On today’s episode, Jason discusses Shedeur Sanders being stuck as QB4 on the Cleveland Browns most recent depth chart, whether it’s fair to say the Browns are being intentionally obtuse regarding the quarterback position, why he has a big problem with guys like Justin Herbert and Matthew Stafford being ranked ahead of Jalen Hurts in The Athletic’s QB Tiers, if the San Francisco 49ers should still be considered to be a popular pick to win the NFC West given how murky their wide receiver position is, and what we can learn from the latest gambling scandal to rock the world of college football.

Speaker 1 (00:05):
This is Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
What is up Straight Fire, PM, It's me Jason McIntyre.
Straight Oh your for Tuesday, August the twelfth, almost midway
through August. I just booked my ticket to Vegas to
go and enter the gambling contest. Very excited for that.
I don't think I'm gonna do Survivor. I'm gonna do

(00:32):
the David Baker thing where I just, you know, try
to buy a sliver of his ticket, the one hundred
thousand dollars one, and then I've got some tickets I
get to cash in. I may, I don't. I may
have won enough with several tickets that I don't even have
to pay for the gambling out of my own pocket,
thanks to largely Ta and Churnoff. With that Eagles over Chiefs,
maybe I can duplicate that. I think the odds of

(00:54):
it are so long, and this year feels so wide open,
but obviously a big NFL show ahead. I don't know, guy, listen,
I don't want to. I don't want to be labor
this Shador Sanders stuff. But even if you're bored of
it or tired, hear me out here for a sec. Okay,
so really nothing is cutting through in the media so

(01:17):
far in this young NFL preseason a there are no
quarterback battles that are moderately interesting except the one involving
fifth round pick Shador Sanders, who was top twenty on
Daniel Jeremiah's board a lot of people had in the
top ten and then he falls to the fifth round
for mysterious reasons. That's the only interesting quarterback battle, largely

(01:39):
because he's going up against Dylan Gabriel, who nobody had nobody,
not one person nobody had him going before shad Door.
Nobody had him going that early. And then you've got
the fossil Flacco and then Kenny Picking, who they traded for.
So the Browns kind of sort of look inept, which
is on brand for them, like they don't know what
the hell they're doing. But if you look around the league,

(02:00):
like Micah Parsons asked for trade and all of a sudden,
like that was a hot button thing, what like ten
days ago, I think, right at the end of my vacation,
and then that's gone away because Shaduor played and now
everybody's chiming in. I'll get back to Shidor. But like
nobody gives a shit about the New Orleans Saints quarterback room.
I mean Spencer Rattler, Tyler Shook, and whoever the hell
else is there. It's like, Gosh, Derek Carr was smart,

(02:24):
he got the last chopper out of Saigon. I mean
that thing. They look terrible, the Saints. I could argue
the New York Giants have been so bad for so
long that nobody really cares that. Jackson Dart looks good.
And Russell Wilson is the incumbent and is like going
to WrestleMania and really enjoying being a New York City

(02:44):
athlete right his famous wife like he's enjoying that. Meanwhile,
Jackson Dart's just grinding away in the salt mines, and
the media loves him, the coaches seem to love him.
I think Jackson Dart will probably be starting sooner than later.
I'm not ready to say he's gonna be the weak
one starter yet, but I don't think it's totally unreasonable.

(03:04):
By the end of September Jackson dartis started. That would
not shock me. But like again, we're the other quarterback battles.
The Jets decided we want Justin Fields we want to
try that. We don't want anyone else. Anthony Richardson versus
Daniel Jones. Absolutely no juice there. It's so strange, Like
cam Ward was the number one pick I nobody's talking

(03:26):
about him. He had like a good showing. I think
the Titans could win the division. I'll be betting on that, folks.
Nobody seems to talk about cam Ward. He is the
least talked about number one overall picked it as a
quarterback in the longest time, honestly, And it's like, where's
all the attention. It's all on shdure And this is
kind of a weird thing, But you guys want to

(03:49):
listen to Scott Galloway aka Prof g. He's freaking amazing.
Highly recommend it. It's not sports, but it's just awesome.
And he's on this kick about how the new economy
is the attention economy. All anybody wants, whether it's an app,
a media person, an athlete, all they want is your attention. Okay,

