From the tirag dot com Fox Sports Radio Studios, here's
Jonas Knocks.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Okay, I'm in portless world. You know we can all
(00:48):
agree on it. We can say it should be fixed.
It's not appropriate, it's not right, it's not correct, and
all of it won't meet a damn thing because it's
never gonna get changed. I'll tell you what it is
coming up here in just a couple of moments from now,
Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You can listen to this
show as always on the iHeartRadio app. You can find

way tire buying should be. So there's been a lot
of discussion about what's going to play out and what's
going to happen in the aftermath of the finale of
the regular season, which is Sunday Night Football between the
Lions and the Vikings, where you got a couple of
(01:54):
fourteen win teams dueling it out in primetime for the
right to be the number one seed in the NFC,
have home field advantage, get the bye week, etc. Etc.
And there's a little bit of a problem now. First
and foremost, an amazing, amazing turnaround considering two years ago
(02:17):
the Lions were in this exact same spot on Sunday
Night Football at lambeau Field and ended Aaron Rodgers' career
as a Packer by knocking them out of the postseason
when the Lions didn't have really anything to play for
because Seattle had already clinched earlier in the day. So
to see that they're two years removed from that and
(02:38):
here they are with an opportunity to be the one
seed in the NFC. Kind of a wild turn of
events for the Detroit Lions, and you're happy for the organization,
but there's you know, kind of an issue if they
lose all of a sudden, this magical, amazing year will
(03:01):
result in the five seed. So while we could sit
here and say, man, it's all on the line, well yeah,
sure is, it's also all on the line for the
losing team, which is gonna have to go on the road. Now,
you would take your chances if you're that team and
you get you know, matched up against a Tampa Bay
or the rent like whatever it is. But now the
(03:22):
discussion becomes, what should they do about the playoff format?
This isn't right. That's a fourteen win team, whoever loses
that game that's gonna have to all of a sudden
go on the road in the first round of the postseason. Look,
we can all agree, like we could all sit here
and agree on that, it's not right. Am and Ross
(03:44):
Saint Brown goes on his podcast he said, it's not fair.
They need to do something about it. We listen, I
totally agree. This is a pretty simple fix. If you
ask me. This is the way it should work. If
the division winner with the worst record allah the four
seed has a worse record than the five seed, then
(04:07):
the five seed gets to host that game. I mean,
it's just that, Like that's easy, like just that simple,
quick fix, no problem at all. Here's the issue. It's
never going to happen. It's not happening because you want
to be able to put a premium and you want
to be able to sell. How winning a division is
(04:31):
one of the most important things, and it is really important.
But when you're a division like I don't know, the
NFC South or the AFC South, and for the most part,
when you look around that division it's a bag of vomit.
It kind of loses its luster a little bit. But
you still want to be able to sell the division
(04:52):
champ hats and all that stuff. So while we can
sit here and agree that the loser of this game
in primetime on Sunday night is getting the shaft, and
they are from a scheduling standpoint, it's never gonna happen.
They want to celebrate division championships, they want to celebrate
division titles, and so the NFL is going to continue
(05:14):
to push this playoff format and down our throats and
we're just gonna have to eat it. So if you
are the Vikings and you're the Lions, and yeah, you've
been the two best teams in the conference, and you're
gonna have to duel it out and what should be
a great game on Sunday night football, your season may
(05:34):
come down to the fact that the NFL's got a
goofy scheduling setup when it comes to the playoffs, and
who the hell knows if you go listen, this happened
years ago. The Saints were probably a better team than
the Seahawks, but Seattle won a division. The Saints had
to go to Seattle to play that game, and that's
(05:55):
when Marshawn Lynch had the runs. Seattle upset him, and
next thing you know, New Orleans is going home with
no home playoff game. So it's not a foregone conclusion
that whoever is the five seed ends up knocking off
the four seed. We've seen it happen before. To where
that home playoff game and that home field advantage counts,
you would give them the advantage. But as it stands
(06:17):
right now, the losers of that game is going to
get the cheft because the NFL does this and they're
probably not changing at anytime soon. Jonas Knox he or
Fox Sports Radio. Now, let's talk about a flattering moment
in the NFL. Flattering you see how many people are
interviewing for the Jets openings. I mean like prominent people,
(06:42):
like people you either see on TV or like the
biggest coaching candidates out there. I mean, look, Mike Rabel
is the guy this offseason, probably the most popular head
coach candidate next to Ben Johnson. Mike Rabel's that guy.
Mike Rabel has just interviewed for the New York Jets. Reportedly,
that happened Friday. Rex Ryan is next in line. He's
(07:08):
going to be interviewing for the Jets job. You've got
Lewis Rittick, who's already interviewed for the GM vacancy. Mike
Tannenbaum's helping in the search. He's on TV. Like, if
you are the Jets and you're a Jets fan, you
(07:29):
got to be looking around going what a world. Everybody
wants to be a part of this organization. This is amazing.
It's like a guy at his bachelor party. It's getting
all the attention in the world. My god, Like, can
you believe this? I got news for you, buddy. If
(07:51):
you weren't getting married, they'd be asking you to clean
up the table, thinking you were a bus boy. This
is the the best it's gonna get for the Jets
this offseason, and it ain't even close. And that's just
the facts. Who the f would want that job? Knowing
(08:15):
everything you know about that owner and all the stuff
that has come out this season about how things operate there.
Do you think if Mike Frable has a choice, all
things being equal, between the Jets and fill in the blank,
(08:35):
you don't think he would prefer to go elsewhere? Like
you don't think like Rex Ryan's interviewing for the Jets job.
What other jobs is he interviewing for? Oh? That's right, hey,
But look at all these TV analysts guys on TV
they're like, doesn't this fit the narrative and discussion about
(08:58):
the Jets, and that Woodie Johnson and really really like
focuses on what they say about them in the media,
and Woody Johnson really focused, like he really cares about
that stuff. For Christ's sake. He's got one son named Jack,
another name Brick, and they use a guy by the
name of Madden to evaluate players. You can't make this
(09:22):
stuff up. So when you see like all these big
names and all these it's like, oh my god, like
who would what? Dude? Like, come on, Frabel's going through
the interview process because he's creating a market for himself.
(09:42):
But why if you've got options, would you choose that place?
And it's not an indictment on the on the fan base.
It's not an indictment on the players there. They've got
good players there. They've got a good roster. Joe Douglas
did a pretty good job building that roster. You know.
He was fired and was so bummed out about it.
(10:03):
Fifteen minutes later he was fishing off a pier drinking
a beer like, bab I'm cool whatever, see you Like,
this is not an indictment. It's an indictment on the
infrastructure there, Like how many it's one thing if like, hey,
this one, you know, rogue employee or bitter employee. He
(10:26):
came out and he spoke with Diana Rossini of the
athletic and he said all these things about the organizations,
like oh, okay, that guy's just pissed he got fired
or whatever. Nah, who cares about that, dude. We're talking
like twenty sources within the organization, like everybody around whatdy
Johnson's talking to everybody telling you what a clown show
it is. And you've got the Jets like posting updates.
(10:51):
We've we've put together our coaching search and we're already
starting things here. Rex Ryan's in the building today, Mike
Rable was here yesterday. Lewis Rinneck interviewed earlier this week.
It's like, okay, all right, hey guys, you know everybody
file in. You go through that exit. It's right next
to the popcorn machine. There's also a guy riding around
(11:15):
on a unicycle flipping bowling pins up in the air.
