Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
That's right, you've heard the man. It is that time
of week. My name is Bernie Frottle. When you are
coming to you live from tyrack dot com studios here
in Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio. Tyrack dot Com will
help you get there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free Rhodazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tyrack

(00:24):
dot com the way tire buying should be. It is
Saturday night. Yes, it's late September, and I really should
be back in school, but there's too much football to
get into. Week three of the college football season twenty
twenty four version is in the books, and the headlines, well,

(00:46):
they're highlighted by quarterbacks, and they're highlighted by head coaches,
some already perhaps beyond the hot seat, whatever that might be.
I hear they're taking up a collection played at Florida already.
We'll get to that a little bit later. And you've
got some power schools flexing, and you've got some other
power schools flailing. But for me, easily the biggest story

(01:10):
of the day involves the family royalty name known as Manning,
and it goes back sixty years when Archie was an
MVP quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, even though they
were only eight and eight, that's how good he was.
And then, of course Eli and Peyton and now arch
and I do not think anybody should characterize what may

(01:34):
be coming up at Texas as a quarterback controversy. All right, However,
Arch Manning, this is so delicious, a rare individual. He
arrived at Texas in twenty twenty three, is arguably the
most hyped high school prospect in college football history, and
he showed exactly why. In Austin, Manning was pressed into

(01:58):
unexpected service. Quen you Weers departed during the game against
Texas San Antonio due to a strained abdomen, and immediately
there was a touchdown pass for nineteen yards on its
very first throw, and I thought, look good doing it.
Commanded the position, no deer in the headlights, ready for
the moment. Moment not too big. We've all seen Manning

(02:21):
touchdown passes before. But here's something you don't see with
the Manning unless you actually saw Archie play back in
nineteen seventy. But the truth of the matter is, even
Archie didn't look like this. Arch took the ball, ran
sixty seven yards for a touchdown once Texas got the
ball back. You heard that right, A Manning ran sixty

(02:43):
seven yards for a touchdown once Texas got the ball back. Now,
as much as I love Peyton Manning, for him to
do that, he would have had to call cap. Same
with Eli. The rot was on. The final numbers were
fairly remarkable for the young man. Twenty three yards passing
a whopping four touchdown passes again, plus the sixty seven

(03:06):
yard touchdown run. And make no mistake, he found an angle.
He was out running defensive backs. Watch the tape, Watch
it again, watch it again and again he did that.
It was a little bit of an odd sad site
to see quinn Ewers on the second half watching the
game in street close and we at this point know

(03:26):
of no reported timeline for his recovery. Now here's the question,
will the starting job be waiting for quinn Ewers when
he returns to the lineup. I don't know. Manning showed
why Texas fans should be really excited. They were going
to already be excited about the twenty twenty five campaign.
It's clearly Steve Sarkisian's putting together a powerhouse. But maybe

(03:49):
you don't wait till twenty twenty five. An odd ball situation.
Manning Arch was two hundred and twenty to one to
win the Heisman Trophy when you woke up this morning,
he's now twenty two to one. Am I saying that's
a good bet. No, But that's telling you right there,
that's telling you right there what the perception is. Speaking quarterbacks,

(04:12):
Jalen Milroe, you cannot start your early Heisman watch without
including Jalen Milroe. Entering Saturday's games, the only two Power
Five quarterbacks to start the season with three straight games
with at least two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns
were Tim Tebow and Johnny Manziel. That list is now three.

(04:34):
Jalen Milroe caps off a brilliant three week start. Klen
de Bor approving he's seamlessly going to take over to
Alabama so far, but I got a lot of faith
in him. Incredible showing they dominated Wisconsin. Alabama did and Milroe,
who's a senior one hundred and ninety six yards passing
three scores, rushed for seventy five yards two touchdowns. Alabama

(04:55):
hangs forty two on Wisconsin. And they look good doing it.
So the bor's been there half a month. In terms
of what the regular season, Milwrall already has seven hundred
and fifty yards of offense fourteen total touchdowns. Milroe is
an electric quarterback with his running ability. He's grabbing the headlines.

(05:18):
But right before our eyes, much like Jalen Hurts did,
he started to become a legitimate pocket passer, a fairly
explosive passer when he has time to set his feet
and look downfield and step into his throws. He was
throwing some dimes. He very consistent downfield. However, he's not
totally consistent down by down. But this is a dude

(05:40):
that can manufacture quick offense, just like that, like a
micro wave oven. Right before halftime, when Bama got the
offense at their own twenty seven yard line, they only
had forty four seconds to play. Bam a forty seven
yard completion Ryan Williams a twenty six yard completion to
Jeremy Bernard. All of a sudden, the Tide gets into
the end zone. They had twenty seconds left on the clock.

(06:00):
They left time for their opponent. I don't know if
Jalen Reilrole is going to continue this toward pace once
conference play begins. But if he does, put him down.
I hate this thing on your bingo card. As a
legitimate Heisman winner candidate. Florida coaches, please step fourd Billy Napier,

(06:24):
not so fast. Mole's telling me now that Florida they
will not have another home game in the Swamp until
October fifth, when UCF visits. We are hearing now it's
entirely possible Billy Napier will not be standing on the sidelines.
He will not be leading the Gators out of the tunnel.
At least that's what appears to be in play this year.

(06:45):
Now I get it. Florida's schedule this year was arguably
the toughest in the nation. I joked about the fact
that they started slow and now they're going to fade.
The tooth of the matter is it's worse than that
you lose to Texas A and M that's a outfit
head won a true road game in four years. They
completely dominated Florida on both sides of the scrimmage. Mike Elko,
who's been in College station for only three games, he's

(07:06):
made more progress in three games, and unfortunately Billy Napier
has in three years. I think you know where that's going. Georgia.
Another scare here. We're not with this new tournament. We
are hearing survive in advance and it's apropos. At the
end of the year, they're not gonna ask Kyle just
how many games you won? And Georgia did it again, Kentucky.

(07:28):
It's uncandy how they played Georgia tough the last few
years and they played just well enough to lose. And
who else plays not well enough to lose they just
play to lose. That would be Florida State. That's a
disaster of epic proportions. That's almost indescribable. After all the
bitching and whining, and that's not getting in the college

(07:51):
football playoff last year. And they did draw some sympathy,
but I said it a thousand times. The committee for
the National TV Invitational Tournament four team tournament invoked their
claw that if a player gets injured and it substantively
affects the performance on the field, they could take that
into consideration, which they did. Florida then went on and
lose to Georgia. If memory served sixty three to three

(08:11):
in their bowl game, and they continue on that role.
There was a sign with a Florida. A Florida fan
was front and center today with a bozo red wig
on a hat drinking something out of a water bottle.
I have no idea if it was water. It says
we are cooked, you are cooked. And at that time

(08:32):
Florida State was leading three zip Florida State only or
they're now on three only for the third time in history,
and the second time under Mike Norvel. Give it up
to Memphis. Memphis strolls in the town, they collect one
point three million dollars and they collect a victory dju

(08:52):
Maybe he can transfer somewhere else next year and we
can hear the narratives and how yeah, he's going to
do it, you know, maybe like Justin Fields, I don't
think it's going to happen, just saying I don't think
it's gonna happen. Meanwhile, Notre Dame bounces back the backyard
ball that delivered and Missouri and I don't know why
Missouri doesn't get more love. I think they now have
the longest wind streak of the nation with seven well

(09:16):
coached team for Eli Drinkwitz, and they hoist Vanderbilt next
week and then they get a bye. Then they go
to Texas A and M. But coming off their blowout
win in Florida State, I will tell you they're on
their way to a legitimate hope that Missouri ends up
in the playoffs. Why not, They're a good team if
you've seen to play. One final thought for you betting folks.

(09:37):
By the way, FESSIK five is coming up here in
just a few minutes. If you bet the under this
year in Florida State the win total of nine and
a half, well, congratulations, you've already clinched. I don't know
if you can catch that ticket now, depending on where
you shot, likely not. But set it aside, put it
under lock and key, you know, sell a Fhane wrap

(10:00):
in a mayonnaise jar like Johnny Carson since noon today.
However you want to do it, guard it with your life.
You're holding a winning ticket. Yes, it's only September fourteenth,
Florida State already clinched the under bet on a season
win total of nine and a half. Can't make this
stuff up, folks. So there's your college football Saturday, and
it rolls on. By the way, football fans for sure

Physic five.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
The time, it's the Phasick five. These are the five
things you need to hear about. Not with the only
backed up back Hilton Super Contest winner Steve fig here's
Bernie Fratto.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Well, Fez, it's late September and we really should be
back in school, but we can't let the peeps down.
They look forward to this segment. I know you were
off last week for a very good reason. People were
reaching out or it's Fez. Well you are back, folks.
Get your pens and psils ready, you're going to be
drinking through a fire hose. Welcome back in Fez for

(13:04):
another season with the phasant five.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
Oh my Daddy's Q make a living out of playing pool?

Speaker 2 (13:09):
Yep, nicely done. A little Rod Stewart to start the season,
whose spots we'd also picked up on. Very good, Fez.
We have fun with this segment. This is before we
dive into the slate. It's an interesting slate and as
you know, a week one very chalky favorites thirteen and
three out right nine and seven, instant number we two
can often be much different. We'll break it down, but Fez,

(13:32):
it's always good as you do every year to start
with a quick premer teasers are a favorite among betters.
What to do, what not to do? And oh, by
the way, there are in fact times if you want
to pair two teams together and get two outcomes due
you believe increase your chances of winning. There are times
when perhaps you should pair up moneyline favorites as opposed

(13:53):
to a teaser. Tell the folks what to do. So
when we give these best bets tonight have a better idea.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
So we're going to go quickly. So just in case
you don't get all this, you just have to remember
the name of one person, Stanford Wong. Now Stanford Wong
is a friend of mine. I worked with him in
the nineties. He wrote a book called Sharp Sports Betting,
and he explains all this in his book about teasers.
So go get his book if you can't write this
all down, but if you can write it down. Basically,

(14:22):
the Wong teaser consists of playing any underdog that plus
one and a half, plus two or plus two and
a half, You're going to play a six point taser.
You're going to play them up to approximately plus eight,
capturing if you will, the key numbers of three, four, six,
and seven that corridor. Also, you can play home favorites
only home favorites and not road favorites. Home favorites of

(14:42):
approximately eight points. It could be my seven and a half,
my eight or mis eight and a half. You tease
them down to minus two ish. Example this week would
be the Baltimore Ravens. We're going to take them from
minus eight down to minus two. That would be a
long teaser. In the New York Giants, plus one and
a half up to plus seven and a half would
be the second leg of a long teaser. Very important.

