Speaker 1 (00:01):
I have to stop from the beginning, Jonas Knocks, you
thought you knew me.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
You didn't know anything about me. He's crazier than a else.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
Wrecked that guy, Jonas Knocks.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
You heard me, Friends, some darkness is lighting up your
speakers to establish an alibi for the day. Live from
the tire rack dot Com Fox Sports Radio Studios, here's
Jonas Knox.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Yep, okay, I'll be part of this world. So there
is something that has been proven correct yet again in

(00:50):
the world of sports, in the world of football specifically.
We'll tell you what that is coming up here in
just a couple of moments from now, Jonas Knox, Fox
Sports Radio. You can hang out with us as always
on the iHeartRadio app. You know, you can find us
on hundreds of affiliates all across the country and wherever
you are making us a part of your Saturday morning
into the afternoon. We appreciate you doing so. We are

(01:12):
going to take you all the way up until four
pm Eastern time one o'clock Pacific, and we're doing it
all loneti iraq dot Com Studios ti iraq dot Com.
We'll helpe you get there. An unmatched selection, fast, free
shipping free, road has a protection and over ten thousand
recommended installers ti iraq dot com the way tire buying
should be. So we've talked about this before and have

(01:33):
had this discussion like you cannot dispute the fact that
the NFL's king, Like you can't. And we were mentioning
this yesterday on Two Pros and a Cup of Joe
because we are live in State College right now as
they're getting ready for the big matchup, a Top twenty
matchup between Illinois and Penn State later on tonight, and
so you know, we were talking about how the NFL is

(01:56):
so dominant that Aaron Judge is on the verse of
hitting sixty home runs and it's kind of like, a
oh man, that's pretty neat. Like, I mean, he's right
on the doorstep. Now whether he does it, who knows,
probably not, but he's right there. Shoheo. Tani did something
that we've never seen before in the world of sports,
a fifty to fifty and it's like it back in

(02:19):
the day, had that happen, that would have been the
top story, the lead everywhere you turn, and instead, you know,
it's stories about the NFL and Brandon Ayuk's tantrums and
all the other things that come along with it that
people want to take in because the NFL's king, and
we all know that. But one of the things that
becomes really obvious, especially when you come to a place

(02:43):
like State College and you know, we're the graduate hotel
and the whole setup has been phenomenal. But one of
the things that becomes so obvious when you're in the
midst of it, and people that live in these big
time college football powerhouse towns or in around them or
venture out to them to go see games, you cannot

(03:05):
deny the fact that the atmosphere around college football blows
the NFL and anything else in sports away. It ain't
even close. Like quality of play on the field, the
NFL's king, storylines, interest, entertainment, all that stuff. NFL's king,
nobody can touch it. When it comes to the atmosphere,

(03:30):
the build up, the vibe, the energy, like the pageantry,
like all of that stuff that comes along with it,
you can't. There's nothing close, and it ramps up and
it builds up every single day. Like we were fortunate
enough to be able to go to the Super Bowl.
And one of the things about the Super Bowl. In
being there with the build up for the super Bowl,

(03:52):
it's great. You know we get to be live do
shows from there. You know you can get guess I
mean not in our time slot. Nobody's getting up it
at three in the morning to come do radio row
on our time slot. But the point is you're there.
You get to see the sites and the sounds and
the energy and it's Super Bowl Week and as the
week goes on, it kind of ramps up. But there

(04:12):
is a corporate feel to it, like there just is,
because that's why people do those hits. They're bouncing around.
They want to promote whatever product they've got going on
with college football and these game day environments, whether it's
big noon kickoffs on the set of wherever they're at.
They could be in Orlando this week and Urborn next week,

(04:33):
they could be in Linc in the week after, like
whatever it is game day. Like that energy and that
excitement level and that vibe that you get on a
college campus or in and around a college campus is
unmatched anywhere in the NFL. You can't find it. And
the NFL does have a little bit of what the

(04:54):
Super Bowl has, and then it's got a little bit
of a corporate feel like anybody who's ever gone to
a game. It's so it's like walking into a hospital
like just I mean, that's why I call it the
world's largest gazebo. You come to a college town like this,
like you come in and around like we're in the
football building right now, the stadium's right around like it is.

(05:17):
Un if you can, I cannot recommend get out to
a big time college game or college campus. It doesn't
even have to be a big time matchup. It could
be Penn State playing seven to eleven Tech. It doesn't matter.
Like whatever you can do to get out to one
of these matchups and get out to one of these
games just to feel the experience of it. Cannot recommend

(05:38):
it enough. It remains undefeated, the NFL is king. We
all get it. But when it comes to atmosphere, energy,
the game day environment surrounding college football, nothing comes close.
Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio, get me on X
on Twitter at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox.
So you know how like you're getting like details of

(06:02):
a story and it's like, uh, just feels kind of weird,
and you could have this conversation with the buddy who's
trying to explain to you, you know, what happened or
why he was late, or you know, he's trying to
explain to you like oh yeah, well you know, uh god,
this just crazy. You know, I want to go turn
down this road and that she you know, a deer

(06:22):
ran across the street. You know, he's being chased by
a gorilla and I'm like okay, and then you know
next and it's like you just get more details and
more details. You're like, this just feels weird, and it
feels like it's gonna end awkwardly, you know what I mean.
Like there's just and look, I'm not trying to bring
up anybody's relationships. Like maybe she comes home and you're like,

(06:43):
you know, h it seems a little bit later you
set eleven, it's two thirty. You smell a clone? What
did we what's what do we get?

Speaker 4 (06:53):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Guys, who's the uber driver? Like I was I was
gonna fall and he like caught me and like, you know,
I didn't want to drop my to go Bag's like, well,
you don't really have food, but like it's just like
people will give you these stories and ultimately what it
comes down to, is it's not gonna end all that well,
just is what it is. We've all been there, maybe

(07:14):
we've done it again. Not judging. If you're sitting next
to somebody who recently did it, don't judge them. You
probably do it the same thing. All right, it's all good.
So I bring all that up because the more that
we get these details about Christian McCaffrey's injury, the more
I look at it and go, yes, something tells me
this is not gonna end well. You know, just feels weird.

(07:37):
It's got a little bit of a Russell Wilson feel
to it. Like you remember when Russell Wilson had that little
issue with this calf. You remember, like it was like
way back, like right before training camp. They were doing
like conditioning drills. He was pushing like a tackling sled
or something like that. Like, ah, you know, he popped
up with a little bit of a calf issue. It's
just a day to day thing. But we're gonna rest
him the first day of training camp and everything's gonna

(07:57):
be fun. Say, oh, okay, no big deal, listen, better
safe than sorry. Big year for us. He's an older quarterback.
We want to make sure he's one hundred percent all
good here, nothing to worry about. That was two months ago.
I don't know about you. I haven't seen a lot
of him out there, you know, Like it just I
don't know by And the more that Mike Tom was

(08:18):
asked about it, the more I got a little bit awkward,
a little bit awkward and a little bit more strange
and a little bit more curious. And the more the
Niners talk about Christian McCaffrey's injury, the more awkward and
the more strange, and the more curious should become. Like
it went from yeah, he's got a little bit of
an issue, but you know, we're going to rest him
during training camp. We're going to take it easy. The

(08:38):
workload is incredible for this guy. It's important to have
him back. It's like, okay, cool, he playing Monday night
when you guys are playing the Jets, Like, yeah, listen, Christian.
You know he's got this cat, but we're going to
work through it. It's like, okay. A couple hours before
the game, Fantasy owners start throwing things realizing oh god,
he's not playing, And I was like, oh, but listen,

(09:00):
you just want to play it safe. With this guy.
Don't worry about it. Everything's gonna be fine. We're just
playing it cool. Huh why is he a ir well,
just you know, like he's gonna miss four weeks, you know,
just we're just doing this for you know, for the
betterment of him and his health. And I was like, okay, cool,
sweet he flew to to Germany to get this looked at.

(09:23):
Really yeah, well, you know, it's just kind of a
you know, he wants to go see some that say
huh and now it's gonna be Eric Branch talked to
somebody like a doctor, and he says that it's gonna
like maybe we're talking like a maybe like a month,
maybe closer to two months. It's like, oh, there's like
a big difference between a month and two months. I

(09:45):
don't know if anybody knows that or not. It's like
when somebody is coming over to do work at your
house or to like, you know, make a repair, and
it's like, all right, what time are you guys coming? Uh,
sometime between ten am and nine pm.

