Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
That's right. We're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio
studios in between games one and two of the NBA
Finals and also the NHL Final.
Speaker 3 (00:15):
Final.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
No, people have corrected me that on my updates, and
thank you because they're all been very kind as they
did it, seriously, seriously. That's how you know they're all
Canadian because they've all been very very kind. Wait, it's
the Stanley Cup Final. Yes, what I promise you. I've
been writing finals. No, no, no, it is the NBA Finals,
the Stanley Cup Final, and hockey is the Eastern Conference Final,
(00:37):
Western Conference Final. I know they play the same amount
of games in both sports, but it is definitely singular
in hockey.
Speaker 4 (00:44):
Hold on, so they're adding used to words, but they're
taking the S off of this. I don't like that.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
I don't like that Canada, That's exactly what is happening.
But I will say to the Canadian listeners that I've
corrected me. They always been like, yo, love you on
the air. Just wants you to know, because I mean,
I'm from Louisiana. We ain't doing that around here. It
don't sound like that. That's the best I could do.
That's the best that I could do there, but I
do want to start and the other actually read this
(01:14):
article might have been in your outlet, The Athletic about
how the Canadian basketball fans we're having trouble trying to
get Bars to change the channel to the thunder Pacer series,
which has a significant amount of Canadians in said series,
with Jay Gilders, Alexander lou Dort, Benedict Mathern and I'm
Andrew Nemhart, right and right. So it's like, you know,
(01:35):
it's kind of Canada's finals. You talk about the international takeover.
Nobody talks about Canada, right, well, because they don't do
anything in the Olympics. And speaking of the Olympics, I
keep going back to this one moment because the entirety
of the summer, the conversation was, Oh my god, can
(01:56):
you believe that Jason Tatum is stable to the bench,
he can't get up. Coach Steve Kerr should be court marshall.
This is international crime that a guy who just won
the finals can't play. Yeah, right, that was you know,
and then he got to the point of it, was
it intentional or was it Steven Jason Tatum should be
disrespected by all of that. Right, they won the gold,
(02:18):
right they did, if I remember, But there was another
guy on that bench. There's another guy on that bench
right next to Jason Tatum that nobody seemed to give
a good dog on that he was there.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
That was Tyreesh Halliburt. You know who is going.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Through the Eastern Conference Finals now back to back years
now in the NBA Finals. And the thing that I
think is the most fascinating of it all is in
that entirety of that conversation, nobody once said, unless you
live in Indiana, said well, Tyresh Halliburton isn't playing either.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
It was all Jason Tatum, Jason tATu, Jason Tatum.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
I say that because the NBA hierarchy at the time
had Jason Tatum several notches above Tyresh Haliburt, despite the
fact that both going to the Eastern Conference Finals that year.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
So, but you agree with me on that one, Oh
yeah for sure.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Okay. So now we have seen Tyrese Haliburton have a
postseason that looks like he is playing the last two
minutes of the game on easy mode. How does that
change where you viewed him? Where you view him now
as opposed to where you viewed him.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
Then it's interesting because the Pacers two years ago, right,
they traded for Halliburton, maybe three years ago, that's a right.
And two years ago they realized what they had with him,
and we knew he was a good player in Sacramento, right,
We knew he was a good.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Play three seasons in our four seasons and traded midway
through that and then three full seasons in Indiana, and
so they knew what they had with him.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
But after about a season and a half, they're like,
all right, we got to change our identity to this.
We are going to run Halle is going to direct this.
We're going to make sure we just run everybody out
of the gym. And that was gonna be their identity, right,
And so this is all based around Tyre's haliburt. Now,
you have plenty of teams that have a player and
they're like, we're gonna build around them. And then you're
(04:04):
the Hornets around LaMelo Ball and it doesn't matter. You're
the Hawks around Trey Young and it doesn't matter. This matters.
Hallie is that guy. I think he's a superstar.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
He doesn't have the commercials and all this stuff. Yet
he's got the personality for it. He trash talks, he's clutch,
he's got the stats for it. Like all right, you
want him just drop like thirty every night, that's not
his game. This dude is like the new Steve Nash,
Like that's what he is. And he doesn't turn the
ball over like he is as clutch as it gets,
(04:38):
Like he is having a run that you don't see,
You flat out don't see. And to me, if you
don't think he's a superstar, that's fine, I'm sorry. He
just beat your team. Like that's my reaction.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
So let me ask you on the point of superstar,
because I think that we get a lot of labels
that throw are not just throwing around. I'm not saying
you threw that around lightly, but labels get thrown around.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
It's all prisoner, It's all right now.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
So how when you say superstar, how do you define
what a superstar is? Are there a set number of
superstars in the NBA that he's given moment in time?
Speaker 4 (05:14):
Is there accolade you have to achieve? How do you
define it? I think it's it's got to be a
few things, right, accolades matter. He's all NBA, he's all Star.
I think success matters. Let his team deep in the
playoffs last year, Let him to the finals this year.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
They might win it.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
You know, we got to figure that out, but they
might win it. I think, you know, accolades. On top
of that, No, he didn't play, but he was an Olympian.
He's got a gold medal. Sure, right on top of that,
Like it's performance. His stats are great, His you know,
his clutched stats are great. The narratives about him, the
the you know, he had that whole thing, which it
(05:48):
really annoyed me, so I hate to bring it up,
but like the whole overrated conversation, because thirteen players voted
him the most overrated player. So now we got to hammer.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
That all the time.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
It's an overrated story.
Speaker 5 (05:59):
It is.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
He gotta be here for the next three hours.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
But you know, they like, he's got the stories for it,
he's got the attention for it. He's a trash talk
like they are all these things down the checklist. I
think the problem is he plays in Indiana, and that
is a team that not really many people knew about
until about two weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Right because even last year it was and Jalen I
saw a clip and I, oh, my goodness, I'm doing this.
I hate to do this. I'm pretty sure it happened.
It might have been an AI thing, but I'm ninety
ninety sure that happened. It was a year ago, so
forgive me. But it was Jalen Brown essentially saying at
the end of the sweep last year that like, these
(06:43):
guys really pushed us. This did happen. Happened, Like they
really pushed us. They were making like devil magic shots
and that was like, and I know it, it's kind
of made fun of. That was a very competitive Each
one of those four games were very competitive. But if
you can look back the box score, it says four
nothing Boston and Boston of course had gone on what's
on the process of going on what was then a
(07:04):
historic postseason run. So it gets lost in the sands
of time, but that that Patriers team was there that year,
and even I'll remember that crossing route that they ran
in Game one, running place and it ended up losing.
But in any event, I say, because I think that
I think I have a very very uh strict line
(07:26):
when it comes to what a superstar isn't is. And
one of the things that comes with the superstardom to
me is consistency over time. Like I think that right
now this is not no sort of knock at all,
but this is a Tyre's Heliburton. If he continues on
this path, by this time next year, I will be saying, superstar.
You know what I'm saying. I gotta see this again
(07:49):
and then I'll go ahead and stamp it, because I
think that when we had what superstars have to have
the wins behind it for me for that to be
a thing, Because I think you can make the argument
that a guy to your point, Trey Young, people would
argue sometimes he.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Is a superstar. I think he's a very good player.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Well, I think Tyre's Halliburn is what people thought Trey
Young was.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
I can I'm with you there, like I'm being the highestist,
you know, and then also very efficient like and Trey Young.
But I'm watched him out of Oklahoma. They were calling
about Steph Curry and I was like, dude, he's the thing.
Tray Young really can't shoot from three.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
He just a lot a lot from far and when
they go in it's let me say, he can't shoot.
He doesn't make a whole lot of them. Yeah three,
But yeah, like this is that. That's the thing. So
I would I would go, look, well, you can think
whatever you want about the NBA Cup. Since last year's
inaugural NBA Cup, Halliburton has been a household name. I
say that, you know, like he dominated that story. I
(08:50):
would say he has been the story of the postseason.
I'd say that as well. And so to me, you're right,
it's been at most a year and a half of this, right,
at most a year and a half of this. I
feel confident saying it because I think this is here
to stay. I have no doubts about that. I think
this is this is who he is, and this is
what they are, and this is the Pacers moving forward.
(09:13):
Especially with the way the Eastern Conference looks, with the
Tatum injury and all this stuff, I think this team
is going to be at the forefront of every conversation
in the East moving forward. It's, you know, whether they
win this championship or not. Where I would say about
Halle is and I'm not saying he's the same player.
To me, it feels a lot like some of us,
myself included back in twenty thirteen. We're like, oh, Steph
(09:35):
Currz the greatest shooter of all time.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
He're like, whoa hold.
Speaker 4 (09:38):
On, we need a better resume, Like he hasn't been
doing that lot. I was like, Okay, we can wait
on it, or we can just accept what's in front
of our eyes adopter verse. Yeah, and it doesn't and
it's not a whole like hipster. I'm just saying, like,
what we see in front of our eyes is not
a fluke. This guy is dominating a postseason, and not
just from play. From narrative. He had a horrible game one.
(09:59):
He was bad. He's the story because he hit that
clutch shot. And he hit that clutch shot and no one,
no one thought that wasn't going in. And everybody in
the in the building the second he got the ball, say,
misses that shot, they're down one. He gets the ball.
Every one in that building told me, oh that thing,
that place was nervous. They was the only time in
(10:20):
that game they were nervous.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
And I mean I was watching the game in the
bar and as soon as you crossed the half court, I said, oh,
this is money.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
I was yelling like I don't I don't have a
rooting interest. I was yelling, where's the doll? I'm screaming
at my TV go doublin see.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
And I appreciate that because you're rooting interest is in
whatever team is making the mistakes.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
Yes, I'm like, where's the basketball happening? Like, why are
you letting this dude walk into a pull up jumper?
Speaker 2 (10:43):
What do you? What do you watch? Very much happens
in my house as well. My fans would be like,
who are you actually rooting for?
Speaker 4 (10:47):
It's like, whoever's wrong just needs to be right. I'm
rooting for the mistakes to not happen.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
And so. But I bring all this up because we're
on the same page Tyr's Halliburton. Yes, in fact good Yeah.
But I'm seeing now like the Ringer, for example, ranked
him seventh in all players in the NBA. That's dramatic.
I keep going back to that, those all NBA teams,
I keep going back to the Olympic team, and I
(11:13):
feel like he's exactly where he should be in those hierarchies. Now,
I think that though the greater NBA discourse, maybe this
is a conference podcast but more, but there's a space
for Tyrese Haliburton to be having an incredible postseason, to
be having a postseason in terms of clutch factor we
(11:34):
had not seen in and maybe ever right, and him
not necessarily become a top seven player in the NBA. No,
he's not a top seven. Not know, he's not a
top I thought he's about the top fifteen, top fifteen
to twenty. Maybe now I have him like top thirteen,
but in the right position. I think a lot of
guys could do what he's doing, but not necessarily with
(11:56):
the success level.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
Like do you see what I'm saying?
Speaker 2 (11:58):
Agreed?
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Yeah, I mean I would say Jimmy Butler's in that
like eleven to fifteen range, right, I also say Jimmy
Butler is a superstar, Okay, And I think that's where
Tyree says. I think, I don't think he's a top
ten player, but you don't really need to be a
top ten player one to be a superstar and two
to lead your team to a championship.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
And this is something that bothers me about the way
that we talk about this league as opposed to way
we talk about other leagues, Because no one in the
NFL says, like Lamar Jackson stinks because Patrick Mahomes are rephrase,
Josh Allen stinks because Patrick Mahomes just bounce him out
the playoffs four times. It's it's something that he needs
(12:35):
to get better at. But no one is like, this
guy's terrible. But we all can agree that Patrick Mahomes
is better.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
Right now, did Josh Allen won the MVP this year?
Speaker 2 (12:47):
No one is gonna be like, Josh Allen is better
than Patrick Mahomes, right, But like, so you can say
that Tyreese Halliburton is having an incredible postseason without having
to be like, you know what, he is now definitively
better then whoever you thought he.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
Wasn't not better than stuff he's not, right, Yeah, that's
my point.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
It's like we can just sit here and enjoy what
we're watching, Like I don't have to sit there and
watch Josh Allen's MVP year and be like, well, you
know what, he ain't ma Homes to your point, I
don't care what he's done.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
I have never and will never think Eli Manning was
a good quarterback. I don't care. I don't care how
many rings he has.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
And it's like we have morphedist to like now I'm
watching like I'm not sitting in arguments in my day job.
We're talking about like, no, Tyres Haliburton is not top ten,
and they're like, oh, you're a hater. I'm like, no,
what he's doing right now is incredible, but I need
to see a little bit.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
Like we're talking some of the top.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Ten players in the NBA today.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
I think he can get there. I agree he's not there.
I agree, but who cares? He's want to know in
the finals. And that's ultimately the point, Like you know
what I'm saying. Ultimately, the point is who gives a damn?
Speaker 2 (13:53):
When I was a kid, my favorite player was Allen Iverson,
who had no point was the best player in the
NBA in his career.
Speaker 3 (13:59):
At no point was he the best.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Player in the I didn't care. It didn't matter to me.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
By the way, happy fiftieth birthday at Alan Everson today day? Yeah,
how about that? How about that? I know I've been
watching clips all day.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Man, I tell you what, we're gonna talk about Alan
Iverson again, I didn't even know today was his fiftieth birthday.
