Speaker 1 (00:00):
Please, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Let me dream once again here on another huge Saturday
in the sports world.
Speaker 3 (00:09):
This is Fox Sports Saturday.
Speaker 2 (00:11):
We're broadcasting live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. And
look who is here. My dear friend, Olden Polonies is
in the house.
Speaker 4 (00:19):
That's right, Old and have you ready?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
It's great to see you, as always, my friend, I
tell you what we have so much to do in
such a short amount of time. Reminder again, Adam Kaplan,
our NFL insider, is going to be joining us as
we are coming to the very end of this draft.
We've got about twenty five more picks before the draft
is over. So Adam Kaplan, our Fox Sports Radio NFL
Insider will join us in about fifteen minutes. And then
(00:43):
in the next segment next hour, Mark Mendena, our NBA Insider,
will join us as we break down what's going on
in these NBA playoffs.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Old and let's let's start with the story of the day.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Obviously, after a long wait, shod Or Sanders finally selected
in the fifth round by the Cleveland Browns. I just
want to say this right now because I know a
lot of people are going to get into the whole
politics of it and interviews and all the other reasons
why he would fall this far in the draft. I
just want to talk about his football skills and talking
(01:14):
to some people about Shador Sanders leading Epton draft. Here's
what you get. Let's make one thing about Shador Sanders clear.
He's not a mobile quarterback. In two years at Colorado
negative one hundred and twenty seven yards rushing. He basically
is a sacky. He's not a runner. He is a
pocket passer. He's also a guy that doesn't have a
great sense of the pocket. Not only did he get
(01:36):
sacked a lot, he got sacked for big losses. And
that comes down to very quick decision making that you
got to make at the NFL level.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
As far as.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Throwing the football, highest completion percentage in FBS history, but
it seems like every time they are showing a highlight,
I mean, he's throwing the ball to Travis Hunter's making
some kind of acrobatic you know, bock body contortion cats.
So throwing to the best wide receiver in the nation
will certainly help any quarterback.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
But when they break.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
It down, they said, yeah, he throws a pretty accurate
deep ball where he struggles a little bit, or the
shorter passes, doesn't throw a very tight ball. I was
talking about for a lot of people leading up to
this draft. When I was predicting Jackson Dart would go
before him, I'd say, look at YouTube highlights of these
two quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Look at the velocity on the ball.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Jackson dark just throws a better football than Chador Sanders.
So these are a lot of the things that you know,
talking to people leaning up to the draft led me
to believe, and I said right here a week ago,
don't be surprised if Jackson Dart is off the board
before Shador Sanders. However, olden this one. I want to
pass the baton to you. That only accounts for the
(02:44):
first round. That doesn't account for the second round, the
third round, the fourth round, five other quarterbacks off the
clock before he actually scot selected by the Browns, who
had earlier, of course, drafted Dylan Gabriel out of Oregon.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
So what is your thought as we sit here now
on the Chador situation.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Well, basically, everything you spoke is the same thing you
know I had heard and talked about as well, you know,
what should do. There was some things about his basketball
skills set, I mean football skill set rather a basketball
guy mainly. But but there were some things about his
football skill set that had kind of like turned people
(03:21):
off a little bit. And again, you know, you alluded
to it, you know, the fact that he's not, you know,
a running quarter quarterback. He sits in the pocket. Yes,
we get all that, he's six one maybe just you know,
those were those were football things. But at the same time,
(03:43):
you know he can throw the ball. You know, he's
he's a tough kid. With all them sacks, I think
I would have quit maybe a year ago. I'm not
gonna keep getting beat up like that. And that's not
his fault. That's the old that's the old lines fault.
You know, you got to protect your quarterback. I say
that to say this. We can talk about all that stuff,
(04:06):
but at the end of the day, I never saw him.
Even I said he's gonna tumble like Geno Smith. I
was actually joking about that. I'd never realized because I've
seen all the mock drafts. I've seen everything. I saw
what camp. Of course, Kim Wall was gonna probably go
number one. We knew that, you know, mill Row all
those guys, So it's just like, whoa wait a minute now,
(04:29):
first round, Yeah, okay, second round, he should have gone
by now. But once we got past the third round,
I'm like, okay, this is more than football.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Well, and that's exactly it. We have never seen ever
someone dropped like this. Like you said, we've seen projected
first round drix picks, you know, fall late in the
first or into the second round. We have never ever
seen someone projected to possibly be a top three pick
in this draft. With Cleveland and the Giants sitting there
at two and three lookoking for a quarterback, to see
(05:01):
him drop all the way into the fifth round, it
is unprecedented. But also remember this, there were not that
many teams looking for a quarterback in this draft.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
We knew that.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Going in, right, I mean, we knew Cleveland might be
looking for a quarterback. Pittsburgh, the Giants, the Saints were
another team that may be looking for a quarterback. But
there was not that many teams looking for a quarterback.
And also consider this, if you're a coach and you're
in search of a quarterback in the draft, that means
you're on the hot seat. Like the reason that you're
(05:33):
looking for a quarterback is the quarterback you have is
not working for you. You better find the right guy
or your job is going to be extinguished. And so
when we hear the stories about Brian Dables sitting down
with Shador Sanders and he had sort of given him
like a homework assignment, you know, basically leading into the meeting,
like Okay, I want you to break down on a
(05:55):
certain play thing. And he shows up completely unprepared to
disregarded what Dabel had asked him to do and then
got upset when Dabel got upset with him. Well, you're
Brian Dabel. I mean, frankly, he should have been fired
after last year, or really should have been fired after
he was the one that convinced the Giants to hook
up with Daniel Jones as their quarterback.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
But if you're right back, Steve, I'm a Giants fan.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Okay, Well, then Brian Dabele is considered that quarterback whisperer,
right the guy that suddenly turned Josh Allen's career around
when he was in Buffalo. But if you're Brian Dabele
and you have that kind of meeting with Shador Sanders,
You're like, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna hitch my
wagon to this kid. If we're not on the same page.
He looks at Jackson Dart. They move up into the
(06:40):
first round and he gets the quarterback. Now, Jackson Dart
maybe a bust. Brian Dabel could still be out of
a job next year, but at least he's going with
a guy that he goes into the season feeling comfortable with.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
Oh yeah, definitely, And I'm okay with that, you know,
but the Giants, you know, not picking should I thought
was again based on other than football. But at the
same time, some of this has to go to Shadua.
It's like, dude, your professional athlete. I mean, you've been
a professional athlete for a couple of years now, it's
(07:12):
not right now you're a professional. You've been getting an IL,
so you've been a professional. You have to act accordingly.
So if this man, for whatever reasons, I mean coaches,
you know, they ain'tal So it's like, okay, he gives
you an assignment to a damn thing. Make yourself look
as best as you can. But again, I'll share this
with you. So when the Stealers came up, when they
(07:35):
drafted came up, I literally had a text ready for
Mike Tomlin. I was gonna text him because I'm like
I was about to go. I wrote it, congratulations on
shador a great pickup, and it went right by, and
I was like, wait a minute, so this must meet
Aaron Anon Rogerson played possibly, but I was like, wait
(07:59):
a minute, steal, y'all need a quarterback. You just got
rid of two of them.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Well you brought back Mason Rudolph. Come on, look, I
agree with you. Unless they have some kind of deals
said with US Atlanta to get Kirk Cousins.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
Maybe that's in the works.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
As far as Aaron Rodgers situation is, and well, I
wish we could put this thing to rest.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
I think shortly we will. Aaron Rodgers does not want
to play for the Steelers. No, the team he wanted
to play for was the Vikings because that was.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Already made team. Sam Darnold was gone. They got the
rookie they drafted last year. JJ McCarthy. I think he
called the the Vikings acknowledged it Doctor Rodgers. I'm sure
he was telling him, look, give JJ another year. I'm
ready to go right now. You got all the weapons,
will win a Super Bowl and I'll go off and
the sun said, you hand it off to JJ McCarthy,
and the Vikings attitude was thanks for the call, but
(08:45):
no thanks, and so he's he really doesn't believe that
the Steelers are a quarterback away from.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Winning a Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Time is limited, so I would hope we would finally
hear retirement from Aaron Rodgers move on from that. But yeah,
when the Steelers passed on him, and then the irony
of this entire situation is this the being drafted by
the Browns just two rounds after they draft Dylan Gabriel.
This actually is the best opportunity for Shador Sanders.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Think about it.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Obviously, Deshaun Watson's done okay, so they go, you know,
you have Flaco Flacco's the insurance policy.
Speaker 3 (09:23):
You bring in Kenny Pickett.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
You done zero, and they have Gabriel and then you
have Shador Sanders. So forget Flacco and Deshaun Watson. They're
out of BIX. Chador Sanders is a better quarterback than
Dylan Gabriel and can he Pickett. So he is going
to actually get as a fifth round pick, an opportunity.
Almost any other quarterback drafted in the fifth round is
(09:46):
staring at a.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Backup job period.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
He actually will get a chance in Cleveland to win that.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
Job, definitely, And that's why sometimes you just got to
sit back and let the domin of those fall, uh
and just be happy. One of the things that I noticed,
you know, with his social media, you know how excited
he was. He's dancing. He and his brother Shiloh, they dancing.
