Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
All of him a dream once again here on a
fully loaded Sports Sunday. This is Fox Sports Sunday, and
we are in the Fox Sports Radio studios. We have
so many things to get to over the course of
the show today, Bjy And of course the big story
this morning is Scotty Scheffler mission complete seventeen hunder par
(00:25):
a four shot victory to win the Open Championship, the
third leg of his career Grand Slam. And I would
not be surprised he has one missing piece the US Open,
and don't be surprised if he finishes that off next year.
I mean, his dominance right now in the world of
golf is undeniable.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
And you look at his rounds today, you know.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
One hiccup, a double bogie outside of that sixty eight,
sixty four, sixty seven, sixty eight, complete dominance by Scotty Scheffler.
Good or bad thing for golf to have a guy
of his character, of his personality as the dominant force
(01:09):
in the world of golf today.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Well as always, Good morning, partner, how you doing today,
how's the family.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
How's everything?
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Everybody's hanging in awesome, man, I'm glad to hear it.
All right, Scotty Scheffler, I gotta be a hater right now.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
I am.
Speaker 4 (01:20):
I am, by the way, You're not alone, But to
be a hater on this, I'm gonna be a hater
on this number one. To answer the first part of
your question. No, this is not good for golf. We've
been talking about this and we filled in yesterday. We
were here talking about it. We went over this at
the Wimbledon final watching center and Alcarez last week. You
have to have and I'm gonna steal a line from you,
(01:42):
you gotta have a little personality. You gotta have a
little swag. You gotta have a little juice. You gotta
have at a little freshness to you. Man, you gotta
have a little dopeness to you in today's world of sports, honestly,
for people to really care and matter, I ask JP Morosi,
who will have one of the third hours as we
do every Sunday, other than judges, Show Hey, give me
(02:04):
somebody like we need something else and show Hey doesn't
really have like a lot of personality neither this judge.
Judge is never gonna be mistaken for having this this
cool swag personality that just captivates you when he talks
and captivates you on podcasts and captivates you a postgame
in pre He doesn't have that. The baseball struggling with it,
Tennis is struggle with it, and now golf just doesn't
(02:27):
have it. But the haiden part I want to jump
on today is I watched this tournament and I'm like,
all right, this course is not even that hard for
these guys. We didn't get the We didn't get the
rainy days of Saint Andrews where Tiger and them are
out there standing to win, or Tiger nembers stay out
there and weeds up to their waists trying to get
(02:48):
out of the rough. And I mean people, guy's got
on park us and zip up hoodies and umbrellas and
ponchos and trying to stay dry until they hit the
next ball.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
And you know, okay, we're at the Open now. This
thing almost looked.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
Like pebble beats today. It was bright and sun eaters.
No one for major. You know, man, I just I'll
give him his props. He's got the third leg now
he's only missing one. Cool congratulations. But this thing just
singed kind of look at seventeen under for grit, for
grit for a major.
Speaker 1 (03:20):
Seventeen under for the Open.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
AKA like I mean, okay, I'm gonna have to interrupt
for a second here, because we just had a US
Open won by JJ Spawn where you know, nobody could
figure out how to play this course and you were
critical of that.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
No, no, I loved it.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
No, No, you were loved period.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Was JJ spawn as the beneficiary of some screwed up
course at Oakmond?
Speaker 1 (03:54):
The truth?
Speaker 3 (03:54):
That part true, as far as that was a course
for everybody.
Speaker 4 (03:59):
I sat right here told you guys how much I
love the way this course was rearing his ugly teeth
and was you.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Just didn't want JJ Sponder win it. No, it's not that.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
I just thought that the field kind of coughed up
and wet their pants and he kind of.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Backed into the US Open door.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
We look at the last few holes, the guy was
the only guy.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
Making some great shot exacting and you know what, and
I gave him prose for that.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
It was it was It was climax, It was drama,
It was entertaining. But if you go look at the
totality in the full context of that last round, everybody
fell apart and he was just the guy.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
Okay, but I watching a guy like it.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
The US Open just go blow people away, Tiger Woods,
Pebble beat Stout. That's we're not seeing that now. And
when you go over you look at Port Royal Port Rush.
I'm make sure I say correctly. I don't want to
find our our listeners around the world, especially over there,
uh and Europe. But this course for for major and
you know golf bro this course was it was almost
(05:03):
like she was nice this weekend and I didn't like
that part of it.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
Well, this is how the his courses are.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
I mean again, the weather can change day to day,
and you're right they did not. The first day was
the worst, right and you know that was the day
that we had. You know, Bryson Deshamba Open with a
seventy eight. He goes sixty five, sixty eight, sixty four
over the next three rounds.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
He doesn't win it and he finishes in the top ten.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
You had Wyndham Clark, the former US Open champion, Open
with a seventy six.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
He goes sixty six, sixty six, sixty five over the
last three rounds.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
He ends up tied for fourth and by the way
Rory McCrory, the local favorite. He was under par all
four rounds, right under par. I mean, came in is
still a hi four seventh in this. But Scotty Scheffler
again is now you're open champion. He wins this by four.
He won the PGA by five. I mean, these are
huge margins in a major golf championship to separate yourself
(06:00):
from the rest of the pack. I will say this though,
you know, and again, Scheffler just turned twenty nine.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
He looks like he's thirty nine. About to say, I mean, yeah,
he looked forty.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Yeah, but he's you know, he looks like he's some
middle aged insurance agent. And that's what he looks like.
But his game obviously speaks volumes. And there he is
right there. I mean again, does this sky look like
he just turned twenty nine?
Speaker 4 (06:23):
Absolutely, he looks like he checks the receipts with the
highlighter at Costco.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
That's what he looks like.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
And I want to point out the Chris's comment about
I would love it if it was Tiger guess what, Chris? Okay, yeah,
I would, But why we all would have? Because he
had personality he brought electricity. He brought swag to it.
People love every I wasn't the only one that would
have loved it. It was Scotty has slacked everybody. He beat
a charge. Showed me listen, he beat a charge that
(06:49):
doesn't give you swag, get charge and sliders.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Nice guys, I gotta tell you.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
And again, someone that really follows the history of all
these sports, Scotty Scheffer is what Nicholas was in the
beginning of his career in the sixties early seventies. You know,
we always think about Nicholas at the end, the emotional
masters everything, Yes, sir. Early in his career, he was despised.
(07:13):
He was boring.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
He was just winning major after major.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
He had taken Arnold Palmer out, who was one of
the most popular golfers of all time. Then he had
mister Lee Trevino shows up with all his personality and
Nicholas holds him off, and he was just considered boring
and repetitive in his demeanor. It wasn't until later in
his career, as he got older, that suddenly people sort
of warmed up to Jack. Nicholas started finally recognizing what
(07:37):
he was accomplishing, breaking all these records and everything else.
It was only then the people started to embraced Jack Nicholas.
So I don't know the path for Scottie Scheffler again.
Next year's US Open, he can complete the career Grand Slam.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
I'll put it this way.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
It's not going to take him as long as it
took Rory to get that final piece. And when that
last master is this guy's going to this guy is
going to start. This guy is gonna knock out majors
over the next few years. Just his basic demeanor. I
remember he started off this tournament by laying out the
fact that winning golf tournaments isn't all that. I mean,
he went into this whole explanation like, yeah, in the moment,
(08:13):
it's exciting. I'm a competitor, I want to win. And
then next thing, you know, it's like what are we
having for dinner?
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Right, That's the way he described it.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
You can't you can't be that. That's not gonna bring
people to the two. I would love to see the
ratings on this. I would love to look up the
ratings on the Open this weekend.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
It just it's a good call. And here's the thing.
You're so you're comparison with Jack love It.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
So then that's not to say that Scotty Scheffler's not
a great golfer. I've never said anything close to Scotty
Scheffler not being a great golfer. He's the world number one.
When you're arguing against the world number one, you should
just stop talking sports. Okay, he's the world number one.
The guy's got three of the four dominating. That's fine.
I'm not knocking that. But do we care, like, do
(08:54):
we really truly care? Don't try to get me to
act like we do. Michelson had a little We cared
even when guys like Sergio gar One.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
Michelson had a reckless game similar to Palmer way back
in the day. You remember at the Open he never
won the US Open. He sliced his drive on the
final hole. He was he went where it was like
instead of playing the gambler, no big time gambler.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
You know.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
We obviously rode the emotion with Rory mclroy winning the Masters,
and he was having a meltdown that he came back
melt time missed of your seat there like, hey, I
get it, and I with you. I'm going to disagree
with you I'm just that's why I asked. I mean,
it's an obvious answer. No, knock on Scottie Scheffler. But
the fact is is that when you're talking about golf
(09:41):
as a whole, getting people to get interest in golf
aside from the diehards who are always going to be there,
Scotty Seffler is not going to move the needle.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Just not no.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
And we missed this shot with a few young guys
that we wanted it to be. Listen, I'm not a
Rory guy, but it was cool to see him missed
the putt on eighteen and Augusta come back, drop the
putt and then fall to his knees and it wasn't fake.
You can tell sometimes when some of these guys when
they just kind of do what they've seen winners do
before and fall down you. But when you start to
(10:14):
see real tears that don't stop. He goes up, hugs
his wife, got the kid.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
I loved him.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
I'm a family man. I like that type of stuff.
I want to see the human the element of you.
But when you missed your I'm gonna still say this
about Roy. He missed this window to be that guy.
Sergio Garcia missed this window to be that guy. Phil
Mickelson missed his window to be that guy. Right now,
you can't point to the game of golf and find
somebody other, like you said, than the diehards, me, you,
(10:41):
my dad, who plays almost every day. You be hard
pressed to find somebody who can name you five of
the top fifty golfers right now. Of the average sports
fan that says, oh, yeah, I watch golf, all right,
name me five of the top fifty that's ranked right now.
And I guarantee you they couldn't do it because they
don't have this that pizazz, that electricity, that energy. We
(11:03):
light that in sports. We need that in sports, and
in golf they don't have it right now.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
They got a great golfer. But just tell me who.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
The star is, all right now.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
On the other side, we're going to get into something
happened last night.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
The w NBA All Star Game.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Is in the books and it was minus somebody, and
there are some alarming concerns about Caitlin Clark, the Savior.
The Savior the WNBA will spell about why there should
be concern moving forward for that league that's had a
great opportunity to tie themselves to a lightning rod and
(11:42):
blew it, and now they're going to regret it.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
We'll explain. This is Fox Sports Sunday.

Radio in the iHeartRadio app and it will always pop
up at the top of your All. Right, So last
night was the w NBA All Star Game, and again
ESPN the Four Letter have been trying desperately to get
people engaged in the WNBA, but they certainly did them
selves no favors at the SP's the other day when
(13:16):
they decided to bring on the very very funny Shane
Gillis as the MC. As he delivered his opening monologue,
he delivered this zinger.
Speaker 5 (13:28):
Four time WNBA All Star Britney Hicks is here.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Give it up for Brittany. Everybody, I'm joking around. That's
my friend's wife.
Speaker 5 (13:37):
I knew none of you knew WNBA players.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
That is unbelievable.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
In fact, they were actually showing some WNBA players that
apparently thought that Britney Hicks was a former player whatever,
but it was him mocking a league that that network
is desperately trying to endorse.
Speaker 3 (13:57):
I'm sure well they did all they could last night.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
Because Kaitlin Clark was not in the game, she was
supposedly coaching the team.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
The game was a blowout.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
It was a twenty point plus margin the entire night,
so it wasn't even a competitive game.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Very similar to the NBA All Star Game.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
The scoring was ridiculous, except that the level of play
was just lower.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
Call it for what it is. It's the emperors not
wearing any clothes.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
And unfortunately for the WNBA a year ago, they were
afforded an opportunity that they could have seized upon. Instead,
they have fought it all the way. And now I
got news for you, DJ, It's over, and not only
over for the league, but have you actually looked at
Caitlin Clark's numbers this year? Yeah, Kaylan Clark is shooting
(14:48):
thirty six percent from the field exactly and twenty seven
percent from three point line. She is one of the
worst shooters in the entire W and B A. Right,
So now Caitlyn Clark is being exposed as not all that.
(15:13):
So we we talked about this before. What does it
take for someone to elevate themselves above their sport. Well,
if you look at a Muhammad Ali or Michael Jordan
or a Tiger Woods, you got the it factor and
you have the game to back it up. You have
to have both. You have to have both the best
game the best game. Best game you have the best game.
(15:38):
And that was the hype for Caitlin Clark. And now
year two of her w NBA career, she's been on
the shelf. We look at her numbers compared to the
other All Stars, and she's at the bottom of the
list in terms of shooting numbers, which supposedly.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
Was their selling point. She never misses well.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
She has the worst three point percentage of any of
the women with a certain number of actually three point attempts.
So now you're supposed savior, which you were fighting the
entire way, is on her way down, and the WNBA
is gonna go back to the anonymity that it's so
(16:22):
called enjoyed for twenty five plus years.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
Victory Lap time, it's coming. I've been waiting, it's coming.
I've been saying since Iowa even heard the year before
her last year, year before senior year, when she lost
the National Championship game to LSU and Angelies number one.
She's very one dimensional. She's just not that great.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
Sorry, sorry America, Sorry Kaylen Clark fans everybody had supported her,
everybody that swore it.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
They were gonna stick with the WNBA.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
They were gonna watch these games that she was gonna
save this league, and everybody got on guys, women.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Like Diana Tarassi and Sheryl Swoops and.
Speaker 4 (16:59):
Other women that spoke out like, hey, look, we've been
in this thing for a long time. We just saw
the Sparks raise Kandas Parker's jersey up in Crypto aka
Staples Center. You know what I'm saying, Like, there's been
so many great women basketball players, and this woman was
handed the mental and handed the plaque of the goat
coming out of college was being called the goat.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
And plenty of people said it polanup.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
People saw it where the four letter Network dropped the
ball was instead of pushing the league, they try to
push her, and then they try to follow up with
now players are jealous.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
Of her, and players are mad at her, and players
it was all negative.
Speaker 4 (17:39):
Show me a clip where they were positively trying to
push the WNBA. It was all negative. And when you
do that, this is what you're gonna get. As the
Good God, the Good Lord once said and wrote, as
you think and talk, so shall your route go. So
if this is what you're gonna do for let a
network and you're gonna make it all about her and
angelies and you don't want to pay to the Asia
(18:01):
Wilson in the season that she was having last year,
teams that jumped out to thirteen and o fourteen and
oh fifteen and one. But no, we're still gonna talk
about a five hundred team, our team that's been in
a five hundred And I said, she's not built for
longevity in this game.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
She better put on fifteen pounds.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
And after her first rookie year, she looks just like
she did when she was an eyeway.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Whoo whoa, whoa, whoah.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
You didn't see the buffed out They were talking about
her buffed out look at the All Star Games.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Of course, because that's what they have to do that
I have to trying to do something, thank you.
Speaker 4 (18:32):
They're trying to see smart guys like you. You see that,
and I'm glad you're here. I am partner, I'm glad
you're here because the feel like you said, call it
what it is, guys, get out of your feelings and
just put the tape on the watch under thirty percent
from three. You know why, because just jacking up threes
from the wing the way she does, it's not sustainable.
