Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Hello, everybody, welcome, It's Fox Sports Sunday. I am Mancie
Belanyas alongside you heard it, former all Pro Safety Carry
Roads hanging out with you for the next three hours.
And happy Mother's Day, Yes right, especially to our moms. Yes,
because I'm gonna guess you're gonna say your mom is
the goat, and I'm gonna say my mom is the goat.
So we're wishing everybody out there, all the moms in
(00:27):
every way, shape and form, because there's a lot of
different moms out there, have a great day, enjoy it,
live your best life. Get a drink, get a cocktail,
have some pizza, all the things. Oh, you know how
I love pizza. I had pizza yesterday twice from different places.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
Wow, that's insane.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
That is insane. And then I had pizza Friday night
from a different place. Because I'm not bragging, I'm just
saying I've had a pretty good couple of days with
my pizza. All I live off of is pizza and
water and tequila. You know that That's how I live
my life. Thanks for hanging out with us. We've got
so much to discuss. Carry and once again, We're gonna
try and jam it all in into three hours. A
little basketball, a little football, a little bit of carry
(01:09):
on or off easy as one, two, three, four. I mean,
we've got it all today, a lot of stuff. But
we're gonna start with this game going on right now
between the Nuggets and the Thunder, which is not I
think the way I expected the game to start. Twenty
five combined points in the first quarter between these two teams,
(01:29):
the lowest ever in postseason history for a quarter. At
one point, Denver was two of like eighteen. I think
I could have made two of eighteen at that point.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
It depends on what the game looked like. Yes, I
think you would have made one or two, right, I.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Mean a little bit. And despite the bad shooting that
Denver came out with, okay, see also was not as bad,
but they also weren't shooting the ball that great either,
So it's still a close game. We just got going
in the third. Forty five to thirty eight is score
with Thunder up who are trying to even the series.
And Nicola Jokic just hit a three, shocking because he
(02:07):
hit a couple of airball threes in the first half
and You're just like, you don't shoot air balls, Nicola,
what do you think this is? Is this? Are they
a little bit tired? Game three being thirty six hours ago?
Is it the altitude? Is it for Denver specifically that
seven game series against the Clippers finally catching up? Because
(02:31):
you called it, Carrie, you called it right here. You
told me and Mark Medina Denver's probably going to win
game one against the Thunder and Mark and I laughed
in your face, thought you were on crack. We were like, Okay,
this guy needs an app We don't see what he's saying.
(02:51):
You were right on the money, right on the money.
So now do you think the seven game series against
the Clippers is catching up to them? There's so many
airballs and it wasn't just Nikola Jokic. Yeah, so that's
what I'm saying, Like, are you think they're a little tired?
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (03:04):
Fatigue definitely a plays plays a factor in these long series,
especially when they're competitive like that. That last seven game
series was for Denver and the Clippers, right, so to
go through that and then you know, you the reason
I picked them to win game one was just the adrenaline,
the the you know, going through the attrition of a
seven game, tough series of competitive basketball, and so knowing
(03:25):
what it takes to actually get a win in those games,
I knew never had that, And also they've won a
championship before, so had been that metal going into Game
one where OKC hadn't been tested. Plus they were just
out somewhere chilling out for a week and not playing
real competitive basketball. So that's why I tied that all
in for Game one. But yeah, right now, in Game four,
(03:47):
definitely fatigue starts to set in a little bit and
they're going to be short on some shots. But again
it's just the playoffs as well, where it's also super
high competition, and for an OKC team that shoots a
lot of free throws throughout the regular season, they're not
getting that either. So the difference of what the point
per game average would be, I will promise you if
(04:08):
we really dove deep into these not having the same
amount of free throw attempts or a free throw makes
is a big attribute, and why they're they're scoring is
low as well.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Absolutely, shake Gil Just Alexander was called the free throw
merchant throughout the regular season, and he has not been
to the free throw line even remotely close to the
numbers that he had during the regular season. You said
a lot of things there that I do want to
unpack theok before we fully move on from this matchup.
The one person that I feel like I have to
give credit to and maybe this is just me making
myself feel better because of the Clipper series, but last
(04:39):
two nights ago, in Game three, Nicola jokicch did not
have a good game. He was oh of ten or
eleven from the three. But you know what I loved
is he still took that three as the buzzer was going,
and he's like, I don't care that I've missed all
of them. I'm gonna take a lot of shot. Why
because you're Nicola Jokic, and that's exactly what you would want.
But I want to give a little bit of credit
(04:59):
And when I said, I mean a lot of credit
to Aaron Gordon. Aaron Gordon is the X factor for
Denver and he obviously was against the Clippers, and so
part of me is just happy to see that he
still is and he didn't just do that against the
Clippers because he has been falling. Part of the big
success when Nicola Yogas is off, he's the one getting
(05:19):
you offensive rebounds. He is the guy hustling alongside Russell Westbrook,
which you and I love. Yeah, and we'll give him
all his flowers whenever he wants them. But he's doing
the stuff you don't see on the statue.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
Aaron Gordon is definitely their ultimate glue guy there. I
don't want to call him an X factor because he's
so good, so I don't like, I don't want to say,
I know what you mean.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
You're right, you're right.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yeah, no, And it was not supposed to be a
bad at all, no, no.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but we thought that that phrase
out there a little bit because there can be an
X factor for every game, but as far as him
being the most integral part of what they're doing right now,
he is that guy. And also because when you talk
about X factors, we can talk about the last game
Michael Porter Junior stuff.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
Up as well.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
He hasn't played well, right, and so he's also an
X factor in theory, right, because when you think about
this team a couple of years ago, you had you know,
you had the Murray and yolkis for sure, but Porter
Junior was right there and he was like almost like
their normal third score, and so he hasn't been that
way and for him to step up and be that
way right now. And Aaron Gordon, who's just I love
(06:19):
him so much too, but he's a dog. He competes,
he's he's there without being crazy and fliling all over
the place.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
He's there. Draymond Grain, I.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Was just about to say, he's their dog, but controlled,
but controlled every single time. He's so level headed. And
you know what, I like what you just said to
me that you didn't want to say the X factor.
And I was like, oh, I wasn't trying to be mean,
no you want, but I hear what you're saying, because
Russell Westbrook was an X factor in one of the
games or two against the Clippers. Michael Porter Junior has
been an X factor. You're so right that Aaron Gordon
(06:49):
has just kind of been the glue that has kept
everybody together. And watching him play is so fun because
it is he is a dog, and yet you know
he's not going to put your team in jeopard No,
he holds it together. He holds it together and like
he cuts and he's jumping and he's grabbing offensive rebounds
(07:12):
He's all over the place and you kind of like
don't see that a lot on teams. You don't see
the hustle a lot in the entire forty eight minutes,
and I feel like Aaron Gordon does not stop.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
He doesn't, and he doesn't. He doesn't care about the attention. No,
he just goes out and does his job. He's got
bigger things, bigger fish to fry. He understands that life
is bigger than this. But while I'm out here, I'm
going to give you my all. And that's just the
ultimate player, ultimate team player.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
Ultimate team player. And like he understands, in order to win,
there are other guys that are the guys. Nikola Yoka,
jin Jamal Murray. He knows that he You probably even say,
Michael Porter Junior, give him the ball before you give
it to me. He plays selfless ball the entire time.
But just like at such a high level and watching him,
just like you know, I'm just very happy to see,
(07:59):
yeah that it wasn't just against the Clippers, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
I'm very happy it makes it.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
Yeah, Like all right, Eron Gordon, we see you, trust
we see it. I'm sure Denver fancy it. But what
you hit on of the Oklahoma City Thunder not being
battle tested, you mentioned they were on a vacation. We
joked about it. They probably went to kancun in back
because they were so done with their first round matchup.
I feel like people are discussing that home court advantage
(08:28):
is not a thing right now, and it's true we
have not seen the home court teams really dominate and win.
But I think it really has to do with the
regular season. I don't think the regular season is painting
an accurate picture of what these teams actually are. Okay,
see great, nobody's denying it, but all of your games
(08:50):
that you won probably came really easily. I don't know
if you were battle tested at all throughout the regular season,
let alone come what March when you knew, oh we're
we're coasting. We don't have to worry about this. Last
year Oka See also finished at the top of the
Western Conference. Same thing, And yet here they are kind
of like, is it that they don't Is it that
(09:11):
they're not closing the door fully leaving a sliver for
a team to get in, like the Denver Nuggets. But
they're not the only ones. Look at the Cavaliers down
to the Pacers, look at the Celtics down to the Necks.
It's almost like the regular season is not painting the
right picture.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Yeah, no, I agree with I love that take. I
think it's the regular season has become almost like a joke.
And I think we talk about the ratings being down
at that point, right and basketball being in trouble of
not even being the second best sport to watch or whatever,
all these the things that were being said about it,
and it was some truth to it. People are in
(09:49):
and out of the lineups, you don't know who's gonna
play that week, you're conceding some games because of the
back to backs, and you're not playing all your guys,
and so those losses count. Those losses add up, and
so certain teams that would have better records, or even
teams that have worse records than their actual team represents
as them being you know, I mean, like there's there's
real stuff in that, right, Like the Clippers and the
(10:12):
Nuggets are definitely easy. Would have been easy, like top
three in that in that division. I think Denver ended
up being three. But if you don't play the regular
season like it matters or casters, you're gonna have slippage,
slippage and you're don't have teams that are falling down
and spots they shouldn't be in, and you're playing the
number one seed, and of course you're gonna win games.
You're good enough to win them. And I think that
(10:33):
plays until it for sure.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
And not knowing how it's really going to become playoffs
when everything is more physical, like they are letting them play.
For the most part, we are seeing a lot of physicality,
which I'm all about, because there's some fouls where you're
just like, guys, I really you're stopping momentum over over
a silly four Like, okay, I guess. But the way
(10:55):
they're being called, the games are being called, I have
no problem with. I started reading Phil Jackson's book Eleven Rings.
I'm kind of late to the game, but I just
started reading it right. I picked it up, and in
one of them, he's talking about one of his coaches
and I can't think of the name, but that one
of his coaches in his in you know, his career,
told him like, practice doesn't make perfect perfect, practice makes perfect,
(11:17):
And so how can you prepare for something like this
if you're not going through it.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
Yeah, that's why it always in the in the annals
of history, right, the teams that win the championships have
to go through adversity.
Speaker 5 (11:30):
Right.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
You think about the Bad Boy Pistons in the early
in the late eighties. They had to get through Boston, right,
like I had to fight to get through them. Boston
was the team that wanted. A couple of times they
lost to Boston, they came back and won. They had
their time in the in the in the spotlight, right,
and then here comes this ball headed they call him
Black Jesus Jordan comes on. Right, he has to lose
(11:53):
to Detroit a couple of times before he gets the championship. Right,
So you have to go through those trials and tribulations
to become a strong or cohesive unit as a team.
And then once that happens, it's and your time is there.
Then when the time is there, it doesn't mean it's
still your time. You still have to seize it and
you have to go after it and get it. And
I think, okay, see, right now they're in the dog
(12:14):
fight with Denver. Denver's a team that's woned already. They
know what it takes. Okay, sees the team that had
a great year last year and everybody thought they were going.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
To get there. They didn't. They had to.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Sit back, lost in the first round round, scond round,
Secon round last.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
Year, so they had that happen. So now then the
second round again they're down to one. We're gonna find
out who they really are right now because all the
other stuff is just cool. And we look at SGA
and all of them look tight and they have fun
in the interviews.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
That's all cool.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
Yeah, but let's see what happens when stuff really when
stuff really hits the fan, and what.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
We have seen, they've been battle tested. In the last
game going into overtime, Shake Gill just Alexander not even
taking a shot, not even taking a shot. I'm I
complained about James Harden in that elimination game only taking
eight shots. We mentioned how in that last game Nikolo
Jokic had not made a three, still took the final
three before going into overtime, because that's what you want
(13:06):
taking the shot. Shake Gilders, Alexander did not take a
shot in overtime, and that bothered me so much, that
let me so much.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Well, he got locked up by Christian Brawn and at
the end of regulation he had a couple of times,
so a couple of chances to win that game. He
didn't make shots, didn't make shots and was trying to
draw fouls again instead of making the shots. And so
again going through the fire, knowing this is not the
regular season, you're not getting those calls. You got to
go out and be better than the team you're playing.
And right now it's in debate.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
We'll see and you have to You have to come
out every game wanting to step on their throats, like
the Knicks. And we'll get into the Knicks and the Celtics,
but in Game three, like the Knicks, you needed to
come out wanting to make them cry like.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
You couldn't, you know, And they're not good enough to
do that.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Though they're not good enough to do that, there's still
so much to die into when it comes to the NBA.
And so we're going to talk to our NBA insider
Mark Stein on the other side of this. Don't go
anywhere He's carried. I'm Manci and this is fuck Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to

Speaker 2 (14:13):
I was definitely about to sing the censored version of it.
Oh so at that point, nice song. Chris on the
Ones in twoes, Chris pher fed our technical producer, who's
gonna be moving to the anchor studio in a little bit,
And we have our producer Shay here. Guys, thanks for
(14:34):
hanging out with us. Happy Mother's Day to you and
your mother's and yeah, my mom's a go I'm sure
you think your mom's ago is. There's a lot of
goat mothers out there. There's a lot there. But yeah,
Happy Mother's Day to everybody. We've got NBA thank you
going on and we're gonna talk to our NBA insider
(14:54):
Mark Stein in just a little bit. The Nuggets are
up in the third quarter, now care they're up? The
Nuggets are up. The Nuggets are up? Why fifty five
to fifty two?
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Yeah, up by three.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
But I just oh, yeah, the TV is a little
bit yes, there we go, there we go with that TV.
Let me let me refresh my screen. Though, sixty one
to fifty eight is the score. Two minutes ish to
go in the third quarter and This is what you
kind of were hitting on a little bit of the
inexperience where the Oklahoma City Thunder needed to close the
(15:30):
door in the first quarter on this one when they
saw that Denver was struggling from the field as badly
as they were, they needed to come out and step
on their throats.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
No, this is the game exactly what you said. I mean,
just like in game two when they bounced back and
just from the start from the tip, just ran away
with it and got a little cushion and never looked back.
