Speaker 2 (00:42):
I'm doing well now that I have recovered from the
static shock that was my headphones this a second ago.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
I'm doing well. I'll say this. You know what else
was shocking today?
Speaker 2 (00:51):
When I saw this come across the timeline on Twitter,
Joe Mixon took a four million dollar pay cut.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
Ye Hey, look, so Joe Mixon said this. This is
what Joe Mixon said.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
He looked around the off season, He looked around the
free agent market. He said, look, I see Dalvin, I
see Zeke, Hey Cincinnati. I just want a jersey. I
just want to play. I just want a jersey. Hey,
pick me guys, pick me back up, pick me back up.
It's the dog on shame. Austin Eckler. We talked about
(01:23):
this just a little bit ago. Obviously, they say, hey,
go out there and see what's out there. Often go
out to the NFL, all the twenty nine teams, see
what's up?
Speaker 1 (01:32):
What can you get? All right? Test the free agent market.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Austin Eckler did that, he came back, and this is
what he had to say about his experience out now
that he's now going to be back with the Chargers
this season.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
If I'm looking at some of the backup receivers out
here that are still making more than me, and that's
going to piss me off, right, I'm a little bit.
I'm like, okay, wait a minute, So you're telling me
these people are the number three receiver is going to
make more than me and I'm the starter. I get
more carries, I touched the ball more, I have more
of an impact, causes us the question. Right, we're gonna
fight for that. We're gonna fight for Hey, I'm bringing
(02:03):
more value to the team than this person. I think
I should be compensated for that. It seems like it's
about money, but it's about principle, right, It's about the
principle of adding value to a team. It's going to
take something, right, whether some guy stands out again, whether
this year or some you know, one of these guys
holds out and get the big contract, but we need
that needle to move to push us over the edge.
(02:24):
Because here's the deal. The salary cap goes out every
single year, and so you see new highs in every
single position. And I'm not saying we've had another Christian
McCaffrey type guy who's gonna even you know, blow up
the market and the running back and put a new high.
We've had people that have been close. For sure, maybe
you could justify that there has been, but there's no
one even been close to those contracts, not even close.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
That's Austin Eckler on The Rich Eisen Show, and he
has like, the only point to me that matters in
this entire discussion if I was it sitting as the
head of the NFLPA or one of the representatives who's
negotiating in a collective bargaining agreement. We have got to
change the rules here in the way that we are
(03:07):
financing players, the way we are getting the determining how
much each player is supposed to make. Because Austin Eckler's
exactly right. He carries the ball, he catches the ball,
he blocks, He's these are three down back and across
the league we've seen guys like this.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Austin Eckler is the guy you're supposed to be paying.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
He's like your number one guy should be paid as
if he's a number one guy. Aufton Eckler in today's
running NFL, in the way that they run the ball,
today's NFL, the way they.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Moved the ball on offense, He's a number one type
of running back.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
Al Alvin Kamara, Christian McCaffrey, guys that you can have
him running, catch passes out of the backfield, Jacobs, boom
swing passes, screen passes. You put him in the slot,
He's not lost. He can go and get open on
an option right on a linebacker because that's the type
of player that he is, instead of somehow seeing this,
seeing the value that a guy like Christian McCaffrey had
(04:06):
for the San Francisco forty nine ers in the second
half of the season as they're starting the second and
then third string quarterbacks right or seeing the value that
hell Austin Eckler head to the Los Angeles Chargers. How
many times you see Justin Herbert dump it off at
Austin Eckler's corps.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yep, you know it. Just I know he's very pop
not a big fantasy guy, but I.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Know he's one of the favorite people of fantasy football
players all the time because of the production that he
puts out. And here's the if you aren't getting paid
for your production, then what are we supposed to be
marking this on? Like what if there's no level of oh,
well you made this, you got this amount of yards,
you scored this amount of touchdowns, so one is so.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Forth what then it's it's completely arbitrary.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
And I said it was a farce before, because it's
it's it's creating a secondary salary cap on top of
running backs, just like Eckler said, the number one you
see highs and receiver highs, and quarterbacks, line odds and
defensive most guaranteed money here, longest deal there, you know,
and then all of a sudden, when it gets to
the guy who was gonna have twenty touches a game,
(05:12):
it's like, oh, well, hey, buddy, you know you really
don't matter.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
That much to our team exactly.
Speaker 4 (05:17):
And if this is a case of monkey see monkey do,
the Patriots did this to the NFL because they were
winning so much with random guys at the running back
position in the NFL is a copycat league if there's
ever been a copycat league. But the problem is you
all don't have Tom Brady and you don't have Belichick's defense,
so you can't really look at it like that. And
(05:39):
I thought that started the run of teams really looking
and saying, yeah, we'll use you for about two or
three years, maybe four years, but you get any type
of injury.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Ie Todd Gurley, we saw what happened with him and
his deal.
Speaker 4 (05:51):
Kamara. Kamara got hurt. He got his deal right before that, though,
but he'll never get that deal again. And Zeke was
ushered out of the door in Dallas, and it's still
a free agent and has not been signed. I thought
he was done two years ago, and there are still
people that believe he can still give your team something
he probably can't. But the simple fact is that at
the number he wants, he's not going to get that
because we have continued to devalue the In my opinion,
(06:14):
other than quarterback, second most important position in football, because
football were on one on one is run the football
and stop the run. You have to run the football.
The Chiefs won the Super Bowl last year, it was
a lot because of Mahomes. But if they don't find
Pachenko and insert him in that offense and he runs
while the last seven, eight, nine weeks of the year,
they don't get that far, they don't win the Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
But you still have to run the football.
Speaker 4 (06:38):
And you look think about a guy like Davin Cook
right now that's out that hasn't been signed. Everybody's gonna
go to Miami, and then there's the Jets, and there's
all these other you know, scenarios and reasons why. And
you I heard Bloomer Sciences and say that the Vikings
gave him. They've got a seven million dollar deal on
the table for him right now. So it isn't like
people don't have deals on the table. The Dolphins have
a deal on the table for him right now. Austin
(07:00):
Eckler is a guy, and I mentioned this last week
when I talked about me thinking the Chargers might take
a step back, that you're right. They let Austin Eckler
go search the entire league all through free agency and
nobody gave him a deal. This is a guy that
had nine hundred plus on the ground last year, seven
hundred plus through the air, and he's only twenty seven
years old. You know what they used to do, Martin Weiss.
They used to say, well, once you get to thirty,
(07:22):
you're never gonna get that. He's twenty seven, Bro, he's
three years away from that, so you can't use the
age anymore. So to your point, what is it why
y'all doing this like this? Just let's just think back.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Yeah, you run your temple. Look at you like I'm
trying off the top crazy.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
I was in Las Vegas, I believe, doing this show
and we saw that it was the Chiefs in the
Raiders game, and then the Tennessee Titans followed that up
as they were approaching a playoff birth because theyre gonna
win the NFC South or win the AFC South. Josh
Dobbs was the quarterback, the guy they had just called
in yep to bring because ma Leak Willis wasn't getting
(07:57):
it done.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
And Ryan Tannehill hurt. Okay, yeah, Okay, Ryan Tannel was hurt.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
The Tennessee Titans have won the division or qualified for
the playoffs in the AFC off the top of May.
Last four years have been one of the more day in,
day out competitive teams in the AFC without having necessarily
the championship level, you know, but in terms of winning
the division getting invited to the dance. Part of the
(08:27):
reason why is because Derrick henry Is in the last
seven years, each of the last seven years has ripped
off a seventy five yard run on Week seventeen or
Week fifteen on things on that football because nobody wants
to hit them right. I'll talk to Will Blackman about this,
he does media. Former NFL defensive back played for the
(08:47):
Giants win the Super Bowl with the Giants, he said Man.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Part of the reason why running the ball.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Is effective is not only just because of like the
change of pace and all of that, but it's like, Yo,
after three cops are coming down and hitting this guy,
my arm hurts. I don't want to do it anymore.
I can't feel my elbow, you know what I'm saying.
As and then Derrick Henry, built like a truck, is
(09:12):
running right down the scene at you, and you've got
to do something about You got to step up.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
And it's cold outside and the weather sucks, right, and.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
You're like, you know what, I got a nagging shoulder
injury from week six? You've been playing when this is
what you gotta lead with to hit this guy.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Yeah, we just watched Quarterback. We didn't watch We'll talk
about it in a second. I watched it Quarterback on Netflix. Right,
you go back and look at all those Kirk Cousins games.
How many times are you sitting back there and looking
at him saying, yeah, Delvin go, Dalvin, run, Dalvin, keep going, Dalvin,
keep going, Dalvin, keep going. Dalvin and Delvin cook seventy
five yard touchdown.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
Right.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
But legitimately, if as you watch the series, pay attention
to that, well it'll be something.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
That you can't miss.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Because I mean, I'm not saying obviously Kirk Cousins. You know,
he had a good season last year, whatever you want
to call it, I'm not saying, but a lot of.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
It of the netflix of him on.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
The Godalvin run, Dalvin Godalvin go Godalvin got right.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
And it's just some of it. He knows, he knows,
and he's got Justin Jefferson, but.
Speaker 5 (10:16):
He knows it.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Just it's just mind boggling to think about how important
a running game is, right, how important a running game
is to the football team. And you see a guy
like Joe Mixon, who has been a lead back in
(10:37):
two of the last three AMC Championship games, and he's
just like, you know, hey, good luck, goodlow. We'll see
you when we see you, Joe, we got no business
for you. Got no you want more money? Your contract
is up. How dare you how dare you even think
that you will be able to sign for I don't know,
five million dollars.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
We have Joe Burrow, we have our Chase, we have Higgins.
You know, yeah you want to go, Okay, we can.
We can find somebody to turn it. But that's part
of the problem, though, that we can find somebody and
turn the hand the ball to that's the problem.
Speaker 2 (11:10):
But I don't believe it's one hundred percent true. No,
I don't even like, like, all right, you talk about
Pacheco seventh round pick, almost mister irrelevant ran his assh
off last year? How much of that is because there's
no safeties in the box because Patrick Mahomes is his quarterback.
(11:30):
If you put Isaiah Pacheco on the New York Jets
with their quarterback scenario, do you think that they're running
to the super Bowl?
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Because I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
Kerry Rose was in here, maybe we could ask him,
if he's still around, what he thinks.
Speaker 1 (11:46):
I don't think.
Speaker 6 (11:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
I don't think so. No, I don't think so. I
don't think that. I don't think that Mike White and
Zach Wilson could get it done. No, absolutely not.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
And when you look at some of the contracts I
got and put it right here, b John Robinson a
rookie this year, thirteen million, Christian mccraffy twelve, Kamara eleven,
Aaron Jones ten, Chubb ten, Henry ten, Mixing ten's there's
the cat.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
That's the cat, right, yes, And they decided that this
is the most you can make it this position. I
tell you what, man, if I was ahead of the
NFL PA, We're not leaving the room until this is solved.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
We have got to figure this out, because here's the deal.
I don't have necessarily a big problem.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
If you're a backup running back, a seventh seventh round
pick isable to check off to that example right now,
he can.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Make a look he doesn't. I get it, probably makes
like one two million here if that. But but I
get I get that.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Okay, you found the rookie here, but when you find
the guy that runs you through the division a lah
Ezekiel Elliott. Okay, we got to figure out a way
so where the best players on the field are getting
compensated as such, getting because Offton Eckler talking about how
he's making less than the third receiver on the field is.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
Like, what are we talkingous?
Speaker 2 (13:05):
Bonkers Braxton Burrios, who VJ said about ten minutes ago
the Jets are gonna miss greatly in special teams, may
sign more for them what Joe Mixon just did.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Yeah. Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
Also, Ecker's only making six million this year, So six
million dollars to your number one running back on a
team that people think is gonna.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Make a good playoff run.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
They went to the playoffs last year and gave up
the big lead against the Jacksonville Jaguars and lost the
wildcard game. But a team that people are really high
on because of their quarterback, a lot of people don't
like their coach, including the gentleman sitting right next to
me here to the right. I think he probably should
be fired also at some point this year if he doesn't,
he doesn't turn that thing around.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Here. But here's the guy who you're using through the
air and on the ground.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
So he's actually he had more receiving yards than the
number three receiver he finished with seven to twenty two
last year through the air. How is he getting paid
less than the guy that he caught more receiving yards for?
And he's not even a receiver. He's not even a
receiver and he's getting paid less. So I did hear
an argument earlier this morning where somebody said, if you're
(14:08):
gonna work this out in the CBN, I'm with you.
They need to give the players un and the CBN
and get this worked out. But they're gonna have to
push and give back on something else. So it's man
it's tough, but I don't think it's changing Martin, no
time soon. And I think this is where we are
in modern NFL football.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
For the running back. My son was to play running back.
I'm telling him, Nope, nope, nope.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Note this b John Robinson is the highest paid running
back in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Right right now, haven't played a game yet because only
because he was a first round pick. That's it.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
And we saw the world lose its mind when the
Lions and there's three backs taken in the first round
at the Lions and Bijon and I think somebody maybe
just two might have.
Speaker 7 (14:50):
Been if there was a third it was later. I
know Gibbs was twelve.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Yeah, yeah, that was well, yeah, shocker until you put
that tape on.
Speaker 7 (14:59):
No, I mean he's a different but he still But
to your guys point, this is almost like when we
have this conversation with Jimmy Jimmy Graham, Oh tight ends position.
They were underpaid for a while too, and they were
able to manage to change that. But now it's the
running backs turns.

Martin VJ coming to you live from the Tirack dot
com studios. Going back to Calill Clue Jay is what
we just are listening to coming back from break and
it's because one bearded one California native. Los Angeles native
James Harden allegedly apparently is saying that he wants to
play for the Los Angeles Clippers. He will he refuses
to go back to the Philadelphia seventy six ers. According
(16:38):
to the reports, he just I'm completely out on that
and wants to come play for the Clippers.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
I just asked, James Harden, you know, I've been living
in La now for about seven years.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Yeah, it's lovely. It's lovely, but you know, hot today.
But this beautiful A scorcher, that's it's a scorchard. Especially
the higher up you get in the valley the worst.
I live in Hollywood now. Never mind anyway, James Harden
wants to come live in Hollywood as well, or probably
on the West Side.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
But wait for the Clippers. I just want to know.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
If James Harden, like before he does these things, before
he demands to turn out of Houston and puts on
the fat suit, and before he's like I want out
to Larius, Like, does he like pay attention to the
landscape of the league, like you know what I'm saying, like,
and to be fair, you know a lot of players
that they're locked in on their team or what they
(17:30):
got going on. You may not know what's happening in
Portland or in Arizona, for example.
Speaker 1 (17:35):
You're all the way in Philadelphia.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
But if James Harden hasn't noticed this, the Clippers haven't
had a healthy playoff run, this iteration, this whole run,
this of this time period. Yeah, of the what do
you want to clip als who say the Kawhi Clippers,
whatever you want to call them, This generation of Clipper,
(17:58):
the Tylu Clipper. I'm not talking about Lob City and
Chris Paul. I'm talking about it different. I'm talking about
this generation of the Clippers. Lord Chris Paul's been in
the league for a long time. This generation of Clippers,
it's General Hospital Kuyser Permanente gets a bonus every time
they walk in. I mean they are always there between Kawhi,
(18:22):
remember Kawhi and the playoffs?
