Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio, living the dream
once again.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Here one week away from the big game.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
This is Fox Football Saturday, and we're broadcasting live from
the tai iraq dot com studios ti iraq dot com.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
We're gonna get you there an unmatched.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Selection, fast reshipping, free road ads are protection over ten
thousand recommended installers ti i rag dot com the way
tire buying should be. Look who's back from her big
birthday celebration last weekend?
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Yeah, how was that birthday weekend for you?
Speaker 4 (00:34):
You know, it was everything you would expect my birthday
to be, Like some drinks and then some more drinks
and I survived. You survived, obviously you're here and it
took me a minute to come back to life, but
I came back to life around two o'clock Sunday the
next day.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
Okay, So were you more exhausted from your birthday weekend
or your work today at this big Dodgers event. If
you don't know, Monci does work with the Dodgers, has
for years and they had a big community event today
where they you know, actually it's a whole week long
process with.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
The Dodgers as they get back to the community.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Obviously here in southern California, a lot of victims of
the wildfires and everything else.
Speaker 2 (01:15):
But you came in today apparently minus.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Your card because you're banging on the door to get
into the building.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
So I thought I was gonna be able to stop
by the house and get my you know, my fox bag.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
Yes, No, I can't. Had to come straight here, so
I didn't have my badge. I am more exhausted right
now than I was last.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Week without any alcohol.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
No, I wish I had alcohol. It would have made
the day so much easier.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
It was fan Fest today, a way to really kick
off the season, and we do this every year, but
this year, if you haven't already seen on social media,
they are doing a huge remodel in the clubhouses, so
there is no field.
Speaker 5 (01:55):
Typically FanFest is the field is open.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
In fact, that's where we send most people that we
have a stage, all the players come out, and there's
like events throughout the stadium without the field, without access
to so many of these places. FanFest was used in
parking the parking lot in certain areas of the parking lot,
and I think the idea was just not executed the best.
(02:20):
I mean imagine doing something of this magnitude for the
first time.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Well, how many people are we talking about?
Speaker 4 (02:25):
So about twenty five thousand is what I heard was
the expect for today.
Speaker 5 (02:30):
Yeah, I think in the.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Past we were personally in charge of all twenty five.
Speaker 5 (02:34):
Thousand people, you know, and you know, only one of
them yelled at me. Only Mark yelled in my face.
And I held it. I held it together.
Speaker 4 (02:41):
Yeah, it just was a little bit difficult because we
just don't have access to as much space as we
typically do, and so there was a lot of congestion
in areas trying to get from point A to point B. Overall,
I heard so many people screaming and yelling as Yamamota
walked by, as you know, Tales got her Nanas walked by,
(03:02):
and so it was. It was fun, but it was
a lot of work, and I I am exhausted. I literally,
I'm just like, well, you know, if I can, if
I can nap, it's fine because Steve's here. So I'll
just take a nap. Well, Steve talks for the next
ten minutes, and we're good.
Speaker 5 (03:16):
We're good.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
You know, I have your back, you know I can
cover that. That's not a problem.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Now, with all due respect to show Hee O Tani
and Freddie Freeman and movies bets and Clayton Kershaw and
all these legends, has Taoscar Hernandez.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Become like the fan favorite, like he is wildly popular.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
He is, and that happened during the season last year. Yeah,
he was loved from the very beginning.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Great guy, great guy.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
And at the start of the season there were like
videos of him telling like Otani and Yamamoto to say
things in Spanish and like it was just such a
sweet thing to see. But that fandom, the the La
loving tales got started last season and now this year
absolutely has kicked into another game.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
You realize the overwhelming majority of people listening in LA really.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Hating Now do you know what hat haid? Hate spending
all that money?
Speaker 3 (04:08):
Hate?
Speaker 5 (04:09):
I get it. Listen, you hate all you want. It's
not going to change anything.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
But Door Doctor fans are not going to lose any sleep,
especially have to when you have back to back years.
Are you losing the first round to the likes of
the Podreys and the Diamondbacks and finally break through with
dare I say a legitimate World Series championship in a
full season for the first time since nineteen eighty eight,
with all due.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Respect to twenty twenty. First, yeah, doctors are having a
good time right now.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
I mean, honestly, blame blame the Astros for cheating back
in twenty seventeen. This is the vengeance tour that's happening.
It just took a while to get there. But blame
the Astros for all of this. That's why I'm blaming.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
All Right, Hall of Fame is going to be a
subject matter today. I'll get into some of what I
will divulge for our audience that you were going to
get nowhere else. But last week, last week, Rich and
I ended up having Paul Morosi on our ship, and
we were talking about the Hall of Fame vote, and
(05:05):
I knew at that point they had an announced it.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
We knew it was going to get in.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
But Carlos Beltron is getting close, and it looks like
he's going to get in next year, and so I
got all over JP.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
And you know how much I love JP. I'm like, JP,
let me get this straight.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
You won't vote for an Alex Rodriguez or Amanny Ramirez
despite their overwhelming Hall of Fame credentials, because they used peds.
You wouldn't vote for Bonds or Clemens or any of
these guys, But you're going to vote for Carlos Beltron,
who was one of the masterminds of one of the
biggest cheating scandals of Major League history that resulted in
the Astros stealing a World Series from the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
You're okay with that, he goes, well, I didn't vote
for him the first ballot, so that's his penalty.
Speaker 5 (05:46):
I go, why don't you do that with the paes.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, okay, so Bond's cheated, I won't vote for him
for a couple of years.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Oh no, No, it's different. How's it different If you're
saying these PD users were cheating the game and Carlo's
Beltron was one of the masterminds of a huge cheating
scandal that directly won a World Series for a team,
how is what's the difference?
Speaker 4 (06:11):
I do not disagree with you. It should be the
same energy. And actually I think the cheating like what
the Astros did of like sealing signs, is worse than
players taking pds, because even if you.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Take a PD, you still have to hit the ball,
thank you, You still have to deliver the other one
you straight up were cheating. I think the other one
is worse. Bonds would be in if it was up
to me.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
I just absolutely I was just like, you get no energy.
Speaker 5 (06:39):
If you feel one way.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Yeah, this is going to be the same way when
jose L Twove's up all these other astros.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
So I just had the hypocrisy. I agree with no limits.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
It and JP stands he stands by that digs his heels.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
I know, I mean, he's.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
I have a lot of friends that are members of
the Baseball Writers' Association of America. They vote, and they
they're to a man or a lady, they are absolutely
we are the only really legit hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (07:09):
I'm like, no, you're not. No, no, you're not.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
A far more legit hall of Fame, in my opinion,
is the Pro Football Hall of Fame, because the voters
are told you are to decide the fate of the
candidates based solely on what they did on the field.
It's not about personalities, it's not about criminal behavior away
from the field.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
What they did on.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
The field, either as a player, as a coach, as
an executive, that decides whether or not they're in the
Hall of Fame. All right, speaking of the Pro Football
Hall of Fame once again, when you've been around as
long as.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
I have, you have a lot of friends in the business.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
And I have friends on the committee for voting for
the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Now the Honors NFL
Honor Show is coming up on Thursday. They'll announce the
MVP All the Season Awards, and they will announce the
Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of twenty twenty five.
So there were fifteen finalists announced. I know who made
(08:14):
the final cut.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Wow, I know who didn't make the final the interesting
side of this, That's exactly it.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
So I will divulge for our audience only, and you
will get this from no one else coming up in
about half an hour.
Speaker 6 (08:34):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Nice, I will divulge, like you say, more interesting who
will definitely not be a part of the class Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Of twenty twenty five. So we're going to do that.
So you got all that going on. So here we
are a.
Speaker 1 (08:52):
Little over a week away, but both the Chiefs and
the Eagles heading into New Orleans, the Seerars site for
the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
I've covered many Super Bowls in New Orleans.
Speaker 5 (09:02):
Over the years.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
It's a great I've always said this.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
I mean, if you really want to be honest, and
this is no disrespect really, but for the purpose of
covering Super Bowls, what it entails as far as the
massive media and everything else, there should really only be
three sites. You are Miami, the East Coast, New Orleans,
Ne Orleans, and then now LA used to be San
(09:25):
Diego some but LA those you know, the weather cooperates.
Speaker 5 (09:31):
I'm surprised you're leaving Las Vegas.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Ou Vegas.
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Yeah, look, you know I love Vegas, but Vegas is
not equipped and they showed.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
It last year.
Speaker 5 (09:42):
LA equipped.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Yes, no, yes, it's a huge city. But again we
covered it just a couple of years.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
But yes, I know it's done. It happens.
Speaker 4 (09:52):
It's so funny because we just talked about that on
the Odd Couple if you had to get rid of
a place to have the Super Bowl, and most of
us here were like, just don't do it in LA
and we're like, maybe it's because we live here.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
Well that's different.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
I covered two Super Bowls in San Diego when I
lived in San Diego and they're like, oh, I didn't
get to go on the road. But I mean, I
don't want to mention other cities, because I don't want
to disrespect any city because they all had their pluses
and minuses. But I'm just saying, but brother is a
big part of it. I mean, when you when you're
covering a Super Bowl and it's in the deep freeze,
Oh no, no, it's bad.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
I mean I've covered many of those over the years.
I mean it's just it's it's rough.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
And it's not just rough on the media, so oh
are you cooling and everything else, it's not easy on
players getting around. I remember, I remember we were covering
the Rams and the Titans. This is Super Bowl two
thousand was in Atlanta, which I love Atlanta. It's one
of my favorite cities. And they just had this de freeze.
(10:51):
I mean it wasn't like thirty it was low twenties.
