Speaker 3 (00:21):
Com the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Well, hang on your brackets right now because one team
that I know we all have a team going very
deep in this tournament is in trouble right now. That
would be the one seed Florida right now trailing UCON
fifty five fifty four. We're inside six minutes to go
in this game. So obviously we're gonna update you on
(00:44):
this one. Veja, I have to admit, look, I was
like a lot of people. I'm like, wow, Okay, Florida
won the SEC tournament. You know, we were talking Auburn,
we were talking to Alabama, talking all these teams out
of the SEC. But at the end, Florida was playing
the best basketball. Fine, I'll buy into them. I'll put
him in my fine know for Yukon. After back to
back championships. Did not look great this year. Some people
(01:05):
thought they got a gift even getting an eight seed.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Uh in a very weak Big East this year. Uh.
But you know, okay, give it to them, and they
won back to back championships.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
So I'm watching this game VJA. Florida does not look
good like this. If this is a one seed, you
gotta be kidding me. As always, man, it's always good
to be here with you.
Speaker 4 (01:27):
Steve hart my Man, Hartman, Hartman Huskin as we call
it now and all the listeners out there Fox Sports
Radio listening to land VJA vert hus get big for
another funny and the building is You're right, man, they
don't look good right now, but this is the tourney,
like this is what happens. And listen, we say, don't
look good right now? Five fifty second half, fifty five
to fifty four. It's a one point game. This game
is not over.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
They just ricked another free throw. Yeah, they just missed
another Florida. What did I buy into this?
Speaker 5 (01:51):
Now?
Speaker 6 (01:52):
That's on that's on you.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
But let me just say this, you don't have to
always buy into what everybody else is picking. Charles Barkley
picked them to win it, so every nobody's buying it too.
And I looked at it and I go, Okay, you
played in the toughest conference all year long. Right, conference
got fourteen teams in an NCAA record for a tournament.
The top team in that conference has already been through
(02:13):
the Gunglan. It's just like the years when Duke and
Carolina were winning the ACC. When the ACC was king,
they rarely won the national championship because you got beat
up already from December all the way to February, and
then you had to play through the ACC tournament and
then you have Duke and Carolina on your chest. So
(02:34):
even a sixteen wants to give you hell. They may not,
but then the next round the eight of the nine
wants to give you hell. Then the next round the
five and the four wants to give you out. You
get everybody's best shot because you're perceived to be the favorite.
They're perceived to be the favorite. But if you look
at Yukon in just this game, you are talking about
a team that just went back to back national champions
Now they've the championship.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Now they've lost a lot of players. Yeah, but they
were starters.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
Yeah, but they also got a lot of players that's
been there. They have the same coaches that's been there,
they say, the same coacher that's been there. They have
the same energy that's been there, They have the same
coaraderie that's been there.
Speaker 6 (03:06):
So even though the seed may not match.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
What we're used to seeing with them, when you put
them on the floor, gets a team like Florida who
ain't won nothing lately, ain't won nothing in the since
Billy Donovan and Joe Kim Noah and those guys and
Al Horford ain't want nothing since then. They've been good
since then. This is a team that still knows how
to win in Yukon. They still not a show up
for the big game. And the one thing about the
tournament side from coaches, I'm sure we'll get into that later.
(03:30):
The one thing you got to have in the tournament
is you have to have a team that knows what
it's like to be there, and when you don't.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Have that, you're getting games like this.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Well, and you mentioned coaches, I mean, look, college basketball
is coaches.
Speaker 3 (03:42):
It's always been that way, and.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
That is why the Izzo's have been able to navigate
Michigan State teams that otherwise could be very forgettable all
the way into the Final four. These coaches know the
path to get there, and obviously Dan Hurley is in
that class, so you.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
Know what we're watching right now.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
And obviously, since so many of you out there with
your brackets, this is a huge game for you if
you have Florida, like most of you do, getting at
least to the Elite eight Final four. Now, a lot
of people haven't not only winning championships or you know,
getting to the championship game. So right now, Yukon leading
fifty seven fifty six, We got four forty two to
(04:20):
go in this game. Right now Yukon is at the
free throw line. So we'll continue to update you on
this now. VJ, we were sitting here a week ago
and we were talking about brackets, and you promised you
wanted to do a head to head, and so I
filed my bracket into the official Fox Sports Radio archives,
where of course I got the sixteen to zero first day.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
It's well documented, and I'm looking at I've got where
there's thirty three hosts here at Fox Sports Radio that
have a bracket, and I'm like, where is Vj's bracket?
Where is your bracket.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
All right, So first of all, let me get y'all
some bracket, some bracket update from VJ.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Verne Husky just real, foun let me givet youyall some
bra update. Yeah, okay, well happen.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Let's start with the bracket that you myself and you
said Monci was gonna do. You sold it to me
as the three of us were gonna do three brackets
against each other.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
And I only do one. No, no, but that's not
what you said though, that's not what you said.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
You know that I'm going to enter my bracket into
the box for twenty challenge.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
That's fine.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
I don't do separate brackets, that's fine, but that's not
what you said. I'm going by what you said. I'm
not going to make an assumption. I'm gonna tell you
let me get to it. You didn't say you were
everybody does that bracket here, but you said, yeah, you
want to you want to go head to head.
Speaker 6 (05:36):
When you say head to head, I don't.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
Do different brackets.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
I do one bracket if I can enter it in
multiple competitions, don't. I don't want to believe when people say, well,
I got two or three different brads no.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
You do one.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
I'm different. I do like twenty brackets. Why yeah, because
I want to Well.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
That's ridiculous, and then if you get one of them right,
you take.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Credit for it.
Speaker 6 (05:57):
Nope. See I don't rock like that.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
I just say, man, I did that to I mean
when I ended up shaking out one.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
You canna enter one bracket into multiple competitions, but you
don't do more than.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
One, more than one bracket. Then if you're into it,
you want no credit for that. Notable brackets in different.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Like when at work, one at home one with your homeboys,
what would your college alone, what would your FRA tournament.
It's the same bracket. It's the same bracket. You're not.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
You're not gonna you're gonna make a different pick down
the line. You're not gonna pay for that. Your mind's
gonna change.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
Chunking this game away now.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
My thing about me not doing a bracket this year,
I've won enough brackets, the bractice, the practice.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
I want enough practice I have.
Speaker 2 (06:34):
I want enough practice, especially if you're doing seven or eight.
Speaker 6 (06:37):
Different brackets practice.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
Man, I wanted to just enjoy the tournament this year
because I feel like college basketball is slipping and I
didn't want to watch the tournament this year within hopes
that this underdog makes this big because I picked it.
I wanted to see it naturally matchur rate through the
tournament like we're seeing right now. I wanted to pick
U Kon over Florida. But I can see why you
(06:59):
call winning this game by three, and it's more enjoyable
that way. I'm not sitting here going, man, come on
Florida because of my bracket.
Speaker 6 (07:06):
I'm just sitting here going, come on, Florida.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
You won the SEC toughest conference, fourteen teams, two time
definish champion, lose four starters if you get knocked out
the sect.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Can you understand you are in the minority here, because fine,
the overwhelming majority of people that are watching this NCAA
tournament are only doing so because of their brackets.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
That's the problem.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
And you know, if they somehow have survived the first
weekend going into the sweet sixty and their brackets are
still lied, they have interests. If their brackets are busted,
bye bye, unless they actually have a team that they
have a vested interest in. That's the way march madness
works every single a To.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
The point I'm making I didn't, but I didn't want
it to work for me like that. This year.
Speaker 4 (07:44):
I wanted to just sit and enjoy the tournament because,
like you just said, we talked about this last week
where the stars man, they're no star Cooper Flag.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
Listen, he's a name people popping up because he's just
the name people know. He's he's a really good college bats.
Or like, he's not a great college.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
Bats honey, and all that, he's eighteen years old.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
I'm talking about what he is right now. What he
is right now is a very good college basketball player.
He's not a unanimous AP first team All America. Okay,
and well let's see if he could do what like
Carmelo Anthony did, who took his team to a national
championship as a freshman.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
So what Weber did, what Rose did? Oh wait, wait,
don't forget Anthony Davis.
Speaker 6 (08:17):
Did what Derek Rose did.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
These freshmen were great players and they walked through the
tournament to the national championship game. He goes home early.
Don't tell me that we have a star in college basketball.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
The school that I have winning at all Duke. So
if Duke does win the national championship and Cooper flag.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
What don't put lunch on it? What is this?
Speaker 2 (08:35):
I don't even know what you have. You don't even
have a broadcast. Who are you picking? It's me versus
the field.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
I like Bama. I like Bama.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
Okay, so like bamaduke and I don't want never wins nothing.
I like you owe me lunch and Alabama neither one.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
It's it's course of course, that's a was you know
this is this is for the whole studio? Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah,
okay speaking sure, yeah, look, were lous for everybody.
Speaker 6 (09:05):
Look we're both quick to go.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Yeah. No, I know what he's doing. No, this isn't
lunch for everybody.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Yes, this is no one they get cheated here, Well,
they don't get cheated I mean, if anything, they get
rewarded gracefully every single week by mine. So the Brexast
burritos for you guys every single week.
Speaker 5 (09:24):
Now.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
I've been working on Saturdays and every day but Sunday
for nine years, so I've never gotten one.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
All right, we are at sixty one fifty eight Yukon.
There's three forty one to go in the game of regulation.
Right now, there's a timeout. So, uh, Florida definitely on
the ropes, uh taking on again a Yukon team. We
were talking about what happened yesterday with Saint John's. I mean,
you talk about a nightmare game. Shot twenty eight percent
(09:49):
from the field, looked absolutely awful. And this was Yukon,
who was an also ran in that same conference, the
Being East Conference. It was dominated by Saint John's, won
the regular season championship, won the conference tournament.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
And if you watch yesterday, I mean you're like, wow, Wow.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
You really bought Arkansas. You're talking about a team again
from the SEC. They've been through the battles all year.
They looked more physical than him yesterday. They looked more prepared.
They were big. They were bigger than I thought they were.
Arkansas's bigger than people think they are. At six eleven,
kid that was only averaging five points all season long,
and in the last four games he's been averaging eighteen
and a half with non rebounds.
Speaker 6 (10:24):
Like that kid is a legit six seven.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
I mean he's six to eleven but long, so he
protected the rim and when he got the ball into
the post, they couldn't stop him at all. They were tougher.
And I tweeted that I thought Calipari after CALIBPARTI knocked
off Bill self, I tweeted from the Laker again coming
to the Laker game the other night Thursday, they covering
the Bucks game, that John Calipari could just flat out
f and coach back like that man could just coach.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
That's interesting you say that now because Cali Perry was
getting absolutely killed at Kentucky, because they won one championship
with all that you know, five star talent year after
year after the year after year after year.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Every big but again, you were counting on freshmen.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
I mean it worked with Anthony Davis, but you were
counting on freshmen every year to somehow put it all
together in one year and then go against more experienced
teams in the tournament.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
And they were coming up short.
Speaker 6 (11:11):
Freshman were all all getting drafted first round.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Love he picks by the way too, So with his encouragement,
he was shoving him out the door, all right, Another
five coming in another misfree throw by Florida sixty one
fifty nine, Yukon leading Florida three eighteen and counting to
go in regulation. This would obviously be a huge upset
and a real bracket buster if they were to win
(11:35):
this game.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
They just missed a shot. So Florida's coming down. I'll
hanging on right here. See what you did?
Speaker 6 (11:41):
Was this game? Three minute mark?
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Call it right now? Who was this game? I'm gonna
say Florida wins this game. You think Florida Pavilla.
Speaker 2 (11:47):
Here's a three point shot, boom, and Florida just takes
the lead for the first time in a long time.
Sixty two to sixty one. All right, this is a
good place there, both take it. We'll be right back.
We got a lot more coming up on this game.
We're gonna get your set for a full day because
by day's end, the Sweet sixteen will be determined.

Florida has taken control of this game. They now lead
seventy to sixty four over Ucon and they scott a rebound,
So seventy two sixty four forty seconds ago, Florida will
survive and they will move on knocking out the two
(13:08):
time defending champion.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
A Yukon Huskies.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
Are you favor because of their husky moniker, mister VJ.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Husky, I've never made that connection with Yukon, like the
hotskis one. And then you're like, yeah, Tar Hills, stop
playing with me.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
Man tar Hills says up baby Blutes and basketball wisees, by.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
The way, one of my four losses on my brackets,
my Mara is your tar Heels. Not only did I
have him win the playing game, which they did easily,
I thought they would.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
Win in the first round and they did it. They
should have beat Ole Miser. But you can't fire Hubert Davis.
Oh stop, that's silly talk.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Why you're just saying that because he's a legacy guy
or has he really done a good job at North Carolina?
Speaker 4 (13:48):
Well, all right, so let's say this, three tournaments out
of the four years he's been there, national championship.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Appearance making, making the tournament doesn't when, yes it does,
and it always counts.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Yeah, but you're not the one hiring, so the people
that hiring making a tournament does count? Final four and
the national Championship. Here as an a seed okay, uh
plus plus record, beating Duke right now, beating his rival?
Why would you fire him? This wasn't Kings got fired
at NC State.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
He got an eleven seed to the final four a
year ago, and now he's the ex NC State com.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Yeah, and McNee state in fighting. Joe Dumars's head coaches
now heading over there to NC State. But that's not Carolina, Carolina,
no make changes like that.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Carolina has a high look at James Worthy. Big Game
has been a dear friend of mine for years. We
used to have this rivalry with the old North Carolina UCLA.
Which team has more final four appearances right now, North
Carolina has one more than UCLA, So I have to
give it to the tar Heels. But I mean, I
would imagine that you you look at you look at
North Carolina basketball. There there's only one standard. Are you
(14:46):
win a national championship or you don't?
Speaker 3 (14:50):
Right? All right? I mean, isn't that the standard at
North Carolina? Okay, that is a standard. So if you
don't do what you fired a coach, Well, how many
years do you give Hubert Davis While you say, m dude,
you haven't won national championship, we need to bring in
somebody else because that's our standard. We need to win
national championships. Dean Smith did, Roy Williams did, That's what
we need to do.
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Don't get back there when it a game. He's already
been to a game, and they should have won the game.
They were in there up on Kansas by eight points
in that game. And then the backcourt just fell apart.
And then Christian Brown, who's with the Denver Nuggets balling
right now, it just took the true freshmen just took
the game over. Hit shot off the shot, out the shot.
It happens, but firing Hubert firing Hubert Davis is silly talk.
Anybody saying it don't know nothing about college sports and
(15:30):
college basketball at all, So firing Hubert Davis is silly talk.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
We're not firing Hubert Davis. All right, let's talk a
little bit about this year's brackets. So, you know, I've
done very well.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
A lot of people are doing well this year that
didn't pick a lot of upsets. If you picked a
lot of upsets, it didn't happen this year. And the
theory on why it's not happening. I'm obviously get your
thoughts here on this VJ, but it's apparent to a
lot of people that what's happening these mid major schools
are losing their start talent with the transfer portal. You know,
if you have a mid major team and you have
(16:03):
a kid that has talent, then you know, might come
back the following year and guide you to a deep
run in the tournament. They're gone. They've moved up to
a bigger school, bigger money as far as NIL money,
and so we're always we've always been wondering since the introduction,
not only the NIL but really this transfer portal, what
effect is it going to have long term?
Speaker 3 (16:23):
On the collegiate game.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Well, it looks at least now that as far as
Division one basketball is concerned, it's going to have a
major impact on these mid majors who have been making
a lot of noise in the tournament over the last
ten or fifteen years, and those days may be gone
because they're going to continuously lose their talent to the
bigger schools who have more money to offer a higher
(16:46):
profile offer for talent that has you know, their site
set on a career in the NBA.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
Uh No, disagree to completely disagree.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
I'll tell you why.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
You're still going to get the blue chips, right, You're
still going to get the five and four star guys.
