the tenth inning. We had all this stuff, and do

you notice we're still not scoring runs. I'm sorry, it's
too hard to hit, like one hundred and four miles
an hour. These are human beings. We got to do
something because it's too hard to hit. And before I
could get to the take, the Dodgers.

Had scored eighteen runs, the Rays.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
Had scored I think sixteen runs, somebody else, somebody else
had scored seventeen runs. And then right as I was
about to deliver it, Steve comes on at seven thirty
Pacific and goes the Nationals have scored eight runs and
there's nobody out in the first inning.

Oh my goodness.

And I'm like, they're.

They're not even a good team. And so I'm like,
I don't know, maybe I just got to save this
for tomorrow night. But right as we were about to
take care tonight, Ross hit a home run for the Yanks,
proving once again that it's too easy to hit. In
twenty twenty five. Tigers and Royals did play a one
nothing game. Today, so did the Astros and Rays.

Mariners beat the Twins two to one, Diamondbacks beat the
Nats one.

See, I had my take. I did it on the

I just you know, and look, I was enthralled by
that Dodgers game.

To me, it was like, man, I can go hit
a home run, or I could go get a hit.

about baseball is you can have a doubleheader the same

and the next day, which is today. It's just it's

crazy to me, just to you know, less than twelve
hours ago. You couldn't get every single person. They were
bringing guys in. I don't even know we're in baseball
yesterday the Dodgers were, you know, people were making their

debut and all kinds of stuff, and it just was
for me. It was fun. It was great. I love
when a bunch of runs are on. I wish they
were more hitting. I wish everyone could hit like that.
I think it'll bring uh the excitement to the to
the game that baseball desperately needs.

And look, the Dodgers are trying to do that.

The Padres and the Yankees are trying to do that
with these stacked rosters. Bat in order one through four
or one through five on any of those teams is
an All Star team.

I mean, like and Dodger fans know this. Their team
has been beset by the most unbelievable set of pitching injuries,

Other than him, the whole pitching staffs hurt.

with the physicality and the NBA playoffs, you get to
the baseball playoffs and usually who has the best bullpen
starts to kind of more become a thing than it
is regular season. And you know, so if the Dodgers

are not healthy in the pitching staff, then then maybe
that puts them in a in a bad spot. But
they're dude, Yeah, their lineup is intense. It's it's completely intense.
It's funny what you're bringing up. Like, I think we've
talked about this before, but it is. It's the only sport.
Imagine if in the NBA, like if you played a

seven game series, but only twice in the seven game series,
could you use your best player? Right, that's it? Yeah, twice,
Like it's a new lineup. Ever, I get you can
put your your starting nine out there, but sort of
like a quarterback in football, you're your most important player
is that guy who's out there on the mound. And

it has to be a different person every day, which
is why baseball sometimes does field.

have been pitchers in the league that have won MVPs
and they play every five games, I mean every five
days or so, and so every five games, I believe

And I was, We've been cleaning out of the house,
so I found a lot of old stuff. I got
my let. I got my first college letter after my
first year playing football. My sophomore year, I got a
letter from the what school, uh, University of Illinois to
fighting alone.

Oh yeah, for real.

It wasn't like uh.

Didn't okay, And I didn't even know what it was.
My coach was like, hey, I got something for you.
And this is pre internet, so it's no highlight tapes
and none of that. Like, I don't even know what happened.
But my sophomore year, I played varsity. Then my junior
year played varsity well you know, but then it was

just an onslaught after like, by my junior year, it
was it was just NonStop. And then my senior year
that's when basketball really started, and it was just like
sometimes the college coaches would come basketball and football together,

and so it was, you know, it was it happened fast.

They never never come all the way to the living room.

Did you ever know? Yo, they came in. Hey, you know,
a great opportunity.

But I.

As a coach, as a youth coach, I tell parents
all the time, Hey, they have time. Mm hmm, it's okay,
just they have time. And parents want their nine ten
year olds to be ready, pro ready right now. And
it's not the case. It's not don't happened like that.

They got plenty of They may have been a two
years and not want to play it, then come back
and play again and totally maybe their friend is playing
in high school so they joined back on the team.

Like wait, you're nine years old, ten years old, you're
not going to the league tomorrow.

No.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
I always like, and I don't want to judge, because like,
you know, look, do whatever's best for your family. But
I always see, like when I drive by the park
on the off day and that ten year old or
the eleven year old or the twelve year old is
out there with a personal coach, I'm like, y'all need
to calm down, just like because they're not going to

have fun. That's just That's my quick thing is I
think it increases the likelihood that they burnt out when
they're fifteen, you know what I mean. This is something
that and this is just a rando example, but this
is something I remember Sam Darnold talking a lot about
his family, you know, was sort of asked like, you.

Know, what, what was the path.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
That you chose, and they were like, we sent him outside,
We told him to go have fun.

So he played everything.

And he grew up in San Clementi, so the beach
was right there, so he went to the beach and
now he makes thirty three million dollars a year to
play quarterback in the NFL.

So, like, I just I'm always leaning kind of in
that direction, and so sometimes, you know, sometimes I do
get caught asleep at the wheel in terms of like, oops,
we didn't sign up for this or that or whatever,
and you know, why didn't you do this because this
is a good athlete or whatever, And I'm like, I
don't know, man, I'm just trying to I'm just whatever
season it is, what you want to do. Let's you know,

let's go have fun and plenty of time to do
whatever you're gonna do. Because, oh, by the way, you're
probably also not going to be a professional athlete.

gentlemen we just about had the worst way to end
a season in the history of any ballgame ever BECAUSE
ucla was trailing with two outs in the final inning

Homer they've had a lot of thrillers like. That they
did it again. Today the dugout. Empties the entire roster
is surrounding home plate and going crazy as the one
who hit the home run rounds the, bases steps on
home and. Celebrates or did she step on? Home the

replays appeared to show, no she stepped over home plate
lord and then congratulated her, teammates and then the replay
shows that one of the teammates actually led the home run,
hitter taking her, arm having her back up a few
steps and retouch home plate just in. Case so this was.

the home? Run keep in mind the tying home run
comes with two outs in the final. Inning if this gets,
