you know, somebody tried to tell you something and it
kind of got lost in the mix of all these
other quotes and comments and sayings and discussions and things
(01:53):
like that. But somebody tried to tell you something about
an ORGANI is months ago, and in fact, probably even
longer than that, Like, do you remember this a little
little little go way back in time here. This is
from a couple of months ago. Aaron Rodgers was on
(02:14):
the Pat McAfee show and was talking about one of
the big issues with the New York Jets as an organization,
and he had this to.
Speaker 5 (02:22):
Say, Obviously, what's best for the Jets is not having
these type of leaks all the time. And when that
gets figured out, then it'll be a little easier to win.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
Hmm.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
According to Steve Helling and Ryan Dunlevy of The New
York Post, Aaron Rodgers quote pleaded with the Jets to
keep him, and in the final conversations with the team's
new regime quote aggressively urged the franchise to give him
another year, possibly even two, and in the end he
(03:01):
reportedly accepted the decision quote like a man going to
the gallows. Also, he was right months ago and he
said they got to fix these leaks, and so he
was right about that. He's been spot on about this
the entire time. They can't even move on from this
(03:26):
experiment with Rogers without letting more information come out and
more reports come out, and more details come out that
don't need to be coming out at all at all.
There's been speculation about Aaron Rodgers maybe going to the Steelers.
(03:46):
I got news for you that might be one of
the biggest appealing factors of going to Pittsburgh, considering where
you just came from, because you know, in Pittsburgh stuff's
probably not going to get out. How do we know that?
Antonio Brown, upon further review, was kind of a little
bit of an issue in the locker room at multiple stops,
(04:09):
and if you talk to enough people there, they go, Yeah,
that stuff was going on in Pittsburgh for a long time.
It never got out publicly. Now Antonio Brown has bounced
back flawlessly. I've said it for you know quite some
time now, I would love to be nominated for Cracker
of the Year or of the Day. I'll take a
day or an hour. That's fine, hands down the greatest
(04:31):
Cracker of all time. But that the point of that is,
if Rogers is looking to land in a place where
he doesn't have to worry about this garbage coming out
even after he's no longer a member of the organization,
Pittsburgh might be the spot. But this is exactly what
he told everybody about from the get go. They got leaks,
(04:54):
they got problems, too many people talking, how many The
most comical part about this whole decision to part ways
was how the Jets were worried about whether or not
Aaron Rodgers was going to do his Pat McAfee hits anymore.
You know, he needed to be here no more doing
(05:16):
those media hits with Pat McAfee, like, you know, just
really letting him know, Hey, we're gonna let you know
whose boss. It's like, okay, so you're telling me not
to talk to the media while you talk to the
media to give details about telling me not to do
what you're currently doing. Well, that makes sense. It's a
(05:40):
clown show. The whole thing like all of it, I
mean all these report Lol. You know you can't talk
to so and so. And we made the decision to
move on, and he accepted it and walked away and
was begging in pleading for us, really like you think
(06:05):
Aaron Rodgers is begging and pleading with the Jets to
give him a year or another two years. He flew
back there, he was interested in returning, and if the
Jets wanted him to come back and they could come
to terms on that, no problem. But if you agreed
to move on and go your separate ways and just said, hey,
gave it a shot. We got a new regime here,
(06:26):
we gave it a go. Didn't work out, Hey, no harm,
no hard feelings. You go your way, I go my way,
No problem whatsoever. That's fine, no issues. But that's how
that's how it's handled. Instead, since then, we've gotten multiple
(06:47):
reports from people who I guarantee you haven't talked to Rogers,
are talking to the Jets telling you exactly why they
made the decision and exactly what went into the decision.
Oh so everything that he said and talked about and
discussed was true. He told you what some of the
(07:13):
issues were and so the Jets think, hey, don't worry
about it. Like, listen, we got a brand new coach,
we got a brand new GM. We don't have to
worry about this quarterback anymore. It is a brand new
day for the New York Jets. We got this. We're
gonna be good. Don't worry. Hey, every not to worry.
(07:36):
It's a it's a new feel here with the Jets.
It's not the same old Jets that you've known for
all these years. Oh it's not. You're an hour and
a half in to this quote unquote new regime, and
you were leaking info about somebody who's not even on
(07:57):
the team anymore. And this is exactly why when Woody
Johnson comes out and says, oh, well listen, they're gonna
be the ones making the decision. You know, I trust
the football people to do the football things. Okay, sure,
(08:18):
and yet more of this comes out. But the problem
is when Rogers is talking and doing all these hits
and everything like that, you've got people who have agendas.
People want to, like, you know, attack the guy because
they're still bitter about the COVID stuff and all that,
and so you kind of lose little gems that he
(08:38):
drops in your lap. Over the course of time when
he's on the Pat McAfee show starring aj Hawk, you
kind of lose little gems like that. And I always
remember that one because it was like, you know, he's
got a point. It does feel like there's a lot
of stuff that comes out like way more than other organizations,
(08:59):
and it feels like you don't really get that information
from other organizations that are also awful until maybe later on.
With the Jets, this transaction just took place, what three
four days ago, They just made the call. Already we've
got their side pushing out more of the narrative. Oh,
this is why we did it. This is what he
(09:20):
told you. And so the Jets trying to sit here
and let it be known it was their call. Hey, hey,
we're the ones moving on. We're too good for you.
That's like Jeffrey Dahmer looking you up and down and going, ugh,
I'll pass, oh you will? Oh boy, damn room a day. Boy,
(09:47):
that sucks. What an insult. Hey, the weirdo with a
three inch thick glasses doesn't want to eat my calfo? Boy,
what a bummer? Was really hoping I could camp out
in your freezer next to the vandicamps for two more weeks. Boy,
what a bummer, like the Jets trying to tell you, no, no,
(10:11):
we're not interested.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Oh you're not.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Oh go okay, oh you're not interested in my services.
It's you making the decision. You're the ones calling that. Okay,
all right, I'll mark my words right now. Wherever Rogers
ends up, if he decides he wants to play another year,
I guarantee you the team he ends up with finishes
(10:37):
with a better record than the New York Jets. Do guaranteed, guaranteed,
Like I don't need to know who they're bringing in.
I just know whatever move they're gonna make is probably
gonna be the wrong one. And we've got enough of
a sample size at this point to know, yeah, that's
(10:59):
probably true. But the next time somebody tries to tell
you or warn you about something, you might want to listen.
Rogers said it a long ass time ago, and he's
been proven correct, and he's not been with the team
for forty eight seventy two hours, and already another report
comes out about why the Jets were in control. Jonas

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Coming up in a little
over ten minutes from now. There's a report out about
a star player in the NFL. Not sure if it's
actually accurate, but I do tend to believe this report
based on just how something looked over the past several days.
(12:38):
So we'll get into that for you again. Coming up
here a little over ten minutes from now from the
ti raq dot Com studio. So I'll tell you a
little story. I was in when we were at the
Super Bowl New Orleans one of the nights. I'm back
in the hotel room and just kind of watching, you know,
something on TV. I think it might have been I
forget what channel it was, but they were discussing the
(13:01):
Buffalo Bills lost in the Super Bowl back in nineteen
ninety nineteen ninety one, and it was really good document.
I think it's Four Falls of Buffalo. It's really good.
I've seen it before, but I just there was nothing
else on, so I just kind of threw that on
and was watching it. And they showed afterwards when the
Bills lost that heartbreaking game, and they showed that one
(13:25):
and then the next one, and the one after that
and then the fourth, and one thing was consistent through
all of it, that fan base showed up. No matter what,
they showed up, no matter what. They were devastated, they
were heartbroken, but the Bills fan base, after every single loss,
(13:48):
continued to show up and show support for their team.