You've got a guy looks a lot like Seacreed and
Roy and minus the missing throat. He's got a lion
and a tiger that's going to jump through a hoop. Like,
don't worry about it. Listen, welcome to the Jets. It's
not the circus. Everybody says it is. Okay, here meet
the family. Jack and Bricker in the other room playing
(11:40):
video games, trying to help build the roster. What the
f like? If you've got options, why are you going there,
it's like the Panthers job. Like I commend Dave Canalis,
who anybody who's talked about Dave Canal says he is
the nicest guy, most optimistic, positive, upbeat guy in the world,
(12:04):
Like the most positive, upbeat guy in the world. And
he's done a tremendous job with Bryce Young and rebuilding
his confidence. And Bryce Young's played the best football of
his career. But let's be honest here, after seeing what
happened to the previous coaches that were there, how many
guys who are knowing the business and have other options
(12:26):
or looking at the Panthers and going oh yeah, hell
yeah yeah. I mean the Zach Rosenblatt had a big
deep dive on Mike Rabel's offseason. Mike Rabel could have
interviewed for the Panthers' job last year. He might have
even kicked the tires on it and then realized, yeah,
we're good here, thank you, thank you all good here.
(12:47):
So everything I needed to see. So while we could
sit here and talk about, hey, the Jets are interviewing
this guy and that guy, and this guy's in the building,
I got news for you. This is the best it's
going to get I would be shocked if Mike Rabel
said yes to that job. Rex Ryan would be awesome.
I like Rex Ryan. It's been you know how deprived
(13:10):
we are as football fans, like we get everything in
the NFL. It's been years. We are starving for a
head coach with a foot fetish. We gotta have it
and he'll give it to us. So I hope Rex
Ryan gets a job and by the way, did a
(13:30):
damn good job while he was there, because other than that,
I don't know who the hell would want to go
to a place which single handedly chased off Bill Parcells
and Bill Belichick, you know, two of the greatest to
ever do it. Jonas Knox Here Fox Sports Radio at

and then we tell you something. Let me tell you something,
talk about earning respect. Knoxlocks has done just that, pulled
(14:15):
off what some people thought was impossible. We'll get into
the details on that before we close up shop here
an hour two. It's all yours here and again as
we take you until four pm Eastern time, one o'clock
specific from the ti Raq dot com studios. But apparently,
you know you could just not be involved and then
get rewarded for it. We've got the proof of that
(14:37):
in the NFL. And that's yours next. Jonas has counted today.

Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. Comeing up, we'll call it.
About ten minutes now here from the Tirak dot com studios,
we are going to, for the final time this football season,
hand out our tg FG Game of the Weekend. I
think this one's going to be a surprise. This one
is going to be a surprise because it does involve
(15:17):
a playoff team. So that'll be yours here again, coming
up a little over ten minutes from now. So, now
is the time of the year where you start to discuss,
you know, like different awards in the NFL, like different
you know, potential awards that are out there, and a
lot of these feel like they're pretty cut and dry,
you know, like they were. You know, some of them
are a little weird, you know. I'll be honest with you.
(15:39):
And we had this discussion yesterday on Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe where I don't understand how anybody
puts Jade and Daniels as a Pro Bowl quarterback on
the NFC side over Baker Mayfield. I don't get it. Sorry,
don't get it. Baker Mayfield had a better year. I
know that. You know, everyone wants to push the narrative
and you know they want to kiss ass to the
(16:01):
commanders for some reason because they feel bad about the
Dan Snyder era. So now because he's not there, we
want to celebrate everything they do as if it's the
greatest thing in the world. I get all that, So cool,
I got it, got it, understand that. But how you
look at those two years between Jade and Daniels and
Baker Mayfield and think that he had a better one
than Baker Just it doesn't make sense at all. Just doesn't.
(16:25):
You can try and manipulate the numbers and point to
what it doesn't make sense. It just doesn't. So but whatever, listen,
it's a Pro Bowl. And by the way, let's be
honest here, the Pro Bowl sucks. Whatever it is, it's
not a game anymore. It's a bunch of like rinky
dink funny like, oh, let's play flag football, you know,
(16:45):
like it's almost like it's double there. You're gonna have
like some offensive linemen go down a chocolate slide and
pull a flag out of a giant nose, and then
another guy right ride a tricycle around in a chocolate
muddy pit. Like the whole thing's it's a goofball fest.
Second left Honolulu. I lost all respect for the Pro Bowl.
But I digress. There's all these other awards that are
(17:08):
out there. You know, there's some stuff that are out there,
and you know, they feel pretty cut and dry, Like
MVP feels like it's gonna go to Josh Allen. I'm
leaning more towards Lamar Jackson at this point. I also
think of Lamar Jackson lights up the Browns and Josh
Allen's just playing like a series to keep his consecutive
(17:30):
game streak. A lot, I don't know, feels feels like
that should be more of a discussion. But for whatever reason,
looking at the betting odds, it's not you know, the
player of the year Saquon Barkley, that's over coach of
the year, Kevin O'Connell, that's over comeback player of the year.
(17:52):
Sam Darnold is your favorite right now currently on DraftKings
for comeback player of the year over Joe Burrow. Got
a question for you, what's he coming back from? You
know what I mean? Like Burrow was injured. He's coming
off an injury, and if we remember this correctly, during
(18:15):
the off season, there was questions about whether or not
he would ever get back, like he talked about questioning
his own mortality and all of those things about you know,
the injury and the wrist and could he group of football.
You remember there was that viral video earlier in the
year where he was like holding onto a water bottle, like,
oh god, something's wrong with Joe Burrow. And all he's
(18:38):
done since then is put together the best season of
his career, like he legitimately could be an MVP candidate.
And Sam Darnolds had a great year, But what's he
coming back from? Like it doesn't like you know it
(18:58):
doesn't really make sense, Like he just didn't play because
of the situation he was in and he was a backup.
So now he's like, what are we doing here? And look,
it's it's not the end of the world. It's just
an award. But if we're having a discussion about the award, like,
shouldn't it make some sense? Like I remember a couple
(19:19):
of years ago, Deshaun Watson was one of the favorites
to be Comeback Player of the Year. And I'm thinking
to myself, I think we talked about on the show
coming back from what the grab lab the guy got
suspended because he was a weirdo? Why why is this
being like I could actually understand next year, to be
(19:41):
honest with you, like tours Achilles, Like, I totally get it,
but what are we like? What come like from what?
Like it's got to add up at a certain level,
and it doesn't. And Sam Darnold's had a great year
and I think it's a great story and I've said
it and I don't think Minnesota should should go away
(20:02):
from Sam Donald. I think they should figure out a
way to sign him up long term. And there was
some speculation about JJ McCarthy would they listen to offers? Maybe,
and maybe you're one of these teams is on the
outside looking at a quarterback like the Raiders because you
won a couple of games at the end of the
year and you pissed off your fan base. Maybe at
JJ McCarthy would make some sense. Totally understand it. Sam
(20:22):
Donald deserves an opportunity at that job long term. He's
been tremendous. He's been fantastic. But if we're talking about
like individual awards, it's like comeback Player of the Year
from what That's like a guy who's late three weeks
in a row and then one day he shows up
(20:43):
fifteen minutes early and he's like, I can't get a
little credit here, Like for what do you mean? I
was here before everybody. I showed up to the office first. Yeah,
but you showed up last, Like what do you No,
you don't get rewarded for that. That's the expectation. Sam
(21:04):
Donald has been great. I don't know that you reward
him with comeback Player of the Year because what's he
coming back from? Again? Does this mean he's because the
odds say that he's, you know, a slight favorite on DraftKings. No,
I mean, that doesn't mean he's gonna get it, but
I look at it and I go Joe Burrow is
the slam dunk, and it doesn't make any sense to
(21:27):
even factor in anybody else, like JK. Dobbins is in
the conversation, you know, like if you remember, like like
this one actually you know, stirred up some emotions last
year because Joe Flacco won it last year and he
got it over tomor Hamlin, you know, which I think
pissed a lot of people off. Like there are just
(21:47):
certain things that the NFL does where you're like, well
that doesn't really add up, That doesn't make any sense.
