Yep, okay, I'll recordless world.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
So there are a couple of things that are inevitable
in the world of football when it comes to the NFL,
and they could be playing out sooner rather than later
for one organization. We will get into that coming up

Tirac dot com the way tire buying should be. So,
there are a couple of inevitables in the world of football,
A right one of them we all kind of know,
(01:45):
except people were ignoring it before the season, Like we
know that there's such thing as a Super Bowl hangover. Correct,
Like we all acknowledge that, like we are aware of
that that's an inevitability, Like it just is. There's Super
Bowl hangovers. I mean, unless you're New England or Kansas City.
(02:06):
And let's be honest here, those are the two most
recent dynasties, Kansas City in the midst of one, New
England previously the Dynasty, unless it's those two teams involved
and Brady and Mahomes, Like, super Bowl hangovers are real,
Like that's inevitable. And so when you see the news
come out earlier that broke a little while ago, the
(02:27):
Christian McCaffrey is going to be placed officially on THEA
on the injury reserve and he's going to miss at
least four games. You know there's people look at that
and go, oh, well, that's I mean, that could be
a real issue. I mean, Jordan Mason was great, but
McCaffrey's one of the best players in the league. And
you know, fantasy football owners are freaking out and you
got all these and it's like, okay, well, but this
(02:47):
is part of it, Like this is one of those
things that's inevitable in football. Super Bowl hangovers are real,
and this is going to be one of the elements.
If the Niners struggle to get back to a Super
Bowl or failed to get back there, you're going to
look at this and go, oh, well, that's why you
got to cash him when you have the opportunity, because
(03:09):
you never know. Health could pop up, like McCaffrey severing
an injury in Week seventeen last year and sat out
Week eighteen. They had to buy he was able to
work through it, and the guy almost won the MVP
of the Super Bowl. If San Fran had won that game,
he would have been MVP. But now here we are
(03:29):
and he's going to miss at least the first five
games of the season. It's achilles tendonitis. It's a calf issue.
It just ain't good and it's not the right way
to start out the season, and it feels like it's
something he's going to have to manage all throughout the year.
So that's sort of one of the elements that could
play into why they're going to have a Super Bowl hangover.
It's why I didn't pick the Niners. But here's one
(03:50):
thing that I am hoping for. I'm hoping brock Purty
goes out and plays really good football. I hope he
slinging it around. I hope he plays well, because that's inevitability.
Number two when it comes to the Niners, they might
have a Super Bowl hangover. And that may be an
(04:12):
inevitability in the NFL. You know what else is inevitable
Quarterbacks that are gonna get paid. Quarterbacks are gonna get paid.
And we could sit here and argue back and forth
about who deserves what and what sort of contract is
so and so gonna get, and what if brock Purty
goes out and plays well without Christian McCaffrey and say
(04:37):
they don't go to a Super Bowl or they don't
win a super Bowl. But he's played really good football. Allah,
Dak Prescott, you mean to tell me there's going to
be an argument against paying that guy. Like, that's going
to be a discussion, and I know it'll be a
discussion because it's already been one that's been whispered about. Well,
(04:58):
when brock Purty comes due, what are they what do
you mean, what are they gonna do? They're gonna pay him?
What do you mean?
Speaker 4 (05:05):
Like?
Speaker 2 (05:06):
They're gonna pay him? And they should. And so this
is another audition for brock Purty to go out there
and continue to play high quality football, continue to play
good football, and continue to establish why he deserves to
get paid. So if you're the forty nine ers, you
(05:28):
may look at the start of this season and go, hey, listen,
we got Jordan Mason, Christian McCaffrey feel better. And maybe
it won't result in the super Bowl, because I don't
think it will, but I do know this, there's going
to be a lot more on brock Purdy's plate. He's
probably gonna do what he's done throughout the course of
his career, which is played good football and continue to
stamp his argument as to why he's the next guy
(05:49):
that should be paid. And it's inevitable he will get paid.
Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio all right, so
let's have the discussion that nobody wants to really have
in an honest way. Tua Tagobailoa. We all saw it,
(06:09):
we all understand it, we're all concerned, we all want
the best form scary situation. Everybody's aware, everybody knows it.
And then you've got people out there talking about Tua
should retire, he should walk away from the game, it's
not worth it, this is too many times, etc. Etc.
(06:33):
If Tua gets cleared by doctors and he comes back
and wants to play, who the hell are you or
anybody else to tell him not to play? And there
may be people that look at it and go, man,
I'm a little uncomfortable with this whole thing. I don't
know if he should be back at that's fine, I'm
(06:54):
not if that guy wants to come back and play
and risk it, go do your thing. Like there's people
that thought Alex Smith shouldn't play, Like, why is Alex
Smith gonna come back? I mean his leg still doesn't
look right. Guy almost died, but he wanted to come back.
He wanted to play, so you let him go out
(07:15):
there and play. Thankfully, nothing serious happened when he came
back and he had to walk away or suffer permanent
damage beyond what he already had. But there's just realities
to the NFL, Like it's not like Tua's concussion is
the first we've ever seen. It's not like Tua having
(07:36):
a history of concussions is the first time we've seen it.
Kenny Pickett's had history concussions. I mean Kenny Pickett. I
think the same year Tua suffered his first concussions, he
suffered like two that year. You didn't hardly hear anything
about it, Like tuas played out on a standalone stage
and all that. But like the conversation now becomes all right,
(07:59):
So what he do moving forward, Well, he goes through
concussion protocol like he has. If they determine that he's
cleared and he can play, he's probably going to want
to come back and play. And if that's the case,
nobody should tell him he can't. Nobody should stand in
his way. Voice your opinions, that's fine, just like I'm
(08:21):
voice in mind. But this idea that like, man, he
should just quit, he should just not. No, you don't
get to call the shots here, Like this is an
easy decision. It's a decision between him and the doctors,
and if he decides it's worth the risk, then you
go let him play. Like people like there's going to
(08:44):
be concussions this weekend in the NFL not named Tua.
There's going to be devastating serious injuries this weekend in
the NFL, not named Tua, Like we're going to see it.
And I know that there's the history of it and all,
but like, if you trust the medical professionals that are
(09:05):
looking after toua, if you trust people out there that
are saying, listen, there are risks, but you can play.
But here are the risks. And he decides to play,
I have no issue with it, and I don't think
anybody should stand in his way. Like if you're the
Dolphins and you decide, you know that we're not comfortable
with all this, okay, but he is and his family
(09:32):
may pressure him not to play, Like there's gonna be
a lot of people that are going to be in
his ear, but the only ones that count are his.
And if the guy wants to go out there and
he wants to risk it and it's worth the risk
to him, I got no issue with it. Like it's
not hoping or not caring that anything bad happens to him.
(09:52):
It's just looking at it and going listen, that guy's
got the freedom to make his decision, like he's got
the freedom to be able to do and so you,
like Mike McDaniel was basically saying, look, people talking about
two are retiring, Like look like slow down, Like this
is not the time for that. And it's not all
of those discussions you can have after he's been evaluated,
(10:16):
after he's gone through protocol, and if he passes the
test and he's there and these tests are up to
snuff like we've been told and everybody assumes they are
in the NFL, then there shouldn't be a question about
whether or not he comes back, and if there is,
it should be him asking the questions, like we should
(10:36):
all wait, slow down. Look, I know everybody wants to
look at this and go, oh my god, he's got
to walk away. This is too many times. I get it, man,
it doesn't look good. But if he passes these tests, like,
do you here's a better question. Do you really think
that if Tua goes out there and plays the rest
(10:57):
of his career, he's never gonna have another concussion? Like
if you were to say, hey, you're gonna play another
eight years in the NFL with zero concussions. Do you
think that's like possible? Likely? Probably not. Like this stuff
is gonna pop up, It's gonna happen again. But if
(11:17):
tuas at the point in his career where he's like, no, no,
I still want to play, like I want to play.
