(03:41):
The pregame show you always wanted is our good buddy.
Ernie Spaniard likes to say the NFL preseason is the
free season on nice word play, But what's interesting is
how well the data has really lined up Week one
soul far. We talk about sharp bettors, whether they consider
the preseason to be a very good chance to make money.

(04:05):
The action on these games these sharp money. And if
you don't think that the preseason has data and edges
that you can take advantage of, then why why are
the limits in preseason games about a thousand dollars a
game of dimond game and of course something typical NFL center.
You can get twenty grand down dimes down on any game.
It's an information game. And whoever gets it first has

(04:27):
the advantage. It revolves around coaches, quarterbacks. Uh And, as
I said, information like the fact that Lamar Jackson would
play a full quarter with Baltimore one twenty nine and nothing. Meanwhile,
Hardball continues his rampage. He's won fourteen in a row.
That's John Harball, John Harball, Pete Carroll. He loves the preseason.

(04:48):
He's already got one W under his belt. Saying with
Mike Zimmer John Gruden, we talked last week's leapy about
first year first time coaches. Would have Vic Fangio, Denver,
Brian Flores, Miami, Cliff Kingsbury, Arizona, Freddie Kitchens Cleveland all
have in common, all first year first time coaches. They

(05:09):
all got a W Week one in the NFL preseason
because they want to. Only Zach Taylor of Cincinnati lost.
So this is a a data game that we're going
to continue to watch over the next three weeks because
we'll continue to have angles and edges and information. For instance,

(05:31):
a lot of us like the Lions, you got to
own it. They they defecated the bed. Was trying to
get in front of good word there right against New England,
but all the trans all the numbers, all the past history,
death one game where the data didn't line up, and
Belichick went in there and they pull acts the Lions
and it turned out they didn't like lose them to

(05:52):
the Lions last year and they paid them back. But
the Lions and jacksually peopleoth scored less than seven points
Week one. Did you know that team suiting in in
the NFL preseason who scored seven or west points in
any of the weeks cover seventy of the time the
following week? Are you doing anything with the preseason? What
do you many observations or right now, I'm basically looking

(06:13):
at all the injuries in preseason training camp, and you
know the two things I'm going over. One is the
preseason injury I need to figure out who they are,
you know, what what these players potentially could be worth,
who's going to be filling in those areas, how long
these guys might actually be out? You know, like I like, uh,
Andrew Luck, he's a question mark right now. He has
a calf injury. He's not gonna play right and uh,

(06:35):
you know another area like Raiders old line. I mean
that they got a lot of problems right now, so
uh jermyn and curse another bad injury last night. I
felt bad for the guy, but you know when notable
players go down, Bernie, I'm looking to make good bets
in the preseason obviously, but right now, could those injuries
be really impactful where the public hasn't gotten behind those
line chet And I'm maybe getting a point or two
of value because like you think Luck might be out

(06:56):
for a little bit, how much is he gonna be worth, Bernie,
I don't know, so maybe I want to atack that now. Well.
Frank Reich still likes to win in the preseason. He
was four and no against the spread last year, four
oh straight up in his in his inaugural season. But
I think Sean McVeigh showed us a window into the
future um last year the head coach of the Rams,
when he didn't play anybody none of his period. He
do did new tonight by the way they played the Raiders,

(07:19):
who obviously the coach by John Gruden. Jon Gruden now
fifteen and eight all time. He's been a very profitable,
active preseason coach. And speaking of the Raiders, my team,
I don't have much hope for this year. I think
the win total of six. I think you have to
be crazy to bet the over. They've got an outlandish schedule,
and I don't think they're very good. And then you've

(07:39):
got Drum already with that, you know, Antonio Brown and
Richie and Cognito something we may or may not get
to later. But the Raiders are also on Hard Knocks
and you may be interesting to know. And I'll tell
you what I'm gonna have a stat for in a
second here. But the guys talked about the Raiders and
Hard Knocks earlier this week, and in this cut that
we're gonna play for, we're in a second here, r

(08:01):
J and Fazzic ruminate about the culture that the Raiders
had coached. John Gruden is presiding over Circuit two thousand nineteen.
Can the Old become the new again? He's Gruden merely
perpetrating a Jedi mind trick? Or is he taking a
shot at the old college actium that quote tradition never graduates.
So there's another five episodes of Hard Knocks on deck.