And the Tennessee Titans had their media. There's always two
days the Wednesday Thursday before the game where the teams
have their own separate media time, and the Rams at
their hotel they were indoors, but with the Titans at
their hotel, they built like an outside tent and it
(11:14):
was twenty degrees outside the tent and it was twenty
degrees inside the tent. The first day, I remember I'm
talking to Eddie George, he goes, what the hell is this?
Speaker 2 (11:23):
And then the next day they decided to put these
blowers the hot blowers.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Now was like one hundred and twenty inside and twenty
degrees outside, which I don't think is good for anybody.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
And by the way, the Titans ended up losing the game.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
I'm sorry, that just seems unfair. Why was one team
inside one team outside?
Speaker 2 (11:40):
Unexplained? I need you to lay out. The league made
these decisions. But again, if the weather's that rough, no,
absolutely not, it should not be. By the way, football fans,

Steve Harvin, Monciblanos Here on Fox Football Saturday. We are
live from the Tayraq dot com studios. Eight days away
Super Bowl fifty nine between the Chiefs and Eagles rematch
Bright the way we're gonna get into rematches in Super
Bowls amongst many thing you're going to discuss with the
(13:00):
man that is the best of the best. He is
our Fox Sports Radio NFL insider, the Great Adam Kaplan
is joining us right now. And Adam, I there were
a lot of people, including Monsei that really were buying
into this Commander's thing.
Speaker 8 (13:14):
And I.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Came on the air and I said, this is going
to be a blowout. It is going to be a blowout.
And and that's exactly what happened in that game. I mean,
you know against the Lions, well, the Lions had five turnovers,
the Commanders had none. This time the tables were reversed,
four turnovers for the Commanders. But let's let's talk about
(13:36):
this Eagles team right now, a team that you know
extremely well. Give me a little insight because I was
watching part of the replay of the Super Bowl two
years ago between the Eagles and the Chiefs, and boy,
if this game is anything like that one, we're going
to get a real treat coming up here in eight days.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
But compare this Eagles team to two years to go.
Where are they better? Where are they not better?
Speaker 9 (14:05):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (14:05):
Well, where they're better is two areas. Specifically at running
back Saquon Barkley. He takes over for his former college
teammate at Penn State, Miles Sanders, both wearing number twenty six,
by the way, but at Barkley having perhaps well going
through the playoffs. If he gets you know, thirty yards,
he'll have the most yards in NFL history in that
full season. We're talking about obviously, seventeen game season and.
Speaker 2 (14:28):
Terrell Davis holding that right the back of the Broncos.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Yeah, yeah, so he'll beat that, obviously if he didn't
get hurt in this game. So they're there, and then
it's really interesting, Steve, most people don't know this that
are not Eagles fans, but you know they were running
Vic Fangrio scheme.
Speaker 9 (14:42):
The legendary defensive coordinator.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
For Nick Sirianni's first three seasons, John mc gannon, by
the way, the defensive coordinator.
Speaker 9 (14:51):
You know, he leaves after this game.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
By the way, this is this last game you were
talking about the twenty two season. It comes to Cardinals
head coach. They they made a change of the defensive coordinator.
It didn't work out last season. They actually reassigned Sean
dea Sai, who was a defensive coordinators now with the Rams.
In season Matt Patricia, who was a senior offensive assistant.
It didn't work for him because he doesn't even run
that scheme. So that was a disaster. Then this year
(15:16):
they got their man. They tried to hire him twice,
it didn't work out. They got him this time. There
are times a charm. They got Fic Fangio. He's running
his scheme the way he wants it done. And that's
you know, those are the two major differences in terms
of Okay, of many by the way, the Eagles have
I'm going to say about from the twenty two team
(15:36):
of the twenty two starters. It looks like they've got
about thirteen new starter from two years ago, depending on
which front they used on defense and a personnel grouping
that they use. So where the Chiefs have more starters returning,
the Eagles have changed and they've gotten way younger guys.
They have the youngest defense of the National Football League.
I know a lot of us who cover the National
(15:57):
Football League. We know Harry Roseman pretty well and how
the GM of the Eagles, and you know, he kind
of struggled for many years with the draft, but not
lately the last three years, he's probably done the best
of any NFL general manager. He's been very disciplined ever
since that twenty draft, and he's just done a great
job of mixing I was just talking to someone in
the a FC about this today. Does a great job
of mixing free agency where he dominates, in the draft
(16:18):
where he's really come. He's really gotten right lately, and
that's why they're in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
A don't one of the players you mentioned that is
a big change here for the Eagles of Saquon Barkley,
But the Chiefs haven't allowed running backs to really get
more than ninety.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
Yards in a game. How do you think Seguan is
going to do on Super Bowl Sunday.
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Yeah, So it depends on to what confront they come in.
So Barkley crushes nickel defenses. If you come in withsve
five defensive backs of one less guy in the box,
he's just going to crush you. He's going to average
probably over five yards per carry. He's incredible at it.
You look there.
Speaker 9 (17:00):
It's interesting.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
So the Eagles and Chiefs run completely different fronts. The
Chiefs are an old school, forty three different defense. On
our former Eagles linebackers coach Steve Spagnolo, who's done a
phenomenal job. You know, they'll go to some big nickel
which is a three safety alignment, but they do play
a lot of nickels. So it's it's it's going to
be interesting to see what the approaches because for the
(17:21):
first time since Jeffrey Lori owned this team, he's he's
owed it now for thirty years, we're talking about the Eagles here,
they've becoming a running team. He's never analytically, he's never
wanted that, but he gave into what Howie Roseman wanted.
The general manager, and you know, they have this ability to,
unlike two years ago, if they want to go with
a power run game, if they just want to come
in and run the ball and like they don't normally
have this season, they can do that. If they want
(17:44):
to go with more eleven personnel or spread things out,
they can do that. And by the way, Jalen Hurts
his knee look good.
Speaker 9 (17:48):
Last week.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
We weren't totally sure he look good. Ado Brown looked great.
So a lot lots going well for the Eagles. But
the big story I do want to mention before we
move on is I'm almost going to call it the
problem return of the great edge rusher Brandon Graham, who,
at thirty six years old, is defied father time. He's
coming back from his triceps surgery, probably two months early.
(18:10):
He's told reporters it's pretty clear, barring something unforeseen, most
likely will play. This is kind of unheard of. I
have no idea how effective will be or how many
snaps you could have, but everything that's trending for him
to play since Week twelve at the Rams, where he
played out of his mind on November twenty third.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
All right, so again I've looked at this. If you
just if you don't know the backstory on these teams
and you just look at them on paper. In my opinion,
the Eagles are clearly a step above the Chiefs. But
there's a lot of factors involved in the chief success.
One of them is their quarterback, obviously, who now has
(18:47):
this remarkable seventeen and three postseason record. But as good
as that record is, his record against Vic Vangio is
even better.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Eight. No, yeah, he has.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Never let love to a defense in which he was
the coordinator.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
Eight and oh so.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
When we look at the Eagles, number one in the
NFL and total defense, number one in the NFL in
passing defense, so he has a lot of experience going
against Patrick Mahomes. Where is he going to do a
few twists here? Because obviously Mahomes has had his number.
(19:27):
Where can you see the Eagles maybe doing things slightly different,
so hopefully for their sake, throw Mahomes off his game.
Speaker 9 (19:36):
See if it's a good question.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
See all right, So what's happened here this year with
this Fangio defense?
Speaker 9 (19:41):
The people criticize the defense it's more bended.
Speaker 3 (19:44):
Don't break your coaches, tell me that, like he's going
to give you nine to ten plays and by the way,
watching it, Washington's first series eighteen plays but only got
three points.
Speaker 9 (19:54):
He wants you to bleed. That's why they've caused them.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
They've forced the most turnovers over the last ten weeks
of football league.
Speaker 9 (20:01):
You got to be patient.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
You can't force the ball, and Mahomes is not really
a turnover machine. But Steve, what's been fascinating here is
they're not really bending all that much. You know last
week they did in that first series. But now what's
going to happen is, you know, they run so much
zone they play. They play the fifth most zone defense
of the National Football League. They're gonna give you throws
and Kelsey by the way, he saw old man zach
(20:24):
Ertz did a former Eagle second round pick of twenty thirteen.
He killed them last week but didn't matter because they
were up so big. So what's going to have to
happen here is and this week concern me with Hollywood
Brown and Xavier Worthy. But by the way, he's played
very well. He's well ahead of schedule. They may have
to get a little bit physical. See, this is a
great question you had. You may have to get a
little physical if you're Vic Fangio and get these guys.
(20:46):
They don't press much, but you can't just let these
guys run around, and that those three guys that have
just mentioned are devastating. And don't forget about kream Hunt,
who looked great last week in running back. He's not
starting technically, but he clearly now the main ballcarrier.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
All Right, I'm gonna move away from this final game
of the season and.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
Look already towards the future.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
Here Russell Wilson keeps same that he wants to stay
in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 9 (21:12):
Good luck to him.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
Okay, now, yes, because he won't.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Be coming back barking something unforeseen as I'm told, Is.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
There any maybe truth to the rumor that maybe he
reunites with Carol in Las Vegas.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
I'd be surprised, but Pete Carroll didn't exactly. You know,
it's funny Moncy. He was asked the question. Now, I
know it's not his decision. It's John Spytech, who was
personal control in the Cameral manager and I guess it's
not his place to shoot it down, but he didn't
shoot it down. The reason why, just to be clear here,
why I don't think Russell will go back I would
(21:46):
just say that Arthur Smith, I just don't see. Without
going too deep into it, I don't think they saw.