(04:12):
now that's it's kind of always been that way with
talking heads, but we're in a weird space where it's,
you know, Instagram wants you to keep watching reels TikTok
wants you to keep watching YouTube. As soon as you
finish a video, another one pops up. They don't want
you to leave, They just want your attention. They're all
battling for it. And my guess is everybody's seeing, oh

(04:34):
uh yeah, nobody's really talking about the Chiefs. They're gonna
be good. Obviously they're the Chiefs. There isn't a lot
to say about Josh Alleney want the MVP. You gotta
get to a super Bowl, bro Lamar Jackson got to
win a big playoff game against Patrick Wall Like they're
you could do that stuff. These are evergreen. Nobody's getting
crazy on that stuff. The one thing that has people

(04:56):
riled up and everybody wants to jump in the comments
and have their take is why is Schadure fourth? Now
this is where it gets weird. We talked yesterday about
how Shadur had a solid preseason opener. I would say
he's slightly exceeded expectations or exceeded expectations either way. Everybody

(05:16):
wants to oh, oh Shoudo or the new starter. Okay,
this is where we are. Adam Schefter in the middle
of Monday, and I don't this is unsourced, but Schefter
writes on Cleveland's second depth chart of the summer, here
is how the Browns are listing their quarterbacks this week.
Number one, Joe Flacco, number two, Kenny Pickett number three,

(05:39):
Dylan Gabriel number four, shador standers. So my question, Rob
is why on earth are you releasing that A B?
Why are you handing that to Adam Schefter? All you're
doing is giving your team your storyline way more oxygen

(05:59):
than it needs. Do you sound? Do you see how
dumb it sounds, Rob? When they're like, hey, should door
played really well? So here's our depth chart? Yeah? Should
or still four? I don't want to hear this. Well.
Joe Flacco gives them the best chance to win. Uh
really why? Because two years ago he had a magical
run and they backed into the playoffs barely and they

(06:21):
got destroyed by like eighty when he had two pick six's, Like,
I just I don't buy that. And then you got
the picket Hammy the Gabriel. I thought Joe Flacco would
be four. He's like, you're emergency quarterback, veteran leader. Hold
the clipboard, be good in the locker room, be good,
you know, be too a mentor to the young guys,
but I didn't think there was any shot he would

(06:42):
be one back. To me, is the bigger shot than Shadua.
For what are you doing with Joe Flacco starting this season?
You gotta throw these rookies in there. Let him sinker,
swim or I don't know, but in Kenny Pickett, who
you gave up a draft pick for rob This is
just more Friggate ineptitude from the Cleveland Frowns. I'm sorry

(07:04):
the Cleveland Frowns.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
I like that, Uh j Mac. They called me a
mad man two weeks ago when I told what I
said on this podcast that the Cleveland Browns were being
intentionally bad with their quarterback situation, that they were getting
an early head start on the March for Arch, that
Jimmy Haslam was putting it out there, the misdirection was

(07:26):
in full effect. Nah, we're not trying to tank.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Nah.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
I think Arch Manning is going to stay in school
for two seasons, and yet they continue to do stuff
like this that just defies logical comprehension for football fans.
It's they did leak it to Chefter first, and then
maybe about an hour later they published it on their
website officially, should Ruie Sanders fourth on the depth chart

(07:50):
in the way there? Why would you do that? I
have no idea. But here's where it gets really weird.
After they published the depth chart, of course, they have practice.
According to multiple reporters who are on the scene there
in Cleveland, Monday was the first day that Shaduur Sanders
received the most reps of any quarterback, including alternating the

(08:14):
twos and the threes with Dylan Gabriel. This had not
happened before, so he didn't do enough to even get
one of those Joe Flacco slash Kenny Pickett slash like
you've seen that in college, especially where it's like we're
not gonna tell you who the starter is gonna say,
or this guy or this guy slash this guy. They

(08:35):
put it out there, black and white. He is number four,
but when it comes time for practice, we're gonna give
him more reps with the backups than our chosen son,
Dylan Gabriel. Either they are playing the most high level,
four dimensional version of chess that we have seen any

