Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
That's right. We're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio
studios here on a Fox Sports Saturday and a Los
Angeles Alex that is excited. Let's go, baby, a Los
Angeles that had an emergency press conference as on the
first day it was possible, the first day he was eligible,
(00:28):
the Los Angeles Lakers said, Luka Doncic, I know that
Dallas didn't want you, but you know what, Baby, we
sure do to the tune of three years, one hundred
and sixty five million dollars, tell him, I talk to
evil with a player option in twenty twenty eight. Now
(00:48):
he could have had.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
A player option going in.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
He could have declined it got a big deal in
the free agent market, the Lakers said, we are not
going to allow that to happen. He's only played twenty
eight games for the Lakers. However, this deal right here
pretty much solidifies what many people were saying six months
ago to the day after we got over the shock
(01:15):
that Luka Dancic was traded in the dark of night,
like the Baltimore Colts moving to Indianapolis, Like we all said,
wait a minute, Shamsday, Cham's got too many chams. Has
been at the bar, must have been it's a little
too late for this. Or you wake up and say, oh,
rub your eyes and you remember where you were.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
That wasn't where war was. I was sitting.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Oh, I absolutely remember where I was because I had
just gotten off the radio about an hour prior. I
had drove home and I was sitting in my car
doing what I do. Will probably do.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
The same thing this Saturday afternoon evening.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Rather I should say, oh, sit in my car and
I'll listen to whatever Jason Martin and Aaron Torres are
talking about. Once I pull into the house. I don't
sit there and listen all four hours, but I will,
you know, especially if it's a conversation I'm into. I'll
listen to, you know, until they get the commercial break,
and then I'll go.
Speaker 5 (02:12):
I was in the garden when the Lakers that was
the Laker Lebron triple double knight at Massive Square Garden.
Last thing I was thinking walking home, and that was
that news was gonna drop.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
Hey where were you moment? Without question?
Speaker 2 (02:25):
So I'm texting with Aaron Torre, friends with outside of
you know, Fox Sports Radio, uh, you know, just for
friendly guys who've known each other for years. So I'll
texted him of like he he I text him like, Yo,
you saw the Shams tweet right, Like, because you're on
the radio, sometimes you're not seeing things.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
You don't see things you kind of rely on others
to see.
Speaker 2 (02:48):
I know I have the notifications that from Sham's account,
so I know this isn't like you know, Shams, you
know you can get sentel. This is not the centel
a right exactly. I knew it was either somebody had
to either send that from his phone or it was legit.
And then I saw a guy who is one degree
(03:10):
of separation away from Shams being like, Hey, this is real.
Speaker 4 (03:14):
This is real.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
And so once I saw that, I was like, I
think this is a real thing.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
I think you have to start talking about this trade
past this reportedly stage. You know, you might as well
just go ahead and be ready to discuss it. So
I do remember where I was, and I remember I
did not get out of the car that day. I
stepped through the commercial break to hear Aeron and Jason
were going to say much like I'll hear what they're
(03:43):
going to say about this contract extension today. But the
thing about this one Today's You know, it took twenty
eight games for the Lakers, and obviously, I say before
twenty eight games, this is a contract that was going
to be offered as soon as the trade was accepted, right,
and there's.
Speaker 4 (04:02):
Been this.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
I don't know how how would you describe the coverage
of Luka Dancic since the trade. I think there's been
maybe two or three unique stages of it. Why don't
you go ahead, I want to I want your opinion
first before I tell him.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
I mean, out the gate, it was all about how
he was going to perform in the shock trade of
the world. Then it was about his frame going from
festively plumped to now the cover of Men's Health, and
now it's okay, he's locked in saying being the Lakers
in honor and I want my name and number in
those rafters.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
So pretty much, I think it's the same beats because
it was shock and then Nico Harrison went on a
smear campaign and then Men's Health was like, we got you, buddy,
congratulations you've been working out, and so that's my I
just find it the rehab of his image, because it
definitely was a level of I would they give up
(05:01):
on him, right, Why would the Mavericks give up on him?
And I still stand by it. I said it when
the ment health article came out, and I'll say it again.
To me, that was vindication for Nico Irrison. It really was,
because this deal is not what the Mavericks would have sent.
Luca would have made significantly more if he had stayed
to Dallas Maverick and they would evolve. They and you
(05:24):
can't not offer there's no negotiation here right and in
the NBA, honestly, negotiation is almost a little bit of
a lost art, especially when you look at some of
the way these teams like just re up rookie deals
max extensions with no questions. The Houston Rockets one of
the few teams that are actually negotiating Luka doncis was
(05:44):
going to get. There is no negotiation for that. He's
going to get the biggest part of the cap that
can get. He's taking every dollar sure, And so if
he's gonna do that and he's not gonna commit himself
to getting better, it's not gonna consisted of a working
out vindication in my opinion, right like cause you can't
(06:05):
I get it. The get back was not as much
as you'd like. But if he's he was not going
to do this for your team.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
How much do you think Mark Walter taking over the
team is a big reason why there was no hesitation
the first day they could sign him.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Oh, I think that there's Once Rob Polinka rolls over,
answers the phone out in his sleep and says, Nicogo's
it's it's eleven thirty at night. What's up man?
Speaker 4 (06:36):
He said, you know, like, what's what's going Is everything okay?
Are you okay? Yeah? Yeah, I'll trade for Lucada.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Hold on, hold on, babe, you won't. You won't believe
this man, like you know it was it was wake up.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
You won't believe Well.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
The call I just got hold let me let me
make sure he's down the line. You there, Yeah, like
once he got and got that call. From that moment
coming on, once Genie says, hey, we're making this deal.
Every move from that moment on, it's about Luca doncis
being the center of your heliocentric universe?
Speaker 4 (07:13):
Can I throw to you?
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Though?
Speaker 5 (07:14):
Because I watched it on the drive up by the way,
the four five had the least amount of traffic in
every Saturday I don't know if that's lucas everybody watching.
Everyone's locked in the four five was a treat. Never
happens on a Saturday. But they asked about Lebron Luca's
body language, he looks down, he didn't look down the
whole press conference, and Rob gave a very political answer,
(07:35):
in short, we want him to decide with his family
or respect what he wants to do when he wants
to do it. What say you on all things Lebron
here on Luca Donches Saturday?
Speaker 3 (07:46):
I thought it was fascinating.
Speaker 2 (07:51):
I saw Rachel Nichols post she was there, boots on
the ground. Yeah, at the Luka Donc's press conference. I
looked at it, and she tweeted most of the Lakers
here to support Luca. Now, I'm not accusing Rachel of
starting any fire or anything. I did that all by myself.
(08:11):
I retweeted it myself and said, ha ha ha, somebody's
missing still the pop babe, which I got several funny
answers on Twitter because some people said, you know.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
Bronni obviously not there.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
Rob Ge said often Reeve's not there and Lebron not there.
Now the two biot guys, Marcus Smart Andre Ayton.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
We're both there who have been you know, big.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Alleged recruited by Luca Doncis and I guess on Marcus
smartspart you don't have to say allegedly because he literally
told everybody that that's what it was. But to your point,
Rob Polinka at the press conference sets quote regarding Lebron
James quote, if.
Speaker 3 (08:58):
You had a chance to retire a Laker, that would
be great.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Political.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
If he had a chance to retire a Laker, that
would be great.
Speaker 4 (09:08):
I should play Luca right now for the radio allios.
I'm looking down. My arms are folded.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Now that'll be out here. Because I know the NBA,
CBA is different. It's changed now April second, Apricol and
so forth. But when Lebron ops into his player option
as he did this summer, that means he's locked in
for at least a year to play for the Lakers. Right,
(09:37):
It didn't changed that much. Yeah, So when Rob Polinka
says if he had a chance to retire a Laker,
that would be great? Is Rob something know something I don't.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
I'm asking you. You got subtext in there. You're Sherlock Martin.
Speaker 5 (09:56):
Now you've been right several times on Anything Luca here
on the show, I refer to you.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
As far as I can tell, the next eighty two
games with Lebron James's career is starting up to play
for the Los Angeles Lakers, then it could be the last,
so he definitely has a chance to retire a Laker.
Speaker 5 (10:11):
I mean, are you reading in the social media, Lebron,
because the opening photo of his last post, he's stretching
out a Clippers facility. Now that's Clutch's facility. They just
have Clippers' logos. Do you read into that stuff though?
I mean, if you are a Lakers die hard, I
feel you're on your You're on pins and needles of
is Lebron and is Lebron not based off of him?
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Internationally?
Speaker 5 (10:34):
With Jokisch's agent chatting and posting him with a Clippers
logo in the back, I mean, is this not nothing?
Speaker 2 (10:42):
I would say this knowing that Lebron James that I know,
which is not personally at all. However, have had a
parasocial relationship for the entirety of the time that Lebron
James has been famous. I remember vividly watching Saint Vincent
Saint Mary's play o kill on ESPN.
Speaker 4 (11:01):
Oh yeah, me too, We're all baby, Yeah exactly.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
I've been here for a while.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
What phone sidekick era?
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Right, I remember the I remember watching Lebron on Rap
City to Basement with Big Tiggers.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
Right.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
There's there's people out there that have no idea what
that sentence means.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
But Martin, in all in all seriousness, though, I got
thrown to you because these are two alphas in the
animal Kingdom that have never ever been second fiddle to
another man on the court in their entire career.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
That's exactly what I was about to say.
Speaker 4 (11:34):
I need you.
Speaker 5 (11:35):
I need your answer because Reddick needs to establish to
meet the parents circle of trust now and they have
to be one in one a or blow it up
right now or it's too little too late.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
We're gonna be watching the each handle all season.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
I don't understand I should I should say this. I
think that for the first time in Lebron james just career,
he is not only not the best player on his team,
oh he said it, but he's also not the most
(12:12):
popular person player on his head.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
Oh my, we need a we need a woshbomb type drop,
I think, because because here's the thing, a lot of
people talk about you know, people will talk about how
uh you know a European player sometimes have troubles cutting
through you know.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
The big part of that for me is because they
don't talk trash. Luca don just talked trash.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
Oh and you saw him in New York, right, you
saw him.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
You saw the way that the Dallas Maverick fan base
reacted when Luca was gone. It was I get it,
fans over react. But the idea that day, one game one,
Cooper Flag will touch the ball and it will be
quiet in there and there will be somebody out there,
(12:58):
like fire naked, somebody will do it.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Do you know what I'm saying? Like the people will
be saying fire and Nico.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
The only way that they will not say fire Nico
is if Jerry Jones trades Michael Parks. Ooh, that is it.
That's the only way that seriously, that'll be the only
thing that could stop it.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
All time, Jersey felt about it.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Laker fans are enamored with Luka Doncics.
Speaker 4 (13:19):
They are so like But here's the thing. I am
a Laker fan my whole life. I want to see
them work.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
I'm kind of consulting in you here because I'm the
emotional one.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
I want to see them play ball together a full
eighty two.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
I don't think Lebron has any interest, and based off
the Luca nonverbals in the presser, I don't know if
he has any interest.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
So my thought is with Lebron, he's so.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Calculated. Everything is such a moment like he correct like
I don't. But the thing about being that calculated is
you also are trying to calculate the response, right, You're
trying to engineer the response, and you you know, you
put this input in there because you're trying to get
a certain output. I don't think it's hitting quite the
(14:07):
same with Lebron. You know, is clippers post? I think
that's I don't know if the like ten years ago,
if he had posted something like that with a Lakers
logo behind him and he use in Cleveland, it would
have been the front page of the New York Times.
Do you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 3 (14:26):
This would have been massive, big story.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Masters, Oh, Lebron's That's what I'm saying. Do you want
to go to the next Like? I think that right now? Okay,
so let me ask Hoth that nobody cares. But it's
just like everybody's just like whatever.
Speaker 5 (14:39):
Dude, Let's say you're sitting here with Lebron right now,
what do you want him to do? How do you
talk to him after today's Lucas Higne if.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
I'm Lebron, if I was advising Lebron, of which he
probably has no use for my advice, Oh.
Speaker 5 (14:52):
You could call yourself, you know, rich or math. In
this hypothetical, I would say this.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
I say, look, man, one of the baddest dudes in
the NBA just got traded to your team. He dragged
a Mavericks team to the finals with PJ Washington on
the wing. You're better right now than PJ Washington probably
will ever be in his life.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
I'll take that.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
You want another long playoff run, this is the way
to do it.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
See. I love that, Martin.
Speaker 5 (15:21):
But let's go back to the I need your inspector
hat on because what's up with a month and some
change ago? Him talking with Steve Nash moving the goalpost
on ring culture? Was that to set up him moving
out of this spot and ducking anything Lakers?
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Luca?
Speaker 2 (15:40):
I mean, I think honestly that was probably more to
try to duck out of the spot and get into
the idea of I'm not gonna catch Michael Jordan, but
I'm still really, really good.