(15:03):
You cannot be laying more than minus one twenty, so
books like DraftKings still have that pricing minus one twenty
or better. It's still a profitable teaser to play all
of these. It is held up for the years. What's
not profitable, Burnie, is when you try to tease other things,
specifically six and six and a half point favors. There's

(15:23):
three of them this week. You don't want to tease
Kansas City, you don't want to tease the Houston Texans,
and you don't want to tease the Philadelphia Eagles. And
here's why. When you tease the six and a half,
you tease it basically down.

Speaker 5 (15:36):
To minus a half.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
It's the same as playing the money line. Well, you
know what, it turns out if you just bet the
money line, you get cheaper prices. So if you parlay
these two teams together as a money line, you'd be
like laying like minus one oh five of these shops
for good prices. Why put it in a teaser where
you'relaying minus one twenty and you can play the money
line at a more attractive price with an identical bet.

(16:00):
The teams don't wind up.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
Time words to live by, and if you aspire to
make money as a better you allow the math to
work for you. Like fest said, allow the math to
work for you. Tease up through three, four, six, and seven.
Conversely back down fails. I often have you great some
of my plays I had Thursday night, the Buffalo Bills
teased up to eight and a half, and I've actually

(16:21):
got them paired to the Baltimore Ravens down to minus two.
And oh, by the way, why don't we start there
because the Raiders visit the Ravens. I got to tell you,
Lamar Jackson not necessarily great as a home favorite of
more than five points. What's your handicap on this game?

Speaker 4 (16:41):
So there were some sharp guys that did take the
Raiders back when it was nine and a half. Obviously
bad for the Raiders to travel across the country. Bad
that their coach is. He's just so conservative, and it
drives me crazy because everyone knows you're supposed to be aggressive.
Everyone who watches these games knows that's the way to go.

(17:01):
And if you're playing an opposing coach that is ultra
aggressive and makes those calls, you're tearing your hair out.
You're like wow. Example today in college football, so Georgia
almost got beat by Kentucky, and Kentucky punts on fourth
and eight for midfield. If you would bet Georgia money line,
like please God, punt, you'll never see the ball again.
The game will be over. But if you go for it,

(17:23):
you might actually win. And his coaches just just drives
me crazy. So that always concerns me because now he's
going to be torn. He wants to be more aggressive
because he's getting criticized. But the flip side is that
he doesn't want to show that he was wrong last week,
because of course he was. I don't trust Pierce at all.
I don't trust the Raiders. They're a horrible team. The
best bet to make, I think, is to play the

(17:44):
Raiders under six and a half the season wins. That's available, Bernie.
Raiders are not winning seven games this year.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
Not going to take the opposite side of that. Let's
look to Los Angeles the Chargers as they head to Carolina.
Dave Canalis a RUSS star and its opener. You saw
what happened there and oddline Fez opened at four and
a half Chargers laying it on the road. I think
it got steamed. Did you see six is out there?
Did it make it to six anywhere?

Speaker 4 (18:11):
I actually caught a seven at one place, but that.

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Oh my god, but you're stealing money.

Speaker 4 (18:17):
Six was basically the market number then and then money
came back. I'm torn because everything says bounce back spot
Carolina should be the bet, but the quarterback can't play
alect and that makes it very difficult. Now that the
line isn't sixth ay more, that makes it easier. I
would not invest in Carolina. If it goes back up
with Mike tomorrow and it goes back up to six,

(18:38):
you probably didn't make it. Bet.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Just don't watch the game doing It's not a game
I'm going to be involved in. The Saints go marching
into Dallas. See what I did there. I believe the
current line is six Cowboys minus six. Are we correct
on that?

Speaker 4 (18:51):
We are Yes, now the I have.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
An opinion on this game. Of the Saints, they had
the largest margin of victory week one plus thirty seven.
I think that is a total fagazy. I'm not a
Derek Carr at all. You know, Reggie Jackson was called
mister October by George Steinbrenner. Dave Winfield was called mister
May by George Steinbrenner. I called Dak Prescott mister September.

(19:16):
This is where they live. I expect Dallas to win
this game by double digits.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
Your thoughts, hey, it beats being mister August, which is
Seneca Wallace, who was great in preseason. You know, I
only make this game four and a half, Bernie, so
because of that, I lean to the Saints. But you're right,
Dallas has been better at home in recent years and
better early in the season, so I did not personally
that's the same, So I passed.

Speaker 2 (19:41):
All right, let's move along this next game. I'm gonna
tell you we may have a fun discussion on this.
One is my second best bet of Sunday. I have
grabbed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers plus seven a couple of reasons, Fez.
The Lions had an overtime game last Sunday night whenever,
and NFL team plays an overtime game and they have

(20:02):
less than seven days to prepare. I know we're splitting
hairs here. They covered just forty one percent of the time.
But I got to tell you, I really like Tampa's
offense with their new offensive coordinator, Liam Cohen. He's brilliant
at setting up his rob tree screen passes, d passes,
putting his playmakers in position to score. It's a good offense.

(20:23):
And the Lions defense was on the field for seventy
four plays. And I know it's a short sample, but
the Rams moved the ball on them. The Lion's currently
twenty ninth in the league and yards per play seven's
a lot of points to give the Buccaneers here. And oh,
by the way, I know they've got some cluster injuries
at dB, but I think that's built into that's baked
into the line. Your thought as Tampa Bay is my

(20:44):
second best bet of the weekend.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
Well, you did my handicap earlier in the week I
bet plus seven also, and then, to my horror, the
line just keeps going higher and Tampa's secondary has some
atrocious injuries so that's why they're you know, they're betting Detroit.
But you know what, well, now it's seven half and
there's even an eight at one book book maker, and
north of seven, I think you got it, bet Tampa.

(21:08):
I also bet the over fifty one for the reasons delaid.
I think Campa is going to get lots of points.
Detroit's not going to get stopped very often. I like
the over as well.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
I think the back door stays open. And I think
Tampa Bay is going to be a very game team
this year. These two teams have not played. This will
be their third game now in a year. They played
twice last year, including in the playoffs, and as you recall, Fez,
Tampa Bay was catching six in the playoffs six and
a half, excuse me, and if they'd made that two
point conversion, it would have covered. But that's the story
for a different day, all right. Colts Packers not a

(21:39):
game I'm involved in. Packers have the I believe the
Colts laying two and a half in green Bay? Is
that what you show?

Speaker 6 (21:45):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (21:46):
And with Willis being the quarterback for Green Bay, normally
I would have this at like a seven point down Greade,
but since he's only been there for like two weeks.
I actually think it's a nine point down.

Speaker 5 (22:00):
Great.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
I cannot set the Packers. I would only lean dandy.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
Yes, it's my understanding. Malik Willis has thrown sixty seven
passes as a pro, and he has exactly the same
number of touchdown passes as you do. I have a
simple statement for this game. What you're talking about Willis.
He's not a major league quarterback. I thought the Colts
as a divisional home dog covered We're very game against
a tough Houston team last week. I am not involved

(22:27):
in this game, but I can only look to the Colts.
You may have said this already. Are you in? Did
you fire on this game at offense?

Speaker 4 (22:33):
I did not, But I have no interest in the Packers.
It's Colts or nothing.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
Okay. That said that, Jacksonville Cleveland was embarrassed at home
soundly by the aforementioned Dallas Cowboys. I show they're catching
three in Jacksonville. Again, not a game I'm going to
be involved in. I believe Deshaun Watson is a shot fighter. However,
that Jim Schwartz defense coming off that loss, I'm sure
film room Monday was quite raucous with a lot of

(22:58):
foul language. Thoughts on Cleveland catching three at Jacksonville.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
It is three, it might go to three and a
half tomorrow. It's leaning that way above three. I would
bet Cleveland, So listen, we don't want to overu just
to one week. I know Cleveland has problems on the
O line and Watson can't play apparently, but nevertheless, that
was known before the season started, and jacksone was supposed
to win eight and a half games and Cleveland was
supposed to win nine, despite Cleveland having the harder schedule,

(23:25):
so Cleveland was perceived to be the better team. Now
they get in three in a place Jacksonville that has
very limited home field advantage unless they're playing in London,
which they're not. And because of that, the value is
with the Browns. Jacksonville didn't do anything special last week
to make me upgrade them, so Lean Brown.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Hey, let me digress, ever so quickly, FHAZ because we
want to cover it all here on the phasic five.
It should be noted regarding the Detroit Tampa Bay game,
the Lions FAZ are fifteen and six against the spread
since the start the twenty twenty three season. Number one
in the NFL. I do believe though, that's baked into
the cake, that's baked into this bread. With the Lions

(24:07):
laying seven, do you agree or would you not be
afraid to maybe lay the seven because of the Lion's
proficiency against this spread the last two years.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
Well, at the current line of seven and a half,
I would never ever lay it, But it falls into
long teaser, so it certainly would be willing to choose
the Lions because I do think they're going to win
the game in the shootout. So my seven a half,
in my opinion, is a very bad bet because the
long teaser is the superior of the best. If you're
going to invest in the Lions, that is the.

Speaker 2 (24:33):
Way to go. Well, absolutely, you never you never want
to get the worst of the line, no question about that,
Faz All Right, Moving along, this is a game that'll
be talked about a lot. Again, I'm not involved San
Francisco visits Minnesota. I'm showing the current line. Well, depending again,
way a shop four and a half, five, five and

(24:53):
a half? What line are we working off here? San Francisco, Minnesota?

