A Fox Sports Football Saturday, the first one in quite
some time without any actual football. But don't be dismayed,
Do not worry. We will be talking about in football
because the two biggest games of the year are within
twenty four hours of now, the Chiefs and the Bills
in the AFC Championship.
Speaker 3 (00:41):
Yet again, we've seen a couple episodes of that TV
show before.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
We'll see the season finale coming up tomorrow and the
new hotness on the market, Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders,
first year head coach, first year quarterback, and first time
for the Commanders in the end SC Championship game in
thirty something years.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
I believe thirty three to be exactly three.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
And the Philadelphia Eagles were just in the NFC Championship
game not long ago. But obviously they were successful there
will they be successful again? We'll get to that in
about an hour, but right now again on this Football Saturday,
let's start with the main the main event on the
title card, Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City versus Buffalo,
(01:27):
two teams that had their divisions locked up early.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
We're really on a collision course for this game. You know.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Really, the only thing I think standing in the way
of well, either one of them was Lamar Jackson the
Baltimore Ravens. Once they were vanquished, this was inevitable. We're
now here, VJ. Who's got more on the line than
this game? Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
Both of whom who have put together incredible careers thus far.
Well before I touch that.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
As always, man, welcome in all our faithful and great
listeners and Fox Sports Radio listening Land Martin VJ, Fox
Football Saturday, the Big Vanilla Funny, the Big Vanilla Sports
Talk Poppy. Good to be in here, man, always great
to be with you guys. And uh let's go. So
who's got more?
Speaker 3 (02:09):
Come on? Man, this is mahone, It's Pat Mahomes. This
is easy.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
I'm surprised honestly, I just ian, I was just in
the room with you, right. I looked at the computer.
You're typing this up. We're looking at the rundown before
he paints it out. I was surprised this is even
on here. I don't think this is close. This isn't close.
This is Pat mahoney. He is going for NFL history.
He is going for three in a row, three out
of four.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
I mean, he he.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
I don't think this makes him better than Thomas. I
don't think so. But there will be a contingency of
people who will start to say, three Mondays from two
days from now, people will start to say he is
the greatest quarterback of all time. There already people who
say this, But that right there to three p nah
I think you need at least five to catch Thomas.
(02:53):
He's got seven. You just don't get to get to
three and four and think that you're better than seven.
My mind doesn't work that way. This is all Pat mahone.
This is NFL world history. There's nothing. If Josh Allen
wins this game, people are still gonna say, including me,
what he's gotta go win the Super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Okay, he got there.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Congratulations you got there, all right, cool, Now you gotta
go win it. They don't get no trophies for getting there.
But this is all Pat Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
On the line.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
And I mean, I'm excited to watch this game tomorrow.
I can't wait to watch this game tomorrow because I
love watching history. And I've told you before, man, I
said it to you, Aaron Torres. We filled it during
the holidays of this run of the Kansas City Chiefs,
and the version and the version of Pat Mahomes we've
seen over the last five years. This season has been
my favorite because it's shown that they've done everything else.
(03:39):
He's done everything else. He's thrown fifty plus touchdowns, he's
done of you know, fifty five hundred yards, he's done
all of that. This year was about the attrition of
maturity and experience in pro sports. And we don't have
to be the top scoranteam. We don't have to win
every game. Even though what they only we lost two
or three they lost the last week against the different Brucks,
(03:59):
but they showed this year we can still get there,
just kind of pulling back a little bit enough to
just beat everybody, still by one possession and still hosts
the AFC Championship game at home and get a chance
to go do a Super Bowl. To me, this is
not even close. This is history. This is Pat Mahomes.
If he loses this game tomorrow, it does nothing against
(04:20):
his legacy, but it stops him from elevating that legacy
to where no one else has ever done it before
and has three straight Super Bowls.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
So I also like the idea that I'm with you here,
but I don't think it's just a completely you know,
obvious two plus to his four level answer.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Here here's the reason why.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
If you go to Pro Football Reference dot com, which
I love that side exactly.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
One of my personal favorite site is there.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
So one of the things that I like the best
about Pro Football Reference is the Hall of Fame monitor.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
Right, it takes the So go ahead and take a look.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I've been Josh Allen's name in the Pro Football Monitor,
because what you'll find is that Josh Allen, quarterback of
the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 3 (05:09):
By Pro Football References.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
Tabulations, he is and they put all these stats on
a gradient. So now he's got they come up with
a total score. For example, for Reference, Tom Brady's Hall
of Fame Meter is two hundred and sixty three point three, right, Ye,
so that's the guy they say he's not in yet,
(05:31):
but he's definitely getting in. Peyton Manning two hundred and
fifty seven point eight, right, Aaron Rodgers won ninety seven.
So those that's kind of the range where these are
the guys who are up there, and I'm only looking
at quarterbacks. I got you, Okay, I'm just explaining to
the audience. Average Hall of Fame quarterback. His score is
one hundred and eight, Okay. Average Hall of Fame quarterback
(05:51):
has two championships to All Pros, seven Pro Bowls, and
was at least probably around tenth to thirteen years as
a starter. That's what Pro Football Reference puts as the average.
So that's not like conjecture that they take all the
guys in there put them all together. Josh Allen right now, yeah,
say I know where you're going to say. Josh Allen
(06:12):
right now is a score forty seven? Yeah right, he
has a score of forty seven. His numbers are around
in terms of this. Derek Carr has scored forty six.
Jared Goff has to score forty seven, just a few
points higher. Vinnie Testa Verdi's forty eight, Joe Flacco fifty four,
Jim Kelly, who's in the Hall of Fame fifty nine,
(06:33):
Josh Allen wins this game by reputation and going to
the super Bowl before multiple time MVP Lamar Jackson has
it will catapult him to a level of lod No.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
No, because here's the deal. I agree with you. Mahomes
wins this three pet There will be several people I
told you in this before the show, there will be
a ton of people and I and you know what,
I damn well, it might be one of them that.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
Is that Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback we've ever seen. Wow,
I might just be one of them, and I want
him to win it so that we have that discussion.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
But you know what, but that'll be real because yeah, okay,
I get you. Tom won seven. But you know what,
we weren't calling we were calling Tom the best ever
well before seven. We see what I'm saying. We were
calling Tom the best ever well before seven we were,
but we were calling Jordan the best ever before six.
I'm not saying. That's my point. That's my point.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
So if Patrick Mahomes three peats on top of already
winning the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
He's four and six years or something like that.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
All right, well boom, if you tell now, dude, that
argument will be there, it'll be real. But if Josh
Allen wins this game and he plays well, that this
Hall of Fame score will skyrocket. He'll skyrocket with the
Super Bowl appearance. Think about the quarterbacks who have Super
Bowl wins right now, Matthew Stafford, Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
That's the list. That's it in the NFL, in the
NFL currently, that's the list. You're right, If Josh Allen
goes to the Super Bowl, gotta win it. I'm just
even if he goes though it's already he's already up there.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
If he wins it, there will be a large contingency
of people who are going out there saying Josh Allen
is the best quarterback in the NFL period. Stop, do
not pass, go, do not collect, Kansas City, that's what
That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (08:25):
Like it's not. I get you, and I agree because
of the all time legacy.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
But right now, Josh, I think if you ask the
average person walking down the street who is an NFL fan,
is Josh Allen a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Every I think probably three out of four would say,
of course he is. But then when you really when, ok,
two out of four, then make whatever. There'd be any
of people who would say in no Super Bowl appearance
when you look it up, I'm saying the style of play.
Like when I look at Lamar Jackson, if you had
told me he had never won the MVP, I'd be like,
that's one of the best football players I've ever seen.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
I'm sorry, I don't give it. I don't care what
awards he's won, whatever. Lamar Jackson were the best football
players I've ever seen just watching him play. Same story
with Josh Allen, especially this year with the cutting down
significantly of the turnovers. This is a huge, huge game
for him and the thing the last point about Mahomes,
I'll take it here.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Okay, I get Kelsey thirty five, but Brady. Think about it.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Brady won, he won some, took a little break, then
won some more. Mahomes is going into.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
The loads by twenty nine. You'll have seven more years
I got he's got at least, so I've just six
more prime I can win it. Yeah, exactly. While if
he loses he might not get the three in a row,
but I would take if you sold me three super
Bowls one from here to retirement, I'm taking the over.
I get him the six. But you see what I'm saying, Like,
(09:49):
if you said it the two and a half super
Bowls won from now to the retirement, I'm taking the
over two and a half. Think about it. I'll take
the over. And see.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
The reason why I'm with you on the over is
because the AC is so loaded in quarterbacks. But there's
these question marks with the teams like Lamar, like them
losing that game like hurt me. And I'm not even
a Ravens fan, but everybody knows me, knows I'm an
l Jacks guy.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
That's my guy. And him losing that game.
Speaker 4 (10:14):
It just you got Herbert who had turnover galorees in
his playoff appairs. Joe Burrow didn't get there. You know
what I'm saying, Oops, didn't get there. There's ANFC quarterbacks.
So the AFC's loaded with quarterbacks. Yeah, there's three of
them that didn't get there. Man, they didn't get to
players one did and then turn the ball over a
career high within that game. It's easy that I think
(10:34):
my host is definitely winning like one or two more
three just depends on what happens with these other teams.
But to Josh Allen really quick, and I want to
read something here from a fan that tweet he tweeted
minutes last weekend, and he says it's a lucky go
get her nine eight nine.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Lucky go getter nine eight nine listens.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Every week, twets me a lot, But he says, I
request that you change and give Josh Allen another nickname
other than Apple turnover, even though it sounds cool, but
in the biggest games this year, he has not been that,
including the game we just watched, and I said, My
response was, what up, homie, Josh Upper Turnover. Allen's postseason
isn't finished, and one turnover free postseason doesn't change the
(11:13):
nickname player.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
But I'll tell you this, if he wins it all
this year, I retired.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
The nickname for a full year, and I'll give him
the respect that he deserves being a Super Bowl winning quarterback.
But just for him to win this game, to me,
doesn't change anything about Josh Allen.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
It's he finally won an AFC championship game after.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
About five years of people telling everybody and people telling
us that this guy's gonna take the Buffalo.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Bills to a championship. This is what we've been hearing,
and it hasn't happened yet.
Speaker 4 (11:40):
So if he gets there finally, it's like, okay, no problem, brother,
I give you that, you got the AFC crown, but
you gotta.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Go win it. Are You're just Jim Kelly all over again.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
And Jim Kelly's a Hall of Famer, But Jim Kelly
will still go down as the quarterback that with the.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
Four straight Super Bowls and lost all of them.
Speaker 5 (11:55):
It just is what it is.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
To me.
Speaker 4 (11:57):
My mind's made up, and maybe there's a little biasness.
They're fine, whatever, but I just think he is who
he is. He's had a great year. Not gonna take
that away from him, but he just kind of is
who he is.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
And if he turns the ball over one time tomorrow,
that's not quite fair. One turn it over tomorrow, turn
it over and cost your team the game tomorrow. I
told you, Martin, I thought two years ago there window closed.
But I've said they'll win some games. Martin, they'll make
a playoff run from time.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
But you're talking about holding the Lombardi not just making
a run. Do I think they're a hold the Lombardi team.
Speaker 5 (12:30):
No?
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Do I think he's a hold the Lombardi quarterback. No.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
And tomorrow he faces the greatest quarterback in the game,
and in my opinion top five. I don't know where
I have him yet. He's not number one, but he's
definitely top five of all time. But you're facing that
guy with history. Kelsey, Andy Arrowhead, bron good luck tomorrow,
don't turn it over at McDuff Bosco prat I called
(12:53):
you go get one for me, homie, j get one.
Speaker 6 (12:56):
I would say, though, is the way that you just
set it up makes it sound like Josh Allen does
have a lot on the line.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
He's got like how many, right, I'll take the guy
that's going for three straight world championships in the NFL
over the guy that's never been to one Super Bowl
game yet.
Speaker 6 (13:14):
I would ask that with the Jim Kelly comparison, would
you even say Josh Allen's on that level If he
can't even make a super Bowl in the first place.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
He's below Jim. He's way below Jim Kelly went the four.
Speaker 6 (13:23):
So in theory, he has a lot riding on this
game because if he can't even make a super Bowl
and there's no guaranteeing he I mean, they probably will.
They're the Bills that keep getting back to the AFC Championship,
but there's no guaranteeing they do. That's a lot on
the line here because if they don't, he may never
make a super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
We've seen him in AFC Championship games before, right, and
he can't beat Mahomes. He can't get over that hump
October November for him. He just never can beat him
in Genuay. But that's also why there's a huge game
for him.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
I just think he is who I just I think
he is who I always and a lot of people
have always thought he was very talented, ian, good, good
to great core back. I'm not saying he's not, but
to a whole the Lombardy guy, absolutely not. And I'm
not gonna change my unless I see him hold one.
That's just what he is to me. And Pat's got history, bro,
(14:13):
this is three in a row. Well, he's got more.
Josh has something on him too, guys. I'm not saying
he doesn't, But the question is who has more Tomorrow?
In my opinion is Pat mahomes by far because it's history.
We're talking about Josh Allen get two Super Bowls, not history.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Well, they made history, this NFL team by making what
seems to be on a very silly decision.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
Generally, if you have a successful business, it makes a
little bit of sense. Okay, I'll promote from within when
the CDO retires.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
If your business is going bankrupt, it's best to look outside.
One NFL owner, while he has billions more money than
I do, might want to take that advice.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
Tell you who coming up next? Martin White' Vitre Husky,
and a Fox Sports Football Saturday.

push to talk walkie talkies for clear national LTE coverage
and one touch communication, peace of mind for connecting with
(15:36):
the family in an emergency. Rapid radios dot com or
right now for up to sixty percent off and free
shimpy And uh, you know, speaking of sixty percent off,
do you think that Jerry thought he was gonna get
sixty percent off by hiring Brian Schottenheimer to be the
head coach because Brian was already there. Maybe he saved
on moving expenses, Maybe he saved on your relocation fees.
(15:59):
Because that's the only logical explanation I can think too
as to why Jerry make the move to promote a
guy who has never had a top five offense in
his career ever.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
And I said last week, why did you fire McCarthy?
That was stupid? It are not fired. Didn't re up
his deal?
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Okay, semantics, it was not a smart move because the
candidates that you have out there, like the jig is up,
you don't want.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
To really go coach for Jerry Jones. Sorry, news flash,
when when When?
Speaker 8 (16:29):
When?
Speaker 3 (16:30):
Like breaking news, right, you.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Don't want to, you can't because he's the GM, he's
the owner, he's the last say, he's got a radio show.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
He talks right after that. It's a lot.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
McCarthy was perfect for him because all he wants to
do is coach ball. All he wants to do is
coach the pig skin.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
And now you're gonna promote like from within, but things
aren't really going well where that guy was in control
of things. Why would you do that? Why did you
just throw the money at Pete Carroll, our big name
like that and just go pull that off. He couldn't
even get that done.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
I think this weird. This move was weird. And Dallas
and remember remember I told you.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
Over the summertime after CD got paid, I want to
see how I want to see how long he plays nice.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
I want to see how long.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
CD like because that you could just kind of feel
his personality and I'm not saying anything like negative about him.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Receivers of divas, there's a good diva, there's a bad diva.
