Mark Willard and former NFL offensive tackle Ephraim Salaam open the show with their reactions to Arch Manning's lackluster debut against Ohio State... Was it a bad game, or a bad sign? Is Ohio State the best team in the country? Then they get into the blockbuster NFL trade that sent Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers... Is all of the outrage toward Jerry Jones warranted? The guys also react in real time to Notre Dame vs. Miami, breaking down the action intermittently throughout the show! They weigh in on Alabama falling to unranked Florida State in their opener, debating whether Kalen DeBoer is in over his head as head coach of the Crimson Tide.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio rado.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh that's that different open, isn't it? Oh? Oh that's different?
Let me think why? Why why would we change the open?
What's he from? Help me?

Speaker 3 (00:15):
What's different? What's different this week? What's happening?

Speaker 4 (00:18):
I don't know. I mean the WNBA is coming to
a club? Good playoffs?

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Is that what he? I mean? Right?

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Why would they just suddenly, without even talking to you
or me, change.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
The name of the show. That's it's how do they
do that? It's time Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 3 (00:39):
Now it's I'm sorry Fox Football Sunday.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
They say, Ay, let's play Dog made We made you.
Come on, man, we.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Are broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Let me tell you a quick story.

Speaker 3 (00:54):
One of the hosts on our station ninety five to seven,
the game during the week, actually got a set got
upset at our producers because our producers broke into the
middle of their show and they hit what we have
Like most shows do a breaking news sounder, and it's
like it right, big deal. It's kind of like you
hit it when Micah Parsons gets dealt to the Packers,

(01:16):
for example. But this was a couple of days earlier,
and they broke into the show bang breaking news, and
the hosts were like, what, we don't even know what happened.
Go straight to the producer live, turn your mic on,
what's the story? And the producer says, Travis Kelce and
Taylor Swift are getting married, And immediately the hosts were
like you what are you breaking in for that? Like

(01:40):
Christoph McCaffrey got married and had a baby this offseason,
brock Purdy got married and and and had a baby
all within the last year and a half. I don't
hear anybody breaking into the middle of a show for that.
The reason I tell you the story from is name
value changes thing. Is it changes. I even texted my daughter,

(02:02):
she's sixteen. I texted her about you know whatever, hour
or two later when I found out, and all I
had to write was did you hear? And she just writes, oh, yeah,
we didn't even exchange what I was talking about. She
knew name value changes everything. And so allow me to
bring that to the young man who started his college

(02:23):
football career last night for the University of Texas.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
All I feel, and maybe this is just two.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Milk and cookies, e, but all I feel is compassion
because I don't know your name is arch Manning, bro
you got no shot, honestly, like you have no shot.
Almost you have the same chance to live up to

(02:50):
your hype as I had to win Powerball last night
one point one billion.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
I didn't win, Like this is I just.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
I don't know how he can meet discussion about being
the first pick in the NFL draft before you even
walk out there and play football at a place like
Texas and then lose your first game.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
Look, it's impossible to live up to the expectation. We've
been waiting for three years to see these young men play.
Coming out of Newman High School in New Orleans. He's
been the guy right preseason, Heisman favorite, preseason, first pick.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
In a draft.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
But what we do know is you have to go
out there and actually play. Now, does one game make
a career? Does one game make a player?

Speaker 2 (03:45):
No?

Speaker 4 (03:47):
And just to be clear, going on the road to
the Horseshoe yep against the defending national champions, I don't
care who you are. That's tough to do, hard to
make your first road start. So if you look at

(04:11):
their schedule moving forward in three weeks, we could be
having a completely different conversation.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
I'm sure we will.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
But just for the sake of right now, they go
to Ohio State, they lose by seven. Defense played extremely well.
Defense played extremely well. Now they could have taken the
road of playing Northeastern Chippewa State. Now they'll do that

(04:46):
next week and one seventy nine to three and throw
them for four hundred and fifty yards and six touchdowns,
and we'd be talking about he should leave.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Now.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
This is the reality of it. And you know, we've
been in this business a long time.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
That would be the reality if he played Northeastern Wichita State,
the ard barks and through for seven hundred yards. But
San Jose State comes to town, Then Utip comes to town,
then Sam Houston.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Sam Houston comes to town.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
That's three weeks of three hundred plus yards passing, multiple touchdowns,
and completion percentage upwards of sixty five to seventy percent.
Then the conversation is going to shift back to where
it was Prior's a tough task.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
But then you go to the swamp.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
Then you go to the swamp. Now you're in your now, look,
now you're in your bag. Now, Now you gotta flow.
You gotta rhythm, you gotta understanding of what it's gonna take.
Three home games in a row. You get your numbers up,
get your feel up, get your communication up. And now
you got a little mini gauntlet. Go to Florida, Oklahoma comes,

(06:15):
go to Kentucky, Go Now State, Mississippi State, George Vanderbilt, Georgia.
Now we get to see who Arch Manning is. It's
hard to see who this young man is in those circumstances. Now,
we would have all loved him to go out and
just scorch Ohio State, but not many teams are gonna

(06:35):
be able to do that this year. Not many teams
are gona be able to beat Ohio State at home.
That's the bottom line. Now, maybe it's great for Texas
for them not to have that number one ranking anymore.
So now they can just focus on not living up
to some standard that was placed on them prior to
the season and just get better.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Maybe well I was we were all texting earlier today
because Charlie Woods hit a made a hole of one.
Charlie Woods made a hole of one, and it made
immediately made me think of Arch Manning and vice versa.
And that's kind of what I'm getting at that name value,

(07:19):
Like you know what, I've never even checked in on
and like, my bad if I don't, like, you.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Know, I missed something.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
But do you remember years ago when Stephanie Graff and
Andre Agassi had a kid?

Speaker 2 (07:29):
Oh yeah, where's that kid? What happened?

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Because I had that kid to be the best tennis
player of all time?

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Young US Open champion ever? You know, we haven't, We don't.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
I'm noticed. Maybe he's in sales, you know what I mean.
I do know that.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
I know that I know that Lebron James actually forced
his organization to draft his son not that long ago.
We could bring Shador Sanders into this conversation when you
have this and they're all different. I get that they're
all different, But I do think there's a certain level

(08:11):
of name value where it becomes not a good thing.
It does not make it easier to go out there
and perform. I remember, Actually, there was a conversation once
upon a time, years ago I had with a guy
who goes by the name of Jerry Rice Junior, and
he told me, He's like, do you know how hard

(08:32):
it was to walk into any football room as you
walked to and he was a receiver. You walked in
and it was like, so you're the second best of
all time, right, that's your bar. Just walk out here
and just be unbelievable right away. Doesn't work out right, right,

(08:52):
it doesn't work that way. So, like, I don't know,
I don't know what you saw yesterday, And I know
it's not the first time we've watched him play football,
but like.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
It really is.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
It is, Yeah, this is the first time. It's like, Okay,
this is the deal. And I just think that anything
in life, when there's that much advanced hype. It's one
of the things that I've always said in favor of
Lebron James. I know he triggers a lot of people
in certain ways. One of the few times in sports

(09:23):
where I can say clearly massive hype and it was
met like that's like that does not usually go that
way because it's just it's too much. It's too much.
It's shoulders, it's a lot.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
It's a lot, and he has a lot on his shoulders.
And that's why Archie came out and said, hey, this
is a process. This isn't a one and done. We're
gonna be here, We're gonna get better to take that
pressure off of his grandson this first year of starting. Yep, right,

(10:03):
if things change and they end up playing in the
National Championship and he has a great year and he
is invited to New York for the Heisman, and we'll
revisit it. Yeah, but they tried to take that off
the table because that's an expectation. I mean, how do

(10:23):
you even how do how do you eat?

Speaker 2 (10:26):
How do you.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
Like?

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Let me add this somewhere along the road, we've decided
that being a quarterback prospect, the ebb and flow of
it is based on whether or not your team wins.
Oh my god, that's not what it's based on. That's
not what it's based on at all. I don't think like,
of course, being a winner is a part of your profile.

(10:51):
It's a part of what, like what people will attach
to you. But correct me if I'm wrong. I didn't
see Uncle Peyton winning in nowational championships so like in fact,
I remember the whole like, and it followed him into
the NFL. You can't win the big game and nobody
looks back on him that way anymore.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
Did Uncle Eli win one? A couple there was no
I'm about the national champion.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Oh yeah, no, god no, I mean I don't even know.
You know what kind of bowl games did they end
up in? You know, like so that's all like, it's
not like he I mean he threw it, threw a pick.
He didn't go out there.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
And embarrass No, no, no, no, he didn't by any strap.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
It was a lot.

Speaker 4 (11:38):
I mean, it was a lot going on. I mean
it's that was an intense situation to be in. And
I don't care what quarterback was in that situation on
the road, it would have been a tough, tough win.
Let alone a new quarterback, first time starting on the road.

(11:58):
It's tough. How does he bounce back? That's all I
want to see. That's all I want to see. How
does he bounce back? What's it? We'll figure it out.
Then this may be a two year project, which is fine.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
This is fine.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
I am looking at Peyton Manning's nineteen ninety seven game
log at Tennessee. I'm looking at his game log right now.
Do you know how many games that entire year Peyton
Manning didn't throw a pick? Two, nine, ten, eleven. He

(12:43):
played thirteen football games. What would you guess how many
times did he put up a zero in the I
int column once because I'm asking, you're giving me a
pretty intense answer, of course, but you're not far off
the answers three three, three times in thirteen games he

(13:05):
did not throw a pick. And in his final game
that year, they got their doors blown off by Nebraska forty.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Two to seventeen. So like he threw for one hundred
and thirty four yards in that game.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
So that's all I'm saying, Like, the evaluation of a
quarterback better go in much more depth than the box score.
A turnover here there right, who's your team around you?
What's the situation? And we're still my gosh, it's Week one.
We don't know who these teams are. Those stupid little

(13:42):
numbers that they stick next to all these teams are absurd.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
This week. I've never been able to stand it.

