Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio here on a
fully loaded NFL Sunday. This is wow, quiet but now noisy.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Fox Football Saturday, and we are broadcasting live from the
ti iraq dot com studios tyrach dot com. We're gonna
get you there, and I'm at selection, fast reshipping, free
road assid protection, over ten thousand recommend an installers tire
rack dot com, the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Crazy.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Things are happening here in southern California. I'm sure you've
been hearing all about it, but here we are Monsey
on divisional playoff weekend. We're getting down to the nitty
gritty here. Next week, of course, we'll have the conference
championship games a week from tomorrow. First game of the
day was expected to be a one sided affair between
the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans. But we're
(00:53):
at half and the Chiefs look like a team that
has been off for over three weeks. And that's exactly
the case. Their starters have not played in twenty three days.
And the Chiefs are leading the Texans by a score
of thirteen to six at the half. But the Chiefs,
you know, usually right at the start of the game,
they had the big kickoff return penalty first down at
(01:16):
the thirteen yard lines, like, oh man seven nothing, no, no,
settle for a field goal. Then they had another opportunity
to score and the Texans defense held they had to
settle for a field goal. So so far, the Chiefs
are not looking sharp. But hasn't this really been the
story of their entire season?
Speaker 3 (01:34):
The entire season?
Speaker 4 (01:35):
And yeah, they do look like they haven't played in
three weeks, but they're also slowly getting into a rhythm.
I just could not stop laughing at Travis Kelce and
that catch that he could have gone in the end zone.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Maybe four years ago when he was a little faster,
but he looked a little slow. I that was my
favorite play so far, because I just could not stop laughing.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
I was like, go, go.
Speaker 4 (01:56):
I was yelling because I picked the Chiefs to repeat
this year to face the Lions in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
And yeah, but I'm not surprised.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
And I think they met in Week sixteen and the
Chiefs were up by a touchdown at halftime. So it's like, basically,
we're doing this all over again, but at least it's
a much closer game. Because last week the games were
a little bit of a snooze fest. I think the
margin of victory during the wild card weekend was fifteen points,
so at least it's a little bit closer of a game.
They're definitely the Texans are in it. It's not like
(02:27):
they're out of it. They just have to be a
little bit more disciplined.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Well, and again we're anticipating that the Chiefs do win
this game and then hosts the AFC Championship game. By
the way, their seventh straight AFC Championship game, which is
mind boggling, all of them at home, except last year
of course, when they went into Baltimore and got that
win against the Ravens. But right now, the thing about
the Chiefs is they had no run game. Outside of
(02:52):
one fifteen yard scramble by Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs have
eight carries for four yards.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Yeah, we have no running game.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
And this is why, you know, we've all been saying,
you know that game tomorrow between the Ravens and Bills.
And by the way, I check the temperature. So you
have the two East Coast games, so the Rams Eagles
game is first, and then you got the Bills hosting
the Ravens in the evening. The temperature at kickoff at
(03:21):
Orchard Park is scheduled at fourteen degrees. Now it is
freezing in Green Bay, it's twenty I mean, excuse me.
In Kansas City right now, it's twenty three degrees right now.
But fourteen, when you get to that level, every every
degree really starts hurting and it's only going to get colder.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
So I don't know what impact it's going to have.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
If anything, it might favor the Ravens with a superior
running game maybe than the Buffalo Bills. But there's still
that thinking that the eyeball test has been telling you.
We've been watching the Ravens, we've been watching the Bills
that right now, they're a better team than.
Speaker 3 (03:55):
The Chiefs, both of them, both of them.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
And the Chiefs have done nothing in this game, saying, ah, now,
the Chiefs are good.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
The Chiefs are just pedestrian offensively for sure, for.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
Sure, But like you've said it, this is what we've
seen all season, and they lost one game, so like, yeah,
it's still working for them.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
It's not they're not broken.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
It's just not the typical high scoring maybe Chiefs we've
seen in the past.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
I'm very the Chiefs.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
Do the pair minimum to win. I don't think they
like showing all their secrets. I don't think they like
showing their playbook. So I think they do what they
need just to keep the lead.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
So this is the ninth team with an opportunity to
win three consecutive Super Bowls. Now, the previous eight not
only did not win obviously the third Super Bowl in
a row, none of them got to the Super Bowl.
So none of the previous eight back to back winners
even played in the Super Bowl with the opportunity to
(04:56):
win that third consecutive Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
And there's a variety of reasons.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
I mean the right off the bat that the Packers
Lintilbardi retired, the Cowboys probably had the best chance in
the nineties, and Jimmy Johnson leaves after winning back to back,
and then they fell short against the forty nine Ers.
I remember nineteen ninety the forty nine Ers have won
two in a row. They're heavily favored at home against
(05:20):
a Giants team without Phil Simms, are having their backup quarterback,
and Joe Montana gets blasted in that game. He has
to sit it out. Their offense, sputters, they lose on
a last second field goal. So there's a myriad of
reasons why teams have not been able to win three
consecutive Super Bowls. It is an insane task he tried
to do, and I'm still not convinced. Look, I'm with you.
(05:43):
I picked the Chiefs to be by the way. I
had them losing to the Cowboys. Nice.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
Nice in my Super Bowl prediction.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
It's all right, you picked the Broncos to the playoffs, the.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Broncos in the playoffs, which I got.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
But yeah, I had the Cowboys winning the Super Bowl,
So how does that look? But anyway, I mean, right now,
the Texans have opened up the second half and they
are moving the ball. Right now, they got a first
down at their own forty four yard line. So obviously
we're going to keep you up to date as this
game goes. We'll be here basically to the duration of
this game. Then, of course, a little bit later on,
(06:18):
we're gonna have those Detroit Lions back on the field
taking on the Washington Commanders. Very similar set up to
this game, where you're like, all right, teams had to
buy number one seed, they should beat the team that
they're playing. But if this game is any indication that
game might be a little closer than some people predict.
Speaker 4 (06:37):
I think people are just riding on the Commander's wave
right now, right like, I'm surprised to see how many
people are picking the upset.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
It's amazing.
Speaker 4 (06:45):
It's amazing because I still think the Lions are going
to win. I think that the spread is a little
bit misleading, but it is crazy how many people really
jumped on the Commander wave after the wild card victory,
which I understand. Jan Daniels looks great, and he looks
great in moments that matter, third and fourth downs in
the second half.
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Like in this game particular, the Texans.
Speaker 4 (07:08):
Are moving the ball better than the Chiefs the entire game,
even though the Chiefs are winning.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Well, there's another factor in this that sort of blows
my mind. All right, So I get in why the
Chiefs now become the Patriots? Like you, unless you're a
diehard Chiefs fan, you hate the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
You're sick and tired of the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
I'm all about dynasties.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
I heard Martin earlier, sick and tired of the If
we don't want Chiefs, you know, Chiefs enough Chiefs, right,
I get it. When you have a team that dominates,
it's good for I've always said this about any team sport.
It's great to have a dominant team. Yes, it gives
you a target, and whether you're all in or all against,
you have that polarizing team.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
And that's what the Chiefs have certainly become.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
The Lions, on the other hand, sort of blows me away.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
The Lions have not won an NFL championship in my lifetime.
Their last championship was the year before I was boring. Yes,
when Eisenhower was president and Nixon was vice president.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
They gave this a long time ago.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
And you know, last year, obviously they sort of had
their breakout year to get in the playoffs, get to
the NFC Championship game, losing the forty nine Ers. To me,
they're like, who can't Why can you not root for
the Lions? And yet there already seems to be backlash
against the Lions.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Like you said, everyone's like, oh, the Commanders could take
them out.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
Yes, it's true.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
I don't you like the Lions.
Speaker 2 (08:34):
I don't know why are people already turned against the
Detroit Lions.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
I don't think that they've turned.
Speaker 4 (08:40):
But I just think that nobody was completely one hundred
percent sold unless you were a.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
Fan who was.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
They were preseason favorites. They had the season that everyone
expected them to have. Did you see that last game
against Minnesota?
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Oh? Wow, that game.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
They just boat raced them in the They just absolutely
destroyed them in the second half.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
You yell, throw the ball in that game, throw the ball.
I kept yelling at my TV, throw the ball.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
What do we say all year long about the Minnesota Vikings?
Do you trust the Vikings? And I'll say I'll trust
the Vikings, But the question is how will Sam Darnold
fair in the biggest games and in that debacle and
then even worse getting sacked nine times? By the way,
the nine sacks against the Rams, five of the nine,
(09:29):
and I've seen a lot of football were what I
call freeze sacks. You know, sometimes you get hit. I
mean it just it happens too quick. A freeze sack
is where the quarterback can throw the ball away, there's
a there, he has options still and he ate the
ball fair and it just yes.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
I mean, you could see Kevin O'Connell on the sideline like, dude,
what are you doing.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
You're taking these ten yard sacks, get rid of the ball.
And so Sam Donald for whatever reason, maybe it was fatigue,
you know, he hadn't done a full season like that
throughout his career.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
I don't know what it was.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
But the guy that we thought could show up someday
did at the worst possible time for the Vikings.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
Do you think that's actually in the grand scheme of things,
best case scenario for the Vikings moving forward with a
quarterback question? You know, with JJ McCarthy, because it was
like JJ McCarthy was a man, right, he gets hurt,
but he was going to be their starter. He gets hurt,
and then Sam Donald has such a great season ends
(10:36):
not on the highest of notes. So does that help
Minnesota in making a deal with Sam, maybe a team
friendly deal to keep him.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
I think I think they have a lot of trust
in Kevin O'Connell. I mean, that's where it would go
because if Kevin O'Connell can make Sam Darnald into a
Pro Bowl quarterback, which he deservedly got the Pro Bowl,
which was announced before obviously that last game against the Lions,
then they're probably thinking, well, if he can do that
with Sam Darnell. He could do that with JJ McCarthy, right,
(11:05):
you know, and we saw the best of Kirk Cousins
on him.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
So I think that's where it's at. It's gonna be
up to him.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
They're going to say which way should we go because
they have a lot of trust and should in him.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Steve Harbin and Manzi Blanios here Fox Football Saturday. And
guess what Texan scored? That was the good news. Here's
the bad news. They missed the extra point.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Can you believe that it looks windy over there?
