Happy birthday.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
Congratulations you've been Judge on his thirty third home run
of the season.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
Aaron Judge, all right.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
Congratulations to Brie.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
We're ancher for today in her first shift.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Brie, how did that feel? Easing?
Speaker 5 (00:34):
Just truly awkwardly incredibly amazing.
Speaker 2 (00:39):
Good minute, girl, and.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Welcome to the fun that we're about to have on
this Sunday. But I can't tell if the smile is
like I'm a couple of seconds away from tears or what.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
But I'm ready to run away and go back to
Orange County. Nice knowing you guys. That has been amazing,
incredible experience. Best of last love, Chris, can you please
move over?
Speaker 3 (01:01):
That's what There's a rat. But no, she's not going anywhere.
She's hanging out with us, just like Chris Purfett and
Shay our producer. As we dive into a lot this Sunday,
as we tend to do, Carrie, we like to put
too much on our list of things to discuss. But
we only get to sit here once a week typically,
you and I.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
You may sit with others, I may.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Sit with others, but you not only get to see
each other here on Sunday. So we're going to dive
into it. How has your Fourth of July been?
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Though?
Speaker 4 (01:28):
Very very quiet? You know how I like?
Speaker 6 (01:31):
I do know high end Like Saturday, I didn't even
leave the house, but you know, I got some good
barbecue in, I got the fireworks, I got everything everybody
else got out and about sure and the conforence of
my own place, yes, and I love it that way,
So it was good.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
How was yours?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
It was peaceful.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
You know where we live, they don't really do a
lot of fireworks, or they're not supposed to, right, so it's.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Not as bad.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
I worked with Dan Byer, our friend, and I went
home and played Resident Evil and Carrie.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
I'm not good, and it's it's hard for me to
not be good at something.
Speaker 4 (02:02):
I see it. I believe it, Like.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
I love video games, you do, I do, But I
cannot switch my guns fast enough when I'm being attacked
by a zombie. Like it's too many buttons.
Speaker 6 (02:14):
Okay, hold on, time out. Are the zombies slow or
are they world war Ze fast?
Speaker 2 (02:18):
They're not world war Ze fast. That's a good one.
Speaker 7 (02:22):
They always a resident evil is always awkward with its controls.
That's part of it.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
And you know, I've noticed that. So I'm trying. In fact,
here's what we started.
Speaker 8 (02:30):
Like how it gets you being it's the horror thing.
Speaker 7 (02:33):
It's like it makes you kind of like feel like
you're fumbling around half the time to like to really
like it stops you from being good at the game
by giving you awkward controls.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
I'm literally doing it a do get and I'm in
the wrong game, you know what here you guys, And
I'm like throwing guns left and right, and Sean is like, no,
if you hit here, you'll get a gun, but then
you need to reload the AMMO.
Speaker 8 (02:54):
And I'm like, oh, you've got a backseat driver too.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Wow, I've got so much going on, which is not
what I'm used to. And I do remember when I
was little back in the day, you guys remember Sega Dreamcast.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Dreamcast that was one of.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
The first systems that my parents were able to afford
and buy my brothers, and so I did play code
Veronica on the Dreamcast a little bit, and that one
was a lot of fun because there's a lot of
codes obviously, and like you, but this one, I'm just like,
I need a second.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Can these zombies give me a second?
Speaker 3 (03:26):
So what I'm learning is to run away from the zombies,
kill a space, reload, do all that.
Speaker 2 (03:31):
And then come to the action.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
So how far did you make it?
Speaker 9 (03:33):
Not?
Speaker 2 (03:33):
We did a couple?
Speaker 8 (03:34):
We did a couple.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
Sean had to save me a lot, you know, when
he had come in and like killed the zombie and
then you know, but he's he's real patient, and I
would not be as patient I went, you know, like
I remember playing like remember the on this on the
Wei the Super Mario, where like if you were playing
with somebody and you could make go in a bubble
(03:55):
to like survive and like float, and the other person continued,
if I played with somebody that how to just bubble?
I got this, just stay out of my way and bubble.
And I feel like Sean's been very kind and it's
not bubbling me. He's like letting me try and figure
it out. But too many guns, too many things, too
many strikeouts, not a thing. Let's dive into it this
past week. Clayton Kershaw carry, I was at the game.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
I knew you were. I wanted to go ahead.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
You should have texted me I was there.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
How, It's one of those moments that you just I'm
so grateful that I was a part of Every single
person sitting at Dodger Stadium was there to watch Kershaw
reach three thousand strikeouts. Honestly, I don't think the fans
cared about the win. It ended in a win. It
ended in a perfect You could not write the script
(04:45):
better for how that night went, but it almost.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Was too perfect. When he came out, he looked nervous. Carrie.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Every seat was filled to start the game because in
the rare, rare chance that he did it in the
first inning, right, you would have missed it. Most Dodger
fans aren't in their seats by the first inning, in
the rare chance that that happened. I looked up as
the game started in the reserve seats in the corners
by the lights were like nobody ever sits filled. Everybody
was in their seats. People were just waiting at the edge.
(05:14):
And did you watch the game? Did you watch your
n keep an eye on at Kershaw had two strikes
on so many players and then they would hit a
home run, a double, or a flyout. But even the flyout,
you heard the grunts in the stadium of like, oh no,
you know, one, two, three innings and he doesn't have
a strikeout, and you're like, is he gonna get it?
(05:37):
Gets to going into the sixth inning, he's high on
his pitches. Yeah, so you're wondering, are you you're gonna
come back out?
Speaker 2 (05:43):
You have to come back out, you need one more.
He comes back out for the sixth inning.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
Everybody rises to their feet, Come on, Kershaw, you got this.
And then to get it on the final out of
the inning made it perfect for that moment. To celebrate
that moment, It didn't feel like we're in fearing with
the game, you know, like sometimes this happens.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
I remember when I was at the WNBA game for.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
The Sparks against Mercury and Diana t Rossi broke the
scoring record and it.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
Was in the middle of the game and they like
stopped and it was like an awkward moment.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
This because it wasn't out to lead into the next inning.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
It was perfect or leading to the bottom of the inning.
It was perfect.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
They played this clip he waved out of everybody through
a kiss. I shed a tear, and I you know
what I thought when I sat there and shed a tear,
I said, if I feel.
Speaker 2 (06:29):
Like this right now, how am I going to feel
when the Clippers? If the Clippers get to the final?
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Always about the Clippers, That's what I guess.
Speaker 3 (06:37):
That is my biggest phantom right and I'm already I like,
shed a tear. I was like, oh, I got kershaw
And I was like, man, if the Clippers were what
I get to the finals, I'm going to be a mess.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
I am going to be a hot mess. But I
was there.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
I was so grateful to be able to be there.
But a really historic moment.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
Yeah no, you said it right though.
Speaker 6 (06:57):
I mean with it being the final out of any
and allowing that moment to breathe like, really give him
his due, his appreciation, but also, like you said, not
really interrupt the floor of the game, even though you're
done with that, and that's part of the night, that's
the main reason for the night.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Absolutely.
Speaker 6 (07:15):
But then now it's like, okay, now that's out the way,
he can go sit down and we can actually go
win this game. Because it felt like all of the
Dodgers were caring about that moment absolutely set of the game.
And so once he was able to exit, and then
you know they can shift the focus to actually playing
baseball and winning the game.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
They came through in the clutch and in want in
the ninth and it wouldn't.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Have mattered, right, Like, it didn't matter if the Dodgers
want or not, but they did. Freddie Freeman walks it off.
And people have been talking about this all week. Are
you on the side that like, we're probably never going
to see this again? Or are you on the side,
well why not?
Speaker 2 (07:49):
I mean it was already rare as it.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Was, it could happen again, but because of the way
pictures are, you know what I mean, Kirshall's eighteen years
in eighteen years, so like this may be really I
think the last time we see this.
Speaker 6 (08:01):
Well I mean yeah, I mean you see the crop
that are that's coming up right now.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Obviously you know one that you with one that.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
Were out there would be a Skins or a school ball,
right like those type of names. But it's just rare.
Obviously it's rare. It doesn't happen a lot. And so
to say it's gonna happen again. You can't, but I'll
never say never. The records are meant to be broken
in broken.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
But so much has to go right. For Paul Skins
in his very early career, he could absolutely do it.
Just so much still has to go right. But one
thing that I feel like I want to really shine
credit or give credit to are the Chicago White Sox.
I'm sure here in La everybody heard the call from
a five to seventy LA Sports.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Here the Chicago call Kurshaw.
Speaker 8 (08:48):
Strike three.
Speaker 10 (08:51):
Oh, put up the velvet rope and let him in.
Clayton Kershaw, there's now the twentieth member of a three
thousand strike out club and less so exclusive. We may
never see a moment like this again.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Wow, thank you to the Chicago White Sox for handling
that like an absolute pro I will say, maybe even
better than a five to seventies coverage of it.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
I'm not gonna lie. They let it breathe too much.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
This guy open the velvet ropes like exclusive club, like
all of the things you.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Want to hear. I know you want to let it breathe,
but this is such a rare.
Speaker 6 (09:27):
Moment, and you're right and it's hard because he ate
what is the AM five fifty five seventy AM five
seventy would be doing it justice by letting it breathe
as well. And so the combination the fact that both
covered it the way they did.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
It's great.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
With the White Sox being an active participant in it
as well, it's beautiful.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Yeah, I feel like nobody gave them credit in that sense.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Also at the end on their Twitter play, on their
Twitter page, you know how the teams put the final score,
so they put final Kershaw reaches three thousand strikeouts.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Yeah, way to go, oh, White Sox.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
And even more so, why I bring this up is
because a month ago, maybe people didn't catch this, Dodgers
and the Cardinals were playing in Saint Louis. The Cardinals
decided to play a video of twenty Fourteen's and LDS
where Matt Adams hit a three run shot off of
Clayton Kershaw to win it. They go onto the next
round and Kershaw was on the mound that day, and
(10:22):
I felt like that was so disrespectful to I get
what you're trying to do, but Clayton Kershaw is an
eighteen year member of the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
He's going into the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
He is one of the lasting, the last breeds of
this type of position.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
And you went and started the game like that.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
It didn't go well because the Dodgers ended up winning,
But you have the Cardinals who did that, and then
you have the White Sox who handled this moment.
Speaker 6 (10:46):
You know what's funny about what you're saying right now?
The Cardinals are very competitive, they are, and they're in
the hut mm hm and they want to beat the Dodgers, sure,
where the White Sox are kind of just active for sure,
So I could see it being a little different there,
go ahead, But.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
I guess it's like, where's a that was disrespect to
a player who's been in the league too long? If
you would have done I'm just throwing this out there.
Let's say you put a video of Dustin May out there,
nobody would have been as tick like you rubbed people
the wrong way, And I think they rubbed Cardinals fans
the wrong way, like, do not start the game like that?
Speaker 2 (11:22):
What are you talking about? And I guess it wasn't expected.
You expect it from the Padres.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Of course, remember last year they put the crying meme
of Kershaw after they beat us at Petco Park.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
I'm not surprised about that.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I laughed because it was funny but also rude and also, yes,
you did it because we don't like each other. All
of that makes sense. I didn't understand the Cardinal's side
of doing this. I didn't get it. It was just
kind of like, you beat Kershaw on twenty fourteen. I
get that, but like, what a Kershaw do you? Chris
was such a cool guy, Like there's no you know
what I'm saying, Like you don't hear about him.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
He's a family dude and like whatever.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
But I just really appreciated how the White Sox handled
that moment, and now Kershaw can kind of just maybe
Kershaw gets a lot of slander, you know, for what
he does in the postseason or lack of. But in reality,
if you go back to twenty seventeen, which I'm not
trying to do that, he had a great game one
against the Astros, I think he gave up like a
(12:19):
couple of hits, went seven Indianes. He had a great
game one that we won, and then we end up
losing that series. We later find out that the Astros,
you know, cheated and whatnot. And if the Dodgers would
have won that championship, the Kershaw slander I don't think
would be an effect the way it is.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
Yeah, the Kershaw slander is welcome and warranted, warranted for
he's what he's done in the playoffs. But that's I
think that's very fair to say. But this is the
regular season. It is this is a regular season thing.
This is something that has accumulated over eighteen great seasons
of being a top tier pitcher in baseball. Like, recognize
that the playoffs you can push to the side for
(12:55):
a bit for.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
This moment exactly, and it's exactly right and after everything
and again I'm Dodger fans, was a little bit different, right,
but knowing the injuries that he went through last season,
like there really was a moment where you didn't know
if he was going to get there and you didn't
know where he was going to do this year. He
had a slow rough start. Me again, eighteen years, tons
of injuries. We joke, it's like the toe, the back,
(13:16):
the arm, there's like five things that are operation.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
It's operation when it comes to Clan Kershaw. And for
him to get it, you just on it.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
There was a moment not in the game, but in
the season early on where you're like, is he gonna
get there?
Speaker 2 (13:28):
And he got there and.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
He's undefeated still, right? Is he still undefeated or.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Which is crazy also as well that he's like undefeated
and you have Paul Skins who can't get a win
by his team. But it's done, it's over now, Kershaw Cana,
you know, maybe hang it up, because I do think
Kershaw would hang it up without announcing.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
That he's that guy.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 6 (13:50):
It's funny about what we said talking about right now,
and you're saying the way the White Sox handled that
situation with all class and really pumped up the moment
elevated the moment even more. I gotta get your Clippers
credit for doing the same thing for Dirk in his
final season.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
Do you remember that?
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (14:04):
I do, Doc? Didn't they During the time out, Doc
got on the mic and told all the fans to
stand up and this is Dirk Naviisky, one of the
best players ever played a game, and gave him that moment.
Speaker 6 (14:15):
It's the same thing. It's class, it's warns, it's something
that you should do for the greats when they go.
Speaker 2 (14:20):
Out exactly exactly.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
And I hope I'm wrong, but I really do think
he wouldn't tell anybody.
Speaker 2 (14:25):
Then you would just hang it up. And this is it.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
It's like you don't know when you're going to see
the end of his career. I think maybe he does
do a farewell tour, but I don't think so. Dodgers
in the World Series last year against your Yankees, Dodgers
doing pretty well.
Speaker 2 (14:38):
How are the Yankees doing?
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Why don't we talk about that on the other side
so you can get your thoughts together, because there's a
lot we're going to dive into. Don't go anywhere. This
is Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 8 (14:48):
Do listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
What's up, everybody? Happy Fourth of July.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Weekend Sunday festivities, probably wrapping up. I hope so, I
hope so, because I really hate those fireworks.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
At four in the morning, I heard again, right, No,
we're here for a little bit longer.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
I am Monci Bilanos alongside former All Pro safety Carry Rhodes,
diving into a little bit more baseball.
Speaker 2 (15:40):
And I'm sure our.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
Update anchor Brionna Muro will tell us more about the
All Star reserves, but I will tell you Clinton Kershaw
has been selected by Commissioner Rob Manfred as his legend picked.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
And yes, that makes perfect sense.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
Man. This is very parallel to Dark to Dark.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
I know because he was also selected altt with right, yep,
they put them in and he didn't announce that he
was going to retire. You didn't announce that he stop it.
I didn't think of that as well. I didn't think
about Okay, let's stop talking about the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
Let's talk about your Yankees, Kirie, talk about Kersher a
little bit more.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Oh no, no, no, no, no, let's chat with the yank
you know, heading into All Star Break, the Yankees as
a team that I also keep.