The mid major ain't going nowhere. As as Drake and
McNee state. You had two right there who won this year,
who beat Power five schools this year, So that's not
gonna happen. Can you pluck guys from mid major? As
far as nil and transfer portal transporport is not affecting
the mid majors as much as people. What there is
(17:16):
affecting is the bigger schools. There's a kid that was
playing for Saint John's last night. I believe who's at
his fourth school. They're all power five school I think
it was New Mexico State, Nebraska, I believe, Tennessee, and
then now Saint John's.
Speaker 6 (17:31):
There's not a mid.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
Major in there where guys are going and plucking from
Portal and in Il. In my opinion, they're going to
get a kid from Nordre Dane and bringing them to Carolina.
They're going to get a kid from Tennessee and bringing
them to Alabama. They're going to get a kid from
Florida's gonna lose one of these kids this year.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
You remember where Dalton came from before he went to
Tennessee one year?
Speaker 4 (17:52):
No, I don't remember the Colorado State, but that's still
a power five school.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
No, that's Colorado State's a mid major. What are you
talking about? Colorado States, Mountain West. Yes, that that's the
that's on the Mountain West. That's mid major major, No,
sec A, c C, Big ten. Those are the major,
power five.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
But that's not a mid The Mountain West is not
a mid major. Guys, So it's mid major football. Yes,
so Colorado State is major? How many of those schools
get into the playoff? What are you talking about? You
don't think they're Midwest. You know it's code us.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Agree, it's not a mid major to me, Colorado State
is not a mid major school. Really, what is a
mid major school Butler?
Speaker 6 (18:35):
Butler's a mid major school.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
By your thing, there is no mid major schools in football?
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (18:44):
Maybe, well what the mac it's what to say.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
But j you know, SEC as in the majors comparison
to the Big West isn't in the Mountain twelve.
Speaker 4 (19:01):
Now, it's since and that now, No, no, no, let's
not do this because there's been a conference realignment, So
don't do that. Don't do Oh, there's this now, just
answer the question over history and Cincinnati Big considered a
mid major.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Of course they're a mid major producing.
Speaker 6 (19:13):
Guys like Nick van Ax. That doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
Like Steph Curry went to Davidson. Is Davidson a major?
Speaker 1 (19:19):
No major?
Speaker 6 (19:21):
Though Davidson's a mid major, that's not a question.
Speaker 2 (19:23):
But if you're talking about the great players, Larry Bird
went to Indiana State mid major, all right, then do
we know that one of the greatest players.
Speaker 6 (19:31):
Colorado State is not a mid major school.
Speaker 7 (19:34):
It is Southern miss mid major school in in football.
Speaker 6 (19:37):
Yes, that's a mid major school.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
In football with Southern Brett Farve gave Brett Farket, I
got all right, all right, okay, I'm a agree to
disagree on they're gonna The.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
Bottom line is is that I agree with you as
far as big schools.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
You know, here's here's the problem right now for the ACC.
So you know a SEC has.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
One team left in the tournament after the first round,
Duke one. This us to be the conference for college basketball,
the acson that's not.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
They're not spending the money as far as the nil money.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
They're not rolling out the big bucks like the SEC
and the Big ten are. I promise you that if
if the ACC, which has always been recognized as the
college basketball conference, is going to hold on, they're going
to have to get on board with this whole idea
that if you want to keep your players, not even
developing players or recruiting players out of high school, but
(20:29):
if you want to keep your players so they don't
go somewhere else in the transfer portal, you got to
pay up.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
I think playing in the ACC is not going to
work anymore.
Speaker 6 (20:38):
No, I think they are.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
I would have to see the proof that they're not
paying to try to get players that they don't have
nil money. Every time I cut on a commercial, there's
some some player from the ACC is in a commercial.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Door.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
I saw Cadeau the guarf of Carolina in the commercial.
I'm like, wow, I didn't even know that kid had
an NIO deal to do a state vice commercial. Seed
Hju Watkins more commercials well, because I mean, she's a
bona fide super She's college basketball's biggest star right now, period,
biggest college basketballs.
Speaker 6 (21:09):
I didn't put a gender before college.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Okay, I'm gonna make a prediction right now.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Okay, we already have lunch on the whole Duke versus Alabama.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Right Uh, when we're still sitting here ten years from
now doing the show, I'm gonna tell you that your
North Carolina team not only will not have won another
national championship, they will not have won an opportunity to
get to the final four. No final force. Next ten years,
mark the words right here, right here. I got, I
got both. I'm not gonna let you do that to yourself.
Speaker 6 (21:38):
I'm not gonna let you do that. No, I'm not
gonna let you do.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
That to yourself.
Speaker 6 (21:41):
You lay want nothing, you got teammatet want nothing.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
You CLA will get to a final four? How about
that before North Carolina?
Speaker 3 (21:50):
How's that?
Speaker 4 (21:50):
No championships, championship nor carol.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
You know why because you're in an ACC that's not
spending money anymore in the UCLA All of a sudden's
in the big ten where.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
They are getting? Where's Ucla? Right now? Ucla is out? Okay,
one round further than North Carolina.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Actually, we should do that. We should have we should
have done that. Who will go further in the tournament?
North Carolina?
Speaker 4 (22:16):
Are you play the last We had to play the
first four game and know so we both played two
games and we're both home right now with our feet out.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Okay, last time UCLA was in the first four, they
went to the final four. All right, right now, let's
find out what is trending.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
Even though this is going to build into a UCLA
versus Carolina.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
College, you keep harping on Carolina like they just raise Carolina.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
I just asked you a.
Speaker 3 (22:41):
Question by Hubert Davis.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Him's a hell of a player, contributed a great final
in North Carolina.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
My first Carolina jersey I ever owned with a huge
nice So how are you man?
Speaker 6 (22:53):
Well, you know, I'm just watching this game.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
I thought it was over, like right, like ron ninety.
Speaker 8 (22:58):
Seconds when Florida kind of just got up, but Yukon it.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
I mean it should be over, but you're uncomfortable playing.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
Yukon the way he is squeezed literally every yes of
a second.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
So it's a three point game, five point nine and
the free throws good. That makes it tough.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
Also, championship teams, they lost a lot of players, but
these kids still.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
Just played back to back championship years.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
They don't know how to just mail it in down
seven or eight?
Speaker 6 (23:28):
Is zero zero zero, right, because this is what we
do here, of course.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Right, Yeah.
Speaker 8 (23:33):
I just it's like incredible how he's managed the time
and Florida missed some free throws. If he would have
missed anymore at that point, it would have gone interesting.
But now they're back up by five five seconds to go.
Uh so it looks like one seed Florida will hold
on and win, even.
Speaker 3 (23:46):
Though you just took a show.
Speaker 8 (23:50):
The three game, but a game seventy seven to seventy
five final score, one seed Florida survives after a tie
game at halftime.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Oh that was exciting.
Speaker 8 (24:01):
I don't even care who wins, all right, let's move
on to the ladies side. Right here, we got we've
got some games going on. Third seed Notre Dame all
over sixt seed Michigan. Sixty one thirty six is the
score after three quarters. Early in the second quarter, four
seed Kentucky has a twenty six to twenty one lead
over five seed Kansas State, and two seed Dukes survived
against ten seed Oregon.
Speaker 6 (24:20):
Fifty nine to fifty three.
Speaker 8 (24:23):
This is also the second round on the women's side
of things. In baseball, Oriel shortstop Gunner Henderson will begin
the season on the injured list because of a strength
muscle in his ribs that he sustained late February. And Yes,
Texas basketball has fired head coach Rodney Terry ESPN first
on the news.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Back to you guys.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Yeah, another team that made the first four and went
out in the first four and he had an elite
eight run a couple of years ago. Not good enough?
What have you done for me lately? That is the
story of college basketball with Monzee, Thanks so much. J'
checking with you a little bit later on Harbin and Husky.
Here Fox Sports Sunday, We're live from the ti iraq

Speaker 3 (25:35):
So I so rarely do well in my brackets. I'm
very excited that this year at least I am doing
extremely well and thank that Florida won that game. Wow,
what at ending of that game? There?
Speaker 2 (25:46):
You know, the final shot of the game, last second
was going off and Yukon's guy.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
Hits like a forty five footer from straightaway all net.
Dan Hurley is the real deal. I mean, he is
a phenomenal college basketball coach, but sometimes you just play
teams that have better talent. That's how the tournament wins.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
And here's the insidious thing about the NCAA tournament. We
talk about Rick Patina, Right, great year for Saint John's
first team, the first time they win the biggiest title
in twenty five years. They win the regular season title,
and then you have that one day where you guys
can't hit. You're all American, was three for seventeen shooting,
the guy literally couldn't throw a pee in the ocean,
and you end up losing the second round. And unfortunately,
(26:29):
because of the power of March madness, nobody remembers what
you did in the regular season, nobody remembers conference tournaments,
what did you do at the Big Dance? And unfortunately,
for your school like Saint John's, after a fabulous year,
it's all forgotten because boom, they had a bad day
and losing the second round of the tournament.
Speaker 3 (26:47):
And that is how it works. And we see year
after year here VJ.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Where we'll see some obscure school make a run and
immediately their coach, based on what two games a couple
of upset is pulled it into the stratosphere and gets
a choice job elsewhere.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
That is the power of March madness.
Speaker 4 (27:05):
Yeah, but really quick. On Saint John's they didn't have
a bad shooting day. If you've paid attention to the
Saint John's team, which I have all year long, they've
had games where they shot bad. They don't have a
lot of office. They don't have a lot of guys
that can go get buckets. Just go get me thirty tonight,
Go get me thirty five tonight. There's guys in the NBA,
and there's guys in college that can just go do that.
They really relied on their deefness, defense, toughness, and rebounded.
(27:27):
And yesterday they got out tough by a team. So
once you're getting out tough, so you lose that category.
Then they were getting out rebounded, so you lose that category,
and you're and you're having an off shooting night, which
you've had throughout the season, like that game over not
like I mean, look at Patino, going back to his
coaching days, a game amidens was always about.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
The three point shot. They made two. They shot nine
percent three yesternight. That's and that they lose a close game.
I mean, if you even have a half decent shooting
day thirty five percent, you know, twenty percent from the
three point line. I think Saint John's moves on. By
the way, Coach Cal.
Speaker 6 (28:03):
I don't do if Steve they didn't, they didn't, they didn't.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
I'm not gonna And that's what Coach cal Yeah. Uh,
you know so well, you know Coach Cal, Oh, look
at it.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
I I will never forget an interview I did with
coach cal after his first year at Kentucky. First year
at Kentucky when he had Boogey Cousins and John Wall.
He to they were a Kentucky team that hadn't even
made the tournament right the year before, and his first year,
they get to the Elite eate, but Bob Huggins in
West Virginia knock him out in the elite. So we
get coach cal On maybe a month after the tournament's over,
(28:35):
and I asked him. I said, coach, a lot of
people say that the Kentucky job is the toughest job
in college basketball.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
He goes, let me tell you a story.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
So I'm out with my wife, uh, maybe one of
his kids or something, out to dinner. And normally he
doesn't like to be disturbed, but as long as someone's
very you know, courteous and everything, he doesn't mind. So
he sees this guy, you know, decked out in his
Kentucky gear and he walks up and he very you know,
introduced himself and he says to coach Cal, Coach, I
(29:05):
know this was a real disappointment for you this year,
but I believe in you. I think you can get
this done. And Coach Cal's looking at this guy like,
let me get this straight. I take over a Kentucky
team that doesn't even get in the tournament. Guy, the
team with two freshmen to the Elite eight, and you're
telling me that's a fail. He goes, and that's before
(29:25):
he won a championship. That was one year into the job.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
He knew that he was in an impossible situation, and
eventually the noise was so loud against him at Kentucky
despite winning.
Speaker 2 (29:38):
Year after year after year, but no championships. After the
Anthony Davis run, he made the right move. He goes
to Arkansas that doesn't have zero look, Musselman was getting
Arkansas into the Sweet sixteen, right, Eric musselm in the
last couple of years.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
So, but it's a much better situation. For him.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
I was happy for coach cal. I'm a big Coach
Cal fan. I'm a Patino fan. But the see coach
Cal get it done, especially with that coat that he
was wearing.
Speaker 6 (30:03):
Wow, what it was that.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
I thought that was tremendous yesterday.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
No, no, both of them. Man, I love the fact
that he got the dub. I tweeted that he would
win Thursday night, and like I said, I'm at the
Laker game and I'm looking up at the screen and
he's being he's being coached self in Kansas, and I'm like, man,
we get Calipari and Patino on Saturday. Look out Saturday morning.
And I tweeted, I said, give me Arkansas. I just tweeted,
(30:28):
just simply just give me Arkansas. I just think he's
not not that he's younger, but I Calipari is right
up there with the greats. Like I don't if you're
telling me, if you're asking me who's better between him
and Patino, I think you're splitting hairs.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Well you are there. There are only two coaches splitting hairs.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Think about this, Only two coaches ever in the history
of college basketball to lead three different schools.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
Out of the final four final four, so and and
one's got one national championship, the other one's got two
national championships.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
But then that one will rescind it at at Louis Houston.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
Well that's the way I feel, but you know it's
it's now not my call, but I was. I was
happy for him. But at the same time, Saint John's
was the team that I've watched. I followed this year
because I wanted to see. It was cool that Patino
went there, took a team that had been in the
tournament twenty five years and had won a tournament game
in twenty five years, had won the Big East in
twenty something the years. To take a team like that
and in one year put his imprint, that's coaching. It's
(31:20):
the same thing I say about my man Jimmy Burger's
out here aka John Harball, Jim Harball. The fact that
he can just show up. He can show up and
take a team that just looked dead in the water
with Staley as the coach, and turned them around that fast.
And I said he'd win ten of more games, and
he won eleven of them. It's coaches matter. Coaches like
that did day you sign them your better before they
(31:42):
do their introductory press conference the day they say, I'll
do it. Your your franchise, your team, your program, your
best player, your worst player, your average everybody is better
because that guy walked in the door. That's John Calipari.
Now he and let me tell you this. You talk
about Carolina and win the championships are usual, la. I'll
(32:02):
throw this out there. Arkasas being the final four in
the next two years. Oh I, I wouldn't bet against that.
I saw the final four in the next two to
three years. They're gonna win a national championship.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
I mean there couldn't see this year. I'm not discounting
him this.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
He'll get the talent that he needs. There's plenty of
money down there. Oh yes, pig Suie is not cheap.
They won't pay for what they want to win. They
won since Nolan Richardson and Scotty Thurman and Todd Day
and Corlis Williams, and they ain't won since then.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Okay, but here here, here's the biggest selling point in
terms of coach cal Which coach has guided more guys
into the first round of the NBA. He's gonna start
so you hey, my kid's gonna be the next superstar.
You know, all these parents have these dreams for their kids, right, Well,
here's the coach. I mean, who has had more what
what coaches have more guys drafted in the first round
(32:56):
over the last twenty five years.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
When Calabar recruited my nephew and Kendill decided it was
between Carolina, Villanova and Kentucky. So it was Jay Wright,
Roy Williams and Calipari. Hall of famers, all three of
them said in my nephew's living room to recruit him.
He said, Calipari is the one that almost left with
him that night. Yeah, like Calipari almost took him with
him that night.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
Coach call knows how to sell guys.
Speaker 4 (33:18):
Say you can walk out with your kid. Yeah, he
can walk out with your kid without money or nothing.
You know, it's amazing.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
I mentioned that Boogie Cousins John Wall first year, Wall
was headed. Cousins wanted to.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Stay, yes, and cal was like, no, you gotta go,
you gotta go, you gotta leave. He's like, no, I
love it here, Matt, can't I have another year?
Speaker 2 (33:37):
I mean we came into the lead and Coach Cayle's like, no,
you're gone, You're out of here.
Speaker 6 (33:41):
But he's also told that another five star coming that
you gotta start.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
But that was the first year at Kentucky where he
made it clear to a guy like Boogie Cousins.