I particularly Arthur with Russell. It just I don't think
it was a great marriage, to be honest. And if
i'd think he would have had a way, we probably
would have seen more of Justin Fields, who out of
the two of them, has a better.
Speaker 9 (22:04):
Chance to resign. I know things could change.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
We got we're six seven weeks away from free agency,
so let's not assume totally that something's going to happen.
But I'd be stunned if Russell Wilson's back.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
All right, So what is your schedule as far as
New Orleans is concerned?
Speaker 9 (22:18):
All right? So I'm there Tuesday. Okay.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
I work for Sports Grid where I'm Steve. You know
I interviewed it was last year I interviewed you, right?
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Is that correct? Was that it was two years ago
in Arizona.
Speaker 9 (22:29):
We're doing it again because I need Are you going
to be there.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
In New Orleans?
Speaker 9 (22:33):
Radio Row?
Speaker 2 (22:34):
I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
First of all, let's be clear, Okay, Radio Row does
not exist anymore.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
It's it's more like a media row.
Speaker 9 (22:42):
Yeah, that's what they call me.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
Yeah, it's media row because you got a lot of
podcasters there and everybody. I mean, sure, let's let's face it,
your star power dwarfs ninety percent of the room. Okay,
Because when I was there with you a couple of
years ago in Arizona, I'm like, who are these people?
I mean, I saw my Buddy's mad Dog, a few,
you know, few regular faces, and that's about it, you know.
Speaker 9 (23:03):
So I'll be there, all yeah, I'll be there. Actually,
I don't go the game. By the way, I.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Never went to the I have always says the game.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
I've actually attended four Super Bowl games or I was
at the actual game, and I've always said those are
four games I missed to me, But the Super Bowls
like a TV experience.
Speaker 9 (23:21):
Right exactly.
Speaker 1 (23:23):
You know, And you know when you go to a game,
or cover a game, or sitting a press bar or
wherever you might be, it's just another game.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
I agree, because first of all, you can't hear sometimes,
and I don't want to be around people smoking.
Speaker 9 (23:36):
No, if it's the press.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Box, you know, it's it's just not as comfortable.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
I was credential for twenty six Super Bowls, okay, but
I only stayed for like a couple of those games.
Speaker 9 (23:48):
The first experience.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
No, it's it's funny, Steve, before we get out of here,
my first And the Raiders hated me when I said this.
Speaker 9 (23:53):
In fact, someone very high up with the Raiders.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
It's because we were when I was at ESPN, we
were talking about our super Bowl memories and I said,
my favorite super Ball. The game was terrible, but the
week was great. It was the Raiders Bucks. Yeah, the
Bucks won.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
You know, it was right in my backyard in San Diego.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Yeah, we were at the gas Lamp and for the
game was great. So the Raiders heard this and they said,
what do you mean it was your favorite super Bowl?
What are you talking about?
Speaker 9 (24:15):
It was it terrible?
Speaker 3 (24:16):
You know, they got blown out. I was like, well,
you didn't listen to me. I said it was my
favorite week. I said the game sucked. I said the
week was great because the weather was great. Best super
Bowl in my life. I got to tell you, as
you know from living out in southern California, it doesn't
get better than that.
Speaker 9 (24:28):
The stadium was awful, awful.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Well, you know what happened in ninety eight.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
Ninety eight, they had the first of the back to
back wins for the Broncos when they beat upset the Packers,
and everyone just rained about San Diego, And of course
I was doing my broadcast from there, and they're like,
you guys have the best mass transit system ever.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
I'm like, what mass trends? I didn't even know when
San Diego.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
But the league, the League told them, look, we love
your city. Everyone loves San Diego, but you're going to
have to upgrade that stadium. And when they showed up
five years later, they're like, you didn't and that was
the end of it and unfortunate it will never be
another Super Bowl San Diego.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
Well, enjoy your time.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Are you gonna Are you gonna be with us next Saturday?
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Absolutely?
Speaker 9 (25:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Are you going to still there? Are you going to
be high woman?
Speaker 9 (25:13):
I will be in my office.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
Actually yeah, my flight could send it for eastern, so
I'll be unless it gets to late, I'll be back.
So looking forward to talking to you, and we have
a little bit more information for you on injuries and
the way it looks, and you know, I'll give you
a by the way, because I've talked about two hundred
people for Sports Square, I have to interview about seventy people.
So I'll give you all their opinions and everything that
I saw. It'd be a great week.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Beautiful. All right, you're the best and we always appreciate
Thanks so much.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
That's Adam Kaplan, our Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Now let's find out what is trendy.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
Martin is in the house, the man that just gools
down every job.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
You're here last week for Monsey, didn't it all? You know,
when you're a woman, you have a weekend birthday.
Speaker 9 (25:57):
You know.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
Yet, well we were talking about this.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
You know, most guys we get like barely any acknowledgment
for our birthdays.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
I really I'm the one.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
To acknowledge it, just so you know, I I acknowledge it,
not on somebody else's acknowledging.
Speaker 9 (26:11):
Can can I sip?
Speaker 8 (26:12):
In?
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Yes, Mary Mack.
Speaker 6 (26:14):
The real deal is that men don't even like to
celebrate the hour that they're born.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
That's really what it is, the hour that we are born.
We're great. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Well, look at my birthday is a holiday, it's the
fourth of July. But the worst is rich Ornberger. His
birthday's Valentine's Day. Yeah, I guy, that is the worst day.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
To have a birthday, right.
Speaker 6 (26:35):
To talk well partly but also too. You know, hey,
if you forget, you know, it's my freaking birthday.
Speaker 2 (26:41):
Yeah, you owe me gifts, gifts, you get nothing.
Speaker 6 (26:46):
The brash coach Matt Rule says the Cornhuskers will likely
cancel this season's spring game and an effort to keep
other schools from seeing a players. After last year's spring game,
six players transferred out of the program. The Baltimore Banner
reported today the three additional massage therapists are now accusing
Baltimore Ravens Kicker of Justin Tucker of sexually inappropriate behavior.
(27:08):
On Thursday, the Banner reported that six other massage therapists
accused Tucker of sexually inappropriate behavior. All nine alleges that
the misconduct occurred between twenty twelve and twenty sixteen. Regarding
these latest allegations, Tucker's attorneys referred back to Tucker's social
media post on Thursday, in which he said he quote
did not act inappropriately before, during, or after a treatment session.
(27:29):
In college basketball, Number one Auburn beat Number twenty three
Old Miss ninety two to eighty two. Kansas State upset
third ranked Iowa State eighty to sixty one, eighth ranked
Tennessee upset fifth rank Florida sixty four to forty four.
Games in progress right now, USC has a sixty eight
to sixty one lead over seventh ranked to Michigan State,
(27:50):
who's nine to zero in the Big Ten with thirty
seconds left in the game. So it looks like Mischigan
State's about to lose their first conference game, third game
on the year, unless they have a miraculous come back.
With eleven minutes left in the first half, Texas Tech
has a twenty one to twenty lead over Houston Monty
and Steve back to you, Monty, welcome back.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
I'm a little upset about that USC score because UCLA
plays Michigan State this week.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
That was sort of a CLI is suddenly on a roll.
Now they won five in.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
A row after losing four in a row, and this
was their marquee game. Is their next game against Michigan State.
But SC looks like they're spoiling the party by knocking
them off early. It's gonna be angry, tom Izzo. They'll
be ready into Polly, They'll be ready. Okay, good stuff.
Once again, Thank you very much, Martin, We are coming
you live from the tai Iraq dot com studios. We
(28:40):
got basketball talk coming up. Absolutely, we are we are there.
Once the Super Bowl is over, we'll turn the page
as we normally do and get focused on the NBA season,
and of course, March Madness is around the corner.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Around the corner, I get a little more excited.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
Well, my you know, last year UCLA missed the tournament,
and if my school is not in the two tournament,
it's really hard for me to follow the college basketball season.
But now the Ruins are on a roll after losing
four in a row, so they won five in a row.
They just blew out Oregon the other night. Looked really good.
So I'm gonna excite it and I get ready for
the basketball. By the way, speaking of basketball, the All
(29:18):
Star team reserves were announced. And if you don't know
about Monci, she is a true blue die hard, always
has been, always will be Clippers. And Norman Powell when
he played at UCLA, nobody projected Norman Powell to even
(29:43):
play in the NBA. I mean, he was a guy,
he was a good player. You could see some improvement
in his game. But the idea that Norman Powell was
going to you know, have an extended career in the NBA,
much less be the leading scorer this year for the clip.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
And I was hoping, hoping, hoping with.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
Kawhi out that, you know, this would be a great
story that Norman Powell makes the All Star Team. But
they decided and the Clippers deserved representation, and they went
with the bear James Harden, who, by the way, I
think it's been what three or four years since he's
been on the All Star Team.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
And you were not I remember this whole hardened deal.
You were like why.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
I just was like, he's not gonna make the team
better or get to the next step.
Speaker 5 (30:30):
And a boy, was.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
I wrong, because James Harden has really turned a leaf
that I was not expecting when he joined the Clippers,
and it's just been refreshing to see. So my bad
for being wrong on that one. But he's making players
around him better. And Norman Powell, even before he came
to the Clippers, right as a as an NBA player,
you were just like, oh, he's solid, like he's good.
And when we got him, I was like, Okay, he's
(30:53):
gonna be a great role player. I did not expect
Norman Powell to be the Norman Powell that we have
right now. He James Harden, Ofvitzu Zuba, the three of them.
I've always thought that the Clippers needed to use of
Eatsa Zubats more through the offense, like let.
Speaker 5 (31:06):
It go through him.