Speaker 2 (16:26):
An eye on.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
You know, I'm a big Derek Jeter fan, so I
have a special spot for the Yankees. But watching them
play this year has been very up and down, very
very up and down. Right ending the World Series the
way they did not ideal, you know, because it just
seemed like they had it at moments and it just
slipped out of their hands. I do think the Dodgers
(16:49):
were the better team. I do think that, but the
better team doesn't necessarily win in baseball, right, So, like
they had moments and they just kind of it felt
like it slipped through their hands. Watching them up and
down this season. Aaron Judge thirty third home run this season.
Today they avoid the sweep against the Mats, So that's good.
But do you see this as a slump? Are you
(17:11):
confident coming out of the All Star break? Yankees need
to make some moves, you know what.
Speaker 6 (17:18):
I am not confident, No, no, no, but I will
say this. You just hit it on You hit the
nail on the head, right, Like It's been an up
and down season for them anyway, and so they go
on these hot streaks and they can win ten in
a row easily, and they can lose seven in the
row easily, which they just did.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
And I think twice in a matter of like of weeks.
Speaker 4 (17:36):
It's tough, but any team with Judge Stanton and those
and the crew, they have a shot. So they have
a shot.
Speaker 6 (17:46):
You address something about trades, and I know there's been
a lot of chatter, a lot of talk about upgrade in.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
The third base position.
Speaker 6 (17:53):
Obviously Jazz is playing third right now when he's healthy,
and that's not his natural position.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
He's a second baseman.
Speaker 6 (17:59):
But they have Vopie, who was supposed to come in
and be, you know, the replacement that the next Derek Jeter,
right that was his that was supposed to be a Silling. Mmm,
nobody's going to be Jeter, but you know, that was
their their hope. He's just been so inconsistent, and I
think that's kind of why the team has been inconsistent.
That middle of the heart, that middle of the lineup,
that middle position has to be solid, and he's been
(18:20):
up and down.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
And I think that's where the silver lining is here
where I know you're not confident, but there the reasons
these problems are for the Yankees right now, you hit it,
Jazz Chisholm should be at second base, but you want
to play DJ Lemayhew.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Because that hasn't been bad.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
The problem is that John Carlo Stanton came back as
a DH and so you have good players, you just
can't seem to put them in the right spot because
you want to use le Mayhew. You want to keep
Bold Schmidt at first base because he's also been solid,
Jason Domingez has.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Your outfield is good. The outfield is good.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
It just seems like the third base is the issue
because you want to play DJ lem and you want
his bat. I think it's just figuring it out. But
I don't think Jazz Chislm going to third base was
the right move. And I say this because I hate
it that the Dodgers put Mookie Bets at shortstop. I
hated that move and they had to deal with the
(19:16):
same thing. It was like, we have a lot of talent,
so we have to shift around, and Muki has had
good moments and he's had bad moments.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
For the most part, I would say he's feeling he's
feeling it out.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
Pretty good right being at shortstop, but it took a
dip in his hitting, and so I want to just.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Yell at the Yankees and be like, don't figure it
out some other way.
Speaker 3 (19:35):
Put jazz chism back at second base. That's where he thrives,
that's where he's an All Star.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Let him be there.
Speaker 4 (19:42):
Yeah, it's hard. You just said it. They have so
many They have so many guys that can play good. Yeah,
I can play right. That's a that's usually a good
problem to have. But when you're the manager, all the
onus is on you and you have to figure it out.
And Boone's been on the hot seat for about four years.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
That's what it feels. It feels like you either hate
him or you are the same thing with Dave.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
Roberts, honesty, and that's it's it falls in line with
the same thing.
Speaker 6 (20:08):
They both have so much talent. So if that's the case,
we've done everything that we can to assure you that
you having the guys.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
To figure this thing out. You got to figure this
thing out.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
You gotta put the thing is like, you can't blame
Aaron Boone. You got to your front off. You didn't
have a third basement last year, Like this was the
thing already. So it's like and ala, oh we want
Nolan at an al y everybody does. But also like
he's older, get somebody else, like everyone's.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Looking for Nolan. I just I don't I Aaron Boone hate.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
I just like I'm like guys like the three the
third basement issue has been for a minute. It's not
Aaron Boone's fault about that. I don't And the same
thing with like Dave Roberts, I'm like, he gets high.
I don't think he's the reason either. I feel like
managers their job is to keep peace.
Speaker 6 (20:52):
Yeah, right, that's what that's it's about, keeping peace, keep
in locker room, you know, smooth and operating at a
high level. But you got to make tough decisions too.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
Yes.
Speaker 6 (21:01):
Volpi is a young guy who when he's right, is
really good. Yes, But when he's not, he's just out
there and so I'm not and I'm not even joking.
He's just out there down. He's out there getting cardio
and so and not much cardio because it's baseball, not
like basketball. But but no, no, no, like really though,
Boone is a in a situation where it's it's a
(21:24):
lose lose situation.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
Anyway, if he wins a World Series, he's supposed to.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
If he's not, he's a failure. And so you know,
Boone has so much history with that team.
Speaker 6 (21:33):
He's come up big as a player, and so like,
you have all this cachet, but the cache is going
to run out and the fans. I know, the one
thing the fans complain about when they talk about the
Yankees a lot is his lineups.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
And so that's another part of this thing too.
Speaker 6 (21:47):
When you have the talent that he has, he has
to figure out the right recipe to get them all
in the right groove at the right time.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
And he's trying to figure that out.
Speaker 3 (21:55):
It's like there's talent, but it's like spread out and
maybe it is Anthony Volpi that needs to Maybe I
don't all go get a breath of fresh air for
a hot second somewhere else, because he literally hit Aaron
Judge in the heady astr.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
Oh you said that. You know, it's funny.
Speaker 6 (22:08):
I saw that I was watching the game at that
time yesterday and they were coming back from the time
now and Judge a little bendate on this.
Speaker 4 (22:16):
I was like, what happened?
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Yeah, poor Aaron Judge coming back ending the inning, he's
running into infield. Here comes a ball that Anthony Volpi
has thrown at him, hits his glasses. His glasses look
like you could see them fall off, and he has
a little band aid.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Anthony Wolpe get it together.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
Said, I'm leaving here with something.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
I believe you know something.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
I'm walking I'm walking out injuring Aaron Judge. I. Yeah,
maybe he's the one who needs a change of pace somehow,
but I think once you figure out your third base
situation or just me, I guess Jazz Chisholm, if you're
gonna keep him there, I just a'm like, he is
your star, second basement.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
Put him there.
Speaker 6 (22:53):
Yeah, it's MANSI you're right, but I don't think it's
that just that one move. I think it is a
huge major move for them. But he has to figure
out the lineup too, and especially with Stanton back right now,
you really.
Speaker 4 (23:07):
Because because you said it, Goldsmith has.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Played really well, right you don't want to move him.
Speaker 6 (23:11):
Le Mayhew's playing really well right now, and so like
like just that order that that order needs to be
shaken up a little.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Bit a little bit, all right, Well, listen, There's still
a lot of baseball to go. It is approaching the
All Star break, so there there is hope for the Yankees.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
There is hope. It's not it's not that bad. It's
just bad because it's thinking.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
You're just saying that because I'm here with you right.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Now, Sion, thank you. I appreciate it, Gay.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
A little patt in the back. I needed it because
I knew this was coming today.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Thirty three home runs, Aaron Judge, let's go so what, so.
Speaker 11 (23:46):
What?
Speaker 2 (23:47):
That's a great song. Let's see what else is happening
though in baseball? Why don't we check in with our
news anchor Bree.
Speaker 5 (23:56):
My best see Hi guys, Hi agree.
Speaker 2 (24:00):
That's up. You know, just how do you feel about
the Yankees? You know?
Speaker 5 (24:03):
I was actually did you guys see that Cody Balanser playing?
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Yes, that was incredible. He's been playing really well too.
Speaker 5 (24:09):
Sorry, they had a thirty percent probability chance of him
catching that ball.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
That's wild. He has been I miss him in I'm
Dodger Blue in Dodger Blue.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
So yeah, he's another one, another good player that you
have that you're like, how do we fit this all in?
It's like you have a bunch of guys that are
good at at a lot of things, but only a
few that.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Are experts at certain positions, and that could cause some problem.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
That's because of Boone and his order. Like that is
the who's the Yankees leadoff fielder? Right now? It's been
thirteen of them?
Speaker 2 (24:38):
Right, I was like, Jason Domingo's no, he's nine. I
think sometimes he.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
Comes in nine and then I see, yes, yesterday was Goldsmith?
Speaker 1 (24:45):
Come on? Like why is he? Why is he?
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Why is the leadoff matter?
Speaker 2 (24:48):
All right?
Speaker 4 (24:48):
Sorry?
Speaker 2 (24:48):
Ray b tell Us, I know it on? All right?
Speaker 5 (24:51):
Well, yeah, so the Yankees obviously they avoided the sweep,
and they also stopped a six game skid. They beat
the Mets six to four in the Subway Series. The
Blue Jays have one eight in a row after they
beat the Angels three to two. The Phillies the top
of the Reds three to one. Currently right now, the
Ashtros and Dodgers are tied up.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Going into the sixth inning. Clayton Kershaw, you guys, did
you see that he.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
Was selected to eleventh All Star right as a legacy pick?
Speaker 2 (25:17):
Is that what I think?
Speaker 3 (25:18):
That's what Rob manings like, Yeah, like a legend pick.
Speaker 8 (25:21):
Yeah, a legend.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Yeah, so that's really exciting. He should yes.
Speaker 5 (25:24):
Also, I don't know if you guys saw Dave Robert
said to Oscar Hernandez is going through a foot scans
after he got hurt in last night scheme.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
So we're waiting to hear back on that.
Speaker 5 (25:35):
The Royals are leading the Diamondbacks four zero top of
the sixth, the Rockies are on top of the White
Sox six to four, and it's still scoreless between the
Pirates and Mariners bottom of the fifth. There there is
a rain delay in the Cubs and Cardinals games.
Speaker 3 (25:50):
All right, guys, back to you, thank you agree. You
are listening to Fox Sports Sunday. I am Wantzi Bilanos
alongside former All Pro safety Carrey Roads.
Speaker 4 (25:58):

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Carrie, we are so close, not really, but I feel it.
NFL season almost here. It is almost here, and I
don't know if I am just.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
I don't know what it is, but I am very
much looking forward to what Justin Fields is gonna do
this here. I feel like he has been dealt some
bad hands, right. And I don't know if I'm silly
in thinking that the potential is still there and that
we actually haven't seen it and that he is what
(26:48):
he is, but I just truly feel like he has
been dealt some unfortunate hands.
Speaker 6 (26:54):
You have the nail on the head again with that one.
I mean, Phil's is super uber talented. I feel even
last year with the Steelers, I called it. I was
during our show Me and Dan Show on Sunday that
we hosted during the during the season last year, we
were we didn't see eye to eye on who should
be the Steelers quarterback, and I told him leave Justin
(27:16):
Fields In the reason that people wanted to take him
out was that he wasn't throwing the ball downfield, but
that was part of the game plan. They wanted to
get the ball out of his hands quickly so that
so they can minimize his mistakes and kind of handcuff them.
But what you just spoke about, you have to let
this man loose. You gotta let him go, let him
be able to play, because this is the thing, we
(27:39):
still don't know who he is as a player, and
I want to see that.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
Unleash him, let him do it. He can throw the ball,
he can make plays with his feet as well.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
Let's let's see what we have in him, because I
believe in him. I think he can get the job done.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
You know, we believe in him.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
I also think Sauce Gardner believes in Justin fields he.
Speaker 12 (27:58):
Really been in like trying to make those those type
of throws, Like he made a few throws and OTA's.
Speaker 13 (28:05):
That I'm like, yo, I did not know he was
capable of making this throw because it's only a certain
a certain amount of quarterbacks that can make I'm talking
about this grows on like Aaron's typer level, like when
it comes to like being able to squeeze those girls
in there.
Speaker 9 (28:18):
I always thought Aaron.
Speaker 12 (28:19):
Was like the best when it came to that, and
it's like Justin then made a few throws where I'm like, Okay,
he really been in the lab for I could just
I could just tell.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
That was Sus Gardner.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
This week with Pat McAfee, The Pat McAfee show, and
I when I heard that, I was like, I know
it's OTA's and I know he's your quarterback and you
have to say positive things, but I believe it. I
believe that there is a different side to justin fields
that we have not seen, and you know, just to
have a young O line, Like has he ever played
(28:50):
behind a really good O line?
Speaker 2 (28:52):
I know the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
Were okay, right, okay, but nothing spectacular.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
We know with the Bear, Chicago didn't care what they
put around him, and so.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
I feel like with the Jets, you have a young
oline that you might actually be able to do some
damage back there.
Speaker 6 (29:09):
This is his best situation he's been in talent the line.
If he fails this year, it will be on him.
And that's all I want to see. Every other stop
he's been that, we've been able to make an excuse
for him, even though people haven't. I think generally I have.
(29:31):
I think you have as well, because you think he's
got more to offer, and he has some of us
that believe in him that way, right, we want to
see it.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
This is his chance.
Speaker 6 (29:41):
He's on the team that people don't expect much from
and I'm.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
Here to tell you right now. They will be better
than people think they are.
Speaker 5 (29:49):
Now.
Speaker 6 (29:49):
I'm not making any bold poculamations just yet. You will
get to that. Yeah, but they will surprise him this year.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Yeah, I am with you.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
You know, the questions around Justin Fields have always been like, oh,
he takes too long to process. He maybe bails out
of the pocket a little early, or he's laid on reads.
But it's just like he hasn't been in a situation
where he can thrive like that, where he can actually
get better. You've got to be able to surround him
(30:17):
with help, a little bit of help so that he
can grow.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
And I don't know if he's had a chance to grow.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
This could be a quote unquote breakout year Justin Field.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Come on, Justin come on, let's get it done please.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
I do also agree with you that if he does
not perform this year, then maybe you and I have
to adjust our perception with Justin Field.
Speaker 6 (30:39):
Yeah, we can just say he didn't meet those expectations,
because I don't think that's still a fault of his
as far as his talent goes. The talent's there and
we can I can see that if he fails, though,
this will be on him, and they got.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
To put it on him, and that's it. All these
other failures we haven't put it on him.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
Now it is going to be on him. But we're
looking forward to a little just in Fields. Well, you know, Carrie,
when Plan ABC and D don't work, you gotta go
to Plan FE.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
What is that? We'll talk about it on the other side.
This is Fox Sports Sunday. Don't go anywhere.

Oh, you're getting jiggy with it over here? What's up?
Speaker 3 (31:26):
Everybody? Happy Sunday? Thanks for tuning in to Fox Sports Radio.
I am Montie Blanos alongside former All Pro safety Carrie Roads,
hanging out with you as we wrap up this fourth
of July weekend. We hope you're all being safe out
there enjoining maybe your last cocktail.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
You know what, Yes, you just hit something.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (31:47):
I hope they were safe out there this past weekend.
You always realize this time of year, every year there's
a story with somebody blowing on their hand, Like how
many times we have to hear or see about this
before you understand that fireworks are unprepectable. They do not
go off every time the wick runs down into the
(32:09):
into the firework.
Speaker 4 (32:10):
It's unpredictable.
Speaker 7 (32:12):
I was in with Doug Gottlieb on July fourth, and
I asked him, It's like, is this a time where
like every every coach in America is like, this is
the time where you're calling everyone and telling everyone to
stay safe. It's like, yeah, everyone's done the stay away
from fireworks talk.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
Of course, of course I'm not gonna lie though.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
If if you're listening and there is a video of
somebody playing with the firework and it's funny, send it
to me.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
Well, I got you.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
I just like, how can.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
Like you said, it's none of this is new. These
fireworks are not new. They're exactly the same every single year. Yes,
and so maybe don't be near it as it's about
to explode, don't wait till the last time, don't wait
to the last second.
