here on FSR.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Coming up, well call it
a little over ten minutes from now, we are going
to have our first TGFG Game of the Week in
the NFL coming up here on FSR, and we will
explain exactly what that means. For those of you that
(14:25):
are new to the show, we will go ahead and
explain to you exactly what TGFG means and what it
stands for. So stick around for that as we hand
out awards here on a Saturday coming up about ten
minutes from now. So one of the things that you
gotta love about college football and really sports in general,
(14:45):
is that it makes And I don't know if and
this isn't a like women don't do this, But guys,
do you love your friends? You do anything for your friends.
They're like family, they're your brothers, they're it's almost like blood.
(15:08):
But when their team is losing, there's no greater feeling
in the world than letting them know that their team
is losing. There's just really there's nothing better. You will
root for a team you couldn't care less about if
they're playing your best friend, and this could be somebody
you've been through everything with. They could have saved your life.
(15:29):
And as grateful as you are for them and appreciative
and as much as that friendship means to you, the
second their team's losing, you want nothing more than for
that to continue. And I don't know why that is,
as guys, like, if you're a woman listening, just understand
we are sick in the head, Like we are sick
twisted bastards. It's just the way it goes, right. So
(15:51):
I'm saying that because one of my dear friends in radio,
somebody that I care a lot about, somebody that's that
has meant a lot to my career, somebody that's meant
a lot to a lot of people here at Fox
Sports Radio. Is Iowa Sam, Sam Kinsley, you know, dear friend,
And there's nothing I want more than to see Iowa
(16:12):
lose to Iowa State. Like I have to have it.
I'm texting him, I'm insulting him. I have to have
Iowa lose. I just got to have it. And it's
not even just it's not even a He's just so
obnoxious that you have no choice. Everything's Iowa, everything's this,
(16:33):
everything's that, it's Hawk Guy's Kirk Farrence, blah blah blah
blah blah, and it's just, you know, he calls in
last year. I think he's from you know, the Syhawk game.
He calls in last year and he's like, Oh, I'm
going to call in and do a hit. And then
he calls in to do a hit. He's like thirty
beers deep. He doesn't get reception. It was like he
(16:55):
literally killed the entire flow of the show. And so
as much as we love him, we have to see
them lose. So just understand, and you know, we're not
supposed to take sides here, but there are there is
a large majority, and by large majority of people that
know Sam here at Fox Sports Radio, I say large majority,
meaning like one hundred and one percent of people that
(17:17):
work at Fox Sports Radio want to see Iowa State
win this game. They want to see it. Now. Iowa
State does have a lead good for us. Just under
eight minutes to go in the third quarter. Iowa State's
up thirteen to ten on Fox. Hopefully that continues and
hopefully we can all go home happy. And that's one
of the beauties of not only being a guy who
(17:37):
likes sports and having dear friends who like sports, but
also that's one of the beauties of college football, is
these rivalries and just how passionate certain fans are. You know,
for example, fans in the South. This isn't just you know,
a big twelve, big ten thing. Fans in the South
very passionate, very fired up, love college football. I mean,
(18:00):
they're not going to stand for anything less than up
to their standard college football. And so you say all
that to say this that while everybody is racing to
a liquor store near you or a convenience store near
you to buy a powerball ticket, which is up to
(18:22):
like one point seven billion or whatever the number is
at this point, while everybody's racing to buy a powerball
and get in on the action. Susie from Alabama have
some thoughts. She has some thoughts on exactly, you know,
how she would handle being a part of the run
(18:47):
to get Powerball and the winning So take a listen
to Susie Connery from Guntersville, Alabama, courtesy of w HNT
when asked, Hey, so, what what'd you do with the
money if you didn't win power Ball? I tell exactly
what I'd do with the first seventy million.
Speaker 5 (19:05):
I'd pay off Kaitlin de Boor and get him the heck.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
Out of the University of Alabama, and then I'd take
whatever else.
Speaker 5 (19:11):
It took to get rid of the ad.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
You know.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Yeah, anybody's sick in your family. Now, I don't worry
about that. We got priorities here. Okay. My mom told
me when I was when I was younger, and I
still remember this, she said, whatever you do, you have
to pay your bills first. Okay, pay all the stuff
you have to pay first. If there's anything left over,
then you can decide what you do with it, but
you got to pay your bills first. This lady in
(19:41):
Alabama's like, no, no, no, before I get to anything,
before we get to any of that stuff, let me
take the first seventy I will buy I personally will
buy out Caitlin de Moore, and then I'll get rid
of the Ada and then we're good here. And all
that tells you is a couple of things. As we
mentioned that sports fans, in particular, college football fans are
(20:04):
on another level than anybody else. They're on a completely
different level than anybody else. They care at a level
that nobody else does. Even in the NFL Bill's Mafia apologies,
you have nothing on college football fans. And it also
shows you that Calin de Boor has no chance, no chance,
(20:29):
like in a way the book has already been written.
He could go out, look, I think they're like a
thirty five point favorite or something like that against Louisiana Monroe.
He could go out and beat them by five hundred.
Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter fans that have already made up
(20:49):
their mind. You try telling an SEC fan, Hey, just relax,
be patient, go ahead, Hi dare you? I dare you?
Go ahead? Go down now? Trust me, I work there,
I live there to go be my guest. You try
and have a rational conversation with them. It's like a
(21:11):
toddler who's in the middle of a tantrum when you're
trying to explain to him why their thought process is
wrong in this moment. How do you think that's gonna go?
While you're at it, Why don't you go skinny dipping
with a blindfold on in a wood chipper and see
how that goes. Go ahead, please be my guest. Cale
(21:34):
de Boor has no shot, no shot because they've already
made up their mind. And by the way, he probably
didn't have a shot when he took the job. And
this is not a knock on Kaitlyn de Boor, who's
done a great job when he was, you know, working
in Indiana, when he got to Washington, and what he
(21:55):
did with Michael Pennix, this is like, there's like, not
not a knock on Kaitlyn to Boor at all. But
he was a head coach for I think four years
before he took the gig. Oh and by the way,
he took the gig over from a guy who's the
greatest to ever do it. Good luck, good luck, because
(22:18):
once you take that baton, people are still remembering the
hand that was on it before like you're not running
this race. No, no, no, you are running a race
against that guy that you took the job over for.
He's gotten no chance because anything less than that is
(22:40):
going to look like, well, you know, not quite. So
this idea that well, look, you know, be patient, and
it was, you know, just one game against Florida State.
It's like, okay, or, or we could look at the numbers.
Calin de Boor has lost four games to unranked opponents
(23:04):
since he's been at Alabama in a little over a year.
Nick Saban lost four games to unranked opponents his entire
time in Alabama seventeen years. Okay, there's like, you know,
there's just stuff there that would lead you to believe
(23:24):
that he's in a little bit of a difficult spot.
And whether it's Susie from Alabama or Troy from Tuscaloosa,
any bit from Guntersville, like pick a spot in Alabama.