(08:24):
What are the guys here and straight out of Vegas
really think. Let's take a listen. Part of Gruden is
the old school? Is all this new fangled stuff. I
think it's unequivocal. There's an old school element to the Raiders,
to Gruden. My question is is that bad? Yeah? My
instinct is I'm worried about their two old school they're

(08:45):
bringing back all the old players. You know, that's nice.
They have a dinner and apparently they're the only organization
that does this. But are they just living on their
past glory as opposed to moving forward r J? That's
my concern. This wasn't a new theory, right, you know.
I mean Gruden got a lot of hate, quite frankly,
from the analytics community. Right, so when he comes in,

(09:07):
he starts talking about that the analytics don't matter like
some people think they do. Oh every nerd in their
their basement. You know, they said, Mom, don't bother me tonight,
I got a serious blog post. Right. Wouldn't one analytics
person be smart enough to say? I wonder if he's
trying to send us off and distract us with this talk.

(09:27):
So the teams he plays are thinking he's not looking
at tendencies the way that he really is. I'm not
sure that's true or not, but I would at least
think about it. Maybe it's not just this, this old
school seven man blocking sled. Maybe there's some other stuff
going on. We don't know. I don't know. I know this.
At worst, Gruden wasn't. I mean, I think the debate
was always was he overrated because he won the Super

(09:51):
Bowl with Dungee's players or whatever, But no one ever
thought he was blow average more than any other organism
Asian in all of sports. The Oakland Los Angeles Oakland
soon to be Las Vegas Raiders have always paid a
serious homage to their rich history, the commitment to excellence mantra.

(10:13):
While it was formulated by the ingenious Al Davis. Unfortunately
he's no longer here, and see that's the rub, much
like the Lakers missed the venerable Jerry Buss. I really
think the Raiders miss Al Davis. He'll never be replaced,
and they're trying very hard to capitalize on his brilliance,
his ingenuity, his guile. In my humble opinion, it ain't

(10:36):
gonna work now. Jon Gruden's the guy, respect, but he's
not going to simply speak into existence in other Super
Bowl I don't care about blocking sleds, dream crushing speeches,
adorable kids asking their dad where's Roethlisburger or diners, drive
ins and dive stars as if they earn the rights
to strut Because at one time this franchise was truly spectacular.

(10:57):
That was then this is not, by the way, if
you're scoring home this two thousand seven. I teased this
a minute ago. Teams that have appeared on hard knocks.
They're only seventeen and twenty seven against the spread in
the preseason. Okay, get at the Raiders covered tonight, but
note that for the remaining three games a distraction. Yes,

(11:19):
if you haven't noticed, I think the Raiders have all
the credibility of a dermatologist with acne. All Right, I'm done,
But look, this Antonio Brown thing does bug me just
a little bit. You had to know what you were
getting with him, and we'll deal with that a bit later.
A couple of other preseason tidbits I want to get
to because there are still plenty of money making opportunities
out there. The Hall of Fame. We talked about this

(11:42):
when a low scoring affair. It's been how it had
gone under ten of eleven years, average point total was
thirty one, the total was thirty four and a half.
That one under now it's eleven out of twelve years.
Dan Quinn, the Atlanta Falcons head coach, we talked about
how he really doesn't care if he wins in the preseason.
Now in thirteen against the spread, already oh into this year.

(12:07):
And if you saw that game against Miami the to
night when they were tied at all, right, I gotta
be honest here, I had the Falcons plus four, I'm
thinking pretty okay, it's fourth and long on their own
eight teams just punted out of there, and maybe that
you know, there's a field goal or whatever, I don't care,
give me the cover. They go for it on his

(12:30):
own eighteen yard line, which leads me to believe he'd
rather lose than go over time. And not only is
Miami in the last minute and a half, score let
score touchdown. So this game ain't easy. But if you
follow what we've been talking about in terms of the
data we've amassed, and again you understand knowledge is power.