The doctors have cleared me, and I'm going to go
out there and play. Nobody should tell that guy what
the hell he can do. You may not like it,
you may be uncomfortable with it, but it is what
it is. It's his choice. I can remember watching Alex Smith.
I think he played the Rams when he came back
(11:38):
first time he got sacked. I'm watching going, oh my god,
I hope his leg doesn't collapse, swear to God. But
it wasn't my place or anybody else is to tell him,
hey man, you can't come back and play. If he
passed the test, if he cleared them all, he should
be allowed to play. If somebody outside of the Dolphins
and independent neurologist steps in and says, hey man, not
(11:58):
a good idea. You run the risk. Here are the risks,
and then they determine it. That's one thing. But a
bunch of people on X or Instagram, like a bunch
of media members, fans, former players, coaches telling him what
he should do. No, he should do whatever the hell
he wants, and if he's cleared, and whatever the hell
(12:20):
he wants involves him coming back and playing football, so
be it. I got no issue with it. Jonas Knox

(12:42):
running their mouths about the performance of Knox Locks in

performances in the NFL Week one. I am not alone.
We will bounce back. Week two's edition is coming up
to close up shop here before we get out of here,
a two hour extravagamza from the tire Rack dot Com studios.
But this was the most avoidable situation in the NFL,
(13:06):
and they couldn't help themselves. We'll tell you what that is.

Next.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up in a little
over ten minutes from now. Apparently people can't let it go.
They cannot let it go when it comes to one
player in the NFL. We will explain why that is
again a little over ten minutes from now. So have
(14:20):
you ever seen somebody about to make a big mistake,
like they'll leave a cup of coffee on the roof
of their car as they're getting in, and you see
when they're about to drive away, somebody's at the gas pump.
They've got the the pumps still in the car, in
the gas tank, and they go and they drive away
(14:43):
like you just noticed things from afar and you go, oh, God,
like all of that could have been avoided. All of it,
Like it's almost in slow motion. You'll see an accident
or something happening. You just think to yourself, like, dude,
like one little like just if you just used any
sort of common sense, all of it could have been avoided.
(15:05):
And look, we've all been guilty of it, like drive
away with something, you know, leave your keys like whatever,
Like we've all been guilty of it. But all of
it is so easy to avoid. You just need a
little bit of common sense. And apparently you know that's
lacking in the city of Cleveland when it comes to
(15:26):
the Browns. So the very latest on the Massage Watson
situation in Cleveland, following another claim an accusation by somebody else,
the very latest, according to Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports,
it is believed that the allegations in the latest civil
(15:52):
lawsuit would not be covered under Deshaun Watson's reinstatement agreement,
and if a violation of the league's Personal conduct policy
is found, Watson could again face punishment from the NFL,
including a fine and or suspension. Nice. Nice, So apparently
(16:14):
whatever agreement was signed, this wasn't on it. And you're
probably looking around going man, oh man, like how could
he do that to the How how like did you
like did people think like after they found the first
twenty two or twenty three of these or like sixty
(16:34):
or whatever, what did people think like that? Was it
like that there was no more out there? Like that
made no more listen, like got like lawsuits against him
are like spare change, Like you got like a change
jar in your house, or you got one in your
like a little like thing in your car, like a
glove box or something like. You don't know exactly howmeny's
(16:55):
in there. You just know there's a lot of like
pennies in there, pennies, dimes, nickels like whatever, maybe a
couple of quarters, like you're not quite sure how many.
You just know that there's a bunch in there. Like
at what point throughout this entire thing did anybody think
this was gonna end well, like like what like which
(17:19):
part of this was not? And the thing about is
all of it could have been avoided, all of it.
I'm not talking about the Deshaun Watson side of things,
because apparently you can't avoid that. Like that's the guy's
got a problem whatever, he's into that stuff. He's into
that stuff. A's Oh, they're alleged, they're alleged. I don't know, man,
(17:41):
Like if you go back and read some of the transcripts,
like go back and read some of the details of that.
I mean, it sure all feels like the similar thing
Like there's a lot of common denominators there, a lot
of preferences, likes things like there's just things that are
you know, very similar to other accusations, but like Deshaun
(18:02):
Watson a side all of like and this goes. Look,
it's the play on the field, it's the stuff off
the field, the weird handling of the injuries, the inability
to be available consistently, Like there's all of it has
been a full blown five alarm disaster. All of it
(18:26):
a disaster, and all of it could have been avoided.
You didn't have to trade for him, Like even if
there was no issues, but like there was still red
flags even if there was no issues off there just
(18:46):
still read you want to know if those were how
about the fact that, like he signed a contract with
the Texans, committed to the organization after they traded away
his best weapon and friend, DeAndre Hopkins, and then he
quit on the organization. How about that That's not like
a red flag, like there's no issue, like no problem there.
(19:08):
And that's on top of all the other stuff, like
just decided not to play an entire season. I'm just
not gonna play. Like look, nothing about that or anything
off the field kind of signaled to you that, like,
you know, maybe we're not sure we want to get
into bed with this guy, no pun intended. Maybe we're
not sure we want to get into business with Deshaun Watson.
(19:29):
It's not not a good idea, Like nothing struck Like, hey,
whoa you know, flair got up into the sky. We
got issues here, problems, none of that, All of this
could have been avoided by the Browns, all of it.
Like I don't feel the least bit bad for the
Browns organization or anybody that pulled the trigger on wanting
(19:52):
to bring to Shaun Watson in. I don't feel bad
at all because you had everything you needed and still nah,
forget all that. We're just gonna go ahead and bring
him in and then hope for the best, okay, and
what have you gotten? Like it's just like all of
it has been a disaster and all of it could
(20:13):
have been avoided, like you didn't have to do, but
you did. And so now you've got all of this
stuff that's coming. I mean, you've got alleged burner accounts
out there, like who knows, there's probably not even Deshaun Watson's,
but there's a burner account rumor that's out there about
(20:34):
Deshaun Watson. And now you've got this latest claim that
came out, and now you had the weird handling of
the injury in the off season before this, and then
he didn't and then he goes out and plays and
he played poorly. It's like, come on, man, like it's
been four years since he's been the guy that you
traded for. At what point are we just gonna call it?
(20:57):
But then no, no, no, I mean, if you believe
any of these report like later reports, they're not considering
benching him, they're not considering moving off of him. No,
there's nothing, like they still believe he can be that. Okay,
are you still believe it? But then this report comes
out and then Tony Busby, the lawyer for the accusers,
(21:20):
coming out and saying, well, listen, we've got a couple
of witnesses. We've also got an evident video that's pertinent evidence.
We've also got, you know, a meeting set up with
the league in two weeks, Like this is going to
end terribly, terribly, Like they literally left a carton of
(21:40):
drinks with no lid on on the top of the
car with the sun roof open and all the windows down,
and they're gonna speed off and you're gonna look on
like we all are and bewilderment, going how did you
not notice that? Like how did you not see that?
And they're gonna look around and go, oh my god,
(22:02):
we this is not what we expected. Well kind of,
I mean, get all the evidence you needed. All of
it could have been avoided. They refuse to avoid it,
and now they're gonna have to deal with the mess.
Jonas Knox he or Fox Sports Radio. By the way,
if you are looking around college football, whether it's Columbia
South Carolina where LSU and South Carolina are playing, whether
(22:22):
it's Wisconsin and Alabama. If you want to know why
college football will always have one thing over the NFL,
that's exactly why those atmospheres are unmatched. They are and
we're not even at the meat and potatoes schedule portion
of the season, and college football continue to deliver. It
(22:44):
is like rock concerts. Now you've got one hundred thousand
plus people at some of these venues like that is
the You could say whatever you want about college football
and there's blowouts and there's too many teams, and you know,
the quality of play isn't as good, whatever you want
to say about it. One thing they will always have
on the NFL stadium atmosphere and it is on full
(23:05):
display here on a Saturday. So fun stuff and we
will get you the latest updates and scores there as
we turn it over now to Martin Wise, who's got
the latest on those games and others around the world
of sports. Martin, what's happening?