Anybody that's rooting for the Crimson Tide is looking around
(23:44):
going when are we making a switch? And it may
not be Calen de Boor's fault, it's just the way
things operate there. When you take over for the best

it's coming up next here. It is our first installment
(24:27):
of the TGFG Game of the Week. That'll be yours
here on FSR. But for all the latest from around
the world, sports ladies and gentlemen, make some noise and
celebrate a man who deserves to be celebrated. Now he's
the one, he's the only He's a magnificent sir, Isaacall.
Speaker 6 (24:44):
And honestly, the difference between me and everyone else, including
frankly you, Jonas, is that I go even deeper because
while you cover the bare bones the story involving Alabama
fan Susie Connery, I am able to dig deeper. Susie
(25:08):
Connery has doubled down on her vow that if she
wins the Powerball jackpot, she will use the funds to
get rid of Caitlin de Boer as well as the
Alabama Athletic Director, and then after that she'd give money
to her church, doubling down commenting on social media a
(25:29):
short time ago, and I mean it with a prayer emoji.
Susie Connery also a fearsome family, including such loved ones
as Tank and Little mac Daddy. So again, Susie connerly
doubling down on her vow if she wins the power
(25:52):
Ball and frankly, I'm rooting for her.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
How about you? I mean, you know, uh listen, I
don't want to. I don't like the calling for anybody's
but I did think it was appropriate.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
And this tells you. I mean, this is the South,
through and through. This is SEC football fans, through and
through calling for somebody's job and then including a prayer
emoji afterwards. I do think that should be pointed because
I can remember I remember working in when I was
in Charleston in South Carolina. I just remember it was
(26:25):
very interesting to see everybody gets dressed up in their
Sunday's best to go to church and I mean really
really nice outfits, and then they literally lead straight from church.
They do communion, they get their prayers, their blessing, and
they go straight to bottomless mimosas like it just like right,
just rolls right into it.
Speaker 6 (26:41):
And the day before it was college football and tailgating
and calling.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
For the coach to be fired, and every every uncomfortable
and every offensive reference to the South Carolina mascot, the
game Cocks, you know, like, I mean, everything you could
possibly think of Detroy, every innu window, and then you
sleep it off. You show up to Mass the next
(27:06):
day in your best outfit, and you leave straight from
Mass and you go to brunch and get annihilated. It's
just this, I mean, Susie, you represent an entire part
of the country.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
So you call it excessive. I call it a well
rounded life. Yeah. Faith, family, and football.
Speaker 1 (27:23):
Yeah. They got power to all sides, literally power as
in powerball. Damn right.
Speaker 6 (27:29):
Meanwhile, number two Penn State up twenty to nothing over
Florida International. They're three minutes through the fourth quarter seventh
thranc Texas leading San Jose State thirty one to seven
six point fifty two left in the third quarter, arch
manning thirteen to twenty one for one ninety six to
four touchdown passes, one interception. Eleventh ranth Illinois a twenty
one to thirteen lead at Duke midway through the third quarter.
(27:51):
Fourteenth ranked Florida State just slightly ahead of East Texas
A and M after three quarters seventy to nothing. Jonas
I'm going to run down the stats on the Florida
State quarterback play today. Starter Tommy Castellano seven of ten
two hundred thirty yards, three touchdown passes, covering forty two yards,
(28:12):
fifty three yards, and eighty two yards. So they took
him out because he'd already had a full day even
before halftime. The number two quarterback Kevin Sperry comes in.
He completes four out of five for sixty one yards
with two more touchdown passes, so they bring in the
third string guy, brought Glenn. He throws a thirty five
yard touchdown pass on his first attempt and as of
(28:35):
now he's three out of three for fifty six yards.
Number sixteen Iowa State. Yeah, Number sixteen Iowa State and
Iowa tied to thirteen three minutes left to play in
the third quarter. Number nineteen Texas A and M leading
Utah State thirty to six at halftime. Fourth rank Georgia
just underway no score with Austin p just over three
(28:55):
minutes in. And finally, Jonas, we have an NFL travel update.
You were talking about the Los Angeles Chargers Kansas City
Chiefs game. The Chargers landed at lax approximately an hour
and fifteen minutes ago after an eleven hour flight from
South Paulo. And I bring this up because at approximately
(29:18):
six a m. Eastern time this morning, as they were
flying over the Bogata, Columbia metropolitan area, the Chargers had
already traveled more miles than the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
Will this entire season back to you?
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Well, look, you know you want to be you want
to grow your fan base. You know there's there's you know,
people walking around in Brazil now with Justin Herbert jerseys
that probably would have had it before. So you're growing
your famba. This is the price you gotta pay. This
is how this works.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
And by the way, you know the worst part of
the Chargers trip to Brazil, I have a nominee. I'll
hear yours.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
Okay, Lax, that's the worst. Oh wow, that place is
a sewer. I've never had a problem at Lax. You,
I've never had a problem at LAX. I am treated
like royalty there. Let me tell you something. I am
Burbank Airport through and airport, and I'm not crazy. Give
me the Bob Hope Airport. Anybody, anybody listening across the country,
(30:26):
if you're flying out here, even if it's going to
cost you a little bit more, fly into Burbank. Goliadx.
Lax is a rat infestive.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
I disagree with that. Not not for me, maybe for you.
Maybe for you. However, the two charms of Burbank that
people out there need to know about Jonas. First of all,
there's no jetway, so.
Speaker 6 (30:48):
You go down the stairs onto the tarmac itself, which
has never done anymore. And also, the baggage claim is outdoors,
so you get the quint essential Southern California experience, the
warmth when you're at the outdoor baggage claimed.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
Oh it's so good. And if you have TSA pre check.
The best part about is you have TSA PreCheck. Say
your flight's at ten am.
Speaker 4 (31:13):
Sorry, there's no no offense. But is this a humble
brag that you have TSA PreCheck.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
It's eighty bucks for five years. Like anybody that doesn't
have TSA PreCheck, I don't know what you're waiting on.
Like it literally costs eighty it's like eighty five dollars
and it covers you for five years. It's just like
it's a no brainer. But if you if you have
TSA PreCheck and you're not checking a bag, you're only
gonna do it if your flight is at ten am.
(31:40):
You could arrive to Burbank Airport at nine to thirty, Yes,
walk straight through and be sitting waiting for your flight
at nine thirty four.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
Yep, it's the best. Yeah, you speak the truth. By
the way.
Speaker 6 (31:55):
One other note, I was gonna say that the world
worst part of the Chargers road trip not for the
Charger but everybody else. Apparently South Paulo literally has the
worst traffic jams in the world. Chargers didn't have to
deal with this because they have like police escorts and stuff.
But the media shuttle covering nineteen miles from the hotel
to the stadium. It took three hours to cover nineteen
(32:18):
miles and there was so much traffic. They actually had
food vendors stopped in the middle of the highway selling
their food on the middle of the highway.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
Could you imagine them doing that on the four or five.