Speaker 4 (31:07):
But the way James Harden has helped him blossom is
just beautiful. Like we talked about it against Victor I Banyama,
you would have thought Wemby would have more rebounds than
Avitza Zubats but no, Avita Zubats wasn't twenty in the twenties, twenty.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
Two rebounds in the game against Wemby, and it's not
the only.
Speaker 5 (31:26):
Game this season that has had over twenty rebounds.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
The irony of courses the Lakers, as we by the way,
the Trey deadline is coming up on Thursday, or desperate
to get a center, they gave Zubats away, literally ended
him to the Clippers very very half season rental.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Yes, that turned out to be nothing.
Speaker 4 (31:46):
And also have you seen how ripped Kawhi Leonard looks? Yes,
he's like shredded right now.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Well, here's the good news for the Clippers.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
They're eight and two in games he has played The
problem is he needs to play in the postseason.
Speaker 5 (31:58):
That's really what matters.
Speaker 7 (32:00):
You know.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
I call me crazy because I know the definition of
insanity is doing the same thing over and over again.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
I'm believing it. This year. He's going to be healthy.
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
We've got it now. It wasn't just Norman Powell they
got bypassed. I mean, you look at Trey Young, you
look at Sabonis de.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
One, Devin Booker. I mean, there's a lot of guys.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
Seven of the top twenty scorers in the NBA didn't
make the team. But here's my attitude about that, because
I guess Booker was hitting. Maybe we should expand the
rosters because technically NBA rosters are fifteen, and for the
All Star Game it's twelve. And I'm like, no, no, no,
no no. It has been twelve forever, and it makes
(32:43):
it special. That's what being selected to an All Star
team should be. If you keep expanding the rosters, it
lessens the stature of being selected to an All Star.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
Game, and then the stars play less and less minutes,
and that's not what you wanted in all.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Well, now we're going to have this new format where
we're gonna have like a semi final name.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
Yeah, China.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
The games don't matter.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
The selection does matter because obviously it's something you put
on your resume. Could have implications down the road as
far as the Hall of Fame and everything else. But no,
do not expand the All Star roshers. Obviously, if there's
an injury, the commissioner steps in and I'll announce a replacement.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
Which is probably gonna happen with Anthony Davis because he's
hurt and they said he wasn't gonna come.
Speaker 5 (33:29):
I think the original timeline was passed.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
Well, he's out for the rest of their road trip,
but they haven't there. He's out indefinitely exactly, so there
could be an opening down the road, all right, Okay.
Speaker 5 (33:40):
Nike them a center.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
So on the other side.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
You will hear this nowhere else because I have inside information. Thursday,
they'll announce the season awards in the NFL, but also
the Hall of Fame Class of twenty twenty five for
the Pro Football Hall of Fame. I know who made
the cut to the final cut, and I know who missed.
(34:08):
I can I can guarantee you who will not be
in the Hall of Fame. And I'm going to share
it where there are audience that our audience will hear
it only right here on Fox Football Saturday.
Speaker 7 (34:24):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot Com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
Steve Harban, Monci Belagos Here Fox Football Saturday. We are
coming you live from the tai Raq dot com studios. Well,
I know a lot of people listen to our show
around the country, mostly for Moncy, and that's okay.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
I have no problem with that at all.
Speaker 9 (34:55):
True.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
I love Moncey and your knowledge.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
You're just a sponge of information.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Well, I mean, you know you've been around forever that
type of thing.
Speaker 5 (35:06):
But that doesn't matter. I just you know, the way
you retain information and details.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
And listening tea is since my dad we used to
listen to you and I was a little kid.
Speaker 2 (35:15):
Okay, that's great.
Speaker 5 (35:17):
Well, I get told that too about you when they.
Speaker 1 (35:19):
The one advantage of being in this business a long
time is you make a lot of friends, hopefully over
the years make a few enemies of you. Yeah, you
got them on both sides. But I know a lot
of people that are directly involved. Everyone knows about my
obsession with history of sports and everything else, and Hall
of Fame goes with the history of a game, right,
(35:40):
That's why I'm into Hall of Fame. So, okay, the
Pro Football Hall of Fame. There's no perfect Hall of Fame. Okay,
let's let's make that clear. But the Pro Football Hall
of Fame, I think does it the best in the
fact that they have a limited amount of selectors and
they actually discuss before they make their votes sort of.
You know, maybe you say something that I was sort
(36:02):
of on the fence one way or the other, and
maybe you convinced me to go a certain way.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
So I think at least there's an open discussion.
Speaker 1 (36:09):
Like in baseball, they just everyone just mails in a ballot, right, right,
there's no group discussion, but there isn't the Pro Football
Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
So the way it.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
Works is you hear and I'm not going to count
the senior candidates or the coach candidate. That's separate. But
the modern version they have fifteen finalists, which they've already
announced publicly, and the way they've done it in the
past is they have fifteen finalists. They'll take a vote
and cut the list from fifteen to ten, and then
they'll do another vote to get it from ten to
five and then ninety nine percent of the time, those
(36:41):
five all make it.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Into the Hall. And that's what we've seen in recent years.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
So this year they decided to do it a little
bit different and they've already had the vote to get
down to the final seven. Now, I'm not going to
tell you who actually has made the Hall of Fame
because to be honest with you, I don't know, but
I definitely know who will not.
Speaker 5 (37:02):
And that's more interesting be.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
In the Hall of Fame class of twenty twenty five
because they did not make the cut to the final
sep So who.
Speaker 5 (37:12):
Yes, thank you Mary, I was like, who did not?
Speaker 1 (37:16):
Okay, well, there really is one name above all others.
This individual will not be a part of the Pro
Football Hall of Fame Class of twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (37:29):
And this is one hundred percent certain.
Speaker 8 (37:33):
The tension is so high, right, I know he's dragging
this out.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
And this person might be listening right now.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
And by the way, if you don't want to hear this,
because this will be announced on Thursday, so I should
have a disclaim.
Speaker 4 (37:46):
Yes, yes, okay, so there's not information that's out yet.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
Not a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame
Class of twenty twenty five is.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
Eli Manning?
Speaker 9 (37:59):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (38:00):
Ah, yeah, Eli Manning did not make the cut, which,
to be honest with you, and by the way, I
had a chance to spend a little time with Eli
years ago. He is exactly who you hope he's gonna be.
He is the most down to earth, wonderful guy. Can't
say that about his brother.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
But I will say, Oh, I know the Cooper seems
like a good guy. But Matt Peyton guy, I'm not sure.
But Eli is exactly who he seems like.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
Okay, and I love the guy and I and I'm
going to guess down the road he will have his day.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
But he was not and should not have been a
first ballot Hall of Famer.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
So so Eli Manning will not be part of the
Hall of Fame Class of twenty twenty five.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
That is one hundred percent certain.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
I will give you, though, three names of those that
I believe, even though I don't know for certain the
final vote. Okay, but there's there are three players that
I I'm almost one hundred percent, sir.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
Who are the three that you're almost one hundred percent
are in.
Speaker 1 (39:05):
That will be part of the Class of twenty twenty five.
These will be part of the Class of twenty twenty five.
We'll start with the obvious. Should have been a first
ballot Guy Antonio Gates. Antonio Gates will be a member
of the Class of twenty twenty five. Another will be
in the Class of twenty twenty five. Is Tory Holt
(39:25):
greatest show on turf rams back in the day. A
lot of his teammates are already in the hall. Tory
Holt will finally get into the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
And one more, one more he's been close to the last
couple of years. This will be his year. Jared Allen.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
Jared Allen Allen, Yes, former Viking, former chief on the
Great Class Chief.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Those three will be in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 5 (39:50):
And this is your gut telling you that that is.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
More than my gun, more than your gun. Those three
are go. Look at Patrick's all excited about Jared exact
dances so good. Yes, it one of the greats, and
he was, you know, Dwight Freeney sort of snuck in
ahead of him.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
And so sometimes it's sort of a you have to
wait your turn a little bit.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
So those are those are three guys that will be.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
In right and uh Eli Manning is gonna have to
wait for another.
Speaker 5 (40:19):
Year wait his turn.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
Yes I have older names, but we'll save him maybe
for tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (40:24):
Oh much more coming up here on Fox Football Saturday,
run along, eight days away from the big game. Eagles cheez,
and we got it all covered for you Here on
Fox Football Saturday, We're broadcasting live from the ti raq
dot com studios, tire rag dot com. We're gonna help
get you there, and I'm mattch Selection fast free shipping,
(40:46):
free road azerd protection, over ten thousand recommended installers, tire
rack dot com, the way tire buying should be. So yeah,
the Chiefs and the Eagles arenna be landing in New Orleans.
It really is crazy the first several days for those
teams because you have to deal with the media all
(41:09):
the way up until through Thursday, and then Friday they
lay off you and then you get a couple of
days to get your breath. That's why the weeks they've
had at home, these last weeks are so important to
get the game plan and really everything's set because you.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
Got to deal with it.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
And here's the thing about this game between the Chiefs
and the Eagles, and I think the Eagles are going
to win this game. In fact that not only do
I think the Eagles are going to win this game,
I don't think it's going to be particularly close. Wowart
Man and I say that because for some of the
reasons we talked about. You know, they had the best
running back in the league. They had the number one
ranked defense in the league. They have the number one
(41:45):
rank pass defense in the league. But more important than
any of that, they're not strangers to the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Sure, so they've been.
Speaker 1 (41:52):
There, and again, if you watch the game, I know
the NFL network is replaying Super Bowl fifty seven, it
was a very it was great game, you know, all
the way to the end. So they're not going to
be overwhelmed by the idea that we're at the super Bowl.
