Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening No Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Happy Saturday, two year old and Paulinesse Kevin Washington with
you be in your ear drums for the next couple
of couple of hours. A couple of years might be
a little too long. A couple of hours. I'm laughing
because man, I feel inadequate. Oh that we came in here.
We're in here right now, ready to do a show,
just you and I. We don't have seventy five people

(00:24):
like LeVar LaVar Anton just left with the whole crew.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
I thought it was like the clown cause yeah, yeah,
they just kept coming out.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
They just kept coming. I was, excuse me, excuse me,
how you do hat?

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Excuse me?

Speaker 4 (00:35):
I'm trying to just give me. Hey, I'm just trying
to get.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
One.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I gotta stup my game up.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
And it was like usually you see that many people
like okay, one person has a camera, one person might
have something that like it was nine cameras. He had
every angle behind you, above you, below you. I was
waiting on a drone all of a sudden being the building.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
What's the V trying to say?

Speaker 2 (00:54):
I don't know what what is you trying to do?
I need to be a part of it, a lot
to get you and a short amount of time, of
course getting ready for Game two tonight NBA Finals. You
have Denver Nuggets, who took game on to tomorrow tomorrow.
You have the Nuggets who took Game one, and they
didn't just take game one. And as you would know
having played in the NBA, sometimes a score, at least

(01:18):
to me, doesn't tell the story. Miami made a good
push in the fourth quarter, but really you could just
tell it was a dominating game from Denver, And if
you look at the stat sheet, Denver kind of got
exactly what you would want from every player, Like this
guy casep Okay, maybe a couple more points from him,
but Aaron Gordon played big first, Jamal Murray did he
was supposed to do. Yokis did exactly what he was

(01:38):
supposed to do. So on and so forth, even Bruce
Brown Miami not the case. Guys who would played well,
maybe played over what we thought they could do. Guys,
how many, I mean, are we not all tired of
the undrafted narrative?

Speaker 3 (01:51):
My gosh.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Like it's a big deal for sure, but at a
certain point it's like if you had a girlfriend or wife,
be like man, you know what she You know, she's
pretty from a girl from style?

Speaker 3 (02:00):
All right? Now?

Speaker 4 (02:01):
Can I just be pretty? Can I just be a hooper?

Speaker 2 (02:03):
How many times you have to keep reminding me that
they're undrafted, But I said that to say they did
play like they were undrafted Game one of the NBA Finals.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
The cream rises to the top and those guys, And
to go back to your point with Denver, You're right,
the score is not indicative of how much of a
beatdown it was. I think the only time the score
is important is for gamblers, and so to me, the
Denver Nuggets. And it also almost bit them in the
butt because it was so easy to build those twenty

(02:36):
point leads. It almost came back to bite them because
they started really relaxing. And when they one thing I've
known for certain, whenever they take Joker out the game,
there's a little lull, you know. He just brings so
much more. And so to me, that's what I was
looking to see how the rest of the guys came
to play. I knew Jamal Murray would be ready. I
definitely knew Joker would be ready, but the fact that

(02:58):
they concentrate on getting Aaron Ordon shots early They're like,
you gonna you're gonna play Smalls against him. Well, we're
gonna make you pay for it. We're gonna force you
to make changes. And so when you make the adjustment
with people are talking about, oh yeah, they need to
play Kevin Love Moore, they need to play Zella. That's
what Denver wants right now.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
It's been about twelve fifteen years when somebody said they
wanted more Cody Zeller, Like, I mean, the only person
is Mama Zella. She might be not Cody Good. That
might be the only person. And you know, I remember
reading that. Now again you do make adjustments again, as
you know, Yes, every now and again you'll play somebody
that maybe was unexpected because they fit a you know,

(03:40):
like if you go back to the early Calves Warriors finals,
all of a sudden, Matthew Delavadova. It's not that he's
a great player, it's just for this particular series he's
playing well againstuff because he can get in his nose,
body up and make it difficult.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
Not that he's gonna stop stuff. You've seen it.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
I'm a Pistons fan, and I remember Tayshaun Prince against
Tracy McGrady back in the day, They're like, we can
we can chase some great averaged about.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Sixty two points against us.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
What we gonna do And then he look around is
like this young rookie dude is kind of playing him well,
and so it happens. So I'm not saying Cody Zaelller
can't find a place or that Kevin Love can't find
a place in the series, but tacked as if that
is the answer.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
I don't agree with that. But I want to touch on.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Jimmy Butler for a second because I want to ask
you something, in all of your basketball expertise, is there
a such thing as over selling someone that we undersold?
Here's what I mean. I think you know where I'm
going with that. We all agreed that Jimmy Butler is
a guy, maybe we should talk about a little bit

(04:41):
more right and maybe you could say it happened a
couple of years ago in the Bubble when he showed
up like dang, okay, Jimmy really is balling.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
And then not only that, he got him to the finals.
He's balling in the finals.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
And I know everybody looks at the Bubble was kind
of flukey basketball because you had guys doing stuff they
normally don't do. However, Jimmy Butler has had a really
nice career, but all of a sudden, he had a
really good first round, this playoff series, this run, and
all of a sudden, we're acting like he's the next
de Jordan, He's this person we need to put some respect,
all of a sudden just automatically call him a Hall

(05:12):
of Famer, and I'm like, hold on, hold on. We
can congratulate someone without going overboard.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
We can say somebody is really good, and man, you
know what, he's a guy.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
We don't want to have my fox hole, but we
don't have to all of a sudden like he's top
fifteen ever. And I think we're starting to do that too.
This is my last point. I throw it to you, Olden.
It's like when somebody says Lebron or Kobe Tupac or
Biggie for me to start big up in my other guy,
I gotta start down, you know, dude, down in your guy.
And I feel like I'm starting almost at the down Jimmy,

(05:42):
because people are starting to put him too high.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Yeah, and you're right, and that's unfortunately how we are
into society. Now, Jimmy Butler's not even the next Kawhi Leonard, right.
You know, he's a really good player, and he does
bring a certain edge to any team he's on. But
let's not get crazy. He's had good runs based on
the fact that other teams played like trash, and so

(06:06):
a lot of that stuff comes into play too. Now
you're playing against a very smart, talented, and athletic team,
it's gonna make a lot tougher for Jimmy Butler. So no,
you're not gonna be exposing the Denver Nuggets like you
did the Boston Celtics. Case in point, marcaut Smart won
the NBA Defensive Player the year. I saw market Smart

(06:29):
do more three sixty turns during that series than I've
ever seen in my life of any player, let alone
of dpoy and so to me, it was because of
bad decisions, bad basketball. All of a sudden, Jimmy Butler
became this guy. But like you said, to your point,

(06:51):
I'm not gonna knock other people to pump up Jimmy Butler.
You know, I'm gonna respect what he's done and that's it.
Let's not go overboard. I totally agree with you. We
have gone overboard. All the narratives are really over the
top nowadays. And that's the bad part.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
When you don't have something sexy going on, where you
don't have the warriors and stuff and all the glamor
that they've had over the last seven eight years, when
you don't have Lebron and.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
You know, will this make him the greatest of all time?

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, we got a final.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
We gotta start at I mean we are the gym.
I mean, I've seen list Jimmy Butler. Would you rather
have you know him, Kobe and a gaming all right?

Speaker 3 (07:25):
Guys to keep the fans, and they think it's doing
the right thing, but it's really doing a disservice to
the league. Because you have thirty NBA teams, that means
all thirty are capable of being in the NBA. All
the players are some are gonna be better than others.
That's why I was getting mad at people say, oh,
this guy sucks, he sucks compared to.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Lebron, right right, right right? I thought that to be
all the time. If you play, if you play an NBA, listen,
I've been on the court with Jalen Rose and Chauncey
Billups and all these other guys. If you ever played
ball with Charlie Bell, a guy who is a former pro,
let's just say they might even be sixty five years past,

(08:08):
you know, playing days. They will bust your butt so
easily at the local YMCA or rec center easily.

Speaker 4 (08:15):
Now take the fifteenth man on the team.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Man, he sucks.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Like you said, Man, I'm like dude, if he went
to any gym, any pickup run, he would get busy.
To your point, I'm sorry, I can't handle the rock
like Kyrie, the greatest officer itcams are. I can't shoot
it like Klay Thompson. But there's only four hundred and
fifty spots in the world in the NBA, and all
of these guys secure a spot for a reason. So
I'm totally with you on that. But going back to

(08:38):
the Jimmy thing, I think he's been spectacular and I
do think there's something to him being and doing maybe
the opposite of Kawhi Leonard, him kind of saying I'm
gonna play the regular season in order to play most
of the games, and I'm gonna play hard, but I'm
not gonna play all the way max out or maybe
I'm gonna give some more responsibility to these other players,
and we might lose some games because maybe I didn't

(08:59):
go all out and you know, and dominate this game.
But I know I'm gonna need him, and I'm gonna
need him, and i'm gonna need him to be confident,
and I'm gonna need him to remember that time he
took over a game back in March.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
I'm gonna need that later.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
And it seems like maybe Jimmy does that to kind
of get himself in a pace that he's able to
play and perform in the playoffs, except for obviously Game one,
and it just was a tough game for him and
the whole team. But I think he lived a little
bit of that versus you look at a Kawhi and
you just don't know, Kawhi, you not playing?

Speaker 4 (09:30):
That's what I want to ask him, Kawhy aren't you
on the court?

Speaker 3 (09:34):
Kawhi? Can we never depend on you?

