Speaker 1 (00:00):
Please, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio, living the
dream once again here on a fully loaded Sports Sunday.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
This is Fox Sports Sunday and we are here in
the Fox Sports Radio studios. Now I say fully loaded.
There are a lot of things going on right now.
The one thing that's not going on is the NBA
until Thursday, Thursday.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
Is when the NBA Finals will get underway.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Oka see taking on Indiana and by the way, Thursday
in OKC, Friday off, Saturday off game two.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
So yeah, I mean come on.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
I mean, okay, you know we're gonna be talking plenty
about what is transpired already to get us to these
NBA Finals.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Ye uh.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
And then we're gonna get obviously a preview what's what
to expect coming up.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Here, but just just the scheduling here VJA.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
The idea of you know, out of sight, out of mind,
you know, because I'm listening this morning, right so we
got countdown right bet MGM, yep, you know what they're
talking about, wnba WNBA non stop like all their best
wnba wnba WNBA. I mean, this would never have happened
in the past, but because of the whole Caitlin Clark
(01:21):
situation Angel Reese. All of a sudden, it's like, oh, yeah, NBA. Yeah,
Oklahoma City, Indiana. Hey, let's talk some WNBA because they
got hot stories right now. They've got a lot of
girls in the news. And I'm listening all morning long,
non stop.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
W NBA. What is the NBA doing?
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Why do you have to wait till Thursday to start
the NBA Finals. Let's get it going. Let's see if
Indiana can pull the upset. Let's get terrible scheduling by
the NBA.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
I'm not mad at it. I'm not man. First of all,
good morning, buy How you doing, man, I'm doing great.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yesterday it was my son's birthday and my younger son
also birthday, Buddy Heavy birthday to Dave Roberts yesterday. Also
Joe Willie Namath the eighty two yesterday, mister guarantee, Man,
how about this Clinn EASHO ninety five yesterday? Start Still
working working, Still working working. Harrison Ford.
Speaker 4 (02:12):
I just watched that new Captain America movie on Disney
Plus last night.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
Harrison Ford well into his eighties.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
Oh my god. Like, that's Indiana Jones to me. It
will always be Indiana Jones to me. Man, but you know, great, great,
great NBA Playoffs. You and I both agree. I've loved
the way this thing is played out. I love the
action they've allowed it. There hasn't been many storylines of
finicky calls, like the referees kind of stayed out of
the way for the most part, which I appreciate. I
(02:37):
don't mind the scheduling because they've already set when the
Finals starts. That to me, that's an issue. They already
have a pre date when the final. We all knew
the Finals were starting Thursday at the beginning of the year.
So I think the reason why you do skip Friday
and Saturday because you don't want a finals game on
a Saturday. In June. Graduations up, the ain't prom I
(03:01):
I just sent my son in law off to prom
last night. You know, you show up and you help them,
you know, put a suit on and get the lint
off and fix his pocket square. And it's tied to that.
For my god so last night, who just got into
Jackson State to play football, by the way, shout out
to my man Jeric. But you know it's I'm okay
with it because then Sunday comes, right, and that's the
relaxing day, Like I'm upset there's no NBA game on tonight.
(03:21):
There's really nothing on tonight and Sundays the family relaxing day.
So at about four or five o'clock in my house,
everything goes on what I call relax dad mode. Get
tablets into the kids' hands, get a little little drinking
drink for dad going, and I'm on the sofa because
Monday's coming in. Kids gotta go back to school and
you gotta go back to work. So I'm upset there's
(03:41):
not a game tonight. So next Sunday, though, we'll be
sitting in this same spot, we'll be reviewing Game two.
We won't have to watch it here at the studio.
We'll be home. We'll be relaxed watching, So I'm not
mad at I think the mistake is pre determining the
day that the final starts, because you know you're not
gonna run Game two back to back on a third Friday,
(04:02):
and no one's gonna watch the Raiders will be in
on a Saturday night in the first week of June.
There's just too much going on, just social wise and
family wise, for any dad or big a time NBA
fan to sit down on a Saturday night and watch
the finals game.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
All Right, before we get into the NBA Finals, let's
talk about the teams that have been eliminated in the
conference finals. And I want to start with the Timberwolves,
who again for the second consecutive year, lost and outside
of that forty two blowout win, they were annihilated by
OKC OKC margin of victory, who is the greatest I
believe in conference finals history, even with that forty two
(04:41):
point loss. But I want to talk about ant because
a year ago at this time, there was serious conversation
that the next Michael Jordan had finally arrived, Like Anthony
Edwards is that guy? He is going to be Michael Jordan.
And I'm biggest names in our industry. We're talking about
(05:02):
this like a Steven A. Will bought. All these people
were talking about when you look at Anthony Edwards and.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
We would all agree.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
I think that the closest thing we've ever saw to
Jordan was Kobe. You know, there's you know, but I mean,
you know, Kobe was you know, he pattered himself consciously
after what Michael Jordan did. But a lot of people
are starting to put Anthony Edwards in that conversation that
this could be that guy. And if you look at
(05:30):
his regular season, you know his numbers are going up
every year.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
He's scoring average one up again this year.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
But I'm watching him in these playoffs and what he
lacks is that consistency. And so I asked this question yesterday.
I'm going to ask you right now. And again there's
an age difference of about three years. But if you
were to start a franchise two day and you had
(05:59):
to pick between one of these two players as your centerpiece,
would you take Anthony Edwards or would you take shay Gilgess, Alexander.
Speaker 4 (06:09):
M I'll throw a third name in there in a second,
I'll answer your question. I got you. Yeah, I'll answer
your questions first. I see you're asking on the day
where shay Is won MVP and they won sixty seven
sixty eight games this year something like that, almost close
to the you know, to seventy games.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Boy, you also saw them head to head in this exactly,
so them had to head.
Speaker 4 (06:30):
But the Oklahoma City is a much better team. They were.
They were number one in the top eight of eight
of the top ten defensive like main categories. Oklahoma City
thunder went number one.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Okay, but again I'm looking for a centerpiece. Very simple question.
You're you got to start a franchise right now. I'm
giving you two choices as your centerpiece, thea versus Ann
and your taking.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
The easy answer for me is sga. Okay, but I God,
I don't want to do that. I told you something,
but it's just it's just facts. Sometime you just got
to talk fact on the sports talk radio. I sat
here last year and even in the year before that,
where the number one thing about Ant that I didn't
like was I thought he was unorganic. I thought he
was trying to create this image and this superstar and
this character and this person like you. You like personality.
(07:14):
You want a guy that Duncan's boring, Tatum's boyd. I
get the narrative. I love that about it, by the way,
but exactly a lot of people do. And I think
that's what started to talk. But I was one guy
that said, look, I see all the ability, but the
one thing I cannot do is I just can't disrespect
what's come before this time. I just won't be that guy.
You and I think Wilts the most dominated ever. Right, Yes,
how many guys under forty are gonna say that, Well,
(07:37):
they don't know exactly. They don't know, so they're not
giving that.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Luck numbers And you're like, these aren't real.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
No, yeah, you have fifty fifty nineteen sixty two. That's real.
Fifty points twenty five boards a game. Guys, I don't
care who you're playing against. Okay, there's high schoolers that
can't do that playing against lower competition. But I always
had this one question, and I proposed it to you
last week. I made it like an opinion. I thought,
Ann Edwards can either be a Dwayne Waye type guy
(08:03):
or Brandon Roy. He's gonna be like one of those
two types of players were Brandon Roy had all the ability.
Brandon Roy had an outside shot, penetration.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
Injuries killed Dunkle.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
Injuries killed him. But even when he was healthy, he
was a math time player. He was a big time player.
He could never really take his team. He wasn't.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Okay, well that's that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
In other words, really where this is going with aunt
Fair again, once you put that name into the conversation,
which is ridiculous. The only person that was like Jordan
was Jordan there's only one Michael Jordan exactly, so, but
have we raised the.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Bar too high?
Speaker 2 (08:36):
Is he a franchise guy that can literally carry a
team to an NBA shot.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
Jerry last year and towards the end of the year
before last was no. I an emphatic no, and of
course people went crazy, VJ. You're hating it. No, I've
just I've seen Aunt Edwards before, meaning I've seen this
type of ability before. It's like John Moran. I like
Jea Moran, but you know what, I've seen explosive, high
scoring point guards. His name was Derek Rose, his name
(09:03):
was Penning Hardaway, his name was Russell Westbrook, Like I've
seen Jah before, Like, you can't tell me this is
something we've never seen.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
Who was more explosive than Tracy mcgreen, right.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
Like I've seen guards that can are you kidding me?
And he can't and Jah can't get his team to
the young at all. Yeah, exactly, Like, so I try
to judge when I'm talking about players like that. And
then also to another thing that I always spoke on
was when they traded Cat, I thought it was premature
to hand the franchise to Anthony Edwards without adding another
(09:37):
like veteran, and you added go Bear and traded all
those picks for Gobert. But Go Bear is not a
guy you're gonna you're gonna follow. He's not a leader.
He's not a guy you're gonna follow. Then he got
Julius Random. But Julius Round is not a VET. That's
not a VT. I'm talking they needed an a VET.
Like I tell you this event.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Now he's almost what eight years on leak.
Speaker 4 (09:55):
I need nine to ten for you to be a
legitimate and Julius is just starting to turn out. He's
had a lot of injury issues. The Lakers traded him
and the Knicks traded him. Right, So if you were
that guy, you have two teams already trading your first
eight years in the league. Two teams have already said
thanks but no thanks. That that's to me that has
to go into the discussion. But I also see here's them.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
When we talk about leader, by definition, a leader is
someone that inspires others to follow, right, that is what
a leader is.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
You are someone that inspires exactly.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
You know, I remember sitting face to face of Ray
Lewis and I'm like sitting there with this guy and
just in a conversation. I'm like, I get it, this
is a leader. I mean, yeah, he's a great player,
but that forget all that he is a leader. Kobe
was a great player, he wasn't necessary a leader. That
wasn't in his fire. He wasn't that you have to
(10:46):
inspire others to follow. We saw one. But when people
make the argument, well, you know, Aunt's still young, and
I'm like, no, no, no. Magic Johnson was the leader of
the Lakers the day he arrived with Kareem on the team.
Larry Bird was the leader of the Celtics the day
he arrived. They had veterans all over the place. So
either you have that or you don't have that. And
so I'm with you. I'm they decided they were going
(11:09):
to turn the page and Cather, We're going to hand
this team to Anthony Edwards. And again, his numbers are increasing,
he's trending statistically in the right direction.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
But he's not that leader. He's just not that leader.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
Keep throwing these numbers out. I don't care about your numbers.
It's like the discussion you and I had about Scheffler
and how many weeks he's been number one, second to
Tiger Woods. Constantly consistently. Okay, that's fine, But if it's
not leading to the majors, if it's not leading to
the total wins, it's just like in basketball or in
college football, you could be number one and number two.
(11:44):
Ax Tennessee. Tennessee was ranked number one most of the
college basketball season. How far did they go in the
NCAA tournament. That's the way I'm going to always look
at it. So you can put these numbers together in there, impressive,
And I'll propose, and I'll throw this question back at you,
and we up against the clock. We could bring it
back up to the break. I asked the question like
back in February or March, if you were starting your
franchise at that point, and I give you tube names.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
No yeah, no, no, no, no, no, hold off those twokaps.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
Okay, well that's one of them. But I got a
different guy, all right.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
I'm anxious to find out who that is. We're continuing on. Yeah,
the NBA Finals start Thursday Thursday.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
It's fine, man, get a little breather and get ready
for Thursday night.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
I like you said, we've seen some exciting playoff basketball.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
Will more. Don't stop me right now?
Speaker 4 (12:30):
Come on, I got a little little man.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
I'm going all right, we roll on. This is Fox

Speaker 4 (13:16):
All right.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
So we're focused in on the teams that are no
longer part of these NBA playoffs.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
And I threw it out to VJA.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
If you could start a franchise two guys that just
went head ahead in the Western Conference Finals, which way
would you go between SGA and ANT.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
He went with ANT not he went with SGA, just
like I did.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
By the way yesterday Martin was he was all hot
and heavy about and and then we brought on Mark
Medina is the tiebreaker and he goes, I hate to
do this, but I'm signing with Hartman here, I.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
Will take SGA. All right, So you wanted to throw
someone aunt versus yes to me?
Speaker 4 (13:54):
All right, I'm right because I think the SGA thing
is it's kind of hard to do now sit where
we are. But the question I had, and I got
my notes out here in front of me because I
took it to a Laker game with me. I talked
to some other reporters and journalists about and just see
what they thought. My question was, if you were starting
a franchise at that point, would you take eight at
Edwards or would you take Kate Cunningham? And when you
go look at the numbers, I knew you would like that.
(14:15):
And when you look at the numbers, so I don't
when you go look at the numbers, because if you
want to talk numbers, Kate Cunningham is thirty seven or
thirty three point shoot this year much better. He's a
better free throw shooter, twenty six better at assists and
about almost the same rebounds.
Speaker 2 (14:29):
All right, lay those stats aside. Okay, okay, I'm going eyeballton.
Okay here, So I'm watching one of the greatest single
season transformations for a franchise ever, if.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
I ever was.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
I mean, from like completely debacle a year ago to
a team that you know, pushed the Knicks all the
way to the limits.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
So I'll put it this way.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
When I look at this Pistons team and I look
at Kid Cunningham's role with this team.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
This gets back to what we were talking about before.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
Kid Cunningham have that leadership quality that is so rare.
You don't understand this, folks. You can't be designated a leader.
It has to be something natural. Do you inspire others
to follow your lead? I think Kate Cunningham has that exactly.
You know, I wasn't expected that name. But the second
(15:20):
you saw my reaction, the second it's about Kid Cunningham's name.
Can the Detroit Pistons get on top of the NBA?
I mean they still obviously have a few missing pieces
along the way, absolutely, but they have the one guy.
Because here's the thing about Kid Cunningham that has impressed me.
More than anything else.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
He survived that year two years ago.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
In other words, a year like that, when you're on
a team that is historically bad, that can suck the
life out of it. You could, I understand that, but
he was still part of that team absolutely, and it
can it can You know you've got talent, your top
picking the draft, You're like, I want out of here,
I want out. I do not want to be here.
(16:02):
This is a losing franchise. And he took it on
his shoulders to say, forget last year. This is a
new season. Follow my lead and we're going to be
a much better team. So you're asking me that question,
do I think Aunt is a better talent?
Speaker 3 (16:19):
It's a fine line, you know. Can he do some
things that Caid Cunningham can't do? Yes, But does that
make him a better leader? I haven't seen it yet,
Like I said, that's the one thing that's missing from Aunt.
I have yet.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
I haven't seen that dynamic that you saw with the
Magic Johnson. You saw with Larry Burden, he saw with
the Michael Jordan, he saw with the Brian Well in
terms of Encore.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
But guys that have that natural leadership quality.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
So my answer to your question is and I wouldn't
have thought i'd say this.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
I'm leading Caid Cunningham.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
Yeah, and that's a question that I threw at a
lot of people because when you talk about twenty six
nine and one forty seven percent from the field, thirty
six from three to eighty five from the free throw line,
those are the numbers that k put up this year.