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Hurt his knee, He's day to day.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Oh wait no, the next day on TV, Skip Bayley says,
it's a tour in a cl Everybody's like, what, you
don't know what he's talking about? Three weeks later, Kawhi
is getting surgery. Podcaster Paul, you know what I'm saying,
as good as he's been as a player, in his
face of the organization, he's getting hurt. Man, he did,
they don't finish the year. If James Harden wants to
(18:47):
win a championship. You know what though, so I just
maybe you just got to stop operating from the if
James Harden wants to win a championship and just start
operating from James Harden would like to have all the
benefits of an NBA player.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
There you go and only play like eighty two to
ninety games. Max.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
Yeah, and see, I'm glad you went there, because that's
exactly where I'm going. And I've said this about James
Harden for about a year and a half two years now.
There are certain players in professional sports, guys. And You've
worked with a bunch of former pro athletes. I've worked
with a bunch of former pro athletes. There's certain questions
I like to ask. One of them is is everybody really.
Speaker 1 (19:23):
There man to win? And they all tell me.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Everyone I've ever talked to, I've always told me no,
some guys are there for the money. Some guys are
there because they got kids and a wife. They got
to take care of their family there. They get the
practice on time, they leave right when practice is over.
They don't put in a lot of extra work. They're
good enough to be on the field or the court
or the baseball diamond, but they're not. They're not worried
about championships.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
To the point of, it's a job, and you may
like the same way you might be good at you
listening in the car. Maybe good at your job, but
like one.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Day it's like they gotta go, yeah, exactly. Pro sports
is the same way. Guys like there are. I think
Harden is one of those guys that's like, listen, I've
made a ton of money. I live the life I
want to live. Hard has never been in any type
of trouble. Hard has never given anybody like any type
of like social problems or public image issues or anything.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
He's just James Harden and he's made a bunch of
money and he just wants to play basketball.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
I don't think he cares about winning a championship at
this point in his life, because the teams that are
probably the best suit to do win a championship.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
He can't get to.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
No one thought that Philly was gonna win a championship
this year because they had Harden and Joel Eban and
Tobias Harris. They aren't picked to win it by no
damn body unless you're in South for West Philly. So
I just think, Harden, this is James hard. This doesn't
bother me at all because it's like, listen, he lives
out here. First of all. It's got a big mansion
in Malleburn on the beach. He's always out here. This
is probably gonna be his last stop. He's just trying
(20:45):
to get to. He's just trying to get back home.
He's just trying to get home. And I'm you know,
I got no beef with it, Bro, to be honest
with you, You're right, he doesn't check what teams are
looking to win a championship. We're gona win a championship
because James Harden, and my humble opinion, doesn't care about
winning the championship at this point in his career anymore.
It's about just getting his bread, stacking his money and
(21:05):
moving on and playing ball.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Bro. It's something that I.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Think about a lot in college football, especially when you
see the Ohio State and the Clemsons and the Alabamas
and l s U from time to times, like there
are teams that want to win, yes, and there are
teams that would like to win, that would like to
James Harden would like to win. I'm not saying that
he's actively going out there and like, you know what
I'm saying. You know, if I give him that, Martin,
I don't think he's going out there taking games.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
But I'm saying they've got to be a line. I'm
get the number point.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
Yeah, I'm gonna get paid and Okay, if we win
a championship, cool, and if I don't, you're still gonna
talk about me as one of the greatest scorers that
ever in this league.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
So it's some guys are just built that way. Bro.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
They're not built They're not built for championships. They're built
to play, make their money and live their lifestyle. Look
what's happening in the Zion Zion ain't really about one
to like really playing in ball hard. Zion likes what
the Christmas Start said something really interesting the other day
about Zion. I've heard it before, but it is the
way he worded it. Some people like what the game
gives to them like what being a pro athlete does
(22:08):
for them in their life socially, the women, the clubs,
the money, the flash, the not to riot, and the celebrity.
Some people care about that stuff more than they do
care about being a champion. And I've always pointed that
out about certain places. Odell Beckham is a guy that
comes to mind, came into the league and set the
league on fire fourteen hundred serve yards as a rick
for the Giants. But as you can start to see
his social stuff, it's like, yay, he cares more about
(22:29):
being a celebrity than being a champion.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
Some guys have just built like that.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
You know, we're gonna have to Rea, We're gonna have
to address that Odell Beckham thing, and just a moment,
we're going through it right now. Maybe maybe we'll do
it at the bottom of the hour at five and
five at the eight thirty hour Eastern time. We'll get
back to that Oldell thing, because I think he was
unfairly painted at a certain point in his situation. Coming
up next though, we will have Fox Sports Radio inside
(22:54):
of Mark but Dana and all things on the NBA.
But before we get to that Nick kope, I got
a lot of baseball bets going on out there, buddy,
give me good news.
Speaker 9 (23:02):
All right, Well, let's see how you're doing. We got
a bunch of games that just got going. The Marlins,
hopefully at Miami in and off. Bet you probably didn't,
but they've jumped on the Orioles four nothing in the
second inning. In Baltimore, Padres and Phillies playing game two
of a double header. Phillies won the first game six
to four, but the Padres have jumped out to a
one to nothing lead in the first inning, twins on
(23:23):
top the A's two zip. And you got the Rais
and Royals playing game two of a double header, no
score in the second. Rays took game one six to one,
White Sox and Brave scoreless in the second inning. And
we got a bunch of rain delays. You got a
rain delay for the Brewers and the Reds, Dodgers and
Mets delayed in New York. So are the Nationals and
the Cardinals. And you also got the Giants and Padres.
(23:46):
All four of those games currently in rain delays. A
couple other finals from earlier. The Cubs dominated the Red
Sox ten to four, Cody Bellinger hit a grand Slam
as part of a six run third inning. Blue Jays
over the Diamondbacks five to two, and the Rangers shout
out the Guardians to nothing. Couple injuries to note, Cleveland
put pitcher Shane Bieber on the fifteen day il right
(24:07):
elbow inflammation, Braves lefty reliever aj Minterter going on the
fifteen day injured list with shoulder inflammation. In tennis, Marquette
von Drosova became the first unseated woman to win Wimbledon.
She defeated onebur in straight sets for her first major title.
And Golfroy McRoy as a one shot lead at the
end of the third round with the Scottish Shopen American
(24:30):
Century Championship in Tahoe. Steph Curry at the top of
the leader board after the second round. He had a
hole in one earlier today Part three, seven hundred and
fifty two yards out.
Speaker 7 (24:39):
He said it was the second hole in one he's
ever had.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Backs to you guys, thanks, Nick, Martin and vij Coming
to you a lot from the Tireck dot Com studios.
Without further ado, Let's get my guy in here. You
all know Fox Sports Radio NBA insider. He's all over Twitter,
he's on threads with the all the news. My main guy,
Mark Madina, what's going on, my friend?
Speaker 1 (25:03):
How are you?
Speaker 10 (25:04):
I'm doing well and joined the soundtrack as always and
trying to recover from Vegas.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
I'm about to say, I'm sure you were very happy
to go back to Cali after a well.
Speaker 10 (25:14):
Look, I love Vegas Summer League scene Victor Wambanyama player
seeing Scoot Henderson play. But I had to get out
there to avoid the heat and also so I wouant
to be tempted to lose any money at to put
that tables there. So I survived.
Speaker 1 (25:28):
Man, I thought that's right. I thought that's right.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
So NBA Summer League is kind of shut down now, obviously,
I mean not the big stars are kind of sitting
or they're arresting or you know, recovering from injury.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
At this point, I want to ask you.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
About a guy who's actually in the league currently right now.
The reports are that he wants to come to Los Angeles.
James Harden is still staying, still staying strong about this,
I want out of Philly situation.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
What's your read on this?
Speaker 2 (25:55):
And like, is there a reciprocity in Los Angeles that
they also want James.
Speaker 10 (26:01):
Well, I think the Clippers would certainly entertain the possibility
of getting James Harden. Look, when they clear cap space
for Eric Gordon by waving them, it wasn't just to
save on luxury taxes. It was to you know, put
themselves in a position and get a big move. But look,
I don't think that the Clippers are obviously going to
make Kawhi Leonard and Paula George available, And because of that,
(26:23):
I think Darryl Mory is going to say, yeah, no thanks,
I don't want to waste my time here. And even
with that, I think it would have to come to
the right deal because the Clippers, by gaying James Harden,
they were just they could wind up just getting another
star player that can't stay healthy. And they already have
two of those guys, and Kawhi Leonard and Paula George.
But I think on the Sixers end, they feel like, hey,
(26:44):
there's no much value. Even though it rounds out into
depth of just getting all the Clippers scraps of young
players here, they view themselves as a contender and I
think that Darryl Morey has shown in the past he's
willing to drag trade negotiations out, you know, happen with
Ben Simmons. Ironically, for James Harden, while I think that
(27:08):
the tunes a little bit different. When James Harden made
the request, I think it was more of the mindset
of Okay, let's let's see what what deal we can make,
what's best for the club. But I think the more
time has passed on for pragmatic reasons. I want to
be surprised if Daryl Morey decides, you know what, the
best course of action is just to keep them, because
(27:30):
I can't really get anything of value for him.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
What's going on? My man, M Square, Vija brighter Husky here,
how are you doing today?
Speaker 10 (27:36):
Square?
Speaker 5 (27:37):
I like that.
Speaker 10 (27:38):
I liked that.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
Ok like that exactly. M Square's mixtape dropping next week.
We're keeping that, We're keeping that one. Let's flop to
another guy. That's big trade talk right now, Dame Lillard.
I's all report that maybe Toronto might want to get
in on this as a third team. They're interested or
could be interested entirely. Hero The reason why that was
very interesting to me because Siakam is a guy that's
been talked about maybe being traded. They want to work
(28:00):
a deal with him long term because he's coming up
on his contract year. Talk to us about those stories,
those rumors, Are any any real gas to that? Are
they just trying to drive up the price for the
heat Port was driving up the price with the heat.
Speaker 10 (28:12):
Well, I think both things can happen. I'm mutually exclusive,
and I think Toronto don't be surprised that not just
Pascalcio Siakam, but Ogionanobia. I mean, look all the different
remaining parts of the Toronto Raptors championship team. It's vanished.
I mean, first it was Kawhiet Leonard leaving as a
free agent in twenty nineteen. But slowly but surely, these
(28:35):
past years, they've really lost the fabric. You know, you
look at Kyle Lowry, you look at Fred van Vliet.
This past offseason they got rid of Nick Nurse. It
just feels like they're gained to the inevitables. You know, well,
let's start over, Let's rebuild instead of just pretending they
have a shot to make a playoff run, let alone
even make the playing tournament. But will that be enough
(28:59):
for all these trade maschinations to work? That's I think
the thing. It's very tough to answer, and I think
the bottom line is that there is a feeling around
the league that not only is we do we know
a third team has to get involved, but if the
Sixers dude trade James Harden, it could be all intertwined
with one huge deal where maybe it doesn't mean Damian
(29:22):
Loward's going to Philadelphia because he's made it clear he
only wants to go to Miami, but for every party
to make it work, maybe it involves them as well
in a four team having forbid beyond that type of trade.
So stay tuned.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
Only fourteen trades. I love to see a wild Dinner part.
I love to see it.
Speaker 10 (29:44):
The salary Kap experts will get overtime on that.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
Yeah, definitely, definitely.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
I want to ask you though, because you were as
you were making that cases now made me think a
lot of that is also kind of true.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
Although they're not it's necessarily in the market for a trade.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
But for the Milwaukee Bucks that coach, they had a
lot of success and Norather Frederick is still there. Of
Yannis and Chris Middleton, like we saw this, this was
the team like Miami went on a crazy run that
then justified it. But this was a team that the
best regular season record or one of the best regular
season records in the NBA, and it was out before
(30:20):
reaching Game seven of the first round, right, And so
I wonder, like, with the new coach in there, and
and seems like I know Yannis is actually with my
cousin believed or not in China, uh, kicking soccer balls
or something. But I just was wondering, I don't know
what you do. I saw the social media, but I wonder,
how do you feel about the Bucks going forward in this?
I know Yanni's has kind of always been loyal to
(30:41):
the Milwaukee soil. No Hedy's really worried about that, but
just the state of the Milwaukee Bucks as a team
that would be one of the teams that generally people
are penciling in to compete at the top.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
Of the East.
Speaker 10 (30:52):
Yeah, I think they were going to follow the Denver
Nuggets were out where it's continuity around the stars and
the role And when you look at what they did
and free agency, they did exactly that. I mean, they
resigned Chris Milton, resigned, Brook Lopez got his brother Robin Lopez,
and there was you know very much the wonderment that
once they lost in the first round or all these
(31:14):
domino is going to fall, and really the only domino
is Mike Budenholzer. So there is a feeling of, you know,
what they underachieved. Giannis wasn't fully healthy. They have a
good enough roster, maybe adding more rotation guys, but with
their top guys they're fine. So just run it back
and I think when you look at the rest of
the East, I would put them in number one. I
(31:35):
mean with the Boston Celtics, maybe there are more shoes
to drop with you know, all the activity that they've
done with trading Marcus Smart, getting Chris hosforzingis, you know,
leying Grant Williams go. But as of now, I think
it's just night and day. How much better the Bucks
are on paper than Boston. When you look at the
(31:56):
rest of the East, it can be competitive. I think
in the middle of the pack, whether it's the Nicks
or the six Ers, even Miami and obviously they get
Damian Lillard. It changes, but in the Calves, but as
of now, I don't feel like they match what the
Bucks can offer. So I think with them, there's always
drama in the NBA, but I don't think that the
(32:18):
Bucks are going to be involved with that this offseason
or even you know, when when the game starts. I
think that they'll rectify what happened the first round last
season and they'll look like they were when they were
competing for a title two years ago.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Like you just said, Mark, there's always drama in the NBA.
I know you won't be in the drama, but you
will have all the information about the drama the next
time we talk to you, and every time you come
on Fox Sports Radio, Mark or what is it?
Speaker 1 (32:45):
M Squares hm Square? Thanks, thanks for thank you.
Speaker 10 (32:50):
I appreciate How about this MGMG is my middle initial?
Speaker 4 (32:53):
Ooh okay MG, alright, MGU like that coming up with
your own nicknames.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
Do you think you are? VJ? I think you are.
I love that. All right, Martin and BJA, we'll be
right back.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
We're gonna get into a little bit more of this
running back talk and see just just what exactly can
be done about it. Martin VJ, Fox Sports Radio. Martin
and VJ coming to your life from the Tirack dot
Com studios. Joe Nick Cope came in here. I went
in between one of the breaks and made a really
good point. I looked at Joe Mixon's contract. I thought
about it. He made four million this year and next
(33:35):
year as well. He took a pay cut of basically
half his salary to extend it over a two year
period of what he would have made just so basically
probably they'd be going to do this again next summer. Yeah,
smart move in the market that we're in. But I
just I can't stand what's going on here like it.
It really drives me insane. And I would say this though,
(33:57):
to my point Mixing and particular, I think it's a
smart move because if I'm the Bengals, I'm trying to
keep as many.
Speaker 1 (34:07):
Of my pieces as I possibly can. Right. I think
I got that dude in Joe Burrow, however.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
And I'm the biggest Joe Burrow Faniel Fine, Okay, I
haven't really seen him do it without like a Jamar
Chase T. Higgins and Tyler Boyd got a high level
of great receiving corps.