Speaker 3 (33:49):
No, you know, look, kid, I really appreciate what you
did this year.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
You need to go on to the NBA. All right,
We're gonna continue on. We got obviously coverage. Next game
up about to tip off. We got Duke and Bailey
are coming up in the East Region. Duke, of course
a number one seed, thirty two and three. They are
my pick to win it all. I hate Duke, but
I have them number one of my brackets.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
I got a roof for the Blue Devils.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
Of course, Baylor's got They got some championship pedigree as well,
having won the championship just four years ago. We got
all the latest for you. Keep it right here. This
is Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
Steve Harvey VJ Husky. Here, Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
We are live from the tire Rack dot Com studios.
All right, so one game in the books today, Florida
hangs on to beat Ucon. They will advance to the
Sweet sixteen. Up next, we got Duke and Baylor, so
we'll keep you updated on eight games today by days
and let's go Bai. Sweet sixteen will be set now Friday, VJ.
(34:43):
I was out at the UCLA women's game, their first
game against Southern University.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
By the way, I was sitting on the floor near
the Southern U bandow Frank, I know they were Yeah,
so I have a feeling. I'm just still shake it.
That was a loud bad and they were good.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
But anyway, the game was not competitive. I mean, and
U s LA did play that well. Southern loses. The
girls play hard, but they get blown out by thirty nine.
We have first round games of sixty point blowouts. South
Carolina Yukon wins by sixty nine points US even with
Juju Watkins going down with an injury, they hold their
(35:23):
opponent to twenty five points. Look, I got news for
the women's game out there. The idea of like copying
the men's games sixty fourteen tournament is a waste of time.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
Go back to thirty two.
Speaker 2 (35:33):
I mean, even thirty two is pushing the envelope in
terms of how many teams are actually competitive. But to
watch these girls, because I'm watching the Southern you girls,
they're playing hard and everything else. They just don't have
a chance. It was like a college team versus a
high school team. I felt bad for their girls. They
played hard, but they'd had no business on the court,
and you know, they had a nice season and everything else,
(35:55):
and you get humiliated in a game like that is
their final game of the season.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
I felt them forget. There aren't sixty four quality schools
to fell out an entire bracket on the women's side.
That is just a fact. All right now.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
I'm so glad you just said this, And this is
why I stay so steadfast on some of my opinions.
This coming from the guy that sat and ripped me
three weeks ago about adding to the men's and me
saying that, dude, I don't care about them. Teams have
no shot, so you want the women to cut down,
but you don't mind expanding the mix. Yes, fifty of
(36:31):
these teams have no shot. They have no shot to
win this tournament. We know sixty, sixty, eighteen, seventyeen. However
many it is. There are five teams that have a
legitimate shot to win the men's college basketball championship right now,
only about five or six. But they let in sixty
eight of them. And these teams have no I'm a
(36:52):
taro wait had no shot to win it this year.
Speaker 6 (36:54):
I just want to see how far we could go.
Speaker 4 (36:55):
I would hope we can get to the Sweet sixteen,
so I could talk trash and said we got to
another Sweet sixteen. But I probably on my heart we
didn't have the team. We didn't have the side. Wa
ain't got the star, waining got the guy our Ja's
time has come.
Speaker 3 (37:05):
Man.
Speaker 6 (37:06):
He ain't a tie loss and he's not a Raymond Felton.
Speaker 4 (37:08):
He's a he's a Marcus Page, he's a Kendall marsh So,
and that's fine. You could beat that at Carolina, but
you don't really have a shot the team that have
a real shot.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
So you're telling me that if you had been the
one team out, like you know, West Virginia was complaining, Okay,
North Carolina's athletic director got you in.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
As the last at large and we got left out.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
I mean, if you had been in West Virginia schools,
would you be angry or would you say, wait.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
A second, why how are they in? And not?
Speaker 6 (37:34):
USh would look at it straight.
Speaker 3 (37:36):
And we expanded, give me eight more schools. So we
we could have a shot in the back.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
Give me a Moore school. So then is seventy six,
seventy seven is gonna be mad? Seventy eight is gonna
be mad?
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Everybody's give me the right number in the men's such.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
Just keep it a sixty sixty fourth fine, well, sixty
eight fun And.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
Remember you wouldn't be in the tournament wasn't sixty eight.
Speaker 6 (37:55):
Well, then guess what then we just wouldn't be in
a tournament.
Speaker 4 (37:56):
That wouldn't hurt my feelings because I'm still we're still
six seven banners.
Speaker 6 (37:59):
Hey, we're still the biggest Brandon college basketball.
Speaker 4 (38:02):
One or two years of having down years because other
teams are having up heres does not bother college.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
College McGuire to one, and then yes and yeah mc
McGuire back in twenty are you well, your big the
guy into the history of Lenny Rosenbluth and that undefeated
fifty seven North Carolina teams a little before my time,
Chamberlain and the championship.
Speaker 4 (38:26):
Yeah, I know that, does Brown, Larry Brown and those
guys that was hard little before.
Speaker 6 (38:31):
My time, Billy Donningham.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
So for you to say let's get stay on that
stay on task, Yes, as Miss Torres and fourth grade
used to tell me stay on task, Vernon. For you
to tell me that you can expand the men, No,
the women just don't have as many.
Speaker 3 (38:46):
You can't.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
You can't have games that are deemed as NCAA tournament
games where by sixty nine.
Speaker 6 (38:54):
Vernon's got your back legs.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
Well, then you don't care.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
If you had seen the face look at the I,
I guess said, these southern you girls, they played their
hearts olid, but.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
They had they got no shot. You see the lady
play well and they won by.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
Your They got no shot. But guess what they got
to do. It's a tough way to finish this. They
got to celebrate only.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
Your conference tournament.
Speaker 6 (39:15):
But you know, you know won the conference tournament.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
We should go back to the days when you know
that David Thompson one of the greatest college basketball players
of all time, and Michael once played in the tournament. Well,
because in those days, if you didn't win the ACC tournament,
you didn't go anywhere.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
And its Michael Thompson for him to even David tom
excuse me, for him to even really be mitching in
basketball conversation, what because he didn't win enough he.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
Didn't go deep into on a national championship in nineteen
seventy four, the one time he was in the tournament.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
All right, coming out with the other side. There's actually
NFL news we have to get to. Is Aaron Rodgers
still floating out there? He is? This is Fox Sports Sunday,
rolling on here on a very.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
Busy March Madness Sunday, Fox Sports Sunday. We are broadcasting
live from the ti rack dot Com studios.
Speaker 3 (40:02):
Ty rack dot com. We're gonna get you there.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
And I'm match selection, fast free shipping, free road ass
and protection over ten thousand recommended installers tire rack dot com.
Speaker 3 (40:11):
The way tire buying should be.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
Yes, The conversation continues during the break, that's the way
it is.
Speaker 3 (40:18):
We need to put some of them behind the scenes. Well,
I mean, you know that's good stuff. You know this
is People are like, do you argue about everything? And
I'm like, yeah, that's why I'm That's why I have
an ex wife. I mean, you know, you know, you know,
you know I always said this VJ, you.
Speaker 6 (40:34):
Know, and engagement that I.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
Don't recognize that my ex wife has been a phenomenal mom.
We have three amazing children, and I give her credit
for a lot of things, but she's a type A.
I'm a type A. And so you know, when there's
no compromise, and people would always say this, somebody's got
to win. Happy wife, happy life, and I'm like, no,
happy me, happy life.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
I know I got a better one. Yeah, happy spouses,
happy houses maybe shot out in America, but happy me,
happy life. And that's not conducive to being married. And
I'm not all right.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
So okay, we talked a lot of March madness again
if you're just tuning in. Yukonn almost pulled it off,
but Florida prevailed. So Florida the Gators SEC Tournament champions.
We'll move on to the sweet sixteenth. All right, let's
get a little football.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
Going right now.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
So we are sitting here, we were sort of speculating
last week Vjay. Would we have a home for Aaron Rodgers?
Would we have a home for Russell Wilson. We have
a home for Jamis Winston. He's now a New York Giant,
although he admitted, yeah, I'm not the guy with the Giants.
I'm here as they are still circling around to figure
this out. But I'll tell you one school or one
(41:46):
team where my mind has changed from where we were
a week ago, and.
Speaker 3 (41:50):
That's the Minnesota Vikings.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
We were talking about this whole idea that are they
committed to JJ McCarthy, because they certainly were a year
ago before he got injured and then sort of threw
in Sam Darnold, who obviously had a great season until
the last couple of games. But all of a sudden,
you know, we are talking Giants, are talking Steelers as
a possible destination for Aaron Rodgers. And then last week
(42:14):
it Sara started sneaking out. Are the Vikings looking at him?
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
I don't think so at all. I think that as
far as Aaron Rodgers to the Vikings, in my opinion,
let's take that out. That doesn't mean he can't be
a Cleveland Brown or a Pittsburgh Steeler or a New
York Giant if he wants to.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
Play for a really bad team. I do believe right
now the Vikings will commit themselves to JJ McCarthy. He
will be as long as he's physically able to be
immediately their starting quarterback in Minnesota. Under the tutelage of
a young coach Kevin O'Connell, who is right now recognized
as one of the premier play callers and developers of
(42:55):
quarterbacks in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (42:57):
You're speaking a lot of French today because you keep
saying we and.
Speaker 4 (43:00):
I sat here last week and said that I would
not I falls Minnesota, I would not even entertain bringing
in Aaron Rodgers. Now you don't want that. JJ McCarthy's
the guy. There's a reason why they traded up in
the draft to get him, because Sean Payton wanted them,
and they knew Sean Payton wanted them at thirteen and
they were gonna try to jump them.
Speaker 6 (43:20):
The jet slid back one.
Speaker 4 (43:22):
They moved up one because that's the guy they wanted,
and we bumped heads on. I keep telling people he
did when he was asked to do it, Michigan, hand
the ball off, don't turn the ball over, make smart plays,
and when you gotta be great, and you gotta be
you gotta be great, go be great.
Speaker 6 (43:37):
And he did it every single time.
Speaker 3 (43:39):
In Alabama Gas every game he was asked to do it,
every time, many games against Well.
Speaker 4 (43:46):
I mean, that's what happens when you have a good
football team. But when he's asked to do it. He
did it eager going into.
Speaker 6 (43:52):
The regular season.
Speaker 3 (43:53):
Last year.
Speaker 6 (43:53):
You could see in the preseason he was.
Speaker 4 (43:56):
Taking that role over Sam Darnold's ass was gonna be
on the bitch, and then he has the injury, so
he I don't know if he would have did what
San Donald did. I don't know if the record would
have been the same.
Speaker 6 (44:06):
They weren't.
Speaker 3 (44:07):
They weren't gonna be.
Speaker 6 (44:08):
They weren't gonna be four and thirteen with him as
the quarterback.
Speaker 4 (44:10):
JJ McCarthy I've been saying from the jump he's an
NFL starting quarterback for the next decade.
Speaker 3 (44:15):
He will be.
Speaker 4 (44:16):
This whole idea about Aaron Rodgers going there is foolish.
You don't want that you drafted this kid. From all
accounts of stuff that I've been hearing, he's ready to roll.
The knee is getting better, the therapy's gone well, the
rehab's gone well. He's stayed at the facility at the
campus there.
Speaker 6 (44:31):
They put a room up for him. Film film film
film film.
Speaker 4 (44:34):
Reab reab reab rehab, his kids ready to go, and
I think they're making the right decision. But I don't
think Steve. I don't think it was a decision to
be made. I just think that was a story thrown out.
Speaker 2 (44:44):
Well, it might have been because obviously a lot of
people are saying, what's the hold up here? I mean,
Pittsburgh would seem to be an obvious destination for an
Aaron Rodgers. It's a playoff caliber team. You know, they've
added to the receiving corps. It looks actually better than
it has.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
Last I'm not taking the Giants off the board, but
I just don't see why he Well, I am in
the terms of where are we going with that? Right?
Speaker 2 (45:10):
I mean, you know, look, I'll be honest with you again.
I watched that Enigma thing one more time. I'm watching
this enigma documentary, the self serving documentary of Aaron Rodgers
through and I'm saying to myself, Okay, basically, he is
saying I'm an enigma, and I'm like, you are anything
but an enigma. You are the easiest read of any
person I've ever seen. I mean, you're not an enigma.
(45:32):
You're a completely self serving individual. If you think, wow,
I just march to a different tune. No, you're an
easy read.
Speaker 3 (45:39):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
Anybody that has watched you put yourself out there time
and time again. Obviously knows what you're all about. You're
about you, You're about me in a teen sport. I'm
telling you right now, if I'm the Steelers, I'm the Giants,
I'm the Browns. I'm telling Aaron Rodgers, thanks.
Speaker 3 (45:55):
But no thanks.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
And by the way, Russell Wilson isn't that far behind
another self serving individual. There's a reason why he's been
on three teams in three years. I let these two guys,
you've made enough money to last multiple lifetimes going to retirement.
Aaron Rodgers your first ballot Hall of Famer, Russell Wilson,
he'll probably put you in as well.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
But it is over. I'm not wasting my time any
of these teams on an Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson.
But I've always been on this. I've always been on
this since free agency, since the Jets decide.
Speaker 4 (46:27):
We knew the ending was coming two weeks ago and
we were sitting here talking about at kaplan. It does
a great job, knows this stuff, been doing this for years.
Not going at him, but just whole thing of he's
gonna be a giant. I sat ray here said, no,
he's not that does it it doesn't make sense when
you had to get rid of Daniel Jones.
Speaker 6 (46:45):
You have to reset this thing.
Speaker 4 (46:46):
You have a young superstar in the budding receiver in
elite neighbors that kids are superstar. It's buddy, he's not
there yet, but he needs somebody to be able to
get on the ball. And you guys got to replace
Saquon Barkley. The defense is good, the offensive line is
getting better. You got yourself, Brian.
Speaker 6 (47:01):
Dabondage fired just yet.
Speaker 4 (47:02):
You've made some other moves, but you want to give
this guy a shot because you think he could beat
a quarterback whisper because he did res the record kind
of show us what Josh Allen is when he was
up there's the OFFENSEI coordator to the quarterback coach.
Speaker 6 (47:11):
They're up in Buffalo in or Trab Park.
Speaker 4 (47:13):
So now, sitting at number three, I'm going to stand
fast on this.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
WOA whoa, whoa, whoa whoa Hold.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
Down for a second. All right, now, I'm gonna start
buying into what you've been feeding me. Okay, all right,
this whole thing about camboard and Shader Sanders, because again
we see this time and time again where.
Speaker 3 (47:29):
You're like, ah, they're not that good.
Speaker 2 (47:31):
You sit back, they'll fall and then all of a sudden,
if you don't address the quarterback situation during free agency,
you push the panic button. And so the Giants sitting
at three behind the Titans and the Browns. Do the Giants,
if indeed that is their mindset, now, we will get
our quarterback in this draft. We'll have Jameis Winston as
(47:52):
a stopgat guy until our kids ready. Are you counting
that one of those two quarterbacks is going to be
in the top three or or do you say, like
we better move him to the top two or try
to move up to number one.
Speaker 4 (48:06):
I got a text message Friday morning from a guy
like and I trust the lite that's actually mentored me
in this business, not going can give his name out there,
who text me said, I've been listening to you on Sundays, man,
and I'm with you on this schadure and cam thing.
Speaker 6 (48:19):
He said, but I don't think the Giants can sit
it three.
Speaker 3 (48:23):
See what I'm saying he told me, He.
Speaker 4 (48:24):
Goes, I don't think the Giants can sit it three
because if if Tennessee is dead set on using just
will or still your guy that was on with us
said that Nashville is where Aaron Rodgers lived. That could
be a that's the Tennessee could be a destination from.
If that's what Tennessee decides, the dude, then you don't
have to sit at number one. If I'm doing Carter's
what you're looking at. Because the giants are now scared
(48:46):
into Okay, we might gotta go to one, not two,
because I still stand fast on this. If I'm Cleveland,
I stand pat because you're getting one. You have the
choice of who doesn't take the first one, right. But
in Tennessee, you think there's a big different.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
Between Cammoret and Shader Sanders.