Speaker 5 (15:51):
You don't think he could on this Lakers team get
two more championships.
Speaker 4 (15:55):
Oh I'm that serious.
Speaker 5 (15:57):
I think could they if they if they could be
one in one A. I don't know how this team
could not run the table. Of course they need a
piece or two. Maybe he takes a pay cut next year.
I don't know how they can't run the table. I mean,
we just saw the eighty to one preseason flop Pacers
come out.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Of the East. Man, I'm not scared of the thunder. Still,
Mark come out of the East.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Second of all, all right, you're not scared of the thunder.
That's a thunder. Who are taking what Isaiah Hartenstein coming
off the bench, or you know, saying Isaiah Hartenstein is
their their free agent signing last year? And who's the
other free agent signing, Alex Caruso? Right, Caruso, the big
free agent signing that they made.
Speaker 5 (16:41):
They barely got tested. Aaron Gordon's hamstring holds up.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
It's a different finals there was.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
I don't even know the amount of money that was
spent for two Lakers rotation players to not play for
the teams that they were on in the start of
the off season. I don't know. I'm sure I could
figure out the number, but the number is messed. There
are hundreds of millions of dollars being spent to not
peny for Marcus Martin DeAndre and to not play on
(17:12):
their team. I'm trying for the Lake.
Speaker 5 (17:14):
I'm trying to have you help me, help the town.
Right now, speak to Lebron to buy into any forty
forty one year old with a guy in his late
twenties would just pass the torch happily. It should even
be a discussion. You're not the second best, You're one A.
(17:35):
However you want to dice it up, I just ask you, Ken, Lebron,
get there.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
Ego wise.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
The problem is there's no such thing. We all know it.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
It's all true. Just like in Hollywood, even in those
ensemble casts. There's no such thing as in one A
that's shorts movie.
Speaker 5 (17:53):
Dwayne Wayde in his prime, he did it for Lebron.
Why can't he do it for Luca? Is that not worth?
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Is that fair? Pen? She'll throw out there? CAYL.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Naughton Junior asked Ricky Bobby the same thing coming up next,
speaking of getting it right for the town. Are we
sure that this NFL team has turned the corner because
they look at real, real familiar. We thought things had changed,
but it's looked real, real familiar. We get to that
(18:26):
coming up next.
Speaker 6 (18:29):
Hey, we're Cavino and Rich Fox Sports Radio every day
five to seven pm Eastern.
Speaker 4 (18:34):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 6 (18:35):

want to get.
Speaker 7 (18:38):
To, and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for.
Speaker 4 (18:51):
Yeah, you blubber list lame me.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
Well, you know what it's called over promise.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
You should be good at it because you've been over
promising women for years.
Speaker 7 (18:57):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be part of it. We're gonna be
talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk life
and relationships. And if Rich and I are arguing about
something or we didn't have enough time, it will continue
on our after show called Overpromised.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
Well, if you don't get enough.
Speaker 6 (19:11):
Covino and Rich make sure you check out over Promised
and also Uncensored by the way, so maybe we'll go
at it even a little harder. It's gonna be the
best after show podcast of all time.

throughout the show. Show like scratch Addict said, I was
watching Rap City with Joe Claire. I love Big Tigger
(20:06):
in the basement too. I'm saying Lebron goes back to
flip phones hip phone Ron like, Hey.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
What else was like?
Speaker 2 (20:16):
I can't even think of what else? Surge like what else?
Speaker 5 (20:20):
Like early two thousands, was Lebron playing basketball when TRL
was doing music video?
Speaker 2 (20:25):
Not only was TRR doing music videos when the like
TRL was at the height of his popularity. And yo,
if you are thirty two to forty, go google Pablo
Tory finds out TRL. Mind blowing.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
Bro oh, I'm done done. Drive home.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
It's like this whole deep dive on how TRL was. Basically,
I just put it like this. It may not have
been the most democratic voting process, and it just if
you were up the age who.
Speaker 4 (21:00):
Were familiar with the show, it'll be like, holy moly.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
You think trl's top ten rival Sports Centers top ten
from back in the day? What was more important the
Afternoon Carson Daily Top ten or Dan Patrick and Rich
Eisen break it down a top ten on sports set.
Speaker 4 (21:17):
This is a tough question because here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Fun one though, it depended on what the number one
song on TRL was gonna be, And you could kind
of tell what the number one song was gonna be
by what four, three and two were. I was fun
guessing that right of that, so you knew if your
song came on by three, I didn't have to watch
no more. But Top ten plays is one of the
(21:45):
few things that could get me to stay.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
Through multiple commercial breaks.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
If you said I will come back with the top
ten plays, I'd be like.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
Holy moly, I got it. I can't go anywhere.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
I'm about you on that.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
And then, honestly, I remember when they kind of lost me.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
I started doing a lot of soccer highlights. I was like, bro,
I would have never watched this game.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
You know, what is real?
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Madrid? What are we doing? What are we doing? Anyway,
speaking of what are we doing.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Washington commanders, are they aware that Terry McLaurin has been
on the team? Like, what's up with this? Whole scenario
does not make any sense to me? And it gives
me a feeling of something that is just you know,
I thought we might have been past this. I thought
(22:34):
we might have been passed this. But first, let's kick
it over to Steve the Seger for everything that's trending
in the world of sports.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
Steve, you're up. It's a great idea for Major League Baseball.
Speaker 9 (22:45):
What we think is going to be going on tonight
at Bristol Motor Speed.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
I wanted to talk about it, but I was like,
I know this is gonna be Steve's gonna be all
over this. I was like, I'll let Steve lay out
because you're gonna be better at it than I am.
Speaker 9 (22:58):
Eighty thousand it's sold. They're putting a Major League ballgame
on the infield of Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. Unfortunately,
they've been in a rain delay for almost an hour
and a half. They say that there's gonna be a
break in the rain here over the next half hour
enough that they can tape the tarp off the field.
That doesn't mean necessarily that they're starting the game in
(23:21):
the next half hour, that's for certain. In fact, the
Braves GM said in a Fox interview, it's been such
a delay, it's possible that our scheduled starter, Spencer Strider,
is not going tonight and we just have all relievers.
But this is a one off. They've given these two
teams already tomorrow off. Okay, they played a day game
in Cincinnati yesterday and then both of them flew down
(23:42):
to Tennessee just for this one game tonight to finish
out their weekend. The fans are hanging in I'll give
them that credit. But on Fox TV, it's the longest
pregame show you will ever see. The game is not
yet underway Atlanta at Cincinnati. And you know what Major
League Baseball did with the scheduled tonight, appropriate Lee. They
scheduled no other major league games to take place in
(24:04):
this window. Everything else was done by seven pm Eastern time,
and the late games won't be starting until after ten
pm Eastern time. So there's nothing going on in Major League.
Speaker 4 (24:16):
Basically right now. That's hilarious. Wow.
Speaker 9 (24:18):
Among the three late games, by the way, we have Arizona,
which is lost six in a row, playing at the A's.
The Padres, who won six in a row, hosts Saint Louis,
and the White Sox are at the Angels later tonight.
Tampa Bay beat the Dodgers for nothing.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
Today.
Speaker 9 (24:31):
The Brewers are not only first in the NL Central,
they're now two games up on the Cubs. Milwaukee won
eight two at Washington, while the Cubs were beaten at
home for to three by the Baltimore Orioles. Toronto is
first in the AL East. Max Schurz got the win
four to two over Kansas City Boston. It is four
games back of the Blue Jays. The Yankees are now
in third place in the Division four and a half
(24:52):
behind the Yanks got shut out two nothing at Miami.
Four straight wins for the Marlins. Boston won its fourth
straight seven to three over Houston. Houston a first place
team in the AL West, three and a half games
over the Mariners Texas four and a half back in
eleven innings. It was Texas winning six to four at Seattle.
We can update that Cleveland when it's fourth in a row,
(25:13):
five to four over Minnesota. Colorado after the wild win
last night, got a win against Pittsburgh today eight to five.
And in the NL East, well, the Met's got a
victory and they're back into first place. Half game over
the Phillies Mets twelve six, beating San Francisco. Philadelphia beaten
at home by Detroit and Trek Scooble seven to five.
The Lakers gave Luka Doncic a three year extension. The
(25:34):
Broncos signed defensive lineman Zach Allen to a four year extension.
The new Hall of Fame class in pro football was
enshrined today one WNBA game Minnesota twenty four and five
when its game at Las Vegas won eleven to fifty eight.
But it's Superstar and the FISA Collier still in the
game in the second half in a blowout, left with
(25:55):
an ankle injury.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
And what a.
Speaker 9 (25:57):
Women's soccer game on FS one tonight the final Copa
America South America's championship game. It was four to four
after overtime. Brazil wins on penalty kicks over Columbia.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin Weiss and Alex Monico.

(26:28):
bet MGM every Saturday and Sunday morning right here on
Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app. All right, So,
have you ever been to one of these specialty baseball
games that Major League Baseball started to do over the
last few years.
Speaker 4 (26:41):
I haven't. I'm a fan, though I am too.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
For the record, I am too. You know, they've played games.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
Fill the dreams. That was fun, right, fail the dreams.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
They've played games. Where else have they played? They've I
think they've played. They played in London last year. I
was at the game, which, ironically enough, I think they're
showing a replay of on right now on the MLB network.
I was at the festivities last year at rick Wood
(27:10):
Field in Birmingham, Alabama.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
That's awesome. Now.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
I don't know if you've ever been to Birmingham, Alabama.
I went twice last year, which for somebody who lives
in Los Angeles, is you know, fascinating in my opinion,
Not exactly, it's not.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
There's no direct flights, I'll put it like that, but
there's not.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Birmingham is your town that when you're going there, especially
in this capacity, you're going there for work, right, But
there were a ton of people that game was sold
out who were there just to go and watch the
festivities and watch the Cardinals play the Giants. So imagine
(27:54):
it's got to be similar to Bristol, Tennessee, which I've
never been to. But I can't imagine there's much more
going on besides the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee.
Speaker 5 (28:04):
If you had to make a split, how many NASCAR
fans or just you know, car racing fans are there
versus actual baseball fans.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
You think it's a decent split or still mostly base I.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Think that Van diagram is probably a circle like at
this place, right, You know what I'm saying, because it's like,
you know, that's that's the novelty of going to see it, right,
is that it's got the speedway. So he probably got
some people's.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
Live in town. But I just am imagining.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
So I'll tell this quick story, then we'll talk about
Teray mcluy uh. I was in a hotel bar in
Birmingham and a Giants fan comes up, and he is
a very very San Francisco type of guy, right like,
very West Coast and if you had I didn't ask him,
but it's for sure his first.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
Time in Alabama, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
So he goes up to the bartender, and the bartender
he asks the bartender for a palomo. I never heard
of a polom until I moved to California. Now I'm
well familiar with it. But he asked the bartender for
a poloma, which is, you know, a cocktail bay with
grapefruit juice. Bartender looks at him like I can't make
a paloma, Like, well, who asked for a poloma? Like
(29:16):
like get a beer? You lose her, you know, you
know what I mean. And then she goes, okay, Well,
then the guy goes, you know, she says, I don't
have the stuff to make a poloma. The guy goes, okay, well,
can can I just get a titos and grapefruit juice?
And the bartender looked at him and was like, you stupid,
Like what is wrong with you?
Speaker 4 (29:34):
Don't you know what I'm talking?
Speaker 2 (29:36):
And so eventually my boy and my boy ended up
getting like a tequila and ginger ale, and that just,
you know, it just makes me think like there's not
much going on there.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
They didn't have a Machia green tea shot.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Right right exactly exactly. So I just imagine that people
that have descended upon Bristol today, who are now just
caught in a rain storm and like that.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
This was the pole plan was to go to a
baseball game.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
There's no baseball game, and it may not be a
baseball game now what they're probably out there trying to
order polobas.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
I hope they have panchos.
Speaker 5 (30:10):
I don't think anyone was prepared to bring it Umbrella
in August.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
The poncho guy is making a killing right.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
One of my one of my roommates, is currently there
on the scene. He is unhappy. Is he drinking a poloma?
I cannot confirm that, but I can tell him to
get one.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Like, what's what's the state of what's the state on
the ground? Come on, use that big Jay journalism degree.
What are people there saying? He's a paying customer.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
You got to source them happy, I said him A
Texas said looks like a tough scene, and he emphasized it.
Oh no, response emphasized, I'm not trying to rub it in, man,
just one a quote. Tell him at least he made
national radio on a Saturday night. So Ian brought this
up to me earlier today in our prep but.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
I thought it may be a yes or no question.
But it's it's one that I find interesting. In docs,
we look at the situation in Dallas. Year after year,
there's another contract holdout, Michael Parsons holding out. Now we'll
talk more in depth about that the top of next hour.
