Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
All right, it's the Monkey Office back. Well, we'll get
to that in just about a minute. Good morning, everybody.
You know you waited seven days for this. This is
it Fox Football Sunday.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
Right here.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
He's Bucky Brooks and Andy Furman and we're broadcasting live
from the Fox Sports Radio studios.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
And away we go.

Speaker 2 (00:19):
And my partner, my friend, mister Football, I call him
mister Football.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Bucky Brooks. How are you, Buck?

Speaker 4 (00:24):
I'm great? Andy? What's going on? How you doing?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
You sound great? You look even better.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
And you know what, we have to introduce our executive producer,
Brianna because she has a great idea for as Bucky.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
So, Brianna, how are you today?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Good morning guys, Hi, good morning. You had a wonderful
idea for as Bucky. You know I am not smart
enough to think about that, and you told that to us,
and you know, tell the whole world.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
What you'd like to do for as Bucky.

Speaker 5 (00:47):
Ah, I was just going to open it up to
our listeners that can go ahead and tweet or call
in and either one. If they're really good, we'll go
ahead and answer it on the air.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
Sounds great and we use your account, your aunt. Sure, Okay,
this way you'll know the questions and you'll have them.
You could ask Bucky and say who is from?

Speaker 5 (01:06):
Yeah, they could do at the Fox Sports Radio or
at Bredonis twenty six.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
There we go, all right, and hopefully we'll get everybody
involved because I think a lot of people want to
ask Bucky questions. Now, we would be very remiss Bucky
Brooks if we didn't at least.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
Touch on this.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
I know it was a big football day college yesterday.
We'll get to that, but I want to talk a
little bit about the mess that happened at the Ryder's Cup,
at the Rider Cup. I mean, how could first of all,
why on God's green Earth where they even having a
BEF page New York with those low life New Yorkers.
And I could say that from my heart of hearts
because I used to live there and I know that
way those people lok. They think they're funny, they think

(01:42):
they're funny. When Rory McElroy had a shout an F
bomb in the direction of fans and spectators to get
the heckless off his back, I think it's disgusting in
the game of golf, in the game of golf. No less,
I'm going crazy. What's the world coming to? Did you
hear about that?

Speaker 6 (01:58):
I'm not surprised. I understand how uh Rackus beth AG's
black can be. I'm not surprised about the decorum. I mean,
the fans today, like they always are, over the line,
is just different.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Seeing it in the sport of golf.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
It's amazing, you know.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
I think fans right now think that the event is
about them. They want to be part of the event.
Go there, have a little decorum. Watch the game now. Now,
we saw that in the WNBA when they're throwing out
six toys on the court. Okay, we see it back
in the day when they used to streak during baseball games.
Calm down, you know. And I don't think it's the alcohol.
You know, they blame it on the alcohol for a.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Long long time. I don't think it's the alcohol.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
I just think people are crazy and very brazen right now,
and they think they could do whatever the heck they
want to do.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
That's basically what it's all about.

Speaker 6 (02:47):
Well you know, yeah, I mean yeah, no, it's it's
frustrating and aggravating because fans have made themselves a part
of the event. Even though it's a player sport and
and golf, you have a set of rules and expected
behavior from the crowd. Look, man, it's disrespectful. It's disrespectful

(03:08):
the people that are playing and those things. Now, I
will say players have to have a little tougher skin.
You can't be bothered by all of that stuff in
the environment. You have to be able to play through it.
But in a sport where that is not the norm,
I can't see how it'd be frustrating.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
I'm with you right there. Okay, we're gonna move on
right now. I want to go back to college football
yesterday big day. And here's the problem I have. Okay,
I don't know if my brain power could connect digest
everything going on. I honestly believe there are too many
games in one day. Maybe I'm crazy. I can't multitask.
And there was some great games yesterday, including that Penn

(03:47):
State Oregon game that was a tremendous game. But do
you want to flick back to LSU. Then you got Alabama, Georgie,
you got all these games on there. I have always
believed in the theory less is more. Now, what do
the networks expect?

Speaker 4 (04:02):
You know?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
When they put all these games on and one day,
you know, everybody cannot watch them. And my feeling is this,
I don't think people really tune on.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Their best game of the day to watch.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
I think they tune on a their favorite team or
be their alma mater. If a guy's a graduate of
the Naval Academy, he's gonna watch Navy on TV.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
I'm a fan of Deon Sanders.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Okay, I stand up late last night to watch Colorado
lose to BYU.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
All Right.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
I don't think there was a tremendous audience for that game, perhaps,
but I watched that. I think people kind of assume
that they're going to watch the games of their choice.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Well maybe the games that they wager on. Maybe that's it.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
But to have all these games in one time, I
can't see it. I mean, how do you handle that?

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Buck?

Speaker 3 (04:48):
How do you do it?

Speaker 6 (04:51):
Let's see, So yesterday I was traveling, but there were
games that I wanted to make sure I paid attention to,
and in order I wanted to see old miss l
s U. Because everyone talks about LSU's quarterback Garrett, and
that's my being a potential dude. I wanted to see
Alabama Georgia just because that is a big game. There's

(05:12):
always pros in that game. I wanted to check out
Penn State Oregon because to me, that was the game
of the day, and then late night it was BYU
Colorado just because of the intrigue in terms of how
the Buffaloes were gonna either bounce back handle BYU, play
without Shador and Travis all that other stuff.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
So I had a list of games that I wanted
to watch. I paid attention to.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
The scores to know everything that's going on. But I'm
a look, I'm a football fanatic. I'm a junkie. So
anything that is on. I watched East Carolina Army on
Thursday night. If it's on, I'm watching.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
So you watched it over the NFL game.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
I did, I'm not. I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
I didn't see a little bit to note Your Dame
Arkansas yesterday. I say what Notre Dame was gonna do?
Because I think they have a national follow up.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
Yeah they beat him, but yeah, and they hammered they
hammered him. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (06:06):
So if it's a good game, I'm gonna watch it.
If there's an intrigue, a storyline in those things. I'm
gonna pay attention. It's kind of funny you brought up Navy.
I'm a closet Army fan. I love how Army plays,
Munket and those guys, so I look out. I watched
them on Thursday over the NFL game. Yeah, but college
football to me is where it's at.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
I would I love it too.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
And let's get into the game of the day with
Penn State playing Oregon and it was an overtime game
and double overtime game, and they lose thirty twenty four,
and the story of the game is I talk about
getting the monkey off his back. James Franklin right now
is two and twenty one against ap top six opponents
and they had this. Okay, that's the second worst mark

(06:50):
by any coach in FBS history, And it's unbelievable because
really and truly, James Franklin is truly one of the
most successful coaches in college football in the last five
ten years. It really has been. I gotta ask you this,
what is the problem that he can't get it done?

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Now?

Speaker 2 (07:07):
I'm trying to digest this and see why he is
two and twenty one. And I looked at the schedule.
You're not gonna get you the best effort for your
team against a big time opponent like Oregon when you're
playing Villanova. They played Villanova several weeks ago. You know,
Villanova to me is like an intramural team. I'm sorry,
I'm sorry, Wildcat fans. That's the way it is. I

(07:28):
don't think Penn State should be playing Villanova. I don't
think it does any good for you, except you know,
it's a false hope. It's fool's gold. You know, these
players leave that game trouncing a school that really and truly,
you know, the nation doesn't even think they have a
football team. I don't even know when they play their games.
I don't think they have a football stadium. So I
think that's part of the reason. But you got to

(07:49):
tell me while why James Franklin, a good coach, a
real good coach, can't get over the hump two and
twenty one against these big name schools.

Speaker 6 (07:58):
Well, I would ask everybody how many of those games
games has his team been favored over those schools?

Speaker 4 (08:03):
Like how many times has he had the best squad
on the field?

Speaker 6 (08:07):
Because everyone brings up that stat and I always find
it funny, right, like he's tooing whatever against these top
six teams. But what you're talking about is a top
six team, one of the best teams in the country.
How many times has he had a team that is
the favorite in those games? Because if you're telling me
that he's had the favorite in the majority of games,
then I would say it's a problem. But if you're

(08:27):
the underdog playing number one, two, three in the country,
you're not supposed to win those games. Watching the game
last night, I can't say that was James Franklin thought
that Penn State came up short. Penn State battle back
from a seventeen to three score, tied it up. It
was seventeen. Yeah, it was seventeen to seven. It goes

(08:49):
into overtime. Look, they have to give up a player
on fourth down for Oregon to send it into the thing. Look,
I don't know what he can do. He takes the loss,
but I can't say that that's his fault. And without
breaking down all tho those games, I think sometimes we
have to remember one where Penn State was when he

(09:11):
took it over, to how he's built it back all.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
The way up, And sometimes you just know you're gonna
fall short.

Speaker 6 (09:17):
I mean, Ohio State has been a powerhouse his entire
time being.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Get Penn State.

Speaker 6 (09:25):
Ohio State and Michigan have been the two powerhouses in
the Big Ten. Unfortunately, he's in a conference where he
has to play a heavyweight as part of his schedule.
I mean, that's part of the deal. He can't win
them all, but I do know I have seen them
come increasingly more competitive with those teams. The talent that
they have is NFL quality talent. They just have to

(09:45):
figure out a way to win it. And if I'm him, man,
you just have to keep swinging. Everyone is going him
a hard time.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
Until he wins those games because they're.

Speaker 6 (09:55):
Gonna say, oh, he's not an X and OS guy,
he's a recruiter, He's a mo molevated guy. He's not
the guy that can get on the board and figure
it out. I just think that for Penn State, who
is parentially a top ten team, this is the best
run that Penn State has ever had, even in the
Joe pi era, in terms of being in the mix.