Speaker 3 (13:48):
It's the lamest thing ever makes expectations go through the roof.
W that's the number one team in the nation. No,
they're oh to oh, I don't even know if they're
any good at all all. Anyway, Like we can get
into what what you saw, what he looked like, but

(14:08):
I just think right now, the way the kid has
talked about that's that's set up for. Uh, that's set
up for pretty pretty rough rotten.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
Yeah, it is, it is. And all you gotta do
is just focus, don't just stop listening, don't you know,
just focus on the craft man. And he's got a shot.
Like I said, these next three weeks, he catapult right
back to the top.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
No doubt, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
What's the what's the old rule in college if you're
gonna lose, lose early, lose early, lose early.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
Well, now you know Ohio State approved you can lose
late too, So.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Well, yes, yes, some schools are allowed to just do
it whenever the hell they want.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
That's uh, that's.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Twelve of them get a shot.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
So yeah, all right, we're out of the gate.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
We are underway.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
We are in the final, the final Sunday without NFL.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
We are in.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Sort of the first slash second Sunday where we can
be reacting to college football, all kinds of fun for us.
What are we going to miss about summer sports? We'll
get into that a little bit later.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
We should probably talk about the Dallas Cowboys too.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
We should probably have a conversation about what took place
with them a few days ago, So that's what we'll do.

But right before it got here, Jay Jones went and.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
Did the darn thing. Didn't he? Oh Man, talk to me?
What was your reaction?

Speaker 4 (17:38):
I was, I literally was like WHOA.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Like.

Speaker 4 (17:44):
I was in the car and someone was like they
texted me WHOA.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
Cowboys?

Speaker 4 (17:56):
And I was like what. So I pulled over and
just open the sports appen the phone.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
Did you see other cars pulling over in front of you.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
With the right Yeah, everyone was merging over and I
was like, wow, huh uh huh. I'll be honest, I
didn't see that happening.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
Neither did I. I think.

Speaker 4 (18:26):
After hearing play on the fifth year option or leave,
I was like, ooh, this doesn't sound good. But I
still had like the benefit of the doubt for Jerry
getting it done. And you know, he came in, he
had the press conference and he lied to all of
us talking about they had been talking about this trade
since spring.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Oh God, that's not the truth. Wow. If that was
the truth, then yeah, then what was all the other stuff?

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Wow? If that was the truth. First of all, yes,
what was all the other stuff? But secondarily, if that
was the truth, boy, did you misplay this? Because if
you were thinking about doing this in spring, then do
it in spring.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
You would have gotten twice.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
As much, twice as much, which would have helped you
right now. Yep, it would help you right now.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
You could have.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Hold the hell the whole league hostin you did this
before the.

Speaker 4 (19:14):
Draft, And I said this a couple of weeks ago.
If they were going to trade him, the best time
to trade him was right before the draft. Of course,
of course, that is maximum value.

Speaker 2 (19:27):
You would have gotten an unbelievable haul.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
You would have been able to get cost controlled players
right away that could have been in camp this August. Now,
now you've got two future firsts. And oh, by the way,
it is highly likely they're not even going to be.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
They won't be very high. They won't be very high.
Green Bay is gonna be a monster this year.

Speaker 2 (19:51):
That'll help. That'll that'll cook.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Now I'm still out on on Jordan Love.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
Yeah, I was kind of down on green Bay this year.
I was too like yeah, Now I'm like, huh.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
It's a generational player, yeah, yeah, immediately immediately makes you
a better team. So whenever that happens, whether it be
offense or defense, whenever you get a guy that's not
getting a quarterback, it's I getting a quarterback. Yeah, it
instantly changes what you can do. I know Gary is like,
oh my gosh, yes, please.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Yes please.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
I had so many questions about this or or things
where a call out is necessary, and I know that
this is not the most important one, but I don't
know why I can't get it out of my head
that Jerry Jones held a press conference the next day

(20:52):
and kept referring to him as Michael.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Yeah. I mean, it's just blatant disrespect. Well, it's it's
respect married with.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
The facts that you need if you're the Dallas Cowboys.
That Jerry should not be involved in this anymore. Yeah,
that's just that's an old person. That's a really, really
old person. And this is not I'm not being agist.

(21:26):
I think I think my dad and Jerry Jones were
born a month apart. And I'll look my dad right
in the eye and let him know you're not firing on.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
All the same cylinders anymore.

Speaker 3 (21:39):
I love you, You're awesome, you got it together, but
I'm not letting you run the show anymore. No, because
it's all done slowed down and things are a little harder,
and that's what happens. And the fact that, I mean
he's already the most hands on or meddling owner in

(22:00):
the entire sport.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
Especially when you start referring to negotiating tactics that happened
three four decades ago. Right, well, this is how deals
get done. Huh what?

Speaker 2 (22:14):
Or not? When? Right? When?

Speaker 3 (22:18):
Is?

Speaker 4 (22:18):
What are you talking about? You can't negotiate with a
player if they have an agent, no matter what you
want to do, and then discredit the agent and ignore
him and say, hey, we had a deal, get on
board or not?

Speaker 3 (22:34):
No, yeah, and then share publicly when the agent tells
you to get the bleep off the phone. You know
that's like I I that's this whole thing looked to me,
and I get it. Look, if you are eighty something
years old and a billionaire and you want to say

(22:54):
that if I've reached a point in my life, I
don't give a rip. What the hell anybody else says
I run this show highway or highway.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
Well, he gets the right to do that, he definitely does.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Yeah, the right. But if that's how you want to
do it, then.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
Hey, you're gonna get what you get and and and
and b. Don't don't be mad if the rest of
the world doesn't want to play by your rules.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
You know whose rules I don't want to play by?
Who's that? Steve? Say? Yeah, got some good rules? Hi, Steve.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
Getting salutations there and I cannot be with you enough
in spirit saying guys, it's how ball season because the
NFL's regular season opener is Thursday already, people.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Oh my god, and and and by the way, a
week from right now, Like are we are any of
us going to even talk or are we just gonna
be like, hey, everybody in radio land, Josh Allen's playing
Lamar Jackson. Shut up, just shut up and watch with us.

Speaker 5 (24:02):
It is September already tomorrow, on Thursday, September fourth, Dallas
at Philadelphia, and the Dallas Cowboys gave a four year extension.
Two yeah, defensive back to Ron Blank gets an extension
today they do hand those out tighty and got what
also this summer, So there you go. We do have
a top ten college football matchup going on right now
at tenth rank Miami. The Hurricanes have just taken the

(24:24):
lead on number six Notre Dames seven to nothing early
in the second quarter. Freshman receiver Malachi Tony with the
touchdown catch. He has three receptions fifty two yards. Carson
Beck at quarterback for Miami. He tossed that one earlier.
Miami had lined up for a short field goal botched
the snap and hold and never got the kickoff. Meanwhile,
Notre Dame has had a fumble. The game was scoreless

(24:45):
until literally just a couple of minutes ago, seven to
nothing Miami, early second quarter. Right now, there was a
game in Atlanta earlier today. In fact, there was one
there yesterday. Today's win went to thirteenth ranks South Carolina
twenty four to eleven over Virginia Tech, which did not
score a TD today, it had a safety and three
field goals and through two interceptions. As for Major League Baseball,

(25:07):
the Sunday night games at Philadelphia bottom of the fifth,
the Phills are leading one nothing over the Atlanta Braves.
Among the earlier contests, the Dodgers won five to four
over Arizona on a walk off solo homer by Will Smith,
and in Minnesota, Joe Ryan thirteen and seven got the
win against San Diego seven to the final. Boston beat
Pittsburgh five to two. A Friday, Walker Bueller X Dodger

(25:30):
pitcher was cut by Boston today. He's reportedly agreed to
a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. The Yankees
were in action but losing three to two. That's the
final at the White Sox. Even though Aaron Judge hit
his forty third home run of the season, Colorado beat
the Cubs six to five. Jacob de Grom got the
win for Texas nine to six at the A's. Miami

(25:51):
won at the Mets five to one. The loss to
the slumping CODEI Sega Toronto over Milwaukee eight to four.
The US opens going on in New York. Number four
seed Kapagoula won a fourth round match, but fellow American
Taylor Townsend was eliminated. Men's number two Carlos Alcarez advanced.
There are two WNBA games tonight. Joseph Nugarden took the
IndyCar season finale at Nashville. NASCAR has its Southern five

(26:15):
hundred going right now. They're two and a half hours
in and Chase Brisco is in the league, Tyler Reddick
running second, Eric Jones is third, and gentlemen Luka Doncic
had a triple double today for Slovenia in a win
over Belgium at the EuroBasket Tournament eighty six sixty nine.
In a low scoring game, he had twenty six points,
ten rebounds and eleven assists. Apparently that's only the fourth

(26:38):
triple double at EuroBasket since ninety ninety five. Jannis Antenacumpo,
playing for Greece, still perfect in this tournament. He and
his team he had twenty seven points as they routed
the country of Georgia ninety four to fifty three. By
the way, it had been a first good first couple
of games for Luca for Slovena, even though they lost
to Poland and to Franz he scored thirty four and

(27:00):
he scored thirty nine and then triple double today back
to you.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Okay, by the way, was this today or yesterday?

Speaker 3 (27:09):
This this Luca against the French captain thing with the
bucket at the end.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
Do you know France played somebody else today? No Frans
played Israel today.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
So okay, yeah, so either this was yesterday or I'm
getting some sort of you know, AI generated.

Speaker 5 (27:25):
Videos like the Olympics, where you know, you score till
the end because of the tie breakers.

Speaker 3 (27:31):
So like I think that France is up, like say
by about nine on Luca's team in the closing seconds
and the point guard's got the ball and Luca just
kind of goes over and DAPs the kid up gives
him a high five, like good game, but the clock
is still taking down. So then Luca does that and

(27:52):
starts to walk off the court along with his teammates.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
And then the dude took off and went laid the ball.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
In and everybody got all upset at him, and he's like, hey,
margin to victory matters, don't make up the rule. That's
your fault for shaking my hand with eight seconds on
the clock.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
And I was like, oh hey, and then I was
like I think I agree with him. Yeah, Like I'm not.
I never get bothered. Eph did you get bothered by this?

Speaker 3 (28:18):
People showing people up at like at the professional level.
I'm just like, if you want the game to stop,
then you have to stop. You just have to say
game over and leave. Other than that, I'm like, yeah, like,
if there's time on.