Speaker 1 (34:25):
Right, I gotta have a great receiver from college.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Yeah, I haven't never, but hey, he has shown that
on the biggest stages, in the biggest moments he's not
gonna shrink, he's not gonna shrivel.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
He can go in there.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
He can get the ball delivered, and that is something
that obviously, hell, only fifteen people in the world can
do pretty much.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
Yeah, no, Joe Burrow is set there. The receiving corps
set there. They have to make some improvements on the
defensive side of the ball to the offensive line. They've
been trying to fix for the last two seasons because
the offensive side of the offensive line has not been good.
Joe Burrow has been one of the most sacked quarterbacks
in all the football Some of that's on him too. Yeah,
he ows the ball some, but that I think that
comes with maturity and that just comes with experience and
(35:02):
time and just playing. But I thought this was a
smart deal for both sides and for both parties, because
if you don't do this deal and they decided to
cut you next year, you could be Dalvin Cook.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
You could be Zeke Elliott.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
Where we are sitting on what was to like July fifteenth,
like like the but mass Jets report this week, guys,
like it's football season. Teams start reporting later this week,
and you still don't have a team because the number
you're looking for is too high for what people want
to pay. This was smart to stay there man and
see if you can get back to the bowl and
see if you could put a ring. It's worth it,
(35:36):
I tell you this, It's worth it, definitely if he
can put a ring on his finger in the next
two seasons.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
These are the.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
Things like, this is the type of deal that I
don't have a crazy problem with because of all the
like you know, when you look at the framework of
of what the Bengals doing will make some good right,
you know what I'm saying. Like their ability to run
the ball was very very helpful. Don't get me wrong,
Absolutely they need it. Yeah, but you know it's a
thousand year old back. A lot of Jamar Chase is
a lot, you know what I'm saying. So if there
(36:02):
was ever a scenario on which I was like, Okay,
I get not paying the running back. Maybe it's cin
Cincinnati like but could but the only the rules gotta
be if you have if you don't have that guy
Capitol t capitol g at quarterback, you got it, you
better have a running back.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
Yep, you better have a run. Better have him maybe
two maybe two. You gotta run the football if you
don't have a guy on a perimeter. But once again,
I go back to the Patriots all the years when
they were winning with Tom Brady, you could just kind
of not put any running back back there. But they
had guys you can hand the ball to. They had
a great offensive line. And the one year that he
had a superstar of two years he was there, two
(36:40):
three years he was there. But the one year they
went to the Super Bowl went seventeen to er. Randy
Moss caught twenty five touchdown passes, broke the record. Like
when you gave him a super guy, Look look at
the numbers he put up. Other than that, they didn't
have a good receiving corps or a great receiving corps.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
But you know what they had. They had Corey Dillon.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
Remem when Cincinnati was done with Corey Dillon and no
one in the NFL wanted nothing to a Quarry Dylan.
All he did was go to the Patriots and run
for fifteen hundred yards and back to back years. Remember
Legarrett Blunt, Remember he punched the Boise State guy when
he was at excuse me, he's at Oregon. Punched the
bases Boys State guy hurt his draft pick as draft stock,
goes to the NFL, gets caught with the weed, gets
(37:16):
caught smoking weed, tests the positive we.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
No one wants Lagarrett Blunt.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
All they do is signed him and he wents up
there and he runs for like sixteen seventeen hundred yards
and leads the league in rushing. Like if you can't
run the football, you better have as like Mark said,
that guy. But if you don't got that guy, you
better be able to run the football to keep the
clock ticket and to keep the ball from the opposing team.
Speaker 1 (37:36):
Because an efficient running game, yeah, raises your floor.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
And then a league in which everybody they're trying to
get everybody to go five hundred, right, more or less,
they want everybody to be alive as long as they
possibly can and playoff, postseason, run all that, it raises
your floor so high. The Falcons went through a quarterback.
The Panthers went through three quarterback changes, and they were
(38:04):
really need to run the ball. They can run the
football though, had them in the front for the NFC
South until the end with one Thomas Patrick with braded
this as as one quarterback in that division.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
Baltimore, Baltimore you have Lamar Jackson, but let's get real.
For the last three or four years, daven had that
guy at receiver. Their best receiver is Mark Andrews. Their
best receiver is they're tight end.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
But you know they can do. You know what the
Baltimore Ravens can do. They can run the football. Go
look at the stats. Number two, I believe number two,
number one and number one two or over the last
three years of total offensive rushing the football. And check this.
Speaker 4 (38:42):
Their two starting running backs got hurt in preseason last
year and we're done for the year, and they still
were able to be a top three running offense in
the NFL. You know, I still have Lamar Jackson, but
they could run the football. Fellas same thing. So you
better be able to run the football, better be able
to have a running back. And I'm with you, brother,
I don't know what they do. And we'll talk about
(39:02):
Saquon coming up lately. That's mine blowing. What's happened to
Saquon's mind blowing to me. If you think the Austin
Eckler thing was mind blowing, wait until we get to
Saquon Barkley. And I was I was a guy that
thought he would be you know, Johnny Carter, he would
be Curtisying. It's another great Penn State running back that
came to the NFL and you know just didn't materialize.
God shut me up and prove me wrong. He got
(39:24):
hurt and then still came back and had the productive
year last year like he did his rookie or so,
and he's he's fighting.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
They got to what Monday four pm? Correct?
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Yeah, I'll say this in terms of shea Quan, I'll
paraphrase Marlow Stanfield.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
Either do it or don't.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
I got somewhere to be all right, he'll do it
either you go, either you go when you play it
all out, or stay your ass at home, boy. And
I wouldn't be bad in one bit if I'm sake.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
Ye, What do you do?
Speaker 6 (39:58):
Bro?
Speaker 1 (39:58):
Somebody got to do something.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
Somebody's gotta do Something's running backs gotta do something right,
and it's all like you know what.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
It really depends on what the giants were all for me.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
I'm not signing for lesser Joe Mixon because you don't
want to be Le'Veon Bell, right, I'm not signing for
lesson Joe Mix And I stand on if it wasn't
for Adam Gase, maybe you wouldn't be having this conversation.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
Leybyon Bell would have been great.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
We'll have more football coming up next Tyreek Hills Talking
Big Talk Martin and VJ.

It's the way tire buying should be. You all right,
what's up? Yeah, I'm good, I'm good, I'm going, I'm
hYP I'm just I'm gonna right Today I slammed the table.
It was something I said, No, No, it's about what'll
we have to talk about. That's what it is. I'm
like football season. I was like, no, I promise you,
it's the way tied by should be. I promise. I
love high I rack. They follow me on Twitter. I
(41:10):
mean it.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
Now you are excited right now because we want to
talk about your team going forward right here for the
next couple of minutes. Here we were having the conversation yeah,
with Steve Hartman and carry Roads in between the breaks
here as they ended their show and we began ours,
and the topic was the AFC East. Let's extend that
(41:31):
conversation now. Tyreek Hill Miami Dolphin's wide receiver, and people
looked at me. I said this out loud when he
got traded, and people were like, what top ten deep
threat of all time, all time, all time, all time
right now? If he never plays down on football ever again,
right now, look it up anyways. As great as a
(41:56):
deep threat receiver as he is, he sure does a
lot of discussion as well.
Speaker 5 (42:04):
I would break two thousand yards next year.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
Bro.
Speaker 10 (42:08):
Y'all heard of me just checking off off.
Speaker 1 (42:11):
And all I'm gonna say is.
Speaker 4 (42:12):
Two thousand yards was on my bucket list to get
Bro before I leave his lead. And y'all think that
she is gonna leave without doing something he promised himself
he's gonna do as a as a g I got, y'all, baby, two.
Speaker 1 (42:23):
Thousand yards and another Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (42:25):
We're getting that, Believe that believe that.
Speaker 2 (42:30):
Just to clarify, he said as a jit, meaning a child,
something that he's dreamed of, right, not as a jet
a jet jet a team he will play twice this season.
That is from his podcast which is called UH. Probably
some somewhat ironically it needed to be said because I'm
(42:52):
not one hundred percent sure if it has ever uh
in that way. But Tyrek Kilch says Dolphins one of
the Super Bowl, he's gonna have two thous yards VJ
your thoughts the dessert?
Speaker 1 (43:02):
Now, will I will say this? He said it. Now
he's got to go back it up and don't.
Speaker 4 (43:08):
I won't sit here and I won't make no excuses
for Tyreek not toarreik Tyreek Hill all year long, but
last year put up over seventeen hundred and he did
that would happen to play with three different quarterbacks? Okay,
with three different quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was horrible and Skylard Thompson,
who I actually like and I've watched I watched plenty
(43:28):
of him in Kansas State. I'm a big college football guy.
You guys know that I watch a ton of college football.
I know exactly who Skylar Thompson was and what his
ability was. But he was a rookie six round pick.
You know, hopefully he can give us a little something.
He really gave us nothing when he played in Teddy
Bridgewater was even worse. And this man still last year
one hundred nineteen catches fourteen of pop only seven touchdowns.
I would like to see that go over ten. Would
(43:50):
like to see eleven twelve in that range in seventeen ten.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
He can do this. And I believe if Tua, he's
the big question mark.
Speaker 4 (43:58):
If he plays fifteen told Kerry Rose, this former New
York Jet that was leaving the studio. If he plays
fifteen games, fifteen sixteen games, he's gotta play. That mean
he can't play twelve or thirteen. No, he's got to
play at least fifteen sixteen games. Then Tyreek Hill will
have two thousand yards receivering. You call him the most
the biggest deep threat ball three deep threat top ten
(44:19):
all time. I think he's one of the most top
six or seven most just dangerous offensive weapons ever in
football because it's not just the deep ball. You can
run slip screens, receiver screens, reverses to him. You can
do so much with this guy. You can line him
up in the backfield, just get him the football, give
him a block in a half, which means.
Speaker 1 (44:41):
The second guy. You ain't really gotta block.
Speaker 4 (44:42):
That guy, just getting that guy's way because Tarik's speed
is so much he's gonna run by that guy and
there's no one in the league that can catch him.
Speaker 1 (44:49):
I like that he said this.
Speaker 4 (44:50):
He's basically speaking up for the guys on this team
because this quarterback's a little quiet and Tarik's done. Tyreek's
done a really good job man, in my opinion, you know,
being the talker for his team. We wanted quarterbacks to
be vocal and to be these you know, these animated guys,
and Too is not that guy. But he's got to
receive it. It's like, Hey, don't worry about huno. You
ain't got to do that, Oose. I got you over here.
I'll do the talking after how I'll run my mouth
(45:13):
for us. And I love this And if you don't
do it it, don't do it. But I like the
way that he did it, and I liked that he
said it, and I'm riding with it.
Speaker 3 (45:18):
Man.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
Two K the super Bowl. I'm await, I'm await. I
want to say yeah, but I'm await, I'm await, but
two K, I'm in on that right now. I love
this well. I want to know, though, is you just
made like Tyreek Hill is an incredible deep threat.
Speaker 2 (45:32):
But the thing that I kind of don't get is
where were the jets sweeps, the slip screens?
Speaker 1 (45:40):
Where like, where are the tunnel screams? Where was that?
Speaker 4 (45:45):
Because once I went to Jaylen Wattle last year instead
of instead of Hill.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
Well okay, but Tyreek Hill is a type.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
He has punk return skills as soon as he gets
the ball in space, and that's something that is invaluable,
especially if you can get those guys who are you know,
multiple cut guys who like it just with the incredible speed,
like you just go back and you watch like the
thirteen seconds and against Buffalo.
Speaker 1 (46:11):
It's like, dude, you just got to get this guy
the ball.
Speaker 2 (46:13):
And that was the thing about McDaniel that had me like, man,
what are you doing Mike, Like he's supposed to be
this run game guy. You look at Shanahan or Kyle
Shanahan and especially Jordan Rodery did a great podcast on
trying to get her on the show You Tell Me
about But She did a great podcast on like McVeigh
and Shanahan and McDaniel and that coaching tree and how
(46:35):
Shanahan spams plays. He'll just run the same play over
and over and over again because you'll just keep one
poor linebacker in absolute hell trying to.
Speaker 1 (46:44):
Make the decision of what's supposed to happen.
Speaker 2 (46:46):
Right, And I didn't see that on McDaniel, And I
expected to see more of it, especially in the run game.
But I was kind of I would say, what as
excited whatever I thought we were going to see more
of the type of you know, we saw the San Francisco.
San Francisco runs the ball with the multitude of players
right and in the trade for McCaffrey to get the
(47:06):
guy who's there there Bell cow in there there every down.
But they're not afraid to run Deebo. They're not afraid
to run kettle On even on an end around the
running back they had to depot. But like so, I
just expected, you know, when you saw all the jig,
saw pieces of the puzzle that is making the playoffs
(47:28):
that the Dolphins had on offense, you had Moster's got
great speed, Hill's got great speed, Donald's got great speed, Wilson,
Julia and Gooseki's not slow. You had all these different
movements and options, and I just was kind of I
was a little underwhelmed, honestly by the Dolphins in and
in and out of play calling, like just the way
(47:49):
they're going about it, especially in a playoff game when
it's taken me Dangel forever to get the plays in.
And that's the seventh that's the seventh round quarterback he
got out there. You gotta just you know, you know,
I'm not a very good cook, but I know how
to do salmon. I know how to do shrimp, and
I can make the mess out of some broccoli and
sweet potatoes.
Speaker 1 (48:07):
All right.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
So when I'm in my mom eat healthy. But when
I know, look, when I know I gotta deliver. I'm
not about to say, hey, DJ, you want to come
over Saturday afternoon, I'll make you a pizza.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
You know I'm not gonna do that. You're not making
Tandorian duck, all right, I'm not gonna do that.
Speaker 3 (48:24):
You know.
Speaker 1 (48:24):
I'm not making orange chicken. All right.
Speaker 2 (48:26):
When I am making he's salmon, shrimp, brock, sweet potato,
and it is going to be amazing, all right, that's
what I'm doing. That's what Michael Daniel needed to do.
He had to take all of that list down to
the salmon and shrimp, to broccoli and the sweet potatoes,
and that's all Skylar Thoms that can eat right now.
Speaker 1 (48:45):
That's it, and he didn't do it.
Speaker 2 (48:46):
So we'll see though experiences one of the greatest teachers
as long as it'll get you fired on the way out,
I guess you know exactly right. So but we'll see
what comes from that. But I do think I like
the Dolphins.
Speaker 1 (48:58):
I like the Dolphins a lot to make the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (49:01):
Listen, and you and I both agree on Mike McDaniel's
coaching and his play calling, and I keep it a buck.
I'm a fan, but I always try to be as
honest with my teams and players are like as I can,
and I don't want to sound like irrational radio guy.
I didn't like a lot of his play calling last year,
but I will say this, it felt like to me
in certain games he was trying to prove to people
(49:22):
that to was the guy. So a lot of play
calls we talk about we go back to the Chargers game,
the Herbert, we go back to the Chargers Scatcho Bowl.
They throw on fifteen of the first seventeen plays. They
don't run the football. And if not for Hill, that
danger's player. We talked about a second ago picking up
that fumble out of the scrum and running you know,
(49:44):
wide around and running for a touchdown, Miami might not
even score that night. So I thought he got into
that a little bit, and I think that's part of
that's just human element. Hey, I want to prove my
quarterback can do this, even though I've been talked about
in circles as one of the best, if the best
running coordinator, you know, assistant coaches in the league. But
(50:06):
I got oohs man, and I want to prove the
people that this kid can do it. I want to
help build his confidence up that this year definitely needs
to change. And I think that's why there's a deal
on the table for Cook, and it's up to Cook
whether he wants to take it or not.
Speaker 1 (50:17):
No one knows who the number is.
