Speaker 2 (00:24):
Seven games are kicking off, Chargers at the Falcons, Steelers
at the Bengals, Cardinals at the Vikings, Colts at the Patriots,
Seahawks at the Jets, Titans at the Commanders, and Texans
at the Jaguars. I could not be more excited on
this NFL Sunday, Richie. It's you know, we're coming down
to the end here of the college football regular season,
(00:46):
got those conferences championship games coming up next Saturday, and
we're getting down to the nitty gritty in the National
Football League before we get to all these games that
are kicking off right now. The Matt eberflus in Chicago
certainly comes to no surprise after the debacle of an
ending they had on Thanksgiving in that game against the Lions,
(01:07):
that they could have won. And it's just an interesting
trend right now. That's three first round pick quarterbacks. They
had Trubisky, they had Fields now Kleb Williams. In all
three cases the coaches are fired the very season they
drafted those guys.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah, you see a trend there in Chicago.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Well, I see a trend there with high draft picks
because you're going to bad football teams, and if you
retain a coach from a bad football team, when a
quarterback comes in, oftentimes he's going to he's going to
be a part of a regime change. So this is
nothing new. We've seen this many times before. We've seen
certain quarterbacks survive that well, and we've seen many others faltered.
(01:44):
Caleb Williams, though to his credit, has shown growth. Caleb
Williams has looked the part as a first overall draft
pick at times this season. He also looks like a rookie.
So I'm very intrigued how his future looks in the
NFL with a new direction, with a new head coach
this offseason.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
Do you guys remember who was the betting favorite for
Coach of the year agoing.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yeah, that would be true.
Speaker 2 (02:05):
Yeah, but we also said at the time that Iberflus
would also be the betting favorite to get fired.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
He was both the betting favorite to be fired first
and also the betting favorite to be the coach.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Middle ground a.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Retrospective.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah, well, after watching the debacle of the Endian and that,
of course that's after already the game against the Commanders.
You know that they lost with some mismanagement by Iberflus,
So the Bears turned the page there, all right, So
some of the games that we got going on right now, Richie,
This game right at the top that I wanted to
talk about is the Chargers at the Falcons, And this
(02:41):
is a game that's very interesting. The Falcons have lost
two straight. They got blown out in Denver two weeks ago.
They're coming off the bye week. Chargers, of course, coming
out their loss against the Ravens, and you get to
that point of the season where we are right now,
where every game means something, and before we get to
even that, going back in your career in the National
(03:04):
Football League, when the calendar turns to December, as it
does today, where's the mindset? I mean, you've been on
bad teams in December, You've been on good teams in December.
What is that mindset once you get to that month
of December as you get ready for the stretch run
of the season.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Well, start with the good teams.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
When you're on a good team, you're already in the postseason.
December is a month where you're either playing to increase
your seeding in the postseason, to clinch a postseason spot
and take a little bit of the pressure off the
end of the year. Maybe you'll be able to rest
some players in that final game of the season. That
could be a benefit, especially if health has been an
(03:43):
issue for you or you're fighting to get into the
postseason as a wildcard. But December represents the postseason has
already begun. For a lot of teams around the NFL,
winning is paramount. There's a lot of teams that are
out of it. And for those teams, here's what's happening
with the players, individual julie and the coaches. In certain cases,
you are now fighting for a job. You are now
(04:04):
playing for your future in the NFL. So if you're
on a team that looks like the season's over and
you're a quitter, you're somebody who's going to be seen
on film loafing around out there. That says a lot
about your characters. So trust me, even some of these teams.
So you see around the NFL, you look at the Giants,
oh goodness, gracious, you look at the Jets, Oh my gosh,
the Raiders, the Raiders, the Patriots. Some of these dismal
(04:26):
seasons that we've seen, those players won't quit and they'll
get some unexpected w's because individual effort still matters, all right.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
So the Chargers and Falcons two teams very much in
the playoff mix. The Falcons with two straight losses, trying
to hang on there in the NFC South. Still a
lot of people believe when the dust settles, it'll be
the Buccaneers ahead in the NFC South. What happened here
where the Falcons playing a little above their pay grade
early in the year, because after that blowout loss on
(04:55):
the road to Denver, all of a sudden, they look
like they're in trouble.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Yeah, a little bit. Right.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Here's the interesting about the Falcons. I think they're kind
of right where they're supposed to be, you know, I mean,
Kirk Cousins and the Falcons came out the gates and
they got snuffed by the Steelers. Do you remember how
they opened the season and then they rebounded, well, they
started looking like the team that was promised with Cap
and Kirk coming down to Atlanta, and then you know,
(05:23):
they've hit a little bit of a trough, and I
think it is probably about where they're supposed to be.
Was it going to be all perfect with a brand
new quarterback working in a new offensive system and a
lot of change. No, And I think the Atlanta Falcons
at six and five, they're kind of right where I
expected them be. Again, reminder, new head coach. It felt
(05:45):
like it was gonna be Belichick, and then Rahee Morris
got the head coaching job, and then they're playing against
the team actually in the Chargers, who are in the
same boat a little bit now, not a new quarterback,
but a new face, head head coach, a new culture
and new direction. And so both these teams sort of
feel like they're right where they're supposed to be. Record wise.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Yeah, the Chargers don't want to lose again.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
You know, you lose a couple of games and all
of a sudden you fall to seven and five that
the Chargers were to lose today in Atlanta. They're still
right now safely in the playoffs. So is Denver at
seven and five.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
By the way, that was my greatest pick of all time,
dever to make the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
I'm gonna harp on that until it doesn't happen, which
is very possible. But no, I mean, yeah, you want
to continue and rebound. Losing to the Ravens obviously isn't terrible,
but losing on the road against a Falcon team that
at least coming in is struggling a little bit would
be rough. Another big game as far as both teams
(06:39):
very much in the playoff picture, the Cardinals and the Vikings.
Cardinals are rolling along rich and they go to Seattle
and their offense just disappeared against a Seattle team that's
not exactly a defensive juggernaut.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
And then we got the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (06:54):
You know, you look at the record nine and two, right,
we've been talking about the Eagles as the prime contender
to take down the Lions.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
No one's talking about the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
After their hot start, they stumbled a little bit, but
now they're finding a way to win games, even if
it's not impressive.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Should we be taking the Vikings a little more seriously?
Will we?
Speaker 2 (07:14):
If they come away with a win today at home
against the Cardinals.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
Well, here's the deal with the Cardinals.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
The Cardinals, the whole thing is Kyler Murray, right, his
growth as a quarterback. He talked about it a lot
this offseason, how he's going to shock a lot of people,
and I think he has. I think effectively, the Cardinals
have a six to win record so far through eleven games.
That's really impressive. Also, the way he's played and carried
this team. The leadership factor has finally showed up for
(07:42):
Kyler Murray. I truly feel like he's in control of
that team. And credit to Jonathan Gannon, came in last year,
a defensive coordinator from the Philadelphia Eagles, takes a head
coaching position in twenty twenty three. Not a lot of
faith that he's going to be able to turn around
this Cardinals program. And he's done a nice job with them,
and I think he's really imbued Kyler Murray with the
(08:03):
leadership that he needed to sort of present to the
rest of the team. Hey, look at the Vikings. The
Vikings are the best, the best defense in the NFL.
Like this is a tough task on the road, and
especially for a Cardinals team who hasn't won on the
road in Minnesota since nineteen seventy seven. Steve who was
the started quarterback in Minnesota in nineteen seventy seven, well.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
It was still fran Tarkington or retired in nineteen seventy eight. However,
that year in the playoffs he got hurt. Well the
few times Frank got hurt in bobb Lee, who had
formerly been with the Atlanta Falcons, took over as a
starting quarterback.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Beat the Rams in a playoff game we could forget.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Of course, Cardinals do get a field goal on their
opening drive, and on that opening drive Kyler Murray five
of five thirty one yards, So good opening drive for
the Cardinals ends in a field goal. Meanwhile, the Patriots
right now have a fourth and goal at the Indianapolis
sixteen yard line. The Patriots, I predicted We're going to
be the worst team in the NFL this year. Not
(09:01):
They're not a great team by any stretch of the imagination.
But I think at the very least they have found
a quarterback in Drake May Now, and again, when we talk.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
About quarterbacks, you know CJ.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Strout has taken a step back after his phenomenal rookie season.
That's not to be unexpected. I mean, this happens many
many times. Quarterback has a big breakout season. They may
take a step back, but then you got to get
him back on track. And that's going to be the
only question with Drake May moving forward. He has a
talent to be an elite quarterback in this league. The
question is will he get the proper coaching. Will they
(09:34):
put some tools around him to allow him to grow
as a quarterback because they have themselves what looks like
a franchise quarterback.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
Yeah, I agree. Look, the Patriots have systemic problems. It's
not just the quarterback position breaking in a rookie who.
By the way, I agree with you. I'm a fan
of Drake May's I think he's made the transition. Well,
he's thrown ten touchdown passes this season to ten different receivers,
so he's connecting with this roster, finding a way to
spread the ball around and get it to different skill
(10:02):
position players. You look at the Patriots, though, what was
so characteristic of the Patriots during the Belichick Brady years
was discipline. This is a team that didn't hurt themselves
as a team that sort of out outlasted opponents and
forced them to make the mistakes that hurt them. This
is a highly penalized Patriots team. That's something they need
to clean up. It's something Girodmeo actually spoke about leading
(10:24):
up to this game against the Colts.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
All right, to we have our first touchdown the day.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
By the way, the Patriots did get a field goal
three and nothing Pats over the Colts Ryan Robinson Junior
a forty yard touchdown run, giving the Commanders an early
seven to nothing lead against the Titans. Course, the Commanders
trying to snap a three game losing streak. Hey, Rapid

Wilson in the gun, He's back to pass. His trow
were accepted, running it back as Cam Taylor Brett. He's
at the thirty five thirty twenty five Tenny get tonight
field block get the five to the goal line touchdown
own Bengals. Cam Taylor Brent with a pick six to
put Cincinnati on the scoreboard.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
At seven under WLW Bengals Radio Network. The pick six
given the Bengals the early seven to nothing lead at
home against the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
This is Red Zone Radio. Steve Harvin rich Ornberger with you.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
We're live from the Tirak dot com studio's quick update
right now. Falcons have a second and goal at the
Chargers two yard line. No score in that game. Bengals
again seven to nothing over the Steelers. Vikings tied up
with the Cardinals three to three. Colts answer back with
a touchdown to take a seven to three lead over
the Patriots. No score between the Jets, Seahawks Commanders. As
(12:19):
we mentioned earlier, seven to nothing lead over the Titans,
Texans and Jaguars.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
No score.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
What a New Yars senior for the Bengals, I mean
they have had statistically, this is Joe Burrow's best season. Yep,
he's actually having an MVP caliber season statistically.
Speaker 2 (12:39):
But they're four and seven and they're not done yet.
You look at the Broncos at seven and five, hardly
a juggernaut.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
The Chargers at seven and four.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
If they lose in Atlanta today, and by the way,
Atlanta just got in the end zone Biejean Robinson two
yard touchdown run, Falcons take a seven to nothing lead.
The Bengals win today to get to five and seven,
they're still breathing.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
Yeah, weird start.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
By the way, to that Falcons game you just updated
everybody on. So the Falcons get the ball first, they
miss a fifty three yard field goal try Chargers football.
Then Hassan Haskins fumbles it on a third and short Falcons.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Take over again.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
They're able to punch it in on the short field
for the score, and so that's how the scoring has
started there. Now in terms of this game in Cincinnati,
you're absolutely right. Oh, and it looks like Pittsburgh just
answered on a George Pickens swing route. He punted the
football into the stands after scoring a touchdown.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
That'll be a penalty.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
That'll be a penalty, and some lucky fan in the
upper decks going home with that football. He punted the
mess out of that thing. Nice little bubble screen here,
and the Steelers get in, so that blocking that is
going to be a tie ball game with the extra point,
which we'll see in a moment here. But yeah, if
the Cincinnati Bengals can pull off this victory, with the
way Joe Burrow is playing, if they can get hot
(13:58):
down the stretch of the season. We were just talking
about December, this month being so integral for playoff seeding
and wild collared berths, it's not out of the question
that we could see Cincinnati advance their stock and get
into the playoff conversation.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
All right, So extra point is good. Seven to seven. Now,
Steelers and the Bengals. I'm looking at this Steeler team
as another team.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
That where are we? I am more than you know.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
I'm listening to Crack this morning and the end every
everyone says this, I'm not in I'm not buying into
the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
I'm not buying into this. I'm hearing this over and
over again.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
The game against the Browns was an anomaly in my book,
that was a weird game.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
The Steelers dominated every stat in the game.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
In fact, the Browns had three turnovers, the Steelers only
had one.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Crazy but the snow just sort.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Of made the whole game weird, and Jameis Winston was
able to pull out the whims for the Browns. So
it's the kind of game that the Steelers normally win,
you know, an ugly game like that, they find a
way to get the w.
Speaker 3 (15:01):
They took the yell.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
But I'm not discounting the Steelers as long as Russell
Wilson is playing at the level he's playing right now.
I know he just threw a pick six, but you
answered right back with a touchdown. That's a sign of
a veteran. So Steelers are still a team that, even
though they haven't won a playoff game in a long time,
I'm not quite sure I'd like to match up with
the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Yeah, you know here, Look they're with a Super Bowl
winning quarterback.
Speaker 4 (15:27):
They're still working around that quarterback though, Yeah, because if
you look, for example, how they just scored after Russell
Wilson throws the pick six. I mean he threw that
ball ten yards to George Pickens, he did all the
rest of the work. I mean, their offense is so limited.
If you look at their red zone scoring this year,
it's sub fifty percent. It's awful. And by the way,
(15:47):
their defense is terrible in the red zone as well.
They're letting a lot of teams score against them in
that area of the field. So they got to shore
that up if they're gonna win games into the postseason.
But if there's one thing I can tell you, you know this, Steve,
we talked about that ad nauseum since we've been broadcasting
together the Steelers in the regular season. It's like clockwork.
Mike Tomlin finds a way. He'll take chicken scratch and
(16:10):
he'll turn it into chicken salad, and you know, it
may not be the most palatable meal, but it works
enough to get them into the month of January.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
We talked about trying to find a quarterback in this league,
which is imperative if you're going to actually have any
success in the NFL. We talked earlier about the Drake
may situation in New England, but how about Anthony Richardson, who,
by the way, on the Colts opening drive three for
three thirty seven yards and a touchdown pass to Jonathan Taylor.
(16:39):
Richardson after getting benched coming back has been far more accurate.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Now.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
I don't know if they've adjusted the offense to make
it a little easier for him to complete some passes,
but you got to do that. You've got to get
him used to the idea, because before he got benched
for the season, he was completing forty four percent of
his passes, which is unheard of in the NFL in
twenty twenty four. But he's thrown the ball much more
effectively the last couple of weeks and off to a
(17:07):
quick start on the road against New England today.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
Well, here's the deal. This should be a get right
game for the Colts. It should be a get right
game for Jonathan Taylor. Who Look, this is a Colts
team that is a bit under manned. They've dealt with
injuries throughout the course of the season. Jonathan Taylor had
a point earlier this year where he won four games
of six over one hundred yards rushing. They got to
(17:30):
get back to that. The best way to support a
rookie quarterback or a young quarterback. I realize it's Anthony
Richardson's second year in the league. But he barely played
in his first year, so he's really still a rookie
in terms of experience. Is with a great running game,
and Jonathan Taylor was the twenty twenty one rushing leader
in the NFL. They've got to get him back to
doing that because that's how you support a young quarterback.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
One of the games I picked an upset. If it
is an upset, that's pretty much a toss up game
the Seahawks and the Jets. Seahawks had that big win
last week against Arizona. They share first place in the
NFC West with the Cardinals. But I look at the Jets.
You still have Aaron Rodgers out. They can't possibly lose
every game the rest of the way, right at some
(18:14):
point they have to win a game. Smith this year
has twelve touchdowns and twelve picks. And this is a
much better Jet defense than what he faced against the
Cardinals last week. Right now, there's no score five and
a half minutes ago in the first quarter. But tell
me the Jets can win a game. I'm picking the
Jets today in this game to beat the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
How about this. Their quarterbacks healthy, you know, he's been
playing on this Achilles recovery. They're coming off.
Speaker 3 (18:43):
A bye week.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Look, there's a little bit of a home stretch going
on in terms of his career, so I think we
could still see, you know, some good football out of
Aaron Rodgers. I don't think it's a bad spot for
the Jets. Also, remember it's an emotional game for Gino Smith.
He returns to MetLife. This is a team that he
that drafted him. It did not work out in New York,
(19:07):
it didn't work out a lot of places. Seattle bought
in and as a result, Gino delivered them some success
in recent years. So we'll see how this one goes.
I don't think it's a bad spot for the Jets.
I could support seeing the Jets winning this football game.
They need it. I mean, they get a year.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
On a third and thirteen.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Rogers got sacked, but he got sacked with a face mask.
Watch the replay here, Rich, So he gets taken down
Aaron Rodgers. They're in Seattle territory on this drive, and
there it goes to face mask as he got sacked.
So instead of a sack and a fourth down, it's
going to be a first down for the Jets is
to continue this drive. Yeah, I mean you talked about
(19:47):
December and it's auditioned time for a lot of players.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Guess who it's on an audition time for is Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
I mean, if he wants to play in twenty twenty five,
he's not going to join a team as a backup.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
That's not happening.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
So he's trying to impress upon some team in the
NFL that I'm still capable of being a starting quarterback
in this league.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
Even if he's not back with the Jets.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Well, if he's not back with the Jets as a starter,
he's not coming back with the Jets.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
I can promise you that, right. He will not go
anywhere unless he is the starter.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
Yeah. I don't see him feeling comfortable being anybody's backup,
or potentially he could retire. He was mulling retirement before
he accepted the trade to go to New York in
the first place.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
All Right, the Commanders came into today with a three
game losing streak. How do you snap it? Play, Tennessee,
Jayden Daniels just ran in for a touchdown, So you
already two touchdowns on the ground for the Commanders fourteen
nothing lead against the Titans. Gume that is going nowhere
this year and the Cardinals are celebrating right now.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
What's going on? Well, we have a touchdown in the
Cincinnati game. I want to tell you about it. Is
that short or is that on the line? Jase Brown
rushed in. They called it a touchdown on the field.
Now they're going to review like they do all scoring plays,
to see if his knee was down, if he was
short of the end zone. But Cincinnati making quick work
getting on the board early on the pick six and
(21:11):
now on the Chase Brown rushing score there. So thirteen
to seven, currently waiting for the extra point.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Yeah, we have a fumble for the Vikings that was
recovered by the Cardinals. Again, this is a three to
three game, so the Cardinals will take over on the
nineteen yard line. So I think actually what happened here
was is there was a fumble on the play, so
the Yeah, the Cardinals have the ball first and ten,
(21:39):
now the Minnesota nineteen yard line. Kyler Murray off to
a good start right now, seven of eight for forty yards.
Speaker 3 (21:46):
All right, very busy start to our day. Now let's
find out.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
What is a trending, and as always, no.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
One does it better than the legendary Moncey Milanias. Oh
stop it, Monsy today, just dandy.
Speaker 7 (22:02):
It's December one, right, I mean December first, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
Final final month of the year, and I have a
full belly. Two more breakfast burritos. Again.
Speaker 2 (22:12):
I saw the burritos sitting there, and then they weren't there, and.
Speaker 7 (22:16):
Then they weren't.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
You don't, I'm telling you every week, but I'll remind
you again. You don't have to keep doing this, right,
I mean, in fact, you might be feeding a small
addiction at this point.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
The rich is going to be around a lot now, Yeah,
pretty much.
Speaker 4 (22:29):
And by the way, when you say around, you do
emphasis on round. If I keep eating these breakfast burritos,
it's just.
Speaker 7 (22:35):
Once a week, It's fine.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
It's not like anything during the week at all. Yeah,
just double fisting burritos.
Speaker 8 (22:42):
Double fisting burritos is the way to start a Sunday.
With all these NFL games, it looks like that touchdown
by Chase Brown did not count, but then he got
in anyway, So official rushing touchdown for Chase Brown. The
Bengals are now up on the Steelers fourteen to seven
with five minutes to go in the first quartered shore
licking a little, uh, you know, flabbergasted maybe with the
(23:04):
thing with the Falcons and what they're throwing at them.
There was a fumble, but they were able to recover.
They only got a field goal out of that drive.
The Falcons are up seven to three late in the
first quarter. As you mentioned, the Cardinals are basically in
the red zone. After that fumble that they recovered. They
are tied with the Vikings in Minnesota at three apiece.
Also late in the first the Colts are beating the
(23:25):
Patriots seven to six.
Speaker 7 (23:27):
In New England.