That would be a great idea.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Oh, I mean, well, people, I mean people try, but
it's usually I don't want to say that.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
That's mean speaking of things that we don't want to say.
Check Polly in Indy's latest to tweet to you. I mean,
I don't even know who that is, but I would
say this, you know what.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
That's also another difference between Brazil and out here in
southern California. In Brazil, people's vendors will get off in
the freeway to try and you know, supply food to
people out here and out here in southern California, mountain
Lion and just run across the freeway and get hit. Yeah,
and then we have to close down other parts of
the freeways. We can build, you know, a ramp for
(33:07):
them to walk across, because we're really concerned about the
one mountain lion who got clipped.
Speaker 4 (33:11):
Rest in Peace p. Ninety five or is it P.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
Twenty two? No, it is Pete.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
I don't know. P twenty two.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
Okay, there's P twenty two was the big one and
they had like memorial services when he met his Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
How about P six feet under that's what they should
have called him. Dummy, what a dumb ass?
Speaker 4 (33:30):
Don't check your mention?
Speaker 1 (33:32):
You way down? All right? So there and look at
the time. Look at the time here, And because we
are all about the clock, we don't want to push
this any further, but we will promote ahead here. This
is called radio formatics. We're gonna have another edition of
do U Care? Coming up here next on Fox Sports Radio,
coming up top of next hour, twenty minutes from now,
we will hand out this award. It is the debut
(33:52):
of the TGFG Game of the Week, So that'll be
yours here on FSR. But as we just mentioned, we
have traditions to a pold here even during football season.
Do you Care? As next here on FSR Jonas Knox,
Fox Sports Radio, coming off the top of next hour.
As previously mentioned, we didn't have a chance to get
(34:12):
to it because we were up against it, as they
say in radio, but we will get to our first
edition of the TGFG Game of the Week. That'll be
yours here again a little over twelve minutes from now,
but right now it is time to do something we
do every single week, even during football season. It's time
for this.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
DMS reports. Let's get kinky.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
Here's some of the big stories from the last week.
But Jonas, the real question is do you care?
Speaker 1 (34:49):
And for that we turn it over to our executive
producer Bo Benson.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
And Bo, What's what's funny?
Speaker 1 (34:56):
I just received I just received a I don't kid,
I don't even know how to say this. Yeah, I
just received a text that about what was on the
menu today, if you know what I mean? All right,
I just received from from Iowa Sam. Iowa Sam was
(35:18):
letting me know what was on the menu today?
Speaker 4 (35:20):
How many beers he's got?
Speaker 1 (35:22):
I just what is he is he eating? Like? Uh?
Is he eating Indian food? I don't know if Iowa Sam.
I think as I was Sam having like uh, I
think I think he's enjoying the Iowa Iowa State game
with some you know, some chicken tika masala or whatever
(35:43):
they call it. Like I think he's uh, well, yeah,
when you think of Iowa you think of? Uh, I mean,
it makes makes all the sense in the world, you know,
crop circles and curry. I mean, that's that's what I
think of. All right, So what do we got, John is? Uh?
Speaker 7 (35:57):
The Chicago Sky suspended Angel Reese for a half due
to her comments that were directed towards her teammate and
the organization. Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (36:06):
Oh No, I don't care. Yeah, this it's just this
is the point. It's it's always this. It's never anything else.
It's it's either dil do's on the court, suspensions, pettiness,
like there's just there's always something that has nothing to
do with basketball when it comes to the WNBA. As
far as I'm concerned, I don't even know what it
(36:26):
is anymore.
Speaker 7 (36:27):
Next, arch Manning through for four first half touchdowns against
San Jose State. He also threw an interception. Jonas, do
you care?
Speaker 4 (36:35):
Yeah, I do.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
I'm a I'm an arch Manning guy through and through.
I like to wait until everybody jumps off the bandwagon
before I get on. I'm gonna go arch Manning. I'm
gonna support him at nauseum this entire year. Every time
he throws a touchdown, I'm gonna say it's the greatest
touchdown I've ever seen. And every time he throws an interception,
I'm gonna blame the receiver. This is but listen, don't
(36:56):
don't blame me. I didn't start this right. The people
that were pushing arch Manning down everybody's throats, and and
and the over analyzation of a guy who was coming
into the season with two career starts was a bit
much for me. I'm just reacting to the conversation next.
Speaker 7 (37:13):
NFL fans took to social media last night to express
there a pleasure to express their displeasure with the broadcast
on YouTube, pleading with the league to feature less Mister
beast Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (37:26):
Not really like I just care. Like, look, man, when
you when you bring in YouTube or you bring in Amazon,
or you bring like you're gonna you're gonna have outside
people welcome to like the Taylor Swift stuff, You're gonna
have outside people who want to be a part of it.
The Super Bowl halftime shows, Like, the NFL is a
(37:48):
corporate game.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
It just is.
Speaker 1 (37:50):
We still love it, all right, we still partake, but
it's just it's a corporate game. And You're going to
have people that every time they're trying to grow the sport,
this is gonna have up and more and more, especially
when they branch out to other places that you could
watch it.
Speaker 7 (38:04):
Next, NFL Red Zone will feature ads this season. Do
you care?
Speaker 4 (38:08):
Not really?
Speaker 1 (38:09):
No, I don't care. And by the way, you know,
my favorite part about this is the people that are like, oh,
by god gone or the good old days when the
NFL Red Zone didn't have ads? Oh yeah, what are
you going to do about it? Not watch? Why don't
you just take your licking. The NFL's got you by
the balls and they can do whatever they want with you.
(38:30):
They steer you, you don't steer them. You've got no
say in the matter. There's nowhere else to go. What
do you want to be one of those dweebs who
doesn't watch football? You know who those people are mean
neither because they don't even count.
Speaker 7 (38:44):
Next Bill's quarterback Josh Allen will have his jersey retired
at his alma mater, Wyoming Jonas. Do you care?
Speaker 1 (38:51):
Not really? I mean this is you know cares. Look,
I don't like Josh Josh Allen and Wyoming. You know
that was that that's his alma mater. This is the
way things go now, everybody's getting their jersey retired. I
did think that it was It's interesting that Josh Allen
had to wait to become an MVP to get his
jersey retired. Meanwhile, should Or Sanders hadn't even like finished
(39:13):
playing and already got his retired. I'm just wondering what
took Wyoming so long? Where they did they have? Was
there clear protocol that, hey, listen, unless you win an MVP,
you don't get your jersey retired. This should have been
done a long time ago. It should have happened a
long time ago. They should have been celebrating Josh Allen.
(39:33):
They should name I don't even know if the field's
named after him, but they should probably do that, and
there should be more that come along with it. He's
a hell of a quarterback. He's got a great game
coming up on Sunday night against the Baltimore Ravens. Way
too late in the game for them to do this,
but congratulations to Wyoming for finally getting it done.
Speaker 7 (39:49):
Next this morning, September sixth, twenty twenty five, I saw
my first Christmas commercial. It was a commercial for Walt
Disney World, Jonas, Do you care?
