Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio. Oh, let's get
after it.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's another beautiful, beautiful ceremony unfolding here as we have
another week of NFL action with us one game already
in the books. Only two teams on by this week,
Minnesota after two weeks abroad and the Houston Texans.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
So those are the two teams on bye.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
We've got one game of the books that we'll take
a look back at and preview a lot of the
slate from what we've seen and what we're expecting a
little bit later on today. Welcome in. I'm Mike Carmen
alongside me. Blessed to be doing it once again. My
guy Greg Cosel forty six years NFL films the NFL
Matchup Show weekly with Colin Cowhard one o'clock Eastern. They

(00:43):
call it the best fifteen to twenty minutes that you
get on radio.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Well, we got them for two hours. Let's go. How
are you doing, Greg?

Speaker 3 (00:51):
Mike? What's happening to my man? Another football Sunday? Can't wait?

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Oh, it's just so much greatness on the slate. I
heard you talk with Brionna a little bit about her
new New Orleans Saints. We'll get into them because interesting
on both sides of that equation for that game later
on today, weather a factor in some spots, certainly in Carolina,
they're keeping an eye out.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
And then we get one more early game.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Before we're done, you know, before we start getting away
from some of these games. Greg so another early slate
and maybe some Aaron Glenn dancing, he would hope to.
But Denver and the Jets coming up in about an
hour and a half's time for those waking up and
frantically setting those fantasy lineups.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Yeah, yeah, these early games. You know, it's so funny
for me anyway, I become so ritualistic with watching the NFL.
Like sometimes these early games. It's like, oh, there's an
early game. I have to change my life now, you know,
because I'm just so used to a Sunday one o'clock.
It's NFL football, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
No, that's it, right, you forget about. And they came
a little earlier I think this year, and well, there
certainly will be more of them.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Under the next no questions, yep.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Certainly the profit margin has to be there. Otherwise they'd say, oh,
well you don't like this, No, no, no, if money's there,
keep chasing, keep expanding globalization and global domination, no question
about it. I wanted to take a minute to go
back if we can, Greg, let's go back to Thursday.
We'll we'll do a bunch of highlights from last week
as we set the table for week six. But go

(02:20):
back to Thursday night and two youngsters on display.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
Let's celebrate the quarterback.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
Three receivers flashed out to the white takes the shotgun,
snap back to throw, bonds the pocket. He's under pressure,
bounces dow to his right, throws it to the sideline
open is Robinson holds out of a tackle down the
right sideline, puts it inside at.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
The five for the touchdown.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
I like that pace, pace fired.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Up, and there he goes Ondale Robinson six catches eighty
four yards and the score there thirty five yard touchdown
from Jackson Dart seventeen of twenty five one, nine, five
and one. The star of the game with his backflips
and everything else. Camp Scatibo with nineteen ninety eight and
three on the ground, there is no denying him in

(03:09):
short order. And if I had someone and the kool
aid man was not available to run through the wall
for me, camp Scatabo would get the call. I've nicknamed
him the Juggernaut out of the Marvel universe. But Jackson
Dart there was the one big play throwing the football.
But the Giants surprised. We'll get to the other side
of that equation in a minute, Greg But they surprised

(03:32):
the world a bit with a big home respond response
on a Thursday night taking down the Eagles. But Jackson
Dart starting to get a little bit of a folklore
around him.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Yeah, it was a very odd game. The Giants were
very good on third down, and of course third downs
the money down. Dart was really good on third down.
The Eagles, uncharacteristically, there were a number of mistakes on
the defensive side of the football. There were a couple
of big mistakes by the rookie safety Andrew mccouba, who'd
played really, really well since becoming a full time starter

(04:04):
three games ago. In fact, on that Robinson touchdown we
just heard, mccuba seemed a little lost as to what
his responsibility was. It seemed as if he had Robinson
man to man and then he just turned him loose
and he was wide open. And actually that's not where
Dart was looking to go with the ball, but all
of a sudden he popped open. So it was an

(04:26):
odd game in that sense that the Eagles, and you know,
it's funny, things are sort of snowballing for the Eagles,
and we can talk about their offense in a minute.
When your offense is not playing well and now all
of a sudden, your defense, which was number one in
the league a year ago, is making uncharacteristic mistakes, mental
mistakes more than anything, just snowballs and you're not playing well.

(04:46):
But Dart's legs And I thought this when I watched
him play at Ole Miss. A lot of people said
to me that, well, he's not really fast, he's not explosive,
and I just thought to myself, his legs are going
to be a big factor the way in which he plays,
and very often mike for young quarterbacks as they're learning,
because he doesn't see the field really well yet, which

(05:08):
is not a surprise given that he has three NFL starts.
The legs become a big factor because that's the parachute.
You drop back, you don't see it, well, what do
you do your run? Because you know you can do that.
I mean, he had the twenty yard touchdown scramble on
third and eight that ended the first possession. So it's
been a major major factor in his three starts.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Fifty eight yards on the ground, thirteen carries officially, including
that touchdown scamper greg As you mentioned, Jalen Carter scratched
from this game late for the Eagles, obviously a big factor.
When we're talking about that offensive line of the Giants
getting a push Andrew Thomas every time he's healthy, it's
like you can hear the bells, you know, and Angel

(05:51):
gets its wings.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
But you get a little bit of the battering ram that.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Is scatterbo But for Jackson Dart the turn and go
now talked about it a little bit last week. Eventually
I need him to, you know, be a little more cautious, yes, body,
but in the interim it's an exciting brand of football
and to this point highly effective.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Yeah, and again he went into the tent in this game.
I know there was some controversy about it. I certainly
can't speak to that, you know, I'm not a doctor.
But the point is he's been running an awful lot.
He's been taking hits ideally as he plays more Mike
he sees things a little more clearly and settles down
and makes throws and uses his legs when necessary, as

(06:33):
opposed to you know, early on in his thought process. Yeah,
but you know, you me, I was just gonna say,
you mentioned Scatterbow. You know what was really interesting is
he had forty four yards on the final possession. They
got the ball with six minutes and fifty seconds left
and they ran out the clock. When would you think
that would happen against an Eagles defense of Vic Fangio
defense and Scatabo at forty four yards on that final

(06:56):
possession and all five runs, This was really interesting. All
five runs. They had three tight ends on the field,
and they put one of them Bellinger as an I
formation full back, and they just physically mauled the Eagles.
And I think in some ways that was as impressive
to me if you're a Giants fan as what Dart's
been doing. I mean, who would have thought that they

(07:16):
could physically maul the Eagles and control the ball for
the final six minutes and fifty seconds.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Showing my full cinematic nerd there's a line from the
third Batman film in the Christopher Noboy World. Okay, yeah,
the dark Knight rises and you got the super villain
Bane and he's beaten up on Batman and he goes,
I didn't know which would break first, your spirits or
your body.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
That's kind of what we watched with the Eagles, George.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah, there as we watched the imposing of Wills, and
we knew they had a little bit of issues in
the secondary. Right, We've talked about the second cornerback position
and being able to exploit that to a bit.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
And then Mitchell got hurt and only played thirteen the
first thirteen snaps and Quinnon Mitchell then went out. The
Eagles were really in a tough spot at the corner position,
especially when they were in nickel because Degene comes inside
and then they were playing on the outside with the
Dori Jackson and Kilee Ringo.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Yeah, I'd be remiss the visit to the Blue Tent
by Jackson, Dart teammate going in Dable getting over there.
We were alive on Aaron Obviously we don't have any
benefit of any of the sound. We're looking at each
other going he really doesn't want Russell Wilson to play
at all at this point. He's I mean, I know
that's his guy, and that look, that's the guy that's

(08:32):
saving as Bacon to a degree if you believe in
in hot seat theater. But you know that that check
in made it look like a you know, very concerned
father figure in that regard, which I'd love those connections.
So if if that's what it takes, that that's what
we roll up. But a big seventeen point win on
a Thursday night.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
Yeah, and you know, obviously he's created a spark dart
for the for the entire offense. Scatterbow is a guy.
You know, it's funny. We tend to look at backs
and I do a ton, as you know, of evaluating
college players when they come out. I probably do two
hundred to two hundred and fifty guys in great detail.
And you know, Scatabo is a guy that people will say, well,
he's not special because he's not truly explosive. He's not

(09:15):
one of those guys you look at and go whow.
But there's guys in the NFL who can be sustaining
tight backs and depending on the offense, can be really efficient.
And a great example that, for instance, is Kyron Williams
with the Rams. I think a fourth or fifth round
pick when he came out of Notre Dame. I guarantee
there's not one person in the league that thought he'd
be a true feature back. He had over three hundred