This one doesn't make any sense. Like Sam Donald's just
coming back from not playing because of the depth chart.
Joe Burrow wasn't playing because there was some people that
thought his career could be in jeopardy. Seems easy to me,
but we'll see how it plays out, especially after this weekend.

the latest from sports. This is a man that is
royalty through and through. Am ready if you do not
roll out a red carpet in your ears for him.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
He's not making this up.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
He'll kick you in the balls through the radio, through
the way. I tell you to put some respect on
his name.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Amazing what they can do with technology these days, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Most people have a chair in the studio. This man
has a seat high atop everybody else. A throne, if
you will. In the year, I have to present to
the the first update of the day, the one and
only Sir Isaac Longkron.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
Honestly, that music was not majestic enough. I'm afraid.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Yeah. See, I sound like this because just raising the
volume is not gonna help. The reason I sound like
this is because my throne is so high, I have
to lower myself down in order to just reach the microphone. True, Jonas, Yeah,
that is a fact. By the way, do we have
(23:46):
any royal music? Wasn't there like some royal like castle music?
Like I actually have live in person trumpeters. Oh yeah,
trumpets follow me around. But unfortunately all that. Yeah, they
were booked for another gig today. They're doing a bar
Mitzvat in Silmar. Actually, oh that makes sense.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
There they are.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Right there, that's what we did. By the way, high
marks on the double dare reference from earlier. You like
that sificity and the knowledge of the physical challenges brought
back warm memories. I had completely forgotten about the gigantic
(24:39):
nostril that they had to reach into, right, It was very,
very weird like but Nickelodeon had a couple of shows
back in the day. Remember what would you do? Yes,
Stude Ranch, Yes, Dude Ranch was big back in the day.
Was that the one who had God? What was the
guy a buttonick? Was that the guy's name? I thought
it was? It was that's a backup offensive. I'm in
(25:00):
for the Carolina. There was, there was, there was Donkey Lips,
and there was I thought it was button Nick. Okay,
you're gonna have to send me down the rabbit hole.
But someone like Nilely super famous was on that show
as our salute your shorts was. The other was another
one as well.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
It was about a camp or something.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Right, Yeah, yeah, you know, I feel bad for kids
these days because there's really nothing equivalent the Double Dare
Saved by the Bell. I mean, what do kids today
have besides you know, billionaire YouTubers with vapid content on
their channels. Oh TikTok. Just you know, a Brazilian shaking
(25:37):
her ass. You know that's all you need. Who needs
double there, I suppose. But the sort of the sort
of character the Double Dare and Saved by the Bell built,
it cannot be duplicated. I'm with you.
Speaker 4 (25:52):
When did we turn into grumpy old men? Anyway?
Speaker 1 (25:54):
We start Jonas in the National Football League and a
big story today emerging out of Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay
Buccaneers have placed safety Jordan Whitehead on the reserve slash
non football injury list after he was involved in a
car accident earlier today on his way to the Buccaneers
practice facility. The Tampa Bay Times newspaper additionally reporting that
(26:18):
Whitehead is okay, but he is not expected to return
this season. Now, Tampa Bay and its regular season finale tomorrow,
is hosting the New Orleans Saints. They can clinch a
playoff spot and the NFC South Division Championship with a
win or tie or a Falcons loss or tie tomorrow
to the Carolina Panthers. Multiple outlets reported today that Rex
(26:39):
Ryan will interview for the Jets head coaching job on Tuesday.
Today's action kicks off at four point thirty Eastern as
the Baltimore Ravens host the Cleveland Browns. Ravens can cleanse
the AFC North and the three seed of the AFC
with a win or tie. Then tonight at eight Eastern,
the Steelers host the Bengals. Steelers can clench the AFC
North and the three seed with a win and a
Raven lost. Now for the Bengals to make the playoffs,
(27:02):
they would need to win and have the Broncos and
Dolphins both lose tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
Now that's what I call a double dare back to you.
Speaker 1 (27:12):
Hell yeah, way to go, Isaac, Way to go Jonas.
It is Jonastoks here on Fox Sports Radio. By the way,
coming up at about twelve minutes from now here from
the ti raq dot com studios, we are going to
have another edition of Do You Care. A lot of
people have said, man, you guys are way too negative.
On this show, you get to really like start to
pick things up on the positive side of things. So
we're going to We're going to tell you the brutal
(27:32):
truth about a lot of candy ass stories you've been
force fed throughout the course of the week. And that's
what we're going to do here in about twelve minutes
from now Easy peasy, right now. Though this is something
we've been doing throughout the course of the football season,
we do it. It is a tradition unlike any other
where we celebrate games that you know, probably wouldn't get
a lot of attention, a lot of notoriety. Now, there
(27:54):
used to be a thing back in the day where
when high definition TV used to come out during the
NFL games for Sunday Ticket, there was always one game
that didn't warrant HD. It was the SD standard deaf.
So while everything else looked great on TV, it was
that one game with the sports bar that you were like,
(28:16):
what's the score is that? A? Is that the end
zone or the first down marker. You couldn't figure it
out because that game just didn't deserve the HD treatment.
And so we decided, well, since those days are gone,
why don't we go ahead and give an award out
to the game that you probably wouldn't watch unless you
were actually gambling on it, because who cares? So, with
(28:39):
that being said and without further ado, it is the
Week eighteen edition of that r TGFG Game of the
Week award. For Week eighteen, the final of the season
goes too Giant City Ghosts one pm Eastern time. That
(29:00):
you're probably thinking to yourself, the Eagles are going to
the playoffs, this is a good football team. Why would
they be involved in this? Well, nobody's playing. Saquon Barkley's
not even going for the record, so who cares. We
have no idea what the hell the Giants are going
to do. The Giants are a terrible football team, and
(29:23):
they won a game last week and pissed off their
fan base a La Raider fans because it might have
cost him an opportunity to draft Shador Sanders. And so
if that's the case, and they don't want to win games,
and the Eagles don't care about winning this game because
they've already clinched the two seed. Stans reason to me
(29:44):
that this would be the recipient of the week eighteen
edition of our TGFG Game of the Week Award. Now
some people are thinking, well, what about the Jags and
the Colts. I'll tell you why you watch that game,
because Brady Quinn's going to be on the call. So
that's reason enough to watch that game. So you just
(30:05):
keep your mouth shut, you turn that game on, and
you pay your respects to Brady Quinn. But as far
as this Giants Eagles game, who gives a rip TGFG
Game of the Week award goes to Philly, New York

Speaker 3 (32:03):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
DMG reports. Let's get kinky.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
Here's some of the big stories from the last week.
But Jonas, the real question is do you care?
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Yeah? For that, we turn it over to our executive
producer Patrick Sweek and to find out what the hell
people have been talking about all week?
Speaker 5 (32:24):
Pat Well, Jonas, this one's been a hot one talked
about this whole week. Do you care that Jimmy Butler
said he needs to find joy and was vocal about
his frustrations with the Miami Heat.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
Yeah, I do. I find it hilarious. They suspended him
seven games, They're gonna try and trade him. It's just
so funny, man, how the tables have turned. And now,
like all of a sudden, you start to get the reality,
the dose of reality that is what's gone on there.
Because you remember when they were going on their run,
like people were lining up to kiss Jimmy Butler's ass.
(32:59):
They couldn't wait to talk about all playoff Jimmy and
he's he's at and he is a great player and
he's been a fun player. But dude, like there's been
multiple times where like he you know tried to fight you,
Donnis Haslam, or there was an issue there, or him
and Eric Spolster didn't get along and Spolster threw the
clipboard on the ground at him, and just there's been
(33:21):
stuff that's been going on there for a little while now.