And I know we're in that social media world and
age where you know, a lot of this is probably
(10:15):
because they got a TV show in the works or
something like that. But the optics made him amazing. The
optics made him people want his jerseys now I'm following.
Everybody gained so much more respect fro him. So I
approud him, his staff, whoever's involved for those optics. But
(10:39):
to your point, that was the best situation he could
end up in.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (10:46):

(11:57):
code Sports. All right, let's find out the man that
has been covering this from the very beginning to now
the finish line. We are down to the final few
picks in this year's NFL draft.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
To the great, Adam Kaplan is joining us right now.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Adam, I could pretend and say, all right, let's immediately
get to which teams on paper at least looked like
they did the best job in this year's draft. But
we obviously have to start with the Shador Sanders situation.
I was telling Olden here, Look, I wasn't surprised he
fell out of the first round. More and more people
were telling me, don't be surprised if Jackson Dark goes
(12:31):
ahead of him in this draft. But once he got
through the second day, then all of a sudden, eyebrows
were raised and he ends up with Cleveland. By the way,
he's not the worst situation. It's hard to believe a
fifth round pick actually has a chance during the starting job.
But give us a little the background of how Shador
Sanders won from what many perceived as a guy that
could go at the top of the draft or near
the top of the draft and fall all the way
(12:53):
into the fifth round.
Speaker 6 (12:54):
Guy, it's gonna be with you, yes, So basically something
I've be talking about on FSR.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
I don't know last three for weeks.
Speaker 6 (12:59):
It's just be careful of where you think he's going
to go, because he's not going to go as high
as you think.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
Now. Did I think it's going to be a fifth round?
Speaker 3 (13:05):
No?
Speaker 1 (13:05):
I thought he goes as late as the third. So
I'm just going to be real with you.
Speaker 6 (13:09):
This is you know where I did television on Thursday
and Friday, So this is a big story. So I
talked to a lot of NFL people, coaches, front office people, more,
and this is just the this is the consensus. I'll
give you an example of what could potentially happen, and
it could this could happen. So let's say, let's say
with Shoud or Sanders, right, Let's say that we know
(13:30):
that Sehau Watts is highly unlikely to play the season
coming back from the same tourn achilles. You know he's
now he's suffered at torn achilles twice of the same leg.
So let's say you know, Joe Flacco and everybody else
are canning pick it if he's still on the team.
They have four quarterbacks or other quarterbacks, right, they have
five on the team. Let's say it's not working out
and it looks like they're losing, and you know, people
(13:51):
are saying, well, why aren't they putting shador in? So
the media in Colorado could keep asking Dion his father
every day and teams don't like side shows.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Okay, that's not what I'm.
Speaker 6 (14:03):
Just telling you this has came directly from a very
high ranking NFL official. They just don't like it, and
that is part of this. Whether you want to believe
or not, I'm telling you this is from people actually
work for NFL teams, Because I had I put this
out there last night and I got ripped on Twitter
for because Sports Grid, the TV company work.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
For, put it out. I don't care.
Speaker 6 (14:21):
It's my you know, I never worry about what people think.
It's come from NFL teams, but this situation was fascinating.
I've not covered it. This is my twenty seventh year
of covering the NFL. I've never covered a situation like this.
I've seen quarterbacks drop, but the reason for him dropping
is not so much on the field related.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Believe this or not.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Hey Adam, Yes, how you doing, Olden?
Speaker 1 (14:42):
Yeah, good to talk to you again, to talk to you.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
And we've been saying that man, that this is beyond football,
and so now I guess I got to ask a
question from the about the elephant in the room. Even
though we've never seen this, you know, you said it
in twenty seven years mal Kipers said the same thing
so many.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
I didn't hear what did Mel say?
Speaker 4 (15:02):
Yeah, Mel said in his forty seven years, Yeah, I
know me a little bit. This guy was a top
five pick. He's never seen anybody drop.
Speaker 1 (15:09):
I would not agree with that, but that's fine, Okay, fine.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
But my question is this Woods Shadoor have any kind
of recourse or any other player based on that, because
would they be enough to like say, okay, this is
actually like out of pocket for them to do, or
is it just it's going to be all to do
about nothing nothing.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
There's nothing you could do about it. It's football, man,
It's it's just the way it is.
Speaker 6 (15:36):
It's it's a truly unique situation old and I can't
think of a story like this before. And then you know,
I I'm assuming this is the real tweet that Dion
put out there as a well before his son was
drafted and he talked about Cleveland and he took a
shot at him again allegedly. If it's if the tweet's true,
it's just you can't have that. It's and I know there,
(15:56):
I know the front office and the coach staff a
little bit, so I think he went actually, to be
honest with you, if this all plays out, he's way
more talented Dylan Gabriel also who was drafted ahead of
him with the Browns in third run. It's a smaller quarterback,
Kenny Pickett is not long for that football team. And
Joe Flacco, who's just you know, a journeyman, stopgap guy.
If olden, if this thing plays out right, and I
(16:18):
know that we got a long way to go here,
it's not even a lock to chouldor and make the team.
He should there's there's there's a path for him to
be a starter by your three. I mean, that's the funny.
That's the funny thing is we end this if he
plays his cartoon, he actually may be a starter.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
For them in the future. That's the funny thing.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Again, I said, this is a perfect situation for him.
He gets an opportunity without that pressure. And by the way,
if it doesn't work or too much outside, no he's happens.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
You cut him to thround pick. Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
They cut all the time, and maybe someone else wants
to roll the dice on him. All right, let's talk
about anything other than should Door's standards.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
Sure, Now, I go back all the way back to
nineteen ninety eight draft when I was in sand Diego.
In the draft.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
The Chargers moved up to get Ryan Leaf for the
second overall pick, and the local papers gave them a
A plus in the draft. I'm like, you know, grading
a draft after the draft when they haven't played a
game is like literally grading the test before you taken
the test.
Speaker 3 (17:16):
I mean, it's just ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
I mean I don't do them, so, but I preface
by saying, on paper, okay, in other words, you have
certain needs. You go in with a game plan to
address certain needs on your team.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
So at least on.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
Paper, who do you believe did the best job at
this year's draft.
Speaker 6 (17:38):
I thought Washington really did well. They had a major
problem on the offensive line last season. I don't know
how they held guys. Their line was bought bottom five talent,
really well coached by Bobby Johnson, has been in the
league a long time, but they overachieved. So I love
the pick of Josh Connolly. He will play right tackle,
not left. Remember they made the trade for Laramie Tunsel.
(17:58):
Think they got him over from the Texans. I really
like that move. I look at what they did Trey
Amos was what had first round grades from teams that
I spoke with he was their second round pick.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
He should start. You're one.
Speaker 6 (18:10):
Now, what this will give them the ability to do
is Mike Saindrastil, who was terrific, who was a second rounder.
Let's he's a from Michigan. He played on the outside,
but he's really drafted to play nickel, So why up
being their nickel? All of a sudden, now they've got
and they've had a good off seas. They're very aggressive
in freegency, Steve, all of a sudden, now they could
compete with Philly. You know, you saw they got boat
race in the playoffs in Philly. But they've had a
(18:32):
very aggressive offseason. I think Philly is still better. But
the Eagles lost five defensive starters in free agency, so
I thought they really did well. And I'm going to
give you another one. I love what Chicago did. I
know a lot of people scratch their heads.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Why are they.
Speaker 6 (18:47):
Drafting the tight end at tenth overall when they have
call Comett? Well, think optionality, Think the ability to spread
the field. Right with Ben Johnson, who's very creative, who's
their head coach and will call the plays. Luther Burden
who dropped to the second round, I'm told dude to
more of football character and nothing off the field, just
a couple of things that he could be better with.
They've loaded up on offense. They also they were aggressive
(19:10):
and free agency. Their team, I think has really helped themselves.
I think they're a team that will push for a
playoff spot. You know, last year the hype was ridiculous
and they came up. They've made a terrible losing streak
and that staff got fired. But I thought they really
helped themselves. And should I even say it? The Cleveland
Brown So I love that trade. We didn't talk about that. Yeah,
I know they gave up on a generational player. I
(19:31):
get that, but he's not a quarterback. They have Jacksonville's
first round pick, which could be top ten next season.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
Yeah, not top five.
Speaker 6 (19:37):
I actually love it. Andrew Berry has not been a
very good GM if you just look at the most
that he's made in his career. The worst transaction NFL
history was the Watson trade, Steve, but they sent it
back to you. I love what he got there. He
got tremendous value from trading from two to five.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Yeah, Adam, I have It's like a two part question. Sure,
but they're both real quick. Yeah, any chances that this
year I have a son that plays both sides of
the ball.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
Oh, that's happening. Now the question is Olden, where does
he line up more? Does he line up more corner receiver?
That they sounds like they're going to play him at both. Now,
here's the way it's going to work though overtime, because
the draft is always about the future. It's not about
just one year. Eventually they're gonna have to pick one spot. Now,
what's more of a need from them? Clearly cornerback. They've
(20:22):
got one code corner and Tyson Campbell is always hurt.
It's not like they need a playment receiver. But he's
so dynamic and so gifted. When you go what's called
eleven personnel, when you go three receivers, one back in
one tight end, you could stick them out there. They're
reready have Brian Thomas junior with phenomenals or rookie. He
was way well talking to the Jaguars, he was better
than anticipated. So they could do any thing that they want.