Speaker 5 (09:57):
Huh, Well that's like.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
A signific to get window. I'd like to get some
stuff done. You know, Like when do you guys think
you might knock on the door and get this done.
They just kind of you know, now we're talking like
month to two months. Now, you've got John Lynch talking
with local radio and San Francisco saying, oh, well, you know,
we just needed to settle down. The achilles and the

(10:19):
tendonitis and all that. We just you know, just wanted
it to settle down. So you know, he's talking to doctors,
he's back in the States. The more that comes out
with this whole thing, the more I look at it
and go, oh, this is gonna end really awkwardly, Like
I just get this vibe that it's either way worse

(10:40):
than we were initially told, much like the Russell Wilson stuff,
or it's gotten worse either way. The ending feels like
it's going to go sour for somebody because now we're
here in a month maybe two months, when before it
was he should be good to go on Monday night,
and then it was well, he's just miss the game
as a precaution. Don't worry, he'll be back, and then

(11:03):
it was we're just gonna put him on IR just
in case, and the next thing you know, he's flying
to Germany to get looked at like, dude, I would
have been more comfortable with the whole thing if Christian
McCaffrey would have come out and just said, yes, listen,
I listen, I'm on ir, what do you care? I
want to go see a Ramstein concert? Big deal, Like
you got a problem with that? Tough balls. I know

(11:23):
it's a season. I'm not playing right now. I want
to go see Ramstein. You know, I got like three
or four of their albums, took my new wife. Let's
go over Let's have a damn good time. You know.
Maybe get like a giant pretzel and I think they
eat those over there. I don't know whatever, Maybe there's
Octoberfest right around the corner. Wants to, you know, drink
one of those like sixty four ounce steins that like
they make you hold in your hand and whoever holds

(11:45):
it longest is like the winner. But you have to
drink it because your arm's gonna fall off, Like listen,
you know whatever, I just wanted to go see, like
I'd feel more comfortable with that then him going over
there to get this looked at in Germany, like I've
heard of second opinions, third opinions. Can I get somebody
else to weigh in on this. The dude flew to Germany,

(12:08):
like you know what I mean, not like Little Germany,
you know, one of the side streets in San Francisco
or someplace like that. By the way, I don't know
if they have one of those in San Francisco, and
if they did, there's probably tens there too, let's be honest.
But like, just the whole thing's awkward, and it's just
becoming more and more weird as the days go by.

(12:28):
And so John Lynch can talk to local radio in
San Francisco and say, well, look, I mean, you know,
just needed to get it all settled down. Dude. It's
a problem. It is a problem, and at some point
you're gonna have to face the reality that there's a
chance this guy might miss the entire year. Now, if
it turns out he only misses four games, all right,

(12:49):
and you want to come back and break my balls
over this, that's fine, But I'm telling you right now,
as it stands in real time on the twenty eighth
of September twenty twenty four, this situation stinks. Something about
it doesn't smell right. And we'll get to see how
it plays out over the next several weeks Jonas Knox here,
Fox Sports Radio. You can get us on the iHeartRadio app.

(13:12):
You can also find us on hundreds of affiliates here.
You can also find me on Twitter or x whatever
you want to call it. You're choosing not gonna. I'm
not gonna complain about it at the Jonas Knox. At
the Jonas Knox. So we are gonna have the usuals
coming up later on. We've got another edition of Do
You Care. We're also going to have another edition of
Knox Locks. And let me just say this right off
the bat, for those of you out there that are

(13:32):
already like assuming the worst when it comes to Knox Locks,
I know we're off to a bad start. I get it. Okay,
Oh no, there's there's a lot of teams in the
NFL that suck right now too. Okay, they're off to
a bad start too, So let's not judge are Why
don't you be kind? I think we've we've proven ourselves
that we can make a comeback sometime this season. So
we will have the Week four edition of Knox Locks.

(13:54):
And we need a big week because we don't want
to far fall too far behind its brutal us far,
but we will get it together. That'll be yours to
close up the show here an hour two. It's all
yours here again until four pm Eastern time, one o'clock
Pacific from the Tairaq dot com studios. But somebody is
showing you how good they are by not even playing

(14:15):
in the NFL. We'll tell you who that is next.

Speaker 5 (14:19):
Jonas is counted today.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Any way you magic Christian McCaffrey like walks into his
doctor's office in Germany to try and get his leg
figured out, and they're playing due host. That'd be sweet.
I mean, why not guys going over to Germany to
get guys coming over to Germany to get his leg

(14:55):
looked at. It's like, I was like, oh, listen, we
just you know, we want to want to make sure
everything's all good here. It's like no, like something's wrong,
like there's an issue. Look, none of it adds up.
Let's go live to our I have a thought on
Ramstein insider Christopher for the latest crewer.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
I think when he goes into that doctor's office and
he sees the doctor is also wearing corpse paint, sweet.

Speaker 5 (15:16):
He's like, yeah, yeah, I've made the right decision.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
I mean, if anybody's seen video of Ramstein concerts, you know,
it's probably better than some of the other things they'll
wear from time to time. You know, there's you know,
a little a little weird. You know, the guys are
guys are a little bit odd, as would would be
indicated by some of the lyrics if you translate those
over to English. But nonetheless, we hope the best for
Christian McCaffrey. I'm just telling you something doesn't smell right.

(15:40):
The whole thing's awkward, and we're going to figure it
out as the time progresses here over the course of
the NFL season. Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio,
by the way, coming up here, and we'll call it
a little over ten minutes from now from the tiraq
dot com studios. I was under the impression that we
were all clear that everything was square when it came

(16:01):
to how something was done in the world of football.
Last night proved otherwise. It just proved otherwise. We'll get
to that here a little over ten minutes from now.
The best way to show your value is to be
next to, or be after, or be before something that

(16:27):
is less than you. Okay, for example, do you want
to make her miss you, then you've got a hope
that she dates a loser right after you. And it's
not nice to root for anybody to fail. It's not
a nice thing. But let's be honest here. When you

(16:51):
find out she's moved on and then you find out
the guy's a complete dead end, doesn't it make you
feel a little bit better for you, Like you find
out like, oh, you know, you know he's moved on.
Now he's with somebody. You know, you see a picture
of her and she's a slob, Like it just does,
like it doesn't it make you feel better? Like it doesn't.

(17:13):
And there's nothing wrong with that human nature, nothing nothing
wrong with that at all, human nature. You know. There's
also like that fear of missing out fomo where like
you know, if people go out one night you can't
make it, you kind of hope it sucks for everybody,
you know, like, oh, you guys are going to that
big rager. Huh boy, sure would suck if you got

(17:34):
a bunch of rain and maybe a one or two
lightning strikes nearby, you know, within like nothing too close,
just within like five six feet ruin everything. Like it's
human nature. Nothing wrong with that. Okay, there's nothing wrong
with that, because what it does is it shows people
your true value. And sometimes you need crap in order

(17:58):
to showcase your credibility. And I'm looking at the Dolphins
quarterback situation right now, and I'm going hmmm. For anybody
that questioned whether or not Tua tagobay Looa was a
good quarterback, you were getting exhibit A, B and C

(18:18):
as to why he deserved the contract he got, why
they gave him the contract that he's got, and why
everybody there in the building seemed to appreciate him a
lot more than a lot of people on the outside did.
Because the latest is they're going to start Tyler Huntley.
So Tyler Huntley is going to be the quarterback now,

(18:40):
whether it was Tim Boyle or Skyler Thompson. And it's
not a knock on those guys, Like I mean, you're
expected to come in when you haven't had a lot
of first team reps and take over the job. And
for the record, Skyler Thompson has played good football before.
Like people forget that when Tua was out their first
playoff run under Mike McDaniel, they went to Buffalo with

(19:00):
Skyler Thompson as their quarterback and they were in that game.
You're probably asking yourself, well, how do you remember that? Well?
Truely easy. When you've got Buffalo minus the points and
they don't cover, you kind of remember those things, you
know what I mean, it's weird. Now that works, It's
gonna just got it. Weird. Wife was wondering, you know,

(19:20):
why'd you short me on the birthday gift this year?
I mean, blame Skyler Thompson. I didn't know he was
gonna light up that crummy Bills defense. I didn't know.
My apologies, but the point is this isn't a shot
at They're being put in a tough spot, but all
the people and it's why. Look, I was on this
from the jump. Tuoa is gonna get paid and he

(19:43):
deserves to get paid. And if you can't recognize or understand,
and you've got Brian Flores brain to where you just
assume the worst of the guy, then you're never gonna
see the other side of it until you have to,
and now you have to and the Dolphins are in
in a really tough spot because he's on IR And

(20:04):
for anybody, what about the game he was playing it
he threw a couple of picks. Okay, cool, who's having
a bad game? Like, he's been a very good quarterback
in the NFL for a while. Now, he's put up numbers,
he's won a bunch of games. I get the playoff
success and all the other things. Like you want to

(20:25):
point at him and say, well, you know, but you
can't win a super Bowl with him. It's like, okay,
Like all right, that's like saying you can't win a
super Bowl with Dan Marino because you didn't. It's like stop, Like,
we don't know what those answers are. We're not sure.
He hasn't gotten the opportunity yet. If he gets to
a super Bowl and they win it, good for him.
There's probably a lot of people out there that are like, yeah,