It was really amazing, and some of the players were
touched by, you know, their attendance, and Scott Norwood, who
missed the kick in the first Super Bowl loss for
the Bills, was you know, dealing with heartbreaking is still
heartbroken over it and looks like that's something you know,
he's you know, at the time of the documentary at
(14:09):
least was never really over, like he just had been
kind of dealing with it and all this guilt that
came along with it. And that fan base was there
to support all of those guys in their time of
need when they felt like they let an entire city
down and we're just devastated by the result. So I'm
watching that, and then I'm watching the Eagles fans who
(14:33):
just won a Super Bowl, and it's like we are
in two different worlds. Man, it is two different worlds.
Bills fans lose Super Bowls and heartbreaking fashion, and they
come out to support their team and to celebrate finishing
(14:57):
second like nobody else else would. Eagles fans win a
Super Bowl. And you've got beer cans hitting Howie Roseman
in the head, You've got fans blowing chunks over the
rail at nine in the morning. You've got in previous
(15:23):
Super Bowls fans punching police horses and eating horse crap
off the ground. Literally, you got light poles, gunshots, I mean,
anything you could possibly want that would be viewed as
absolute chaos. They've got it there and they won. Like
(15:48):
we're not talking about man, this is just devastating. I
need to have a drink. It's seven forty five in
the morning, it's Friday, it's Valentine's Day. I'm lonely. I
gotta have a drink. No, no, no, they're in a good mood.
You got a guy blowing chunks over the rail and
he's in a good mood. And it just got me
(16:09):
to thinking there is something about that fan base and
that organization that they do not accept anything less than success.
And sometimes you'll get you know the fan if Eagles
fans will get criticized mole, they're they're over the top
(16:29):
and they're you know this, and they're it's like, okay, well,
Bill's fans are jumping through flaming tables with mustard autumn
before games, Like that's happening too. But there is more
of a family. Hey, we're all together. It's Bill's mafia,
but it's not really a mafia. It's not like the
type of mafia you're thinking of. It's like, no, we're
(16:50):
just we're no matter what, we're gonna show up and
support our team. No matter what you lose a Super Bowl,
We're coming to the airport when you arrive, and we're
gonna make you forget all about that. We're going to
do our best to make sure that, no matter what,
you feel better about the situation. The Eagles win a
Super Bowl and their GM wears a bud light on
(17:13):
the forehead while he's smoking a cigar. I don't know.
I just like, like we were talking two different worlds,
and as critical as we want to be about the behavior,
and look, nobody, you know, you don't condone people obviously
getting shot and there was seriously there was a tragedy,
and there's serious events that take place. But the big
(17:34):
picture when it comes to all of this, and it's
represented on the field. And like Nick Sirianni said it
a few days ago after they won the Super Bowl,
pretty sure he was hungover. If he wasn't, you know,
sorry I made it sounded like he was. But Nick
Sirianni said it a few days ago where he said, look,
I think the adversity we went through last year I'm
(17:55):
thankful for because I think it prepared us for this year.
And it's like, Okay, well, I mean that's a nice thought,
but you were literally on the hot seat and you've
got one of the best records in the NFL the
past four or five years. Like he's done stuff that
very few coaches have done his first four years as
(18:16):
coach of the Eagles. And I said it last week
before the Super Bowl, Man, if Philly wins this game,
I hope Nick Sirianni starts getting a little bit of respect.
Like he doesn't have a contract beyond next season. Now,
obviously that's going to change. They'll give him an extension
and all that. But a year ago we were talking
about that guy getting fired and them hiring Bill Belichick
(18:38):
or Mike Rabel or somebody else because Sirianni couldn't cut it.
Like Doug Peterson won a Super Bowl and it seemed
like twenty minutes later he was out. Carson Wentz was
their franchise guy. We love Carson Wentz. Love Carson Wentz. Dude,
(18:59):
he's back up in Kansas City now, Like there is
something about that organization, that city, that general manager that
you can't get comfortable, like it is a volatile place
to where you're thinking, Man, I just want a super Bowl.
(19:19):
I'm good for now. But would it surprise you if
Nick Sirianni two years from now the Eagles move on
from Sirianni because they have some down years. Other places,
you can cash in and bank on a super Bowl.
You win one, you're set. You go to a super
(19:40):
Bowl and you are set. They won't make a change.
You can live off that one year of success for
a long ass time. There's a lot of people that
bring that up about Mike Tomlin and the Steelers, like, hey,
you won a super Bowl long time ago. Last time
he was in a super Bowl was against Green Bay.
(20:00):
That was twenty eleven. That's a long time and it's
only now that you're starting to hear like, hey, you know,
maybe maybe you know, maybe there's a change that could
take place. But we're not firing him. But if somebody
offered us a bunch of money, you know, maybe we would,
or a bunch of draft capital, maybe we would consider
making a deal. Like I imagine that in Philly. Like
(20:27):
if Nick Sirianni wins this super Bowl, could you imagine
him going another fifteen years not getting back to one
and still having his job even if he didn't have
a losing season. No, Like, they're what two and a
half three hours apart in the same state. It is
completely different, a completely different universe. So we can call
(20:52):
out the fan base for being nuts jobs, we can
say they're a little bit reckless. We can say, yeah,
you know you turn it burn on coaches, look like
whatever you want to call it, it works, man, And
whether it's Howie Roseman or just the culture, whatever it is,
it works. And while a lot of people sit back
(21:12):
and they judge it because oh my god, why don't you,
you know, celebrate your players, stop being so critical, stop
calling into radio shows and criticizing them. And everybody wanted
Sirianni fired, Like, Hey, whether it was adversity last year
or not, whatever they got going on, it works, and
it worked again this year and they're Super Bowl champions.
Jonas Knox he or Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas
(21:34):
Knox on X at the Jonas Knox on X and
you can hang out with us as always on the
iHeartRadio app art it's coming up next here. There's a
report out there, a report we don't know whether or
not it's a legitimate report, but at least it is
something that's kind of floating around on social media. We
will get into that for you here on FSR, but
for our latest from around the world of sports, we
(21:56):
turn it over to the man himself, Mark Weias.
Speaker 6 (21:59):
The NBA and it's All Star festivities up there in
San Francisco at the Chase Center. Last night was the
Rising Stars Game. Stefan Castle, Spurs guard won the Rising
Stars MVP. The teams were made up consisting of rookies
and second year players. Castle will also be participating in
the Slam Dunk Contest tonight, and as a result of
(22:19):
winning the Rising Stars Game, he'll also play on Sunday,
making him the first player to participate in all three
days of All Star Weekend since Blake Griffin and his
rookie year in twenty eleven. Bucks guard Damian Lillard going
for his third straight three point Contest win tonight as well.
The New Orleans Saints announced there to interview Derante Jones
for defensive coordinator of Kellen Moore's new staff. Jones was
(22:42):
the defensive backs coach for the Minnesota Vikings and passing
game coordinator Atlanta Falcons tight ends coach Kevin Koger declined
an opportunity to interview for the Saints offensive coordinator job
under Kellen Moore, and reportedly The New York Post is
reporting that Aaron Yi I just quote pleaded with the
New York jest to keep him and that in the
(23:03):
final conversations with the team's new head coach and general
manager Rogers quote aggressively urged the franchise to give him
another year he maybe even two. And men's college basketball
number twenty three Clemson beat Florida State seventy two to
forty six.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Jonas back to.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
You, Thanks Martin Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up in a little over fifteen minutes from now,
we are going to have another edition of Do You Care.