That's how that's perfect freaking symmetry right there. Allen Iverson
is easily on my mount Rushmore of athletes by far,
and it's select. The criteria is just how much did
I like you know what I'm saying, fan kid growing
up like winning and all that matters.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
But you know him, Randy Moss and.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
I'll reveal the other when we talk about this at
the top of the what is that nine o'clock hour
Eastern time? But there was a firing that happened in
professional sports that apparently was sitting in the call for
for months no matter what, and sure enough it did.
We're getting to it coming up next. Should he have
been fired? Who's gonna replace him? I mean, sometimes you
(14:56):
just make changes. I don't know if that was the
Restlan though a good one though. We'll get to that
con just a minute. Martin Wiss Zach Harper Fox Sports Radio.

according to the reporting by Ramona Shelbourne, Tom Thibodeau was
(15:37):
on the way out well before.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
The Eastern Conference. Oh yes he was.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
And it's it's one of those you read it and
you're like, well, why don't you just do it then?
And then you remember when Mike Malon got fired, Taylor
Jacobs got fired in the.
Speaker 3 (15:51):
Whole world saying what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Right, but then TIB's getting fired ultimately an ishal moment.
Back to back fifty one seasons, the most successful two
seasons back to back in Nick's in at least twenty
five years, right, And so then you.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Ask the guy Thibodeau, who.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Sometimes somebody will say something in one of these athletes
podcasts and it just completely shines an entire new light
on everything that you're everything that you're watching, because they
and they say it kind of offhand, right, But when
Jeff Tige said that Tibbs doesn't coach, all Tibbs says
is damn.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
And he's like, oh, turn the ball of damn get
a stop.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
Damn. Right, It's really changed the way I watched the
Eastern Conference finals and then watching Carlisle just employ his
challenges in such a way that he just gained extra
First team every time that Halliburton stepped back behind the
three point line. Shot doesn't happen if he doesn't use
his challenges in the right moments to buy those extra possessions. Right,
(16:51):
stay out and say boom. Tom Thibodeau floor racer type
of guy. They make the fire him with the idea
that there's somebody that are out there. Do you think
that there's somebody better out there? Was just the right
move for the Knicks to do at this time period,
considering what they have on the roster.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
No, it wasn't the right move. Look, if you don't
think Tom Thibodeaux is the right coach for this team
or there is a better coach out there, fine, I
don't think he. I don't think he was unfireable.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Right.
Speaker 4 (17:20):
This goes back to I was hearing him back in
probably late January, early February. Anything short of a conference
finals he was out. And I think the reason, you know,
the when they went into the season, no one knew
Cleveland was gonna be this good, right sure, Like everyone's
kind of like myself and Clue was kind of like,
hey Cleveland, they kind of they gotta break up this
(17:40):
Garland Mitchell thing. They gotta break up this Alan Mobley thing,
like they you know, they're in trouble. And and then
they were great and.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Make the to the point, make a coaching change, go
from four seat to the one seat exactly.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
And so the Knicks viewed this as it is us
and it is Boston and.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
That and like that that it's the hierarchy.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
And then in the Eastern Conference, be honest, last summer
I would have said the same thing exactly, the same
two And then here were the Calves and now it's
a two horse race and the Knicks aren't a part
of that. And then the Knicks were so bad against
both those teams in the regular season. Now it was
really a lot of pressure on them, right And now
that didn't prove to be the case in the in
the playoffs. But thing, you know, those things change. So
(18:23):
you get to the you get to the playoffs, the
Pacers bounce the Calves. You no longer have to worry
about them. You bounced the Celtics. Those expectations change. It's
no longer you got to get to at least the
Eastern Conference Finals. Now it's oh, well, you should beat
the Pacers. We don't respect the Pacers. There's a lot
of Pacer disrespects right now. Absolutely, like and so I
(18:45):
think a big reason, like, you know, look, the reporting
is like, oh, that game one that sealed it. I
think it was sealed months ago.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
It felt now And obviously you have the ability to
look back after the Thibodeau firing. But and I was
again some of the strategic things in the postseason, I'm like, oh,
well that's kind of glaring and it seemed obvious, and
it's like, oh, I don't know if he doesn't, Oh,
there is no curveball here. Now. The one that got
me is and this is one of the ones when
(19:16):
I really disagree with the way the national conversation went
that did a TIBs went to his bench. TIBs went
to his bench because Jalen Brunton had four files in
the first half. After that he found out that he
had two guys on the bench that could play. Now,
the dynamics of the NBA is such it's the same
in all professional sports that the GM's over the head
coach just about unless you got a head coach that
(19:36):
got so much juice that he either is the GM
or do you know how that plays? When you're not
playing your bench, you're the facto telling the GM. I
think you did a bad job building this roster route
example number one I bring to the jewelry the Denver Nuggets.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
Right, that was a problem for two three years exactly.
Speaker 2 (19:56):
When you watch Landry Shammitt, of who I honestly was like, wait,
Landry Fields. But when I see Landry Shammitt and Delon Wright,
who I feel like I last heard from Delon Wright
during the bubble, are coming out and making contributions in
the postseason, I think that almost sealed his job right
then and there, because it's like you got Michael Bridges
(20:16):
complaining about playing forty six minutes in February against Charlotte,
and you also these guys at the bench that can
show that could play.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Not necessarily that they should have been playing.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
In the playoffs, but maybe they should have been playing
in Charlotte.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
So you could play. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (20:29):
Yeah, Like I'll say this, like I don't think Landry
Shammon's that good. I think he played over his head
and I don't think he should have got ready to
Delon Wright can hoop. He's a good veteran player, and
I do think they look he needs to utilize his
bench more. And it's funny we got like right before
the conference finals started, I remember seeing a lot of like, oh,
(20:49):
I thought Tibbs ran his team into the ground, they
can't make a deep run and all that, Like that's
what the conversation was, right, it was like justice for Tibbs.
And now it's like, oh no, see this is a problem,
Like we can't be this wishwash like about this, Like yeah,
it's it's crazy, and so like I'm with you on
all that stuff, like he needed to play his bench more.
I also don't think that bench is that good. So
(21:11):
it's it's kind of iffy there. So if you're going
to replace him, and the name, you know, Jason Kidd
is a name being thrown around today, like they may
try to interview Jason Kidd and they would have to
give compensation to Dallas if that all goes and if
Dallas agrees to and all this stuff, right, So there
is that possibility. But the main name that has been
(21:31):
there for over a month is Michael Malone, New York
guy rep by Cia, which we know matters to the Knicks,
matters a lot championship ring. Easy sell. Except here's my
problem with that one. He just got fired for the
same reasons you fired Tips.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
Two, I don't think he's a better coach than Tips.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
It's gonna be real hard to run to throw the
body Yolkic play in New York.
Speaker 4 (21:56):
It sure is. You can do it twice a year,
but that's not good for your team because he's on
the other team. So that's an issue. Three, Like, I
don't know what his system is because of what you
just said, Like you can you can run some of
that stuff with Cat, not a lot of it. You
can run some of that stuff with O G not
a lot of it. Like you can't run none of
(22:20):
that stuff with Cat. You can run the ribbleand off
stuff with them, all right, But that's I mean, but
that's like saying I don't even know what the example is.
That's like I say, you could do two plus two
but a calculus, yeah, you know, like but like some
of that stuff and like defensively, you know that thing
wasn't working and they have about the same level of
of defensive personnel. Is what is what Denver had, So
(22:44):
what's the upgrade there. It's just the pr of saying
we hired a championship coach.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Yeah, it's it's it's a.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
It's a it's I don't it's oh great, you won
the press conference.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
You could look at all the the when you know,
the offshore books put the odds up of who's the
next coach gonna be. I don't like any of those options, honestly,
like none of those alone.
Speaker 4 (23:04):
I think Johnny Bryant is a really bright, good assistant coach.
I've I covered him in Utah for a little bit.
He is one of those next guys. I don't know
what he runs. I don't know what he's going to do.
I think he will be a good head coach someday.
I don't know that's gonna be ready. He might come
in and they win sixty five games. He might come
(23:25):
in and they don't make them. You know, they don't
make it past the playing tournament, Like I don't know.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
It's one of the most fascinating differences between NBA and
NFL discourse, and we like you have a general idea
when the offensive coordinator is doing something crazy.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Yeah, I know, he's a great I know he's great
at talent development. I know he's a great development guy.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
I don't know what he runs, and I guess with
the Knicks, Yeah, I'm just thinking about it.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
With the Knicks, those guys, a lot of them are
pretty established.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Yeah, though they do have I mean well to the
point you gotta get a.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Excuse me.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
Oh yeah, the Tyler Kolik or what those guys you know,
you hear their next beat rider, be like, if they
could just get one of them? Yeah, all right. Sure.
Most of the time, in sports and in life, history
is written by the winners. This championship makes me feel
like two instances where the loser actually was the bigger story.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
We'll get into that in just a moment.
Speaker 2 (24:22):

Speaker 6 (24:45):
Hello guys, and last Saturday night, the Fox Baseball game
was the Dodgers eighteen to two over the Yankees. In
the seven games since, LA has eighteen runs total. They
continue to leave men on base and lost two to
one at Saint lo today and Dodger pitcher Tony Gonsolin
goes on the injured list.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
That is ten.
Speaker 6 (25:05):
Starting pitchers on the IL for LA. Philadelphia first baseman
Bryce Harper went on the injured list with wrist inflammation.
Phillies have lost four straight now dropped a two to
one decision at Pittsburgh. The Padres are right now half
game behind the first place Dodgers in the NL West.
Giants are only one game back San Francisco, a three
to two winner over the Braves, who lost six straight.
(25:26):
The Padres are scoreless at the Brewers in the top
of the fourth. Most of the country on Fox seeing
a surprisingly high scoring game at Yankee Stadium. It's Boston six'
three over The yanks in the top of the fourth
And Garrett crochet is the starter and has six strikeouts
in three innings For. Boston Ryan yarbo has been great
in the rotation for The, yankees But yarborough's allowed six

Earlier cincinnati Swept arizona beat him, twice first in ten

two Is Sunday Center Zach edy of The grizzlies will
reportedly miss the start of next.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
Season he'll have ankle. Surgery back to, you Thanks Steve
Martin Wis And Zach harper comes to you live from
The Fox Sports radio. Studios and So zach won't talk
with THE Nba finals from kind of a historical lens,
here because we had so much time between the ends
of the conference finals and The finals that you got
to be able.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
To try to find many different ways take it into.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
It so prior to this and even still, now The
Oklahoma city thunder were prohibitive favorites to win this whole, thing,
right ninety seven hundred to win the finals prior To game,
one and it was up there with one of the
biggest favorites verse underdogs IN nba, history which reminded me
of another massive, upset the twenty eleven finals Where lebron
(27:31):
and The heatles were shut down BY Jj burray and somebody,
else Drk nowitzky and so, on and The dallas Average
Shawn stevenson exactly guarded and coached By Rick. Carlisle so
we remember that one for the choke Of lebron and
the rest of The heatles and so on and so.
Forth but it was also again if you look at
(27:52):
it from the winning side of things and extras And
oo's masterpiece to where you can Guard lebron with somebody
who's literally a damn near it's shorter than, him and
there'll be no, options, right and there'll be seemingly no.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Options and we see that happen to great.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
Players and that's one of the marks Of lebron's career
that he was able to overcome that and then go
forth and have the career that he ended up.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
Happening all, Right so leave that. There the other.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
One after Watching game, ONE i was reminded again of
my favorite basketball player of all, Time happy birthday To
Bubba chuck stepping Over Tyron lou in THE Nba, finals
and who at that time Was Tyron lou who's now
changed his name In tay he coaches The, clippers but
a great, rebrand by the, way oh, fantastic fantastic. Brand
but because at that time that is what he was known,
(28:36):
for and that finals and that, moment that moment of
irish since stepping Over Tyler, lou you will not see
AN Nba playoffs until the remainder until there is no
MORE nba without seeing a clip of. That that series
was an ass, Whooping, yes it sure. Was they that
step over moment was the last moment of happiness In
(28:59):
philadelphia in that, series another series kind of defined or
moment defined by the. Loser And so WHEN i Watched
Andrew nemhard do his, hes he, hes he pounds, Rabble
i'm just don't. You WHEN i Watched Andrew nemhard Put
Shake Gildas alexander in a bit of a blender hit
(29:20):
that step back, THREE i, thought wait a, minute, guys
because we just watched the game in Which Shake Gildas
alexander had damn it throw with thirty points on thirty.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
Shots check, invisible J dubb.
Speaker 2 (29:35):
Invisible, right all This thunder turning the, ball forcing turnovers
didn't matter because transition defense all of a sudden was
just in. Play, Yeah or was this, Like, yo you
just Watched Andrew nemhard Make house Of, highlights and you,
know if you just look at the box, score The
thunder just missed ninety eight layups this. Game this shouldn't
(29:57):
have been.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Close, YEAH i, mean because The thunder did everything in
that box score aside.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
From the three point shooting and the. Rebounding they, dominated, right.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
It's one of the more confounding things you'll.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
See they.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
Dominated and much like that that comeback against The knicks
In game. One it's, interesting like The thunder didn't just
like start missing every shot in that fourth. Quarter they
were scoring just they were trading three for, Two yeah for, one,
Right Like topping hit a, Three turner hit a, Three
toping hit another, Three turner hit another, three the nem hard,
(30:28):
three like you, know they were just. Executing Nie SMITH
i think hit a three at one. Point The pacers just.