(31:17):
But Michael holding out, war of words in the media,
Trey Henderson and Cincinnati, same deal. We look at those organizations,
and I think a common conception about them.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
Is we think they're cheap.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
I think they mismanaged contract situations. If Jaden Daniels hadn't
started seventeen or whatever fifteen games for the Commanders last year,
would we be saying the same exact thing about the
Washington situation.
Speaker 5 (31:51):
It's a great question, but I'm gonna go back to
what I said last week, where Terry's output was half
of Jaden's output as far as touchdowns throwned. So I
don't know how you would say it. The thing with
Scary Terry is how many He's not the receiver Larry
Fitzgerald is by any means, but his career comes to
(32:12):
mind because of how many guys he can put up
numbers with at quarterback, and that's what McLaren's been. Now
they finally have their franchise guy and little due diligence
here Martin, who was second in receptions after Scary Terry
last year.
Speaker 4 (32:29):
It was halfway to Sizzler Zach Erge.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
I think zach Ertz that was the kiss.
Speaker 5 (32:36):
We were in bad shape because if Deebo Samuel rolls
out like Luca.
Speaker 4 (32:41):
In the beginning of the Lakers tenure. We got problems
in Washington, martin.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
Early LA early Laker Luca, not summer Luca.
Speaker 5 (32:52):
Hey, I got a Laker household that when I go
to the pantry well after ten pm Pacific, that's what
I think of. I'm going to my Luca frame as
I enter this pantry.
Speaker 4 (33:03):
But I was.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
It's interesting because look, the Commanders, all the way back
to their old name, have historically been terribly run from
from top to bottom, start to finish. They get the
new Adam Peters comes in, new GM, new ownership group.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
Everything's different.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
Oh, Washington Commanders, we got a new attitude.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
One of the pillars of your offense, one of the
pillars of your franchise is like holding in in a
very like way that is very positive towards the media.
He's being like Terry McLaurin, feels like the adult in
the room.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
Here and I love that. Now, how would you answer
the question.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
It's one that we'll see because I getting Bobby.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
They got Bobby Wagner, they re up him, they signed
von Miller, they get trying to remember the Deebo Samuel.
That's kind of you're loading up, sure, but I'm not
feeling good about necessarily the cast of The Expendables four
next to Jaydon Daniels.
Speaker 4 (34:11):
I feel what we were saying Martin before the show
is like it feels like they've had one good year. Yeah,
and they deserve plenty of flowers for it. But the
way that we're talking about them is like they're just
a shoe into to be one of the better teams
in the league now. And everything they've done this offseason
is like, Okay, they signed an aging Deebo Samuel, they
signed an aging Von Miller. They have yet to pay
their number one receiver on a time when they're they
(34:34):
have a rookie quarterback. This is the time that you
can pay his supporting cast, and you're not doing it.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
It's a great point, and you get those avans on
a one year deebo I thinks his contracts expiring, so
they're not high Vale, like they're not super Now, you're
tying yourself up for a long time. But I think
Terry at thirty one years old, you give them a
three year deal and even if you have to eat
that last year, like by that point in time, get
(35:01):
to a rookie wide receiver and figure it out on
that and just for the mere fact of the matter,
it's not gonna. It only gets harder when your quarterbacks
off his rookie deal just asks the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 5 (35:13):
How do you not strike while the iron's hot? If
you're Terry's camp, like you said, his age second in
the league in touchdowns, it stands for not for long
the NFL. You have to go get your paper right now. Honestly,
you saw how many of his peers asked to come
on down to my team Martin when he said he
wants at trade, there were tweets all over the bird.
(35:37):
So in my opinion, this has a two prong effect.
This hurts your offense and it hurts your locker.
Speaker 4 (35:43):
The price only goes up, and the price only goes
up you have to pay this man.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
At the top of the hour, we'll talk about another
man that is likely going to rearrange his bank account.
It'll just wonder where the check's coming from. Will it
be coming from Dallas, will it be coming from somewhere else?
Michael Parsons, Jerry Jones. The standoff we all saw coming
for years and years away. But next we'll do a
(36:07):
game of who you got.
Speaker 1 (36:12):
Don't listening to Fox Sports radio radio.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
Martin Weiss, Alex Monico coming to you live from the
Fox Sports Radio Studios. You know, there's a lot of
different options in which way he could have gone with.
Is the Hall of Fame ceremony induction?
Speaker 4 (36:27):
Today?
Speaker 2 (36:28):
You got the make Baseball trade deadline? All types of
candidates for who you got? Let's see who being picked?
Speaker 4 (36:37):
Okay, who you got? I'm ready. It's actually been a while,
I feel like, at least since I did it, because
I know Breed did it for you guys last week.
But you guys got it pretty quick.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
Apparently you tried really hard.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
But my first one ever was the Marlboro Man. So
I cannot. I say, tough act for Martin to fallow,
but I can't. I can't follow it. I was fun
of one.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
I feel like I should have warned her that Martin's
annoyingly good at it. So anyway, hopefully we can get
you guys this time. So I'm thinking of someone from
the world of sports, could be a player, a coach
at GM, whatever, it's someone having to do with sports,
and I'm going to give you guys clues to try
and help you narrow down who it is. Each clue
should hopefully make it easier, and by the final clue
you should hopefully know who it is. You guys, ready,
(37:16):
let's dance, all right. First clue, this guy was a
Day three draft.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
Pick in the NFL draft.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
I was about to say day three pick means he
is a football player, a three pick the Richard Sherman
and also to hold on a second day three pick,
does that mean? I think that that might mean that
he's drafted in like the last maybe like whenever they
(37:42):
broke the drafts out right, rounds four to seven, rounds
four to seven was Day three, because draft he used
to be two days, right, right, So I think the
first three rounds and the second day would be rounds
four through seven. So I think this is a recent,
relatively recent draft pick.
Speaker 4 (37:54):
I see you read of Charlie Day from here.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
He's on the board, so I forget what year that
broke out, but I'm going relatively recent. That's my lean,
Like you're thinking.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
All right, Next clue, he's a one time Pro bowler
after he had a one thousand yard season.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
One ex Pro bowler, so you know he plays offense.
One thousand yard season. It could be a tight end,
could be a wide receiver, all right, late, late.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
And he guesses to throwout while we're at it.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
Day three pick, one time Pro Bowl Jimmy Grahant made
more than one Pro Bowl.
Speaker 4 (38:29):
Why Jimmy one thousand yard season?
Speaker 2 (38:35):
It's gonna be hard to nail the guy off of
one Pro Bowl.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
All right. Next, this guy walked on to his college
football team, walked on Fox, walked on his CFB team.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
So that gives me running back or wide receiver. I
don't know why. Day three pick, one time Pro Bowl
Julian Edelman.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
No good guess. I was low key gonna go with
Chris Hogan.
Speaker 5 (39:03):
I don't hate not a bad guess either, But he
didn't make a Pro Bowl, not it.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
Yeah, that kind of a guy. So I told you
he walked on to his college team. He actually won
a national championship in college after walking on. Oh, forgiddness sake.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
A Pro bowler after one thousand yard season. Okay, now
I'm leaning on you, baby.
Speaker 4 (39:25):
Nasal championship.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
Walk on because you know what Day three pick that
throws me off. I was about to say, Baker Mayfield,
you tricky son of a gun, but he's next. Clue,
go for it.
Speaker 4 (39:36):
He grew up in South Carolina.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
South Carolina day three pick one time pro bowler Deebo
Samuel did not walk on, nor was he a Day
three pick.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
Not debo in the Hall of Fame. I'm trying because
the sterling I know.
Speaker 5 (39:52):
I don't next clue a clue, all right?
Speaker 4 (39:57):
He actually caught the game winning touchdown in the National
Championship game that he won. See it on your face?
Is it? Hunter renfro.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
Nice job, finally one let's I I made it.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
Let's go walked on Clemson? Was a walk on. He
was a walk on it Clemson and in that game
winning touchdown. I didn't even remember this. There was one
second left.
Speaker 5 (40:22):
Oh yeah, on the pylon. I snuck it in Hunter
Renfroll one time. Where's he in camp right now? He's
with Carolina Carolina. That was later clue. Apparently no one
can guard him in camp right now. That's what they're saying.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
That's actually why I saw that in the news and thought,
I'm gonna make him the who you got. But the
last few clues that we had were he's making a
return this year after a year off from the NFL.
He shares a name with an MLB player the last clue.
Was he set to catch passes from Bryce Young this year?
Speaker 2 (40:56):
Yeah, I would have got it. I would have got it.
If you said, seriously, name with an MLB player, I
would have got that for sure. That should have been
the last clue, Hunter, Renfro. How about that that twenty
sixteen Clemson team. I think twenty sixteen characters.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (41:14):
That's right, and we're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
Alex. I'll tell you what, you know, each.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Summer we have our big summer blockbuster movies. Yeah, you know,
each summer. What was what was this summer's big flick
Mission Impossible was huge f one with Brad Pitt, Huge,
you know.
Speaker 4 (41:38):
Superman, Superman, Fantastic four.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
Fantastic four, another big one. Quite a summer, ye know, big,
big summer for the movies. You know, not quite Barbenheimer level.
But the good news is we're seeing the same level
of drama and entertainment that we are used to seeing.
It's a couple of miles outside of Hollywood, but it's
in Oxnard, California.
Speaker 3 (42:03):
Jerry Jones, verst star player.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
Let's call round three, Ding Ding ding, Michael Parsons had,
I mean went full notes APP and listen, it rarely
goes well when you go full notes APP. Well, Michaeh
went full notes AP and I'll summarize for those follow
me long at home, So real quick.
Speaker 5 (42:27):
If that was old school newspaper, how many sections is
he taken out?
Speaker 4 (42:31):
Because those were two full page of notes, Martin.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
I will say this, there is something to be said
about Uh you say old school newspaper.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
Like where things are measured in inches and not.
Speaker 4 (42:43):
Necessarily words continue on a three.
Speaker 2 (42:46):
Yeah, exactly. It definitely would have been. First of all,
it would not have been published in full. There would
have been it would have been summarized for sure. And
I also saw a lot of people and I say this,
I do not say this with any and I mean
this sincerely with no judgment whatsoever of Michael Parsons. I don't.
(43:08):
I think he's a smart guy. I'm not saying he's
dumb or anything like that. I know he's well spoken,
I know he's intelligent. I hear him talk all the
time about all types of things like I do. Turn
the podcast on. But people were asking do you think
Michael wrote that himself? And I said, I know Michael
wrote that note himself because it had a lot of
(43:28):
there was just some slight like grammatical errors in here
and there that like if you're paying somebody like the
way that Michael pays his agency's on, those type of mistakes.
Speaker 4 (43:36):
Cannot be done, you know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (43:40):
Right, all right, yeah, exactly it could have used.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
It was obviously to me something that was typed out
using thumbs, not computer like you know what I mean,
straight notes app. And generally that's why it's a bad
idea to go straight notes app, because you're going from
like your heart right, you know, generally somebody's gonna say, hey,
(44:02):
you know, it's the old version of when I was
a younger, and I'm not that old, but like my
mom and dad would say, you write it out in
the letter. You seal the envelope and you put it
on the desk, and then you take a nap, you
go on mark right, and then you wake up and
determine if you want to write the letter. What social
(44:23):
media has done now it has taken the whole taking
that part out.
Speaker 4 (44:27):
When Twitter has done has.
Speaker 2 (44:28):
Been like in fact, I'm not gonna put it on paper,
I'm gonna put it on the internet right now, and
so I thought that it was honestly And so not
only did I not think that Michael wrote it himself,
because I knew that Michael wrote it himself in my opinion,
because of kind of the raw emotions, some of the
grammatical mistakes and so on. It also spoke to yo,
(44:50):
I'm fed up, I'm done dealing with this. I'm sticking
away all talking about me. I'm sticking away to y'all
moving around me. And I I'm not afraid Michael Parsons
to go out here and let people know. Yeah, I'm
here at camp. You're not gonna find me, but I'm
letting you know. And this is the thing that I
(45:11):
think is fascinating. We have seen this three years in
a row. See Dak year one, ce D year two,
Micah year three, Dak coming off injury. It was weird.
It has been hurt a few times. Right, Jerry makes
him the highest paid quarterback in football. You can understand
that and say, hey, man, you gotta pay the quarterback.
(45:32):
You gotta pay the quarterback. You can't win without a quarterback.
CD Lamb is I think a consensus top six receiver, right?
So yeah, is he justin Jefferson. No, he's not justin Jefferson.
Marches Nowin' not to March's, but get better. You gonna
be hard pressed to find better than Cede Lamb. All Right,
(45:53):
Micah Parsons in the under twenty eighth division is the
best pass rusher in the NFL. Right, I'm with you.
There's a couple guys knocking on the door. Nick Benito,
I'll give him in Denver. I like his game a lot, Mike.
Maybe this year after year of the consistency. Now, if
he's disappeared in some big games, I get that, But
(46:13):
you know what, he's.