Speaker 1 (39:59):
Yeah, because that's really yeah.
Speaker 7 (40:02):
I thought I was. I thought I was like not
seeing what I was seeing, but no, it was a
Christmas commercial.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
Okay, So a little behind the scenes here, so we do.
So I'm on this show locally here called The Challenge.
It's every football season. It's after Sunday Night football and
KMBC four. The debut is coming up this Sunday night,
and so we had to do a rehearsal earlier in
the week and they are already doing Halloween horn nights.
It's September fourth on that day and we're already doing
(40:32):
Halloween hornights.
Speaker 7 (40:33):
Bushing was just there last night and you're seeing Christmas
commercials now yep, Jesus, Like, what are we doing?
Speaker 1 (40:40):
Like every like, wait your turn? Can we at least
get to the first set of bye weeks in the
NFL before this happens. Enough's enough, wait your turn? Christmas?
You know, we got awards to hand out here on
the show, and we're not waiting until the middle of
the season they do it in the NFL. We're gonna
start right out of the jump. We'll get into that
for you up here. Just a couple of moments from now,
(41:01):
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio you can listen to. This
show is always on the iHeartRadio app. You can find
us on hundreds of affiliates all across the country and
wherever you are making us a part of your Saturday afternoon.
We appreciate you doing so, as we take you all
the way up until the end of this hour four
pm Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific. Got a lot of people,
(41:24):
a lot of positive feedback. For those of you that
missed the first hour, let's quickly review the feedback we
have received through the first sixty minutes of the show.
Jason writes in, Bleeps like Judas Knox are loving the
(41:48):
bleep NFL pandering to d wads like you with your
boy toy Hack, mister Beast taking over the game, and
some random bleep halftime concert. Only thing missing for bleeps
like you was the camera shots of your Taylor Swift
doll game. You bleep suck wow almost almost slip there,
(42:11):
you bleep sucking bleep. Joe writes in, hey, bleep sucking,
soy boy, never mind lax sucking and being a bleephole.
The entire city of La is a bleephole sewer and
that's why you were there. So as to your opinions
about the South SEC college football fans or Southern cultra
(42:35):
bleep you bleephead. So just so you know, we were
off and running. The first sixty minutes have been successful
here on the show. All right, So we're talking about
the the NFL. This is really the NFL's weekend, all right.
(42:56):
You got some some halfway decent college football games going
on right now. You got the Syhawk Bowl between Iowa
and Iowa State. We pointed out earlier everybody here at
Fox Sports Radio. By everybody, I mean like literally every
single living human being at Fox Sports Radio, including the
cockroaches that live in the studio, we're all rooting for
Iowa State. We all want Iowa State to win, just
(43:19):
because we want Iowa Sam, our beloved Iowa Sam here
at the network, to struggle with his emotions and to
drink even more than he already would or already is
right now watching this game. So we all want that
to happen. Also, you know, with the NFL, a couple
of games in before we get to know our TGFG
game of the week. I did go ahead and we
made our picks, our season picks in the NFL this
(43:43):
upcoming year. All right, So we went ahead and did
this early on in the week, a quick breakdown. Do
you have any fast paced Fox NFL music here? As
I throw Chris Burfett something in the air randomly that
just popped into my head that I should have talked
to him about during the break Chris, we have any
rant just a fast paced Fox NFL music? I could
rattle off these season picks as we get ready for
(44:06):
the for the new year in the NFL. Anything. Yeah,
So we've got a we've got a live studio band. Uh.
They were not prepared for this, this studio band. So
they're going to plug in their instruments and let it
rip as soon as they've got it.
Speaker 5 (44:18):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (44:18):
And so we will have that coming up for you
here in just a couple of moments from now. As
we look ahead to the NFL season, some surprises, there
are some surprises. I wanted to go out on a
limb a little bit here, and know this isn't waiting
until two games into the season to make these picks,
all right. This isn't just you know, throwing throwing some
some picks out there in the NFL based on two
(44:40):
results that have already taken place in the National Football League.
So as soon as we have that music, as soon
as they are plugged in, just fire away everybody there
with the Fox NFL theme music band or anything. At
this point, I mean anything would work. Uh So yeah,
there's that. I do everyone know what how that is.
Speaker 4 (45:00):
I'm trying to fast one and we'll stay with us.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
Yeah, We'll go with this one, all right. So here
are your picks for the upcoming season, has heard earlier
this week on Two Pros and a Cup of Joe.
In the AFC East, I've got the Bills finishing first,
followed by the Patriots, the Dolphins, and the Jets. I
look at that as this is similar to when the
(45:25):
Patriots are running rough shot over that division all those years.
Nobody's really that close. I think the Patriots are going
to be much improved. And I look it was really
who who do I trust more finishing last? And I've
seen the Jets do it so often that I'm going
to go with the Jets to finish last in that division.
So that is your AFC East and the AFC North,
(45:46):
one of the more difficult divisions to pick, but I
went with the Cincinnati Bengals to win. It made a
bunch of jokes about the Bengals being cheap skates, because.
Speaker 4 (45:55):
They are and they deserve it.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
So the Cincinnati Bengals are the team that's going to
win the AFC North. According to me, I like the
Baltimore Ravens finishing second, followed by the Steelers and the Browns.
In the AFC South, I like the Houston Texans to
win the division yet again, followed by the Jaguars, the Colts,
and the Titans in the AFC West. Believe it or not,
(46:19):
this is before last night's game. I had the LA
Chargers winning the AFC West. All right, this is not recency.
You can go back and check the tape. These are
all in real time. I made these picks this week
on Fox and on Fox Sports Radio, and I went
ahead and I took the La Chargers to win the division,
followed by the Chiefs. I've got the Broncos third and
(46:40):
the Raiders fourth. My AFC playoff teams are the Bills,
the Bengals, the Texans, and the Chargers winning the division.
And then I've got the wildcard teams of the Ravens,
the Steelers, and the Chiefs. So that is your AFC
side of things. Over in the NFC, we start with
the East. I've got the Eagles winning the division, followed
by the Commanders finishing second. I've got the Dallas Cowboys
(47:03):
third and the New York Giants finishing fourth. By the way,
give Dallas a little bit of credit. They looked better
than I think a lot of people expected. But when
the expectation was they're probably gonna lose by eight and
a half, and they only lose by four, but still lose.
Maybe not exactly what you're looking for if you're a
diehard Cowboys fan. In the NFC North, I've got the
Green Bay Packers winning the division, followed by the Bears second,
(47:27):
the Lions third, and the Vikings fourth. Both Norths were
difficult to pick. I think Minnesota's got a basically a
rookie quarterback starting there. I think Detroit is dealing with
two coordinators and losing two coordinators. I think they take
a step back, but ultimately I think Green Bay's the
best team in that division. In the NFC South, I've
got the Falcons winning the division. I know a little
(47:47):
bit of a surprise. The favorite to win it is
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They're gonna play to open up
the season coming up tomorrow. But I've got Atlanta winning
the NFC South, followed by Tampa Bay, Carolina and the
New Orleans who are awful, just awful in the NFC West.