Speaker 4 (28:35):
The clock, score yeah, I get it. I guess it's
a sportsmanship. If you're up by twenty and you're not
gonna go up and you know shoot and be up
by twenty two, you know, you just dribble it out,
get the turnover.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
The work is done. It's like AAU.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
If you're up by a lot in AAU, the last
two minutes, they just call the game.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
You're right, but like, I guess margin of victory matters
on some level.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Yeah, so run it out.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
Yeah, Like I'm down right like if margin of victory matters,
you know what if this was the NBA Cup and
I know nobody cares about that, but that matters there,
Like that could decide what's happening.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
So I'm like, go lay the ball in.

Speaker 8 (29:27):
By the way, I looked it up.

Speaker 5 (29:28):
Luca in his thirty nine points in that game you're
talking about yesterday, nineteen of twenty from the foul line
in the game and eight rebounds and ninuses basketball?

Speaker 2 (29:40):
What are we gonna do? What are we gonna do
with you? Basketball?

Speaker 3 (29:45):
With these with with with I mean, Luca is a
prime example of somebody who had just they just hunt
free throws.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
That's disappointing.

Speaker 8 (29:57):
Wasn't that Sean Camp in Karl Malone's career.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Yes, definitely Carl Malone.

Speaker 8 (30:02):
I mean it's a it's post position. It's a little different,
but totally it just fit.

Speaker 2 (30:07):
Is it me? Does it? Or does it feel a
little different? Now?

Speaker 4 (30:10):
Well, it is different. I mean you got the James Hardens,
you got Shake Guildris, that's part of the Shake guildress
freak that merchants.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Yeah so anyway, all right, thanks Steve, good stuff.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
As always, we'll be talking to Steve at the bottom
of every hour we're live in the Fox Sports Radio studios.
It is e from Salaam and Mark Willard. I like,
I'm not done with this Mica thing yet.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
Can we can we get into it? Oh? Yeah? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (30:40):
In football terms here like where the I'm so fascinated
And that's probably the wrong word, like taken aback by
the approach that the Dallas Cowboys have taken. Well it's
not just him. I mean go back to points that

(31:01):
you made a year ago, pretty pretty fair rumor that
I think has been confirmed. Derrick Henry wanted to be
a Cowboy and they're like, we can't afford you, Derrick Henry,
we can't afford you. And instead they made Doc Prescott

(31:23):
the highest paid player in the game. He remains that today,
by the way. And then ceedee lamb, I get it.
What are you gonna do about that? And then you
just decided to not have a running game. And now
they've decided to not have a pass rush. Good lord, right,
they may have they may be beaten by double digits

(31:44):
in five days.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
Well, they probably should. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's gonna be.
They're about a touchdown underdog.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
Yeah, I think I think it moved half a point
with the trade of micaeh. It was seven, now it's
seven and a half.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
NFL Week one.

Speaker 3 (32:09):
I mean, let's just get it up to the minute, right,
let's let's do this right now. I am saying the
Eagles as a seven and a half point favorite. Yep,
seven and a half point favorite. Yeah, six and a
half to about seven and a half on Thursday Night.
You like an Eagles cover, do you?

Speaker 2 (32:31):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (32:31):
Yeah, oh yeah, Sequon is gonna be okay, though, I
think Sakuan will be fine.

Speaker 4 (32:37):
Look, and it's not just the absence of Micah. It's
what taking that type of person out of the locker
room does for that locker room, right, Like Dak Prescott
was just saying, oh, it's gonna get done mm hmm,
and literally right after that it didn't. So when you

(32:59):
start are doing things like that, it adds like a
little ripple of fag in the locker room. The first
thing you started doing is that man, they tripping. What
are they doing? They tripping?

Speaker 3 (33:12):
Well, and here's how you know beyond the obvious, that
the Cowboys really screwed up.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
I want to bring up an article, a.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
Headline that I saw today about the Cowboys and Micah Parsons.
That to me is confirmation that the Cowboys completely screwed
this up, and to a degree they know it.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
They know it.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
We'll talk about that coming up next with you from
salam Mark Ward. This is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
You're listening No Fox Sports Radio, all right.

Speaker 3 (33:51):
These happened to be the Fox Sports Radio studios. They're
very happy studios. Today football is back.

Speaker 2 (33:56):
We're watching Miami and Notre Dame. Hopefully you're doing it
with us.

Speaker 3 (33:59):
Miami's seven to nothing and they're just under ten minutes
to play here in the first half, and Notre Dame
has the ball in.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Miami territory, so we'll keep an eye on that.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
Steve's gonna get you those details at the bottom of
every hour. Look, I want your opinion here, e because
you've been around this stuff. You've been in locker rooms
where there's contract negotiations going on, so I'm sure there's
all kinds of feelings.

Speaker 2 (34:27):
I'm not even calling this report erroneous.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
What grabs my attention is not whether or not it's factual,
it's whether or not it's public.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
That's what grabs my.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Attention because I always consume media with this thought in mind.
If we're reading it, it's because somebody wanted us to.
Somebody wants us to know these things. Because professional sports
teams can be airtight if they want to be We've
watched that repeatedly. Right, how about the greatest example of

(34:59):
all Luca on trade middle of the night. Nobody knew.
So if you want to be air tight, you can
be air tight. If it's on the Internet and social
media for us to read. Somebody wanted you to read it.
So as soon as the Michah trade goes down, you
could set your watch to this. And here is the article.

(35:19):
I found this particular one on cbssports dot com, but
it could have been anywhere.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Here's the headline. You're ready for it.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Yep, Michael Parson's reportedly viewed by Cowboys teammates as egotistical
and self centered.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Wow, there we go.

Speaker 3 (35:35):
Three two one smear campaign and that's exactly how it works.
Did the same city did it to Luca? Boston did
it to Raffie Devers? And now Dallas is going to
do it to Michah Parsons. And apparently the report comes

(35:56):
from Albert Breer. Albert is super smart, super dialed in.
I'm not saying again about whether or not it's true
or not, but somebody wanted Albert to say this. Now,
did he hear it from all? Did he have specific teammates?
They'd all just immediately called Albert, like, Albert, I got

(36:16):
to tell you something. I never liked Micah Parsons. Maybe,
but I doubt it. Here's the quote from Breer quote,
and he's referring to previous high level negotiations.

Speaker 2 (36:32):
Zach Martin, Ceedee Lamb, Dak Prescott.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
Martin, Lamb and Prescott are and were very popular in
the locker room. That's not the case with Parsons, who
has rankled teammates in different ways, seen by some as
egotistical and self centered. His podcast has created issues too
that go all the way up to quarterback Dac Prescott.

(36:57):
I didn't see Albert will report that before. Now why
is this being reported?

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Now? Wow? Mafia tactics there.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
You go to me and you tell me because you've
been around this stuff.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
But to me, that's what that like.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
Every big name who gets dealt you get the smear
campaign forty eight hours later.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
Well you have to, because you got to make it
seem like you were in the right. We did right
by our team because no one likes the guy, really
unconsonable man, No one like Michael Parsons.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
For real. You want to know what I want to
ask you?

Speaker 3 (37:43):
Do you even care if you how much you like
your teammates when they're that talented?

Speaker 4 (37:50):
No, No, I always said this, Yeah, you don't like
real talk. No, the real talk is I don't. You
don't always. You don't always like every your teammates, you
respect them. I don't have to like you to respect
you and what you bring to the team. That's a fact.

(38:13):
It's not kombay eye. It's too many personalities, too many
different you know, characteristics in the locker room. Great locker
rooms know how to separate the job from we're going
to hang out and if we're going to win a

(38:35):
Super Bowl. I don't have to be your best friend,
but I gotta believe that you're gonna put it all
on the line to help us. And that's the type
of player Michael Parsons was. So I didn't go to
everyone's house and have dinner. And there's some people in

(38:55):
my own positions that, you know, an offensive line that
I didn't like. I would that they want your job.
And it wasn't even about that. It was literally about
we're just different. Yeah, I don't want to go hunting.

Speaker 3 (39:15):
Yeah, it's like any other workplace, right, Yes, I mean
you know, all just go home like I mean, yeah,
you're not all you're not all going to be friends.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
And that's a big workplace. Y'all got a lot of
people in there.

Speaker 4 (39:28):
A lot of people, a lot of personalities, all of that.
I bet they thought he gave them an opportunity to win.
No matter what someone had to say, I bet they
felt like he gave them a better opportunity to win.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
I find out to be just very, very off putting.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
And to me, there's there's a reason not only that
it happens, but do you notice it happens after forty
eight hours. And the reason it happens to me after
forty eight hours is that a trade gets made and
then an organization realizes that all of the public is
making fun of them.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
All of the public is.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
Like, Jerry's a moron, Jerry's senile, Jerry's gone crazy. Even
Michael Irvin said prior to the trade, Jerry's not that crazy.

Speaker 2 (40:31):
He won't do that. Then he did that, and all
of that is out there.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
You put it in a cycle for a day and
then the organization goes we need to fight back. So
now Michael was a bad dude and nobody liked him.
Luca was fat and we thought that he would stay
that way or whatever. So not done with that at all.
The college game needs an update. We'll get NFL preview.

(40:58):
That's all coming up.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 3 (41:03):
Always love when you can say it's that time of
year and everybody knows exactly what we're talking about.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Now.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
I don't know where all of you are who are
listening to the sounds of our voices here in the
Fox Sports Radio studio. So this is probably not true everywhere,
but a little something happens in California often right when
the kids go back to school summer actually starts.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
It's about a billion degrees everywhere.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
In California right now, So I'm not really feeling football yet,
like you know what I mean. It does like it's
the football is not in the air, but it is
on the TV, so I'll take it. I'll take it
right now. Notre Dame tied this thing up. As you
just heard Steve say, seven seven with Miami. We're watching
that one. I do want to ask you this as

(41:49):
we get ready for what I find to be kind
of the best, the best part of the sports calendar.
I know there's a lot of opinions on that, but
to me, if football is not going and it doesn't
really count, but there's got to be something you miss
about summer sports wise?

Speaker 2 (42:05):
Anything?

Speaker 3 (42:08):
No, nothing, not not traveling all over the world with
your son Watson a play.

Speaker 4 (42:16):
No, No, you know, because it got out of it
got out of hand. Well, every weekend, I know, every weekend.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
No, no, every single weekend. No.