Speaker 4 (46:14):
Also playing in big games. Well, remember what we did
last week. Only five men him being won.
Speaker 5 (46:20):
Start their first four seasons with twelve sacks in the
previous four Hall of Famers.
Speaker 2 (46:24):
And so I think the thing exactly, he's on the
Hall of Fame track. There's two things that play here,
a few things that play. Don't hold meat to two.
Speaker 4 (46:32):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (46:33):
The first. This is the guy you have to lock up.
This is the guy that's unquestionable. This is the guy
that is not just the best at the position on
your team, but one of the best at the position
in the league. This is the type of guy. If
you trade for you trade him away, you are praying
to get another one of these guys. Tell them right.
(46:56):
The second thing Jerry normally is in the media with
this stuff, Well, guess what, Dak wouldn't do it. He's
a quarterback. It's not necessarily the same way. CD is
all just a shy away from the spotlight. But it's
not necessarily you know, top of mind when you think
of like outspoken receivers.
Speaker 4 (47:15):
Yeah, MICHAEH.
Speaker 2 (47:17):
Parsons is the only person in Dallas with more press
availability than Jerry Jones. Michael Parsons has this two day
a week podcast.
Speaker 4 (47:24):
I watched the.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
NFL Draft and I'm watching Michael Parson's breakdown second round picks.
Michael Parsons is part of the media. Michael Parsons is
just like he's part of the media. Michael Parsons can
control his own narrative in a way that the last
two guys cannot. I just find it to be fascinating
and it allowed myself to wonder and don't have to
(47:46):
address this part necessarily. But let's say Michael plays this
this season out on the last year of his rookie
deal and then like it's like I'm holding out for
the long term deal. After the franchise tag, there would
be teams calling. Oh, there will be teams calling. And
then at that point, because franchise tag is you know
(48:06):
the averages, Jerry's gonna have to pay them the tag
at least for a year. And then could Michael Parson's
played the Kirk Cousins route of tag me again, tag
me again? Guess what now? I'm a hum restrict the
free agent and Mike could be thirty years old, but
he's out.
Speaker 4 (48:23):
Yeah. Now, any credence to Ceedee Lamb's tweet.
Speaker 5 (48:27):
And made sure I call a Cowboy fan or two
on my way up just to check the temp in
the room. Seems like there's no red button of press,
even with Ceedee lambs tweet, even with him taking off
Cowboys stuff on his social which allegedly I heard.
Speaker 4 (48:44):
Is there anything to worry about?
Speaker 2 (48:46):
Though?
Speaker 5 (48:46):
When one of his teammates says, just pay the man,
and then you got the owner JJS saying to our
fans paraphrasing, this is not that big of a deal.
Speaker 2 (48:57):
I think that there is. I say it like this,
It may not be today. On August second, It's hard
to call it right down the middle because if I
had to, if I am a betting man, and so
are you, if we had to bet on this, we
(49:20):
would assume, let me, don't tell me if I'm wrong. Yeah,
we would bet that Michael Parsons, at some point between
now and Week one will be the highest paid non
quarterback in NFL history.
Speaker 4 (49:32):
I would bet that.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
I would bet that set the odds in your head,
what would you say the odds of that would be.
Speaker 4 (49:41):
It's not quite a pick them in Vegas. I'd say
maybe MIAs one thirty yes, plus one.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
That's the thing that makes this a little bit different.
So I'm with you. It's not quite a pick them,
but it's closer to even odds. It's closer that it
could may or may not happen than it was with
Dak then and then it was with CD. And I
think that Micah has more value on the open market
that was never hitting the open market. Nope, that was
(50:08):
never hitting the open market. I think Micah has more
value to an NFL team than those other two would.
Speaker 4 (50:14):
And the thing that really gets me about the Micah
thing is if you read that and I get it.
Speaker 2 (50:23):
It was very long and it was very one of
those I'm happy for you or I'm sorry that happened
like type of you know, the mean, yeah, if you're
into it. The beats of it is. Micah went to
the Cowboys as soon as he was extension eligible. That's right,
said I'd like to make a deal. Yep, Cowboys uninterested.
(50:44):
You can't cut the line now. They had to do
DAK and they had to do CD. This has been
the off season they're doing DAK. Micah says, Dude, I'm
ready to sign up right now. I want to be
a Cowboy. Couldn't get it done next year? They go
and they sit and they have a conversation. Can't get
(51:07):
another one done?
Speaker 4 (51:08):
To me?
Speaker 2 (51:09):
If you're Mike and you know, man, he know what
career track he's on. He knows how his stats compare.
Him going to sign up at year three is saying
I am willing to give you a discount to be
able to stay here as long as I can.
Speaker 4 (51:25):
Yeah, that was correct me.
Speaker 5 (51:26):
If I'm wrong before Crosby like you were saying last week, So.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
It was before everybody by this off season. It was
before everybody last offseason. It's back to my questioning you
from last week. Does Jerry Jones like theater more or
does he like good business? Your last you have to
pay the most, and I think it's just a level
of and I do think there's something too.
Speaker 3 (51:48):
Steven Jones alluded to it.
Speaker 2 (51:51):
You gotta make the deal when the deal is there.
Micah alluded to it in his note my agent told
me to wait.
Speaker 4 (52:00):
He pulled up.
Speaker 2 (52:00):
You're right, he said, My agent told me to wait
because I can set the market. He said, I don't
care about resetting the market. And you know, we uh
crush guys for taking too much or so on. Like
Jalen Hurts, I rolled my eyes when his agent says, wait,
why'd you get me that much money? Where's the money
(52:20):
for the rest of my teammates? But like there is
a legitimate of yo, how many more million do I need?
Michael Parsons is sitting here saying, in this flawed environment,
I am willing to sacrifice some of my millions. Jalen
Hurt said, I'm willing to sacrifice some of my millions.
Speaker 4 (52:40):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (52:41):
I don't want to break the bank. Broc Party could
have took the forty nine ers for he could have
that could have been a lot more contentious.
Speaker 5 (52:49):
Now, can I throw this to you because you are
getting married here but back in the day, have you
ever been thrown a notes out message? And maybe extra
friend and anybody in that realm? Because when I'm rereading
this again and it's past tense, yes, I wanted to
be here, I guess I gotta go to you here
(53:11):
old school with it? How serious is a two page
note right up to walk back on or not?
Speaker 4 (53:18):
Once Jerry backs up the brinks trucks?
Speaker 2 (53:20):
So right now, I think what we have is like
a knife wound. It is not but it is not
life threatening.
Speaker 4 (53:29):
So they're not broken up, but they're taking a break.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
You're saying, yeah, I'll say that. That's that's maybe that's
what I'll stick with their relationship analogy. Their Facebook status
has changed from engaged to it's complicated.
Speaker 5 (53:44):
You're really showing your age here dropping a Facebook reference.
I was lost ye the radio, although.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
You can't listen to the podcast. That's right, all right,
but all right.
Speaker 2 (53:55):
So it's it's it's complicated right now, it's complicated. Now
it can go right to married with that deal that
says I am the highest paid non quarterback in NFL history. However,
Rick could go like, that's the thing. I feel like
Michael Parsons is in a position now. All of the
(54:15):
NFL contract stipulations that are holding him up are true.
Last year of the rookie deal. Of course, can get franchise,
can't get franchised again. He strikes me as the type
to do something on principle, and it would not shock
me to see Michael Parsons Just imagine the theater.
Speaker 4 (54:38):
You want to talk about them, imagine.
Speaker 2 (54:42):
The theater of hell. Please. A report will probably pay
Michael Parsons whatever difference he would make if you go
on their podcast with him every week and say, yeah,
I had three shacks today, three shacks this week against
the Giants. Jerry, the price went up again.
Speaker 5 (54:59):
Oh you think he wants to have a good old
fashioned cowboys standoff that goes down those eighteen weeks.
Speaker 2 (55:05):
Micah's microphone is just as big as Jerry's microphone.
Speaker 5 (55:09):
Oh baby, So how much do you read into Jerry's
line after the notes app of him telling the fans.
Speaker 4 (55:17):
Don't worry about it, don't lose sleep.
Speaker 2 (55:20):
I would say this if Jerry's ready to open up
the back door of that Brinks truck. Then he's got
the right attitude. But the moves that he has made
this off season and both disrespecting and I don't and
my words, not my words Micah's words, Yeah, and both
disrespecting the client, Michael Parsons, and also disrespecting the agent.
Speaker 4 (55:45):
Remember I don't even know his agent's name.
Speaker 2 (55:48):
I put it like this, brother, if you're an NFLGM,
you better know David Muga let his name, because he's
setting records every time one of his clients signs a contract.
Speaker 4 (55:56):
Talk to him. You better know your boy's name.
Speaker 5 (55:59):
So let's just this table out then, based off how
you're talking this out. Micah in his notes says, I
was willing to take I don't know if we'll call
it as far as a team friendly deal, but in
the era of half a dozen pass rushers, he was
willing to go first because that's how much he wanted
to be.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
He was willing we could say we can frame it
this way. He was willing to take a deal two
years before TJ. Watt reset the market, Miles Garrett reset
the market, and Max Tras before him reset the market.
He would have been probably off the top of my head,
maybe there would have been seven deals probably in two years,
or or at least six deals to reset the market
(56:35):
from the time he initially went to the Cowboy.
Speaker 5 (56:38):
So then back to your thinking, if he is a
man of principal, then I think we're talking about a
longer Cowboys standoff. Then Jerry is relaxing, relaxatasically saying in
one line on the mic, don't worry, loose, don't lose
sleep about it. We're good because how many times has
(56:58):
Jerry been in this scenario after you, after year. This
is back to our conversation last week. This is what
he lives for. He lives for. Mike's in his face,
dying for a SoundBite, and you're telling me we're running
into a different lion, which was the emoji he posted
after Thank you Dallas a lion. You don't come into
(57:21):
the lions den and poke the animal that's the top
animal in the kingdom. You're if you were betting on this,
you're saying Micah stays as a man of principal outside
of more money than TJ.
Speaker 2 (57:36):
I say, I put it like this, we look at
all of these holdouts across camp holds ins. Whatever I
think leadership. I think is important to Michael Parsons. I
think it matters to him to be a quote unquote
good teammate. I think that we have a if Michael
Parsons is not the highest paid non defensive non quarterback
(57:57):
in the NFL, I think he's got a better shot
of playing the deal on this deal right now, wow
that he does, of signing something that he doesn't feel
good about on the.
Speaker 4 (58:07):
Principal on principal, I kind of like your thinking here.
Speaker 2 (58:09):
I think he's got a better shote of playing out
his rookie deal and say, all right, you want to
tag me, that's I'm gonna make this as us uncomfortable
as possible. I'm calling your bluff. I think that's I
think that's the reality here.
Speaker 4 (58:22):
So let's Jerry. Jerry does have the Trump card.
Speaker 2 (58:25):
Jerry's got the asus spades, He's got the ability to
go and just hey, call up JP.
Speaker 3 (58:31):
Morgan Chase to say, I need to take a little
bit of money out.
Speaker 2 (58:34):
I gotta make Michael Parsons, I gotta, I gotta, we
gotta guarantee this money.
Speaker 5 (58:37):
This was compelling. You might have just moved the fictitious
Vegas line here from MIAs one thirty to Mius one forty.
I mean, there's some line move in here. I'm kind
of starting to think you might be onto something yet again.
Speaker 2 (58:50):
All right, well, it's just in case. Let's just slipping
around on the other side. What if, in fact, Michael
Parsons is on the open market.
Speaker 4 (58:58):
I have a few teams that should be.
Speaker 2 (59:01):
In on him. Let's see as alb Monico thinks about that.
We'll get to that in just a minute. Martin Weiss's
Alex Monico Fox Sports Radio, one of the most important
players at foot in football, at the most important position
in football, might be on the move. Be sure to

(59:43):
joined here with Alex Monico. I'm at Martin Weiss and
Alex is at alex Underscore Underscore Monico. That's two underscores
for the amount of first round picks. People think that
Michael Parsons will command on the open market. All right,
so we have a few different teams Alex that Michael
Parsons could go. I'm stealing this list from NFL dot
(01:00:08):
Com talks me. I'm gonna go in order that I
think are most interesting to least interesting. So that's my
So there we go, all right, least interesting. The Cleveland
Browns not interested. I know they have two first round picks,
so they could make it happen.
Speaker 5 (01:00:25):
I don't buy it any reference though to what the
one two punch Garrett and Micah could be.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
That's something, I mean, it absolutely would and if you
spent what the fifth overall pick on Mason Graham, so yeah,
it would be something for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:00:38):
But I don't find it terribly compelling because they are.