(08:55):
NFL team play, or they are even more inept than
we thought coming in. I tend to think it was
the former more than the latter. I think Kevin Stefanski
is a sharp guy. I think the Cleveland Browns know
that they aren't doing anything this year. The big talking
point on Monday for a lot of shows, including your

(09:17):
show on the Herd with Colin, was the Athletic QB
Tiers that came out. Mike Sandol's gonna be on the
show this week. That was like the dominating topic on
most sports talk shows throughout Monday. Would you like to
know where starting quarterback Joe Flacco ranks on the QB Tiers.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
There's no way he was ranked anywhere.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
He actually was. In fact, two Browns quarterbacks were ranked.
First off, let's start with Joe Flacco. He's the starter.
He is the guy who's going in. They're even gonna
play him in practice or the preseason because they've seen
enough tape of Joe Flacca. No, he's their guy. He
is ranked as a Tier four quarterback thirty first overall,

(10:00):
ahead of guys such as Anthony Richardson get ready to learn,
Canadian Spencer Rattler, who you know he is probably gonna
winning the starting gig there in New Orleans, and Tier
five all by himself, which I don't even know this
existed in in that bowling. Can he Pickett? So the
Cleveland Browns, as of Tuesday morning here employ two of

(10:24):
the four lowest rated quarterbacks in football, and we're led
to believe we're having a legitimate battle here. Some of
the comments about Joe Flacco again, head and shoulders the
best option they have there in Cleveland. The defensive cordiator
asks he's still playing. Here's another one. A offensive coach says,
Flacco has no regard for ball security, so you don't

(10:46):
know when he's gonna throw it into a crowd. He's
gonna make some throws because of that, He's also going
to have some really bad throws and turnovers. There is
no way that the Cleveland Browns are going into this
season expecting Joe Flacco to be their guy. You're for
the full season. There's no way they're going into the
season expecting that Kenny Pickett is gonna show that he's

(11:09):
anything more than a competent backup in the NFL. I believe,
and I've said this before, they are jerking us around
being bad on purpose because they know that none of
these four guys Shador included is their long term answer
at quarterback. So what they're trying to do is to

(11:31):
muddy the waters just enough so that Flacco can start
be bad. For four or five games, he gets pulled.
Maybe Kenny Pickett gets two or three games. He's bad,
he gets pulled. Dylan Gabriel goes in, he's too small,
doesn't have the arm talent. He gets pulled. Maybe Shador
gets two or three starts, assuming he's even on the roster,
and next thing you know, they are three and fourteen,

(11:52):
staring arch Matting right in the face.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at Foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to

Speaker 2 (12:07):
That's a hot take, and I don't hate it, but
because you mentioned quarterback tiers, I had to look it up.
So you said that Flacco was at the very bottom
along Kenny Pickett thirty first. Yep, yeah, that doesn't totally
surprise me. Um I'm looking here, So I decided, just

(12:29):
for fun, let's see here Pickett thirty four, Rattler thirty three,
and that's all sounds about right. I think Pennix is
a little low, but maybe that's just because he doesn't
have the passes. Okay, So I decided let me just
go back two years rob, just to see the quarterback tiers.
How things have changed?

Speaker 3 (12:47):
All right?

Speaker 2 (12:47):
So do you want to know the year Tier one?
Just two years ago? Literally twenty four months?

Speaker 3 (12:52):
Oh okay, I'm gonna guess Patrick mahomes correct, Josh Allen correct,
Joe Burrow correct.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
But there's two more.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Oh wow, Justin Herbert correct? And because these coaches love
Matthew Stafford. No, oh okay, he.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
Was tenth overall Tier two. Yeah, you're not gonna be
able to get this guy. I don't think two years ago.
Two years so you said mahomes Borough, Alan Herbert, it.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
Would not have been Rogers because he was hurt. Uh,
would not be Dak Prescott, would not be Jalen Hurts.
Oh my gosh, it would not be Trevor Lawrence. I'm
running down the list here. Just give it to me.
There's no hay wan to get this.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
Well, you were wrong two years ago. Aaron Rodgers wasn't
wow signed with the Jets. He was number four overall
two years ago.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
Wow, that's how.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Crazy this stuff is. So people are losing their minds.
Aaron Rodgers. Now they have him at sixteen. Now, that
is total garbage. There's no way he's ahead of Tua none.
Are you crazy?