(12:50):
Have a firm grasp on player usage rates, injury information,
coaching strategies, philosophies, who really wants to win, who doesn't
care if they win? Try get information on how much
a quarterback is going to play, or an offensive line
is gonna play a couple of other things fade the public.
There are websites you can go to, like pregame dot
com where you can find out the number of tickets,

(13:13):
spread ticket percentage on a game and stance two thousand four.
Again more data. If you see a side, we're less
than thirty five percent of the tickets are on one side,
and you bet that side you've covered fifty percent of
the time. You can make all the money you want
to make covering fifty percent of the time. If in fact,
in that same period you find less than twenty of

(13:36):
the tickets on one side of a game, I bet
you new England was like that the other night, sleepy,
I didn't check. But it's only happened twenty times now,
it since two thousand four. However, if you got on
those teams were less than of the tickets were on
one side of the game, you covered sixty four percent

(13:59):
of the time. Another thing follow reverse line movement. What's
reverse line movement? This is when a betting line moves
in the opposite direction of the betting percentages. For example,
a team is only getting of the spread tickets, but
their line moves from minus three to minus four. This
is often an indication of sharp action. In the NFL preseason,

(14:19):
it's been profitable to wage your on teams receiving less
than fifty of the spread tickets when the line moves
in their direction. By following the strategy, you are not
on the same side as professional betters. One last thing,
if you can back big underdogs. Now it doesn't that
very often, but if you catch an underdog of six
points or more in the preseason, that's the best bet.

(14:44):
And all those such large spreads are extremely uncommon. They've
been about over the years. So continue to watch it,
continue to follow the information, the things we've talked about,
and you can find a lot of profit in the preseason. Now,
on the other side, we're gonna take you behind the

(15:06):
curtain and show you a real interesting area of Las
Vegas that I bet you didn't know existed, and I
think you're really going to enjoy hearing about this. I

What does it mean when Gego says just fifteen minutes

(18:29):
Probably should have gone to geco dot com fifteen minutes ago.
I want to switch gears for a minute and welcome
in a special guest. Las Vegas is a diverse community
of movers and shakers and philanthropic organizations. And I'm talking
about organizations devoted to helping those less fortunate by creating
opportunities and possibilities that affect a more fulfilling life or

(18:51):
Richard life. One such organization US Opportunity Village, and we're
joined the night by their vice president if Philanthropy. I
hope I pronounced it right. Sorry, Let's welcome in Adam
Joseph Adam, thanks for joining us tonight. Bernie is great
to be on Fox Sports Radio tonight talking picksbro V

(19:12):
football season an Opportunity Village. Yeah, I'm glad you teased that, Adam,
because and I met Philanthropy last time. I run a
tongue from that place. I know better. The bottom line is,
we are going to get to your football contest, which
is really cool, and you've got a lot of big
names in it, and I want you to give out
that website. But you're going out across America tonight, three

(19:33):
and sixty stations. Tell the folks what you do at
Opportunity Village. I can tell you I took the tour
in June and it was very compelling. Yeah, Bernie, you
got you got to see firsthand the great work that
goes on an Opportunity Village. We've been in the community
of Las Vegas for sixty five years and the charity
serves adults that have intellectual and developmental disabilities, and our

(19:54):
goal every single day is to offer vocational training. We
concentrate on the three EPs, pride, purpose, and a paycheck
and ultimately what we like to do. Bernie has put
people to work that have disabilities right here in the
community that we call home, Las Vegas. We're talking with
Adam Joseph, the vice president of philanthropy for Opportunity Village

(20:16):
here in Las Vegas, and I was amazed at the
productive assembly line precision that these folks do their jobs with.
And there's even a gaming angle here. Talk about some
of the products you produce that are used right here
in Vegas and the casinos. Yeah, it's a great question
that rate point, Bernie is. We do a lot of
contract work with many of our gaming partners right here

(20:37):
in Las Vegas, where adults with disabilities are working on
those crews doing assembly, for packaging and processing for products.
For example, we do player cards for many of the
hotels and casinos. We have a refurbishment program for casino
cards that have been dealta nout been pulled back and
they're sold in gift shops. So we rely a lot

(20:57):
on our partners here in the community. And the gaming
is very important to the community of Las Vegas. That
you know about and any time that we can embrace
that and put people to work that have disabilities in
Las Vegas, We're all about that. And now are you
able to tell us UH some of the organizations you
do business with that you provide these products too. Yeah. Absolutely.