There's divas that are good. There's been receivers that were
devas that Jerry Rice was a deva okay, Jerry Rice
used to make sure that his stuff was pressed and everything.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
He's a diva. He's the one that came up with
to say, when you look good, you feel good. When
you feel good, you play good. When you play good,
they pay good. And when they pay good, you and
your family lived good. Jerry said it first. Homie Deone
stole it. Jerry said it first. Oh exception, Yeah, Jerry's
toold it. Jerry said it first. Dion just took it
and we knew it because it's probably but this whole
(17:49):
move was just really weird and it's so Dallas right now.
But I'm interested to see how Dak and how CD
act all next season and then kind of move until
the twenty sixth season. I guarantee you Lamb will be allowed.
Guy trying to get out of it. I don't like
this move. I think it's only taken Dallas backwards and
it just looks bad and it was just a really
(18:10):
weird move. I couldn't understand it.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
I was on a podcast blind Emmett obviously Big and
Fox Sports Radio, he and some other DJ.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
When I tell you I'm talking about my guy, I'm
talking about true p One Malard militia level. They knew
they locked and they're listening right now. I'm sure of it.
I told them because they asked me to come on,
and they actually they knew not only tanks, they knew everything.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
You know, they know.
Speaker 2 (18:38):
Yeah, Emmett's very, very smart, and I told him the
clearest plass for the Dallas Cowboys is now going to
be in the past for the Vegas Raiders.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
And we'll talk about that after Steve's up there. But
here's the deal with Dallas.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
So Jerry Jones runs the Dallas Cowboys like they're a
college program. Like if you're the Ohio State Buckeyes, your
primary goal is to win national championships, but you also
got to be Michigan, Yes, right, yes, but your head
(19:16):
coach also has to be a guy from Ohio State.
The guy that played at Ohio State or coach at
Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Has got to be a Buckeye or from Ohio Youngstown
Stevelyn Camton Demware the University of Michigan. Same story.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Goals to win national champions go ahead, win the national championship,
lose five games in the road, Ohio State, lose six
games in the road Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
You know what people are going to be furious. You
know what, people want a Michigan man. Now, Jerry doesn't
understand or doesn't care that in the.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
NFL, it does not matter who you beat, as long
as you beat somebody thirteen or so times to be
able to qualify for the postseason.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
It does not matter who you hire, as long as
that high is able to organize your team in such
a way that you're.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Able to win those thirteen to fifteen game you have
to to ensure a high seed in the postseason.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
None of that matters.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
But Jerry wants to promote a company man because that's
the only way the Cowboys can get the credit.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
If he brings in somebody who's outside.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Now it's you know, it's not about he brings out
somebody outside of the fold.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
It's not gonna be about the environment and the culture.
Give you prime example that environment and coach ain't winning anyway,
you might as well go outside. Nobody is talking about
how great the Washington Commanders vibes were prior to Dan
Quinn walking in the doors, right right, you know what
I'm saying. But Dan Quick came in set the culture.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Dan Campbell in Detroit nobody's talking about how great the
Detroit culture was before Dan Campbell came in and set
a new culture.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
Jimmy Burger's in the charges. You know it, All three
of those people have in common. They didn't work there
before now they were working somewhere else. You know, they
did not get promoted from with then I'll tell you.
I said, Look, if you work at Amazon and the
CEO steps down, maybe it's a good idea to promote
the senior vice president. The company's been pretty successful.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
If you work at Blockbuster, maybe you want to hire
an outside consultant. Maybe you want to hire an outside consult.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
Zales, you know, Montgomery Wards, Autumn Stores. You know what
I'm saying, Kmart, Kodak.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
Not Kodak black Camera. Maybe you want to hire an
outside consultant. Because all of these bull were very, very
successful pre Internet, just like the Dallas Cowboys, and since
the invention of Wi Fi, they ain't hurt much about them.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Si he says, dial up Cowboys go back to dial up.
So but yeah, I'm with you, man, it was a
weird move.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
I wanted. I thought Pete Carroll.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Heed to hire Pete Carroll, I'd have got it and
speaking of the Silver and Black, added a little bit
more silver to their.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Logo with Pete Carroll coming too. He's loaded today. We'll
have that and more coming up after Steve the saga
Steve busy day in sports. What's up, Steve Hey, that's
a very good line. Thank you for that.
Speaker 9 (22:11):
The formal announcement came from the Raiders today. Yes, Pete
Carroll is their new head coach. He did not coach
this past season after fourteen years with the Seahawks, Carol.
He'll turn seventy four in September, so he'll be the
oldest head coach in NFL history. Reportedly gets a contract
for three years plus a team option. You mentioned Dallas
(22:31):
back in the Troy Aikman and Company days. Of course,
it was three years out of four they won the
Super Bowl through the nineteen ninety five season. Since then,
every team in the NFC has made the NFC Championship
Game except Dallas. Now that Washington has made one for
the first time since the early nineties, that'll be on
Fox TV tomorrow, Washington at Philadelphia Sunday, three pm Eastern Time.
(22:55):
Washington defensive tackle Ron Payne is out for the game
with knee and finger injuries. Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe
Brady will stay in Buffalo after interviewing for the Saints
head coach opening New Orleans will have a second interview
with Kellen Moore. The Saints planned to speak with former
Dallas coach Mike McCarthy. They just talked to Mike Kafka.
Raven's defensive back Marlon Humphrey was fined about forty five
(23:17):
thousand dollars for using his helmet in a hit on
Bill's quarterback Josh Allen last week. The Bills are at
Kansas City tomorrow for the AFC Crown and Yes. Buffalo
safety Taylor Rapp is out Sunday with back and hip injuries.
The Lions promoted Kelvin Sheppard to defensive coordinator. The jets
new general manager is Darren Moogie from Denver. To college
(23:38):
basketball getting underway, It's number one Auburn hosting number six
ranked Tennessee Number seven Houston has fallen behind about three
minutes to go at Kansas Jayhawks sixty one fifty seven
in the lead. Currently on Fox TV, it is nineteenth
ranked Yukon trailing at Xavier in the first half twenty
one to eighteen earlier. It was Vanderbilt beating number nine Kentucky.
(24:01):
Texas came back to edge thirteenth rank Texas A and
M in overtime. Number fourteen Mississippi State won at South Carolina.
Minnesota upset number fifteen Oregon. Three finals in from the NBA.
Out of the fourteen games on the Saturday schedule in
Paris this morning for some of US, Indiana wound up
wiping the floor with San Antonio. One thirty six to
(24:23):
ninety eight was the final. Minnesota and Denver's four game
winning streak won thirty three one oh four. Anthony Edwards
thirty four points. He had been questionable due to illness.
Boston wins at Dallas one twenty two to one oh seven.
The heat now up eighty six sixty eight at the
Nets with ten minutes to go. The Nets tonight retired
Vince Carter's number fifteen dat Charlotte. The Hornets do have
(24:45):
Lamello Ball and Miles Bridges back from injuries, and there
are head seventy six fifty seven over the Pelicans in
the third quarter. And in case you didn't see yesterday,
the Celtics and NBA store sales are number one in
team merchandise so far this season for the first time
in seventeen years. Lakers now number two, Nicks number three.
This is based on receipts from the first half of
(25:05):
this season. As far as top selling individual jersey, Steph
Curry number one, Lebron James number two, Jason Tatum number three,
Lakers at Golden State. Just getting underway.
Speaker 2 (25:16):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin and j coming to
you live from me tirerac dot Com Studios.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
Steve just mentioned it.
Speaker 2 (25:24):
Pete Carroll, don't ever say you can't teach an old
dog new tricks, because I don't know if the dogs.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Get much older than Pete Carroll at this point.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
But he is the new head coach of the Las
Vegas Raiders after being really forced into upstairs in Seattle.
He did not want to stop coaching the Seahawks a
few was it last year he worked in the front office.
This season, heard rumors that he was interested in Chicago.
Now he finally ends up in Vegas, where it seems
(25:53):
that Tom Brady is calling not one, not two, not three,
but literally all of the shots.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
Good.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
It should be time I'm Brady calling the shots because
the guy's got to know what he's doing. I mean,
you're in New England and that factory all those years
and seven times Super Bowl champion, been to ten of them.
So I would let him call some and he's Tom
Brady would let him call some shots too.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
I love this move. I love this move. This might
be my favorite higher so far in this offseason. It
really might be Pete Carroll. Let me tell you one
thing he can do. He can coach football. And I
feel sorry for Antonio Peers. I do.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
But you know what, when I saw this, the question
I asked myself is I don't know how good of
a coach Antonio Pierce was. I don't We only got
him for one year with no quarterback, his best players,
this tight end, who's the best tight end in football,
his star d N guy kind of shut it down.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
For a Ninjura was like, and then I'm sure they're
listen the season's loss.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
I thought they should have moved him at the trade deadline,
like Miles Garrett, get guys like that, get him out
of there, let them go be.
Speaker 3 (26:48):
They've given you enough.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
It's okay to reset, get a bunch of picks and
rebuild and restart. But what we didn't know is whether
the guy could coach or not. He didn'tet the opportunity
to show the world. Fine, but if you're gonna go elsewhere,
fire that guy. Gains somebody else. Get somebody that you know.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Can coach football, and that's Pete Carroll. Like him or not,
Pete Carricker coach football.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
I banged on him my first I think three or
four years in radio professionally because I hate the way
he left Reggie Busch.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Holding all the evidence when he walked away from UFC.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
It took the Seattle job and left him and he
got allowed back before Reggie Busch got allowed back, and
that made me like kind of shut off the guy.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
But I never knocked the fact that he knows the
game and he could coach football. This is what they need.
He'll get his quarterback.
Speaker 4 (27:27):
Remember remember when Flynn from the Packers signed that big
free agent deal with Seattle and Pete brought him over,
and then they drafted Russell Wilson and Russell stole his
job in preseason and the rest was history.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
They came in Quinn. Dan Quinn right.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
Put that defense that leads you to boom together there
and ended up taking that team to Super Bowl and
winning the Super Bowl, like Pete Carroll was the instrument
guy for that. He's gonna do the same thing with
the Raided Raider fans. Listen, He'll get you your quarterback.
He's gonna get it in this draft.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
Trust me on that.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
You guys are gonna be five I have six games
better next year. He is a culture changer. The minute
he walks in your franchise is better. That's how I
feel about piece of Carroll's ability to coach football. This
is a great move, I think so far, it's my
favorite higher and I look for big things. He's got
pieces they ain't and they're not bums there. They got
bon to file all pro football players there, and you're
(28:21):
gonna give it to a guy like Pete Carroll who's
now gonna rebuild you know what else.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
He's really good at tumartin.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
He finds guys what fifth, sixth, fourth, seventh, undrafted right
and turns these guys into all pros, Pro Bowlers and
household names.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
He's gonna do the same thing with the Raiders. I
applaud this. This, This was my favorite draft pick.
Speaker 4 (28:39):
This is my favorite coach signing right here, he's gonna
turn around five plus games better next year.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
So I agree, this was one of my favorites.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
He was one of my especially when you consider the
teams that had the availabilities.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
Right when I look at what they needed, who they needed,
A lot of them needed, quite honestly, a return to respectability. Yes,
Pete car Rrol will provide that. Pete Carroll provide an
adult in the room. Carlson Palmer said, that's the best
coach he's ever played for, is Pete Carroll.
Speaker 2 (29:07):
I love the fact that Pete Carroll is the coach
here in Vegas because here that is the team. Now,
I grew through what Antonio peers, but Antonio Pierce was done. Yeah,
the moment that Tom Brady became a minority. You don't
spend all that money to keep things the same. Yeah,
nobody is spending all that money.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
He's he's wiping the board, cleaning exactly and starting fresh and.
Speaker 2 (29:28):
Doing it in his image, right because he hired John Spytech,
the guy he's an assistant GM and Tampa Bay. Do
I know if he's any good. Let's be honest. The
only the people that know are the people in the
room with him. The difference is Tom in the room
with him those years. The guy Tom could have chose
a lot of guys he chose, He chose him right.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
So the thing I love the most about it, though,
is when you're looking at these older coaches, right, like
Belichick was in the mix for some of these, you
know the conversations at least, But Pete Carroll he hired,
He's hired, uh four guys who went on to coach
head coaching job, Dan Quinn, Dave Canalys, Steve Sarksian, Lane Kiffin.
(30:08):
All these guys at points worked for Pete Carroll, Dan Campbell,
guys he gave second chances to, by the way, he
just started to starting and Lane. So yeah, so Dan
Campbell right now, right, he just lost six assistant coaches
coach so but definitely his offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator.
Took him four years in Detroit for that to Dan
(30:30):
Kemble to get to that point.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Four years from now, Pete Carroll will be damn near
eighty years old. Four years from now, it'll be time
for Pete Like, like, I think that there's you know,
I get it, he's seventy three and he's still spry,
still young.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
But look there's the old. The closer you get to eighty.
I mean we just look at your look at your
favorite politicians. The older they get, the slower they look right.
You know what I'm saying, you pick them. So it's
kind of the same thing with Pete.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
I think after three years, four years of this, he's
gonna be ready to go off into the sunset on
a level of his terms, the differences. He does a
good job hiring here, which I remember that's one of
the things I think is utmost important for.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
A head coach.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
He does a good job hiring here, they'll be legitimately ready,
not like Dallas who promoted with them because they got
caught with the pants down, but legitimately to promote from
within with who could be one of the hottest coaching
candidates on.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
The market over under four and a half under years. Oh,
I'll take the over your bugging, I think under I
think Kara's going to coach five to six and we're looking.
Speaker 2 (31:31):
Three seventy three to seventy seven. If he get listen,
if this man can do it at eighty, he'll be
still out there. If he can do it at eighty,
what Steve say, Hold, what is he seventy three right now.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
Three? Oh yeah, easily five. That doesn't even put him
in eighty yet. Easily. Pete Carroll will coach five years
for the Las Vegas Raiders. He'll coach five years for them,
So that will require a contract extinch. That's fine.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
He'll get him because he'll get him to the playoffs. There,
I'm saying it right now, they're five to six games better.
Next year, mark my words, they're five to six games better.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
But let's play this out.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Because the AFC West is the only division in AFC
it sent three teams to the playoffs. Man, So if
you're telling me that Pete Carroll is going to the playoffs,
that means one of Sean Payton, Jim Harball or Andy
Reid's gonna miss it.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Yeah, I am telling you that. This is now listen
and the draft has come in. I see. I'm excited
coming say, because I know Pete Carle's gonna draft well, guys,
is what he does.
Speaker 4 (32:30):
So I'm excited to definite see what they do with
this high pick. If they try to go up and
get a quarterback, do they make a move? Shit, did
they make a move for cam Ward?
Speaker 3 (32:35):
Whatever? But somebody right this this division.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Is loaded with winning Super Bowl coaches, national champions.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
Coaches. Yeah yeah, Harboro's got national championship coaching champions. Okay,
they on the coaching level, college appro these guys have
all won. Okay, Pete Carroll's done it on both this Yes,
one of those names, well caliber, we'll say, yeah, that's
all that's winning. It's fine.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
It's fine because he got the natty, you know. I'm
but they're championship coaches, all four of them. Yes, next year,
one of them is not making the playoffs, guys, and
that's what makes it great, that's what And it could
be Pete p could not make it at nine and eight,
but they're gonna win five wood. How many games they
won this year?