Speaker 4 (50:18):
No one in Miami can report the number, even camer Wolf,
who I like a lot, who covers the team there.
No one's got the number, but they do know. It's
been said. No we have offered him a deal.
Speaker 1 (50:27):
It's on the table. It's up to him whether he
wants to take it or not.
Speaker 4 (50:30):
But this is the number that we're sitting at, and
I think that's why they're trying to get another back
in where they can say, Okay, now we got a
guy we know who can be the bell cow guy,
and then we can work in some of these other
pieces that we have. They can flex out most or
most are flexed out when he was in San Francisco,
and so did Wilson Junior. So they definitely have to
run the football more this year. Mike mean Dam's definitely
(50:50):
got to change the coaching style. But I believe if
you've run the football more, and I think that's why
he'll threw this out there, because if you run the
football more and you effect as the Dolphins running the football,
you think he'll's not going to be more open than
he was already last year when they really couldn't even
really run the football as well as they wanted to.
One of the worst running football teams offenses in the
(51:12):
league last year, and Tariksto has seventeen to ten.
Speaker 1 (51:15):
You start running the football, Wattle looks bigger. Put on
some muscle, faster. I mean, man, this thing can get
real crazy in Miami.
Speaker 4 (51:25):
And then on the defensive side of the ball, people
want to talk about how bad the defense was. No,
it wasn't sixteenth rank in the year in the league
last year, number three against the rush.
Speaker 1 (51:34):
Go look it up.
Speaker 4 (51:35):
No one could run the football on Miami last year,
you know what I'm saying. So that's gonna return. And
then of course Fangie over there man with Jalen Ramsey
and secondaries all back and Xavin Howard's healthy again? Is
any Howard played hurt all last season?
Speaker 1 (51:48):
So I'm with you.
Speaker 4 (51:49):
They made they win a division, they make the playoffs,
win a division. But this guarantee by Hill. I just
love this man. And I think he said this not
just for himself. He said it for his team. And
I think that coming out of OTA's this, there's a
feeling that, hey, you guys better watch the Dolphins this year.
Braxon Burials another name to throw out there. Another speed guy,
another fast guy that you can use different ways and
(52:12):
in the return game. You know, uh, I know it's
July what fifteenth, fifteenth, but uh, hats off to the
different people around the NFL media who have a putting
stuff out because I know I just mentioned it in passing,
but now I'm gonna take a second to really talk
on it. Because you just mentioned Vic Fangio and the
(52:32):
influence that he's had, well, the influence that you expected
to have in Miami. You got you gotta go search
on your phone for the podcast to the Athletic Football
Show and listen to this play callers you specifically VJ.
Speaker 1 (52:46):
Gotta do it.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
You gotta hear McDaniel and the way he talks in
his process and to the point advantage you're gonna you
are going to Texas, You're going to love you.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
You gotta look that up.
Speaker 2 (52:57):
And I highly encourage everybody listening to me if you're
in if you're a football nerd and the ins and
outs of it. Don't get me wrong, it's high level,
like it's high level football nerd stuff, but if you're
into it, I would highly recommend it. What I also
would highly recommend is Quarterback on Netflix. We'll talk about
(53:17):
that in just a moment. Patrick Mahomes Kirk cousins Marcus
Mario that follows them all around the twenty twenty two seas.
Speaker 1 (53:25):
Marcus is the third quarterback on it.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
Oh yeah, we'll get to that and just a moment
and Martin to bj Bross by Progressive Insurance. Progressive makes
buddling easy and affordable. Get a multiprolacy discount by combining
your motorcycle RV, but ATV and more. Oh, you're protection
in one place, bundle and sabe at Progressive dot Com.
Martin VJA, coming to your line from the Tirack dot
com studios.
Speaker 4 (53:48):
Now I can only think about the little Asian girl
and rush Hour that's in the back of the car,
bea taking the school singing this song. I can't ever
get that out of my head every time I see it.
Hear this song right before June Tower came and got her. Yeah,
tow we're thinking for June Town. I watch that movie
last week. Oh man, I love those you know, shooting
(54:08):
for now, right are they?
Speaker 1 (54:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (54:10):
Shooting for I didn't know shooting for what's the name?
That's something might carries, So I can't No, I can't
think of the actual name of the song.
Speaker 7 (54:16):
This is fantas By the way, What's what's Chris Tucker
been up to? Just pulling him out for this.
Speaker 4 (54:22):
Chilling on his rush hour money rich? Yeah, because those
Moneys were making He did a sit down interview once time.
He talked about the check he got from the like
the Chinese market theaters compared to his American checks he
were getting.
Speaker 1 (54:36):
Imagine dude it was, he said. Yeah, He's like, yeah,
and I'm American checks. I was by sneakers.
Speaker 7 (54:41):
That's that Starberry effect.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
Yeah. Yeah. Well, also I imagine Jackie Chance, you can't
do it that. I would guess. I think he might
have been a draw, you know, my fan. One of
my favorite parts of that we know it's Jackie chan.
Speaker 2 (54:54):
I just say, you know, you never know at the
very beginning when he shoots, when he's just in downtown
Los Angeles, the buying and exchanging C four and he
starts shooting.
Speaker 1 (55:02):
Sorry if I'm ruining this for anybody.
Speaker 2 (55:04):
He starts shooting and he blows up the car and
he does that dance he turned and falls up and
Michael Jackson, I do that dance all the time. Yeah,
but it wasn't the Michael Jackson dance. To me, it
was the Chris Tucker. Was the Chris Oh really, it
was the Chris Tucker Rush Hour dance.
Speaker 4 (55:19):
Well, best Michael Jackson impression has ever has been as
far as celebrity goes, has been Chris Tucker. That guy
in that scene too, that's Sean Pinn's brother. That the
big dude that was in the car trying to something
to see four. Yeah, that was a great legendary actor,
Sean Pinn. That's his baby brother.
Speaker 2 (55:33):
So while you're on Netflix looking at rush Hour, you
might have seen it. Quarterback is also on Netflix. It's apparently,
you know, And I don't believe this, And I'm glad
now the WJA strike is going on and right now
because I want to see the numbers, because I'm they
gotta be lying sometimes with that this is the top
ten in the United States. I refuse to believe that,
(55:55):
like this random movie from twenty fourteen has is so
so across the country that it's sixed on my Netflix algorithm,
first of all. But I do happen to believe that
Quarterback was number one. It's the story they're following around
Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Merio throughout the season.
And VJ you said you haven't seen it. I'm telling
(56:16):
you right now you will like Patrick Mahomes so much
more after you watch the eight episodes of this mini
series than you did. However you feel about him right now,
whatever that feeling is.
Speaker 4 (56:30):
You will like him after watch it. He has a
punch able face. It's like the joke I like to say, aboy,
he just does just something about him. But listen, and
I'll be honest with you guys. When I watch it,
I'll come back and tell you guys, whether I feel
different about him or I don't. I won't lie, and
I won't make it up if I feel like I
was right, mar I do die. I kind of like
him a little bit now. I kind of like I'm
like that with Bronnie.
Speaker 10 (56:49):
Right.
Speaker 4 (56:50):
I'm not a lebron guy. I don't like Lebron at all,
but for some reason, I like Bronnie James. I like
Ronnie James though, but I like it. But I like
Bronnie James, you know, And until he does something that
I don't like, then we'll see how that goes. But
I'm definitely looking forward to checking this out. I heard
about it, but I wanted to see if some other
people had saw it and just get their opinion. When
I came in and asked you guys about it, and
(57:10):
you all three everybody's oh, dude, its greatest dope. You'll
you'll you'll like it. So if you guys tell me
I like it, then great. I'll definitely check it out
tonight while I'm chilling out'll be my binge. I'll be
my bench for tonight though. But you guys had a
question about what was it bredon?
Speaker 11 (57:26):
Go ahead, Brandon, Oh, well, we have it on right
now because we have a smart TV now.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (57:30):
Anyway, and the question was it was Witch three. If
they were to do a season three, Yeah, okay, you're
casting director, which three quarterbacks would you like to see
for a season two?
Speaker 1 (57:42):
And I would say, if you haven't seen this yet,
it's in depth. It's in depth. You're there. You start
seeing Marcus.
Speaker 2 (57:52):
Mario to hold his newborn child after like what seemingly
was minutes to hours after the birth.
Speaker 1 (57:58):
You know what I'm saying, Like like you're in there.
Kirk Cousins is.
Speaker 2 (58:03):
Reading to his kids in the bed and they're You're
in there with him and Tanner and Cooper, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (58:10):
So you really you're really in it, You're really locked in.
Speaker 2 (58:15):
And uh, I personally I would I'd love to see
Joe Joe Burrow could but be could he projects as
such a cool guy like Joe.
Speaker 1 (58:24):
You know what I'm saying. He seems to be so cool.
Speaker 2 (58:26):
There's a lot of us to do with his play,
but he would be boring though. I think the danger
is he's single. Yeah, that's the that's the whole of you.
You look at the Mahomes, Mariota, and Kirk Cousins. They're
all in very not necessarily very public, but they're all married.
And Mahomes is more public than the other two, but
they're all You listen to Kirk Cousins after every other
(58:48):
press count.
Speaker 1 (58:49):
You know, my wife dresses me.
Speaker 4 (58:51):
You know, while Philip Rivers and his wife is expecting
child number ten, there must be a race between, not
between There's got to be a race between Philip Rivers Usher.
Speaker 1 (59:10):
Not Usher.
Speaker 4 (59:10):
I'm sorry, Nick Cannon and Eddie Murphy. Eddie Murphy's got
ten and now Nick Cannon's got twelve or thirteen I
believe it is, and now Philip and his wife now
have ten. I got three that I was like, man
one of my guys exactly pretty much in the Canadian
Football League. Well, look all these guys can set up
(59:32):
a five on five basketball game with their own with
their own children. But one guy I got a single,
so I might mark him off, but I would like
to see, uh maybe like a Jalen Hurts on this.
I think Jalen Hurts even though he's single. I dude,
there's a lot of interest there. And it's Philly, you
know what I'm saying that the market itself, Gino Smith
right there, Gino is Smith. With as much as he's
(59:54):
been through Seattle, Pete Carroll, you know, even the guys,
even the teams they're going against. There's a lot of
characters over there too, so you're getting all of that.
And then of course my man Oos, my man Uno
down in South Beach, down in Florida, with the beloved
Mighty Miami Dolphins now married, you know, so there's the
family aspect then. But with everything he's been through, with
(01:00:16):
the concussions, with the belief, with McDaniel being there for him,
with the other characters around him being Tyreek Hill and
Waddle and Christian Wilkins and those type of guy, I
think those three would definitely be three that I would
love to see in a season two.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
I'll tell you what, Man Kirk Cousins does a lot
of interesting things throughout the week, but I think the
most interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
No football on Tuesday, he said.
Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
In the regular week, two week schedule, he just takes
Tuesday off like on a Sunday to Sunday schedule.
Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
I looked at that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
I was like, you're serious, and he's like, you know,
some of my color my coaches had a thing about it.
It was a little weird. Yeah, I just don't know
if I would have said that. Yeah, but he goes
to the whole thing about how that's when he spends
this time with his wife and all this. I'm just like, bro,
you couldn't have turned the film on at night.
Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
No, no, no, no, Sometimes you have to listen. I
don't believe, do you guys believe every great player is
just twenty four seven? Look, Jordan was in casinos, gambling,
drinking and smoking cigars. Okay, he was not watching film
of the Detroit Pistons or the Portland Trailblazers in the finals,
or with the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (01:01:24):
Remember there was the thing where he's playing the Knicks.
Speaker 4 (01:01:25):
He left New York and went down to Atlantic City
in the middle of a playoff series and lost one
hundred and fifty thousand dollars at the tables. So I
think that there's guys that take time away in season,
take a day for themselves, this idea that you know,
a Brady or even a Kobe, they're just so sucked
in twenty four seven. Oh dude, trust me, you can't
(01:01:46):
be that way. They're just not gonna let you know
it to your point. Maybe Kirk, but I think he's
now the veteran that's like, all right, there's nothing what
works can be said about him, right, either you like
him or you don't at this point, so might as
well just tell y'all what it is and be real
with it.
Speaker 1 (01:01:59):
So I like to transport. So I'm excited to watch
it tonight. Man.
Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
Yeah, I just I was like, really, yeah, there's no
Tuesday for you, miss mister uh mister, one playoff win
in your career.
Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
See, and that's what it's like, that's what people are
gonna do. That's what people are gonna do. No one days.
Why he hasn't come on, That's not what I said.
I just said, Oh you don't.
Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
You just you just been riding out just having Tuesday off,
Like I get the tuesdays an off day but I'll
just say it like this. I think I watched the
whole thing. You see, these guys are spending plenty of
time with their family. You look like all Tuesdays Marcus
Marioda and his wife were going over play calls, right, like, seriously,
I'm not young, Like you know, look at Patrick Ohon's
like he's nick pick at that he's outa that ain't helping.
Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
That ain't helping Mariota. But you know what it is.
You know what it is. You know what it is.
It's not not football. It's not nothing about football.
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
It's not not you're doing your job in the seventeen
weeks in which if you're expected to, like, you know,
you want Tuesday off, why.
Speaker 1 (01:02:55):
Don't you take the entire offseason. That's what it's come on,
that's not he he on, It's Tuesday, give him Tuesday.
Wait till you see it in this Do you guys know.
Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
Not I feel about CURTI maybe you feel definitely about
it on Tuesday or that playoff game. Going forward, he
had studied a little bit and game throwing the ball
to JJ who was double covered, just throwing the.
Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
Ball to him.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
He's got two initials anyway, Nick Coche, Man, I'll tell
you what these baseball I've been watching it. The defense optional,
all open in place everywhere. I mean, I'm looking at
the Orioles running over the balls, the Braves just not
catch the ball against the White Sox. I'll just look,
defense is completely optional today, I guess the Major League
Baseball with the couple out of the scores and popefully
some of these errors as well.
Speaker 1 (01:03:36):
What's going on, man?
Speaker 7 (01:03:36):
Yeah, what's going on?
Speaker 1 (01:03:37):
Guys?
Speaker 9 (01:03:37):
We got a lot of scores to run through here
real quick. Let's go p Andres and Phillies. It's two
to one in the fifth inning. That's Game two of
a double header. Phillies took Game one, six of four,
but Manny Machano hit his three hundredth career home run
in that one. Royle is on top of the Rays
two to one. That is also game two of a
double header. Raise took the first one, six to one.
Jose Sirie homer twice for Tampa. Jians and Pirates tied
(01:04:01):
at one as they head of the fourth inning, Marlins
leading the Orioles five to three. In the fifth, Marlins
had a four to nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:04:07):
Lead in that one.
Speaker 9 (01:04:08):
Twins leading the A seven to four in the fifth.
That one, at one point was six to nothing Minnesota.
The A's have fought back. Brewers and Reds finally underway
after a long rain delay in Cincinnati, and for the
Brewers a solo shot from Kristin Yelich they get on
the board in the first inning.
Speaker 1 (01:04:24):
Dodgers and Mets delayed.
Speaker 9 (01:04:26):
About an hour due to rain in Queens, but they
are now scoreless into the third inning. Similarly, Nationals and
Cardinals reign in Saint Louis, but they are underway no
score in the first inning. They also played earlier today,
they had to complete a game from last night that
they couldn't finish due to rain seven to five.
Speaker 7 (01:04:42):
Nationals won in ten innings.
