Speaker 1 (00:00):
I have she stopped from Jonas Knocks. You thought you
knew me. You didn't know a thing about me. He's
crazier than else. Wrecked that guy, Jonas Knocks.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
You heard me, prad, Some darkness is lighting up your
speakers to establish an alibi for the day. From the
tirag dot com Fox Sports Radio Studios, here's Jonas Knox.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
YEP.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
So okay, I'll be part of this world.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
You know. I mean, let the lesson be learned here
from everybody involved. You can't argue with stupid, especially in
the world of football. We'll get into that coming up
here in just a couple of moments. From now, Jonas Knox,
Fox Sports Radio. You can listen to us here on
the iHeartRadio app. You can find us on hundreds of
(01:06):
affiliates all across the country and wherever you are, making
us a part of your Saturday morning into the afternoon.
Welcome to November, Welcome to November Football, and welcome into
this two hour extravaganza here live from the tire iraq
dot com. Don Leostaire rack dot com will help you
get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free roadhasard
(01:27):
protection and over ten thousand recommended installers tire raq dot
com the way tire buying should be, so you can
kind of feel it whether it's getting a little bit
colder in all parts of the country. You know, it's
not quite at the point to where it's really uncomfortable.
But you're watching the game of the day and it's
Ohio State and Penn State and they're there in Happy
(01:48):
Valley and it's a capacity crowd. One hundred plus thousand
people are there. You've got top four matchup in the
world of college football. It's everything you could possibly want
on Fox when it comes to college football, all right,
You've got really good plays being made. There was just
an interception in the end zone by Ohio State. It
(02:09):
looked like Penn State was going to either take a
lead or close the lead there, and instead Ohio State
came up with an amazing interception in the corner of
the end zones and they'll get the ball to start
the second half, and you're looking at it, going, man,
this game's got everything you could possibly want, no complaints whatsoever.
James Franklin's arguing about some holding down the field by DBS,
(02:29):
and he's probably got a point there, but you're looking
at it going this game's got everything you could possibly want,
including stupidity. Like, I mean, it's tremendous everything you want. Yeah,
can we get a side of stupidity? Oh, don't worry
about it, We got that too. Welcome to the game
(02:51):
of the day in college football. You want to know
what stupidity is the fact that we still got this
same tired argument happening. And it's so easy to fix.
It's so easy, Like I've got to know. I don't know,
but for some reason, people think it makes sense that
if you have possession of the football but you fumble
(03:13):
it out of the other team's end zone, that not
only do you lose the ball, they get twenty yards.
They didn't recover it like they did nothing, Like you
felt like they may have forced the fumble, but it
hits off Will Howard's knee goes out of their end zone. Otherwise,
this game is a lot worse looking for Penn State
than it currently is. It's the worst and it's the
(03:35):
same argument we have all the time. And I got
me to thinking while watching the play. You know, it
would be a great lawyer, like and I've met some
people that work in law but like I actually think
the best lawyer to be created, Like if you had
to create a lawyer, Like, if you're at a law firm
(03:56):
right now, you're probably not it's a Saturday. But if
you're who, they're scumback all over the place. So if
you're in a law firm and uh and you're you know,
looking around, going, you know, God, we got to recruit
some better staff here, Like we need like somebody who's
like a real up and coming talent. You know, you
should find you should find somebody who's dumb, like I
swear to God, because they're always the most difficult people
(04:20):
to argue with. You can't get through to them. Like
if you find somebody who's stupid, they have no sense
of like you know what, You're right, you know, on
second thought, and you know now that I'm actually like,
you know, wrapping my mind around this. You're right. You
(04:41):
make a great point, my belief, my thought, my opinion
going into this discussion. No no, no, I'm not gonna
hold it hostage. You make a better point. You are right.
Stupid people don't do that. They just continue down the
same No no, no, no, no, no, no, don't want to hear it.
Okay about like new information that makes more sense?
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Nope?
Speaker 1 (05:02):
Okay, what about like logical thought and like information that
makes more sense? Nope? Okay, what about the fact that
your point of view on this doesn't make sense? Nope,
don't want to hear it. I you can't argue with dumb.
They'd make the greatest lawyer of art of all time.
You literally can't argue with stupid. And I'm at the
(05:24):
point now to where I watch these plays and it
happens a handful of times every year in football to
where you fumble the ball out of the end zone,
the other team doesn't recover, and not only do you
lose the football, you reward them twenty yards for it.
(05:44):
I don't get it, Like it doesn't make any sense.
And like the old what I hear from people is like, well,
you know, you've got to treat the end zone like
it's special, fair and guess what you do, you fumble
the ball out of the end zone, you lose twenty yards. No,
seems kind of punitive. I mean, like a personal foul
(06:04):
penalty is what fifteen yards? Like? If we want to
create that the end zone is special and you need
to protect the football there, totally understand, totally reasonable. How's
a twenty yard penalty that's pretty punitive, right, Like that's
that would be the largest outside of past interference in
a spot foul in the NFL, that would be the largest.
That would make the most sense if we want to
(06:25):
find a middle ground. But no, And it's like the
people that create this stuff are just dumb and it
doesn't get changed. I remember having a conversation with Mike
Pereira on the air saying, Hey, Mike, does this ever
get looked at or talked about in the off season
like NFL college? He goes, yeah, and like he couldn't
figure it out, and he's as good at this as
(06:47):
anybody could figure it out. Like I mean, I don't know,
but we want to, like, well, you know, we're going
to emphasize like whether or not, you know, the tackle
is on the line of scrimmage, whether or not hands
to the face is the call? I mean, Christ, they
even looked at PI penalty like pastor firits penalties were
(07:08):
getting reviewed one year. Is the whole leagu's bizarre? Like
you literally can't argue with stupid, and yet stupid pops
up again like whack the mole and says, can't hit me.
I'm dumbproof. I don't have to tell you. Makes no sense.
But yet again, here we go one of the dumbest rules,
(07:29):
actually the dumbest rule in sports. Then it pops up
yet again, Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio. Fun game, though,
great game. Ohio State's got the ball at midfield to
start the second half, looking to drive and add on
to the lead here that they probably should have already
had extended if not for that dumb rule. But nonetheless,
fourteen ten Ohio State leads Penn State there in State College.
(07:52):
Second half just underway there, So we'll keep you updated
on that throughout the course of the game. Here on
the show, we want to also talk about this because
I want to tell you that I'm accountable. I am
accountable for something that in hindsight makes all the sense
in the world, but before the year, for some reason,
in my mind, didn't make any sense whatsoever. So for
(08:15):
this we're going to add a little color to it.
All right, So let's take a listen to a man
who is fresh off a wild couple of weeks in
sports radio. One week, he's telling everybody they're going to
get fired. The next week, he's telling everybody, oh, well,
you know, listen, whatever, you know, We're just everything's fine.
(08:36):
And then the following week he's trying to make sense
of the fact that his team is struggling. Take it Away.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on the fan in Dallas.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
I think we're having a rougher go than I anticipated.
Let's put it like that. Okay, so there's a couple
that with just those two. Yeah, let's but having me
in the in the loop needs to be there. It is,
And I did not anticipate the challenges that we're having
with this team. But I am reminded of teams that
(09:10):
I've seen that have had a lot of success and
put themselves in a position to take a shot, and
they were three in four.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
So let me ask you a question. All right, let's
just think about this. If you feel like crap, sick, injured, whatever,
and you do nothing to address the illness or the injury,
(09:41):
how can you possibly expect to feel better the next day?
Right now, knowing this audience, let's talk in terms that
we can all relate to. You're hungover the very next day,
you do no nothing about it, You don't drink water.
(10:04):
You don't drink like any of those like element electrolytes, element,
you know, whatever they're called. Like, you don't like. You
do nothing, You don't eat, you do nothing. You wake
up as is, You don't even brush your teeth. Like
it smells like five bums barfed in your mouth. You
do nothing about it. Do you think by about four
(10:27):
or five o'clock that same day you're just gonna feel better?
Probably not, Probably been something you should have addressed. Did
Jerry Jones think in an off season where they did
nothing to improve the roster at all, following a clown
(10:47):
job that they got served up by the Packers at
home in a playoff game, did he expect that there
was going to be some different result to this year?
Where did they get better in the off season? Like
anybody answered, like, where did they get better?