Speaker 4 (24:57):
Yeah, let's call it five And I have a really
good handicap on this game, Bernie, I lean to the Vikings,
But here's why you shouldn't bet the Vikings. You should
bet the Vikings next week because they're hosting Houston and
that line is four. Now the Niners, although ce Max
and drewed and they have some injuries, the Niners are
better than Houston. And they're better by anywhere from two

(25:18):
to three points depending upon your power ratings. So here's
where I'm going. Given that the Viking's going to play
a much inferior opponent, why invest next week? Why invest
in them this week getting only five when we can
get almost the same point spread next week and play
a far lesser opponent. So if you like the Vikings
in this game, I would save some money and invest

(25:39):
in them next week plus four hosting Houston.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
And I know a lot of sharp moneys come in
on the home team Vikings. San Francisco is six and
three against the number as a road favorite the last
two seasons, pretty tough to go against. I think this
Niners team is going to be very good again. You've
got continuity between the GM, the head coach, and the quarterback.
It's almost like Carmon policy. Bill Wats Joe Montana. They

(26:05):
showed their medal against a very good team, the Jets.
The defense is better than they showed. I think San
Francisco is that good. I don't think I want anything
to do with this game. Another eyeball game. You've got
Gino Smith laying a field goal on the road. Is
a visit New England. Gino Smith a road favorite. You
know since Tom Brady, though left the Patriots, the New

(26:27):
England Patriots have been a home down faz thirteen times,
but they've only covered four. Where do you go in
this game?

Speaker 4 (26:35):
So the line on this game was three. Last week
on the look Aadlede and I met Seattle, Myles Street.
I like Seattle, and this is the way pros do
do things, Bernie. As you know, everything changes. So Seattle
met expectations. They're supposed to win by six. They won
by six against Denver. New England crushed expectations where they're
an eight point dog at Cincinnati and they controlled the game.

(26:59):
They won the stats, won the game. I have to
upgrade New England by anywhere from a point and a
half to two points. So this line should no longer
be three. This line should be like if you argue
it should have been three and a half. Now we've
got to make it two or two and a half.
It's still three. It's actually three point two five. Pulling
back the curtain. Right before the show, I drove over
to Station Casino, Local Casino. I bet plus three and

(27:22):
a half, lay a dollar twenty. I like the Patriots,
and even at plus three, even money, which is readily available,
I would invest in the.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Patriots fair enough. That's the only sat I can look to.
I'm not involved in that game, nor am I involved
in this next game. I think it's a tough call
the Jets, again, depending on where your shop. Laying three
and a half four at Tennessee. The long flight back
from Brazil, they face a Tennessee team who I think
has got a better front seven than people might realize.
The Jets don't exactly have an embarrassment of riches on offense. Meanwhile,

(27:52):
the Titans are five and one against the spread as
a home dog in the last two seasons. Do you
have a thought on that game, Paz, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (27:59):
So we will talk about Philly and Green Bay. It's
a great point about the impact that those teams travel. Now,
the Jets didn't have to come back from Sal Paulo,
but they had about two thirds of that travel. Instead
of five thousand miles, they had three thousand miles to
come back from San Francisco. They didn't get home until Tuesday,
right around ten am. They got back to their houses.
Then Saturday they got to fly to Tennessee. So there's

(28:21):
another fifteen hundred miles or whatever on their Frequent Flyer cards.
So that's about the same as going to Polo Alfo
or Powell or South Paulo. So the Jets are are
jet lagged and Titans pony lost. They outplayed the Bears.

Speaker 5 (28:37):
I like the Titans.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
Yeah, I could only look to the Titans as well.
All right, call me crazy, I'm just going to spill
the beans. I think the New York Giants beat the
Commandos outright. The line has been driven down from plus
three I believe the Opens now plus one and a half.
Divisional dog I don't think. I don't think the Giants
are going anywhere this year. But it's funny how teams

(29:01):
in the NFL can look so bad the week before.
And I'll tell you what I'm alluding to the Giants.
They'll look better Sunday. But Jamee Daniels says, I'm sure
you know this. Since the year two thousand, twenty seven
first round quarterbacks started their first game Week one in
the NFL, they were five and twenty two straight up
four and twenty three against the number. It's even worse

(29:24):
week two. I think it's going to be a long
day for Jade and Daniels. I think the Giants will
write the ship if you want to call it that,
and they steal a victory in Washington. Call me crazy?
Am I right or wrong? You're right.

Speaker 4 (29:35):
I just haven't been a plus one and a half,
a plus two or plus two and a half in
the NFL in twenty years because I always tease them.
So back to our teaser discussion. If you missed it,
you just came in. We love teasing plus one a half,
plus two and plus two and a half points dogs
to all tease the Giants with the Baltimore Ravens.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
So this next number, I'm not gonna lie surprised me.
The Rams a short favorite on the road to open
minus two and a half. A ton of Arizona Cardinal
money has come in. What's the current line, fanz? Is
it Rams plus one pick them where you showing it.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
The current line is pick, which means my marketing is
lousy because this was my false favorite game of the month.
How can you have a false favorite when there is
no false favorite.

Speaker 7 (30:17):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (30:17):
It's like false face from the Batman original TV show.
But I did bet Arizona when they were an underdog,
and I would still lean that way a pick. It's
all about the injuries the rams. They still have alignment suspended.
They have three of their other linemen injured, and one
of their backup linemen is injured as well, and with
so much continuity messed up with that, I think that

(30:39):
that's going to be a big problem. Not to mention,
we all saw them run out of gas Sunday night
and overtime, so they're coming off that overtime game on
top of it, Arizona's a team that the pros have
liked and they backed in the season win market.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
I'm on Arizona and well the great Hoy PELOI continued
to seeing Matt Stafford's praises is if needs the great
greatest thing since pepperonip So throws a horrible pick right
before the end of halftime that costs the Rams the game.
I'm sorry, the kind of maddening thing he did in Detroit,
over and over and over. Had a great second half,
too bad two SAEC. Everybody was calling it a good loss, Fez,

(31:13):
good loss for the Rams. No such thing as a
good loss in the National Football League. No such thing.
That's like saying a good kidney stone. We move on.
Bengals in Chiefs. This is one, depending on how Joel
Burrow's wrist is holding up, is going to be very interesting.
Bengals fees, though notoriously slow starters in the National Football
League one in six straight up weeks one and two

(31:36):
in the last four years. Your thoughts on Bengals Chiefs.

Speaker 4 (31:38):
This is a battle between two groups, So the Bengals
in one. By the way, all in one teams have
been really good against one and oh straight up teams.
If you did nothing but back teams like the Bengals
zero one or like the Denver Broncos ollen one against
a team that won last week, you've been profitable in
your subsets. So there's not very many of them. So also,
the Bengals have played the Chiefs very well. I can't

(32:00):
get past the eye test. They watched the New England game,
and they were awful. Obviously Higgins being injured and Chase,
you know, getting into camp light. That could be a
real problem with Burrow, who may not be one hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (32:11):
I passed the game Steelers Broncos and a game that
will feature two offenses that will resemble the drunk crossing
an icy street justin Fields will never get a penny
of my money. Yet they're a two and a half
point favorite on the road in Denver.

Speaker 4 (32:25):
Your thoughts, so, listen, Denver used to be fantastic week one,
in Week two of the regular season, and the handicap
was sound teams aren't in football shape. They go to
altitude and that really impacts the road team that's not
used to it. Now it hasn't been as good of late.
There's been a whole lot of pushes against the spread.

(32:45):
And the reason I bring this up, as far as
the pushes, this line was three and a half, came
down to three, then down to two and a half.
And now I'm hearing a lot of people, a lot
of the media, quote unquote experts saying, oh, I still
like the Broncos plus two and a half, And I
can tell you a professional better, Bernie. This chased me
more than anything else I've worked with betting syndicates. I'm

(33:06):
currently a betting syndicate. If you work for me and
you show me a ticket that said Denver plus three
and a half, I'd give you a raise. If you
show me a ticket with Denver plus three, I'd give
you your paycheck. If you show me a picture of
Denver plus two and a half, I'd fire you immediately.
That's how important the three is. Here's why. Here's why.
If that plus three bet on Denver. Let's assume you
win fifty, you bet one hundred times, you win fifty,

(33:29):
you lose forty, and you push ten. That's your style
on fifty five point fifty and forty. If you bet
Denver plus two and a half, now you go fifty
and fifty, you pay the vega, you lose. That's how
important getting that hook on the three is.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
All right, I'm going to jump ahead to the Monday
night game because the Sunday night game is going to
be my best bet, so quickly fez Falcons Eagles teams
who lose outright as a favorite week one cover sixty
six percent Week two. Does that lead you to the Falcons.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
It does, but the itest says Cousins can't move at all,
he doesn't look recovered, and the play calling looks It
looks as simple as if he's in shotgun, he's throwing,
if he's in pistol, he's running, and he doesn't take
snaps under center. It sure looks like an easy offense
to defend. That was awful against the Steelers. I am
not optimistic about Atlanta. I played Atlanta under nine and

(34:22):
a half wins minus one sixty. I love that bet, Bernie.
How is this team winning ten games even with the
cupcakes schedule. I cannot invest in Atlanta at less than seven.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
All right, let's wrap this up. I'll give you my
best bet. We'll take your best bet. My best bet
involves the Bears Texans. I don't like. I love the
Texans here. I think they pull acts the Bears. Caleb
Williams did not look good. He did not look good
in the preseason. The Bears needed a special teams touchdown
to pick six to win at home against the Titans
last week. Now they get CJ. Stroud and a team

(34:54):
that's loaded on both sides of the ball. I think
the Texans real big. I've grabbed, I've laid the wood.
Your thoughts.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
Yes, I can't disagree. A totally phony win by the Bears.
And my best bet is gonna be the Tennessee Titans.
I'm gonna catch take the take the plus four against
the Jets, and I'm gonna give you a little bonus pick.
I think the Jets are in deep trouble. The Jets
are gonna have to play three games in eleven days.
I got to play Thursday night, Bernie, I'm gonna break
for my roaman to give your parlay. I'm gonna say,