Speaker 9 (01:04:43):
Earlier today, you also got the White Sox and Braves
tied at three in the fourth. White Sox built a
three to nothing lead, but Eddie Rosario and Ronaldcunya Junior
each hit home runs for Atlanta to draw even. Yankees
and Rockies tied at one in the second. So got
the Astros and Angels coming out, and then the Tigers
and Mariners still to come. Other finals from earlier. Cubs
(01:05:04):
will out the Red Sox ten to four. He had
a grand slam of that one for Cody Bellinger. Blue
Jays cruise pass the Dbacks five to two and the
Rangers shut out the Guardians two to nothing. Earlier, at Wimbledon,
an upset for the Women's championship, Marquette von Droseva down
six seed one jabbur her first major title. Vondroseva is
the first unseeded woman to ever win Wimbledon. They also
(01:05:26):
have in golf Roy McRoy. He's got a one shot
lead at the end of the third round at the
Scottish Open. American Century Championship in Tahoe. Steph Curry at
the top of the leaderboard. He had a hole in
one earlier today on the par three seventh, his second
hole in one ever. And then in college sports, additional
punishment coming to life for the Tennessee football program. They'll
have to vacate their eleven wins across the twenty nineteen
(01:05:48):
and twenty twenty SEASONSKYS back to you.
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
Thanks Nick Martin Bridal Martin, MBD, coming to you live
from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Speaker 4 (01:05:57):
What was that rocky top the addition, you know, punishment
for form for Tennessee. There I knew something else was
coming because when they got hit with the first thing
earlier this week, it's like, nah, it's a little tap
on the wrist. They're gonna take some wins away. But
you know what's so silly about that? Okay, so eleven
wins from nineteen to twenty, who gives a damn?
Speaker 12 (01:06:17):
Like?
Speaker 1 (01:06:17):
Who cares? Like, Okay, well you didn't have those wins.
Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
It went like they won even the SEC their division,
or won the SEC championship or went to the national
like there was a Gator Bowl that was it. Yeah, exactly,
do anything. So it's like, oh wow, God that Gator Bowl. Damn,
we're gonna miss that in our history. No, I just
you're punish tax layer do now? Yeah, exact exactly. That
(01:06:40):
is that the sponsor of it.
Speaker 1 (01:06:41):
Now they want their money back. The game never happened, exactly,
That was sponsorship money back, Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
Speaking of trying to get a refund, you think the
Giants might want a refund on Daniel Jones' offseason, like you,
I mean, because look, there's gotta be like talking about
I just want respect, And I think what he's talking
about when he says I won't respect, it's like I
want to be able to be paid to like like
I am the best billyer on this offense far and away.
Speaker 4 (01:07:10):
That maybe that's the respect that he's talking about. No,
that is the respect that he's talking about. And it's
it's wild what's going on here? And they haven't till Monday.
They haven't until Monday four pm Eastern time. So I'll
definitely be clicking refresh at about twelve thirty, twelve forty
five here on the West coast are beautiful Los Angeles
seeing if they got a deal done. He's not going
to play on the franchise tag. I wouldn't show up.
(01:07:32):
If I were him, I say, okay, fine, I'm not
coming to camp and I'll miss I'll miss week one.
Let's see what happens when Daniel Jones Danny Dimes, who
basically got a forty million dollar contract this year per
year for fifteen touchdown passes. Let's just call it what
it is here. Let me give you guys a little
number here when Sa Kwan Barkley and Daniel Jones are
in the field together, they're seventeen, forty one and seventeen
(01:07:56):
as far as his touchdowns to interceptions with the y
one point four. So you said, when Daniel Jones and
Saquan are on the field at the same time, dj
has forty one touchdowns to seventeen interceptions, exactly, Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
When they're not on the field.
Speaker 4 (01:08:10):
When when when Jones is just on the field and
there's no Saquon, he had sixteen touchdowns and seventeen interceptions,
and this rating drops down to seventy seven.
Speaker 1 (01:08:20):
Hello, I'm a still one from Rob Parker. Hello, is
this thing on? Is this Hello? Is this thing? What
are you doing? New York?
Speaker 4 (01:08:28):
And Trust we all sat here and said this. We
do the show every week with be It since October
when this deal went down. We're like, wow, Daniel Jones
forty million dollars a year, Okay, wow, Dabo, you gave
dan Bo pralay. Hey, dabel got him paid, and he
did because it just made Dabels the type of coach
that made you look good but you just kind of
weren't really good. And now you're stuck in this in
(01:08:50):
this tie up here where the guy that you're gonna
need on offense, there's not one defensive coordinator going into
a game against the New York Football Giants who is saying, man,
I'm gonna have a sleepless week this night because I
gotta face Daniel Jones. Not one, but you do say, hey,
we got some work to put in, guys. Because that
(01:09:12):
back that he could turn and pitch it to or
hand it to her, they could throw it two out
of the backyard. That guy is back from the ACL.
That guy's the goods. That guy's for real. This is
who we have to watch. They had the year they
had last year because of Saquon, not because of Daniel Jones.
Speaker 2 (01:09:23):
I mean, let's be real. Took not not a ton,
but he took snaps at quarterback. Oh yeah, I'm sorry,
like direction. I remember like wildcat, like he was playing
wildcat quarterback at a certain point in time.
Speaker 1 (01:09:38):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
And I get you went in there and you want
a playoff game. You beat Kirk Cousins. That's also in
the court in the Quarterback Show. You'll see that soon.
But it's still like, have you seen your offense? Have
you seen what brings you success? Can you don't have
thirteen million dollars for Saquan because I think that.
Speaker 1 (01:09:59):
Gets it done. Do you know what I'm saying? I
don't think think eleven might get it. I think would
get it, But I mean, like I get it.
Speaker 2 (01:10:05):
You don't want to pay twenty five million dollars, all right, yeah, okay,
we right, Yeah, I think everybody gets that. But you
gotta at least make a commensurate to the are You
look around you, you look at Joe Mixon, You tell him, Joe,
Joe to signed for forming a dollar. He's like, well,
look at the offensive pieces around Joe Mixon, right, shouldn't
(01:10:26):
even come close to that.
Speaker 10 (01:10:28):
He had.
Speaker 1 (01:10:30):
There were so many receiver injuries in New York. They're
talking about the turf, and they bleue picks too, and
they blew free agent moves. They blue whatever happened with
Dariusbody say you'll see him at quarterback scoring touchdowns for
the Chiefs first round picking in New York. And then
they screwed up the Galaday signing. They gave galadaated a
seventy million dollar contract and it just never. It's just never,
(01:10:52):
and it really did set back their their their receiver cord.
But just real quick, no, Saquon open with Dallas at Arizona,
that's a dub. But at San Francisco home against Seattle,
at Miami, at Buffalo home against Washington have fun with
no Saquan, I legitimately have fun.
Speaker 2 (01:11:09):
I really truly fall especially when the first two years
my career went. The way I am now and the
way I feel like the in shape he's in, I
wouldn't say I might sit bro I might shit the
ear out. I might shit the euro well, because like
I guess what what is the other option? Like I
(01:11:29):
go in here and I get tagged or or like this,
you're gonna play it out like it's thankning to sit
out week one, so you come back week three, week
four is you're not in shape, You're not gonna have
been in football shape.
Speaker 1 (01:11:41):
You're not gonna be.
Speaker 2 (01:11:42):
Everybody else is gonna be two three games into the season.
They'll have to, but it's just everybody's gonna take time
to get up to speed. But you know, as soon
as you see twenty six in white on the field,
you're gonna be okay.
Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
Where is the production? As well? You should because that's
what you're.
Speaker 2 (01:11:58):
When he's on the field, is what you So if
you're gonna if he's not going to be a full
participant from training camp on, I would not be a
participant in any offendity.
Speaker 1 (01:12:07):
So yeah, okay, so if I don't show up, either
do it or don't.
Speaker 4 (01:12:10):
If I don't show up next week, because they report
next week I think the twenty fifth or twenty fourth.
So if he don't report then and they don't get
the deal done, you're saying, listen.
Speaker 2 (01:12:18):
I'll give him a window a little bit, maybe a
little little training camp, but like, can't come into this season.
Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
He's got to do everything he's done the last two seasons.
This season right here.
Speaker 4 (01:12:29):
Hate hold outs, I don't care who. I hate hold
outs guy. I think it sets the team back. Anybody,
any player. I think it sets the team back.
Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
What setting the damn team back is not paying the
reason he made the playoffs for the first time and
however long, that's what's setting.
Speaker 1 (01:12:41):
The team back. That's why he's not there.
Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
It's it's very you know what I'm saying, it's a
very reasonable two plus two is four. You think, barkle,
you want to talk about a face to the franchise
type of guy.
Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:12:57):
He looks great, he sounds great, He doesn't do anything,
doesn't piss anybody off, doesn't bother anybody. All he does
is go out there and run hard. The first two
years of his career, couldn't pass back to save his life.
Now he's every down back. Yep, So what I just
don't get it.
Speaker 4 (01:13:13):
Two of their first six on the road, so they
start two and four, You better pick up the phone.
Two of their first six at Arizona, at San Francisco,
at Miami, and up there in Orchard Park against Buffalo
for their for their first six on the in Dallas
at home, in Seattle at home. That's to start their season.
(01:13:35):
I think you need to get this done, do you So?
Do you think it gets done by Monday?
Speaker 3 (01:13:40):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (01:13:41):
Okay, So then we're going into we're going to the
camp hold out. I think it doesn't get done. I
agree with you, it won't get done Monday. But what
I think happens, it gets done by the second preseason game.
I think it gets the once you get the guys
out there, you get him in full pads and you
start doing joint practicing and you start hitting. And I know, preseason,
but once they see some of these backups maybe not performing,
(01:14:03):
and you see you need this guy, and then it
starts to create a distraction because you can only go
we're only gonna talk about the players that's here. You
can only say that so many times. But reporters are
gonna keep asking. They're gonna want to find out. Now
you got them asking your teammates, So now a teammates
to get an ax. This now your other players. It's
it's a distraction. You just don't want two things. Every
(01:14:24):
head coach wants going into training camp. They want all
of the best. Basically, they're fifty three. They probably know
they're gonna keep You need all those guys there in
healthy and nobody's holding out. It takes all the distractions away.
You can just work and talk about football, not contracts,
not this, not that no coach wants this. Man, the Giants,
this is this is bad for them. I do think Martin.
(01:14:45):
I'll say it'll get done by the second week of August.
He won't miss the regular he won't miss the regular season.
Speaker 1 (01:14:50):
I just know this, if that stand on it, bro
because I don't I don't imagine that that. Uh I.
Speaker 10 (01:15:00):
He will.
Speaker 2 (01:15:01):
He'll be signed by somebody else at the end. You
know what I'm saying, Like, it's not like like if
he just doesn't play next year. It's not like year
a year after that. He's just Oh, nobody's going on,
is not gonna sign him exactly. So coming up next,
we have Uncle Vjay's Corner on Fox Sports Radio, Martin
and VJ. Martin and VJ coming to your life from
the tire rack dot Com studios.
Speaker 1 (01:15:22):
Now, time for Uncle v Jay's Corner. All right, everybody
get her a rod. It's that time of the week.
Oh man, it's that time of the day. I'm telling y'all.
Speaker 6 (01:15:32):
Man, Yes, it's time for everyone's favorite huncle.
Speaker 1 (01:15:37):
Hey, you add the cherry on the top.
Speaker 6 (01:15:39):
It's time for Uncle Vjay's Corner.
Speaker 1 (01:15:43):
Yes or yes or yes?
Speaker 6 (01:15:45):
Er?
Speaker 1 (01:15:47):
What up?
Speaker 4 (01:15:47):
Everybody out there checking out Martin VJ on the beautiful
Saturday here in Los Angeles, California. I am young Uncle
VJ and Big Vanilla Funny. Y'all come on over here
and have us see this hot I got some lemonade
and some shade over here so we can be cool.
Hunded is unbrother inn shade right here. Man, y'all know
me always chilling on Vanilla Drive and Handsome Avenue for
Uncle Vj's corn. I got a special one for you
(01:16:08):
guys today. This hit me the other day. Man, So
I want to tell you about a gentleman that I
have a lot of respect for, and I appreciate what
he's doing not only in his career, but for other
people's career and for the business that I loved so
freaking much. He was born back on January twent tenth
and nineteen sixty four from Queens, New York. He's from Queens.
(01:16:30):
You know that's where ll cool J fromk run DMC.
You know what I'm saying, cool urk all them dudes.
He's from the same area, went off to and graduated
from from the Martin Van Buren High School in Queens Village,
then went on to get a BS and journalism from
Southern Connecticut State University. Has a master's from Columbia. So
the man, you know, he did his ivy lead thing
over there. I've seen him get more procest at school
(01:16:52):
than Southern Connecticut. Make sure you get something to get
they love. But I get what you do when you.
Speaker 1 (01:16:56):
Do your thing with Columbia.
Speaker 4 (01:16:58):
He's also a professor over at the First School of Journalism.
Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
At the UFC. And let's go back a little bit
at what this man has done.
Speaker 4 (01:17:05):
He was the first black sports columnist at the Detroit
Free Press back in nineteen ninety three. He was the
first black sports columnist at Newsday in New York City
in nineteen ninety five. He's worked for the Detroit News,
The Times Leader in Wilkes Barry, Pennsylvania, The Daily News
in New York, and the Cincinnati Inquirer. He's not just
(01:17:26):
a journalist. This man's done some radio in his life too,
you guys. Hear him every day Monday through Friday here
from four to seven. In LA seven to ten back Geas,
he had a show called Parker and the Man with
Mark Wilson. They ran that for ten years.
Speaker 1 (01:17:37):
Wows. I hope Martin VJ runs for ten years.
Speaker 4 (01:17:40):
He's also done ESPN Radio New York, had a show there,
and also I mentioned he's on the yacht a couple
here with Chris Brusard. The man also has got a barbershop,
and that touches me because I'm a barber by trade.
On the side, y'all, I do a lot of different things.
I've been cutting hadscause I'm like twelve years old, messing
up me and my friends here in the neighborhood all
the time. Patching hands and messing up hairlines until I
got my skills to get. But I love a good
(01:18:01):
barbershop man. This calls forty cuts his back in seven
Mile Row back in Detroit, and it has been there
since two thousand and two, so obviously the man knows
what he's doing with his business. It's also been on
TV host of a sports show called Sports Rap on
wad L with Ron Printon Detroit. He was on WDTV
in Detroit back in ninety three. Numbers Never Lie with
Michael Smith. I've seen him on First Take, contributor on
(01:18:24):
Colin Undisputed. And this August next month, he will be
inducted into the NABJ Journalism Hall of Fame in Birmingham, Alabama.
I won't be able to be there, but I'm sure
it's gonna be great. The reason why I bring all
this up and bringes this gentleman up because I saw
something that I thought was outstanding. I'm not a big
all star guy when it comes to baseball.
Speaker 1 (01:18:40):
I kind of left it.
Speaker 4 (01:18:40):
About five to six years ago. The Derby everything got
really old to me. But the last few years and
then with my co hosts here putting me on with
the MLB dot com app I am back into baseball,
and I saw mlbbro dot com get so much love
in Seattle players putting that hats on, all the pictures
with Dave Winfield and all the other legendary people that
have so so much respect for this gentleman and the
(01:19:02):
type of respect that I have fro him, because, as
if I mentioned when I first started Uncle Vj's Corner,
I'm not a taker.
Speaker 1 (01:19:07):
I'm a giver.