(20:45):
It's going to be cool though for the fans of
the Jaguars. We know for the last twenty years or so,
they'll be mostly terrible. Let's call it like it is.
They've they've mostly been bad. This gives them a shot
in the arm. They have a new gm, new front office,
and the new coaches deaf, and this gives him something
that's really really cool to watch. The fact I'm gonna
i haven't been in the training camp a number of years.
I'm absolutely going to see this kid awesome.
Speaker 4 (21:07):
And the second part of that was the whole thing
with Mark Murphy leaving and everything else with the Green
Bay Packers, with this public thing that they have who
runs the team.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Well, you should know that it's sort of like this.
Speaker 6 (21:22):
It's a putt. Well, it's it's it's it's owned by
the fans. It's owned by the public. But they have
a front office. It's just a it's it's a very
interesting thing. Mark Murphy, I'm old enough to remember old
not know if you remember him. He was a safety
of very tall safety for Washington in the eighties. Actually
a Super Bowl winner Joe Gibbs, really good, really good player,
(21:44):
and it became their CEO. Yeah, they don't. It's the
only one in the NFL. And I don't know what
it's like in other sports to be owned by the public.
It's public trust. It's really interesting. In fact, you could
get shares by the I don't know why I didn't
buy them. They were offered to mental Why buy them?
I guess I'm cheap, But no, it's a they're a
very interesting team. And by the way, they're very manning.
Every year they have a great roster. They always underachieved
(22:05):
in the playoffs. Great, they're like I've called them, like
Mark Jackson. In the regular season, they're dominant, but they
they're terrible in the playoffs for some reason.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
All right, well, we're going to give you a week
to digest everything that's gone on here, and obviously we'll
get much more into it next week about teams, and
I'm sure we'll have more on the fallout about Shador
Sanders and everything else.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
But Adam always appreciate the time.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
It's hard to believe that the NFL Draft is down
to I think we have fifteen pigs left, so we're
down mister irrelevant who's no longer relevant party situation? Right,
I always thought that would have been unbelievable at Yeah,
like I yes, that would.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Oh do you think you would have shown up for? That?
Whole thing is mister irrelevant, I.
Speaker 6 (22:49):
Have to tell you the real quick before we get
out of here. It's twenty seconds Cliff Notes, Storret and
Rock Party. So a friend of mine who's probably the
best again twenty seven years, by far, the best of
value in the national football like he hated Don. It's
a person because this guy can't play. He's terribly can't throw.
But it shows you if you go to the right system, Yeah,
the guy could be better than you think.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
Yes, over half the guys in the Hall of Fame
are there because of their talent. The other half are
there because they're in the right place, right time, right system.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
It's very simple. Great stuff has always Adam. We'll talk
to you next week.
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Sounds good, guys, Thank you, Adam Kaplan our NFL insider.
Now let's find out what is trending. May getting ready
for his own show. He's chopping at the bit load.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
I know that Rice.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Martin is in the house. How you doing, See I'm
doing great? Olden's so excited to see here Martin.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
Oh wait, that's my god. Did the show last week?
Was a teugh guy. Now I'm gonna change my name
to poly Knice.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Now, yeah, I do have to say.
Speaker 7 (23:47):
Olden did say the Thunder may have a little bit
of trouble with the Grizzlies.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
They did today.
Speaker 7 (23:54):
They did today in game four of before games sweet one,
seventeenth to one to fifteen.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
The final score.
Speaker 7 (23:59):
Memphis going home home, putting an end merciful end to
a season that ended, you know.
Speaker 3 (24:04):
Just the firing of the head coach.
Speaker 7 (24:06):
And now say Gillis Alexander with thirty eight points six
assists in Memphis' final game of the year. Thunder advanced
first team to advance to the second round. The Cleveland
Cavaliers will be joining them, likely in short order. Three
to zero, the series lead one to twenty four, eighty seven.
The final score today. Jared Allen had a points and
(24:28):
rebounds up with the old Donald.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Mitchell was sixteen points.
Speaker 7 (24:30):
The Clippers and the Nuggets right now two oh six
left in the first quarter, Denver with a twenty four
to seventeen lead, Clippers.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
With a to one lead in the series.
Speaker 7 (24:39):
Jokic and Zubox going out of yokis six, Zubox with five,
and the NFL Draft news, you guys been talking about
it to Cleveland Browns traded up with the Seattle Seahawks
to selection you Doris Sanders with one hundred and forty
fourth pick in the fifth round. Cleveland gave Seattle it's
you know, two late round picks to move up. They
also drafted Dylan Gay in the third round. So sha
(25:01):
Dor Sanders not only is not the second quarterback drafted,
it was the second quarterback drafted by his own team.
But Seahawks traded Sam Howell to the Vikings. You know,
they traded a fifth rounder and Sam Howe to get
a fifth rounder back and drafted Jalen Milroe in the
third round Alabama quarterback. The Steelers were one of the
target landing spots for shir Door Sanders. He didn't go there, obviously,
(25:25):
but they did draft the quarterback Ohio State's Will.
Speaker 3 (25:28):
Howard in the sixth round.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
In the NHL.
Speaker 7 (25:31):
With seven minutes left in the third period, the Golden
Knights in the Wild tied three apiece earlier today, so
the Lightning beat the Panthers five to one to get
back into that series, still two to one margin in
the Panthers favor thought him at the fifth inning Mets
in the Nationals two to nothing, Phillies ten to four
over the Cubs on Fox and the eighth, top of
the ninth tie two to two between the Giants and
(25:52):
the Rangers, White Sox with ten to three lead over
the A's on the bottom of the ninth, top of
the second, Red Sox with a one nothing lead over
the Guardians in game two of a doubleheader, and another
game two of a doubleheader Orioles and Tigers scoreless bottom
of the second inning.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
Back to you guys, by the way, you know you
mentioned the second quarterback taken on his own team, And
by the way, this is far from uncommon. It actually
has happened quite a few times in the NFL history
where a team has taken multiple quarterbacks in the same draft.
One of the more famous ones was RG three, who
(26:28):
was a high first round pick obviously of the then
Washington Redskins, and then they took Kirk Cousins in the
same draft. And you're like, why would you use a
fourth round pick on a quarterback when you use one
of the top picks in the draft on a quarterback.
RG three was offensive Rookie of the Year, phenomenal rookie season,
leading the team into the playoffs. Then he got hurt
and the thing, you know, Kirk Cousins is your starting quarterbacks.
(26:50):
So again, it doesn't matter where you are drafted, you're
going to get the same opportunity.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
And thirty two out of thirty two teams, I.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
Promise you will play the best player, regardless of where
they were drafted. We have undrafted players constantly not just
make it into the NFL, but exceed succeed in the NFL.
So there's nothing lost here for Shador Sanders. He got drafted.
He's going to an NFL team and he's going to
(27:19):
get the same opportunity that every other drafted player will
receive to make that team.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
Oh definitely. And that's how it is in football. You know,
fifty three man roster, ninety five percent of the people
that got drafted, we don't even know who they are.
We don't know what school they went to, but they're
going to be lining up on Sunday. You know, they're
going to make the starting team and everything else. So Shadah,
good for him. He finally got drafted. That monkey got
(27:48):
off his back a little bit. But you know, again,
I love the optics because he was celebrating and he
was happy, and I think he generally was happy, and so.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
He should be happy.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
He should be because you'll go into a really good
situation where you could potentially get some time. And so,
I man, I ain't mad at him right now.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
No, I'm not mad at him at all. I want
to see what Youador Sanders can do. I want to
see what this guy can do at the NFL level.
Steve Harvin, Olden Poulines. By the way, we are live

ask you this, Olden, because you come from a different
era as do I. You know, when we look back
at retro pay, well, yes, I can't imagine what the
(28:54):
University of Virginia would be paying you these days, as
they're big with nil money.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
But I'm going to guess back in the day was
a big zero.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
And but this actually came up a year ago with
Caleb Williams, who was, you know, going to be the
number one overall pick, and then people started knocking them
a little bit about attitude. By some reports, he received
as much as ten million dollars in two years at
USC and nil money winning the Heisman Trophy obviously before
(29:22):
he comes in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
But how how do you.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
Believe, you know, if the criticism of shador is fair,
He's made millions of dollars in his two years at
the University of Colorado, so he's already been living the
lifestyle and then all of a sudden, you know, it's
not like the old days where you're looking for that
first paycheck and you've got to be on your best
behavior and you got to say the right things and
you got to impress the people that ultimately are going
(29:47):
to put money in your pocket for the first time.
How much do you think that has changed now, especially
with players at the top of the draft, that quarterback position,
with the money they're making at the collegiate level, how
much has that change their die in terms of their
mindset going into the NFL.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Oh, it's changed drastically because they're Shure Doll's taking a
pay cute chure doors literally taking a pay cut right now.