Speaker 2 (12:28):
Yeah, so Kyami Fairbairn, the UCLA kicker who had a
couple of field goals earlier in this game, missed the
extra point. So the Chiefs lead the Texans by a
score of thirteen to twelve. We got four and a
half minutes to go right now in the third quarter.
All right, we got this game going on, Big game
coming up a little bit later on, and then two
more tomorrow to get the conference championship game set. And
(12:52):
Joinis right now to break it all down better than
anybody on the planet, is our great Fox Sports Radio
NFL insider Adam Kaplan.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
Adam, Let's let's start a little bit with the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Right now, because this is a team that seems to
have been sleepwalking through the entire season.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Yeah, as I.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
Mentioned, Yeah, well, I mean it's amazing. You know, you're
you're fifteen to two, and it's and you know, in
the last game, you didn't play anybody, so you only
lost one game with your starters all season long.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
I mentioned this Demonci a little bit earlier.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
We've had eight previous teams went back to back Super Bowls,
and none have obviously been able to threepeat. None of
those teams even made it to the Super Bowl. As
far as they got was the conference championship game. So
when you look at the Chiefs, then they continue to
look like a team that you know, their starters haven't
played in twenty three days, and it seems to show
(13:44):
again today. How confident or are you confident that the Chiefs,
if they do prevail today against the Texans, should be
expected to beat the winner of the Ravens Bills game
playing the game at home.
Speaker 6 (13:59):
Yeah, no, they'll definitely be the favorite in that game. Now,
Baltimore certainly coming on, Steve, There's no doubt about it.
After losing to the Eagles, they've really turned their season around.
Speaker 7 (14:07):
They've made some changes in their secondary.
Speaker 6 (14:10):
They moved Kyle Hamilton, their star safety, who had been
playing a little bit of a hybrid linebacker position.
Speaker 7 (14:14):
They moved him.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
Back at safety. And that's helped stop giving up big plays.
So they're playing really good football. The Texas are a
funny team. Like two weeks ago, speaking of the Ravens
at home, they didn't score an offensive point, they got
shut out, they lost thirty one to two, and you
just would think like the Texans would fold because they've
had a disappointing season, But it hasn't happened today. Now
(14:35):
let's talk about the time off. So I could tell
you from talking to former Eagles president Joe Banner, who
worked with Andy Reid for nearly twenty years. Joe told
me that when they were together, they did studies of
rest versus no rest, and there was no discernible advantage
for resting players or not resting players. They did a
study going back decades. So basically, you leave it up
(14:58):
to the head coach to decide who should play, who
needs time, and who should be playing. Obviously, you don't
want to risk injury, Steve, that's a big deal, and
you risk being rusty, And yeah, I would say it's
fair to move this along here.
Speaker 7 (15:11):
They do look a little rusty.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
Offensively, I have not looked good the Texans clearer if
I played them, if we're being honest, the Texans have
shot themselves in the foot other than that awful penalty
and Will Anderson clearers. And by the way, Bill Belichick
was coaching University North Carolina, he's it always.
Speaker 7 (15:29):
Got shot down. There are a couple of years.
Speaker 6 (15:32):
That at the owner's meetings he tried to get you
could challenge any penalty or any anything, and it got
shot down because that's just awful. Can you imagine if
that would have cost them the game? That was like
the last play of the game. The Chiefs had it.
That's what you want to avoid. And that's the worst
part about it is when you're out playing a team
(15:53):
and the refs don't help you.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Yeah, we're watching right now, the head of nice pass
play to Kelsey, you call back for a whole call.
So yeah, the Chiefs are looking a little out of
sort right, a little bit.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Yeah, but it's still the Chiefs guy.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
So there's plenty of game and they're technically winning. So
we'll see what happens before we move on from this game.
Speaker 8 (16:10):
Adam.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
The really weird play that started early.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
In this game, the defensive back for the Texans, Chris
Boyd shoving that's weird. Is there more than do you
know any of Like it just seemed like this doesn't
just happen.
Speaker 6 (16:24):
I don't know what we'll know. I mean, that's that's
the heat of the play situation. Chris Boyd's one of
the better special teams players in the league. It's always
been like a fourth or fifth corner.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
It just happened so early.
Speaker 7 (16:35):
It was like, yeah, that was weird.
Speaker 6 (16:37):
I'm just telling you that when you go, when you
push your special teams coach. So this was not because
it was a great well. I mean, obviously he made
a great play and unfortunately didn't get the ball back.
I would think maybe the special teams coach said something,
maybe he didn't hear it right. We'll find out after
the game. Look, he's obviously gonna have to apologize publicly,
no matter even if they even if they lose, he's
(16:57):
gonna have to He's gonna have to make it right.
Speaker 7 (17:00):
That just cannot happen. And I'm not going to cut
them for it.
Speaker 6 (17:03):
But that that was weird. You're right to bring that up.
That was a bizarre play. I actually, you know, I'm
able with my DVR to replay a lot, and I
went back three or four times just to see if
I could see what happened. Yeah, and I could not
tell because you can't hear it above the crowd noise.
But that was a I have not seen anything like
that before. And I've seen coaches go out of coaches
(17:25):
and players go yelled each other, but to touch your
to push your coach, like, that's like bizarre that I've
not seen that before.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
All right, and I want to skip ahead to tomorrow's
first game between the Rams and the Eagles. So I
was doing a report last night on TV here in
LA about the Rams last time. Obviously they played Week twelve.
The Eagles basically ran all over the Rams. I mean,
the Rams couldn't stop them. And then I saw Sean
McVay talking about our defense is a lot different than
the defense they saw that day, and obviously they devastated
(17:52):
the Vikings with those nine sacks. Break this game down,
how do you see this game playing out? And what
will be the deciding factor beyond which team scores the most?
Speaker 6 (18:03):
Point to be weather because we're getting snow unless the
forecast changes again, which look it's weather. You know that
you work at New Steve. It could happen. The game
is at three Eastern. It's supposed to start snowing between
eleven am and twelve pm local time and not stop
until eight o'clock at night, which means it'll snow the
entire game. Now, this is an unbelievable sidebar to this game.
(18:26):
So you might remember the game in twenty thirteen and Philly.
It was December eighth, twenty thirteen, So what do I
bring that game up? This is the only time in
my career that a team did not know was going
to snow because there was no snow in the forecast
and there was no snowe or the radar.
Speaker 7 (18:40):
So I taught.
Speaker 6 (18:41):
I called one of the lines coaches who was with
them in twenty thirteen with another team. Now, so what
happened was the line it was going to be called
in the thirties, the players they didn't have they did
not have snow gear or they didn't have the right
cleats because there was no snow in the forecast. So
what happened was it was clear and warm ups. So
the lines go in, they go to the locker room
to have their their pregame chat with a coaching staff.
(19:02):
That come out and it's snowing and it doesn't stop.
This is a game with Sean McCoy had a career day,
and what happened is they had the wrong clats on
because they didn't know they didn't have clates for they'd
have the right studs and this game now, now here's
the sidebar of this game. The same quarterback, Matthew Stafford,
had five fumbles in that game.
Speaker 7 (19:21):
He lost one of them.
Speaker 6 (19:23):
The interactive third quarterback for that game was Kellen Moore,
who will now be coaching on the other sideline. It's
just a bizarre situation in the same stadium, Linck in
Financial Stadium tomorrow. Now the field will be heated, so
that's really not a problem. But you better be prepared
and understand, as you know, Steve, they don't sound like
they practice in cold weather or in the snow. Again,
(19:45):
if it doesn't change, it's gonna snow, and it sounds
like about four inches throughout the game. So in that
game in twenty thirteen, by the way, there were seven fumbles.
The offenses didn't do anything. In the past game. There
was a high scoring game, but there were two There
were two special teams, which turns for touchdowns because guys
cannot get their footing Adam.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
We were just talking during the breaker actually on the show, how.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
The Commanders wave Like all of a sudden, people really
think the Commanders can upset the line.
Speaker 6 (20:13):
I know what you know, It's funny every interview I
did this week, like the host will go, man, I
really think everyone's on jan Daniel's a gett.
Speaker 7 (20:19):
He's a great story.
Speaker 6 (20:21):
Uh well yeah, what what why do you feel that way?
I'm curious because that that is definitely coming out. I
mean I hear that a lot this week.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
That's what weird?
Speaker 4 (20:27):
Is it because Jade and Daniel because he tends to
perform when it matters the most, third down, fourth down,
in the second half, and so it's is that.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Where you think it's coming from that.
Speaker 4 (20:35):
It's just like they think even if they're down, they
they have Jayden Daniels.
Speaker 7 (20:39):
Yeah, they've won a lot of close games and this
one is tough.
Speaker 6 (20:41):
Now Detroit's been off for a little bit, right they
they talk about a team that needed to buy because
all the injies.
Speaker 7 (20:46):
David Montgomery's going to play to night with the MCL's brain. Now.
Speaker 6 (20:50):
The cool thing is games endoors no weather problems. This
is a game where you're going to have to score.
And the one issue that I have with the Commanders
is they don't have a very good pass target group.
Other Terry McLaurin. They have an agent, Zach Ertz in
his mid thirties. It was actually had a pretty good year.
Deanmy Brown is on a on the final years rookie
deal who could run a little bit. He had a
(21:10):
career game last week. But they just don't have enough firepower.
That's going to be the problem for me. And you've
got to get a pass rush. When you go against
Jared Goff, you've got to get a pass rush. Their
path rush is okay to me. This seems more to
be a mismatch. Look, I know there's a lot of
there's it's really interesting that's been happening a lot of
(21:32):
there's been a lot of chatter on social media about
the Commanders of that team in Destiny.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Now.