(09:38):
carries a year ago and he's, you know, clearly the
number one back for the Rams, and it works. Scatibo
can be that physical, tough, competitive, urgent runner and he
keeps you on schedule. That's the kind of back he is.
He gets all the hard yards.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Mike, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
And there's something to be said for just the emotion
of the game. We know is you know, it's sixty minutes.
Can you ride that for a full season? I don't know,
we're gonna find out, but certainly there's a lot of
juice on that side of the ball. They come out
not only in the stands, but everybody's sitting up a
little bit closer to the edge of their seats at home,
waiting to see what those two are going to be next.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
And that's good for business, that's good for New York.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
We'll talk about the other side of the New York
New Jersey connection and what they need to do today
in a minute, but let's go back to the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
I'm starting to see comparisons.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Folks are already projecting that Jalen Hurts is getting going
to begin his Russell Wilson era sooner. Oh boy, which
is I'm like, wow, whoa, whoa, he got carried, He
got carried, and now he's left on his own devices.
You've got Greg Peterson raised his hand or Doug Peterson,
I should say, raised his hand going, I'll come back
if they need me as a consultant.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Yeah, I saw that.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Wow, that's just crazy. Gray.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
Yeah, you know, I think, to be honest, everything starts
with their offensive line. It has, and we're so used
to just assuming it's very good Mike, and we may
have talked about the last week as well, but it's
worth repeating. You know, for the last two three years
it's probably been the best O line in the league,
and it's been the dominant force of their team, not

(11:10):
just the offense, but the team. It controlled games, it
was physical, it mauled people. This year, quite frankly, it's
probably been a bottom third offensive line in the league. Injuries,
some players who are not playing well. There's a little
bit of a concern that Lane Johnson, who I think
is thirty four or thirty five years old, is sort

(11:31):
of starting that slight decline. He has not played as well.
The left tackle Jordan Mayalotta, has not played well. Dickerson's hurt.
Cam Jurgens has freely admitted that he's not one hundred
percent coming off offseason back surgery. It's not been a
good offensive line, so the run game has been problematic. Now,
we've heard a lot of talk this week about predictability.

(11:54):
I'm not necessarily a big believer in that. I would
argue they were probably pretty predictable last year in the
fact that they lined up and they gave the ball
to Barkley. There's not one thousand running plays, Mike. Now, granted,
can you juice them up a little with different formations
and motions. Sure, But the end of the day, there's
not a thousand runs. So you're going to line up

(12:14):
and you run the ball, and there's a physical element
to it. They're not a gimmick running team. They line
up and they give the ball to Barkley. I mean,
I'll give you a great example. The second play of
the third quarter. Okay, games close, it's twenty to seventeen.
Looks like a really competitive ball game. They're going to
run counter out of the shotgun. So the right guard

(12:34):
stem is the puller and he's responsible to kick out
Cavon Thibodeau. Well he misses his block. Now, if he
makes that block, Okay, if he makes that block, it
allows the tight end grants and to get up to
the second level and then it's Barkley on the deep
safety holland, Okay, we could be looking at an eighty
seven yard touchdown because rarely does the safety filling tackle

(12:58):
Saquon Barkley. Imagine if he made that block and he
runs eighty seven yards for a touchdown. Are we talking
about the predictability of the Eagles offense. Probably not. There's
so many examples of that where blocks are just not made.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
Yeah, we talked about those plays, and then there's one
deep shot to DeVante Smith that you know, the prototypical
I'd like to have that one back throw from Hertz.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
So yeah, there was a lot on that play too,
by the way, because that's one of those things where
you know Smith was on a go route and that
was actually the very next play after the play I
just spoke about. That also could have been an eighty
seven yard touchdown. Smith released inside of the corner Cordell
flot and then tried to angle back outside, and Hurts

(13:43):
threw the ball technically where it was supposed to be,
which is about four yards from the sideline, but Smith
could not get back to that spot. But the question
becomes Hurts was kind of looking at Smith when he
threw the ball, so he knew where he was. And
I think in the NFL, well, when a receiver is
that open vertically, I think you have to make that throw.

(14:04):
I think it's always easy to say, well, you know,
Hurts kind of through it where he should, which he
really did if you go by how it's taught. But
when a receiver's open like that and you're looking at him,
I think you got to make that throw.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (14:16):
Difficult spot for there, for that particular, because it just
fuels the.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Narrative, yeah, right, good, bad, and different.

Speaker 2 (14:25):
It just fuels the disconnect and the lack of cohesion
that we've seen thus far out of the passing game
twenty four to thirty three, two eighty three one and
one fine seven for thirteen on the ground, Giants did
a good job of containing him on the ground, which
is something they the Eagles bank on. That elusiveness that

(14:46):
we've seen with you know, Jackson Dart on the other side.

Speaker 3 (14:50):
Look, the bottom line is this is an offense that
is truly built on the run game with Barkley and
with Hurts as a part of it. If they cannot
run the ball effectively. Jalen Hurts has particular strengths, but
he is not a quarterback you can lean on as
the foundation of your offense. He's not that guy. You
can't ask him to drop back forty times. He's not

(15:11):
a natural timing and anticipation thrower. There are certain route
concepts they don't run because they don't feel that he
can make those kinds of throws. Now, I will say this,
I think Kevin Petula, who's a rookie offensive coordinator for them,
I don't think that there's a lot of really strong
spacing and choreography in their past game which would really

(15:32):
help define the reeds and the throws for Jalen Hurts.
You don't see a lot of that on tape, and
I think that that's something they've really got to work
on because it really needs to be defined for Jalen
because he's much more of a see it throw at
quarterback as opposed to a timing anticipation thrower.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Back to back weeks, we saw limited Barkley eighteen total
carries in their last two games.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
And you know, it's funny. They started the game with
two Barkley carries and they were huge yards.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Yeah, like thirty.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
I guess those plays weren't predictable, huh.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
No, first run play, no.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Never, never predictable.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
After the Giants botched the opening kickoff right the landing zone,
right right to play, and then Barkley rips off that
eighteen yard I'm like, oh, here we go.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
And by the way, the next play, another big run.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
And by the way, on the second possession, they came
back to the exact same run that they started the
game with. Okay, the eighteen yarder, and on the second
time they ran it. On the second possession, Maya Lotta
missed his block. He was beaten inside by by Burns
and it became a three yard loss if Mayolotta makes

(16:40):
that block. Barkley was cleaned to the safety nube and
ten yards off the ball. So another example of just
a missed block. So, you know, I think it's always
easy to say predictability, particularly for running teams. You know,
we always we rarely think about passing teams Mike right
and think they're predictable. But we think that way with
running teams.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Well, I did last year with the Bears, because the
throwing lane was five yards behind the line of scrimmage
in five yards.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
In front of it.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Your fandom is showing once again, your fandom is showing.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
And that's okay. Hey, you got forty.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
You're allowed to be a fan. You're allowed to be
a fan.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
That's why we get into this business.

Speaker 3 (17:15):
Grant.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
That's all said.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
None, right, And as soon as folks start disavowing all
of those things, I'm like, wait a minute, what am
I talking about here? He's great co sell at Greg
co cell where you find him in the Twitter verse

Speaker 2 (18:58):
Welcome back in Fox Foot Well Sunday, Fox Sports Radio.
Blessed to be with you here once again Brianna and
Mark making it sound so pretty from me on the
other side of the glass. So we get ready for
Week six of your National Football League season, coming off
of a crazy week in college football, some upsets, some

(19:18):
upset people, some officials who are probably going to get
all sorts of notes from their league offices, but that
is par for the course as we get ready for
a big slate that'll culminate with a dual Monday night
affair Buffalo in Atlanta and then the Bears and Washington.
Last time we saw that, we saw Jaden Daniels and
the Hail Mary that was nowhere near the end zone,

(19:40):
but it found the end zone anyway, leading to what
became a catastrophic second half of a year for the
Chicago Bears. But we pushed that aside. We'll get to
that game in due time. Denver and the Jets later
on today. Forty one and a half is the total
as we get ready for this game overseas, taking a
advantage of some of the early travel schedules, so getting acclimated,

(20:04):
doing all the touristy stuff, shaking hands, kissing babies, all
of that. That's about as That's about as good as
I can put it for what the Jets were able
to do.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
At least the pregame.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
Of it all has been great, Greg, but zero to
five thus far and really trying to find an identity.
Breise Hall at times has been electric. Garrett Wilson is
subject to whatever Justin Fields can bring on a game
to game basis, and defensively as a whole, not not
the squad you're used to. So they've got Denver and

(20:38):
bo Nicks and Sean Payton to deal with today. What
are you seeing from bow Nicks in year two?

Speaker 3 (20:46):
Yeah, I thought he got off to a tough start
this year. I thought early in the season, Mike that
he was a little frenetic in the pocket. At times,
I almost thought he invented pressure. He would drop back
and he'd break down and there'd be no one around him.
And when the picture was a little out for him,
he became really hesitant. But I thought over the last
three weeks, he's played significantly better. He's starting just to

(21:07):
appear more comfortable. I mean, we talked about the Eagles
defense in the first segment, and that's the last game
they played against the Eagles, and in the second half
he was very, very good. I mean against what we
always believe is a very good Eagles defense With Vic Fangio,
he was fourteen for eighteen fo one hundred and sixty
three yards. I mean, he was phenomenal. In the fourth quarter.

(21:29):
He made a great throw on third and fifteen. I
mean that throw was a really strong timing anticipation throw
against zone coverage, the kind of throws you have to
make against zone. He seems to be settling in and
becoming more comfortable. You know, I think we forget sometimes
we see a lot of guys play well as rookies,
and we just assume that the arrow's pointing way way up.