Speaker 1 (23:17):
That's true, jonas I do, and you were right.
Speaker 7 (23:19):
There are quite a bit of blowouts right now on
the schedule, as Alabama right now in Camp Rendall beating
Wisconsin twenty eight to ten, two minutes and fifty three
seconds left in the third quarter.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
See if they'll jump around after this.
Speaker 8 (23:35):
Jalen Milroe eleven fourteen but two touchdowns through the year,
one on the ground, Jim Miller adding a touchdown there
as well. For Alabama, Tyler Van Dyke was five five
for sixteen yards passing the transfer quarterback to Wisconsin left
the game with the leg injury.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
Took a ride on the cart to the locker room.
Braydon Locke in at quarterback.
Speaker 8 (23:56):
He's fifty percent passing eighty nine yards and a touchdownlod
Oklahoma State over Tulsa thirty five to nothing. Right now,
Alan Bowman went five touchdowns an interception for the Cowboys.
LSU and South Carolina LSU off that loss last week
right now to USC might lose one another USC, this
one on the East coast South Carolina right now with
(24:17):
a twenty four to sixteen lead over the Tigers. Leonora Sellers,
quarterback for the South Carolina, had a seventy five yard run.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
That's his long run of the season for the game Cock.
Speaker 8 (24:29):
She's got one hundred and twelve bears passing the interception
eighty eight yards on the ground. Helps when you have
a seventy five yard run two touchdowns as well to
add to that third quarter ten twenty five left there
in at South Carolina. Michigan pounding Arkansas State early in
the fourth quarter twenty eight to three at Michigan now
the seventeenth three team after falling into Texas last week.
(24:52):
A barn burner through the first half. Right now for
Missouri and Boston College. Missouri the sixth rain team in
a nation. Boston I was a twenty fourth. You'll remember
Boston College head coach last year. Jeff Hafley's now the
Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator this year. Bill O'Brien back
there at Boston College. Thomas Cassianos. He's got two touchdowns
(25:13):
through the air, adding twenty one yards on the ground.
He's the rushing leading rusher for the Eagles as well.
Right now, seventeen to fourteen at the half and out
of the NFL the major circuit.
Speaker 1 (25:25):
Christian mccaff ford Ninalds running back.
Speaker 8 (25:27):
He is going on injured reserve due to calf tightness
and achilles tendonitis, which has been bothering him since training camp.
He will miss at least the next four games he
already missed last week against the Jets.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Jonas back to.
Speaker 2 (25:40):

Coming up here in about fifteen minutes from now, we
are going to have another edition of Do You Care
always a fun Saturday ritual here on the show. That'll
(26:43):
be yours here again fifteen minutes from now. So at
some point people got to move on, Like you gotta
move on, you gotta let it go. You just have
to let it go. Like there are certain go tos.
I don't know if it's a crutch like whatever, but
(27:03):
like at a certain point, you just kind of okay,
that's it. It's over. Like it's done, like the Taylor
Swift Travis Kelsey thing, like it's over. I mean, I
think we squeezed as much as we could out of it.
There's nothing left. We are done. I don't care what
(27:26):
game she's at. I don't care what she's wearing. I
don't care who. I don't care. It's over. You gotta
move on. Done deal, that's a rap. You know what
else is over? Tom Brady returning to the NFL as
a player. It's done. It's over. We're good here, or
(27:52):
at least I am. Apparently there's some people that aren't,
because after TUA goes down, what you again? And you know,
like we don't know what it looks like long term,
but everyone's calling about long term plans and he should
retire and this and that and all the other. And
it's like, like I said a little while back, a
little while ago, listen, he should be able to do
(28:13):
what he wants if he's clear by doctors, go play.
That decision is not up to his teammates, former players, coaches,
it's not up to media members, people on social media.
Christ even if his family says, hey, listen, like we
(28:33):
don't think it's a good idea you'd come back and play,
and he wants to play, I'm sorry, Like it's his choice,
got no issue with it. Should have the ability, if cleared,
to call his own shots. But like we can't even
like get a final diagnosis after a couple of weeks
of what the future is going to look like. And
(28:54):
you've already got people out there throwing tom Brady's name
of the hat as a replacement already, like all right,
oh tom Brady. It's like, okay, let's just let's let's
let's just take it easy here, all right. On a
couple of fronts. Number one, as stated, can we let
(29:14):
this play out? Like, can we just like see where
we're at before we get really drastic? Like I can
understand people going, you know, Ryan Tannehill is available. I
get okay, I get I got it. I mean you
know what, what are the what are the Dolphins gonna
do a quarterback? Well, I mean you know they've got
to do something. You know, you're gonna elevate Skyler Thompson
is there, You're gonna elevate somebody maybe, like yeah, they'll
do something if there's a but like now we're going
(29:36):
tom Brady, they should bring in Tom Brady. It's like, okay,
all right, let's stop. That ship is sailed. It's over.
Like he's not playing anymore, he's not coming back to play.
It's done. It's over. We've squeezed as much as we
possibly could have that whole story. It's done, right, So
that's one Number two. The guy's broadcast did one game,
(30:02):
like one game and like people are already like, oh
my god, it wasn't what we thought. It was so
like him making a comeback, not happening him as a broadcaster.
Let's talk about that. You would have thought he rolled
out the worst performance in the history of broadcasting in
(30:23):
week one, which it wasn't. Was he great? Was he perfect?
Speaker 4 (30:27):
No?
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Was he nervous at times? Yes, it sounded like it,
but people like want finished product right away, Like oh,
I mean like we expect you remember the first time
you started whatever your career was, Like, I could be
honest with you, like, first time ever did a radio show,
it was brutal. First time ever went on air, it
(30:51):
was terrible. And there are still times where I can't
even go back and listen to this show because I'm
embarrassed at the performance. It sucks honest with you, Like
I had Brady Quinn call me a couple of weeks back.
I forget what show it was and just say, hey,
how the show go Like he was on a you know,
leaving Big Noon or whatever it was. He was on
a drive back, say how the show goes?
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Like it sucked?
Speaker 2 (31:14):
What do you mean it just sucked? I didn't like it.
I think it was very good, could have been better.
And I've been like doing this for fifteen years. Tom
Brady has one game and people are ah, by god,
three hundred sucked a million dollars for that, Like dude,
hold on, hold on. First of all, it wasn't like
(31:38):
he was bad, say, and he even came out and said, look,
you know, there's some things I gotta work on. But
you know, I know it's going to get better, yes,
just like anything, and if it doesn't, then you address
that situation when it pops up, like you have no
idea how this thing's going to turn out based on
the first time, meant everybody loved Tony Romo the first
(32:01):
time he started broadcasting, he was predicting plays. Oh my god,
he's a genius. He could see what's happening. And now
nobody wants to listen to him. Like people are bearing
Tony Romo left and right, like, oh my god. I mean,
Greg Olsens so much better than him and this thing,
and like you hear Greg Olsen like talk to Tom,
but he's like, yeah, listen, Like I talked to Tom
(32:22):
and I'm further along, but we're both working through this together.
And there's like, dude, it's one game. He's gonna get better,
Like he'll get better, Cowboys, Saints gonna get better. Like
people were even critical of his voice. Oh my god,
his voice is just not dude, if he's doing play
by play, I get it. You kind of have to
(32:44):
have a certain voice, a certain set, Like if you're
doing play by play, I get it. But now we're
breaking down how his voice sounds like, give it a rest, right,
give it a little time, all right, stop bringing up
his return to the NFL as a player or what
him as an owner is going to be like. And
let's just let this thing play out. Let's listen to
(33:05):
the guy work through this stuff. He's going to get better,
much like he got better as a player, much like
you get better at things the more you do them.