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Trevor Lawrence?

Speaker 2 (13:59):
What? He can't even move in the pocket. Honestly, I
would take bow Nicks this season over Aaron Rodgers. I
don't even think that's a hot take, do you.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Not? Really? But you know what is might be a
hotter take? You know that. Would you take bow Nicks
over Patrick Mahomes?

Speaker 2 (14:15):
No?

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Because Patrick Mahomes's numbers are almost like.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
I know, I know, that's just one year though.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
I mean, come on, Patrick Mahomes has been a beam
lightly about average for the last two seasons. He has
been nowhere near a top flight.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Four agree, I agree, But you can't drop it out
of Tier one, man, I just don't think you can.
He delivers when it matters most. He just clutched, like,
I know that's silly. So again, two years ago, Lamar
was in Tier two with Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence. Trevor
Lawrence has fallen from eighth to eighteen. I mean, it's
not like he's been that bad. He's been hurt a
little bit, but these tiers swing wildly again. Two years ago,

(14:51):
Deshaun Watson was eleven, like Kirk Cousins was twelve. He's
now thirty. I mean he nowhere. Yeah, oh, Kirk Cousins
fell to twenty five. It's just this stuff feels all
over the place. And I'm looking forward to talking to Sando.
So these were the biggest risers, Sam, Darnold, Baker Mayfield,

(15:18):
and then there's a gap, followed by Bryce Young. The
biggest fallers Kirk Cousins no surprise coming off an achilles,
Aaron Rodgers still not healthy, Daniel Jones just sucks, Anthony
Richards in disappointment. So it's a mix of young and sorry,
old and washed who fell off a cliff. But I
don't know, I'm not I listened. I beat this dead

(15:39):
horse earlier this summer. There's on no planet? Is Jalen
Hurts a t too? The guy just won the Super
Bowl and was MVP, And I love the arguments about
how oh a good note from ta as I read
his Eagles preview and ta, if you haven't checked it out,
I mean he's got great nuggets like this. The Eagles

(16:01):
ran sixty eight plays all season, trailing in the fourth quarter.
That's it. Sixty eight all season. So you had how
many three playoff games? Right, and then seventeen regular season games,
So that's twenty games sixty eight divided by twenty. Is

(16:21):
they on average three plays a game trailing in the
fourth quarter?

Speaker 3 (16:26):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
It was an awesome team. Now, obviously the defense was
very good, but the offense was freaking excellent. Now, some
notes that TA made was second healthiest team in the NFL.
Saque miss zero games. Starting offensive line missed a total
of six games. They were great in one score games.
I think that's kind of on the quarterback, is it not?
Who gets credit for the one score games? Usually it's
the quarterback and coach. So I just I feel the

(16:49):
jail in hers disrespect. I don't know if you're with me.
I don't know if you've actually talked about this at length.
It just annoys me that a guy can win the
Super Bowl MVP. He's gotten to two Super Bowls, the
Nation mahomes in one and in the other it was
basically toe to toe, and and the disrespect is still there. Meanwhile,
you got Justin Herbert, who I like.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
I love him a lot.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
As zero playoff wins, and he's consistently put above Hurts.
And I get it, he's toolsy, but he's got Jim
Marble right well, got a good offensive line. I know
Slater went down, but like I don't know the Herbert
over Hurts, I don't. I don't get outraged about much.
But to me, that's just.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
Like, yeah, it's one of those things where, and we've
talked about this before, the NFL, maybe even more so
than the NBA, has this thing where it's always about traits.
It's never just about who's a good player. It's the measurables.
It's the arm, talent, it's the size, it's the elusiveness.