(35:20):
parlay the Titans this week. We're gonna bet against the
Jets this week, and we're gonna parlay the betting against
the Jets next week Thursday Night. We're going to take
the Patriots plus seven as well in a parlay, a
line that will not hold after the Jets lose outright
in Tennessee. This line is going to come down to
six for a highed Jets team. So we're also going
to play the Jets week three and back the Patrios fas.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
Good luck Sunday, Bud, We'll see you next week. Thanks
so much. You're the best Bernie there it is the
Phasic five. Steve Hasik. The only two time winner back
to back are the Hilton now the prestigious Hilton now
Westgate Super Contest. Come it up. You think the NFL
viewership is going down anytime soon, Well set another record
last week. I'll tell you what happened Week one. I'm

(36:03):
Bernie Fraderwick Kenedy lyon from the Las Vegas Fox Sports
Radio Tarrack dot Com Studios. Keep it locked and listening
to the Bernie Foundles Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (36:11):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
All right, back in the Bernie Fraddle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
We are coming you live from the Tarat dot Com
studios here in Las Vegas. Just wrapping up the Physic five.
He heard the best bets. And by the way, uh,
in case you missed it, you know we've said this

(36:34):
a thousand times. It just appears that the NFL has
built a machine that can only go forward. Uh. The
full audience results from NFL's Week one is now in
the dominance of the NFL and that they own one, two, three,
I don't know, maybe four days of the week. Now
the bullets results just continue to go bananas. The full

(36:55):
slate of the NFL's opening weekend averaged averaged one million
viewers across all platforms. That is the most watched week
one on record, up twelve percent from just a year ago.
That's astronomical. By the way, the cumulative viewership between September
fifth and September ninth, one hundred and twenty three million

(37:17):
people watched NFL game's largest such viewership since twenty nineteen.
Enough slightly from the one hundred and twenty two million
from the twenty twenty three season. The only reason wasn't
even up more is because you had the September sixth
game between the Packers and Eagles in Brazil, and it
was unusual because it was a Friday night broadcast. And

(37:40):
what made it even more unusual, it was a streaming broadcast.
It was exclusively aired on Peacock only. That still drew
fourteen million people, which is the second most watched event
in the history of Peacock period. You think the NFL
executives are happy, You think the league is happy. You
think Roger Goodell is happy. Within those overall figures now, Oh,

(38:02):
by the way, Sunday afternoon coverage on CBS and Fox
averaged eighteen point four million viewers per game. The Tom
Brady game had almost twenty four million viewers. Compare that
with sixteen million a year ago when Dallas is opener
in the four o'clock slot. Pacific Time checked that Eastern
Time did not feature Tom Brady. The highest opening Sunday

(38:26):
afternoon viewership since twenty sixteen. ESPN even averaged twenty point
four million viewers across all their Disney on networks for
Monday Night football between the Jets and the forty nine Ers. Now,
to be fair, that figure is actually down ten percent
from last year's record setting figure, and I think it's
partly because we remember, they're just coming off that DirecTV

(38:49):
Disney carriage dispute, which was just resolved yesterday. Still, even
with all those affiliates not able to watch maybe in
one of them on the ESPN because I have DirecTV,
still the second most watched Monday night football season debut
in nineteen years. So to imply that the NFL heading

(39:10):
into Week two has incredible momentum, it would be an understatement.
And there's only one other thing that the NFL is
perhaps concerned about. There are going to be fewer Monday
Night simulcasts between the ABC channel and the ESPN channel,
an ESPN affiliate because of the upcoming US presidential election.

(39:33):
But any way you slice it, Roger Goodell's stated record
of driving the National Football League to a twenty five
billion dollar annual industry I think is well on its way.
We're all going to be watching. And hey, ten hours
and six minutes from now, it all starts up again,
and you know we're going to be there coming up.
Mark Medina, Medina Magic. It's midnight. We're just a few

(39:54):
days away from the opening of the NBA season training camp.
We'll tell you what we got going keep it locked.
It's the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio. Yup,
that's right. You heard the man, Bernie Fradleshow keeps rolling
right along. My name is Bernie Frattle. We are coming
to your line from the tyrack dot com studios here
in Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio. Tyrack dot Com. We'll

(40:17):
help you get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping
for your Roodazer protection and over ten thousand recommend it
installers tyraq dot com the way tire buying should be Well.
We are just days away from the start of NBA
training camp, There'll be plenty of storylines we'll start to

(40:39):
dive into that. So without further ado, let me just
say this, it's that time. Mark Medina Medina Magic joined
us every Saturday night at midnight Pacific. As the NBA
is become an entity, that is warranted. I believe fifty
two week coverage because there's always news that we want

(40:59):
to get out ahead of it. Mark, are you fired
up for the start of the training camp here just
in a few days?

Speaker 5 (41:06):
Yeah, Bernie, A training camp is not gonna start for
another two weeks, but I'm already in game shape. I'm
ready to go.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Yeah. You know, darn well, those two weeks we'll go
by fast. One of the narratives that's floating around in
the ether is finally now Adam Silver is acknowledging genuine
interest in NBA expansion. It seems like the worst kept secret.
It feels like it's going to be Seattle in Las Vegas.
What can you tell us?

Speaker 5 (41:31):
Well, I think, to Adam Silver's credit, he's acknowledged it.
But until the media rights negotiations were settled this past year,
he said that, you know, the NBA was putting that
on the back burner because you know, they're facing a
deadline with the current media rights to expiring after next season. Now,
expansion is now on the agenda, but you know, he

(41:53):
pumped the brakes on any expectation that's going to happen
like anytime soon. I think that they're you know, there
are some things to take into consideration that when you
add more teams. Yes, theoretically that means you add more revenue,
but that means that there's also more slice of the
pie for every team to share because they go through

(42:16):
revenue sharing. And so I think that there's the natural
push pool of that, and I think that there's the
natural push pool of figuring out, you know, the timing
of when to add teams, because if you add one team,
I think it's just common sense suggests that you'll have
to add another team to ensure that there is you know,
balance between the Western and Eastern Conference. I think, you know,

(42:40):
the expectation that I've had, you know, with talking to
people around the league, you know, dating back to last year,
is that the natural order will be that Seattle will
be first because of their ties to the SuperSonics and
the feelings that that fan base had when Seattle, relocate
Oklahoma City, and then Las Vegas will be now because

(43:01):
of just the fact that they've already been a hotbed
for the NBA with Summer League, you know, having preseason
games there for certain teams. You know, obviously the WNBA
team has a franchise there. And now you may think, well,
both of these teams are in the West. What happens, Well,
I think that moving forward, there would be some teams

(43:21):
that are in the Western Conference that would naturally, you know,
move to the East, like a Minnesota or New Orleans.
So none of these things are eminent, but I think
that what I outlined is what's going to happen at
some point.

Speaker 2 (43:35):
And now that the TV deal is in the books,
which was the final checking point, I agree with you
that I don't think you'll see either of those new
franchises tip off before twenty twenty eight. But I do
think it's imminent that the train is on the tracks.
And in terms of development and construction development, what I've
heard here in Las Vegas, it just feels like, yes,

(43:55):
there will not be a you know, game anytime soon,
but it feels like, you know, the trainings on the tracks,
you know, with instant replay and replay and things of
that nature previating college football, the NFL in Major League baseball,
why not add more to the NBA's my understanding marked
his past week, the league's board of governors approved the

(44:18):
scope as to where a coach can challenge reviews on
certain out of bounds plays. In the reference to key
play between Dallas and Minnesota last year involving Jaden Daniels
and Kyle Irving. Your thoughts, tell the folks what we
can expect next year more game delays is coaches challenging
bound plays.

Speaker 5 (44:35):
I think here foreshadow of it. I mean they the
you outlined it well that basically the NBA allowed that
the use of coaches challenge with reviewing can include out
of bounce plays, And so I think, you know, the
idea is you want to get the call right, but
this is now going to open up possibilities for more delays.
So I'm always mixed on this because I want, you know,

(45:00):
officials to get the call right, especially once a close game.
But I think a very important part about how officiating
is evaluated, if you know, they ensure kind of the
smooth flow of the game where you know they're going
to get things wrong. They're going to get things right,
but at least the game is moving in rhythm, and
when you're having a game feature a lot of foul

(45:21):
shots and a lot of whistles, that's not moving in rhythms.
So it's tough. But you know, the NBA and the coaches,
they're always having that push pool feel of wanting calls
right because it affects the bottom line, but also wanting
games to move, you know, in a good pace. And
the league feels the same way because they want to

(45:43):
feel like there's integrity of the game and the officiating
crews are gaining it right, but they also want to
don't want to turn away the viewers and make them
feel like they're watching a three hour documentary when it's
really an hour and a half two hour game.

Speaker 2 (45:59):
I agree with all you points. Mark. In June, Jerry West,
the Great Jerry West, passed at the age of eighty six.
You mentioned that training camps are fourteen days away, not
too much longer after that. October twenty second, the Lakers
will open up at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It's
my understanding they will honor Jerry West that night and
also the Lakers this season will were a patch with

(46:21):
West number forty four on their jerseys. Tell us more
about that if you can.

Speaker 5 (46:26):
Yeah, I mean, that's exactly what they're going to do.
And I think that it's also fitting because Jerry West
is going to get induct in the Maasmith Memorial Basketball
Hall of Fame for a third time, this time as
a contributor, specifically for his body of work as an executive.
He's already been the Hall of Fame as a player
being mister Clutch, as well as being a member of

(46:49):
the nineteen sixty Olympic team that want a gold medal,
and so here it's all about his body of work
in the front office, and that body of work has
been really impressive because we look at the Lakers specifically,
you know, there's no showtime Lakers that wins five championships
about Cherry West. There's also no Shaquille and Eel Kobe
Bryant tandem because Cherry West moved Hevin North to get shack.

