You know what man they said this to in Francisco,
forty nine of Shadow Game was supposed to be sloppy
and rainy. Well, I guess that maybe that rain had
an airline flight to cat called a delay, because it
is still stuck down here in Los Angeles. Like a
lot of other people who try to leave the National
Championship game, are their local places and could not get

(00:44):
out of here. There's reigning hats and dogs out here,
as the forty Niners are reigning points on the Seahawks.
Right now, seventeen eleven minutes left in the fourth quarter,
Deebo Shamuels running wild. That score might change before the
end of this sentence, and it looks like it's going
to now thirty nine, seventeen extra point pending Brock Party,
three touchdowns, zero interceptions, twenty point lead for the San

(01:08):
Francisco for the Niners in the game in which Seattle,
I mean they were favored by nine. So Vegas saw
Pete Carroll prior to the game talking about San Francisco,
essentially calling them thanos from the Avengers, like this, Superman,
you know what you name an iron man? I mean,
right now it looks like forward psychology as they are
getting their ass one. Yeah, man, what's up everybody out there?

(01:30):
What's up? Man? What's going on? Our life is good? Yeah? Man,
life is good, man, life is outstanding. Yeah, this get
game right here. It's uh, it's going. It's going. Chalk
see how to played really well in the first half.
And you gotta almost play footlawless when you're on the
road and you're out man like this in the NFL
in the playoffs, and I think some other teams are
gonna find that out too, man. And we'll talk more
about Pete Carroll as the show goes on in Geno

(01:51):
Smith at Seattle and also San Francisco and brock Party.
But you know, this game is going pretty much chop
rock Party right now, singeth from the field and three touchdowns,
as you said, as a QBR rating of one thirty
six point six. But a lot of people do feel
like that this San Francisco for team, getting all their
guys back, getting out of their pieces back, is a

(02:12):
championship type team. They have the number one defense in football,
they have a top five or top six ranked offense
and football. They can run. Perty's not turning the ball
over throwing to the guys he needs to throw to
today Christian McCaffrey a buck on the ground, deebo who
wants some of debo one thirty three through the air
in the touch I mean when you're putting production together
like that and then you flip the side over to

(02:34):
uh the Seattle Seahawks and what they're doing walker fifty
six yards on the ground, My man, Gino's only got
two in the air and to touchdown the big one
to dk metcalf down the left sideline right before the
half in the second quarter. Like I said, man, they
showed up and they played tough and played hard. But
like you know, one of my favorite sayings, and as
old school as it goes in football, it's not always
the XS and ose Man. Sometimes you just need to

(02:55):
have more Jimmy's and Joe's in the San Francisco forty
Niners at this point in current time in life and
football have more Jimmies and Joes than the Seattle Seahawks.
Congratulations the Seahawks, though people thought they were gonna tank,
people thought they were gonna be the worst team in
the league. And all seventy one year old Pat Carroll
did was implement eleven minutes left in the game. I mean,

(03:18):
just they start still eleven minutes something to get a
little early for the funeral time. Let's let him die first.
But I say this, you know you said put out
of the misery? Why would you so you would let her?
You would let somebody suffer instead of put them out
of their misery. Listen, I'll just say list the doctors
are still doing their work, and they got fine medical
professionals out here. That's all I got to say. Let

(03:39):
let let you know, maybe we see a miracle. But
I will say this, I don't know about how well
Seattle was playing in the first half. I think a
lot of the first half had more to do with
Kyle Shanahan having a rookie quarterback. And he came out
in the first half of this game, and I thought
he coached it masterfully, because all right, this is a
game we should win. Obviously ten point favorites, so on

(04:00):
they go to the first half. First half was a battle,
like you said, seventeen up, it was a right around
both sev SEV six half. Seattle goes into the first
half with the league. Brock Purdy threw more passes in
the second half, I mean in the first half. Then
he has almost like he's I guarantee you Rather, what
I should say is brock Purdy is gonna have more

(04:20):
pass attempts in the first half by at least a third,
than he will in the second half. And the thing
about it is, he said, okay, let's come out here.
We got a rookie quarterback. Let's be aware of it.
Let's get him out here. We need you to be comfortable.
We're gonna get you comfortable. And he saw the first
two drives in this game, he didn't look comfortable. Now
he looks like, I mean, you know, going forward, he

(04:40):
hasn't had a quote unquote rookie moment. He hasn't had
his moment of he is looked I'd say since the
second second quarter on, especially in the second half, he's
looked just like he's looked in his last ten starts.
Now in the first half not so much. But you remember,
you'll remember how many of those pass attempts over fifteen
yards in the air, over on the yards in the air.

(05:01):
He was getting them warmed up, he was getting them loose.
I think Shanahan, for a team that has Super Bowl
aspirations and knows that quarterback is the weak spot on
the team, that was a great job of getting them
loose in a in a quote unquote low impact as
low impact as a playoff game can be moment, because
what he didn't do was coming out here, like he
didn't set in the third quarter to start the third
quarter seven minute drive, fifteen runs on the play on

(05:23):
the drivers running the ball, eating clock, eating clock, and
the uh eight minutes off the off a fifteen minute
minute quarter and then uh, you know, end up doing
that force turnover. Now the game's out of hand. So
if you start spinning it now with brock Bertie, defenses
are playing differently, you know what I'm saying, It's it's
a whole different vibe than it is right there when
Seattle still is in their game plan, it's still trying

(05:44):
to win it. And with all that being said, Gino
just throws an interception. So now San Francisco has got
the ball back in Seattle territory. So, as I said,
this game is pretty much a rap back to brock Purty. Though,
any rookie, I believe in their first playoff game is
gonna be a little nerves. We only see it though
from the quarterback position because he's the guy that's got
the ball. But if there's a rookie. Seattle started to

(06:06):
level two tackles, the first time for a playoff team
to start two tackles in the NFL playoff game since
in like forty years. So you don't think those two
gentlemen were nervous, But we're not gonna see it though,
because the ball is not in their hands. Party was
just a little nervous, probably a little amped up up.
They were calling different types of play. Well you're still

(06:27):
throwing the ball though, that matter what type they were
still throwing. There's a difference between somebody being wide open
because you schemed it open and then like the opposite,
like well no, no, no, the the the intercept, not
the interception, the and complete passed he threw in the
end zone early. He just didn't release the ball earlier.
And every want to play goes one on one coverage.
The corner just gets beat and you gotta let that
ball go right then and there, and he doesn't. He

(06:49):
likes That's how they called the play to get one
on one coverage on the side. Go back and look
at the plot. If you go back and look at
the replay, he's lined up one on one. The safety
is just playing over the top, and what scheme or anything.
He's the defense they were playing like right now, Look
where the corner is this he's one on one. He's
one on one against he's on defense. Okay, so if
you if you run by him, So if you run

(07:10):
by him, then oh you schemed him open. No, was
one on one and I ran by him in scheme
it opened. Is the reason why their offense is the
way it is because they literally placed different places. They
definitely to place Debo at running back or White receiver,
or Christian McCaffrey or receiver or running back or George
could at fullback, age back or tight end based off

(07:31):
what the defense is doing. So yeah, they ran him
out there. I didn't know all of that. I watched
US San Francisco play, but I'm talking about this one
particular play. It wasn't and nothing scheme, the courting. The
receiver ran by a corner, okay, and he's open. He doesn't,
and I thought I thought he waited because the nervousness.
The point I'm trying to make is that I thought
he was more nervous. And I think any rookie quarterback

(07:53):
that is starting for the first time in the playoffs
as a rookie is gonna be a Look, you don't
think Skyler Thompson is gonna be even though he's got
starts already so raw as the playoffs, it's winner losing
and he's not very good as to play very good,
but I guarantee he's gonna be a little nervous and
it's gonna show early. I just think that that's human nature. Yeah. Well,
that's why Kyle Shanahan called a great game and got
him one on one matchups and had this game up

(08:14):
his matchups to get pretty some easy throws but still
bigger throws. So now when you see him going into
his next playoff game. It's not the first playoff game.
We don't know if we can do this. We don't
know if we if we're gonna be able to throw
the ball from two D fifty yards in a game
because we know that we can. And that's something that
going through with Jimmy Garoppolo in the postseason, I'm not
sure he had the same feeling. Like so I put

(08:35):
it like this. You've seen Kyle in the playoffs a lot.
I've never seen him call the first half of Jimmy
G like that. I've never seen him calling first half
of that type with those type of passing concepts. Putting
the ball at risk for lack of better term. Uh
And obviously Brock Purtty did not put the ball in
harm's way because he delivered. Now, I think that's ultimately
the difference. Didnt trust Jimmy G to put the ball
at risk. It's like it's not gonna be in a

(08:57):
good spot. Like you said, pretty huld onto the ball
and one on one Jimmy might have turned it over,
you know what I'm saying. I think that's just different
than the situation I might have. I mean, we could
sit here with neither one of us, we can, we can,
all right, Well, I'm seeing by I'm seeing brock Purty
have twelve first AF completions that Jimmy Garoppol having seven

(09:18):
for an entire game like that in the postseason, Like, uh,
I don't know whatever? All right, so then what about
the what about the games with Jimmy G had more
than seven comple after we had twelve completions? Like, come on,
what are we doing here? How many? How many games
Jimmy G play? You're telling me, all right, well no,
but you're saying you're pointing out too though, is what
is the point I make it? You pointed out to

(09:39):
where he threw. We had some bad games, but Jimmy
G has also had great playoff games too, and games
where he's had a high completion percentage and throw yards
and one games for you know, for his team. He's
not he's not as bad. I don't think. If Jimmy
G is healthy, that's that's what we're watching right now.
We're not watching brock Purdy. Hell no, if Jimmy G
is healthy, we are watching brock Purty. And that was
earlier today. I don't by that. I don't care if

(10:00):
it was reported all right, Well, I'll tell you what.
Jimmy Dee will be healthy. You'll be sitting there watching
this pretty faced on the slide. So then while those
Brock parties starting before Jimmy, you got hurt them because
he was the third it was a backup. Jimmy was
a team captain. Why he wasn't he starting? He wasn't starting.
Jimmy g wasn't starting, Like, what do you mean? I know?
But if party was wasn't starting, if Brock Party was
going to be that much better and they knew it

(10:22):
by this report than when I'm saying. But I'm not
saying they knew it and there in the off season
because maybe they didn't. Maybe they're trying to trade him
to the rest of the teams in the NFL. I
don't see. I don't buy that. I just disagree. How
are you gonna trade your practice crowd quarterback? Tell me that?
My thing is how you gonna trade your practice squad
parter thing? How do you trade your practice ccawd quarter
You're gonna let me answer? I mean you're asking his

(10:44):
question three times in a row. You're gonna let me answer?
Do you do? Okay, you don't because that's so, there's
your answer. There's your answer. You don't because he's the
quarterback that you've had. There, I don't the dog. Listen,
this whole Jimmy g thing. It's so misconscruted by so
many people that have all these opinions that are not
even in the building. The reason why they ended up
really going with tray Lands is the simple fact that

(11:04):
they rolled the dice with so much of future picks
and so much to get him, so you almost okay.
They It's not like they just were had gun to
their heads and said, oh my god, what are we
gonna do? We you know, we have to have to
do trade all these picks to go get trade Lands, Like,
why did they do it? All right? Are you gonna
let me? Are you gonna let me? Finished? All right?

(11:25):
The reason why you start him trade Lands is because
you you mortgage so much in the future on you.
It's a business decision. You had to You had to
start him. There were people that think, did you think
Trey Lanswers ready to be the starter? Yes, that's why
I picked the fourty niners to win the Super Bowl.
From week one, you thought you thought Trey Lancers ready Okay, Well,
you're in the super minority. You're in a super minority

(11:46):
of people who thought Trade Lance, who was gonna be
able to start, was ready, like was ready to be
a starting quarterback in the NFL for this team, the
San Francisco forty Niners. Absolutely, because I have seen Jimmy
Garoppolo start for this team for the last I don't know,
playoff runs and they're just to the super Bowl. Win
two playoff games on the road last year? Did he

(12:07):
just hold on to get these numbers? Did go to
the boys and do this radio show at the same time?
Pray me? How Jimmy Garoppolo's career stats in the postseason game? Long? Yeah,
go ahead, I don't want to. I don't care about
the stats. I'm just looking at production. I'm looking at
the wins and losses, Like, how do you how do
you measure production? Wins and losses? All right, all right,
you know that's why he's been to a super Bowl? Right?

(12:29):
Has he? Did he? Did he go on the road
and win two playoff games last year? Yes? Or no?
Just yes or no? Where they tender? Where the lease
Jimmy's career playoffs? STA, that's not gonna guarantee you is
the best game that the San Francisco for Then in
the postseason at quarterback sits, Shanahan got there. Okay, gets

(12:50):
a non in a Seattle team in a wild car round.
That's something to brag about. That's something to brag about.
The best day. I'm saying, the best day is the best,
The best is the best. You go, So you got
to the super Bowl? Right? Yes, all right, bet we're
gonna see what's up. I've had this since week one. Well,
we don't know because you didn't write your picks down here. No,
but if you listen to the radio show that we did.
I told you our first radio show I had, and

(13:14):
I don't like to be I don't remember a guy,
but I don't remember. That's fine, But you picking on
the NFC. The nine is the beginning of the year.
Different ways. You want me to say, yes, I don't
believe you. Well, I'll remember. The good thing is it's
all recorded. Yeah it is. You're right, it is. We
can go back there, we can go back and find it.