Speaker 3 (11:02):
They didn't.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
And I'm not sitting here trying to be like, oh,
Hindsight's twenty trust me full disclosure, Jerry, I was a
lot more optimistic about the Cowboys than some people, so
much so that rumor has it I might have had
them in the super Bowl. Okay, all right, So I
want to be clear about this, all right, I want
to be clear, so I should be held accountable, and
(11:26):
I totally am, Like I did not see it in
real time, So this is not me trying to take
shots at Jerry Jones or anybody that was optimistic about
the Cowboys or Cowboy fans or anything. Not at all.
Trust me, I'm with you, like we are all going
down together. It's the Titanic and we're all playing an
instrument right now. But Jesus, like, I mean, at some
(11:51):
point you would think, like, hey, probably should do something
to like improve things around here, like outside of research,
which these are important moves, but outside of re signing
current players that just so happened to be on the
field when you got served up that clown job by
the packers at home in a playoff, Like outside of that,
(12:13):
what did they do? Like? Literally nothing? So when you're
looking around scratching your head like got I thought it'd
be so much different than this, it's like, hold on
a second. You went out boozing all day the day before.
You started at noon with a couple of margaritas and
(12:35):
some lunch. Then by about three o'clock you slammed a
cold brew and you said, you know what, let's go
to Happy Hour. You ate wings and crushed beers until seven,
and then once it hit seven o'clock and the price
is jumped up a dollar twenty five, you bailed on
the tab and then you decided, you know what, let's
go shoot pool and then go to a strip club.
(12:57):
But we're getting kind of tired, so why don't we
mix and hard booze. You did all that until two
three o'clock. You came home after eating fast food from someplace.
You woke up the next day and you did nothing
about it. No water, no food, no shower, no mouthwash. Nothing.
Do you think by three four o'clock anything's gonna change? No,
(13:21):
Jerry Jones, Dude, it's three or four o'clock in the afternoon.
You've done nothing to address the hangover. What the hell
do you expect to feel like at this point in
the season. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the
Jonas Knocks on X at the Jonas Knocks on X,
and you can hang out with us as always on
the iHeartRadio app. All right, so we're gonna have the
(13:43):
usuals coming up later on. We do have an award
to hand out here. It's our TGFG Game of the week. Well,
that'll be coming up here later on this hour. We're
also gonna have an other edition of do You Care
Nothing But Positive Energy on this show as we give
you brutal truths about everything that you've heard over the
last several days in sports. We've got some Knox locks,
We've got some really positive tweets to get to. It's
(14:04):
all yours here as we take you all the way
up again until four pm Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific.
But there's somebody in the NFL that people have a
problem with, and I'm going to tell you why that
somebody should tell everybody that's got a problem with them
to go screw off. It's their turn to be the bully.
(14:26):
That's next. Jonas is counted today Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio.
We are going to get into this conversation about somebody
who shouldn't feel guilty at all whatsoever about the reputation
that they've picked up earlier this season. So we'll get
into that for you again here coming up just a
couple of moments from now update around the world of
(14:46):
college football. You'll get a more detailed report from and
by the way, we'll just be honest here a better
report from Martin Weiss coming up here shortly. But Ohio
State Penn State. Penn State has just converted on a
field goal try from forty four yards, So Ohio State
has a seventeen to thirteen lead over Penn State five
minutes left to go there in the third quarter. That
(15:08):
game on Fox, and we've got an upset brewing a
little bit, although if you listen you talk to enough people,
this was kind of a sneaky game to watch out for.
But number five Miami, who was undefeated, is trailing Duke
twenty eight seventeen, nine minutes to go there in the
third quarter, so we will keep you posts on that. Also,
(15:29):
Minnesota has a lead over Illinois as well, to sixteen
to ten, four and a half minutes to go in
the third. That game is on FS one. So that
is your update around the world of college football. And
now we will transition over here smoothly to something to
where I hear this stuff and I think to myself,
you gotta be kidding me, Like you gotta be kidding me.
(15:53):
So Xavier McKinney, who is a defensive back for the
Green Bay Packers, right say, think you know they got
a big game coming up this weekend. Now we don't
know whether or not Jordan Love is going to play
yet is questionable. Like, look my mind, and I know
it's a big game, and it's a division game. You've
got a bye week next week, and you've got another
(16:16):
buye after that because you play the Bears. If I'm
the Packers, I'm not risking Jordan Love. There might be
some weather issues, there might be Like I look, Malik
Willis has played well. I know it's a big game,
but I'm not risking injuring or doing further damage to
Jordan Love in this spot with so much time left
(16:37):
in the season. That's me personally, all right. But maybe
he's better off than they reported. I know. Matt Lafleur's
assessment of the injury after the game last week was
kind of I mean, it made it seem like it
was a lot worse than it turned out to be. Nonetheless,
we'll get to see whether or not Jordan Love is
going to give it a go tomorrow for the Green
Bay Packers. But Xavier McKinney, the defensive back for Green
(17:01):
he spoke about the Detroit Lions, and apparently the Detroit
Lions their opponent on Sunday. Apparently they've got a little
bit of a reputation. Bruin. Let's take a listen. I
think they try to embarrass people.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
I think, you know, this organization and the players we
have in here, they don't really take that, you know, lightly,
and we know you know that that's what they're gonna
come here and try to do. So, you know, our
job is to, like I said again, make sure that
we're on our keys and make sure that you know,
everybody has discipline eyes and still you know, going out
there and playing fast. But we know that's you know,
(17:35):
that's the game that they like to get into. And
so for us, we just got to, you know, do
what we do and we'll be at so.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Xavier McKinney of the Packers says, the Lions try and
embarrass people, Right, That's rich considering people have made a
living in this business and around the league for what
thirty forty embarrassing the Lions. They've been the punchline and
(18:06):
the laughing stock of the league for decades. And now
that they've turned things around and figured it out, now
the law offices of Bitch and Moan have arrived to
say that's not right. No, No, you try and embarrass teams,
(18:28):
that's not okay. Why because they were doing hooking ladders
with offensive linemen in the Cowboys game late with the
game out of reach, they're supposed to feel bad. They've
been getting bullied and razzed on and had their balls
broken for decades by everybody. I've made my jokes. Any
(18:53):
other host on this network and others has all made
their jokes. People have made a career and a living
out of the Lions being the laughingstock and the punchline
of the world of football. They've done it for years
and years and years, and now the Lions get their
chance to get a little bit of revenge. And now
(19:14):
everybody is crying and complaining because what they're running up
the score, because what they're trying to embarrass teams. It's
like Sean Payton talking about the Panthers complaining that they
were running up the score. Hold on a second, Denver's
been bad for a while. Now Sean Payton's trying to
turn that thing around, and so he's trying to establish
(19:36):
a culture there and let everybody know, listen, there's no
prisoners here. We are establishing who we are, and I'm
sorry that the Carolina Panthers couldn't hold up their end
of the bargain and make it a competitive game. So
he was running some plays out there, tough balls. You
got a problem in Carolina. Take it up with your
(19:56):
terrible owner. So the Lions are supposed to feel bad. No,
let me tell you what the Lions are doing. The
Lions are not playing with their food. There is no
messing around. They might have Hey took their foot off
the gas a little bit against Tampa Bay. You know
if they've done after that, beat everybody's ass and made
(20:17):
an example of everybody that they've gone up against. I
don't care who it is, Dallas whoever. Like they were
in a competitive game against Minnesota. Guess what they won
that game. They shouldn't feel the least bit bad at all.
They couldn't do anything right, nothing, winless season, bad head
coaching hires, draft picks, that everybody made fun of Matt
(20:40):
Millen's tenure, that everybody made fun of. Dan Campbell came
in and people were like, okay, dude, two large coffees
and four espresso shots. Okay, where's a racing helmet? Biting
kneecaps everybody took pot shots. Everybody buried that team every
step of the way. And now they start taking some
steps and they start getting legitimate again, and all of
(21:02):
a sudden, people got a problem. When Jared Goff was
traded to the Lions, you know what the conversation was, Yeah,
maybe I want and done, but yeah, clearly he's just
kind of a stopgap to kind of you know, let
everybody know that, like, hey, we're not serious about this
whole thing. The real winner of the trade was Matt Stafford.