(21:53):
You know, you know, you've been doing this a long time.
You know that defenses they study these guys, they understand
Sean Payton's offense. He's been around for a long time,
and then they just devise plans that just make it
a little more difficult. And then the quarterback has to
figure it out. I remember a coach telling me, a
guy who coached in the league for thirty years and
coach some of the great quarterbacks in this league, telling

(22:15):
me that one of the things you really have to
find out with a young quarterback is what answers he
can find on his own as he plays, you know,
And I think that's a big thing with young quarterbacks.
You know, obviously you coach them all week. You can
coach them during the game when they come to the
sideline and say, hey, what are we getting, what are
we looking at? But when all said and done, they've

(22:36):
got to find some answers on their own, and I
think that's a major part of their development as young players.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
We saw it in the fourth quarter. You mentioned the stats,
eighteen to nothing, the final on the scoreboard for the
fourth quarter to give Denver that big lead. Be remiss,
you know, talking about this offense, Courtland Sutton's all world
and you're starting to see the rest of that receiving
crew pack the packing order bear out with Troy Franklin,

(23:03):
Evan Ingram healthy four for thirty three in a score
last week, three catches for r J.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
Harvey. That's important because he only had four carries. JK.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Banns is that guy that the brothers Harball had always
talked about. They always loved him, and now he's just
been an absolute beast for Denver.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
Yeah. No, he's been running really well. I'm glad you
mentioned Sutton because you know there were two big plays
in that fourth quarter that was just purely matchup football.
It was fade routes versus one of the best corners
in the league in Quinnon. Mitchell and Nix and Sutton
won those two matchups and Mitchell was right there, but
it was just good on good and Nix and Sutton won.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
Eight for ninety nine last year for Sutton, one of
the best players. Good to see him get his due.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
And get a little bit of run.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
The other thing is looking at the target sheet, and
we saw this across a lot of box scores last week. Greg,
as you go through the film and they're like, wow,
that's another receiver. That's another guy stepping up. No fewer
than ten ten targeted players from neck Nicks a week ago.
And seeing that, as I dare try to speak it
into existence that we're trending towards just spreading the ball

(24:14):
around a little bit more as opposed to the myopia
of I'm just going to force feed one or two guys.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Yeah, and again, the past game involves a couple of things.
One is matchup football, where you can attack a particular
player with your best receiver. But then the other thing
about the past game is sort of choreography and concepts
and spacing. And you know, I think that that's ultimately
if you're getting more zone coverage that becomes more important.

(24:41):
Then it's not really matchup football per se. It's your
route concepts and your route combinations and how you create
the spacing so the looks are more defined for the quarterback.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Now we look at the Jets on the other hand, outside.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
We have to I gotta give it a minute. I
got it, fair like, literally, it's a minute. How long
did they win last.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
Well? The amazing thing is they've got no turnovers on defense,
I believe after five games, which is that's a tough
way to play. It's a really tough way to play.
And the thing is, I don't think they have bad
personnel on defense. And I'm being totally honest with you,
I don't know what the issue is. I really you'd
almost have to be there to know. Look, I think
Aaron Glenn is a very very good coach. Now, obviously

(25:25):
it's totally different being a decoordinator versus being a head coach.
In Detroit, he didn't have to set the tempo for
the whole team. There's probably no better head coach in
the league of doing that than Dan Campbell for a team,
and Aaron Glenn did not have to do that. Now
it's totally different. But you know, it's hard for me
to understand they're not getting necessarily blown out. It's just

(25:47):
we'll see what happens. I mean, I'm certainly not comparing
Aaron Glenn to Joe Gibbs. Okay, I don't want people
to think that, But Joe Gibbs his first season with Washington,
he was zero and five to start. And again, I
don't want people to think I'm making an apples to
apples comparison.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
No, I'd have to cut out a couple of words
in posts and.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
Yeah, yeah exactly, Hey we'd go viral Greg and there
we go.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
But you look at the way this rosters come together
right now.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
The only defense giving up more points the beleaguered Baltimore Raven.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
Yeah, that's the interesting thing to me, And I, like
I said, I don't have a brilliant answer for that,
and I'm just being honest.

Speaker 5 (26:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
No, Well, we'll see how how it bears out.

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Like Rome wasn't built in the day, sometimes you don't
get the quick and easy results to it all. But
certainly a lot of rumors swirling about their backfield. Right
they lose Braileen Allen to the injury. Yeah, it was
supposed to be part of a sledgehammer one two with Bryce.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Hall and Halls look good, Mike Halls look good.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Yeah, I mean his name is starting to be bandied
about in some of the trade discussions because we had
three this week. So whether we see another flurry of those,
it's curious, you know what, We'll get to the game
as a whole. But the other guy that Gott mentioned
in a couple of reports I was seeing was Derrick
Henry given his last last couple of weeks, Yeah, struggling

(27:02):
and struggling with ball security. And where Baltimore is with
Lamar Jackson probably out at least one more week that
perhaps they look to sell. I mean, we talked about
Keaton Mitchell a couple of weeks ago, like they had
him in mouth shut. Waiting to unleash him or trade
him just becomes a question of which offers a better
bounty in the open market.

Speaker 3 (27:22):
I guess what when when does the trade deadline end?
I don't know, Vember fourth, I believe. Oh so we
still have a ways to go here.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
Yeah, so some of these teams making those proactive moves,
sure right away?

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Well why don't why don't we get to let's rip
that band aid off? Joe Flacco is going to go
quarterback to steady Bengals today. There are fourteen point dogs
on the road at Green Bay. Forty four and a
half is the total here. Look, Jamar Chase did everything
he could as a one man band, and Browning still
had a couple of throws that were pretty incredible, but

(27:55):
he built them and dug them such a hole there
was no coming back. So Joe Flacco goes there. Does
this mean we get more Chase brown and t Higgins
in our futures?

Speaker 3 (28:04):
I mean, the one thing about Flacco is he will
always throw the football. He's not a risk averse thrower.
He will target Chase and Higgins, There's no question about that.
I don't know how much run game, they'll do. I
mean they may feel that they need to do that.
Their defense has been very, very up and down. You know,
you need to try to control the pace and tempo

(28:26):
of the game when your defense is not very good,
because you don't want your defense playing seventy plays. See
that's the thing. It's the defense. How many plays do
they play? And then it's a problem. Then it becomes
a big problem if they have to play too many plays.
So we'll see. But Joe, look, you know we love
Joe because he will throw the football, There's no question

(28:47):
about that.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
Yeah, he's a guy. I loved this quote from earlier
this week. We played it in as a full minute clip,
but just talking about how much he still loves.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
Playing the game of football.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Oh yeah, he keeps going to remind her because you know,
we were on in the evenings and there's lots of
crazy stuff that happens in our world and over the
course of the day, and we try to bring that
veritable pope ree Jason Smith and I together. We had
sister Jean Right one hundred and six years old, and
the chaplain over at Loola Chicago became a big deal.
During March Madness who was working up until like the

(29:20):
final weeks of her run, didn't start her job at
Looel until she was over seventy right, right, one of
those hey find what you love doing and just keep going.

Speaker 3 (29:29):
Well, just to finish the point, the Bengals, let's put
the Giants and Eagles aside, because they've played the extra game.
They played six games. Of the teams that have played
the most defensive snaps, a stat that's rarely looked at,
but it's really really important, the two teams that have
played the most defensive snaps through five games are the
Ravens and the Bengals. And that's a problem, you know.

(29:52):
It's just you can't play that many snaps and be
a good defense. It just gets very very hard.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Now we play our chicken in the egg right, trying
to figure out We came into the year wondering how
good and I think good in like italics, the offensive
line could be even with Joe Burrow upright under center,
yep right, and so your run game has sputtered when
you've tried to use it and you can't control clock, down, distance,

(30:19):
et cetera. And defensively, they re upped Henderson, they gave
him that extra fourteen million.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
For the year.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
But for the rest of that squad, you're going, it's
him and what else do you have defensively, So it's
you know, trying to juggle a little bit as you're
going through playing with knives right, catching falling knives.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
Yeah, and they're playing a lot of young players at corner,
so it's still a work in progress. There's one young
player I really like on their defense. He's a rookie
from South Carolina to Metrious Night, the linebacker, and he's
been playing almost every snap. But this defense is still
a work in progress.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
A lot of snaps the other side of the ball,
Green Bay coming out of their bye week, Yeah, we've
seen them play some big time foot We've seen some
head scratching moments on the defensive side of things. But
I got to imagine with the bye week, it's again
healthy right as well as all right.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
There's Joe Flacker.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
He doesn't move much left or right, just getting no no.