(20:46):
but you can't win a super Bowl with Nick Foles.
Well they did. So the discussion around Tua pops up
again because now Miami Dolphins fans, people on the outside
or having to see what this team looks like without
him and The latest reporting I think it was Tom

(21:08):
Pellisero who said this recently, is that two has been
cleared for normal activities, just not football. So who the
hell knows if that's good news. I'm assuming that's that's
he's making progress. But he's going to come back and
he's going to play if given the opportunity to play,

(21:29):
and we can watch it and cringe and say, God,
I hope he doesn't get hit, and we can sit
there and go, well, you know, I really hope that,
you know, he learns how to slide. I've got a
very clear expectation for Tua. I think he's going to
come back and play. I think he should be allowed
to play. There shouldn't be a bunch of people telling
him what he needs to do with his life or whatever. Stop. Okay, stop,

(21:52):
let's not tell everybody what they need to do. COVID's over,
Let's move on. He's going to come back, he's going
to play, and my expectation is he's probably gonna have
the issue pop up again and then we'll have the
discussion again. How do I know that, I'm just following trends,

(22:13):
Like he has suffered from the concussions before, we've seen
a play out too many times. My expectation would be
I would find it hard to believe that the guy's
going to play another nine ten years in the NFL
and not have another one. I just find that hard
to believe. It's a full contact sport like this stuff
is going to happen. But he's going to come back
and play if and when given the opportunity to play,

(22:36):
and he should be allowed to. And you know who
really wants him to play, not just Tua. You know
who really wants him to play, the Dolphins. And do
you want to know why? Because now they're having to
see what it's like without him. And again, not a
shot at Tyler Huntley, not a shot at Skyler Thompson
or Tim Boyle or Cleo Lemon or Jay Fiedler or

(22:58):
Sage Rosenfels or anybody else that played quarterback, Scott Mitchell,
anybody else that played quarterback for the Dolphins over the
past two hundred years. You are seeing Tua's value because,
much like you, they just needed to live without him
for a little while and see something completely opposite. Now
they're looking around going, oh god, yes, we were correct.

(23:22):
He deserved to get paid he's the guy we give
all that money to for a reason, and now everybody
on the outside is just getting clued into the fact that, yeah,
he's pretty good. Exhibit AB and C is what they're
like with Adham Jonas Knox. Here. Fox Sports Radio, by

to say this, these rapid radios are really effective, Like

(24:06):
they came in super handy to us here at Fox
Sports Radio, specifically to the morning show Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe LeVar and I were doing the
show live from State College here on Friday. So we
were doing Football Friday live from State College at the
Graduate Hotel. We couldn't find Lee, our producer, anywhere, couldn't
find him. And there's three places if you want to

(24:29):
find Lee that you look for the trash, the bar,
or the stall. It's those three and so LeVar sent
me out to find them. Looked in the trash, wasn't there,
went to the bar, wasn't there? What was option three?

(24:49):
The stall, And that's where we found him. And if
you think that we are embellishing that we are not,
go to Fox Sports Radio, go on the Instagram, go
on x and they showcased our inability to find Lee.
But you want to know how we were able to
identify where he was and communicate with each other to
let everybody know he's safe. He's just taking care of

(25:10):
business in there through a Rapid Radios so even in
that situation, they come in handy. So can't recommend him enough.
And again, thank you to our friends at Rapid Radios
for making that happen. Jonas Knox here Fox Sports Radio
coming up next here. Apparently things are just different. Like
I was under the expectation and the understanding that we
knew how this worked in the world of football, Apparently

(25:33):
I was wrong based on what happened last night. We'll
get into that for you here on FSR. But for
all the latest from around the world of sports makes
some noise for a man.

Speaker 5 (25:41):
Oh jeez, who's got oh.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
Jeez insults for days, depending on the mood that he's in. Wow,
the one, the only, the magnificent. Oh geez, Brian.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
Fenley Jonas, you forgot to mention part of that story
with Lee, because when you saw him there, you told
told me this, You texted me this, that he was
army crawling underneath one of the walls in the bathroom stall,
you know where there's a little bit of room between
the wall and the ground, and so you saw him
sort of army crawling out, like there's a door handle
you can walk out.

Speaker 5 (26:12):
No, he wants to army crawl out.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
That's correct. Yeah, yeah, Well listen, I mean, if you're
gonna do that, why not do it on a bathroom floor.
And I'll say this, if you were going to do
that on a bathroom floor, there's no cleaner bathroom floor
than at the Graduate. I'll tell you that right now.

Speaker 6 (26:25):
Well, I don't know the Fox Sports Radio bathroom. I'll
tell you once once the Lee's out of there.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Versus plugs for it. Let me just tell you something
I cannot say the same about the Fox Sports Radio bathroom.
And I don't know, somebody's got to be and it's
not Lee, all right. I'm not gonna let Lee have
to wear this, but somebody needs to work on their
aim in the men's restroom. I'll just put it that way, Okay.
I need an I don't know if it's betting, I'm not.

(26:52):
I'm not naming names and I'm not pointing fingers. I
need marker. I needed a kayak to get out of
there one day, like it is, like there's a there's
a real problem, okay, And I know it's not me,
all right, because and again I'm not going to name
names here. I refuse to name names. That's the last
thing I'm gonna do here. I'm not going to call
anybody out for, you know, their inability to aim when

(27:16):
it comes to using the bathroom. I personal wouldn't do that,
Patrick Sweaka, I listened. I would not do that. That's
not what I'm going to do here. I refuse to
do that. I'm not going to go on the air
and call out anybody for not being able to like.
That's not what I'm going to do. So I will
not do that to Patrick creaking.

Speaker 5 (27:30):
Wait a minute, I'll Patrick you there.

Speaker 2 (27:32):
Sorry, bye, No it is it is not Patrick, it is.
I don't know who it is. I'll be honest with you,
but it's very, very large.

Speaker 6 (27:41):
Well, the other problem is Jonas, you know, we're here
located in southern California, and we know there's a water
shortage here. We're not supposed to water our plants at
certain times of the year, so I understand that you
want to be very judicious on when you flush. But
for the courtesy of the co workers, that's another issue
that guys go in and out of there and they
just I'm just gonna leave it there as if they're

(28:01):
showing off and like I don't need that.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
I would love you to flush.

Speaker 2 (28:05):
Yeah, I mean, listen, we're working on that. By the way,
Can I also say something about the California water shortage?

Speaker 5 (28:10):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (28:11):
What a bunch of crack, like, because we don't live
right next to an ocean like which wease stop this
like literally the earth what seventy five percent water like,
we're literally on the water and people are talking about
water shortage and then I get a noticing don't water
your plants between this time, but this time if you're
going to get in big trouble. Kiss my ass. I

(28:33):
will water my plants, and if you've got a problem
with that, go to the Pacific Ocean. Take a dump
truck out there, and go replace the water that I
used on my plants that are coming in nicely. Thank
you very much.

Speaker 6 (28:45):
Although I don't know how much it's going to quench
your thirst if you do indulge in drinking the salty
water in the ocean, Jonas, you might want to tell
people not to just drink the salt water the ocean water,
but maybe go through the desalinization plant.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
That might Yeah, fine, figure it out. I mean, whatever
you gotta do, figure it out. But I'm just tired
of everyone telling me, like you know that there's a
water short just because God forbid, I watered my hypiscus, Like, oh,
that's what it is, okay, losers.

Speaker 6 (29:15):
Well, as a guy like yourself who works out a lot,
you do take a lot of salt tabs, so you
understand that that's different than including salt in the water.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
You take that separately.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
I mean, that's fine, listen, And if we keep it
up and I don't like my performance, I use PDS
and I'll admit it on the air. I don't care. Yeah,
I gotta be judged here. I'm not going to be
judged by you family.

Speaker 6 (29:32):
No, no, no, no, this is a non judgment zone.
But I'll tell you what we are judging. We're judging
the performance right now of Old Miss As we look
at college football, the number six ranked team in the country.
They have a lead seventeen to thirteen against Kentucky. But
the Wildcats led at the half ten to seven, and
they held the ReBs to just twelve yards in the
second quarter. They're about to start the fourth quarter. Finishing

(29:52):
up the third quarter. Here ReBs in front, seventeen to thirteen.
Number twelve. Michigan is taking it to Minnesota twenty one
to three. They're in the third court. Make a twenty
four to three now in the third quarter. They just
wrapped up the third quarter. By the way, Michigan just
threw a pick. You can watch this game on Fox television.
Number twenty three Kansas State owning a twenty eight to

(30:12):
thirteen edge or number twenty Oklahoma State. They are late
stages of the third quarter, and He's sixty six yard
run for a score for the Wildcats has them in
front by two scores number twenty two BYU on the
board with three points thirty four to twenty one late
in the third against Baylor, who has the football, a

(30:33):
game that you can peer and watch on FS one
Indiana twenty eight to twenty one there in front of
Maryland in a battle of Big ten teams, while Nebraska
has the football with a seven to three lead against
per Due.