She's not Steph Curry. Steph Curry does that, but Steph
(18:55):
Curry does a whole lot of other stuff too, and
why some people call him either the second or the
third greatest point guard of all time behind Isaiah Thomas
and Magic Johnson, Like you have to have the complete game.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
She is so fondamential. She can't guard.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
She can't guard, and she's foolish with the ball, and
she leaves the league in turnovers.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Last year, it was, well, she's a rookie VJA.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
Okay, what's the what's the excuse this year, ladies and gentlemen,
She's just not that great guys, and she's not gonna be.
She was a hype story. I'm saying the same thing
about Cooper Flag. Just keep the take, just mark my words.
Is she a nice young lady?
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Probably so.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
I don't know her. Do I dislike her?
Speaker 7 (19:29):
No?
Speaker 1 (19:29):
I do dislike her.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
But this idea that she was gonna come save this league,
and I bought that one that she did.
Speaker 8 (19:35):
She moved the needle like no woman ever had. But
it wasn't going to be sustainable. And it's showing because
now they're trying to do it. They're trying let it
be organic. When Mike hit the league, it was organic.
When Magic hit the league, it was organic. When Kareem
hit the league, it was organic. When Kobe and Lebron
when they hit the league.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
When we fall saw this Floyd, pretty boy before he
was Money Mayweather, when we saw pretty boy Floyd fighting
at a Grand Rapers.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Michigan, it was natural. I tell you guys this all
the time.
Speaker 4 (20:03):
I like organic. But when you try to do it.
Aunt Edwards, right, we've had this comra, it feels like, Bro,
you're trying.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Like, just let it. If you got swag, if you're the.
Speaker 3 (20:12):
One proof is in to put him in, and I
can't stand put it.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
But it's in there, and it's going to show sooner
or later, and we're seeing it play.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
She can't stay healthy.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Now well again, not the rap These are the numbers.
Speaker 2 (20:24):
He's played thirteen games, that's it. I mean she's midsided
on about ten games. She's shooting thirty six point seven
from the field, twenty seven point nine percent from three
point land and averaging five point one turnovers a game.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
And Steph Curry okay, right.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
And so you remember when the league came out and
the player said she was the ninth best guard in
the league, and everyone.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
Was just outright, wow, right right, talks.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
What look at the numbers, they are down across the board.
So if she hadn't been healthy or whatever.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
It might be.
Speaker 2 (21:00):
But the fact is last night was a reminder again,
So the MVP of the game last.
Speaker 3 (21:05):
Night, did you watch it last night?
Speaker 7 (21:07):
Well?
Speaker 1 (21:07):
I was forced to because I had so I had,
like was I watching it? Was on in the background.
Let's I'll be honest.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
I did it, ladies and gentlemen America. I'll admit I
watched zero a zero of it. I watched the documentary
on Netflix about a girl that was missing off her
cruise ship.
Speaker 3 (21:23):
Yeah so the feast uh Collier was the.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
Okay, yeah, yeah, Okay, I know the name. I'm not
gonna act like I know her. She isn't familiar with
When you.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
Look at her numbers, she has vastly superior numbers Caitlon
Clark this year and she was the m v P.
But I just think that whatever whatever we were talking
about for the last year or.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
So is gone.
Speaker 2 (21:46):
So I mean, it's it's over, and so we can
put that aside.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
And take that off the list.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
And here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
It could change, Steve, it could change. She could back
next year. She but I'm talking about right now. I
don't do it.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
Could have, would have?
Speaker 3 (21:59):
Should us?
Speaker 4 (22:00):
I like tape and I like what's happening right now.
The film never lies people. That's why they use it
in court. The film.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
That's you.
Speaker 4 (22:08):
You're taking that pack of skills young man that you
on camera, So you can't say you didn't do it.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
We're seeing you do it. We can't say that she's
the justin that she no.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
Sixteen points some points, five five five turnovers like you,
you're reckless with the ball.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
You're costing your team.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
She's one of the worst three point shooters in the league.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
And that's just a fact. I mean, the numbers do
not lie. And that's just on her.
Speaker 4 (22:27):
That's got nothing to do with the league and other players.
That's you. You're shooting the ball bad. That's on you.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Fix it, all right, Let's find out what it's trending
right now. See, there's there's certain people that are flashes
in the pan.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Yeah, monout to say not lesson not a continuous rising
star here at Fox Sports.
Speaker 9 (22:49):
Well, wash my hair and everything today stop and you got.
Speaker 4 (22:52):
That dope ass T shirt on. That T shirt is
so fire. I need one, do you?
Speaker 3 (22:57):
Because the way you're talking about Caitlin sounds like you.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Hate face on and that my own face. Hey, what
are you talking about?
Speaker 9 (23:04):
You gave you on an NBA gam I'm sure you
didn't playing the NBA.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
All right, So Monty and I don't know that.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Back in the day of our show together, we we
spent a lot of time talking about the rise, so
you can starved Pep and Clark and this whole phenomenon
and where we were a year ago. But Moncey, I
mean again, her numbers are so far down from what
she did a year ago.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Plus she's not playing.
Speaker 9 (23:27):
And she's not playing, she's injured, she's very underwhelming. All
of those are true, all of our numbers true. But
to say VJ that she doesn't move the needle, that
it didn't come organic, I don't agree with that. Couldn't
have been more organic. She didn't ask for this, this
the fans loved her. It happened organic.
Speaker 4 (23:45):
No, that's no, that's what made it non organic. Like
you said, she didn't want none of us. The Four
Letter Network pushed and made.
Speaker 9 (23:51):
These stories the Four letter network J It was happening
without that network pushing that. This happened because people started
talking about her on social media.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Why do we start talking about kitlen car what the
man started started in college?
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Yes, it was VJ. That was after the fact, I
too know people will start.
Speaker 9 (24:12):
Okay, if that's true what you're saying, that the hand
of the angel Rees doing that in the in the game,
If that's what started everything, then people wouldn't have been.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
Watching that game.
Speaker 9 (24:25):
People were already tuned in to that game to watch
Caitlyn Clark and Iowa play L s U.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
But that doesn't happen.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
It never gets shot to the stratosphere that it got shot.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
To and then you mess were.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
The orgession of the two ladies.
Speaker 9 (24:42):
But Caitlyn Clark was always being shot up, whether or
not Angel Rees did not did that.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
Where it was shot up was the rivalry that it's
non existent.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
And that's what they tried to hinge it on. Trying
to build the league was off of that.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
All the talk show, they were all hyping it up.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
When you've got something hot, right, hype it and if
people are jumping on you, go for it. As much
as you possibly can. But again, if you're going to
be that, you know.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
Transcendent athlete like an Allie or Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods,
your game has to back it off, of course, otherwise
it's not sustainable.
Speaker 7 (25:19):
Right.
Speaker 9 (25:19):
So she's got a year and a half under her belt, right,
the first year she delivered, and this year is underwhelming
and injured and underwhelming and underwhelming.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Underwhelming is is?
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Your numbers are down, but there's so much.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Still to that's left to see.
Speaker 9 (25:37):
I know VJ took a victory lap and also said
not coulda would have shoot it? Okay, so are you
gonna retake back that victory lap in a year if
she surpasses again.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
You've been doing radio with me long enough. I have
no problem ever coming back around saying.
Speaker 9 (25:50):
Aren't you taking the victory lap little early? When it's
her second year She's I'm gonna be.
Speaker 1 (25:55):
Honest with you.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
I don't think it turns around. That's why I'm taking
my victory like that. I think this is I think
this is she is.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
She's not done.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
I just think this is who she is.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
She'll still average sixteen seventeen points for the next six
or seven seasons in the.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
W n b A.
Speaker 4 (26:07):
But she will not go to the stratospheres of Diana
Tarassi and Kandas Parker and these other women that were
Lisa Leslie women. She will never touch those levels. I
will stand on that today. She'll never get to those levels.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
This is who she is. She's one dimensional, Monzie.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
She really is. You could listen you.
Speaker 9 (26:25):
You have been very strong on your feelings for Kaylyn
Clarks in the beginning, saying she's one dimensional.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
It's like, okay, because she's not.
Speaker 9 (26:33):
She's figuring out the league. Don't you think, well, you
can injured or.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Whoa hold on?
Speaker 2 (26:40):
You say she's figuring out the league. The league has
figured her out.
Speaker 9 (26:43):
Absolutely, But she has to do the same thing too.
Did we not see Michael Jordan get beat up by
the bad boys?
Speaker 4 (26:50):
He was but while still dominating.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
No, No, he got hurt his sophomore year.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
Did Kaylyn car get hurt her suffering?
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Yeah, but he also came up. Look, maybe she'll make a.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Playoff run, right, That's what he did that year where
her He put up sixty in the playoffs that year
to remind everyone I'm still around and then he rebound
him from there.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
All right, look, do you still want an update?
Speaker 3 (27:12):
I think that was pretty good.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
Yeah, listen, this is such a great topic. It's always
great MANSI how you know.
Speaker 7 (27:17):
That you go?
Speaker 3 (27:19):
There you go, I'm saying, I mean, I mean, like
that was good. I have to give you an update.
Let me give you an update.
Speaker 9 (27:24):
Scotty Scheffler has won his first ever Open Championship, ending
seventeen under par overall. Harris English ended four shots back
in second place. This is Scheffler's second major of the
year and fourth of his career. I don't there are
certain numbers that really like give me the goosebumps, are
like kind of like freak me out. But the fact
that tiger Woods first and fourth major win were one thousand,
(27:47):
one hundred and ninety seven days apart, and Scotty Scheffler's
first and fourth major win are one thousand seven.
Speaker 1 (27:57):
How'd you find that? No, she was sitting there with
her calculator, She's been adding it up. How did you
had this? Isaac had this?
Speaker 9 (28:08):
So then now you can't find this information. But Isaac
Low and Crown who was in before me?
Speaker 1 (28:13):
My god, this first?
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Tell me that's not like creepy. That's creepy, so creepy.
I don't like it. I love it. That's where the
comparison ends.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
I'm gonna say, throw a name on it. Scottie Scheffler finishes,
how many.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Majors he'll have, he'll have over double digits. I don't
there's any questions. He's got about seven years.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
Seven years. He has to add at.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
Least another ten. He could seven years. That's anytime two majors.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
I would say, at least, like I said, at least
six more.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
He'll get to ten.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
You'll like four, I like four or five? I like
four or five? Yeah, I like fourth tough.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
I mean when you went, Yes, I mean last year
off Way won two majors. This year, Scotty Schaeffer won
two majors. That's that doesn't happen unless you're a Tiger
or Jack Nicholas.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
You even win multiple majors in a year.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
But then these guys going droughts. These droughts do happen
in golf. It's look at Rory, it was years and
it was years.
Speaker 9 (29:17):
He just so it does seem like he's on his
own level. Yeah, right, but maybe maybe six is the
more realistic. If you're saying like seven years.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Total of maybe not. I don't know. If he gets
to I'll give him nine. Yeah, I'll give him nine.
How many?
Speaker 2 (29:32):
But remember Rory had those four like out of the
box right right, and it looked like at that point, Nicholas,
everyone was pretty well, you know, he's going to get
double digits, right, and then it went over a decade later,
it's like he's stuck at four and finally gets done
for five this year. Yeah, it's tough, but I think
he's got Scheffler is the kind of guy, his demeanor
and everything else where he's he's going to get to
that double digit.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
I think so just doesn't have the stay in power
it used to have.
Speaker 9 (29:57):
Either Aaron Judge home run, okay, thirty six Yankees to zero,
bore back to you guys, all right.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Might have been one of our best updates, real talk.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
That might have been one of the best updates ever
real time.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
So I and and to be fair too, Monsie, she
brings up a good point. I mean, Kayln Clark's been hurt.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
She's been hurting and a real injury.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
If you if you look at the last five games
she played before injury.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
I mean, her shooting numbers were.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Horrific, so maybe something was affecting her shooting. Let's see
what happens once she gets back.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
Also to your point, she never called for this, and
I call shit people with this. When players and athletes
don't want like they're now, it takes a special athlete
to be able to block all of that out. And
the guy always goes to is Charles Barkley. Charles Barkley
was very adamant I don't want to be your hero.
I don't want to be your superstar. I don't want
to be a role model to your kids, but was
able to compartmentalize all of that and still at one
(30:51):
point be the second best player in the National Basketball Association.
I think a lot of this is weighing down on
Kaylyn Clark. I agree, I don't think she wants a
lot of this, but sweet heart, this is what it is.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
This is the job.
Speaker 9 (31:02):
And I also think as much as I love Charles Barkley,
he does not understand living in social media under the starlight.
He comes a little differently because if Caitlin Clark said
I don't want any of.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
This, you think, oh well, get killed, get killed. This
is I love this subject matter about social media all
right for dinosaurs like yours truly uh VJ much younger
uh And then even another level here. You know, My
attitude about the whole social media phenomenon is, if it's
(31:37):
having an adverse effect on you, just don't look at
social media people and then people and then people look
at me like that. You don't understand. It's there all
the time, you said you can't because even if you're not,
you know, following social media, it's brought to your attention constantly.
And then of course if somebody is being look you know,
(32:00):
once in a blue moon, somebody will say something about me.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
In fact, I had some this. We read one yesterday.
I got to read this one. Yeah, I read one yesterday.
This is actually funny though. Okay, so this.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Well, the only the only reason back, the only and
by the way, the only reason I show up on
X is through you guys, right, I usually tagged on
with one of you guys.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
So I'm reading through this usually at the end of
the show.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
See if anybody had a comment about the show, and
somebody here, I'm going to find this in half a
second here, all right, here it is right here. So
this guy says, he listens, he goes at Cannon Hartman.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
By the way, if you want to follow me on
X he.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
Goes, I tune in during the same twenty minute window
every Saturday, six pm Eastern to six twenty pm.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
Never fails.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Steve Will let the audience know multiple times that he
used to work for the Raiders every period, single period,
Saturday period.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
So I was spotted to him, right, I said.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
I said, thank you for listening every Saturday. Did you
know I used to work for the Raiders like forty
years ago?
Speaker 1 (33:08):
L Ol.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Good for you to call me out. He responded by saying,
you demand all right. So I was like, all right,
well that was sort of cool, right, that's all you're doing, man,
But I mean, I can't imagine and I should be
more aware of this if you are a high profile athlete,
especially if we're one of the you know, you know,
someone we talk about on this show or everyone talks about.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
It really must be overwhelming when you think.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
About the what what is being said about you?
Speaker 3 (33:40):
But you know, some some you know, like Kevin Durantis.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
Had had Burner accounts a lot about it that he
didn't Then they found.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
Out all right.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
I mean it was just like, dude, what.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
Are you doing?
Speaker 4 (33:49):
Lebron Lota said he didn't know anything that Skip barely
said about him, and then it comes to find out
he's following them. Skip was at the was at the
old place. But I'm with Monci on this one. Older
people who sit around and go oh, just don't look
at it.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
The world is.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
Conditioned now for people to care more, in my opinion,
more than ever, what is thought about them. We are
conditioned now more than ever man. And it takes a
conscious mind to know who you are to really say,
I don't give a bleep what any of you think
about me. And my wife loves me, my kids love me.
I got love from God and that's it.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
Now.
Speaker 4 (34:25):
What I like a lot of people to like VJ
okay cool. But if you don't dan nowogy'all use this.
I'm a restaurant. Here's my menu. This is what it
costs to eat here. If you don't want to eat here,
guess what, No, no beef. You could go eat somewhere else.
But if you're gonna sit at this table, this is
what it costs to eat here. And it's as simple
as that. And if you can't do that, then you
(34:46):
can move on therapy. Help talk me, teach me that one.