Speaker 8 (23:27):
Late in the first Aaron Rodgers just hit Davante Adams
for an eight yard touchdown pass, and the Jets are
beating the Seahawks in New York six zero.
Speaker 7 (23:35):
With three and a half minutes to go extra blocked.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Is that what happens Jets?
Speaker 8 (23:42):
I mean, yeah, no point on The Commanders, as you
also just mentioned, have extended their lead over the Times.
Jaden Daniels scrambled up the middle for a three yard
rushing touchdown.
Speaker 7 (23:52):
It's fourteen zero, two and a half minutes.
Speaker 8 (23:54):
To go, while the Texans and the Jags, who are
playing with I'm blanking on his name, Trevor Warrants. After
missing the last two games with that ac joint injury,
he is active, he's playing, but the Texans and the
Jacks right now are scoreless three minutes to go in
the first Other NFL news, former Pro Bowl safety Jamal
Adams is signing with the Lions practice squad. According to ESPN,
(24:14):
the ideas that he is going to be elevated to
their main roster. And in college football, Perdue was firing
coach Ryan Walters after two seasons. He's gone five to
nineteen in those two years, this year one and eleven.
Speaker 7 (24:26):
No point on.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
That'll get you fired, especially when you get annihilated like
theydate against Indiana. Yes, everybody, Yeah, Perdue became per don't.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Yeah, that's what happened to them very quickly. Yes, all right, Monzie,
thank you very much. We'll check in with you a
little bit later on.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Yeah, just detouring a little bit on the college football scene.
Uh so we now know the Big twelve championship game
will be Iowa State versus Iowa State versus Arizona State.
Arizona State. Yeah it's Arizona, Say it's you. They took
an ASU game. It's in Iowa State, it's in Colorado.
Does not BYU does not.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
It's unbelievable if you look at the trajectory of Arizona State.
They started the season being pulled as the dead last
team in the Big twelve. Right and Dillingham, I mean
you want to talk about coach of the year? I
mean I he asked if he would get my vote.
Ten wins this running back Scataboo. They got a special
team this year. They bought in in a big way.
(25:26):
There is a culture. The sun Devils are back. It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
You got Texas and Georgia next week in the SEC.
How about SMU? You talk about Coach of the Year?
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Oh SMU and the ACC Championship game against Clemson, who
loses and then back doors in because Miami lost Big
Ten Championship seal later Ohio State.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
It's going to be your.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Nitney Lions going against number one ranked Oregon. Are you
feeling a Nitney Lion up so? Because if they win
that game, number one in the country. Are they number
one in the country, If I have a vote, number
one in the country, if I'm in the with the committee,
number one in the country. How could you just say
if you have one loss and then you beat the
number one team.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
Did you see what happened with Locksley and Franklin after
the game the handshake. Oh yeah, Loxley had a lot
to say to Franklin. And then after the game, I thought.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
Okay, it was it was a blowout game, but why
the last touchdown?
Speaker 4 (26:17):
So he goes, I had my three and four zen.
This is James Franklin, the head coach of the Penn
State football right, you want my guys not to play?
He was like, I have my threes and four zen.
You have your ones in. He was like, you're trying
to score. We're trying to score. My guys scored. It
was a passing play.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
I get it.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
But how about this. You're in cover zero, so you're
essentially what that means. It's code for you're blitzing us.
You know, you are putting nobody deep because you're committing
all these bodies to the line of scrimmage.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
He was like, that's football, that's football.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
And also he addressed the elephant in the room, which
is we're in a time and an age where you
gotta score as many points as possible because style points
matter in college football. If you beat Maryland by a score,
you're looked at as chumps. If you beat him by forty,
you're looked at it juggernauts. And so he was like,
that's what we got to do these days. And I
(27:03):
completely agree with everything you said.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
It is going to be a big week next week
for sure in college football, and it will decide which
twelve schools.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Will end up in the playoff.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
The Seahawks have just fumbled recovered by the Jets. Jets
scoring that touchdown, extra point was blocked, so six nothing Jets,
and now the Jets will take over after the Seattle fumble.
And this was you know, you look at the NFC West,
and then later on today Rich obviously the forty nine ers,
(27:33):
you feel like they're in a must win situation on
the road in Buffalo. The weather is going to be
absolutely miserable tonight for that Sunday night game is going
to be snowing at Orchard Park.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
But you can't say that forty nine ers are out
of it. I mean, if the.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Cardinals lose on the road today and Seattle loses on
the road today, both of them would be back to
six and six even if the Cardinals lose or the
forty nine Ers lose, they'd be five and seven.
Speaker 3 (27:59):
They'd only be a game back. This is ugly. I mean,
I you know, it's somebody has to come out of
that division nine to eight. Maybe, who knows.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
If you look at the forty nine ers schedule, try
to find three wins left on that schedule.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Well, okay, so three wins. How about this?
Speaker 4 (28:17):
They're in peril of losing three straight if they lose
to Buffalo on the road. Here, this is a dicey
season for the forty nine ers in a division that
really felt like theirs. You know, I think when you
look at the Rams, there's some issues. You look at
the Arizona Cardinals still building, you look at the Seahawks,
I mean, how much faith do you have in Gino Smith?
It's it's an issue, right And but the fact that
(28:39):
the forty nine ers have not been their normal self
and they're dealing with injuries, and they're going on another
cross country flight after going to Green Bay just a
week ago, this does not bode well for a forty
nine Ers win, especially with the Bills looking to clinch
the AFC East.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
With a win against San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
So after next week, the forty nine Ers will host
the Bears, your favorite in that game. Their last four
games Division game against the Rams at home, tough, on
the road against the Dolphins, all the way down to Miami,
home against the Lions, and their last game is at Arizona.
So the forty nine Ers, if they're going to make
(29:18):
the postseason, they're going to have a very big upheld
climb with some huge games left on their schedule.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
We've had a really sloppy game in Atlanta. So they
started off their first drive with a missfield goal, then
the Chargers fumbled. Then you have a touchdown by the Falcons,
a field goal by the Chargers led by an interception
Kirk Cousins just thrown to give the Chargers the football back.
I mean, the ball has changed hands like a hot
potato in this game right now. Falcons lead seven to three.
(29:47):
But the Chargers at midfield with a first and ten
at their own forty four yard line.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
Blow out of the day, Commanders twenty one nothing over
the Tigets. Jaydon Daniels to Terry McLaurin touchdown pass. So
already three touchdowns on the board in the first quarter.
For the Commanders and twenty one to nothing over the
hapless Titans. There's another organization that's gonna have to do
(30:12):
a lot of soul searching.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
In the offseason.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
And ugly game of the day Texans Jaguars, no score.
You looked at this game preseason, You're like, Okay, there's
gonna be a showdown in the AFC South.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
You know which one of these two teams gonna emerge?
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Unbelievably, the Jaguars are sitting at two to nine and
the Texans seven and five. Yeah, but not looking like
the team we saw late last season.
Speaker 4 (30:36):
No, and this game has been exactly what you described.
It is ugly. It's just a puntfest. The first five
possessions have resulted in punts. Texans have the football right
now as the first quarter is ending.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
And look at that.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
The Jets have scored again, a little shovel pass in
the middle into the end zone.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
It looks like Allen got in on this one. Yeah,
Aaron Rogers and the Jets march the field, got to
the ends.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
We let's see if they get this extra point.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
The last one was absolutely blocked, I mean like blocked
by half a line. No blocking at all up front,
so at least twelve nothing Jets right now with the
lead against.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
The Seahawks team.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
As I mentioned again, you got the Cardinals on the
road against the Vikings and then you got the Seahawks
on the road against the Jets, both possible losses that
can make things even tighter right now as far as
the NFC is concerned.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
NFC West, by the way, this is why you do
not want to fumble on a kick return.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
It looks like the you're gonna go for two Jets
are going for two.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
Aaron Rodgers in the shotgun and they just handed off
and a spin and in for Breese.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
Hall boom, So that nothing there. You go, don't need
a kicker, just go for two point conversionists. Tonight, well
think about this.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
You got the forty nine all all four NFC West
teams on the road this week. The Rams are on
the road against the Saints later this afternoon, and then
tonight you got the forty nine ers on the road
against the Bill.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
So what has been a I'll be.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Generous competitive division could get even more competitive.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
It's more like we' not as south standing. I mean,
it is woo. It is looking rough.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
Patriots with a nine to seven lead in their game
against the Colts.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
Did they miss an extra point?
Speaker 9 (32:24):
Here?
Speaker 3 (32:24):
One happened? Oh?
Speaker 2 (32:26):
New England actually has gotten three field goals, Is that
right already?
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (32:32):
New England with three field goals already in this game.
They just got a fifty four yard field goal. So
they've taken a nine to seven lead over the Indianapolis Colts.
All right rolling along here by the way, Chargers, they
just get a field goal, cutting Atlanta's lead to seven
and six. We got to coming at you, folks, and
we are all over at more information you need about
(32:54):
the National Football League Right here on Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 9 (32:57):
To the right of Rogers in the backfield is Braylen Allen,
who empties the backfield in motion. It's a little shuffle pass.
Davis cuts it up field at the god one he's in.
It's a Jet touchdown. Save the football, I say it.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
Davis and the Jets have a two store lead.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
That's one of four point three Jets Radio network. They
get a two point conversion. Jets lead the Seahawks fourteen
and nothing. That game just ended the first quarter. This
Red Zone Radio, Steve Harbin Rich Ornberger with you. We're
live from the tire rack dot Com studios quick rundown
of the scoreboard. Falcons over the Chargers seven to six
inside nine minutes to go in.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
The first half.
Speaker 2 (33:35):
In that game, the Pittsburgh Steelers have just scored their
an extra point away of tying this game with the
Bengals right at the start of the second quarter. Vikings
Cardinals three to three, eleven minutes to go in the
first half. Patriots lead the Colts nine to seven. Colts
right now have a second and twelve at New England's
seventeen yard line, ten and a half minutes to go.
Speaker 3 (33:55):
In the half.
Speaker 2 (33:55):
We mentioned Jets fourteen nothing over the Seahawks end of
the first quarter, Commanders all over the Titans twenty one
nothing and they're threatening for more. Second and twelve at
the Tennessee fourteen yard line, thirteen and a half minutes
to go in the half. There, and believe it or not,
we actually have a score in the Texans Jaguars game.
It comes courtesy of the Texans three nothing with thirteen
(34:17):
minutes ago in the half of there. Wow, the Commanders
are just absolutely annihilating the Titans right now.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
Look at the numbers.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Jayden Daniels you know, he's had some hiccups the last
couple of weeks, not today six to six sixty one
yards and a touchdown. He's also scored one on the ground. Meanwhile,
Will Levis three for five passing three yards. I've asked
you several times over the course of the year, Will Levis,
he has those a key. Will Levis playing quarterback is
(34:47):
sort of like my golf game. Like, you know, I'll
be out there and just hack my way around. Then
all of a sudden, I hit a couple of decent shots.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
Yeah, and I've suddenly convinced myself I can actually play
this game.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
And then the next I play it's the same story
over and overgame. That's Will Levis. They're always flashes during
a course of a game where you're like, Okay, this
guy has it, and then he makes plays that are
almost inexplicable, and then you're like, no, this guy is
not the future at quarterback for the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 5 (35:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
It is feast or femine with Will Levis, and it
has been basically since he started playing football at this level.
The Tennessee Titans got to go back to the drawing board.
They got to find a quarterback. They need to set
up their future and decide. I guess next season if
Brian Callahan is the coach of the future for the
(35:36):
Tennessee Titans, I don't know if you can get the
culture necessarily established in a single season. There are certain
coaches who have had success like that. Certainly it's going
that way for Dan Quinn in Washington. That is a
completely new house from top to bottom. They replace their owner,
they replace their general manager, they replace their head coach,
(35:56):
their entire coaching staff. They've got a new quarterback, and
it's work looking for the commanders. But sometimes it's a
slower build. You look at Dan Campbell and what he
did in Detroit. It took years. It took years, and
here they are a potential Super Bowl contender. So we'll
see what happens with the Tennessee Titans. But right now
not looking great.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
Anthony Richardson just ran for a touchdown, so the Colts
retake the lead over the Patriots fourteen to nine. And
again for Anthony Richardson, he is off to a very
fast start here for six passing forty six yards and
a score. He has also run for a touchdown twenty
six yards on the ground. He did throw an interception
on the other side, Drake May seven to nine sixty
(36:36):
two yards. The big story here, though, is he had
a forty one yard run. You know, when I watched
Drake May, I'm sorry, I just can't help but think
about Josh Allen, you know, and Josh Allen. Some people
are up by the way. I found this laughable. So
after Saquon Barkley lit up the Rams for all those yards,
everyone suddenly he's talking about him MVP. I'm like, you're
(36:57):
a little late to the party. I've been talking about
that for the last two weeks leading into that RAM game.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
But I right now, even though Lamar Jackson obviously is
putting up glossy numbers, it would appear the favorite in
the MVP race is Josh Allen. Would you agree with that?
Speaker 4 (37:15):
I think so. I think Josh Allen is easily one
of the best quarterbacks on inarguably one of, if not
the best team in the NFL. Right now, we'll see
how it goes against the San Francisco forty nine Ers.
My guess is, well, because the forty nine ers are smarting,
they don't have their full complement of skilled position players
(37:37):
they've been injured throughout a middle portion of this season,
and they're going on the road after a two game
losing streak to Buffalo where they're expecting weather. So if
they emerge victorious, I feel like he's going to be
somewhat of a front runner in that race.
Speaker 3 (37:53):
Seahawks trying to get back in this game against the Jets.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
They have a first and ten at the jets thirteen
yard line, and so again for the Seahawks, an opportunity
today perhaps to take over sole possession of first place
in the NFC West if they were to win and
the Cardinals were to lose on the road against the Vikings. Somehow,
I don't predict an NFC champion coming out of the
(38:19):
NFC West this year.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
Yeah, yeah, it's it has been a rough season for
the NFC West. You look at the Seahawks, they've been
less competitive than they have been in years past, although
they just get in the end zone on a barner score.
So Gino Smith finds his tight end and they make
this a fourteen to six ballgame in New York against
(38:41):
the New York Jets. We'll see if the ensuing extra
point is good. And you look at the Rams. They've
had their injuries. Forty nine ers. We just discussed the Cardinals.
They've been a bright spot. But with a loss today
against the Vikings, that puts more questions in the mix
in the NFC West, which it feels like nobody really
wants to win.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
One of the tests for the Chargers today on the
road against the Atlanta Falcons is no Dobbins. What a
story for Dobbins.
Speaker 9 (39:07):
Oh, I know?
Speaker 2 (39:07):
And this guy played what three game nine games in
the last three years, all these injuries, devastating injuries, Achilles
blown out in me, the whole shebang. He's had a
phenomenal you talk about comeback player of the year, He's
definitely in the mix. But without him today Rich Outside
of one sixteen yard run, the Chargers haven't had a
run over three yards so far in the first half
(39:29):
against Atlanta. And if you can't get the running game going,
then Justin Herbert's got to do it all himself and
that's when he can get into trouble. The big stat
on Herbert all year has been, you know, he just
hasn't thrown interceptions. But they've had nice balance in this offense.
If they don't get the running game going that could
be a problem.
Speaker 4 (39:48):
He's been a bad second half quarterback. If you look
at his QBR in the first half of ballgames and
looked at his QBR in the second half, he's really struggled.
So the halftime adjustments also to get better in LA
for the Chargers to have success this season.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
All right, we're live from the tire rack dot Com
studios with a whole lot more information you need for
all the latest around the NFL.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
Keep it here. This is Red Zone Radio. One woo
Win Gibson.
Speaker 9 (40:13):
Back deep to receive and one we will take it
from a one yard line, runs it out to the
fifteen to the twenty breaks a couple of tackles loose
at the thirty five to forty one.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
We'll left side line fifty.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
He's at the forty gets uplot he's got at the
twenty hut.
Speaker 10 (40:27):
The tag touchdown a Jet touchdown.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
That's one oh four point three Jets Radio Network.
Speaker 3 (40:38):
Wow, wake up the Jets.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
They are on fire, leading the Seahawks twenty one to seven,
nine minutes to go in the half. Also, they just
recovered a fumble off the Seahawks ensuing kickoff returns. So
the Jets right now are down to the twelve yard
line looking to increase their lead once again.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
This is Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
We are broadcasting live from the tire rackt Studios tire
rack dot Com. We're gonna get to there and unmatched selection,
fast reshipping, free road as a protection over ten thousand
recommended installers. Tire rack dot Com the way tire buying
should be all right. A little bit later on, the
Carolina Panthers are gonna be hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
and joining us right now.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
A man that needs no introduction, but I'll do it anyway.
He Chorus is one of the most esteemed names in
the history of Fox Sports, both television and radio. He
he dogged it for a little bit with me.
Speaker 4 (41:31):
You know.
Speaker 3 (41:31):
That was the low point of his broadcasting career, as
we hosted a show together, the infamous Myers and Hartman Show.
But now he's a superstar once again. The great Chris
Myers is joining us.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
Chris, I want to ask about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
because if anyone knows this franchise, it's you. You've been
doing their preseason game off and on for many many years.
There's still a lot of people look at that NFC
South saying, ah, I don't believe in the Falcons. The
Bucks are the team to beat, but they to get
a road win today against the Panthers. Where are is
(42:02):
this Tampa Bay team right now in your opinion going
into today's game.
Speaker 11 (42:08):
Well, they you know, they survived. Everybody has injuries. But
when they lost both Chris Gottwin and Mike Evans and men,
you think it would it would cripple a passing game.
But Baker, if you go back, Baker Mayfield has thrown
the most since he took over as the Tampa quarterback.
Remember he was benched in Carolina briefly went to the Rams.
But he's thrown more sorrow more touchdown passes at anybody
in the league coming into this week. And so they
(42:28):
just adjusted with their with their running backs. But I
think the reason that maybe people think they're still the
best in the division. And sorry about the noise here
him down on the field, is that tackle. A lot
of them are watching the of the big screen the
Charger Falcon game, that Bucks are there. I think their
defense is still the best in the in the division.
And that's something you know, Atlanta has a lot of
offensive toys, but when it comes down to defense, and
(42:49):
even with injuries in that area and the numbers, the
stats may not be as great, but Todd Bowles knows
how to blitz. We saw an example of that against
a weak Giants team and that's produced enough pressure and
they've actually been always good against the stopping the run.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
So I shot out.
Speaker 11 (43:04):
They're the favorites because they lost twice to Atlanta, but
they're very confident about, you know, winning out, and their
schedule is very favorable. They have the easiest schedule in
the NFC based on strength, a schedule that the rest
of the way, so they fully expect to be in
the playoffs for the for the fifth raight year.
Speaker 4 (43:19):
Yeah, you hate losing very important skill position players. You
hate losing four games straight. But then you come off
the bye week, you get the win against the Giants,
and you're playing against the Panthers who've struggled all season long.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
What do you expect to be the game plan today?
Speaker 4 (43:34):
Because the Panthers they really really have a hard time
stopping the run. Is that going to be a feature
of Tampa Bay's offense today?
Speaker 10 (43:42):
Yeah, I think you'll see.
Speaker 11 (43:43):
And they really found something in Bucky Irving, the rookie
running back from from Oregon with Rashad White. In fact,
they've been playing them in the backfield together more often
and it came out of the injury at receiver. Mike
Evans was back last week. Per he's a little better
this week. But they do plan on running the ball,
and you're right, the numbers prove.
Speaker 10 (44:04):
And although they played a heck of.
Speaker 11 (44:05):
A game last week against Kansas City and losing did
the Panthers, but they're giving up over one hundred and
sixty rush yards a game that is the worst in
the league. They're giving up the most points in the
league on an average game basis. So where they've improved
from a Carolinas standpoint is their quarterback playing a little
better on offense. But yeah, I think the game plan is,
you know, make sure Baker can keep the ground game going,
(44:27):
and they actually have. You know, it's a three bronked attack,
as Sean Tucker has got some time, the second year
free agent from Syracuse with Irving and White, and really
it's three and a half because Baker has turned into
an efficient runner when he needs to be to kind
of spice things up or put problems out there for
the for the defense, but they really do you know,
Baker likes to throw it. I think they want to
run it, at least the offensive coordinator, Liam Cohen, who's
(44:49):
a hot name, by the way on coaching list, like
Canals was last year. And this is Canalis's first game,
by the way as a head coach against the Buccaneers,
who he was with last year when he revital reinvigorated
Baker's career and his own to kind of get this opportunity.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
Chris we knew it was going to be a rough
year for the Panthers. They bench Bryce Young early in
the year. Now he's back playing a little bit better.
Are the Panthers still convinced that Bryce Young is their
answer quarterback moving.
Speaker 4 (45:20):
To the future.