He was talking last year in the playoffs after he
got hurt and pat Riley told him to shut the
hell up. It seemed like the end was near. It
seemed like this had run its course, and apparently it has.
And now they're listening to trade offers next.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
Well, Jonas, we're gonna go to the NFL on this one.
Do you care that? Sakuan Barkley, as we all know,
we'll be sitting out for the final game. And obviously
that means he's not breaking the rushing record.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
No, I don't care. Doesn't mean Look what he if
he goes out there and he gets hurt, who do
you think is gonna get buried for that? It's gonna
be Nick Sirianni. He's gonna get destroyed, just like he
gets destroyed for every issue that pops up there in Philadelphia.
If Saquon Barkley was pounding the table and saying I
(34:08):
want the record. I want the record. I find it
hard to believe they would overrule him. I think they
probably all got together. I think Saquon Barkley was kind
of in different about the whole thing, and they said,
you know what, let's just play it safe. You know,
we're one hundred yards away. It's not like you know,
we're five six yards away. You're gonna have to do
some work. It's not worth it if we're trying to
win a Super Bowl. And to me, it made all
(34:30):
the sense of the world.
Speaker 5 (34:31):
Next, all right, Jonas, Well, do you care that the
coveted MLB free agent Roki Sasaki from Japan he told
baseball teams that they quote cannot bring team players into
meetings while these teams are courting him to their organizations.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Do you care about that? Yeah? I love it. You
realize there's going to be like players all around you.
This isn't like an individual sport. You know. I don't
really know that or not, but okay, I just listen.
Everyone keeps talking about how how great this guy is
(35:10):
and like he's the next big thing, and you know,
you know there's an opportunity to add him. You gotta
do it. But like it feels like, you know, it
may be a little bit more of a pain in
the ass, and some people realize and then we get
to see who it'll be. But ultimately it'll probably be
the Dodgers or some other team that usually makes all
the moves while all the other teams that are in
contention are like, god, I know, you're just way out
of our price range.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
Okay, next, all right, well do you care Jonas that?
Charles Barkley went on a recent tirade on JJ Reddick
of all people. This was on Inside the NBA a
few days ago. He called him out mid broadcast and
was totally just beefing and just dissing him.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
Do you care about that? Oh? Yeah, I think it's great.
I think it's because here's this is what's so funny
about this. So people that want to celebrate the NBA
and the fanboys that cover the NBA and the media,
and a lot of them, listen, they work for ESPN.
They've got a vested interest, Like they push so hard.
(36:12):
They want the NBA to be as popular as the NFL.
So bad, so bad. They were running around celebrating, oh
my god, our games are so much better on Christmas?
Did you see how much better our product was. And
it's like, dude, twenty plus million people were watching the
NFL games compared to your five and that was on
Netflix stop, not even in the same stratosphere. But like,
(36:37):
instead of just acknowledging that what Barkley says about the
quality of the game and all the other flaws of
the game, instead of just acknowledging that and saying, you
know what, you're right, we should get better, because it's
not like Barkley hasn't come up with ideas before. He's
been on the same page as I've been for years now. Dude,
why are we starting the season where we're starting it.
We're competing against the NFL college football postseason. It doesn't
(37:01):
make sense. Let's push the season back. Start it on
Christmas Day? Like do what to? Just push the season back?
That way you're unopposed like the playoffs, more people can
watch it, Like like what are we doing here? But
like instead of people like thinking about these ideas, you
know what the NBA does, Like, Oh, here's a goofy
mid season tournament that nobody cares about, including our own
(37:22):
players that don't show up to the after party. Here's
that And then they get all defensive and they're like, well,
it doesn't help that, you know, Charles Barkley and those
guys are like talking about how bad the league is.
They're they're a deterrent to the league. If inside the
NBA didn't exist, do you know how many more how
few people would watch? Like that's really like appointment television
(37:42):
for the NBA. They've done more to push the product
of the NBA and get people talking about NBA related
stories than just about anybody in the sport maybe in
the history of the sport. It's the best studio show
that's ever existed. But they're the problem. None of it
makes any sense. They don't want to address the issue.
(38:04):
They just want to point fingers as to all what
who are all the haters? Who's saying, all, dude, the
product is bad right now, you need to fix it?
End of story.
Speaker 5 (38:12):
Next All right, jonas Well, still on the NBA. Do
you care that Lebron said, uh break after breaking Michael
Jordan's thirty point record. He it was a humbling experience.
Do you care that he thinks it's humbling?
Speaker 1 (38:28):
No? No, I couldn't care less. I don't care. I mean,
it was an incredible feat. But like now we're like
making up like you know, stats of like, oh he's
got the most thirty point games. Oh, I Lebron's. It's like, dude,
I just want to know why he disappeared, that's all.
That's all. I just want to know where he went.
You know, why did he take two weeks off back
(38:49):
in like you know, twenty eleven or twenty twelve. That
was kind of weird, wasn't it. You know, it's kind
of weird. I just like to know, like where all
these you know, we hear about all these Michael Jordan
left to go play baseball because of a gambling debt
or whatever those stories. Can we just get the answers.
I just want to know where he went, that's it,
and why he took off and why he left social media.
Speaker 5 (39:07):
Next, all right, Jonas, Well, this one is the Papa
SWEEKA pic of the week for our dou cares. Here
two hundred Polish people, Jonas, we're taking turns in an
ice water pool. Why to break the record for largest
ice swimming relay, which was three hours and six minutes.
Do you care, Jonas? Yeah? I do.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
As somebody who is a cold showers I haven't taken
a hot shower in years. As somebody's a big fan
of ice cold showers as much as possible. And by
the way, I would get an ice bath if I
had room for it. But you know, my backyard looks
like a cubicle, so it's not happening. But as somebody
who's a big fan of this stuff, good for them.
And on top of that, you get to break a
record and put your name in the history books. Celebrate them.
Speaker 5 (39:49):
Next, all right, Jonas' final one and Scottie Scheffler injured
himself at Christmas dinner enough that he needs surgery on
his hands. Apparently cut his palm unbroken glass. Jonas, do
you care?
Speaker 1 (39:59):
No, I don't care about this. I'm sorry. Hey, can
I get some details here? Like it's Christmas dinner and
he cut his hand on a glass.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
Apparently he was reaching to reaching for utensils, was getting
a little animated at conversation and slip happened.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
Oh yeah, I'm sure there were no boos involved. There
was no yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you got it. I
tell you, when you start telling me the truth, then
I'll start caring a little bit more about the story.
How about that? So the NFL could really really use
some help today, really really use some help from one
team in the league. We'll explain who that is coming
up here in just a couple of moments from now,
(40:36):
Jonas Knox, Fox Sports Radio. You can listen to this
show as always on the iHeartRadio app. You can find
us on hundreds of affiliates all across the country and
wherever you are making us a part of your Saturday afternoon,
we appreciate you doing so. We are going to take
you all the way up until four pm Eastern time
one o'clock Pacific till the end of this hour, and
we're doing it all live tirack dot com Studios iraq
(41:00):
dot com. We'll help you get there. An unmatched election,
fast free shipping, free road as a protection, and over
ten thousand recommended installers tire iraq dot com the way
tire buying should be. So we were talking about this
earlier in the show that we can all agree that
the playoffs setup and how a team with fourteen wins
(41:22):
is going to be a five seed and have to
go on the road in the first round of the
playoffs is not fair and doesn't make any sense. Like well,
we all agree that that's the case. It's probably not
going to change. Like the loser of the Vikings and
the Lions on Sunday Night Football, they're screwed like it
just you know, it is what it is now. I
(41:43):
still would take them in a five verse four matchup,
most likely, I would still take them. I would favor them.