But Steve, trust me, it's not it's not as easy.
And then and then it's your cousin my friends ain't
homeis it?
Speaker 5 (34:58):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (34:58):
Man?
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Did you think you with such and such a did
you see this?
Speaker 4 (35:00):
And did you get a text?
Speaker 2 (35:03):
The point is, though, if you are going to be
a high profile celebrity, you have to engage on social media.
That's part of the party, that is what you have.
You know, you're representatives. You've got to be on social media.
You gotta be on Instagram, you gotta do You're you're
required to do all that stuff. So the idea that
you can walk away from it while engaging it isn't impossibility.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Except for Beyonce and jay Z.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
I don't know two bigger stars that dude little to know.
So Beyonce don't talk to her fans and so she's
trying to sell y'all something. They're trying to get y'all
to come to her tours.
Speaker 9 (35:36):
Yeah, but because they've been around longer, they get away
with it.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
Sabrina Carpenter probably can't do that.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
Jay Z is on zero social media and he's still
the world's biggest rapper on planet Earth right now.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Okay, once again, thank you very much. When the Pop
Sports Radio studios coming up. On the other side, speaking
of social media, Lebron James, we now have a clear
indicator whether or not he will be a Laker this
coming season.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
We'll explain this is Fox Sports Sunday.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Steve Hartman and bj Husky here Fox Sports Sunday. We're
in the Fox Sports Radio studios. So one of the
stories that we will continue to monitor leading up to
the start of the NBA season is the whereabouts of
Lebron James. Will he remain a Laker? Will he be
(36:35):
on the move? Well, apparently someone that is closer to
the situation has put out something that makes a whole
lot of sense.
Speaker 3 (36:44):
Spill it.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
So when you think about Lebron James's final year in
the league, there is zero chance that he'll go through
a season and then a month afterwards announced that I
played my last game.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Oh of course, not that is not happening, not close.
Speaker 2 (37:05):
Lebron James will not only duplicate the fareweld tours that
we have seen from Kareem Abdul Jabbar, go down the list,
Kobe Bryant. We've known when the superstar players are playing
their last season and they go city to city and
they get honored for their careers.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
I have no problem with that. I think that's great.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
I sort of like it.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Sometimes when they get to the Hall of Fame, it's
so far after they played.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
You know, it's let's do it in the moment.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Let's honor them.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
As they should.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
And obviously, Lebron James is a player who's had such
an impact on the NBA. He deserves that kind of honor.
So keep that in mind. Really, oh, he deserves it.
He doesn't deserve it. Hell no, oh, guy, what are
you kidding me? Lebron James doesn't deserve to be recognized
as one of the greatest players in the history of
the NBA.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
That has manipulated the league, in the game as much.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
As a superstar.
Speaker 3 (38:00):
Give me this garbage.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
Whether you like him or not, he's the all time
leading scorer in the history of the game.
Speaker 3 (38:05):
He holds all these records.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
He absolutely deserves a farewell tour.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Whether you like him or not, he does, Yes, he does.
And you know what, it's not going to be a
tour people want it to be. I guarantee you, Okay.
Speaker 1 (38:19):
The bottom line is, though, in what uniform will he
be for the farewell tour?
Speaker 2 (38:23):
Do you honestly think he's going to get traded for
one year to the Knicks and by the way, announced
to the Knicks. Oh, by the way, this is my
last year. So I won a farewell tour in I
one season with the Knicks, or you know, going back
to Cleveland on a farewell tour.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
That is not happening.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
His farewell tour will be in a Lakers uniform.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
Never in a Lakers uniform. Never. Absolutely, they will finance it.
Speaker 2 (38:47):
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised in the idea that
they agreed to pick up this player options situation where
they made it clear you're done at the end of
this year, that they already have it written in that
this is gonna be his last year. He's gonna do
the farewell tour with his son at his side, Bronnie James,
And so there it is farewell tour. He'll announce it
(39:10):
before the season begins that this will be the farewell
tour for lebron James. The Lakers will embrace it, they'll
bank roll it. Bronni will be by his.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
Side for every farewell wave as he's given all these gifts.
And that is how it's gonna play out this year
with Lebron Jamie.
Speaker 4 (39:26):
First of all, the man is so full of himself
he can't walk away right now. He's still thinks he's
a championship type player. In news flash, guys, guess what
like it or not. Lebron James just doesn't matter anymore.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
He doesn't.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
That's why he's doing all the podcast offseason stuff.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
That's why he's doing all the talking. That's why he.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
Makes sure to sit court side of the summer league
game that his son was not playing in so that
everybody can see me there and everybody could come ask
me questions and put the mic in my face so
I can arrogantly go, I ain't got nothing to say, dude,
you always got something to say. Don't give me the
flip flam and fluff blow, don't don't don't give me
this bs that you're trying to do, Lebron James. And
(40:04):
I know it's hard for you guys to hear. I
know it's hard for Lebron James fans to hear. He
just does not matter anymore. I mean, fine, doesn't beat,
He doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
Does it matter? He is the face still of the NBA.
Speaker 3 (40:20):
No he's not, Yes he's not.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
Absolutely Lebron is not the face I want to get
shay him for half a second here on this whole thing.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
Sha, where are you saying? Where do I?
Speaker 1 (40:30):
It's brutal.
Speaker 10 (40:30):
I never agree with you guys ever when it comes
to Lebron, but I do think if it's a farewell tour,
it's gonna with the Lakers, And it might be it
probably will be this.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
Right, it will be this year, last year, a farewell
tours fifty All right, Well, if you don't care about
Lebron James, we know you care about the NFL. We
gotta run down, getting ready for the season coming up next.
Rolling along on another big sports Sunday. This is Fox
Sports Sunday, and we are in the Fox Sports Rate studios.
(41:01):
Coming up in this hour the Perfet picks, Yes, Perfet
picks are back. And also in our next hour, John
pal Morosi JP's going to be joining us as we
are post All Star Game in Major League Baseball, and
he has a very interesting stat that he's going to
be sharing with us coming up in the next hour,
(41:21):
so you definitely want to hear that here on this
edition of Fox Sports Sunday. All right, So, while we
have now officially dismissed the WNBA until something happens where
they're worthy of ever being mentioned again, and now that
we have turned the page on golf's major championships because
they are now all in the books. By the way,
(41:44):
this is only the third time ever that a golfer
has won multiple majors in the same year by at
least four shots. Only Ben Hogan and Tiger Woods had
ever won multiple majors in the same year, winning by
at least four shots in both of those majors.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
That's pretty good company right there for Scotti.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
Sheffler's impressive for Ben Hogan and Tiger Woods. But folks,
we're not going to pretend that you really care about
anything other than the National Football League, And believe it
or not, we are not that far away from the
Hall of Fame game, which is coming up on.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Thursday, the thirty first, So yeah, that would be eleven
days away, eleven more days, and we are going to
have NFL football to watch By the way, we were
mentioning this yesterday.
Speaker 3 (42:38):
VJ was on with me on the Saturday Show.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
We were talking to Adam Kaplan and by the way,
did a great job today sitting with Dan Bayer, always
entertaining to listen to a man is in depth with
the NFL, as Adam Kaplan is. But I brought up
the point of the AFC West, and I know it
sounds like we're talking a lot of AFC West, when
when you think about it, we could be talking a
lot about the AFC West. Remember this is a division
that had three teams in the playoffs last year, right,
(43:03):
you know, so when he got three teams the two divisions, right,
it was the NFC North with Detroit, Minnesota and Green
Bay and the AFC West with Kansas City, Denver.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
And the Chargers.
Speaker 1 (43:16):
It's gonna happen again this year.
Speaker 3 (43:18):
Could very well have happened again this year. It could
very well happen.
Speaker 2 (43:21):
But now we have the X factor with the addition
of Pete Carroll and I dare I mentioned this yesterday.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
Think about this.
Speaker 2 (43:29):
In one division, you have Andy Reid, three time Super
Bowl champion, lock for the Hall of Fame. You have
two other coaches that have won Super Bowls, and Pete
Carroll and Sean Payton, and they're going to be in
the Hall of Fame conversation with their lengthy careers down
the road. And then you have Jim Harbaugh, Jimmy Burgers,
(43:49):
and then you have Jim Harbaugh, by the way, he
was talking yesterday at a press conference about feeling well.
They were talking about having again Justin Herbert as your quarterback,
right and he said, I dare say, I'm feeling comfortable
(44:10):
right now, And.
Speaker 3 (44:11):
Then he caught himself.
Speaker 2 (44:12):
He goes comfortable only in the sense that I feel confident.
We have confidence. When you have confidence, you can feel
a certain level of comfort. And so you know, Jim
Harborough's record speaks for itself. At every level he's ever coach,
He's a winner, winner, winner, winner, winner, and what he
did a year ago with the Chargers, to me is
absolutely miraculous. But I would dare say that in the
(44:37):
history of the NFL, we have never had a division
with that kind of forsome of coaches. I mean, you
talk about Mount rushmore Ian, maybe not that level, but.
Speaker 1 (44:48):
We are talking about four coaching legends, top level coaches
all in the same division.
Speaker 4 (44:57):
That to me is very intriguing. It is very interesting.
I thought about it yesterday. I'll give you another time
frame you in your historian. Let's go back to the
NFC East at one point, had Joe Gibbs right, deal,
Parcells yep, Ryan, Buddy Ryan right? And I want to well,
(45:20):
M Johnson, Jimmy john Jimmy Johnson. That's pretty good in
Jimmy Johnson. That's all Hall of famers.
Speaker 1 (45:27):
Well, buddy, Ryan's not in the Hall of Fame, is
he not?
Speaker 3 (45:30):
He's not in the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (45:31):
I mean, I'll put it this way. As a buddy,
Ryan's not in the Hall of Fame. Was as an
assistant coach?
Speaker 4 (45:37):
God Heed oh Man. I didn't know that Ryan's not
in the Hall of Fame. I didn't know, Okay, but
he needs to be. Well, he is as a contributor,
don't they put contributors in.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
Well, what they have done is the Pro Football Hall
of Fame decided a few years ago, about five years ago.
They have It's not officially Hall of Fame, but for
those that fall in that category of assistant coach or
uher or equipment manager or PR guy, they have like
a separate win.
Speaker 3 (46:05):
He invented a defense.
Speaker 8 (46:07):
I understand that he invented a defense like he invented
that's like someone that invents an offense.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
But as a head coaches, record was not great. Man,
You know what, I get so tired of that.
Speaker 3 (46:19):
Well, I don't know how do you engauge how do
you engauge a coach?
Speaker 4 (46:21):
But impact how much you gave to the game. Invented
a defense produced the two head coaching well not head coaching.
One head coach is signed, but one who was. It
was regarded as one of the best defensive coordinators in
the last twenty years in the National Football League. And
uh and in his Ryan Boys, Oh no, I did
not know.
Speaker 3 (46:40):
Assistant coach cool?
Speaker 1 (46:42):
All right?
Speaker 2 (46:42):
All right here by Ryan, Buddy Ley better have a
gold jackets, all right, So Buddy Ryan. In seven years
as a head coach, five years with Philadelphia, two of
Arizona was overall record was fifty five to fifty five and.
Speaker 3 (46:54):
One exactly five hundred ROCD.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
It's not gonna get you in his ow and three
in playoff games, he never won a playoff game.
Speaker 4 (46:59):
And as a head and think about those coaches I
just named, he had to battle with. Think about those
coaches I just name he had. So it's tough sledding.
Speaker 5 (47:06):
Man.
Speaker 4 (47:07):
You're five years in one place and you get Bill
Barcels twice, and you get Jimmy Johnson twice, and you
get Joe Gibbson by the way, By the way, it's
not easy to do. Ladies and gentlemen.
Speaker 3 (47:14):
You know you know where he got his first Super
Bowl ring?
Speaker 1 (47:17):
Oh don't know. Tell me, don't tell me how his
first Super Bowl ring.
Speaker 3 (47:21):
He was a defensive line coach for a team that
won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (47:24):
What team was it? Icrgo Bears, the New York Jets
super Bowl three. He was the defensive line coach, Chams,
the d line coach for Nanda's Guarantee.
Speaker 3 (47:33):
He got a ring. He was the defensive line coach.
Speaker 1 (47:36):
But then he should be in the hall. Okay, but
there you go.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
You just made you just helped make my point. But
to those coaches, we're talking about the ABC West. It's beautiful,
it is, but I you're not gonna like this. I
Pete just might be the guy that stuck around at
the cookout a little too.
Speaker 3 (47:53):
I don't believe that.
Speaker 2 (47:54):
I know you, I know, don't When he when they
dumped Russell Wilson, you know, and it was like it
was over right, and then he brings in Geno Smith.
Did we even know Gina was still playing in the league.
It's like he's still around. And then he gives them
the job and they made.
Speaker 1 (48:09):
The playoffs that have been Pete Carroll's best coaching job ever.
Speaker 4 (48:14):
In the draft picks that he made over that time,
when you talk about Tarik Wollen and DK Mattcalf and
Zach Sharbonnay and those guys he's he's been able to
bring in there. And hey, listen, I have a little
beef with Pete here. I've let most of it go,
but I just still hate the way he tucktail and
ran off a figure rower and left Reggie Bush handing
(48:35):
all the evidence.
Speaker 3 (48:36):
I just still it just still just something well he
knew was coming.
Speaker 4 (48:40):
Yeah, but look, you don't leave it with You don't
leave a kid with Okay, yeah, you knew what was up, bro,
my Reill Ferrell at practice and you don't know what's
going on.
Speaker 2 (48:48):
My father, my late great father, who was a diehard
USC football fan because he went to USC when I
was in Miami for USC's a BCS championship game when
they blew out Oklahoma and the Liner threw five touchdowns.
And by the way, after the game, I see Mike Garrett,
the athletic director at the time, who gives me a
bear hunt because I had told Mike Garrett my son,
(49:09):
Garrett is actually named after Mike Garrett, because.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
That's two teas.
Speaker 2 (49:13):
But I saw Pete Carroll during the practice that week,
you know, and I walked up to him and I said,
for my father, I want to thank you for reviving,
reviving you know, usc F.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
Thirty four straight wings that team.
Speaker 3 (49:27):
Come on, all those nflers and then all those guys.
He was unemployed for a year.
Speaker 1 (49:32):
I mean, he was like, no, why would USC higher peak,
higher peak?
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Within two years he had that team back on top
and never looked back. So yeah, I.
Speaker 3 (49:40):
Helse when you grabbed the top recruits.
Speaker 4 (49:44):
Year in and year out, when you're grabbing three at
the top twenty five kids in.
Speaker 3 (49:48):
College, high school, it helps on, hold on, hold on.
Speaker 2 (49:52):
So when would talk about a team that had Jarrett,
You remember Dweing Jarrett. Of course, I remember you got
Glendelle White, he got Reggie Bush, he got Matt Liner,
yelling Joy you know how many Pro Bowls they had
in their NFL career combined.
Speaker 7 (50:05):
Zero?
Speaker 1 (50:05):
Let me just oh wow, Yeah, Reggie Bush never made
a Pro Bowl.
Speaker 4 (50:08):
That's who I was going to. I thought he got
the one so zero.
Speaker 2 (50:12):
So you think about that, that superstar offensive lineup, one
of the greatest of all time. None of those guys
panned out in the NFL to where everyone thought they
were not even close.