Speaker 2 (32:50):
Run away, you can Run's part. That's fun in a way,
you know, you just play with the sparkler. Okay, just that.
But if you do have a video, please send this
maybe because I do find those funny. I find that funny,
and I find people falling and.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
Tripping funny, Like if you fall and I cannot not laugh,
I can't.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
I can't. When I fall, I laughed. Yeah, you know, I.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
Hope somebody's I hope somebody catches video and me when
I fall, I think it's funny.
Speaker 4 (33:15):
What about I set up a little booby trapping here
and catch you if you please.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
I think it's I can't help it. I just when
I when I fall.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
You know what I'm saying, As long as I like
break anything, but you can never tell if so it
wasn't broken something, but falling, it's funny to me.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
I can't help it. I can't help it.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
I also find what the Knicks are doing very funny.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
Yes, So this past week, details came out to the
New York Knicks. I have found their their coach. They
went through options A, B, C, and D and E
landed on F.
Speaker 4 (33:41):
I think, oh, I think it's g you think's and
you're laughing, but I'm gonna I'll tell you why. I
go ahead.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
It is.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
I mean, how many stories did we hear that they
didn't get the permission to speak to a coach This
and that they decide I did on Mike Brown a
four year, forty million dollar deal.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Nice, yeah, no, good for I mean, listen, Mike Brown.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
I I think he's like, sure, what are you talking about?
I coached the Lakers and literally was destroyed on social media.
Speaker 2 (34:15):
Couldn't it can't? Maybe it can be worse because it's
Madison square Garden.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
I forgot about that.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
But remember that, so like, yes, the Lakers, he coached
the Lakers how many.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
Money in season tournament? And then they fired him?
Speaker 4 (34:25):
Oh that was that was the in season tournament?
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Yeah, he was the insistant tournament who and then they
fired him.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
Okay, man, that's crazy, that's I'm wrong that no.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Right, it was Darvin Ham with the in season tournament
as a coach of the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Oh d yes, Oh.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
Yeah, I was sorry. I'm tripping Darvin Darbenham, I am tripping.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
But Mike Brown, I'm thinking he got a lot of hate.
Speaker 8 (34:50):
Mike Brown succeeded Phil Jackson.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
Succeeded Phil Jackson, thank you, thank you. So he was there,
but I got the wrong memes in my head. I
did get the wrong memes in my head of that,
and and then Mike Brown went to Sacramento, Yes, and
I feel like he just has always had a bit
of a dark cloud because of his Lakers ten years.
It's a Laker like, you know, and so I feel
like he could step into this and be okay with
(35:15):
any negative criticism that's gonna come his way, because we've
talked about going into this position, you are expected to win, yeah,
and I mean when the Eastern Conference Finals, yes, right, Like,
this is a tough job to take, but I feel
like he has been through a lot of tough that
(35:36):
he's probably like, all right, I'll take the money and
I'll take the criticism, right, But I don't know if
this guy is really going to give the push that
the Knicks need.
Speaker 6 (35:44):
Say this is this is the thing. This is why
I say, g it's a It's a good hire for them.
It's not the best, it's not it's not what anybody.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
Thought I saw. Yes, ever, right, but it's a good hire.
Right now.
Speaker 6 (36:01):
If you're gonna fire Thibadeaux, which we know they should
not have done, you have to bring in the guy,
a veteran guy, a guy who's got cachet with players
in this league. He's coached a lot of great players, individually.
He had Lebron in Cleveland, he's had dearon Fox and Sacramento.
He's had other really good players. He does a great
job of going in and getting the culture that he
(36:24):
wants with that team, the organization right away. He's really
good at that. This team with the Knicks, you just
said it. They have to win now. They have veteran guys,
they have talented guys that can get the job done.
They're in the East right now, where it's wide open.
He goes into that situation, gets the best out of
Bronson and those stars pretty much.
Speaker 4 (36:45):
Is kind of like if he's just on par with Thibodeaux,
I think they still can win the East with Mike
Brown being the guy, and he'll finally be able to
get some flowers because what he did in Sacramento, right
he Sacramento didn't make the playoffs for one hundred years.
He comes in gets that team to the playoffs. Like
the Beam, it was fun, it was exciting, and with
(37:07):
all his tenures, that drop off comes really quickly. So
if he's able to go in there and win this
thing in this first year, he's not gonna not champion,
but make it to the finals.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
That's what he has to do.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
That's a win.
Speaker 6 (37:18):
And I think you won't we won't be talking about
this in the same breath that I think most of
the nation is speaking about it being a terrible higher.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
I don't even I don't even know if it's a
terrible higher.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
It's it's like, he's fine, But why did you fire Tibbuteaux?
Speaker 4 (37:34):
That's stuff?
Speaker 2 (37:35):
This is fine?
Speaker 3 (37:36):
I stand like, yes, he had a lot of he
had a dark cloud over him because of the Lakers,
went to Sacramento and did do well, but Sacramento.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
So it's like, okay, how much are we really putting
on that run?
Speaker 4 (37:49):
Right?
Speaker 5 (37:49):
Right?
Speaker 3 (37:50):
And so I just a'm like, this is this is
what you fired Tom Thibodeaux for. And isn't also Mike
Brown a quote unquote hard headed coach?
Speaker 14 (37:59):
Also he also is not flexible, you know, Like, I'm
surprised because I thought you were going for flexibility here
and not with the guy.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
That sticks to his guns and his roster and this
is what he likes.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
Well, he will play more than five and a half people,
So there is some flexibility there, sure, sure, but.
Speaker 2 (38:22):
Right he's he's a hard headed guys.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
What we've heard about him, and so I just I
feel like we literally just took a lateral step. Yes,
I agree with a lateral step, and you're lucky that
the Knicks do you already have a really good roster.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Exactly that you can get there.
Speaker 3 (38:37):
I feel like you could have put anyone and still
had a successful season.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
And this is why we talked about this, you said,
I think you said this, but there must have been
something underneath the surface about it we don't.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
Know about as to why you made this decision so quickly.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
That's where we were, like, I guess if you would
have announced this later, maybe you thought about it that
you didn't want to work with Tom Thibodeau moving forward.
But it just seemed like it came out of nowhere.
It seemed like you could have taken a day to
think about it and have a cocktail, as I said.
But that's why, that's why I feel like there's something
we don't know. It came out of nowhere, out of
left field, and now you've made a lateral step, like
you didn't have a plan to actually get a coach
(39:14):
that you think can take you deeper. Cause it's like,
what aside from using more of your roster. Any coach
could do that and that's not coaching, that is just
let's play the roster.
Speaker 4 (39:27):
I I don't know.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
That's why I said. That's why I said, g G.
It's it's good or god awful.
Speaker 3 (39:40):
It's just funny because Jeff Tigue on his podcast, he
just kind of was like, nobody really likes Mike Brown,
Like I feel bad. That is kind of like people
are like, eh, Mike Brown, Like people don't like Mike Brown.
But it's like, do you not like him just because
of the Lakers?
Speaker 2 (39:56):
You know, tenure?
Speaker 3 (39:57):
And then he went on to the Kings and the
Kings are just kind of like an aff because they're
not a big market.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
What is it?
Speaker 4 (40:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Or is he just what he is?
Speaker 4 (40:04):
I think he is what he is an average good coach.
I think so.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
Well, the Niggs decided to go from one good coach
to another good coach, but not really make a step
into I think a great coach.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
Unfortunately.
Speaker 3 (40:18):
Well, we'll see what the Knicks do, But what about
the Steelers. We'll talk about that next year on Fox
Sports Sunday.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
What's Up?
Speaker 3 (40:25):
Everybody Happy Sunday? Wrapping up this fourth of July weekend
with my friend former a former All Pro safety Carrie Rhodes,
as we dive into a little NFL Carrie, well, oh
my god, I got serious.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
No, No, I've gotten to the point now. It's like,
can you just just call me all pro? Carry I'm
gonna call you all pro Monty, Okay, we can make
it rock that way.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Yeah, I'm gonna call you that, just jackus all pro.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
I'm not having to say a alpro ay all.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Well, then we got all pro, all pro.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
In NFL News this a week, we've talked a lot
about the Steelers carried throughout this off season, wondering why
they patiently waited for Aaron Rodgers. I wondered that, Yeah,
you know, I wondered that, But they they did, and
this week they made they made some moves.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
They really seemed to be quote unquote going.
Speaker 3 (41:32):
All in right, like they're trying here and as if
you're a Steelers fan, you have to appreciate that that
you your team is trying. But these moves, I've got questions,
and aside from Aaron Rodgers, like it's just outside of
Aaron Rodgers. But this week a trade was made where
now the Steelers have acquired Jalen Ramsey, John hus Smith,
Minka Fitzpatrick heads back to Miami.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
Yep, and I have questions.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
All right, Okay, so Jalen rams you know, is the
reports he's a little bit of a diva, right, Like
those are reports that in Miami he's late to practice.
Speaker 8 (42:07):
A big diva.
Speaker 3 (42:10):
Dim I was, okay, yes, right, Jayleen Ramsey is a diva.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Those are the reports he's late to practice.
Speaker 3 (42:18):
He's gotten into it a few times apparently with McDaniel, Like, yeah,
there's reports of that that he's he's a diva.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
Okay? Uh?
Speaker 3 (42:26):
And you add John new Smith, who I know had
a great season for the Dolphins. But did he have
a great season because he had a great season or
is it just because someone.
Speaker 2 (42:34):
Had to have a great season? You go, I'm not
trying to diss I'm just wondering is one or the other?
Speaker 10 (42:40):
Right?
Speaker 3 (42:40):
Like who else was going to catch the ball with
all the injuries that they were going through, who was
going to do it? Somebody had to get the yards
and he got them.
Speaker 2 (42:47):
Happy for him? So now he they move over they
head to Pittsburgh. How do you like this move?
Speaker 1 (42:54):
Well?
Speaker 6 (42:54):
The Smith when I like because it makes him a
little bit more dynamic. They can go out and run
two tight end offense because Frian Mouth is the main
guy there.
Speaker 4 (43:02):
So so again, so it's they're not asking John to
be the guy. They'll be able to be a little
bit more versatile in their their offensive attack, which I
do like. So I like that one, and I actually
like the Ramsey one. You and I know this is
the thing.
Speaker 6 (43:17):
So remember remember we talked to cap Adam Kaplan and
I brought up the idea that Ramsey should move the safety.
Speaker 4 (43:26):
This is what's gonna happen here, and this is.
Speaker 6 (43:28):
Gonna actually make them defensively more versatile as well. You're
gonna have Porter at one corner and I can't remember
the other corner right now, but he's a really good
one as well. And so you'll be able to have
packages where Ramsey is playing that inside nickel dime position
in multiple sets and he can also play the free safety,
I think eventually, and I think that's what's gonna be
(43:50):
the uni It's make this gonna this is gonna make
this move not seem unilateral because of that, because Mika
Fitzpatrick is gonna get paid and they weren't gonna have
money to make that situation happy and happen there. So
with Ramsey coming in, you can move him the safety
that knocks his pay down a little bit from being
that lockdown corner, And it makes sense when you think
(44:11):
a bit long term that way.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
Do you think there was issues?
Speaker 3 (44:14):
There's been reports Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk this
week that he thinks there were issues between Minca Fitzpatrick
and Mike Tomlin behind the scenes that we don't know about.
Speaker 2 (44:24):
You think it's more money.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
I think it's money.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
That just yeah.
Speaker 6 (44:27):
I mean, I've known Tomlin since I was a rookie
in the NFL, so I've known him for a long
time and he's been consistent the way he is and
obviously you can tell by the way he runs the
organization that everybody respects him for the most part, and
you know there's going to be TIFFs and riffs in
the background all the time. I didn't see to eye
with every coach and nobody is and so the fact
(44:48):
that that could be the issue, I don't think that not.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
A real issue, like those tips that everybody has.
Speaker 2 (44:53):
I just was surprised that he was included in the deal.
It's like, why did you want to get rid of
Mika Fitzpatrick. I think of money, so you think it money,
which makes perfect sense.
Speaker 3 (45:02):
So even with these moves, they also decide to extend
Omar Khan already three years and that one I was
like why. I mean nothing against Omar Kan, I'm just like,
why right now? Don't you want to see what these
moves do for the next season.
Speaker 2 (45:18):
You extend DK Metcalf, you get rid of one.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Wide receiver Diva at another older also wide receiver Diva,
extend him.
Speaker 2 (45:26):
And so I see the moves.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
You obviously believe in Aaron Rodgers a little bit more
than the average person. Yeah, at his age after this injury,
I see all that, But why extend now? Yeah, they
like mediocracy, they like obviously that's been the case.
Speaker 4 (45:42):
Yeah, they want to be five hundred or better and
they've done that. But I think this also proves that
you said something earlier. You said they seem to be
all in, right, they seem feels that way. Yes, it
feels that way.
Speaker 6 (45:53):
So at least, if anything, we're going to be watching
him paying attention to the Steelers this year, right, we
want to see if these moves work, and I think
that helps them as an organization and it helps Omar Khan, right,
because what we said in the past, they've kind of
like batted for singles. Right now they're trying to bat
for a home run. And obviously that depends on what
(46:15):
ballpark we in.
Speaker 4 (46:16):
If we're in Yankee Stadium, that could be a home
run to right right, but in Houston or in Boston
that won't be a home run. So we just got
to wait and see if it pays off.
Speaker 3 (46:25):
Now. I also think the Steelers probably need to make
another move, maybe at running back. I feel like they
know they drafted a running back right, but you probably
want to add a veteran ones to help in the situation.
But I like what you said that at least now
people are maybe going to tune in.
Speaker 2 (46:40):
To watch the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (46:41):
Yeah, because of all of these moves, you just are like, huh,
what do you see that we don't see from the outside.
Speaker 2 (46:46):
So that is a really good point. I didn't even
really think of that.
Speaker 3 (46:49):
I thought they did that with Aaron Rodgers, but now
they're doing it even more so with everybody else.
Speaker 2 (46:54):
So is winning a playoff game the goal for the Steelers?
Speaker 3 (47:00):
Know they haven't won a playoff game, right, we know
that they stay above five hundred, But would you say
that's the goal man winning.
Speaker 2 (47:06):
A playoff game?
Speaker 3 (47:07):
Because if if you just make the playoffs, that's what
you've been doing.
Speaker 6 (47:10):
I think every team in the off season, besides New
Orleans Saints are saying they're going to win the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (47:16):
No that a dig bringes New Orleans Saints.
Speaker 4 (47:19):
Okay, I think everybody, every team is going into that here.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
If every team is thinking that, I need a realistic
goal here.
Speaker 6 (47:28):
Yeah, I don't know what the realistic goal is. I
would think the Steelers is to win a championships too.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
But to me, you know, first win a playoffs, sure,
like first win a playoff game.
Speaker 2 (47:38):
And I do feel that's what I mean.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
Like, if we're talking about this a year from now
and the Steelers do win that playoff game, you're like, no,
they got better, they did something they hadn't done in years.
Speaker 2 (47:48):
But I feel like that has to be a realistic goal.
Speaker 4 (47:51):
I mean, the realistic goal. I just don't know.
Speaker 6 (47:53):
I mean, obviously, you got Aaron Rodgers, He's going to
be there one year probably, so are you're going all
in to win a Super right? Nobody thinks that's happening,
And I don't think any sane person should think that.
But I'm sure that's that's their irrational that's their delusional goal.
Speaker 4 (48:10):
I think that's what it is.
Speaker 3 (48:11):
All right, So we'll move on to the Dolphins here
in this in this trade, you like what the Steelers did.
Speaker 2 (48:17):
You like John news Smith.