I mean he was getting that money, and that's again,
that's the world we're in. This anil think, so you
know it is, it's the way of the world, so
we have to accept it. But I believe that one
(30:24):
of the problems. And I'm not saying that this is
Shadoor anybody else because I could say the same thing
about cam Ward, I could say it about Milrow, I
could say it about any player that got drafted. But
there's a hesitation about hunger. How hungry are you? You've
been getting this, you know now it's so easy to
(30:45):
just transfer, getting a portal and make more money. So
where's the hunger coming from? You mentioned about you know,
my era, we were hungry. I remember the food stamps books.
So it's like that was my grind. I had to
get the hell out of this situation. I was hungry
(31:05):
for it. I don't see a lot of hunger anymore
in these guys because they said they're comfortable. You know,
they got fantoms, they got houses, they got jewelry. I'm
watching the trap everybody's got that we got asking Jensy
with diamond crusted and crusted crock of crocs.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
I'm like, come on, man, let me remember if I
remember right, you came out after your junior year, right, yes, okay,
how much did Virginia try.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
To convince you to stay one more year?
Speaker 4 (31:34):
Oh? None? I was not staying. I needed to go
make some money and it was personal stuff. My mom
was sick. I had to get her, right. But yeah,
but to think about Virginia though, Terry Holland rest in peace.
He slept with the NCAA rulebuck right, So it's like
there was nothing happening.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
Well, I mean they were under the scrutiny of your predecessor,
that Ralph Sampson guy. Yeah, so like why did he
go to Virginia that whole thing and everything else.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
So I understand what it's all about.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
But now, well, I guess my concern is because you
know me, Olden, I'm a college sports fan. I live
and breathe college football, college basketball. No knock on the pros,
because the pros are the best of the best.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
And I know that.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
But there's always been something romantic in my mind about
collegiate sports, and now all of a sudden it's changing
dramatically in this transfer porter.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
It's one thing to pay the players.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
Fine, they've earned that with this free reign to go
from free agency free agency. I mean this what was
his name?
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Shuck?
Speaker 2 (32:31):
It looks like show, is that, but it's pronounced shuck.
The quarterback that got taken out of Louisville, right, he
was the third quarterback taken in this draft.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Seven years of college seven seven years.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
He's twenty six years old and he played seven years
of college college.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
I haven't seen what happened with the rest of them.
There's like one hundred and forty guys into trans reporter
with no eligibility, right, with no eligibility, waiting on the
NCAAT to rule to give him another year. I mean,
I do, You're thirty years old.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
Go home. These guys go on and on and on.
I mean, look at what Carson Beck.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
He leaves Georgia, Georgia to go to the U for
four million dollars.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Yeah, howl? Was he howl? Is he twenty eight right now?
Speaker 3 (33:20):
No?
Speaker 2 (33:20):
No, No, Beck, Beck's only he's still relatively This guy
Shucked is the way it's pronounced.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
It looks like show or something like that.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
Some reason cousin Beck was allowed.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
It just seems like he's been around for us.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
He's been around for a while. I think he's got
a wife and three kids, mortgage.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
But this guy played seven years and I'm sure his
one year at Louisville he collected a pretty good dime
to extend his college and it pays off. I mean,
the guy ends up the third quarterback taking in this draft.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
So I don't know.
Speaker 2 (33:44):
I think we're gonna see guys stay longer at the
collegiate level. As you said, in the case of Shudor Sanders,
essentially he's going to be taking a pay cut.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Yes, that's a big pay cut.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
Right, my god.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
But he had run out of LA I said it earlier.
These guys all all professionals now, so there is no
more amateur status. So collegiate no pros.
Speaker 3 (34:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
So his attitude apparently was I'm not here to impress you,
You're here to impress me.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
Yeah, and some guys do not feel well about that.
Speaker 5 (34:16):
Hey.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
By the way, you can stream this show and all

the top of your screen. All right, Coming up on
the other side, we're gonna start digging into these NBA playoffs.
Oh yes, some interesting series go on. And I'm gonna
ask this of Olden. Who goes deeper in these playoffs?
Will be the Lakers or the Clippers.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
Will break it down. This is Fox Sports Saturday.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Don't listening to Fox Sports, Steve Hartman, Olden Polines.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
Here Fox Sports Saturday.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
We're coming live from the entire rack dot com studios.
All right, we'll lay to rest for a moment, the
shed Door Sanders story, the rest of the NFL Draft,
and get our focus on these NBA playoffs. First round.
You know again, Memphis, no surprise, quick casualty. Looks like
Cleveland is going to be on their way to a
(35:26):
nice series sweep as well. So, I mean, some of
these early series are are really should not even be series,
And just you know, it's ridiculous having to drag teams
in with losing records into the postseason. However, there are
a couple series that are very interesting right now, and
I'm just I'm gonna ask you a question. Right as
I went into the break Olden, right now, you have
(35:47):
the Lakers were the three seed in the West and
the Clippers were the five seed in the West. You
spent part of your fifteen year NBA career with the Clippers.
So my question to you is this, when the playoffs
are done, which team will go deeper in this year's playoffs?
Will it be the Lakers or will it be the Clippers.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
My logical mind tells me it's going to be the Clippers,
right only because the Nuggets are all over the place,
well they were the other night, and I don't know
what they're gonna get from Michael Porter Junior. You know,
Jamal is still you know, laboring some something. But anyway,
(36:32):
I say the Clippers off the top of my head.
But we always have to say this. The NBA is
way better when the Lakers are involved in playoffs.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
Okay, can I can I slow you down for a second.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
So I I'm not a huge conspiracy guy, but this
year I'm all over the conspiracy. I mean, it started
with Memphis firing Jenkins their coach right before a showdown
matchup at home against the Lakers, which at the time
was potentially a tiebreaker time. You know, it's like, out
of the blue, after six years, they're going to fire
(37:13):
Jenkins right before this game. And of course what happened.
The Grizzlies lost that game at home to the Lakers.
Advantage Lakers, and then you're like, Okay, which team has
eliminated the Lakers in the playoffs the last two years?
Speaker 3 (37:25):
Oh, that's right, the Denver Necks.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
Let's have them fire their coach with three games left
in the regular season. And we're not even going to
get into the logistics of the tray where they stole
Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks. I mean, when you
look at a player of that caliber, he should have
netted the Mavericks seven number one picks based on what
we saw Durant and the Phoenix Sun straight on we're talking,
(37:49):
or how about when Paul George was acquired by the
Clippers from Okase what six seven and Shay Gildis Alexander.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
A young player.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
I mean, just it was an absolute giveaway and you
have a missioner basically hide from any questions about, you know,
the legitiacy of that trade or these sudden We have
never had two teams well on their way in the
playoffs in the case of Memphis endeavor fire their coach
in the last ten games of the season.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
It's never happened in this or the NBA.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
And you're looking at all these coincidences and they all
help one team, the Lakers.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Yeah, and I'm okay. You know, I grew up a
Laker fans, so I'm okay with that to a certain extent.
But I fall in line with you on the conspiracy
aspect of it, because it is weird. We've never seen that.
It's not like they were losing. That's the problem. It's
not like they were losing like with eighteen and forty
or whatever. It's we're right there in the playoffs. We're
(38:47):
in the hunt with veteran coaches, with veteran coaches, and
I'm a year removed from a championship right with Mike Malone.
That's insane to me. And so again back to your question,
I do see the Clippers advance past the Nuggets because
I don't think the Lakers can beat Minnesota. I really don't.
They just too long.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
Well, you watched yesterday and you know Lebron played out
of his mind. By the way, I have another prediction
here that this will be Lebron's last year as a Laker.
Now you watch last night's game and you're like nuts,
But I'm thinking, Okay, I'm watching Luka Danchets. I know
he wasn't feeling well yesterday, so he was out of
(39:27):
sorts and obviously.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Didn't have a look.
Speaker 4 (39:29):
Had Tommy Ako?
Speaker 3 (39:30):
Yeah apparently so.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
But he's a twenty just turned twenty six year old
superstar and you got to build around He is the
Lakers right now, it's got the number one selling jersey
in the league. You go to a Laker game, now
everyone's wearing seventy seven Lukadanchets. It's not Lebron's team anymore.
But you got to figure out how to put the
right pieces around him. They need more interior defense. They
were outscored in the paint fifty six twenty six last sight,
I mean, absolute domination by Minnesota. So they need pieces
(39:56):
and they got one movable piece and that's Lebron James. Now,
Lebron would have to agree to it. I mean, that's
a big asking, especially with Browny in the league. But
I mean his last thing he wanted to do was
to play with Bronny Done. I mean, you did it,
all right, So there you got your chance to play
with your kid. I don't know, I just I believe
that this is it for lebron James.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
I don't know. I'm gonna hold you to that. I'm
gonna remember you said this on this day, but I
don't think that's gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (40:22):
Oh by the way, on the other side, I'm gonna
ask you about one other thing that happened in that
game last night that absolutely I'll tell you what it is.
This is Fox Sports Saturday.
Speaker 5 (40:34):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
Rolling along here on a huge sports Saturday. Fox Sports
Saturday Live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. By the way,
draft coverage of Fox Sports Radio is brought to by
a ship station calmed the Chaos with the shipping software

(40:58):
Sports coming up here in about.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
Fifteen twenty minutes.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
We're going to be joined by Mark Medina, our NBA
insider will have Deald into a little bit deeper into
these NBA playoffs.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
Obviously, the big story of the day was the full fall.