Speaker 6 (21:37):
I would think the lines are based on kind of
their season and what happened last year when they choked
that ANOMSC championship game after halftime. They really should have
won that game. That was bad. I I know talking
to them, they have forgotten about that. So they seem
to be the real team of destiny right now?
Speaker 2 (21:52):
All right, one final game, obviously the game of the weekend,
the Ravens at the Bills. I'm looking at an update
at Orchard Park. Eleven degrees, Yeah, eleven. I mean we're
watching this Kansas City game. It's in the low twenties.
We're talking eleven degrees and snow. It is going to
be brutal.
Speaker 7 (22:11):
Today.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
It may not snow during the game. We'll have to
see it. But you're right about the cold weather.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
I mean eleven degrees because it's a that game, two
East Coast games, and this is the late game. That's
a six thirty kickoff on the East Coast. Eleven degrees?
Is that a factor for either one of these teams?
I mean, it would seem that the Ravens have the
superior run game if if passing becomes a problem, But
you think that will be a factor in determining which
(22:38):
team would move on?
Speaker 6 (22:39):
Well, the thing is Josh Allen, obviously is because he's
played his entire career in the playoffs and called weather
at home when they've been at home. Now, they have
not played well at home other than this game, obviously
the game last week. They not have a great record
at home with Josh Allen. But I would say this
with the Bills, they kind of know who they are.
Nobody saw this really coming. They started doing this and
running it in the foot that they shocked us. They
(23:01):
actually came out in training camp but said we're going
to be more of a run team this year, and
they wanted to. It's because of the issues with Josh
Allen last year. In the turnovers, I got to give
Joe Brady credit. Joe Brady was fired a couple of
years ago with the Panthers in season, but he's done
a great job of reviving his career. He actually has
had a couple of head coaching interviews this week, the
latest one with the Bears, and they've done that.
Speaker 7 (23:22):
Now, Steve, here's the thing. Look, before we get out
of here, Baltimore is gonna win with the run game.
If they cannot run.
Speaker 6 (23:29):
If they're not, I'm gonna say they're gonna have at
least one hundred and seventy five yards rushing.
Speaker 7 (23:32):
Wow, they have like one hundred yards. They are not
winning the game. Now.
Speaker 6 (23:35):
Jay Flowers does not expect to play with his knees brain.
He isn't practice in two weeks. They cannot get behind
this game.
Speaker 7 (23:43):
They can't.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
And in fact, I now, Steve, I'll tell you, they'll
give you a cool nugget. So I talked to an
offensive coordinator this week, a team that had played the Bills.
He says, Listen, they have a nice front, but you
could throw against them. If you could protect, you could
throw against me, because I wouldn't worry about throwing against
those corners.
Speaker 7 (24:00):
But see that.
Speaker 6 (24:01):
The thing is, without say Flowers, other than Mark Andrew,
who's going to catch the football receiver?
Speaker 7 (24:06):
They're not very good at receiver. That's that's my one
concern with them.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
All right, well we'll see how it all plays out
in the next Sunday. Obviously we'll have those conference championship games. Adam,
great stuff, as always, enjoy your week and stay warm
at him as long as you can.
Speaker 7 (24:19):
It is called out here. It's in the high twenty.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
See you all right there.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
He is Adam Kaplan our Fox Sports Radio NFL Insider.
We're live from the tire rack dot Com studios. Now
let's find out what is trending. As Martin is standing
on by. Of course, he's.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
Been reacting.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
He's been co hosting shows and he updates and then
he does his own show and he does everything.
Speaker 9 (24:40):
Because the call that was just made in this game
was one that I can't even accurately describe it.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
So you had Patrick Mahomes sliding and literally two Texans
players collide into each other. They go, they go helmet
dolmet on each other, and they call them for reping
the quarterback.
Speaker 9 (25:02):
And then to call it a slide generous, very generous.
Patrick Mahomes like just kind of goes dead weight and
falls down.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
This is football.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
See, that should be a reviewable play if you're calling
a personal foul like that, which is a major penalty,
and there should be any question at all. I mean,
somebody's like they never actually make contact with Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Never they actually ran into each other. And it was
third and four.
Speaker 9 (25:29):
And they just tried to give Kansas City the first
down on a third down completion to Noah Gray.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
And that would have me just on top of the right.
Is the way it was with the Patriots back in
the day. Tom Brady got every break at the book.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
But this isn't even a this. Okay, here's the thing.
Speaker 9 (25:46):
I can understand questionable calls going one way, but What
I cannot understand is the not making of calls like
this was not even they did not make contact like
it's this is almost like the stakes are not as
high but up there with Nikel Roby Coleman tackling Tommy
(26:07):
Lee Lewis in the NFC Champions Call it.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
For what it is, man. They need Taylor Swift, maybe
Kaylor Swift, Kayla Clark. All are there, everybody. You can't
miss them.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
I wish I was there with them.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
You can't miss him.
Speaker 9 (26:20):
Thirteen to twelve to score fourteen minutes left in the
fourth quarter. Here at Kansas City with the ball, Mahomes
are one thirty five through the air, no touchdowns, no interceptions.
The loan Kansas City touchdown was set up by Travis
Kelsey's longest postseason reception in his career was forty nine yards.
He was rumbling all the way down there. He's got
three catches for eighty four yards. So far, he's been
(26:42):
Kansas City's main offensive weapon. It has not been a
high flying, high scoring game by any stretch of the imagination.
With both quarterbacks well, TJ's just over one hundred and
fifty yards passing at one hundred and fifty two. Joe
Mixon eighty four on the ground. He's been the big
thing for the Texas so far. As Travis Kelcey completes
another first down, Kansas City's gonna be in the red
zone here again with a one point lead.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
I'll tell you what. This guy's been absent almost all
the season, and he's like, you know what, o'h wait,
let me tell you my watch.
Speaker 9 (27:09):
It's Playoff's time to go one hundred and two yards
for Kelsey right now again, just about the thirteen minutes
left in the fourth quarter in the NBA one game
going on right now, one twenty two to one eighteen.
The Suns lead to Pistons with fourteen seconds left in
the fourth quarter. That's gonna be one twenty three to
one eighteen as Kate Cunningham takes the ball up the court.
(27:30):
But might be a little too little too late there
for Detroit. We'll see if it's too little too late
for Houston as well. Just a bit, but for now,
back to you guys.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Okay, Martin, I was just they just respect they're doing,
They're going, what's up. They just showed Taylor's swift jumping
out of her seat and giving an awkward hug of
Caitlyn Clark. Clark, she was standing there like, okay, you
want to hug me? Is that's your boyfriend?
Speaker 7 (27:53):
Right right?
Speaker 4 (27:54):
I thought I thought Caitlyn Clark was the one that
was a little bit like, oh, you're gonna hug me?
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Like she just wasn't expecting it.
Speaker 9 (28:00):
See, this is not exactly Brittany mail Holmes Taylor Swift
here in that like they were more seemed to be friends.
I don't know how many times Caitlin Clark and Taylor
Swift have hung out before today. I know they've met
each other in the past, but I think you're very
much in the moment of like, oh my god, that's.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
It's probably a little bit starstruck Clark.
Speaker 7 (28:21):
Wait is it?
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Why is Kaitlyn Clark there?
Speaker 3 (28:24):
That's a great question because what is what is her
connection here?
Speaker 1 (28:27):
I think it's you know, Steve, it's a football game.
Speaker 9 (28:29):
There's one hundred thousand people there.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
But I mean city next to Taylor's.
Speaker 9 (28:35):
They connected at some point through the w NBA sea
Is that what they did?
Speaker 2 (28:40):
All right?
Speaker 1 (28:40):
They shook off the hater?
Speaker 7 (28:42):
All right?
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Mariam, thank you very much. I can't keep track of
all this stuff.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
Once again, we are live from the tyreq dot Com Studios,
Fox Football Saturday. Really, if you look at the numbers
in this game, the Texans have dominated. The difference right
now is a missed extra point, otherwise they'd be tied
to thirteen. But the Chiefs are driving. They are in bosire.
Now third and goal, and this is where the Texans
defense Montse has really toughened up.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Look at that. If they had called that, they did not.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Fortunately, as Mahomes did the flop as he was being
pushed out of bounds. So third and goal right now
for the Chiefs at the eleven yard line, and the
Texans defense has been outstanding.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
In the red zone.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Let's see if they can hold up one more time
here as Mahomes will scramble throws into the end zone.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Touchdown. Goodness to Travis.
Speaker 3 (29:35):
Kelsey ause he's falling to Travis kelce.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
So that was a classic moment.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
Travis kelce has caught more passes in the postseason than
any player in history.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
And now we get the.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Taylor swift, Caitlin Clark hugging in the box, and Travis
kelcey now with five catches, one hundred and thirteen yards
and one touchdown in a season. Was such a dramatic
decline in his numbers that it seemed imminent that this
will be his last call.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
It may still be, might be.
Speaker 7 (30:07):
See.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
I have a theory about Travis right now is that
his brother is literally doing every commercial known to man.
I dare say, Jason Kelcey is making more money now
than in one year than he did in his entire
career as a center for the Philadelphia Eagles. He is
absolutely everywhere, and I think Travis is a little jealous
of that. But Travis Kelcey has been unbelievable in this game.
(30:32):
Five catches, one hundred and thirty yards and a score,
and now the Chiefs add the extra point, twenty to twelve.
Chiefs laid eleven fifty two to go in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
That play was, Oh, this is why the Chiefs are hated.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
He was being sacked and.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Taken down, but he kept his eyes down the count
and nobody.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
Was guarding Travis Kelcey, who has been the only one
doing damage in this so you would think, but he
just stood there, sat, He didn't even he didn't have
to flinch.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
I took my sons to a Chargers Chiefs game at
so Far three years ago.
Speaker 1 (31:07):
It was a Thursday night game.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Kelsey just went nuts in that game, right, I mean,
I mean his numbers were absolutely absurd, and you're like,
and remember see, I always thought like they got rid
of Tyreek Hill, this was going to be a problem
because you know, back then, it was like pick your poison?