Speaker 3 (50:23):
Reggie got the closest.
Speaker 4 (50:25):
He did, but not Matt, not Dwayne Jared. I just
always knew it was just a big body guy. He
had no speed and he couldn't win.
Speaker 3 (50:31):
Rouse Well.
Speaker 1 (50:31):
The other guy was Steven Smith, who actually turned out
to be a better player exactly. He was solid Jones guys.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
So when you look at it, did he everyone said, Wow,
anybody could have won with those guys, or did he
raise his game third game at the collegiate level, because
it never did translate to the NFL level.
Speaker 4 (50:52):
On the flip side, Pete Carroll's a defensive guy, and
all those defensive guys were making Pro Bowls, and one
was in the Hall of Fame in Troy Polamalu.
Speaker 3 (51:00):
Correct, Norm Chow was the offensive coordinate exactly.
Speaker 2 (51:03):
Norm Chow was a college I mean he was the
guy that built the offensive b y you way back
in that Astrits.
Speaker 1 (51:10):
With Don, Tom Brady and Belichick. Y Norm Chow Chow. No, no, no,
Norm Chow, the college guy. Oh, I'm sorry, Norm Chow.
Speaker 3 (51:17):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (51:18):
Who am I? Who am I thinking?
Speaker 4 (51:19):
I'm thinking to Charlie Am I think? Yes, I'm thinking Charlie.
I'm sorry, I'm thinking two big guys.
Speaker 7 (51:25):
I'm just.
Speaker 3 (51:27):
That's okay.
Speaker 2 (51:27):
That's Norm Chow was on the college level. It was
a genius in terms of putting offenses together, and the
the guy that really benefited from that.
Speaker 3 (51:39):
With pet care I.
Speaker 1 (51:39):
Think again, maybe I'm wrong, but I think he is
going to have a huge impact.
Speaker 3 (51:45):
They finished.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
I'm putting you on this. They're gonna finish third. Now,
don't ask don't ask me that yet. Are you bellowship
on your Broncos will.
Speaker 3 (51:56):
Get to our picks of the season.
Speaker 1 (51:58):
So you got earl you not anybody says that Pete
Carroll is not going to finish last.
Speaker 4 (52:04):
So I'm interesting to see who you got last, because
you're not putting Jimmy Berger's down there, and I'm thinking
you're hopping off the Bronco band wagon train that you
got right last year they were gonna make the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (52:14):
I think you might want to get off there.
Speaker 1 (52:15):
If it's any team it's Kansas City, I.
Speaker 4 (52:21):
Can't at some point right, some point has got point
point homes like missus FIV or like at some point man,
it's somebody goes down.
Speaker 3 (52:34):
Okay, all right?
Speaker 2 (52:35):
Coming up on the other side, we get ready for
one of the hottest segments in the history of sports
talk radio. It's the Perfect Picks coming up next Hartman
and Husky, Fox Sports Sunday, once again from our Fox
Sports Radio studios.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
It is that time here we.
Speaker 1 (52:59):
Go, precise, profitable.
Speaker 5 (53:04):
Over under a half a flagrant gentleman, are your perfect picks?
Speaker 1 (53:09):
Hmm? You can smell it all coming. And I'm going
to resist the urge to put in a pick here
about over under a Lion's injuries by next week, because
we've already got one guy out for the Lions on
an ACL surgery, and I think Ennis Rakestraw also left practice. Wow,
Lions problems are starting right where they left off. But
(53:30):
enough of that, let's talk about your records from last week.
The one who has the problem is Steve What your
lead is rapidly deteriorating. DJ might be back in this game.
Speaker 3 (53:40):
All right, Well, I took some wild picks last year.
Speaker 2 (53:43):
You would try to get him back in the game,
but I'm don't do that.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
Okay, no more wild picks. What did I do?
Speaker 1 (53:51):
You went over on Jacob Mazowski All Star Game strikeouts.
Speaker 3 (53:54):
That surprised me.
Speaker 1 (53:55):
He did pitch a full inning and he didn't strike
out anybody, nobody, nobody.
Speaker 3 (54:00):
That's weak.
Speaker 1 (54:01):
All right. You also went over, I believe, on Caitlyn
Clark and Brianna Stewart points because Caitlin Clark did not
play Brandon.
Speaker 3 (54:09):
Another reason why I'll never mention the WNBA again.
Speaker 1 (54:15):
Brianna Stewart held up her own side of the bargain
to be fair. To be fair, if Clark had the
same point Stuart had, you would have hit the over.
And you both took under on second round rookies who
signed contract by next week. But you did see a
couple finally start to crack and get signed. But anyway,
the score is now seventeen. I'm sorry, eighteen to sixteen.
(54:37):
Steve to.
Speaker 3 (54:40):
I got to wipe him in these football picks. So
let's go.
Speaker 1 (54:42):
Well, we got some football like set a ja stuff
to talk about because the big story of this week
TJ Watt paid bang. So I've got two separate ones
involving the one everyone is circling now, Micah Parsons. When's
he gonna get paid? We know the cow always love
doing the stuff late. So I've got two different Micah
Parsons picks, and you guys can set yourself up on this.
(55:05):
I thought about me dude doing a Hutchinson one as well,
since he hasn't paid yet. But everyone cares about Parsons
right now. So Parsons contract signing by next week over
under a half. So say yes, no, he signed by
next week.
Speaker 4 (55:18):
By the next time, by next week, going a yeah.
Speaker 1 (55:23):
When the report to camp, Steve, I know you got
it O right.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
In front of you, I'm gonna say, I'm ready to
jump in on this one. Will he be signed by
this time next week? We'll say under his no, the
answer is yes, Yes, I'm going over he will be.
Speaker 4 (55:40):
Signed under Okay, No, No, you're going under. You're saying
he's gonna be signed.
Speaker 1 (55:46):
By No, he's going over. He said will be signed.
He's saying he will be signed. So yes, that I
said he will be signed, yes, over.
Speaker 3 (55:56):
Okay, that's confusing, all right, So.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
What he's saying is confusing is is that over means
beyond next week?
Speaker 1 (56:04):
Right over the next week are under? Tell you what,
let's let let's change that format then, so you'll go over.
Let's say it's seven seven and a half actually technically
should be the under. Yes, yes, yeah, yeah, that's what
I'm saying. We'll be free formatted. You aren't see you're
now the over. So no, no, no, I'm going under signed. Yes,
he's going on there, I'm going under. He will be
(56:27):
signed by next week. All right, give me, give me,
give me the over. I think this, I think this
drags out this week. The Hendrickson things, the hendricks things.
Speaker 3 (56:39):
Are still out there. So yeah, I'll take the over.
Speaker 4 (56:41):
He won't buy it by by by this time next week,
he won't be signed yet.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
I don't think Henderson's going to factor into this equation
at all. I feel like the Bengals are going to
be like, yeah, that's what t J. Wat got paid, Like, well,
we'll low ball you up under that. Yeah, I'll take
I'll take the over. He won't. He won't be signed
by next week.
Speaker 2 (56:58):
The Cowboys have got to get the bad taste out
of last year out of their mouth asap.
Speaker 1 (57:03):
But you know, you know this, Steve, You know how
much Jerry loves a show and how much he wants
to do after seven and ten. He wants to brag
that he paid the most to a defensive player, just like.
Speaker 3 (57:13):
He run up.
Speaker 1 (57:15):
He can do that, right Deshaan Watson's contrast by one million.
But then if the Lions come out the week after
that and one up him, what's he gonna do about him?
Speaker 3 (57:22):
And this happens with the quarterbacks all the time.
Speaker 2 (57:25):
They make a big story about some quarterback being the
highest paid quarterback and a week later they're not all right.
Speaker 4 (57:30):
And I don't think Detroit plays hutches my guy, and
you know that's Michigan man hunches my guy all the
way through and through.
Speaker 1 (57:36):
I don't think he gets a deal this year, well.
Speaker 4 (57:40):
Exactly, especially coming off of the of the Aco, he
does not.
Speaker 1 (57:45):
It was like a it was a tibular fracture. It's
like that will actually leg injury.
Speaker 3 (57:49):
He won't.
Speaker 1 (57:50):
They're not gonna pay him this year, all right. Well,
the second part of the Micah Parsons properly uh over
under then is guaranteed money averaged by year. So TJ's
Watts contract averages out forty one million dollars a year
over under forty three and a half million a year
for Michael Parsons under really under, Oh, I'll go over
(58:14):
on that one. Under.
Speaker 4 (58:17):
I don't think it resets. Oh, listen, I like Michael Parsons,
but I just think TJ. Watten matters more to his team.
Speaker 2 (58:23):
Well, first of all, I agree with you on that.
I think I'll be honest with you, and I've said this,
I think Michael Parsons is overrated. I've been saying that
almost afterwards with the season. I just, you know, again,
what impact does he have?
Speaker 9 (58:39):
It?
Speaker 1 (58:40):
Right?
Speaker 3 (58:40):
Exactly? You know he is, you know, and he really
hasn't had any so he did.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
But all the all the criticism, rightfully so about Dak
Prescott's less than glittering postseason.
Speaker 1 (58:52):
Record, Michael Parsons is that guy on the defense, right,
and that defense at times says look horrific. We'll give
it a forty less points to jender Love.
Speaker 2 (59:01):
But that being said, I still think it's over he
will get more money, deserve it or not.
Speaker 1 (59:05):
All right, Well, we've come out of the All Star break,
and we've seen some slumps from the American and National
League leaders in both the Dodgers and the Tigers. Both
have come out a little flat, which tends to happen. Dodgers,
I believe, have lost eight of their last ten, Is
that correct. I think it's nine out of eleven now
something like that. Yeah, with seven out of yeah, so
(59:26):
nine out of eleven. So we've got quite a few games.
There's a game tonight and then I think we'll have
another's Dodgers game. I think there's like seven games before
next show. So let me see, let me let me
think how to do this. Let's go to the big guy.
Let's go to Otani. Over under an Otani hits eight
and a half by next show.
Speaker 3 (59:43):
Oh, over over.
Speaker 4 (59:46):
That guy's right, he'll warmback, go Otani. I'm tired of
doubting the guy. I'm being honest with you, man, I'm
tired of doubting the guy or just waiting to see
if it's real or not it's legit. Well, they're at
least playing five or six games this week.
Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
We're sitting at Sunday.
Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
All right, I'm gonna I'm gonna take a look here,
I need.
Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
To look at it. They might have one day off
this week.
Speaker 1 (01:00:06):
Set this at nine and a half and and and
Shay said it was high.
Speaker 4 (01:00:09):
That is high. Seven and a half would be better,
all right. So that's for the week, all right. And
I'm looking at their schedule right now.
Speaker 2 (01:00:18):
The Dodgers have one more game against Milwaukee today, by
the way, they had They're zero and five against the
Brewers this year, so that's it. Then they go against
the Twins. Twins just got beat up by the Rockies,
did they not.
Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
That's embarrassing.
Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
And then the last thing, the Dodgers head to Boston
to take on the Red Sox.
Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
But this is about Alan's all right.
Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
So a tanis hits over that time, give me over.
If he has one three hit game, it goes so
I'm gonna I can't go under.
Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
I gotta go over. So he's gonna have to hits
the night.
Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
So you're both going over. We're both going okay, Okay,
let me throw a bonus one in here real quick,
because I know it'll tee off Steve a little bit.
MLS All Stars playing the Legua MX All Stars. The
last bit of all of these God awful all Star
games for the summer. Please get these off my TVs entirely.
By the way, do you guys have the same problem
I have with All Stars? Like I feel like there
(01:01:08):
was an entire discourse this week about like who should
or should not be an All Star win. It's an
award for the first half of a season, which it
should not be right, But here's the problem. If you
do it at the end of the year, that's the
Pro Bowl, and nobody will show. Nobody shows up to
the Pro Bowl. Nobody would show up to an MLB
Pro Bowl.
Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
I look it, you know me, I am I me
deep in history when I gauge baseball, I don't even
include all Star games.
Speaker 3 (01:01:33):
But I'm just saying what I look at is MVP voting.
Speaker 2 (01:01:36):
Because the MVP voting votes top ten and they've done
that since the beginning of nineteen thirty one.
Speaker 3 (01:01:41):
So look at who have top ten.
Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
And if you have top ten votes number of years now,
you're at it an elate.
Speaker 1 (01:01:47):
Love Golden Gloves. We've got silver slug Golden Gloves. Vocusp Like,
we're just saying, we have end of the year awards.
We can let all Star stuff be fun.
Speaker 7 (01:01:57):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
I mean it's a fan thing.
Speaker 4 (01:01:58):
I mean that's they were in the era of eliminating
the All Star Game.
Speaker 3 (01:02:03):
I think it's coming.
Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
It's getting very used to be a novelty when you
had it nationally, get americanly before the interleague play, if
your only opportunities for next week, if you're streaming the
only time you got to see the top stars in
the America versus the top starts of the now.
Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
Just mlbedo guys, remember how great the Pro Bowl used
to be in Honolulu used to play. Those players talked
about it was a vacation for them.
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
In that fan And same with the NBA All Star
Game where they were actually trying to gauge themselves right
against the bench the best.
Speaker 3 (01:02:33):
Like when in those days in the eighties and nineties.
Speaker 4 (01:02:36):
Yeah, they horsed around for about a quarter and a
half to two quarters. But all those greats will tell
you in interviews and I've had that and I've talked
to them.
Speaker 3 (01:02:43):
Towards halftime, we get a little serious.
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Because you want to go on a half down.
Speaker 4 (01:02:46):
You come out in the third quarter and you kind
of horse around a little more. And it said at
about that seven minute mark, six minute mark to fourth
gets serious, It gets real, It gets serious, and that's
just was an't even that long ago that they actually
played a get fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (01:03:01):
Thus you will get from me the only line anyone
will ever post on the MLS All Stars versus the
League of MX All Stars. I garan sheet you on
this MLS All Stars one and a half goals over under.
By the way, Leonel Messi once again not playing for
the MLS All Stars in spite of an overwhelming fan
vote for him to be in this.
Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
He's like seventy, he doesn't have to.
Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
It's also the the name this league has pinned their
entire existence, and they've been doing that since back up this.
They keep screwing out.
Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
They get guys at the end of their careers.
Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
I know, the MLS keeps crapping it out, crapping it
out because it's scheme.
Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
I've been telling you of that forever. I mean is
they keep expanding and infuse new money. It's like the
House of Hard.
Speaker 1 (01:03:45):
I mean, it's gonna go down, all right whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
I mean, I'm blind on.
Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
This, so just throw it out. Okay, you're you're more
soccer than I am, so you make.
Speaker 3 (01:03:53):
Your what's that what's that? What's the call, buddy, I'm.
Speaker 1 (01:03:56):
Saying over over under one and a half goals for
the MLS All Stars. Yeah, one and a half total,
over for both teams. No, just for the MLS All
just but who are they playing? The Liga MX All Stars?
Speaker 3 (01:04:09):
Over the hell?
Speaker 1 (01:04:10):
Is that the Mexican League?
Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
Which is really I mean again, this is over. I'm
just going over over Wait, we're both, We're both I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
Not gonna I'm not gonna my season the entire perfect
picks based on some.
Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
It was trying to throw another one in here to
make a little more daylight, right. I know that we
got some futures coming up, rapid fire futures on the
other side.
Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
But first let's find outs trending.
Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
Right now, it's that time of the show.
Speaker 9 (01:04:43):
I'm paying attention to your over unders.
Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
What are you guys doing anyway over.
Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
Under on how many goals the mL What do you
do all Stars will score against the Mexican All Stars?
Speaker 9 (01:04:56):
Is that a thing happening?
Speaker 1 (01:04:58):
Well, it's not anymore because we both No, we're taking
over he said, who's who?
Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
Tart?
Speaker 7 (01:05:04):
Thing?
Speaker 1 (01:05:05):
Is this an all star game? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
Yeah for MLS and they're playing the by the way,
and Messi decided again, No, he's not playing.
Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
He doesn't even though he got all the votes. What
are we doing?
Speaker 3 (01:05:17):
He goes, Why would I?
Speaker 1 (01:05:18):
Why would I care? If I don't get If Messi
does care, it doesn't care. Why would anybody else care? Cut?
Speaker 4 (01:05:24):
I'm here for the American money. Cut my check, cut
my check, here to play your all star game.
Speaker 9 (01:05:29):
Exactly exactly how much money does Scotti Scheffler win today
for his first ever Open Championship.
Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
I'm just guessing it says the purse is seventeen mil. Oh,
so he's got five, No, no, no, seven, not for
just one tournament. That isn't that the purse for the
entire tournament? Yes, yes, right exactly, So I would five.
He gets up, he gets five. I wonder what he
gets to.
Speaker 3 (01:05:51):
I mean, that's a chunk of it.
Speaker 1 (01:05:52):
You gotta pay. You better pay him.
Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
He gets the bigger cho you know what it might be?
Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
Yeah, five, I'll stick a five, five point, I'll stick
go five points. It's a good number, it's a good number.
Speaker 9 (01:06:00):
Well, yeah, Scotti Scheffler won his first ever Open Championship today,
ending seventeen under part overall Harris English and did four
shots back in a second place. Oh and uh, well,
I don't know if I trust this, Shay. I really
don't know, but I guess we're gonna trust it. I
don't trust Ai. You know what I'm saying, Shay says,
it's three point one million of the prize money for
Scott Wright.
Speaker 1 (01:06:19):
That sounds all right, That sounds seems low low. I
won the whole day, seventy and I get three dollars
and none of you got even close. It is it?
Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
He gets a three point one million.
Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
That's the winner one, all right?
Speaker 9 (01:06:37):
Well, he won a lot of money, his second major
of the year and the fourth of his career. We'll
move on to baseball, where the angel scored five runs
in the fifth innings. So now they're topping the Phillies
six to one, top of the fifth, White Sox with
a seven to one lead over the Pirates bottom of
the seventh, starting soon the Yankees have added some more
runs there on top of the Braves four to one
after seven innings. Aaron Judge, with this thirty sixth homer
(01:06:59):
of the season in the Padres started things tough with
a grand slam from Xander Bogarts.
Speaker 1 (01:07:03):
Haven't looked back.
Speaker 9 (01:07:04):
It's eight one against the Nationals, bottom of the seventh
about to start. The Mets are edging the Reds to
one bottom of the seventh. In New York, All Royals
against the Marlins at six zero bottom of the seventh
there and the Guardians have added some more runs, so
now they're topping the As five to one bottom of
the seventh inning. Cubs edging the Red Sox one zero,
bottom of the fifth inning. One game has wrapped up
(01:07:24):
and it's the Blue Jays who took down the Giants
eighty six to.
Speaker 3 (01:07:27):
Complete a three game sweep.
Speaker 9 (01:07:29):
The Brewers and the Dodgers are gonna start in about
forty minutes or so, and there's gonna be a change
in the lineup today. Fellas shoe O Tawni is going
to about second for the Dodgers today.
Speaker 3 (01:07:39):
As long as he bats. As long as he bats,
you're bat where he bats.
Speaker 9 (01:07:43):
He's batting in a second and marking the first time.
Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
That he is not again.
Speaker 9 (01:07:47):
Mooki is back in the lineup and is leading off
and is leading off.
Speaker 1 (01:07:55):
Like eight nine. I just I just move them around.
Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
Just because I could do it, because I have you do.
Speaker 1 (01:08:03):
That's so yeah, I got I mean you don't.
Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
By the way, I just found this out.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
Scotty Scheffer actually made more money winning the Memorial Tournament
see than either the PGA Championship or the Open champion
He made four million to win the Memorial, three point
four million to win the PGA, three point one million
to win the Open.
Speaker 3 (01:08:20):
And I just looked this up. If where's it tax?
Speaker 4 (01:08:22):
I wanted to know where it's tax at and said,
whether or not the winners of the British Open or
subject the taxes the United States depends on the tax
residenty status of the golfer winning the prize money.
Speaker 3 (01:08:32):
That's why most of them live in Florida. Yeah, that's
why most of That's why I'm living Florida.
Speaker 9 (01:08:36):
Most date tax Yeah, A quick here. Other news that
you may have missed is that the Falcons former Falcons
starting quarterback Desmond Ritter is signing with the Bengals. The
Lakers have waived Shake Milton to make room for Marcus Smart.
Speaker 2 (01:08:50):
Okay, okay, okay, all right, thank you very much.
Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
That's three point It is low.
Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
I'm with EJ.
Speaker 1 (01:08:57):
That's I thought it was gonna be five. So by
the way I'm looking here, So he finished tied for
seventh at the US Open Scottie Scheffer, and for tide
for seven he got six hundred and fifteen thousand dollars.
Speaker 3 (01:09:09):
All right, that's cool, it's about right. Yea, it's about right.
Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
But at the Masters, by the way, he finished fourth
and he made a million.
Speaker 4 (01:09:16):
He finished out of a seventeen million dollar perse zo
point one out of the guy.
Speaker 3 (01:09:22):
That wins a major.
Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
Well again, this should be a percentage on majors.
Speaker 7 (01:09:27):
One of the.
Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Reasons, way back in the day, Americans did not even
show up for the what was then the British Open Soca.
Speaker 3 (01:09:34):
It was no money. Literally.
Speaker 2 (01:09:36):
The legendary story was Sam Snead, one of the all
time great golfers. In nineteen forty six, he went to
Saint Andrew's and won the Open championship and he was
handed the declared jug and they said, we can't wait
to see you next year.
Speaker 3 (01:09:48):
He goes, ain't coming back next year.
Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
He costs me more to get here than the checker
give him to go back. Yeah, so he didn't never
show it up again.
Speaker 3 (01:09:56):
All right, But let's get back to the fire, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:09:59):
Pick Well, sometimes you can condense stuff because there ain't
a lot to say, and when it has come to
the NFC South Okay, boy, I mean, we could probably
say a lot about something like the Falcons, but who
really wants to hear that at the end of the day.
So we'll go rapid fire on these. If you guys
want to stop and quibble with anything, let's at least
get the picks first and then the comments. Let's start Buccaneers.
(01:10:24):
Their total is at nine and a half, Steve over
under again. We'll get to comments after that. I just
want to know.
Speaker 2 (01:10:33):
I'm just I'm really I've been I know the number.
I've been staring at the number long before you gave
me the number, and I am really torn on this one.
Speaker 4 (01:10:41):
With Tampa, I'll jump off there over I like tennant seven.
I'll take tennant seven over. I like Baker.
Speaker 1 (01:10:50):
I love Baker. I don't just like Baker Mayfield. But
if you go over the course of his career, I
should have done this. There are tips I am going
to go under. All right. We'll come back to that
because clearly we have a lot to say in the Bucks,
but let's just get the other ones out of the way.
Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
The Saints five and a half under. Unless you're a
big believer in Tyler Shuck.
Speaker 1 (01:11:14):
Fully guaranteed contract. Baby under Panthers six and a half over,
This is love over.
Speaker 3 (01:11:22):
They're gonna win the visit everybody.
Speaker 1 (01:11:24):
Everybody is going over on this one and again, is
it premature?
Speaker 7 (01:11:33):
Be why?
Speaker 3 (01:11:35):
I'm telling you got it? Six and a half and
a half.
Speaker 1 (01:11:39):
They got them some weapons.
Speaker 3 (01:11:40):
Right on the number.
Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
These guys know what they're doing, and they do seven
and ten, six and eleven. What am I feeling? Seven
and ten, six and eleven?
Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
How about nine and eight? I feel you're gonna be
sweating this for the entire year of Red Zone radio.
Speaker 3 (01:11:54):
Well, there's still one more team.
Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
I'm gonna go under, okay, Falcons seven and a half?
Oh really? Oh yeah, I'm a bit, I'm a I am.
I'm all in on Michael.
Speaker 4 (01:12:07):
Leit great defense, and he's got weapons to get the
ball to. Let's not act like he doesn't. He's got
a tight end. He's got a receiver, and he's got
a running back and he's got a tight end. I
another tightens he's going over as well.
Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
Yeah, all right, see that's okay. So so where do
we start with this? Do you Well, let's start with
do you want to start with the Falcons.
Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
No, I'm going to start with the Falcons, who I
think at this point are going to win that division.
Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
You know, the Kirk Cousins situation last.
Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
Year was bizarre, right, and then he got hurt again
and just sort of went sideways.
Speaker 3 (01:12:38):
I'm into Panix.
Speaker 2 (01:12:39):
He got my Heisman vote top vote two years ago
and I justified it over Jadon Daniels because he delivered
in the big games.
Speaker 3 (01:12:48):
He beat Oregon twice head ed against him.
Speaker 1 (01:12:50):
I'm not as high on Penis as you are, but
I am a giant Drake London believer.
Speaker 3 (01:12:54):
Yeah, well I'm a bit.
Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
I feel like.
Speaker 3 (01:12:59):
What we're talking about.
Speaker 2 (01:13:00):
As a division where the division winner is gonna win
no more than ten games, right, all right, that's that's
the ceiling right there.
Speaker 3 (01:13:06):
But I'll give you something about this division and Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (01:13:09):
Yes, it's Tampa Bay and Baker Mainfield's record of every every.
Speaker 1 (01:13:14):
Once in a while having one of those years like
what happens. That is a good defense in Tampa. I
know they just lost their D line coach, Elijah Cansi,
but like that's Vida Bay is just phenomenal. Like there's
so much there.
Speaker 4 (01:13:27):
This this division comes down to the last two weeks.
Three teams are gonna be buying for this division. It's
gonna come out to Carolina, Tampa and Atlanta. Do not
sleep on Carolina.
Speaker 1 (01:13:37):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (01:13:37):
They run the football very well. They pretend they beat
up that offensive line to help out. Be why I've
been trying. I'm gonna stay on it until prove it
all be. Why is the guy There's a reason why
he was drafted number one overall. The guy is a professional.
The kid can sling it. This kid is mobile, he
moves around. He was behind the worst offensive line in
(01:13:59):
football other than my big loving Miami Dolphins last year.
Speaker 2 (01:14:01):
And the fact and that he survived, survived this whole
too small crown.
Speaker 4 (01:14:05):
He's smart to get down. He knows how to get down.
He knows how to just go once again. Put the
tape on. Watch when he feels pressure. Bryce Young, he
knows he's not Cam Newton. He knows he's not Mike Vick.
He knows he's not Lamar Lamar Jackson. He this kid
and got weapons. Now, man, I'm telling you, guys, look
at what they've done with this team, and they had
a very good draft.
Speaker 1 (01:14:26):
It was definitely a slower burn than someone like CJ. Stroud.
He came out real strong his first year and then
had the sophomore slump, whereas young got better.
Speaker 4 (01:14:34):
Well, his saw the day with the thing, the day
with the Texas, the one wants to really talk about.
He was just on a better team. The Texans were
a better team than Carolina. Carolina's owner the year before
was throwing drakes on people. Okay, the coach got fired.
They bringing the offense coordinated from Tampa.
Speaker 1 (01:14:48):
That got our guy.
Speaker 4 (01:14:49):
Baker paid one hundred million dollars and turned his career around.
In Tampa, they bring him as the head coach. It
takes a year, guys, to rid the trash and to
get your guys and then get your coarderie, your voice,
your style, your system.
Speaker 3 (01:15:05):
It takes.
Speaker 4 (01:15:05):
That's what makes Harball feel great because Harball shows up
and it happens most coaches, it takes years.
Speaker 1 (01:15:11):
I'm telling you, guys, watch Carolina this year again.
Speaker 3 (01:15:14):
The coach to me is still, uh, we'll see.
Speaker 9 (01:15:16):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:15:17):
The one thing I think we're all in agreement is
that the Saints are at the bottom of the They
don't have any talk about them. They don't have a
don't have a damn team you.
Speaker 3 (01:15:26):
Don't think is gonna have a breakout too. I should
have moved out with Kamar and just got some more
bucks this quick.
Speaker 1 (01:15:32):
Not because of Baker Mayfield too, but like the defense
is really more than anything else. Like Mike Evans is
still a top receiver.
Speaker 4 (01:15:39):
Baker and Baker Mayfield the one throwing them the football. Mike,
Mike Evans is the first ballot Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (01:15:46):
Oh my goodness, he's not close.
Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
You don't know the Hall of Fame by saying that
spell Hall of Famer wide receiver. There's only been a
handful Jerry Rice, Steve Large and Mike Evans is not bad.
He's not even gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:15:58):
Get close time change, he'll be a Hall of Famer.
Speaker 2 (01:16:01):
First of all, look at guys already that there's still
waiting again in the Hall of Fame. Tory Holts had
a better grid of Mike Evans didn't. Yeah years to play, you.
Speaker 3 (01:16:11):
Got about a thousand yards.
Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
Due the math, what is a thousand divided by seventeen
who who's.
Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
Not even barely sixty yards a game? You would you
would take Tory hole over Mike Evans.
Speaker 2 (01:16:22):
Yes, he had a better a more dominant receiver, absolutely receiver.
Speaker 3 (01:16:27):
He was looking at numbers. Look at the numbers.
Speaker 1 (01:16:31):
Playing with Isaac Brooks.
Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
Mike Evans is like Harold Baines, He's like Jim Cott.
He's a guy that plays a long time. Never led
the league in anything ever, never led the league in
yards touch, that's nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:16:46):
I'll take Mike Evans over Tory Hole. Not light Tory Hoe,
but Mike Evans is a guy. You're talking about ten
straight years of.
Speaker 3 (01:16:51):
A thousand, thousand yards is averaging sixty yards for game?
Speaker 1 (01:16:55):
Okay, here we go, here we go now.
Speaker 4 (01:16:56):
Okay, so just don't tell me about anymore. I don't
want to hear about thousand yard receivers anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:17:02):
I'll say, I don't know why I died a thousand,
But if you're talking thirteen fourteen hundred yards receiving, now
we can talk.
Speaker 7 (01:17:08):
Man.
Speaker 2 (01:17:08):
Yeah, look at what he was doing. Look at Andre Johnson,
what had taken four or five tries to get in?
Look at his numbers compared to Mike Evans. Come on,
not even close.
Speaker 1 (01:17:17):
I'll take what Evan's over Andre Johnson. Okay, no you don't.
Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
You're just saying things now. No, I'm not just saying things.
Speaker 1 (01:17:25):
Come on, come on, I've been working with you too long.
Speaker 2 (01:17:28):
Please please. I never say anything to sensationalize.
Speaker 9 (01:17:32):
Never, never.
Speaker 3 (01:17:33):
This is about Kobe, all right, thank you say I
got that Kobe. I felt that was personal for me.
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:17:41):
Coming up on the others, we continue on with more
NFL noise. This is Fox Sports Sunday, Harman and Husky
here in the Fox Sports Radio studios. Hey, be sure
to check out Fox Sports Radio's YouTube channel. A ton
of great videos from many of our Fox Sports Radio shows.