Speaker 3 (33:20):
Three?
Speaker 6 (33:20):
Four?
Speaker 3 (33:21):
I did they? What the Raiders do? Five games? Okay?
Speaker 8 (33:24):
Five?
Speaker 3 (33:24):
So five would put him in ten.
Speaker 7 (33:26):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
How much? Four and thirty?
Speaker 4 (33:31):
Okay, so thank you. So five gets him to nine
and eight. So they could be pee out next year.
That's fine. But to go nine and eight after what
they've been and you can see it building, oh god,
that second year. Oh they're winning eleven twelve games. I'm
telling you this right now.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
This is what Pete does.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
He'll get his quarterback to put all the pieces together,
build that the lines were actually really good.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
Got to run it back, got a tight end, right,
I love it. I just do so. You're right though,
one of these guys. They're not gonna That's what I'm saying.
It's like the Raiders making the players. That's that. Just five,
just five, you know what, give me a give me
a week or so. I'll jump out there, you know me, Mariin,
I'll jump out there. I'll tanna see if you're gonna
do it today. All right, we'll see. I've got a
little bit.
Speaker 4 (34:07):
That's what got two hour. We still got two plus O.
You want me to do it right now? I want
to because I feel like you're challenging me. It wasn't
I just the Las Vegas Raiders.
Speaker 3 (34:16):
Okay, here we go.
Speaker 4 (34:17):
The Las Vegas Raiders will be the seventh seed in
the AFC next year into the playoffs. They'll sneak in
it nine and eight. They'll sneak in it nine and eight. Now,
some team's gonna go through injury, somebody's gonna lose a
big time. Guys, there's always a team up here. Guys
that dives off, and there's always a team right here
that shoots up. The Commanders were four wins last year,
(34:38):
they won twelve this year. I mean, look at that
flip and I'm not to say it, but nine to
eight right there at seven, I'll give it to the Raiders.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
At the top of the hour, we'll dive into the
NFC Championship game coming up next, we'll take a look
into the NBA. A little drama going around the league.
Who would have gufted it? Not the NBA, it's who would.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Have thought with that? In just a moment, Martin White,
It's VJ. Husky, Fox Sports Football Saturday.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Fox Sports Radio coming to you live from Hetireck dot
Com studios. It's Martin Weiss and VJ. Husky. The NBA
is in full swing as we are sitting here on
a Fox Sports Football Saturday. We'll take three or four
minutes here and dive into the top five in the
NBA NFC Championship game talk coming up top of next hour,
but for now, the VJ erop.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
Yes, sir, so, I've been watching a lot of NBA
this year, man, I'm getting back into it. And I'm
gonna bring you guys my Power five NBA teams as
we sit right here on January twenty fifth, right now,
so at number five might be very surprised to you guys.
I'm gonna go with the Houston Rockets right here. That's
Martins Houston Rockets. He called them making the playoffs last year,
(35:51):
just missed it. But this year they are playing great basketball. Hey,
that guy that got to a little sundback in Boston
when he was coaching there.
Speaker 3 (35:57):
Guess what, there are a lot of people that thought
you'll never coach in the NBA again, because that's what
I heard. Not only did coach in the NBA again.
He knows how to coach the ball.
Speaker 4 (36:04):
You take the number two overall pick from a few
years ago, you put some other pieces around it to
get the Thompson Twins also down there, and then posting
the pain. They play defense, they rebound the basketball, and
the West is loaded and they are sitting at the
number two seed at twenty nine and fourteen right now.
The Houston Rockets watched them, in the next few years,
they could win a championship. That's the type of team
(36:25):
they have in a type of young stars and head coach.
They have sitting at number five. At number four for
me might be as surprise for some of you guys,
but it's the Memphis Grizzlies at number four right now.
And that's because this feels like marn the lost team.
No one's talking about Jah Morant, who was a hot topic,
who had me and this guy right here not speak
through two commercial breaks because our debates got so hot
(36:48):
and heated on air about Jean Morant two years ago.
Speaker 3 (36:52):
The guy got hurt last year, was.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
Suspended some of the year, and now no one's even
talking about the Memphis Grizzlies. But you know what they're
doing right now now, just beating everybody in the NBA
that they come up against. Everybody they played. I don't
think they beat in Cleveland yet, but they either won
in one or undefeated. They are not owing anything against
anybody in the NBA. This is a really good basketball team,
Jah Morant. They're sitting at thirty and fourteen right now,
(37:14):
third seed in the Western Conference. Jean Moran, we forgot
about this guy.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
He is a star.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
And kudos to that front office that broke this team
up with a lot of guys and me myself was like, God,
why would you take this guy? Wall would you take
this guy? Why we take this guy?
Speaker 5 (37:26):
Way?
Speaker 3 (37:26):
They knew what they were doing.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
That's why I do radio and cover sports as a
sports reporter, and I'm not a GM in the NBA
at number three, the defending champions, I just saw him
by myself, excuse me for myself two nights ago at
Crypto dot Com against the Lakers getting blown out, coming
in on a back to back night though overtime game
against the Clips the night before. Nice nice schedule in
their NBA. Get make sure you get the Lakers the
Cultians that night. They're coming right nor only you give
(37:49):
them a break in that day and then they do
the next game with the Lakers when they were playing
here in the same arena, but defending champions, they still
got tat them. They still got brown Portzingis looks really
good this year the bench.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
They're the defending champions right now.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
I think they're one of those teams that's like, look,
we're like Kansas City Chiefs this year. We could chill
a little bit finished with the two seed because we're
behind Cleveland right now, but when we get to the playoffs,
we can go win a game seven on the road.
We can go win a game five on the road.
We do not need home court first round YEA. And
then from there will show our championship mental and we'll
move forward. At number two, the Cleveland Cavaliers. This team
is legit guys, thirty six and eight. They're five games
(38:23):
over Boston Spider Mitchell at third twenty three and a
half Allen with ten boys and Darius Garland. This team's
legit guys. It wasn't a flu last year. This team
can rebound and listen, think about it. Their coach moves on,
who is now coaching my Pistons, who are over five hundred.
We're trying to get this dugged and I against the
Orlando Magic and bringing a new guy, and all he
does is keep it going.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
But they rebound much better than it did last year.
Speaker 4 (38:42):
They're in the top six and three offensive categories a
think top ten and two defensive categories.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Legit team and the.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
Number one team in my Power five is the old
kseed Thunder. Last year was a learning year, Toadmartin. Last
year they weren't gonna go far, they weren't getting to
the finals. That was a learning year. But they show no, No,
we're legit. And remember Homer has been hurt this year,
been out but SGA thirty two poems six six, don
like this kid's legit.
Speaker 3 (39:07):
As Martin likes to say, what Mark? What size guards
under Kentucky? Martin? Oh over, he No, he's close. But
if you six nine, you're in good ship.
Speaker 4 (39:16):
Martin loves guards that are under six six from Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (39:19):
And he's right, just sixth nine. I thought it was
lower than that. But anyway, Wing got some Kentucky this mare.
It is as long as you can keep cat out
of the out of the ex Yeah. Yeah, but that's
it right there, though. Man, Okay, see up in the
one thirty six and eight. This team is legit. I
think they learned last year. Watch for them right now.
I think they're coming out of the West. They had
their learning year. I think they'll be back and be
(39:40):
into the NBA Finals this year. But that's my top ten,
excuse me, top five power NBA teams right now. Yeah,
John Calipari, you say what you will. I know it's
been ugly at Arkansas thus far, but that man knows
how to pick scores of the basketball turn around. He
will find well.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
Whether he does or not, I just know this, he
knows how to find guys. Put the basketb bucket guards in.
The guards are just it's like Carolina BigMan for so
many years, coming up next. Which quarterback do you trust
more in the NFC. It's not as obvious as you
may think. Martin Wise VJ. Husky, Fox Sports Football Saturday.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
We're coming to you live from the tire rack dot
Com studios tire iraq dot com.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
We'll help you get there.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
With the unmatched election, fast free shipping, free road has
a protection and over ten thousand recommended to the stallers
tire Act dot Com. It's the way that tire buying
should be. We did talked about the Bills and the
Chiefs in the first hour of the show.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
Who had more at stake, and honestly, the answer is
both of them. Both of them.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
My homes with the opportunity to go ahead and make
NFL history with that triple, that three peat that we've
not seen before, and then Josh Allen outlied the case
for him.
Speaker 3 (40:58):
A lot of people probably think he is.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
A no doubt Hall of Famer well, a win tomorrow
helps solidify that case, which is much shakier than I
think the average fan would understand if Josh Allen were
to retire tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
Let's be clear, mahomes retire tomorrow. He is walking in
through the Hall of Fame backwards, walk in, walk in,
walk in in that joint. Now, two quarterbacks and the
Eagles Commanders Jays.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Now, let's try our best to do this. I've tongue
twisted myself a few times over this week. I've seen
everybody else do it. It is Jalen hurts j Daniels.
Speaker 3 (41:45):
So there we go.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
Promise only mess it up three more times the rest
of the segment. No, So they have this match up
here in a game in which another chance for a
team to make history, a player to make history.
Speaker 3 (41:56):
Jaden and Daniels and the Commanders win this game.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
It'll be the first time time a rookie quarterback makes
the Super Bowl in general. Right now, and you look
at the other ones, there's been something because yeah, okay,
all right, well yeah that's a that's a diasterisk up
in the corner. But yeah, yeah, so guys start a
Super Bowl game and be the starter all season. Uh,
(42:19):
this will be the first opportunity that we had that
we had almost had it with Brock Perdy in Philadelphia,
speaking up Philadelphia. But that was the scene Graham ripped
his arm apartment. Sorry, who almost had it with big Ben?
Speaker 3 (42:31):
Big Ben? Okay, so here's the thing. He went on
to run but got knocked out, big Ben, You had
it there.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
Great defense, Sean King, Fox Sports Radio consistent contributor, Great defense, right,
Mark Sanchez, Great defense.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
Commanders, Okay, defense, So so defense, all right there, it's time.
Speaker 4 (42:51):
No, no, I got the word for you. The commanders
have a very timely okay time, they have a very time.
They make plays just at the right time, even if
you've been moving the ball on him.
Speaker 3 (43:01):
But an opportunistic defense, I'll take that too.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
So speaking of that commander's defense, the head man of
that defense is Joe Witt Junior. You may never heard
that name before, but if you did hear it this week,
it's because of what he said about Jalen Hurts and
this Philadelphia offense. Let's go ahead and hear and get
VJ response to it.
Speaker 10 (43:23):
Right now, we've had a number of these guys we've
had to prepare for, and so the one thing is
is if he's going to run the ball, and if
the coordinator makes a decision for him to run the ball,
we're gonna treat him like a running back. We're going
to hit him that way. That's their decision if they
want to get him hit the way that he gets hit.
If they don't, they'll keep me in the pocket. So
that's that's what we're going to do.
Speaker 2 (43:43):
Keep in mind, the reports out of Philadelphia say that
Jalen Hurts is practicing. However, likely we'll have a knee
brace on for this game. He suffered at left knee
injury after I believe it was Jared Verse sacked him
in the game last week week against the Rams.
Speaker 3 (44:02):
I don't mind it, I get it.
Speaker 4 (44:04):
Listen, at this point in the season, there's four teams left.
There's four teams left. This is to go play for Lombardi.
This is just his biggest Super Bowl Sunday, Conference Championship Sunday.
To me, it's just the biggest Super Bowl Sunday super
bowls just you know, the icing, the cherry on the
proverbial Sunday or cake, whatever example you want to use.
Speaker 2 (44:24):
There, All right, Conference Championship weekend I'll give it right.
Conference chimpions a weekend is walking into the party for
the first two hours.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
And seeing all who's there. Yeah, super Bowl is when
it's time to close the deal, exactly, and it's.
Speaker 4 (44:36):
Still the same PARTI the same party man like Conference Champion.
This is this is real and I'm not I'm with
them if you want to. If you if you're supposed
to hit people in football, I used to tell my
kids at Birmingham's Son that's why they give you pads.
They give you pads because you're supposed to go collide
into another human being.
Speaker 3 (44:53):
And listen, you gotta hit them. You don't want to
go soft on them. You gotta treat them. When you
get outside the pocket, run it. You're a runner. But
Jalen don't run like no sucker. Jalen do run like
he's soft.
Speaker 4 (45:05):
Jalen runs and Jalen lowers his shoulder and there already
gets tight of bounds against down smartly like like he's
supposed to.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
So yeah, if you want to, you know we're gonna
treat him like a running back. I don't mind him
saying it.
Speaker 4 (45:15):
This is for a trip to go play for the
Super Bowl. This is for the NFC Crown, which don't
mean nothing, but you do get a trophy for it.
Is that the Lamar Hunt.
Speaker 3 (45:24):
I think Lamaro might be in an AMC, is AFC,
so I get the Lamar Hunt Trophy and NFC gets
the drug. But this is the hold Dad Trophy. And
have your fans and your teams know. In two weeks
we go play in the super Bowl. The most watched,
the most watched sporting event every year forever will be
the super Bowl. We get to play for that.
Speaker 4 (45:40):
So I don't mind him saying this. He's letting his
defense know we're gonna hit him. You gotta hit him.
You gotta attack. You can't go soft.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
You gotta.
Speaker 4 (45:46):
But I'm pretty sure, I'm pretty sure Hurts knows this.
I'm pretty sure Daniels knows this. Both teams are gonna
attack these guys and say way because both these teams
can hurt.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
Both these guys can hurt you with their legs. So
I don't mind the message.
Speaker 7 (46:00):
To me.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
This is to me, this is a tough guy football talk.
This is a tough man football. So this is listen,
We're gonna hit him, and we're gonna hit him, treat
him like a running back. You want to run, We're
gonna treat you like that all damn day long. Week
ate this saint Week twelve to eight. Week four this
is conference Championship Sunday. We're there's you don't leave nothing
on the table. I don't have a problem with this
at all, Marty.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
Interesting you said week twelve. This is that Week twelve
was the last time these two teams played.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
Yeah, I can't be right. Week fourteen. I thought they played.
Speaker 4 (46:26):
I thought they played late in the year when Jaalen
the Commanders came back. The Commanders came back and wonteen
or fourteen.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
That was late.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
The winner of this game was gonna take home the
George Hallis Trophy and a champion. Yeah, Hollis Trophy winner.
But here's the deal, uh Joe Witt Junior and I agree.
I have no problem with it at all. And in fact,
I am a big fan of the news that dropped
earlier today out of Adam Schefter saying that the uh
(46:52):
there will be expanded replay assist to include quarterback slide.
Speaker 8 (46:58):
Right.
Speaker 2 (46:58):
You still after the story of my homes and so on.
We'll get to that topic in general in a moment.
Speaker 3 (47:03):
But to the point. I agree.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
If you are a if you are a quarterback that
is outside of the pocket, guess what you have lost
all your protection?
Speaker 8 (47:12):
Right.