Speaker 11 (45:21):
Yeah, I don't think they're convinced, but I think of
what because of what they gave up Steve and where
they drafted him, I think they have to give it
more time. But I will say, and I called some
of his games when he was he started out last
year and then a few games earlier this year. The benching,
I mean, I have seen the difference. He doesn't I
still I have a whole lot around him. I mean,
Tuba Hubbard is having a career year on the ground,
(45:43):
but Deland's been hurt. He's back. Now Lee gets a
rookie who's learning, so they're just I mean, David Moore
is kind of he's kind of a journeyman there. The
tight ends or not produced big for him. So but
he's gotten better about staying in the pocket and throwing
the ball instead of just taking off and running to
that first option has taken away. But what has stood
(46:03):
out about him is how he's handled the benching and
how even when he was on the practice squad or
I should say he was the play on the scout
team quarterback that impressed a lot of people.
Speaker 10 (46:13):
And after that.
Speaker 11 (46:14):
Tough game against Kansas City, he got up and addressed
the team in the locker room and the defense was
impressed by that. So his leadership skills maybe are coming out,
and I think they want to ride him the rest
of the year to further convince themselves that they made
the right thick and he is their future quarterback now.
Speaker 4 (46:29):
Chris Steve Hartman, my co host here, did speak about
your storied career and you have a book out detailing
you know, sort of the auto biographical you know, memoirs
of your career. How big of a chapter does Hartman
have in that book?
Speaker 11 (46:46):
You know what?
Speaker 10 (46:47):
I well, No, I mean I was able to continue
my career just fight working with Steve Martin. I think
that's how I'm kidding now, I'm kending I had a
lot of fun with Steve's the real bro through the
years TV radio.
Speaker 11 (47:00):
He rolls with things. He's always enter, he does how
to stir things up right. He's a real antagonist that
I'd be that a in an entertaining kind of media way.
But he does know, he does know his stuff. But yeah,
the book I wrote it, it's from the inside out.
It's the will moments in sports, there's a lot of them,
Super Bowls, World Series, but my through my lens of
covering things and even things that went beyond sports, like
(47:21):
the O. J. Simpson interview and being at the earthquake
World Series and reporting on it, being at the Olympic
bombing and reporting on it, Dale Earnhardt's tragic death. I mean,
there's some spots where you go, man, I got into
this to cover sports, and how did I get here?
Speaker 1 (47:33):
Now?
Speaker 11 (47:33):
I got to tell an audience about it? So and
a lot of you know, and Bill Murray wrote the forward,
so there's some entertaining moments with Barkley behind the scenes
that didn't no worry, I didn't cross any boundaries of privacy.
But no, I appreciate you mentioning the book because there
was a lot and a lot of you know, how
my career began in radio, so they limited me, believe
it or not, and how many, how many chapters that
(47:54):
I could put into the book. But this may just
be the first of many, how about that? So Steve
may have a future at this There you go.
Speaker 3 (47:59):
I will personally dedicate the book in my honor, even
if there's absolutely no mention to me anywhere in the book.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
But Chris, we'll enjoy the game today again the Buccaneers
with an opportunity. We'll see what happens with Atlanta today.
Obviously a tough game hosting the Chargers. They need to
win this game on the road against the Panthers, and
once again the legend himself, Chris Myers, will be on
the call.
Speaker 3 (48:22):
Chris, great stuff, enjoy the game. We'll talk to you
down the road, all right.
Speaker 11 (48:26):
Thanks and Rich That's one thing about Steve, he always
makes it about himself. Even if.
Speaker 3 (48:32):
About that, tell you very.
Speaker 2 (48:34):
Much the great Chris Myers. Now that he's off there,
I'll share a very quick story. So Myers and I
got thrown together on the national radio show. This is
back in two thousand and nine, no forewarning to the audience.
You know, I was doing a show with Michael Thompson
and Victor Briock Jacobs in Los Angeles. The next day,
LA was listening along with the rest of the country
(48:54):
to Myers and Hartman. So the first day we did
a lot of interviews. You know, Chris is the master
of interviews. You know, he took over for Roy Firestone
on the show for years. He does great interviews. So
we did a lot of interviews that day, the first day,
and our boss wasn't happy with that many interviews, so
he called me and I said, it'll be different tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (49:14):
So we open up the show. Chris is opening the show,
and I am just interrupting, like everything out of his mouth.
Speaker 4 (49:20):
I'm going the office of way.
Speaker 3 (49:21):
This is in the first segment of the show, right
across the hall from where we're sitting right now.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
So we get to the first break and Chris gets up.
He doesn't say anything. He goes out the door. I
thought he went to the bathroom.
Speaker 3 (49:30):
He didn't. He went down the hall to one of
the other management people and said, there's no F and
way I'm doing a show like this. Okay, there is
no F and way I'm doing. We never had a crossword.
We love each other. We've known each other. I first
got to know him when he was working with ESPN.
He took over from my buddy Jim Gray in covering
the LA beat when I was still the media relations
(49:51):
director for the Raiders.
Speaker 8 (49:52):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (49:52):
That was nineteen eighty eight. Wow, that's how long Myers
and I have known each other.
Speaker 2 (49:56):
All right, coming up on the other side, we're gonna
get chumped in on the seven around the NFL. By
the way, one quick note we mentioned the Jets after
recovering the kickoff a tip pass by Aaron Rodgers intercepted
by Leonard Williams, of all people, he runs ninety one.
Speaker 3 (50:12):
Yards for a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
So instead of the Jets going up twenty eight to
seven at that point, they're now leading twenty one to thirteen.
By the way, the Jets had an extra point blocked
earlier in the game. This time, the Seahawks had an
extra point block, so twenty one to thirteen, Jets over
the Seahawks. We continue on with everything you need in
terms of NFL information.
Speaker 3 (50:32):
This is Red Zone Radio. Wilson in the shotgun, he
has Naji Harris to his left. He motions Van Jefferson
right to left across the formation. Now he gets a snap,
We'll pitch to Naji Harris.
Speaker 4 (50:42):
To the left side, and Naji Harris finds increased and
he's into the end zone for the score.
Speaker 2 (50:47):
That's one oh two point five WDVE Steelers Radio Network.
How about this game, Steelers Bengals in a shootout twenty
one all, four and a half minutes to go in
the first half.
Speaker 3 (50:59):
Once again Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (51:00):
Here Steve Harbin and Rich Armberger rely from the ti
iraq dot com studios updating the scoreboard. They're at the half.
This game has been motoring. Chargers lead the Falcons nine
to seven. Also, the Cardinals lead the Vikings nine to six.
That game is at the half. Thirty seconds to go
(51:21):
in the half. Patriots lead the Colts sixteen to fourteen.
Jets over the Seahawks now twenty one to sixteen. What
looked like a Jets blowout is not four minutes to
go on the first half there.
Speaker 3 (51:33):
This game is a blowout. Commanders twenty eight Titans nothing
two minutes to go in the first half there and
the ugly game of the day.
Speaker 2 (51:41):
Texans lead the Jaguars six nothing with inside two minutes
to go. The story in that game was Trevor Lawrence
on a scramble slid and he got speared by a
Texans defender.
Speaker 3 (51:56):
All hell broke loose on the field. Trevor Lawren was
carted off the field after that hit. There's gonna be
some heavy fines after that one.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
But obviously members of that Jaguars team jumped the guy
from the Texans after a blatant spearing with Trevor Lawrence
on the field.
Speaker 4 (52:15):
Yeah, it was a z's al shit year with the
hit on Trevor Lawrence, and it was intentional. Trevor Lawrence
was giving himself up on the play and he led
with his helmet his shoulder knocked Trevor Lawrence unconscious and
it was immediate the retribution from the Jacksonville Jaguars, as
it should be. When that happens to one of your guys,
(52:36):
especially your quarterback, you go in for him, and that's
what it should look like. So unfortunately for the Jags,
as soon as Trevor Lawrence is getting back healthy, he's
out again.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
And who knows for how long a similar.
Speaker 4 (52:48):
Hit put to a tongue of Vailoa on injured reserve
this season, and so we'll see what the outcome is
in terms of his health and his availability. But first
and foremost, you know, you just hope that he's okay.
Today they showed him riding shotgun in the cart as
he was making his way off the field.
Speaker 2 (53:05):
All right, some stats at halftime right now. Battle of
the quarterbacks in that Chargers Falcons game almost the same.
In fact, a couple of their stats are identical. Justin
Herbert eleven of fifteen and Kirk Cousins eleven of fifteen.
Herbert for one hundred and fifteen yards, Cousins for seventy
nine yards and he threw a pick. Yeah, so Kirk
(53:26):
Cousins numbers are definitely come down in recent weeks. Remember
he had a run there about three or four games
when he was red hot and suddenly he's looking very ordinary. Well,
here's the thing, and again, the Chargers do have a
good defense.
Speaker 3 (53:40):
They do.
Speaker 4 (53:40):
Yeah, the Chargers, that should not be an underrated part
of the story, are very talented defensively, and they've done
a nice job this season facing talented quarterbacks all season long.
They've really done nice work there. Yeah. In terms of
Kirk Cousins, I mentioned it when we opened the show
because we knew we were gonna have Falcons Chargers on
one of the big screens in studios. It's one of
(54:02):
those seasons for Kirk Cousins and the Falcons where you
kind of knew there were gonna be hiccups. We saw
some early, they got it rolling a little bit, we're
seeing some now. It takes time. It takes time for
an offense to find their identity. Sometimes it takes an
entire season, especially with a brand new face at quarterback.
It's looked so much better than it did last year.
Speaker 3 (54:22):
Though.
Speaker 4 (54:23):
The Atlanta Falcons are so much better off with Kirk
Cousins than they were with the the mis mosh mixed
bag of quarterbacks that they were throwing out there and
starting at various points last season.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
The Steelers just got a field goal to retake the
late twenty four to twenty one over the Bengals three
and a half minutes ago in the half. So I'm
trying to put some context to the Steelers offensive numbers,
because they're pretty impressive. Russell Wilson fifteen to twenty one,
one hundred and ninety eight yards, two touchdowns. He did
throw the pick six earlier in the game. But how
much is that the Steelers offense as opposed to how
(54:57):
bad the Bengals defense is.
Speaker 4 (54:59):
The Bengals defense stops nobody. It's been the problem this
entire season for the Bengals. In many of their losses,
they've got piled up on. The loss to the Eagles
recently they allowed thirty seven points, the loss to the
Ravens they allowed thirty five points, and the loss last
week to the Chargers they allowed thirty four points. So
(55:22):
this is a Bengals team. Even in the win the
victory over the Raiders three weeks ago, they allowed the
Raiders to score twenty four So, I mean, they just
they have such a hard time both defending the run
and the pass.
Speaker 3 (55:36):
It's been an awful.
Speaker 4 (55:38):
Season and it's such a shame because you're really wasting
one of Joe Burrow's better seasons as a quarterback.
Speaker 2 (55:45):
By the way, the Patriots had already gotten three field
goals in the first half against the Cole Sligh is
their kicker, and he just missed a twenty five yard.
Speaker 3 (55:56):
Field goal before the half.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
I I had a fifty four yard er, thirty one yarder,
at thirty five yarder. He misses a twenty five yarder
at the half. So the Patriots lead the Colts sixteen
to fourteen. That game is now done in the first half.
And in this game, Drake May is putting up some
pretty impressive numbers rich seventeen of twenty one hundred and
sixty nine yards and a touchdown. Plus they have one
(56:21):
hundred and twenty four yards on the ground. So that's
a Patriots offense that rolled up two hundred and seventy
nine yards of offense in the first halt. It's been
a long time since we've seen a first half of
offense like that from the Patriots.
Speaker 3 (56:33):
I like him. I like Drake May. He's got good
athletic ability.
Speaker 4 (56:37):
He's quick for his size, and he's a big quarterback
at six foot four almost two hundred and thirty pounds.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
He had a forty one yard run in that first half.
Speaker 4 (56:45):
He threatens defenses with both his arms and his with
his arm strength and his legs, and he throws with
a tremendous amount of velocity. He could throw the football
anywhere on the field. Look, Drake may is a quality,
quality quarterback. He was good at UNC. I shouldn't say good.
He was exceptional at UNC. He was arguably one of
(57:06):
the best quarterbacks to come through that system in a
long time. And as a Patriot, Look, this is a
team bereft of a lot of talent. It's not like
you look around the Patriots roster and you go, oh man,
they got real game changers at receiver or running back
or tight end for that matter. He's finding a lot
(57:26):
of different receivers. He's making that team offensively look much
better than they are.
Speaker 3 (57:30):
I want to get back to this Jets Seahawks game.
So here's where we were.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
The Jets had a kickoff return for a touchdown to
take a twenty one to seven lead. They then kicked
off to the Seahawks. The kickoff was fumbled on the catch,
then picked up by the receiver. He ran down the field,
which and I thought he went down when he fumbled,
but they ruled it a fumble anyway, gave the ball
to the Jets. They were driving down looking to take
(57:54):
about maybe a twenty eight to seven lead, and.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
Rogers has a pass that is tipped and Leonard Williams,
this defensive tackle, intercepts the tip pass and goes ninety one.
Speaker 2 (58:08):
How many defensive tackles can run ninety one yards for
a touchdown unbelievable, But Leonard Williams did. And then the
extra point was blocked and the Seahawks get a field goal.
So this game looked like the Jets were about to
put it away. Instead, the Jets just punted right now.
So the Seahawks take over with about a minute remaining
in a half and only trailing by a score of
(58:29):
twenty one to sixteen. And this is the thing, you know,
good teams, We've seen this with the Chiefs all season long.
Good teams find a way to win. Yeah, bad teams
find a way to lose. That is correct, And that's
where the Jets are right now.
Speaker 4 (58:41):
The Jets are a bad team. I don't think they're
led particularly well. There was obvious issues between Robert Sala
and Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 3 (58:49):
It felt like an ego.
Speaker 4 (58:52):
An ego situation where neither side would yield you remember
going all the way back to the offseason when Aaron
Rodgers was missing some mandatory stuff instead of protecting his
quarterback and saying, hey, was understood that he's gonna miss
mandatory things this year. This was all discussed in the preseason.
You know, he discussed it as an inexcused absence, and
it's like, what are you doing? What are you doing?
Speaker 3 (59:14):
I mean, no offense. I get it.
Speaker 4 (59:16):
You're trying to build a culture, and I completely understand
what the attempt was there, But you got to understand
the room you're in. Your owner has literally just moved
heaven and earth to get Aaron Rodgers in the building,
and you're gonna create an enemy.
Speaker 3 (59:31):
This is your this is your lunch ticket, this.
Speaker 4 (59:33):
Is your whole life is depending on Aaron Rodgers feeling
comfortable having success. He's coming off the Achilles tear, and
you're gonna get upset at him and publicly condemn him
for missing a mandatory team practice.
Speaker 3 (59:47):
Look, here's the deal. I get it.
Speaker 4 (59:49):
If it were any other player in the organization, you
could come down pretty hard on them, But you can't
do it to the guy that the owner is throwing
all of his chips behind and so as it was
that was a strained relationship.
Speaker 3 (01:00:02):
He gets gone. There's a leadership void.
Speaker 4 (01:00:05):
Aaron Rodgers can't fill it because, frankly, I kind of
feel like this team is afraid of him. His teammates
have discussed where you know, and this has all been
written about. There was that giant twenty thousand word espnx
bose on the culture inside the locker room. It feels
like Aaron Rodgers is a coach or this omnission being
(01:00:26):
floating somewhere above the rest of the locker room, and
guys are trying to win for him. It's a bizarre circumstance,
and it's just not a circumstance that really feeds the
effort of winning football games. Although I say all that,
and this three win team right now is leading the
Seahawks at home.
Speaker 3 (01:00:45):
Yeah, it looks like it going to a half right now,
twenty one to sixteen. The Jets lead the Seahawks. All right,
let's get.
Speaker 2 (01:00:51):
In a little early right now, as we are heading
to halftime with all these games around the NFL, find
out what is trending?
Speaker 3 (01:00:58):
Has Mantzi? Is there any news out of your fantasy
football today, anything exciting happening.
Speaker 4 (01:01:04):
Listen.
Speaker 8 (01:01:05):
I don't want to drink set, but they're all looking
pretty good today.
Speaker 3 (01:01:08):
Oh, I like that, So I don't want to drink set.
Speaker 8 (01:01:10):
There's plenty of game left, but I've had a couple
of players do some damage already, like Chase Brown for
the Bengals, who has a carry sixty one yards and
a touchdown. The Bengals aren't losing to the Steelers though,
at home twenty four to twenty one. Bengals currently have
the ball, but I think they're about to maybe punt
it off.
Speaker 7 (01:01:28):
There's two minutes to go in the first half of
this one.
Speaker 8 (01:01:30):
The Chargers in the Falcons officially in the third quarter
with LA on top nine to seven. Falcons started the ball,
started the third quarter with the ball in their hands.
The Cardinals are beating the Vikings nine to six at halftime.
Speaker 7 (01:01:42):
Nine to six.
Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
Yeah, and Minnesota, by the way, only has seventy five
total yards at home and has against Arizona.
Speaker 7 (01:01:50):
Has Justin Jefferson been targeted at all?
Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
He has two catches.
Speaker 8 (01:01:54):
Two catches, Because I said to Bo at some point
in the first half, I was like, he has no
targets yet, Justin Jefferson, So there's that one. At halftime,
the Patriots are reading the Colt sixteen fourteen Drake May
seventeen to twenty one hundred and sixty nine yards and
a touchdown so far in the game. The Seahawks and
the Jets game is drunk. This is the one that
is drunk. On this Sunday morning. The Jets, you know,
(01:02:14):
had a ninety nine yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Seattle responded with a ninety two yard pick six. Since then,
New York has turned the ball over on downs and
has punted. Then, the Seahawks punted, and the Jets currently
have the ball, but they're six seconds to go before
they head to halftime.
Speaker 7 (01:02:29):
Hey, the Titans on the scoreboard, Will Levice with a
touchdown pass.
Speaker 8 (01:02:33):
The Commanders are still on top though twenty eight to six,
about twenty seconds to go in the first half. The
Texans and the Jaguars are at halftime with Houston on
top six ' three. A brutal hit on quarterback Trevor
Lawrence resulting in the ejection of you guys mentioned Texans
linebacker as He's Al Shaier. Also, Jaguars cornerback Jerry and
Jones was also ejected probably defending his quarterback that took
(01:02:56):
a very nasty hit was immediately ruled out.
Speaker 7 (01:02:58):
For the rest of the game with the head injury.
Mac Jones is in for the Jags.
Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Back to you, guys, Yeah, when you mentioned the Titans,
I'm thinking break up the Titans.
Speaker 3 (01:03:08):
Literally break up, Yeah, the Titans.
Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
That is an organization of big mets right now, Matzi, thanks, We'll.
Speaker 3 (01:03:14):
Check in with you a little bit later on.
Speaker 2 (01:03:16):
Although heedge Bean, the Titans did get a score before
the half, so twenty eight to seven now commanders comfortably
ahead of those Tennessee Titans. This is Red Zone Radio,
all right, So Rich, you know, as we get the halftime,
I like to take a look ahead at some of
the games a little bit later on, and it's really
weird that this game is not a primetime game. But
(01:03:38):
understand this, Fox and CBS, they control the NFC and AFC,
and they get a choice during the course of the
year certain games they want to keep, and CBS definitely
wanted to keep this game.
Speaker 3 (01:03:49):
Today later on, the Eagles on the road against the Ravens.
Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
The Ravens, it's sort of weird that this team is
eight and four because you feel like They're in the
conversation of best team in the NFL, but they've had
a couple of stumbles along the way. Meanwhile, the Eagles
coming out that big win against the Rams and the
huge game for Saquon Barkley, who you know now obviously
(01:04:13):
is being taken seriously as an MVP contender.
Speaker 3 (01:04:18):
Where are you leaning in this game right now?
Speaker 4 (01:04:20):
Well, I'm leading towards the Eagles. The Ravens. If you
look at their season, who have they beaten? I mean, okay,
so they played the Chiefs, they lost to them by
a toe. They they now, granted they did lose by
only a toe. Isaiah likely was right there on the stripe.
(01:04:41):
They beat the Bills earlier in the season when the
before the Bills started to figure it out. But I mean,
you look at their their season. They lost to the Steelers,
they lost to the Browns. I mean they look good
against the Chargers. Yeah, I mean who are the Chargers though?
I mean, well, you know, I mean the charge the Chargers.
I mean, right now, playoff team?
Speaker 1 (01:05:01):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:05:01):
Are the Chargers gonna be in the AFC Championship Game?
Are the Chargers going to be a team that has
any chance to win the Super Bowl.
Speaker 8 (01:05:08):
Like.