Martin and VJ coming to you live from the entire

(13:56):
at dot com studios, Fox Sports Radio on a Fox
for Super wild Card Weekend Saturday. And here we are.
The San Francisco forty nine is putting the finishing touches
on the Seattle Seahawks, even though the Seahawks are driving.
Right now, there's three minutes and ten seconds left to
the forty one to seventeen game that Steve just said,

(14:17):
will give you all the facts on and just at
the bottom of the hour coming up soon. But men
VJ were having a spirited discussion because I think it's
evident obvious that this is the best game that we've
seen a forty quarterback play in the Shannahan era. Didn't
in the postseason, didn't say that wasn't true. That's exactly
what you know. We gotta play. We gotta play it

(14:38):
back because that's not you don't listen, that's not what
I said to what was your point? My point? My
point was this this he was nervous because it was
his first playoff game. You went on his tangent about that.
Let you said, what I don't know what I did.
I'll tell you what I did. I told I said,
shout Shanahan. Game. I said Kyle Shanahan called a masterful

(14:59):
game because in the first half of this game, he
called it differently than he's called all his other postseason
games with a rookie quarterback. He came out and threw
the ball more in the first half, which is why
the score of this game was seventeen and six at
half time. In the second half, he started to limit
his quarterback, Christian McCaffrey got way more involved, Deebo Shanvill
got running the ball, even though Christian at the sixty

(15:21):
yard early in the first But that's the reason why
this team is going to go on and go run
because right now, the rookie quarterback, we've seen him have
his lumps in the first half, as Shanahan needed him
to do, and you saw him settle into this game
and that's why at this point in time, this team
is about to win by twenties some points. All right,
we can move on. Man, you're not listening to say no, no, no,

(15:43):
we can go right here, go ahead, right here. I
want you to tell me why Jimmy Garopolo will be
the starter on this team if he didn't get hurt.
I just think he was still be the start because
he was starting to talk. But he is hurt now,
and you told me that right now, Jimmy G came back,
of which there are reports that came back. Okay, Jimmy
G is healthy, though he's working back to be healthy
right now, and his reports saying he will be installed

(16:03):
as parties back up. Okay, man, you seem to have
a problem with that about four and a half minutes ago. No,
I didn't. I just said if he was like I said,
you're not listening, if he never got hurt, he would
be the starter. You said, no, he wouldn't be party
would be like if he and not. My question back
to you was, Okay, if that's the case, then why
didn't they start party when when when lands got Jimmy

(16:25):
G had gotten If Jimmy G had sprained his ankle
instead of breaking his foot and then missed four weeks
instead of ten weeks, and Brock Party had gone four No,
do you think that Jimmy G would have came back
and he started because the answers no, okay, well, well
we don't know, so it's not an answer that either
one of us would be right about my opinions. Yes,
I don't think you lose your job. Part of the
reason why I feel strongly about that is because because

(16:46):
you keeping erupting me hardcore right now. Well, like I
can't even get my point out. Go ahead, no no, no, no, no, no,
hay to interrupt you go go go ahead. I just
think I just I already made my point about Jimmy G. Man.
If I would hate to interrupt you against them, we
have to go ahead nine minutes for a minute. I
don't want to talk about that no more. Man. I

(17:06):
just think Jimmy was still be the starter. That's that's
just my opinion on it, that's all. And you're you,
like Brock Party, you think they're gonna win the super Bowl.
So we'll see what happens with the nine. Is winning
the super Bowl as simple as that. Come on, Move on,
that are, Let's go. I would hate to interrupt you.
I'm so sorry, you know, God forbid, Let's go, because
here's the situation as he stands right now. This is

(17:28):
the best postseason game played by the San Francisco for
the quarterback in the Kyle Shanahan era. I'm not debate
not I'm not debating that. That's the thing. I never
debated it. I never debated that this is the best
quarterback game played in the postseason and the Kyle Shanahan era. Okay,
I'm just saying that if he if that's the case,
then why why wasn't he named the starter when Trey

(17:52):
Lance got hurt? That's the point I'm making And you're
asking me. Okay, So if Jimmy g missed three games
and came back, would he still be the starter? Yes,
I think Shannahan would have implemented him back that he's
the veteran on that team. He's he's one playoff games
for them. You know what you're gonna get out of him.
He's been in those situations before. I don't ever think
you stick with a rookie win the veteran. What was
your reasoning? Go ahead? I'm sorry you see that, man like, look, no, no, no,

(18:19):
come on, man, no, don't slide. I want to pay
the picture and don't slide away from the mike. Man,
don't slide, don't slide from the mic. Man. I just
I just think that Jimmy G will still be the starter. Man,
that's just the bottom line about it, bro, it's Jimmy G.
If Jimmy G don'tly miss like two or three games
and came back, I do think Jimmy G is the starter.
Regardless of how well pretty of play. He's still a rookie.
You still don't know this is an easy game for him. Man,

(18:41):
Let's get real. This is a nine in a Seattle
team there their favorite by ten. You're you're supposed to
blow this game out. You're supposed to win this game
by two three possessions. So I'm not saying that it's
not impressive, but to to say, well, if Jimmy G
was playing, it would be we don't know. Jimmy G
is not playing. All we know is what we see
now that that's fine if you want to say it's
the best quarterback performance in the playoffs and the show

(19:03):
and uh Kyle Shanahan era Okay, but this is also
a wild car round. If he doesn't division around conference championship,
super Bowl, cool, But if you want to hang your
hat on a wild card performance from a rookie quarterback
with the number one rate defense he's playing with, in
the number one ring offense that he's playing with, it
was implemented to the system. Just what four or five
weeks ago? Did did have at it? He's had? It's

(19:25):
been ten it's been ten? Has has it been ten weeks?
Is he not tenants just started? I actually don't. I
actually don't know if he's tenants just started. You got
to tell me that is he tends started? I'm being honest.
I don't. I didn't. I didn't think it's been it's
been ten weeks. Both, it's been over two months now?
Is it like week fourteen? Thank you? He's not. How's
he tending? Know? Jimmy G got hurt backing and Jimmy

(19:47):
G got hurt back in week six? Weeks seven? Nah,
it's like five five games and I'm not crying and
my right, guys, five games, I'm really blinker. And I
don't know where I got the tenant over. Oh, here's
where I got the tenant O from from looking at
you know what the ten game win streak. That's what
I did. You know what it is? They're not they're uh,

(20:09):
they are on the street. They lost the first Onemancaffrey
and since then have gone ten and that that was
where I had my head, my fault, my apology. So
he's I mean, he's you know, been around four or
four or five weeks. He's doing what he's supposed to
do to a team that's getting Also, as I mentioned before,
they're getting guys back down some injuries, getting guys back.
It helps. I'm not knocking rock Party at all, but
to just emphatically, oh, this is the best quarterback game

(20:31):
if you want to hang that on a wild card
game when you're ten point favorites at home against a
team that really backed into the playoffs, they had to
sit and watch. By the way, kudos to you for
taking the lines last week. I took the package. You
took the lines. Smart move. I mean, the Lions had
to pull off what they pulled off for them to
even be in this game. And I just don't I
don't think it's a feather in the cap of oh wow,

(20:52):
this is the greatest quarterback performance we've seen in the
playoffs and then well number okay, like it is objectively
it is so Jimmy G's performance like the year they
went to the super Bowl, those weren't good playoff performances
that got him to the super Bowl? No, no, no,
where was that? Right? Okay? Can I interest you in

(21:14):
eleven for nineteen one one touchdown, one interception to say
of two sacks, Like, no, that's that's a bad game.
That's a backup number. Are you over the next game
where they scored thirty seven points but he was six
for eight for seventy seven yards? Well, wasn't that with
that Jeff Wilson's game. No, but I'm saying, I'm I'm
just asking what that Jeff Wilson. But that's okay, So
that's not just the question, Okay, Jeff Wilson, Why would

(21:39):
you throw when you're running backs running for two handed
and forty something yards? Why would you throw the ball?
That's that? That makes no sense, Martin, That makes no
sense in football To even bring that one up, go
to go to another one. That's like if anybody knows
that in football, if my running back it's running for
two and some change. I'll put it like, why am
I throwing? Will put it like, this is Jimmy Garoppolo's rear.

(22:00):
Anytime he's attempted more than passes in the playoff game,
he's lost. I swear man, you already know who's attempting.
Move better hoping Prey. Anytime you better hoping Prey. Purty
is the guy that you guys stake he is, and
he has bad playoff game. I'm not I'm telling y'all
right now, he has one bad playoff game. I'm not

(22:21):
letting it go. I'm not letting it go if he
goes next week or they gotta go to Philly and
he and he's a dud. I don't want to hear
he's a rookie. I don't want to hear this first time.
I don't hear nothing disappointed. I don't want to hear
none of that because as my home I'm not letting
the all years. We'll start this. My whole point to
start this was Kyle shan and got the rookie nerves

(22:42):
out of his capable quarterback in the first half. And
this should be done now, That's what I'm saying. They
should be done. Now you want to make the point
Seattle starting tackles at rook rookie tackles. Tackles started seventeen games.
The rookie season is over. They should be done with
that now. They should not done with that. Started five games,
four games. And it was his first playoff and you

(23:02):
know when he came on his first playoff game, first
fifteen minutes looked shaking is can be? He looked like
an earthquake out there. You know what he did since
then steadied it in part because of the play calling
by Kyle Shanahan. And he illustrated the same thing with
his play calling and the last three playoff runs with
Jimmy Garoppolo, because anytime he attached the third where's this great?

(23:23):
Where's this greatly? Where's this great? Jimmy Garoppolo so badly
he mortgaged the entire future of his organization with three picks.
It's a Russell Wilson type deal for Trey Lands and
the forty Niners are right here in the playoffs and
when the when the Broncos are the worst team in football,

(23:44):
I wonder what that is that has to do with
the quarterback position. I'm sure so you're telling me that
Kyle Shanahan wanted to get rid. He wanted Garoppolo gone
so bad that he mortgaged the future on Trey Lands,
who he himself sat at a press conference one day
and everybody across the board can see that the guy

(24:05):
was not ready to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.
With the small, teeny dripped sampling that we saw from
Trade Lands in college. You're telling me that Shannahan so
good that he saw a guy that had under ten
starts in college and say, I want to get rid
of the quarterback that took me to a super Bowl,

(24:26):
took me to conference championship games, and actually went on
the road last year, won me two playoff games, had
me up ten and so far, and my secondary decided
to say, well, we're gonna let Cooper Cup run two
post routes and just let Matthew Stafford throw him to football.
That same coach is so smart and saw the future
so well that he's like, yeah, we'll take party in

(24:47):
the third because he's gonna be the guy that's gonna
lead us in the playoffs quarterback. But the reason why,
I mean, you know what, You know what, guys, this
is exactly what you do you trade the number three,
you know, for your first rounder three and your third

(25:07):
round two to keep a guy. That's exactly why you
trade one too, three, four or five. It sounds like, hey, yeah,
it's exactly why you do it to keep a guy.
It's Martin and VJ from the entire rac dot Com studios.
No no, no, no, no, no, no no no. Let
me say something real quick, y'all hear how hype Martin
is about this right now? Like I told you, bro,

(25:28):
like bro, you already know how I I'm trying to
go easy on you. Really no, no no no, let
me finish the sky and talking about I'm trying to
go easy on you. I really am. But you guys
all know as well as I do. You could give
me this. Oh, it's never totally done by this guy. Okay,

(25:48):
I didn't say he didn't play a great game today.
That's not what I said. I said. It wasn't close
to what it. Let me finish, It wasn't close to
what I said. It's not close to what I said.
I'm not talking about Brock party. I simply say it.
He looked more nervous to me earlier. It wasn't it
wasn't that he was doing anything wrong. I didn't say
that anything wrong. I said he looked nervous, but I
expected that human nature. Rookie quarterback, first playoff game at home,

(26:13):
you're trying to really solidify yourself, mommy, dad and girlfriend.
Everybody hugging and kiss his dance. That's all I said
about the guy. But now you're making me go the
route up. Better keep no, no, no, let me finish.
He better keep better. He better keep this up. Are
you I'll tell you, I will be insufferable about the
San Francisco forty Niners and Rock Birdie. You guys know
what I can do it? Are you listeners out there

(26:35):
that listen to me all the platforms I want? You
guys know how I get down. I'm trying to take
it easy and let you just say, Okay, great performance,
all right, bet he'd better. He'd better keep this going.
Not great, not great performance, historically great performance back and
historically great perform in the last six years. Historically great

(26:59):
perform in the last six years. Congratulations, Mr brock Purty.
Better now, I'm said now I'm at the table. He
better keep it going dead, he better keep it going
the minute he don't play well, y'all already know what's coming, man,
what we got next? Whatever you'd like to talk about,
what's right show you know, whatever you'd like to go.

(27:19):
You want to Keck Carroll, come on talking about Pete
Carroll and talk about because they lost this game, where
would you have Pete? Man? Did you see the video?
First of all, did you see the video of him
bootlegging and practice and throwing and throwing past at seventy
one years It was a salute moment for me, man,
because the guy's seven through seventy one years old. I
know seventy one year old people who can't even stand

(27:39):
up straight. And I'm not not gonna trying to make
fun of anybody, but just the youth that this guy
still has in his body. Man. And I was always
out on Pete Carroll because I really hated the way
that he telling and ran out of USC and left
Reggie Bush holding all the evidence. And Reggie was the
one that really got scolded and got punished for, where
Pete Carroll was allowed to come back and put USC

(28:00):
Hall of Fame before Reggie Bush was so. But he
has really won me over probably the last five years
of watching him coach football, and you see older guys
normally get a little grumpy and stuff. Peach just happy.
He's out there rolling out on boot legs and practice
throwing passes. Man, And it really started to made me
look at him and go, you know what, I think
we really have underrated with a great football coach and

(28:24):
a great I think a player's coach of men that
Pete Carroll is that. And that's why I put that
in the rundown because I just I thought I just
thought it was it was a salute moment. And look
what he did with this team again this year. People
were picking them the tank, people were picking him to
finish last. They do back into the playoffs, but they
get there. It's like the Dolphins. They back into the playoffs,
but they get there, and there's no signing him shutting

(28:46):
down and retired, walking away. You got a thirty something
year old Sean McVeigh out here in l A that
was almost ready to walk away. I just want to Carroll, man.
The thing that impresses me about Pete Carroll especially he
is of the tom when the Tomlin bell of check in.
These guys who are again like the general manager of
the coaches. Okay, you have a GM who selects the players,

(29:08):
then you have a guy who manages the coaches. And
I think there's something to the fact that you have.
All Right, just let's look at the same division. Cliff
kings Berry, who is going to be focused on his
offense and let the defense and the special teams. Hey,
I'm gonna hire this former head coach and this former
head coach to run my other And that's but also

(29:29):
part of you know, and that's part in parts, like
if you're gonna focus on one thing about it, But
the thing about it is is I find that these
kind of coaches who are managing other coaches, their floor
is much higher. Okay, maybe there's a top on the ceiling, okay,
but the floor is much higher, and there's a level
of responsibility that goes into coaching each group. Think about

(29:52):
this Seahawks team, alright, to rookie tackles, rookie cornerbacks, rookie
running back. Those guys are gonna have an up and
down year. However, at the end of the day, are
you leaving this season feeling good about what you have? Absolutely?
Same thing in Pittsburgh, and I feel great about the
way you ended this season. You have youthful exuberance. You

(30:15):
may have an answer, but feel greater. But you feel
good about the way this season ended. All right. You
started out terrible, You ended it fighting for a playoffs spot.
You Seattle. You ended the season fighting for a playoffs spot,
ended up getting in the thing. That's the thing and
the testament that we see and as we see all
these coaches coming around this coaching carousel, go think about this.

