Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
What's up everybody? Thank you for hanging out with us
on this Sunday. Hope you're having a Yonick Cinner type
of Sunday New wimbled and Champion. I am Manti Bilanos
alongside former All Pro safety Carry Roads, who's also wearing
a cap with a goat on it.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Hey, sometimes you feel like an All Pro. Sometimes you don't.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Sometimes you feel like a goat.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
And today I felt like that a gay listen. I
like the look.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
I'm feeling that the white shirt with yes sir you
for that. No, I'm feeling that. I'm liking the look.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Yeah, you know what I had to I had to
switch it up right.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
So you know, you come on radio and you think
you're not being viewed as much as right as you
would normally get viewed.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
And then you see a video here, you see a
video and you.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Have a friend that says, you know what, I want
to buy you a shirt because you wear this this
this gray shirt.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
All the time on the show. I'm like, wait a minute,
stop clocking me. Number one. First of all, Number two,
I have.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Clothes, So I just wanted to bring out a little
bit more of the of the arsenal t I know.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
Exactly what you're talking about. I'm like, okay, yeah, I'm
just gonna go do a radios. I don't need to
worry too much about the way I look. And then
I see a video of myself and I'm like, this
is why you worry about the way you look on
any given day, any given Sunday. You gotta take care
of yourself. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
You come in here thinking, okay, radio is not a
visual medium until you realize it might be a visual meeting.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
Is it?
Speaker 2 (01:17):
Absolutely is? Now, It's so funny that you say that
somebody called you out on wearing the same shirt, because
it makes me think of our friend Steve Hartman, who
literally wears the same shirt. He might be listening right now, Sorry, Steve, it's.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Not I can hear him in the hallway.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
So he's definitely still talking here. He wears the same
shirt like every Saturday and every It's like.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
A uniform that the NFL cap too.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Yeah, Like he looks like Rob Low and that's the difference.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
Though.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
It is a uniform.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
And we know that, we know, yes, but for us,
we gotta we gotta step a little bit, a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
We're stepping it up again, just like Yannick Sinner dethroning
Carlos Alcorras today in Wimbledon. Did you watch that match?
Speaker 1 (01:52):
I didn't go.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
It always is good. It's them too, you know what
I'm saying, Like it's we're gonna see so much of them.
But Carlo Sacrass took the first set and then Cinner
won the next three, but they were all close at
the end.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
It was at the end.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
I think Carlo Sacrass was a little bit in the
last set. He was a little tired, a little tired,
you know what I'm saying. So give it up to
Janick Centner his first Wimbledon win.
Speaker 6 (02:14):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
Speaking of getting tired, I'm getting tired of Lebron James. Yeah, yeah,
you know what I'm saying. But at the same time,
I am loving what is happening here with the Lakers,
because obviously I hate the Lakers. I'm a Clipper fan,
So all of this is just great. Everything coming out
is just great.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
So you're more excited about the demise of the Lakers
than the Lebron And.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
I don't know if there is a demise because you
have Luka Doncic, right, So I don't know if it
demises the word, but the dysfunction, okay, that is the
Lakers right now with Lebron James on the team is
just you know, chef's kiss for me. No, no, There's
so many I could go into.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
No, no, no.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
I saw a tweet that said, yeah, for the first
time in Lebron's career, he's on the outside looking in.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
I was like, ooh, right, that's nice.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
I wonder if that hits because it's like, there's times
where I wonder if Lebron has somebody that tells him
the truth. You're a truth teller, Yes, you know what
I'm saying. You're a truth teller even if it hurts,
and you'll say it to the people you care about.
You won't say it to the people you don't care about,
but just the people you do. You're a truth teller.
And I think I am too, but you're more than
I am. I'm blunt and direct, but you're a truth
(03:24):
teller when it hurts. And I wonder if Lebron has
anybody around him that is not just a hype man,
that is somebody who's there to tell him the truth.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
He should.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
I know it's there. I think it's levels to it. Right,
He's he's so powerful and he's been so powerful. I
mean since he was eighteen years old, right, it's been
laid out for him, right, this is the blueprint, this
is what you need to do. You stick to this,
and whatever that thing was, he stuck to it. And
of course he's Lebron James now. So for somebody to
come in, I would hope that that would be his wife.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Hm mmm.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
I mean, you want to have a partner like that,
who's in your corner that can give you the real
right and I'm sure she does at home right now.
Outside of that, I don't know if there's anybody that
has feels they could do that to him.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
And that's tough.
Speaker 2 (04:11):
That is tough, and it's right because it's like if
you didn't have somebody doing this back then, to have
someone do it now, I don't know if it'll work.
You needed to have had someone the entire time. And
as much as like you know, like you said, since
he was eighteen, Lebron's career, like the fact that you
have been in the spotlight since you were eighteen and
have managed it, I would say successfully. I know here
(04:33):
we are splitting hairs of how you're handling the end
of your career with the Lakers, because you are lebron James.
But you've handled the spotlight. You've handled it really well.
No scandals that we know of. Maybe we'll find out later,
I don't know, but there's no scandal. A family guy
with his kids, he goes to watch them play whenever
he can. Didn't go to Bronni's first Summer League game
(04:55):
against Cooper Flag. We'll get into Cooper Flag in a second, too,
because I want I know your thoughts on now that
they're shutting him down after two games. But he right
now is trying to stay out of the spotlight. It
seems like he went to game two for Bronni didn't
have anything to say. But we did get a story
out of ESPN on the details behind the scenes of
(05:18):
how things have been going with the Lakers, and it
seems like it's not as roses and rainbows and puppies as.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
You would think puppies.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
But you've got little puppies in there. I have puppies
and kittens and all the good stuff, right, Yeah, you
gotta throw that in there. It seems it hasn't been
like that, and it's not super surprising, but it does
seem like this is happening in real time, right, it's
happening in real time. Other story that came out this
week that DeAndre ate in coming out and saying Lebron
(05:48):
has not texted me to say whatever, welcome to the Lakers,
but Luca did text him. Obviously that's a big story.
But I think it's safe to say, Carrie, which I've
kind of hinted, like him going to the Lakers was
a flop. Yeah, it was a mistake. Yeah, right, like
we could say that now here we are.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
He won, so we have to give him credit.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
He won the championship.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
But overall, I think it's been underwhelming underwell. So I
won't say it was a complete failure. Obviously. I mean
the fact that he's in the building. People are in
the building to watch him, so revenue has been great,
the team has won, and obviously it's been more I
guess questions than answers in this run for Lebron. But
I wouldn't say it's a failure. I will say it's
(06:36):
been underwhelming.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Underwhelming, Okay, not a failure.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Mistake for him and his legacy, for.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Him and his legacy. Yes, it is right. Yeah, like
it just seems like this is not what you thought
was going to happen here, and now here you are
with the Lakers clearly thinking of their future. With the
story with ESPN, I'll say, if you guys, you know
it's long, you can totally read it. But they talk
about how basic you know, they went and have done
everything for Luca the minute he got here, taking him
(07:04):
to dinner, telling him you are the future. You want
a center, we'll go get you a center, which was
Mark Williams. And it didn't work out. Yes, with Lebron
saying like eighty and I were telling you to get
a center and you never got us one. There's tension
here that's building up. And I really wonder if this
is what pushed Genie Buss to sell the Lakers, because
it's like I can't tell this guy to leave, but
somebody else can, because that I think came out of
(07:26):
nowhere and when you and I talked about that, and
so now there are stories that there's four teams that
have inquired about trading for Lebron. Clippers are one of them.
Lebron stay away from the Clippers. For the love of
my sanity, please stay away from the Clippers.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
I do say the same thing, stay away from Dallas.
Speaker 2 (07:42):
Stay you want to you want the same message, Yes, Dallas,
stay away from Dallas. Honestly, it's so messy, and I
just really wonder if Lebron has someone being real with him, like, Lebron,
let's leave your legacy on a completely different no, because
right now it's not a good one.
Speaker 3 (08:03):
Yeah, I don't think so, because if it was somebody
in his ear, if I was in Lebron's ear and
in his corner, I would just tell him to shut
it down, not not retire, but shut down everything around you.
The noise, right the podcast wouldn't be wouldn't be done.
Don't all the media, all the all the tweeting, all
(08:23):
the stuff that he's doing right now while he's playing.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Shut it down.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
There's been moments where, obviously in the playoffs, where he
does go dark on this on social media, he shuts
it down, and it's cool, like, you don't hear from them,
you don't see from him. You just actually get to
appreciate what he's doing on the court or not doing.
And I think that's what an athlete's job is but
for him. And we've talked about this when we talk
about the grades from the past. They didn't have a
chance to hurt their own their own legacy by you know,
(08:51):
using the gift of gab, right, they didn't have to
talk about it.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
They just went out and got it done.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
You could even say they were kind of effusive of
the praise, right like it just kind of did their work,
did their job, and sometimes they would have to clap back,
but that's part of it. But the mystique around them
and the things that the stories that would come out
about them could never be confirmed or denied because they
weren't saying anything. They weren't giving clues. And so I
(09:18):
think the mystique around that era makes us even now
still wonder about it and talk about it because it
was not in the limelight. If Lebron took that approach
with his career, the conversations we'd be having about him
right now would be so different, so different, and it
would be so much more praise for him. So if
somebody was in this corner, that would be If I
was in this corner, that would be my words for me.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
Yeah, it just sucks because it does seem like it's
a little too late for that if you have not
taken that approach. And I don't blame you. I don't
know what it's like to be a seventeen sixteen year
old when you're being told you're about to be the
best thing that's ever happened to the NBA since Michael Jordan.
I don't know, and so I give him a lot
of credit for the way he's handled it. But right now,
it does seem like step away, maybe go do Iowa,
(10:02):
iowas scat Iowa Scott, and like, really think about what
you want, Lebron. What do you want for the last
maybe year, year and a half of your career. It
doesn't seem like it's this. I feel like he's never
been told like.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
You're you're not it like your time running now.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Your time's running now, and if it is, then then
then stop all of this. Tell DeAndre Ayton congratulations on
joining the Lakers. We can't wait to win with you.
Like pick a side, though, but pick it now, because
in the off season, this is the time where you
should be building a little bit of chemistry, like you
should be hanging out. You know what I'm saying, I
know it's summer and you don't but pick a lane
(10:42):
and pick it soon, so that if you're gonna stay
with the Lakers, then the story is gonna change all right.
