Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh, here we go again, Week three National Football League,
and I mean, of all, I always can't wait for
five o'clock Pacific time when you and I get to
chop it up. I don't know little extra juice though
on this one tonight. And before I get to all
of the nuts and bolts of setting this thing up,

(00:25):
let me ask this question. How do you fire the
person who can't be fired? That's my question. I'll explain
a little bit more on that in a second, But
welcome in. We're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
That's it from salam. I'm Mark Willard. As soon as
all except for the Sunday night games go final, we

(00:47):
chop it up. We also do a watch party for
the Sunday night game that's starting in twenty minutes. We'll
get you set on that in just a second. Hello,
my man, how are we doing tonight?

Speaker 1 (00:57):
I'm good man. How you doing?

Speaker 2 (00:59):
I'm doing fantast I am doing fantastic. This was a
fun one. This was one hell of a day. And
let me ask you that, man, you hear it in
sports all the time, and I feel for fans, even
fans of teams I root against I feel for them

(01:19):
when all conversations lead to help. You can't fire the owner,
because you can't. You can't fire the owner. But my god,
we've all been a part of watching some franchises where
that is absolutely a necessity.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
And so you can't get Jerry Jones to sell.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
The team e from But how do you get him
the hell out of the way, because my god, my god,
it has been a generation since they've been to a
Super Bowl. It's wonderful that they continue to be the
highest valued team in the sport, but decision after decision

(02:00):
after decision are just.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
It's just a running joke at this point.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
What a performance today, and that was on the heels
of what was just a silly season type victory last
week over the somewhat tanking New York Giants.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
I'm stunned. I'm stunned.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Adding the Micah Parsons trade, the Doc Prescott contract, there's
still no running back to speak of. I am stunned
that this that we're looking at is the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Are you?

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I am, like, I'm not surprised, Like today didn't shock me?

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Oh no, no, no.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
I picked the Bears to win the game. That's not
what I mean.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
I mean, this is being how we got here.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Yes, this is being run as poorly as any business
that you and I can have eyes on in America.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
But it has been for decades.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
So like once again, it's been thirty odd years since
the Dallas Cowboys have gone to the NFC Championship game,
have been really relevant. Even through the Tony Romo years,
they just couldn't get over the hump. And now you
just fall right into the Dak Prescott years. And if

(03:19):
you keep repeating the same formula, you're gonna get the
same answer. You solve the same equation, you get the
same answer. And so I'm not shocked. I'm not surprised.
I'm not surprised that we're here because we've been getting
here for thirty years.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Well, like I hear you, but like it's one thing
to say that the marker like.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
They do every year is you know, the Super Bowl
and all of that.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
But I mean, we're only two or three years removed
from this team actually winning division titles, contending at least
being a factory whole thing.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
I'm actually this, Yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (03:56):
Even when they were winning division titles, sure did you
really think that they were contending.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
No, so not for Super Bowl, but they weren't being
run in it like a circus.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
This is laughable. Oh man, this is laughable. If you
think about Stephen Jones had to fight his father to
not put Tony Romo in as good as Dak Prescott
was playing when Tony first got hurt, remember they were

(04:32):
like nine and oh or ten and oh or something
like that, and he was like, no, Tony Romo's our
started right. So once that started happening, and this is
years ago, once that was the sentiment, I was like, oh,
this is Oh, they're not on the same page. And
it took I don't know what to get Jerry not

(04:55):
to put Tony back in there, because he had stood
by the statement of Tony Romo will take this team
to the super Bowl and win. It didn't happen. He's
made a similar statement with Dak he's our guy. It's
not happening. And when you focus so much on one
part of the meal, the other gets cold. And we're

(05:19):
at a point where you're just, you know, focusing on
the main portion of the meal and the side dishes
are all cold. Nobody wants to eat those so when
you look at their defensive inefficiency, when you trade a
with their best player, their cornerbacks are just I mean,

(05:41):
it's just been tough all year. And then you look
at the inability to even put a real back fill
together with running backs. You don't even have a real
running back room.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
And so, like I said, Dak is fine, she he
is fine, but the rest of the entree, the rest
of the plate is cold.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Is Dak fined from I mean.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
As good as a Dak's I mean he has a ceiling.
I mean, Dak is gonna be Dak. I'm not saying
Dak is going to be Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
No, he's never going to be.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Uh a, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen or Joe Burrow. He's
never going to ascend to that. There's a cap to
just like Tony Romo never descended past what he did. Now,
he's a good player, you can win games there. But
when you're looking for ascension to the top elite part

(06:44):
of the NFL with quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
Yeah that's not happening. Well that's gonna happen. He just
doesn't have that in him.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Yeah, So then I would argue, yes, Dak is fine,
provided that you have him at a certain number. And
the problem is is that the Cowboys, seemingly, unlike every
other team in the NFL, which all find a way
to manipulate the cap, seemingly, the Cowboys have openly stated,
not only did we make Dak Prescott the highest paid
player in the game. Think about that now for a second,

(07:12):
the highest paid player in the game. And this idea
that well, every quarterback that's going to it looks like
the receivers, whoever's next, is going to get the biggest contract.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Have you noticed that nobody has passed Dak.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Josh Allen has signed a deal since then, Brock Perdy
has signed a deal since then, Jordan Love has signed a.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Deal since then.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Nobody's getting a bigger number, and they're all better players
than Dak Prescott. And then the Cowboys will openly state
that that contract combined with CDs, is why, for example,
we're not doing Derrick Henry. It's why, for example, we're
not keeping Micah Parsons. And now what have the Cowboys become?

(07:53):
Ill tell you what they are this year from They've
got a great role in this league. Whoever your fantasy
players are that are going against Dallas. You put them in.
That's who they are this year. This is not a
playoff team. This is not someone that will even like,

(08:14):
they won't even threaten to make the playoffs. I'm not
sure they're gonna get third place. So that's my point.
You're not wrong. I don't disagree with you. My point
is it's gotten worse. It's getting a whole lot worse.
And I'm not an agist by any stretch, but I'll
use this for some sort of a comparison of what

(08:34):
I'm talking about. Like you know, when you've got relatives
and you're like, oh, yeah, they're getting a little up there,
and then like your brother's sister will call you and
they'll be like, hey.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
It's getting worse. It's getting worse.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Whether it's just they can't get around, or there's dementia,
or they're whatever their ability to take care of themselves.
The cowboys, that's what they feel like to me, Yes,
it was bad from it's getting worse.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Good, Lord, like they can't even keep players. Now, who
is this running back room?

Speaker 2 (09:11):
And when CD or Dak gets hurt, which happened today
and it happened to DAC last year.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
You snap your fingers and it's the worst team in
the NFL.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
In a heartbeat, Oh yeah, it's it's noticed that when
a key member is gone, it's all downhill.

Speaker 1 (09:28):
There is no depth there.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
I think the biggest problem is when you look at
the three games and they're one and two. You squeak
one out against the Giants in overtime. Yep, they've given
up twenty four, thirty one and forty.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
I mean.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
That's that's a lot of points. That's too many points.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
That's a lot of points.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
So I mean, excuse me, not forty thirty seven and
you need to score forty to win the game. You
gave up thirty seven. That, my friend, is a recipe
for a disaster. I don't care who you got offensively,
if you can't stop anybody.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Hummm.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
I wonder what giving or trading away your best player
a week before the season starts does to your defense.
You're giving up an average of thirty points a game,
thirty two points a game. That that's that's unsustainable. You're

(10:35):
not going to be able to sustain that. And so
if CD Lamb is out for any number of of
of of weeks, you got the Packers, I mean, even
the Jets.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
What the Panthers did today.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
No, I know you look at their schedule and all
of a sudden, yeah, no, there's no there there is
at the soft spot for a team that you are
the soft spot.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Yes, that is correct. You are the soft spot now, boys.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
And if you and this is honest, if you come
out of the first quarter of the season one in three,
it's very few teams that can dig themselves out of
that hole. And that's what they're staring down the barrel of.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
Well, let me let me make it even. It's worse.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
It's worse than that, because you're right, they're staring down
the barrel of that. But understand, that's not just a
game that's being played next week. They're They're a feast
for the entire nation. They're on Sunday Night Football during
our show on Jerry's World on display with Micah Parsons
on the other team, and that team coming off of

(11:51):
a stinging road lost earlier today.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
I can see Michael Parsons having a four sec type
of game.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Oh my, Like I can see.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
Him going demon mode or coming back to Jerry's World.
I mean, I'm not saying I'm not prognosticating, but I
mean it just seems like, See, the thing people don't
realize is when a player is traded this close, not

(12:24):
an off season in between, not. Michael Parsons was there
all training camp, so he knows that offensive line well,
he knows the plays, he knows the personnel, which means
he knows how to beat them. And so it's different
when you're going up against someone you know and someone

(12:44):
you're better than, and he's better than both offensive tackles
and guards and so on and so forth.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
So it's a little different. It gives you.

Speaker 4 (12:52):
An edge when you're going up against someone you know.
I remember when I got when I left Jacksonville and
went to Houston. We're in the same division, and when
we played Jacksonville, I mean I had a field day.
I had a ball because I had been practicing against

(13:13):
those guys every single day for two years all training camp,
so I knew exactly what to do to give me
the edge and advantage and you know so much. So
it was so funny. Defensive line coach comes to me
after the game was like, good lord, right, Like it's

(13:37):
one of those things where you know and Michael Parsons
knows exactly what his leverage is, what he can take
advantage of, and it's going to be on full display.
Trust me, he will have a battery in his back.
And I'm here for it.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Well, you have to be here for it. You're hired
to do so, and we're gonna be here for it.
And yeah, I don't think there's gonna be a whole
lot of the rest of the country that's gonna feel
sorry for them. And in fact, yes, many will make popcorn.
But that's my only point. You're right, it's been bad.
I'm here to tell you it's getting worse. It's getting worse.

(14:22):
Good players who want to come aren't allowed. Good players
who are already there are getting sent out the door.
And sixty million per year was given to a player
who is, let's be real, barely above middle.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Of the pack.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
Yeah, yeah, I mean.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
He's barely above middle of the pack.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
I will put a bunch of the young guys in
front of him, and you know, as we go through
the show, we'll talk about some of the guys who
are taking huge steps this year and really re establishing
their names. That seems to be the theme of the NFL.

(14:59):
The last couple of years. Can you take your name back?
Can you re establish your name in this league?

Speaker 2 (15:07):
I know you're talking about that Colts quarterback. I know
you are.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
As at least one example, we got a lot to.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Get to miracle win for the Eagles in the only
two and oh versus two.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
And oh game of the day.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
We had backup quarterbacks all over the league. Many of
them won. And in addition to previewing the game that's
about to kick, there's one quarterback who I really want
to talk to you about because he's maybe the opposite
of what you're talking about. Can you get your name back?
I got one that's about to lose his and it's

(15:41):
not Dak.

Speaker 3 (15:42):
So we're gonna get to all of this. Glad you're
with us tonight.

(17:16):
tonight is underway. The New York Giants are going to
have the ball first against the zero and two Kansas
City Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (17:23):
Answer this one for me eat from and that.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Is, is this exactly what the doctor ordered for the
Chiefs and they get right tonight, or do they have
some pretty big problems?

Speaker 1 (17:41):
They have some big problems. I don't.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
I don't think the Chiefs are right, So them getting
right may be more difficult than we thought after the
first loss. I don't think there's a mixture of something

(18:07):
going on here. First of all, they've played more games
than anybody the last three years.

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Sure.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
Secondly, the signs of struggle started last year, and they
escaped the ramifications of the struggle by going fifteen to two. Now,
what I know is, and I mentioned this them a
record twelve straight one score games, winning that seventeen total

(18:36):
in the last two years. That is extremely difficult to
continue to do when you get older and your team
has turnover. Now, of course the principals are there, Yeah,
Patrick Mahomes, who's considered still one of the top quarterbacks
in the league, although his stats won't back that up.

(18:58):
You have Kelsey, who considered one of the top tight
ends in the league, although his stats won't back that up.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
And you have.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
Jones, who was one of the top defensive tackles in
the league. But those three players themselves do not make
a team. And I think Steve Spagnola is having to
push a little bit more, leaving that back end of
the defense a little bit more exposed. And if the

(19:30):
Giants come out and have any sembilance of what we
saw last week with them attacking downfield, that can be
a detriment to Kansas City today.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Because Russell Wilson was on a bender last week.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
Yes he was.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Now he was playing our aforementioned Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (19:51):
You know, yes, But what happens is when older players
have success and they can recapture something that they think
they haven't had in a whtre, it does something to them, right,
they know how to.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
You know, use that. Yeah, it really does.