He's going to get better. He's going to improve. Everything's
gonna be fine. Let's just relax. Let's stop ending his
broadcasting career and either putting him as an owner or
(33:25):
as a player or a soccer team. Stop. Let him
work through this stuff. We're one game in. Everything's going
to be fine. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at

Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio Coming up top of next
hour a little over twelve minutes from now from the
Tirerak dot com studios. There are some optics at play.
A controversial story in the NFL, and some optics are
at play. We'll explain what those are again, coming up
here a little over twelve minutes from now. A reminder
(34:27):

x out or tweet out it just sounds weird to
(34:49):
say X I'm sorry at the Jonas Knox. That is
at the Jonas Knox. You can find that link there.
But right now it is time for this.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time.
DMS reports. Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big
stories from the last week. But Jonas, the real question
is do you care?
Speaker 2 (35:13):
And for that we turn it over to our executive
producer Patrick's Week and to find out what the hell
people have been talking about all week?
Speaker 4 (35:18):
Pat all right, Jonas, well, let me tell you. I
got a couple here for you. Let's start our first
with baseball. Jonas, So, Dave Roberts has actually gone out
and not completely ruled out. Show hey o Tawny from
pitching in the postseason. Jonas, do you care? Yeah, listen,
I'm here.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
If it gets to that point, then the Dodgers are
just snake bit this entire year. I mean, you talk
about a team that has been ravaged by injuries. Every
time you feel like, oh my god, y'all, Momoto's back
and this team's gonna gonna make a run, and they
finally have started to establish and once Tyler Glass now comes, no,
he has a setback. It's like free single time somebody
(36:01):
comes back, there's an injury and it falls. So if
it gets to the point to where they need to
go to show hey Otani in the postseason. First of all,
I want to watch it because the guy is one
of the most incredible athletes I've ever seen in my life,
Like we're witnessing rarefied air when it comes to athlete.
I would love to see it because I also think
it's an indication that they run out of options and
(36:22):
they're at this point saying, look, we can't trust anybody
else on this staff. We're just gonna have to roll
with Otani best player at the plate, and we can
hope that he saves us on the mound sometime in
the postseason.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
Next, all right, Jonah. Speaking of who's back, well, you
know what, female breakdancer Rachel Gunn also known as Reygun
she's back and she's been ranked as the number one
breakdancer in the world. Jonas, do you care?
Speaker 9 (36:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (36:49):
I do.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Good for her now. I am team Raygun. I think
all of you Olympic snobs who sat there and criticized
her and said, oh, I mean she duped it to
get a free vacation and blah blah blah. This is
a dude. You put break dancing in the Olympics, What
do you expect It's like getting pissed because the sushi
you got at a gas station sucked. What did you expect?
(37:14):
It's next to like a mini bag of fruit roll
ups that's been there since nineteen eighty. There's like an
open Abba Zaba bar and you think, like the spicy
tuna roll that you pulled out of, there was gonna
be some dynamite sushi that's never been tasted before. It's
break dancing. Why is it in the Olympics. Good for her?
She got more at tension for that awful sport than
(37:37):
they've ever gotten before. I'm proud of her.
Speaker 4 (37:39):
Next all right, Jonas well, Hassan Redick of the Jets,
is you know held out Week one Jets lost to
the Niners. We all know that song and dance. Currently
it's about to be Weak two tomorrow. He's still holding
out despite being needed. Do you care, Jonas? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (37:56):
I do, because he's the real one.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
I love the last real one left who said I'm
not playing. I'm gonna hold out, not like these other
guys who are like, you know what, I'll hold in.
I'll hold no, no, no, He's like, no, listen, we're not
playing this game. I want a new deal. If I
don't get it, I'm not playing and he meant it,
so good for him. How this turns out doesn't make
me feel optimistic about my Jets to win the AFC
(38:17):
East pick, but nonetheless, at least he's sticking to his guns.
Speaker 4 (38:21):
Next, all right, jonas, well, we have internet sensation right now,
because there is I'm sure you've heard of the Savannah
Bananas right right, the exhibition baseball team.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
Let's go, well, do.
Speaker 4 (38:34):
You care that they're pretty much the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball.
They've lost thirteen times this year?
Speaker 2 (38:40):
Do you care? Well, no, because that's not what's important. Here,
By the way, shout out to Papa Sweeka, who had
this recommendation. Here your pops for do you care this week?
You know he's sending over some ideas. Listen, the Savannah
Bananas do goofy stuff. It's weird. It's just minor league
baseball on full tilt, like it is everything you could
(39:03):
possibly expect. They've got beer specials, they've got all sorts
of other fun stuff going on. There's always an event
at the ballpark. That's what you can expect from minor
league baseball. And now let's go live to our I
also have a thought on minor league baseball insider Chris
Purfeft for the Latest School.
Speaker 9 (39:17):
I'm just mad this wasn't in that stadium when I
lived in Savannah. They had like a single a affiliate
for the Mets when I lived in Savannah. It's a
great stadium, don't get me wrong, but like I wish
this was there instead of the sand Natz.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
Listen, it's a great stadium, it's a great city. It's
all over a good time there, and the baseball team
is rocking and rolling, and they made an appearance here
on Do you care next?
Speaker 1 (39:40):
All right?
Speaker 4 (39:41):
Jonas, the pac twelve or should I say Packed two
at this point has actually made some moves, invading the
Mountain West and potentially a luring four of their teams.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
Do you care?
Speaker 2 (39:51):
No, I don't care. I'm done. I'm done with this craft.
Speaker 1 (39:54):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
It's not our fault that you're always the last one
to figure it out. When COVID was happening, who was
the last conference to kind of get it together and go, oh,
you know, upon a second thought, I think we could
play games, you know, now that we think about it,
I think we could probably figure this out. It was
always the PAC twelve. They couldn't get a TV deal together.
It was And now after everything, we're focused on the
(40:16):
year and we're focused on the new playoff. The PAC
twelve's like, oh hey, so I think we're gonna get
some more teams. We're gonna get the conference back together.
I'm done with it. I don't care next.
Speaker 4 (40:25):
All right, Jonas. Rapper Lil Wayne went on to say
that he has broken broken Jonas over being snubbed by
Kendrick Lamar for the Super Bowl halftime show.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
Do you care?
Speaker 2 (40:37):
No, I couldn't care. I don't care. Listen, no disrespect
to Lil Wayne or Kendrick Lamar or Lamar Odom or whoever.
I'm sure it's going to be a great performance. But
I'll be honest with you, I don't really care about
the halftime performance of the Super Bowl. I'm looking at
my Super Bowl squares. I'm getting another beer, I'm getting
something to eat. I'm trying to figure out how much
(40:58):
money I lost. I got bigger problem. I can't worry
about this feud and somebody being heartbroken about it. I
got my own so we got some optics at play
some optics at play in the world of football over
one hot topic. We'll explain why that is coming up
here in just a couple of moments from now, Jonas
Knox Fox Sports Radio. You can listen to us as
(41:21):
always on the iHeartRadio app. You can find us on
hundreds of affiliates all across the country wherever you are,
making us a part of your Saturday morning into the afternoon.
By the way, it's still Saturday morning in Hawaii and
they're listening on Fox Sports nine ninety, so deal with it.
We're doing the show live from the tire rack dot
Com studios. Tire rack dot com. We'll help you get there,
an unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road has a
(41:43):
protection and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire rack dot
com the way tire buying should be. All right, So
we got some optics at play, all right, let's just
go ahead and discuss it now. We opened up the
show we were talking about the you know, Christian McCaffrey situation.