A lot of people say we're way too negative on
the show. We're going to fix that. We'll put a
stop to that. Brutally honest commentary on several storylines in
the world of sports you've been force fed over the
past several days. That'll be yours here again a little
over fifteen minutes from now. So, I don't know if
(23:42):
this is a legitimate report, all right, not dismissing the
person reporting it. Nate Taylor, who covers the Kansas City
Chiefs for the Athletic. He is reporting that the Chiefs
want Travis Kelsey to return for one more season as
quote unquo quote a role player, that Kelsey would have
(24:03):
to be okay with not being a focal point of
the offense, be more of a role player, etc.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Etc.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
Kelsey's gotten until March fourteenth to decide his future, and
the expectation is that Kelsey will return for another year. Now.
I don't know if that's legitimate, all right, again, not
trying to dismiss the reporter. I don't know if it's legitimate,
but it does make a lot of sense. I can't
(24:29):
imagine that Travis Kelcey wants his final moment and memory
of his playing career to be whatever the hell that
was It took place on Sunday. That was awful, Like
that was brutal, and whether you want to pinpoint a
couple of plays during that game to where it looked
like he was kind of mailing it in, because it
(24:50):
did look like there wasn't a lot of effort there.
The fact that he talked about it and was so
remorseful and almost embarrassed by the loss, as was My Holmes,
as was Andy Reid. To me, if I'm betting he's
coming back, and if it isn't a diminished role, whatever,
(25:11):
he comes back for one more year, I just can't
imagine that that guy shows back up or shows up
for that game last Sunday and just says, you know what,
I've had enough. That's it. And he talked about it
recently when he was on the podcast, just saying, yeah,
you know, body's not the same. He's played a lot
of football. Like the guy's played twenty five career playoff games.
(25:31):
It's like, you know, top five to six in the NFL,
there's some people tied in the mix there. Tom Brady's
played like forty eight, which is crazy. Travis Kelsey, to
his point, has played a lot of extra football, more
so than anybody else. But the way he talks about
it and the way they talk about it, this past
game on Sunday left a bad taste in all their mouths.
(25:55):
Much like what happened in Tampa Bay that Patrick Mahomes
reference when they lost the Bucks, the way they did
this one felt worse because it was pretty obvious early
on how that game was gonna go. And we could say, well,
you know, Jalen hurts through an interception. It's like, okay,
I mean it was the equivalent of a punt. Like
it wasn't really, you know, I mean, let's not act
(26:18):
like it was some catastrophic pick six that cost him
a game. It was like early in the game he
threw the interception. But even then, you could tell Philadelphia
had the better roster, they were the better team, they
were more alert Andy Reid. Early in that game, they
show him on the sideline going over to the players
(26:38):
to try and wake him up, trying to get the
offense going. I think Andy Reid knew early on, uh oh,
we don't have our fastball, and in fact, we don't
have our one pitch or a number two pitch, like
we're in trouble. He knew it. Like that game was
a from start to finish ass whooping. I don't care
(27:00):
what the score says. That game wasn't close, and that
looked way worse than the game against Tampa, way worse.
So again, I don't know if this report is true.
I don't know how accurate it is, but that is
a report that is out there that Travis Kelcey is
(27:20):
expected to return next year, potentially for a diminished role
or as more of a role player. That's the reporting
that's being done on his future, potentially with the Kansas
City Chiefs, which makes a ton of sense. Again, I
can't imagine he wants to walk away and have that
being his lasting view or lasting presentation of his NFL career.
(27:42):
I just can't imagine it. I guess so Nate Taylor,
who's reporting that, says Kelsey and the Chiefs are expected
to come to terms at some point or they would
like him to come back, you know, make that announcement soon.
He's gotten until March fourteenth is the deadline, but they
would like him to come back as more of a
role player. Again, you posted if that report is refuted,
but it makes a lot of sense to me. Jonasnx
(28:04):
HE or Fox Sports Radio. Also, if you were wondering,
and I don't know if you found yourself the same
as me, because I didn't know that I would ever
need this or want this for a reason. Pete Thammil
of ESPN was reporting this earlier that discussions are continuing
to be had regarding the expansion of the NCAA Tournament
(28:27):
to seventy six teams. Why other than the obvious money.
But this is this is where you got to know
less is more. Even when he's discussing the possibility of this,
(28:48):
they're on campus doing their game day show and the
fans inside the arena are booing. Nobody wants this. We don't.
Like I've never watched tournament and thought, you know, we
could use more teams, Like, yeah, that's what we need,
more teams, Like this isn't college football where hey we
(29:12):
were at four teams and no, I mean, and I
kind of slowly agree, Okay, all right, well I guess
if you want to expand, we can expand, and then
you get the twelve team playoff. I personally loved it. Eventually,
I'm sure it's gonna go to sixteen, maybe even more,
but I could understand that because there was a need
for it. There is no need to expand the NCAA
(29:34):
Tournament to seventy six teams. If the first sixty eight
can't figure it out, then you either need less or
you need to just keep it as it is. Nobody
watching the tournament is going, man, I could really use
a few more teams in here. It would be like
the NBA and Adam Silver announcing, you know what we're
(29:56):
gonna do. We're gonna add more games to our regular season.
All that'll fix it. Yeah, yeah, that'll fix it. Like
no one, you're in demand and not the NFL knows
when it's in demand. And that's why there's conversations about
them expanding and growing the league and adding more games.
There's a reason why them and college football are the
(30:18):
only two talking about more that people actually want. But
when you're talking about the NBA, Major League Baseball, college
like any of these other sports, the only discussions that
are being had about how to make it better is
by taking away some Let's let's lower this, let's shorten
(30:39):
the quarters, let's do less games, let's see let's you know,
pitch clock like, let's let's make these games shorter. So
the NCAAA and the tournament possibly expanding to seventy six teams,
I think it'll probably happen because they're gonna view it
as a money grab, Like why not, we could use
the money. I don't think there's any that needs to
(31:00):
see more teams in the NCAA tournament just doesn't make sense.

(31:44):

Speaker 3 (32:12):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
DMS reports.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big stories from
the last week. But Jonas, the real question is do
you care?
Speaker 2 (32:27):
And for that we turn it over to our executive producer,
a man who is so thrilled to be back here
on the show, the one and only Bo Bench.
Speaker 7 (32:37):
I hope that was not sarcasm. I detected there. I'm
over the moon to be back with you. Jonas. This
is always a treat.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
I mean, you didn't have to kick Patrick and the
nuts on the way out the door.
Speaker 7 (32:47):
Yeah, yeah, I did.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Let's be honest here, Okay, Yeah, that's fair. Yes, that's fair. Look,
you know we we do uh here from time to time.
We do condone that.
Speaker 7 (32:57):
Here's anybody that needs it, it's it's Patrick. Yes, that's true,
that's true.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
What do we got today?
Speaker 7 (33:03):
Both yesterday at the Eagles parade among the Shenanigans, Saquon Barkley,
he spotted one of the Eagles ball boys in the crowd.
He pulled them over the railing and allowed them to
join the team. And you know, the entire parade walked
along with him, Jonas do you care?
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Yeah? I do.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
Here does it say how old the kid is? He
didn't look to be a kid.
Speaker 7 (33:26):
Ball Boy looks a little deceptive in this in this conversation.
He looked to be a full grown man. Okay, but
either way, you know, Saquon lifted him over the barrier,
which is impressive.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
So could he, like you, would you say that he
was old enough to partake in some of the some
of the lid licking. That was oh yeah, absolutely, yeah, Okay, Yeah,
so that's good because I mean, I'll be honest with you,
I've been to a championship parade. Was the It was
the Penguins parade. I think back in twenty sixteen. We
(33:56):
just happened to be out there because we were covering
the US Open, and I was like, you know what,
I've never been to a chainampionship parade before. Let me
go check it out.
Speaker 7 (34:03):
It was lame.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
I just I like, I don't know what to tell people.
It's just kind of lame, just kind of sitting there.
