Speaker 1 (00:00):
I have you had better stop from the beginning, Jonas Knocks,
you thought you knew me. You didn't know a thing
about me. He's crazier than a else. Wrecked that guy,
Jonas Knocks, you heard me.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
The Prince of Darkness is lighting up your speakers to establish.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
An alibi for the day.
Speaker 2 (00:21):
No Live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Here's Jonas Knox.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Yep, Okay, I'm recording this world.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
I mean it deserves celebration. Believe it or not, it
deserves celebration. We'll tell you why coming up here in
just a couple of moments. From now, Jonas Knocks, Fox
Sports Radio. You can hang out with us as always
on the iHeartRadio app. You can find us on hundreds
of affiliates all across the country and wherever you are
(01:11):
making us a part of your Saturday morning into the afternoon.
We appreciate you doing so. We'll be taking you all
the way up until four pm Eastern time, one o'clock
specific here on the show. We'll do it a lot,
and I'll tell you what you know. Sometimes we get
accused of maybe being a little bit too negative from
time to time, and we're gonna go ahead and push
(01:32):
back against that. Right now, can we get a round
of applause, because it's time to celebrate here, It is
time to celebrate, you bet your sweet ass. Celebration time
here to some people who now keep it going, to
some people who deserve it. Congratulations to the New York
(01:59):
Knicks and the New York Knicks fan base. Come on,
let him hear you, folks, Come on, keep it going
after all these years, finally winning an NBA championship. Oh
(02:25):
you know what, Sorry about this time, I got some
wrong information here handed over to us. Listen, nobody's perfect,
don't judge us, but at least can we get a
round of applause again? Round of applause again? All right,
sorry about that goss. That's embarrassing. A round of applause
again on the New York Knicks and their NBA Finals appearance. Nope,
(02:49):
oh about this time, it's not even Oh so then
let me hold on. Now, let me just scan through.
I just want to see what exactly, because I mean,
I saw people like climbing stuff in the streets of
New York, and I saw people, you know, drinking beer
out of funnels and like vomiting on the side of
trash cans and celebrating, and I mean Twitter was ablaze
(03:11):
with all these instant Nicks fans. Let me just go
ahead and just punch this in. What have we got here?
What exactly are they celebrating? Oh, they got past the
second round? Okay, well, you know what, Hey to each
(03:33):
their own past the second man, that is something. I mean,
apparently that's worth climbing giant billboards and light poles and
jumping around. I got past the second round of the
NBA play. That is just an amazing, amazing accomplishment. I'm
(03:57):
just trying to figure out. Why is it that they're
celebrating that I don't understand. I mean, that wouldn't seem
like it would be grounds for celebration the way that
they were. So why he's oh, because it's been a
quarter century. This is hilarious and nobody's standing back on Wait?
Speaker 3 (04:20):
What very bizarre.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Remember when the Sacramento Kings put up a Summer League
banner inside their arena. I think it's Arco Arena. Who's
some gas station, could be Valero, could be seventy six,
who knows, But I remember, like there was like this
report that the Kings put up like a Summer League
championship banner, you know, like Blake put that up and
(04:44):
they were being mocked. And I'll say this, at least
they won that championship. You got Knicks fans running around
in John Stark's throw celebrating like they have not only
(05:05):
won an NBA title, but they won an NBA title
and they beat out the Dream Team to do it.
I've never seen anything like it. I could kind of
understand this, Listen. I could kind of get it. I
could kind of understand it because I did see this recently.
There was a team that was celebrating a huge moment.
(05:28):
It had been a long time since they had had
this moment, and they celebrated in a big way, huge moment.
In fact, it wasn't even that long ago. You weren't there,
So I'll go ahead and walk you through it. It
was my son's four year old T ball league. Because
(05:51):
they were celebrating the first base hit for one of
his teammates, who could literally hide behind a flo our vase.
This is New York, this is the Knicks, this is
Madison Square Garden, and they're celebrating advancing past the second
(06:17):
round with tears in their eyes. You gotta be kidding me, Like,
at some point, is there a Knicks fan anywhere going
you guys realize like we haven't really won anything, like
I don't. I'll be honest with you. Listen to Maybe
I'm missing something because I've seen a lot of weird
(06:40):
things hung up in rafters in places I swear to God,
and I should probably know this. Some people have called
me show prep. Jesus, I should probably know this, But
I don't recall seeing anywhere in any arena in the NBA.
For as many years as I've watched the NBA, somebody
(07:03):
have a banner up that says got past the second round. Finally,
after twenty five years, I don't recall seeing that. And
I've seen a lot of stuff in the NBA, a
lot of stuff. We've seen fights, we've seen assaults. We've
seen referees gamble on games. We've seen suspensions. We've seen
(07:26):
fake guns pulled out. We've heard about real guns being
pulled out in locker rooms. But in all those years,
I've never seen a team hang up a banner to
celebrate getting past the second round. I never have ever.
That is wild. This is a billion dollar franchise, billions
(07:53):
upon billions upon billions of dollars, And something tells me,
if you walk to the Hall of the MSG and
you took a scraper or took a little rock hammer
like dufrain on shawshank, and started picking away at the wall,
you'd see a ninety nine cent store logo underneath. You're
(08:16):
celebrating getting past the second round, as if you just
won the biggest championship in the history of sports, the
one to save planet Earth, Like, hey, if the Knicks
can do this, the aliens won't invade and we won't
get sucked up into a UFO and sprayed across fields
(08:39):
like War of the Worlds. It's the second round. Yeah,
but it's been forever.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
So what.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Knicks fans are like a drug addict who gets sober
for a week and decides to reward himself and say,
you know what, I've made it a whole week. So
they stop into a seven eleven, they buy themselves a
king sized almond Joy and then you fast forward, I
(09:16):
don't know, five, six, seven, We'll give him the benefit
of the doubt. Eight days later and guess where that
same newly sober guy is under a bridge scoring a
rock to hide in the almend joy Rapper. He just
bought it seven eleven, seven days earlier. You know how
(09:39):
this ends, just like everybody else knows how this ends.
But for some reason, we're not really worried about the ending.
We're not really worried about the big Let's celebrate a
second round win that was small time if I've ever
seen it, and they couldn't get an Oh my god,
(10:02):
Timothy Champagne or whatever that guy's name is, the actor.
He's driving through New York and people are trying to
pull him out of his limo. It's like, what are
we doing here? At what point does somebody who's actually
seen the nixt win a championship or win something of substance,
or get to the finals and, by the way, get
(10:24):
to the finals in a full season a right, not
a fifty game seat. All right, let's point like, what
is somebody gonna tap like your buddy on the shoulder
and be like, hey, dude, you know, like there's like
a lot more work to do. We could do this
in real time when it actually happens, but instead, let's
just celebrate getting past the second round for the first
(10:48):
time in twenty five years. I got news for you.
There's a reason why rehab is usually thirty or sixty
days or even longer, because it's not really about getting
past a week or two weeks. It's about beating the
thing long term, and they've yet to do it, and
(11:09):
in fact, they haven't done it in a long ass time.

the insults, which I'm sure there will be plenty of
throughout the course of this show again at the Jonas
Knox on X. At Jonas Knox Show on Instagram is
where you can follow along. But we do have more evidence,
more proof as to why somebody did something very controversial
(11:54):
in the NFL. That's next, all right. First off, Knox
can suck it.

Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Coming up a little over
ten minutes from now. We're gonna tell you about something
the NFL decided on that we haven't seen in a
long time, and it's a bit odd. It's just a
bit odd. We will explain what that is. We'll give
you the details on that for you again. Coming up
(12:34):
here a little over ten minutes from now. By the way,
you can stream this show and all of our Fox

and it will always pop up at the top of
your screen. So congratulation to brock Party and family. Brock
Party gets his payday. You knew that this was eventually
going to happen. There was some speculation, well, you know,
they weren't seeing eye to eye on things, and you know,
maybe they would just kick the can down the road
and let him play for five million and change this
(13:16):
year and so on and so. But the way that
the contracts work and the way that everything is jumping
price wise in the NFL, the Niners wanted to get
it done, and you don't blame him. Get it done
early so you don't have to worry about it later.