He's got the he's tendonis and he's got the calf
issues and now the forty nine ers have officially placed
(42:04):
him on ir All right, now, they've had to be
a little bit more transparent about it because there might
have been some funny stuff when it came to whether
or not Jordan Mason found out on Friday, and whether
or not he found out Monday, and whether or not. So,
you know, I think it's no coincidence that Kyle Shanahan
made it a point to let everybody know, Yeah, Christian
suffered a setback. Yesterday was his worst day, and then
(42:28):
a day later today he comes back and says, and
the forty nine ers announced he's going on IR So
totally understood, very transparent, got it. He's out for the
next four games. Look, I think it's an opportunity for
brock Perdy to shine. It's an opportunity for him to
prove what is already inevitable. He's going to get paid,
and we get to see how the San Francisco deals
(42:49):
without having potentially the best player on their team outside
of Trent Williams. So that being said, we are covered there,
and then we get over to two atucko by law,
and I made this point. You may not like this,
you may not be a fan of it, but the
decision to return and play if left up to him
(43:11):
most likely will mean that he wants to come back
and play. I'm sorry, but there's a reason why you
have tests. If you pass those tests, who were you
to say that he can't come back and play? And
I get the concern. Look, we're all concerned, Like I
(43:32):
totally get it, Like family is concerned, coaches, players, like
everybody's concerned. I understand, But this is his decision, Like
he's making the call here if cleared. So if he's cleared,
he should have the opportunity to pick and choose when
he comes back and plays, and if they deem that
he's okay to do so, I got no issue with it.
(43:56):
I'm sorry. And look I say that with full acknowledgment
because the question, the conversation is going to be, well,
what if he suffers another one? He's probably gonna suffer
another one. It's football, guys, stuff for concussions. Every week,
every game, somebody's getting banged up. Like, I mean, I
(44:21):
don't know what to tell you, Like, yeah, it's probably
gonna happen. It's not a nice game. It's sanctioned violence.
Like you can't. I mean, if you want to get
my guardian cap, that's fine. You want to take whatever
precaution you could. I think it would help him to slide.
That would probably help. I know he gives himself up
a little bit there. But like that play on Thursday
night didn't need to happen. It didn't. So while we're
(44:46):
all sitting here arguing back and forth about, you know,
whether or not he should be allowed to play, I
think majority of people are like Elos, he should retire,
he should walk away from the game. I'm more of
a if he wants to play, go do your thing, dude,
don't let me get in the way. That's your call.
If you're cleared and we believe in the testing that's
(45:08):
done during concussion protocol, and we think that you have
passed all these tests, then you should go out and play.
Here's the other element of this though, that you could
be on one side of the fence or another. You
can't argue with it. The optics. The optics are play here.
(45:32):
The look on Tua when he suffers these concussions, they
ain't good, dude. They're just not the fencing position or
whatever they called where his hands lock up and his
arms locked like it happens every time. And he'll come
(45:52):
back and he's played a lot of games and taking
hits and all that, and he's fine. But there is
something about when he gets hit in the head and
suffers these concussions that is scary, and I think that's
part of what is happening here. Like I have no idea,
neither of you, what the long term effects of these are.
(46:14):
I don't. And people can say, what about CTE, it's okay, Well,
you don't really know if you have it until after
you've already passed and they look at your brain, and yes,
there's a lot of players who later on in life
really struggle and have those issues. And there's a lot
of players who play in a long time you don't
see any of that stuff none, Like that's not visible.
(46:36):
Like it's not a one size fits all situation. But
with Tua, the one thing that makes this difficult and
makes the issue such a hot topic is the fact
that we've seen it play out on standalone stages and
the clinching of the hands and the straightening of the arm.
(47:00):
That's where this thing took a turn. Like if you
found out that Tuas suffered a concussion on Thursday night
after the game, you know he went into the locker
room after the game. We didn't feel right and they
diagnosed him with a concussion. It's like, oh okay, cool,
Like you know, listen, take your rest, go through the protocol.
It's the way that it looked. It's the look. It's
(47:25):
the optics. And I think that's part of what is
happening here. And that's part of why the discussion and
why the concern is because we've actually seen it. Like
there were concussions in Week one. There's going to be
concussions this week, Week three, all the way through Week eighteen,
there's going to be concussions. But if they don't play
(47:46):
out like that, the conversation isn't what it is. And
I think that's sort of where the NFL and the
Dolphins are going to have to battle this. Like I'll
just like I if you were to asked to right now,
hey do you want to keep playing? I would be
willing to bet everything I own. Yeah, of course. Like
(48:08):
he's a tough dude, Like he's gone through injuries. He
always comes back his career at Alabama, like went through injuries,
multiple ankle surgeries, he had the stuff with his hip,
like they were like he like he went through it
a lot of like serious injuries always came back. First
concussions he suffered, wanted to come back, family tried to
(48:31):
talk him out of playing again, wanted to come back,
like he's going to want to come back. Where this
thing takes a turn is the look, because you know,
it's like, it's one thing to have an argument with
somebody or or a fight, like if you argue with
your wife or your significant other. It's one thing to
have those arguments behind closed doors. It's another for them
to be seen in public. And then all of a sudden, oh,
(48:54):
it takes a different turn because now you've got witnesses.
The problem for Tua, as much as he may want
to come back, is that not only did people see it,
a lot of people saw it, like and everyone was
thinking the same thing when it happened. Oh no, here
we go again. This looks just like the one he
(49:16):
suffered against Cincinnati, ironically on Thursday night football. That's the
other unfortunate aspect of it is the fact that it's
been so witnessed by so many people that now the
conversation becomes, oh, hold on, I say, this is an
ugly look this I mean, this is not you know,
(49:37):
we are concerned for that. It's like, man, if this
happened and he, you know, had walked off the field
and then got diagnosed after the game, it's one thing.
It's the fact that we've seen it and it's looked
like this, and I'm not look I'm not a doctor
or a professional. I have no idea whether the fencing
position means that you've suffered a more serious like. Man,
(49:58):
they tell you all the time, like in fighting when
a guy gets knocked out, like you know, there's the
double concussion. Guy gets knocked out to the chin, hits
the back of his head on the canvas like they're like,
they tell you, but you need to get looked at
afterwards to find out, like in boxing an MMA and fight,
like if you suffer a bad knockout, they'll suspend your
(50:19):
license for ninety days or so to where you cannot
have any contact. You are not cleared for contact for
ninety something days because they want to make sure that
you're okay when you come back. And then sometimes guys
come back and they're never the same. You find their
chin once and all of a sudden, the punch or
a shot they could take earlier in their career they
(50:41):
can't take that shot anymore. Chuck Litel is one of
the original pioneers of the UFC. Guy was in firefights wars,
could always take a shot, and then he got knocked
out and just after that his chin wasn't what it was.
I have no idea if two us at that place,
I don't know. But what I do know is that
(51:03):
a lot of people have now seen it multiple times
where it looks real bad. So you can argue he
should retire. I think it should be left up to
him if he clears testing. The other aspect of this
that does kind of throw a wrench into either discussion,
and the entire thing is the fact that we've all
seen it and it looks bad every single time he
(51:23):
goes through it. So that's the uh. It will remain
to be seen how they go about this, but I
think they're gonna have to battle that, the Dolphins and
the NFL when it comes to him getting back on
the field. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio, at the
Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox on X We've got
positive feedback as always on the show. Tony writes in Tuna,
(51:48):
talking about too is the opposite of Joni Joff. He
only gets concussed when he tries to handle the bleeps
of his beefcave, going back and forth getting laid out
by them like the bleep you always will be. JC
writes in why are you still on the air, you
(52:12):
stinky d bag. The folks at FSR must think you're
a bleeping charity case. They give you a microphone because
you don't have one in your pants. You no bleeped
bleep tard assessing slimy bleep bleep bleep see bleep, Go
eat some lasagna. First of all, I am not Italian.