Speaker 2 (47:12):
If it's like if you have insurance, there are certain
things you cannot do to your car and it will
violate the terms of set it on fire yourself.
Speaker 3 (47:21):
Right, Exactly, I can't do that. You can't take them
muffler off. They'll expect insurance short, right, you have to
do follow the rules of the insurances. Homeowners asserts the
same deal. Your your additions have to be checked and
they have to qualify all the difference relations in order
to be covered. If you leave the pocket, you have
(47:44):
chosen to ensue your insurance. You are now your safety
is up to you.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
I agree with that one hundred and I love the
fact that he's gonna go out there and say it
and put.
Speaker 3 (47:55):
Set the tone. Set the tone, man, let him know
we're gonna we're coming for you. Here's the problem. Here's
the problem. The Eagles.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
Are eleven and one when Jalen Hurts has less than
thirty attempts the Eagles, and the one loss was the
game in which he.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
Got knocked out.
Speaker 2 (48:14):
This game against the Commanders, the Eagles are three to
zero when Jalen Hurts throws for less than two hundred
and fifty yards on the flip side, oh to three
when he throws over two hundred and fifty yards. The
Eagles have never in the time of Nick Sirianni and
Jalen Hurts won a postseason game in which Jalen Hurts
(48:35):
has thrown for over one hundred and sixty yards. With
all that being said, it seems to me, based off
of the numbers and the statistics and just watching the games,
the Eagles are a much better team when Jalen Hurts
is running the ball, if not the same frequency, has
thrown the ball, running the ball more.
Speaker 3 (48:56):
And of course every pass attempt you have is another
attempt at say one Barkley does not get. Yeah, and
let's thank you for think excellent segue to me, because
even though we're talking about Jalen Hurt and running the
football and on to say, man, that guy, that guy,
that's that guy that lines up behind him. Wow, Wow,
like you should be worried about hitting him. That's the
(49:16):
guy you're gonna have to hit more than youre gonna
have to hit Jalen and Jyleen I'm telling you right now, Marian,
I'm calls right now, Jalen's gonna have plays where when
he when he does take off.
Speaker 4 (49:25):
And run, it's gonna be so open because they're gonna
have to expend so much mental and visual attention to
Saquon Barkley. Jalen Hurts is gonna have an RPO read tomorrow, guys.
I promise you that goes for thirty more yards. When
he pulled, he run thirty yards in a row. I'm
not saying that to be Look after the left Nick.
Speaker 3 (49:41):
We saw it in the first quarter, forty four yards
up the side right after he got hit though he
was stationary.
Speaker 4 (49:46):
Well, that's fine, he'll break he'll break one. He'll he'll
break one. And what that does, though, is one one makes.
Speaker 3 (49:52):
That defensive end hesitate that second the rest of the game.
That one second.
Speaker 4 (49:59):
Is that difference between this hitting the goal line or
you stopping him because you didn't hesitate and at one
foot that you were gonna need You got it because
you didn't hesitate, or he got it because you hesitated.
That's what Jalen Hurts brings on any erpo and the
way Sakwan is running right now, like.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
I I'm even more I'm even more ticked off that
he didn't. They didn't let him go for the record
for the production he's put on the field in the playoffs.
The thing about the pre put out there, which you
don't get me wrong, impressive and you know what, I
honestly for the No, it's not the the first time. Anyway,
when Sakuan broke it against the Rams and scored the touchdown,
(50:39):
I was like, thank you for not going down like it.
Just run the ball through the end zone. Score points,
all right. Anyway, he could have did it in the
wildcard game and he slid down. He could have broke
that one, right. But that's that's one of the things
that drive me out.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
So the Eagles have rushed for over two hundred and
seventeen and a half yards in their playoff wins under
her so far in this in this timeframe, right, So
he throws for less than one hundred and sixty, they're
running for damn near two twenty.
Speaker 3 (51:07):
That's the recipe in their losses eighty four yards. Now,
I believe Jalen Hurts' ability to run is going to
be severely impacted because the last time we saw him
play after he got hit. He wasn't running. Now maybe
you know who knows what he happened in the week,
who knows what they can inject in by that, thank you,
thank you. But also when you look at it.
Speaker 2 (51:27):
When you look at their third and fourth down conversions,
third and one, fourth and one, the plan is generally.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
Jalen hurts, tush push, don't love it. Don't love that.
Speaker 2 (51:36):
For that reason, here's the other thing you talked about
Saquan and what he's put out there this year, no
doubt about it. Probably has a much stronger case for
MVP than anybody really cared to make. And I if
you were making, yeah, I'm talking about like he across
the board, he probably should have been runner up, if
not the guy, especially NFC MVP.
Speaker 3 (51:58):
For sure, he's a finalist. We'll find out the NFL honors.
Speaker 2 (52:00):
But they had Saquan had a sixty nine yard run
in the first quarter against that commander's team.
Speaker 3 (52:08):
The rest of the game only.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
Rushed, I believe, for sixty some yards. That's with Kenny
Pickett in there, obviously, But to me, the book is
out on Philly. Like you you want them to throw
the ball, you want them to.
Speaker 3 (52:20):
Throw the ball.
Speaker 4 (52:21):
But that's a dangerous game to play with two They
got two generals by the name of A. J. Brown
and Davonte Smith. You want them to throw the ball? Okay, Look,
I know we do the picks at the top of
the our next segment. I just looked that on a rundown,
so I'm not getting my pickaway. But I'm gonna tell
you right now, Washington, this isn't This isn't the Lions defense,
and it's also not the Lions offense.
Speaker 3 (52:42):
You know, Lion's out.
Speaker 4 (52:42):
I think the Lions, I would think we all would
agree the Lions have a more oppotent offense than Philly.
But once again, they also don't have a Jalen Hurt.
Now he may not have Golf's arm and accuracy, but
Golf doesn't have his legs. That's huge. And if you
want me to throw, no problem, slip up on the
back end, slip up on the back end on one
of these guys. Fine, I'll go ahead. I'll throw it
to one of these guys right here. Remember Jalen sat
(53:03):
down one time. Is that what y'all wanted? Is this
what you wanted to see? I mean, were not throwing
the ball, and it just to me, just get the
dubb That's how I really do look at football. They
just get the dubbed. There's all gonna be people. Oh
they're not running enough, they're not throwing up.
Speaker 3 (53:14):
Did they win? Did they win? That's all I want
to know.
Speaker 4 (53:17):
Okay, so then what they did work there because they
won the game. So you know, damn to throw if
you want, but it's just gonna be hard, man, there's
just too many weapons. Sat Quan is on another I
never thought I would feel the way I feel about
this guy. I never thought I would get to this
spot that I'm matt as a football fan the way
I feel about sa Quan, But he has totally shut
me up. I called him Kajana Carter coming out of
(53:40):
Penn State because that's what I thought it would be.
And then he did get hurt and I went up
dere goals.
Speaker 3 (53:44):
Guys, try to tell you, but the way that young
man is bounced back, he is the best back in football.
And I don't think it's close.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
Christian Derrick Henry, all right, those guys are there, but
I just you want him to throw the ball. Okay,
But I think sa Kwan's I think sa Kwan's gonna
go af He's gonna find one to pop Mark and
he's I think he has I think that's the Eagles
path to winning is Sakwon Barkley.
Speaker 3 (54:08):
Period. Stop. We'll get to that at the top of
next hour. Coming up next though, the Lion. This is
the most important offseason in Lions history, period stop. Rick
project Now see how it really is. I know, but
because last week you call it that game the biggest game,
it was.
Speaker 2 (54:26):
No, no, no, the Minnesota versus Detroit week seventeen. It's
the biggest regular season game in NFL history.
Speaker 3 (54:35):
The wild card, the game in which the Lions lost
with the Commanders was the biggest Lions game and in
Lions history. This is the biggest off season. Last year's
and Albert last year's NFC championship. Absolutely everybody heard you coming.
This year, everybody saw you coming. If you think about it,
Kansas City lost that first AFC Championship game with Patrick Mahomes.
(54:55):
You know what I'm saying. They lost to Brady everybody
saw everybody, everybody.
Speaker 2 (55:01):
Saw him coming. Still went on advanced and win the
Super Bowl. It so you got to get the one
where you're sneaking up on people. When everybody sees you coming,
it's a it's all a different animal coming up next
with Dive into, Ben Johnson, Aaron's Lynn, their levels of
success at the next stop, Martin Whits, Vija Husky, Fox
Sports Football. Saturday football fans, be sure to tune into

or x if you'd like to give us your thoughts. VDA,
you got over.
Speaker 8 (55:56):
There right now.
Speaker 3 (55:56):
Man, A bunch of of them. Man, they all on
us right now, chewing chewing Street, chewy Chwe be showing
us love out in Houston. And he said, uh, he said, guy.
Speaker 4 (56:05):
University of Houston versus Kansas up in the final minute,
also hearing at marn Wise at big Man. That loa
funny as well on a Saturday night. This is why
I love men's college hoops, knowing that football is almost
winding down. There was also too many. Somebody else also
tweeted us about what we thought. Oh here it is
Brandon Brendan Brody, our guy Brendan underscore B eight one
(56:26):
AX said, what are your thoughts on the Pete Carroll
hiring of the Raiders? In my opinion, this means that
they're only back to credibility, but they should have still drive.
They still they still should drive for QB and number
six because the guy their rumor to be wanting and chasing,
Russell Wilson, simply won't cut it.
Speaker 3 (56:42):
That was the party tweet that jumped at me. I
had not heard that of you. That I've heard several people.
I've seen tweets and so on, and so what the
hell let me tell you some what the hell? Let
me tell you something ain't no way the hell, ain't
no way the hell that Pete Carolyn Russell Wilson get
back together. Y'all have forgotten how that breakup went. If
(57:03):
you think they're getting back together, one more dal what
I didn't. I didn't hear that at all.
Speaker 4 (57:10):
That's why I wanted to read out because my eyes
went across that and I was like, NA that he
must have messed up when he typed that.
Speaker 3 (57:15):
There's no way, There's no way Mark, what if? What
if they signed him? Though? So I'm not even going there.
Speaker 2 (57:22):
Speaking of new head coaches, both Lions Coort Dator's offensive
and defensive will be head men and other shitties.
Speaker 3 (57:30):
Now Ben Johnson doing his media tour and uh talking
cash right, talking cool?
Speaker 2 (57:38):
I mean, Matt Laflour is sitting back watching just like
you know, minding his business at the grocery store, trying
to decide do I really need this eighteen dollars card
and the eggs? And then all of a sudden he
gets the notification. Why is Ben Johnson talking about me?
Speaker 8 (57:54):
Right?
Speaker 2 (57:54):
You know Ben Johnson saying I'd love to beat Matt
Lafleur back to back, and you know this whole media
I don't want to say firestorm, that's in trouble.
Speaker 3 (58:03):
What's the media circus around Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears?
VJ your initial takes on Ben, I did not like
this hiring.
Speaker 4 (58:13):
I didn't I thought about Martin has been beating the drum.
He texts Ian and I in our group chat. I
guess it was think it was Sunday about this guy
just is unbelievable. He has like unlimited job offerings. This
guy like and when the minute he got that job,
I said, oh God, I can't wait to hear what
Martin says about this. I don't I don't love it, man,
I don't love it. I really don't. I just thought
(58:35):
he should have stayed where he was. I think it's
better there now you're on you're on front Street. I
don't mind him. I don't really mind him.
Speaker 5 (58:41):
Man.
Speaker 3 (58:42):
You know, calling out another coach is you know, I'm
what am I supposed to do? Like Rick Tryance said,
I'm not here to kiss Bill Belichick's rings.
Speaker 4 (58:49):
I'm not here to kiss I'm not in a kiss
Green Bay Heads coaches ass, I'm here to say I
want to beat him twice and this is what I
want to do.
Speaker 3 (58:56):
That's their biggert Green Bay in Chicago. That's big man.
Speaker 4 (58:58):
And you gotta say something like that when you first
like college coaches, right when they take the job and
they go to the basketball game and they get on
the court at halftime or doing time out, and they
introduce themselves and say they're gonna win championship and we
will beat Michigan and we will be and hey, I
want to be I would love to beat I would
love to beat coach Laflor twice back to back in
the row.
Speaker 3 (59:18):
I have a problem with it. I don't like this hiring.
This hiring worries me. This hiring worries me big time.
Ben Johnson could be out of there in two years. Hey,
the Chicago just doesn't They don't know how to do nothing.
So that's why I'm like, ah, Ben Johnson, Okay.
Speaker 2 (59:33):
But the Chicago Bears needed, in my opinion, with somebody
who's gonna come back and establish a foundation. Ryan Pole
said it himself after hiring Ben Johnson that several steps
were skipped in the development of Caleb Williams and getting him.
Speaker 3 (59:47):
To game day, every day, our every week.
Speaker 1 (59:53):
To me, Ben.
Speaker 3 (59:54):
Johnson is a home run swing, and it's being as
a home run higher. A home run swing does not
always result today. Home run yeah, yeah, home run okay,
a home run swing.
Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
Sometimes we'll have some of the best hitters in the
game on one knee with their batting helmet twisted, twointing
back towards the dugout because they thought it was a
ninety five mile hour fastball and that thing was really
coming out seventy eight.
Speaker 3 (01:00:24):
This is a home run swing, and in my opinion,
what the Bears needed was a high batting average.
Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
They've got to get better every day, right, They've got
to rebuild the foundation, build something around Caleb Williams to
give him the best chance to succeed.
Speaker 3 (01:00:40):
I understand, oh, you.
Speaker 2 (01:00:42):
Got a pair an offensive mind with an offensive quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
I hear it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
I just do not think it's nearly as important as
everybody makes it out to be. You know who's the
great offensive mind last year? Bobby Slowick. You know where
he's shitting right now. The unimp appointment line, Okay, Mike McDaniel.
A few years back, he was the guy who designed
(01:01:09):
Kyle Shanahan's run game. Was there was the tagline behind
Mike McDaniel.
Speaker 3 (01:01:14):
That and that he was black. Those are two things
that everybody was shocked about. You look at Mike McDaniel.
Speaker 5 (01:01:18):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
Those offensers can look good at times, they can look
bad at time. You know what I'm saying. You need
a CEO, head coach, who can hire, who can fire,
who can delegate when the defensive slip and he's in
the defensive room, when the offenser slip and he's in
the offensive room.
Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
He's got a good relationship with everybody on the team
because he coaches everybody on the team.
Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
Ben Johnson will see if he does that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:41):
I know we got to I know we gotta get
to update, but I'm writing it down when we come back.
I want to touch on that because that's the point
the CEO, you and I are big one that see
all the time. Coach I do like a coach calling
offensive defense. But I got I got a name to
throw at you, and I want to see what your
reaction has took.
Speaker 3 (01:01:54):
Let's go to Steve de Seger first and then we'll
get to that in just a moment.
Speaker 9 (01:01:57):
Steve s Dave speaking of home run swing, A Lonzo
is still unsigned. See that's about thirty five homers and
one hundred and seventy strikeouts.
Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
So there's your wreck. Yeah, there it is.