Executing they were hitting from from three point range and
they hit a lot of corner, threes and so IT
i think it would be more towards The Dallas mavericks
twenty eleven one in terms of. Competition at the same,
Time denver won game one IN okc in the second
(30:53):
round and they got smoked by forty three points in
the second. Game, yeah now that game that did go,
Seven but we, know we know the under can, respond
AND i actually think a lot of their offense was
well executed aside from the shot. Making and as long
as you get good, SHOTS i think you have to
be comfortable in what you. Did it's WHY i don't
think you Saw shay, really you, know stressed in the postgame.
(31:16):
Interview you didn't See Mark deagnault stressed in the postgame
interview BECAUSE i think they were comfortable with what they
got in terms of the.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
Shots it's just about.
Speaker 4 (31:24):
Executing you have to trust your guys to eventually make the,
shots and SO i think from a game plan, standpoint
they don't have to change too. MUCH i didn't Like
i've been at odds with this with a couple of
people who are very smart about. BASKETBALL i didn't like
the lineup change to. START i thought that was a. Mistake,
okay other people have been, like that wasn't a.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Problem they started out the game.
Speaker 4 (31:41):
Well to, ME i think you stick with your, identity
and your identity for most of this playoff run has
been we Started, hertenstein we Started. CHET i don't think
the matchups With indiana are so lopsided that you need
to conform to. THEM i think you need to play your,
basketball hammer them on the, boards hammer them, inside and
make them conform to.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
YOU i would that's. EXACTLY i would have done that
the same.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Thing and IF i saw the game switch or shifting
in that, way Then i'm Working wildace in or sure
maybe more during the rotational. Period i'm having that conversation
with my big man A. Hartenstein you're gonna start, today
but it may be a little less than you've, expected
you know What i'm, saying a. Chat you, know you
might be out there by. Yourself you guys might be
out there By BUT i think it did throw Off chet's,
(32:25):
game as we've seen he was because he was a no,
show yeah uh in game, one AND i think a
lot of it had to do with because of the
fact he.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Didn't have his big Buddy hartenstein behind.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Him so Now chet's got to go from playing just
tall man the big, man and that's a lot Different
chet not you, know he pretty, tall but he ain't that, big.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Right and they were worried about him dealing With, sakam
which Sure siakam is a. Problem he's been great in
this postseason average twenty. Five last, series won The Eastern
Conference FINALS, mvp much to Tyres hellenburten's.
Speaker 7 (32:51):
Surprise if you saw that video with him about to
get one of the, best that's what's so, Funny, like,
yes that could be a matchup problem for, him but
they have so much chemistry with him And hartstein on
the other end of the floor with their kind of, big, big.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
You, know.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
Passing i'd sacrifice that and have enough help Like siaka
puts on the.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Floor you got. Help SO i THINK i didn't necessarily
hate the line up, change, uh, schematically but emotionally and
mentally at that's what my problem. Is that's my. Problem
AND i think this we run into this sometimes when
you got the guys who play math versus the guys
who played, basketball because, okay see for all all of
the you, KNOW mvp and all of, that they play
(33:31):
math for, sure and that's they end up taking Like
boston takes twenty eight threes up.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Whatever you know What i'm, Saying, well this is what we, do,
Right AND i think like that.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
One is more you couldn't account for what it meant
like watching them change, things especially when you've got a
massive underdog on the. ROAD i think you gotta look
Like Rick carlisle and that title was, like they're scared of, us,
absolutely you know What i'm, Saying, like that's what he,
Said they're.
Speaker 3 (33:56):
Scared look at them changing what they. Do we're gonna
go out there.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
And make them feel, it and that's why it's why
it's a big. Look they weren't gonna be deterred by
a fifteen point deficit anyway in the fourth quarter based
on what they've been, doing but, man that shows You
like it reminded me of Another Dallas matters series two
thousand and, seven that first round series against The. Warriors,
yep they changed that lineup early on in that, series
(34:21):
maybe even the start game, one And Golden state New they're, like,
oh they're afraid of. Us we can bully this. Team
it's not bullying so, much but they know, That, hey
they're afraid to run with.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Us so let's do a sweet. Spot Because tim's got
fired in part by not using by not making these lineup.
Adjustments there's definitely a sweet, spot and you, know part
of hitting that sweet spot is what makes you a great.
Coach so coming up, next, though there's a quarterback competition
in The midwest that is almost going to be decided
(34:54):
before this feels, like before it even. Starts we'll get
to that just a. Minute martin Wyit Zach harper Five Sports.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
Radio you're listening To Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Radio coming to your live from The Fox sports radio
studios As Martin weiss And Zach, harper and we had
a troubling update in a quarterback competition as the news
broke On, friday And Anthony richardson was shuffering from soreness
in the shoulder that he had surgery on at twenty twenty.
(35:27):
Three i'm gonna Miss, hota he's gonna Miss Minnie. Camp
hopefully be back for training. Cam only, Problem, Zach he's
in the middle of a massive quarterback competition and this
is one of. Those, uh this is a. Competition there's
a fight between two kids with pool noodles here and.
Competition But Daniel jones just Shigned he's GOT i think
fourteen million guaranteed coming his way to be a member
(35:50):
of The napolis. Cult this might be over four it,
starts is it? Though, no It's Daniel, Jones.
Speaker 4 (35:58):
Like, LOOK i recognize That Anthony richardson has not had
a good start to his.
Speaker 2 (36:04):
Career, yes, RIGHT i don't think there's any seventeen games,
PLAYED i think in two seasons.
Speaker 4 (36:10):
And that and not exactly killing. It when he has
played right it.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Has it hasn't looked.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
Good BUT i am willing to go down with the ship.
Speaker 2 (36:22):
HERE i think he's.
Speaker 4 (36:24):
GOOD i think he needs to be healthy, obviously, SURE
i think he needs some.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
REPS i think.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
He's a good. QUARTERBACK i think he's got good. POTENTIAL
i think there's something there AND i think with the
right offensive line to, protect AND i think with the
right coaching to get everything with you, know organized and
moving forward and have weapons and, EVERYTHING i think there's
(36:50):
something there that at no, point even IF i thought
he didn't have the, POTENTIAL i think he has at
no point WHEN i look At Daniel jones Across that's
the way and, think, oh, oh his job's in. Trouble,
Now i'm with. YOU i do Think Daniel jones is
gonna win this job to start the. YEAR i think
all this is a, setback AND i, think, look anytime
(37:10):
it's your, shoulder that is.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
Troubling absolutely that is the. Quarterback, yeah that is absolutely.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
Troubling as long as he can get healthy at some
point early on in this, SEASON i think he will
take that job back because It's Daniel.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
Jones, NOW i agree with you in THAT i don't
think That Daniel jones is the highest bar to. Clear
Anthony richardson has the lowest completion percentage since he's coming
to THE nfl the quarterback with the next lowest completion,
Percentage Daniel, Jones so there's not the competition is not. High,
AGAIN i say it's two cheduled pool, noodles not. EXACTLY
(37:44):
m sixteen's shooting right around the corner at each. Other.
Right i'm with you on. That there's something. There that's
why you get picked fourth in the. Draft there's a.
Lot there's something there for, sure SUPER i, mean built
like a house on terms right, now much better athlete than.
Quarterback SO i think in your for you to be,
(38:05):
Right Daniel jones has to win this job Because Anthony
richardson has to, learn in my, opinion get a better
handle on some of the fundamentals.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
Of what being quarterback.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
Is, Agreed, yes like you got to be able to
get those five yard out ten yard. Outs you cannot
have a sub fifty completion. PERCENTAGE i don't care how
good you are. Running you, know if you had a
sub fifty completion percentage and you're built like, that you know,
what they call you a tight, end, Right and maybe
that's the.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
Answer you know What i'm.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Saying BUT i do think that for this to Work
Anthony richard needs to be on a practice squad to
be able to get as many reps as he. Can
AND i do think there's something. THERE i just don't
know if we'll ever be able to see. IT i
don't know if we'll AND i think that's a.
Speaker 4 (38:47):
Concern like there was one number that he had that
was good last year in the time he. Played it
was yards per per, completion, right had really good yards per.
Completion AND i do like some that can be you,
know yards after catching. Everything BUT i do think like
he is someone who can make big. Plays but to your,
(39:08):
point sometimes you just need the easy place.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
More often than. Not, yeah we're gonna need easy. Plays
But i'll say this About Anthony richardson that if he's
able to harness essentially what they saw coming out Of,
florida what we saw watching him At, florida because when
he put it all together At, florida it was not
a Like anthon Richards Big. Flord it's, like, oh this
is a. Project it Wasn't Will levis, right, right you
know What i'm, Saying like we was a. Project and
(39:33):
so if he could able to harness some of, THAT
i do think he's got the type of special athletic
ability that can raise you from average to. Great but
he's got to be able to get to average. First
Josh allen is that had a, slower a smaller hill to,
climb but he had to get to where he wasn't
making bone headed mistakes early in his. Career and you
(39:54):
see what came of it, Now Josh, ALLEN i THINK
i had it much, better as LIKE i, said much
smaller the mountain to. Climb Anthony, richardson to, me guy In,
indianapolis feels like if it's gonna happen for, him it's gonna.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
Happen for him on a second. Team and you just
can't be made of. Glass that's the biggest.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
Problem you.
Speaker 4 (40:10):
Can't you can't learn the fundamentals and do all these
things if you are getting hurt.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
Constantly that's absolutely. True and, HONESTLY i think a sleeper
For Anthony richardson next. Year we're gonna talk about them
in their quarterback situation coming up next because it's the newest,
edition but a really old.
Speaker 1 (40:24):
Guy you're listening To Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
Radio it's finally. Over thank, god the summer long saga
finally is finally. Done Martin wis And Zach harper coming
to you live from The Fox Sports radio studios on
A Fox sports A. Saturday Aaron rodgers finally flew Into
pittsburgh after many, delays signs a one, year thirteen point
(40:53):
six y five million dollar.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
Contract it's going back to the number.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Eight something tells me That Terry bradshaw would not given
that twelve up if you just pay attention to anything
To Terry bradshaw has been, saying and To Aaron rodgers's,
word he said he'd played for ten. Million that ten
million is what's. Guaranteed he's got incentives up to nineteen
and a half, million and again he's wearing number. Eight
and the question that our esteem, Producer Ian roddy has
(41:20):
put on the sheet of paper is Does Aaron rodgers
move the needle In?
Speaker 3 (41:24):
Pittsburgh, zach what is your needle reading of The steelers
at this?
Speaker 2 (41:29):
Moment this might be a dumb.
Speaker 4 (41:31):
Question are we sure he is significantly better Than Russell
wilson at this?
Speaker 2 (41:38):
Point you, KNOW i know the.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
Repue obviously his career is way, better and obviously you
know what he used to be is way. Better and
he had a decent year for The. Jets he wasn't.
BAD i just want is he significantly better than What
Russell wilson was last?
Speaker 2 (41:56):
YEAR i will SAY i think he's. Better the level
of significance to how much better is mitigated by the fact,
that like When Aaron rodgers news Broke Elon musk And
Donald trump got in a fight and it Became Aaron
rodgers just crying right, now like you know What i'm.
(42:18):
Saying so, like Is Aaron rodgers better at quarterback Than Russell?
Speaker 3 (42:23):
Wilson, yes, yes, Yes but is it so much better
that you want to be in?
Speaker 2 (42:29):
That you know WHAT i? Mean Like Russell wilson On
FRIDAY i cut the. Dound he was talking about how
y'all went out to dinner with the offensive lineman and
the quarterbacks and he just wants to be a leader
in every. Room Aaron rodgers a week ago was you,
KNOW i don't even get into.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
It but he was Doing he wasn't doing.
Speaker 2 (42:48):
That he was on some podcasts talking, about you know,
whatever the twenty twenty five version of Kem trail to Steel. Beams,
sure so is he? Better i'd say, Yes but AGAIN i,
said there's not that much more juice and that. Squeeze,
yeah and so all, right so he's. Better let's say
(43:11):
he plays the full, season which what is he forty? One,
yeah forty.
Speaker 3 (43:16):
Two he's forty one right. Now, yeah he's.
Speaker 4 (43:22):
Gonna turn forty two during the, season late in the Season.
DECEMBER i don't, know.
Speaker 2 (43:28):
Man, like that's that's old like like that's you, know,
honestly you, know just knocked up when they're when When
Leslie man And Catherine heigeler going to the club and
they See Craig robinson there and she's eight months pregnant
and he, goes y'all just too old and she starts.
(43:51):
Crying she's, no, no, no you're not too old for the.
World you're just too old for this, club right air
forty two years. Old you gotta you gotta hope at
least forty more of, them, right, YEAH i. Hope so,
yeah but a little old in his.
Speaker 4 (44:04):
Club but also ten, millions ten, millions so you know
up to nineteen if you know. Everything, yeah the incentives
look pretty. GOOD i, MEAN i think it's a good
signing if he's not a. Distraction it's a good. Signing
if he is at least as good as he was last.
Year it's a good signing if he's, healthy, Right, like
these are all good things for The steelers, team which
(44:27):
was still a pretty good team last, Year LIKE i
remember us talking, about like this was a pretty good
team made the, playoffs made the. PLAYOFFS i just don't,
know like in the in the hierarchy of THE, afc
will it be good enough to guarantee them the? Playoffs
which you can't really say that about a few, teams
(44:47):
right because because of where THE afc. Is but, LIKE
i think you make the signing, regardless because what was your?
ALTERNATIVE i think that's WHERE i land. On Aaron rodgers
has never been worse at quarterback than he has. Today,
Yes like this is the worst version Of Aaron rodgers
that you will get from age just do you? Know, kay,
whatever he'll never be worse than he is right, now
(45:11):
whatever you want to call.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
It so what is also true is that the worst
version Of Aaron rodgers THAT i can imagine is going
to be the best quarterback The steels.