And he did it with a guy like Dennis Schroeder
coming off the bench, who's who was just kicked to
the side by like three different teams in one year.
(17:15):
And now remember Ivy had a Purdue was a sixteen
and six guy before he got hurt. So a lot
of people feel like that they do have their batman.
It was just, you know, it's a easy young player
first year, right, A lot of people do. Then you
have a kid like Holland then you have a veteran
and see that's what Minnesota does not have. They got
into Michael Conley, but veteran wise, I would take a
guy like Tobias Harris, not that he's a better player
(17:37):
than Conley, but Conley just goes dry way too many
times for me. Like there were times you're watching the
playoffs and you don't hear his name, like you don't
even hear Michael Conley's name. The guys that he had
to do it with with a new coach coming in,
coming off for franchise of losing twenty eight twenty nine
games in the previous year and still a young player,
and both are former number one picks. Now, this isn't
(17:59):
the nine Aunt Edwards guys. I'm just looking at Ann
Edwards and I'm thinking, as you just asked, the question,
can you win a championship with this guy being one
A It's almost like my argument about Jimmy Butler, which
it keeps getting proven time and time again. Is he
a really good player? Yes, but I need to know
can you win a championship with him being the one
(18:22):
A player? I'm just not Ann Edwards is one of
those guys like I gotta see him do it before
I will say I think he can. I would say
I think Cunningham can before Aunt will, because I just
feel like Ant's game just goes like he goes missing.
Speaker 6 (18:38):
Like.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Some of these games he won't take shots well.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
And again the last game, you know, they had that phenomenon,
that weird third game where he just was a mailing
game right for okay, see and again that he goes
on and Okac showed who they were in game four.
I mean they just shut down, you know, and they
shut down Randall shut him down out and you're just
you're you're done. Uh, And then we saw much of
(19:03):
the same and then you know, and then you know, afterwards,
Anthony Edwards was throwing it out there. He goes, I
did I did the right things out there. I passed
my teammates or this.
Speaker 4 (19:13):
I mean, do you remember how Lebron Lebron?
Speaker 7 (19:17):
This was?
Speaker 3 (19:17):
This was the knock on Lebron? Right?
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Is that Lebron is? You know, he's a facilitator. He's
not like the guy that is like a Kobe.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Or a brun Michael facilitator, right, But I mean that
that he that he would He wasn't looking to be
the guy to take the shot.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Now he made. It's not like Lebron hasn't made huge shots.
But when he would pass the ball in a situation
like that, everyone's like, what are you doing?
Speaker 3 (19:41):
I'm like, well, I don't know. Michael Jordan threw it
to the back said did he not?
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Did he not throw it to Steve Kirk for a
big game when he shot, Jordan did that. Everyone saw
Kobe threw it to Rod Artest as he was then
known in Game seven against Boston and test and made
the big shot. And I saw him after the game
and I was there and he's like Kobe.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
I believe that he got all excited about But you want.
Speaker 4 (20:04):
Your guy to be the guy man, You want guy
to want to be the guy. We win or lose
on me, give me the ball. What did Doug Collins
say about Jordan after the shot over craig Elo. They
asked him what the play called. He said the play
was get the ball to Michael. Everybody, get the bleep
out of the way, give me the ball, and everybody
moved and bump on that you're writing down on that
(20:25):
drive race board wiping off. Their stories were Kobe, I
think it was Rudy t or somebody was drawing up
a player Dan Tony. They said Kobe took a towel
and wiped it off and said, look, get me the
ball right here. Everybody get out of the way.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
He's gonna find a spot that looked.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
He goes, whoever want to inbound the ball about to
be part of history, and he goes out and hits
the game winner like that. You I don't understand why
you wouldn't want that if you're Aunt Edwards and some people,
Steve I will say this, and you've been around a
lot of more pro athletes than I have a lot
longer some guys and Darrel okay, like Darre okay with
I'm a star, but do I want to be a
(21:00):
mega super.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Far more guys like that?
Speaker 4 (21:05):
I get paid contet.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
Are all alpha males, they all have egos and everything else.
Speaker 4 (21:11):
But there are a few that.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Are very few, very few, very few.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
And that's why, again getting back to the Anthony Edwards situation,
this idea year ago of so many people anointing him
as the next Michael Jordan. Stop that stop stop stop
stop stop. There was one Michael Jordan. There will only
be one Michael Jordan. You know my argument again, when
we talk about again in the NBA, it's this. The
(21:42):
most dominant player ever was Wilt Chamberlaine. There is no
question about that. The player that had the greatest impact
on the NBA was Michael Jordan, no question about that.
Global But who has the deepest resume. It's Lebron James
He's had the most all NBA team's, most All Star games.
(22:02):
He's now going to be playing more years than any
player in the history of the all time leading scorer.
He's won championships of three different franchises. I mean it
used to be Kareem Lebron has past Kareem for that
fully loaded resume.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
That's how I classify the guys in NBA history.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
But Jordan is still to go correct or No, he.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
Is no player ever before or since, not magic, not
bird doctor, nobody had a bigger impact on the NBA
than Michael Jordan.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
Did you see his NBC do have you seen NBC deal?
Speaker 8 (22:34):
No?
Speaker 4 (22:34):
Forty million, forty million the largest TV analysts, you know,
analysts do forty million dollars. You know you fund said,
I come talk some ball.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Okay, So the celebrity golf tournament up in Lake Tahoe
every year. I used to cover this for years.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
It was great. I did this like seven or eight times.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
So one time we were out there and it was
the day before the actual tournament where they have people
paying an insane amount of money to play around the
golf with all these celebrity athletes and everything else. Jordan
was there and Charles is there, and then all of
a sudden, we had a hailstorm that came.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
I'll never forget this.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
It was hot, you know, an elevation right, and we're
like cooking out that we had to have, you know,
shading because it was so hot. And I'm looking off
in the distance at Lake talking there's this black mass
in blue sky's coming our way. I'm like, what's going
on there? I mean, it was coming down marbles. So
everybody had a flock and they let all of us
because we're covering up our radio equipment into the VIP
(23:33):
tip and there's Barkley and Michael sitting next to each other.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
Michael doesn't talk.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
He loves the fact that Barkley gets all that attention.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
I mean Barkley the guy you.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
See that's Barkley twenty four to seven, folks, what you
see on TV is Charles Barkley.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
That's why everyone loves He's very authentic. That is who Charles.
But Michael Jordan isn't that guy? Not even close? Oh man, well,
I mean you.
Speaker 4 (24:01):
Got true line, Steve, don't roar. They could just walk
in the room and everybody.
Speaker 2 (24:05):
I mean, i mean, guy's a billionaire. How much money
does he need? Another forty million in the bank? What's
really he's gonna He's gonna like, where do I have
to be this week?
Speaker 4 (24:14):
I don't Maybe that's just like a cigar money.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
All right, well, all right, well let's find out what
is trending right now. Now we talk about Rarefied Air
Monte is in that category, of course, the elite of
the elite.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
How are you, MONSI, I'm just dandy.
Speaker 4 (24:33):
How are you? We're doing good?
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Okay, good, I'm a little good. I'm a little put
off that the NBA Finals doesn't start till first day.
Speaker 8 (24:39):
Also also Hartman, I gotta, I gotta put you on
the spot here. Yeah, you have said that your goal
is Lebron James.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Well, he has the greatest resume.
Speaker 8 (24:49):
He didn't say that right now, right at differently, Okay,
I understand this, No say that.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
No. I just gave you three guys.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
I mean, I could still make an argument for Wilt
Chamberlain because no one's ever going to break his.
Speaker 8 (25:07):
Record that you you said you have said on record
on air.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
With me, Yeah, because he has the greatest resume.
Speaker 8 (25:14):
Yeah, but it sounds like you're not very confident on
your go Well, I have no question.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
I have a different I have a different standon because
I have a different standard because I'm you know me,
I'm a stat guy. Nobody your resume to Jordan, it's
not close.
Speaker 8 (25:33):
It's been playing twenty years.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Well exactly, but he averaged more rebounds per game or
assist per game. That's great, all time leading scorer in
the history of the NBA. It's we're all NBA teams,
we're all Star games, and.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Then and then and one, not only championships with the
finals MVPs of three different franchises.
Speaker 8 (25:53):
Is that more impressive than being with one franchise and
doing all the work.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Oh, Mike, My only question about Jordan was, but Jordan,
the numbers don't lie when you look at the ratings.
When Jordan was on, he was like Tiger Woods. I mean,
Jordan had his sizars too.
Speaker 8 (26:06):
Yeah, but he didn't win.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
Well, we're just gonna knock those out as well.
Speaker 8 (26:11):
No, because he said that he won with three different teams.
So that's what I would saying. That's what I was
specifically talking about.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
And again, the teams that Jordan beat in the six
NBA Finals was a has been Laker team right at the.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
End of their run. He beat Portland. Is that team account?
Speaker 2 (26:28):
He beat a one man team Phoenix Suns with Charles Barkley.
He beat the Seattle SuperSonics, and then a couple of
wins against the.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
Stock set again on which did he ever play?
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Game seven? And an NBA Final memory?
Speaker 6 (26:42):
Like that?
Speaker 4 (26:43):
Like an elephant. This man was praising Rick Adelman as
a head coach of Hotel, and we talked about those
Portland teams. So at Portland team he just tried to
bring they weren't the just praised that Portland team two
weeks ago and now it was because I guess speak them.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
Come on, if you're really gonna talk about Jordan's career,
the question is how high do you rank Scottie Pippen.
Was Scottie Pippen a total beneficiary of being the teammate
of Michael Jordan or was he the difference maker that
made Michael Jordan a champion?
Speaker 4 (27:15):
Now that's what you have to do. But if you're
gonna do that, then before Lebron at Wade, Boss, Scotty Love,
Luca guys, I could give you names for Lebron. If
that's what we're gonna do.
Speaker 8 (27:26):
I'm just asking this is this is what I just did.
It's called stirring the pot.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
That's literally what you know what he does that you
two work together for two because now you're rubbed off
on each other. I'm gonna be quiet guy with the updates.
Speaker 8 (27:39):
We give you enough day. Guys.
Speaker 7 (27:40):
We got a lot of baseball going on, like the
Rangers who are edging the Cardinals two to one top
of the sixth inning, Red Sox holding.
Speaker 8 (27:47):
On to that three runs that they score things to
Trevor Stories three RBI double. They're beating the Braves three
to one, bottom of the fourth inning, Orioles on the
scoreboard first against the White Sox two zero, bottom of
the fourth. Phillies have added another run against the Brewers
to zero. They're going to start the fourth inning in Philadelphia.
A's are beating the Blue Jays one zero bottom of
the third, Guardians edging the Angels one zero top of
(28:09):
the fourth. The Mets were down not anymore. Let's see
if somebody hit a home run, because the Rockies were
up on the Mets one zero, and it looks like
Pete Alonso, Yes, Polar Bear Pete has hit a three
run shot for the Mets, so now they're up on
the Rockies three to one bottom of the fourth inning.
The Giants are shutting up the Marlins four zero top
of the fourth inning, and the Astros up on the
Rays first one zero after two innings. Scotti Scheffler has
(28:32):
teed off for the final round of the Memorial and
he is still in the lead. He's eight hundred part overall,
but he's even through two holes for this final round.
Ben Griffin is one shot back. When it comes to
the French Open, two seed, Carlos Alcraz did defeat American
in thirteen seed Bennett Shelton, who put up a good
fight but he won in six sets. So now Carlos
Alcorraz is going to face Tommy Paul, who won his
(28:56):
fourth round match, becoming the first American to reach the
quarterfinals since two thousand and three. So Tommy Paul Carlo
Soakers facing each other in the quarterfinals right now. Francis
Tiapo is in his fourth round match and he is
up two sets to none, but in this third set
he is down five games to four.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Back to you guys, Yeah, exciting that three men American
man even got to the fourth round. Of the French Open.
And again you mentioned Paul. I mean he's first American
to get.
Speaker 8 (29:23):
To the quarters since two thousand and three.
Speaker 3 (29:26):
Yeah, and exactly, it's a long time. I know, we're
not big on the clay, you know that's so.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
Yeah, Mon, it's a quick question for my question, Caate
or Aunt. You started a franchise, Cunningham or Ant?
Speaker 8 (29:39):
How man? You know that's really a hard one. Kate,
Cunningham or Aunt on this short sample size, I feel
like I'd have to go to Cad. It's a short
sample size, and so I don't want to, you know,
it is, and so I feel like we could be
changing our mind in a couple of years. But with
what I can see right now, maybe it's Cad Cunningham
(30:00):
year apart.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
Kate's just finished this fourth season fact, Kate is, so it's.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
Yeah, he's close. Kate is twenty three and Ants twenty four.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (30:08):
Yeah, I mean there're so both young, both young, you
know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (30:11):
Well, Kate also has the advantage of playing in the
Eastern Conference.
Speaker 8 (30:14):
That is good.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
There's a dramatic difference between the easier conference in the West.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
It's going to get to that tele playing in the
Eastern Conference. Just full concept before you go to read that.
When I asked this question, I found my notes. This
is when the Pistons were thirty three and twenty six
and the Timberwolves were thirty two and twenty seven, And
that's when I asked this question. Says over the next
five years, looking at both these guys right now where
they sit. That's why I thought the question was really
(30:39):
fair because Minnesota start out really bad this year, and
you thought they were going to take this leap after
the East Western Conference finals last year.
Speaker 8 (30:44):
They punted too right when they traded right, Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
So that that's why I want to just want to contest.
I know someone's out there, like VJ. I'm like, hey,
I asked the question when both teams were one game
apart after fifty plus games this year. I thought it
was a fair question.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
I think a lot of people are signing McKay cunning again,
no knock on an all that little.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
Bit of something extra maybe changed my mind.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
All right, once again, Harbin and Husky here Fox Sports Sunday,
run the Fox Sports radio studios. All right, I want
to turn my attention to the New York Knicks. All right,
so let's let's I ask you this very basic question.
The Knicks run this year. Was it an aberration or
is this a team now destined for even greater things
(31:29):
in the near future.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
I think it's a total aberration this year. I think
they'll take a step back because I just don't believe
in Karl Anthony Towns. I just don't.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
I just even it disappears.
Speaker 4 (31:38):
It's funny. Ray Now asked me last night when she
was like, why are you cause I talk out loud
when I watch sports like, I talk out loud, and
I don't care if no one's in the room. I've
got neighbors to be like, hey man, yeah, people over
last night I'm like, nah, what do you I heard people? No,
you just heard me. I was talking to the TV.
But she asked me, he goes, why don't you like
that guy? You've been talking trash about him for Yes,
I just don't. There's just something about him. I think
(31:58):
you're just too damn big to be out on the
perimeter so much. And if you got your butt down
in the post and he was all the NBA this year,
and you know his points were up, you'd average thirty
three thirty four points at night broes he on him
and ate anybody on his side, nobody, nobody, not.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
Other guys in side.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
And a team that drafted a number one eventually within
the first you know, seven eight year set. Bye bye.