Speaker 4 (01:19:08):
So I like people who give back to the industry
that they're in, and in my opinion, other than mister
Mike Hill and this gentleman right here, there's nobody that's
giving me more in this industry and everybody else that
he's touched. Just look at the fifty sixty something people
that on mlbbro dot com and they're doing great work there.
He knows this ain't no suck up. He knows I'm
far from the kiss as I'm meaning this from my heart,
(01:19:30):
I'm so proud of what this gentleman is doing. I
appreciate what this gentleman is doing, and it's putting a
lot of love and putting a lot of people that
look like me on that bigger networks would never probably
give a shot to mister Rob Parker and I want
to gross you at your birthday party in Vegas.
Speaker 1 (01:19:45):
Don't leave me out it, don't leave me out. You know,
I'll keep it light on you. Don't think of moving
to Mexico.
Speaker 4 (01:19:53):
You are the vanilla brother of the week. I appreciate
you and we love you. Homework up and down like that. Playoffs?
Speaker 1 (01:20:02):
Yeah, uh, that Mexico one was legendary. I can't that
was really one of his worst ones. I'm moving to Mexico.
Brady was the Super Bowl. He's Shoyotani. Does he get traded?
BJ says maybe not. We'll have more on that coming
up next. It's an odd couple side piece. I'm a
little moist right now.
Speaker 6 (01:20:21):

the way tire buying should be. I was about to
talk about Shootani, but Nick Koke just completely ruined what
we have playing. Yeah, he just completely ruined. I mean,
I know it's your first time working with us right now,
but you can't throw out a Lebron anecdote like that
at the end of an update nis fact that this
(01:21:00):
guy is gonna do anything else.
Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
But I'm just trying to keep you on your toes.
Speaker 9 (01:21:03):
Guys, Come on, no, apparently it's it's out of respect
for Bill Russell. The league retired number six, and Lebron's
thought was I'm gonna wear it this last season. Yes,
and now he's going back to twenty three since six
is done. That's that's the story.
Speaker 4 (01:21:17):
Bs BS total bs. No, I'm going on a rig.
Just give me thirty seconds. They look like you what
you've done. This is your fault July.
Speaker 1 (01:21:26):
Fifteenth, and now we get a Lebron This is your fault. No,
why you want attention, So I'm gonna give you attention.
Speaker 7 (01:21:31):
This is this problem.
Speaker 4 (01:21:32):
You want attention right because no one's talking about you.
Let's get real. Have we talked about him honestly since
the season ended?
Speaker 1 (01:21:38):
Have we said a word?
Speaker 4 (01:21:39):
It has been dame hardened. All the free agency. Free agency,
no one made us sound. The Lakers got talked about
because they kept Rudy and they kept somebody their other player.
Speaker 1 (01:21:49):
No one mentioned Lebron. He wasn't being talked about. So
let me now, Oh my god, they're not talking about me.
I'm the king, I'm the choseness. The other night at
the spe they can me me me. And not only that,
I'll give you that about the squeeze.
Speaker 4 (01:22:03):
Oh so what we'll do this time is, well, thank you,
use my family and listen, Savannah is gorgeous. I told
y'all I messed with Brownie. I think Bryce is gonna
be a beast. Zuri is so beautiful. I'm a girl dad,
I got daughters, so I'm never gonna hate on that.
But then listen, just lose my family and let's put
them up there because it'll make me look you know.
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
Yeah, dude, stop and everybody jumped on this. The next day.
Speaker 4 (01:22:29):
You can go to dam Patrick, you can go to Colline,
you can go to anybody, and people never even fans
of them, We're like, yeah, this, dude, this is this
is a little cringey. They lucky for you, Lucky for you, guys,
Lucky for all of you. I ain't gonna play a game.
Speaker 9 (01:22:42):
Oh wow, I'm looking around the studio for more gasoline,
but I can't find it.
Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
No, because dude, everybody knows I can.
Speaker 2 (01:22:51):
This the biggest fish, the flame, you know, the Olympics,
and I think this goes and goals.
Speaker 1 (01:22:56):
That's that there, ago right.
Speaker 4 (01:22:57):
The biggest fraudulent, fake major superstar there has ever been
in pro sports.
Speaker 1 (01:23:03):
Is he a great basketball player? Yes? Is he one
of the top five arcist guys I've ever seen my eyes? Yes,
I'm not that fan.
Speaker 4 (01:23:09):
But all this lame crap you do that makes the
narcissists show and be Oh my god, he's gonna change
his number.
Speaker 1 (01:23:15):
Oh well, I warned for Bill Russell.
Speaker 4 (01:23:17):
Then why the hell you ain't say that back then?
Then when you chose six interview, say that now it's oh,
you know, I wore friend in.
Speaker 1 (01:23:24):
Respect for for Bill Russell. Man, Oh my god, dude,
this dude. I can't. I just can't. I'm serious. I'm
just and I get tired of your hater. Yeah hater.
Speaker 10 (01:23:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:23:36):
No, I having a pain and I'm watching a dude
do lane lane stuff and I'm gonna call it out, bro,
Like if it was my homeboy, I would be like, hey, man,
like chill. You'll have to keep telling everybody you to
go like if that's how you feel, that's how you feel.
Speaker 1 (01:23:47):
You know why?
Speaker 4 (01:23:48):
Oh you some of you like me, and I know
some of you hate me, but you will respect me.
And really, you're gonna tell me what the hell I'm
gonna respect and appreciate? Now, are you kidding me?
Speaker 5 (01:23:58):
Dude?
Speaker 13 (01:23:59):
Danny and the didn't he say I want my respect?
Jeanie wants her respect, the Lakers want nobody's disrespecting Genie.
Nobody's disrespecting the Lakers. Rob Polka wants it. You just
threw robbing and the bus and you know what, let
me you know what, I want my damn respect. Listen, hey, listen,
(01:24:24):
do you see what you did? The man changed his
jersey number.
Speaker 1 (01:24:28):
That's all. That's it, That's all you that I mean.
If you're gonna put something like that in an update, Coach,
you gotta put it in the middle because I would
have missed it if it was in the midday. You gotta.
Speaker 9 (01:24:42):
Lebron's changing his number and Pirates and Giants one on
one day exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
You gotta slide in there with the E R S
RB I all right, because if you just you know,
then then he'll look everyone Lebron James got a two
point three all right?
Speaker 3 (01:24:56):
What know?
Speaker 1 (01:24:59):
Yeah, man, I'm I'm good on this guy.
Speaker 4 (01:25:01):
It's just so yeah, he's a better guy here at
l A. I much rather talk about than the gentleman
that just makes it all about him all the time.
Speaker 1 (01:25:14):
Nobody else.
Speaker 4 (01:25:14):
I'm not selling down nothing so well show Halani Lebron.
Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
At the risk of uh, you know, I'm gonna leave
the studio after I say this. But Mike Malone did
make fun of him, matter all of them. That's because
he threw that after the championship. The championship run was
a lot of a lot of talk about Lebron, you know,
while I was in the South of France with Freymond Green.
Speaker 1 (01:25:37):
You know why he was you know why, you know
why Michael. Nobody was talking about it, Mike, not Michael
a few days.
Speaker 4 (01:25:44):
And that's because he threw out there and the last
and and and George so Donald actually put this out
on a round the horn the other day. What they
didn't tell you about the I got a lot to
think about this year. Lebron's little cryptic I might retire.
It was the last question, so the person on the
side just running an interview goes last question. Got so
at the end of his answer, he threw that out there,
so he knew no reporter can ask a follow up question,
(01:26:06):
so it would just be left out there for everyone
to think about. Let's not talk about how I just
got my ass kicked and got swept. I got a
lot to think about my future this offseat. Have a
good day, guys, come on, come on, guys, like and
so Donald put that out there, and that's.
Speaker 1 (01:26:23):
Why he So Donald didn't have to put that out there.
Speaker 2 (01:26:25):
If you've watched press conferences, you've seen the last question
thing before, and you've seen Lebron of the last twenty years.
He's he's pretty good at doing this whole reporter media stuff.
Man like I don't know, he's been doing it since
he was seventeen.
Speaker 4 (01:26:38):
I'm sorry, guys, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that
to come out. I'm sorry, you're not It's for you,
Sorr because this football season and I want to talk
about Oltani because he's a much better person here in
LA to talk about them. Lebron James lying again saying
he's changing his number because shut up.
Speaker 2 (01:26:53):
Dude, friendon dead think a good point to me off
while you were in the middle of whatever or whatever
that was that word you like to use, so I
always mess soliloquilary soliloquy there.
Speaker 8 (01:27:05):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:27:06):
He initially changed from six in Miami to twenty three.
I'm sorry he literally changed for twenty three in LA
to six because Anthony Davis was twenty three when he
was in New Orleans and when they made the trade,
they were trying to get it to where he could
be twenty three and uh and.
Speaker 1 (01:27:27):
In LA.
Speaker 2 (01:27:27):
Yes, but they couldn't do it because now he had
already started printing the jerseys, so they couldn't make the
jersey swap.
Speaker 1 (01:27:33):
They couldn't make the number change. But but but it
was for Bill Russell though, thank you for giving me that.
But it was for Bill Russell. Yeah, show Hey, I
don't care, I'm leaving goodbye. You said it a few times.
He actually technically is not in Los Angeles. That's still well. No,
you heard what the Marjory said last week.
Speaker 2 (01:27:55):
As soon as they changed the name to Los Angeles,
everything went down up because it's not in Los Angeles.
Speaker 7 (01:27:59):
C is Anaheim, Orange County. You make the trick from
here to Anaheim. You tell me that you're still in La.
Speaker 1 (01:28:06):
Well, I go to Dine. Yeah, you're right, you're right.
I go to Disney.
Speaker 11 (01:28:08):
You're right, exactly almost two and a half hours to
get there.
Speaker 1 (01:28:15):
Oh wow.
Speaker 7 (01:28:15):
Yeah, any other city in the country you travel two
and a half hours away from it, you're no longer
in that city anymore. I don't care.
Speaker 4 (01:28:21):
You might be in another state if you're back east
where I'm from. Yeah, you're in another state. So yeah,
I'm sorry. I called it a la I'm sorry Anaheim, Sorry,
Orange County.
Speaker 1 (01:28:30):
All Tony, he's gonna be there? Or what you had?
This whole thing? What are we doing? I know cop
threw you off, but I mean, come on, step back.
Speaker 11 (01:28:36):
You're a Proney's changing his number to number twenty three.
Speaker 1 (01:28:42):
It's a jerk band, Okay. So I have an idea.
Speaker 4 (01:28:50):
If I'm the Angels front office, I don't trade, okay,
and I know people are gonna You're gonna lose it
for nothing. I don't trade o tany What I do
is I call this bluff. I lay a twelve year
now listen to these numbers. I work this out the
other day. I lay a twelve year deal in front
of him. At seven hundred and fifty million dollars twelve years,
(01:29:13):
that's about fifty seven fifty eight million dollars a year.
I know people think he can get close to sixty
if he were to do a shorter deal for five hundred.
But you tell me, and I'll throw this question to you, gentlemen.
You tell me show hel Tani will look at a
contract that has seven hundred and fifty million dollars on
it and go no. I still want to go to
(01:29:35):
a contender or win, because that's really all he's given us, right,
I just want to go to a contender. He's not
throwing out cities and not throwing teams. I just want
to go to a contender. But you lay seven hundred
and fifty million dollars in front of him, call his bluff.
Speaker 10 (01:29:47):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:29:47):
If I'm show hel.
Speaker 4 (01:29:48):
Tani and they do that a sign and then in
eighteen months, guess what I do, Guys, I say.
Speaker 1 (01:29:54):
It one out.
Speaker 4 (01:29:55):
He's never gonna play that contract out here. You got
your money, You're gonna be traded. Someone else is gonna
pick up the rest of the bill, so they're gonna
still be paying a big number for you too. But
if I'm the Angels front office, I do not trade
this guy. I trade Mike Trout. It's who I trade,
Mike Trout. It's running its course here, that's who I trade.
I'd call this bluff, Martin. I'd throw a deal on
(01:30:18):
the table, brother, twelve years, seven hundred and fifty million dollars.
Here you go, here's a pin. So tell me you
want to go win. Tell me you want to go
win now, because who else is gonna put that deal
on the table in front of him?
Speaker 1 (01:30:28):
Nobody.
Speaker 2 (01:30:29):
I don't think that nobody is the answers to that list.
I think if the Angels put it out there, I
feel like you could see me. I don't know, somebody
gonna match it. The Giants, I think it would be
in play. Like and I'm not one hundred percent, I'm
not in all of this, but like I have a
feeling that, I mean, we saw the Padres just just
break the bank for Juan Soto or you know what
I'm saying, said like to have him on their roster
(01:30:51):
like that in the past, the only game in.
Speaker 1 (01:30:52):
Talent is San Diego.
Speaker 2 (01:30:53):
Like, yeah, I think that you would see somebody coming fifty.
I think you would see somebody come and try to
get that number back down. But if I'm Anaheim at
this point, like I would try to I would try
to move on. But because bro, like I just maybe
it's just the way I look at all of this
and like there's numbers that like the value of all
(01:31:15):
of it, like when you can get when you can
reset your franchise in a way, I think it's a
I gonna say, it's always a good thing.
Speaker 1 (01:31:24):
But you're not winning now. You're not winning now with
the things that.
Speaker 2 (01:31:28):
You've built around show hal Tony and Mike Trout over
the last what five years, It's not happening. So like
what insanity is doing the same thing over and over
again and expecting a different result. So I'm I'm kind
of pro you know, let's tick tick tick boom blow
this up, because hey, and a few years from now,
(01:31:49):
we just might be the Reds. We just might be
a team that all our prospects come up and look
at it. We're balling now, And I look, it is
not like a you know, if I'm a fan of
the Angels, I don't love it, but I you know,
also like that they don't even love you, and they're
trying to tell the team, like you know.
Speaker 1 (01:32:06):
There's a lot of stuff going on, So you trade
him and keep Trout. I would know I would try
to move on from both. From both.
Speaker 3 (01:32:12):
I just.
Speaker 1 (01:32:14):
I call him he's shoe hail Tani.
Speaker 4 (01:32:17):
He might and I'm not I'm not ready to say
he is, but he might be the best player I've
ever seen that I've ever seen, not that baseball's ever had.
I'm only forty five that I've ever seen, though, And
I'm a king Griffy junior defender until the lower closes
the casket and I'm carried about seven of my best friends.
Speaker 1 (01:32:31):
I'm a king Griffy Jr. Guy.
Speaker 4 (01:32:33):
But what this guy is doing, it's almost like you're
waiting for it not to be that good. And all
he keeps doing is walking up to the plate, getting
hits Lea's league, home runs the league, and leads all
pictures in like three different categories. Like it's what he's
doing we've never seen before. And I just think you
hold on to that guy, you whisper sweet enough is
(01:32:54):
in his ear as much as you can and at
the end of the day, everybody always says, it's not
about the money.
Speaker 1 (01:32:59):
We hear that so much in sports. Guys, it's not
about the money.
Speaker 4 (01:33:02):
Yes, at the end of the day, when it's a
national good amount of money, it is about the money.
And I call this bluff with a twelve year, seven
hundred and fifty million dollar deal right in front. And
if he walks, Lisha could say, hey, well, we tried
to give him money, we tried to keep him.
Speaker 1 (01:33:17):
He wanted to go.