Speaker 3 (42:27):
I know you've you've you've done a wonderful job telling
stories about what's been going on every weekend. I know
it's a lot, But what about the beginning of summer?
Wasn't that fun at the start?

Speaker 2 (42:41):
Because it started? It started then too, Okay, it's a grind. Yeah,
it's a grind. Okay, just gonna say that.

Speaker 3 (42:50):
I mean, we had the NBA Finals, which was fun,
and you and I thought we were going to become
millionaires until Tyree Halliburton there and we had that soucker.
We had it, man, we had that sucker. Now we're
gonna have to go win this power ball thing. But anyway,
right there that I know, I know he was on

(43:13):
one too. It was it was about to go down, dude.
Game sevens are different. Game sevens are different. And yeah
it did. It did have that field, didn't it? Yes,
yes it did. It was like, ooh, he came out
on a mission, focused, ready to go. What about anything

(43:38):
in the baseball world. There's got to be something not
that baseball's done or going away. It does it takes
a back seat obviously.

Speaker 4 (43:47):
Oh yeah, I'll tell you what that that Dodger's Padre
series was was was amazing, just amazing. So yeah, and
when when it comes to something like that, okay, but no, man,
everybody just buying time to the NFL starts to get

(44:07):
well yeah, okay, And now, look I liked I like
not getting up on the weekday at seven am m
and dropping them off at school and like, look I
miss that. I love that. Sure, But then on the
flip side of that, there were several eight am AAU games.

Speaker 3 (44:31):
Oh yeah, you know you notice that somebody's getting up
for something.

Speaker 2 (44:36):
Yes, y'all got an animal with that house. Yeah, we
got little baby dog. Dog doesn't get you up. Dog
gets us up. Dog gets you up. That's what some's
gonna get you up. Dog gets us up? What times
the dog get you up? Man?

Speaker 4 (44:52):
So I put it. I put the onus of the
dog on the fourteen year old. He wanted the dog.
You have the dog, right, you take care of the dog.
Dog starts barking. I don't care if you're sleeping. I'm
taking care of the dog.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
You're up. Yeah, how's that going.

Speaker 3 (45:13):
By the way, because every parent ever has had that
exact same conversation that you had, it doesn't usually work.

Speaker 4 (45:20):
First of all, my fourteen year old is growing at
a rate that is out of control.

Speaker 3 (45:30):
Well, he's the son of an offensive lineman. I don't
know if you know.

Speaker 4 (45:34):
That it's out of control.

Speaker 2 (45:36):
Though, yes, so were you once upon a time.

Speaker 4 (45:40):
It's to the point where my wife is five eleven
and and.

Speaker 2 (45:53):
So she's tall too.

Speaker 4 (45:54):
In may mother's day she was taller than him. Okay,
she is not by a mile, and now she is
not by like three inches.

Speaker 2 (46:12):
I get it, dude, I get it, dude. I got
a son who's six' five yeah, five.

Speaker 4 (46:17):
Yep how old is?

Speaker 6 (46:19):
He?

Speaker 2 (46:19):
Eighteen? Yeah so yeah, older but it's been six or
five for a minute. Too.

Speaker 4 (46:25):
Yeah so this is one of those, situations LIKE i,
mean and they non stop, eating non stop, eating and
it's it's it's good that they're back at. School, hey

(46:46):
let's somebody else watch you all. Day but it's been a,
LOOK i don't want to be up, here. Boohoo and
it's been a great summer to. Kids the kids are,
phenomenal phenomenal.

Speaker 3 (46:57):
Kids, Look i'll give, You i'll give you something like
a little spin on it BECAUSE i like large it
from a sports, Standpoint i'm with, You, like let's.

Speaker 2 (47:07):
Go it's fantasy football draft.

Speaker 4 (47:09):
Week, YEAH i got a draft. TONIGHT i bet you
do what time right AFTER i get off like eight?

Speaker 2 (47:14):
O'clock, right, yeah, okay what? PICK i don't.

Speaker 4 (47:19):
Know it's it's.

Speaker 2 (47:20):
You you. Know it's one of those that just tells
you and.

Speaker 4 (47:24):
It's, like, go it's Every every fantasy football league is completely.

Speaker 2 (47:31):
Different, yes, yes they have their own.

Speaker 4 (47:34):
Personality everybody has the way that they want to do,
things and So i'm just, like all, right, man, well
you just. Whatever it's like something like picking out of
a hat and THEN i don't, know then you get
to pick what You it doesn't matter to. Me it
doesn't matter what PICK i am or. Anything i'm coming

(47:57):
to do. Damage so. Whatever, okay but.

Speaker 3 (48:02):
You but by the, way real real, QUICK i don't
want to derail our. Conversation did you just catch WHAT.
Cj daniels did to cap off a ten, play seventy
five yard drive for The Miami. Hurricanes this is one
of the better catches that you'll. See this is one
of the better catches that you will. See Carson beck

(48:25):
kind of had some, pressure let it. Fly it was
a little. High it could have been. Intercepted But, daniels
who he saved his quarterback by going. Up this is
one of Those i'm gonna go up with one paw
And i'm gonna come down with. It i'm never even
gonna use the other. Paw just one. Hand that's, it
And i'm gonna keep it with one. Hand, Touchdown miami

(48:48):
takes the. Lead that was a pretty pretty. Play oh
and now it's under. Review that's a great.

Speaker 2 (48:58):
Play.

Speaker 4 (48:58):
Oh they they gonna say it hit the did it
hit the?

Speaker 2 (49:00):
Ground but did.

Speaker 4 (49:03):
IT i think he kept.

Speaker 2 (49:04):
It, yeah like.

Speaker 3 (49:05):
It it, bobbled BUT i don't know that the. Ground
oh this one is gonna be different.

Speaker 4 (49:13):
NOW i think it's elbow hit.

Speaker 8 (49:14):
ELBOW i think the ball bounced off his arm.

Speaker 2 (49:17):
Elbow and then the ball goes, up but it never
hits the. Ground that was a pink that pin ritten
all over. It, yeah exactly.

Speaker 3 (49:25):
Exactly And daniels went up with his fingertips and WHEN
i got you?

Speaker 2 (49:28):
Quarterback is?

Speaker 7 (49:30):
NICE i see yesterday The Gators Vernell, brown true freshman
made a one handed catch of his. Own just These,
Florida These florida receivers are.

Speaker 2 (49:39):
Insane and it's raining there. Too different breed out, there, Man.

Speaker 3 (49:43):
Yeah no, kidding no. Kidding, anyway that was a beautiful.
Play i'll give you one. Thing and this is just,
uh this is just a quirky little. Deal but the
only and maybe the only thing only thing That i'm
a miss about summers sports is that there in the. Summer,

(50:04):
uh there's something happening On tuesday And. Wednesday, also that's
it BECAUSE i love to come home from work AND
i don't care whatever's going.

Speaker 2 (50:15):
On let's turn it, On, yeah call on the field.

Speaker 3 (50:18):
Stands that's a touchdown at a beautiful, platoff so extra
point penning thirteen to, Seven.

Speaker 2 (50:23):
Miami but you know WHAT i, Mean, Yeah LIKE i
get like antsy On tuesday And wednesday in football, season.

Speaker 3 (50:33):
And i'm almost scared that someday football is going to
figure out how.

Speaker 2 (50:37):
To just be every night of the.

Speaker 3 (50:38):
Week no one, right and no one will ever be
married again in our, Society that'll be.

Speaker 4 (50:44):
It but but putting a lot of pressure on the.

Speaker 3 (50:47):
NUPTIALS i, mean we out here having The Super bowl
On Valentine's, day what's. Next, yeah let's do football seven
nights a. Week but that's.

Speaker 2 (50:56):
It in.

Speaker 3 (50:57):
SUMMER i kind of like the flow of like you come,
home you turn on the. Game you come, home you
turn on the. Game AND i know baseball is not
going anywhere for a couple more, months but it doesn't
have the.

Speaker 2 (51:06):
Same oh, no, no, no no at all once once football
is going unless unless your team.

Speaker 3 (51:13):
Is kind of hot and heavy into a you, know a,
deep a Deep pennant race.

Speaker 4 (51:17):
Run and even then it changes a little. Bit, yeah
it changes a little. Bit all eyes are on, football
and football is king in this. Country and it's, fine you,
know people love it great. Entertainment fantasy football is just a,
huge huge selling. Point so, Look i'm all for, it

(51:41):
and it's, fun it's. Exciting i'm excited football season is.
Starting people always, say, well you, know you never seem
like you're excited about football because you said you didn't
want your kids to play.

Speaker 2 (51:54):
Football, NO i love, football.

Speaker 4 (51:58):
Love. IT i love. IT i love watching. IT i
watch every single. Game you know what my setup looks
like at. HOME i love. It they don't have to
play it for me to love.

Speaker 2 (52:14):
It you love watching other people play?

Speaker 3 (52:19):
It, yes, yeah, yes you you're you're just glad that
you don't have to play it.

Speaker 2 (52:24):
Anymore, NO i don't want to play. It do you miss?

Speaker 4 (52:26):
It some aspects of?

Speaker 2 (52:28):
IT i? Missed which?

Speaker 4 (52:29):
Aspects there's nothing like coming out in a, stadium whether
it be home or, away and it's just like sixty
five seventy thousand people cheering four or against.

Speaker 2 (52:40):
You those are.