(47:12):
He's he often told me and others that that was
the most one of the most exhausting periods of his life.
I mean, he had to go to the hospital afterwards
because of just how much of a physical toll that
took on him. And before that, he had the foresight
to you know, trade Blody Devots and to get a
young phenom in Kobe Bryant because of just what he

(47:35):
saw on tape that infamous workout. In person, he knew
that he was going to be special, So you know,
you topped that on top of that, you know, he
was able to you know, revitalize Memphis. He was a
very strong and important voice with Golden State's dynasty and
the Clippers with just you know, he wasn't making major decisions,

(47:58):
but he was the least keeping the front office and check.
So it is very deserving that the Lakers are honoring
with him with those gestures. But you know, I also
hope that it makes up at least a little bit
for some misfeelings towards the end of his time, because
you know, they they did not end things well on

(48:19):
a good foot. I mean, Jerry West will be the
first to tell you that he felt like the Lakers
disrespected him with not considering him to be a part
of the front office when Gene Busts made those changes
with firing her brother, firing Mitch kupcheck in twenty seventeen.
But you know, this doesn't make up for it as
at least at what they can.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
Do mhat with Mark Mendina Medina Magic every Saturday night
at midnight Pacific on the Bernie Frattle Show. You know,
the Dallas Mavericks, to me, Mark, are a team really
going to have to pay attention to brick by brick.
They are building what I believe is a really legitimate

(49:00):
championship caliber roster. We know they you know, you got
Kyrie Irving and you had Klay Thompson, someone under the radar.
The other day they brought back Markith Morris. Now, Markith
Morris isn't gonna wow. He had two points a game
in eight minutes a game. But it's my understanding the
reason they did that is because he brings a certain
leadership aura to the roster and the franchise that is

(49:23):
very much valued by the front office and the coaching staff.
That's lost on me. I've never seen Markith Morris as
that type of guy. Tell me what I'm missing, because
you're closer to the situation than I am.

Speaker 5 (49:34):
Yeah, I mean, he's a good locker room guy. He's
very versatile, as a player. But I think the bigger
thing about Dallas, I mean, he's not going to make
or break their championship fortunes. I mean, he's a nice
added piece because of what I mentioned, But I think
it's the bigger thing they're really hitting on is unlike
the beginning of Luca Doctors' career with Dallas, he now

(49:58):
has a legitimate team around him as a very consistent
co leader and producer in Kyrie Irving, and he has
a supporting cast. And not only does he have depth
in that supporting cast, but they're also really good defenders. Now.
Interestingly enough, I think this has more to do with
the fact that the Western Conference is loaded, but you know,

(50:18):
it does provide a window into what expectations are around
the league. Talking to some you know, coaches and executives
these last few weeks, you know they're they're feeling in
the Western Conferences there's a lot more favoritism toward Oklahoma
City because they got Shay Giligis Alexander really young talent
that could be in the running for MVP, a really

(50:38):
good young roster which at home grown being a really
good defender, making a good pick up with Isaiah Hartenstein,
you know, just really good depth across the board, and
the Denver Nuggets, even though they're not the same championship
caliber team they were two years ago, they still have
Jamal Murray, Nicole Jokich, Michael Porter Jr. And there are

(50:59):
some questions about where Dallas fits in that mix because
of how strong those two teams are. But they are
doing all the right things, and if they are going
to make a championship ron it's got to be about
obviously Luca and Kyrie being at their best, but also
having help and so so far they're doing the right things,
most notably with their off season edition with Jane Klay Thompson.

(51:21):
I don't think he'll be the Clay before pre injury,
even though Michael Thompson, his dad was adamant he could be.
But I think that he is going to have a
bounced back season and that's partly because new environment, but
partly because he's going to have so many open shots
with Kyrie and Luca gain a lot of double skins.

Speaker 2 (51:40):
Time with Mark Mendina Medina Magic every Saturday night, twelve
midnight Pacific on The Bernie Frattle Show. So a story
came out of Phoenix this past week. I'm not sure
if you want to comment it, if you are able
to comment on it, but it certainly makes the headlines.
And next Sun's employee who was terminated at this past
here after being there less than a year, you're seeking

(52:03):
sixty million dollars in damages in a discrimination complaint. Now
the Sounds have responded with some pretty strong counter language.
Do you care to comment on this story and what's
happening there in Phoenix?

Speaker 5 (52:16):
Yeah, I mean, I certainly don't shy from commenting on
the story. I think you know, in fairness, I don't
really have much information beyond what's reported as far as
just what's out there, you know, not only on the Internet,
but most notably in court where you know there's a
former employee who is the Sun's program manager of diversity,

(52:36):
equity inclusion and finally complaint with the us e CO
Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Suns clearly feel differently, So
you know this is going to be settled in court.
It we'll see if it's a broader extension with Robert Sarver,
But basically until things get resolved in court, there's really

(53:00):
not much information. A lot of times that we have
because they usually just refrain from common and therefore we're
operating an information vacuum.

Speaker 2 (53:09):
Well, Mark, listen, great stuff as always. Even though we're
sort of in the throes of summer, as it were
in the NBA, there are always plenty of headlines, we
don't necessarily have to just react what's happening on the floor.
I appreciate sort of the journalistic bent this feature has,
and sooner rather than later, will be heavily into another
NBA season and the nd season tournament. And I say

(53:31):
that complimentary, by the way, because I think it was
a big success last year. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (53:35):
I mean it's a big success because usually people don't
care about the regular season after opening weeks, so anything
they can do to improve the excitement for the regular
season is only a good done.

Speaker 2 (53:47):
And I want to congratulate you on buying Wilt Chamberlain's
rookie card for one point seven million dollars. Mark, sounds
like a great acquisition on your part.

Speaker 5 (53:55):
Hey, Hey, I wish, but I'm sure there's someone else
luckier that got it.

Speaker 2 (54:00):
All right, Mark, good stuff as always, my man. We'll
talk to you next Saturday night.

Speaker 5 (54:04):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (54:05):
It's Mark. Medina Medina Magic. We do it every Saturday
night midnight on the Bernie Frattle Show Fox Sports Radio.
Always plenty to talk about. Even though you know we're
we're still probably well Tay not probably, We're about thirty
one days away from actual NBA games. There's stuff to

(54:26):
talk about. Fez and I talked about the look ahead
Sundays games and you know show. I'll have the podcast
up shortly after the show. You can hear our best
bets et Saturday. I'll reiterate them, reiterate them a little
bit later. But a lot of times when we get
to the NFL season, I like to reflect back on
some highlights from week one that allow us food for

(54:48):
thought as we head in a week too. And we
will do that next Bernie Fadday. We are company line
from the lost for the Fox Sports Radio Las Vegas Studios. Here,
keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show
on Fox Sports Radio. All right back on the Bernie
Fattle Show, Fox Sports Radio. We're coming to live from
the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio tirerack dot Com studios

(55:10):
take you after three am Pacific, six am Eastern. A
lot to get to and of course two am Pacific,
five am Eastern brand new editions of what kind of
brand new fool of you? Followed by what my name?
Coming up after the chef's update bottom of the hour.
I'm going to dive into this two a tongue below
a most recent concussion injury. Give you my thoughts. We'll

(55:32):
bring in the crew. There's a ground swell of folks
who believe you should retire. I don't know. I'm going
to make a prediction that he will not retire, and
I'll tell you why. But we'll get the crew in
on that as well. So with Week one in the
NFL books already, it never ceases that there are things.

(55:53):
There are games. There are aspects in games that calls
you to raise an eyebrow, and there were several of
those Week one, not the least of which was how
meh Caleb Williams was and the Bears. But the Bears
managed to win. They did it because they got a
special team's touchdown and a pick six. They were home
against the Penske Titans team Caleb Williams through for ninety

(56:17):
three yards. Now, I'm sorry this is a story because
expectations were very high. When you're the number one overall
draft pick, and you have the kind of high profile
he did coming into the job, you're going to pay
attention to his performance. He was fourteen or twenty nine
for just ninety three yards. That leaves you wanting he
was not good in the preseason either. Now Chicago defense

(56:39):
was able to take the game over. They gave sort
of this incredible picture of you know, Will Levis throwing
one of the most questionable passes in the history of
the NFL that led to a you know, interception return.
So you know, they don't draw pictures in the scorebook
Chicago's one and oh despite a bad outing from your
franchise quarterback. Two ways you can look at that you

(57:01):
don't have your best stuff and you find a way
to win, which is the old Nolan Ryan quote, or
that's a foreshadowing of I haven't bought into the Bears
hype anyway, and I think they're gonna get pole Axton
Houston later on this afternoon. So let's see what's what
A lot of times in the NFL team can look
terrible one week, in the next week they look much different.

(57:23):
And it goes both ways, which leads me to the
second thing. That really caused me to raise an eyebrow.
The Saints looked ridiculously good, and they're forty seven to
ten rout of Carolina. Now you could argue, I say
this tongue in cheek, that the Panthers aren't really even
an NFL team, not yet, and no one expected their
level of execution to be stellar. But no one expected

(57:45):
Derek Carter look like an MVP either, And I'm not
buying that either. I know they pick on Bryce Young,
he look lost. I'm not willing to give up on
this kid yet, not by a long shot. Carolina's new coach,
Dave Kanalis is quite the guy. He spent many years
in Seattle, was receivers coach who I think had a
lot to do with Russell Wilson's success in the mid
twenty fourteen twenty fifteen area. He was also presiding over

(58:08):
Gino Smith and his resurgence. That was Dave Canalis as
a quarterback whisperer. Dave Canalis was most recently in Tampa
Bay certainly helped Baker Mayfield get to a ceiling. Baker
got the bag. Now he's charged with doing the same
for Bryce Young. I'm going to withhold judgment, but meaning
that I believe that he can still resurrect Bryce Young.