Speaker 3 (01:17:58):
Just search Fox Sports Radio on YouTube.
Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
It's a whole bunch of video highlights from our shows.
And be sure to subscribe so you always have instant
access to our Fox Sports Radio videos on YouTube. The
only interesting thing to me about preseason football, well, there's
a couple of things. The Hall of Fame ceremonies are
always good, and it's going to be a much smaller
class this year, as should be. Yeah, only four inductees.
(01:18:25):
I mean we've had seven and eight inductees and they
cut it way back this year, including one of my
favorite people that I've ever crossed paths with in my career,
and that's Eric Allen. Eric Allen is one of the
time great guys. I never thought he would. He's gonna
get his due, and to me, he was underrated. Talk
(01:18:45):
about a beneficiary of the Buddy Ryan defense back in
the day. But he absolutely gets in. Jared Allen gets
in obviously. Antonio Gates, you know, whose career record for
touchdown receptions by a tight end will never be broken,
should have been first ballot, should have been a first
ballot guy first. And then Sterling Sharp, who again was
a dominant player, who again was All Pro multiple times
(01:19:09):
twice at the NFL record for most.
Speaker 3 (01:19:11):
Reception of the season.
Speaker 2 (01:19:12):
His last year he had eighteen touchdowns, and he got
the neck injury that prematurely ended his career. That's what
I'm looking for. Were you dominant when he played? Sterling
Sharp was dominant when.
Speaker 4 (01:19:21):
He played, and he paid on all those bad Packer
teams or dom average and then he gets to think
about it, he gets the neck injury, and then guys
like Antonio Freeman and Desmond Howard and Dorsey Levins come
in there with Brett and they go on and go
beat the patron of the Super Bowl. He misses out.
I thought Sterling should have been in. I think that
(01:19:43):
I think that that was a late call. What's at
Sterling should have been in?
Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
This is late.
Speaker 1 (01:19:47):
It was late.
Speaker 2 (01:19:48):
In fact, he gets in, he gets in the Senior
Committee wasn't even a this is but again that's you know,
it was another guy that the Senior Committee put in.
That was personal for me because I was UCLA when
he was at UCLA, Kenny easily who was dominant, and
then he had kidney failure that prematurely ended his career.
Finally they got him in as a senior canonate. I
(01:20:09):
remember talking to Kenny on the air sharing back our
UCLA days.
Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
But that's the whole point.
Speaker 2 (01:20:15):
In other words, to meet Hall of Fame, you have
to be dominant. You at some point you have to
have been recognized as the best at your position. How
else can you gauge whether or not someone's in the
Hall of Fame unless at some point you were the
best or top two?
Speaker 3 (01:20:32):
Yes, somebody is.
Speaker 1 (01:20:34):
The late Art Monk was another late one. For my
opinion today, it's like, Eli, man, are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (01:20:38):
Top day?
Speaker 1 (01:20:39):
Was he ever? Top ten quarterback in the league? O?
Speaker 2 (01:20:43):
Living it up right here on another beautiful Sunday Fox
Sports Sunday, we are in the Fox Sports Radio studios
coming up here in about twenty minutes. Our dear friend
John Paul Morosi's going to be joining us talk from
MLB as we get into the second half of the season.
Next us a stat that he posted on his ex
(01:21:05):
account that is a very interesting stat. So we're going
to share that with you when John Paul Morosi joins us.
Speaker 1 (01:21:12):
So I just saw the text in our group chat.
Speaker 3 (01:21:14):
Yeah, I just saw that. Yeah, it's a it's a
crazy stat.
Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
So we'll share it when JP comes on to talk
about a very interesting stack going into Hey. As you know,
speaking of Major League Baseball, obviously we got the trade
deadline coming up right, and so we're you know, we
talk about July thirty first being the day of the
first preseason game, the Hall of Fame game in the NFL,
it's also the trade deadline in Major League Baseball, and
(01:21:39):
it's gonna it's this is that difficult time of the
year where you because you have three wild card teams,
you sort of have to ask yourself, are we legit?
Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
Are we buyers? Are we sellers?
Speaker 2 (01:21:51):
Remember a couple of years ago with the Angels, what
happened with Shohey so they were sitting there like barely
on the fringe, like barely on the fringe, and they
knew that he was a walk away free agent at
the end of the year, and so there was that question,
should we trade show Hey? And I remember the last
(01:22:12):
second they decided no, We're still in this and then
they lost seven straight games, right and not so, not
only the season go down the drain, but obviously show
Hey walks away and they get.
Speaker 3 (01:22:26):
Nothing for him.
Speaker 1 (01:22:27):
Well, I mean show nothing. I mean, I mean show
Hey was leaving anyway.
Speaker 4 (01:22:30):
That was a bunch of stubborn You could have gotten
something for him. That was That was front office stubbornness.
We feel like listen, I was one that said I
wouldn't trade him. I was on the wrong side, but
I was one that said I wouldn't trade him, and
I'd put an eight hundred million dollar contract in front.
Speaker 3 (01:22:45):
Of him and call his bluff.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Put an eight hundred million, eight hundred You know, if
you put eight hundred million, the Dodgers would have topped
eight hundred million.
Speaker 1 (01:22:54):
The Dodgers are going to pay.
Speaker 3 (01:22:55):
Whatever it took to get him.
Speaker 4 (01:22:56):
I mean what they paid seven hundred seven fifty for
them to put eight hundred up to put the millions matters.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
It ain't fifty dollars, so let me a million. The
Dodgers game seven hundred million.
Speaker 1 (01:23:05):
But you said if the Angels have given him eight
hundred million, The Dodgers have said that, you can. Hell,
they would not have gone over eight hundred million.
Speaker 3 (01:23:11):
No way they They've already gotten a return on Well.
Speaker 4 (01:23:16):
I mean, here's the thing. The series last year because
of him. They didn't win it last year because of him.
Speaker 3 (01:23:23):
Well he did. He had a bad World Series, that's
for sure, because he was hurt. But they've gotten there.
Speaker 4 (01:23:27):
We've the Dodgers have been the dominant NL team.
Speaker 3 (01:23:30):
Forget the note over the last five years.
Speaker 2 (01:23:32):
Put away, put even the fifty to fifty okay, even
put that away. You don't think that they're getting their
money's worth out of show?
Speaker 4 (01:23:40):
Hey a Tani, I don't think it really matters, right,
I mean, if you go up into where I've been,
there was it four times this year the Dodgers press box.
Speaker 3 (01:23:47):
Yeah, you have a you have a been, I've been there.
Speaker 1 (01:23:49):
It's been everything.
Speaker 4 (01:23:51):
Everything's changed, everything's changed. We don't go at gotta say everything.
I mean, the good thank you, misster Jim Hill for
letting have your seat.
Speaker 1 (01:23:58):
Yes, Jim gave me. Gave me.
Speaker 4 (01:24:00):
He broke out it about the second and third end
because he had to do TV.
Speaker 3 (01:24:03):
He did the little whistle and pointed to me and pointed.
Speaker 1 (01:24:07):
To his chair because he sees me at the Laker games.
Speaker 7 (01:24:08):
The charge.
Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
I mean, he's given me compliments.
Speaker 4 (01:24:11):
I love the respect that I have for him, and
then the admiration he sees for a young guy by
myself coming through the business.
Speaker 3 (01:24:16):
I got to see though I sat.
Speaker 4 (01:24:18):
In Jim Hill see before before that, though, I was
standing up.
Speaker 1 (01:24:21):
But you, you and I both have been up there.
Speaker 4 (01:24:23):
We know we're talking about if you're asking me or
they're getting their return on their money, I might be
on the outside with this man. The Dodgers didn't need them.
They were getting to World Series. He wasn't the reason
why they don't.
Speaker 3 (01:24:34):
Think he takes some next level internationally.
Speaker 2 (01:24:37):
Come on, you know what, That's got nothing to do
with the world Baseball star on the b That's.
Speaker 4 (01:24:42):
Got nothing to do with them winning the World Series,
him being in the.
Speaker 2 (01:24:48):
First legitimate World Series wins since thirteen eighty eight.
Speaker 4 (01:24:52):
True, I don't count the bubble one just like the
Laker Bubble champions much a bubble that was a third
of a season. That's all they played games. I mean,
it's less than one hundred games of what you play.
That's like the NFL played five games and you're telling
me the Super Bowl count play.
Speaker 2 (01:25:06):
They played a nine game season in nineteen eighty two
Redskins won the Super Bowl. That's right, Yeah, seven games
are canceled because of the strike strike. The only played
nine out of sixteen games.
Speaker 3 (01:25:15):
Think about the replacement player year. Also to the thing, right,
five years, right, so sorry for that.
Speaker 2 (01:25:21):
In those years, how many by the way, by the way,
the then Redskins won both of those.
Speaker 1 (01:25:25):
Right, thank you?
Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
And how many times do people run around and champ
Man that eighty two Redskins team?
Speaker 2 (01:25:32):
No, John Reagans, non over the Dolphins.
Speaker 3 (01:25:36):
Oh that's why you're upsecond. It ran over your Dolphins.
Speaker 1 (01:25:39):
Right No?
Speaker 3 (01:25:39):
Oh no, listen, fourth and one, we had a shot
to get them. I couldn't stop.
Speaker 4 (01:25:43):
It couldn't stop. Hey, that's rigo. I'm not mad, listen.
I'm never mad when a great player beats my team.
That like sometimes Dan Tony is one of my favorite
lines going in the half, you know, and they stopped.
Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
The coaching right before halftime.
Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
And how does that affect you that your beloved Dolphins
have never won a Super Bowl in your lifetime?
Speaker 1 (01:26:02):
It kills me.
Speaker 4 (01:26:04):
I've seen my New York Rangers win the Cup. Two
years ago. I poured champagne on myself in my living room.
My wife looked at me like I was out of
my damn mind when a towel on the floor because
my Texas Rangers finally broke through. I've seen my Tar
Hills hang many of banners. I've seen Michigan hang banners. Yeah,
(01:26:25):
and I've seen I've seen Serena Tiger and Nadal, Jeff Gordon,
all my favorite athletes, Rashie Wallace, I've seen all Kobe,
I've seen them all win. I have never, ever in
my lifetime even seen the Dolphins win. I've seen them
playing one, but they got their asses what I've seen
(01:26:47):
them playing one. But if you don't think that, it
kills me to this day. And I'm gonna tell y'all
this right now, Stie, I'm gonna let you know right
now breaking news. If the Dolphins win, win, win, not
if win the Dolphins win the Super Bowl. If you
think I'm on bearable. Now if you think I'm unbearable.
Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
Now, okay, first of all, I'm gonna act like that
one five in a row. I guarantee I'm already on
the record. Whatever we find we whatever our final over
under is on Dolphin Wins, is gonna be under under
the show.
Speaker 4 (01:27:18):
No, you, we've already gone there. You said they'll be lucky.
You're gonna be shop You're sick. You're gonna be shopping
for a new coach next. No, no, no, Now, I'll
be honest with you. If this year goes five hundred
nine and eight, you're right, And I, as a fan,
would say, Okay, it didn't work, it didn't work.
Speaker 3 (01:27:36):
I'm not a guy to hold on to the coach.
Speaker 1 (01:27:39):
Let me ask you this question. I love my teams
too much.
Speaker 3 (01:27:41):
All right, that's fine. So you turn the page. Where
which which direction.
Speaker 2 (01:27:44):
Are you going in hiring a new coach if it
doesn't work out this year direction? I mean, they've tied
a lot of different You know what you try to do,
You try to get Nick saving.
Speaker 3 (01:27:55):
There's all these rumors flying.
Speaker 4 (01:27:57):
I heard the Nick seven would go right, would go
back go back to Miami?
Speaker 2 (01:28:03):
Would you take Nick Saban to be the coach again
on the Miami Dolphins.
Speaker 1 (01:28:07):
No, man, I just think it's just too old right now.
Speaker 3 (01:28:09):
What do you mean too old?
Speaker 1 (01:28:11):
You know?
Speaker 3 (01:28:11):
Does a man understand?
Speaker 4 (01:28:13):
Come on, Pete Carroll can get away with it because
he's been in the league. Nick Saban had a shot.
Speaker 2 (01:28:18):
Nick Saban was a defensive toail tailing r Okay, So
if you bring Saban hypothetically speaking, if you bring Saban,
you gotta tell me who's on his staff because he's.
Speaker 4 (01:28:28):
Not gonna be there, gonna get the top staff. Okay,
he's not gonna be He's not gonna be there long.
But to answer your question, I would be thinking, you.
Speaker 3 (01:28:35):
Don't think I would welcome back his former coach?
Speaker 4 (01:28:38):
Yeah, I mean just not him. Jaylen Waddle played under
him too. But I would bring in a defensive mind,
a tough nose type of coach, and then go find the.
Speaker 3 (01:28:47):
Best available offensive.
Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
Because you still have to have an all I understand
that that was the best offensive coordinator and cutting whatever check.
We know that he understands defense. Nick Sabans won the
all time great and he showed that in his in
the NFL with the Cleveland Browns way back in the day.
Speaker 3 (01:29:04):
Of working with Bill Belichick.
Speaker 4 (01:29:06):
But someone's getting fired this year, so there's gonna be
coaches available.
Speaker 2 (01:29:09):
Well, it's every year five or six. You know, you're
guaranteed you like Atlanta. But let's just hypothetically say Atlanta
just for some reason, some reason, just he's stayed around
the firing light, no question, right, So for some reason
they just go five and twelve.
Speaker 4 (01:29:25):
Just maybe injuries kill him. Maybe Pinnix just doesn't pick up.
Maybe Drake Lennon, maybe Chris got Drake. Maybe Drake London
hasn't ended. Something just goes awry. There are Murian Morse
is gone. Of course, that would be a guy I
would be chanting from the rooftops for Steven Ross.
Speaker 3 (01:29:43):
They gets it.
Speaker 2 (01:29:44):
There's only one division right now where all the four
coaches are safe, and that's the AFC West.
Speaker 3 (01:29:50):
No matter what happened, no matter what happens, none of
those guys they're gonna get fired.
Speaker 4 (01:29:53):
Those guys get None of those guys get fired in
the next three years, right, None, None of those guys
are getting fired in the next three Yeah, you got
some coaches, that's I mean, who knows.
Speaker 3 (01:30:03):
Andy Reid may decide to walk away. Oh yeah, it's different. Yeah,
that's difference being fired. None. Andy Reid will leave Kansas
City when Andy Reid is ready to.
Speaker 1 (01:30:12):
No one has more job security than Sean Payton.
Speaker 2 (01:30:15):
I mean the deal he signed with Denver and gives
him complete control Andy Reid.
Speaker 3 (01:30:20):
All those coaches, all four of them.
Speaker 4 (01:30:23):
Who's ushering Pete Carroll off the door in the next Okay,
Mark Davis has not is this family? You can't believe
he got Pete Carroll? The Chargers front office, are they
j Okay? The league Denver you're talked about, talked about
Denver and Andy Reid. He could coach there for the
next eight years if he wants to.
Speaker 2 (01:30:41):
They're not firing. He will never get fired. That's what
we said about Belichick.
Speaker 3 (01:30:46):
He got fired.
Speaker 4 (01:30:47):
But Belichick ran, listen, when you run off the goat,
when you run off the goat.