Speaker 4 (20:08):
Like there were all questions, like these were real questions
last year last week for the Giants, if they're down
by two touchdowns at halftime, do we take Russell out?

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Right? Right?

Speaker 7 (20:21):
Like?

Speaker 1 (20:21):
So, I mean, these.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Were active conversations that were had for seven days. And
then you come out and you do that, you throw
for almost five hundred yards, and now the conversation shift, right, Like,
the conversations.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Is not that anymore.

Speaker 4 (20:40):
So it gives you a sense of Okay, they see now,
and now you're trying to continue on that path, which
is dangerous. Now Kansas City really trying to figure out
they haven't been Patrick Mahomes never been oning to right,
He's never been owing to Patrick Mahomes. Has never lost
three games in a row. Oh and I'm counting back

(21:01):
to the Super Bowl. Ever, So what I'm saying is
this is new territory for them. This isn't last year.
They aren't squeaking these games out. They're losing them. This
is a team that's not used to are comfortable with
playing like that. It has a psychological effect on the

(21:25):
locker room.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
So yeah, they're in trouble.

Speaker 2 (21:30):
Well, I like that Chiefs defense, which really did take
them all the way to the Super Bowl last year.
To me, they're center stage and they're on the field
right now. And the reason they're center stage is because
of something that you just said earlier about Russell Wilson.
Does muscle memory from last week kick in and someone

(21:52):
who was I don't even know if he still is,
but he was on a Hall of Fame track. Does
that sort of get recaptured at all or do we
learn that, oh, you were just playing the Cowboys, never mind,
And then we immediately go back to where we were
prior to last week's game, as you said, where we're
looking for the entry point for Jackson Dart. It's not

(22:14):
this game, and it's not next week when they host
the Chargers, who are the real deal. They're three and zero,
they're the real deal. They are tough, they have a
very good defense. I am not giving Jackson Dart his
first start in that game, absolutely not. But if Russell,
if the slipper doesn't fit, okay, and the genie goes

(22:38):
back in the bottle and all of that stuff tonight,
then I think we are fast tracking a week five
start for Jackson Dart when the New York Giants will
visit the New Orleans Saints.

Speaker 4 (22:50):
Yes, I mean that's what we circled on our calendars, right,
that's on the line tonight. This is the first fourth
and three here for the Giants, and it's batted down
and just like that, you throw points away. Yeah, well great,
you have a great opening drive and yeah, you just
throw the points away.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
No, but can I go to the third down play call?
We run the ball up the middle of the third.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
I knew they were going forward on fourth once they
did that.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
Right, but why not? Like, I have an idea, how
about go forward on third?

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Yeah? How about make on the first down?

Speaker 2 (23:25):
You can decide that we'd like to go forward on fourth. Great,
still try to get the first down on third.

Speaker 1 (23:30):
Yeah, Like that's the part of the play calling.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
I'm I'm unhappy and unsure about and it's been like
that for the last couple of years since this whole
We're going forward no matter where we are on the
field on fourth down. We'll talk about this after our
wonderful update and our beautiful breez. Lets us in on
what's what's popping? Cute her music?

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Please?

Speaker 4 (23:58):
I don't have anything uh inspirational to say about about
her like I do.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
With with with Steve. Uh.

Speaker 4 (24:06):
She's getting there, all right, we have to we have
to see Come on, Mary, let's go boomkay, Yeah, here
we go.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Come on, what's up, Brianna?

Speaker 3 (24:15):
How are you? We're great?

Speaker 8 (24:17):
All good over there?

Speaker 7 (24:18):
I'm sorry, Oh oh gosh, I have no idea what
I'm saying. I totally lost my train of thought. Okay,
you guys, starting off with the forty nine ers, the
edge of the Cardinals sixteen to fifteen. But I was
gonna say, it's such a low scoring game. Nick Bosa
goes down and James Connor was carted off the field.

Speaker 8 (24:33):
I was just reading about that. I didn't see that
James Connor play.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
You don't want to, okay, I would I would suggest
maybe don't watch the highlight.

Speaker 7 (24:41):
Oh so sad he has had such a rough, injury
like career.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
And the ultimate sign of respect.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
I don't know if you guys saw this, but both
teams came out onto the field, absolutely guy one of
the both teams, and that's the division game. These guys
battle a year in and year out, and they all
came out to pat James Connor.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
On the head.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
I don't know what the injury is, but I'm pretty
sure we're not going to see him for the rest.

Speaker 3 (25:07):
Of the year. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (25:08):
I think it looks like it was an ankle injury
so far. So yeah.

Speaker 7 (25:11):
So they the forty nine Ers win it with Eddie
Piniero thirty five yard walk off field goal. The Chargers
edge Lebroncos twenty three to twenty things to a forty
three yard field goal by.

Speaker 8 (25:21):
Cameron dick Dicker.

Speaker 7 (25:23):
They are three and over the first time in twenty
three years. The Seahawks mollywop the I don't even want
to call them the Saints. You guys, they are the
as officially now forty four to thirteen.

Speaker 8 (25:35):
That was ugly, ugly, ugly ugly.

Speaker 3 (25:37):
That's your guide.

Speaker 8 (25:38):
Sencer Rattler is Rattler girl, right, I'm a Rattler girl.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
Okay, yeah, before I thought I remembered that.

Speaker 8 (25:44):
Yeah, yeah, you did. You definitely remember that correctly.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Yes, I don't.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
I don't think Spencer Rattler is the problem. No, no,
I just want to make sure, like I want to
bring it. Might have your back here for a second now.
I mean Spencer Rattler three touchdown power. This is no
picks last week against the Niners. Like he's got people
dropping balls. His defense is not showing up. They have
no clue what they're doing out there.

Speaker 8 (26:08):
They look so lost.

Speaker 7 (26:09):
Robert Salas said that by the end of the Sea
this season, Spencer Ratler will be a household name, which
I thought was a really nice compliment.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
You know what was funny because obviously I work here
in the Bay and if you go back and listen
to that clip, I know that's what he meant to say.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
But he actually said that Spencer.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
By the end of the year would be a household,
well house, which I didn't, you know, like I think
that's what he meant, or maybe he thought he was
just saying he would be at home at the end
of the year.

Speaker 3 (26:35):
I don't know, not going to the playoffs. He'll be
in a household at the end of the year.

Speaker 7 (26:39):
Okay, Yeah, so it could be taken both ways, Okay.
Then and then early morning games. The Steelers outscore the
Patriots twenty one to fourteen. Aaron Rodgers finished with one
hundred and thirty nine yards and two touchdowns. He did
officially pass Brett Faarr for fourth all time and most
touchdown with most passing touchdowns with five hundred and nine.
The Eagles defeat their thirty three to twenty six. The

(27:01):
Buccaneers survived twenty nine to twenty seven over the Jets.
The Commanders beat the Raiders forty one to twenty three.
And in baseball, Cal Ray has hit his fifty eighth
home run up this season. At the bottom of the
fifth inning, they are destroying the Astros seven to one.
So I was definitely going to be on Cal Raley
watch for the rest of the night just in case
he wants to.

Speaker 8 (27:21):
Go for like a sixty burger or something.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
Back to you.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
Guys, all right, Breonna, thank you very much. Yep.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Mark Willard eat from salam here in our Fox Sports
Radio studios. Another reminder on the Globe Trotters, It's not
just a game once in a generation event. Harlem Globe
Chotters one hundred Year Tour. Come be part of a
legacy that never stops. Be there when history is made.
The Harlem Globe Trotters one hundred Year Tour get tickets
today at Harlem Globetrotters dot com. Speaking of Aaron Rodgers,

(27:50):
let's do that in about ten minutes. I know that
there was some sound today from Aaron that you wanted
to get to. I wanted to pay off what I
said to you earlier when I said, Hey, I know
you got some quarterbacks out there that you feel are
retaking their name. I got one for you who's losing
his and unfortunately I hate it because I like him

(28:11):
and I don't think it's all his fault, but my god, CJ. Stroud,
Oh and the Houston Texans offense can't even get a playoff.
Now you're an offensive lineman, talk to me because I
feel for CJ. I don't think he's handling the rush well,
but the rush is overwhelming. His offensive line is a

(28:32):
sieve right now. What do you see when you watch
your former team players?

Speaker 1 (28:37):
I just see there's no connectivity.

Speaker 4 (28:41):
The biggest thing you need as an offensive line, and
that's what makes it the most unique position on the
field is all five have to be in lockstep. They
all have to be on the same page. And if
one is doing something else, are one is not locked
and then a disaster happens. And so we see they're

(29:06):
not all on the same page. I'm literally watching them
not pick up pressure that I can see from my
house where it's coming from, and the protection like I
can see it. So I'm calling it out and it's
not happening. He got one guy going this way, one guy.

(29:29):
It's bad and it's and you're right.

Speaker 1 (29:33):
CJ.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
Stroud is about to lose his name because he has
so much good promise and now he looks like a
shell of his early self because he can't get into
a rhythm. He can't even find pace. And once that
happens to a quarterback and I don't care who you know.

(29:55):
We saw Patrick Mahomes, we saw it happen to him
in a Super Bowl. Yep, no matter what what happens.
We saw it happen to Cam Newton, we saw it
happened to Peyton Manning. Like it doesn't matter who you are,
Tom Brady. If you're under constant pressure and you can't
get your rhythm, then everything is off. There is no

(30:18):
there's no balance, there's no ability to have confidence that
you can go through your progressions. You feel like I
have to take the thing that's available right now, and
that speeds up your offense or slows it down in
certain aspects, and you don't allow the quarterback to be

(30:38):
able to really take advantage of the defense. The defense
is always punching you in the mouth. What great quarterbacks
do is they make you guess wrong, and when you're
not even guessing, you're just trying to survive.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
That's a problem for a quarterback.

Speaker 2 (30:57):
Wow, there's a bunch of stuff that you add to
this conversation too. So if I'm a quarterback and my
pace is off and my offensive line is not giving
me time, if I'm that offense, what I want to
then lean on is well, let's see, let's see if
we can get the run game going.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
Let's see if we can get the run game going.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
And oh god, oh dear, so this might be a
little bit in the weeds. And I know Joe Mixing
is hurt, and quite frankly, I'm not terribly optimistic we're
going to see him this year. This sort of has
maybe shades of the James Connor conversation we were just having.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Everybody in this league loves Nick Chubb.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
He's been through hell and the fact that he has
fought to continually come back and play is amazing. But
I'm sorry, it's just like it's not there anymore. And
I don't know how many of you all have had
a chance to see their kid wood he marks from
giving him the job.

Speaker 3 (31:53):
What are we doing? What are we doing?

Speaker 2 (31:56):
He looks great and they're only giving him about like
five or six touches a game, and he can catch
the ball out of the backfield, and I just feel
like somebody got to help CJ out here. And the
offensive line won't do it, and Nick Chubb's not doing it.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
You gotta change this thing up.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
I am a huge fan of Damico Ryans, and I'm
worried the direction this thing is going is going the wrong.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
Way it is.

Speaker 4 (32:20):
And you got to run the ball more than fifteen
times yep, right, and you're averaging about four and a
half yards to carry.

Speaker 1 (32:27):
You got it in a one score game, which is
one score game.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
Yeah, four and a half yards of carry, that's late,
Thank god.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
That gets you first down, the first down.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
And so yes, you just have to slow the rush down.
You have to get an eleven personnel and run the
ball against Nickel, like, there are different things you can
do to make it easier for those guys up front
and all of that, and it's just not clicking. They're

(33:02):
taking People said they took a step back, or he
took a step back last year, and look, he didn't
have any receivers, all of them got hurt.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
And they still made it to the exact same spot
they made it to his rookie year, second round of
the playoffs. And so what I'm saying is that seems
like a far cry from where they are now. I mean,
they're a bad football team. And it pains me to
say that because I have an affinity for him. I've
spent five years there. I know Demiko, he was one

(33:32):
of my teammates, and so it's it's a tough watch
and especially Jacksonville. You know, Jacksonville was looking for a
reason to lose. And you know that's a division game,
and it's that those games are always tough. I'll say

(33:53):
that whenever you get in that division, they're always tough.
But I tell you what, both of them better be
got both on the Indianapolis Colts.

Speaker 3 (34:02):
Oh yeah, you're already three games out.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
What you are already.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
Three games out? So we need we need to get
to those Colts.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
I want to get to your your Aaron Rodgers comments
after the game.

Speaker 3 (34:12):
Let's do all of that.