Speaker 3 (32:22):
It's been interesting. Jalen Brunson is a throwback.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
I mean, Jalen Brunson would have fit in on those
Knicks teams of the nineties.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
Yeah, cat he would have been.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
And then no chance, fellow you marshmellow. I just always
looked at him like, yeah, you got a three point shot,
and yeah, when you put the ball on the floor,
you can get to the Holo mouse turner. He's never
gonna be mistaken as a top defender. But when you
look at this whole roster, Josh Hart's not gonna be
there much longer. Who's the heart and soul of this team?
And is just a darn good professional basketball play. You
(32:51):
talk about a guy I love that's not a superstar, well,
he one of my favorite players to watch him get boards.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
I mean, you know he fights fight.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
I mean, if honestly, if Karl Anthony Down's had that
kind of firing and we would be dominant.
Speaker 4 (33:06):
Are the fire that Williams has it them that's coming
off the bitch, that's keeping you And anytime, Steve, you're
kept on the bitch because of situational I'm done. Like
that can't be good for the future, because we know, okay,
if we need to defend it, we need to get
on the boards. We have to pull you off the
floor and put a guy on the floor who can't
go get his own shot at all. Williams buggets are
(33:26):
all off of offensive rebounds, tip ins, things of that nature.
We can't dump the ball to Williams and go all right,
give me your post move that you've been working on
and go get me a bucket. He can't do that.
So when you have to get pulled off the flour
for that, Steve, to me, dude, you're almost like another
role player with the big name putting up good numbers.
They answer your question. I think a total admiration, you know,
I think these teams Indiana, Cleveland, Detroit, Boston teams are
(33:49):
gonna be better next year. I just look at this
Nick team, was like, maybe it's the course you guys
took to get where you got to.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
But well, let me just whoop them, all right, So
we were talking about Detroit obviously, and then they pushed
the takes hard in that series. Celtics are facing the
real possibility of Tatum being out all of next year. Obviously,
the Pacers somebody had to win the East and it
was the Pacers and they played well. But I mean,
(34:14):
if if you're looking here a crystal ball for next season,
let's get on the record right now here, on this
June first, who's going to be the Eastern Conference champion
a year?
Speaker 3 (34:24):
For now?
Speaker 4 (34:26):
It all depends on what Boston does with that spot
for Tatum, because they're going to try to go get somebody.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
All right, We'll hang on to that thought because we're
going to get that answer. We'll give you both our answers.
It's a tough call because again the Celtics, are they
good enough without Tatum to still take control of the East,
something they fail again to do this year.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
We'll break it down. This is Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio, Harman Husky, Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
Once again, we're here in the Fox Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Are you left us hanging again?
Speaker 2 (35:02):
I like this I have and by the way, we're
not talking about this specifically, we're talking about everything else
during the break. So, okay, you left me hanging. Where
were we on this hanging question?
Speaker 4 (35:13):
Well, we're talking about the Nikobacchus and what they could
be next year, right, But there's so much flux that's
going to happen in the Eastern Conference.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
This all so I asked you on this June first,
so look into your crystal ball and tell me who
will be the Eastern Conference champion a year from now.
Speaker 4 (35:35):
I mean, I could see it being the Cleveland Cavaliers
again because they just won sixty four games, right, sixtyepore
and eighteen, and lot's not going to change unless they
blow it up.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Would But they do not play well at.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
All in these players. That's that's true, But neither did
Okay see last year. And sometimes young teams, and I've
been a proponent on this forever, young teams do not
win NBA championships. They just don't. Maybe a young superstar does,
Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, maybe a young guy, but young
teams don't win NBA championships. You must go through the hurt,
(36:13):
the pain, the learning curves. We've seen it. Okay, See,
we see where they are now we've seen it with
the Pacers. We've seen where they are now. It could
be Cleveland next year because the last two years haven't
gone according to Planet. Maybe next year of the year
they break through. But that's the only team I can
give you. Because you and I were talking doing a break.
We don't know what's gonna happen with Boston. I think
Giannis is gone out of the.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
Bus, all right, slow down right there? See that to
me is the X factor in the East. What is
next for Gianni's exact right By the way, we were
talking off air about this one possible destination because this
is a proud franchise led by one of the biggest
names in NBA history, speaking.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
Of pat Riley and the Miami Heat God.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
After getting rid of Jimmy Butler, they're back to ground zero,
right And so do you want to Kevin Durant at
the end of his career.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
You're like, no, No, what would you want? Yanna?
Speaker 4 (37:02):
Absolutely?
Speaker 2 (37:03):
You know absolutely, I mean you you give up anything
right now to get that level of player.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
Down in Miami and put your.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
Franchise back on the map. And if Jannis goes to
Miami and they could put a few pieces around him. Again,
to me, there's even with Cleveland, there's nothing that really
separates any of these teams, especially with Jason Tatum out
for the foreseeable future of the Celtics. So I don't
even takes that much. You gotta have a star, yep.
But if you just get a few role guys.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
That fit, that could be enough to win the East.
Speaker 5 (37:35):
A name.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
I thought that there's a free agent unrestricted this offseason.
Watch where brook Lopez ends up this offseason. A big
seven footer who can shoot the three healthy available, not
gonna complain, not gonna try to do anything I had
of care to, try to go get his own shot,
try to show up. He's gonna that's a guy that
can fall right in the line. You're putting him with
Bamm and we're speaking hypothetical guys and we're way way
(37:57):
way ahead. But a guy like brooke Y Bam Hero
and then like you said, even some of the other
smaller pieces they got there.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
I mean, I guess there there you go. You see guy.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
But you know some of those veterans that's looking for
the league, for the league men, right, they're trying to
get somewhere, last few checks and be on the contending team.
It's just, you know, it's it's it's a big possibility
to where he lands.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
We're gonna get much more into this NBA Finals matchup
between the Pacers and the Thunder, But.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Just a quick note about Indiana.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
So I was watching a YouTube video on sort of
like the last ten years of the Pacers, how they
got to this point, right, And when you think about it,
this Pacers roster is a collection of rejects. Yeah, they
were rejected by this franchise, rejected by that franchise. We're
(38:49):
gonna move on from this guy, move on from that guy.
And the one thing the reason the Pacers are in
the NBA Finals is very evident. Have you been watching
They have the best chemistry. Their pieces fit at the right.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
Time of the year. Pascal.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
I mean, this is a guy that was an All Star, right,
but did you ever think was that kind of a guy?
Speaker 6 (39:11):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (39:12):
Never? Never?
Speaker 2 (39:13):
And he deserves a lab all due respect to Tyres Haliburt,
he deserved Conference Finals MVP thirty one points last night,
took his game to another level and he's got that
championship pedigree. But when you think about it, this is
really what it came down to the Pacers. Put guys
together and start putting pieces together. A lot of guys
that were basically rejected by other franchises, and they're able
(39:36):
to get Rick Carlisle.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
One of the best coaches in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
But he figured out how to put the pieces together
at the right time.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
That's what I was going to add. We need to
salute and give a shout out to Rick Carlisle. Gentlemen,
if you don't know is Rick Carlisle is number eleven
on the all times win list. This man can coach
basketball game.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
Remember his first two years with Detroit r.
Speaker 4 (40:01):
Come on, a pissoness guy, but when you still see
his passion on the sideline, he's the main reason why
they're in the NBA Finals.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
All right, coming up on the other side, okase, he
gets ready for Indiana.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
How good is okac? You have no idea? This is
Fox Sports Sunday. Roll along, Hair on another busy sports Sunday.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
This is Fox Sports Sunday, and we are in the
Fox Sports radio studios.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
All right, let's get right to this right now.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
So as I was leading the house today, my younger son,
who is the NBA addict, he is BJ You and
I obviously follow the NBA. I'll give you credit the
current NBA. You're more on top of it than I am.
But then my son Garrett is like a different level.
(40:50):
And this this kid, I mean, he is this thing,
this has always been.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
This thing is the NBA.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
He plays that NBA two K right, he redoes franchise
over and over, then plays out the next ten years
and then I mean over and over and over again.
So he's always hitting abody. Hey, dad, you know where
this guy went to college?
Speaker 3 (41:08):
I got no.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
Most of these guys are one and done guys I
can't remember, you know, unless they were in the final four.
So anyway, I'm leaving today and immediately hits me up
with you know, if the Pacers win one of the games,
and okay, I said stop, stop okay. So and the
reason I said stop is this, if you really haven't
(41:29):
picked up on what OKAC has done in this postseason,
and not just this postseason.
Speaker 3 (41:35):
What they have done all year long.
Speaker 2 (41:38):
Sixty eight wins, average margin of victory thirteen points per
game for the entire year, record setting point differential in
the postseason, even with losing a game by forty two points. Right,
But as scary as they have been this year, and
now that they have gotten that cars, we talked about,
(42:01):
you know, the growing pains of getting over the hump.
This is where the Bulls were in ninety one when
they got over the hump. You know, they got past
the Pistons and they never looked back. Let's talk about
what's gonna happen with OKAC because I'm going to go
right now on the record.
Speaker 3 (42:18):
Ok See, we'll win these.
Speaker 2 (42:19):
NBA Finals and the Pacers will be lucky to win
even a single game. No knock on the Pacers. They
might win a game, that'll be it. But here, here,
here's where it gets scary for OKAC. So you know
how this franchise is put together. This is the second
youngest team ever to make it to the NBA Finals,
By the way, the youngest team was the seventy seven
(42:39):
Portland Trail Blazers with a twenty four year old Bill Walton.
And by the way, the year the next year, they
were fifty to ten to start the season when Bill
went down with an injury. Never played another game with
the Blazers and that was it. That was it, that
was it.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
So injuries are always a part of it. But here's
what's scary about this OKC team. Average age twenty five
and a half. And you got a chet Holmger and
he got a Jalen Williams to go with Shay Gilgess
Alexander So there's your nucleus right there, right. They have
ten first round picks over the next five years. They
have five in the next two years. They are still
feeding off that Clippers trade. So they have two number
(43:16):
ones in this year's draft. They have three number ones
in next year's draft. So even as your faced with
the dilemma of having to pay your young stars all
this money, they have a chance to reload with more
and more talent because you can package number ones together.
Speaker 3 (43:32):
As we know, or I mean, there's just you have.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
When you have all these draft picks, it gives you
countless options to either you know, move up in the
draft or use those draft picks to get a very
young veteran player to add to the mix.
Speaker 3 (43:46):
So when you have that.
Speaker 2 (43:47):
Kind of flexibility with your roster, they have limitless flexibility
with the roster over the next three, four, five years.
There is nothing that could prevent bar Look, Shay Gill
just goes down with the injury.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
They have some that can all happen. But if you are.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
Just taking a step back and really looking at what
they have now, what they've done this season, what I
think they're gonna do in these NBA finals, and how
that bodes for the near future. This run of like
a different champion every year is going to end. OKAC
is going to dominate the NBA for the balance of
(44:24):
this decade.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
I don't think I disagree with what most you said.
I just want to preface it in a different way.
I'm looking at this OKC team and they remind me
of another team. We just saw. You and I were
talking to a coursial break and we thought brought the Spurs.
But the Spurs did it for twenty years. You and
I both believe you can't do that in today's game anymow.
They way the contracts work and the way players act,
(44:45):
and coaches get fired, and guys want to team up
and go get this guy, and go get that guy,
and go fi We're just gonna see that. I think seven.
I think they get today's world, today's NBA. You can
get a good five to seven year real open win.
Know they be competitive and be serious. Title contenders every year.
So it started getting me to think about the Golden
(45:06):
State Warriors. And when they really kind of came onto
the scene, they had, you know, first round elimination. Then
they had the series against uh, the Clippers and the
whole Donald Sterling thing, and you know, got eliminated the
second round, and then the light went on and same
thing had a star and Steph had a second rate
guy and Clay and then you had Raymond. This this this,
(45:28):
this Oklahoma City.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
Team got SGA And your key addition was when the
gat agdal Yeah, I go a dollar the first championship.
Speaker 4 (45:36):
Yet when they got a lot of guys on that
on that on that team that they they veterans that
they bring in Barbosa, like they added some events to
get them over the hump. And you look at this
team with OKC. You got sg A, you got Williams,
you got home Run, but then you got Dort, then
you got Hernstein, like you like, you got some guys
that that they're not gonna want to lead. You got Caruso.
(45:58):
They're not gonna want to go now, They're gonna want
to stay there. So maybe if you guys take a
little less money here and there from year to year
or what have you. And like you said, they have
all these picks, all these first round picks. Crazy and
then eventually what did Golden State do? They used all
the capitols they had to do what to go get
Kevin Durant? Right, So just joking around, laughing, wouldn't it
(46:19):
be hilarious if okay see won the championship and then
traded like five number ones to Milwaukee for Janniss? Why
why not? Hey number one?
Speaker 3 (46:29):
They will you out do it?
Speaker 4 (46:31):
We'll give you five number one. If you can't rebuild
off that, we'll give you five number one. We don't care.
We just won the championship. We're straight, we don't even
we don't really need number ones right now. But we'll
add to this if we can.
Speaker 2 (46:41):
If they even if they hit on one of those picks. Yeah,
if they can hit on one of those picks. Now,
now you got a four man nick exactly. And you
know when you talk about adding veteran, I'll never get
the Lakers in the eighties. So here you got magic
now and you got Kareem and they got this nucleus
developing Michael Cooper for defense, and then out of the blue,
(47:03):
they sign a guy that everyone thought was finished, Bob McAdoo.
I mean Bob McAdoo, baby greatest shooting big man. I
still think to this day it was a much more
physical game. You don't have the wide open like you
could talk about Dirk and talk about Kevin Durant.
Speaker 3 (47:19):
What I mean. Yeah, But I mean when.
Speaker 2 (47:20):
You when you think about Bob McAdoo, I mean he
was a scoring machine early in his career with the
Buffalo Braves, and he was the perfect piece of Lakers
because he no one matched up with this guy. He
could give you fifteen to twenty minutes instant points. And
that's where this is where this Okay, seeon when you
are I mean, we're.
Speaker 3 (47:39):
Just talking first round picks. They got it almost as
many second round picks.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
They are just sitting with a barrel full of picks
over the next five years, still courtesy of that Clippers trade.
And they just have so much flexibility. They're such a
young team. They had to learn how to win in
the playoffs. They're showing it right now. They're really strutting
their stuff. You sort of hesitated when I talked about
blitzing in the end in the series. No knocking the Pacers.
(48:04):
But I mean, how the Pacers gonna match up with
the Death I can't.
Speaker 4 (48:08):
For got to answer for that, but would okay, see
another thing about and just to put a bow on
the Golden State comparison, A lot of people look at
those Golden State teams. They forget one thing because we
know about the offense in the shooting. People forget what
a great rebounding team they were and what a great
defensive team they were. They like, they'll blow you out
because they could stop you. Okay, see how many times
we see, okay, see win games this year like one
forty three to one eleven or one fifty five or
(48:30):
one to fifty one to one o thre they're blowing
people out because they can stop people right now. Okay,
see fourth and overall defense, fourth and rebounding, fourth and blocks.