Speaker 5 (30:47):
Right, yeah, they would score.

Speaker 6 (30:49):
Less, Jonas in the first half. There's about eleven forty
two to go in the fourth quarter. There were combined
four missfield goals in the first half, and there were
multiple punts three punts just from the Boilermaker's.

Speaker 5 (31:01):
Side in the first half.

Speaker 6 (31:02):
So that's a good game there, and I'll throw this
one at you. Lastly, Jonas cam Rising viewed as a
game time decision going into the Arizona.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
It's just like it the whole, Like Petros, the Great Petros,
Papa Day has stocked about this before, Like Kyle Whittingham's
handling of injuries, and like what he wants to tell
people and which player is available, specifically a quarterback is like,
I don't know how anybody gambles on Utah and feels
good about it like if you put it that in
early in the week, and that's what I care about.

(31:36):
The Gambler, sorry to interrupted.

Speaker 6 (31:37):
Well, the Big Ten obviously Utah is not a Big Ten,
but the Big Ten rechoirs coaches. I think it's about
three hours or so before kickoff time to disclose everything
injury related.

Speaker 5 (31:48):
But like in the UCLA perspective, they're not telling.

Speaker 6 (31:51):
You how guys are doing unless there's season ending injuries
during the week because they're not required to, so it
would be smart.

Speaker 5 (31:57):
Jonas.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
The reason why getting to get back to you here, now,
the reason why Jonas Jonas, Knox locks is so bad
is because you're making bets before you know who's actually playing,
and from somebody who is always hitting it big when
he bets, which is never I would suggest that maybe
you start inserting those bets right before kickoff time.

Speaker 5 (32:19):
And you know a little bit more.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
I mean, listen, fenty, that's nice and all, but Knox
locks happens a day before the games happen, So there's
nothing I can do. But I do appreciate the fact
that you did point out that my degree of difficulty
when it comes to handicapping those games should be taken
into account. That's what I mean. If you're willing to
wipe away whatever's happened in the season thus far and
we start from scratch, I mean, you know, I'll give
you the authority to do that depending on how we

(32:41):
do over the next couple of weeks.

Speaker 6 (32:42):
And that's why you should lastly, for me, Jonas, that's
why you should throw it a disclaimer when you give
the Knox Locks say yet subject to change because I
don't have the Sunday show, which is when they actually
reveal the injuries.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
Yeah, no, and I listen, if I finished a losing record,
I'll do that. Yeah, it's a good fallback plan.

Speaker 5 (33:00):
Be the first time for sure.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Thanks family, I appreciate it. There he is the great.
Brian Finley's gonna be with us here throughout the course
of the show. Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio.
By the way, if you want some upbeat, positive conversation,
don't worry, We've got it for you. It's another edition
of Do You Care? That'll be yours here in less
than ten minutes from now. I did want to point
this out though I was under the impression that if
it was like a really close call on the field,

(33:22):
in the world of football, like if it was a
really close call, but the call on the on the
field was made, then it was really hard to decide
after looking at the play in review that you could overturn.
I just assumed that it would, like you know, there
wasn't enough to overturn the call in the field. That
was my understanding, Like that was the impression I got.
I mean, I thought we were all clear on that, like, hey, listen,

(33:45):
it's a tight call, but the call on the field
was made. There's not enough evidence to overturn it, and
we just stick with the call in the field. That's
what I thought. And then Virginia Tech Miami happened, So
apparently apparently we just we don't do that anymore. That's
that's that's not a thing. And you know, like Lee
to Lap and I were watching the game in a

(34:07):
place in state College and there was like even people
who saw the play happen, saw it called to touchdown,
waded through the review. We actually waited to leave the
place so that we could see how they reviewed it,
and they came back and overturned the call, and the
people in there were shocked, like wait, what like and

(34:29):
look if they would have called it incomplete and then
stuck with the call. That's fine, Like it was way
too close. I just assumed and I almost left and
we almost walked out the door because we thought, Okay, well,
look they're just gonna go with whatever the call was
on the field, there's no clear evidence to overturn the call.
And instead, Nope, no, no, they're just gonna they're just

(34:52):
gonna go ahead and overturn it, and they're gonna everybody
there's gonna celebrate. So feel bad for Virginia Tech. Okay,
not saying they got the call right or wrong. I
just think they should have stuck with the call in
the field. And why do I think that. It's because
I've been told that for X amount of years when
it comes to football reviews. That's what I've been told.
But apparently things changed last night. Jonas Knox here on
Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox on X at

(35:13):
the Jonas Knox on X. Coming up next here though
from the Ti rack dot Com studios. It's Do You
Care and It's yours here on FSR.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Live Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio coming up top of
next hour a little over ten minutes from now from
the tire rack dot com studios. You know, sometimes you
need to be reminded when you are not at a
certain level that somebody else is and that has happened
in the world of football. That has definitely happened in
the world of football, and as a matter of fact,

(35:52):
it is happening right now as you listen to this show,
so we will get into that for you again. Coming
up here a little over ten minutes from now. A
reminder that shortly after this show, the podcast will be
going up, so if you've missed any of it, be
sure to check out the pod. Search Fox Sports Radio
where we get your podcast. Be sure to also follow,
rate and review the pod. Again, just search Fox Sports
Radio where we get your podcast. You will see this

(36:13):
show post it right after we get off the air.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
There are so many stories in the world of sports,
and most of them are a complete waste of time
DMG reports. Let's get kinky. Here's some of the big
stories from the last week. But Jonas, the real question
is do you care?

Speaker 2 (36:31):
And for that we turn it over to our executive
producer Patrick Sweek and to find out what the hell
people have been talking about all week.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
Pat Well, Jonas, stop me here. This might sound like
a broken record, but we got more Jamar Chase things,
and funny enough, now this week he's putting his drama
apparently behind him because he's quote unquote having fun despite
you know, being zero and three. Jonas, do you care?

Speaker 2 (36:54):
Not? Really? I gotta be with you. And part of
that is because I'm a little pissed at the Bengal
And look, I picked him to go to the super Bowl.
That's fine, you know, but I just I could understand
them starting zero and two, I get it. I did
not understand what the hell that was against Washington. That
was a bit alarming. And so here we are sitting

(37:15):
at three. It is it is not looked pretty for
the Cincinnati Bengals. Now you got Joe Burrow talking about
I need to be a more vocal leader, etc. Etc.
Whatever the hell's happening there, it's all very very alarming,
especially if you have the Bengals pick. So Jamar and
Chase could be as happy as he wants. I'm not
happy because they're making the me look like an idiot,
even more so than I already do.

Speaker 4 (37:35):
Next, all right, jonas Well. Vikings running back Aaron Jones
is facing his former team, the Packers, tomorrow. Do you
care that he says he's going to Lambeau leap if
he scores a touchdown.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Yes, it's great because I'm telling you, man, love and
people can be like, no, no, no, Wisconsin fans aren't
like that, and no, listen, they loved Aaron Jones and
all that. Let me tell you something, if you're an
opposing player and you jump into the stands at Lambeau Fee,
you were going to wear a twenty four ounce old
Milwaukee right in your face, it's gonna happen. So if

(38:07):
he likes smelling like beer, if he wants to smell
like beer the rest of the game, score your touchdown,
jump in the stands and prove me right.

Speaker 4 (38:16):
Next, all right, jonas Well, Do you care that Louisiana
lawmakers actually want to bring back a live tiger mascot
to the LSU Tiger sidelines.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
Well, yeah, of course, like I love it? Who and also, look,
I don't want to actually be at the game because
this is gonna go horribly wrong. Like is anybody learned
their lesson from Seagfreed and Roy? Like serious, like anybody
learned their lesson? Like like nobody was better and more
equipped to handle wild animals than those two guys. And
one of them walked around the rest of his life

(38:47):
without a neck like that. This is a horrible idea,
you know, for anybody that's there in attendance. I just
want to see how the whole thing plays out, personally, Like,
I want to see how the whole thing plays out.
So if we're gonna do this, then let's do it.
And I've said this before. If LSU's playing Alabama, fair
is fair, then Alabama needs to roll out an elephant,
all right. If that's what their mascot is and they've

(39:09):
got like a you know, an elephant running around the
sidelines doing backflips and all that, they need to run
one of those out there, and that way we can
even the score here and even the odds for both teams.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
Next, all right, Jonas, well, stop the press. We have
a showstopper here because Disney's The Incredibles is now making
it onto hot game Fortnite.