Speaker 2 (34:14):
We got three things coming up at the top of
the hour. That's when each of us give our top
three observations of the entire day that are on our mind.
So we're just getting started. Chiefs are in Giants territory.
Our watch parties underway. We'll keep you up to date
there too. With me from Salama Mark Willard. This is
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (34:33):

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Shades of last year long field goal for Harrison Buker
on the way dooink off the upright and in. But anyway,
off to a good start there for the Chiefs. They
get the opening drive field goal. They're up three to nothing.
Keep you up to date in these Fox Sports radio studios.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
You want to talk about your boy Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
Oh yeah, let's do it.

Speaker 2 (35:08):
Okay, talk to me, set it up. What did you
hear after the game caught your attention?

Speaker 4 (35:14):
You know, first, I just it was good to see
the Steeler defense join the season.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Now. It wasn't the normal way they would normally do it.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
Now.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
Of course, they had four takeaways, which is a record,
and they were just ball hawking, but they were also
giving up fifteen to sixteen play drives, you know, doing
something miraculous at the end to get to turn over.
But they showed up, and we had been missing them

(35:49):
for the last two weeks essentially. But I was interesting
watching Aaron Rodgers in that game. It was very, very
spirited throughout the course of the game on the sidelines
and even in the game, uh, communicating with his teammates

(36:11):
and and and you know, there was there was a lot,
and so emotionally it felt like he was super invested,
opposed to when he was at the Jets. He kind
of felt like he was like it is what it

(36:31):
is right he would It was almost like he checked out.
Now I know that he's trying to build chemistry with
his offensive weapons. Didn't do a lot of mini camps
and and and things like that. Of course they had
training camp, but you know, it's only so much you
can do. They don't even practice like they used to

(36:53):
practice in training camp. But what I know is it
hard to build chemistry in you know, six weeks.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
It's going to take time. And just listening to him.

Speaker 4 (37:05):
After the game and how he felt the offense was
doing was interesting to me.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
Hit it.

Speaker 9 (37:19):
I'm here with the quarterback, But we got to start
with the play of the defense in this game.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
What struck you with their performance?

Speaker 9 (37:26):
Well, I mean they've been taking on the Chad Low,
but I think the last couple of weeks and didn't
really appreciate it. So they came out and played incredible.
We were terrible on offense after the first two drives.
I didn't have a good game, but the defense every
time kept this in. I mean, any of the first half,
deflection interception going in for a touchdown, humble touchback. I
mean the defense won the game. This was a classic

(37:47):
Blitzsberg performance. Hats off of those guys offense. We got
to get in the film room and get better because
we can't have our defense save it for.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
Us like that every week.

Speaker 9 (37:56):
Understandable, but you make the plays in that one drive
to get the points necessary. What can you take from that?
Probably can take a lot from the first two dry
So we came out, you know, played well, We got
into rhythm, we were in no huddle, We moved down
the field, got a couple of touchdowns, and we sat
on the bench for like thirty minutes. There was a
long lull there and then we stop them. Then we
come out, I throw a terrible ball and we're back

(38:18):
in it. Then they stop them again. So our defense
played incredible. What we can take from it is we
had to have some players and guys make some plays.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
That's about it.

Speaker 9 (38:26):
But we got to get better on offense. I gotta
play better. Lastly, you move to fourth, you passed prett far.
I know it's about the team in the moment right now,
but what does that mean.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
To you, it means I'm old. I've been playing a
long time.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
Okay, this stood out to you.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
Why, Yeah, it's set out because even like even when.

Speaker 4 (38:49):
When he's giving his defense a compliment, and even when
he's you know, waxing poetic like like Aaron does, he
was very honest about we stink, right, we gotta get better,
we got to get in the film when we got
to do this, and we got to do that. And
then he says, we go down and we score, and

(39:09):
then we sit on the bench for thirty minutes. Right, Like,
So even when you give props to your defense, you
kind of, you know, nudge them a little bit, like
alluding to the fact that, like I said, they gave
up a seventeen play drive and ended in an interception.
The offensive division sitting on the sideline for thirty minutes.

(39:30):
They come in, it doesn't go well, they give the
ball right back. And so it's just those little things
that make me raise an eyebrow.

Speaker 1 (39:40):
Like he understands it. He has no time.

Speaker 4 (39:43):
This is it, this is it, this is the last hurrah,
this is the last everything. So he understands the importance
of it to me, and and if he can take
the onus right and get better and bring Now offense
is looking for him to lead, No one, No, DK
metcalf is not the leader of the offense.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
No, he's the leader of the offense.

Speaker 4 (40:05):
So just him acknowledging that, you know, it could bode
well for the Steelers. But I was impressed with how
that defense with bending like a mug but didn't break.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
I don't want to take any of the credit away
from the Pittsburgh Steelers, but I will tell you this, Ephraim.
One of my three things, one of my observations will
be about the team that they were playing. Mmm and
just a little whoopsie daisy that they kept doing whoopsie

(40:43):
over and over again. So three things are coming up
next on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (40:52):
Yeah, off we go. Now a little deeper into the night.

Speaker 2 (40:55):
Week three National Football League has mostly unfolded in front
of our still a game in three quarters or so
left to go, and tomorrow night's a doozy.

Speaker 3 (41:05):
We'll talk about that one a little bit.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
Chiefs continue to lead the Giants here three to nothing
as they try to get off of the schneid after
their O and two start. We are live and the
Fox Sports Radio studios and also This isn't just a game,
It's a once in a generation event, the Harlem Globe
Trotter's one hundred Year Tour. Come be a part of
the legacy that never stops. Be there when history's made.

single Sunday right about this time. If it's six o'clock
in the west, it's nine o'clock in the east, anywhere
in between or beyond. You sit down, you sit back,
you relax, and you listen to me, and he go
through three things, our top observations of the week in

(41:53):
the National Football League and maybe beyond, and we lay
it out for you right now in order.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
Ephraim, would you like to go first? Let's hear it.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
Uh, sure, I'd love to go first.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
Fire away dogs.

Speaker 4 (42:10):
We are consumed with the two sides of the game.
We talk about a nauseum, the offense and defense.

Speaker 1 (42:22):
Okay, that's what it is, all right.

Speaker 4 (42:26):
We know our offensive starters, we know our defensive starters.
All of those guys and most of those guys are
on our fantasy football teams. What we don't talk about
is the third aspect of the game, and that special team.
Special teams are special, right, they can make it good
or bad for you. Now, for whatever reason, today was

(42:47):
a special day for special teams. God, I have never
in my life been a part of a day of
football that was this special.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
When you have.

Speaker 4 (42:59):
Walked off multiple walk off blocked field goals for scores.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
For score, you have multiple.

Speaker 4 (43:12):
We've been talking about the return game has been suffering
for since the new rules. You have multiple special team returns,
punt kickoff returns for touchdowns out that affected the outcome
of games. So I want people to know that the
majority of players who populate your favorite football team cut

(43:38):
their teeth on special teams. Most players start there outside
of the first or second round. And today just happened
to be a very special day when it came to
special teams rearing its beautiful head and come in away

(44:00):
and helping these teams win. So my first thing is
the specialty of special teams.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
Well, I love it, and I'm gonna move one of
mine up because this is proof that you and I
don't tell each other are three times to do it
because mine is related. Although I'm gonna say it in
a way that you I don't know if you're gonna appreciate.

Speaker 3 (44:18):
Now.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
Again, you were not a special teamer. You were starting
offensive line.

Speaker 4 (44:24):
My first season in Mini camp, I was on kickoff
return and I remember we were playing the Steelers in
West Virginia on kickoff return and I missed five blocks
and that was the last time I was one.

Speaker 3 (44:41):
We're gonna find that.

Speaker 1 (44:43):
Yeah, so thank god, like I couldn't.

Speaker 4 (44:46):
That's when they had the real gunners coming down, trying
to push your helmet through the back of your butt,
and I was.

Speaker 1 (44:51):
Like, oh no, it's not for me.

Speaker 2 (44:52):
Yeah, well let's fight a different, different part of the field.
And that's well played. But here's what I want to say,
because you from and I have done it a law
with you. We have spent quite a bit of time
over the last three four weeks of our lives.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
Talking about what we are talking about. Kickers. Do your job.
You've got one job.

Speaker 2 (45:09):
Kick the ball, make sure it goes through those two
little yellow things up there. That's your job. And Joe
only job outside of that. You play in Hackey sack
and golf all camp long. Right, you know, we haven't
talked about, probably not once in the history of you
and I doing shows together. That's the people who block
for kickers. What the hell are you all doing? What
have you been doing? Because we're not asking you to

(45:31):
block for long. That's not Lamar Jackson back there, that's
not Kyler Murray. You don't need to find your man
and hold him for five six except you need to
touch him once. Just make sure your man doesn't fly
through the line untouched and ruin the field goal. Green Bay,
you're two and one because of a block kick. Los

(45:54):
Angeles Rams. You're two and one because of two blocked
kicks in Tuning with including one as you said, that
was a walk off. It almost cost the forty nine
ers a game last night, and it probably should have
cost the Buccaneers a game today only because when you
give the ball to Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 3 (46:12):
With a minute ago, he seemingly always make something happen.

Speaker 2 (46:15):
But only because of that did you not lose a
football game today as well.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
We're not asking for a lot big guys. Touch your man.
That's it. Touch your man one time. Do your job.

Speaker 4 (46:33):
And you see I left kickers outside of my You
did good special teams.

Speaker 3 (46:38):
You did good.

Speaker 4 (46:39):
I didn't even bring them up. I brought they were
better today.

Speaker 1 (46:43):
I brought up the special people on special teams.

Speaker 2 (46:47):
I love it, and well, by the way, I live
in San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (46:50):
Don't you talk about kickers today? Because we found a kicker.

Speaker 2 (46:53):
I was like I would I would have puked if
that was Jake Moody.

Speaker 3 (46:56):
Oh my god, that went out there for that game.

Speaker 1 (46:59):
Yeah, you already heard a TV home.

Speaker 2 (47:01):
I would have left. I would have left. My wife
wanted to turn this one off. I said, don't you worry,
Eddie De Naro's got this one right down Broadway. Niners
are rabbit out of a hat, three and all. We'll
get to them later. What's number two?

Speaker 1 (47:14):
Number two is I love cooking?

Speaker 3 (47:18):
Oh too.

Speaker 4 (47:19):
I love cooking, but after watching one particular game, I
think I'm going to get into baking.

Speaker 3 (47:29):
Oh oh, I said, what you did?

Speaker 4 (47:32):
Okay, I feel compelled to start baking because my guy
in Tampa Bay, Baker Mayfield, is really cooking. He is
serving it up and is sweet, it's tasty, and it's feeling.

(47:52):
You already alluded to it. If you give him a minute,
he's going to make you pay, not one, not twice.
Not but three times this year. Yep, he's gotten the
ball and the waning minutes of a game and won
that football game. Baker Mayfield is rewriting his story and

(48:16):
recapturing his name.

Speaker 3 (48:19):
He looks fantastic and he's and he's tough as nails.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
Oh my god, got hit on the arm today and
he was shaking his right hand for a good solid quarter.
And then he goes out there and he's not only
moving up and down the field by throwing the ball.
Where where did those where did where did that scrambling
ability come from? Man juking people, he's stiff arming people.

(48:43):
That's a football player.

Speaker 4 (48:44):
That is a football player and to do anything to win.
And that's why they're three and zero.

Speaker 3 (48:51):
What did you say earlier? Rewrite your name? Baker Mayfield
has gunning bad. Hey, he has absolutely done it.

Speaker 2 (48:58):
So I love that and it goes right there in
lockstep with what my number two.

Speaker 3 (49:01):
Is, and that is that young man is throwing to the.

Speaker 2 (49:06):
Next big thing at the wide receiver position. If you
have not had a chance to watch young Imcca Ibuka
play football in the National Football League, you need to
find yourself a TV that's got a Bucks game on it,
especially because Mike Evans, for what feels like the forty
eighth time in his career, has hurt his hamstring and

(49:28):
he's probably gonna miss a little bit of time. And
so here comes Ibuka. And I know Godwin is working
his way back, but there is nobody, nobody, not Evans,
not Godwin, or not anybody else that is going to
take Ibuka off of the field.

Speaker 3 (49:42):
This man.

Speaker 2 (49:43):
These are his first three football games of his career.
He's scored three touchdowns already. He is shining with one
handed catches down the field. He has body control, he
has route running ability, he has speed.

Speaker 3 (49:58):
He is a first round pick and looks like it.

Speaker 2 (50:01):
But at that position, you don't often see someone that ready,
that fast.

Speaker 3 (50:06):
They've got chemistry already.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
That is the next big guy at the wide receiver position.

Speaker 1 (50:12):
And he came to the perfect place.

Speaker 3 (50:13):
I mean, yes he did.