Speaker 4 (10:14):
He just has to keep swinging and at some point here, doctor.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Dordow, no doubt about that. I will tell you this much.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
For a guy who gets that kind of halo over
his head that two and twenty win agains the top
six opponents, he doesn't get that much heat. I don't
hear fans booing when Penn State plays. I think that
they they know he's done the best they can. But
you you get close and personal with these coaches. You
know these guys, and you played the game. So I
got to ask you this. When Penn State lines up

(10:40):
against the top six opponent, is this something that goes
through the coach's mind. Does he say this to his
team before the games? They hey, guys, you know we
haven't done well against these opponents to do this. Does
he get tight does he get a tight butt against
these schools?

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Or its business as usual?

Speaker 2 (10:56):
Because sometimes is there something in the back of your
mind knowing like, oh oh, here we go again.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
I can't get over the hump.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
I got this problem beating these big time opponents down
now Penn State right now with the College football playoffs,
they still got a shot.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
There's no doubt about that. They got a shot.

Speaker 2 (11:11):
But they have to beat now Indiana or Ohio State
or both on the road this year. Indiana could be
a possibility Ohio State and Columbus.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
I say that's a no no.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
Well, I mean I say that's a no no. I mean,
how many teams are gonat Ohio State in general? Who
has been beating Ohio State in the last couple of years,
Like it's been Michigan and then last year Oregon beat them.
But most of the time Ohio State runs through the
Big Ten because they've owned the conference.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
I would say.

Speaker 6 (11:38):
Indiana should be a game where when we look at them,
that is a game where no matter what Indiana's record is,
Penn State has a better roster. So if he falls
short against Indiana, then you have conversations about.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Man, what's going on there. But in these games.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
Where you're the underdog or the roster is I mean
it's for bowler clothes, but everyone will say that Ohio
State has the better roster.

Speaker 4 (12:04):
You gotta win the games that you're supposed to win.

Speaker 6 (12:07):
You got to win the games that you're even and
then on occasion he has to snatch down someone who's better.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
He does need to win those games. I'm not saying
that Penn State.

Speaker 6 (12:16):
Should settle or be okay with not winning those games,
but when.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
I hear that stat top six is different.

Speaker 6 (12:24):
If you're telling me they're not beating any top twenty teams,
top six, you're talking.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
About the elite of the elites, of knocking those teams down.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
Yeah, I'm not here to damage James frank I think
it's one heck of a coach and I think that
what he is doing.

Speaker 6 (12:39):
No, but look it's a reasonable thing. I mean, this
is what this is what we do. But I would
say maybe the difference is same thing Ole Miss and
Lane Kiffin. I don't know what Lane Kiffin's record is
against top five, top six teams, but it is ole
Miss is not regarded as the best team in the conference.

(13:00):
But if they're snatching down guys and James Franklin, who
is in the regarded as the best team in the
Big Ten, and they're not, then you have the issue.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
And the only reason I bring up.

Speaker 6 (13:10):
Lane Kiffin is because Lane Kiffin against LSU didn't have
the best thing. But what he was able to do
is take a quarterback from Farris State an offense, some wizardry,
make it happen, and he found a way to pull
it off. Great coaches can't do that. Now, I'm not
gonna sit here and say that he is a great coach.
But what I can say he's a great program builder.

(13:31):
At the end of the day, though, when you get
between the lines and you talk about being a tactician,
a schemer and all that, maybe he does fall short
of some of his contemporaries and maybe that's what's holding
Penn State back. But he's really good coach. That program
is in good hands. It's just mattered. They got to
win some of these games, and last night that was
there for them to win it.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Yeah, just to make the play the winner.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
Right, I mean, just an interception. It happens.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
I mean, it's just I mean, hey, I watched that game,
and you know, I'm amazed of not the fact that
they lost, not the way they lost.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
It was a great game.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
I'm amazed that one hundred and eleven thousand people got
to University Park, Pennsylvania to see that game. I don't think.
I don't think the population of University Park is one
hundred and eleven thousand.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Really, you know, I'm.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Amazed because you know, I live in an area in
the Midwest where football is king. It really is, and
maybe eighty to one hundred miles from where I live.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
It's Ohio State, which is unbelievable.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
But in my area, the University of Cincinnati, if they
get twenty thousand people's they call it a day.

Speaker 3 (14:34):
It's great.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
So it's amazing, And I guess competition has a lot
to do with it in the marketplace. I mean Cincinnati
has you know, a couple of pro teams, got a
pro soccer team, got a couple of different college basketball
team's Division one. So I think the entertainment dollar is stretched.
But you go to a city, like a college town
like University Park or Norman, Oklahoma, that's the only show
in town. One hundred eleven thousand people. I mean, I

(14:57):
can't fathom that one hundred and eleven thousand people. I
mean they had the TV showing the pen around the panel,
not around a shot of the stadium. It was amazing,
it really was. It's a beautiful site. The college football
is great. I mean, you talk about super Bowl, super Bowl,
so it's got one hundred eleven thousand people.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
No, but.

Speaker 6 (15:20):
Look, man, they love their ball And when you looked
at it, I don't know how you couldn't come away
from looking at the white out and Penn STATEIU and
not be excited about playing in that kind of environment.
And I'm gonna say this because Dan Lanning is I
would say I have a bit of a love hate
relationship with Dan Lanning in terms of just from afar.

(15:42):
I don't know him personally, but I love the energy
and the passion that he brings. I love the different
motivational tactics that he uses to get his team up.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
I love how he runs to.

Speaker 6 (15:55):
The roar of the line, is unafraid of maybe being
even a little Chippyon edgy. But I will say that
he is someone who does love the camera and he
does play further whatever. And so when he makes these
viral clicks like he did with Diana a couple of
years about playing for clicks and all that. Like, he
is a little bit of a showman when it comes

(16:18):
to it. But he has a really good team. He's
a really good coach. He's done a great job taking
Oregon to the next level after Mario Cristobal, and they're
forced and he has to get the monkey off his
back of just getting them to play their best in
the playoffs when it's money time. He has to get
the Ducks to show up. But man, they're a really
really good football.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
Team, no doubt about that. Then you talk about the
Big Tens about Ohio State. I thought that Washington game
because Ohio State would be a little close to twenty
four to six.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
They'll talk to o Ryan Day.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
You talk about records, Ryan Day now is forty nine
to zero against Big ten opponents, not County, Michigan, o Oregon.
I mean, it's unbelievable. I mean what they did. They
just bottled up Washington, a Washington home winning streak that
hadn't lost a game at home since the start of
twenty twenty two. They had twenty two straight home wins.
This the Ohio State team is like a machine right now.

(17:09):
But I guess it's the best team money could buy.
That's it now.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
I was gonna say that.

Speaker 6 (17:14):
I was gonna say, like, I mean, how many times
have Ohio State walked into the field and had the
lesser team?

Speaker 4 (17:23):
Rarely?

Speaker 6 (17:24):
But what I would give him credit for doing. They
don't lose the teams that they're supposed to be.

Speaker 4 (17:31):
It is rare.

Speaker 6 (17:32):
You bring out that record, the fact that a guy
who is in charge of eighteen to twenty two year
olds can keep them locked in and focused, regardless who
they're playing that they find a way to get a W.
That's the biggest credit that you have to give Ryan
Day that, yeah, I may have the best team, but
typically I had the best team playing at his best

(17:54):
whenever we put the ball out right.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
No, no, I'm going to run this by it right now.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
You talk about coaches and how good they will talk
James Franklin and Ryan Day.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
What about Vanderbilt.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
I mean, no one's told they're under the radar, really
and I know they played Utah State yesterday, but they
beat him pretty well fifty five thirty five. But Vandy's
five and zero. And more than that, they're talking about Indiana.
Last year they said Indiana was a joke. Indiana didn't
deserve to go to the playoffs. Right now, Indiana's undefeated still.
So he's got something cooking over there in Bloomington as well.

Speaker 4 (18:22):
Uh yeah, let's talk about any Vanderbilt.

Speaker 6 (18:24):
First, Clark, he's done a great job of bringing Vanderbilt back,
and I give him a ton of credit man the
way that he has done it. One, he's an alum,
so he's in deep affinity for the school. Two, he
brought a GM Barton Simmons, who I think was a
childhood friend who went from working recruiting site twenty four
to seven to being the general manager of the Commodores

(18:46):
and just they're recruiting.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
What they've done.

Speaker 6 (18:49):
The quarterback they got Diego Pavia, They have found the
right fit and a lot of it is when you're
taking on a program like that, is understanding who you
are and who we need to be to be successful here.
You can't complain about what you do or don't have.
You just have to go to work. And clark Ley
has done a great job of going to work and

(19:10):
this team has gotten more confidence as they have had
more success. So I love the job that he's done there.
Kurseygnetti from Indiana is different because he did a great
job of bringing a bunch of the guys that he
had with him at JMU James Madison University to Indiana
to establish the culture in the blueprint. The thing that

(19:32):
is a bit of a surprise is how they've been
able to sustain it after the Cinderella year last season.
But his bloodlines, his pedigree is good. He talked about
working at Alabama Undernick Saban, seeing how the machine operates,
taking the structure in those things that he learned from
Sabing and continue to apply it. Those things work. And

(19:53):
when you think about the people that have come out
of Alabama that adhere to those standards while being themselves.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
They have success. Mario Chrystoball spent time at Bama. Signetti.
You thinking about Mike Loxley in Maryland.

Speaker 6 (20:04):
There've been a ton of guys who've been able to
do it, to take that structure and do it.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
Even Lane Kiffin.

Speaker 6 (20:09):
Signetti's done a great job of being who he is
while having the infrastructure in place of a big time program.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
That's why Indiana has been successful.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
Yeah, it's good. I'm happy. I mean used to be
a basketball school, now it's a football school. It really is.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
All right, he's Bucky Brooks. Get him on X at
Bucket Brooks. We'll use him for as Bucky at Andy
Furman FSR. Betty Had eight seven seven ninety nine O
Fox eighty seven seven nine nine sixty sixty three sixty nine.