But they were also fourth and field goal percentage. So
not only could can they score, they have times to
lock you down the way what.
Speaker 3 (48:45):
They did in Game four against Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (48:47):
Yeah, when you come back on the road after getting
blown up by forty two and just shut them down, it's.
Speaker 4 (48:55):
Called mental growth and mental toughness. Not to go in
the tank. Think about it. They lose the first game
to Aaron Gordon's game winner. Shay Gilga. Alexander sitting at
the podium and he got knocked for this, but he
was like, you know, it is what it is, but
we're about to see what we really made of. Should
be fun. And he left it at the Oh my god,
he had to like you that. No, he just remember
(49:15):
we walked off the court smiling, and everybody question that
he goes. I never want anybody to see any weakness
in me. I never want nobody to see that I'm down.
I never I'm you know, I'm saying we're good. We're good,
and that's one thing, and that's another thing you want
out of your stars. We're good. But this this OKC
team is really really good. But I think Indiana has
a shot. And just the only reason why I think
that this is the only shot they have. Can Okase
(49:37):
keep up with them because Indiana plays like a college team.
They're going to ninety foot press you every possession, and
the Knicks found out they just couldn't run with you. You
could run with us for about a half, but this
is how we play. We're not trying to just because
you're playing. We've been playing like this all year long.
We get the ball out. How many times did you
(49:58):
see them score off from may buckets? I'm talking a
bucket will go through. They get it out to hoop
one foot out of bounce and bounce the team. Every
one on the team, those who look up and they're
getting the boy, and it's like, and you'll get a layup.
And I'm listening to Reggie Miller and Van Gunnigo. That's
like the seventh time off of a nick like layup.
They turn around to get a layup within five seconds.
(50:18):
And the last thing is okay. See, Indiana has three
guys that they can throw a shae. They got three
really good perimeter defenders that they can throw his shae
and give him three because it wore Bronson dead. But
he is underrated. I mean again, he's got to take
the big shots.
Speaker 3 (50:35):
At the end.
Speaker 2 (50:35):
I'm not going to be a hypocrite on that, but
he is an underrated passer. I mean, I think he
finds guys, you know, and it's not just.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
A matter of finding the guys. He the timing of
his passes.
Speaker 2 (50:49):
I mean he can he gets guys wide open for
threes and they knock him down. Look, I like this
Indiana team a lot. As I said at the beginning,
you know, this is a team of rejacks. This is
a team of a lot of players that other franchises
deemed expendable.
Speaker 3 (51:04):
And they have put this all together.
Speaker 2 (51:06):
Carlisle is absolutely one of the best coaches of the NBA.
Speaker 3 (51:09):
People forget after he left Detroit he went to.
Speaker 2 (51:11):
Indiana, you know, and then he ends up winning a
championship with Dallas.
Speaker 4 (51:15):
We'll say, don't forget about that ring that you got.
Speaker 3 (51:18):
Well he won that ring, but you got life out
of Jason Kidd.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
You know, with all the necessary focus on dirt, he
squeezed something out of Jason Kidd. I need your leadership
against this Heat team, and they got the job done
and upsetting the Heat that year.
Speaker 3 (51:35):
So I'm a big believer in Carlisle.
Speaker 4 (51:36):
Would you be surprised if I told you I thought
this series can go seven, this series coming out, I
would be I'm very excited about that. Fine, I don't
very excited about it.
Speaker 3 (51:46):
I don't have a horse in this ring neither I would.
Speaker 2 (51:49):
All I want is a competitive series where I'm anxious
to see the next game. You know, if O case
blows out Indiana in the first game at home.
Speaker 4 (51:58):
Is it's not gonna mean nothing.
Speaker 2 (51:59):
It may not, but it doesn't give me make it
a competitive first game?
Speaker 3 (52:05):
All right, I'm ready for game two?
Speaker 4 (52:06):
No, because I let me say this.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
OKC wins the first two games at home by double digits,
which is what they've been doing all season long.
Speaker 4 (52:14):
And that's what you're supposed to do. And now you
got to go to Indiana in a hostile environment. And
it's just another point. You mentioned them, we both talked
about them. Who would you take as the coach? You go,
that's good, that's going to be indis finals. Is they
have Rick Carlisle in Oklahoma City. Doesn't listen, I'll come
(52:34):
on in a minute. Wrong, guys, if it's a five
game or they get swept, but if this thing gets
the six, I'm going with the coach that's been here,
that's done it. And I got a young team, just
like you got a young team. We got two young
teams plus VJ.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
We've been saying all season long, the difference between the
Western Conference and the Eastern Conference. This is like when
the Lakers played the Nets and you're watching the net.
Speaker 4 (52:58):
Lakers had Kobe and Shaq the nets Head Kid and
Kenyon Martin Like, it's just no comparison. It's just no,
it's no comparison.
Speaker 3 (53:06):
I think will do that kind of what he did
in this series, he can do that again.
Speaker 4 (53:11):
Absolutely, I'm sold in on hockey. Come, I'm sold in.
I'm sold in. I'm yes, I'm you want the question,
give you the answer. I'm sold in on this guy.
Where's it gonna go? And if you ask me s
g A and and Halliburn, I don't want to call
it a wash. I'll still give the edge. I'll still
give the edge the sg A. But I'm just not
gonna play Halliburn like this man. I'm not gonna play
(53:32):
an Olympic gold medalist. I'm not gonna play a guy
that's been leading the team, that's led this league in
assists and when it's time for him to step up
and make all the big shots this year, that's what
he's done.
Speaker 2 (53:42):
Okay, So I'm gonna say this. I hope you're right.
I think you're wrong. Yeah, of course, I mean that's
pretty much where I'm at.
Speaker 4 (53:49):
We get the show, because I mean it starts Thursdays.
I guess we got it.
Speaker 3 (53:52):
We're gonna do lunch.
Speaker 4 (53:53):
Yes, yes, all right, I ain't never scared crushing.
Speaker 3 (53:58):
Okay, by the way, a little bit later on and
we are going to have our over unders Chris. Are
we ready for over unders today? Oh? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (54:06):
Can we figure out it? Are you gonna are you
going to introduce the name Chris? Do I need to wait?
Speaker 9 (54:10):
We will introduce the name I was just talking with Ricky.
I hold on a second, Ricky thumbs up, thumbs down?
Is the imaging in? The imaging is in?
Speaker 7 (54:16):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (54:17):
And what time is this that whenever you decide, whenever
we decide, whatever you want to do, you.
Speaker 3 (54:23):
Want to do it next segment, We'll do it next
segment to your show? Why am I? Okay?
Speaker 2 (54:26):
We can we can tell you a little breath, Okay,
let's do it. I'm just trying to piece this all
together because we all we got we got some NFL news.
Speaker 3 (54:34):
We're going to get to it is our show.
Speaker 2 (54:35):
But anyway, we uh, we want some NFL news. We're
going to get in and obviously John Palm Rossi is
joining us in the next hour. So all right, well,
let's get ready for another installment of what has been
known up until now, as over Unders, but apparently a
completely different name. What will it be? Find out? This
is Fox Sports Sunday. Should listened to Arnie sing this,
(54:58):
Harman and Husky Fox Words Sunday here in the Fox
Sports radio studios. All right, so we are highly anticipating
the debut of a segment that was actually introduced by
Chris Purfett, our chairman of the board over here.
Speaker 3 (55:17):
And he chairman of the board. I like that.
Speaker 2 (55:20):
Yeah, you know, I actually it's not the first time
I've used this, but I yeah, the guy that's.
Speaker 3 (55:25):
The chairman of the board board, Yeah, yeah, you're the
chairman of the board. Do you sit in a chair, Yeah,
you're the chairman of the board. You have on the
board and you're the chair board. Yeah, at the big.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
Board at So do we have it yet? Is Ricky
that together?
Speaker 3 (55:40):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (55:41):
So all we know is a couple of weeks ago
this really started. If you're you're just finding out about this.
So I was, I was here, I'm always here, way
early before the show and Chris purfet throws something at
me that was like, he goes, I got over under.
Speaker 3 (55:58):
How many snaps.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
Standers will take in the regular season for the Cleveland
Browns this year and over under was a half, which
is basically saying that either he will actually play a game,
take a snap, one snap for the Browns this year,
or the zero. And so I thought, okay, let's let's
throw that at v J. And Jay's reaction was pretty
(56:23):
much the same, like, what did you say half? I thought,
I thought he spoke yeah.
Speaker 9 (56:29):
Half over under three and a half shows you keep
explaining the origin of this, Well.
Speaker 3 (56:33):
I'm going to do it because over understand this. Understand
this we have because we have.
Speaker 2 (56:41):
New listeners around the world every single day. You know,
every single every second that we're on the air, somebody
is listening for the first time.
Speaker 4 (56:50):
I push push, social Media push.
Speaker 2 (56:54):
Every second we're on the air, we have a new listener.
All right, so let's hear now a new name intro
knew everything.
Speaker 3 (57:02):
Well, gentlemen, it's time here.
Speaker 4 (57:04):
We are precise, profitable over under a half a flagrant.
Are your perfect picks, perfect.
Speaker 9 (57:14):
Mixer in the house? You start as always tallying up.
Last time I had to really go around you. We'll
get a point for the landscape of that, thank you.
So I haven't actually looked at the Panthers goals yet
I actually got crunched on time while I was commissering
v with with Ricky in the back. Thanks to Ricky
for the imaging. I we set the over under three
(57:36):
and a half goals. I do not know what they
did to the leafs.
Speaker 4 (57:40):
They went over like five yeah over, I catched on
they killed him.
Speaker 9 (57:45):
That's right, yeah yeah yeah, So that that is a
that is actually a point for VJ.
Speaker 4 (57:51):
Point for VJ.
Speaker 9 (57:52):
Also on complete game, we actually just had one like
yesterday by the reds Little so complete game was pitched
in MLB after twek schoobl got one. So actually I
think there was a whole explosion of complete games. Angel
Reese also went over twenty eight and a half points.
Tally that up again for Steve. Actually not VJ went under,
(58:16):
so right now, two to one, thank you, Angel, actually
three one because you got moves and you both went
under on the half a choke sign, so that's points
to both of you.
Speaker 4 (58:30):
I did not watch, and so I know, no, I
wish there was.
Speaker 3 (58:35):
I was waiting at the end of the game yesterday.
Speaker 2 (58:38):
You know what, Russell Miller should have done a choke song,
but he wasn't going to do that at home. Yeah,
if they had won in New York Game seven, I
guarantee you all right, all right, So do we have
a scoreboard? Are we keeping score here? I will put
together the master scoreboard. I've been moving a lot of
these notes over to a to a spreadsheet, so I
(58:58):
mean it is a competition, right and there you have
some that are still far out into the future, including
one today. We're gonna start doing totals for teams in
the NFL sill one end each week as we keep
going along.
Speaker 3 (59:10):
So let's start. Let's start. Let's start first with the finals.
Speaker 9 (59:12):
We'll start with an easy one shake Gildas Alexander, and
I'm low balling this a little bit because I think
his points for games higher than this U thirty two
and a half for game one points.
Speaker 3 (59:24):
That's a good number.
Speaker 4 (59:26):
I think he averages thirty two point seven day.
Speaker 2 (59:28):
You want this first, so you'll tell you I'll take
the four first, because I'm gonna go with the three.
Speaker 4 (59:32):
I'm gonna go at one point that I think we'll
keep Indiana in this series. They have three legitimate, really
good to great perimeter defenders, and I think Shay Gilges
Alexander will start a little slow, try to get his
team involved at days in that nature. For for game one,
give me the under. I like twenty six, twenty seven
points something that I'll take the under, thirty thirty two
(59:52):
and a half, thirty two and a half, give me
the under one for game one, give me the under.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
And I'm so glad you put out a number like
that because it does seem like a big number, nearly
big enough.
Speaker 3 (01:00:01):
I know what you're saying, but to me, this.
Speaker 2 (01:00:04):
Is Shake Gildess Alexander's first NBA Finals game as the
MVP of the league. And remember the last time a
regular season MVP won a championship the same season was
Steph Curry back in twenty to fifteen, ten years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
So this is a guy on a mission right now.
Speaker 2 (01:00:24):
I fully expect Shake Guildess Alexander to go off in
Game one to what I believe is going to be
an easy thunder victory. So I will definitely take over on.
Speaker 3 (01:00:34):
That one, all right, VJ on the under, yes.
Speaker 4 (01:00:36):
Steve on the over. All right.
Speaker 9 (01:00:39):
So Dodgers are on the doorstep of a sweep of
the New York Yankees.
Speaker 4 (01:00:43):
Game three is tonight.
Speaker 9 (01:00:45):
I was originally thinking about some Aaron Judge home runs,
but we'll just keep the simple guys over under a
half a sweep for the Dodgers.
Speaker 4 (01:00:55):
It was a little bump for the Dodgers to night.
Speaker 3 (01:00:57):
Doesn't matter. Oh as long as it's not all right,
I will tell you right now. Hold on, let me get.
Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
To uh, you know what after eighteen to two last
night and getting embarrassed like that and then the game
before Judge and show, hey go out.
Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
It is Yamamoto on the mound for the Dodgers. There
Yarborough's on the mound for the Yankees. Knight's pitched pretty
well this year, but he hasn't pitched as well as Yamamoto,
but he is is Yamloto.
Speaker 4 (01:01:26):
You know, give me, give me the over man. I
think the Dodgers finished. The Yankees haven't shown me anything
in this series. They think they can hang with the Dodgers.
To be honest with you, you can eighteen runs. They're they're
knocking you all over the diamond. I'll take the Dodgers
the sweet fish and finish this to night.
Speaker 2 (01:01:44):
I'm not taking the Yankees the No freaking way am
I gonna pick the Yankees against the Dodgers. So we're
on the same page. Yamamoto is gonna be lights out?
Could you believe that game last night? And by the way, Eric,
by the did know Tom? These are ridiculous just hitting
four hundred and fifty, It's like it's nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:02:06):
You know what's.
Speaker 9 (01:02:07):
Ridiculous is these City connect jerseys. They stink, They're awful.
They look I thought the Tigers looked bad. This is
just looks you picked them up with like a good
will or something.
Speaker 4 (01:02:19):
The range is alternate, the ranges Friday jerseys are horrible time.
Speaker 9 (01:02:23):
So no, we're we're on the same one there with
the Okay, okay, I really wish we had some Champions
League to do, just so I could really tie the
screws to Steve.
Speaker 4 (01:02:31):
Unfortunately ended that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
I actually last night doing my TV work, I had
back to back to back to back soccer stories.
Speaker 3 (01:02:38):
Well I can't even and it was crazy.
Speaker 9 (01:02:40):
I can't even do casualties from from the PSG rate
because we already have numbers from that.
Speaker 3 (01:02:44):
And by the way, so it was Milan that lost.
Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
Inter Milan, So Inner Milan loses to France, right, We
actually showed them awarding the silver medals.