Speaker 5 (39:29):
Do you care? Jonas no, I don't care.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
I'm so sick of this. Man. I hate this, Like
I don't know, like what did I like, what did
I do to Disneyland and Disney and all this stuff
that I just need to constantly be reminded and have
it shoved in my face, like what like my kid
doesn't even like Disneyland, Like I mean, like, but like
everywhere you turn, like I go on social media earlier

(39:55):
and Eddie Garcia and his wife and I love Karen
and I love Eddie. They're at Disneyland, Lee to Lapp
and Lorena who work with us on Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe. They went to Disneyland last week.
I mean, although I'll say this, if you're gonna go
to Disneyland with anybody, go with Lee and Lorena because
apparently they got butchered before they walked into the park.

(40:16):
And that's probably the only way I can enjoy this.
But whether this is The Incredibles, Fortnite, the Teacups can
please stop. It's football season. Let's focus on what the
task is at hand here. You know, sometimes you just
need a friendly reminder just to tell you, hey, listen,

(40:36):
you grew up a little bit different that is currently
taking place right now in the world of football, and
right now on this show, and we'll explain why that
is coming up here in just a couple of moments.
From now Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio. You can listen
to us here on the iHeartRadio app. You can find
us on hundreds of affiliates all across the country. No
matter where you are, making us a part of your

(40:58):
Saturday afternoon, we preciate it. We're going to take you
all the way up until the end of this hour
four pm Eastern time, one o'clock Pacific, and per usual,
we do it all live from the tire rack dot
Com studios tire rack dot com. We'll help you get
there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road as
a protection at over ten thousand recommended installers tire rac
dot com the way tire buying should be. So if

(41:20):
the show sounds a little bit different, all right, we are,
you know, just to get a radio techie on you.
We are actually broadcasting from State College, so I'm on
a headset, so it might sound a little bit different.
You know, normally it's a a studios stand up mic
or you know, hanging mic that that sounds a little bit,
which is my preference. But we're here and we're using
the headset and you're probably thinking like, Okay, well, what's

(41:42):
what the headset? Why does this sound so different? Well,
because we're doing this show here live of course from
the tire rack dot Com studios, but also in State
College in Pennsylvania, and we were out for two pros
and a cup of Joe. We did the Friday show
yesterday and we did it from the Graduate Hotel in
State College. And you know, our friends at graduate hotels.

(42:04):
Cannot recommend them enough. They are everybody at every single
graduate of we've ever done a show at, whether it
be Columbia South Carolina, Columbus Ohio, whether it be State College.
All the staff there, everybody there is awesome to deal with.
The hotels just tremendous. The setup, the design, the food,
everything's awesome. So if you can get out to graduate hotels,

(42:24):
cannot recommend them enough. Well, today we're doing the show
from the football building here at Penn State. And when
you walk around the building, like we're not talking like
you know one of these, like you know, run of
the mill universities, it's got to know like this is
like a legitimate one of the all time great football programs.

(42:44):
And so when you walk around the building, you see
all the trophies, all the awards, you see Capelletts, Heisman Trophy,
you see the national championship stuff you see, and you
just realize as you see the act this field and
you see just the facility, the weight room, the drive up,

(43:04):
you just realize, at least I did that my experience
walking in and out of football buildings when I played
a little bit different, just a little bit different, like
they kind of have everything figured out here. It is
so nice that you almost don't know what to do

(43:25):
or how to act. It's like the first time you
go over to somebody's house who's rich, Like I grew
up Listen, I like, my family did not have money.
I grew up poor basically, and so I just assumed
that that's how everything was. And then the first time
you go over to a buddy's house and it's like,
you guys, get a pool? What do you mean you

(43:48):
have stairs in your house? Are you like upstairs you
have two showers? Really? Like hold on, hold on a second,
so like you don't have duct tape holding one of
the doors together. In the bedroom. Really, I mean, what

(44:14):
do you mean you've never slept on the floor. Huh oh,
so you can what you guys eat cereal out of
a like out of a box. You don't get like
the bagged cereal, Like what wow? What it is so
magnificent here the setup, the just the building, the like

(44:37):
the trophy case, like every like there it is spotless
everywhere you turn, everywhere you turn. Like you look at
the practice field, it's like the play it's like you
could play a super Bowl on it. And I'm looking
around going, man, listen, I look. I played high school football,
all right, and listen, things have changed there and it's

(44:58):
it's a much nicer face and they've got it all figured.
But I played at Thousand Oaks High School. And let
me just you know, spoiler alert. I know it's high
school to college, but point is, this is my experience, right.
So when I played high school football, we were it
was Thousand Oaks High. We just weren't good, all right.
And I'm not gonna be held accountable for it because
I hardly played. So all those losses is not on me.

(45:19):
That's on them. And I'm still best friends, Like those
are all my best friends or the guys I played
high school football with. I tell them all the time. Man,
you guys really sucked in that playoff game. You were
on the team too. Yeah, I didn't play, though, not
my loss that years. You gotta wear it, sorry, buddy. Like,
had you guys want, I would have claimed it. You
lost not much tissing hands off. I don't know what
to tell you. But like we played in a program

(45:44):
in which and I'm not even making this up, you
didn't have the same numbers sometimes at home and on
the road because they didn't have enough matching numbers for
road and home jerseys. So like one game at home,
I was number eight eighty five, and then we played
on the road the next week and I was number thirty.
And I'm not making that up, like it's just like

(46:08):
the court. But I just assumed, oh, like that's like
what a lot of like football. And again, I know
there's a difference between high school and college, but it's
not until you get to somewhere that's really nice that
you can even comprehend how amazing it is when done correctly,

(46:28):
Like you can't even It's like the first time you
go over to a buddy is somebody's house. It's rich,
Like you can't even like it's it's they're they're talking
in a language and the like they I remember walk
going over to a buddy's house and like, all right,
take your shoes when you come off inside. I'm like,
well take my shoes off. Why so you don't get
the carpet dirty or you don't get the floor dirty.
It's like, oh, we just lived in perpetual dirt like

(46:52):
I don't have. It's like, I mean, you know, like
a you know, screen door with a hole in it,
flies keep coming in like it just like we just
you come to a place like this, and it is
a separation from a world that I thought I kind
of understood, but like to actually be in the building

(47:13):
and you listen, it's going to nice stadiums and all
that stuff, but to be in the building and to
walk around, cannot even describe how awesome it is. And
just the accommodations. Everybody here could not be nicer. So
nothing but good things. And again I'm telling you if
you can get out to a big time college football game,
cannot recommend it enough. It's awesome here in State college.

(47:35):
And there's a bunch of other places you can head
to make sure you do it right. Literally once in
a lifetime stuff when you have the opportunity to do it.
Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas
Knocks at the Jonas Knox, So I did look. One
of the things that I that I feel more and
more confident about as the NFL season progresses is I
feel more confident about the fact that the forty nine

(47:58):
ers are not going back to the super Bowl, Like, like,
I feel real confident about it now. I would go
as far as far as to say I don't think
they're going to go to the playoffs except in that division.
Like I don't know if Seattle's for real, Like Seattle's
you know gotten you know, some fortunate breaks, you know,
schedule wise, quarterbacks they've played, like, you know, they think

(48:19):
things have bounced. It's kind of like the Steelers, you know,
like if you just look at the schedule thus far,
you go, oh, well, pittsfordh and this guy and this
guy and this guy and Herbert was injured. Like do
you look at Seattle like, oh, okay, see you know
Skyler Thompson, Like it's so, I don't know what Seattle is,
and I'm high on Arizona just because I'm optimistic because
I think Kyler Murray is back to one hundred percent

(48:42):
and I think they're fun to watch and they're going
to grow and get better and better and better. But like, dude,
the Rams are banged up, like they've got all sorts
of issues, like they're an underdog at Chicago for some reason.
I have literally no idea why the Bears are fair.
I mean, the Bears shouldn't even be favored over the

(49:02):
Colorado State Rams, let alone the LA Like I don't,
I don't get it, but you know, trying to you know,
give away any any spoilers for Knox locks. But like
my point is, like I would go as so far
as to say I don't think the Niners are going
to make the playoffs, except I don't know what the
hell that division is. The Rams are worse than I thought,
the Cardinals are kind of where I thought they were,
but still I don't know if they're a competitor. And

(49:23):
Seattle's way better at this point record wise than I
thought they'd be. But it is clear that this whole
Super Bowl hangover that I've talked about before is a
real thing, and whether it's Christian McCaffrey having to fly
to uh october Fest to get his leg looked at.
Now you got Brandon Ayuk and you're like, what do

(49:44):
you mean? They got a new deal done? Everything's fine there, okay.
And then there's video of him at practice and he's
throwing a tantrum because Kyle Shanahan made him change his shorts.
Like I don't even making that up. That's a real thing,
like literally like throwing a tantrum and like wanted to
like kick his shorts away. You can tell him the video.
And I never try and do interrogation room where I

(50:06):
try and lip read and think I know what somebody's
talking about or the tone of the conversation because you
just don't, like you have no so I try. I
try not to play that game. But it is pretty
obvious that Kyle Shannan's pissed off in the video, Like
it's obvious, and he's got to keep going back and
back and back to Brandon Ayuk and tell him change

(50:27):
your shorts. They have a disagreement, like they're going and
so Brandon Ayuk then takes his red shorts off and
tries to kick him and then puts his black and
it's like, OK, okay, so you've got that, You've got
the McCaffrey injury. You've got George Kittle's been banged up,
Nick Bose has been banged up, Trent Williams has been
banged like. It's got like injuries, drama, weird circumstances with

(50:54):
Christian mccaffe like just the whole thing. Like it doesn't
feel right in San Francisco with an eye. It just doesn't.
And so while I listen, I admit that if things
have gone this way in the NFL this year, that
I did not expect him to. The one thing I'm
more and more confident about is the Niners ain't going
back to the super Bowl. Like it is not to.