Are we going to double up on Tyreek Hill? Are
we gonna double up on Travis kelse What are we
gonna do? And so when Tyreek Hill left, I was like, well,
(31:29):
this is gonna be easy now. You know that's the
guy right there, Travis kelce And I'm watching this game
and he was wide open constantly. I think they had
Derwin Jane's in single coverage. I'm like, hello, that's not working.
Try something else. And right now, the Texans defense that
had been playing so well completely lose his sight on
(31:51):
third and goal of the eleven yard line and Travis
Kelcey is literally standing in the middle of the end
zone by himself.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
No problem. Didn't even move to catch that ball. Ah
didn't even move it all right.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Well, the Chiefs trying to become the first team ever
win three straight Super Bowls, they got a big one
now and it's thought over.
Speaker 1 (32:10):
We'll see how this plays out.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
We'll continue on with our coverage of this game between
the Chiefs and Texans. We're gonna get you ready also
for the game coming up between the Lions and the Commanders.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Breaking it all down. That's what we do. It's Fox
Football Saturday.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app. Search FSR to
listen live.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Steve Harvey, Monci Belgios.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
Here, Fox Football Saturday, coming you live from the tire
Rack dot com studios. All right, the Texans have the ball,
they're down twenty to twelve, ten minutes to go in
the fourth quarter, and they have Oo. Wow, that was
a missed opportunity there by CJ. Straud through behind the receiver.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
He got it two with one hand, but yeah, it
was behind him.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
It was behind him.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Not a good pass and almost got it, but he
was wide open. That would have been down about the
twenty yard line. So right now they're in the Chiefs territory.
U Nico Collins had a big play to get him
into a Chief's territory right now.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Again, the the yards are in favor.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
Of the Texans in this game. In fact, rushing yards
are not even close. One hundred and forty six to
forty nine in favor of the Texans in this game.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
All right, third and ten and they blitzed and knocked
the ball.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
Away and they're going to have to hit or go
for four time. They're sort of a no man's land.
It's too long of a kick. Fairburn having just missed.
Speaker 1 (33:41):
An extra point. He's missed a lot.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
Man, He's I hate to say that about a UCLA guy.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
That Fairburn chickers this year.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Remember how dominant the kickers were all seasoned long and
then the last maybe it's the cold weather or whatever
it is late in the year, but suddenly in the
month of December, all of a sudden, kickers are missing
kicks all over the play.
Speaker 4 (34:00):
Yeah, this year, I feel like a lot of the
kickers that a lot of teams relied on heavily in
the past, justin Tucker being one of them.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Also for the Ravens.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
Oh, they're going for it on fourth and ten at
the forty yard line and they have snapped the ball.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
Strata is running for his life is he just took
a sack in the game. That's it. Wow, he just.
Speaker 2 (34:19):
Took a fifteen yard sack on fourth and ten. This
entire that was just absolutely an abysmal call.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
Abysmal.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
And they have now handed the Chiefs the ball first
down at the Houston forty five yard line. So they
did a quick snap on fourth and ten at the
forty yard line, and the Chiefs just came after him
with everybody and they sacked him for a fifteen yard loss.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
That defensive line has woken up.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Steve Spagnola, by the way, is interesting because his name
is being mentioned as possible head coaching candidate. Would make sense, right,
I mean, the guys had a tremendous run his defensive coordinator.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
For the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
What people forget is that Spagnola was a coach, head
coach of the.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Then Saint Louis Rams. Look it up. It was.
Speaker 2 (35:13):
It was bad, yeah, I mean it wasn't like bad,
it was beyond bad. Like he was literally one of
the worst head coaches in the history of the National
Football League.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
Which is fine.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
I mean, some people are cut out to be coordinators,
some are meant to be head coaches. But it would
be hard for me to ignore that on your resume,
saying Okay, you were given and this is.
Speaker 1 (35:38):
A long time ago.
Speaker 2 (35:39):
Say it's though, yeah, and it's like, okay, you are
you really head coaching material at this point, And even for.
Speaker 4 (35:48):
Him, it's like does he want to do that?
Speaker 1 (35:51):
That's a great question.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Mon. See, you know, sometimes you got to look at
your circumstances. This guy's collecting Super Bowl rings, he's making
millions as defensive.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Coordinator for the Chiefs. I don't know what is the
end game is.
Speaker 2 (36:05):
But if he were to go and suddenly, let's just
use the Raiders as an example, that is a bad team.
He didn't have Patrick Mahomes on that team. He didn't
have anything on that team. You know you have Max Crosby, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
You got Brought Bowers.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
He got two really good players, and everyone else is
just guys. Yeah, and then they're like fix it, yeah,
fix it, make it, make it work. I don't know
if I was Spagnola would want to do that.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
And like you said, I have heard that his coaching
experience wasn't great. You have such great success here and
if I'm the Chiefs, I'm like, you're not going nowhere?
What do I have to do to keep you here
as long as you know, we keep the main characters here, right,
like if Andy Reid retires, if Travis Kelsey retires, Hey,
I think Patrick Mahomes, I.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Think he might retire sooner than we think.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Well, you know, I saw an interview Chris Shones, you know,
obviously the star of their defensive line, future Hall of Famer,
and he was asked about the possibility of Spags getting
an opportunity to be a head coach again, and you know,
he said the right thing. He said, Look, I don't
want to lose him. Obviously we're doing great things here.
But I also understand if he wants that opportunity, I
(37:26):
want it for him.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
But sometimes you got to sort of take a step back.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
I just know that there have been points in my
career over the years where you have opportunities and it's
like that shiny new toy and then you have to
take a pause and you're like, Okay, is my situation
here good?
Speaker 1 (37:45):
And like, yeah, I really want to test the water.
Speaker 2 (37:49):
And I'm telling you, in retrospect, I don't have any
regrets of any of the moves I did not make.
It just seemed like every one of the ones that
look so good turned out that it wasn't what it
was advertised to be.
Speaker 4 (38:04):
The grass isn't always greener, even though sometimes it looks
it right, but maybe they just spray painted it, so
it's not really greener.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
And I like when people want you, that's the whole Yes,
you know, you want to feel wanted?
Speaker 1 (38:19):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Can I share this with guys that have gone through
divorce friends of mine, they've gone through multiple marriages.
Speaker 1 (38:25):
See I didn't go that. There's a reason why I
haven't gotten married again. Yes, because this.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
Is how it all works, right. So you're in a romance,
you know, and you're getting all the attention from the lady, right,
you're the center of her world, and you're just that
guys digging that, right, I mean, And then you get
married and then you start having kids, and then as
soon as you start having kids, you realize you knock
back and all the attentions on the kids, you know.
(38:51):
And I understood that, but every guy wants that, They
want all that attention, So then they get divorced and
then they go through the process again.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
And they're getting all that recognition.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Yeah, that's the way it's supposed to be I'm the guy,
and then they go through the process again, and it
just keeps repeating itself over and over again, and now
the bills are potting up and.
Speaker 1 (39:12):
All of a sudden, you are no man slant.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
So so don't do that.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
But sometimes if I were Spags at this point of
my life, I would just say, you know what, I
really got it good here, Yes, do I really want
to roll the dice on a really bad organization when
I'm on the best organization currently going in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (39:31):
And especially because he did try, It's not like he did.
It's like he can't. It's not like he goes and
it's like, well I should have tried that once. No,
you did try, and your success is here where you
are a big reason as to why the Chiefs are
where they are right now.
Speaker 3 (39:44):
It's not just offensively. It has been defensive, especially this season.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Right now, the Texans are trying to make things happen,
but the Chiefs have the ball. Actually, the Texans have
just gotten the ball back. So the Texans have the
ball now, eight and a half minutes to go, Chiefs
leading by a score of thirteen excuse me, twenty to twelve,
all right, on the other side. More on this game,
and of course we got the game coming up a
(40:12):
little bit later on between the Lions and the Commanders.
We got all covered and we'll preview the college championship game.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
This is Fox Football Saturday, all.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
Right, rolling along here on day one of this Divisional
Round playoff weekend in the NFL. This is Fox Football Saturday,
and we are broadcasting live from the ti rack dot
Com studios, tire rack dot com. We're going to get
you there and I matched selection, fast free shipping, free
road assid protection over ten thousand recommended installers, tire rack
dot com, the way tire buying should be.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
All right, Well, the.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
Texans did get the ball back after the Chiefs went
three and out, and now the Texans just went three
and out and so they punted away and the Chiefs
will take over near midfield with seven a half minutes
to go in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
So right now, the two.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
Time defending champion Chiefs are looking in pretty good shape
to move on to host the AFC Championship game.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
Not over yet.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
Crazy things have happened in this game. But if the
Chiefs do win, obviously they'll be hosting the winner of
tomorrow's game between the Bills and the Ravens, and you know,
we got the full weather report about that game tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (41:21):
Woof yeah, the Chiefs before we move on for that,
the Chiefs have to be so excited that those two
have to go play each other. And you know, it's
going to be a tough game. I don't think it's
going to be a blowout blowout by either team.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
No, but considering the conditions that are going to be
at Orchard Park, it is going to be brutal. It's
going to be whatever team survives that game and moves
on to the AFC Championship Game. So again, not only
has no team ever repeated in terms of winning three
consecutive Super Bowls, but no team that's won back to
(41:55):
back Super Bowls has actually gotten to the Super Bowl
in that third year because the goal.
Speaker 3 (42:01):
Every other team is the goal is to knock out
the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (42:03):
Correct, I really So we'll see how this all plays out.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
But right now, just in the seven minute mark, and
they are in Houston territory right now, and the Chiefs
have just looking like the Chiefs team we have seen
all season long, you know, where they just they're not sharp,
but when they need to make plays, they've been able
to make plays.