(58:30):
Not gonna be tomorrow, not gonna be next week, but
give it time. I want to see what Bryce Young
looks like after twenty five thirty starts. But look, Atlanta,
the flip side of the coin is the Saints, and
I think they'll have their come up. It's against Dallas
on Sunday. The Saints were supposed to be I check
that the Atlanta Falcons were supposed to be the breakout

(58:53):
team in the NFC South. Yet they managed just ten
points against the Steelers and justin fields. That's not a
good first impression. Again, let's let the season play out.
But those things caused me to raise an eyebrow? What
else caused me to raise an eyebrow? Dallas rode Cleveland
like a stickhorse early and often. Now, a lot of

(59:15):
folks expected the Browns to win that game, as Jim
Schwartz defense at home last year gave up the fewest
yards since the legion of Boom team. Now on the road,
Cleveland's defense is much different. The problem is we're finding out.
I don't care what you say. Deshaun Watson's a shot fighter,
you want to prove me wrong, start later today. Start

(59:36):
later today. When Cleveland teased it up again at Tennessee
or wherever they're going. Forgive me, I got it written down,
but you get the point. Whoever Cleveland plays Sunday. The
bottom line is until I see it on the field,
and I don't want to hear any speeches about Deshaun Watson.
He's a shot fighter. Now. The flip side of the coin,

(59:57):
there was obviously the situation with that Prescott who continues
to be mistress September, they look Dallas just looked tremendous
just hours after agreeing to be, you know, the NFL's
highest paid player, Dak Prescott. They completely carved up the
Browns defense, which is the lead at home, and again
you juxtaposed that against Deshaun Watson what he used to be.

(01:00:20):
It's now it's just a guy who again it's I
could come up with a silly, funny, comical metaphor, I'm not.
Let's just say he's bad. They're even considering putting Jameis
Winston in there. Are you kidding me? Jamis Winston through
thirty interceptions the last time he was his starter, six
were on the first drive of the game, six were
pick six and six were in the fourth quarter with

(01:00:40):
the lead. If you're going to Jamis Winston, you got
big problems. Sinc Natty also had a very bad day.
I don't mean to ruffle feathers, but dude, you buying
a chance have the Bengals to beat the Patriots and
your survivor pool. Don't feel like the lone ranger. You
and a million of your best friends were probably in
the same boat. But Jacoby Brissett, give him credit. They

(01:01:03):
played mistake free football. Jared Mayo his messages getting across
Bill Belichick always said more games are lost than one
at this level. So when you don't commit hardly any penalties,
you know, turn the ball over. And I still think
you know the reason Joe Burrow on that offense only
scored ten points and I know the receivers are banged up.
Jamar Chase had food poisoning and something wrong with Joe

(01:01:24):
Burrow's wrist. He can give his speeches that it's not
but that was a bit of a shocker. But let's
also not forget since he started a bat slowly last
year and the year before as well. Finally, Sam Darnald.
I've always liked Sam Darnald. I know him in the minority.
There are a few of us out there. I liked
them at USC. He went into a possible situation in
the Jets. Beyond that, now he's with a guy Kevin O'Connell,

(01:01:46):
with an offense and a good culture. He's a talented quarterback.
He's played for dismal teams. Now I think he's set
up for success. Donald for game one, as our buddy
Arnie Sand used to say, maybe he makes it one
game Hall of Fame engineered a twenty eight to six
round of the Giants. I realize the Giants are bad,
but Donald was dropping dimes all over the field. And

(01:02:07):
if he can play this way with any consistency, and
if Justin Jefferson's can stay healthy, Donald will have a
good year. And oh, by the way, the NFC North
is going to be fun to watch because you know
Detroit's going to be good. Don't know about the Bears,
but Green Baal will be better. They'll get rallied, they'll
get Jordan Love back, and then this man's NFL. You
win nine ten games, you got a shot for the playoffs.

(01:02:29):
Coming up to a tongue of who everybody loves has
now got everybody concerned. We're going to dive into that
with the crew, but first let's go to our guy,
the chef, with the.

Speaker 8 (01:02:37):
Latest, Yeah, Bernie, A full day of college football Week three.
Already of this college football season, everything has concluded around
the country in the talk of the country today Texas
and UTSA. It's not just because the Longhorns rolled the
road Runners fifty six to seven. It's because after Quinn

(01:02:59):
Youwers had to leave the game because of an abdominal injury,
Arch Manning came in and proceeded to do this.

Speaker 9 (01:03:05):
After UTSA nineteen yard line, So Manning tattle pistol, staff
turns hands at the Wisner and no pulls it back.

Speaker 10 (01:03:11):
In Township go part.

Speaker 9 (01:03:13):
Inside the ten, Go back down Texas beyond right board.
Great play fake by arch Manning. His first play goes
for a nineteen yard touchdown.

Speaker 8 (01:03:23):
Craig Way on the Texas Longhorn Sports Network from a
lear field with the call. As Texas does win at
fifty six to seven. But Man I can already hear
NFL fans clamoring for their team to tank in a
couple of years because of how arch Manning looked four
touchdown passes five overall on the day for the Longhorns.
Quarterback Number one Georgia was in a tough battle with Kentucky,

(01:03:46):
a low scoring affair. This one came down to the
final minute and eventually the Bulldogs due do hold on
to win this one thirteen to twelve. Number four Alabama
the tied roll against Wisconsin forty two to ten up
in Madison. Number five Ole miss a forty to six win.
It gets Wake Forest over in Winston Salem. Other college

(01:04:08):
football scores. Number six Missouri gets by number twenty four
Boston College twenty seven to twenty one. Seventh Rake, Tennessee.
They let at halftime sixty five to nothing in route
toy seventy one to nothing win against kent State sixteenth
right to LSU. They trailed for a bit against South Carolina,
but do overcome some self inflicted wounds to win a
thirty six to thirty three. Memphis wins a twenty to

(01:04:30):
twelve at Florida State. Man the Seminoles. How far have
they fallen since last winner when they narrowly missed the
playoff after going undefeated. Now zero and three after their
loss to Memphis. Memphis for their parto was three and
oh Toledo winners at Mississippi State forty one to seventeen.
We got some NFL injury updates. Christian McCaffrey placed on

(01:04:54):
injured reserve. He's been dealing with a calf injury, so
he'll be out at least the next four games. Sames
Eagles wide receiver aj Brown mispractice. He is questionable for Monday.
Jordan Love downgraded to doubtful, although no one really expected
him to be in action on Sunday. Ian Rappaport with
a few updates, Saints are going to be cautious with

(01:05:15):
Marshawn Lattimore. He is questionable with a hip and hamstring issue.
He is pushing to play, but it is, according to Rapport,
a long season and the Saints trying to keep him healthy.
Cold twide receiver Josh Downs is dealing with high ankle springs.
Considered a fifty to fifty shot on whether he does
a play today. Packers wide receiver Jaden Rad He's listen

(01:05:36):
to the questionable with a calf and shin injury. He
is expected to play on Sunday. Lions wide receiver Jamison
Williams questionable an ankle injury, is expected to play against
Tampa Bay and Ravens linebacker Kyle van Noy he dealing
with a fractured orbital bone. He will see how he
feels this morning Sunday morning against the Raiders, but according

(01:05:56):
to Rappaport's tweet, his sources say he's optimistic about being
able to play on Sunday, currently listed as questionable and
newsomb earlier in the day, Jamark Chase has no plans
to negotiate a long term deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Speaker 10 (01:06:11):
He said that he fails.

Speaker 8 (01:06:13):
Chase did at least that the Bengals misled him, so
certainly something to keep an eye on it as we
head into the off season. And Hollywood Brown, placed on
injurre reserve, is not expected to play in the regular season.
That is according to Adam Schefter.

Speaker 2 (01:06:28):
Back to Bernie, Wow, that's a big that's a big
news update there, Chef, Good stuff, Buddy. I had heard
a month ago that Hollywood Brown would be back by
week three. So big development there in Kansas City, big
development at Miami to atagavaloa Thursday night, suffered concussion at
the conclusion of a fourth and four run in the
third quarter, and as he lowered his head attempted to

(01:06:51):
gain a first down, he collided with coincidentally Damar Hamlin,
who was part of an infamous play two years ago.
The Dolphins ruled him out the remainder of the contest.
Here's the takeaway to a crupple to the field and
he went into what they are now calling that fencing response,
which he similarly showed after having that concussion back in

(01:07:13):
twenty twenty two and also on Thursday Night football in
a matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. It's an odd, uncomfortable visual.
Everybody likes Tua and this I think since college is
his fifth concussion. He remained on the turf, he was evaluated.
Teammates from both teams took a knee to This story

(01:07:33):
has lots of layers. He just signed a four year,
two hundred and twelve million dollar extension one hundred and
sixty seven million in guarantees, which he deserved. I believe
he deserved it. He led the league in passing last
year with almost forty seven hundred yards through twenty nine
touchdowns fourteen picks. Got into the playoffs. For the second
year in a row. I think Miami was on the
short list. I'm not saying they could beat Kansas City,

(01:07:56):
but they're in the conversation. There have been legitimate concerns
about Tua since he came out of Alabama and his health.
He said, lots of injuries in his career with his ankle,
in his back and hip and things like that, and
then the concussions. This last year though he bulked up,
he took martial arts, he started wearing a new helmet,
and the entire twenty three season, for the first time

(01:08:16):
in his career, he started every game, didn't have any concussions. Unfortunately,
this newest incident and the quote fencing response, it conjures
up the long running story that's not been really discussed
in over a year. So you're seeing people come out
of the woodwork right and left. They think Tuas should retire.
Let me give you my quick two cents and then

(01:08:38):
I'm going to bring the crew in. I don't think
he's going to retire, not now. I think he'll be
cleared within two to three weeks. He'll start training and
he's gonna want to get back on the field. Now
he'll go back and forth with his family. He may
go back and forth with teammates, you know, close confidence.
But if Tua is cleared, which I believe he will be,

(01:09:01):
and he decides to retire, he could wave goodbye to
that entire one hundred and sixty seven million dollars it
was guaranteed. You could argue maybe he's made enough money
for life, whatever, That's not the point. I don't think
he wants to end it that way. I don't think
he wants to final play for's NFL career to be
a concussion. Knowing Toua, he does not want to let
down his teammates, he does not want to let down

(01:09:21):
the city Miami. He's an honorable man, a likable man,
and a far better quarterback than a lot of people
give him credit for. He doesn't want it to end
this way. The question is, though, at twenty six years old,
with his life ahead of him, what do you do.
It's not an easy decision. My prediction he's not going
to retire and you will see him back on the
field in the twenty twenty four season. Chef, let's start

(01:09:43):
with you. Do you think Tua should retire? Do you
think he will retire?

