Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Sometimes the problem is right under your nose and you're
the last.

Speaker 1 (00:09):
One to know.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
I've certainly experienced that, anybody listening to us tonight. You
ever date someone and then when you break up, all
your friends and family are like, yeah, hello.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
We knew that was going the wrong way, you didn't
realize it.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
So I'd like to start with one certain team to
find out if there's actually a problem right underneath their nose.
We're broadcasted live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
And let's do this.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
It is week nine in the National Football League. Our
Sunday night watch party is about to begin.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Mark with it. Dene from Salam together again, My man,
how we doing?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
I'm doing great.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Do you like that one today?

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Oh it's been it's been a good well.

Speaker 2 (00:55):
Yes, congratulations to your Los Angeles Dodgers. I don't want
want to overlook that because that also, no matter who
you root for or what you wanted, there are sometimes
when a series just goes wow, that was like, that
was a great series.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
And I'm I'm I'm big enough to.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
Admit that even though you know, damn well, I draped
myself in a Canadian flag last night, but all good
the plays that were made, as that one went into
extra innings on the defensive side, and then Yamamoto pitching
the day after he pitched.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
I mean, how can you not be impressed? That was
pretty good stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:36):
Hey man, we could do the whole first hour on
the Dodger good thing, we wal, I understand, I'll save it. No,
thank you, thank you, Yeah you can it.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Just it's not hate in my heart.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
We root for who we root for, we root against
who we root again, am I What kind of a
Giants fan would I be if I was like, well, yeah, whatever.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Like I mean, hello, are you American? How about that?

Speaker 2 (02:04):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (02:04):
God, you know what? Universal healthcare sounds great.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
That's all I'm gonna say. That's all I'm gonna say.
But enough about that. The Chiefs lost, and that's good
for America too, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yes? Absolutely, Let's talk.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
About this for a second.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
That teams five and four and they're sitting in third place,
and I get that they sort of look like the
Chiefs again.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
So maybe that's enough to make people go, ah, no
big deal.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
But if we look around the framework of this whole thing,
that was about as bad as a day could go
for the Kansas City Chiefs because the Broncos winners, Chargers winners,
Jags winners, Bills winners, Patriots winners, Chiefs losers. That's about

(02:58):
as bad as it could have gone in the af
SEE today for Kansas City.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
Yeah, because I think they dropped to eighth, Right, I
think you're right, and I think you're right, only seven
get in.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
That's right, because yes, the right now the wildcard teams
would be the Buffalo Bills, the Los Angeles Chargers, and
the Jags, who are not only a half game in
front of the Chiefs. They've got a tiebreaker on the Chiefs,
as do the Buffalo Bills, as do the Los Angeles Chargers.
The other three wildcard teams that are looking up at
have all beaten them.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Yeah, it's we're in a situation where the thing that.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Is concerning we've seen them win without dynamic offensive output.
We've seen that. Yep, we've seen them make it to
the Super Bowl. We've seen them win a Super Bowl
without those gutdy numbers that we become so accustomed to.
But when the defense isn't clicking, that brings up something

(03:59):
else and you know it. Now, let's not overreact because
it is Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Yes, right, it's not like they went out lost to chief.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Right, right, So I don't want to overreact to Buffalo
beating the Chiefs again at home during the regular seasons.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Regular season, Yes, indeed.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
Right, it makes a difference. But I will say the
AFC is littered with contenders that we didn't expect, so
it puts them behind the eight ball earlier than one
would presume. And so now they're in a situation where

(04:45):
they can't afford any slip ups because I mean, everybody's coming.
I mean the Broncos, well, Patriots, Jaguars scratch, scratch my

(05:06):
head on the on the Jaguars.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
I don't think the Jaguars are all that good, but
they're there.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
They're they are chargers.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Thet all the teams did the coats and they stealers.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Like there's there's a log jam towards the top. Middle
is completely packed out and you can find yourself needing.
Was the last time Kansas City needed like the last
three games of the year.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
I can't remember the last time they weren't with their
feet up week seventeen, Week eighteen, playing that that wouldn't
necessarily get an opportunity right right, and and they hit
their bye week. Now, by the way, there is no
Chiefs game next week, but two weeks from today from
they will return from thereby and they will go straight

(05:54):
to Denver, Colorado.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Yeah, and this is and I know Andy Reid is
almost unbeatable, awful.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
I get it. But you got a pretty.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Decent stretch coming up with Broncos, Colts, Cowboys, Chiefs, I
mean Texan excuse me, Chargers, and then you get a
little bit of break after five weeks with the Titans,
and then you gotta do the Broncos again before you
finish up with the Raiders. And so there's a situation

(06:30):
where you can get to the last three and you
need that Broncos game sandwich between the Titans and the Raiders.
And for whatever reason, towards the end of the year,
the Raiders like to give the chief fits. So coming
down the stretch, now, each one of these AFC games

(06:50):
are going to be probably worth two for them.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Yeah, they're gonna they're gonna have to be at their
best coming out of the by and like you said,
there's a history of that, Okay, but I I mean, look,
these next two football games. You now take a five
and four record to Denver followed by hosting the Colts,
and I know the Colts didn't impress anybody today, we
can get to that game because it was interesting. If
you can figure out the Steelers, please tell me. I

(07:15):
can't figure out the Steelers. I don't really know exactly
who they are, but maybe the same team they always are.
They just don't look that great, but they're gonna find
their way to nine or ten wins and end up
in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
But the Chiefs are gonna have to use this bye.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
We can come out and play great football because if
they were to lose those next two games to Denver
and the Colts, they're gonna be in real trouble.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
So this is what I know, and anyone who watches
football and follows the games or the Chiefs, they can
champion this. The Chiefs have a problem when they can't
protect Mahomes. They were down at one point in this
game to one starter on the offensive line, and that's

(08:00):
Tray Smith and he just got back. He's missed the
last couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
And so.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
Once the right guard the left guard went out, they
had four backups and Trey in the game, and Patrick
Mahomes was under constant pressure. That's how you beat him
because if you don't get to him. He showed you

(08:28):
what happens when you don't get to him on a
fourth and seventeen you complete that pass, you have to
get to him there and if you can't get to him,
then good luck. But Buffalo had an excellent game plan.

(08:52):
They rushed in a way that wouldn't allow him to
have one of those spectacular Mahome run. It forced him
to stand the pocket. He stepped up in the pocket,
made some really big throws towards in the late parts
of the fourth quarter down the field, really big throws.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
And so it's one of those.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
Situations where if you want a chance at the Chiefs,
then you got to get that guy off his spot
because if you allow he's I mean, he's the best
in the business. Sure, he is the best in the business.
He had a bad statistical game today.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
Nineteen incompletions in this game, very rare.

Speaker 4 (09:36):
Did you get a snapshot of him completing under fifty
percent of his passes?

Speaker 2 (09:43):
Yeah, under fifty no touchdowns, threw a pick and it
was not one of those like, oh, that's not his
fault pick.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
It was a stupid pick.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Yes, huk the ball downfield for no reason, right into
the hands the Bills in.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
A critical moment.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
Yep, yeah, I got It's interesting, man. Like again, I'm
with you. It's at Buffalo, so this is all. It
is hard. This is a hard assignment today and I
get that. But the Chiefs they've won one road game
all year so far. You know, we're at the halfway
point kind of on the other side of it now
if you consider that they've played nine games. And here's

(10:18):
a take that's going to come from the fantasy football world.
But do you remember when whoever was in the backfield
for the Chiefs was a problem? Yes, for whoever had
to go against that fantasy team that week, it was
a problem. It was a problem the last time Kareem

(10:39):
Hunt used to be a bell cow back for the Chiefs.
It was a problem when it was Jamal Charles, like
Andy Reid and the Chiefs. We're terrifying as far as
the creativity coming out of the backfield and whoever that was.
And maybe you nailed the reason today with all the
injuries on the offensive line, but this feel like a trend,

(11:02):
not a today thing. And I know there's no bell
count now they mix in. You get Kareem Hunt, I
get it. Pachecko was hurt today, they got this kid,
Brashard Smith.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
The whole thing to me just feels.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
Like it's sort of lost its organization and there's a
lot more of just dropping Patrick back in that pocket
and looking around and you get what you got today.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
I don't quite understand what happened there. And even.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Number one, not being able to run the ball and
not being able to stop the run is a problem.
They haven't really relied on the running game for a
couple of years now. But you're right, the Chiefs were
dangerous when they had someone formidable out of the backfield.
And even when Pacheco is healthy, he's not going to

(11:55):
garner the attention that No, you know any of the
Chargers running backs or any of the Ravens running back
do you just not worried about them? No, you'll give
up seven yards?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Okay, like the Lion. Lion.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Oh that's the problem, right, like the Lions and Jamier
Gibbs is what the Chiefs.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
That's what their backfield used to look like.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Yeah, yeah, And so.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
If they used to be able to get away with
it because they could stop the run. So what the
Chiefs did, They had a conservative effort. They were like,
this is how we're going to approach this. They had
a one hundred and they ran the ball for thirty
thirty five times for one hundred and forty one yards
four yards to carry time of possession here here, this

(12:45):
is what you get when you when you do that,
thirty four minutes to twenty five minutes. Yep, that's how
that happens. So more time for the reigning MVP on
the field, less time for the best quarterback in the
league on the field. Right Like, So, now you you

(13:09):
take away two things from them and you make them
one dimensional, you make them a passing offense with a
substitute offensive line. That's a recipe for disaster for the Chiefs.
And if you ask me, are they in trouble, well,

(13:30):
it depends on how healthy they can get up front
over the bye weekend.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
That's what That's what it's going to come down to.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
If I asked you to pick a side right now playoffs,
yes or no for the Chiefs, which side.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
I couldn't possibly And even if you hate the Chiefs,
you couldn't possibly say.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
No, they're very very heavy favorites still to make it,
of course, very heavy favorite chiefs. Yeah, five and four,
five and four, third place.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
And now they gave Buffalo everything they all. They can
be handled now.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Of course, of course.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
I don't know if you've noticed, but that's happening in
all of Buffalo's games lately.

Speaker 3 (14:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
I know that. But this was really good last week.
But they had lost two games in a row prior
to that. I mean, it's a different league. Sure, it's
a different league.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
It's a week yeah, absolutely, And.

Speaker 4 (14:25):
That's the thing I really took from these first nine
weeks of the season.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
It's different out there.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
Like I'm in a little pick them thing where you
pick three games.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Good luck.

Speaker 4 (14:38):
It's tough. I was great. I went to two and
one today, yep, But I was. I was looking at
the spreads and picking games.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
I don't know, brother, Yep.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
I had made it all the way to week nine
here in one of the survivor pools, and the Carolina
Panthers took care of that today and a lot of
others had the Detroit Lions today and and I mean
the Panthers. The Panthers are five and four. They won
at lambeau Field in November. Right now, through that entire

(15:08):
AFC discussion, there's one team might be the most interesting
team of all of them, And through that whole conversation,
their names never even came up.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
I want to get to them coming up next, That's
what we'll do. We're also about to kick off on
Sunday night.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
It's the Commanders and the Seahawks in the Nation's capital.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Jaden Daniels is back. Let's have a party.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
We're living the Fox Sports Radio studios and Sunday Night
football is underway.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Washington is going to have the ball first.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Here comes Jaydon Daniels onto the field with the Seattle
Seahawks in town, and they're wearing them throwbacks. Those are
pretty nice. They look pretty good. Steve Largen might be
playing tonight from We'll see those are fun.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
We'll keep an eye on this one for you.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
You notice we went through that entire chatter about the
AFC with nary a word about the team that won
their game on Thursday night.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
They were one and.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Five fourteen days ago, and now they are three and
five and Lamar Jackson is back in the building, and
we talked about it every week. If you take a
look at what the Ravens have coming up next, they'll
be in Minnesota, then they'll be in Cleveland, then they
host the Jets, then they host the Bengals. This is

(17:22):
a very favorable schedule that started on Thursday, and now
they'll do it with the person who, for my money,
is still the best player in the National Football League.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
And you cannot leave.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Them, especially now with the Steelers getting that win today.
You got to put those two teams in the conversation
as well and figure out how that's going to potentially
affect the Chiefs.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
Yeah, and you're right, we omitted them, and that's a
bad omission because you know, Lamar's back, he's healthy, Derek
Henry looks hungry, and harbolls tied of hearing people say
he should be fired.