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Kaw Why are you taking time off and then not
even playing when we need you.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
That's a whole other discussion, But I want to make
a point here to what you said, Like, Jimmy botlet's
score fourteen points the other night. I don't give a
damn about anything else. You have to step up. Uh
Nikola Jokic first quarter six assists because he saw a mismatch.
They kept feeding down Gordon. Yep, I think four or

(10:00):
five of his assist went to Aaron Gordon. Then all
of a sudden, Miami Heat in the fourth quarter makes
a run. So what happens?

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Let me go ahead and get y'all some buckets. I'm
the star, I'm a two time MVP. Should have been three,
give me a bund and he came through and all
it wasn't three point shots. He got on the block,
turn around jumper, turn around jumper stuff he knows he
can knock down and put the game out of out

(10:28):
of commission. It was like it was beautiful to watch.
And I love good basketball. I swear I love good
basketball on its being played. Then, so what you're saying
not that it is you don't really like most of
the NBA, then I don't. To be honest, I enjoyed
for what it is entertainment. But when teams aren't playing,
when they just coming down jack jacking up shots, it's

(10:49):
Boston South that you're gonna say that. I can't watch that.

Speaker 3 (10:52):
I cannot watch Jail and Brown stand at the top
of the key of Jason Tam said, top of key,
go through the legs, through the legs, pull up jump shots.
That's not basketball.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
I'm so glad you said that, because I feel like
I keep doing that.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
We've all done this.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
We remember our father's doing it, our grandfather's doing it,
your uncle's doing it.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
Boy, ain't know me.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Let me tell you something back in the earth, wind
and fire back of my day, that was music right there.
Put that all right, the boy, ain't im gonna say
about commodore. Boy, let me tell you some about little Riche.
Let me tell you Lutha Van Dress is singing. You
got your little Chris Brown's dancing out here, so you
have that right. You have your dad talking about oh
that has no band. Let me tell you about Nara Vonna.
Tell you about the Beatles.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Do you hear that?

Speaker 2 (11:28):
That is real songwriting right there? Let me tell you
about the Beach Boys. Right there, Brian Wilson, what he
was doing was right my basketball. Larry Bird passed past,
and then Bill Walkinger throw behind the backpack. I'm starting
to turn into that guy. And I've always tried to
remain hip and cool and the you know, staying in
the know. But it's starting to happen alder where. I'm like,
all right, first of all, I'm a basketball nuts. I'm

(11:50):
gonna why you have me? You have me at hello,
I'm gonna watch it anyway. I love the game. I'm
all in. But I watched the games and I'm like, man,
I miss guys operating off of the elbow, you know,
just like, hey, I'm gonna get an easy bucket coch
And we think of all these amazing talented guys who
can fly through the air, Jordan, Kobe, t macvincre.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
It's like, if you actually remember, a lot of it was.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Operated off the elbow or elbow extend it just kind
of facing you up, wonder of a.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
Pull up, try and go offense. Everything else was based
off of that.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
And it's just it's crazy to see how we've gotten
so far from that.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
I do you know.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
I was listening to somebody recently talk about who they
believe a part of the problem is, and I want
to throw this at you next, and then I also
want to stick get back to Nicola Jokic and how
he makes it so hard to hate him, But is
the NBA kind of like, Ah, we need another star.
I don't know if he'll be the guy that we
need to lead the future. We'll talk about that and

Oh just stop right now.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Older, you were older, you were sounding like we just
talked about Let me tell you something. It's instagramed talking
can my day. We had the hook a face. That's Facebook, uncle?
Oh you know what I mean?

Speaker 3 (14:33):
What shoes? My Space?

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Although my space? Hey, my Space? It used to get real.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
You were going there and looking all sudden somebody demoted
you and you were top nine is not top eight anymore.
It was gonna be some smoke in the city. What's
up brouh Hey, real quick, what's up with that dug?
I saw I'm not in your top eight no more. Man,
I'm just business music. I just had to move this
other dude, Okay, wown, Okay, I'm just saying, you know,
my Space was a thing for what a vine river

(15:03):
vine was recent though? Yeah, but hey remember black Planet,
black oh black first of all? All right, So for
those who maybe are I'm black or who maybe had
a burner account and on black Planet, black Planet was
like my Space pre black In fact, I'm okay, somebody

(15:24):
google and tell me if I'm right. I feel like
everyone took the idea for all the things that we
have now from my from black Planet. I could be wrong.
I feel like black. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe there was
like Christian Mingo was first, maybe fish in the Sea
or whatever it was for all all those other ones.
Real farmers Only, which, by the way, how we confirmed

(15:47):
do you have to show a picture of your farm
to be on farmers Only?

Speaker 6 (15:50):
Like?

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Can you be like a city dude with Howard the
farmer girls? I don't know, right, somebody find that out
for me. But yeah, at black plane dot com was real,
It was real. I remember I had a girl mad
at me because like of a message I had so
I'm like, first all were not even to gether, like
like it was like the first social media beef I
ever had. Like what in the world, girl, Oh boy,

(16:13):
I tell you what anyway, kup live for me kd
U B B L I v E on social media.
Find me on all the platforms there couldn't get Kelvin
Washington Olden on Twitter.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
It doesn't go all the way that did. That's why
I'm old and Ponies won. Somebody had it, Yes, you
got out here. No, some guy just took my name.
That's insane.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
You know, his name made Olden. It is eight billion
people on the earth.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
His name is not old and Polonies man. And that
Kelvin Washington on Instagram. There's one dude. I've talked about
it here before. One young black dude put a picture
up back in like twenty twelve. He's never posted since,
to the point Olden I stopped making jokes because I'm like,
maybe he's not with us anymore.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
But it was just one little.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
Picture him trying to look cool, holding little tolerant his
new There's.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
A gazillion Kelvin Washington.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
There are, and did you notice a lot of them
are Asian. There's a lot of asient covin in Washington's
I'm always shocked. Real talk, seriously, there are a lot
of saying there are a lot we've digressed.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
So I'm always Washington, Southeast Asian name.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
It's a Kelvin part of it. There's a lot of kelvin,
you know, Asian kelvin. You'll think I'm talking to Washington,
not the Washington.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
I do know asient kelvin. Kelvin like a heat.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
It's a way of of It's like kelvin, un measure exactly.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Also the kelvinator as well, the fantastic Helvin is under used.

Speaker 4 (17:44):
Thank you Calvin well verse yes.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
And that also, by the way, a lot of people
call me that in my own family can kelvin My
mama Ma shout out to Mama Dub who hopefully listen
to those people she called now. She would never say
it incorrectly to you all. She like, Hi, my son
is Kelvin. But if I was upstairs back and then
come on down there.

Speaker 7 (18:04):
If you see your name a little like differently could
come out as Calvin on but you put a little
too much cal in that Calvin ye like keenan.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
And that settled down all right, back to what we
were saying here, we're talking about Nikola Jokis two times
should have been three time MVP. MANI say, some still
say too old and because they the one last year
they said, oh please, are you giving me recency bias
that we realize? Okay, he is the best player. By
the way, is Giannis under the Koumpo sitting at home
like yo. If I wasn't injured, maybe we don't lose

(18:32):
that series. Maybe y'all don't think I'm not still the
best player in the league.

Speaker 3 (18:35):
If my aunt had testicles, should be my uncle.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
And there you having, folks. That's our show for today.
We'll get back at you next. I have heard of
if it was a fifth we'd all be drunk. But
I haven't heard of that one because at the end
of the day, I'm not doing that. I look at
my man's stats. That's all I'm going by. I don't
care by skin tone, I don't care about nationality. I'm
going by stats. Okay, and the i embiid. Embiid had

(19:00):
a great year, granted, but you have to do more
than just score thirty points. There's other things you have
to put together, bring your team together, that's an MVP.
That's the most valuable. And I said this before when
NB was out six is one game when Giannis was out.
Milwaukee won games when Joker was out they got drug.

(19:25):
That's a whole difference. That's a great point because that's
a whole rug team. That is a whole different team,
for sure. I want to I want to talk about
how so a couple of things he does. First of all,
I hate that he's so non hateable, if that makes sense.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
So nice. He's so nice. He wears his on his shoelaces.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
At the end of the game, he points to his
left hand because it's something that he and his daughter do.

Speaker 3 (19:52):
He's holes.

Speaker 2 (19:53):
He makes fun of himself that try you're the best
player in Lady's like. It's uncomfortable with it. He hates
I'm like, man, this guy is so but isn't that refreshing?
It is?

Speaker 1 (20:04):
It is.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
But the problem with that is and not problem, but
I think if you're the league, you're used to having
Lebron have been the face of the and he's probably
still maybe the face as far as recognition, But you know,
your superstars had something charming about them, something, you know,
something even if it was.

Speaker 4 (20:20):
I didn't like the whole Charles Barkley. You know, I'm
a tough guy.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
You don't like me.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
I'm not a role model like with Yogic, just like
what do we promo? Like what do you do build
a bear? Like, like, well, how do you market him?
He's he's he's not very the typical NBA player in
that regard of like it it's something there.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
I don't know what you do with it. This is
how the best way to describe it. And again it
goes back to we were sitting at home, my wife
and I and watching videos of Magic, Bird and Jordan
cause she's like, yeah, I've never seen these guys play that. Yeah,
so I show all the videos. She's like, oh my god,
you could tell this stars. But these guys became stars.