That could have been the scenario here today. But they
didn't make shots. I thought they rushed shots early. You
can tell the game plan was for them to come
out and speed up the tempo, get up shots early
before defense, before Denver's defense got settled in, and so
(16:03):
they followed the game plan. But we're taking bad shots,
in my opinion, so now they're a dog fight, and
again in these closed games, Denver Okay, see, if it's
a tight game going down to stretch, it leans into
Denver's into Denver's paper.
Speaker 2 (16:18):
Those bad shots, though, yeah, came, you think because they
were like we gotta we gotta capitalize.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
Yes, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
If OKAC is. If OKAC does not win this one,
they're gonna think about that. First quarter, Mark steign on
the line, Mark, are you there?
Speaker 6 (16:37):
I am here? Hi.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
Don't you doing so well?
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Happy Sunday, Happy Mother's Day to everyone in your life
celebrating that. Thank you for joining us. First thing, I'm
going to ask you. Everyone's talking about home court advantage
not being a thing when I just think the regular
season of the NBA is not painting the correct picture
on these teams. Would you say that?
Speaker 6 (17:03):
I have to tell you, guys, like home court advantage
has actually been dwindling in the NBA really since COVID.
I think that changed it, but it hasn't bounced back
to its normal levels. And the last three four seasons,
the win rate for teams at home has been in
(17:23):
the five forties, when it used to be a lot
closer to sixty percent. So already, I just think home
court advantage has been on the wane. But look, I
don't know that anything explains what we've seen in the
second round. It just that nobody can hold serve. But
(17:46):
I mean, Manta, you just said it, like, if Oklahoma
City doesn't win this game, if they go down three
to one when Jokic is how you know, just the
worst off run we've ever seen from him. And you've
got to give the Thunder some credit there because you know,
they play such good defense. I mean they just they
(18:08):
have a team full of I mean, they guard you
the second you get off the bus. But I mean
if they if they can't, if they can't take advantage
of this, and if they go down three to one,
they're going to be more than kicking themselves.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Mark.
Speaker 4 (18:24):
Yeah, we talk about the job that. Okay, so he's
doing defensively, especially against Jo Kics. I think it's I
think the shift that is happening there and what's making
it a little bit difficult for for Yo kicch And
I think other teams are starting to notice that is
going back to the to the traditional double big look,
and I think that's giving them problems.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
What do you think about that?
Speaker 6 (18:45):
Yeah, look, I mean they have and it's funny like
ever since we've been talking now the Thunder role players
are making shots like it's yeah, they they have I mean,
look they are. They have an impressive top to bottom roster.
And you know the reason Sam Presky won Executive of
the Year, which is hard to believe. It's the first
time he's ever won it. But I mean they had
(19:07):
two major needs and address them by acquiring Caruso and Hartenstein,
and you know they now they have the double bigs,
but they've got defenders all up and down the roster.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
But it's you.
Speaker 6 (19:19):
Know, it's crazy as we you know, we watch, we're
trying to talk and watch is at the same with
like Denver Joka just supporting cast has been so maligned
for so long and they still aren't deep. But I mean,
Gordon has had a ridiculously good playoff. Westbrook has had
an impact and he is getting just enough help right
(19:41):
now that like again, if I mean it's only a
six point game, anything can happen in the fourth quarter.
But if if the Nuggets actually hold serve and win
both these games at home and put the sixty eight
win thunders against, you know, on the brink of elimination,
I mean, we it has been a surprise filled playoffs
(20:02):
and it's been a crazy It's honestly, it's been a
crazy season. I mean it's one of this is my
thirty second year and it has been it has been
a circus of a season really from if you go
back and think about it, you know, Minnesota kind of
set the tone. Nobody talks about it like that. But
the Wolves, after one of the two most successful seasons
in franchise history, trade Karl Anthony Towns on the weekend
(20:24):
before training camp. Yeah, when nobody's really expecting it. And
it's just been one thing after another ever since. But
I mean, the thunders regular season resume was so good,
it had everything. And to see them struggle in this
series the way they have against a Nuggets team that again,
(20:45):
we have never in NBA history seen a team with
a winning record fire its coach as late in the
season as the Nuggets did. And David Adelman, who coached
all of three regular season games, might might be taking
a three to one lead over the sixty eight wins
under this afternoon.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
I mean, it's Mark. Is it too late to recan
Harrod Coach of the Year award if that happens.
Speaker 6 (21:11):
No, But you know what if he if this gets
from the job full time, he'll he'll happily sacrifice that
he was not part of the Coach of the Year voting.
I mean, the guy, the guy at three he was.
He has a three and oh record in the regular season,
and you know, won a Game seven against Tyler. Tyler
was four to oh in Game seven. Yeah, and Denver
won that game seven handily at home. Again, I'm getting
(21:32):
a little bit ahead of myself here. There's still a
whole fourth quarter to go, but the Nuggets taking a
three to one lead over OKC would be a fascinating development,
to say the least.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
Mark So we talked about. Obviously okc's remarkable regular season,
one of the best that we've seen in a while,
if they were to lose in this second round, just
throw out a hypothetical.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
If they were to lose in the second.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
Round, would it be as big as devastating as that
Dallas lost to the Golden State.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
We believed team.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
Would it be on that level or would it be
what would How would you uh compare those two I.
Speaker 6 (22:08):
Wouldn't go again. You know, Denver is a recent champion,
and I think they're showing us that, they're showing us
they've shown us heart of the heart of a champion
stuff in this series, especially because you know they made
the late coaching change, fired your coach and GM on
the same day three games to go in the regular season,
(22:30):
and you know, I don't think I don't think anyone
was expecting this. Okay, beating the Clippers in the first
round yests, there were you know, that was not that
was not seen as a shock. But you know, the
Clippers for the last twenty games of the season, they
pretty much were playing the best basketball in the league.
So that was a notable series win for the Nuggets.
But like the way the way they have, I mean,
(22:52):
winning game one. You know, if you in this century
teams in that situation that were coming off but game
seven and then playing the rested team, the rested team
in those in that scenario was fourteen in one this century.
And then the manner, the manner of Denver's comeback when
(23:12):
that game looked over and finding a way to steal
game one. And I still can't get over Mark Dagnall
calling for an intentional foul with eleven seconds to go,
and Jokic is at the scorers table and the Nuggets
don't have any timeouts and they kept fouling. They let
Yokic come back and to lose that lose that game
won the way they did. But you know, that was
(23:34):
a fluky circus of a night. I mean to see
Denver again, if Denver and they got a whole fourth
quarter to go here, I'm gonna keep saying it, but
if Denver, if Denver could finish this thing off and
take a three to one lead, I mean wow. But
I mean, look, the Thunders still have an incredibly young
team and more draft picks than we can count. They're
going to be fine. And if they have to make
(23:57):
adjustments to their team and the wake of this, they
will be I mean, look, Monday night, we got the
draft lottery. If Philly's pick slips out of the top six,
okase he gets it, no one, no one is gonna
feel sorry for the Thunder. But yeah, this would be
This would be pretty wild.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
Before we move on, I gotta tell you Mark that
Carrie called the Nuggets winning Game one against the Thunder.
I thought he was crazy, but he called it like
he saw it. It was nuts. Let's move on, though,
to the Cavaliers and the Pacers. Here. Calv's playing the
first couple of games injured. No Evan Mobley, no Darius Garland.
(24:33):
Hunter was also out, and so now that they have
them back, are the Cavaliers cruising past this series? Because
my problem with the Pacers is that they score by committee,
and I don't know how that works in the playoffs.
We've seen Tyre's Halliburn make these incredible game winning shots,
but then he goes flat in the last game.
Speaker 6 (24:55):
Well, I gotta, I gotta push back just a little
because look, you're look, you're absolutely right. Cleveland didn't have
three of its main guys for Game two, but they
also had a seven point lead with forty eight seconds left.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Yeah, and if you have a three.
Speaker 6 (25:11):
Possession lead with forty eight seconds left, you have to
win that game. And they had enough to take that lead,
You've got to finish it off. But what the Cavs
do have going for themselves right now above all is
I mean, Donovan Mitchell is just abusing Indiana and they're
going to have to find a way to at least
(25:34):
can you keep him in the thirties? You know, I
mean he is, He is just really thriving offensively. So
tonight is you know that series is very similar to
what we're seeing right now with Denver in Okay. See,
if the Pacers can win tonight and just put Cleveland
under all kinds of pressure, you know that will be
(25:58):
another fascinate situation. But certainly. I think both Cleveland and
Boston feel pretty good about the way they rebounded and
must win game threes. I mean, they both they both delivered.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
Mark, we keep talking about the face of the NBA
and watching Donovan Mitchell in these last couple of games,
You're just like, why is Donovan Mitchell never brought up
when being the future face of the NBA.
Speaker 6 (26:26):
Well, it's interesting. He actually came into the playoffs as
like the seventh leading scorer all times in terms of
points per game, and if you look at the names
ahead of him, they are all legends of the game.
So I mean, statistically, he's always been a big time
playoff performer, but I mean he's just never been on
a team that's gone deep, and that's in the NBA
(26:47):
that's going to be held against you. And let's see.
You know this, if look like you asked me about,
if okc were to lose this series, yes, it would
be devastating and disappointing, But the Thunders still have a
really young team with a lot of optionality going forward,
and like most pretty much every team in the league
(27:11):
would probably trade their future for Oklahoma Cities no matter
what happens in this series. You know, Cleveland is a
different situa if Cleveland doesn't get to at least the
conference finals after starting the season fifteen and zho with
with with you know, the four players they've lined up
as the core of their team, which is only going
(27:32):
to get more expensive. I mean that will go down
as a major disappointment. A much Cleveland losing in this
round would be would be to me the more significant disappointment. So,
I mean what Cleveland's Cleveland's game for tonight is no
less massive than what we're watching on TV right now.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
Mark, I know it's easy to uh when you talk
about Boston and you talk about their style of play
and what they what they do to win throughout the
seasons at a lot of three pointers, right, And so
is it is it as simple as saying if they
make their threes they're going to repeat?
Speaker 3 (28:04):
Or is there more to that equation?
Speaker 6 (28:08):
Yeah, I think you have to say there's more to
it right now, because like these playoffs are such a
jumble that like, I don't know that there is a
favorite at this point now. In terms of Boston threes,
it obviously turns everybody off when they miss them and
keep taking them. I just I think it's just easier
(28:30):
said than done to just say don't do that, adjust
stop doing it, because they've like just the way the
game is played now, it's you know, it is so
three point reliant, and when you have a clean look,
you're supposed to take it. It's it's the shot your
coach wants more than anything else. So I think it's
(28:52):
easier said than done to just rain that in. But yeah,
I mean, look, we're looking it's scenario like all these
second rounds, all these home teams down to zip or
you know, even if it's one one, like, it's just
it's so we get we're not used to seeing this.
(29:12):
So it's like seeing how all these teams react. It's
kind of new territory just because you know, again we
you know, when we've had the four road teams win
game one, that's that's never happened in the sixteen team era,
which started when when I was a kid, you know,
and I'm a little bit older than you guys.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
You know, it's been an incredible playoffs so far. I
think I've enjoyed all of us had an idea of
who might come out of the Western and the Eastern Conference,
and now I'm like.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
I'm just like, I'm not entirely sure. Mark, Thank you
so much for joining us. You can follow Mark Stein
on ex Twitter at the Stein Line, our NBA insider,
a fellow Titan. Did you know he and I are Titans?
We both went to cal State Fullerton?
Speaker 7 (29:55):
No?
Speaker 3 (29:56):
Yeah, Oh, okay, this is how this happened.
Speaker 5 (29:59):
You know?
Speaker 6 (29:59):
Did you? Did you know? We're undefeated in football since
nineteen ninety two?
Speaker 2 (30:02):
That's right?
Speaker 3 (30:03):
I mean because you guys don't have a team. Okay, Mark,
I'm aware. I'm aware of Mark.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Thanks Mark, Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. We'll talk
to you soon.
Speaker 6 (30:15):
Take care, guys. Be good, Happy Mother's Day.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Happy Mother's Day. Oh that was good. I'm glad you
knew that.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
Hey, nothing gets well a few things.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Ye see. I'm not gonna be that guy.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Yeah, don't be that guy. Be sure to check out

Chris Purfet, give us a little update. What's going on?
Speaker 8 (30:50):
What is the scar time out on the course here?
Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets in game Game four,
Nuggets had a pretty good lie and that has almost
completely evaporated.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Seventy three seventy two.
Speaker 8 (31:04):
Nikola Jokich in this game with twenty two points, ten rebound,
Shay gilges Alexander with sixteen as these two teams continue
to duke it out in the Western semi finals. Elsewhere,
after a twenty one zero destruction yesterday, the Colorado Rockies,
who everyone has been starting to bury, came back and
claimed victory over the San Diego Padres nine to three today.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
Also, not to interrupt you, you know what I really liked
about that there's actual fans in the stands, Like people
are there, and I just was like, good job, Colorado.
It was not empty. They were there. I was happy
for that.
Speaker 8 (31:41):
I have a friend in Denver and apparently it's very cheap.
He was telling me he was getting beer for three dollars. Well,
there you go.
Speaker 2 (31:46):
I would be there.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Hey, put that in Put that in there and everyone
will come.
Speaker 8 (31:50):
Yankees currently destroying the Athletics top of the fifth, ten
to one. Ben Rice, their designated here hit a career
first Grand Slam end of the fifth, Orioles over the
Angels three to two, and the Dodgers bottom of the
fifth three zero over the Diamondbacks the at Kansas Speedway.
We're getting into a little Nascar here. Kyle Larson currently
(32:11):
in the lead. It's a round lap two oh nine
right now, end of the first period. Second period underway
on the ice, Winnipeg Dallas two to one lead currently
for the Dallas Stars.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
Moncey and Carrie back to you.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Thank you, Chris. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. I
am Manci Bolangas alongside former All Pro Safety Carry Roads,
Carrie Draymond Green. What he have something? Well, what did
he do? He's done a lot of things, but then
he had some things to say which made no sense
to me. And we're going to get into that on
the other side. So don't go anywhere because it's Fox
(32:45):
Sports Radio. Yeah, door listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Fox Sports Radio. I am Manci Bologos alongside former All
Pro Safety carry Roads, hanging out with this, hanging out
with you. You on this Mother's Day as this Game
four of the NBA Western Conference Semi Finals continues between
(33:06):
the Thunder and the Nuggets. If you've missed it, this
game had to combine twenty five points in the first quarter.