Speaker 4 (50:15):
I mean Baker Mayfield is static and they're going to
get extremely close these next few weeks because not quite
sure what the Mike Evans injury and the hamstring is.
But if Baker likes you and trusts you, he will
feed you. Ask Mike Evans, Ask Mike Evans, and so yes,
I agree with you that young man is destined to

(50:36):
be a star. Seriously, they they knocked that out the
park with that pig. Okay, So for my third I
normally like to go outside of football. Yes, so I'm
going to hold firm on that. And I just I
found myself doing something today that I very rarely do

(51:00):
when Sunday football is on.

Speaker 1 (51:03):
We didn't have that many games.

Speaker 4 (51:06):
I believe we only had four games after and the afternoon,
so it allowed me to check out the Dodger game.
I'm here in LA and I'm a Dodger fan, and
I have an affinity for baseball and ever since I
started coaching my sons in baseball, and I'm pulling for
the Dodgers, and I've been noticing them. There's going to

(51:33):
be a fight in the clubhouse. It has to be.
All of the starting pitchers are going to line all
the relievers up and throw fastballs into their face because
you can pitch seven it lists scoreless innings and lose

(52:05):
the game.

Speaker 3 (52:06):
Gave up one hit.

Speaker 4 (52:06):
But I'm just talking about from the past. This is
a thing now. It's not a one twice three times
it's happened. No, I'm talking about in the last month.
This is what the recipe is. What it does to
teams playing you is it doesn't make them panic. The
thing about baseball, when you go up in baseball, teams

(52:30):
start to make adjustments in panic because it could be
over in a flash. And when they know you're giving
up the goods late in the eighth, ninth inning, they
stay calm. And that's what we're seeing. So shame on
the relieving efforts of the Dodgers' bullpen. I'm sick and

(52:54):
tired of it. We're going into October. We should be
hitting our stride, which the starting pitchers are yep. But
that bullpen, brother, this is gonna be a short Uh.
It's gonna be a short little wildcard round that. That
thing's gonna be over real fast. If this is what
they come to the table with, you're absolutely right.

Speaker 2 (53:15):
And you're the number one person in your your your
firing squad with baseballs.

Speaker 3 (53:19):
I don't want to get too serious here, but.

Speaker 2 (53:21):
With baseball's your firing squad is Blake Try That's who
you're talking. Try And has seven losses this year and
he's sporting in the e r A that is over
five and a half.

Speaker 1 (53:32):
He's got to go.

Speaker 4 (53:33):
Literally, when he he came out there, I'm like, what, No, not.

Speaker 3 (53:36):
And that's the problem.

Speaker 2 (53:37):
Dave Roberts continues to put him into the leverage situations.
He was handed a one nothing game in the eighth
inning today against a team that hasn't gotten a hit
since the Biden administration, and and uh they.

Speaker 3 (53:49):
Scored three runs.

Speaker 1 (53:50):
It just happens to be your team.

Speaker 2 (53:51):
Yeah, yeah, it does, which is why I won't be
right here to take as many shots at them as possible.
But who cares because their season's over. Let me give
you a word to the will and you'll love this.
A bullpen in baseball is an offensive line in football.

Speaker 3 (54:07):
They're the same thing.

Speaker 2 (54:09):
You give them no attention, but they are the thing
that you need. They will make your awards go away.
But boy, if they're not good, you will suck when
you don't even know you suck, and you won't be
able to understand why you suck. This Dodger team is
not going to win in the playoffs with this bullpen

(54:31):
period period. It gets elevated even more when you get
into the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (54:38):
And so I'm with you.

Speaker 2 (54:39):
You've pointed to something that is absolutely crucial and this
Dodger team, like many in the past. If you want
to go over the last decade plus and wonder why
the Dodgers had won so many divisions but then couldn't
get through the playoffs, that's often the reason they've never
ever fully committed to a great bullpen. And when they

(55:04):
look to the north and wonder why ten to fifteen
years ago, a team that seemed somewhat devoid of talent
won three World Series in five years, go look at
their bullpen. Their bullpen was incredible during that period of time.
That's what you're spot on. That's what the Dodgers need

(55:25):
to do. And I don't know if there's enough time
to figure it out.

Speaker 1 (55:28):
Oh oh no, no, the time is up. Yeah, we're done,
We're done.

Speaker 3 (55:33):
I got one more for you. And it's this.

Speaker 2 (55:38):
I don't care what the numbers say. It's Traveon Henderson time.
And this is not a fantasy football take. If you
don't know who that is is a rookie running back
for the New England Patriots. And the New England Patriots
this year, to me have been and this may shock you,
but they've probably been the most disappointing team so far
this year. Yes, in the NFL, I thought they were

(56:00):
ready to take a step under Vrabel. Drake May has
been largely fine, not great, but pretty good, workable for sure.
But their defense is a disaster and I don't fully
understand why. And then when you speak about things I
don't understand, let me focus on And I'm sorry for this.
This is gonna sound mean, but what is re Remandre

(56:22):
Stevenson still doing with a job? The man spent all
last year fumbling the football.

Speaker 3 (56:30):
They took him out of multiple games.

Speaker 2 (56:32):
They had a press conference to announce that he had
been demoted and benched. Then they went to the draft
and they got a running back. They also got a
new coach. And I think everybody's looking at this going Okay,
they saw it too.

Speaker 3 (56:47):
You can't put the ball on the ground.

Speaker 2 (56:51):
And then here are the Patriots running around against the
Steelers doing what handing the ball to Ramandre Stevenson.

Speaker 3 (56:57):
What did he do? He fumbled? Sow react.

Speaker 2 (57:01):
They gave it to him again, and so what did
he do?

Speaker 3 (57:06):
He fumbled again?

Speaker 2 (57:10):
Like sometimes, this is no different than Jake Moody, the
kicker in San Francisco. How many times does someone need
to send you a message? Before you receive it, get
the message you gotta do something different. You have a
young quarterback who's talented and man, he needs a running game.

(57:30):
And Ramandre Stevenson and his backup Gibson who put one
on the ground as well.

Speaker 3 (57:36):
They lost that game today.

Speaker 2 (57:37):
You can credit the Steelers, but I'm also gonna put
that on the New England running backs for putting it
on the ground so much today.

Speaker 1 (57:43):
Yeah, and you're absolutely right. You know who else? I
fought like, I'm.

Speaker 4 (57:46):
Very nervous for New England. Some of the things Mike
Rabral was doing. I will never okay, I will not
be a part of. If you're going forward on fourth
down on your own thirty, yep, that's certifiable, like you brother,

(58:10):
that I know. I think they weren't like the It
might not even been the thirty. I think they were
like on the the fifteen or something. It was something
so odd, out of line that I couldn't even believe
it was happening. I thought I was tripping. I thought
I was, Oh, my reception must be off. Like if
he can listen, if he continues to put his team

(58:33):
in harm's way like that, it is going to spiral
out of control. Now you can say, well, I'm building trust.
They know I'm all in. Yeah, that's not how you
do it because all it takes in a one score game,
which it was for the whole time, is for you
to give the ball and the team doesn't have to

(58:56):
get a yard and take points.

Speaker 1 (58:59):
Like you're sel sacrificing.

Speaker 4 (59:00):
You're shooting yourself in the foot before you step outside.
And to me, that's crazy. I do not agree with that.
And they did it a bunch of times. It's a
recipe for disaster.

Speaker 2 (59:15):
And that's largely what I would say. At the start
of the season for them has been already one and
two and already two games behind the Bills in the division.
This thing looks like this thing has a look of
an absolute cake walk for the Buffalo Bills this year.

Speaker 3 (59:34):
More on that coming up around the bend.

Speaker 2 (59:36):
We're flying toward halftime in the Sunday Night of the
Chiefs REP six nothing and threatening for more. We'll keep
talking it out that' see from Salama Mark Ward and
this is Fox Sports Radio. I think we need to
talk good thing. That's what we do for a living.

(59:58):
We're in the Fox Sports Radio studio. It'd be sure
to check out DraftKings sports book and official sports betting
partner in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
Right now, use the promo code Fox Game.

Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
That's Fox Game to claim your special offer at DraftKings. DraftKings,
the Crown is yours. Don't forget that's promo code Fox Game.
The hell's going on between Andy Reid and Travis Kelce.

Speaker 4 (01:00:22):
I'm sure he's telling him stop kicking field goals and
just go for it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
I could see that, and Andy Reid I don't think
he wanted to discuss strategy with Travis Kelce. In fact,
it looked to me like Andy Reid had saved up
whatever Travis did to him in the Super Bowl, he
saved it up for today and just gave him one back.

Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
So, by the way, my bad, I don't want to
assume every listening's like what happened. Well, very heated exchange
on the sideline, and Travis seems to be the less
aggressive in this particular angle that we get.

Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
He's walking toward Andy Reid coming off the field.

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
Reid starts to charge at him, red faced and screaming,
and gives him the little kind of pectoral bump, if
you will, And it didn't seem to face Travis at all. No,
he's just kind of like, oh man, big man, gave
me one.

Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
I mean, naty ay aired in lock. They've been together
forever a long time, right, like when you go home
and your uncles and your brothers and your cousins and
all of that. It's a different energy, you know, so
they know the love is there is just like you
gonna hear me, shut the bleep up, you gonna hear me?

Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
Well, I mean, and they you know you said stop
kicking field goals. Harrison Bucker had hit two long ones tonight.
The next this one was shorter. Got to remember the
first one clinked in it. It was annoint it clinked. Yeah,
it was a fifty something yarder though, so I'm not
gonna get too hot and bothered about that. Then he
hit a forty eight yard right down the middle. And
then he just pushed a forty yarder and missed it.

(01:02:14):
And it's only six to nothing, Okay, so they look
out of sink. Travis is like there are plays where
he's open six yards away from Patrick, and Patrick just
like just.

Speaker 3 (01:02:26):
Just missed him.

Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
Like, well, I'll tell you, I don't know what I'm
watching if Giants are doing. They're getting him off his spot.
He's very uncomfortable, he's scrambling. He's made some miraculous plays
with his legs and his ability to extend broken plays
and get the ball down the field. But I want
to go back to what I said at the beginning
of this game. On the Giants first drive, Okay, when

(01:02:49):
they gave away three points, could you tell me what
the score is with two minutes going into half?

Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
That would be six to nothing Kansas City.

Speaker 1 (01:02:57):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:02:57):
So in that at first, fourth and three or whatever
it was, from the thirty yard line, if the Giants
would have opted to kick the field goal, could you
tell me what the score would be with you having
the ball heading into this final drive going to what

(01:03:19):
would the score be possibly.

Speaker 2 (01:03:22):
Based on today, I think it would be thirteen to
nothing Chiefs because they would have blocked it for a touchdown. Yeah,
six to three would be the opportunity. That'd be the
opportunity in front of them.

Speaker 1 (01:03:33):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
I just wanted to because people think I'm like, all
you got to give with the times e from that,
you know, they're not kicking field goals and they're going
for it. They're doing this they're doing that what I
never like to do. And we've talked about this and nauseum.

Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
You know this.

Speaker 4 (01:03:48):
I don't like to give points back, yep. I don't
especially early in the game.

Speaker 3 (01:03:56):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (01:03:56):
I don't like to chase points by going for two
for no reason. And I don't like to not take
the points.

Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
And I know you don't like to send your team
all all the way down the field and then get nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
It's nothing.

Speaker 4 (01:04:10):
I'm what I'm telling you, and people, you can say
what you want. I know what it feels like to
go again to a good team and drive down the
field and get no points. It is unbearable. Yeah, And
time and time again we see coaches putting their players

(01:04:31):
in these situations and I am not here for it
and I don't agree with it.

Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Well, we'll see what happens.

Speaker 2 (01:04:38):
Because giants on the outskirts of field goal range again
at the two minute warning of the first half, here
continues to be six nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
We will keep you up to date on that. But actually,
so well Branda Muro, because that's what she does. She
keeps you up to date on everything that is going on.
So you should listen to her speak because she's about
to speak on the radio.

Speaker 8 (01:05:01):
What's up, guys?

Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
What Hi?

Speaker 3 (01:05:03):
What up? Be hi?

Speaker 8 (01:05:06):
Okay, so news officially.

Speaker 7 (01:05:08):
Nausey Harris of the Chargers has officially gone down with
the Achilles injury.

Speaker 8 (01:05:12):
A second.

Speaker 7 (01:05:13):
You know, I feel like now as a society, we
see somebody goes down with like a non contact we're
just all like kind of like kind of shiver and
we're like, oh, it's probably an achilles, Like.

Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
Well, you can you can see the Achilles, like you
can see the thing pop in the back of the sock.

Speaker 3 (01:05:28):
And there's so many Twitter.

Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
Doctors now who are like, yeah, that's yep, that's the
end of that.