(21:05):
They weren't fabricated or might not give you Magic because
he was at the star in high school. But that's
what I'm saying. They became stars. That's my point. They
became So Magic was a star in high school. They
gave him the nickname Magic. It wasn't forced, it wasn't fabricated.
Got so it's like Bird is a star in college

(21:26):
in high school, we're hearing about him. People talk about
I didn't know he was white, you know, as good
as he was Michael Jordan, the shot in college. So
all these things were happening. Charles Barclay, you know, his
personality was already there round minor rebound, so we didn't
have to make it up. It was already there.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
It just grew.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Now we have to create stars. We have to create
these guys. And that's the problem. The NBA has happened
because Okay, Jimmy Butler's a great play He's into country music.
I love that. Ye that's him. That's his thing. But
it's like, so the marketing is gonna go for that route.
He has a big commercial all that stuff, so you
can do that. Jokers said, you know what, we don't

(22:10):
see a lot of Yannis and commercials. It's the couple.
But yeah, is that far as big as he is
with Embiid? Like with Embiid is Embiid.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
In Philly talking about, Hey, what I would I could call?

Speaker 3 (22:24):
I go to Bob. You know, Lebron has commercials, Steph
has commercials, the rest of the league, Kawhi has one.
And that's.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
So it's Chris Paul Cliff Paul is a great campaign.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
Chris Paul. That was a great campaign. I love that.
But it's like there's there's not enough of these guys
and so to the point where we have to make
up storylines and narratives, and so that's my thing. I
just don't like it right now because we're creating and
not create, fabricating, fabricating stars, and that that's the problem
that I'm having.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Well, at least we know we'll have one coming up,
at least in the new joh Wick. They call it
that Man joh Wick calling that Man joh Wick, so
we know he'll have a movie coming out. Oh, Man
joh Wick. The memes coming up, all right, So a
whole lot more to get to, of course, getting you
ready for Game two of the NBA Finals happening tomorrow.

(23:23):
We'll talk about that some more in store two. And
I want to ask Olden about coaches, some new hires
in the NBA. How much does a coach really make?
How much of a difference do they really make. We'll
discuss that, but right now it's what's trending.

Speaker 6 (23:36):
Yeah, Brian Finley here and thanks to Kelvin and Olden.
As far as what's going on right now. NBA forward
Julius Randall had surgery on his left ankle and a
scheduled to be back for the Knicks training camp. Former
Yukon and coach Kevin Olly joining the Nets coaching staff.
Came one of the Stanley Cup Final getting underway tonight
in Vegas, Golden Knights clashing with the Florida Panthers starting

(23:57):
at eight pm Eastern. As far as May League baseball
games going on right now, the Rays are taking it
to the Red Sox three to nothing, top of the fifth.
I think Tampa has runners on first and second, Tigers
in a white Sox just underway middle of the second inning.
There the Memorial Tournament is happening. PGA Tour. Headeq Matsiyama
has the lead at nine under. Collectively, he is two

(24:19):
under four the day through four holes. Patrick Cantlay forming
UCLA Bruin is two shots off the pace in solo
second at seven under one under today four shots or
excuse me, four holes in, and Rory McElroy is four
strokes behind at five under for the tournament one under
today through six holes.

Speaker 8 (24:39):
A lot of baseball coming up.

Speaker 6 (24:41):
Olden and Kelvin later on today, including that big Dodgers game,
which is going to be on Fox Television at seven
fifteen Eastern Ton Dodgers and Yankee. So that let's get
it back to olden Paul Nice and Kelvin Washington.

Speaker 4 (24:55):
Appreciate you, Brian, Brian, I'll be coming out here trying
to give me your.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Super hey or give him this super ready. But he's like, Hey,
I'm just gonna hop on there with you guys and
just take over.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
Is that what you're trying to know?

Speaker 8 (25:07):
You didn't know my name? So I was trying to
like so so people didn't know because we've worked together, right, hold.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
On, hold on, hold on, Sam cut the music. He
first off, why are you coming at me like, how
do you know?

Speaker 3 (25:20):
I didn't know your name? Let me ask you.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
Okay, I didn't say your name or I didn't know
your name.

Speaker 8 (25:26):
To that's adain point. You know what they say about
people who assume. Yeah, so you you have a great
point there, KELVI, listen, you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (25:33):
He come in here and he got his V neck
on Donald's belly buttony over here.

Speaker 8 (25:38):
You know it was only buddy that Kell No, Brian,
I know, Kelvin knew your name.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Yeah, thank you, Brian. You see this, this cup here,
this is Loyola Law School. That's why I was able
to come back at you with that defense. My wife
graduated law school. So now for like, I'm a lawyer.
You can't tell me nothing right now. Anybody got any issues?
How at your boy? I take care of anybody. What
you need right now? You some parking tickets? I got you, Yes,

(26:03):
you know, somebody got somes. Nobody going through a divorce,
I got you. You need an entertainment lawyer. I'm over here. Yeah,
we'll talk after this. We'll talk after this, all right.
So I want to get to coaching real quick. Just
her Brian talking about Kevin Ali going to be an
assistant coach over there with the nets you got Frank
Vogel look like he's going to be the coach with
the Phoenix Suns, my Detroit Pistons, obviously getting Monty Williams there.

Speaker 4 (26:28):
First off, just the ones that jump out to you.
Do you like those hirings?

Speaker 2 (26:32):
And then I want to ask you from your time playing,
how much of a difference does a coach make?

Speaker 3 (26:40):
You know?

Speaker 2 (26:40):
They have the war wins above replacement, all these types
of stats. And you know they say, this player in
baseball can win you three extra games, this player in basketball.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
What is a coach good for? How would you see that? Well,
I'll start with that one. First, coaches do make a difference.
We used to say some coaches are worth five to
ten games a season. And so I was lucky enough
to play for some of the greatest coaches ever. And
so to me, Jerry Sloan, Casey Jones, Bernie Bickerstaff, I

(27:11):
mean I had all these guys Don Cheney, so they
knew how to handle situations. They didn't break down, you know,
they were calm, cool, collected in the moment. And we
didn't have all this, all these statistics and analytics. It
was go out there, play basketball, run our offense, play defense,

(27:33):
win the game. That was it, right, There was nothing else.
Seems simple. And so to me, excuse me, it's changed
now with analytics. Well, he likes to shoot over here,
he likes Oh, at the end of the day, it's
still a basketball game. And I think that's where a
lot of these coaches have faulted because they are trying

(27:53):
to like coach by analytics as opposed to coaching. What
I have you know this guy. Yeah, the analytics might
say he does this, but I might be able to
use him better over here. So it's one of those
weird situations. And again people are just trying to maintain
their jobs. We've seen coaches a year to remove from

(28:14):
championships getting fired at that crazy it's yeah, thing I've
ever seen. And so it's like, but at the end
of the day, they turned right back around and get rehired.
So yeah, but that but okay, I'm glad you said that.
So that's what makes it weird for me.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Like Frank Vogel sucked a year ago, all of a sudden,
or whatever the case may be, for the Lakers, give him,
but now he's great enough to go to a team
that has championship expectations. Like what it's like, Manti Williams, Hey,
you let this team all of a sudden, you stabilize
the Phoenix team that wasn't talking about nothing for about
ten twelve years since Steve Nash. Now, all of a sudden,
they're relevant, they're good that, we have high expectations. They
make it to an NBA Finals not too long ago.

(28:50):
Get out. But yet Detroit's, oh, that's our guy. It's like,
can we give you you seventy eight man? We kill
you all the bag. We gave him the whole bag.
So it's like, what it just makes me laugh to
your point. First of all, who had more jobs in
the history of NBA coaching than Mike Woodson. I feel
like Mike Woodson has coached half of the NBA, if
not more. I mean, and I'm sure there's a couple

(29:12):
of the guys if I put my brain to it,
that just like they just went from team to tea
to team to team to team, and it's like, Okay,
is he is.

Speaker 8 (29:19):
He good coach or not?

Speaker 3 (29:20):
Like what do we cause?

Speaker 2 (29:21):
To me?

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Yes, a retread a time or two.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
I get that, But I would be looking for the
next filling the blank from maybe whether it's college or
whether it's a guy that who let me find my
Eric Sposter And I want to throw this at you,
Eric Sposter. Good years, great years, championship, bad years? Why
is it the NBA a little bit more? And maybe
even all leagues a little bit more? Like the Pittsburgh

(29:46):
Steelers and Mike Tomlin. You know, they have three coaches
and what's like seventy years literally where they're just like, hey,
these guys work. We know they're not always gonna have
great seasons. Obviously Mike Tomlin hasn't had a losing season.
Up point is, this is our guy. We're gonna ride
with him through the ups to the downs. Sometimes it's
our fault we didn't surround him with the right town.

(30:07):
Sometimes it's literally just that dude was injured. Sometimes hey
we gambled. That guy just wasn't good enough. But that's
our guy. I'm always weirded about that, like coach of
the year fired, championship fired in a year or two,
Like is he your guy?

Speaker 1 (30:19):
Or nah?

Speaker 3 (30:20):
That's true? I mean, to your point, the Steelers an
aberration along with right now with the heat san Antonio
Spurs with pop yep and now the heat, and then
also with depending on what he decides to do, the
Warriors with Steve Kirk. So Steve Kirk can do whatever

(30:42):
he wants, Popovich can do whatever he wants, supposed to
can do whatever. But the key of it is this,
the Steelers knew that they wanted continuity and they built
that culture just like the Heat. Famously said by Pat,
don't you ever come in my office telling me who

(31:03):
to fire yeah, he's not firing Eric Sposu. Doesn't matter
if it's the owner whomever. He will stand up for
it because it's like, hey, we have something good here,
and the key to it is this, Like with Tomlin,
Popovich and Spostra and Kerk, the message changes even though

(31:23):
it's the same we gotta win, but they find different
ways to say the same message over and over. So
it's not old, right, it still sounds fresh, it still
sounds exciting, and so to me, that's the key. A
lot of these guys aren't able to do that. A
lot of these coaches aren't even people persons. They just
got a job, you know, so they think they got

(31:46):
to act a certain way or be a certain way.
It's not even conducive to them. It's just like, hey,
this is how I thought I was supposed to act
and be and then you get caught. But to your point,
like guys get fired. My man wasn't good enough for
the Lakers, but now he's good enough for I'm just
like for the Sun, which is a nice team.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
And he's walking right into expectation, your contract that and
he's walking in or he's walking into like, uh, it's
championship or bus. He's not walking into rebuild, rebuild or
let's have us. Hey, we make it between you and us,
you and I. If we make it to the playoffs,
that's a good seat. Like no, he's walking in, Hey, bro,
I'm as I've always said this, this is what I

(32:27):
would like to see. And it's nothing against any of
those gentlemen, you know, because I wouldn't want it to
happen to me. But I do believe it should be
talked about. If you get fired as a coach with
a losing record, you should have to sit out of here.
M You should not be getting rewarded with a better job.