I felt a lot better about this before the Christian
(48:08):
McCaffrey stuff popped up. Okay, felt a lot better about it.
I got the Niners winning the NFC West, followed by
the Rams, the Cardinals, and the Seahawks. And really the
only reason I chose the Niners in this spot is
because I was concerned about Matthew Stafford's health. Matthew Stafford's
back I think is a problem. I think it's going
(48:29):
to be an issue that pops up sooner rather than
later during the season, and so I couldn't trust going
with the Rams in the NFC West. The Niners have
a much easier schedule based on where they finished last
year if you look at the way the season breaks down.
I like San Francisco to bounce back, but I felt
a lot better about that when I made this pick
before the McCaffrey injury came out. In the NFC. As
(48:49):
far as playoff teams go, I've got the Eagles, Packers, Falcons,
and forty nine Ers obviously winning the division, and your
wild card teams from the NFC, the Commanders, the Buccaneers,
and the Bears getting the last wild card spot there.
So that is your NFC playoff picture. And in Super
Bowl sixty, I've got the Baltimore Ravens beating the Green
(49:12):
Bay Packers. So there is your Super Bowl prediction. Your
season picks, again, those were made before the first games
took place, all Right. I feel great about the Chargers
pick based on last night, but I don't feel so
great about the Niners winning the division when Christian McCaffrey
pops up on the injury report yet again and the
(49:33):
season isn't even here. So do with that what you will.
But there is your Super Bowl pick. I like the
Baltimore Ravens to beat the Green Bay Packers. I mean,
you know, look, if it wasn't going to be, it
was basically gonna come down to this. I was gonna
go Baltimore Cincinnati out of the AFC, and I was
gonna go Green Bay or the La Rams out of
(49:53):
the NFC. I can't go chalk. I just can't. And
here's this ought to tell you everything you need to
know about my picks as far as the Super Bowl go.
During this entire dynasty featuring the Kansas City Chiefs, because
we are in the midst of a dynasty. Despite what
happened in the Super Bowl last year, during this entire
(50:14):
dynasty of the Chiefs, never one time have I picked
them to go to the super Bowl. Like literally, never once,
never once. I just always assume, no, now, this is
the year it's not gonna hack. And during that entire dynasty,
they've made multiple appearances and never one time have I
picked them. So, if you're a Ravens fan, if you're
a Packers fan, take my picks with the grain of salt.
(50:36):
All right, it's probably not going to go that direction,
just based on how things have gone with my picks
over the past several years. So there's that, all right.
Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. By the way,
you can follow along at the Jonas Knox on X
or on Instagram at Jonas Knox Show. I have posted
the insulting tweets that were sent over a short time
ago on Instagram. Follow along there at Jonas Knox Show
(50:58):
on ig It's and these stories feature. Just click on
that and you'll see all the insults that have been
that have been sent through throughout the course of this show.
Right now, though, it is time to pay off a really,
really long tease. It is time for the first installment
of the TGFG Game of the Week, and TGFG means
(51:22):
thank God for gambling. All right, thank God for gambling.
Game of the Week to open up the season here
in twenty twenty five, and the first recipients of the
TGFG Game of the Week go too. Cardinals at Saints.
Oh baby, a one Eastern time kick, because why wouldn't
it be. I got news for you. If the NFL
(51:44):
had its way, that game would have taken place on
Wednesday at four in the morning while we were on
the air here at FSR, Like, this is an awful game.
And listen, it's not a knock.
Speaker 8 (51:54):
On the Arizona Cardinals. Okay, it's not a knock on
the Arizona Cardinals. I actually think the Arizona Cardinals could
be a surprise. Maybe they're a contender with the help
being the issue of the other two teams that I
like atop the NFC West with the Rams and the Niners.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
Maybe the Cardinals make a run. This isn't really a
story about the Arizona Cardinals. No, this story is about
the New Orleans Saints. Then if you're a Saints fan
who's tired of people questioning whether or not your team's
going to be good this year, Blame the organization. Blame
the narrative that's been spun. Blame the fact that you
waited until everybody else had already hired their guys so
(52:30):
you can hire yours. Blame the fact that Derek Carr
quote unquote couldn't do it anymore physically and that's why
he walked away. No, he just didn't want to play
for a bag of crap any longer. And who can
blame him? The New Orleans Saints stink. They are looked
at as going to be the worst team in the NFL.
And this is not a shot at Spencer Rattler, my guy,
(52:52):
not a shot at Kellen Moore. I think they've both
been put in difficult spots, almost impossible spots. The Saints
are going to be awful. This is going to be
a brutal year, and it's probably not going to be
the last time you hear the Saints mentioned as a
TGFG Game of the Week recipient. So there you go,
the Cardinals and the Saints your first recipients of the
(53:14):
TGFG Game of the Week. Thank God for gambling Game
of the Week, because if not for gambling, who's watching
this piece? All right? Again at Jonas Knox show on
Instagram at the Jonas Knox on x is where you
can find us here and you can always listen to
this show as well on the iHeartRadio app. All right,
it's coming up next here. Somebody in the NFL, in fact,
(53:35):
not even just one person, multiple people in the NFL
are trying to tell you a different story than what
the actual story is with a game this weekend. Find
out what it is right here on FSR. We don't
need to bring Jonas in Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio,
(53:59):
So we are going to get into this discussion about
some people who are trying to tell you a different
side of what the real story is for a matchup
this weekend in the NFL coming up here in just
a couple of moments from now, we'll get into that
for you here. Quick update from ames the Syhawk Bowl
(54:20):
between Iowa State and Iowa And Iowa State has taken
a sixteen to thirteen lead with under two minutes left
to go in the game. They're in ames Iowa between
the two on a fifty four yard field goal. It
was a long field goal that won it for Iowa State,
I believe last year. And so Iowa State has a
(54:40):
sixteen to thirteen lead on another long field goal with
one forty eight left to go in the game. By
the way, there's not a more daunting task in the
world of sports than Iowa down three with the ball
and a minute forty eight to go, Like literally, like
that's I mean, that's the equivalent of anybody else being
(55:01):
down eight hundred with two minutes left to go. But nonetheless,
Iowa's got the football with a chance to win. And
should be noted that if Kirk Farens, if Iowa does
win this game, which again we here at Fox Sports
Radio are hoping they don't just so we can everybody
can inundate Iowa sam with text messages. But Kirk Farans
(55:22):
would be the all time winning best coach in the
history of the Big Ten, which is really saying something
for all the jokes who make about Iowa that level
of consistency and success that he's had in one place
for as long as he does it is pretty amazing.