Speaker 4 (01:05:09):
My point is the Ravens should be so much better
the Ravens. The Ravens should have a record that looks
like the Chiefs. My biggest problem with the Ravens is
Lamar Jackson. It feels like in big moments, there are
certain players that take over football games, Like when Patrick
Mahomes was giving the ball back even though they were
(01:05:31):
they looked awful against the Carolina Panthers with an opportunity
to drive the field and win the game. You knew
it was gonna happen. You just trust him. You just
trust him every single time. Same feeling with Tom Brady,
same feeling with Drew Brees when he was playing. Same
feeling with Peyton Manning. Those were MVPs. Those are special quarterbacks.
You felt good when they had the ball last. I
(01:05:52):
don't feel that way with Lamar Jackson. I don't trust
him like I trust Patrick Mahomes. There's something missing from
the makeup, and I don't know what it is, but
it's that clutch factor for sure, and it's going to
haunt this team until he figures that out.
Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
Well, remember this, every single player in the Super Bowl
era that has won at least two MVP awards has
also won at least won Super Bowl, except Lamar Jackson,
who's yet to even make it to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (01:06:19):
So this is going to be.
Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
One of those you know arguments about you know players.
I mean, statistically, he's already surpassed last year's totals. I
mean this he is having an unbelievable statistical you're more
on part of his first MVP season. But as you say,
it's not necessarily translating right now in terms of wins
and losses. So getting back to the Eagles, then, Rich,
(01:06:43):
we've been talking Lions, Lions, Lions, Lions, the game on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (01:06:48):
We haven't really touched on the Thanksgiving games.
Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
There wasn't a whole lot to watch, yeah, you know,
but the end of that game obviously was one to watch.
You know, in terms of the Lions surviving that game
against the Bears. Do you think the gap between the
Lions and the Eagles is narrowing right now? Yeah, especially
(01:07:12):
with some of the defensive injuries that the Lions have
been suffering.
Speaker 4 (01:07:15):
I do, because and it's mainly because of Saquon Barkley.
I mean, what do the Lions have that the rest
of the league really doesn't. It's that unbelievably unbelievable security
in the run game. Yeah, you know, no matter what, Monster,
Montgomery and Gibbs are gonna get you there. Well, all
of a sudden, the Eagles, they've really thrown in behind
(01:07:36):
Saquon Barkley that has become the feature piece of this offense.
And I support it because why not. I mean, feed
the hottest hand on the team. Saquon Barkley undoubtedly is
making everything easier for Jaialen Hurts. You know, you have
more weapons available when you have more attention being paid
to the line of scrimmage. And so I do think
the gap is closing between the Eagles and the Lions.
Speaker 12 (01:07:57):
It probably a really interesting matchup, just because what the
one thing Lions do is they don't like anyone running
on them and they've stopped a lot of running backs.
But to the injuries you mentioned, some one of my
friends from pod pulled up like they're full fifty three
from the start of the year. There are only three
names between defensive tackles, defensive ends, and linebackers that are
(01:08:19):
still healthy from the start of the year. Everyone else
is Scratch, Lee McNeil, DJ reader, Jack Campbell, that's it.
Everyone else has been on ir or they're out for
an extended amount of time, like they are really hurting
up front.
Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
Well, I mean, and it could tell, like you said,
going against a team that's Christy course a resident to
Lions experts. So I'm gonna ask you, plus I'm gonna
ask mister Eagles himself bow right now, where do you
guys stand on the gap right now between the Lions
and the Eagles. Is it a coin toss or do
(01:08:53):
you think one team still has the advantage.
Speaker 5 (01:08:56):
I mean, I think the Lions still have the advantage
just because as they are ten and one or eleven
in one, I think right until until they have to
leave a dome, they're gonna have the advantage. They have
restocked well all year. Their best player is probably Pinay Suel.
They're they're left tackle, right tackle, whatever wherever he plays.
But as long as they had that offensive line and
Gibbs and Montgomery can do what they do, they should
(01:09:18):
be the favorites against everybody.
Speaker 12 (01:09:20):
And again, like I think Aaron Glenn is assistant coach
of the year right now, I can say that like
he's coaching up third stringers like Al Kadeen Mohammad, who
is getting quarterback pressures against the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving,
and like give credit to their front off because they're still.
Speaker 3 (01:09:34):
Going out there.
Speaker 12 (01:09:34):
They just picked up Uwan Alexander and Jamal Adams. They're
trying to restock on the fly. But that's just how
banged up they are. But you know they're getting Zadarius
Smith going, you know, their big trade deadline pickup. I
still give the edge to the to the Lions, but
with each passing week of these injuries, it's thinning a
little bit further.
Speaker 3 (01:09:52):
Yeah, it definitely is.
Speaker 4 (01:09:54):
Durability is your most important ability, especially in the month
of December and Detroit.
Speaker 3 (01:09:59):
Reinforcements the playoffs. But it can't come fascinating.
Speaker 4 (01:10:02):
Yeah, they're getting thin at the wrong time, and that
confidence factor is important because when you get thin, when
you experience injuries, it can knock you off course you
start doing things uncharacteristic. We've seen some of that with
Jared Goff as the season rolled on. He's looked so
much better to start this season than he did as
the seasons wore on, and for obvious reasons, it's not
(01:10:22):
the same team that he started with. The defense isn't
as stout as the defense he had when he started
this season. So yeah, I think that gap is closing.
I don't think it's quite I don't think it's quite
there yet. But a win over the Baltimore Ravens changes
the complexity of the conversation around the Eagles in a
big way.
Speaker 3 (01:10:40):
Absolutely it does.
Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
All right, halftime, now Steelers added a field goal twenty seven,
twenty one, So this game's going over, folks. Oh yeah,
And by the way, Russell Wilson is on pace for
a five hundred and fourteen yard passing day. Two hundred
and fifty seven yards passing in the first half. When
(01:11:02):
was the last time we saw Steeler quarterback have that
many yards passing in a first half of that is
how good they're throwing the ball. He did throw a
pick six, which is one reason why the Bengals are
still in this game, but it also points out that
the Bengals pass defense is non existent.
Speaker 4 (01:11:18):
Oh yeah, I mean, and it's happening for Russell Wilson.
I mean nine and a half yards per pass play.
I mean he's getting the ball downfield, He's getting the
ball into the hands of his playmakers. They're making special
things happen with the football. But again, you have to
throw that through the prism of the Bengals defense, which
has struggled this season defending against all aspects of offensive football.
(01:11:40):
I mean, they have been really, really bad, and we
were discussing it just a moment ago. Joe Burrow is
having a phenomenal season. He's having a successful game here.
I mean, it's not anything, you know, like what we're
seeing with Russell Wilson, but he's efficient. He's completed twelve
to fifteen passes. He's got one hundred yards. The touchdown,
(01:12:00):
and it was a beautiful touchdown, throwing the low red
zone to Jamar Chase where he climbed the pocket, he
was facing pressure. He finds Chase on the scramble drill
he's coming across on a crossing route, beats his defender
for six points. But it's just not enough because the
Steelers right now are pounding the Bengals defense.
Speaker 2 (01:12:18):
Zach Taylor, remember he took over a bad Bengals team
and they were awful his first two years. They stuck
with him. Next thing you know, they're in the Super Bowl.
The next year they lose the AFC championship game to
the Chiefs. So they're flying high. Last year's step back,
but again, Joe Burrow was not one hundred percent. Well,
Joe Burrow is one hundred percent this year and putting
(01:12:39):
up some pretty lofty numbers. And this team is in
trouble big time. They could be falling to four and eight.
Is Zach Taylor in trouble? If this team goes six
and eleven this year with a healthy Joe Burrow, is
he done?
Speaker 3 (01:12:55):
I don't know if he's done. I mean six years
with the team. It's not like they just hired this guy.
There's a blood letting.
Speaker 4 (01:13:01):
And also you have to remember when you think about
the Cincinnati Bengals, they lost Brian Callahan, their offensive coordinator,
so you knew it was gonna be a little bit
of an issue this season. The odd thing is they're
worse on defense than they are in offense. Right, Like
we just mentioned, like the offense has been good, it's
been what's carried this team through the wins they've had.
Speaker 3 (01:13:23):
Jamar Chase has thirteen touchdown reception.
Speaker 4 (01:13:26):
You know, I look at that division, I'd say Kevin
Stefanski has a greater shot of losing his job than
Zach Taylor. I mean, you just look at the mess
that the Browns have gotten themselves in in terms of
the quarterback contract they signed with Deshaun Watson. How talent
that that team is outside of the quarterback position. He
could go from coach to the year to the outhouse
(01:13:48):
here in just a year's time in Cleveland. I think
Zach Taylor is on. I think his seed is warming up.
Let's put it that way. If they finished the season
with six wins, it is absolutely a conversation ownership going
to have In Cincinnati.
Speaker 2 (01:14:01):
Fawking just got a field goal. They have retaken the
lead ten to nine over the Chargers. All right, second
half's underway. Seven games around the NFL for all the latest,
keep it here. This is Red Zone Radio Steve Harbin
and Rich Harnberger here Red Zone Radio Lie from the
tire Raq dot com studios. As you can hear, we're
into the holiday season.
Speaker 3 (01:14:24):
So your Thanksgiving, I take was success. Did all the
cooking celebrated with family? It was great?
Speaker 4 (01:14:32):
You know, In fact, tried a new side dish for
the first time.
Speaker 3 (01:14:34):
Really, what was the side dish? Sweet potato castle? Never
made it before?
Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
Okay, now what was the spin that you put on it. Well,
so I use corn flakes as part of.
Speaker 4 (01:14:45):
The topping interest interesting, Yeah, so I did brown sugar
crushed corn flakes, pecans and some butter, and there was
a little bit of flour. I mix it all together
in that and then obviously the marshmallows on top.
Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
And and that was.
Speaker 4 (01:15:01):
What was on top of the already very sweet cast role.
And I'll tell you what came out perfectly gave the
the crisp crunch that you're looking.
Speaker 3 (01:15:10):
For, to say, And the real test comes with tie
in Sebastian. So how do they like it?
Speaker 4 (01:15:16):
Well, both of them tried it. I don't think either
of them really enjoyed it. So yeah, so the boys
they have leftovers for dad.
Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
That's exactly correct.
Speaker 4 (01:15:26):
I was gonna say the boys did not partake, but
that just meant that the next day and the next
day after Thanksgiving, where was the benefactor.
Speaker 12 (01:15:35):
We'll get around to it. It's a sweet potatoes. I don't know,
hollywod can turn those up. It's a quiet taste, I guess.
Speaker 2 (01:15:40):
Yeah, yeah, if they're you know, it's it's like Brussels sprouts.
We have Brussels sprouts on our Thanksgiving table. If they're prepared.
Speaker 3 (01:15:48):
Properly, I love them. Yeah, I mean like I love them.
If they're not, they're very You know, this is the
second time this this holiday week Brussels sprouts have come up,
so I forget what other show I was on that
was talking about them. With Doug Gottlieb.
Speaker 12 (01:16:01):
We were talking about how it used to be everyone
would steam Brussels sprouts and they were disgusting. But then
I figured out, you know, you could sautee them or
you bake them. Yeah, and they're amazing with the right
you know, with the right dressing.
Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (01:16:14):
Here's the thing I think we can all we can
all just agree. It's not the Brussels sprouts. It's the
bacon that you put with the brussels, thank you very much.
I mean, bacon makes everything better.
Speaker 3 (01:16:24):
Shocking.
Speaker 4 (01:16:26):
It took us until like the two thousands to figure
out that bacon makes donuts better.
Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
But I mean, oh yeah, now, did you think of
adding bacon to your sweet potato cast role.
Speaker 4 (01:16:35):
I'll tell you right now I didn't. And guess what's
getting added next year? There you go.
Speaker 12 (01:16:40):
Let me give a tip for Brussels sprouts for people
at home. Saute. Yeah, truffle oil.
Speaker 3 (01:16:45):
Oh yeah, well, I mean, yeah, that's it's like making
truffle oil is another guarantee.
Speaker 2 (01:16:50):
All right, Cardinals just added a field goal, so they've
increased their lead twelve to six over the Vikings. And
as I said, the real story in this game right
now is where the hell the Vikings offense? Eight minutes
to go in the third quarter, rich and the Vikings
have ninety two total yards.
Speaker 3 (01:17:07):
Yikes, yeah against the Cardinals. It's pretty amazing.
Speaker 4 (01:17:11):
Again.
Speaker 2 (01:17:12):
Cardinals, by the way, have two hundred and sixty yards
in this game.
Speaker 4 (01:17:15):
I was gonna say how the Cardinals have played defense,
and it hasn't been consistently throughout the year, but there
have been some real moments where you're like, whoa the Cardinals.
I mean, they shut down the Rams. Earlier this season,
they held them to ten points in a loss to
the Detroit Lions. If you remember it was a home
(01:17:35):
game for the Cardinals. They held the Lions to twenty points.
They've had one of those years where.
Speaker 2 (01:17:42):
Road wins against the forty nine ers, road win cross
the country against the Dolphins.
Speaker 4 (01:17:47):
Yeah yeah, And they gave the Bills on the opening
weekend of the NFL all they could handle in a loss.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
And then all of a sudden, they scored six points
last week against Seattle, Like what was that.
Speaker 4 (01:17:58):
They've been hot and cold, but there are certain games
where their defense is just on a heater. They're getting
after the quarterback, they're locking down receivers. That's exactly what's
happened today against Sam Donald. Sam Donald's gotten hit a
lot today.
Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
The Chargers offense has not gotten in the end zone today.
Rich Justin Herbert's been sacked four times again. Outside of
a sixteen yard run, they have one run of nine yards.
They have no running game today forty one yards rushing
against this Atlanta defense, So it's putting a lot of
pressure on Herbert to guarantee it to his run. Passing game,
(01:18:33):
how about this, He's completed fourteen passes for one hundred
and forty yards. Lad McConkie has nine catches for one
hundred and seventeen yards. They have one receiver, Quentin Johnston,
who was dropping passes all over the place last week,
one catch for eight yards. He is a complete bust
for this team. So they only have one receiver with
more than one catch in this game, and McConkie has nine.
Speaker 4 (01:18:57):
Yeah, he's been sacked Justin Herbert four times today, He's
been hit seven times. I mean, this Falcons defense is
just getting after him. And unfortunately for Justin Herbert this
entire season, he's really struggled in the second half. Like
we talked about in the first hour of the show, Steve,
Justin Herbert at halftime. Whatever the adjustments that are getting
(01:19:19):
explained to him by his offensive coordinator Greg Roman or
Jim Harbaugh, they're either not landing the right way, or
he's not taking them to heart, or they're the wrong adjustments.
Because he's been a much worse second half quarterback and
this offensive line has not fit the bill protecting him.
He's getting savage today. And so it doesn't shock me
(01:19:41):
at all that the Chargers haven't seen the end zone yet.
Plus losing Dobbins is a big hit to their run game.
Just watch Sam Darnold gets sacked again. So the Vikings
offense is completely out of sorts right now.
Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
Against Arizona. That pass incomplete. So the Cardinals lay that
game twelve to six. All Right, we have a whole
lot more coming down the stretch. With seven games around
the NFL keep it here for all the info you need.
Speaker 3 (01:20:04):
This is Red Zone Radio. Kyle Pitts left Pijon in
the backfield. They take the snap, looking right, throwing.
Speaker 13 (01:20:11):
Right, intercepted left sideline, thirty twenty tar pepe still touchdown. Shugers,
Oh fear the turtle, the rookie with his third interception
of the season, the second of this game, and he
takes it all the way to pay dirt.
Speaker 2 (01:20:32):
That's KYSR ninety eight to seven Chargers Radio Network.
Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Who needs offense when you got that defense?
Speaker 2 (01:20:38):
A pick six for the Chargers giving them a seventeen
to ten lead on the road against the Atlanta Falcons.
Speaker 3 (01:20:45):
This is the Red Zone Radio.
Speaker 2 (01:20:46):
We are broadcasting live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Speaker 3 (01:20:50):
Tire rack dot Com. We're gonna get you there.
Speaker 2 (01:20:52):
Unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free road ads of protection,
over ten thousand recommended installers, tire rack dot.
Speaker 3 (01:20:59):
Com the way tiger buying should be.
Speaker 2 (01:21:02):
And again we get back to this whole idea that
good teams find ways to win, bad teams find ways
to lose. Good coaches find ways to win games, and
Jim Harbaugh is certainly on that short list.
Speaker 4 (01:21:17):
The elite hang on. Now they took the lead, granted
seventeen to ten. Right now in Atlanta, you.
Speaker 3 (01:21:24):
Think Atlanta's going to come back to win this game.
Speaker 4 (01:21:26):
Jim Harbaugh had nothing to do. He was everything aw full.
Throw that Kirk so Kirk Cousins through this lazy pass
out to the flat.
Speaker 2 (01:21:35):
You didn't see this stare that Jim hab Himmings in
a five yard pass was unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (01:21:43):
He threw it that late, that poorly to that area
of the field, and then the Chargers just took it
and ran it to the house. By the way, Chargers
right now just let off a huge place. So kirk
Cousins comes back.
Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
He throws who going for another pick six and missing
a ball with some pace this time to the same
area of the football field, and McLeod takes it all
the way down to the Chargers five yard line. So
that's the way the ball is supposed to be thrown.
Speaker 4 (01:22:10):
If he would have thrown the last pass with a
little pace, it would have been taken to the house.
So now the Atlanta Falcons, trolling by seven at home,
are knocking on the door inside the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
As ice Yard had great coaches like Raheem Morris know
how to win games, meanwhile knowing how to lose games.
The Seahawks right now have a third and goal at
the Jets one yard line.
Speaker 3 (01:22:35):
Jets were leading this game twenty one to seven.
Speaker 2 (01:22:38):
They were in a position to increase that lead, and
then a pick six got the Seahawks back in the game.
And with six minutes go in the third quarter, they're
knocking on the door to take the lead from the
hapless Jets.
Speaker 4 (01:22:51):
Yeah, third and one down there at the Jets one
yard line, and we'll see what happens here. I mean,
I'll tell you what you just like you said, good
teams find a way to win games.
Speaker 3 (01:23:02):
Bad teams find a way to lose.
Speaker 4 (01:23:04):
I don't know how great the Seahawks are, but I
can tell you the Jets are a bad team.
Speaker 3 (01:23:08):
Yeah, they are a bad team.
Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
So right now, third and goal for the Seahawks, trailing
by a score of twenty one to sixteen. Quick passes
knockdown the Jets have defense they do Now, what do
you do here?
Speaker 3 (01:23:19):
Fourth and goal at the one yard line.
Speaker 2 (01:23:21):
You're down five, you still have five minutes to go
on the third quarter. You take the points or you're
risking on fourth down. I would I would QB sneaky here. Look,
I thought this was a good play.
Speaker 4 (01:23:32):
They ran a solo route to DK Metcalf. They were
trying to get him to Big Boy, his defensive back
who was playing them tight and man coverage. He was
not able to get the football got knocked away. So
good coverage there by the Jets.
Speaker 3 (01:23:47):
They're going for it.
Speaker 4 (01:23:48):
And by the way, Gino is not under center, he
is in the shotgun.
Speaker 2 (01:23:51):
He is gonna look left and he is scrambling and
herb sacked for a nineteen yard loss. Carol h out
of the shotgun, Why the shotgun? Terrible players just brought
everybody and swamped him. So on fourth and goal at
the one yard line, a nineteen yard sack.
Speaker 4 (01:24:09):
So this was supposed to be a move the pocket pass.
So he gets snapped the football he's supposed to be
ranging to his left. The Seahawks offensive line blocked absolutely nobody.
He had no chance to get the ball to his receivers,
tried to sprint backwards and like you said, lost almost
twenty yards on the play.
Speaker 3 (01:24:27):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (01:24:28):
All right, Falcons settle for a field goal, so they
cut the Chargers' lead seventeen to thirteen, just seconds left
in the third quarter in that game. Meanwhile, the Bengals,
trailing the Steelers twenty seven to twenty one eight and
a half minutes ago in the third have the ball
right now. Joe Burrow is only thirteen of sixteen for
(01:24:49):
one hundred and seven yards. I mean, just plays from
scrimmage or so one sided in favor of the Steelers
in this game. But somehow, some way, hey, thanks to
that pick six earlier in the game, the Bengals are
still in.
Speaker 3 (01:25:03):
This all right.
Speaker 4 (01:25:04):
We got have a touchdown reception Marvin Harrison Junior in
this Vikings game. Wow, cars are running away now, Cardinals
leading eighteen to six in Minnesota right now. Beautiful ball
from Kyler Murray thrud overcoverage the ensuing extra point risk.
Speaker 3 (01:25:19):
This is a Vikings defender. Good are starting to drop.
Speaker 12 (01:25:23):
Steven Gilmore left the game earlier question with a hamstring,
and now shortly after that, Harrison Smith also left the game.
Speaker 2 (01:25:30):
Okay again, I've been asking this question for several weeks.
Can Sam Darnold hold up nine to fourteen seventy nine
yards no touchdowns for the Vikings today? Thirty eight yards
on the ground. They have eighty seven total yards with
four and a half minutes to go. This is a
high power to attack with a lot of weapons, and
(01:25:51):
it is a no show today against the Arizona Cardinals
at home. Are the Vikings coming back.