Speaker 3 (45:26):
Have had in like the last five, years.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
Easily you know What i'm. Saying the worst version Of
Aaron RODGERS i can conjure up in my. Brain, now
maybe he'll come out and look Like Derek carthy and
maybe that'll. Be but the worst version THAT i can
physically actually imagine is still going to be the best
Quarterback pittsburgh has had in the last at least.
Speaker 4 (45:48):
Four, years because the alternatives Are Mason Rudolph, Stink Kirk.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
Cousins, sure, Yuck i'm, uninterested you know What i'm, Saying
like every other option is a bad, one, Right Aaron,
rodgers to be, clear would not qualify as a good.
Speaker 4 (46:06):
Option but in the land of bad, options he may
be the. Best, YEAH i think he's definitely the best
option of what's.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
Left so to answer your question of moving the, needle he,
DOES i will say he. DOES i don't know if
it's for the good reasons Side that remains to be.
Seen the ratings definitely go, up But i'd say in
terms of moving the, NEEDLE i think that absolutely. Not
(46:34):
this is the same story that we're going to, see
AND i think the best case, scenario The disney movie
ending of, this, right the feel good story ending of
this is the Seven seedstealers walk into like the like
Two SEED i don't know, whoever and up the Two
(46:58):
Seed ravens and upset them won a playoff game and
get their heads pounded to them By buffalo Or Kansas
city in the next. Round Mike tomlin can Leave, Pittsburgh
Aaron rodgers can go off a playoff game. Winner that
to me is the absolute top of the tower ceiling
for this and everything else is in play beneath. That
(47:21):
so to move the, needle if winning a playoff game
loves your, needle WHICH i think everybody In pittsburgh would
have a resounding.
Speaker 4 (47:26):
No do you Think Mike tomlin's excited about?
Speaker 2 (47:30):
THIS i? DO i, do because here's the thing in
a situation that the way The Pittsburgh stealers have operated
for this long entirety of, time it feels Like Mike
tomlin has way more saying. THINGS i think that In,
pittsburgh and like in the, facility this was a much
(47:52):
more foregone conclusion than we assumed in the media that
like it was LIKE i think that they the way they,
moved they knew this was. Happening, Yeah and so there
was no. Urgency there was no urgency, elsewhere and so
there was more urgency In cleveland surrounding the quarterback conversation
than there was In. Pittsburgh all that chador to nineteen
(48:12):
At pittsburgh was a media, creation as we saw in
THE Nfl. Draft SO i think he's excited because there's
so so many moments and you go back through primetime
games and Where rogers was playing The, steelers Where tomlin
give him a wink And rogers give him a wink
AND i got you, THERE i got you. THERE i
think that they. HAVE i think That Aaron, rodgers which
(48:34):
is the most important part of all of, this besides
on the personality side of, THINGS i Think Aaron rodgers
has a.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
Ton of respect For Mike.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
Tomlin, yes AND i think over anything that, matters because
a Guy Aaron rodgers will not allow himself to be
coached by somebody doesn't.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
Respect we've seen it happen In New. York we saw
it in the end In Green.
Speaker 2 (48:53):
BAY i think he will be allowed himself to be
coached By tomlin and that matters a. Lot does he
have enough respect For Mike tomlin to be a distraction
that can't promise THAT.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
I can't FROM i think he'll probably be doing mcafeel.
Speaker 4 (49:06):
Because he also probably doesn't think he's he's being a, distraction,
right there's a disconnect There.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
Yeah it's everybody else's fault that everybody cares about what
he's talking. About that's really what it boys down. To
we're all idiots for caring about What Aaron rodgers has to.
Say didn't you know what THAT i agree with that
we're on the same.
Speaker 8 (49:23):
Side, well, guys they're The steelers over under right. Now
he said it eight and a half, wins, okay and
that's actually the same as it was right before he.
Signed So vegas is telling you they don't think he
moves the.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
Needle he doesn't move the. Needle part of me THINK
i think That vegas baked that. IN i think that's something.
TOO i don't think that there was No there's no
way in my like The vegas THAT i know is
gonna have trouble even With tomlin's impeccable five hundred or
better in twenty.
Speaker 3 (49:53):
Years Mason rudolph though.
Speaker 4 (49:56):
THERE i think in eight and a half wins With
Mason rudolph and maybe Like.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
Mason rudolph could play four, games go two and, two
but seventeen games And Mason rudolph come, on bro and
whoever the backup is, again Like Skyler, THOMPSON i think
The Styler, Thompson Will, HOWARD i, think, Right?
Speaker 5 (50:13):
Will?
Speaker 2 (50:13):
Yeah, yeah like that that is a five win quarterback
room if they started any more than seven.
Speaker 8 (50:19):
Games so if their ceiling is say nine to ten,
wins would you then say that it was worth it
as a? Season like was the season? Successful or should
they just be trying to tank at this point and
try to get a?
Speaker 2 (50:31):
QUARTERBACK i don't have skin in the. Game i'm not
A Pittsburgh steelers. FAN i think it that would be.
SUCCESSFUL i think that if you ask people who actually
like Wore Pittsburgh steelers, jerseys they would say that would
be yet another disauccessful.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
Signing you set us back a.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
Year it's the. Worst what do you? Think?
Speaker 4 (50:48):
YEAH i don't Think steelers fans will look at that as.
SUCCESSFUL i think if, it if it feels better than last,
year they'll be. Happier but, NO i Think steelers fans
are are of the mindset like we should be competing for, championships.
Speaker 8 (51:02):
RIGHT i think they're probably pretty fed up with making
the playoffs every, year just not doing anything when you make, it.
Speaker 4 (51:08):
Right but would they be happier not making the playoffs
and just being kind of? Mediocre not saying happy.
Speaker 2 (51:16):
Not making the.
Speaker 8 (51:16):
Playoffs BUT i feel like if it sets you up
for future success to where you can actually win a
Super bowl in the near, FUTURE i think they'd be
willing to take a down.
Speaker 4 (51:25):
Year this is WHERE i think you have to just
bite the bullet and trade a bunch of future picks
to go move up in the draft that, too not
tank and just go do. That AND i get, it, like,
oh you can't do. That you can't mess up your
future and everything.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
You can go. Get you can go get picks. Now
draft draft. Room what's what's the twitter? Against say it
again at the draft. Room at the draft. Room this
guy is he'll watch. This Caleb, johnson the running back For.
Pittsburgh tell me what's what's his? Deal just like as a,
prospect as a prospect BECAUSE i have a further, point
(51:57):
BUT i BUT i know that's who they took him
in the third. Round.
Speaker 8 (52:00):
Here he's gonna be bodied, Runner he's got some lateral,
agility he's uh hard to, tackle got some receiving upside
out of the.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
Backfield SEE i LOVE i love the term receiving upside,
Right so he might be able to catch. Right SO
i say that because there's one team in THE, nfl
to my, KNOWLEDGE i, think just one that lost their
their leading pastor their leading receiver and the leading, rusher
The Pittsburgh. STEELERS i think that they upgraded at each
one of those. Positions they Lost Russell wilson Got Aaron. Rodgers,
(52:30):
again slide, upgrade but but upgrading one the least you'll
go viral more and that's maybe a, downside but upgrade
none the. LESS Dk metcalf is better Than George. Picking, absolutely, YEAH,
Dk he's just that's just flat to, me just flat
out and think it's. Close And George pick is probably
one of the most overrated players in THE.
Speaker 4 (52:46):
Nfl as someone who's had him on his fantasy team
for a couple of, YEARS i can agree tremendous.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Reputation far outstripped for actual. Production And Najie, harris to,
me is is very.
Speaker 4 (52:59):
APT i think he is like your replacement levels starting
Right johnson better than not.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
SO i think if you look at this, offense if
the offensive line is, PASSABLE i think they improved at
the number one in every. Position so but move the.
Needle did they improve so much that it matters passed
the wild card? Round not in my, opinion.
Speaker 4 (53:23):
Especially not With Kansas City, buffalo like you, said Even. Baltimore,
like all, right best case, scenario they go out and
beat one of those teams in the first round and
then get smacked in the second round by another one
of those. Teams, okay, MAYBE i mean maybe maybe if
you're A steelers, fan it is That baltimore. Scenario, okay
you Beat, baltimore you Beat Lamar, jackson you get smacked
(53:46):
in the second round by Say. Buffalo maybe you're okay
with that because you Beat. Baltimore, maybe BUT i think
your instinct on that was probably more.
Speaker 2 (53:54):
Correct. Maybe you, know we know That knicks fans were
not happy with This Conference finals. Appearance so much on
the fire the. Coach what will it take for them
to be happy next? Year and who's going to be
the guy to lead that? Charge Rick? Brunson is that
you father son coaching? DEAL i don't. Know nepotism runs
(54:15):
rampant in these in these. Sports will outline some of
the options coming up. Next Martin Weiss Is Zach. Harper
Fox Sports Radio saturday comes to your live from The
Fox Sports radio. Studios hit us with your two cents On.
Twitter i'm At Martin weiss Zach is At Tall hoops
and the internationals players, ANTHEM i choose you by outcast
(54:38):
playing right. Now it's exactly the opposite that happened at
the exit interviews for The New York nicks With Tom.
Tibodell it was a big. Party apparently most exit interviews
are one on one one guy the star and the you,
know the coach or general, manager and what'd you think
happened this?
Speaker 3 (54:55):
One they had a whole bunch of people and they
know what they, said.
Speaker 2 (55:00):
Throw them, out like the detergent With Tom, THIBODEAU i
do not choose you the mode.
Speaker 3 (55:10):
Metaphors The knicks decided to.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
Move on From Tom. Thibodeau they're head, coach and this
type of move that apparently, important according to the, reporting
was happening whether or not things went you, KNOW i
put it like, this they probably would have to really
go far to be able to, win for him to
be able to keep his job on me by far
(55:31):
like still playing, now they get they were pretty. Close
But Draymond green said, this AND i thought about it a.
Lot making the finals is not necessarily mean you are
a finals worthy, team Right and like just because you,
Won like you, know a lot of people will talk
about how you look at The Western, conference Maybe, minnesota Maybe,
denver maybe In Oklahoma, city all three better than you,
know saying would have Beaten New york if they had
(55:52):
gotten that. Far so you make this, move And i'll be,
honest none of the guys that are immediately jumping to
mind or interesting to me at all when you think of,
this are any of these guys The, vogels The Mike,
malones the.
Speaker 1 (56:14):
You name.
Speaker 3 (56:14):
Them i'm going to get the list in a.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
Moment any of these guys jumping out to you as
potential options? HERE i, think like you, Know, Vogel.
Speaker 4 (56:25):
We've done this, before right With, Vogel, Pacers, Lakers. Sons
he's a good defensive coach if you have good defensive. Personnel,
OKAY i don't think he's much of an offensive, coach
BUT i don't think they run much of an offensive system,
anyway or want to like it's kind of a lot
OF i run a little bit of pick and pop,
here a little bit of a pick and, Roll but
(56:45):
mostly this is gonna Be Jaylen brownson kind Of io
and Or Iso cat or Will i Sow. Og you,
know there's not a whole lot there in terms of system,
Anyway SO i don't know that he, would you, know
he'd be missing out on, much you, know with his.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
System Frank vogel right now sitting at eleven to one
in terms of the. Odds these odds are Per bobada Sports.
Books and, yeah who's Spors So Johnny bryant you talking
about him, Earlier, yeah he's the favorite of plus two.
Forty Kenny atkinson four to, One Mike budenholzer about nine
and a half to.
Speaker 4 (57:17):
One, Well kenny's under, contract, Man, like that's. Crazy i'm
just letting you know what the odds, are all right,
there all?
Speaker 2 (57:24):
Right you Got budenholzer at nine and a, Half Patrick,
ewings same, Story James, Rago Sam, cassel all of those
nine and a half to one right now again Along Patrick,
Ewing sam To.
Speaker 3 (57:36):
SELL i just said that, too all. Right Chris quinn
fourteen to.
Speaker 2 (57:39):
One that's been a long time assist In miami who
every single time a coaching vacancy opens, up he is
on this. List Jay wright ON tv right, now Former
villanova coach fourteen to.
Speaker 3 (57:50):
One Mark jackson off OF tv right.
Speaker 2 (57:52):
Now unless you watch that one commercial fourteen to, one
and Then mike D'Antoni twenty to. One, now, so out
of this, list does anybody here excite you at?
Speaker 4 (58:02):
All But rego's interesting because he's he's got a good offensive,
system and he's a well respected.
Speaker 2 (58:07):
Assistant he got a little bit of a of a.
TRY i think it was In. Charlotte it Wasn't, Charlotte,
yeah and that was The charlotte team that you. Watched
it were, terrible but every so often he'd be, like you,
know third, quarter they're not that.
Speaker 4 (58:17):
Bad, yeah exactly like they they. Were they just didn't
have a good, team right. Exactly so he was given
a tough, job but he was someone he was in
the running. For he was in the running for The
cavs job last. Year he's he's he could be a
really good. COACH i don't know if he's the type
of guy though that would necessarily command that locker room
the way that you would need him. To Johnny, brian
(58:42):
AS i said, Earlier i'm intrigued BY i think he
will be a good head, coach but, AGAIN i don't
know if he's going to run things on either end
of the. Floor, uh the way that they need it
BECAUSE i don't know what he's gonna.