Speaker 3 (48:19):
You think it opens them up, and you think they're
gonna get better defensively because you think Jalen Ramsey might
be moving flexibility. Okay, all right, some people think Minka
Fitzpatrick has lost his step.
Speaker 2 (48:30):
Yes, some people they're out.
Speaker 3 (48:32):
There, you know when you read they're like, he's lost
he's past his prime. Well, some people think all three
of those move. Maybe not John new Smith, but that
like Jalen Ramsey is also technically past his prime, and so.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
Is Mika Fitzpatrick.
Speaker 3 (48:43):
But you know last last year he ended with ninety
six total tackles, one force, fumble, one interception, four passes defended.
Speaker 2 (48:52):
You don't see that.
Speaker 6 (48:55):
How old is Minka fa I was just about to say,
how I don't think he's thirty yet, is he? I mean,
those the moves do seem like kind of unilater role
in twenty eight.
Speaker 4 (49:06):
Yes, yeah, that's what I thought. He's not He's not
in this he's not past his prime. He's has some
injuries here though, yes, I have injuries that's kind of
limited limited him and what he can do.
Speaker 6 (49:15):
But I mean, at his best, he's one of the
best in the league as a playmaker and also just
as a leader. I mean, I've seen him do it
in Miami obviously, and didn't go to Pittsburgh in a
situation where as soon as he got there the trade
he had I think he had two interceptions in the
touchdown the first game there or something like that. So
the guy can make plays. I just Miami, though I
(49:36):
don't know what Miami's doing. And this is the thing,
So you can bring Minky in all you want. They
don't have enough good players now, Like I don't know
what they're doing. They're going to go from being a
team just like a year and a half ago that
scored seventy points and was very interesting, to a team
that could be finished fourth in the AFC East.
Speaker 3 (49:53):
The AFC East is interesting is the perfect word to
describe it. Because Okay, Bill, all right, great, you're gonna
be great and we'll see you in the playoffs. A okay,
the other three. I'm with you Dolphins. I'm like, I
just I don't know who you are. I don't I
don't know what your identity is. You had an identity
two years ago when you got Tyreek Hill and I
(50:14):
and you guys were an explosive offense.
Speaker 2 (50:16):
That was your identity.
Speaker 3 (50:17):
Last year you weren't that you lost that explosiveness. I
don't know who I don't know who you are. The Jets,
we don't know who they are. And I say this
in a more positive light, like I just you.
Speaker 6 (50:26):
Did say your expression was like a little a little
elevation there, a little like levity levity.
Speaker 3 (50:33):
But I'm really curious. We talked about justin fields in
the first hour. We're looking forward to that. And then
I the Patriots.
Speaker 2 (50:42):
Who are they? Also without in a good way, like
what are they going to do?
Speaker 4 (50:46):
Playoff team?
Speaker 3 (50:46):
You've got them as your dark horse. You've said that,
and you feel confident about that. Why do you What
is it about them?
Speaker 2 (50:52):
New coach? New coach may like a little bit of that.
Speaker 6 (50:55):
It's that you have a quarterback and you have a
head coach that can think elevate that team to the
to the to the level that we've been accustomed to
seeing the Patriots like a playoff team, a team that's
going to be in contention.
Speaker 4 (51:09):
Now. Will it happen this year?
Speaker 6 (51:11):
I don't know, but I feel that some magic could
happen with them as well.
Speaker 3 (51:16):
And especially I think you saw the Patriots at the
end of the season kind of put together some nice
plays and some nice runs.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
You were like, Okay, all right, let's see what they
can do now with a new head coach and all that.
Speaker 3 (51:27):
You know, The AFC is interesting, is how I would
describe that entire division.
Speaker 6 (51:32):
Yeah, it's interesting. Like I said, the Dolphins, I think
we'll finish fourth. I see I see the Patriots and
the Jets like vying for that second position in the East.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
It's finishing a fourth.
Speaker 6 (51:43):
I really, they have their team. I don't even know
who they have on their team anymore besides two and hell,
and they still got a cham.
Speaker 2 (51:52):
They got a cham.
Speaker 4 (51:54):
That defense is terrible. I don't know. We'll see, We'll
see what we'll see.
Speaker 2 (51:57):
Oh, you know, we can ask Adam Kaplan.
Speaker 4 (52:00):
Can act Adam. I want to see what well Adam.
Speaker 3 (52:01):
Thinks about this trade, what it does for the Dolphins.
What it really does for the Steelers and is the
ultimate goal for the Steelers. Obviously it's to win, but
is the realistic goal to win a playoff game? That
is I think the realistic goal that the Steelers can have.
But we'll dive into it with our NFL insider Adam
Kaplan on the other side.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
Don't go anywhere. This is Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 3 (52:24):
Fox Sports Sunday. Thank you for tuning in, everybody. Hope
you're enjoying this Fourth of July weekend safely, not blowing
up your fingers with a firework.
Speaker 2 (52:35):
Enjoying some barbecue, a.
Speaker 6 (52:37):
Little BBQ, yeah, hellow some some little bbqually cut for it,
close shades, yeah.
Speaker 2 (52:43):
Yeah, carry rounds.
Speaker 3 (52:44):
I'm mci velamios. We have our NFL insider Adam Kaplan.
Speaker 2 (52:48):
Adam, how are you? How's the fourth of July going
for you?
Speaker 15 (52:51):
Guys, could talk to you. I hope everything's going well
with you. And yeah, I remember, man, the the Jason
Pierre Paul story idea that was crazy like we gotta
be more careful and he was able to resume his career.
Speaker 1 (53:02):
But man, that that was pretty scary.
Speaker 2 (53:04):
It's just more like, how are people still doing it.
They still that's where we're wondering.
Speaker 15 (53:09):
Other than I mean, I look, I yeah, I know,
I look, I love fireworks. Grown up got involved in
a little bit, you know when it was when of
course legal, but yeah, you're right, I mean, it's just
I don't understand. I really don't understand how you could
go over the line like that. But you gotta be careful.
Speaker 4 (53:28):
You'll talk about not understanding.
Speaker 6 (53:29):
I think me and Monty are both in you know,
kind of disbelief or kind of shock or like wondering
what are the Steelers really.
Speaker 1 (53:38):
Done with the talk about that? Yeah, yeah, that was great.
Speaker 15 (53:41):
That was great, So all right, and then by the way,
carry your point, but that that was really what the
Steeler fans are are not understanding. I'm going to unpack everything,
please do, and we'll get to the Dolphins too part
of it. But this has been a movement I'm told
within sort of like their front office and for people
(54:03):
who have been there for a while, the Steelers that
you know, they have to be more aggressive.
Speaker 1 (54:06):
This has been a.
Speaker 15 (54:09):
Sort of draft and develop organization foot operations, which is fun.
Speaker 1 (54:12):
That's the way you should do it, but.
Speaker 15 (54:15):
You're not going to get every pick right and because
of that, you have to start looking outside the box.
And Kevin Kolbert, the retired general manager, by the way,
it was really good. They want to serve Bowl with him.
He was old school and that was the way he
was brought up. And that's the way the Steelers did it.
They draft their own players. They don't really sign a
trade for many from other clubs, and that's the way
(54:35):
they do it. But they haven't got dressed perfect. They
draft well, but they're not great at it, and they've
been very aggressive. They aren't Rodgers situation, and we'll get
to that in a minute. But it was really it
started with the DK Metcalf trade. Now as I understand it,
Montcie they made a decision at the end of the
twenty four season that they know that they were not
(54:56):
going to extend George Pickens contract. There was no way
this would work with Pickens, they felt, and they were
going to move him for whatever they can get, the
best they can get, and Dallas was very interested in
They made that work, but they had to get somebody
to replace him, and they were not going to wait
for the draft. This, by the way, the word around
the league was nice receiver draft not great, and they
(55:16):
felt that Metcalf was better than anyone in this draft,
and they might be right about that, so they made
this move. They know they needed a solution for at
least one year quarterback. They brought in Rogers. But the
big thing in Monci this goes to your question or
your point. Steeler fans like, wait a minute, we're paying
Pat Fryermuth twelve and a half million are starting ten end.
Speaker 1 (55:36):
Why are we trading for John O.
Speaker 15 (55:38):
Smith and then going to increase his pay from just
over four million to twelve million. Well, this is There
are a couple of things here. This is the third
time that John Osmith and Arthur Smith have worked together.
That's the small part of it. But they're what we
call heavy twelve personnel team that they're not going to run.
Speaker 1 (55:56):
A lot of three receiver sets.
Speaker 15 (55:58):
Their second receiver will be Wilson, who was hurt last season,
I'm told, with a high ankle sprain and a hampshire problem,
so he barely played. He'll be there too, But it's
really going to go through the two tight ends in Metcalf.
So it's all about the tight ends and Jon O Smith. Boy,
if you remember the big deal that he signed with
New England and twenty one guys, one of the best
(56:21):
tight end contracts in NFL history, and he just never
lived up to it.
Speaker 1 (56:25):
They got rid of him.
Speaker 15 (56:27):
He goes to Atlanta, revised his career a little bit
under Arthur Smith, and then he really played well for Miami.
That was the surprisect why they moved on from Well,
they don't want to extend his contract. They want to
pay him and they found a team who would. Now,
Mancis they sent it back to you. You have to
justify it when we'll get we'll get to Jayalen Ramsey
a minute. But that means that those tight ends have
to dominate other than Metcalf, those guys are going to
(56:47):
share the number two pass target role.
Speaker 3 (56:51):
There's so much to this because Carrie and I were
talking about so it's like, what is a realistic goal
here for the Steelers to win a playoff game?
Speaker 15 (56:57):
Well, they haven't won one Sea that's great, But understand
this though, I think people are getting confused because what's
happened is that people are rightfully so we're look, wait
a minute, we signed Darius Slayfer at one year, ten
million Joey Porter Junior is absolutely starting next to him.
Why we signed why are we training for another corner? Well,
you have to understand something that Jalen Ramsey signed for
(57:18):
four more seasons. Now, it doesn't mean he's gonna play
it out and they have to get through this year
because there's no guaranteed money pass this season. He turns
thirty one this fall. But he he makes him better football.
He makes him better football team for matchup purposes. By
the way, Ramsey's played nickel, he's played inside. He's obviously
better than as an outside corner. They could play big nickel,
which means three safety's. You could teach him how to
(57:40):
play safety. He's played a little bit of it in
certain formations. And by the way, now with trading micka
Fitzpatrick back to Miami, wan Thornhill was cut by the Browns.
Speaker 1 (57:50):
Deshaun Elliot's really good.
Speaker 15 (57:51):
A former Dolphin ironically, yeah, who kind of revolved his career,
had a bunch of injuries, but he's played, he played
really well, got a contract extension with the Steelers.
Speaker 1 (57:59):
So it's just different.
Speaker 15 (58:01):
This is to move this along here, guys, this is
unstealer like, this is like not the way they do business.
But under Omar Khan, their general manager. I got to
give him credit. Who got his three year extension. This
is a new beginning for the way they do business.
I plot them for it.
Speaker 3 (58:16):
Any do you see any issues rising between the diva
that is reportedly Jalen Ramsey.
Speaker 15 (58:26):
No Mike knows how to handle veteran players. Jalen Ramsey's not.
Jesus got a coach had strong. He didn't like the
way that Vic Fanjrey was using him two years ago
now because that he moved He moved Ramsey around a lot.
Ramsey if he had his brothers, as I understand it,
and this happened with the Rams too, because he played
some nickel with the Rams. He'd like to be an
outside corner, but he's got ideal lend for that position.
(58:46):
He's super talented. He made a ton of money in
his career. And the hope here is that he could
stay healthy too. And he does turn thirty one this fall,
they could give him at least two good years because
typically corners are done by thirty too.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
That's usually yeah. They Darius Slay, by the way, turns
thirty five in January.
Speaker 4 (59:05):
Whoa it's Slay thirty five years.
Speaker 15 (59:07):
Oldah, he does he just thirty five. And here's the
oldest star in the corner league. Now Stephan Gilmour would
be the aldest. Wow, signs with someone, which will probably
happen at some point.
Speaker 4 (59:14):
Oh, let me let me greeze up these knees. Then
let me get back down there at them.
Speaker 1 (59:18):
Well, by the way, when you were done, okay, what what?
Speaker 15 (59:21):
What?
Speaker 1 (59:21):
What went first with the legs with the shoulder, Like,
did you just you should? I can't run it?
Speaker 9 (59:25):
Like?
Speaker 1 (59:25):
Well, it was you know, it was the feet, the feet.
Speaker 6 (59:28):
Feet, the feet, Adam, Even more than the knees or
anything else with the lower extremities.
Speaker 4 (59:32):
It's the feet, like you're just yeah, you're constantly on it,
constantly on them. The cleats. I mean, it's just a lot.
But it's funny. We had this conversation, Adam.
Speaker 6 (59:39):
Remember I was saying when we were talking about I
think it was who needed a corner we were talking about,
and uh, and I brought up Jayalen Ramsey and I
said that the way that he's going to extend his
careers moving making that move the safe.
Speaker 8 (59:52):
Through right right right, That's where I see they're going
to have it.
Speaker 1 (59:56):
Yeah, yeah, I definitely see. Let's put it this way.
Speaker 15 (01:00:00):
It's hard to learn this position fully and no offense
at Darius Slay and he did really and he got
cut by the Eagles, but he did look good late
last seasons. As I'm told, there's one of his knees
as a concern. He actually had ostroscopic surgery on it
late in twenty twenty three. And you just brought up like,
you know, okay, so your feet or whatever it was,
(01:00:22):
ended your career. Now this guy was, He's got great
lines that he was super fast coming out Mississippi State.
You have to wonder how well he could run. And
the Eagles learned this with James Bradbury, who they cut,
who signed a big extension two years ago. You never
know when a guy's going to lose it, and they
could lose it on an instant that the Steelers know this.
Speaker 1 (01:00:40):
That could have happened at any time.
Speaker 3 (01:00:41):
Before we completely move on from the Dolphins on this trade.
Darren Waller coming out of it.
Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
To that's isn't that crazy? So I talked to someone
close to Waller.
Speaker 15 (01:00:51):
Part of it is that Frank Smith, the offense coordinator,
doesn't call the place, but for the Dolphins. He was
the Titans coach for Darren Waller, and they are what
I'm told is very close. So the thought from this
one person is he thinks that Smith had some influence
on it, and he knew that they were going to
that they were gonna, you know, that they were going
to probably move John of Smith, and they've had some
(01:01:13):
conversations for a while, so they clearly had something to
do with it. But folks, let's be honest about it.
This Dolphins team is sort of, I use this term,
stuck in neutral.
Speaker 1 (01:01:22):
They're not in drive.
Speaker 15 (01:01:23):
I don't know what they want to be. Their offensive
line has been kind of rebuilt. It's been not very
it's not been very good. And Darren Waller, by the way,
now now he did he had a phenomenal training camp
two years ago with the Giants. His careerenta. Because of
the chronic hamstring problems, I don't know what he's got left.
We're not going to know until training camp. They don't
have anyone who could so replace them. By the way,
(01:01:46):
expect them to sign another Ted End.
Speaker 1 (01:01:47):
They can't.
Speaker 15 (01:01:48):
They can't get through the preseason without adding another Ted end.
Veteran and they've got a bunch of players like Bradley
Chubb and Jalvin Phillips coming off injury.
Speaker 1 (01:01:57):
They just traded rams either very weak at corner. This
is my point.
Speaker 15 (01:02:00):
Like, I get they've Mika Fitzpatrick's back, that's fine, but
what is this defense they I give Anthony Weaver credit,
he did a good job with him last season.
Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
They kind of overachieved.
Speaker 15 (01:02:09):
But there are team, folks that this tells you all
you need to know the Patriots. While the odds.