Speaker 3 (01:02:55):
They had the line where.
Speaker 4 (01:02:57):
And you and I were in the studio watching that.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
So as soon as they had the medals put around
their neck, they took them.
Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
Off, right, They got him there.
Speaker 9 (01:03:04):
I'm five mil Yeah, that is That is a loss
that will stick for a generation of inter Milan fans.
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
But it was hilarious as they were having the silver
medals put around their neck that you were all taking
them off. I want to remind of this nightmare.
Speaker 4 (01:03:19):
We just let them.
Speaker 9 (01:03:20):
Either way, We'll set soccer to the side. I did
promise you an NFL total, So here's our next team.
We've already done the forty nine ers. Uh in the
news this week was by the way, I did not
realize Schottenheimer was the coach of the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (01:03:32):
I had completely forgotten.
Speaker 9 (01:03:34):
Yes, Shot and Seat Nimer kept wanting to say Scottie Shottenheimer.
I'm like, that's wrong anyway. Calling Dak Prescott a developmental
is still in a developmental phase. Dak Prescott was in
college last when before, like Dak Prescott was out of
college when I started my Lions podcast, which was ten
(01:03:54):
years ago.
Speaker 4 (01:03:56):
He's not developmental. So I looked at the total.
Speaker 9 (01:03:58):
Their total now sits in Vegas seven and a half
wins for a very listless Dallas club. This year America's
team over in a half, seven a half wins. Whatch
you got, guys?
Speaker 2 (01:04:09):
Well, last year I picked Dallas to win the Super Bowl,
as you know, that was my That was my pick
last year. I thought, you know, after so many close calls.
Remember they were coming off a stretch of twelve thirteen
win seasons and I killed them early on.
Speaker 3 (01:04:24):
Seven and a half. Brilliant, that's what the number is.
Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
That low schedule, tough, that's why it's there.
Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Well, I mean I say this, and I think VGA
would agree. The Commanders as unbelievable as they were a
year ago, I think they take a little bit of
a step backwards before they move forward always. So I'm
going to go over here. I think the Cowboys can
certainly go eight and nine. I mean, to me, like
a nine and eighteen is what I'm looking at with
(01:04:52):
Dallas right now. There's still plenty of talent just about
like keeping guys healthy.
Speaker 3 (01:04:56):
So yeah, I'll go over. Seven and a half.
Speaker 4 (01:05:00):
Part of the schedule is kind of average.
Speaker 8 (01:05:01):
That me.
Speaker 4 (01:05:01):
They open up on that Thursday night game first year
against the Eagles, when they'll drop their banner for the
Super Bowl. That's an l. But then after that you
have the Giants. They're at the Bears winnable, Packers at
Home winnable, the Jets at the Panthers, and then the Commanders,
Broncos and Cardinals. I can see a lot of teams
that are like getting hype for some of them exactly.
But you know, I don't think the Cardinals are going
(01:05:22):
there beating them. They can go to Denver. It's not
gonna be cold, it's gonna be only October twenty six.
At that point when they go to Denver to play,
I think they maybe get four or five wins out
of there. And then coming down the stretch, coming down
the stretches not as hard as you know, people would
think it's Homi gets the Chargers at the Commanders. You
know who's going to be heard, who's going to be available.
And then they finished off and met life against the Giants.
Give me the old run with you on this, Steve
(01:05:43):
seven and a half seems kind of low. They added
a receiver. Everybody loves the move that they've made. Dak
missed last year. Guys, remember so that comes back the
year's deck's played.
Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
They've win ten plus games when joh He was second
in the NBC voted.
Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
Right, So I think this is based off of last year,
but I don't know if they added in the fact
that Dak was out and miss most of the year
because of the injury. Give me the over here, this
is easy for me. Seven.
Speaker 9 (01:06:06):
I think they are ten wins over both of Okay, well,
that one goes in the spreadsheet. We'll eventually get to
the whole season. Finally, guys. Personal one for me. I
was tooling around last night, got dinner out, went to Wendy's,
which is a terrible decision.
Speaker 4 (01:06:20):
Usually for me.
Speaker 3 (01:06:22):
I like their chicken sandwiches. So they're chilli.
Speaker 9 (01:06:26):
No absolutely no, no, no, god no, no wrong. So
the story is about the chicken sandwich. I got the chicken.
Usually it's a big piece of you know, fried chicken.
But it's like the chicken breast. It's it's good. It's
why I like going there. I guess they must have
been out because when I opened up the wrapper when
I got home, it was two of the crispy chickens
(01:06:48):
pattie patties put together. It was, but it was two
of them stacked on the butt with the lettuce and cheese.
Speaker 3 (01:06:56):
And I'm just like, who does this?
Speaker 9 (01:06:58):
So I look, I'm kind of between grocery trips. I
will probably end up at Wendy's at some point in
the next three days over and under one and a
half chicken patties from my next trip to Wendy's.
Speaker 4 (01:07:11):
Uh, you'll get on this, they'll get they'll get. A
right question I have for you is did you go
through the drive through? I did, and that's why you
got the sandwich you got because they know head on
the app they should have idear detail. You remember Joe
Pesci and lethal weapons. When they get what do they say?
It goes? They bleep you with the drive through. They
know you're gonna be too far away to turn around
(01:07:31):
and come back. They know what they were doing when
they made that stands I've come back before.
Speaker 10 (01:07:36):
I'll say, under man, they get it right for you.
They get it right for you next time. That's okay,
but that begs the question. Then are you gonna do
the next time you're going? Are you going through the
drive through?
Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
Do you ever go again?
Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
Of course I walk. Then I'm gonna go over. They're
gonna do what they're gonna do it to you again.
Speaker 4 (01:07:53):
By the way. How many times?
Speaker 3 (01:07:54):
And then we're all veterans of the drive through. How
many times have you gotten some error in your order
when you all went up the bag.
Speaker 4 (01:08:02):
This is the first time in a while I've had.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
An air and it's happened to all of them.
Speaker 4 (01:08:06):
I sink the last time I.
Speaker 10 (01:08:07):
Have ever gone back. I'm not gonna I've around, I'm
gone back.
Speaker 2 (01:08:12):
I've gotten somebody's complete order, somebody if someone gave me
an extra I got an extra order from someone else
at Taco Bell one time.
Speaker 9 (01:08:20):
But I think the last time I had a serious
error was at Wendy's. I was getting their breakfast burrito
and a there was no sausage in it, so it
was just egg and the and the you know, because
There's burritos are usually like sausage, sausage, eggs and potatoes.
They gave me one with no sausage, and instead of
the breakfast potatoes, it was French fries.
Speaker 4 (01:08:42):
Eh.
Speaker 2 (01:08:42):
Yeah, Well I had a similar d I did a
like a I mean this Wendy's, this Wedndy's. They like
summing stuff in I did it. I had an all
night McDonald's one time. This has got to be twelve
thirty in the morning something like that. Was driving back
from La to San Diego and I ordered, like a
U I've started like a quarter pound of with cheese meal,
you know, you know small, you know that type of thing.
Speaker 3 (01:09:05):
I opened my back as it was heavy.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
Two giant fries, no burger, hell to giant fries.
Speaker 4 (01:09:14):
Hey, Like, what happened here? Guy, Chris? Have you ever
seen the clip and the guy and the guy mad
that the guy asked for extra sauce on the big
night when you put it in another container and he's like,
you want the extra sauce. That's sauce. It doesn't matter
if it's in the sky. You want sauce.
Speaker 3 (01:09:34):
Oh, but when you're in a drive row, you don't.
Speaker 2 (01:09:38):
Do the special order. I like, you know, in and
out they want specifics, right. But I mean for most
of these places, if you're and you start rambling, well
can you lie down this right, they will just say
you take it away time, take it.
Speaker 4 (01:09:52):
The way that they give it. They've made a thousand
of them burgers that day, bro, So they're in, they're
in like a rhythm, and all of a sudden, you
don't want up and muster, you want Max saut Well,
your quarter pounders, so it tastes like the burger spot
down the.
Speaker 9 (01:10:04):
Sho know, I have a special place of hatred in
my heart for people who go to Jersey Mikes. Those
lines are so long now, Yeah, what orders anything besides
Mike's way? When you're like, no, I want mustard, I want.
Speaker 2 (01:10:16):
Pick, no, stop stock, and invariably it's the person directly
in front of you. It's like it's always the person
right in front of you that has all these the night.
All right, great stuff, another edition of Perfect Picks already.
I wanted to make sure I said it right. Perfect
Picks perfect like the Eiffel Tower. You know, the originator
(01:10:39):
gets credit with the name. All right, let's find out
what is trending right now? So manci if you don't
know this, folks on Sundays she makes a taco bell
run for all.
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
Of us, and I got I gotta contribute. At some point,
I'm gonna have to hand you out big, big punk
of cash. SOO, But anyway, have you ever got in
the wrong order?
Speaker 8 (01:11:02):
Yes, wrong, or something's missing or yes all of the above.
Not every time, but it's happened.
Speaker 4 (01:11:09):
You know who never messes up?
Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
Chick fil A never mess up, you know, on point.
It's not like they're on point, but it's usual. Yeah,
there's a little more scrutiny, you know in there. Well,
it's like in and out. You never mess up.
Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
They never mess up in and out. Never.
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
Never you wanted a specific way, you're going to get
exactly what you have.
Speaker 8 (01:11:30):
I'm sure they've messed up, but I hear what you're
saying about. I'm sure they've messed up.
Speaker 3 (01:11:34):
And I hear what you're saying. If somebody ever had
a ride room messed up order in and out, I
want to hear it.
Speaker 4 (01:11:40):
Right, I'm about to say, if Chick fil A is
ever messed up, tweet us.
Speaker 7 (01:11:43):
Yeah, right, exactly, exactly, all right, let's check it. On baseball,
fella's a lot of games going on the We'll starting
in New York with the Mets still up on the Rockies,
but the Rockies did cut their deficit to one.
Speaker 8 (01:11:55):
New York is up forty three. Bottom of the eighth inning.
About to start in New York. The Rwers have taken
the lead from the Phillies. It's four to two. They're
about to start the eighth inning in Philadelphia. Rangers have
added a lot more runs. They are now topping the
Cardinals eight one top of the ninth inning. In Texas,
Red Sox still holding on to that three to one
lead over the Braves that is the top of the
ninth inning. In Atlanta, White Sox on the scoreboard, but
(01:12:17):
the Orioles are still up three to two top of
the eighth. In Baltimore, the Ads are edging the Blue
Jays three to two top of the seventh. All Guardians
so far against the Angels, it's four zero top of
the seventh inning. Giants are on top of the Marlins
in Miami four to one bottom of the seventh as well,
while the Tigers are edging the Royals one zero bottom
of the sixth inning, and the Astros are edging the
(01:12:37):
Rays one zero top of the sixth inning, with the
Cubs shutting out the Reds four zero bottom of the
fifth inning. Scottie Scheffler at the final round of the
Memorials still in the lead at eight under part which
is how he started. He is even threw six holes
in this final round. Ben Griffin is one shot back.
Scepstraca is now three shots back along with Nick Taylor,
(01:12:58):
one WNBA Gole one W NBA game going on right now,
Liberty all over the Sun, fifty to twenty two with
two minutes to go in the second quarter. And at
the French Open, Carlos outcraz will be facing Tommy Paul
in the quarterfinals. Francis Tioffo also one of his Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:13:16):
Yes, two Americans in the.
Speaker 8 (01:13:18):
Quarter exactly, but Francisiofo does not have his matchup yet
for the quarterfinals. But two American men for the first
time since two thousand and three in the quarter finals,
Tommy Paul has to face Carlos al Krazo.
Speaker 4 (01:13:29):
It's going to be.
Speaker 8 (01:13:30):
That's gonna be. That's all.
Speaker 3 (01:13:31):
That's okay, I mean quarters, Yeah, good, Thanks to you guys.
All right, a.
Speaker 4 (01:13:37):
Shot, man, come on, let's not says the shot.
Speaker 7 (01:13:40):
It's been a little a little realisticitch.
Speaker 4 (01:13:45):
I know, I need to see.
Speaker 8 (01:13:50):
Stupid.
Speaker 4 (01:13:51):
He's stupid the doll.
Speaker 3 (01:13:52):
It's not exactly. He's the next the doll.
Speaker 2 (01:13:54):
And there were spandards before and the dolls. They love
the clay. All right, thank you very much much. Want

Speaker 3 (01:14:20):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Coming up on the other side, we got NFL to
get to finally get to get some NFL the OTA's
going on right now. What are the biggest stories that
we need to get to you will find out. This
is Fox Sports Sunday, Steve Harbin, Bja Husky. Here, Fox
Sports Sunday. We're in the Fox Sports Radio studios. All right,
we have NFL news involving wide receivers.
Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
All right, let's start.
Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
With a wild rumor that is simply that the Tyreek
Kill is potentially on the trading block by the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (01:15:00):
It was a weird year.
Speaker 8 (01:15:01):
To me.
Speaker 2 (01:15:01):
One of the most unexplained happenings of what transpired in
twenty twenty four was the lack of production from Tyreek Hill. Now,
I know his quarterback was down, but he had never
not made the Pro Bowl.
Speaker 3 (01:15:17):
I mean, he was eight for eight and this guy's
a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
Back to back seventeen hundred yard plus seasons with the Dolphins,
didn't even get to one thousand yards a year ago
despite starting all seventeen games, averaged less than twelve yards
of catch, and he had just five touchdowns.
Speaker 3 (01:15:33):
In other words, the Tyreek Hill that we had seen
for the.
Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
Previous eight years disappeared in twenty twenty four. Now technically
he could be traded, Realistically he can't because of the
size of his contract. I mean at twenty eight million,
I mean, no one's going to take that on from
the wide receiver spot. I ask you this though about
Tyreek Hill. He's passed that age now thirty, heading into
(01:15:59):
his tenth year in the NFL. Like I said, this
guy's already got a ticket punch for the Hall of Fame.
But we see these receivers, they go off the cliff,
just like quarterbacks do.
Speaker 3 (01:16:10):
Has Tyreek Hill gone off the cliff?
Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
Are we ever gonna see anywhere near the production we've
seen in the past with Tyreek Hill?
Speaker 4 (01:16:16):
Yeah, you're gonna see it this upcoming season. If oos
is there. I mean, you talk about his quarterback not
being there, and the whole back end of the story
is not only was his quarterback not there, he had
to play with three different guys. We got three different
guys taking a snap.
Speaker 3 (01:16:29):
Well, then he did that a couple of years ago.
Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
Everything only for three games, though there was only three
games that Oos was out that year. Oosmiss seven games.
Last year he was out for eight weeks. And there
was a time when the Dolph they couldn't score more
than sixteen points. They couldn't move the ball, these quarterbacks.
And I told you this, We said, it's doing courcial break.