Speaker 8 (01:09:46):
I think he should, just because what did you say,
five concussions going back to college. I mean, yes, at
a certain point, he's got to consider the ability for
him to live a long, healthy life as opposed to him,
you know, competing at the highest level making the millions
of dollars that's owed to him. I mean, living a
long healthy life to me is paramount and it should

(01:10:09):
take priority over that. So he should retire in my opinion,
But I agree with you, I don't think he will,
especially if he is cleared to play. I mean, uh,
nine figures is hard to uh give up that uh
that he's owed over the next few years, So that's
gonna be very difficult for him to walk away from. Plus,
he's a very fierce competitor, so I don't see him

(01:10:31):
willingly walk away. However, if he were to suffer a
similar injury again, I think it's going to be taken
out of his hands and uh, this will be the
last time he gets medically cleared to play, in my opinion.

Speaker 2 (01:10:42):
If that, Jeff, well, and you saw the play, right,
he Okay, I don't know why he didn't slide, he
was he had a mental laughs. I believe here's why
and I'm not saying you're wrong. You may be right
because he's are independent trials with different people. Troy Aikman
had ten concussions in his career. The final one, coincidentally

(01:11:04):
was done by our teammate LeVar Arrington that ended his career.
Brett farre claims he suffered at least a thousand concussions
in his career. Terry Bradshaw said he had six in
his career. It's individual symptoms such you may be right.
I don't know if it will be taken out of
his hands, but I take it at your point you

(01:11:27):
think he should retire. Now accept your opinion, Shaye, what
are your thoughts?

Speaker 11 (01:11:32):
I mean, yeah, i'd have to goo Kevin to where
like you don't really want to see someone on the
field that necessarily is just doing it and it's not
great for their health. But I mean, of course we
love seeing two it play football. I'm not saying that,
but again, it's just when it comes down to it,
we'd rather see someone healthy, not really killing themselves over
again football. But I do think he will get cleared

(01:11:54):
this time, and I do think he'll get cleared again
even if he was to get another concussion, maybe not
this year, but let's say that. It's like if he
was to get another concussion next year, he would still
get cleared, maybe not two in the same year. But again,
most see NFL is very different. But yeah, no, I
do definitely think he will get cleared and we'll see himplay.

Speaker 2 (01:12:15):
Would it be your prediction that he does not retire
this year?

Speaker 11 (01:12:19):
Yeah, he's not retiring this year. He would have retired
onless he's forced to.

Speaker 2 (01:12:24):
All right, fair enough, I'm an agree with Mark Ramsey.

Speaker 12 (01:12:28):
Since it's what I think. I think he should consider
retiring because as a quarterback, from what I can tell,
and I didn't see the player we're talking about, but
as a quarterback, he hasn't been that effective. He's just
he's an average quarterback.

Speaker 2 (01:12:46):
And the league in passing last year, right, he did
almost forty seven?

Speaker 12 (01:12:50):
Yes, but what success has he had other than passing
the ball?

Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
He's gotten the team. He's gotten the team of the
playoffs two years.

Speaker 12 (01:12:56):
And then what happened at the playoffs? They lost, So
he hasn't.

Speaker 2 (01:12:59):
Taken I thought they won the Super Bowl? Didn't they?

Speaker 12 (01:13:02):
Has he won a Super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
I think he's won two of them.

Speaker 12 (01:13:05):
Hasn't he Are we talking about the same person.

Speaker 2 (01:13:08):
I'm just playing with you, but I don't yeh, I
accept you. See, I appreciate your opinion. What you're essentially saying.

Speaker 10 (01:13:14):
He hasn't been.

Speaker 12 (01:13:16):
He hasn't been effective. He's been getting more concussions than
being effective. I think he should consider retiring because you
only get one life. And what is he going to
do when he retires? Will he be able to walk?
Will he be able to think? He has to find
something in himself to decide what he's going to do
now while he can still think and decide.

Speaker 2 (01:13:38):
Fair enough, And that's that's the narrative Mark that I
think a lot of people who care about Tua is
mirroring exactly what you just said. He now has two kids.
And to your point, yes, he hasn't won anything. I
hate to split here because I'm a too fan and
I think he has done well. I get it. Winning
a Super Bowl is damn near impossible. Only one team
can do it every year. They can't team to get

(01:13:59):
over a home. Uh. He does have detractors, But I
do think Mark, he has been effective. But to your point,
what you're essentially saying, and I don't want to put
words in their mouth is.

Speaker 12 (01:14:10):
But that hit he took a couple of years ago
when he was on the ground shaking, You know, that
was that was pretty scary. It was absolutely for him
to even consider even that. He didn't take a year
off and you know, it's just one more concussion. And
Troy talk about how his brain works, and I mean
he can still talk in different because different person, different situation.

(01:14:33):
But if these things keep coming on, what will it
lead to?

Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
Let me, let me make a quality of difference. Troy
continually got blasted in the pocket. I love Troy Ackman,
but he was He had the mobility of an upright
vacuum cleaner. He was not a mobile quarterback. Tua Is.
He took jiu jitsu lessons, learn how to fall bulked up,
made it the entire year last year mark without a
single concussion because of the the way he learned how

(01:15:00):
to slide and avoid contact. I believe he had a
mental ass on that play. What if he were to
revert to his twenty twenty three form and be able
to avoid contact the way that Patrick Mahomes does, the
way that some of the great quarterbacks over the years
have He.

Speaker 12 (01:15:14):
Plays football he cannot avoid contact. He plays avoid.

Speaker 2 (01:15:21):
Twenty how did he do it in twenty twenty three?

Speaker 12 (01:15:23):
Then if he wants to be a football player, that's
going to be contact, he really has to consent.

Speaker 2 (01:15:28):
No, I appreciate it. I appreciate the all right, I
appreciate the furnace of your opinion. So let me ask
you this. Then you're on record that he should retire.
But do you think he will? Yes or no?

Speaker 12 (01:15:42):
I think he wants to be a football player and continue.
And like most players, I'm going to go to like
get taken off the field in the stretcher.

Speaker 2 (01:15:50):
Fair enough, good stuff, guys. Strong opinions coming up. Tom
Brady's broadcasting the abut draw some negative reviews, not necessarily
for me, But what do you hear these? I'm Bernie
FRADDICKI Kemy Lyn from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio tirect
dot com studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to the
Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio. We're back of
the Bernie Fratile Show, Fox Sports Radio Company line from
the tirect dot com studios here in Las Vegas. Just

(01:16:13):
to put a capper on the tours situation. And my
thought that everything is highly individual. Have a tweet from
a gentleman van Halen twelve eleven. He said, isn't that
what happened to Junior? SAYU too many brain injuries. Here's
what's interesting, because this is my response to mister van Halen. Ironically,

(01:16:34):
something repeated concussive head trauma and brain disease led to
Sales devolving behavioral changes in ultimate suicide. During Junior Sale's
twenty year NFL career, he was never diagnosed with a concussion,
nor did he miss a single game because of the
concussion like syndromes. Just throwing that out there as a
talking piece. This is an ongoing thing. We are going

(01:16:56):
to follow the story because it's going to play out
over the next three weeks. And I he was shake,
He's going to be cleared. Mark brought up some great points.
Chef all you guys, you know he's gonna probably want
to keep playing. Maybe he shouldn't. We'll go from there.
Tom Brady's back for round two. He took a year
off from football three hundred and seventy five million two
over for Greg Olsen. I'm not one of the people

(01:17:18):
who was critical of Tom Brady. I thought he was
prepared I thought he was a little uncomfortable. Why wouldn't
he be. He's brand new at this. I thought he
was a little robotic. But my god, some of the
tweets that Brady got on social media. Sheesh. Somebody named
doctor Jakes, I don't want to overreact to week one,
but Tom Brady is the worst announcer in the NFL.
Good good thing. You didn't want to overreact to week one.

(01:17:40):
Somebody named Jake. Tom Brady has to look this uncomfortable
since facing the Giants in the Super Bowl. Somebody named
Luke tom Brady can't seem to form any sentences that
have any sort of normal cadence to them. How about Molly,
She checks in, I've heard enough of Tom Brady. Justice
for Greg Olsen. Ah, you see, now the true culprit
comes out. I think a lot of people are upset

(01:18:01):
that Brady went to the top of the class and
edged out Greg Olsen, who everybody loved. And then somebody
named Jonathan said maybe someone should have listened to Tom Brady
actually say words before dropping three hundred million on him.
That said, I don't think it was doom and gloom
for Tom Brady. Some people thought Brady did a good
job in the booth, and he got some good reviews

(01:18:23):
from some of his colleagues, including James Slater. I like
Tom Brady in the booth. He's smart. He's not pressing
and screaming with folks. So I mean he lets Kevin
talk and steps in easy, intelligent call just by two cents.
I think that's a fair objective opinion. Was he entertaining
not necessarily? Was he insightful? I thought so at times.

