Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is straight fire with Jason McIntire.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
What is up straight fire, Fayum, It's me Jason McIntyre.
Straight fire for Friday, September the twelfth, And we gave
out a winner on Thursday night Football Packers twenty seven,
Commanders eighteen. It was not as close as the final
score indicated. Green Bay now two games in the books.

(00:34):
Both of them were at home, both of.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Them were dominant.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
They led the Lions twenty seven to six before giving
up a garbage time touchdown, and they led Washington twenty
seven to ten before giving up a garbage time touchdown.
Green Bay certainly looks like the class of the NFC,
and this defense is I think it's gonna it's really
going to start to get scary. Just they have the

(00:59):
Browns on deck next week, so this is gonna continue.
Green Bay through two games against Detroit and Washington. Oh,
by the way, they were playoff teams last year. Oh,
by the way, Washington made the conference championship. Detroit in
those eight quarters against two playoff teams from last year,
has eight sacks and they've allowed three touchdowns. And the

(01:19):
best part is I wrote down the times of the touchdowns,
so zero touchdowns allowed in the first three quarters for
theo mid Packers. They gave up one with two point
fifty three left last night, and then they gave up
on fifty five seconds left against Detroit. The other touchdown

(01:41):
was like earlier in the fourth quarter last night. They're dominating,
and I know that Jabroni's at home. Mostly Cowboys fans
who were.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Like, wait, hey, Michael hasn't really done that much.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
We touched like, you're not watching the game again. I'm
not gonna be like that guy, but I'm sorry to
bring facts to the table.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
If you actually look.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
At Micah Parsons, he has impacted the game in at
a crazy level. I mean, I know, only half a sack,
only two tackles. If you're not watching, you don't know.
He's drawing double teams all the time. He put that
guy Connorly. I felt bad that Cliff Kingsbury kept leaving
him on an island against Micah. Mike's just steamrolling the guy,

(02:22):
puts pressure on the interior of the line. They have
to help. Jaden's running for his life. Jaden Daniels, I mean,
I think largely as a result of Michael Parsons in
that pass rush had the worst game of his young
career by many metrics, twenty four of forty two for
two hundred yards. He was sacked four times. So they've

(02:44):
already dug up some of these numbers. This is just crazy.
Washington's two hundred and thirty yards and fifteen first downs
both lows in the Jaden Daniels era. They had three
point five yards per play and got to the red
zone once.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
They could not move the football. This is insane.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
With eight point fifty seven left in the game, Washington
had one hundred and forty four yards of offense. They
had eleven yards of offense in the first quarter. They
did nothing. Now, I don't know the Green Bay offense
could hold them back. And I know they've they scored
twenty seven two weeks in a row. Fine, whatever, but
I'm not seeing it yet. They've got a lot of

(03:24):
good receivers that they're spreading it around to. My guy,
Tucker Craft. Yes, I drafted him Fantasy. Oh my gosh,
he had a great night. He just murdered Washington. So
Craft had six catches on seven targets. Luke Musgrave had
two catches on two targets.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
And.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
I have no idea how the Raiders Brock Powers, who's
slated to play Washington next week. I have no idea
what Washington's gonna do to slow Rock Powers, because he's
he's better than Ducker Craft. Craft is good, but Brock
Powers is elite, like, looks like a generational talent. Washington's
got to figure that out. They couldn't run the football.
And the really worst part of this says, you know, late, late,

(04:02):
late in the game, Austin Eckler trying to come back
for a pass and just goes down and it's one
of those injuries. You're like, I've seen that shit before.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Damn it. He just felt bad for.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Him, you know. Austin Eckler veteran, a good guy, had
a really nice run with the Chargers.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
He's now thirty years old.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
I'm not here to speculate, but if anybody has ever
played basketball and seen someone go down with a certain injury,
I don't talk about the injury. I don't like saying
the word. It's just it feels like bad juju. Somebody
once told me that I was asking a lot of
surfers out here in LA and a lot of buddies

(04:43):
I know surf and I'm like, dude, aren't you scared
of though? Aren't you nervous about sharks? They're like, hey, Jay,
we don't say that word.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
We don't.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
We just say the man in the gray suit. And
I was like, oh cool, because everybody knows they're out there,
you just don't talk about them. Just this injury happens
to people who football basketball at stinks you just you
just don't talk about it. So I don't say that
word anymore, and it just stinks for Austin Eckler. Now
it becomes interesting because remember Washington just traded Brian Robinson