And there's a lot of debate and discussion is he
worth it, which I pretty much figured was going to happen.
We talked about it on this show in weeks past.
(13:37):
It's going to be like the Dak Prescott stuff all
over again, to where you're just not quite sure if
he's one of those top guys. There's some people who
value him more than others. You know, he's not a
top five quarterback. Maybe he's a top ten, but top
half of it. Just you start to go down that
road and have that discussion. Either way, it's an awesome story.
(14:00):
He was mister Irrelevant and now he was just given
generational wealth. It's awesome. And for the record, he has
played good football. He's been a good quarterback. They went
to a Super Bowl and you can argue probably should
have won that super Bowl. They didn't lose because of
him struggling. He played well, Steve Spagnola even said it.
(14:21):
He was awesome. He did a great job. But last
year felt like a year where he could prove himself,
especially with the injuries to some of the marquee players
on that team on offense is going to and he
kind of had a down year. So that being said,
it's a feel good story for brock Purty, and you
can get into the details of what the contract is
(14:43):
reportedly and what it actually is. You know, it's fifty
three million a year, it's one hundred and eighty one
million dollars in guarantees, and then he break it all
down and it's more like forty five. Whatever guy got
paid good for him. But you know what this tells me.
When you look at the brock Party contract and you
see what brock Party was paid and you see the
(15:06):
contract he got, it tells me that's exactly why Caleb
Williams and his dad tried to do what they did
with the Chicago Bears before they were drafted. That's exactly
why Brock Party and what he got yesterday and what
(15:27):
has happened to him since he got in the NFL
is exactly why Caleb Williams and his dad did what
they did because let me ask you a question. What's
the difference between brock party and Caleb Williams. I'll tell
you one was taken first in the draft, the other
(15:50):
was taken last in the draft. You want to know
what else is the difference where they ended up. When
you see brock Purty get the type of money he got,
it's because he could shine and flourish in a good system,
(16:10):
in a place that develops quarterbacks, in a place that's
got a track record of success for doing that under
a coach and a front office that's done it with
others before him. Like there's a reason why, and for
the discussion everybody wants to have, like, well, if brock
(16:31):
Purty was anywhere else, he would Okay, true, if he
was anywhere else, he wouldn't be the same player. But
he's not anywhere else. He's there. Thus he gets the
rewards that come along with it. When the story comes
out from Seth Wickersham of Caleb Williams and his dad
having concerns about the Bears organization and maybe we got
(16:52):
to look elsewhere. We gotta, you know, we've got to
try and to people are, oh, he's spoiled he's entitled.
You don't have the that's such a stuck up wave. Okay,
but guess what, he's right. They were right to have concerns,
and it ain't like last year proved them wrong, and
(17:15):
in fact, it made their point for them what happened.
Rock Purty's a benefactor and a beneficiary of a good
organization and a stable organization that can build around you
and do it the right way. That's exactly why when
(17:38):
you get a draft pick, go man. You know, I'm
not sure about this place peg at all. Well, you
should be grateful. Listen. Of course he's grateful, But imagine
you're in Kleb Williams shoes. You just have to take
whatever you're given by the NFL. Oh and by the way,
what comes with that is you have to take all
(17:59):
the heat for if your career doesn't amount to what
somebody else's career was or what somebody else thought your
career should be, you're the one that has to wear that,
not them. It's easy for us to stand on the
outside and say no, no, no, you should just take what
you're given, be grateful that you're in the NFL. And
yet we're also the ones on the outside. When the
(18:20):
career doesn't amount to what other people thought it was,
that you start throwing out terms like bussed or couldn't
make it, or over hyped or failure. So Caleb Williams
and his dad were like, look, we got concerns. This
is not a stable organization. We don't even know what
the stadium issue is going to be. We don't know
(18:42):
what the status is with the coach with it, like,
we're just not sure. They meet with Kevin O'Connell and
they're like, yeah, like I hit it off great with him.
We'd love to go to Minnesota. I got news for you.
So what just about every quarterback in the NFL who's
done something similar to what Kyle Shanahan has done, Kevin O'Connell,
(19:07):
they're in these meetings, they're having these discussions. There's a
reason why Sam Darnold just got paid. There's a reason
why Kirk Cousins got another monster contract. There's a reason
why JJ McCarthy said the same thing. I want to
get drafted by the Vikings. What they told you and
(19:29):
what was reported in that article was one hundred percent
true and makes all the sense in the world. So
when you watch Brock Purty, who was taken last in
the tre There's not a scout or anybody in the
NFL with a pair of working eyes and half a
(19:51):
brain who wouldn't take Caleb Williams out over Brock Purty
coming out of college. There's nobody on planet Earth, nobody.
So what's the difference, Well, one was taken first. When
was saying they were both drafted? No, no, what's the difference? Stability?
(20:13):
Like one ended up in a great spot, a perfect
spot to grow and learn and excel as a quarterback,
and the other ended up in a place after one
year that fired their coach during the season, fired their
offensive coordinator during the season. And if you believe the
(20:37):
other portion of the report from Seth Wickersham apparently didn't
even have any real guidance on how to watch film
for their quarterback either. Nothing really there, just kind of yeah,
we didn't you know, didn't really address the offensive line
and you know, he's running for his life and all
that stuff. But yeah, you know, listen, hey, hey whatever. Yeah,
(20:59):
it's like, right after the article comes out, you see
a guy who was taken dead last in the draft
just signed for two hundred and sixty five million dollars
and the reason he was able to do that, and
the reason he's able to have that generational wealth is
because he was drafted into stability. So when I see
(21:19):
brock Purty get the money he got, I look back
at the article about Kayleb Williams and his dad and
they go, yeah, I get it, totally get it. They
were right. Hopefully it works out. But we're one year
in and thus far they've been one hundred percent spot
on Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas
(21:40):
Knox and X at the Jonas Knox and X and
you can hang out with us as always on the
iHeartRadio app. By the way, you can also follow us
along on the Instagram page at Jonas Knox Show. That's
at Jonas Knox Show on IG up. Next though there
is ah it's the first time we've had this in
a long time, and it's kind of odd in the NFL.