Speaker 3 (31:13):
And you know that game a couple of weeks ago
against Dallas where they gave up forty was kind of
a surprise to me because their defense had been playing
exceptionally well and obviously that game My sense is it'll
be an aberration kind of games, just one of those.
I like their defense a lot. I think they've got
a lot of really strong elements. I love what Jeff

(31:34):
Hafley does in terms of his pressure concepts. They stunt
a ton. They're always one of the highest percentage stunt
teams up front. They do a really good job with that,
creating opportunities for both penetrators and loopers. I would imagine
that they'll continue to get better. The only concern you
may have with them is at the corner position on

(31:56):
the outside, and that's a legit.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
Concern, certainly for this week when you're contending with Jase
and Higgins and with the guy in Joe Claco I mentioned,
you know, the the speech.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
He gave you have to talking about love of the game. Whatever.
We do know he loves to throw.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
The football, oh for sure, tendue to keep pushing down
field and go back to that run he had with
Cleveland a couple of years ago. Yeah, he's gonna put
it in harm's way, but he's going to make some
big plays. And if you're Jamar Chase, your eyes are
wide at the possibilities and.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
You know what Mike. He may have the best case
of amnesia for any quarterback we've seen in recent years.
Whatever happens on the play before he moves on to
the next He could throw three bed balls in a row,
and you know the fourth throw is he's just turning
it loose again. That's what he's Yeah, yeah, that's the
way he plays.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
I have used that phraseology the memory of a cornerback
with all with everything in our lives right next play,
I gotta match up with you again.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
I can't. I can't worry about what just happened.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
Joe lives in the moment. He lives for each each play.
What happened previously is gone from his mind. It's been
a race. You know.

Speaker 2 (32:57):
I need he and Klais Campbell to keep playing. For
two guys from the two thousand and eight draft class.
Keep going, guys.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
Yeah that is crazy.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
Make me feel younger, Greg, no question about it.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
At Greg co Sell where you find him in the
Twitter verse, Find me over at Swollen Dome, the NFL

Football Sunday, Fox Sports Radio. As we continue a late scratch,
we'll give us our forty fourth starting quarterback in this

(34:16):
Young NFL campaign. Who is it and what do we
expect that's next? Here on Fox Football Sunday. Welcome back
in Fox Sports Radios, Fox Football Sunday, Mike Carmen alongside
Greg co South. Thanks for being with us here on
a beautiful Week six early morning. Remember a game kicking
off in about forty five minutes from now Denver and
the New York Football Jets getting after it over at

(34:39):
Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium in London, and then a little letting
it later on Greg as we get ready for this slate,
Jacoby Burssett break glass case of emergency. By my rudimentary
math skills. That's quarterback number forty four to start a
game this year. We're gonna get to sixty. Boy, we're
gonna get to sixty. But facing up against those Indianapolis Colts,

(35:02):
be remiss we didn't at least do the quick look back.
As you've watched a lot of film, You've watched a
lot of games. Have you ever watched a game like
that from the Arizona Cardinals and not think that you've
turned on Shutter or one of those channels not such
nothing but horror films.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
I mean, unfortunately, we've seen this too many times where
players just drop the ball before they get to the
end zone. I don't know what to say to about that.
It's just stupid. I mean, what more can you say?
Of course, then they had the interception, which then was
recovered in the end zone by Tennessee. But cam Ward
still had to make plays in the second half, and
he had a very very good second half. He was

(35:44):
sixteen for twenty three for two h seven just in
the second half alone against a normally good Arizona defense,
by the way, and he made some big time throws
war did in that game.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
Starting to look a little bit like that guy that
well was drafted first overall. A couple of bit games
for him here, biggest yardage output twenty one of thirty nine.
Pushed that aside. It was what happened late in leading. Yeah,
comeback effort as Arizona left that door open. Now Kyler
Murray after practicing a bit and they said he.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
Moved all right on Friday.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
But it looks like Jacoby Brissett's going to get the
start today. We've been down this path.

Speaker 3 (36:22):
Before, yeah, we have. They're playing a really good team too.
I mean, Indianapolis's offense has been so so good, and
you know, I think that this is a classic case
to me, of just a great marriage between the coach
and the quarterback. I mean, Shane Steichen has done such
a good job in my view, and I've seen every game,

(36:43):
every play all season on first down and normal down
in distant situations, Mike, He's given Jones what you'd call
base concepts. But what it does is it presents clean
and defined reads and it allows Jones to play with
timing and rhythm and get the ball out on time
and get completions. The one thing you don't see with

(37:03):
Daniel Jones this year, which you saw all the time
when he was with the Giants, is he's not getting
stuck in the pocket. The ball is coming out. He
has the most first down passing yards of any quarterback
in the NFL and the fourth most dropbacks on first down,
because first down is the best down to throw.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Mix and match that with Jonathan Taylor doing his thing
leading the league and rushing. Here's your top five rushers
through five weeks of the season. Tell me if this
makes a lot of sense. Taylor, Cook, Javonte Williams, who
doesn't get enough credit there.

Speaker 3 (37:36):
With I agree.

Speaker 1 (37:36):
In Dallas, you.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
Got Travis etn and then you got the aforementioned JK.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
Dobbins.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
We previewed him about him a little bit before. But
for Jonathan Taylor, I mean, he gets to help set
the tone.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
And we've been talking.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
About Ballard and wondering, you know, with that roster that
every year it's like, all right, they've got the roster,
but it was the mix and match at the quarterback position,
seemingly going all the way back to when Andrew Luck
walked away. Sure, they've been wishing and wandering trying to
find that guy, including a couple of retreads including yeah,
afore mentioned Joe Flacco and I got the word aforementioned
and again, so I'll put it in.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
I like it.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
I like it. Well, I gotta. I gotta make myself
look like I know what I'm doing.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
I feel like I need a number two pencil to
take my SAT test.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
Now, Well, I gotta I gotta pay. That's how I
pay off the Northwestern loans.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
Well there you go.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
Yeah, I paid a lot into it.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
So I got to use big words to make myself
look like I actually attended a class.

Speaker 3 (38:29):
Uh but uh, but I had. The cults have been
just a lot of fun to watch an offense four.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Yeah, and you're spreading the ball around. Tyler Warren's the
leading receiver for tight ends thus far, so mixing and matching.
For Daniel Jones, it's just I guess he's the latest
example of the if you hang around long enough, you'll
find the system and coach that you communicate with.

Speaker 3 (38:51):
Well, well, you know what we spoke about this last week,
but it's worth just coming again very briefly, is how
the system and how you're taught. But it's really for
ninety nine percent of quarterbacks, that's what it's all about.
There's very very few transcendent players. We like to think
certain guys are, but the end of the day, it's
more about how they're taught, the scheme, what's presented to them.

(39:14):
That's when they can really look efficient and play with
great timing.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
Currently third in the NFL at twelve hundred and ninety
passing yards eight point six yards per attempt at this
point getting it done, one of the leaders in ye
air yards as well. What's funny, though, Grey is you
know we do the full stats thing. Remember he had
a pretty good year a couple of years ago, is
what three touchdowns per interception, but it was dismissed because he.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
Didn't have thirty.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
Yeah, and I'm wondering how much that gets pushed away
or if we just embrace the narrative as a collective
media this time around, because the ws are attached.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
Well, he's been great on third down as well, and
that's you know, he's had twenty six third down completions
nineteen Mike have resulted in first downs. That's the key
that when you look at third down completions, how many
produce first downs? And he's been phenomenal with.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
That, doing a great job thus far. Big favorites today,
touchdown favorites with Arizona and Jacoby Brissett coming to town.
We got a full hour still to go, a lot
of big games, big names to pre You at Greg
Coast Cell where you find him in Twitter, Find me
over at Swollen do more Fox Football Sunday next here
on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (40:24):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
Greetings, Welcome in another hour Fox Football Sunday Talk TikTok, TikTok,
thirty minutes till kickoff Broncos and Jets from London. So
get those fantasy lineups and your picks in as you
need to toggle away. Welcome man, I'm Mike Carbon alongside
me Greg coast Cell each and every week two hours
of breaking down what's been on film and what we

(40:50):
see as a team moving forward. A lot of quarterback shuffling.
As you heard Dan Byer's update, they're preparing for Jacoby
Brissett to go in air Arizona. He may start a
number forty four on this young season. Two games featuring
teams with records better than five hundred, that's where we're
at at this point of the year. But the Dolphins

(41:11):
have already popped their champagne for that undefeated season from
all those years ago. Welcome into another hour as Week
six unfolds. One game in the books, the Giants and
the Eagles that seems like a lifetime ago, between that
marathon baseball game and a full slate of college football.
So here we are ready to rev it up again. Greg,
the already get working into a ladder as we get

(41:34):
ready for bow Nicks against Justin Fields and the chicanery
of a day to come.

Speaker 3 (41:40):
Yeah, it's what we're about a half hour away. That's
it for Sunday Morning Football. This isn't the last one,
is it? Is there another one next week?

Speaker 1 (41:48):
I'm not sure what the schedule is on the rest
of the international slate.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
Here, Yeah, I'm looking right now. Let's see so week seven, No,
there's not one next week.

Speaker 1 (41:58):
There you go. So it goes back to you.

Speaker 3 (41:59):
Yeah, there is, there is, there is. It's a RAMS
at Jacksonville. Excuse me, it's the last one. I think.
So that's at Wembley.

Speaker 1 (42:07):
There you go. I think maybe we can do that's.

Speaker 3 (42:09):
Actually a big game, by the way, based on the
way things are going.