Speaker 3 (18:06):
And so.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
They are definitely a team that you don't want to
face coming down the stretch the second half of the season. Look,
it's getting real crazy. You can't give games away now,
especially in the AFC. Nope, can't give these away, and
definitely not against an AFC opponent.

Speaker 3 (18:32):
So this is great for the.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Fans, Sure is.

Speaker 3 (18:37):
Not so much for the coaches.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Stressful? Is stressful? Yeah? Absolutely, you know, I mean the
Colts have a little bit of wiggle room, but you
sort of wonder if some of the shine came off
of them today. I'm thinking about what happened at lambeau
Field and what an opportunity missed with Detroit losing a

(19:04):
home game today against the Minnesota Vikings. What an opportunity
for the Green Bay Packers to create some space they
did not and lost that game at home, and maybe
we you tell me, am, I supposed to take the
Carolina Panthers for seriously.

Speaker 1 (19:23):
Now in the NFC playoff picture, well.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
The teams that don't take them serious lose.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Five and four.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
Teams that don't take them serious lose.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
So got a.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
Point differential of negative thirty five. But they're five and four.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
Got Sometimes you just got to find a way, man, Yeah, yeah,
sometimes you got to find a way. Now, Normally bad
teams find ways to lose, and we saw that early on.
I thought they were taking from the opening week, but
he we are.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Here, we are. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
One more thing about that.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
On Thursday night, and I know that Miami is a
hot mess, and they had to kind of announce that
McDaniel is going to still be the coach for the
rest of the year.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
The GM is gone. It was that kind of a vibe.
This is not news.

Speaker 2 (20:36):
I'm not going to surprise anyone with this comment, but
good lord, the Baltimore Ravens defense was terrible. Then they
gave up six points. And I know the Dolphins are bad.
That's not what I'm getting at. What I am getting
at is I just want to take another moment to
point out that, in my opinion, there's essentially two football

(20:59):
players in this league. And I know Mahomes is Mahomes
and you can't touch that resume, but there's two players,
for my money in this league that essentially filtered down
to every teammate they have, and without even being on
the field, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen can essentially change

(21:21):
the way the defense plays because they are so dynamic,
they'd change everything that's happening with an entire franchise. You
just don't see it at that level very often in
the NFL.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
It's almost Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
Feel like NBA players to me, right, Like, that's what
it feels like. You know, Al Horford left the Boston
Celtics and he said, why would I stay? Jason Tatum's
not here this year. We're not winning anything. It's over
and that's what Lamar and Josh feel like to their
football teams.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
Well, yeah, I mean, I mean, like I said, like
you can when you have an elite passer of the football.
I kind of equate it to us having an elite
update guy. And so when you're building your team in

(22:21):
your quarterback as elite, you can have deficiencies in other
places and still compete, just like we may be deficient
and we can still compete with the big dogs because
one Steve decayed.

Speaker 8 (22:33):
And a good evening to you, gentlemen. Good to hear you.
And the Sunday night game is otherway. Seattle at Washington
Commanders have had their first possession and punted Seattle's about
to take the field. Yes, Buffalo did win at home
against Kansas City twenty eight, twenty one, Josh Allen with
three total touchdowns. You might say Buffalo held on ap
had a stat what's the record of each team when,

(22:56):
for example, the Bills are up by fifteen points or
more to start the four fourth quarter? The record now
one forty three and two for Buffalo old time with
one time when they're up fifteen at least at the
start of the fourth What about Kansas City when they're
down fifteen or more to start a fourth quarter. One
win ever one and one twelve. That one win was

(23:19):
overtime comeback against the Packers. Over twenty years ago, Las
Vegas hosted Jacksonville in overtime. Jags win thirty to twenty nine.
Cam Little of the winning side kicked a sixty eight
yard field goal at the end of the first half,
a new NFL record. The Raiders meanwhile, missed an extra
point kick late in the first half and eventually lost
by one, missing a two point pass at the end

(23:41):
tight end Brock Bowers with three touchdown receptions. Jacksonville had
trailed nine to six to start the fourth quarter. So
the Raiders have a two and six record for the
third time in the last four seasons, and it's happened
with three different head coaches. In fact, if you go
back about twenty years for Raiders football, they've had eleven
head coach the non interam guys. Eight of the eleven

(24:03):
coaches have started two and six or worse in their
first full season with this franchise.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
Not just Pete Carroll.

Speaker 8 (24:10):
Go back to John Gruden in twenty eighteen, Tom Cable,
Lane Kiffin et.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Cetera, et cetera.

Speaker 8 (24:16):
It was also a Rams home game and win over
New Orleans thirty four to ten. Matthew Stafford four touchdown passes,
two to Devonte Adams. Rams led twenty to ten at
the half. Pittsburgh surprised Indianapolis twenty seven to twenty. It
was a twenty seven to ten win with under five
minutes left. Jalen Warren two short touchdown runs. Indy had
come in seven to one. They were the top offense

(24:38):
in the league, averaging thirty four points a game, averaging
three hundred and eighty five yards a game. They had
MVP candidate running back Jonathan Taylor, who had fourteen touchdowns
this year, as many as five different teams had.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Taylor was held to.

Speaker 8 (24:52):
Fourteen carries forty five yards. Daniel Jones had five turnovers
that had something to do with the result. He was
thirty one fifty passing three hundred and forty two yards
two total tds. He was sacked five times.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
Here.

Speaker 8 (25:06):
The Steelers offense at home today, first quarter had no
first downs, ten plays nine yards and by the fourth
quarter it's not even a game. Next Sunday night, Pittsburgh
at the LA Chargers Chargers are six and three after
surviving at Tennessee twenty seven to twenty Justin Herbert three
total touchdowns, one interception. He was sacked six times. He
did have nine carries fifty seven yards. It turned into

(25:28):
yet another Charger game where due to injuries and backups
on the field, Herbert, with nobody in front of him
and nobody behind him, left tackled. Joe alt Left rolled
up on ankle injury, and in the three games he
missed on the offensive line for the Chargers earlier this season,
the team went one and two. The quarterback stats went
down six more sacks on Herbert hit eleven more times.

(25:52):
It's still true that Justin Herbert is on pace too.
In his first six years of the league, he hit
six hundred times. Standing by with TJ. Watt against this
offensive line. Next Sunday night, New England is seven and
two after a home win against Atlanta twenty four to
twenty three, as the Falcons missed an extra point kick
with under five.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Minutes to go.

Speaker 8 (26:12):
The Patriots defense was allowing just seventy six yards rushing
per game, best in the AFC. They only allowed seventy
one on the ground today. Michael Pennock's three short touchdown
passes to Drake London in the loss. Denver kicks a
field goal on the final play to win at Houston
eighteen fifteen. Courtland Sutton had one catch in this game.
It was a touchdown. Houston on red zone tds went

(26:34):
zero for three. Kayimi Fairbairn five for six on field
goals in defeat. No TVs for the Texans offense. Fairburn
did miss an early fifty one yard attempt. More importantly,
quarterback c. J. Stroud left for Houston in the first
half to be evaluated for a concussion.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
He was hit as he slid.

Speaker 8 (26:51):
Carolina wins at Green Bay sixteen to thirteen on a
forty nine yard field goal on the final play. Rico
dowdle two short touchdown runs. He had twenty five carries
one hundred three yards. As I recall, he had a
celebration foul on one of his end zone gyrations which
pushed the extra point back, and then they missed the
extra point, so it was thirteen all late in the game,

(27:12):
but Carolina does win. Minnesota won at Detroit twenty seven
to twenty four. David Montgomery one short TD run, one fumble,
for the Lions. JJ McCarthy back two touchdown passes in
the first quarter for the Vikings and one td run
in the third San Francisco six and three after winning
at the Giants thirty four to twenty four, Christian McCaffrey
just give him the ball and get out of the way.

(27:34):
He had a touchdown run, touchdown catch twenty eight carries
one hundred and six yards, also five catches sixty seven yards.
Next Sunday, Rams six and two at the Niners six
and three, Chicago won forty seven forty two at Cincinnati
on a fifty eight yard touchdown where tackling was optional,

(27:54):
apparently with under twenty seconds to go. The Bengals coming
in had the worst defense in the NFL, and oh
my goodness, I didn't.

Speaker 3 (28:01):
Think it could get worse.

Speaker 8 (28:02):
It actually did. They were allowing over thirty one points
a game and gave up forty seven in this one,
a typical Bengals game. They're allowing four hundred yards of
offense to the opponent. Wow, this is a bad, bad defense.
I know they were missing a couple of guys. They
didn't play Logan Wilson earlier, who was just as bad
Auburn fired coach Hugh Freeze and his three years there.

(28:23):
Auburn was six and sixteen in conference. Nebraska quarterback Dylan
Royola reportedly out for the year with a broken leg.
Kyle Larson won NASCAR Season Championship.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Back to you, Steve, great stuff, and that Bengals Bears
game you're referencing will show up in our top of
the Hour three Things segment because that game I will
just I'll save it. I will save it for about
a half hour from now.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
That game. If you didn't watch the fourth.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Quarter, oh my god, and why would you. I mean,
it's the Bears and the Bengals. Yeah, but holy.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
Crap, I've never seen anything like that.

Speaker 8 (29:00):
And you're also thinking, why didn't I start Jill Flacco in.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Fantasy exactly or anybody in that game? Incredible? All right,
great stuff, Steve.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
Now from Steve mentioned a play that I want to
bring up, and I don't want to sound mean, but
I came away from watching football today very frustrated.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
And this is not the first time with the.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Way we are officiating quarterback hits Okay.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
Very frustrated. Two kinds okay.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
There was one in the Giants forty nine ers game
where Jackson Dart decided to become a runner and he
just ran up the middle and was hit. I don't
even remember, gosh, I can't remember. I think it was
Tatum Bethune was Fred Warner's replacement. They called an illegal

(30:02):
hit to the head and neck area. And here's a
crazy thing. So Jackson Dart at that point as a
runner is no longer a thrower, and he also didn't
get hit in the head and neck area.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
But other than that good call.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
Stereotor was brought in to discuss it and clearly was like,
that's a bad call. That that's not But here's the
one I want to talk about that actually bothers me
because this was something you and I discussed a lot
last year.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
I don't want to use the word fault, but that CJ.
Stroud concussion. Oh yeah, you know what I'm going to say, dude.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
The league has got to do something about these quarterbacks
who know damn well that they can pull off a
personal foul if they run right up to a defender
and slided his legs and the defender has no choice, literally,
nobody movement that will disallow that player from making contact
with the helmet of the quarterback, and then the helmet

(31:07):
often bounces off of the ground and it looks awful
and flags fly everywhere, and the defender is enemy number one,
and I'm like, this is the quarterback's fault. You cannot
keep putting defensive players in a position where you're asking
them to contort their body in a way that a

(31:28):
human being cannot and then calling a penalty on them
for it. And hell, there's probably gonna be a fine
because he hit CJ. Stroud in the head and CJ
had to be walked off, and then we show all
the video and here goes Twitter and oh my.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
God, CJ. Stroud has a concussion.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
Dude, there's got to be a new penalty for quarterbacks
doing this last second slide at people's feet thing.

Speaker 4 (31:52):
Okay, so I'll tell you this. In that game, I
saw that hit. They rescinded that flag. Good, So they
took that flag back because number one, the defender did
not make contact with his head in neck area. He
as he started his late slide, the defender went cross body.

(32:14):
The reason he got a concussion is because he hit
his head.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
On the ground.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
Yes, And so to your point, quarterbacks have to know. Look,
this is you gotta protect yourself, yes, and if you're
gonna slide, don't try to get an extra yard.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
You gotta go down.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
You cannot run in the mouth of the defense as
they're converging and then say, oh, I'm gonna pull a
cord and slide because Patrick Mahomes is fake slid before. Yep,
Josh Allen has fake slid before. And so you put
a defender in a situation where he's like, hey, I'm

(32:57):
committed now.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
Shout out to the defender that actually hit c. J. Stroud.
He did not hit him with his helmet. He hit
him with his shoulder.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
It was across his chest and just the impact as
he was already going down, had his head hit the
back of his head hit the ground and that's what
induced the concussion. So the refs in that situation did
the right thing. Wow, rescinded the flag.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
They did because they have replay assists. But on the
play at full speed And this is what I'm getting at, right,
quarterback rocious. If a quarterback jerks their helmet at all,
it's no different than James Harden playing basketball.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
It's a head snap and the.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Fly's coming no matter if anybody did anything or not.