(17:50):
And because Jalen Hurts does it in a different way,
he continues to get knocked year in a year out.
In that teer you mentioned the QB tears. He came
in as a Tier two quarterback for the third consecutive season. Okay.
In fact, twelve of the fifty voters, which is about
a quarter of them, placed him in Tier three. You

(18:13):
mentioned his super Bowl acclades, and we talked about on
this pod ad nauseum. Okay, in two super Bowl games,
Jalen Hurts averages three hundred and thirty three total yards
a game on seventy three percent completions, twelve point zero
yards per attempt, seven total touchdowns, two turnovers, with a
one oh nine passer rating. In his career, he averages

(18:37):
right around two hundred and forty three yards per game,
has twenty total touchdowns, three interceptions, and a six to
three record with a Super Bowl two Super Bowl appearance
is one super Bowl Championship, one Superowl MVP. He has
as many playoff wins six as the rest of the
twenty twenty QB class combined, Joe Burrow, Jordan Love, Justin

(18:58):
Herbert to so on and so. At some point, we
need to change the way we view the quarterback position.
The days of the six' five laser statuesque rocket armed
quarterback A La Peyton, manning even his arm wasn't really that,
Great Tom, Brady Dan, Marino Troy, like that's. Done it's

(19:19):
a NEW. Nfl if you look at the four guys
who we all agree are the four best, Quarterbacks, Mahomes, Allen, Burrow,
jackson they're all unique and in, Fact Lamar, jackson despite
now having three first Team All pros and what should
have been THREE. MVPs two of them would have been

(19:40):
unanimous save for one. Vote was finally selected as A
tier one. Quarterback, yeah and it's not because he's not.
Great it's not because they have the. Hardware it's because
the way he does it flies in the face of
everything we thought a good quarterback was supposed to. Be
it's Why Jalen hurts continues to be disresp expected over

(20:01):
and over and, over and guys Like Justin, herbert who
has never won a playoff. GAME i believe he had
three picks in his last game and blew a thirty
point lead in the first one gets ranked ahead of,
him and the one that really bothers, Me Matthew, stafford
who is older THAN i, am who has a bad

(20:21):
back so much so he can't even, practice is ranked
as A tier one quarterback because they like the way
his arm, looks because he processes, well because he throws
a no look. Pass even though at the end of
the season in gotta have a, GAMES i know that
they ended up winning these, games so it's a good
narrative for. HIM i believe that The rams offense average
about fourteen points a game in the last Three gotta have.

(20:44):
It the defense thankfully gave up about eight and a
half points of. Games it didn't. Matter Matthew stafford in
the last three games average about one hundred and sixty
passing yards per, game one, touchdown one, interception and he's
viewed as a top flight. Quarterback if that Was Jalen,
hurd's we've been talking about him getting. Benched it's just.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Ridiculous so it's interesting you Mentioned, herbert and AGAIN i
Like herbert a. LOT i totally like he looks the,
part big strapping. Dude what's the argument For Jared? GOFF
i don't see how if you, Said, jay you can
Have Jared goff be your quarterback for your, team or
you can Have Jalen, hurts who would Pick? Goff hurts is,

(21:27):
Mobile hurts has the tush. Push what does GoF? HAVE
i don't know what he has other than you, know
sports illustrated swimsuit model of wife and my exact same
dog and a good arm. LIKE i don't see how
you Take golf Over. Hurts that to me is. Insane
and you KNOW i, again these are old SCHOOL nfl

(21:49):
guys whose idea of a quarterback is a certain thing
and they don't want to come off of. It i'll be.
HONEST i saw a regression from C. J, stroud AND
i know everybody likes shiny new So Jane daniels is up.
There that's, fine but it just feels goofy to continually disrespect.
Hurts i'm Just i'm also a little surprised that this.