Speaker 2 (42:12):
Well, that's it, right, we're jumping off here. We're talking
about we talked a lot about the Colts. Let's talk
about those Jaguars for a minute, and we talk about
the run game and certainly for Travis etn in company
getting it done. Liam Cohen in his first year, another
guy who didn't win the opening presser when he tried
to say Duval didn't go over so well, right, But

(42:34):
trying to bring out the best in this roster. We
look at last week's game, just a chaotic finish, and
certainly for Trevor Lawrence. Trevor Lawrence and not necessarily with
his arms, but he got it done on the ground,
becoming the latest big time player in that regard.

Speaker 3 (42:53):
Trevor under center.

Speaker 1 (42:55):
He cliply fell down.

Speaker 3 (42:56):
Tremor fell down on the plane.

Speaker 7 (42:58):
Don't play run up. I gotta take us any.

Speaker 2 (43:17):
Jaguars radio network on the call if you couldn't tell,
look like a baby giraffe, stumbling, bumbling. But he got
there for the second time in the game. Ten carries
fifty four yards, two touchdowns on the ground, efficient through
the air, greg eighteen of draw twenty five against the Chiefs,
and and a bit of a stunner in a thirty
one to twenty eight final minute dramatic comeback win.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Yeah, and you know it's funny. Lawrence's legs are a
big deal. You know, I don't think a lot of
people think of him that way. It's actually been a
pretty important part of their offense, both by design. I
mean they feature him in the design quarterback run game
in specific situations quite a bit. Zone reads, quarterback sweep.
He's got great size, he's got mobility. He's an excellent

(44:01):
scrambler when he has to do that, so he can
beat you with his legs. He scored a touchdown an
earlier touchdown in that game on a scramble as well,
so you know that's and he made that great throw
late in the game, the thirty three yarder on third
and seven to Brian Thomas on the winning touchdown drive.
I mean, he couldn't have handed it to him any better.
But you know, the guy that I think, really I

(44:24):
think is worth mentioning is their decoordinator, Anthony Campanelli, who,
by the way, is a Jersey guy, so first year
coordinator there. I think he's doing a great job in
terms when I watch their tape, they're not necessarily a
high percentage blitz team, and their stats other than the
turnovers are not great. But he does such a good

(44:44):
job with his pressure concepts. When he does decide to pressure,
whether it's four man which we call sim pressures or
five man, what he does he does such a good
job of understanding protections and attacking them. I mean, do
such a good job with that. And that's really what
it's about. You know, you don't want to just randomly attack.

(45:06):
You want to understand how a team protects, and then
you pretty much set your front, including your second level defenders,
based on hey, here's how I know they're going to
protect this look, and now then I know how to
break it down.

Speaker 2 (45:20):
Jacksonville plus eight in the turnover differential department, fourteen takeaways already,
and then they went into the marketplace. This is where
I get the obligatory. Hey, there's a Northwestern guy in
the NFL in Greg Newsom, coming over from Cleveland to
help bolster the secondary, and reports are that they're not done,
that They're still going to look to Yeah, to bolster
that side of the ball.

Speaker 3 (45:41):
Interesting trade because the Jaguars are more of his own
based coverage defense than man based, and their feeling was
that Newsom is a much better zone corner than Tyson Campbell,
who's better at man coverage and struggles in zone. So
I think the feeling was that that Newsom just fits
their scheme better, and he probably does because he's a

(46:02):
better zone corner than Campbell is.

Speaker 2 (46:04):
Now you mentioned the big pass play to Brian Thomas.
There's a guy certainly early in the season drop issues.
By my quick research, seventeen is what they've been gifted with.
I guess in the stat column because I think I
counted more watching those games, but seventeen official drops thus
far by Jacksonville Thomas with a bunch of those off

(46:27):
the rightm just sixteen catches on thirty eight targets thus far.

Speaker 3 (46:32):
Yeah, which is not a good percentage. But obviously in
that critical situation they did go to him. Now, again,
the coverage dictated that he go to him because that
was see that often happens. I mean, you can always say, hey,
let's throw it to this guy. Sure, and people might
think seeing that play, oh, well, you went to your
best guy. But what happened on that play is when

(46:53):
Trevor Lawrence saw the safety to that side of the
field turn his body to the inside, he knew that
he had Thomas one on one. So that became the throw.
It wasn't you know, if obviously the safety didn't do that,
then he might have thrown it somewhere else. But Lawrence
read that perfectly. Not that it was a difficult read
because you're always looking at safeties first. But it was

(47:14):
a great throw and Thomas Thomas won and he just
put it right over the top. Like I said, he couldn't.
He couldn't have handed it to him any better.

Speaker 2 (47:21):
Now we get a huge game there, it's Jacksonville at Seattle.

Speaker 1 (47:26):
Yeah, we look at what Sam Darnold was a week ago.

Speaker 2 (47:28):
A lot of big throws in time mobility and plays downfield.
Tough loss thirty eight thirty five, but playing playing well
and still rounding out that receiving cores looking more like
Horton will become more of a number two option for them.
The run game has been pretty good. Banged up on defense,
I guess that's the one. Yeah, big question for Seattle

(47:50):
coming into this bat heavyweight.

Speaker 3 (47:52):
Bout sure that that is a question. Witherspoon will be
out again, I don't know what. I think Rip Woollen
might be out as well. I know he got a
concussion last week. So now they're working through to the
depth chart at the corner position, which is always an
issue in the NFL. But you hit it. Darnold's been
very very good this year, really really good. And again

(48:15):
it's just it's just a sense of playing with decisiveness
and that's where the scheming of the pass game really
comes into play. When your quarterback can hit his back
foot and pretty much feel like, hey, I know where
I'm going with the football. It's cleaned for me. And
that's happening more than not with this past game. And

(48:35):
you know, you may remember when they signed Cooper Cup,
you know, back in whenever they signed him, what did
a lot of people say, oh, I don't understand that
because they've got a slot receiver in Jason Jackson Smith
and Jigba. But the bottom line is that they knew
that Smith and Jigba could play outside. He's lined up
as the outside receiver on seventy five percent of his

(48:55):
offensive snaps. So this is not a case where they
signed Cup having another slot. They knew what Smith and
Jigbit could be in the league, and that's exactly the
way it's played out.

Sports Radio. Big matchup down in Miami later on today
the Chargers. I still want to know what happened with
the brothers Harball. What deal did they lose that they're
so They're squads are so injury riddled at this point
in the season, and it seems like both at XCISE
the exercised those demons in the past, but they come
back in big order. For the Chargers, they're calling around

(49:46):
trying to find able bodied running backs. Nahim Heines has
to be activated for this one. But I think the
more interesting side is Miami, and they got out to
a great start last week week before it faded again
the last last gasp effort. But we know it'll be
eighty plus degrees down there, warm and an opportunity, not

(50:09):
that it's been cold here in Los Angeles, mind you,
so not quite the same advantage that you might get
somewhere else in these early season games, Greg. But for
the Dolphins, you know you have that pass from Tua
to eight chan. I highlight it only because one it
was a great catch and to the broadcasters said, I
don't even think Tyreek Hill could do that better, Like, oh,

(50:30):
I don't know that you needed to drag him into this.

Speaker 1 (50:32):
But that's fine.

Speaker 2 (50:34):
But for Tua in company, we've talked about him having
to play on time to make those throws. Any improvement
as we're getting towards the midpoint of the season.

Speaker 3 (50:45):
I mean, I think Tua is what he is, and
I think that's not going to change dramatically. It's just
the way he has to play in order to be
an effective player. I think defensively is where they've had
a lot of concerns, and you know, they've got the
second year coordinator and Andy Weaver, and there's only so
much you can do. Their corner position has really been

(51:05):
a little bit of an issue due to injury, just
due to the personnel they have. And in this league,
if your corner position is you're trying to patch it together,
then it's really difficult to play because then what happens.
And the reason that's tough, Mike is not just because
you don't have great players, but then you feel as
a coordinator you're limited in your playbook because the last

(51:26):
thing you want to do is put corners playing man
coverage outside. You know, when you don't feel they can cover.
So now what do you do with your pressures? You
pretty much feel like I need seven in coverage, I
can only rush for I can't get to a lot
of my pressure schemes that I'd really like to. So
it really impacts your play calling ability and it limits

(51:47):
your playbook.

Speaker 2 (51:48):
Got to be able to win at the lote of
scrimmage with that what natural pressure, right?

Speaker 1 (51:53):
Not bringing the extra man as you go on the
other side for the Chargers.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
Talk about the walking wounded here, Yeah, down both tackles.
Quentin Johnson's got a hammy that's probably going to keep
him out game time.

Speaker 3 (52:05):
I think he's been there already.

Speaker 1 (52:06):
He's out.

Speaker 2 (52:08):
You're looking at that. Talk about the running back position,
Omarion Hampton. I had started to step up as a
runner and receiver. Yeah, down there and Herbert taking hits
at an alarming rate. Well, how do you stop the bleeding?