Speaker 2 (58:54):
Run, Sure Jane wright's not gonna not gonna come coach The.
NICK i don't Think Jay writ's job right now is
so much easier than coaching The. Knicks and he gets
paid not about the. Same but would you make that
type of?
Speaker 3 (59:10):
Money, yeah he ain't doing.
Speaker 2 (59:12):
It did you?
Speaker 8 (59:12):
Guys see what he said when he was asked about?
Speaker 2 (59:14):
It, no what's?
Speaker 8 (59:14):
That he, Said, oh not another summer of?
Speaker 1 (59:16):
This.
Speaker 4 (59:17):
Exactly, ALSO i loved, when like earlier in the, week
Uh Rick patino came out and said he recused, himself,
like Oh liken't thank goodness That Rick patino's out of.
There he wasn't gonna coach The necks?
Speaker 2 (59:28):
Anyway what is?
Speaker 1 (59:29):
This eighty?
Speaker 2 (59:30):
Nine that was the one who, said not another summer of?
This Oh Dan, hurley should you know?
Speaker 8 (59:35):
What? Not?
Speaker 2 (59:35):
Right don't even get me, started because then he got
with that contract, extension.
Speaker 4 (59:39):
The guy that just used The lakers to get the
contract sentsion with you kind again second straight. Year that
guy that Did, hurley the one who just cried about
the transfer.
Speaker 2 (59:47):
Portal that's the. Problem he didn't win the championship this.
Year we can't get. Enough that's what it. Is it's
not another summer of a contract, extension just the, rumors no.
Speaker 4 (59:54):
Extension he saw that they weren't gonna win this, year
and all of a, sudden it's like this transfer portal
is out of.
Speaker 2 (59:58):
CONTROL i hate. This yeah here so, Yeah so to, me,
Though i'm looking at this again in these odds or you,
know they're obviously just out. HERE i don't know if
the answer is even in. Here Sam coulsell intrigues. Me
So sam is someone that like people respect as an assistant.
Coach obviously was a really good, player, Exactly but he's
(01:00:20):
interviewed a lot over the years and hasn't gotten a.
Job and it makes me, wonder is he just one
of the worst interviews for a coaching, position BECAUSE i
would think by now he would have gotten a. Position
he's been an assistant for a long time and.
Speaker 3 (01:00:35):
He's got do you think he has the? Cachet?
Speaker 4 (01:00:37):
Yeah LIKE i, mean and people regard him as a good.
Assistant he's not just on a coaching. Staff he's regarded
as a very good assistant.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
Coach hey he he says they interviewed for The lakers
job at some point in. Time, yeah like he's he
gets an interview every time there's one and open it
seems like BECAUSE i mean he's got a lot of
chips in the uh you, know it's what pelts on the. Wall,
yeah one that you he was on The docs bench
right when they won that. Championship he was On boston's
bench last. Year he's got he's got a lot of.
Speaker 4 (01:01:06):
Experience he won two championships with With. Houston you, know
it's a rookie in a in second year, Player LIKE i,
mean he's he's and he was as cerebral a point
guard as there is like HE i, mean he knew his.
Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
Stuff, yeah so that's that's the name that jumps out
of me BECAUSE i do think, THAT i mean The Budenholzer,
Vogel like at this point the shines off if there
ever was a.
Speaker 4 (01:01:29):
Show and, like, LOOK i do Think budenholzer is a
good regular season, coach but you have to get the
players to buy into his.
Speaker 2 (01:01:36):
System that team's not buying into a. System Yeah i'm
not buying that.
Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
Either and Then Chris, QUINN i don't, know that's another.
Speaker 4 (01:01:42):
Thing Like Johnny bryant regarded as a great assistant coach
prospect of like that guy will be a guy don't
know what he's gonna.
Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
Run so unless you're gonna like make a matchive swing
for a guy who's already under. Contract, YEAH i think
the idea That Sampy sell And Patrick greening had the
Same Odorn SAINT i would be betting On Sam Paseel
patrick Was knockingning out of this. Exactly that's What i'm,
saying and maybe that's the answer that none of these
guys are getting this job. Right there has been some
(01:02:10):
reporting about guys who are already under contract who were
not Named Kenny. Atkinson we will get to that coming
up in just the, moment but First steve De seger
will update us on everything going on in the world of.
Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
Sports, steve you're.
Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
Up hello.

always have instant access to Our Fox Sports radios videos on. YouTube,
Okay so When Kenny, atkinson like we talked about The
New York knicks head coach under contract currently and as
we as a reporter came, out you heard the Email
udoka also under? Contract how much to do you? Know
(01:05:38):
how much do time change for your? Boy? Email after
just what a few years? Ago he was.
Speaker 3 (01:05:45):
Radio active? Waste then he goes To houston and three, Seed,
hey you might want to come down. Anyway so he's
on the.
Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
List Jason kidd is on the, list and the one
that perked my name our ears immediately Was Jason. Kidd
and not even a two pie in the sky with
who they Might New york might acquire anything of that.
Nature there's too many aprons. INVOLVED i barely. COOK i
don't know anything about. It So i'm just gonna deal
with the roster that they currently. Have If I'm Jason
(01:06:14):
kidd and you tell, ME i could go To New
york and Leave, dallas tell me If i'm off on,
this BUT i Think i'll be on the first name
Smoking i'm.
Speaker 4 (01:06:27):
Gone so the drawback is that that media and that
pressure is. Real sure that is that is, tough and
it's not That Jason kidd would be afraid of. It
it's just there's a hassle in dealing with that that
is not there In. Dallas at the same, time he
(01:06:49):
is currently tied To Nico, harrison and whether it is
his fault or, not there are a lot of people
In dallas that think that he is a big part
of that That luca.
Speaker 2 (01:06:59):
Trade and there at the point that the Slim. Charles
if it's a, lie we're gonna fight on that lie.
Exactly it doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (01:07:05):
Exactly and so, again whether that's true or, not that
is there are enough people that, there and especially in
terms of the fan base WHERE i, like it wouldn't
shock me if he doesn't want to be tied to,
that you, know and so if he, decided you, know
if he talks to The knicks and he, decides, yeah
you know WHAT i, Do, LIKE i do want to
Coach Jalen brunson, again this version Of Jalen. Brunson, Absolutely,
(01:07:29):
YEAH i can do some things with this. TEAM i
managed a good enough defense With luca in the, mix
LIKE i. CAN i can make something work. HERE i
do think he's a good. COACH i think he's become
a good. COACH i think that, stint that short stint
with The lakers as an assistant really helped turn things.
AROUND i think he's done a good job In. Dallas
it's not just that they made the. FINALS i think
he's legitimately done a good job with like adjustments and defensive,
(01:07:52):
stuff and you, know when given the right, PERSONNEL i
think their offense has been pretty. Solid, LIKE i don't
think he's a great. COACH i think he's a good
coach there and and when he was In, brooklyn when
he's In milwaukee was not a GOOD i think. Too
some of that was maturity is the wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
Term but to your point about The lakers, STINT i
think it also really helped him to go To dallas
that had at the time a very very prominent Vocal Mark,
cuban who was the final say of. Things it seemed
like in The milwaukee And brooklyn there was a kind
of game of thrones around the. Top he saw POTENTIALLY
(01:08:28):
i can get into some of, this and maybe the
basketball suffered as a result of that not being focused
enough on, it or you, know maybe he just got
better as a coach as time.
Speaker 3 (01:08:37):
Progressed BUT i say.
Speaker 2 (01:08:38):
That we didn't see some of that In. Dallas but
he honestly maybe regretting right now because.
Speaker 4 (01:08:45):
Yeah and HE i, mean and he's look and he
was when he was In, milwaukee he was running some really,
basic rudimentary stuff both in some, floor. RIGHT i think
he's learned as a coach how to kind of extrapolate some,
system some stuff and build and everything and create some
nuance there within what he asked the team to do
(01:09:05):
on both ends of the. Floor and that's the thing,
is like we always talk about the development of players
and all this. Stuff coaches development. Too oh, Yeah like
coaches development is a real thing and we've seen it
a lot and it's part of the Reason Tom thibodau
has been such a frustrating thing for people is and
it's actually the interesting is like when he was In,
chicago this was all defense all the, time and their offense.
Speaker 3 (01:09:27):
Sucked, Yep disnick's had a flame they were flame.
Speaker 4 (01:09:29):
Throwers minnesota. Too his team In minnesota couldn't defend at.
All that was like when the year they made the,
playoffs which is the first year since like two thousand and,
four that team was fourth in THE nba in, Offense
like you would never think that About Tom thibodau. Team,
sure and so things kind of, switched and some of that's,
personnel but what like, whatever like they Switch Jason, KIDD
(01:09:50):
i do think like he has developed into a much
better coach on both ends of the. Floor, now whether
or not that personnel In New york would match what
he would want to, DO i have some questions about,
that BUT i don't think it's a bad. Idea the
problem is to get a coach that is under, contract
you have to give something up in a trade that
is typically a first round. Pick they have one that
(01:10:14):
they can, deal that's the twenty thirty two first round.
Pick i'm guessing it would have to be. Unprotected and
to now have zero first round picks that you can
move at any point if you want to make a, Move.
Speaker 2 (01:10:25):
Yeah you're. OUT i get, that you're out Of, luke,
Right but, yeah that's pint of the reason Why i'm,
like let's just assume that this is the. Roster, yeah
because there's got he's gonna cloth to get, him.
Speaker 4 (01:10:35):
And all this idea of, like, oh well they may
be in THE gi honest with.
Speaker 2 (01:10:38):
What, yeah that's. PART i didn't want to go all
the way, there BECAUSE i do think it is, fascinating
Especially i'd reminded recently of the How gianni's Called Jason,
kidd and then also too That gianni's was not on
the ball nearly as much Before Jason kid got. THERE i,
mean rudimentary, short but also you know sometimes the, Development,
yeah give the ball to our best player all the
time and see what. Happens a lot of, times good things.
(01:11:00):
Do BUT i just keep going back to watching that
press conference With Nico harrison saying defense wins championships And
Jason kidd looking like he was in a hostage.
Speaker 3 (01:11:12):
Situation he was the hostage, like he looked.
Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
Miserable he went out there and answered those questions and
took those, bullets AND I i put it like, THIS
i don't know how many basketball people could have been
consulted on that, trade like because of this the nature
of THE, nba, right we didn't hear a look about.
THAT i was on the radio forty five minutes before it.
(01:11:38):
Happened there was not a single itch that that was gonna.
Happen then all of a, sudden it, happens and we
think it's. Fake we didn't hear anything about. It so
how MANY nba people really knew about it? Beforehand because
it would have got the shams or to you or
to somebody whose job it is to put this stuff out.
THERE i don't think That Jason kidd knew about this
(01:12:00):
until at least the eleventh. Hour like the like the
glass slipper was right, There Jason kidd was, LIKE i
Guess i'll put.
Speaker 4 (01:12:06):
It on you know What i'm SAYING i don't doubt
that he And nico had conversations About. Luca of, course
what can we do with this? Guy he won't do,
this he won't do, that. WHATEVER i don't doubt those. Conversations.
Absolutely there's a difference between that and we're gonna trade
him For Anthony. Davis, yeah you're in a, relationship you
work on.
Speaker 2 (01:12:22):
Things, Yeah i'm not blocking a number just because you
know you didn't take the trash. OUT i. Will but
so with all of, that knowing That Jason kidd at
a certain points in time his career wanted more, Power
he's not gonna have it In New, york but at
least there may be a level of more communication between
He Worldwide west And Leon rose than it would. Be
(01:12:43):
but BECAUSE i don't think there was zero come, shake you,
know communication about, that you, know and league altering move,
Right it's not like we're talking about do you want
us to sign this guy to attend day or that
guy to attend? Day, Right this is massive, change and
so that's what made me think, that you know, WHAT
i think it could get.
Speaker 3 (01:13:04):
DONE i THINK i Think Dad kid probably walking around.
Speaker 2 (01:13:06):
Like middle finger to, You, nico get me out of.
Speaker 4 (01:13:08):
Here AND i think if you, do like you could
really Talk dallas into that twenty thirty two pick for you,
know unprotected From New, york that could be worth something.
Big so, yeah that could, Absolutely like you don't know,
what you don't know if this nick seem is gonna
be good in three. Years and that's not a knock on,
Them it's just this stuff changes so much that in
(01:13:28):
twenty thirty, two you you deal a pick that far
down the, road that's a valuable.
Speaker 2 (01:13:32):
ASSET i mean here in The, East Staston tatum got you,
know Bum wheel And, ACHILLES i Mean Donovan mitchell and
Means caves how you feel about, them BUT i mean
the super highway to THE Nba finals in The Eastern,
conference if you can get that thing. Together coming up,
next guilty or non, Guilty i'll explain. Next Martin Wife
(01:13:54):
Zach harper coming to you live from The Fox Sports radio.
Studios you can hit us up On twitter with your two.
Cents i'm At Martin, Weiss zach is At Talk. Hoops
coming up in just a, Minute i'm gonna tell you
Why Bo jackson can inform what is wrong with THE nba.
Today we'll do that in about forty. Minutes xactly what
(01:14:15):
are you talking? About, yeah what you're TALKING i know
that's you, know that's a good. TEASE i got it for, you.
Speaker 3 (01:14:20):
Buddy i'm gonna tell you and you, know about the
end of, this you're gonna be, like.
Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
Golly, gee he's. Right they steal.
Speaker 8 (01:14:26):
This but for, now it's not for sports, court all,
right the sports. Court this is only our second time
whipping this game, Out So, zach you've been here for
both of.