Speaker 4 (42:23):
Yeah, like after they got the ball back when the
Texans went for it and CJ. Stroud lost fifteen yards
and got sacked that drive for the Chiefs, it was like,
why weren't you a little bit more aggressive? Why didn't
you try and get at least a field goal out
of this? But like you said, they just really yeah,
we're good.
Speaker 2 (42:41):
Well down eight right now, even if the Chiefs go
for and now they just broke a big run. The
checko right there was able to break a big run
inside the twenty yard line, so they're in the red
zone right now.
Speaker 1 (42:52):
Things not looking good for the Texans.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
Travis Kelcey in this game six catches one hundred and
seventeen yards in.
Speaker 3 (42:58):
The score postgame post games with one hundred or more.
Speaker 2 (43:02):
Yards right, more receptions in the postseason than any player
in the history of the NFL. That's a record that
was held by a guy named Jerry Rice. I've heard
of him, Yeah, but Kelsey stands number one.
Speaker 10 (43:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
I still got to look at Kelsey because it was
a struggle this year at times. I mentioned earlier, I
think he's jealous of the life his brother Jason is
living right now. He is living a charmed existence. And
why am I still sweating out here on the football field.
He's obviously a first ballot Hall of Famer Travis Kelsey
do I need? I mean, they gave him a gift
Pro Bowl. He did not earn that Pro Bowl bid
(43:38):
this year.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
Interesting that he made the Pro Bowl. Mahomes didn't. Mahomes
didn't get any Pro Bowl.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
Yeah, you know, I don't think they care about that
right now.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
They're Hall of Fames. The Buster are already in production
right now.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
All right, So we now have the Chiefs again inside
the twenty yard line and the clock is taking five
and minutes to go. So coming up later, we're talking
earlier about this Commander's Lions matchup, and you were talking
about this, Moncie. How so many people that you're talking to,
and I agree, a lot of people are, you know,
(44:12):
spinning it like wow, Commanders have a chance here, And
I'm like, I'm sorry, you looked.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
Have you watched the Lions this year?
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Have you?
Speaker 1 (44:19):
They had a.
Speaker 2 (44:20):
Game where Jared got through five interceptions and they won
that game.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
That's pretty crazy.
Speaker 4 (44:28):
Yeah, I don't know what it is. I think it's excitement.
I think it's a little bit of the Commanders. Nobody
hates the Commanders, right, like they went through such a
rough time with ownership and so now here they are,
and I think people are just like rooting kind of
for an underdog.
Speaker 3 (44:43):
Which I agree. The Lions are also an underdog.
Speaker 1 (44:45):
They are underdog.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
Look, Commanders had an eight game improvement from a year ago, okay,
which is amazing. I mean, you go from eight wins
to twelve wins. And why is Dan Quinn not in
the conversation for a coach of the year. I don't
get it now, And that usually you're an new coach,
you take over a four win team, you're handed a
rookie quarterback, and you win twelve games.
Speaker 1 (45:06):
I'm sorry. That seems to me like coach of the
year material.
Speaker 3 (45:10):
Yeah, it's he should be in the conversation. It's just
that unfortunately for him.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
I feel like there's a lot of coaches that are
in the conversation that you could really give the coach
of the year two and that's probably why. But I'm
with you, he should definitely be in the conversation. Yeah,
I think people are just rooting for the underdog and
like Jayden Daniels like he has been fun and exciting
to watch. But I'm with you, like, I don't get
how all of a sudden they beat They beat the
Buccaneers off of a turnover.
Speaker 3 (45:34):
Really, not that you came and beat them.
Speaker 4 (45:36):
It's just that unfortunately they gave you the ball back
and you want it. But I don't see how you
just are like, yes, I'm taking them.
Speaker 3 (45:44):
They're gonna knock off the Lions, all right.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
The Texans held, so fourth and one right now, clock
ticking for forty five to go in the fourth quarter,
and Bucker is on for another field goal a tip.
It's only twenty seven yards shorter than the extra he
has made it. So they chiefs now laid twenty three
to twelve with four thirty eight to go in the
(46:07):
fourth quarter. So a two score game right now, and
the Texans have got to make something happen real quick. Yeah,
I just look at the Lions and how they have.
You know, the question to me about the Lions was
going into the year, sure, right, you know you have this.
It really it stems back to two years ago, remember
where they knocked out Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in
(46:28):
that last game of making the postseason, and that was
sort of the beginning. That was sort of the beginning, like, okay,
they had made strides that year, but that was sort
of the exclamation point, like we've arrived. And then last year,
obviously they make it into the postseason and get it
all the way to the NFC Championship game.
Speaker 1 (46:45):
So the expectations really hot.
Speaker 2 (46:48):
And you know, of tracing the history of the NFL,
a lot of times when teams have breakout years, they
tend to maybe take a step back before another step forward.
And the Lions could have been team that they weren't.
They were better than ever.
Speaker 1 (47:04):
This year.
Speaker 2 (47:04):
They have absolutely been the most dominant team I think
in the entire league they.
Speaker 4 (47:10):
Have been, and it's because they stepped on your throat
even if they were up by twenty.
Speaker 3 (47:15):
They were like, we're not done.
Speaker 4 (47:16):
We're gonna step on your throat no matter if we're
up by thirty five. And I think that's why they
look so dominant, and you just hit it on the head,
especially the Texans, like last year they had such a
great first year with Demiko Ryans and CJ. Stroud and
yes they're here now playing the Chiefs, but they did
not play as well as they did last They definitely
took a step back because that tends to happen. But
(47:38):
the Lions, even though I picked the Chiefs at the
start of the season to win, I don't think it's
going to be easy for the Chiefs to beat the
Lions just because of their offensive weapons they just have.
They can go to so many different players, whether they
want to run the ball or they're gonna have Jared
Goff throw, they have a lot of offensive weapons.
Speaker 2 (47:55):
Well, Chris Burphat who is our register and I can
say this, he is he's so thin and when we
say Lions fan, right, but he is.
Speaker 1 (48:03):
He's a lifelong, die hard Lions fan. Well, I mean
he does a Lions podcast and everything else.
Speaker 2 (48:09):
He wants to be taking them okay, And he was
trying to convince us that the Lions would have a
tougher ride.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
To the Super Bowl than the Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
And I'm like, are you saying that the Eagles or
the Rams are a tougher opponent for the Lions than
the Bills or Ravens would be for the Chiefs? Like well,
Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson or Jalen.
Speaker 3 (48:38):
Hurts, right, Jalen Hurts is third there.
Speaker 2 (48:42):
Right exactly, Yeah, and Matthew Stafford's right there.
Speaker 8 (48:45):
You know.
Speaker 3 (48:45):
It's like so.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
No, the Lions to me really have a cakewalk to
the And again, the only way I can see this
game coming up later on today between the Commanders and
the Lions, it would have to be a perfect storm
like the Commanders, you know, special teams, defensive touch on
a complete meltdown by.
Speaker 3 (49:09):
The Lions, which I don't anticipate happening.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
Sure, like what the Vikings did against the Rams last week.
And I do not see that happening.
Speaker 4 (49:16):
No, especially we just Dan Campbell has really set up
this this mindset like again.
Speaker 3 (49:22):
We're gonna step on your throat every week.
Speaker 4 (49:25):
And I'm pretty sure even though they have taken how
many days off did you say, Well.
Speaker 1 (49:29):
They didn't because they played.
Speaker 3 (49:31):
They did play, but yeah week, Yeah they.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
Have two weeks. But it's not like it changed it
three weeks off, right, because.
Speaker 4 (49:39):
You're right, you're right, because they didn't really play anybody
in that last game.
Speaker 10 (49:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (49:42):
No, I don't see them. I don't see them coming
out slow. I don't see them coming out with the
rough start. I see them coming out swinging from the beginning,
and it's going to be commanders having to keep up
with the lions.
Speaker 2 (49:56):
I don't see too much of a well, we'll break
down the other games course work have our picks coming up,
by the way, just a little preview.
Speaker 1 (50:02):
You know, I did pick up a couple of points
on you.
Speaker 3 (50:05):
You My math is you got one more point than me.
Speaker 1 (50:08):
Really that's interesting because Patrick has two three.
Speaker 3 (50:12):
You got three points and I got two.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
He said, I got four points.
Speaker 3 (50:15):
Okay, we can exchange now.
Speaker 2 (50:16):
Okay, well we'll take care of that a little bit.
But on the other side that we're going to be
a breaking down the college football championship game between Ohio
State and Notre Dame coming up on Monday, Fox Sports
Radio's own He's a legend in our mind, Yes he is.
Aaron Torres will be joining us. This is Fox Football Saturday,
(50:37):
Steve Hartman and Montcy Belanos Fox Football Saturday. We're coming
alive from the ti iraq dot com studios.
Speaker 1 (50:45):
Hey, don't forget after the show.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
Our podcast is going out, So if you miss any
of today's show, check out the podcast. Just search Fox
Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts, then follow, rate
and review the podcast again. Just search Fox Sports Radio
wherever you get your podcasts. You'll see this show posted
right after we get off the air. Well, it looks
like doomsday for the Texans, not one hundred percent. They
did get the ball back, so twenty three to twelve,
(51:08):
Chiefs lead the Texans, but we're inside two minutes to go,
and the Texans will need a quick score and a miracle.
I'm not saying it can happen, but unlikely to happen.
So it looks like the Chiefs, who by the way,
have not lost a home game all season long, are
on their way to hosting the AFC Championship Game next
week against the winner of tomorrow's matchup between the Ravens
(51:30):
and Bills. We also have the College Football Championship game
in this endless playoff, I mean.
Speaker 3 (51:37):
This still still going on.
Speaker 2 (51:39):
It's still going on, still going on, and it will
end on Inauguration Day, which is Monday. Also the Martin
Luther King holiday joining us right now, as he has
been so gracious to join us week after week after week.
Used to be on very short notice, I mean like
a minute's notice, and then all of a sudden, we
(51:59):
demand it, and he complied that just stay, just count
on us calling you throughout this college football play at
the great Aaron Torres is joining us right now before
we talk about this Notre Dame Ohio state matchup.