Speaker 4 (01:00:41):
Going to got four quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
Yeah, they'll win. They might win three games. Now, if
you get Michael Parsons, they might raise it the three
and a half and I take the under. All right,
So the Commanders slightly interesting, but you just signed Von Miller,
so it doesn't make a ton of sense. Plus you
have to pay Micah in the division, But I get
it to quinn connection. He loves Dan Quinn has talked
about him glowingly semi interested in Now, this is a
(01:01:06):
loose ranking. The Carolina Panthers uninterested cannot be bother. I've
been left and the interesting on that too. No, that's
not a team that I think is able to turn
the corner this season upcoming.
Speaker 3 (01:01:20):
I think that they'll be better than they have been
the past years.
Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
But I've also heard that Antarctica is warmer in past
years than it has been. I'm still packing a winter coat.
What about the Bears. Bears, I'm interested.
Speaker 4 (01:01:33):
A little bit.
Speaker 5 (01:01:33):
I'm very interested, very that's I mean, geez, we grew
up on what Lance Briggs or Lacker, Peanut Tillman.
Speaker 4 (01:01:40):
They are the epitome of defense, and.
Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
I mean you got your young star quarterback. They also
had made this type of move before. Now it was
a different group. But as soon as you hear Michael
Parsons wants to get traded, immediately you go to the
Khalil Mack trade from just a few years ago. That's
a team. I mean, that's a deal that the Bears made,
and I think that the Bears would say, hey, we.
Speaker 4 (01:02:04):
May have gave up a lot and we didn't necessarily win.
Speaker 2 (01:02:06):
A Super Bowl, but Khalil Mack good player for the
Bears at the time that he was there. Now the
team that traded him, the Raiders, also won this list. Uninterested,
I'm not interesting, although I would say interesting at least
to see him chasing around the AFC West quarterbacks. Yeah,
so if you want to do a little zig while zagging.
But there's two spots here that I find if I
(01:02:28):
was Michael Parsons where I'd be trying to go.
Speaker 3 (01:02:31):
The second one the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
They just added to Son Reddick this offseason, and I
know that they kind of liked their pass rush. That
NFC self, to me, is a super highway to the
playoffs for Tampa and chasing around those NFC quarterbacks, I'm
telling you, I'll really like this.
Speaker 3 (01:02:51):
I cut a lot of highlight tapes with pass rushers.
Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
A lot of the sacks come against NFC quarterbacks, a
lot of the sacks.
Speaker 5 (01:02:58):
Look you were all over the last week in a
great overall segment talk in Tampa Boy, with that ad
to that half championship defense still left from the Brady Club.
Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
The number one team that should be in on Michael Parsons.
I'll tell you after Steve said, oh tea, everything trending
in the world of sports.
Speaker 9 (01:03:22):
Steve, that is a professional teas he is a professional.
Do not try that at home Atlanta against Cincinnati guys
is actually going to start in the next ten to
fifteen minutes. Baseball at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. Due
to the two and a half hour rain delay, the
Braves will not be starting. They're scheduled first pitcher of
the night, Spencer Streider. They'll go with a bunch of
(01:03:44):
relievers one after the other. But we do have baseball
scheduled to go. The tarp is off the field, Fox
TV with the coverage and in the forecast it's only
light rain at the most for the next hour or two.
They are due to start shortly. There are three late
games that begin and a half an hour that San Diego,
winners of sixth straight hosting Saint Louis, also White Sox
(01:04:06):
at the Angels, and Arizona, which has lost six in
a row, plays at the A's in about a half
an hour. The Dodgers were shut out at Tampa Bay
today four nothing. Baltimore beat the Cubs four to three
in Chicago. The Cub's now two games back of first
place Milwaukee in the NL Central. The Brewers won eight
to two at Washington. Brandon Woodriff another win coming back
from injury. He's three and ozer. Toronto is first place
(01:04:29):
in the AL East. Max Schurzer got the win today
four to two over Kansas City. The Blue Jays are
four games up on the new second place team Boston,
which won at home seven to three over Houston. The
Yankees filled a third in the division, four and a
half behind. The Yanks were shut out two nothing at Miami.
In case you didn't hear the Yankees, Aaron Judge, with
the bad elbow, could be off the injured list as
(01:04:49):
soon as Tuesday. Trek Schooble, Detroit Allstar, now eleven and
three after getting the win at Philadelphia seven to five.
New reliever for the Tigers, Kyle Finnegan got credit for
the save, lost to Zach Wheeler, who was nine to
four this year. The Phillies are now back into second
place in the EDL East, half game behind the Mets.
New York won at home twelve to six against the
slumping Giant San Francisco has lost thirteen of sixteen wins
(01:05:13):
for Cleveland and Colorado. Texas won and eleven innings at Seattle.
The Lakers gave Luka Donsich a three year MAX extension.
The Broncos signed defensive lineman Zach Allen to a four
year extension worth nearly seventy million dollars guaranteed. Bucks quarterback
Baker Mayfield missed practice again today with a bruised hand,
but should return next week. Brown's rookie quarterback Shudure Sanders
(01:05:35):
sat out team drills with a sore arm, and Cleveland
quarterback Kenny Pickett is still limited in practice after a
hamstring injury. Carolina, by the Way, had said quarterback Bryce
Young and the starters will be playing the first two
preseason games. Cleveland has joint practices with the Panthers on Wednesday.
Giants rookie running back Camp Scatabow will miss some time
with a hamstring injury. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said today
(01:05:58):
the trade request from defensive lineman Micah Parsons is quote
just part of the contract negotiation. He told Dallas fans
not to lose any sleep over this Chargers linebacker Denzel
Perriman was arrested in LA on weapons charges. He's doing
court On Tuesday. One WNBA game Minnesota Blitz Las Vegas
won eleven to fifty eight. Still in the blowout game
(01:06:20):
late third quarter, superstar for Minnesota and a Fisa Collier
was injured left with an ankle injury. The Connecticut Sun
will reportedly be sold for three hundred and twenty five
million dollars and moved to Boston in two years. And
in women's soccer on FS one tonight, Brazil won the
Copa America Final, a thriller on penalty kicks against Columbia.
(01:06:41):
This game was tied four to four after overtime.
Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin and Alex coming to
you live from the Fox Sports Radio studios, in which
come to find out, we have some very selfish producers
on the glass. But do you know what, I'm trying
to turn it new leaf? Turn over a new leaf.
I should say, I'm not gonna trying not to call
(01:07:04):
people out, but sometimes you just have to.
Speaker 4 (01:07:07):
Sometimes you just have to.
Speaker 10 (01:07:08):
The producers want to defend themselves and say you have
a wedding.
Speaker 4 (01:07:11):
By the way, what's that got to do with anything.
Speaker 10 (01:07:13):
It means you can't eat like a big back.
Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
You know what.
Speaker 4 (01:07:15):
Listen, then once you lean out looking like a gentleman.
Speaker 3 (01:07:19):
We're a week out. There's nothing changing.
Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
Oh I don't know, man.
Speaker 5 (01:07:23):
I go to the Luca Pantry one night at thirty
five and it's over for me.
Speaker 4 (01:07:27):
I wake up.
Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
There's nothing changing. There's nothing to It doesn't matter what
I do at this point, nothing changing at all. The
number one team that should be in all Michael Parsons
can I guess sure, Billy. I would not say Philadelphia,
although it's the most definite Howie Roseman type of move,
(01:07:51):
but you have to pay him so much. I wouldn't
do it. It's fair, and they have had such a
defensive success drafting that I wouldn't do it. But if
I'm the Buffalo Bills, Oh, I am trying to move
heaven and Earth to get Michael Parsons up to Orchard Park.
Speaker 4 (01:08:12):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
We tried it with Von Miller, and let's be honest,
Joey Bosa's last really good.
Speaker 4 (01:08:22):
Year was a really long time ago.
Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
I'm not saying he can't go out there and get
six sacks. I'm just saying he might only go out
there and play eight games, it.
Speaker 5 (01:08:32):
Would be electric. It's a different conference. They won't see
him all but once every four. I love it.
Speaker 3 (01:08:40):
Like I the Buffalo fit for Micah.
Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
You need the defense. You just look, you're not paying
your receivers, you're paying your quarterback time.
Speaker 4 (01:08:54):
They don't. Their roster to me, is not great, like
when you look.
Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
At like Kansas City's roster or Baltimore's roster, or you know,
the other teams intended to contend content Like if you
put Buffalo in the AFC West, I think that they
have at best the third best roster behind the Chiefs,
(01:09:19):
Chargers and Broncos.
Speaker 4 (01:09:20):
It's fairss essmate.
Speaker 5 (01:09:21):
That's a ten and seven, eleven and six top season
in that division for them.
Speaker 2 (01:09:25):
Do you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 3 (01:09:26):
That's including Josh Allen who you know, you take your pick.
Speaker 2 (01:09:29):
I think it's you know, whichever quarterback you like the best,
kind of like whichever flavor ice cream you like the best?
At this point, card to go wrong with Mahomes, Alan Burrow, Jackson,
you know what I'm saying, Hard to go wrong with
the with the four horsemen. But uh, but yeah, I
just think that that Buffalo. If you can go out
there and get Michael Parsons, who is a major impact player,
(01:09:52):
fit him on the other side of Greg Russo, and
maybe just maybe Joey Bosa stays healthy, you can get
that that extra moment, that extra play that Chris Jones
running down Brock Purty in the Super Bowl which forces
the overthrow to Ayyuk in the corner, and all of
a sudden, Patrick Mahomes is lifting this Bombardi Trophy right
(01:10:15):
like its bond has to happen, you know what I'm saying,
Like that, that's how it works. I love the concept
of him in Buffalo.
Speaker 4 (01:10:22):
I'm right there with you, man.
Speaker 2 (01:10:25):
So we're looking at something that we have never seen
before in NFL history. And there's sometimes I feel like
I feel an obligation to both inform and entertain the audience.
Speaker 3 (01:10:41):
But also too, I feel an obligation to tell the audience.
Speaker 2 (01:10:44):
This is about to be a big deal. You may
remember about three weeks ago said this NFLPA thing is
about to blow up. You were on it. The fact,
you know the FBI is now investigating the NFLP I'm
just saying, what's the come knocking? It gets ugly. We
all need to be paying more attention to what's happening
(01:11:05):
in Jacksonville. And I know that's a sentence that's hard
for a lot of NFL America to swallow.
Speaker 4 (01:11:11):
Bear with me.
Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
Travis Hunter playing both sides of this ball in this scrimmage, Yeah, fascinating, incredible.
And Deon Sanders said something recently he's obviously well familiar
with Travis. He said that the way that the Jaguars
practiced right, not to get too deep into the minute shovel,
but the ones on the offense practiced against the twos
(01:11:34):
on defense, the twos on defense, I mean, the twos
on offense practice against the ones on defense. That way,
Travis is able to play with the ones each side
of the ball.
Speaker 3 (01:11:48):
That's the same thing they used to do with Colorado.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
Now, the big thing that Dion says is a lot
of different between Colorado and Jacksonville is Jacksonville is going
to huddle context. It was all tempo, tempo tempo. I
think is we just need to be paying more attention
to this. In general. The Jaguars, when you consider what
(01:12:14):
they spent to get Travis Hunter, they are definite. It
only makes sense if you're playing in both ways. They
are going to try and this is going to be
an experiment that we should be watching every step of
the way.
Speaker 5 (01:12:24):
I guess the biggest thing to think about is how
his of course frame is going to translate.
Speaker 4 (01:12:32):
And if you were to sit there and look at
a six, one.
Speaker 5 (01:12:34):
Eight five frame, are you more likely to struggle as
a corner and a lockdown corner at that? Are you
more likely to struggle as a wide receiver in certain packages?
Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
My instinct says more likely to struggle as a wide
receiver depending on where he's lined up, Like if you're
in the slot, maybe a little easier, but outside I
feel like that jam might be hard to get off
of for a guy who's so slight. But I ultimately
think he translates to a better corner than he does
receiver at this moment. But the beautiful thing about it.
Speaker 4 (01:13:08):
Is who knows right.
Speaker 2 (01:13:11):
We're not there and he's getting every opportunity to do
both sides of the ball. And while I don't necessarily
think he'll be wildly successful due to the fact of
just the heightened injury concern, that's my biggest concern is
the injury concern. I think mentality, He's got it. From
everything you hear about his endurance level, he seems to
(01:13:33):
have that, like the people saying like once he they
sh donate his body to science to see if his
heart is bigger than everybody else's or as lung as
are bigger than everybody else's.
Speaker 5 (01:13:41):
Is this like the biggest story in the off season
if he's on the Dallas Cowboys or a bigger market team,
because we're honestly sitting here and wrapping our arms around
something that no one's even really successfully done.
Speaker 2 (01:13:56):
Yes, if this, if Travis Hunter plays for the Cowboys,
it is front page news every single day.
Speaker 4 (01:14:03):
It has to be right, And I just.
Speaker 2 (01:14:05):
You know, I get it. He plays for the Jaguars.
Tough draft this year, number one overall pick goes to
Tennessee and then Travis Hunter goes to the Jaguars. Guys,
I get it. It's still NFL football in the ansty South.