Speaker 4 (49:02):
Because it's gonna depend on what you have around him
and stuff. But I just think Schadoor being that it's
in his DNA, he just has it.
Speaker 3 (49:09):
He just doesn't no. I know this.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
I was in San Diego and it was one, A,
one B between Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf. The Chargers,
by the way, gave up a mint to move up
one slot from three to two to get themselves a
guy they thought was the guy Ryan Leaf instead of
Peyton Manning.
Speaker 6 (49:23):
And we know how we've had all the tools with
Ryan Leaf. It was between the ears.
Speaker 3 (49:27):
Well, they all the tools you need to know that.
Speaker 2 (49:29):
Bobby Bether, the Hall of Fame general manager, I had
to talk to him a lot of times. I go,
we found out so much stuff about this guy and
you didn't know.
Speaker 4 (49:37):
But you're not going to be the case of Shador. Okay,
that's the thing. You know everything you need to know
about this kid. Now what doing you also know about him?
Speaker 3 (49:44):
He's been groomed to play in the NFL, He's been
groomed to take criticism, He's been groomed for the day
to day grind.
Speaker 6 (49:50):
There's nothing that's gonna gonna be.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
Over a microscope on like very few just because he
is the son.
Speaker 3 (49:57):
Of Deanest I guess that was yeah, but his dad
was a different era. We don't live in nineteen eighty eight.
You know.
Speaker 2 (50:04):
This is a different era for a young man, and
so unlike a lot of these very you know.
Speaker 4 (50:09):
I'm trying to his father, though I am. I'm trusting
his dad that he's got him ready.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
Well and Shardor. This is again why I was critical
about Shudor even talking at all. You don't have to
hype up yourself because you're Dion Sun. There's gonna be
plenty of hype. All right.
Speaker 2 (50:22):
You're gonna be a target from day one because you
are the son of prime and you don't need to
add to that. That's why this kid has been in
the spotlight forever. I agree with it's not going to
be too big for him, but the pressure on him
trying to deliver immediately.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
All right. So again, let's get back to this whole
thing about the giants. So you agree with me that.
Speaker 4 (50:46):
They may have to actually move is done Aaron Rodgers,
And I said it three two weeks ago. However long,
he will not be wearing a giant. The giants just
saw up close and personal. You shared a building. You
don't think that those people talk, you know, some of
the front all you know things.
Speaker 3 (51:03):
Some employees, you know, trust, they say that the whole.
Speaker 4 (51:07):
Hey, hey, when we talk about trust on set, what
I said, yes.
Speaker 6 (51:10):
On on Friday? Trust, right, you had to trust.
Speaker 3 (51:12):
But I'm gonna talking lady up to a dress.
Speaker 4 (51:15):
Yeah, I listen. I think I honestly think it's it's done.
Aaron rod Even Pittsburgh, he visited Pittsburgh. This was Thursday
or Friday. He visited Pittsburgh. Guess what guess what hasn't
happened yet?
Speaker 3 (51:26):
A deal?
Speaker 4 (51:27):
A deal if it was gonna happen you you've been
doing this longer than me.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
By the way, you heard where Pittsburgh sat down with
Jalen Milroe, right, thank you? Now that they're not taking
Jaln Milroe in the first round, no, well chance, but
they're just basically throwing it out to Aaron Rodgers. Look,
you know, we can't sit around and wait for you.
You know, if it's not gonna be you, we're talking
to other kids. Maybe we got a quarterback of the
future in Jalen.
Speaker 4 (51:51):
Mill The Pittsburgh Steelers might have to hit a little
bit of an offensive reset button too, because.
Speaker 6 (51:54):
They lost Naje Harris to the Chargers. Was that they
just lost it?
Speaker 9 (51:58):
Right?
Speaker 3 (51:58):
Think about this? Kudos did him? Horriball?
Speaker 2 (52:00):
How about this Kodles to the harbor? Well, I mean
it's unbelievable. Harris started sixty eight straight games a.
Speaker 6 (52:06):
Thousand yards every year since he's been in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (52:08):
Novteen, seventeen, seventeen seventy all starts, all starts, but he
only evers three point nine yards to carry. He's not
a breakaway, but he runs better line out he is,
he is a horrball back. Better line out here. Yeah,
but again under line in so far you know again
you got Dobbins. Was a miracle season to get what
you got out of the matching off of Justin Herbert.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
But we need a guy that could carry the load.
Twenty carries a game cat. Harris can do that catch
out of the back fill, he runs hard.
Speaker 3 (52:33):
What did this? What happened there?
Speaker 9 (52:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (52:35):
They let They didn't want to. They didn't want fields
get out the door.
Speaker 2 (52:38):
Well I know, but they didn't want to give him
that second contract. That's basically what it came down to
with the Steelers.
Speaker 3 (52:43):
They didn't win, and you're gonna reset with Aaron Rodgers.
Half fun, half fun Pittsburgh.
Speaker 6 (52:48):
But you know what they can always do though. They
can muck up a season.
Speaker 4 (52:52):
They can win some defensive they're gonna win some fifteen
thirteen games. They'll win twelve and they'll be nine to eight.
They will because they that's just who they are. They
still can put tj on one side and.
Speaker 6 (53:02):
Go get seventeen sacts.
Speaker 4 (53:03):
Right, you still got some, you know, but it's not
gonna win you a playoff game.
Speaker 2 (53:07):
All right, There are other names out there still floating
around that we are going to get to in this
quarterback carousel that we have on an annual basis around
this time in the National Football League. This is Fox
Sports Sunday, Harvin and Husky. Here Fox Sports Sunday. We
are a love from the tirerak dot Com studios. Hey
Tractor Supply knows that a winning season takes practice, teamworking.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
It can do attitude.
Speaker 2 (53:29):
Thankfully, when you have a neighbor like Tractor Supply, teamwork
comes easy. Whether you came for pets, chickens or a
few acres, our team members will help you succeed season
after season. Tractors Supply for life out here and be
sure to check out the Tractors Supply Fox Sports Radio
Bracket challenge at Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (53:47):
See how our hosts are doing.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
Yes, I'm in first place with picks and who the
top ranked listeners are as well. The listener with the
best bracket at Fox Sports Radio will win a twenty
five hundred dollars gift card two Tractor Supply.
Speaker 3 (54:01):
I don't know how long my miracle run is going
to hold up. I have very little faith based on
my track record over the years but it's not there.
I'm going to I'm gonna crawl about it. You got game.
Speaker 4 (54:13):
I have do winning it. I have Duke all the way.
Oh yeah, I hope. I can't wait for them to
lose and then your bracket crumbled.
Speaker 2 (54:20):
Well that's it. I mean, obviously, if Duke goes down,
I'm done. You know, you gotta have the winner. You
can't win a bracket without the winner.
Speaker 4 (54:26):
I grew up. We don't even I grew up being tall.
You don't even spell it correctly. That's how much we exactly.
Speaker 3 (54:31):
Oh, of course, North Carol.
Speaker 2 (54:32):
You see that commercial, the one where the kid walks
through the door and the Duke outfit and the whole
family's all tar Hills, Zack.
Speaker 3 (54:40):
They just slammed the door. Getting back to the NFL. Yes,
kirk Cousins.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
So the kirk Cousins thing is still out there. As
you know, Atlanta kept him. I mean, there was some
speculation because again it seems like they've moved on to
Michael Pennix, that he will be their quarterback moving forward. Yeah,
but you know they the reason they held on to
him and handing him an additional ten million dollars, they're
already on the for twenty seven million.
Speaker 3 (55:08):
Is the real possibility they could get some trade value
for Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 2 (55:15):
I don't look at Kirk Cousins the same way I
look at an Aaron Rodgers or a Russell Wilson.
Speaker 3 (55:20):
My question with him is is he healthy?
Speaker 2 (55:23):
Because even though he had that one five hundred yard
passing day against the Bucks last year, there were games
the game he had against the Chargers.
Speaker 3 (55:30):
Wow, the awful in that game.
Speaker 2 (55:33):
I mean literally could not make throws that should literally
be routine for a guy of his caliber. So do
you think with these teams still scrambling it's like musical
chairs out there, somebody's gonna be left out without a quarterback?
Do you think that some team is eventually gonna call
Atlanta and saying, all right, what you're asking price for
Kirk Cousins And would.
Speaker 3 (55:54):
You do it? Uh?
Speaker 4 (55:55):
Yeah, I'd do it as a backup. I don't know
what I do as a starter. So this is what
I'm gonna do. There's a few teams have signed some
quarterbacks that I question marks about. I'll start with my
Miami Dolphins. Do Zach Wilson sign? And I hate it
because I don't think the get can play. I could
see them getting through OTA's maybe getting through a little
bit of early training camp and then saying, okay, yeah
this this was this is a mistake.
Speaker 3 (56:17):
I agree with you on that. I think we've seen
enough of him to determine that he do it. But
I mean nothing, really, I.
Speaker 4 (56:25):
Know, it doesn't matter if it cost anything, if something
happens to Oos and OOS goes down, he's the guy.
Speaker 3 (56:29):
How many teams in this league right now, out of
thirty two do you believe have an absolute plug in
backup quarterback that can do right? That's my point.
Speaker 4 (56:38):
I know, but Kirk, But Kirk could change that because
Kurt's a starter. But I know you don't bring him
in the start. You bring him in. Just finish my
point with Miami really fast. This is I could see
them getting you know, maybe towards training camp or even
through training camp, is seeing this guy. I hope he
goes out and plays three corps. I hope Mike McDaniel
gives them three full corps in the preseason game and
he's thinks it up and it is okay, we you know,
we tried it. We'll cut. Kurt's still good. Kurt's gonna
(56:59):
be available. I believe probably until training camp starts.
Speaker 3 (57:03):
He's got it.
Speaker 4 (57:03):
Pass the physical, He's exactly that's the thing. He's gonna
be available to late July, early August. I can see
a team looking at one of these mistakes. So look
at the backups that have kind of been signed right now.
Jameis Winston is now in New York Giants.
Speaker 3 (57:15):
I believe he's the plug in play guy now and
they're taking a quarterback with one of the first three
picks where they move up. It's always frustrating with Winston.
I have been a believer in Jameis Winston, famous Jamis Babe,
from the.
Speaker 2 (57:26):
Very beginning when he came out, and you know, you know,
obviously he and Mariota.
Speaker 3 (57:30):
Mariota came out in the same drafting everything else.
Speaker 2 (57:33):
I've always been a Winston fan because when you look
at that one year in Tampa where he had the
thirty interceptions but also had thirty three touchdown up and
over five.
Speaker 3 (57:41):
Thousand yards pass.
Speaker 2 (57:42):
Oh, he could slink it. I mean, but it was
unbelieva could slink it. He threw like seven pick sixes
that year. But he can throw the football. I still
haven't given up on Winston. How put it this way,
he's better than DeVito?
Speaker 4 (57:53):
Right, yeah, absolutely, And see there's another guy there also
to Jacoby Brissett signed with the Cardinals. Okay, I got
some question marks what the Cardinals need to do even
moving forward, Kalla Murray, because you're giving them the extra
extension and the big deal, but the team isn't winning.
You have to You're gonna have to make a decision
at some point. Are we gonna stick with this? Are
we just gonna be mediocre because we're paying our quarterback?
(58:13):
A guy like Flacco is still out there.
Speaker 3 (58:16):
H Even mac.
Speaker 4 (58:16):
Jones is taking the backup Spider San Francisco. So that's
spot and he'll make the team. He's gonna be the
backup there. So that spot's gone. So when you're talking
about Kirk Cousins, I'm thinking it's gonna be a team
that realizes they might have made a mistake on their
backup signing. The guy just doesn't show you in OTAs,
doesn't show you in mini camp, doesn't show you in
training camp or preseason, and you cut.
Speaker 6 (58:36):
The guy and you eat whatever little money that you
spent on.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
Let's get back to when we were talking about the
Steelers and these other teams still looking for that quarterback.
Speaker 3 (58:44):
Let's just use the Steelers, all right. I'm gonna give
you three options. For the Steelers.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
Well, one, we're gonna Eliminade obviously because they're not gonna
bring Russell Wilson back. But I'll give you two options,
all right, you sign Aaron Rodgers, or you make a
tray to get Kirk Cussins.
Speaker 4 (58:57):
Kirk Cousins. I'm with you, Kirk Cousins. It's not even
a thought, it's not even a question to me. It's
Kirk Cousins. It's Kirk cut Listen, yeah, kurts physically, k
That's fine. Kurt's had bad moments, guys, but what quarterback hasn't.
But you know what else Kurt's been able to really
do for the last decade, be a ten plus win
quarterback and get to the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (59:16):
Let's just call it fact over feelings.
Speaker 4 (59:18):
However you feel about him, put aside, put the tape on,
and put the records on, and just show me what
Kurk Cousins has done over the last ten years of
his career. He keeps winning nine, ten to eleven games
and taking his team to the playoffs. He's not on
teams that are winning four and five games, and it's
because of.
Speaker 2 (59:33):
Him, and you're not bringing in the excess baggage that
you're not automatically going to get.
Speaker 6 (59:38):
If you watch Quarterback the netflick, he is a family man.
Speaker 4 (59:41):
That man, no dupall park, wife, kids, football, God, that's him.
That's what you that's what you're if you're the Steelers.
I think you need that right now. I don't think
you need again. Let's get back to darkness retreat. Mike
Tomlin has got a ticket in Campton. We know that
one of the greatest coaches in the history.
Speaker 3 (59:59):
They have won a play poff game in Forever Jacksonville.
It was seven years ago or something like that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
I mean, so, you know, the bottom line is, as
as much as the Steelers always stand by their man,
they've had three coaches since nineteen sixty nine. As I say,
Tomlin's actually had a better resume than Bill Cowers already
in the Hall of Fame. At some point you're like, look, Mike,
we we can't just you know, you know, crawl into
the playoffs and won and done. At some point we've
(01:00:27):
got to take it to the next level because we
are the Pittsburgh Steelers. We have six Super Bowl championships.
That's tied for the most of any franchise in NFL history.
Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
We do have a standard in Pittsburgh. Sorry, Michael, you
think they're gonna let it. By the way, they did
this with Chuck Noll. Chuck Noll went on for twenty
years after, you know, fifteen years after.
Speaker 6 (01:00:47):
The one that last seventies, right, so you know, same
with Coward.
Speaker 3 (01:00:50):
Cower, Well, Cower one cow one late.
Speaker 4 (01:00:53):
Remember he catch one? He did catch that one late.
And then but then wasn't a coward that guy? Or
was it Tomlin that gout? His ass had going by
the Packers? Well, that was that coward or Tomlin?
Speaker 3 (01:01:02):
No, no, that was coward, that was right, No, no, no,
that was Caro went out.
Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
He won this game against Seattle, right, and then Tomlin
took over, won the Super Bowl and then lost to.
Speaker 3 (01:01:13):
The coward and Dallas Bettis both went out on top. Right,
all right, all right, on.
Speaker 2 (01:01:19):
The other side, we're going to talk about one of
the greatest legends I'm just going to say in sports history,
because indeed he was that.
Speaker 3 (01:01:26):
But first, but first, let's find out what is trending
right now. Monte is back.
Speaker 9 (01:01:31):
I am back.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
So you know, when you have the first couple of
days when you have like three or four games going
on simultaneously.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Like, we're off to a slow start here. We had
one game, yes, and then there was like when does
the second game start?
Speaker 8 (01:01:43):
Yes, and it is the second game has started. But
it is a very different feel from the start of
the tournament.
Speaker 10 (01:01:48):
For sure.
Speaker 8 (01:01:49):
Uh feel slow, but it's okay, It's all right.
Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
At least.