Speaker 4 (52:41):
Moments that you you're not gonna be able to duplicate
those moments. Anywhere like there's no other. Area even in basketball,
games it's seventeen thousand people in, there, RIGHT. Nba if
you played in THE, nba you're playing in front of
seventeen thousand. People eighteen thousand, people it's something to be
said to be playing in front of sixty five seventy

(53:02):
thousand people and they're all, screaming ay you suck or
we love. You and the greatest joy is to be
on the road and drive down the field and score
on an opponent's on the. Way on the, road it's

(53:23):
nothing like. That the, silence the, hush like it's a
it's an adrenaline that you can't find anywhere. ELSE i miss.
THAT i miss that part of, it and the guys
in the locker room and the. Camaraderie being in the
offensive line. Room it's like our own little. World each

(53:45):
team is very segregated in terms of each. Position those
are their, worlds Right offensive linemen don't really hang with defensive,
linemen and dbs don't like in turn at the complex right,
Now i've had friends all over the locker, room but

(54:08):
you spend the most time with your, group with your,
position which is which is very it's a very unique
experience you guys, are especially in the, trenches and for
offensive linemen it's a little bit different because it's five
of us playing at one time and if one, isn't

(54:28):
we all got to be on the same, page or
that thing can go horribly. Wrong so just having that,
together in that camaraderie of five individuals working together every
sixty plays a. Game think about, that all five of
us have to be on the same page for sixty
plays a. Game it's the only position like. That AND

(54:53):
i think just depending on someone like that at that,
level that's why on the road driving down the, field
when you all you have is each, other it's, loud
you can't. Hear you got to be able to. COMMUNICATE
i used to communicate with my left, guard especially when
it Was Chester pits WHEN i was In. Houston we
were friends before, football SO i would look at him

(55:15):
and he knew exactly based on the play and down
to he knew exactly WHAT i was talking, about being
able to read the defense and the blitz and let everybody,
KNOW i miss those things because those are the things
that separated. ME i wasn't the most physically dominating, tackle
BUT i was pretty smart when he came to being

(55:36):
able to get everybody on the same.

Speaker 2 (55:38):
Page so those are the THINGS i.

Speaker 3 (55:40):
Miss but could you imagine if like Next, sunday when
you reach for a. Pretzel some two and ninety pound
dude would like try to knock you off of the.

Speaker 2 (55:52):
Ball you don't have to do that. Anymore, no isn't that?
Nice own? Pretzel just grab a. Pretzel let's go through
some of the, games, Man let's do. It let's do.
It let's go through some of the.

Speaker 3 (56:04):
Games we'll do that coming up, next, obviously we start
with This Cowboy ego game that's coming up in just four.
DAYS i, also we don't want to not touch On
alabama And Florida state and the way that that went
all down. Yesterday so a lot to get. To, still
we're just getting. Started glad that you are with. Us

Screen, okay few things THAT i want to get. To
we can go through the.

Speaker 3 (57:46):
GAMES i want to tell this the damn wide receiver
thing is happening.

Speaker 2 (57:50):
Again we need to talk about.

Speaker 3 (57:52):
THAT i would like to explore something though THAT i
just heard from.

Speaker 2 (57:55):
YOU i brought up That alabama game and you made a.
Noise yeah what you? MEAN i want to know about that?
Noise That Florida state.

Speaker 4 (58:04):
Team uh huh ooh.

Speaker 2 (58:07):
Wee they backed it, up didn't?

Speaker 4 (58:10):
They boy did they? Ever they were? Man you want
to talk about. Possessed just the energy alone was just it.
Was it was crazy sustainable. THOUGH i MEAN i couldn't

(58:32):
sit here and be like, NO i could not be
sitting here and be like, no that's a that's a
one off for, them because they looked like they were
there for, business and they they they played their butts.

Speaker 2 (58:51):
Off. Man that was a good.

Speaker 3 (58:53):
Watch it was a fun, watch thirty one. Seventeen AND
i don't know my. Dream, ACTUALLY i, KNOW i know
that it won't be. Reality me and college football sometimes
don't always get along for one specific, reason which is
that college football tends to do things in such a
way that they kind of follow the same book as

(59:15):
all of The Real housewives, shows which is to, say
we'd really rather get you talking about us as opposed
to giving you something that is much more. Substantive and
here's WHAT i mean by, that because college football does have.
Substance i'm not trying to say, otherwise but they do

(59:37):
things in such a way that it feels like they're
purposefully controversial so that people will talk about. It they
do it every year at the end with however they're
going to finish the. Season is it two, teams is
it four. Teams is it eight? Teams is it going
to be you, know is it going to be thirty two?
Teams someday we can do, this please, NO i, know

(59:58):
but we can do this a bunch of differentfferent. Ways,
hell when you, know we're old enough to, remember and
this will really shake some. People we're old enough to
remember where everybody would just play their games and then
at the end somebody would be, like you you're the.

Speaker 4 (01:00:14):
Champ that's. It you you?

Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
Won why because we said? So like that wasn't that long? Ago?
Right and so.

Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
College football always does that AND i always feel THAT
i can also put in that category preseason. Rankings, now
maybe this is a bad example to bring it up
because It's. Alabama so It's ala Freaking, bama and you're
never going to remove.

Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
Expectations and hype From.

Speaker 3 (01:00:43):
Alabama but in this, Post nick Saban, era there are
questions and Whatnot and so is the little eight that
was next To? Alabama is that because They're? Alabama or
is it because on paper they actually deserve to be
one of the top ten teams in the. Country they
did not look like it. Yesterday they did. Not Florida

(01:01:05):
state does not have a little number next to. Them
i'm sure they will.

Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
Now, oh they definitely. Will they, will but like they
still Have LIKE i even though it's gonna.

Speaker 3 (01:01:13):
Be fine because They're Florida, STATE i don't like that
they have to climb a mountain now that that's that's
totally created by.

Speaker 2 (01:01:22):
People Florida state has to climb a.

Speaker 3 (01:01:25):
Mountain, now if you win all your, games you, Will
but what happens If Florida state loses a, game fall
down to the bottom of the mountain, again and the
mountain is created differently for each? Team, like where Does
alabama go in the? RANKINGS i bet not out of,
THEM i bet not, sure but all the way Out

(01:01:52):
i'd be very. Surprised i'd be very.

Speaker 4 (01:01:55):
Surprised but it's very, rare even Post Nick saban, era
where you see An alabama team just get. Manhandled it's
Still alabama for. SURE i still got the. Resources, yeah

(01:02:16):
it's just that It's nick saban got. Out he knew
exactly what was going. On it was like did the nil? Stuff,
yeah and what happened Was alabama's boosters they got.

Speaker 2 (01:02:29):
Lazy they got. Lazy that's an interesting way to put.
It i'd love to hear more about that.

Speaker 3 (01:02:38):
Right After steve To, Sega right After steve De sega
speaking of never getting.

Speaker 5 (01:02:42):
Lazy, Hello, Steve, Hello AND i love the fact that,
you let's say. Schooled some of the younger listeners, said
this is how it was every year at college.

Speaker 8 (01:02:51):
Football someone just decided at the, end that's.

Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
It you're the.

Speaker 5 (01:02:54):
Champion that's, like, yeah you. Win this is not ancient history.
People the nineteen ninety three football, season WHICH i know
you too will, Remember Florida states And Notre dame each
finished with one. Loss you, know it's a shame that
they didn't play each other during the regular.

Speaker 8 (01:03:13):
Season we could.

Speaker 5 (01:03:14):
Know actually they did play each other during the regular.
Season Florida state finished as the national, champion ranked number
one with one. Loss Notre dame finished number two in
the country with one. Loss Notre dame Beat Florida state
head to, head not in the opening week of the.

(01:03:34):
Season it was Mid november At Notre Dame. Stadium uh.
Huh but then The irish lost on a last second
field goal to a top Twenty Boston college. Team the
very next, Week Florida state went back to number. One
they both finished with one, loss and even though number
two beat number.

Speaker 8 (01:03:49):
One they just decided That florida.

Speaker 3 (01:03:51):
STATEN i my hope for tonight is that everyone who's
thirty years old just processed what you. Said, yeah if
you're thirty years, old listen to What steve just said
that one that long, ago you're not that. Old number
one and number two had the same. Record they played each.
Other the number two team beat the number one, team

(01:04:14):
and then people, went, nope, nope you, lose like that's
how it used to.

Speaker 8 (01:04:19):
BE i can go one.

Speaker 5 (01:04:20):
Further THE usc team that you covered about twenty years
ago finished number one in both polls and was not
invited to THE PCs national championship.

Speaker 8 (01:04:32):
Game, hello and.

Speaker 5 (01:04:34):
Then they'd Beat michigan and The Rose. Bowl and but
that's one Of Nick saban's national. Titles oh well, see BECAUSE,
lsu the team that was number, one wasn't invited to
the championship. Game what are you talking about?

Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
It it's.

Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
Incredible it's as if somebody knew back at the beginning of.
Time they're, like everyone will always love college football because
it will always be less stupid than it was ten years.
Before tectually doesn't matter how how stupid it, is it's less.

Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Stupid than it used to.

Speaker 8 (01:05:02):
Be, yeah well it used to be.

Speaker 5 (01:05:04):
Stupid this very. Stupid, yes you know WHAT i will.
Say the reality is it's not like THE. Nfl there
aren't thirty two teams in this. League it's more like
one hundred and thirty. Two SO i get you've got
some you, know some things to work. Through let's put
it that. Way that, SAID i think the two examples
that we've, given which are in recent, history in the
grand scheme of, things are just astoundingly palmed to the

(01:05:28):
forehead type of. Reactions there is a top ten matchup
in college football At miami tonight where the rains have come.

Speaker 8 (01:05:35):
Again it is.

Speaker 5 (01:05:36):
Halftime The, hurricanes ranked tenth lead number Six Notre dame

(01:07:26):
judge did hit his forty third home. Run and, gentlemen
we have the initial television ratings for the retirement final
show Of Lee. Corso, yesterday a college game day Featuring
corso's final. Appearance, well you might guess it had a decent.
Audience let's put it in. Context almost a decade, ago
their largest audience for the three hour show on A

(01:07:47):
espn was when they were at the site of A
Michigan ohio state. Game they got two point six million.
Viewers last, year their opener for the season got two
point five million. Viewers yesterday was three point point five million.
Viewers on top of, that you know how they go
by quarter hour. Viewership also in The nielsen, ratings, indeed

(01:08:07):
they say the last quarter hour in other, words when
he made his final headgear pick inside the, stadium, well
that was a little more than three and a.

Speaker 8 (01:08:16):
Half it was five million viewers.

Speaker 5 (01:08:18):
For that last quarter hour of the. Show yesterday again
CONTEXT espn had the season, opener the game From dublin
a week. Before that was four million viewers for a.
Game this was five million viewers to watch him put
on The brutus mascot.

Speaker 8 (01:08:38):
Head At Ohio.