We'll explain what that is here on FSR. But for
(22:02):
all the latest from around the world of sports, we
turn it over to the man, Martin Wise.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Jonas. I got a question for you real quick before
I get started here.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
Yes, sir, do you mind if I a test drive
to take for you. You were just talking about the
Caleb Williams and then this Wickersham report.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Oh, the expose.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
On how Caleb Williams was just I have no interest
in being a bear, decided not to New City, so
on and so forth. The big thing he was watching
film by himself. He didn't know what to watch. According
to the article or according to the excerpt from the book,
I should say, how much of that is an indictment
on old Lincoln Riley, who I mean, who coached KAYLEB
(22:41):
Williams for the entirety of his college career.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Yeah, no, that's fair. That that's fair. And also I
think it also lends credence to I think there was
another report that Caleb Williams actually reached out to Lincoln
Riley during the course of last year. Also, like didn't
reach out to any of his coaches that he currently
has reached out to former coaches for some assistance. So
now I'm with you, man, I just I look at
(23:05):
it and I go. People can complain all they want,
but if you had an opportunity to be able to
land in a better spot as opposed to one, you
just have to have Sure. I don't know why anybody
would push back against it, and Rock Party's the perfect
example of it. Perfect example.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
And as a result of Rock Party the landing in
the perfect spot, he is now going to be two
hundred and sixty five million dollars richer over the next
five years, one hundred and eighty one of those million
dollars guaranteed. Prior to this, had only earned two point
six million dollars in his first three NFL seasons. So,
as I said to the guys back here, he was
clearly eating at the soup kitchen. But that does make
(23:44):
him the seventy six highest paid quarterback in the last
three seasons.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
The WNBA tip Off weekend continues.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
The defending champion in New York Liberty right now with
a fifty three to forty five lead over the Las
Vegas Aces I Brand A Stewart with fifteen points, Dessaja
Cloud with thirteen.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Ajia Wilson, multiple time MVP in the league, She's got
nineteen points.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Right now again, six point thirty left in the third quarter,
fifty three to forty seven to score. The Baltimore Orioles
have fired manager of Brandon Hyde Brand Baltimore is fifteen
and twenty eight, ten and a half games back of
the first place Yankees. Third base coach Tony Massalino will
be the interim manager for the oh Speaking of those
first place Yankees, they are right now trailing the Mets
(24:31):
in Game two of a subway series being played in
the Bronx.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
The Mets right now two to one with the Yankees
at back.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
Excuse me, my my allergies, and I wouldn't wish this
on my worst enemy. With Game six for the Western
Conference second Round the Winnipeg Jets and the Dallas Stars
that has set to tip eight pm Eastern Standard time,
and right now that's White Sox. If they won nothing,
leave over the Cubs one on one out in the
(25:00):
hot bottle of the first inning. Jonas back to you.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
All right, So can I ask you a question about allergies, dude,
because I've not because I've never actually like talked to
my doctor if I have any, Like, what are this?
Is it just sneezing? Is it just like? How do
you like? And what sparks yours? What's the problem?
Speaker 4 (25:15):
See mine? What happens with me? I could feel it
when the weather starts to shift. Right, we're in this
Chaine where we're kind of it's kind of warming up
but swinging back and forth, and that right there, that's.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
Ground zero for me.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
So as I was driving up, I could start to
feel it happening, and I was driving into work, and
if I didn't get to the allegor d in time,
so now it's gonna be about another hour and a
half to two hours before it finally clears up. But
it's just like the Yeah, it's just my nose starts
to just gets all stuffed up, like you could hear
it in my voice, and my nose just stuffed up.
(25:48):
My head starts to hurt. But uh, outside of that,
you know, you feel fine. It's like I have a
cold or anything. It's just it just stuffed up. Can't
breathe out of my nose.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
Yeah, that sucks.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Sorry game me and Jalen Brunton.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Yeah damn right, let's go live to our eye. Just
blew a snot rocket in a handkerchief next to bow
inside a Christopher for the latest.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
Grip I get. I get allergies too, and it's like
it's either it stuffed up or Martin, it's the other
thing where it's just the faucet's on and it doesn't stop,
and it's just everything is just kind of leaking.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Out, dude, especially just be kidding.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
For the first thirty minutes sitting here, my eyes have
just been watered like like, girl, don't don't prom like
like literally just tears coming down out of my eyes,
everything just rolling.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Out of it. I would I would say this, though.
The good news is at least you guys are in
a place it's always kept clean. Exactly, is that there's
not stuff running around or laying.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Around anything running around being the operative words. Where where'd
he go? There?
Speaker 4 (26:49):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Oh, there he is? There he is, he's been, he's this.
Speaker 1 (26:52):
This little guy's been in here for a few days now.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
We're gonna kill him one of these days.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
Road all right, So we've got we've got dual games
going on here at the show. So that ought to
show everybody what we're doing to try and get through
this two hour stretch here on Fox Sports Radio. By
the way, coming up in about twelve minutes from now,
we are going to have another edition of Do You Care?
That'll be yours here on FSR. So this is kind
of strang It's one of my favorite practices when somebody
(27:20):
is full of crap, and they just gaslight you into
into thinking no, no, come on, whatever it is that
you think you're seeing not the case, like okay, all right,
sure you got it. The latest being Mike North, who
(27:40):
helps with the NFL. I think he's the VP of scheduling.
It's not the radio legend Mike North. Jonas Sale, who
is just went into the it got the Lifetime Achievement
Award at the Barrett Sports Media Summit in Chicago. My
dear friend Mike North. Not that guy. It's the other
Mike North. It's like Mike North light. He was talking
with Jonathan Jones about an interesting situation that popped up
(28:03):
with the NFL schedule release. The Tennessee Titans have no
primetime games. Some people found that odd considering you've got
the number one pick in cam Ward. Who's the guy.
He's your starting quarterback there in Tennessee, despite what Tennessee
(28:25):
tells you he's the number one pick. Yet that team
with the number one pick, it's no primetime games. And
the explanation from Mike North to Jonathan Jones of CBS was,
we kind of have this adage that you play your
way into primetime. You don't draft your way into primetime.
So the Titans are one of those teams that don't
(28:45):
currently have a national television window assigned. But that's what
things like flexible scheduling are for. And if you look
down the stretch for the Titans, they play the Niners
in Week fifteen, the Chiefs in Week seventeen. They've got
the same opportunity every other team has to play their
way into a national window. Ah, got it? How come
(29:14):
the last time this happened it was about fourteen years
ago with Cam Newton. Let's not pretend like you've got
this old adage you don't play. Oh no, then, how
come twenty eleven was the last time a quarterback draft
(29:35):
at number one overall didn't have a primetime game going
into the season. Can we just cut the crap? It's because,
much like we saw with the NFL Draft, for whatever reason,
there's a lack of buzz surrounding the Tennessee Titans. In fact,
(29:58):
it wouldn't surprise me if Mike North out and be like,
I'll be honest with you, I forgot they picked one overall.
I totally forgot it was. Look, we can cite any
various reasons we want whether it's just the Titans organization
or whether it was a draft, but you felt it
(30:18):
going into the draft. There wasn't really the same sort
of buzz or excitement or they're just there wasn't. It
wasn't like Caleb Williams and Jaden Daniels. It wasn't like
Bryce Young, it wasn't like Trevor Lawrence. It wasn't like
Baker Mayfield, like insert any quarterback that's been taken over
(30:38):
the last fourteen years. One overall, they can give you
this giant load of malarkey, no pun intended, former Titans
coach that was purely by accident. But they can give
you that, and they can tell you, oh, you got
to play your way into it. Oh yeah, because all
(31:00):
those other guys had to.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Right.
Speaker 1 (31:03):
No, there's just really nothing kind of all that interesting
about it. There isn't this old adage. This isn't something
they've always done. No, in fact, you never do this.
You haven't done it since twenty eleven. There's a lack
of interest and a lack of buzz for cam Warden
(31:24):
the Titans, right or wrong, that's just the truth. If
you think I'm crazy and look for Titans fans I'm
on your side. I think i'd love to see I
think Indianapolis is a primetime game?
Speaker 3 (31:40):
What like? What do I like?
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Why do I want to see that? For what? I'd
rather see Tennessee in primetime? I want to see cam
warden in primetime. But I mean, answer this question, what's
gotten more coverage after the In fact, what got more
coverage during the draft or leading up to the draft?
(32:06):
Cam Ward getting drafted or should or Sanders? Sorry, like
Warren Moon came out and gave cam Ward the number one,
but the one that got all the coverage was Abdul
Carter asking Lawrence Taylor for the number fifty six. There's
(32:29):
just a lack of excitement, there's a lack of buzz.
Maybe it works out in their favor and he ends
up being awesome, But like the NFL's coming out with
this Kakamemi excuse of oh, you know, well, we have
this old adage. No you don't. You're doing the exact
same thing a lot of people have done with this pick.
You're kind of overlooking it. I hope it works out.