Speaker 3 (20:32):
Brianna, what's your ex again? I forgot it?

Speaker 1 (20:35):
It's breeding.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
Wait a minute, not your ex, but your ex a count.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
Oh wow, you're funny breed and twenty sixth.

Speaker 2 (20:42):

And that's why we have a brand new podcast called
over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun in
our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
Yeah, you blubber lit lame in me.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
Well, you know what it's called over promise.

Speaker 8 (21:50):
You should be good at it because you've been over
promising women for years.

Speaker 9 (21:52):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we
want you to be a part of it. We're gonna
be talking sports, of course, but we're also gonna talk

on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen to over Promised

Another botched kick that's right around the corner. He's Bucky Brooks,
I'm Andy Firman. We are Fox Football Sunday and we're
Life of the Fox Bus Radio Studios. By the way,
my show. Can I have a little sweet judge of
Brown please?

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Oh thank you? I love this, I love it. No,
this isn't just a game. It's a once in a
generation event.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
The Harlem Globetrotters one hundred Year Tour come to be
part of a legacy, that Nevistos be there when history

Can you name? Can you name three Harlem Globe Trotters?
Can you name three?

Speaker 4 (23:01):
You're asking me?

Speaker 3 (23:02):
His name?

Speaker 4 (23:02):
Three?

Speaker 6 (23:02):
Meadowlark my head, meadow Lark, Women Tweety Sanders.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
Cly Neal.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
What about Cheese? There is a kid from Brooklyn Cheese.
I called him last year. I did a story on
him in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle Cheese. I forgot his
last name, though. I want to see him that coming
to Cincinnati in December. I want to see them again.
They have a couple of different units. Because I looked
at that schedule, I went on that website, the Holland
Globe Charters dot com. They got like sometimes two games
in the same day and two different cities.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
So they got two different units.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
You know.

Speaker 3 (23:36):
Oh and they got a couple of women on the
roster this year too. Yeah they like that.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Yeah, it's pretty good. I always like the Holland Glow
trust you know, they're making a big push I think
because of the Savannah bananas.

Speaker 6 (23:46):
Do you think I mean just bananas? Yeah, certainly have
a Holland Globe. Try to feel to them when when
you watch them and you see them perform and the
entertainment that comes with it. Yeah, Like I certainly can
see where they would take some of their cues from
the Globetrotters and the way the Glow Starters have been

(24:07):
around their their global brand.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
No doubt about that. I love the Globe Trotters.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
I really did.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
I always wanted to work with them, I really did.
And that's another story for another day. Anyway, Thursday night,
you were busy watching Army East Carolina. You may have
been the only person in the world watching that game.
I'm just saying so. But there was an NFL game
that day. It was Seattle playing in Arizona, and it.

Speaker 4 (24:25):
Was I saw look at you.

Speaker 6 (24:28):
You know, it's possible to have like second screens, right,
so you can have one on the computer and one on.

Speaker 4 (24:33):
The TV like it is on your phone these days. Yeah,
I mean it's possible to do that.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Seattle beat up on Arizona twenty three to twenty, but
it was the Cardinals with a botch kick, So I'll
need your help on that. There was like twenty seconds
left in the game. Kyler Murray throws a touchdown pass.
The game gets tied up at twenty now, and the
next kick off the kicker Arizona's kicker, the kid Ryland,
He had a kick that didn't even reach the landing zone.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
Now I had to look this.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
They got this new NFL kickoff rule. Would you probably
know the kick must land inside the return team's twenty
yard line or it's a penalty. So what happens. Seattle
gets the ball, they're own forty. They watch down the
field twenty six yards, twenty four seconds left to go
in the game. They set up a field goal for
Jason Myers. He wins it with a fifty two yard
field goal, and that's the end of the game. Now,
what happens with this new kick rule? Is it this

(25:22):
kicker's fault? Is it the coaching fall? How does this happen?
And why did it happen.

Speaker 6 (25:27):
I mean, everybody's in. Everybody's responsible. The kick has to
understand the situation. He has to be told and taught
how to react in those situations. The special teams coach
likely provided instruction for what kind of kick they wanted
because they're different touchbacks depending upon where the ball lands
you kick it straight to the end zone. It comes
up to thirty five to those things. It's practice on

(25:49):
he has to execute under pressure. Under pressure, he didn't
and it's a big deal because the ball being at
the forty in today's game, with the range of the
kickers and police, is away from taking a nail. I mean,
if the balls at the forty, you get the ball
to the fifty, you're talking about a sixty seven, you're
a kick people have shown that they can make in

(26:10):
the sixties. You get it to the other forty, well,
now you're talking about a long fifty seven fifty eight
yard but they're making easily. That's the difference. That's why
it's important for the execution time on tasks.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
It doesn't seem like.

Speaker 6 (26:23):
A big deal because we always give kickers a hard time,
but you have to be able to get the job
done under pressure.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
That's a heartbreaking loss, and there's been a lot of them.
I know that this year, Okay, Matawa softened you up
a little bit, you know, and I made you feel
real good. I got to attack you a little bit,
all right, because I want to know what's up with
your team Jacksonville stealing signs at least that's what the
forty nine is defensive coordin that Roberts Seller says. He
says that your team is stealing signs. He said it's

(26:49):
not uncommon, and believe it or not, he says it's
not illegal. So why is he even talking about what
is he talking about it? By the way, I want
to hear him up front. Coach Sell, let me hear
what you have to say about the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Speaker 10 (27:03):
Go ahead, Liam and his staff coming from a couple
of guys coming from Minnesota. You know, they've got a
legally are really advanced, a signal stealing type system where
they always find a way to put themselves in an
advantageous situation.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
They do. They do a great job with that.

Speaker 10 (27:18):
They formation you to try to just try to find
any nugget they can. So we've got to be great
with our signals. And we've got to be great with
our communication and to combat some of the tells that
we might give on the field. So they're almost elite
in that regard. That whole entire tree, from Sean to
Kevin O'Connell, all those guys, they all do it.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
You know, that's pretty big roberts sell calling out not
only the Jacksonville Jaguars, but everybody from that coaching tree.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
You know, how is that received in Jacksonville? Big?

Speaker 2 (27:45):
Because you're part of that family. You're part of that tree.
And why would even bring this up if it's legal?
I don't get it. And what are they doing? What
are they doing?

Speaker 3 (27:54):
Buck?

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Nothing that's illegal.

Speaker 6 (27:57):
So when he says that, right, so the code word
or the inflammatory word is signs stealing, oh, the signaling signs.
But then he went on to talk about guys being
able to pick up clues from motion shifts in those things.
What he's doing is talk about putting it together. For instance,

(28:19):
all those coaches that come from to Sean McVay tree,
which is also the cow Shanahan tree, Which is funny
that he's talking about it because they're all crossbred because
they started together in Washington.

Speaker 4 (28:30):
Shanahan McVeigh, Lafleur.

Speaker 6 (28:33):
All those guys that Matt Lafleur is his best friend.
So he's basically outing everybody in what they're doing. They
formation you to death to see what you're in, and
then once they see what you're in, the quarterback makes
a check to get them in an optimal play. It's
no different than motioning a receiver across the formation seeing
if the corner runs with him or if he stays. Well,

(28:55):
if he stays, it's zone. If he runs with him,
it's man. While they're doing that, you have people that
are paying attention to the hand signs that players may
give to one another to do it. Because as a coach,
one of the things that you always talk about is
communication needs to be ideal. And the way that you
confirm communication on the field is you attach a hand

(29:18):
signal with the verbiage. So if I'm telling you, hey,
when we run across when man, we're going to turn
our hand like it's a key going in a lock,
because we're telling the corner you're locked. As a coach,
when I'm looking at tape, I'm beginning to pick up
those clues, Hey, when they turn their hand, that means
they're in man demand, so we're here there or whatever.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
So that's what they're doing. Now.

Speaker 6 (29:41):
Is that illegal? Absolutely not. If you're Robert Sala, don't
use hand signals. Put the onus on your guys to
be able to verbally communicate what they're doing without having
to confirm the call. One of the reasons why you
have the hand signals is when you're the coach watching
the tape of your team, if I see the hand signal,

(30:03):
then that means everyone is on the same page with
the communication.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
Now you have to wipe that away. So he's just being.

Speaker 6 (30:11):
What is he like, just kind of braddy by putting
it out there. There's nothing illegal that's being done. It's
been done for years. That's not science.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
Still, well, why would he do that to try to
get in you guys head? I don't understand that. I mean,
all he do is upset the coaching staff with Jacksonvine
and here here's you a head coach, Liam Khne. Let's
hear what he had to say his response forgetting his comments.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
Isn't that part of coaching is trying to figure out
whatever tell.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
Your opponent house?

Speaker 11 (30:40):
Yeah, I mean we have kind of typically buy formation
by game plan by working really hard as a coaching
staff throughout the week, trying to get indicators buy your formation, motion, shift,
pre snap. Those are the things that you're trying to
do as a coach. If you're trying to put your
players in the best position, it's going to be successful,

(31:01):
whether it's attacking man or zone coverage with your formations,
motions and concepts.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
I have no idea what he's talking about, but the
point is.

Speaker 6 (31:10):
This, so no, okay, So what Liam said basically is
what I'm saying. Our job is to put you in
different formations, shifts, and motions so that we can get
indicators of what you're in. If I start in one formation,
I shift to another formation, and I can tell that

(31:30):
you're in either man or zone. It now gives me
an opportunity to eliminate some things. Okay, we can't run
this because this is a better play versus man.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
So we run a zone concept.