Speaker 9 (01:02:07):
We did have a phenomenal college basketball game tonight. Number
seven Houston wins in double overtime at twelfth rank Kansas
ninety two to eighty six. Houston tied it at the
end of the first ot on a steal at a
three pointer. At number one Auburn, It's tied at sixteen
late first half. Auburn Tigers against number six Tennessee early
second half on Fox TV. Xavier at home is leading
(01:02:31):
nineteenth rank Connecticut fifty three to forty nine halftime. At
number four Alabama, Bama's tied with LSU forty to forty.
Wins in the top ten for Duke and Iowa State,
for Florida and Michigan State, which is eight to zero
in the Big Ten Conference. Vanderbilt beat number nine Kentucky
seventy four sixty nine. Kentucky is three and three in
conference play. NHL wins for Edmonton and Boston. Among the
(01:02:55):
NHL games going, Devils tied three to three at Montreal
with eleven minutes to go. Harris English won the golf
tournament in San Diego by one stroke. Buffalo Bill's offensive
coordinator Joe Brady will be staying in Buffalo after interviewing
for the Saints head coach opening. The Bills are at
Kansas City Sunday for the AFC Crown. The NFC championship
game before that will be on Fox TV three pm
(01:03:17):
Eastern time, Washington at Philadelphia. Washington defensive tackle Deron Pain
is out Sunday with knee and finger injuries. The Jets
new general manager is Darren Moogie from Denver. The Lions
promoted Kelvin Sheppard to defensive coordinator after Aaron Glenn left
to become the Jets new head coach. The Raiders formally
announced Pete Carroll as their new head coach, and Colorado
(01:03:38):
quarterback Shodoor Sanders says he's not sure if he'll throw
it next month. Scouting combine on Friday, he did meet
with the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland and the Giants. Fourteen
NBA games going on, including right now. A Knicks lead
at home early fourth quarter against Sacramento one twelve to
one hundred thirty points for og Onanobi. The Aaron Fox
(01:03:58):
of the Kings is playing after a sprain thumb. At
Charlotte back for the Hornets from injuries Lamello Ball, who
had twenty five points and Miles Bridges, who had twenty two.
Charlotte beat New Orleans won twenty three to ninety two.
The Charlotte record twelve and thirty. Pelicans fall to twelve
and thirty four Miami and Minnesota with wins. Boston won
(01:04:18):
at Dallas won twenty two one oh seven. Indiana won
its game in Paris against San Antonio today one thirty
six to ninety eight. Mid fourth quarter at Orlando, Magic
up ninety nine eighty five on the Pistons Polo Bencaro
with twenty eight points. Rockets still with a double digit
lead at Cleveland with under ten minutes left, one oh
six to ninety one, despite twenty eight points from Darius
(01:04:40):
Garland and Evan Mobley is back. He had missed four
straight games with a strained calf. Raptors leading in Atlanta
eighty six to seventy to start the fourth quarter. Raptors
have a record of twelve and thirty two. Halftime Grizzlies
over the Jazz sixty five fifty seven, and the Lakers
are up one at Golden State fifty four to fifty
three late first half.
Speaker 2 (01:05:01):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin and VJ. Coming to
you live from the tire IRAQ dot Com studios. DJ,
you said you wanted to ask me a few questions.
Speaker 5 (01:05:10):
Do that now?
Speaker 3 (01:05:11):
In about three minutes, four minutes, five minutes, however long
it takes.
Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
Finally, guys, the NFL used some common sense to address
one of the biggest problems.
Speaker 3 (01:05:20):
We'll talk about that just a minute. VJ. You're up.
Speaker 4 (01:05:23):
Yes, I want to throw this name at you because
you talked about CEO. Now Dan Campbell, because this is
playing off of Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson was with the
offense coordinator with the line. So now Dan Campbell has
to fix this like he and and and Ben Johnson's
and Aaron Glynn's just aren't sitting on trees the like
you said, it took them years to get this going
with with with Ben Johnson though once again, see he's
(01:05:46):
not a CEO type guy. He's gonna go there, he's
gonna put an office together. He's gonna be one hundred
percent into calling the plays and be connected to Caleb.
That's why, like you said, home run swing, I don't
know if it's a home run coming home run higher
he's that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:00):
A home run swing. Yeah, it could result in the
home run, also could result.
Speaker 2 (01:06:03):
In strikeout, a ball, your bat flying into ten rows
behind first back Peter.
Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
Alonso being unsigned in January, they start, they start free
trading in like two weeks and Peter A Lonzo still
doesn't have a deal somewhere there. But with with Dan
Campbell losing a guy like him, I mean losing like
a guy like Ben Johnson, how do you think this
plays out for them?
Speaker 8 (01:06:27):
Man?
Speaker 3 (01:06:27):
How do you think this really does playoff?
Speaker 8 (01:06:28):
Well?
Speaker 2 (01:06:28):
I said, it's the biggest offseason that they've had in
their literal in their history, because he's got to replace
both coordinators and he's he already has hired from within
for one of them, and the rumors alreadys thinking about
doing that again. Scotty Montgomery running backs being promoted to
offensive coordinator.
Speaker 3 (01:06:45):
He what do you do with the DC there? Well,
he's already hired Kelvin Shepard. Okay, So oh Shepherd's gonna
be okay, so former defensive back? All right.
Speaker 2 (01:06:53):
So the thing is, though Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn
were both interior, they were promoted. Yeah, they were promoted
from within after he let go of Anthony Lynn.
Speaker 3 (01:07:04):
And I know actink.
Speaker 2 (01:07:05):
Aaron Glen might have been his day one DC, but
there a lot of claims to should have fired him
after years one and two, he stuck with him. Now
he's one of the hottest head coaching candidates out So
that's my thing.
Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
I think.
Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
I also think that Aaron Glenn, if we look at
this real quickly, I think he's set up to be
a better coach than Ben Johnson. Is first round pick,
seeing all sides of leaving where he is. Okay, first
round pick. He's been cut before, he's been traded before,
He's experienced the entire league as a player. Came in
a couple of years after worked in corporate America, didn't
like it, came in scouted for the Jets, Okay, grind
(01:07:39):
his way up to the coaching staff on the Jets Okay,
then went played under Parcels coach under Sean Payton on
the offense.
Speaker 3 (01:07:46):
Sean Payton obviously head coaching New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
Aaron Glenn coach DB's there, understands the offensive side of things.
Coach under Dan Campbell. Well do Sean Payton and Dan
Campbell have in common in terms of the franchises that
they were their best at two old long family ownership businesses, right,
So that just also give you a little bit of
understanding of how to maneuver with that. Now, Woody Johnson
(01:08:10):
I think is out there in terms of a way
that we haven't seen otherwise.
Speaker 3 (01:08:13):
But again, his grandkids help guess what he's known Aaron
since Aaron Glenn was nineteen. It was two years old
the draft they drafted him.
Speaker 4 (01:08:22):
Sorry, there you go, and real fast, Ben Johnson, this
works out in your eyes. I I think it's middle,
a little road or low, and I think it could
be fired within two to three years.
Speaker 3 (01:08:30):
I think so too. I'd say two years too soon.
Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
If I just said the over under, I said it
at three and a half under under. I didn't over
just barely. I think that this has a chance to
be it.
Speaker 3 (01:08:42):
Don't get me wrong. I again, like I said, a
home run swing. This very well could be the next
Sean McVay. It also could be the next you know,
Mike McDaniel.
Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
Right, you get all this offense and firepower, you score
seventy points in a game, but still at the end
of the year you look up and being like, damn,
we still haven't won a postseason game, or damn we
still haven't gotten.
Speaker 3 (01:09:04):
A division because this division, NFC North is stacked. Yeah,
it's stacked, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:09:09):
So NFL under consideration that they would be changing a rule,
and I would just like to say, ah, helujah, sir, helujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.
Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
I mean, Lord, have mercy. Has there ever been a
thing needed more than this? Adam Schefter? Today?
Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
With just news from on high, the NFL expected to
include quarterback slides and expanded replay assist. You know why,
so we don't have the moment that we had last
week because last week we all saw it, we all
heard it.
Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
I know the rest all hate the Chiefs. I tend
to think that that's not even real.
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
But when you have these moments where you see Patrick
Mahomes sliding late and two Texan defenders hitting each other,
and we see all types of mayhem coming off from that,
that's where you get to be like, okay, guys, this
isn't even fair. No, this is what Tom Brady had
to say about this. He was on Colin cow Artz
or earlier this week, so Tom Brady had to say
(01:10:09):
about this before the news dropped. I don't think I've
ever agreed with a former player on something more than
this right here.
Speaker 11 (01:10:16):
When quarterbacks become running backs and they're out of the pocket,
they should lose their protection, and we are, in essence,
we're trying to say we're trying to protect the quarterbacks.
But coaches are calling more quarterback runs than ever in
the history of the game. So who's protecting the quarterback?
If you're running with the ball, you should protect yourself.
If you don't want to get hit, you can go down,
(01:10:38):
you can run out of bound, but you can't, in essence,
have the defensive player come in at half speed and
then you run over the defensive player because he's afraid
of getting a penalty. And I think it's just a
disservice to the game.
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
We watch guys Tom. Easy for Tom to say when
he ran like twice, okay, career, but here's the take.
But he's still but he's right, No, but this is right.
But this is why. This is why, in my opinion,
that Tom and Troy Aikman on the broadcast are like,
this is complete and total bs.
Speaker 12 (01:11:06):
This is why because when they were playing, toughness was
a skill. Then you had to be tough because in
the pocket you were going to get annihilated. How many
times you hear about a quarterback standing tall in the
pocket and surviving a hit and delivering a ball on time.
Speaker 2 (01:11:29):
Hell, it's what makes Joe Burrow's game what it is.
It's what makes Sho Brow's game what it is. That
toughness is a skill that they had to have, and
now it's being legislated out of the game. So you're
damn right.
Speaker 3 (01:11:44):
If I'm Tom Brady, if I'm Troy Aikman, I'd be
mad as hell. Let him get hit, because you know
what I had to do, hit the turf.
Speaker 4 (01:11:51):
Well, Troy Aikman was knocked out of the game because
of concussions, because he was allowed to get annihilated. But
Joe Montana almost lost his life Marshall, And I'm sure
I got this year wrong right, But if I don't,
I know Steve who will correct me when he does
his update nineteen ninety I want to say NFC Championship Game,
Giants on the Road and Candlestick Joe trying to make
(01:12:13):
a Joe cool moment driving down the field, maybe ninety
ninety one and Leonard Marshall nails him, throws his helmet
in the back of his shoulder blades. Joe Montana's face
was blue. People go YouTube bit when they sit him up,
his face is blue. We could go back to the
old sixties. Frank Gifford.
Speaker 3 (01:12:35):
Go back and look at when Frank Gifford was almost
annihilated by Chuck ben Nerrik I always mess his name
up from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:12:43):
Go back and look at that play guys used to
get annihilate. You think they ever took it easy on
Mike Vick. You think they ever took it easy.
Speaker 3 (01:12:49):
On Donovan McNab or Randall Cunningham. Part of the thing
in kiddying who part of it is, listen, your very
effective weapon when running? Why do you And there's a
part that we cut out of that. But part of
the way that the defense impacts impact impacts effective players
is by using force. Yes, you got to man, think
(01:13:12):
about it.
Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
Will Blackman told me this years ago, but I've always
remembered it because you've played in the AFC. Shouted around
the same time with Derrick Henry, he was getting hit
by Like. Look, tackling Derrick Henry in the first quarter
is fine.
Speaker 3 (01:13:27):
But in the fourth quarter, when it's thirteen degrees outside
and I haven't felt my left shoulder for an hour
and a half, I do not want to hit that
big sucker. Mar Charon L.
Speaker 4 (01:13:36):
Marshon Lynt said, I want to run through his face
over and over, and as he's saying it, he's leaning
closer and closer to the interviewer. He said, over and
over and over again. I learned grown as men my
size don't want to handle that. That's why I run
the way I run.
Speaker 2 (01:13:54):
If that is the attitude of offensive players, then defensive
players have to be allowed to exert as much force
as possible every single time to have an opportunity to
do it clean. What we see now because of these
because of these penalties, you see guys pulling up and
(01:14:14):
what we're gonna see now with this expertited replay rough
and the passer will still be We'll.
Speaker 3 (01:14:18):
Still have ones where he's like, hey, it didn't even
touch them. This is gonna be the outside of the
pocket to meet the stuff that's really the most egregious,
the most ridiculous. This is gonna tomorrow. Good job by
the NFL. Come up tomorrow. Tomorrow's game one of these games,
and it's probably gonna be the chief. It's probably gonna
be the chief game up tomorrow with Kansas City's on off.
Speaker 4 (01:14:37):
This is going to come up tomorrow, and I'll tell
you the only thing I don't like about the version
of my homes this year, and this question was kind
of a hot topic this week. So I heard Daniel
alaskt why I love Lewis Riddick. I respect those guys.
I love their pison. A way to talk about football.
Pat Mahome sometimes kind of plays around with this and
gets down lay and Josh Allen does the same thing.
FO for Jost to be as big as he is,
(01:14:58):
You're running over linebackers this one particular play, you get
la and you're going that's the toughness that Martin. I
think it's talking about that out of the game is
I didn't grow up watching quarterbacks flop. John Elway, Ran,
Randall Cunningham, Ran, Steve Young, ran. Now quarterbacks flop and
they use the rule to kind of circumvict the game.
(01:15:20):
It that I don't that I don't like because that's
not fair to the defender. Is once I commit, now
you go down. I'm already committed. I'm this is going
to change a game tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:15:31):
It's football with two o's, not football with a You
keep that flopping stuff across the Atlanta and also play
it outdoors because this is what they obvious the same
of who you got Conference Championship predition. Martin whits vicha
Husky Fox Sports Football Saturday, Top of the Hour.
Speaker 2 (01:15:46):
We make picks for the NFCNAFC Championship game here on
Fox Sports Radio. Dive into those games as well, head
coaching hires as well. Almost everybody's got a new man
in charge. Will rate them at the top of the hour.
But right now, it's go and play a game of
who you got?
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
All right?
Speaker 1 (01:16:02):
Who you got?
Speaker 6 (01:16:03):
So there are four teams left standing in the NFL playoffs.
So the way this is gonna work is that I'm
thinking of a player or executive or coach, someone who
has something to do with one of the four teams
remaining in the NFL playoffs. I'm gonna give you, guys hints,
and hopefully with each hint it helps narrow it down
who it is a little bit more. And you're obviously
you guys are gonna try to get it in as
few hints as possible. Let's jump in first clue, this
(01:16:25):
guy was a first round draft pick.
Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
Of one of these teams. Clyde Edwards incorrect, but he
was a first round draft pick of the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (01:16:34):
With the four teams that's left Donovan McNabb. No, all right,
why was my no so dry?
Speaker 3 (01:16:43):
I don't like that. Barry was asking me something at
the same time. Sorry about that.
Speaker 6 (01:16:48):
He's played for three different NFL franchises in his career,
three different Now I will tell you if he's still
active per usual.
Speaker 2 (01:16:55):
I won't say if he's still active, three separate teams.
First round pick Donovan micknumbs.
Speaker 3 (01:17:04):
No, okay, I was about to say Mark Cooper. He's
played for four teams. Mark Cooper's played for four teams,
three different teams. First round pick, and the key for
this one was some type of playoff relevance right some level? Oh,
I got it. Desmond Howard, No, not a bad guess.