Speaker 1 (01:02:13):
Makers are picked to have more wins of the Dolphins,
I mean the Patriots folks.
Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
Listen, Adam, don't say it like that, because I just
picked that Drake Man.
Speaker 9 (01:02:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:02:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:02:21):
We were talking about the AFC East and I said it.
I mean, after all these moves, I was like, where
is Miami. Miami is going to finish in the bottom
of that division. I think below your Jets. Yes, yes, Adam,
he said, yeah, And so I think I think the
Jets and the Patriots are going to be vying for
that second spot in the AFC's in my opinion. But
I mean Miami, I mean, really, they go from being
(01:02:42):
one of the most exciting teams and team a team
that was, you know, a playoff annual team to a
team that just I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
What they're doing.
Speaker 15 (01:02:50):
That's my point about being stuck in neutral this. Yeah,
I don't know where they're going. You and I see
the same way. I just don't get it. They have
not just Chris Career has not done a good job
of building off. They've had pretty significant problems. They've got
younger there, so they're hoping it's going to work. They
got to get more out of Tyre kill I mean,
he had the wrist surgery, but they got to get
(01:03:10):
him back going. Defensively, they just don't They just lack
of playmakers in the back end. Yeah, I'm I'm with you, man,
I don't see it with this Dolphins team. I'd be
shocked if they made the playoffs. I just don't see you.
Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
A lot of questions surround in Miami.
Speaker 3 (01:03:25):
All Right, we think, Adam, that this can be a
breakout season for Justin Fields with the Jets.
Speaker 15 (01:03:32):
Oh come on, Adam, Well, okay, I'll give you a
couple of nuggets here. So they have this new offensive coordinator,
Tannor Angstrat, who came from Detroit. Now he I believe
he called plays in college at San Diego State. But
he's young guy. You know, he's one of the youngest
oh season the National Football League. He comes from the
(01:03:52):
Ben Johnson sort of coaching tree for a little bit.
They work together for three years. The hope here is
that he brings some of those concepts there. They are
another team that's kind of rebuilt their offensive line. They've
gotten younger, which is a good thing. They're not great
other than Garrett Wilson, who, by the way, play with
Justin Fields for a couple of years at Ohio State.
(01:04:12):
They're not great there at receiver. They got to take
a look at that thing. But they got Jason Taylor's son,
Mason Taylor. They're tight end and they're excited about that.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
See.
Speaker 15 (01:04:21):
The thing is Manzie, Justin Fields is just so streaky.
When it's good, it's beautiful because he's got enormous arm
thrown arm strength. He's great size.
Speaker 1 (01:04:29):
You know, it can run.
Speaker 15 (01:04:31):
But it's the processing, it's being consistent, it's the approach
to the job. I'll say this about him. He's still
very very young. He just turned twenty six in March.
He's super young. I like this scheme they're bringing in
by contract structure, they're pretty much he's pretty much going
to be the quarterback for two seasons after they he's
got three year deal.
Speaker 1 (01:04:49):
After that they can get out of it.
Speaker 15 (01:04:51):
What the bottom line is, there's enough around him resolved,
by the way, on the fire of his rookie deal.
They've got enough of the running game, which was not
last season. You know they fired the OC during the season.
Speaker 1 (01:05:03):
That was not good. This is a new beginning, by
the way. You know in their building, I've heard that.
Speaker 15 (01:05:08):
Aaron Glenn because he obviously he'd played there before and
you know it's that building really well. He brought in
a new energy, like he he wanted the things to
change there. They've they've organizationally now. They gave a lot
of people buyouts. They were this had nothing to do
with money, as I'm told by a Jet source.
Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
They wanted to.
Speaker 15 (01:05:25):
Get out with the old in with a new so
and I know Rogers just talked about this, Aaron Rodgers
talked about it. I'm very interested to see what this
is going to mean. On Kerry's point, could they could
they beat out the Dolphins? Can this new energy and
Justin Fields could could this change?
Speaker 1 (01:05:41):
Who knows? But I'm interested what happens.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
We just feel like this is the best situation that
Justin Fields has been and this is the year. Like
if he does not deliver this year, then it falls
on him.
Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
When he's so much.
Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
Talent with him.
Speaker 15 (01:05:54):
I tell you what, it's been great when he's protected
and he hangs in the pocket and he's on the
throw because he's got a great army. Go wow, that
this is pretty interesting. And then it's been rare that
he's played more than two good games in a row.
If you check out his career, that's been the problem
with him. Yeah, but I'll tell you what. Arthur Smith
has a reporter back in general. He barely wanted to
play Justin Fields. I was told no, and he was
(01:06:14):
stuck to play Russell Wilson at the end of the season. Unfortunately,
they should have went to the fields.
Speaker 6 (01:06:19):
Yeah, no, And that's and that's what that's been my whole,
my whole thing. They say they were fields the whole
time in Pittsburgh. But again, we talk about Justin Phillis
and Monsey just hit it on the head right atam.
It's we've had people that believe in him. We've had
outs every time that something's happened right where in Chicago,
the whole line was bad.
Speaker 4 (01:06:37):
In Pittsburgh, they were handling handling him with kid gloves.
Now take the gloves off. This is his team. This
is this chance to be the guy that he can
be or not be. And I think this is going
to be the old answer for us.
Speaker 1 (01:06:50):
Also this general manager.
Speaker 15 (01:06:51):
Okay that when you look at their situation with Darren Muchie,
who's their new GM. This is his first This is
a big signing for him, like this was the if
you look at their off season, this is their signature
move in terms of free agency siding justin fields. Yeah,
give them a pretty rich contract, but you got to
answer to that when you when you make a move
like that, I mean that that your first time general matcher,
(01:07:13):
in your first year. This is a pretty big move
for them. Yeah, I I they're putting a lot on
this one. And this oc Angstrad comes over. I'll see
how he does. I know they're really excited to have them.
This is a this is kind of an intriguing team
for all that's happened. But look, we know they've been
bad for a while, so we'll see what happened.
Speaker 3 (01:07:30):
We said that the AEFC is interesting with all of
those teams. Dolphins interesting, not in a good way. Jet's
interesting in a good way, interesting in a good way.
Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
Patriot's a lot of upside new code. Yeah, you know
it's funny. The Patriot.
Speaker 15 (01:07:46):
I don't know, but I know that the Patriot's win
to it might have been about seven and a half
something like that. I know it's kind of higher than
I I thought it would be.
Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
But anyway, Adam, we've kept you a little long, but
thank you so much with us on this fourth of July.
Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
Yes, weekend, be safe, Yes, thank you, Adam. Oh interest
interrush good and bad?
Speaker 4 (01:08:07):
Good bad.
Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
I think, Carrie, I think we have breaking news that
we have to go to brief for bree. What's going on?
Of course my first day breaking news. Oh, I know,
I know that was horrible.
Speaker 5 (01:08:27):
The Washington Nationals, you guys are firing general manager Mike
Rizzo and manager Dave Martinez after they were swept earlier
today by the Red Sox.
Speaker 2 (01:08:38):
They actually fell to thirty seven and fifty three on
this season. Is that or it doesn't seem good to me? No, no,
buen all they have not Yeah, they have not been good.
They have underperformed a lot a last season. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
In fact, they probably waited a little long, gave them,
kept giving them chances.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
Yeah, so that is a bummer breaking news there.
Speaker 5 (01:09:00):
Earlier today, the Orioles defeated the braves a two to one.
The Phillies were top the.
Speaker 2 (01:09:05):
Reds three to one.
Speaker 5 (01:09:06):
Currently, now, I think the Dodgers are about to get
swept by the Astros, which is obviously the worst thing
that could happen here in LA.
Speaker 2 (01:09:13):
They're losing five to one. This is the top of
the ninth inning. There, tell me that, I know. I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (01:09:20):
Randy and Rose Arena hit a solo shot in the
Mariners game. They're beating the Pirates one to zero, and
they're still raindoler happening in Chicago. Still scoreless obviously between
the Cubs and the Cardinals. Earlier today at Wimbledon, Carlos
Alcaaz is advancing to the quarter finals and tipping off
or not tipping off.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
I don't know what the soccer term is. Okay, you
tell me the soccer turning off, kicking off? Oh cute,
I assume it's kicking off. Yeah, let's just go with that.
Let's just come up with that and the cone got off. Yes,
well exactly what I want, he said. See, we don't
need me once is great.
Speaker 5 (01:09:57):
Mexico is taking on the US on Fox TV, happening
about twenty two minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:10:03):
So back to you guys. Thank you, Brie. You are
listening to Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
I am Anti Bologas alongside former All Pro Safety carry
Roads on the other side of this, the wa the
WNBA is expanding.
Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
Does the crew new know where? Easy As one, two
three four coming up next? Don't go anywhere?
Speaker 4 (01:10:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:10:22):
What's up? Everybody?
Speaker 3 (01:10:23):
Happy Sunday for the July weekend. Hope you're being safe,

I know, I'm like letting it breathe. It's time for
a little easy As one, two, three four.
Speaker 3 (01:10:49):
If you've never heard this segment, well, we test the
crew's knowledge. Carrie has lifelines. He's got Mary, Shaye, Brie
all here to heim. It's a total of ten points
that he can win. I'm not trying to trick anyone.
Speaker 4 (01:11:05):
I always sure.
Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
I'm not trying to trick anybody, and they don't even
have to give me the whole answer, just a piece
of the answer. But we're gonna dive into it. Guys,
are you ready, Yes, you're already. Okay, let's start here.
According to bet MGM, name one of the two teams
that are predicted to have the lowest win total for
(01:11:29):
the upcoming season in what season?
Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
This upcoming season of the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:11:34):
FL so futures, there's two teams that are projected to
have the least amount of wins.
Speaker 14 (01:11:42):
Give me.
Speaker 2 (01:11:46):
Is not happy about her? She will be I are
we doing? Are is that what we're picking?
Speaker 8 (01:11:59):
She really does?
Speaker 5 (01:12:00):
I know?
Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
Carry didn't even ask for a lifeline. And Mary, I know.
Do we go with Mary?
Speaker 4 (01:12:06):
We're going with Mary?
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
Going with Mary? Show me the Saints. I'm not happy
about that. Do we know the other team? Just to
guess if you got to think about it, if you had.
Speaker 4 (01:12:19):
To, like, you know, no, no, I'm just out because
I wouldn't. Everything else would be invalid. Yeah, I would
say I would say that bet GM. Bet g M
probably would have the Cleveland in there.
Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
Maybe that's pretty good. The Browns. Okay, Browns and the
Saints four and a half, four and a half wins.
That's depressing.
Speaker 3 (01:12:42):
Yeah, Giants, jetson Titans five and a half, Cardinals, Yeah,
well those I just went to the bottom five.
Speaker 8 (01:12:47):
The Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (01:12:48):
Oh you think it'll be the Cardinals.
Speaker 8 (01:12:49):
Not Okay, Titans.
Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Titan's gonna be better.
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
They're gonna be They're gonna be better. They're gonna be better.
All right, let's move on here. Name two of the
three cities where the w n b A is adding
a franchise They announced this this week.
Speaker 4 (01:13:07):
Isn't like Cleveland or something way, but I'm gonna go.
Speaker 5 (01:13:10):
To brieleveland I was gonna say Cleveland.
Speaker 4 (01:13:13):
I know Cleveland's one of them. You said too, you
are the three?
Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
Yeah, yeah, Troy, it was.
Speaker 8 (01:13:26):
I did just as Detroit.
Speaker 6 (01:13:28):
It is Detroit because they're going to bring on Chris
Weber and Jalen Rose to be the I think the
GM or owners of that team.
Speaker 4 (01:13:38):
But anyway, yeah, really it's Cleveland Detroit for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
Chris Webber, I love him. It was my first. He's
my first. Crowd of five. Are they gonna name the
team that the Fab five? I love that it could
be that'd be great now apparently, so we're going to Detroit.
It's okay, great, got it? Show me Cleveland.
Speaker 8 (01:13:53):
That is right.
Speaker 3 (01:13:54):
In twenty twenty eight is when that franchise is expected
to start. Show me Detroit. That's that's right in twenty
twenty nine, and in twenty thirty they're expanding in Philadelphia,
in Philly, in Philly.
Speaker 2 (01:14:07):
So well done, Brie. Okay, all right, get ready, here
we go. Name three of the four left handed pictures.
Speaker 1 (01:14:17):
I got this, I got this.
Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
I got to reach three thousand strikeouts.
Speaker 4 (01:14:21):
You don't have this one?
Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
Zero of the four left handed pictures? Clankershot?
Speaker 15 (01:14:30):
Is it is?
Speaker 4 (01:14:30):
He left?
Speaker 3 (01:14:32):
I was like, okay, yeah, you guys, yes, of course
three of the four left handed pictures left.
Speaker 4 (01:14:43):
That's a that's actually a good one.
Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
Are you cheating over there?
Speaker 9 (01:14:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (01:14:46):
Mary?
Speaker 9 (01:14:53):
Why?
Speaker 8 (01:14:53):
Martin literally called this question and sent me the answer
and said, just for.
Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
Me to say it, Martin's listening and no main.
Speaker 8 (01:15:00):
Texting me this on Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (01:15:02):
Oh I see, I see.
Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
Oh you guys are don't cheat. You know, we don't cheat.
Speaker 8 (01:15:06):
We don't do that.
Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
Cheat.
Speaker 4 (01:15:07):
No, no, no, but that was fun, crazy, is right?
Speaker 3 (01:15:13):
All right? So we're going with Kershaw Randy Johnson, Okay,
I need one more.
Speaker 2 (01:15:18):
Not from Mary's text from Martin.
Speaker 8 (01:15:20):
I know it, but I think you could get it, Carrie.
Speaker 4 (01:15:23):
I mean it isn't Sandy is. He's not left he's right,
he's righty. Another lefty? Huh? Another lefty?
Speaker 3 (01:15:38):
I think there's like, there's only four lefty Yeah, right, right,
we've got two.
Speaker 4 (01:15:44):
We need Tommy to wait. I don't think he's lefty either.
What's the other lefty? C c oh Ce Sabbathia. Okay,
we'll take that Ce Sabbathias face.
Speaker 1 (01:15:56):
There's another one.
Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
You only need three, you only need three? Yeah, okay,
show me Clayton Kershaw.
Speaker 3 (01:16:03):
That is correct, the newest member to the club of
twenty total be fourth left handed picture.
Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
Show me Randy Johnson that is correct, and show me
cc Sabathia. Yes, that good. It is Steve Carlton Carlton album.
Speaker 8 (01:16:22):
Yes, yeah, Martin literally, I will send you these texts.
Martin literally told me all that we need to proof
on that Steve Carlton has like a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:16:28):
He does. He's one of the higher right.
Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
Yeah, yes, all right, guys, let's see here and ladies,
name four of the five players in baseball history to
reach thirty three home runs before the end of June.
Speaker 4 (01:16:46):
All Right, don't say anything, guys. Wait uh, so we're
gonna go cal Raley. Okay, we're gonna go Ken Griffy Junior. Okay,
I mean we need.
Speaker 2 (01:16:54):
You need four of the five, so.
Speaker 4 (01:16:56):
Ken cal Judge and he said one more, one more,
one more?
Speaker 1 (01:17:05):
Would it have?
Speaker 6 (01:17:06):
It'd have to be Mark McGuire send me sols on
one of those. So I'm gonna I'm gonna say I
think they both did it. So I'll just say, I'll
say wait or Barry.
Speaker 1 (01:17:20):
No, I'll go Barry.
Speaker 4 (01:17:21):
I'll go Barry Bonds instead of those I got it.
Speaker 8 (01:17:25):
I got.
Speaker 3 (01:17:27):
Okay, okay, all right, show me cal Ray, show me yes,
thank you, Yes.