(51:15):
And this is not a brock Party knock because I
actually hope Rock Purty continues to play well because I
just want to be in I want to be here
doing this show when Brock Party signs his sixty million
dollar contract. That's what I want. I want to be
doing radio when Brock Party is getting sixty million dollars
a year, just to see people push back against that,

(51:35):
like they push back against two A getting his deal
that's what I want, like, I want to live in
that world. And so when you see where things are
headed with San Francisco, that's the only thing I'm optimistic about.
I think brock Party is going to play well. I
think he's going to keep minute, but ultimately I think
they're going to fall short because things do not seem right.
They don't look right. And if you're a Niners fan,

(51:57):
you know what I'm saying is true. They don't feel right.
There's something about this team that is off and a
far cry from the team that probably should have won
a Super Bowl last year. Jonas Knox here on Fox
Sports Radio at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox
on X that you can hang out with us as
always on the iHeartRadio app. We have some tweets. By

(52:17):
the way, we're gonna get to a lot of positive
feedback here on the show. I know you guys love
that stuff. But coming up next here we are going
to tell you about somebody in the NFL who has
made this statement, has the history and is proving one
fact when it comes to quarterbacks in the league. You
will hear from him next year on FSR. We don't

(52:41):
need to bring Jonas in Jonas Knox Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up shortly, you are going to hear one coach
in the NFL breakdown the real issue with quarterback play,
and he's one hundred percent spot on. We'll get into
that for you again. Coming up here, just a couple

(53:02):
of moments now here from the tire rack dot com studios.
A lot of positive feedback, by the way, coming in
on the show as we are broadcasting here live from
State College. They got a big one later on tonight,
we got Illinois, we got Penn State, Georgia, Alabama coming
up later on Fun Day of college football, and so
we're broadcasting here live from State College, and you know,

(53:25):
there's obviously, you know, some great feedback here. We've been
talking a little bit about the Christian McCaffrey and Brandon
Ayuk situation in San Francisco. Joe writes in the tents
are not the problem in San Francisco, you stupid bleep.
The problem in San Francisco is not stepping on the

(53:45):
human bleep by the tents. Bleep, You bleep San Francisco
and bleep the forty nine ers. David writes in deal
is Joni is like a teenage bleep celebrating your bleep
Dodgers clinching with your boyfriend, Showtime, show Hay and little

(54:11):
decoy dog. You can bleep your bleep too constantly as
they choke and lose with your goat you bleep. Paul
writes in we need one of these bleep bleep breathing
bleeps to beat the living bleep out of this bleep
bleep muncher into a cadaver they can fire up outside

(54:37):
your trailer park for a feast. Tony writes in, Bleep, Joni,
put on your Carly Clark jersey and bleep about her
not getting calls and outrage that they were eliminated like
the soy boy bleep you have always been. Aaron writes in,

(54:59):
Hey Joeonas, I don't think you are allowed to give
advice for restaurant etiquette since your wife cuts your balls
off a long time ago and she makes you sit
down to bleep. Thanks, no, thank you, No, it's like
I insist thank you at the Jonas Knocks. At the

(55:22):
Jonas Knox on X is where you can find uh
whatever you know, positive feedback. We were able to read here
on the air. By the way, the Judas rites it.
That's a fun night. It's a fun by the way.
You know what's nice about X that people can make
accounts called the Judas Knocks. Good morning, Your above five
hundred record is going down faster than most people in

(55:50):
Chatsworth Park. Go back to romanticizing about the Bears from
the eighties and leave football to the pros. You bleep again.
That is at the Jonas Knox on X is where
you can find all of those really, really kind people
taken in the show here on a Saturday. All right,

(56:12):
So let's talk about somebody else though, all right, somebody
who does look at things in a clear way, the
way that they've always should have been looked at, the
way that probably things should have been done for years
and years, but it only feels like they're starting to
happen now. And there's one coach who is seeing this,

(56:33):
living it in the NFL and actually gone through it,
and is putting together a hell of a resume as
a guy who can develop and build quarterbacks up in
his system. And that's somebody is Kevin O'Connell of the
Minnesota Vikings, who was on the Rich Eisen Show recently
and talked about the organization's role in developing a QB.

Speaker 7 (56:53):
I just think as a whole, there's not enough emphasis
put on the organization's role in the development of the position.
Meaning I do believe this rich. I believe that organizations
fail young quarterbacks before young quarterbacks fail organizations. Just overall
thirty thousand foot view, I think it's important to understand

(57:13):
that every single one of these guys is on a journey,
a very difficult journey, that they need the support, They
need the teammates around them, they need the systems in
place to ultimately try to maximize who they are and
what their potential is, because you're still drafting players rich
off of potential, and then everything that happens from that
moment to when that potential becomes a reality is really

(57:35):
on the organization if you've got the right guy that
you're bringing in.

Speaker 2 (57:41):
So that was Kevin O'Connell talking about developing quarterbacks, and look,
you see what he's done when it comes to Sam Darnold.
You saw what he did last year when Kirk Cousins
went down and the Vikings were still able to stay
in contention and still able to win some games and
at least be in the conversation and you look at
it and you go so like the way that he's

(58:03):
doing it and what he's done in Minnesota with the Vikings,
and a lot of people I think probably just assume that, Okay, well,
you know, he's a guy who's a you know, from
the Sean McVay system, and he's going to be one
of these assistants who gets an opportunity. It's like no, no, no,
Like he's putting together his own resume and has taken
a real interest and pride in developing quarterbacks. And what

(58:26):
he said there is one hundred percent correct, Like this
idea that you can just draft the quarterback and put
him out there, and it's kind of like, oh, listen,
it's turnkey. Let's like, no, you have to develop a court.
And it's not just building around the quarterback. It's building
with the quarterback. Like look at the Bears, for example,

(58:49):
the Bears draft Caleb Williams, they draft Roma Dunza, they
make the move to bring in Keenan Allen. They've already
got Cole Comet there, They've got DJ Moore, they go
get DeAndre Swift. They go like they addressed all those
pieces around him except the offensive line, you know, and

(59:13):
that's a problem. And then you know they've got an
offensive coordinator and Shane Waldron who decides, you know, what
we're gonna do on fourth and inches from the goal line.
We're going to run a speed you know, jet option.
That's what we're gonna do. And of course it fails,
and it's been a disaster. And you just see some
of the play calling and all that, and that's why,

(59:33):
you know, Shane Waldron, you know, has to speak to
the media on Thursday, and they just wore him out
in Chicago, just wore him out. Why was this play here?
Why was you know, a DeAndre Carter blocking a defensive
end in that play? Like what Like so you look
at that and you go, all right, so Kevin O'Connell
gets it, he understands it. Why doesn't anybody else get it?

(59:56):
Like seriously? And then you realize, oh, that's because he
was a player, Like, I mean, he was that guy.
And yeah, you know, we're not talking about him being
a first round pick or we're gonna you know, he's
but like, no, he was drafted like he was brought
in in the NFL, like they brought him in. He

(01:00:17):
started out with the Patriots. You know, he's fourth round pick,
like maybe there was, and so he's seen what happens
when you draft a quarterback and the quarterback's got to
move around and can't find any consistency and can't find
any stability, and can't find an organization that one wants
to not only build around him, but build with him,

(01:00:40):
and good like, so he knows, and that's why he's
taken a pride in it. And so when you see
what Sam Darnold has done thus far this year and
how great he's been, it's why everybody says, look, Kevin
O'Connell's a real deal. Like that dude knows what he's
doing with quarterback play. I mean, look what again we'll
go having in Minnesota lilast year Kirk Cousins went down.

(01:01:02):
They were stiting is starting Josh Dobbs and like just
like just trying anything to stay alive in games because
of Kevin O'Connell. And you could say, well, it's easy
if you've got you know, Justin Jefferson, but come on,
like this is not just a Justin Jefferson thing. Of
course that helps, but that's a coach who gets it
and actually understands. Oh so when we draft a guy,

(01:01:26):
you like, the work isn't done. Like people just assume,
like when the Bears drafted Kayleb Williams are like, oh,
well they drafted Kayla Williams. Finally they got their franchise quarterback. Dude,
it's not like they haven't drafted quarterbacks before. I mean,
like they've tried every different way to find a quarterback.