Speaker 8 (01:01:51):
The first one was a thriller. One seed Florida against
eight seed Yukon. Yukon trying to three peat. Nope, they
just got knocked off by the Gators, but it went
down to the wire. Florida survives it, seventy seven to
seventy five. This was the huskies first loss in March
Madness since twenty twenty two. Texas has informed headman's basketball
and coach Rodney Terry that he's been fired. The team
(01:02:12):
lost to Xavier in the first four on Wednesday, eighty
six to eighty. We've got one game going on right
now still, you know, into the first half, halfway through
the first half. But nine seed Baylor has a twenty
to eighteen lead over one seed Duke, who you have
winning the whole thing.
Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
Yeah, that would ruin me. I would I'd be going
from first to last immediately.
Speaker 8 (01:02:32):
You having a perfect day one is ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (01:02:35):
I've only lost four games in this tournament so far,
which has been unreal.
Speaker 8 (01:02:39):
I had a big upset in the first round. I
had high Point beating Purdue.
Speaker 9 (01:02:44):
You weren't a.
Speaker 3 (01:02:45):
Lot a lot of people were taking there, you weren't alone.
And now there were people on those bracketology shows that
were picking high Point.
Speaker 8 (01:02:50):
To beat Heather, And that's kind of where my thing
just you know, just lost it, just lost it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:56):
It just lost it.
Speaker 6 (01:02:58):
I was like, oh, man, if.
Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
You're Cinderella, doesn't win the win when you picked them
because you get you get thirsty, you know what, Yes,
and then they can probably beat this team.
Speaker 6 (01:03:08):
Now you have them in the sweet sixteen.
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
And I don't think I had him that far. But
it did derail, Like you just.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
Tew what happened in Honestly, it's been the last three
or four years that I gave up trying to guess
on the upsets, right, So I thought, you know what,
I'm gonna go more favorite. Yes, didn't really work. That well,
but this year it's been pure magic.
Speaker 8 (01:03:27):
And yeah, there haven't been a lot of upsets or
even a Cinderella story like there really hasn't been on
the women's side. It's also the second round, six minutes
to go in the game between five seed Kansas State
and four seed Kentucky, who is up fifty eight to
fifty seven. Early in the second quarter. One seed South
Carolina is losing at home to nine seed Indiana fifteen
to nine.
Speaker 6 (01:03:47):
But again early in the second quarter, two seed Duke on.
Speaker 8 (01:03:50):
The women's side did defeat ten seed Oregon fifty nine
to fifty three. And in baseball, Gunner Henderson Oil shortstop,
he's gonna start the season on the injured list. He
has a strained muscle in his ris is that he
suffered in late February. So that's unfortunate.
Speaker 3 (01:04:04):
That is not good. No, but it's long season, long season,
a lot of big baseball injuries. Though this year he's
that way. Garrett Cole's done for the year. Tommy John
like it like there.
Speaker 6 (01:04:15):
Now it seems that way, I feel like I cut.
Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
On ESPN dot com, there's another hellline of another baseball
player's weeks twelve weeks by b Yeah, yeah, you're not
wrong much. What is up with Mookie Bets he was sick.
Speaker 2 (01:04:27):
I know he was sick, but they said he lost
like fifteen hours I have I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:04:32):
I haven't seen him.
Speaker 8 (01:04:33):
That's crazy, but I think he had like the flu
and he probably didn't eat anything.
Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
You guys, imagine being being in a country.
Speaker 6 (01:04:40):
I don't want to eat, like you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (01:04:41):
Real talk, that's real talk.
Speaker 8 (01:04:43):
And I bet you he probably didn't have an appetite.
Speaker 6 (01:04:45):
Order a burger, but the ain't a burger from La.
Speaker 8 (01:04:47):
It's not a burger, and it's a very different Burden
is a very different.
Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
Murders, a lean and mean guy.
Speaker 6 (01:04:53):
Fifteen pounds on Mookie. Yes, actually it's not.
Speaker 8 (01:04:56):
True because that seems like that would be a.
Speaker 3 (01:04:58):
Lot for that would be a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:05:00):
So he may not be one hundred percent for the
start of the restart of the regular season.
Speaker 3 (01:05:07):
Start just the restart, all right, Monzie.
Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
Thanks, we'll talk to you a little bit later on once again,

Speaker 2 (01:05:34):
It's very sad story this week, the passing of really
one of the sports great legends, not just because of
what he did in his sport, but what he.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
Really did afterwards. Meanwhile, we do have some breaking news right.
Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
Now, breaking news from Fox Sports.
Speaker 10 (01:05:53):
Yes, according to multiple reports, first reported by Cedric Golden,
who is an Austin American Statesman columnist, but now it
is being reported by other people that Sean Miller will.
Speaker 8 (01:06:04):
Be the new head coach at Texas who just fired
Rodney Terry.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
So Sean Miller is not had a lot of success
obviously back in the day, you know, just beating Texas
I think, right, right right.
Speaker 3 (01:06:17):
So he's taking over. Yeah, he's been all over the place.
He's never been to a final.
Speaker 4 (01:06:24):
Yeah, that's personal. There's a story there. God, that's Petty Murphy. Yeah,
that's petty white stuff right there.
Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
That's a story there, all right. So that's that's a
big one though, Texas going with Sean Miller had multiple opportunities,
including returning to his school. So we'll see what he
does now, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:06:41):
Yeah, it was a very sad story to hear about
the passing of George Foreman, who you know, not obviously
one of the great heavyweight champions of all time with
two very distinct careers as a heavyweight fighter, but then
all the success he had as a businessman as a personality. Vej,
I know you want to share a story about your
conversation with George. I actually I want to sare a
(01:07:03):
story here, not about an interview. I had the good
opportunity to meet George several times and sit down with him,
and he was exactly like he would think he was.
I mean, he was a very nice man, great to
talk to, very entertaining. But it goes back to the
night that he upset Michael Moore to regain the heavyweight
championship at the age of forty five. So my radio
station at the time we had a viewing party this
(01:07:24):
is nineteen ninety four at a place called the Draft
Choice Sports Grill in Laguna Neguel and one of our
guests to be there. We were advertising for listeners to
come down. Was one of the all time boxing legends,
the late great Ken Norton, who I of course, got
destroyed by George Foreman the first time George was the
heavyweight champion. Ken Norton got knocked out in the second round.
(01:07:46):
So Norton, who had suffered a mild stroke not long before,
he came down.
Speaker 3 (01:07:50):
So you know, Ken was not one hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
But I was sitting next to him as we're watching
this fight and not a lot was going on. You know,
Michael Moore had just beaten Holyfield.
Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
I mean there was no.
Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
Doubt that everyone thought, Okay, you know, Foreman had lost
a holy Field, he had lost to Tommy Morris, and
he's not gonna beat Michael Moore.
Speaker 3 (01:08:07):
Who was undefeated.
Speaker 2 (01:08:08):
And I'm sitting there and I'm telling you this is
exactly what happened VJs. So Ken Norton is sitting to
my right and we're watching this fight. Not a lot
of action going on, you know, because George is moving
like a glacier and Ken looks at me and he goes,
if Moore continues to stand directly in front of him,
he is going to get knocked out.
Speaker 3 (01:08:27):
Yep. And I mean it was in.
Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
Thirty seconds later, boom down he goes. They count to ten,
and at age forty five, George Forman becomes the oldest
heavyweight champion of all time. So that that is my
greatest memory of the great Ken Norton sitting literally next
to me watching that fight, telling me if if he
could get he's a stand directly in front of him,
he is going to get knocked out.
Speaker 3 (01:08:50):
And that's exactly what happened.
Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
Ye, my great George Foreman story is first of all,
my stepdad Glenn put me onto George for mean.
Speaker 3 (01:08:57):
He used to make me watch Oh you'll remember this
old Beta Max before VHSH.
Speaker 4 (01:09:03):
He had stacks of him, a Foreman, Fraser and Ali
Like my stepdad put me on the sports. My stepdad's
the one who talked me about Jim Brown, right, I'm
talking about Barry Sanders and and miss Smith. He's on
the couch behind his drinking and a beer like, yeah,
y'all don't know nothing about no Jim Brown.
Speaker 3 (01:09:17):
And we turned around, We're like, who's Jim Brown? Did
he introduce you to Wilt Chamberlain as well? Yes? Yes, yeah, nah.
Speaker 4 (01:09:21):
He put us onto all the old school guys and
That's why I'm in history anyway.
Speaker 6 (01:09:25):
Yeah, I'm watching this big guy.
Speaker 4 (01:09:26):
He was like, you know, Ali was his favorite, but
he said, yeah, man, but I was scared for form.
I was scared for Ali when he when he fall Forman,
I'm going, who's George for me? He goes, he puts
the beta maxline and he puts his tape on it.
Speaker 3 (01:09:36):
This guy.
Speaker 4 (01:09:36):
And at this time, I'm like eight, i'mout eight nine
years old and I'm watching just this big guy who
wasn't fast. Wasn't he didn't bounce around like Ali did it.
He was very stoic, very you know, he had a
little movement to him, but he would punch your face
off if he connected.
Speaker 3 (01:09:52):
And he was just a monster of a man.
Speaker 4 (01:09:55):
Do you hear the stories about how he would rip
open heavy bags short training sessions and this is when
they were made of canvas, before they were made of leather.
Speaker 6 (01:10:03):
And then re you know, restructured it. He would rip
those open.
Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
Remember in the fight against Fraser, one of those six knockdouts,
he literally lifted him off the ground.
Speaker 4 (01:10:12):
Yeah, lifting them off the ground like he's broken jaws.
I mean, he just his power. But like you said
then to come back. And then in nineteen ninety four,
I'm in the tenth grade fight party.
Speaker 6 (01:10:23):
My dad ordered to fight. We're saying the fight.
Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
Everybody in the house is going for George Foreman, because
it's all my dad and all his friends, and my
mom and all her army buddies come over the house
and their kids. We're all going for Geordan. No one's
going for Michael Moore. And we liked Michael Moore, but
we weren't going for him that night. And for George
to knock him out. When I had an interview radio
a chance to interview him at Fox Sports Radio, he
just said, just as nice and it's cordial, and it
is soft, and it's just a gentleman. And when I
(01:10:46):
asked him the greatest fighter not named Ali or George Foreman,
without hesitation, he said, oh man, that's that's Mike Tyson.
I said, really, He said, VJ. Let me tell you something.
You get in the ring with that man, he goes
back in those days. You look across the ring, that's
that was like something out of a nightmare. Oh yeah,
that guy was like something he defeated more of But
(01:11:07):
to hear Foreman say that about Tyson when you've seen
people dog Tyson, they talk bad about Tyson. For Foreman,
the soft gentleminess, George Foreman say that about Tyson. The
last point, when I watched when we were still with Kings,
the documentary of Zayre the fight, I didn't know that
he had gotten hurt. And they delayed that fight for
like two months but made them stay out there. They
weren't allowed to fly back to America. So it kind
(01:11:29):
of threw everything kind of off as far as.
Speaker 6 (01:11:33):
Foreman's campbell say.
Speaker 4 (01:11:34):
But just even that action that night, just how cool
he was in the seventies. He used to rock the
apple caps with the butterfly collar color.
Speaker 9 (01:11:42):
For sure.
Speaker 6 (01:11:42):
He just every era, you know, he just transcended himself.
Speaker 3 (01:11:46):
Here.
Speaker 2 (01:11:46):
Here's the thing about that fight. So I'm in high school,
you know, at that time for that fight, and to
really give you the at moment thoughts about all these
chances against.
Speaker 3 (01:11:57):
Were zero zero zero.
Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
He had already lost to this obscure fighter at the time,
Ken Norton, And so it was like, all right, Ali,
the ollie that we saw pre being out for three years,
we'll never see that again, Fraser beating him.
Speaker 3 (01:12:12):
Ken Norton had beaten him.
Speaker 2 (01:12:13):
Now you're going against this killer who literally knocked Norton
out of the ring after knocking out Joe Fraser. So
and of course we you had that was pay for you.
I didn't have money, so you know when the fight happened.
Then we saw the replay of the fight. The thing
about Ali is and unfortunately it did damage. I mean,
we know the Parkinson's and everything else, but his ability
to take punches, the left hook that Fraser put him
(01:12:36):
down in that fifteenth round of Madison Squad. Nobody gets
up from that patch, but he did and finished that fight.
Speaker 3 (01:12:44):
Joe, Well, yeah, I mean it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
But you know, Fraser was actually in the hospital longer
than all he was after the first But when you
watch that fight, uh, and the punishment that Ali took
with the rope of dope and and at it, you know,
I've I was exhausted him.
Speaker 3 (01:13:02):
He could have blown on me. I was going to
go down in that eighth round. I literally was out
of gas.
Speaker 2 (01:13:08):
And as you mentioned, and he saw that documentary, he
wasn't one hundred percent healthy either going into that fight.
But you know, and then the whole thing, George would
lose a fight to Jimmy Young and that ended his
first run as heavyweight, but for him to come back
nine years later, restarted his career after being away from
the sport, and eventually that knockout against Michael Moore to
regain the heavyweight championship.
Speaker 3 (01:13:29):
And then, of course, you know, with the.
Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
Former grill form and grill and everything else, this guy
became a zillionaire.
Speaker 3 (01:13:35):
The fun thing about you know, he had twelve children.
Speaker 2 (01:13:38):
He named all of his boys George, all the boys
from George the second to the sixth.
Speaker 3 (01:13:43):
And I think his reasoning.
Speaker 2 (01:13:45):
I asked him in person about that, and his reasoning
was very sound. At least it sounded to me like,
you know, you sort of pick up your other brother.
It's a reminder that we're all like the same type
of thing.
Speaker 3 (01:13:56):
Now, he did not give his daughters all the same game,
thank god for that, and a lot of them have
been extremely successful. A couple got into boxing. But he
was a credit to his sport.
Speaker 2 (01:14:07):
I remember when he won the gold medal in Mexico
City waving the American flag, so proud of it, representing
absolutely and missus. When he had John Carlos and Tommy
Smith and all this, and you know, he got some
flak from the African American community for waving the flag
during those Olympic Games.
Speaker 4 (01:14:24):
Remember going into the Ali fight. That was the difference
of them was very pro Black, very poor against this
that and George was, hey, I'm almost like, oh Jay,
but not in that. But hey, I'm George Foreman. I'm
just I'm a human being.
Speaker 6 (01:14:37):
I'm not this.
Speaker 4 (01:14:37):
I'm I'm juste formid. That was another thing about those
two guys. They were very vastly different. By the way,
never gave him a rematch. Yeah, and certainly Foreman.
Speaker 3 (01:14:48):
Was in line for a and at leastaid he would
something doing some of the press conference.
Speaker 6 (01:14:54):
I'll fight this, I'll fight this gorilla again.
Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
He could fight Fraser again and obviously did one of
the great trilogies their history.
Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
But but the thrill of Manila is still grill.
Speaker 6 (01:15:07):
We need grills a day right now.
Speaker 3 (01:15:09):
We are we ever going to get a return of
the heavyweight division. I mean, it was so magic back
in the seventies at that time. All right, we'll continue
on here. We're gonna get back.
Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
To what's happening in the March madness right now, where
Duke has had a tough battle going on against Baylet
keep it here.
Speaker 3 (01:15:23):
This is Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
Steve Harbin and VJ. Husky Fox Sports Sunday. We are
live from the Tiraq dot Com studios. All right, so
we got all the March madness going on right now.
We're talking about George Foreman. You know, BJ this is
this is the time of year. I feel a little
sorry for baseball. Right now, we're gonna be talking with
(01:15:46):
our dear friend John Paul Morosi coming up, and he's
gonna give us the full report. Did you see some
of the money they made, uh from merchandise sales of
that two game series between the Dodgers come up forty
million dollars on merchandizes.
Speaker 3 (01:16:00):
Mh. Do you are you a big old fan? Are
you a big fan of let's say, the National Football
League expanding into London or Germany? Thank you? Thank you?
Doesn't make any sense. It's American sport. Keep it here.
Speaker 4 (01:16:16):
I hated baseball was America's pass on. There's there are
countries that are great.