They know what the process is. They've been there, they've
done that, and they're going against the Chiefs team that
they know they can definitely go toe to toe with.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
So we'll get.
Speaker 1 (42:14):
Obviously more into that tomorrow. We got next Saturday. We
got a lot of things to get to with that.
I do want to take a little detour for a
second here. You know, during the break there, we were
hearing Dan Patrick making some comments about the Bronnie James situation.
By the way, if you listen to this show, the
first major reaction to any comment made about Bronnie James
(42:36):
here at Fox Sports Radio came on this program.
Speaker 5 (42:39):
It sure did.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
It was when he was in his very first Summer
league game, and I basically said, look, the Lakers had
just had the introductory press conference and they had made
the point that he had earned this, and I'm like, okay,
let's let's remind ourselves again that Bronnie James and his
senior year at Sierra Canyon High School, which is a
(43:02):
very high end high school, private high school, he made
second team All League his senior year. Not All City,
not all conference, none of that. All league, and yet
he was a McDonald's All American. I mean McDonald's All American.
Is that rarefied air for guys that are like the
dominant players of their cities or whatever. He was maybe
(43:26):
the third best team on his high school team. And
yet and it was you know, again, second team All league,
and he's a McDonald's All American.
Speaker 2 (43:37):
So it wasn't about that.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
The reason that if you remember, during that draft second round,
they had the cameras inside the war room of the
Lakers and when they were high fiving, why Lebron had
yet to sign his extension with the team, so they
knew by drafting Bronni Lebron would sign his extension, which
he did. But you know, we've been talking about his
(44:02):
one for sixteen start to his career, right and that
game against the Sixers and afterwards, it was really weird,
like JJ Reddick was, you know, admitting, yeah, he played lousy.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
Why was he in in the first half. I mean
this was a game that.
Speaker 5 (44:17):
You know, it was still close, like he was still
in it.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
The Sixers are down two of their stars. I mean,
this is a game you need to win, correct And
they could have They could have, yes, I mean they
had Maxi and that's it, yep.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
And you brought him in the game and he just
was overwhelmed, which is not a shock. And the Lakers
end up losing that game, and there was no explanation
for why he was on the court. I cannot believe
Monci that that decision was JJ Reddick's decision.
Speaker 4 (44:49):
I I mean I think a lot of the decisions
surrounding Brownie James haven't been necessarily just JJ Reddick. Obviously,
there's a lot of influence from Lebron and the people
around him. You know, he's had a few really good
games in the G League, but that doesn't mean anything.
Speaker 5 (45:07):
Nothing, That means nothing.
Speaker 4 (45:08):
And so to see him out there against the seventy
six Ers, because we're gonna get to that Wizard's game
where the it was a blowout in favor of the Lakers.
So in that game, him going out there, You're like, okay,
but that Sixers game, it made you kind of scratch
your head. It's like, why did you do this? I
am with you, And even ad minute after that he
didn't play well. So then why are we putting this
(45:29):
guy out there?
Speaker 1 (45:29):
Okay, let's let's again. Remember Bronnie is a great kid.
Oh yeah, a great kid. And as I said months ago,
I root for this kid. I mean, if somehow, some
way he can go from being a second team All
League player all the way to actually a bonafid NBA player,
more power to him. And by all accounts, Lebron is
(45:50):
a great father. I mean he supports his son. I
mean I have two sons myself, I have a daughter.
Speaker 2 (45:56):
I know what it's like. You know, my kids are
actually older than his kids. But you mentioned the Wizards game.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
And by the way, the NBA, when you have a
team that's six and forty one writing a sixteen game
losing streak.
Speaker 5 (46:12):
Send them to the G League. Yeah, send them to
the G league.
Speaker 1 (46:15):
There are too many teams in the NBA. This is
not a this There aren't There aren't enough good players
for thirty competitive teams. Not even close.
Speaker 4 (46:28):
Okay, not to I know we're still on Brownie, But
is it that or is it that I genuinely feel
like there are players NBA players who are just happy
to be playing basketball.
Speaker 5 (46:39):
No, they're happy, care about winning.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
There's too many teams, Like, there's too many teams. I
remember this league when there were twelve teams. I mean
people always say, well, g you know Bill Russell, he
couldn't win today. Bill Russell was winning championships when there
were eight teams. Imagine if you took the current NBA
(47:02):
and went from thirty teams to eight.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
Oh, how good would those eight teams be?
Speaker 5 (47:08):
Oh, it would be a great league.
Speaker 2 (47:09):
Every team would be an all.
Speaker 4 (47:10):
Star team, every team, and it would be a competitive one.
Speaker 1 (47:13):
So the more you expand, the more you water down
the talent. And so yeah, I even on great teams
are guys that are out there just collecting a paycheck
when you're making zillions of dollars. But that's not why
they're not competitive. They're not competitive because there aren't enough
good players to go around.
Speaker 5 (47:30):
You're not wrong in the sense that you're right.
Speaker 4 (47:32):
It's watered down because there are too many teams and
maybe the talent isn't enough.
Speaker 5 (47:36):
To go around.
Speaker 4 (47:36):
But more and more we just see like everyone's like
buddy buddy in that like you know, mamba mentality, that
like killer instinct of like I want to beat your
you know what on the court. I don't see it anymore.
Like you know, I play volleyball on Tuesdays. I am
so mad when we lose, Like you would think I
was playing for a gold medal, and I get so
mad and I wish.
Speaker 5 (47:57):
I didn't, But I can't help that feeling. These guys
I don't even have to care.
Speaker 1 (48:01):
Well then, and then there's the camaraderie thing, the idea
of high fiving with your opponents. As a fan, Yeah,
as a fan, you're like, I hate that team. I
want the players on my team to hate that team
the way I hate that team, but they don't. I mean,
it's a different game, all right, So I can't Getting
back to Bronni, So you mentioned the game against the Wizards,
(48:23):
and you should almost put.
Speaker 2 (48:25):
Anything you do in a game against the Wizards should
have an asterisk stock because you're not actually playing an
NBA team. Actually well you're not. They It should be
like a separate stat you know, versus NBA versus the Wizards. Okay,
So anyway, in this game that the Lakers won by.
Speaker 1 (48:44):
Forty, they bring in So at this point, Bronni was
one for sixteen in his NBA career shooting.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
Okay, one for sixteen, that's six percent shooting. So he
came in.
Speaker 1 (48:55):
He actually scored five points, and he was at the
free throw line, and the Wizards fans mockingly were chanting MVP,
and they show Lebron on the bench laughing, and look,
I'm a Lebron fan, but as a father, when I
(49:15):
have opposing fans mocking my son, I'm not laughing.
Speaker 2 (49:24):
I'm like, this is this has gone from.
Speaker 1 (49:27):
Bad to worse, and my son's getting humiliated here, and
I don't I don't know how Lebron could be laughing
during that because obviously they're mocking his son by the
MVP chant as a father, I really, I really had
(49:50):
a hard time with that.
Speaker 4 (49:51):
I feel that some people did not think that he
was being mocked.
Speaker 1 (49:55):
Oh really, they thought that they were legitimately, I really
do chanting that he's the m.
Speaker 4 (50:00):
Or doing it out of a place of hey, you're
Lebron's son, We're gonna yell MVP. I genuinely think some
people thought that. I thought, well, you thought that he
was being made fun of, And when I see him
was being made fun he was being made fun of.
And I did see Lebron's reaction. I was like, Lebron,
do you not understand what's happening right now? He's a
punching bag. He's a punching bag in this arena. They're
(50:23):
getting the Wizards are getting their butts kicked, but your
son is the punching bag.
Speaker 1 (50:27):
The fact that they keep bringing him back to play
these here's what the first game, the historic time that
Lebron and his summer on the court together, that should
have been the end of it. I would have just
taken Bronny, put him in the G League, and you're
gonna stay there.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
Right, You may stay there for a couple of years.
Speaker 1 (50:47):
You will never see another NBA game until we feel
like you are competitive at this level, because we don't
want you to be humiliated. We don't want you to
be uh, you know, basically mocked by people, because now
everybody's talking about your son in a negative sense. It's
not personal. Everyone's saying positive things about Bronnie the person,
(51:11):
but the idea that he is in the NBA taking
a roster spot away from somebody obviously is far more
deserving of being there that the only reason he's there.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
The only reason is because of his father.
Speaker 1 (51:25):
And as a father, you can't recognize this, You can't
recognize how this has to sit. Can you imagine? I mean,
we know there's nepotism and businesses all over the place,
and a lot of times it doesn't end well. It
just doesn't end well because you're in the shadow of
your father. But this on a stage like the NBA,
when your father is the most famous basketball player on
(51:47):
the planet, why are you putting your son through This
just doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 4 (51:53):
Because it's like you said, Bronnie should have stayed in
the Giligue. Bronnie should have stayed in college. Yes he should,
That's what he should have done.
Speaker 1 (52:00):
He didn't even have a because of exactly the hard situation.
Speaker 2 (52:04):
Everything else. He barely played in his one year of college.
Speaker 4 (52:08):
So it's hard to really not look at lebron and
not see this as such a selfish move because he
wanted to play with the sun. He wanted to say that,
it's impossible to not look at it.
Speaker 5 (52:20):
And I'm with you.
Speaker 4 (52:21):
It's like, Bronny, nobody dislikes you as a person, but
you are on a roster, you are getting paid millions
of dollars. You are a fair game to be criticized,
especially when you play for the Lakers. If you're playing
for the Wizards, maybe it's a different conversation because again,
there's probably be in the G League at some point.
Speaker 2 (52:37):
Lebron just has to say this.
Speaker 5 (52:39):
Is but there's no I don't think that point's ever coming.