But happen to go on the road and all of
a sudden it changes, and then to go from potentially
a buy in the first round of the playoffs to
having to go on the road, like all of that
stuff like factors in and it makes that game must watch,
(42:05):
and it makes that game that big of a deal
like that really could dictate who goes to a super Bowl. Now,
to me, the NFC is completely wide open. It would
not surprise me if anybody from the NFC made a
run and was all of a sudden in a conference
championship game or in a super Bowl. I'm telling like,
it's completely wide open. The AFC feels like you have
(42:27):
some real juggernauts there. I don't really get that sense
in the NFC because of the injuries to Detroit. Detroit's injuries,
especially on defense, I think of really even the playing
field and their injuries elsewhere, and so because of that,
I think it opens up the possibility for an upset
or somebody else making a deep run. But one thing
that does have to happen, It's got to happen right
(42:52):
For a couple of reasons. The NFL really really really
needs the Bengals to beat the Steelers later on. They
really need it. And if you're a Steeler fan, you're saying,
screw you. You know, we're looking at where we're going
to end up in the postseason and we've got to
get our momentum back and we're not playing good football
(43:13):
right now and all that stuff. And the Bengals are like, hey,
we survived last week. But the NFL could really use
Cincinnati to win that game, because if the Bengals win
that game later on tonight at Pittsburgh, all of a sudden,
it creates a fun watch when it comes to Dolphins, Jets,
and Chiefs Broncos, who are going to be in the
(43:35):
four to twenty five Eastern time window coming up on Sunday,
Because now it opens up multiple possibilities because if the
Chiefs beat the Broncos, which you know it would take
some work starters are going to be resting. Carson Wentz
is but all of a sudden, it puts the pressure
on a team like Denver. If the Dolphins beat the Jets,
(43:57):
it puts a pressure on team a team like Denver.
And we need Cincinnati thrown into the mix because if
Cincinnati can get a Miami loss and a Denver loss,
next thing, you know, it's the Bengals in the postseason,
and all of a sudden, you get Cincinnati in there
that nobody wants to see. With the way Joe Burrow
and Jamar Chase and T Higgins are slinging the football around,
(44:20):
it would create a predicament. And the only way we
get the three way race for that final spot and
we get that interesting storyline is for you know, the
Bengals to beat the Steelers. Now, does that mean that
maybe they might get a couple of calls to go
their way? And maybe the NFL realizes that and says,
you know, let's go ahead. Maybe possibly. I mean, if
(44:42):
you're a Steeler fan and you end up losing that game,
there's you're out. I mean, if you were looking for
a reason to bitch and moan and complain a little
bit about the game. That could be your reason. So
I'm just saying, if we want to create some interest
here and really make tomorrow's four to twenty five Eastern
time Dolphins, Jets, Chiefs, Broncos back and forth watch that
(45:03):
much more interesting, have Cincinnati win this game later on tonight.
Get a win from Cincinnati, and I think it opens
up all sorts of possibilities. I was also thinking about
this as well too, watching these games and looking at
the games today. You imagine being the a hole who
gave your buddy a hard time for following the Browns
(45:25):
to Baltimore. Imagine that, Like, just think about the different
world that those two franchises are in right now. The
Ravens are hosting the Browns later on, and before we
(45:46):
started the segment, Baltimore was a twenty and a half
point favorite on DraftKings. Now, maybe some monies come in,
maybe some people feel like the line is a little
bit ridiculous, but it's still at nineteen and a half.
So before put this into perspective, before the game even
(46:09):
kicks off, and it kicks off at four thirty Eastern time,
before it even kicks off, Baltimore's got a twenty point lead,
like nobody's played and look, Baltimore's trying to try it
and they need to win. They can clay, like, we
get it, We are all clear here, But just think
(46:31):
about the world that those two fan bases have been
living in since they left Cleveland to go to Baltimore.
Like the Ravens are continuously in the Super Bowl chase, Like, yeah,
they've only won one since Harbaugh's been there, but they've
won two since they left Cleveland, and it wouldn't surprise
(46:54):
you if they made a deep run. And Lamar Jackson
is potentially going to win a nether MVP and he's
from the same draft class in which you took Baker
Mayfield number one overall. Couldn't wait to get rid of
him after he won a playoff game for you to
(47:15):
go bring in Deshaun Watson, who's hardly played him. When
he has, it's been brutal. And Baker Mayfield's now having
the best season of his career in Tampa Bay and
they're going to the playoffs most likely again, Like you
could not pick two different outcomes and two different worlds
(47:36):
in the NFL that came from the same place than
the Browns and the Ravens, And I've always wondered this, like,
who's the guy. There had to been somebody, like most
Cleveland fans realized, hey, listen, we got screwed. They bailed
on us, they abandoned us, like we can't this is bs.
But there had to been somebody. There had to been
(47:58):
somebody who was like, no, no, no, no, that's my team. Look,
I know they left here, but that's my team. Or
maybe somebody who didn't live in Cleveland that had no
loyalty to the city, but they're just a Browns fan.
I said, no, no, no, no, no no, that's my franchise. And
I don't know if there's ever going to be another one,
and I don't want to stop watching football, so I'm
going to go cheer for the Ravens then, and all
that they've known is potential playoffs or potential super Bowl
(48:22):
ever since. Meanwhile, all the Browns known is if we
do go to the playoffs, we're going to figure out
a way to screw it up afterwards, or we're gonna
like draft quarterbacks and not build around them, hire and
fire coaches A bunch of times get really desperate when
a quarterback does win a playoff game and just get
(48:44):
rid of him and throw him under the bus and
move on from him, and then give all this money
to another guy who's hardly going to play for us.
But it misses the first eleven games of the season
because you know, he got caught getting like seventy thousand massages.
And like, here we are at the end of the season,
with all this optimism for the Browns, all this discussion
(49:06):
for Cleveland, a proven year, Deshaun Watson, he's back, They're
gonna figure this thing out, the rosters loaded, Miles Garrett
still is stuff like all of that, all the conversation
around Cleveland, and it's the final game of the regular season,
and before the game even kicks off in the betting markets,
Baltimore's up by twenty. They can't make this up. It's
(49:33):
just a wild situation. Like you look at other organizations
that are kind of tied together and you go, oh,
what's no, No, these two really are tied together. And you
could not be more opposite. You could not be in
two different worlds than what the Ravens and Browns have
been in for the last twenty plus years. And here's
Baltimore man with another opportunity to make a run, with
(49:58):
another opportunity to win an MVP, with another opportunity to
potentially win a Super Bowl, with all of the and
Cleveland sitting here going, I guess we're drafting a quarterback. Well,
I don't know, Deshaun reworked his deal. He's gonna be
bet Like you've got this albatross that nobody can figure out.
Kevin Stefanski's having to like start Bailey Zappi now at quarterback,
(50:20):
Like I don't know, like what else. It's just a
crazy split between those two that are tied together historically
for the rest of time. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports
Radio at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox on
X and you can hang out with us as always
on the iHeartRadio app. A lot of positive feedback here
(50:42):
on the show. Troy writes in nothing this bleep packer,
Jonas salivates moreover than a roided out cracker running back.