Speaker 3 (01:16:20):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:16:20):
We don't always win the gold medal. We don't always
win the World Baseball Classic Tournament. No, no, no, Football
isn't American our.
Speaker 3 (01:16:27):
Style of football. They tried NFL Europe.
Speaker 4 (01:16:29):
And it was good because it did get players over
there to want to play, but we were mostly shipping
leftover players from here.
Speaker 3 (01:16:37):
Over there was a good minor league. By the way,
he had a brief run over there. Not only him,
he hate me. Jake del Loan was over the quarterback.
I can't remember. Excuse me, that was over there too.
But no, no, no, I just think the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:16:55):
Now, if you want to do a Super Bowl overseas,
I get that. We I'm not going to complain about
that or people, Oh what if I want to go, well,
you've had fifty eight shots, okay, if you're over if
you know, depending on how old you are, let me.
I've had thirty super Bowls to get to. If I
haven't gotten to one yet, I can't complain about the
one they want to put in Europe or the one
that they want to have maybe in Paris or.
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
Something like that. I totally get an understanding.
Speaker 4 (01:17:17):
People have to understand and realize sports is not just entertainment.
People need to stop saying that it is a business. First,
the business entertains you, it's not entertainment.
Speaker 5 (01:17:27):
First.
Speaker 4 (01:17:27):
They turn into a business. It's a business first that
entertains you. And if they can make an excess of
five hundred million dollars, which it'll be that or higher,
if they had a Super Bowl overseas, then the NFL
is gonna do that. It's gonna play out, it's gonna
filter down to everything else in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:17:45):
Why wouldn't you want that?
Speaker 4 (01:17:46):
I wouldn't mind if they wanted to do one in
Melbourne and Australia are do one in Paris. I'm not
going anyway. And the people that get to cover guess
what the networks has gotta do. They gotta get you
over there. Man, you get a free trip to Paris.
Speaker 9 (01:17:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:18:01):
This is where I was frustrated for Dodger fans.
Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
And not every Dodger fan agrees to this, but I mean,
if you are that diehard Dodger fan, you know the
people there, they're wearing the Dodger gear. Twenty four to seven, right, yep,
three sixty five, they are wearing their Dodger gear. And
the team just won the World Series And I'm ready
for the new season, and you're telling me during the
work week, not the weekend, but during the actual week
(01:18:24):
to see my beloved defenny world champions, to see them
in their start their season. I have to get up
at three o'clock in the morning, or don't are you
kidding in the middle, I have worked. I can't get
up at three am. What are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (01:18:37):
Or just I'm gonna miss the start of the season
of my beloved Dodgers because oh, that's.
Speaker 2 (01:18:43):
Right, there's more money. Like you need more money. By
the way, let's let's make something.
Speaker 3 (01:18:47):
C DVR a game and just wake up and watch
it in normal time and just stay off for social media.
I'd like to watch sports live. Do you tell me
you don't tape game? I am the king of DVR
in this business? Are you kidding me? That's why I
watch more than everybody.
Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
Understand why sports has become the phenomenon that it is.
It was a niche thing for me growing up, but
it's not anymore. Is theda is the ultimate live television event?
Speaker 4 (01:19:12):
But I can't watch everything live. If you DV are
as much as I do, you get I can't see.
Speaker 2 (01:19:17):
I will watch the highlight, but I'm not gonna watch
a game. How do you stay away from the scores?
Speaker 3 (01:19:21):
Stay off for social media? Oh please, you don't. You
have your phone in your head constantly? What are you
talking about it?
Speaker 4 (01:19:27):
And I've learned to navigate through what I know is
gonna put Like, Instagram's not gonna show, so I can
stay on Instagram all day. Instagram's not gonna show scores,
people on Twitter running out about games, so I stay
off for Twitter.
Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
I don't buy that. There's no way I gotta see
the games live, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:19:41):
Coming up, we'll have more on much Madness and the
start of the Major League Baseball season.
Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
How do your brackets look out there?
Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
Yeah, probably not as good as mine. We don't know
about VJ because well, I still have yet to see
his bracket. Once again, this is Fox Sports Sunday, Hartman
and Husky with you. We're broad casting live from the
tire rack dot Com studios tyrack dot com. We're gonna
have get you there and our match selection, fast reshipping,
free road asim protection, over ten thousand recommended installers tyrack
(01:20:10):
dot com The Way tire buying should be coming up here.
In about twenty minutes, we're gonna check on John Paul
Morosi talk about the aftermath of that Dodgers Club series
in Japan, the financials that came out of playing a
couple of games over there, And yes, we are getting
ready for the actual start of the regular season in
Major League Baseball this week, which I am looking forward to.
(01:20:32):
I love game, I love the game of baseball. I
know you're a big Rangers guy. I know you're a
big fan.
Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Obviously, Bruce Bochi is my guy.
Speaker 2 (01:20:38):
Do you know that Boach was I never get this,
so obviously I got to know Boach really well when
he's with the Padres. And the year opening Day twenty eleven,
the year after the Giants won their first World Series
with Boach, Giants are at Dodger Stadium, and so I
went down.
Speaker 3 (01:20:56):
I had this TV work that night, and I walk
in Coach's office and I looked at it and I'm like, really,
really the Giants. I mean as a Dodger, I mean
I hated the Giants my entire life.
Speaker 6 (01:21:11):
Of all the days, Boach, for you to win, want some.
Speaker 3 (01:21:15):
Chance, Giants? And then he ends up two more then
I was.
Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
I was trying to talk him into coming back to
San Dieg because I knew he wasn't really retired when
he left the Giants. I go Butach, I know you're
not really retired.
Speaker 3 (01:21:25):
He's like, ah, I might be. And then he goes
to the Rangers and wins a fourth worldship.
Speaker 4 (01:21:29):
First one ever, beat the Diamondbacks in five and is
still the pin video on my Twitter.
Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
By the way, his the first thing you see is
that last pitch and that celebration. Man Boach has got
the largest skull of any human being. It's like a
globe on his shoulders. I mean his hat size. It's
like family of fork itt fit and that thing. But
he is.
Speaker 4 (01:21:49):
I love, He's a great and he he's got all
his guns back.
Speaker 3 (01:21:54):
Rangers went through crazy injuries last year. They see you're healthy.
They gotta have everybody, not just seeger Evan Marcus. They
need your pitch and they need to pick. They need
to pitch his staff together. They think they got that
settled down the middle rotation. The bullprin is gonna be
five Jacques Young back at third base?
Speaker 2 (01:22:11):
Are Sean Palm Morosi anything other than about the Texas
strange were you talking about?
Speaker 4 (01:22:16):
I asked them about other stuff last week. Come on, man,
don't play me like that. I got my coaches already
line up. This guy's gonna help me get ready for
baseball season. I've been I brought up the Reds, I
brought up the Orioles stop playing. I put the Rays
I brought up on the teams.
Speaker 9 (01:22:26):
Do you guys think I can ask John Palm MOROSSI
if the Dodgers were straight up lying about Mookie Bets
and Freddy Freeman.
Speaker 3 (01:22:31):
Well, I think I again the because.
Speaker 9 (01:22:33):
Mookie Bets is in the Dodgers lineup today.
Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
Oh yes, yeah, in the Freeway Series.
Speaker 9 (01:22:39):
He did not lose fifteen pounds.
Speaker 3 (01:22:41):
Why would he not?
Speaker 6 (01:22:42):
That was the story to report. But you guys know
how I feel about reports.
Speaker 3 (01:22:45):
I think they Well, then the question is why I think.
Speaker 9 (01:22:49):
They had no intention of Freddy or Mookie playing.
Speaker 3 (01:22:51):
What about that?
Speaker 2 (01:22:51):
Well, I'm gonna ask him about this, the story about
Mookie Bets losing fifteen pounds on.
Speaker 4 (01:22:55):
That leaning interesting bow because you know what I might
rock with that though?
Speaker 3 (01:23:01):
Why would they do that?
Speaker 9 (01:23:02):
Why would you spring training games?
Speaker 3 (01:23:04):
Right? The right?
Speaker 9 (01:23:06):
They don't care about those two games.
Speaker 4 (01:23:08):
First of all, it's stupid to have the two games
and then come back and then go back to spring training.
Speaker 3 (01:23:11):
Well, they have to, I mean, the real season doesn't start.
What Thursday, I get it.
Speaker 4 (01:23:15):
So this schedule these games later, then schedule that Japan
thing later.
Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
They were gonna do it when they were gonna get
paid the most money. And that's exactly what they did.
Speaker 6 (01:23:22):
By the way.
Speaker 3 (01:23:23):
John Paul is a big defender of this.
Speaker 2 (01:23:25):
He believes the World Baseball Classic is ultimately going to
be seen as the true championship of baseball, not the
World Series, the World Baseball Classic.
Speaker 3 (01:23:35):
I can ride with that, You're okay, I mean we
had that obviously. We had the big finish with streaking
out Mike t.
Speaker 4 (01:23:41):
The two the two best player perceivingly the best hitter
and best field player against the best pitcher, and and
and the guys going to showing it that night was like,
no one watches this. I'm like, where everybody was watching
the two best players in this tournament? What are you
talking about? Everybody's in this turn this time?
Speaker 3 (01:23:58):
Just I'm just telling you, I like I like that
about that. Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:24:03):
So, uh, we got tournament Duke right now leading Baylor
forty two to thirty.
Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
He got a minute to go in the first half. Uh,
Duke my pick again? Need I need to do go there?
All right? So when we get to this time of
the year here, VJ.
Speaker 2 (01:24:17):
Again, we look at the baseball season, we look at
the March madness.
Speaker 3 (01:24:21):
Uh, and we're still talking NFL King, King.
Speaker 6 (01:24:26):
I don't understand why people fight that king.
Speaker 3 (01:24:29):
Let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:24:30):
We can talk kickers right now and people would tune in.
We can talk kickers right now. Let me let me
ask you about this Stefan Dicks.
Speaker 3 (01:24:39):
Hey, did you there? We'll go Okay, My point.
Speaker 2 (01:24:43):
Is major injury plus thirty. Are you gonna roll the
dice on days you're bringing him in? Are you surprised
he's still floating out there.
Speaker 4 (01:24:53):
I don't do it. I'm not doing this on purpose.
I have to do a little self promotion my TV show.
I've sent you to clips, I've sent you to link
to my TV show. VJ said what I said over
in fan A TV that was one of my opening
comments about the show was.
Speaker 3 (01:25:03):
Trust about do you trust Stefan Dicks?
Speaker 4 (01:25:06):
Because he got the new He went to New England
for a visit, right and left without a deal.
Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
Right, And there's only bad bad.
Speaker 6 (01:25:14):
That's the bad.
Speaker 3 (01:25:15):
Instantly they're number one bad.
Speaker 4 (01:25:17):
But there's a reason why listen, man, there's a reason
why Minnesota let you get away there's a reason why
Buffalo traded you away, and there's a reason why the
Texas restructured your deal so you could become a free
agent again really quick. They were just trying to strike
the iron wires hot by bringing in that was always
gonna be.
Speaker 6 (01:25:33):
A one year thing. He was never going back to now.
Speaker 4 (01:25:35):
That's why they restructured this deal game twenty million up
front so that he could become a free agent again
to try to cash in. But do you trust him
as a guy that you're trying to bring in with
a young quarterback I e. Josh Allen, I E.
Speaker 3 (01:25:51):
CJ.
Speaker 6 (01:25:51):
Stroud and now may up in New England? Do you
trust me?
Speaker 4 (01:25:57):
And most receivers are me guys, but this different types
of me guy. Jerry Rice was a me guy, but
Jerry Rice was a team me guy. There's a difference
between the me guy and a team me guy. He's
still me, but he still is into the team though.
Some guys are just me guys. And if you and
you ain't cool, just pay me and throw me the ball.
I'm not really tripping over Super Bowl reads, the championships.
I want to get paid and I want the ball
(01:26:18):
because the only way I get paid. Is not even
get the ball. That's Steph von Diggs. I've been saying
this and it was interesting to me to hear that
he was up there for a visit.
Speaker 6 (01:26:26):
Not only that, think about it this way. Think about
this way, Steve.
Speaker 4 (01:26:28):
That's your first free that's your first free agent visit
with the teams that need receivers. There's a reason why
you're not being called buddy. There's the reason why your
agent can't get you in. You don't think the Chargers
can use Stefan Diggs. I'm telling I told everybody there
are legitimate w R one away from unseating the chiefs
in the AFC, in AFC West.
Speaker 6 (01:26:45):
They just need they don't have a guy.
Speaker 4 (01:26:47):
You know what I'm saying is that guy he mcconkey's
gonna be a great too if you get a guy.
I wanted them to go after DeVante Adams and the
Rams jumped them, and the Rams.
Speaker 2 (01:26:55):
Jump I honestly thought, even though he best I had,
they might try to get Keenan Allen back.
Speaker 3 (01:27:01):
Well, I mean, did he get Michael Williams back?
Speaker 6 (01:27:03):
I mean, but Tina Allen said he would go back.
Speaker 3 (01:27:06):
Allen said that Italy. He still wants to get paid exactly.
Bears are floating around like a two year, twenty two
million dollar deal and guess what, and the charge isn't
going to give him that now By Caleb Williams, I
don't want to lose Keenan Allen he could still play,
But Tina still understand he's a very cereable receiver.
Speaker 2 (01:27:22):
He knows how to get open. Yeah, he's a safety
valve for any quarterback. Here's my thing about quarterbacks right now.
Speaker 3 (01:27:28):
With a lot of buzz around the National Football League
VJ this year about sort of the revival of the
running back position, you know, with Saquan and obviously early
Derrick Henry having a really big comeback year and everything else.
Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
It will be interesting to see in this draft. You know,
is jenty going to be a top ten pick?
Speaker 3 (01:27:45):
Should be? Should be?
Speaker 2 (01:27:46):
Should I agree to? This kid is small, but he
runs hard inside. He's got power. I'm not going to
compare anybody to Barry Standers, but he has that ability
to take off on a step.
Speaker 3 (01:27:56):
And go and be gone home run hitter.
Speaker 2 (01:28:00):
I dare say that we have elevated these receivers because
of the proliferation of the passing game.
Speaker 3 (01:28:06):
To a level they really don't deserve. Are there.
Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
Exceptional receivers are the only the JJ's. There's a few,
There's a j Mary few, very few, Chase obviously having
a phenomenal year this year. Very few that I would say, Okay, yeah,
they're a difference maker.
Speaker 3 (01:28:24):
The rest of them.
Speaker 2 (01:28:25):
I'm telling you, I think so much is dependent on
the quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:28:29):
I mean, I'll go back to Randy Moss, who disappeared
for two years of the Raiders. Goes to New England
for a fourth round pick.
Speaker 6 (01:28:36):
People thought he was done.
Speaker 3 (01:28:38):
Twenty two touchdowns when Tom Brady's throwing him.
Speaker 4 (01:28:40):
The Remember he walked off the field early against the Redskins.
Now the commits with the Remember that game. That was
the day people looked to go, oh, yeah, that guy.
That guy walking off the field in the NFL is
something you cannot do. In the NBA plays well baseball,
you can sneak out of the dugout, but the NFL,
you better not take your helmet off the start walking
off the field before the game's over. And Randy Moss
did that for the Raiders, and people said, oh, he's done.
Speaker 3 (01:29:02):
Goes to New England.
Speaker 4 (01:29:03):
Oh, just twenty five touchdown catches from Thomas Brady.
Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
I'll give like t Higgins credit right Ry Higgins might
have been able to get Finigl a few more bucks.
Speaker 2 (01:29:12):
Why I got Jamar Chains On one side, I have
arguably the best quarterback in this league in Joe Burrow.
Speaker 3 (01:29:17):
I mean you can make that argument that Joe, look
at the numbers this year.
Speaker 6 (01:29:21):
I'm not saying. I'm just saying.