So maybe he will. He will set the mark here
if they're able to pull off the comeback against Iowa
State here but one more time, probably the best game
(55:45):
going right now Iowa State on Fox with a sixteen
to thirteen lead over Iowa, a minute twenty in change
left to go in the game there and a third
down for the Hawkeyes. Isaac Longcron will have you covered
on all the details of that throughout the course of
the show. Positive feedback here on this show, and no
doubt though, let's not bury the lead here and how
(56:07):
well we've done rob wrights in Unlike that fat efing
slob jof Jalen Carter who spits Jonas Knox always loves
to take it all and swallow every last bleep with
every lush's bleep, no matter how big or gigantic they
are at the Jonas Knocks on X or if you'd
(56:34):
like to see that for yourself, you can go to
Instagram at Jonas Knox Show. It's up there in the
ig stories for everybody to take a look at. So
there is that all right, so one of the most
interesting games because I mean there's really good games in
the NFL. Like if you were to bounce around the
NFL this weekend, there's really good games because there's a
(56:54):
lot of teams that are going to be terrible, but
at least they've got hope because they don't have a
winner loss yet, so it's like, man, this might be
the year. And then you know, like four minutes into
the game, you're like, oh, wasted my time again as
a fan. So you know, there's you know, some bad
football teams, but one of the more compelling matchups is
one that's been built up going all the way to
(57:14):
last year, and it's the Steelers at the Jets coming
up tomorrow. Now, the NFL will try and tell you like, oh,
we didn't know whether or not Aaron Rodgers was going
to come back, and we weren't We weren't sure whether
or not Aaron Rodgers was going to return and whether
he was going to play another It's like, okay, oh really, really,
they just happened to be on the schedule facing each
(57:35):
other in Week one. They just just happened to be
Oh no, we had no okay, sure, sure, you got it.
But you see the matchup and you go, that's clearly
the storyline. It's Aaron Rodgers versus Justin Fields. It's the
Steelers and the Jets, and it's Rogers going back to
face his former team and Justin Fields facing his former team.
(57:57):
And yet this entire week and this is not surprising.
I'm not gonna act like we're surprised here, but it
is a lie. Like it's a lie, like we're being
fed lies. But this entire week. If you were to
ask Justin Field, you asked Justin Fields early this week,
and he's sitting there saying, listen, man, you know I
don't get into all the narratives and the storylines. You know,
it's just another game. Blah blah blah, this and that. Okay, okay, okay.
(58:22):
And then you ask Aaron Rodgers. You're like, hey, man,
so what are your thoughts on this game? Facing your
former teammates and whatnot? Aaron Rodgers like, I mean, it's
just week one, you know, no big deal. Hey Lee Elia,
former manager of the Chicago Cubs who recently passed away, skip,
what is the what are your thoughts on Aaron Rodgers
(58:43):
and Justin Fields telling you. This matchup is just another
game in Week one between the Steelers and the Jets.
That's right, that's right. What a bunch of crap, What
a bunch of crap, my ass, This is just another game.
All luck to you guys. Get caught up in the store, dude.
(59:04):
Not even the fact that everybody knows Aaron Rodgers is
gonna have a red ass like. Let's just put that
one aside. We'll get to that here in a second.
Let's just talk about Justin Fields. Justin Fields could have
gone back to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He could have Justin
Fields had an opportunity to go back to Pittsburgh to
(59:26):
be the starter. That was what they wanted. In fact,
there's people in Pittsburgh that are still there that wanted
Justin Fields to be the guy last year when Russell
Wilson was struggling down the stretch and they couldn't get
rhythm back. There was even some people, if you believe
the reports, that were saying men when they were four
and two or whatever it was, and Justin Fields was,
(59:47):
you know, the offense was struggling, but guys on that
team wanted him to keep the job. So it's not
like they forced him out or pushed him out the door.
Didn't want that happened to Rodgers with Justin Fields. They
wanted him back. There were people there that wanted to
give him the job. And so when the time came
around and the Steelers were trying to get Matthew Stafford,
(01:00:11):
but that fell apart, and then they know, we're looking
around it. They wanted to keep Justin Fields. They wanted
him to return to be their quarterback. They wanted him
to be the starter. He chose not to. He chose
he decided not to. So this idea that oh, just
(01:00:32):
a normal game was just no, no, no no. You
took reportedly a little bit more in the guarantees to
go be the quarterback for the Jets. You chose to
be a part of that. You chose the Jets over
the Steelers, and in large part outside of just the money,
the fact that you didn't get an opportunity down the
stretch when a lot of people thought you should have.
(01:00:55):
But reportedly it was Mike Tomlin who wanted the consistency
of Russell Wilson and that's why he's stuck with Russ
down the stretch of that season last year. So this
idea of the whole. It's just another game, and all
you guys get caught up in the narratives.
Speaker 3 (01:01:09):
No, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (01:01:10):
The narrative is you chose, and now people want to
know whether you chose correctly. That's what it is. On
the Aaron Rodgers side of it, Rogers knows how to
play the game. He knows how to tell you whatever,
whatever story is gonna either you know, put a fire
out or spread the fire further. He knows exactly how
to play the game. You mean to tell me After
(01:01:32):
Aaron Rodgers sat down with an organization he wanted to
stay with, he wanted to be with, and talked with
their head coach, and their head coach said, we're moving on.
We don't want you anymore. You mean to tell me
that Rogers is just going to go into this game
and be like, ah, whatever, just another game, no big deal.
Speaker 3 (01:01:50):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (01:01:53):
It's it's not true, Like that's a lie. But whatever
they want to space you, whenever they want to sell you,
that's not true. That's why this matchup featuring teams that look,
I think the Jets are going to be bad. I
mean you've already got you know, well, maybe your best
offensive lineman, Elijah verh Tucker is gonna miss the season again.
(01:02:15):
That already came out. I think the Jets are going
to be bad. I think the Steelers are going to
be a wildcard team. I don't think they're winning the division.
I gave you the picks earlier. I think it's going
to be Cincinnati and Baltimore. But I do think Pittsburgh
gets one of the final wildcard spots. And I think
that Rogers comes back and he's a better player. But
if you don't think that Rogers is out to prove
something and Justin Fields is about to prove something, you're crazy.
(01:02:41):
Justin Fields wants to prove I should have been the
guy the entire time. I should have been the guy.
Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
It was me.
Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
Even people in that building know it should have been me.
I should have been that guy. And I'm gonna get
a chance to show you, like, Oh, you say you
wanted me, If you wanted me so bad, why didn't
you have to guarantees? Oh? And why didn't I get
my job back later in the year when Russell struggling,
he's carrying that into this game. He can tell you all.
I'll let you get caught up in the narratives, all dude,
(01:03:11):
the narratives you helped write, and Aaron Rodgers saying, well,
it's just week one. It's just week one. Come on.
That coach across the field told him to his face,
you're washed. We're moving on. Rogers knows he isn't He
knows he started to play well down the stretch. He
(01:03:32):
also knows that he was trying to hold an organization afloat.
That was a disaster. There was a sinking ship. But
you mean to tell me Rogers and everything we know
of Rogers, even when they drafted Jordan Love and Green Bay,
what did he go out and do. He was pissed,
he was upset. He talked about it, and then he
went and won two MVPs. Like you don't think Rogers
(01:03:54):
going into this game, it was like, hey, uh, I'm washed.