(21:18):
I mean many of the very well known UH SCRIPT
properties along with the local casinos, board gaming stations, casinos
are good friends that win an encore, m GYM resorts
and many many more are supporting the mission of Opportunity Village,
which again is to put people to work in the
community that have disabilities and concentrate on those three ps, pride,

(21:39):
purpose and the paycheck. Before I go to the part
of a lot of folks wanting here about please give
your website so people can reference your website from anywhere. Absolutely,
And you mentioned the tour that you got to see firsthand,
and you visit Opportunity Village dot org any of your
listeners that are out there that are in the visiting
Las Vegas. There is a tab on the webs sight

(22:00):
where you can sign up for a tour. They take
about one hour and you can come in and see
the great work that goes on at OV every single
day all right, very good. Adam. We're talking again with
Adam Joseph, the vice president of philanthropy for Opportunity Village.
Adam talking about the Great Football Contest you guys sponsor,
how folks can get involved, the website they go to

(22:23):
to join in, and some of the illuminaries involved. Yeah,
we decided last year, Bernie, to do something fun and
exciting that engage the people not only in Las Vegas,
but all over the United States. And our football contests
picks for ov dot Com and our good friends from
CG Technology are our sponsors. And basically, you sign up online,

(22:43):
you're picking five games versus the spread against the CG line,
and you're competing against other well known dignitaries and stars
that are out there. And I'm really excited to share
with your listeners today that uh UFC Hall of Fame
or Force Griffin is coming back in the contess to
defend his title last year. And he had a forty three,

(23:03):
thirty four and two record, and Bernie, I know, you
know point spreads and you know records, that's pretty impressive
against that's incredibly impressive. Off the top of my head,
that's probably about Yeah, it's really really amazing and again
all the information is available at picks for o V
dot com. You can sign up tonight, you can get
in the contest, and you know, we have some pros
that are back in this year, our good friend Scott

(23:26):
Sprycher from doc Sports, so your listeners can compete against
the pro. We have a legendary bookmaker, Bob Scucci from
the Board Gaming Group who is now going to be
joined the contest that will be announcing many many more.
So again visit picks for o V dot com so
someone can log in, they go to pics ro v
dot com. What's the process from that point? Go ahead

(23:46):
and give it, you know, the entry fee. And by
the way, a lot of this money goes towards great
causes and helping Opportunity Village. Absolutely all the money that
we raise, our goal this year is between thirty and
thirty five thousand dollars Bernie, So there is a donation
required to be involved in the contest. Once you're in
the contest, it's very automated. We send you all the
games with all those lines provided by CG Technology about

(24:09):
midweek and then you have to get those back into
us by Saturday via a secured link and you're going
up against all these other folks. Five games versus the
number Sunday and Monday games. It's a great way to
have a good time support the mission of Opportunity Village.
And hey, who do you want to pick some winners
during the football season? Right, very good. And by the way,
as you pick those games, are you picking totals? Two animals?

(24:31):
Just sides? It's just sides again, five against the number
that we get on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and they go
out and they have to be back in on Saturday.
Man asked how many folks did you have in the
contest last year? Now we had ten folks. Last year
we raised twenty tho dollars in the contest. We're looking
to expand that this year. Our goals to have twenty

(24:52):
five people that would come in. And again we kind
of opened it up to where all of your listeners
tonight can be a part of that and they can
compete against somebody like a forest, they can compete against
somebody like a former mayor of Oscar Goodman who was
in the contest last year. So a lot of great
ways to get involved in the mission of ob and
we thought this is one heck of a fun way

(25:12):
to get people motivated around the football season. So it's
just so we're clear, because again we've got folks listing
all around the country. If someone from Minnesota or Louisiana
or New York or Tennessee, they merely need a log
onto their website and they can be philanthropic and be
part of this contest as well. Correct, that's right. You
can sign up tonight picks rob dot com. There is

(25:34):
a donation required, and once you're in your locked and loaded,
and we encourage social media bantering. There's gonna be seventeen
weeks of mentioned along with our our good friends from
CG Technology and Jesse Rays Barbecue. So we're gonna have
a great time. And Bernie, at the end of the the day,
what are we doing. We're gonna raise the money for
the people that need the most right here in Las Vegas.
And before we let your run, please give us every