Speaker 4 (33:47):
Well, we just watched Josh Shallen in this late afternoon
game try to get one of those.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (33:53):
He slid, The defender jumped out of his way and
kind of like the back of his hand brushed Josh's hellman,
and Josh threw his headpack like he had his eyes gouged.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
He got up.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
No flag was called, and he laughed it because he
you know, he knew he was acting a little bit.

Speaker 1 (34:13):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (34:14):
But you hey, look man, you can run through the
middle if you want to.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
It's one of those situations where you do it at
your own wrists.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
Putting the officials in a really, really bad spot, because
my thing is they're not even just trying to get
an extra yard. I think a lot of these slides
are literally trying to get a personal foul. They know
they know that if they slide underneath someone, their head
is gonna make contact.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
And they're gonna get another fifteen yards.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
Again, we just in this very same game I'm talking about,
we watched Patrick Mahomes almost get himself sent to the hospital. Yeah,
the sideline, with no available option to throw the ball,
he stops right before going out of bounds or throwing

(35:03):
the ball away and got hit as he's throwing trying
to well, I don't know what he was doing, but
it was a hit. There was a legal hit and
he literally got his whole body, uh driven into the
ground head snap back and hit the ground as well.
Like you you can't be fishing for these flags.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Nope, nope, And and that's he's a fisher.

Speaker 3 (35:30):
Now he's a long short fish.

Speaker 2 (35:33):
The number one is the number one target on these
In this conversation.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
What you're gonna do. We just watched Tua in that game.
He was like, Nope, not me, not today.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
Right because Tuas had his life.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
Flocks check out of that thing quick, right.

Speaker 2 (35:48):
Right exactly. We're live in the Fox Sports Radio studios.
Much much more to do, including at the top of
the hour three things our top three observations from week
nine and from will throw in a little something else
from the sports world as well. But all of that,
all of that is coming up as we continue with e.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
From Salama Mark Willard. This is Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (36:21):
Live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Mark Willardy from
salam Seahawks up seven to nothing.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
Hey, what's up with the Commanders this year? Uh?

Speaker 4 (36:38):
Look, I never I never try to figure out what
type of a team a team is when they've had
their key piece missing, right, Like.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
Okay, you're talking about Jaden?

Speaker 4 (36:52):
Yeah, all right, I mean well, especially when they're missing early,
when you're trying to figure out you coming into the
new season, trying to figure who you are and what
you do, that's an important piece. We wouldn't know who
we would just saw with with Baltimore, but we wouldn't
know who Buffalo was.

Speaker 3 (37:08):
If Josh Allen wasn't there.

Speaker 1 (37:10):
Sure we wouldn't know.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
We wouldn't know who. Uh we still don't know who
Kansas City is.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
They just yeah, I mean, look, this is their ninth game.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
Jaden has played in five games, five five of the
previous eight.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Well, they're not the team we saw last year because
and that's to be expected because you just teams have
now had so much film on him. Defensive coordinators are

(37:44):
defensive coordinators for a reason.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
That's why they get paid Like they get paid.

Speaker 4 (37:49):
They spent all off season, uh, solving the Rubik's cube
that torched them the previous season, and you see a
lot out of that. Okay, we're going to allow him
to do this, but we were going to take this
completely away. And it makes young quarterbacks have to make
adjustments real time.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
And so you know.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
They're following his lead. They're still in the hunt. They're
three and five and you know, Will like I couldn't
tell you who they are. I know they're they're they're captain.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
Their guy.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
Is out.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
You know, he's heard his squad again, the same quad
that had him out earlier this year, and so Terry McLaurin.
So it's yeah, you know, it's like, oh, okay, well
you just don't know, you know, you don't know who
they are yet. I know Jayden Daniels has talent and

(38:51):
so at any moment he can, he can do something bad,
you no doubt.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
No, it just yeah, it feels like a team wide
sophomore slump. And it's odd because usually when you see
something that doesn't look quite right, you go grab some
numbers and figure out what it is that's not quite clicking.

(39:20):
And so I go, all right, let's look at Washington well,
Jayden Daniels is throwing one pick this year, one interception.
All right, Well are they running the ball to keep
you know, the defense on us? Well, I mean as
a team, they're averaging five point two yards of carry. So,
like put it this way, when you go into the numbers,

(39:43):
I can't find the story there.

Speaker 1 (39:47):
Analytically, they look like they're supposed to look right, but
they don't look they don't look right. In the game.

Speaker 4 (39:54):
Yeah, I still think they're You know, you got a
young you got a young quarterback who's up against different
type of pressure and expectations than he was his rookie year.
I mean he went all the way to the NFC
Championship game. You know that's that's a long number one.
I know what that feels like as a rookie. That's

(40:15):
a long season, and you know you can kind of
start feeling yourself ou which I did my second season
was was was was not good.

Speaker 3 (40:25):
It was awful.

Speaker 1 (40:29):
Yeah, some big sunglasses when you walk into room.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
Hah, you know it. I'm like I arrived. You make
that all rookie team, you know.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
I hear you. All Right, we're gonna do three things
coming up next.

Speaker 2 (40:40):
Our top observations from the sports week that was and
that is next. Rocking and rolling on a week nine
action National Football League coming to a close with basically
about a game and a half left to go. No
Kyler Murray again tomorrow night for the Cardinals as they
take on America's team okay if you say so, and

(41:04):
their main rival, the Washington Commanders. We were just talking
them out, not quite looking like the team that we
met last year, and they are in the process of
struggling out the gate.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Rough first quarter for them.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
They trail at home against the Seattle Seahawks seven to zhering.
We also known as Steve de Seger, will keep you
up to date on that when Jayden Daniels just moments
ago got intercepted.

Speaker 1 (41:29):
But with a lot to do tonight and a lot
still to say.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
This has become one of our favorite times of the
week because at this hour six Pacific and nine in
the East, every single week we give you our three Things,
our top three observations that come from each week, namely
in the National Football League. But of course Ephram might
have a little something fun for us at the very end,

(41:55):
but let's do it.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
Here we go.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
Three Things, Top three observations from the week that was,
and Ephraim, as always, I'll go first so that you
can go last. And Number one for me is that
that Bengals Bears game was the drunkest game that I
have seen.

Speaker 1 (42:15):
All year long, bar none.

Speaker 2 (42:19):
For those of you who did not see the way
this ended, I want to take you through the fourth
quarter alone. With a score at the start of the
fourth quarter was thirty one to twenty seven in favor
of the Chicago Bears, and they picked up a fumble,

(42:40):
and then they kicked a field goal and they went
up by seven.

Speaker 1 (42:43):
And then the.

Speaker 2 (42:43):
Bengals missed a field goal, which seemed like that was
kind of the game ender, because then the Bears went
on a very quick two play drive to go up
forty one to twenty seven in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 1 (42:57):
Deuces, right, especially.

Speaker 2 (42:59):
When then after the following eight play drive, Joe Flacco
was intercepted with only two minutes and eleven seconds to go.

Speaker 1 (43:09):
I want to say that again, With two.

Speaker 2 (43:12):
Minutes and eleven seconds left to go, it was forty
one to twenty seven. But then with thirty two seconds
left to go, the Bengals got a touchdown. Whatever, right,
and then they do that silly analytic two point conversion thing,
and they got that too, so it was forty one
to thirty five, but only thirty seconds left to go.

(43:34):
They're going to need an on side kick for that
to go well. And then they get that on side kick,
and then they head all the way down the field
on a six play drive and they get that touchdown
and they kick the extra point and then they're up
forty two to forty one, and everybody in Cincinnati is celebrating.
They've got oh my god, it's going to be a
miracle comeback. But they have left about just under a

(43:55):
minute on the clock for Caleb Williams, and as he
tries to get into field goal range, decide let's not
tackle anyone. That'll be our philosophy, and Colston Lovelin ends
up going for let me get the yard.

Speaker 1 (44:09):
It's now a fifty eight yard touchdown over.

Speaker 2 (44:12):
The middle of the field to win the game forty
seven to forty two.

Speaker 1 (44:17):
All of that happened in the fourth quarter alone, and.

Speaker 2 (44:22):
The Bears by the way quietly like state of the
playoff race. They're five and three. They're five and three,
and many said the Bengals trade deadline decision would come
down to a win or a loss today, which was
on my mind as this thing went back and forth
and back and forth. And it was great because almost

(44:44):
one hundred points were scored. But I walked away thinking,
you know what, from both of these teams should be
ashamed of themselves. That's pretty much how I felt at
the end of watching this thing. Also exhausted, but yeah,
that's how I describe it.

Speaker 4 (44:58):
Well, look, I'll tell you this. We are so hell
bent on talking about Baltimore and them at the time,
being two and five and still in it, you gotta
have the same sentimentated same division, correct with with the
Cincinnati Bengals, I guess right. I mean they're three and six.

(45:20):
Technically they can still win the division.

Speaker 1 (45:23):
They can. They don't have Lamar Jackson on there.

Speaker 4 (45:25):
They do not have Lamar Jackson, but they have somebody
on their squad. Then since he's been there, I mean,
he's on pace to throw for six thousand yards at
four and seventy yards ten yards a completion, four touchdowns.

(45:51):
Bro Look, hey man, they he is a gunslinger and
they have two Ferraris at receiver one seven for one
twenty one and two touchdowns. And one six for one eleven.
They are a problem. They just needed somebody to get those.

(46:12):
That's why Joe Burrow had those numbers last year. So look,
I'm all for it. Lighted up the Bengals. Now you
understand why Mike Tomlin was so upset with the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 1 (46:27):
Fair, fair, good, you get it.

Speaker 4 (46:29):
Good point right, you get why he was upset, Like,
why would you do that in our division?

Speaker 3 (46:33):
That's up for grabs.

Speaker 1 (46:34):
Yeah, no joke.

Speaker 4 (46:36):
So yeah, that that's my sentiment there, like, hey man, Caleb,
he's getting better. They pulled it out. Sometimes you gotta
win a shootout. Sometimes you gotta winn to shoot out.
You gotta win a seventeen to the thirteen game, and
they did. For me, my first one is we talked
about it a little bit in the first hour of

(46:57):
the Panthers. Now, the Panthers are in an enigma for me.
I'm not quite sure what type of team they are,
who they are or what their team philosophy is and
what they want to do. Do they want the first
pick in the draft or do they want to fight
for a wildcard spot Because they're a game out of
the wildcard spot right now and they're winning games. This

(47:24):
is what I'll say. They're playing extremely hard. Do they
have a quarterback?

Speaker 3 (47:28):
No? Bryce Young was eleven for twenty four hundred and.

Speaker 4 (47:33):
Two yards, no touchdowns, in an interception, and they won
the game against at the time, the five to one
and one Green Bay Packers in Lambeau at Lambeau Field
at Lambo Like. I don't know what to make of
the Carolina Panthers. I don't know if someone needs to
tell them, hey, guys, you're messing our our draft pick,

(47:58):
like you can't lose forty to nine, and then right
like and then come back and went like, I don't
know what they are, but right now they sit at
five and four. I scratched my head. They've gotten me
on my pickum's week as well. I've fallen for the

(48:19):
banana and the tailpipe. I just knew Dallas was gonna
beat the Panthers because the Panthers, well, hell are the Panthers,
And that is not the case. So I'm not quite sure.
You know, they play the Saints next week. Good luck
with that one, I mean, good luck with that one.
So I just I my question is, who are they?

(48:42):
Are they A lot of rey are they trying to
get the first pick in the draft. Are they trying
to take this team into the postseason?

Speaker 2 (48:50):
Well, they gave twenty five carries to Rico Dowdells, so
I think they're trying to win. And my question was
how come he didn't look like this in Dallas?

Speaker 3 (48:58):
Did he get the opportunity?

Speaker 2 (49:00):
I mean no, But also have you ever seen him
look like this even for one run?