The players, you know, get off the top of the
cars when they ride through, and then they're just kind
of like all right, thanks guys, and then they go
to drink like it's just kind of there. Wasn't not
really into it, But you know, if you can partake
in it and sit on top of a car and
throw a few back with some of your favorite players,
why not next.
Speaker 7 (34:24):
Sew former Seahawks running back in NFL Icon. Marshawn Lynch
has been cast in season three of HBO's Euphoria Jonas
Do you care?
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Not?
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Really? Isn't that show kind of a bit raunchy?
Speaker 4 (34:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (34:40):
I recall, hey, you.
Speaker 7 (34:41):
Know it's it's up there. And I will say that
Marshawn Lynch is actually a good actor. If you've seen
him in anything. Yeah, he's got comedic timing and all
that stuff. So it'll be interesting to see how he
handles a dramatic role like he's gonna have here.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
That's what I was gonna say, because Euphoria is not
exactly a comedy from what I remember, like from what
people have told me, Like, I can't imagine there's a
lot of you know, hilarious scenes there. It feels like
some pretty serious, you know, graphic content from time to time.
So I mean, who knows, we'll see maybe he'll try
that on and he'll add to his growing portfolio.
Speaker 7 (35:15):
Next, Cam Newton doubled down on his comments about his panthers.
He said that the locker room was full of losers
before he got there. He doubled down this week on
his podcast, saying that his words were aggressive but true.
He was called out by Steve Smith and our very
own Jeff Schwartz for what he said.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
I mean, of course I care about this is great. Look,
the guy's got an opinion about what he saw when
he walked in, and he's giving his opinion. He's entitled
to that. I mean, anybody in the media is entitled
to give their opinion. And I'll say this about Cam Newton, man,
the guy has he's not mailing it in when he
does whatever he does for his shows. His podcast is
(35:57):
social media Like do you know how long it must
take him to type out things on social media? Like?
He's not mailing it in, all right. He makes sure
everything is well thought out, well put together. He's not
afraid to call people out. He's not afraid to be aggressive,
as he says. So good for Cam Newton. Keep doing
it man, The guy does good content.
Speaker 7 (36:16):
Next, Shaquille O'Neill and TNT have agreed to a fifteen
million dollars deal. It's going to keep the entire cast
of Vincia inside the NBA together going into next year,
as the show is going to be licensed out to ESPN,
as T and T no longer has the rights. Jonas,
do you care?
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Not really care? It's just kind of a bummer just
thinking that it's going to feel different because even though,
like I would like to trust that ESPN's not going
to do anything to try and, you know, change how
the show is presented. I think they've done a pretty
decent job just letting Pat mcabee do what he does.
(36:55):
But there's always the possibility that somebody's going to get
their hands on it, somebody you and try and change
the dynamic. And I'm not thrilled about that because I
feel like there's the potential of that happening, and hopefully
those guys put a stop to it.
Speaker 7 (37:07):
Next Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard are your headliners for
the twenty twenty five class of the Basketball Hall of Fame. Jonas,
do you care?
Speaker 2 (37:17):
Not really Listen and you know it's like, yeah, they're
going to get in cool like do we need to know, like, oh,
if we're down to finalists, we're down to this, Like no,
just tell me who's getting into the Hall of Fame.
Both those guys are going to get in. Carmelo Anthony
was fantastic. If he gets labeled, wow, you know, he
didn't win anything in the NBA and he wasn't half
(37:39):
the player Lebron was. There was a time Carmelo Anthony
was the best scorer in the sport. He was unbelievable, unbelievable.
Dwight Howard there was a time where he was one
of the better players in the league. He was fantastic. Now,
since Dwight Howard has retired, all sorts of things have
come out about Dwight Howard and you know, well certain
(38:01):
likes and you know preferences that he has. But again,
you know, the Hall of Fame this is about what
you did on the court and not what you rumored
to do off the court. That may have been revealed
in a sit down interview with Cam Newton and somebody
who happened to know Dwight Howard really well. Like so again,
you can look that up for yourself. I'm not trying
(38:22):
to get us thrown off the air. But there has
been some stuff out there. When it comes to to
Dwight Howard, that you know, a little bit interesting.
Speaker 7 (38:28):
Next, last, but not least here, scientists in Europe have
discovered a type of fungus that takes over cave spiders
and terms turns them into zombies, moving their bodies around
to spread their spores. Speaking of which, new season of
the Last of Us premieres in a couple of months here.
So Jonas, do you care about this development?
Speaker 2 (38:49):
I have to now, I guess thank you, Thank you
for that. We appreciate it. By the way, how about Bo,
who's just you know, got the heart of a thief,
who literally on a morning when we got hit with
about seventy five earthquakes in a six hour span here
in southern California, Bo decides, Oh, by the way, there's
zombie spiders that could come out of caves.
Speaker 7 (39:09):
I slipped through those earthquakes. I gotta be honest with you,
I didn't know that's even happened.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
All right, wilsonce we're here. I'll be honest with you.
I was on the toilet for one of them. Well
was an earthquake, So you know, impromptu laundry session took place,
you know, later and later in the night than I
was expecting. But that happens.
Speaker 5 (39:27):
You know.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
You can't you can't predict or plan these things. Let's
go live to her. I have a thought on earthquakes
inside of Chris Prophet for the latest Chris didn't feel nothing. Yeah,
thank you, Chris. Yeah, listen. So we're dealing with that,
and Bo decides to pop up with zombie spiders crawling
out of caves and and if you're seeing any of
the new details that are coming out about these UAPs
(39:50):
or UFOs and you know whatever story it was about
the drones, and they're coming out of the water and
they're moving like battleships waiting. These are alien zombie spiders.
It shit like who knows, Like all this stuff like
there's beings that are out there that are currently among us,
Like they're trying to scare us. They're trying to freak
us out, and it's working, thank God for sports. So
(40:11):
we're gonna take a little look into the future, a
potential future for a Hall of Famer in the NFL.
We'll get into that for you coming up here in
just a couple of moments from now. Jonas Knox Fox
Sports Radio. You can hang out with us as always
on the iHeartRadio app. You can find us on hundreds

(40:54):
the way tire buying should be. So we were talking
about this store that came out earlier, which is just
part of the course when it comes to the circus
clown show that is the New York Jets organization. But
there is a story that came out via The New
York Post Steve Helling and Ryan dunleavy of The New
(41:18):
York Post reporting that Aaron Rodgers quote pleaded with the
Jets to keep him in the final conversations with the
team's new regime. He quote aggressively urged the franchise to
give him another year or even two, and in the end,
he reportedly accepted the decision, quote like a man going
to the gallows. Yeah, boy, wait to really sell us
(41:41):
on the scene there and what it was like when
Rogers left. And look, I find that hard to believe.
But the fact that that's even out there just goes
to show you Aaron Rodgers was one hundred percent correct
when he said it months ago. The Jets have to
fix their lead. He was one hundred percent correct. He
(42:02):
said it multiple times. It got lost in all the
other discussions and commentary that he made and everybody kind
of parsing his words and what did he mean here?
And we're not going to get burned again on the
COVID immunize stuff. He said it. They got too many leaks.
We've got to fix the leaks. There's too many leaks
in the organization. And now he's not even there anymore.
(42:26):
They've made the decision to move on. And instead of
just being like, hey, we're done here, all good now,
we've got to have more details come out. Now there's
more of this. The Jets are no, no, no, you can't
do your interviews with Pat McAfee. If you want to
stay with our organization? No, no, no. When he left,
he begged us to stay, and we're the ones who
(42:47):
broke up with him and he had to walk away
and shame after It's like, what are we doing here?
Like this is what he called like he called this.
All they're doing is proving them right.