Speaker 2 (52:41):
Apparently not. I don't think that's bringing them back.
Speaker 1 (52:45):
And they keep setting him out there and it's just like,
oh my, but I'm with you.
Speaker 5 (52:49):
How could you allow this? If you carry I.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Could never do that. I just could not do that.
Speaker 5 (52:53):
I agree at this point.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
I mean, to me, the low point came in this
Wizard's game when they were mockingly chanting.
Speaker 4 (53:01):
Yes, because I'm with you, it's you thought maybe it
couldn't get worse, and then it was worse.
Speaker 5 (53:06):
It actually got worse in Washington.
Speaker 2 (53:08):
It got way worse.
Speaker 5 (53:09):
It got way worse.
Speaker 1 (53:11):
I just put that aside, all right, on the much
more positive side. Yeah, we got a big game coming
up in eight days, and I want to get into
the guy at the top of the mountain right now
in the NFL, and that's Patrick Mahomes. What is it
about Patrick Mahomes that has separated him from everybody else?
Speaker 2 (53:34):
We'll break it down. This is Fox Football Saturday. Wow,
there you go.
Speaker 4 (53:42):
My brother's dog is named Lola, and I sing this
to her all the time.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
Uh my name dog's name is.
Speaker 4 (53:50):
Sing this to her because I only sing this to her. Yeah,
I literally sing this song.
Speaker 2 (53:55):
Yes she is.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
She's a handfeld all right. By the way, Fox of
Football Saturday. Here Steve Hartman moontse Belanyas with you live
from the Tirech dot Com studis, and don't forget after
the show, our podcast is going up.
Speaker 2 (54:09):
So if you miss any of today's show, check out
the podcast.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
Just search Fox Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts,
follow rate, and review the podcast. Again, just search Fox
Sports Radio wherever you get your.
Speaker 2 (54:18):
Podcasts, and you'll see this show posted right after we
get off the air. The Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (54:25):
For much of their history, really were insignificant in the NFL.
They had some moments, you know, where, they had some
decent players, decent teams, I mean every team does. They
didn't win Super Bowl four. They appeared in the first
Super Bowl before it was actually called a Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (54:43):
It was the AFL NFL Championship Game. Great Hanks Stram
was the coach of those teams. Lynn Dawson, Hall of Famer,
was the quarterback. And that all changed when Annie Reid
showed up.
Speaker 1 (54:57):
And then you bring in Patrick Mahomes and you never know, right,
you never know. It's funny because we just had Jaden
Daniels became the seventh rookie quarterback to get to the
conference championship.
Speaker 2 (55:13):
Game and they all lost.
Speaker 1 (55:15):
And it's sort of weird because Tom Brady and Kurt
Warner technically were second year quarterbacks when they won their
Super Bowls. Each of them played exactly one game as
a rookie, you know, like you know, taking a knee,
you know, lady game, So technically they weren't rookies, you know,
and they won super Bowls, right. Patrick Mahomes was the
(55:38):
same way. He played in one game ironically his rookie year.
It was the last game he sort of subbed in
for Alex Smith. And so you had these quarterbacks who
not rookies, you know, technically technically, Now again, Malmes didn't
win his first Super Bowl the first ride.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
Obviously they lost the New England. Then they won that
first Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (56:02):
But we're now talking about a quarterback who is seventeen
and three in the postseason. And you know, in the beginning,
I thought, okay, he has a great advantage. He has
Tyreek Hill, who at the time is the most dangerous
receiver in the league, and he has the best tide
in the league in Travis Kelsey.
Speaker 2 (56:20):
So you know, like that's a big plus for this quarterback.
Speaker 1 (56:24):
But you know, Tyreek Hill left and I made the
bold prediction You've seen the last of the Chiefs, because
you know, pick your poison, then we're going to double
up on Tyreek kill are going to double up on Kelsey.
Now they can fold it, you know, focus on Kelsey. Well,
he hasn't lost a Super Bowl since, so he's two
for two without Tyreek Hill. And now the Chiefs are
(56:45):
the first team ever to win back to back Super
Bowls and actually get to the Super Bowl Game in
an effort to win a third straight Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (56:54):
Yeah, you weren't the only one that thought once Tyreek
Hill that it was going to be a difference in canon.
Speaker 4 (56:59):
You know, weren't the only several people thought that because,
like you said, you lost the fastest man on the field,
and yeah, you're gonna have another weapon. But now the coverage,
everybody knows it's Travis Kelce, even though we have literally.
Speaker 5 (57:11):
Watched and said, here, how are you not covering Travis Kelce?
You know the ball's gonna go to him, and yet
you're not covering him and he catches the ball.
Speaker 4 (57:17):
So I don't know what it is, but like to me,
when I watch Patrick Mahomes, I see a Steph Curry
like athlete.
Speaker 5 (57:26):
That they make it look easy.
Speaker 4 (57:28):
And two three years ago when they played the Eagles,
I just was like the Eagles looked a little rigid
in comparison to how the Chiefs looked like.
Speaker 5 (57:36):
They were not fancy, they weren't flashy.
Speaker 4 (57:39):
They just ran the ball and they moved the ball slowly,
but they took up time. And the Chiefs were flashy
and quote unquote fun. And so now with this matchup,
I know you're taking the Eagles to win. I'm taking
the Chiefs to win. But the Eagles are a completely
different team. Even though there's only a couple of added pieces,
they have really evault from that the team was two
(58:02):
three years ago.
Speaker 1 (58:03):
Well, let's go back to the Eagles winning their last
Super Bowl seven years ago. They're going up against Tom
Brady right with their backup quarterback Nick Foles, and you're like, okay,
well this is not a fair matchup because they got
their backup quarterback going against Tom Brady, and they not
only won that game, they won that game convincingly. Doun
(58:23):
Peterson out Coach Belichick in that game. And that's why
I look at this Eagles team. I'm not the biggest
Nick Sirianni fans. He's a goofball by all accounts.
Speaker 5 (58:34):
Goofball that's putting it nicely.
Speaker 2 (58:36):
But I am a believer in Jalen Hurts.
Speaker 1 (58:39):
So I know that Jalen Hurts has had an uneven season,
but you know it's Elsa had an uneven season.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (58:47):
These two quarterbacks are not in the Pro Bowl, and
so you look at their play and then you say,
but when the games on the line, the games that
actually matter, both these guys step up up.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
What I see from Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (59:03):
Is it's not necessarily him and all the things he does,
and it always seems like he's not a running quarterback,
but when he runs, it's always a big run, like
a game changer, right, But he just instantly makes players better.
Speaker 2 (59:19):
This was Tom Brady.
Speaker 1 (59:20):
Tom Brady, Yeah he had Gronk, but wide receiver, he
had a revolving door.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
I mean he had that one super year with Randy Moss.
Speaker 1 (59:27):
But Chilian Edelman, Julian Edelman was a college quarterback who
was you know, Wes Welker who was cut by the Charger.
Speaker 2 (59:37):
These are guys that were just guys who became stars
because of their quarterback. And I wasn't sure if Mahomes
was that because of the Tyreek Hill situation. Well since
Tyree over the last couple of years, they've had a
revolving door of wide receivers. Yeah, he's got his, he's
got his tight end, he's got his Gronk, he's got
his Kelsey. But these wide receivers and the running backs,
(01:00:00):
you know, I mean it's you know, Kareem Hunt. Kareem
Hunt got from the dead.
Speaker 5 (01:00:05):
Yes, literally literally, they're not.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
Really all that great at the skill positions, and Kelsey
certainly on the downside of his career, and yet they
continue to win.
Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
And this comes down to your quarterback.
Speaker 1 (01:00:17):
This is why I have said when people say, well,
how many franchise quarterbacks are there in the.
Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
NFL, there's one one one.
Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
Even this Bills game, You're watching that game and the
Bills are hanging in, but you almost had a sense
like the Bills know we're not going to win this game,
even though they're tying up the game.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
And you know, by the way, how about this, I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
It was like playoff teams that have scored at least
four touchdowns in a game with zero turnovers had only
lost twice ever, and both of them were the Bills
at Kansas City. So the Bills had no turnovers, they
scored four touch at least four touchdowns and they still lost.
It was like inevitable, it doesn't matter what we do,
(01:01:02):
we're going to lose this game. And that is the
way it used to be with the Patriots, but even
more pronounced, at least early on in his career with
Patrick Mahonmes.
Speaker 5 (01:01:12):
Yeah, Mahomes protects the ball also in a way where
you're not worried about it. You're not worried that he
is going to turn the ball over.
Speaker 2 (01:01:20):
But he did turn the ball, and he did.
Speaker 5 (01:01:22):
But the Chiefs themselves, right, don't turn the ball over.
They just don't. They're very disciplined. And if you're gonna
beat them, you have to play better than perfect. And
that's hard to do.
Speaker 4 (01:01:33):
It's impossible, but you almost have to play better than perfect.
Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
One of the things I also want to mention is this,
And when we talk about everyone's scream about officials favoring
the Chiefs and everything else, winners get favorable calls.
Speaker 2 (01:01:46):
They do the NBA from day one. Yep, star players
get calls. Yeah, they always have. I remember Magic Johnson
would drive down the middle. It'd be like Party of
the Red Sea. No one's even near him. He'd lay
at him. They blow the whistle and just like pick
somebody you close to him. Yeah, but he's Magic Johnson.
Speaker 8 (01:02:07):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:02:07):
So the NBA for years has been giving calls to
certain players. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
Yeah, So the idea that a guy like Mahomes, just
like Brady back in the day, you know, they will
get the benefit of the doubt.
Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
And you know my answer to that is they've earned it.