You found your new bleep skids a boo to empty
your leap to you, bleep. Jason writes in, you Kermit
(51:10):
mahomes bleepwashing bleep, keep being outraged he wasn't named a
Pro Bowler and how sickening it is since he's the
next goat next to your boy toy Tom Brady and
bleep off to more bleep off mahomes TikTok dances. You
can post two you see Wad at the Jonas knocks
(51:37):
On X. At the Jonas knocks On X, Aaron writes
in Jonas, it's nice that the guys from up on
game mentioned that we should stay and listen to the
sloppy seconds, half assed Saturday sports show. So I guess
I'm stuck. Happy New Year again at the Jonas Knox
(52:01):
on x's where you can see all the unedited versions
of all of those. Coming up next here though, from
the tire rack dot Com Studios, we are going to
tell you how one team in the NFL has a
very easy choice to make. They've got an easy choice
to make, but if you've followed along throughout the course
of history, probably not going to do it. That's yours
(52:24):
Next here on FSR, we don't need to bring Jonas
in Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. Coming up a little
over ten minutes from now here from the tire Rack
dot Com Studios, we are going to tell you about
something that a few players in the NFL have in common,
which is great for them. It's great for their current situation,
(52:45):
not so great for their previous one. We'll get into
that for you again a little over ten minutes from
now here on FSR. As mentioned earlier, we do have
a couple of NFL games coming up later on about
an hour a little over an hour away from kickoff
in the Brown's Ravens game that'll be taking place, and
then we've got the Bengals and the Steelers, and the
(53:06):
NFL desperately needs the Bengals to win that game, just
telling you right now, desperately need him to to open
up the possibilities for tomorrow with the Dolphins game and
also the Broncos game. So the NFL could really really
use which, by the way, I'll say this when it
comes to the Dolphins, it's got to be really frustrating
(53:26):
if you're a Dolphins fan because the reality is the
fact that they're still in the mix in the postseason. Look,
you need help, obviously, you need Denver to lose that game.
And Mahomes isn't playing, the starters aren't playing. But Carson
Wentz can sling it a little bit. He's won big
games before. He's played good football before. It's not like
you've got somebody who's never started a game before going
(53:47):
in there. But like, it's got to be frustrating from
the sense that if you're a Dolphins fan, you realize,
if Tuas starts every game that he missed, you're a
playoff team, and in fact, you're battling for better seeding.
Like I don't think you're winning the AFC East, but
you're battling for one of those top seeds not named
(54:10):
a division champ, Like you could be battling for that
five spot and end up playing you know, the Texans
who are flawed and not the same team they were
a year ago. I just it's got to be a
frustrating situation because you realize and then two of it
comes out and says, well, you know, if we make
it to the playoffs, I'm playing in that game. You
can guarantee it. It's like, well, I don't know, this
(54:31):
is kind of a big one. You know this, I mean,
you probably need could use some help, but it just
like this whole organization is reliant on the fact can
he stay healthy, and can he stay healthy and can
he avoid taking a hit or sliding head first or
getting hit in that. Like it just feels like everything
is sort of hinging on whether or not that guy
(54:53):
can stay healthy in a career. For being honest, and
I love to I think he should have gotten paid.
I think he's one of the better core in the NFL.
A lot of people want to disrespect him and say, oh,
you can't do this, you can't, dude proofs in the
pudding them with him and without him, completely different team.
But like the fact of the matter is the availability
is your best ability, and he hasn't been available for
(55:16):
big portions of his career. Like you can go all
the way back to college, you can go to the
NFL and it just if you're a Dolphins fan, you're
looking at this going, Man, we shouldn't be in a
spot where we need Carson Wentz to win a game
for us in Denver just so that we can make
it to the postseason and beat the awful Jets. Like
we shouldn't be in this spot. Yet here they are
(55:38):
with Tyler Huntley as a backup quarterback, trying to go
in and do it against the Jets and hope for
a little bit of help from Carson Wentz, So probably
a frustrating situation, but it could always be worse.
Speaker 4 (55:49):
You know.
Speaker 1 (55:49):
You could be a team in the NFL who's I
guess got some talent and got some stuff going on,
and got some you know, feeling like, hey, we might
have our quarterback at all, and then just kind of
looking around and going, yeah, but it's just this one thing.
We're a disaster of a culture, and we don't have
a head coach, and we're just trying to figure this
(56:09):
whole thing out and look for answers, and we're in
the midst by the way of a ten game losing streak.
Step right up, step right up, your Chicago Bears. Hey,
that's how it's done, folks. That's how you do it.
That's how you bounce back from a heartbreaking Hail Mary loss.
You lose the next nine in a row, soon to
(56:32):
be ten after they get blow torch by the Packers
tomorrow at lambeau Field. I bring that up because this
feels like an obvious decision, but it's not the obvious
decision everybody thinks it is. The question is now, and
we were talking about this earlier. Mike rabel Is interviewed
(56:52):
for the Jets head coaching job. Rex Ryan is next.
Lewis Riddick is interviewed for the vacant GM opening, like
all of this stuff, like the wheels are in most
for all this stuff. If you hear people talk about
next head coach for the Bears, like you hear people
talk about it, everyone goes, oh, this is easy, Ben Johnson.
(57:13):
You hire the often the guru of the Lions, the
guy who's revitalized Jared Goff's career, and you bring him in.
You hire Ben Johnson to work with Caleb Williams. Easy, pas,
he done deal, We are good here. That's the move
you make. And I look at it and I go no.
The move you make is to hire Mike Rabel because
(57:38):
you know who's not coming with Ben Johnson to Chicago.
His offensive line, his dual running back combination in the backfield,
which has been fantastic. One of them could have been
there in Chicago. But they didn't need David Montgomery. They're
too good for that. You know, they don't need him.
They're not coming. Neither is Amana Saint Brown. Either is
(58:00):
Sam Laporta. Neither is Jameson Williams. Neither. No, None of
those guys are coming just Ben Johnson. And it's not
a knock on Ben Johnson, but the fact of the
matter is a place like Jacksonville makes way much more
sense to me than a place like Chicago. And there
(58:20):
was like some speculation that you know, maybe, uh, you
know Scott Brunell, who former Jaguars quarterback, like that, you know,
he thinks that Ben Johnson would love the Jaguars job,
that that would be the place that would make sense.
Pete Prisco's throwing that name out and that that you know,
tied those two together before as well too. That's the
one that seems like it makes more sense to me
(58:43):
because Jacksonville's got town. They have issues with injuries and
all the other things like it, and it hasn't worked there.
But it doesn't feel like it's toxic, Like it doesn't
feel like there's like full blown meltdowns and things. It
just feels like they've underperformed and they need something. The
Bears feel like the culture's a mess, Like you've got
(59:06):
players pointing fingers, blaming coaches, having meltdowns, having this. DJ
Moore walks off the field in the middle of a
play and oh, well's because of this it's oh body
language and all you know Tyson Bagent's dad going to
the media and saying, oh, players want my guy to start.
Like all of these things that are happening, and you
look at it and go, well, yeah, if Ben Johnson
(59:27):
comes in, that's great for Caleb Williams, it's great for
his development. What about the organization. I would rather have
a guy like Mike Rable come in, who you know
is going to hold people accountable, is going to be
trustworthy in late game situation, clock management situations. Act like
(59:52):
they're looking at this as just Caleb Williams. I got
news for you. Watch that team. He's the last of
your problems. It's the entire build of the roster. It's
the entire makeup of the roster. Like how many times
have you heard a story come out about dysfunction in
(01:00:14):
Chicago or seen it play out. You haven't really seen
that in Jacksonville. And you can say, well, it's because
it's the market, it's because it's this It's go okay, Like,
ask yourself this last time the Bears won a game
this season, you know what it was against Jacksonville in London.
How many stories of clownery and chaos have come out
(01:00:41):
between Chicago and Jacksonville since then, and the Bears mutilated
them in that game wasn't close. So everyone's looking at
this going, oh, this isn't easy fix. This is the
obvious choice. You hire Ben Johnson, he works with Kayleb Williams.
Problem solved. No, it ain't. You got defensive issues. You've
(01:01:05):
got locker room issues. You've got perception issues, Like you
got players talking about like, hey, why didn't we practice
after the bye? Like why didn't we do it? Like
there are multiple players saying, yeah, we need somebodyho's gonna
hold everybody accountable. We need That doesn't feel like a
first time head coach. To me, that feels like somebody
who's done it before. That feels like somebody who's has
(01:01:30):
a proven track record of Hey, he's fixed places, he's
turned around organizations. Mike Rabel feels like the slam dunk
move the slam dunk higher. That's why when the story
came out that Mike McCarthy, I think Jeremy Fowler or
ESPN pointed this out that Mike McCarthy, if Dallas moves
on from him, would have some interest in the Bear's job.