Speaker 3 (43:00):
Just move on.
Speaker 2 (43:01):
Hey didn't work, okay, all good? Like nobody in sports
had a more tumultuous final chapter of their career with
an organization than Jimmy Butler did. Nobody Jimmy Butler in
the Heat? How many suspensions letting them wait on the tarmac,
(43:24):
All the reports that came out of there, I haven't
heard anything. If I'm not mistaken, I think Butler said
he had respect for the organization. All that stuff. They
just realized, Hey, it's run its course, let's move on.
But that's the problem the Miami Heat or a well
(43:45):
run organization not worried about anything. They'll figure it out.
They usually do. Pat Riley's the Helm like they get like,
they'll figure this out. They'll stay in the fight. Jimmy
Butler on different No, I'm in Golden State now, I
got a contract restructure. We're good. Hey, Hey, didn't work out.
(44:07):
I'm over it. Fine, let's just go play ball. You
guys do your thing, I'll do mine. Good, All good,
no problem. The Jets can't let the guy get out
the building without them trying to sift more rumors and
reports and details out about the department. Like it's just
this is everything that you'd expect it to be from
the Jets. And I said it earlier. I'll take my
(44:28):
chances if Rogers comes back and plays whatever team he
ends up on, I guarantee you they finished with a
better record than the Jets do, they'll have more success
than the Jets will, because the Jets have decades of
evidence that they've given us that they'll never figure it out,
like especially a quarterback, like I swore, Like at one
(44:53):
point this week, I was we're kind of discussing on
the show Two Pros and a Cup of Joe myself
starring me, of course, And then the hell's that guy's name?
Played at Penn State? What the hell is his name?
Speaker 8 (45:09):
Never heard of?
Speaker 2 (45:10):
Damn it?
Speaker 3 (45:13):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (45:13):
Hackenberg? No Rob Parker, No, no, no, no, no, Rob Rob.
Rob couldn't afford Penn State no, No, I think Ben
went to like Saddleback or saddle Ranch or something like
like what like uh more, number eleven, Matt McGloin, No,
(45:36):
not mav mcloin, Oh LeVar Rington, And the hell is
that guy's name played? Played it? Notre Dame, not Claus
and not Claus, and what the hell was his name was?
Got a Golden Tate? Oh, Brady Quinn. So I was
doing the show with those guys, and we were just
kind of, you know, kicking around, like, hey, what what's
(45:57):
it going to look like moving forward? And you know,
like the Jets situation, and I brought up to him.
I was like, man, I almost forgot in discussing Sam
Darnold and what his future looks like that he was
also a jet, like a swort of cod. They've had
so many whiffs and have had so much crap go
on there that that wasn't even that long ago, like
(46:20):
a handful of years ago. He was there number one.
He was like the guy. And since then we've had
Zach Wilson and the Robert Sala experiment and Joe Douglas
and Rogers and like all of these stories and it's like, no,
Woody Johnson's still there. His kids are watching Madden and
(46:41):
scouting the team and the draft based on who's got
the better Madden ratings, and Aaron Rodgers is telling everybody
too many leaks, too many leaks. Guys out the building
forty eight hours and here we go more leagues. But
the conversation goes away from the circus tent that is
the jet and to the future of Aaron Rodgers, because
(47:03):
there are these odds that are out of potential landing
spots for Aaron Rodgers. And there's one that I think
is the bet to make, and then there's one that
I want to happen. The one that I think is
the bet to make is the Tennessee Titans, who are
currently sitting at plus five fifty on DraftKings. Okay, that
(47:25):
is the one that I look at and go that
makes sense because the thought would be you draft Abdul
Carter number one and then you have Rogers be your
bridge quarterback this year. That would be my bet if
you could get it. And sitting at plus five fifty,
and it's actually come down a little bit. It wasn't
(47:45):
plus seven to fifty. So if you bet one hundred dollars,
you'll win. Five hundred and fifty bucks, or if you
bet ten dollars, you'll win fifty five. Whatever your preference is.
Tennessee would be my pick if I'm doing it smartly.
What I want the next landing spot for Rogers to
be is the forty nine Ers who are sitting at
plus four hundred four to one ten bucks. Pay you
(48:08):
out forty because you see that and you go, why
would the Niners do that? They're trying to lock up
Rock pretty long term, true, and DraftKings probably has the
Niners in there because they know what's going to generate
conversation like it's doing right now and like it's done
since these odds came out. But just based on the
history of Rogers in that organization in San Francisco, growing
(48:34):
up a fan of them, them passing on him in
the draft, his history of playing against the Niners all
these years not exactly gone well for him. He potentially
was nearly a Niner if you believe some of the
rumors out there a couple of years ago. And that's
why the Niners panicked afterwards to trade all those picks
(48:54):
away to get Trey Lance in that draft because they
thought they had Rogers then it fell through, like it
would be kind of appropriate based on his history with
the organization if you were to end up in San Francisco,
And if we're just being honest here, if you want
to compare years between him and brock Purty last year,
pretty similar. It's not exactly like you're getting a downgrade
(49:18):
at quarterback if you bring in Rogers. So what I
think the proper bet would be, other than Pittsburgh, who's
the favorite, and the Raiders who are sitting at second,
what I think the bet would be, if I had
to make, it would be on Tennessee. But I would
love the storyline based on his career and his history
if he ends up in San Francisco. Jonas Knox he
(49:38):
or Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox on X
at the Jonas Knox on X, and you can hang
out with us as always on the iHeartRadio app. All right,
So we've got a lot of positive feedback here on
the show, Derek writes in Judas Joff the vomit Bag,
every time you open your COVID infested mouth, go back
(49:59):
tow modeling your needle bleep to Kendrick Lamar's halftime show,
Brian writes in, we need those bleep Philly bleeps to
turn this bleep Jonas into a cadaver like they have
(50:21):
their dump of a skid row city. You bleep. Maddie
writes in, I'd rather take a screwdriver to my ear
than have to suffer three more minutes of Jonas Knox.
I'm about to throw out my radio. What a no
talent hack you ask, clown, wipe your face, you missed
(50:44):
a spot, dip bleep. I did just wipe my face,
by the way, at the Jonas Knocks On X. At
the Jonas Knocks On X and you can hang out
with us again as always on the iHeartRadio app coming
up next here from the tirec dot Com Studios. Somebody
(51:07):
in the NFL has got to know their own reality,
like they have to know. Now we're talking one of
the better players in the league, but based on what
they've seen happen around them, they've got to know they're
never went in a Super Bowl where they're at I'll
tell you who it is next.
Speaker 1 (51:23):
We don't need to bring Jonas in.
Speaker 2 (51:24):
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up a little over
ten minutes from now here from the tire Rack dot
Com studios. Somebody in sports has made a bold decision.
It's actually a very bold approach. They're going to see
something that works and do the complete opposite. So we
(51:47):
will get into that for you here coming up a
little over ten minutes from now here from the tire
Raq dot com studios. So you know, we were talking
earlier about the Eagles' success and one of the things
that you notice about not only that team, that organization,
that fan base, like they don't let you slide at all.
(52:10):
Like it's not one of those like almost militant type
structures in New England where you know Belichick is telling
everybody you know, do your job. You know that this
needs to be done a certain way, et cetera, et cetera.
Like it's it's not like that. It's more of a hey,
appreciate what you did for us, but if you don't
(52:31):
do it again, we're going to have you fired. Oh
Doug Peterson, you want a Super Bowl? Sweet? What have
you done two years later? Okay, bye bye, Like it's
just it's kind of it's unique and their fan base
even when they win Super Bowls, you know, they're punching
police horses and firing off gunshots and hitting their GM
(52:54):
and the forehead with a beer, throwing up over railings
at nine in the morning, you know, eating feces off
the ground, like the whole the whole thing is weird.