Hold on a second, let's have that discussion. Now he
(21:25):
might be the MVP of the league, playing the best
football of his career. Did you want them to just
strike out on draft picks all the time? Did you
want them to just be the bludgeoning tool of everybody
in the end, Hey, you know what we got to
hammer out. Let's go pound on somebody here. Oh it's
the Lions. It's the easy, it's the go to. No,
(21:45):
you know what the Lions did. They've exposed everybody's lazy
take and lazy area in this business and lazy areas
in football. Oh that's not fair. They were supposed to
be terrible forever. No, Oh, kiss our ass. We're taking
skulls home here like this is no longer nice guy
(22:09):
doormat Lions. No no, no, no, no, it's over. You had
your jokes, you took your shots, you had decades of material.
Now we get ours. I don't blame them. I hope
they run up the score on everybody the rest of
the way. I hope they clown people. I hope Dan
Campbell checks in and runs a hooking ladder. I couldn't
(22:30):
care less. They've earned this, They've taken their beatings, and
now they're handing them out. Let's go live to our
I have a thought on the Lions insider Chris Prophet
for the latest Chris.
Speaker 6 (22:42):
Besides the whole running up the score thing, which is ridiculous,
especially when you know Tennessee is spotting them twenty five
yards to their own goal line, the reason why they're
running trick plaze is because though trick plays are working,
they're not just like one off desperation things. They're part
of their strategy to actually score touchdowns. Yeah literally touching
(23:03):
you sleeping.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Look.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
I don't care like if they're working or and I
hope they all fail and they keep doing them like
I'm so tired of this, like no, no, We've got
to have something to go back on. And it's all
the same people that are probably just waiting or hoping
they're going to lose a game. Like when Dan Campbell
made those decisions in the NFC title game, there was
a lot of people like, same old Lions. Well not really,
(23:27):
They're in an NFC title game and they probably should
have won it.
Speaker 6 (23:29):
You not really, You know, it kept embarrassing the Lions
for so long as Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay
Packers every time they'd put forty up on the Lions.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
I just like this whole thing is pure comedy. It's
it's basically the bully who's been picking on a kid
every day at school. The kid turns around, kicks him
in the nuts, and then chokes him out in front
of his girlfriend and then walks away holding her hand.
And the guy finally comes to and goes, wait, you
can't do that. No, wait I just did Yes, I
(23:58):
can do it. I just did it. And the line
you're doing it to everybody, Good for them, no prisoners,
no mercy. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio. By the way,
speaking of Michigan, you know what else is in Michigan.

out an award here on this show coming up here
in just a couple of moments from now. But for
all the latest from around the world of sports, make
some noise for Martin Wise.
Speaker 7 (24:42):
You know, Jonas, there was a moment in today's show
where I almost sent you one.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
Of those nasty tweets that you've read out over.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
The year, say what I do wrong?
Speaker 7 (24:50):
Because most of the time you're, you know, like like
just a minute ago, talk about the lines and the
trick plays. Your response is essentially play better defense, right,
don't get blown out?
Speaker 4 (24:59):
Right?
Speaker 7 (25:00):
I respect that, Yeah, But for you to start the
show talking about.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
The where's rule in football?
Speaker 1 (25:05):
Is what it?
Speaker 3 (25:05):
Somebody fumbles the end.
Speaker 1 (25:07):
Zone, Martin, Don't tell you're not one of them?
Speaker 4 (25:09):
Are you?
Speaker 3 (25:09):
Tell me this, don't fumble. How about you think fumble?
Speaker 1 (25:12):
I agree, But you shouldn't lose possession of the ball.
Why not? Okay, if you fumble the ball out of
the end zone and the other team doesn't recover, why
should they get the ball?
Speaker 3 (25:22):
Because the end zone is the only place.
Speaker 7 (25:24):
Obviously where you can score six points on a football field.
The rules there are obviously different because let's say you
cross the end zon only half the half the ball
crosses over, boom, that's a touchdown. There's a tip of
the ball crosses over, that's a touchdown. The rules are
different there, so the fumble rules should be different as well.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
If the fumble rules are different, that's fine. Penalizes them
twenty yards the ball goes back to the twenty. Like
twenty yard penalty is punitive enough to lose possession. I
just I don't understand it. I honestly, it doesn't make
any sense to me. It's one of those things, dude.
It's like tis the season, you know, it's political. He's
(26:00):
not know if anybody's seen an add or two while
while they're watching a football game here. It's like you literally,
whoever's got their mind made up, their mind is already
made up. You can't do anything about it. Like it's
just the argument that is always going to be there.
It's like steroids in baseball. It's like whether or not
Pete Rose should be a hall of it. Like this
is going to be one of those things. And I
almost wonder if, like the NFL and college football get
(26:21):
together and go, you know, let's keep this going a
little bit.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Longer, like keep it going just for the controversy.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
Yeah, why not. You know, let's get people to argue
about it on radio and TV and fans to argue
on social media, because I just I've never understood it,
but you know, is what it is. By the way,
had that play if your Penn State you're thankful for
that play? Oh yeah, because if he scores there, the
tenor of this game is completely different.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
I mean it's absolutely different.
Speaker 7 (26:46):
And when you consider that Penn State so far has
scored only one touchdown in this game, which was a
pick six, that goes to show you like, yeah, it
would be.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
It was incredibly, incredibly damaging for.
Speaker 7 (26:59):
Ohio State, which is why their senior quarterback, who transferred
in from Kansas State last year, started over thirty five
college football games in his career.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
Probably should have held onto the ball and crosses to
the end zone.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Yeah, not ideal. And also the fact that it was
bad luck that he was running and so the ball
hit his knee. Otherwise that ball would have gone out
of bounds on like the one yard line. They probably
would have punched it in from there. But bad luck
for Ohio State. Good luck for Penn State. They just
got a capital.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
Well running in the ball hits his knee.
Speaker 7 (27:27):
Is it bad luck when a basketball player kicks the
ball out of bounds or should he just have better
ball handling skills?
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Probably better ball handling skills, but I don't think he
should be you know, he should cough up twenty points
to the end of.
Speaker 7 (27:40):
Well, speaking of that again, we're talking about one forty five
left in the third quarter as Penn State the home
team with the ball trailing Ohio State seventeen to thirteen.
Will Howard could have had more touchdowns, as we've clearly
outlined in this update, but he has two right now
through the air one hundred and thirty eight yards pass
and quinch on junkids with forty eight yards or forty
seven yards rushing. Drew Aller, no touchdown and an interception
(28:01):
so far, both quarterbacks doing an interception. The difference Will
Howards led to six for Penn State. Miami just scored
a touchdown themselves. They converted to the two point conversion
and got the ball back. They were trailing Duke seventeen.
I'm sorry, twenty eight to seventeen. The number five team
in the nation was the Hurricanes, now trailing by three,
twenty eight to twenty five. First and goal on the
(28:22):
one for cam Ward and the crew. Malik Murphy with
three touchdowns passing in this game as well as Miami
second in goal. Looks like here, I'll help you that
one as we keep going. The score not close here
Old Miss stretching out on Arkansas forty nine to seventeen.
The Rebels over the Razorbacks Arkansas, I mean Old Miss.
The nineteenth Thrainey team in the nation Jackson Dart with
(28:43):
five touchdown passes.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
How about this?
Speaker 7 (28:45):
What is Jordan Watkins seven catches, one hundred and ninety
two yards, four touchdowns. This game has seven minutes left
or six thirty left in the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Third quarter.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
That's a good.
Speaker 7 (28:56):
Two games for a wide receiver and army Leeds Air
Force thirty team to three.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
Illinois Leeds. I'm sorry.
Speaker 7 (29:02):
Minnesota leads Illinois sixteen to ten at the end of
the third quarter of Army Air Force. In the fourth,
Garrett Cole opted out of his contract with the Yankees.
They can add one year and thirty six million dollars
to his existing deal by Sunday evening to avoid the
opt out and bring them back.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
As bo Bench said, that's the magic of Scott Boris right.
Speaker 7 (29:18):
There no such clause with Anthony Rizzo's contract. The Yankees
declined the option on him. The first basement is now
a free agent in the NFL. The Drake May has
cleared concussion protocol. Rookie quarterback expected to start against the Titans.