Speaker 3 (49:08):
No?

Speaker 1 (49:09):
No, crazy.

Speaker 4 (49:10):
He's putting a league on notice, That's what he's doing.
He's putting the league on notice.

Speaker 2 (49:14):
And Truba Hubbard makes a lot of money for five
carries in seventeen. Yeah, but anyway, all right, Number two
for me, the Broncos are this year's version of what
the Chiefs were last year. So the Denver Broncos are
seven and two, and their point differential is just fine.
It's at fifty nine, although that's lower than the Chiefs,

(49:35):
who are two games behind him. But it is all
about for the Broncos this year. One score wins. This
team once upon a time was one and two. Now
they're seven and two. That adds up to six for
those of you who are challenged, that's six wins in
a row, twenty one to seventeen at Philadelphia when they
were losing by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Don't

(49:58):
forget their London thirteen to eleven over the Jets. Don't
forget that crazy game against the New York Giants thirty
three to thirty two the final there. I know they
whipped up on Dallas last week, and then this week
they were losing the entire time and barely use the
end zones. But here they are in the end with
eleven points unanswered in the fourth quarter to beat the

(50:23):
Houston Texans eighteen to fifteen.

Speaker 1 (50:25):
Don't get me wrong, they're good.

Speaker 2 (50:28):
But the Broncos have a little bit of that pixie
dust that's been sprinkled on them.

Speaker 1 (50:32):
We'll see how long it.

Speaker 2 (50:33):
Lasts when they get further into their division games, because
so far they've only played one of them and they
lost it to the Chargers. But next week it's the Raiders,
the week after that it's the Chiefs. They're gonna get
tested down the stretch. They've got to go to Kansas City,
they play Green Bay, etc. I really like the Denver
Broncos team. I just don't know if you can live

(50:56):
the way they're living. But they're trying for the for
the Broncos. When I watch them, this is what I see.
I see a defense that is they put pressure on
the pet Man brother. They are going to get after you.
They're gonna get after the quarterback. They're gonna speed you up.

Speaker 4 (51:16):
They're gonna make it impossible to do what you feel
comfortable doing. And it's one of those situations when the
Denver Broncos are special. Their defense is leading the way
I've been on those teams. I've been on the teams
with with Mobley and and and some of the hillatious

(51:38):
defenders or the Trevor Price is and like it's that
the town offensive flash. Yeah, the t TD was there,
you had lay Rod McCaffrey.

Speaker 3 (51:52):
But the defense is what gets after people.

Speaker 4 (51:55):
And just watching them defensively, they're going to put a
lot of pressure.

Speaker 3 (51:59):
And when C. J. Stroud went out the Texas, it
was over.

Speaker 1 (52:02):
Now.

Speaker 4 (52:02):
They they kept it, they kept it close, kicking, but
David Mills, he did a yeoman's job stepping in and
trying to get something done. But under that consistent pressure,
you know, it was only you know, a moment before
they were gonna pull that out. So the Denver Broncos
is living off their defense.

Speaker 1 (52:24):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (52:24):
And bo Nicks is playing well for them offensively. He
is just he is not making a lot of mistakes,
even though he had an interception today, but you know
he is looking, he's looking. He had an interception and
a fumble, I believe today. But just that that that
Denver defense man. They are there are hawks and they
are putting pressure on opposing teams. For me, number two,

(52:50):
I'm on number two, right, number two, number two. Okay,
I did that one, I did this one.

Speaker 1 (53:00):
Save that one over there.

Speaker 4 (53:01):
I gotta put that, gotta slide that down a little bit.
I want to talk about the Steelers, Okay, I want
to talk about the Steelers in a way of.

Speaker 3 (53:12):
I'm confusion for me.

Speaker 4 (53:14):
Is is the thing now, The Steelers defense is much malign.

Speaker 3 (53:22):
Except when they're not.

Speaker 4 (53:25):
And you never know which one is gonna show up,
Like this is a team that I think I believe
they forced five turnovers today, five turnovers, and so you're
like all week it was how the Steelers defense lets
you down. The Steelers let you down last week, That's
what it was all about. Stillers let us down last week.

(53:48):
The Stellers let us down against the Bengals. The Steelers defense.
And then they show up and they have five turnovers.
They turned the Browns over five times. And then they
go up and turn the most prolific offense in the
NFL this year over. They they held Jonathan Taylor in check.

(54:11):
And so all of this press about the the did
you know what the fans were doing in the parking
lot prior to the game, in pregame in tailgating, they
were having a funeral for the Steelers defense. Fans were
tailgating having a funeral for the Steelers defense because they
felt it was that bad. And then they come out

(54:33):
and they turned the tables on the hottest offensive team
in the National Football League and the Colts and essentially
rendered them, you know, useless. They couldn't run the ball.
H Daniel Jones, who's been who had been amazing three
to three picks. It's it's if they can just do this.

(54:58):
Look their offense, they're gonna do just an right. This
is not the old this is not your Green Bay.
Aaron Rodgers MVP year Aaron Rodgers three, four years ago.
Aaron Rodgers. This is someone who's going to manage the
game the right way and when their defense is playing
like they're playing like Aaron was pedestriate twenty five thirty five,

(55:18):
two oh three touchdown, no interceptions. But you stop the
league's number one defense, I mean number one offense, and
so shout out to their defense this year, this game,
not this year, but this game. And if that's the
turning point, then this this division is going to get

(55:41):
really interesting.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
I have observation number two and a half. The music
stopped is Mary trying to tell us something. I didn't
know where the music went.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
I didn't know. We're not dying. There we go, get
the music back. There you go.

Speaker 2 (55:55):
Okay, I get to my number three. I really want to.
I look forward to hearing your response to this one.
The first two drives of an overtime football game need
to be untimed.

Speaker 1 (56:07):
That's my new opinion. This is stupid.

Speaker 2 (56:10):
If you're gonna have the rule that you now have,
which is that the other team gets to react to
whatever the first team did. If you're gonna do that,
then get the clock out of it, because what that
invariably forces a team to do in overtime is a
immediately go into the hurry up and b. For the

(56:31):
second time this year we've had a football game where
a team needed to sit there and look at a
situation and.

Speaker 1 (56:38):
Go, do we just want to tie or.

Speaker 2 (56:40):
What should we do because there's no time left on
the clock. And so the Packers earlier this year against
the Cowboys are like, yeah, we just kick a long
field goal. We'll just take a tie, super unsatisfying finish.
And then today the Raiders go into a situation where
they answer the touchdown. And even though the Raiders are

(57:01):
sitting there, I mean, they're not gonna go anywhere this year,
but they're sitting there at two and five, they just
choose to get super risky. Yeah, let's go for two
and see if we can win the game. I don't
think they'd be doing that if the clock was not
a factor. So to me, if you're going to do this,
then let both teams have the ball and then you

(57:24):
can bring the clock into play. I know that that
makes for a potentially crazy long football game, but I
don't necessarily think it fair. If we're trying to get
both teams an equal shot at winning the game, then
why does one get to take their damn sweet time

(57:45):
down the field, score the ball, and the other one
is thrown into the two minute drill.

Speaker 1 (57:51):
That's not the spirit of what we're trying to do.

Speaker 2 (57:54):
Get the clock out of this thing, or quite frankly,
just get the clock.

Speaker 1 (57:59):
Out of there entirely.

Speaker 2 (58:02):
That's what college does. Get the clock out of here.
It has no place in overtime.

Speaker 4 (58:09):
Okay, so I feel your sentiment, yes, but they've already
just favored the offense. It normally is. You do need
to bring your defense to overtime, correct you do you?
I mean you have to come into overtime, yes, with

(58:32):
your defense.

Speaker 1 (58:33):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (58:34):
So now if we're doing under look.

Speaker 4 (58:37):
Don't let a team go on to twelve play drive
in overtime.

Speaker 1 (58:41):
I understand that.

Speaker 4 (58:42):
I mean you have to at least force them to
kick a field goal.

Speaker 2 (58:46):
Yeah, but that that was the sentiment when they didn't
want to do this in the first place. I get it,
get the other team the ball, they'd be like, well,
why don't you just have your defense stop them?

Speaker 1 (58:56):
Like that was what you thought we were doing? Away
with that said.

Speaker 4 (58:59):
We did do way with it, But now you want
to really just be like defense, don't even worry about it,
just going over there. Just allow them to score because
we will. There's no time, so just let them drive
fourteen twelve ten plays. Man, you should be saying to yourself,

(59:20):
you gotta have some pride. You gotta stop somebody. Both
teams get to possess the ball. Okay, boom favors the offense.
It favors the offense. Whose defense is gonna step up
and win the game. It all comes back to whose
defense is gonna step up.

Speaker 1 (59:34):
We're already talking about the NFL. Everything already favors the offense.
When I stop here, why stop here?

Speaker 4 (59:40):
I get it, I feel your sentiment, But I don't
like that. I think that the time because number one,
you don't want the time is for injury, right, you
don't want to be out there all day, So get
them off the field. You're gonna have time. If you
don't stop them with enough time, that's your fault. That's it.
That's what That's what it boils down to bring us

(01:00:02):
to a close. Man, my clothes is and you already
know what it is. Shout out to the Los Angeles
Dodgers going back to back in the World Series Champion,
and shout out to Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Speaker 3 (01:00:13):
Brother.

Speaker 4 (01:00:13):
He he's done something that we hadn't seen since Randy Johnson,
the big unit. You start Game six, you throw ninety
six pitches, and when it's all on the line, Hey, Bud,
I know you just tore it down for us less

(01:00:35):
than twenty four hours ago.

Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
Hey, can we interest you in another helping of.

Speaker 4 (01:00:41):
The hottest bats in baseball in the Toronto Blue Jays?
Can we interest you in the serving of that they've
already plastered our other aces all over the ballpark?

Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
Would you like to step up and get a helping
of that?

Speaker 4 (01:00:56):
And he said absolutely, unequivocally yes, put me in coach
and burned him down right. This, this this World Series
was unbelievable. I think baseball needed it. I think baseball
fans needed it. And with the NBA going and and
the NFL going, this, this this World Series.

Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
Really stood out.

Speaker 4 (01:01:16):
It really caught a lot of people who weren't even
really baseball fans caught up in what was going on.
So shout out to the Dodger, shout out to MLB.
It's been a tremendous season.

Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
Great series, great series. I do believe though you missed
one thing. I think the reason Yamamoto came into the game.
I heard Dave Roberts called down to the bullpen and
said we're gonna go with trying.

Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (01:01:43):
And Yamamoto said, you just shut your mouth.

Speaker 3 (01:01:46):
Bro, I'm coming.

Speaker 1 (01:01:47):
I'm putting myself into this game.

Speaker 4 (01:01:48):
If he if that's the truth, and he was going
with trying, and he's he should be fired. But every time, right, Look,
I'm not the only one.

Speaker 1 (01:01:58):
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (01:01:58):
You see it.

Speaker 1 (01:01:59):
They want to World Series without a bullpen.

Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
It's pretty impressive, man, it's pretty impressive.

Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
But look, they won the first one last year with
the bullpen.

Speaker 1 (01:02:08):
I know it.

Speaker 3 (01:02:09):
It won this year without the bullpen.

Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
I don't know if you've noticed. It's a pretty good
baseball team. They have some players on that squad.

Speaker 4 (01:02:16):
Pretty good team, pretty good team, pretty good team. So
I always one of my thoughts that look shout out
to them. Uh, the parade is tomorrow, y'all be safe
out there. It's it's a tremendous uh tremendous feeling. Title
town baby Lakers and Knicks.

Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Uh no, that's not happening.

Speaker 1 (01:02:35):
But anyway, did.

Speaker 3 (01:02:36):
The Giants make the playoffs this year? Never forget it? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:02:42):
Next standings?

Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
Yeah no, So anyway, yeah, uh Mary, you can stop
the music now on on that note, Thank you very much,
and more coming up in the Fox Sports Radio studios.
UH with from Salama Mark Willard on Fox Sports Radio.
All right, sitting here live in the Fox Sports Radio studio.
Every time we blink the Seahawks score it's twenty eight

(01:03:06):
to nothing. And the problems that we discussed with the
Washington commanders appear to be maybe a little bit deeper
than even we realized. But we don't need me to
give an update on these things because guess what with
chit chatting for so long, it's already Steve de Sager time.

Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
So yeah, let's fade one down, Let's fade the other up,
Hey Steve, and let's get Steve to say you're in here, Abby,
Let's go.

Speaker 8 (01:03:37):
Sam Donald has four touchdown passes for Seattle in the
first half. We had about three minutes to go till
halftime at Washington at Seahawks twenty eight nothing over the Commanders,
and Donald is thirteen for thirteen passing two hundred and
twenty nine yards and four tds in the first half.
Jade and Daniels five of eight for forty yards and

(01:04:00):
one interception in the first half. Darnald the first Seahawks
QB with at least four touchdown passes first half of
a game since Matt Hasselback almost twenty years ago. Three
of the TV catches have come from rookies. For just
the second time ever in a Seattle game, we have
Tory Horton with two Elijah Arroyo with one TV reception.
A very impressive start to say the least, so Seattle's

(01:04:23):
on the verge of going to six and two this season.
Buffalo beat Kansas City twenty eight to twenty one. Josh
Allen three total touchdowns. He was twenty three of twenty six,
passing two hundred and seventy three yards. Next Sunday it's
Buffalo at Miami, which is two and seven. Patrick Mahomes
takes the l in this one. Kansas City's off next weekend.

(01:04:44):
Mahomes completion percentage was forty four percent, lowest for any
Chiefs quarterback under coach Andy Reid. In fact, the last
case quarterback to be lower in a completion percentage, you'd
have to go back to the end of the twenty
twelve season and our Brady Quinn was seven of sixteen
in a game for them. The Raiders were hosting Jacksonville

(01:05:04):
today and in overtime, the Jags were winners thirty to
twenty nine. Raiders missed a two point pass at the end.
Notable that an NFL record was set. Cam Little of
the Jaguars kicked a sixty eight yard field goal at
the end of the first half. Little kicked a forty
eight yard field goal late in regulation to tie the game.
Tight End Brock Bauers in defeat three touchdowns. He had

(01:05:25):
twelve catches one hundred and twenty seven yards. Thursday, Las
Vegas plays at Denver, which is seven and two. Rams
beat up New Orleans thirty four to ten. Matthew Stafford
four touchdown passes two to DeVante Adams. Pukin Nakua had
seven catches ninety five yards in a score. Time of
possession for the Rams forty four minutes of the sixty.

(01:05:45):
New Orleans is one and eight. Alvin Kamara is still
in the league, but you wouldn't know it today. Six carries,
fourteen yards, one catch, one fumble. Those Denver Broncos did
win at Houston eighteen fifteen on a field goal on
the final play. Houston led fifteen to seven early in
the fourth quarter. Texans quarterback c j Stroud left with

(01:06:07):
a concussion. Bo Nick started this game one of seven,
passing one interception, but still Denver has won six games
in a row. Pittsburgh beat a Colts team that entered
seven to one and with the best offense in the league.
Pittsburgh led him twenty seven to ten. With under five
minutes left twenty seven to twenty the final, Daniel Jones
committed five turnovers. Jalen Warren two short touchdown runs for

(01:06:29):
Pittsburgh New England seven and two. After beating Atlanta twenty
four to twenty three, The Falcons missed an extra point
kick with under five minutes left. Drake made two touchdown
passes in the first half. He had one interception in
the game with sacks six times, but another w six
in a row for the Pats Chargers six and three.
After winning at Tennessee twenty seven to twenty, Titans offense

(01:06:51):
with nine drives ten first owns, Carolina won at Green
Bay sixteen to thirteen on a forty nine yard field
goal on the final play. Romeo Dobbs in the laws
seven catches ninety one yards. Next week in Green Bay
will host Philadelphia in a Monday night game. Green Bay
tight end Tucker Kraft left carted off in fact with
a knee injury. The fear is according to NFL Network

(01:07:11):
a torn acl Minnesota wanted Detroit twenty seven to twenty four.
Jj McCarthy two touchdown passes in the first quarter and
a touchdown run in the third. Vikings running back left
with a shoulder injury. He had nine carries for seventy
eight yards on the ground. The Lions were averaging thirty
one points a game held to twenty four and a
loss at home Chicago forty seven forty two winners at

(01:07:34):
Cincinnati on a fifty eight yard td with under twenty
seconds left to Colston Lovelin, who had six catches one
hundred and eighteen yards, two scores Joe Flacco and defeat
four touchdown passes, three turnovers, four hundred and seventy yards
through the air. San Francisco six and three. After winning
at the Giants thirty four to twenty four, Christian McCaffrey
a touchdown catch, touchdown run, quarterback Jackson Dart three total

(01:07:58):
tds in the loss. By the way, the first college
football playoff rankings come out Tuesday. The top seven stayed
the same in the new ap pole today with Ohio
State and Indiana rank one two. Auburn fired coach Hugh Freeze,
South Carolina fired offensive coordinator Mike Shula. NHL wins for
the Islanders in Tampa Bay in the NBA Oklahoma City

(01:08:18):
seven and oh after ripping New Orleans one thirty seven
to one oh six. Chicago has a five and oh record.
Well had a five and oh record. It just went
final at New York's Nicks beat the Bulls one twenty
eight to one sixteen, and San Antonio five and oh
is losing badly mid third quarter at Phoenix Suns up
eighty one sixty two. Yanick Center became number one again

(01:08:41):
in men's tennis, winning the final at the Paris Indoors,
and Kyle Larson took NASCAR's season championship again. It's under
two minutes to go in the first half. Sam Darnold
and the Seahawks up twenty eight nothing at Washington.

Speaker 2 (01:08:54):
Back to you, oh great, stop, Steve Good, good details
on all of this. Yes, Sam dam Donald has not
thrown an incompletion yet, And what the hell.

Speaker 1 (01:09:03):
Do we do with this?

Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
NFC west woof because Seattle's going to six and two,
and the Rams are already six and two, and the
Niners are six and three, and I don't know how
the hell the Niners are six and three they are.
I don't know how the San Francisco forty nine ers
are six and three, but yeah they are, and somehow

(01:09:26):
they're three and zero in the division.

Speaker 1 (01:09:29):
What do you what do you give me for? All
three are going to the playoffs?

Speaker 3 (01:09:34):
Oof, that's tough.

Speaker 1 (01:09:38):
It is tough.

Speaker 4 (01:09:38):
That's that's that that's hard to do because eventually I
have to eat each other.

Speaker 3 (01:09:42):
So it's it's it's it's happened before.

Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
M hmm.

Speaker 4 (01:09:47):
But it's rare that three teams from the same division
go now, especially you got Tampa six and two, the
sneaky Carolina parent I don't know what's going on there.
But then you look at the NFC North. You Green
Bay at five two and one, Lions five and three,
Chicago five and three, and even Minnesota at four and four. Well,

(01:10:08):
no one's under five hundred in the NFC North.

Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
Those are the teams that I think, you know, we're like,
there's a long way to go, and the Cowboys could
be four four and one after tomorrow night.

Speaker 1 (01:10:18):
We'll see they're gonna face Jacoby Brissett.

Speaker 4 (01:10:22):
So if you look at the top seven right now,
m hmm, Philly, Tampa, Rams, Green Bay, Seattle, forty nine Ers, Lions.

Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
Yep, that might be the seven right So, I mean,
unless you're unless you think the Panthers or the Bears
will unseat one of these NFC West teams.

Speaker 1 (01:10:43):
In other words, they're gonna put up a winning record
in the second half of the season.

Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
Also, are even Minnesota Maybe maybe, I mean they're four
and four, but yeah, if you think those teams are
gonna put up winning records in the second half of
the season again, then.

Speaker 1 (01:11:02):
Yeah, one of these three teams might get taken down.

Speaker 4 (01:11:05):
And the reason I mentioned Minnesota is because what they
did today.

Speaker 3 (01:11:10):
You go on the road.

Speaker 4 (01:11:13):
In Detroit and you know, JJ McCarthy is what the
third game? I think, uh, I think it's his third game.
I think this is his third game. You're you're correct, yeah,
and you go on the road and you you win.
I mean so shoot, yeah, that was a monumental game

(01:11:36):
for for the Minnesota Vikings totally and what they're trying
to do. Because we've had our own opinions on what
we think is going on and they're not quite sure
about him. And but to go on the road and
do that, and he had a pretestrian game. It was
it was, it wasn't bad. I mean, they got to
get the offensive line to you know, now that Detroit

(01:11:58):
defensive line is is nuts. They gonna get after you.
But him having composure going on the road, going back
to you know, we close away played college, going against
his former college teammate, and he pulls out a victory.
So you can't discount him. At the halfway point of

(01:12:21):
the season, they're, you know, four and four, So.

Speaker 2 (01:12:23):
Well, yeah, there's there's a lot of teams in the mix,
but do you see them any of them Minnesota if
you want to talk about them, asking they're gonna have
to be at least six and three the rest of
the way. Yeah, Dallas is going to have to be
at least you know, six and two the rest.

Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
Of the way.

Speaker 4 (01:12:44):
All right, So when you look at Minnesota's remaining schedule,
you got the Ravens, right, you got the Bears, got
the Packers, the Seahawks, the Commanders, the Cowboys yep, the
Giant yep, the Vikings, I mean the Lion excuse me,

(01:13:05):
and the pack, they pay them, they play themselves to win.

Speaker 1 (01:13:08):
It's it's gonna be tough, gonna be real tough.

Speaker 4 (01:13:13):
Especially we don't have enough information on JJ McCarthy, but
they're in the mix.

Speaker 3 (01:13:20):
At the halfway, Mark H.

Speaker 2 (01:13:23):
Washington is on the board. Uh, they scored just before
the half. There's less than a minute to go until
the half. It is now twenty eight to seven. We
will keep you up to date. We'll keep talking all
this out. It is week nine in the National Football League.
We're in the Fox Sports Radio studios with me from Salama,
Mark Weather at Fox Sports Radio. All right, we sit
right here in the Fox Sports Radio studios, Mark Weather,

(01:13:47):
Dy from Salam, and I need to rap with you
about something real quick. May may maybe we've already done this.

Speaker 1 (01:13:56):
I can't even remember. I feel like we touched on it.

Speaker 2 (01:13:59):
But I can speak for an entire fan base right now,
and I can speak confidently for an entire fan base.
What in God's name kind of a disease did the
forty nine ers catch? And if it was one year, okay,

(01:14:22):
If it was two years, wow, If it was three years,
all right.

Speaker 1 (01:14:25):
I mean something's in the water.

Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
It's almost every single year since Kyle Shanahan started coaching
this team that they are hit with the most unbelievable
number of debilitating injuries, and a team that is sitting

(01:14:49):
here literally debating at the trade deadline how hard should
they go to find pass rushers when yes, they're six,
but so many of their good players are gone for
the year.

Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
God, is the super Bowl realistic? How hard should they try?

Speaker 2 (01:15:07):
You and I have had that talk, and then this
week I think what they did was they're like, we're
gonna bandage this thing up and see if we can
get to six and three.

Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
We'll sign Cleland Furrel off.

Speaker 2 (01:15:19):
Of the scrap heap, and we'll trade for Keon Clark
from the.

Speaker 1 (01:15:27):
I don't even know if I got his last name
right from the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
So they get a couple d linemen in there, they
win a football game. On Friday, practice, you tour Grossmatos
reaggravates his leg injury and goes on IR and their
first round draft pick, Mikel Williams today tears his ACL
on the same damn field where everybody always tears their ACL,

(01:15:55):
and I just everybody is ab.

Speaker 1 (01:16:00):
Exhausted by this.

Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
The list of forty nine or injuries and I know
there's injuries going on everywhere. Eve from its double, it's
double any other team. Can you confidently tell me that this.

Speaker 1 (01:16:16):
Is just a fluke.

Speaker 4 (01:16:21):
No, it's hard to for it to be a fluke
when there's history. There's no one offs, right, you guys
were in the top with people on IR last year
and the year before as well.

Speaker 1 (01:16:33):
Correct, well, two years ago was actually the one.

Speaker 2 (01:16:39):
There are two exceptions, and I think Kyle has been
here maybe boh, what is it eight or nine years?

Speaker 1 (01:16:46):
There's two exceptions, but two years that this didn't happen.