Speaker 3 (52:24):
Yeah, that's the problem is you were thinking that, Okay,
that Hampton. You know, once Harris went down, Hampton would
become the feature back, which he's more than capable of
being given the style he is as a runner. But
now he's out for whatever. I guess they put him
on IRR. So it's at least four weeks. So right
now the two main backs are Hassan Haskins and Kamani Vidal.

(52:45):
I know they brought up Hines as you said, but
you know, they really need to be able to run
the ball because that old line is just not good
enough on the edges and you can't throw the ball
by choice forty times because Herbert is just he's gonna
get beat up. As big and strong as he is
and as good as he is, if you can't protect,

(53:07):
it's just hard to ask your quarterback to drop back
forty times. So they're in a little bit of a dilemma.
I'm curious, you know. Again, this will be an interesting
game against obviously a defense that has not been great
this year. But they're to me, they're gonna have to
find a way to run the football to have it
at least be meaningful. Now, does that mean they're gonna
have thirty five carries? Probably not, but it has to

(53:29):
be meaningful and it has to have some kind of
sustaining element.

Speaker 2 (53:33):
Chargers still a road favorite in this one as we
wait for the next great interview and postgame session with
Mike McDaniel.

Speaker 1 (53:40):
He's great co sell at Great Coselle.

Speaker 2 (53:42):
Where you find an NFL matchup is the show forty
six years NFL film.

Speaker 1 (53:47):
He's one of my favorites to watch.

Speaker 2 (53:48):
He's one of the most interesting guys we've got in
this sport, and eventually he's going to be a great
offensive coordinator and analyst somewhere somehow. Unless they can turn
this thing around, that's wall and know him is where
you find me, and I'll of course catch Greg every
Thursday one pm Eastern with Colin Coward for that fifteen
to twenty minutes.

Speaker 1 (54:08):
Of gold as they go through the film. There you go.
Anything else you want to sell?

Speaker 3 (54:12):
Do I want to sell? No? I just I enjoyed
your comedy there on. Mike McDaniel.

Speaker 2 (54:17):
You know, hey, you know they had a clip from
last week, Raick. I defy you to pick out three,
you know, words that made any sense.

Speaker 3 (54:25):
I just want to say this real quick. I got
a chance to talk to Mike McDaniel in detail a
number of years ago at an event on the West
Coast with a lot of coaches present. And he's a
fascinating guy to talk to. I mean, just the way
he knows football and the run game. He's and again
that's his thing. He's considered a savant when it comes
to the run game. And he's really fascinating to talk to.

Speaker 2 (54:45):
Yeah, No, when he gets going in an interview session,
when he's ready to talk, like sometimes there's just after
the last week's game. I can't I can't blame the
guy for not being able to put words together on
a couple of the questions because he's still in head
trying to figure out what the hell happened in that say, well, I.

Speaker 3 (55:02):
Think his brain works. He's so smart that I think
sometimes his brain is you know, it's like it's like,
you know, because I'm not a good typist on a computer,
it's like, you know, my brain's working way faster than
my hands can type. And then I look and see
what I type, and I'm like, did I just type that?
I have no idea how those letters go together, you know.
And then I think his brain is the same. I

(55:22):
think it's constantly working ahead, and it's just the thoughts
just keep popping into his head.

Speaker 2 (55:27):
From the cinematic world for those of us who may
not experience that in our day to day lives. We
go back to old school and Will Ferrell in a
debate against James Carville, where he gives a two minute
response and Carvill just says, we have that was brilliant,
We have.

Speaker 1 (55:41):
No response, right, right, it's it.

Speaker 2 (55:42):
I mean sometimes sometimes you go into that, no question
about it, the unconscious greatness of a moment because you've
done it ten thousand times or ten thousand hours.

Speaker 3 (55:51):
No, that's exactly right. But he's He's a great guy
to talk to. That I know for sure because I've
done it.

Speaker 2 (55:56):
Fantastic stuff. As we continue, We've got a second career.

Speaker 1 (55:59):
Stark up.

Speaker 2 (56:00):

kid is on the other. We'll talk about that as

Speaker 1 (56:52):

Speaker 2 (56:56):
A little bit later on, we got youth versus season veteran.
Next week we get the Battle of the as some
would call it the Battle of the Geriatrix, assuming Flacco's
still upright for the Bengals when they take on the
Pittsburgh Steelers. But for this week, while it's not the same,
you know rookie age that we once knew in the

(57:16):
National Football League, and Dylan Gabriel comes in at twenty
four years old, it's him and it's Aaron Rodgers. Now
let's hit the rewind button. Dylan Gabriel when last we
saw him losing a heartbreaker but making some plays along
the way.

Speaker 1 (57:29):
Bond a loan to the white side, right fan in
motions to the left. Here's the snap over the middle.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
Good cheap has a touchdown Dylan Gabriel to David Nudjoku
and the Browns.

Speaker 1 (57:41):
Retake the lead.

Speaker 2 (57:42):
Cleveland Radio Network on the call for the game. He
was nineteen to thirty three, one hundred and ninety yards,
the two scores five point eight yards to hanging asterisk
on that for a minute, but you know, gave him
a chance and then Wentz leads that great drive. Komen
with the Addison touchdown. But for Dylan Gabriel, I thought

(58:04):
he acquitted himself pretty nicely. When he had to push
the ball downfield, that became a bit of an adventure,
was scattershot passes beyond ten yards. But what did you
see in week one in that big spot, you know what?

Speaker 3 (58:15):
I thought that for who he is and what he
has to be in the league, if he's to be
a solid NFL quarterback, that he showed that. Obviously, his
arms better than people might think, but he's not necessarily
a drive thrower, so it has to be schematically planned
for him to be effective. Again, hit that back foot,
get the ball out. He can do that. This is

(58:38):
not a next and O point, Mike. But it didn't
look too big for him. He played comfortably, He made
good throws. He seemed in control. I didn't think that.
You know, the term I always use when I watch
quarterbacks where it just seems like everything is happening at
breakneck speed, is he didn't look like he was playing
too fast. He looked like he was playing for blee,

(59:00):
you know. And I thought that for the most part,
it was a very good first start.

Speaker 1 (59:05):
There you go.

Speaker 2 (59:06):
Now he builds against a Pittsburgh defense still trying to
find its way they're a six point favorite here. Thirty
eight and a half is the over under, so expecting
well field goals. Jalen Warren will be back. There's an
extra pass catcher for Aaron Rodgers out of the backfield.
But through five weeks, Steelers still kind of try to
find their way. But the division is there to go

(59:28):
and try to make your attempt to win it with
so many injuries and uncertainty across the board.

Speaker 3 (59:35):
You know, the last game that Rogers played was a
very very odd game because he I think he was
eighteen for twenty two, which of course is great, but
I think other than I think two completions to Metcalf,
obviously the long touchdown I think it was two, might
have been three tops, but it was. He didn't have
any ten plus yard completions.

Speaker 1 (59:53):
Yeah, eighty yard long, So do that math.

Speaker 3 (59:57):
Yeah, I mean I think he was eighteen for twenty
two for two hundred yards me correctly, yes, sir, And
so you take away that long touchdown. He had seventeen
completions for what one hundred and twenty yards. It was
a very odd game. Now, obviously didn't turn the ball
over and that's always critical, but it was it was
a strange game. A lot of people say after the game,

(01:00:17):
the boy that was his best game as a Steeler,
But it was just more of playing that particular game.
You know. I don't think you can play that way
every single week with your pass game and beat the
teams that you feel you're going to need to beat
to get where you want to go.

Speaker 2 (01:00:32):
A couple of weeks ago, they're one of the European
jaunts for the Minnesota Vikings. The twenty four to twenty
one Steelers victory. Another game that's mighty interesting on the
board here for is greg San Francisco on the road
at Tampa. Yeah for you know, game winning drives thus
far for Baker Mayfield, he's still without Bucky Irving and
Evans and Godwin.

Speaker 1 (01:00:52):
As he goes in here, so one is out. Yeah yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
So San Francisco on the other side trying to get
guys back in. Looks like it's another for Pearce all
but that they will have Juwan Jennings back in for
Mac Jones today. We talked at the start of the
season that Christian McCaffery was theorizing that he'd be a
top pass catcher. Right now, he's third in terms of

(01:01:16):
receptions and really taking up the slack for the injured
Kittle and all the other potpourria guys. But one of
the more interesting games on the slate between two front runners.

Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
Yeah, and obviously mac Jones has come into done a
nice job within the context of that offense. We spoke
about that last week, obviously because they played on that
Thursday night game. But Baker Mayfield's playing really really good
football right now. I mean, incredibly decisive. Ball's coming out
moving when he has to, probably running and sc not
running scrambling more than we've seen him do when he

(01:01:49):
feels that it's necessary. But just the decisiveness with which
he's getting rid of the football really really stands out
to me. And that again speaks to how the offense
is schemed. So he feels very comfortable, you know, hitting
that back foot delivering the football, and they've just had
you know, it's funny you talk about we always talk

(01:02:09):
about concepts. The touchdown he hit to Abuka last week
was the exact same play that they ran to beat
the Falcons week one, the exact same pass game concept,
and they used it week one in that critical situation.
I believe there were under two minutes to go, and
that was the game winning touchdown. And then last week
on a Bookah's touchdown, which was I believe twenty yards

(01:02:32):
or so, it was the exact same concept. So you know,
you can come back to concepts when you feel that
you're getting a particular coverage that you anticipate.