Jonas back to you and your participation level trophy.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
A take on the end zone there, that's fine, we
can both participate in. Miss cam Ward is unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
He's really good by.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
The play he made. I think it might have been
his first touchdown past today against Duke. He's I don't
know how the Heisman is going to shake out. Ashton
Genty I think should obviously get an invite to New York,
But Jesus cam Ward.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
Is funded one.
Speaker 7 (29:55):
And speaking of cam Ward, the Miami Discord a touchdown
now thirty two, twenty eight And if you don't have
to me, you don't have cam Woard, Travis Hunter, and
Ashton Genty in New York, then invalidate the entire thing.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
Totally agree, totally agree, And that's and then it becomes
And what's interesting about that is it's you know, you've
got a running back, you've got a guy who does everything,
and then you've got the quarterback. So if we could
get a defender in there, like we've really like like
gotten everything done. Like if we get a special teams guy,
Tory Taylor, if he was still in college football, should
get an invite there so we can make sure every
(30:28):
food group is represented at the Heisman ceremony. Thanks Martin.
It is Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. By
the way, coming out here in about ten minutes from now,
we are going to have another edition of Do You Care.
There's been several storylines, things that you've been force fed
in the world of sports over the last several days.
We are going to give you the brutal truth about
all of those. That'll be yours here on FSR. So
(30:50):
you know, we like to do something here on this
show where we like to celebrate because there's like a
lot of teams out there in the NFL that know, like, hey,
we've already been eliminated. In fact, there's a lot of
team out there that knew that I don't know, like
back in August, and so like, yeah, you know, just
because they're eliminated doesn't mean they can't be celebrated to
a certain extent. And so that's why we came up
(31:12):
with a little something here on the show where we
do every single Saturday where we try and celebrate, we
try and spread positivity, and we try and hand out
an award. So, without further ado, for Week nine of
this NFL season, I present to you our TGFG Game
of the Week Award and it goes too Patriots. Oh
(31:38):
that's right, that's right. You better believe it. By the way,
you remember when this was a playoff game a couple
of years ago, at probably a little bit more than
a couple of years ago, but you remember it was
Tom Brady's final games a Patriot, and it was a classic,
Like I think Ryan Tannehill threw for like negative eight yards,
but they still won the game. It was Tom Brady
who threw an interception. I think it was his last
(32:00):
play as a Patriot, and then he walked off into
the sunset and everyone said, man, that's probably the last
we're going to see a Tom Brady. And then he
went on and won a Super Bowl and played at
an MVP level and did all that in Tampa Bay.
But this used to be like a classic matchup Mike Rabel,
Bill Belichick, you know, coaching pupil like going against each other.
(32:22):
And what is it now, bad football team versus bad
football team. They are a shell of themselves. This was
a pretty obvious choice. Now we could have done Saints Patriots,
but Derek Carr's back and it kind of changes the
complexion of that, and who knows, maybe Bryce Young and
the Panthers are going to like rebound back and you know,
(32:42):
come back even though there's seven plus point underdogs at
home and not really optimistic there because they're a terrible
football team too. But nonetheless, you got to make difficult
decisions on this show. So our TGFG Game of the
Week goes to the Patriots and the Titans. That is
a one Eastern time kick off on Fox TGFG, thank
(33:04):
God for gambling, because I not for gambling. Nobody's watching
this garbage. Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. Coming
up next here from the Tirak dot com studios. It
is another edition of Do You Care? And it's yours
here on FSR. Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. So we
are going to have another edition of do You Care
coming up here in just a couple of moments from now.
(33:26):
Twelve minutes left to go in the game there in
State College, Ohio State is a seventeen to thirteen lead,
and there is a critical review that is taking place.
There was a catch and what looked to be a
fumble but was called an incomplete pass on the field,
So they have reviewed it. They're going to review. They
(33:47):
are making the decision now and they are going to
stick with the original call on the field that it
was an incomplete pass. A very close call. Looked like
a fumble to me as they slowed it down. But
they are going to call this an incomplete pass and
they are going to say that Ohio State gets to
retain the football. I personally, I think that's a bad call.
(34:09):
It looks like a fumble to me. It's real close,
but it looks like a fumble and a clear recovery
by Penn State in that game, so Ohio State has
the seventeen to thirteen lead. Still it is a third
and nine for the Buckeyes twelve minutes left to go
there in Happy Valley, Will Howard and company have the
football at the Penn State thirty eight yard line. So
(34:31):
we will keep you posting on this throughout the course
of the show. Coming up top of next hour, we
are going to have a discussion about something that's very interesting,
Like it's very interesting how things have played out when
it comes to certain players in the NFL that everybody
just thought, Man, no big deal, we could just move
(34:52):
past them. We'll get into that for you again here
on Fox Sports Radio. Right now, though, it is time
for a little something we do on the show called this.
Speaker 8 (35:00):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time
DMG reports. Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big
stories from the last week. But Jonas, the real question
is do you care?
Speaker 1 (35:15):
And for that we turned it over to our executive
producer Bo Benson, who was being punished by filling in
on this show, bo, what's happening?
Speaker 9 (35:22):
No, my pleasure, my pleasure. That was absolutely a fumble.
By the way, it's.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
A terrible call. Yeah, I'm trying to figure out how
that happens.
Speaker 3 (35:31):
Yeah, that's uh, that's awful.
Speaker 9 (35:33):
Why didn't LeVar Arrington run onto the field and take
issue with that? That's my question, I don't think. Speaking
of speaking of guys running on the field, yesterday's Dodgers celebration,
Dodgers infielder Keik Hernandez called out New York icon Fat
Joe for his atrocious performance ahead of the Yankees Game
(35:56):
three loss in the Bronx Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (35:59):
No, I don't care. Listen, I didn't even see I
didn't even see the Fatio performance. I've heard it's bad.
I don't even know. Like Key k Hernandez is like it,
like it's bordering on cringey sometimes, like to like some
of the stuff he does, I'll be honest, Like, I
know people, everybody loves him in this town. But it's
like there's some of the stuff that's a little a
little weird, you know, a little uh, a little grabit
(36:22):
of the junk here and there, a little uh, you know,
cup bump, you know, with Gavin Lux it's just it's
a little awkward, a little weird. Uh, But you know,
congratulations with the Dodgers. I couldn't care less about fat Joe.
I'm sorry. I didn't know if he's still fat. I
mean maybe he's not that.
Speaker 9 (36:37):
Yeah, that was that's one of the that's one of
the digs that k K took on him, is he's
not so fat Joe anymore.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Yeah. Yeah, all right, well this is what it is.
It's good for him, happy health.
Speaker 9 (36:45):
Next sixer, center Joel Embiid took uh. He took issue
with how he's been treated in the media, being accused
of not wanting to play while he's rehabing a knee injury.
He kind of lashed out at UH reporters yesterday. So, Jonas,
do you care about Joel Ebiid's lot?
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Oh no, I don't care about this. I don't care.
This is just typical storyline drama in the NBA early on,
because nobody really cares until the playoffs start. Like, I
don't like listen. I hope he gets back if he's
got a problem with people being critical like welcome to Philly,
Like they're critical about everything. Even when they win, they
(37:21):
celebrate weirdly. You know, people are talking about the behavior
of Dodger fans like after they won the World Series,
like dude, Eagles fans eight horse crap off the ground
after they won the Super Bowl, like like what it's
what Philly is. But you know this does nothing for me.
Speaker 9 (37:37):
Next, Manchester City's thirty two game unbeaten streak and the
English Premier League came to an end as they lost
two to one to AFC Burnmouth. Jonas, do you care,
Oh god, no, no, no, definitely not.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
I would, I swear to got it if somebody walked
in from Manchester City and said, Hi, I play for
Manchester City, I'd have no idea who Manchester City was,
Like literally zero clue. There's nothing less interesting right now
in the world of sports than me having a conversation
about international soccer does zero to me. And if that
(38:11):
offends people that are international soccer fans, too bad. Stick
around hour three. All hour is international soccer hour here
on this show.
Speaker 9 (38:20):
Next, the Indiana Fever have hired former Connecticut Son head
coach Stephanie White for their open coaching vacancy.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
Jonas, do you care, Oh no, definitely not. I'd like
to apollo us to international soccer. I actually care about
this less than that, Like no, yeah, definitely not at all.
What's like this literally zero for me. This is NFL season,
this is college football season. Everything else can take a
back seat next all right.