Here he comes to the Lakers, everyone's gonna change their tune. Oh,
he's very excited. We're very excited. We think we can
go far on the West. You're not, You're not because
the West is stacked. There is a chance. Obviously, you
have a chance. And that's what's crazy to me that
Lebron on and Rich Paul are out here saying like
(11:02):
he's thinking of his future because he wants a legitimate
chance to win. Okay, the Lakers are I don't think
are necessary. Let's say they stay all together. Right, they're
definitely not as stacked as you would say. Okay, see
you could even say, you know the Houston Rockets the
way they look. But it's Lebron and Luca like, you
(11:22):
have a chance, right, What are you talking about? So
I don't know what is is he playing? Who's gonna
bling first? Between he and the Lakers? Like are the
Lakers saying ask for a trade? Go ahead, ask for
a trade, We dare you? And is Lebron saying, well,
I dare you to trade me without asking what is it?
Even though he has a no trade clause. But you know,
like the minute that gets out that the Lakers want
(11:44):
to trade him, what is he gonna stand his ground
and say no. No, he doesn't want to be where
he's not wanted. That's his whole thing. He wants to
feel wanted. Yes, everyone does, but Lebron wants it a
little bit too much. He does a little bit too
much for how great he is. It's like, why do
you still want to be wanted?
Speaker 3 (11:59):
Yeah, because he's overstayed as welcome he's at all. When
you overstate in general, in general, when you overstay you're welcome,
you do look for that. You look for that, that
satisfaction of someone saying you belong. That's part of the
human like human psychology. So that is happening, but for him,
(12:19):
there is It's it's a it's a lose lose situation
at the moment, because you wanted to go to the Lakers, Lebron.
You wanted to do this, and you knew the challenge
that that was. You know, the greats that are there,
so you wanted to you know, kind of I guess,
integrate yourself in the pantheon of that of those greats
as well and show that you stack up. And I'm
sure that's part of the reason. Obviously there's other reasons
(12:40):
as far as him wanting to be in the entertainment
world as well, that was part of it as well.
So there was a tag team effort to make that happen.
You made it happen. Now, your time is running out,
and as a superstar, as a superstar, as an agent superstar,
time is undefeated. And when you wear that out, there's
no coming back from it. And I think that's where
you are right now, exactly.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
And I do think that if you were to leave
the Lakers. Now this is like we're again, there's so
much to this story, right, But I do think if
he left the Lakers, that's best case scenario for Bronnie, Like,
leave Bronnie alone, let him stay as a Laker, let
him develop and be a bench good role player for LA.
They need that. What have we noticed in the last
(13:21):
couple of years, specifically with the playoffs now in the NBA,
you need to have good players on your bench. Yes,
you can't just have none of them. Are scrubs. But
you know what I'm saying, you're in the NBA. You
need to have good players coming off your bench. In
order to have success.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
You got to have people on your bench to have
a skill set.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
That have a skill set.
Speaker 3 (13:38):
So whatever that skill set is, whatever you're trying to
I guess, manicure or kind of you know, fertilized. To
get to the potential that that player can get to,
they have to have one skill set and the bench
that makes them special. And we don't know if Bronnie
has that yet.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
We don't know.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
So we got to see, and we got to see.
Speaker 2 (13:55):
It's only his second year, and he does look better
in the summer league. It's summer league. I know I've
joked about it that it's like that means nothing, but
I do think it would help Bronnie if lebron just left.
It's like, go back to Cleveland. There's four teams apparently
that have inquired. Also, isn't that tampering? I'm very confused,
But whatever, Clippers, Mavericks, Warriors, Cleveland, go back to Cleveland.
(14:20):
That is the one where it won't matter, thank you,
where it won't matter what happens because you went back home,
you go anywhere else and you do not win, it
will be a failure. Yes, you have to win, Lebron.
If you stay with the Lakers, you don't have to win,
that's not If you decide to stay with the Lakers,
it's fine, but like, wrap it up, tell us you're
(14:41):
wrapping it up. Tell us this is the final year.
I'm gonna make my fifty million, and you know, we'll
see what happens and wrap it up. Before we talked
to our NBA insider Mark Medina, what did you make
of Cooper Flag's two games in Summer League. He struggled
the first game, shooting, shoot, just shooting, but he looked ready,
of course, like just the eye test. You were like, no,
(15:01):
this just put him right now in the NBA, like
Summer League. He doesn't need it and he's eighteen.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Yeah, the Summer League is hard too. You're not really
running sets. No, you're not running plays for your superstar.
You want to see if they can get it right,
and it's gonna be hard. All focus is on him. Obviously,
they're gonna stack it up and he's gonna have to
do the thing that he's not great at yet, which
is shooting. Threes, and that's pretty much what they made
him do. And so obviously when you look at the
box score and see the shot attempts. The crazy thing
(15:27):
about Cooper Flag is he isn't a volume scorer yet,
so shooting twenty one times for him probably felt uncomfortable
and you could see that he's more of a play
he's more of a play maker. He's the guy that
can get is. But I think right now, the best
thing that he's gonna be able to do for the
Mavericks moving forward is playing in space, getting the ball
off the break, running it, getting easy buckets, like he'll
(15:49):
score fifteen easily that way, and then you know he'll
develop his go to moves and all that. But as
far as being ready to play, he's gonna play hard.
He's gonna do all the things that he needs to do.
So for me, encouraged, and I'm even more incurags that
the Mapicks are shutting them down.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
We don't need to see anything. You're happy about that, absolutely?
Speaker 2 (16:04):
And is it because of his performance against the Spurs,
because he did shooted the ball way better at thirty
one points, But do you think that's what they were
waiting for? Like a game where he just seemed to
maybe feel a little bit more comfortable.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
Yeah, I think the plan, I think their plan would
be for him not to play as much anywhere. I
think he played so many minutes those first two games.
Speaker 2 (16:20):
He did over thirty minutes in both of that.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
I think even more than anything, that probably was the reason.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Right, All right, Well, I feel like Mark Medina, who's
been in Las Vegas watched, he's been there. I just
want to ask him, not what's necessarily happening on the court,
off the court, Paul George apparently did he not say
hi to Kawhi Leonard? What's going on? Don't go anywhere.
We're gonna talk to Mark Medina.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
Next.

not orange, it's hot, pea carry it's hot pink got
(17:56):
you know some men are like, it's orange. It's just
men don't look at pink and different colors.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
You know what rose colored glass?
Speaker 2 (18:02):
Rose colored glasses, That's what it is. But more importantly,
we've got our NBA insider, Mark Medina, who is in
Las Vegas for NBA's Summer League, chatting it up with us. Mark,
how's it going? Have you lost more money?
Speaker 1 (18:15):
How's it going?
Speaker 5 (18:16):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (18:18):
I'm saying I haven't lost money yet, but that is
going to probably change later tonight.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Mark, save it, Save it now, Mike, dave it.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
No, Mark, go to the roulette table just like you
and I like, go there and sit down and you
know what, have some fight.
Speaker 8 (18:33):
Oh my goodness, Well, how about that. I was talking
to Bernie Friday yesterday. He was telling me a recommendation
which number to put on? What numbers should I put on?
From you guys?
Speaker 2 (18:42):
You know what I'm going to say, twenty five? Carry
like twenty five. I like number twenty five for different reasons,
So why not put it on twenty five?
Speaker 8 (18:51):
I guess not put it on twenty three because that's
low stock for the braws days.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Right, No, you can put it on. They're both red,
so I think you can put on both and if
you hit red, listen, got you, I've got you. You can
just lay both.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Look at you guys are pros. You guys all the colors.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
And let me tell you what I do when m
in Vegas is rula? Okay, all right, Mark, so we're
let's dive into it. Cooper Flag. They've shut him down
after two games and NBA's Summer League, and I know
you did a whole story on him for sports Kita.
What have you seen? Are you shocked that they're shutting
him down? Is he just ready to go? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (19:24):
Not shocked that the Mavericks are shutting Cooper Flag down.
Usually what happened after the first two games. The teams
shut down the pro pro the top prospects, because they
don't want to put any risk whatsoever that any of
these guys might get hurt in a summer league game.
And you know, the first two games is enough for
them to just you know, get themselves going to get
used to basic runs plays, getting their russ, uh, shutting
(19:47):
some russ after not playing a lot of football since
their college season ended. But you know, talking to trainer
Matt McKenzie, he made it clear that if we're up
to Cooper Flags, he would want to play the entire
summer league because he wants to. You know, he loves
the hoop, but he wants to ingratiate himself as much
as he can with the Dallas Mavericks. I think the
other fascinating thing is it's summer league. These games don't matter.
(20:09):
So his poor shooting numbers in the opener five to
twenty one didn't necessarily mean anything, but he was really
really upset with himself. He wasn't worried about himself, he
was just really pissed off about it. And I think
that's a good sign for the Mavericks that they knew
that Cooper Flag is really talented and in so many
different areas, but he has that competitive juice said if
(20:31):
he has an off game, he's going to immediately talk
to his trainer, talk to coaches how can he get better,
and then try to apply to the next game.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Yeah, and I think the biggest thing that I saw
from that Mark from that first game is it's nerves too.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
I mean, you know, the.
Speaker 3 (20:46):
Anticipation from the crowd, the NBA community and everybody wanted
to finally get that froze glimpse of what Cooper Flag
can do. You come into that game with a little nerves,
but also you get to find out really quickly that
you're the focal point of the other teams scouting report,
even if there's no real scouting reports. I mean you
can tell the Lakers came out and double team double
team them and trapped them on the first on the
(21:08):
first screen EU. So just getting used to that, you know,
to that NBA level of physicality was it looked like
he needed that part of it for the first two games.
Speaker 8 (21:17):
Yeah, carry you're dead on Matt McKenzie and Cooper Flag.
They really assessed, as well as the Mavericks that his
shot for rush a little bit. Ye, they're speeding him up.
His conditioning wasn't the greatest, which is the common thing
for most rookies in summer league because one they haven't
played a competitive game since the NCAA tournament March. And two,
(21:39):
you know, just the speed a game, even in summer
league is just much different than college basketball. But you know,
I think the comforting thing is is that he can
rectify that in game two games later. He has the
motor motivation to turn things around. And to your point
that he was double teamed a lot, including opening tip,
(22:00):
that was actually a surprise that even stayed in because
they thought it's fricking summerly.
Speaker 9 (22:05):
But he's the number one pick.
Speaker 8 (22:07):
These guys are competitive. They want to show what they're
made of and give them a dose of physicality. And
the way Cooper Flag season, from what his trainer told me,
he views it as a sign of respect because he's
got the targets back and everyone wants to get a
piece of them.
Speaker 2 (22:24):
Mark, you were there, so what have you seen that
maybe we haven't seen on TV that is not happening
like with the games themselves. Did Paul George and Kawhi
Leonard really not embrace? Is Lebron James really just not
speaking to the media. What can you tell us you
were there? What have you seen?