Speaker 6 (31:41):
And if I have a quarterback that can handle volume
of plays at the line of scrimmage, where I come
to the line with two plays, So one play is
a man beater, the next play is a zone beater,
I shift in motion. Oh they're a man, A man kill,
kill kill. We're running demand beater. Everyone's on page. So

(32:03):
I'm given my offense the best chance to succeed by
doing things to make you uncover, to make you reveal
what you're in so now we can attack it.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
To me, that's coaching.

Speaker 6 (32:15):
So Robert Salad put it out there to create a distraction,
but by no means do you stop.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
Doing what you're doing. This is who you are, this
is what you do.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
Okay, I'm going to tell you right now. The next
game I coach in the National Football League will be
my first. However, he kind of intrigued me with his
remarks because I had never heard that before, and they
said it's legal what they're doing. So I looked up
the Jacksonville Jaguars and the kind of personnel they do.
They trot out they say eleven personnel, one running back,
one tight end.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Three receivers.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
They do that, and you should know work with them
like seventy percent of their snaps.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
That's what they do.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Okay, So really and truly everybody knows what tendencies they have,
what they're doing right there. There are no real secrets.
You know, we've been man up, match up, coach, your
guys hard, and if they got better players, you'll win.
That's basically the bottom line, isn't it.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
Well, what you're talking about is personnel grouping, which is
eleven personnel, So you always The reason why eleven tells
you what it is is number of running backs in
the game, number of tight ends in the game. So
it's easy for the defense to identify. What Liam and
Sean McVay and those staffs do is they do a

(33:29):
great job of motioning and shifting, meaning they start up
in one formation. So for instance, they start out tied
in two wide receivers on the right, one receiver on
the left. They shift one of those receivers goes to
the other side, so now it's two by two motion again,
running back now goes from one side to the other side.
And what they're trying to get you to do with

(33:51):
all the shifting and motioning is they're trying to make
you play a vanilla defense.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
That's basically why they're doing it.

Speaker 6 (33:58):
They're trying to make it so hard for you to
communicate on defense that you're like, screw it, we're just
gonna line up in a vanilla blackboard defense that doesn't change.
And then they attack you in your simplest defense, and
they have an advantage. That's what you're looking for when
you're a team that shifts emotions on every play. And

(34:19):
so Sala's putting that out there. He's only putting it
out there to create, as they would say, fake news,
because what he said is fake news signs stealing. But
when he put that inflammatory word out there, it made
people think, oh, on the heels of Connors Stallions in Michigan,
they're over there doing something illegal. No, we're playing ball.

(34:43):
This is what you do when you play ball. Our
motions shift to gain an advantage.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
To make you confuse, and then when you confuse, I
attack you. That's what the Jaguars are doing.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
And I'll ask you this, and maybe I'm very naive.
I always thought the coaching deal was an eternity. I
never heard a coach do this before college. Every once
in a while that happens. Hoppened in Michigan. Obviously that
caught the guy. There was some cheating going on, if
you want to use the term cheating. They were scouting.
They had guys in the stands. But in the NFL,
I have never heard this before. So you know, the

(35:12):
brother factor I think that's down the drain right now,
at least with Salah, right. I mean I never heard
that before. I never heard coaches it is.

Speaker 6 (35:19):
But but so it goes beyond that, right, So so
Andy when when you're a coach or a team that's
preparing for a game, so you have all twenty two tape,
which is you see everyone on the field, but there's
nothing there. But coaches will also assign other coaches to
look at the TV copy of the tape because the

(35:39):
TV copy of the tape has the audio, and when
you listen to the audio with the boom mics on
the field, you can sometimes hear the opponent's audible calls.
They're verbal signals. So when the quarterback comes to the
line of scrimmage and you.

Speaker 4 (35:54):
Go read eighteen red eighteen check, chack cha cha check,
halle berry, halle berry.

Speaker 6 (35:59):
So what's you do is you look at what did
they do after the term halle berry came out, and
you cross reference.

Speaker 4 (36:08):
It when you're looking at the TV man.

Speaker 6 (36:10):
Every time they did halle berry, they ran this play, Okay,
so now we're on them. Whenever they go halle Berry, guys,
this means this is coming. And then when you go
into the game, you tell them, hey, halle Berry means this,
but let's do this. Let's see if it holds true
to what we studied on tape. So the first time

(36:31):
they run halle Berry, you check and see, Hey, did
halle Berry equal display?

Speaker 4 (36:37):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (36:37):
Okay, Now we go with it. Every time they go
halle Berry, they're doing this. So it's that type of
thing that you're doing.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
I appreciate that. I really do. Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
Now I don't like the guy Rial and Glinny got

(38:06):
our executive producer, you got a question for Ask Bucket,
don't you.

Speaker 5 (38:10):
Yes, it's from one of our listeners, Christopher he's asking
how much of the Raiders O line issues are personnel
based or scheme based. It seems like they never have
talent on the O line.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
The Scott Christopherson's pretty smart.

Speaker 6 (38:23):
Yeah, No, I would say it's a combination of both.
I think you have to scheme around your deficiencies. When
you're a good coach, you're a good team. And right
now the Raiders are deficient at the offensive line. The
one thing about Pete Carroll and Chip Keller, they'll figured out,
they figure out whether they need to be his own scheme,
gap scheme or whatever to kind of minimize the deficiencies
that you have up front.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Sounds great, Brianna. Do you have a question of your own?

Speaker 11 (38:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (38:46):
I do.

Speaker 5 (38:47):
Baker Mayfield was on one of the Fox podcasts with
Mark Sanchez and he kind of made a comment about
the Eagles coming into Tampa a few days early to
kind of get acclimated to like the humidity. Bucky, is
that like a thing that a lot of teams do
to try to get acclimated, like to the weather, And
he was saying that it makes like really no difference
and it just gets in their head more than anything.
Do you think that's kind of true or what do

(39:08):
you think?

Speaker 6 (39:10):
Uh, well, this is the first time I've heard about
someone going down to Florida to get aclimated.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
To the heat. And people do different things based on
based on the science.

Speaker 6 (39:17):
And I will say that the Eagles have one of
the most advanced sports science groups. They do a bunch
of things based on what the science tells them.

Speaker 4 (39:25):
And so if they feel like.

Speaker 6 (39:26):
They need to get acclimated to the immunity to perform
better on Sunday, who am out of knock them? Theydn't
defend in Super Bowl champons and they played well nineteen
out of twenty wins.

Speaker 2 (39:33):
So you know, that's an interesting question, Beyonna, that's a
very interesting way to tell you what was Years ago?
I asked Bill Belichick the question, how do you get
yourself acclimated when you go.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
To Green Bay? You know what he told me?

Speaker 2 (39:43):
He says, we do practice indoors, but when we play
a cold weather team, we play with the doors open.

Speaker 6 (39:51):
You gotta get used to it, like take the distraction
out of it. Like if players are worried about it,
what you're trying to do is eliminate all the excuses
for them.

Speaker 4 (39:59):
This the reason.

Speaker 6 (40:00):
Hey, it's hot. Yeah, we've been here, you know what
it is. We practicing it. Let's go, let's figure it out.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
Quick question about a baseball question, America League MVP cal Raley,
the Big Dumper or Aaron Judge and why.

Speaker 6 (40:12):
I guess the Big Dumper just more so because what
he's done is good and the Mariners are a better
feel good story.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
The Yankees are the Yankees. That's why we would go
for the Mariners.

Speaker 3 (40:20):
Guy, I'm going with Aaron Judge.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Are your top three quarterbacks after the first three weeks.

Speaker 6 (40:27):
Baker Mayfield would be one of them, Daniel Jones would
be another, and then I would either go Josh Allen.

Speaker 4 (40:36):
Yeah, Josh Allen would go because I can't.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
Go to Justin Harbert.

Speaker 4 (40:40):
Oh yeah, that's fine, that's all right.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
There we go.

Speaker 2 (40:44):
I have a couple of more questions, but I'm gonna
hold off. I'm gonna hold it. I want to get
some big time answers from you, which I know you
give me. We got a lot, and you've got your
top ten coming up as well, so we've got a
lot going on over here. We have one more big
I were to go. Plus we got the blame game.
But you got a top ten but then may be
a problem.

Speaker 3 (40:59):
There. We've got that and so much more.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
Were Fox Football Sunday coming up right here next on Fox.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Okay, we're gonna see if we agree on this, all right,
you're gonna find that out in just about a minute.

Because Bucky Brooks has that top ten list on Foxsports

(41:53):
dot Com every single week, and I made my own.
I want to see if you and I agree. Is
that okay with you? I don't mean to challenge. I cannot.
I'm not in the same league as you are, but
perhaps I could give you a little bit of a
run for the money.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
How's that?

Speaker 4 (42:07):
Okay, let's do it.

Speaker 3 (42:09):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (42:09):
Now, you got the Philadelphia Eagles number one, all right,
and I think that that's a pretty easy choice.

Speaker 3 (42:16):
It's a very conservative choice.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
I mean, look, last week they beat the Rams thirty
three to twenty six. What Jordan Davis was the guy
he ran into the end zone and the final play.
But here's the deal, right now, you got Jalen Hurts
seventeen and oh in his last seventeen games that he
started and finished.

Speaker 3 (42:34):
He's a winner.

Speaker 2 (42:35):
I mean, here's to get the credit I think he deserves.
But he's just a winner. So you and I agreed
that the Philadelphia Eagles at three and oh are number one,
and they're playing the Buccaneers today. Let's look at that
game for a second, because I think the one thing
that's glaring to me in this game is that the
Eagles really and truly need running back say Kwon Barkley
to get it on track. He's well off that pace

(42:58):
for two thousand and five yards from a year ago.

Speaker 6 (43:01):
Yeah, well, but you can't expect him to come back
and go back to back two thousand yards. Have we
ever seen anybody go back to back with two thousand yards?
I think the reason of what expectation was him to
fade back to the pack given the wear and tear
that he absorbed last year, but to be fresh down
to stretch and find a way to get it done.
To me, the Eagles are winners and in the league,

(43:21):
we're winning matters and that's the only thing that matters.