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
We also have the rarity as of right now, Amika
Abuka is the favorite to win Offensive.

Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
Rookie of the Year.

Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
He's a really good play.

Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
I often see that right where the wide receiver jumps
up to the top of the heap.

Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
So well, what's interesting about that is even week one
on that touch down, and this was week one, the
play was designed for him, as was the twenty yard
touchdown this week. If they got the coverage they anticipated,
which they did get, then the play is designed for
Abuca and he's got to win one on one on
the outside, and he did so. Just to show you

(01:03:16):
how a rookie they feel right now that in sort
of critical, high leverage situations might that he can win
one on one on the outside.

Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
Just think of what this offense looks like if they
can get all of these guys back in healthy for
the stretch run. Fantastic stuff coming out of the NFC South.
Another game to preview plenty more as we continue, But first,
before we get to kick off, let's go over to
the news desk with our guy, Dan Bayer, my tag
team partner the I Watch a Plex Podcast.

Speaker 1 (01:03:42):
You'll hear him later on End Zone Radio. Dan, what's
going on?

Speaker 6 (01:03:45):
Broncos and Jets got the anthems done with in London
and they're about to kick off to continue Week six.
Now one of the key games coming up later on today.
You guys just touched on Niners. In Buccaneers forty nine,
Ers quarterback Mac Jones is expected to start, despite his
questionable time obviously starting four brock Perty, who could return
in week seven, according to reports from the NFL Network.

(01:04:06):
Juwan Jennings also expected to go today for San Francisco,
who again will be without Ricky Piersall as well. More
wide receiver News Ravens wide out Z Flowers should go
today against the Rams, while the Chargers aren't expected to
have Quinton Johnston against the Dolphins today in South Florida,
Cardinals aren't Indianapolis facing the Colts. They're preparing Arizona is

(01:04:26):
to start Jacoby Brisseta quarterback in place of Kyler Murray,
who nursed a foot injury all week in practice. That's
from the NFL Network, and the trade deadline is coming
up on November fourth, that's a Tuesday, just after Week nine.
NFL Network reported earlier today that Saint Sworting back Alvin
Kamaras told the team's front office he doesn't want to
leave New Orleans. Kamara is expected to suit up and

(01:04:46):
play today against the Patriots. Some play college football lastnight,
Number eighteen by utahped Arizona in double overtime thirty three
to twenty seven, while Utah was a victor against twenty
first Drink Arizona forty two to ten. If you missed
at Penn State quarterback Drew Allo so for that injury
against Northwestern yesterday done for the season as Penn State
took another loss. Brewers beat the Cubs last night for

(01:05:07):
three to one to advance to the National League Championship Series.
They'll start their matchup with the Dodgers tomorrow night in Milwaukee.
But tonight on Fox eight o'clock Eastern, tom Mariners and
Blue Jays in Game one of the Alcs.

Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
Guys, thank you, thanks so much.

Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
Dan at Dan Byer on Fox. Where you find him
on Twitter. You find me over at Swallow Dome. Thanks
for being with us here. It's Fox Football Sunday, Fox
Sports Radio. Find Greg co Sale at Greg Coasel all
the latest video clips and where you can best sample
his work in the larger sporting universe. So much going on, Greg,
as we get ready here for week six. This game

(01:05:42):
is now kicked off and we're underway of what's going
to be a thrilling Sunday of action with that doubleheader
on Monday. Of course, Buffalo, Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, Minnesota and
Houston taking the week off. I wanted to go to
one of the matchups might be a little bit lesser,
but I know we always have our common conversation with Breon,
our executive producer, about her beloved Saints. They've got a

(01:06:05):
big match game later on. All right, like here we
go here, here's a little bit of a highlight reel.

Speaker 7 (01:06:10):
Rat one under center play action stands in the middle
proves it.

Speaker 3 (01:06:13):
Teep, he's got a wide open Chin said, how is
supposed to play? Thirty twenty See later.

Speaker 5 (01:06:21):
Shuts down Saints eighty seven.

Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
Yards Saints Radio Network, of course, Greg. You know Rashid Shaheeda,
guy that I think on our I watch a Flex
Fantasy podcast, we've mentioned his name more like we were
invoking Beetlejuice than anybody outside of the UH. This this
the city of New Orleans, like they talk about it, right,
But here was a huge trow for Rattler. We think

(01:06:46):
through five weeks, I'm I'm feeling pretty good about him.

Speaker 3 (01:06:50):
You know, Shaheit's one of those guys by the way
that he's There's not many in the league, but he's
one that has terrifying speed. Jameson Williams is another that
comes to mind. I guess put worthy in that category
from the Chiefs, but he hasn't necessarily played like that
or it hasn't shown up yet within the context of
their offense. But you know, that play to me, that
play is football to me, and I'm going to tell

(01:07:11):
you why, because that is Kellen Morris is a very
good offensive coach, and he's obviously the head coach for
the Saints. But that play came out of what we
call thirteen personnel mike, one back and three tight ends, okay,
And what they did is they knew they would get
a coverage when they were in thirteen personnel. So they
send one of the tight ends, Johnson, across the formation

(01:07:33):
outside of Shahed, and you know what that did. It
put Shahed on the safety. So now you're getting a
guy with terrifying speed Shahed running a deep sale route
against a safety. It happened to be Tyler Nuban. That's football.
That's matchup football through the deployment of personnel and motion.
That's one reason I love football so much, those kinds

(01:07:54):
of things. When I see that and I'm watching tape
in my office here at NFL Films, that just brings
a smile to my face.

Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
Big play there for the Saints. On the other side,
we look at New England where we got Drake May
and company coming off a huge win last Sunday night.
Things starting to piece together with Stefan Diggs as the
leader of that receiving corps.

Speaker 3 (01:08:14):
Yeah, and by the way, did you see the first
player there winning drive where literally May was being taken
to the ground by Dakwan Jones and he just kind
of flipped it to Diggs and it ended up being
twelve yards.

Speaker 1 (01:08:24):
It's a beautiful thing.

Speaker 3 (01:08:25):
If Josh Allen or Mahomes did that wouldn't we be
seeing it for three weeks? Sure, May with May, it
almost didn't even know what happened. But May has been
really good this year. He's been outstanding on third down.
He's been outstanding versus Blitz. These are rarities for a
quarterback in his second season in a brand new offense.
So essentially he's in his first season in this offense

(01:08:48):
because the learning starts over. So he's he's played exceptionally well.
He made on that final drive, you know, not only
that play we just mentioned, but then to Booty he
had a nineteen yarder which was a big timehole shot
in the outside void and cover two. Not an easy
throw not to throw a lot of quarterbacks even see

(01:09:09):
is viable, and he made it. He's really progressing nicely.

Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
Yeah, this is one of the fun games. I think.

Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
On the undercard of this, we talked about Campara and
the trademarket, Kendriy Miller stepping up a little bit more
in that running situation for New England. They need to
figure out ball security drills both those runs. Yes, I
don't know what's going on in there, but difficult times.

Speaker 3 (01:09:30):
I know, especially Stevenson because he's actually a good back
and and you know Ray, but not that any coach
would would be okay with it. But but Mike Rabel's
probably not walking him around saying kumbayau when he does that.
So you know, although I'll tell you what, he's still
putting him on the field. So they're they're showing confidence
in him and basically telling him, hey, we need you

(01:09:52):
to be out there, and you know, but you're gonna
have to You're gonna have to hold on to the football.

Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
Yeah, that was one of the things I do, you know,
a bunch of little blurbs for preview for fantasy magazines
and stuff. Still and that was one of those. All right,
which guy, are you a little afraid of it? And
I said, well, for ball security eventually comes off the field. Well,
clearly I'm wrong. I'm right on the ball security issues,
right right right, not costing them time just yet. All right,
let's continue. We've got a massive matchup. Fifty three is

(01:10:19):
blinking at me as I look at it. Detroit in
Kansas City, fireworks galore. You mentioned Xavier Worthy looking for him,
Kareem hunt me becoming a more of a staple in
that Kansas City backfield. But you know, the thing that
stood out once again last week as they take NL
was why is Patrick Mahomes still running the ball so much?

Speaker 1 (01:10:40):
Get away from that, that's not waiting football.

Speaker 3 (01:10:43):
Yeah, you know, I can't figure the Chiefs out, and
I'll tell you why they continue to be limited in
their structured pass game. You know, there's almost no timing
pass game at the intermediate levels, and that's been the
case for most of two seasons. And I can't tell
you why that's the case. But there's quite a contrast

(01:11:05):
in this game because of that. Because the Lions, they
have a great timing pass game basically between the numbers
at the intermediate level, and they do such a great job.
When you watch the Lions pass game, Mike, the choreography,
the spacing of the route concepts, and the combinations, particularly
against zone coverage is so so good, and for some

(01:11:28):
reason with the Chiefs you're just not seeing that well.

Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
You even get the extra passing efforts of David Montgomery
to make it look that much.

