Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
What's up everybody? First day of June.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
We are inching closer to the NBA Finals already. Here
I'm at Cie Belanyas alongside former All Pro safety Carry Roads,
hanging out with you from Fox Sports Radio here in
LA and once again, Carrie, so much to talk about.
I'm gonna try to squeeze it all in these three
hours with.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
You, because so much happened this week.
Speaker 3 (00:25):
But we're gonna start right away in the NBA with
last night's elimination game from Madison Square Garden Knicks, or
excuse me, not from Madison Square Garden, from Fieldhouse right
in Indiana, as the.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Knicks took on the Pacers in Game six.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
What I want to know this were your thoughts going
into the game different.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
Than the thoughts you had after the game was over?
Speaker 4 (00:48):
No change?
Speaker 5 (00:49):
I mean, remember, right I called this. I said the
Pacers would win this series. I didn't know, I mean,
I mean, who knows, six, seven, whatever, But I picked
them to win. They had a disappointed, disappointing Game five,
so I knew they'd come out and played better than
they did in Game five. You know, Tyreez Haliburton came out,
and he got into the game a little bit different
(01:10):
than Game five. He kind of eased into it in
game five. Game six, he was different, a little bit
more assertive. He was getting other guys involved. Obviously, Pascal
was amazing, and he was the one that kind of
bridged the gap the whole series.
Speaker 6 (01:22):
But this team, I told you, they're deep. They got
a lot of people that can score.
Speaker 5 (01:27):
They can score from all levels, and they play hard
and relentless. And so watching in game six the Pace,
I text my buddy during the game, I was like, dude,
I'm tired watching. Yes, And so you could see the
Knicks just wearing down, and that was the biggest thing
for me.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
It looked like the Knicks were worn down when the
game started. And I really thought the Knicks would push
a Game seven, not that they were gonna win Game seven.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
I did not think that.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
I thought the Pacers would win, But I did think
the Knicks had the moment menum kind of maybe figured
out what they needed to do in order to compete
against the Pace.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
That played more Pacers.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Correct and just how much it was going to take
of them. Now, could they do it, that's a different question.
Maybe they did figure it out and they just couldn't
do it anyway. But that entire game, they looked tired,
in my opinion, from the minute it started to the end,
and it was like the Pacers just never let up,
and they never did during the entire run of their playoffs.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
I mean, let's be real, but it was a little bit.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
I was a little shocked to see the lack of
hustle and intensity that the Knicks came out with in
this game.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
But I think it's just they were tired, like it
had nothing to do that.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
They didn't want to come out like that. I'm sure
they wanted to, but they can only do so much.
And we've talked about the Pacers or the playoffs being
a game of adjustments, and the Pacers have done adjustments
like here and there, but they know what their.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Game plan is. It's been the same game plan.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Over and over, so the adjustments are very minimal. It's
just like, Okay, maybe you guard him this time, let's
do this switch instead, not major changes like Tom Thibadau
and the Knicks had to do, which dive was to
dive into their bench.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
Had you done that earlier, maybe you would have found success.
A little earlier and what.
Speaker 6 (03:20):
And what did I say last week, Monty? I said,
Landry shammit?
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Can shammit?
Speaker 4 (03:24):
He came in played well in this series.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
Delon right, Mitchell Robinson obse obviously heart who they switched
something brought to the bench as well. Then I mean,
you can go Deuce McBride. All those guys can play.
So the fact that they were playing such a short
leash with those guys, it just didn't make any sense.
And I know he's stubborn. I know coaches are, but
the stubborn ones don't last. You have to make adjustments,
(03:48):
you have to be flexible. And you can tell with
Rick Carlisle right, Brian, So, Thomas Bryant was the first
big man coming off the bench for them at the
beginning of the series.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
He had struggles with Mitchell Robinson. What does he do?
Speaker 5 (04:00):
He goes to Bradley, he switches, He takes away Thomas
Bryant's minutes. Then has enough confidence to know in this
particular game six, Brian could be a better matchup in
this particular moment. In this game he comes in and
hits three threes and like, that's not crazy, nuts, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
But you hit it right on the head.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
It's just that Carlile has been playing with all of
these players throughout the whole regular season into the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Like he's he's not testing anything new.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
He knows what he has and he's just making slight adjustments.
With Tom Tibadau in the Knicks, it felt like they
were trying to figure it out as they went.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yes, like completely new ways to win.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
And that's where you could tell how much really the
Pacers depth and how just well run.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
They are as a team.
Speaker 3 (04:49):
The camaraderie from Rick Carlile all the way to their
last player on the bench. They're all on the exact
same page and you can see. Yes, one of the
biggest pages that they're all conc in distant lyon is
their defense. I was so many times where I just
was like, you can't. You can't have a fast break
point off of the Pacers. It's really hard to do
(05:10):
that because they are so in sync with that. It's
almost like like a song. You're all you want to
be all on the same melody, you want to be
on the same tune. You want to you know, you
know exactly what I'm talking about. Yes, Yes, because if
one person is off key. It ruins the entire It
doesn't matter if you did three minutes of a great song,
that one moment that you were off key. I'll never
(05:31):
forget it. No, and it might ruin the entire three minutes.
It will, and it will, he says, it will will. Yeah,
And that's.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Where the Knicks. I felt like they were off.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Key on their defense throughout the postseason, throughout this series
so many different times, including in this game last night.
There were moments where the Nicks scored quickly and then
the Pacers were already on the other side.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
Oh, yes, they would score quickly and it didn't matter.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
The Pacers scored faster then you getting back and I
was like, or on a on a long rebound, how
are you not getting back there? Where is the miscommunication here, Carrie?
Speaker 5 (06:09):
Yeah, well, obviously there's there has been some leaks already
coming out. Sure you've seen yes, yeah, yeah, I'll knocked out.
There's some uh some some car Anthony town stuff that's
come out about him not being a great communicator on
defense and not being in the right positions. And obviously
the fact that these things come out so quickly, you know,
(06:30):
there is some validity to it so like we don't
know to what extent and always they're going to be.
They're gonna be scapegoats in a playoff series, doesn't matter
how great you play. People are talking about Jalen Bronson
didn't show up in game six and it's spectacular his
play as his playoff run has been somebody's got to
be the fall guy. Yes, And it seems like right now,
which has been part of Kat's whole journey in the
(06:54):
NBA in general and all the stops he's been is
he's been a liability, liability, liability on d right. And
so if you can't communicate and be in the right positions,
I mean, forget effort. If you can't do that stuff first,
then you're putting your team at a disadvantage. So it
sound sounds like it's coming from there, stemming from there.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
In case you missed it, this this did come out
hours after this game was over on a story on
the Athletic and basically in it, they say that the
coaches expressed frustration with Karl Anthony Town's defensive habits and
that he constantly executed incorrect decisions but did not coverages
but did not tell them why. So it kind of
(07:35):
just broke everyone apart again.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
And that's because looking.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
At Jalen Brunson, it was like, yeah, man, you struggled
like you You did not come out offensively the way
we've seen you do innother games.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
But you're tired. You could see how ghast you guys are.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
But when the defense breaks down, it's like that off
key in a song. It stands out and it makes
you kind of cringe a little bit. You missing shots,
You're like, just keep shooting. You're gonna get there.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
That's what you keep your players. You'll get in a rhythm.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
When you cannot play defense on the same key, on
the same no, on the same page, it stands out,
and it stands out more than an offensive player struggling
in a big.
Speaker 5 (08:12):
Game, one hundred percent. And you can see it just
from you know, from individual to individual. Right, So everybody
else is switching. But with Karl Anton, the towns there,
they're running a drop coverage, right, so he doesn't have
to switch on Halliburton or whoever tries to get the switch.
So if that's happening, right, if it's if he is
the drop guy, that means he has to communicate, He
(08:34):
has to say what he's going to do. And if
he's going to play drop with the shooter, obviously you
got to come out a little bit higher to defend
the shot because if they're running drop coverage with you
in particular, in mind, they're running that play over and
over to get you in the drop because they know
you are so like, you have to make an adjustment.
And obviously he wasn't, and he was maybe he wasn't
(08:56):
willing to switch it, and so it's you can watch
the game is very simple when you can understand what
they're doing and.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
When you know defense wins games.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
It's it's almost like when I read the story, it
did feel like they were just kind of like it
almost comes off like he doesn't take defense as serious
as offense. And it's like, Carl, my guy, the offense
is at his highest across all the teams.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Everybody's good.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Six man's off the bench could be starters, you know,
like everybody.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Is really good in the NBA.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
There's just now superstars megastars, but everybody is really good
and anybody can get hot at any given time. How
you stop that is with your defense, Like you can't
let that unscrew itself. When you get tired the offense.
Everybody gets tired. You get you know the expression when
when your jump shot is short, it's like your legs
(09:50):
are tired, like it's not there but your defense. And
it almost seems like the way I read it is
that he just didn't take it as seriously as he
his offensive game.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
Well he should have because his offensive game sucked that
game as well, So he really didn't give them anything,
is what we're talking about at the moment. And that's
part of it too. I mean, I mean, he was
obviously kind of hampered during this series too. We kept,
you know, favoring his knee a little bit. Who knows
how much that was a factor. But I mean, I
hate the immediate blame game here because obviously there's more
(10:23):
more to go around than to him, you know, but
you could see him he was really struggling in Game
six and.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
The immediate blame game win.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Now that it's all been said and done and we're
done with the series, you can see that the Pacers
are the better teams, Like overall, Yeah, maybe you have
flashier players in New York next with Jaylen Brunson, sure,
but the better team was the Indiana Pacers, and they
won because of what they've been doing. We've said this
last week, well they've been doing for the last two
and a half years. This didn't just happen overnight. They've
(10:53):
been working towards this and every single one of them
knows their rule, believes in their role, and is willing
to put the other player's success before before themselves. And
I don't know how many teams actually do that, aside
from them and the Thunder.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
The two teams that are in the finals.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
Yes, and we are gonna talk about the Thunder in
Game one, which will be on Thursday, but we are
not there yet, so you're gonna have to stick around.
In fact, I'm gonna ask our NBA insider next, Mark Stein,
if this whole thing with Karl Anthony Townsend his defense
has been something.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
That he's heard and that if that's why the Timberwolves
decided to move on from him.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
I'm curious to know, Carrie, and I'm sure you are,
so don't go anywhere. We're gonna talk to our NBA insider,
Mark Stein. And next, you are listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
It is going down on this Sunday. What's up everybody?
Nicely done?
Speaker 4 (11:57):
There?
Speaker 3 (11:57):
I am Monty belaanyos alongside form are all safety carry
roads hanging out with you on this June first?
Speaker 4 (12:04):
June June June.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
Is I don't I don't even I don't want to
talk about any I can't believe it's already June.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
I am that person.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
I can't anyway, I'm.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Deflecting anyway, diving here into the NBA playoffs. As we
saw last night that the New York Knicks getting eliminated
by the Indiana Pacers.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
What does that mean? Our NBA insider Mark Snine here
with us to just dissect it all. Mark, how is
it going? Did you hear it's June first?
Speaker 8 (12:33):
I did hear that? True?
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Where has this year gone? Is my first question?
Speaker 1 (12:38):
No?
Speaker 2 (12:38):
No, no, let's dive into this Knicks and the Pacers.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
I'm sure you saw the story that came out hours
after about Carl Anthony Towns and how maybe the Knicks
were frustrated with his defensive habits that he maybe does
not communicate well and how it would break down. My
first question to you, Mark, had you heard this before?
Is this there's a reason why the Timberwolves moved on
(13:02):
from him? Just any more insight into that story that
broke late after they were eliminated.
Speaker 9 (13:08):
I honestly think it was hard for the Timberwolves to
move on from him because last year was the best
year that Minnesota had had in twenty years. And to
make that trade when they did right on the eve
of training camp, the weekend before training camp, when you
(13:28):
think about it, it really kind of set the tone
for what a circus of a season this was in
terms of trades, because no one was really expecting that.
I mean, the Knicks have long been mentioned as a
team with Karl Anthony Town's interest, so the fact that
he ended up with the Knicks wasn't a huge surprise,
but the timing was a massive surprise. And look, Minnesota,
(13:50):
what they really did it for it was twofold. I mean,
they thought that Randall could be more of a playmaker
for them, which they badly needed given that their best
point guard is Mike Conley, who's approaching twenty years in
the league. So they wanted Randall's playmaking. But they also
wanted the financial flexibility that came with a player who's
(14:13):
making half what Towns makes. Because the Wolves want to
keep Nazrid, they want to keep Nikaiel Alexander Walker. So
there were a lot of you know, there were on
court and off court factors that led to the trade.
From the Minnesota side, I think Karl Anthony Towns was
exactly what the Knicks were expecting. When he has to
(14:34):
be the five man, there are going to be defensive issues,
but if you play a traditional center next to him,
it potentially limits the damage he can do at.
Speaker 8 (14:44):
The offensive end.
Speaker 9 (14:46):
And it's his offense that New York really wanted. So
I think the issues that New York had defensively, they
knew they were going to encounter that. You know, Brunson
and Towns, neither one of them is ever going to
to be regarded as some sort of defensive stopper, right,
and so that's just stuff that the Knicks.
Speaker 8 (15:06):
Have to deal with.
Speaker 9 (15:08):
Let's see what happens going forward. I mean, it is
still a pretty successful season, and we're just gonna have
to see how drastic the changes they make actually are.
Speaker 8 (15:20):
It's hard to get a read.
Speaker 9 (15:21):
On that now, but this was only year one, and
again it was thrown together right before training camp.
Speaker 8 (15:28):
For both teams.
Speaker 9 (15:29):
Both the losing conference finals teams had to deal with
this massive change. I mean, I'd be curious to hear
what you know, what carry would thing playing on a
team that you know traded you made that kind of
trade just before. And look, an NFL camp is much longer,
and the NBA camp is a week and these teams
start playing games. So it's just it's just a different
(15:52):
world and we're going to have to see We're gonna
have to see how drastic the moves the Knicks make
are knicks make?
Speaker 8 (16:00):
And response now.
Speaker 5 (16:01):
Well, to answer you really quickly, Mark, before I go
to my question, it's extremely hard even for football. And
eight we got Brett Favv come in during training camp
and we had a team that was ready we thought
to contend and started out slow, ended up picking it
up as the season went on. We were at nine
and three and ended up losing the last four games
and not making the playoffs. So hard, it's hard.
Speaker 6 (16:22):
And so to answer your question, yes.
Speaker 9 (16:28):
Just a shock to the system for this to happen
when it does.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
It was crazy. Yeah, it was so much, but I
want to go back. I want to stay with the
Knicks for a minute. And there was a comment I
think a couple of years ago, about or maybe a
year and a half ago, from Becky Hammond, who was
on the record, saying that you know, the Knicks would
not win with Jalen Brunson being their starting point guard
or being their best player. She said, right now, he's
their best player. Do you think there is a world
(16:55):
where he can get them over the top with the
addition of Karl Anthony Towns or what do you see
me at it to help a guy like Brunson get
over the top.
Speaker 9 (17:04):
I'm such a Brunson fan that, like, I'm not laying any.
Speaker 8 (17:09):
Of this at his doorsteps.
Speaker 9 (17:11):
I mean, he's he's so far exceeded what was expected
of him.
Speaker 8 (17:17):
I mean, you guys know, I live in Dallas.
Speaker 9 (17:19):
I was here covering the Mavericks when on the same
day twenty eighteen, they drafted both Luka Dantic and Jalen Brunson.
Jalen Brunson was the thirty third pick. Nobody saw any
of this coming, and he's already exceeded expectations to such
a degree that. I'm not gonna say that he can't
do a B or C because the other thing about
(17:40):
Jalen Brunson is he's found a way to get better
every year. But the reality is, if you have Brunson
in Towns in your starting five and in your closing five,
there are going to be defensive liabilities that can be
exploited and you have to have the rest of the
team built around them to.