Next clue here, control, next clue.
Speaker 6 (01:17:23):
For accolades in his career, he won Rookie of the Year,
not going to say offensive defense, and he made one
Pro Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:17:31):
One Pro Bowl but was also Rookie of the Year,
played for three different teams, and was a first round pick.
Speaker 5 (01:17:38):
This is a.
Speaker 3 (01:17:40):
Griffin. No, I like you both want to I like
that one. Next one here.
Speaker 6 (01:17:46):
He was a Heisman Trophy finalist in college but did
not win, so RG three still would work there.
Speaker 2 (01:17:51):
But not in Trophy. Finally was Larry Johnson junior. No
Heisman Trophy finalist Rookie of the Year. It's not a
Bills player. One Pro Bowl makes me think that as
an offensive like like a quarterback or running back.
Speaker 3 (01:18:12):
But if you played for three teams Rookie of the Year,
three teams Rookie of the Year, Heisman finalists, and one
Pro Bowl, the Pro Bowl part doesn't matter. See.
Speaker 2 (01:18:22):
That's the thing that makes me think it's a quarterback
or running back because you will to be the Rookie
of the Year, you gotta have stats. But then to
not make the Pro Bowl after that, it's gonna be
a lot of good players in front of them.
Speaker 6 (01:18:33):
I think the next clusion saw McCoy No, nope, not shady.
Next clue should help, I think, helping arrow down a little.
He's played in one Super Bowl where he recorded a sack.
Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
Oh wow, so I was all the way off Heisman
Trophy Candy, that's okay, So we got got a start,
Dominic and Sue, good guess.
Speaker 5 (01:18:52):
But no.
Speaker 3 (01:18:54):
Heisman Trophy finalist was Rookie of the Year. Honey, Badgers
are on mat No no oh, he was a Trig
Trophy finalist.
Speaker 6 (01:19:03):
He played college football at Ohio State, where he still
holds their single season sack record.
Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
Oh is it?
Speaker 5 (01:19:11):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:19:11):
Oh? What's his name?
Speaker 7 (01:19:13):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:19:14):
Uh? He played for the Saints, number two overall pick
to Washington.
Speaker 5 (01:19:18):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:19:18):
I can't remember his freaking name. Defensive at Chate Young.
Chase Young's correct, Chase Young. That's what it was.
Speaker 6 (01:19:25):
In college, he earned the nickname the Predator in part
because of his dreadlocks and play on the field. He
was the second overall pick in the twenty twenty NFL Draft,
behind only Joe Burrow.
Speaker 4 (01:19:34):
I'll be honest with you. The minute you told me
where he played, I stopped playing. I'm dead ass serious,
I am dead asser. The minute you said where he
stopped playing, I let when's Martin had it? I was like,
all right, just wait till you find out who won
the National Championship VA.
Speaker 3 (01:19:49):
He got real shocked.
Speaker 2 (01:19:50):
Coming up, NAT who picks up of the games and
AFC NFC Championship weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:19:56):
We'll preview with Martin. Weis Vita Husky.
Speaker 1 (01:20:00):

loser goes home between the Kansas Shitty Chiefs and the
(01:20:27):
Buffalo Bills and the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders Commanders,
the odds man out here. Nobody now, I mean nobody
except for the people in Washington. Had the Commanders getting
this far. I don't care how high you were on
Jayden Daniels, how.
Speaker 3 (01:20:43):
Many playoff games you thought they were going to.
Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
But I mean to be fair, if they advance another game,
it will be a historic level of advanced before a
rookie quarterback or a team led by a rookie quarterback
and a first year head coach or second time but
first year in this system and in this program, and
second year for ownership group. But with that being said,
(01:21:07):
after a robust and dynamic pick segment to start the season,
let's go ahead and get started with the playoff version
of the picks.
Speaker 3 (01:21:16):
Okay, so we're gonna have to start by updating from
last week. Yes, let's go.
Speaker 6 (01:21:19):
So let's see how we did for the divisional round. Martin,
you actually went four and oh my man, well done.
VJ two and two is still good. And it's actually
very close overall now because VJ you won the wild
card round. So overall Martin seven and two VJ six
and three.
Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
So we are no, I mean thirteen and five. You
know what they call that if you're betting a lot
of money, retirement, go ahead, all.
Speaker 6 (01:21:44):
Right, Well, just two games to get to this week.
Sot a lot less than usual, but we'll start real fast.
Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
Are we doing Super Bowl Tour just to play? Are
just these games? There's the super Bowl? Good account? Super
bowls got account? All right? All right, I'm just asking
because I got a game to make up that strategy,
of course.
Speaker 6 (01:21:59):
All right, we'll start with the Commanders versus Eagles game,
which is the first game tomorrow noon Eastern or noon
Pacific time three pm Eastern. Philly's favored by six points. Guys,
what do we think VJ or first.
Speaker 3 (01:22:14):
Six points?
Speaker 4 (01:22:16):
I tell you, man, Division division games in the playoffs,
they're tough, they're tough to grass right here.
Speaker 3 (01:22:23):
Six points, that's that's a lot but I'm gonna go
with Philly here to cover. I'm gonna go with Philly
here to cover. And I think sa Kwan goes bonkers.
I think sa Quan goes ballistic tomorrow, I really do.
And they have the defense. Also, you got remember this's
really not for Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:22:42):
Defense is the number one rate defensive football, the number
one passing defensive football, the number third rushing defensive football.
This defense doesn't give up a lot. They had spots
where teams can move the ball on them. Philly doesn't
care if they win twenty to twelve, right, They just
wanted to get to go rematch hopefully Kansas City possibly
and get to the Super Bowl and and and win
it again as they did with Ut Peter Center.
Speaker 3 (01:23:02):
Fol So give me Philly here. They run the football.
Speaker 4 (01:23:05):
This defense shows up, and I think I think Jayden
Daniels's run has been fun, it's been historical, it's it's
been a great year. But it is Tomorrow he's gonna
see a defense that he didn't see last Saturday night.
That's not the defense He's gonna see. The defense gonna
see tomorrow, much much much better, especially up the middle.
(01:23:26):
Look for Carter to make some big plays pushing the pocket,
and once they pushed the pocket, these other flying around
running the linebackers that the Eagles have to come make
some plays up. I think probably get dated Jaden to
turn the ball over and that and that gets them
to spread.
Speaker 3 (01:23:40):
But give me the Eagles to cover the six. I'm
within it worth mentioning quickly Martin.
Speaker 6 (01:23:44):
You guys, there was a play in college where Jalen
Carter sacked Jayden Daniels and just just picked him up,
held him in his arms.
Speaker 3 (01:23:50):
After the play, I actually think I remember this. That
is so bad mannered, and it's like, will will Jayden
get his get back here?
Speaker 1 (01:23:56):
Will? Will?
Speaker 3 (01:23:57):
We'll at Georgia Lsu game, I do remember that that
George Lsu? I do remember that?
Speaker 5 (01:24:02):
So?
Speaker 3 (01:24:02):
Or will Carter do it again? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:24:04):
So, first of all, Jalen Carter had the type of
fourth quarter that makes you a multi millionaire last week. Like,
let's just take a second, because I fully believe if
he had twisted his ankle at halftime or something like that,
we'd be talking about the Rams and the Commanders.
Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
Going at it right now.
Speaker 2 (01:24:25):
Because he wrecked shop in that fourth quarter and shut
down the Rams offense basically single handedly. Now Sam Cosby
tours acl and the Washington's game against Detroit. That incredibly
concerning because that's the guy that's supposed to stay in
front of the manchild that we know as Jalen Carter.
Speaker 3 (01:24:43):
However, I'm still going with the time. I'm going to
the team with destiny.
Speaker 2 (01:24:48):
Give me the Washington Commanders not only to cover this game,
they're gonna win this game would be the Commanders to go.
Speaker 3 (01:24:53):
To the super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
Jane Dan will be the first rookie quarterback to advance
to the Super Bowl. I said it by this time
next week last week that people were going to flirt
with the idea that this is the best rookie season
of all time. This time next week it will be stamped, signed, sealed, delivered.
This will be the best rookie season of all time.
(01:25:16):
Philadelphia is not going to be able to score with
Washington real quick. That game that they played in weeks
I forget thirteen fourteen whatever it was, the one that
Jalen got knocked out of with concussion. All Right, the
Commanders turned the ball over five times five.
Speaker 3 (01:25:35):
They're gonna turn the ball over tomorrow too. You know
what has happened to take the ball from him. You
know what hasn't happened the last five games? A Jayde
Daniel turnover. He's not turning the ball over tomorrow. The
Commander's not going to mean Eagles can't throw the ball
to keep up with Washington? Can I give one? Can
I have a bonus prop bet on to this game?
Should give a bold prediction. He said that he's not
going to turn the ball over. I say, Jayeon Daniels
has to turn over tomorrow. Okay, he turns the ball,
(01:25:57):
he turns the ball. We'll do this Jade and Daniels.
Speaker 2 (01:26:01):
Yes, no interception, he's on the Yes, turnover, I'm sorry,
turnover he's on, Yes, I'm on.
Speaker 3 (01:26:06):
No, how about this, Jalen hoats whatever his passing yard is,
I'm taking under. Will you take over whatever it is?
I don't know. I'm telling you right now, I would
have to line. I had no idea what it is.
And you're gonna say I'm taking on? I have no
idea what taking him? Line? Okay you know what?
Speaker 4 (01:26:23):
No, no, no, no, look the chiefs no fast and
Gee's fast and GE's I'll rob with my co host.
Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
Fine, I don't know what it is. Either, I'll take
the over, let us know what it is.
Speaker 4 (01:26:31):
I'll take the over on Hurts his passing yards, and
I'll take what the turnover for day?
Speaker 3 (01:26:36):
What price? Pick says? Not to give a go for it?
All right? Anyway, let's move on to the next game.
The main event.
Speaker 6 (01:26:41):
No disrespect to the Commanders and Eagles, but this is
this is the main event. This is the clash of Titans,
Bill's Chiefs. Chiefs are favored by two and a half points. Though,
what do we think they're in?
Speaker 3 (01:26:51):
Arrowhead? Remember that.
Speaker 4 (01:26:54):
I've been on the hate bandwagon for the last three
years to the Chiefs. I got all of it this
past summer. I kept my word and told you all
that I will not be smirched this team. I would
not talk trash about this team. I would not say
nothing negative about Pat Mahomes. And I check my word
all nineteen weeks and it continues right now. It continues
(01:27:17):
right now. This is a team of destiny. They will
get to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (01:27:21):
But my pick to win it all back in August,
written down right there in the studio is the Philadelphia
Eagles to win it all. So I'm still alive.
Speaker 4 (01:27:29):
There my AFC team's out, but I think they make
enough plays on defense. This defense is just what it
is with this team. It's monsters, it's monsterrous. This defense
is to rate Chris Jones.
Speaker 3 (01:27:40):
This team knows.
Speaker 4 (01:27:42):
This is the game right here. This is what we've
been kind of cruising. And I hate to use that
word loosely, but honestly, this is the game that we're
gonna show now. While we've been kind of inl peeling
back a little bit, we've been saving it for this
thing right here tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:27:55):
The nickname lives Josh Apple Turnover. Allen gets the game
away when they need him not to.
Speaker 4 (01:28:05):
Most he can beat him in October and November and September.
He has never been Pat Mahomes in January. This continues,
close game. I like the two give me the Chiefs here.
They cover that too. They gonna they're gonna win the
game and they're going to their super Bowl. They got
destiny on their side.
Speaker 3 (01:28:21):
They got the whole field a vanas guys, nobody goes
in there beats the burrow. And it took some missfield
goals and some mishaps to happen that day. It's two
and a half now, this line has moved all the
way to two and a half, correct, because it was
one earlier in the week, ticked up to one and
a half. Now it's two and a half. Kansas City
wins this game. However, they win it thirty one to
(01:28:44):
twenty nine on a Harrison Butker field goal with less
than ten seconds remaining as it goes through the uprights,
Buffalo covers. Kansas City wins. Buffalo goes home completely and
totally heartbroken because Josh Allen is going to play his
ass off tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
He's going to look incredible. He may be the better
quarterback when you look at the stat line in the game.
But Patrick Mahomes is going to do some black magic.
Speaker 13 (01:29:13):
U to where he's freaking floating parallel to the parallel
to the field, and he throws the ball and to
feel like his elbow is gonna be the first thing
to come down, and Travis Kelsey will be standing so
open and so open, Taylor Swift will be able to
come down from upstairs and catch the ball for him
(01:29:33):
in the back of the end zone, and we'll do
the same thing we do every single year.
Speaker 3 (01:29:37):
How do they keep getting away with this?
Speaker 4 (01:29:39):
I want to throw another prop side bet on this
for the Chiefs defense. All right, the Chiefs defense scores tomorrow,
I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:29:47):
We're on the same side with that. They scored.
Speaker 4 (01:29:49):
It's a scoop and score or picksick, Josh is gonna
turn the ball over. This defense is two opportunists stick.
They force you to do these things. Chris, Chris, Joe.
It's gonna wreck this front line and wreck this game.
The Bills are not gonna be able to run the
football tomorrow because you can't run up the middle, you
can't run.
Speaker 3 (01:30:08):
To the left and right. I'm with Mark.
Speaker 4 (01:30:10):
I think Josh Allen has a really good game, has
a great game, but that doesn't mean that he's not
gonna turn the football over because it just goes the
Chiefs way this way.
Speaker 3 (01:30:21):
Also too, that replay we talked about earlier too.
Speaker 4 (01:30:24):
I think there's a lot in this game Tomorrow you
talk about the main attraction, you're right, because this game
isn't clean Monday, the refs are gonna be talked. Something
is going to happen in this football game that's gonna
make people go, man, why what we're talking about?
Speaker 3 (01:30:39):
The red? What a ruin game?
Speaker 4 (01:30:40):
It just happens with Chiefs games at this point of
the year. All the time, namy one that has it
the last three years, they all come down to some
type of penalty, some type of drive, some type of
mistake that's gonna happen tomorrow. I'm with Martin though I
do think it's a last second field goal by the Chiefs,
but I think the game is tied at that point,
and that's how it covers the two and a half.
That's why I win the two and a half. So
(01:31:01):
people like, Okay, well they can't, you know they we
definitely want to push it a little bit to cover it.
It's a tide game. Mahomes makes the plays. Travis Kelcey
makes the catch tomorrow. Remember I told you guys you
could tell he was kind of laying in the weeds,
and then at about week fourteen starts to kind of
crank it up, start thinking off, I, hey, and what
he's gonna look like? Since what does it look like?
(01:31:22):
Since Ian this is what they do. Man, he makes
the catch tomorrow. That sets up and when he gets
tackled and stands up and does this, everybody's just gonna
sit back on their couches and lean back and go
up and going to the because that puts them in
field goal range, and that's how they're gonna win the game.
Speaker 3 (01:31:36):
Tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (01:31:36):
They win by three tomorrow. I don't like as many
points as Martin. I like twenty four to twenty one,
somewhere in that rate, twenty six, twenty three, somewhere in
that race.