Speaker 4 (01:33:18):
You're got to blow it up anyway. There's no guarantee
these prospects work out. I'm trying to keep the guy
that's the generational right now instead of these might be
guys that you're gonna send me back and now from
the Angels, that's what I do. If you're the Angels,
you've had a generational guy on your team now for
the last decade at least, and you've had not much
(01:33:38):
to show for. I fight back with the generational thing
about it. I know that's my unpopular opinion, but I
have a different opinion on Trout that most people do.
But different, Yeah, I do.
Speaker 1 (01:33:48):
I do, so Mike Trout's not He's one of the
best basketball players of all time. No, no, no, not
of all time. Iove of the last ten years. Mike Trout.
You know he's done this thing in this league.
Speaker 4 (01:33:58):
But I I just think, ain't that when we so
quickly throw out, oh my god, Mike Trout's one of
the best players of all time.
Speaker 1 (01:34:04):
I'm not with that brand.
Speaker 2 (01:34:06):
I'm not right now. I'm not with that ten seconds. Yeah,
we can do it another time, but I want right
now before break am I offer on like, Mike Trout
one of the best ever. Know, yes, thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:34:17):
I'm just just because Brandon jumped in and said yes,
doesn't mean it it's true. No, he is.
Speaker 11 (01:34:22):
Legitimately one of the best players to ever step.
Speaker 1 (01:34:24):
On the FOD. Okay, I just say that.
Speaker 10 (01:34:28):
Ok.
Speaker 1 (01:34:29):
I just was making sure that I'm like, I like
three on one, it's.
Speaker 11 (01:34:32):
Cool, five to two athletes.
Speaker 12 (01:34:34):
He can run, he can throw, He's excellent in the field,
excellent at the plate.
Speaker 11 (01:34:39):
One of the best ever.
Speaker 1 (01:34:40):
Do it serious?
Speaker 2 (01:34:41):
I mean, I'm old enough to remember in twenty twelve
and thirteen when Caprere was crushing the American League and
they're like, but.
Speaker 1 (01:34:49):
Look at Mike Trout's war three MVPs.
Speaker 4 (01:34:53):
Yeah, Okay, I'm just this one I feel different about
we can get we use an I just want to
get a do we get a show concent It's just
ruling me and you disagree.
Speaker 1 (01:35:01):
So I was like, come on, Brandon, that's the time,
ok you know me, break the wall? Is it not
break the time? Chris one? Would you guys do it?
Three one? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:35:07):
I was gonna say, like you you've got guys who
you see guys who do the best thing, like Miguel
Carbret might be the best pure hitter I've ever seen.
There's some guys who are like amazing home runs machine.
But like to Brandon's point, all around every category. Oh
Tani is great.
Speaker 1 (01:35:21):
Goodness, Gracey, I'll tell you what. The Orioles haven't caught
a five ball break in?
Speaker 6 (01:35:26):
Did?
Speaker 1 (01:35:26):
It feels like goodness? Gracious?
Speaker 2 (01:35:28):
All right, We'll have some basketball talk coming up with
this after this the Marjay Morris at the bottom of
the hour talk some baseball as well. Martin and VJ
Fox Sports Radio. Martin VJ coming to your line from
the Tirack dot Com studios. Nick Kope will have all
the baseball scores at about six minutes. Hopefully we can
have a Lebron free update on in July fifteenth.
Speaker 1 (01:35:49):
Yeah, watch Orioles, just tie it up. I'm excited about that.
We were just talking V Do you want to go
ahead and reset the conversation we were having in the
control room.
Speaker 4 (01:35:57):
Yes, because I thought it was a good conversation. I
think everybody's really got good points. When we talk about Trout.
We were talking about Trout going to the break, and
you guys are saying, you know, one of the greatest
players of all time. My pushback is I have them
in a category of probably the greatest player of his generation.
But when you start saying of all time, and now
I need to hear your list. I need to see, Okay,
(01:36:18):
what's your top ten? But if you even tell me
he's top ten all time, you're pushing out a lot
of guys. Oh we're just so quick to kind of
forget what a lot of players in this league is done.
And baseball is such a numbers driven game. I think
a lot of times we get caught up and looking
at numbers and categories and then ranking guys and you
guys know me, I'm gonna put the tape on, put.
Speaker 1 (01:36:40):
The film on.
Speaker 4 (01:36:41):
And we even threw pictures in there. Brandon said, well,
if you if you have a top ten list, you
had to have a picture. If you don't have a
picture in it, then the list is kind of unfair.
And I agree with that. But if there's a picture
you want to throw in there in your top ten,
it could be nobody else but Nolan Ryan. You threw
out Marianna Rivera, which I'm not even gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:36:57):
Back against that. I can see where you're going.
Speaker 2 (01:36:59):
I can see where you're going with that, And I
partly think when you look at like modern baseball, I
think a Now, I hate to say it sounds sacrilegious,
because you know, a great starter going out there and
throwing one hundred and ten pitch, one hundred and fifteen pitches.
It's great to see. Yeah, you know what I'm saying,
terms of no hitters and stuff like that. You know
you love seeing that. But I think the way that
modern baseball's played in this stage, I'd almost probably rather
(01:37:21):
have a lockdown closer than like two amazing starters.
Speaker 4 (01:37:26):
Yeah, but we were just talking during the break when
you guys came in here a minute ago. The closers
are kind of like, there isn't the like we grew
up in the air, like you mentioned a Marianna Rivera
a A A Trevor Hoffman, a Dennis Eckersley, like guys
that are Hall of Fame closers, like they're they're gonna
pitch the Remember the Dodgers had Eric Ganye, what was
this record of not giving up a not giving up
(01:37:49):
a save or something like fifty something sixty something games
in a row for Eric Ganye? Those days are are go,
Who's who's the dominant closer? Who's the closer in Major
League Baseball today? Give me two guys, give me two aup.
Speaker 2 (01:38:00):
To brands that eighty four consecutive, Say hey, eighty four
for gan Ye.
Speaker 4 (01:38:03):
You're right, So you're definitely not getting that anymore because
the starters are coming out to sixth inny Okay or
the fifth any because of analytics and pitch count. And
Chris was in here a minute ago and say he
doesn't want to be to blame the analytic guy. I
was first to say, no, be the blame analytic guy,
because I blame the analytic guy that started and cost
all of this. Where pictures don't go long, which means
(01:38:25):
they don't stay warm long enough, you're seeing more injuries
things of that nature. I just but to the Trout thing.
I'm not saying that guy's not great. I'm not saying
that guy's not generational for his generation. But to tell
me he is one of the greatest players of all time,
then now I got to hear your listen, see where
you got him? Is he top ten, top fifteen, top twenty.
If he's top ten, I'm definitely arguing back against that.
(01:38:46):
If you're telling me Mike Trout's top ten right now, I've.
Speaker 2 (01:38:49):
Been trying to think of another analogy for this because
you're bald, but you're splitting hairs. If he's one of
the best of his generation, right, comedy about your chair,
I swear I'm about to push you on the floor.
Many generations are there to where he can't also be
one of the best of all time. I just see
know what I'm saying that, Like, if he's one of
the best of his generation, they've been playing baseball approximately
(01:39:10):
since what like eighteen eighty something nineteen hundred.
Speaker 7 (01:39:12):
Also playing the same game since then. I'm gonna push
back on your put on the tape thing because the
reason why stats have ruled baseball for so long. Is
because he's always been the same game all these years.
Speaker 4 (01:39:23):
Yeah, there's always been the same game. There's always there's
been adjustment since of the game. So we look at
all the rule changes that we do have, that we
do have this year, and things they've done before.
Speaker 1 (01:39:32):
Lowering them mount, raising them ound.
Speaker 4 (01:39:34):
They've done other stuff before, from generation to generation and
from air to era. Once again, I'm not saying the
guy's not great, but if you're telling me he's a
top ten player of all time, I damn sure would
love to go home and put a list together and
we can do this next week. If you're telling me
Trout's a top ten player of all time, I guarantee
you I find ten guys and I'll have each of
(01:39:55):
you go. You might you might want to just argue
back against it, but trust me your sports soul, we'll
go okay, and maybe not top ten guys.
Speaker 1 (01:40:04):
Come on, man, come on, VJ. I can't you know.
I can't believe you missed this.
Speaker 2 (01:40:08):
We got the mar J Morris coming up after the break,
Nick Kobey up in just a second year.
Speaker 1 (01:40:12):
I can't believe you missed this and your whole lebron thing.
I can't believe you didn't do this? What I miss this?
Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
Why would you change your number back from six to
twenty three or twenty three to six or whatever the
hell he's changing it to and from man because everybody's
already got the one from last year. Now he's right
back in the top ten selling jerseys again. Oh you know,
it's because everybody's already got the other one, So everybody's
got the old one, so people can say in his
twenty first year, he's in the top ten ager. Yeah,
(01:40:43):
that's how you went that. Why do you think NFL
teams are always twisting their jerseys around a little bit
because they can't have that way you can have a
Brady from four, Brady from five, or Brady from six.
Speaker 1 (01:40:53):
Oh I missed the eight year. You know what I'm saying?
Speaker 4 (01:40:56):
Really by jerseys like that, like the same players, yes,
difference just oh yeah, they look around the screen.
Speaker 2 (01:41:03):
Look right there at Kansas City, there's like eight jerseys
in the first row, Like look right there, Look at
all the jerseys at Baltimore that aren't I just lead?
Speaker 4 (01:41:11):
Yeah, I just like I got like I got the
Royal Blue. Isaiah Thomas Mitchellanets joint and that's the one.
Speaker 1 (01:41:17):
I'm cheap. I'm not gonna buy a white one to.
Speaker 7 (01:41:19):
Buy our old producer bo is absolutely that person. Yes,
just to buy that many jerseys. As for myself as
a soccer guy, they're changing in their national jerseys every year.
I you damn well, I'm getting a lot of Italy jerseys. Also,
why do you.
Speaker 12 (01:41:33):
Think the NBA did away with home away and alternate
and now has like icon city and like statement. They
completely did away with those, so they introduced they introduced
I think it's a new statement jersey every single year,
which is like based on the city or.
Speaker 7 (01:41:49):
Something color Russian. Now the new alternates like those white
Bengal ones the city connects in the MLB.
Speaker 1 (01:41:56):
Those some of those are horrible.
Speaker 4 (01:41:58):
The last NBA jersey I brought is when Nike was
still doing the Swingman editions and that was what fifteen
sixteen years ago. That's the last NBA jersey, A Kobe
Barney jersey.
Speaker 7 (01:42:08):
All, I damn near almost bought that new Lion's alternate helmet.
Speaker 2 (01:42:13):
First of all, that line's that Lions jersey. I like
the Lions jersey. Coupy op In one second, I got
I got a big uh, I gotta I got a jersey.
I got a conspiracy for y'all. Right, y'all remember the
Cleveland Lebron Kyrie era where they had the sleeves on
the jerseys. Oh, the whole reason they were the reason
they were trying to do that increased jersey sales.
Speaker 1 (01:42:33):
So people built like me and VJ.
Speaker 2 (01:42:35):
Would go and buy those jerseys because you gotta have
some shoulders if you want to wear a regular NBA
jersey or have an extensive T shirt under right, if
you just want to go regular tea Like, come on, bro,
I'm built like a scarecrow.
Speaker 1 (01:42:48):
I can't go out there with a big old jersey.
I ain't got no biceps. That that's what that.
Speaker 2 (01:42:53):
That's the whole thing behind the T shirt jerseys, and
that's what they were trying to do. They're trying to
get it the takeoff. You know, Baseball got jerseys, the
shirts that aren't really jerseys. That they're trying to do
the same thing in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (01:43:04):
And it didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:43:05):
It didn't last because Lebron and then ripped them off
in the playoffs. I firmly believed that.
Speaker 4 (01:43:11):
Wow, I remember him tearing it off, and those are
ugly because weren't they v neck cut too.
Speaker 1 (01:43:16):
Exactly, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (01:43:18):
They were trying to it just just is screaming on
the tea on the rock, now on the rack somewhere
at a discount spot.
Speaker 1 (01:43:25):
That's what you're looking at.
Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
All right, Cope, what you got in terms of these
baseball scores and everything else going around the road?
Speaker 9 (01:43:32):
Okay, I was gonna I was just gonna say, what,
wasn't he already twenty three for a couple of years
at the Lakers. Yeah, so theoretically you've already got your
twenty three Lakers jerseys, so you wouldn't have to buy
another half.
Speaker 1 (01:43:46):
Best one doesn't have a corporate sponsor.
Speaker 9 (01:43:50):
Yeah, it's got the old We're going to be sure
it's a Lakers jersey.
Speaker 1 (01:43:53):
But doesn't say wish on the chest.
Speaker 9 (01:43:57):
You aren't a real fan. All right, Let's let's get
to baseball scores. Hey, the Orioles have taken the lead, Martin.
It's now six to five. They got the tying home
run from Gunner Henderson moments ago. Now the Orioles in front.
They're in the seventh inning. There, low scoring in Pittsburgh
won one ball game between the Giants and the Pirates.
Philly is leading the Padres six to two. They're going
for a doubleheader sweep today. Kyle Schwarber has homered in
(01:44:19):
each game, Twins leading the A's eight to seven. In
the seven, that's been a battle. Minnesota led six to
nothing at one point, Brewers leading the Reds to nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:44:28):
In the fifth.
Speaker 9 (01:44:29):
Christian Yelich has homern won one ball game between the
Dodgers and the Mets. In the sixth inning, Brandon Nemo
and Mookie Betts have homern. Cardinals on top of the
Nationals four to three. In the fourth, White Sox hanging
on against the Braves. It is six to four in
the eighth inning. By the way, a note on the Braves,
they have now homered in twenty eight straight games. That
is the second longest streak in Major League Baseball history.
(01:44:51):
Yankees hit in thirty one straight games back in twenty nineteen.
And speaking of the Bronx Bombers, they lead the Ronckies
six to one. In the fourth ning, Gihon Carlos Stanton
has four driven in, including a three run Homery now
has one thousand RBIs for his career. Astros and Angels
just underway. No score in the second, Tigers and Mariners
(01:45:12):
about to get going. Finals from earlier, you've got the
Phillies beating the Padre six to four. Rays beat the
Royals four to two, and in fact that that's actually
one of the finals from just now. They just finished
that doubleheader sweep so six to one earlier for the
Rays now four to two the final they just took
it inkc Nationals beat the Cardinals earlier seven to five,
(01:45:33):
Cubs over the Red Sox ten to four, Blue Jays
over the d Backs five to two, and the Rangers
shut out the Guardians to zip.
Speaker 2 (01:45:41):
Back to you guys, Thanks Nick, and without further ado,
let's get my guy in here. He's MLB bro content
reporter Anaheim Slash Los Angeles Angels fan damar J Morris, DAMARJ.
How you doing, brother? How you feeling today doing? How
we doing?
Speaker 1 (01:45:59):
Look? All Star break is over, the second half has started.
Speaker 2 (01:46:03):
I don't know how much baseball you've been watching today,
but there has been a questionable defense to say the least.
Speaker 1 (01:46:09):
But one thing I do want to talk about.
Speaker 2 (01:46:11):
Nick Koche just said, this is the second go either
twenty eight or twenty nine straight home games with a
home run for the Atlanta Braves. Now the second half
is started, is that a team in the second half
you're expecting to keep up or are you expecting a
team like a surprise team from the seton in the
second half to come up and take over it says
(01:46:32):
in the National League the American League.