Speaker 8 (18:01):
Deal with that.
Speaker 6 (18:02):
Market.
Speaker 5 (18:03):
Isn't that like og and Bridges, it's those two should
be those guys.
Speaker 9 (18:07):
Right, And I think that's I think that's a you know,
a good starting point. And og An Andobi had a
really strong season.
Speaker 8 (18:17):
You know, Bridges season was much more up and down.
Speaker 9 (18:20):
But again, that's kind of it's hard to know this
quickly after it ends.
Speaker 8 (18:26):
Right, do the Knicks feel like they are a tweak
or two away or do they want to do something
more drastic? And I mean, look, they did give up
so much to get Bridges.
Speaker 9 (18:38):
I mean, that's that really cleaned them out in terms
of trade assets. I mean, I'm not saying they can't
make another major move in the near future if something arises, but.
Speaker 8 (18:54):
It's hard to just it's hard.
Speaker 9 (18:55):
To pinpoint it this quickly after a disappointing loss in it.
This is a major disappointment. I mean, the East was
there for the taking. No Celtics, Philly never got there, Milwaukee,
you know, didn't have Dame, couldn't get out of the
first round, Miami traded Jimmy Butler away mid season. This
East was there for the taking and they have to
(19:18):
live with not being able to get it done.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
How much blame, per se of the blame pie would
you put on Tom Thibodeau, Because it just seemed like
the coach made changes but that were too late. He
didn't dive into his bench early enough to get them going.
So I don't think he's on a chopping blank as
a coach. But how much blame would you put on Thibodeaux?
Speaker 9 (19:42):
I mean, look, people have been whispering about this and
wondering about this, but you know, I think it's unfair.
Speaker 8 (19:52):
I mean, I think he's done a really good.
Speaker 9 (19:55):
Job there and you know what, we've done nothing so
far but talk about the probably need to bring the
Pacers into the conversation like they they you know, it's
hard to believe they were sub five hundred when the
calendar flipped in January. First, in mid December, they were
nine and fourteen. I mean they since the calendar flipped,
(20:19):
they've been one of the five best teams in the league.
And look, I you know, I'm going to talk about
this because I got my Western Conference picked so wrong.
Speaker 8 (20:27):
I mean I did pick the Pacers in six.
Speaker 9 (20:29):
I thought they had I thought Brunson was going to
be the best player in the series, and I thought
that the Pacers had the more well rounded team. And
I think I think that's what we saw and you saw.
I mean, Siakam was a huge difference maker, and the
defenders that the Pacers have did make bruntson work extra hard.
(20:50):
So I do think the Pacers are a big part
of this.
Speaker 6 (20:54):
Mark and I picked them to win as well.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
And one of the main reasons I did, obviously the
depth and also everybody buying in. But the main factor
for me in this series, and I know you would
agree with me on this and spending a lot of
time covering the Dallas Mavericks was Rick Carlisle. Let's talk
about him and what he's brought to that team as well.
Speaker 9 (21:15):
Yeah, it's it's really interesting because you know, he's always
been known as someone who want wants control of his team.
And you know in Dallas the year they want it all,
you know, he seated a lot of the offense to
Jason Kidd and that was seen as a big factor
in the Mavericks success.
Speaker 8 (21:36):
You know, that was almost fifteen years ago.
Speaker 9 (21:39):
I mean, you know he has the way he has
transformed himself. This is a team that plays at a
relentless pace. He gives his guys a lot of freedom.
You saw early on first play of the game they
ran a play to perfection and guys on the bench
(21:59):
are like going over to congratulate the coach for the
first play call of the game, like so that. I mean,
they they really have a good thing going there. And
you know, I jokingly I saw him early in the
season and they came to Dallas and put on quite
(22:19):
an offensive show, and I was I saw him after
and I said, when did you turn.
Speaker 8 (22:23):
Into Doug mo?
Speaker 9 (22:24):
Like what what's gotten into you? Like with this free
wheeling offense. But I mean the pacer it's I mean,
this really is going to be like the Vibes Finals.
I mean, you heard Miles Turner at the podium last
night just talking about like friendship is being a factor.
And like with both the Pacers and the thunder like
you actually believe it when you watch the way these teams,
(22:47):
how they get along, and just like the vibes that
that are you know, that are visible, which is is
not something we've seen every day in the NBA. So,
I mean it's the Pacers been a great story.
Speaker 8 (23:00):
I mean they to me, they.
Speaker 9 (23:01):
Are They have been the most underrated team in the
league for months and so amazing validation for them to
get all the way to the finals for the first
time in twenty five years. And the problem now is
they've got a sixty eight when Bulldozer waiting for him.
Speaker 8 (23:16):
I mean, that's that's the issue.
Speaker 10 (23:17):
Mark.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
I'm so happy you use the word vibe today. I'm
I'm feeling so good right now. This is amazing. I
love it.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
The vibes are high. Yes, you are listening to Fox
Sports Radio. I'm Anti Bilanya's alongside former All.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
Pro safety Carry Roads and we're talking to our NBA insider,
Mark Sneine. Mark, did you agree with Pascal siakam bean
the conference MVP?
Speaker 8 (23:39):
I mean it was a coin flip. I mean, you know,
I've been in that position.
Speaker 9 (23:44):
Where you know I'm on the voting panel, and people
don't like the way it turnout. It turns out, so
I'm not gonna I'm not going.
Speaker 8 (23:51):
To criticize my colleagues.
Speaker 9 (23:52):
It's your you know, when you get that ballot, it's
your vote.
Speaker 8 (23:56):
You pick who you believe in, and you know, five
fours as close as it gets.
Speaker 9 (24:02):
Really, I have to say that I was a little
bit surprised when it happened. But then when you really
look at the game to game production that the Pacers
got out of Fiakum, you could go either way, and
you know, does it It doesn't really matter, Like I mean,
the Pacers have not won an NBA championship. They won
three in the NBA. I really think nobody there really cares.
(24:26):
They want to win it all.
Speaker 8 (24:27):
That's what matters.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
Yeah, Well, Game one NBA Finals Thursday, Thunder versus the Pacers,
a very high offensive team and a very high defensive team.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Do you want to give us an early prediction of
what's going to happen?
Speaker 8 (24:43):
I'm not making my pixels. No, I mean look, I mean, look,
you know.
Speaker 9 (24:51):
The Thunder have been so impressive and when you just
look at the hit, when you look at at all
the metrics from the Thunders. They should win. They should
win it all the history when you look at just
their point differential. I mean, they were the most dominant
regular season team we've ever seen. And the defense, you
(25:13):
know they have. They have four wins by thirty in
the playoffs. No team in history has ever done that.
I mean, they've just shown us over and over and
over again that they are the team of the season.
It's up to them now to finish the job. But
I also have to say that, you know, I I'm
(25:33):
a grudge holder in life.
Speaker 8 (25:35):
I have trouble letting grudges go.
Speaker 9 (25:37):
I love the way I love the way Halliburton has
used this overrated thing.
Speaker 8 (25:42):
It just fuels him.
Speaker 9 (25:44):
And this team has convinced itself. I mean, they really
have convinced themselves that everybody is against them. And you know,
can they do it four more times against a historically
great team.
Speaker 8 (25:56):
You know we're going to find out.
Speaker 9 (25:57):
Yeah, I just hope people watch it, Like I just
I'm already dreading the These are such small markets. No
one's gonna watch. Like, if you like basketball, why wouldn't
you watch.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
I think it's gonna be a great series. But yes,
on paper. It seems like the thunder should should have
their way. We'll see what the pacers.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
To be interesting.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
It is gonna be interesting. Mark.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
Thank you so much for joining us. Glad that you
were back in the country last week.
Speaker 4 (26:25):
We lost you phone.
Speaker 8 (26:27):
My phone works, so that's good news.
Speaker 2 (26:29):
Yes, no, thank you so much. We will talk to
you soon.
Speaker 10 (26:32):
Mark.
Speaker 8 (26:33):
All right, take care, guys, talk to you can call.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
You can call, not call.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
You can follow Mark Stein on ex Twitter at the
Stein line.
Speaker 6 (26:42):
Or if you're lucky, stick around. I may slade you
as numbers may be able to do.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
If you paid its engine, we'll drop these drags with
a number and then you get it.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
We're just kidding, Mark. We're not giving your number out. Carrie,
real quick. Did you agree with the MVP last night?
Speaker 4 (26:57):
It's kind of what Mark said, It wasn't tass up.
Speaker 5 (27:00):
I think Pascal for the most part, was the best
player in that series, though, I mean in its entirety. Obviously,
Halliburton had moments where I think his moments stick out.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
His moments stick out.
Speaker 5 (27:14):
So you will remember those a little bit more. Where
Pascal is just consistent, right, He.
Speaker 2 (27:19):
Was consistent the whole game.
Speaker 3 (27:20):
He also kept them in that game, in that first
half by himself, but the moments were so high for
Halliburton and.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Then Lo at the same time.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
You know, so, I I think I would have voted
Tyre's Halliburn if I'm being completely honest.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
But yes, once you look.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
At it, you understood why why it went to Pascal Siakam.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
I understand why Martin Weiss is here. He's here to
give us the latest on what's going on.
Speaker 11 (27:47):
Martin and I definitely would have been the MVP. I
wouldn't have taken two steps forward if I was.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
You see that thought it was gonna be it. I
mean I would have voted for I thought so too.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
I mean it was a one margin, it was.
Speaker 11 (28:01):
But it just goes to show you you can't count
your chickens before they're hatching.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
No, not at all, agreed, Agreed.
Speaker 11 (28:07):
Tyres Heliverton chickenless, top of the seventh inning, the Twins
and the Mariners scoreless. Top of the sixth inning, Arizona.
What they won, I'm sorry, three to one lead over
Washington and going to the bottom of the second inning,
Padres with a one to nothing lead over the Pirates.
Earlier today we saw the Rangers bop the Cardinals eight
to one, Red Sox over the Braves three to one,
(28:30):
Orioles beat the White Sox three to two. Brewers with
a five to two win over the Phillies. Brewers winners
are seventh straight. The Blue Jays double up the A's
eight to four. Same thing with the Guardians and the
Angels four to two. The Mets beat the Rockies five
to three. One Soto had a home run, so did
Lindor Pete. Alonzo had a three run homer.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
And the Rockies have lost fifty games.
Speaker 11 (28:53):
They haven't even played sixty yet they know it's nine
fifty nine.
Speaker 4 (28:59):
Yes, that's bad.
Speaker 11 (29:02):
Think about something you've done sixty times that you failed
doing fifty of.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
Them, and to keep going and to keep trying.
Speaker 2 (29:09):
Fans, there are fans in the stands.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
Like they got dollar drinks and dollar hot dogs.
Speaker 2 (29:14):
Well listen, then I would be there too.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
Do you want to go to Colorado? Yeah?
Speaker 10 (29:18):
Right?
Speaker 11 (29:19):
The only thing you have to be passed, like maybe
just when the some the opposing team is.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
Up the bat, you got to look out. You might
get hit by a home runer. I actually have a
friend in Denver and that is exactly the case. Apparently
the concessions that.
Speaker 6 (29:30):
Are people there love that exactly.
Speaker 11 (29:33):
The most important, the most expensive thing is probably the parking,
all right. The real baseball teams, the Giants, the forty
two win over the Mayor, the Marlins, the Tigers edge
the Royals one to nothing, Astros over Raised one to nothing.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
In the Cubs beat the Reds seven to three. In
the French.
Speaker 11 (29:50):
Open, two seat Carlos Alkariz defeated American thirteen seats Ben
Shelton in six sets. American and twelve seed Tommy Paul
and Alchoriz will face each other in the quarter finals.
And you don't have any basketball or hockey until like
go for.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
A long long time from now. So I back to
you guys.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Thank you Maria, and you are listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (30:12):
Yes, the picking Pascal siakam is the MVP of the
Eastern Conference Championship was not a mistake. But Carrie, there
was a major mistake in college baseball this past Friday
between Oregon and Utah Valley.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
If you are listening and you have not seen this play.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
Look it up because it is the worst call that
I have ever seen in my entire life.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Carrie, do you agree or does I send it to you?
Speaker 6 (30:40):
You sent it to me, and I was like, this
is awful, This is awful.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
This is awful.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
So the Ducks, Oregon Ducks had a player on first
and third and a guy I think it was a
sackfly so deep in the outfields, and the runner on
first is running all the way to home. They're down
at this point two runs or they're trying to cut
the deficit. They run, and then the guy first base
is running towards home. The catcher is completely no questions asked,
(31:06):
blocking the runner's path and blocking home plate. He gets
the ball thrown to him and misses it, touches off
the glove of the catcher, and then the Oregon runner
keeps running but like kind of braces himself and kind
of like.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
Yeah, runs into him, runs into him, touches the base.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
They call it originally as a run to cut the
deficit to one at that point, that's right.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
And then they stop the game. They talked for how
long seven minutes?
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Seven minutes and they come out and say, oh, no,
malicious intent by the runner.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
I don't know why I became British in I don't know.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Why, because it was a stupid call, well malicious, that
malicious intent by the runner. He gets ejected from the
game and then cannot play in the next game.
Speaker 10 (31:52):
Yeah, that was bad.
Speaker 4 (31:53):
It was awful.
Speaker 6 (31:54):
I didn't see it.
Speaker 5 (31:55):
I knew you were up in arms about it, so
when you sent it to him, I actually sat there
and watched the whole thing, and I got up in
arms about it. I was like, first and foremost, if
you get the call wrong, you get the call wrong, cool,
that's fine, But you throw the kid out and then
he can't.
Speaker 6 (32:09):
Play the next game.
Speaker 5 (32:09):
You can play the NeXT's Do you know how crazy
this is for these kids in this moment, this, this
is maybe their last chance to do this.
Speaker 6 (32:16):
And I don't know this.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
This ISNA baseball.
Speaker 5 (32:18):
Champion, yes, And I don't know if that kid's going
to make it to the pros. And I don't know
what his story is, but for his story to end
that way on something where he's trying to hustle and
get his team around and score and make this game,
you know, very interesting down the stretch.
Speaker 6 (32:32):
It was sucky to see.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
It wasn't It was bad, And I know, like we
watch bad calls be made all the time, like this
is not a bad call. This is where I sit
there and wonder, I'm sorry, umpire, do you have money
on this game?
Speaker 4 (32:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (32:46):
How do you not think that? After?
Speaker 3 (32:47):
And it took you that long to come up with
that conclusion. Guys again, if you're listening, go watch this play.
None of you are gonna tweet at me and tell
us that we are wrong in these feelings. Our producer,
Shay I sent him the video. Shaye, what did you
think that?
Speaker 4 (33:00):
I thought it was garbage?
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Garbage?
Speaker 4 (33:02):
It was.
Speaker 10 (33:03):
It was.
Speaker 12 (33:04):
They literally bring up like a little thing in the
bottom left of the TV that says, oh, yeah, like
if if they get in from the base path and
they don't have the ball, it's it's not at all
an inn like, it's an interference. So I'm like, oh,
this is an interference, easy, Yeah, it's later two seconds
later they go.
Speaker 2 (33:21):
Nah on garbage.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
No, not two seconds? Seven minutes, yeah, yeah, seven minutes.
I should have been more. I don't know what they
were looking at, Like what are you looking at?
Speaker 2 (33:31):
The guy is completely blocking.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
It took me two seconds to see that.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
To see absolutely, and then he doesn't have the ball.
He does not have the ball. So and everybody's like
the guy could have slid earlier, he could have avoided.