Speaker 5 (33:14):
Is that good?
Speaker 2 (33:17):
The lowest ever for a quarter in the NBA Playoffs?
Like ridiculous? And right now? Did he just yes?
Speaker 5 (33:25):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (33:25):
I thought it was a three? So okayc is up
seventy seven to seventy five with six minutes to go
in the game. So very different second half than it
was from the first half. Uh Draymond Green, Carrie. So here,
here's les, let's start here. I get called many things.
One of the things that I get called is a
(33:45):
spicy latina.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
Oh all the time.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
I mean, if the shoe fits, if the shoe fit, Like,
I I get why people call me that. I understand it.
Sometimes I'm like, okay, I need to I need to relax.
You know, like, if if it quacks like a duck,
walks like a duck, it's a duck. So if I've
got multiple people telling me I'm a spicy Latino, then
maybe I'm just a spicy latina. You know what I'm saying.
So I can't get mad if it's accurate, if the
(34:12):
shoe fits. If somebody said, Cary Roads, he is so zen,
you'd be like, yeah, I'm always actually, thank you so much.
I am always chill. I don't have a hot head.
I actually would be scared if you got mad, because
I don't think I've ever seen that. You've seen me annoyed, mad, pissed,
wanting to fight someone. You've seen all my emotion, right
like you. If I saw you, I'd be worried because
(34:33):
I like, no, he doesn't get like that, so I'd
be worried. But Draymond Green, we've all seen it. We
see it day in and day out, stomping on people,
choking people, shoving people. And then after their.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
Game, you you forgot the big one punching people.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
Punching people. Oh yeah, his own teammate, all of that.
But he had something to say after the game, and
this is what he had to say, look like the
angry black man.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
I'm not an angry black man, a successful, educated black
man with a great.
Speaker 9 (35:02):
Family, and I'm great at basketball.
Speaker 3 (35:05):
I'm great at what I do to the gender.
Speaker 8 (35:07):
To try to.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
Keep making me look like an angry black man is crazy.
I'm sick of it. It's ridiculous, OKAYT Mike, he dropped
the mic.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
Too, that dropped the mic. You know, you know when
I saw this, I think I was working that night,
and because I've been here five nights in a row now.
Speaker 7 (35:20):
I know.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
I know when I saw that, he he was like
moving back and forth right, and in my head, I
was like, somebody just said something to him as he
was walking whatever to the locker room to wherever. He
looked really upset. And then it did come out that
there were some fans who were apprehended or like something
went down, so you could tell that someone had just
(35:41):
said something to him, and it triggered this response, Draymond,
you are great at basketball. You are a very successful
black man. Yeah, and you are also a hot headed,
angry black man also, Like all of that can be true,
nobody and nobody has ever said that either, Like nobody's
come at him like that.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
Nope.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
But when you when there is a video of you
and all of your actions, maybe just maybe it's a
lot of there. Again, if it acts like a duck,
walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, maybe it's
a duck.
Speaker 3 (36:12):
It's a duck.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Draymond.
Speaker 4 (36:15):
Yeah, man, Yeah, obviously, yes, something happened right in that moment. Again,
I've never seen one article or any person that comments
on basketball or talks about basketball call him an angry
black man. Ever, No, that's very specific. Yes, so that
must have just happened in the moment. But again, he
has moments, a lot of moments where he looks very
(36:37):
angry and he the color of his skin, it happens
to be black. So let's let's not take it so
personal in the in the in the height of competition,
because obviously he does things of competition that are questionable.
Fans they'd only have a certain outlet to voice themselves
(36:59):
or get their point of call. And yes they're gonna
antagonize you, that's what they're kind of there, sure are, right,
But the angry black man moniker is something that obviously
throughout history has been dumped on people and as a
negative connotation. So to use that to try to reverse
engineer what's really going on at the heart of this,
That's that's where I'm upset about it with him. We
(37:21):
don't need to hear you come out on the rent
about that. After that game. That game, you guys didn't win,
you lost, Move on to the next one. We know
you've had moments, You've been great. All the things you
said are true, right. The other part of it is
true as well. You have been angry a lot in
certain situations. So it's a tough one.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
It is a tough one. It's just kind of like
you did not need to pull out this victim card
right now, not right now. And I feel like, dream
On you actually have the friendliest whistle. You have the
friendliest whistle on every based on everything that you have
done and how you listen. I anyone would take a
(37:59):
dream on their team. Anyone would take a dream On
on their team. I wish the Clippers out of dream
on their team. We talked about, talked about it. So
it's like, dream On, you have the friendliest whistle. You
are a big part of the success for the Warriors.
And so it's just kind of like you did not
need to play the victim card, especially just because he
came out so mad saying that. It was like you
(38:20):
you sound mad right now?
Speaker 3 (38:23):
Yeah, it could at least been level headed.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
For you're telling me you're not angry, but you're telling
me angry.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
You're feelming like your body is involuntarily moving. Yes, like
there's no restraint at all with him at like even
in that moment, like you just said, like his body
could not sit, steal.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
Could not system. He wanted to get that out so
bad and it was just like it did. It did
not come out the way maybe you thought it was
going to come out, Draymond. And again, you should have
been ejected so many games. You should you should have
so many more technical fouls in the in the postseason,
and not that I want you to because I do
want you on the court for the Warriors. I want
to see the Warriors at full strength. Do you want
(39:04):
to see all of these teams at full strength? But
it's just like he's the gift that keeps on giving.
It's unreal that that's what he said when again you've
choked out Rudy Gobert, which I think actually the bigger
story there is that nobody defended Rudy Gobert. But that's
a hypoconty, you know what I'm saying. Stomping on Demnta Sabonis.
(39:25):
We've seen you punch your teammate, like you said all
of that, if you were trying to take away maybe
take away from the story of Steph being her of
the Warriors losing. It didn't work. It didn't work. If anything,
you emphasized.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
It, and people, if you're listening, if you want to
let people know that you're not an angry person, don't
appear angry in the video. That's all I'm I'm going
to say that before we got here, know exactly as
I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
If I get told a maha spicy Latin, I'm like, yeah,
did I I am not.
Speaker 10 (39:55):
I'm going to say, wha Wusa, don't go anywhere.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
We're just getting started here on Fox Sports Radio. Yes, Hello, everybody,
Welcome aboard. Happy Sunday, Happy Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day
to my mom, who's the goat, Carrie's mom, who's the goat.
Speaker 3 (40:11):
Happy Mother's Day, Mom.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Happy, We love you. Happy Mother's Day to my sister
in law, Elizabeth. Love you for bringing some babies into
our family because uh, she made my mama grandma. She
made my mama grandma. Thank you Elizabeth for taking one
for the team. Appreciate you girl. We are broadcasting You're
at Fox Sports Radio in LA. Thanks for hanging out
with us. If you miss the first hour, of the show.
(40:34):
You gotta listen heavy NBA talk, and we've got game
four right now between the Western Conference or in the
Western Conference semi finals between the Thunder and the Nuggets.
A slow start shooting one is for both teams. But
it looks like Okaysey's trying to pull away here, Carrie
when it matters late in the game, three minutes to go,
(40:55):
okay See, you up eighty six to eighty.
Speaker 3 (40:57):
Yeah, k been just up and down. They were down byo.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
He just missed two free throws and okay See scores
and now they're by six instead of two, So big
big swing there.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
And he had a rough game to thirty six hours ago,
had a rough also outing they still won that one. Uh,
here they are. He's got twenty five points and ten rebounds.
But yeah, he is six of nineteen from the field.
Not what you want. The team themselves are shooting thirty
percent from the field. I know, and you know what
okay See is not shooting that much better, thirty five
(41:27):
point eight percent from the field.
Speaker 4 (41:28):
Yeah, if you're shooting thirty percent against okay See, you
should be down by forty.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
You should be It's not the case.
Speaker 4 (41:34):
Absolutely, We'll see.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
But we'll see there's still a couple of minutes to go,
and Aaron Gordon with an offensive rebound. We talked about
him in the first hour, so again you gotta check
it out with our podcast. We will be posting that
up shortly after we are done with the show. But
now we're gonna switch gears here, Gi carry sorry, I'm
looking at this game because I can't. I can't. I
need to stop. I'm gonna look at you. I'm not
(41:56):
gonna look at this game. Let's switch gears to the NFL.
We have some quarterback competition brilling we oh we sure though,
in case you missed it, that the Browns have how
many one, not.
Speaker 3 (42:09):
To two, not three, not four.
Speaker 2 (42:11):
But sinkle sinkle quarterbacks on their roster, and two of
them rookie quarterbacks coming in trying to maybe win the
starting job. And both of those rookie quarterbacks have already
spoken to the media on expectations. Here is let's start
with Shad Door Sanders.
Speaker 11 (42:29):
Thank you for saying that because I don't like my
job here isn't approved people wrong? Like I prove myself right.
That's that's that's and I and I fully self belief
with those people say that's that's just their opinion, So
I don't truly care. They don't really live in my
mental space about that type of stuff. Really didn't do
anything for me.
Speaker 2 (42:49):
And then we have Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 7 (42:51):
Yeah, I think the more questions I get asked like that,
they just divides the team and and for me, I think,
you know how, you know, we're in a room full
of not just us, but Kenny, Joe and Deshaun and
for us, you know, we know how important a healthy
kV room is, but also you know, a team that
you want to be a part of, you know, and
how do you create an environment every single day where
(43:12):
everyone can be at their best and that's just pushing
one another, which talent naturally does and you know naturally
it's healthy, you know for us where we all go
do our thing and everyone wins.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
I mean, both of them said great things. I like
what they both said, Dylan Gabriel setting that tone of
like pushing each other, wanting to make the best out
of the situation. That's what you want to hear from
a Rickie quarterback coming into a situation where there's four
other quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (43:42):
Yeah right, Yeah, this isn't about them right now. Obviously
it is because they were asked the question. But right now,
it's doing everything you can to get yourself in the
right position to be successful and your team to be successful,
and so to be a starring quarterback. Obviously there has
to be a healthy ego, and I'm and they both
have that anyway, we know that. But you have to
(44:03):
worry about right now just putting your head down and working.
All the talk really doesn't matter right now. You're in
a position, you're on a team. You have a chance
to win that position because you do. You're in the league,
and especially that position, there is no entrench starter there
and they're all going to compete to try to get
the job done. But it just starts with putting your
(44:23):
head down, getting to work, learning the place, being able
to put yourself in the best position. And I think
both of these guys will you know, we'll see what
happens with them. I mean, I think it's I think
it's fun, especially right now in this part of the
season where you have the rookie showing up and obviously
they both walk in thinking they are the guy, they
are the.
Speaker 2 (44:43):
Man, because they should they should.
Speaker 4 (44:44):
But we'll see we'll see how it goes. I'm excited
to see what happens out of there. I mean, when
it comes out of when it's all said and done.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
So what you're saying right now is don't just talk
the talk, walk the walk. Yeah, don't just say these
things because you think this is what you should be
saying and what the media wants to hear. I really
like what Shador said because I feel like this poor
I was gonna say kid, because I think he's a kid.
I feel like anybody under like twenty four years old,
because when I was twenty four to twenty three, I
was a kid. You're a kid. You're a kid, Mary,
(45:11):
you are a kid. You are a kid. Let me
just tell you that right now. Twenty three, twenty four
years old is when you kind of your frontal lobe, IY,
things start so developing fully and whatnot. Kid, he's a
kid and he has been under you know, the microscope,
under the spotlight. You can say it was brought on
to him because of his dad and he wanted it whatever.
But I like what he said where he was like,
I have to prove myself right, like you believe in yourself.
(45:35):
It's not about you guys. And I don't know if
people took that the wrong way because it is shoe door,
but I like that he said that.
Speaker 4 (45:42):
No, it's a good, good response. I mean, it's it's
self reflection at the end of the day. At the
end of the day, everybody's going to say what they
want and they're gonna have their own opinion. I mean,
two people could be watching the same thing and have
a different understanding of what that moment was, right, and
so's that's the beautiful thing about life and also the
most annoying thing about life, Like we can't have a
(46:03):
bunch of people in the same room and have the
same thought, right, And that's that's when I think the
people and the organizations and the teams and anything in
life where you can have multiple people in the same
room and share the same sentiment and the same voice,
that's when you're successful. But that's just not the overarching
theme with our world. Like somebody's going to have their opinion,
(46:26):
their hot take and want it to be right, but
that's not always the case. So put your head down
and work together and try to come out and do
something special together.
Speaker 2 (46:34):
In a perfect world, Yes, you're all on the same page, right,
But that's not reality. That's not reality. So when all
of you have different opinions and different visions but you
respect each other. Yes, and there's ego, but the ego.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
Is contained and space for other people to be themselves, to.
Speaker 2 (46:53):
Be themselves and that their own takes absolutely and to
grow and to grow. And they both kind of gave
us a little bit of that, and it's really in
a way refreshing to hear from two rookie quarterbacks coming
into a situation where I mean, yes, you're competing to
win the starting job, but I think most of us
are gonna assume that to start the season, Joe Flacco
(47:14):
will be the starting quarterback. For to start that seems
like the easy answer, right, like the first ones, right, Like,
that's probably the easy way. Not that he's going to
be the starter for the entire season or for you know,
even halfway through the first part of the season, but
it's gonna, I think, be Joe Flacco. But this is
one of the quarterback competitions going on in the NFL
(47:35):
because a couple of days ago we heard Derek Carr
retiring really in big part because of a detrimental rotator
cuff injury in his shoulder. Apparently surgery was an option,
but they just thought that surgery wasn't one hundred going
to bring him back to being a strong and whatever
(47:57):
he was expecting. So he talked it over with his
wife and his family and they decided that he was
going to retire. Now all of a sudden, New Orleans doesn't.
Speaker 4 (48:06):
Have a quarterback.
Speaker 7 (48:08):
They do.
Speaker 3 (48:08):
They got my guy, Tyler Shuck.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
Shuck also is even Lobi. When I saw his name
and somebody was like, oh, it's Shuck, I was like, no,
it's not. There's no Sea, there's no k Shuck. Yes,
they also have Spencer Rattler. Yes, they have Jay Cayner.
Speaker 3 (48:23):
Always just want when I think of him about this,
I just see that picture.
Speaker 6 (48:26):
Man.