Speaker 2 (01:16:50):
They went to the Super Bowl both times, and two
years ago when they did go to the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (01:16:57):
It didn't happen.

Speaker 2 (01:16:58):
They were relatively healthy except for Drake Greenlaw then tours
Achilles trying to go onto the field, simply trying to
walk onto the field, and many believe that that affected
the outcome of that football game with the way it
was going.

Speaker 1 (01:17:12):
And that's neither here nor there. But the point is is.

Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
Those are the only exceptions are those two seasons.

Speaker 4 (01:17:23):
I don't know, man, it just seems like I've been
on teams and we've been hit with the injury bug
and it's not anything we're doing different, you know, it
just it happens man, each each individual. Maybe, Look, there's
something to be said about the rigors of practice. Aren't

(01:17:44):
what they used to be, so your body hasn't built
up a resistance to the speed of the game and
things like that. They're far less padded practices, right, Like,
So there's something to be said. There are all the
data is there. You just got to study it. We

(01:18:06):
were forged by fire, and this wasn't that long ago.
I mean, it's playing in the twenty ten's right, It's
like right, It's not like I'm like, well back in
the seventies, you know, we only had one time out.

Speaker 5 (01:18:18):
No, it's you know, but I mean you like, I
know you've played, I know you played for his dad.

Speaker 2 (01:18:26):
I know that you've played around Kyle Shanahan. He was
never your head coach.

Speaker 1 (01:18:29):
But like I hear, but.

Speaker 4 (01:18:31):
He came from the Gary Kopiak system, Mike Shanahan. Yeah,
they practiced fast. They didn't even in a time where
people were doing pads, they didn't do pads a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:18:42):
See I hear the op Like you tell me, I
don't know. I hear that Kyle Shanahan's training camps are
harder than most.

Speaker 4 (01:18:49):
They may be hard, but that doesn't mean they're physical.
The thing that took me by storm when I first
got to Denver is their speed of practice. We didn't
even have pads on during that and I remember Coach
Gibbs was like, hey, relax, we practice game speed, period.

(01:19:13):
There is no half speed. Everything is game speed. Their
speed of practice was was intense, and they would take
the pads off unless we you know, we can't tackle
or we're not running the ball, which we never really
had that problem in Denver. Even in Houston for that matter,
we were always physical upfront running the ball based on

(01:19:35):
the zone blocking. But you know, from my experience, the
teams I played on they hit less than anybody. Well,
we had more hat days, meaning you were hats on Fridays.
You didn't even wear helmets or showed are you know, shelves.
So I would be like, yo, my got the guys,

(01:19:57):
we need a hat day, and they're like that day, right.
So they've always been, you know, more lenient when it
came to the rigors of practiced.

Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
So maybe that's something I don't know, don't.

Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
Yeah, everybody is scratching their head, all right, with me
from slam on Mark Whillard. Two quarterbacks that we still
haven't discussed in need to coming up now. It's the
unofficial All Star break of the NFL, if you will,
they just don't get a break. But what we're looking
at right now throughout the day is the halfway point

(01:20:33):
of the NFL season. Some teams have played eight, some
have had nine. We're gonna get back to overseas games again.
Bye weeks are still coming out everybody, But this is
the halfway point, So a real good time to sit
down and discuss what we think has taken shape live
Fox Sports Radio Studios. Glad you're with us tonight on

(01:20:55):
Fox Sports Radio. So I tell you what I've noticed
a little bit of a friend. Maybe this is a
silly observation, but every single time players from the Green
Bay Packers get interviewed after big wins, they start making
incredibly large statements, sometimes about their team, sometimes about certain

(01:21:17):
players on their team. But when they sat at I
think it was only two to zero, one of their
defensive backs decided to say that I feel like we've
got the stuff to go undefeated. And then the very
next week they lost to the Cleveland Browns.

Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
And then last week, after.

Speaker 2 (01:21:35):
A win in Pittsburgh where there was a wonderful second
half and a really good performance by Jordan Love, into
the locker room we go where teammates said, y'all don't understand.

Speaker 1 (01:21:47):
He's him, that's the one, that's the guy.

Speaker 2 (01:21:52):
All right, thirteen points against Carolina at home, and there's
nothing statistically that he jumps off of the page. That
was horrible today from Jordan Love. He didn't throw any
touchdown passes. He did have a pick. It was a
bad pick. It was just a huck it up downfield
kind of for no reason into triple coverage thing, and

(01:22:15):
it didn't help them in a game that ended up
being tied with only seconds to go and Carolina kicks
a field goal to win it. At the buzzer, I'm
looking at this guy. I really let me get this
out front.

Speaker 1 (01:22:26):
I like him. I think he's a really good player.

Speaker 2 (01:22:29):
But he's one of these guys that kind of got
anointed prior to actually having to do the achievement thing.
Part of that is because of the way Green Bay
does it, where guys sit for seemingly eighteen years before
they play. But he was so far along in his career,

(01:22:50):
he came out, he played well, they went contract extension
time poof fifty five million dollars a year, and everyone
just kind of moved on with Jordan Love is amazing
And I'm certainly not suggesting Green Bay do something else
at quarterback.

Speaker 1 (01:23:04):
That's not what I'm saying at all. But who is
this guy and what is he? What do we know?
What is the identity of Jordan Love?

Speaker 2 (01:23:13):
Here he is as someone who and I'm gonna say this,
I'm not one hundred percent sure. I think he's won
one playoff game in his career. I'll confirm that, but
that's just for memory. Dallas, he'd be Dallas. And then
the very next week they came to San Francisco and

(01:23:34):
they lost that football game, and with an opportunity to
go win it, in fact, he threw an interception. So like,
good player, don't get me wrong, but there's a different
track he's on than others. And I keep finding myself
coming away just a little bit disappointed in big moments.

Speaker 1 (01:23:55):
Do you remember.

Speaker 4 (01:23:58):
What when we were talking about Green Bay before the
season started, I do what did I say?

Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
Well you in terms of just Jordan Love?

Speaker 4 (01:24:11):
Yeah, My point was I don't know if Jordan Love
is that guy. They were saying he's the odds on
favorite to win MVP, and they're you know, super Bowl Continent.
And I was like, well, wait, we'll slow down, wait
a minute, because I haven't seen.

Speaker 3 (01:24:32):
Enough from Jordan Love to warrant that. Now. I know
he's been a good player.

Speaker 4 (01:24:42):
And he had a year where he had forty one
one hundred yards, thirty two touchdowns, eleven interceptions, yep. And
I was like, okay, let's see how he follows it up.
And he had a year, you know, minus two games
that was a little below that. The next year last year,

(01:25:06):
twenty five touchdowns, eleven interception, passing rating right at ninety six.

Speaker 1 (01:25:13):
Good.

Speaker 4 (01:25:14):
Good, not him, It's not him, not him. So I said, okay,
look the last two years he's been a solid player.
Let's see what this year brings. This will tell me
what I need to know about Jordan Love. And I'm

(01:25:38):
still waiting. I'm still waiting. Right, He's put up solid numbers,
decent numbers.

Speaker 1 (01:25:46):
Yeah, the numbers are there. His rating is one hundred
and eight.

Speaker 3 (01:25:49):
Yeah, but.

Speaker 4 (01:25:52):
Let me ask you this, and this will put it
into context. If you're him, this is what him looks like.
When Lamar Jackson plays, does he jump off the screen?

Speaker 1 (01:26:03):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (01:26:04):
When Josh Allen plays, does he jump off the screen?

Speaker 1 (01:26:09):
Does?

Speaker 4 (01:26:11):
Last year when Jayden Daniels played, did he jump off
the screen big time?

Speaker 1 (01:26:17):
H C. J.

Speaker 3 (01:26:18):
Charles's rookie year?

Speaker 1 (01:26:19):
Did he jump off the screen rookie year? He did? Yeah? Right?

Speaker 4 (01:26:23):
Patrick Mahons plays especially, I mean I mean yes, right.
So when you're talking about him, Joe Burrow, when he plays,
does he jump off the screen like you're like he
could do anything? I don't get that when I see
Jordan Love play. I've never watched a Green Bay game,

(01:26:45):
and I watched all the games and said, oh, okay,
that's the probably he's a problem. You got to start
game planning for him.

Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:26:56):
I may be wrong, but that's my opinion, and that's
what I've seen, and that's how I feel about what
I've seen. It's never been oh he's oh, he's he's coming.
He's won now this year was supposed to. You know,
he has a very high passing rating.

Speaker 1 (01:27:14):
Right now.

Speaker 4 (01:27:17):
They were off to a great start. They're still a
good team. They're they're in great shape right now. But
you gotta be consistent. In my opinion, you gotta be consistent.
I just every week. It's got to be well.

Speaker 2 (01:27:34):
Listen, their two losses are the only two times that
they haven't scored at least twenty seven points in a
game all year long. Like you tie Dallas forty to forty,
I'm not gonna come after the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (01:27:49):
Right right, But what I'll tell you is, if your
defense gives up sixteen points and you're him, you gotta
score a point you can get. You got po points
on the board.

Speaker 2 (01:28:00):
Home against Carolina, who's been giving up points and buckets.
I just today, again, you look at the numbers this year.
There are probably people listening to us right now being like,
what are you guys talking about. He's been incredible, Yes,
and his numbers are incredible. I am confused by what
I saw today. I was wildly it was disjoining confused.

Speaker 3 (01:28:22):
The rhythm flow.

Speaker 2 (01:28:24):
And again at a time when the game starts to
spill into the second half and you guys are having
one of those slog type games, he decided he got impatient.

Speaker 1 (01:28:36):
Yep, they were down by a point.

Speaker 2 (01:28:39):
You're you're fine, and he got impatient and he decided
to throw a ball downfield to someone who was never
open and into triple coverage and it was an interception.
And Carolina ended up doing some things with that drive,
and they changed the momentum and the flow of the game,
and they put Green Bay in a spot where they

(01:29:01):
ended up being desperate, and they went down and got
their tying touchdown, but left time on the clock, and
Carolina was able to do enough to win the football game.
And I just, I guess it's the word you're talking about,
the lack of consistency, because I was confused by what

(01:29:21):
I saw today in a game that was set up.
I've never called something easy in the NFL, but this
was a game that was set up for Jordan to
do exactly what he normally does, to do exactly what
he's capable of doing.

Speaker 1 (01:29:37):
And there's no way in hell the Packers are losing.

Speaker 4 (01:29:40):
That football game, eliminated from the survivor pools.

Speaker 1 (01:29:44):
Sure did, Sure did a lot of people.

Speaker 4 (01:29:48):
And so like, we just watched the cream of the
crop play against each other today in a one score game,
and even with twenty seconds left and Buffalo being up
by seven and Patrick Mahomes had the ball, we felt.

Speaker 3 (01:30:13):
He could pull it off.

Speaker 1 (01:30:15):
Yeah we did, Yeah we did.

Speaker 3 (01:30:18):
That's what goes with being him.

Speaker 1 (01:30:20):
Yep.

Speaker 3 (01:30:21):
And that's what I'm talking about.

Speaker 4 (01:30:23):
And if the shoe was on the other foot, and
if it was Josh Allen, we would have been like,
oh he can pull it off or Lamar Jackson, Oh
they can pull it off. Are Joe Burrow a can
because that's what goes with him. That's all I'm saying.
I'm not discounting their record, their team's success, his numbers.
What I'm saying, for me, if he's him, then everybody

(01:30:47):
knows he's him. There's not a person who watches football
who can argue those three guys at the top for me, mahomes,
H Allen and Jackson.

Speaker 1 (01:31:04):
No, nobody can argue that.

Speaker 4 (01:31:06):
So this is what I'm saying, Like, you can't even
say Joe Burrow because they didn't win, but his sheer number,
Like I get it now, Joe Burrow doesn't equate to
wins all the time.

Speaker 3 (01:31:20):
He doesn't. Matter of fact, the Bengals are winning without.

Speaker 1 (01:31:25):
Him kind of yeah, sort of sort of. They're moving
the ball.

Speaker 4 (01:31:33):
They look they look just like it looks the same.
It looks say, yes, they do you know as uh
you know, the the Ravens were two and five without Lamar.

Speaker 3 (01:31:47):
Or whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:31:47):
You know.