He even seems like he wants to brace himself for
impact and seems like he slows down.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
He's not lunging, there's no shoulder first.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
He's literally straight up with his arms kind of in
front of his chest crossed because he's bracing for impact
because he sees the guy who's just blocking the base.
Speaker 2 (33:59):
All Right, you guys, I can't upset me so much.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
If I would have been if I would have been
at that game, I would have.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Been arrested because can you get this lady out of here?
Speaker 3 (34:11):
She's still complaining about the call. Yes, hey, that's how
upset I was. You know, I'm also I'm also upset
because it's the end of an era.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
What's kind of don't go anywhere. We're gonna get into that.
This is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
It just feels so good.
Speaker 10 (34:35):
Me too.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
I love Paramore. What's up? Everybody happy?
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Sunday June First, I am Monty Belanos alongside former All
Pro safety Carry Roads.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
I have to mention who who tweeted at us, because
they are completely right.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
We were just talking about that terrible call that happened
on Friday.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
At the n C doua, a baseball.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
Championship between Oregon and Utah Valley, where the runner was
deemed malicious for running into the catcher. They ejected him.
He didn't get to play for Oregon. Oregon loses the game.
They take away the run, and then Adam tweeted at
me and said, and he is right. I'm listening to.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
You all over all the way over in New Hampshire
on the radio.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
The worst call ever was Jim Joyce taking away that
perfect game. He'd Gallagara and so what.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
Sorry, sorry, galaraga. It's been a while, guys. When was
that twenty twenty ten?
Speaker 3 (35:26):
That was a while ago. He's right, that was that
was the worst call. I apologize.
Speaker 4 (35:31):
Two Tigers fans on this radio station here, thank you,
thank you. We're both in sense still.
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Yeah, so this, this gentleman is correct. That is probably
the worst call. But this one was very close second
when it came to this Oregon game in college baseball,
the end of an era, Carrie kind of kind of
NBA on tn T coming down to the end.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
It's over.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
Well, at least D and T coverage of it is.
The guys are sticking together as we all know they're
gonna go onto ESPN and continue to work together, but
I'm going to assume that it's not gonna be the same.
Speaker 5 (36:10):
It's not going to be the same. If it's Disney ABC,
you can't say certain words. I'm sure some of the
explicit things that they would say in their conversation will
be a little tamed. Yeah, So I just it won't
be the same. I just think that's part of the move.
But yeah, man, what a run, What a run, What
(36:33):
a run they had on TNT. I mean thirty six
years something like that. Thirty six years of like complete
debauchery and also fun and also important things and you know,
Emmys and.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
All the things.
Speaker 6 (36:48):
It was such a it was it was a great show.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
It was a great It was a really great show.
And I know they're going to continue.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
But I agree with you, Carrie, I do think things
are going to be different.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Obviously, it can't be exactly the same.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
In fact, we know, like part of the T and
T crew is Kevin Harlan, who I love, and I
think he's moving on.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
He's not following them.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
I think he's going to Amazon, and so really, yeah,
so it's it's not going to be the same.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
The guys are sticking together.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
And if you paid attention, if you have the volume
on during the game, during when they were saying their goodbyes,
Shaq and Kenny the Jetsmith.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
Both dropped an F bomb and did not care.
Speaker 6 (37:23):
They tried to get it out there.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
It was funny because.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Shock does it and then Kenny the Jutsment's like, like
he said F this. No he didn't say it like that,
but pretty much he's like, we're not effing around where
we're coming. We're not affing around. But you're right, it's
it's Disney. It is Disney. I don't know how shocked
and a fooler going to be able to.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Be when it comes, but I am. It is the
end of an era. It really is, and it's it's
kind of sad.
Speaker 6 (37:49):
It's sad. But also it's not just the guys that
are moving on, it's.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
The whole crew, the entire the entire crew.
Speaker 6 (37:56):
Is moving on.
Speaker 5 (37:56):
So they will have the foundation of that right, So
I'm sure they're trying to They're gonna massage it and
try to make it work and try to stay as
true to form as possible. But again, just the language
and some of the topics I'm sure will have to
be a little different.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Yes, I mean, Charles Barkley, are you gonna still talk
smack on the women in San Antonio?
Speaker 5 (38:15):
I was gonna ask you, no, wait, wait a minute.
The fact that you went there is amazing. That's why
we're here and that's why we were together. I was
gonna say, what is what are you going to miss most?
What was some of the best moments from the show
that you're going to miss?
Speaker 3 (38:27):
I think I mean that every time it's such a
good one. Yes, is are they still gonna race Kenny
to get to the screen first?
Speaker 6 (38:37):
Liability?
Speaker 4 (38:38):
Liability the hard time.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
It's okay, It's okay, don't worry about it. I think
that's funny too when they do that. I also love that,
like the little gimmicks, like when they're they're gone fishing
and they're all wearing.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Hats, like all of those those are all fun.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
But it's been thirty six years, like this didn't just
happen overnight.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
And like Ernie Johnson said in his who I Love Ernie?
Who doesn't? Who doesn't love Ernie Johnson?
Speaker 7 (39:03):
Right?
Speaker 3 (39:04):
And how he the whole crew like it is, it
is going to be a shift.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
It is going to be a change.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
But luckily we do get to see the guys stick together,
and I'm sure they're gonna they probably also.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
Want it to be slightly different. I would want it
to be slightly different.
Speaker 5 (39:20):
I mean, as long as they keep talking about the
big women and cheer roles in San Antonio, then I'm
good and keep.
Speaker 2 (39:25):
That kept classier about it.
Speaker 4 (39:28):
And they're going to have to exactly.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
They're gonna have to do that.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
So it's gonna suck, but hey, something to look forward to,
and I think.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
It does have to be It does have to be different.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
It can't be the exact same, but I hope we
see similar things as they continue on covering the NBA
absolutely well.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
From the NBA, we go to the NFL, So don't
go anywhere.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
I'm Mancy, He's carry what's up, everybody, Happy Sunday, Happy
June First, to everybody out there listening, I am on
Sievelanyas alongside former All Pro safety Carrie.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Rhoads hanging out with you.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
We've got our full crew here, Martin Weiss on the updates.
Shay is our producer, and now Chris Phffett has left
the ones and TWUESA.
Speaker 13 (40:12):
And we have Sam I away, Sam here, what's thank
you for hanging out with us. Please be here, Yes,
thank you and I we are gonna talk about the NFL,
but we've got to quickly mention what happened in this College.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
Uh Softball World Series game between UCLA and Tennessee. If
you weren't listening the first hour, you gotta listen, and
don't worry, you can tune into the podcast after. But
we were talking about that terrible call that was made
on the men's.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Side of college.
Speaker 3 (40:42):
Baseball on Friday for Oregon and Utah Valley. But right
now on the women's side Ucla Tennessee, clear as day.
You can go find it right now. It's all over
social media and x But ESPN has the clip. A
UCLA runner absolutely does not touch.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
Home play on a home run.
Speaker 3 (41:03):
She runs the bases, her team is there waiting for
her at home plate, and she does not touch homeplay.
Speaker 4 (41:11):
You know, blame Monty, who do you blame?
Speaker 2 (41:13):
I blame the team, the team for standing in the way.
Speaker 5 (41:15):
Get out the way, yes the plate first, and then celebrate.
Speaker 3 (41:20):
Yes they're so, they're hovering over the plate, but the
plate is open for her.
Speaker 4 (41:24):
To touch.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
She does not touch it, and so the quote here
is that the runner did misplate, it was assisted. However,
that play is not reviewable, so the run counting, and
that's why they made that decision.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
Why is it not review You.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
Know, you're asking me things that I don't know, because
Tennessee challenged the play, but ultimately it was upheld with
the run, and they just said that that play is
not technically reviewable, is what they're saying. So it's a
tie game, as you heard Martin, why say between Tennessee
and UCLA for four?
Speaker 2 (41:59):
But that she did not touch homeplate?
Speaker 10 (42:02):
You know what?
Speaker 5 (42:02):
I realized they make up these things as they like,
how was that one not reviewable? And everything else is revealable?
And he's usually every scoring play is reviewable, so why
is that one not reviewable? I think they really make
up things as they do they go, I really do.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
It makes no sense that a scoring plate.
Speaker 3 (42:21):
Martin Weiss might have the answer, Sam, can you throw
it on to.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Martin over there?
Speaker 6 (42:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (42:26):
So I listened to the umpire's explanation, which is hard
to do when I got a little time.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 11 (42:33):
So he says that it is like the play was
under review. However, whether or not the foot may contact
a home plate is one of the aspects that's not reviewable.
So like, for example, if you're if you're debating a
catch in the NFL, right, like, you can debate whether
or not the receiver I control of the ball. You
debate whether or not he had two feet on the ground,
(42:55):
but you don't debate who threw it, right, Like, you
know the quarterback threw the ball. Understand that that is
what like if the balls in near anyone can catch it, right,
So that part is like understood. I guess it's understood
that a home run you're gonna put your foot on
the base. And then also he made an allusion to
that it was not clear live that she did not
(43:17):
step on Like if they had seated live, they would
have called it live.
Speaker 4 (43:21):
But because they didn't see.
Speaker 11 (43:22):
It live and they saw it on review, it therefore
couldn't happen.
Speaker 5 (43:27):
Do you think they just didn't want to be the
team that didn't allow a home run to count in
the game go to extra And do you think.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
That's that's what tied the game?
Speaker 4 (43:35):
So Tennessee saying it would not have gone.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
To Yes, yeah, maybe I mean it's I.
Speaker 11 (43:45):
Put it as a fan, I was on the side
of the worst non call in sports history where Tommy
Lee Lewis was tackled by the kill Robey Coleman walking
into the end zone and then was then lost in
overtime to the team that eventually scored three points in
the Super Bowl like almost one of the highest flying
offices NFL history.
Speaker 4 (44:05):
So I'm a fan of making the right call. Yeah,
to make the right call home plate, i'mer.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
Did not let go the ball before. I'm with Martin
make the right call. I'm with him.
Speaker 3 (44:18):
Uh, yes, No, she did not touch the base though,
And I what did I say to you right before
we started the top of the hour, If I'm u
c l A, I'm fighting at saying like you couldn't
see my whole team was surrounding home plate.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
You couldn't see it with your eyes. I would have
argued it that way. But man, the one thing you're
taught the minute you start playing baseball and softball.
Speaker 4 (44:37):
Touch the base, that's that base.
Speaker 2 (44:39):
Do not skip the base. And she's she hit the
home run, but she she did not. She did not
hit the bag.
Speaker 5 (44:45):
Is that the equivalent of a guy not running all
the way through the end zone and dropping the ball.
Speaker 3 (44:49):
Oh goodness, yes, what are you taught? Don't let go
the ball, don't drop the ball until you get to
the the end, don't hit the bases.
Speaker 2 (45:02):
It's just stuff that you were taught when you were
a little little baby playing.
Speaker 3 (45:06):
Okay, you know, Dak Prescott has been playing football for
a minute, a couple of years now, wouldn't you say, I.
Speaker 5 (45:11):
Would say he dropped the ball a couple of times?
Speaker 2 (45:15):
Well, well, would you say he's still developing? Carrie?
Speaker 6 (45:19):
I hope not.
Speaker 2 (45:20):
I hope not.
Speaker 3 (45:21):
All right, Well, the Cowboys, you know, in a division
that has seen the most parody the last couple of years,
no repeat division winner, a new head coachy.
Speaker 2 (45:32):
But Brian Jaheim, thank you. I was like, we have
it ready, okay. Brian Scheinheimer had.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
Some things to say, specifically, let's hear what he said
about his quarterback.
Speaker 14 (45:43):
And I think Dak is in the developmental phase. And
that sounds crazy for you guys played that much. But
like there's things that we're tweaking with Dak.
Speaker 2 (45:49):
Sounds crazy, sounds crazy.
Speaker 3 (45:51):
He and then he goes on to say a little
bit more, not about Dak, but about the upcoming season
if we have it.
Speaker 14 (45:56):
Yeah, I want to be the greatest culture of professional sports.
And that's saying a lot. I get that, But it's
no different than sitting up here and talking about winning
Super Bowls. There's a standard. The standard is we want
to be the best, and will we be the best culture?
Speaker 6 (46:09):
I don't know.
Speaker 14 (46:10):
We're gonna try, and will we make mistakes along the way. Absolutely,
we'll make mistakes and then we'll fix things.
Speaker 3 (46:16):
All right, So much to unpack there, but let's start
with Dak Prescott, who again I think, entering nine ten
years in the NFL. I get what the coach is
trying to say. We're tweaking things. I understand that. And
he's the first time head coach, but he's been with
the Cowboys for a minute also, right.
Speaker 2 (46:35):
Like, it's not like he's brand new to this team
or this organization. I think he just chose the wrong words.
Speaker 6 (46:41):
I think is the wrong word. Yes, but go ahead,
go finis Manthia.
Speaker 3 (46:45):
He chose the wrong words. But at the same time,
there is something there to it.
Speaker 2 (46:51):
He's not lying, he's also he could have said it
a little differently.
Speaker 5 (46:56):
Yeah, I know Brian, I know him very well. An
for a long time. So let's start there. Great coach,
great guy to be around, a guy that will give
you the answers to the test and will be you know,
understanding of the of his players and get and give
them a soft landing pad to actually learn and grow
(47:20):
and do these certain things.
Speaker 4 (47:21):
Right.
Speaker 6 (47:22):
And so when he says that is still a developmental quarterback, wrong.
Speaker 4 (47:27):
Word choice choice, right, Yeah, but.
Speaker 5 (47:30):
Every player in the NFL should be continuing to develop.
And I think that's the point he's trying to make.
Every year, you're adding new tools to the toolbox to
be better. So if you think you've arrived as a player,
you're you're probably in the wrong profession because you're not
going to get any better and you will get toss
(47:50):
to the side. So I think what he's trying to
do for fans is give Dak a little grace here. Yep,
under a new regime, new team, he's still our, but
I'm going to give him a soft landing pad to
land on when things don't go well early on. I
think that's what we're looking at right now.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
I love that.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
So he's trying to protect his quarterback, Yes, he just
it just came out a little bit funky.
Speaker 6 (48:13):
It did that works?
Speaker 3 (48:15):
That word was yeah, and it sticks with you also
because it's Dak Prescott right, his contract, what he's done
the last couple of years, where it's like you have
not lived up to the expectation that does come with
your contract and playing with the Cowboys, like it's unfair,
but it's true. When you play for certain teams, you
got to do more than if you were to play
with other teams. I'm sorry, you know, and so he
(48:36):
has not delivered, but it did. It stuck in my
ear when I heard that, and I was like, that's
I don't think that's what he meant. Yeah, but like
I agree with you, a brand, we're gonna take a
new approach here.
Speaker 2 (48:47):
It hasn't been working.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
Let's try and tweak some things and get the best
out of it. Now, what he said about establishing the
best culture in sports, it's true. I mean, who doesn't
want that. That's what you should say, and that's what
you should want. But the Cowboys in their division again,
a division that has seen a lot of parody, I
don't what is a realistic expectation in your opinion for
(49:09):
the Cowboys because I know the Eagles lost what six
players on the defensive side.
Speaker 2 (49:14):
Of the ball.
Speaker 6 (49:14):
Okay, another one this week?
Speaker 2 (49:16):
Yes, yes, yes, price off, yes an Adam one.
Speaker 3 (49:19):
Yes, the Commanders you can only imagine they're going to
be better. You can only imagine that, right, So like
for me, the Cowboys still third in the division?
Speaker 2 (49:30):
Is that not a realistic expectation?
Speaker 6 (49:33):
Yeah, that's realistic. I can also see them being second.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
You can also see them being second, but realistically yes,
but realistically we have to see we do.