(25:55):
give everybody your Twitter handles so they can follow you
on Twitter as well. Sure mine is at Adam K
Joseph o V and follow me and the link again
picks for rob dot com. All the information is there,
and again we invite all your listeners to come out
on a tour of Opportunity Village. You can visit that
website Opportunity Village dot org. We're with Adam Joseph, the

(26:17):
vice president of Philanthropy from I don't know what I'm
struggling with that word tonight, and I know better of
Opportunity Village. And before I let you run, Adam just
got about a minute ago. One of the things that
amazed me is the growth you've had, not just in scope,
but in in creativity and projects. What are some of
the things you've got on the horizon for the remainder

(26:38):
of two thousand nineteen and into two thousand twenty. Yeah,
another great question. We're really excited. Uh. Next month, Bernie,
we're gonna be breaking ground on our residential housing project
for adults with disabilities in Southern Nevada, that projects called
Betty's Village. And then in about two years from now,
we're gonna be breaking ground on our fifth campus and
our goal is to serve over two thousand adults with

(26:59):
disabilities right here in southern Nevada. Alright. Having seen it firsthand,
I can tell you it's extreme. It's an incredibly compelling experience.
To see the magnanimous contribution you make to the community
and giving these folks an opportunity who are less fortunate
to lead a very fulfilling and productive life. He is

(27:20):
Adam Joseph, Vice president of Philanthropy of Opportunity Village right
here in Las Vegas. Adam, thanks for taking time to
join us tonight. We appreciate you have us on Fox
Sports Radio. Make the great even all right, Thanks, ad
I appreciate it. Joey, your address, your evening, Sleepy. I
can tell you, if you can get a chance, have

(27:40):
a look. It's incredible. It really makes you count your blessings.
But the amazing work that they do over there with
assembly line and producing knick knacks and and things you
use in everyday life that you never stop to think about. Uh,
it really gives you a wonderful perspective on life. And again,
I know a lot of folks around the country think
here in Vegas, we've all got slot miss in our kitchens,

(28:00):
and we're up and we all live on the strip,
and all we do is party and everything is a buffet.
And I don't know, maybe that's sort of true. No,
there's this, This is a really diverse eclectic community in
Las Vegas. An opportunity village is representative all of that.
We're going to break down the NFC East because there's

(28:20):
a lot to talk about. Carson Wentz is back, Dallas
is having their issues, what about Doc? What about Ezekiel.
We're gonna give you our thoughts in just a second,
but first let's go to the man who writes the
songs who make the young girls cry. It's Brian Family
with the latest. What an intro there, Bernie, Yeah, thank

(28:42):
you so much. Week one of the NFL preseason finished
up on Saturday. The forty nine Ers stiff the Cowboys
seventeen nine. Jalen Hurd reeled into touchdowns. Dak Prescott completed
all four of his passes, resulting in twenty three yards.
He also caught a ball first of his career. It
went for an negative yard. The Raiders pounce on the

(29:02):
Rams fourteen three. Blake Bortles started for Jared Goff. Bortles
went three for eight for fifty yards with a fifty
nine point four rating, and after the game, Rams said
coach Sean McVeigh added, quote, Bortles has showed that he
can be a big time quarterback. And he's really picked
up things nicely. I'm not sure what game he was watching.
Also post game, John Gruden shared his perspective on Antonio

(29:25):
Brown's helmet saga. The helmet thing as a personal matter
to him. You know, he has a strong failing about
what he's worn on his head, and we're supporting him.
We understand the league's position as well. So we're in
a tough spot and we hope Antonio is back here
soon because he's exciting to be around. I'm excited. I
got some plays for him. I hope we can start
calling him. Not sure how John says all that with

(29:47):
a straight face, but the Chiefs dominate the Bengals thirty seventeen.
Patrick Mahomes came in for one drive, went four for
four through the air for sixty six yards. And online
car shopping, you know can be confused, but not anymore
with true price from true car. Now you can know
the exact price will pay for your next car. So
if it's a true car to enjoy and we're confident

(30:08):
car buying experience. One baseball score your Don Alvarez blasting
three home runs as the Astros mutilate the Orioles twenty
three to back to Bernie Fretta when the Geico Fox
Sports Studios. Okay, Brian, since you invoked the silver and black,
are you watching Hard Knocks? Are you into it? Bernie?
You know I say I am, but I don't If