(32:50):
Everything you've heard about is pre draft interviews. He hit
it out of the park. He was the best quarterback
in the draft, but there is a lack of buzz
and it's evident by the NFL not scheduling the Titans
anywhere in primetime. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at

of sports that might be off the hook after all

(33:33):
who that is again, coming up here a little over
ten minutes from now here on FSR. By the way,

Speaker 2 (33:58):
There's so many stores in the world of sports, and
most of them are a complete waste of.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Time, DMS reports.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
Let's get kinky.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Here's some of the big stories from the last week.
But Jonas, the real question is do you care?
Speaker 1 (34:14):
And for that we turn it over to our executive
producer Bo Benson, who is back off suspension for testing
positive for a foreign substance.
Speaker 6 (34:24):
I believe that's that was the report that called me
the Fernando Tatis Junior.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Shots fired, Damn Jonas.
Speaker 6 (34:33):
The Chicago Bears will refocus their new stadium effort once
again on the suburb of Arlington Heights.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Do you care, Jesus Christ. No, Well, I don't care.
I'm so tired of this story. I like, there's no
there is no more exhausting story in that town than
whether or not the Bears are going to get a
new stadium done like it's been Arlington Heights. No, they'll
do it on the Lakefront. They'll This is like back
(35:02):
in the day when they were trying to get the
stadium renovated and they threatened that they were going to
play games in Gary, Indiana. Like they were going to
play games in Gary, Indiana. That was the big story there. Dude,
build a stadium, don't build a stadium. How about you
just build a good team.
Speaker 6 (35:17):
Next, former Jets defensive back Jamal Adams wants to reunite
with the team, go back and be a Jet. Jonas,
do you care?
Speaker 1 (35:25):
No, not really. So I'll say this though, Man, that
was a guy who trajectory you would look at and go, oh,
he's going to be an all pro. That guy could
be on his way to a Hall of Fame. And
then he got the contract, he ended up in Seattle
and just it's never been the same. Like that's one
of those ones where you go, at least he got paid.
(35:46):
At least he got his contract because his body has
failed him recently, So who knows. Maybe it'll work out,
but not something I'm really interested in.
Speaker 6 (35:52):
Next, the Indianapolis Colts were forced to apologize to both
Microsoft and Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill and remove their
schedule release video from the Internet. They did not have Microsoft'
permission to use Minecraft, and they poked one at Tyreek
Hill's arrest in their video. So, Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (36:10):
I mean yeah, and only because at first I have
no idea what Minecraft is. I couldn't care less, Like
is it like a basically adult legos is it kind
of like that. Is it like Lincoln Luldgs and Legos? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (36:23):
Sure, right, it's a video game. It's like Legos. That's
the closes.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Okay, yeah, not interested in that. But the one thing
I would say, Tyreek Hill wasn't offended by it, and
so like and and look, if we're being fair here,
if I'm not mistaken, Tyreek Hill was handcuffed last year
before Week one. And if I'm not mistaken, the Colts
(36:47):
are playing the Dolphins week one, So it's not like
it's an inaccurate depiction of what has happened recently in
Week one matchups for Tyreek Hill. So for that, they
shouldn't have apologized, They shouldn't have taken it down, and
at least Tyreek had a sense of humor about it.
Speaker 6 (37:03):
Next, Kelsey Plumb scored thirty seven points in her debut
with the La Sparks Jonas. Do you care?
Speaker 1 (37:08):
Oh God no?
Speaker 6 (37:09):
Next, Crystal Palace beat Manchester City one to nothing to
claim the fau Jonas.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Do you care care?
Speaker 5 (37:15):
No?
Speaker 1 (37:15):
How many of these soccer tournaments are the Crystal Palace,
Man City? Man United? Me personally, I'm a leads guy.
I'm a leads guy. Personally, I'm a Leeds United guy,
So as soon as there's some information about Leeds United
in the news, then I'll go ahead and get interested again.
Speaker 6 (37:31):
Next, the Jacksonville Jaguars will reportedly begin moving away from
their current uniform set and are looking to make their
throwbacks their primary uniforms. Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 1 (37:43):
It's like again another example of like, oh, let's fix
all this stuff on the outside, but not really the
stuff on the inside. If you're a Jaguars fan and
you're going and you're a diehard Jaguars fan, I mean
you go back to the like you've got a throwback
of a Bucky Brooks. Are you sitting there going, God,
do you know what this organization really needs? You know
(38:05):
what the real problem is? Here are uniforms or are
you looking around going hey, maybe we should protect our
quarterback that we gave all that money to. It was
cute we put Trevor Bank on the stadium, but maybe
we should protect him and kind of build around him
and try and figure out what we can do to
have a winning team again, because that's a division you
(38:25):
should be able to compete in and for some reason
they're not.
Speaker 6 (38:28):
Next, former WWF superstar Hulk Hogan and his company are
looking to step in and save an American icon as
he wants to purchase the restaurant chain Hooters and save
the company from bankruptcy. Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 3 (38:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (38:45):
I do?
Speaker 3 (38:46):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (38:47):
Yeah, Listen, I'm not one of these horn dogs, all right,
that would go into a Hooters and people are asking, hey, man,
you know, why do you have your hand in your
front pocket the whole time? That's not me, all right,
I'm not the charger security guard from back in the day.
Buffalo wings in particular, boneless buffalo wings are my favorite food.
I gotta be honest with you. I'm not sure that
(39:08):
I ever had good boneless buffalo wings at Hooters. But
for some people, they're really into it. They are really
into this thing. And so while hul Cogan is trying
to steer attention away from things that he may have
done in the past, he's got a new beer, he's
got a new you know, a wrestling organization. He's starting
(39:28):
with Eric Bischoff, who he formerly worked for in WCW. Like, well,
he's trying to do all that now he's looking at
saving Hooters. I can tell you this, right now, there's
a lot of guys listening to this that are very
happy about this result.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
All right.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
Now, I don't want to air out anybody in the
studio here, all right. I'm not trying to to cause
any sort of controversy. I'll just say this that if
there was a Hooters across the street and not a
Buffalo Wild Wing, something would tell me some of these
parties wouldn't be to go and they'd be in house
at that place. I'm just saying, feels like the place
to be.
Speaker 3 (40:07):
That's a big dad. You know.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
It does appear that one fan base in the world
of sports is off the hook. We'll get into that
for you here coming up in just a couple of
moments from now, Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. You can
hang out with us as always on the iHeartRadio app.
You can find us on hundreds of affiliates all across
(40:29):
the country and wherever you are making us a part
of your Saturday afternoon, we appreciate it. We'll be taking
you all the way up until the end of this
hour four pm Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific. We've got
all sorts of fun conversation to be had and we've
already started. We've had the fun stuff already. People are
(40:50):
fired up because I was astonished. I'll be honest with you.
I gave everything I heard I've been hearing for years.
I gave somebody the benefit of the doubt I did.
I just assumed that when everybody tells me about the
(41:11):
great New York Knicks franchise and the great New York
Knicks fan base and the die hards, and I just
thought it was this prestigious. But I thought Madison Square
Garden was like the mecca. I kept because I kept
hearing all these things, and I've been to New York
Noboddy who lived there, fun place, cool, But so I
(41:38):
just assumed that that was like big time, only to
find out not really, not the way they celebrated last night,
like no, no, no, no, no, no no. In fact, I'll tell
you what Celtic fans everywhere I would have taken that
(41:59):
last night. It is a compliment. If they were celebrating
beating the Celtics with no Jason Tatum and thirteen percent
of Christops porzingis, which, by the way, somebody at some
(42:21):
point's got to get to the bottom of that doesn't
make any sense. It's weird. Reportedly couldn't breathe. He was
out eight games with an illness, this mysterious illness. Oh,
it's an upper body respiratory illness. Okay, that narrows it down, gotcha, Okay,
but just want everyone know it's non COVID, just not COVID. Oh,
(42:43):
appreciate it. Any other details maybe COVID related do you
want to throw in there, like maybe you know, some
side effects from some certain decisions that you force people
to make. I'm I'm just trying to figure this out.