We have the worst backup room in the league. In
my opinion, it's the worst backup room. Everybody knows how
(01:16:51):
Phil about Zach Wilson, I felt that way about it
was that BYU during his little COVID year when everybody
wanted to put that film, and I said, okay, fine,
put on the two thousand and nineteen film Guys, where
he had to play a full season and play real
rosters and play a real college football season. And that's
the film I would golf, not the twenty twenty film
that ended up being in a ball game against Coastal Carolina,
(01:17:12):
And most listeners can't name someone from Coast to Carolina,
like that's the defense he was going to get it
in that game. He couldn't move to football, so it
took one across his body Pro day throw to make
everybody go googly. I was like, we do with the
Pro Days, but no, I think it's back this year.
It's all gonna be on Who's he's down in Weig.
There's something else I told you too that I like
to hear from grown men sometimes that are pro athletes.
(01:17:32):
When you got a little adversity in your life man personally,
a lot of times what you do is you lock
into work right, work as an escape. It really is
when you got some things, it's all out there. Everybody knows.
He said it the other day press conference, going through
a divorce in therapy. He just looks locked in. Last year,
it looked a little weird for me. And I watch
everything Dolphins, guys, because it's my team. I watch every SNAPA,
watch every press conference. I go to YouTube. I watch
(01:17:54):
all the pressers with the players say with the coaches saying.
I'm a Dolphin fan, so I make sure I keep
up the breast on everything. It looks like the Tyreek
from lad two years ago. In the year before that
was just the focus in his face, the way he's
talking last year felt like that he was smelling himself
a little bit. It did, And sometimes in life you
need a little humble pie, and I think he got
some humble pie knowing all right, Without Oos, I'm nothing
(01:18:16):
like I can't. I can't. I'm not even a thousand
yard receiver. If we don't have this offense clicking the
way it needs to click. I do think that that
comes back. I think they'll lean more in a running game.
Two years ago, the no more rushing team in the league,
Mike McDaniel made his bones as a coach being the
run coordinator for the Washington Redskins and for excuse me,
the Redskins when they were the Redskins but now the Commanders,
and for the forty nine ers he was on the
(01:18:37):
Shanahan he was the run game coordinator. So they running
game looked like right, Deebo Samuel Stars are running back
right exactly a few other guys there too. So I
think they get back the running the year ball you
and I think this is a big year for h
and I think that all helped Tyree listen. If OOS
plays fourteen games, Tyreek's fifteen hundred yard receiver man ten
to plus touchdowns that's that's just what he's gonna do.
(01:18:58):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:18:58):
We're coming up to the top of the hour here,
so I want to sort of carry a little.
Speaker 3 (01:19:02):
Of this over on the other side. But a quick
read on Stephan Diggs.
Speaker 2 (01:19:06):
We're gonna get a little more in depth on the
situation of the Patriots. But if I mean, there's all
kinds of rumors right now, because you know it failed
to show up for OTAs if he were to be
released by the Patriots, what kind of market do you
think there is for Stephan Diggs? I'm with you, like, like,
(01:19:26):
why why would you bring up and we were talking
about this off air.
Speaker 3 (01:19:30):
I mean, did the Bills miss him a year ago?
Speaker 4 (01:19:32):
Nope?
Speaker 3 (01:19:33):
Have the Vikings missed him since he left?
Speaker 4 (01:19:35):
Nope?
Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Okay, so Stephan Diggs is one of those guys, And look, God,
that's fine.
Speaker 3 (01:19:39):
You want to you want to believe how great you are.
Speaker 2 (01:19:41):
And it's not that he hasn't had an outstanding NFL career,
obviously he has. But the idea that I'm somehow untouchable
or I can walk to my own beat, I don't
have to answer to anybody at this point in your career,
tex Me be in for a very rude awakening.
Speaker 4 (01:19:58):
Remember to Texas reworked this deal up to the trade
to guarantee him that money because they knew he was
a one year rental.
Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
All right, why are OTAs necessary?
Speaker 3 (01:20:06):
We'll talk about it. This is Fox Sports Sunday. Oh,
once again, we are just.
Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
Having a tremendous time here on a fabulous sports Sunday.
Speaker 3 (01:20:14):
This is Fox Sports.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
Sunday, and we are live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
Our dear friend JP Morosi, Jump Paul, it's gonna be
joining us coming up here in about twenty minutes.
Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
So much to talk about, so little time.
Speaker 2 (01:20:29):
NBA Finals don't start till Thursday, so we just put
off on that. In fact, it's so crazy that one
week from today we'll be sitting here previewing Game.
Speaker 4 (01:20:41):
Two, Game two, Game two. Hey, Chris take it over under?
How many times that he mentions the finals are on
Thursdays for today's show.
Speaker 3 (01:20:48):
Yeah, well, I've already whatever it is.
Speaker 4 (01:20:50):
I'm already over, already over.
Speaker 5 (01:20:52):
I know.
Speaker 4 (01:20:52):
No, I'm just say even from this point right now
at one o two Pacific time, I put it in
two and a half cause we got JP coming on,
so we know there's gonna be one.
Speaker 2 (01:21:00):
Well, I'm gonna remind everyone because they're like, so one
in the NBA Finals start, that's I'm not I'm like
here to.
Speaker 3 (01:21:05):
Tell you what time it is.
Speaker 4 (01:21:06):
I will say two after.
Speaker 3 (01:21:08):
The hour, how about that?
Speaker 2 (01:21:09):
But yeah, we will actually be sitting here pre d
two two of the NBA Finals, which is absolutely crazy
to me. I have a quick story to share here
about OTAs.
Speaker 3 (01:21:23):
So this is back in the day when I was
in the San Diego area.
Speaker 2 (01:21:27):
We are the flagship station of the Chargers and Bobby Bethard,
the Hall of Famer, was the general manager of the
Chargers at the time, and this.
Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
Is a pretty good run mid nineties. Remember they did
get to a super.
Speaker 4 (01:21:36):
Bowl during that run, absolutely and Bobby Ross was one
of my favorite people.
Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
I mean when he came aboard they got to the
playoffs first time in ten years. I just loved his demeanor.
We had two interviews each week with Coach Ross. We
love the guy.
Speaker 3 (01:21:51):
So anyway, they had.
Speaker 2 (01:21:52):
OTAs happening and one guy that did not show up
was Junior.
Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
Say so, Junior the best player on the team and
leader on that team.
Speaker 2 (01:22:04):
And so my partner and I were down at Charger
practice and Bobby Bether sees us. He knows who we are,
and he did something he had never done before. He goes, hey,
Steve Billy, Billy, weren't out my partner. He goes, hey,
join me down here, let's watch a little football together.
We're like, what, like if there's other media people, but
(01:22:25):
you know, we have the radio show. So we're on
the field like during the practice, you know, and he's
talking about this and watch.
Speaker 3 (01:22:32):
This guy and all this kind of stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:22:34):
And it was so out of left fields, like why
are we doing this?
Speaker 3 (01:22:39):
And then he starts springing up Junior sound.
Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
He goes, yeah, you know, I'm a little disappointed, you know,
like Junior should be here. He's one of the leaders
of this team, you know. And so immediately we went
back to do our radio show, because we actually did
the show after we out on the practice field.
Speaker 3 (01:22:54):
So we're calling out Junior, like, you know, we're out on.
Speaker 2 (01:22:57):
The field, right and we really, you know, I think
it's I think he needs to be you know, because
you are a leader on this team.
Speaker 3 (01:23:05):
Well, as it turned out, guess who's showing up the
next day? Junior sayout.
Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
So we go out to practice and you know, again,
we had the run of the place the day before.
So we start walking on the field. The PR guy goes,
where are you going? You think you got it? Said, yeah,
you got it. He goes, no, you guys served your purpose.
You went on your radio show, called out Junior. He
showed up. Get back to where you used us, used us.
(01:23:32):
But it did bought him a good point though, And
you mentioned it briefly earlier about OTAs that obviously if
you got a new quarterback, new coach, new system, rookie players,
all these guys, you know, it is voluntary. Uh, the
players Association deems as such. But you need your leaders
out there. And this is why we we talked about
(01:23:54):
quarterbacks and you know everything else. But uh, yeah, that
was a prime example of getting you used by a
general manager smartly because he really sold us on it.
Uh And Junior Sale did show up and he should be.
And that's that's why these OTAs. You know, you don't
want to get people hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:24:11):
You know, this non contact, that's not that kind of thing.
It's just sort of bringing everybody together because you remember,
you're gonna have over a month off where everyone's gone
their own way during the summer before you start training camp,
start everything, all right?
Speaker 2 (01:24:25):
So you got mini camps, got OTAs you know, and
it's just more of a little just.
Speaker 3 (01:24:29):
A little bonding. Hello.
Speaker 4 (01:24:30):
Hello, Lottery, Yeah, rittery and consistency, man and two favorite
C words in football.
Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
I'm already That starts with team leaders.
Speaker 4 (01:24:37):
I believe two type of people should show up for everything.
Two type of people in the NFL should show up
for everything if you were deemed a leader, and anybody
else who is new, as my illustrious co host to
my left just said, so that means all rookies. I
don't care what else you got going on travers. Hunter
was there and they got married next week. He could
(01:24:59):
easy planned it during it, but no, he's smart enough
to know, babe, I got OTA's right here. We'll get
married the following week, going our honeymoon. But guess what
when that mini cam starts in June, you are now
an NFL wife. I'll see you in February.
Speaker 3 (01:25:12):
I can't wait to see this.
Speaker 4 (01:25:13):
I'll see absolutely, I'll see you in Basically, i'll see
you in January.
Speaker 3 (01:25:17):
Honey Jackson Business follows up with their promise.
Speaker 4 (01:25:19):
I listen, I'll they're giving you because I want to
what he's going He's gonna play both ways. But also
to free agents. If you just signed with a team,
don't you think you should be there? Like learning the system,
learning your quarterback, learning this learning, just learning where to drive,
where to sleep with eateies, where to clothes, like where
the dry cleaners are, like just learning everything that is
(01:25:42):
going to help you in the regular season. I coach
high school football in Birmingham. I tell the kids all
the time, we just broke our spring practice. We have
two weeks off. We're back June ninth. And this is
high school guys. We started our summer practice June ninth.
Our first game is not till August twenty second. Steve
start that Monday. And I tell the kids, you don't
(01:26:02):
get better in October and November. You get better in March, April, May, June,
and July. So on fourth and two down at Norabahd,
down six with a minut and a half left, what
you did that game is not going what's gonna get
you those two yards? It's what you did in March
and April and June. How much waste did you live?
(01:26:23):
How many times did you show up to practice on time?
How many times did you get with your teammates and
learn more about the play but talk about skis, Hey,
if the corner does this, so, if the linebacker does
this or that. Stuff you do during this time for
players to feel like, you know, even a Miles Garrett,
I get Bro, you're the leader. That's why you could
have played this Japan trip some other time. You knew
(01:26:43):
when these OTAs were, you got a guy like your
door coming in and everybody wants to scrutinize this kid.
You're the leader. You probably should have showed up, and
it just gave you the biggest non quarterback contract. You
could have just planned this, you know, just Japan vacation
another time, you plan knowing this one the OCAs were.
I just frowned on that because I like camaraderie. I
(01:27:04):
think it's the most important thing. And that's why the
Patriots were a dynasty, the Cowboys were a dynasty, the
Niners were a dynasty. What all those guys talk about,
Steve when they're gone from the game, what do they
miss the most?
Speaker 2 (01:27:13):
Steve camaraderie, carderie of the guys, camaraderie.
Speaker 4 (01:27:16):
They've said it, so I'm not just pulling it out
of a hat. Ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 2 (01:27:20):
I don't like to use the military term of like
going to war with guys, but I mean essentially you are.
I mean, you know, if a warrior battle, whatever term,
you got to have my back and everything. It is
every down that was that That's my biggest takeaway working
for a team as I did. It's seeing these guys
at day in and day out in the locker room,
(01:27:41):
in the locker room and seeing these legends and embracing
young guys and teaching them the ways, and and and
then the course of the season, how a team will
just come together.
Speaker 3 (01:27:51):
You know, one battle after another, week after week.
Speaker 4 (01:27:53):
What do you think those veterans in New England think
right now? What do you think that young quarterback that
good that just got drafted thinks right now?
Speaker 2 (01:27:59):
Well, and like you said, I think we're on the
same page as far as Stefan Diggs.
Speaker 3 (01:28:03):
What are you doing? We need a year now?
Speaker 4 (01:28:06):
You're a video right like we see what you're doing.
Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
Yeah, Like that's a guy that's already checked out. That's
the way I look at that. By the way, I
was reminded again because Aaron Rodgers and until he makes
a final decision at some point it's got.
Speaker 3 (01:28:19):
You know, either one way or the other. But I
was reminded of this.
Speaker 2 (01:28:23):
So Brett Farr was traded to the Jets, played out
his deal, he goes to the Vikings. He did not
sign with the Vikings until August eighteenth. Oh yeah, he didn't,
and then went on to have one of the best
seasons of his career, came within a bad pass, bad
decision at the end of the game to get the
Vikings into the Super Bowl. Do you think do you
(01:28:45):
think Aaron Rodgers thinks, well, if Brett Farv could do that, now,
Brett Faarr was almost forty when.
Speaker 4 (01:28:50):
He did that, Yes, I do think he takets that.
Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
He's like, well, if Brett Farr can wait until August
eighteenth actually sign with the team, why can't I do it?
Speaker 4 (01:29:01):
As Adrian Peterson are running back on any of the teams,
He's going to sign on because that show did.
Speaker 2 (01:29:05):
Help brettan barb ran a phenomenally year that he did,
but Peters corson next year his arm fell off and
that was.
Speaker 3 (01:29:10):
The end of the career.
Speaker 4 (01:29:11):
Right in that one year. He put it all in
that one.
Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
Year, but he did not sign with the Vikings until
literally what three weeks before the season began.
Speaker 4 (01:29:19):
And it's not a recipe that I would pass on
to any youngster to do or any other.
Speaker 2 (01:29:22):
Well, but if you're the Steelers, which you know they're
still holding out Hope for some reason said that's the
other thing.
Speaker 3 (01:29:30):
If you're if you're sitting in that Steeler locker room
right now, right and the players are talking.
Speaker 2 (01:29:35):
Obviously you've got Mason Rudolph who's there. He actually played
a few good games down the stretch a couple of
years ago. You got the kid. Obviously you've drafted a quarterback.
So you're like, what do we really need this Aaron
Rodgers guy? And is he just gonna show up in
the middle of training camp and like say, hey, I'm here.
Speaker 4 (01:29:54):
Okay, Does it make you Steve lose a little bit
of respect for to steal it?
Speaker 3 (01:29:58):
Does just Camble? I saw the only one.
Speaker 4 (01:30:01):
No, it's like this franchise right right, they super Bowls?
I mean, what do you do You haven't worried about
a forty year old diva like narcissists? Not all about him?
Speaker 3 (01:30:11):
Sell, Well, you have a while Hall of Fame coach.
Okay had three coaches since nineteen sixty.
Speaker 4 (01:30:16):
Nine, right, right?
Speaker 2 (01:30:18):
And why are you putting yourself through this? Yeah, and
you're not listen and Brett for what I mean bread,
maybe he has when you say Brett, maybe he does
come in and have a year.