Speaker 3 (01:08:39):
Stadium back to, you television, characters, man that's WHAT tv is.
About ephrom knows this. Better you know this better than.
Anybody it's about television. Characters oh, yeah it's about television.
Characters we have worked with, some, yes and that's, why
LIKE i, again nobody's they're not doing it. Wrong BUT
i never feel bad when people are like the spurs are.

(01:09:02):
Boring it's like you. ARE i don't know what you
want me to tell. You it's not just about winning and.
Losing you have to have television. Characters they have television.
Characters Tim duncan wasn't a television CHARACTER i would rather, watch,
Right but that's why people would still rather watch The

(01:09:23):
lakers And warriors right now finish in sixth and seventh
place because they got television.

Speaker 4 (01:09:28):
Characters, yeah they definitely have. Characters punchy. Mcpuncherson that was.

Speaker 3 (01:09:42):
Incredible you called Him punchy. Mcpuncherson, yeah, man.

Speaker 8 (01:09:51):
That was very the cousin of body mcbo.

Speaker 2 (01:09:54):
Faced exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:09:59):
Did they used to call oh You blocky mc blockerson
when you?

Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Played was that your? Name call Me? Blockie? God thank, You,
steve great. Stuff we'll talk to you in an.

Speaker 3 (01:10:13):
Hour It's Mark willard And blocky mcblockerson here on On
Fox Sports radio and live in the in The Fox
Sports radio. Studios miami's got the ball here early in
the third.

Speaker 2 (01:10:28):
Quarter up fourteen to. Seven On Notre.

Speaker 3 (01:10:30):
Dame steve gave you the update on all, that and
we will keep you up to. Date do you think
that the world would be able to handle it if
they just put all the teams out there and didn't
do rankings until three or four weeks into the.

Speaker 2 (01:10:43):
Season could the world handle? IT i don't think. So,
NO i don't think. So why? NOT i think it'll
be so much. BETTER i, mean.

Speaker 4 (01:11:01):
Everybody wants rankings, now, right so we're. Spoiled everybody wants to.
Know you, KNOW i would love for rankings to start
and when you get into conference.

Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
Play that's What i'm. Saying that would be.

Speaker 3 (01:11:15):
Great like you want rankings, now but they're not, real,
right they're not Real and like to the to it
almost goes back to the conversation you AND i are
having about arch. Manning expectations can ruin the best. Movie
and so, yes there are teams that will then underpromise
and over deliver because they didn't get a little number

(01:11:37):
next to their. Name and then They're Florida state and
they come out and they Punk, alabama and Now Seminole
nation is, like hold on a, second maybe we got
something this year even though we didn't think we. Did
the reverse is also, true high expectations because of the little.
Number and let's be, honest we know that the little

(01:11:57):
number is usually more about reputation than it is about
somebody breaking down spring football and understanding where a program.
Is my stepdaughter just started At Boise state this, week,
okay and on her fourth day of, classes as she
learns that like life is all about football in a college,

(01:12:20):
town like, that it's all about, football and we got a.

Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
Little twenty five next to our. Name so, like, Okay
i'm a.

Speaker 3 (01:12:27):
College student And i'm gonna go To Boise state and
we're gonna we're gonna play great football at this.

Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
School got your doors blown, off doors blown? Off and
how about now you're a mid.

Speaker 3 (01:12:42):
Major you lost by twenty seven points two days before
most of the teams had even put their uniforms.

Speaker 2 (01:12:50):
On and that's some disappointment right.

Speaker 4 (01:12:56):
There if you didn't want to go To San Diego,
STATE i, mean what are we?

Speaker 2 (01:12:59):
Doing she actually she applied to. Both she applied to,
both apply to. Both this should make you made, like.

Speaker 4 (01:13:07):
Hey, yeah boys stayed. Tripping, MAN i don't blame. HER
i blame. HER i blame her. FATHER i mean you
know well. THAT i, MEAN i had nothing to do with.
It i'm.

Speaker 3 (01:13:22):
Stepfather what kind of kind of action you THINK i
got on the decision like?

Speaker 4 (01:13:27):
THAT i don't.

Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
Know man'll be leading leading the.

Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
YOUNG i used to live In boise for two summers
a long time. Ago, yeah back, when back when college
football would just point at someone and be like you. Won,
Now like started my career there doing minor league baseball
in nineteen ninety, Eight boise. Yeah first thing you learn
when you live up there is that it's Not Boise

(01:13:53):
Bois Bois, Yeah Boise, State Boise. State, HEY i got
wide receiver market. Questions we got games to go. Through
we only got an hour and twenty minutes left of
this show before it's gonna happen in the middle of
THE nfl. Games so we got work to. Do so

(01:14:16):
let's let's do. It we're live in The Fox Sports radio.
Studios that's he from Salam I'm Mark. Whellard this Is
Fox Sports. Radio cowboys At, Eagles eagles minus seven and a.

Speaker 2 (01:14:29):
Half what say? You what's?

Speaker 3 (01:14:35):
UP i, Say cowboys At, Eagles eagles minus seven and a?

Speaker 2 (01:14:42):
Half what say?

Speaker 3 (01:14:43):
You?

Speaker 4 (01:14:45):
Yeah, Yeah i'm taking that.

Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
Bed you think The eagles gonna? Roll? YES i.

Speaker 3 (01:14:51):
DO i always Think week one is the, hardest, MAN i. Do,
YEAH i know one's the hardest because these teams have
come out and you're, like what the hell is? That?

Speaker 2 (01:14:59):
Who who were? You? Not WHO i thought you? Were?

Speaker 4 (01:15:02):
Yeah but always And i'm always in favor of the
team with less going into the. Season, Right what do
you mean by? That there's a lot of noise and
it has been around The Dallas. Cowboys the last couple of,
years the focus has shifted to The Michael parsons. Saga

(01:15:27):
even after the, trade that's been the. Focus now it's
easy to, say, well they just can block it out
and they can just go. Play and all they've been
doing all summer was asking answering questions About Miga, parsons
what's going on and all of. That so it's one
of those things where there's been too much noise And

(01:15:52):
philly's just had their head. Down they just had their
head down, Working and So i'm always in favor of
the team with their head down and just going to.

Speaker 3 (01:16:04):
Work CAN i ask you, this, though because you went
to A Super? Bowl what and whether it's you wanted
or you lost? It like what is that next?

Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
Year?

Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
Like what how does it change that? Offseason and what
what what? Happens do you bring a little extra exhaustion.

Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
To kill with? Absolutely you? Do you?

Speaker 4 (01:16:23):
Do but when you open up against your, rival, right,
like even if you do have you don't have the
hangover in the first. Game right when you open up
against your, rival you want to embarrass. Them AND i
think they gonna go out there and embarrass, them thinks

(01:16:45):
Say kawan is gonna have.

Speaker 2 (01:16:46):
A heck of a.

Speaker 4 (01:16:46):
Day Jalen hurts has is proven that he's should be
ranked higher than the number nine. Quarterback it's a lot
for them still to. Do although this young man's been
to what Two Super bowls in three? Years one one.

Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
Yep and and didn't play poorly and.

Speaker 3 (01:17:09):
The other one despite the fact that all anybody remembers
is that he fumbled. Yep i'm, like they also scored
like thirty something. Points, man like they, were they were
doing the darn. Thing they almost won that. Sucker, yeah,
okay what About Friday? Night i'm first of, All i'm
not a fan of the game In. Brazil why? NOT

(01:17:29):
i think it's too much on. Players that's A brazil's.

Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
Night it's not. Close not, Close, no it's not close.

Speaker 4 (01:17:39):
All would you get two extra days from you to
come up come back with What i'm, saying IS i get?

Speaker 2 (01:17:45):
IT i.

Speaker 4 (01:17:45):
UNDERSTAND i don't think you open up the season like.
THAT i think you open up the season here.

Speaker 2 (01:17:57):
With the.

Speaker 4 (01:17:57):
Fans if they wanted to have A friday, game they
could have done it. Here but THE nfl is GOING
nfl They, yeah you know they're gonna they know what they're.

Speaker 3 (01:18:08):
DOING i, mean this ends up like you're NOT i
can't say that you're, wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:18:13):
BUT i, mean that's that's a big, game The chiefs In.

Speaker 3 (01:18:15):
Chargers it's a big. Game it's a big game that
we have to get up at what? Time, OH i
don't think it's.

Speaker 2 (01:18:21):
Anything, yeah, yeah nothing crazy they're.

Speaker 3 (01:18:25):
Doing. Yeah oh, gosh you didn't think they were Gonna
they're not going to do. That they're not going to
stick that thing in the middle of a workday at
six thirty in the. Morning but it's Also.

Speaker 4 (01:18:33):
Friday uh, huh why don't They they should just took
good A saturday. Game that's not a bad, idea But Friday. Saturday,
YEAH i, mean you, know there used to Be.

Speaker 3 (01:18:44):
UH i don't know how they've gotten around, it BUT
i guess maybe have high school football games not started.

Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
Yet and because there used to be.

Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
A law basically you couldn't, play you couldn't play On friday,
night high school football has.

Speaker 2 (01:19:01):
Started, Okay, WELL i don't know what happened to that
law because they're out of the. Country oh is that?

Speaker 3 (01:19:07):
It, well but then they do they do The friday
now they Do Black, friday they do the day After thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (01:19:13):
It's a, holiday is. It there's ways to get around.

Speaker 3 (01:19:18):
Here yes there, Are, yes there are skirting around the.
Rule you want to talk about skirting around? Something chiefs
minus three.

Speaker 2 (01:19:28):
Stop, it no, shot stop. It i'm all we.

Speaker 4 (01:19:32):
Know i'm all over The chargers plus the points absolutely.

Speaker 2 (01:19:37):
Over that all.

Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
Over historically The chiefs don't. Cover SO i, know if
you spent your whole year betting against The chiefs to,
cover you come on.

Speaker 3 (01:19:50):
Top oh, yeah oh, yeah oh, YEAH i just LIKE
I i'm, sorry, MAN I i know how good they.
ARE i know they went to the Super, bowl but
that is not, repeatable that stuff they pulled off last.
Year AND i happen to also think The chargers are really.
GOOD i think The chargers are well. COACHED i think

(01:20:13):
they're gonna be ready to.

Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
ROLL i agree with. That you know.