(52:39):
I haven't had lasagna in a long ass time, by
the way. And then the other one I can't read.
But the point is a lot of feedback here on
the show. People are very are very upset at certain
things that have been said thus far on the show.
And again we are often running here on a Saturday
afternoon at the Jonas Knox. I will retweet as many
(53:01):
of those as I possibly can that are suitable for
being retweeted, some of those I can't. And again, his
name is Tua, not Tuna, for the gentlemen that sent
that in coming up next year though from the tirak
dot com Studios. There is potentially some concern for one
franchise in the NFL, but I am going to stand
(53:24):
by them because I have no choice in the matter.
I'll tell you who they are right here at FSR
Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. So we're gonna get to
this situation in the NFL. I mean, I'm supporting a
team through their first game struggle because I don't really
(53:45):
have a say in the matter. I'll explain why that
is coming up here a little over actually, just a
couple of minutes from now, because I do want to
hit on this because college football, the opening window of
games are starting to wind down. The big match, I guess,
the top twenty five matchup as far as ranked teams
goes sees Missouri and Boston College. Missouri's got a ten
(54:06):
point lead there early in the fourth Alabama's completely annihilating Wisconsin.
At this point, it has not been good. It has
just gone final a couple of moments ago, forty two
to ten, and I'm not sure it was even that close.
But the game everybody is watching and sort of marveling
at is the South Carolina LSU game. South Carolina's got
(54:27):
a four point lead early in the fourth quarter. They
were also leading this game and up early and then
LSU has made a comeback and bounce back, but South
Carolina off a turnover, has just kicked a field goals.
So they have got a thirty three to twenty nine
lead just over ten minutes left to go in the
game there at Williams Brice. And what's great about so
somebody who covered college football and has been to games
(54:51):
there at Williams Brice, it doesn't get the recognition it
deserves for being a really fun atmosphere. That place gets wild.
And when South care Carolina is competitive and they're playing
another SEC school like an LSU or an Alabama there
in Colombia, it is phenomenal. And just being out there
as many times as I have just to see the crowd,
(55:13):
to see the student section, to see how closed in
everybody feels. Shane Beemer walking around, firing up the crowd,
his dad's in the press box watching down on him.
It is a fun, fun place to be right now.
And so you're seeing it play out, especially you know
mid late September, you know, maybe some rain could be
(55:37):
in the forecast, humidity, like that's college football at Williams Brice.
So it's fun to see that game turn into the
wild one that it is. I've been to many of those.
Always a good time seeing South Carolina role at home
because that fan base gets after it, and I think
they serve booze in the stadium. Now I can tell
you what the tailgates like outside the stadium, Jesus. I
(56:01):
just if you are an uber driver in and around
Columbia South Carolina, just hang out by the stadium. You'll
be fine. You'll do plenty of business depending on those
those fiends leaving the game. By the way, it's a
big third and one for LSU right now. Ten minutes
in counting left in the game. Lshot with the football
(56:21):
on their own thirty four yard line, down by four,
and they are stopped. It looks like so they're going
to face a critical fourth down there at Williamsprice. So
that place is rocking, And if South Carolina pulls this
game out, they are gonna be going wild there in
and around the stadium, all right, Jonas Knox here Fox
Sports Radio. So I don't really have a say in
the matter. I'll just say this, when it comes to
(56:47):
this situation, I was not prepared for the Cincinnati Bengals
to not only not cover these set and a half
point spread that they were favored by last week, but
also not win the game period against the Patriots. I
(57:10):
was not prepared for that, all right. I was absolutely
not prepared for that outcome, as has been noted in
Knox Locks and it being one of my picks last week.
Speaker 3 (57:23):
Right.
Speaker 2 (57:23):
Not great, not a great to start to the season.
I think New England, at least I did before the
start of the year, is going to be the worst
team in the NFL upon further review, maybe not now
just one week, got it, We're all good here. But
if you listen to Jamar Chase, who's looking to get
paid who apparently they've got a little bit of a
difference in you know, what the guaranteed payout structure is
(57:46):
going to be and what he's going to see those guarantees,
and that's sort of what the hold up is. I'm
getting the deal done. If you listen to Jamar Chase,
they still feel like they're the team to beat the AFC.
Speaker 1 (57:58):
Everybody knows that it's not. If you know what I'm saying,
we are the team to be in ALC and we
know it.
Speaker 2 (58:04):
You know, we got to act like it and we
got to play like it too. Well. I was your hope,
so you know, because I've got you going to the
super Bowl. So if you could kind of figure this
thing out, you know, if you could kind of get
it together, I'd appreciate it. The problem is this, there's
a couple of problems. Number one, they lose to New England,
which should have been a gimmie because New England stinks.
(58:25):
I'm sorry, I another one to know, but New England stinks.
They should have beaten New England. They did not, and
they look bad. And now you're on the road at
Kansas City and you're six and a half point underdogs.
You can look at it and say, well, yeah, but
you know, they play Cincinnati or they play Kansas City
really well. And Joe Burrow is one of the rare
(58:45):
quarterbacks who's had success against Patrick Mahomes and all of
that is true. But like you know, we're still kind
of working through whatever's going on with Joe Burrow and
the wrist issue and all that. And while I do
think that the him picking up the water bottle and
people wondering if he was struggling picking up a water bottle, Like,
(59:06):
I mean, I think we're going a bit far here,
Like I didn't see anything with the water bottle grip
that would lead me to believe that we should just
go ahead and assume Joe Burrow is done and he's
damaged goods and he can't. But like there is going
to be a certain amount of time it takes for
them to get back and get back to one hundred percent. Now,
(59:26):
I think in that division, it's a flawed division. I
don't think it's the It'll be interesting to see a
play out because I'm not mistaken. They're the hard knocks
team in season this year. So with all the other stuff,
the mess it is the Browns and Deshaun Watson. I'm
not not sold on Baltimore. I didn't like the way
they responded after losing that game to Kansas City. It
(59:49):
was like everything was, well, you know, we're in denial
and you know we should have beaten them, and he's like, okay,
well have it. You didn't and you haven't beaten them
the best two times, and in fact, those are your
last two games, losses to Kansas City, one at home. Like,
I still think there's an opportunity for Cincinnati to get
back in this thing. But you know Joe Burrow's health.
(01:00:10):
T Higgins is banged up. Now You've got people questioning
whether or not T Higgins is like legitimately injured or
if he's just like the hamstring's not as serious. And
this is all about his contract. It's like, dude, like whatever, Like,
first of all, the deadline is passed for T. Higgins
to get a deal done, like he's on the franchise
(01:00:31):
tag and there's nothing you can do about it. So
like him like, h yeah, but he's trying to get
to free agency healthy. Well, no, like you'd want to
put your best film out there, correct, Like you'd want
to perform to the best of your ability in a
contract year. Him sitting out isn't going to help him.
Like when you see how many wide receivers come out
(01:00:54):
in the draft that produce right away in the NFL
every single year, and it's not even just first rounders.
It could be mid round picks whatever, Puka Nakua, like
what like when you see that, Like T Higgins is
not in a place to just mail in this year
on his franchise tag and then just hit free agency
and get paid next year, because teams would look at
(01:01:16):
it and go, man, last year, like what have you
done for me lately? Like you weren't all that effective.
People questioned your durability, so on and so forth. We'll
just go on the cheap and draft a wide receiver
that's going to produce right away in the draft, like
we're like, we're not going to play games here. So
the idea that T Higgins maybe isn't his banged up
and no, he probably is a little banged up, and
(01:01:37):
Jamar Chase was a little banged up and he's got
the contract stuff and Joe Burrow's wrist. So look, I'm
with Jamar Chase because I have to, Like I don't
have a say in the matter. It's like you're already here,
like they look, I mean, listen, we're together, we got kids.