(30:28):
I want to watch a clown show, I can go
anywhere for that. It's basically Real Housewives, a series that show.
It's basically just another version of that, Brian. If we
can just get you to come out of your shell
a little bit and tell us how you feel, Bryan
Burr Singer usually have some interesting thoughts on these types
of things. Hard Knocks, Yes, you're watching it? Are you
into it? Actually? I did watch the first episode, but

(30:50):
I didn't watch it until yesterday because I'm not that interested.
But given the events of the last week, I think
this second episode is a bit more appointment viewing this
time could be right, by the way, Brian, Just so
everybody is clear on this, I am firmly of the
belief that Antonio Brown could have avoided this cryogenic mishap

(31:12):
if he'd simply been wearing socks with sandals. Bernie. We
have been saying this as a constant theme throughout the show.
Why wasn't he listening to us? So you know, maybe
I don't know, maybe he couldn't hear with his helmet on.
All right, maybe, Well enough of Antonio Brown, Sleepy. Let's
get to the ANFC East. I want to preview this division.

(31:34):
This is going to get a lot of I think
interest because the Philadelphia Eagles not that long ago, were
in the Super Bowl. They had a real rough year
last year. Right, they didn't have Carson Wentz Carson went
Stowe in two thousand seventeen, one healthy, thirty three touchdowns,
seven interceptions. They added some nice weapons. They got to

(31:55):
Sean Jackson, they got Jordan Howard, they got Malik Jackson.
The running game should open up passing panes. The Eagles
sleepy the fourth easiest schedule in the NFL this year,
and give it up to defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. Five
straight seasons where the Philadelphia defense has been in the
top five and allowing the fewest touchdowns the Eagles total

(32:17):
nine and a half. I've got them going over. Now,
let's talk about the Dallas Cowboys. Dallas, they've been a
model of consistency. You gotta give it up. They've had
nine wins or more than the last three seasons. For
the last five seasons, Dak Prescott, Who'm gonna get to
in a minute, top ten and completions all three seasons.
He's getting his veteran center Travis Frederick back. The Dallas

(32:41):
offensive line will be very good, possibly the best in
the NFL. They're gonna bring a top ten defense. The
last three years, they've been excellent at pressuring quarterbacks. Now,
I think you're gonna have to pay doc. I'm gonna
tell you a couple of things that I don't hear
anybody mentioning. What if I told you Dac has won
more games in his career than Carson Wentz and Jared Golf.

(33:04):
Dak has won two divisional titles. The total for the
Cowboys this year eight and a half. They're gonna figure
this out. I think they're going over as well. Now
here comes the rear. Bringing up the rear the Washington Redskins, Dude,
they got major issues. First of all, the quarterback case.
Keenum tenth Worth completion percentage in the NFL, big drop

(33:26):
off from Alex Smith. Now Dwayne Haskins is gonna be
a fine quarterback in the NFL. I think someday. I
don't know if he's ready yet, and I don't know
that they should rush him. But back to Keenham, only
six point six yards per tenth last year ranks, I
mean he and by the way, their defense, the Redskins
defense took a massive hit. They lost Preston Smith, they

(33:46):
lost Zak Brown, ha ha, Clinton Dix and after they
lost Alex Smith last year, they lost six of their
last seven games, and their cumulative quarterback play ranked in
QBR are the total six. I don't know how you
play that over, either stay away or get on the ender.
How about the New York Giants, that once proud franchise,

(34:08):
Their total is also six. I know Daniel Jones look
great last week against guys who will be working at
NAP Auto Parts in a month. Nothing against NAP Autoparts,
good Christian value is good work. But they're not NFL players.
Giants have won a total of eight games the last
two seasons. They've won six or fewer for the last
six seasons. Noah Dell Beckham laugh, clown laugh. They're gonna

(34:31):
miss him, all right. And by the way, Eli and
he'll start, make no mistake about it. You're not gonna
see Daniel Jones for a while, bottom of the third
and league in completion percentage, and he can no longer
throw deep. Meanwhile, did I mention that the Giants defense
has been abysmalt in sacks points allowed? Oh? Yeah, oh nothing.