Speaker 2 (41:12):
Of Shador Sanders all the way to the one hundred
and forty fourth pick in this year's NFL draft. Plenty's
going to be talked about that over the weeks. I
had more try to inside of some of the things
that are happening. By the way, the one story that
has come out is that the meeting that he had
with Brian Dable and.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
The Giants was a disaster, and that was a team
that was definitely targeting quarterback.
Speaker 2 (41:39):
At least we assumed at the time, and as it
turned out, that's exactly what they did when they traded
up into the late first round to take Jackson Dart
as their quarterback of the future. So as far as
Door Sanders concerned, Olden, you and I are in lockstep.
I mean, yeah, it's not a great situation for him
being a fifth round pick, but if he could have
picked a situation in the fifth round, he couldn't have
(42:00):
picked a better situation than the one he has in
Cleveland right now, where obviously Deshaun Watson is out, Joe
Flacco was brought in as an emergency forty year old quarterback.
You bring in Kenny Pickett has proven that he's not
a starting quarterback in the NFL, and then you have
a fellow rookie and Dylan Gabriel in the same draft.
Speaker 3 (42:19):
So he's he's got a chance.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
He I mean, he really has a chance to eventually
if he plays well, plays to the level that he
professes he's capable of playing. It's a much different game
at the NFL level. But if he can pull it off,
there is every chance for him to earn that starting
job with the Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 4 (42:36):
Oh definitely. And you know, I gotta go to this
statement right quick. Besides the Brian Daviles situation. I'm a
Giants fan and I just knew we were going to
grab Shaduah in that moment, but you know, win a
different route. But because I didn't know about the whole
meeting and the assignment he was given. So I say
(42:58):
that to say this. You know, young young people out there,
anybody listening, you're a professional. Act Accordingly, you have to
if if somebody that holds your playing future, your draft
status in their hands, there's some things you're gonna have
to like adhere to and so it's okay. But what
(43:20):
I was really laughing about earlier is the fact that
Shiloh Sanders, Dion's other son and you know, teammates with
his brother, of course, said uh yeah, I gotta get
me a new agent because dad just didn't work out well.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
But those who think about this, so Shador Sanders has
only had one coach, that's it, one.
Speaker 3 (43:42):
Coach, one dad. His dad has been this coach.
Speaker 2 (43:45):
And obviously no one cares more about Shador Sanders's future
than his father.
Speaker 3 (43:50):
There's no question about.
Speaker 4 (43:51):
That, definitely.
Speaker 2 (43:52):
But when you are suddenly put in front of somebody
that is going to be your second coach and they're
not coming off in a way that you perceive is
the right way to interact with you, and then you
voice your opinion about that, oh yeah, I mean this
is a danger sign for coaches. And again in the
(44:14):
NFL we talk about all those Hall of Fame quarterbacks
and isn't an amazing how many Hall of Fame quarterbacks
had Hall of Fame coaches the.
Speaker 3 (44:23):
Old I mean who made who?
Speaker 2 (44:25):
The whole Belichick Brady situation that we had for years
and years, Who made who? And then Brady leaves and
wins the Super Bowl in Tampa Bay. So coaches and
players have to be on the same page in the NFL,
and the quarterbacks will make or break coaches, and that's
just the way it is. And if you're not comfortable,
as Brian Dable obviously was not comfortable with Stuter Sanders,
(44:46):
and maybe the fact that hey, I'm not your father,
I'm Brian Dabele and this is the way I like
to do things, and if you're not comfortable with that,
then we can't be partners.
Speaker 3 (44:55):
Can't do it.
Speaker 4 (44:56):
Oh yeah, but I still believe this underlying things going
on too with this kid, you know, whether it's Dion
or his braggadocious attitude. But I'm like, wait a minute now,
Johnny manzaih o Cho Senko, you know so many guys,
(45:16):
Baker Mayfield, we can go. We can pick so many
players that have outward personalities. Sure, you know, so people
really started getting to the point where they were just
nitpicking on stuff. It's like, for all accounts, out sided
the fact that he's kind of flashy like his dad,
because he had a great teacher, he's a really good kid.
(45:38):
There's no there's nothing going on about him, like there's
no issues, there's no drunk driving, there's no no allegations, nothing, but.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
Older one hundred percent them in locks up with what
you're saying, which to me gets back to talent. Talent
wins out every time you will ignore. We have seen
teams over the years ignore warning signs about certain athletes
because they got talent, and so they're like, we're not
worried about all that other stuff because look at this
(46:10):
guy's talent. I mean, Major League Baseball, how many guys
were going through multiple drug suspensions and yet they were
continuously put back out on the field.
Speaker 3 (46:18):
Why because they could still pitch, they could still hit exactly.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
I mean, you remember Leonard Little, the defensive lineman for
the Rams. He killed a mother of four in a
drunk driving situation, and then he got busted again for
a dui.
Speaker 3 (46:37):
But as long as he was piling up sacks, he's
still at his job in the NFL. Yeah, so he's amazing.
Speaker 2 (46:44):
So I just get back to a lot of concerns
that people actually had in Shudor Sanders as a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (46:52):
He's not mobile, which is sort of the new wave.
Speaker 2 (46:56):
I mean again, negative one hundred and twenty seven yards
rushing in his time at Colorado. And I said it
a year ago, it's not just taking sacks. You can
talk about offensive line, but when you're taking sacks, when
you're hanging on forever, your offensive line can only hold
them off.
Speaker 3 (47:10):
And you can't be going backwards.
Speaker 2 (47:12):
You can't take fifteen yard sacks in the NFL. And
so these are quick decisions because, look, there are two
things a quarterback has to be able to do to
play at a high level in the NFL. One is
you have to be able to throw the ball accurately
under pressure.
Speaker 3 (47:28):
And secondly, you've got to make those quick decisions.
Speaker 2 (47:31):
I mean the quick decisions like the ball snap, who
do I throw two, When do I check down? When
do I throw it away? When do I take a sack?
When do I take off run? These are literally split
second decisions that the great quarterbacks know how to make.
And so if there are questions about that of a
quarterback coming into the draft, that is something that is
(47:52):
recognized across the league, which you can say, well, maybe
a few teams weren't interested. Well, the majority of the
teams in this year's draft weren't even looking for a quarterback.
That's why when a quarterback falls down to day three, Okay, now, yeah,
sure we're looking for a quarterback, maybe a backup, fourth, fifth,
sixth round pick.
Speaker 3 (48:08):
We could look for a quarterback.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
But I think there are a number of factors and
not just personality or anything like that when it comes
to why should or Sanders fell into the fifth round.
Speaker 4 (48:19):
Yeah, but we're not gonna we're not gonna look at that.
We're gonna look for all the other stuff, of course,
and that's human nature. Oh my god, it's because of Diana,
is because of this, and again you have to balance
it out. I think he was a little bit of
an experiment also to show like, hey, you know what,
to your point, we're actually looking at your skill set. Yeah, yeah,
(48:41):
what are you not aligning for the first round?
Speaker 2 (48:44):
They break it down, I mean you, I mean they
will watch constantly and they'll look and they're like, well,
he doesn't have he has an average arm. He throws
an accurate deep ball that is a plus, but his
accuracy on the short throws isn't what it should be.
And then his decision making and taking all those huge
losses and sacks and he's not a threat to take
(49:05):
off with the ball. And you know, do like Jalen Milroe?
Can do you watch Jalen Milrow and all of a
sudden you're thinking, or Jalen Hurts are obviously Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 3 (49:13):
Are quarterbacks like that?
Speaker 2 (49:14):
Bo Nix is that kind of a quarterback who can
take off and run and get you yards with his leg?
Speaker 4 (49:20):
Oh definitely. And I watched this kid. I watched every game.
He ate the ball more than anybody I've ever seen, right,
And it was I do just get rid of it.
Speaker 3 (49:30):
You can't take negative yards.
Speaker 4 (49:31):
Just get rid of the ball. Please, just get rid
of it.
Speaker 2 (49:34):
See, those are the split decisions you have to make
that you have to make. And everything is so much
faster at the NFL level.
Speaker 4 (49:41):
And the bigger and stronger and faster in the.
Speaker 2 (49:44):
NFL A hundreds, I'll agree with you on this. He's
a tough kid. I mean he took a pounding yeah,
in two years of Colorado. Then the other part of
it is this when you look at some of the
other premier quarterbacks in this draft, and again the Louisville
guys on the outside, I'm not sure, but I mean
they played where the SCC, they played in the you know,
(50:05):
and or the Big ten, and then all of a sudden,
you're like, he played in the Big twelve at least
his last year. The first year obviously in the Pack
to Pac twelve. But the Big twelve is notorious as
a conference where quarterbacks have overinflated numbers because it's just
not a conference that has a lot of great defensive teams.
And so that's the other warning sign. So again, last
(50:28):
word on shud Or Sanders. He's going to get an
opportunity with Cleveland Browns. And that's all you ever want
for every player the here's their name called in the draft.
All you want to say is give me a chance,
and he's going to get that. By the way, for

Speaker 3 (51:47):
By the way, if you're the forty nine ers, are
gonna give this guy who at fifty million a year
the unium fifty millionaire.
Speaker 4 (51:54):
Somewhere around there. But I don't think i'd give them fifty.
I might give them forty.