How about you watch this? Watch what happens now. That's
why this is maybe the most compelling matchup. It doesn't
mean they're these teams are the best teams in the league.
The best matchup on paper is Baltimore Buffalo, So it
doesn't mean these teams are the best teams in the league.
(01:04:15):
But storyline standpoint, this is the juiciest of them all.
And when you got two quarterbacks who are facing their
former teams who chose for different reasons to go in
another direction, and they basically QB swapped and they're seeing
each other in week one, and you got those quarterbacks saying, oh,
it's just another game.
Speaker 4 (01:04:35):
No no, no no.
Speaker 1 (01:04:36):
In the words of Lee Elia, my ass, this is
not just another game, and they both know it. At
the Jonas Knox on x at Jonas Knox Show on

(01:05:20):
the show, but right now pay your respects to a
man who deserves it, a man who has earned it,
and man who is going to tell us right now
whether or not the gift was given in ames Iowa?
Did we in fact see the Iowa Hawkeyes lose? Just
to stick it to Iowa. Sam here at FSR, the
(01:05:43):
one and only Sir Isaac Longrow.
Speaker 4 (01:05:44):
We did back to you.
Speaker 1 (01:05:46):
Yes, there you go, So break down all the offense
it took place in that game if you will.
Speaker 6 (01:05:51):
Oh, I will, and I will actually use since this
is radio and it is theater of the mind, I
will use sound effects to enhance my description of the
offense today. Oh sweet, yeah, yeah, that was kind of
low hanging fruit to be honest with you. Actually, we're
gonna start with an NFL node. We will go from
(01:06:14):
Iowa to Wisconsin, where NFL media just reported that new
Green Bay Packers linebacker Micah Parsons is expected to play
in the season opener on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.
But don't expect a full compliment of play. Shall we
go back to the Syhawk game? All right, Iowa and
sixteenth ranked Iowa State. We're tied at thirteen with one
(01:06:37):
fifty six left to play in the fourth quarter, is
Iowa State lined up for a fifty four yard field goal?
Here was John Walters on Kasi a.
Speaker 5 (01:06:47):
Fifty four yard field goal, except again by Kyle Conrardy
closing to Snap Perkins to hold kick on the way
A long wine drive.
Speaker 4 (01:06:56):
End over end, and it is God.
Speaker 5 (01:07:00):
Kyle Connroddy's hit another fifty four yarder against Iowa.
Speaker 6 (01:07:04):
And the Cycles, taking US sixteen thirteen, and that would
be the winner. Iowa State victorious over Iowa sixteen to thirteen.
So Iowa State takes home the cy Hawk Trophy, evidently
named for their respective mascots, Side the Cardinal and Herky
the Hawk and one footnote Jonas. The sy Hawk Trophy
(01:07:28):
was actually donated by the ICGA, the Iowa Corn Growers Association,
and I've been digging into them. You can find them
on social media at Iowa Underscore Corn their motto, No,
it's not their growers, not showers. Instead, it's our state,
(01:07:48):
our fields, our corn. And now the sy Hawk Trophy
belongs to Iowa State.
Speaker 1 (01:07:54):
Can I say this? So, Kyle Conrady, is that his
name Kyle Conraddy.
Speaker 4 (01:07:59):
The place case Conrardy Conrardy.
Speaker 1 (01:08:03):
Yeah, whatever. So it's the same guy who kicked the
long one last year. If I'm gonna like, here's what's
great about this. He may never play in the NFL,
he may never advance, he may never play in the XFL,
the CFL like his his career might end after his
time at Iowa State, And anytime he goes back there,
(01:08:25):
he's going to be a legend.
Speaker 4 (01:08:25):
He's already set for life.
Speaker 1 (01:08:27):
Like it's literally anytime he goes back because he won
two games basically, I mean, this was the game winning
kick again but there was time left. But again with
two minutes left in Iowa with the football it's over.
Speaker 4 (01:08:37):
Well, you know what. The one last year was also
fifty four yards.
Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
Yeah, and the one last year was at Iowa. And
then he does it again this year at Iowa. It's
like this, And that's what's great about this. Is he
anywhere else in the country. He could walk around town
and it's like, yeah, whatever, I don't even know who
that is. He doesn't stand out for anybody else. But
whenever he's in Ames for the rest of his life,
(01:09:01):
he's a legend. You will be celebrated. He's a legend
set matter what happens set for life.
Speaker 4 (01:09:06):
At the age of twenty years old. I mean, we
should all be so lucky anyway.
Speaker 6 (01:09:09):
Number seven Texas up thirty eight to seven over San
Jose State in the final moments, arch manning nineteen to
thirty two to ninety five, four touchdown passes, one interception.
Eleventh ranked Illinois has outscored Duke seventeen to nothing in
the fourth quarter. They're up forty five to nineteen over
the Blue Devils with three eighteen remaining s SMU ranked
seventeenth and Baylor are tied at thirty eight with twenty
(01:09:33):
nine seconds left to play in the fourth quarter. Number
nineteen Texas A and M of forty four to fourteen
over Utah State early in the fourth quarter. Number four
Georgia up fourteen to three over Austin p with two
minutes left in the first half. Eighth rank Clemson just
underway against Troy at a couple of finals from earlier.
Number two Penn State over Florida International thirty four to nothing.
(01:09:54):
Penn State running back ka Tron Allen ran for one
forty four including a sixty seven yard touchdown. Thranks Florida
State over East Texas A and M. Seventy seven to three.
Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos in less than two quarters
of work today seven of ten for two hundred and
thirty yards, three touchdown passes, including passes of forty two yards,
(01:10:17):
fifty three yards, and eighty two yards, and jonas on
behalf of the Iowa Corn Growers Association back to you.
Speaker 1 (01:10:27):
It's pretty sweet by the way. You know, I used
to think that the crop circles was all garbage, like,
you know, it's all a hoax. And you know, these
these guys come out with these.
Speaker 4 (01:10:37):
Long you know, like in the middle of the night
and they do and it designs. Yeah, and then like
I started.
Speaker 1 (01:10:43):
Looking into it a little bit. I started doing a
deep dive. Uh oh, some funny stuff there, man, no kidding,
it's it's basically it's I don't want to say it's impossible, yeah,
but the degree of difficulty to get it just right,
Like you can tell which ones are fake, but there
are some that will pop up randomly, and not even
(01:11:05):
just in Iowa but all over the world that will
pop up randomly, and they're like a man can't do that,
Like there's you can't do that. You literally cannot do that,
and there's like a like a substance, like an odor
that's attached. It's very interesting. You know. I'm trying to
keep you uh up on the crop circle world that's
out there, Isaac.
Speaker 6 (01:11:25):
What would you consider your crop circle philosophy maybe a
gateway drug into a descent into eventually being one of
those tinfoil hat people who follow on Twitter.