(34:54):
They lost Olivier running in landon Collins as well. I
think when push comes to show, the Eagles and Cowboys
will ballot out for supremacy in the NFC East. Sleeping
any thoughts on the NFC East, Well, I'm with you
with the Giants and the Redskins pulling up the rear here.
So the NFC East. To me, Bernie, it's a two
horse race between the Eagles and the Cowboys. I know

(35:15):
the Eagles and Cowboys quite well. Mark my words, Bernie.
The Eagles overall depth is what's going to propel them
to the top of the NFC East Division. Bernie, the Eagles,
outside of the quarterback position, are probably the deepest team
in the entire league. If the Eagles, you know, have
an injury, and all teams have injuries, I don't think
the Eagles are gonna miss a beat. I think people
will overreact if they lose the guy. I'm telling you

(35:37):
this team is very, very deep. It's probably one of
the biggest upsides coming into the season. Yeah, I think
the Eagles will be very good. I think Doug Peterson
can coach too. And I think they're they're sort of
under the radar. You know, as long as Carson went
stays healthy, they're going to be very irrelevant. I think
it's a public service. I should weigh in on the
Cleveland Browns once a week just because they looked real

(35:57):
good and they're scrimmaged the other day. Why they wanted
they covered and Baker Mayfield look great and um, I
think it was on the Brian No Show earlier today
they played a SoundBite when that that cool rookie who
got the kickoff return to the part return. Yeah, so
I love that story. But their announcer and I shouldn't.

(36:19):
I shouldn't have invoked this without remembering his name. He says,
that's how it's gonna look when who in the a
f C. Dude, please pump the brakes. The Browns last
winning season with two thousand seven. The Browns last playoff
appearance was two thousand two. Their last playoff win was
the last time the Browns won a division title nineteen

(36:42):
eighty nine. That's your weekly Cleveland Browns public service announcement. Please.
I think it'll be a great story. It'll be fun
to watch, you know, you might as they've done everything
but have the parade now. One of the things we
like to talk about on this show is ways to
beat and there aret there is no shortage of waste

(37:06):
tibet here in Las Vegas. And I was telling Arnie
and Aaron about an hour ago a guy came into
town this week put ten grand in the Milwaukee Bucks
to make two grand to make the playoffs, but a
hundred grand on the six years to make two grands.
Someone put ten grand in the Vikings to win two
grand and win the super Bowl of the tickets to
win the college football Championship. By the way, you want

(37:27):
to catch the show. Next week, Brad Powers will be
in a college football extravaganza for the entire hour. One
of the ways tibet, though, is a little thing called teasers.
We're gonna talk about what to do, when not to do.
It's a good bet to do. They're fun and they
can be profitable, but you've got to be very careful.

(37:50):
So we'll give you some dues and don't on teaser
betting and don't forget best bets at the end of
the show. I'm Bernie Friderver Comedy Alive for the guy.

(40:24):
Couldn't be on the air without you. And of course
our on site jack of all trades former US Marine.
That would be Sleepy j and he loves his best
bet in a minute, but Sleepy. We talked about all
the different ways to bet. Teasers in the last twenty
years have become increasingly popular and if you aren't familiar
with the term, already a teaser. It's a betting option
that allow us a better to adjust point spreads on

(40:45):
multiple games before parlaying them for reduced payoffs. See, you
need two outcomes. I would never bet more than a
two team teaser, So I'm going to talk about that tonight.
And you can take any two games and add or
subtract six or seven points from the spread. If you,
for instance, play at six point teaser, then your juice

(41:08):
is probably minus one thirty seven point teasers probably minus.
I will give an example for instance, Let's say the
New England Patriots are laying eight points against the New
York Jets, and the Rams are laying seven and a a
half points against the Buffalo Bills. The key to having
success at teasers is to understand the key numbers in
football and do cross over all of them. The key

(41:31):
numbers are three, four, six, and seven. So if you
took that six points in teasing New England down among
us two over the Jets, but it looks a lot
more attractive. They basically just have to win. And if
you tease the Rams down it's one and a half
over Buffalo. These are examples again that looks attractive. You've
got New England and the Rams against two teams that

(41:53):
haven't been great, and they basically just have to win.
They need two outcomes. Conversely, let's say the pay Teach
are traveling to Kansas City and they're getting two points,
and the Saints are traveling to Houston and they're getting
two points. You can take that same six points and
add it to the Patriots. Now you've got no even
plus eight. They don't have to win, they just have
to lose by seven or less, and you've got the