(32:51):
That's just my opinion. I just don't like that part
of it. Now, if you're winning like bullting Holes Bulden
Holeser never should have been fired.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
I'm sorry. He should not have been fired. His brother died.
You know, so many different things what's happening, and you know,
Giannis gets hurt and then you're gonna fire him. He's
allowed to go get another job somewhere. But if a
guy is just struggling like a Dwayne Casey when he
was with Detroit, he should not be getting a job
right now.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
He got one he's hanging out in the office. He
should he lost up he should not upgrade. He got
upgraded right there. But I always see that all these
coaching movies, and I'm just kind of weired out by it.
I'm like, I don't I don't get it. If you like,
if I got a guy to give him some time,
we suck. We got this rebuilding process and he's slowly
inching us in the right direction. Or if you have

(33:41):
again a situation where look, man, this guy had you
brought up coach budd It's like lost his brother, uh
Giannis out a couple of games, and yes, Joannis came
back and they probably should have won those games. But
just got It's like you're not rewarded for anything. I know,
it's what happened. Janet Jackson is loving it. It's what
happened for me lately. I understand that. But I'm just
always kind of like, dang and some of the jobs

(34:01):
of stop gaps.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Okay, yeah, the NBA, a lot of the gms, they'll
bring in a guy for a year or two. You know,
we saw it with Silas, you know in Houston, that
was a stop gap. He wasn't gonna be that long.
I mean, I love him. His father was like the
dead friend of mine who got rest in peace. But
it's like he was not gonna be the guy to
lead them to the promised land. You know, he's just

(34:25):
not on that level. There's only a few coaches, just
like players, there's only a few high level coaches.

Speaker 2 (34:31):
You just reminding me when Paul George admitted he's not
that guy a couple of months ago. For those who
don Pablo George was on his podcast and he just said,
at a certain point he realized, like I'm not the one,
and by one, I mean like a type of player,
that caliber player who just having me. We're gonna get to,
you know, the finals or get to a championship like
I did. I appreciate that. I hate that everybody. Oh man,

(34:52):
I would never say, I'm like, dude, how about he plays?
How about he first off, he is himself. Secondly, he
plays the game. He's around folks and he knows what
it And you just said it. There's only five guys
or so that you're like, all right, and they're prime.
I mean, obviously Lebron's probably is past that, but like
you knew prime Lebron, we go into the finals.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
Paul George has all my respect to come back from
the injury he had. I ain't got nothing negative to
say about him. Yep.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
That's a great point there, Olden Police, coming Washington with
you in on the Jonas Knox Show Here at Fox

up the deal. We'll talk about that. Next is Fox
Sports Radio. Hey, hey, shout out to Jennet Jackson. She's

(35:51):
gonna be out here back on tour doing her thing
that at Yamava yea somewhere in one of these casinos
out here. Yep, think about taking the wife, but studying
for the bar right now. So she said, looked at
me and said, boy, you know I'm gonna and she
was that that gift, And when I got time for that,
I was like, okay. She loves Jenna Jackson, Jonas Docs
Show kelvin Washington, Olden Polonies and for Jonas eight seven

(36:14):

seven ninety nine on Fox. If you want to reach
out Olden Polonies one for old and cadub Live for
myself social media, feel free to reach out to us.
Welcome back into the Fox Sports Red Zone Radio Live
from the ti rack dot com studios.

Speaker 4 (36:30):
Uh, real quick little football.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
Talk that we've been talking a little heavy NBA obviously
as we are in the NBA Finals. But there there
was a report from Ian Rappaport and some others about
the fact that he there was a chance last season
during the offseason that Russell Wilson was going to be
traded to the Philadelphia Eagles and that they were looking

(36:55):
at him, They were really interested interested in him during
the combine time, and that he was in the Commanders
as well were looking at him. But that eventually the
deal kind of fell through because he said now he
had a no trade clause and he was not interested
in joining those teams.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
Boy did that not go right for him and go
extremely right for the Eagles.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
Man.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
You talk about sometimes God works in mysterious ways. I
think the Eagles fans found exactly who they won for
the next decade. And Jalen Hurts, Yes, they found their guy,
they found their success. He played an amazing super Bowl.
You can kind of tell the way he's built mentally,
the way he works out his body physically, and you're
and older and if you look at his history just

(37:37):
adversity at the verse, you're gonna be the guy. I wait,
no hold on to is the guy? You're gonna be
this guy? No way, Okay, we're gonna draft you high,
will draft a little bit later. It's like he just
keeps trugging a long innovative and that his agent, his
whole his whole entire staff around him is all women.
So this guy is a star, and I think obviously Eagles.

Speaker 3 (37:54):
Got that right. And then it just went bad for Denver.
Oh man, it was. I mean, you think about in hindsight,
it's like, yeah, it worked out well, but I still
wouldn't have done it even without Jailing Hurts. I mean,
Russell Wilson had his moments in his time, and so
what happened was that whole situation in Seattle with Pete

(38:15):
Carroll Man. It just started deteriorating. But when he got
to Denver, he was a shell of himself. Man, And
it's almost like he's a system quarterback. We realized that, now,
don't he said this some quarterback.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
I don't want to believe it, but I'll say this,
odin all of those former teammates who just either no comment,
had nothing positive say, or who were going at him
or at.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
Him like man's waterback, and yeah, you know where they
smoked his fire. And so to me, yeah, you know,
he comes across as this guy, he's a good family man,
and I get all that, but at the end of
the day, it's what are you doing on the field?
And so to me, he was in a great situation.
I would have found a way to stay in Seattle,

(39:02):
you know, outside of that Botch debacle or whatever you
want to call it the super Bowl. It still doesn't
make no sense that I'm never gonna understand that one.
I know right now.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
I mean I really do think I can't think. I'm
trying to think of you guys helped me out. Can
you think of any bigger blunder in sports? We're like,
it's an obvious, Like the dude you just handed in
the ball, you got like six yards, fell down at
the one and a half yard line.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
They barely want to stop. They just everybody knew man
Shawn was getting the ball. He still was gonna get it.

Speaker 2 (39:38):
They didn't call that man Beatmoll for no reason. He
was still getting in and the Patriots were going to
retreat a little bit, trying to save a little bit
of time.

Speaker 3 (39:44):
Anyway, we don't have to rehash that, but that was
one of those. So that's his whole thing. And then
you know, the whole situation in Denver was just it
was horrible. You know, Hacker gets fired and all that
because Russell was not he wasn't used to that system,
in that style and having to carry a two team.
He had help in Seattle, he had the defense, one
of the top defenses, and just a great situation offensively,

(40:08):
you know, with.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Like so, yeah, it was horrible and it didn't look
good at all the things that you thought, like, Okay, well,
at least you can rely on this with him, it
wasn't the case.

Speaker 6 (40:19):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
And again he started to see at least at least perceptionally,
I won't speak for the players, it looked like some
of the players weren't buying them. You saw some of
the tweets, You saw some of the reactions on the
sideline with him, some of the facial expressions. Uh, you
heard about guys gotta you know how they couldn't approach him,
and then you know he had certain Yeah, and you
think it.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
Would have been better in Philadelphia. They they booed Santa Claus.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
Santa Claus, Santa Claus chilling in the North Pole right now, like, Hey,
I'm taking the kids agains.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
Why a y'all mad at me?

Speaker 2 (40:50):
But it's interesting And that's what That's one of the
best things about sports is you just never know as
much as we all think we know. Uh, even with
you know, Victor wabin Yama whatever I know, I brought
you that name. He might end up who knows, he
might ask me or anything about him. Oh you got
some intail or something? All right, hold on, let me
dropping little stuff like that. Don't that You just gave
me my tease. When we come back, older, it's gonna

(41:12):
break down some more dudes of Victor. We'll talk about
it Fox Sports Radio. Relax, old, and you got a
few more hours to your Yankees lose to the Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (41:22):
Yeah, hey said stop stop stop stop. Okay, I'm sorry.
I just don't mean it. Did I tell you?

Speaker 4 (41:30):
Bookie Bets is really good at baseball. I don't know
if you're aware of that.

Speaker 3 (41:34):
I have a stepson that plays baseball and it's a
Dodger fanatic having their head right all last night and
it was like and I had to take it. We
laid a massive eggs man. I don't know what the anyway.
I know I can't cuss and all that, but so no,
they play well, the Dodgers just hit the off button

(41:54):
real quickly. I'm just giving the Dodgers credit right now
because we play like. Aw, that's the thing about it.
You come right back today and tomorrow and you got
a shout to you know, do you think obviously I know,
we get one. I'm not even saying we're gonna get too.
I just I'm hoping we get one. Is it starting?