(01:01:52):
I think Mike McCarthy makes more sense than Ben Johnson does.
You need somebody who's been through this stuff and is
seen Okay, here's where the issues are. Like Ben Johnson's fantastic,
But that's a lot to ask of a guy when
you go into that place with all the stories that
have come out of there this season to try and
(01:02:14):
fix that and the quarterback. I'll take my chances with Rabel.
He brings in a guy like Tommy Reese who a
lot of people are of respect. And if you lose
him and he goes somewhere else, because he does a
great job with Kayleb Williams, so be it. If Kayleb
Williams is everything they thought he is, then you trust
that whoever else comes in is going to be able
to have success with them. A Lah Josh Allen after
(01:02:34):
Brian dave Ball left, etc. Etc. To me, Mike Rabel's
to hire? What will? They probably do not hire Mike Rabel.
That's the way the Bears work. Jonas Knox here Fox

Every Sunday morning. Listen to Countdown to Kickoff, presented by
Bet MGM right here on Fox Sports Radio and on
the iHeart Radio app. So coming up next here, we're
going to tell you how there's a certain thing that
(01:03:18):
a few players in the NFL have in common. It's
great for their current team, not so much for their
previous team. That'll be yours right here on FSR. But
first for all the latest from around the world of sports,
ladies and gentlemen. A man high a top his throne
of sports talk radio. He knows more about sports, and
he's better at telling you about sports than anybody in
(01:03:41):
the history of the business. Just ask him. He's isaacloh
and crame. What does that? Just ask him supposed to mean, well,
you have confidence in yourself? I I do, But the
just ask him crack canotes that it has crossed the
(01:04:02):
line from confidence to arrogance. When I ever referred to
myself in that manner, My brilliance is best summed up
by what others have said about me that has gradually
convinced me of my ability.
Speaker 4 (01:04:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:04:17):
I mean, look, I don't know why me. I'm trying
to hype you up, well your own personal height along
those lines.
Speaker 4 (01:04:23):
That's the perfect segue.
Speaker 1 (01:04:25):
It's working because we do have a throne update you ready, yeah,
airin posting and I quote Isaac, I don't mean to
pull you off your throne.
Speaker 4 (01:04:38):
You're in this case with the.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
Incorrect yo you apostrophe are e instead of y oh,
you are thrown. But that's neither the here nor there, Isaac.
I don't mean to pull you off your throne, but
if you're working Saturdays with Jonas Knox, your throne ends
up being a busted up port of John unquote here
(01:05:02):
with analysis Jonas Knox. I mean, yeah, that's not nice,
not very I mean, he could have at least gotten
the grammar correct, sure that that would help. But I mean, listen,
some of these people that write in this stuff are idiots,
like you know, I mean it, it just is what
it is. But isn't that you in all fairness, isn't
that the target demographic that has sent your career skyrocketing. Yeah,
(01:05:26):
I mean this one sent in from David who writes
board op Jonas is still a bigger vomit bag and
bleep than these pile of feces college football and NFL
playoff games. Put on your COVID mask and cry about
your mental health and going to blue Sky, you bleep gobblayer.
First of all, that's actually one of my burner accounts,
(01:05:46):
But secondly, I'm just kidding in that connotation. Isn't blue
sky one word and not two? I don't know it
is blue sky? Like the alternative to Twitter? Is that
what it is? It has these moments where membership spikes
and everybody like, oh, I'm going to blue Sky, leaving Twitter,
going to blue Sky, But eventually everyone at least the
(01:06:07):
way I use Twitter is for sports information and absolutely
nothing else. Uh, that's still the place for sports information.
And I don't get people that argue back and forth
with other people on twitters. Yeah, I be what'll waste
for you?
Speaker 4 (01:06:21):
Do you feel sorry for those SAPs?
Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
Yeah? Like you get you get caught up in this
like perpetual state of going checking. What did you say?
I got to respond? What did they say? I've got
it it's like, dude, who cares? Like I said, that's
that is the target demographic that has sent your career
into the stratosphere. And I'm just trying to ride your
coat tales of hatred as they were, straight to the bank.
(01:06:44):
It's a place, it's a place to be, man. I'm
telling you, We're going places, Isaac. I mean all the
time on a Saturday, all aboard, all aboard the Jonas bandwagon. Well,
we indeed have a lot of NFL news Jonas. In fact,
just moments ago, NFL media reporting that the Green Bay
Packers are placing cornerback Jayra Alexander on injured reserve due
(01:07:04):
to a knee injury, but that Alexander could return for
the Super Bowl if Green Bay, of course, makes it
that far. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today plays safety Jordan
Whitehead on the reserve non football injury list after he
was involved in a car accident earlier today on his
way to the Buccaneers facility. The Tampa Bay Times reported
Whitehead is okay, but is not expected to return this season.
(01:07:27):
The Bucks, at nine and seven, need a win or
tie tomorrow against the Saints or a Falcons loss or
tie against Carolina to make the playoffs. Coming up just
under one hour from now, the Ravens host the Cleveland Browns.
Baltimore can clench the AFC North and the three seed
with a winter tie. Baltimore left guard Patrick McCarey is active.
He'd been listed as questionable due to illness. Running Back
(01:07:49):
Justin Hill and receiver Nelson Agalore among those who are
inactive for Baltimore. Coming up tonight at eight pm Eastern,
the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers can
clench the AFC North and the three seed with a
win and a Raven's loss. For the Bengals to make
the playoffs, they would need to win and have the
(01:08:10):
Broncos and Dolphins both lose Tomorrow and one final Jonas
Knocks update, Jonas, your fan club is in fine form.
This posted by Dale for what it's worth. I enjoy
your morning show. Guess I'm a bleep gobbler too. And
in a related coat tails update, John has just followed me,
(01:08:32):
apparently as a result of this conversation from Newton, Massachusetts.
Thank you, John, Welcome aboard back to you see, you know,
just growing the follower count one month one slappy at
a time. That's the least we can do here on
this show. Oh my god. By the way, Isaac, let
me ask you what would you rather have the Bengals
(01:08:55):
in the playoffs or the Dolphins or like up of
the three? Let me rephrase terrible out of questioning Bengals, Dolphins,
Broncos in the playoffs? Would you rather have Bengals because
they have the highest upside slash punter's chance and for
the short term they will absolutely by winning, transform tomorrow
into meaningful football instead of meaningless football. I would agree, Yeah,
(01:09:19):
I totally agree. I just man, dude, who wants to
see Burrow? Look, there's two quarterbacks walking the planet who
have a postseason win over Patrick Mahomes, Tom Blues retired
and Joe Burrow, Like, come on, like that feels like
the most interesting of them all. But you know, knowing
the Bengals will figure out a way to blow it.
I mean, they really tried to lose that game last
(01:09:40):
week and really tried to lose. So we'll see, we'll see,
hopefully as Cincinnati pulls it out and we can get
ourselves a fun little four to twenty five Eastern time
window coming up. Tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (01:09:51):
Who Day? Who Day?
Speaker 1 (01:09:52):
Yep, who Day? Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio, by
the way, coming up in ten minutes from now, Knox Locks.