Speaker 3 (01:30:53):
And now as the owner, now I'm now I'm pissed.
Belichick got fired. Now, man, he says, we mutually parted
of the way.
Speaker 4 (01:31:00):
I let you think about it, think about if you're
to owner, just let's paint this picture really fest I
go first. Second, you're the owner, I let you be prickly.
I let you take the fun away from these guys
because you kept winning and you kept having and you
kept me in AFC championship games, a few divisional losses,
but we never got knocked out of the wildcard. We
ran this division for fifteen years. You kept me win
and I let you be prickly. But I told you
(01:31:20):
that this guy was like my son. I said it,
and you wanted to fight that. And I could win
with anybody.
Speaker 3 (01:31:29):
This guy walked with him win and won a Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (01:31:32):
You damn right, you gotta go now, Absolutely, you gotta go.
Speaker 3 (01:31:37):
All right, So right off.
Speaker 1 (01:31:38):
The goat, Yeah, no, the Hunt family is not going
to be firing Anny Read at any point.
Speaker 3 (01:31:43):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
Coming up on the other side, we're gonna break down
a very very interesting baseball stat with.
Speaker 3 (01:31:49):
The one and only John Paul Morose.
Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
See this is Fox Sports Sunday, Harbin and Husky Fox
Sports Sunday. We're in the Fox Sports Radios studios once again,
an honor, a pleasure to bring in a man on
top of his game, the best of the best, elite.
Speaker 1 (01:32:11):
Amongst the elite, the.
Speaker 2 (01:32:13):
Great John Palmer, Rosie JP is Johnny us right now,
and you know JP. Before we get into sort of
the nuts and bolts, especially the stat that you floated
to us. So we're sitting here in our studio and
Vj's like, what baseball game is this?
Speaker 3 (01:32:32):
I go, that's the Savannah Bananas.
Speaker 2 (01:32:35):
They're at a packed Fenway Park, just like they were
in a packed Angels Stadium, the only two sell us
all year at Angel Stadium where the two games played
by the Savannah Bananas. Can you give us a little
insight into the phenom the phenomenon that is the Savannah Banana.
Speaker 7 (01:32:53):
Please well, Steve and VJ. Good afternoon. Always look forward
to this conversation every week. Happy start to the second half.
I am fascinated by the Savannah Bananas. They are, to
put it very simply, they are the Harlem Globetrotters of baseball.
There are some acrobatics, there's some humor. There's also a
(01:33:17):
lot of athleticism. These are excellent ballplayers and it's all
part of the show. It's amazing how baseball it's almost
impossible to script it, and yet there is just a
really unique way in which these games unfold with the
Bananas play against the Firemen, and the firemen are also
(01:33:38):
very talented, so it's just it's a really unique overall product.
There's a reason why these ballparks. Major League ballparks are
sold out, and in fact they sell out NFL stadiums
where people want to watch the Savannah Bananas play. So
that was even the case, I believe in nash Tennessee.
(01:34:00):
They were playing at the Titan Stadium there in Nashville.
So it's a great product. I will admit I have
not actually seen them live in person. I have watched
some highlights of their games, but I admire greatly the
way in which they remind us that baseball is supposed
to be fun. That's very good, and also how they
(01:34:23):
do incorporate very special members of those markets, where being
at Fenway, they'll welcome back some Red Sox players. When
they were in Cincinnati, they welcome back Sean Casey. I
know he heard his hamstring in the process, which is always,
of course, an occupational hazard. But in general, they put
on a great show, and I for one, am thrilled
(01:34:46):
that they are really, I think, reviving and helping to
continue the passion for baseball among more general sports fans
who are not normally part of the baseball tent. However,
you get to the Baseball tent. I am eager to
embrace you and welcome you, and so I say the
Savannah Bananas and MLB they deserve the handshake emoji because
(01:35:12):
maybe the Savannah bananas have have helped inspire a bit
of what we saw at the end of the All
Star Game on Tuesday night, which I also say, indeed,
my friends, was great for baseball.
Speaker 1 (01:35:23):
Gonna we're gonna disagree on that.
Speaker 4 (01:35:24):
I'm gonna talk about the Savannah bananas right now because
I'm sitting here watching this game and I'm a showman man.
Speaker 3 (01:35:30):
I love the strut when.
Speaker 4 (01:35:31):
I do stand up and I'm performing on stage, I
dance on stage. I'm very interactive when I'm doing personal trainer,
I'm when I'm doing anything bro, I'm about the show.
And I'm watching the umpire dude shoulder shimmys when he's
college strikes the pitchers doing the stinking leg when he
struck the dude out. This is my first time ever
(01:35:52):
sing this, my first time ever seeing this, hearing about this,
and I'm hooked already. And I just turned to Steve
doing commercial, say when do they come to LA They.
Speaker 3 (01:36:03):
Were just here, they were.
Speaker 7 (01:36:11):
It is amazing. It is amazing. Actually, I had friends
of mine who are not necessarily dial in Major League
Baseball fans. They drove four hours from Michigan to Cincinnati
to watch this show. It's a show, and you use
the right word, BJ. It is a show and it
(01:36:31):
is a reminder of what sports are supposed to be.
Sports are supposed to delight you, get you out of
your seat, make you high five the person next to you,
and leave smiling. And I think in a lot of
ways we forget a little bit of that. We get
a little too competitive, uh as Americans at times about
(01:36:52):
what we're supposed to be doing. And by the way,
that's actually included in youth sports. It's amazing that we had.
There was an interview with Billy Wagner on Friday in
advance of this Hall of Fame induction, which is one
week from today. The when we speak next Sunday, I'll
be in Cooperstown having this conversation with you. And Billy
Wagner was at a travel ball tournament and he basically said,
(01:37:14):
we have gotten way too serious in travel ball. We're
trying to create twelve year old professionals and a lot
of it's the parents who are driving it, we don't
do this, and so I think the Savannah Bananas, I
would say, VJ and Steve, they arrived. They have arrived
to the American sports ecosystem at exactly the moment when
(01:37:37):
we need them. They are reminding us that there are
enough channels of life, whether in our own relationships, in
our own minds, or on television or social media. There's
enough seriousness out there if you want it. Sports are
supposed to be the escape from the series. And yes,
sports gives us chances to talk about important social issues
(01:38:00):
and we should understand that. But the foundational element of
this is entertainment and connection. And we should remember that
the Savannah Bananas, the Harlem Globetrotters, which by the way,
Ferguson Jenkins, in between throwing three hundred innings a year
for the Chicago Cubs, would go play for the Globetrotters
and have fun with meadowlark women, which is why we
(01:38:23):
love sports to begin with.
Speaker 2 (01:38:24):
Yeah, Bob Gibson was also a member of the Harlem
Globe Tracts back in the day. Absolutely all right, So
you mentioned the All Star Game and history was made.
Kyle Schwarber became the first non pitcher to be named
the MVP of the All Star Game and go hitless
in the game.
Speaker 1 (01:38:44):
Hitless, he was.
Speaker 3 (01:38:45):
Zero for two in the game.
Speaker 2 (01:38:47):
He hit three home runs off a batting practice pitcher,
and he gets the MVP. We talk about again the
non seriousness of the Savannah Bananas. I guess that translates
to the All Star Game. This was a real good game,
but the ending to me was awful. I mean, I
am I'm sorry JP that ending to that game. You know,
(01:39:11):
the American Lenk rally from a six to nothing deficit,
they tie the game up. I'm ready for extras and
I'm like a home run hitting contest? Are you kidding me?
That's the way this is going to end. I'm a
baseball fan. I want to see a legit conclusion to
what had been up until that time a very compelling game.
Speaker 7 (01:39:31):
Well, we'll probably have to agree to disagree on this
one because I did love it, and I loved it
because of a variety of reasons. It created an indelible
memory that will make people talk about this All Star
Game and a fun and I believe light way for
a long long time to come. You've got a chance
(01:39:52):
to see the personality of the players. And by the way,
some of those that were involved in the derby are
not necessarily household names, but more people now know Brent
Rooker and Stours and Aaranda. These are players that don't
always get the spotlight. And of course Kyle Schwarber, who's
basically Captain America. He's like a superhero and what he
(01:40:14):
did three homers and three swings is an extraordinarily difficult feat.
And so did it come against the batting practice pitcher, Sure,
but that is part of the home run derby on Monday.
That's part of showcasing the talents of these players. And
(01:40:35):
remember we are not deciding home field advantage or a
regular season game as part of this. The All Star
Game is meant to be fun. And the other part
of it that is the reason why the swing off occurs,
is that it allows the managers to use all of their
pitchers and get them all into the game, as opposed
(01:40:56):
to having a roles as chatman on that a billion
mile hour fastball sitting in the bullpen because you've got
to keep someone in reserve, You manage the game. You
get everybody in because that's fun and entertaining for the
different fan bases, and then at the end you have
a fun If you want to call it a gimmick, fine,
I suppose it meets the definition of a gimmick. It
is a one time thing meant for fun and entertainment.
(01:41:20):
If that's a gimmick, I'll take it as a gimmick,
and I thought it was a really interesting way to
end it. I do not believe that it will or
should ever be part of the regular season, because I
don't think that you should take the accuracy of your
batting practice pitcher to be something that would determine a
major league regular season game. But because it's an exhibition,
which is by the way, as it should be and
(01:41:41):
no longer determining home field advantage, I was totally great
with it. If this was a game that had anything
to do with helping to decide a champion, I would
share your aversion to it, but as a one night only, fun,
entertaining aspect of baseball, much like the Savannah Bananas. Bring
it up, my friends, Hartman.
Speaker 4 (01:42:01):
And Husky Fox Sports Ready, you're here on Sunday. We
have the great JP Morosi, r m LB insider here
Withrow on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:42:08):
I'll throw one tea.
Speaker 7 (01:42:09):
Bet you.
Speaker 3 (01:42:09):
I've been holding off on my Rangers for about a month.
Speaker 1 (01:42:11):
Haven't asked you.
Speaker 4 (01:42:12):
Any questions, but they seem they seem to be kind
of warming up. I kept telling you, listen, I'll talk
to you again at the All Star break. The All
Star break to me is where we kind of get
to see who's gonna shift down and who's gonna shift up.
And they make some moves last week, bring some some
guys in. I know the trade deadline's coming up this week.
Take three out of four from the Astros. Got a
chance to sweep the Tigers. Sweep your beloved Tigers today.
Speaker 1 (01:42:33):
Do you see a move?
Speaker 4 (01:42:34):
They can make seven out of first place, three out
of the wildcard. And I'm not panicking. I haven't pandiced
all season. Am I feeling good about my Rangers moving
forward right now the at least maybe possibly grab the
wild card, especially while the Mariners in the Astros are
in the weekend till themselves this weekend, which can also
help us understand is in the als.
Speaker 7 (01:42:53):
No, you're great. It's a great point, Bjay. They're they're
in the mix. And I did not think guy would
be saying that about the Rangers. But they are solidly
in the mix. They've got a lot of championship know
how already on that team, just two and a half
games out of a wild card spot, and not just
the distance out of a wild card spot, but only
one additional team behind that third wild card spot. So
(01:43:16):
they basically just have to pass two teams that are
both within two and a half games of them over
the final two months plus of the season. That is doable.
That is makeable for this team. And so I would say,
add maybe one more outfield bat, and there's not as
many bats available as there are. That's where I would
(01:43:38):
look at it. And I know that third base has
been a question. Young was sent to the minor leagues.
But if I was them, I would look at adding
one more starting pitcher. It could even be a rental
someone like Adavon Marquez with the Colorado Rockies, Adrianhauser with
the Chicago White Sox. There are a number of teams
out there that I do believe will make their pitching available.
(01:43:58):
Andrew Heeni with the Pittsburgh Pirates, who of course the
Rangers know him well. There are enough guys out there
that I believe the Rangers should be able to add
a starting pitcher and maybe even add someone who's controllable.
That would allow you to start working on next year's rotation.
Speaker 3 (01:44:15):
Two.
Speaker 7 (01:44:15):
So for me, in a way that I did not expect,
I would say, DJ, they are a buyer right now
with ten days before the deadline, and of course they've
got a really intriguing matchup tonight National TV against the
great Eric Scouble the Rangers back.
Speaker 1 (01:44:33):
You tell Schoogle to come get it, Jeffe.
Speaker 3 (01:44:37):
We got to get the number in.
Speaker 2 (01:44:38):
This is the final thing here JP on this Sunday,
four point five to three.
Speaker 3 (01:44:44):
That is a number that John.
Speaker 1 (01:44:46):
Morosi, as he calls himself there as always JP.
Speaker 3 (01:44:49):
Was post it on X.
Speaker 2 (01:44:53):
That is the number of innings per game for the Dodgers'
rotation in twenty twenty five, dead last in Major League Baseball.
You also brought up the point the last year they
finished with the sixth viewist innings per game the rotation
and ended up winning a World Series. So, as a
Dodgers fan or a Dodger fan listening out there, are
(01:45:13):
you trying to make them feel good that, By the way,
not only does that mean that the starters are averaging
the fewest innings per game. That means that their bullpen
has had the most innings per game. Are they to
feel good about this number based on what happened a
year ago.
Speaker 7 (01:45:30):
It's a great question, Steve, and I would say this,
they can feel good about it if they do what
they did a year ago and add an impact starting
pitcher in Jack Flaerty, and that was what of course
they did that. I'm not saying clarity now because the
Tigers would not want to trade him at this moment,
but that's the type of move they have to make
because they had thought that by the way they designed
(01:45:53):
their roster, they would not need to go out and
get a starting pitcher. But they've had so many injury
worries to this point that they probably have no choice
but to have to invest in one more start, or
at least one more swingman. It's remarkable that number that
you cited, Steven, that we talked about earlier today from
last year, that was actually the lowest number of innings
(01:46:17):
per start by any rotation in the history of the
game that went on to reach the World Series in
a full season. Lowest ever. Now, there's I guess two
ways to look at it. Number One, it's an outlier
number two. Hey, it made it work last year and
we did okay, Well, it only worked last year because
they got Flaherty and also Steve and VJ. The interesting
(01:46:38):
thing is they're even getting one fewer out per game
now than they did a year ago. It's not exact,
of course, but it basically works out. The point three
to three is one out per inning of that average,
and it's actually a lower average than it was a
year ago. So they've got some work to do. My friends,
the Dodgers, they keep winning ball games. But I just
(01:47:01):
do wonder how sustainable is it? And I think it
speaks to why so many teams believe right now Stephen
BJ it is a wide open path to the World
Series for a lot of teams. Makes it very interesting.
Ahead of the trade deadline on July thirty.
Speaker 2 (01:47:16):
First, all right, well, next Sunday, we're gonna load up,
load up on.
Speaker 3 (01:47:20):
Trade deadline talk with John Paul Morosi.
Speaker 1 (01:47:23):
JP.
Speaker 2 (01:47:23):
We always appreciate the time. We'll check in with you
next week.
Speaker 7 (01:47:27):
I always enjoy the conversation with my friends. I look
forward to it every week, and yes, indeed, happy Hall
of Fame week coming up. It's gonna be a great one.
Speaker 3 (01:47:35):
There Vanna Bananas JP.
Speaker 7 (01:47:38):
Yes, I'll say I can get them with their own
exhibit BJ in the Hall of Fame when I'm there.
Speaker 2 (01:47:42):
Okay, there it is all right, the great John Paul Morosi.