Speaker 2 (01:17:35):
Cal Rally, the fifth player just did it this year,
having an awesome year.
Speaker 3 (01:17:39):
We've talked about him. Thirty three home runs before the
end of June. Okay, show me Ken Griffy Jr. Yep,
he did it in nineteen ninety eight.
Speaker 4 (01:17:49):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:17:50):
Show me Barry Bonds, Yep, he did it in two
thousand and one. Carry and is it Aaron Judge?
Speaker 14 (01:17:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (01:18:00):
Oh, is it.
Speaker 2 (01:18:04):
Karen Judge?
Speaker 8 (01:18:06):
Is it?
Speaker 15 (01:18:07):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:18:07):
It's not down' not Aaron Juice. Aaron not not before June.
He actually hit thirty three already this today, but it's July.
Speaker 3 (01:18:17):
Your other ones were right, Mark McGuire in nineteen ninety eight.
Speaker 2 (01:18:22):
Sammy Sosa nineteen ninety eight. So you actually were pretty
on the money.
Speaker 3 (01:18:28):
I think you got a perfect almost ten because you
said Judge, but you mentioned the other ones.
Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
I'm gonna give it to you because you said it.
That was pretty good. That was pretty good. Good job guys,
and yell, we love that. How did you just knew that?
Speaker 15 (01:18:43):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:18:43):
I knew that one.
Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
You just knew it.
Speaker 6 (01:18:44):
I mean, you know, I'm a I am a historian
for the most part, especially when it's big things like that.
And I know obviously McGuire social were going at it
in that run that everybody was paying attention to. Then
the reason I know that Ken obviously we know how
great Ken is, but just broke his record.
Speaker 3 (01:19:02):
So you saw that as well? No, of course, I
literally I was like I didn't know that. Only up
until this point only those players had done it. That's
pretty impressive. Yeah, you would think Aaron Judge would be
on that list, or even maybe like a like a
Mike Trout at one point on that list.
Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
Yeah, and when I saw, I was like, oh before June.
Speaker 3 (01:19:17):
That's that's the wording right there. That's where it gets tricky.
But I am impressed that you guys got so many
season better than.
Speaker 8 (01:19:25):
Did he.
Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
Oh I heard, I heard we attempted to do easy
as one, two, three, four.
Speaker 3 (01:19:30):
Yeah, very poor attempt and the queen and you know,
I will tell you the first time I did it,
I was so bad. Also, Dan Byer is the master
Mark show. He's the real og. And it is not
an easy game to put together. It's fun if you
do it right, not easy. So thank you Dan Bayer.
(01:19:50):
On the other side, as we finish this final hour, Lakers, Oh,
we're gonna dive into it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
That's right. What's up everybody? Our number three with the
All Pro and All yeah pros.
Speaker 3 (01:20:05):
Here we are on this for the July weekend, hanging
out with you from Fox Sports Radio. It has been
a nice weekend. I know I didn't do anything, but
I liked that I didn't do anything.
Speaker 4 (01:20:18):
Welcome to the Welcome to the club. Welcome to me.
Speaker 2 (01:20:20):
Am I getting old.
Speaker 4 (01:20:23):
I'm not saying that.
Speaker 7 (01:20:25):
No.
Speaker 4 (01:20:25):
I remember what happened one time when you were both old.
Thank you say I appreciate that the party.
Speaker 8 (01:20:32):
Know you guys, not thank you, thank you, thank you,
thank you, you guys humble. Y'are drinking from me, y'all
are drinking from the Don't listen to him. He's somebody
right now. Don't listen to because onekend. Because I'm young.
Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
I don't need it to be for the July to
go out. That is my thing, Shaye, and you should
know that I will go. You know what I'm saying.
I I don't need it to be for the July
to celebrate anything. Is it Wednesday?
Speaker 3 (01:20:58):
Just for it?
Speaker 2 (01:20:58):
I'll go drink with you.
Speaker 8 (01:21:00):
Day we're gone.
Speaker 6 (01:21:02):
And I'm the opposite, right, I don't need I don't
need anything to lead the house to.
Speaker 2 (01:21:06):
Leave the house.
Speaker 5 (01:21:07):
Right.
Speaker 8 (01:21:08):
He was the real old one.
Speaker 3 (01:21:09):
Actually, he likes he really does like his uh loneliness.
You enjoy it, you do, enjoy it, you do. I
just didn't want to go out on fourth of July.
There's just too many people, stupid.
Speaker 2 (01:21:22):
People driving and whatnot. So I stayed in and played
resident evil.
Speaker 3 (01:21:24):
I'm just saying I had a great night and I
didn't need it to barbecue all barbecue today.
Speaker 2 (01:21:28):
I don't need to be Fourth of July. You know
what I'm saying. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 8 (01:21:31):
What's your go to barbecue?
Speaker 9 (01:21:33):
No? You are?
Speaker 4 (01:21:34):
You don't.
Speaker 2 (01:21:34):
I don't eat that's right, But I could.
Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
I could, Okay, I jokingly said to him in one
of the breaks. I was like, I work at Dodger Stadium.
I could have a veggie dog whenever I want, so
not a dot dog.
Speaker 2 (01:21:43):
Great, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:21:44):
I could have a veggie burger whenever I want. I
put it out on the grill. Mar it's about that
air for I don't need it to be Fourth of July.
Speaker 2 (01:21:51):
Mac and cheese. I can have that any day.
Speaker 8 (01:21:53):
Fire the only food.
Speaker 3 (01:21:55):
I was telling him that is different than like Fourth
of July or like Labor Day weekend where everyone barbecues.
I only like Thanksgiving, Like Thanksgiving food I think is
real specific. That's the only time I'm gonna have a
green bean castle.
Speaker 4 (01:22:07):
That's you.
Speaker 8 (01:22:08):
You're not even stuffing on a Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (01:22:10):
Yeah, so that's you know, like oh yeah, barbecue, barbecue.
Speaker 9 (01:22:16):
A burger.
Speaker 1 (01:22:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:22:18):
The guys are killing me with the stuffing thing. We
call it dressing, okay, dress dressing, like like like dressing.
You're saying, yeah, we just call it dressing. Does not
know he's too young.
Speaker 2 (01:22:33):
What I'm saying is I hear what you're saying.
Speaker 8 (01:22:35):
But dressing to most of us is a is a
sauce like I called gravy dressing. Maybe oh yeah, yeah yeah,
maybe like handy the dressing, hand me the dress, but
it's never never like a solid. You don't never say
handy the dressing. You handy the gravy. Yeah no, no, no, no,
no no no. It was just like a merry pay
attention sports Lakers Vikers.
Speaker 3 (01:22:59):
The stuffing is Ayton and a stuffing that is a
little bit bland. If I'm gonna be completely honest, I
I don't know what DeAndre Ayten, besides being a seven
footer that's going to protect your rim, really adds to
the Lakers. I understand you needed the center, like you
had no other options but to take this center because
(01:23:20):
the Clippers took a center you wanted, and there's a
There's not many centers that are out there that you
but DeAndre a in.
Speaker 2 (01:23:26):
To me, I have not been a fan because I
think he has a different perception of what he's capable of.
Speaker 3 (01:23:33):
I think he thinks he's better than he actually is,
and that is a bad type of mentality.
Speaker 2 (01:23:39):
To have in a locker room. Right, Yeah, I'm not
making this up. There was high expectations for this first
overall pick. Yes, right back in the day. And yet
you're a seven footer and you're you're fine, but you
should be better. Where is the effort. I don't see
your effort hardly ever.
Speaker 3 (01:23:57):
It's a lot of me, me, me, me me, And
you know what Phil Jackson says, you don't win until
that me becomes a wei and I don't know if
he knows how.
Speaker 15 (01:24:05):
To do that.
Speaker 6 (01:24:05):
Yeah, that's fair because up until this point we don't know.
But this guy is a all star caliber player at
one point in Phoenix when he was asked to be
that way double double guy can give you nineteen twenty
in Phoenix not too far ago now, when Money Williams
(01:24:28):
came in, he changed that for him. He wanted him
to play a different type of way where Ayton felt
like he should be doing more. And so that persona
that you're saying the thing the way that he is,
it is true. We've seen it because we saw it
play out. But given the opportunity and I think he
will have the opportunity here with the Lakers. He's playing
(01:24:50):
with a point guard who will get him easy buckets.
So he's going to get him easy six, six to
eight points just.
Speaker 4 (01:24:57):
Off blobs, some great lobs. Absolutely right.
Speaker 6 (01:25:01):
But he's a pick and pop guy that can shoot
the mid range, that can give them some different levels,
like a three level type of scoring situation. Now with
them being in that mit range, he can score there.
He's a pick and pop guy. He can shoot it.
The effort thing. That's going to be the thing with
Ayton because he had to skill. He can give them
seventeen and eight. I can see that easily. Now, is
(01:25:24):
he going to play the right way for the whole
season when things don't go as way? That's the question,
and I think that's what we want to see. I
think when you have an opportunity, opportunity to have a
new start in a situation where you can win, you
should be able to amp your play and your level
to meet that criteria. And that's what I'm hoping for
from Deandra Aden.
Speaker 3 (01:25:44):
So I hear what you're saying that there is still
hope that you can crack this guy to do what
you need for your team to succeed.
Speaker 2 (01:25:54):
Right, he's still young. Yeah, like all of that.
Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
But you're going to come into the Lakers. You are
going going to be option if Lebron James stays as
a Laker.
Speaker 2 (01:26:06):
Watch twenty twenty five. Watch twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (01:26:09):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (01:26:09):
Well we'll talk about Lebron James in a second.
Speaker 3 (01:26:16):
Right, Yeah, you're not gonna be option one or option two.
I don't even know if you're Option three. Because they
do have Austin Raves who they like.
Speaker 2 (01:26:26):
You know, I know he opted out, but he didn't
opt out because he wants to leave the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (01:26:30):
He opted out because he probably thinks he can get
more money after this season, you know, if he performs
at a high level. I don't anticipate Austin Reeves being moved,
and I think the Lakers might dive into him more
as the number three with this roster. So it's like
this persona of eight and thinking he can should get
(01:26:52):
more I don't know, more ball time or I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
It's like, you're not gonna get it here. You're still
not going to get it here.
Speaker 4 (01:26:57):
No, he's not going to get he's we're not going
to him for a bucket. No, that's not happening.
Speaker 3 (01:27:01):
No, No, And what the Lakers need you to do
is effort on the defensive side of the ball. Yeah,
and he doesn't always have that, and that's what you
need from him.
Speaker 2 (01:27:09):
Why else are you on here?
Speaker 6 (01:27:11):
If you feed, if you feed that dog a bone occasionally,
which Luca will do, that's the part you will keep
him happy. He can score, I can see fourth option
whatever you want to whatever option he is. He can
score seventeen may be a little ambitious because of what
you just said, all the guys, you just.
Speaker 9 (01:27:30):
It.
Speaker 6 (01:27:30):
Yeah, but he can score seven eight points each half,
and that's absolutely that's still fourteen sixteen points, not being
the fourth option. So I'm sure if he's getting those
looks and those touches, the effort on the other end
will be there. That's part of the Big Man. I
guess when you think about big Man and you think
about being the defensive anchor, it doesn't matter if you're
the anchor or not. You still want some You know
(01:27:52):
that you want a couple of bones here and there,
and he will get that with Luca and.
Speaker 3 (01:27:55):
Lebron totally totally agree that he will have a z buckets,
and he may rise to this occasion because he's gonna
be surrounded by other talents, right. I also wonder will
there be issues in like personality issues in the locker room?
Speaker 2 (01:28:15):
Sure, because we already know when you play along Lebron
James watch TWI thank You're Watch twenty twenty five.
Speaker 3 (01:28:25):
If it goes well, he gets a lot of the credit,
and so will Luca. And if it doesn't go well,
you're gonna get all the blame. And I just I
if you couldn't handle the criticism in Phoenix to Portland,
how are you going to handle that it's going to
the criticism will come. I don't see how he can
handle it based on what we've seen him.
Speaker 6 (01:28:48):
Do in the past one hundred percent fair, and I
don't know how he's going to react either. And I
think that's that's the whole mystery surround and this pick
up in general. But it also what what this pickup
does for me is apps nothing in the Grand's Game
of the West, though, right, And so that's where I'm
going with it. As far as him playing, that's I
think he's gonna be fine.
Speaker 4 (01:29:08):
I really do.
Speaker 6 (01:29:09):
I think he'll step up to the plate and actually
have something to play for, So I think he'll be fine.
But we talked about the pantheon of the West. Where
where does this put them? With this with this pick
in your opinion mound?
Speaker 3 (01:29:21):
Oh, Like, if we're talking about the West, you're you're
You're not better than the Rockets. I don't think so,
I don't. I think Denver has gotten better and I
would put Denver over the Lakers already early on. I
would put my Clippers above the Lakers. I think we
just have more depth at this point, and I vitza
Subots can absolutely keep up with DeAndre Ayton, brook Lopez
(01:29:44):
coming off the bench. You know what I'm saying, Like
why in Oklahoma City Thunder they also have a seven
footer that can also hang in there with DeAndre Ayton, Like, oh,
maybe you got a little better than the Warriors, right,
because the Warriors don't have necessarily a all man like that.
Like we've talked about Draymond Green playing he plays like
(01:30:04):
a seven footer, but in reality he's like what six
a nine? Yeah, like you know, not even that, but
he plays like a seven footer, but he actually is
not that. Grizzlies, I mean Grizzlies do have a seven
footer in Zach Edy that can maybe he's yet haven't
even said your Maverick.
Speaker 2 (01:30:23):
Do you know why?
Speaker 3 (01:30:24):
Because I'm looking at the Western Conference right now in
the order of how it ended.
Speaker 2 (01:30:28):
So that's why these are the That's literally why. So
they were coming, they were coming. I was like, Grizzlies
only have Zach Kitty. Oh okay, King's simonas isn't he
like a seven footer?
Speaker 1 (01:30:38):
Ye?
Speaker 2 (01:30:38):
Okay, they got that.
Speaker 3 (01:30:39):
And then the Mavericks, who have every tall person on
the roster possible, they're a week You're gonna be able
to pass the ball if they just keep their arms out.
They are blocking every lane possible exactly. So they come
in number nine.
Speaker 2 (01:30:56):
But come on, think about that. That's a great point.
Speaker 4 (01:31:00):
Yeah, I don't know what it does. Yes, it's.
Speaker 2 (01:31:03):
It feels.
Speaker 3 (01:31:04):
It absolutely feels a neat And then and then I
was like, and then you kept Jackson Hayes, but you
didn't play him in the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:31:09):
Exactly what was that move? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:31:12):
I don't know. And that's and that's all. We're gonna
end with Jackson Ayes. But Lebron James, we'll watch twenty
twenty five.
Speaker 8 (01:31:19):
I'm watched twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (01:31:21):
I gotta tell you.
Speaker 3 (01:31:22):
Dan and I were here on fourth of July and
Bo Bentzon, our producer, was tweeting us, this is how
we got that drop is because this past week we.
Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
Saw that he's been golfing. Oh man, we saw that
he was in Cleveland, yes.
Speaker 3 (01:31:39):
And so Bo was like, watch what is he up to?
And it was so good that we're like, what does
this all mean? He tends to not be very active
on social media unless he's very active, right, like he
either takes dry spells or he's doing stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:31:53):
He's out there golfing. Is he gonna retire? He's gonna
try to be a better golfer than MJ?
Speaker 5 (01:31:58):
Is that?
Speaker 2 (01:31:58):
Is that the next one?
Speaker 4 (01:31:59):
He's got to be the go at something.
Speaker 2 (01:32:00):
He's gotta even go at something. It ain't golf though.