Speaker 2 (01:14:35):
Them so.
Speaker 8 (01:14:36):
Congratulations Uh, so just to refresh you guys and the
listeners on the rules. Here the way it works, Is
i've brought a number of gentlemen from around the sports
world to the Sports court and they're on, trial and
you guys are gonna tell me whether they are guilty
or not. Guilty and if you say not, guilty you
gotta tell me who is. Guilty all right, it let's jump.
(01:14:56):
In first, Up Derrick henry stands.
Speaker 2 (01:14:59):
Accused.
Speaker 8 (01:15:00):
Now Adam sandler reportedly offered a movie role To Derrick
henry if The ravens running back can rush for two
thousand yards this, season only if you guys have done
that IN nfl, history by the, Way So Derrick henry
guilty or not.
Speaker 2 (01:15:12):
Guilty i'm gonna go not GUILTYNC eh pop. Out Anthony
edwards was in An Adam sandler movie and he didn't
do nearly the equivalent of rush for two thousand. Yards
and the reason this all came about is because he
was On Dan patrick right And Dan patrick told.
Speaker 3 (01:15:32):
Him he was, Like i'm a fan of.
Speaker 2 (01:15:33):
It two thousand yards is a pretty hard high bar to,
climb And i'm the Biggest Anthony edwards fan you'll. Find
But anthony rads that go close to what the ever
of THE nba equivalent is a two thousand yards of a.
Speaker 4 (01:15:43):
Season disagree because if you make The Minnesota timberwolves relevant
for good, reasons that is way harder than rushing for
two thousand. Yards did he come short of two thousand?
Speaker 8 (01:15:54):
Yards he has rushed for two thousand yards? Before, yeah but,
no but he he short this.
Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
Year that's. Guilty? Guilty, yeah he had. One you had
an extra?
Speaker 1 (01:16:07):
Game book, Him book him all?
Speaker 8 (01:16:11):
Right next Up adam sand Or Adam Adam? Silver getting them? Confused,
There Adam silver guilty. Keys THE nba fans all over
the country have taking to social media to complain about
the lack of, production value and overall aura of THIS Nba.
Finals so they cite things like how the court used
to have an actual finals trophy on it and there
would just be a whole spectacle of the actual event.
Itself not the case this. Year So Adam, silver guilty
(01:16:34):
or not, guilty?
Speaker 4 (01:16:35):
Guilty book. Him this is so frustrating to. Me we
didn't see the player, intros we didn't see the national.
Anthem we don't see anything on the court that were,
like think about THE Nba. Cup you can't even look
at the.
Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
Court it is so.
Speaker 4 (01:16:51):
Blinding i've seen more blue courts in red courts than
my my rods and, cones and my eyes can handle
so much so THAT i had to look up parts
of the eyeball to know WHAT i. Was what was
he an assaulted my cornea? Hurt, yes guilty beyond like
show me the trophy on the. Court he did that.
Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
Exactly i'm saying guilty as. Well because here's the THING
i grew like when we grew up on this, Stuff
WHEN i was a, kid falling in love with this
stuff and crying one of my favorite players would lose
and chanting like Jump as a kid in the, WORDS
i had no dog in a. Fight there was AN
nba was million miles. Away it was In.
Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
Atlanta that was the CLOSEST nba team UNTIL i was growing.
Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
Up AND i was locked in because of the production,
value because of the, story because Of bob Coff to saying.
Speaker 3 (01:17:41):
It's Michael, Jordan it's The Utah jazz nineteen ninety.
Speaker 2 (01:17:45):
Eight Pump, pump, pump. Right because of all of, THAT
i will say this, Though i'm kind of appreciative that
this is what it, is because if THE Nba finals
starts to look at the n season, tournament you might
lose me. Forever you just might lose me for you
just need a trophy on the. Floor but they've gone
way too far to the. Left now just go back
to two thousand and, one take a picture and recreate
(01:18:08):
it all.
Speaker 8 (01:18:09):
Right next, Up terry McLaurin stands. Accused. Now Jordan schultz
reported a few days ago The commander's wide. Out terry
McLaurin has grown frustrated with the team over the lack
of progress on a long term. Extension So terry, McLaurin
guilty or not, Guilty not guilty to, me not guilty
to me.
Speaker 2 (01:18:28):
Too so we've all. Agreed i'll go ahead and take
it right. Now terry McLaurin was the only reason anybody
was going To Washington commanders games FROM covid to. Now All,
RIGHT i Like terry McLaurin. Is he is NOT i would,
say a tier one. Guy he's Not, jefferson he's Not.
Chase but you know, WHAT i put him right there
(01:18:49):
up there with Aman, Ross Saint brown and the likes of. That,
LIKE i think he may not be a tier one
when you're ranking, everybody but he's a number one on your.
Team he got a rookie wide. Receiver pay the, man
get him in can. Up what are we doing.
Speaker 4 (01:19:01):
Thirteen tuddies last? Year that's good.
Speaker 2 (01:19:03):
Enough pay. HIM i.
Speaker 8 (01:19:05):
Mean it's also the fact that they have a rookie.
Quarterback Jadon daniel is a second year.
Speaker 2 (01:19:10):
Quarterback but second year but at this, point, yeah, second
it's about time to keep this thing.
Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
Roll this is the first we've seen of. This, like
let's keep it going In.
Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
Washington the last time you felt was good about your,
Team Taylor heineken with.
Speaker 8 (01:19:21):
The, quarterback all, right one more we got time for really.
Quick James cook stands accused another contract dispute here with The.
Bills James, cook running back has basically disconnected himself from the.
Organization Adam schefter, Reports, So James, cook guilty or not, guilty.
Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
Not, guilty he should have at least five more touchdowns
a year that gets taken from him By Josh. Allen if,
not he'd be right there at the top of the.
Market guilty, man running backs are. Replaceable going, again he's guilty. Now,
HONESTLY i think about that With saquan And James, cook
this touch, PUSH i would be suing THE.
Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
Nfl my stats will be way higher To.
Speaker 2 (01:19:56):
Tusch what are we? Doing quarterbacks seeks they can. HELP
i gotta push this. Guy don't come on, now pay.
Speaker 1 (01:20:01):
Me don't listening To Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:20:05):
Radio that's why they're broadcasting live on From Fox Sports
radio studios on A Fox Sports, saturday in Between games
one and two of THE Nba, finals waiting desperately For
game two.
Speaker 3 (01:20:17):
Start i'll tell you What lebron had, Suggested.
Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
Zach then maybe they should take a month off between
the playoffs and the regular.
Speaker 3 (01:20:23):
Season i'm here to tell YOU i think that's a terrible.
Speaker 2 (01:20:25):
Idea in, fact take less time off because it feels
like it's been forever since game one. Ended, yeah LIKE
i don't.
Speaker 4 (01:20:31):
Think, LOOK i know this is probably this is A tv, thing, Right,
yes they don't want a game On. Saturday they want
a game On.
Speaker 2 (01:20:37):
Sunday. Yeah, Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (01:20:40):
When we're not traveling between, games it's it's one one night.
Off that's what it's gotta.
Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
Be because the travel Between Oklahoma city And indiana without
it's gotta be less than a three hour. Flow oh for.
Sure BUT i, understand, like, look we gotta oh you
literally not traveling between games one and.
Speaker 4 (01:20:57):
Two got, Yeah Like i'm, yeah we're not traveling to
one and. Right so all, right he had a game On.
Thursday i'm, sorry you got a game On saturday and
then you got a game On. Saturday you're traveling To
indianapolis for for the next. Game, okay we'll give You
Sunday monday, off but you gotta Play. Tuesday like that's
what the schedule should.
Speaker 2 (01:21:13):
Be you.
Speaker 4 (01:21:14):
Know i'm sick of The, look this is my issue
with THE nba and this ratings talk and. Everything Adam
silver was asked about. IT i believe ON fs. One oh,
yeah this past, week, right Breakfast ball on Breakfast, ball
and he starts like talking about, like, oh if it Was, Steelers,
packers we'll gon't be talking about small markets blah blah
for The Super bowl and.
Speaker 2 (01:21:33):
Everything my issue is with. That what's? That why are
you praising THE nfl when asked about your? LEAGUE i
you know WHAT i would. Do let me. Be let
me let's role. Play, Okay i'll Be Craig carton Or Danny,
parkins you pick o think And.
Speaker 4 (01:21:50):
I'll Be Adam Silver and you asked me about the Ratings.
Speaker 2 (01:21:52):
Talk Commissioner Adam. Telbyn we got a opalem With Steddy
Man indiana in the. FINALS i tell, you there's the
forty seventh largest market in the fifty sixth largest. Market,
uh you should probably just cash it because nobody's gonna watch. It,
Right that Was.
Speaker 4 (01:22:05):
Carton imagine that this piece of paper is one of
those those guns that shoots money out of. It, Okay
i'm gonna just fire some money into the air and
Say i'm. SORRY i couldn't hear you Because i'm still
thinking about that seventy six billion dollar DEAL i just
negotiated for the, league when ALL i heard about for
the last four years is how bad the league is
in shape because of the?
Speaker 2 (01:22:24):
Ratings what are you? Like you know what you should be?
Speaker 4 (01:22:27):
Doing, hey you should be watching Shake gilgers alexand he's THE.
Mvp no one could guard. Him Tyre's holliburn's most clutch
player in the. League he's he's led a team to
the to THE Nba. Finals if you can't sell, that
you shouldn't be talking. About, OH i really wish people would.
WATCH i really wish. THIS i really, Said, oh you,
know THE nfl does such a great job sell your.
(01:22:48):
League why are you selling another?
Speaker 2 (01:22:50):
League So silver was on on The herd earlier in the,
season uh huh and was asked similar question and had
a similar. Response AND i thought that at that, time
this is Pre luca, trade this is Pre Jimmy butler.
Trade this is everybody's going mo the, ratings. RIGHT i
(01:23:12):
thought it was a prescient point to make that if
the Super bowl is Between baltimore And, seattle guess what
they're gonna hold.
Speaker 3 (01:23:19):
It everybody's gonna and you, know we'll be happy about.
Speaker 2 (01:23:22):
It but that's the Super. Bowl But i'm just but
from At game, twenty having that perspective on THE nba,
Finals i'm with. You in THE Nba, Finals i'm also with,
you LIKE i don't like the idea of like we're
not we shouldn't be comparing right. Now we have actual
stories that are happening in this league today At game,
(01:23:44):
TWENTY i get the, comparison you know What i'm, Saying
but after In game ninety five or, whatever we are
now like, postseason we should be talking about what's going
on in the postseason in in this league because like
What haliburton is doing, historic What Shake Kills alexander is,
doing while not appealing to my, eye also still. Historic
(01:24:04):
that's the. Thing sell your, League and that's the, like
that's the issue with THE. Nba it's not, ratings it's
selling your. League as. THIS i have a theory this
might be too out for, radio so be. Ready, whoa,
whoa maybe this might be a fourth. Work it does,
Okay BUT i think THAT i had a funny thought
(01:24:28):
game one BECAUSE i really think one of the things
that actually impacts ratings is, politics like things that are
like everything, ELSE i think is kind of a built
in the times that we are, Now LIKE i don't
think that will not there will not be hell EVERYBODY
i know watching the game online that that that literally
does not count to. Ratings AND i think that's the
(01:24:48):
majority of people that usually discussing the game are not
necessarily watching it, on you, know in the in the
traditional ways that ratings are. Measured i'll put it like, That.
Speaker 3 (01:24:59):
BUT I i think that the entire conversation ABOUT nba,
ratings which if you look at THE nfl, ratings they
have to Client Major League baseball ratings they have the.
Speaker 2 (01:25:07):
Client the entire conversation ABOUT nba ratings is a dishonest
one because it started and the thing THAT i thought
you were going to initially with the silver. Things it
is the first Time i'd ever heard him actually come
out and say. It but he's, like why do people
care about our? Ratings and nobody else's, sure and it's
all starts from the bubble twenty, Twenty Jacob blake the
(01:25:30):
protests all in The George floyd and the cottage industry
of blaming the NBA's ratings on the fact that they
Were the ratings were down in THE nba DURING.
Speaker 3 (01:25:44):
Covid because people did not want to.
Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
Take in what was deemed to be a liberal. Product
when ratings everywhere were down across every single. Thing and
so WHEN i laughed WHEN i thought WHEN i Saw
game one happening the same day That alon And trump broke,
up BECAUSE i felt like this actually could impact the
ratings of.
Speaker 3 (01:26:05):
Games, sure because like right, now we're the people.
Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
Who are WATCHING tv are literally making decision DO i
Watch haliburton VERSUS, Sga DO i Watch trump Versus?
Speaker 9 (01:26:13):
Musk but on a standard daily, basis you know what
happened earlier this year in. Election that's why THE nba
ratings are. Down you make a trade For, luka, doncis
you make a Trade Jimmy. Butler all of a, sudden
The warriors And lakers have. Life you know what nobody cares?
About too many?
Speaker 2 (01:26:25):
Threes, exactly nobody. Cares no one's talking about how nobody's.
Watching and to the point of sell your, lead it's not,
HARD i promise it's. Not On it drives me, nuts
and it's actually we'll talk about it in the next
segment of one of the.
Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
THINGS i think the impact of, that but in here On.
Speaker 2 (01:26:44):
Game, two particularly whether or not four million people watch
it or twelve million people watch, it we will be
two of that, number, Yes and what do you think
How the better question almost is how do you phrase,
this Does Oklahoma city need to bounce? Act Does indiana
need to keep the foot on the? Gas like when
you watch, this if you're producing this, show how would
(01:27:06):
you phrase the question that we need to be?