(42:16):
Saints plus eight. If those two covered, one could win,
not right, again, you need two outcomes you cash. That's
the key to cross over either backward or forward. The
key numbers of three, four, six, and seven. Because the
islands makers are so sharp with these numbers that you'll

(42:37):
find if you stay disciplined with that, you've got a
chance to make money betting teasers. And if you can
move two teams through the key numbers, it's been proven
over the past decade that you've made a profit most likely.
Now teasers can also be used on totals. I do
not recommend that. I think it's a sucker bet. Since

(43:00):
two thousand three, NFL regular season games have gone over
the total two thousand and ten times, under the total
two thousand and twelve times, and pushed sixty seven times.
That's a tight number that proves these odds makers do
a very very good job. Here's where you get into trouble.
Let's say the total on the New England game was

(43:20):
forty two, and the total on the Rams game or
the Saints game, whatever the games I just mentioned forty two.
Would you say, while I can tease those down, they
just have to go over thirty five. It's really tempting.
You said the Patriots might score thirty five points by themselves.
What if I told you whether you tease up or
tease down when you play the total game, that total

(43:41):
only goes overcent of the time and under sixty seven
percent of the time. Again, you might take that forty
two point total and tease it up to forty nine. There,
that's too many. They're not gonna get fifty points. The
data doesn't tell us that. The data tells us that
the totals only break over or under sixty percent of

(44:03):
the time over two thousand games in the last sixteen years.
And if that happens, the best you can do is
only win your bets. So I do not recommend betting
teaser totals at all. I think it's a sucker bet.
And also, don't get caught up in something like, well,
you know, maybe New Winglands laying a big number eleven

(44:24):
and a half against somebody, you tease it up to
eighteen and a half and get cute. Don't do that.
Focus on the key numbers. Now, sleepy, I would venture
to say, as football is around the corner and we
can now give best bets in football, I do not
believe I'll be giving a teaser bet all year as
my best bet your quick thoughts on teachers. Before you
give us your best bet tonight, I will guarantee you

(44:46):
that I give out a teaser best bet. I really
like teaser best bets, Bernie. But I'll tell you what,
when you mentioned the thing with the totals, that was
something that I was unaware of. So I'm gonna be
a little bit more wiser about going ahead and teasing
totals like I used to in the past. I'll so
don't ever tease in college games. Oh no, no, no no,
because the data is different, and I do not recommend
doing a teaser for the first two or three weeks.

(45:08):
We'll get into more of this football this year, and
we're going to bring you the information that helps you
make this a profitable and fun adventure. Sleepy time for
best bets. You're up first, all right. I got to
four tomorrow NASCAR race, Bernie in Michigan. I'm gonna go ahead.
I'm gonna take you can't tease that canyon, and I
could take Joey Logano six to one to win the race.

(45:29):
He was the last Michigan race, So I'm gonna go
ahead and have him repeat here at least I hope
so MLB tomorrow, Bernie, did you see the Houston Astros
game that a twenty three runs. I'm gonna play them
on the run line tomorrow. It is a halfty price,
but I get very lander on the mount. He's been
an absolute beast and he's coming off of one of
his games in which he only pitch pitches, which is
very low for him. So I think Houston puts up

(45:50):
another big run total tomorrow and they cover the run line.
So I'm gonna take Houston minus to one and a
half minus two. Well, like you said, you certainly you
know you may be paying a real big price, but
you sure can't fade Houston. You can't get in front
of that juggernaut put up twenty three points in it
where they miss an extra point. I didn't watch the game,
all right, I'm here all weeks. Don't forget to try

(46:11):
to send my Boonlo spaghetti. All right, let me give
my best bet for the week. Tomorrow nine. It's the
National TV game. Actually, the Phillies are at the Giants,
and I can't say you would have gotten rich backing
Jake Arietta this this week or this year. He's had
plenty of maladies, and he's had some oddities. But tomorrow
they're small plus price on the road against the Giants,

(46:35):
So I like the Phillies plus five one oh five tomorrow.
By the way, next week, at this time, Brad Powers
is in our college Football Extravaganza. You do not want
to miss that. It's gonna be wall to wall college football.
It is that time of the year that's gonna do