Speaker 9 (38:47):
For the first time since nineteen thirty eight, children in
Des Moines, Iowa, were able to celebrate Halloween the right way. Normally,
the lawn des Des Moines states the children trick or
treat on Beggar's Night, which the night before Halloween.
Speaker 7 (39:01):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (39:02):
They passed that to reduce hooliganism that takes place on Halloween. However,
due to weather, Beggars Night was moved to Thursday, which
was Halloween. Which all of this really explains a lot
about someone that we work with here at Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
So, Jonas, do you care? Yes, hold on what wait?
So let me so Iowa Sam, Who's like literally one
of the most disliked people on planet Earth. Like I'm
not even like if you tell if you were to
you were to like poll like everybody at Fox Sports
(39:35):
Radio and say hell, like, hey, like who do you
dislike the most here at the network? Iowa Sam would
be number one? And there wouldn't be a close to
like Iowa Sam who just like talks about how great
I was, Like he didn't like think to clue us
in in the decade plus he's been here that Oh,
by the way, we're not allowed to celebrate Halloweens called
Beggars Night. I don't, well, that kind of makes sense,
(39:57):
like I mean, like you know, considering who we work with,
does kind of make a little bit of sense here
for being honest, you know, it's very interesting, very interesting
how things have played out for a few players in
the NFL in a big, big year. We'll get into
that for you coming up here in just a couple
of moments from now. Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. You
can listen to. This show is always on the iHeartRadio app.
(40:20):
You can find us on hundreds of affiliates all across
the country or wherever you are making us a part
of your Saturday afternoon. We appreciate you doing so. We're
gonna take you all the way up until the end
of this hour four pm Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific,

dot Com Studios. Tire rack dot Com we'll help you
(40:41):

rack dot com the way tire buying should be. So
Penn State, who has not been able to score on
offense yet or at least score touchdown and get into
the end zone, has the ball on a second and goal,
now a third and goal there in State College six
(41:04):
and a half minutes left to go in the game,
down twenty to thirteen. So if you've not been paying
any attention to this game, Martin Weiss has kept you
updated throughout the course of the show. But it was
a pick six. They gave Penn State their only touchdown
and two field goals. Ohio State, after going down early
ten to nothing, bounced back, took a fourteen to ten
(41:26):
lead and is held onto a lead throughout the course
most of this game. So now Penn State has an
opportunity to tie the game with a touchdown here and
an extra point to try and get into the end
zone for the first time today, and they are going
to run it again, and they are stopped at the
goal line. So this is going to set up what
(41:47):
appears to be a fourth and goal for Penn State,
and the clock's still running, so five minutes and about
forty seconds left there in State College. So can considering
how it's gone for Penn State on offense here, this
may be their last real good shot to get into
(42:09):
the end zone. Obviously they're going to go for it here.
They're down seven, and all the conversation about James Franklin
and James Franklin against top teams and his record against
Ohio State, there's a lot of the line for Penn State,
who is trying to get over the hump against both
Ohio State and Michigan this year, which who they have
struggled against. And now on fourth and goal, there's a
(42:29):
throw to the end zone and it is incomplete and
so Ohio State will take over on the Penn State
one yard line. So just not a great day on
offense for Penn State. And look, give Joel Clack credit.
Joel Clatt pointed this out before the show or early
or before the game or early on in the game,
(42:50):
where he said, look, Ohio State's defense has been a
little bit suspect at times, but their red zone defense
has been great and it has been today. Obviously there
was the interception, the interception in the end zone at
the end of the first half. And now they just
got a big stop on a fourth and goal from
the one yard line. So now Ohio State takes over
up twenty to thirteen, but they are pinned back now
(43:13):
on the Penn State one yard line or on their
own one yard line rather with five minutes and change
left to go. And again we will keep you updated
on that. That is the game of the day in
college football, So that'll be yours and we'll keep you
posting on that throughout the course of it here on FSR.
So let's get into this conversation here Jonas Knox on
Fox Sports Radio. So I was looking at something. So
(43:35):
we were talking about just revenge, like Xavier McKinney of
the Green Bay Packers is talking about, how, you know,
the Lions trying to embarrass people and you know that's
not going to happen here, and it's like, okay, Like
I was heard, like, you know, people complaining about, you know,
what they were doing against the Cowboys because they were
running hooking ladders with their offensive lineman. And my own
(43:55):
thought on it is like, dude, hold on, the Lions
have heard enough crap from everybody for decades. I got
no problem with them trying to get a little bit
of revenge and them trying to let everybody know not
your same old Lions, like, because they've heard a lot
of talking, Like there's been a lot of stuff out
there when it comes to the Lions. Then it comes
(44:16):
to their organization and how poorly run it is, and
they're owing sixteen team, and they're like all the stuff
that you've heard for years and years and years, either
on this network or on other Look, I'm guilty of it. Two,
I've taken my shots at the Lions. There's been some
embarrassing performances, bad coaching hires, all that stuff, And so
now the Lions are good, and in my mind, they're
(44:38):
the best team in the NFL. Like I don't think
anybody's close. Like I think you give me Detroit Kansas
City right now in the Super Bowl. I'll take Detroit
all day, and that's going against Patrick Mahomes. Give me
the Lions. They're the best team in football, and I
think there's a significant gap between them and the next
best team in the NFC. So give the Lions credit.
(44:59):
I'm happy for I hope they run up the score
on everybody. I like, I hope they continue to do
what they're doing and it pisses everybody off. I got
no problem with it. It is their time for revenge.
But then I started thinking about this. I was just
curious about this because you know what else, like we've
been hearing a lot about that's that's gotten like a
lot of the taking the brunt of a lot of
(45:19):
the takes, you know, when it comes to maybe not
being relevant or not being the same or dying out
or Lis said, it's you know, no longer the running
back position, like you know, like we've been hearing that
for a while now, Like the running back position in
(45:40):
the NFL has been downgraded by just about everybody. Like
they're telling you, like, oh, it's not as important anymore.
It doesn't matter anymore. You know, running the football is
not it. It's about it's a passing league. It's all
the like they've they've kind of almost like tried to
kill off the running back. And so I was just
curious because I just, you know, wanted to just follow
up on that. You know, somebody who grew up old
school ball, you know, like I grew up watching the
(46:03):
NFC Central back in the day. I remember being a
little kid, like tiny, watching the NFC Central and it
was before the NFC North, and it was the Bears
and the Lions and the Packers and the Vikings and
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in those sweet creamsicle jerseys. Remember
this one year the Bears finished a season with more
(46:25):
rushing yards than passing yards. And they weren't all that
bad like that, Like everybody ran the football back then,
like full backs mattered like it look at it, but
like there's been this thing to where lately they' were
been trying to kill off the running back. So I
looked at this and I go, Okay, you know, the
Lions are getting their revenge on everybody for all the
stuff that's been said about them for years now, there's
(46:46):
been a lot of stuff said about running backs. I
was like, all right, so are running back's going to
get their revenge? And so I'm looking over and I'm
just kind of taking a peek, and I'm like, huh,
let me look at the top five rushers in the league.
So love the top five rush and I'm like, all right,
leading rushers at this point in the season for the
top five have something in common, and I want to
(47:10):
see if you can figure out what they have in common.
All right, Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, Joe Mixon,
those are for the top five rushers in the league.
They've all got something in common. You know what it is?
They were all told yeah, we don't need you anymore
(47:33):
by their former team, Like all of them. Derrick Henry
was told that by the Titans, Saquon Barkley was told
that by the Giants, Josh Jacobs was told that by
the Raiders, Joe Mixon was told that by the Cincinnati Bengals.
All of them are in the top five in the
NFL and rushing. So you're thinking, yeah, but look, you know,
(47:56):
I mean, somebody doesn't have to win the breakup or
win the divorce. Maybe it's equal, maybe both won it. Okay,
So let's go ahead and take a look at their
former teams. The Titans, the Giants, the Raiders, and the
Bengals are all in the bottom half of the league
(48:17):
in rushing this year, and Cinci and Vegas are in
the bottom five. Well, jeez, what do you think it's missing?