Speaker 3 (01:05:33):
So yeah, I think we knew that one right away.

Speaker 7 (01:05:35):
Yeah, it's a bummer room, ar Marion Hampton. I think
we'll definitely be getting a lot more caries. Actually, I
didn't draft him in any of my fantasy leagues this year,
so I'm a little bummed about that. The Chargers edge
of the Broncos twenty three to twenty. They are three
to oo for the first time in twenty three years,
and like you said, the Chiefs have a six zero
lead over the Giants almost going into halftime. The Colt

(01:05:58):
shut out the Titans forty one to twenty. They are
also three zho for the first time since two thousand
and nine and the only undefeated team in the AFC South.
Jonathan Taylor ran for one hundred and two yards and
three touchdowns. The Steelers outscored the Patriots twenty one to fourteen.
The Eagles defeated the Rams thirty three to twenty six,
and then in oh yeah, and then the Jaguars defeated

(01:06:19):
the Texanans seventeen to ten. The Texans are the only
team in the last twenty seasons to start zero to
three despite allowing fewer than fifty five points, which I'm
not sure how that like correlates, but they're rough. That's
a rough team. I know you guys were talking about them,
but I saw that stat and I'm.

Speaker 8 (01:06:35):
Like, that's that's ugly. That is ugly.

Speaker 7 (01:06:38):
In Major League Baseball, cal Rawly has scored his fifty
eighth home run of the season, and in the WNBA
Semi Finals, the Fever took Game one against the Aces
eighty nine to seventy three. Aces star Asia Wilson has
won the twenty twenty five WNBA MVP Award and the
Linkswan Game one eighty two to sixty nine against the Mercury.

Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
Back to you guys, okay, Brianda, good stuff. The Giants
are now down into the red zone. Penalties on the Chiefs.
Keep pushing this thing alive.

Speaker 1 (01:07:10):
Oh unlike them? Right?

Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
Boy, they love I can't recognize them and the only
thing I can recognize is the frustration on all their faces. Yeah,
and that's what I think is really going to get
them this year is it's not just that they look bad,
but it's how not used to this they are.

Speaker 3 (01:07:30):
And they're not going to be able to I don't
think they're canna be able to handle it. Well.

Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
We already like they're already the coach and the tight
end are shoving each other on the sideline.

Speaker 4 (01:07:39):
This kid Scatabo, Yes, I love them, Cam Scataboo from
Arizona State. I loved him because he was an everything guy.
I believe he had over seventeen hundred yards rushing and
over six hundred yards receiving or something like that. And

(01:08:00):
I was looking at him. I was watching the Arizona
State game and I was like, this kid is unbelieved.
He's one of those hard nos YEP true football players.
Man and he's gonna give you everything he got. And
now with I believe Tracy hurt his arms up and
guess what just happened?

Speaker 3 (01:08:19):
I yeah, that extra point is what?

Speaker 1 (01:08:24):
Just what happened?

Speaker 3 (01:08:25):
Touch your man? Like? What are we doing out?

Speaker 1 (01:08:29):
You can't even do it?

Speaker 3 (01:08:31):
Man? Do y'all look like middle school dance? Nobody will
touch each other.

Speaker 1 (01:08:35):
Nobody was win games.

Speaker 3 (01:08:37):
Come on, they got to touch the man. This is
football anyway. All right?

Speaker 2 (01:08:44):
Well, hey, you know what I want to ask you
since you brought up the whole going for it on
fourth down thing, because I'm sitting there with my wife
watching the Niners Cardinals game and I was like, oh,
this is a tough one. I wonder what he from thinks.
So the Niners go all the way down to the
one yard line and it's a tie. Game is six
to six, and it's like early fourth quarter. But nobody's

(01:09:07):
moving the ball real well, right, because you know, James
Connor's hurt, and brock Perty's hurt, George Kittle's hurt, Juwan
Jenny's hurt, Marvin Harrison can't catch a ball. We'll talk
about him a little bit later. That should have been
one of my three things by the way, good lord,
that player, but anyway you get all the way down
on the one, and mac Jones is also like limping,

(01:09:28):
like he could barely walk right, So they handed off
on third down on a stretch play. He barely could
get the ball to Christian McCaffrey. Phil he dove because
he knew he couldn't run, so he and Kristin gets
stuffed because everybody in the whole building knew it was
going to Christian.

Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
All right, So it's fourth and one and it's six
to six, and what do you do?

Speaker 1 (01:09:55):
Would you have done? You would have you know why?

Speaker 3 (01:09:59):
Why?

Speaker 4 (01:10:00):
Because points were a premium in that game, correct, So
you have to understand that now you can go if
we get a touchdown, we can take it away and
we can really submit our no no, no, no no.
What you do is offensively. My job is to put

(01:10:20):
pressure on your offense. My job is to make your
offense have to push. Our job is to put points
on the board so your offense can't be comfortable. And
if they're not comfortable and they're pushing, then that's when

(01:10:43):
mistakes happen. That's the psychology of coaching and making these decisions,
not the analytics. That's the psychology of it.

Speaker 2 (01:10:55):
The tough one for me though, it was the first
of all, like I get you know, is fourth and one.

Speaker 3 (01:11:02):
The play call was weird.

Speaker 2 (01:11:03):
They actually dropped mac back in a pass and he
knew he had to get rid of the ball right away,
and he got rid of it too early, and he
hit Christian in the back of the head and he
got Christins got his head driven into the ground. But
if you don't get it, well, then then the Cardinals
have the ball at the one. And by the way,
they did come within a hair of a safety.

Speaker 1 (01:11:26):
Yeah, but they didn't get it.

Speaker 3 (01:11:27):
They didn't get it.

Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
Okay, so but then you punt and you get a
short field and they did turned out into a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (01:11:36):
Yeah, but you don't.

Speaker 4 (01:11:38):
What I'm saying is in a game where points are
a premium, take the points.

Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
Yeah. No, I like that was one that that one
was tricky. I was like, I could really see both
sides of this argument, and I wondered, what you thought.

Speaker 1 (01:11:53):
I need the I need those points.

Speaker 4 (01:11:55):
Yeah, I have a backup quarterback, I have I have
one receiver, right, I have one receiver, and.

Speaker 3 (01:12:01):
My goodness, does he look good?

Speaker 4 (01:12:03):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:12:04):
He not a Mecca Buka. But if y'all haven't seen
Rick Ky Pearsol play playing, he's playing ole Man. He
looks good, he's playing. So with all that said, I
know I'm at a disadvantage. And for the long run,
the game ended up being two points a two point game,
one point at one point ye right, yeah, one point game.
That's at the buzzer by one point, so that think

(01:12:26):
about the three Yeah, no, I like in that moment,
but I also know who.

Speaker 3 (01:12:34):
You can't let this get to you, but it's going
to get to you. You're a human being.

Speaker 1 (01:12:38):
For crying out loud, How did that just happen?

Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
Oh my god, how.

Speaker 1 (01:12:42):
Did he get that ball back from them?

Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
Okay, what the hell was that? Okay, Patrick Mahomes just
threw the ball back pack.

Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
Mahomes is a superhero, because that was crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
He's a superhero. But what the hell was Like, why
don't throw that.

Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
The second time? This is the second time he's done that.

Speaker 3 (01:12:56):
So he threw the ball backwards and he kind of
threw it into.

Speaker 4 (01:12:58):
The ground and Giants had an opportunity to scoop it
and score a touchdown. Yeah with one with Pacheco. The
only uh, the only chief there, I mean, fifty eight
picks it up for it has the ball and Patrick
just tend here into the end zone and Patrick Mahomes just.

Speaker 2 (01:13:21):
Takes it out of it, take it right back of
his hand, just takes out of his hand. I get
that's on the five yard line. Good hustle player by Patrick.
You know what if I'm the Chiefs, good lord man,
I'm gonna I'm going to ask whether or not there
was a change of possession there. Oh, I would yes,
because then his first intendance to twenty five. Yep, that's
what I would do. But you can't review or you
can't throw a hanky. There's a minute twenty four to go. Anyway, boy,

(01:13:43):
did the Chiefs look out of sink?

Speaker 1 (01:13:44):
What did I say at the beginning of this thing? Yeah? Yeah,
And here we are tied up.

Speaker 3 (01:13:50):
I don't want to leave this game yet.

Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
And I'm talking about the Niner Cardinal game because I
do want to talk to you about Marvin Harrison. I
want to talk to you about Marvin Harrison Junior. So
we will do that coming up next. We are in
the Fox Sports radio studios, and a reminder that this
isn't just a game, it's a once in a generation event,

(01:14:11):

Speaker 3 (01:14:25):
This is Fox Sports Radio All. We sit here.

Speaker 2 (01:14:31):
Live in the Fox Sports Radio studios with you from Salam.

Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
I'm Mark Willard. What the hell is going on in
this game?

Speaker 4 (01:14:42):
We got to turn this off? Man, We can't watch
this man.

Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
I mean, the Chiefs are just handing things to the Giants,
and the Giants don't want any of them. They want
to give it back, they don't want any of them.
And so they just moved to the red zone. Now
with fifty second it's left to go in the half,
and Russell Wilson threw a ball to Elak Neighbors in
the court of the end zone. He was never there.
The ball was about five seconds late and it was

(01:15:10):
picked off again. And now Brian Burns looks hurt. So yeah,
we'll keep uh, we'll.

Speaker 3 (01:15:21):
Keep you up today. Six forty six seconds ago, how
would you.

Speaker 1 (01:15:27):
And I'm just throwing it out there, would you be like,
we need a change.

Speaker 3 (01:15:35):
At coach?

Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
No, No, No, at quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:15:38):
If I were the Giants or the Chiefs the right
the Giants right now, I don't know. They both look
like crap tonight.

Speaker 3 (01:15:47):
Yeah you know that. Look. Of course the Giants are
going to make a change, but not yet.

Speaker 1 (01:15:52):
I understand that in this game.

Speaker 4 (01:15:55):
What I'm saying is something has to change. Russell Wilson
is coming to this game and been in scoring territory,
and all he's there's no intermediate passes, no, everything is
the moon ball, as they call it. All he's doing

(01:16:16):
is just lobbing the ball in the air down the field.
There's no cross seam routes, there's no outs, they're no comebacks.
And so I'm like, I don't understand what's going on.

Speaker 2 (01:16:28):
I like the one thing about Russell that started to
happen about two three years ago in his career, and
it's very odd.

Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
I don't get it because there's a Super Bowl champion,
like he doesn't see it anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:16:42):
It's not about arm strength, it's not about like his
decision making is beyond head scratching poor, just beyond and
that last throw there was another example where you're just like,
what on earth did you even.

Speaker 3 (01:16:55):
Think that you saw? Why would you throw that? I
have no idea. I have no idea.

Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
The same happened with the interception earlier.

Speaker 3 (01:17:04):
Yep, yeah, I have no idea, Like.

Speaker 4 (01:17:06):
There is and I don't know. And that's why I'm saying,
is it the play calling? Because they're not even running routes.

Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
Right? How about a play action roll?

Speaker 4 (01:17:18):
You know, crossers, the three level crossers right, like, there
is no design to the offense whatsoever.

Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
And I get that he's older though, but the Russell
Wilson that did really well in this league, no matter
what that play call is, when it's not there, what
would he do?

Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
Just go?

Speaker 10 (01:17:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
Just go?

Speaker 3 (01:17:39):
So so come on, man, Like that's what made you.

Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
We used to call it devil magic here in San
Francisco because you couldn't get that guy off the field
on a third down because he would do something.

Speaker 1 (01:17:51):
Now he's sprinting off the field.

Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
Now he just like way, he's just playing three flags
up out there and then yeah, just get off the field.

Speaker 3 (01:18:03):
It's a weird.

Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
Look.

Speaker 4 (01:18:05):
It's a head scratcher for me totally, And I really
don't know what it is I'm I'm watching the offense
and I'm like what. That's why I'm saying, do you
make the change because obviously there will be a different
energy and there are a different set of plays some
things you wouldn't call for Jackson Dart that you right, Like,
so your playbook shrinks down a little bit, it.

Speaker 3 (01:18:26):
Does, But is that what it needs? Maybe? But this
and I get it, like, but this is tricky.

Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
You're the one who taught me this, right, Like, we
got a first round draft pick and our landing spot
is going to be halftime of Sunday Night Football followed
by the Chargers next week.

Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know you want your first like it.
You're not winning the division for crying out loud.

Speaker 2 (01:18:48):
So anyway, by the way, while we're on head scratching
and we can talk a little bit more about this
next hour two. I always think that the word bust
needs to be used at the right time. You really
have to have exhausted some things and some time in
the league, and so I don't like using that word
before it's time. So I'm not going to use it here.