(05:13):
too the Niners, so they're running back depth chart Eckler,
Jacory Krosskey Merrit the rookie who had a nice little
game against the Giants and then couldn't get unlocked yesterday,
and then Jeremy McNichols, who flashed a little bit last year.
And Chris Rodriguez, the Yeah he's the beefy bowling ball
type running back out of Kentucky, but he wasn't even

(05:37):
active last night. Let me see, Jeremy Nichols was active,
and I have a feeling he's going to start to
get a lot of burns. So you want to consider
picking him up in your fantasy league. But it's a
tough loss for Washington. You know, veteran leader, veteran leadership
in the locker room, and you know I I it
looks like and again it looks like he's gonna be

(05:58):
down for the season.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Now let me go to Green Bay, And I probably
should have started more with Green Bay because they're so dominant.
I gotta be honest. When Lafleur took over and was
coaching with Rogers, I was like, listen, I don't know
how good this Lafloor guy is. He got handed in
a Hall of Fame quarterback, you know, I just I

(06:34):
don't know. And Lafleour won me over last year when
he had that great game where he put Malik Willison
at quarterback, had an awesome game plan and got the dub.
And I was like, oh, damn, Lafleur man, that guy's good.
And then I started to change my tune on La
Floor and now I got some numbers on him.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
So you know how.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Zach Taylor of the Bengals is just totally garbage early
in the season. He's just a bad coach. He's ill prepared.
Lafleour is the opposite. This SAT's crazy. In the first
three weeks of the season. In his career, Matt Laflour
is seventeen and three against the spread. That's a guy
who does his homework, comes to class prepared, and is
ready for action at night games twenty four to thirteen

(07:20):
and one against the spread. He is a cash cow.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
This dude is good.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
So I was on the Packers last week, easy winner.
I was on the Packers this week, easy winner.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
I think you just got a cond of sort of
ride them until they let you down. This is a
really good team. They are stacked defensively offense. I have
some questions. I don't think they'll be tested next week
against the Browns. Now it's on the road, so the
Browns are coming off a Ravens game, a big rivalry spot.

(07:50):
I think I'll probably be on the Packers in that one,
but you're gonna be paying the tax because they're inflated.
Then it's Dallas, Cincinnati, Arizona Pittsburgh Carolina. You don't want
to go overboard, but the opportunity for them to be
eight and no heading into that Philly matchup in early
November is significant. I mean Packers right now just look

(08:10):
like a beast. And the defense, the fact that the
defense can blitz Jaden Daniels so much, get to him,
cause him to struggle under pressure, and then they can
get the ball and again, Josh Josh Jacobs is not
I know, he's got like a touchdown in so many
consecutive games or whatever, but Josh Jacob, he's not dominating.

(08:32):
I'm not seeing like one hundred and twenty yards on
the ground from him. But essentially we're talking about a
team that's like, hey, we don't need that from you.
Here's what we need, Josh.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
We need no fumbles.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
By the way, Packers zero turnovers so far this season.
He had twenty three carries for eighty four yards as
long as carry was ten. And then they got smart
and in the red zone they did an end around
a jet sweep, and it was like wash because they
whatever they were doing up the middle with Jacobs wasn't working,
so they tweaked it a little bit.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
I liked that that was good coaching.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Tucker Crafter ups, you got don Tavian Wicks, Malik Heath
had a big catch, Romeo Dobbs. They don't even have
Christian Watson, Matthew Golden. Some guy I'm playing in Fantasy
started and he's a Texas guy. Zero catches on two
targets and Chris Brooks whoever that is three catches like
they spread the wealth. There's I used to play pick

(09:29):
up basketball with this guy. I don't know if it
was before COVID, but this older guy who was a
big Warriors fan, and it was during the Kdi Curry Warriors,
and he was like older. He had some gimmicky shots inside.
But he's a nice guy, big Bay Area dude, and
he loved anytime we were on the same team together.