Gotta wonder what it is what do you think it
might be. I can't imagine. Gosh, why can't we run
the football? I don't know, I don't know what if gosh,
(48:37):
you know, like all this good, like Cincinnati's probably looking
around going god, you know, if we could run the foot,
that would help, that might help. Well you could have
Like it's not like those players wanted to leave. Derrick
Henry didn't want to leave Tennessee. He was just basically told, yeah,
we're going in different direction. Okay, all right, I guess
(49:00):
you're gonna do what you do. That's fine, All good.
I'll go sign with Baltimore and I'll be the home
run acquisition of the off season. Okay, you got it.
Saquon Barkley wanted to be in New York with the Giants.
He wanted it, like he basically campaigned. It pained him
(49:22):
to have to leave, like he wanted to stay there.
He tried, he tried. They had conversations at Giants and
then finally it got too late and where it's playing
out on hard knocks and they're like, I don't know
why he left. What do you mean? Like there were
opportunities for you to keep him. He wanted to stay.
They didn't. No, they wanted to get They gave Daniel
(49:44):
Jones a contract, they did all this. He wanted to
be there. They said no. He said, all right, fine,
I'll go to Philly.
Speaker 2 (49:51):
Eh.
Speaker 1 (49:52):
Also one of the great acquisitions of the off season.
It's worked out tremendously. We're at the Raiders. You know
what would help us struggling quarterback, like a struggling quarterback
or a young quarterback on offense, you know what help
a running game. Raiders are one of the worst in
the league.
Speaker 3 (50:09):
Hmm.
Speaker 1 (50:11):
Josh Jacobs didn't want to leave. He didn't He too
didn't want to leave like he wanted to stay. But
he liked it like he wanted to stay. Raiders are like, eh, oh, whatever,
all right, I guess I gotta go play in Green Bay,
and I guess I gotta be in the top five
(50:31):
and rushing at the halfway point of the year. Okay,
and green Bay's good? All right? Since he Joe Mixon like, nah, listen,
we're gonna move on. Okay, you're also terrible at running
the ball and I'm in the top It's like, there's
nothing more appropriate than this. Like we've been hearing for
(50:53):
years now, running back doesn't matter. It's being phased out.
It's about passing the football, and it's it's not like
this is a one off. It's not like there's just
one player. No, like four of the top five rushers
in the league were told by their former team this
past offseason, we don't need you anymore, and all of
(51:17):
their former teams suck at running the ball. Now, it's
like it cannot be spelled out any more obvious than
it has so far. I hope it continues, just like
I hope the Lions revenge tour continues because I think
it's hilarious. Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio at

just gone final in State College. Ohio State has beaten
(53:54):
Penn State twenty to thirteen, a massive win on the
road for Ohio State. And it's the same old, same
old for Penn State. Who came into the game. James
Franklin was one in nine against Ohio State in his
career and three and seventeen against top ten teams. James
(54:18):
Franklin is now one in ten against Ohio State and
three and eighteen in his career against top ten teams.
And that is a shocked but maybe not totally surprised

(54:39):
oh boy, that is a frustrating place to be man,
I mean. And then you got Will Howard icing the
game on a run, sliding to give himself up to
keep the clock running after the spot following the first
(55:01):
down and then does the little first down taunt to
the crowd. After he had spoken about growing up in Pennsylvania,
them not recruiting him, him being able to go back
there as a member of Ohio State and win that
game in State College. That is a bad bad scene
if you're a Penn State Nitney lyon fan That is
(55:22):
a rough one there in state college, but a big
win for Ohio State. And look, you can go back
to key moments in that game, and there were several
and look, Penn State's got a gripe but up fourteen
to ten Ohio State, and we talked about this. Fourteen
to ten in the first half, Will Howard looks like
he's about to score and gets stripped. Ball bounces off
(55:47):
his knee while he's running in stride and goes out
of the back of the end zone. Terrible rule that
Penn State gets the ball and they get the ball
at the twenty yard line because he fumbled out of
the back of the end zone. Terrible rule in my mind.
And then Penn State takes over and they're not able
to do anything with it. And their one touchdown all
(56:08):
game was a pick six. So that was a key
moment in the game that it looked like Penn State
was the beneficiary of the of the rule there the
ball going out of bounds, but there was other stuff
that popped up throughout like there was a bad call. Look,
it looked like a completed pass and a fumble, clear
recovery by Penn State, it was called incomplete on the field.
(56:29):
They reviewed it and still called it incomplete on the field.
I disagree with the call, but Penn State still had
an opportunity after that, like there was, you know, in
the first half, there was even an opportunity Ohio State
with a with a big interception in the corner of
the end zone. And then Penn State in the second half,
with about five minutes left to go, has a fourth
(56:49):
and goal from the one yard line and wasn't able
to punch it in incomplete pass. They decided to throw
it on fourth down because they tried to run it
a couple of times before that and weren't able to
do it. So credit to Ohio State. And as we
mentioned on the show, Joe Klatt talked about this before
the game or early in the game, Ohio State's red
zone defense was much better than their defense had been
(57:11):
over all this season, and they came up big. And
it's the same old, same old there, and so now
Penn State falls back and the conversations are only going
to get louder. And you know, James Franklin, here's that.
We were talking about it with lebar Arrington on the show.
On Friday, Like, listen, man, James Franklin's got to hear
that stuff, Like he's got to know that that's a
reputation that's out there that is attributed to him. That Look,
(57:36):
they've done amazing things at Penn State. He's taken over
the program. They've recruited well, they brought in a ton
of talent, like they are a top team in college football,
like they are one of the real good programs in
college football. And being there on campus last month, being
able to walk around the football building, the facility like
(57:56):
it is top notch, like everybody there is this profecttionals
could possibly be. There's a reason why they've had the
success because James Franklin came in and completely changed the program.
Like the reputation, the conversation, all of that stuff. But
the problem is in these big games they've come up
short and he's the one that's having to hear about it.
(58:19):
And so going into this game, like you knew what
the numbers were, one and nine against Penn State again,
or one and nine against Ohio State, three and seventeen
against top ten teams, like that's been the real conversation
to be had. And now you're going to have the
same conversation afterwards, and offensively, they didn't get it done.
And there's going to be people for Penn State that
are going to point to well defensive holding down the
(58:41):
field on some of those dbs for Ohio State. Look
missed a couple of calls there, the fumble or the
that was ruled an incomplete pass in the fourth quarter.
Totally agree with you the fact that they reviewed that
and kept with the call on the field. That's not good.
It's a terrible call. But interception late in the first half,
(59:05):
you know, a goal to go situation late in the
game and you can't punch it in like they've got
to wear this stuff. It's going to be a long
week for Penn State. There's going to be a lot
of conversation from Penn State. It felt like this was
going to be the year of all years that you
were going to get Ohio State too, Like, look, Ohio
State alum are not high on this program. Albert Breer
(59:26):
came on the show Thursday. Albert Breer's as big of
an Ohio State alum and some would call apologists as
you want to call it. And he's even said, man,
the offensive line all this stuff, like people are not
as high on Ohio State this year as they've been
in other years at all. Like you saw the way
the end of that game played out against Oregon, and
(59:47):
yet of all the years you were going to get
Ohio State, if you were Penn State, You've got him
in Happy Valley. You've got him big time, as big
as stage as you could get. You've got all the
momentum you've won and come up clutch in big game
scenarios all season long, most notably at USC when you
(01:00:07):
were trailing and you win that game in overtime and
then Penn State just comes up short again. And if
you're a Penn State fan, and if you're a Penn
State you've got to be looking at this going, I mean,
when is this gonna be corrected? Like this was the
year of all years that you would expect that they'd
have an opportunity to get it done and they come
(01:00:28):
up short yet again. Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio.
By the way, be sure to tune in to Fox
Sports Radio every Sunday morning at ten am Eastern times
seven am Pacific for Countdown to Kickoff, presented by bet
MGM Briano, Jeff Schwartz, and professional better Bill Krackenberger will
have you covered three hours before kickoff every Sunday morning.
(01:00:51):
Listen to Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Bet MGM right
here on Fox Sports Radio and on the iHeart Radio app.
So we're going to get in to one team in
the NFL that wishes that wishes tomorrow would have taken
place days ago. Will make it make sense coming up
here next. But for all the laters from around the
(01:01:13):
world of sports, not only in state college but elsewhere
in college football, it's Martin white Well.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
Eight straight times has happened.