Speaker 4 (43:24):
I don't worry about style points.

Speaker 6 (43:25):
They continue to win, the back to back, the defending champs,
and so until someone knocks them off, they gonna occupy
a number one spot.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
Okay, sounds good. Okay, Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 2 (43:34):
You got them at number two, and believe it or not,
I put them at number two as well. Thursday night
they beat the Dolphins thirty one twenty one, and you
got Josh Allen, the defending MVP, and he's got already
seven touchdowns, five of those are passing to rushing almost
seven almost nine hundred total yards.

Speaker 3 (43:52):
Look, he's on his way. He could be defending that MVP. Deal.
So we got Buffalo as number two. You like Buffalo
a lot I know you do. You're one of those
Buffalo guys and they're.

Speaker 6 (44:02):
Playing this Yeah, I mean, yeah, they played the Saints.
They did a good team. And I've said this early
in the week. They may not have the best roster,
but they might be the best team the way the
pieces of the puzzle fit together. They play at a
championship level. Sean mcdermot's done a great job. They have
an MVP and Josh Allen and say what you will
about the Buffalo Bills, they find a way to get
it done every week.

Speaker 2 (44:22):
Look, I think that Sean mcdermot's one of the most
underrated coaches in the league.

Speaker 4 (44:28):
Yeah, I mean, I agree with you, like he's great.

Speaker 2 (44:31):
Okay, let's talk about this Buffalo team. They have zero
turnovers and committed fourteen penalties and their quarterback and the Saints.
To me, and maybe I'm going on a limb here,
but I'm saying they could very well be the worst
team in the NFL this year.

Speaker 4 (44:47):
The New Orleans Saints, Yeah, I would say so. Yeah,
not great.

Speaker 2 (44:52):
And their quarterback Spencer Rattler as a starter, he's on
nine completed about sixty percent of his passes. Not good,
so to me, that's one of those games. If Army
was playing today, I'd watch the Army game. I'll just
make you feel good, all right, all right, number three,
you got the LA Chargers at three and zero and.

Speaker 3 (45:14):
Justin Herbert.

Speaker 2 (45:15):
I mean you didn't even have the top three quarterbacks.
Oh my goodness. But I like them a lot. What
makes the Charges so good? What makes them so good?

Speaker 6 (45:24):
Jim Harbaugh has given them confidence. They are a team
that doesn't beat themselves. So even though they're conservative in style,
they find a way to make it interesting, get to
bring you in because they consistently win. When you really
look at the nuts and bolts of the Charges team,
they want to be a run heavy team. They want
to play defense top down, meaning take away the big

(45:46):
plays Fortunton Nickel and dim the ball down the field
and punish you over sixty minutes until they break your will.

Speaker 4 (45:54):
That is what they do.

Speaker 6 (45:55):
Now with the quarterback, who's an added dimension because he
is talented.

Speaker 4 (46:01):
He is athletic, he does have big time arm talent.

Speaker 6 (46:03):
They use him, but they don't use him like some
teams were using whe he throws it all the time.
They pick and choose when the ride on him. But
it's a well constructed team and they play a style
that they're always going to win games because more games
are lost than one.

Speaker 4 (46:18):
They're trying not to beat themselves.

Speaker 2 (46:20):
Okay, they're playing the Giants tay in, New Jersey. Giants
are owned three charges, three and zero. Now, let me
talk a little bit more about the Jim Harbor coach
charges because when Justin Herbert was coming out of college,
do It's like a lot of debate, is it going
to be Joe Burrow with Justin Herbert? And all of
a sudden, Joe Burrow kind of sort of passed him by.
But now Justin Herbert is living up to those expectations,

(46:42):
and I think Jim Harbor has a lot to do
with that. He leads the NFL with eight hundred and
sixty passing yards, he has six touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (46:49):
He only has one I and honestly, this.

Speaker 2 (46:53):
Team is balanced pretty well because they also have the
Hampton kid running the team and leading the team in rushing.
So they got a pretty good team as far as
balance on the offensive side of the football. They got
a great schedule. Playing the Giants today, they're going to
be four and oh. I like them a lot and
this team could be destined to the super Bowl. I'll
go deep in the playoffs. I'm not saying right now
they're going to the super Bowl, but I think they're

(47:14):
gonna go deep in the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (47:16):
I mean the Bill Ford they're a really good team.
He's a great coach. He knows how to win.

Speaker 6 (47:21):
He connects with his players where he makes hard work fun.
They're all bought in and the culture of winning that
they've established. There is sustainable style of play, the people
that they bring in, all of that works.

Speaker 4 (47:33):
Yeah, they're gonna be hard.

Speaker 3 (47:34):
Out, all right.

Speaker 2 (47:36):
You got number four, here's a week go in different directions.
You got the Indianapolis Colt to number four because you're
went to that fool's gold that Daniel Jones think situation Okay,
And today they'll find out that they're gonna come down
to earth.

Speaker 3 (47:50):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (47:50):
Although I love Louisaniromo and I think defensively they've done well.
But Daniel Jones, I mean they're three and oh the
Colts the Rams are two and one. They're playing out
the Rams. The Rams take him today. But tell me
why you got the coat so high?

Speaker 6 (48:04):
Because they're one of the best teams in football, right now,
the way they're playing. They I mean they went two games,
but they didn't punt.

Speaker 4 (48:11):
I mean they go up and down the field.

Speaker 6 (48:13):
I mean, what don't you like about a team that
can run the football at will with Jonathan Taylor, former
rushing champ. They have a quarterback that is playing well
because he's finally being loved on by a coach that
has put him in a position to succeed because.

Speaker 4 (48:26):
He's playing to his strengths.

Speaker 6 (48:27):
He has talent on the perimeter, Michael Pittman and Josh
Downs and others, Todd Warren their first round pick. Offensive
line is physical. You talked about the guy lou Anarumo,
who y'all kicked out in Cincinnati but just continues to
put together great defenses when he has talent like he
does in Indianapolis.

Speaker 4 (48:43):
I don't see a glaring weakness in.

Speaker 6 (48:46):
This team outside of the perception of who Daniel Jones is.
But I'll say this, what quarterbacks have played well in
New York? Not many for the Giants of late. Maybe
it's not Daniel Jones. Maybe it was the New York
Jazz that was holding Daniel Jones back.

Speaker 2 (49:04):
Well, it could very well people find out today because
they got a new quarterback coming in there right now.

Speaker 3 (49:09):
I picked this San Francis. This is crazy.

Speaker 2 (49:11):
I know the forty nine ers are three and zero,
and I'm impressed the fact that even though they're starting quarterback,
brock Party is out and mac Jones kind of reaggravated
a strained last Sunday leading the forty nine ers to
that second win.

Speaker 3 (49:25):
They beat the Cardinals. I sweat for that sixteen to
fifteen with the score.

Speaker 2 (49:28):
They keep on rolling along and Brandon Ayak's not even playing,
So I honestly think that they deserve a lot of credit.
It's about coaching. I think that this team right now
has come together. They molded together. And sometimes maybe I'm wrong,
but sometimes injuries to start players, you know, elevate other
players on the team to make them better until the
mainstays come back. I like the forty nine ers a lot,

(49:51):
I really do. And they they got your jags today.
So tell me about that game. What do you think
I like the forty nine ers, I really do.

Speaker 6 (49:58):
Yeah, Well, they beat up so they don't have Nick Bosom,
they don't have Brandan i Yik on the perimeter.

Speaker 4 (50:05):
They're playing Ricky Piersoll and John Jennings will play. Brock
Predy is.

Speaker 6 (50:09):
Supposed to play, but they're beat up football team and
at some point you reach a point where you can't
play with the lesser dance.

Speaker 4 (50:17):
And George Kittle is also sitting out. They're a good team.
Kyle Shanahan is a good coach.

Speaker 6 (50:22):
I would say they've beaten some opponents that they should
have beaten, and the Saints and the Cardinals. We'll see,
We'll see what this looks like for the Jacks. Taking
on the team that everyone celebrates you included as a
championship contender.

Speaker 4 (50:35):
This would be a great measuring stick game for the Jacks.

Speaker 2 (50:38):
I'm not just picking this out of thinning because the
two things that kind of impressed me with the forty
nine ers. Number one, they don't turn the ball over
and number two, they got a tremendous pass rush. So,
you know, just to let you know, give you a
little scouting tip, you know, you know what.

Speaker 3 (50:53):
Solid the scouting.

Speaker 6 (50:56):
Yeah, but the past rush specialists that we're referencing, Nick
Bose is done for the year with the ACL, So
who's the next guy?

Speaker 4 (51:03):
Their big question is who is going to be the
next guy? Is Bryce Uff gonna be able to carry
the load. Ken he carry the load when he's.

Speaker 6 (51:10):
The primary rush as opposed to the compliment everyone is
not built to be a number one. So we'll get
a chance to see if he's built to be the
lead guy of a pass rush. Because when he went
to Philly he was a non factor. He was a
factor in New York when he had Quinn Williams and
some of those other guys, and so we'll see what
Shanahan and that crew is able to do.

Speaker 4 (51:29):
But yeah, they're a good team.

Speaker 6 (51:31):
I'm not ready to proclaim him as one of the least,
but they're a good team for sure.

Speaker 3 (51:34):
Okay, you got number five, the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 2 (51:36):
And you know there are two teams, a college team
and the pro team that I root for, root for
certain players, and I like Lamar Jackson a lot for
the Baltimore Ravens, and I do like Deon Sanders with Colorado.

Speaker 3 (51:46):
So those teams I sort of live and die to
some extent, not a lot. And when the.