Speaker 3 (01:30:28):
But you're not building your future on rot.
Speaker 4 (01:30:30):
They don't have the weapons there, they don't have the
Jimmies and Joe's. They're like that Viking. That Vikings team
was literally a quarter back away to be a contender.
And like Steve said, they get to the conference championship game,
Brett throws across his body trying to make him play
lay in the game, Saints pick it off and then
the Saints going end up having a Porter pick six
against Manning in the Super Bowl to get Champagne and
(01:30:51):
Drew Brees that championship. But if you add Aaron Rodgers,
we could take a poll. If you add Aaron Rodgers
to the Steelers, are they all of a sudden AFC
Championship gameer Super Bowl contenders? Absolutely not. The AFC is
loaded this year. Well, that division right alone? Is that
division here, you're the third best team and then who knows,
(01:31:14):
we don't know what, no exactly, we have no idea
what Cleve is gonna be. But I can tell you
what Baltimore is gonna be. I can tell you what
Cincinnati's gonna be. They're both gonna be twelve win teams. Well,
Cincinnati will see if.
Speaker 2 (01:31:24):
The defense, well they got they gotta get some yah,
gotta get some defense.
Speaker 4 (01:31:27):
But we know what Baltimore is gonna be. We know
what the Chargers are gonna be. We know what the
Bills are gonna be. We know what the Chiefs are
gonna be. The AFC is not to be played with.
So if you're if you're the Steelers, you're telling me,
if you add Aaron Rodgers, you all of a sudden know. Man.
It just makes me look at this franchise like you
guys are playing like the desperate homecoming guy, Like you're
just waiting and waiting for that girl to say she'll
(01:31:50):
go with you, and she's gonna wait until seven thirty
of the night of homecoming to make her decision because
she's testing out all the other guys. You're the last option.
And that would make me look at my boy and go, hey, man, bro,
do you make yourself look bad if she hasn't chosen
you yet? For Homecoming Day. Just go do something else.
Speaker 3 (01:32:09):
I agree.
Speaker 2 (01:32:09):
I think they got to be talking about it right
now on those OTAs in Pittsburgh.
Speaker 3 (01:32:13):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:32:13):
On the other side, we're gonna be talking about a
rematch in the Stanley Cup Final.
Speaker 3 (01:32:18):
All right, we're gonna be talking some Major League Baseball.
This Otawny Judge thing is just off the charts. John
Palmer ROSSI will join us.
Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
This is Fox Sports Sunday, Hartman and Husky Fox Sports.
Speaker 3 (01:32:32):
Sunday once again here in our.
Speaker 2 (01:32:34):
Fox Sports Radio studios. Well, it is certainly a tree
for us. I'm sure it is for you as well.
To be joined by one of the most versatile people
in our industry. Doesn't matter what we talk about. He's
got an opinion, educated opinion. We're talking about the one,
the only, our Fox Sports Radio MLB analyst, the great
John Palm Morosi, JP, thanks for joining us here on
(01:32:57):
this first day at June already it's like June first.
Speaker 3 (01:33:01):
We had a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
Things to cover, but I want to get right to it,
starting with the Stanley Cuff Final. So it's the NBA Finals,
but it's the Stanley Cuff Final. On rematch, a rematch.
I know this for many years. It's a rematch from
a year ago. I guess the question is can Edmonton
get their revenge and become the first Canadian based team
(01:33:23):
to win the Stanley Cuff since the Canadians way back
in nineteen ninety three.
Speaker 6 (01:33:27):
I believe they can. I believe they will. And a
couple things to me stand out. Number One, on the
back end, we saw Evan Bouchard have a really good
Western Conference final. I believe he could be a difference
maker for the Oilers in this series. Ryan Nugent Hopkins upfront,
I think is playing at an extraordinarily high level. He's
(01:33:48):
been an Oiler for his entire career. His playmaking ability
is his next level. And Stuart Skinner and goal is
better now than he was a year ago. And of
course I have intentionally not yet mentioned McDavid and dry
because we we just assume they're going to be great,
and they were great last year, they'll be great again.
But it's a supporting cast that I see as being
(01:34:08):
a little better this year than it was a year ago,
and certainly solving. Butbrovski will not be easy, dealing with
the physicality of Koshok, dealing with Barkoval, that he does.
The Panthers now have Seth Jones, who they didn't have
a year ago. They have Marshand who they didn't have
a year ago, So it's it's probably a better Florida
team too. I just think Edmonton is a more complete roster,
(01:34:31):
playing closer to their potential. Yes, they're good. They're gonna
miss Zach Hyman. That's a huge loss, but in general,
I like Edmonton's chances, and then we know they were
the better team for the second half of that series
last year. It just so happened that the Panthers came
back in one game seven. This year, I believe it
is the year for Edmonton, the year for Canada, and
I'm expecting it to be another great classic Stanley Cup final.
Speaker 4 (01:34:54):
My man J. P. Morosi was going on by the
how's Mama Morosi doing? J?
Speaker 6 (01:35:00):
And I got to tell you this. I've been thinking
about this conversation for a while in saying, how am
I going to give VJ some some positivity about the Rangers?
And it's been a bit of a struggle. My friend.
I'm trying to help you out here, but I don't
have a whole lot of positivity to latch onto right now, Rangers.
Speaker 4 (01:35:17):
And that's why I don't have a Ranger's question, because
I saw my name big game Nate went on the
IL and I'm just like, okay, listen, I don't even
want to talk then today. I want to stick with
championship type stuff. You gotta Stanley Cup champion. I want
to ask you about these NBA finals. Steve thinks this
is a wipe. Most people do tell me if I'm crazy,
if I'm thinking this can be a six or seven
(01:35:37):
game series when you're looking into you talking about the
number two, offense number one and field goal percentage number
five and blocks thirteenth. In defense, we already know what
OKC is, but this team can throw a lot of
guys at SGA on the perimeter to defend him. They
have them hard. You got Haller Burdon that can defend him.
You know, isn't a great defender. But then you also
have guys like Shepherd, you have Mathern. They got bodies.
(01:36:00):
They can throw it as get I don't think they
can stop him, but just to kind of get in
his way. Are you on Steve side of this as
a wipe or do I got something that this thing
can be a six or seven game series.
Speaker 6 (01:36:12):
It can absolutely be a six or a seven game series.
I think it's important to remember the quality. I know
it didn't look that way at the very end, but
the quality of the Knicks throughout this postseason and the
next top of the team that people were giving them
no chance to beat in Boston, and then the Pacers
turn around and beat the Knicks. So I think that
(01:36:35):
we're we're going a little bit too far into the
regular season track record if we're saying that this is okay. See,
without a doubt, Sga is phenomenal. We know that. I
think you look at the clinching game last night, how
great Siakam played. He was phenomenal. Haliburton is an emerging
(01:36:55):
legend of the game right now. I think the way
that he is playing right now, he certainly calling Reggie
Miller and all all the greats of the Pacers, and
and I love that these are two franchises that we
don't necessarily think of as being the gold standard teams
in the history of the league. It's it's newer teams.
If you're a more casual fan, I would say the Pacers,
(01:37:16):
of course, have never won the NBA Finals that's a
nice fresh story o case. He has won it, of
course once before. But I I like, I like this matchup,
and I listen, I love SGA as well. But I
think the way that the Siakam closed out that series
and Haliburton he out Brunson Brunson in in that in
that series, right, And I just I think that he, uh,
(01:37:37):
he gives this team a legitimate chance. It's hard to
win in Indianapolis with the way the crowd is there
and in the atmosphere. I think that he And then again,
Carlisle is a great coach you're going up against, been
there so many different times. I I trust Rick Carlisle
in a spot like this. So I think it's going
to be at least a six game series. I'm hoping
it's a classic.
Speaker 2 (01:37:57):
All right, Well, I'm going to say to you when
I said Earl to Vja, I hope you're right, but
I think you're wrong. I got this OKAC team I
think is going to be one for the ages.
Speaker 3 (01:38:07):
All right, let's get back to baseball. So yesterday was
Dave Roberts' birthday. I know this because it's was also
my younger son's birthday, and the Dodgers, like, so, what
can we do for the skip?
Speaker 2 (01:38:18):
I don't know, how about an eighteen to two blowout
against the Yankees, But let's put that aside and just
talk about Aaron Judge and show Hey Otani. I mean,
the first game on Friday, Judge hits a four hundred
and fifty foot bomb to dead center, and then Otani
first pitch in the bottom of the first matches that
(01:38:38):
home run. I love the historical perspective that you and
I share on all this, but I want to hear
your side of it. When we're watching Aaron Judge and
show Hey Otani in real time what we're watching right
now put some perspective in terms of what baseball fans
are being treated to.
Speaker 6 (01:38:57):
Well, Steve, I'll put it to you this way. I
can't think in my career of covering Major League Baseball
of a regular season series that featured two not just
generational talents, but all time talents playing for iconic franchises
(01:39:18):
of this caliber and at the absolute peak of their powers,
all at the same time. And we just got done
talking about NBA Finals, and we're used to the NBA
Finals boiling down to two players because you know that
whether it's Burden magic or at different times in the
(01:39:39):
history of the game, Kobe others that they're going to
have the ball in their hands basically half the time,
in terms of half the possessions. At least, they're gonna
get a chance to take a ton of shots, and
there's gonna be a real rhythm of two players. It's
so different in baseball. You only bat one out of
nine times, and so the odds of great player performing
(01:40:01):
at their best simultaneously on a stage like this Dodger
Stadium with the Yankees and Dodgers World Series rematch all
that context, it just doesn't happen this easily in this sport,
and they're making it look like this is routine and
it's not. And so my advice to everybody who's a
(01:40:22):
sports fan, whether you love baseball or not, try to
pause watch the game tonight. We don't have hockey going
on tonight, we don't have basketball going on tonight. The
NFL Draft is long gone. Focus on this moment in
time seeing these two teams play at the most beautiful
stadium in our country in my opinion, and watch what
(01:40:44):
they're doing. And of course the Dodgers have other stars
The Yankees have other stars, but Judge at Otani are
the draws, and we are I really think we are
being treated to all time seasons by all time players.
Judge is by many metrics, a better all around player
now than when he hit sixty two homers. Is that great?
(01:41:05):
He's that great, I mean, and they're both they're both
great citizens of the game as well. So I just
I cannot wait to see the way that's unfolds tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:41:13):
I just got to read his line right now, Aaron
Judge is hitting three ninety eight, four ninety on base percentage,
seven seventy eight slugging percentage. That's an ops of twelve
sixty eight, leads the majors in all four Yeah, these
are I mean again, these are Ruthian numbers. Ted Williams
(01:41:34):
like numbers, Barry Bonds on ped numbers. That's what we're
looking at right now. And by the way, while that's
going on, Shohei Otani is on pace to possibly break
the record for most runs scored in a season, held
by Babe Ruth back in nineteen twenty one.
Speaker 3 (01:41:52):
Wow, crazyness.
Speaker 6 (01:41:54):
That's and that's where it's important too to bring in
when you're talking about the historical comparison. It's not just
the raw numbers, but that's where the If you look
at baseball reference dot com, which most serious baseball fans
love it, it's it's a great place to go for insight.
The thing about the judge numbers that stands out to
(01:42:15):
me is it's the OPS plus. Now OPS plus means
it's it's adjusted for the league run scoring environment and
for what other hitters are doing in the same ballparks
in the same year he has correct it gives you
a historical comparison. So in twenty twenty two, when he
(01:42:37):
hit sixty two homers, his ops plus was two ten,
which means he was one hundred and ten percent better,
because it's one hundred and ten beyond one hundred to ten,
one hundred ten percent better than the average hitter in
the league.
Speaker 8 (01:42:51):
At that time.
Speaker 6 (01:42:52):
Right now, to your point, Steve, he's at two fifty three.
He is he is forty percentage points better than he
was when he set the record. It's just unbelievable what
he's doing right now, and he's slugging seven seventy eight.
These are things that just do not happen. And I'm
I'm thrilled that I get a chance to be able
(01:43:13):
to cover his games on a regular.
Speaker 4 (01:43:15):
Basis Fox Sports Sunday, where Hartman and Husky we have
in the great JP morosely R Fox Sports Radio, MLB
analysts and really analysts of everything else. So I want
to just throw a simple question at you, JP, with
everything that you know, what everything that you've seen over
his career, and what we just saw, what happened this
past weekend in the way Abel had to address this,
(01:43:39):
what would you do with Stefan Diggs?
Speaker 6 (01:43:45):
What would I do? I would have to really give
this some thought. Here, Okay, here we go. I'm going
to have to pass on this because I'll just I'll
say this. I realized there's a lot of conversation about
him being cut. I feel as though this is the
one thing VJ that I do not have enough specific
(01:44:06):
on the ground reporting information to render to render a
specific opinion beyond beyond to say that it is a
U I understand it's a pretty hot button issue, but
I would have to educate myself further on this before
I gave my firm Morosi endorsed opinion.
Speaker 3 (01:44:22):
There it is, that is an honest answer right there,
all right.
Speaker 2 (01:44:25):
So bottom line, Connor McDavid will finally add Stanley Cup
champion to his resume.
Speaker 6 (01:44:31):
Yes, I got McDavid winning the Cup and I got
the Pacers winning the NBA Final game.
Speaker 3 (01:44:41):
I'll put it this way. Are you rolling tape on that?
All right?
Speaker 2 (01:44:45):
So John Paul Morosi is actually picking the Pacers to
win the NBA. If that happens, I may not be
able to talk to you again. I will be bowied
so hard at your feet. I will never be able
to speak.
Speaker 4 (01:44:57):
To you again.
Speaker 6 (01:44:58):
I was. I was in New yor or covering covering
baseball the week that game one of the Knicks Celtics
series happened, and w f A N our colleague at
w f A N could not find a single caller
in the entire Tri state area to call up and
say the Knicks even had a chance to win that series.
(01:45:22):
And then they went out there and won the series decisively.
I really there was an injury in there. I get that,
But but you guys have some faith here. The Paces
have made it to the finals. I mean, there's there's
a there's a lot to like about that team. And
believe me, I have I have gone down and looked
at that draft and said to myself, how did the
Pistons not draft Halliburton when they had the chance?
Speaker 3 (01:45:43):
Yeah, I guess be well, I'll tell you what we
we how about this both of us here you said,
we'll take Cunningham over Ant right now. We are building
a franchise right.
Speaker 4 (01:45:55):
Now, right, and so we will we would.
Speaker 2 (01:45:58):
Take and then no, not knock against. And but we
just think that the leadership qualities that Cunningham has already
shown to turn this franchise around in one year speaks
volumes about where the Pistons are going in the near.
Speaker 6 (01:46:09):
Future, right, And so that's where you I mean again,
it's hard for me to even think about it, but
to the notion of having because it was separate drafts
Cunningham and Albert, and you could add them both theoretically
now and now again if you'd add I'm trying to
think of the chronology of it all. If you had
had Haliburton first, would you have been bad enough to
think of cunning.
Speaker 4 (01:46:26):
Am the next year? Right?