Speaker 7 (01:01:20):
The Ohio State walked in a happy Valley and beat
Penn Sate for the eighth straight times that these two
teams have met, twenty to thirteen the final score and Jonas,
I mean Ohio State left a lot of meat on
the bone on this one.
Speaker 3 (01:01:32):
Will Howard fumbled out of the back of the end zone.
Speaker 7 (01:01:34):
That would have been a touchdown. I'll put a team
like this. The only offensive touchdown that Penn State scored
was a pick six. Yeah, so that's the only way
they scored a touchdown.
Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
The entire game. It's gotta be like do you know
how frustrating that's got to be. It's like I equate
it to there's that piece of furniture you always bang
your knee on in the house, and you keep telling
yourself like, next time, we're going to watch it, and
then for some reason, like every so often, still do
it and it pisses you off. Like Ohio Penn State
(01:02:04):
just keeps bumping their knee on the piece of furniture
in Columbus, Ohio every year. Twenty sixteen was the last
time they beat him.
Speaker 7 (01:02:12):
Correct, Yeah, it's been quite so time and three and
seventeen and three and eighteen now all time James Franklin
against top ten teams, one and fourteen against top five
ranked teams for James Franklin in his career.
Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
So that's a rough look.
Speaker 7 (01:02:29):
Speaking of top five teams, Miami has pulled away from Duke.
They trailed this game midway through the third quarter, then
score consecutive touchdowns at the end of the third quarter
to go ahead and take the lead. Now I've extended
it is fifty three to thirty one, the fifth ranked
Hurricane for five minutes left in the fourth quarter over
the Duke Blue Devils, Ole miss and Arkansas was a
laugh for early and right now just looking for the stats.
(01:02:50):
Sixty three to thirty one old miss over the Razorbacks
right out two minutes. That's in the fourth quarter. There
Jordan Watkins with two under fifty four yards receiving and
five touchdowns. If Jackson Dart had six touchdown passes on
the day, but when the Rod receiver has five of them,
we talk about him.
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
First.
Speaker 7 (01:03:05):
Indiana and Michigan State getting started right now, Oregon and
Michigan soon to be kicking off in just a moment
here with other college football scores, Minnesota beating number twenty
fourth thrink to Illinois twenty five to seventeen. In Army
beat Air Force twenty to three. And baseball, Garrett Cole
is opted out of his contract with the Yankees. They
can add one year and thirty six million dollars to
(01:03:26):
his existing deal by Sunday evening and void the opt out.
If they choose not to, Cole would be a free agent.
There is no such deal in Anthony Rizzo's contract for
the Yankees.
Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
They declined the option there. He is a free agent today.
Speaker 7 (01:03:39):
New England quarterback Drake May has cleared some custom protocol,
the rookie expected to start against the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 3 (01:03:45):
Jonas Knox back to.
Speaker 1 (01:03:46):
You, thanks Martin, Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio.
We are going to have another edition of Knox Locks
coming up here at about fifteen minutes from now here
on FSR. By the way, interesting, we were talking about
the running back Revenge Tour because I was making the
point earlier that it is kind of it's kind of funny.
You know, you got Derrek, Henry, Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs,
(01:04:09):
Joe Mixon. They were all told by their former teams
that they were no longer needed, and all four of
those guys are top five in the NFL and rushing
this year. Just kind of interesting. It's kind of interesting
how that works, you know, and their former teams are
all bottom half of the league in rushing, including Cinci
in Vegas who are bottom five. You know, it's worst
(01:04:29):
in the NFL and rushing though, like the worst team
in the NFL running the football, Dallas Cowboys, worst team
in the NFL running the football this year.
Speaker 4 (01:04:39):
You know, like but.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
You know, like Jerry Jones is stunned. You can't can't
can't imagine why they would be struggling this much. You know,
as we talked about earlier in the show, like he
can't he can't figure that out. He was on the
fan in Dallas and like, I just I didn't think
it'd be this bad. Like I'm a little bit taken back,
and it's like, oh, well, what did you do to
really improve the team in the offseason? If we're being honest,
like nothing, you didn't do anything. So this is what
(01:05:02):
you get. That's the result of I feel like crap.
Do you want some medicine? Do you want anything to
help you know? Okay, then what's gonna happen? You're probably
just going to continue to feel like crap if you
don't address it. You know, that's how it's gonna go.
You look terrible your final game of the season against
Green Bay, which is a playoff game. I don't know
what you expected. So the reason why this all kind
(01:05:23):
of ties in together is because it was just announced
Ezekiel Elliott will not be making the trip to Atlanta
against the Falcons on Sunday for disciplinary reasons, so he
isn't active. So that is the report from Jane Slater,
who does a great job covering the Cowboys and as
(01:05:45):
for years. So Ezekiel Elliott not making the trip to
Atlanta because of disciplinary reasons. So I can't imagine what
those disciplinary reasons were. Maybe he pulled Jerry Jones aside
and just said him, then, why are you surprised we suck? Like?
What did we do? I don't understand what could the
disciplinary reason have been that Ezekiel Elliott will not be
(01:06:08):
traveling with the team to Atlanta when they're dead laughs
and rushing and could use any help they could possibly get.
Like not saying Ezekiel Elliott's anywhere close to the same player,
but I'm just like, what is it like? At least
make it worthwhile, you know. That's all I'm saying, Like,
if you're gonna get punished, at least make it worthwhile.
If your team decides we're atrocious at running the football,
(01:06:31):
but even one of our running backs can't come with
us because he did whatever he did to piss everybody
off in the building. That's all I want to know.
So maybe we'll get some details on that. It is
the Cowboys. I'm assuming we'll get some details on that
pretty quickly here because people can't keep their mouth shut
it'll probably Jerry Jones who will release the information on that.
But that is the latest on the Dallas Cowboys, who
(01:06:51):
apparently Ezekiel Elliott did something wrong and will not be
making the trip with the Cowboys to Atlanta because of
disciplinary reasons tomorrow, so also should be pointed out in
that game. I don't know why this is not getting
any of the headlines or any of the storylines. Like
you remember how people thought that the Aaron Rodgers Robert
Sala relationship was awkward, you know, like that hold back
(01:07:13):
and forth where Sala tried to give him a hug
and Rogers kind of pushed him off, and there was
like the cadence and switching up the cave like everyone
thought it was like really awkward between those guys. Like
you should really try and have respect for your founding
fathers of certain things, you know what I mean, Like
I always try and have respect for the founding fathers
of sports talk radio, the people who have done it
(01:07:36):
first and still do it better than almost anybody. Like
I mean, these people like did it first and do
it better than everybody, right, Guys like Mike North, Tony Bruno,
Steve Hartman, like they are the founding fathers of Andy Furman,
(01:07:57):
the founding fathers of sports talk radio. They did it
first and still do it at a high level, better
than anybody. And while you're sitting here talking about awkward
coach quarterback relationships and everybody's focused on the new one,
which was Robert Salah Aaron Rodgers, don't you forget about
the founding father who did it first and better than everybody,
(01:08:20):
Mike Zimmer Kirk Cousins. And they're back to face each
other this weekend. That is what a glorious relationship that was.
You remember how fun that was? Can you remember that
when my Kirk Cousins decided I don't want to get
vaxed and Mike Zimmer like called him out for it,
and then Kirk Cousins like tried to hug him on
(01:08:41):
the sideline and Mike Zimmer basically assaulted him like it
was I mean, it was awesome, Like it was great
and would like take shots in him all the time.
Like So while you're watching this game and trying to
wrap your mind around what Zeke could have done to
get himself punished and and you know, not able to
attend the game because he did something in the building
to piss everybody out. Well, you're focused on that. I
(01:09:04):
will be focused on the founding father of awkward coach
quarterback relationship, which was Mike Zimmer Kirk cousins. Who do
battle tomorrow in the NFL. You know who else does
battle tomorrow in the NFL that wishes they could have
done battle like Monday or probably Sunday night. The Bears.