(30:35):
What is the floor? What is the floor with your guy?
All right, that's the thing that you have to have
care of. You had to put together just say, like
a top ten and fifteen football coaches of all time?
Is he? Does he make that list for you? Oh? No,
I I probably need some more super Bowls there really
not so to make like a top five of all time,
like the top five, top ten to fifteen. But I mean,

(30:58):
are you listening today, Mark listen? You said top five,
top five? Coming up next to Vj's corner, We're going
to break Martin and VJ coming to you live from
Fox Sports Radio, coming to your live from the tire
Act dot Com studios. Coming up next uncle Vj's corner.

(31:19):
All Right, everybody gather around. It's that time of the week.
Oh man, it's that time of the day. I've been
telling you all man. Yes, it's time for everyone's favorite
huncle and you add the cherry on the top. It's
time for Uncle v J's Corner. Yes, sir, Uncle Vj's Corner. Man.

(31:40):
Welcome everybody to another good, quick episode of Uncle Vj's
Corn up. Sitting over there, chilling on the park bench
in the rain, getting drinks out here, and they're like,
but we need to rain. Trust me, everybody's complaining, and
trust me, Los Angeles needs it after the summer and
dryness we just had. Man, I want to start this
week's Uncle Vj's Corner with let you guys know up front,
I'm not giving away an award this week. I'm preparing one, though,

(32:02):
because I saw a story last night that really struck
a different type of happy nerve in me. Quarterback c J.
Stroud from the Ohio State Buck Eyes has not declared
to go to the NFL yet, And the minute I
saw this, I said, you know what, this kid's winning
me already was I was already a fan. I think
he plays for Ohio State. Everybody knows I'm gonna be
Michigan fan. But I saw him in high school out here.
Rancha Cokamaga called one of the college one of his

(32:24):
high school playoff games when he was out here for
Fox Sports West High School Prep Zone. But the fact
that he is not declared tells me he's thinking about
going back to Ohio State next year. And I know
people gonna say, but you can get hurt you go
to the NFL. Now he's gonna be a top traffic
You want to play for the Houston Texans. You want
to play for the Indianapolis coach? Two places that are

(32:45):
you know what show right now with no coaches back back,
Neither one of them have a coach right GM's are fired,
the owners are crazy, the front officers are ridiculous, The
ownership is bad, the situations they're bad. If I'm c J. Stroud,
I don't want to play for neither one of those teams.
So what is c J Strow do? C J Straw
stays cool, calm and collected and doesn't make a rash

(33:05):
decision right Young announced right after the sugar Ball I'm gone,
I'm out of here, and people gonna think I'm weird
for this too. If I'm bright, I come back. The
thrill to run to the NFL guys just isn't is?
Is is tempting as it used to be for a
lot of these quarterbacks coming out of school, especially with
n I L deals and some of these front offices
being so bad and really ruining quarterbacks. The Chicago Bears

(33:29):
have the number one overall pick. They're talking about drafting
a quarterback and you have justin fields. You gotta put
weapons around him. So what are you gonna do? Draft
another quarterback that you don't have weapons for? It makes
no sense. But Mr c J. Stroud, if you ever
hear this, sir, let me tell you something. Man. I
respect that. I respect the fact that you're thinking. You
know what, I want to think a little better for
my season. You got Marvin Harrison Jr. Coming back, You

(33:50):
got Boca. I don't want to mispronounce anybody that I
think it's a book of the other receiver coming back.
You got Henderson's coming back, Like you want to go back?
Don't you want to beat Michigan? Don't you want to
win the Big Ten? At one point lost to Georgia.
A lot of people say, oh, Georgia didn't win that game.
Ohio State lost that game. You don't want to leave
on that sour note, man, and not making a rash

(34:10):
decision really showed me, brother that you got the three
seeds to be of Vanello. Brother. So this week I'm
not giving it a warn away, but I am preparing it.
Mr c J. Strouds, Sir, you are on the clock.
January sixteenth, which is Monday, is the deadline for these
chance to declare. We normally don't see that type of
talent wait till the last minute to declare it is

(34:32):
a real thing. I picked up seventy five Ohio State
fan page followers on Twitter because I cut a video
and tagged him and tagged Ohio State, and they're feeling me.
They're like, yeah, you're right, he should come back. Of course,
there's some people like, no, go to the league. Go
to the league. You don't want to go play for
the Houston Texas. You don't want to go play for
the Indianapolis coach. You want to be Michigan. You want
to win the Big Ten, and you want to try

(34:53):
to write the wrong in the College full playoffs. And
you know what, my man, I respect that. So until
you make a decision. You haven't wonder hard yet. So
this week I would just say, Mr C. J. Strong,
I am preparing of another Brother Award for you of
the Week week week. But what I don't understand, though,

(35:14):
is I get that you can make more money. I mean,
first of all, I don't know if it's true. I
need to have more research on that. It should be
a more informed host. What the numbers are in terms
of n I l verse first round pick. But the
thing that I'm missing is I get the Texans stink
now and and the Colt stink now. But next year
won't the number one team stink then? Too? Like that?

(35:36):
But the front office may not be as as bad.
Martin that those situations right now, dude are horrific. Those
situations are horrific. I know both things that, Uh, the hardball,
it's it's his calls hardball. It's gonna go coach there.
Why would you go deal with that? Why would you
leave the confines of what you got going on right now?
If I don't want to leave Michigan, fine, don't go

(35:58):
to Indianapolis. That place isn't if not for Payton Manning.
I'm old enough to say that, if not for many
that place would never stick on. I want to stick
on your Brother of the Week s Drout because the
things of the things that I'm that I just it
feels like next year the next teams will be bad
as well, and there's still be messed up. There's no
promise the Texans won't be to have the next pick

(36:19):
next year. Yeah, but they're gonna take a quarterback this
year though, so they're not gonna take j next year
or the Bears. But you know what I'm saying, Like
the high picks are gonna be the high picks. I
don't know what. We'll get into more of it at
the top of the hour plus Chargers and the Jaguars.
Martin and VJ Fox Sports Radio on Super Bowl Card weekend.
That's right, Martin and VJ broadcasting live from the ti

(36:40):
rack dot com studios. Ti rack dot Com will help
you get there with an unmaxed selection, fast, free shipping,
free road as a protection, and over ten thousand recommend
that the Star Wars ti iraq dot com is the
way tire buying should be. Martin wie VJ Husky until
ten c m Eastern Time, Super Wild Car Weekend and
play VJ First of all, I hate that name, which
is why call it Supper wild Card Weekend because it's

(37:05):
like super Bowl sounded really really cool in nineteen sixty six.
You know what I'm saying that was, what do you
want to call it? I don't have an answer, but
I don't. I don't have the answer right now. I
just I just don't care for it that But that's
why I kind of make fun of it every time
they say it's superper wild Card Weekend. We have one
game in the books as the forty Niners defeat the
Seattle Seahawks had them pack and we just spent some
time talking about Pete Carroll and the second we'll go

(37:27):
forward talking about the Chargers and the Jaguars. But right now,
as the pregame show with more people than a football
team Sunday night in football in America, they can start.
They can grow Maria. Look, I'm saying they have a
full offensive line skill position set out there pre previewing
this game all eleven. They could fit on the roster

(37:48):
right there with the amount of people that have previewing it.
But I want to your uncle, it was your uncle
Vj's corner Vanilla brother of the week. There we go, preparing, preparing,
Now he ain't want it yet, but it's being prepared.
It's a potential nominee. Yesh. C J. Stroud and I
thought it was something I wanted to bust out. And
they had this conversation for a little bit before we
die back into the NFL. Because c J. Stroud has

(38:08):
not yet announced his future plans, most people assumed the
draft declaration would come whenever the postseason run ended. Well,
that ended in two. We are fourteen days into three
and we are yet to hear if what c J.
Stroud's plans are technically ended at twelve o one, twelve
oh one, alright, it was the first. It was the
first thing to occur. And three a baby was born

(38:32):
and they printed the name and then the first loss,
the first loss in college football and tweet twenty three
belongs to the Ohio State Buck. So of the NFL draft,
c J. Stroud said this to Zach Gilp with CBS
Sports Radio quote, I have a lot more to do,
hopefully before that moment comes. I don't know what I'm
gonna do yet, but I would like to just tell
them you'll get the hardest worker in the building. I
feel like I've yet to hit my ceiling. So much

(38:54):
room to improve, a lot to learn, not from not
only college but also at the next level. But I
think my best ball is ahead of me. I definitely
think my play speaks for a self accuracy jumps off
the charts, and then he goes on to selling himself
in the way that the draft prospect probably should. Oh
my goodness, they're in a pool in Jacksonville. That's just
that pool has well either that has got to be heated.

(39:15):
Woud forty degrees there tonight, but it's still I mean,
that's that's gotta be gross. My my germaphobe, and it
is just anyway, back to c J. Stroud, he has
it to clear for the NFL Draft, which is something
that you know, Michael Vickers told me personally. Had he
had the opportunity to make five hundred thousand dollars at
Virginia Tech, he would have stayed. He would have stayed

(39:35):
in in Blacksburg and not going and been a number
one pick in the draft. He had to get Mama
out of the house that they were in, so he
had to go and earn because he was the earning
ticket right the difference here is c J. Stroud is
the second highest paid football the second highest page college
football player in the n c double age right now
doubling or I mean coming in at about two point

(39:56):
seven million. Now, you know, I've easily c J. Stroud
slated to be a top five pick. Just for record
that the top four picks in the NFL draft last
year all signed for somewhere in the record and somewhere
up at the top five picks signed for over thirty
million dollars in the next over four years. So that's

(40:16):
that's a bit more than three million a year, and
you get the you know, the guarantee as much as
it is of multiple year contracts. If you're c J.
Stroud redshirt sophomore this year, noo, he has two more
years of eligibility left at Ohio State, so you can
come back at junior year and then come back a
senior year. As I talked through this more, I really

(40:39):
kind of think, I think I come into I'm coming
to your side less about the organizations in the NFL,
because I still think the bad teams are gonna have
the first overall pick, and you don't get bad Like
let's think about when's the last time the Seahawks had
a number one overall pick? Talking about Big Carol, Are
the Patriots or the Steelers? Are you know? Generally as
we see this the Texans, it's the Jaguars. We see

(41:02):
about to take on the Charges coming up soon. But
we see generally it's it's a It is a familiar
place around the top five picks in the NFL. So
I don't know about about that, but I would just think,
all right, I have the opportunity to go out junior
year earn and if I get hurt al Blake Corham,
I'll come back as a senior and probably a lot

(41:23):
of the the Even if I'm going up against Caleb
Williams in the draft, I don't what do I care?
All Right, I'll be the seventh pick, even even pick
the ninth pick, the eleven, it doesn't it doesn't matter. Here,
here's my here's my thing with it, and I'm gonna
stick on the team thing with in the NFL because

(41:43):
I think that's a piece of it. The money aspect
of it. It's there now, but I don't think it's
as major as people are making. And we saw this
with John Elway. We saw this with Eli Manny. There's
more information with social media and with people that are
just happy to run their mouth and tell people's business
and owners and and and and billionaires and multimillionaires want

(42:04):
to have their face in their business all out, there's
more information for you to gather about who you're going
to go work for. I I really do hope this
is the turn of sports where instead of the franchise
picking apart a player and you're off the field and
all your so called character issues, I really hope this
is the change where players can now go all it

(42:26):
on your GM such and such and such and such,
your VP of Operations such and such and such stance.
Why do you have a different GM every three to
four years because the GM is gonna hire the head coach.
The head coach is gonna hire an offensive coordinator. That
is a direct reflection to the quarterback. The franchises have
ruined quarterbacks. And I'm and I'm I think C. J.
Stroud could be the kid that starts to turn and go,

(42:48):
you know way, I don't have to leave. Yes, I
am making two point one million dollars. The differences three
something three and some change for some change or what
have you. But if I double that backup plus get
another n I O, they'll pick up some sponsorships. We're
seeing DJ DR DR Pepper commercials. Bright Younger is already
Dr Pepper commercial. That's aside from his n I O deal.
Ladies and gentlemen. That's a sponsorship deal. That's an endorsement sponsorship.