Speaker 6 (01:46:28):
Right? So you got to think about in those terms,
But in general I would show it to see Haliburton
wearing red.
Speaker 3 (01:46:34):
Whit and blue, right now, great stuff? As always, JP,
thanks so much, enjoy your week. We'll talk to you
next week.
Speaker 6 (01:46:38):
Bless you love this conversation. Thank you so much for
all the questions. I love it to this. This conversation
sets my mind for the whole week on things that
I feel strongly about and those that I need to
learn more about. It's like my morning meeting for the week,
and I appreciate it very much.
Speaker 3 (01:46:54):
All Right, there is the great John Paul Morosi.
Speaker 2 (01:46:57):
By the way, you can follow him on ax ed
John Morose j O N M O R O S.
Speaker 4 (01:47:04):
I you call it X. That's good. You still say
Twitter it is X.
Speaker 3 (01:47:08):
It is X. I mean that's the name of it, right.
Speaker 4 (01:47:11):
That's what they say.
Speaker 3 (01:47:12):
I mean you could tweet somebody, but it's X.
Speaker 4 (01:47:15):
Yeah. They also call it crypto dot com a reno,
but I think we still all I know.
Speaker 3 (01:47:19):
Well, that's that's that to me is a difference. That's
a different story.
Speaker 4 (01:47:23):
Twitter. I'm an call them Twitter what find.
Speaker 3 (01:47:26):
Out what it's trendy right now? Not keep her waiting
any longer.
Speaker 8 (01:47:31):
I think if I do Twitter dot com, it takes
me to X. So it does Twitter.
Speaker 3 (01:47:36):
I will honestly still.
Speaker 4 (01:47:39):
Still can you still is still w W Twitter Dot.
Speaker 8 (01:47:43):
Well, once you go to it, it says X. But
if I put Twitter, it goes to it.
Speaker 4 (01:47:47):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (01:47:48):
Well yes, guess who decided that's a good idea. That's
the guy that owns it.
Speaker 3 (01:47:54):
Yeah, that's a good idea.
Speaker 8 (01:47:55):
I was like, was that me.
Speaker 2 (01:47:57):
To know that? I know?
Speaker 8 (01:48:04):
It's something what I do over there? All right, guys,
we'll check in on baseball. A lot of day games,
so not a lot going on in the evening. Right now.
The Diamondbacks are on top of the Nationals three zero.
Ohaniel swat is with the two run shop bottom of
the second inning about to start in Arizona. Cubs have
added some more runs, so now they're topping the Red
seven to two after seven innings. Astros still edging the
(01:48:25):
Rays one zero. They're about to start the ninth inning.
In Houston. The Mets did top the Rockies five to three.
Juan Soto has homeward and back to back games for
the Mets, so maybe get a little of a groove
back here. Colorado is nine and fifty to start the season.
Speaker 3 (01:48:41):
It's crazy nice. I mean they're on pace for one
hundred and thirty plus loss to break the record the
all time. Yeah, in a break all record.
Speaker 8 (01:48:49):
So you know who's real happy about that, the White Sox.
Because the White Sox will only have like the worst
record for so long.
Speaker 3 (01:48:54):
They're gonna lose ten more games than the White Sox last.
Speaker 8 (01:48:57):
Sight, exactly exactly know what one's gonna talk about the
White Sox anymore because of that, So that's good. The
Red Sox didn't beat the Braves three to one. The
Rangers outscored the Cardinals eight to one. The Brewers have
won seven in a row. They outscored the Phillies five
to two. The Guardians had a four to two win
over the Angels, and the Giants did top the Marlins
four to two as well. Scotti Scheffler is still in
the lead eight under par overall. He's even through ten
(01:49:19):
holes in this final round of Blew Memorial and he
is just one shot ahead of Ben Griffin. Nick Taylor
is three shots back, so Scotti Scheffler holding on to
that slight lead. We've talked about this, but at the
French Open, for the first time since two thousand and three,
two American men are headed to the quarter finals. Twelve
seed Tommy Paul He's gonna face two seed, Carlos Outcraz
(01:49:39):
in the quarterfinals, and Francis Tiafo is also headed to
the quarter finals. The Women's College World Series games are
going on. It's an elimination game, but UCLA and Tennessee
are tied at to a piece. It's the top of
the fifth inning.
Speaker 3 (01:49:53):
Come on, elimination game.
Speaker 8 (01:49:56):
Yeah, I thought you'd care about that, and the Liberty
are obviously watching the sun in the WNBA. Ninety five
thirty nine is the score seven minutes left in the
fourth quarter. It was fun.
Speaker 4 (01:50:06):
Guys say that score for me again.
Speaker 8 (01:50:08):
Yeah, ninety five to thirty nine. Uh huh yeah, not
even yeah, I'm not gonna say it, just yeah you guys.
Speaker 3 (01:50:20):
Monzie, thank you very post numbers out. Those are rookie numbers. Yeah, embarrassing.
Speaker 8 (01:50:24):
It might be Ricky's playing.
Speaker 3 (01:50:25):
Yeah all right, well, Montzi, thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (01:50:29):

As you know, I have a certain obsession with sports stats,
and my number one obsession is college football because I
dared go where no one else has gone. You got
Baseball Reference, you got people are oh, you know Sabers,
(01:51:05):
you know exhausted, every box scorer ever known a man.
But college football is such a taunting. It's it's no
one's ever dared to go where I've gone and putting
together statistics of players and legendary players.
Speaker 3 (01:51:19):
So tomorrow is a big day for me.
Speaker 2 (01:51:21):
There's two days that stand out on my calendar, and
that is the day of the National Championship Game in
college football, not because of the game, but because that's
the day they announced the college football class, a Hall
of Fame class that day, and tomorrow at eight am
they will actually release the ballot, the final ballot for
next year's class for the College Football Hall of Fame. Now,
the reason I'm bringing this up is a rule change
(01:51:44):
that was way short of what they should be doing
in terms of qualifying coaches for induction of the College
Football Hall of Fame. So when Mike Leach had his
untimely death, he had a career winning percentage of point
five ninety six. The College Football Hall of Fame to
be eligible, you have to have coach at least ten
years and have a winning percentage of point six to
(01:52:06):
zero zero. You're like, Okay, can't you just round it up?
I mean, you're telling me that a guy that turned
around all these mediocre programs and made him winners is
not eligible for the College Follotball Hall of Fame. So
they lowered the bar down to point five ninety five
to make him eligible in a couple of years. A
couple other coaches you know which is nice you know
is still not eligible for the College Football Hall of Fame.
(01:52:28):
Pete Carroll, one of the winniest coaches in the history
of college football, is not eligible. Why because he only
coached nine years. Here here would be my recommendation to
my friend of the College Football Hall of Fame. Forget
any ideas about prerequisites. Like in other words, you're you're
(01:52:48):
talking about Drew Brees and his record setting career at
Purdue not eligible for the Hall of Fame. Why because
he never made a first team All American team during
his career, and I'm like, come on, I mean, forget
all that. But you know, a Hall of Famer is
a Hall of famer. Howard Schnellenberger, right, who literally built
the U. He's not eligible because you know, we've got
(01:53:12):
some bad teams and he didn't get the six center.
How do you write the history of college football without
Howard Schnellenberger because he was the guy that put it
in place, one of the great dynasties in college football history.
Speaker 3 (01:53:24):
So, I mean, that's to me what it's about. What
kind of impact did you have on the sport? Whether
you're player or coach, doesn't matter the sport. Did you
have an impact? Were you a game changer? Can you
write the history of the sport without mentioning your name? That,
to me is the definition of a Hall of fame.
Speaker 4 (01:53:42):
You can mention well, okay, well, you can write the
history of college football without mentioning Drew Brees's name. Maybe
not the history of the NFL, but the history of
college football.
Speaker 3 (01:53:51):
Drew Brees recordte record, had.
Speaker 4 (01:53:56):
That's what I'm getting to had really one good year, okay,
had one, couldn't be he was he was? He two
years So couldn't be. Couldn't be none of the big guys.
You know he being in the big guys. It's tom
last year. It so was last year when he beat Michigan.
And it takes and it takes, and it takes an
a train fumble for that to happen. I remember the
game very well, A train this the facts takes an
(01:54:20):
a train fumble for that. That had one year where
he really beat everybody, but they just pull up something
where it has I guess all these first year against
Philip Rivers, Jason Witten, Frank Gord, Julian Edelman, Lashawn McCoy.
Speaker 3 (01:54:29):
In the Pro Football Hall of Famy.
Speaker 4 (01:54:31):
Yeah, for you know college football for this.
Speaker 3 (01:54:34):
We're gonna find out the list tomorrow. I mean it's amazing.
I mean, like Chris Winky, uh not in the hall
if you won the Heisman Trophy, shouldn't he be in
the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 4 (01:54:44):
The way?
Speaker 6 (01:54:44):
You know?
Speaker 4 (01:54:45):
No? Really no, no, because you got the Heisman?
Speaker 2 (01:54:48):
What do you think Troy Smith is a college Football
Hall of Famer? Nice Wan Trophy went to have a
high st How about Sam Bradford Oklahoma?
Speaker 4 (01:54:55):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:54:55):
No, no, how about Cam Newton?
Speaker 6 (01:54:57):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:54:58):
When one year one year a National champions one year,
one year.
Speaker 4 (01:55:02):
It's something you o.
Speaker 3 (01:55:03):
It's college you play what four years at the most.
Speaker 4 (01:55:06):
One year doesn't get you into the Hall of Fame.
I'm sorry you're asking me. There says one year, one
year and it was a great year, undefeated, down twenty
one to nothing at Bama, it comes back and wins
that game. Can in the National Championship? I get it.
Speaker 3 (01:55:22):
You can't.
Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
Can you write the history of college football without Cam Newton?
Can you write the college football without Johnny Manziel.
Speaker 4 (01:55:30):
That's an interesting one.
Speaker 3 (01:55:31):
He's eligible right now.
Speaker 4 (01:55:33):
That's an interesting one.
Speaker 3 (01:55:34):
Johnny Man's How about RG three, he's eligible.
Speaker 4 (01:55:36):
Yeah, you can write that. You can write college football
without RG three. They lost three or four games there
he won the heismane ah, they wouldn't done. He wasn't
comedy tough.
Speaker 3 (01:55:44):
All right, yeah, alright, alright, some predictions on the other side.
That's what we do. Get you ready for another big
sports week.
Speaker 2 (01:55:50):
This is Fox Sports Sunday, Harvin and Husky Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 3 (01:55:54):
The conversation never ends.
Speaker 2 (01:55:56):
By the way, what I thank our credited Montsey doing
the as always Chris perfect were perfect picks making its
debut today.
Speaker 11 (01:56:07):
Yes, perfect, the perfect perfet picks, the perfect perfets Yeah,
perfets picks. I love the literation here, perfet picks. Don't
wear it out exactly. Say you're responsible for all this.
You understand that that that's.
Speaker 2 (01:56:24):
As the producer of the show. Everything comes down on you.
Speaker 3 (01:56:27):
Everything.
Speaker 4 (01:56:28):
I really do have to thank you.
Speaker 9 (01:56:29):
I was busy this week and I didn't even get
a request for Ricky, and and Shaye was handling you.
Speaker 2 (01:56:38):
I do it all good, bad and different whatever.
Speaker 4 (01:56:43):
And his name is sha You know what I like,
I like slightly cocky, say man, I do I like
I do, I like like, I like slightly Eric.
Speaker 2 (01:56:53):
He gets so irritated by you.
Speaker 4 (01:56:56):
No, No, here's the thing I talked about. Don't take
yourself up, comes Shane.
Speaker 2 (01:57:02):
How could you be irritated by my obviously smart takes
on everything.
Speaker 4 (01:57:06):
No, Shane, I talked about this. We actually agree on
about ninety eight percent of the stuff, we both say.
Him and I just have a huge hurdle about Lebron. Yeah,
that's it. That's all. The one thing. It's the one,
that one thing that when people see us, when people
see us talking about it, they think that we're really going,
I'm like, bro, it's just Shane. I just get really
(01:57:26):
into this conversation. He just won't ease up off of it,
so you won't either, though, you know what I mean?
Speaker 11 (01:57:32):
Yeah, Well, we love each other exactly man, That's why
we're in this business.
Speaker 3 (01:57:35):
Right, go exactly right?
Speaker 2 (01:57:37):
All right, all right, let's get predictions here on both
the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup Final. All right, okay, So,
by the way, do you prefer finals or final? I
sort of get the Stanley Cup Final because there's only
one final, right. The NBA Finals, I guess, refers to
a multitude of games.
Speaker 3 (01:57:58):
What are you like in final? Or Because it is
Stanley Cup Final and NBA Finals.
Speaker 4 (01:58:03):
They're both okay with me. But I don't say Stanley
Cup Finals. I just like to say, hey man, they're
about the fight final. They're about the fight for Lord Stanley.
That's the Lord Stanley.
Speaker 2 (01:58:14):
Well let's start right there with the Stanley Cup Final,
a rematch we got the Panthers, got the Oilers.
Speaker 3 (01:58:19):
Which way you're going to.
Speaker 4 (01:58:20):
New Orlers and six Man After Connor McDavid. I've had
a chance to cover the Oilers in the playoff series
back to back years it's just such a I mean,
he's the listen, he might be, he might be just
the greatest talent I've ever seen. All nights I know
they was Wayne and these I'm just talking about just
when you watch them, it's like everything just seems so
easy to him and there's nothing he can't do and
there's nothing people can do against him. And last year,
(01:58:42):
that losing like that hurts. I think young teams bounce
back for that. Him, Drysdale, Caine, those guys. I think
they get it done this year. Give me the Oilers
in six.
Speaker 3 (01:58:50):
I don't know. The Panthers are rough.
Speaker 4 (01:58:52):
It's tough.
Speaker 3 (01:58:53):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:58:53):
Panthers remind me of the old Islanders. You know, they're
just one of those teams that rises to the occasion.
Hard to repeat. I'm on the side with the Panthers
in this one. But I do think it's going seven
all right. I think it could go all the way seven.
Speaker 3 (01:59:05):
On that one.
Speaker 4 (01:59:05):
I love it all right.
Speaker 2 (01:59:06):
NBA Finals, I want I want to, I want to.
You just heard John Paul Morose actually picked the Okay,
so what's.
Speaker 4 (01:59:14):
Give me going out?
Speaker 3 (01:59:15):
Man?
Speaker 4 (01:59:15):
I just I believe, I believe what I've seen from
the the Pacers. I just really love the defense, and
and okay See, they're both young teams, right, so one
of these young teams are going to win the championship.
I'll go out on the limb, give me the Pacers
on seven.
Speaker 2 (01:59:28):
My only question is, okay See, in four or five
the Pacers and they win a game at home, Well,
I saw what okay See did in Game three against
Minnesota where they gave them some false hope like they
could get back in the series, then obliterated them after that.
So I will go okay See five games. I'll give
the Pacers one little mercy win for them down the road.
(01:59:50):
Going there.
Speaker 3 (01:59:51):
Much more glowing up here on Fox Sports Radio