Speaker 8 (22:42):
Yeah, first question, because I know you're concerned about your clippers. Yes,
Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, We'll have to look up
the dictionary of embrace. They shook each other's hand, but
it wasn't like warm and sentimental. It was respectful. There
wasn't a lot of small talk afterwards. Everyone just kind
(23:02):
of kept themselves. But there they weren't like antagonistic toward
each other, so there was a little bit luke warman between.
But Bron James I thought it was fascinating because he
went He wasn't the game for this for the Vegas
Summer opener, but he showed up last night to watch
Brownie play. He was really engaged with the game itself,
but he left with five minutes to go. Now, I
(23:25):
do get it from a logistical standpoint, most players leave
before the game ends because it's such a it's such
a circus to get out of the arena. But he's missing,
you know, a crunch time game where his son could
be a part of it. So, you know, Laker fans
had fun with that.
Speaker 9 (23:42):
But I didn't see.
Speaker 8 (23:44):
You know, it's a real thing. But as far as
like the body language interactions, there wasn't any interaction or
iciness toward the front office. Rob Polinka wasn't there, but
I know him past games. You know, his wife Savannah
sat next to Linda Rambis, who's you know, husband a
Kurt ram But so a lot of the Laker fans
that like to you know, read the tea leaves in
(24:04):
the soap operas, there releast was some indirect interaction between
the James family and the Lakers front office.
Speaker 3 (24:12):
Mark, I got a question for you. But obviously we
know the top guys that are going to be in
Summer League. We kind of highlight it. We want to
see those guys get on the court and see what
they're made of. But I want to know if there's
any guys that are under the radar that you've seen
that that you think can really have an impact this
year on an NBA roster.
Speaker 8 (24:30):
Yeah, on the Lakers coach Slider, he is a great shooter.
Now I'm a little bit biased. He comes from Syracuse,
so you know, the best goal in the country. But
he has shown, you know, he's a returning guy. He
was on the Lakers D League team as well as
training camp roster. But he has shown that he is
a really, really good sharpshooter. You know what, in today's
(24:51):
NBA you kind of need those players. I think he's
also rounded out his game a little bit more. I
don't know what that means moving forward. The Lakers do
have a history with them, so I want to be
surprised that he gets back on the training camp roster
and has an opportunity to be you know, end of
the rotation regular season players. So we'll see. But that's
(25:13):
that's one of those under the radar players that's caught
my eye for obvious reasons.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Mark, Yeah, I mean that's a that's a great choice.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
I want to also throw out the number fourteenth pick
in this draft with Carter Bryant. I know, like there's
not a lot of you know, he's not going to
be a high level NBA scorer right at the bat,
but he defends at a high level.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
He's athletic, and I think you could be.
Speaker 3 (25:32):
One of those guys that can be a constant, like
an annual three and D guy that gets paid in
his career.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
What do you think about him?
Speaker 8 (25:40):
Yeah, uh, he's impressed me with his defense, both at
the three and four positions. And I think when you're
looking at the NBA, even for guys that are picked,
you know, build the first round, eat, a lot of
their playing time currency is going to be on defense.
It's not going to be on scoring, because those roles
are carved out for your star players. And I think
(26:00):
he has arguably not a better opportunity than the lottery picks,
because there are a lottery picts for a reason, but
a great opportunity to be a consistent rotation player because
he's going to be asked to be the guy that
defends top wings and fours, and the fact that he
is defensively versatile at both of those positions, you almost think, Okay,
(26:21):
that's going to double your playing times, so that helps
you on the court, doesn't ruffle feathers with some of
the star players. But also I think it decreases any
chance of making mistakes. I mean, yes, of course, you're
never going to shut down any top score. You might
mess up on rotations, but typically there's a lot more
mistakes made offensively with misshots turnovers than there are with
(26:44):
defensive assignments.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
We are talking to our NBA insider Mark Medina, and
you're listening to Fox Sports Sunday with Carrie Rose on
Monte Bilano's Mark. Last one for me here that we
just saw that the Denver Nuggets have acquired Jonas Valenchuna
from the Kings in exchange for Dario Sarich. Is this
something that maybe keeps Nikola Jokic happy? Is this Are
(27:10):
these the moves that you think the Nuggets need to
do in order to keep their superstar happy.
Speaker 8 (27:15):
Yeah, it's all connected. I mean it's not like Yonas
Valentiunas is a complete game changer. But when you're looking
at the Nuggets entire offseason, they trademark er Mike Yeah, yeah,
great score, but inconsistent shooter, not a great defender, took
up a lot of caps face. They got Cam Johnson,
(27:37):
great two way player. They get Bruce Brown with a
critical three and D player on their championship team in
twenty twenty three. They want to be able to keep him,
but they just couldn't. From a Valerie Caps standpoint, and
now valentiunis, I don't think he's going to be playing
significant minutes because the kol Jokich is a starting center.
(27:57):
So Jonas Valentiunas is really great all boxes that you
want to set it. He's very physical, he's a great passer,
even though he's that burly type of big man that
can dominate the post. He also has a little bit
of a stretch five in him about because of his
shooting range. Great international player, So yeah, I think it's
(28:18):
a really good backup center option or Nikolejokic, so that
you know the bulk of minutes and responsibility isn't always
on him, and maybe they can shafe some minutes throughout
the regular season so he is as fresh as can
be in the playoffs. What this all means, I still
think it's the Thunders as a favorite to run it back.
I think the Houston Rockets have a better chance of
(28:39):
challenging them because you had Kevin Durant, Aman Thompson, Alprinston
and Gon Bred van Vliet great, great, defensive oriented team.
But the Nuggets are right there, I think at third.
And you know, as long as you have a healthy Nikoliokic,
that's going to be an MVP candate once again, and
some good, reliable options alongside him, they have a punch
of chintz.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
All right, well, well you heard that. Mark. Thank you
so much for hanging out with us on this Sunday.
Go enjoy summer League, Enjoy Vegas. Go put money on
the left table. Don't listen to carry.
Speaker 8 (29:14):
I'm going to cross my fingers. I have a puncher
shit at the left table. If it doesn't work, I'll
just blame.
Speaker 10 (29:19):
It on Monday.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Go ahead, I'll take the blame, no problem. I've been
catching strays all day. Thanks Mark. You guys can follow
Mark Medina on Twitter x Mark g underscore Medina. We'll
talk to you soon. Thank you. All right, he left
you hung up on him? Okay, bye, okay bye bye
o h. He's like I already took him off. I'm
talking to him right now. All right, let's check what's
(29:41):
going on in the world of sports with chrispher Pett
doing double duty today.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
Christmas always Yes, let's get you caught up a little
bit of a baseball scoreboard because it is going to
be ending soon. We are almost the All Star break,
no night game. Everything is in action right now. Marlin's
smacking around the Orioles a bit eleven to one bottom
of the eighth thinning their braves and Cardinals are in
a rain delay near the top of the fifth.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
That score as we leave it there three to one.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
Dodgers with a two run lead over the Giants right
now top of the seventh inning, including Miguel Rojas's.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Home run in that game.
Speaker 4 (30:14):
Earlier, Mariners sweep the Tigers eight to four to close
out their series, heading into the All Star Break holding
their heads a bit high. Red Sox defeat the Rays
four to one. Earlier today, the NFLPA Executive Committee put
out a statements to membership showing support for Executive Director
Lloyd Howell, Junior, denying that is asking him to resign.
(30:35):
Issues have arisen earlier this week with a report that
Howell is working as a part time consultant for private
equity firms seeking NFL ownership, which is a conflict of
interest and has cast shadow over the confidentiality agreements over
arbitration of collusion that the NFLPA is reportedly seeking now
to appeal Yannick Sinner defeating Carlos Alcaraz in four sets
(30:58):
at Wimbledon to win his first Wimbledon title. And the
Club World Cup has gone final, Chelsea stunning and crushing
howr sar Germaine three nil, so they take that one
home in New Jersey, Monsey and Carrie back to you.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
Thank you, Chris. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Be
sure to check out the Fox Sports Radio YouTube channel.
There's tons of great videos from many of our Fox

(31:34):
that gray shirt that has friend called them out on
every single time. We promise you that. On the other
side of this two people in New York that are
too hot to handle. What do I mean? We'll dive
into that. This is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (31:47):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
What's up? Everybody? Happy Sunday? Thank you for tuning in.
Hanging out with all pro safety carry roads and myself
months blanas. Here I got five on.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
It, you got five on it?
Speaker 2 (32:04):
I got five on the relette table.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
Oh my god, here we go again. Yeah, here we
go again.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
Are you by lead at five dolls in your pocket
and get you a little zack fruit talk?
Speaker 2 (32:14):
Or they're more expensive than that. Typically healthy food is
more expensive.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
That is those some rookie numbers these days in Vegas.
I'll pump those up numbers.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
Listen, I'm not putting five. If I can find a
Relett table for a five dollars minimum, I'm not moving.
But it's no longer five dollars. It's now ten fifteen,
and I get crazy. I go all all the numbers.
I'm like, oh here one hundred on black.
Speaker 1 (32:35):
Oh yeah, this is me around cress. Oh yeah no.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
And I'll play craps too. I'm not very I don't
know it that well.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
So as long as it's like a whole culture of it, right, yes, yeah.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
And it is easier if two pretty girls show up
to a craps table asking for help. So that's what
I usually do with my girlfriends. Oh and then they
help us, because I truly don't know. But Aside from that,
you'll find me at the roulette table or plane, black Chuck,
and you.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
Will find me on the couchs with a blanket over
up to my neck.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Exactly. No, that's illegal. I can't. I think, yeah, accounting
cards or something. Two people in New York that I
am saying are too hot to handle. We'll start with
Aaron Judge, because your guy three hundred and fifty career,
the fastest to do it. He keeps. Weeks ago, you
(33:25):
and I talked about cal Rawly giving him a run
for his money with already early MVP talks, al MVP talks,
and it was like, no, like he's gonna continue to
do things, and he has been, and here he is
delivering once again. Yankees loss to the Cubs today. But
Aaron Judge just had a walk off sackfly like two
(33:47):
days ago, right or something like that, and then reaches
three hundred and fifty career home runs, the fastest out
of any player in history. But it does feel now
you're a Yankee fan, tell me if I'm wrong. It
may feel to me right now that the Yankees are
not handling their superstar well, because I feel like they
did release DJ Lemayhew. We talked about that that they
(34:09):
wanted to keep him in the lineup because of his bat,
but it was affecting your overall lineup with defense, so
they took him out. I I feel like they're not
doing right by him because they're letting a couple of
players have too many chances in order to perform when
you were I'm not gonna say specific.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
Name where you're going.