Speaker 5 (49:41):
The Commanders are obviously the hot pick for a lot
of teams, right, A lot of people to think they're
going to take that leap. It doesn't happen that way
all the time. So I'm a little I'm pumping the
brakes on them just a little bit until I see sure.
Speaker 2 (49:55):
Sure they expect one, yes.
Speaker 5 (49:58):
But they had a lot of games that could have
turned that season from a playoff season to not making
the playoffs really quickly. So, and that's a fine line,
very fine line. So I want to see but yes,
realistically I could see third.
Speaker 3 (50:12):
Yet third, right because the Eagles have been in this
situation where they went to a super Bowl and then
did nothing the next year. Yeah, And so I feel
like expecting them to repeat that might not that they're
gonna be as good, but they've been through that of
being at the high and then starting the next year
and being back at the low, going back to the high.
So I just I don't think the Eagles fall off
(50:33):
that much. And then the Commanders, Yeah, like it's hard
to imagine that they won't play the same, if not better, Right,
and in their second year they overachieved in their first year,
so you can only assume they're gonna get a smidge better.
But even if the Cowboys do get better, I still
realistically see three.
Speaker 5 (50:54):
And the crazy part about saying realistically being three, we
saw the NFC North get three teams in the play.
Speaker 4 (51:00):
Off, So what does that look like?
Speaker 5 (51:02):
We don't know what that ceiling is yet, and we
don't know where this thing can you know, can materialize.
Speaker 6 (51:08):
That the season goes on.
Speaker 5 (51:09):
Yeah, but I mean there's ano that's a scenario where
I can see them being second in that division and
making the playoff.
Speaker 4 (51:16):
Still, I like Brian, so we'll see.
Speaker 3 (51:18):
All Right, we don't have a lot of time, but
I have to ask you here real quick. Yeah, what's
up with NFL players and boats? And like not making
the best decisions.
Speaker 5 (51:27):
I think they watched Step Brothers. Did you You know
the thing about step Brothers.
Speaker 6 (51:31):
And the boats?
Speaker 8 (51:32):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (51:33):
Boats and girls and girl?
Speaker 5 (51:36):
But they use it a different a different term, right,
So you know, I think that's just I think they
are big fans of Stepbrothers, that's all.
Speaker 4 (51:44):
I don't think that's.
Speaker 2 (51:45):
That's too much. Listen, all right, Stephan Diggs.
Speaker 3 (51:47):
I'm sure you guys have all seen the video that's
circulating all of our social media on a boat with
his lady Cardi b is there, but a bunch of
other ladies are also there, and then this pink substance. Yeah,
I mean listen, our drug insider, Iowa Sam is actually here.
Speaker 2 (52:06):
Drug insider.
Speaker 4 (52:07):
Oh you didn't know that, that's true?
Speaker 15 (52:10):
Official f SR FAM what narcotics informants and insider?
Speaker 4 (52:15):
What was the pink substance?
Speaker 8 (52:16):
Then?
Speaker 6 (52:16):
What was that?
Speaker 15 (52:17):
So it's not it's like a cocktail of drugs. It's
M D M A, it's ketamine. There can be opioids
in there, Martin, our other distinguished f SR narcotics informant.
Speaker 11 (52:29):
So fast, because honestly, I just thought that there could
have been an underreported angle to this what if it
was a gender reveal.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
Ah, that's very man.
Speaker 4 (52:40):
Did you cocktails?
Speaker 2 (52:40):
Have you worked?
Speaker 4 (52:42):
I'm just saying, where else do you? Where else are
you using pink stuff like that?
Speaker 10 (52:46):
Like on on video?
Speaker 4 (52:49):
All the problem was you should have thrown it up
in the air. You got to throw it up.
Speaker 6 (52:53):
Yeah, you gotta make it official.
Speaker 4 (52:54):
Yeah, like Lebron checking into the game.
Speaker 2 (52:57):
So I think usually into a pr career, because that
was impressive.
Speaker 3 (53:00):
That that's where we turn this into a reveal on
the boat because we're on a boat. Okay, so we
love love we do here. I think I think Mike
Rabel has a big decision to make ahead of this.
Speaker 6 (53:17):
It's just not the Patriot way.
Speaker 2 (53:18):
It's just not the would Bill Belichick already have cut him?
Speaker 6 (53:22):
Yes, I'm not joking either. No, he would be done.
Speaker 3 (53:25):
Bill Belichick would have been done done. Well, you know what,
maybe we can ask our NFL insider Adam Kaplan what
he thinks the Patriots do moving forward. When it comes
to Stefan Diggs, don't go anywhere. I'm Mancey, He's Carrie,
and you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (53:41):
It is Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 3 (53:43):
I am Manci Belanya's alongside former All Pro safety Carry
Roads and you know you can stream the show and
all of our Fox Sports Radio shows live twenty four
to seven and the new and improved iHeart Radio app.
Just search Fox Sports Radio in the app to stream
us live. And one of the newest features in the
app is that you can select Fox Sports Radio as
your preset, just like presets on your radio dial.
Speaker 2 (54:03):
So be sure to preset Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (54:05):
Radio in the iHeartRadio app and it will always pop
up at the top of your screen.
Speaker 4 (54:09):
That's right, pre said it, pre said it.
Speaker 3 (54:11):
Yeah, uh, we're presetting Stefan Diggs here to start our
conversation with our NFL insider, Adam Kaplan.
Speaker 2 (54:20):
Adam, how's it going, cap.
Speaker 10 (54:21):
Man, guys, Good to talk to you.
Speaker 1 (54:23):
Yeah, there's always some sort of even this time of year,
you know, guys, sometimes you're away from the team having
fun but could be embarrassed himself. So yeah, I know,
I know what you're what you're alluding to. So that's
that story's an issue. The Stephan Diggs patriot situation will
get into that obviously. You know, it's ota season and
I kind of laugh when people are like, oh, everyone's
(54:45):
doing well, well, yeah, I mean they do it. You
can't touch anybody, you knows exactly.
Speaker 2 (54:49):
Everybody better look perfect out there.
Speaker 10 (54:51):
Yeah they should.
Speaker 1 (54:52):
Honestly, I've probably been over a thousand of them since
nineteen ninety nine. So yeah, and Carrie could tell you
it's a learning phase, So that that's what folks should know.
It's very coaches will tell you it's so important for
the learning phase for a player. But don't worry. The
real competition is in July and August.
Speaker 2 (55:08):
Have you been to ot S right now already?
Speaker 1 (55:10):
No, I'll probably go to Eagles, and I usually go
to Ravens or Giants. Yes, but yeah, I I you know,
my job is to talk to teams to kind of
find out where players are and how they're doing, and
and then then of course I make my training camp
tour out and that that's solely based on where I
have questions. So Cleveland, you know, with their quarterback situation,
I'll drive the air.
Speaker 10 (55:30):
You know that.
Speaker 1 (55:30):
That's because I like to switch it around. I want
to know and then when I want to see rookies
and find out what's going on there.
Speaker 10 (55:35):
So that's kind of how I do.
Speaker 5 (55:36):
Adam, I need you to get to that giant one
because you know I'm I'll be there. You know, I'm
a Jackson dark guy. I want you to. I want
you to.
Speaker 1 (55:43):
Yeah, okay, right right, Yeah, that's right for the draft. Yes,
that one's gonna be fun because it here's the thing,
since you brought that one up, right, So you've got
a coaching staff that knows that their jobs on the line,
that they know what's going on, right, ye, Well, then
you have a general man in right who Joe Shane,
you know, who has personnel control. Though John Mara, the
(56:05):
president of the team, gets heavily involved, but he he
has okay, and if whatever Joe wants. But the bottom
line is they've made a decision to tread order with
Russell Wilson. Eventually that bubble's going to burst. And then
from a coaching standpoint, because they're trying to win games
and they don't know what it will take to keep
their jobs, it's gonna be a push and pull there.
I'm interested to see what happens with Russell Wilson if
(56:27):
he could, if they could have a winning record by
like say, week ten, to stave off the change of quarterback.
Speaker 3 (56:33):
Adam Right before we started talking to you. We did
dive a little bit into that NFC East, you know
division with lots of parody, no repeat division winner.
Speaker 2 (56:42):
What aren't real it's been a while.
Speaker 3 (56:46):
What are realistic expectations for the Cowboys? Carrie and I
both said, still third in the nfcas yep.
Speaker 1 (56:53):
Well, the odds makers, you know for Sports Squad, one
of the companies that were for We just actually talked
about that last week in that every sports book has
the Cowboys in third, the Commanders in second, Eagles in first.
I haven't found I looked at like ten of them.
None of them have the Cowboys finishing second.
Speaker 10 (57:12):
It is what it is. Look, they're getting.
Speaker 1 (57:14):
Healthy Dak Prescott back, who tour's hamstring off the bone,
which you know it's unbelievably painful. So he's back. They
made the George Pickens trade. That had to happen. They
had to do something significate receiver. They did that. But
you know, if you're you know, I don't know exactly
how oddsmakers do this. Obviously, they look at the schedule,
they see who they're going to play.
Speaker 10 (57:34):
They have a new.
Speaker 1 (57:35):
Koche staff, Brad Shottenheimer and his staff, so they're bringing
new schemes in offensive defense. But they've got issues. They've
got a lot of them are on defense. Now running
back would be the concern there. They don't have a
bonifide starter. Jayden Blue, the kid from the University of Texas,
so I absolutely love who eventually could be a big factor,
very explosive. But the problem is they have is at cornerback.
(57:57):
The cornerback position is it is not good. Trayvon Diggs
is not expected to be ready week one. He's had
complications with the ACL injury and getting it right.
Speaker 10 (58:07):
He had a follow up.
Speaker 1 (58:08):
So they have problems at corner They're not great at
linebacker at all. That's a problem. They don't stop the
run real well, so they've got problems, folks. That's so
if you want to know why the Cowboys should not
be a playoff team, I honestly if Dak Prescott played.
Speaker 10 (58:22):
Fifty or sixteen games, and based on what.
Speaker 1 (58:24):
I know about Brian Schottenhammer, he's super aggressive throwing the football.
He's not like his dad. He wanted to run the ball,
not with the quarterback throw. That's not the way Shotty thinks.
The let Russ Cook came from Brian shott Humber by
the way, that was totally Brian Shott Hummer.
Speaker 10 (58:37):
Trust me on that one.
Speaker 5 (58:38):
That's so funny because Adam, you know, I've known Brian
since he was yeah, since he was so young, and
so to actually see him get this this, I you
know what I I think when he talks about culture
and and and really getting guys to play on a
different level and play on the level of like trusting
the guy that's running the show, he'll do that. He'll
(59:01):
get them to buy in. Now do they have enough
talent to make it happen? I don't know. We'll see,
but I want to talk about that. I want to
stay with him for one more second though, because I
dak Okay, there was this these comments where Brian came
out and said he's still a developmental quarterback.
Speaker 6 (59:16):
What do you think about those?
Speaker 1 (59:18):
Okay, let me explain. What he meant is that every
players you know is developing, right, and there's some things
that shot he's going to want to do with him.
Speaker 10 (59:26):
I can tell you when he was brought in.
Speaker 1 (59:29):
I actually I don't know the guy, but I talked
to him when he was with Seattle and he basically admitted,
he basically confirmed what I was told that he was
brought in to coach Russell Wilson hard like get on him,
get rid of the football quickly, stop moving around, just
execute the play like we want. Well, Dak Prescott's a
(59:49):
certain type of quarterback. He wants to get him to
the next level. He Dak at times just looked like
an MVP candidate. But you know, I know about the
injury history, which is significant. He wants to get him
back to where he was, and that's kind of I
understood what he thought. Now if you just didn't understand,
if you just read the quoesure, what is he?
Speaker 10 (01:00:06):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
Yeah, he's still developing. Well, yeah, you're always developing. That
got totally overblown. And to me it was a non story.
But we're in May.
Speaker 10 (01:00:13):
We weren't May.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
We're now in June.
Speaker 10 (01:00:14):
First.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
But actually the bigger problem, folks is, and I know
the first hand because I saw at the Suner Bowl.
If that gets hurt again, Joe Milton, I mean, he
could probably throw out of the stadium.
Speaker 10 (01:00:24):
I think we throw it one hundred yards, yes, But.
Speaker 1 (01:00:26):
Folks, a can hits the broadside of a bar and
his accuracy is terrible. I mean Neweland draft them last year.
They aready traded them. They didn't want him. This staff
was with them, Elliot Wolf, who's their active He's basically
the general Mandri is the personnel title. He drafted them
last year and I traded him after one year, So
that tells you a lot.
Speaker 10 (01:00:43):
He's the backup. Right now, you're.
Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
Listening to Fox Sports Radio on Moncey Belanya's alongside it
Carrie Rhoades and we're talking to our NFL insider Adam Kaplan.
Speaker 8 (01:00:52):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:00:52):
Before we move on from this division, the Eagles, who
you cover very closely, have lost a lot of defensive
players and now Bryce now head to the forty nine ers.
Speaker 2 (01:01:01):
How did you feel about that?
Speaker 8 (01:01:03):
So?
Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
I thought for Philly they did what they could. Unfortunately,
they're into him for over twenty six million for one season.
They you, we're talking about the base salary, signing bonus,
and the partial.
Speaker 10 (01:01:14):
Salary which they have to pay. So it's obviously it's
a bad mess.
Speaker 1 (01:01:17):
But with this trade once becomes official, Huffscotta pass uh
Niners physical, it's highly expected that he will. He had
risk surgery last season. In season he came back, but
he was a noun of fact, he was actually benched
for Jaylex Shun, who was a third round pick out
of a small school in Texas. So the bottom line
is it didn't work. It was never going to work.
(01:01:38):
He was playing. He played in a scheme that didn't
fit in the Vic Fangio scheme where the edgereacher stand up,
they got a drop in coverage. He was never comfortable. Ironically,
he made his money seventeen million a year as an
indgruct with his hand in the dirt. By the way,
they're running the same scheme with the Niners that he
that he played in with the Jets under Robert Sala
(01:01:58):
and there defensive line coach Chris qu Serakho is one
of the best of the National Footb League. So the Niners,
as I understand it, they didn't get enough edg rusher help.
Speaker 10 (01:02:07):
They did draft Mike.
Speaker 1 (01:02:08):
Col Williams in the first but they need more players,
so most likely Huff will be their third edge rusher.
He could start over Williams and to Williams is ready.
But this is a no brainer and obviously Solid knows
him because he coached them, so it's a no brainder
for both teams.
Speaker 10 (01:02:22):
I totally get it.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
In Eagles now they're the youngest defense of the National
Football League, which is kind of odd because they've always
been one of the oldest. But Fletcher Cox's retirement, Brandon
Graham's retirement, Darres Slaver was released, he signed with Pittsburgh.
So they're super young folks. If you look at their defense,
Zach Bond, who came out of nowhere last year, is
the oldest player on defense right now for them.
Speaker 4 (01:02:44):
Oh wow.
Speaker 10 (01:02:45):
All right.
Speaker 3 (01:02:45):
From one east to the other East, the AFC East,
the Dolphins. So many questions surrounding certain players. Now I
hear Tyreek Hill might be on the trading block.
Speaker 4 (01:02:56):
John U.
Speaker 3 (01:02:57):
Smith wants an extension, wants a different contract. He's traded
Jalen Ramsey. I mean, what is what are the Dolphins do?
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
There's a lot going on Monty so here, Yeah, exactly,
So let's start with the latter.
Speaker 10 (01:03:09):
This one's easy.
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
So they they made a decision in well, first of all,
the bad decision.
Speaker 10 (01:03:15):
And it's a really bad move.
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
They extended Ramsey's contract last year at the start of
the last season, they guaranteed.
Speaker 10 (01:03:22):
Over twenty nine million. That was a mistake.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
Now they want to trade him. They're done with him.