I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this,
what's going on with that? But currently all of that aside,
the big story was the celebration last night in New York.
(43:06):
I mean, man, I just this, all these years, I
was led to believe something else. But the good news
is there is a uh a portion of this that
is beneficial to another fan base, because there's another fan
base that's off the hook. Because I'll just tell you
(43:28):
right now, somebody that's gotten buried, especially recently, has been
the Dallas Cowboys fan base. They've been buried because people
love to point out the fact that, man, the Dallas
Cowboys haven't done this. It's been X amount of years
since you won a championship. It's been X amount of
(43:50):
years since you've got past the second round. It's been this,
it's been that, It's been all these things. Oh, America's
team my ass. You're like, oh god, you know what.
The people show up to ox Start and they camp
out there and the Cowboys take over California and the
Cowboys got all these primetime games. Yeah, but they're not
any good. People just want to see the lad they're
(44:12):
gonna get blood. It's like, I mean, I hear all
this little trust me, I've partaken in some of it.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
Settle in just a little bit. Jerry.
Speaker 1 (44:19):
Wait, I'm not even Jerry, I'm on your side.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
No, I don't have the patience to jack.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
Wait, you either, and based on your past, I wouldn't
jack with anybody. But if I'm gonna be honest here,
I feel like, based on the celebrations last night, Cowboys
fans are off the hook because here's one thing I
(44:46):
do know, because it's been In fact, it's been longer
since the Cowboys had been to a conference championship game
then the Knicks have been to a conference championship. It's
been longer. I can guarantee you if the Cowboys finally
got past the second round, they wouldn't be climbing billboards
(45:12):
and jumping on limos in downtown Dallas, I guarantee you,
because that's beneath them, like this is about super Bowls,
like Jerry wants another super Bowl. So all the stuff
(45:35):
that people And look, there's probably I would say eighty
ninety maybe ninety five percent of Knicks fans are probably
like Giants or Jets fans. They probably don't like the Cowboys.
They probably can't stand the Cowboys. You are never allowed
to criticize the Cowboys ever again, ever, ever, ever, ever,
(45:55):
because I can guarantee you that fan base would not
celebrate a second round advancing in the playoffs like that.
They would not, They just wouldn't. I'm sorry. That was
over the top, man, that was over the top. And
it's just nobody like you've got. I mean, Steven A.
(46:18):
Smith is like almost in tears, and you've got all
these oh my god, you do know what it's like
you got you have. Nobody knows what it's like to
have been a Knicks fan. Oh no, no, like we do.
We also know what it's like to not behave like one.
Damn we know that too. Like trust me, we we
(46:38):
where where. I mean, it was over the top. So
when I see like, you know, Nick's fans celebrating this
and all the you know, criticism as their fan bases
have gotten for the way they man, listen, everybody's off
the hook based on what I saw last night, everybody. Now,
(46:59):
the one thing I would say, I think I think
we have seen there something shut last night. I don't
know if anybody heard there. There was a loud shutting
of something like there was something shut really fast. It's
like when you go to a you miss the handle
on the door, but the wind shuts it behind you
and it kind of, oh, startles you a little bit.
That shutting was the championship window for the Celtics. That
(47:22):
happened last night too. Yeah, that's that's done. Hell of
a run. Their payroll is astronomical. Jason Tatum's probably out
for the entirety of next year. They're not winning a
title next year, that's for sure. And now the conversation becomes, well,
Al Horford maybe he retires, maybe he doesn't. Drew Holiday's
(47:43):
probably gone. Christophs porzingis who the f knows, who knows,
So you've got monster contracts tied up into one guy
that's not going to play next year and another guy
that just had an awful playoffs. Who compared losing to
the next like death going out on a limb here.
(48:05):
I wouldn't say that. I wouldn't say that, but if
there was death, it was probably death of the championship window.
They had a hell of a run since Jalen Brown
and Jason Tatum have gotten there. I think six of
nine years they were in the conference finals or the finals,
(48:28):
won your championship like it was a great run, but ultimately,
the injury, the payroll, how last night went, the porzingis
the age of the other players. It was a decent run.
They gave it a go. But it does feel like
this window, this championship window for that franchise is over.
(48:48):
It's over. But again, I'll give them credit because when
they got past the second round of the playoffs last year,
I'm not sure that anybody was jumping up on top
of t Bank North Garden or the Boston Garden or
whatever they're calling it now. I'm just just guessing. I'm
just guessing some people celebrate like actual championships, and then
(49:10):
you know, some people celebrate, you know, winning a gumball
out of a quarter machine in front of a kmart
somewhere to each their own. By the way, we do
have some positive feedback here on the show. People are
really really fired up about exactly what has happened here
on the show thus far. You've got Ethan, who writes
(49:34):
in I'm ready for another two hours of cowboys ball washing.
The Bears might have a four thousand yard passer before
you have a good take. Go back to your roots
with pro wrestler or porn star. You bitch. Michael writes
in what a condescending seasucker you are today. I'm a
(49:57):
fifty four year old Knicks fan and I was very
happy last night. I get it some people go overboard,
but that rant you just did labeling all the Knicks
fans like that, give me a break. Effing buzzkill, csucker.
Speaker 4 (50:12):
You are.
Speaker 1 (50:18):
Not to be out done by Fletcher, who writes in
bitch boy, Joni just recycling all your takes from your
raggedy ass weekday show. Two a holes and a cup
of bleep. Go get a bleep from Jordan's mom sex
shop and shove it up your bleep, you piece of
bleep at the Jonas Knox on X. That is at
(50:42):
the Jonas Knox on X And you can also see
all of those for yourself on the Instagram page. Just
go to the stories up there at Jonas Knock Show
on Instagram. You can see all of the unedited versions
of all of those tweets that were sent in a
short time ago. Coming up here, though, we are going
to tell you about a story we were told and
(51:07):
the actual story that took place. It's NFL related and
it's yours right here on FSR Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up a little over ten minutes from now here.
This should be a no brainer. There should be zero
pushback to it. It should go through easily without any
(51:30):
discussion whatsoever in the National Football League. Yet for some reason,
I feel like there might be some people who don't
really like the idea. We'll get into that for you
again a little over ten minutes from now here on FSR.
SO a week ago, the big story when we were
on the air, and it happened before we came on
(51:51):
the air, but the big story that we led with
and discussed was the announcement that Derek Carr was retiring
from the NFL. So he had just ided, that's it,
I'm retiring from the league. That'll be that. I'm gonna
move on with my life. And everyone kind of took
it and said, wow, that's hey. I had a good career,
(52:13):
made a bunch of money. Good dude, respected teammates, love him,
so on and so forth. Hey, great run. I saw
the story and thought, something seems off. And something seemed
off based on the fact that we've heard rumblings maybe
(52:34):
things weren't okay in New Orleans between Derek Carr and
the organization. You know, we heard some rumblings maybe things
weren't okay. And so my thought on it, and I
went on the air and said, I just I don't
think Derek Carr wanted to be in New Orleans anymore.