Speaker 3 (01:31:45):
I don't think eighteen. Either team hits thirty. Do you
have Jalen Hurts over and under? I do what is he?
Guys carried to guests first or I'm gonna guess one
hundred and sixty five. I will say, yeah, yeah, I
think it's way harder. I will say two o five
and a half. It's lower than that. This is perfect.
This is perfect.
Speaker 6 (01:32:02):
So VJ, you'll take the over. Martin, you're taking the
under because the line is set at one hundred and ninety.
Oh stop it point five, hey, davaute, no connection from
both of you.
Speaker 3 (01:32:15):
This is best case. No shit, Hey sa Kwa touch
one out on a swing pattern. They taking eighty five,
me saying that's the best way to do it. Doesn't
matter yards of yards. You know what they're gonna have
to do that Kansas City stuff they were doing a
few years ago. A handoff, or the mahomes just.
Speaker 2 (01:32:31):
Thrown on the hair and the guy runs and catches
on the jet sweeps on a complete pass if they
if it's a fumble, that's how that works.
Speaker 3 (01:32:39):
Or you know, one hundred and thirty six yards of
screen pass yards. Oh and trust me, watch tomorrow. They
come out passing. They're not gonna come out throwing the football.
Speaker 4 (01:32:47):
Come out past they watch tomorrow, they're gonna come out
throwing the ball. The first few play, they're gonna they're
gonna get the ball out there. Get it to your
stud dude, they got studs at receivers. Get it to them,
because you know what you got into six, You know
what you got in two six. I start, if I'm
coordinating this game, three of my first seven plays are
passing plays, and they're quick hits there shotgun, r po, boom,
(01:33:10):
slimt all right, dump to get the passing game going
slow that rush down right. Stay away from Mikey, he likes,
stay away from that guy. That guy right there, I mean,
he's that's flag on to play. You want to throw
that guy that that's flag on the play. But I
do think that they will throw the Yeah, give me
the over on it two and I'll say.
Speaker 3 (01:33:29):
One ninety point five. What Jalen Hurts has to hit
this number says before Thanksgiving? I'm sorry he's once since
before Thanksgiving? Better no better time than tomorrow to go
play for the Lombardy, No better a Hurts? Hey, go ahead.
Speaker 6 (01:33:48):
We got four points up for grabs because you guys
aren't in agreement on any of these. So this is
where we're gonna have a shake up.
Speaker 3 (01:33:55):
Take up. This is this is major watch. This is
two for two, I know, and nothing changing. I just
know we purposely have to pick the opposite of the
Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
I've made a lot of money. We can do more
props on some streaks that have not ended since November.
This is another one I think we'll be hitting just
the same way.
Speaker 3 (01:34:13):
Coming up next, just about every head coach in the
NFL vacancy has been filled, but one we'll talk about.
And you know what, honestly they was laughing at the Cowboys.
There was one scenario much more embarrassing. We'll dive into
that coming up next.
Speaker 2 (01:34:26):
Martin Wise Vida Husky, Fox Sports Football Saturday. Martin Wise
Vja Husky coming to you Live from the tire IRAQ
dot com studios got about a half hour left, seven
minutes before Steve di Seger's update, half hour before Aaron
Torres and Jason Martin take the airwaves Vday. Obviously, we
just talked about the big games coming up this weekend,
(01:34:47):
coming up tomorrow, AFC and NFC Championship games. They're getting
started a little bit early in Philadelphia. Take a listen
to this out of the Philadelphia.
Speaker 3 (01:34:55):
Mayor, Hey owe a three, let's go bird? Whoops? Did
you catch it? Do it again? I don't think you
called it? Do it again?
Speaker 6 (01:35:16):
Let me hear you all say, hey owre.
Speaker 3 (01:35:23):
Yeah bird an extra constant scripts spelling bee. You will
not be advancing to the next round. Mayor Cherrelle Parker
from Philadelphia. Yeah, she said, and now do it again.
Speaker 5 (01:35:40):
Hear you all say he ow.
Speaker 3 (01:35:45):
She sounds like, let's go bird.
Speaker 4 (01:35:49):
That sounds like that's how let him be when I'm
making my toast at Mark, Let's go birds go.
Speaker 3 (01:35:54):
There you have it. E L G. E S S
a prime playoff form for philadel Hey, look, man, it's
gonna be lit. It's gonna be lit there to them,
are you right? They? If this is your squad at hometown.
When you be lit to night, I'm already parttying. Think
about it.
Speaker 4 (01:36:11):
Back East, it's going on ten thirty. They out partying.
They ready for tomorrow. They already camping out. You don't
think they have any nerves, no nerves.
Speaker 3 (01:36:18):
But the Eagles right now, Nah about the about the Commanders, Yeah,
that's what I'm saying, a nerve surrounding the Eagles, about
the community. And listen, I think this is a I
think this is a convincing win tomorrow, guys, I do
for the Eagles. I think this is a convincing win.
I think we'll get a closer game for the AFC
Championship between the Chiefs and the Bills. But it's you
gotta go through your pain. You gotta go to your growl.
(01:36:39):
You're playing out the way I think.
Speaker 2 (01:36:41):
I don't think it will, but it's either a Commander's
close win or an Eagles blowout.
Speaker 4 (01:36:45):
Are our Eagles and they just laying on its guys. Look,
it's your first time cour rookie. Like, it's been a
good year.
Speaker 3 (01:36:51):
I'm not knocking it's.
Speaker 4 (01:36:52):
Been It's been a nice run. Bro, it's been a
good year. You've done well. But you gotta go through
your learning. You gotta go through your growing pains. And
pro sports, you don't know. Young team wins nothing. Show
me the young team in pro sports that wins. No
young team in pro sports win nothing. You could do
it in college with some freshmen in software. You can't
do it with rookies in first and second year guys
in the NFL. It doesn't work that way. You gotta
(01:37:12):
go through your growing pains. This is a growing pain.
This team's already been there. Jalen Hurts knows what it's
like to be up in the super Bowl. He knows
what that feels like to be up against the cheese,
against Andy Reid, against Pat Mahomes. He knows what they
want to get back to the Sakuon Barkley think about this.
The first year he gets traded the first year he
comes there also too, that would be the second time
if Eagles history in the last twenty years, that big
(01:37:32):
free agent names come and they go to the super
Bowl that first year. First time, you guys know the
two names that were signing just a guess. I know
you know one of them, but you both f should
know one of them the year they signed too, And
who is the other guy Jawan curse. Remember they signed
them as a free agent from Tennessee. Those two they
were like the two additions super Bowl. That's the year
they went and lost.
Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
To the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (01:37:52):
The Jacksonville Jaguars are hoping that they've just hired a
Super Bowl coach and Liam Owen, who spent one season
as the offensive coordinator at Tampa. In that season, Baker
mayfiled a career best forty one touchdown passes. Previously had
only thrown a max of twenty eight. Chris Godwin missed
some time, Mike Evans missed some time. Bucks scored twenty
(01:38:16):
eight and a half points of games, third most in
team history, which is just behind the Tom Brady led Bucks.
But ian I say, Ian, I'm sorry, Liam, the names
look similar to my He you got a job here.
Liam Cohen goes interviews with Jacksonville, says, I'm not taking
(01:38:37):
the job unless Trent.
Speaker 3 (01:38:38):
Like with Trent Balky here, I want my own job.
Speaker 2 (01:38:41):
And it seems as if he was not the only
one to say this to Jacksonville, because Shaan Khan ends
up firing Trent Balki and then about twelve.
Speaker 3 (01:38:49):
Minutes later, it seemed in a little bit of exaggeration.
Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
But after that, Liam Cohen is now the head coach
of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now there's a whole types of
mess about the the Rooney Rooney rule was executed. That
is a conversation that I mean, it's it's disgusting. But
to be honest, there's a lot of things that's weird
about this situation that one, sadly enough, pretty normal in
(01:39:14):
the NFL. This is how bad organizations do things. But
just your take VJ on the way the Jacksonville Jaguars
just navigated the last forty eight hours.
Speaker 3 (01:39:24):
Well really quick as well.
Speaker 6 (01:39:25):
That you got to remember that the Bucks were about
to pay Liam Cohen to renew his contract as the
offensive coordinator and they were going to give him, quote
Ben Johnson money, is what they're saying.
Speaker 4 (01:39:35):
Well, not only that it kind of didn't take didn't
it kind of take Tampa by surprise also too, like
Tampa thought they had their guys still there.
Speaker 6 (01:39:41):
Reports are that he was ghosting them throughout the day
while he was hammering out this contract with the Jaguars.
Speaker 3 (01:39:46):
And see that's what they're saying. See, I don't like that.
I don't like that to me.
Speaker 4 (01:39:50):
Ghost In to me, I don't care who you are,
how old you are, what race you are, what religion.
I don't care. Ghost In anybody is immature. It just
just be rual enough to tell somebody you don't want
to deal with, or I'm gonna go do this, or
I'm gonna go do that.
Speaker 3 (01:40:02):
I didn't like that part of it. But to answer
Martin's question, I wanted to. I wanted the bum ass
Jets to be the worst off season story for their
coaching higher but I really do like Aaron Glenn. This
one took over for me.
Speaker 5 (01:40:14):
What what is?
Speaker 3 (01:40:15):
What is going on? This is gonna turn out really bad.
Speaker 4 (01:40:18):
Listen, you got people out here throwing, you know, people
hypothetical trades, you know, people starting to mention Trevor Lawrence
and and and getting him out of there, and maybe
just news.
Speaker 3 (01:40:27):
Fresh star Trevor Banks Stadium.
Speaker 4 (01:40:29):
Yeah I know, right, yeah, but you know, fresh start
somewhere kind of new new voice, new thing, like this
thing's going south real fast. And also to what I
also think it is very interesting is I don't hear
a lot of come on, you gotta help Trevor out,
Come on, you gotta you can't waste.
Speaker 3 (01:40:45):
This guy's probably like we hear for Herbert, like we
hear for Burrow.
Speaker 4 (01:40:49):
We really do hear that, right, I've heard it for
Josh Apple turnover Allen up in Orchard Park. But it's
almost like it's secret Swim. It's every man for himself.
It feels like when with Jacksonville Jaguars, I don't I
don't feel any unity, I don't feel any camaraderie. It's
really weird what's going on. And this higher is even more.
(01:41:09):
This guy's gonna be fired in two years.
Speaker 3 (01:41:11):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (01:41:11):
This this is like you said, franchises that just don't
run things well. It's almost like when Jacksonville's good, it's
by accident. And and my only one that feels like that,
Like when they're good, it's kind of like, yeah, y'all
kind of remember the year they go and beat Pittsburgh
in the playoffs, Jalen Ramsey, Leonard Fournette, who is that
Blake bortalgh And was it like double overtime or overtime
(01:41:33):
like forty one?
Speaker 3 (01:41:33):
Yeah, overtime. Myles Jack was robbed clean foot recovery for
a touchdown. Yep, absolutely was on that team. Yeah, yeah,
good who you got yeah, Blake bortleed like like, but
when they're good, it's like by accident. So do you
really expect anything else? Like, I'm not even gonna act
like I know a lot about this guy that they hired,
(01:41:54):
because I don't, cause you know, he here's a bit
prominent in what I do know about him.
Speaker 2 (01:41:58):
I know he's fired as the offensive coordinator for the Rams,
or fired as an offensive coach rather for the Rams
the year before last, went to Kentucky last year, replaced
Dave Canalis this offseason as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach. Also,
I'm sorry Tampa Buccaneers offensive coordinator. Also know that in
December twenty seventeen, he accepted the OC position at holy Cross,
(01:42:22):
then took the job as assistant wide receivers coach with
the Rams, and then January twenty third, twenty twenty four.
So a year ago, two days ago, Kentucky three hundred
and sixty seven days ago.
Speaker 3 (01:42:34):
It's a better way to say that.
Speaker 2 (01:42:35):
Kentucky quarterback commit Stone Saunders told Kentucky Sports Radio that
Cohen was saying that he was staying at the University
of Kentucky adds its offensive coordinator. Then was hired by
the Buccaneers. On the third, Well, he goes to people,
so he's in maturity away. Also to Ian, nothing says
robust college football program like holy Cross.
Speaker 3 (01:42:55):
Well it was to defense. It was twenty seventeen, so
it was quite some time ago. Coming up next, we
have J. D.
Speaker 2 (01:43:02):
Pakel to put a wrap up on college football, talk
about some of these transfer portal situations into a little
prognostic Cayton see who he likes in the upcoming NFL draft.
Speaker 3 (01:43:12):
But first, Steve Disager, Steven, all you need to.
Speaker 9 (01:43:16):
Know about the Rooney rule with the NFL is something
we brought up on the show last night when longtime
NFL reporter Edwarder reporter. This is after Brian Schottenheimer is
announced as the new Cowboys head coach. His breaking news
ed Warders was the Cowboys have hired Matt Eberflus as
their new defensive coordinator on the Schottenheimer's staff, And then
(01:43:36):
shortly after that he corrected the tweet saying Iberflus has
emerged as a candidate to be the next defensive coordinator
and has discussed the position, but the team will first
conduct interviews as required by league rules before any final
decision exactly.
Speaker 2 (01:43:51):
It's it's I don't have the answer. I don't have
the solution, but I just know it's super broken.
Speaker 3 (01:43:57):
Is no looking. It's a good thing, it's there, but
it's real quick.
Speaker 9 (01:44:01):
It's that, you know what I saw last night?
Speaker 3 (01:44:03):
The Rooney rule obscures the fact that NFL coaching and
hiring in general is broken. Look at the way that
Ben Johnson and Leon Cohen just got these jobs. Could
you have met that that's not the best foundation going
forward for success. That was a very well thought out plan.
When you got six teams who are all begging to
hire Ben Johnson. I'm sorry, se go ahead. I think
you should.
Speaker 4 (01:44:23):
I think the NFL needs to implement a rule, dude.
What they gotta do to CBA whatever. You can't interview
or even bring a coach's name up while their team
is still in the playoffs. You're not allowed to even
mention it. So that should go with Tampray.
Speaker 9 (01:44:34):
So if Kingsbury's gonna get the Saints job, obviously Washington
would have to be out of things, and that might
happen tomorrow. We'll see Washington is at Philadelphia on Fox
TV three pm Eastern Time. The NFC Championship game. Washington
defensive tackle Deron Pain is out Sunday knee and finger injuries.
Bills are at Kansas City Sunday in the second game
(01:44:55):
the AFC Championship and yes, the Saints head coach opening
is the last one currently off season cycle in the NFL.
Bill's offensive coordinator Joe Brady will stay in Buffalo after
interviewing in New Orleans. The Saints will have a second
interview with Kellen Moore. The Saints planned to speak with
former Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy that just talked to
Mike Kafka. Raven's defensive back Marlon Humphrey was fined about
(01:45:18):
forty five thousand dollars for using his helmet in a
hit on Bill's quarterback Josh Allen last week. The Jets
have a new general manager, Darren Moogie from Denver, and
the Lions promoted Kelvin Sheppard to defensive coordinator. To college basketball,
the feature matchup tonight is number one Auburn hosting number
six Tennessee. With seven and a half minutes to go,
(01:45:39):
It's thirty eight thirty eight thirty percent shooting for the
balls under thirty percent shooting for Auburn. In fact, the
Auburn Tigers at home right number one in the country
from three point range, are one of sixteen. Number seven.