They They've told him and his agent they're going to
do this. He's not going to take a penny less.
But what has to happen Why there's a hold up.
The Rams really want to get him back, but they
have not agreed on how much they'll take of his
cash this season, which is over twenty five million, and
(01:03:45):
that is a tough pill to swallow. He turns thirty
one in October. There are you know, there's debatable of
how much he's got left in the tank. Now he
is signed. Now, he's signed long term because they extend
his country. He signed through twenty twenty eight, which will
setally take him easily to the end of his career.
If not, I don't see him playing four more years.
(01:04:06):
But the bottom line is they have not been able
to find a team that'll that'll take a chunk of
the money.
Speaker 10 (01:04:11):
That's the hold up.
Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
So what they're going to do is he's probably going
to be away from the team if it comes to August.
They'll wait as long as they can. Okay, now, Tyreek kill.
Speaker 10 (01:04:21):
The problem is, look, first.
Speaker 1 (01:04:23):
Of all, he you know, I don't know why no
one's talking about this, but it happened. He played with
a bad rist Okay more power to him.
Speaker 10 (01:04:31):
He played through it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:33):
He had risk surgery in the off season, but his
risk was not he had trouble catching the football. It
was it just didn't play well last season, but it
was because of his risk he couldn't catch it properly.
The problem this year, folks, is he's making over twenty
million dollars twenty eight million dollars. Twenty eight million dollars
for a thirty one year old receiver. I'm sorry. It's
(01:04:53):
just untradable. And next year the total cash is thirty
six million, folks. That's quarterback buddy. No one's taking not
I would say never, say never, but that's not happening.
And who was the other player asked about?
Speaker 3 (01:05:07):
John new Smith, who apparently just wants he had a
good year for the time he did.
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
He definitely rebuilt his career MANCI. So he's on the
final years deal. He's making a four point.
Speaker 10 (01:05:18):
One million.
Speaker 1 (01:05:20):
It's a he's kind of in a tough way because
he turns thirty in August. His career, boy, he saw
him a huge free agenty with New England. He never
played well. He's some stuff going on. I don't know
what it was. But he just was not himself and
then he revived his career with Atlanta. He did a
good job last year. He definitely did like he really
showed he's back. By the way, he's a two way
(01:05:40):
today and he can catch him on block. Yeah, and
he should probably be getting like nine or ten million
a year. So Drew's Drew Rosenhalez's agent is trying to
get this worked out. Drew's got a great relationship with
the Dolphins, so one way or the other. And this
stuff about Pittsburgh, I know if I'm talking to Steelers
like it's I'm guessing that Dolphins were calling around and
see what kind of value he had out there. But
(01:06:01):
Pratt Freymouth had an extension last year.
Speaker 10 (01:06:03):
He's a starter.
Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
Ye jected Darnold Washington.
Speaker 10 (01:06:05):
Two years ago.
Speaker 1 (01:06:07):
Who's there their they're why tight end. He's their inline
tight end. Who's a giant dude out of Georgia. And
they don't really have a third ten end, so they
could use another guy, but they're not going to pay
anything for another tight end.
Speaker 10 (01:06:17):
That makes no sense.
Speaker 5 (01:06:18):
Adam, all Right, we're talking about the tail end of
the Pittsburgh era in that time, and we got a
player that's came, you know, went over the water a
little bit and went to the New York Jets, and
I think it's going to have a career year this
year in Justin Fields, Let's talk about him a little bit.
I know everybody looks good in shorts in OTAs, but
he's looked amazing in the videos, So let's talk about
(01:06:40):
him a little bit.
Speaker 6 (01:06:40):
Adam, what's you think is going to happen there?
Speaker 1 (01:06:42):
Well, the cool thing he's back with Garrett Wilson is
one former teammate from Ohio State, and I think that's
actually good for Garrett. Wilson was not really happy with
the Jets last season. I'm told so Allen was artists
back on a pay cut. They still need help a receiver.
I don't know that they're done there. They're they're they're looking,
as I understand it, they're they're kind of rebuilding their
(01:07:02):
offensive line.
Speaker 6 (01:07:03):
What are you looking at a lave as well?
Speaker 4 (01:07:05):
Adham?
Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
Well, that that's that's that's just what I think. What
that is he's coming back from major injury. What that
is there is they've been looking for months, like they
they brought in Josh Reynolds, who's sort of a journeyman.
Speaker 10 (01:07:19):
He's a backup.
Speaker 1 (01:07:20):
Uh mal Kai Corley was not ready last year their
third round pick at all from talking to the Jets.
Speaker 10 (01:07:25):
And just felt he wasn't ready.
Speaker 1 (01:07:26):
Lazard bottomed nowt he got pressed in a service. He
did well late in the season, so they know they
need one more receive. They're not looking to spend a
lot of money and they want to extend Garrett Wilson's contract.
So no, I don't I don't see Chris a Lovey
coming there now, So so what are they doing over
Justin Fields? They've rebuilt their offensive line. Vera Tucker was
the first rounder. Joe Douglas, the former GM who was
(01:07:46):
rehired by the Eagles. He he drafted. Vera Tucker members
going to play right tackle for Shana play left tackle.
Tipman was the second rounder for three years ago as
their center John Simpson are probably a little left guard.
So they should have a good old line with Justin Fields. Now,
it's not a protection issue, which you have in Chicago.
It's County play consistent football.
Speaker 10 (01:08:06):
He's so up and down.
Speaker 1 (01:08:08):
Now they have a run game, which is going to
help him with With Bresol, you don't have to worry
about that. He's got to fund accuracy. He's got a
process better talking to people.
Speaker 10 (01:08:16):
I've worked with him before.
Speaker 1 (01:08:18):
There's got to be a better commitment to be a
great football player. He just can't rely on this great ability.
And what I'm told from the people on the inside
with the Bears was was never fully committed to being great.
It's he he's a good kid, but he didn't.
Speaker 10 (01:08:32):
That's why.
Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
By the way, you know, there were stories coming out
of Ohio State. A lot of stuff is true.
Speaker 10 (01:08:36):
Yeah, I mean, I'm just being honest with you. I
know he's only twenty six.
Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
You know, he's been humbled now, he's a first round
who didn't work out with you know, he's now on
his third team here, so he's got a two he's
got a two year structure on his contract, so he's
pretty much They don't have anyone else who's going to
challenge him. He's got enormous ability. They should be able
to protect him. They're going to have a run game now.
He does have a first time play caller and Tanner
Angstrat who comes over from the Lions. I know they're
(01:09:01):
very high on the Jets, so we'll see. And Aaron Glenn.
I'm a big fan of his. Really sharp guy. It's
just I mean, honestly, it's a lot of it's on
fields here, Yeah, it is. It's got so much ability though, Guys,
when it's good you go wow. When it's bad you
want to bench him. That's yeah, unfortunate part about it.
Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
Yeah, all right, last one, Stephan Diggs, is he going
to be a patriot?
Speaker 1 (01:09:26):
Well, you got to watch this stuff first of all.
And Carrie could relate to this. Kerry could actually talk.
Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
About being on a boat with women.
Speaker 1 (01:09:31):
I know contract, the language and the contract, so carry
correct me from wrong.
Speaker 10 (01:09:37):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:09:38):
I used to. I had an actual NFL contract years ago,
but I can't find it. It's on an old computer.
But there's contract. There's conduct detrimental which could avoid guarantees.
Do you remember offhand any like you ballpark id what
the language looks like.
Speaker 5 (01:09:58):
No, not really, but I do know, like you just said,
when you talk about conduct detrimental, it's very specific verbits
for certain players as well, So it's not like a
there is a standard one. But if they know that
you like to do Harley's or like whatever.
Speaker 1 (01:10:14):
Jump out of airplanes, Yes, that's actually that's the contract
that I had that that's what I said the language.
But yes, so that to me, this one's tough because
I know there were coaches on the roster that vouch
for him, that coach with him wherever he was over
his career. He's super competitive. I know he's moody. I
(01:10:35):
know a lot about him privately based on people work
with him. But he's a baller, he loves football. He's
competitive as hell. This is just the video is not good.
Obviously they're working through it as I understand it. I'm
not rolling anything out here, but they're a nightmare receiver
wis of without him. Now, they love this kid, Kyle Williams,
who's a third rounder. In fact, he might actually start.
(01:10:59):
He's roundt have watched the state who they love. This
is a guy that they identified early in the process.
But they just don't have a lot. This would not
be good because man, Drake may Cou's ball he's a baller,
he's a gun slunger. Yep, they need him. And now
Dix is coming back with toWin ACL. He's he's going
to be ready for the season. Now he's going to
be limited in training camp. As to understand it. This
(01:11:21):
is just yeah, it's a shame, man. I'm disappointed about that. V.
I don't know that. Again, I've never met him, but
I just know that they think Drake May was ahead
of schedule. This new staff that came in here, they
thought May was ahead of better than they anticipated because
they saw him by the Way's college tape. He didn't
play like this, like he was not under control, accuracy
all over the place, didn't always run the play like
(01:11:43):
they should, and they did a good job last season.
So yeah, I'm interested to the way this this.
Speaker 10 (01:11:48):
Thing works out. I see.
Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
Here's the thing, guys, I don't know how you rectify
this once the video gets out there exactly. I don't
know what you can do to make it right. I
don't know, you know, public apology, I don't know. This
is this is this is a great cause, this is
a great subject. This is a very unique situation, one
that not many we've seen like this before.
Speaker 4 (01:12:07):
Obviously.
Speaker 5 (01:12:08):
Yeah, no, the public apology makes no sense. Yeah, I mean,
it's people that's going to do No, it does nothing.
I mean, and people do what they do on their
own time, but they got to start video and stuff.
Speaker 6 (01:12:16):
That's the problem.
Speaker 2 (01:12:17):
That's what it is.
Speaker 1 (01:12:20):
Well, well, I understand that I'm not again, I'm not
defending day this powder stuff. I don't know what that was.
I'm not gonna even Yeah, I'm not expect it, but
I'll say this. Look, players have fun when they're way
from clubs. Carry knows. I'm not saying Carry did any
of this stuff, Kerry knows. So guys at the party, yes, okay, yeah, yeah,
And and you know, you gotta be careful man, you
(01:12:43):
just if anything, I hope the the the young kids
who see this, the young players, rookies in the NFL,
be very careful when you're out and about that stuff.
Keep you videoed and be smart about it. That that's
that's what I think. Learning sprints from the situation.
Speaker 8 (01:13:01):
Hey.
Speaker 1 (01:13:01):
Then, by the way, not that they're different, but you
also what happened with Larmy Tunsel and how he overcame that,
I mean, people, if there's no way and he became
one of the best left tackles of the league.
Speaker 10 (01:13:11):
And that was the one in you know with the
video with smoking the bong. You know, yeah, yeah, so hey,
it is what it is.
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
Adam, we kept you extra long.
Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
Thank you so much. Appreciate it. We'll talk to you
next week.
Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
That's good.
Speaker 3 (01:13:22):
You can follow our NFL insider on ex Twitter at
Kaplan NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:13:27):
Now, let's head to the.
Speaker 3 (01:13:28):
News desk with Martin Weiss, who's been waiting so patiently
as he also likes to party on the boats, right.
Speaker 4 (01:13:37):
Martin, Martin parties on boats?
Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
Sure?
Speaker 4 (01:13:40):
Sure, I haven't been on a boat in quite some time.
Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
Oh me, neither. It's been a while.
Speaker 15 (01:13:44):
You live next to the ocean, Martin. That doesn't mean
within fifty miles of the ocean.
Speaker 11 (01:13:49):
It'd be a lot easier, Sam, if I lived on
the other side of a river or something, and then
I'd probably be on more boats. Was simply because the
ocean is there doesn't mean I'm just going to.
Speaker 4 (01:13:57):
Just go what I was supposed to go, just a
regular basis. What are we doing?
Speaker 10 (01:14:02):
Kin?
Speaker 4 (01:14:03):
I guess? So sorry, I'm busted into this update here
curiate man style.
Speaker 11 (01:14:08):
Yeah, did we need it to Laura Mieler from Tennessee
walks Off and the Women's College World series Eliminade. She
gave U c l a coming back home. Maybe they'll
take a boat, according to Sam Me on the way
(01:14:28):
from where they are to California, but five to four.
The final score of Laurier Miler with a walk off
single after the bases loaded for the Lady Volunteers. This
coming after UCLA hit a home run. Didn't step on
home play, but it didn't matter if the home run
counted anyway.
Speaker 4 (01:14:47):
It's been a.
Speaker 11 (01:14:47):
Wild all right. Now, let's go to baseball. Got one
game live right now. The Pirates with a four to
one lead over the Padres. We just saw the Diamondbacks
wrap up the Nationals three to one. Mayor, and there's
two to one over the Twins. Kyle Rawley with a
home run. Clubs three to seven over the Reds. Astros
(01:15:09):
blank the Rays one to nothing. Same story with the
Tigers and the Royals.
Speaker 4 (01:15:13):
One to nothing.
Speaker 11 (01:15:14):
Giants four to two over the Marlins. The Mets hit
three home runs on the way to beating the Rockies
five to three. Rockies have lost fifty games, twenty eight
on the road.
Speaker 4 (01:15:24):
They won't let's say like this, they've won three games
on the road.
Speaker 2 (01:15:27):
Sh that's not It's June.
Speaker 11 (01:15:30):
The Guardians before beat the Angels forty two. Blue Jay's
double up the A's eight to four. Brewers get their
seventh straight win. In a row five to two over
the Phillies.
Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
Back to you guys, Thank you so much.
Speaker 8 (01:15:43):
Martin.
Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
You're listening to Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 3 (01:15:45):
How does Carrie feel about new fathers dozing off on
the clock. We're gonna find out next here on.
Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (01:15:54):
I going Stefani back in the day, no doubt, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
Yes, on Sunday. What's up everybody?
Speaker 3 (01:16:03):
Fox Sports Radio Monte Bilanos alongside former All Pro safety
Carry Roads. Let's get into it. Who All right, everybody,
if you've never listened to this segment, carry on her off.
I'm gonna tell.
Speaker 2 (01:16:17):
Carrie some things, and he's just gonna tell us whether
he's on board with it or not.
Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
Really easy, all right, Carrie, how are you on or off?
New fathers falling asleep on the clock, taking a little siesta,
maybe dozing off a.
Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
New father you're tired? How do you feel about that?
Carry on her Off?
Speaker 5 (01:16:37):
Yeah, I'm I'm on that.
Speaker 4 (01:16:39):
I'm on that.
Speaker 2 (01:16:40):
You're on that, I'm on here, You're okay?
Speaker 10 (01:16:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:16:42):
I mean, you know, long sleepless nights can occur when
you have a newborn and you know there's not enough
rests to go around you gotta You gotta help the wife.
Speaker 6 (01:16:52):
You gotta help the missus.
Speaker 5 (01:16:53):
You gotta assist, you gotta take the garbage out, you
gotta clean, you gotta cook, You gotta do all these
things at home as a new father, And so when
you get out into the world, doesn't matter if you
had your.
Speaker 4 (01:17:02):
Place of work.
Speaker 5 (01:17:03):
If you need a quick little snooze, a little nap,
take a little nap, I'm down.
Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
That's what I think.
Speaker 3 (01:17:09):
Tani took a nap yesterday against your Yankees, not because
the game was boring in eighteen to two, but because
he was a new time father and he just got
a little tired.
Speaker 5 (01:17:18):
That's what I like that observation better. Yeah, he was
was He wasn't bored because they would beat the Yankee
so bad.
Speaker 3 (01:17:23):
No, not at all, not at all all right, Carrie,
are you on or off Reggie Miller being so open
about his Pacers fandom while covering the playoffs?
Speaker 4 (01:17:35):
You guys can't see my face, but.