All right, JP, thanks so much.
Speaker 1 (01:47:46):
Now let's find out what is trending as we welcome monsyback.
Speaker 3 (01:47:51):
Have you seen the Savannah Banana?
Speaker 1 (01:47:53):
Do you do you know this? Mine? Am I late?
You are very late. Way, It's fine.
Speaker 9 (01:47:58):
Your girl is gonna go see this Bana bananas in
September in San Diego.
Speaker 1 (01:48:04):
Okay, so you know what, why don't Why don't you?
Speaker 2 (01:48:06):
Why don't you take your kids to San Diego to
see the Savannah in September?
Speaker 1 (01:48:11):
Is my birthday? Mouth, I might just do that. I
will tell you.
Speaker 9 (01:48:13):
Apparently, it's very difficult to get tickets. I did not
get them for myself. Somebody got them that put their
name in a raffle to be selected to purchase tickets.
Speaker 1 (01:48:24):
Damn.
Speaker 9 (01:48:24):
It's like that, Like sellout is not a joke.
Speaker 1 (01:48:27):
Sell every place Fenway is literally.
Speaker 4 (01:48:30):
Open calling outside a ball in the outfield backflip the umpire,
I can't, I gotta I got.
Speaker 1 (01:48:42):
Like you know, get down, very.
Speaker 9 (01:48:46):
Surprised that you haven't made a TikTok video of.
Speaker 1 (01:48:49):
You being a Savanna banana. I signed, yes, this is
very confused.
Speaker 9 (01:48:54):
Uh, very no, it is like such a thing.
Speaker 3 (01:48:56):
Look into it.
Speaker 9 (01:48:57):
But I am only going because my work.
Speaker 1 (01:49:01):
Can I shout out to Kay? I just want to say,
is real quick. I used to live in Savannah for
five years. Grayson Stadium used to hold a single aid
baseball team there for the Mets on a good night.
That place five k capacity, five thousand people capacity was
maybe a third of the way full, right, And the
team what they've done made there to replace it is
selling out Fenway Headco and Stadium everywhere everywhere. It is
(01:49:23):
a thing. It is a thing.
Speaker 9 (01:49:24):
So I got very lucky. I'll be going in September late. Yes,
yes you are, but it's okay. Catch up, You're good,
you do catch up. You don't worry about it. Don
worry about it.
Speaker 1 (01:49:32):
Let's start in golf.
Speaker 9 (01:49:33):
Find out where Scotti Schefler won his first ever Open championship,
his second major of the year, fourth of his career,
ending seventeen under part overall, Harris English ended in second place,
four shots back. And in case you missed, the number
I gave the fellas earlier earing numbers that make us
feel creeped out. Is that Tiger Wood's first and fourth
major win. They were one thousand, one hundred and ninety
(01:49:54):
seven days apart. Scotty Scheffler's first and fourth major win
one thousand, one hundred ninety seven days apart.
Speaker 3 (01:50:02):
Wow, that is unbelievable. So is he gonna win fifteen?
Is that?
Speaker 1 (01:50:07):
Is that where we're leading towards nine? He's at four? Now,
got yeah, forget that more?
Speaker 3 (01:50:11):
Yeah, you're yeah, you'll get five. I say, he gets
a little bit more.
Speaker 1 (01:50:15):
I like this. I like this.
Speaker 9 (01:50:16):
We're feeling all differently about it, but congratulations to Scottie Shuffler.
In Major League Baseball, Elhanniel Swatz has hit another home
run for the Diamondbacks. He won't stop hitting home runs.
It's a three run shot. They're blanking the Cardinals four zero.
Top of the second inning. Bruis and Dodgers scoreless. Top
of the third in La Astro's Mariners scoreless, top of
the second in Seattle twins with a five to one
(01:50:37):
lead over the Rockies. Bottom of the six, the Red
Sox have exploded. They're now on top of the cub
six to one. Bottom of the eighth inning, about to start.
Speaker 3 (01:50:44):
Angels still on.
Speaker 1 (01:50:45):
Top of the Phillies eight to two.
Speaker 3 (01:50:46):
Top of the eighth inning.
Speaker 9 (01:50:47):
Orioles and Rays were on a rain delay and so
they're still going.
Speaker 1 (01:50:51):
But Orioles are up five to two.
Speaker 9 (01:50:53):
It is the bottom of the seventh inning. Aaron Judge
hit his thirty six homer of the season as the
Yankees defeated the Braves four to two. White Sox took
down the Pirates seven to two, Blue Jays over the
Giants eight six. Padres took down the Nationals eight to one.
Xander Bogart's with a grand slam in the first inning
of that one. The Mets edged the Reds three to two.
The Royals have a seven had a seven to four
(01:51:14):
win over the Marlins, and the Guardians defeated the A's
eight to two. NFL news, the Seahawks have released veteran
tight end Noah Fant.
Speaker 1 (01:51:21):
Desmond Ritter is signing with the.
Speaker 9 (01:51:23):
Bengals, and edge rusher George Carloftis and the Chiefs have
agreed on a four year, ninety three million dollar extension
sixty two million guaranteed, keeping him with the team through
the twenty thirty season. And also remember that story about
Joe Burrow's home being burglarized. I can't say that word,
but you go what I'm saying when they broke into
his home. Apparently a New York City pawnshop owner pleaded
(01:51:44):
guilty to buying and selling those items.
Speaker 3 (01:51:49):
Thinks he's gonna get away with selling that stuff.
Speaker 9 (01:51:52):
You know, I wonder if he knew were Yeah, I
feel like I wonder if he knew up front or
did he find out after the fact.
Speaker 1 (01:51:58):
I don't know.
Speaker 9 (01:52:00):
That though, Right, No questions asked what are you selling?
Speaker 2 (01:52:02):
Questions asked, questions about what is it? Because you're selling
it to the pawn shop, not the real ones.
Speaker 1 (01:52:09):
Not the real ones, Harvin, The sketchy ones are the.
Speaker 4 (01:52:13):
Real ones, right, I say, Yeah, he went he went
to the Mall right, you didn't start.
Speaker 1 (01:52:19):
Yeah he didn't.
Speaker 4 (01:52:20):
He didn't go to Pond City that's got bars on
the windows.
Speaker 5 (01:52:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:52:23):
And so I looked up Savannah Banana tickets September fifth Friday.
Speaker 3 (01:52:28):
It looks like there's tickets available in San Diego.
Speaker 4 (01:52:31):
I'm might do this man, take the kids, take my
wad like take making a trip like one Diego. We're
going down to the game like you.
Speaker 2 (01:52:40):
Were going to the zoo in San Diego, right, you
go to San Diego shoo, Yes, ruin the planet.
Speaker 1 (01:52:45):
Yeah, our sea world, Oh exactly.
Speaker 3 (01:52:47):
All right, well, great stuff. It's always mine.
Speaker 1 (01:52:51):
By the way, our show coming up with carry here

(01:53:31):
She's getting ready for her show coming up with Murray.
Speaker 3 (01:53:33):
Wrote Monty was fun today. Fun today.
Speaker 1 (01:53:38):
Chris of Courus on the board with his perfet picks
and a little insight into his connection to the Savannah Bananas.
I wish I had still lived down there when the
bananas started to be a thing, just to say I
was there, but no, no oh and said I watched
a team called the sand Gnats.
Speaker 2 (01:53:55):
Sand Mats Yats like oh SATs sand little Bugs.
Speaker 1 (01:54:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:54:01):
Yeah, he happen to watch the Prince William Cannons like
I had, even though Michael Jordan did because it was
the White Sox as the affiliate of the White Sox. Yeah,
Jordan did come through and did play one minor league
game there which blew up our town of Woodbridge, Virginia.
Speaker 1 (01:54:17):
Yeah. For the Prince William Cannons, Yeah, he had two
o two that one year in the minors two oh
two at least it And uh, shay, I do need
to get a final word from you. I definitely want to.
Speaker 3 (01:54:32):
We need to talk about this Lebron stuff I didn't have.
I was gonna say, you did not get a chance
to do this.
Speaker 2 (01:54:37):
And so again the story circulating out there, and this
makes sense to me, is that he's not going to
announce a retirement after a season.
Speaker 3 (01:54:46):
In other words, he's gonna get what.
Speaker 2 (01:54:48):
He believes other greats have gotten in the NBA and again,
VJ has made it clear he doesn't deserve it. Obviously
he does because he's the all time leading scorer in
the history of the NBA.
Speaker 3 (01:54:58):
Is he self serving?
Speaker 2 (01:54:59):
He's not the only superstar that's been self serving in
the history of the NBA.
Speaker 1 (01:55:03):
Or any sport.
Speaker 2 (01:55:04):
But anyway, he's going to and if he does, it
has to be announced before the season begins.
Speaker 3 (01:55:09):
And I can and now that the.
Speaker 2 (01:55:10):
Lakers have made it clear this is his last year
as a Laker because they wouldn't extend his deal beyond
this year, he's not going to ask for a trade
to have a farewell tour with a team that, you know,
maybe Cleveland, but not any other team. So that's why
I'm convinced this is his last year in the NBA
(01:55:31):
and he's gonna wrap it up this year in a
Lakers uniform.
Speaker 4 (01:55:35):
So his world tour career tour is gonna be with
is gonna be with Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (01:55:40):
Now that's what it's gonna be with. People, Go ahead, shack,
all right, So there you got the table show. So
one hundred percent.
Speaker 10 (01:55:45):
I already said this before when you guys said he
wasn't gonna be a Laker.
Speaker 3 (01:55:48):
Take my Victory lap on that real quick I did.
Speaker 10 (01:55:52):
I said, yeah, you guys said that, But I think
that he will definitely either retire, like one hundred percent,
he's gonna retire as a Cleveland Cavalty or a Laker.
And there's no other team, There's no other reason. He
does everything for a reason. Lebron is calculated with everything
he does, right, no other team makes sense. Literally, no
other team makes sense. And then that's right.
Speaker 3 (01:56:11):
Okay, let me stop first taking it on Cleveland.
Speaker 2 (01:56:14):
Let me so you have a Cleveland team and one
see it in the East, why would Cleveland get some
of their roster to allow exactly, especially now with the
Celtics and the Pacers alien We've said it in the East,
it looks like the Knicks and the Caps, why would
they Cleveland.
Speaker 10 (01:56:28):
Put that on holds? What I was about to get
Towell at a point where their rebuild is starting to payoff,
they're at a point where they're making the final there,
they could easily make the finals next year. It's something
that's not out of these questions at all, like at all, Yes,
the Celtics are there, but it's not the question at all.
Lebron would just take that away from them for the
next two or three years. They're going to be playoff
bound Lakers. I'm not really sure about that, but they
(01:56:52):
can basically have a season be Lebron's. We're not going
to make the playoffs this year, but this is your season, Lebron.
Speaker 1 (01:56:59):
That me.
Speaker 4 (01:57:00):
No, no, no, I'm telling you that's just that's that's not
gonna happen with this new ownership. And let me tell
you someth Let me ask you a question about the
Cleveland thing. I just want to get rid of you
and we're done. But I'm gonna balk against what my
partner here said, and why would you gut that?
Speaker 3 (01:57:12):
Why would you do this? Why would you do that?
Speaker 4 (01:57:13):
First of all, this team with Cleveland's running his course.
I said this when the playoffs started. I don't believe
in this team. Donovan Mitchell is not a winning type player.
Neither is Daris Garland. And those are your two best players.
Are you more relevant with gutting your team and having Lebron?
Are you more We've all sat here said, we don't
know about Cleveland because we never get to see him play.
They don't put them on TV. We just know they
(01:57:33):
win fifty something games. And we know they're going home
in the first in the second round, or if you
gut the team and bring Lebron back, you now have
twenty national chat twenty national televise games, and people will
will start, Hey, they gun a shot because the East
is so weak with guys. He's not gonna finish his
career as a.
Speaker 2 (01:57:50):
Lakers, Okay, I honored and other things. Let's just say,
for argument's sake, that he announces right before the season starts,
this is my final year. How is that gonna sit
with Luca, who they still don't have an extended deal with.
How's that gonna sit with Luca? If you know the
Lakers are sort of a you know, five or six seed,
(01:58:11):
just sort of hovering through the regular season as arena
after arena is hailing Lebron James, how is that gonna
sit with Luca and his decision making to commit the
rest of his career La.
Speaker 4 (01:58:23):
That's why what you're saying is crazy to think that
Lebron is going to announce, Guys, put lunch on it.
Speaker 1 (01:58:29):
He will not announce.
Speaker 4 (01:58:31):
Before this year start. This is his last year. The
man is gonna play another two or three seasons. People,
he doesn't want.
Speaker 10 (01:58:36):
To walk necessarily saying that he will retire this year.
I'm saying, you won't retire. He will have a farewell tour.
Then it won't be it. Then it won't be as
a Laker.
Speaker 3 (01:58:45):
It's not going to be going to be as a
Laker cab and there will be a farawell to.
Speaker 2 (01:58:48):
It won't be a Laker unless he announces it this year.
This is his last year, is a Lakers saying it's
either a Laker a cap Well, I'm saying is if
it's a Laker, this is his only year. He will
never play for the Lakers.
Speaker 4 (01:58:58):
After this sea here as a Laker because this is
his last year, or on my book, I think he
might have played his last game as a Laker already.
Speaker 1 (01:59:07):
They want to move on from him.
Speaker 4 (01:59:09):
They want to move on from Lebron James right now.
Speaker 2 (01:59:14):
By the way, if they do trade him, then you
would have to bow to me, because I did predict that.
Speaker 1 (01:59:19):
That was just like would I would have to value there.
Speaker 4 (01:59:22):
Yeah, he's done as a Laker. Guys, He's not going
to retire as a Laker. He's not getting a Lakers statue.
Like Steve says, he none of this stuff is happening
with the Lakers.
Speaker 7 (01:59:31):
Guy.
Speaker 4 (01:59:31):
He's been here five seven years, seven years. You can't
tell me this has been.
Speaker 2 (01:59:35):
A seven years of which five of the seven years
he either didn't make the playoffs a rout.
Speaker 3 (01:59:39):
In the first round by sweep or five. Is that
enough to put a statue out? Not with that statue stuff?
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 10 (01:59:47):
He will do whatever he can to make sure his
legacy as a Laker is stained. And it's amazing, not stained,
but like it's a good staind. Like I'm telling you
right now, if he can have a farewell tour, he
will have that farewell tour just because if he does statue.
Speaker 2 (01:59:59):
In front of the But as a true blue to
the core Lakers fan, do you believe that he belongs
up there with the other Laker legends.
Speaker 10 (02:00:08):
I do believe he belongs up there. I don't think
he's similar to them, but I think he belongs up there.
Speaker 3 (02:00:12):
Yeah, I don't think he belongs up there.
Speaker 4 (02:00:13):
He's not getting a statue, he's not saying he's copy,
he's not retiring. He's not retiring as a Laker. You
guys are underestimating how much of a narcissist and unsulf aware.
This man has always been. This is not his last year.
He will play another two or three years in this league.
Speaker 3 (02:00:27):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (02:00:27):
He does not want to walk away right now. He's
got nothing after this.
Speaker 1 (02:00:31):
All right, Well, I'll tell you who is gonna walk away.
Speaker 3 (02:00:34):
That would be us. Get it done again next week.
Speaker 2 (02:00:38):
Get ready mon scene Carrie take over here on Fox
Sports Radio