(43:10):
That's an endorsement deal. He's still getting bred off of
that too. So there's a lot of perks out there, man.
And I just think that those are two franchises, the
Texas of the coach I don't want to go to.
But in college, like you said, he's just a wrest
of sophomore, two more years of eligibility, the whole. Oh
what if he gets hurt, got two more years of eligibility,
it would have to be catastrophic, doesn't It was different.
It would literally have to be career ending. Yeah, thank you,

(43:31):
because see whatever season and the injury, he could come back.
You can come back from it. So even if even
if he tores me up, I'll out blake Corum exactly
have an entire at least six games of season. Doesn't
have a six game season to come back or whatever
like medicine is different. You know what I was thinking
this C J. Stroud according to this website Rookie road

(43:52):
dot com. So I don't, I don't know, I know this.
He's driving something super nice. But he was recently promoted
by Sarconi Auto Gallery Kari my poone, my apologies, who
aroarded him with a hunt all of Bentley. And he
also has a two hundred thousand dollar bit. But here's
the deal. If he's in the league, he probably gotta
by the Bentley. He got a boy by the bid

(44:14):
right now. He written it for free. And that's what
these pro athletes do anyway. They don't keep these cars
long anyway. Man, It's just it's it's only until your
teammate pulls up in the next new thing. You guys
remember broke the thirty for thirty were Andre Risen talked
about pulling up in the porch and then the next
day the teammate put up in the porch where you
can do the gearships on the stairwheel. He goes out
the next day and buys the exact same port. So

(44:34):
we've seen these guys do this. That's why I used
it as my vanilla brother. The week of my uncle
Vj's corner, because when I saw this, I thought there
were so many legs to it, and then it was
so interesting that he's a guarantee top five to top
seven pick. If you look at the draft, he's not
sliding past the right early that when you look at
the when you look at what teams this season, I
mean the open taking from the from the Colts, and

(44:57):
then the way that other teams this season manipulated their
draft operations to try to end up around this first
overall pick, Like it was pretty blatant this season how
they were trying to maneuver for arms. Not only that,
something else I want to push back to where people go, well,
the same teams are gonna be bad, guys. We were
seeing teams trade players and trade picks in the NFL

(45:18):
like never before. And we're finding out that teams that
are in the playoffs have a top ten pick. So
it's not gonna be just all nine bad teams. There's
gonna be at least two teams that were five hundred
below firehnder are right on the fire and in the
playoffs that are gonna have a top ten pick. Because
of all these draft pick and trades that we are
now seen. San Francisco gave away a bunch of the

(45:39):
Dolphins ended up inherited a bunch. Think about the Dolphins
had two first round top ten picks and they finished
that five hundred in a buffive run into two previous years.
They weren't supposed to pick there, but because of the
Laramie Tuncil trade, they got those picks back early and
were still a tenant six team and still had the
number five overall pick. So the old count on all
the same teams are gonn to be bad, No, they're not.

(46:01):
People are gonna move, people are gonna be traded. And
then also the last point on this, there is a
huge quarterback carousel coming this year. The likes I don't
think we've ever seen before with some of the names
that I don't think we've ever seen that type of
level before. I know, Tom Brady's old, I get it.
But at the end of the day, when are we
gonna be talking about guys, Where's Tom Brady going? Where
is Aaron Rodgers going? These quarterbacks are gonna be available,

(46:22):
and I just they CJ's camp and him smartly. They're
looking at all of this man and if I'm him,
I stay, I don't come. If you're C. J. Martin
right now going to your head, do you come out
of you stay? I'll probably come out. Okay, I'm staying.
I probably come out. But I say this, it is
a closer decision than it's ever been, and for for

(46:43):
the first time ever in my estimation, there's real there's
real pull to stay besides like things that ultimately do
not matter to the bottom line, as like tradition and
unfinished business and so on, and like you said, and
if you don't have to save the family, that's you
don't have to say to me, because that's what because me,
you want you want me? Okay, hold on, wait a minute, wait,

(47:05):
hold on, wait a minute. I'm living and uh to
a better apartment with six people, and you want me
to stay here. That's different for the love of the game,
because I love this town. But if you're already making too,
thank you, you've already gotten out exactly the other thing too.
It's the difference between you know, you see you see uh.

(47:27):
Geno Smith, for example, a couple of weeks ago, he
was making that the Jets were playing the Seahawks, okay,
and the reporters essentially were giving him every lib, attempting
to try to dunk on the seat of the jets.
And he's like, yo, I'm not gonna do that, Like
I'm not gonna talk about the GM whatever, because they
gave me an opportunity. Now did it work out now,

(47:48):
But I'm not gonna be the one to sit up
here and talk bad about Joe Douglas who drafted me
because he picked me when open when quote unquote nobody
else believed in me right now, piracity of that statement,
you know, you would have found somebody else to believe
in a little bit later, Gino. You know, but I
get I get where you're coming from. Bro. I feel you,
and that's real and that's genuine. So I think now

(48:10):
the difference between that is, hey man, you know I'm
sitting there like, hey man, Michigan took care of me.
Michigan changed my life at eighteen, nineteen years old. I
feel I love maybe a slight level of obligation to stay.
Look at DJ, he could have came out this year,
and I know he transferred and I know things went
south there. But if DJ comes out this year, you
can't tell me DJ is not a top two round pick.

(48:31):
You can't tell me that because has one Here's here's
my thing, though, you guys only need one g M
to think I got there are one head coach at
GM to sit in the room and go, No, I
got him, know to trust me, I can work with him.
That would don't know what the hell he's doing. I
got him. He didn't have Mike Williams. He didn't have
the Clipson receivers that Trevor Lawrence had, Trevior Lawrences had
at Travis nt N, DeShawn Watson at Travis. He didn't

(48:53):
have those guys that year. No, no will take him.
Will would trust me? Somebody would have drafted him in
the top two round is this year because off the
P word potential, the potential, what he can be. But
you wake it, you're making all that, you're making all
that Dr Pepper money. Oh, I'll just transport ridin point
to your point. All right, guys, to me, I think

(49:14):
he's a fourth round pick. You say the second round pick.
But that's the window, right, that's generally what the window
will be if you got your you know type of grade, second,
third round grade. Well, you don't gotta worry about that like,
that's that's that to me is a no brainer with
Dr Pepper round And that's the thing that to your
point I've I've had to take for a long time.

(49:34):
You should abolished the draft, And people are like, oh
what really, uh huh, there's no other there is no
other place in America besides professional sports in which the
most talented people do not there's not a there's not
a bidding where, there's not a bidding for your service,
Like there's there's no other place where like if you're
the best, uh you know, if you're the best sideline reporter.

(49:57):
For example, as I sit here and watch the NBC broadcast,
there's generally bidding for your services, and then you enter
into a contract, and once that contract is up, there's
bidding for your services again. Like music artists, right, you
could pick whether you want to sign with bad Boy,
if you're the best rapper, you could I get what
you say. You could pick if you want to sign
with electra Are bad Boy? Are deaf? Okay? I get you.

(50:18):
When I was when I was at the University of
Mission and I was walking through and I would see
career fairs. They're recruiting us, not the other way around.
It's not the other way. You're You're like, it's not
you know what I'm saying, And don't get me wrong.
You go through your interview process and so on, and
so I hate I hate interview. But you only apply
to places. You only go through the interview process of
which places you apply to where you want to where

(50:39):
you want to be. Yeah, right, so, but like so
in the NFL, the coil it will be. You know,
all right, I'm only gonna interview with the places that
I want to go because there's never gonna be a
place where I end up going with a company X,
because I only want to work for company Y, C
or Z. And if you did, we'd rip you apart,
because we we would sit and go. You should be
you should be your luck, you should be less that

(51:00):
you're you even got to the NFL, and and that
you know what, that's an interesting point. I don't know
about abolishing the draft, but the premise of the way
that you're bringing it up as the simple fact that
these guys get picked apart, they get torn up and down,
you get pulled into a room and it's like, I
don't even really want to play for you. I want
to play in the NFL. I don't want to play,
but this is the process that I have to go through.

(51:22):
That's interesting. I don't know how you do that though,
and abolish the draft, because then everybody can't go to
every team's only fifty three spots. I understand that, but
you know, somehow colleges fill out their rosters. I mean,
that's ultimately what it would end up being. Instead of recruitment,
you would have to build an organization. Kill parody then,
but you kill parody, would yeah, we get better because

(51:44):
then that means because that means that means Jerry Jones
can go get the top quarterback, the top left tackle,
the top linebacker, in the top corner all in one
year because he's got the you know, yeah, if you come,
you afford you could afford it, baby, spend the money

(52:05):
be started to tune into Fox Sports Radios Countdown the
Kickoff presented by Bett MGM on Sunday morning, three hours
before kickoff, that's right. Tune into Sunday morning, ten A M.
Misha and as we take you live all the way
to Kickoff on Fox Sports Radio. The radio app presented
by Bett MGM, Martin and VJ coming to you live
from the ti rack dot Com studios as Trevor Lawrence
do an interception on the first drive of his playoff

(52:27):
career and h Often Eckler creeped on into the end
zone from about twenty yards out to look like Jacksonville
is trailing right now the Chargers seven and nothing. Doug
Peterson's got his play call sheet over his face. He's
very serious. He's over there calling up bubble screens and
handoffs and d shots for Trevor Lawrence. Then his long

(52:48):
haired self can say real quicker, say whatever. I enjoyed
him music. Brother, Thank you very much, the amusing, the mute,
Thank you very much. Welcome to TLC and Janet Jackson
back to back, baby, thank you brother. The reason why
I played TLC because you brought up Andre risen light
house on fire. Put she put all his clothes in

(53:09):
his in the bathroom, in the bathroom hots up and
lit it on fire and it burnt down that partner's mansion.
And you know what mean, Andre Ris is so real.
He sat right on TV on MTV and said, I
still love her. I still love right there, thank you.
That's she, he said, I still love her. That's that's real.
That made me. I was like, you know what, bad
Moon Rising Chris Burn used to call him bad Moon.

(53:29):
Bad Moon Rising is my guy. I used to love
me some Andre Risen when I played high school football.
But anyway, I appreciate the music. Brother, Thank you so
much for that little energy. Played against Andre Risen Jr.
Did you? Yeah? There was nothing nothing, not very in
anything official, you know what I'm saying. But how you
played against That's what I want to be clear because

(53:51):
there's something. You know, there's box scores out there from
when I played against DJ Augustine and he retired me
as Wow, you played against DJ augsty the best waves
in shape up in the three of the NBA. He
retired me as a pro at about fourteen years old.
He gave it to you, man, I mean not just me.
You know he wasn't picky, okay, but this this guy,

(54:12):
this guy, I'll tell you the edited story. This guy
walked in the gym a summer league game, Brother Martin
versus jagu With got him two thousand and four, maybe
oh three. It was in my eighth grade of ninth
grade year. He had a splint or something to shunt
or something on his right hand right, so indeed Augustine
right handed right, So yeah, something where you know his

(54:32):
wrestle was bothering him. This guy in summer league games
eight minute quarters, four quarters, thirty two minutes running clock, okay,
five minute breaks, he had fourty two points. That's more
points than minutes in the game. And like we were good,
Like we wasn't like we weren't no slouts, you know
what I'm saying, Like, like we beat we would go

(54:55):
in to brother Martin and win games. You know we
will beat them. We would go beat room when we
would go beat these other anybody in New Orleans is
the most inside radio out. But DD Augustine from New
Orleans originally transferred to Texas after her and Katraina. Yeah,
he let me know i'd be going pro and something
other than basketball. My only promes the thing we're the same,
we were the same height, we're the same height. News
in a year older than me. So I was like,

(55:16):
if this is the best dude I've ever seen walk
lays him up. And I didn't played against Greg Monroe too,
but like, this is the best dude I've ever seen,
lays him up right here, right now and play this guy,
this guy. If this guy is not a pro, I'm like,
I don't know what's gonna I don't know what the
pro is. I just knew he was the best. You're
close to my nephew's age, Kendall Marshall, because he played
a basketball against Greg Monroe and they played with Greg.

(55:40):
Kendall Marshall played college basketball when I was in college.
I remember watching Michigan State North Carolina. Yeah okay, yea right,
yeah so he he uh. I saw gregor high school.
The only pro ever played against was played against Eddie George.
He went the Fork Union Academy and I was at
Fishburn Military Academy and he was the running back, a
man of my boys. I don't have a one on

(56:01):
one story to tell because football is just you know,
you go out there in May tagl and I played corner,
so I wasn't in the mix of, you know, getting
face to face with Eddie George. But I remember the
whispers of yeah, he's going to Ohio State, He's going
to Ohio State, and I was like, yeah, he looks
like he's going d one. He was huge. That's been
the guys used to wear the short jerseys, I'm not
old when guys used to tuck their jerseys under their
shoulder pads to show their apps. Yeah he had, Yeah,

(56:23):
now I had. Uh. I had some good high school
competition pre Katrina and then actually postcatraining when I moved
to Michigan. Uh. Kaylyn Lucas was on the team in
our district. Kylen Lucas, who know? You know what? You
want to talk about? A cautionary n il tail because
he at five seven? Oh my goodness, Trevor Lawrence is
doing another interception. I'll let Steve Disager tell the rest

(56:45):
and just a second, if he's ready, I'll go to
him right now. It's not his fault. That's not his fault. Though,
I don't want to step on the update with the
game that's currently going on, there's been a big change. Uh,
Steve Disager, are you ready to do trending? I there,
we can go. We had two turnovers first two drives

(57:05):
for the Jacksonville Jaguars at home tonight. We're not even
five minutes into this NFL Wild Card game. The Chargers
have the ball again. They're already up seven nothing on
the road. Early second play from scrimmage, Trevor Lawrence was
intercepted on a ball tipped at the line of scrimmage.
Couple of plays later, Austin Ekeler with a thirteen yard
touchdown run. Here Jacksonville had fourth and seven. Instead of

(57:27):
trying about a fifty yard field goal, they passed and
it was intercepted by Sante Samuel Jr. So Charger ball
around the forty yard line their own seven nothing l
A leads on the road Chargers of Chords. Without wide
receiver Mike Williams, probably for the postseason out with the
back injury test showed a fracture. San Francisco dominated the

(57:48):
second half at home against SEATTLETE three the final. The
Niners have won eleven straight games, including beating Seattle a
couple of times. During that stretch, they went three and
oh head to head with the Sea Hawks, including regular
season Gino Smith two touchdown passes, two turnovers brock Purty advances.
In the postseason, the rookie had four total touchdowns three

(58:09):
hundred thirty two yards passing in the lost DK metcalf
of Seattle ten receptions a hundred thirty six yards. There
are three more Wild Card games on Sunday, including the
one from Minnesota indoors on Fox TV four thirty pm
Eastern time. Tomorrow, the Giants visit the Vikings. There's a
game Monday night Dallas at Tampa Bay, and then quote

(58:29):
Super wild Card weekend will conclude to the NBA. Miami
beat Milwaukee one eleven ninety five. Janis Antennacumpo of the Bucks,
who was out again with a sword knee. Meanwhile, the
Boston Celtics, going for yet another win, are leading eighty
three eighty at the Hornets. It's a late third quarter
right now. A Boston win would be their sixth straight.
It would put him at thirty two and twelve on

(58:51):
the season. College troops Number two Kansas beat number fourteen
Iowa State sixty two, sixty fourth ranked Alabama pounded l
s U one oh sixty six, Kentucky one at number
five Tennessee sixty three fifty six, plenty of upsets. All
these teams lost on the road in the top twenty.
Arizona lost at Oregon, Kansas State lost at TCU, Arkansas

(59:14):
lost at Vanderbilt, Miami lost in overtime at nc State.
Losses also for Wisconsin, for Providence, Missouri and Duke again
in the NFL Playoffs opening minutes of this game at
Jacksonville seven Nothing Chargers with the ball again in the
first quarterback to you, Thanks Steve. Sorry for throwing see
a little bit early. But I'm just watching this football
and it's like he's about to tell you all the

(59:35):
rest of it, and I'll be like, but I don't
know what else to say. I can't stop, and I'm sorry.