Houston won in double overtime at Kansas. Vanderbilt upset number
nine Kentucky. Among the fourteen NBA game games, the Lakers
(01:46:00):
are still leading at Golden State one hundred to eighty
seven under eight minutes to go. Suns lead Washington in
the third eighty two to seventy two. The Washington Wizards
have lost twelve in a row. If they lose this one,
the record for the season will be six and thirty
eight Philadelphia and Toronto with road wins. Houston got a
road win at Cleveland one thirty one to one thirty five,
(01:46:23):
one thirty one, Aim and Thompson at Triple Double New
York and Orlando with home victories for the Orlando Magic.
Their win over Detroit won twenty one, one thirteen and
at a five game losing streak for the Magic, thirty
two points each for Paulo ben Caro and Franz Wagner.
Miami and Charlotte each one. Boston won at Dallas one
twenty two to one oh seven victories for Minnesota and Indiana,
(01:46:45):
which played the Spurs in Paris again today, Pacers won
thirty six to ninety eight the final tyrese Haliburton twenty
eight points in twenty eight minutes at Among the thirteen
NHL games, Islanders in overtime have beaten Carolina, Columbus overtime
beat La and in overtime New Jersey a winner at Montreal.
Speaker 2 (01:47:04):
Back to you, thanks Steve Martin and BJ coming to
you live from the tire rack dot Com studios. Without
further ado, Let's go ahead and get our next guests
in here. He's the Bishop, Magic wand Don at college
football on three College Football Insider, Fox Sports Radio College
Football Insider. You can catch a show on YouTube. It's
called The Hard Count. But don't jump off side because
j D Pakel is joining us right now.
Speaker 3 (01:47:26):
JD, how are you, my.
Speaker 8 (01:47:27):
Friend, brother? I'm doing phenomenal.
Speaker 5 (01:47:30):
I'm very grateful to be able to come on this
segment this week. I was worried my number would get
lost from last week to this week depending on how
Will Howard played most of them.
Speaker 8 (01:47:40):
I have to go into it now.
Speaker 3 (01:47:41):
I don't know who he is. And now hang up
on you, right now if you mentioned his name again, no,
because well I just know this. Jay's hands are too
far away from the phone to actually hang up. Will
Howard VJ I mean sorry, JD. Right, too many letters,
fifty eight percent of his past as he completed at
four seasons. It can the state, Now what is this?
Speaker 2 (01:48:02):
Fourteen short games later, he's setting championship game records for
completion percentage. Just talk about because at the start of
the season, Will Howard was the seventh best quarterback ranked
by some of them. I'm not sure if that's where
you guys had him ranked two four, seven had him
ranked there.
Speaker 3 (01:48:17):
But the talk was cam Ward. That was the talk.
It was not I know he's on three. I'm said,
I didn't know. That's what I said. I don't know
if you guys had him ranked there. I was talking
about the competitor.
Speaker 8 (01:48:27):
My bad.
Speaker 2 (01:48:28):
Now he's gonna tell me how ESPN liked Will Howard.
But the influence that that Will Howard had on this
Ohio State team, especially in their biggest moments.
Speaker 5 (01:48:38):
Yeah, so I think it's well, I want to give
Will Howard all his flowers and then some I think
we would be remiss if we didn't acknowledge that he's
got an avenger outside and Jeremiah Schmid, you had a
mad scientist filed up the offense, and Chip Kelly so
like as well as Will Howard executed in this offense,
he had massively more help than he ever had while
(01:48:59):
he was at Kansas State. So un less, it's an
issue for the you know, the I guess the Kansas
State sample size we had.
Speaker 8 (01:49:08):
I mean, I probably could have put a halfway.
Speaker 5 (01:49:10):
Decent numbers in that Ohio State offense just to if
ill Beta stayed there. But in the biggest moment when
they gave him in coverage and it was Jeremiah Smith
one on one with better dam's best healthy corner like,
he made the play.
Speaker 8 (01:49:21):
So also, I'll say this number one in QB gr
in America.
Speaker 5 (01:49:25):
That to me, I think tells the story as to
his growth and maturation at Ohio State. And I'm curious
to see what he ends up being an NFL draft prospects.
I have to believe that not a not a bad
audition for the next level.
Speaker 3 (01:49:38):
So with all that being said, and you mentioned in
all his weapons that you admit he sucks, then right
now I'm just messing different all right, so all right,
congrats man, you kind of you.
Speaker 4 (01:49:49):
I guess we can draw even on this. He didn't
throw the game away. I didn't watch the game. I
still haven't watched the game. I'm not gonna watch the game.
It was one of the worst two matchups could have
ever been in life. Had the game room for We're
gonna dry play a game here, but it got ruined
by my building manager. So let's stick with the draft
prospects in the quarterbacks because something very interesting has come out.
I know your ears to a mel Kiper who I
think we all respected. Love guy's been doing it forever,
(01:50:11):
still has.
Speaker 3 (01:50:11):
Cam Ward as QB one. Do you agree? Do you
not agree? Are you still up in the air?
Speaker 8 (01:50:18):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:50:19):
To me, it's still shut door Sanders? But why why
are we here?
Speaker 7 (01:50:22):
It is?
Speaker 3 (01:50:22):
Why is? Why is cam Ward getting this type of love?
Speaker 8 (01:50:26):
So I play Devil's advocate in the situation against the
sure Sanders, and I'm with you.
Speaker 5 (01:50:31):
I think given the lack of help that a shure
Sanders had up front, at least at Colorado, like the
way that he was able to execute off batleance thrown
into his left throor, and like all those things I
thought was massively impressive and would encourage me if I
was making the picks.
Speaker 8 (01:50:46):
The one caveat that makes me a touch nervous to.
Speaker 5 (01:50:50):
Draft the shod or Sanders over at cam Ward is
maybe the story as to how they got where there are,
Like cam Ward is playing for Incarnate Word.
Speaker 8 (01:50:58):
A couple of years ago.
Speaker 5 (01:50:59):
And it has balled out every single step of the way.
And that's not to say George Sanders hasn't from Japan State,
but I wonder a little bit, when your dad isn't your.
Speaker 8 (01:51:08):
Head coach, how much is that factor?
Speaker 5 (01:51:10):
And now I'm not saying it does, but I would
be curious to see, Hey, what's it like when you
have an NFL coach screaming in your face and it's
not a conversation afterwards about well, you know, we got
to make sure George's his help and all that, and
not even anything Dean Sanders said wasn't untrue. But I
would be curious, Hey, if we're to change the variables
up a little bit for you on the head coaching.
Speaker 8 (01:51:29):
Side, how much does that impact? But to me, I
think it's probably a coke PEPSI taste test.
Speaker 5 (01:51:36):
I don't think you're probably going massively wrong drafting either
guys to shit here, you know, in late January.
Speaker 8 (01:51:43):
But I will say this.
Speaker 5 (01:51:44):
I had a buddy that is in the NFL who
is in the scouting world, and he says he like,
should do wear the.
Speaker 8 (01:51:49):
Best as of right now.
Speaker 3 (01:51:51):
So let me piggyback on out right there? Could you say?
Sound very interesting? But I don't agree with that.
Speaker 4 (01:51:55):
What makes you think of the whole dad being as coach?
Because players and pro athletes are are, you know, son
of coaches up and down. And I think anybody coaches
should do or has enough knowledge and love or respect
for Dion that they're going to do their best because
Dion will definitely pull his kid if he's got to.
But what kind of draws your mind there?
Speaker 3 (01:52:14):
What makes you bring that up?
Speaker 5 (01:52:16):
I think the thing that they could be curious is
just the communications style, right Like I'll give you an example.
When I was at Baylor and Matt Ruhle left to
the NFL. I love Matt, rule think he's a tremendous
college head coach. My first thought of like, hey, that's
that's not going to work in the NFL's by nature
of how he coaches, like he is.
Speaker 8 (01:52:33):
He is the lot, he is the judge ory executioner
like he is at his best, and he has total
control of the entire program.
Speaker 5 (01:52:42):
And for Shu Dr Sanders, now, I only have example
size with him with with one kind of communion, with
one kind of communication style with is that.
Speaker 8 (01:52:49):
And again I'm not saying that it couldn't.
Speaker 5 (01:52:51):
Work, but I would be curious to see, Hey, if
you get a super intense head coach who's showing you
out after one pick and who's not you know, got
the ben fit it out in the faith in you
that maybe a family member would have, I would be
curious to see how he'd respond to that. So it's
not even a shoulder question so much as a hey,
I feel like there is more I know here about
a cam Ward I do about a Shuduar Sanders. Now,
(01:53:13):
I'll probably still with that shrewis anders ok number one.
But if you have a question about fdor Sanders to meet,
that's the one that I would have.
Speaker 2 (01:53:19):
So I want to take the conversation from there to
another guy who does rule or has ruled with an
iron fist in the NFL level.
Speaker 3 (01:53:28):
Now he's going to be coaching his first college games.
Bill Belichick in North Carolina tell me, am I crazy
to think when in a world which you know, SMU
and Indiana competed for the college football playoffs? Am I
crazy to think? And you're closer to this than I am,
covering the transfer port and all of it. But am
I crazy to think that Belichick could sneak into this
(01:53:50):
playoff next year?
Speaker 5 (01:53:52):
I don't think it's the craziest thing, just because you've
got so many Super Bowls and all supcess he's had.
It's kind of funny. We talked about that post d
on like the same thing with communication style. Who've got
arguably the most mentally tough, greatest competitor of all time,
and Tom Brady's saying like, hey, this guy kind of
sucked to play for like that we want a lot.
Nobody really had all that much.
Speaker 8 (01:54:12):
Of an enjoyment factor there.
Speaker 5 (01:54:15):
If Tom Brady, being a professional athlete, is saying that, like,
what's the college kid saying when he has to go
to you know whatever, I mean sociology after practice and
like he's got.
Speaker 8 (01:54:25):
Other things on his play outside of football. Like to me,
it's just it's been very round peg, square holeless for.
Speaker 5 (01:54:31):
Whatever whatever that expression is since he's taken this job,
the buy out makes me nervous, Like I just I
wonder how bought in Bill Belichick is even into college football,
to be honest with shelf, so I mean.
Speaker 8 (01:54:43):
Not the craziest thing in the world.
Speaker 5 (01:54:44):
It sounds like they've really upped their nil from I
want to see like single digit millions to darn near
twenty millions.
Speaker 8 (01:54:50):
So that'll probably help a good amount.
Speaker 3 (01:54:51):
That'll help.
Speaker 8 (01:54:52):
Yeah, this this, this feels funky to me.
Speaker 3 (01:54:54):
I don't like it.
Speaker 2 (01:54:55):
Yeah, oh say, I'm a fan of the move and
just real quick they'll give you my take on it.
But I think part of the reason you say like
the communications.
Speaker 3 (01:55:02):
I agree with you, But I think when you were
in the locker room for the length of time that
Tom Brady was in the locker room, it can grade
on you for a while. It can grade on you
after a while.
Speaker 2 (01:55:15):
I think that when you're only when you're the longest
you'll play for a Belichick in this year's college football,
this era college football.
Speaker 3 (01:55:22):
It is three or four years. I can see, well,
I just see I can see the communication style. I
get it.
Speaker 2 (01:55:27):
If it was gonna if you're talking about ten years
with the same guys not gonna work. But you know,
ten games with the same guys, I can see it
play out. But you know what JD will have you
on going forward. We'll have you on some of the
draft stuff. We'll figure out what we can do with you.
Now that there's no more college football games doesn't mean
there's not still football news JD Pkel. You can catch
them on YouTube, The Hard Count on three, College Football Insider,
(01:55:50):
The Bishop Magic wand Down a College football JD.
Speaker 8 (01:55:52):
Thanks pal, appreciate y'all.
Speaker 3 (01:55:54):

Do you have it again? Play again if you call

this time next week, all right? You know, by this
time next week we know everybody makes predictions. We try
to tell you what's actually going to happen in the future.
Speaker 3 (01:56:56):
Like I predicted I said at the end of this
by the way, Sundays we will have the conversation Jaydon
Daniels the best rookie quarterback ever, And sure enough about
Tuesday started having that conversation.
Speaker 2 (01:57:08):
I'll start one with this right here. The cam Ward
to number one noise will become deafening. We see this
happen every single year. There's a quarterback who, to me
and my eyes is clearly head and shoulders better than
one person.
Speaker 3 (01:57:22):
And all of a sudden, no more games played, one.
Speaker 2 (01:57:25):
Guy just rises up the rankings. Cameron Ward, welcome to
the top of the mock drafts. I will stick with
a college theme here too.
Speaker 4 (01:57:33):
I think by this time next week we're gonna start
to not hear the name of Travis Hunter so much
as like two or three are they gonna start to
be other teams that are trying to get to quarterbacks,
which means teams will trade out, which is only gonna
make him start to talk to For Travis Hunter, it's
not a lock number two pick, definitely not number one,
(01:57:53):
because that team's gonna take a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:57:56):
By this time next week. We already had the beginning
of it, and I may be stealing one the vj's
on accident, but by this time next week they'll be like,
wait a minute, did the Lakers do we really hire
Jj Reddick as our head coach?
Speaker 2 (01:58:11):
Is he gonna be the guy who's gonna figure out
this mess that we're in. Yeah, No, there's no trade coming.
There is no cavalry coming.
Speaker 5 (01:58:19):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:58:20):
All there will be coming is more complaints.
Speaker 4 (01:58:22):
And speaking of the Lakers, they're on TV right now
playing the Golden State Warriors, and by this time next week,
sitting at twenty two and twenty two right now, by
this time next week, guys, the Golden State Wars season
will be over.
Speaker 3 (01:58:32):
It will be over.
Speaker 4 (01:58:33):
I don't care if they get it as a plan.
They're not gonna They're not gonna do anything in the playoffs.
This is over right now. Jazz thunder Suns this week.
Jazz are terrible, but the thunder are great, and the
Suns are fighting right now, possibly getting Jimmy Butler here soon.
But by this time next week, I'll go out on
the limb. I love stuff, but I'm gonna say go
to State Wars. Season is gonna be done.
Speaker 2 (01:58:51):
By this time next week. Thus, New Orleans States will
still not have a head coach. Because this is what
bad organizations do. They're gonna wait until Cliff Kingsbury's available
to interview. He said he's not taking virtual interviews until
Washington's out of the playoffs, so I think Washington wins tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:59:08):
He won't be taking interviews until after the Super Bowl.
The Saints will back into the right choice because they're
gonna be embarrassed and end up having to offer Mike
McCarthy the job, and that's who the job should go to. Anyway.
Speaker 4 (01:59:20):
By this time next week, we will be set for
a Super Bowl rematch from two years ago. As we
will know, it will be the Philadelphia Eagles taking on
a team trying to go for destiny and history and
the Kansas City Chiefs and Josh Allen will still have
the nickname Apple Turnover.
Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
By the time next week, the conversation will be best
rookie season ever. Jayden Daniels are Eric Dickerson. God bless
everybody erin to our Jason Barton up next.
Speaker 3 (01:59:45):
We're out.