Speaker 2 (34:33):
You see where I'm going? Do you disagree? Am I
looking at this from just a baseball fan, not a
Yankee fan? Tell me I'm wrong about that?
Speaker 3 (34:43):
Well, listen, the Yankee fans will probably agree with you.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Okay. Me as a player, I.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Get you.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
A player, I'm a little reluctant to say the time
is run out on said player and you, guys, I'll
throw it out. Destin's manest not she's talking about Anthony
Vopie here. I would assume Anthony Vopie has his moments.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
And he's been a while since that.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
Moment, yeah for sure, for sure.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
And he's a young player, and he's been the guy
that they wanted to bring in as the quote unquote
era apparent to second baseman, the captain Derek Jeter because
that position has always been kind of hard to kind
of you know, and I guess replace yeah, And you know,
he's been that middle middle infield of guy that they
wanted to be that guy, and he's not lived up
(35:32):
to it. And when you don't live up to it,
especially in the position that he is in in all actuality,
they would want Vope to.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Be the leadoff guy.
Speaker 9 (35:41):
Right.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
He's a guy that's athletic, he can get on base,
he can cause havoc if he does that.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Of it.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
But he is not consistent and so that hurts. But
as far as not being able to, you know, do
right by Judge, I won't say that's the case because
Judge has to step up in the playoffs as well,
because they've had opportunities. So not gonna laying on them
not doing enough for him. I'm gonna say things just
all need to click together for them to be successful,
and I don't and that just hasn't happened yet.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Just it just has not happened. It does seem I
agree with you. Like Volpi has had his moments, he
really has, and it's been more than moments. Last year
he was really great and he was part of the
big part of the Yankee success. But it does seem
like when one person is clicking, the others aren't. Like
the clicking just isn't just happening all together. And maybe
this break is perfect for the Yankees right now, coming
(36:31):
into the All Star break, and maybe they'll they'll get
it together. So you you you're still no Yankees are
still doing right by Aaron Judge, He's good, you know,
it's just obviously Aaron Aaron Judge will always be a Yankee,
right like, there's like, you don't trade him. There's not
gonna be an Neico Harrison situation here, right like you
every chance I get, I'm.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
I don't think that will happen. But again, yeah, crazier
things about it.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Crazier things have happened, all right. Okay, you you are
still all all for what the Yankees are doing? Okay, good,
good good. Another person that in New York that is
too hot to handle apparently is Livy Dunn. Do you
hear about this about the Babe Ruth apartment that she
tried to buy with full cash? And the board ops
are like the people that are in charge of that
(37:19):
area or whatever you want to call them, denied her
friend not so fast. I am having a hard time.
Is it because she's too hot, Like I'm having a
hard time understanding, hence the too hot to handle? There
you go, I'm having a hard time understanding. I was
saying this to our producer Shay. There is nothing about
her that we have seen she's super famous on social media,
(37:41):
that she's some sort of like wild girl that's gonna
come and disrupt everything. Yeah, in fact, she seems like
the exact opposite of that. So I don't, I don't.
I'm having a hard time trying to make me understand
why she was denied the keys to Babe Ruth's apartment.
She's from New Jersey and also seemed like a push
where maybe the Yankees would be acquiring Paul's schemes. I'm
(38:05):
just saying, like, New Yorkers, what are you doing stopping
this move?
Speaker 3 (38:09):
You know what I would say? And this again, this
is just my own thoughts. I have no end in
this game, right.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
That's the game.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
It's too much noise, there's too much that follows her.
She's very much in the scene. Wherever she goes, there
is attention, there is a media draw, and I would
think an old school classic Babe Ruth apartment, Like I
feel old school. I feel like there's an older, maturer
(38:37):
like mature residents, a group of people in that situation.
So they would probably see it as this influx of
not just her, but others like her, like younger, like
a younger crowd moving into that building. So I would
feel that they want to keep that away, and that
would be my only reason. I don't think there's anything
(38:58):
bigger than that, right.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
You know what I'm saying, Like there's she's always on
social media, she's at the Pirates games, but there is
no scandalous sturtle that she's this wild girl. Her and
Paul Skins seem very like I know they're not, but
almost normal people, just in the spotlight at their age.
This is a two bedroom, two and a half bathroom
apartment listed for one point almost six million that apparently
(39:22):
she was gonna pay in cash, And so you're stopping,
I guess, this younger generation, But until how long? Because
the younger generation's coming. They're coming. And if you think
about it, honestly, what if, like Paul Skeens does become
a Yankee and then he'll always remember y'all did not
let us come and live here. Who is the perfect
person to take off of Babe Bruce apartment aside from
(39:44):
sho hey o Tani, it should be Paul Skins, like
you got, I'm so confused by this. There are so
many good layers to the story of what it could
have led to. And again, immediately when that happened, it
was like, Oh, Paul Skeens, the Yankees, the Pinstrups, is
this was happening.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
That's that's where your mind, That's.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
Where my mind went. How did that mind not go there?
Why is she looking at this apartment and it's not
a huge one again, two bedroom, two and a half
bauts So it's not like this is something for for
her and Paul Skins.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
I don't know. It's it's it's that one's above my
pay grade.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
This is how flabbergasted I was by all this. I
just I just did not understand because I thought it
was such a perfect story to set up the future
of where Paul Skins might go and even if he
didn't go there, who better to take over Babru's apartment
than Paul damn Skeens.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
But it wasn't Paul.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
All right, Listen, on the other side of this. It
is time to take accountability. Who am I talking to?
Don't go anywhere, you'll find out. Oh what's up? Everybody
Happy Sunday? Thank you for tuning in and hanging out
with Carrie Rhodes in eye on this. Yannick Sinner Wimbledon
Championships Sunday, his first one. I mean, like, how great
(41:01):
was that? I just I watched tennis and I think
it's one of those sports that you don't need to
understand how to play the game, but you can understand
the level of intensity. Oh yeah, immediately.
Speaker 11 (41:12):
You know.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
It's crazy right now?
Speaker 3 (41:13):
The thing about Janick Center and I think moving forward
with his career and it's all the accomplishments that are
heading his way, there's always gonna be some people in
the background that's not rooting for him because of the
doping scandal. I don't forget about that. The positive test
uh huh uh huh.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
Curious Cairo, darn it. He is a tennis player and
I can't remember where he's from. And he actually tweeted
after the win, just a little star, just a little asterisk,
And that's exactly Cairo's Yeah, who also has had his
(41:54):
own controversy on the Tennis Core because he's a little
bit vulctross and a little bit like has talked back
and like talked you know, small to fans and whatnot.
But he did tweet a little asterisk right after. I mean,
that whole thing is super interesting that he was able
to get away and like maneuver that situation the way
that he did. I guess Chris wants to say something. Yeah,
(42:20):
go ahead, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
I think it's curios curious.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
Yes, thank you, thank you. But speaking of im, sorry, Christy,
maybe was my trying of thought and I had such
a good transition he started waving and I lost it. Anyway,
moving on here to the topic to start the show.
Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant, NBA player who's been around a
(42:43):
long time. He's been around for a long time, likes
to talk a lot of smack on social media lately,
and I'm I'm all for that to be honestly. He
cracks me up. He cracks me up. But he was
recently on The Mind podcast with Lebron James and Steve Nash,
and he had some things. He said a lot of things,
but one of the things that stood out to me
that I like can't I can't get over is he
(43:06):
talked about the Thunder's success while he was there, and
let's just hear what he had to say with the Thunder.
Speaker 12 (43:15):
I think we exceeded expectations with that team. And when
you reach the finals and you go through a run
like that so quick, I don't think a GM or
owner was ready for that. You expecting the team that's
twenty two to twenty three to you know.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
She's sped up the timeline.
Speaker 12 (43:30):
She sped up the timeline all of us, you know,
each gender, individual player, Serge, you didn't know like he
came out of nowhere. He came out here being the
best shot blocker in the league. I'm averaging thirty at
twenty one years old, Russell was twenty two years old,
is an All Star James six man at twenty like,
so we exceeded the timeline. So they wasn't ready for that,
and I don't believe That's just my theory. I don't
(43:51):
know exactly what Sam was thinking or the owner, but
my theory is that I don't think they were ready
exactly for us to be contenders every year.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
I don't think they were ready in all of this?
Where was the eye was not ready? I did not
handle that three to one lead we had over the Warriors. Well,
I did not do well in the twenty eleven twenty
twelve finals, where you know they lost it. In the
following year, Harden gets traded. Where was the I in
(44:23):
all of this? I understand what he is saying of
like being young and maybe not understanding the moment right,
But to say, the front office, the owner, Sam, they
didn't know how to handle it. It's been so long, Carrie.
(44:45):
I just want some accountability from the man that is
Kevin Durant, who we think one of the greatest scorers
of of all time can still score. I mean, look
at the Rockets literally were like, we want that guy.
Lebron's over here. Nobody wants them, Katie, everybody want some
because he's still an effective scorer. Yeah, where where is this?
I didn't like this, especially because okay, see just one
(45:08):
with a really young squad, a really young squad, and
who was the voice of reason there shake Gil Just
Alexander at twenty six years old.
Speaker 3 (45:18):
Yep, yeap, No, you know what I had mixed. I
had a mixed feeling about this. Uh, this topic until
you just said it that way, and you're right, you're right,
it's been so long, you're right, like take some account
accountability for sure. I mean again, he is accurate and
speeding up the timeline. I don't think a lot of
us thought that they would compete at that time the
(45:40):
way they did that West was loaded at that time.
You had the Spurs, you had the Mavericks, the Lakers
at that time where you know those, Yeah, they were
the perennial guys. And then this young OKC team hops
into the fray and you have these guys Kevin Durant,
Russell Westbrook, James Harden as your sixth man, and then
you have it. It was fun to see. It was
great basketball. It was actually when you look at OKC now,
(46:02):
it was almost an exact exact image of what that
was like. They were fun, they were young. It seemed
like an AAU type of thing, and they didn't get
it done. Talking about Kevin Durant knows guys. And then
you bring on this band of brothers, same type of energy,
same type of environment.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
They win.
Speaker 3 (46:22):
Obviously, competition matters, and it was different. Would that OKAC
team win this year?