(22:09):
One did you See Caleb williams checked in at twenty.
Three he was supposed to be A they talked about
him entering his senior year AT usc as a potential
face of THE nfl in five. Years he's currently Behind Bo,
Nick's Sam, Darnold Drake may and one slot Above.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
Bryce.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
YOUNG i mean that is kind of sort of. STAGGERING
i don't know who. COULD i don't know who these
people are who Voted Caleb williams to be a second tier, Quarterback,
LIKE i haven't seen. THAT i just, Again i'm not
gonna hammer the. POINT i know people didn't like. It
WHEN i Used Rob G's Johnny mandel analogy on The,

(22:53):
herd people were extremely. Outraged you got like eight hundred
and seventy five thousand views on social. Media people were freaking,
out Like i'm an, idiot lunatic, Again i'm not saying
off the. Field i'm just saying the backyard quarterback. Style
and guess, what it seems like executives around the league
and coaches tend to agree with. Me ROB i two
other quick. Things did you see? That, Uh brandon ayuk

(23:20):
is not going to be ready until weeks six at
maybe at. Best he got hurt in week seven of last.
Year i've been, Told Remember Aaron rodgers was, LIKE i
could come back from an achilles in four, months you, know
with his witch doctor or. WHATEVER i thought we were
down to like six day months for AN acfl maybe,
Ten and now we're talking about a year at best

(23:42):
for Ayuk. Man that guy was a nightmare first. CONTRACT
i wonder what his rehab has been. Like that is
not good at. All you're looking at half the season
without your your top receiver after Losing Deebo. SAMUEL i
mean that that is not good at. All they got
to figure out The jinning situation and then the Own uh,
well we'll talk about a college football thing in a, Second,
robert are you surprised at to say you think because

(24:05):
a lot of people myself, included like The niners this,
year easy, Schedule BUT i, mean if you don't have
a number one option and you're looking At Ricky pearsall
And Juwan jennings to carry you on the, outside LIKE
i Think Brock party could could be under heavy duress
early in the.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
Season, Yeah i'll tell you. What we'll get to fantasy
football in a couple eaks wing back from. Vacation but
it really Makes christian McCaffrey And George kittle like fly
up draft boards because IF i use not, Available and
as far AS i, KNOW i don't even Think Juwan
jennings is practicing right. NOW i think he's still dealing
with an injury as recently as this, weekend.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
A quote unquote injury or that's a very good.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
Guy they're calling it a calf injury as.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
Well remember he demanded a trade and then all of
a SUDDEN i got. Injured i'm Not i'm not blasting the,
guy just that that that actually is the thing that.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Happened just, Yeah and you, Know i'm a big fan
Of Brock So i've always thought, that, hey you Put
Brock party in any situation and he's shown he can sling.
It and now you're talking about him throwing to what
his number one Is pearsall who got shot last. Season,
yeah like that's what we're talking about In San. Francisco
and you know what's funny IS i hate to bring

(25:19):
it back To Patrick, mahomes But Patrick mahomes gets a
lot of passes because they, say, hey it's his supporting
cast is not, great, Right he's really he's he's trying
to make chicken salad out of chicken. Shit and when
he does it and his numbers aren't, great well because
he didn't have a good supporting cast Brock party basically
all of last. Season now it's looked like starting of

(25:40):
this season is going to Have christian, McCaffrey George hittle and.
Nothing and they're gonna expect him because they are the
popular pick for popular people to win that. Division and
if he does or if he, doesn't is he going
to get a pastor not having his best players, know
they're gonna, say, well Brock party didn't elevate the rest of. Them, yeah,
yeah the way that he's supposed. To AND i will

(26:00):
say just inclosing about this topic is every, year basically
we have a worse the first type of. SITUATION i
think it's like eighty percent of the last twenty, years
that's kind of. Happened everybody was picking In San, francisco
AND i think that is the smart. Bet but IF
i you g is out and you Know piersol And John,
jennings you, know to be, determined if If Freaky pearsol

(26:22):
is their top receiving option on the, outside it's really
hard for me to feel good About San, Francisco LIKE
i might have to pivot and take My raiders to
be the worst Of it's just A. Tennessee it's just,
WELL i, MEAN i don't. KNOW i think even their
own their own coaching staff said that they don't they're
gonna be good in this, year, right Didn't they ask them, like,
hey and we're talking about Super? Bowl what's your goal
for The Super? Bowl was, like, oh, well you know

(26:43):
every team has different. Goals it's, like, yeah what step
at a?

Speaker 2 (26:46):
Time, fellas you can't leap to the Super.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
Bowl but it's like like it should have been The
niners with The Slam dug and if they're that banged up, Already,
like how do you feel good about?