Speaker 3 (01:11:37):
Yeah, in the red zone, where they're very good. By
the way, they're very good in the red zone.

Speaker 1 (01:11:41):
Seems Ben Johnson left a couple of those plays behind.

Speaker 3 (01:11:44):
Yeah, and the other thing about the Lions, which is
really high level, is their play action pass game and
under center. There have been Gobs had fifty play action
dropbacks this year, forty eight have been under center. That's
the way they play. That foundation of their offense and
their pass.

Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
Game almost brings a tear to my eye thinking of
football the way it was.

Speaker 1 (01:12:05):
When I grew up.

Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
I know, yeah, it's well, you know what they do that,
The Rams do that. There's a number of teams that
have sort of gone back to that because play action
under center is more effective than play action in the shotgun.

Speaker 2 (01:12:17):
And then we talked about the Rams and Ravens. Quickly,
we talked about the Ravens and the cavalcade of injuries
there for the Rams. Matthew Stafford throwing the ball well
again be set by some issues with ball security by
his running backs. But Kyron Williams is that guy Blake
Koram was sent just to be a bystander last week.

(01:12:38):
But between Adams and Nakua, two grades going up against
a really beliegued Baltimore secondary.

Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
Yeah, I mean, this is one of those games and
this is why the NFL is crazy. We have no
idea how it's going to play out. But you look
at this game right now as we talk on Sunday morning,
and you just have to believe that the past game
of the Rams is going to have a nice day.
But I love the way they use Nakua. I mean
they move him all around. He's kind of a motion player.
He lines up with different splits, different spots. The way

(01:13:06):
they get him into his routes is so so good.
And then DeVante Adams has essentially become what we call
the boundary X. He's the single receiver to the short
side of the field. He's pretty defined in that role.
But one could argue Matthew Stafford's have one right now,
is having one of his best years and what is
he thirty seven years old something like that.

Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
All those questions about he retiring, how bads the back,
will he hold up? All of those things? Right now
he's been just absolutely brilliant. Talk about all the injuries
in that that Raven side real quick, Zay Flowers questionable,
looks like he will go. But of course Lamar Jackson
is out, Rokwan Smith is out. Marlon Humphrey and Ronnie
Stanley look like they're going to give it a go.

(01:13:48):
But they were both limited early week practice, so we'll
see just a bit of a mess. And then you've
got Kyle Hamilton expected to go all still with the
blinking red letters, but at least going to give it
the old cop.

Speaker 1 (01:14:00):
Let's try.

Speaker 3 (01:14:00):
Yeah, they just made the trade for alone Gilman, the
safety from the Chargers, and you know, obviously he's going
to a new team, but he might get forty snaps.
I mean he's healthy right now. They're just looking for
healthy bodies.

Speaker 1 (01:14:12):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (01:14:12):
Try to get the eleven and succeed and proceed as
we go at Greg CoA cell where you find him
in the twitterverse.

Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
Find me over at Swollen Dome.

Speaker 2 (01:14:21):
As we continue, we still have a couple of big
Monday night matchups and some cleanup on two others. We'll
do that as we finish up here. It's Fox Football
Sunday on Fox Sports Radio. Welcome back in Fox Sport.
It's a radio coming up in ten minutes from now.
You've got countdown to Kickoff presented by bet MGM. As
we're here in the Fox Sports Radio studios, the game
is underway in London and I predicted a field goal

(01:14:45):
kicking contest and well thus far, that's what we got
three to three midway through the first quarter. As we
roll on a couple more games left to get through.
Mike Harbon alongside Greg co Sell at greg CoA cell
where you find him on Twitter, Dallas and we talk
talked about the offensive efficiency.

Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
I would not have believed.

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
As I started going through numbers that Bryce Young has
the most red zone pass attempts national Football League this season.

Speaker 3 (01:15:12):
Yeah. I wouldn't have believed that either. But you said
something earlier, kind of as an aside, when you were
going through the top running backs in terms of yardage.
I think Gavante Williams is being overlooked now. I remember
when he came out of North Carolina and I loved
his tape, and then he had the really good rookie
season with Denver, looked like he'd be a really good back,
and then he had multiple lower body injuries, including ACL

(01:15:35):
and this year he looks like the old Javanta Williams.
And I know the focus has been on Prescott and
he's played extremely well, but Javanta Williams has been a
pretty significant part of that offense.

Speaker 2 (01:15:47):
Yeah, already six touchdowns on the year, seventy nine carries,
averaging five point seven yards with carry, and that was
the big question coming into the year was you know.

Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
They run the ball, could they run it at all?

Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
Yeah, he's been fantast Also seventeen receptions out of the backfield,
so a nice boom there as well. But it's good
to see a guy get another shot, right. We talked
about the quarterbacks a lot, but it's good to see
other players get a chance to resurface and reclaim it.
We talked a lot with JK. Dobbins earlier now being
featured in the game. That's yes, that's on in front

(01:16:19):
of me. But for Javonte Williams, a guy coming out
of Denver that we had had great expectations for. At
seventy nine carries, he's already halfway to his total from
a year ago. No, that's exactly right, and he's stewer
than one hundred yards behind what he did last year,
had already more touchdown runs. You talk about all of it.

(01:16:39):
It's just a great story that side. For Carolina, you
got McMillan and you had the giant Rico Donnell game
a week ago. Can you have a revenge game today?

Speaker 3 (01:16:50):
You know people might forget he gained over a thousand
yards last year for the Cowboys. You know, he's a
solid back. Obviously had the big game last week that
he's not going to do that every single week. But
with Hubbard out, he's really filled that role. And when
you have Bright Young as your quarterback, you need a
viable run game.

Speaker 2 (01:17:06):
It's curiosity here, just with how bad Dallas's defense has been,
whether they can crack the code with McMillian company down road?

Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
Yeah, can can you outscore them? I guess is the question.

Speaker 3 (01:17:18):
Yeah, it's been bad. It's you know, it's we'll see.
You know, it's still early. They're trying to figure it
out how much man to play, how much zone to play.
Right now they play more zone than any team in
the league, but they've really got man corner. So it's
it's not a good mix.

Speaker 1 (01:17:33):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:17:33):
The Obligatory mentioned Tennessee and Las Vegas. We already talked
about cam Ward Genti's good, Gino Smith is not all right.

Speaker 1 (01:17:41):
Two games Monday Football Buffalo and Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (01:17:44):
Buffalo a favorite on the road, Michael Pennis Junior and
company coming off the bye week over under sitting at
a nice robust forty nine and a half from here,
any progression through the weeks because I know early on
high on penis expecting to come out of the buy
because Buffalo is still missing some key contributors to.

Speaker 3 (01:18:03):
Yeah, he's only started seven games, you know, so I
think the ups and downs are to be expected. He
throws the ball outside the numbers really well. Bijon Robinson.
To me, he's the best back in the league, and
they use him really well in the pass game. I
think you'll see that this week because Mooney has been
declared out and so I think you'll see you'll probably
see a lot of what we call twenty one pony personnel,

(01:18:24):
meaning Robinson and Alzierro will be on the field together
because I think they'll use Robinson as a receiver. But
their defense, Mike, I studied them in detail this week.
Albret the DC, Jeff Albrett, he is doing a great
job with pressure schemes. They're a fun defense to watch.

Speaker 2 (01:18:42):
Can't wait for that one. And then we got the
final event. I think most people in Chicago were like,
we don't need a buy right now. We're just starting
to get it cooking right right right. But they take
the bye week after that crazy win over Las Vegas.
Now you got the Bears on the road at Washington,
Jayden Daniels back and full of fact fifty the total
Still know Terry McLaurin.

Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
Good quarterback match up here. I think that Cliff Kingsbury
does a great job understanding his opponent. Last week they
played a zone heavy team in the Chargers. The Bears
play a lot his own. He does a great job
attacking and breaking down zone coverage. And we're starting to
see Caleb Williams get a little more comfortable in that
Ben Johnson offense. And because what you're seeing, and this
is the litmus test, is that you start to see

(01:19:25):
throws between the numbers at the intermediate level. That is
really the litmus test for how Williams is advancing in
the Ben Johnson pass game.

Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Completion percentage up to sixty two point three, not world beating,
but not too far behind the league average. Right now,
eight touchdowns against two picks. And you know, I joked
earlier in the show about the grid of minus five
to five pushing the ball downfield with more regularity, which.

Speaker 3 (01:19:51):
Is a pretty thrower though. I got to tell you,
clib Williams is a pretty thrower of the football, bit.

Speaker 2 (01:19:56):
By bit, you're seeing that all come Yeather, this will
be a big one on Monday Night. Can't wait to
review it with you next week.

Speaker 1 (01:20:02):
Greg. We got a great slate ahead of us today.

Speaker 3 (01:20:05):
We sure do. I'm really excited for this week's games.
And I hate these double headers on Monday night because
they're on at the same time.

Speaker 1 (01:20:12):
I know, I mean, we just got to get you
more coffee.

Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
We can get a sponsor at Greg Cosell where you
find and find me over at Swollen Dome.

Speaker 1 (01:20:18):
Countdown to kickoff?

Speaker 2 (01:20:19):
Is that it?

Speaker 1 (01:20:20):