(01:19:09):
But Marvin Harrison Junior is a tremendous disappointment. So far
just tremendous, the fourth pick in the draft. They ask
Kyler Murray every week why he doesn't get more targets,
and Kyler always gives that NFL coach speak answer of like.

Speaker 3 (01:19:24):
Wow, you know, I mean, we spread it around.

Speaker 2 (01:19:25):
We're an offense here, and you know, sometimes you get
eleven targets and sometimes you get four. No, Marvin always
gets four. And now I know why, Like what, I
don't know if because it can't catch? Man, Like does
a can't catch the balls that he dropped today, one
of them in the end zone and one of them
in the middle of the field where he was literally
the only person on my TV screen.

Speaker 1 (01:19:47):
Unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
I like coverage and the ball went through his hands.
It didn't hit him until he hit his chest. I
just I don't, I don't know what to do. Every
Like the name values amazing, the college career is amazing,
He's got all the measurables.

Speaker 3 (01:20:04):
He just not that good, at least not yet. It
just isn't.

Speaker 4 (01:20:10):
Yes, you're absolutely right, and you know you're pulling for him.
But I mean, the one thing you should be able
to do as a receiver, especially if you're picked in
the top five it's catch the ball. I mean that
should Maybe your routes aren't there yet to the pro level,

(01:20:34):
but you should be able to catch the ball. Oh,
Patrick Mahomes almost gave it back.

Speaker 1 (01:20:41):
Catch the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:20:42):
I can't, especially when it's floating into your hands like that.
All Right, we got a lot of games still to
get to and we will the heat from everybody's hot take.

Speaker 3 (01:20:54):
It's time. I'm gonna pour ice water all over it.

Speaker 2 (01:20:58):
It's time for the ice bucket Challenge in fact, and
I'll explain the hot take that is no longer hot.
We're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios, good evening,
all across the land, Week three of the National Football League,
every single angle of it, including the Sunday night game
that we're watching that I'm sure NBC is like, can

(01:21:21):
we revisit this? This is one of the worst football
games I've ever watched in my entire life.

Speaker 3 (01:21:26):
It's halftime, the Chiefs lead nine to six.

Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
I have no idea what either team is doing, and
it made me go onto the internet. Ephraim, do you
know last time there was a touchdown and the extra
point kicked on a Sunday night football.

Speaker 1 (01:21:42):
Game when.

Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
Just inside of the four minute mark of Week one
between the Bills and the Ravens. It was when the
Bills cut it to forty to thirty two. It was
just before Derrick Henry was going to go out on
the field and fumble and ruin what had been a
wonderful game for him and Lamar Jackson. Obviously, they didn't
use the end zones last week between the Falcons and

(01:22:13):
the Vikings, and they barely used them so far tonight.
And when they did, the extra point got blocked. So
nine to six Chiefs lead this one. That was the
longest last minute and a half of a half I
ever saved.

Speaker 4 (01:22:24):
Very difficult to watch two teams try to give games away.

Speaker 3 (01:22:28):
Wow, just wow. And so you were one of them.
I was one of them.

Speaker 2 (01:22:36):
And I know a bunch of other people in our
business who had this hot take before the season started,
And I'm sorry, it's just not hot anymore.

Speaker 3 (01:22:47):
And the take was one of two things.

Speaker 2 (01:22:50):
Either the Chiefs are not winning the division this year,
or the Chiefs are not making the playoffs this year.
That is no longer a hot take that is now
officially arrived at everybody thinks that, Yeah, I think Andy
Reid thinks that right.

Speaker 1 (01:23:06):
Now, I think he knows. I think he knows.

Speaker 2 (01:23:12):
This is not a championship level football team. This is
not a playoff level football team, and they are flirting
with disaster if they can't win this football game tonight.
Do not make me give you the analytics of zero
and three teams. I don't need to tell you they
don't make the playoffs period.

Speaker 3 (01:23:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:23:32):
I think it lends to what we were talking about
at the beginning of the game. Like you asked me,
you know how the Chiefs in trouble, and I was like, no,
they are in trouble, and they're in trouble with this
game because they're not they're not asserting themselves as a
dominant team. So when you allow teams who on paper

(01:23:58):
and shouldn't be as good as you to hang around,
you open yourself up to anything happening.

Speaker 1 (01:24:05):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:24:06):
Subsequently, enough, last year they mastered the art of coming
out ahead in those games like right now, what we
just watched Patrick Mahomes get the ball and get penalties

(01:24:26):
that extended drives and put them into the scoring position.
The flip side of that is they just did the
same thing for the Giants and had them in scoring position.
But Russell Wilson, who I would not bring out and
let start the second half? Would I'm definitive. I remember,
I know I asked you the question. I asked you,

(01:24:48):
would you make the change. I'm going to say as
the coach, I'm going to make the change because our
offense is stagnant and we need something to give us
a boost. And so I'm going to make the change
at home against a subpar Chiefs team and let this
young rookie go out there and see if he can
put a spark or give us a spark.

Speaker 3 (01:25:09):
Well, yeah, it's interesting to see what Dave Ball will do.

Speaker 2 (01:25:13):
I get it. I feel where you're coming from. I
think it's a tough spot for the rookie. The Chiefs
defense is still a solid group. The Chargers are coming
to town next week, You've got New Orleans in two weeks.
Two weeks from today, you'll play the Saints. And that
feels like a real good spot for Jackson. Dark But
if the guy is that dude, then then let's go
see it. Let's go be that dude, because you're only

(01:25:34):
down by three. And if for his first act, he
comes out on Sunday Night Football and rallies the team
to a win over the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (01:25:42):
That's gonna be remembered forever, no matter what he does
next week against the Chargers.

Speaker 4 (01:25:47):
Yeah, it's time. Yeah, right, it's time. It's time to start,
you know, making the change. I can't say it any
of the type of way because it's hard to watch
now he was on the heater last week and end
up giving the game away. Speaking of Russell Wilson, I

(01:26:11):
respect Russ what he's done, but you spend a first
round draft pick on a quarterback who's shown that he
has a skill set this tangible this year, then look,
we just I think this is the only way you
really get to save your job. Yeah, I really do.

(01:26:32):
I think this is the only way you get to
save your job.

Speaker 2 (01:26:36):
Yeah, you're probably right, you know what I mean. Like
you can do the placeholder thing for.

Speaker 4 (01:26:41):
So long, you have to show Look, I'm going to
make an initiative. I'm going like, you have to show
that you're willing to make the change for the better
of the team. That is showing ownership, leadership, Like don't
just be sitting in I'm sure they've all sat room
and talked and what we need to do and what

(01:27:02):
will be best for him. But I'm like, yeah, we
need something different. Now we go out here and get
blown out by the Chiefs. Okay, right, but I don't
see the Chiefs blowing anybody out. But I know one
thing Jason Dark is mobile.

Speaker 3 (01:27:17):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (01:27:17):
He can get himself out of trouble.

Speaker 3 (01:27:19):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:27:19):
He can use his legs. If you're down, you're starting
running back. I would add that element, maybe some read
option now, like I would add those type of things
into the game plan to help our team.

Speaker 2 (01:27:33):
Well, I'm going to join you in your opinion, just
because I would like the second half to be finding
something good.

Speaker 3 (01:27:39):
Lord, can we do something here, honestly?

Speaker 2 (01:27:42):
Like you and I we slogged through that Vikings Falcons
game last week, and this one's.

Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
Way worse, way worse. It's way worse, you know what's wild.

Speaker 2 (01:27:53):
I'd love to do this with you for a sec
because it'll allow us to bounce around.

Speaker 3 (01:27:56):
To some of the games.

Speaker 2 (01:27:56):
And I know we haven't talked about Danny Dimes yet,
and we have not talked about that Eagles Rams game
where the Eagles scored Let me see if I can
count them up real quick. I think it was twenty
six unanswered points and won the football game thirty three
to twenty six on the on the last play.

Speaker 3 (01:28:11):
Two two and Ozero teams getting together. It is wild.

Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
We're only three weeks in Ephraim and it's wild how
many divisions I can look at And I feel I
could be wrong, but I feel like I can already
tell you who's gonna win that division. I can already
tell you, and in some cases it's not the team
I was gonna pick. So this isn't me just like,

(01:28:36):
this isn't confirmation bias, this is just look at the
way things are going. New England, as it turns out,
is not a threat at all. The Bills have won
that division. It's over.

Speaker 1 (01:28:46):
It's they're done.

Speaker 3 (01:28:48):
Can you see.

Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
Anyone winning the AFC North not named the Baltimore Ravens?
Now that especially, you know what's happened to Joe Burrow?

Speaker 1 (01:28:55):
Nope?

Speaker 2 (01:28:56):
Is the AFC South already to be given to the
Indianapolis Corps.

Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
Hand it to them on the back.

Speaker 2 (01:29:01):
And the AFC West, which I would argue I thought
was going to be really deep and well coached across
the board.

Speaker 3 (01:29:08):
So far, I'm looking at one really.

Speaker 2 (01:29:10):
Good team, one team I still believe in, even though
I'm mildly disappointed, and two teams who I thought would
at least be a threat and aren't. Like, I don't
think the Chargers have already quote won the division. They've
got a two game lead no matter what happens, and
the Chiefs don't look like a threat.

Speaker 3 (01:29:30):
The Raiders, sorry, that's not actually a thing.

Speaker 2 (01:29:33):
And Denver can give you a fight, but they've kind
of gotten wonkey to start the season and they're one
and two.

Speaker 1 (01:29:39):
Yeah, I think the Charger is a clear favorite in
that division.

Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
All right, let's do the NFC. Do you give the
Commanders a chance? Or is that the Eagles division?

Speaker 4 (01:29:49):
I give the Well depends on depending on the health
of Jaydon Daniels, right, but I think I know, I
think the Eagles can be had. The Eagles, I'm not
sold on them because they're playing a dangerous game. They
finally really start passing the ball today, they had to

(01:30:12):
rams were really good against the run.

Speaker 1 (01:30:15):
Yep, But what does that look like in the long run.

Speaker 3 (01:30:20):
No, it's fair. I'll say this.

Speaker 2 (01:30:23):
I think that there are there are We've gone through
the entire AFC. I think there's an obvious choice to
win all four of those divisions. In the NFC, it's
a little different, but there's only one division where you'll
even give a snowballs chance in hell to more than
two teams, Like I would bet that in the NFC South,

(01:30:46):
you're pretty sure that Tampa Bay is winning the division.

Speaker 3 (01:30:49):
Okay, yeah, right, I know that this is fun.

Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
Carson wentz yippie do the North is going to be
either the Lions or the Packers.

Speaker 4 (01:30:57):
Yeah, I would have said the Packers before today. I
don't know what that was.

Speaker 2 (01:31:01):
Well, you know, going to Cleveland is weird. It's why
I refused to make that my Survivor pick. That finally
we had a survivor pick that got a bunch of people.

Speaker 3 (01:31:10):
I won't do it.

Speaker 2 (01:31:11):
I'm never ever going to pick a Survivor pick when
someone's in Cleveland. That's just a rule I have. Oh wow,
I ain't doing that. That's a hard place to play.
And they've got a good defense. They've got a good defense, right,
and oh yeah, that's weird, right, and that weird stuff
can happen, and it did again. Somebody's lining up for

(01:31:33):
a field goal for the last play of the game
in Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (01:31:35):
Every time there's a game there and it either goes
in or it doesn't, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
And and and so that's the North, the South, The
East is either the Eagles or the Commander's probably the Eagles.

Speaker 3 (01:31:51):
Okay, now do the West for me. I think I could.

Speaker 2 (01:31:55):
I could make an odd case for all four of them.

Speaker 1 (01:31:59):
Yeah. Yeah, it's uh, it's one of those.

Speaker 2 (01:32:08):
I'm like, yeah, right, it's what I said all along.
It's not the highest ceiling, but it's the highest floor. Yeah,
because there's no game off in that division.

Speaker 1 (01:32:20):
No, you gotta come with it.

Speaker 3 (01:32:22):
Every time you play one of them.

Speaker 4 (01:32:23):
Well, it's the only division where everybody's above that has
a winning record.

Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
Yep, they're all above five hundred. There's only three total
losses in the division. Two of them are forced because
they were against each other.

Speaker 3 (01:32:35):
And the only.

Speaker 2 (01:32:36):
Out of division loss is what happened to the Rams
today when they blew a nineteen point lead and still
we're lining up to win the game with a field goal.

Speaker 1 (01:32:47):
Yeah, it's right. They had obviously they had the game.

Speaker 3 (01:32:50):
They had it. They had it. They had it the whole.

Speaker 1 (01:32:52):
Day, Yeah, the whole day. And so.