Speaker 3 (01:29:24):
I mean, you know, Josh, you got Lamar Jackson, you
got a lot of guys that's the conversation. Would have
been the MVP this year had they had any defense
in Cincinnati. I know that because he was my preseason
pick to the MVP.
Speaker 2 (01:29:36):
And I feel like I got Robb because the Bengals
had no defense and they have really no commitment from
that organization to get better just playing the position. Right now,
I wouldn't trade Joe Burrow for any quarterback in the league.
Speaker 6 (01:29:49):
And I agree with you there.
Speaker 4 (01:29:50):
I probab wouldn't trade for Amy and the league because even
if you're traded for Pat Mahomes, if you trade for
Pat Mahomes, then you better have Kelsey, and you better
have Andy Reid, and you better have Spags as a
defensive coordinator along with him that don't come with the pack.
It's no bet, that's all. But I'm not mad at it.
I don't know if I'm ready to jump to broom
on that.
Speaker 3 (01:30:05):
I think you're a head gam how you're feeling it.
Speaker 6 (01:30:08):
My thing is, okay, think about Burrow. This is this
is my thing about It's something and.
Speaker 4 (01:30:12):
I feel bad because I feel like I should love
Joe Burrow. I do as a football guys, the football
guy VJ is I feel like I.
Speaker 3 (01:30:19):
Should love Joe Burrow. You you need to love him.
Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
You would love him and maybe recognized. But there's something
the handicap he has playing for the Bengals, right, it
may handicap. Maybe that's sick Bengal.
Speaker 4 (01:30:31):
And I just know he's never gonna win, right, He's
never gonna win.
Speaker 3 (01:30:34):
You have the team like the Bills have. Josh Allen
just has a better team around. Oh Man.
Speaker 4 (01:30:38):
If he was in Buffalo, they'd be in a super Bowl.
If he was in Buffalo, they'd be in a super
Bowl if he was if he was in Baltimore, he'd be.
Speaker 3 (01:30:44):
In a super Bowl. Cold blooded. I mean, I just
he's next up. But that gets back to the receiver
thing that gets back to the receiver thing. I just
think that we're we're sort of an impasse where I
think that the running back is going to get a
little more. I think did detention, because what position handles
the ball more than running back? None, not even.
Speaker 2 (01:31:04):
Close as opposed to these wide receivers, who by and
large are really a product of the quarterback throwing him
the football.
Speaker 6 (01:31:11):
Yeah, there's some of these guys are really JJ's good.
Speaker 4 (01:31:13):
Davonte Tyreek had won all the Tye chases up there.
Speaker 2 (01:31:18):
There's you know, Tyreek get his peak. But I mean
even Tyreek this year, like what had off you?
Speaker 7 (01:31:23):
Well?
Speaker 4 (01:31:23):
No, well, yeah, what happened was they had to play
four different quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
And that's my another word games.
Speaker 1 (01:31:29):
Tyle m.
Speaker 2 (01:31:30):
Hill is a Hall of Fame receiver, arguably the most
dangerous players league, and he proved his first two years
in Miami after what he did in Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (01:31:37):
He disappeared this year. Everybody disappeared in midst year. But
that's get it done, and it starts starts where all right.
Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
Coming up on the other side, Major League Baseball season
actually started. If anyone saw it, did anybody who actually
watch those games between the Dodgers and the Cubs.
Speaker 3 (01:31:51):
Good if he did. But we're going to get started
with the Major League Baseball season. The man's going to
break it all down with this.
Speaker 2 (01:31:56):
Our Fox Sports Radio m WIB analyst John Paul Morosi
will join us.
Speaker 3 (01:32:00):

Speaker 3 (01:32:58):
I know Alex Courage just posted. I saw you, Colin, Alex.
You guys are all the tome. Congratulations guys. I want
to enjoy the tournament, man, I don't. Well, I've never
had this opportunity enough people in brackets, man, I never
mentioned my brackets here until this year at Fox Sports.
Right derffis I need to move on. I've moved on.
I've done it there, I'm going.
Speaker 2 (01:33:18):
All right, Well, here's here's one way to change uh
this story, and that is a check in with our
Fox Sports radio and will be analysts.
Speaker 3 (01:33:25):
Oh, he's not here yet. He's coming. He's coming, He's
he's on his way. He's on his way. He's probably still,
you know, coming back from Japan from the two games.
Speaker 1 (01:33:32):
Oder.
Speaker 2 (01:33:32):
Well, I'm anxious because again he's a big proponent of
baseball going global. Uh and again, look at some of
the numbers the merchandise sales. Can you imagine for just
a second being show Heyo Tani. He is literally not
only now the face of Major League Baseball, he is
(01:33:52):
the face of an entire country of Japan.
Speaker 3 (01:33:56):
I mean, we've seen that before though, guys like Pakiao
for for the Philippines. Sure China, I mean, and oh
it's not the first one we had we had, but
the first.
Speaker 2 (01:34:10):
For those that I've heard that were actually there, you know,
covering this brief Japanese series putting the Dodgers in the cubs,
they say, you know, you hear about it, You're expecting
a certain level of you know, celebrity, obviously with someone
like show Hey Tani, but when you actually get there,
it's just mind blowing, the mind blowing. Lebron was like you, like,
(01:34:34):
you wouldn't see that on this level in this country.
Speaker 4 (01:34:36):
Lebron was famous for saying he thought he was famous
and popular, and so they went and did the Beijing
Games and went out with Kobe. He said, I thought
I was famous until I was in China and we
were trying to.
Speaker 6 (01:34:49):
Leave for practice, but they told us we had to
wait extra motiicate.
Speaker 3 (01:34:52):
They said.
Speaker 6 (01:34:53):
They go to the window and they lean on and
look in.
Speaker 4 (01:34:55):
The street is covered, they said, as far as they
can look down. But it wasn't like that when at
first up Right got word of got out that that's
where Kobe Bryance said, and there's everybody Kobe Sidy said,
I thought I was famous until I went to China
with Kobe. Yeah, so you think you're famous until the
whole country, like all you people here was a little
three million followers.
Speaker 3 (01:35:14):
Yeah, have a whole country behind you.
Speaker 2 (01:35:17):
I always love watching when they had interviews, well, I
know there's only Paul and Ringo, but you know, talking
about these kids out of Liverpool and really having a
sense of their own level of celebrity, and they're like, yeah,
you know, we played local and we got pretty big
in England and then of course we came to the
United States and it was like, oh my god. But
(01:35:38):
when it really started hitting is when they went global
and then you're like in these foreign countries and they're
like until they're hanging out and it's like, what is
going on?
Speaker 4 (01:35:48):
Toka says the same thing. I watched their forty year
University documentary and the should it did up at the
Bay and they're sitting there going we knew, we knew
we were popular and biggas. But I think the first
time they said they left America, I think it was
in like eighty seven or eight, and they went overseas
and it's like, we're doing the show where it was like, yeah,
we got your guys book the Stockholm.
Speaker 6 (01:36:05):
He's like Stockholm, but they.
Speaker 3 (01:36:07):
Say they go there. He goes, Dude, it's it's packed,
it's so down on. No one sits down. They all
know the words.
Speaker 4 (01:36:15):
And he said that was like, he goes, That's the
moment I knew, Okay, we might got something here. Not
the sod arenas here in America. No, we might got
something to Stockholm, well, Sweden.
Speaker 3 (01:36:25):
A big believer in global is the man joining us
right now.
Speaker 2 (01:36:28):
That is our Fox Sports Radio MLB inside of the
Great John Paul Morosi, So JP, give us the after
story of the series in Tokyo between the Dodgers and
the Cubs. The financials are mind blowing, but just give
us an idea of exceeding expectations.
Speaker 3 (01:36:50):
What did major League Baseball? What did the Dodgers?
Speaker 2 (01:36:53):
What did someone like show Hey Otani gain by opening
their season there in Japan.
Speaker 5 (01:36:59):
We'll get that for you, and I think that you're
touching on the right point, which is the superstar power
in Major League Baseball right now, especially the amazing players
who have come over from Japan to play in MLB
are presenting the league and the players union with a
tremendous bounty of opportunities to make a lot of money, yes,
(01:37:21):
but also grow the game and the brand. And I
saw it in November, as far back as November when
I was riding around in the Metro and Tokyo and
the Dodger logo was everywhere. It was everywhere, and that
was even before Sasaki sign So it just shows as
people were asking, why is opening day at six am
Eastern time in three pm Pacific time? What's because the
(01:37:43):
numbers that you just saw. And I think now when
we look at the big picture here, the way in
which that might can be reinvested in player acquisition, the
fan experience, hopefully a more competitive top to bottom product
revenue is important at a time where there's a little
bit of uncertainty about the media revenue side of things.
(01:38:04):
This is something that is a guaranteed win every time
MLB goes over there, and certainly it's it's a home
run when when Otani's involved and Yamamoto's involved. But there
are significant Japanese players on multiple franchises and multiple franchises
with long standing connections to Japan, like the Mariners and Yankees.
(01:38:26):
Even if they don't have Japanese superstars right now. So
I think it's just the beginning of what's going to
be a continuation of more and more of these series
like this than for very very good reasons, my man.
Speaker 6 (01:38:37):
JP always a pleasure talking to you, man.
Speaker 4 (01:38:39):
I was just telling Hartman before you came on, you're
gonna be the guy to get me ready for baseball season.
Speaker 3 (01:38:44):
I know the game and I don't.
Speaker 1 (01:38:45):
I don't do it.
Speaker 6 (01:38:46):
Let's do it, let's so, let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:38:48):
So I was like to throw teams at you, man,
And did you know I was kind of going to
do at you are the Astros this year, a team
that's been winning. They won the World Series, they had
the whole cheating scandal. My man, Dusty Baker came back
and brought you know, reverence and importance and honor back
to them. But it just kind of seems like a
team where Alvarez leads them in everything. When do they
(01:39:08):
fall off or do they just keep chugging along. This
year is going to be a threat in the AO
completely to get to the World Series.
Speaker 5 (01:39:16):
JA. This might be the year where we finally see
that diminishment and they have been I think when you
talk about competitiveness in Major League Baseball right there with
the Dodgers in terms of the best franchise last decade,
and certainly with some controversy, and I get that, but
when you look at the consistent winning, it has been
(01:39:36):
something you admire, especially what they've done even since the
scandal broke following the twenty nineteen season. It's been a
lot of years since then, they've still kept winning. Now,
the different part of it here is the number of
players and top end talent who have left or been traded.
And if you go back and even look at the
World Series rosters of twenty two and twenty three, and
(01:39:58):
you ask yourself, how many of those guys are still
on the team. Bregman's gone, obviously, Tucker was traded, Verlanders gone,
Korea has been gone now for a couple of years.
I think that they're going to rely heavily on young talent.
They love Cam Smith. I think he's going to get
a chance to be an everyday player in Houston very
early on this season. I think in the rotation I
(01:40:20):
see some signs of concern Luis Garcia not being ready
to go. It has me a little bit worried. But
they do have mccollors back. He's back on the trail.
So there's a lot of things to like still about
this team. But I look at the American League West
as being very, very winnable for a number of teams,
including the Mariners, who I think today made a very
(01:40:40):
bold movie Jed. They released Mitch Haniger, and he's been
someone that's been a mainstay of that organization over two
different ten years. But he wasn't he wasn't playing well
enough this spring, and that to me is a is
a big time move that says we got to win now.
We've got to get off to a good start now,
and it really brands that team with a lot of urgency.
(01:41:00):
So I think the Seattle Mariners, as tough as that is,
to have a respected veteran player moved on, I think
that move sends a very powerful message about urgency to
the entire organization.
Speaker 2 (01:41:12):
All Right, so he picks a team, I'm going to
pick a division, a division near and dear to you,
and that is the Al Central Guardians won it last year.
Speaker 3 (01:41:24):
We had the Royals, we had the Tigers in the postseason.
Speaker 2 (01:41:26):
I don't think a lot of people predicted that we
would have three teams out of that division make the postseason.
The Twins are right on the cusp, and of course
the White Sox had a historically bad season. How do
you look at the ALE Central and how's this going
to play it? Are we going to see the same
fourteens bunch of the top or is there going to
be a breakout team in the AL Central in twenty
(01:41:47):
twenty five?
Speaker 5 (01:41:49):
The Tigers will win the Central this year. Not just
because and not just because my mom wanted me to
say that on your show today. This is not just
for Mama Morosi's sake. I really believe that to be
the case.
Speaker 3 (01:42:04):
Now.
Speaker 5 (01:42:05):
Part of the reason is they're starting pitching depths I
think is the envy of a lot of teams in baseball.
Remember they brought back Jack Flaherty, so they made the
trade involving Flerty last year the deadline, and they resign
them and they still have Derek Scooble, Who's the best
pitcher I believe right now in the world, Reese Olsen.
This stuff has been really good this spring. Jackson job,
(01:42:26):
elite young starting pitcher. Casey miz looks like he's back
to being the prospect that people believed he was going
to be a long time ago, so you start adding
up all these different elements. They added Tommy Cainley to
the bullpen. I am a little bit worried about their
run scoring, but they did sign Manny Margo today and
they're probably going to give him a good run of
at bats there in that outfield as the season begins.
(01:42:46):
So I do have some worries about the run scoring.
But when you are this deep on the mound and
you've got the number one farm system in the game,
you're dangerous because you can make a trade for almost
anybody you want as the season gets going. So if
they have a good start to the year, I expect
them to still be a bit judicious about how they
spend their prospects. But I think in terms of major
(01:43:08):
league talent plus when you've gotten the minor leagues, they're
set up the best, I think of any team in
that division. I still like the Royals a lot too,
of course, that they really gave the Yankees a threat
last year, and the Guardians they're always there. They just
signed Bibby to an extension, made a little trade which
I thought was interesting to bring in Nolan Jones, who
maybe needs a bit of a change of scenery. So
there are some things that they've done that I like,
(01:43:30):
but I think in general, the Tigers are the teams
that I like top to bottom, especially because remember the
Guardians no longer have Josh Nato. They made that move
with Arizona, so that's a big time bat to be missing.
Now the Pride of Mississauga, Ontario Josh Naylor. So we'll
see how they're able to make up for Josh's absence.
But right now I see the best one through twenty
(01:43:51):
six and probably one through forty being in my home
state of.
Speaker 4 (01:43:54):
Michigan, Fox Sports, Sunny hartmandel Husky. Right now we have
one the great JP Morosi, Fox Sport's ready a Major
League Baseball and was. And another shout out to Mama Morosi.
So there's two of them for you right there, Mama
morosse to get your shot out National Radio.
Speaker 6 (01:44:07):
All right, Jp, I got a question.
Speaker 4 (01:44:08):
For you, man, And I was talking to Manti and
Steve during one of her updates about just the injuries.
It feels like every day I log on to ESPN
or MLB on my app and it's another big name
or even like you know, budding coming up to young
star names.
Speaker 6 (01:44:25):
Somebody's out.
Speaker 4 (01:44:26):
We know in NFL it's the hits, and you don't
get to practice as much, so you do get hit
in the games.
Speaker 6 (01:44:31):
It brings up the injury.
Speaker 4 (01:44:32):
We know in the NBA they have the bus load
management and we call the NBA players sawt but in
baseball they never had like a soft tag on baseball players.
But these injuries are starting to kind of mount up
just day after day.
Speaker 5 (01:44:44):
What's going on, Well, Jay, it's a really important question
of one that a lot of people at the Commissioner's
office have been working on for a long time. And
there was a report that they released during the offseason
that basically identify this exact interval of time, the four
weeks right before opening Day as being the high point
(01:45:08):
for injuries all year long, because pitchers that maybe had
fought through something the previous year, like a Garrett Cole,
but came back and thought they were going to be
able to get through it find out that they can't.