They're still going to play seventeen games. We should pay
attention to it.
Speaker 5 (01:14:19):
Do we know what the Madden rating is for his
wide receiver number versus his corner number?
Speaker 4 (01:14:26):
I need to look that up immediate.
Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:14:28):
I saw he's an eighty four overall, But I don't
know if that's a receivers corner.
Speaker 5 (01:14:34):
What's a median on that? I don't know if that's
high for a that is high ian's on. I'm surprised
he was able to pop on, you know, mid two.
You know, if you don't mind taking a break from
your dinner over there, we'd like to play a special
edition of Who You Get? Oh no, sorry, we'd like
to play either or with one particular NFL quarterback that
(01:14:57):
has seeming to be just a hot button issue. Monica
actually texted me about this, well, somebody else was talking
about it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:05):
He said, if we don't talk about this on Saturday,
I've quit. So we're gonna do it as long as
I can take a break from Uh you be okay, you.
Speaker 4 (01:15:13):
Think you can?
Speaker 10 (01:15:14):
He just took another bite, by the way, I think
you care.
Speaker 4 (01:15:15):
Oh, I'm sorry, you just took another bike.
Speaker 2 (01:15:17):
All right, Well, we'll see if you're still chilling by
the time we come back. Martin Weiss, Alex Monico coming
to you live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. You know,
here's the thing about you know, the quarterback discourse.
Speaker 4 (01:15:35):
Everybody does lists.
Speaker 2 (01:15:37):
Everybody's got a top ten and right now, Alex Monica,
if you think I'm right here, everybody's pretty much inconsensus
on the top four.
Speaker 4 (01:15:48):
I would agree, And so like.
Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
You know, who do you have number one?
Speaker 4 (01:15:53):
Oh? Josh Hellen?
Speaker 8 (01:15:55):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:15:55):
Who cares? But the hotly contested topic has been where
do like Jalen Hurts and Justin Herbert fall in this
quarterbacking list? So you know what top ten list played out?
We decided that we are gonna go ahead and do
this think we see on social media all the time.
(01:16:16):
What is it called let's call it in or out?
Let's do in or out Justin Herbert edition, Let's go baby.
Speaker 4 (01:16:22):
Okay, I don't really know how to describe the rules
specifically here, but I'm gonna give you guys a list off.
I'm just gonna list off quarterbacks here, and you're gonna
tell me whether you would rather have that quarterback or
Justin Herbert to lead your franchise going forward.
Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
I would say, frame it like Justin Herbert or Mike.
Speaker 4 (01:16:39):
Yes, sir, all right, so let's start with this one.
Justin Herbert or Jordan Love. Oh, that's so dube. Justin Herbert,
dang it, he doesn't want to this is your quarterback, Alex,
What do you hate him for? I have so many reasons.
We'll get to I feel it we'll get to some
(01:17:00):
of them.
Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
I too, am taking Justin Herbert over Jordan Love.
Speaker 4 (01:17:03):
Okay, up Justin Herbert or Dak Prescott. I gotta go
hurt again. I don't want to Justin Herbert. Okay, Justin
Herbert or Jared Goff Jared Goff. I will go with
(01:17:24):
Jared Goff.
Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
Wow, But I do think that in a similar situation,
Justin Herbert could have a similar output.
Speaker 4 (01:17:32):
But goffman a two conference championship game. So is that
the main reason for it? It's just like what he's
done as opposed to.
Speaker 2 (01:17:39):
I've seen big playoff game.
Speaker 4 (01:17:40):
Sure sure, all right? Next up Justin Herbert or Trevor
Lawrence two fifty million dollar men that have not won
a playoff game.
Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
Trevor Lewris won a playoff game.
Speaker 5 (01:17:53):
Oh sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I guess you beat
Justin Herbert all like trevl Awrence? Give me Justin Herbert?
Speaker 4 (01:18:03):
All right, first disagreement there, thick about it? All right?
How about Justin Herbert or CJ. Stroud, CJ. Strap.
Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
I'll go Justin Herbert. I think, look, CJ's had more
success than his young career. I think though we do
not give Justin Herbert nearly enough credit, discredit, blame, whatever
the phrase is for having Brendan Staley as his head coach.
I think if Damico Ryans was Justin Herbert's head coach
is a rookie, he too would have a playoff win.
Speaker 4 (01:18:32):
That's the only chuckle you're getting out of me, because
that was hilarious. All Right, Would you guys rather have
Justin Herbert or Baker Mayfield? Oh, give me the six
foot man, a big Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 2 (01:18:43):
This one is a tough one for me. If you
had asked me this, honestly, really, up until this last season,
I'll have been all little Justin Herbert. Give me Baker, Yeah, Baker.
Baker is a big game player, man.
Speaker 4 (01:18:55):
I just feel like it's that one playoff game where
Herbert collapse. That's like this whole.
Speaker 5 (01:19:01):
Third biggest collapse in NFL playoff history. Ian not just
a collapse, third largest in the history of the sport.
Speaker 4 (01:19:10):
Who roots for a team who hasn't been to the
playoffs since twenty ten? I think it was so that's
fair man jets. All right, Justin Herbert or Caleb Williams.
Caleb Williams.
Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
YO, this might sound join me. I'm not Justin Herbert. Man,
I'm not out on Caleb Williams. But right now I
know Justin Herbert has fitted at a high level. I
think the coaching thing is the biggest thing. I wonder
if it's Caleb Williams, will the fundamentals get there? Will
like give me Justin Herbert?
Speaker 4 (01:19:43):
All right, Alex, I viewed this one as a test here,
this is a rough test. Okay, Justin Herbert or Kyler Murray.
It's Justin Herbert. Yeah, okay, it's Justin Herbert. Kyler Murray
outside of Madden drives your ballistic.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
Justin Herbert, because just like you said, Kyler Murray outside
of Madden does drives baalistic. One of the most maddening
players to bet on, teams to bet on the Arizona Cardinals.
Kyler Murray, although incredible talent if you wanted to do that,
I think most talented is one of the most overrated
conversations you can make. Yeah, Callamurray might be one of
(01:20:16):
the most talented quarterbacks we've ever seen, just not on.
Speaker 4 (01:20:19):
Double XP Weekend, right, exactly, all right? Justin Herbert or
brock Purty, Oh my gosh, Herbert, dang it, you don't
want to do you don't. He's not on my top
ten list. I'm going with Justin Herbert. And that's an
easy one.
Speaker 2 (01:20:38):
I think if if Justin Herbert was the quarterback for
the forty nine ers, they'd have a Super Bowl by now.
Speaker 4 (01:20:43):
Wow, forty one and thirty eight. Justin Herbert, he said,
forty one and thirty eight. You got top ten roster
his whole career, all right, This one might be the
hardest one. Justin Herbert or Jalen Hurts without hesitation, Jalen Hurts,
Oh no, there is no way you're taking Justin Herbert
(01:21:05):
over the man. I just want to Super MVP Lesson.
You're absolutely right. I'm taking just the Super Bowl MVP.
Hell because he's a better quarterback. Driving me.
Speaker 11 (01:21:15):
I'm sweating sure, all right, if you want to play rugby,
I'm calling the Jalen Hurts, if you want to play quarterback,
give me all sunshine and say.
Speaker 2 (01:21:23):
In La don't Sports Radio you got that right, And
we're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios, and
I tell you what, Alex. They are trying their hardest
out there in Bristol, Tennessee to play this baseball game.
Speaker 4 (01:21:40):
But God just got other plays. Oh man, it is Listen.
Speaker 2 (01:21:46):
I know they're trying their best. It feels like not
to show this on the Fox broadcast.
Speaker 4 (01:21:52):
It's raining so.
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
Hard they would pause a football game, much less of
baseball game. I think you're right, Like, uh, when the
top of the first inning, I'm watching whoever's pitching out there,
and it's hard to see because there's so and you really,
to me, one of the benefits slash trouble that comes
(01:22:20):
with the four K and HD and all the just
the advancements in television broadcasting is sometimes I think it's
a little bit harder to discern just how bad the
weather is where you're watching the game.
Speaker 4 (01:22:36):
Well, you know it's bad when they're cutting to the
weather man's media.
Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
Yeah, when they're going to the Doppler four thousand looking
at the just the radar disaster.
Speaker 4 (01:22:47):
If I'm a Reds fan, I see Ellie day La
Cruz on second during this, I do not want them
to continue ball.
Speaker 2 (01:22:54):
I like how I can't see who it is, but
they are noothers showing any shots of the dugout, there's
a Reds player or manager just sitting out of the overhang.
He is just getting choked and tell you what to
the fans credit, I'm not sure how far that overhang goes.
There is a lot more people there. I'll put it
(01:23:15):
like this. There's way more people there than would be there.
There would be one less if I was there, I
would have went.
Speaker 4 (01:23:21):
Home by now.
Speaker 5 (01:23:22):
This looks like a Savannah Bananas type dedicated crowd. The
thing that Steve pointed out during the breakdown is they
got the day open tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (01:23:31):
At what point do you consider just moving this to Manyana.
Speaker 2 (01:23:34):
But the problem is, well, you know what, I guess
this is the way you could look at it. Everybody
who traveled to this it seems like they might not
be getting out of town anytime soon with this weather anyway,
So the flights from Bristol domestic airport if that even exists,
or international airport whatever, those flights will probably be delayed.
(01:23:57):
So maybe they all can fly out together.
Speaker 4 (01:24:00):
God a get mood right now? Is Spencer Strider who
now has the day off?
Speaker 8 (01:24:04):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:24:04):
Not bad, not bad, you know, but I guess he
does it to sit in Tennessee while it's just it
is raining so aggressively hard.
Speaker 5 (01:24:14):
If you're burns too, you just went three up, three down,
and I gotta sit there and wait. Like you said,
Ricky Bobby shot out, Where is he when you need
him here?
Speaker 2 (01:24:23):
It's just they would I feel like they literally may
not play football in this type of weather.
Speaker 4 (01:24:29):
Well, am I am I overstating. I don't think I'm overstating.
We're staring at real rain. It does not feel like August. No,
it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (01:24:38):
Well, I say one place where it does feel like August,
and especially an exciting August Bears training camp. The gift
that keeps on giving because everybody is locked in because.
Speaker 4 (01:24:51):
You have.
Speaker 2 (01:24:53):
Generational prospect forever until he plays, you know, Caleb Williams.
And then you have a guy I would such a wonder.
Can the coach that this guy was turning down interviews,
turning down interviews before taking this Chicago Bears job in
(01:25:14):
Ben Johnson. Now there's I think it's interesting conversation to
determine who's got the most pressure on them. I'm looking
at this just, you know, not necessarily from a wait
and see, but just trying to see how things are
playing out, how things are going, And I'm paying attention
to a lot of stuff as they roll the tarp
(01:25:37):
back out onto the field. That's what I'm saying. It's like, bro,
it is a rainstorm out there. It is really really wet.
I don't look they talking about Steven talking about a
drying agent. Look, I don't know what drying agent they
possibly could have to be able to get out there.
The only one they could have is move the game. Anyway.
Speaker 4 (01:25:58):
We'll keep you updated on the uh, the weather in Bristol.
Speaker 2 (01:26:02):
This is brutal, man, but they're all they're rolling out
the tarp now too in the outfield.
Speaker 4 (01:26:08):
It's hoarri. This is like throwback PS two graphics were like,
is this is that rain? Oh my gosh, it range that.
Speaker 2 (01:26:17):
Terry's like, Terry Francona and UH and the manager of
the Brace Snicker are sitting here and the conversation, the conversation.
Speaker 4 (01:26:25):
That have to be having is this is this is ridiculous, ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (01:26:28):
We're gonna call this thing right like, and Steve Shaky
said no, they're not gonna call it. But then it's
like he's like, look, I get that. We got broadcast partners.
But look, what are we doing here? Anyway?
Speaker 11 (01:26:40):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
Back to no matter here Keally Williams and Ben Johnson.
There was a little nugget that came out of Bears
training camp a couple of days ago that was like, Okay,
maybe things are going better than I thought, or maybe
just this was way worse than I ever thought it
could be. Yea Halo couldn't hear a play, right, you
(01:27:03):
didn't hear a play in his helmet. He put his
hands up and was doing.
Speaker 4 (01:27:07):
Hey, I don't know what to do, what to do?
What to do this?
Speaker 2 (01:27:10):
The report said that Ben Jonson called him over and said,
the next time that happens, should have a few plays
just in your head to know. Okay, whenever I can't here,
we're gonna run this, if it's this scenario. We're gonna
run that if it's that scenario, and then we'll forget
it figured out for the next play.
Speaker 4 (01:27:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
I was like, and this is what I love about
sports as a guy who kind of studies it and
didn't really play it at a high level or even
a mid level.
Speaker 4 (01:27:39):
All low level.
Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
For me, it's like duh, of course, But the fact
that nobody thought to tell him that before, to me,
speaks volumes a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:27:52):
Of this is not rocket science, but a lot of it.
Speaker 2 (01:27:56):
If you're not paying attention to the little things, the
little thing, it will cost you games. How many games
last year do we see the Chicago Bears lose late
game because of some communication issues? So listen, absolutely, Ben
Johnson at least has says, you know what, we'll at
least have a plan.
Speaker 4 (01:28:14):
What was the famous Eberflus last nine seconds? It was
the clock just running out. He had a time out,
he didn't have a time out.
Speaker 2 (01:28:19):
He just completely ran the clock out against the Lions.
I mean, there's you could make a football life of
Matt Eberflu's mistakes as the head coach of the Wash
the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 4 (01:28:32):
Without no doubt.
Speaker 5 (01:28:34):
This is interesting because last week we talked about Ben
Johnson with a little bit of a playful neg to
Caleb on the podium. Now we're talking about maybe a
positive instead of burying him.
Speaker 4 (01:28:47):
Gives him a great.
Speaker 5 (01:28:49):
Nugget there, because there's no way my homes, Josh Allen,
somebody stops down practice.
Speaker 2 (01:28:54):
And I think that's like to me, if you are Ben,
the way that Ben Johnson has been talking this offseason,
it is all about Caleb Williams, all about Kayle, all
about him.
Speaker 4 (01:29:08):
It is.
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
And I'm not trying to downplay the other players on
the team obviously, but intro press conference, we're getting Caleb
Williams right through training camp. He's drinking from a fire hose.
We're giving him all this information, all this stuff right
to me. I read all of that and it's like, ah,
I don't love this the whole We're putting all of
our eggs in one basket mentality here. But then when
(01:29:32):
I hear the second part of.
Speaker 4 (01:29:35):
Hey man, like.
Speaker 2 (01:29:37):
Just calm down, have a play ready. Everything is fine,
It's okay, we'll figure it out. Second down, It'll be fine.
We'll get there. We'll get there.
Speaker 5 (01:29:48):
It's interesting because isn't Caleb He's known for improvising mid play,
pre play. I guess he's a different lad. But I
kind of got the inkling, like Ben Johnson's a perfectionist
if you had to. This guy seems like he wants
a tight ship ran with a guy who likes to improvise,
And I think when you put Caleb Williams in the
(01:30:09):
category of there's ten guys that are really I don't
want to say prolific yet for him it's only been
one year, but all the way back to college. The
ability to improvise is not in a lot of these
guys makeup, not in a Jared Goff's makeup. But it
isn't a Baker Mayfield. It is in a Mahomes, It
is in a Caleb Williams, ironically a Matt Stafford. A
lot of baseball guys have the improvised geam.
Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
Yeah, it's not to nerd out, but I think it
has a lot to do with arm angles and the
way you throw a ball differently from the outfield or
something like that. You know, you throw the catcher throws
the baseball differently, or especially if you're a pitcher, you're
literally gripping the ball differently and trying to keep your
arm slot the same. But it's just you know, you
turn two differently than you try to get an outfield assist.
Two different types of pros Russell Wilson another one another
(01:30:55):
one make me think, as you bring them up guys
at their heights, we're able to buy time, wiggle figure
it out. And I think that is truly where your
quarterback proto type in this day and Age is a
guy who is not necessarily I'm not calling him fast,
(01:31:15):
but I'm calling him athletic enough to go get me
some yards right, Oh yeah. Like Patrick Mahomes, I would
not quantify him as fast. At any given moment in time.
He is at best the sixth or seventh fastest player
on the field. The running back faster, all the defensive
backs faster, but running at the opportune time to get
(01:31:36):
some wiggle to figure it out. Jalen Hurts another one.
He's not a burner, but he's fast enough to where
he can go get your ten yards. Joe Burrow another one.
These are guys that they're elusive. A lot of them
are elusive, and Jalen Hurts maybe not so much, but Burrow,
Alan Mahomes, those three specifically, I think are buying a
(01:31:58):
lot of time with the tend to throw the ball right.
And that's what Kayleb Williams is doing so for Ben
Johnson I did throughout his career at USC. For Ben Johnson,
I think it's about we have to make sure we
don't take negative plays on first down. We are getting
into the right looks first and second down, and then
(01:32:19):
on third and thirteen. Pull that cape out of your
back pocket, Superman and put it on Kayleb Williams. Figure
this out. Save us out from our own issues. But
first and second down, let's keep on schedule. Let's stay
the course. If you don't hear the play, Hey, that's cool.
Speaker 4 (01:32:35):
That's cool.
Speaker 2 (01:32:36):
Run whatever play you know to run right now? What's
our best second and eight play? You know our best
second in a play?
Speaker 4 (01:32:42):
What do we do?
Speaker 2 (01:32:43):
Let's do that so we can get a positive motional
so our two yard game on first down does not
turn into delay, a game doesn't turn into false starts,
all of that type of stuff which we saw ruin
the Chicago Bears last year.
Speaker 5 (01:32:57):
Do you think old habits die hard in the sense
that ironically, Philip Rivers was in the news this week
and he was talking about his arm angle and that
was a whole thing back in the day because he
was so young. He was thrown from that angle because
he didn't have the strength to the Caleb Williams thought
that he is an improviser and Ben Johnson wants his
quarterbacks buttoned up, quick releases. If you had to just
(01:33:17):
guess which way it goes more early, Ben Johnson's way
quick passes positive yards or do we see a little
bit of trial and error because Caleb is so used
to extending plays and wanting to extend plays almost at times,
and that doesn't really seem like the Ben Johnson way.
Speaker 2 (01:33:37):
What needs to happen for them too is a very
similar situation that happened in Washington. Jaydon Daniels got the uh,
you know, I need a car, and all these Rows cars,
Rush Patts got that level of download into the matrix
of the offense, right yeah, and so like that's what
(01:33:58):
we're hearing out of Chicago right now. But what Cliff
then did Kingsbury is he paired the playbook down to
what Jayden did well for the first six weeks of
the year and then added concepts and added concepts and
added concept perfect If we see Caleb Williams and we've
(01:34:20):
heard this take floating out there, I think if we
are looking at the Bears offense in around Christmas time
and it looks the same way it did around Halloween,
I think we're in We're in trouble.
Speaker 4 (01:34:36):
I think you're absolutely right. I think you're on something.
Speaker 5 (01:34:38):
What's fascinating about the Kingsbury example is that's the OC,
the OC's ego, especially after it not working as a
head coach in Arizona. He's doing everything to get back
to that seat. Meanwhile, Ben Johnson flourishes as an OC
gets a promotion.
Speaker 4 (01:34:57):
We talked about it off here on and on.
Speaker 5 (01:34:59):
He seem like he wants it in his program rightfully,
show he earned it to be run a certain way.
It's just gonna be a fascinating dance because obviously, in
a perfect world you want to find a happy medium
between klebs X factor style and Ben Johnson's unbelievable play
calling from last year. I just think, to your thought,
(01:35:19):
it might be a little bit of slowly rolled out
till they.
Speaker 4 (01:35:23):
Find that common ground.
Speaker 2 (01:35:25):
There's the thing also that's interesting with the situation. There's
only one person with this job in an NFL organization.
There's only one person whose job it is to win
and lose games, and that's the head coach. Offensive coordinator job,
(01:35:46):
get first downs, score points, Defensive coordinator job, get the
defense off the field, stop the run, don't get penalties.
You know what I'm saying, all that type of stuff.
The only person whose job it is to win is
the head coach. The first time it's ever been that
for Ben Johnson, we'll see how he's able to go
about doing it. When the Chicago Bears one of the
(01:36:09):
most interesting teams in the NFC. Now, there are a
few things that you can garner from training camp, mostly
from like we're supecially when her coaches talk about players.
You know, you can see some fantasy things come out.
You know, oh, you know they're really like this third
string running back over this third string running back. You know, oh,
(01:36:30):
maybe he's a sleeper.
Speaker 4 (01:36:31):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:36:31):
Maybe you can garner like what offensive linemen are gaining
they're showing from coaches. You can hear get some stuff
from players generally, like you know, quarterback will talk about
how good the offense is moving, or star receiver will
talk about how good the offense is moving. For the
first time in a long time, a star receiver is
(01:36:53):
speaking out, and I have a feeling that his team
just kind.
Speaker 4 (01:36:59):
Of wishes he with shut up.
Speaker 2 (01:37:02):

Speaker 2 (01:37:46):
You know, uh what people thought in Miami was gonna
look better Tyreek Hill at a Miami Dolphins uniform. And
after a disappointing year last year, out of Tyreek Hill,
we're at that stage, Alex where you know it's it's
training camp. It's very.
Speaker 3 (01:38:06):
Very early honeymoon stage.
Speaker 2 (01:38:09):
Like you know, everybody's kind of having it like the
red flags at Maypop, like they're not necessarily red flagging
in the same way.
Speaker 4 (01:38:18):
I like that red flagging.
Speaker 2 (01:38:22):
I'm Tyreek ended last year with I'm out right, remember
that That's how he ended last season.
Speaker 3 (01:38:27):
I'm out deuces.
Speaker 4 (01:38:28):
I want to make the playoffs. I'm out.
Speaker 2 (01:38:31):
Then He since since returned to Miami and has taken
on a role of being more vocal for sure. And
I just feel like, if I'm the Dolphins, I kind
of just a man, Why don't you let to handle this?
Speaker 4 (01:38:48):
And you just stop? Have you heard some of the
things coming out of Dolphins camp, out of Tyreek Hill,
I've heard too much? Like what was your personal favorite
Tyreek kill is coming out of camp?
Speaker 5 (01:38:58):
I mean him just throwing absolute put down for their
running back eight Chan.
Speaker 4 (01:39:03):
Oh, if we need to move the chains on third
and short. Oh, by the way, it's not going to
be this guy. And he quote tweeted a Chan quote
tweeted it, and he hasn't tweeted in weeks. Has a
tweeted two weeks?
Speaker 2 (01:39:18):
I mean, I feel you very much. Was like, yo,
are you kidding me? Like, I like, why you have
in trouble a short yard? And he goes, oh, you know,
we just not. We need to block it up better.
We need you know, hey, you know you know the
other team gets paid to no, no, no, we got
to put in our power back.
Speaker 4 (01:39:37):
Jalen Wright, he said, Jalen Wright, who's not even a
power back he's a speedback too.
Speaker 5 (01:39:42):
Literally, any place Madden and Tyreek plays Madden, he should
know that situation.
Speaker 2 (01:39:48):
Lean it's uh, he got he That's one thing he
definitely does is play video games. Uh. This was my
personal favorite Tyreek uh ism. Let's hear it from campus.
So this year he's taking notes.
Speaker 4 (01:40:05):
Micah Parson's notes, Sir Tyreek Hill.
Speaker 2 (01:40:08):
Has been in the NFL for over like half a decade,
and he's like, now I've decided to take notes.
Speaker 5 (01:40:15):
This is how you know Mike McDaniel is closer to
a coordinator than a head coach.
Speaker 4 (01:40:21):
This would never fly under Andy Reid's leadership.
Speaker 2 (01:40:27):
I'm gonna be completely honest, said Hill. I didn't understand
the offense for the first three years of me being here,
but this year, I feel like Bobby Slowik has explained
it a lot.
Speaker 5 (01:40:40):
That is an awful thing to say, especially considering that
out an eighteen hundred first year.
Speaker 4 (01:40:46):
If I'm not mistaken, No, but you know what it
reminds me of, Oh, was it maybe last year.
Speaker 2 (01:40:51):
Or the year before?
Speaker 3 (01:40:53):
You know, it was two years ago, cause it was
the big social media debate two.
Speaker 2 (01:41:01):
Of versus Justin Herbert and we're right back in and
we're right back right, Tyreek Hill, look this up, Look
this up. Tyreek Hill against the Commanders had a bomb
of a touchdown maybe seventy yard touchdown catch, sixty yard
touchdown catch, and he was running down the right side
(01:41:23):
of the field and the throw went to the inside
and everybody was like.
Speaker 4 (01:41:30):
Look how bad this throw is. Tua can't even get
the ball out there.
Speaker 2 (01:41:35):
And Tyreek went in the post game and said, I
ran the wrong route and to it, you know what
I'm saying, like, I ran the wrong route.
Speaker 4 (01:41:42):
I was. He was just so open, and two, I
had to get him the ball. And actually there was
a one of those.
Speaker 2 (01:41:48):
NFL miked up deals that it comes over and he's
like Tyreek comes up like, hey my bad dog, My bad.
Speaker 4 (01:41:55):
Two was like, hey, we scored a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:41:57):
That's all good. But it just goes to show you
that on that play, I'm ninety eight percent sure. Dolphin's
Commanders twenty twenty four twenty three to twenty four season.