I think he wanted to keep playing football. It just
wasn't with the Saints. And I got a bunch of
(52:59):
blowback for that on social media. You're crazy, what are
you talking about? You're this, You're that, like all, you know,
just the usuals h from Jeremy Fowler and Catherine Tarrell
of ESPN. A Derek Carr representative spoke with at least
(53:27):
two teams in the market for a quarterback about potential
interest in the veteran, according to three league sources, while
one of their sources classified the contact as indirect, both
front offices were made aware that Derek Carr might be
(53:47):
looking for a new playing home, and this was done
before he announced his retirement. Yeah yeah, but hey, hey,
what the hell do I know? He just, you know,
he had had enough? What do I know? The report
(54:09):
also goes on to talk about this shoulder injury that
he's dealing with, and everybody admits that, you know, he
is injured, but you know, it's a little strange because
reportedly the shoulder injury never appeared on the injury report
during the entire season. A team source said that Car
through a routine physical at the end of the season
like all the other players on the roster, that no
(54:31):
issues were voiced about the shoulder and that's why, according
to a player and team sources, questions and curiosity linger
among some of the Saints building about the injury that
inspired Carr's retirement. Dude, how much more do you need
to see? He just didn't want to be there, And
(54:54):
whether there was teams that were interested. Clearly they reached out.
I don't even know if the Saints gave him permission
to reach out, but they reached out. Whether there were
teams that were interested, and whether it's like, look, nobody
is questioning whether or not the guy was injured. Like
nobody's doing that, Like, well, yeah, they acknowledge he's injured
(55:16):
to what extent? And my point last week was, hey, man, yeah,
maybe he's injured. And I know that surgery would mean
a certain timeline, you know, four to six months. We
heard if he rehabs and comes back, he'll be at
like seventy five percent potentially. But I'm I mean, I
(55:37):
said it last week. If he was in a better
situation or a different situation, he probably rehabs or tries
to get the surgery. The fact of the matter is
he didn't want to be there anymore. And you know,
they go on to talk about and Jeremy Fowler and
Catherine Trell did a great job breaking this down. They
go on to talk about, well, you know, he was
(55:58):
very fond of the previous coaching staff and had great
relationships there, and so maybe that's what the problem was.
You know, there's there's been some questions about that he
wasn't really happy about, you know, maybe the direction of
the organization. There was another report, I think Jeff Novak,
who covers the Saints there locally reported earlier in the
(56:19):
week that yeah, you know, he, like Kellen Moore, is
like the brand new coach. Derek Carr never talked to
him at all the entire offseason. It's been a couple
of months at least, never talked to him. Minimal contact
with other players there, Like wouldn't you think if a
(56:39):
new coach is there and you're the quarterback, there'd at
least be a dialogue or a discussion. But wasn't really
around much. Wasn't really like they're just it's like, dude,
he didn't want to be there. And people can say, well,
you know, there's other stuff going on, and I totally
get in total respect and and you know, thoughts and
(57:00):
prayers to them dealing with that, you know, miscarried like
all that. Totally agree. It's terrible. But it also is
the fact that he reached out to other teams before
deciding to retire, which would lead you to believe that
if one of those other teams had shown interest maybe
(57:21):
he wouldn't have retired. And if you wouldn't have retired,
you just go back to ground zero and say, oh, yeah,
he just didn't want to be there anymore. Like and
that was my point last week. I was like, dude, like,
there's enough. Like it'd be one thing if this just
(57:42):
happened in a vacuum, just decided to walk away, But
when it's in the same offseason as all of these
other stories that popped up, and there were little bits
and pieces that started to show up, and then you
see this report on and you go, yeah, none of
this really totally added up. None of it really seemed
(58:04):
like it was just your simple, cut and dry guy
just didn't want to play football anymore. No, he actually did.
How do we know that? Because he reached out to
at least two other teams to see if they were interested.
He just didn't want to be there anymore. And there's
nothing wrong with that. It's just when you're fed a
(58:24):
different story and you're told and then you talk about
it and people say, oh, well you're this you don't
know what you're talking okay, Like how much more Like
when the story first came out that he had a
shoulder issue that popped up and he might miss the
entirety of the season. On this show that day, I said, yeah,
(58:46):
this just feels like one of those things where somebody's
telling you something and you're like, hm, not, why don't
I believe that? Like your buddy shows up with a
black eye and a busted lip, and it's like, what happened? Oh?
I was shaving with? What a wood chipper? What were
you shaving with? Like? Like, what what did you decide
(59:10):
to shave with a John Deere? What happened to your face?
Speaker 3 (59:14):
Dude?
Speaker 1 (59:16):
Like, he just didn't want to be there. Just call
whatever we want. He just didn't want to be there.
Maybe he comes back and decides he's gonna play again,
Maybe he doesn't, Maybe he gets a surgery. It's like okay,
And Brady Quinn made a great point earlier this week
when we talked about it. He's like, well, if he's retiring,
(59:37):
wouldn't you think like he's probably going to get the
surgery if it means like, you know, better quality alive,
He's going to get the surgery anyways, right, So what's
the what's the different? I mean, what do we The
story just didn't add up and it still doesn't add
up so much so the people in the same building
are trying to look for answers. Still, yeah, the injury
(59:58):
when it came out all it just doesn't really make
any sense. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the
Jonas Knox on X at the Jonas Knox on X
and you can find us on Instagram at Jonas Knox Show.
So coming up next here, this should be a slam dunk.
There should be no debate, there should be no confusion.
It's an NFL story. It impacts all of you. We'll
(01:00:20):
give you the details on that coming up right here
on FSR. But for all the laters from around the
world of sports, a man who right now is wearing
his Derek Carr Number four Saints jersey, the one and
only Martin White Jonahs.
Speaker 4 (01:00:34):
You know the worst quarterback head coach combination in terms
of winning percentage of say, like minimum.
Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
Twenty games played.
Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
Oh, what's that?
Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
That'd be Dennis Allen and Derek Carr. You know what
it is for minimum thirty games played? What's that Derek
and Dennis Car Dennis Allen and Derek Carr, And you
know what it is for like fifty I'll give you.
Speaker 1 (01:00:51):
A guess, Dennis Allen, Derek Carr.
Speaker 4 (01:00:54):
Yeah, I look this up. They're up there in terms
of the worst winning percentage of all time, and part
of it is because they were giving so many opportunities
to do so, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:01:05):
Mart Martin, did you buy this story from the jump?
Makes sense to me? I'm sorry, dude, Like, none of
it makes sense.
Speaker 3 (01:01:11):
Honestly.
Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
What never made sense to me was why in week thirteen,
Derek Carr is jumping over somebody on the giant sideline
and landed on that shoulder.
Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
And I was like, you know what, that was dumb.
Why'd you do that? Because you were seven yards short
of a first down.
Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
Anyway, And so then when he got hurt, I was like,
you know, that makes sense, but the idea that he
didn't want.
Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
To get the surgery or whatever.
Speaker 4 (01:01:36):
Honestly, Jonas, sometimes you just don't look at gift to
hors in the mouse like, I'm you know, bottom it
out right now and it's going to be ugly and
dark in the woman that has been there before.
Speaker 1 (01:01:47):
But look, and I said this last week, I was like, man,
it feels like the actual window for the Saints closed
a few years back if at this point, dude, start
Tyler Schuck and go from there, like see what you
got in him? And if all else fails, maybe you'll
end up with the number one pick in Archman and
(01:02:07):
comes back home. Maybe there's that.
Speaker 3 (01:02:10):
I mean, I was saying that I worked the other day.
Speaker 4 (01:02:12):
I just it's something freeing about the team that you're
root for knowing it has no opportunity for success.
Speaker 1 (01:02:17):
Oh yeah, why stress out? Yeah? Of course with you.
Speaker 4 (01:02:21):
Man, the best chance to have is I'll be like
a Week seventeen spoiler and make somebody instead of winning
the division, making my wild card and have to go
on the road. Like that's the best chance. Yeah, all right,
Just let's get to the news. Other day, the New
York Liberty beat the Vegas Aces ninety to seventy six.
Let's see, uh that Kelsey Plump had thirty seven points
(01:02:41):
in her LA Sparks debut. That's the most by any
w NBA player in the season opener, beating the New
Golden State franchise eighty four to sixty seven. And today
Brown and Stewart had twenty five points as that Liberty
beat the Aces at twenty five points for Brown of
Stewart to Klaushah Cloud.
Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
With twenty two. The ACE is led by Angel Wilson
and her thirty one points.
Speaker 4 (01:03:01):
Ajan Wilson, obviously multiple MV time MVP in the league.
Rock Party and San Francisco have agreed to a five year,
two hundred sixty five million dollars deal, including one hundred
and eighty one million dollars guaranteed. Party only earned two
point sixty million dollars in his first three seasons. That
made him the seventy sixth highest paid quarterback in that time.
(01:03:22):
The Baltimore Orioles getting ready to get started here against
the Washington Nationals. They'll be without manager Brandon Hyde after
he was fired. Baltimore fifteen to twenty eight, ten and
a half games back of the first place Yankees. Tony
Masalino will move from the third base coach to the
interim manager. Those Yankees in the middle of a Subway
series right now, with the New York Mets two to
(01:03:44):
two in the eighth inning with one on, two out
top of the eighth inning, My home runs for the
Yankees from DJ Lemayhew and Cody Bellinger p's Alonzo with
an RBI double. The Cubs lead the White Sox four
to two and the fourth inning with two on. Bottom
of the fourth inning there and Spencer Porkosen has a
whole home run as the Tigers have a one nothing
margin over the Blue Jays in the bottom.
Speaker 3 (01:04:04):
Of the second Jonas back to you, Thank you, Martin.
Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
Jonas Knox. Here Fox Sports Radio coming up fifteen minutes
from now, We're going to close up shop with the
scraps things in the world of sports and beyond we
have not had a chance to get to. That will
be yours here on FSR. Troy writes in, Hey, Antonio Brown,
do us all a favor and put a cap in
this cracker Jonas Knox hands down the greatest cracker of
(01:04:31):
all time. I mean, listen, you know Antonio Brown lives
a wildlife man. I mean I want to tell you,
I I you know, you never quite sure what's gonna
happen with Antonio Brown. I've said it before. I mean,
would I would love to be at least nominated for
a Cracker of the Day or year. So if anybody
(01:04:52):
knows Antonio Brown, reach out to him, Troy, I mean,
you apparently have a direct line of communication, reach out
to him. A big fan of that Booby writes in
how does Fox Sports Radio let you in this time slot?
They should put your stale takes on from midnight to
two am because you are the Taco Bell of sports
(01:05:13):
talk radio. That's insulting. Everything else before that I'm fine with.
But that's insulting. Right, that is insulting. I got news
for you. The in laws would not be happy with
you calling me. In fact, that's slightly offensive. To be
(01:05:33):
honest with you like that is slightly offensive. So to
compare me to Taco Bell, it's a bit below the belt.
But the way things go here on this show, apparently
that's going to be allowed at the Jonas Knocks on
X and you can get us on the Instagram page
at Jonas knock Show. So I was thinking about this
(01:05:55):
because this seems like a pretty obvious thing that should
be happening. Should be pretty obvious, a no brainer. The
new potential playoff seating proposal that will be discussed this
upcoming week in Minneapolis. Right, so this is going to
happen in Minnesota at the NFL's owners meetings. Albert Brier
(01:06:19):
reporting that the owners are expected to vote on the
new playoff seating format. It could have been voted on
again in March, but it was tabled until now. And
the idea is same. Seven teams get into the postseason.
You've got your four division winners, you've got your three
wild cards, but it goes by best record. So if
a wildcard team has a better record than a division winner,
(01:06:44):
the division winner is still a playoff team, but doesn't
make them the home team. So you flip that. So
now the seating will be best record and not division
winners first and then the wild cards afterwards. And look,
we saw that play out this year where we had
green Bay, you had Minnesota as a wildcard team and
(01:07:05):
going on the road. Like you saw teams having to
go on the road they probably shouldn't have gone on
the road underneath this format, And this to me feels
like a no brainer. It feels fair. Yet the pushback
is going to be from NFL owners who are going
to want to put a premium on winning the division,
(01:07:26):
which is awesome, Hey, you win your division, great, here's
your reward, a playoff spot you automatically get in. But
the idea that a nine to eight team should host
a playoff game against an eleven and six team or
a twelve and five team just because they played in
(01:07:49):
an inferior division makes no sense at any level whatsoever.
And this was kicked about in March. We talked about
it then and nothing got passed. So now they kick
the can down the road again. Here we go. It's
coming up this week. It feels like this should be
a no brainer. The one that's gotten all the debate
and all the discussion and all the conversation and has
(01:08:10):
gotten the most coverage has been the tush push. And
I don't know if it's because we've got a bunch
of horn dogs who're just like saying the name, a
bunch of kinky NFL fans whore just like saying that stuff.
I have no idea. Hey it's a tush push. Oh
forget about that. Who cares about the tushpush? How about
reseting the playoffs? It's dumb. Nobody can reasonably explain why
(01:08:33):
a team with a worse record should host a playoff game.
I'm sorry. I know the owners want that playoff revenue
and they want it in their own building. I know it.
I know they want to make winning the division be
rewarded it is with a playoff spot. But this one
makes no sense at all. This is right up there
(01:08:54):
with losing the ball out of bounds in the end zone,
and not only do you lose possession, the other team
gets it and they get it at the twenty. This
should be a note way. We should all be in
unison on this. Yet, if it got denied or tabled
one time, I just wonder if they're gonna do it again,
or they're gonna say, you know, we'll revisit this next year.
(01:09:16):
We'll look into this next year. No, get it done now.
It doesn't make sense. And if you're so fixated on
hosting a home playoff game, and that's that's really the
reward that owners want, then have a better regular season
at home and on the road, and that'll happen for you.
But instead you've got teams with better records who are
(01:09:39):
in tougher divisions having to go on the road like
Minnesota and get displaced and all that. Like, in no
rational mind anywhere watching football does that seem fair. Yeah,
for whatever reason, the NFL has been doing it that way.
So they'll get another opportunity to right the wrong. They'll
get an opportunity to right the wrong this upcome week
(01:10:00):
in Minnesota, at the owner's meetings when they're having these discussions.
But I just get this weird feeling that it's going
to be like one of those things that happens in
the NFL. It seems obvious to everybody watching, yet they're
going to find a reason not to implement it. Jonas
Knox here Fox Sports Radio, at the Jonas Knocks on
X at the Jonas Knox on X and again you
can find us on the Instagram page at Jonas Knox Show.
(01:10:23):
Coming up next though, we close up shop with another
edition of the Scraps. It's things in the world of
sports and beyond we have not had a chance to
get to yet, and they're yours here on FSR. Jonas Knox,
Fox Sports Radio. Coming up. We'll call it about fifteen
minutes from now. Make sure you stick around here on
(01:10:45):

who will be taking over these airwaves. They'll have you
covered here again fifteen minutes from now, top of the
hour here on FSR. A reminder, though, if you've missed

with the Scraps, a Saturday tradition as well. Too on

also follow, rate and review the pod. Again, just search
Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts. You'll see
this show posted right after we get off the air.
I will also tweet out a link to the pod
as well too. I'd encourage you to check it out.
We talk about a sports drug addict relapsing, and we
(01:11:30):
talk about a quarterback who got a lot of flack
but ultimately was right in the NFL. So all of
that will be on the pod there for you after
we go off the air, and again I'll tweet that
out at the Jonas Knox and make sure you follow
along on the Instagram page as well too, at Jonas
Knox Show on IG. That is, at Jonas knock Show
(01:11:50):
on IG. All the insulting tweets have been posted in
the IG stories there, so at Jonas Knox Show on Instagram.
Right now, it's time for this.
Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
Many stories in the world of sports, and most of
them are a complete waste of.
Speaker 3 (01:12:04):
Time DMG reports.
Speaker 1 (01:12:06):
Let's get kinky.
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
Here's some of the big stories from the last week,
but Jonas, the real question is do you care?