Speaker 2 (42:09):
Is it already at the place, Olden where you're like,
just don't embarrass me. Oh yeah, just don't embarrass me.
Jonas Knox Show, Kevin Washington, Olden polinies in for you
about another hour or so for us again, reach out

Speaker 4 (42:40):
Tyrack dot com the way tire buying should be.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
Of course, NBA Finals tomorrow we at the Nuggets up
one game to kneel over the heat. Many folks saying
the heat should just be happy to be there. Obviously,
if you know pat Riley, that ain't the case. Pat
Riley's coming in there, and then that whole organization is
feeling like why not us? Obviously they're out und if
you will, they're under talented when it comes to the Nuggets.

(43:04):
But hey, every single series, we keep going, that's good enough,
but they're not gonna make it. Okay, that's good enough,
but they're not gonna make it, and they keep doing so.
A couple other things I want to get to before
we get back to the NBA Finals. I want to
throw this at you. You and I were talking about
this off air. What do you do if you're the Celtics,
I want you to put in your GM hat right now,
because on one end you can say, hey man, all

(43:27):
I know is Jalen Brown has been the five Eastern
Conference finals. Tatum believe it's four. We've been to the
NBA Finals last year and we were a you know,
a half away, if you will, from going again this year.
They're both under twenty six. So our two wings who
are both all NBA players, they're all Stars, they're under

(43:49):
twenty six. Just keep chugging along, just keep pushing. Then
there's others say I've seen this show before, We've been
here before, and at a certain point we got to
move on. Kind of sell while it's high, right, Jalen
Brown or all NBA player, Let's get something good for
him while we can. Obviously you're not getting rid of Tatum.
Which side of the coin are you on when it
comes to the Boston Celtics.

Speaker 3 (44:11):
I'm on the side of I gotta get rid of
one of those two guys, and I'm keeping Jason Tatum
because he does a little bit more, especially on the
defensive end, which is very pronounced between he and Jail
and Brown, and I'm not tying my team up to
six hundred million dollars for two guys. That's absurd. So
he's all, NBA, let me get something for him now,

(44:34):
because that's not gonna work anymore. We've seen this movie.
It's happened. We're good. That's it. And the funny thing
about it, you know, yeah, they made it to the
to Eastern Conference Finals, but if the seventy six it
hadn't played like Awes in that game when they were

(44:56):
up twelve. You know, Doc Rivers, with his record of
losing three to one leads, Boston never should have been
in there at all. And so to me, they lucked up.
Luck runs out, and to me, the Boston Celtic luck,
that Leprechaun luck, it's run out. So I'm getting rid

(45:16):
of jailing Brown and I'm definitely doing. And I need
a point guard. I need a legitimate, real point guard.
I don't need Marcus Smart maskal raised as a point guard.
Malcolm Brock the maskal rans a point guard, Derek White
maskal R has a point guard. I need a point
guard that can help this team.

Speaker 2 (45:33):
Well, I mean that's obviously a hard position to find.
To find that guy, and uh and then not only that,
if if you're saying trading Jalen Brown, is there a
point guard out there? Because I heard some people saying,
you know, they're they're they're Chris Paul Away or something
like that that you know, first of all, the issue
for them is obviously late in the season, in the playoffs,

(45:54):
Chris Paul be there. It's like that magic Gifferty, like
I shake his head. I'm not gonna be That's like
Chris Paul, He's not gonna be there. But it is
I find myself being like, ah, can I make another
move while not necessarily getting rid of those two? Can
I find a diamond in the rough?

Speaker 3 (46:14):
You know?

Speaker 4 (46:14):
Can I pull a You got to give credit what
credit's due to Rob Polenka in that now.

Speaker 2 (46:20):
Getting Austin Reeves who's about to get piz aid ruy Hachimur,
who's about to get paid.

Speaker 3 (46:25):
Can I find my other pieces like that? You know?
Is it a delo situation?

Speaker 2 (46:31):
You know, which I don't know that that's the answer,
But I'm you know, finding uh, you know, D'Angelo Russell.
But can I find something out there without having to
blow up the ship because we've had so much success
over the last four or five years that I don't
you know, I don't want to blow it all up
and then all of a sudden find myself an eight
seventh seed for the next four or five years.

Speaker 3 (46:51):
It's okay if you have seventh, eight seed or whatever
it is, because at the end of the day, you're
gonna get better. You know, you're gonna get back to
the draft and you're the Boston Celtics. They're gonna figure
it out. I'm just saying I'm not tying up six
hundred million dollars. That's my whole thing right now. And again,
it's your money, spend it the way you want. But

(47:13):
if they trying to improve and get better, these are
things they need. Those two guys cannot coexisting. They've been
doing it and a little bit forced in a lot
of ways. And so to me, that's what people are
looking at. It hasn't been like very cohesive. It's been
forced in a lot of ways. And so that's the key.
The point guard's an issue. We need shooters. We need

(47:36):
legit shooters. Now guys masquerading as shooters. We need legit shooters,
you know, because at the end of the day, like
I said, Jason Tatum Jeleen Brown play exactly the same way.
The only difference between the two of them is that
Jason Tatum is a little bit better. He's more refined defender, yeah,
and he's a little bit more refined with his moves.
But they still have the same ugly drive to the

(47:58):
with the left turnover move.

Speaker 4 (48:03):
Now, listen, I'm not gonna lie to you.

Speaker 3 (48:06):
I'm just I don't like all this stuff.

Speaker 2 (48:08):
Man.

Speaker 3 (48:08):
I know I'm not the old NBA guy hating. I
just like to call things as it is.

Speaker 2 (48:14):
I ain't gonna lie to you. Jayalen Brown, I mean,
Jaylen Brown looks like me trying to ice skate. Like
Jaylen Brown is on the floor all the time. When
he starts doing like if he takes more than three dribbles,
something bad is about to happen.

Speaker 3 (48:27):
He looks like he's wearing ice skates sometimes when he's playing,
like he's always falling down the moves he made they
look awkward because he's the weirdest heck watching him play,
because he's apposed to speak what he's done out of
col You know how, he's become a great player, and
I'm not gonna take that away. From him. But also
you have to know who you are, and that's key too.

(48:50):
I don't think he's thinking he's up here, he's Kobe
and all these guys. MJ Lebron. No, you're not.

Speaker 2 (49:00):
You're not well, I think, and he'll tell you. I
think he has that whole mindset. If I don't believe it,
you know, I can't be it kind of a thing.

Speaker 7 (49:06):
You know that.

Speaker 3 (49:07):
That's self assurance and self aware man. Paul George, we
talked about earlier. Saying I'm not the one doesn't mean
I'm not a good player. I'm married one. Yeah, I'm
just not that guy. I'm not the guy that's gonna
lead your team. I'm I'm Robin.

Speaker 2 (49:21):
I think we've understaw Paul George by the way, I mean,
got a whole playoff p joke, Joe Joe. But Paul
George is a heck of a player.

Speaker 3 (49:27):
Man.

Speaker 2 (49:27):
Like when he when he's healthy, he's playing, he's a
phenomenal player. You get it on you know, defensive end
as well. I'm a big fan, big fan of Paul George.
It'll be interesting to see what they do. Also, have
I mentioned the Lakers a minute ago, it'd be interesting
to see if they can obviously sign those two young
players for themselves. Who they're gonna be. They're gonna be
expecting to get paid. Well, let me ask you a question.
You have to cut you off.

Speaker 3 (49:47):
No, you're good. So gel and Brown couldn't He's getting
three hundred million. He couldn't stop killing one. He made
him some money. He couldn't stop Max Strus. He got
back dooring like seventy eight times by Duncan Robinson. Yeah,
and I'm getting you three hundred million.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
Here's the thing, though, the problem with that is, as
you know, with salary caps when they go up and
certain things like that, it's like, well, I have to
pay somebody this money.

Speaker 3 (50:16):
Easy, I know how it works. But I'm asking you
a questions.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
Jleb First of all, it's like ten guys worth the
money that these guys are getting.

Speaker 3 (50:26):
Now, you know what I mean.

Speaker 4 (50:28):
If Lebron is worth it just simply based off who
he is.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
Okay, fine, he got Steph, you got Giannis and b
obviously your kitsch and you know, maybe if you want
to say Tatum, I'm not mad at that.

Speaker 3 (50:41):
But after about.

Speaker 2 (50:42):
Booker, by the way he Booker, he had a heck
of a playoff run. Heck of a playoff run, and
then obviously like Katie. But outside of that, it's like, uh,
nobody's really dropped down to the next level. Yeah, nobody's
really worth it. And it's okay the next level. Still,
you're still a star. And I said this a while ago,
big diffen between star and superstar, and the money should

(51:07):
reflect that. I'm glad you said that. Man, I wish
we had some of the same folks who were here
last time I was here. Sam, you were you were
I think you were here the last time I was here.
Do you remember when we had that conversation when I
said that there is a difference between a superstar, a
star and a really good player, and I gave the
example and you are perfect. President has this Odin Klay

(51:27):
Thomas Klay Thompson is not a superstar, He's a star.

Speaker 4 (51:33):
I got backlash on that.

Speaker 2 (51:34):
I also said that uh Bam out of Bayu is
not a star, he's a really good player, and everybody
was arguing with me about it.

Speaker 3 (51:43):
It made a big old deal. I'm like, what are
you talking like?

Speaker 4 (51:45):
You gotta understand.

Speaker 2 (51:46):
Superstar is Steph is Jiannis is bron that's a superstar, yo.

Speaker 7 (51:53):
Kids gotta be in different tiers. You gotta break him up.
It doesn't it's not it's not disrespect to those guys.
Just call him a star, right, No, but people, are
you gotta talk about the top ten elite?