Speaker 4 (48:26):
It's just it's insane that he took that team picture
as a as a like a I don't know, like
an old school like a Maximum magazine.
Speaker 3 (48:34):
I went to maxim that's old.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
His old school. Any magazine is old school. So at
this point, right but here in New Orleans, we remember
when we talked about this and I was like, New
Orleans should just kind of like go through the motions
of the season aout You not that that's what you
want to hear, and you don't want to hear that
as a fan, and you don't want to hear that
on the team. But there was no quarterback in this
draft class that was going to make them jump the hurdle,
(48:58):
you know, And so now here they are the Saints.
Maybe they knew this all along.
Speaker 4 (49:04):
I think they had some insight. Yeah, I don't know
if I'm sure they had insight.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Did Aaron Rodgers have insight?
Speaker 3 (49:13):
I've been seeing that tossed around.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
I'm just, you know, wondering.
Speaker 3 (49:17):
Why would he go to New Orleans?
Speaker 2 (49:18):
Though we talked about how egos, we talked about being
in charge and how the Steelers Mike Tomlin is in charge. Yes,
a little bit maybe of an easier place to step
into where the expectation might not be as high.
Speaker 4 (49:32):
Yeah, oh, I can't see him going for a new
head coach first time, Like as a new head coach
is the first time head coach, you want to implement
your your stuff and who you are and what you're
going to be. If you bring on an established veteran
and a guy that we know has had some interesting
moments with head coaches and organizations, why would you bring
(49:55):
him into that situation.
Speaker 3 (49:56):
So that's that's my thoughts.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
And I hear you. But you would bring him in
for the future of like helping this this young group
of quarterbacks. It is tough as a first time coach.
I agree with you, Yeah, but it would be helpful
for the organization for the future. I think to have
Aaron Rodgers where you have all right kids, look at him.
Learn as much as you can from him.
Speaker 3 (50:19):
For sure.
Speaker 2 (50:19):
But you're right, that's Aaron Rogers, comes with his own ego,
comes with his own probably list of rules that he
wants to implement. But I just wonder because we signed
here and we were like, how did the Steelers not
have a quarterback? How is Aaron Rodgers like hasn't made it.
We still don't know what he's doing. We don't know
if he's retiring, We don't know if he's in Cancun.
We don't know anything. I wonder if he also heard
(50:43):
rumblings that maybe there was a team that may need
a quarterback because of an injury that kind of just
came up. Maybe he didn't know all the details, but
it would make sense as to why he hadn't made
a decision.
Speaker 4 (50:55):
Yeah, No, No, you can definitely, you could definitely win that.
To the to the conversation of why he hadn't signed yet,
I just don't know why it would be advantageous for
the Saints. Yeah, and that's the only reason. I mean, yeah,
I mean the stuff that he's doing and what he
wants to, what he wants to be, and who he
wants to be at this time in his career. I
(51:16):
just don't know if he wants to go to a
team that's rebuilding.
Speaker 2 (51:18):
Okay, So back to what I was saying of, like
the what if the Saints just kind of went through
the motions for this year bringing in Aaron Rodgers for
a year? Would that not entice you to at least
go watch a Saints game to see air So there's
there are positives to it, a like, but I'm with you, like,
I guess I have forgot first year coach and that
(51:40):
dynamic like that is a big maybe a big reason
as to why not to do it. But even if
you are just rebuilding, rebuilding with him helping your quarterbacks
for the future would be something beneficial to the team. Yeah, absolutely,
But I guess I just I just want answers from
(52:01):
Aaron Rodgers to be honest with you, and you know,
maybe maybe Adam Kaplan has these answers for us.
Speaker 3 (52:06):
Adam probably has.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
Adam has that, So let's check in with Adam on
the other side of this. Our NFL insider, don't go anywhere.
It's Fox Sports Radio. He's Carrie and I'm Anci. What's
up everybody? Happy Sunday, Happy Mother's Day. I'm Ancy Belanos.
Alongside former All Pro safety Carry Roads, the Oklahoma City
Thunder have survived Game four. They beat the Denver Nuggets
(52:32):
ninety two to eighty seven. Series is tied at tow apiece.
If you missed it, it was an interesting shooting performance
from both teams. Yeah, from both teams. But hey, Thunder wins,
and that's what matters. It's two two instead of three
to one.
Speaker 3 (52:48):
That's all that matters in the playoffs. Getting the win
doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (52:50):
If it's ugly, pretty historically bad, which the first quarter was,
but so bad.
Speaker 3 (52:56):
They got the win.
Speaker 4 (52:57):
Now it's two two, and I think, okay, see feels
a lot better about themselves.
Speaker 2 (53:01):
Yeah, I can take it. I don't know if a
lot better. I don't know about that. We're gonna to
talk about that then after this, but we're gonna switch
gears and continue here with the NFL with our NFL insider,
Adam Kaplan. Adam, how are you.
Speaker 9 (53:15):
To talk to? Yeah? Man, the NBA playoffs are always great.
Speaker 2 (53:18):
They especially this year. It's just everything is not what
I think I thought or what people expected, starting with
the Clippers being bumped out. But that's another yeah. Yeah, yeah,
Adam O, Adam, that's my team. You should have heard
me yelling for like two weeks. I was like, I'm
going to the finals. I'm going to the finals. I
don't know what you guys are doing, but I'm going
to the finals.
Speaker 3 (53:38):
Adam. You do not go around at the gas on
you know.
Speaker 9 (53:41):
Yeah, I get it. So a guy I grew up
with is the personnel director for the Nuggets, Jimmy Clebunoff,
So I'm cheering for him.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (53:49):
So it's it's cool. Yeah, it's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (53:52):
Steart, I like, I like Denver. I have nothing against Denver,
and watching them play now, it's just kind of like
they're They're just as good, if not better, and they
deserve to be where they are.
Speaker 9 (54:01):
Look after firing the GM and the head coach, I mean,
this is this is crazy. What's happening? Yeah, like the NFL,
like it just doesn't. It doesn't happen that way because again,
you usually fire one, not both. It's really interesting.
Speaker 4 (54:14):
Yeah, No, or you just hire in the surplus like
you know, like like the Cleveland Browns did at the
quarterback position, right, Yeah, you stockpile those things and you
just overcopy sate for how bad it's been.
Speaker 9 (54:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (54:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (54:26):
But speaking about speaking about the uh that quarterback room,
we we have some interesting sound bites from Sidor Sanders
and Dylan Gabriel about their their situation at the quarterback
room there and what their expectations are. What are your
expectations for that room? And who do you see actually
taking over that position? Obviously Flock Gos the guy that's
(54:46):
probably going to be Yeah, first first up, But what
do you see hes taken out there?
Speaker 3 (54:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (54:51):
And Kenny Pickt on the Fani Ris rookie deal and
the other two guys. So my money would be on Flacco.
You know, I know it was two years ago, but
he you know, when he he came in late in
the season, put the team on his back. He was incredible.
He's in really good physical shape. They're not at the
point here where they feel like they're gonna have to
turn to one of these young guys. Now, we always
(55:11):
open it up. We know for training camp. If Pickett,
Gabriel or Sanders has a great preseason training camp, that
changes it. But my expectation would be Flacco early on.
See how it goes. Now, Joe has a shelf life
typically the way it's been for him for selver years.
He's good for a while and then and then it
kind of implodes on him, and that's when you go
to the young kids. Now, Dylan Gabriel is interesting. He's
(55:34):
got a good arm. You know, he's he's smaller than
six feet. I saw him at to senior ball. Look,
I go back to Russell Wilson in twenty twelve with
the senior ball five ten and a half. He was
phenomenal there.
Speaker 3 (55:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (55:49):
In fact, I remember calling my friend Greco's self of
NFL Films. I said, I don't know if you've seen
his tape yet, but this, this Russell Wilson looks incredible.
I just don't know that if the league's ready for
someone short, and he got drafted in the third round,
and you obviously know what happened. So Gabriel's got an
arm here. Now he's for a little guy, he's put
together fairly well. I just I know the way the
(56:12):
league sees him. They think he's too small. But again
he went in the third round. Sure is way more talented.
Let's call it like it if Shudur had you know,
other issues which we've talked about, which is why he
didn't go earlier. And then Pickett was severely overdrafted by
the Steelers. He's now in his third team. Arms strength
is not good enough, doesn't process super well. Did a
good job, by the way for the Eagles when he
had to play last Yeme. But yeah, it's just it's
(56:34):
just not good enough yet, right, Monsie, it's just not
good enough. I just sent him back to you. So
I'm gonna say flak early on. And some are what's
their eliminated from the playoffs? You know you're talking lately
around Thanksgiving a little bit later. It depends behind the scenes.
Who's doing the best out of particularly Sanders are Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 2 (56:53):
You know, last week or two weeks ago we chatted
with you about the Saints and Derek Carr's injury. Now
we know he's retired, So there's another quarterback competition brewing
in New Orleans. Jay Kyner, Spencer Rattler, Tyler Shuck. Who
is your your dude, your guy that you like? My question, Adam,
did Aaron Rodgers have insight that maybe this was going
(57:16):
on in New Orleans and that's why he never decided
where he wanted to play.
Speaker 9 (57:21):
He has I'm going to trust what he said because
I know the Steelers have the same story that he
He has this issue that he's dealing with his private
life and that's that's what's going on here, and Steelers
have remained very confident they're going to get him.
Speaker 2 (57:38):
Wow.
Speaker 9 (57:39):
Yeah, so look if if the bails, and but here's
the thing, where the Saints going let's just take this
a little further. Where the Saints going here far? I know,
I know better quarterback play would help. Yeah, but they've
been stuck in neutral for years, just since Sean Payton left,
They've been on their way down. They haven't been able
to figure out a quarterback. The Steelers won in Bailet,
(58:01):
I mean, I hate to say they built their whole
off season around him, but they they didn't address the
quarterback position in the draft at all. Which is probably
surprised to some. And they obviously, you know, what to
George Pickens trade, but that has not changed their mind
as I understand it, that's not changed in my one bit.
They they want Aaron Rodgers, and you know that's kind
of where they've been.
Speaker 2 (58:20):
George Pickens no longer a stealer over in Dallas. Now
does that really make Dallas, you know, jump up a
couple spots in your opinion With George Pickens. We know
there's been a bit of a personality issue. So then
he goes he's going to join Cde Lamb obviously be
a wide receiver too. But do you see that working.
Do you see that being successful and pushing the Cowboys
(58:41):
over their own home?
Speaker 9 (58:43):
Huh, it'll monsie. So here's the story with Dallas and
George Pickens. So the Cowboys had been searching at the
beginning of free agency for a number two receiver. They
moved on for Brandon Cooks. They wanted some one to
start opposite Ceedee Lamb, and you know, they went through,
you know, a list of players. It just didn't work out.
They looked at the draft, didn't really work out there,
(59:06):
and they My understanding is they had some kind of
conversations the Cabaysy with the Steelers prior prior to this
week's trade, but the real talk came this week and
the Steelers. The real store on Steelers is that they've
been trying to move him for months. They had enough
of him's He's very hard to manage and as a
(59:28):
source close to the coaching staff told me that there
was really simply no way that Pickens could play this
season without getting his contract extend, and they were not
going to extend it because they know he's combustible, he's
very hard to coach. Yes, he's immensely talented. He doesn't
always show up on time. He's just he's hard to manage.
And you know, the Steelers have moved away from from
Deontay Johnson, Chase Claypool. They also missed on we know
(59:52):
about Antonio Brown. I don't know what it is with
this receiver position, but they've moved on from a number
of guys and they drip by the way. They're all talented.
That's the funny thing. Nicklay Pole, he's out of the NFL.
That was a bad draft pick, but.
Speaker 3 (01:00:04):
Wow, is he out of the league.
Speaker 9 (01:00:06):
Yeah, he's out of the league. Yeah, that was a
not only was that a miss that Ryan Paul's a
GM of the Bears gape a secon round pick form,
which is embarrassing. Was actually went up being the first
pick of the second round. Wow, that they gave up.
But it pickens here. Look, he's going to solve this
issue right now. The Cowboys, as I understand it, don't
have any interest right now and extending this contract. We'll
(01:00:28):
see how he handles himself. But the one thing about
Jerry Jones is you could say whatever you want. They
number one, They drift pretty well. They more than most
teams are willing to take chances on character to talk about
football character. This has been an ongoing problem for decades
with Jerry Jones, who, by the way, makes all the personnel.
Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
Decisions with So I'm going to go back to the Steelers.
And I didn't mean to do this, but it's just
what you said about Aaron Rodgers really possibly going to
the Steelers. I can't get over that. Let's say he
doesn't do Steelers. Maybe there's been chatter. I can't believe
it that the Steelers may want a tank. No, right,
(01:01:07):
there's no way, right, Like Mike Dolin will not allow that.
Speaker 9 (01:01:10):
No, I mean they made the trade for DK Metcalf,
number one right now. You could look at their roster
and on Rogers, Bails and Mason Rudolph. I know talking
to Steelers, they speak very highly of them, and I
could certainly see him doing what he did two years ago,
three four, maybe as many six games you could get
away with it. But they're not special running back. They're
(01:01:32):
not good in their offensive line, though they feel it
could be the best they put together in years. But
you've got one receivers accomplished anything that's d K Metcalf.
Robert Woods now is near the end of his career.
They signed as a free agent, came over from the Texans.
They're an absolute mess on offense right now. I just
they're not a Look, they're not a playoff team. Without
a competent quarterback, they're not gonna be able to overcome it.
(01:01:55):
But no, they made the trade for Metcalf because they
they they knew in the back of their minds that
they are probably gonna move pickings. What surprised me is
they they didn't address the position in the draft. Now
they Robin Wilson right now will be expected to start
opposite Metcalf. He messed almost the entire season last year
with what I'm told was a high ankle sprain and
a hamstring strain, so he just didn't really contribute as
a rookie. But they're ready for him to rock and
(01:02:18):
roll here. Doesn't mean they can't add another player, but
right now he's probably gonna start.
Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
Adam So, I mean, it's so much going on. All
seasons always fun.
Speaker 4 (01:02:25):
I mean, you get to talk about scenarios, you get
to talk about teams and you know, fulfilling their needs possibly,
but you still don't know until the games actually start.