(01:01:46):
They drafted Trubisky, they drafted justin fields, they drafted Rex Grossman,
Chris Kyle Lorton was like a fourth or fifth round pick.
They traded for Cutler, gave up a bunch of capital
to trade for Jay Cutler, and then you look at
you go, well, when was the last time they were

(01:02:06):
really successful as a team. Oh, they had a great
offensive line. Oh, wouldn't you know, Like, like, wouldn't you know,
Like it takes more to try and build and have success.
It's not just about landing a quarterback in the draft
and going all right, we're done here. And that's Kevin
O'Connell's points, Like, no, like, you like, you have to
build around these guys because if you don't, you're screwed. Like, yeah,

(01:02:29):
Caleb Williams can make all the throws, and he's already
gotten out of some bad situations that his offensive line
has put him in. And you've seen that that a
lot of quarterbacks couldn't do. And we've seen the throws
in the preseason. And look, he didn't play bad against Indianapolis.
I mean, he is so early in his career, but
what's showing out through the first couple of games is like, oh,

(01:02:52):
like what is in place there maybe isn't the most
conducive for him. And so to Kevin O'Connell's point, like, dude,
like there's more to developing quarterbacks then just draft the guy.
He's got all the talent in the world. No, it's
like an organizational thing, like you have to build around
and build with him. And so if it sounded like
look what he was getting emotional talking about Sam Donald's success,

(01:03:16):
Like he spoke as highly as anybody talking about Kirk
Cousins and what he was able to do with him,
and like, so it's like Kevin o'connorb all the people
in the NFL that would know it's him. I was drafted,
I bounced around different organizations. I couldn't find anybody who
actually gave me the keys and wanted to build around
me or build with me. So now he's trying to

(01:03:36):
do it with Sam Donald and he's one hundred percent correct.
And the fact that it took organizations in the NFL
this long to even figure out like, oh, we drafted
a guy to do this because he was doing this,
then we're gonna make him play this way. Like it's
only recent that teams in the NFL are like, oh,
we've got a mobile quarterback, let's move him some more.

(01:03:57):
Back in the day, how many careers never got off
the because they were a quarterback was drafted into the
NFL into a bad situation or a bad system that
didn't fit him, and they didn't know how to build
around him or with him. And so now not only
has Kevin O'Connell identified that because he was one of
those guys, but he's also implementing it. And that's why

(01:04:18):
you're seeing the success of Sam Darnold's head. So he's
one hundred percent spot on Jonas Knox here Fox Sports
Radio at the Jonas Knox at the Jonas Knox on
X and you can hang out with us as always
on the iHeartRadio app by the Way football fans, be
sure to tune into Fox Sports Radio every Sunday morning,
beginning at ten am Eastern times seven am Pacific for

(01:04:39):
Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Bett MGM, Briano, Jeff Schwartz,
and professional vetter Bill Krackenberger. Will have you covered three
hours before kickoff. Every Sunday morning. Listen to Countdown to Kickoff,
presented by Bet mgm right here on Fox Sports Radio
and on the iHeartRadio app. So we've got somebody who's
going to see their X. They're going to see their ex,

(01:05:00):
and it's a very interesting situation because apparently their X
had some words for them after they left. We'll tell
you who that is. It's coming up next here on FSR.
But for all the latest from around the world of sports.

Speaker 5 (01:05:11):
We hope he's never our X.

Speaker 6 (01:05:13):
Well, I thought last week you fired me for the
second out of your show. Thankfully I came back that goodness,
I was a little bit scared there.

Speaker 2 (01:05:20):
Yeah, I've you know, got it under good authority that
you know, you later realized what you said maybe was
not appropriate.

Speaker 6 (01:05:28):
Actually it was taken out of context by people that
have minds in the gutter.

Speaker 5 (01:05:33):
And I had no intention they listen.

Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
Man, Look, you know, I fought to get you back
on the show, but a lot of people were like,
look and you know, and I said, look, I mean,
if we're gonna let you know, Rob Parker take over
the air waves every single night during the week, I mean,
the least we can do is a family. See, that's
the least we could do. I make sure you're your
key card and work and everything.

Speaker 5 (01:05:51):
Thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:05:51):
Yeah, I mean, guys, yeah, the dump button has never
been used on the show. No Jonas, You're not gonna
believe what's happening in college football right now. Number six
Old Miss just had a forty eight yard field goal
missed under minute to go. They're down three against Kentucky.

(01:06:13):
Kentucky has the football twenty to seventeen in front. This
included on the prior drive for Kentucky, converting on a
fourth and seven from their own nineteen, they picked up
sixty three yards. Then they get it in the end
zone later in the drive to go up twenty to
seventeen after the quarterback fumbled the football and then one

(01:06:34):
of his zone recovered it in the end zone. Ole
Miss then has the football with about two minutes to
work with. On fourth and eleven, they complete a forty
yarder down field of their tight end, but then beyond that,
not much more they can do, and it all appears
as they are in victory formation in Oxford, Kentucky gonna
steal one Jonas. This is huge Number six Old Miss

(01:06:57):
missing a forty eight yard field goal with seconds to go,
and the home crowd is stunned in Oxford. Unbelievable there. Meanwhile, no, by.

Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
The way, you see what kind of distraught over that?

Speaker 6 (01:07:10):
Well, you know, my sister and my dad went to
Old Miss and they did. We were already planning to
book our tickets to the college football playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
Yeah, I mean, well, look, if it's a twelve team er,
you get some times, you get some again though, you know,
But I mean next time, I would recommend they go
to Kentucky. That way, you wouldn't have to be upset today,
you know. So that's the least second. I mean, I'm
just offering up some advice.

Speaker 5 (01:07:31):
This is your college football team, by the way, well.

Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
Listen, I mean it could be Hawaii, you know, I mean,
it could be southing. I'll tell you who it is today,
Penn State, what do you think about that, Ben, They
want you to do something about that.

Speaker 5 (01:07:43):
Is it going to be Penn State next week? When
you put that?

Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
Why don't you put that in your old miss pipe?
It smoke it.

Speaker 6 (01:07:50):
I want to see old Miss beat Penn State maybe
in the playoff, who knows.

Speaker 2 (01:07:53):
But yeah, it's not very nice.

Speaker 6 (01:07:54):
No, no it's not. But Penn State is. Yeah, obviously
playing later on today. That's where you are and that's
where you guys were doing your show yesterday. Hell yes,
Number twelve Michigan are looking at other college football games
going on involving top twenty five teams. With that first window,
how about Number twelve Michigan winning jonas twenty one to
twenty four against Minnesota the Golan Gophers twenty one points

(01:08:16):
they scored in the fourth quarter, nearly came back and
won this Number twenty three Kansas State forty two to
twenty over Number twenty Oklahoma State, Yeah, forty two to twenty.
There so Mike Gundy suffers a second loss of the season.
Baylors come back hopes, they fall short thirty four to twenty.
They go down at home and Waco to number twenty
two BYU and the Cougars are five to zero on

(01:08:41):
the year, and coming up here momentarily the next window
of games, we've got number sixteen Notre Dame off to
a great start. They are trailing Number fifteen leisvel seven
and nothing a minute into.

Speaker 5 (01:08:52):
The first quarter.

Speaker 6 (01:08:53):
So I'm sure if Brady's watching that game, but I
might not be happy about the start of that one.
And then number thirteen, you see, about to get underway
with Wisconsin, and that's going to be in Los Angeles.

Speaker 5 (01:09:03):
Should be an.

Speaker 6 (01:09:04):
Interesting kickoff between now to Big ten teams. And lastly,
jonas you know, we had to update everybody on the
happenings of that Purdue Nebraska game where they were scoreless and.

Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
At the over in that game, of course, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:09:20):
How about this, as I leave you with this, Nebraska
twenty one points scored in the fourth quarter and they
went at twenty eight to ten against Perdue.

Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
How about that? See, people got to stop rushing to
judgment here. It happens to it. Remember week one when
Iowa had like, you know, negative five points at halftime
or whatever it was, and then they went on it
just they exploded in the second half, Like you know,
people just people are too quick to write things off
in the world of football. We will not let that
stand here on this show. Faith. A lot of people
wanted to write you off last week after you cursed

(01:09:50):
on the air.

Speaker 5 (01:09:50):
I did not curse on the air. I did not
curs on their nice try.

Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
But by the way, we're real broadcast professional. Like somebody
who's like you were raised by Dick.

Speaker 5 (01:09:59):
Enberg, I was not raised by Dick Ember.

Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
He wasn't your babysitter.

Speaker 5 (01:10:03):
No, I thought he was.

Speaker 6 (01:10:04):
By the way, when you were explaining your childhood, that
sounded like an upper middle class type of living.

Speaker 2 (01:10:10):
Yeah, sure, sure thing.