Speaker 3 (51:59):
It's unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (52:00):
Well, speaking of high paid athletes, that's a lot of
guys in the NBA these days. The NBA Playoffs are
off and running and joining us right now to break
down what we're seeing is our NBA insider Mark Medina. Mark,
I'm here with Olden. I want to get to the
Lakers right out of the box. So most of these
playoffs series are going to form the Lakers. However, is
(52:21):
a three seed. We were talking about this a week ago, like, yeah,
you know, you know in Minnesota, could give them a
little bit of a tussle. Didn't seem to lee a
lot of concern. There's a lot of concern right now.
Let's go worst case scenario. Let's say the Lakers lose
this series in the first round to the Timberwolves. What
(52:42):
would be the fallout, if any, for the Lakers moving forward.
Speaker 8 (52:46):
You know, it's interesting, I think regardless of what happens
with the Lakers playoffs, it's still going to be the same.
How can they get some rim protection and some other
defenders around Lebron James and Luka Dacic, because when you
look at their weaknesses so far against Minnesota, yeah, it
didn't help that, you know, we just deal with some
food bugs and not feeling one hundred percent. But they
(53:10):
haven't defended well at the perimeter. They haven't defended well.
Speaker 1 (53:13):
At the rim.
Speaker 8 (53:14):
Anthony Edwards has you know, been able to produce a
high level partly because he's you know, scoring on a
layup lie And so I think that's the emphasis number one.
But whether it's first round, sweep, second round, or you know,
if they go on a prolonged playoff run, I think
that moving forward, it's about having those kind of that
(53:35):
kind of rim protection and perimeter defensive presence so that
things are easier next season.
Speaker 4 (53:41):
Hey, Mark Olden here, I wanted, let's stay with the
Lakers for a bit, and I kept saying this. You know,
we saw, like you mentioned Anthony Edwards, but Jason, I
mean Jade McDaniels, it was insane how many layups he had,
three point plays and everything else. So and I kept
asking the question, I want your thoughts on this. Luca
(54:04):
and Lebron always revert back to their natural instincts of
trying to take over. I mean, do you believe that's
a recipe for disaster.
Speaker 1 (54:16):
It can be.
Speaker 8 (54:16):
It really depends them. Taking over a game can produce
a lot of greatness as long as they're playing both
ends of the floor and there's enough reinforcement. But it
can be a recipe for disaster, as you outlined, if
it's just one on one ball and they're trying to
have highlight reels and produce too much. I think it's
very telling hole that, you know, Lucat Doctors played at
(54:39):
such a high level in Game one, but it didn't
matter because the offense, which is not moving around, there
was very little ball movement and there wasn't enough defensive engagement.
And so I don't have a problem necessarily if one
or two of those star players are taking over a game,
but everything else has to come along with it. It
(55:00):
has to be a balanced offense, it has to be
a lot of bald movement, and they have to care
about defense. I was very surprised that the Lakers were
respectable on defense after the Anthony Davis trade, but we're
really What it came down to is you had guys
actually trying, whether Jackson Hayes at the center spot, a
(55:20):
lot of small players, you know, making stops on the perimeter,
and that's gotten away from them. I think in this
playoff series, again, Minnesota is a really good team. It's
not like they're playing against scrub players. But I think
it's inexcusable for them to leave you know, guys like
Nas Reed or Jane McDaniels wide open from three. I
(55:42):
understand you're playing the percentages, but you also have to
respect your opponents. So I think if they just care,
it'll make a world lead difference in Game four.
Speaker 2 (55:51):
Speaking in respect, the Clippers deserve a lot of respect
if they can keep Kawhi.
Speaker 3 (55:57):
Leonard on the floor.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
I mean, we're reminded his remarkable Game two performance that
when he is healthy and on his game, he's a
top five player in the NBA.
Speaker 3 (56:06):
I don't think there's any question about that.
Speaker 2 (56:08):
The only question is can he do it for the
duration of the entire playoffs like he did in winning
the NBA Finals MVP Awards with both San Antonio and Toronto.
But let's go best case scenario for the Clippers, and
let's say their big four continues to play at a
high level and stay on the court. Is it conceivable
(56:28):
that the Clippers could run the table and win a
championship with this team.
Speaker 8 (56:33):
I guess there is a chance, because one healthy Kawhi
Leonard is an elite player. James Harden is still playing
elite level. Tylo is a masterful coach that gets the
most out of the stars and rotation players and makes
good adjustments. Aaviza Zubos has become a really dominant big
ban on both ends of the four. But I think
even at their best, they're still going to run into
a buzzsaw that is the Oklahoma City Thunder. But I
(56:56):
think to the larger point that you're alluding to with
Kawhi Leonard, look like no one can ever guarantee anything,
And there's a lot of good reasons to feel skeptical
about Kawhi staying healthy, just simply because of his injury history,
But there have been encouraging signs that this could be
in our repeat could be different because of the fact
(57:17):
that when he was out the season, it was at
the beginning of the season when he was rehabbing from
that right knee information that limited him during the playoffs
last year kept him out for the entire Paris Olympics,
and in past season he was either all load management
throughout the season or entering the playoffs not fully one
hundred percent. This time around, the last two months, he
(57:39):
hasn't had a minute restriction, he hasn't really missed back
to back. He's playing at a high level, and so
while you never rule anything out because of Kawhi's injury history,
there have been different developments this season that leave you,
I guess, relatively more optimistic he can be healthier than
his entire career the last few seasons with the Clippers.
Speaker 4 (58:00):
Hey, Mark, I want to I want you to take
on this right quick. I've watched every game and I'm
sure you have as well. The physicality of the playoffs
is reminiscent of the nineties. Yeah, well, was there a
memo that was sent out that we met.
Speaker 8 (58:22):
You know a lot of these some of these memos
are secret as you know, some of them get out.
But oh, I would also keep in mind this dates
back a little bit to the second half of last season.
There was a memo emphasis about calling fewer fouls because
the NBA felt like, you know, it just really disrupts
the flow of the game. It was making games really long,
(58:43):
it was making you know, people tune out. And I
think that that's carried over into the season. I think
there's also you know, some unique makeups of the playoffs
here where you have the Houston Rockets. They're a young
team that's really successful, and they've always view the Warriors
as a team with the stain because even though it's
a completely different roster, they have that playoff history. When
(59:06):
you're looking at the Eastern Conference, the Detroit Pistons is
the New York Knicks. I mean, historically those are teams
that have always been physical, and so I think it's
a combination of the teams themselves. But also, as you
alluded to a secret memo or not, there has been
an emphasis even in this day and age, of high
score and offenses at least called few or foul. So
(59:28):
it's not a three hour viewing experience of guys just
trading free throws back and forth.
Speaker 2 (59:34):
Okay, the Cleveland Cavaliers just put a beat down on
the Heat today, up three to zero in that.
Speaker 3 (59:40):
Series, and no Darius Garland. Yeah, by the way, Charles
Barkley called him out almost like he's faking.
Speaker 2 (59:48):
That toe injury apparently. I mean it was like, are
you kidding me? You're out of a playoff game with
a what a toe issue, which.
Speaker 3 (59:56):
By the way, Garland apparently has had.
Speaker 2 (59:57):
But you know, I keep looking at this Cavs team
and everyone seemingly just conceding the east of the Celtics,
and I'm not saying the champs shouldn't be favored. But
when you look at this Cavaliers team and when you
guys got you know, when you got Hunter and Jerome
coming off the bench.
Speaker 3 (01:00:12):
I mean they have two of the best guys off
the bench in the NBA. One of the.
Speaker 2 (01:00:15):
Best back courts in the NBA. Mobile was Defensive Player
of the Year. Why are we so quick to dismiss
the Cavaliers as a serious challenge for the Celtics to
get to the NBA Finals out of the East.
Speaker 8 (01:00:28):
Yeah, we shouldn't be dismissing the Cavaliers because they've gotten
the number one seed for a reason. They've been very dominant.
I think that instinctually some there's been, you know, a
reflex where we've seen some regular seasons teams dominate really
well and then flame out in the playoffs. And I
think there's wonder minute as this team going to be it,
But I don't think so, because you've seen Kenny Atkinson
(01:00:51):
make an instant impact with them being just a lot
more efficient on offense. When you're looking at their star
players with Don Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mogley, Jared Allen,
they all compliment each other. Well, there's no egos. I
think before the playoffs started, I did give an edge
to the Boston Celtics because they're the defending champs. They
(01:01:12):
also have shown that they could absorb an off night
from one of their stars, whether it's Jason Tatum or
Jalen Brown or chrisos Erzingis being hurt a lot better
than what we saw with Cleveland during the regular season.
There's a four game stretch in March when Donovan Mitchell
wasn't shooting the ball well, and that coincided with the
Cavs losses. But I think what we've seen this playoffs,
(01:01:34):
even though it's the first round, the Miami Heat is
out of those and this game in particular, he didn't
have Garland, he didn't have Mitchell shooting the ball well either.