Speaker 4 (01:25:58):
To earth the Viking. But at the same token, he
has been under dress all game long. He's been sacked
four games, four times so far in this game. So
when your QB has no time and by the way,
when your run game, I mean, we're almost all the
way through this one. It's four thirty seven left in
the third quarter. They have put up thirty eight yards
(01:26:19):
on the ground. Nothing, They have absolutely nothing. We have
gotten a touchdown here from Joe Mixon. Joe Mixon has
gotten into the end zone. So the Houston Texans now
take a thirteen to six lead against the Jaguars.
Speaker 3 (01:26:34):
If you miss it, Trevor Lawrence was knocked out.
Speaker 2 (01:26:37):
Of this game with a spear job that got well,
a big fight brawl ensued. Mac Jones has come in
to replace him, has not been able to ignite anything
with his Jaguars offense.
Speaker 3 (01:26:50):
Is Doug Peterson done after this year? It's possible. I
think it's highly likely.
Speaker 4 (01:26:55):
In fact, given how Shot Khan was discussing this the
prospects for this season, he.
Speaker 3 (01:27:01):
Said it was the best roster that he'd ever had.
Speaker 4 (01:27:03):
He thought he I mean, look, Shat Khan's been owner
in this league for a long time. He thought that
this was a really special group and they have really
underwhelmed even when Trevor Lawrence has been healthy.
Speaker 2 (01:27:13):
So is he looking for me for picking Jacksonville to
win this division? I means I could literally take the
best roster in history and wipe it out with one pick.
By the way, speaking of picks, I was listening to
you guys yesterday morning.
Speaker 3 (01:27:29):
Yeah, and none of you were willing to take Michigan. No, no,
we're all like you were all like Ohio State. I
mean they are playing for everything.
Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
Yeah, they're three touchdown favorites, but Michigan has zero offense.
Speaker 3 (01:27:40):
They've looked so bad this season, just awful. And Ohio
State you talk about awful, you talk about a coach
that's trouble the first time in day that they are
not gonna call it. I mean, you can't lose that game.
Speaker 4 (01:27:52):
You can't lose that game. That's four straight against Michigan now,
but it's one thing to lose to, you know, super
teams that Harborough had those last three years. Losing yesterday
at home. Oh, it's brutal, and it knocks him off
this huge pedestal. All of a sudden, it vaults Big
ten teams ahead of you, Penn State, namely, I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:28:10):
Big ten is going to I mean Indiana finished eleven
and one. You know, Ohio State goes ten and two.
The other neither's in the Big Ten Championship. Is the
Big Ten guaranteed four teams in the playoff?
Speaker 4 (01:28:23):
No, No, I could see Indiana being still left out
in the cold.
Speaker 3 (01:28:27):
Wow, I agree with you. I said this yesterday. I
think it'll be Ohio State, Oregon and Penn State. Can
we go back to this Ohio State loss?
Speaker 12 (01:28:33):
Though, Davis Warren nine of sixteen sixty two yards and
two interceptions and a quarterback that is worse than just
at least John.
Speaker 3 (01:28:41):
O'corn, that's the winning quarterback.
Speaker 12 (01:28:43):
Joan o'corn could at least run the football when he
played at about the one interception he threw to the
linebacker of Ohio Se.
Speaker 3 (01:28:51):
I like that was a law pass in the ends
A lot.
Speaker 4 (01:28:54):
I don't even know how to describe how bad that
game looked in all aspects. But but that's what happens
to teams that get a little too high on their
own supply. It felt like Ohio State thought who they were.
They did not show up with the same ferocity that
they did in other times.
Speaker 2 (01:29:12):
But that didn't figure because I mean I was watching
Ryan dab interview before the game, and he made it
infinitely clear.
Speaker 3 (01:29:18):
You got it.
Speaker 2 (01:29:19):
First of all, this is a rivalry game. Forget anything
that's happened going into this game. You know we're on
equal ground with Mission. I mean, he said all the
right things. Players got to talked about the preparation. We
have three things we're checking off. Number one is we
got to beat Michigan. If we beat Michigan, we're in
the Big Ten championship game.
Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
Win that.
Speaker 2 (01:29:36):
You win that, you put yourself in a good spot
for the playoff. You'd be the number one overall seed.
Speaker 3 (01:29:40):
You win that. And then they go out and play
like that. I mean, your players.
Speaker 12 (01:29:44):
On Michigan, it is one thing and it was just
run the ball and it works well. But they were
able to run the ball, and yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:29:50):
Your players have to buy the message, and they just bet.
You could say whatever you want in front of a room.
They got to buy the message.
Speaker 5 (01:29:57):
I mean not not only was a state bat on
the field yesterday, but day after the game watching everything unfold,
and that was happening in at midfield there. Yeah, he
looked like a deer in headlights. What he was just
standing there watching asking a player what happened? Like nothing
from him, He's.
Speaker 2 (01:30:10):
Just completely agree with Well, I mean, I think he
was shocked. He was shocked. But I mean, and by
the way, they're still investigating.
Speaker 3 (01:30:17):
That pepper spray situation.
Speaker 2 (01:30:18):
Yeah, yeah, well listen, by the way, members of the
media actually got some of that spray. That's forty I'll
tell you what if any of that got into my eye,
if I was just, you know, an innocent bystander on
the field, I'm sewing like crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:30:31):
Well, this is the reason why I say there should
not be court storming. There should not be field storming.
Goalposts coming back.
Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
How do you feel about planning your flag on the opposing.
Speaker 3 (01:30:41):
It's just not going to go in.
Speaker 4 (01:30:42):
Honestly, these players are professionals, now find them, find them, yeah,
hit them in the pocketbook.
Speaker 3 (01:30:48):
This is crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:30:49):
I don't understand how you let that unsafe of an
environment happen after a football game, it never happens in
the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:30:56):
Multiple multiple times.
Speaker 12 (01:30:57):
Yesterday there was a problem FORRTH Carolina, UT, NC.
Speaker 5 (01:31:01):
State, Florida State.
Speaker 3 (01:31:02):
Yeah, three different brawls all over flags. Trying to be dude,
I get it.
Speaker 4 (01:31:06):
Like if if you're if you're in the stands and
and you're a knucklehead you want to punch somebody in
the field, Like, okay, you know what, you should be
kicked out of the stadium.
Speaker 3 (01:31:15):
Security should handle you.
Speaker 4 (01:31:16):
But the fact that you have police presence, you have secure,
paid security, and you're allowing stuff like that to happen.
I mean, every single person should be arrested. I mean,
what do we win for somebody gets stabbed there having
their next Let I.
Speaker 2 (01:31:29):
Mean more serious, all right, The Vikings are rebounding. They
have gotten the ball inside the five yard line of Atlanta.
So the Cardinals lead this game nineteen to six inside
three minutes to go in the third quarter. Now inside
two minutes ago, but the Vikings have a first and
goal at the Arizona for yard line. We roll on
with all the NFL news that you demand we deliver.
Speaker 3 (01:31:54):
This is Red Zone Radio. Sam from Under center back
to pass. He gets away from Secon number five, rolls
up to the left, throws to the left, cut to Vikings.
It's Johnny Munch put the Vikings first touchdown today.
Speaker 2 (01:32:12):
That's k Fan right there, one hundred point three FM,
Vikings Radio Network cutting that Cardinals late in nineteen to thirteen.
Once again, this is Red Zone Radio Steve Hartman and
Rich Orenberger live from the Tirerack dot Com studios, and.
Speaker 3 (01:32:27):
Kirk Cousins just did it again.
Speaker 2 (01:32:30):
So the Falcons trailing the Chargers seventeen to thirteen, had
the ball at the thirteen yard line of the Chargers.
A penalty had moved him back, so it was third
and goal A to thirteen and.
Speaker 3 (01:32:45):
Kirk Cousins is being pressured.
Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
He moves up in the pocket and he literally throws
a lob pass.
Speaker 3 (01:32:53):
Into the middle of the end zone.
Speaker 2 (01:32:56):
Three Charger players there, and it's intercept for a touchback.
Speaker 3 (01:33:01):
I mean a lob pass.
Speaker 4 (01:33:04):
Yeah. They got down to the nine yard line, lost
yardage on a Robinson rush and then tried to throw
the football into the end zone twice and on the
second one he just.
Speaker 3 (01:33:15):
Lobbed it, I mean into the middle of the end zone.
Speaker 4 (01:33:18):
Kirk Cousins has now thrown arguably two of the ugliest
interceptions I've seen in a long time.
Speaker 3 (01:33:24):
That one was gross, the pick six was worse, and
the one earlier in the game.
Speaker 4 (01:33:30):
Look, here's the deal, Kirk Cousins. He'll give and he'll
take away. This has been the story of his career.
Speaker 2 (01:33:37):
Well, he's not giving much today. When Kirk is good
taking away, he can be really good. When Kirk is bad,
oh my goodness. And he's having a bad day against
a good defense. And it's a hard time for them
right now to get anything going offensively because he's been
in the way of a lot of their success. Well,
they just throw away a sure field goal by him
throwing that pass.
Speaker 4 (01:33:57):
Correct.
Speaker 5 (01:33:58):
The good news is that Kyler Murray's also in the
spirit of giving because he just threw up.
Speaker 3 (01:34:01):
A Wow, he's getting it right Back to the Vikings,
all right, So let me update on the scores right now.
Speaker 2 (01:34:08):
So the Chargers lead the Falcons seventeen to thirteen. The
Chargers offense has zero points in the second half. Their
only points came on a pick six. Steelers now lead
the Bengals thirty four to twenty four. Russell Wilson has
three hundred and sixty one yards passing and three touchdowns
end of the third quarter. There, So the Vikings now
they were down nineteen to six. Now it's nineteen thirteen.
Speaker 14 (01:34:29):
And they have the ball back start of the fourth quarter,
and they were facing a second and fourteen, and Sam
Darneld just threw a dart to Justin Jefferson for a long,
long reception.
Speaker 4 (01:34:42):
Here they're on their own twenty nine yard line. Look
at this pass. I mean a bullet over the middle,
or I should say over the right side, over the numbers,
and Justin Jefferson got them over the fifty yard line
into Arizona Cardinal Territory.
Speaker 2 (01:34:55):
That's the best pass we've seen from Darnald all day. Meanwhile,
the Patriots lead the Colts twenty four to seven. Team
Jets still leading the Seahawks twenty one to sixteen. But
the Seahawks right now started the fourth quarter, have a
first and ten at the Jets twenty yard line. Commanders
coasting twenty eight to thirteen over the Titans. That was
twenty eight nothing at one point. Texans actually trying to
add to their lead. They're leading thirteen to six on
(01:35:17):
the road. Against the Jags. They have a first intent
at the Jaguars sixteen yard line. So the Chargers in
this game again have not put up any points offensively
in the second half, but two horrific passes by Kirk
Cousins is the reason right now that the Chargers are
leading this game.
Speaker 4 (01:35:38):
Yeah, there's no doubt about it when you look at
the team stats. This has been a really ugly game
overall for both of these teams. The Chargers have only
had ten first downs on the game so far. They're
three to ten on third down. They're zero for one
on fourth downs, so they are not getting it done
with their offense. They've relied on their defense and I've
(01:35:58):
and similar for the Falcons, who are twenty five percent
on third down. There are two of three on fourth
so better there in terms of productivity and keeping drives alive.
But my goodness, and do we have another touchdown in
this Pittsburgh Steelers game? Did you aready?
Speaker 3 (01:36:13):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:36:13):
I have that?
Speaker 3 (01:36:14):
We got that one?
Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
Thirty four twenty four Steelers leave the Bengals with three
interceptions for Kirk Coussin today, two very ugly ones in
the second half. Right now, the Chargers have a second
and eighth. They're at their own thirty four yard line.
They can get any offense going. They have a chance
to put this game away, but they have just not
been able to do it.
Speaker 3 (01:36:31):
And Herbert just got sacked again.
Speaker 2 (01:36:33):
Wow. Wow, they just have nobody opened. The problem is
he has one receiver, McConkey.
Speaker 3 (01:36:38):
That's it. Well, I have one receiver.
Speaker 4 (01:36:40):
And he came up limping earlier in this game. I'm
not sure of what his status is if he returned
or not, but it looked like an apparent lower leg
injury to the right side.
Speaker 2 (01:36:52):
Do you see the influence of Jim Harbaugh on on
Justin Herbert. He will not throw the ball into coverage.
There's the reason why he had one interception, right. He
will not throw the ball in the coverage. If guys
are not open, he will eat it. And it has
worked for the Chargers this Year's why they have a
winning record. A lot of people thought the Chargers would
(01:37:13):
be in the playoff mix. Third and nine now for
the Chargers, Herbert looking for anybody complete but well shore
of the first down, so the Chargers will punt the
ball back to Atlanta. Meanwhile, Minnesota right now is at
the thirty yard line of the Cardinals. So the Vikings,
who really struggle throughout this game, all of a sudden,
Sam Darnold is finding the magic and they've gotten the
(01:37:36):
ball now well into Arizona territory.
Speaker 3 (01:37:39):
This is a big game for both of these teams,
especially the Cardinals.
Speaker 2 (01:37:42):
Right now, we mentioned the fact that all four NFC
West teams this week are on the road, and they're
only divided by a single game for teams. So you
have Seattle right now they are losing to the Jets,
Cardinals trying to hang on to the lead against the Viking.
Of course, later on we'll have the Rams on the
road against the Saints, forty nine ers on the road
(01:38:04):
against the Bills.
Speaker 4 (01:38:05):
And another big reception from Sam Donald. He finds Addison
on the sideline. Addison was in motion and the Cardinals
just lost him to that side of the fields. On
first and ten, he heaves it for another fifteen to
twenty yard game. They're now inside the fifteen of the Cardinals.
Sam Donald going for that Toime oh Man Gosh in
(01:38:28):
and out the arms of Aaron Jones in.
Speaker 2 (01:38:31):
So perfect pass by the way, I mean it would
have been a great catch, but that was a perfect.
Speaker 3 (01:38:34):
Beat Donald when he has time to throw the football's
looked really good in this.
Speaker 2 (01:38:38):
Well, this is what we've always said about Sam Donald.
He's one of those guys that can may look at
that pass. I mean it's right on the money. Aaron
Jones says, can't hang on. But he's one of those
risk reward guys because he'll make great plays and then
he turns the ball over. And that's been the story
of his career, going back to his USC days.
Speaker 3 (01:38:56):
By the way, very quickly here.
Speaker 2 (01:38:58):
The Texans have adam at a field goal and they
now lead the Jaguars sixteen to six, and the Commanders
have a first in goal to Tennessee ten yard line,
leading the Titans twenty eight, two thirteen.
Speaker 4 (01:39:10):
I give Darnold a lot of credit in this game
because he's been savaged. He got sacked five times so
far in this game, and he hasn't thrown a single pick.
And so you look, when you have that level of
concentration even though you're getting hit a lot in a game,
it's the whole reason why the Vikings are still in
this one looking to come back after the deficit nineteen thirteen.
(01:39:30):
They trail right now, but inside the fifteen yard line
of the Arizona Cardinals looking to score here.
Speaker 2 (01:39:35):
All right, Bengals, trying to get back in this game.
They're down ten thirty four to twenty four against the Steelers,
but they have the ball into Pittsburgh territory. Statistically, the
Steelers have dominated this game. A pick six early in
the game sort of kept the Bengals saying, look at
the left guard, what are you doing?
Speaker 8 (01:39:52):
Dude?
Speaker 4 (01:39:52):
Jumped offside us me false start, So the Bengals have
to walk it back first and fifteen here. Yeah, I mean, look,
these self inflicted enalties. These are the reasons why teams
will lose games. I mean, this is it.
Speaker 3 (01:40:06):
It's fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:40:07):
The concentration has to be the highest at this point.
You're trailing by ten. Late. You can't have that moment
because you'll knock yourself out of field goal range. Every
single point matters. It's just an awful situation for the Bengals,
who struggled this season defensively keeping pace with anybody.
Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
All right, Cardinals defense holes. The Vikings end up with
a field goal, so the Cardinals hang on to lead.
Now nineteen sixty and there is a tip pass interception
by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaker 4 (01:40:37):
Wow, awesome job in coverage. You have a ball batted
high into the air, a tall throw by Burrow uncharacteristically
inaccurate pass. That ball goes sky high and one of
the Steelers defenders able to come up with it. It looked
like it might have gotten tip. Maybe it was Cam
Hayward got a hand on it. Hang on, No, no, no,
(01:41:00):
it got tipped at the line of scrimmage. It was
Cam Hayward. Oh, I didn't see that, and so he
was looking for Chase. Chase had a leap for it.
After Hayward tipped it and one of the Steelers defensive
backs came down with it.
Speaker 5 (01:41:12):
Higgins still could have caught that. Yeah, he got tipped
the line and then team.
Speaker 2 (01:41:17):
He was sort of leaning one way and the ball
got tippy out a reas the other way.
Speaker 5 (01:41:20):
Burrow's the third person I would blame on that.
Speaker 4 (01:41:22):
Oh no, no, no, I wouldn't blame Burrow at all. That
offensive lineman, the same one who just had the false start.
You need to get as soon as a pass rusher
stops his rush, you need to throw your body at
his gut, keep his hands down. What do you do
if somebody lunges at your midsection, you put your hands down.
Speaker 3 (01:41:40):
And so that's what I was taught as offensive lineman.
Speaker 4 (01:41:43):
That's exactly what you need to do against Hayward in
that situation.
Speaker 2 (01:41:46):
Seahawks at a field goal, so they have narrowed the
Jets lead to twenty one to nineteen. Let's find out
what is trending right now, and Monci, I get a
sense we got a lot of games that are gonna
go out of the wire here.
Speaker 7 (01:42:01):
It really does seem that way. But this Seahawks Jets.
Speaker 8 (01:42:04):
Game is the most drunk again still like everything happening.
If you look at their plays, Seattle was literally half
a yard away from getting in the end zone. Then
Gino Smith got sacked at a loss for sixteen yards.
The next play for New York was a fumble. Then
the Seahawks get the ball again and they just hit
the field goal. Come and that's just one small sequence
(01:42:25):
from this entire game. But the Jets are up right
now twenty nineteen. And tell me, Steve, didn't you pick
the under in this game?
Speaker 4 (01:42:33):
I did?
Speaker 7 (01:42:34):
Yeah, Okay, just wanted to make it.
Speaker 3 (01:42:35):
That was yeah, this just wanted it.
Speaker 7 (01:42:37):
I just wanted to make sure, thank you. Yeah, you
know finding that out because I would help.
Speaker 3 (01:42:41):
I'm only I only have a five point.
Speaker 2 (01:42:42):
She made up a couple of points on me, of course,
Manchi trying to become avoid becoming the first person ever
to lose to me in picking games.
Speaker 8 (01:42:50):
But we're not just picking straight up games. There's other levels.
Speaker 3 (01:42:53):
By the way, I ticking games on the radio for
over thirty years.
Speaker 8 (01:42:57):
That's if you pick over under and you you lose points.
Speaker 7 (01:43:01):
There's also bold prediction. It's not just straight up picks.
Speaker 3 (01:43:04):
I'm sure, bos sure, sure, very good.
Speaker 7 (01:43:07):
Rich, Sure you're gonna get one Breedo next week.
Speaker 3 (01:43:10):
Two.
Speaker 7 (01:43:10):
I'm right, Chargers, You're right, the Chargers might.
Speaker 8 (01:43:13):
Chargers offensively have not looked great, but the Falcons are
also struggling. So LA is still on top seventeen thirteen
with about five minutes to go in the game. Kirk
Cousins three interceptions in the game so far. Steelers looking
pretty good against the Bengals. Thirty four to twenty four
is the score, with Pittsburgh on top early in the
fourth quarter. Russell Wilson twenty six of thirty two, three
(01:43:34):
hundred and sixty one yards and three.
Speaker 7 (01:43:36):
Touchdowns so far in this one.
Speaker 8 (01:43:37):
The Cardinals are beating the Vikings in Minnesota, still nineteen
sixteen early in the fourth.
Speaker 7 (01:43:42):
The Patriots have added some more points.
Speaker 8 (01:43:44):
They're beating the Colts twenty four to seventeen with about
eight minutes to go. Drake May for New England twenty
two to twenty seven, two hundred and eighteen yards on
a touchdown. They as back to the Seahawks Jets game
New York on top, twenty one to nineteen early in
the fourth Washington, Oh. I was gonna say they haven't
scored since the first half. No, they just had another
touchdown pass Jaden Daniels to Zach Ertz. So that's Jayden
(01:44:05):
daniels third touchdown pass of the game. He's twenty two
to twenty six for one hundred and eighty yards, and
the Commanders are just all over the Tians. Thirty four
to thirteen is a score early in the fourth, thirty five.