Speaker 4 (01:31:47):
He Yeah, I mean he was there early. Yes, so
for me, it's like, okay, be him. But let's right,
Like I said, before the season even started, I'm he
was a favorite to win MVP, and I was like, man,
I've never seen him play to where I was like, man,

(01:32:08):
he's the MVP, and I was looking forward to seeing
that this year. This game doesn't help that. Now it's
a whole half a season left and he could turn
it on and scorch earth right, fifty two hundred yards,
forty five touchdowns, you know, twelve intercept like what it

(01:32:34):
could be that? And then I'm like, oh, okay, number
one seed for Green Bay. Now we're having a different conversation.
Now we're having a different conversation because all those hymns
have been the number one seed before.

Speaker 1 (01:32:49):
Yeah? Amen? Right? Am I wrong? Nope? Nope?

Speaker 2 (01:32:54):
Okay, Yeah, We're gonna see where this goes in the
NFC for sure. That's it from Salah Mark Ward coming
up next, there's another quarterback I want to get to. Plus,
I want to continue that overtime discussion that we started
last hour as well, that's all still ahead right here
on Fox Sports Radio. So we're live in the Fox

(01:33:15):
Sports Radio studios.

Speaker 1 (01:33:17):
If you missed any of today's.

Speaker 2 (01:33:18):
Show, you're gonna want to catch the podcast. You search
Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts. Right after
the show, Today's podcast to be posted, so be sure
to follow the podcast rady to five provide a review
if you're so inclined. Again, you search Fox Sports Radio
wherever you get your podcasts. You find today's full show
posted right after we get off of the air. New rule,

(01:33:45):
if I were in charge, you have to be within
two scores to do that whole defensive celebration thing when
you get a turnover, you know, yeah, like that, you
know what? Everybody it runs down to the other end
of the field and they kind of look up at

(01:34:06):
the fans and it's almost like it literally looks like
a flash mob's about to break out, Like you got
all eleven of them down there.

Speaker 1 (01:34:13):
And about to like, okay, step to the right, step
to the left.

Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
We got an interception, dog, you're down by twenty four.

Speaker 1 (01:34:24):
What is it you want the fans to do when
you go wave to.

Speaker 4 (01:34:27):
That, get up and go to the sideline like what
do you end it to the equipment guy?

Speaker 3 (01:34:31):
You put your name on it later. But you's work
to be done.

Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
And we're like, I know, I think I hate the
anti fund, you know, like I don't want anti fund,
I don't want to be the fast down any.

Speaker 1 (01:34:44):
But dude likes you work to be done well. But
and you know how.

Speaker 2 (01:34:47):
Awkward that is when you strut up to the fans
and looked them in the eye. They paid four hundred
and thirteen dollars to watch you be down twenty eight
nothing in the first half.

Speaker 4 (01:34:57):
Oh the ones did are watch looking at you in
your They didn't pay four hundred.

Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
Whatever, right, I know, exactly four hundred and eighty dollars
just a food right, Like, what do you want them
to do? What do you want them to do? Pump
their fist, slap their chest. It's just I don't know, man,
I just watched this. The Commanders just got an interception.

(01:35:24):
They're down thirty one to seven. Sam Donald has carved
that defensive backfield up as if they're not even there.

Speaker 3 (01:35:33):
Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (01:35:33):
Then one dude.

Speaker 2 (01:35:34):
Gets a pick and now we're strutting and mean mugging
in the end zone. Okay, okay, buddy, That's what I
would do if I were a fan down there. All right, buddy,
all right, nice play thirty one to seven and we're
barely into the third quarter.

Speaker 1 (01:35:58):
What are we doing? So?

Speaker 2 (01:36:01):
Yeah, you know how the league has always had this
this whole kind of thing about trying to figure out
how to flag celebrations or not.

Speaker 1 (01:36:08):
Yeah, any celebration. There you go. You can do whatever
the hell you want. But if you're down by more
than two scores, it's flag fifteen yards. I agree with that.
Inappropriate celebration, not excessive. Inappropriate. Yeh, inappropriate celebration. Anyway, that's

(01:36:31):
so funny. Hey, talk to me about cam Ward.

Speaker 2 (01:36:39):
No one's talking about cam Ward because like whatever Titans
football this year, most nondescript thing I've ever seen. But
am I supposed to just like the whole teams in
transition coaching transition, doesn't have weapons, doesn't have anything around them.

Speaker 1 (01:36:56):
Sort of a thing.

Speaker 2 (01:36:59):
Or are we allowed to talk about the fact that
he does not look like an exciting young NFL.

Speaker 1 (01:37:05):
Quarterback at all? Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:37:08):
No, we can talk about it.

Speaker 1 (01:37:09):
Okay, what do you say?

Speaker 4 (01:37:11):
I mean, whenever you're the first pick in the draft, man,
it's you don't get to there's no kid gloves here.
We've seen first picks in the draft drag teams from
obscurity before. Now, granted, you have to have a few
things in place. Leadership number one starts from up top.

(01:37:38):
Got out the right coach. It helps to have players around.
But you know, sometimes it is what it is. Right,
you're the first pick in the draft for a reason. Right,
you're gonna be the phase of the franchise. You gotta
do some heavy lifting.

Speaker 3 (01:37:58):
They don't.

Speaker 4 (01:37:58):
They don't have a lot of talent on that team.
And so what happens when talented young quarterbacks, especially get
to places where there aren't a lot of talent, they
develop bad habits because they're trying to do things to
change the culture, changed everything. It happened to Derek Carr

(01:38:22):
when he came out of Fresno State and then went
to Houston. It was zero in place, expansion team. It
just he developed horrible.

Speaker 2 (01:38:31):
Habits, like horrible habit and is running for his life.

Speaker 4 (01:38:38):
And they stayed with him. Those habits stayed with him,
and it was hard to break those habits. After four
or five years, you just you couldn't break them because
it just became who you were as a player. Like
running out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage, that's
a sack. So if you do that three times in

(01:38:59):
a game, that's three sacks. No one touched you, right, Like,
those are bad habits, I like my passion rating and
all of them complete passes. These are bad habits that
you're allowed to get away with. So now can look

(01:39:21):
at what Ben Johnson is doing, and he's trying to
unbreak some things with Caleb Williams right right, he developed
bad habits in college. He was Caleb Williams, so he
was allowed to get away with him. Ben Johnson is like, yeah,
that's not how we run offense here, and so there

(01:39:42):
was a little you know, pushback, but it seems to
be working as well, because structure is what you do need,
no matter what you do, need structure, and you need
to be able to trust the structure that's being built.
And I'm not sure, Well, I know cam Wore doesn't

(01:40:03):
have that. So you know, does he have talent? Yeah,
he has talent. He can throw the ball. I've seen
him make some throws, but I've seen him miss some throws.
I've seen him not get the ball out on time.
But offensive line's not very good, can't run the ball
that well, defense, you know all these things. So I

(01:40:26):
don't want to be too hard on the young man
because he's not in a place where, you know, like
what c. J. Stroud did in Houston, they got the
coach right immediately they did, then they hit on the
rest of the draft. You got to remember they drafted

(01:40:46):
extremely well that year. Now he wasn't not just that pick,
but you got c. J. Stroud and Will Anderson in
the top five boom. That can change your no doubt,
along with the head coach people respect, and the staff
that people that can change. And it did. We saw

(01:41:07):
a work last year. Jayden Daniels goes to Washington right
at a bevy of former head coaches on that staff,
putting things in place.

Speaker 1 (01:41:22):
Right.

Speaker 4 (01:41:22):
You draft right, not just the first pick, not just
the one guy. But there's a method to it. When
when when Andrew Luck came out of Stanford and drug
uh what were they three and thirteen? I believe drug

(01:41:44):
them to eleven and five in the playoffs, there was
a coaching staff in place and he rolls that level.

Speaker 3 (01:41:57):
There was trust there.

Speaker 4 (01:41:59):
Camas trying to figure it out like I'm trying to
figure out what Steve is gonna bless us with.

Speaker 1 (01:42:06):
Now, what's he going to say?

Speaker 8 (01:42:10):
Well, you had mentioned the name Andrew Luck. That dovetails
with what I mentioned last hour about Justin Herbert being
hit so much. He's being hit like Andrew Lucks in
his first five six Andrew Luck got sacked one hundred
and fifty times in his first five years in the league.
What you mentioned with David Carr with the expansion Houston Texans,

(01:42:31):
that's over twenty years ago. Now, that team eventually got
it together because they drafted Dimico Ryans from Alabama and
they drafted Brian Cushing from usc and they were both
Rookie of the Year and by the end of their
first decade as a franchise, they won their division back
to back years. I went to the first ever road
game of the Texans and Carr was at quarterback. He

(01:42:52):
finished six of twenty five passing and was sacked nine times.
He had more time sacked than completions, and by the
end of the season he had been sacked seventy sixty
seventy times. He had another season where he was sacked
sixty eight times. He had a decade in the league
and was sacked two hundred and sixty seven times.

Speaker 3 (01:43:16):
Wow.

Speaker 8 (01:43:17):
Well another wow. In the NFL just today, we've had
nine games decided by one score. We had the Jacksonville
overtime win. We had three others that were decided with
a score in the last minute. Chicago, Carolina, Denver Tonight's
Sunday night game. Probably not going to be one of
those games, look that way. Seattle is up thirty one

(01:43:37):
seven at Washington about five minutes to go third quarter
because of Sam Donald's first half. Apparently in a primetime game.
In the last twenty years, only one other quarterback had
had a perfect passer rating first half and four total touchdowns,
and that was Michael Vick at Washington in twenty ten.
Sam Darnald in the first half was sixteen of sixteen
through the air two hundred and eighty two yards. He

(01:44:00):
had touchdown passes on their first four drives, and then
they kicked a field goal at the end of the
first half. Jaden Daniels has one interception, one touchdown run.
Sam Darnold's over three hundred yards passing on nineteen of
twenty one through the air. Thirty one to seven. Seattle
leads on the road ready to go to six and
two on the season. Meanwhile, it's not a six and

(01:44:23):
two record for the Kansas City Chiefs. They got beaten
at Buffalo twenty eight to twenty one, and they're not
winning the close games anymore. Only once before have we
had four losses in a row that were decided by
eight points or fewer. With these Chiefs, they used to
win all of those games. A couple years ago they
had this type of string with Mahomes at quarterback. But

(01:44:44):
in between right now and a couple of years ago,
the Chiefs had an NFL record seventeen straight wins in
games decided by eight points or fewer a loss on
the road today, Josh Allen three total touchdowns. Next Sunday,
buff is at Miami, which is two and seven. Jacksonville
won an overtime at Las Vegas thirty to twenty nine,

(01:45:06):
a stat that comes straight from the NFL. Aston Genti
is the first NFL rookie since the early eighties to
have in his first eight career games at least three
rushing touchdowns and three receiving touchdowns. Hasn't happened since Marcus
Allen nineteen eighty two, and the Vegas Raiders did lose
again in overtime, missing a two point pass at the

(01:45:28):
end thirty to twenty nine Jaguars the final. By the way,
the Raiders also missed an extra point kick late in
the first half. Gino Smith's four touchdown passes one interception,
we did see a new NFL record as the Jags.

Speaker 3 (01:45:41):
Cam Little booted.

Speaker 8 (01:45:42):
A sixty eight yard field goal at the end of
the first half. He also kicked a forty eight yard
er late in regulation to tie Rams over New Orleans
thirty four to ten. Matthew Stafford four touchdown passes, two
to DeVante Adams. Kyron Williams had one hundred and fourteen
yards rushing in a short TD Earlier in the NFL,
Pittsburgh beat an Indianapolis team that was seven and one

(01:46:04):
did have the top offense in the league. Steelers were
up twenty seven to ten with under five minutes left,
twenty seven to twenty the final. Denver is seven and
two after winning at Houston eighteen fifteen on a field
goal in the final play New England seven and two
after edging Atlanta twenty four to twenty three as the
Falcons missed an extra point kick with under five minutes left.