Speaker 5 (01:46:34):
Rather, I'm sorry, call me crazy, but I know they
lost both games today. It looks like they're going to
lose the second game. But I will say the Podjays
because only because once Blake Snell picked it up. I
think it was like his over his last five starts,
he's been going crazy. I forgot when he started. Like
his last five starts, he's been going crazy. Muscrove pitching
(01:46:54):
out of his mind. Machado's got it going. They just
need Bogart's and Soto can be going. If those two
guys can get rolling consistently, you know, with Tatis doing
this thing, I think they can make a little run.
You know a lot of people are saying they need
to go on one of those crazy runs, get back
in excuse me, get back in it. But I think
they're very capable. So yeah, that team would be the
Padres for me.
Speaker 10 (01:47:14):
Still not over, Still not over.
Speaker 2 (01:47:15):
I did see that Blake Blake Snell Cy Young odds
went from like seventeen to one to nine or eight
to one just the other day.
Speaker 1 (01:47:24):
So to your point, he's been balling over his last
five or six starts and talking about the Padres. They
out here hitting the hitting batters with pitches.
Speaker 4 (01:47:32):
So it just takes one off the arm being down
seven to two and the seventh inter Right now, I
want to jump to a team that we spoke about
earlier in this year, and everybody, first when we talked
about the Tampa Bay Rays were all, man, we got away,
we've seen the Rays do this.
Speaker 1 (01:47:44):
Then we got to about forty games and we were
still saying the same thing.
Speaker 4 (01:47:46):
That we got about fifty sixty games, and oh no,
the Rays are real, the raiser are They're good.
Speaker 1 (01:47:51):
They got a chance to win it this year. They
got a chance to go deep into the playoffs. And
then from the DMV here comes these Baltimore Orioles.
Speaker 4 (01:47:58):
Right, six wins in a row, seven three, they're up
right now six or five against the Marlins, and I
look at this team two and a half out, do
they have any shots to you?
Speaker 1 (01:48:06):
Demarsh and if they do, how are they gonna do it?
Speaker 4 (01:48:08):
To catch the Rays and probably be the big surprises,
probably other than the Reds, if they were to win
their division, to win a division in baseball, did you
talk to me about the O's out to be more?
Speaker 5 (01:48:19):
They absolutely have a shot. Everybody expects them me as well,
expects them to make a move after trade deadline. They
got to get some pitching in there, improve that rotation.
They got the batch, they got the offense. So that's
you know, that's taking care of their good on that end.
That road record with the Rays and makes me nervous,
It makes me nervous. Don't like that they're dominated at home,
but they're a completely different team on the road. Yes,
(01:48:40):
And if you're struggling in the regular season on the road,
what makes me think you're gonna be able to turn
it round come postseason. So I think the Orioles definitely
have a chance to sneak up and catch that to
take over that division. And that's what allowed the Orioles
to gain ground on the rais there's the road record,
because the Orioles, I believe are twenty eight and sixteen
seventeen something like that on.
Speaker 1 (01:49:00):
The road up he Yeah, won the road.
Speaker 5 (01:49:03):
Yeah, that's the difference right there, That's what That's what
helped them get ground.
Speaker 1 (01:49:06):
Call it now they catch him or not? Yes, love
it now.
Speaker 2 (01:49:11):
You just mentioned the trade deadline. Everybody is curious if
show Heyl Tony will stay and uh, we'll still be
an Angel after that deadline has passed. An anonymous GM said,
the trading show Hey will be good for the game
of baseball.
Speaker 1 (01:49:25):
Demarj your thoughts.
Speaker 5 (01:49:28):
I don't agree with that. Baseball is always better when
the smaller teams. I understand the market where the where
the Angels plays a big market, Southern California, Disneyland. I
get that, but they don't have a history of winning.
They don't have a history of success like some franchises.
So it's the league is better when teams like that
are successful. And obviously having a guy like show Hall
Tony gives you the best chance at being successful if
(01:49:50):
you can build around him and you know, get the
other pieces in place.
Speaker 10 (01:49:54):
So yeah, I don't agree with that.
Speaker 5 (01:49:55):
I think it's better if they keep them and they
can try to, you know, become successful, make something happen.
And yeah, the league's always better when teams like that
are winning tomorrows.
Speaker 4 (01:50:04):
There we go back and forth about my mighty Rangers.
I got my fresh Rangers fitted on today as we
want two to nothing today.
Speaker 1 (01:50:09):
Off the break.
Speaker 4 (01:50:10):
But look, but look, I keep it a buck. We
you and I text a lot and we talk a
lot off the record. They stumbled into the break at
twelve and nineteen, and I watched Tony. I've watch at
least fifty five of their games this year, so I
see it up close and personal. The one thing that
does kind of scare me about them is the bullpen
has kind of let them down in some of these
games against lower teams that they should have beaten. And
(01:50:30):
we're one of the highest teams in the Majors. Leaving
runs on, runners on base and scoring position. What do
they need to do to rectify that? And with the
trade deadline coming up, I think they need another arm.
The bats are fine. Do you think the Rangers sit
and Bruce Bochi's doing his thing or do you think
they say, no, let's go get another arm or two
(01:50:51):
to help this bullpen. And we figured the bats will
get hot sooner enough and it will be able to
put some of these runs in.
Speaker 5 (01:50:57):
Yeah, I think you definitely have to get another arm
in there. I think that was a given as soon
as the Grom went down. I think everybody knew at
some point they were going to have to, you know,
try to get somebody else in there. Shout out to
Dame Dunny doing his thing. Shout out to Nate Yo
Valdi workhorse holding that lineup location down.
Speaker 10 (01:51:14):
So yeah, they.
Speaker 1 (01:51:14):
Definitely Yeah, yeah, so DeMars.
Speaker 2 (01:51:21):
You know, me and VJ we have a this is
the problem with with my my lovely co host here.
He's saying a penny, he's automatic going to.
Speaker 1 (01:51:30):
Be like, stick to it, let's bet it.
Speaker 10 (01:51:32):
So now.
Speaker 2 (01:51:35):
I made the mistake of saying I think the Reds
are going to be good when this Daily Cruiz kid
comes up, and sure enough they have been. So now
I'm on the hook. I've got the Reds to win
the NL Central. He's got the Brewers. They're in the
series right now. Uh, what does the winner of this
series win the NL Central?
Speaker 5 (01:51:54):
Yeah, yeah, I think so. Huge, huge implications on the
line right now, both teams the same exact record. Yeah,
I think so. I think so, and I agree with you.
I think the Reds uh sorry blanked out for a minute,
but yeah, yeah, red is definitely gonna take it.
Speaker 13 (01:52:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:52:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:52:09):
The Reds are not winning this division. They give up
too many runs. They give up too many runs. They're
not listen there. What they've done is been beautiful. It
has and because of Mari, I've watched red games now.
I probably wouldn't have watch no Reds games this year
if you guys hadn't started talking about it. And I
do like what they're doing. But I just think that
the brew crew, their defense is better, pitch is better,
and I think the Reds, uh, this will, this will
(01:52:30):
run out.
Speaker 1 (01:52:31):
It's been cute, that's all. It's been cute, you know,
but you know it'll it'll run out soon.
Speaker 5 (01:52:37):
Cincinnati has some arms in that rotation too. Now, don't
sleep on their pitching. They got a nice little, you know,
nice little group of guys, and they got some injuries.
You know, this little dolo can come back. And they're
playing free. They don't have no pressure, they're shooting expectations.
They could just go out and play free. Teams are always.
Speaker 1 (01:52:52):
Dangerous free until Labor Day, when it comes down to
the clutch.
Speaker 2 (01:52:56):
I'll just say, you talk about playing free, I don't
think there's a is there a team and sports having more.
Speaker 1 (01:53:01):
Fun than the Cincinnati Red right now. I'm not sure.
I'm sure, no way.
Speaker 5 (01:53:05):
I would love to be out there right now.
Speaker 2 (01:53:07):
I'm saying they look like I mean, they look like
they're having so much fun. But it's always a blast
getting my guy DEMARJ. Morrison here, that's MLB Bro Content
reporter DEMARJ.
Speaker 1 (01:53:18):
Morris. In fact, de Mars, what's your Twitter? Where are
you at on Twitter?
Speaker 5 (01:53:23):
Oh? I changed this my first name to Mars ninety one.
Speaker 1 (01:53:26):
All right, there you go, first name the March ninety one.
Speaker 2 (01:53:29):

Fox Sports Radio, Ut Grand Deals. Oh wonder, Serrie swinging
a high fly ball deep to left center field. This
is way back, hit the wall and this ball is gone.
A two homer game for jose Aint Siri.
Speaker 2 (01:54:07):
Rays going on to win that game four to two.

something today and I actually have a source on the course.
But you were talking about Steph Curry and his hole
in one, and I know that you want to talk
about it, so go ahead.
Speaker 4 (01:54:42):
I thought it was beautiful, b being a beautiful I did, man,
because it's former a former fellow light Skinned brother. I
make sure I gotta always keep love with the light
skin Vanilla brothers in pro sports.
Speaker 1 (01:54:52):
Man. But if you really go back and watch the caller,
you just watch this guy play.
Speaker 4 (01:54:55):
He did an interview with Michael Jordan not long ago
where they talked about the game of golf and how
much they love to play it.
Speaker 1 (01:55:02):
Steph is so good. Guys, you realize this guy can
go he can go play pro? No, he can't. When
he's yeah yeah, yeah yeah canah yeah yeah can he
can go play pro?
Speaker 2 (01:55:10):
He would have to dedicate his entire life to it
and then maybe, just maybe he would be competitive.
Speaker 1 (01:55:14):
But no, he would not. Steph would not qualify for
the PGA. I think he would and I would love
to see it too.
Speaker 4 (01:55:19):
But it was just cool to see him part three
one hundred and fifty four yards one hundred and fifty
two yards. I believe it is one bounce and then
into the cup, and to watch him take his hat
off and run all the way down.
Speaker 1 (01:55:32):
To the hole. He took his glove off and through it.
It's just I just I like the guy live.
Speaker 4 (01:55:36):
I've always been a fan, so it's really cool to
see him doing this outside of the sport that we
all know him for. And you know, I'm gonna say
Pauls before I say this, but the guy just knows
how to put balls where they go, you know, So
it is what it is.
Speaker 1 (01:55:49):
I mean, he just plays a lot of golf. But yeah,
but yeah, I thought it was cool.
Speaker 2 (01:55:55):
He can't be like it is cool and it's very impressive.
But it's impressive because he's a basketball player. That's part
of the thing about Steph's golf game, right, Like, it's
impressive because we look at him as a more tool
in terms of golf, right, Like, you know what I'm saying, Like,
you're not impressed, for example, when Steph Curry hits a
three because you know that.
Speaker 1 (01:56:16):
Like you expect him to go, expect him to go,
and like, you know what I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:56:18):
Saying, You're you were impressed when Steph Curry hits a
three with eight people guarding him at one time.
Speaker 1 (01:56:24):
You know what I'm saying, You're kind of like that
Steph is like, wow, that's Steph.
Speaker 2 (01:56:28):
Like but when Steph, you know, they swing the ball
around to him at the corner and he's wide open
because he just ran off eight screens or something like
that he makes, it's like, oh yeah. I think a
lot of the Steph's golf game would be if he
was actually competing against golfers consistently day in day out,
week in week out, he wouldn't be competitive.
Speaker 4 (01:56:45):
I just think, well, if he, like you said, you
dedicate your time to a practice enough you're not playing basketball.
I think after his playing days. I don't know how
long the guy's gonna play, but I think he would
have a shot. And what makes this so special as
your reasoning of well, we're only we're only saying this
because we just know him from basketball, that's fine. If
a golfer walked on to the All Star Celebrity game
(01:57:07):
and hit a three, it doesn't shock us.
Speaker 1 (01:57:11):
So we've seen it. Though.
Speaker 4 (01:57:12):
We see these celebrity who can't play a lick, they
can't play dead. My son Cameron better than this sardy
to do it. But if they hit a three, we
don't go whoa Steph Curry, Hold hold on, no, no, no,
because this is this is now you're touching. You want
to talk about something this personal for me?
Speaker 1 (01:57:27):
Not here we go.
Speaker 2 (01:57:28):
Because I had to hear about how j Cole was
good at basketball this whole time because he was killing it,
because he was killing the damn All Star Game. He
went to Africa and he can't get off the bench
in Nigeria. Okay, is he riding the bench out there?
Speaker 1 (01:57:42):
He's got covering the team? Oh I didn't, Okay, got
he got coming in Africa?
Speaker 2 (01:57:46):
And then and then it comes back around that Cody
Martin was in there working out with Jake. So don't
tell me that they can't find the NBA players around
J Cole, because they can't. There should have been Eastern
Conference finals. MVP was working out with J Cole, not
J Cole.
Speaker 1 (01:58:01):
Are you know what I'm saying? It's like no, no, no,
I got some burn, though, got some burn. He ain't
a buck yet. I saw a highlight he scored. He
scored like eight points one game. He didn't He didn't
score points the whole time he was there.
Speaker 7 (01:58:14):
Real quick on on the Steph Curry thing, are what
are they using?
Speaker 1 (01:58:18):
Do you know? Are they using the pro teas?
Speaker 7 (01:58:20):
Because that makes all the difference, Like, yeah, people don't realize,
like those PGA guys, they are teeing off from different t's.
Speaker 4 (01:58:26):
Though you and I, Well, the thing was was a
par three is one fifty four, one fifty two. So
there's there's pebble beach holes that had to have that
have those part threes. There's TPC saw grass that.
Speaker 3 (01:58:36):
Have the.
Speaker 10 (01:58:38):
The water.
Speaker 2 (01:58:39):
Yeah, I get all the ale I ain't ye which
way is the going is the dog?
Speaker 1 (01:58:44):
Like all of that stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:58:45):
Well and either or okay, So didn't tell PGA guys
to go out there take the same swing where he
took it from and see, I mean those guys get
a hold in one on that hold in TA and
PGA plays.
Speaker 7 (01:58:54):
Of course they hold one is a lot of luck,
but they would absolutely be getting a lot of them
in two.
Speaker 6 (01:58:58):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:58:58):
Also, the day before the Masters, there's a hole in
one tournament. Yeah, yeah, so it's like there's a thing.
It's a thing, something part of the challenge. But it's
like everybody here is expected to be able to try
to at least hit a hole in one.
Speaker 1 (01:59:12):
Right, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (01:59:13):
Like we had three hole in ones of the US
Open and people started complaining about that.
Speaker 1 (01:59:17):
It's too easy. Yeah, I complained.
Speaker 4 (01:59:20):
I'm one of them because when I came in and
you and I were talking about it, the US Open
is supposed to be the hardest course on tour all
year long.
Speaker 7 (01:59:28):
And I just don't think that this guys that I
was up there personally, that was very hard because it's
just not a lot of in between strokeouts might not
be high, but like there was a lot of It
was like he was either birdie or quadruple bogee for everyone.
Speaker 4 (01:59:40):
Chris, that's not the hardest course they're going to play
on this year, as simple as that. That's not the
hardest course they're going to play on. There's harder courses
they're gonna play on this year. The US Open is
known and it's supposed to be the hardest course that
the tour plays on, year in and year out, as
simple as that. And I respect and I respect Steph
Curry got a hole in one so and it's the
(02:00:01):
second one, so he's done it. He's done this before.
Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
It's cool, it's cool, but it's like when Patrick Mahomes
does it, it's like, you're doing this because you're better
at something else.
Speaker 1 (02:00:08):
Did Patrick Holmes get ahold of one? But he plays
golf on TV all the time? Martin v J, Fox
Sports Radio,