Speaker 3 (01:20:20):
That, One that one looks like an opportunity to. Me
that's What i'm must. Say but with that, said those
are only the first two. Games got a full slate
coming up next, weekend so we will spend our final
hour going through a whole lot of, those and then
we also need to get back to our favorite damn,

(01:20:41):
subject my, man the wide receiver.

Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
Market is doing it, Again so that is. Next you're
listening To Fox sports into the.

Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
Night we go on the Final sunday of the year
Without National Football league, action we do have college Action
Notre dame right now with the ball trying to stay
close in this. One miami is up two touchdowns twenty
one to, seven about five.

Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
Minutes to go in the third.

Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
Quarter we, will as we always, do we will keep
you up to date on that. One, meantime we're going
to be rolling through all of THE nfl games that
are coming up next. Week we've already gotten started with
a lot of, them many many more to, go and
we will do that as. Well we are coming to

(01:21:31):
you live from These Fox sports radio studios and very
very glad you're with. Us, Now before we get to
any of, THAT i have to go back to WHAT
i think might be referred to as our favorite, subject.
Aphram you AND i have gone twelve rounds on this,
one except FOR i shouldn't say it that, way because
you AND i are largely in. AGREEMENT i don't know

(01:21:54):
IF i understand all things that have happened over the
last four years with the wide receiver. Market it feels
like it started With Tyreek. Hill AND i want to
say up, FRONT i don't blame any. PLAYER i don't
blame any. Agent get what you can. Get why wouldn't
YOU i would do the same. THING i kind of

(01:22:17):
blame some of the, teams but we've arrived at a
spot where all the teams are. Complicit this isn't as
bad or outrageous as what The browns did With Deshaun
watson that had owners around the league at least flirting
with the idea of collusion in order to get those contracts.
Down But i'd almost argue it's high time that the

(01:22:39):
same thing happens with the wide receiver. Market this is
completely and totally out of. Control and what happens is
is now somewhat, rightfully so every wide receiver's brains have
been completely sort of scrambled based on the money that's out.

(01:23:02):
There and so here's What i'm talking about, today because
for the third time in four off, seasons The San
francisco forty nine ers are dealing with a wide receiver
and contractual drama and a trade. Request, okay three years, Ago,
debo one year, Ago Brandon ayuk and, now For god's,
Sakes Juwan. Jennings Juwan jennings is apparently asking for over

(01:23:31):
twenty million dollars a year in a contract extension and
has not participated in.

Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
Camp this came after a.

Speaker 3 (01:23:40):
Trade request earlier in the off, season but he then
showed up to camp and after a couple of days
of camp he air quotes came down with a calf,
injury and that is still out there as something The
niners are using, As, oh, no, no it's a calf,
injury even though everybody knows and they've admitted it's both

(01:24:02):
at minimum it's. Both And i'm, like it's not, both
AND i can't feel what he feels in his, leg
BUT i know that a week, Ago Kyle shanahan's, like, oh,
yeah he'll be ready for week. One he should definitely
be ready for week. One and he still did not.
Practice there's still been no, anything but there's no, movement
and The niners are signing a new wide receiver every,

(01:24:24):
day it seems like because they've got a lot of
injuries at the. Position but talk to, Me. Ephraim Juwan
jennings had a wonderful year last. Year came just shy
of a thousand, yards proved some things that we didn't
know about. Him but he's also not in the plans
for the forty nine ers as a guy who's supposed
to be there. One he's not supposed to be a

(01:24:45):
thousand yard. Receiver that was very circumstantial last. Year they
have two other players who are first round draft picks
at the. POSITION i Like i've said for four weeks,
NOW i don't know who's Side i'm on UNTIL i
know what's being. Asked if you're asking for just a
little extra chicken and some, GUARANTEES i get, it that's

(01:25:05):
the nature of THE.

Speaker 2 (01:25:06):
Nfl you should.

Speaker 3 (01:25:07):
Ask but if you're demanding over twenty million a year
off of that season to become one of the top
twenty paid wide receivers in the, Game i'm. Dumbfounded i'm dumb.
FOUNDED i have no idea what the forty nine ers
are supposed to do with that.

Speaker 4 (01:25:23):
Request that's a tough. Request he hasn't putting up the numbers.
Now granted he's their best receiver, now so he's looking
at it like on a team that doesn't really have any.

(01:25:46):
Receivers everyone's. Hurt so they've been literally hemorrhaging at that.

Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
POSITION i, know unproven but don't forget make a, pures don't.
FORGET i get.

Speaker 4 (01:26:03):
It but it's not about what he may, do is
what he has. Done that's just the sport of. Business
that's the business of, SPORT i should. Say so he's, like,
Look i'm the top, receiver SO i want to be

(01:26:25):
paid like a top. Receiver now he's not the top
receiver on other on another, team he wouldn't, Be so
he's kind of stuck in and in the place where
he hasn't really been paid like a top. Receiver so
he's trying to cash in at this moment and it

(01:26:50):
may not get to that number that he, Wants so
you got to keep that in.

Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
Mind but.

Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
You, Know i'm Sure Rock purty wants him for, Sure
so you you there's gotta be there's gotta be some common.
Ground this is a big year for The.

Speaker 2 (01:27:13):
Niners it's a big year for The, niners and this.

Speaker 4 (01:27:16):
Is a year that they can really take hold and
get back to where they were because their schedule is
they have one of the easiest.

Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
Schedules in The Holy.

Speaker 4 (01:27:26):
League, now of course we don't know what these teams will,
be but what we do know is based on previous
years this is a pretty easy, schedule a lot of
question marks across their, opponents you.

Speaker 2 (01:27:46):
Know and just very few elite, quarterbacks.

Speaker 4 (01:27:49):
Very few in that. Area and as you, know that's
what that's the measure of your schedule is based on
the quarterbacks you.

Speaker 2 (01:27:58):
Play, yep that's just what it.

Speaker 4 (01:28:01):
Is and so when you're when you're looking at them
and you're looking at their schedule and it's, like, oh,
okay well The, seahawks it was That Sam, Donald Sam,
donald The, Saints, spencer The, cardinals, Yep Kyler murray The,
jaguar right then The, rams that's always a good. Game,

(01:28:24):
yep you got The. Rams they Got Baker.

Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
May.

Speaker 4 (01:28:27):
Michael, Pennix, falcons C. J, stroud The. TEXANS i would
suspect by the time they get to The giants it'd
Be Jackson dart playing.

Speaker 2 (01:28:40):
Probably what is that week?

Speaker 4 (01:28:43):
Nine, Yeah, Yeah so when you're looking at their, schedule
it's very. Favorable they they need to hit the ground. Running,
yes they need to stretch their legs with this schedule
and put themselves in the position to really you, know
be at home in the, playoffs and they can really

(01:29:05):
take control of the conference if they do this right,
now having no receivers to throw the ball.

Speaker 3 (01:29:15):
To Can hamper that it can for, sure you don't
want to give your kid fifty two million dollars and
then not give them anyone to throw. To right at
the same, time right now they're grabbing a lot of
veterans off the street trying to Surround ricky. Pearsall don't
Forget kittle and McCaffrey and all of the things that

(01:29:36):
the forty nine ers do still. Have and you piece
it together until some of the other receivers start coming
back To Marcus robinson a week Four Brandon ayuk in,
theory at some, point at about the halfway, MARK i
don't know what they'll look, like et, cetera et. Cetera
i'm not saying that that's a perfect. Group they've also
got a couple of young kids who are, hurt who they,

(01:29:58):
like who may start. Contributing but, yeah it's patched. Together
but e from over twenty million a, YEAR i don't
know what they're supposed to do with. That and so
right now you have a conversation that's all the way
over here versus all the way over. Here juwan's Like
i'd like twenty two and The niners are, like we'd

(01:30:21):
like to do. Nothing so how do you meet in
the middle when the gap is as wide as the country?
Itself and in, General LIKE i, said this is one
of those WHERE i could sit down AND i can
totally see What juan and his Agent Drew rosenhaus are
trying to. DO i understand why they're. RIGHT i totally get.

(01:30:44):
It but now there's a game in seven. Days and
the other side to this is if The niners hold
as firm as they're making it sound like they, will
you're out of. Options Juwan jennings is not in a
position to miss. Games he has made about ten million
in his entire, career.

Speaker 2 (01:31:06):
And that's a lot of, money but, like not. Comparatively,
no you're.

Speaker 3 (01:31:09):
Going into a free agent year and you're twenty, eight
and this is the way you're gonna Play My, LIKE
i would Tell, juan you got forty eight hours to
figure this, out AND i could almost assure you that
you're not going to get what you're asking, for because

(01:31:30):
that calls for the forty nine ers to wrap their
arms around you for the next three or four, years
and with what they've got going on contractually and at that, position.

Speaker 2 (01:31:42):
That doesn't.

Speaker 3 (01:31:42):
Fit but, furthermore the larger conversation for me remains just
the wide receivers in.

Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
General how long are we going to do?

Speaker 3 (01:31:51):
This how long Is Jamar chase going to make Double Saquon?
Barkley how long Is BRANDON? I you making three dollars
for every two That christian McCaffrey.

Speaker 2 (01:32:05):
Makes what on earth are we? Doing? DON'T i don't understand?

Speaker 3 (01:32:11):
That and we could sit here all day and prove
to you that the wide receiver importance to winning it
does not warrant contracts like.

Speaker 2 (01:32:21):
That, no it.

Speaker 4 (01:32:23):
DOESN'T i think the pendulum is slowly shifting. Back but
it goes with a passing, league Right like it's a passing,
League so you obviously need to have people to actually

(01:32:45):
throw the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:32:46):
To, sure.

Speaker 4 (01:32:49):
But you can win The Super bowl other ways.

Speaker 2 (01:32:56):
With your wide receivers reading books on the.

Speaker 4 (01:32:58):
Sideline, yeah winning games passing for eighty one, yards good
running games gonna get you a long way.

Speaker 2 (01:33:13):
Ball. Control it just opens up so much.

Speaker 4 (01:33:21):
With the level of elite level of pass rushers now
being able to offset that.

Speaker 2 (01:33:27):
Skill being able to run the ball is a huge.
Thing it's. UNBELIEVABLE i was.

Speaker 3 (01:33:36):
Just, very very struck by a point that you made
at some point last year with all of the teams.