Speaker 1 (52:12):
Aaron, are you are you one of those that seemed.
Speaker 2 (52:16):
To be irritated with the Chiefs. Have they gotten to
where we used to be with the Patriots? Where unless
you are a diehard Patriots fan, he just hated the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (52:27):
Are we at that level with the Chiefs?
Speaker 8 (52:31):
So it's a great question. First of all, thank you
guys as always for having me no pressure. Producer Pat
did say that at this point my name should basically
be on the show. I'll let you guys decide that
after I get off air. So it's really funny Steve
that you say that. So a couple of things. One
I want to give our colleague Brian no credit. Brian,
when he was hosting in Portland, I remember him having
(52:51):
me on years ago, maybe after like the second or
third AFC Championship game in or I can't remember, and
he said, I think it was like the lead up
to the Super Bowl where they lost to the Bucks,
And he said, how many super Bowls in a row?
How many Super Bowls is Mahome's going to have to
win before we just get annoyed by them. And I
think that we're sort of here. What I would also say,
(53:13):
and I've said this on my show and listen, I
know we're we're we talked sports and you know we're
lucky to do what we do. I've kind of found
the Chiefs to be about the most boring team in
the NFL this season. And here's why is Jason Martin
and I were on air last year as the you know,
the fine as they won in overtime and get the
(53:34):
San Francisco forty nine ers, that crazy overtime game, and
I bring it up because you know, we talked about
it for basically three hours that night. Was that essentially,
you you know, you can make the argument for any
team during the twenty twenty four to twenty twenty five
NFL season, but ultimately, until somebody beats the Kansas City Chiefs,
it's just it's hard for me to get excited because
(53:58):
it just feels like, you know, they they just always
find a way. I mean, we all remember last year
they were what five and five at one point? They
lost on Christmas Day whatever it was I can't remembrowe
details now, but I just bring it up to very
simply say that I find the Ravens fascinating. I find
the Bills fascinating. I find the Eagles fascinating. I just
feel like with the Chiefs, I needed to see I
(54:18):
need to see them on this stage, and I did
see if anybody is going to step up and be
able to take their challenge. I know there were some
controversial calls today, but so far we're alling on with
the sex.
Speaker 2 (54:27):
Yeah, and what happened just now is Kenemie Fairbaron, who
missed an extra point earlier, just had his field goal blocked.
Speaker 1 (54:34):
That was trying to make it a one score game.
So that is it.
Speaker 2 (54:37):
Chiefs take over a minute and a half to go,
and the Chiefs will move on to the AFC Championship.
Speaker 3 (54:43):
Game, just like Patrick Mahomes planned.
Speaker 4 (54:46):
Yes, I mean he had his baby in the bye
week or yeah, so he knows what he's doing.
Speaker 8 (54:51):
Eric, everything feels a little too script.
Speaker 1 (54:53):
That doesn't. It doesn't.
Speaker 8 (54:55):
Caitlin Clark's there today with Taylor Swift. It all feels
a little No, I'm kidding, I'm I'm not gonna somebody.
Speaker 4 (55:01):
We did get tweeted at actually Steve that apparently Kaitlin
was on I assume Kelsey Plum's podcast and said that
she is a Kansas City fan because it's.
Speaker 3 (55:10):
Iowa's closest one. Apparently, so she's been a Kansas City fan.
Speaker 2 (55:14):
Well, we'll hold on a second. My sister lives in
Iowa and has lived there a long time. Her husband
is a Lions fan.
Speaker 3 (55:23):
Is it closer?
Speaker 1 (55:24):
I don't know any cheese fans that live in Iowa.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
They're either Vikings fans, Lions fans, maybe even Bears fans.
But Kaitlin Clark suddenly has become a chief apparently.
Speaker 3 (55:35):
Not suddenly, she says she's been a cheese fan.
Speaker 4 (55:37):
Okay, anyway, Aaron, my first question to you is how
soon is Marcus Freeman going to become an NFL coach.
Speaker 8 (55:46):
Let's see, so today is Saturday, Yes, a quarter pass. Never,
he's not going anywhere.
Speaker 3 (55:53):
He's not going anywhere, not this year.
Speaker 8 (55:55):
No. First of all, you know, he just signed a
long a contract extension, probably about three or four weeks ago.
And it's always tough because at a private school you
don't know the parameters of the deal. But listen, this
is what has held back a lot of these guys
from going to the or even taking other college jobs.
That a lot of these contracts you have to pay,
you know, a fair amount of buyout money just to
(56:17):
talk to them. And so I listen, you never say never.
And he's thirty nine years old, which is horrifying to
me because it makes me reevaluate everything that I'm doing
with my life. But I think, you know, he's got
I mean it's not in all seriously, he's got a
twenty If he wants to try the NFL, he's got
a twenty year runway to do it. And I think
(56:39):
right now he's winning at a really high level at
one of the most prestigious jobs in football already. Now Listen,
like anybody else, whether it's Nick Saban, whether it's whoever,
you wonder if at some point he's going to want
to test himself at that level, maybe nil and all
that gets more out of control and he says enough
is enough. I would say this. I kind of thought
(56:59):
Notre was kind of a tough job in this portal
nil world, but he's making it work. So again, if
he was in a spot where he just felt like
he couldn't win, and you know whatever, but he's obviously
winning at a high level. I get the talk, but
I just I don't see it this year. I really don't.
And by the way, since I'm on the show every week,
if next week he's introduced as the Bears coach or whatever,
(57:23):
you know, feel free to throw it in my face.
But I just don't see it, especially all I know you,
I have zero doubts that you will, but don't. I
don't think it would. I don't think it'll happen this all.
Speaker 2 (57:31):
Well, we go back to twenty twelve when they were undefeated,
you know, the Manti Tale year, and you know, they
played Alabama and the VCS championship game and just got
absolutely annihilated in that game.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
Then they had one other playoff appearance in which they
got annihilated.
Speaker 2 (57:47):
They played well in this postseason, but it looks like
they are overmatched against Ohio State.
Speaker 1 (57:53):
So give me a scenario.
Speaker 2 (57:54):
What will have to happen beyond obviously scoring more points
for this Notre Dame team to actually become a national
champion for the first time since nineteen eighty eight.
Speaker 8 (58:05):
Well, I think there's a very obvious scenario where it
could happen. I agree with you, they look over matched
on paper. We could talk about my pick here in
a minute, but like I think the very obvious scenario
is that Notre Dame leaves the country and force turnovers. Now,
admittedly they've played a few more games than virtually every team.
They're also I believe number two and interceptions, and Will
(58:26):
Howard has been a little bit reckless with the ball,
although he's obviously played excellent in the playoffs. So that's
the scenarios. I think, you know, multiple force turnovers, probably
from the secondary, maybe one brought back for a touchdown.
That's the scenario. But I'll just say really quickly, Steven, Steve,
I actually have a question for you before we get
out of here. But that is the scenario. But I
(58:49):
agree with you. I think this is the game where
not only there's only a talent descrepant dam mean, you
start to look at the injuries that are piling up.
This is what we talked about over the course of
the you know, of the spring in summer, as we
started thinking about this twelve team playoff. Is you know,
this isn't the NFL. You can't sign guys off the street,
you know, off practice squad. Who's going to be healthy
(59:10):
through sixteen seventeen games, and you look at Notre Dame.
Riley Leonard was in and out of concussion protocol. Jeremiah Love.
I know they're saying he's pretty close to one hundred percent,
but he's in that big knee brace. Last game. Riley
Mills is out the offensive tackles that I think that's
going to be the expector of this game.
Speaker 2 (59:27):
Okay, So, by the way, did I see a safety
in this game?
Speaker 7 (59:30):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (59:31):
Okay, so it's twenty three to four hold on the
line on this game, if I'm not mistaken, was nine.
Speaker 3 (59:36):
And a half correct?
Speaker 1 (59:37):
Unbelievableugh, So, Aaron, think about this.
Speaker 2 (59:39):
It was twenty three to twelve and the Chiefs take
a safety.
Speaker 1 (59:44):
And now the score is twenty three to fourteen. This
is why I don't gamble.
Speaker 2 (59:50):
This is why people was like, you know, you've been
doing sports your whole life.
Speaker 1 (59:54):
To you do you bet on games? I go, I
do not bet on games for this exact reason. Can
you imagine?
Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
I mean nine and a half point spread and they
take an intentional safety, so instead of winning by eleven,
they win by nine.
Speaker 4 (01:00:07):
Yeah, Martin and I are happy because we took how
do we how do we not suspicious at things like this?
Speaker 1 (01:00:13):
That's what I want to know.
Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
Yeah, I mean no, of course matter Rise.
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
Took the intentional safety the punter of the Chiefs and
there you go.
Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
I'm sorry, by the way.
Speaker 8 (01:00:23):
No, it's okay. I actually forgot what I was going
to ask you, Steve Don't so this was good vamping.
Speaker 1 (01:00:28):
Yah.
Speaker 8 (01:00:29):
I know it was actually pretty important, but I actually
forget what I was going to add. It was something
relative to either the playoff or college football in general.
Oh oh, this is what I wanted to ask you
because this is going to be a topic on today's
show really quick, and I know we're probably short on time,
are but you I think you both were in the
same proponent of me of after Ryan Day lost to Michigan,
(01:00:50):
if he you know, if you lost to Tennessee. I
think there was a real conversation.
Speaker 5 (01:00:53):
Yeah, he's gone this year.
Speaker 8 (01:00:55):
So here's my question, if they somehow lose this game,
is there any sort of good grace with Ryan Day
or no? Because every lay out the scenario, it sounds crazy, right,
you finished second in the season, But here's the argument,
is that you now have four years straight where you
haven't won a Big Ten title, you haven't even played
in the Big Ten championship game, you haven't being your
(01:01:17):
primary rival. And the saving grace was we now have
this expanded playoff where you can get in without winning
the Big Ten and you didn't win a national championship either,
so the national championship was well, at least now you
can get in if you have a good season but
a not great season. Where do you stand on? How
will and how should Ohio State fans they if they
don't win this game? How should they feel about this guy?