Speaker 5 (01:17:38):
I'm definitely on that action, Okay, I am. I mean,
TNT knew when they hired him if the Pacers were
in that position, He's going to be a PACER's guy.
Speaker 4 (01:17:48):
He's a Pacers guy.
Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
Absolutely.
Speaker 5 (01:17:50):
He's on the number one call for them right now,
so he's got that game. He's a pacer legend. Of
course he's going to be down with the Pacers all
the way.
Speaker 6 (01:18:01):
Homer one. I'm down for that.
Speaker 2 (01:18:05):
Don't hide it. I love it all right, Carrie? Are
you honor?
Speaker 3 (01:18:10):
You're laughing Sydney Sweeney selling five thousand bars of soap
that contain drops of her own bath water.
Speaker 6 (01:18:18):
Yes, I am off that for sure.
Speaker 4 (01:18:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:18:22):
I'm a pretty I'm a pretty clean guy.
Speaker 5 (01:18:24):
And to have the thought that some random woman is
random selling her soap, her soapy water and giving it
to other people recycled, it makes me want to bar.
Speaker 4 (01:18:36):
Okay, so that's where I am with it.
Speaker 2 (01:18:38):
I'm gonna buy you. I'm gonna buy you this soap.
Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
I just want you to know that you're getting a
Sydney sweety soap with her own bathwater. Do you guys
remember years ago when Kevin Durant tweeted something like I
would drink Scarlet.
Speaker 2 (01:18:54):
Johansson's So you're not on that either, no drinking and
no soap.
Speaker 4 (01:18:59):
No, it's just like me, absolutely not wrink the water. Yes,
it's just like me, like soap. Why would you do that? Why?
Speaker 5 (01:19:10):
I mean, and there's gonna she's gonna be a billion
a billionaire off of this guy. Somebody's a lot of
weirdos are going to buy it and make it.
Speaker 3 (01:19:17):
It's only five thousand bars, soap.
Speaker 2 (01:19:21):
Yes, it's a limited edition for you.
Speaker 3 (01:19:25):
Don't you worry. This is Fox Sports Sunday. Don't go anywhere.
He's carry Roads.
Speaker 6 (01:19:30):
I'm buying soap.
Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
Oh if these mics.
Speaker 4 (01:19:35):
They knew what we would say.
Speaker 2 (01:19:36):
We were just talking about what's up?
Speaker 3 (01:19:39):
Everybody happy Sunday June first, thank you for hanging out
with us. I'm ancy carry Roads here with me as
we now dive back into the n b A. But
this time we're gonna dive into the finals.
Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
Carrie, It's not until Thursday. Seems far away.
Speaker 4 (01:19:57):
That is a long far away.
Speaker 2 (01:19:59):
Yeah. The next time we're sitting here in a week,
two games will be already right, Yeah, Thursday and Saturday.
Speaker 3 (01:20:07):
Right, so we're here Sunday, Yeah, so two games will
have already completed by the time we reunite.
Speaker 2 (01:20:12):
So let's dive into what we expect here.
Speaker 3 (01:20:17):
I know that a lot of people are saying this
is gonna be a boring series.
Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
Two small markets, and I don't know if it's.
Speaker 3 (01:20:25):
Just gonna be like us, We're not casuals.
Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
We love the NBA, we love basketball.
Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
I feel like anyone who thinks that, it's like you're
gonna miss out on what could be a really fun
series because of the matchup, Like, there's so much that
I feel like they're good at this, but they're good
at that.
Speaker 2 (01:20:44):
So how is this gonna balance out? How's it gonna work?
Speaker 3 (01:20:47):
You get two really awesome guards in Tyrese Halliburton, who
loves the moment as we've seen, loves the moment, and
then the MVP, Shaye Gilgess Alexander. I do believe that
OKAC is the team that should win this, but I
also didn't think Indiana should be here, and here they are.
Speaker 2 (01:21:08):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:21:09):
Yea, So even though I think OKAC should win this,
I think the Thunder can give them a run for
their money.
Speaker 2 (01:21:20):
They're gonna have the pace to keep up with the Thunder.
Speaker 3 (01:21:22):
The Thunder have a great pace, but they both do
so it's like, okay, great that eliminates each other. The
defense for OKAC, obviously we know, is out of this world.
They're gonna guard the Pacers a minute they get off
the bus. But at the same time, all of the
Pacers play pretty good defense. Also, like it's not like
it's super lopsided. It's just we're used to OKAYC being
(01:21:45):
the heavy defensive team as we've seen all year. But
I will say, if we want to look at the
regular season for anything, Tyre's Halliburn in the last two
years against OKAC his lowest average against any.
Speaker 2 (01:22:01):
Team twelve points. Who's Tyre's Halliburn?
Speaker 6 (01:22:05):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (01:22:05):
Again, four games over the.
Speaker 3 (01:22:07):
Course of two years, lowest average against any team, it's
been against.
Speaker 2 (01:22:11):
OKAYC got Okay. So if you if we want to
look at the regular season, all right.
Speaker 3 (01:22:16):
He also hasn't shot the ball a lot though, Like
it hasn't been that he has shot twenty five shots
and has not shot well. He just has not shot
the ball. Now, is that that he's not aggressive or
is that the defense on Okay? See, I don't know.
Right playoffs are gonna be a little bit different. Lou
Dort has been the best defender on Halliburton, Okay statistically,
(01:22:39):
Like if you look at the numbers, he is the
guy that has the best time with him or the
other way that Halliburton has had the worst time with
right has been Loudort, But we know that okayc likes
to move around like it might not just be lou Dort,
maybe Alex Caruso, you know, maybe a little Jalen Williams.
Speaker 2 (01:22:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:22:55):
I don't know what they're gonna do, but they.
Speaker 2 (01:22:58):
Got a lot that's exact.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
Pacers shoot really well from the three, as we saw
in these playoffs. Okay, see has the best perimeter defense
that we've seen. So there's a lot of things where
I wonder what's gonna cancel what out. But the one
thing that does stand out to me is Tyrese Halliburn's
performance the last against small sample size four games two years.
Speaker 2 (01:23:19):
But he's struggled the most.
Speaker 6 (01:23:21):
All right, look, I'm looking at this right now, so
you're ready, Yeah, right.
Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
You're writing out the matchups.
Speaker 10 (01:23:27):
I get it.
Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
You need to see it visually.
Speaker 4 (01:23:29):
I understand.
Speaker 2 (01:23:29):
I understand.
Speaker 5 (01:23:30):
So listen right now. You got sg A and Hallie, Right, Halliburton,
you got Door.
Speaker 2 (01:23:34):
I don't think that they're gonna guard each other.
Speaker 5 (01:23:38):
Dorm Hart, Yes, you got Williams, Nate Smith, you got
chat Sakham, you got Hart and Stein Turner.
Speaker 6 (01:23:44):
Right.
Speaker 5 (01:23:44):
Yeah, I look at those both starting lineups, and it's
pretty even. I you know, I think it's even. I
think there's some places where you can say Indiana has
the advantage. You can say the same thing about Okay. See,
it's gonna come down to the bench. Both teams are deep,
both teams can play a lot of players. But I think, Okay,
(01:24:06):
CS bench is a bigger factor in this series. And
I say that because of what we just what you
just talked about Halliburton, He's gonna get worn down.
Speaker 6 (01:24:18):
In this series.
Speaker 5 (01:24:19):
And this is what I'm scared for them, because they're
gonna throw door It at him first. Yep, They're gonna
throw Caruso at him. They're gonna throw Cason Wallace at him.
Oh yeah, like he's.
Speaker 6 (01:24:30):
Not gonna get a break at all.
Speaker 5 (01:24:34):
And so what that means for me is when you
look at it the other way around, who are they
gonna throw at Sga, Right, They're gonna they're gonna throw
Nim Hart, They're gonna throw Nie Smith. I would think
Nie Smith would be first on them. But it's gonna
come down to these matchups, these individual matchups, and it's
gonna come down to the bench and when I look
at Okac's bench and what they're able to do as
far as their pressure up and down the court, which
(01:24:57):
the Pacers can do as well. But with just they
have so many options to throw at the head of
the snake for Indianapolis, which is Haliburton, which it scares me.
For the Pacers, I guess I'm gonna you know, I'm
leaning towards Okay see here, and I think I would
say probably six games, but I'm not ready to count
(01:25:20):
off the Pacers yet, and so I don't want to
make my pick just yet.
Speaker 6 (01:25:24):
Before we leave. I will, but let me think about
a little more.
Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
I'm with you one hundred percent, and even talking with
mark Stein in our one, if you haven't listened, you're
gonna check out the podcast. Don't worry, we will put
up the podcast. In fact, shortly after the show, our
podcast will be going up. Don't worry about that. But
even mark Stein said, like everybody has just dismissed the Pacers.
They've just been underrated the whole season for a reason
because they weren't very great at the start of the season,
(01:25:49):
but they picked it up when it mattered, and here
they are so okay, see, also cannot take them for granted.
Speaker 2 (01:25:55):
No, everything they've done in.
Speaker 3 (01:25:57):
This playoffs, this postseason shows that they have every right
to be here. They have comeback wins, they have tight wins,
they have a couple of blowout wins.
Speaker 2 (01:26:08):
They've done it all.
Speaker 3 (01:26:09):
But so has the Thunder, Right, the thunder have also
had a pretty easy time in the playoffs. Now, I
don't know if that's gonna hit them negatively because you
haven't been as tested as the Pacers.
Speaker 2 (01:26:24):
And we've talked about Rick.
Speaker 3 (01:26:25):
Carlisle and how great he has been using his entire
team and trusting them that I feel like he has
to have a game plan for how to get Tyreese
Haliburton going.
Speaker 2 (01:26:36):
But that's gonna be the most important thing.
Speaker 5 (01:26:38):
Yeah, And the thing about Tyree is Halliburton. He can
have a positive impact on the game.
Speaker 2 (01:26:43):
What else that's scoring and yes, and so it's.
Speaker 5 (01:26:46):
Not about I mean, he's going to have to score
for them to win this series, now, don't get it twisted. Sure,
but they can win without him scoring twenty five points. Absolutely,
And so it goes to the other matchups, right, and
then we talk about it. Carlile, who you know I'm
big on and I've talked about him before. I would
take Carlile over Mark Degnol right now, I would too.
(01:27:08):
So when it comes to the coach in acumen and
what's going to happen in the in the flow of
a series, I've seen Carlile with the Dallas Mavericks beat
the mighty the Mighty Miami Heat with the Big Three,
So I don't count him out of any situation.
Speaker 2 (01:27:25):
Absolutely. Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:27:27):
Another thing that okay see, I don't think is ready
that they maybe did not see. Okay, they faced the Grizzlies,
they faced Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (01:27:35):
And they faced who am I missing?
Speaker 6 (01:27:36):
Denver?
Speaker 2 (01:27:37):
Denver? Yep, Denver, Denver.
Speaker 3 (01:27:39):
Denver protects the ball pretty well. But I feel like
with the Grizzlies and with Minnesota, they don't protect the
ball the way the Pacers do. So like okay see
averages over ten steals per game when it comes to
the with this postseason, I don't see that being a
thing for them. I think Pacers take care of the ball,
and that's going to be a couple of points that
(01:28:00):
okay see those fast break points, the steals, that's not
gonna happen for okay see.
Speaker 2 (01:28:04):
I think in this series.
Speaker 5 (01:28:06):
That's gonna be key. I mean, that's that's key in
any series, but especially in this one. Right the team
that can get the most the most possessions in this
series is gonna win because again, both teams like to score,
both teams can run, Both teams are playing really good
defense in this playoff run, and so when you look
at the numbers, I'm sure they're very probably equally matched.
(01:28:29):
Whoever doesn't turn the ball over is gonna win, and
we're we're discounting. I don't think we have overall, but
in right now, in this scenario, the Pacers can cause
turnovers as well.
Speaker 4 (01:28:40):
Oh yeah, and so I did earlier.
Speaker 5 (01:28:44):
They score, yes, and so it's gonna come down the
turnovers and who gets the most possessions with Who's gonna
win this series to me in my opinion, So.
Speaker 2 (01:28:53):
Let's say we eliminate I think you're on it. Let's
say we just eliminate.
Speaker 3 (01:28:57):
SGA because Pacers, no one, he's gonna he's gonna try
and get felled.
Speaker 11 (01:29:01):
They know that.
Speaker 2 (01:29:02):
So it's like, okay, we come in with the with
the plan, don't foul him.
Speaker 6 (01:29:06):
And they just played who does the same.
Speaker 3 (01:29:09):
Thing, the same thing so they can adjust to that,
and I'm sure they're planning for that. And then let's
say they eliminate Tyrese Haliburton from scoring, but like you said,
he's going to have high assists.
Speaker 2 (01:29:21):
He can still rebound.
Speaker 3 (01:29:22):
The ball, he can deliver in other ways. Then it
moves on to the next players. And so I feel
like it's gonna come down to Jalen Williams for the Thunder,
not Chet Holmgren. I think it's on Jalen Williams. Why
because I think Chet is gonna be Chet. Can Chet
be more than what he already does?
Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
I don't know, not this year. Maybe you get what
I'm saying. Maybe not this year.
Speaker 3 (01:29:47):
I think the ceiling is still the question is still
there for how much Chet Homegren can grow.
Speaker 2 (01:29:53):
But right now I think this is what we're gonna get.
Speaker 3 (01:29:55):
I feel like for Jalen Williams, he can actually go
off and I think he will be the X factor
for the Thunder.
Speaker 6 (01:30:04):
That's a good one. He's going to have a tough
matchup though.
Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
He is gonna have a tough match He's either going to.
Speaker 5 (01:30:08):
Have Siakam or Nie Smith on him or topping as well.
Like they got guys who can defend him at at
a at a high rate, so he is going to
have to play.
Speaker 6 (01:30:18):
Well for them to win.
Speaker 5 (01:30:20):
But I actually I'm actually intrigued with this Chet and
Males Turner matchup for me as well. They're both guys
who like to stretch it, stretch fives, They're they're picking
pop guys. I think now with Turner he will actually
have a little bit of an advantage inside this time
because he had to deal with Mitchell Robinson who was
killing everybody last series. So I think he's got he's got.
(01:30:45):
I think Turner's gonna have the advantage inside to get
a little bit more physical than Chests, And so I
want to see what happens with Chet.
Speaker 3 (01:30:52):
Here because I do feel like, you know, Mitchell Robinson
was so great, but he is like almost like a tree.
Speaker 2 (01:30:58):
Right like you you you face, you come and it's
like this tree and you just don't know what to
do with it.
Speaker 3 (01:31:02):
With chet Holmgren, he's like a branch and you get
what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (01:31:05):
It's like.
Speaker 2 (01:31:06):
But the thing with Cheded Holmgren is.
Speaker 3 (01:31:08):
Like, oh, you think you got past him, but his
long arm is right there to block you. So you
might think you got past him as you would with
another tree like Mitchell Robinson.
Speaker 2 (01:31:20):
But Chet is there.
Speaker 3 (01:31:21):
Chet is quick enough to get back even if you
can't pass him for a hot second. And so Chet
is that's gonna be a good matchup. And like Myles Turner,
I'm glad you brought him up because you're really high
on him.
Speaker 2 (01:31:33):
And then he was He was fine, He.
Speaker 3 (01:31:34):
Was fine, but he kind of cooled off a little
bit in this series, you know what I'm saying, like
and down, a little up and down.
Speaker 2 (01:31:41):
And I do think he is.
Speaker 3 (01:31:42):
He's definitely gonna have to deliver. But they're all gonna
have to deliver. If we just eliminate the two guards,
everybody else still has to perform.
Speaker 10 (01:31:50):
Woo.
Speaker 5 (01:31:51):
Yeah, I mean look at it. I mean you look
at their start in five. Okay, see it has to
be Chet, Williams and Sga like have to score.