Knox Locks is back for week eighteen. Very confident, feeling
pretty great about things after last week and what we've
done over the past several weeks. That'll be yours here again,
coming up in about ten minutes from now. All right,
So I've talked to I mentioned this earlier in the year,
(01:10:17):
and it's like at that point of the season, like, yeah, listen,
it's you know, not even the halfway point. I don't
think so, like, what are we really even talking about
it for? But I pointed it out for a reason
that there's a common theme here and it feels kind
of noteworthy, especially as we get down to the final
week of the season and we see the playoff field
(01:10:40):
sort of get it self figured out and who's in
and who's not and all that. But I've just kind
of noticing something because we were talking about the playoff
the Pro Bowl voting earlier in the show, and I
made mention of the fact that we talked about on
Two Pros and a Cup of Joe, the fact that
you know, like for some reason people think that Jaden
Daniels deserved a Pro Bowl spot or over Baker Mayfield.
(01:11:02):
It doesn't make sense. I'm sorry it doesn't. Jared Gov
made sense, Sam Darnold makes sense. Jade and Daniels doesn't
make sense. Baker Mayfield had a better year, but it
gets a Pro Bowl, you know, not that big of
a deal. It's fine, you know whatever. Listen to snub,
not snub whatever. Patrick Mahomes didn't make the Pro Bowl
and you look at the guys who made it over him, Lamar,
Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, all those guys at better years,
(01:11:24):
so they got that right. I just disagree with Jayden
and Daniels over Baker Mayfield. Whatever. Teach their own. But
I did find it funny how a certain position group
had a common theme when it came to their Pro
Bowl selections. Do you see, uh, some of the names
that popped up as far as running backs go, Derrick Henry,
(01:11:47):
Joe Mixon, Josh Jacobs, Saquon Barkley, all running backs whose
former team let him walk. You don't need them. We're
all good here. All running backs who currently are on
(01:12:08):
playoff teams and their former teams odds would say, aren't
going to the playoffs now Joe Mixon's case, maybe Cincinnati
will get it done. But from an odds perspective, the
odds would say Cincinnati's not going to get that final
playoff spot. Denver will probably win, and if not Denver,
(01:12:29):
Miami might beat the Jets in New York because the
Jets are terrible. But you just look at that and
you go, doesn't that tell you everything you need to know? Like,
doesn't it tell you everything you need to know about
where they came from? Like the Tennessee Titans and Derek
Henry couldn't figure it out. Now we're going to go
We're going to go in a different direction. And now,
(01:12:51):
like the highlight of the year for Tennessee is the
fact that Brian Callahan ripped people for saying that his
team doesn't play tough, like, you know, Joe Mixon. Hey, listen,
you know we don't need him anymore. We're gonna, you know,
let him walk to Houston. Houston, say whatever you want
about him their playoff team and the Bengals are sitting
here scrambling where it's like, hey man, if it's not
(01:13:12):
Joe Burrow, Like what are they going to do. It's
like Joe Mixon would have helped that offense. Josh Jacobs
leaves the Raiders, they'very disaster and he goes to Green
Bay and it's been a perfect fit. It's why Green
Bay is a live dog in the postseason. It's like, dude,
they can run the football. Completely different team and the
(01:13:34):
different style of running back than what Aaron Jones was.
They can really run the football, they can pound the football.
If the weather gets it becomes an issue. That's a
team you could worry about. Saquon Barkley. I mean, has
an ex ever been clowned more than what's happened with
Saquon Barkley. Like they pulled off the Dogs they could have.
(01:13:57):
They actually set history against his former team this weekend.
So it just goes to show you that, you know,
if all of these things and all these teams are like, hey,
we're going to follow the trend, We're not going to
pay our running back. We don't want to do that.
We're going to let them walk in a different direction,
and all four end up in the Pro Bowl and
on playoff rosters. It's a feel good moment for the
(01:14:21):
running back position. It's also an indictment of where they
came from, especially when it comes to Saquon Barkley, because
nobody has whiffed and butchered a move that was so
obvious to everybody else except for the ones inside the organization,
like the Giants did on Hard Knocks, completely whiffed. Jonas
Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox on
(01:14:43):
X Coming up next here though, we're going to close
up shop with another edition of Knox Locks right here
on FSR. Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up a

Coming up here to be Alex Curry and Karma Vitali,
who will have you covered. A two hour extravaganza here
ten minutes from now from the tire raq dot com studios.
A reminder though, before we get to the Week eighteen
edition of Knox Locks. Shortly after the show, the podcast

(01:15:26):
be sure to check out the pod search Fox Sports
Radio wherever you get your podcast. Be sure to also
follow rate and review it again. Just search Fox Sports
Radio wherever you get your podcast, you'll see this show
posted right after we get off the air. Let's lotch
it Knox locks. So we go back to last week,
(01:15:46):
sitting at five hundred two weeks left in the season,
and you're thinking to yourself, well, it's crunch time. You've
been inconsistent all year. What makes us think you're gonna
be able to figure this week out? What did we
tell you? Bengals minus three over the Broncos took some help,
probably didn't need that much help, a little bit stressful,
(01:16:08):
but nonetheless we got it done. Giants plus seven and
a half over the Colts. I mean, had we bet
the money line on that game, we really would have
gotten paid. But the Giants were dominant. Best win of
the season, probably the best win in a couple of
years for the Giant. It cost him potentially the number
one pick, but we were on the right side of that.
And then the Vikings a one point favorite over the
(01:16:32):
Green Bay Packers. Shouldn't have even gotten that close. Shouldn't
have been nearly that close. But we'll take it. And
we've got Minnesota minus one and a winner to finish
up a clean sweep three and oh last week in
Knox Locks. It puts US at twenty six, twenty three
and two for the season, and it brings us to
(01:16:53):
this week. Took the Bears and Packers. I'm gonna take
the Bears. I don't think the Packers are going to
play there starters that long. To be honest with you,
I don't think they are. I think they're gonna play
it safe. And we're not asking for the Bears to
do anything different than what they've done over the past
ten games. We're asking them to lose, just don't lose
by more than ten. That's it. You're probably gonna play
(01:17:16):
majority of your starters. There's some guys that are gonna
be out there playing hard. They were really competitive the
first time these teams met. You could argue the Bears
should have won that game. So I look at it.
You've got Josh Jacobs saying, yeah, you're probably not gonna
see a lot of me. They're gonna want to play
this safe. They've got the playoffs to worry about. I
think they're going to try and win this game. Obviously,
Matt Lafleur has never lost to Chicago, but I don't
(01:17:38):
think they're gonna step on the gas all the way through.
I think the Bears can keep it within double digits,
and if they do so, we've got ourselves a win.
Dolphins and Jets, I'm taking the Jets. This is a
pick them. It's a pick them. The Jets in some markets,
maybe a slight favorite, but I'm gonna take New York here.
Aaron Rodgers needs one touchdown PA for five hundred. This
(01:18:01):
would be the perfect ending to his Jets career and
maybe his NFL career if they could go out and
play spoiler against a backup quarterback and Tyler Huntley and
the Miami Dolphins. I'm taking New York. I think they
win this game outright, obviously, Obviously, I think the Jets
get this done, and I think they do it in
(01:18:22):
a pretty impressive fashion. I think it's a convincing win
for the New York Jets. Believe it or not, the
Jets are going to finish the season with a win.
Rogers will get touchdown pass number five hundred, and it'll
be at the hands of the Miami Dolphins, who are
going to miss the playoffs because of this. The chief said, Broncos,
I'm gonna take Kansas City. Look, you're getting ten and
(01:18:44):
a half points on the road. I know Patrick Mahomes
isn't playing, I know all the starters are out, and
Denver's got all this that they're playing for. Carson Wentz
is gonna sling it around a little bit. They're going
to similar to Chicago, keep it within the ten. I
like Kansas City plus the ten and a half. And
that is your Week eighteen edition of Knox Locks Knoxy.
(01:19:06):
All we need is for one of those to hit,
and we've clinched a winning season in Knox Locks. That's it.
We're not asking for a whole lot, so you know,
try and help us out a little bit here for
the final week of the year. Thank you to Patrick.
Thanks to Chris and Isaac here on Fox Sports Trading