I mean, how much how much of the early chatter
in this time, how much does it really carry over
to the regular season, and and and you've been around
it for so long, Yeah, like the disappointment factor of
(01:02:46):
players and the it's like the disappointment factor for players
versus the actual outcome where that talent actually supersedes that.
How much do you weigh weigh those things when you
look at these these factors that.
Speaker 9 (01:02:59):
Are happening right now in terms of like what you mean.
Speaker 4 (01:03:04):
Like the like the teams you have, you have, you
bring players in. You also you're bring those players in
for needs and you expect them to be a certain way, okay,
and the failure happens a lot of times, but a
lot of times it pans out like how much does
that really translate when it when it comes to the.
Speaker 9 (01:03:19):
Well, free agency is yeah, freeergency is not like Major
leagu Baseball free and c It's harder because as you
know as a former player, changing schemes, coaching staffs, it's hard,
but by position. But what happens is look in ot
is as you know, there's there's no contact. Really you don't.
I don't read into much. You just look. You talk
to the club. You get an idea of where they're at.
But what I like to do carry when I go
(01:03:40):
to training camps. I mean, you could be fooled. I've
been fooled before. I'll admit it because you spend I
like to spend two days if I can, depending on
my schedule. Get around the coaches in the front office.
Just get an idea of what they think. And the
truth tellers see that the front offices sometimes don't because
it's their players. They're not always willing to tell you.
Depending who you speak with, it's the coaches who will
(01:04:02):
tell you where the players are at. But the thing
is because they're carry when you were probably playing. Maybe
there's more hitting in training camp, you're not getting hit.
And what I love though, and this happened to me.
I'll give you an example. So I was at I
was at was the Browns hosting the Eagles in twenty
two for a joint practice, and I was around a
(01:04:24):
former head coach who was on a training camp tour.
He was just visiting teams, and I said, what do
you think? You know, you and I were here for
two days. What do you think of both teams? He goes,
this Philadelphia team is a super Bowl team? Like really,
why do you feel it? Way he goes, the roster
is incredible. I mean he goes, I don't know that
there's a better roster of the National Football League, and
the Syrian is a pretty good coach. I'm like, wow, okay,
(01:04:44):
now that guy was right. They didn't like the Super Bowl.
But you can go you could just go to a
training camp and go, wow, this team's loaded and they
wind up being really badly. You just don't know. You
think you know, now the quarterback play has a lot
to do with it. Carry, you know, is coaching has
a lot to do with it. Can they reach your players?
Do you have a coach? Can you connect with your players? Look,
(01:05:05):
we've been full before, you know, like for instance, when
Dan quit. Yeah, when you look at when you look
at Dan Campbell, Right, I'll give you one more examp
before I get out of here. Right. So everyone made
fun of him as opening press conference.
Speaker 7 (01:05:16):
Right.
Speaker 9 (01:05:17):
They weren't great their first year, but when you add
when you have a general manager like Brad Holmes who
was very aggressive and starts nay on these drafts, then
you could see what they could possibly be. So they
were my breakout team like three years ago. I know,
I was Twith be told I was out their training
camp and go, Wow, they're much better and golf looks
(01:05:37):
like this Ben Johnson, we didn't know much about Ben Johnson.
It looked pretty good. But there are things you're just
not going to. Ben Johnson's another one no one really knew.
You just don't know until you get there. That's part
of what your question is is you could be fooled. Yes,
you could be fooled.
Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
Are the Titans going to be fooled with cam Ward?
Because this is my last question. Yeah, there's already really
positive feedback already that he's a great.
Speaker 9 (01:06:00):
Yeah, well he's a This is what one person told
me closest situation. He's super serious about football. He now,
he played for three different programs, but he ended up
in Miami. He's a super aggressive thrower, very serious about football.
He's not into you know, the promotion stuff. They have
a really interesting front office, probably one of the most
(01:06:21):
loaded front offices that I can remember. A lot of
guys from different organizations who have won a lot, but
the roster, you know, one of the worst rotters in
the national football They've rebuilt their offensive line Monty. What
they have to do is help him. Yeah, at receiver,
the receiver position other than Calvin Ridley, they don't really
have much they're going to have. This is another team
(01:06:43):
since twenty twenty three. Now they have five new starters
on their offensive line. It's just do they have enough
around him? And they do. The other thing is the
defense is are very talented. You hope that they're not
behind a lot where he's got to throw a lot.
But that's a team. It's going to be more competitive. Okay,
I'm a cam Wards supporter, all right, uh I just
paid on the information I have now on Carrie's question. Right, Yeah,
(01:07:07):
there's a rookie quarterback. It doesn't mean he won't talk.
I just we don't know yet, right, and now I'm
going to be in Jacksonville. You know, I can't wait
to see Hunter. I'm very curious the way they're going
to Moncia, how they're going to use him. Why No,
they say mostly offense. But that's a team. Yeah, that
that's a team that could be fascinating this season, the Jaguars.
Speaker 2 (01:07:26):
I mean, we're all just waiting for week one.
Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
Yeah, I need to know.
Speaker 2 (01:07:30):
Right week one. Not we're waiting for a week one
at from training camps. Yes, I was just about to say,
we're gonna be talking to you until week one.
Speaker 4 (01:07:39):
And then some I'm going to meet I'm going to
meet Adam in one of these training to get Yeah.
Speaker 9 (01:07:42):
We love that. Yeah. Yeah, you were now on radio
road this year.
Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
I no, I haven't, Yeah, no, I was.
Speaker 9 (01:07:49):
We got to get you out there, man, I'll come
out there.
Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
Okay, Adam, thank you, We appreciate you so much. Let's
check in with you next week so we can get
more details of the season. By Adam oh Man.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
I just want the season to get here, that.
Speaker 4 (01:08:08):
Part, because all the chatter around it it's always it's hopeful.
It's super negative because some teams are bad from last
year and so like there is no glimmer of hope
and none of that matters in the NFL. The NFL
is one of those things where each season is totally
a different thing. And it's crazy because well, I mean,
(01:08:28):
some teams are historically bad and continue to lose in
New York Jets, but right, but teams have been sucky
one year in the next year make a deep run.
Speaker 2 (01:08:37):
It's just you truly don't know. With the Texans a
perfect example, and I am really curious to see what
the Titans are able to do this year.
Speaker 3 (01:08:45):
With camwell as well.
Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
I just want to see it for myself.
Speaker 9 (01:08:49):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:08:49):
It's like, like you said, you can have these ideas.
You can look at tape and be like, oh, he's
going to be so good, but does it actually translate
the way you have it in your head.
Speaker 4 (01:08:56):
Everybody looks good and schwell, most people look good in shorts,
people of good, you know, But when the pats start
popping and you got to make real split quick decisions.
Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
It's a different thing.
Speaker 2 (01:09:07):
Things change, Things change. Oh, a fight on the ice.
Chris Purfet has moved over to the anchor desk.
Speaker 3 (01:09:16):
Is that Chris?
Speaker 2 (01:09:16):
That is Chris? It is me, Hey Chris, what is
going on?
Speaker 9 (01:09:20):
Well?
Speaker 8 (01:09:20):
Happy Mother's Day. I'm gonna get to what everything's been
going on. But first, since we're talking Mother's Day, let's
talk about a baseball game earlier today where a story
of two brothers and their mothers. Is the first time
two brothers and opposite teams have faced each other on
Mother's Day since nineteen sixty nine. That is Jeez and
Josh Young between the two teams, by the way, also
(01:09:43):
picking up traction because they both play third base, and
apparently during the game and during the series they've been
playing Tic tac toe nice right past third base.
Speaker 2 (01:09:51):
Nice.
Speaker 8 (01:09:52):
But before the game, their mother, Mary Young, delivered the
game ball and her brothers joined her on the field.
Josh Young in this game for the Rangers, hitting a
two round home run in the fifth inning Tigers. Rangers
defeat the Tigers six to one. However, as we've been
talking about, the Oklahoma City Thunder have defeated the Denver
Nuggets ninety two eighty seven, taking a two to one game,
(01:10:17):
a one game lead here as they head Denver. Lea's
a series two one. Excuse me, I don't know why.
Speaker 3 (01:10:23):
I'm my head's like being a weird right now. Don't
worry about that.
Speaker 8 (01:10:26):
Twenty five points for Shay Gil just Alexander in this game.
As you mentioned on the ice, right now, it is
the third period, Winnipeg and Dallas all tied up, just
got after a little nasty fight. The tying goal from
Nino knider Rider as oh, and I'm sorry, Dallas has
just scored as we speak here, we don't they have
(01:10:47):
taken the lead right now. That series tied one to one.
In the Stanley Cup playoffs. Elsewhere in baseball, Freddie Freeman
hit a seventh rown I'm a seventh inning home run
Dodgers over the Diamondbacks five.
Speaker 3 (01:11:00):
To one right now in the eighth inning.
Speaker 8 (01:11:02):
Yankees all over the Athletics twelve to two in the
eighth inning. Ben Rice his first career Grand Slam in
that game. Yes, Kyle Larson dominated at Kansas Speedway, led
twenty to two hundred and twenty one of two hundred
and sixty seven laps, swept all three Stages as his
thirty second career win in NASCAR, and at the Truest
(01:11:24):
Championship in Philadelphia in the PGA Tour, Ccepstraca took the
win narrowly beating Justin Thomas and Seane Lowry by two strokes.
Speaker 3 (01:11:32):
Moncey, Carrie, back to you.
Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
Thanks, Chris. You are listening to Fox Sports Radio, as
you heard Chris, I'm Moncey. He's Carrie, Carrie. I want
to get into carry on or off because there's something
I want to ask you about that I have right
in front of me, and I no, let's save it
for carry on or favor. Yeah, let's let's let's get
to break so we can actually dive into something that
(01:11:56):
I'm dying to ask you about. Don't go anywhere. It's
Fox Sports Radio, Fox Farts Sunday. All right, Carrie, I'm
gonna present you a couple of scenarios, and I just
want you to tell me if you carry on or
you carry off? All right, how do you feel about
(01:12:17):
rookies in the NFL holding out on their contract rookies?
Speaker 4 (01:12:23):
Yeah, I'm gonna carry on on that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
You're gonna carry on.
Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
You're gonna carry on on.
Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
That carry Yes, you're carrying.
Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
I'm gonna carry on. I'm gonna tell you what.
Speaker 2 (01:12:34):
Let's explain this to me.
Speaker 4 (01:12:35):
There are different rookies now in this in this league.
They are they know their value, they know they're worth,
they know that they're not just a commodity anymore. And
so when you step into any workplace, you want to
get your value. It's not about the team yet. You
haven't stepped on that field. You're not a part of
the team yet. You're somebody that they're investing in and
(01:12:57):
wanting to be a part of that team. If you
want me to be a part of that team, pay
me my value. So I'm going to carry on with
that one. It could have been a different answer a
little while back. But right now, but.
Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
Now because of the situation we are in, Like you
mean nil and all of that. Okay, do you know
what I'm talking about. But Bengals defensive end Shamar Stewart,
there's seventeenth overall pick has not signed his papers.
Speaker 3 (01:13:24):
They need to sign him. They need defensive help.
Speaker 2 (01:13:26):
But it's like it's the details as to what in
the contract he doesn't like, We don't know, but it's
doesn't he don't the rookies have like a set amount,
Like the amount of money he's gonna make is not
already set.
Speaker 3 (01:13:39):
There's a scale note but no, no as a seventeenth pick.
Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
Yeah, seventeenth pick.
Speaker 3 (01:13:43):
There's there's their money can definitely.
Speaker 2 (01:13:48):
I was like, man, I think this is the beginning
of something we're going to see more. But I just
I'm still not for it.
Speaker 4 (01:13:55):
I mean, I get it, and I understand I wasn't either.
I mean there was there was a rookie that came
in when I was playing that was holding out, and
I had these judgments like what.
Speaker 9 (01:14:06):
Is this guy?
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
Who does this guy think he is?
Speaker 7 (01:14:07):
What is he?
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
A little bit it's hard to not immediately go to
that when you're a rookie.
Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
That's what that guy would be, drell reebis And I
think it worked out really well.
Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
Okay, all right, fine, fine, fine, all right, Carrie, are
you on or off going under anesthesia to get a
full back tattoo?
Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
I am carrying off.
Speaker 2 (01:14:29):
On that, thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:14:31):
No, yeah, number one, I'm not a tattoo guy. I
have I have to, but I'm not. Like, for all
my life, I thought that was the tackiest thing to
ever I thought, and then to see somebody be put
under anesthesia, like really risking your life or a back
tattoo is insane, It's absurd.
Speaker 2 (01:14:49):
CLT Quarterback Anthony seven hours, seven hours. It is so
soft it is And also you're cheating. You are absolutely
cheating what it's like to get a tattoo. I don't
have a tattoo because I don't want to deal with
the pain and the needles. I also don't know what
I want on my body forever. But in reality, like
Anthony Richardson and I are the same, neither of us
(01:15:11):
know what it's like to get a tattoo.
Speaker 3 (01:15:13):
He doesn't know what he doesn't know what it's like.
Speaker 2 (01:15:15):
He does not know what it's like. That is cheating.
That is swaw.
Speaker 4 (01:15:18):
That is not cool and dangerous dangerous.
Speaker 3 (01:15:21):
It is dangerous.
Speaker 2 (01:15:22):
Like why don't you study film for seven hours while
you're getting your I'm just said, fine, watch seven hours
of Game of Thrones. I don't know, you have to.
You have to live through that.
Speaker 3 (01:15:33):
Seven hours is a lot of any if.
Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
You want to do that, right, Like everybody else that
doesn't have money like that will sit through it.
Speaker 3 (01:15:40):
See that's weird, Yes, it is weird.
Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
I'm off all right, Carrie, are you on or off
coaches introducing a new teammate by using their film.
Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
I'm on that. I'm carrying on on that one. That
was cool.
Speaker 4 (01:15:55):
I saw that McVeigh was introducing yes, demonte items onto
the team and showed that showed the team the highlights
of his career and just the type of player you're
getting in Like that was really cool, so good.
Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
I loved it too. I saw it. I felt like
I was getting the chills for Devontae Adams and the
teammates using highlights like this is the guy that's joining us.
How cool is this?
Speaker 3 (01:16:19):
That's cool?
Speaker 2 (01:16:20):
Super super I'm with you on that one. All right,
here we go, Carrie. Are you honor off Manny Pakiao
coming out of retirement to box again?
Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
Man carry off? I don't even think about that one. Yeah, Manny,
go be the president of your country.
Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
What you were doing? I know you're doing. I know
you've done a lot of things.
Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
A lot of things.
Speaker 3 (01:16:41):
Yes, it's been super successful.
Speaker 4 (01:16:42):
And I'm not here to say not running on your
parade and say you can't do it. I'm sure you're
still in shape and can do it whatever. I don't
want to see older gentlemen fighting.
Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
Right, because it's like a gimmick at this point.
Speaker 4 (01:16:53):
Right, gimmick. It's money, Like people are paying to see
these things. Right, But I don't want to see that.
I didn't want to see my tyson lose to Paul either,
Like I don't want that.
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
I don't either. I'm with you, speaking of gimmicks, there
is one I'm on board for. But let me get
your thoughts on. Are you carry on or off the
Savannah bananas? Do you know what that is?
Speaker 9 (01:17:14):
I do?
Speaker 3 (01:17:15):
I'm carrying off on those.
Speaker 4 (01:17:16):
I don't like it. No, I thought it was the
first time I saw it, I thought it was cool.
They were dancing, the umps up was dancing. All these
things were happening.
Speaker 3 (01:17:25):
It was fat clips, it was fun, it was festive.
Speaker 4 (01:17:28):
Now I'm annoyed. I'm like the angry I'm like the
angry old man. I am that guy. Now I've graduated
to that. So play baseball.
Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
But it's I'm you know, I was actually opposite. So
at first I didn't like it. The first time I
saw it, I was like, this is stupid, this is
not baseball. And now I'm like, this is not baseball.
This is a showertainment this is a form of entertainment.
This is a show. And the fact that they are
selling out at stadiums all lacrosse.
Speaker 4 (01:18:01):
It's it's it's it's women of all ages at the
games watching the data.
Speaker 2 (01:18:06):
Everybody's there, everybody because it's like it's a show, is
an actual show. I cannot believe the amount of attention
and traction that they have gotten over the years where
they're actually selling out in different stadiums. But I'm not
gonna lie like I kind of want to go.
Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
You know what, you might be getting me back on board.
Speaker 2 (01:18:25):
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (01:18:25):
I switched at to carry on real quick. You carry on?
D Yes, Yes, let's go away.
Speaker 2 (01:18:34):
We should we should look into it. See. Oh guys,
let's all watch the Savannah Bananas. Don't go anywhere. This
is Fox Sports Radio. I'm Manci, He's carry and we're
still gonna dive back into the NBA because the Knicks
and the Celtics are something. Don't go anywhere. What's up? Everybody?
Happy Sunday, Happy Mother's Day. Thanks for tuning in to
(01:18:57):
Fox Sports Radio to hang out with care and I.
This is our final hour. It always goes by so fast,
and I don't know how we get through it because
we have so many things we want to talk about
every single time, and then I'm like, oh, we forgot
to mention that. Oh we forgot to talk about that.
And one of the things that I wanted to mention
to you earlier in the show and discuss completely, I
(01:19:20):
forgot about it. So we're gonna start with it. Nicks
and the Celtics, all right, So Game four will be tomorrow,
and this is I thought game three. I was like,
the Knicks have to win game three. They have to
win Game three because the Celtics are such a well
(01:19:41):
oiled machine that you needed to come out and step
on their throats. You needed to come out and make
them cry. You needed to come out. I was like,
what is that. You needed to come out and make
them just second guess everything they've done the entire season,
because in the first two games, the Celtics did not
(01:20:03):
shoot the ball. Well, the Celtics did not do their thing,
which was shoot the three None of them did, and
it was very surprising to see it in back to
back games. I mean literally, Paul Pierce said, They're never
gonna lose Game two. I'm gonna walk a miles y'all,
he did not walk a miles, but I do appreciate
that he joked about it and did walk something and
like did the whole thing right, Like that was fine,
(01:20:24):
that's fine, that was fine. But now I know it's
I know New York is up two to one. But
the Celtics back in their groove, back in their groove
after Game three.
Speaker 4 (01:20:34):
And the crazy part about what you said and what
we are seeing. What we saw. They didn't shoot well
in those first two games. They were up twenty in
both of those games. Still, so that was the reason
I wasn't I didn't think this series was over or
I thought that the Knicks Warren control of this series
at all.
Speaker 3 (01:20:54):
They haven't been.
Speaker 4 (01:20:54):
No, the Celtics have allowed them to come back and
win those two games, and obviously the Knicks have to
do something to claim the victories. But so I don't
want to just discredit them. But yeah, the Celtics, even
when they don't shoot the ball well. And this is
kind of what we talked about earlier with Mark Stein, Right,
is it as easy as them just not shooting the ball.
(01:21:15):
And the reason they lost those first two games, no,
because they didn't shoot the ball well. But they played
well enough to still win those games until the fourth quarter.
And then now you come back in Game three and
they still play the same way with intensity, lockdown on defense,
and finally made shots. And if they make shots, I
don't think anybody anybody And that's why I kind of
(01:21:35):
brought up.
Speaker 2 (01:21:35):
Earlier, which we've talked about, right, I have said, I
think the East is the Celtics to lose because they
all can shoot the ball. They all can shoot the
ball well. Peyton Pritchard would be a starter on a
different team, Like they run deep. And it was surprising
to see a team that has been there. We talked
about being there, being battle tested, a team that has
(01:21:57):
been there, the defending champions, to not shut the door
close in the third quarter or fourth quarter. It was
shocking to see that. Maybe they weren't expecting the Knicks
to not give up. Like there was the Boston broadcast.
I don't know who exactly, but there was this broadcast
where they said the Knicks were cockerroaches and like that's
not the right word.
Speaker 7 (01:22:17):
Scal.
Speaker 3 (01:22:18):
I don't Ryan Scal.
Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
That does not sound familiar. It was a guy and
a girl. It was a guy and a girl. And
they use the term cockerroaches, and I just was like,
I don't know if I would have used that term.
But what they were trying to say is that they
would not go away. They would not die, you know,
like cockerroaches don't die, they really don't. So I understood
what they were trying to say. I just don't know
if that was the word, you know, but hey, it
(01:22:41):
was Boston. They were trying to find the silver lining
as to why they lost. But the Knicks would not
go away. Give them the credit for that. And if
we have seen one person be clutch throughout the playoffs,
it's been Jaylen Brunson. Jalen Brunson has delivered in every
single game. We see the stars coming in and out
(01:23:01):
of these games, like, oh, Tyrese Halliburn had a bad
last game, Shake Gildas Alexander doesn't take a shot in overtime,
Nikola Jokic not shooting the ball well, Jason Tatum not
taking over in the end when it mattered in games
one and two. We've seen all of these stars not
consistently delivered, and I feel like Jaylen Brunson has consistently
(01:23:22):
delivered for the next.
Speaker 4 (01:23:23):
He won the clutch Player of the Year co reason. Yeah,
he's been that steady enforce for them since he's gotten there.
It hasn't changed. I mean in the big moments, he's
the biggest and so and it's crazy. I mean we
had him in Dallas and I saw this in his
last in.
Speaker 3 (01:23:37):
This last year.
Speaker 4 (01:23:38):
I saw how good he could be when they actually
allowed him to be. And that's the case with a
lot of these players. When they get in the situations
where they have a chance to be the man yep
and show their full potential, it's always a beautiful thing
to see. And so Jalen has been that guy for them.
I don't think it'll be enough for them in this series,
but man, he's he's been a bright spot and something
(01:23:59):
that I think a lot of people didn't see coming
at all.
Speaker 2 (01:24:02):
Jalen Brunson who wanted to stay in Dallas. He wanted
to stand, he wanted to stay in Dallas, and they
did not want to extend him when he asked for it,
and then he blew up and then they were like,
oh no, no, no, no, we do want you. And he's like, okay,
well now the price is going off right. It's like
you missed an opportunity because he wanted to stay in Dallas.
Speaker 4 (01:24:18):
And he did before they also, I think he was
doing an All Star break they he would have taken the
offer that was.
Speaker 3 (01:24:24):
So low, so low, so low, And now he's giving this.
Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
Thing in New York and they dropped the ball. But yes,
Jalen Brunson and with the Knicks are doing incredible. But
I truly feel like if the Celtics win the next three,
I'm not surprised. No, no, that's a really big possibility.
Speaker 9 (01:24:40):
In my mind.
Speaker 4 (01:24:41):
They should be up three erho, they should be up
three h And it's just it's, you know, it is
what it is right now. Their reality is they're down
one too. But yeah, I mean, I wouldn't be surprised
if they won all four. And it's crazy they're doing
this without a healthy Christos porzingis with this, with this
some kind of virus thing he has going on that
nobody knows about.
Speaker 2 (01:25:00):
He knows it's keeping him weak.
Speaker 4 (01:25:02):
Yeah, you can see it till he's out there playing.
He can only play in spurts. Yeah, it's tough to watch,
but again they're still because they're so just.
Speaker 2 (01:25:11):
So deep and Jason Tatum is a true score. Like
sometimes maybe he gets criticized I think a little bit
too much for what he does. And he's already a
champion and all that, but it's just because he's not
in your face. It's like he almost doesn't have the
dog in him, and we want him to have the
dog in him right like he's it's I think that's
what it is. It's like, we want you to be
(01:25:32):
a little bit more of a dog and want to
crush people, but he uses not that in him.
Speaker 4 (01:25:37):
You know, I don't know if that's Yeah, I think
it does present itself. But when he said a statement
after the game yesterday, yeah, yesterday, and he said, people
are like, why don't you get mad or come in
super angry in games like this? And he's like, if
you do something that's outside of yourself or be somebody
(01:25:58):
outside of yourself, you're not helping your team out because
you're not bringing the person that they're used to seeing
on a day and day out basis. So it shakes
the foundation to the core if somebody comes out and
acts out of character, out of care. So the way
he said it, I was like, makes sense.
Speaker 2 (01:26:15):
I didn't know he said that, but it makes perfect sense.
It's like, I'm not gonna be something I'm not and
he's he's great. He's so great, yeah, and already a champion.
So it's like we just we want to criticize him
just because he's a Celtic, I think, right like that's
a big part of it. If he wasn't a Celtic,
I don't know if he would get the criticism that
he gets. Another guy that gets a lot of criticism
(01:26:36):
in the NBA, I think you've heard of him, Lebron James.
Lebron Lebron James. Lebron James had some things to say
in a recent podcast with Steve Nash, and I think
we have the sound of Lebron.
Speaker 12 (01:26:54):
We don't know, so Lebron came out. We don't actually
have the audio, but so Lebron came out. Iron Remember
I saw this on like Twitter a while ago. I
was trying to look for it right now. It's when
you look at Lebron James, a lot of things come.
Speaker 3 (01:27:05):
Up, a lot of things.
Speaker 12 (01:27:08):
So he basically came out and said that with Luca
when he's looking at like for other things to do,
and like when he's trying to get his contract ready.
He basically said, Hey, I'm forty years old, Luca barely
twenty six. This kid needs to not think about me
in his future here, and the Luca move was a
(01:27:29):
future move, and everything I think of now is not
a future move right now. As much as I want
him to be a Laker forever, he shouldn't be thinking
about me, right.
Speaker 2 (01:27:39):
But the sound of the podcast that just I think
we have that in the system of him saying basically
when he was asked about like losing, and he was like,
it's not just me and Luca, there's eight other guys
out there that audio yeah, yeah, yeah, so well that's
that's basically what he said. And I was just like, Lebron,
(01:28:01):
you crown yourself the king. You literally think you are
the goat, and then you get bumped out of the
playoffs and you decide to say, there's eight other guys.
Just take it, Just take it. Be the leader, Just
say I did not do enough?
Speaker 3 (01:28:19):
Yes, yes, how is it?
Speaker 2 (01:28:22):
So even if you don't mean it, even if you
don't mean it, Lebron, just say that to throw everybody
with you under the bus of losing. No, no, no,
it is on you. And also with what Shay said,
Shay saying, Luca can't think of me when it comes
to the future, right, But you said, it's not just
me and Luca. Oh so now you're together. That was
(01:28:44):
his quote. It's not just me and Luca, there's another
eight guys. Oh so now you're a team, because you definitely,
like Shay said, made it seem like you're not a team.
He has to make his own decision. Which one is it?
Speaker 5 (01:28:55):
Ron.
Speaker 2 (01:28:55):
I'm so tired of it.
Speaker 4 (01:28:56):
Lebron's a walking contradiction, a walking contract number one. I've
muted all lebron uh comments and articles.
Speaker 10 (01:29:05):
On my on my on my phone, my Twitter, after
he said, after he put out and then put out
an announcement saying that he would not be attending the
Met Gala because of his knee.
Speaker 3 (01:29:17):
Injury, I was done.
Speaker 4 (01:29:19):
So that was that was.
Speaker 3 (01:29:20):
I mean, I've seen so much.
Speaker 4 (01:29:21):
I've been through this for a long time with him,
like it seems like a personal battle. But when he
put out that announcement, for all you guys that were
expecting to see me at the Met Gala, I will
not be attending to night's festivities because of my knee injury.
Speaker 2 (01:29:36):
I don't care nobody cares.
Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
I want to know if you're coming back to the
Lakers and what are you guys doing to win a game?
Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
Exactly? Are you taking a pay cut?
Speaker 3 (01:29:44):
That's what I want.
Speaker 4 (01:29:45):
We want to know real things, right, not that so
just he's gonna say whatever he wants and that's part
of who he is.
Speaker 3 (01:29:51):
But it's a walking contradiction.
Speaker 2 (01:29:53):
But to still, it's like, I guess, I'm just shocked
that at this year he's still doing this, And I Hm,
it really would have been nice for him to just
own up and been like, yeah, it was on me,
you know, why not let me, let me take my
crown off. It was on me. We do have this sound,
let's let's listen exactly to what he said. And this
was talking to Steve Nash.
Speaker 5 (01:30:14):
Ultimately, you know, teams win championships and I understand that.
And it's never just about me and Luca. It was
never just about you know, Anthony Edwards and Julius Rando.
You know, it was always Minnesota versus the Lakers, and
I understand that, and I and I am at a
point in my career now where I you know, I
don't lose sleep over that, Like, how did me and
(01:30:34):
Luca lu like, well, yeah, well there's there's eight other
guys on.