Speaker 2 (01:33:43):
That were done with their running.

Speaker 3 (01:33:45):
Backs The titans were done With Derrick, henry and The
raiders were done With Josh, jacobs and The giants were done.

Speaker 2 (01:33:55):
With Saquon, barkley and The bengals.

Speaker 3 (01:33:58):
Were done With Joe mixon and all of those Players
Aaron jones To minnesota as. Well all of those players
found new homes and then found themselves in the. Playoffs
but the teams that let them, go The Cincinnati bengals
are out there paying their receivers and watching In, january

(01:34:23):
and The New York giants are, watching and The raiders are,
watching and The dolphins with their two thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:34:31):
Million dollar receivers are.

Speaker 3 (01:34:32):
Watching it's just like you can draw a line right
now these teams that Get i'm not. There of course
there are, exceptions of. Course of course Mon rod deserves.
Money Of Course Cede lamb deserves. Money The eagles won
The Super bowl with two highly paid, receivers though they
centered things on their highly paid running. Back that's so

(01:34:55):
the best front office in the. LEAGUE i have no
idea how they're structuring that whole thing to make it.
Work and their lines are. Wonderful so they've they've just been,
fantastic first rate and, everybody no. Doubt but you look
around the league and you've got some of these fancy
teams that are, like we really love our. Receivers jacksonville

(01:35:15):
has always done, It cincinnati does, It miami does.

Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
It they love their wide.

Speaker 3 (01:35:19):
Receivers, meantime The chiefs have no wide receiver money locked.
Up The ravens have no wide receiver money locked. Up
The bills have no wide receiver money locked. Up and
that's the krem de la creme every single. Year SO
i just don't get. It they have locked up what's?

Speaker 2 (01:35:41):
Up? Quarterback for? Sure quarterback go into. Anybody, yep, Yep
SO i get. IT i get. It but by the,
way Soda, Cincinnati, yeah so Does.

Speaker 4 (01:35:53):
Cincinnati it's gonna be an Interesting uh good, lord it's
an interesting watch the. Play, yeah thirty three game right play.
Defense get the guy at. Defense i'm to just let
that thing. Fly it'll be My it would be my

(01:36:15):
advice to to draft, yes Uh, Bengals, bengals draft Some
bengals on your fantasy. Squad you should do. That draft
some quarterback. Receivers you should do.

Speaker 2 (01:36:25):
That the first draft THAT i did this year was
that that won the.

Speaker 3 (01:36:29):
Two quarterback league THAT i told you, about AND i
had the fourth.

Speaker 2 (01:36:32):
Pick Joe. Burrow, Absolutely Joe burrow will be. That that
will be my.

Speaker 3 (01:36:38):
Selection so, hey let's go through some more of the
games and we can keep rocking on, this uh this
conversation as. Well glad you're with us tonight with it
from Slam. Mark we At Fox Sports. Radio it's The
Fox Sports radio, studios and shortly after the, show the

(01:36:58):

(01:37:19):
plank and span your standing by about thirty five minutes,
Away steve To seger five minutes. Away you AND i
need to find some disagreement. HERE i know it's out.

Speaker 2 (01:37:27):
There so we went through these The thursday and The friday.

Speaker 3 (01:37:32):
GAME i think the only disagreement we had was whether
or not This friday game should be. Happening i'm fine
with it Because i've never had to experience life as
AN nfl, player in the travel and all of the.

Speaker 2 (01:37:44):
Things so i just want to eat popcorn and be
a dumb.

Speaker 3 (01:37:47):
Fan, so, like you, know play the, game you want
to be In, brazil knock yourselves. Out but other than,
that you AND i kind of agree with how these
games stack up on.

Speaker 2 (01:37:56):
Paper let's go to Next sunday and see what we can. Find. Though,
okay how about The New.

Speaker 3 (01:38:02):
York giants visiting The Washington commanders and The commanders right
now a six and a half point.

Speaker 4 (01:38:11):
Favorite that's an interesting. Game it is isn't a very interesting?

Speaker 2 (01:38:20):
Game damn.

Speaker 3 (01:38:20):
IT i thought you were just gonna, go, Yeah commanders a,
game it's an interesting.

Speaker 2 (01:38:26):
Game it's a very. Interesting talk to, me let them
know what's what's on your.

Speaker 4 (01:38:32):
Mind so the one thing that we're waiting to see, is.

Speaker 2 (01:38:40):
You, know.

Speaker 4 (01:38:43):
Was what The Washington commanders did last? Year was that.

Speaker 2 (01:38:49):
A? Fluke?

Speaker 4 (01:38:50):
Right they won seven or eight one score, games including
one on a Hail, mary including one on a Hill. Mary, yes,
sir it is more than difficult to repeat that the next.
Year what tends to happen is you find yourself on
the other, end which is losing one score games the next,

(01:39:16):
year the next.

Speaker 2 (01:39:17):
Year So.

Speaker 4 (01:39:20):
Jaydon daniels is a tremendous, talent, YEP i, think you, know,
offensively having mccorrn locked up for him getting, DEEBO i
think it's going to. Help their defense is the oldest
in the, league SO i worry about them holding up.

(01:39:42):
Now The giants are interesting Because Russell wilson has something to.

Speaker 2 (01:39:47):
Prove.

Speaker 4 (01:39:47):
SURE i think they'll be a completely different team than
we've seen the last few. Years they can rush the,
passer they can rush to pass after the. Passes it's
this is this is you know you would look at
this game and be, like oh The giants what we?
Know The giants are going to take a step now

(01:40:09):
they have their quarterback of the. FUTURE i really like this.

Speaker 2 (01:40:13):
Kid, OKAY.

Speaker 4 (01:40:17):
I really Like Jackson. DART i, think, wow what a, play.

Speaker 2 (01:40:22):
What a?

Speaker 4 (01:40:22):
Play oh look at, This, wow what a.

Speaker 3 (01:40:25):
Play interception From miami ball all bounce off about two
or three different. Players this After Notre dame had cut
it to one, score twenty one to fourteen and had
the ball in the neighborhood in, midfield just under twelve
minutes to.

Speaker 2 (01:40:40):
Go just a little pass out into.

Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
The flat and the, boom, boom boom start bouncing all
over the place and The hurricanes get the.

Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
Pick that's a great.

Speaker 4 (01:40:50):
Defense, yeah mister pick there they were on, it got
it boom.

Speaker 2 (01:40:55):
One that's a Bard fellow three off the foot and
then they get. It oh, man that's a fun.

Speaker 7 (01:41:03):
Play by the, way That's Ruben, bain who might be
a top ten pick in this upcoming.

Speaker 4 (01:41:07):
Draft number Four, Bain, yeah you think the dug.

Speaker 2 (01:41:16):
Your.

Speaker 3 (01:41:17):
Melt he's also he's also got the fifth player to
touch the ball on.

Speaker 4 (01:41:23):
That way in The. DUG i was born in.

Speaker 3 (01:41:26):
It So miami's down the High. Red they're gonna start
their their drive on The Notre dame twenty. Eight the
saga is gonna be along in a minute or. Two
he'll get get all the, PARTICULARS i. Think but, anyway
you were, said division is going to be it's gonna be.

Speaker 4 (01:41:43):
Exciting outside of The, Cowboys i'm not quite sure what they,
are BUT i think this division is going to be.
Good i'm looking forward to seeing what The Washington commanders will.
Be i'm NOT i WANT i picked them to win
the divisions year around this time season, START i. DID

(01:42:04):
i like them a. LOT i still like, them not
as much AS i did last year because their defense
is getting older and there will be some type of
set set.

Speaker 2 (01:42:13):
Back, sure and.

Speaker 3 (01:42:15):
Like is there something to be said for especially the
teams in the. Division the defensive coordinators had an offseason to.

Speaker 4 (01:42:22):
Now they studied, Him they studied. Him they know everything
he does right and everything he does, wrong what he struggles,
with what he excels. At it's their job and has
been their job to put a wrench into all of that.
Success which is why winning those one score games as

(01:42:43):
many as they did last. Year don't see it really
happening this year for. Him not to take anything away
from the, team but it just it's a difficult task to,
do no, doubt two years in a.

Speaker 2 (01:42:55):
Row you, know it's a really difficult.

Speaker 3 (01:42:56):
Task is just to be, ready like once an hour
to come in and say really interesting, stuff blaze it,
down just.

Speaker 2 (01:43:04):
Boom but that's what that's What steve De sagred. Does
that's what it.

Speaker 8 (01:43:07):
Does, hello.

Speaker 5 (01:43:08):
Gentlemen, hello you, know with ten minutes to, Go miami

think of that football game next?

Speaker 4 (01:56:16):
WEEK i think it's going to answer a lot of
questions for both of these. Franchises both of these franchises
have been much maligned, Recently raiders, Forever New england recently
last few. YEARS i think they're both headed in different

(01:56:37):
directions in terms of where they. WERE i think they
got the coaching right for both, organizations and they drafted.
Well So i'm excited to See New england's gonna be
a skip. Wow look at this big, play this big. Play,
oh this big. Play yes it, Is, yes it. Is

(01:57:00):
they Play Notre dame all the way down to the fifteen.

Speaker 2 (01:57:03):
Yard line, actually, yeah closer to the. Ten, yeah about
the eleven ten yard.

Speaker 3 (01:57:07):
Line four twenty three to go tight, end, yes and
got loose wide open beyond the second. Area So miami
twenty four to, seventeen closing in on the four minute.
Mark but Now Notre dame is going to have first
down at about the ten or eleven yard. Line so
we got we got ourselves at foot ball. Game it's

(01:57:28):
been a good one, tonight been. Good this has been
a really really like you know when you get the
little numbers next to. YOU i like it when both
teams come out and they look like they look like
real football. Teams and that's been the that's been the
case tonight for both these.

Speaker 2 (01:57:41):
Groups heavy wait match, yep, yep, yep.

the seven yard line for The. Irish so we'll keep

Builder he's got a. Quarterback you got to, remember all
this time In tennessee did not have a quarterback and
still was able to be the number one. Seed so
him having a, QUARTERBACK i Think i'm excited for. That

(01:58:31):

yep and you Know Geno, Smith let's see what that looks.

hair in the next hour and uh and they'll they'll
get you to the finish line on that.