Or maybe it's someone that was trying to learn a
new pitch or learn a new grip and they were
mastering this in the off season. All of a sudden,
the competition mode kicks in and they're really throwing it
(01:45:29):
for real, and they're maxing out what they're doing, and
then they strained their elbows, strain the forums, train something
in their hand or even risks or shoulder. Certainly is
you hear about a lot. It is an industry wide concern,
and there are too many reasons right now that I
think are pointing in the direction of this problem continuing,
(01:45:51):
which is that Major league teams, for good reason, want
their pitchers to be as nasty as possible. They want
nasty fastballs and sliders that break from here to Kingdom come,
and all of a sudden they realize that, yeah, if
you do that too many times to your arm, it's
going to break. The players on their side say, wait
a minute. If I want to get paid, I got
to throw big velocity. The entire industry has channeled in
(01:46:15):
this direction, and you're not going to be immune unless
you're Kyle Hendrix, who throws in the lower nineties and
relies much more on command and control. But there are
very few pictures right now, VJ who in this industry
can have success at that type of a philosophy. The
irony though, and I say this and it's important to
(01:46:35):
point out we talked about it before. Pitchers back in
the day could throw three hundred innings and they can't
anymore because they're throwing too hard. They're pushing the limits
of the human body. And I think that unfortunately. I
wish VJ. That I could tell you that all of
our favorite pictures are going to stay perfectly healthy for
the next ten years. But it's just the data that
(01:46:57):
you're referencing. You're exactly right, You're re in the situation.
It's spot on, and you have all the same information
that Rob Manford does right now, which is that for
velocity and stuff is the reason why. And honestly, nothing
in the game has changed. It is going to stop
at any time soon.
Speaker 3 (01:47:13):
All Right.
Speaker 2 (01:47:13):
We have a very short window of very brief any
word on the Mookie Bets situation, because we now understand
after the reports he lost fifteen pounds, he was sick,
could not play in Japan, that he's going to be
in the lineup.
Speaker 3 (01:47:25):
For the Freeway series with the Dodgers. What the hell's
going on here? Right?
Speaker 5 (01:47:30):
Yeah, it's very concerning, and I don't know in terms
of what the exact prognosis is, but that is a
very nasty infection that he was dealing with by all accounts,
and so I do think that there is at least
some trepidation about if he'll be full strength by opening day.
(01:47:51):
I think that the most important thing is that it
seems like he's at least trending in the right direction.
But that's a lot to ask of a hitter to
be out of the lineup for that long and then
jump right back in the main competition when you're that
that many pounds lighter than expected. So I do think
Steve and VJ they'll be very, very careful, and they
should with one of the great people and great players
(01:48:13):
in Major League Baseball.
Speaker 3 (01:48:14):
Well, next time we'll talk, every major league team will
have had actual games on their resume.
Speaker 2 (01:48:20):
Well, looking forward to JP of the best. Thanks so much,
we'll talk to you next week.
Speaker 5 (01:48:24):
Sounds good to join the tournament, but by the time
we speak next week, we'll have a number of regular
season games already going. Yes, sir, it'd be great.
Speaker 3 (01:48:32):
All right, then, the best to your mom as well
as always Jpeve John Absolutely she gets weather for her
Tigers as they try to win that Ale Central this year.
Speaker 2 (01:48:41):
Let's find out what is trending right now? And Monci
is back on a very busy day.
Speaker 3 (01:48:48):
Yeah, it's getting busier.
Speaker 8 (01:48:49):
Started off nice and easy.
Speaker 3 (01:48:50):
Get a busy one game, and then we're still we
still have one game. We got some NBA going on though.
Speaker 8 (01:48:56):
You know, later my Clippers are going to take on
the Thunder and I'm hoping for a good matchup. But
let's start here. In men's college who second round continues
early in the second half, one seed Duke has a
fifty five to forty lead over nine seed Baylor. The
other one seed Florida survives seventy seven to seventy five
against eight seed Yukon, so the Gator's hand of the
Husky's their first loss in March Madness since twenty twenty two.
(01:49:18):
Texas has informed head men's basketball coach Rodney Terry that
he's been fired, and the reports are that Sean Miller is.
Speaker 6 (01:49:24):
Going to be the new head coach at Texas.
Speaker 8 (01:49:26):
Miller was the coach at Xavier who knocked out Texas
on Wednesday in the first four So messy, messi, MESSI, MESSI.
On the women's side of things, it's also the second
round of their tournament and four seed Baylor losing to
five seed Ole Miss twenty six to twenty one about
five minutes to go in the first half. Halfway through
the fourth quarter, nine seed Indiana giving one seed South
(01:49:46):
Carolina a run for their money. South Carolina is up
though fifty one forty four with less than seven.
Speaker 3 (01:49:52):
Minutes to go. In the NBA, it's the Pistons and
the Pelicans.
Speaker 8 (01:49:56):
Pelicans up, believe it or not, seventy four to seventy
three halfway through the third quarter, and the Jazz doing
what they can against the Cavaliers, who.
Speaker 3 (01:50:03):
Have lost four in a row. Cleveland is up fifty one.
Speaker 8 (01:50:05):
To forty five.
Speaker 3 (01:50:05):
They're headed to halftime. Back to you guys, all right,
MONTSI great shops. By the way, Sean Miller is better
not lose that damn game. I'm sorry. Sean Miller is
one of the I've said this about the NCAA basketball tournament,
especially we talk about losing a conference championship game or
a league championship series.
Speaker 2 (01:50:25):
That's heartbreaking us. You're so close to being into the
World Series or the NBA Finals, and the Elite eight
is like wow, because you're already invested two weeks in
the tournament, you've won three games, maybe four if you're
in the first four, and to be one game away
from the big dance. Sean Miller one year at Xavier,
on his first time at Xavier three times with Arizona
(01:50:46):
knocked out in the Elite eight four times. The only
coach that ever had more Elite eates without ever making
it to the Final four was John Cheney at Temple
five times.
Speaker 3 (01:50:58):
He lost in the Elite eight and never made it
to the Final four.
Speaker 2 (01:51:01):
That's gotta be rough. But here's Sean Miller now with
an opportunity. Uh As he's leaves Xavier. Remember he went
back to Xavier.
Speaker 5 (01:51:08):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:51:09):
And now he'll be at Texas and he'll have a
lot of you know, they've got a lot of money
in Texas.
Speaker 4 (01:51:13):
He got a lot of money. Macau Smart couldn't change.
And listen when Rick Barnes, when you got rid of
Rick Barnes, right, it's almost like it's almost like when
they got rid of I'm sorry, the head coach that
was at Carolina before. He just retired and left and
Bill Belichick took the Barnes. You're talking about it, yes,
And so when you get rid of these guys, right,
you see what bars that he went to Tennessee and
(01:51:35):
brought Tennessee back after Bruce Pearl left Tennessee.
Speaker 3 (01:51:38):
And he's still looking for the first ever Final four.
Speaker 4 (01:51:41):
Right and then but Bruce Pearl had you know, brought
him up, got to Sweet six then he left.
Speaker 3 (01:51:45):
They went down.
Speaker 6 (01:51:46):
The Barnes comes back.
Speaker 3 (01:51:47):
Sean Miller is gonna do it. You know why, because
he's a cheater. He's gonna do what he's gonna He's
gonna gets into the final four. Not doubt they're in
an SEC man, not immediately, but he's gonna do it.
Speaker 4 (01:51:59):
You gotta deal with Klipari and Arkansas. Baby, that's the
SEC guys.
Speaker 3 (01:52:04):
That's you're saying.
Speaker 6 (01:52:05):
I'm telling you, man, listen, buckle in.
Speaker 3 (01:52:07):
I will say this. I will say Pari.
Speaker 6 (01:52:09):
Is about to take over, just like he did at Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (01:52:11):
Well, if Kentucky loses today, can you imagine and coach
cal is already in the sweet sixteen at Arkansas? Is
there's they were basically trying to move him out of
the picture.
Speaker 6 (01:52:23):
Yeah, is there any way they cross? I have to
look at I have to.
Speaker 3 (01:52:26):
Look at that. I take the brackets because were you
to imagine that though Arkansas can lead at or final
for me.
Speaker 2 (01:52:32):
Matchup at some point that I guess they potentially could
be all right, Uh well, put a camera on things
for us in terms of what do you expect by
day's end, who's gonna win and who's gonna say good
night on their chances of a national championship here in
twenty twenty five. This is Fox Sports Sunday Steve Harvin
and VJ. Husky, Harbin and Husky Fox Sports Sunday Live
(01:52:55):
from the tire.
Speaker 3 (01:52:57):
Rak dot Com Studios. Is there a better song than that? Seriously,
there are certain songs that you can hear.
Speaker 2 (01:53:02):
I've heard this song forever, Earth, Wind and Fire, and
I'm just like you could hear the song over.
Speaker 3 (01:53:08):
And over and over and over and over and over again.
Never get time. It's my birthday month. September is my
birthday month, my ex my mother. September Babies is my
birthday day for the song Yeah Yeah twenty first night
of September, I just did yeah broke. There are a
day of part I'm I'm a twenty second. It's the
perfect band. To me, It's just perfect.
Speaker 4 (01:53:28):
Everybody's got their favorite band, but I've seen them live
at the form and they to perform with.
Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
Chicago Yah, one of the greatest both bands, one of
the greatest concerts I've ever seen in my life.
Speaker 5 (01:53:39):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:53:39):
Man, everyone's always like, oh, you guys are old with
your music. This is how many I'm serious?
Speaker 2 (01:53:45):
How many songs of twenty twenty five are they gonna
still play you forty years from now, over and over again?
And you're still tune up the rate, turn up the
radio zero zero zero.
Speaker 3 (01:53:57):
I don't hear anything, sir.
Speaker 4 (01:53:58):
Mix A Lot of Baby Got Back came on one
day and that the person I was riding with, I said,
you know what, he made a song that will Trinson
forever because as soon as it starts, everybody's gonna go
Star makes a lot Baby Got Back.
Speaker 3 (01:54:09):
I want to thank the crew today.
Speaker 2 (01:54:11):
Monsie, by the way, is getting ready for her own
show coming up here as she and Carrie Roads are
going to jump into our seats here shortly.
Speaker 3 (01:54:18):
Chris, Uh, how are you doing today? Man? It's in
a sort of a quiet day. I mean you're driven.
Speaker 7 (01:54:25):
I like you, Yeah, I know, I'm actually you know,
Monsey's prepping for her show once I get out a year.
In about an hour, I've got a prep for my podcast.
Very good is you know, NFL season never sleeps, let
a free agency still to talk and you know, before
we know it.
Speaker 3 (01:54:39):
I think you know, I'm Catholic, so I always go
through lent.
Speaker 7 (01:54:42):
But then immediately after, as soon as lent ends, the
drafts right there, So straight from fish to football.
Speaker 2 (01:54:49):
With all due respect to everything going on in sports,
and again, March Madness is special.
Speaker 3 (01:54:53):
All these sorts are special. But yeah, the drafts is
going to be big. And look who showed up today.
Look at Bo, Look at Bo Bo. We miss you
may over the world. What the heck is going up?
Speaker 7 (01:55:03):
Me?
Speaker 2 (01:55:04):
Bo has been a part of my Sunday shows forever.
And then all of a sudden, I'm like, yeah, I
need some time with the kid and everything else. And
unfortunately I can understand that.
Speaker 9 (01:55:13):
Now we'll be rich and I will be back maybe
in August. I don't know. You think we'll see You
think the NFL season is going to happen again.
Speaker 3 (01:55:20):
I don't know why.
Speaker 9 (01:55:21):
Yeah there's another NFL season.
Speaker 3 (01:55:23):
That red zone radio thing, yeah yeah, we just football period,
like it might stick around. I guess you know, it
seems popular. You're right, it seems like people like I
don't know why.
Speaker 4 (01:55:33):
I don't know why, Like you know, it controls the
world like twelve months a year, like take a break.
Speaker 3 (01:55:39):
And and and you know it's funny. Well, first of all, both,
thank you very much. It's great to have you see
while you know how much you love bo No. I mean,
it's the thing about.
Speaker 2 (01:55:49):
It is, I know I was talking about this, uh,
I don't know, maybe five years ago something like that.
Well it was before COVID, so let's say twenty eighteen twenty,
and the NFL was just skyrocketing, and and you know,
I kept looking for signs because you remember, there was a
lot about the head injuries, and there was all that
that there's not going to be any more tackle football
(01:56:11):
and it you know, and and there and then by
the way, the NFL is really plugging this flag football.
Speaker 3 (01:56:16):
And everything else, you know, and and so there was all.
Speaker 2 (01:56:19):
These concerns about CT and all this and that you know,
kids weren't going to play the game anymore, so there
wasn't going to be a talent pool. And yeah, the
NFL is peaked, okay, you know, you know it's like
the stock market, like it's that's that's as far as
it's going to get and that's going to be a
big sell off.
Speaker 3 (01:56:35):
Okay, there's gonna be a big sell off. And here
we are and it's never been big. Girl. We just
had the.
Speaker 2 (01:56:43):
Most watched superbo of all time. The amount of money,
I mean, we're talking now about television revenue equal distribution
of about three hundred million dollars per team.
Speaker 3 (01:56:57):
That's thirty two teams. Through the math, the the staggering
numbers that we are looking at right now, we are
not that far away from quarterbacks checking in at you know,
eighty million, seventy eight million's sixty yeah, there's sixties seventy
eighty million a year. It's coming. That guy's in high
school right now, no doubt, because he's in high school
(01:57:21):
right well. Talking about Cooper Flag, right, Duke, if he
is the player that everyone projects him to be, you know,
if he is that level of player, by the time
he gets to his second contract, he'll be he'll be
making seventy because we already have guys well into.
Speaker 2 (01:57:34):
The sixties right now in these contracts out there. But
the NFL, there is no slowdown.
Speaker 3 (01:57:39):
The idea of you know, all the detractors, well, the NFL,
you know all the controversy with the calling Kaepernick situation.
You know, the the NFL simply they they act like
we can't be beaten, and that arrogance works for them.
Speaker 2 (01:57:56):
It actually works for the NFL. I don't think it
would work for any other sport. But they're like, we're
above that. And the answer is, whether you like it
or not, they are.
Speaker 3 (01:58:07):
They just are. I should have always said about the
NFL the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:58:10):
You think the NFL cares about you saying you're gonna
boycott because of Colin kaeperdet You think the NFL cares
that you're gonna boycott because of Jonathan Martin and Richie
Acock Needle, the bullying situation down in Miami. You think
the NFL cares that you're gonna boycott because some players
know doing the national about right Ray Rice right, which is.
Speaker 6 (01:58:28):
Caught on film.
Speaker 3 (01:58:29):
Right.
Speaker 6 (01:58:29):
You think the NFL cares?
Speaker 3 (01:58:31):
They don't.
Speaker 6 (01:58:32):
They are the king, They're the biggest boys on the block.
Speaker 4 (01:58:35):
They're gonna do what they want to do, when they
want to do it, how they want to do it,
where they want to do it, who they want to
do it with, and who they want to do it too.
But the NFL has this down perfectly. The NFL has
the service Month, the NFL has Breast Cancer Month. All
the guys wear the pink wrist bands and the pink
gloves it and then in November all the coaches much dress.
Speaker 6 (01:58:56):
In the fatigue style hoodies or has whatever you're wearing.
Speaker 4 (01:58:59):
On this sideline, the NFL gets, yeah, we gonna do
what we want to do, but we understand there's pockets
of communities that that love football and love the NFL.
Speaker 6 (01:59:09):
Oh yeah, football. We're not gonna kill football, you know
we're gonna do.
Speaker 4 (01:59:12):
We're gonna create the NFL Youth Flag Football League for
you moms and your kids.
Speaker 3 (01:59:16):
Eventually put a helmet on the pluck.
Speaker 2 (01:59:17):
You know what they're not gonna do though, that the
NBA Major League Baseball do fully guaranteed contracts, which.
Speaker 3 (01:59:22):
Is messed up, Which is totally messed up. But it
shows you again the power of the owners, the power
of the commissioner despite still not fully guaranteed contracts, and
the players all right, mon seeing carry will take over
and keep it here. This is Fox