Speaker 4 (01:30:38):
The floor, and it's true, but we don't need to
hear you say that.
Speaker 3 (01:30:44):
We know that, we know that already.
Speaker 2 (01:30:46):
Absolutely we know it's a team, We absolutely do. But
you think Nicola Yoga is gonna say that.
Speaker 3 (01:30:50):
Nope.
Speaker 2 (01:30:51):
You know what he said last night or two nights ago.
He's like, I was the worst guy on the on
the floor and we still want and that's what matters.
I was the worst. Has Lebron ever says something like that,
I don't think I don't think so. I know it's
been a long, a long career, but I truly don't
feel like he has ever just taken the blame completely.
(01:31:11):
And it's like, I, even if you don't believe that,
even if you don't think that this this is your team, Lebron,
this is in a way still your league, Lebron, and
just pretend for a second, pretend that it is all
your fault, because that would people people would that would
be a breath.
Speaker 3 (01:31:30):
Of fresh air, be more endearing.
Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
Yes, coming from you, it would be a breath of
fresh air.
Speaker 3 (01:31:34):
Yeah, we've heard enough of you saying you're the goat.
Speaker 2 (01:31:36):
Yes, crowning yourself.
Speaker 4 (01:31:37):
Yeah, take blame when when blames do take the loss.
Speaker 2 (01:31:41):
To say I was not enough, Maybe maybe I gotta
do whatever, believe it is, just whatever it was. I
really hated to hear that.
Speaker 4 (01:31:50):
You know why this is the thing now, Why there's
too many podcasts and too many mics in your face? Right,
and so this this is, this is the thing though,
MONSI love. This is why players like that on a
Lebron's level status or whatever. It's always going to seem
like a contradiction because everything is recorded, and everything is
(01:32:10):
kept a record of and so we have the proof
of you saying what you're saying. So people going on
these podcasts or these shows and like shows like Hours
or whatever, and they're spewing things out, that's a record.
Speaker 3 (01:32:23):
We have you on record saying That's.
Speaker 4 (01:32:24):
So if you go to the next thing the next
day and say the opposite thing, like who are you like?
Speaker 3 (01:32:29):
What are you really doing here? How that's hard?
Speaker 2 (01:32:32):
How we discussed in the first hour again, go back
listen to the podcast. We'll post it. Don't worry, but
talking about Draymon and what he said about himself and
how he's perceived and it's like, we have record of
you doing this a lot, Lebron. We have record of
you always patting yourself on the back when things go
well and then deflecting blame when it doesn't go well.
(01:32:54):
We recently when he was like, oh, I'm not gonna
say anything because my boy ad made a comment and
now he was traded, what like, what are you saying?
Stop throwing your teammates under the bus like that, because
you can't have it both ways, and he always has
it both ways, always till till today. We have said,
(01:33:15):
I don't know if lucas coming back to la. We
both said that, right, We've talked about that and nobody knows.
But hearing that, like, if I feel like Luca would
be the one he would take all the blame, Luca
would be like, this was my fault.
Speaker 3 (01:33:27):
No, he does.
Speaker 2 (01:33:27):
We've seen him say that. We have seen him say
I did not do enough. And so if I'm Luca
and I hear Lebron say that, I would be like, Bro,
that's this is not the type. This is not the
Batman and Robin relationship that other teams have that Jason
Tatum and Jalen Brown have.
Speaker 4 (01:33:44):
And if you see that from your other co star.
It makes it acceptable for you to do it. It's
a bad example.
Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
It's a bad example.
Speaker 4 (01:33:52):
He's an older guy. Obviously everybody looks up to him
in a certain way. Obviously he deserves it too. He
deserves it as well. But they follow you lead, You
lead by example, and if you're not taking the blame
and deflecting the criticism, it just allows somebody like a
Luca to start picking a bill on those habits. So
I hope he doesn't, but yeah, that's part of it,
you know.
Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
I don't think so, Luca. It's one of those kind
of like what you mentioned about Jason Tatum saying that
I'm not gonna pretend to be someone I'm not. I
feel like Luca is who he is because he's been
playing professional basketball. I don't know since he was seven
years old. I'm making that up, but it's pretty young,
and you know what I mean, he's been playing professionally.
So I don't think that. I do think Luca realizes
the power that he has and how the effect that
(01:34:35):
he has, and what his words mean and the effect
of his words, and it's just like shocking to me.
That's still twenty two, twenty whatever years later, Lebron does
not understand like we have heard everything you've said over
the last couple of years. We've watched you, right, and
for you to deflect like that when you and Luca,
(01:34:57):
everyone picked you to win. Everyone picked you win. I
picked you to win.
Speaker 4 (01:35:02):
Yeah, he still is, even at his advanced age now,
and as much as he's seen in his career, in
his life as a basketball player, he still wants to
be loved.
Speaker 2 (01:35:14):
He still just wants to be loved.
Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
And that's all it boils down to.
Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
And he talking about like what rubs off on people, Carrie,
look at where we're getting here, talking about what rubs
off on people. He just wants to be loved and liked.
And look at this new generation of NBA players that
are supposed to take over. They're also like that too.
None of them, None of them have this. Jalen Brunson
(01:35:38):
might have it. Jalen Brunson might want to step on
your throat. Yeah, But aside from that, we Jason Tatum,
you know, he doesn't come off like that. All of
these shake Gil just Alexander after losing, I know they
won today in Game four, smiling after Game three, like
Anthony Edwards having fun at the press conferences when they
he was told how many threes they missed, and his
(01:35:58):
face dropped like it was so funny, and they started
laughing him and Julius Randall started laughing. Kobe was up
to zero and was not having it.
Speaker 3 (01:36:06):
Didn't crack a smile, didn't crack a smile. Wayne done nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:36:09):
Yet, nothing, nothing but Lebron rubs off on people. And
he's rubbing off on the younger generation of like, we're
just happy to play play basketball and make a lot
of money. And for us watching the product, it's like, no, no, no,
we want you to be competitive and we I don't
want you to be friends with this guy. You could
be friends off the court, just don't show it to me.
Speaker 3 (01:36:29):
That's and that's why we enjoy the playoffs, right, and.
Speaker 2 (01:36:31):
That's why we enjoy the playoffs. That's probably why we
enjoy the NFL so much, because the NFL still is, Oh,
they want y'all want to kill each other.
Speaker 4 (01:36:39):
You have no choice. It legit like, you have no choice.
If you don't play that way, you will be hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:36:46):
You will be right. You have to play a certain
way and you.
Speaker 2 (01:36:48):
Have to rely on your teammates, because again, you can
get hurt really badly in that sport. So maybe that's
what it's. But it's that's the reason why we love
the NFL so much. But there is something that I
don't love about the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:37:01):
What is it?
Speaker 2 (01:37:01):
We're gonna get into that. On the other side, don't
go anywhere. This is Fox Sports Radio. Those Hey, I
want you.
Speaker 3 (01:37:13):
Hey, No, I won't.
Speaker 2 (01:37:15):
You met I love me some pit Bull. Oh I
know you know girl, there's a lot of people when
that have told me. But Pipple's only good with other people.
Like he doesn't have any songs by himself. I'm like,
I don't care. He's got bears. I love put good Piple.
You going to Fast and Furious soundtrack one, two and
(01:37:36):
three Let's go.
Speaker 3 (01:37:38):
People went on a generational run.
Speaker 2 (01:37:40):
For really did mister three five? Mister worldwide?
Speaker 8 (01:37:44):
I was I was gonna am I up? Okay, Sorry,
I can barely share with my I can barely hear
with the music my own voice.
Speaker 3 (01:37:53):
No, you get you gotta you gotta have some power.
Speaker 8 (01:37:55):
If you're going from one area code to every area
code in the world, yeah, wide, from one code to
all of them, and.
Speaker 2 (01:38:05):
You put on you put on bull, people are moving,
of course, like right away, people people all of a
sudden can dance if you put on pit Bull, which
is amazing. Fox Sports Radio is what you're listening to.
This is not a pit bull station, but it can be.
I am Manci Lajos alongside former All Pro safety Carrie Roads. Carrie.
(01:38:25):
NFL season is far away, but the schedule is going
to be coming out soon. I think next week, right, Shay.
The that next week is we're gonna get the end
of it.
Speaker 3 (01:38:34):
We'll get the schedule on Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (01:38:36):
On Wednesday is the day, all right, Wednesday is the day.
The day. And let me tell you something that there's
a rumor and I I'm so mad about it, Carrie.
If it's true, I'm so mad about it. We know
that the Chargers are going to play in Brazil, we
know that. And the rumor is that the Chargers are
going to play in Brazil against the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (01:38:56):
Yes, I saw that.
Speaker 2 (01:38:57):
I'm sorry, squeeze, squeez, You're gonna have a divisional game
against the Chiefs in Brazil. I'm already losing a home
game as a season ticket holder for the Chargers, already
losing one. I got you, and now you're telling me
that Brazil gets to watch the Chargers and the Chiefs. Now,
(01:39:20):
this is not official, but it seems to be ru Yeah, Carrie,
I am so upset about this. Like, I get the
International Games are going to continue to happen because money.
I understand all that, And I understand the NFL that
people are into it and it sells and it's popular.
I get all that, But why why would the NFL
(01:39:43):
do this? Me and a Charger fans and I think
NFL fans in the in the US like be in La. Right,
It's like I feel like the Chargers and the Chiefs
people would go watch that game in LA without being
a fan of either of those teams.
Speaker 3 (01:39:56):
Well, I'm going to tell you why, Monty.
Speaker 2 (01:39:58):
Before better or not be a logical excuse.
Speaker 3 (01:40:02):
It is a little bit, but I'm gonna tell you this.
I'm gonna let you.
Speaker 4 (01:40:04):
I'm gonna give you a little bit more space to
vent out and get your frustration out. But the Chargers
don't have a loyal fan base here in LA, so
when you go to their stadium, it is always predominantly
the other team that's in that building. So for them,
the thought of having that home game in Brazil doesn't
(01:40:28):
affect them as much as you like the person that
wants to see it possibly for them, You just so,
who cares?
Speaker 13 (01:40:35):
If I'm the only Chargers fan at that game against
the Chiefs and everybody else is wearing red, that stadium
would have had everyone there for that game in La
It doesn't. Why couldn't Why couldn't it be the Chargers
against I don't know the Giants in Brazil.
Speaker 4 (01:40:50):
The Brazil, Brazil, Brazil probably project They probably projected it too.
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
He doesn't know any better. They don't get They should
not get to choose this. I this.
Speaker 4 (01:41:00):
If you're trying to market your game to a world
wide place, you want a great game there. You don't
want I know, I know that's not the case always,
but in theory, you want to.
Speaker 3 (01:41:09):
You want to showcase.
Speaker 2 (01:41:10):
Okay, there's so many fine, Listen, I know, I said
the Giants. You could have done the Buccaneers and the
Chargers and that would have been a fun, competitive game
in Brazil, and I still would have been sad because
I love me some Baker Mayfield. I love me some
Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. We were just talking about
this off air That would have also made me sad.
(01:41:31):
But now you're taking away the Super Bowl champion Chiefs
and Taylor Swift oh away.
Speaker 3 (01:41:38):
From la Oh my goodness? That What is about?
Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
What's that? But listen, that was another one that I
threw at you. I hate I hate this so much.
Like I feel like this is such a slap in
the face.
Speaker 3 (01:41:50):
I can see that. I don't think that, but I can.
Speaker 2 (01:41:53):
See this because you're a former player.
Speaker 4 (01:41:55):
And I for the game.
Speaker 2 (01:41:58):
You're being logical when I this is the fandom, and
I feel like if other fandoms went through this where
it's like you're a divisional a great divisional matchup. You
want me to travel to Brazil to watch this?
Speaker 9 (01:42:12):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:42:12):
No, I get it, I understand. I understand it sucks,
but it's part of Yeah, it's part of making the
game a little bit more global obviously, and you want
to put a great, a great game out there so
they can actually be invested.
Speaker 2 (01:42:24):
Okay, Yeah, how do you think the Eagles and Commanders
would feel if we send them over to play in Brazil?
Speaker 4 (01:42:30):
Didn't they play in Where did they play last year?
Did they play in London? Did they play in London?
I think the Eagles and the Commanders. I think that's
the exact game.
Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
Who played, No was in Brazil the Eagles and the Packers.
Speaker 3 (01:42:44):
Still two great games. Who would be saying the same thing.
Speaker 2 (01:42:46):
You're but that's that's not a divisional division. I was
going by division Sorry, yeah, Brazil and the Packers. Brazil
Eagles and Packers. Wasn't that in Brazil? I think you're right,
that's what it was because we Jordan Love got her
early on in the season. I'm talking about a divisional.
Speaker 3 (01:43:02):
Like it just okay, that makes a little bit more sense.
Speaker 2 (01:43:06):
Yes see, I'm so mad about this and it's not
even official, and I'm already mad about it. You know,
when official, I'm gonna get more mad about.
Speaker 3 (01:43:16):
It, and I'm gonna let.
Speaker 2 (01:43:17):
You and they're gonna all of the reasons all say money,
and I it upsets me.
Speaker 3 (01:43:26):
Money and exposure with money, but the exposure.
Speaker 2 (01:43:28):
The thing is like it's already gonna be that the
Jaguars go to London every year. The Jacks have not
been exciting, and yet everybody goes to London to watch
those games, or people in London show up to watch
those games.
Speaker 3 (01:43:38):
Yeah, I think it's just people in London with jerseys.
Speaker 2 (01:43:40):
All jerseys on they but that's the whole point. It's
like they don't even know what a good matchup is.
They're just still gonna go because it's the NFL and
it's gaining traction all around. So it's just like the NFL.
I feel like this super sucks, and it sucks not
just for Chargers fans, even though yes, you're right sometimes
Sofi Stadium is more of the opposing team. But with
(01:44:00):
the Chiefs, I bet you that would have been a
lot of Chargers fans there. I bet you there would
have been. That's that's one of those games Chargers fans
actually go to because I know, yes, I sell, we
sell our tickets. You're right, we do. I work a lot.
I also work a lot, so it's not that had
a lot to be there. But it's hard to get
to Sofi Stadium.
Speaker 4 (01:44:17):
Have you been to so far once and not and
not for an NFL game, for a little league game
and it was still tough.
Speaker 2 (01:44:24):
It's so hard to get out there from where we're living.