Yet they were so dominant because the chemistry of them,
of Mobile and Jared Allen are great. They've expanded their
offensive games. You mentioned the DeAndre Hunter acquisition that they
(01:01:55):
got post trade deadline. He's a very key factor because
he provides a lot of pre defense. And so who
do I edge an Eastern Conference assuming this is going
to happen in the finals? Whip a coin, but assuming
no major injuries from either side. I think what we're
gonna see is seven games, every game going down to
(01:02:16):
the wire in regulation or overtime, and it's going to
come down to a handful of possessions here or there,
and which team makes the most winning plays will wind
up on top of it. It's going to make for
very compelling playoff basketball.
Speaker 4 (01:02:30):
Hey, Matt, do you have a vote from MVP?
Speaker 8 (01:02:35):
I have stopped voting because of all the politics with it.
Speaker 4 (01:02:40):
In my question, Okay, so I'll just let you go on.
Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
You use that magic word, you ask the MVP award
should go to Well, I was gonna ask, Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:02:52):
I think if Shae gojes Ouxander Nikole Jokic win, they
deserve it. But if I had to go and Hi
to choose, it would be because he's taking his game
to another level. You know, you want to reward players
that are on, you know, the best teams. But it's
not so much of the fact that, oh, he's on
a winning team and probably a better roster. He has
(01:03:13):
really made that engine go. It's not just the fact
that he's led the league in scoring. He's elevated his
teammates around him, whether it's Shalen Williams becoming an All Star,
being a better scorer, the pick and roll game with
him and chet Holm grin, same thing with Isaiah Hartenstein.
I think it's telling that even though this is a
very small sample size and I don't think it will
reflect the actual voter turnout when the bullet when the
(01:03:36):
ballots are public. But I talked to I think five
four assistant coaches last week anonymously from you know, different
teams not named the thunder Nuggets, and all of them
picked Shake, Gilgess Alexander for the reason I outlined. But
that being said, they also are saying, you know what,
Yoka is playing an unbelievable level. It's a triple double.
(01:03:58):
And so when they're giving some of these reasons why
they picked Shay, it was almost like, you know what,
it's so close, I have to split hairs. But the
bottom line is they just felt like Shay has taken
to his game to another level and they really want
to avoid reward the fact that he's played the most
significant reason why the thunder have been the top team
in the Western Conference.
Speaker 3 (01:04:19):
Yeah, I don't have a problem with him winning. But again,
when we look at Nikola.
Speaker 2 (01:04:23):
Jokic, thirty four triple doubles to zero for Shay Gildess
Alexander the Yeah, fifty nine double doubles to Shay Gildes's six.
Speaker 4 (01:04:36):
I mean so they can't win. Yeah, so Nuggets can't
win without Jokic.
Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
No, well, I mean again, I just he to me
is just in his own zip code these days.
Speaker 3 (01:04:47):
The way I look at it.
Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
Hey, Mark, great stuff is always We'll see what happens
in another very busy week on the playoffs seamless.
Speaker 3 (01:04:54):
We'll find out the Lakers survive. That is going to
be the big story coming out of this week, that's
for sure. Mark. We always appreciate at the time. Thanks
so much. We'll talk to you next week.
Speaker 8 (01:05:02):
Mark, I appreciate you guys are the best.
Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
Thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (01:05:05):
Aria.
Speaker 2 (01:05:05):
It is a great Mark. But din r NBA insider. Now,
let's find out what is trending. Speaking of insiders, Martin
is it's in the house right now.
Speaker 3 (01:05:15):
I mean, Martin, have I gotten your opinion on my
prediction that this is Lebron's last year as a Laker?
You have, yes, I have.
Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:05:25):
I think it's absurd. I thought that was like bullet
proof glass, that you're behind until I saw you launch
at me, and I was a little shaken up by
that because you rattled that room.
Speaker 7 (01:05:37):
See, you're a man who's been doing this for years.
Your opinion and voice carries a certain level of gravitas
and importance in sports talk radio, and it upsets me
when you.
Speaker 3 (01:05:51):
Use that power for evil. You understand that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
I am one that has said time and time again
for about a decade now that Lebron.
Speaker 3 (01:06:03):
Is the goat. That's all go He is the goat.
Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
I no one has his resume period exclamation point. That
being said, it's Luka Dodge's team, and they're gonna do
what's best for Luca and not what's best for Lebron.
Speaker 3 (01:06:18):
See, all of these things makes sense.
Speaker 7 (01:06:20):
It's like you said, the moon when it's darkout, it
comes up, it lights up the sky. You know, it's
easier to see, and then it's made of cheese.
Speaker 3 (01:06:28):
No, you were right until the last one, Steve, that's
the problem. That's the problem.
Speaker 7 (01:06:34):
Speaking of the last one, last pick of the NFL Draft,
mister irrelevant Kobe Minor, cornerback from Memphis is the newest
New England Patriot. Speaking of new team members, the Cleveland
Browns traded up with the Seattle Seahawks to select Shador
Sanders with the one hundred and forty fourth overall pick
in the fifth round on Saturday. They also selected quarterback
(01:06:55):
Dylan Gabriel in the third round, so Shador was not
the second quarterback draft. He's actually the second quarterback drafted
by his own team. The Seahawks traded quarterback Sam Howell
to the Vikings after they traded him with a fifth
round pick in exchange for a fifth round pick and
the quarterback they drafted Alabama Jalen Miilroe in the third round,
So Sam Howell was a little redundant there. Pittsburgh Steelers
(01:07:17):
did draft the quarterback after passing on Trudur Sanders at
twenty one and every other pick until the fifth round.
They drafted Will Howard out of Ohio State in the
sixth round. In the NBA, A little brew haha going
into halftime between the Clippers and the Nuggets loop pushing
and shoving. There it is now halftime, the Nuggets with
a two point lead, fifty to forty eight. Jokis with
(01:07:40):
a fifteen point eight rebound. I'll put thus far. James
Harden six point seven assists, earlier today B two A
the Cleveland Cavaliers over the Heat one twenty four to
eighty seven and the Thunder and the Grizzly season one
seventeen to one fifteen.
Speaker 3 (01:07:56):
The Grizzlies getting.
Speaker 7 (01:07:57):
Swept there Tampa Bay and then get back into the
series with the Panthers five to one win. Florida leads
two to one, Golden Knights winning overtime. Florida three series tied.
They're two to two and Toronto has a three nothing
lead in the series, but Senators with a one nothing
lead right now with just under nine minutes left in
the first period. Steve, remember, with great power comes great responsibility.
Speaker 2 (01:08:23):
Thank you very much, Martin. I am reminded that on
a men and by minute basis. Over here, Olden, I
had a question for you.
Speaker 4 (01:08:30):
Talk to me back in the days. Yes, people were
naming their kids Jordan because of Mju and the young man,
you know, even though it's a different spelling, Kobe minor. Yes.
And then there was another young man. His name is
Kobe Bryant, but it's co O B B b E.
Speaker 3 (01:08:49):
I saw that O B E E Yes.
Speaker 4 (01:08:53):
Where the lebron's m.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
Well again, uh, maybe it's something about his personality and
let me let me take I'm glad you mentioned Lebron
because I wanted to mention this at the top of
the last hour.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
So I'm watching the Laker game last night. I'm sure
you were as well. And it was late in the game.
Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
The Lakers did not make a shot in the last
four and a half minutes of the game as Minnesota
pulled away, so there was a dispute about a call,
an officials ruling on a call.
Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
So there was a time out on.
Speaker 2 (01:09:22):
The court, and there was Lebron James not just conversing
with Anthony Edwards and another member of the Timberwolves team.
He was yucking it up with them, and I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:09:38):
Like, what is going on here? He's laughing.
Speaker 2 (01:09:43):
You're in a must win game, because I said before
Game three, this will determine whether the Lakers win the series.
Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
You win this game, you'll win the series.
Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
You lose this game, you lose this Seriously, you know
where I stand on the series now.
Speaker 3 (01:09:56):
And there is Lebron.
Speaker 2 (01:09:59):
Yucking at up, laughing, laughing, talking to members of the
Timberwolves team during an official time out laid the game
when the Lakers are unraveling and that to me is
one hundred percent unacceptable. When I talk about goat purely
on the numbers, there is no For years, I used
(01:10:20):
to say, Where's Kareem? Why is Kareem not in this list?
Who has a better resume than Kareem Abdul Jabbar? Nobody, nobody,
not even close number one. But when you look at
Lebron's resume now and all the records that he holds,
and the records he's extended, and the level of play
that we have seen from him in this his fortieth
year on this planet, there is no one that compares.
(01:10:44):
So you could talk about peak value versus total value
of an NBA career. In my world, it's about a
total NBA career. Will I say that at his peak
Michael Jordan was better than Lebron.
Speaker 3 (01:10:59):
At his peak?
Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
Yes, I will say that, But in terms of who's
had the best career in NBA history, the answer is
Lebron James.
Speaker 4 (01:11:07):
In my opinion, I agree. I mean, Jesus, what twenty
second year got to give it to him? I mean,
the numbers speak for themselves, but that's not what we
go by.
Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:11:18):
That's why I never discussed the goat argument, because that's
what it is, an argument. Just say who do I like?
Who do you like? That's it?
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
Well, how do you compare eras you played against Michael Jordan?
So you obviously saw this up both. Yeah, I mean
you you right, but you saw the prime Jordan. Yeah,
from the you know, your careers coincided, and you you
saw what he did, especially during the day of the nineties,
by the way, and it was such a different I
love how you harken back because you know, I mentioned,
(01:11:48):
like you know, Lebron laughing it up with the te Wolves.