Like they've like like that's but whatever it is. They're
one of the more well run, successful organizations in all
of sports. Like they they do a really good job evaluating.
(53:18):
Like Jalen Carter. Jalen Carter falls to them in the
draft because there's questions about his character and it's like, well,
of course the Eagles landed him. Of course, of course,
then what's he done since? But I don't know, turned
out to be maybe one of the better interior defensive
linemen in the league, Like, but of course he would
end up in Philly, Like that's that's how that works,
(53:41):
Like Jalen Hurts, a bunch of people pass on him,
of course, Philly lands him, of course, Like they've now
won a Super Bowl with a backup quarterback and a
guy who was not projected to be a starter in
the NFL. Of course, of course it's Philly. And what
comes along with that is high expectations and if you
don't produce, you're going to have to feel the wrath.
(54:04):
And so I was thinking about this because it's interesting
that you kind of look around the Eagles and you've
got different situations even inside their own division. And one
of the teams that has spoken out publicly since the
win for Philadelphia in the Super Bowl has been members
(54:26):
of the Dallas Cowboys, like Jerry Jones last week in
New Orleans. You know, if I would have known that,
you know, that's why I paid Dak Prescott the money
I did. I expected for us to be here at
the Super Bowl. It's like, oh, okay, okay, Dak Prescott said, hey,
give credit to the Eagles, but we're close. It's like, okay,
Michael Parsons, Hey, you know, it's a call to action.
(54:48):
It's a call to action, you know, to the to
the Cowboys organizations, like all right, right, Like they've got
to know, like Michah Parsons has to know deep down, dude,
I'm never winning a Super Bowl here, like ever, Like
if I stay in Dallas, I'm not winning a Super Bowl.
(55:11):
And I say this as somebody who's been more confident
about the Cowboys than just about anybody. Christ, don't tell
anybody I had them going to the super Bowl. Yeah again,
don't tell anybody. So whatever Jerry Jones was spewing last
year about all in all in, I just assumed they'd
(55:33):
bounce back from an awful playoff performance. They've got all
the talent, I like Mike McCarthy, all that stuff, Like
I just assumed. And that's the problem. A lot of
people have been assuming for the last thirty something years
that Dallas was going to be back in a super
Bowl and they can't even get to the conference championship game.
(55:55):
And I said it this week on this I'm done.
I am I'm picking the Cowboys and I've officially moved
on from ever expecting to see them win a super
Bowl in the near future. It's not happening. I know
I'm late to the party, but I'm there at least.
It's not happening. And I think they are further away
(56:17):
from being legitimate contenders now than they've been in years.
And I've brought this up before, and every year that
goes by, I still remember, and the reality is their
window and their best chance to win a Super Bowl
closed in twenty sixteen, when Dak Prescott was a rookie.
(56:44):
Zeke was a rookie they were either the favorite to
win the super Bowl going into the playoffs, or they
were the second favorite to win the super Bowl going
into the playoffs. They were favored at home against the
Packers in the Visional Round and Aaron Rodgers made two
(57:04):
incredible throws Mason Crossmey banged in like two fifty plus yarders,
and Green Bay upset Dallas and went onto the NFC
Title Game. That right there was their best chance to
get to a super Bowl gone. And so when I
(57:25):
hear like Micah Parsons saying like, oh, to call to
action to the organization, he's got to be looking around
and going, dude, our window may have closed, like you, like,
there was a spot there recently where they could have
taken the reins in that division. Washington was awful. The
(57:47):
Giants couldn't figure it out, and Philly was like, oh,
we're not sure, like we hire this guy and yeah,
I mean we got to it, but he could be.
And now you've got the defending Super Bowl champion in
your division. You've got a team who was playing for
the right to go to a super Bowl in your division,
(58:09):
and the Giants. You look at it and you go, Okay, well,
if they can find a quarterback. Like this is a
team who was just in the playoffs a couple of
years ago too, I mean thankfully. You know, they coughed
up Saquon Barkley ended up in Philly and all. But like,
if you're the Cowboys, and if you're a Cowboy fan,
you got to be looking around going, dude, it's over.
(58:32):
Like it's over. And I say this as somebody who
has bought into whatever Jerry Jones has sold for years now,
because I love Jerry Jones. He's great, he's great for
the league, a Hall of Famer and deserves it. And
for years he's like that telemarketer who talks you into
(58:52):
the purchase when like you're not even like no, like
they tell you that about in sales. They're like whatever
it is like always have Like if they tell you no,
give them a reason for yes, I can't afford it.
Do you have a credit card? Yeah, all right, we'll
put it on the credit card. I don't know. That's
(59:13):
a lot of money. Yeah, but you make monthly payments,
pay the minimum, you're fine. I don't know. I don't
know how that's gonna last long term. Well, who cares
out last long term. What's the value of this gonna
look like at the end, it's gonna far exceed whatever
you paid in your month. Like they just tell you, like, hey,
whatever they can come with that for a reason for no,
find a reason for yes, Like go through the list
(59:36):
of reasons why they've got to have And Jerry Jones
has sold me and I've bought it every single year,
every year. And now you're going into this offseason, you're like,
all right, well, the salary CAP's not great. Dak Prescott's
coming off another injury. They haven't figured out the running
back position. Micah Parsons is coming off an injury. They've
(59:58):
got a brand new coach who's ever been a coach,
but he just so happens to be the offensive coordinator
from last year, but he didn't call plays. And this
is all happening because you couldn't get a deal done
in time with your current former head coach, Mike McCarthy.
So you let that slide and then you realize, no,
we do want to maintain him and retain him. And
then all of a sudden he went elsewhere. But by
(01:00:19):
the time that decision was made, then you lost out
on all the other top candidates that were out there,
like Rabel and Ben Jon Like, dude, if you're one
of those players, like if you're dak if you're Micah Parsons,
you got to be looking around going all right, So
here's the reality of my situation. If I'm a Dallas cowboy, like,
you're gonna get really famous. You're probably going to be
(01:00:44):
a Hall of Famer if you continue in the path
you're heading, and you're never really ever going to compete
for a Super Bowl, but afterwards, you're gonna end up
being a top broadcaster in the business. Like that's where
we're at with the cowboys, Like you cannot take them
serious anymore. Many people have been telling me this for years.
I'm late to the party, but at least I'm here.
(01:01:06):
I'm done not happening again. I'm not falling for it.
I'm not taking the bait. And I say all this
in February because something tells me in August, Jerry's going
to do it to me again. Jonas knocks here Fox
Sports Radio, at the Jonas Knocks on X at the
Jonas Knocks On X and you can hang out with
us as always on the iHeartRadio app. Right, it's coming
up next here from the tiraq dot com studios. There's
(01:01:27):
a team that's making a really really interesting decision. It's
a bold approach. They see that something works and they're
doing the opposite. We'll tell you who that team is
next here on FSR. But for all the latest from
around the world the sports he as far and wise.
Speaker 6 (01:01:45):
Two games going right now in top twenty five men's
college basketball, six strength Houston and thirteenth ranked Arizona. The
Wildcats with a forty four to forty one lead all
right now with ten minutes left in the game.
Speaker 1 (01:01:59):
With seven forty five I've left in the first half.
Speaker 6 (01:02:01):
Between twelfth ranked Texas Tech and Oklahoma State, Texas Tech
is a twenty three.
Speaker 1 (01:02:05):
To sixteen lead.
Speaker 6 (01:02:07):
Earlier today we saw eighth rank Texas A and M
beat Arkansas sixty nine to sixty one. Coach Cayle so
far at Arkansas four and eight and SEC played Texas
A and M.
Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
Nine and three, eighth ranked team in the nation.