Speaker 4 (01:27:08):
DISCUSSING i would, say how Does Oklahoma city shut the?
Speaker 2 (01:27:14):
Door?
Speaker 4 (01:27:14):
Okay because they led for forty seven minutes fifty nine
second fifty nine point seven, seconds, yep or at least
you know there were some ties in. There But indiana
only led for zero point three seconds a second and they.
Speaker 2 (01:27:31):
Won and you look at the.
Speaker 4 (01:27:34):
Numbers The thunder took twenty more shots in the, paint
fourteen more shots inside of four, Feet they took more free,
throws they filed three fewer. Times they had a fifteen
point lead in the fourth. Quarter they forced twenty five
turnovers to a team that does not turn the ball.
Over this Isn't, minnesota this is you, Know indiana does
not turn the ball. Over they forced twenty five nineteen
(01:27:56):
turnovers in the first. Half to Get Tyrese haliburn to
turn the ball over three, times will be like somebody
else turns it over nine. Times, yeah his sister turnover
rats like seven to. One, Yeah, LIKE i, mean he
takes care of the ball better than. Anybody, so but
the problem is with those twenty five, turnovers they didn't
score off. Them they were going into that, game they
(01:28:17):
were abation about twenty four points off of turnovers from their, opponents,
right they converted those twenty five turnovers into eleven. Points
that is a crazy low.
Speaker 2 (01:28:29):
Number like that's like getting thirty first downs and only
scoring three points. Exactly like this just from what the
way you measure, this it just doesn't make. Sense so
just off the, top all. Right SO i know that
this is a lot of. People there's probably a lot
easier for other people than this for. Me but don't, worry,
Guys i'm here for us non calculator. Folk, yeah twenty five. Turnovers,
yeah if you just hit layup on all of, those
(01:28:51):
that's fifty.
Speaker 3 (01:28:51):
Points that's fifty. Right, yeah so to get, eleven but
you hit.
Speaker 2 (01:28:56):
One free throw off all, those, right they even one
free throw twenty five, exactly so. ELEVEN i don't know
that people talk about the best offenses in THE nba are,
like well like one point three four points per.
Speaker 3 (01:29:08):
Possession that's gotta be.
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
Like there's one point oh oh whatever point per.
Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
Possession that's.
Speaker 2 (01:29:13):
Crazy, yeah it's it's so.
Speaker 4 (01:29:14):
Low and so you're not going to turn them over
twenty five times in a game, again, right like you just.
Not so when you do turn them, over whether it's, ten,
twelve fifteen, times how do you turn that into twenty plus?
Points that's how you have to do. IT a couple
of those turnovers they would turn, over they'd turn right
back To, indiana, right you can't do. That you have
(01:29:36):
to get out and. Run they can't defend the three
the way they. Did gave up way too many left corner.
Threes and In, indiana you, know aside from, That Miles
turner banked in three from the left.
Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
Side that was when it was, like uh oh, yeah
that's when it's get a little. Worried.
Speaker 4 (01:29:54):
Right but aside from that, ONE i thought the three
point defense was pretty. Poor and then you gotta get check.
Going you gotta Ge Jalen williams, Going AND i would
try that. Early you, KNOW i as good As shaye,
was AND i don't have any problems with the way
shape played in that. GAME i think he played a
pretty much flawless game Like. Peebore oh he shot too.
Much now in fourteen to thirty got to the thruth
(01:30:14):
to the line eight, times had thirty eight. POINTS i
didn't turn the ball. OVER i also think there could
be an argument like you should have shot.
Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
More, yeah LIKE i think that it's. AMPRESSION i didn't
feel that WHEN i was, Watching BUT i look back
at the. BOX i looked at how nobody else did.
Anything maybe you shoot thirty seven things as to.
Speaker 4 (01:30:29):
Win and it also he hits that final shot they
win the, game, right they go up, three they start
playing the foul game of like they foul when they're up,
three so you can't get a three point, Shot like
we're gonna extend that game and it's gonna be, painstaking
but they usually win that. Game so like they the
everything was set up for The thunder to. Win they
almost always win that. Game SO i don't know that
you need to change a whole. Lot you just got
(01:30:51):
to shut the, door which is really hard Against. Indiana,
now if You're, indiana you have to make some. Adjustments
can't turn the ball. Over you've got to defend the,
paint win. Better even though you know The thunder missed
a lot of shots in the, paint you gotta defend
the paint way. Better and you got to get and
run because they. Didn't they didn't really. Run but that's
hard to do against the. Thunder, yeah SO i actually
short At. Halliburton my. Bad it's nine to. One this
(01:31:15):
is the turn Of. Rigion that's seven to. One if
you are three to, one then you're killing. Store you're
killing it this regular. Season it's been nine to one this.
Postseason nine to, two not, ten you know.
Speaker 2 (01:31:28):
One good for, you buddy. Salute Maybe i'm wrong about
this whole superstar, deal BUT i think with This the
REASON i asked that is because OBVIOUSLY i consume a
lot of this type of, stuff AND i saw a
lot of the framework of the question being what Is
indian and need to do to keep this? Going or
what Does okay she needs to do to bounce. BACK
(01:31:50):
i think you framed it. PERFECTLY i don't Think okay
she Needs they could do nothing different except for make your. Layups,
yeah and then you're in a Good then this is
a ten point, margin, yeah and not to get Two,
Vegacy BUT i think that's why you see a ten
point in to what ten and a half For game
one line and it's right there again For game, two
(01:32:10):
if they just make, LAYUPS i think it's an entirely
different scenario. NOW i think also what could be interesting
About that's the reason WHY i kind of bounced the
conversation of twenty eleven finals earlier verse the Just iverson
step over was a two thousand and one. One, yeah,
okay so two thousand eve vers two thousand and one
where you had the extras and o's of The mavericks
(01:32:32):
and eleven and The lakers just you, know you Had
iverson incredible performance in the fourth quarter of that game
to get that game one, win and then you saw
zilts from the rest of. It was in part Because
i'm looking at the way that the thunder just did
not take advantage of the things that they have consistently
taken advantage, of and wondering how much did that lineup
(01:32:55):
change mentally, Impact like we talked about, It carlisle and
saying The pacers we have a feeling where we got them. Scared,
yeah how much did it impact when you're missing all
of those, layups all of those bunnies that it almost my,
instinct as a guy who has never played a competitive
(01:33:16):
moment of basketball that anybody cared. About is that this
feels like the moment could be too. Big you, say,
Check Jay dubb got to step? Up is the moment too?
Big and this is a team that they've had their
lumps in the, playoffs but, like.
Speaker 1 (01:33:29):
Not at this.
Speaker 2 (01:33:29):
Stage, no not at the. Stage.
Speaker 4 (01:33:32):
NO i, MEAN i do think it's fair to wonder
if the moment was too big for, them wasn't too
big For. Shae shae was great THAT i don't do
even that misclutch. SHOT i don't think you can then
go oh he, Choked like, no he did. Enough he
did enough to win that. Game like everyone else needs
to step. Up everyone who was not Named shaye shot
thirty six point seven percent from the.
Speaker 2 (01:33:51):
Field that's.
Speaker 4 (01:33:52):
Horrible like everyone else literally needs to step. Up AND
i think part of the game plan From indiana was all,
right we're gonna eat about forty points From. Shay we're
gonna try to shut everybody else, down WHICH i think
is a good. STRETCH i, agree IT'S i, think AND
i think that that's what it really reminded me.
Speaker 2 (01:34:08):
Of you have to REMIND i think it was a
game five Of Thunder timberwolves that was a very Close timberwolves.
Win was That game five Or game, four whichever one it.
Was shay had like fifty some point went. Off, yeah
and But jade McDaniels and And Neil Keelexanther walker And Don,
davis all these guys are hitting these open threes and
(01:34:28):
and had a decent game that game Of Memory. Sharves
but it was all of these extra that Was game,
Four game. Four the others were all the ones that
were hitting their. Shots it's kind of the FEELING i
had Watching. Indiana it's, LIKE i don't know If i'm
counting on fifteen from what we topping from the bench.
Speaker 3 (01:34:43):
Exactly, yeah BUT i do have all, right this is
a final wrinkle.
Speaker 2 (01:34:47):
THAT i feel. LIKE i don't know if anybody's talked
about it or, not BUT i find it. Fascinating we
talk about all summer how these international teams have this
cohesion and they because they all play together all the.
Speaker 4 (01:34:58):
Time and that's why TuS, say might be at risk
here except talent, still, right which is ultimately why we
have stuff curiys, Right BUT.
Speaker 2 (01:35:09):
I do wonder AND i thought about. It it hit
me last series as Nem, haar As, Nikole Alexander walker
And alexander were playing at each. Other they've guarded each other, Forever, yes,
right Them hard And matherin have played with tort And
(01:35:31):
sga so, much according to the way that everybody talked
about it the, summertime WHEN i Saw nemhar guarding him
one on, One it's, like, hmm this is interesting BECAUSE
i bet those guys have played ones more than you
know What i'm, saying that those guys have been in
that exact scenario so much over the off seasons of
their careers that maybe Them hard knew that IF i
(01:35:53):
do this, pound but IF i hit him with this
move at the hardened move basically that he's gonna bite
And i'm gonna be open And i'm gonna dot him
in the.
Speaker 4 (01:36:01):
EYE i also, think, Respectfully Andrew nemhart is a crazy
person where he's just LIKE i got this and maybe
he's about To Leroy.
Speaker 3 (01:36:07):
Jenkins the better example is on the defensive.
Speaker 4 (01:36:10):
Side, yeah that's WHERE i THINK i think Them hart
is is WHERE i think most defenders are afraid of
Defending shae for various. Reasons some of it's to, whistle
some of it's just, LIKE i, mean he's got every
move in the. Book he's so calm. EVERYTHING i don't
Think nemhart is affected by any of. THAT i think
he knows he's gonna give up. Points BUT i think
he's very comfortable Defending, shae whether he gets scored on or.
Speaker 2 (01:36:33):
Not did my big thing if you can keep show
off the free throw. Line it's key free Throw and
it's also those free, throws especially in the first second.
Quarter it's very much Like Derrick henry where those three
yard runs they add up.
Speaker 3 (01:36:47):
Yea and by the time two thousand. Yards but but
by the time the fourth.
Speaker 2 (01:36:51):
Quarter, Comes Will blackman told me, This i'll never forget.
It he, Said, bro by the fourth, QUARTER i can't
feel my left.
Speaker 3 (01:36:56):
SHOULDER i don't want to hit him.
Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
Anymore i've been hitting him for three. Quarters it. Hurts
you know What i'm.
Speaker 4 (01:37:01):
SAYING i wouldnt want to hit him in the firs.
Quarter but do you know What i'm.
Speaker 2 (01:37:03):
Saying, SO i think that when you See shay walking
into wide open seventeen footers in That Western conference, finals
because IF i fouled him, Again i'm gonna be so
mad at. Myself, yes that is just hard to moralize
it all, right coming up, Next i'll explain why what
Bo jackson has to do with THIS nba. Playoffs you,
(01:37:23):
LOOK i, know it's, weird it's. Wacky it'll all make.
Speaker 3 (01:37:27):
Sense Martin Wis's Zach Harper Fox Sports Radio.

Talk football here, too but it Also Talk hoops as.
Well So Steve hartman was talking about this earlier, today
(01:38:14):
and all you gotta do is put a quarter in
the man and he'll tell you all the stories about
His raiders times when he was back there With Al
davis and his, heyday. Right, Sure so he was telling
the story today about How Bo jackson and was drafted
by The. Raiders nobody expected, it and it made me realize,
something made me think about, something and it really put
a pin on a thought THAT i had had Watching
(01:38:35):
Jason tatum celebrate the most RECENT nba. Championship he was
ridiculed after winning this thing because he almost did a
highlight reel of everybody else's. Celebrations it was, awful, RIGHT i,
think just off the top of my, head we saw
The kobe cradle and the, Shower we saw the anything
as possible from kg on the.
Speaker 3 (01:38:57):
Court what do you have any others that just pop?
AGAINST i guess we'll.
Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
Never, know right, Again so a ton of these, moments
and it's been something that we've seen more and more
and more, of even going back to jobs not finished
and when you're, in when you have a three to one, lead,
right all of those moments were iconic moments done by
others That Jason tatum then kind of mimicked What i'm
(01:39:25):
and when he Said Bo jackson, today it made me,
realize Like Bo jackson is a guy that when you
look at either one of his individual Careers Major League, BASEBALL,
nfl he's not even sometimes all are very good in
either one of them when you look at, that but
he's undeniable that he had a major impact on the.
(01:39:47):
Sport and big part of it Was Bo knows the
marketing campaign behind because we're seeing things LIKE i astactly
Remember Bo. JACKSON i will never forget watching him snap
the bat over his, Knee. Guig we have memories Of
Bo jackson and his, greatness but at no point was
(01:40:09):
he the best player in the. League and no point
was he he maybe barely a point was he the
best player at this.
Speaker 3 (01:40:16):
Position but you know What Bo jackson was and is
to this.
Speaker 2 (01:40:20):
Day even with the dot there hunting deer with his
bow and, arrow Bo jackson was cool as. Hell Bo
jackson was cool as, hell and a part of the
reason why was because of the bow nos. Campaign AND
i think that you you've touched on this in the last,
Segment adam's over talking about THE Nba in a moment like,
(01:40:41):
THIS nba marketing from both its league, partners its shoe
partners in the league itself is a such a it's
it's just it's at a big time. Low It's adam
won't say an all time, low but it. Is it
is in a, valley.