Speaker 1 (01:12:15):
And for that we turn it over to our executive
producer Bo Benson to find out what the hell we've
missed so far in the show.
Speaker 3 (01:12:21):
Get my boys going crazy?
Speaker 6 (01:12:25):
Sorry, yeah, that's right.
Speaker 1 (01:12:27):
Uh, And we'll clean it up in the podcast.
Speaker 6 (01:12:29):
That's fine, you know, it's all good. This is the
Marconi episode. We're all good.
Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:12:33):
The Boston Red Sox yesterday they revealed their new city
connect jerseys, uh, drawing inspiration from the famous green Monster
at Finnway Park there. And I don't know if you
saw them, but I think they're like the ideal version
of what the MLB City Connects should be.
Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
Okay, because I did see him briefly. Let me just
double with check because I did it because they were
just giant green jersey. Do those are bad? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:12:57):
No, it when you say city connect, it's it's like
it should have something to do with the city. And
the green Monster is probably one of the more famous
locations in the city of Boston, by the way.
Speaker 1 (01:13:08):
You know, it's a great detail to it as well too.
The numbers are the shaped and the same font and
shape of the numbers they use on the score. Yeah,
the green Monster.
Speaker 6 (01:13:20):
Where the Nike tag is on the bottom right of
the jersey. There, they've got the the balls and strike
lights there. They're great. I love them. I might have
to buy a hat, I'm not sure, but more teams
should take note of what the Red Sox did here.
Speaker 1 (01:13:35):
By the way, there's nobody that's more of a sucker
for city connect or New Jersey design or apparel designs
than Bo Bentz.
Speaker 6 (01:13:43):
Yeah. Love the uniform stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
Love it. Yeah, it's h Look, yeah, not bad. I've seen. Look,
no offense, you know, no offense to uh, you know,
to anybody who may happen to be listening on the
blowtorch and five to seventy LA Sports, the home of
the Dodgers. But those city cannects last year were brutal.
Speaker 6 (01:14:03):
Ye they crowing back this year Too've already wore him again.
Speaker 1 (01:14:06):
Yeah, yeah, so that's what. Look, I if I were
the Dodgers, you want to flex on some teams, you
know what their city connect should have been. They should
have been the gold ones they wore the opening game
of the season.
Speaker 6 (01:14:16):
Yeah, I do. I do think they should wear those
year round. If every team that wins the World Series
should get to wear that jersey the entire year, not
just the opening season series.
Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
It's awesome. But yeah, good for the Reds. I like those.
Speaker 6 (01:14:25):
Yeah, they're cool. They're bad. The sticking in baseball the
Baltimore Orioles this morning, they fired their manager, Brandon Hyde
after their slow start of the season, which I honestly
did not realize they were as bad as they have
been record wise. Yeah, no kids here.
Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
So let me get this straight. Hasn't he done a
good job there?
Speaker 6 (01:14:43):
Yeah? Like it's it's kind of premature, and it's really
not his fault, like as as Buster only mentioned, like,
he's not the one that didn't go sign a starting
pitcher in the offseason.
Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
Yeah, I'm just I'm looking at there because I know
that he led a big turnaround for them. So they
won ninety one games last year, one hundred and one
the year before. Eighty three. Dude, he's not a good job. Yeah,
Like what is so forty three games in and.
Speaker 6 (01:15:10):
He gets clipped, especially in baseball where you're fifteen to
twenty eight, but you can get to five hundred by
the All Star break and then it's basically an entire
new season. The Braves started what like, oh to eight,
and they're above five hundred now, so yeah, yeah, it's
at least.
Speaker 1 (01:15:25):
Get to the All Star Break, yeah, God's sakes, or
get to the trade or something. Yeah, this seems this
seems a little abrupt. I was also thinking and speaking
of coaches getting fired, man if Denver and it's going
to be a long shot, but if Denver does beat
Oklahoma City tomorrow and get to the Western Conference Finals,
(01:15:46):
like I might have to go back into the system
and delete my what the hell are they doing firing
Mike Colone segment, because that that's got to be a
brutal thing to have. If you're Mike Malone, you're looking
around going, oh, yeah, see if you can do it
without me? And all the done is improved And now
there are one game away from going back to the
Western Conference Finals and they were looking at the play
in when he was still there, So yeah, not a
(01:16:09):
fun place to be.
Speaker 6 (01:16:09):
What else you got, Well, it's that time of the year.
There are rumors circulating about which NFL player will don
the cover of Madden NFL twenty six. No surprise here,
but the rumors do appear as though Saquon Barkley is
going to be your Madden twenty six cover.
Speaker 1 (01:16:24):
Ooh, I would have thought they would have gone maybe
Jaden Daniels maybe on the cover.
Speaker 6 (01:16:31):
There will probably be like the you know, ultimate edition
that costs one hundred and twenty dollars that features both
of them. They've liked to do that recently. But yeah,
I mean, Saquon's a no brainer. I would so the
popular idea is the backwards hurdle. But if I'm the
Jags player that got jumped over like that and they
put me on the cover of Madden, like I'm fighting
(01:16:52):
somebody who I'm sorry?
Speaker 1 (01:16:54):
So And also I don't know if Saquon Barkley gets
any sort of a pay or it gets any sort
of a bone this for being on the cover. But
if they include the guy who got jumped over like that,
shouldn't he get something? Yeah, It's like if you're if
you're selling you know, posters of a guy getting dunked
on in the NBA, the guy getting dunked on should.
Speaker 6 (01:17:12):
Get a cut of that.
Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
Like, you know, enough's enough here, like just just I mean,
he got dunked on and he's not getting paid, Like
I don't do do the Madden cover guys get any
sort of a check Do they get any sort of
a residual from that at some point? I mean I
would assume they have have to the least they could do.
They had a stretch where every gay that went on
was getting in.
Speaker 6 (01:17:32):
Players. Players do not receive direct compensation for their inclusion
in the game.
Speaker 1 (01:17:36):
What a pain in the ass. But yeah, you know
that's that is terrible, and you know it's and these
guys aren't getting paid enough.
Speaker 6 (01:17:43):
No, that's yeah, brock Purty, he needs more money after
I agree.
Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
I'm with you.
Speaker 6 (01:17:49):
What else the I don't know if you've seen anything,
but the promotion for the new Mission Impossible movie is
in full gear. As this looks as to be Tom
Cruise's last ride. He tried to make it his last
last ride for real. I don't know if you saw
this last week. He just kind of randomly appeared on
the top of a London movie theater and just hung
out up there for a little bit and waved at
(01:18:09):
all the fans that were taking pictures. Yeah, I mean,
I think it will have done to him being Tom
Cruise and kind of doing what he wants. I think
it turned out to be like a video he was filming.
But yeah, just the image of Tom Cruise appearing on
top of a movie theater is pretty cool to me.
Speaker 1 (01:18:23):
Is he still doing his own stunt?
Speaker 4 (01:18:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:18:25):
I think so.
Speaker 1 (01:18:26):
How old is he?
Speaker 6 (01:18:28):
He's a young sixty, I believe, yep, what like he's
got six o'od he's still doing his own stunt.
Speaker 1 (01:18:36):
Look, First of all, I still haven't forgiven him for
his behavior during COVID. All right, not not you know,
any sort, but just like the way he aired out
that guy on the set who apparently violated protocol or whatever.
I thought was kind of douchey, But I mean good
for him. Honest admission here, I've never seen an entire
mission Impossible movie. I've never seen the.
Speaker 3 (01:18:57):
Entirety of it.
Speaker 1 (01:18:58):
It's just too unrealistic for me. It's like that's the
guy from rain Man. I just can't picture him jumping
off buildings. I'm sorry, a little bit too much for me.
I don't know what to tell you.
Speaker 3 (01:19:08):
Shonas son of a bitch,