Speaker 1 (46:28):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (46:29):
So when you I think of it that way. That's
why I was like, I'm not so fast, so like
put the blame on him. But then what you said, though,
there is a time where in this media era, you
feel like you have to come out and speak.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
For yourself more than you should. Yeah, and so you're
not taking the accountability.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
And that part of it does suck because they I mean,
if he comes out and says, you know what, I
just didn't get it done at the time, the respect
that we would have for him would be so high it.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
Would absolutely change the whole conversation.
Speaker 3 (47:04):
And I don't understand why they don't get that now,
but I do because you have to come out against
all these other people that are saying all these negative
things about you as a player, and it's so many
been used to do that in so many ways to
do that that you feel that.
Speaker 1 (47:19):
You have to stick up for yourself.
Speaker 3 (47:20):
But I'm old school and I agree with you, like,
take accountability, take.
Speaker 2 (47:24):
A care And it's like, I'm not denying what you
just said about that OKC team and the strength of
the West at the time versus this time. Sure, of
course I get all that, but it's like we are
so far removed from that that at this point, why
not just look at it. You were at the finals
in twenty eleven, twenty twelve that season, and then three
(47:47):
four years later you were back in the conference finals
against the Warriors where you were up three to one,
like you were there every single year, and you did
lose to teams that were better than you, but you
also just did it deliver at the moments you needed to.
Speaker 1 (48:01):
That three one? Is that three and one? That's the one.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
That's the one, right, not the one right after that
or before they traded Harden.
Speaker 1 (48:08):
Yeah, they weren't going to be the heat.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
They weren't going to be the heat.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
That's the one.
Speaker 3 (48:11):
Yes, if they win that one, everything's forgotten in this
whole conversation because I think they would have won it
that year. Obviously, that's the one. And then you lose
to that team and you joined the team and next
year that's the part the team.
Speaker 2 (48:25):
Yeah, and then so and he said, you know, like
I again, Kevin Durant, and he's like Grants on social
media right now, crack me up, defend yourself, fight with
whoever you want. I get it. But in this where
we are removed ten years from this event, how have
you not maybe gone back and reassessed how you handle that.
(48:47):
I also feel like he missed an opportunity to give
a really good message two young players of reaching success
too early and taking it for Grantedifican like this was
a message opportunity.
Speaker 1 (49:01):
Here because they're defending themselves.
Speaker 2 (49:03):
Because he's defending themselves and deflect blame to the front office.
I'm sorry, is the front office on the court with
you playing?
Speaker 9 (49:09):
No?
Speaker 1 (49:09):
No, no.
Speaker 2 (49:10):
I don't even know if they're at the game. Maybe
they're in a suite watching you. But that's another I
was like, you missed a great opportunity, Hey, Cooper flag
you coming into the Mavericks in a situation where it
looks like you guys may have success. Learn to figure
that out early on. So many missed opportunities here in
this Okay, see discussion that he brought up on the
(49:32):
mind with Lebron James and Steve Nash, and.
Speaker 3 (49:35):
You said something like this is the wrong time. Yes, okay,
see just one.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
The young squad or the young squad, we're chut home.
Grin shattered. His wasn't near his ankle. I don't remember.
Remember he didn't play his first rookie year had to
take a whole year off then decided to actually come
not decided, but was actually able to play like all
of the lack of experience the early success oh case
literally went through that right now, and they were able
(50:04):
to prevail going to seven game series more than once.
When they were tested. They were tested, even though the
strength may not have been the same of the teams
back then. It just seemed like the wrong time. It
seems like a missed opportunity to actually actually talk to
the young players coming into the league, and then a
(50:25):
missed opportunity to also change people's opinion about you.
Speaker 3 (50:29):
I agree with you. I agree with you. It was
a missed opportunity. I like that missed opportunity, missed opportunity.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
And then you do it next to Lebron James, which
is just like missed opportunity.
Speaker 11 (50:42):
The King.
Speaker 2 (50:43):
Wow, I've never heard you call him the king exactly. Wow.
Look at we're all growing up here.
Speaker 1 (50:51):
Not really yeh.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
Lebron stopped doing the podcast, which is what you said
last hour, stay away from the podcast for hot second,
and Kad just I don't know, man, like think about
it again and maybe maybe bring this up again and
just take some accountability, because no one's ever gonna forget
that you joined the Warriors after losing when you were
up three to one. No, we're never gonna forget that.
Speaker 1 (51:17):
And even ball no wars, No, we know that.
Speaker 3 (51:23):
Him joining the Golden State Warriors, that is the reason
the Golden State Warriors won as well.
Speaker 1 (51:26):
It's not like he was going along for the ride.
So we're not saying that.
Speaker 3 (51:29):
No, just a decision to leave that team when you
had the winning formula and he just couldn't get it done.
Speaker 2 (51:36):
You couldn't get it done, And it sounds like you're
blaming the front office because they didn't know how to
handle your success, right, That ain't it, Katie? That ain't it?
Missed Opportunities on the Mind podcast with Lebron and Steve
Nash gets it. Yes, we are on the watch still.
(51:58):
We don't know what he's doing, but he's doing his
podcast that we know for sure. We are so close
to the first NFL game, Carrie, so preseason, yeah, preseason, preseason.
We might as well dive into it with our NFL
insider Adam Kaplan next, So don't go anywhere. It's Fox
Sports Radio. What's up? Everybody Happy Sunday. Thank you for
tuning in on This is July, middle of summer, getting
(52:22):
ready for the MLB All Star break. I motzie bolados
all pro safety carry roads here hanging out with you
in the building. Are you gonna watch the MLB All
Star Game or the Home Run Derby?
Speaker 1 (52:37):
Negative?
Speaker 2 (52:38):
Neither the game? Yes, you like the You like the game,
but not the home run Derby.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
Nonmotle bit older, you're.
Speaker 2 (52:44):
A little bit over it. I do feel like the
MLB All Star Game is the one that's still quote
unquote matters because they're still pride like the overall score.
I don't think they care. But you know, Trek Skoubel
is gonna go try and strike out whoever he's at
(53:04):
the plate.
Speaker 3 (53:04):
That's the point. It's still it's a game of scale. Yes,
like you have to like you're never trying to embarrass
yourself when you're at the plate taking a swing. Never,
And if you're a pitcher, you're trying to get that
person now you're not there trying to serve up some
meat balls. No, No, it's it's still it's gonna always
be competitive.
Speaker 2 (53:23):
It's always competitive and again not the final score, but
the matchups.
Speaker 1 (53:26):
One on one.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
You're like, oh, who is Jacob Mizerowski gonna go pitch to?
I want to watch this guy. I hate that. It is.
My biggest complaint is that you're gonna get one inning
out of the pictures you want to see the most.
Of course, that's what sucks. I mean nothing, that's not
gonna change anytime soon, because you know, so many pitchers
are held back from the All Star Game because of
(53:50):
the schedule. Oh, they just pitch. We want them to
pitch this day, whatever, whatever, whatever. But one inning is
usually what you're gonna get when it comes to the
MLB All Star Game. Jacob Mizerowski, you know who that is? Okay,
all right, okay, so Jacob Mizerowski, let me let me
tell you. He's a Brewers pitcher and has pitched five
(54:10):
games and was put on the All Star Game. What five?
Oh he's good, he's good.
Speaker 1 (54:18):
Well he's you said natural.
Speaker 2 (54:21):
Yeah, and we'll we'll dive more into that. But we
have our NFL insider almost coming up right now, gotcha,
there we go, Jacob Mizerowski. Let me finish this time.
I thought, I oh, my bad. Five starts and was
added to the roster and Nick Castellanos had a comment
or two. Some of the Phillies players had a comment
or two saying that he didn't deserve it and that
(54:43):
hit their teammates maybe deserved it, And I get that
to an extent, But like MLB is doing right by
putting this guy in there. He's a young star. Five
starts carry but I mean, like, I think he has
like fifty strikeouts, Like, yeah, we're talking about is there
going to be a player to reach three thousand strikeouts.
It's gonna be him.
Speaker 1 (55:03):
It's going to be that guy.
Speaker 2 (55:06):
And so you know, don't worry, guys, He's gonna play
maybe just half of an inning though, because he's like
the loud you know what I'm saying, like one of
the end ones. But you know, MLB All Star Break
means we're getting closer to the start of the NFL season.
So we do have our NFL insider Adam Kaplan Adam,
How are you happy? Yannick Sinner wins Wimbledon Day?
Speaker 9 (55:28):
Yeah, guys, good to talk to. Yes center, he got
to John Dunnelly choked that first set he did, he
came back and he was powerful. Yeah. It's really interesting
because if you remember the last time they played. When
throwers up two sets to zero, then he choked, Yeah,
that had to be on his mind, had to be
and he gave the guy credit for closing. To doubt.
Speaker 2 (55:50):
Absolutely, And it's just exciting because that's not the last
time we'll see them. We're going to see a lot
of those two going at it, So it's very exciting.
We are getting closer, though, to the start of the
NFL season. The worst thing I want to start with
you is, what is this whole thing collusion between NFL
owners and the NFLPA. This seems really bad, Adam.
Speaker 9 (56:12):
Yeah, well, look the fact that the NFLPA did not
release the results to the players and they really were
not consulted. It's just it's just really odd. There's a
lot of finger pointing on this one, but that can't happen.
Speaker 2 (56:31):
Yep.
Speaker 9 (56:32):
And let's not forget the CBA is enough is not
up till March of twenty thirty one. So now, look,
both sots could really could renegotiate earlier than that and
get the ball started over the next couple of years.
But it's not just guaranteed money. Yes, that's a big deal,
which the players have never fought really hard for There's
(56:53):
so many things that they want, they want, they've discussed,
did not get, and then they settled the last CBA
a little a little faster than I expected, to be
honest with you. And then the one was the most
contentious of that I could remember. That one was really
ugly for both sides. But in the end that the
owners won that one, there's no question about it.
Speaker 3 (57:14):
I want to switch. I want to slide over at him.
I want to go to a guy that quietly announced
his retirement a couple of days ago, and dumbakin two obviously, Uh,
A big time player, a player that has some success.
Do you think he will be a Hall of Famer
when it's all said and done, because it's it's it's
I think it's a little bit of a question mark there.
Speaker 9 (57:37):
Yeah. I don't think so surprised Karty makes it. Yeah,
Colin player, no doubt. The fast thing for me is
he was never quite there for the turnaround. Yeah. He
did make the playoffs once with Jim Schwartz, that Dallas game,
you know, in the playoffs, which is controversial, but they
never really were able to get to what they have
in the last three years, which has been quote one
(58:00):
of the best turnarounds the National Footall League it's seen
in decades, and it's just a shame that he wasn't
around for it. But a very good football player, no doubt,
a great bother way ate, even better college player at Nebraska.