Speaker 6 (01:02:20):
Twenty third rank Clemson beat Florida State seventy two to
forty six. Fifth ranked Tennessee beat Vanderbilts eighty one to
seventy six. Here, excuse me and sixteen, third Wisconsin upset
seventh Ranks per Due at home ninety four to eighty four,
and the NFL You saw Saints set to interview Derante
(01:02:41):
Jones to their defensive coordinator position. Jones is a defensive
backs coach and the passing game coordinator for the Vikings
Falcons defensive I mean sorry, Falcons tight end coach. Kevin
Coger declined an opportunity to interview for that same coaching staff,
but for the offensive coordinator position in New Orleans. Coger
did interview for the oc jobs in Cleveland and Dallas
this offseason. NBA and it's All Star weekend activity spurs
(01:03:05):
Guards to farm Castle when the Rising Stars game MVP
last night. Castle will also be in the Slam Dunk
Contest tonight, and because they won Friday, his team from
the Rising Stars competition will play in Sunday's All starf activities.
That makes him the first player to participate in all
three All Star days of the weekend since Blake Griffin
(01:03:25):
in two thousand and eleven. Damian Lillard also going for
his third straight three point contests win tonight and then
the four Nations face off with seven minutes and forty
second slept In the third period, Finland and.
Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
Sweden tied at three apiece. Jonas back to.
Speaker 2 (01:03:43):
You, Thank you Martin. By the way, Martin, I have
a question for you. We Torey, you are a New
Orleans Saints fan? Correct?
Speaker 1 (01:03:49):
That is true?
Speaker 4 (01:03:50):
All right?
Speaker 2 (01:03:51):
Am I misreading it? Or does it feel like there's no.
Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
Hope with that organization right now?
Speaker 6 (01:03:55):
You're not misreading it one bit? Jonas, there's there's a yeah,
there's it's just despair.
Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
Like because I was telling somebody when we were in
New Orleans for the Super Bowl, you wouldn't know that
there's an NFL team that plays in that city, Like
you couldn't like there wasn't Saints stuff around. There might
have been a flag on the side of a building,
but there wasn't merchant Everything was Marty grot Out, everything
was Hey, we opened the roll out the red carpet
for the Eagles and the Chiefs get to the airport.
(01:04:24):
No Saints merchandise to be bought, like it just it
feels like and when Mickey Loomis comes out and says, well,
it took us so long to hire our head coach
because the Eagles kept winning playoff games. It's like I
thought you wanted Cliff Kingsbury. Mike McCarthy was a potential.
Then there was a weather delay which delayed the other
interviews that you could have. It just feels like there's
not a lot of optimism for the organization.
Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
Well, I would say that.
Speaker 6 (01:04:48):
I think the merchandise situation had much more to do
with the location where you were in and the you know,
Marty grew up. Plus Super Bowl that's a lot of
tourist dollars to buy.
Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
It was like you weren't buying a cam Jordan Jersey,
were you.
Speaker 6 (01:05:03):
You know, if you're down there, you're gonna buy whatever
Marty gralmerch or Super Bowl merch.
Speaker 1 (01:05:07):
So I think that has more to do with that.
But the bigger problem is what you just said. Mickey Loomis,
you can stop there. He's been there.
Speaker 6 (01:05:15):
I remember Jonas reading the Times Picky youwn in two
thousand and two and Mickey Loomis was the gym. You know,
he's gonna die as the gym the New Orleans Saints
and as a result, the New Orleans Saints franchise unless
they get lucky strike lightning again with the head coach
and quarterback combination like Drew Brees and Sean Payton. They're
destined to do what all of their bad teams doing
(01:05:37):
that stink and guess what, they didn't do it this
time either, Kellen Moore and David Carr.
Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
If that's the answer, you're asking the wrong questions.
Speaker 2 (01:05:45):
Well, listen, I mean, you know, do you feel better
though that you got it off your chest a little bit? Though? No?
Speaker 8 (01:05:50):
Well no, I you know what I want to I
don't know why I didn't get the job. I thought
Mike McCarthy would have been a good save face. This
is an organization that needs to rebuild the foundation. Carthy's
a foundational guy.
Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
And he was like, no, I'll just go ahead and
take a year off, Okay, Like yeah, it's just like
I see and I go, Man, there just doesn't feel
like there's a lot of optimism.
Speaker 7 (01:06:10):
You think Mike McCarthy just really wanted the Bear's job.
Speaker 2 (01:06:13):
Probably, I mean probably like that that was probably his
top choice. And then he was like, well, you know,
I'll just sit this year out.
Speaker 7 (01:06:21):
He thought the Bears were going to mess it up
in irm Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
Guess you know, hey, listen, that's what they do. They
figure out a way to screw things up, so that
remains to be seen. Thank you, Martin. It is Jonas
Knox here on Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox
at X. We're going to close up shop with a
look back on our Knox Locks following Super Bowl fifty nine.
And we've got the scraps as well too. Things in
(01:06:44):
the world of sports and beyond we have not had
a chance to get to on the show. That'll be
yours here again ten minutes from now from the tiraq
dot com studio. So this is always an interesting choice
to make. If you see somebody do it the right way,
I mean, like in a way that they're having a
level of success that nobody else is having, and you decide,
(01:07:04):
you know what, I'm gonna go ahead and do it differently.
It's like sitting down with your financial advisor. He tells
you everything that he did to amass all the wealth
and properties and things that he has, and then you're like, naw,
I'm gonna go out and blow my whole paycheck. I
mean yeah, I mean, listen, all respect, I love what
(01:07:25):
you do, but I'm just gonna go ahead and do
my own thing. Okay, all right, here's what you do
to get in shape. Nah, I'm gonna guzzle twinkies and
not exercise at all. Yeah, I'll take my chances. Okay,
good move. That's what's happening in the world of sports.
(01:07:48):
You heard Joe Burrow mention this. Right. He talked about, Hey,
you know Philly and the Eagles, they seem to figure
out the salary cap situation and you know, like they
somehow have mastered it and all that, and he's right,
and they have success. So it's more, you know, he's
calling out the organization in Cincinnati and saying, hey, let's
do that, like and he's right. Totally makes sense. Well,
(01:08:11):
in baseball, the LA Dodgers have let you know, if
you want to compete and if you want to sign
just about everybody, and if you want to not miss
in an entire off season after you just won a title,
this is how you do it. You defer money, you
push it towards later on down the road, and this
(01:08:34):
is how you can get everybody to sign agreed to deals.
And this is how this stuff works. Yes, we've created
an environment that people want to be a part of
because of how well we run our organization. But there's
also a strategy to this, and it works. It's literally
the only time that you can think of a team
(01:08:56):
going into the off season normally, if like your favorite team,
whatever sport it is, NFL, major League Baseball, NBA, you
have like different things that you want going into the offseason.
You go, man, you know, we gotta you know, we
need to fix the offensive line or you know, we
need to get a you know, a better point guard.
We got it. We got to get our perimeter shooting's
got to be better. Uh, you know, we've really got
(01:09:17):
to address our pitching staff or our bullpen like whatever
it is. And usually you'll get fifty to seventy five
percent of that fix and it's like, yeah, you know,
we could have could have really used another offensive lineman,
but love what we did at receiver. It's like okay,
like all right. The Dodgers literally did everything they wanted
(01:09:39):
and then some, and they're the team that just won
a title, which is what makes this next part of
this story hilarious. So, according to reports, the reason that
the Chicago Cubs lost out on Alex Bregman and Tanner
Scott too like top free agents on the market, one
(01:10:00):
to Boston The other to the Dodgers is because of
their refusal to defer money. They don't want to do that.