If you saw those videos, I don't think is there.
Speaker 4 (01:32:05):
I saw it. It was close to it was It
was close to Barkley than it was the Joys. Yeah,
it just looked like.
Speaker 3 (01:32:11):
He tried to hit it so hard, right, And it's like, listen,
I get it, But every time I see it, a
golfer hit the ball really hard. It doesn't even look
like they tried to hit it that hard. Let the
club and Lebron looks like he's trying to hit it hard.
Speaker 2 (01:32:26):
Watch thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:32:29):
But but when does Lebron? Oh my god, if you
don't want to write it, I actually.
Speaker 2 (01:32:38):
Thought I will never Oh my gosh, I literally thought
that was like, I'm not saying that, I.
Speaker 8 (01:32:44):
Will never say that your hindness works too.
Speaker 4 (01:32:46):
I will say that either Lego number twenty three, number
two Lakers. I love when when does he When does
he not? Yeah that too? When does he not try hard?
Speaker 2 (01:32:57):
Fair?
Speaker 6 (01:32:58):
He is a try hard that talented as he is
and as accomplished as he is, he's a try hard
as well when it comes to his persona and the
way that he's perceived.
Speaker 8 (01:33:08):
Absolutely that's just who he is.
Speaker 6 (01:33:10):
So he will get better at golf. He will get
better or die trying. And that's where I stand. But
as far as what he's going to do, he's going
to be with the Lakers. I mean, there's no there's
been some proposed trades and situation all the stuff that's
going on, but he's going to be. He's going to
be in LA and he has to try to make
(01:33:31):
it work. And I think that's what he should be
focusing on right now.
Speaker 3 (01:33:33):
He is to try to make her work, because the
minute he moves from moves on from the Lakers, doesn't
that admit in a way defeat, Like he admits this
didn't go the way I thought. This did not come
out with a bunch of championships. You got one in
the bubble. You did, you did, but you also were
not embraced by Laker fans maybe the way you thought.
(01:33:57):
And so I feel like even if he ego has
always been a topic of conversation, but the minute he
leaves the Lakers, that is at minting defeat.
Speaker 6 (01:34:07):
It's a minting, it's admitting defeat. But also, like you said,
as much as he wants to be welcome wherever he is,
it doesn't matter where. That is the fact that the
team that he's playing for, the team that he's actually
won a championship for, the team that you know he's
been you know he's played played some really good basketball
(01:34:28):
for it does not accept you the way that you've
been accepted everywhere else.
Speaker 4 (01:34:31):
That has to be that has to be a big
hit to his ego.
Speaker 3 (01:34:34):
For sure, absolutely, And I don't think he has any
other option. I think I said this to you last week,
Like the whole thing of him going to the next
he can't go to another team, Like, he can't possibly
do that. He can go back to the Calves, Yes,
and wrap up his career there. But if he went
to another team and they don't win exactly, Oh my goodness,
(01:35:00):
it's everything you don't want, Yeah, Lebron, Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (01:35:06):
It's fine. That's fine, good, it's fine.
Speaker 3 (01:35:08):
I I think he starts the season right as a Laker,
But I think there is a possibility he doesn't end
his career there.
Speaker 4 (01:35:17):
We'll see.
Speaker 6 (01:35:18):
I hope he stays here and just and just plays
it out. I mean we've we've seen you at enough stops. Yes,
don't go to another place.
Speaker 2 (01:35:25):
It could only be Cleveland, right, that's the only one
where you excited.
Speaker 4 (01:35:27):
That's going back. Yeah, like you said, that's all that's
a that's a wrap up.
Speaker 2 (01:35:31):
That's a wrap up.
Speaker 8 (01:35:31):
Let's keep our eyes, let's keep watch watch.
Speaker 2 (01:35:35):
Twenty twenty five. And there has been I mean, I
think it's super silly speculation. Did you see that the MAVs.
Speaker 3 (01:35:42):
Yeahs would be interested only if it's a byout situation.
Speaker 2 (01:35:47):
Yeah, you and everyone else maps exactly. You and everyone
else in a buyout situation would be interested.
Speaker 3 (01:35:52):
It's just in a trade situation it does get complicated
because it's like, what is his value? Like it's hard
to because of because of lebron chains goodness. Uh, you
don't know his exact value, and so that's that's why I.
Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
Think it gets complicated. But well, we'll see, Yeah, we'll see.
Speaker 4 (01:36:09):
Yeah, we don't want that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:10):
We don't know. No no, no, no no, all right
on the other side of this, Carrie, is it gross
or is it greatness? Oh well, that don't go anywhere.
Speaker 3 (01:36:22):
Fox Sports Sunday, Welcome back, everybody Happy Sunday, fourth of
July weekend. I am MONSI Bolanos all pro safety carry
roads here with me as we hang out.
Speaker 2 (01:36:33):
Hopefully you're enjoying your weekend wrapping it up.
Speaker 3 (01:36:38):
Maybe you didn't have as many hot dogs as Joey
Chestnut did.
Speaker 2 (01:36:45):
Hot t eating contest. Is it gross or is it greatness? Carrie?
Speaker 4 (01:36:50):
I think you just got my answer.
Speaker 2 (01:36:53):
Gross.
Speaker 4 (01:36:53):
It's gross.
Speaker 2 (01:36:54):
It's gross.
Speaker 4 (01:36:55):
It's gross, but it's also greatness.
Speaker 2 (01:36:57):
I was gonna say, can it be both?
Speaker 14 (01:36:58):
It is?
Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
No, No, you don't think it's a sport. No, girl,
can you eat seventy one hot dogs?
Speaker 1 (01:37:07):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:37:08):
And look the way he does you know, glad he's
a sin right, Yeah, but look at what he looks like.
He does that. I look bit like that too.
Speaker 8 (01:37:15):
If I would throw up every.
Speaker 2 (01:37:17):
Ten hot dogs, there's no way that's what he's doing.
Speaker 8 (01:37:19):
Dude, he's definitely throwing them up.
Speaker 2 (01:37:20):
There's I don't think you have time because this is timed.
Speaker 8 (01:37:24):
Okay, eat it all up, but you're gonna throw up.
Speaker 3 (01:37:26):
Yeah, this dude has definitely I don't want to do this,
all right. He had seventy point five hot dogs. Is
to win for the seventeenth time, obviously, there is nobody
that can compare. He's had seventy six hot dogs in
twenty twenty one. That is his record, and I just
(01:37:47):
can't imagine it. But I give him credit because this
is something that you have built up for.
Speaker 8 (01:37:54):
You can't just do this a million dollar scal he's
a millionaire.
Speaker 2 (01:37:57):
I agree.
Speaker 3 (01:37:58):
Not anyone can do this, you know what I'm saying
the guy that won last year, because remember last year
there was an issue with him in like sponsorship or something,
and so he didn't participate. The guy Patrick bert Tooletti
last year only was able.
Speaker 2 (01:38:10):
To have forty six point five.
Speaker 8 (01:38:12):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:38:13):
Okay, look at that jump.
Speaker 4 (01:38:14):
That's that's insane. It is it's gross.
Speaker 2 (01:38:18):
It is gross and great.
Speaker 4 (01:38:20):
There is there's some there's a there is some greatness
to it.
Speaker 6 (01:38:23):
He's somebody that wins a lot at something and has
achieved a lot of earnings and the whole deal. And
so I mean there is something to be celebrated about,
I guess, but it is gross.
Speaker 3 (01:38:34):
I I messed up on the Bertoletti. He had forty
six and a half this year, but last year he
had fifty eight. So still not completely off of what
Joey Chestnut can do.
Speaker 2 (01:38:43):
But he doesn't just do that. He like has a
record of over I think a hundred chicken wings.
Speaker 8 (01:38:49):
Yeah, you're gonna I have a list of some of
his eating record Oh my god. Yes, his all time
record for hot dogs is seventy six hot dogs with
the buns and in ten minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:39:01):
Ten minutes. He doesn't have time to throw up one.
Speaker 8 (01:39:04):
Hundred eighty two large chicken wings in thirty minutes, one
hundred and twenty one twinkies.
Speaker 2 (01:39:10):
In six holes six minutes.
Speaker 8 (01:39:12):
Yeah, that's that's insane. Thirty fish tacos in.
Speaker 2 (01:39:16):
Five minutes, that's stinky.
Speaker 8 (01:39:18):
Oh oh my god. This is fifty two small cheeseburgers
in ten minutes. Hold up fifty two hundred forty one
hard boiled eggs in eight minutes. Imagine about the whoa.
Speaker 2 (01:39:32):
This guy's insane, in insane, And that's why it's like
it is greatness.
Speaker 14 (01:39:36):
It is.
Speaker 8 (01:39:38):
Wables in eight minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:39:41):
Eighty one you're not even chewing. That's like you're swallowing.
You're just swallowing. At this point. Is eighty one allien
an alien?
Speaker 3 (01:39:51):
And it's it's something that he's built up for expanding
his stomach, but in a way where he doesn't look
he does not.
Speaker 4 (01:39:58):
Look like that prepped for this.
Speaker 8 (01:40:00):
You're going diets.
Speaker 2 (01:40:01):
You know he's not going to visit doctor now on
my six hundred pound life.
Speaker 8 (01:40:05):
No, Like you know what I'm saying, of them have
six packs said, super toned and.
Speaker 2 (01:40:11):
Super tote, better fit than fit, more than I am.
And I can't eat like that.
Speaker 8 (01:40:14):
It doesn't make sense.
Speaker 4 (01:40:15):
I don't want to eat like that.
Speaker 2 (01:40:16):
I am either.
Speaker 6 (01:40:18):
I am dejected by the thought of eighty one twinkies.
And that's that's that's saird, that's crazy, it's diabetes, it's
it's after one meal.
Speaker 2 (01:40:30):
It's just I can't. But I think it's greatness. If
I had to pick one, if I had.
Speaker 8 (01:40:35):
To pick one or the other, it's a million dollar
skill and there isn't a lot of those out there.
So if if we gotta, we got to give it
to them, you know, it's to give them greatness.
Speaker 2 (01:40:44):
What's the most of anything you've ever had? Like, was
the time you remember that? You were like, I had
all of this in a short amount of time.
Speaker 4 (01:40:51):
Yeah, gluttony is not my not mine.
Speaker 2 (01:40:54):
You're all pro safety, but like I'm trying to like
in the vidual frosted flakes count individual frost no a box?
Did you have a box of frosted flags?
Speaker 3 (01:41:10):
I can think of one time. I think this was
the twenty It might have been the twenty seventeen World Series.
I was sitting in the all you can eat pavilions.
At the time, it's not a thing anymore, and so
you feel the need to eat because it's free.
Speaker 2 (01:41:22):
Like you're like, no, it's I'm gonna eat my way
through the seat, sure, right, And I in I think
in a matter of like two hours.
Speaker 3 (01:41:30):
I think I had like five veggie dogs and I
was like, I am dying, dying, And I didn't even
scarf them down. I enjoyed the beer over like the
course of maybe like maybe two hours ninety minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:41:45):
I had about five and I was like, never again.
Speaker 6 (01:41:47):
Well you're talking talking to someone that that doesn't eat
hot dogs in general. So just the thought of seventy
six of them, just or whatever it is, we.
Speaker 8 (01:41:57):
Gotta do the challenge. Yes, that that is going on
in the mL beer right now. It's so you go
to a game, your daughter game, wherever game you want
to go to, and each inning you have to eat
a hot dog and have a beer. So no, I
can't do nine hot dogs, nine beers nine.
Speaker 2 (01:42:14):
I can't even do probably three beers.
Speaker 1 (01:42:16):
I think I could do it.
Speaker 8 (01:42:18):
Maybe a tall one isn't a beer, by the way,
it's like a tall one is two beers. Yeah, so okay,
I think I could do that.
Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
I believe in you.
Speaker 8 (01:42:27):
If a tall one is two beers, I.
Speaker 3 (01:42:30):
Just beer is so filling beersaring, Like what beer do
I choose?
Speaker 8 (01:42:35):
You gotta get.
Speaker 2 (01:42:37):
What you got a drink you can't have like a
real beer yeah, exactly not an I p a.
Speaker 8 (01:42:41):
You know what, I'm saying the question for you too,
though it's not out of the question for.
Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
You got out of the question. Yes, No, I can't
do that.
Speaker 8 (01:42:49):
There's no question.
Speaker 4 (01:42:50):
I couldn't do it, no question.
Speaker 3 (01:42:51):
I get three three three three three three three three three,
and that's as good as.
Speaker 2 (01:42:56):
You're gonna get.
Speaker 3 (01:42:57):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:42:58):
I think USA is on scoreboard at the corn Cock
off file.
Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
Brianna Murou over at the news desk to give us
that and so much more, Bree.
Speaker 2 (01:43:08):
Yes, Chris Richards with the goal. Ye has a one
zero lead out of the.
Speaker 5 (01:43:16):
Yes, I just want to get you just singled out
and just play that because I want to say CCF.
How about that is CF and then nobody would take
you seriously?
Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
That is very true.
Speaker 5 (01:43:28):
Yes, okay, anyway, Cardinals and Cubs are actually just getting
out of a rain delay. Cubs are leading the Cardinals
one zero bottom of the first. This astro swept the
Dodgers today five to one. Clayton Kershaw was named to
the All Star roster for the eleventh time as a
legacy pick. According to Rob Manford, Mookie Betts was left
(01:43:50):
off as well as Mets Wanol swool Sto was left off.
The Yankees beat the Mets six to four. They avoided
the sweep. Aeron Judge scored his thirty third home run
of this season. It took ten innings, but the Tigers
beat the Guardians seven to two. Cleveland has now lost
ten in a row. The Blue Jays at won eight
(01:44:12):
straight as they beat the Angels three to two. It
was af Phillies over the Reds three to one, and
earlier today at Wimbledon, Carlos Alcaaz is advancing to the
quarter finals.
Speaker 2 (01:44:23):
Back to you guys, Thank you Bray.

Speaker 2 (01:44:54):
So don't worry there.
Speaker 3 (01:44:55):
But speaking of the All Star Game and Clinton Kershaw
getting this honorary, you know pick as he should be
part of the All Star Game. Is the Home Run
Derby and we don't have all the participants yet, Shay,
can you confirm that it's still only three?
Speaker 2 (01:45:11):
Cal Raley Ronald Acuna.
Speaker 8 (01:45:13):
Junior as sounds right. I'll double check for you.
Speaker 2 (01:45:17):
This is the third one. I'll tell you double yeah,
double check. There's only three right now that are in it.
But specifically cal.
Speaker 3 (01:45:23):
Rally right, the sensation coming out of Seattle. A catcher
has never done what he has done so far. I
think the highest home runs for a catcher is forty.
He's at thirty four. He beat his Oh, he's at
thirty five. He had two on Friday. He had to
runs on Friday. His personal best was thirty four. So
(01:45:44):
he's past that already already, and he's going to participate
in the Home Run Derby.
Speaker 2 (01:45:49):
Don't do it, that's how you feel.
Speaker 3 (01:45:51):
I do?
Speaker 14 (01:45:52):
I do.
Speaker 4 (01:45:53):
It's been known to wreck a Swainton.
Speaker 6 (01:45:56):
Yeah, you're swinging out of your normal conference zone to
to you know, hit with power and knock these majestic
home runs out. And obviously you know, that's what you're
aiming for a lot of times it breaks down the
mechanics of your swing. And so coming out of the
All Star Break, a lot of those guys find themselves
in a slump early on. Sure to get to get
(01:46:19):
back in that groove, yep. And for them, Seattle's in
the in the hunt, in the chase. Got a good team,
a team that's kind of I guess exceeded some people's
expectations as a whole. There's bigger fish to fry. Obviously
for him, he may not ever have a season like this,
so I understand why he's doing it to capitalize off
the momentum and the fame. But for your team this
(01:46:42):
could be a setback. So I'm always kind of a
little ifpy with the home run challenge.