Speaker 7 (01:44:15):
The extra point was good.
Speaker 8 (01:44:16):
The Texans are beating the Jaguar sixteen to six after
three quarters and still to come.
Speaker 7 (01:44:20):
We had the Eagles and the Ravens.
Speaker 8 (01:44:22):
No Devonte Smith officially for Philadelphia.
Speaker 7 (01:44:26):
He was out there. There's videos of him.
Speaker 8 (01:44:27):
It looked like he was trying to play, but they
are ruling him out with that hamstring injury that he
has been dealing with. Former Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams
assigning with the Lions practice god with the idea that.
Speaker 7 (01:44:37):
He's going to be elevated to their main roster.
Speaker 8 (01:44:39):
And Purdue has fired head coach Ryan Walters after two seasons.
Two seasons he went five to nineteen in those two years,
and one and eleven this year.
Speaker 7 (01:44:48):
No one, No back to you guys.
Speaker 3 (01:44:50):
Yeah, one eleven is not a way to secure a job.
Speaker 7 (01:44:52):
No, not at all, not at all.
Speaker 2 (01:44:55):
All, right, Montzi, thank you. We'll check in with you
later here on Red Zone Radio. Just numbers from that
big bounce back game for the Commanders today. It looks
like they're well in their way to snapping that three
game losing streak. Jayden Daniels twenty two at twenty six
hundred and eighty yards, three touchdowns, He did throw one interception.
Brian Robinson Junior sixteen carries one hundred and three yards
in a score. Terry McLaurin seven catches fifty seven yards
(01:45:18):
and two scores. The latest touchdown Zach Ertz on the
receiving end. So nice bounce back game for the Commander's
rich you know. After the Cowboys finally got their first
home win of the season, narrowly defeating the you know,
the powerful New York Giants, Jerry Jones made a couple
of things clear. A there's still very much in the
playoff picture, that's his words. And also he has not
(01:45:42):
discounted the possibility that he may not extend the contract
of Mike McCarthy. So do you believe the Cowboys are
still in the playoff chase at five and seven? And
do you believe Mike McCarthy will be the Cowboys coach
in twenty twenty five?
Speaker 10 (01:45:56):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:45:57):
And no, I don't think they're in the playoff chase.
And I think the biggest reason is because Jerry Jones
didn't make a decision on Mike McCarthy, and that was
the death knell for the season. I don't understand how
if you're not planning on extending a football coach, how
you don't fire him. I just don't get it. What
is the point? I mean, what was the expectation Mike
(01:46:18):
McCarthy to have complete control of this roster, for the
team to have respect for him. We've talked about this
a bunch of season. So I'm not going to dwell
on the point. But when you don't put your faith
behind a head coach, your locker room will not put
their faith behind a head coach. Everybody saw the writing
on the wall in that locker room. Mike McCarthy's on
his way out. And then as soon as this season
(01:46:39):
started to take a turn and the Dallas Cowboys were
kind of stinking it out there, it was over. And
by the way, Dak Prescott before he got hurt, it
felt like the season was heading in that direction and
that just cemented it. By the way, the commanders in
that division who are surging today against the Titans, you
also have to consider who they're playing, because yes, it's
(01:47:00):
looking way better than it has over the past couple
of weeks. Now, but this is the Titans' first four
possessions punt, punt, fumble, fumble, punt, I'll give you the
fifth one. In between each of those possessions, the Washington
Commanders scored touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (01:47:16):
Well, let's also remember the Commander's got a gift win
against the Bears again.
Speaker 3 (01:47:21):
Yeah, I mean an absolute gift against the Bears.
Speaker 4 (01:47:23):
That hell, Mary.
Speaker 3 (01:47:24):
Yeah, So now, we're watching.
Speaker 2 (01:47:26):
We got the two minute warning in the Chargers Falcons game.
The Falcons are sitting with a fourth and three at
their own forty yard line, so as soon as they
get back out on the field, will update you there.
It's been a horrific game for Kirk Cousins. He's thrown
three interceptions, no touchdowns in this game. The Chargers have
scored zero points offensively in the second half, but a
(01:47:49):
pick six has been the difference. So Chargers lead the
Falcons seventeen to thirteen. They're coming out of the two
minute warning right now. Fourth and three for the Falcons
from their own forty yard line, So this is it
for Atlanta and let's see how this one is gonna go.
Kirk Cousins needs to make a play. Drake London has
(01:48:10):
been sort of his receiver when he needs something, and
Kirk Cousins throws the ball short of the first down.
No first down, game over flag on the play. Now
there's a flag on the play.
Speaker 4 (01:48:20):
This might be defensive holding against the Chargers because that
flag came in from the defensive secondary.
Speaker 2 (01:48:27):
So he was looking down the field, ran out of
time through an underneath pass tackle well short and it
is a defensive holding automatic first down for the Falcons.
Speaker 3 (01:48:38):
That is a crusher for the Chargers there.
Speaker 5 (01:48:40):
Wow, is there any surprise that Kirk Cousins threw the
ball short of the sticks?
Speaker 4 (01:48:44):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:48:45):
No, no, I mean it was just I know they
got it.
Speaker 4 (01:48:49):
But he has plays that was awfull game bow. I
mean when I say awful Kirk Cousins again, I'm a
Kirk Cousins fan.
Speaker 3 (01:48:57):
I think he's a pretty good player.
Speaker 4 (01:48:59):
But when he gives a game away, man, does he
try his hardest to give a game away? And if
it wasn't for the Chargers holding on that play, that
would have been a disaster again for the Falcons, who
just got another first down.
Speaker 2 (01:49:10):
Yeah, so they're at midfield right now. Again, they're down four,
so they need a touchdown. It is one forty one.
The clock is running. Atlanta has all three of their timeouts.
Chargers do as well, but they're gonna let the clock run.
Now one thirty four, one thirty three, they are at
the forty four yard line of the Chargers and there's
an outpass for two yards. Clock is still run. There
(01:49:31):
are they gonna call a timeout? No, they continue to
let the clock run. Let me get this straight. You
are still over forty yards away from the end zone
and you're letting, I don't know, forty seconds off the clock.
Speaker 4 (01:49:42):
I think they're preserving the timeouts until they get closer
to the end zone.
Speaker 3 (01:49:46):
I don't hate the plan. All right, Well, this time
they got out of bounds.
Speaker 4 (01:49:50):
London, Drake London with another grab on this drive, gets
the first down and rolls out of bounds. So that'll
stop the clock at one oh six at the.
Speaker 3 (01:49:59):
Thirty three yards line of the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (01:50:01):
Now, all right, so they stopped the clock one oh
six to go, thirty three yard line of the Chargers.
You know some short passes here. Drake London, by the way,
as a player, oh he's he can play. We saw
him at USC and he is a player.
Speaker 3 (01:50:12):
Waiting and waiting for a decent quarterback. Exactly.
Speaker 4 (01:50:15):
That's exactly what Kirk Cousins is, even though he it
seems he wants the Chargers to win today. We're not
sure why we'll get We'll try to get the scoop
post game.
Speaker 2 (01:50:23):
From all right, So now we got once again, he
gets sacked, he fumbled. There's a sack fumble? What is
that a sack or a fumble. Either way, Atlanta did recover.
It was a fumble.
Speaker 4 (01:50:34):
Okay. Now, if this is a sack fumble, this is
costly because they just lost about eight yards. If it's
an incomplete pass, which it doesn't look like it's going
to be in it, that is a fumble.
Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
That's a fumble. Well wait, I don't know, as he
was going down through the ball. That'll be fun because
it was.
Speaker 2 (01:50:49):
Atlanta did cover the fumble, so it's it's still Falcons ball.
Speaker 3 (01:50:52):
Yeah, but they lose all those yards.
Speaker 4 (01:50:54):
Gosh, Kirk Cousins, like I said, for whatever reason, we
think he actually needs the.
Speaker 3 (01:50:59):
Chargers to win today.
Speaker 4 (01:50:59):
We're not sure why, but he is trying his hardest
to give this game away.
Speaker 2 (01:51:03):
Well again, if the Falcons lose this game, that would
be three straight losses, dropping them all the way to
six and six. And the Buccaneers have a very winnable
game this afternoon on the road against Carolina. If they
were to win that game, they would also be six
and six. So names are not looking good for Atlanta
right now. Falcons took a time out there, so we'll see.
Speaker 3 (01:51:24):
How is an eleven yard loss?
Speaker 2 (01:51:26):
So second and twenty one right now at the Chargers
forty four yard line. We'll just keep it here for
a little bit. There is a time out by Atlanta
on the play. Fifty six seconds to go in the
fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (01:51:38):
We also have a nineteen sixteen ballgame, Cardinals leading in
Minnesota right now, and.
Speaker 2 (01:51:43):
The Cardinals have a second and three at the Minnesota
fourteen yard line.
Speaker 4 (01:51:47):
Looks like James Connor just left the field. He's nursing
a hand injury. Yeah, and he's a messing with that
finger right now in the.
Speaker 3 (01:51:54):
Four and a half minutes to go.
Speaker 2 (01:51:55):
Right now in the fourth quarter, Kyler Murray brings his
team to the field, so a second and three at
the fourteen yard line of the Vikings. He throws a
nice pass out of bounds at about the six, so
the Cardinals will have a first down there.
Speaker 4 (01:52:11):
Ride on the reception, nice little out route to the sideline,
so they're gonna have a close shot with a fresh
set of downs inside the ten yard line. Looks like
he was driven out at the six out.
Speaker 2 (01:52:22):
Of the corner of my Keep an eye on the Seahawks.
They have a fourth and one at their own thirty
eight yard line. Still nine and a half minutes to
go in this game as they trail the Jets by
a score of twenty one to nineteen. Bengals have the
ball back. Plenty of time left in this game, eleven
minutes plus. Bengals trail by ten thirty four to twenty four,
(01:52:42):
and they have a third and eight their own twenty nine.
Speaker 3 (01:52:44):
All right, the Cardinals right now, first in goal.
Speaker 2 (01:52:46):
Kyler Murray throws the end zone and there's a there
was a penalty on the clock.
Speaker 4 (01:52:51):
It was offside. Vikings had a player in the backfield
before that ball was snapped, basically, so Murray just tossed
it away and so that looks like that's going to
go against the Vikings, negating the.
Speaker 2 (01:53:03):
Po No, they called the illegal procedure against the Cardinals.
Speaker 3 (01:53:06):
Well then it's a dead play, so it's gonna be
second and No, it's first and goal again. But they
move it back five.
Speaker 4 (01:53:12):
Yards there you go, Yeah, repeat it, first down.
Speaker 2 (01:53:14):
All right, So we're waiting on This is the longest
timeout in the history of the NFL, this time on
this Chargers Falcons game.
Speaker 3 (01:53:21):
How long are timeouts? I mean thirty minutes?
Speaker 2 (01:53:24):
And they ran four commercials here. Now we finally get
back to the game. They had actually snapped the ball
and they were still in a commercial. So now that
was now we got third in the whosh. I don't know,
we got third and fifteen.
Speaker 3 (01:53:39):
Maybe yeah, it was a second and twenty one play.
Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
Kirk Middle he completed a pass for nine yards third
and twelve. They had to use a second timeout, so
fifty two seconds left. Meanwhile, the Cardinals have Kyler Murray
scrambling throwing the ball away.
Speaker 4 (01:53:55):
Did the Falcons just called two timeouts and consecutively.
Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
Well, they called the timeout, they ran a play they
ran It was a nine yard after the penalty.
Speaker 3 (01:54:05):
Now he can't call two no. Meanwhile, meanwhile, Kyler Murray
just called call for intentional grounding. Look at this. He
didn't get out of the pocket.
Speaker 2 (01:54:14):
Oh boy, he didn't come close and he just threw
it out abouts to nobody. So an intentional grounding. That's
loss of down and yards. They had a first thing
going four, they're going backwards. Kirk Cousins is looking for anything,
and he completes a pass.
Speaker 4 (01:54:28):
Why breake London again down the sideline in first ripple
temveradge He's able to come up with the football. So
they turned second and twenty one after the time out
into a first and ten inside of the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (01:54:44):
So he dropped the ball. Oh my gosh, he dropped
the ball. It was knocked away out of his hands.
Speaker 4 (01:54:53):
Some grab credit to the Chargers for getting their hand
in on that play.
Speaker 2 (01:54:58):
Right, So the game on the line now fourth twelve
for the Falcons. There's forty seven seconds left. Chargers lead
this game seventeen to thirteen, and the Falcons.
Speaker 3 (01:55:09):
Need a big play. That pass was right there, triple
coverage Drake London was not able to.
Speaker 2 (01:55:15):
Hang on and Atlanta is going to use their final
time out to get ready for this play.
Speaker 3 (01:55:21):
Fourth and twelve. Here's the problem again.
Speaker 2 (01:55:23):
If they complete anything over the middle of the field,
they have no way of stopping the clock.
Speaker 3 (01:55:27):
And they're trailing by four.
Speaker 4 (01:55:28):
So they got to finish this drive in the end
zone to have a shot at winning this game. Meanwhile,
the Cardinals are edging closer and closer to the end zone,
facing a fourth and goal. They have the lead, so
I'm guessing they're going to settle for the field goal
year all right, So.
Speaker 2 (01:55:42):
Yeah, Cardinals, third and goal, they're going to go for
the field goal that would give.
Speaker 3 (01:55:46):
Them a six point lead.
Speaker 2 (01:55:48):
Still plenty of time for the Vikings to come back
to win this game. By the way, Atlanta missed a
field goal short field goal.
Speaker 3 (01:55:54):
Earlier in this game that they would love to have back.
Speaker 2 (01:55:57):
Plus so they had the interception in the end zone
when they were in field goal position. They like to
have that one back. So there's a lot of ways
the Falcons could have won this game. But here we
go fourth and twelve and Kirk Cousins looking over the
middle and it's picked off by the Chargers.
Speaker 4 (01:56:12):
That fourth game interception of the game, his fourth interception
of the game. Kirk Cousins sealed the win for the Chargers.
He has played arguably one of the worst games this
season outside of Jared Goff a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 5 (01:56:26):
Do you go to Michael Pennix Junior next week?
Speaker 2 (01:56:27):
Well, at some point they want to look at him.
He's that's three straight losses for the Falcons and six.
Chargers are going to move to eight and four. Who thought?
Jim Harvell? What a job he has done this year
with the Chargers. We roll on much more coming up.
This is Red Zone Radio all right. Once again Red
Zone Radio Live from the Tyraq dot Com studios.
Speaker 3 (01:56:47):
All kinds of things are happening right now.
Speaker 2 (01:56:48):
The Seahawks have just scored to finally take the lead
twenty five to twenty one.
Speaker 3 (01:56:54):
Over the Jets.
Speaker 2 (01:56:55):
There was a little bit of a controversial play what
could have been role the fumble was ruled an incomplete
pass by Geno Smith. It was one of those where
the ball was not knocked out of his hands.
Speaker 3 (01:57:07):
He just put his.
Speaker 2 (01:57:08):
Arm forward try to hold the ball and it flew
out of his hands, so technically it was not considered
a fumble and it was considered an incomplete pass. And
then Zach Sharbinet, the former UCLA Brewin, gets into the
end zone. There was a penalty on the play. It
was a personal foul call against the Seahawks and unsportsmanlike
(01:57:31):
against the Jets. So some kind of fisticus that'll be offsetting,
I would imagine here the Seahawks will go for two.
Speaker 12 (01:57:39):
There's been a lot of internet chatter about offsetting penalties
on how stuff like we'll get these brawls or someone
like Al Shayer's spearing guy earlier, but there's an illegal
touching there and somehow all these penalties are offsetting.
Speaker 3 (01:57:53):
Meanwhile, the Vikings are on the roll.
Speaker 2 (01:57:55):
They got a first down at the Arizona twenty one
yard line. We just got to the two men a warning,
So the Cardinals were had nineteen to six at one
point of this game. Hang on, they had to settle
for a field goal twenty two to sixteen.
Speaker 4 (01:58:09):
Oh, we just had a timeout called and it looked
like the Colts just burned their last one there. With
the play clock winding down, they have an opportunity at
the two yard line of the Patriots to win this
game facing a fourth and goal or right, excuse me,
to tie this game this game if they if they
score seven, they tie. If they go for the two
(01:58:31):
point conversion, they can win it. Seventeen seconds left in
the game, trailing by seven.
Speaker 2 (01:58:36):
All right, the Bengals just scored on a touchdown pass
Joe Burrow to t Higgins. It's forty one thirty one.
There's still eight and a half minutes to go in
that game. I mean a lot of time left in
that game. So that game far from over. But right
now we're just waiting on the Seahawks decision.
Speaker 4 (01:58:54):
Okay, here we go, Colts back at the line of
scrimmage again, fourth and goal from the Patriots.
Speaker 3 (01:58:58):
And Anthony Richard, just make up play here. We are
bound tough from now. We got another time out. We're
just the time out after timeout right now. They don't
want us to get this play. We're running up against
o'clock here, all right. A couple other games that are
out of reach. Texans leading the Jaguars twenty three six,
eight minutes to go.
Speaker 2 (01:59:17):
They are also eight minutes to go. Commanders lead the
Titans thirty five to thirteen, although the Titans are threatening
right now, so we're waiting on this Seahawks Jets again.
There's plenty of time left for the Jets in this
game five and a half minutes ago in the fourth quarter.
Just amazing. The clock is all over the place of
these games. We already have one game in the books
as the Chargers defeated Atlanta seventeen to thirteen. So we
(01:59:41):
got the Vikings right now, two minute warning trailing twenty
two to sixteen of the Cardinals.
Speaker 4 (01:59:46):
So fourth and goal. Anthony Richardson with the football. He
heaves it to the end zone and that's good for
six points. Finds a receiver, so that is going to
be a tie ball game. If the extra point goes through,
we'll be right back is Zoe radio ball is at
the three yard line on a two point conversion attempt.
Speaker 3 (02:00:05):
Anthony Richardson out of the gun, chopping Taylor.
Speaker 6 (02:00:07):
Is his back left shot and scatted for Richardson and
he's trying to crash up failed.
Speaker 4 (02:00:12):
He got it here his.
Speaker 3 (02:00:17):
Conversion. God, shoot pints for the Colts in a pint possession.
Speaker 14 (02:00:22):
Give it to your best player on offense, and he
delivers Cooks back on top.
Speaker 3 (02:00:27):
Twenty five twenty four, twelve sticks to go. That is
Colts Radio Network.
Speaker 2 (02:00:34):
You would have thought the game was one hundred percent over,
but the Patriots just attempted a sixty three yard field goal.
It was straight down the middle, but just short, and
the Colts hang on to win.
Speaker 4 (02:00:49):
Twenty five twenty crazy finish to that game. Anthony Richardson
getting the job done on the final drive, drove the field,
was able to find a receiver in the end zone
for the short pass and the score, and then rushed
it in himself on the two point conversion. And that
is over, just through an interception, trailing by one point.
Speaker 3 (02:01:12):
Oh, and you're not gonna believe what's going on here.
You've told me this was out of reach for them. Okay,
so the Atlanta excuse me, this is out.
Speaker 2 (02:01:20):
The Arizona Cardinal had a nineteen to six lead in
this game and they are going to lose to the
Vikings twenty three to twenty two.
Speaker 3 (02:01:28):
Look at Monci, she picked, She picked Minnesota. I picked
Arizona in that game, by the way, I also picked
the Jets. Jets are also trailing. Okay, all right, but
there's two minutes to go in that game, all right,
So just an update on what's happening right now. So again,
Arizona will lose this game.
Speaker 2 (02:01:47):
That means the Vikings are gonna move to ten and
two on the season. They will run out the clock
and win this game twenty three to twenty two. Steelers,
by the way, trying to put away the Bengals have
a first in goal to Bengals four yard line, leading
by ten forty one to thirty one inside five minutes ago.
The Jets are trailing the Seahawks twenty six to twenty one.
(02:02:08):
They have a third and two at the Seattle thirty
three yard lines. So the Jets trying to make something
happen here and come back to beat the Seahawks. That's
a huge comeback by the way for the Vikings after
struggling for much of the game, Saan Darnold made plays.
Look at the Steelers just shoving an entire offensive wide
into the end zone.
Speaker 4 (02:02:29):
Nase Harris. Did they whistle it dead or did they
let him get in for the score? So it was
a first in goal play inside the Bengals five yard line.
Naji Harris plunges. They're not giving it to him into
the middle of the offensive formation. Watch this effort though,
to push him and push him and get him in.
Now did his forward progress stop? They're saying, I don't
(02:02:51):
know his feet were still moving. I mean, I mean
I did not see his feet move. Well, let me
stop for half a second. They did not give it
to him. Second goal for the Steelers right now.