(59:56):
quarterbacks making first starts today, I would have not expected
brock Party to have the better one so far. Then
Trevor Lawrence, who has has two interceptions. Now, that second
one looks like it should have been a defensive holding
at the top of the route, but it wasn't. And
now Justin Herbert in his first postseason start, it's got
the ball on his own forty one our thirty nine
yard line, and and the seven point League. I said

(01:00:18):
this maybe about a month ago. We were talking about
just officiating football as ever to tighten this big kid
right here, Gott He's so good. But this has been
one of the worst NFL officiated seasons that I've seen
in the last fifteen to twenty years. And I'm talking
about blatant miscalls, blatant misface masks are passing of fearens

(01:00:38):
are holding where everyone in this stadium can see what
just happened, and the reps that are on the field
that interception right there. You I've seen guys get flag
for way less than now. You and I were just
while I was just mentioning during the update, Sauce Gardner
right corner to Jets made all pro. This is an
eight yard stuff because I'm adult fan. If you put

(01:01:01):
the film on, he's grabby as hell. He is a grabber.
And how do you not throw the flag? But you
watch another corner just put their hand on the receiver
after five yards and just impede their progress just for
a split second, and the flag comes out, so that
that interception, I say all I have to say that
interception is not on Trevor Lawrence. When they come back
from commercial break, Doug Peterson is given the rev the

(01:01:24):
business because to him, it's like, how do you not
see that you're the ref standing right there? How do
you not throw that flag and it causes a turnover.
We'll see what where it goes from here. But Jacksonville
not looking not looking too good. Man. But I thought
last week against Tennessee, that night game that Sunday, and
they gave for them to get in. I thought that
that was you know, you know, you had the the
fumble return for a touchdown that got him into the playoffs.

(01:01:46):
But offensively if they were not good. They and jackson
You and I were both high on them. We talked,
talked them up. I go home, you know how I
do one of the late games. I go home and
I restart the game over. Already know the score, but
I want to hear the game here the commentators. As
I'm watching that game, I'm like, man, we just got
off air talking Trevor Lawrence up and talking his team up.

(01:02:06):
They look putrid on offense, and you're seeing that kind
of again tonight. As the Charges are still driving down
the field, looks like this one, this one, this one,
Martin might be over early to man, I'm not going
there yet. I'm not going there. I'm just looking at
the energy. That's part because you're looking at a robot
play quarterback. I mean he makes and and this is
Emmanuel Lacho's point, and it's a bad point, but I

(01:02:28):
get to understand where he's coming from because Josh and
Herbert makes us the seven yard out just look beautiful.
He really does. He really does. And I'm not trying
to make that as some referendum about him as an
incredible whatever this or that whatever, but he when you
just look at the bar as he comes out, like
it really kind of reminds me of Aaron Rodgers, not
in the delivery and and t Marty or anything like that,

(01:02:49):
and they both have long hair, but just in the
way that when Aaron Rodgers throws the ball, even when
it's like like he misses his guy by seven yards,
his just pretty action and the ball that comes out
it looks like it's a juxtmachine. Shout it out and
it's like, dang, why didn't you catch that? Even though
actually that was a bad throw, So you have to
go back and tell yourself it was a bad throw.

(01:03:11):
Three best just peer passers that I ever saw. One
I had to research because he played before I was born.
But just the three best peer passers I ever saw
in my life, Johnny Unitus, Damn Marino, and John Elway.
As far as guys that can just say hike, take
a three or five step drop and just let it go.
I'm talking pretty never a duck. Do you ever remember

(01:03:34):
seeing John will Away throw a duck? Ever? Like ever?
Did you know Marino? No, Johnny United is gonna put
the tape back off. People. Oh that's the old dude.
I don't care what day it was, Just go put
the tape on. There's coaches to day that will still
put on Johnny Uniteds tapes to show young quarterbacks. John
Ruden was one of them. He used to say he
used to put on John in the United States to
show young quarterbacks. But I agree with you, just Herbert

(01:03:55):
and Aaron Rodgers, guys like Tom Brady to Tom Brady,
I think it has one of the prettiest statue with
type releases because he's tall, he's always upright, he never
kind of ducks or slouches, and when he releases, it
looks the same. Every time I referenced, I compared to
Jordan's jump shot. Michael Jordan's jump shot was the same
every single time. It never changed. All Right, I'll give

(01:04:18):
you a contemporary example. To me, the number one is
Clay Thompson. When you look at Klay Thompson wherever, if
he's if he is shooting a seven foot or fifteen
foot bank shot rather or if he's shooting a forty
ft three Like, the only difference is is his knees
and how long he's trying to jump, how high he's
trying to jump. But when the ball comes out, make

(01:04:38):
or miss, the rotation is there. It's always there. And
like when like I said, Herbert and let's let's be honest,
they got another guy on other side. This to Trevor
Lawrence when he throws the ball to now it's a
little bit more erratic and sometimes he'll miss a guy
wide open, as we saw last week he missed a
Jones in the back of the end. But it's it's
the way the ball comes out, and it's like it's
it's like it's not even rotating. But let's it's poetry.

(01:05:01):
More basket another just Detroit Pistons. Let's go Detroit reference right,
rip Hamilton's. That was another. The shot was the same
the road to every time. Whether it was a three
and they foot a fifteen left right center free thrown,
help didn't matter. It was the same every single time. Well,
you don't talk about the alternate creature of habit. My
man kept the mask on until exactly tired, Like why

(01:05:25):
because I got used to wearing the man. I used
to wearing the mask used to You see, everybody else
called me Lebron and who as soon as they can
take that thing off, they're taking it off, in fact,
taking off Slaman Lebron took it off in the middle
of the game. Lebron took it off, if my memory
serves me correct, because uh yeah, but mass Lebron was
nasty though, and I know everybody knows I'm not a

(01:05:46):
Lebron guy, but mass Lebron because I think he was
pissed because somebody hit him in the face. Mass Lebron
went on like a weak tear of just torching, just
oh my god, destroying guys. There are certain errors in
NBA history where you got guys, you just did things
like mass Lebron or Kobe with a court date called
Kobe with the court. Oh my god, Kobe during the

(01:06:07):
court trial Chief the guy was landing on top of
the stables and the helicopter from Colorado and then coming
in and dropping in game winners. Did we get back
on a helicopter, go to the airport and then have
to go back. Oh yeah, wow, I missed, Mamba. It
was just I was just talking about those types of numbers.
As we watch Cameron Dicker. Dicker the kicker highest percentage

(01:06:27):
makes by a rookie and NFL history with the minimum
of twenty attempts attempt a twenty two yard field goal
to give the Chargers a ten point lead. We'll see
if that is converted. Coming up right here and buckets. Yep,
so right now, Trevor Lawrence, Doug Peterson. They got uh,
they were two and a half onet underdogs to start
this game and just spotted the Chargers ten. You know this,

(01:06:49):
this is not a good spot to be in for
a defense that I mean has been a bad rushing
defense the Chargers. But if you're gonna sit back, then
you know, have to just pass past, past, past past,
you're forced to throw the ball. They got Derwin James
and the defensive backfield and they got Joey bo Say
and Khalil Mac to come up there and mess with

(01:07:10):
Trevor Lawrence. Maybe, just maybe that Saturday undefeated streak may
have not mattered as much as people I saw that entrance.
You speak about the defense nineteenth ranked overall, but you,
like you said, one five on the ground per game
is what they charges defense gives up. But if you
can't run the football being down and you gotta just
drop back and throw. And I'll say this, dude, I'll

(01:07:32):
speak for myself, I won't speak for you. We both
and I think we both were kind of annointing Trevor
Lawrence last week. I'm I thought I thought it was
a little premature once and I was saying he had
had going into that game. I said he had had
his best three games so far of his career and
and that like and it seemed like the floor, like

(01:07:52):
what I said, we had seen what the floor was.
I think that was the floor. Yes, I don't think
he played particularly well last under. I played bad. He
didn't play not particularly well. He he played And like
I said, if it's not if it's not for the
Scooper score, the strips a Scooper score, you have to
think about like this. They would have lost the home
playoff game to a third string quarterback who didn't look

(01:08:13):
well at all himself. I bet the Titans at home,
Yeah you did. You told me you bet. Well, that's
because you were high on guy forgot the quarterback's damn name. Man,
high on Josh Dobbs. I just thought Johsh Dobbs was
that much better than Malik Willis. Like, you told me
that Malik Willis was gonna be in there. I was like,
I don't like the chances one bit. But Josh Dobbs,
I mean, he needs he needs an off season. Malik

(01:08:33):
needs an off season. He needs They didn't um he
didn't play well this year. So I got to own
up to that. That's my guy. I'm still calling Malik
the freak. That's still my guy. Liberty University out of
my home state Virginia, still pull it for you, young man.
But I think he needs to put his head down
this off season. Don't do nothing but quarterback. Don't do nothing, quarterback.
You've got to go watch the documentary on Hulu. God forbid,

(01:08:57):
You've got to do it. Is that the name of
a god forbid? For bit what's it about. It's about
Liberty University. Okay, that's how I'll tell you. But you
gotta watch it. You gotta watch school game at their
at their stadium. Wi His name was mentioned in the
documentary It's on what Hulu. I don't have Hulu man.
I canceled a bunch of I went through, like the
last week or two. I canceled because I'm paying all

(01:09:18):
these streaming UH services and I don't watch all of them.
I'm huge on HBO Max. I love my Prime. I
haven't watched Netflix and maybe four or five months. I'm
on HBO Max heavy right now because they got all
my old TV shows, all black TV shows and Soldier
Hulu I got all the all black sitcoms that I
used to like to watch. I'll watch them joints a lot.
I'll let's use Look, that's okay, that's cool. Coming up next,
we'll step we'll give you a little bit more update

(01:09:41):
on the Jacksonville at Los Angeles Chargers game. But we'll
talk to you right now about how let's let's get
this again. We could talk about how complicated other banks
make it to redeem credit card rewards, or we can
talk about how With Discover, you can redeem your rewards
for cash and any amount at any time. I mean
talk about amazing. Learn more at discover that com slash
redeem awards terms apply. Martin and VJ coming to Alive

(01:10:03):
from the ti rack dot com studios, and I see
what you did there, because v J as a as
the Chargers are driving down the field, tend to nothing.
Justin Herbert, Oh, they're not driving down the field anymore.
Jaguars force a fourth and five, looks like we'll see
a punt from about midfield. Jacksonville trailing tend to nothing. However,

(01:10:24):
that's Lenny Kravitz fly away. Because my your boy, I
should say Cliff Kingsbury. I tell you there's no life
better than the one of a fire NFL coach. Because
Cliff Kingsbury said, you know what, New England, you want
me to your offensive coordinator? I don't look I lost Angeles.
You want to your offensive coordinator? Yeah, you know what.

(01:10:45):
I'm buying a one way ticket to Thailand. I'll catch
you guys when I come back. Don't expect cell service, baby,
I'm out. I love the fact that he bought a
one way ticket is like yo, I'm out. I'm good,
I got my break. What did they still owe him?
Like thirty one million dollars start? Yeah, exactly, like they

(01:11:06):
owe him so much money? Why would you go coach
somewhere else? Right now? I'm gonna take some time. He's
an unmarried maid's a single guy. I don't believe he
has any children out. I've never heard or seen it
or anything. I'd have to research it or look it up.
But hey, I'm out, man, I got I got thirty
to forty million coming to me. That check is still
gonna hit my account. I believe it's still two thousand
and twenty six or twenty seven. Every other Tuesday, his

(01:11:29):
check is going to hit his account, and he doesn't
have to coach a bit of football now, I will
be I will be remiss if I didn't admit I
was wrong on Cliff Kingsbury being an NFL coach. I thought,
because the way the game is modified in the NFL,
the way you can't hit, you can't touch, you can't tackle,
you can't rough guys up anymore, that a more wide
open system with a quarterback like Cola Murray in a

(01:11:51):
receiver like DeAndre Hopkins would be successful in the NFL.
I got that wrong. You're always on the opposite side
of Cliff Kingsbury as far as as far as even
getting the job that he got the ball. But I
try to look at I try, well, you know, we
on type. Only certain type of people are allowed to
fail up in America. Not everybody's allowing your gifted hands.