Speaker 6 (01:10:11):
You forgot to read that tweet from somebody who called
you out on that.

Speaker 5 (01:10:14):
I know what, I didn't fit the narrative.

Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
Well, no, because it wasn't that good of an insult. Oh,
like you know, In fact, it was more of an
insult to people nowadays. I'll go, I tell you, look,
I'm just a humble guy just trying to do a
sportstock radio show. And I thought we were on good
terms today, But apparently you want to take shots here
as we as we say bit farewell here after me
having to go to management to try and get you
back on the air after you cursed on the I

(01:10:38):
did not curse.

Speaker 6 (01:10:39):
That is fake news, although that is what Ben Maller
calls me fake news friendly, but that is something that
should not be known.

Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
But yeah, by the way, can I give you credit
on something too?

Speaker 5 (01:10:47):
You're going to give me a compliment?

Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
Come on, I always give you a compliments. Stop, let
me give you credit on this. I did. Like how
after the Padres beat the Dodgers on that triple play
the other night, that the first thing that I saw
on Twitter was you tweeting Ben going, hey, I didn't
see the Padres Dodgers score. Will that guy?

Speaker 6 (01:11:08):
Oh my goodness. You know it's so funny about him
is that he disavows or devalues the Lakers championship in
the bubble, but he is all in on the Dodgers
twenty twenty championships. Correct and not to take anything away
from what the Dodgers did, but how can you say
one thing isn't correct or isn't up to up to
speed and up to snuff, and then you go to

(01:11:29):
the other side and you say, yeah, that works.

Speaker 5 (01:11:32):
I don't get it.

Speaker 2 (01:11:33):
That's correct. Yeah, I mean, well, look, I mean look,
it's just you know, you you want confirmation or you
want to feel better about how you believe about something,
so you can't. You know, we call it moving the goalpost.
You know some people do. So you're just moving the
goal post on the argument. Nothing wrong with that.

Speaker 6 (01:11:45):
Good for him, isn't that the slogan of the JKS show.

Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
That's just again, I don't know why you have to
do this. You know, you keep it up. I tell
you this right now. You keep it up, and you're
not going to be here for hour three. I'm not
messing around. Oh you're going to be here for I'm
telling you right now, like I will not show up
for hour three if you continue this here on the show.
All right. So there he is, the great Brian Finley
with us here on Fox Sports Radio. Jonas Knox with
the Year on FSR. By the way, Knox Locks is back.

(01:12:13):
I do know that Knox Locks is back for week four.
That'll be yours coming up here in we'll call it
about ten minutes from now from the tire Rack dot
Com studios. I do think it's this is going to
be an interesting watch. So, first of all, one of
the most relieved people in the NFL this weekend is
Tom Brady because he doesn't have to call a Cowboys
game because good Christ. I mean, like all he's doing

(01:12:37):
are Cowboys, Cowboys, Cowboys. So he's probably sick of it
at this point. You know, I'd like to spread my
wings a little bit. I know, I guess, and I
get it, like we've seen the same team over and
over again. But he is going to go see his ex,
going to go see the Buccaneers and they're playing the Eagles,
and it's one of the more interesting matchups because Tampa
Bay's got to bounce back after what the hell that
was last week against against Denver, and then you've got

(01:12:57):
you know, Philly who feels better about things, but they're
all banged up. So it's gonna be interesting to see
how that plays out. But what's even more interesting is
the fact that Tom Brady's back in town. And this is,
you know, after the Baker Mayfield comments came out. Remember
last week we were playing those comments. They were on
the Cosa de Clube podcast. I mean, by the way,

(01:13:19):
at some point, like I think we've kind of, you know,
run out of ideas here. So it's Corey Klueber's podcast
they call Casa day Clube. Listen, I'm just real. It's
what the name is, all right, don't I'm not here again,
judgment free zone here on this show. But Baker Mayfield
was basically saying that, you know, Tom played some mind
games there when he wanted the offense to go a

(01:13:39):
certain way, and you know, guys were a little bit
high strung and stressed out when I got here because
of the way Tom was. And then lo and behold
the next week there's Tom Brady, And I mean, he
can't be a part of these meetings to have a
conversation with Baker Mayfield or anything like that, because, you know,
because he's, you know, wanting to be an owner of
the rate. But I do just wonder if maybe at

(01:14:00):
some point during the course of the broadcast, if Brady
finds an opportunity to point out some of those comments,
you know, I just wonder. I just wonder if you know,
me maybe finds an opportunity to try and work something
in about those comments or bring something up about you know, apparently,
according to my teammates, I had everybody too stressed out
as they were winning Super Bowl. I just I wonder
if he's gotten in him or if he wants to

(01:14:23):
be as professional as possible to try and prove all
those people wrong who are critical of his performance in
the first week. But something tells me, if there's an opportunity,
maybe Kevin Berkhart tees him up for something. Tom Brady's
gonna remind everybody as some of those comments from Baker Mayfield.
Jonas Knox here on Fox Sports Radio at the Jonas

that as well too, if you happen to want to
take that route. Now, we did have obviously Knox locks

(01:15:49):
last week. Not great, But again I shouldn't be held
accountable for this, As Brian Finley pointed out, we are
making some of these picks. We are making these picks
a day before the game or you know, at least
you know, significant time before the game. And I just
would like to point out the fact that, look, it's
not my fault that, you know, having the Bears getting
a point in Indianapolis went the way that it went,

(01:16:11):
all right, did you see some of the play calling?
Did you see some of that craft that went on
there in Indianapolis last week? Okay, but that was a loss.
I would like to take credit for the New Orleans
Saint or the Philadelphia Eagles beating the Saints rather, the
Eagles were getting three points at the time of the pick,
so we're looking at one and one, And it all
came down to the game that I was the most
confident about the game that I looked at and said,

(01:16:33):
you know what, you know something right early in the week,
I loved the Cowboys getting a point at home against
the Ravens, And in fact, I couldn't figure out why
Dallas was getting a point. You mean, like you were
at Baltimore. Team hasn't won a game yet and their
favorite in Dallas, Are you kidding me? And guess what happened?
The Cowboys did what the Cowboys like to do sometimes,

(01:16:55):
just came out and laid an egg and looked flat
and terrible. You know, it just looked awful. You know,
they made it close, you know, the bets stayed alive
a little bit towards the end, and then ultimately they
just you know, melt it down and fell apart and
ended up losing the game out right. So another one
and two week here on the show, which puts our
overall record at two and seven on the year. And

(01:17:18):
I know some of you are gonna laugh and say, oh,
you're not good at dish why do you even bother?
You know what you got options? You could fade me,
if you got the balls, Why don't you fade me?
Go against me?

Speaker 3 (01:17:26):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
I dare you, like, step up if you think that
my picks are terrible, and you can go ahead and
you can fade me, and you can send those over
and let me know that you've got the guts to
try and take that route when it comes to betting
on the NFL this weekend. But unlike you, and unlike
a lot of people out there, I don't let the
negative stuff get to me to where I run away

(01:17:47):
and hide. No no, no, no no. Because we're back
for Week four.

Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
Lock it, let's lotch it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:55):
Knocks locks Jaguars, Texans.

Speaker 2 (01:18:01):
I'm gonna take the Jacksonville Jaguars here, And you want
to know why not because they're good? Because they're not.
But they're getting six and a half points. And I
know that Houston's coming off a game in which they
looked really really bad and they just did not go
well at all and nothing seemed right and all that's it.
But if we're being honest here about the Houston Texans,

(01:18:23):
have they been good this year? I mean, seriously, like
you beat Indianapolis the first game, and that's nice and all,
but it wasn't like they looked great aga in Chicago,
and they sure as hell didn't look good last week.
So if I'm looking at Jacksonville in a gotta have
it game, a divisional game, with all the other smoke
that's out there about the organization and Doug Peterson and

(01:18:44):
Trevor Lawrence in company, I'll take Jacksonville getting the six.

Speaker 1 (01:18:47):
And a half Patriots said forty nine ers.

Speaker 2 (01:18:52):
I mean, listen, the Patriots are brutal. Like there's no
other way to put it. They are brutal. And I
know this is a big spread, and I know you
know it's a lot of points. But if I'm looking
at the Niners minus ten, I'll take the Niners minus ten.
Listen to the injuries aside Brandon Ayuk not wanting to
change shorts and throw a tantrum, give me San Francisco.

(01:19:13):
Because I don't like the matchup for New England on
the road Seahawks and Lions. I'm gonna take Detroit here.
I am not a believer in the Seattle Seahawks. I
like the Lions minus three and a half. It's a
primetime game. The place is gonna be rocking, and now
Dan Campbell doesn't have to worry about anybody breaking into
his house anymore. So give me the Lions and that
is your Week four edition of Knox Locks. So you

(01:19:37):
get it done here on the show, it's been a
fun one stick around. More FSRX shownas son of a Bitch.