Speaker 3 (52:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (52:03):
People have gotten crazy with the stars and superstars. I
think we throw star around a little bit too much. Yeah,
I'm at you. I have to hit people with the
Nate Dunck hold up. All these people are not stars
that y'all keep saying.

Speaker 3 (52:14):
The stars.

Speaker 2 (52:15):
They're really good, play really good. Thank you have that
on deck, because I might just have a whole hold
up segment here and just start going crazy on people
about some stuff. All right, I want to come back
to this. Jimmy Butler playing well, not a great game.
One talked about it. By the way, we got to
talk about this two free throws in an entire game.

Speaker 4 (52:36):
Touch on that.

Speaker 2 (52:37):
And also, if by some miracle chance, Olden the Heat
pulled this off, would this be the least talented final
winning team championship team that we've ever seen. We'll talk
about that next Olden Polines coming Washington with you in
on The Jonas Knox Show. Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back
in the Fox Sports Radio Zone. Radio live from the

(52:58):
tire rack dot Com studio. Olden Polonies kelvin Washington with you.
Olden Polonies won for him, came up live for me
on social media, reach out to us. There is this
called ska music or something like that. I say, all right, Sam,
kind of this is the English beat, but this is
like sky genre, right and that was that's that.

Speaker 3 (53:17):
It's like that.

Speaker 7 (53:18):
Yeah, a little horn section, little kind of the guitarzl
choppy there mirror in the bathroom by the English beat.

Speaker 2 (53:22):
Yeah, shout out to them. The least singer died a
few years years ago. Oh no, but now really shout
out to him now. Yeah, I'm gonna stop nowfoar. I
say something crazy, all right before we actually get into
what I wanted to go back to the Heat and
Jimmy Butler in this run they've had and if they
messed around Nicola Jokic, I would say, twisted and ain't

(53:43):
gonna wasn't himself not got hurt, hurt. I would never
want to wish that on anybody. But you know, if
he just something happened, he wasn't himself. Uh, And the
Heat when I want to talk about what that be
one of the more least talented teams we've had quite
some time Before I get to that, though, I want
to get to real quick.

Speaker 3 (53:58):
We were talking off fair little Victor Webbin Yama. That's it.

Speaker 2 (54:03):
Seven foot twelve and I know that's not even the things,
but he's like whatever he is. We spend ten feet eight.
Everyone is excited. He's a new savior of San Antonio.
Greg Papovich and the crew been taking for years to
get this kid. Isn't it ironic that the team has
had some of the better French players in the last

(54:23):
couple of decades. Land this kid, this French kid. Your
thoughts on him as a former big in the league,
and again the old x NBA guys are Hayden, No,
I'm not. I just do my homework, Okay. I don't

(54:44):
get caught up in the moment. You know, I'm not
a prisoner of the moment because I'm not going to
be buying all this or he's the greatest talent ever.
You ain't even seen him touch with Wilson basketball, and
all of a sudden he's the greatest even No, he's
a young man with a lot of skill sets and
a lot of talent and a lot of length. But

(55:06):
I've watched this kid play, and I've seen this already.
I've seen Bowl Bowl, I've seen Chet Holmgren, I've seen
Ralph Samson, Porzingo, I've seen Porzingis. I've seen this movie,
and so to me, one of the things that really
stood out for me was when he was playing against
Kenneth Lofton, who was a two way player with the

(55:28):
Memphis Grizzlies. Kenneth Lofton was destroying this kid, I mean destroyed.
So I'm saying to myself, Okay, so if Kenny Laughton's
doing this, what's Gianni's joker? Embid, what are those guys
gonna do?

Speaker 3 (55:41):
Yes, I'm sure he's gonna have some success because san
Antonio is good on development. They are. But at the
same time, let's hold the hyperbole of Oh my god,
he's the greatest thing since sliced bread. He's gonna supersed
Lebron James. He's gonna stop that. We need to really

(56:01):
stop with all this.

Speaker 2 (56:03):
Listen, the one thing I'm extraordinarily tired of is the
whole this person's the next Lebron. Because I was telling
you when you say that, It's like, do you know
what you're encompassing when you say that? Like, we already
did it with Jordan for too much? Right the Vince
Carter Harrold Mine, We're just picking up players this next one.
I'm like, all right, settled down, and now for somebody
to be the next let I'm like, first of all,
you're saying this person has to be amazing for twenty

(56:25):
straight years, the bat off right out the gate amazing.
You're saying that this player is capable of taking I
don't want to disrespect and call them bumbs, but taking
guys who your teams that are less than and taking
them not just to the playoffs, not just to a
conference final, but taking them to the finals and in
some cases even winning with guys.

Speaker 3 (56:45):
You're like, uh, how they do that?

Speaker 2 (56:47):
Like you're saying a whole lot. So I don't like
how we continue to set guys up. And I'll even
be critical of somebody who I'm a massive fan of
the person, the player everything. Magic Johnson remember when he
was when the Lakers drafted DiAngelo Russell and they draft
the lines of Bard.

Speaker 4 (57:01):
He's like, Oh, they're gonna replace my stats and.

Speaker 3 (57:04):
Be all this.

Speaker 4 (57:05):
I'm like, man, Magic, do you know how good you are?

Speaker 2 (57:07):
Like, let's just settle down saying that somebody's about to
be the next you and just replace all your stats,
Like let's stop building these guys up, especially old. Then
you can attest to this. It's a different era where
guys are coming in incredibly young. They don't know how
to play the game. They're talented, they've got their own
personal trainers nowadays, and they're coming in with maybe a

(57:28):
better handle, coming in with maybe a better form of
a shot, but they don't know how to play basketball yet.

Speaker 4 (57:33):
They don't know how to win yet.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
But I do know there's so thirty games over there
in one season, he's about to play three times that
that's a great point. So it's absurd when we make
these statements. And I don't know if it's coming from
the scouts, if it's coming from media, from who, but
it's like people need to relax and all this stuff, okay,
and you're putting so much undue pressure on the kid. Yes,

(57:57):
I'm the only thing I can say is I have
not seen anybody seven five, seven six, okay do what
he's doing, only because he's seven five I've seen it
done at seven four. I've seen it done at seven three,
So that's it. Chet Homgrim is only an inch or

(58:17):
two shorter than him, and he handles, he shoots threes.
That's what I'm saying. They tried to make bow bowl
that guy. Even Ralph Sampson when he was coming out,
Oh no, we're not gonna let you handle the ball.
And he was way ahead of his time. He could
handle the ball and shoot him out side, but they
said no, getting the low pluck and play post up basketball.

(58:38):
And so again I wish the young man well, but
let's not get carried away.

Speaker 2 (58:44):
One thing I think is getting you could say carried away,
is we're starting to have the stars from around the
world are taking over the NBA. And there's always been
the case where the NBA has had, you know, stars
from different countries.

Speaker 3 (58:54):
That's just one of the it's been more of a
it's not like the.

Speaker 2 (58:56):
NFL where everybody's just about American born like ninety eight
point right exactly, probably more higher than that. But you know,
now you look at it, I mean, you starting if
Victor just the hype alone, let's say he never even
lives up to but just the hype alone, he's gonna
be one of the more talked about players next year.

Speaker 3 (59:12):
And he is.

Speaker 2 (59:13):
You know, he got a French player, you got Serbian,
you got with with jok and and obviously Luca and
and embiid Is. You know, obviously he played some college
here in book Cameroon.

Speaker 3 (59:25):
I mean, you get.

Speaker 2 (59:26):
Yannis Greece definitely the world stage. I mean you can
go back.

Speaker 3 (59:31):
I mean technically was born overseas. Yeah, technically technically, Ben
Simmons stress, we know we talk about guys in the NBA. Oh,
then we talked about guys who are in the NBA.
You mean guys that are playing and I don't know
they're gonna be in bro I don't even know. But yeah,

(59:52):
you got who else is it's a couple of Canadian Andrew,
those guys, Pascal, you have all the guys from Africa.
So it's but you know who you got to give
credit to for that?

Speaker 4 (01:00:04):
The Dream Team?

Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
Oh, I mean they were already there. Hubie Brown, well,
what else?

Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
I mean, he's the bible of Hubie Brown was going
overseas teaching fundamentals and they embraced it. That's why they
much more adapt now at fundamentally because the knock on
the European players where they weren't physically tough. They were
soft and to me and I used to be thinking

(01:00:32):
to myself, you know how much of a trash statement
that is? Right, these guys are dodging missiles, that's a
great point on a regular basis ole dodging bullets, missiles.

Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
Launched at their homes and they're not tough. I was like,
come on, I never bought into all that stuff. And
now they coming in starting to play professional at thirteen
and fourteen years old, so they ready to go at sixteen. Yeah,
so that's why I'm saying, like with when but Yama
he started playing professional young? I get that, but we

(01:01:08):
just got to hold up on the extras.

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
We were putting a little extra, little chip on the
little dip on the chippy right now, because again, he's
the next Lebron, He's the next time.

Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
I'm like, all right, no, the greatest to ever come
into the league ever, is what they're saying.

Speaker 4 (01:01:24):
Yeah, they're getting carried away with that, ever, and that
to be you, I know, he's just sitting the hello.

Speaker 3 (01:01:30):
I mean, not like we didn't have a guy changed
all of college basketball in Kareem, I mean lu Al Sindor,
Like we didn't have the greatest champion ever in Bill Russell,
the greatest pomp upon athlete in world, Chamblain, the greatest
marketing entity ever, Michael Jordan, like we've never had that,
the greatest come out of high school play ever Lebron James.

Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
I don't even the hype with Victor Women. I don't
even feel like it's surpassed Zion, Remember, like, who doesn't
even surpass.