Speaker 5 (01:02:24):
Yeah. But I will tell you one thing about Mahomes
that I don't like.
Speaker 4 (01:02:28):
But what are you gonna do? He's within the rules.
He pushes the boundary of the rule. When he's running
down the sideline. He pretends like he's either gonna slide
or get out of bounds, and then he doesn't. And
because of the rules, pretecting the quarterback where they're.
Speaker 5 (01:02:43):
Afraid to hit.
Speaker 2 (01:02:43):
So he understands the rules.
Speaker 4 (01:02:44):
But he's still he's still I think he manipulates it
too much.
Speaker 1 (01:02:51):
Tom Brady was so notorious of picking up those fifty
yard pass interference calls by purposely underthrowing passes deep, yes,
so that the defender would have to come back and
hit the receiver. And he got that call every single time.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
Right, you're giving me a taste of my own hate
the game, not the player.
Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
Well, then change the rules right or I've.
Speaker 4 (01:03:14):
Literally said not that I not not bounty game, but
I've been like, if I am playing against Mahomes, I
would tell my players hit him out of bout get
the flag, but make him stop.
Speaker 5 (01:03:23):
Make him stop.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
See back in the old days, the Raiders like, Okay,
if I'm gone to get a penalty, I'm going to
end his game.
Speaker 5 (01:03:30):
Which is not what I'm saying, but I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:03:32):
Going and his game will be over and I will
get a penalty and he's out of the game.
Speaker 5 (01:03:37):
He's out of the game. I would just to be like,
don't play with us right now.
Speaker 1 (01:03:41):
So all right, well we'll break that all down, but
first let's find out what is trending right now. He
is the president of the Patrick Mahomes Fan Club, Is
he is it? I know you're not, but I was
just it was sort of like the mocking MVP chant
for Brownie James.
Speaker 6 (01:04:00):
Oh, by the way, Manci, there's no way that's like complimentary.
Speaker 5 (01:04:05):
Yeah, I agree, Okay, I thought, oh no, no, no, no.
Speaker 4 (01:04:07):
I was saying that I thought people thought it was
a complimentary thing. I worked that night and some of
the things I saw on Twitter, I was like, no, guys,
they're making fun of him.
Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
Yeah, he was obviously being mocked.
Speaker 6 (01:04:22):
It's almost less than I remember this vividly when Tiger
Woods was in one of his last tournaments that he
participated in. He was like twelve over and everybody was
giving him a round of applause now in the back nine.
And the reason why you do something like that is
because you know that this guy has no shot of
kicking my ass. Yeah, right, like that. That's what the
thing was with Brian. You go MVP because you had
(01:04:43):
no shot at kicking my ass.
Speaker 1 (01:04:45):
See, I'm glad you mentioned the Tiger thing, because I
never thought Tiger Woods actually do that. Nicholas was never
comfortable that a guy like Arnold Palmer, who was non
competitive for like thirty years in these majors and he
would just do the obligatory play a couple of rounds
to get all the applause.
Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
He loved it.
Speaker 1 (01:05:04):
I mean yeah, I mean come on, I mean, when
you're when you're used to, like a tiger, used to
cheer because you do some incredible things, and now you're
just getting the uh yeah, the literal golf.
Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
Clap, the golf clap. Yeah, oh my god.
Speaker 6 (01:05:18):
In the NBA right now, the Indiana Patris with a
one twenty seven to one to twenty five lead over
the Indiana The Indiana Hawks, the Atlanta Hawks. There you go, Pacers,
Indiana Atlanta Hawks. All right, those keeping score at home?
Two point game. Pacers in the lead one twenty seven
to one to twenty five, twenty six seconds left in
the game. Trey Young with thirty four points sixteen assists,
Pascal Sayakam with twenty points and nine rebounds with two
(01:05:41):
in its left in the first quarter, the Nuggets have
a twenty two to eighteen lead over the Charlotte Hornets
and nicolea Jokis with nine points and six rebounds in
the early going. The Baltimore Banner reported today that three
additional massage therapists are now accusing Baltimore Ravens kicker Dustin
Tucker of sexually inappropriate behavior. On Thursday, the Banner iford
that six other massage therapistic hughes Tucker of sexually inappropriate behavior.
(01:06:04):
All nine alleged that the misconduct occurred between twenty twelve
and twenty sixteen. Nebraska coach Matt Rules says the Cornhuskers
will likely cancel this seasons spring game in an effort
to keep other schools from seeing his players. After last
year's spring game, six players transferred from Nebraska In college basketball,
Number one Auburn be twenty three ranked Old Miss ninety
two to eighty two, Kansas State upset upset third ranked
(01:06:27):
Iowa State eighty to sixty one. Eight Tennessee upset fifth
ranked Florida sixty four to forty four, And the Bears
hired Eric b. Enemy as the running back coach back
in the league.
Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Eric b Enemy, good for him, welcome back, Good for him.
It was a rough year at UCLA.
Speaker 9 (01:06:44):
And back to you.
Speaker 6 (01:06:45):
It's been a rough it's been a rough travels for
your boy eb since.
Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
A lot of people thought he might go back to
Kansas City, right, but that didn't happen, did not have
they missed him?
Speaker 5 (01:06:56):
No, I think they're fine.
Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
He's missed them. Yeah to them. Yeah, see that. If
people don't understand, the offensive coordinator for the Chiefs is
Annie Reid. He calls the place, Okay, so you.
Speaker 1 (01:07:12):
Get that title of offensive coordinator or not really the coordinator.
Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
Doug Peterson was the same way. I mean he was
like the offensive court and is like not really not really.
Once again, this is.
Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
Fox Football Saturdays and we're coming to live from the
tirag dot com studios.
Speaker 2 (01:07:28):
All right, I understand it's that time.
Speaker 5 (01:07:33):
I mean, I'm so glad we're doing this today. Don't
you miss it?
Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
I sort of miss it.
Speaker 1 (01:07:39):
I mean I miss it when I get answers right
right right right? They sound good, and then when I
get answers wrong, I don't look at that that way.
Speaker 5 (01:07:47):
Please, you get most of them right?
Speaker 1 (01:07:49):
Well, there are things I know obviously that most people
would never want to know.
Speaker 5 (01:07:54):
Oh yeah, yeah, they're just.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
Some really strange things that I do know.
Speaker 8 (01:07:58):
All right.
Speaker 4 (01:07:59):
Well, also things off, but I think producer Patrick and
I think Martin also has a question for you for
who's your daddy? But I'll start things off, Yes, I'll
start things off. Okay, what player in Major League Baseball
reached two thousand hits the fastest.
Speaker 2 (01:08:15):
You mean at the youngest age, or the.
Speaker 5 (01:08:17):
League games in terms in terms of games.
Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
In terms of games played, in terms.
Speaker 5 (01:08:22):
Of games played, and if you know.
Speaker 4 (01:08:26):
The two heaster passed, or if you have some guesses
we want to go top three, we could do that too.
Speaker 1 (01:08:31):
Okay, all right, so fewest games to get to two
thousand hits. Well, I would think one of them, of
the saying top three, yeah, I would imagine one of
them is each or roh.
Speaker 5 (01:08:43):
No, not in terms of games, it's not each.
Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
It's two hundred and sixty two hit season that he has,
oh yeah, order hits every year.
Speaker 4 (01:08:52):
Not in terms of games games two thousand hits.
Speaker 1 (01:08:55):
Oh wow, Okay, this is this is this is not
going to be easy. Then let's see here, guys, I'm
thinking three thousand. Well, I mean, Ty Cobb, No, what the.
Speaker 4 (01:09:06):
Most current one, the guy that has the record as
a player, and you actually mentioned him today, which was
so funny when you said his name.
Speaker 5 (01:09:14):
We were talking baseball earlier.
Speaker 2 (01:09:17):
You mean Carlo's beltron.
Speaker 5 (01:09:18):
No, we did.
Speaker 4 (01:09:21):
Jose Altuve did it in one thousand, six hundred and thirty.
Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Okay, Okay, I am way off on this one here.
You've never seen the stats, so I'm just I'm just
flying by the seat of mark, and I think it
threw you off, like four thousand hits and all, you know,
like the Pete Roses. But I know he played a
lot of games. So Ty Cobb, no, let's see who
got to two thousand hits?
Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
See three thousand hits, I might know, but two thousand
it's a pretty it's a low bar.
Speaker 4 (01:09:52):
So he surpassed who did he beat Willie Mays who
was the previous record.
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
Holder at one thousand stat by the way.
Speaker 4 (01:10:00):
One thousand, six hundred and sixty nine games, and then
Alex Rodriguez one thousand, six hundred and eighty four games.
Speaker 1 (01:10:08):
Really, and these guys are like faster than Hank Aaron
who in terms of the games.
Speaker 4 (01:10:13):
So I don't know if that bats it would change,
But in terms of games.
Speaker 5 (01:10:16):
Games hoose a one thousand and six.
Speaker 1 (01:10:19):
I could have been here for a month and I
would never have guessed Jose Altuve what hold that record?
I mean, I know he let the league and hit
several times.
Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
Right when I read that, I was like, I guess
it makes sense, but I didn't know either.
Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
Oh well, that's it.
Speaker 1 (01:10:31):
That's that's a legitimate question. I know Martin's gonna have
an illegitimate.
Speaker 5 (01:10:35):
Exactly, but that was a legitimate.
Speaker 1 (01:10:37):
Question that I completely whiffed on. But now I know
I like that. All right, Patrick, what do you got?
Speaker 2 (01:10:43):
All right? Well, Steve, I got another baseball.
Speaker 8 (01:10:46):
One for yeah me Monty on the same same wave, here.