Speaker 2 (26:54):
IT i don't feel great about. It final story is
an interesting.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Live THE ncaa is currently Investigating oklahoma Quarterback John mattere
and the reason this is absolutely. Crazy so you, know
these losers on college football message boards have all the
time in the, world and for one of, those somebody,
decided let me just look Into John Mattere's venmo. HISTORY

(27:34):
i GET i. DON'T i tend not to scroll Through
venmo and look at, histories BUT i guess somebody looked
all the way back in twenty twenty two when he
was At Washington state and he paid a. Friend it
says On Venmo john Paid richard, whoever and in the
Tag John, MATTERE i have to assume he was, joking

(27:56):
wrote sports GAMBLING uclac and it was On november twentieth,
there that's right around the date of the rivalry. Game
and then he paid him again and it said sportsman
gambling this time NOT ucla VERUS. Usc, now obviously he
could have been. Joking he a lot of people joke on.

(28:17):
There you, know when you pay somebody for, something you
make a joke about something that if the wife saw,
it it would look really funny and. Dirty you, know
Like i'm not gonna say this, stuff but you, guys
don't come, on guys are. Guys this is a college. Kid,
now some people are claiming it's about video. Games BUT
i don't totally know what to do. Here but according

(28:41):
to multiple, outlets THE ncaa is currently looking into, it
and even though the screen grabs, exist The oklahoma quarterback
did scrub his venmo of, this but according To Fox
Sports College, football THE ncaa has launched an investigation into.
This now, again we're talking about three ye years Old
oklahoma on the doorstep of the. SEASON i, Mean, ROB

(29:05):
i don't even know where to freaking go with this
because it seems like nonsense sports supports gambling should be.
Legal but he's a. Player was he playing In Washington? State,
like there's just so much. Here, listen, MAN i was
laughing BECAUSE i actually thought, someone you, know you can
do somebody dirty, online and you can like create fake screen,
grabs you can create fake video as. AI i thought

(29:27):
initially this was, fake turns out it's, not and this
is is just a little. DISAPPOINTED i, Mean, rob did
you ever gamble in.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
COLLEGE i, mean, yes the gambled in high.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
School then, again you weren't A.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
NO i was not AN ncaa athlete WHERE i had
to worry about that kind of thing where it's prohibited
like this. IS i can't say it's surprising because everybody,
gambles AND i think, everybody you, know whether it's legal
at a sports book or with your, buddies like, Hey
i'll bet you twenty bucks on this, Game like what's
the big? Deal, Like and then you don't really think
about who you are where you are in society when

(30:04):
you consider the fact, that, Hey i'm A division one
athlete and it says in the bylaws explicitly you cannot
wager ON ncaba activities of any. Kind So i'm sure this,
is you, know going to be a teaching moment for this.
Kid he already scrubbed His venmo account so he can always,
say like you, mentioned it was a video, game that
was a.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
PIZZA i was just.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
Joking it was a. Joke nothing like, that, nothing nothing,
Really but this is another teaching moment for all of
our young listeners of this. Podcast we've seen this happen
over and over and over, again where you have old
tweets from Like Kyle kuzma talking trash About Lebron. James
you Have Austin, reeves you, KNOW i remember If Austin
reeves said, that you, Know lebron couldn't Handle kobe at

(30:44):
all and net to know their. Teammates you got this
kid and putting his sports bets out, there, like, hey
once you reach a certain level of, notoriety whether you
know that is A all area full back in high
school or if you are A division one quarterback just
the socials one, Time.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Yeah start. Fresh it totally makes sense to, uh, YEAH i.
Should you know, What i'm gonna go back and purge
a bunch of my old. Tweets there's no point in
having them out. There i'm SURE i said something. Stupid it,
Happens but, like you, know when a college kid's season
ripped away from him based on a three year Old
by the, way what about the loser who's looking Into

(31:21):
venmo transactions three years ago of college football?

Speaker 3 (31:25):
Players, yeah what kind.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Of losers doing? That enjoy your, life don't try to
tear down someone. Else's my. Gosh, anyways that's a wrap for.
Today have a good one back.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