Speaker 4 (01:02:01):
Like I'm like everybody's like he's the most talking about prospect.
I'm like, nah, I feel like Zion I remember, Like
That's what I mean.

Speaker 3 (01:02:08):
So I'm like, I gotta sit down with the other.
This another one that's probably never gonna play again. My goodness.

Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
He somehows maybe not escaping it now, but it's getting
to the point of a Zaya like we we're gonna
need you to come on out here and play and perform.

Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
Brother, Uh, I gotta say go ahead. The funniest thing
was what Charles Barkley said. What did he say acting
like they don't have restaurants in Portland when they sent
him up the true but but that Cajun food. It
does a man has a thing about eating. That's what
needs to be addressed first and foremost. I mean, you

(01:02:43):
put me down in New Orleans. I'm a whole different
player too. I get that me too, man, But at
some point in time, what's more important the eating or
your career? Don't ask me right now? Oh today? Oh?
Then you see what I got sitting right here. I'm hungry.

Speaker 4 (01:02:59):
I ain't got but a couple of crackers. Don't ask
me right now.

Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
That's a bad question to ask me right now because
I'm like, my priorities will be all out of.

Speaker 3 (01:03:06):
Ryan Flake, tell us what's training?

Speaker 2 (01:03:07):
So we come back and talk about are the Heat
possibly the least talent team to be in Fine?

Speaker 6 (01:03:12):
You got it, Kelvin and old and so speaking of
the Heat. Actually, just moments ago, their head coach Eric
Spolstra was talking to the media and was asked about
the status or we're going to know about Tyler Herrow.
Will he be back in time for tomorrow in game
two dealing with that injury to his right hand, and
Spolster said the status has not changed yet and he will.

Speaker 8 (01:03:30):
Let everybody know by tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (01:03:32):
So nothing that is no news news if you want
to categorize it as that as the team looks to
have Hero back in the lineup after did not get
him and his services for Game one and that win
for the Nuggets over the Heat one to four to
ninety three in Denver, NBA. For Julius Randall had surgery
on his left ankle. The team says that don't or

(01:03:52):
it's not going to affect his presence for the knickt
training camp coming up in the fall. Former Yukon head
coach Kevin Ollie, who I was a former NBA player,
won the national title as the coach for the Huskies
in twenty fourteen, is going to be joining the.

Speaker 8 (01:04:06):
Nets coaching staff.

Speaker 6 (01:04:08):
Josh Erris, who agreed on a deal to purchase the
Washington Commanders about a month ago, hoping that this is
the next step in getting the team under his ownership.
He's going to be meeting, according to ESPN, with the
NFL Finance Committee on Wednesday, which then could open the
door to a final vote by NFL owners that could
then sign off on this transaction. Game one of the

(01:04:30):
Stanley Cup Final getting underway tonight in Vegas. Puck will
be dropping at eight pm Eastern time. The Vegas Golden Night,
second time they've been in the Stanley Cup Final as
they take on the Florida Panthers in the best of
seven series.

Speaker 8 (01:04:42):
Major League Baseball, two games of note are going on
right now.

Speaker 6 (01:04:46):
The Red Sox have scored seven unanswered and they have
taken a lead at home against the Race seven to
four in the top of the seventh in a battle
out of the Al East. And the Tigers in a
White Sox just wrapped up the fifth and the White
Sox you're owning a one to nothing lead. Lastly, guys,
we do have some golf going on, and it is
the Memorial Tournament third round taking place in Dublin, Ohio.

(01:05:10):
And the leader right now is and we're looking through
it right now as we speak. We do have a
DECKI Matziyama as real leader guest there It is nine under.
He's got a two shot edge and Patrick Cantlay is
two shots behind as they're finishing up that front nine.

Speaker 8 (01:05:28):
With that, let's get it back to Kelvin Washington. Olden Police.
Maybe they're good golfers. You guys play, yes, I do.

Speaker 2 (01:05:37):
Man, you can tell, like which one of us is
runn around a six year old a four year old
intew I'm over here, like, really, tell me more.

Speaker 3 (01:05:43):
I love golf. Oh, a bad day on the course
is still better than any day I could have.

Speaker 4 (01:05:49):
Honestly, Brian, that's a great question.

Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
I've been sitting next to this man for an hour
and a half and the joy in his eyes when
you just brought up golf.

Speaker 4 (01:05:57):
I have not seen this entire time.

Speaker 2 (01:05:59):
To you, brother, Oh my god, it's okay. When did
you get this? This was just during the playing days. Yeah,
I was playing.

Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
We used to do trips, you know, player trips for
when you were like player reps and all that stuff.
I became player rep my rookie year just to get
a free trip. That's how it started. And I kind
of liked and then I care, and so we went.
We went in Hawaii, and so these guys are talking about, Yeah, man,

(01:06:28):
we're playing this golf course called Kapalua. I ain't know
nothing about. I know, Capallua being one of the best
golf courses ever. They're like, come on, come hang out
with us. I was like, okay, I just went to
hang out and next thing I know, they give me
a set of clubs. Hey man, just to have it
you know, try. I'm horrible first time. I don't know
I play, and the clubs aren't even mine. So I'm

(01:06:50):
just whacking away, whacking away, and then I remember the
last hole. I'm so frustrated. The last hole. I hit
a good drive and my second shot, which was a fire,
and I put in the hole. Oh, looked ever since,
ever since I went, I came home. But clubs got lessons.

(01:07:11):
Oh it's been that way since. Man. That was what
in nineteen ninety four, ninety five, somewhere around there. Oh.

Speaker 4 (01:07:20):
I want to love the game, man. I just the
way my life is set up, the way my bank accounts.

Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
I kept having kids, and then the wife decided to
keep being ambitious. And I've been in there a lot
of school and all that, and I'm just brother, ain't
got time. And so I get out there and I
have an instructor. Shout to my coach Mike, and he's always,
you know, like, all right, man, you gotta get you
outed with more. You gotta making a progress, but you
got to get out there and put it to performance.
You gotta practice, you gotta. And I'm like, bro, I'll

(01:07:49):
just see you in three months. It's the greatest thing
you can play. I swear to you because it teaches
you about life. Oh look at that. I thought basketball
taught me about Like I used to say. You take
me on the coach, put me on the court with
any human and I'll tell you what the type of
person they are by how they play.

Speaker 3 (01:08:03):
No golf now, because you've gotta be honest. You can't cheat,
that is true, Okay. Left is right, right is left,
up is down, down is up. Yeah, weather comes into play. True,
your emotions, physical, mental, everything. Man, it's all encompassing. It
is absurd how this relates to life. So here's the thing, though.

(01:08:26):
You know I told you I'm like a practicing entertainment
lawyer just through my wife. I might as well just
be your agent and get you on the golf channel. Bro,
get me on.

Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
I mean you the joy that it just came you
right now telling these people man, but you know they
don't want to listen to me. Now we have to
get a brother on there. Hey, I hate do we
talked about earlier. If you make any professional league, you
have the utmost respect for me because all of us
grew up being kids, and I'm gonna play baseball, basketball, bowling, golf,
whatever it is.

Speaker 3 (01:08:53):
I want to be a pro.

Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
And obviously ninety nine percent of us don't do it.
And then the great fortunate like yourself, who do you
know the most respect. But there are certain times where
you can say that team is just not particularly the
most talented team, or have the most talent on the team,
or you know, you got guys that are all stars,
all the NBA caliber, And you look at this Heat
team and it is actually an amazing feat to just

(01:09:16):
simply be there.

Speaker 1 (01:09:17):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:09:17):
They play very well, they're in a great system, you
have a great coach, they have a great president of
basketball operation, even a great owner over down there in Miami.
But you look at this roster and you're like, man,
it is a bit underwhelming. Yes it is, and you
gotta give credit. I look at this team. Jimmy Butler,
by the way, game one not great, thirteen seven and
seven Bam out of BAYU play well twenty six thirteen.

(01:09:39):
He's gonna have to play well because the way if
you watch the game, they're sagging off of him.

Speaker 4 (01:09:44):
Yeah, he's gonna have to make shots. He's gonna have
to make the joker shot.

Speaker 3 (01:09:47):
Well, he played really well that game.

Speaker 2 (01:09:49):
But After that, you got gay Vincent nineteen and Highsmith
of eighteen, but three from Martin zero from Strus Kyle Lowry,
I mean, he gave you eleven. That's a BYuT what
you need from him. But you got Cody Zeller zero.
You didn't get anything from Kevin Love and just Duncan
Robinson gave you three. He didn't play, but that's what
I mean, he didn't even play. You got Duncan Robinson
only giving you three. This team does not beat you

(01:10:11):
over the head with talent, and if they're able to
even win two games, it's kind of like, that's kind
of and I know they would hate to say it
because I'm sure they have pride. They're they're looking at us.
We're here, We're here for a reason.

Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
But man, you remember the two thousand and three, two
thousand and four Detroit Pistons.

Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
Now, of course I remember, being the biggest fan of them.
But I'm watching with a little hesitation where you're going
with this.

Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
No, I'm just saying you talk about teams that now, No,
chaun c. Billups was damnar out the league.

Speaker 4 (01:10:41):
Agreed until the year prior, Man.

Speaker 3 (01:10:44):
Wallace was damnar out the league. Remember he was trash,
and I agree, but Rip was a real player. Rip
was what they only played. So between Rip Hamilton and
Jimmy bra Wallace. Okay, mister hothead, Okay, I'll give you that. Okay,

(01:11:05):
don't do that.

Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
Come on, they say they were the best five alive,
and I don't know if I can think of a
better starting five.

Speaker 3 (01:11:12):
The team they beat, come on, now fall Hall of Famous.

Speaker 4 (01:11:19):
Yes, and they got destroyed. That you know, it's funny.

Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
I look at that Pistons team similarly to the Denver
Nuggets and that it's about putting all of them in
their prime. No, obviously didn't have a yo kitsch. But
what I mean is Rip found his lane, found what
he was great at. Larry Brown made the absolute best
version of Chauncey Billups as a point guard. Rashid was
playing some of his best just you know, defensively and

(01:11:42):
understanding the system. Ben Wallace obviously at his apex like
they were the prime. It's not that they were the
overly the most talented. They had a way of playing
and they were all the but they were more nug
I don't think so. Okay, if Jimmy Butler is the
the Rip or the then that Heat team does this man,

(01:12:03):
bam Adebayo is way better than freaking Ben Wallace. Come on,
oh my lord, offensively, but that doesn't mean anything if
you're not offensively. Yes, for sure, Bambio is better offensively,
but bam out of Bayu is nowhere near as great
or has the impact that Ben Wallace had on the game.

Speaker 3 (01:12:22):
You know that he should.

Speaker 4 (01:12:25):
Now now we can argue that, I will. I mean,
we can agree on that.

Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
And that's where Miami has issues and that's where Boston
has issues. A lot of these guys don't play till
their full potentials. They are relying on what they're hearing,
Oh you're an All Star, You're this, you're that, Oh
you're the man, instead of just going out there and playing.
That was the difference. Bean Wallace was still trying to
earn his keep, and a lot of these young guys

(01:12:50):
now it's like I'm in the MB, I'm in All Star,
I'm making stupid money. I've made it, so now I
don't have to work anymore, and and you're gonna have
teams and the Dema Nuggets. They're like, well, we've made it,
we have money. We all stars. With defensive you know
with MVPs, but we're still working hard, still hungry. We're

(01:13:13):
still hungry again.

Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
And that's why I think when you watch this Nuggets team,
you're realizing, Man, you ran up on a team where
you have an MVP caliber player, probably an MVP caliber
for the next five years in his prime.

Speaker 4 (01:13:25):
Jamal Murray coming back for injury in his prime.

Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
Aaron Gordon playing the best basketball we've ever seen KCP,
a champion knows how exactly what to do, still in
his prime for another couple of years. Bruce Brown, and
it's probably all these guys in their prime hungry, some
of them counted out and down it.

Speaker 4 (01:13:42):
I'm like, man, it's gonna be a very difficult team
to beat.

Speaker 3 (01:13:45):
I like that young boy, Christian Brown. They got him
just sitting on the bench. I like him. He coming
in and ready to dunk on somebody. I like him. Man,
he comes in, he's he's such a talent, you know.
And that's the beauty of it. A lot of these guys,
you know, you know these players because they played in college.

Speaker 2 (01:14:03):
Yeah, so you what it's college, Yeah, because you don't
remember the relationship.

Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
It ain't the same no more. Yeah, So it's like
I get to know you and so, and you learn
how to play the game and so to me, Man,
I love what they do and so, and it's a
copycat league. Watch everybody's going to try to get like
the Denver Nuts. Everybody tried with the Warriors. Oh boy,

(01:14:29):
did what they did? We had this, but now watch
the big man's gonna come back because.

Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
Of well, let me let me ask you this, man,
I mean, my gosh, are you excited for the thirty
for thirty when it talks about.

Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
He came in. He's the greatest shooter.

Speaker 4 (01:14:42):
We've ever seen, Champion MVB, but he also.

Speaker 3 (01:14:48):
Ruined the games.

Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
What if I told you that you can be the
best shooter and also be responsible for the poor basketball
we see?

Speaker 3 (01:14:56):
Now Steph didn't do it, not, but you know what
I mean thinking that they were.

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
Step my gosh, between Steph Curry doing it in such
a fashionable way and then obviously Klay Thompson the splash
brother splash he did and it took her credit Kenny
Smith and not on th team today, I say, a
separate listen. And then you have the analytics that combination
was deadly and detrimental to our game. Man, I said
our game like I played our game, but the game

(01:15:25):
that I love hold it. It's all game like Steph
made everybody. If you and you you you've seen these
young players, if you go do I called. I coached
my daughter's team. She was five at the time. She's
six and a half. Now, kids who are literally six
are coming down jacking two steps past half court.

Speaker 3 (01:15:44):
And I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. All day. I'm like,
you barely can't even reach the ring.

Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
Right, and they're I mean the well every bit of
their might swinging yeah, And I'm like, oh my god.
So I don't I blame Steph tongue in cheek, but
I'm just saying, like, between him and all of a
sudden the analytics, it hurt the game. But you are
gonna play coach slash GM But mainly coach. You're gonna
sell me on how the Heat can win Game two

(01:16:09):
if at all there's a chance you're gonna break that
down for us next again, we of course, uh we're here.
Fox Sports Radio, Olden Polonies, Olden Polonies won ktub live
for myself on social media. Fox Sports Radio. I wanna
let the beat bill. There you go let me tell
you don't know about music. This is this is music

(01:16:29):

Speaker 3 (01:16:30):
This is some music.

Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
Jonas Knox Show, Kevin Washington, Olden Polonies one more time

Live for myself. Been a good day, hopefully've enjoyed the show,
running errands, taking care of whatever you do, and watching
little sports whatever it may be.

Speaker 4 (01:16:45):
Thank you for listening. We appreciate it. As always.

Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
This is the Fox Sports Radio Zone Radio Live from
the ti rack dot com studios. So we got the
are we doing the progressive player of the day at
the end of the show, when't we doing that?

Speaker 9 (01:16:59):
Truck out a pat and walking back and there's a
shot to left and deep headed towards the Dodger bullpen.
It's car, Bookie bench is on a tear. This is
the second home run of the night and the Dodgers
now have an eight to two lead.

Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
We really have to do that.

Speaker 4 (01:17:19):
My bad, I didn't mean, I mean I listen, I'm
just doing what's on the rundown here.

Speaker 3 (01:17:22):
We really had to replay that.

Speaker 2 (01:17:24):
Yes, that was a Dodgers Radio network right there. Brought
to you by God. Sorry, Olden, Yeah, you're the Yankee
Yankee guy that was brought to you by Progressive Insurance.
Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable. Get a multi policy
discount by combining your motorcycle, RV, boat, ATV and more
all your protection in one place. Bundle and save a
Progressive dot com. Yes, the Yankees got smacked up. Kershaw

(01:17:45):
Cursel got his first career win against the Yankees. By
the way, he's been around so long, you think he'd
have that. But he got his first career win against
the Yankees. Mookie Betts gets a couple of home runs.
Olden police is looking at me like I'm crazy, Like,
would you shut up about it? You got two more
chances to get a win. Uh, but coach me up
with heat. I don't want to skame one. We We
didn't look great. We fought hard, which is kind of

(01:18:08):
our makeup. Jimmy Butler only hits thirteen. You don't get
anything from a couple other players that you expected to
get things from. Bam was really the only really good
player of that game. What do we do, coach? How
do we even this thing up? It's not gonna happen.
First of all, Coach, you can't tell us that, Yeah, guys,

(01:18:29):
we just got sucked up. Man, We're not as good
as these guys. I don't want to give it up
because I want Denver to win, Okay, I want to
bring back the big guy.

Speaker 3 (01:18:38):
Yeah, you know, we'll tell me more about that thing.
At the same time, I do believe well knocking down shots.
You know, it's a fifty to fifty proposition. You know,
Strus had wide open shots did this, So I'm gonna
like just reinforce them. Hey you're shooter, keep shooting, you know.
But again, even if he makes these shots, I still
believe that Denver Shill some much better team because I

(01:19:01):
don't think they can defend Denver. That's the key. They
just can't defend them, I mean, and there's so many mismatches.

Speaker 2 (01:19:07):
I mean right now, obviously you're missing a guy who
can get you twenty a game in Tyler Hero. That's huge, right,
because sometimes heat historically the last seven eight years, they
go on these droughts where they can't really score. They'll
defend you well, but they can't score. Tyler, here is
a guy who can get a bucket in the system.

Speaker 3 (01:19:23):
Or on his own. Yeah, you need that, definitely. They
don't have that.

Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
But one thing Denver is doing and it does not
help if you're the heat having a guy who's seven
foot whatever Yokic is, who is just looking over the
defense finding the missman. Let's see, Oh Aaron Gordon has
a you know, a mouse in the house. Gay Vincent's
on him. Let's just dump it down to him and
he dunk on him. Oh okay, Jamal Murray, I noticed

(01:19:48):
last time they went under on the pick. All right, cool,
this time I'm just backdoor you. And then you know,
he's just like dissecting it. He's playing incredible basketball right now.
And again they're just in their primate hungry. But I
do think to your point, Heat, hit a few shots early,
hit a few big threes, get into it. It's still
gonna play hard and defensively, you never know when it
starts to you know, because that changes how I have

(01:20:09):
to defend you. Now, maybe they're over pursuing the defensive
on the three point line and they get some back cuts.
But Jimmy Butler, you said it earlier, Jimmy Butler can't
just play better and have like twenty two points Jimmy
Butler's gotta have like a thirty five point night, thirty
five to forty.

Speaker 3 (01:20:22):
And at the end of the day, it's just that
Denver is gonna win the cis whether it's a sweep,
a gentleman's sweep, a six seven, whatever the numbers are, seven,
it's gonna yeah, it's they gonna win. They just that
much better. Yeah, Denver is the obviously the better team.

Speaker 2 (01:20:37):
And what mainly interesting is gonna be, not to forecast
too far, but just will this team be a team
now that have a nice four or five year run.
Their two stars are in their primes and young. All right,
Fox Sports Radio, we're out of here. Enjoy the weekend.