(09:50):
We would, you know, have a couple other guys who
are good, we'd win. He would say his line that
he said about the Golden State Warriors. You'd just be
like too many weapons. We got too many weapons. He
would just yell it in the gym. This kind of
older white guy is like, you know, late fifties, and
I would laugh.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
It was funny.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
I look at the Packers and I'm like, they just
have too many weapons, Like is it Dobs, is it Wicks?

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Is it Golden?

Speaker 2 (10:14):
I mean Christian Watson when he's healthy. I mean, Tucker
Craft is now a legit threat. Like they've got a
lot of dudes who can deliver and that defense man again.
They gave up two explosive plays all night to Washington.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Washington ran sixty five plays. I mean they both of
them were to zach Ertz. By the way, the longest
carry allowed on nineteen carries was an eight yard scrabbled
by Jade and Daniels. They played a lot of zone,
which keeps their eyes on Daniels and he did not
get loose. And other than Deebo Samuel, like Terry McLaurin,

(10:48):
I didn't think he had a great game five catches
on nine targets. But overall, this Green Bay team looks
like it looks like a truck right now. I mean,
I can't even I guess the Eagles would second best.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
In the NFC.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
With these Dieters injuries. I mean Brock purties out two
to five weeks. I suppose the Rams are in the mix.
I want to put the Falcons there but I don't
think they are. But Green bay Man just continues to
look as good as they have in the uh Matt
Lafleor era.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Very impressive.

Speaker 1 (11:23):

(11:44):
Here's your best bet.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
All right.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
We talked college football on yesterday's podcast. MINDI Hurricanes a
bunch of other bets. So if you missed those and
you're interested in hearing the logic and feeling like tailing,
go for it yesterday's podcast or maybe it was two
days ago.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
I don't know, but you're at this stage. If you're
listening to the.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Picks, you're probably listening to every podcast.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
In the NFL.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
I have far too many bets, and I just wrote
all of them down because you know, some of us
have multiple accounts and multiple Survivor leagues and multiple fantasy teams. Anyways,
to start, let's go survivor. The Dallas Cowboys have almost
no future value. I don't love them this week but
this is probably the last time you would use them.

(12:31):
So I'm firing on the Cowboys at home.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
I don't love it. Divisional matchup Giants, you know.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
Rivalry, all that crap. But I just think Dallas gets
to win. It's probably not a cover. This was the
line was six. I saw it down to four and
a half.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
We'll see.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
I mean, Cowboys should win. So in this survivor, I
have three entries. I'm taking Cowboys definitely Arizona at home,
and then I think I'm gonna roll the dice with
the Texans, which is a short line. It's against Tampa,
it's Monday night. I just I want to save Baltimore.
I mean, I usually am not save guy. But again,
if you go to ta's website, so Baltimore has an

(13:09):
eighty eight percent chance to win this week by far
the most. Cardinals and Bills are at seventy two. Next
week Baltimore could be an option that's seventy one percent.
Week five, Baltimore seventy eight percent. But where it's real
spicy is week's eleven twelve. They are eighty and eighty
eight percent. Now we don't know if Lamar Jackson's gonna

(13:29):
be Okay, then, but if you look at some of
these weeks where it's like, oh geez, who do I take,
it's like you want to save the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
I don't think you want to use.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
The Bills this week because their next three games, they're
going to be significant favorites and you're going to probably
want to take them. So again, there is some gamesmanship here.
I think the Lions if I, you know, if I
do flop flip flop, the Lions could be in play
because I don't know how good they are.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
They may just may not be as good as we think.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
The problem is it's a divisional matchup, it's against the
Bears and Ben Johnson. I'm sure Ben Johnson has this
game circled for a while. Obviously, the Vikings opener was
one thing, but you know, he's going back to Detroit.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
He's gonna have some stuff dialed up.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
So that game scares me a little bit. But That's
where I'm at for First Survivor.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
No.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
I have not talked to David Baker about not much
about the pick this week. The one team he did
tell me he liked, I was like goad Zookes and I,
you know, quietly. I tried to talk him out of
it a little bit, just some alternative logic and thoughts.
At any rate, let's get to the bets. So sometimes