Speaker 4 (01:41:00):
Right we have peaks of. Valleys that's in a, valley.
Right and to, me WHEN i watch, this you Have Tyrese.
Halibert no matter how you.
Speaker 2 (01:41:10):
Feel about, him he should be making you feel.
Speaker 3 (01:41:13):
Something he's over there doing The Sam.
Speaker 2 (01:41:16):
Cassell he's over there doing the. Choke he's over there
doing all of. This and so to, ME i want
to ask you this on the other side of this,
break the other time we can go To steve will come.
BACK i want to ask you WHICH nba players have
like he, Said tyree, SAID i don't want to do
it again because they Said i'd be or farming when
(01:41:36):
it comes to the.
Speaker 3 (01:41:37):
CHOKE i get. THAT i think he has LEGITIMATE i knew.
Speaker 4 (01:41:40):
THAT i knew that explained to, me BUT i did
ONCE i once it was explained What Aura farming, was
THEN i didn't you guns still struggle with. That that
team manager from McNee.
Speaker 2 (01:41:50):
State i'm with. You i'm with you one hundred percent
BECAUSE i also struggle with the. Concept BUT i was
told that my thought wasn't, cool. Right what makes a guy?
Cool alan. Cool And i've been told now that the
what makes cool is Now. Aura SO i in the perfect,
world the perfect, setup which of these players should we
(01:42:10):
be pushing to?
Speaker 3 (01:42:11):
Me Tyre's halliburton is at the.
Speaker 2 (01:42:12):
Top i'm gonna get your answer coming up after, This but,
First steve De seger with everything trending around the world of,
Sports Steve, Europe.

three legs of The Triple.
Speaker 2 (01:44:10):
Crown this.
Speaker 6 (01:44:11):

Eliminated auburn four to.
Speaker 2 (01:44:45):
One back to, you, Thanks.
Speaker 3 (01:44:47):
Steve just like, journalism working triple shift can't win.
Speaker 2 (01:44:51):
Anything it just sounds so. Right this is where we. Are,
yeah this is where we are off announcing around the.
Country hopefully we're. Safe, anyway back to the, conversation AND
i wanted to put a pin on it before WE
i get to the bottom of, it BECAUSE i think
this has been brewing for a, while the lack of
(01:45:12):
cool in THE. Nba, yes and if you go back
TO i know a lot of people have beef with
The Bubble finals saying it wasn't. REAL i contend that
had any team but The lakers And Lebron james, wanted
it would have been just as real as any other.
Finals but, sure either, Way i'll try that as my
line of demarcation and maybe it helped my. Argument yanna
say to The Kopo, FINALS mvp twenty twenty one decidedly not.
Speaker 3 (01:45:34):
Cool great basketball, Player, yeah makes that jokes.
Speaker 2 (01:45:38):
Consistently, yes, Right Nicole jokics one of the best we've
Ever sorry Skip Steph. Curry Steph Curry, FINALS mvp should be.
Cool should be cool in terms of, marketing like the
marketing of him should be cool because he's that great
of a. Player but when you really boil it, down
if you're looking at the cool factor Of Steph curry
as a role As chapmans trips and does not the,
(01:45:59):
course there's no way that's an. Out there's no. Way all, right,
Anyway Steph, curry somebody should be, cool, right but has
kind of been more on the nerdy side of. Things
this is not a referendum on the. Game game is. Incredible,
no But i'm talking about under arms your. Shoe, yeah
you're you're at The Benton boone. Concert, no that's you
know WHAT i, Mean, LIKE i know Who Benton boone
(01:46:21):
is AND i kind of meant To i'm gonna talk
to right, right but like the idea that he's out
There moonbeam Ice cream speaks to my. Point Nicola, jokic
one of the best of this generation has zero interest
in being cool at. All does that make him? Cool?
Though maybe if he didn't have the Action i'm not
(01:46:41):
even trying to be, jingoistic but maybe if he was
more of an like maybe if you if we could
relate to it a little bit. More, Yeah Jalen brown
has is shown that he'd much rather be, nerd and
Then Jason tatum did what he did after that, final
so there was no cool to be, had, Right and
so NOW i think we are at an apex Of
it's been five years Since cool won the, finals you
(01:47:03):
know What i'm, Saying and even before, then it Was
KAWHI KD. Kd at that, point very online that was
the tweeting Was. COOL i think that was, well but
it wasn't regarded then as.
Speaker 4 (01:47:13):
Cool it was regarded as, sad whereas now since then
it has turned into something that people now.
Speaker 2 (01:47:19):
EMBRACE i think also to what happened is some of the,
olders the elders have either grown out or we grew
up into the. Business. Boy we're, like you, know we've
tweeted all the. Time it makes perfect sense For katie
to have A twitter and deal with, it like you
know What i'm saying as we you, know, SO i
think that the attitude on that changed a. Bit but
to that, point do you do you agree with What
(01:47:39):
i'm saying here in that If i'm a, KID i
don't know whose.
Speaker 3 (01:47:42):
POSTER i have on the wall BECAUSE i Had Allen
iris's post on the. WALL i had run our test
poster on the.
Speaker 2 (01:47:47):
Wall you know What i'm. SAYING i didn't have like
The Kobe bryant and the which on the. Poster but
that's WHAT i was the fan Of Randy, moss like
the guys who were a little Bit, yeah you know
What i'm, saying just because those are the guys that
threw me To Sean kemp Jay. Will, yeah you can't
tell me that's not having a massive impact on the
white people view THE. Nba.
Speaker 4 (01:48:08):
Yeah AND i think part of that is it became
it became cool or whatever to like not, care, right
to actively not be. AFFECTED i should, say not that not,
care but not be, affect n, bothered unbothered, right WHICH
i think is so corny as like just an, idea
and so that THAT i think has affected the generation
(01:48:29):
where like the all, right they can't be bothered by,
anything whereas if, you if you do show, emotion Like
Anthony edwards decidedly, cool absolutely decidedly, cool because he shows
a personality and in such a there's such a dearth
of personality now in THE, nba which is it didn't
used to be that. Way it didn't used to be that.
(01:48:50):
Way it used to be there was almost too much personality,
everywhere and so now he is.
Speaker 2 (01:48:55):
Dress code so, On Like David stern is, like this
is exactly THE lea except for the, rating except for
the ratings and so if you looking at like the,
options there's not that. Many LIKE i would, Say shay not.
Cool AND i know he gets some, circles like some
some buzz in the fashion world of it, all BUT i.
Speaker 3 (01:49:15):
Agree i've seen.
Speaker 2 (01:49:17):
The bit about his aura this year AND i just
never got. It i'm with, you.
Speaker 4 (01:49:20):
Guys look go look up His instagram captions where he's
trying to like spit bars or what it's.
Speaker 2 (01:49:25):
Not it doesn't.
Speaker 4 (01:49:26):
Work okay clearly listens To drake and part of it.
Speaker 2 (01:49:30):
Too with The shay, THING i think back to the
damn difference between, bowls old commercials and whatever the hell
him and Chet holgrid do on at AND t Every
march THAT i don't blame them for. Though that's that's
just bad, marketing bad. Commercials BUT i think it all
is symptoms of the, disease, yes for. Sure but the
(01:49:50):
problem with that Is shay's, GAME i would. ARGUE i
know people focus on like the foul stuff when he's
not doing. That it's very.
Speaker 4 (01:49:57):
Is he's a bad. Man he like he's got a crazy.
Handle he's a crazy shot. MAKER i, mean he is
fun to watch to, me he's fun to. WATCH i
do get sick of some of the foul stuff from
time to, time but for the most, PART i love
watching him kill. Guy, yes like he so it should be,
marketable it should Be tyrese is, LIKE i guess.
Speaker 2 (01:50:18):
This is what we.
Speaker 4 (01:50:20):
HAVE i, mean if we go back to the team
manager of McNee, state, Sure tyrese is a cool Nerd
he talks. Trash he's a nerdy. Dude there was just
like a social media. Thing compared him to When Steve
rkle would play basketball right like he just had.
Speaker 2 (01:50:35):
Like HE i Love, hanny like love the trash.
Speaker 4 (01:50:38):
Talk where after he eliminated The, knicks he put out
like a social media video of just his highlights against
The knicks with with you know fifty CENT i Run
New york like that whole, thing LIKE i get THE
I Get money, song like like he like he gets.
Speaker 2 (01:50:52):
It he gets what that.
Speaker 4 (01:50:53):
Is and it's NOT i would, say it's not in
a corny. Way it's a nerdy, way but it's not
a corny. Way but if you're looking at guys who
can win titles and and and be that, PERSON i
would Say Jalen brunson is cool because he doesn't really
have that have a personality.
Speaker 2 (01:51:09):
In that way, too especially In New york where it's
hard just about.
Speaker 4 (01:51:13):
The, business, Right like the job is the. JOB i
think that's, Cool, like but there's not a ton of
dudes that that really do fit that.
Speaker 2 (01:51:22):
Mold AND i don't know what you do with, that
like to Even.
Speaker 4 (01:51:26):
Webby wenby's a nerd and and And wenby's kind of
corny in the sense of like he's trying to be
existential AND i get it like, that like that's maybe
A french. THING i don't, know not you, know not
trying to be like xenophobic, here but like like he
comes from a very different culture and he's trying to
be you, know he's talking about like the wasteland that
Is Las vegas and, everything and AND i don't doubt
(01:51:48):
that this is his real, personality but like we're not
going to embrace that to.
Speaker 2 (01:51:52):
The point of AND I i hear you, say not
trying to be. XENOPHOBIC i do think that there is
something too The american versus international, players and it is
not has nothing to do with toughness or. Anything it is.
Attitude and the thing THAT i will point to every
(01:52:13):
point in time, is you, know who's cool who's. International
luca Freaking danta just about to, say because you know
why he's cool, though because he walks on the court
and he will cuts you out in three different. Languages
you will let you know exactly how he feels about.
You and As, americans that is what we are looking,
for we want to. Know to your point about being,
(01:52:34):
Unbothered luca is, bothered all, Right Anthony edwards is. Bothered
Tyre's halliburton is bothered in, there and that's in their own.
Ways like the unbothered was, like you don't want to
seem like what the kids now will call you, Know
i'm not crashing. Out there is a space between crashing
out and letting everybody Know i'm. Him AND i think
(01:52:54):
that when you look at how, like that's a big
reason WHY i wanted The timberwolves to make the, PLAYOFFS
i mean make the finals as a guy who had
no big rooting interest outside of being An Anthony edwards.
Speaker 3 (01:53:05):
Fan is because you had WHAT.
Speaker 2 (01:53:07):
I would call on a VERY pg, level a private
school versus public school attitude With Anthony edwards Versus Tyrees.
Haliburton but both of those guys have huge personalities and
it would shine through whereas The thunder are very spursy
in that we are actively trying not to tell you
anything and are proud of. It AND i get that
(01:53:27):
that works for, them but for the league in, GENERAL
i hate.
Speaker 4 (01:53:29):
It but it's interesting too Because i've seen so many,
people like people in, basketball people like friends of mine
that are that don't have it rooting interests against. Them
throughout this, run have been, LIKE i don't like That thunder,
team and they can't really figure out. Why And i'm trying,
to you, KNOW i wrote about the other, day But
i'm trying to figure it, out and they're, like, yeah
some of it's A seattle. Thing some of it, is
like we find them. CORNY i don't like the draft.
(01:53:52):
Picks you know how many draft picks they? HAVE i
don't like you know what do they else say say
LIKE i don't like, that you, know the whistle That
shay gin, so the whistle that they get or, whatever
like they. Like there's all these, reasons but there's no
real reason to not like this. Team and, yet you,
know some of, it say they do that interview, together
the silent interview, together that's a part of the corniness or.
(01:54:13):
Whatever BUT i find it interesting that they're not embraced
because if you think about, it it is a young
team with THE mvp who's, unguardable with a lot of you,
know a lot of young stars in the making that
play great on both ends of the.
Speaker 2 (01:54:27):
Floor everything that we talk about in sports of what
you want to build up is right, there and yet they.
Don't they're not embraced outside Of, okay see my. TAKE
i think that legitimately personality, wise they're freaking. Boring and that's.
Why and in the world where not cool to your
point and the like watching them, play, sure everything else.
(01:54:50):
Snooze everything else is a snooze to the fact that
ten out of the TWENTY nba fans have no idea
who that coaches right, right and and uh and to
that point is just in the world where everything is pro,
wrestling like more and more and more and more things
seem to be going in pro wrestling's.
Speaker 3 (01:55:08):
Way it's like nobody has time for this humble nature of.
Speaker 2 (01:55:11):
THINGS i want to see you talking To Adam sandler
SAYING i will rush for two thousand yards to put

host By Zach, harper Meinow assien And Anthony, mays which
is trying to ascertain whether the movies you actually love
are good or. BAD i just butchered, That but, no
that's pretty. Close it's pretty. Close so the idea That
(01:56:34):
Adam sandler will Put Derek henry in a movie THAT
i imagine hits a little different For Zach, harper because
that is a movie, that without ever seeing, it knowing,
it knowing anything about, it it would once definitely qualify FOR.
Centopho if It's Adam, sandler it definitely will exactly. So
and the qualifications for a centifol movie are under forty.
Percent Rotten tomatoes are viewers.
Speaker 4 (01:56:55):
For the audience or the critics score of.