It's such a pain in the butt, right Shay, all right?
Speaker 3 (01:44:32):
I hate it.
Speaker 2 (01:44:33):
I hate it. Like somebody will be like, oh, you
want to go watch Beyonce. Where is she at? So
if I I don't, I don't want to.
Speaker 12 (01:44:39):
I won't even go close to the to the stadium
if anything's happened.
Speaker 2 (01:44:43):
Anything's happening.
Speaker 12 (01:44:44):
It's not even like I'm not even going to a game.
I'm just trying to get dinner out there. My friends
live out there, and I'm like, oh, you know what,
I got something to do something.
Speaker 2 (01:44:52):
I have a stomach ache. Same thing with Clipper games
being in the same area. Like I only went to
a few this year for the new into It Dome
Stadia Arena because I didn't want to drive out there
and it takes forever to get It's one time I
went to I went to the Bills Chargers game. Maybe
not last year, but like two years ago. I was like,
I could have gone to Vegas and back. By the
(01:45:14):
time this the whole ordeal getting in and out. I
could not get in and I could not get out.
Speaker 3 (01:45:20):
Man, Chargers, that don't fun at all.
Speaker 2 (01:45:23):
Yeah, let's go over to Chris Purfat. Chris, am I
wrong for the way I feel that the Chargers playing
the Chiefs in Brazil is a slap in the face.
Speaker 3 (01:45:33):
So I will I will disagree in that.
Speaker 8 (01:45:35):
I think I think people internationally know enough about football
that they know what they're watching. On the flip side,
because of how contested division games, to say nothing of
conference games, division games, how hotly contested those are, and
how important.
Speaker 2 (01:45:48):
Those are, we're going to make it for Brazil, and that's.
Speaker 8 (01:45:51):
What I mean, Like that, you're taking away a home
division game that's where the rubber really the playoffs, like
there is a line to be crossed. Those should be
interconference games AFC versus NFC if you're going to send
them abroad, because like look what happened last year with
the Packers and the Eagles. You know, Packers like almost
suffered a you know, pretty pretty significant injury to why
(01:46:13):
my blanking Jordan Love right, And but that's a conference game,
that's an NFC conference game that's going to impact you
for the playoffs down the line there, and you're doing
that on the road where you're not at full full
strength either. So it's just it's it's it's not great.
It's not great. We're getting ready for tip off here
for for the Cavaliers and Pacers coming up at eight
(01:46:37):
pm Eastern Game four. Cavaliers with the series lead and
puck drop for uh to the Toronto Maple Leaves and
the Florida Panthers. I did not realize. So I know
there's like advertiser patches on hockey jerseys. I did not
know the Panthers have lacrosse on their on their patch
sophisticated earlier. Let's get some earlier stuff. The Oklahoma City
(01:47:00):
thunder of defeated defense Denver Nuggets ninety two eighty seven
to tie the series two game apiece. Shay Gilds Alexander
twenty five points that matchup. The Dallas Stars over the
Winnipeg Jets three goals in the third period to break
a deadlock. They take a two to one series lead.
In the Stanley Cup playoffs, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts
had home runs as the Dodgers defeat the Diamondbacks eight
(01:47:21):
to one. After a seven and thirty three start to
the season and a twenty one to zero loss on Saturday,
the Colorado Rockies have fired their manager of eight years,
Bud Black. The Rockies did pick up their seventh win
on Sunday, defeating the Padres nine to three before he
was fired. And I would be remiss without mentioning what
happened earlier, as we had what was probably our last
(01:47:43):
l Classico of the year, Barcelona and Real Madrid killing
him Boppe spotting Madrid two goals, but Barcelona coming back
with firepower four to three the final score. You really
hate this when you have a rivalry. But Barcelona and
Real Madrid have met four times this season in an
all contests they've played each other, and Barcelona has destroyed
(01:48:03):
Real Madrid of four wins an aggregate score of sixteen
to seven. Wow, so much trail Classico being a back
and forth anyway, Moncey and Carrie back to you.
Speaker 2 (01:48:16):
Thanks Chris, don't go too far because you're gonna be
a lifeline for easy as one, three, four, Yes, and
since we always run out of time, let's get into it.
Oh yes, I don't know how hard this is, so
I'm gonna give you let's say six and a half
is the se No, sometimes I give you.
Speaker 3 (01:48:37):
Seven and a half eight, alright, so I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:48:39):
All right, we're gonna easy. We're gonna start real easy. Everybody,
all right, we got I'm gonna propose some questions to
Carrie and he doesn't have to give me the whole answer,
just a piece of it. And he's got lifelines here Shay,
Chris and Mary. But we're gonna start really easy, guys, Remember,
don't think too hard. Name one of two teams in
(01:48:59):
baseball with the worst record.
Speaker 3 (01:49:01):
Right now, the White Sox carries. We just talked. I know,
I know, I know, I messing with the Rockies.
Speaker 2 (01:49:15):
The Rockies. Show me the Rockies. That is correct.
Speaker 3 (01:49:21):
He would have been right with the White the hard one.
He would.
Speaker 2 (01:49:26):
I like that you said that because you were right.
That's the second worst record. White Socks are twelve and
twenty nine. Do we know what the third? Just for
funzies here everything, let me think you guys know it.
Think about what's happened this week.
Speaker 8 (01:49:40):
Oh yeah, wow, yeah, now I know that's yeah, White
Sox Rockies can't just fire a manager.
Speaker 2 (01:49:45):
Yeah they just fired their manager, the Pirate. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Those are the worst three records right now.
Speaker 9 (01:49:53):
I'm on it.
Speaker 2 (01:49:53):
Yeah, good job, all right, all right, here we go.
Name two of the three teams that have scored the
most points in a half during the NBA playoffs. The
most points scored in a half. Yeah, during the NBA playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:50:12):
I got the first one that would be okay, see.
Speaker 2 (01:50:14):
Okay, then.
Speaker 4 (01:50:17):
I would probably say the second would be the Calves.
Speaker 3 (01:50:20):
But let me let me think about the one.
Speaker 2 (01:50:23):
Yeah, yeah, no, we listen. We're good on time right now.
Speaker 3 (01:50:27):
I know.
Speaker 4 (01:50:27):
Okay, see, I would have to I would say Calves,
but let me let me look around and check the
temperature of the room.
Speaker 2 (01:50:33):
No one's knowing, nobody's paying attention. No, I think that
they don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:50:37):
I don't think they know. I'm gonna trust myself on this,
I know. Okay. See you said two, right.
Speaker 2 (01:50:42):
Yeah, two of the three. Shay's looking.
Speaker 3 (01:50:48):
I'm gonna go.
Speaker 2 (01:50:48):
I'm gonna get you want to go Calves? Okay, yeah,
all right, I like that, all right, show me okay,
c Yeah, they just did it on Wednesday against the Nuggets,
eighty seven in the half. Show me the Calves. Nice?
I done?
Speaker 3 (01:51:04):
Okay, Carrie.
Speaker 12 (01:51:06):
I didn't want to do too because me and you
were together when we were looking this up.
Speaker 9 (01:51:09):
Remember, I didn't want to let you.
Speaker 2 (01:51:11):
Want to give too much into it. Calves eighty six
against the Warriors in Game four of the twenty seventeen Finals,
and then the third one because I got to give
some love to my Clippers Clippers eighty five against the
Warriors in Game two of the first round in twenty nineteen,
and it was a second half thirty one point comeback
for the Clippers.
Speaker 3 (01:51:30):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:51:31):
So those are the three, Carrie, You're three for three
right now, let's.
Speaker 3 (01:51:36):
Go with no help, with no help.
Speaker 2 (01:51:38):
I love that we're gonna finish this. On the other side,
don't go anywhere. It's Fox Sports Radio. Yes, all the
moms out there are very appreciated for all that they do.
Being a mom, being a dad, being a parent is
such a selfless thing that I can't. I don't. I
(01:52:01):
don't think I'm gonna ever be a mom because it
is a very selfless thing that you have to do,
and your world becomes someone It's all of a sudden,
your world is about someone else.
Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
It's one of the most important things that you can.
Speaker 2 (01:52:14):
Absolutely, yeah, as sure right, it's amazing. My mom is
the goat Mommy. Happy Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to
your mother. Yes, and to all the moms out there, Uh,
we just love you. The world goes round because of mom.
Speaker 4 (01:52:30):
We wouldn't be here without a mom literally literally.
Speaker 2 (01:52:34):
But even all the dads out there that are moms
you know, like much appreciate all the work you guys
do because it is not easy to be a parent.
But trust we love you and we appreciate you. It's
Fox Sports Sunday. I am Manci, He's Carrie. Let's finish
this up. Carrie. See if you can maybe get even
a perfect score. I gave you a six and a
half over under trying to get to seven. That means
(01:52:56):
you win. Right now, you're a perfect three of three.
All right, let's go name three of the four NBA
players that made the most threes during the regular season,
not their average at the end of the regular season.
Who tallied the most threes? Give me three of the
four this season or all time this season, this season
(01:53:17):
in particular most threes.
Speaker 3 (01:53:19):
Well, let's not be hard on myself. I'm going Steph
Curry them.
Speaker 2 (01:53:24):
Okay, got it.
Speaker 4 (01:53:28):
I would think somebody from Boston would be on that
list because they shoot a lot of them.
Speaker 2 (01:53:33):
You said made, yes, made most made threes, correct.
Speaker 4 (01:53:39):
Steph Curry will go go.
Speaker 2 (01:53:42):
Derek White, Okay, Derek Wyant.
Speaker 3 (01:53:44):
Derek White. This dude here is always come in waving
his arms like, yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:53:53):
He came, Martin White. Sorry, don't tell me.
Speaker 3 (01:53:59):
I'm not gonna be a part of that.
Speaker 2 (01:54:00):
He gave you the answers.
Speaker 3 (01:54:01):
Yeah, this is this is some. This is some Steve
Hartman interference.
Speaker 2 (01:54:11):
Chris, do you have any any suggestions? You've got? You
have two and I need three of four? You need
one more, one more guests? Can I guess?
Speaker 9 (01:54:20):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:54:21):
Go ahead, yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 4 (01:54:22):
Mary See, I'm mad because I just want to say
what Marion just told.
Speaker 9 (01:54:28):
Me to say.
Speaker 7 (01:54:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:54:29):
No, since since I'm the only one not tainted by
what just happened in the patrol room, I'm gonna say,
Anthony Edwards has got to.
Speaker 9 (01:54:37):
Be up there.
Speaker 1 (01:54:37):
He is.
Speaker 9 (01:54:38):
He is.
Speaker 3 (01:54:38):
That's a good one, that Anthony Edwards. Okay, yes, he is,
he is for sure. I know that.
Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
All right, So let's start. Those are your three? All right?
Show me Steph Curry.
Speaker 4 (01:54:49):
Oh sorry, messed up.
Speaker 3 (01:54:51):
I was like, step gotta be on the list.
Speaker 2 (01:54:53):
Show me Steph Curry. That is correct. He is third
for the season. He made three hundred and eleven. Show me,
Derek White, that's all four and at number four two
hundred and sixty five, Show me Anthony Edwards coming in
at number one, three hundred and twenty. The second player,
(01:55:19):
Malik Beasley, Yes, not gonna make s. Beasley was in
at number three hundred and nineteen.
Speaker 4 (01:55:24):
The man walked in like, I was completely wrong, Derek White.
Speaker 3 (01:55:28):
Now he thought it was top three, three out of.
Speaker 2 (01:55:32):
Four out of four.
Speaker 11 (01:55:33):
He literally came in to said Malik Beasley, Anthony Android,
All that's.
Speaker 2 (01:55:37):
So funny, that's so funny. All right, you're perfect right now,
let's go. Let's go. You've got seven out of seven. Okay,
let's see if you can get a or you're six
or whatever, it doesn't matter. You're perfect right now. Last
one here, Okay. So the Chiefs have had the most
primetime game since twenty twenty, with twenty six they have
the most. Give me four. Of the other five teams
(01:55:58):
that have had the most prime time games since twenty twenty,
not the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (01:56:03):
Oh, okay, we got Ravens is one prime time? Prime
time primetime.
Speaker 2 (01:56:10):
Is Oh, Thursday night, Sunday night, Monday night.
Speaker 3 (01:56:13):
Okay, Ravens.
Speaker 2 (01:56:16):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:56:18):
I want to say Lions maybe since twenty twenty, we
said twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:56:26):
No, No, okay, let's let's see. Uh we go we go.
Speaker 4 (01:56:30):
Packers okay, pack okay, Ravens, Packers, Cowboys Cowboys. Okay, yeah,
I would say.
Speaker 2 (01:56:40):
One more, one more, one of the five.
Speaker 3 (01:56:43):
Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:56:44):
Uh Eagles of Bills, one of them.
Speaker 3 (01:56:51):
But I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:56:55):
Anybody want to try it.
Speaker 8 (01:56:56):
I'm going to tell you it's not the Lions just
because they like until they had that turnaround in twenty two.
Yeah they were even in twenty two they had no
games on prem right, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:57:05):
Noet that you took Lions off.
Speaker 4 (01:57:07):
Yeah, I took them off't have But yeah, I mean Ravens, Packers, Cowboys,
And let's just say.
Speaker 3 (01:57:12):
I would if I'm gonna venture anything, and I'm scratching,
I gotta go.
Speaker 8 (01:57:16):
I know, I gotta think I Bills is a good
guess either that? Al right, I gotta say maybe Eagles.
Speaker 3 (01:57:23):
Yeah, I say both it okay, so I'm gonna go Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:57:28):
I'll go Eagles, Cowboys, all right?
Speaker 2 (01:57:31):
Show me the Packers coming in right after the Chiefs
with twenty five. Show me the Cowboys coming in right
after the Packers with twenty four. Is it the Ravens.
Speaker 3 (01:57:45):
Really?
Speaker 2 (01:57:45):
No, not since twenty twenty they're not even on my list,
So I actually don't have that. Show me no, is
it the Eagles? So no Eagles you were right with
the bills. I was twenty two niners, twenty four chargers,
twenty two since twenty twenty, so this was in the
last couple of years. But you still got over six
(01:58:05):
and a half. So you won it.
Speaker 4 (01:58:07):
You did it.
Speaker 2 (01:58:08):
Yay Carrie. Guys, thank you so much, Mary, Shay, Chris Burfet.