(14:34):
I do dumb things like all this negative forty nine
er energy that was coming on Monday.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Oh, they're not that good. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Guys.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
Did you see the Niners.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
They barely won against Seattle.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
I said, let me take the Niner. So I bet
him at minus six and a half before we knew Kittle. Okay,
before we knew Purty. That line is now three, so
that's kind of a dead bet. Well, here's the thing.
Matt Jones is starting for the Niners, and I actually
think he's gonna do well. Remember this is a guy
Kyle Shanahan wanted in the draft. He knows mac Jones. Well,

(15:11):
I don't think mac Jones is very good in this system.
Can he drop back, read and react against a pretty
bad Saint secondary? Now, Kittle's a safety valve. I would
expect a lot of two running back sets with Robinson
and McCarthy to try to throw the Saints off some
pierce all deep shots.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
I think the Niners win this.

Speaker 2 (15:29):
I had the Niners as a survivor pick, even with
Mac Jones a quarterback. That's how little faith I have
in the New Orleans Saints. And I haven't Kyle Shanahan.
Remember he's had backup quarterbacks before. I'm spacing on the
guy's nab. But he coached him up and at one
point I was like, this guy could be a starter
on some teams because that's how good Shanahan made him look.

(15:51):
I'll figure out that guy's name at some point.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
So that's a dead bet.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Other than the Niners minus six and a half, I
have the Broncos minus two. I remember, if you're listening
to every Day, I talked about the chat GPTs coordinator scheming.
I do believe Vance Joseph will work his magic here
against Daniel Jones and Saint Stichen. I think there's a

(16:15):
big edge for Vance Joseph. It is going to be
a culture shock for the Colts to go from facing Miami,
which looks lost defensively, just absolutely clueless on the back end,
couldn't tackle. They were an abomination, Like Miami really did
look like the worst team in the NFL. I'm not
saying they are, I'm saying they look like it, and

(16:37):
it's kind of inarguable that they were terrible and people
are trying to defend it, and I'm like, you know, okay,
just because they were terrible, I might like Miami this
week against the Patriots.

Speaker 3 (16:46):
I'm not doing it.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
But in terms of blitzes, Miami blitzed tied with the
Patriots for the most blitzer sent Their blitz percentage was
the highest. Basically, they were so desperate against Daniel Jones
they were blitzing every other down. They knocked him down
once cost that's terrible. They just they only got seven

(17:09):
pressures despite all the blitzes. I don't know, just totally
disappointing stuff from Miami. Right now, you face a Denver
defense that is in fact awesome. Patrick Shurtan, you will
not throw at him. I don't know if you want
to just remove Michael Pittman or one side of the field,
but whatever side that Daniel Jones likes, I would strongly

(17:35):
consider putting Patrick Shurtan over there and just removing that
from the equation. By the way, Broncos last week getting
after cam Ward, and you know, cam Ward had had
a good offensive line. Denver led the NFL. It's just
one week. In pressure rate, folks, the number two team

(17:55):
Seattle pressured brock Purty on thirty eight percent of his
drop backs. Denver pressured cam Ward on fifty eight percent.
I'm just telling you it's gonna be a shock to
the system for Daniel Jones. And yes, maybe he runs
for his life, but the Denver linebackers are great. I
like the Broncos a lot in this one, guys, so
I bet the Broncos minus two. I am strongly considering

(18:18):
them for the CIRCA contest, even though they're on the road.
Arizona Cardinals mount of six and a half. I like
them against Carolina. Yes, Carolina has done okay against Kyler
in the past, but Carolina's cycled through so many coaches.
Same with Arizona. I don't put too much stock it Kyler.

(18:39):
I think his record is one in three against Carolina
and they did lose in overtime one late last season.
I don't again, I don't nothing there for me. I'm
on the Cardinals mount of six and a half. The
biggest bet so far of the season for me is
the Tennessee Titans at six and five and a half.
It's irrational to the point that. I'm sure the Rams
will wipe the floor with them. Now, it sounds like