May as well make it work like it is what
(01:01:59):
it is. The you know, the ability to opt out
at this point and kind of go your separate ways
and kind of distant no, no, Like I'm in. I've
taken the Bengals to go to the super Bowl. That
was my AFC representative. And I say that knowing they're
probably gonna lose tomorrow, and I'm gonna have to hear
about it on the show coming up on Monday. I'm
telling you Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio at the
(01:02:21):
Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox on x SO. Coming
up next here, we are going to tell you about
what could turn out to be one of the biggest
falls from grace in recent NFL history, playing out before
our very eyes. We'll get into that for you next,
but first for all the latest from around the world
of sports.
Speaker 1 (01:02:40):
It's Martin Wise, Jonathans.
Speaker 8 (01:02:42):
We've got two games right now from my early slate,
still kind of in question. South Carolina doing a number
on LSU right now, thirty three to twenty nine South
Carolina with the ball eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.
LSU obviously lost last week to USC. Could they drop
another one to another USC and co executive weeks we'll see.
Right now, I list to the sixteenth ranked team in
(01:03:03):
the nation, number six, Missouri.
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
The Tigers are right.
Speaker 8 (01:03:06):
Now with a ten point lead over Boston College twenty
four to fourteen, there seven minutes left in the fourth quarter.
Boston College, you know, coached by Bill O'Brien. This season,
you know, his first year there after Jeff Affley took
the defensive coordinator's.
Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
Job in Green Bay.
Speaker 8 (01:03:23):
Brady Cook with twenty fifty three yards passing and a touchdown,
and he adds a rushing touchdown as well. Thomas Casiano's
two touchdowns through the air one hundred and eighty yards
one hundred and eighty one yards passing. We'll see if
they're able to come back and make it a game.
Games that just wrapped up Alabama, likes you said a
minute ago. Put a pounded on Wisconsin forty two to ten.
Jalen Milroe with five total touchdowns. I believe that brings
(01:03:46):
his season total through two games up to fourteen touchdowns,
both through the air and rushing. For Jalen Milroe, look
for him potentially if Alabama keeps winning in New York
when this thing all all said and done. At the
Heisman Game, did see Oklahoma State be Tulsa forty five
to ten.
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
Oklaom'said the thirteenth Rainey team in the nation.
Speaker 8 (01:04:04):
Allen Bowman three hundred ninety six yard passing, five touchdowns
through the air. Michigan rebounded up that I lost to
Texas last week. Pounded Arkansas State twenty eight to eighteen.
Davis wore those three interceptions. They have a true quarterback problem.
The problem is, Jonas, they don't have one. The start
(01:04:25):
delayed at Miami and Bald State Miami, the tenth th
rane team in the nation getting kicked off in just
the moment. Here we'll see Oregon, Oregon State, that rivalry game,
Tulane in Oklahoma, Notre du Notre Dame, and Perdue. There
you go in state rivalry there in Indiana and Utah
and Utah State in about an hour. Christian McCaffrey's on
injured reserve due to CAF tightness and achilles tendoniti. That
(01:04:48):
means he is out for at least the next four games.
Speaker 1 (01:04:52):
You'll remember he already missed the opener.
Speaker 8 (01:04:55):
Jordan Mason got to start there too much internet what's
the word chaos says he wasn't sure if he was
starting Friday or whatever Kyle Shannon had to say. But
look for Jordan Mason to get the lion's share of
the work for the least the next four games.
Speaker 1 (01:05:11):
Jonas, back to you, paw.
Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
Hey Martin. Is that Ballston Miami game? Is that a
weather delay or they got lightning in the area.
Speaker 10 (01:05:17):
Seems to be a weather delay. Yes, hey, you're from
the South, right I am, I'm New Orleans. Like clockwork September.
Football delays in the South. It seemingly every year there's
an issue.
Speaker 1 (01:05:29):
I mean, because this is the problem.
Speaker 8 (01:05:31):
We start football season in the midst of hurricane season.
I'm sitting here looking at the two lane timeline. Is
it getting ready to play Oklahoma? They had to look.
They checked into a hotel on Tuesday. They practiced at
the same facility Wednesday. Where to walk through at a hotel
on Thursday? Why did they do all that? Because there's
a hurricane in the Gulf, right.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
That's I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
Yeah, it's like I'm stunned that the Dolphins Jaguars game
didn't have a delay last week. Yes, I just assumed
it will, Like, oh, okay, it's gonna happen.
Speaker 8 (01:05:59):
Yeah, you know, you're running from kickoff TI about October first,
you are in hurricane zone. So if in the southeastern
corner of the United States, you know you're it's gonna
you might be in for one.
Speaker 1 (01:06:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
So the tenth ranked Hurricanes, they're gonna have to wait
a little bit for that game with ball stage kickoff.
It is Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio. Thanks Martin.
Coming up here in about fifteen minutes from now. We
are going to have another edition of Knox Locks. A
lot of people are running their mouth. Don't worry. We're
back for round two. They're gonna keep me down. Get
back up, answer the bell and we will respond. Coming
(01:06:34):
up here about fifteen minutes from now. Feel much better
about these picks this week than I did last week.
I'll tell you that, by the way. A reminder, speaking
of picks, Countdown to Kickoff football fans be sure to
tune in to Fox Sports Radio every Sunday morning, beginning
at ten am Eastern time, seven am Pacific for Countdown

presented by Bet MGM right here on Fox Sports Radio
and the I Heart Radio app. So, when the Seattle
Seahawks made the decision to trade Russell Wilson a couple
(01:07:16):
of years ago, I'll be totally honest with you, I
kind of understood it, but it felt like it was
a kind of a risky move because I mean, look,
he's one of the better quarterbacks in the NFL. Why
But my impression of the situation was he just wasn't
(01:07:37):
getting along with Pete Carroll. That relationship had run its course.
That's just where we were at. Like it wasn't so
much about it. Yeah he had the mallet finger and
all that, but it wasn't like he was just awful
or just I looked at it and I said, the
relationship had soured. It was time for them to go
their separate ways, and they chose Pete Carroll over Russell Wilson.
(01:08:01):
I didn't expect this because there's a chance with reports
out in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette that yeah, Russell Wilson
is going to travel with the team to Denver, but
he's not gonna play, and Justin Fields is gonna start,
(01:08:22):
and in fact, Justin Field is going to start week
three as well. Two like when those reports are out.
And remember we talked about it at the time when
this popped up during training camp, this calf issue. At
the start of training camp, I said, keep your eyes.
Speaker 5 (01:08:36):
Out on that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:37):
Something feels off here, and now we're at the point
to where it's gonna be week four before he's even
able to suit up. And what happens if Justin Fields
plays well in week two, they go into Denver on
the road and they win that game. That'll be two
(01:09:00):
road games in a row you've won with Justin Fields
as your quarterback. And if he just isn't bad with
the football, and you get back home and you have
your home opener against the Chargers and you win that game,
you mean to tell me, Mike Tomlin, when Russell Wilson
is ready to go, If the Steelers are playing well
(01:09:21):
and they're winning games and Justin Fields just isn't turning
the ball over, it's just a foregone conclusion. He's gonna
give the ball to Russell Wilson and say, hey, it's
your team now. I don't think so, Like there's a
real opportunity Russell Wilson never starts a game for the
Pittsburgh Steelers, which, if you were to go back in
(01:09:43):
time and go back to win Seattle made the trade
of Russell Wilson to Denver. If I were to tell
you that was the peak, that was the pinnacle, It's
all downhill from here, like I wouldn't believe myself. Well,
I wouldn't have believed it because I thought it was
(01:10:03):
more about relationships that had gone sour and not the
performance or the play that had gone sour. And instead
here we are, and it feels like maybe his body's
failing him. He's not responding the way he used to
some of the injuries and some of the nagging issues
that have popped up, like the calf issue. Like it
(01:10:23):
feels like a real problem and a problem that Russell
Wilson may never get solved with Pittsburgh because what would
you It's not like you have a ton of money
committed to him. It's not like it's a business decision.