(01:12:14):
The Ben Carson story, failing upwards, Cliff failing upwards. But um, yeah,
I I missed on that. I thought it would be
able to work in there. They've got a lot even
going on there. Man. Now you're starting to see all
these anonymous quotes about Kyler and stuff. And I hate
anonymous because it means you're a sucker. You you won't
put your name on something. My father always told me,

(01:12:34):
if you ain't gonna put your name on and they
keep your mouth shut, my dad always said that, very
firmly and very strong nut. But with Cliff Kingsbury, he's out, man,
He's heading off the Thailand. He's gonna go out there
and he's some good food and relax and laid by
the water. It's a beautiful country, especially on the ocean
side and the coastline, and it's gorgeous it's I ain't
go to Bangkok and hang out too. Just don't do
none of the stuff you saw and it was the

(01:12:54):
hangover to you. Don't do none of that stuff. But
other than that, I have a good time. According to
bucket list h q dot com, Thailand is known for
stunning beaches, friendly people, elephants, and having yoga like time
massage other things. Thailand is famous for food like pad Thai,
man goes, sticky rice, floating markets, and full moon parties.

(01:13:16):
Full moon party you see see that's the type of stuff.
Klainsbury feels like a full moon party. Guy can do
Cliff Cliff Kingsbury feels like whatever's cracking? And Thailand, come on.
The party's full moon party and all night Beast party
originated at hat Wren on the island of I'm not
even gonna then the island one of the islands, don't.

(01:13:37):
I'm not gonna do it. Come on, man, you got
a master's degreat try I got a master's degree and
not not one word of it was translation to English.
All right, But the party takes place on the night
of before or after every full moon. First of all,
this is something I want to go to. Secondly, if
I was Cliff Kingsbury and I wasn't gonna one way

(01:13:58):
ticket anywhere, but I think Southeast Asian would be it.
Really yeah, man, because like you're because it's real. First
of all, I'm going to South America. Well that's the
same time South America. That's the same time zone. You
know what I'm saying, Like that's still that's still North
American time zone. So like I'm going somewhere. You want
to talking off the grid. I went to Dubai once.
You've never felt more off the grid than when it's

(01:14:20):
twelve pm when you're at it's midnight. Three day flight
to Dubai. That took a dam and you know what
happened when I landed. I had a connection to the IFTIMBUL.
Damn you connected connected to if thembul take out my phone?
Tom Brady retired. Wow. I was like, I was in
the airport and I kid you not, I was an

(01:14:41):
instable airport sad and my girlfriend is looking at me
like what's wrong with you? And I was like, you know, Tom,
just hung them up? Can you tell me something about Dubai?
I have a question. I always want to ask people
that have been to Dubai. This is gonna sound mad haterus,
but it's not. It feels like the most overrated place
for people in America to want to go, because all
I ever see from people are selfies of what the

(01:15:05):
skyline and the the island stands and all that looks like.
No one can never tell me, though, what a great
time they had, and no one can ever say, oh, man,
I was in Dubai and such and such and such
and such and such and such, and it's just always
so yeah, I want to Dubai. In the conversation. Stop,
I'll say what I'm speaking about my experience. Speaking of
my experience, I had food poisoning and was sick for

(01:15:26):
most of the wild it was it was I did
not have a great time. I'll say this about Dubai
in general. It is uh. The part that people are
traveling to mostly has been. It's been created over the
last thirty years or so. Okay, so it's it's very
the equipment in a beach, buddy, let's see in Dubai,

(01:15:49):
it's it's Las Vegas, and this Las Vegas of the
u A United Arab Pyramids is Las Vegas. And where
you have an old Vegas Old Dubai. But you know what,
we have more football coming up after this Martin and VJ.
Fox Sports Radio, Fox Sports Football Saturday. That's right, and
we're broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com studios.

(01:16:10):
Tire rack dot Com will help you get there with
an unmatched collection, fast free shipping, free road, added protection,
and over ten thousand recommended in stallers. Tire rack dot
Com is the way tire buying should be. Now, there's
playoff games on right now. Who at least one playoff
on the horizon. I don't know if Trevor Lawrence knows.

(01:16:30):
Just playoff games happening right now? Is he's at three
first quarter interceptions. Saw a box pop up on the
NBC broadcast he had thrown two first quarter pass attempts
without an interception. Well, they only show that hypographic if
you're throwing multiple in the first quarter, and he's throwing
three so far. Not great, No, not great at all.
And it just looks the energy of the Jacksonville Jagga

(01:16:53):
wires just looks look tharging, It looks the Jacksonville jaquarks,
It looks look thar word to be busted. People's ass
like cliff Kingsbury. Clifford Kingsbury is not easy to say.
If you're gonna say it a bunch of times within
the cover sports conversation, you just start saying, coach wasn't
coach Coach Star Wars character from the Klinsman Like from

(01:17:21):
the from the Klingon, he becomes try and try right
now five three times fast, Coach Kingsbury. I don't do things.
I know. I'm bad at. I don't do things I
know that. You know they just looked argic. Man, we
were talking to a commercial breaking. I'm like, bro, just
look at their body language. And you would have thought
that after the showing they had last week, that Doug

(01:17:42):
Peterson would have got these guys together and said, look,
we gotta come out with more fire. Because of course
this Charger team is a better Times team. I think
we would all agree with that. That's coming into our house.
And they're playing in the playoff game too. And I
heard a got a radio earlier today say that win
or lose in the playoffs, he's firing the charges coach.
So I'll tell you who it was. It was my
buddy from the same light in the studio. That is

(01:18:04):
sure every time we come in here, is there more
of an intimate show or something they do here? Because
I come in have to turn the lights on every
single Saturday. I gotta turn to like, you know my
line too, man, I gotta turn them one because we
set up the camera stuff. We gotta show our sexiness, man, Martin,
and not sexy, so we gotta show you all that, man.
But you know what it is. Honestly, they get in
here probably one or the noon or one the sun
is that the sun is that it is highest, and

(01:18:25):
by the time we get in here, the sun has
just had a very much turned the lights on in
here level. Right. That's because that's what I ends up
happying all the time. I going to work at Fox
in the middle of the night and it's dark in here.
It's like, Yo, what do you people doing? They've been
in there since the sun was up. When I used
to come in here and do the show with Mike
Hill and Kurt Morrison, who used to do a show
here on Sundays. When I first started filling in over here,
they used to have the lights off, like completely off there.

(01:18:48):
I didn't even know they had lights in here until
I filled it on the our couple one night. I
was like, oh, there's lights in here. Wow, there I've
never I've never seen them all before. But Jacksonville, they're
in a lot of trouble. Bro, Can I say this
game is over, you're gonna tell me are still I'm
going to tell you that there's forty five minutes left
of actual game time. It's literally not okay. Yeah, I
think this game. I mean, we've seen turnarounds, but to

(01:19:09):
our point, they're showing the kids in the pool right now,
and I don't you know that's kind of you. I'm sorry.
If you've got a pool in your stadium, I know
a few do. Like you're not a real super Bowl contender,
you know what I made him? I'm sorry. I thought
they were going into the half. That was just the
first That was just the end of the first quarter.
Of my bad. You write this game is not over.
For some reason, I thought it's seventeen nothing going into
the half just now. No, it was just the end

(01:19:30):
of the first quart. No, you're exactly right. This game
is still very and this is where all right, Doug Peterson,
you know people were talking about we had the coaching matchup. Well,
coach us out of this because Superstar Shunshine has three
interceptions and that ain't great. What do you call him?
The superstar Sunshine? Are you calling sunshine because he's guys?
You know, he's white, he's got long hair. Remember the Titans.

(01:19:51):
I mean it's it's low hanging fruit. Okay, after it's
low hanging fruit as he gets sacked again. But we
look like Kenneth Murray. That's just we're not off to
a great start. And actonville here. Maybe the pool is
the best place to be. But VJ, let's let's get
into the next the next game, which one jumps off
to say to you, well, and I won't do low
hanging through here and talk about the my squad and

(01:20:13):
who they play tomorrow. Of the game I think has
the most interest that I'm really amped to watch tomorrow
is the Giants and the Vikings game. And that's because
I have no idea, and I don't think anybody does
what the hell we're gonna get. I really don't. People say, well,
I don't trust Kirk Cousins, but you trust you trust
Daniel Jones. I think we got two quarterbacks here, and
I think Minnesota is a much much different team at home.

(01:20:35):
But I do think we have two quarterbacks here and
and Kirk and and Daniel Jones where we just don't
know what we're gonna get. If I'm Minnesota, though, I
blitzed the hell out of Daniel Jones all day long,
and I and I stacked the box, and I tell him,
Daniel Jones, you gotta beat the blitz and beat me.
I'm not letting say Kwan get off. You're gonna have
to figure out some other kind of way. Now. On

(01:20:55):
the flip side, I think the Giants have the secondary.
I don't think they have the horner, but I think
they have the secondary to make things tough for Justin Jefferson.
We're gonna see really how good Justin Jefferson is in
the post seas because you post to elevate your play
any profitly to tell you that when is the postseason? Man, Baseball, football, basketball,
hockey don't matter. You gotta elevate. So for as great
as you were in a regular season, you have to

(01:21:16):
now elevate that. Man, And you saw that. I think
the line is like it's like a flip game and
it's a pickup. Was it one one and a half time?
It didn't go back up to three at a point
a half for two at one point. The only game
that was real close and dropped to a point I
believe today, especially when we find out Mike Williams was

(01:21:38):
gonna be out. But that's the game tomorrow I'm really
looking at. I don't think there's a lot of you know,
I don't like backups, so I don't think there's a
lot of um drama coming and a lot of theatrical
that we're gonna see between the Ravens and the Bengals
tomorrow night and between the Dolphins and the Bills, because
I don't like backups, and two of those teams I
just named playing with backups. I think the Vikes in
the Giants game tomorrow is gonna be a really good

(01:21:59):
football game. They played earlier this year, and it did
take the Vikings to drive late and kick that, uh
feel going to win that game. So if I'm but
definitely when that was over fifty. But that's the one
that's that's got my attention tomorrow, Like I think the
other two you're playing a third uh what I think
two thirds straight quarterbacks start tomorrow right at the squad guy,
because Huntley's out so yeah, that's the game that's got

(01:22:21):
my that's a different step than backup. If that's the
practice squad guys, a different step than backup third what third, straight,
pactice squad, same thing. No, well there's a lot. There
are no third strings in most most positions in the
NFL most of the time. That's because I used to
ask you from while. I asked him the other day.
I was like, how come everybody didn't have a good
backup quarterback? Like theoretically right, Like, how come you know

(01:22:43):
what I'm saying, Why didn't everybody have a guy they
feel good about that backup? And he's like, man, most
places don't have backup positions in general. It was like
both like, who's your backup left guard? You don't have
a backup left guard? You have a backup offensive lineman
that can play, that can play, or you can play
right guard, or you have a backup right a goin
tackle right, uh, something along those lines, or you you

(01:23:03):
you have your right guard kick out the left guard
and you keep your tight ending and like, you know,
it's NFL is a game of figure it out, you know,
in terms of the tradtion. Now to the point of
the Giants and the Vike using game. You're right, I
don't trust anither one of these quarterbacks for it. And
I can throw him, and I can't throw very far
much less of human. So that barely throw a football

(01:23:24):
so much less of human. So let's keep that in perspective.
But now the thing here, I'm trusting Brian day Ball
to not let what he has gotten. He's had so
much success this season minimizing Daniel Jones. And I don't
mean that offensively. I know it may sound as such,
but the thing that he's done is he's found what

(01:23:46):
he's done good and continues to do that. I think
it's a novel idea. I personally don't like to do
things I'm not good at. Right, But you know, you know,
Joe judging him had Daniels dropping back throwing the ball
thirty times good luck. All right, you know that's that's
not the way. That's not the strategy for winning football.
If Daniel Jonan is gonna be your quarterback in that
type of scenario. I like the combination of jon Quon

(01:24:08):
on this Minnesota defense and be able to run the ball.
And the thing I really like about it. As we
watched number one overall pick trade. Oh, I'm sorry. I
was watched Josh Allen, the defensive end. Josh Allen, former
first round pick for the Jaguars, sack Justin Herbert on
first down. They're gonna huddle up and figure it out
left in the second quarter. I think that the Vikings offense. Okay,

(01:24:30):
I know this is a big, big Justin Jefferson moment,
as he was one of the people that was brought
up into the m v P conversation that kind of
goes on all year at this point and so on.
This game, to me, and this postseason, to me, is
why you make the T j Akins in trade Because
here's the thing. You know, if you're the Vikings, you

(01:24:51):
know that Justin Jefferson is consistently beating double coverage at
this point, at this point in his career, right and
the think Adam Dealen is is the guy on the
other side single and he's not winning, right. T. J.
Hockenson is the guy who's got to win and be
open when when Jefferson is not in this game. That's

(01:25:12):
why you make the move for Hockinson to to first
sifire your offense. Now, I just wonder as your point
earlier Jordan's I mean it was Julian Love and and
and some of those back and and in the back
defensive backfield. Him coming back. Davian McKinney hurt himself in
the bye week on an a TV. He's fully healthy
now and coming back into the into the Giants defensive lineup.