Speaker 1 (58:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (58:10):
No, I'd be very surprised if he gets serious Hall
of Fame to them.
Speaker 2 (58:16):
As we get ready for the start of the season, Adam,
there's a couple of free agent receivers that I'm wondering
what you think if there's a market for them. So
I'm going to give you three names and you break
it down how you want wide receiver Amari Cooper, Keenan Allen,
and Chase Claypool. Is there a market for one to
all three of them? What do you think is going
(58:36):
to happen?
Speaker 9 (58:37):
Yeah, Claypool had an injury, but Claypole never worked out
as a secondraft pick with the Steelers, and then the
Bears made a fullest trade which didn't work out. It's
been a big disappointment. Now he's much younger than the
other guys. Keenan Allen right now is near the end
of his career. He could be a slot receiver for
a club. Mark Cooper could still play. He had. He
(59:00):
had a wrist injury with the Bills. He just did
not stay healthy. He did not give them what they
want up wanting and needing. But he could still play.
There's no doubt. It's just amounta does he want to play?
Keenan Allen for what I understand, does want to play
unless he changes his mind. Now, if you're Teenan Allen
and you're near the end, you should wait to sign
with a team that's got a chance to get a ring.
(59:23):
He might as well wait. See that, to me is
what's very unique about the NFL opposed to other teams
other sports, where you see us a lot guy in
mid thirties knows he's in the twilight of his career.
By the way, Dominican Sue did this three years ago,
the Eagles ball run out of the blue. Him and
(59:43):
Lenevell Joseph signed like the same week, around the same week,
and they have the Eagles are really decimated d tackle
for death and he helped those He helped the Eagles
that season. So I'm not saying he has to wait
to October, but it would behoove him just to wait
until he gets an opportunity with a really good team.
Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
Well, I want to switch to the Bears here. I
mean they just signed general manager Ryan Poles to an extension.
I've been seeing a lot of this happening where there
are the teams are trying to align the gms with
the head coaches and their tangers. What do you think
about Ryan Poles? I've been kind of up and down
on him, But what are your thoughts? And I think
NFL thoughts on him?
Speaker 9 (01:00:19):
Kerry, Yeah, I would agree with you. And that's what
you mentioned is exactly why this happened. So I'll tell
you a story. So very early in my career, I
had a pretty significant report about Still Savage did Browns
general manager? I think it was Still Savage. I'm going
back a couple of decades, but I'm pretty sure it's
Still Savage have a longer contract than Romeo Cornella brownside coach.
(01:00:41):
And it got it, you know, myself and some others
put it out. And once that gets out, it makes
it real uncomfortable with the general manager and the head coach. Now,
I'm assuming agent Dan knew this, that he knew his
client's contract status, but he may or may not have known.
Speaker 8 (01:00:59):
Phil Savages and you want align it the same. It's
very comfortable because think about it, if.
Speaker 9 (01:01:05):
The GM comes in before the head coach and he
didn't kick him. Now in this case pulls his choice
as Ben Johnson to be clear, but he also only
had a couple of years left on the Steel, So
now they're going to be Concurrent's actually very important carry.
I don't know you. I don't know how you saw
it as a player, but if you know your head
(01:01:26):
coach is Elaine Dack or the GM had a much
lover contract, I don't know how you would have react
about it a little bit awkward?
Speaker 1 (01:01:33):
Yeah, no, no, for us.
Speaker 3 (01:01:35):
A lot of times, I think that that matters when
you're a little bit seasoned in the game as a player.
I mean, as a younger player, you're not really too
concerned about it, But I think, yeah, as you get
older and you realize the stability usually lies in that union,
it is a big deal.
Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
Uh. We are talking to our NFL insider, Adam Kaplan,
and you're listening to Fox Sports Radio with Carrie Rhodes
and Monty Bolanos. Adam, so the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, what
is the latest when it comes to Chris Godwin's injury
and also with Tristan Worf's my arthroscopic, you know, surgery
on his knee, that he could go on the physically
unable to perform list, missing four games. How big of
(01:02:12):
a deal is that for.
Speaker 9 (01:02:14):
The Buck huge, huge Monte By the way, worse will
start on the active few dealists our training camp, and
their feeling is because this knee is not right and
he's going to miss leads four games. That's that's what
happens when you go to a reserve up to start
the season. Yeah, Charlie Heck, Charlie Heck has barely started
in the league. He's his dad, ain't he hets the
(01:02:37):
chief offense line coach. That's a problem, and unfortunately there's
really next to nothing out there. Yeah, there's really very
little out there at left tackle. This is a problem,
and they're barely picked there. They're minus one O five
to win the NFC South, so it's tight between them
(01:02:58):
and the Falcons. Yeah, this does work me, he said,
to remember worms as a blind taped protector from Baker Mayfield.
That that does worry me for the first quarter of
the season or so, and then that Godwin, they're expected
they expected to be ready for the seasons. The matter
of how much he does in training camp. But yeah,
and remember a Mecca of Buca was drafted. Eventually, they'll
(01:03:20):
be their slot receiver down the road when Godwin retires,
you know, and if but Godwin's had a number of
injuries and it's very serious. But a terrific football player
could play in center outside, but he does his best
work inside.
Speaker 3 (01:03:34):
Matt, I got a question for you about this, this
Bengals thing that's been has been lingering for a while now,
and there's no stories that there's reportings that they'll have
to trade Trey Hendrickson. Do you think they will or
do you think they'll get a job a deal done
before season starts.
Speaker 9 (01:03:48):
Know, they don't want to know, they don't want to care.
What's happened here is they have not shown their hand yet.
See and you know this courage a foreign player. Yeah,
buffs rather not show their hand until there's a deadline. Well,
what's the deadline? First loose one would be training camp. Yeah,
he had already since he missed their off season program.
He's shown the willingness to take fines. Then the question
(01:04:10):
is how far are they willing to take this deep.
See here's the problem with trading Trey Hendrickson right. Miles
Murphy their first round or twenty twenty three is not
worked out. Tim Hubbard, their other started offensive then retired.
They're really light, really light at edge. They can't afford
to not have Henderson if they would have a chance
(01:04:31):
to be a playoff team, They've got to have him.
He's vastly unapaid. They're not disagreeing with it's so far
part and they have to close the gap. Look, they're
like six or seven deals. Terry McLaurin. I expect him
to get his deal. There are a bunch of deals
that are lingering. But something magical typically happens when it
(01:04:51):
seemingly really matters. Loves just don't care. The media and
the fans make a big deal out of it, but
more often than not, it doesn't seem to matter.
Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
Chill, it really matters, Adam.
Speaker 3 (01:05:01):
It's going to really matter when they get in training
camp and they can't get any press on the quarterback
it don't matter.
Speaker 9 (01:05:05):
Then yeah, yeah, I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (01:05:11):
We're getting closer, Adam to the start of the season.
We're looking forward to it and chatting with you as
we get there. Thank you for coming to talk to
us on this Sunday. Enjoy the rest of your day.
We will talk to you soon.
Speaker 9 (01:05:23):
Thank you, all right, Adam.
Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
Adam Kaplan our NFL insider. You can follow him on
ex Twitter at Kaplan NFL. I think we're nineteen days
away from the first like plea season at kid. I'm
not sure and I thought I heard Steve Hartman say
nineteen and I trust anything that comes out of that
man's mouth.
Speaker 1 (01:05:45):
Mommy, we're going to Disney in nineteen days, are we?
Speaker 2 (01:05:47):
You said that, you said that last Yeah, Countdown, Countdown.
Let's check in with Christopher fed on what's going on
in the world of sports because I think the Dodgers
are not winning right now, Chris, what is happening or not?
Speaker 1 (01:05:59):
Real? Quick correction?
Speaker 4 (01:06:00):
I think if I'm again, I have failed at math before,
but I think it's eighteen days because Hall of Fame
game is on the thirty first.
Speaker 1 (01:06:07):
It is the thirteenth, right now, that's eight Tank.
Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
I think we we we figured this out before that
I screwed up on math with you Manzi's well we do.
Speaker 2 (01:06:15):
That's what I was like.
Speaker 1 (01:06:16):

Speaker 2 (01:06:16):
I think he's at nineties simple.
Speaker 4 (01:06:18):
This is simple subtraction. If I starting this up, I
am going to go walk out into traffic.
Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
Right now.
Speaker 4 (01:06:25):
Is brand new game for the Dodgers and Giants. Luis
Motos coming in pinch hitting, hitting a two run home run,
and the Dodgers two run lead has evaporated. We're in
the top of the tenth right now, tied to two.
So that's where that is sitting right now. I am sorry, Moncey,
sorry to you. When you're not Giants, Colors, Dodgers cap,
(01:06:47):
I will go over.
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
There and kick you. I mean talking about it, hot pink,
it's hot.
Speaker 4 (01:06:53):
I know, I know, I know I can actually now
see through the glass what you're talking about, because it
does gonna have a Halloween tint right now anyway, traffic
are getting kicked in the shins. I'm really kind of
setting myself up here one day or another for pain.

he's really, good really. Exciting in one of his recent,
games he had twelve. Strikeouts like he's really, good constantly
over one hundred miles an. Hour like it is a
small sample, size BUT i Think baseball is doing right
by putting him out there because people are talking about him,
Right like he's generating conversation with in. Baseball you could
(01:09:55):
use more of, That you could use more. Stars, yea
the star attracts, stars you know What i'm. Saying And
Nick castallanos was asked about that for The phillies because their,
Closer Christopher, sanchez he thought he should have been in. It,
now my understanding is that The phillies are doing really
right By Christopher sanchez and still giving him the bonus
as if he would have made The All Star. Game
SO i think they're doing right by. Him but he,
(01:10:16):
basically like the quote that everybody was talking about With
Nick castallanos is saying that they're turning into The Savanna. Bananas, ooh, yes, rude,
RIGHT i like that though some, Hostilities, YEAH i mean
it iss it, is you, Know and THEN i think
he hit a home run after, that you know how
he does he does it in controvert he's in controversial.
(01:10:36):
Moments BUT I i get, That LIKE i get it
that it's like maybe others deserved it more such a
small sample, size but it's a small sample size of
elite and exciting.
Speaker 1 (01:10:46):
Pitching, yeah, NO i.
Speaker 3 (01:10:47):
GET i get what you're saying from a fan standpoint
of seeing the best out there or the most electric
firing out.
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
THERE i get.
Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
It but a closer, like, Whoever Christopher, Sanchez Christopher, sanchez,
right how many of these opportunities are going when he
pitches this?
Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
Well and so when you take that away from certain,
guys it does thing a little. Bit AND i get.
Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
That and there's just so, many you, know talking about
like it's gonna be one. Inning you're gonna See Terrek
scoogle for one, inning like you already have too many
people on this. Roster AND i get. That it's it's it.
Is it is a good, conversation and it is either
one is there's no right or. Wrong it is a great.
Topic what do you? Do you know What i'm. Saying
but he's in, there so we'll see what he actually
(01:11:26):
pitches and how much of it he. Pitches on the
other side of, THIS i Just i'm wondering how much
the crew has been paying attention TO. Mlb we're gonna
find out with Easy as, one, two three.
Speaker 12 (01:11:39):

Right purpose was in the? Album right?

knowledge random questions and, sports maybe a music and they
don't have to give me the whole. Answer they just
have to give me a piece of the. ANSWER i
always struggle as to how HARD i made, this how
much you've paid attention throughout the, week or just random
(01:13:15):
how much you remember OF nfl. History so let's say
you're overrunner under on this. ONE i don't know if
you're gonna know this. Answer, yeah, Yeah so to take.
Speaker 3 (01:13:27):
That.
Speaker 2 (01:13:30):
Let's, go let's go six and a. HALF i think
you can get to seven. Points that'll be you. Winning
if you get to seven, points it's a total of ten.
Points he's us, one, two three. Four here we, go
And carrie does have. Lifelines he's Got, Chris shae And
mary and in case he needs some, help we'll start. Here,
guys let's see how and, gals how it? Goes name
one of two teams with the longest regular season winning
(01:13:55):
streaks IN nfl. History of two teams with the longest
winning streaks and the regular season IN nfl history in one,
season it could have maybe gone into the next. Season
do you get What i'm. Saying, yeah that's the that's
not one, season just the longest streaks because that was.
Speaker 1 (01:14:16):
Going to be.
Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
Easy BUT i will still say one of those teams
would be.
Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
The.
Speaker 3 (01:14:23):
Dolphins BUT i would also say The patriots because of
the one. Season but does that carry? Over and that's
the that's the little Caveat i'm Gonna i'm actually gonna
say The dolphins the Seventy wait what year was?
Speaker 1 (01:14:38):
That the seventy not The. Dolphins they went, Undefeated so
that's that's. That but did it carry over to did
it carry?
Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
Over that's the. Question you're, right you're right to wonder.
Speaker 1 (01:14:48):
That that's the. Thing uh huh uh.
Speaker 2 (01:14:50):
Huh chris is, Naughty mary is naughtying everywhere.
Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
Anybody have no, No i'm shaking my.
Speaker 4 (01:14:58):
Hand oh you're shaking no one of The dolphins BECAUSE
i think that's just that, season like, again but again
carries over to the next. ONE i think you're and
also a lot fewer games back. THEN i think you're
asked you're safer With. Patriots it's not just regular is
it just regular?
Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
Season regular?
Speaker 1 (01:15:14):
Season regular?
Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
Season, Okay. Patriots let's go safe with The, patriots all.
RIGHT i want to be clever though with The, dolphins
and nobody was thinking that.
Speaker 2 (01:15:23):
One all, right show me The. Patriots, yes they've won
twenty one games from two thousand and six to like
two thousand and, eight so it did roll. Over The
dolphins are NOT i only wrote down the top. Two
they're not in the top. Two maybe they're down there.
Somewhere but The colts actually won twenty three from the
two thousand and nine into like two, thousand like those.
Speaker 1 (01:15:44):
Two years, Nine so definitely not The. Dolphins so not
the doll.

COLLABORATIONS i don't want to put it.
Speaker 3 (01:16:32):

he the? Feature because that's that's that would be.

Speaker 3 (01:22:42):
TIME i had a, thought BUT i was, LIKE i don't,

five it's making me Think verlander has nowhere near.
Speaker 3 (01:23:58):
Eleven and THAT'S i AND i get, it and that's
Why i'm. Scared but at the same, TIME i don't

Speaker 1 (01:26:26):
Idiots.
Speaker 11 (01:26:27):
Yeah by the, Way don has, nine he's gone nine.
Speaker 2 (01:26:31):
Times he's GOT i think like that's why it was
so crazy When Klein kershaw was. ADDED i think everybody was, like,
whoa it brings him up to a DIFFERENT i.
Speaker 1 (01:26:39):
Just, oh, Man i'm upset on both of, you. GUYS
i thought you would give me the one THAT i needed.
Here BUT i KNOW i really Thought don was.
Speaker 2 (01:26:48):

Speaker 1 (01:26:49):
One, YEAH i can't get it no matter WHAT i.
Speaker 4 (01:26:51):
DID i kept like tripping myself up and thinking about
all those guys for The braves in the, nineties like No.
Speaker 1 (01:26:59):
Lavia someone like, no, man.
Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
But you're, right you got. It you got the seven.
Points well, done you, guys we did.
Speaker 1 (01:27:09):
Lines oh thank.
Speaker 9 (01:27:10):
You you. Know.
Speaker 2 (01:27:11):
YEAH i just was, like THERE'S i don't think they're
gonna get this question they might. GET i was, Like Marianna,
rivera you had to Get mario is an obvious. One
good job team way to get it. Success just Like
Janick sinner he Wins. Wimbledon we win easy as, one,
two three. Four you know who else is? Winning Devin
(01:27:31):
booker at least when it comes to. Money that's what he's.
Doing Devin booker this past week signed it to your
extension with The Phoenix suns to make a lot of. Money, Uh,
shaye can you look up the final. Number it's gonna
end up being like seventy plus per. Year, okay seventy
million plus per. Year he signed a two year extension
with The Phoenix. Suns and you know, what Sometimes i'm,
(01:27:54):
like take a pay. Cut Sometimes i'm like you should
do this for the. Team in this, Situation i'm, like,
Yeah Devin, booker good for.
Speaker 11 (01:28:02):
You, yeah he's making, sorry you're making seventy two point
five million dollars a. Year it's gonna be one hundred
and forty five million dollar maximum contract extension with a
franchise through twenty twenty, nine twenty twenty to the twenty thirty.
Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
Season thank, You thank, You shay for those.
Speaker 11 (01:28:17):
Details it's annual extension salary.
Speaker 2 (01:28:19):
And IN nba, History, YEAH i knew it was over
seventy AND i was, like, whoa, wow here's. HERE i
saw this AND i was, like, Yep Devin, booker good for,
You good for. You The Phoenix suns are in a
position where they have no control over their draft picks
for the next seven, Years. Carrie they're in a position
where The west is real tough right. Now and The
(01:28:40):
suns you can't say they didn't. Try they. Tried it
just didn't. Work Matt ishbia through. MONEY i don't know
IF i said that. RIGHT i THINK i.
Speaker 9 (01:28:50):
Did.
Speaker 2 (01:28:51):
OH i think he threw money at people and try
to create a big, three tried to put starts, together
tried to Surround Devin booker with, talent and it just
did not. Work BUT i like. That The sons are,
like you know, what we still don't want you to go.
Anywhere it's like a marriage that you have to keep
(01:29:11):
together for the sake of the. Kids and the kids
are The suns.
Speaker 1 (01:29:15):
Fans we know what happens in those.
Speaker 3 (01:29:16):
Situations nobody wins at the end of the, day and
they're not going to, win and they're.
Speaker 2 (01:29:21):
Not gonna wins right like so many weird things will
have to happen For Devin booker and The suns to
come out of this in a short amount of. Time
this this a hole that they've built, again Didn't they
tried to? Win they, tried but this really is like
a marriage where you don't want a divorce yet because
you've got the, kids and the kids are The Phoenix
(01:29:41):
suns fans and THE nba fans.
Speaker 3 (01:29:45):
Not taking a step. Further you talk about marriage in
that situation and that team where you had a run
not too long, ago maybe maybe four years, ago when
it was really, clicking and you, know the marriage looked
beautiful from the inside and on the, outside and you
make it to the finals and this you go to
(01:30:05):
this destination and you have a destination wedding and, right
and you have all your friends.
Speaker 1 (01:30:10):
There everybody's on.
Speaker 3 (01:30:11):
Board you're having, success and on that trip you find
out that you think there could be something better out,
there and so you kind of hold off on actually
commiserating the wedding and you go out and you try
to get something a little bit fancier and something a
little bit more, shiny and add that to the fold
where you go out and you break up The DeAndre
(01:30:33):
ayt and THE cp three and The booker team where
they have a real continuity it, works you're being. Successful
you just can't get over that hump or whatever that hump.
Is and then so you go out and go get
something better that you. Think it looks a little bit,
shinier has a few more, accolades a few more diamonds
and pearls on and you bring that to the, mix
and that doesn't work too and you think you probably
(01:30:54):
should have stayed to the thing that was consistent and
the thing that wasn't as shiny because it was a better.
Out and now you find yourself in a situation where
you got to overpay for that, marriage coming back to
the bas to the, Basics AND i think that's what
it kind of encapsulates for.
Speaker 2 (01:31:08):
Me but we see so Many you're so right on
everything you just. Said we just see so many teams
let go of their stars because it didn't work. Out
So i'm giving The sun's, credit oh for, Sure, like
good job in keeping your, star because you're, right you're
not gonna, win but you have a, star and fans
are still gonna come See Devin booker because he is
a star and he's super fun to. Watch also the same,
(01:31:30):
Time i'm gonna give credit To Devin booker he has
Accepted i'm probably not gonna win a, championship, Right like
at This i'm not gonna go. ANYWHERE i don't have
to go anywhere. Cold i'm not gonna be. Traded i'm
gonna stick here In phoenix and enjoy my basketball career
with a lot of.
Speaker 1 (01:31:48):
Money and he's used to. That so when he first got,
there they weren't, good, right, Right.
Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
So he's used to that because wasn't he like one
of the, Topics.
Speaker 3 (01:31:54):
Yes and this is when he created his, name right,
exactly like he was the guy that can score seventy. Four,
yep he can go back to being that, guy being,
exciting putting up numbers to improve His hall Of fame,
career if that's what he's trying to. Do and so,
YEAH i, mean stay, there stay in the place that drafted,
you and all the money and they just play back
take all the, money.
Speaker 2 (01:32:14):
Right LIKE i almost feel like this must be accepting
this as your. Fate like all, right, WELL i GUESS
i Guess i'm probably not gonna win a. Championship maybe
in five years or ten. Years you, know at the,
end he gets traded to like a team just to,
win you, know out some players do. That maybe he
tries to do, that maybe he. Doesn't BUT i feel
like this is a tough thing for athletes to accept,
(01:32:36):
reality and he has accepted his.
Speaker 3 (01:32:39):
Reality, WELL i think the reality helps when it's seventy
two point five, million IS i?