I mean, you're paying pennies to him and Justin Fields,
like Mike Tomlin's big gripe against Justin Fields in the
(01:10:45):
preseason wasn't so much the plays he made, It was
the turnovers he committed. Like he even made a comment
it kind of negated, you know, all the positive stuff
he did in the game in the preseason because he
turned the ball over. He didn't turn the ball over
last week. If he just plays serviceable football and doesn't
turn the ball over and they're winning games. Why the
(01:11:06):
hell would Mike Tomlin go back to Russell Wilson or
go to him? Why not even go back he hasn't
played yet, Like, why would he go to him? So
to think that when he left Seattle it was hey
denver Land and another future Hall of Fame quarterback. To
go from that to now he's in Pittsburgh and he
(01:11:27):
might be traded from the Steelers because he can't get
on the field and some team might need a veteran courtA.
It's wild to think where he was at and where
he is now because it didn't take all that long
at all. Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio at

Speaker 1 (01:12:48):

Speaker 2 (01:12:50):
Quick update before we get to the week two edition
of Knox Locks, because you know some of you, some
of you cowards who don't have the balls to address
your l's, like you'll just you'll make a couple of
bad picks and you'll disappear. Not us. We actually address
those ls, so we will be getting to that here momentarily.
Don't you worry. Game of the Day in college football
(01:13:12):
thus far LSU South Carolina, and right now, South Carolina
has a thirty three to twenty nine lead at Williams
Brice in Columbia, two minutes left to go in the game.
LSU is driving. They've got the ball inside South Carolina territory.
There was just a fourth down couple of flags on
(01:13:34):
the play, so they were waiting to see there's an
offside penalty against South Carolina. That one has been declined,
and so LSU, with a big completion down the sideline
has a first down deep inside South Carolina territory. It
has been a tremendous football game. LSU battled back early,
(01:13:55):
they were trailing early. That place is wild and so
now they're going to take a look at the catch
that was ruled completion because it does look like the
LSU player's knee is out of bounds when he caught
the football. So we'll keep you posting on that depending
on how that shakes out, but they're probably going to
review that bring it back. But LSU should have a
(01:14:15):
first down regardless with the offside penalty to South Carolina.
So that is the update game of the day thus
far in college football. Two minutes left to go there
in Williams Price. We will give you the finish to
that here on Fox Sports Radio. Let you know how
it plays out. But let's go ahead and address the
elephant in the room. Everybody just assumes we're going to
back away and get scared and get nervous. My ass,
(01:14:39):
it's week two and it's time for this.
Speaker 3 (01:14:42):
Locked it, let's lock it knocks locks.
Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
All right, So let's talk about last week. All right?
What do you want to hear? You want to hear
that maybe part way through that game, I realized that
the Bengals minus seven and a half against the Patriots
was a bad pick. Yeah, I realized it. Not great.
Stay out of this, Monseie. Nobody asked you. Not great,
(01:15:10):
A little bit of a problem. I assumed New England
would be the worst team in the league. So what
did they do? They showed up, and I got news
for you. If this ends up being their only win
of the season, it's a disgrace. And it was a
direct shot at Knox Locks. I'm gonna tell you that
right now. So I lost that one Bengals minus seven
and a half, big fat l. Then you got the
(01:15:32):
Steelers and the Falcons. I just assumed, I mean, how
dare me that the Atlanta Falcons at home with Kirk
Cousins and this new look offense could figure it out
as a small favorite against the Steelers, who had to
start justin fields because Russell Wilson wasn't healthy. I just
(01:15:55):
assumed that, And I assumed Pittsburgh, the team with the
worst core situation in the AFC North, would be the
team that would struggle this year. And guess what happened.
They were the only one that won last week. So
that was another lock. And let me tell you something here.
If Matthew Stafford completes that third down ball to Cooper
(01:16:16):
Cup late in that game against the Lions, let me
tell you right here, we're talking right now about the
one to zero LA rams, who didn't even need the
four and a half points they were to win that
game out right, but instead Detroit came back, tie, game
goes to overtime. Detroit got just gashed LA in overtime.
(01:16:37):
They were worn down, and the next thing you know,
the Lions win the game out right, and they win
it by six because the game went to overtime. So
all of that being said, an zero to three start
to the year but we are back. We are back
with a vengeance. It's time for Week two. I thought
Giants said commanders. I'm taking the commanders, and do you
want to know why I'm taking the commanders. It's a really,
(01:16:59):
really sound theory because the Giants are awful. That's why
Washington is a point favorite point and a half, depending
on where you look. I'm surprised it's that close. I
get it. It's a rookie quarterback. But although he wasn't great,
it's not like he lit up Tampa Bay. Jade and
Daniels probably looked better than both of the other rookie
(01:17:21):
quarterbacks who started games last week. If we're being honest here,
Caleb Williams no clue what the hell that was. Bo
Nick struggled. But I'll take Jad and Daniels and I'll
take the Commanders here. I think the Giants are a mess.
I think there's they finished the season before it even started.
When you had all the noise in the offseason about
(01:17:41):
Daniel Jones, you go on Hard Knocks, everybody's outing him.
Then you go see what Saquon Barkley did after you
let him walk. They come in last week, they're playing
Sam Darnold and the Vikings and got completely blow towards.
It was a disaster. Brian Daballs already asked being asked
questions about whether or not Danil Jones is going to
be the starting quarterback moving for like, the whole thing's
(01:18:03):
a mess. I will take Washington here. I think they
bounce back and they're only a point and a half favorite.
Speaker 1 (01:18:08):
Give me the.
Speaker 2 (01:18:08):
Commanders, Cook Raiders, and Ravens. I got news for you.
That game kicks off at one Eastern time tomorrow and
Baltimore's already up fourteen. I'll take Baltimore. I think the
Raiders have got problems this year. I really do. Look
they might be a little competitive in some of these
games at home. Maybe they were a little competitive against
the Chargers last year. It feels like this thing could
(01:18:30):
go off the rails in a hurry. You already have
people giving Antonio Pierce the side eye for his clock
management late in that game. I think Baltimore bounces back.
It's going to be at home. They've got extra rest
coming off the Thursday night game to open up the season.
I like the Ravens here minus the eight Steelers and Broncos. Listen,
I know I'm talking all about Russell Wilson and he
(01:18:51):
may not ever see the field for the for the
Pittsburgh Steelers, but if there's anything you know about their counterpart,
his former team, the Denver Broncos, the Broncos at home
early in the year have always been really really good
and really really good against the spread. It's been what
they've been known for. Because of the altitude, maybe teams
aren't in shape, and in this game Denver, yes, with
(01:19:15):
a rookie quarterback, but they're getting two and a half points.
I think that's a bit of an overreaction based on
what happened last week at Atlanta for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I'll take Denver. I'll take that history at Mile High,
and I'll take them getting points to open up the
season in Denver. And that is your Week two edition
of Knoxvin Well. I'll tell you what I know.
Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
That's the dumbest I heard of.
Speaker 2 (01:19:41):
Yeah, probably, but at least they got the balls to
answer the bell. I don't quit after an zero to
three performance, so we'll see how that goes. There's been
a fun one. I want to thank Patrick Chris, I
want to think Martin Weiss. Thanks to everybody you listen
and by the way, stick around. Alex and Carmen will
have details on how things finish up in the wild
One between LSU and South Carolina. Here on f s