(01:09:25):
Wo boy, this Cardinals game couldn't come quick enough. I'll
tell you they should. If there was one team in
the NFL that would have gladly signed up to play
a game on a short week, it would have been
the Bears. After that circus that took place on Sunday
in Washington, you talk about a tale of two franchises, Like,
(01:09:50):
if the Bears had won that game, them and the
Commanders would have had the same record and the conversations
would have been so much different. But instead, you know
the Bears did. They put on a wig, a rubber nose,
and big shoes and rode around on a unicycle, defecating
(01:10:12):
all over themselves while the Commanders ran onto the field
in celebration. What a clown show. And afterwards people are
questioning the coaches publicly. DJ Moore's questioning the decision, like, hey,
what do you think we can't get a lot going
on offense? So like, I don't know. On third and
goal from the one, should we really go full back
(01:10:35):
dive and hand the ball to an offensive lineman who
fumbles it, who's never had a rushing attempt in his career,
Like do you think that's the best play in that spot?
Probably not, but you know what, let's celebrate with the
fans before the hail Mary throw and then tip it
to Noah Brandt. There are teams that do not, at
this point in the season want to play on a
(01:10:56):
short week. They are banged up, they're not healthy. They've
got to get right like this and we need all
the time in the world we can prepare. And then
there's the Bears, who the second that game ended, if
you would have told them, hey, you can get this
taste out of your mouth, but you gotta play tomorrow
night sold, they would have played in Guam like send
(01:11:18):
us wherever, like anywhere, we will do anything. It's like
eating really spicy food and the only thing left to
drink to try and get rid of the spice is
toilet water. Like you'll do anything. I'll go bobbing in
toilet water if i can get this spice out of
my mouth, if i can get this taste out of
(01:11:38):
my mouth, I'll do anything. The Bears would have done
that to try and rid themselves of what happened in
Washington last week, and instead they got to wait all
that time. Hear all that discussion, and now they're on
their way to the desert to take on the Cardinals.
And let's be honest here, probably gonna lose. Jonas Knox
here Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox on X
(01:12:00):
at the Jonas Knox on X come up next here
speaking to losses. We are going to close up shop
with anther edition of Knox Locks, and it's yours right
here on FSR. Oh boy, I don't know if James
Franklin frequents social media. I'd steer clear for a couple
of days, maybe a few days, to be honest with you,
(01:12:21):
people are not nice. They're not nice whatsoever when it
comes to James Franklin and his struggles as a Penn
State coach. When it comes to playing either Ohio State
or top ten teams three and eighteen against the top
ten now following the loss to Ohio State earlier twenty
to thirteen and one and ten against Ohio State. Is
(01:12:44):
James Franklin in his career following that loss, and so
he is getting drugg pretty good on social media. By
the way, Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio, comeing up.
We'll call it a little over ten minutes from now.
It'll be Alex Curry and Carmen Vitally who will be
taken over the airwaves. All sorts of NFL conversation, college
football conversation. Some thoughts on the the World Series parade, which,
(01:13:08):
by the way, if I would have known, can I
be honest with you, I didn't know that, like the
twenty twenty World Series, and like you know, people dismissing
it was like such a soft spot for Dodger fans.
Otherwise I would have gone to it so much more,
I swear to God, like I didn't think anybody actually
took that serious, but like it was brought up several
times that like, no, this is legitimate, can't take this
(01:13:29):
one away from I was like, who the hell was
taking the other one away? If I would have known that,
I would have like used it at some point whatever,
the World Series champs, best team in baseball, the exactly
what they should have done and got better every series.
Something tells me the Yankees aren't going to be in
the World Series next year though, got a funny feeling
(01:13:49):
about that, and I think the Dodgers are going to
be better all right. So, speaking of something that has
not gone great at all this season, if we're gonna
be uh truthful about it, it is NOXL, which we
will touch on here coming up in just a couple
of moments from now. A reminder though, that shortly after
the show, the podcast will be going up. So if
you've missed any of today's shows, and by the way,
(01:14:11):
some highlights include not being able to argue with dumb
somebody who is surprised that they did nothing to cure
their hangover but still are hungover in the NFL, and
defending a doormat. If you've missed any of that, check
(01:14:34):
out the podcast just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you
get your podcasts. Be sure to also follow, rate and
review the pod. You know, throw some nice things in there.
I get on there, throw a little review, have some
fun things, just fun things to say. Again, that's Fox
Sports Radio. Wherever you get your podcasts, you'll see this
show posted right after we get off the air. I
will also tweet out a link to the podcast as
(01:14:54):
well at the Jonas Knox at The Jonas Knocks on X.
But right now it is time for this.
Speaker 2 (01:15:01):
Lock it.
Speaker 8 (01:15:01):
Let's lock it.
Speaker 1 (01:15:05):
Knox locks, you know what. Man like I try and
be as accountable as possible, but like some of these picks,
I still feel like I was on the right side
of him. I think I just got screwed over. To
be honest with you, Look, if these teams would cooperate
a little bit more, I mean I would be in
(01:15:25):
much better shape at this point in the season, you know,
like the Browns cooperated. They were an eight and a
half point underdog at home against the Ravens. I picked
the Browns. I didn't think they were gonna win outright,
but eight and a half points with Jamis Winston back
there slinging, it felt like a sneaky game to me
for Baltimore, and I got that one right. But I
thought Cincinnati minus two and a half against Philly was
(01:15:46):
like your typical letdown spot for the Eagles. It'll probably
be this week against Jacksonville. Knowing my luck, but Cincinnati
was just brutal in the second half of that game.
That was a bad pick. And then you know, I
got a little bit screwed on this one. I'll be honest.
Some people got the Cowboys as six point underdogs against
the Niners on Sunday Night Football, and then there's some
(01:16:08):
people like myself who got it at five and so
because of that, I got a little bit jobbed on
that game. But I will accept responsibility on it. Dallas
should have cooperated or the betting line should have cooperated
with me and given me that extra point. Nonetheless, no excuses.
Another one and two, week ten and thirteen and one
on the season. But we're back for more. I thought
(01:16:29):
the Saint said, Panthers, I'm gonna take Carolina here. I
know I've buried Carolina a ton, but I just like
New Orleans getting Derek carrback. They're still pretty banged up,
and Carolina is getting seven and a half points at home.
I just need it and not get embarrassed. That's it.
I just I need something like I know you traded
(01:16:52):
Deontay Johnson. He's in Baltimore now, and it's like, all right, Well,
you know, who do we want to play and who
do we want to trade off? But I feel like
Bryce Young maybe found a little something last week. He
wasn't great, but he's definitely looked worse in his career.
He's in again for Andy Dalton. I know Derek Carr's back.
I don't expect Carolina to win this game, but maybe
(01:17:13):
a backdoor cover. Maybe you're losing thirty to seventeen and
all of a sudden the garbage time touchdown in the end,
like something like that. Help me out here. Plus I've
got the extra half point. I'll take Carolina plus the
seven and a half Raiders and Bengals. I'll go back
to the well and take Cincinnati here. All right, the
Raiders are bad, Like, let's just call what it is.
(01:17:34):
They're bad. And you've got Antonio Piers calling out the
offensive coordinator and it's like it's like somebody, I wish
somebody would have been like, hey, you know what I heard?
Helps the offense? If like you don't walk away from
Josh Jacobs, who's like one of the leading rushers in
the league, and also if you don't trade DeVante Adams. Oh,
and also if you don't get rid of Derek Carr.
I heard that also helps the offense too. It's like, look,
(01:17:56):
you can Bury lou Getzie all you want, but like,
what are we really working with here? And Antonio Pierce
has like made questionable decisions to punt it in weird times,
Like earlier in the season he settled on kicking another
field goal when they needed a touchdown. Then he went
for a touchdown instead of kicking a field goal last week, Like,
it feels like there's been some weird decisions that have
(01:18:17):
been made. The Raiders are bad. Since he can't possibly
be this bad again, I don't think they have a
letdown in this spot. I like the Bengals minus seven,
Broncos and Ravens, same as the one previous. I'll take
Baltimore in a bounce back opportunity against Denver. They're nine
point favorites. It's a big line. I love the Denver defense,
(01:18:38):
love what Sean Payton is doing there. But I'll take
Baltimore bouncing back after a poor performance last week. And
that is your Week nine edition of Knocking Nah Well.
Speaker 9 (01:18:51):
I'll tell you what I know.
Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
That's the dumbest that I ever heard of.
Speaker 1 (01:18:54):
This has been a fun one. Thanks to Bo Benson
for stepping in, Thanks to Chris Purfett, Thanks to Martin
I appreciate everybody. You listen. Carbon and Alex are next
here on Fox Sports Radio
Speaker 3 (01:19:06):
Jonas Son of a Bitch,