He like is streaking up and beats beats the cornerback
by a mile. Yeah, and he just had to completely
flip his shoulders. You know, generally he's looking over his
(01:42:20):
outside shoulder. He had to completely flip around to his
inside shoulder, and it was a time at the time,
I'm looking at the throws, like, dude, this strow was
so bad. Tyreek had to run four steps inside to
go get it.
Speaker 6 (01:42:31):
I no know.
Speaker 2 (01:42:32):
He ran the wrong he ran the wrong.
Speaker 5 (01:42:34):
It's fascinating when he came to town and he gassed
up to as you were just saying like he is
the best thing since slice spread. And then here we
are now note taking just a couple of years in
South Beach. Yeah, you know, how does this end? It
doesn't sound like it ends about five hundred Oh.
Speaker 2 (01:42:51):
No, oh no, this is this is This ends with
a long and healthy look at the first coach fire
odds as soon as they drop.
Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
You know, Alex, I've seen a lot. I've seen a
lot in my day, but this has got to be.
Speaker 2 (01:43:08):
The first time I've seen them playing a regular season
baseball game where they have to wipe off the cameras
before you can see who's safe out if somebody scored.
Kick it over to Steve the Sager for more on
that and everything else in the world of sports.
Speaker 4 (01:43:24):
Guys.
Speaker 9 (01:43:25):
They have just made the announcement official. No more baseball
at Bristol Motor Speedway tonight in Tennessee. But they scheduled
these two to be off tomorrow. This game will resume Sunday.
Speaker 4 (01:43:38):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (01:43:40):
They tried so hard that they get this game in.
Speaker 9 (01:43:43):
Fox went on the air with an hour pregame show
at six pm Eastern. They've just signed off at ten
thirty Eastern and they didn't even get a full inning in.
Speaker 2 (01:43:52):
And this doesn't even count as an official game, like
they were runs scored and something like that.
Speaker 9 (01:43:57):
No, not halfway through the game, right, yeah, exactly, But
it's a better weather forecast. It's not you like tonight
was literally eighty percent chance arrain, ninety percent chance rain.
Instead of resuming and playing first inning baseball at maybe
eleven pm Eastern and then trying to keep going at
midnight and one, they're just going to keep the teams
(01:44:18):
until tomorrow and it will be on Fox TV Sunday,
one pm Eastern, live from Bristol Motor Speedway. The infield
there is the NASCAR track in Tennessee, Atlanta versus Cincinnati.
And by the way, they did start and did have
a run scored by the Reds on an RBI single
bottom of the first, but you could tell what the
(01:44:38):
camera work as the ball went past the infield. I mean,
it looked like it was going past a pond, not
a dirt road field. So you can't say it's the
wrong decision. It's just an unfortunate weather evening.
Speaker 2 (01:44:52):
I know I have I know some people in that
broadcast that you know, they're so excited about the concept
of staying one more night in Bristol, Tennessee, so excited.
Speaker 9 (01:45:03):
Well, you could always head over to Johnson City.
Speaker 2 (01:45:05):
Oh yeah, there you go.
Speaker 9 (01:45:08):
There are three late games just underway. No offense to
my friend in Tennessee. There Padres, who have won six
in a row, are leading one nothing over the Cardinals
bottom of the second. Slightly better weather in San Diego, California,
right the White Sox are leading the Angels in Anaheim.
Won nothing in the bottom of the second, and the Diamondbacks,
who've lost six in a row, are leading the A's
one nothing bottom of the second. In West Sacramento. Cleveland
(01:45:30):
won it's four straight, five to four over Minnesota with
a run in the eighth. Colorado eight five over Pittsburgh.
Paul Sken's the Pirates starter and no decision giving up
four runs in his five innings. The Mets are back
into first in the NL East half game over the Phillies.
Phil's lost at home to Detroit seven to five. The
Mets were winners against slumping San Francisco twelve to six.
(01:45:51):
That Detroit victory went to Trek Scooble, who had ten
strikeouts in seven innings. He's eleven and three this year,
was the cy Young winner last year. Zira this season
two point one to eight so far, and in fact,
in his last three road starts he's had a ten
strikeout game with no walks at Cleveland, then an eleven
strikeout game with no walks at Texas, and now a
(01:46:13):
ten strikeout game with no walks at Philadelphia. In the
entire modern era of Major League Baseball, only one other
pitcher it had three straight road starts like that at
least ten strikeouts no walks each time, and that was
Clayton Kershaw in his dominant twenty sixteen season. The Dodgers
were shut out at Tampa Bay four nothing. Today, the
Rays hit three home runs. Had The good news for
(01:46:35):
the Dodgers, Blake Snell finally back on the mound for
the first time since April five innings, eight strikeouts, no walks.
Baltimore beat the Cubs four to three in Chicago. The
Cubs now two games back at the first place Brewers
in the NL. Central Milwaukee won eight two at Washington,
victories for Toronto and Boston. Miami shut out the Yankees
to nothing. Texas won in eleven innings at Seattle six
(01:46:58):
to four. The Lakers gave lucad On such a three
year MAX extension. The Broncos signed defensive lineman Zach Allen
to a four year extension. The Ramsay quarterback Matthew Stafford,
with the bad back, will not be playing in next
week's joint practice against Dallas WNBA. Minnesota blew out Las Vegas,
but Minnesota all starting to feast of Collier left with
(01:47:18):
an ankle injury, and a thrilling women's soccer game on
FS one tonight, Brazil took the Copa America final on
penalty kicks over Columbia after the game was tied four
to four following the overtimes.
Speaker 2 (01:47:29):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin, Wise and Alex Monico.

I updated the app, so I was like, you know what,
damn it, you got me.
Speaker 4 (01:48:03):
I'll update it.
Speaker 2 (01:48:04):

Speaker 4 (01:48:25):
Miss the rest of our show.
Speaker 2 (01:48:26):
I'm just saying, Look, if you've been here this long,
I appreciate you hanging on because it seems to be
not happening in Los Angeles, because you know what we're
all doing right here for giving our full effort. We're
giving our best effort, much like the ground crew in Bristol,
Tennessee tonight. They're given our best effort.
Speaker 4 (01:48:47):
Unlike them.
Speaker 2 (01:48:48):
God's not making us stop doing this radio show like
they made them stop playing baseball.
Speaker 4 (01:48:52):
With that rain.
Speaker 2 (01:48:53):
However, there's a big day in Lakerland today. You know
how I know it was a big day in Lakerland today.
Rob Polenka said, so, he said, matter of fact, they
have it right here. Today Luca Donzon shows the Los
Angeles Lakers and that is a monumental moment in Lakers history. Wow,
(01:49:19):
we cannot be more grateful. So today, per Lakers DM
Rob Polenka, a monumental moment in Lakers history.
Speaker 4 (01:49:31):
Interestingly enough, at this monumental.
Speaker 2 (01:49:34):
Moment in Lakers history, the second longest tenured member of
the Los Angeles Lakers conspicuously absent. That'd be Lebron James.
His coach was there. JJ Redick was here. That's right,
the two buyout members of the team, DeAndre Ayton and
(01:49:58):
Marcus Smart. I'm gonna come up with a better nickname
for them because they're gonna be talking points all year.
But they were both there present, and there were reports
of Luca Dodges called Marcus Smartt and said, hey, buddy,
come out to LA. Right, similar stories for DeAndre Ayton
deal come out to.
Speaker 4 (01:50:16):
LA love it? Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:50:19):
The the story I've heard about Lebron recently something about
like a European basketball league.
Speaker 4 (01:50:26):
He's taking pictures with Joki's agent. Not much to do.
Speaker 2 (01:50:32):
About the Los Angeles Lakers.
Speaker 4 (01:50:34):
Not much at all, Martin, If you had to guess
if Lebron shot Luca text today, would you say yes
or would you say no.
Speaker 2 (01:50:46):
I'm gonna go family feud style. Steve Harvey Survey says no,
I would go No.
Speaker 4 (01:50:53):
That is demoralizing, do.
Speaker 5 (01:50:56):
You if you're a Lakers fan, It's nothing short of demoralized.
Speaker 2 (01:51:01):
Lebron James for Better for Worse is like this older
version of millennial who we are not like gen Z,
where like we're not gonna post ourselves crying on the internet, right,
but like we are definitely posting on the internet with
the intention that this matters and means something like the
(01:51:22):
idea of it's just Twitter, it's just Instagram.
Speaker 4 (01:51:26):
And then then then then then that's how Michael parsons.
Speaker 2 (01:51:29):
Right, it matters, it matters, right. Michael Parson's put this
thing out there were taking that as canon law.
Speaker 4 (01:51:34):
Right man as well be trademarked Michael Parsons.
Speaker 2 (01:51:38):
Lebron reticence to post anything about what's happened with the
Lakers just off season.
Speaker 4 (01:51:47):
The silence speaks, volumes, volumes.
Speaker 5 (01:51:52):
Martin, They're going nowhere like again, five o'clock traffic in
la If doesn't wrap his arms around Luca, they're smoked.
Speaker 4 (01:52:04):
They're done. Forget about it. The Clippers have a better
shot as the oldest team.
Speaker 2 (01:52:08):
In the league, the Clippers to At a point, James
Harden apparently reportedly calls Brad Beale, come play with me.
I want you to come play with me right.
Speaker 11 (01:52:24):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:52:26):
The idea that Lebron plays somewhere else this year, it's
gonna be hard for me.
Speaker 4 (01:52:32):
I don't just mechanically, I don't know how it happens.
Speaker 2 (01:52:38):
But the idea that Lebron on what could be a
last victory, last lap around the proverbial NBA son, Yeah,
second to last lap around a proverbial NBA son could
make this oh so awkward is one that I'm just
I buy that that makes a lot of sense to me.
Speaker 4 (01:53:00):
Are you awkward? If he didn't text him, if and
we don't know. But if he didn't show up and
he didn't text them, this is what we do know.
Speaker 2 (01:53:07):
We know that he did not he was not at
the press conference. We also know he has not posted
in support of either the Lakers sale or Luca going.
Speaker 5 (01:53:17):
In August when you've been in the league. As long
as he has to a press conference front, I'll give
him an out for that. A no text, no tweet
in support of this, Martin. This says everything that we
need to hear and not want to accept, but have
to get ahead of it.
Speaker 4 (01:53:36):
He's not happy. He is not happy at this moment
in purple and golf. You know who is? I tell
you what.
Speaker 2 (01:53:42):
The local hero, Fox eleven and we're based in Los
Angeles is now showing the clips of Luca Dontis's press
conference since the speedway got rescheduled. Luca looks good. I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (01:53:55):
I know I've been poopooing this story for every time
they talk about it. He looks.
Speaker 11 (01:54:00):
Don't look how happy he looks? Look how much happened
just six months ago? Six months ago, he looked like
he was ready to quit. He looked like he was
about to cry at the Lakers and deductor press conference
a Ropaulinka and his little jacket was happy it could be.
Luca look devastated. He don't look devastated today. Boy, he
do not look devastated today.
Speaker 5 (01:54:21):
He looks like a movie star happy to be in Hollywood, suited,
ready to dance.
Speaker 2 (01:54:26):
He looks good.
Speaker 4 (01:54:29):
He looks good.
Speaker 5 (01:54:30):
And how does this end with Lebron, Luca and the Lakers?
The three l's and someone is taking it out ahead?
Speaker 2 (01:54:38):
For sure?
Speaker 4 (01:54:39):
I honestly don't know. I think that.
Speaker 2 (01:54:41):
I mean, I think that this becomes very very uncomfortable.
Speaker 5 (01:54:46):
This is gonna be really uncomfortable real quick, I think.
And this is wild because Lebron can still contribute to
a championship.
Speaker 4 (01:54:51):
Team if he doesn't want to be there.
Speaker 5 (01:54:54):
We're now talking about Polinka and the internal Lakers upper
management having to sit there and go, all right, we
got to open up the phone lines because we can't
have this which guy staying longer? It's a rhetorical question
after today, So now you have to sit here and
go what are.
Speaker 2 (01:55:12):
We going to do?
Speaker 4 (01:55:14):
Internally? Quickly?
Speaker 2 (01:55:16):
Yeah, it's uh, what do you.
Speaker 4 (01:55:18):
Want to happen?
Speaker 2 (01:55:19):
Forget about what might happen? What do you want to
do I want to what do you want to happen?
Lakers start off five and five and Lebron says we
need help.
Speaker 4 (01:55:27):
Oh no, and then chaos ensues.
Speaker 2 (01:55:31):
Hey, you asked me what I want to happen.
Speaker 4 (01:55:33):
Like, I'm not a Lakers fan in the slightest.
Speaker 2 (01:55:35):
That's what I do.
Speaker 4 (01:55:36):
RTR root for radio. I know, that's all right, that's great.
Speaker 2 (01:55:42):
Fun fact there's been one player and the National Football
Hall of Fame Pro Football Hall of Fame who never
played college football. I'll have that for you and more
in a special Hall of Fame edition of Who You
Got