(01:25:33):
I like the double. I like the double on Jefferson.
I wonder how the singles on the other side will work. However,
I think that Wink Cuban Link Wink Martindale is gonna
bring the chain back out, because you saw he was
busting that chain out earlier in the year. He had
the Cuban links if you know, you know, Okay, and
uh he out there. He was out there blitzing like

(01:25:57):
somebody who has some Cuban link chain. So he was
just sending them boys to the house. I expect him
to send them again. Will Blackman told me a story
he told me to him on a podcast. I'll tell
it on the radio. He was playing with Kirk in Washington, Okay.
He said he sat down and they were getting ready
for lunch prior to a four game Kirk said. He said,

(01:26:18):
Kirk under his breath set to him, Man, I love
playing at one o'clock. I'm not. I kid you not.
It's on the Limon Pepper Parlay podcast on the money
grab feed tweet Man, I'll send it out if you
have any curiosity about whether that conversation actually happened or not.
But will Blackman all blast. He's a big boy, he
told me. But it's just I can't get it out
of my head. I can't get that out of my head.
And I you know it was obviously I'm taking I'm

(01:26:41):
one the Giants. Mean, I think the Giants. I think
the Giants are the upset here. I had my upsets
of the weekend being the Giants and the Cowboys. Looks
like the Chargers are driving right now, seventeen points and
he just, I mean, he just converts first down after
first down after first down as the Chargers move into
the red zone with the seventeen point lead a fifty
left in the second quarter. It's getting later early, fellas, Listen,

(01:27:03):
this is what happens in football too, And this is
why I love this sport and why I fancy myself
as as like this is my thing, like football. I
love sports, and I know supports, but football I will
argue down to debate with anybody about football at any level.
When you start losing like this and your energy is
already down, it's not basketball basketball. What did they say?
A shooter needs to what when he's off, He just

(01:27:24):
needs to see what. He just needs to see the
ball go through the who. You would much rather like
a shooter goes one for seven. You're mad at him
because you're a quitting go for one exactly exactly, But
but what do your commentation to say? He just he
he needs to get to the line and just see
the ball go through the who. And a lot of
times that works, and then get a shooter going. And football,

(01:27:46):
if you're missing tackles and you're missing coverage and you're
not covering guys, and your quarterback throwing interceptions, a completion
is not gonna take those three interceptions away. For Trevor Lawrence,
the play where he got sacked on last drive, you
can see he's got happy feet. When the corners get
happy feet and what we call burping the baby, which
means they're in the pocket and they're patting that. They're

(01:28:07):
patting that football, pat pat pat, They're burping the baby. Dude,
you can't turn that around in one game. That's why
if they score right here and make it twenty four nothing,
I will say game over because you can't change you
can't change what's happening and what in the momentum that
is already going to game. Football is so different, and
you're watching the Chargers just kind of get anything. Even

(01:28:28):
to Herbert almost throws an interception, doesn't check the safety
right there, the corners b or the linebacker slot look
like a slot safety slot corners be. He doesn't check
the card the linebacker, the safety and the lotbacker drops back.
He never sees them and he but he never But
I still think, you know, look, he doesn't see him
to throw that ball where that ball was going. He

(01:28:49):
doesn't see him corner. I would love the safety to
make that pick right there. But back to the body
language of the Jags, you just don't. You can't recover
from this. It's not like baseball when the hinters in
the slum. He just needs to get contact. He just
needs to get the bat on the ball and go
from there. And football, when you're in a slump and
and momentum is not on your side, ladies and gentlemen, boys,
and girls, it's really hard to turn it on. It

(01:29:10):
just it doesn't work in football. And I think we're
watching that unfold in front of our eyes right here.
Twenty to nothing. I think you got a shot third
down coming up here, Martin. I'm telling you, man, they
stuffed this in twenty four nothing, bro seven minute market
in the second quarterback Charges have been moving backwards since
they got into the red zone. And he started that
so little que with a fall start on the first play,
in complete pass on second down near, I'm sorry, complete,

(01:29:33):
has a first down near, interception on second down, and
then a screen on third down. Oh sorry, I'm doing
my downs all messed up. You know what. I'm not
a play by play guys. It's starting goal for the
Charges right now to see if Joshin Herbert scores this
touchdown Darald ever looks like that's gonna be down to
nothing on I'll tell you what that started started out
with at the fall start, incomplete pass, incomplete pass and

(01:29:54):
then like for that to go that way, that's a
tough one, and then the screen pass and that was
the thing I'm missing, that nothing left in a second.
That's ugly. Eleven play drive sixty two yards and just
watch this play right here. This is Look at the
time he has He's not rushing like Trevor Lawrence's watch,
He's waiting. He knows what he wants. He's just waiting
for him. The clap boom right there. The linebackers three

(01:30:16):
yards like you can't in the red inside the ten.
A linebacker can't be three yards off of a tight
end on a crossing rock. Guys like, come on, but
once again, when you are down and momentums on your side,
and you started look thargic, you look clazy, you look
off and football there's no such thing as turning it
the switch on you to have it on when you start?

(01:30:38):
Are you don't? Man? And now can now? Can I
say it's over? I'm not done yet. I'm not done yet.
I'm not done. I got you are talking about you
me though, I'm gonna saying America Jaguars and charges games.
There's still too there's still halfway of the second quarters,
left points and nothing. I'll tell you this. You bet
that Jaguars on the money line right now. Also bet
Sean Payton to be the next coach in Los Angeles. Charges.

(01:31:00):
While you're sitting there right there right in your sports book.
Go ahead and do it all at the same time,
because that is exactly what's gonna go down. We'll previews
on more Super wild Card Weekend coming up next. Also
more Chargers and Jaguars if it becomes worth talking about,
coming up next as well. Fox Sports Radio Martin and VJ.
Martin wis v J Hussey coming to you live from
the tire rack dot Com studios and VJ. This is

(01:31:25):
what I'm switching. I'm switching the conversation. You know this
is We're in a special moment right now. Okay, we
have to let me have to take this for what
it is, all right, I'm standing as a game being played. However,
there's a record at stake. We're on the reception. Watch
Brett Farve somewhere probably winning his court date is somewhere
watching this game, like, oh my goodness, come on, Trevor,

(01:31:46):
give me another The record six by Bobby Lane, Norm
Ran Brocklin, Bobby Lane. I bet that record was for
the Detroit Lions. Bobby Lane, Norm Bran Brocklin, and and
and and Brett Farve, the first the three order backs
to have thrown six interceptions in the first half Trevor
Lawrence has four sante Samuel Junior, he's got three. He's

(01:32:09):
got more receptions than any Jacksonville receiver does. Right now,
we're sitting here. We need Justin Harpert to go three
and out right now. Get the ball back to Trevor.
Get the ball back to Trevor. No, man, when you
know no, listen, I'm like over or not. We can
see a chance in history. Six first half interceptions. He
won't throw six because if it well now and now adistic,

(01:32:31):
the Chargers keep driving the ball. I'm telling you right now, man,
if I'm Doug Peterson, I've bench Trevor Lawrence. Yeah, why
are you? Why are you still in there? Four interceptions
in the first half. You guys are gonna tell me
anybody in the studio right now that can hear me.
Right now, you're telling me you're keeping him. He looks bad, guys,
he doesn't have it. I'm gonna let him get the

(01:32:55):
next the next six fifties. I'm letting the finish the
half now, I'm letting it finished to have this man,
because going into the half, your team yes you can't.
Yes see this, that's like, yes you can, Yes the
hell you can't You got four interceptions, another bad pass too,
and the matrix it's like when not like this? Yeah,

(01:33:20):
it was like that. The first one was the only
good one. I saw the other two, but they just
weren't as good as the first one. But he's throwing
into double coverage. Guys like, he doesn't have it. This
team is off. They've looked off since this game is started.
They do not have it, man, and I bench him.
I bitch him right now, going before the half, because
going into the locker room, you want your team to know, Okay,

(01:33:41):
we've made a change. This is where the coaches. But
now you're gonna be walking into the room like, I
wonder what he's going to say. Well, the one thing
we know he won't say is Trevor Laurence gonna be
the quarterback in the second half. Because I just benched
him at the six something mark because he's just threw
his fourth interception in a home playoff game. You gotta
put him down. Man, This is a learning lesson, it
really is. It's the first playoff for parents ever. It's

(01:34:03):
a learning lesson. He'll be better. I don't think Trevor
Lawrence is bad or a bus three he's having a
bad he's no, hell no, I can't. I listen. I'm
not angry with the with the with the suggestion. I understand.
I get it, I really truly do. But this is

(01:34:24):
deeper than this. This game man like when his game
is over. Well, that's so, but that's so. What if
the game's over, then I definitely am not gonna bench him. Okay,
So then I'll spit it from this way. Then I'll
spit it from a parent angle. Then as a parent
that I am. Sometimes you have to save your child
for themselves, and sometimes you have to send a message
to your child. The message to my kid right now

(01:34:47):
is you see how hard to you see how hard
to playoffs are? See you're not ready. You're not ready.
You're not ready. So because you know what, I'm not
gonna take my away from my kid the opportunity to
be great. Put the to put the train and put
the wheels. I just the other night, a very proud,
damn moment. I put my son's first tricycle together. The
other night that Santa Claus brought him for Christmas, I

(01:35:08):
brought my put my son's tried to go together. My
son fell off of it. The first two times he
sat on it because he's not used to sitting upright,
because he had a big will. Big will has it
back he can lean back. He can't lean back. It
got to a point where I pulled my son off
the tricycle, said all right, buddy, no more tonight. You're
gonna crack your head on the ground this as they left,
and he cried. He wanted to try to get back on. No, no, no, no, no.

(01:35:29):
Listen to dad, right now, I know what the hell
I'm doing. Sit down. You're not ready for this. When
you got it the tri cycles there, you're still a cart,
you're still have started quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, moving forward.
But right now you're falling off the tricycle. Have a seat.
Let's watch some Douglas, watch some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and
get ready for bed. That's enough tonight. Set him down,

(01:35:51):
save him from getting her. Now he go out here
and get blasted one of these plays. Now will all
be screaming speaking to the world's Oh my god, what
are they doing? My goodness? Just listen, listen. I tell
you what we may never get to see. Trevor Lawrence
back in the second half or not first half or
that because uh, the Chargers puncher, God bless him, I

(01:36:11):
don't remember his name right now, punch the ball. It's
and is a special teams in aptitude of of a
of a gross negligence. The charges. Now, after after charges
forced the three and out, they were punting from their
own I don't know forty nine or so. And then oh,
the ball hits one of the runners. The ball hits
one of the uh the people defending the gunner on

(01:36:33):
his head. Oh my god, what oh what a disaster,
what a disaster. Knew can't recover the fumble. Uh, now
it's gonna be the Chargers ball. This is this, I
tell you what, man, Listen, I know what you're talking about.
I hear what you're saying. If the Chargers somehow don
score this alright, So Michael Lombardi says this all the time.

(01:36:56):
I'm a fan of his. I listened to him. He said, like,
when you see a jump score like it's early score
like this, what do you predict the end score of
the game to be right? Or we see it like
I look, charges on the goal, I mean in the
red line, in the red zone right now, trying to
punch it in, because so by the time we get
it back, it will either be a thirty one point game,

(01:37:17):
twenty seven point game, or a twenty four point game.
What do you predict the end of this game score
to be right now, VJET one to ten, one to ten.
That's that's what I'm curious. I have a trouble just
completely fold and just completely melt down. But it's been
and it's higher and complete meltdown. As Steve di Seger

(01:37:39):
will tell us right now, Steve, what's going on in
this game and everywhere else's sports, that's a legitimate question.
What is going on in this game? The Chargers are
leading twenty for nothing at Jacksonville with four and a
half minutes to go. In the first half, Trevor Lawrence
has completed four passes to his own team and four
to the opposition. He's four of sixteen, just thirty yards

(01:38:00):
passing in the first half and four interceptions thrown, three
in the first quarter. According to a p in the
last thirty plus years of the postseason, only two guys
have turned it over four times in the first half
of a playoff game. That was Brian Hoyer and Dan Marino.
I assumed that was the blowout about twenty years ago
against the Jaguars, but you had to the reference to

(01:38:24):
Brett Farve that he once had a six interception postseason game.
I looked at the list. Next on the list, there's
some guys that have had five picks in a playoff game,
and that includes Dan Fouts of the Chargers amazingly ninety
nine and three. But in between that he had the
classic playoff win in the state of Florida where the

(01:38:44):
Chargers against the Dolphins early eighties, who were up twenty
four nothing after the first quarter. This is now twenty
seven nothing Chargers as they've just added their second short
field goal of the first half about four and a
half minutes ago till the halftime break twenty seven nothing.
By the way, that Charger Dolphin playoff from decades ago
a classic because despite the nothing lead, Dolphins came back

(01:39:07):
and tied at Chargers wanted in overtime. Earlier, San Francisco
won it's eleventh straight game, eliminating Seattle forty one to
twenty three. Brock Purty with four total touchdowns. Christian McCaffrey
on fifteen carries had a hundred nineteen yards rushing and
one t D reception San Francisco with over five hundred
yards of offense. Sunday three wild Card games, including the

(01:39:29):
contest Indoors at Minnesota on Fox TV four thirty pm
Eastern Time. Tomorrow, Giants against the Vikings. There's a game
Monday night with Dallas at Tampa Bay. As for the NBA,
Boston has won its six straight game, one twenty two
to one oh six at Charlotte Jayson Tatum with thirty
three points. And there's college basketball on Fox TV. Colorado
is leading at number seven rank u c l A

(01:39:51):
with under twelve minutes to go, thirty nine thirty three
Buffaloes in the lead and thirteen minutes left. Texas Tech
is leading at number ten. Texas Oregon beat number nine
Arizona Kentucky with a win at number five Tennessee. Updating
the NFL playoffs, Chargers up twenty seven nothing, Jaguars with

(01:40:13):
just three first downs in the first half. Chargers with
three touchdowns. Back to you, thanks Steve Martin and VJ.
Coming to the Alive from the entire ract dot Com Studios. VJ.
I'll tell you what here right now. I think that
this is a three point game by the end of it.
But the end of the game, you gonna put wings on.

(01:40:34):
What's your spread? All right? Give me give me six,
give you six? What six points? As I said, I
think it's a three point game by the end, I said,
all right, give me, give me a six point game
on either side, and I'm big, Oh yeah, okay, I'll
take that. All that all right. I have a feeling
in this game it's gonna tighten up. Steve said it

(01:40:55):
just a second ago. Three touchdowns in the first half.
If the Chargers left fourteen points on the board, like
the Charges left four two points of the war, if
Jacksonville wakes up any modicum of anything offensively, I think
that they will be able to come and move the
ball and like and I think they'll be able to
at least Jacksonville defensively. I should say, I'm not sure
about the Charge's ability to move the ball, as they

(01:41:15):
haven't punched it in on to give me, this score
right now should be thirty five to nothing, and it's not.
And that's giving the fact that it's the twenty four
point or twenty seven point game. At the end of
this I feel like the defense is walking out feeling
good in the offense, got to say we can only
get better. That's part of the reason why I wouldn't
bench Trevor Lawrence. We could keep talking about this and
move on whatever game jumps out to you for the
rest of the slave. Well, I'll just I'll just finish

(01:41:37):
up on that. No, I think you've been Trevor Lawrence.
Just I just think it's a safe, smart thing to do.
He's taking a pounds, taking a beating. Your team is
not ready to play. You got a guy blocking the
gunner who's not listening. Anybody that played football knows that
you have to listen for the returner who was yelling fire, firecracker. Nuclear.
When I played for one football team, the work was nuclear,
lucle or nuclear. That means get out of the way.