I love to see a little skirmish going on between
the Nuggets and the Clips. That's as a fan. It's
an outsider looking in all my life when it comes
to sports and general, especially the NBA, because I always
had a passion for the Lakers going up. I mean,
I mean I started following the Lakers the day they
acquired Wilt Chamberlain from the Philadelphia seventy six ers.
Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
So I was in fifth grade, so.
Speaker 2 (01:12:12):
You know, the idea that they weren't going to lose
a game that year because Algie was still playing at
a high level yet Jerry West, who was my greatest hero,
and he had Wilt. It was like the idea was
they're going to go eighty two and zero, and they didn't.
Bill Russell beat him one last time in that final year.
But I mean, when you played in the NBA, Olden
you you literally played in the most physical era in
the history of this league. And you know, you talk
(01:12:34):
about the early nineties, how do you how did you survive?
Because it was a war. And as a fan, that's
what I want to see. I want to see players
have the same intense feelings negatively about their opponents that
I as a fan have, and we saw it back
in those days.
Speaker 4 (01:12:52):
Oh definitely. And people always like want to criticize, Oh, well,
these guys are more athletic, they're more talented. Now, you
know what, I'll give you all of that if you want,
I will, you know, just to not have an argument.
But nobody worked harder than us. We were out there
every night giving it all. You know, it was a battle.
(01:13:16):
Because do you have any load management?
Speaker 3 (01:13:19):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:13:19):
P load? Okay to that point. And I tell people
this the reason why no one took a day off
when you were hurt, because you were gonna lose your
job the minute the next guy comes in. Can you
imagine Vinnie Johnson getting extra minutes. You're not getting your
job back.
Speaker 3 (01:13:37):
Right. Here's what I would like to remind everyone.
Speaker 2 (01:13:39):
In his last year with the Wizards, Michael Jordan forty
years old, eighty two games, played them all, yeah, every game,
every game, every single game.
Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
That's why I'm impressed with Chris Paul right now. He
played all A two at the same level.
Speaker 3 (01:13:55):
Love guys.
Speaker 2 (01:13:56):
You know one of our buddies, Cap Mobley Katino, He's
gut logged a lot minutes.
Speaker 3 (01:14:00):
How about Alan Iverson who.
Speaker 2 (01:14:02):
Averaged forty one minutes for every game he played in
his entire NBA career?
Speaker 3 (01:14:06):
What is he six feet, one hundred and sixty five pounds.
Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
He wishes exactly one hundred and fifty pounds, and he
would average for his entire career.
Speaker 3 (01:14:18):
Forty one minutes a night. Crazy.
Speaker 2 (01:14:19):

(01:14:41):
playoff predictions from this man, Olden Polonies. This is Fox
Sports Saturday, Steve Harbin, Olden Polonies. Here, Fox Sports Saturday.
We're coming to live from the Fox Sports Radio studio.
I want to thank our crew today, Martin doing the
job on the updates.
Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
Now he get ready for his own show coming up here.
Short Mary Mac.
Speaker 2 (01:15:02):
They'll got Mary Mack back there. You know how old
she is. She just turned if I'm right, twenty two,
the big two two unbelievable. And then there's our grizzled
veteran ian doing a great job as always. Guys, all right,
as long as I got old in here, I got
(01:15:23):
to get your thoughts on the remainder of these playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:15:27):
So while the Celtics stumbled.
Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
On the road against the Magic, we saw what the
Cavs did today to the Heat. That was just a blowout.
When you look at the East right now, Nick's got
a huge win on the road to take back home
court advantage against the Pistons. Let me start with that.
Serious Pistons have any shot here or the Knick's going
to close this thing out.
Speaker 4 (01:15:48):
The Knicks are going to close it out, only because
the Pistons are still in shock and awe that they're
in the playoffs, you know, and that first game they
should have won, Oh my god, but you let them
go on a twenty one oh run. That's unacceptable. And
then they bounced back and got to win in New York.
But then they turned around and give it right back
(01:16:08):
to the Knicks. So I just think the Knicks are
a lot tougher than them, and they're gonna prevail.
Speaker 2 (01:16:14):
Well, a lot of people were surprised how easily the
Pacers took care of the Bucks first two games in Indiana.
Then the Bucks came back with a big win on
their home court. Is this one of those series that
goes seven just based on home court?
Speaker 4 (01:16:26):
It feels that way it'll go seven, you know. And
we still know where Lillard is and all this even
if he does play or when he plays, or how's
he gonna play, and so everything's gonna run through Giannis.
And I don't think it's enough. And I said this
the other day also, I don't trust Doc Rivers.
Speaker 3 (01:16:47):
Why should you do? You realize that Doc Rivers?
Speaker 2 (01:16:50):
You know how rare it is for teams to blow a
three to one series lead in the playoffs, hasn't happened
that many times?
Speaker 3 (01:16:55):
He's done it three times?
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
Yeah, Gray, you know Doc is he's so good.
Speaker 3 (01:17:02):
With the media. You know when the Clippers, when he's
Clippers guy, was around them a lot. I get it.
Speaker 2 (01:17:07):
But his resume to me is Okay, Rockets, Warriors, all right,
So series one one now heading to uh Golden State.
We got the game tonight, Warriors, Uh, you know, even
it up against the Rockets getting that first win on
the road in game one.
Speaker 3 (01:17:25):
How do you see this series going?
Speaker 4 (01:17:26):
I see the Warriors winning this series. I do, even
though because they're not a typical seventh seed, you know,
I mean everybody was separated by one game.
Speaker 3 (01:17:36):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
Jimmy Butler though we still don't know his status for
Game three as.
Speaker 4 (01:17:40):
Going to play. Okay, God, it's like you fell on
your get up. It's like everything hurts.
Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
These guys, well, you know, they're always looking for excuses.
So you Warriors there, Uh, Clippers, Nuggets.
Speaker 4 (01:17:54):
That's the one as hard. That one's definitely, in my
opinion's going to go seven.
Speaker 2 (01:17:59):
Well, that game seven then would be in Denver, but
we saw them Game seven and Denver against Minnesota last
year and te Wolves took care of business.
Speaker 4 (01:18:07):
Oh yeah, And I think it might end up being
the same thing, you know, because the Clippers, to me,
on paper, are the better team, I mean, outside of Jokic,
but Zubat's done a hell of a job keeping him
at bay, you know, because he has to guard him,
and that's wearing on Jokis a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:18:26):
Lakers Timberwolves.
Speaker 4 (01:18:30):
I hate making this statement, but I have to go
to Timberwolves.
Speaker 8 (01:18:33):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:18:34):
Do you think they were gonna win Game four tomorrow
and go up three to one in the series.
Speaker 4 (01:18:38):
Yes, all depressions on the Lakers. The Lakers have to
win the game. Well, yeah, they have to win the
three to one. I mean it's not impossible.
Speaker 2 (01:18:48):
Obviously, we've seen teams come back for three to one,
especially if you're going against a Doc Rivers team.
Speaker 3 (01:18:52):
But if they're not this.
Speaker 4 (01:18:53):
Time, but you have no other choice but to win
the game.
Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
So they have to do that, all right. So let's
let's look into your crystal ball. When it's all said
and done, which two teams do you think matchup in
this year's NBA Finals?
Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
I want you.
Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
I'm on the record about Lebron James, he said, you're
gonna bank that one that he's playing his last season
as a Laker.
Speaker 4 (01:19:18):
Yeah, I am banking that one because I don't know.
I doubt they're gonna get to the final, because, like
I said, they're gonna lose the Timberwolves. Now I want
to go I think I want to backtrack. I'm doing
a Rob Parker right now.
Speaker 3 (01:19:31):
Don't do that. No, please, don't. All right, I'm gonna
go out on.
Speaker 4 (01:19:36):
I'm gonna go out on legend.
Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
All right.
Speaker 4 (01:19:37):
Here we go Cleveland Cavaliers right out the East, yes,
and Oklahoma seed thunder all right, So you understand that
they should be the favorites.
Speaker 3 (01:19:48):
They're the number one seeds.
Speaker 2 (01:19:50):
Right, and it is so obvious that the NBA doesn't
want that. What do you think they rather have Lakers,
Celtics or okay, see Cleveland?
Speaker 4 (01:20:00):
Oh man. Nobody wants to go Globe and c That's why.
So that's my picks. But I think it's gonna be Boston.
Speaker 2 (01:20:07):
I mean, people forget that first game between the Tea
Wolves and the Lakers over there at Crypto dot Com Arena.
In that game, the Timberwolves were called for twenty one fouls.
Speaker 3 (01:20:19):
The Lakers are called for ten. You know, it's like
eight on five.
Speaker 4 (01:20:25):
Eight on five Celtics would be great.
Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
Well, anything would be great. It's always great to be
with you, old and we appreciate the time.
Speaker 3 (01:20:32):
Man. Thanks for stopping by every once in a while
we hook up, which is always great.
Speaker 4 (01:20:36):
Thank you, very good seeing you man.
Speaker 2 (01:20:38):
All right, much more coming up, folks. We got lots
to talk about. And yes, Shador Sanders has a home.
This is Fox Sports Saturday,