Speaker 2 (02:03:01):
Meanwhile, in this game, Russell Wilson has four hundred and
fourteen yards passing. When's the last time he had a
Steeler quarterback over four hundred yards passing? Ben Roethlisberg back
in his heyday, Long time ago, long time ago. So again,
we got inside five minutes ago. Why is this game
so long? I mean, it's crazy how long this game is.
But inside five minutes to go, Steelers lead by ten
(02:03:23):
forty one to thirty one, trying to add to that
as another running play goes nowhere.
Speaker 4 (02:03:28):
Yeah, the second goal, Justin Fields came in for their
goal line offense. It looked like they were trying to
get something going using him as a running threat down
low in the low red zone.
Speaker 3 (02:03:38):
So third and goal.
Speaker 4 (02:03:39):
Steelers got absolutely nothing done on that play. Still leading
by ten points here and milking some clock while they're
continuing to strategize here.
Speaker 2 (02:03:49):
Well, we had three games in the books that all
went down to the wire Chargers over the Falcons seventeen
to thirteen, Colts over the Pats twenty five to twenty four,
Vikings beat the Cardinals twenty three to two. Those ones
are in the books. By the way, the Commander's just
got another touchdown. They're blowing out the Titans forty one
and nineteen, waiting on the extra point there. So third
and goal right now for the Steelers, trying to put
(02:04:11):
this game away. Russell Wilson scrambling going nowhere, so they
will add a field goal here to go up by
thirteen will be the play. Meanwhile, the Jets have gotten
to the two minute warning and they got a first
and ten at the Seattle twenty nine yard line. So
the Jets are down five. This is our focus right now.
Can the Jets pull out this game? Does Aaron Rodgers
(02:04:33):
have any magic left? Throws a ball incomplete over the
middle of the field. He has been under duress, to
say the least, throughout this game.
Speaker 3 (02:04:40):
Yeah, he's been hit a bunch. He's only been.
Speaker 2 (02:04:43):
Sacked once, but he's been under a lot of pressure.
Twenty to thirty seven and eighty five yards, has a
couple of touchdown passes.
Speaker 3 (02:04:51):
But this is where you.
Speaker 2 (02:04:53):
Need to find DeVante Adams right, isn't this DeVante Adams time?
Speaker 3 (02:04:57):
This certainly was back in their heyday with the Pack.
Speaker 4 (02:05:00):
There's no question about it, and that really they haven't
gotten on the same page since he's joined the Jets.
Speaker 3 (02:05:05):
Second and ten here for the Jets.
Speaker 2 (02:05:07):
He does have five catches for sixty six yards and
a score in this game, So a little more production
out of Devonti Adams. But if you go back to
their day and in Green Bay, this was it. Little
screen pass goes absolutely nowhere to Breeze Hall.
Speaker 3 (02:05:20):
It was a great job by the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 4 (02:05:22):
They sniffed that out and they were aiming to get
something going just over the alley, and I think that
was Braylen Allen who was trying to get out and
just could not. Man coverage came up made a sure
hit there or no, who was that's David? Is that?
Speaker 3 (02:05:39):
Oh? Yeah, Davis, that's Davis.
Speaker 4 (02:05:41):
And so the Jets are facing third and ten from
the Seahawks twenty nine yard line.
Speaker 2 (02:05:46):
Vintage Aaron Rodgers right now, it's vintage Jets. Aaron Rodgers
just got sacked. Unbelievable. So now they're going to have
fourth in a mile here, So a sack as he
couldn't even get rid of the balls, and the Jets
are down to their last breath.
Speaker 3 (02:06:03):
He are on fourth and sixteen. They had a third
and twenty five situation they were able to hit us.
I mean, this was this is how the whole season
is gone.
Speaker 11 (02:06:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:06:13):
Leonard Williams just absolutely ran over.
Speaker 4 (02:06:15):
He's wrecking this game. By the way, He's already had
an interception for a touchdown, a ninety two yard picks.
Speaker 3 (02:06:22):
I don't know who that guard is left guard. He
just got literally run over. Not Lyndon Williams. All right,
here we go. This is it for the Jets.
Speaker 2 (02:06:29):
Fourth and fifteen, right now at the thirty four yard
line of the Seahawks, and the ball goes up for
grabs and it's just nothing.
Speaker 4 (02:06:38):
Yeah, it was an uncatchable pass and he goes down.
Aaron Rodgers got hit for the sixth time in the game.
Speaker 2 (02:06:44):
So the Jets, who at one point were up twenty
one to seven in this game, driving after the fumble,
remember the fumbled kickoff, yep, and then the tip pass
interception returned for a touchdown and the Jets never scored again. Well,
it's what we said earlier, Steve. Bad teams find a
way to lose. The Jets are a bad team this year.
(02:07:06):
Their leaderless, their rudderless, their quarterback has not played like
the four time MVP he was promised to look like
when he signed with the Jets in trade. And it
has been a disaster of a season for them. And
so it just continues on here as the Seahawks take
a knee, and that'll wind out the rest of the clock.
Speaker 3 (02:07:24):
Three and nine for the Jets. Wow.
Speaker 4 (02:07:27):
Wow, Okay, I saw it going very differently. I told
you I thought the Jets would be a ten win team.
I thought they would sneak into the postseason.
Speaker 2 (02:07:35):
I know, by the way, we had many people and
it just I don't know why everyone was so convinced
that soon to be forty one year old Aaron Rodgers,
coming off of miseason with a blown achilles was going
to come back and be the Aaron Rodgers of old.
I don't I don't know why anybody thought. I certainly
didn't think.
Speaker 4 (02:07:53):
Well, it's because of look, I mean, I know you didn't,
but there's there's do.
Speaker 3 (02:07:57):
You remember his last year in Green Bay.
Speaker 4 (02:07:59):
Yeah, but there are special talents who time and time
again shock us.
Speaker 3 (02:08:04):
I remember when not Tom Brady. There's only one Tom Brady, and.
Speaker 4 (02:08:08):
You doubted him too. I remember when Tom Brady went
to Tampa Bay. We had the same conversation.
Speaker 2 (02:08:12):
Tom Brady proved me wrong, and then he proved us
wrong all the way to the end.
Speaker 4 (02:08:16):
I remember when when Tiger Woods came back. You said
he'll never win another tournament. I said, he'll win another Masters,
and guess what he did. We've been working together for
a long time.
Speaker 3 (02:08:26):
Bady.
Speaker 2 (02:08:26):
You've made some bad calls, but this was one of
my good calls. By the way, you know, the game
that's not over yet, believe it or not. Mac Jones
just threw a touchdown pass and the Jaguars are now
down twenty three to eighteen. Boy to the Texans, and
there's still three and a half minutes to go in
that game.
Speaker 4 (02:08:44):
This is unbelievable. We need to get that one.
Speaker 2 (02:08:46):
That is a game the Texans cannot lose. So twenty
three to twenty Texans lead the Jaguars as they went
for a two point conversion and got it.
Speaker 4 (02:08:57):
By the way, is mac Jones in this game after
Trevor went down, Wes.
Speaker 3 (02:09:01):
He's been in all since that knockout blow. We've left
this game for dead after that injury.
Speaker 2 (02:09:08):
So they got the touchdown and the two point conversion.
So three and a half minutes to go, and the
Jaguars trailed the Texans by a score of twenty three
to twenty. So suddenly that game is on the board.
The Bengals are not done yet either.
Speaker 3 (02:09:23):
Forty four thirty one.
Speaker 2 (02:09:25):
And look where the Bengals are right now, Rich They're
at the first and goal at the three yard line, and.
Speaker 3 (02:09:31):
Joe Burrow throws the ball that should have been picked.
Speaker 4 (02:09:34):
That should have been a pick six. Goodness gracious in
and out of the hands of a steeling right. Here's
what happened to set this up.
Speaker 3 (02:09:41):
There was a fifty yard pass to Jamar Chase that'd
set it up at the two yard line. So Joe,
by the way, chasing this game six catches, eighty seven
yards in a score Joe Burrow twenty seven to thirty
six to three and seventy yards and two touchdowns. But
a big pass play set this up for a first
and goal. Well, Pittsburgh Lee's forty four to thirty one.
(02:10:03):
There's still just about three minutes to go in this game.
So if the Bengals can get a quick score here,
they got a chance.
Speaker 2 (02:10:12):
And right now the Bengals looking to do something end
zone touchdown. Wow, there's a flag thrown on the play.
Speaker 4 (02:10:19):
I bet you that's going to be on the Steelers.
That look like Joey Porter Junior got his fifth penalty
of the game. That'll be a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (02:10:28):
Bengals defensive holding against the Steelers is refused, So the
Bengals get the touchdown and they are an extra point
away from making this a six point game two forty
three to go in the fourth quarter. The problem for
the Bengals right now, Rich you do have the two
minute warning, but you have clock, no timeouts.
Speaker 4 (02:10:49):
Yeah, the clock is not your friend in this game.
The Bengals, I mean, look again, if it weren't for
their defense, this team would be a top team in
this division. But they just have They can't stop anybody.
The Steelers, they're making them look like my goodness, the
two thousand and seven Patriots. I mean, it's unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (02:11:09):
One hundred and fourteen yards passing for Russell Wilson extra
points good So forty four to thirty eight, Pittsburgh leading
two thirty nine to go on the fourth quarter, the
exciting finish and other games kicking off right now.
Speaker 3 (02:11:21):
This is red Zone Radio.
Speaker 6 (02:11:23):
Joe catches the shotgun staff he's back to throw, gets
rid of it before the rush arrives, and he completes
it to t Higgs in the middle of the end
zone for the Bengals touchdown. He beat Cam Sutton. Great
job by Burrow to throw the ball just as the
pass rush was about to arrive, and Joe has his
second touchdown.
Speaker 3 (02:11:42):
Pass of the game.
Speaker 2 (02:11:44):
Got seven hundred WLW Bengals Radio Network. The reason they're
not feeling more excited is that he got the Bengals
within six.
Speaker 3 (02:11:52):
The problem is they had no timeouts. They had an
on sidekick recovered by the Steelers. One fifty four to go.
Steelers cannot run out the clock. They're gonna have to
get at least one first down to do it. Once again,
this is a red zone radio. We're live from the
tire rack dot com studios. By the way, we're broadcasting
from the tire rack dot Com studios, tire rack dot com.
We're gonna get you there on a match selection fast
(02:12:14):
ree shipping free road as a protection over ten thousand
recommended installers, tire rack dot com the way tire by
should be.
Speaker 2 (02:12:22):
So the Steelers right now, Rich have a third and
four with a minute fifty four to go. So this
is it a first down for the Steelers and they
can run out the clock. And Justin Fields has been
brought into the game. Yeah, Russell Wilson. So are they
just gonna run the ball or what's the call here?
Speaker 4 (02:12:39):
I believe you tried to pass the last time he
was in down by the goal line and he's kept
it in the zone.
Speaker 3 (02:12:44):
Rea, and that's the game.
Speaker 4 (02:12:45):
That was a great play and also heads up decision
to slide before you hit the sideline, keep the clock running,
and as you mentioned, Steve, that will be how the
Steelers put this one way?
Speaker 3 (02:12:55):
Can I ask you a question back up for it?
All right? You're the Bengals defense.
Speaker 2 (02:12:59):
Yeah, they bring Justin Fields in on a third and four,
basically faked the handoff, kept.
Speaker 3 (02:13:03):
The ball, and they bit how do you leave the
corner unprotected? How do you buy it?
Speaker 2 (02:13:08):
I mean you got to tell yourself, Look, Fields is
in the game. He may fake it, it may hand
it off, but you got to keep an eye on him.
Speaker 4 (02:13:15):
It's just terribly undisciplined play from a defense that has
played this way the entire season. They're in entire backside
of that defense, away from the play side, should have
been shouting to each other, watch QB, watch QB because
you know zone reed is coming and that's exactly what
they ran. By the way, even if he play faked it,
(02:13:38):
you know you want to stay home in a situation
like that because you got to play coverage. Now obviously
you're thinking Steelers are going to keep it on the
ground so you don't have to worry about the pass
as much. But goodness gracious, terribly undisciplined. All right.
Speaker 2 (02:13:51):
We mentioned the Jaguars that cut that lead to twenty
three to twenty. Unfortunately for them, too little, too late
on side kick was not successful. Texans run out the clock.
Texans get a much needed win. They get to eight
and five on the season with the twenty three to
twenty win over the Jaguars. So you look today at
some teams that really needed wins and got it. Commanders
(02:14:13):
at home, they got the win. They go to eight
and five. Texans on the road, they got the win.
They're eight and five. How about the Chargers on the
road winning They're eight and four, Vikings at home, ten
and two. Seahawks on the road, huge win against the
Jets to get to seven and five. So all the
morning games are done, with the exception of the last
(02:14:34):
seconds which now have ticked off. Pittsburgh has defeated Cincinnati
by a score of forty four to thirty eight, four
hundred and fourteen yards passing three touchdowns for Russell Wilson.
Joe Burrow also had three touchdowns, but it was not
enough as the Bengals fall to four and eight.
Speaker 3 (02:14:50):
Bye bye. Their season is over.
Speaker 2 (02:14:53):
Saints early three to nothing lead against the Rams actually
a controversial call in this game Derek Carr was hit
as he threw a pass. The ruling on the field
was a fumble. It was like a simultaneous hit on
his hand. The ball flew out recovered by the RAMS.
They reviewed the play and reversed the call, made it
an incomplete mass.
Speaker 4 (02:15:14):
Recovered by the Rams, but rushed in for a touchdown
on the bumble recovery.
Speaker 3 (02:15:18):
Yeah, by by a defensive end. Who is I don't
know how that was not in the football.
Speaker 1 (02:15:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:15:23):
I agree where his hand was.
Speaker 2 (02:15:25):
It had not actually gotten past parallel, right, you know,
and the ball was clearly knocked out of his hand.
But they called an incomplete pass and the Saints end
up with the field goals, so three nothing. Le Manwell,
the Buccaneers are on the move against Carolina right now.
They have a third and four on the Carolina fourteen
yard line. We were talking about the Bryce Young stat
(02:15:48):
that they flew up there last week. As you know,
Carolina went down the wire against the Chiefs, and against
the Chiefs blitz, which is as good as any blitz
as there is in the NFL. He was he was
eleven of fourteen, one hundred and thirty five yards and
a score.
Speaker 3 (02:16:02):
Bryce Young, Yeah, he looked really good.
Speaker 4 (02:16:04):
He's looked really good in his return to the starting position,
and it takes time. I've always said this about rookies.
Give them, give them a year, give them part of
their next year. If it's if it's starting to look
like there's hope, give him another year. Because you never
know what you're gonna on earth if you give a
player some time. Now, not every coaching staff has the
(02:16:27):
luxury of time. Sometimes you need to get things done
sooner than later, and you got to make hard decisions
like benching a starting quarterback, something that occurred last year
and occurred again this year. Bryce Young, he's starting, You're
starting to see the light. You're starting to see a
guy who for him, it feels like the game is
(02:16:48):
slowing down for him. It feels like he's starting to
get on the same page as the receivers around him. Look,
that's not an overwhelmingly talented football team he's playing for.
They need a lot of help in a lot of
different areas. But if they can build around Bryce Young,
if he actually is if that light at the end
of the tunnel is daylight and it's not a train coming,
(02:17:08):
well maybe Carolina has something special. They can grow together
with Dave Kanalis, who's in his rookie season as a
head coach.
Speaker 2 (02:17:15):
So I'm looking right now at the playoff standings updated
as we sit here right now. On the NFC side, Rich,
it looking pretty clear aside from who's gonna well, I mean,
there's a couple of divisions up for grabs right now,
obviously the NFC West and the NFC South. But you
look at the Lions, the Eagles, the Vikings, Ye, the Packers,
(02:17:41):
and I dare say the Commanders are looking pretty solid
right now.
Speaker 3 (02:17:45):
I would say.
Speaker 2 (02:17:45):
Those five teams are pretty locked in, and then we
just have to wait to see who wins the NFC West,
who wins the NFC South.
Speaker 3 (02:17:55):
Yeah, I would agree with you.
Speaker 4 (02:17:57):
I would say this about the playoff seeding as it stands,
there's still so much turmoil on both sides. It's way
too early to call it, is I mean, you know,
but you mentioned the Chargers huge win keeping themselves relevant,
the Indianapolis Colts, the Houston Texans, all three of them
needed wins.
Speaker 3 (02:18:16):
Well, the Texans are looking pretty solid right now.
Speaker 4 (02:18:19):
Yeah, with that division with eight wins, it feels like
they're going to take the division. But the Colts keep
themselves alive in the wild card chase. They're right behind Denver.
Speaker 3 (02:18:27):
All Right, you got the Steelers winning again. That's huge.
Speaker 2 (02:18:31):
So the Steelers, Bills, Chiefs, Ravens, Chargers.
Speaker 3 (02:18:39):
I mean, see what the Broncos do today. I mean,
you know, I don't know the.
Speaker 4 (02:18:44):
Ravens right now. They just kicked off against the Eagles.
Were just five seconds into this game in Baltimore. If
they lose today, the Pittsburgh Steelers could create necessary distance
here in in the lead for the AFC Worth where
all of a sudden, it's like, I mean.
Speaker 3 (02:19:02):
Well, if the Ravens Lucy Eagles, to write, it could
be a two point two game Leaders is Mike Is
Mike Tomin gonna win the AFC North with this team?
I mean, it's possible, possible. It's funny.
Speaker 2 (02:19:12):
We were talking about NFL Coach of the Year and
you know, we were rattling off a bunch of names
and one name that was not mentioned, and I'm like,
how is this guy not in the conversation? Is Andy Reid?
I mean, you could make an argument this is the
worst eleven and one team we've ever seen.
Speaker 4 (02:19:33):
Yeah, but with the Chiefs, do you want to give
Andy Reid a ton of credit for having a team.
Speaker 2 (02:19:37):
That was I don't know that ways games Yeah, I know,
but I mean the end of that Raiders game was unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (02:19:45):
You got a rookie center snapping the ball. What was
he doing?
Speaker 4 (02:19:48):
I don't think he deserves it. I think Mike Tomlins
don't think he gets credit. He's the best football player
in the game right now is his quarterback. And they
look awful. He looks awful. Patrick Mahone looks awful, and
you are an offensive genius. Andy Reid should be condemned
for how bad the Chiefs look offensively.
Speaker 3 (02:20:06):
He shouldn't be awarded Coach of the Year.
Speaker 4 (02:20:08):
Mike Tomlin has a complete reclamation project on his hands
with Russell Wilson, who just threw for over four hundred
yards in their ninth victory. What was that?
Speaker 3 (02:20:17):
Yeah, they're ninth victory. The reason where is your Where's
Jim Harbor on your voting? Jim Harbo is up there,
Jim Harbo is up there.
Speaker 4 (02:20:24):
I think that Jim Harbaugh is doing a lot more
with less than Andy Reid is. In terms of how
the Chargers looked, I mean the Chargers, they are bereft
of talent outside of Justin Herbert. On their offense, they
have an offensive line that's still a problem. Even though
they drafted Joe Alt, he's still not getting the protection
he deserves. And now they're doing it without JK. Dobbins
(02:20:45):
and they're still finding ways to win. The Chiefs have
zero excuses in my opinion. They have a Hall of
Famer at tight end, they have a Hall of Famer
at quarterback, and Andy Reid is their head coach. They need
to be a better looking team otherwise they're going to
get found out in the playoffs. I am not a
Chief this year. I have them picked to go to
the Super Bowl, and I think the Chief stink they have.
Speaker 2 (02:21:06):
They are the worst eleven and one team I've ever seen.
All right, right now, let's find out what is trending.
He's speaking of Hall of Fame, so mantsei, let me
get this straight.
Speaker 4 (02:21:15):
I say anchor of the year. So I'll say that
right now.
Speaker 2 (02:21:19):
Yes, who would you pick in the game between Minnesota
and Arizona?
Speaker 7 (02:21:24):
I took Minnesota and I had Arizona.
Speaker 2 (02:21:27):
You did, And then in the Jets Seahawks game you picked.
Speaker 8 (02:21:31):
I took the Seahawks uncomfortably and I.
Speaker 3 (02:21:34):
Took the Jets.
Speaker 2 (02:21:36):
So I had both of those games seemingly in my pocket.
Speaker 3 (02:21:39):
And now I lost both those games.
Speaker 2 (02:21:42):
You did, and I lost an over under you sure did.
So I actually have negative one point.
Speaker 7 (02:21:47):
Currently negative negative one.
Speaker 3 (02:21:49):
So I need the Ravens and an.
Speaker 7 (02:21:52):
Over to do any damage.
Speaker 2 (02:21:54):
Yes, I need a Ravens win and an over. And
that's fifty one and a half. What do you think
of the overrunner in that game? With the ego and Ravens.
That's a big number. That's a big number in the
end that I'm saying. Twenty eight twenty four. That's a cover.
Speaker 3 (02:22:06):
That is a cover. Twenty eight twenty four. Ravens Eagles.