(01:41:59):
You're in the line of the punt, you know, coming
down nuclear three Cyla war. We were very smart football players.
Nuclear nuclear, nuclear. It's easy. It's easy, trust me, because
nobody ever uses it like people use fire all time
in football. Nobody uses nucleus. And when you heard that,
you knew whatever is going on. Get your head on
the swivel, look around. The ball is near you, and

(01:42:20):
it's not supposed to be near you, so get out
of their four sixteen thirty yards no touchdowns. He's been
sacking starting the double covers four interceptions like no, you
sent them down. Man, I just think that this this
game is a wrap. But I said from the beginning,
like the second possession, just the body language I did
not like. They look look dargic, they look lazy, they
look like, Okay, we got here. It looks like TCU

(01:42:42):
Monday night, like you and I were talking during a break.
I just thought, I know there's a talent differential. I
get all that, but a lot of that TCU Georgia game, guys,
it really did look like TCU was happy to be
in Michigan and being a national championship. They did not
show up. And the coach even said it. When your
coach says, listen, we're listen. The other team is good.
We get it, but we are making tons of that.
We are not playing well. We're making them look better

(01:43:04):
and making ourselves look worse. When coaches speak like that, guys,
they know that their team is not prepared to play
Jacksonville is not prepared to play on the flip side
of a game to touch and go to man Monday night.
I have a lot of interests in this game too,
because once again, once again, what are we gonna get
from Thomas Brady and Dak Prescott. I have no idea

(01:43:26):
who's gonna win this game? I have no idea. How
did I know I'm gonna predict the win? But what
are we gonna get out of these two offenses that
sometimes look great? And then sometimes you're scratching your head,
like like Dallas last week? What was that? Dude? What
was that against? Watching as Uhton trying to win from
one one for the Gipper. I I don't have to

(01:43:48):
I playing for their coach. Play. Yeah, I don't say
they fired the coordinators, so they're not firing him. I
don't know. I don't know. Jacksonville with the fourth and
two or three fifteen, three eighteen left, or they're gonna
pump the ball here? You why? Why not? Yeah? Man,
don't don't not pick up the two and then give
them the ball back in the red zone again, I
would have continued this drive. Look how Trevor looks look

(01:44:10):
at that that it was a terrible throw. Anyway, he's
off an say here's the here's no one else can
see it but us. So I'm gonna talk about the
Cowboys in the box. So the thing about the thing
about Doc in this situation, he really right now Jalen
Hursts notwithstanding, because he's gonna be playing hurt he should

(01:44:31):
be right now, the best quarterback on the NFC side.
He should be, should be, He should be, should be.
Then this is an opportunity to go out there and
shut everybody up. Who was said, you're just Kirk Cousins
with more TV commercials. Right, Like when you think of
when when the Cowboys paid that that money, it's the idea.
It's like, Yo, you're gonna be the guy who's gonna

(01:44:53):
be leading us, throwing over to seventy five game, throwing
two to three touchdowns a game, and more important only
being like the guy who's keeping everybody in line and
keeping everybody together. Now I'm I'm like, I think the
second party's done well. I think he's acquitted himself well
as quote unquote the leader of the team. He always
says the right things. He's the type of guy he

(01:45:15):
looks like he's going through he's prepared. He looks the
party doesn't He does his work. However, the Cowboys have
lost in playoffs that for the slide against San Francisco.
You go down a little bit earlier. It's an entirely
different conversation when you get that field well attempt off right.
There's certain times and if you're a dock detractor, you
can point to and be like, this is this is uh,

(01:45:37):
this is what they're talking about. He's got an opportunity
here to go out and win a game over the
greatest quarterback of all time, admittedly not playing at that level,
but not playing poorly, just not playing as the greatest
quarterback of all time, and his team not the greatest
team of all time by any stretch of the imagination.

(01:45:57):
When I look, this is a great chance for Dac. See.
My thing with Doak is the fifty fifty on the guy,
and I always have been I don't like or dislike
him as much as everybody else. Does you either really
like Dak? Are you hate Dad? I've always looked at
Dak has said he is what he is. He's a
fourth round quarterback pick out of Mississippi State that we
all saw in college that was that was good, right,
But there's a reason why you were a fourth round pick.

(01:46:18):
And I thought having a good offensive line, the big
vicious offense, a line of being able to handle all
the zeke with was was enough to get him going,
was enough to get him going in his career. And
it did. But like you said, we pay you this
money for January. We don't pay you this money for
September through December. We pay you this money for January.
This is a perfect opportunity for Dad to make a

(01:46:40):
run and kind of shut a lot up at least
for the next twenty four months. They win Monday Night
and they say that the Santa Cowboys gets to the
NFC championship game. I think all the DAK people gotta
take a seat and shut up for at least a year. Yeah,
you gotta sit. He gets to the conference, he gets
to a conference championship game, like you throwing for two

(01:47:01):
fifty to even even a three yard game in there.
But if we get the two d and ten yard
dock with a touchdown and two pigs are a fumble
in the pick, and it's going to be hell this offseason.
They're gonna forget all about McCarthy, which Jerry Jones has
come out and said, win or lose, guys, I'm not
fired him and McCarthy as I said, but a few

(01:47:22):
weeks ago. I mean, Jerry Jones, He's got more patients
than any owner I've ever seen. When it comes to
head coach, He'll keep you forever. But I agree with you,
man that can shut a lot of people up. I
just don't think he will. Martin, I think I think
I think that he will. I'm going I'm I picked
the Cowboys and I'll get to more of our picks.
Justin Herbert just fumble the hand off to Michael to
Bandy's I think his name is Michael Bandy, but number

(01:47:45):
eighty three for the Chargers, who did not have any
interest in taking the hand on at all from Justin Herbert.
He actually shied away as if he was like to uh.
And then the fumble on third down recovered by Bandy
or Ekeler. I'm not exactly sure. The Chargers to be precise,
fourth down as a two minute warning, they're good an
opportunity to go ahead and to Jaguars to try to

(01:48:05):
tighten the score up before the end of the first half.
And we'll be back with that and more picks for
the Super wild Card weekend on Martin and VJ Fox
Sports Radio Martin and VJ coming to you live from
the tire rack dot Com studios. That Jacksonville Jaguars first
half hanging on by a whisper thirty two seconds left
first and ten. They're right outside the Red Joe and

(01:48:28):
are punching into it, trying to make this score a
little bit more respectable. Going in a halftime for you
right now? You know that, right, I don't I don't
know what. I don't know what, Johnny, I'm sorry, turned
out turn out? Yeah, yeah, a little Nita Baker, Martina
Baker right there, dude, we were just talking. I would
have never pegged you. My respect musically for you went up. Brother,

(01:48:49):
just keeps going higher and high high every time we
work together. You're great with the music though, Man, Like, seriously,
this is wow. You just made me think about my mom. Man,
I missed my mom. So but you want to do
pictsu here, you want like what it was supposed to do. Well,
we got the dinner picks coming, but I mean I
know what. I'll be ready to do them. We can
we are we good to go? All right? Uh so

(01:49:11):
the four games, I know I'm just trying to you know,
I'm just trying to figure out what's going on here. Uh,
some of the Jacksonville Jaguars down for not quite four
scores four touchdowns. I'll say this, how many ways you
get to the twenty seven in football? I don't know
quite a few. There's quite a few. Four touchdowns would
be the easiest way. Well, the Jacksonville Jaguars just scored
one touchdown, so that's the closest way to start. You

(01:49:32):
can't get four without one, VJ. You gotta get one first,
then two, then three, then four, and that is the
first step. Will be a long road to recovery for
for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now I signed for the Progressive
Player of the Day, brought to you by Progressive Insurance.
Progressive makes bundling easy and affordable. Get a multi policy

(01:49:54):

Com already gonna throwback metal wide. Don't Deebo Samuel down
the Sideline fifty forty table dirty Tabot Dabo ted Tabo
touch down, said Francisco. Thank you to can br and

(01:50:19):
the San Francisco forty nine is radio Network. That was
one of a historic performance by Brock Party, wasn't it. Yep,
we haven't seen that, but only a few people. We'll
see if you can keep it up next week. But
now let's see how VJ and I do on the
pics for coming up on Sunday Monday. And I guess
this game right here, You're gonna hate me if Party
doesn't keep this up. I'm gonna promise you that you're
gonna hate me. All right, let's look, so first game

(01:50:40):
on the board, you got the Ravens and the Bengals.
Think the Bengals are nine and point favorite. Looking at
Anthony Brown, do you think do you think the Ravens
will be able to keep this up? Keep it close?
N They just played week eighteen. Now they look like
a franchise that's in flux. Right now, when you watch Horrorball,
have the press conference and talk about uh well, not
talk about move away from talking about Lamar Jackson man

(01:51:03):
the quarterback. I just think that you're you're starting the
third fourth guy, practice squad guy. You and I were
talking about the Bengals last week. We like the way
the Bengals look. We think the Bengals are rolling right
now would not surprise me if this is like a
two touchdown game for the Bengals the wrong Knight Brothers.
So give me the bank, give me the Benger. What's
the line on this, this is a nine point line.
Give me I'm also taking the Bengals in the nine.

(01:51:25):
I'm thinking, look the Baltimore Ravens, they messed this thing up,
you know when they did at VJ September one, when
Lamar Jackson was still on that sign to a long
term deal, Like this is, this is, and this is
the reep they will show. John Harper is gonna have
to get you into the playoffs, but I don't think
he'll be able to get enough to be able to
even come close to winning this one. The next game

(01:51:45):
on the slate the Giants and the Vikings. The Giants
are three point underdog going up there, Kirk Cousins playing
at four thirty Eastern time, and just get me the
Viking straight up. I don't think they. I think this
is a field goal game with one team up one
or two points either way. Somebody misses a makes but
give me the Vikings. I don't like the three points.
I think this is a one or two point game
very close tomorrow if I'm wrong and wrong, but give

(01:52:06):
me a Minnesota on this one. I'll just take the
Vikings straight up on this one. Yeah, I'm taking the
Giant straight up. Actually, I think this is gonna be
one of the upsets of the week here. Look, Kirk
Cousins don't like getting hit, you know what, came on too,
but don't like doing especially in the last month of
the season, hitting hitting quarterbacks. All right. I think Cavon
Tipodoll get in makes an impact early and we see
I honestly think that this one might. People were saying

(01:52:28):
circling this as the close game of the weekend. I'm
a little concerned about that. The Bills play host to
your Miami Dolphins and Skyler Thompson, Tyreek Kill, Dalen Waddle right,
Phillips on the back side, David Howard. Yeah, here's the
thing with Miami this year, man and and people, they've
been I don't want to sound like that guy, but
they've been out for Miamie all year long. I don't

(01:52:49):
know what's up, but we do notice when two plays
they were the six rings offense and NFL this year guys,
So you guys, you don't look into that over a season,
but they don't have to. I don't even talk about
Teddy b I hain't Buffal loads on a roll right now. Man,
Buffalo's got some high energy, especially with the incident with
with Darren Hamling. He's back. They said he met with
family today and the facility and the facility today. Man

(01:53:10):
met with family, team teammates and teammates, family and stuff
like that today. So I think that rides for them tomorrow.
I do think the Miami will be ampty, be ready
to play, and guys will go out and play their
ass off. I just don't think they have enough to
go there when also most are also ruled out with
the broken thumb as the cats on his hand. So
now you're down to two running backs and they just
have enough firepower. Good season, get to the playoffs Miami,
but it ends tomorrow. I do think there's no doubt

(01:53:32):
that it is tomorrow. However, that four teen points, I'm
a little concerned about that with the Buffalo Bills. Listen,
I you know, I don't know, maybe I'm maybe I'm
losing my mind, but it's just fourteen points in the
divisional matchup that like that's that just on its face.
I get it's the playoffs, but I mean, they are
they if they get a chance to run it up
on Miami tomorrow, they're going to run it up on Miami.

(01:53:53):
No'm row They're not gonna pull guys. I think I
would imagine. I would imagine they start pulling guys trying
to get ready for the next round that they'll play
with the last game of the weekend, Monday Night football.
Martin Luther teen Day specially, have off work all day
to get ready for this. When the Cowboys and the Buccaneers.
You got Tom Brady and the Buccaneers who snuck into
the playoffs almost gross play possible against the Cowboys who

(01:54:15):
could have won the NFC East. I I just I'm
gonna give the Bucks one more shot, man, I'm gonna
give him one more shot. I probably won't pick them
no more in the post team they win this game,
but I do. Dallas is just dysfunctional right now with
a lot of stuff they have going on with Dak
and Jerry's already saying that the coaches, uh that, uh,
Mike McCarthy is safe, and that's fine, but give me,

(01:54:36):
give me Tampa with this at home. Also to Dallas
defense doesn't play as fast on grass as they do
at home on turf. I think that's a factor. On Monday. Now,
I've been trying to wonder just how much that really
truly matters matter. It's kind of matter some bit, but again,
this is part of the thing, and I felt, why
are people playing on different playing surfaces. In the NBA,
everybody plays in the same hardwood. In baseball out of

(01:54:58):
bounds might be different, but we all know the grass
is the same. In the NFL, I don't understand why
we have grass field and I got the NFL p
A for the Lions fouling grievances. They got turf and baseball,
but all right, well in the indoor places. But generally
the grass is the grass and the turf is the turf. Okay,
we have all this different grass turf whatever. I'm kicking

(01:55:19):
the Cowboys. I heard Jason Garrett say that on TV,
so I'm now questioning how much it truly matters. You
know what I'm saying. Give me the hard Dallas Cowboys
in that one and enjoy the rest of your God