Speaker 4 (01:32:57):
Yeah, that's that's uh. I guess you can call it
a coin flip. I mean, and it depends on that that.
The real health of the San Francisco forty nine Ers,
I think is going to be a big part of that.
Hey man, I think Kirk Cousins has found another home
in Seattle. You know, I just think, uh now, Donald,

(01:33:22):
excuse me, Donald.

Speaker 3 (01:33:23):
Because we do need we need to talk about Kirk.

Speaker 4 (01:33:25):
But Sam Donald, it's now granted it's the Saints, but
I mean, he's he's he's cooking, he's he's picking up
where where he left off and and you know, he's
got that team moving in the right direction.

Speaker 3 (01:33:46):
Right.

Speaker 4 (01:33:47):
They're putting up points on the board. The only game
they struggled was the Ers, but that's a tough game,
even at home for the Niners. Historically it's been.

Speaker 3 (01:33:59):
All for deffenses look fantastic.

Speaker 2 (01:34:02):
Yes, the forty nine Ers already have two division wins
in hand and they're three and zero. Yet they are
averaging under twenty points per game.

Speaker 1 (01:34:12):
They that's that Robert Sala.

Speaker 3 (01:34:14):
Robert Sala.

Speaker 2 (01:34:15):
And on the defensive side of the ball, except for
what happened to Boasta today and we're still waiting for
information on that, that side of the ball has largely
been healthy but no brock Party for two of your
three games, No George Kittle for two and a half
of your three games, No Juwan Jennings today.

Speaker 1 (01:34:34):
And you've managed to be three and.

Speaker 3 (01:34:35):
A one and they're three and freaking oh.

Speaker 1 (01:34:38):
And we know Brockets probably coming back next week.

Speaker 2 (01:34:41):
That's the word, which is good because Mac Jones got
hurt today too. He aggravated a PCL injury and he
couldn't walk there at the end of the game.

Speaker 3 (01:34:49):
And you know, but he led, he led a die. Yeah, man, he.

Speaker 2 (01:34:53):
Led a drive that started on his own twenty with
a minute and a half to go, which is, by
the way, Kyle's Shanahan's big bugaboo right is coming from
behind in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 3 (01:35:07):
Miraculous that they're three and zero.

Speaker 2 (01:35:09):
And when you consider if they're just given relative health
in the second half of the season and playing their
fourth place schedule.

Speaker 4 (01:35:17):
Yeah, well we projected that because of the strength of
there are the lack of strength in their schedule.

Speaker 1 (01:35:24):
So you know, they're.

Speaker 4 (01:35:28):
They're going there moving along according to to to the
plan that we talked about uh before the season started,
with their the the ease of their schedule and these
first games they should be winning, which they are. They
should win the Jacksonville game. The Jacks come all the
way out here. That Rams game is gonna be tough.
It always is, yep.

Speaker 1 (01:35:50):
And then but that Buccaneers game is gonna be.

Speaker 3 (01:35:53):
That's gonna be. That's gonna be light that thing out.

Speaker 1 (01:35:55):
That's gonna be amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:35:56):
But then you got the the Falcons, the Texans in
the Giants good lord.

Speaker 3 (01:36:01):
Which yeah, by the way, that that was like the.

Speaker 2 (01:36:04):
Stretch of schedule that you tried in your mind to
be like, that's the tough stretch was when they those
four that you just said in a row, which is
the Rams followed by the Bucks and then the other
two games that come right after that, in theory looked hard.

Speaker 1 (01:36:22):
Yeah, but not at Atlanta and Houston. Not now.

Speaker 2 (01:36:25):
And you're like, oh, never mind that not hard, never
mind No so and uh, you know the only thing
that looks harder now than it did before the season
is in December, just before Christmas, they've got to go
to Indianapolis.

Speaker 1 (01:36:43):
Yeah, that's game. Yeah, that's a long time from that's
a long long.

Speaker 3 (01:36:47):
So, and speaking of them, let's let's do it.

Speaker 2 (01:36:49):
So we talk a little Danny Dimes and a little
Kirk cousin, because these things need to be.

Speaker 3 (01:36:55):
Uh talked out for sure. The colts are are three
and oher. Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:36:58):

Speaker 3 (01:37:41):
Okay, so now talk to me, because Russell.

Speaker 1 (01:37:45):
Wilson did start in there.

Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
Man, Russell Wilson started the second half there. He scrambled
for a first down and then he ran off the
field so that Jackson Dart could come out and do
one designed play.

Speaker 4 (01:38:00):
They just doing this all wrong. Man, this now this
will get you fired.

Speaker 3 (01:38:04):
Well to me, it feels like we're being trolled.

Speaker 4 (01:38:06):
This will get you fired, seriously, like this will this
is these the types of things being this disjointed, no cohesive,
and that this will get you fired because now it
seems like you're just grasping his straws trying to figure
something out as Russell Wilson gets sacked.

Speaker 3 (01:38:25):
Yep, man.

Speaker 2 (01:38:28):
And by the way, we also want to let you know,
the Chiefs on their opening driving the second half did
two things. One will score a touchdown and the other
one was take half of the quarter to do it.

Speaker 3 (01:38:38):
So and just like that, yep, yep, just like that.

Speaker 2 (01:38:42):
So yeah, uh incredible. So like I, you know what,
this is a complete side thought. We'll keep working on
this game right now, but like do we have to well, no.

Speaker 3 (01:38:56):
We don't have to. The you know what.

Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
One of the thoughts that goes through my head when
I watched the New York Giants, especially on offense, perform
like this. I look at the Cowboys and I go whoa, whoa,
because this Giants offense, this is how they looked Week
one against Washington.

Speaker 3 (01:39:21):
Yeah, and this is how they look now.

Speaker 2 (01:39:23):
But last week against Dallas, they looked like an absolute
smoke show. So that's why I showed it that the
Cowboys are just like, we need to do that. And
that is placed the Cowboys on that list of the
worst teams in football.

Speaker 1 (01:39:41):
That's how bad they They are.

Speaker 2 (01:39:43):
Right next to whether you want to talk about New
Orleans or you know whatever team the Miami Dolphins, the
Cleveland Browns, the Tennessee Titans, the New York Giants, the
Dallas Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (01:40:01):
Right there, they all belong rite exactly where we have them.

Speaker 3 (01:40:06):
I mean, the Bears took him apart. The Bears.

Speaker 2 (01:40:11):
Bears, all right today today, I'm not gonna fall for
that banana.

Speaker 1 (01:40:16):
No, no, no, no, no, no. We're not gonna do the banana.

Speaker 3 (01:40:18):
Because they're playing Dallas.

Speaker 1 (01:40:19):
You're not gonna fall.

Speaker 10 (01:40:20):
For the banana in the tailpape, That's correct.

Speaker 3 (01:40:26):
We're not gonna fall for the banana and the tailpipe.

Speaker 2 (01:40:28):
Well, okay, but tell me this then, is Daniel Jones
a banana and the tailpipe?

Speaker 1 (01:40:33):
No, talk to me, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (01:40:36):
And you know why he's not the banana and the
tailpipe because watching him have full control of the team
in the offense, something we never really saw in New York,
never really saw it.

Speaker 1 (01:40:56):
That was a heavy Saquon Barkley led team.

Speaker 3 (01:41:00):
M hm.

Speaker 4 (01:41:01):
That's where the leadership was and that's where the reliance was,
and so Daniel Jones was literally along for the ride.

Speaker 1 (01:41:13):
I don't think have the Indianapolis Coats punted?

Speaker 3 (01:41:20):
They had not coming into today.

Speaker 1 (01:41:22):
I don't know if they had a punt.

Speaker 2 (01:41:24):
I'm looking right now, Okay, we'll find out for you.

Speaker 3 (01:41:36):
They did what they had. His name is Sanchez.

Speaker 1 (01:41:40):
Sanchez.

Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
He has punted once this year, one time. I mean,
I'm glad that he punted today because this was a
road trip and that would have been a waste of
a plane ticket.

Speaker 1 (01:41:53):
Right, just stay back home, yeah, stay back.

Speaker 3 (01:41:56):
I don't use.

Speaker 4 (01:41:56):
Him, right, And it's not like, I mean eighteen for
twenty five to twenty eight nine yards to pass a touchdown,
no sacks.

Speaker 3 (01:42:08):
Like rush for twenty seven right, Like this.

Speaker 4 (01:42:12):
Is someone who's comfortable in an offense and is running
the offense, not letting the offense run them. Now, Jonathan
Taylor huge part of that, But when asked to pass
the ball, Daniel Jones looks completely different.

Speaker 1 (01:42:28):
Than he's ever looked, even in the playoff year in
New York. And so.

Speaker 4 (01:42:35):
For me, I've seen enough. And the way they're putting
up points now good Look. People will be like, well,
you know the Colts, I mean the Titans, the Dolphins,
the Broncos.

Speaker 1 (01:42:53):
Broncos a good team.

Speaker 3 (01:42:53):
Bronco is a good team and particularly a good defense.

Speaker 1 (01:42:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:42:57):
And he threw for three hundred and sixteen yards.

Speaker 4 (01:43:00):
Forty one points, thirty three points, twenty nine points.

Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:43:06):
There he's slinging this thing. And so now you're like, huh.
He had an opportunity to compete for a job in
training camp. He won that job over Richardson, and now
he's taking his name back. We saw it with Kirk Cousins.

(01:43:29):
We saw it with Sam Donald, Baker Mayfield, Gino Smith.
Very few people have an opportunity to reclaim their name
and stamp it with a different tag, right. Baker Mayfield

(01:43:52):
is not a backup quarterback. He's a starting quarterback. He's
a top tier quarterback. Sam Donald's not a backup, although
both have spent a couple of years being backups. Gino
Smith is not a backup, although he spent a couple
of years being a backup, trying to figure out if
this thing is still okay, is he's still gonna get

(01:44:14):
a shot, And so, you know, I applaud guys who
can reclaim their names. I think it's important. I think
sports is not linear. I don't think the approach to
success is the same for everyone. Everyone's not gonna come

(01:44:36):
into a situation like Patrick Mahomes did.

Speaker 1 (01:44:42):
They're not.

Speaker 4 (01:44:44):
You're gonna have to fight through the muck, and even
if you do change a situation, the team still may
get rid of you Browns and Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 2 (01:44:56):
I wonder if Brianna Muro feels that way right now,
fighting through the muck. I mean, I know she's like, yeah, right,
like she feels like Jackson Dart like you gonna you,
You're gonna put me in or.

Speaker 3 (01:45:07):
What she is?

Speaker 8 (01:45:10):
Yeah, that's rough.

Speaker 7 (01:45:11):
Guys, Like I don't I'm watching Jackson jar just kind
of like hanging out, and I'm like, what do I
wish he would have been a saint? Like I don't know,
I don't know you, I don't know, That's what I'm saying.
I'm just saying, you know, you kind of just play
like revisionist history. Is that what that is when you
kind of just think back and you know, there's certain

(01:45:31):
things where you kind of think, you know, Patrick.

Speaker 8 (01:45:32):
Mahomes could have been a Saint. Did you guys know that?

Speaker 3 (01:45:35):
Well, there's a.

Speaker 2 (01:45:36):
Lot of teams that Patrick Mahomes could have been a
he could have been a fill in the blank.

Speaker 3 (01:45:39):
There's at least ten of them out there.

Speaker 8 (01:45:42):
Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, there's just a lot of
like what ifs. There's a lot of what ifs. But
you know, what isn't a what if?

Speaker 7 (01:45:49):
The Chargers are three and oh for the first time
in twenty three years. I guess the what if is
going to be like what happens in the postseason for them?
But yeah, they're three and O. They edge the Broncos
a twenty three to twenty. Coach Jim Harbough officially now
Snaji Harris out with a torn achilles the forty nine
Ers edge of the Cardinals sixteen to fifteen after an
Eddie Pinero thirty five yard walk off field goal. Nick

(01:46:11):
Bosa did avoid an ACL injury, so that's good news,
but mac Jones did aggurate reaggravate a PCL spign that
he suffered earlier this summer, so no idea how that'll impact.

Speaker 8 (01:46:24):
Like the game plan going into next week.

Speaker 1 (01:46:26):
It'll be a broad Pardy Brock.

Speaker 8 (01:46:27):
Party will definitely be back, so that'll hopefully.