Speaker 2 (01:46:46):
James Wood is the third one.
Speaker 8 (01:46:48):
Yeah, it's James Wood.
Speaker 2 (01:46:49):
James Wood. Yes, it came back as you were talking,
you know, did you see my brain compute? I was like,
there it is James Wood. James Wood is the third one.
Speaker 3 (01:46:58):
I there have been several players right that I have
lost it by participating in the home run derby, because
it's not the same. You have your dad, your friend,
lobbing you a ball. It's not the same swing, and
I get all that, but like you said, it's just.
Speaker 2 (01:47:14):
I think he owes it.
Speaker 3 (01:47:17):
Unfortunately, he may never get this opportunity, but he owes
it to the fans.
Speaker 2 (01:47:21):
You are the best hitter right now. You've got to
do it, and I understand Aaron Judge has should do
it as well, and he doesn't.
Speaker 3 (01:47:29):
You know, Polar Bear Pete has done it a few times,
and it's always a question of what's going to happen
to you after.
Speaker 2 (01:47:34):
I am giving him major credit for doing it.
Speaker 3 (01:47:37):
The fans want it. Baseball fans want it. You are
the talk of town right now. You are it, right, Shay?
What's going on?
Speaker 4 (01:47:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (01:47:45):
I like how you said that, because, to be honest,
I don't really like how a lot of it seems
like almost like a dunk contest situation to me, Like
it's not that cool anymore. It's not what it used
to be.
Speaker 1 (01:47:57):
Blah blah blah blah blah.
Speaker 8 (01:47:58):
And it's something thatkind of annoys me is when the former,
the person that won it last year doesn't do it again. Yeah, obviously,
to Oscar has injuries and it might be because of
his injuries and it's it's totally it makes sense. Obviously,
as a Dodger fan, I don't want him to do
it either, But as a baseball fan, I think things
need to happen to where they kind of need to say, hey,
(01:48:20):
like the winner of this needs to do it next year.
Obviously if they has an injury or something like that, no,
this can't happen. But like the person with the most
home runs that season has to do it, you know
what I mean. They need to make it to where
this is like a you have to do this.
Speaker 2 (01:48:33):
I agree because I.
Speaker 8 (01:48:34):
Think it would. Obviously it would bring in a lot
of money. On top of it, some players don't like
Showhey said no, of course, it's kind of annoying that
the best and biggest name in baseball doesn't.
Speaker 1 (01:48:44):
Want to do it.
Speaker 2 (01:48:44):
Aaron Judge too.
Speaker 8 (01:48:45):
Yeah, the names that would come, and you would have
a huge market just to watch it, and then it
would bring viewership to the to the All Star Game.
But at the same time, it's like, you owe it
to the fans, you owe it to the sport. You
get paid all this money. You can't just take a
weekend man.
Speaker 3 (01:49:01):
Yeah, and I it's like it is tough because there
have been so many players that really have lost it, right,
So it's true, but I'm with you, and I wouldn't
even say that it's as bad as the slam Dunk
Contest because I do think people still watch the home
run derby, Like, if you're tuning in, you're gonna watch
the home run derby, right, But that's a perfect example
of how the slam dunk contest you get. Nobody's here
(01:49:23):
is cal Raley, the man right now, right now, the
biggest guy, and he's like, y'all do it, like, thank you,
thank you. I know, I know it's gonna be super risky.
I know that, and for your team and I'll but
like for baseball, for what that event is, I wish
other players took it upon themselves to do it when
(01:49:44):
they are when they're the ones to do it.
Speaker 6 (01:49:47):
Well, yeah cal Raley, I mean, coming into this year,
I would say the common person wouldn't know his name.
Speaker 3 (01:49:54):
So for him, yeah, Jory, I didn't even know how
to say rally for him. It's like rally wrong for
him him.
Speaker 6 (01:50:00):
I understand it, I do, But let's see what happens
in the second part of the season.
Speaker 2 (01:50:06):
And it's not being pessimist. You know I'm not, but
I know you're not.
Speaker 6 (01:50:10):
I know you're not so, but if this thing does
not go well in the second half of the season
and Seattle takes a takes a die, it's going to
be pointed back to this moment.
Speaker 3 (01:50:19):
Listen, the big Dumper, right, that's his name, the big
Dumper Jumper, the big Dumper.
Speaker 8 (01:50:24):
Du Yeah, because he's got a picture schedules, got a
big dump, and he's got the top of that.
Speaker 2 (01:50:31):
He is at the top of a mount exactly. How great, though,
let's do the flip side with that flip it.
Speaker 3 (01:50:37):
If he he doesn't fall off and he continues to
have then what's the excuse for everybody else is going
to be?
Speaker 4 (01:50:43):
It won't be one.
Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
They're better not be one. He has the potential to
switch that narrative. There's I again. I'm just I hope.
Speaker 2 (01:50:50):
I I know that history has said what you're saying, like,
don't do it. I understand that.
Speaker 3 (01:50:55):
I hope that he proves everyone wrong, and I hope
that he continues to have a great second half of
the season and that maybe other big hitters will be like, oh,
maybe it's not that bad. Maybe we can do this
for the fans because it's it's such a great it's
a fun time.
Speaker 2 (01:51:12):
I went to the home run.
Speaker 3 (01:51:13):
Derby here when it was a Dodger stadium a few
years ago, and it is so fun to watch, like
seeing all of them in one spot trying to hit
these home runs.
Speaker 2 (01:51:20):
And it's like, yeah, it's not the same, it's not
the same, but you owe it. You owe it to
a sport, you owe it.
Speaker 3 (01:51:27):
So I'm happy cal Rawley is doing and I hope
history does not repeat itself.
Speaker 4 (01:51:33):
I hope it doesn't either.
Speaker 2 (01:51:33):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course, of course we'll see. I
guess we will see. On the other side, we're going
to wrap things up with a little carry on or
off a yacht or a restaurant.
Speaker 3 (01:51:46):
We'll see how carry feels. Don't go anywhere. It's Fox
Sports Sunday. I don't I don't know the words to
this song either, but it definitely makes me want to, like,
I don't know, do aerobics?
Speaker 2 (01:51:57):
Do aerobics? And one and two and three and one
and two?
Speaker 3 (01:52:01):
All right, Carrie Roads in the background there, Okay, what's
up everybody?
Speaker 2 (01:52:07):
Thank you for hanging out with us on this Sunday.
Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
As we are live at Fox Sports Radio wrapping up
this fourth of July weekend with.
Speaker 2 (01:52:15):
The all Pro safety Carrie Roads and me Monty Belanos.
But we're gonna wrap this up with a little bit
of fun. Why not?
Speaker 3 (01:52:24):
All right, a little Carrie on or off to end
our Sunday. If you've never heard this segment, I'm just
gonna ask carry whether he's.
Speaker 2 (01:52:31):
On board with things or not, basically is what it is, right, Okay,
Carrie on or off?
Speaker 3 (01:52:38):
Showing off your yacht is a bigger flex than showing
off a restaurant in your home.
Speaker 1 (01:52:46):
Ah.
Speaker 6 (01:52:48):
Well, if we're talking about the yacht, I'm thinking about,
it's better. It's better showing off the yachts. I'm gonna
be on on the yacht.
Speaker 2 (01:52:55):
Yeah right, bigger flex, yeah, yes, yes, yes, So carry
on herey on.
Speaker 3 (01:52:59):
Did you see Magic Johnson You know exactly what I'm
talking about. Magic Johnson's video of him on a yah
on that treadmill by himself, by himself.
Speaker 2 (01:53:07):
As it zoomed out, I was like, Okay, well he's
doing fine.
Speaker 6 (01:53:11):
I was like, he's doing okay for him, he's doing okay.
My brother literally sent me that video and I was like, no,
there's nothing. I've done that before. I've been on the
I was like feeling jealous. Sure no, it was like no, no, no,
that that's his shot. I was like, yeah, I have
not done that yet.
Speaker 4 (01:53:30):
So yeah, that's say. I pulled them back really quickly.
Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
Did you did you see the restaurant do where I'm
going with that, Tony Parker, Tony Parker's house, Yes, Finnando's
in there, twenty four to seven.
Speaker 8 (01:53:41):
Yeah, Nando's.
Speaker 4 (01:53:42):
I have not is it?
Speaker 15 (01:53:44):
Is?
Speaker 8 (01:53:44):
It so good? So freaking good.
Speaker 3 (01:53:46):
I went and looked at the menu because I was like,
oh what is this? And it does look good good,
it is good.
Speaker 2 (01:53:52):
Yeah, And twenty four to seven. I mean that's pretty baller.
Speaker 3 (01:53:54):
It does go back to Richie rich in the movie
where he has a McDonald's in his home.
Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
Very baller. I don't know that the commercials remember of
Davante Adams. Did he have a taco bell or was
that vague?
Speaker 3 (01:54:05):
It was commercials, It wasn't real. So Tony Parker, I
mean that's baller. But the yacht is the biggest flex possible.
Speaker 8 (01:54:14):
You could go at twelve o'clock and have Perry Prairie fries.
Speaker 3 (01:54:16):
And that's it's twenty four to seven, and that's what's
crazy about it. Yeah, amazing, amazing, And trust me, I
would take that as well. I would put a twenty
four hours something in my house all.
Speaker 2 (01:54:25):
The day, all day. Okay, Carrie, on or off?
Speaker 3 (01:54:27):
The idea that the fever are more dangerous without Caitlin Clark.
Speaker 4 (01:54:32):
Man, I'm so off that. I hate when people start
talking about that.
Speaker 6 (01:54:37):
You win a couple of games and you're better, You're
better off, You're better off having Michael Jordan's play baseball, Like, what.
Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
Are we doing?
Speaker 4 (01:54:44):
What are you doing?
Speaker 2 (01:54:45):
What are we doing?
Speaker 4 (01:54:46):
They're not better. The fever are not better without Caitlin
Clark stopping.
Speaker 2 (01:54:49):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (01:54:50):
ESPN analyst Carolyn Peck with that, after the fever beat
the Aces, No, the question is what's wrong with the Aces, Like.
Speaker 2 (01:54:57):
That's what you should have dove into and then the
fever lost to the Sparks. So your hold to stop,
just stop? Okay, Carrie?
Speaker 3 (01:55:03):
Are you on or off baseball fans being banned for
interfering with the damn ball?
Speaker 2 (01:55:11):
I am on?
Speaker 4 (01:55:13):
I am Carrie. I'm on that.
Speaker 2 (01:55:15):
That's right.
Speaker 6 (01:55:15):
Stay away from the ball if it's if it's a
question mark, do not put your hand out there to
try to catch it. We know it's coming to you clothes,
and that sometimes the reflex the reaction you want to
catch it, don't do it, hold your arm down, do
not let it get in the way.
Speaker 4 (01:55:31):
If you do, we'll see you later.
Speaker 3 (01:55:33):
I could not agree with you more if you were
on the edge of any of these areas where you
can catch a home run ball, stay out of the way.
Speaker 2 (01:55:40):
Are you five rows deep and there's really no chance?
Speaker 3 (01:55:42):
Go ahead, fight dove. I don't care, but when you're there,
I can't have no sympathy for you. There is a
Diamondback season ticket holder, Dave McCaskill, who was banned this week.
Speaker 2 (01:55:54):
Oh wow, but Carrie, listen, what do you have to say.
Speaker 3 (01:55:57):
I'm a Dbacks fan.
Speaker 7 (01:55:58):
I would never want to do anything there hurt the
d Backs or to have them lose the game.
Speaker 10 (01:56:02):
Uh. I have been ejected three times times.
Speaker 2 (01:56:08):
My guy? Three times? That is one too many. Who
is the Twitter page? 'ron Shay?
Speaker 8 (01:56:15):
It's from Megan.
Speaker 2 (01:56:16):
Meghan plane from Arizona has that video.
Speaker 3 (01:56:19):
And here's the thing the video, Carrie, his background is
hundreds of baseballs in a case.
Speaker 2 (01:56:25):
How tone deaf? You don't need another baseball. I have
no sympathy for you. Get out of here, be banned.
I it's the one thing where I'm just like, no,
ban him. He's season to get older. Banned for the
rest of the season.
Speaker 3 (01:56:37):
Probably they're gonna let him back eventually because it's not
a lifetime band.
Speaker 2 (01:56:42):
Three strike out, three strike. I have been ejected three times.
Get out of my face. Get out of my face?
All right, Carrie? Are you honor off? Dodgeball is one
of the most underrated movies.
Speaker 4 (01:57:00):
I'm off that.
Speaker 1 (01:57:01):
No, I do.
Speaker 6 (01:57:03):
I do appreciate Dodgeball, I really do. This's gonna be
a sound like a flex, but it's not. My friend
actually directed that movie.
Speaker 2 (01:57:11):
Shut up, but shut your face right now.
Speaker 4 (01:57:13):
I said it wasn't.
Speaker 2 (01:57:14):
I know it is, but that's your right there.
Speaker 4 (01:57:17):
If it was a flex.
Speaker 6 (01:57:18):
If it was a flex, I would support it because
of him. I'm just saying I think it's a little overrated.
Speaker 9 (01:57:23):
What I do.
Speaker 6 (01:57:24):
I enjoy it at times, but it's not something I'm
going to sit down and continue to watch over and over.
There's plenty other movies I feel that way about. That's
not one of them.
Speaker 2 (01:57:32):
Okay, No, I can't. We're not moving on for a second.
What what do you think is overblown about Dodgeball?
Speaker 4 (01:57:39):
Just I guess the the kind of cult following that
that that's surrounding it. It's it's a it's decent and
it's got some funny moments, but it's not memorable.
Speaker 3 (01:57:50):
Cult following with Dodgeball because I feel like I feel
like it doesn't it's not a dude, but I feel
like Mary, have.
Speaker 2 (01:57:59):
You said Dodgeball?
Speaker 8 (01:58:00):
Nope?
Speaker 2 (01:58:01):
Yeah, Okay, So that's my point. I feel like.
Speaker 3 (01:58:03):
Nobody is bringing it back up for the younger generation
to watch.
Speaker 2 (01:58:08):
So that's what I feel like, How is it still
not a thing that others are watching?
Speaker 16 (01:58:13):
Because Ben Stiller is so hilarious in From Top to bottom.
It's it's so good, Like I don't know how you
made that movie because I would be laughing the whole
time and the fact that Vince Vaughan and others had.
Speaker 2 (01:58:27):
To like keep a straight face.
Speaker 3 (01:58:28):
I appreciate the cuckooness of like half the cast, but
the other half, it's it doesn't feel like it's broken up.
Speaker 2 (01:58:35):
It's like they believe in this world, and they believe,
but somehow somehow the pirate, Like I can't good if
it's on I'm not moving like. It's one of those
for me. Wow, And I don't know many movies like that,
like Legally Blonde. Yeah, okay, legally Blonde. I won't leave it.
It's on love legally Blonde, but I'm not anticipating you.
(01:58:57):
Like Legally Blonde. I have Dodgeball, though I'm sitting I'm watching.
Speaker 3 (01:59:01):
If you could dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball,
and that, I think is how we wrap up the
show here, Carrie.
Speaker 2 (01:59:09):
I won't throw you a wrench. Carrie. We are about,
I think nine weeks away from the start of the
NFL season.
Speaker 6 (01:59:17):
Start of the NFL season, weeks away from the Saints
being the worst team in football show, and
Speaker 3 (01:59:23):
The Patriots being your dark horse tack Don't go Anywhere