So with that said, Steve, I want to know if
you know, do you know who the first MLB player
is to be traded for himself?
Speaker 5 (01:11:00):
Elf?
Speaker 1 (01:11:02):
I believe the answer to this one.
Speaker 2 (01:11:10):
It was a It was a New York Met player.
He was on the Mets. He was one. He wasn't
just him, but he was on other teams. But he
was a Met.
Speaker 5 (01:11:21):
Yes, he's on he's onto something, he's on something.
Speaker 1 (01:11:24):
Yeah, this is in the early sixties.
Speaker 5 (01:11:30):
Close yeah, closest literally the hamster wheel.
Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
Is I'm trying to get the name. Uh, it's it's
it's one of those traded for a player to be
named later, and then he ends up being the player
to be named later.
Speaker 2 (01:11:46):
Correct, Yes, this is a good question. Was it Hobi Landrath? No,
is not him.
Speaker 8 (01:11:53):
There are also four people that were actually play he
was the this is the first guy, but he's not
among those names.
Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
Oh, let's see here, who is this person that was?
Speaker 1 (01:12:04):
I know when you say the name, I'm gonna just
absolutely kick myself in the head. This is one that
really obscure. But I know this one.
Speaker 8 (01:12:11):
If you guess others, I'll let you know if they
were actually because there were other there were four guys
in total. This guy was the first, and then there's
three others. If you get I'll give you the hey
he was on that list. Oh I I only thought
there was one guy that did this one s anybody
out there have.
Speaker 6 (01:12:27):
This one running the clock out before he gets to me, right, corners,
Dean Smith.
Speaker 8 (01:12:36):
Give me give me the initials. All right, I'll give
you the initials. It is at H, A C, H
and A C. First name H, last name C.
Speaker 2 (01:12:46):
Harry Chitty. Come on, yeah, all right? Does anybody else
know who Harry Chit sounds like a joke. Do I
get some credit for this?
Speaker 3 (01:13:01):
You do?
Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
Because I'm okay?
Speaker 7 (01:13:03):
All right?
Speaker 6 (01:13:04):
There four players in the NBA to record a quadruple double.
Speaker 2 (01:13:07):
Name too.
Speaker 5 (01:13:09):
Nice?
Speaker 6 (01:13:10):
Quadruple double, quadruple double that is double at least double
digits and four statistical categories in the box.
Speaker 2 (01:13:17):
Thurmon, that's one nice October eighteenth, nineteen seventy four. Of course,
it was in his first game as Chicago bull Nate Thurmanent.
Speaker 1 (01:13:28):
Thurman was the first guy to do it because they
didn't keep block shots before the seventy three seeds. When
Will retired, they started counting block shots. Let's see who
else might have done it. I'm gonna guess. This is
just a guess. There's two guys I would guess, but
I'm gonna go with.
Speaker 9 (01:13:46):
He's gonna get Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 6 (01:13:48):
Ideld eighteen points, sixteen rebounds, ten assistant, eleven blocks March
twenty ninth, nineteen ninety against the Golden State Warriors.
Speaker 2 (01:13:56):
Just for fun, Albert Alvin Robinson against the field. So
then roberts great played it.
Speaker 1 (01:14:00):
Robertson Robins, David Robin, Admiral all right, so I got yours,
We'll get started to get credit and Monzi usually I
get your absolutely slaughtered me.
Speaker 5 (01:14:12):
You said al earlier. I was like, oh man, that's good.
Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
I would still would not have guessed that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:19):
On the other side, much more coming up here on
Fox Football Saturday, Steve Harmin, Moncey Belanos Here Fox Football
Saturday Live from the tairaq dot Com studios. I was
just sharing this story with Monsey.
Speaker 2 (01:14:37):
Oh, by the way, we want to thank Martin today
getting ready for his own show coming up here. Mary Mack, Yo,
life is good.
Speaker 5 (01:14:46):
For Mary Mack playing the Jams.
Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
Yeah, she is oh variety in the music. She likes
to sometimes throw some of the old stuff in for me.
I appreciate that Mary Mack.
Speaker 4 (01:15:01):
She keeps you hip and also gives you the oldies
that are goodies.
Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
Old it's you know, some of the oldies actually are good.
Speaker 7 (01:15:08):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
My kids are always commenting about music from my era
and they seem to be shocked.
Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
Sometimes they're like, that's actually a good sit Yeah, yeah,
I like that song. Great that kind of stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:15:22):
Patrick, your old school, aren't you? You got an old so
soul in you, don't you?
Speaker 2 (01:15:26):
Patrick?
Speaker 8 (01:15:27):
I mean, my music taste kind of goes around like
I like a CDC if that's kind of beas the
Beatles pre dates you.
Speaker 1 (01:15:35):
By the way, do you know the Beatles are nominated
this year for Grammy for Record of the Year. They
did they did a song I think it's now and
then I think it's the name of the.
Speaker 6 (01:15:44):
Sung and they dropped like a new song on a
new album basically right.
Speaker 1 (01:15:48):
So basically what it was, it was a song that
John Lennon had written that he never recorded, and then
about thirty years ago they had a Beatles anthology when
George was still alive and they started to think around
with this song, but they never really finished it.
Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
So what they did was they were able to get,
you know.
Speaker 1 (01:16:05):
Because Lennon wrote originally this song and then they actually
had video of Harrison playing part of this song, and
so they made a video where they used AI. It
was an incredible video and they actually recorded the song
which they are calling the Final Beatles Song, and it's
nominated for the Grammy for Record of the Year.
Speaker 5 (01:16:28):
A I was used to make the song as well
with well AI.
Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
It might have been, but AI was definitely part of
the video, which was incredible video. So anyway, if you're
Beatles fans, some people aren't, but some people are. I
was actually telling Monse that I attended my first Super
Bowl game forty years ago and to show you how
times have changed. Was my first year working for the Raiders,
and I had the option as an NFL played buy
(01:16:53):
two tickets at face value face value, and I bought
the tickets four get Ready sixty.
Speaker 1 (01:17:02):
Dollars each, sixty dollars each, that was phase value.
Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
The game was at Stanford Stadium, was Joe Montana versus
Dan Marino. Forty nine ers won that game, Big Buddy,
and I just drove up to Stanford from LA and
went to the game. Uh and the most unforgettable site
was the bathroom for the women. The bathroom facilities were
not equipped at Stanford Stadium for that many women, and
(01:17:28):
so you know, when you gotta go, you gotta go,
and they can't wait.
Speaker 5 (01:17:31):
Most facilities are not equipped.
Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
There were a lot of bushes outside the.
Speaker 4 (01:17:34):
Good I'm glad those women took advantage of those bushes. Yeah,
they did, because when you gotta go, you gotta go. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I thought that.
Speaker 2 (01:17:45):
I was like yeah, yeah, really yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:17:49):
I was like, okay, sorry listeners, sorry.
Speaker 1 (01:17:51):
Yeah, so so and yeah, that's that's that's seared in
my memory of that super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (01:17:58):
That's incredible.
Speaker 2 (01:17:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:18:00):
I mean I don't how much is the ticket face
value for the Super Bowl nowadays?
Speaker 1 (01:18:03):
I just good question is value is seven hundred something
like that? Way that's too cheap, I mean, face facu face.
Speaker 4 (01:18:11):
No, I don't think at two thousand now, I would
say it's it's gotta be in the thousands.
Speaker 2 (01:18:16):
I will say this.
Speaker 1 (01:18:17):
I mean, if you, if you are an Eagles fan,
if it's something you really wanted to do your entire life,
you know, and you're willing to throw out that kind
of money, fine, yeah, but I.
Speaker 2 (01:18:29):
Can tell you this having been to Super Bowl games.
Speaker 5 (01:18:32):
You know you can't. You can't because you said how
many have you been to?
Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
I've only actually been stayed for four games.
Speaker 2 (01:18:39):
For those four games that I went to, I feel
like I missed the game, right because your worper Bowl
is a TV event.
Speaker 5 (01:18:46):
Is it is?
Speaker 4 (01:18:47):
If you're at the event working, you don't enjoy the
game at all.
Speaker 1 (01:18:51):
One of those Super Bowls I went to, I actually
was working the game. It was the Phil Simms. You know,
he was the first guy ever to say, Phil, you
just won the Super Bowl. What are you gonna do now?
I'm gonna go to Disneyland. He was the first guy.
Speaker 2 (01:19:03):
I'm like, yeah, how did they know? That?
Speaker 9 (01:19:05):
Was?
Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
No one knew.
Speaker 1 (01:19:06):
The behind the scenes story on that at that first
year was like that is so random. Wow, How did
Disneyland know that Phil Sims on the field would say
Disneyland and then make.
Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
A commercial out of it. We didn't realize, you, but
I was.
Speaker 1 (01:19:19):
It was a home the Raiders were the home team,
the LA Raiders, and the league called me and asked
me to work on the stack crew during the game.
Remember this long before computers and everything else. Long story short,
I was there fourteen hours that day. I was there
from eight thirty in the morning till ten thirty at night.
And a couple of weeks after, they sent me a
check fifty dollars.
Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
Nice, nice, fifty dollars for my fourteen hour workday at
the super. I said, you gotta be kidding me, right,
at least I didn't ask you to pay.
Speaker 1 (01:19:49):
They said, oh, no, no, we got something special we're
sending you, Steve. And then a couple days later, I
got this little box and inside it was a loose
sight paperweight with a fake Super Bowl ticket in the middle.
Next year, they wanted me to.
Speaker 2 (01:20:01):
Work the game in San Diego.
Speaker 1 (01:20:02):
Said not eight chands, not eight chants. Keep it here
on Fox Sports Radio