(01:01:39):
Because he's gotten a lot of good will the last
couple of weeks. But I think we all see that
good will under the assumption that he's going to go
ahead and finish this out with a winning gainst notre dame.
Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
I would say he's only in trouble if they have
an obvious replacement.
Speaker 8 (01:01:53):
Yeah, and I don't think he's going to get fired.
Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
I just well, but my whole point is if they
have somebody in mind, maybe they were thinking of somebody
after the loss of mission, Like, all right, he's one
loss away from losing his gig.
Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
Who are we replacing him with? You're gonna bring Davin
Meyer back. I mean, I don't. I don't know who
else is going to step in that job.
Speaker 2 (01:02:14):
So I in the unlikely I believe scenario them losing
a Notre Dame, I think Ryan Day's safe.
Speaker 8 (01:02:22):
Yeah, I would just say I wouldn't lose.
Speaker 1 (01:02:24):
The Michigan next year again.
Speaker 8 (01:02:25):
Then yeah, well that was a caveat this year. To
Michigan again next year. No, And so that's my whole thing.
He's clear not getting fired at this point. But like
the whole thing was like, you know, one, do you
bring him back? Whatever? But to you know, his reportedly
his kids are getting harassed at school. You know, there
was a report that there were police outside his house
after the Michigan game, And it was like the only
(01:02:47):
way to get back in the good graces of of
Ohio State fans was to go ahead and win this
national championship. So I'm not saying like he's and I'm
not this kind of mean spirit. I'm not saying his
kids like whatever. But I I guess just the point
I'm trying to make is like, if I'm an Ohio
State fan, do I forgive all these Michigan losses whatever?
Because he did get us to the stage, but I
(01:03:08):
guess he's still got to wrap it up by actually
winning the title on.
Speaker 3 (01:03:11):
On Monday night Eron, I'm gonna put you on the spot.
What's the finals we're going to be?
Speaker 8 (01:03:16):
I have said twenty four to ten Ohio State wins.
We always kind of default to higher scores than it is.
These are two elite defenses. Notre Name really all season long,
has not shown a passing game. I don't think he's
gonna be one dimensional against this Ohio State team. So,
like I said, the only scenario that I see Notre
Dame winning is if they have multiple force turnovers probably
(01:03:38):
convert them directly into points. I don't think that's going
to happen, So I'll stay twenty four to ten Ohio State.
Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
All right, Well, Aaron, thank you so much, and we're
going to figure out ways to continue our conversation week
after week after that. Yes, you get started, then we're
just getting started. The great Aaron tours everybody here on
Fox Sports Radio tied.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
Now let's find out what is trending mean.
Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
There's a man that was literally jumping up through the
stratosphere when mat Rise of the punter for the Chiefs
intentionally took the safety to give the Texans the cover
as nine and a half point dogs to the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
Yeah, that seems ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
Why were you so excited? Ah, what exactly?
Speaker 4 (01:04:22):
Seemed ridiculous And it seems like they did it on purpose.
Speaker 1 (01:04:25):
Okay, see, let me explain it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:28):
Was it really necessary? It was a two score game.
I mean there was no time left. It was not
like the Texans were gonna score twice. There was no
way they could have scored twice.
Speaker 1 (01:04:39):
I mean they would have looked, what was there seven
seconds left? How long is it? No, it was seven
seconds by the end of the place. So say he had.
Speaker 9 (01:04:47):
So hey, if he kicks it and returns it, you know,
saying whatever, they score a touchdown. That's another play where
you could score a touchdown. Those kick returns and plus
kick returns, new rules on that funny stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:04:59):
Come on, it's something very suspicious. No no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Because here's the thing.
Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
And by the way, Taylor Swift was more excited about
that than any of her boyfriend's catches.
Speaker 1 (01:05:09):
Why was she, Well, he was very busy. I don't know.
That was a lot of catches for Travis today. We'll
get to that just a second.
Speaker 9 (01:05:15):
But Steve, see you lose all your bets, so that's
why you have this attitude of this guy is far less.
Speaker 7 (01:05:20):
This goes back.
Speaker 1 (01:05:21):
I don't have enough time to explain.
Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
One day, I will tell you the the god awful
truth of my gambling history that dates back more than
forty years ago, and a certain trend that happened in
about a two month span that changed me forever, forever,
well forever.
Speaker 9 (01:05:38):
In this instance, people like you and others will be like, ooh,
this was fishy, you know what it was?
Speaker 1 (01:05:44):
This was righteous.
Speaker 9 (01:05:45):
This was a righteous win for the underdogs that Houston
Texans had.
Speaker 1 (01:05:50):
This was a one.
Speaker 9 (01:05:51):
Score game the entirety of it until the very until
the last seven minutes and fairbarn missing three kicks, two
field goals, and an extra point, and then Houston deserved
to cover this game. And if you bet Houston, congratulations.
Don't let anybody tell you different. Twenty three to fourteen
is the final score here as Kansas City advances, Houston covers.
Speaker 1 (01:06:11):
As we just covered, Kyomie Fairbairn was.
Speaker 9 (01:06:14):
A horrendous today, two for four and the two field
goals that went in looked like Ducks missed an extra point.
Houston in general rough showing in this game, even though
it was I'd say they had They kept the close
but eight sacks on CJ.
Speaker 1 (01:06:31):
Stroud.
Speaker 9 (01:06:31):
He had less than two hundred fifty yards passing, no touchdowns,
no interceptions. Joe Mixon was a bright spot with four
point nine yards to carry, eighty eight yards and a touchdown,
but Houston offense wasn't really able to get things going.
Patrick Mahomes after what was one of the worst calls
that you will ever see on the was just what
was it unnecessary roughness in which Patrick Mahomes was quite
(01:06:52):
literally not touched, but that kept the drive alive in
the fourth quarter that was able to give Kansas City
the two schools lead twenty three to fourteen to score.
Kansas City advances to the next round. Texans are shit
going home. In the NBA, the Suns beat the Pistons
one twenty five to one twenty one. Kevin Durant had
thirty six points in the first quarter of the seventy
(01:07:13):
six ers and the Pacers are tied at twenty two
and late in the first quarter of the Celtics have
a twenty eight to nineteen lead over the Hawks.
Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
Great, it's not, Martin, unbelievable. But that's the most reaction
I've seen out of you in a long time.
Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
See, because here's the deal.
Speaker 9 (01:07:27):
I just quickly I won our NFL Picks competition by
one pick me and VJ the show that comes on
next here. I was down because I had the Broncos
covering against the Bills, and that was just what we
call B two. A did no chance of that covering.
So we were on opposite sides here. So now I've
(01:07:47):
made up a game that's big. Okay, Well you guys
no grid Iron geniuses, Yeah we are. We got that
coming up here once again.
Speaker 1 (01:07:55):
Thank you, Martin.
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
Fox Football Saturday, We're alive from the tirerech dot Com studio.
Speaker 1 (01:08:00):
All right, it is that time, all right, So we're
gonna shorten this part of it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
So last week we decided, or I decided, in a
desperate effort, is try to get back into this to
bet against the spreads. Now, Patrick has admitted to all
of us that math is not his strongest suit.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
It really is.
Speaker 2 (01:08:23):
And I, you know, and I'm a numbers guy, so
I just I wrongfully assume everyone.
Speaker 1 (01:08:29):
Just is good with numbers like I am.
Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
So I apologize to you Patrick to put you all
through this, but again, I mean, I lose every competition
when it comes to picks every year. It doesn't matter
who I go against. So I did pick up one point.
So we're on like a Stableford system around points rather
than wins and losses. So I am now six points down.
I mean, I'm still alive, barely. So we are going
(01:08:53):
to pick all three games remaining here in the divisional rounds.
So Patrick, let's get this thing started.
Speaker 3 (01:08:59):
Yes, indeed, well we got three.
Speaker 1 (01:09:01):
Ye're right.
Speaker 10 (01:09:01):
It is now thirty seven Monsey thirty one, Steve six
point difference.
Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
And you know what my number counting.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
It adds the chaos element.
Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
It's all for fun, you know. Well, Monsey doesn't want
to lose this, so she's keeping tracks winning. So she's writing.
Believe me, she's writing every writing it down.
Speaker 10 (01:09:20):
All right, we're gonna go with our first game, and
it's actually one that is later on.
Speaker 1 (01:09:24):
Today.
Speaker 10 (01:09:24):
We have the Washington Commanders on the road taking on
the Detroit lines. Detroit is eight and a half point
favorites at home and the over under for this guys
is wow fifty five and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
That's a big number of Indeed, wow, is that a
big number?
Speaker 7 (01:09:40):
Monsey.
Speaker 3 (01:09:41):
You're the fearless leader in the club house today.
Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
You get to go first.
Speaker 3 (01:09:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:09:47):
That over under is the highest in a playoff game
since the Super Bowl between the Buccaneers and the Chiefs
in twenty Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:09:52):
Like that's crazy, that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
I put it this way, thirty one twenty four is under.
Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
Thirty one twenty four is under.
Speaker 1 (01:10:00):
Because that'll be fifty five.
Speaker 3 (01:10:02):
And part of me wants to say over I might.
Speaker 4 (01:10:05):
Okay, so we've been talking about this, how the commander
is just all of a sudden, people seem to want
to be riding the wave. They're very excited. They think
that they can actually knock off the Lions.
Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
I do not.
Speaker 3 (01:10:17):
The spread is what eight and a half.
Speaker 8 (01:10:21):
Half night.
Speaker 3 (01:10:24):
I actually am taking the Lions.
Speaker 2 (01:10:27):
I am.
Speaker 3 (01:10:27):
I think the Lions are gonna win, and they're gonna
win by more than that.
Speaker 1 (01:10:31):
Okay, so they're gonna cover the cover.
Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
Yeah, I'm taking the Lions to.
Speaker 1 (01:10:34):
Cover the hover. Are you looking at that?
Speaker 3 (01:10:38):
I am, but I I I want part of me
honestly wants to say, you know what, let's take the over.
Speaker 2 (01:10:46):
Oh she's going over over. Okay, well, so you're gonna
go Lions in the over.
Speaker 3 (01:10:52):
Lions and the over.
Speaker 1 (01:10:53):
That's on the record.
Speaker 3 (01:10:54):
I'm putting it down, yet putting.
Speaker 2 (01:10:55):
It down Commanders and the under. I really like the
under in this game. I'm not wild about the commanders,
but you've been talking up a good game. There's a
lot of people out there that have been talking up
the commanders. I am certainly not in a position where
I got to look at possible openings here, and I
(01:11:17):
do like the under in this game. I'm not wild
about the commanders, but I'm going to go for it.
So I'll take the Commanders to stay within a touchdown
at least under eight and a half, and I do
believe that. I think the commander is going to have
problems scoring in this game. The Lions is the big question.
Just how many points are the Lions going to put up?
Speaker 4 (01:11:37):
Exactly like the Lions could put up forty on by themselves, easy, easily.
Speaker 1 (01:11:42):
So I'm going to roll the dice.
Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
I'm not one hundred percent confident in this one, but
I'm gonna roll the dice and I'll take the Commanders
and the under.
Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
Any bold predictions here, I think I have one.
Speaker 3 (01:11:52):
I think I have one.
Speaker 1 (01:11:53):
Okay, talk to me.
Speaker 3 (01:11:54):
I think Jaden Daniels. I expect a lot of blitzing.
Speaker 4 (01:11:58):
So I think Jayden Daniels is going to rush for
over one hundred yards if you don't want take it.
Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
But he's only done that one time this season.
Speaker 1 (01:12:04):
Oh, I'll take that.
Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
That's a that's a bold that the Jayden Daniels over
one hundred rolls.
Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
That for a bold. How about this, I'll have a bold.
Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
Jared Goff will throw more interceptions than touchdown passes. Wow, wow,
more I t more ion tees than touchdown passes. If
it's even that, that's a push. A push doesn't count.
He has to have more iron t's than touchdown passes
in the skit.
Speaker 1 (01:12:28):
No, that's that's that's specific enough. I like it all right,
So we got that game in the books.
Speaker 2 (01:12:33):
On the other side, we'll get to the two games
tomorrow between the Rams, Eagles Ravens Bills. Part of our
game Day Geniuses right here on Fox Football Saturday, Steve
Harbin and Montci Belgios here Fox Football Saturday Live from
the Tirack dot Com studios.
Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
I want to thank our crew today, Martin doing literally everything.
Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
Triple duty, triple duty, triple duty.
Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
Brilliant, is always very excited about that lake cover.
Speaker 2 (01:12:59):
And I don't know, again, why would you take an
intentional safety with an eleven point lead and I don't know, twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:13:07):
Seconds left, I mean would question mark for sure?
Speaker 2 (01:13:10):
And then of course Mary Mack, who is on top
of her game today, she's enjoying life at age twenty one,
which is something we all remember at least.
Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
Sort of times.
Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
And then there's Patrick Patrick, Patrick Patrick doing a brilliant
job just holding it down right. Now, are you excited
about wearing your Dodger gear there? About Rokie Sasaki?
Speaker 3 (01:13:33):
Absolutely, I am.
Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
I mean you have Yamamoto Sasaki oh Tani. That's three
fifths of your rotation. And then you add Blake Snell
and then hope that Tyler Glass now is healthy.
Speaker 1 (01:13:48):
Long live the Empire.
Speaker 3 (01:13:50):
Yes again, dynasties.
Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
That's a major upgrade from you know, Flaherty and Walker Buehller.
Speaker 3 (01:13:57):
Hey, all of those players came in.
Speaker 1 (01:13:59):
Well that's it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
And Almamoto is the only guy that actually started in
the postseason. So four new starters gonna be interesting, all right.
So we got one game in the books. We got
two to go here, Patrick.
Speaker 10 (01:14:10):
Oh yeah, well you're talking about the LA Dodgers. Well,
we're gonna transition from baseball back to NFL. We have
the Los Angeles Rams taking on the Philadelphia Eagles. Eagles
are in fact home for this they're six and a
half point favorites at home, and the over under is
forty two and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
Yeah, that's not fifty five and a half. That's certainly
not I will go first. I take on this one's usty. Okay, Well,
look at the weather's gonna be cold.
Speaker 1 (01:14:37):
We talked to.
Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
Yah Man Adam Kaplan a little bit, a little bit earlier.
It's gonna be snowing. Could be snowing the entire game.
Speaker 1 (01:14:45):
So look at it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
I took the dog and I took the under in
the first game, and I'm gonna repeat that in this game.
I think the Rams are gonna stay close in this game.
I don't know why the Eagles are six and a
half point favorites. This is a field goal game, and
I think that it's going to be tough sledding literally
in terms of getting points on the board.
Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
So I will take the Rams and I will take
the under the Rams.
Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
I'm writing this down as well before.
Speaker 4 (01:15:20):
I you know, man, you know, so yesterday when I
did this, I also took the Rams to cover on
a different show, but I wasn't necessarily comfortable with that,
and like I thought that, I want to change my mind.
It's just that I'm competing against you. So here I'm
trying to, you know, play the strategy that I do think.
(01:15:43):
I see a scenario where Matthew Stafford, who does not
necessarily play well in cold places and in cold games,
his record is not that great.
Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
I can see a.
Speaker 4 (01:15:51):
Scenario where the Eagles pull away and win by at
least a touchdown. But yesterday and another show, I don't
I'll take the rounds covering the spread. But since I'm
competing against you and you took that, I am going
to take the Eagles to cover the spread. And you
said you took the overs under.
Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
The under under forty and a half half. Oh yeah, under.
It's like a seventeen fourteen.
Speaker 3 (01:16:22):
Game could be strategic to take unders to.
Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
No, No, that would make it.
Speaker 3 (01:16:27):
That doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 1 (01:16:28):
No, either she doesn't take the over under or she yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
No, I'm not I'm not doing that. No, I won't
touch it. And I'm not going over.
Speaker 1 (01:16:35):
I'll h h prop bets on this one. Bold any bold,
be bolder?
Speaker 2 (01:16:43):
Ummmmm, it's I have something in mind, but that's not
all that bold, so I'm not even gonna say it.
Speaker 1 (01:16:52):
Fair, h Okay, I have a bold, yes, sir Kyraen Williams.
Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
Yes, We'll have at least twenty more yards rushing than
Saquon Barkley in this game.
Speaker 1 (01:17:13):
Wow, I'm not just saying more yards at.
Speaker 2 (01:17:16):
Least twenty more yards rushing rushing then Saquon Barkley.
Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
Is that a bold prediction because we're not giving me
a number, so whatever?
Speaker 2 (01:17:24):
Yeah, I mean, obviously he's a good running back, so right,
but at least twenty more yards rushing than Saquon, I'll
take that.
Speaker 10 (01:17:32):
I will take that, okay, all right, Well, with that said,
that is now the last one we have, or we
have one more left.
Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
We have the end all be all.
Speaker 10 (01:17:40):
We have the Ravens on the road taking on the bills.
Ravens on the Road are actually one point favorite, just one,
and the over under is fifty one in a half.
Speaker 1 (01:17:49):
It's a bit.
Speaker 3 (01:17:49):
It's a big one, one, Manzi, you get to go first,
all right? This really is a coin flip. This one
is is tough.
Speaker 4 (01:17:57):
We know it's going to be a cold game, and
I expect a lot of running and yeah, they the
Ravens have the better one two punch with Lamar and
Derrick Henry, but we're acting like Josh Allen and James
Cook can't also be a good one to punch in
this situation.
Speaker 3 (01:18:13):
No, Zay Flowers, I think is going to be a
big hit.
Speaker 4 (01:18:16):
And so I'm actually I will take the Bills at
home covering the spread.
Speaker 1 (01:18:25):
Well, the Bills are undefeated at home, Yes they are.
Speaker 2 (01:18:29):
Uh wow, I sort of like the Bills here. The
question is do I take the Ravens strategy I know
well and and say I've been going with the dogs
and they are actually favored in this game.
Speaker 3 (01:18:43):
Yeah they are. And it keeps moving up a little
up and down right now, and the.
Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
Weather is just going to be brutally cold fifty and
have seems yeah, I mean twenty seven to twenty four
is an under.
Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
Yeah, in those weather conditions because there because the US
can play in that weather.
Speaker 4 (01:19:01):
So I think they're expecting the Bills to score, and
then the Ravens are just going to score as well.
Speaker 3 (01:19:04):
Keep up.
Speaker 2 (01:19:06):
I'm taking the Ravens and I'm taking the over over
over and a half.
Speaker 1 (01:19:12):
Against conventional wisdom. So after taking the underdogs and the
under in the first two games, I'm going with.
Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
A favorite and the over over in this game Ravens
over Bolder Boulders.
Speaker 1 (01:19:26):
Wait, she might want it to go wonder.
Speaker 3 (01:19:28):
No, I'm not going under on this one.
Speaker 10 (01:19:29):
No, no, no.
Speaker 3 (01:19:30):
The weather is a big question mark here.
Speaker 1 (01:19:33):
So I don't know old predictions.
Speaker 3 (01:19:35):
I don't think I have a bold. No, I just
I don't know how this game is going to go.
It's a coin flip. No, you got a bold, get
it out.
Speaker 1 (01:19:44):
I'm trying to think of it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
How about the fact that Lamar Jackson, y'all will have
at least fifty more yards rushing than Derrick Henry.
Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
That is so funny because that's what I was thinking.
Speaker 2 (01:19:57):
Really, I was thinking that Lamar was Lamar Jackson have
at least fifty more yards rushing than his teammate Derick Henry.
Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
This is Fox Football Saturday.
Speaker 3 (01:20:06):
I swear