They're just not that's not that's not what we're gonna do,
even though it works, even though teams that are having
success do it, most notably the one that just won
a World Series and has put together one of the
great rosters that we've ever seen. Even though that's like
(01:10:24):
part of how they do it, the Cubs are like, no,
we're not going to defer money. No, no, no, no,
that's not like we listen, we know like that works.
We're just not going to do it. Like if the
Bengals decide to not, you know, adjust and make any
of these moves to try and maintain and retain some
(01:10:45):
of their free agents or top players, they're basically saying that, yeah,
we know that Philly does it this way and all that,
and that's cool in all We're just not going to
do it. Like we know that it works. We just
mean are not interested, all right, okay. And it just
goes to show you that there are teams in sports
that are trying to win, and then there are teams
(01:11:08):
in sports that are trying to make money first, and
then if the wins come, they come, whatever. And so
when you see organizations maintain their aggressiveness after winning a
World Series or a Super Bowl or an NBA title,
and they maintain and they keep their foot on the gas,
(01:11:29):
and you're a fan of that team and that franchise,
you should revel in that and appreciate it because the
norm is like what the Cubs are doing where they go, yeah,
we know it could cost a little bit more down
the road, but then we're gonna play it safe. We're
gonna sell hope, and most importantly, we're gonna sell our stadium.
(01:11:53):
And as long as we're making money. We already won
a World Series like a decade ago, Like who cares
about that? And they listen well off that bridge when
we get to the one hundred year mark like we
did before. And it just tells you that there are
some organizations, not just in baseball, not just in the NFL,
in the but there are some organizations all over the
(01:12:14):
place that are trying to win and others that are
just trying to make money. And this is clearly the
case in Chicago. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at
the Jonas Knox on X coming up next here, we
are going to close up shop with another edition of
the Scraps, plus a look back at the playoff recap
of Knox Locks. That'll be yours right here on FSR

out the podcast. Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you

review it again. Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you
get your podcasts. You'll see this show posted right after
(01:13:20):
we get off the air, So a look back quickly
on Knox Locks. No need for imaging. Who cares about
all that because it played out much like the way
the regular season played out. We finished strong, loved Philly
going into last week. Love the Eagles in that spot
and you're getting a point and a half, didn't matter,
didn't need it. Philly blows them out. So we finish
(01:13:43):
off the playoffs five six and two. Regular season overall
twenty eight twenty four and two. So four games over
in the regular season, one game under in the playoffs.
And if we're being honest here, I know you're gonna
look at that and say, well, it's five six and two,
But that's just a lazy surface evaluation of how the
playoffs win. We got burned a couple of different times,
(01:14:06):
okay two in particular, which led to our two pushes
where matt Riza ran out of the back of the
end zone in that game against Houston. All right, like
we had that in the bag. We got it at
Chiefs minus nine, and because he ran out and took
an intentional safety, we shouldn't be held accountable for that.
That should be a win. The other one was what
(01:14:30):
happened between the Eagles and the Rams to where we
had Philly minus six, Jake Elliott missed an extra point,
Philly's defense decided to just start leaking towards the end
and it cost us. So that was also a push.
So the reality is that five six and two really
should be seven and six. So we can get caught
(01:14:54):
up in the weeds here. All we want facts are facts.
That's a seven and six record for the play a
game over five hundred. But because we're adults, because we
have class and integrity and Knox Locks, we'll go ahead
and we'll take our punishment. We'll sit with five six
and two. But the real story is about how we
got burned on those two pushes. And also, don't forget
(01:15:15):
that we did finish four games over five hundred for
the regular season, so we put knox Locks to bed
until next year. And now it's time for the return
of this.
Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
Jis moron. How could you not get to these stories?
Speaker 4 (01:15:30):
Morons?
Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
These are the scraps, And for that we turn it
over to our executive producer, Bo Benzon to find out
what the hell we've missed so far on the show.
Speaker 4 (01:15:38):
Bo.
Speaker 7 (01:15:38):
Yeah, before we get into this, I do want to
take a moment to pat myself on the back for
my thirty seven to twenty fours core prediction for the
Super Bowl. All good, calm, Yeah, No, I don't like
to be ghosh. I don't want to pick the Eagles
to win. Ever, but I just felt going into that
game that it had more of a chance to be
like Seahawks Broncos than any other game. And I was right,
(01:15:59):
was right?
Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
Did you do a Super Bowl squares? Bo?
Speaker 1 (01:16:02):
I do love this ship?
Speaker 7 (01:16:03):
And my dad did? I think my dad made some money.
Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
And so I was.
Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
Trying to my buddy lives one street over. He's also
an alcoholic, and so he's really I'm not making that up.
So's it's really hard to try and pin him down.
And he was saying, Hey, we're having Super Bowl squares.
I was like, all right, what you know, what are
we looking at? Like I'd love to buy some Never
heard back from him, and then he responds a day
later and says, oh yeah, sorry man. It's like, hey, dude,
(01:16:30):
like we were we were having conversations well in advance
of the Super Bowl. Did you just lose your phone
for a day?
Speaker 4 (01:16:38):
Like?
Speaker 2 (01:16:38):
Is it like it? Like what if I would have said, hey,
bringing by beer? Guaranteed he would have responded. It's like
he would have facetimed to track me on the walk over.
Speaker 7 (01:16:48):
But how you get lead a lap to respond to questions?
Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
Yeah, you don't even dance, especially when you're not in
New Orleans. Boy, but you don't even know half the story.
You don't even know half the story and what that
night was fu Lee.
Speaker 1 (01:17:00):
Do we actually have a location on Lee right now?
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
No, as long as it's not a cemetery, that's all
I care about.
Speaker 7 (01:17:07):
And that's I had heard about his Valentine plans just wolf.
Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
Yeah, No, it's yeah, not not great. But you know what,
there's always next year. So maybe we'll get involved in
some Super Bowl squares next year. You know what will
we got today?
Speaker 1 (01:17:19):
You know it is great.
Speaker 7 (01:17:20):
Shoeo Tani threw his first bullprint in the spring this morning.
He threw about fourteen pitches, reached ninety three to ninety
four miles an hour. So he's on his way back
to the mouth.
Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
You know, I was thinking about this. It's actually kind
of wild because I was filling in this week on
the Blowtorch and five seventy LA Sports for Rodney pet
along with Fred Rogan, and we were just kind of
talking about Otwani potentially returning to the mound and starting
to throw off the mound at spring training. This is
how talented the Dodgers are. Their dh would be the
(01:17:53):
number one starter on like twelve to fifteen teams in
Major League Baseball.
Speaker 7 (01:17:57):
Yeah, at least.
Speaker 2 (01:17:59):
He's their So the Dodgers designated hitter would be the
number one starter on half the teams in Major League Baseball.
But I vote you're you. I don't think you totally
understand how good this team is. Like, I don't think
because you're not a fan of anybody else in baseball
(01:18:21):
as somebody who is, I can assure you this is
not normal.
Speaker 7 (01:18:24):
No, absolutely not. I still I think their win total
is like one twelve or something like that. Last time
I look, one oh three and a half is yeah,
I that's an easy over. They're gonna win one hundred
games by July.
Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
Like, oh yeah, it's listen, Like that's why you know
the threat of you know, I think it's one sixteen
is the all time record. One hundred and sixteen wins
was the Mariners record. Like if any team was gonna
do it, it feels like it would be the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (01:18:51):
Yeah, real quick.
Speaker 7 (01:18:53):
Canada's Cale mccarr is not gonna He's gonna be a
game time decision tonight against the United States and the
four Nations faceoff, So that accordingly for that one.
Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
Well, look it's a weekend of non football, so you're
going to get the Four Nations face off. You've got
whatever the NBA All Star Game is, you got the
Daytona five hundred. This is why you gotta start gambling,
so you have a vested interest in all this stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:19:18):
Shonas the son of a bitch.