(01:46:24):
Patriots have won six in a row. By the way,
Denver has won six in a row. Chargers six and three.
They won at Tennessee twenty seven to twenty Justin Herbert
three total touchdowns. Carolina won at Green Bay sixteen thirteen
on a forty nine yard field goal on the final play.
Minnesota won at Detroit twenty seven to twenty four. San
Francisco six and three after a win at the Giants

(01:46:47):
thirty four twenty four Christian McCaffrey a touchdown run, touchdown catch.
In fact, he had twenty eight carries for one hundred
and six yards rushing, also five catches for another sixty
seven yards. Niner scored thirty four today. They had been
averaging just twenty points a game lowest since coach Kyle
Shanahan's first year there high scoring game at Cincinnati. If

(01:47:08):
you've seen the Bengals defense, you know why Chicago forty
seven to forty two the final. Now, the Bears had
best in the league in turnover marchin coming in a
plus ten Joe Flacco four touchdown passes but three turnovers
as well. He had four hundred and seventy yards through
the air in a loss. The Bengals have the worst

(01:47:29):
defense in the NFL. They were already allowing about thirty
one points a game on average over four hundred yards
a game. They allowed five hundred and seventy six yards
to the Chicago Bears today. No, this was not a
big twelve conference game. By the way, We've got a
Monday nighter coming up with Arizona at Dallas Cowboys with

(01:47:50):
the top offense in the NFL. Well, let's get to
the real, the whole truth out there. Because the Cowboys
average thirty one points a game and they allow thirty
one points. Auburn fired coach Hugh Freeze. In his three
years there. Auburn was six and sixteen in conference and
must mention, and they mentioned it on the Sunday night
NFL game. Former Bengals tight end Bob Trump he passed

(01:48:13):
away at the age of eighty. The Bengals announced that
this morning. He was known to some of us as
one of the voices of the AFC telecasts on NBC
for so many years, worked for Super Bowls, Olympics, Ryder Cups,
so many things. A talk show in Cincinnati lived for
decades in Ohio, Bob Trumpy passing away. This weekend NHL
wins for Calgary and the Islanders for Tampa Bay as

(01:48:36):
well in the NBA late games. We've got the Lakers
at home already up sixty five point fifty on Miami,
still four and a half minutes to go in the
first half. Luka Donsich in fourteen minutes on the court
has sixteen points and six assists. Oklahoma City seven and
oh after ripping New Orleans. Chicago was five and oh,
but lost at New York tonight. San Antonio Spurs were

(01:48:58):
five and oh. They've just lost at Phoenix. Seattle's driving again.

Speaker 3 (01:49:02):
What do you know?

Speaker 8 (01:49:03):
Two and a half minutes to go in the third quarter.
For the moment, it's thirty one to seven over Washington.
Apparently the Seahawks down to the one yard line, a
third and goal coming up.

Speaker 1 (01:49:13):
Back to you and yep, thank you, Steve.

Speaker 2 (01:49:16):
Great stuff tonight as always, and we will keep you
up to date, because yeah, the Seahawks are just short
and so it'll be fourth down and I'm really hoping
that the Seahawks both go for it and then Washington
stops them so that the Washington defense can run around
the field and celebrate.

Speaker 1 (01:49:35):
What do you think let's do it?

Speaker 3 (01:49:37):
Hi, Steve, are you going to the parade tomorrow for
the Dodgers?

Speaker 1 (01:49:44):
That's a yes? Are you that's it? No?

Speaker 3 (01:49:49):
Why where what? I have a day job?

Speaker 1 (01:49:53):
I do tell I would imagine a man of your
stature could get the day off if he wants. No, okay, okay, boy.

Speaker 2 (01:50:07):
If I've ever seen a sign of somebody who thinks
that these do just come around every year, man, No, I'll.

Speaker 1 (01:50:13):
Skip the parade. We'll go to next year's.

Speaker 4 (01:50:15):
I'm not a real big fan of like crowd, so
you can't.

Speaker 1 (01:50:24):
Probably you probably kind of stand out a little bit,
don't you.

Speaker 3 (01:50:27):
But that's just not my.

Speaker 1 (01:50:29):
Yeah, I get it.

Speaker 2 (01:50:32):
I've actually only been to one championship parade before in
my life, and it was in a work capacity. And yeah,
there's a lot, it's a lot. It's fun though, it's fun.
It's definitely fun. But yeah, I've only done that once.

Speaker 1 (01:50:54):
Have you done it before? No?

Speaker 4 (01:50:57):
No, no, I've been to my own parade. But like
with the team, when we won the NFC championship and
we got back from the Super Bowl, there was a parade.

Speaker 3 (01:51:08):
Yes, we hadn't been there and ever I understand that.

Speaker 1 (01:51:12):
No, I'm not taking a shot.

Speaker 2 (01:51:13):
I've never heard of a parade for a team that
didn't win the whole thing.

Speaker 3 (01:51:17):
No, it was a big thing. It was a big deal.

Speaker 1 (01:51:19):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:51:19):
It was fun.

Speaker 1 (01:51:21):
Did you get to be like on the top of
a bus or something?

Speaker 3 (01:51:23):
It was it was we did it.

Speaker 4 (01:51:27):
Was it before we went to the Super Bowl? I
think it was after we won the NFC championship.

Speaker 1 (01:51:32):
During that two week break rad.

Speaker 3 (01:51:35):
Yeah, it was great, man, it was. It was fantastic.

Speaker 1 (01:51:38):
You were like in an open air vehicle.

Speaker 3 (01:51:40):
Yeah, it was a parade.

Speaker 1 (01:51:42):
Okay, we know we all drove our own cars. I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:51:44):
I mean some guys are on foot. The one that
I went to was a warrior parade and some people
just got out start cruising around.

Speaker 4 (01:51:52):
Yeah, I mean we jumped, We jumped out off the
thing and were walking kissing babies and shaking hands and
stuff like that.

Speaker 3 (01:51:59):
Yeah. It's a big deal, big big deal.

Speaker 1 (01:52:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:52:05):
All right, Well, I wonder if tomorrow's parade we'll also
represent change.

Speaker 1 (01:52:14):
We did talk about this before.

Speaker 2 (01:52:16):
I'm very curious to see what baseball does, because Baseball
was very worried that the Dodgers were going to win it,
and now we're going to have to be like, well, now.

Speaker 1 (01:52:23):
We have to we have to change the rules now
because this is this is too much. I'm curious. Rob
Henford's the one who said it, not me.

Speaker 3 (01:52:34):
Yeah, I mean this is what's going to stop that?

Speaker 1 (01:52:42):
What's that?

Speaker 3 (01:52:42):
The floor?

Speaker 4 (01:52:45):
Well, probably you want to put a cap on it.
Got to raise the floor. Yeah, and the owners are
gonna be like, ah, you know what, yeah, maybe not.
We're okay, yeah, you put that floor on there. You
have to spin this in my lot of money. Then
you go, oh, well that won't have a lot of

(01:53:05):
A's situations. We won't have a lot of uh White
Sox situation.

Speaker 2 (01:53:11):
Well, it's fine, and then some of your team. There's
plenty of people who will do it and do it right.
There's plenty of people. I mean the White Sox. My god,
they're in Chicago. What are we small market Chicago?

Speaker 1 (01:53:26):
Right?

Speaker 3 (01:53:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:53:27):
What are we doing?

Speaker 3 (01:53:28):
Hey? They got they got the Cubs?

Speaker 1 (01:53:31):
Man, yeah, no, they are number two. I get that.
I get that all right.

Speaker 2 (01:53:37):
Like the Clippers, right, let mean, except for they got
picked up by like the richest dude in all of.

Speaker 3 (01:53:45):
The Clippers got sold for two billion dollars. Lakers got
sold for ten billion dollars. Yeah, yeah, that explains it.

Speaker 1 (01:53:52):
No, no, nobody's nobody's comparing the two.

Speaker 3 (01:53:55):
I'm just saying that's for.

Speaker 1 (01:53:56):
Sure, all right. Fox Worts Radio Studios.

Speaker 2 (01:54:02):
A little bit more on all of that actually coming
up as we head for our finish line and hand
it off to Plank and Spaniard.

Speaker 1 (01:54:09):
That's it from Salama Mark Ward. This is Fox Sports Radio.

got Ronald just taking als man.

Speaker 3 (01:54:54):
This year been tough for been tough for Toronto.

Speaker 2 (01:54:58):
Man hey now this leave it, leave it goodness, all right,
leave it.

Speaker 4 (01:55:07):
And I like us man, they do have a universal
healthcare though, Get some of that, Get some of that?

Speaker 1 (01:55:15):
Would you would you? Would you trade your World Series
ring for free health care?

Speaker 3 (01:55:20):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:55:21):
I would?

Speaker 3 (01:55:22):
I would, yeah, because that matters.

Speaker 2 (01:55:25):
So you know, I teach on the side, right of course,
every single time profess somebody, every every time somebody earns as,
I can't get it out of my head.

Speaker 1 (01:55:40):
Dude, hey my names.

Speaker 2 (01:55:45):
Yeah, yeah, that's actually a fun little thing to uh,
to play with, you know, like what would you uh,
what would you trade your your championships for? It's so funny.
I'll tell you. I think I told you this before,
like one of the survivor pools that I that I

(01:56:07):
mess around with. It's like a whole lot of lot
of lot of hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of people
and not the cheapest thing in the world. So we're
talking about kind of like a significant amoun of many, right,

(01:56:29):
I'll leave it at that.

Speaker 3 (01:56:30):
Yeah, I know, I remember, I remember this conversation.

Speaker 2 (01:56:33):
Okay, So my daughter the other week is like huge.
She is huge Niner fan huge. She has gotten into
this at such a level and she is so so
so into everything that the forty nine ers are doing and.

Speaker 1 (01:56:53):
It devastated her for weeks when Fred Warner got hurt.
I still don't think she's over it, by the way, but.

Speaker 2 (01:56:59):
It is certain point. The conversation kind of came up
of like, would you rather the forty nine ers win
the Super Bowl? Or would you rather, uh, would you
like to would you like to win that pool? She
had the hardest time because I was like, girl, I

(01:57:24):
would rather win the pool.

Speaker 1 (01:57:28):
She's like, I got a real minor fan.

Speaker 2 (01:57:31):
I'm like, no, I'm I'm an adult, and you are
going to college in a couple of years, right, And
like I love my teams, but like they're just they're
just teams. They're just they're playing like I want I
want to don't know them right, Like I don't get

(01:57:51):
a ring. I'm not in the parade. I don't get
a playoff bonus. Like if you can if you're talking
about like you could change are our whole our whole
lives over here versus your favorite team winning the whole thing.

Speaker 1 (01:58:08):
Yeah, we can wait till next year on the team
is what I'm thinking.

Speaker 2 (01:58:13):
So anyway, Yeah, you want free healthcare or you want
that game last night?

Speaker 1 (01:58:20):
What you want healthcare for me? Man? Right?

Speaker 3 (01:58:25):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:58:25):
Oh god, that's the one thing. That's the one thing
that I try. I tried my butt off because man,
we love this stuff, we love this stuff so much.
But I'm always just like, we're here for the wins.
So when your team wins, celebrate the hell out of it, man.
But when your team loses, get over it in five seconds.

(01:58:48):
Get over it in five seconds, you know what I mean.
I did feel for some of those facial expressions in
Toronto last night.

Speaker 1 (01:58:55):
Oh boy, those people, those people.

Speaker 2 (01:59:00):
My wife at one point, you remember the remember the
guy that had his was on top of the dugout
with his head in his hands, in his arms. Yes,
she goes, he just tired. He's not tired.

Speaker 1 (01:59:15):
She's like, what time is it? There? I go, He's
like midnight. She's like, he's exhausted.

Speaker 2 (01:59:20):
I'm like, he is stressed, out of his mind and
wide awake. Yeah, that's my favorite conversation.

Speaker 1 (01:59:30):
No, he just tired.

Speaker 2 (01:59:32):
It's been too long, the game taking too long. This
series did expose who's a real baseball fan and who's not.
Absolutely some people thought it was great theater. Other people
were like, are they still playing?

Speaker 1 (01:59:45):
Good?

Speaker 4 (01:59:46):
God, that was great. Baseball needed it, We needed it
as fans.

Speaker 2 (01:59:52):
Good series, man. Congrat's on your your championship. You because
it's gonna be the last one l A gets this year.

Speaker 1 (01:59:59):
I'll see brother