(19:01):
a lot of other people like the Titans, but the
line is not coming down.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Hm. Not good.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
I loaded up on the Titans and I will be
rooting for them to cover against Matt Stafford in company.
The hope is with the two linemen out for the Rams,
that Tennessee's able to get pressure up the middle on
Stafford get him off a spot. The Tennessee corners, I
mean they showed well, I guess last week.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
I just don't know.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
If Tennessee is going to be able to do anything
against this Rams front, which is pretty nasty guys. I
mean C J.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Stroud couldn't do anything.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
We'll see Tennessee indoor not indoor, sorry on the outdoor
slower track. Could Tony Poller get.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
Loose, We'll see.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
It's probably a dumb bet. I'm on the Jets plus six.
Not huge divisional matchup. I really do believe the Jets
offensive line is different. Membo the kid from Missouri WHU
Day drafted I believe fourth or fifth overall. He was
outstanding according to Pro Football Focus. He was the number
one graded right tackle last week and yes occasionally he
was matched up against TJ.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
Watt.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
That's an awesome start. I do believe the Jets will
be able to push around Buffalo the same way the
Ravens did. Keep the ball on the ground, keep it close.
Probably is I don't think the Jets can stop Josh Allen,
so they'll probably lose. But I took the six. I'm
on the Falcons plus three and a half against the Vikings.
I think that's a Monday night game or Sunday night.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Let me double check it, but I do like them.
I'm sure you saw the news.

Speaker 2 (20:30):
JJ McCarthy he his wife or girlfriend is giving birth. Oh,
this is a Sunday night game. Okay, McCarthy's girlfriend or
wife is giving birth and he missed practice on I
think it was Thursday, maybe Wednesday. Again, you don't bet
a game because the quarterbacks having a baby, but something

(20:51):
of a distraction, life changing experience. I think this could
be a tough one for McCarthy. By the way, the
Falcons should have beat should have beaten the Buck last week.
They kind of got jobbed and I was I watched
that final drive again that Drake London had to miss.
He is gonna play he's practicing, and Pennix made a
throw that the wide receiver kind of gave up on.

(21:11):
I don't know why he didn't catch it. It would
have been the game winner. Falcons, they played good, and
so I will be on them. I don't know if
I'll do him in the contest, because two in a row,
I mean, I would just kill any vibes for me ever,
backing the Falcons for the rest of the season. The
second biggest bet of the week is the Houston Texans
at home on Monday Night against Tampa under three. I

(21:36):
was not impressed with Tampa again, I watched that game closely.
I think the Texans defense is going to overwhelm the
Tristan Wharf's less bucks, although it seems like he could
play sooner than later, just not this week. You're not
going to force him out there. And I like the
Texans under a field goal as my second biggest bet
of the week. So the biggest ones are Titans plus six,
which will be in the contest for sure, Texans wounds

(21:58):
two and a half, and then my third biggest is
Lions minus four and a half. Unfortunately, the four and
a half is kind of sort of gone. I see
six and a half as we record.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Oh boy, that ain't great. I still like it.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
I think Detroit reverts to last season's Detroit shows. Hey,
we're not Chop Liver, We're not that bad. And I
think Chicago's short week is in a real tough spot here.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
I like the Lions.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
A tea is a teaser that I did. Yeah, this
is a teaser that I did late in the week.
I know you're supposed to only tease three and seven,
but I'm on Lions plus. All they have to do
is win the game and then Texans getting three and
a half. I know it's dumb, Jason, but again, I
like the Texans a lot, so I'm doing it anyway.

(22:46):
I had a teaser from earlier in the week forty
nine ers in Arizona felt like, I can't miss taking
both sixes down to under a point.

Speaker 3 (22:53):
Just win the game.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
Just get me the dub mac Jones, Just get me
the win, Kyler Murray. That's it, and the teaser hits.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Other teaser.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
You're not gonna like Dallas Cowboys to pick them Seattle
up to nine Arizona to just win the game. I
know you're not supposed to the Seattle number doesn't really
make sense. You should get to ten. J I like
Seattle in the game anyway, So I did it and
two totals Brown's Ravens over and a little Joe Flacco
revenge spot and Panther's Cardinals over. The game last year

(23:25):
was thirty six thirty in overtime and the totals forty
three and a half, So I bet that as well.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
That is a lot of action.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
I don't recommend doing it like this, but I I
love football. I had a good week one. I would
trade this week's wins if I could go five to
zero in the contest.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Is that an option?

Speaker 2 (23:43):
Probably done? Anyways, have a great weekend, Be safe out
there people. A lot happening in this country. Enjoy the football.