Speaker 7 (01:46:30):
The Browns handed the Packers their first loss of the season,
thirteen to ten. The colt shut out the Titans forty
one to twenty. The Vikings roll past the Bengals forty
to ten. Carson Wentz one hundred and seventy three yards
and two passing touchdowns. Coach Kevin O'Connell did confirm that
Carson Wentz will start again next week. The Steelers outscore
the Patriots twenty one to fourteen, and the Eagles defeated

(01:46:52):
the Rams thirty three to twenty six. In the WNBA
the semi Finals, the Fever took Game one against the
Aces eighty nine to seventy three. Acestar Asia Wilson has
won her fourth MVP Award, becoming the first player in
league history to do so, and the Links won Game
one eighty two to sixty nine against the Mercury. In

(01:47:13):
Major League Baseball, the Reds beat the Cubs one zero.
The Mets lost to the Nationals three to two, so
the Cincinnati and New York. They're tied for the final
wildcard spot in the NL, and the Reds have the
tiebreaker with the Chicago lost. The Brewers also clinched the
NL Central and Cal Rawly hit his fifty eighth home
run of this season after the Mariners defeated the Astros

(01:47:35):
seven to three.

Speaker 8 (01:47:36):
Thank you guys for real, going to hang out with
you for the night. Have a good one.

Speaker 3 (01:47:39):
Thank you, Brianta, thank you, great stuff, great work.

Speaker 2 (01:47:43):
Rianta Muro with us this evening here on Fox Sports Sunday.

Speaker 3 (01:47:48):
Mark wizard E from Salaam. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:47:51):
Backup quarterbacks. There were five of them today, yep. And
they went three and two. They went three and two
and in their football game.

Speaker 1 (01:47:58):
That was going to be one of my three things.

Speaker 4 (01:48:01):
But the value of a backup quarterback, like a real
backup quarterback, I think it's undervalued. I think it's one
of the most important positions on the field, especially if
you have a team that's competing. It could save your

(01:48:23):
season or it could sink it. And you know, Kyle
Shanahan and the forty nine ers have a way of
just getting guys to buy into a system and to
play like starters. And that's essentially What you want your
backup quarterback to do is play like starters, and Mac

(01:48:45):
Jones has done that two times now, yep. And there's
a big reason why they're three and noo. So just
to have that luxury that you know you can call
on that is tremendous.

Speaker 3 (01:49:04):
Well, here's my question.

Speaker 2 (01:49:06):
Is Carson Wentz signs in Minnesota, he gets a win there.

Speaker 3 (01:49:09):
I think that one was set up for him.

Speaker 2 (01:49:10):
The Bengals defense is terrible and now their offense is
kind of terrible too. Nothing against Jake Browning, but I
think that's going to be real, real hard for them
going forward. Marcus Mariota gets a victory in Washington over
the Raiders. I guess the question is, when we're talking
about all the backup quarterbacks around the league, why is
the name Kirk Cousins not coming out of our mouths.

(01:49:35):
Take a listen to this, and guys grabbed the piece
from Ian Rappaport early this morning where he's talking about
the situation around the league as quarterback injuries take place,
maybe also even some poor play in certain spots, and
is anybody looking at Kirk Cousins, who, by the way,

(01:49:57):
got into the game today. Now his team lost by
thirty points. I don't think they're moving away from Michael Pennix,
but listen to what Atlanta would like if they're gonna
let Kirk Cousins go.

Speaker 11 (01:50:08):
All these quarterback injuries, five backup quarterbacks starting today, no
one has called the Falcons about Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 3 (01:50:16):
Here's why.

Speaker 11 (01:50:17):
First of all, none of these injuries except for Joe
Burrow or a long term injury, and the Bengals are
simply going with Jake Browning and moving forward there. My
understanding is the Falcons would, in fact trade Kirk Cousins.
We're gonna ask for a lot in return and ask
for someone eat some salary and a premium pick just
because Richard the unbelievable value Cousins has as their backup

(01:50:38):
quarterback in case something happens to Michael Pennix.

Speaker 3 (01:50:41):
All right, so I got questions.

Speaker 2 (01:50:43):
Yeah, I mean they would like someone to eat salary
and deliver a premium pick in order to get Kirk Cousins.
So I can tell you right now, if that's actually true,
well then Kirk Cousins is not going.

Speaker 4 (01:50:59):
Anywhere themselves out They priced him out of the market,
and maybe that was by design. Not sure but yeah,
he's priced completely out of the market.

Speaker 3 (01:51:09):
I know what question people are going to ask. I
know what my answer would be.

Speaker 2 (01:51:12):
I'm curious to yours though, Like to the Falcons owe
it to him to get him.

Speaker 4 (01:51:15):
Out of there, I don't think organizations owe. I mean, like,
to be honest, Kirk Cousins is a good player, but
he's not Joe Montana, who the Niners didn't want, right,
He's not Brett Favre or green Bay. I mean Aaron

(01:51:37):
Rodgers who Green Bay didn't want.

Speaker 1 (01:51:39):
Right.

Speaker 4 (01:51:40):
Like, so when you go over the list of quarterbacks
that have changed teams, are left when they weren't ready.
And yeah, Kirk Cousins is a good player, but he
isn't old anything. Remember the Niners didn't want Jerry Rice,
the greatest receiver on any planet still, right, so there

(01:52:05):
is a time where the organization is going to run
itself like a business. And no, so there is nothing old,
especially not to Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 3 (01:52:17):
Yeah, I'm with you. Look, they owe his salary.

Speaker 4 (01:52:19):
You know what, they paid him the money, that's what
that's no, they are and they're still paying him the money.

Speaker 3 (01:52:24):
They owe his salary.

Speaker 2 (01:52:26):
And he got hurt and he played poorly and and
I mean you can go back.

Speaker 3 (01:52:31):
To the way this started, which is, was it fair to.

Speaker 2 (01:52:35):
Sign into a deal like that and then drop somebody
seventh overall? In his position, I don't know that it
was unfair. It's a little unorthodox. It's their money, Yep,
it's their money. I'm sure that that felt some kind
of way to Kirk. But I'm with you, And I'm
also kind of with what Ian Rappaport just said, which is,
if you do look around the league, I don't know

(01:52:56):
where the spot is that makes sense. There really isn't.
I guess Cincinnati would be people's first answer.

Speaker 1 (01:53:03):
They're not going to eat that XCIT money.

Speaker 2 (01:53:05):
No, and why like you might as well see what
what Jake Browning's got again, you might as well see
he's heading toward restricted free agency.

Speaker 3 (01:53:16):
Now we could we could arrive at a.

Speaker 2 (01:53:19):
Spot where something makes sense, but somebody's gonna have to
suffer a more significant injury and it's gonna have to
be a team that feels like they've got a shot
at the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (01:53:30):
Yeah, it'll come later as we get to the the
Joe Burrow thing. It was so early in the year.
You know what, I mean, like the Cincinnati even know
who they were. And so if you have a team
that's number one in the division and you know, vying

(01:53:51):
for a number one or two seat or the number
one seed to buy for the playoffs, and something horrific
happens to their signal callers, then I can see that.
And if this is, you know, pre trade deadline, I
can see someone you know, willing to pay the cost

(01:54:13):
to save what they've been working for all year. But
outside of that, I'm like, they're like, no, man, y'all
keep on paying that money and we'll figure it out
over here. Now, what I will say, there is a
bunch of viable backups, like we saw today three of
the five one games, and you know it's guess what,

(01:54:38):
Daniel Jones went to Indy to be a backup to compete.

Speaker 3 (01:54:42):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (01:54:42):
And just to be clear, it's been three games and
he is completing seventy one percent of his passes, has
three touchdowns, no interception, passing ready of one eleven and
if he just keeps on, I know it's a lot
to ask, but if he just keeps on, he's on

(01:55:06):
pace for forty six hundred yards.

Speaker 2 (01:55:10):
Yep. He's like he's leading the NFL in yards right now. Yeah,
oh yeah, leading ely yep, yep, there you go, so
you know, yeah, it's incredible. Yeah, we'll talk this out
a little bit more coming up next. In these Fox
Sports Radio studios. That is he from Salamba. I'm Mark Wheler.

(01:55:31):
This is Fox Sports Radio. So these are the Fox
Sports Radio studios. And that's he from Salam. That's my
friendly from Salami. I'm Mark Wheler. And plankets Man, you're
gonna be along here surely per Pole Ray Perpory, and
he from has accurately assessed that America would rather hear

(01:55:58):
him sing than watch the play from.

Speaker 3 (01:56:00):
Want to see Babing and the fool Ray.

Speaker 1 (01:56:06):
I wanted to be yo, we can love him.

Speaker 3 (01:56:14):
So Malik Neighbors caught a four yard.

Speaker 2 (01:56:18):
Pass, caught a four yard pass and then uh, and
then Russell did exactly what you sort of accused him
of earlier, which is just like, I don't know, man,
we don't have anything working, so I'm just gonna throw
the ball in the air where Malik is and quite frank,

(01:56:38):
I didn't even really think about this until what just transpired,
because Malik, I don't we don't have an update yet.

Speaker 3 (01:56:45):
But he went down.

Speaker 2 (01:56:46):
He got he got dinged up on a long play
into the end zone. We always think of when a
quarterback puts a receiver in danger, it's when you throw
high over the middle. But when you just throw these
up balls when he's not open, like, it's not like

(01:57:06):
he's going to try to go get the ball. Yeah,
And it really is not a good idea. It's putting
him in an unsafe position because bodies are flying at
one another like he's not open, he's not open, and
Russell's throwing it.

Speaker 1 (01:57:22):
To him and here we go. It's second and three.

Speaker 2 (01:57:26):
Jackson dark because Jackson Dart onto the field, it's a
good way to get fired.

Speaker 3 (01:57:29):
Yeah, yeah, well, I.

Speaker 2 (01:57:32):
Mean it's a good way to get It feels a little,
it feels a little inevitable. At this point, Neighbors has
not come back out on the field yet, and so, uh,
I'm sure.

Speaker 1 (01:57:44):
Uh, just let Jackson Dart stay in.

Speaker 3 (01:57:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:57:47):
If I was Jackson Dart when Russell was coming back out,
I would just wave wave him off. I would be like, no, no, no,
I'm good, I'm good, I'm good, And I would just
call everybody up to the line on.

Speaker 1 (01:57:56):
The line on the line. No, no, no, no, I'm good. I'm good.

Speaker 3 (01:57:58):
Well, it looks like they they are. He's staying in
for the moment.

Speaker 1 (01:58:03):
Let's see what happens.

Speaker 2 (01:58:05):
But but yeah, also, I'm sure a lot of our
listeners are gonna want an update on Eleague neighbors and
and the guy's coming up next will we'll have that
when it comes across. But he has not re entered
the game as of yet. But the Giants working their
way inside the ten yard line, now down sixteen to

(01:58:25):
six with under twelve minutes ago, in what can only
be described as a football game.

Speaker 4 (01:58:34):
A dentist appoint them up.

Speaker 10 (01:58:41):
That's up, man, that's cleaning. Yeah, yeah, the game. Okay,
Lea Melik's beg in Melik's beck in your update for you.
He would like the ball. He just waved a russ.
He would like the ball. And so there's that.

Speaker 3 (01:58:55):
Hey.

Speaker 2 (01:58:55):
You know what I feel like we kind of undersold
today is is there M's Eagles game?

Speaker 3 (01:59:01):
What's yeah? What'd you think? What'd you think?

Speaker 4 (01:59:08):
I thought it was a tell of two halves. I
thought the Rams were outstanding. I thought the Eagles were
exposed a little bit. And then on the flip side
of that, the Eagles show why they're the defending champions,
and that Jalen Hurts can actually pass the ball if

(01:59:31):
you know, if if need be.

Speaker 1 (01:59:34):
I think that saved.

Speaker 4 (01:59:36):
Them from uh from what was about the transpire if
they would have lost that game and and and and
not passed the ball to h.

Speaker 1 (01:59:47):
To AJJ Brown.

Speaker 3 (01:59:49):
Yeah, six catches, Devanta Smith had eight. They both scored.

Speaker 4 (01:59:52):
Yeah, so I think they've really gotten themselves. They bought
themselves some time. I don't think it's sustainable, but the
Rams took away to run for the most part, and
they forced them to pass the ball, and Jalen Hurd
stepped up to the table and did it.

Speaker 2 (02:00:08):
Sakuon Barkley averaged two point six yards per carry and
Saquon Barkley caught four balls and went for nine yards.

Speaker 4 (02:00:18):
Yeah, they were going to take him away. They b
no matter what, and see what Jalen Hurts could do.
And I think that's the rest. I think a lot
of teams are going to do that. And Jaylen did
a good job.

Speaker 2 (02:00:28):
He did two undred and twenty six yards, three touchdown throws,
no picks.

Speaker 1 (02:00:33):
They just ran the read option with Russell Wilson yeah,
and I'm out. I'm gone. I can't do that, all right.

Speaker 3 (02:00:41):
I'll see you for week four though. How about that?
What do week four? I did we week four? Next
week