Speaker 1 (01:11:40):
Oh no, no, listen. I I love all that stuff,
like I love, you know, hearing theories about UFOs. I
think all that stuff is fascinating everything.
Speaker 4 (01:11:49):
So, as of now, this is the only quote unquote
conspiracy theory that you are kind of into.
Speaker 1 (01:11:54):
No, I mean there's there's there's several. I mean, I
don't know that that now is the time or the
place I'd like to gain listeners, not lose listeners. Okay,
And I feel like so a lot of people people
make the mistake of they they they tie together conspiracy
theories with either political views or and it's like, no, like,
(01:12:15):
you don't do that. You just here's the information and
then do you do you buy the information or not?
And there's a lot of information out there that.
Speaker 4 (01:12:23):
I'm just saying.
Speaker 6 (01:12:24):
You're like, you're like an onion. We keep peeling fascinating
layer after layer with you.
Speaker 1 (01:12:30):
That's correct.
Speaker 4 (01:12:31):
By the way, do you grill?
Speaker 1 (01:12:32):
Do you barbecue at all? Isaac?
Speaker 6 (01:12:33):
I actually have this kind of I'm kind of insulted.
You hit close to home on this. On Labor Day,
I attempted a brisket in my oven, had it in
there for five hours, and about eighty percent of it
did not work out.
Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
Okay, Well, you know, I don't want to attack your brisket.
I've never done the brisket thing, but I do like
to grill. Little little pro tip or I don't want
to say pro tip, amateur tip, but this is something
that I found. If you have a barbecue or a grill,
wait till it heats up. When you go to start it,
cut an onion in half and season the grill with
(01:13:09):
the onion. Oo. Okay, And the science of that is well,
just it adds some flavor to the grill. It's also
you know it. You can take the onion, cut another
chunk of the onion, put it on the grill. The
aroma goes in the air and the next time you
use it, and then after you're done with it, use
the other part of the onion to scrape the grill
afterwards to partially clean it, and the next time you
(01:13:31):
go to heat the grill up, it's gonna smell like
onions in the air. It's great.
Speaker 6 (01:13:34):
I think your many fans on social media owe you
a debt of thanks for not only the sports information
but also the grilling information.
Speaker 4 (01:13:42):
I'll check your mentions right away.
Speaker 1 (01:13:44):
Gave me listen, you mentioned onion. That's what it is.
Speaker 4 (01:13:46):
By the way, I'd also recommend don't ever show your
face in the city of Commerce, Texas.
Speaker 1 (01:13:51):
If I were you, Isaac, I would never show my
face there if I were you. And why is that?
That's where East Texas A and M is located in
You for two hours have bludgeoned them for their poor
output and showing against Florida State.
Speaker 6 (01:14:04):
I gave them props for willing their way onto the scoreboard.
If anybody, if they're mad at anybody, they should be
mad at Tommy Castellanos, not me.
Speaker 1 (01:14:15):
Pretty borderline disrespectful, but I guess we'll let it fly
here on the air.
Speaker 6 (01:14:20):
Border oslow Rigby's twenty one yard field goal oslow Rigby there,
I gave them some publicity.
Speaker 1 (01:14:27):
So sorry, Commerce, there's your publicity any relation to eleanor
Rigby when they're a song called eleanor Rigby.
Speaker 4 (01:14:33):
You're very right.
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
That's a good, good pull by you with that, all right,

on Instagram at Jonas Knox Show. Again at Jonas Knox
(01:16:07):
Show on ig is where you can see all that
fun stuff. But right now, it is time for the
twenty twenty five debut edition of something we do called
this Lock It. Let's lock it Knox Locks and listen.
If you were to go back to last year, while
(01:16:28):
we did finish off the year strong with a win
in the Super Bowl, we had the Eagles in that game,
But if you go back to last year, just in
the regular season, you know where you really really make
your money, where you got to make more picks than
just your playoff picks. It was a pretty successful one.
Twenty eight, twenty four and two was the record last year.
(01:16:50):
It was a nice bounce back performance. If anybody remembers
the year before, it was the first ever losing season
in the history of Knox Locks, which we've been doing
about a decade here on the network. So coming off
a winning performance last year in Knox Locks, it's time
to get things going and we start with this Bengals
(01:17:11):
had Browns. I'm taking Cincinnati here.
Speaker 4 (01:17:14):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
There's Bengals fans who have not been thrilled with the
content here on Fox Sports Radio covering the ninety nine
cent store operation that is the Cincinnati Bengals. But the
Bengals have made it a point all off season. We've
got to get out to a better start during the
regular season. We've got to get to better starts. We've
got to perform better. Their record through the first couple
(01:17:37):
of weeks of the season under Zach Taylor has been awful.
It's why they're having to play catch up later in
the year. It's why the Bengals last year weren't a
playoff team because they were losing games they should have won.
I can remember a game against Baltimore. You're like, how
they lose that game? What happened there. There was just
games last year for the Bengals early on that you
looked at and said, really, you lost that one. They've
(01:18:00):
made it a point. They've told you we're going to
change the way this season goes right from the jump.
And one of the things that they did is they
played their guys in the preseason because they felt like
that was part of the problem. Players weren't ready to go,
maybe not all prepared. Joe Burrow played, the offense played.
They made it a point. We've got to get out
to a better start, and they're going to get out
to a better start against a Cleveland Browns team that.
(01:18:21):
Let's be honest, the storyline of the Browns this entire
offseason was their third string quarterback. That ought to tell
you where things are with the Brownies. I like the Bengals.
I like the Bengals minus five. Give me Cincy to
open up the air. Took the Buccaneers at Falcons. I'm
(01:18:42):
gonna take Atlanta here. Atlanta's getting a point and a
half and they're at home. I think this is a
surprise spot for the Atlanta Falcons. We're not really sure
what we have in Michael Pennix junior. But I'll take
my chances. Everyone's talking about Tampa Bay. Everyone's talking about
Tampa Bay running rough shot over that division. Atlanta's my
surprise team in the Ena as far as a division
winner goes. I like the Falcons. I like the Falcons
(01:19:04):
to open up the season at home getting a point
and a half. Vikings said Bears. I'm gonna take the Bears.
Same thing, same story, getting a point and a half
at home on Monday Night football. And this isn't so
much about Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson, who have been
the story. This is more about JJ McCarthy, who's a rookie.
He's a rookie quarterback. It doesn't mean the Bears are
(01:19:25):
going to be better than the Vikings by the time
the regular season is over. I think they will be,
but it shouldn't surprise anybody. Minnesota's got a good roster.
They think they're a quarterback away. I just can't trust
that young quarterback in primetime on the road in his
first ever start. So I'll take Chicago plus a point
and a half. And that is your Week one edition
of Knox Long Knocks. Thank you to Chris Purfett. Thank
(01:19:53):
you to Bo Benson and thank you to Isaac Lohankron.
It's been a fun one week. One of the NFL
is here, keep it locked right here on Fox Sports Radio,
Jonas Son of a Bitch,