Speaker 2 (51:50):
Ravens played last week, I mean, they didn't do any
justice to help Lamar Jackson. I mean their defense, their
secondary is really bad. Got them at five. And I
just don't think they got the secondary unless they you know,
shorting it up and turn it around before the end
of the season. They're not going to go too deep
in the playoffs again. And you know what's going to happen.

(52:12):
The spotlight is going to be on Lamar Jackson that
he can win the big ones, he can't take them
to the super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (52:17):
And it's not Lamar, it's not and you know that
as well.

Speaker 2 (52:20):
It's the defense and the secondary specifically that it's not
getting the job done for the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 4 (52:25):
Yeah, I agree with you.

Speaker 6 (52:26):
And then four disclosure for everyone who's wonning why the
Baltimore Ravens are five. These rankings are submitted Sunday night,
at the end of the Sunday night game.

Speaker 4 (52:34):
That's when I send.

Speaker 6 (52:35):
Them, So whatever happens on Monday night I have no
control over. And I've said this, and I've said this
to my editorial team. Hey man, it doesn't make me
look great if I'm submitting these rankings before Monday night
and no one knows that the Monday night score doesn't
impact everything. So yeah, I wouldn't put them fifth. I
wouldn't have them in my top ten based on what

(52:56):
they look like on Monday, because they're one and two
and their defense this is terrible.

Speaker 2 (53:01):
I mean, it's a problem, right, That's why I didn't Well,
you know, it's not fair because you do submit them early.
I got the Detroit Lions at number five, and I
think their offense is coming together again. You know, the
first game at the week one, everybody was saying Jared
Goff and the Lions at offense is not there. They
lost their offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson is not going to
be the same.

Speaker 3 (53:20):
They're back now, Okay. I think things are back right now.

Speaker 2 (53:23):
And they got the Cleveland Browns today and there's been
some war of words between the Browns and the Lions
right now. But I do think the personnel is so
much better in Detroit than Cleveland. So I think Detroit
takes that game. But it'll be a good game, be
a good battle defensively.

Speaker 3 (53:38):
Anyway.

Speaker 6 (53:39):
Well, I'm gonna say this, the Cleveland Browns number one defense,
they are locked and loaded. Jimswartz is gonna have those
guys ready to play because it's a personal game for him,
having been the former Lions head coach, and I would
say that this is the perfect time if you're the
Cleveland Browns to catch the Lions. You're catching them after
a very emotional game on Monday Night, one that they

(54:01):
poured a lot into. It's a short week, so the
turn around has been quick and they're primed and ready.
It is hard to get your team up at an
a level on back to back games. This is one
where we saw the Browns snatch down the Green Bay Packers.

Speaker 4 (54:17):
I will never be made prins.

Speaker 6 (54:20):
Yeah, I would not be surprised to see the Browns
claim another victim today.

Speaker 3 (54:24):
That's in me. Okay, we do agree on number six.

Speaker 2 (54:27):
We both have Tampa Bay and I do it also
right now, if the NFL season with the end today,
I think Baker Mayfield will get a lot of MVP votes.
I don't know if you get the MVP, but he'd
be pretty darn close to getting the MVP, that's how
good he's playing. But you know what, you can't go
by scores. I think you have to have a kind
of an eye for the personnel and maybe the opponent
who you play. Sometimes you play to the strength or

(54:49):
weakness of your opponent. Because they played the Jets last
week and they were sweating. It was a tough win.
They won twenty nine to twenty seven, but they're the
head and shoulders better than the Jets. But sometimes don't
teams look past those teams? I mean you played the game.
I mean when you see a uniform that you know
the team has a losing record, a bad record, do
you not put out the emotion that you normally do?

(55:11):
I mean, how does that work?

Speaker 6 (55:14):
You've got to be focused and you have to appeal
to the professionalism part. But yeah, like human instinct is
to let up off the gas when you feel like
you're playing a team that isn't very good. But the
great coaches find a way to inspire their team to
bring their a game. They create standards and expectations that, look,

(55:34):
we're not playing the other team, we're playing to our standard.
Let's make sure we play our game our way, and
you do different things to ensure that. But yeah, like
it's hard. It's hard to get up for a team
that everyone in the world says that you should be
and it should be a lafer. Not an easy deal
at all.

Speaker 3 (55:51):
And it's funny because you look at statistics.

Speaker 2 (55:53):
Right now, no NFL team has ever started three and
zero like Tampa and with a low point differential than
Tampa's plus minus six.

Speaker 3 (56:04):
I mean, that's amazing. But they got the Eagles today.

Speaker 2 (56:06):
You know it's going to be closer than one would think.
And I think that if Baker Mayfield can pull this off,
you know he'll be really I mean, I love the
Baker Mayfield story. I mean, he basically was bumming around
for a while and then people got rid of him.
He came back, and now he's really he's a tremendous quarterback.
I mean, I don't know if it's the system, it's
the coaching staff. Maybe he matured a little. I don't know.

(56:29):
I don't know what happened. Maybe you do, But all
of a sudden, Baker Mayfield's got a second life in
the NFL, and I'm happy for him.

Speaker 6 (56:36):
Look all those things are in play in terms of
like his maturity, system surrounding belief in terms of the
teams belief in him.

Speaker 4 (56:48):
All those things are true.

Speaker 6 (56:49):
He's playing an MVP level because this team, he's orchestrated
three straight game winning drives in a final minute. I mean,
he is everything that you would want him to be
based on former number one overall pick coming in winning
a bunch of games playing at a high level. It
all works and it works well for him, So hats

(57:10):
off to him, man, kudos, give him credit.

Speaker 3 (57:13):
Yeah, you're right about that number seven.

Speaker 2 (57:15):
You got the San Francisco forty nine ers, which I'm
happy you at least have them in the top ten. Really,
I do not I'll tell you why I have, but
I want you to. I want to hear your assessment
of these forty nine ers with or without Rock Party.

Speaker 6 (57:29):
I mean with Rock Party, dear legit. Rock Purdy is
a big time player. He is an extension of Kyle
Shanahan on the field. He makes this offense go because
he understands where all the outlets and the safety valves are.
So if you take away his first and second read,
he finds a way to get the ball to the
outlet and they continue to stay on schedule. This team defensively,

(57:51):
Feed Warner is terrific. He's the best middle linebacker in football,
makes plays all over the field and says his own
Robert Salad has come in and I would say solidify
their defense because they've gone back to the way they
used to play.

Speaker 4 (58:05):
Windemko Ryans and those guys were there.

Speaker 6 (58:07):
It's a simple defense, They keep the ball in front,
They dare you to drive the link to the field
on short passes, and most people don't have the patience
to stick with their script and that's where they get you.
Just a really good team, but the injuries are a factor,
and you just wonder how long can this team continue

(58:27):
to play at that level before the injuries catch up
to them.

Speaker 2 (58:31):
You know, you got Kristy McCaffrey and Brandon Ayuck. It's
almost year in and year out. It's almost like a
Joe Burrow situation. Is there a possibility that maybe it's
not so much the player as maybe the medical staff
at times?

Speaker 3 (58:43):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (58:43):
I mean, Joe Burrow to me is injury prone. There's
no doubt about that. I mean, he's somewhat cursed. But
I look at the forty nine ers, it's a very
similar situation. Christian McCaffrey every single year, Brandon Ayuk right now,
it's an age catching up to them. Maybe I don't know,
but no one points a finger at the met staff
or the training staff.

Speaker 3 (59:01):
I mean, is that possible?

Speaker 6 (59:03):
I mean, I mean it's possible, and they may have
had internal discussions about what's going on. Why are we
so susceptible to certain kinds of injuries, maybe we should
put some research on it and see. Maybe general manager
or head coach, president has some things where they issue
a research project and just kind of see what's going on.

(59:23):
Why are our players on the sideline. Is it something
that we're doing to put them in harm's way, Whether
it's our practice schedule, a lift in regimen, whatever.

Speaker 4 (59:33):
You look at all those things.

Speaker 6 (59:34):
When you're a beat up team like the Niners and
you've had injuries to star players year after year after year,
you do at least conduct a comprehensive, a comprehensive audit
on what you're doing to see if you can do
it better to put your players in the best position
to be available down the stretch.

Speaker 3 (59:51):
I agree with you.

Speaker 2 (59:52):
They Okay, I'll get to round the shout and now
the bucket Brooks top ten, eight, Green Bay, nine, Detroit
and ten.

Speaker 3 (59:57):
The La Rams will continue on that. Right now.

Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
What I want to do, I want to hear that
music again, Sweet Georgia Brown. I really love that song. Well,
I'm gonna look at history books how the Globe chartter's
found out about Sweet Georgia Brown. There you go, of course,

He's Bucky Brooks, number one in everybody's book. I'm Andy
Furman and we are live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
And of course we got the Blame game coming up
in about ten or twelve minutes.

Speaker 3 (01:01:08):
But right now we got the tyrack Player of the.

Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
Day, the moisten man comes over Aller gonna throw steps back,
swings it down.

Speaker 3 (01:01:17):
It is interception Oregon pitch ducks win.

Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
Ducks win.

Speaker 3 (01:01:22):
Interception by Dylan Pinabud.

Speaker 2 (01:01:24):
That means Penn State can't answer the score can Oregon
has ended it well an interception in the second overtime.
Oh my goodness, Oregon sayfety dealing with thinem and it
just said the Penn State's Drew Aller on his first
pass in the second overtime and the score of final
thirty twenty four Oregon over Penn State double overtime last night.

Speaker 3 (01:01:45):
And that was what was that?

Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
Courtesy of lear Field Jerry Allen from Learfield. Okay, that
was the player of the day and of course brought
to you by tire rat. For over forty years, tyrak
has been helping customers find the right ties for how,
what and where they drive. It fast and free backed
by free Road has a protection with convenient installation options
like mobile tire installation, tire rack dot Com the way

(01:02:08):
tire buying should be. All right, now, let's get into
this for a second, because you mentioned this game that
it could be somewhat of an upset with the Cleveland
Browns playing the Detroit Lions. The Detroit Lions, as you say,
because somewhat vulnerable. And there's a little bit of a
war of words going on there because the Lions offensive
coordinator John Morten says he feels pretty good about the
sourcey attack and they meet today. But all of a sudden,

(01:02:29):
now Miles Garrett had something to say about that too.
Miles Garrett, the defensive genius, you have to say on
the Browns D line. Let's see what Miles had to say.

Speaker 4 (01:02:39):
He isn't time to his opinion.

Speaker 12 (01:02:41):
Oh he had to see in a def it's a
uh no front like ours, and uh well, he's entitled
to say what he wants. And you know we have
the pillars to see now who's right. And I think
it'll be about battle of ideologies and I think, you know,
our our DC also had some things to say, and

(01:03:03):
you know we have to be the ones who put
it into action, and so we have to meet and
see who's.

Speaker 3 (01:03:07):
Are well, said Miles Garrett.

Speaker 7 (01:03:10):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
I will tell you right now that the Lions ranked
fourth in the NFL with one hundred and forty nine
rushing yards of game. Jamar Gibbs and David Montgomery, the
kid from Mount Mount holy I thought the Holy Cross
High School whatever it was, a high school in Ohio.
I know that Cincinnati. I believe David Montgomery. They're both
rolling and the defensive line is pretty good in Detroit.

(01:03:32):
But that gives them Moreton a lot of confidence. I'll
tell you what, We're going to see what happens today.
I wouldn't be surprised. If I was a betting man,
which I'm not, I would stay away from this game.
I think Cleveland right now has got a lot of confidence,
a lot of confidence. I think Mount Healthy High School,
that's what it was, David Montgomery, Mount Healthy High School
in Cincinnati, that's where it came.

Speaker 4 (01:03:50):
There.

Speaker 3 (01:03:50):
You go, how do you like that? I like that.

Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
I think that Cleveland could in fact take them. What
do you think We talked about this a bit before.

Speaker 4 (01:03:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:03:59):
No, they can definitely win the game. I mean, I
think this is one where you know, the Lions have
to be careful coming off that game where they won
an emotional game on a Monday night. They're vulnerable. They're
very vulnerable and susceptible to being knocked off. So can
they keep their focus? Can they do the things that
they need to do to win a game. This would

(01:04:21):
be a test of their maturity.

Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
Okay, speaking of test, right now, the New York Football
Giants are making a quarterback change.

Speaker 3 (01:04:28):
This is Jackson Dart.

Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
They're gonna have a go against the Charges right now,
all right, And I'm not so certain this is a
move for the betterment of the Giants or it's to
have the coaches save their job. You know, I think
that's the deal right now. If he could lead the
Giants to an upset, which I don't think he will,
he would become first quarterback in twenty three years to

(01:04:50):
win his first career start over a team that's three
and zero or better. Jackson Dart doing this, But I
don't know why the Giants would in fact throw him
against the Charge. Just why wouldn't you wait, unck, Why
wouldn't you wait a week and throw him against the
Saints to give him some confidence?

Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:05:06):
No, everyone who has NFL on their jersey is a
good player. So he has to jump in there. You can't, baby,
I'm just got to throw them in the deep end
and you have to.

Speaker 4 (01:05:14):
Figure it out.

Speaker 6 (01:05:15):
Like the thought that there's an ideal team to start
them against as a policy. So you put them in,
you prepare them, you live through the mistakes. But he's
your franchise quarterback and the other way he's gonna learn
is by doing so. You got to give them every
opportunity to do and coach them through some of those
rough moments.

Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
Now do you agree that this is more of a
move to help the coaches keep their job?

Speaker 3 (01:05:38):
Right?

Speaker 6 (01:05:40):
I mean it's always a move with that in mind.
It's always done with some of those things in mind.
How can we stay on point? How can we keep
this going? Maybe I can show some quarterback development and
data keep me.

Speaker 4 (01:05:55):
In my job. But yeah, like it's all about the quarterback.

Speaker 6 (01:05:58):
But they picked him for a reason, and the franchise
had to sign off.

Speaker 4 (01:06:02):
It wasn't just one person in the vacuum. Wasn't just
Brian dave Ball.

Speaker 6 (01:06:04):
Everyone had to be on board that this guy could
be our franchise quarterback. Well, now that you decided to
put him in, everyone has to support him and give
him literally, give him an opportunity to succeed.

Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
Yeah, what do you do?

Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
I mean when you draft a quarterback like that and
you know he's gonna be hopefully the franchise quarterback, the
quarterble of the future. I'm not really big of keeping
him on the sideline throwing to the wolves.

Speaker 3 (01:06:28):
Let him play, Is that the way to go?

Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
Or you know, back in the day, they would have
him stay on the sidelines for two to three years,
and to some extent, the Green Bay Packers still have
that system. They have that system in place though Jordan
Lovestate on the sidelines. That's what they do, right, But
some teams that we throw them.

Speaker 3 (01:06:46):
Right to the wolves. That's what most of the teams
are doing.

Speaker 6 (01:06:49):
Yeah, I mean that's I mean, the only way to
learn how to play is to play. Now, you have
to be ready to have your opportunity to play. But
you only learn by getting in there and making those
mistakes and having the successes and failures in real time.
If you're Jackson Dark, you want him to get in
there because you also want to see what he is,

(01:07:11):
where he's at, how we can make the team better,
to help him maximize.

Speaker 4 (01:07:16):
Who he could be.

Speaker 6 (01:07:18):
But you have to have real, real time analysis and
that only comes by watching him play.

Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
Okay, now the big question is Russell Wilson. What's the
story with him? Will we see him again? Just some
unrubblings right now that maybe the Cincinnati Bengals should go
after him because they could use a backup. They could
use him, maybe let him play. I mean he fits
their style. He could run the football. Have we seen
the end of Russell Wilson? And more than that, I'm
going to ask you, this is Russell. I've heard this

(01:07:47):
discussion during the week. Is Russell Wilson a Hall of Famer?
I would say right now, No, I don't think he is.

Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
I really don't.

Speaker 6 (01:07:57):
I think he will have a borderline case. I think
his case he falls into the muck. He was almost
a lock to do it.

Speaker 4 (01:08:05):
If they handed ball to Marshawn Lencher walk in, He's
a lock to go. Two times Super Bowl champ normally goes.
The funny thing is the difference between him and Eli Manning.

Speaker 6 (01:08:17):
Eli Manning won two Super Bowls. Eli Manning didn't have
a great career individually. Look, I would say his TVD.
I would put it at below fifty percent that he
gets in just because people are gonna remember the last
three stops Denver, Pittsburgh, New York did not go well
and the way that it ended in Seattle with him

(01:08:39):
seemingly forcing his way out because he wanted to have
more credit the history. The historians won't take too kindly
to that part of it because it didn't work in
his favor.

Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
I'll mention this to you.

Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
I mean, I remember that Super Bowl that he was
in Seattle, and they should have won that game. They
should have handed the ball off instead of passed gonna
end up an interception with the Patriots. I would say
that Seattle team one and got to the super Bowl,
not so much on the strength of Russell Wilson, but
it was the legion of boom that they said the
defense got him there. Don't you agree it was a

(01:09:14):
defense that really pushed him to the Super Bowl more
so than Russell Wilson's play.

Speaker 6 (01:09:19):
Yeah, it was always that, And you know that's the thing,
and that's what makes it hard. And that's why guys
are bitters from his teammates, a bitter because we in
the media always make it about the quarterback and that
team was not really a quarterback driven team. That team
was a Marshawn Lynz defensive driven squad and they never
fully got the credit that they deserve for operating like that.

Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
Yeah, and what hurt him.

Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
Look, I understand that more often than not its perception
rather than statistics. Okay, first of all, they're going to
compare them, as you say to Eli Manning. Eli Manning
went too. But I will tell you two other things
that are in Eli Manning's favor. Number one is name
and number two he played a New York Okay, the
thing is the perception with Russell Wilson. It said that
when he went to Denver, he didn't he have like

(01:10:06):
his own room. He didn't want to stay with anybody.
He had his own little office space. He's very aloof.
I mean, really, it means nothing as far as what
kind of a player you are. But I think that
that goes a long way in the mindset of the
people who make those decisions and the voters.

Speaker 3 (01:10:24):
They take that into consideration.

Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
Yeah, they do.

Speaker 13 (01:10:28):
And it won't bowl well for him in terms of
that because he didn't have success. There have been a
lot of quarterbacks that are being kind of prickly aloof
in those things, but you gotta win when you do that.

Speaker 4 (01:10:39):
He didn't win, so that hurts him.

Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
Have we seen the end of Russell Wilson?

Speaker 4 (01:10:47):
I'm sorry, would you say anything I said?

Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
Have we seen the end of Russell Wilson.

Speaker 6 (01:10:52):
No, he'll get another opportunity to be a backup if
he wants that. It depends on what he wants to do,
you know, That's the thing. Depends on if he wants
to continue to play and is he willing to be
a backup? Is he willing to be a good backup?
Can he check his ego at the door? In those things?
Sometimes it's hard for you who's always been a starter

(01:11:14):
to take on a secondary your role. Everyone's not meant
to do that. So only he can kind of answer
that because he has to know what he's willing to
do and how he's willing to play it.

Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
You know, that's a great situation. It's a great comic
You just man. I mean, you got Kirk Cousins, who
was a starter, he ended up being a backup and
you don't hear much about him right now. But isn't
an ego thing? I mean to me? You know, if
you push back like he has been right now in
New York, there's always the possibility of a Jackson Dark

(01:11:48):
could have problems or b Jackson Dark may even get hurt. So,
you know, do you not really a backup? In you're
a reserve. I think it's a difference being a backup or.