Speaker 9 (01:32:44):
Know?
Speaker 1 (01:32:45):
Yeah like that, helps that, Helps that.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
HELPS i can't, help but but say, YES i applaud
both of you for this ridiculous transaction because you two
have agreed we're gonna keep this. Going sorry it didn't work.
Out we like You and he's, like, NO i like
you guys. Too all, right let's let's keep it. Going
let's ride this thing till the wheels fall. Off So
(01:33:07):
i'm not mad that he's making the amount of money
that he's making at. All and then you Have Juan
soto and then you have ONE i don't like, him
who's making what is? It seven hundred? Million right, right,
right right? Right and he was asked carry about not
making The All Star? Game would you have like to make?
Speaker 16 (01:33:27):
Team what you?
Speaker 12 (01:33:27):
Think take the?
Speaker 1 (01:33:30):
Iction AND i think it's it's a lot of money
on the.
Speaker 9 (01:33:33):
Table would rather KEEP i make?
Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
It this man is upset that he left a Hun.
Speaker 1 (01:33:41):
Make you marry this?
Speaker 2 (01:33:42):
Man is upset that he left a hundred on the.
Speaker 1 (01:33:47):
Table he spoke about the. Money what what?
Speaker 2 (01:33:50):
World, Well i'm, SORRY i have you been paying attention
to how you started the season off as A? Met
have you been paid? ATTENTION i know you've gotten. BETTER
i know you were in a, better much better, group
which everyone was, expecting because you're making seven hundred and
sixty five million DOLLARS i believe that's the number with The.
Mets you left The, yankees A World series team to
join The, mets and everybody wondered, Why and now it
(01:34:12):
is clear as day you just care about the. Money
that's all you care. About NOW i know you've already.
WON i know he's a champion because of His, nationals
so maybe that's truly why he does not care about
anything but. Money but how tone? Deaf WAS i?
Speaker 3 (01:34:30):
Extremely Extremely? Yeah, no, no, no one hundred. PERCENT i
mean there's, yes we know you care about the. Money
you left The yankees organization and go to The. METS
i mean that's pretty. CLEAR i mean that's not to
throw shade at The. Mets The mets are a good
team as, well but they're not The yankees and the
history that they have and so you go and play
for The, yankees you almost win a. Championship you don't
(01:34:51):
even give that team a chance to get back to
that point with you and try to win it.
Speaker 1 (01:34:55):
Again like for me as a player like that would matter.
Speaker 3 (01:34:59):
Obviously the money they're throwing around in, baseball it's it's
it's it's.
Speaker 1 (01:35:03):
Hard it's hard to.
Speaker 2 (01:35:05):
Do you wish you would have gone to play. Baseball,
Oh i'm.
Speaker 1 (01:35:07):
Mad i'm mad at mom and dad right.
Speaker 11 (01:35:09):
NOW i.
Speaker 1 (01:35:11):
WAS i was definitely talented enough to do.
Speaker 3 (01:35:13):
IT i.
Speaker 1 (01:35:13):
DID i played it all way into my junior year
AND i.
Speaker 3 (01:35:15):
Stopped, so, YES i. Was i'd probably still be. PLAYING
i wouldn't be here with, You yeah you.
Speaker 2 (01:35:20):
Would you would still be playing talking About Carry roads
on MY.
Speaker 1 (01:35:23):
Tv, right turning down two millions to continue to play at. Night, yeah,
yeah that's a.
Speaker 3 (01:35:28):
Closer, No but, yes it's all about money with one,
so AND i think that just kind of solidifies.
Speaker 2 (01:35:33):
It it's ridiculous because The yankees. Didn't they also off
room seven hundred, millions, Right it's, like but hearing, this
it's just, like all, right this this is the. Guy
and if, anything as A mets, fan you gotta be like.
That does not sit. Well you could have so many
things of, like you, KNOW i started off really bad
this season AS i got my groove here wearing not
(01:35:55):
pin stripes on the other side Of New. York but
this man SAYS i left a lot of money on the.
Speaker 1 (01:36:01):
Table That's it's. Disgusting it really it really, is really.
Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
Is AND i wanted to put him And Devin booker
together because it's, like, No i'm not hating on a
man for wanting to make. Money, Yeah i'm all For
Devin booker and what he's agreed to. Do but you
you missed a missed. Opportunity there another missed opportunity By
Juan soto to just kind of change people's perception of.
Speaker 3 (01:36:25):
You, yeah you, Know, YEAH i didn't play well enough
to make The All Star. GAME i did not play
with And i'm going to regroup over the break And
i'll be better in the second and a. Half That's
those are the words that should have been, said and
that and.
Speaker 2 (01:36:35):
Nothing that's, it and that's it and and AND i
know that he's probably been getting the question a lot
then keep saying the same, thing sound like a parrot,
yes because he didn't always give that. Answer that's one
of the answers he. Gave other answers were, Different, no
sound like a parrot and say the same. Thing but
when you SAY i left one hundred ground on the,
table it's just eye, rolls eye rolls left.
Speaker 3 (01:36:55):
And and that's one of the things that you, know
he could obviously trying to be, cheeky, right but it
does not come.
Speaker 2 (01:37:02):
Off, well, yeah it does not come.
Speaker 1 (01:37:04):
Off BUT i think just bring back media. Training that's
what it is a little.
Speaker 2 (01:37:08):
BIT i think that is a big part of. It
media pr. Training, like BUT i Think Juan, soto because he's,
won he won at a very young age with The,
nationals THAT i think he's just kind of LIKE i
truly don't.
Speaker 1 (01:37:19):
CARE i don't.
Speaker 2 (01:37:20):
CARE i just want TO i want to dive into
my money and that could be.
Speaker 1 (01:37:23):
Fine but the training of the, training, right responses.

Speaker 2 (01:51:43):
One thank, You. Chris we appreciate you doing double duty
today and hanging. Out have a good rest of Your.
Sunday two things That chris, Mentioned, Uh Freddy freeman walking
it off for The. Dodgers i've said this To Ryan
berschinger And Bo, benson who we do with The Dodgers,
Podcast The, dodgers The Sixth, zone The Dodgers, podcast that
Poor Freddie freeman is not going to be considered AN mv,
(01:52:07):
like is not gonna be talked about as AN mvp
because he plays next To Sho heo Toni ye and
next To Mouki bets like he. Is he is our.
Savior he is a clutch, guy not just hitting, wise
but for some reason our guys cannot throw the ball
and this guy has to save throws out of the
dirt up in the, air left and. Right he is
(01:52:28):
so good for us and not in any discussions OF
mvp EARLY mvp talks because of who he plays next. To,
yeah it's unfortunate for. Him, SECOND i want to just
quickly ask you this whole thing with THE nfl and
THE nflpa in this collusion or whatever agreement that they
had apparently with the owners of like you, know keeping
guaranteed money in the contracts. Low how you were a,
(01:52:51):
player if you heard about this during your playing, time
wouldn't you want to be, like that's, it give me
a NEW, cba, yes. Yesterday.
Speaker 1 (01:53:01):
Yeah as a, player you would.
Speaker 3 (01:53:02):
Right anybody talking about your, money capping your, Money, yeah
is an, issue especially in the. Shadows that's it's. Weird,
Yes but THE, nfl and this is what they always.
Do they protect their. Own it's all about the, shield
it's about the, brand and so anything that kind of
supersedes that is it's a little bit of a minor
(01:53:25):
discussion when it comes to the. Shield SO i can
understand why they're protecting. Them but as a, player the
player perspective one hundred, percent like don't do not talk
about capping our earning.
Speaker 1 (01:53:37):
Capabilities that's just not it's just not. Right it's not.
Fair it's Not and these.
Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
People are supposed to be working for, you for the,
players and so like the, thing it's like you you
will you assume or anticipate or OR i guess it
doesn't surprise you that the owners are trying to do with.
Ye but when you hear, that maybe people who are
supposed to be.
Speaker 1 (01:53:55):
In your, corner makes in the.
Speaker 2 (01:53:56):
Grass we're okay with. It it's, like what AND i
agree with you that the shield this story doesn't have
a lot of. Traction, no you gotta go look for,
it you know What i'm. Saying like the day that
this came, OUT i WAS i was at the news
desk AND i made a. COMMENT i was, like let
me tell, You, LIKE espn has a, story but it's
not being. Tweeted it's not like they're not putting it
out there in front of. YOU i didn't see it
(01:54:17):
On Bleacher. Report they didn't tweet anything out. Like it's
like they're definitely trying to protect the. Shield it's all
it is. ABOUT i don't know what's gonna, happen but
it seems a little bit. Messy we'll see if more
comes out of. It hopefully.
Speaker 9 (01:54:32):
Not it.
Speaker 1 (01:54:33):
Won't it.
Speaker 2 (01:54:33):
Won't you're probably right because.
Speaker 1 (01:54:35):
It's over now because now it's they've been found out about,
right it will go.
Speaker 2 (01:54:40):
Away it will go away, now this is? It this is?

on or? Off That Paul pierce on his Show speak
(01:57:14):
said Us hoopers can play. Football the football players can't play.
Basketball Honor Off carrie as the FORMER nfl player who
also played. Basketball you're so off that he.
Speaker 3 (01:57:31):
Says those, little, skinny scrawny basketball players trying to step
into their football. Arena number, one it's just it's too,
physical right from a skill, Standpoint, yes you probably can
catch a football on, air, sure but when somebody touches
you and grabs you a little bit and hits, YOU
i think you woul.
Speaker 1 (01:57:48):
Reconsider and there are a lot of football players.
Speaker 3 (01:57:51):
That play basketball on the high school collegiate level that
could skill wise play. Basketball And i'm not saying that
it would be, easy BUT i think think we would
be more inept and able to step into that arena
than basketball.
Speaker 2 (01:58:04):
Players you, KNOW i feel LIKE i think shooting a
basketball is it's. Hard it's a, skill, Right like just
shooting the ball is a very difficult skill. Set but
to say that like one is easier than the other to,
TRANSITION i don't get that it is in any, way
shape or. Form and it's just an interesting comment to.
Make and he was talking That Lebron james could have
been an all time tight.
Speaker 1 (01:58:23):
End well he, Would he probably could have if he.
Speaker 3 (01:58:26):
Concentrated on, you if he concentrated, right if he was
playing basketball and try to step into the.
Speaker 2 (01:58:30):
Arena, no it's like whatever you focus, on if you're an,
athlete you're gonna be able to do. It But i'm with.
You i'm with, you all. Right well wrap it up here,
quickly carry on or, Off. Carrie stop giving your money