Speaker 2 (01:32:00):
Yeah, they do because if you look.
Speaker 5 (01:32:02):
At it, I mean, obviously they're talented and they score
points off their defense. But if you're not turning the
ball over, which the Pacers do not do they don't.
This is why the series can flip. I mean, Sga is,
he's gonna have to be an MVP in this series.
But Williams and chet are gonna have to be all
stars to win this series as well, and so are
(01:32:25):
they both going to win that matchups?
Speaker 4 (01:32:26):
I don't know, So that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:32:30):
And then you think about just the NBA Finals experience
for these two teams. There's two guys one on each
team who's won a championship before, but one who knows
how to do it at a higher level than the other,
and that's Pascal Siaka and Alex Caruso.
Speaker 4 (01:32:48):
Carusso is a role player. He's going to do his.
Speaker 5 (01:32:50):
Thing, but Siakam knows what he plays at a high
level and knows how to get this thing done. So
Williams is going to have to match Siakam and that's
gonna be interesting.
Speaker 3 (01:33:01):
If you're listening and we haven't sold this to you,
because this is gonna be better. I think the people
are anticipating, and I even if like I don't, I can't.
I'm not gonna decide yet. We'll leave it at the
end to see what we both feel our final prediction, right, Yes,
but I I just don't see, okay, see walking away
with this easily. I think the Pacers are gonna make
(01:33:23):
it hard. Even if okay See wins. This might be
a much closer matchup than people are making it out
to be. And it's because of depth, it's because of coaching,
it's because of pace, it's because of protecting the ball.
Speaker 2 (01:33:35):
They all do.
Speaker 6 (01:33:36):
That, and real basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:33:39):
And real basketball.
Speaker 5 (01:33:40):
Outside of outside of the flopping from Shaye you know,
I hate, yes, Outside of that, it's real basketball. It's
gonna be adjustments, is gonna be game playing specific, it's
gonna be pace, gonna be a lot of ball movement,
pure point guards. It's gonna be a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:33:54):
It's gonna be a lot run and we're gonna see
you know, two arenas that the fans actually put their
their shirts on.
Speaker 4 (01:33:59):
They're gonna they're actually.
Speaker 3 (01:34:01):
We're actually is everybody wearing yellow or everybody wear white
or blue?
Speaker 2 (01:34:05):
I can't wait, I need to pay us they we
just we just saw that without even really trying. But
it's like, these are the facts, guys.
Speaker 3 (01:34:11):
These teams are actually very similar and how you win
basketball games. They both execute all of those things. Woa wait,
you know it's funny, shake Gil just Alexander has not
won anything.
Speaker 2 (01:34:24):
A star, superstar and a pretty hated one.
Speaker 4 (01:34:28):
He's getting up there yet already.
Speaker 5 (01:34:30):
I mean, I saw a clip of Sabrina and Escu
saying something.
Speaker 2 (01:34:35):
About the fowls. Yes, So is there a superstar out
there that's not really hated? I think there is? You do,
I do, and we're gonna dive into that. He's Carrie.
Speaker 3 (01:34:45):
I'm Moncey and you're listening to Fox Sports Round.
Speaker 2 (01:34:50):
Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 3 (01:34:52):
I am Moncey Bolanos alongside former All Pro safety Carrie Roads,
hanging out with you on this June first June, first June,
the first of June, the first of June.
Speaker 2 (01:35:06):
God, it's Christmas is tomorrow. Like, That's what I feel.
Speaker 6 (01:35:10):
That's what I'm thinking about right now, right.
Speaker 2 (01:35:12):
It's that's how I feel. Football season is already here.
That's how it feels like, which.
Speaker 6 (01:35:16):
Were very Division's almost settled.
Speaker 2 (01:35:17):
The division is almost settled. Absolutely.
Speaker 3 (01:35:20):
There is one game going on right now in baseball
where Carrie and I are are not, and it's the
Dodgers and the Yankees, because Carrie is a Yankee fan,
right and after that.
Speaker 2 (01:35:33):
Ass whooping yesterday, you have to say that. I mean,
but those are facts, you know what I'm saying those.
It was bad.
Speaker 4 (01:35:39):
It was bad.
Speaker 2 (01:35:40):
It was Game one. Was exciting for you.
Speaker 4 (01:35:44):
The Dodgers won, but I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:35:46):
But it was an exciting game.
Speaker 6 (01:35:47):
Will not be swept. I know that we're winning to.
Speaker 2 (01:35:50):
You are in Europe right now. It's just got going.
It just got going.
Speaker 3 (01:35:52):
And Yoshinobu Yamamoto is on the mound for the Dodgers
and the Yankees already on the scoreboard, it's one zero.
I'm sure Martin Weiss will have more to tell you
in a little bit. But on Friday night at the game, Shay, listen, Martin,
I see you.
Speaker 2 (01:36:08):
Don't indicate that you don't have anything to tell me.
I see you, okay. We have glass windows here, you guys,
I can see you. I can't hear you, but I
can see you.
Speaker 3 (01:36:19):
On a fridayday Game one between the Dodgers and the Yankees,
I was at Dodger Stadium with our producer, Shay. Shae
was there with a friend. I was working and stuck
around to catch some of.
Speaker 4 (01:36:31):
The game time out, But where was my invite?
Speaker 2 (01:36:35):
I was working. He went with his buddy who has
a partial scene. So that's that's what it was. Trust me.
Speaker 3 (01:36:42):
Shit was trying to find tickets and he got real
lucky that his buddy hit him up.
Speaker 2 (01:36:47):
So we are we're watching this game, and in one of.
Speaker 3 (01:36:50):
The VIP areas we'll say where like the season sweets
are and whatnot. So we're hanging out and it's the
first inning and everybody's super excited, right Yankees.
Speaker 2 (01:36:59):
Dodgers, And Aaron Judge hits a home run in the
first inning.
Speaker 6 (01:37:02):
What he does?
Speaker 2 (01:37:03):
What he does?
Speaker 3 (01:37:04):
Okay, and in our section and like you couldn't really
hear it, but there were no booze, no booze when
Aaron Judge hit that home run and Shaye right put
your MinC up shaw you were there with her.
Speaker 12 (01:37:16):
Yeah, yeah, so ah, no booze at all, no booze
if anything. I looked at Manzi and I was like,
I don't know how to feel right, Like it's it's
cool because like I've never seen the Yankees play. I'm
a massive Dodger fan. But if I was to choose
a team and they're different in the other conference, it's.
Speaker 2 (01:37:32):
It should be. Of course that's also my American League team.
Speaker 12 (01:37:36):
To yeah, exactly exactly. So when I saw that, I
was like, oh, it was cool, but like the first
inning what's going on?
Speaker 2 (01:37:44):
But no joke. I think that was everyone's reaction. There
were no boos. In fact, I feel like some people
clapped because there were Dodger fans. They were like, oh
okay Aaron, oh okay. Yes, it was just a moment.
And then I looked at Shay right then and there,
and I.
Speaker 3 (01:37:59):
Was like, I feel like Aaron Judge is the most
loved superstar in sports.
Speaker 2 (01:38:06):
Like nobody hates Aaron Judge.
Speaker 3 (01:38:08):
And that's where sports like across all sports, Aaron Judge
and I mean super star, right, yes, like not just
because we're there's stars everywhere, but like and he's a star, right,
star star star stars.
Speaker 2 (01:38:23):
I don't know if anyone dislikes Aaron Judge.
Speaker 6 (01:38:28):
I I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (01:38:30):
I don't think so.
Speaker 5 (01:38:31):
But I think the reason behind it for him is
why I think there's a couple.
Speaker 2 (01:38:36):
Okay, let's dive into that.
Speaker 5 (01:38:38):
Okay, For him, he has no and I'm knock on wood,
he has no controversy.
Speaker 2 (01:38:45):
No controversy. That's a good one.
Speaker 12 (01:38:47):
So number one he has a controversy. The most is
like he didn't pay like a contractor, but like like
like it's like not a real controversy because I'm sure
he did pay the contractor just trying to do something,
you know, right.
Speaker 6 (01:38:59):
So he has none of that. He only speaks about
the team.
Speaker 2 (01:39:04):
Yes, that's a big part. I do agree.
Speaker 5 (01:39:06):
He does not talk about himself at all. He deflects everything, yep.
And I think the other part of it with him
is he's such a big human being. Yes, but he's
so kind at the same time, like kind hearted, so
(01:39:26):
that people I think there's like this affinity, like this
attraction to that for him, yes, which other people don't have.
Speaker 6 (01:39:34):
Like he's already like superhuman.
Speaker 5 (01:39:36):
Yes, he plays like a superhuman absolutely, and he also
seems to be a superhuman yes.
Speaker 4 (01:39:41):
Air quotes so like, there's no why would you hate
that guy?
Speaker 3 (01:39:45):
You know, you hit it right on the money with
a lot of things like no reason to hate, But
I feel like, SGA, there's no reason really to hate
this guy. He became a superstar kind of overnight, hasn't
won anything. Because I do think that's a part of it.
Like everybody loved Pat Mahomes until he started winning, and now.
Speaker 2 (01:40:02):
It's like, oh I can't stand him.
Speaker 1 (01:40:04):
Boy.
Speaker 16 (01:40:04):
You were really rooting for him against Tom Brady because
you wanted Tom Brady to stop winning, so then he
starts winning, and then that flipped a script a script
And now obviously like adding, you know Travis Kelcey, like
there's more to it now.
Speaker 3 (01:40:17):
But even before Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey was a
thing with the Chiefs, people already started hating Patrick Mahomes
and the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (01:40:23):
Because of winning. So winning, he hasn't won yet. He
has not won.
Speaker 3 (01:40:29):
He was in the World Series, we know that, and
he has not won. I wonder if that changes, but
I don't because of what you said. The Yankees have
not had a captain since Derek Jeter, and then he
became a captain because of his persona, his personality and
how he carries himself like that is a big part
of it, all right, Steph Curry, is he hated or
(01:40:52):
more loved than hated? And by the way, Martin and Sam,
if you guys want to jump in on this Superstar
conversation of who's really not hated?
Speaker 2 (01:41:00):
I only think it's Aaron Judge, But what about Steph Curry.
Speaker 5 (01:41:03):
He's more loved than hated. But he started to get
a little irritating as well.
Speaker 12 (01:41:07):
I hated him twenty six. I hated him back then.
Why what do you mean why? I mean, it's just like
it's like it's this guy does not miss a shot,
and it's like it's the winning.
Speaker 4 (01:41:19):
It's it's the winning.
Speaker 12 (01:41:22):
It's not his off field, and like he doesn't do
anything like in his press conferences, he's not like a
massive He's great in his press conferences.
Speaker 4 (01:41:30):
He's a showman, does a lot, so he is.
Speaker 12 (01:41:33):
That's the difference between him and Judge. Judge is mild mannered,
doesn't flip his bat. He's a boring Honestly, he's a
boring guy. Like I don't see him do anything in
the media outside of sports, right, Like I don't see
him all he's dating this only fans model for ends,
Like he's not doing that, Like he's not doing any
of that stuff. No, but Steph Curry, like he does
(01:41:54):
do that stuff. And I think that's what kind of
digs at me a little bit, especially during the finals
and all.
Speaker 3 (01:41:59):
That is the one where I do think it's like
a who is he hated more or loved more? And
I do think it's like Steph Curry the person nobody
hates him, No, but Steph Curry the Warrior.
Speaker 17 (01:42:11):
Yeah, is hated, you know, as a war It's like
it's a little him.
Speaker 4 (01:42:17):
I hate that. Oh, I hate the shimmy right now.
Speaker 12 (01:42:22):
It's like, right now, Steph Curry, I love Steph Curry
right now, he's cool.
Speaker 2 (01:42:27):
But if he was right now in the finals.
Speaker 12 (01:42:30):
Well, honestly, I might want to I might just want
to see him get that other ring, so he could
get that other ring.
Speaker 2 (01:42:34):
Okay, so he flips you there a little bit.
Speaker 12 (01:42:36):
The twenty sixteen Steph Curry, I hate it. Oh, he
got a specific I did not. I wanted Lebron. I'm
going a Lebron fan.
Speaker 2 (01:42:43):
Okay, Lebron's hate it. I hate it.
Speaker 4 (01:42:46):
I think he has way more haters than.
Speaker 3 (01:42:48):
Yeah, on and off the court, hate it all around.
Also loved but also.
Speaker 4 (01:42:53):
Hate him and MJ. Even Kobe's hated.
Speaker 3 (01:42:57):
Yeah, I think Kobe's a little different now, you know,
yeah obviously, but yes, Kobe was hated a lot of
people hated Kobe because yeah, because of winning, and well the.
Speaker 6 (01:43:07):
Kobe thing is they wanted to hate though. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:43:10):
They If no one's hating on me, I ain't doing
the right thing.
Speaker 6 (01:43:13):
Yeah, Yeah, that's what I think with that one.
Speaker 2 (01:43:15):
Yes, then you look at Caitlyn Clark, hated by so
many hate.
Speaker 3 (01:43:20):
Going on Superstar, Yeah, Superstar, first.
Speaker 2 (01:43:23):
Year in the league, so hated by so many.
Speaker 12 (01:43:26):
I mean, I mean it's easy to she isn't one
because she has those off field, like the media, she's
talking to anything. Honestly, that's one thing that like she
It was like Angel Rees and what everyone else was
saying about her, literally that made them hate her for
some reason.
Speaker 4 (01:43:42):
I don't know why.
Speaker 12 (01:43:43):
She wasn't really saying anything or doing anything. Does she
was playing the game? Yeah, that's an interesting one. But hated, Yeah,
I hated hate. Actually, you know someone that's in the media,
but I don't think really has any haters.
Speaker 10 (01:43:54):
Yokic.
Speaker 4 (01:43:55):
I'm a Laker fan.
Speaker 2 (01:43:56):
And I don't is a good one. That is a
good one.
Speaker 12 (01:43:59):
I don't know if it's because he's like this foreign
guy that to me is like, oh, he's so lovable,
like he's he comes out and he's.
Speaker 2 (01:44:06):
Just not a word I would put.
Speaker 12 (01:44:07):
He's so lovable in his press conferences and just like
any time he goes into the media or talks or
like does something horrid, like he doesn't even care about NBA.
Like I don't there's something I really like.
Speaker 4 (01:44:17):
I'll tell you why.
Speaker 5 (01:44:18):
Well, say, his vocabulary isn't big, so yeah, it reminds.
Speaker 12 (01:44:21):
Me of my dad honestly, because like he talks like
my dad does. So maybe that's why I love him.
Speaker 2 (01:44:26):
But that's a good one.
Speaker 3 (01:44:27):
I do think Nicole Yo might be another superstar that
is not hated. I'm sure somebody maybe, but like generally
not hated. Also only one one.
Speaker 2 (01:44:37):
I think people thought he was maybe gonna win more
he has not that he can't.
Speaker 5 (01:44:41):
Yeah, and he kind of falls in the judge's line,
like right, doesn't say much outside of the game. He
just goes out and does his business, and he flops
a little bit sometimes he doesn't.
Speaker 3 (01:44:50):
More so we saw it this year than ever, Like
I feel like it was more heightened than other years.
Speaker 12 (01:44:55):
Something with this discussion, though, I think hating we like
you keeping the because they're on the team, blah blah blahlah.
Like hating because they're on the team doesn't because like,
if you're a Red Sox fan, you're gonna hate Erin.
Speaker 2 (01:45:06):
You probably and hate the uniform exactly.
Speaker 12 (01:45:09):
And it's because he's wearing that uniform. But if he
was on the Red SOX, you would probably love this guy.
Speaker 2 (01:45:13):
Right, So it's a little bit more than the jersey.