Speaker 3 (01:12:00):
A reserve, don't you agree.

Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
There are some quarterbacks that are journeymen that have always
have been backups. But to be a reserve, that's a
different deal. Reserve is you're waiting for your opportunity.

Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
Does that make any sense?

Speaker 4 (01:12:13):
Look, man, I think if you're not starting to hind
you to back.

Speaker 6 (01:12:15):
Up, regardless of what that is, however you spin it, however,
it makes you feel better your backup, and you have
to be okay with what you're giving and how it goes.
And you got to be a good teammate when it
comes to that. And everyone can't be a good teammate
in those situations because it's hard to get out of
their own way. It's hard for some people to accept

(01:12:38):
it and to continue to practice and play and support
the team when they know they're not playing that. I mean,
that's why you gotta have the right temperament, and everyone
doesn't have the right temperament when it comes to it.

Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
Yeah, it's kind of crazy. I mean, look on the Bengals,
they got Jake Browning. I mean I can't see him
being a starting quarterback on the National Football he's gonna
labeled a career backup, which isn't bad. I mean, you
can make some good money being in the NFL, you know,
ten twelve years being a backup. But you know, sometimes
you get that label, and baseball to have that too,
you know, a utility player, relief pitcher. You know, you

(01:13:14):
label the position and that's it. You're stuck there until
you get the opportunity to prove yourself. Giving a coach
will give you that chance to say, well, let me
see what you got.

Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
And it's said in a way, but you're just labeled
in that position.

Speaker 6 (01:13:28):
I mean, yeah, you label until you prove that you
can handle more responsibilities and do more things. For Yeah,
like Russell Wilson, who has proven that he can play
at a high.

Speaker 4 (01:13:38):
Level in his league. He's a Bowl champion, he can
be legendary.

Speaker 6 (01:13:43):
But I would say that sometimes ego gets the best
of all of us, and his ego might have got
the best of him at the end of his tenure
in Seattle, where he wanted to cook, he wanted to throw,
he wanted to show and prove to people.

Speaker 4 (01:13:55):
That he could do those things. That's it.

Speaker 6 (01:13:58):
You know, it's kind of weird, right, someone who stands
for all the right things does catch a lot of
flack and criticism. People talk about it being fake and
phony and all those things. Right, I just think it's
interesting when he's tried to do it the right way,
he's tried to be the quote unquote company man and
those things, and how it hasn't been well received when
there's others who've taken that tacked and they're celebrated for that.

Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
You're exactly right.

Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
The blame game coming right up. It's about twelve minutes
before the top of the hour. He is Bucky Brooks,
I'm Andy Ferman. Are Fox Football Sunday on Fox Sports Radio.
By the way, at the top of the hour, that's
eight am Eastern time. Mike Harmon and Greg Cosell won
a won two punch. I like them a lot, Hey,
and we are live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.

Speaker 3 (01:15:33):
Right now is time for.

Speaker 1 (01:15:35):
The playing game. You ruin me? It's all your fault.
It's your fault.

Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
What is all your fault?

Speaker 1 (01:15:45):
Maybe it's everyone's fault.

Speaker 7 (01:15:47):
She's a liar.

Speaker 1 (01:15:48):
That's why there's the blame game game. Let's figure out
who to blame.

Speaker 3 (01:15:53):
He's a liar. She's a liar. Brianna, you got something
for us? I do?

Speaker 5 (01:15:57):
Okay? So upon Michael Parsons turned back to Dallas later
on this evening, Jerry Jones says, there's not gonna be
any kind of like, you know, like a package like
welcoming him or kind of like honoring his time in Dallas. Like,
who do you blame for that?

Speaker 4 (01:16:12):
Andy?

Speaker 5 (01:16:12):
What do you think?

Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
I blame Jerry Jones? Come on, give him some credit.
You didn't give him the money. You let him walk. Okay,
you can't even like welcome into your place. I mean
that's bad. I mean I could see the other guys
on the Dallas Cowboys being a little upset about this
as well.

Speaker 3 (01:16:26):
Jerry Jones.

Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
I never met the man, but I just think he's
a little bit selfish. He got a big ego and
a little stuff. Come on, the guy did a lot
for your team. He didn't go any playoffs, obviously, but
he played a squad out and you let him walk.

Speaker 5 (01:16:40):
He didn't want a super Bowl, according to Jerry Jones,
But you what do you blame?

Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:16:44):
Look, I blame Michael Parsons for not doing enough to
get resigned to the Cowboys or being honored.

Speaker 4 (01:16:51):
What did he do? He played four years, He was
a three time All Pro.

Speaker 6 (01:16:54):
Okay, why are we celebrating.

Speaker 4 (01:16:58):
Now, we don't need a video tribute. He's on the
of the team. I'm not celebrating mediocrity.

Speaker 5 (01:17:03):
Good already. The SEC is making a schedule change with
only three annual opponents for each team. Who do you blame, Bucky?

Speaker 6 (01:17:13):
I actually like that because they go into a nine
game scheduled to st they put three opponents that are
permanently on your scheduled.

Speaker 4 (01:17:19):
Then you rotate through whatever you.

Speaker 6 (01:17:20):
Got to do to get nine games so they can
get in the directional schools off the map.

Speaker 4 (01:17:24):
I'm good with that.

Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
And yeah, I tell you what, though, you got to
put a blame on somebody, and initially I was going
to say it was TV.

Speaker 3 (01:17:30):
I don't think so. I think it's the expansion of
the leagues.

Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
I mean, right now with the SEC, you know, getting
gobbling up those other teams, So I think that's basically
the deal. But they're keeping the traditional rivalries, which I
think is good. So there is a blame obviously the
expansion of the league, but the blame is very less
than normal because I think it's a good thing.

Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
I really do.

Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
They're not going to play like the Northeast Central Louisiana
Tech state. They're not going to play those.

Speaker 3 (01:17:57):
Schools, all right.

Speaker 5 (01:17:59):
So the Bengals at Minnesota last week forty eight to ten,
the worst loss in team history.

Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
Did they quit?

Speaker 5 (01:18:05):
And if so, who do you blame?

Speaker 1 (01:18:07):
Andy Jordan Lawd.

Speaker 2 (01:18:08):
I would say this though, the term quit, and I
was told this by Lincoln Kennedy right here on these
airways a Fox Sports radio. That's the one word you
don't tell an athlete or a team. And I was
very close to thinking that last week. I don't want
to say that. I think I gotta blame the preparational
lack there of it. Obviously, without Joe Burrow, they're a
different ball club. They can't run the football, They're not

(01:18:31):
made to run the football. So I think the blame
has to go from the coach down. I'm not going
to use the term quick, but pretty close I was
close to saying so, Bucky.

Speaker 6 (01:18:40):
Yeah, No, I mean, look, I blame everybody, the coaching staff,
the players.

Speaker 4 (01:18:44):
They didn't play well.

Speaker 6 (01:18:45):
They got whooked and sometimes in the National Football League
it happens, but it wasn't a great look for them.

Speaker 5 (01:18:53):
Who do you blame for the Houston Texans and their
zero and three start?

Speaker 4 (01:18:57):
Bucky and it's a little bit of everybody to blame.

Speaker 6 (01:19:01):
CJ's Droud gets a little bit, Demko Ryans gets a
little bit, the general manager Nick Casario gets a little bit.

Speaker 4 (01:19:07):
They all are to blame. They're the three central figures
when it comes to the Texans. They shouldn't be going
three to two talented.

Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
Andy, I agree. I mean that's one of the shot theres.
I mean, I could see the Dolphins being Owen three.
Perhaps I could see the Saints being Owen sixteen. But
I can't see the Houston Texans own three. There's a
problem over there, and it's probably eating the coaching staff
up alive because they're better than that.

Speaker 3 (01:19:30):
They really are.

Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
Okay, the Tigers look like the class of baseball about
a month ago. Then they totally collapsed and gave up
their fifteen game lead in their division. Who do you blame, Andy.

Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
Well, I don't think that collapse as bad as the Mets.
If they really want to know how to collapse, follow
the New York Mets.

Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
But they did collapse.

Speaker 2 (01:19:49):
But they're going to the playoffs, which is a good thing.
And the Mets will find out today if in fact
they're going postseason. But I think the pitching was a problem.
They no doubt about that. But you know, I think
that when you play one hundred and sixty two games,
but I think you're gonna get a kind of a
situation where you're gonna go down to the valley. It's
just it's a normal situation. One hundred and sixty two

(01:20:09):
is a long all it really is.

Speaker 4 (01:20:12):
Yeah, long goal. But you can't lose a fifteen game lead.
I mean, I don't know what that is. At fifteen games.
You can't lose a fifteen game lead.

Speaker 6 (01:20:19):
I blame them. They choked it out. They found a
way to get in, but not great.

Speaker 5 (01:20:24):
Okay, could safety Cameron buying them? Accuse the Rams of
pumping fake crowd noise in Sofi Stadium because the fans
aren't boisterous enough. Andy, who do you blame?

Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
I think that's great. Whatever it takes to win. I
don't care. Whatever it takes.

Speaker 3 (01:20:39):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (01:20:39):
And I know when the Bengals used to play on Seattle,
they would have crowd noise over here, and since tonight,
the practice with that because of the eleventh Man or
twelfth Man, whatever it may be. Thirteenth man in Seattle,
they do that with a big crowd noise. I don't
think it's a problem.

Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
It's good.

Speaker 4 (01:20:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:20:54):
I don't like the fake noise. Get your people in
the stands, but that's what I want to see. Guys.

Speaker 2 (01:21:00):
Good job, well, thank you so much, thank you for
your hope. As always, there we go and obviously Mike
Harmon is coming up next with Gretco Sol Buck.

Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
You have a great week, go see you next week.

Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
Mark, thank you and Brianna next on Fox Sports Radio.