You want to hear something crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:22:11):
I could see the Ravens winning this game, yeah, but
I could see.
Speaker 7 (02:22:14):
It being like a low scoring game.
Speaker 4 (02:22:16):
Yeah, like a like a seventeen ten.
Speaker 2 (02:22:19):
That would be a negative point for me. That would
give me a that would wrap up a negative week
for me.
Speaker 8 (02:22:25):
That would that would but hey, we'll see what happens here.
Speaker 7 (02:22:28):
Eagles and Ravens just got going.
Speaker 8 (02:22:31):
Mike Evans just had a ridiculous catch in the end
zone from Baker Mayfield. The Buccaneers are now on the scoreboard.
They're beating the Panthers seven to zero with less than
five minutes to go in the first. The Saints are
on top of the Rams three zero late in the
first as well. Seven games have wrapped up. They all
ended kind of at the same time, which is what
we like. The Steelers improved to nine and three with
(02:22:52):
the forty four to thirty eight win over the Bengals.
Speaker 7 (02:22:55):
So Mike Tomlin yet to have a losing season eighteen
years ibelieve Yeah.
Speaker 8 (02:23:00):
ESPN put a tweet out that said death taxes and
Mike Tomlin not having.
Speaker 2 (02:23:07):
I'll put it this way. They put Bill Cower in
the Hall of Fame. Mike Tomlins had a better career
than Bill Cower had. Look get up, yeah, no if
fire winning percentage as many Super Bowls that Bill Cowers
on the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (02:23:20):
Mike Tomlin is a lock.
Speaker 8 (02:23:21):
It's it is unreal what he does in Pittsburgh. The
Vikings are now ten and two, coming back from behind
to edge the Cardinals twenty three to twenty two. Sam
Darnold twenty one of thirty one, two hundred and thirty
five yards and two touchdowns, including that one to Aaron
Jones that took the lead for Minnesota. With one thirteen
left in the game. The Seahawks are now seven and five.
They outscore the Jets twenty six to twenty one. Gino
(02:23:43):
Smith twenty of thirty one two hundred and six yards
and a touchdown. Seattle's defense had a pick six and
did not allow any points in the second half. The
Chargers improved to eight and four. They defeat the Falcons
seventeen thirteen. Justin Herbert sixteen of twenty three, one hundred
and forty seven yards.
Speaker 7 (02:23:57):
That was it, and it was enough. He was sacked
five times.
Speaker 8 (02:23:59):
It was Aers defense who had a pick six in
the second half, and then they went for a successful
two point conversion.
Speaker 7 (02:24:04):
They get the win.
Speaker 8 (02:24:05):
The Colts hold on to beat the Patriots twenty five
to twenty four.
Speaker 4 (02:24:08):
It was a.
Speaker 8 (02:24:09):
Sixty eight yard field goal from kicker Joey Slide that
went right down the middle but was just short.
Speaker 3 (02:24:15):
I thought it was sixty three. It was sixty eight.
Speaker 7 (02:24:18):
Wow, it was sixty eight.
Speaker 3 (02:24:20):
Je was right down the middle, so close, so close,
that would.
Speaker 2 (02:24:23):
Have been an NFL record. Kick Tucker as the record
sixty six.
Speaker 10 (02:24:26):
Yep.
Speaker 8 (02:24:26):
It would have been an NFL record and they would
have won, so it would have been a super crazy
Anthony Richardson for the Colts led the way.
Speaker 7 (02:24:33):
He was twelve to twenty.
Speaker 8 (02:24:33):
Four, one hundred and nine yards and two touchdowns two interceptions,
but he led the game winning drive with the three
yard touchdown pass to Alec Pearce, then drove it in
himself for a successful two point conversion that left twelve
seconds left in the game.
Speaker 7 (02:24:44):
The Commanders are now eight and five. They bounced back.
Speaker 8 (02:24:47):
They crushed the Titans forty two to nineteen. Jade and
Daniels twenty five of thirty two hundred and six yards,
three touchdowns, one interception. He also had nine carries thirty
four yards and a touchdown, and the Texans hold on
to beat the Jaguars twenty three to twenty The one
a brutal hit early on in the game against quarterback
Trevor Lawrence, resulting in a couple of ejections. Mac Jones
was in the game for the Jogs. He ended twenty
(02:25:08):
of thirty two for two hundred and thirty five yards
and two touchdowns in the lost We'll ce j Stroud
twenty two of thirty four two hundred and forty two
yards and one touchdown and.
Speaker 7 (02:25:15):
The Texans improved to eight and five.
Speaker 2 (02:25:18):
Back to you guys, all right, great stuff as always, Moncie,
And this could be the week that she literally catches
up and passes me in one week.
Speaker 3 (02:25:28):
You really real, you really screwed up, Buddy Oi to
any of the Ravens and a big, big score in
that game.
Speaker 2 (02:25:34):

You'll see the show posted right after we get off
the air. All right, So we got the two games
going on right now, getting ready for the kickoff of
the game between the Eagles and the Ravens Buccaneers with
that seven not the lead. We were talking to Chris
Myers earlier. He's announcing that game. Baker Mayfield came into
(02:26:09):
this week leading the NFL and touchdown passes Baker Mayfield. Baker,
Remember he was without his top receivers for a couple
of weeks. Evans and Godwin were out there back and
that's going to make things a little bit better. That's
another team, a sneaky team. With Atlanta now in a
free fall, they could you know, again escape with a
division title, get in the playoffs, believe it or not,
(02:26:32):
for the fifth consecutive year. By the way, they would
be the only NFC team I believe to actually get.
Speaker 3 (02:26:37):
Into the playoffs each of the last five years NFC.
Speaker 4 (02:26:40):
That is pretty impressive. I didn't know that stat. Look,
I mean, it hasn't been perfect for the Buccaneers this season.
They went on that four game losing streak. Yeah, they
lost consecutive games to the Ravens, Falcons, Chiefs and then
the forty nine ers before a bye week. They came
back and beat the Giants, got healthier, got Mike Evans back.
Looked better in that game, especially from a rushing attack standpoint.
(02:27:03):
And Chris Myers, when he joined us earlier, he's on
the cause you mentioned today. He said that Bucky Irving,
he's really started to carry the load and they've they've
begun to trust him more.
Speaker 3 (02:27:14):
You could see it. You could see it in the
box score.
Speaker 4 (02:27:16):
It's been a pleasure to see some of the strain
taking off the passing game in Tampa Bay, because they
could have really used it at this point their season.
By the way, they're going against the Panthers team who
cannot stop the run. They're averaging giving up over one
hundred and sixty yards on the ground. So if you're
gonna beat the Panthers, it's gonna be on the ground.
(02:27:37):
And fortunately for the Buccaneers they've been pretty good on
the ground recently.
Speaker 2 (02:27:40):
Well, my overprediction for the Ravens and Eagles is off
to rough start. Eagles three and out, Ravens three and out,
all right, Oh no, no, no. The Ravens get a
break as Lamark Jackson was sacked on third down, but
the Eagles get called for defense of holding, giving the
Ravens an automatic first down.
Speaker 4 (02:28:01):
Just barely a hold man. That is ticky tacky right there.
Speaker 2 (02:28:05):
Because he got sacked on that play would have been
a hunting situation. By the way, Sakuon Barkley's first carry
of the game, twelve yards okay for the Eagles. Okay,
so he is averaging let me do the math. Twelve
yards of carrot.
Speaker 3 (02:28:18):
I'll tell you what. If he keeps that up, that
may break a record. Here's the problem. In the Eagles
first drive, Jalen Hurts zero for two passing.
Speaker 4 (02:28:27):
Yeah, that does hurt.
Speaker 3 (02:28:28):
That's zero. But here's the deal. It's early big pass
play for the Ravens. There we go. Is that Zay
Flowers again?
Speaker 4 (02:28:36):
Is Zay Flowers?
Speaker 3 (02:28:37):
He just has been phenomenal.
Speaker 4 (02:28:39):
He drew the penalty and right there he gets a
huge reception for the Ravens, bails them out. So all
of a sudden, extending this drive after the penalty against
the Eagles there over midfield.
Speaker 2 (02:28:51):
Now, yeah, so the Ravens opening drive trying to get
some points on the board. Gosh, Lamar Jackson just spitting away,
throwing going left perfect past a Jones, wide open and
he's got the ball in the red zone down to
about the fifteen yard line. So the Ravens looking to
jump on the Eagles first in this game. Bo is
(02:29:12):
sitting back quietly as he's watching Derrick Henry run for
the ball. Yeah, this has been you know again, the
Ravens are a hard team to figure out. The one
thing they have not done well this year the Ravens
is defend the pass.
Speaker 3 (02:29:26):
No, they have not. They're not a complete team.
Speaker 4 (02:29:29):
They are not. I will say this though, Lamar Jackson
against NFC teams over the course of his career twenty
three to one record.
Speaker 3 (02:29:38):
Love that stat.
Speaker 4 (02:29:39):
So here's the reason why interconference rivals really they don't
see him enough. So if you're you're in the NFC,
you know, whether it doesn't matter what the vision, you
just don't play them enough to get used to his speed,
to get used to the variability. Eagles read that play, Yeah,
they certainly did. Zay Flowers got handed the ball on
a jet sweep and he got tackled for about it.
Speaker 2 (02:30:02):
I love that he gets completely thrown to the ground,
tackled immediately and then jumps up like, yeah, I didn't
get tackled.
Speaker 4 (02:30:08):
How about Carter on this play? That was a beautiful
tackle for loss. But you're absolutely right, Zay Flowers thought the.
Speaker 2 (02:30:14):
Play with even if he got thrown over these lands
on his knee right there, that would put you down
immediately sell the card man.
Speaker 3 (02:30:20):
Look how fast he is. He's cat quit me. He
just bloated off that lot.
Speaker 4 (02:30:25):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (02:30:26):
So big play for the sets up a third and
nine out for the Ravens all day to pass and
that is going to be incomplete out of Mark Andrews hands,
so a field goal situation for the Ravens. Try to
get the ball on the scoreboard first here as they
are taking on the Eagles. So later on we got
the Bills in forty nine ers, Rich, Yes, sir, Obviously
(02:30:48):
the Bills are prohibitive favored against a forty nine er
team that will have brought purty Back when I was
talking to Adam Kaplan when I asked him about Coach
of the Year, the first name that came out out
of his mouth, and by the way he votes on
a couple of these, Sean McDermott. First name out of
his mouth for Coach of the Year Sean McDermott. You
(02:31:09):
mentioned earlier that the Bills maybe the best team in
the NFL.
Speaker 4 (02:31:15):
They're certainly making the most convincing argument as of late.
It isn't the Chiefs, the Detroit Lions. The Margins are
getting slimmer as they get less and less healthy. And
that was complete survival against the Bears on Thanksgiving. I
look at teams like the Ravens, like, if the Ravens
beat the Eagles, they've got to be in that conversation.
(02:31:38):
A team like the Buffalo Bills They've got to be
in that conversation, and it really is kind of neck
and neck there in the AFC. If both those teams
win today, now San Francisco a much easier draw for
Buffalo today than the Eagles. For the Ravens. Yeah, I mean,
so if both teams win, all things being equal for
(02:32:00):
the moment, I mean, with the Ravens victory over the
Bills earlier this season, I guess you would give them
a slight edge. Although again, who do you trust more
in a clutch moment, Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson. That's
a question you got to ask yourself.
Speaker 2 (02:32:13):
Well, Josh Allen again, by most polls that I've been reading,
is the favorite right now for MVP right and I
think Jackson's there, Sakwon, Barkley's there, but right now, slight
edge to Josh Allen. I would ask you about the
Monday night game, but it's such a bad game between
the Browns and the Broncos unless you want to go
back to the drive when John Elway got the drive
(02:32:35):
back in nineteen eighty six against the Browns in the
AFC Championship game.
Speaker 4 (02:32:39):
As a how about this though, here's what I will
say I know it's kind of a dog Kney game,
but I will say Sean Payton, what he has done
with Bonnicks has been very impressive, thank you. Now he's
got his hands full because the Browns defense is to
be feared, Yes it is. And defensive coordinator.
Speaker 2 (02:32:55):
They're coming off that big win against the Steelers. They
got to be feeling pretty good about them.
Speaker 4 (02:32:58):
So Jim Schwartz defensive coordinator eighteen and seven and one
all time against rookie quarterbacks. So this is going to
be a tough hill to climb for Bonnicks. But still,
I mean when you look at the tail of the tape, gosh,
the Browns they've made such a mistake at quarterback. With
all the talent they have, it has completely destroyed them.
(02:33:20):
And we have a destroyed them.
Speaker 2 (02:33:22):
We have a missed thirty five yard field goal by
the Saints. Yes, remember what we were talking about like
kickers never missing. There have been a lot of misses
over the last couple of weeks. I don't know what
it is. Maybe their legs are tired. All right, We'll
continue on here with all the latest on games. Three
games right now going on in the NFL. This is
red Zone Radio Ah just celebrating the holiday season, turning
(02:33:45):
in the calendar until the month of December. It is
all good if you're a football fan. Once again Red
Zone Radio. We are live from the Tairak dot Com studios.
Kurse want to thank our a plus plus legendary today,
Montcy Belanos, who, depending on how this Ravens game goes,
(02:34:05):
could literally be leading me uh inpis it's possible.
Speaker 7 (02:34:10):
And the cherry on top is the Chargers.
Speaker 2 (02:34:12):
Winning and the Chargers winning. She's a true blue Chargers.
Speaker 4 (02:34:16):
Making the signal for the chariot tops. I thought you
were giving the double arm bicep just the war on
the shore, Steve coming for you, and you're thought about
putting on a bolt Man head.
Speaker 3 (02:34:30):
Yeah, not bad.
Speaker 2 (02:34:32):
No, No, bolt Man was a friend of ours. I
remember the guy was he was. He was unbelievable. He
wasn't a he was Boltman. It wasn't like a Boltman.
I mean he was one hundred.
Speaker 4 (02:34:42):
Bolt and you had to refer to him as mister
Man or it was man.
Speaker 2 (02:34:47):
It was one of the classic photos of this guy
bolt Man talking to the San Diego City Council when
they were trying to convince the Chargers not.
Speaker 3 (02:34:57):
To lose the San Diego and it was phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (02:35:02):
Well, once again, Chris is sitting comfortably with his lions
right now. I want the Vikings to stop winning, so
there's at least some All right, don't worry about the Vikings.
As I told you, the Vikings have no chance to
overcome that game against all they did against Arizona.
Speaker 12 (02:35:18):
Yeah, no, but it is It is fun to have
a game where usually you look at that game and
it's like everything's about to go against the lion.
Speaker 3 (02:35:25):
Wait, what happened? Why did we just won? Okay, we
just won? Yeah, great, fantastic, So that's what happens. Well
is uh? Well, I mean he's Eagles. They're looking good
right now.
Speaker 5 (02:35:37):
And you skip the biggest story of the week, the
world champion Los Angeles Dodgers signing two times Cy Young winner.
Speaker 2 (02:35:44):
Blake's now to Well, I don't know what to tell
you about now, Rich and I am. Here's the thing,
Rich and I know Blake from Sandy. He's a great character.
He was a phenomenal interview. He interviewed him a few times.
But he's all over the map. I mean he is
all in or he is all out.
Speaker 5 (02:36:00):
I tell you what, before the signing was official, he
was already posting Dodger stuff to his Instagram story. So well,
he's excited.
Speaker 3 (02:36:06):
He's a I love on a personal level. You will
love Blake.
Speaker 2 (02:36:10):
So yeah, dude, he is a fun, fun, fun guy.
He's a great interview. He's a fun guy.
Speaker 3 (02:36:16):
Here's a trick and he's got nasty stuff when he
can throw strikes.
Speaker 5 (02:36:19):
Got to spend my Thanksgiving reading sad giants and Padres fans.
Speaker 3 (02:36:23):
Yeah, complaining.
Speaker 10 (02:36:25):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:36:26):
I don't know what everyone's bitching about with the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (02:36:29):
I mean, the.
Speaker 3 (02:36:29):
Fact was.
Speaker 7 (02:36:37):
Bettle for real though for.
Speaker 3 (02:36:39):
Ye yeah yeah, but I mean really feel.
Speaker 2 (02:36:42):
But the problem is everyone's saying, you know, he's spending
all this money. Well, yeah, they were able to get
a deal done with Shoey o'dani where they deferred the
entire content.
Speaker 4 (02:36:50):
Right now, don't defer my contract. I want my paycheck
every two weeks. Yeah, okay, So these these guys, they're
putting off some long term games for short term success,
and I appreciate it. In fact, I think the Dodgers
should have all the all stars. I think I think
they should.
Speaker 3 (02:37:07):
Kind of, I mean, what what is the what's the point.
Speaker 4 (02:37:10):
Of even having thirty teams? Why not just one? I mean,
I think it's kind of more fun. That's the Dodgers
playing interleag How many consecutive World Series have the Dodgers won, Well,
that's one, one one.
Speaker 2 (02:37:26):
It's not like they've rattled off like five straight World
Series wins.
Speaker 3 (02:37:30):
I thought it was a trick question. I thought it
was illegal to do. Yeah, yeah, they can't do that,
so they still have a lot of work to do.
They have a lot of question marks.
Speaker 4 (02:37:37):
Honestly, I think they should sign Aaron Judge next.
Speaker 3 (02:37:41):
That's what I want.
Speaker 5 (02:37:42):
They should sign his teammate. Yeah, it'd be really funny.
Speaker 4 (02:37:45):
You really got And.
Speaker 3 (02:37:48):
How about trade for Judge? Sign one Soto?
Speaker 5 (02:37:52):
Did you see Aaron Judge?
Speaker 4 (02:37:53):
It's fair.
Speaker 5 (02:37:53):
Do you see Aaron Judge in game five? I don't
know about that.
Speaker 2 (02:37:56):
Well, let me ask you this, mister Dodgers. Do you
want Taoscar Hernanda's back?
Speaker 5 (02:38:00):
Yes, if they don't get on soda, sure I want
them both.
Speaker 3 (02:38:03):
So you would rather have soda than ta Oscar.
Speaker 5 (02:38:05):
It's not even a quiet You mean the guy.
Speaker 3 (02:38:07):
That walks all the time, that guy won soda.
Speaker 5 (02:38:09):
One of the greatest Titters of all time.
Speaker 4 (02:38:10):
Yes, I would love to answer to every question is yes.
Speaker 3 (02:38:13):
And I also want them to trade for Jackson Merrill.
Speaker 7 (02:38:15):
Why not?
Speaker 3 (02:38:16):
And I want them to have Paul Skens before the
end of the un That's what I tell you right now.
They're three. I want her signed to contract. Here the
Dodgers pitching the first round of the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (02:38:29):
Next year, We'll have Dustin May, They'll have Gonsolin, and
they'll have Clayton Kershaw.
Speaker 3 (02:38:36):
Those will be their three starting pitchers.
Speaker 5 (02:38:38):
They'll win it again. That's crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:38:39):
That is insane. That is absolutely insane.
Speaker 3 (02:38:42):
I don't know they're all in the contract. Is Clayton
Kersh not going to pitch again next year?
Speaker 4 (02:38:46):
I'll tell you what I say, Just defer his contract,
make him the new mascot.
Speaker 3 (02:38:50):
Yeah, very very good.
Speaker 2 (02:38:52):
We're watching right now as the Ravens are on the
move again, Derrick Henry running over Eagles players.
Speaker 3 (02:39:01):
Ravens lead this game three to nothing. I'm just gonna
put this out here.
Speaker 4 (02:39:05):
I think the Dodgers should sign dark Henry too, Derek,
that would be good.
Speaker 3 (02:39:08):
I'm fine with that. I mean, he's good for twelve
hundred yards a season nowadays.
Speaker 5 (02:39:12):
Can you imagine Derrick Henry chugging down the third baseline.
Speaker 3 (02:39:14):
We'll put that first base.
Speaker 4 (02:39:16):
You would not have to worry about a catcher blocking
the base path.
Speaker 2 (02:39:20):
He is just I mean, when he gets downhill, I
forget it. That guy's no one knows he's gonna attackle
that guy, all right, penalty on the Ravens. All right,
So quickly we got Buccaneers leading the Panthers seven to three.
Right now, Saints over the Rams three nothing. We're both
picking the Bills tonight. Is at a sort of a lock.
He going Bills over the forty nine. Dodgers win the
(02:39:41):
Super Bowl this year? Who do you think will be
the Super Bowl MVP? Do you think they'll also win
the NBA? How about the NBA Cup? Can they win
the NBA Cup?
Speaker 3 (02:39:49):
Season turn the lad at NBA.
Speaker 2 (02:39:52):
The Dodgers win the NBA Cup, that would be unprecedented,
more wacky.
Speaker 3 (02:39:57):
Yeah, Red Zoe Radio coming out up