Speaker 12 (01:45:16):
Yeah, Like to us, it's like it's them as like
a character, them as like in the media. Honestly, if
you stay out of the media and you're a good athlete,
that's the point, you're probably gonna be a beloved.
Speaker 4 (01:45:27):
Player, right, And that's the point it is, all right?
Speaker 2 (01:45:29):
What about What do you think about shoeo Tani? How
do you I?
Speaker 4 (01:45:34):
Because we're in LA, Like, I can't say I love
the guy, but.
Speaker 3 (01:45:38):
Like sometimes when I come across social media comments and this,
this and that, I feel like we love.
Speaker 2 (01:45:44):
Him here in LA.
Speaker 3 (01:45:46):
But I don't know if he is loved a couple
of things maybe, like some people feel that he took
the easy route in joining the Dodgers and already stacked team,
right like that what I think the gambling thing is
never going to go away, even if you wanted to,
like and so I think we don't see it. But
I feel like O Tawni is not universally loved the
(01:46:09):
way Aaron judges.
Speaker 5 (01:46:10):
Oh the crazy part about him, I don't even I
don't even think his name carries as much weight as
you guys think either.
Speaker 4 (01:46:17):
I mean, obviously he's a star. I mean we know that.
We know that.
Speaker 5 (01:46:20):
No, yes, everybody who knows sports knows that I'm saying.
I don't think anybody he's on on the radar enough
for people to care, which is crazy in my opinion.
Speaker 6 (01:46:30):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:46:31):
I don't think. I don't even think about him on
the day to day. You know what I mean.
Speaker 6 (01:46:35):
I look and I'm in sports, right, you know what I mean,
and I'm in LA.
Speaker 4 (01:46:39):
Is that crazy? I mean, yes, I.
Speaker 2 (01:46:41):
Think you're You're an exception here to the rule.
Speaker 3 (01:46:43):
I do think he is a big topic of conversation,
and I do think, like you say, O Tawny to someone,
they know who it.
Speaker 2 (01:46:52):
Is, like, you know what I mean, they'd be like, oh, the.
Speaker 3 (01:46:56):
Asian baseball ploorer, because maybe that's why you know what
I'm saying, Oh the Asian baseball player, Oh Tony, Like, yes.
Speaker 2 (01:47:02):
I I think he is definitely.
Speaker 3 (01:47:05):
Maybe maybe you're right, maybe not as big as Aaron Judge,
like the name the weight of the name.
Speaker 5 (01:47:11):
Let's say, But then Aaron Judge, like his name is
different too.
Speaker 2 (01:47:15):
Oh of course, I mean in the specimen that you
see is a specimen, Yes, he is.
Speaker 10 (01:47:21):
He is.
Speaker 6 (01:47:22):
He makes John Carlos.
Speaker 2 (01:47:23):
That look small and that's another specimen.
Speaker 3 (01:47:26):
Yes, yes, but like honestly, there's no other superstar like
Josh Allen.
Speaker 2 (01:47:34):
A lot of them people hate him, Joe Burrow, a
lot of peoplelayed him.
Speaker 12 (01:47:38):
Football players it is different than it's carry you know,
you were around, I mean you know them meta like
a personal level too, So like it's it's a little different.
But I feel like, yeah, with these these football players,
it's completely different.
Speaker 2 (01:47:51):
Because because it's the fandom.
Speaker 4 (01:47:53):
I mean they're not.
Speaker 12 (01:47:54):
Yeah, I mean they're not even in the media compared
to like baseball players and and NBA, I mean NBA
players at the top when it comes to being on
the media and doing all that stuff. But like, yeah,
I mean some people just hate like Joe Burrow.
Speaker 4 (01:48:06):
I hate him. I don't know why. I have no idea.
Speaker 2 (01:48:09):
I mean because division, maybe.
Speaker 5 (01:48:11):
No, because he's just looks something about the guy.
Speaker 4 (01:48:17):
He went to one super Bowl and now you take
you're the best.
Speaker 2 (01:48:19):
You can't teach swag.
Speaker 4 (01:48:20):
Some people have it, That's true.
Speaker 3 (01:48:22):
You can't teach it. Slag is not something you can teach. Kay,
and he's got it.
Speaker 4 (01:48:25):
He's got but that's why.
Speaker 2 (01:48:26):
People hate him.
Speaker 3 (01:48:27):
That is a big I understand that, like anyone anyone
who says I hate Joe Burrow.
Speaker 2 (01:48:31):
I'm like, I can see that. I don't hate the guy.
Speaker 4 (01:48:33):
I don't I don't hate him.
Speaker 2 (01:48:35):
I don't hate him either, but I can see that.
Speaker 3 (01:48:37):
But maybe you're right that NFL players fall under a
completely different category.
Speaker 2 (01:48:40):
And I don't know if it has to do with
the fandom that is the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:48:46):
That is, Yeah, that is.
Speaker 2 (01:48:47):
What it is.
Speaker 12 (01:48:47):
Yes, And there's the reason you don't bring your four
year old child to an NFL game.
Speaker 6 (01:48:51):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 5 (01:48:52):
And now with the with the with the world, with
the world going down the gambling pipeline as well.
Speaker 2 (01:48:57):
Yeah, that part too, that part too.
Speaker 6 (01:49:00):
Are not living up to their parlays.
Speaker 3 (01:49:01):
Well, listen, if you think there is a superstar out
there that is hated less than Aaron Judge can't tweet
at us, but I don't think you're gonna find one.
Speaker 2 (01:49:11):
Let's check in with Martin Weiss, the superstar that he is.
Speaker 3 (01:49:15):
Oh no, you don't want to talk to us, Jalen Brunson.
Speaker 2 (01:49:22):
Talking about but.
Speaker 12 (01:49:23):
He's also not on the same level as like these
other guys are talking about Audge. Aaron Judge is much
bigger than Jayalen.
Speaker 2 (01:49:30):
Bruce Way, bigger.
Speaker 3 (01:49:31):
Jalen Brunson is is a on the trajectory to be
the superstar.
Speaker 2 (01:49:35):
But even with his stardom, now, I do think he.
Speaker 4 (01:49:38):
Has haters and it's a recency bias thing.
Speaker 11 (01:49:42):
Yeah, just a single person besides maybe Becky Hammond who
is like Jalen Brunson.
Speaker 4 (01:49:47):
Can they think.
Speaker 5 (01:49:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:49:51):
No, like they think he goes for the foul and like.
Speaker 3 (01:49:53):
Some people are like he doesn't say anything, but it's
like they think he's mad, like I think he's People.
Speaker 4 (01:49:58):
Don't like his voice. Aaron Judge.
Speaker 2 (01:50:01):
I swear that you're just making that up. You don't
show up in a big game.
Speaker 11 (01:50:06):
How about that I'm supposed to hear about how great
this guy is.
Speaker 4 (01:50:09):
He's supposed to seriously, No, no, we're not talking about greatness, Martin.
We're talking about the most loved. I hate it.
Speaker 11 (01:50:16):
This is where this is where my hate comes in,
because I've been told by Apple Care and everybody else
that Aaron Judges, you know, the player of our times,
and I gotta watch him not cover from what the
bobble the ball in the outfitield and that he's not.
Speaker 2 (01:50:29):
The one who did not cover first. But you're right
that whole inning was bad.
Speaker 17 (01:50:35):
He did drop one of the outfield and he hit
his glove. So do you hate do you hate Mike Trout?
I don't care about Mike Trust. You shouldn't cared about Judge,
you know. I mean if I have to pick between
like or hey, I go, hey you you so.
Speaker 1 (01:50:49):
You have to pick?
Speaker 4 (01:50:50):
I don't care Judge. Okay, which is the biggest, bigger
problem in baseball.
Speaker 6 (01:50:55):
Actually I care about you know what?
Speaker 4 (01:50:57):
Okay, I'm here Tigers fans. Man. I do care about
Altani though it was like, you.
Speaker 11 (01:51:03):
Know, it's about the bottle lead to tell you got
every time I watched him, I think did he take
his over today?
Speaker 4 (01:51:16):
If he did, he's tracking for right now.
Speaker 11 (01:51:19):
I hope he took the under because he's got one
strakeout so far south of at Baseball, Yankees with a
one run lead, top of the second inning, try and
grish him up to bat Yama Moto on the mound.
Yankees got a run earlier today on an error. I'm
sorry on an RBI by just On Dominges the Twins
and the Mariners. Cal Rowley with his twenty third home
(01:51:40):
run leads the majors. You would have thought that was
Aaron Judges the way they talk about him.
Speaker 5 (01:51:44):
He got twenty now thing well three and nobody's talking
about it anyway. Got yeah, they're all like knocking, They're
all right around each other.
Speaker 11 (01:51:53):
That might be a one, two, three four down the line,
who's got the most home runs in Major League Earlier today,
Rangers beat the Cardinals eight to one, Red over Braves
three to one, Orioles Edge of the White Sox three
to two. White Sox have won eighteen games so far
this year. Just wait, there's more futility coming down the pipe.
Five to two, the Brewers over the Phillies, and Milwaukee's
won seventh straight.
Speaker 4 (01:52:12):
That Blue Jays double up the Athletics eight.
Speaker 11 (01:52:15):
To four, Guardians four to two over the Angels, the
Mets five to three over the Rockies.
Speaker 4 (01:52:20):
I told you more.
Speaker 11 (01:52:21):
Nine wins so far for the for the Rockies this season,
a round fifty losses, not a round a round number
five zero. San Francisco with a four to two win
over Miami Tigers.
Speaker 4 (01:52:33):
Edge of the Royals won the nothing.
Speaker 11 (01:52:35):
Same score for the Astros and the Rays Clubs with
a seven to three win over the Reds again, Kyle
Raley at twenty to twenty third homer today and the
Diamondbacks beat the Nationals three to one again Someday night
baseball going to the bottom of the second.
Speaker 4 (01:52:48):
And the Yankees with a one run lead in the
World Series. Rematch.
Speaker 10 (01:52:53):
Back to you guys.
Speaker 2 (01:52:53):
Thanks Marian.
Speaker 3 (01:52:54):

(01:54:06):
Shay Martin, you're all lifelines here for Carrie.
Speaker 2 (01:54:09):
Easy as one, two, three four.
Speaker 3 (01:54:10):
I kind of think this is hard, so five and
a half is my over under three All right, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:54:15):
Let's go quickly, okay.
Speaker 3 (01:54:17):
Name one of two teams with the best record in
the WNBA right now.
Speaker 4 (01:54:22):
The Liberty and.
Speaker 3 (01:54:27):
Yeah, Liberty, alright, correct, yes, show me Liberty.
Speaker 2 (01:54:30):
That's right. They're seven and oh and the Links are
six and oh.
Speaker 11 (01:54:33):
By the way, today the final score Liberty song.
Speaker 3 (01:54:37):
Yes, I saw that, so seven and oh both Liberty
and Links undefeated so far. Okay, since the first National
Football Championship in eighteen sixty nine, name two of the
three schools with the most college football national championships, like.
Speaker 6 (01:54:53):
I'd go like Yale at Harvard or right, give me.
Speaker 2 (01:54:56):
Two of the three, Sam, you can help at any time.
Speaker 11 (01:55:00):
You can go with the school that started football. What's
that University of Michigan. You mean Rutgers.
Speaker 15 (01:55:08):
We're saying we're asking for most national championships in college football?
Speaker 2 (01:55:11):
Yeah, since eighteen sixty nine.
Speaker 4 (01:55:14):
Are you using as a lifeline? Yes, yeah, Harvard Ary
one of those.
Speaker 10 (01:55:17):
You go with.
Speaker 15 (01:55:18):
Alabama, you can go with I mean, you can go
with Minnesota. They have a couple national championship. Are you
just talking about the top the most, the most the
most three? If we're going back all the way to
the eighteenth US started football?
Speaker 4 (01:55:32):
Yeah, right they did.
Speaker 15 (01:55:33):
The first game was like eighteen sixty three and Pists gataway. Okay,
that team finished US history lesson. I mean, I'll just
give you. I would say Alabama's probably in the top
three of Michigan, Notre Dame.
Speaker 2 (01:55:47):
Out of three we need to out of three.
Speaker 4 (01:55:49):
Yes, I think Alabama and Notre Dame would be good.
You think so those ones?
Speaker 6 (01:55:55):
Okay, let's go those.
Speaker 3 (01:55:57):
So you're gonna go Alabama and Notre Dame, let's go Okay,
So show me Alabama yes, coming in at number two
with sixteen and is it Notre Dame.
Speaker 2 (01:56:07):
Fourth overall, So they just didn't make the cut.
Speaker 3 (01:56:10):
They've won thirteen, Yale eighteen, Princeton fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:56:15):
You gotta go. Okay, moving out here.
Speaker 4 (01:56:20):
He said all the way back.
Speaker 2 (01:56:21):
This one is going to be a difficult one. So
go with your gut.
Speaker 3 (01:56:23):
Swell as three of the four active players in baseball
right now with the most doubles. Now, I'm not trying
to confuse you or trick you. So think of what's
happening right now.
Speaker 5 (01:56:33):
Maybe i'd say Will Smith is one of them.
Speaker 4 (01:56:38):
Or I know what's happening right now.
Speaker 2 (01:56:41):
We just think about it. I'm not trying to trick
right now.
Speaker 12 (01:56:43):
What's happening now, like the doors. Okay, that's what's happening.
Speaker 6 (01:56:47):
I said, Will Smith or Max Monthy one of those.
Speaker 12 (01:56:50):
I think it's TiO. I think it's TiO tioscar Hernandez.
Speaker 2 (01:56:54):
We'll run out of time.
Speaker 5 (01:56:55):
Pick I'm going to say Smith three or four myself, Okay,
who well, Oh, you said it's Vopi. Is Vopi one
of them?
Speaker 10 (01:57:04):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:57:06):
You said that's playing right now?
Speaker 6 (01:57:07):
Yeah, Paul, I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (01:57:10):
I think it's t O and Paul Goldmid.
Speaker 6 (01:57:14):
Well, I'll go one of I'll go which one?
Speaker 4 (01:57:16):
You said, which one do you want to go?
Speaker 6 (01:57:18):
Paul gold Schmid, Okay, I'll go gold Smith.
Speaker 2 (01:57:20):
Okay, And he won more.
Speaker 11 (01:57:23):
He's not in this game, but I think Bobby would
have at least third in the RBN doubles.
Speaker 6 (01:57:29):
Okay, I'll go with I'll go with Junior golds really.
Speaker 3 (01:57:32):
Good answers, and I knew this was going to be tough.
Show me Paul Goldschmidt. Yeah, coming in at number two,
four hundred and fifty nine. Is it Will Smith? And
is it Bobby Witt?
Speaker 8 (01:57:43):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:57:43):
But close ones, Freddie Freeman.
Speaker 3 (01:57:45):
Guys, Andrew McCutcheon and Jose I'll do it all right.
Speaker 4 (01:57:51):
This season, at all times would have picked Bobby.
Speaker 2 (01:57:53):
Players active players.
Speaker 3 (01:57:55):
Sorry, Okay, name four of the five teams that have
never reached the NBA Finals ever reached the NBA Finals
four or five?
Speaker 11 (01:58:04):
Charlotte, uh, the Washington Wizards.
Speaker 4 (01:58:11):
Wizards, haven't you already been used as a lifeline?
Speaker 2 (01:58:16):
They have not reached the finals.
Speaker 5 (01:58:18):
So the Pelicans, Okay, Pelicans, Charlotte Wizards, the Brooklyn Nets.
Speaker 11 (01:58:27):
Like the Brooklyn version of the Brooklyn net the New
Jersey still New Jersey.
Speaker 2 (01:58:32):
Okay, so you've given me Hornets, Pelicans, Wizards.
Speaker 5 (01:58:35):