(01:18:45):
His timing isn't there yet, his simpatica with his partner

there were plenty of both. I'm Bernie Fratto, comedy line

The winners the lines, which I'm going to get to.
The Texans, which I'm going to get to. I want
to talk about the new kickoff. It hasn't gotten over

(01:19:49):
the hump yet. The return rate is still too low,
but there was actually some excitement. Meanwhile, losers the Bengals.
I don't care what anybody says. I'm a little worried
about them. I'll explain why I thought they'd be better.
The New York Giants have a big decision to make,
and Kirk Cousins in Atlanta didn't exactly excite me a
Week one. I'm going to get to the details of
all that. But what I want to talk about next

(01:20:11):
is too important to skip over. Every Friday night on
my show, I do a thing called the Midnight Hour.
Give my former producer Eathon Miller credit. It's his idea.
We take calls on subject matter, and you saw that
last Sunday, Tyreek Hill had the situation where he was

(01:20:31):
pullover and he was going sixty in a forty. But
there was more to it than that. It escalated and
I think there was culpability on both sides. It went
further than probably should have. We took twenty five calls
on that last night. That broke the midnight hour record
of twenty four when people gave their thoughts when oj

(01:20:53):
Simpson passed, and we typically averaged sixteen to eighteen to
twenty callers per show. Anyway, we had calls from all
walks of life, just outstanding everybody. If we had police
officers call in give a perspective, just outstanding. But because
of the time, councher wasn't able to get the crew.
And I want to do that, And so Chef, let's
start with you. You were you witnessed the proceedings last night

(01:21:17):
on my show. Do you have any observations on the
Tyreek Hill situation, what transpired last Sunday and is there
anything you wanted to add that we might have missed.

Speaker 10 (01:21:28):
Yeah. I seem to think that.

Speaker 8 (01:21:31):
Tyrek Hill, while he certainly could have handled this situation better,
that cop was out of line and how he reacted.
When you were given the responsibility of wearing that badge
and been given a deadly weapon to enforce the law,
the onus is on you to be able to de
escalate the situation and to handle it in a professional manner. Now,

(01:21:52):
Tyrek Hill again could have made things better on himself
had he behave better during that traffic stop. But he,
as far as I'm concerned, he didn't seem like he
was a threat to do anything. So it just seemed
like a cop was on a power trip because Tyreek
Hill rolled up his window when he didn't want him to,
and it was about his ego as opposed to ensuring

(01:22:14):
safety of the cops, the players that you know, whoever
was involved with that traffic stop and all that. So
I do think the cop was in the wrong, even
if Tyreek Hill could have handled things better. I just
don't think there was an excuse for what happened there.

Speaker 2 (01:22:28):
Yeah, I think that sums it up, and I think
that somewhat characterizes the general fonts last night. No one
really gave Tyreek a hall pass. No one gave the
police officer a hall pass either. I had three questions
before we began the discussion The first one was why
did he roll his window up? Just tell me the
second reason. The second question is it felt like the

(01:22:49):
police officer when he approached the vehicle came on like
thirty yards of garlic. He had a little bit of
an attitude and you could hear it in his tone
of voice. And then the third question I had after
all this, why did Tyree end up on the ground?
Is that protocol? Is that policy? And one police officer
said yes, and give you the reason why. Those were
just questions I had. Mark Ramsey, you also were presiding

(01:23:14):
over the ceremonies last night. What are your thoughts, what
are your observations on that whole ord deal? And do
you have anything to add?

Speaker 12 (01:23:22):
Basic disclaimer, I only heard about the video. I've only
seen tiny clips. I didn't watch the whole thing, But
just going off of the basic idea of a traffic stop.
If from my view, ty if he would have cooperated,

(01:23:42):
just do what the officer SAIDs because in my view
of things, if there's anything other than what happened, it
goes out of bounds. You have a courtroom to deal
with those things. Just cooperate and do what you're supposed
to do. If you're in a traffic stuff. Now, that's
just my view of being told what to do when

(01:24:04):
I was a kid about being in a car. And
if if an offer stops you. I've learned over the
years if you say certain words to cops, to an officer,
that sparks them to think other things. So just your
basic cooperation, yes or no, Just do as they say
and the incident will go away. And if something else

(01:24:24):
of that, you know, comes about, my dad used to say, well,
there's a courtroom to deal with that.

Speaker 2 (01:24:31):
All right, And in a sense I touched upon that
in my opening commentary. Before we get to share here,
here's what I said about that last night. Whenever. First
of all, my policy has always been this, and I
ran it by an officer last night and he said,
if you do that, you're sending us a signal you're
going to cooperate. You're not going to be a problem
for So I can only tell you what I do. Okay,

(01:24:52):
I'm going to be polite, I'm going to be cooperative.
I'm going to be anonymous. I'm not going to say
anything that would trigger something the officer might write his book,
even if he's yelling at me or he's mad or
I'm mad, or you know, you know, I don't know
a human being that doesn't have a temper. But here's
the problem. When you're approach by an officer of the

(01:25:12):
law and he issues a command, if you ignore that command,
you have raised a tremendous red flag. If you issuse
a second command and you ignore that command, now you
are inviting to fight. And why would you do that?
My policy again, polite, cooperative, anonymous, have your license, registration

(01:25:33):
and insurance. Show them your hands as they approach a vehicle.
And this is what I was told by a police
officer to do. Roll down all four windows as they
approach the car. Say here I am, I'm an open book.
And every time I've done that, guess what the police
officer does. The first time they look in the backseat
to see if I got anything my ride and dirty.
Hell no I'm not, and I got nothing to hide.

(01:25:53):
So I'm going to roll down all four windows. So
when you consider that, things can be interpreted. We had
one police officer called the end saying he thought that
Tyree Hill was cooperative once he given him his license,
and once he had answered the question, he rolled up
his window and he said at that point he believes
it was no longer affect to the cop. The cop

(01:26:15):
had his information right, the ticket let him be on
his way. Cop didn't see it that way. One other
officer said, you roll up your window. That's defiance. Again.
We were all over the map. Twenty five calls unbelievable.
You can hear the podcast. People were so insightful. We
covered so much ground. So shit, you were not with
us last night, but you've usually got a lot of
very good opinions on things. You carried a weigh in

(01:26:36):
on this.

Speaker 11 (01:26:37):
I mean, yeah, So of course, I also think that
Tyree could have handled the situation a little bit better.
But in the end, the biggest thing it wasn't really
the part where the window rolling up or down. It
was when he was outside of the car and he
was telling one of the officers, hey, I just got surgery.
I just got surgery, and then one of the officers
comes in and like grabs him and forces him down.

(01:27:00):
I thought that was a little bit crazy. And then
that situation was definitely just unwarrantted, just didn't need to
happen at all. So, I mean, of course, this country
has a lot of issues with its police, but I
mean there's a lot of good things that come out
of them. I just thought in that situation, it could
have definitely been handled differently on both sides.

Speaker 2 (01:27:17):
Fair enough, fair enough, And I think that's an objective,
you know, honest appraisal of this. You're dealing with a
couple of guys, maybe big egos, heat of the moment,
Tyreek Hills on his way to work once to get
to work, the officer twenty seven years on the forest,
and someone tweeted at us last night that apparently had
some issues. But look, I've said this a thousand times

(01:27:40):
when I do the midnight hour on Friday night. We're
not going to solve the world's problems. We're not trying
to do that. We're trying to engage in meaningful dialogue
so that they're going to be perhaps enlightenment and people
can see a viewpoints that they might not you know,
necessarily be exposed to, as it were. And look, we
try to have fun here all right in the shopping
mall of Life Sports of the damn Toy Department. But

(01:28:03):
it was an amazing discussion last night, and I think
what the crew just said there really sort of mirrors
the general consensus of what happened last night and how
things can There can be spontaneous combustion if two decide

(01:29:09):
away from the dance sensation sweeping the nation. That, of course,
would be fresh editions of what kind of brand new
fool you followed by what my name? Right? The first
NFL Sunday season. Try that again in English. The first
NFL Sunday of the twenty fourth season is in the books,

(01:29:30):
and it's what fans have been waiting for, all right.
You had stunning upsets. The Bengals, who come in as
double digit favorites, killed a bunch of people's you know,
survivor pool picks. They fall to New England. You got
a pair of massive comfort behind victories. The dimy Dolphins
top the Jags, and the Bears beat the Tennessee Titans

(01:29:51):
with defenses shutting out their opponents. And I know the
Dolphins have already played a second game, but I like
to take this as a week two week thing. In
the National Football League. Often takeaways that you observe and
then you wonder later in the year do those first
impressions come to fruition. Let me start with the toughness
and the grid of the Detroit Lions. They were clearly

(01:30:12):
a winner in Week one. It was far from their
best performance. There's no question the Lions offense stalled many
times in the second half three and outs in their
first five drives after halftime, threw a pick. Jared Goff
threw a pick during that span. Still, Detroit found a
way to outlast, out, tough, outgrit the Rams. They showed
their medal and the Lions, at least after Week one,

(01:30:36):
approving after falling to the Niners in the NFC Championship Game,
they are serving notice they're going to be a contender
in the NFC. This was their first game since the
Lions blew that seventeen point halftime lead to the Niners
last January in the NFC Championship game. Wasn't a clean game.
A monolat Saint Brown caughtious. I think three balls for

(01:30:57):
thirteen yards. Detroit was only two to four red zone conversions.
And what my biggest takeaway is in overtime, the Lions
just said, we're gonna line up and run the ball
down your throat and there's not a damn thing you're
gonna be able to do about it. They pounded the
ball seven times, sixty rushing yards a decisive game winning drive.

(01:31:18):
The Rams couldn't do anything. The offensive line dominated the
Rams defensive line. The Lions sent a message that their
identity of toughness has not only not changed, it's more
so than last year. Credit to Houston Texans for their
aggressive moves. They know they had a solid young corps.
They decided to make some moves to get better. They

(01:31:38):
take an early edge in the AFC South. They grid
out a road twenty nine to twenty seven victory over
the Indianapolis Colts. And as good as Houston was last year,
and they were, there's actually a pair of trade acquisitions
who made an instant impact. Joe Mixon. He was the
focus of the offense thirty carries for a buck fifty

(01:32:02):
nine and a touchdown. Meanwhile, receiver Stefan Diggs, who the
team acquired in April trade with Buffalo, caught six passes. Yes,
they were only for thirty three yards, but two of
those receptions were touchdowns. One came late in the fourth
quarter to give Houston a nine point league. The kickoff,
I'm still a little mad about. It's neither a winner

(01:32:23):
nor a loser. So we're gonna wait and see given
the sample size, and still teams are mostly saying, what
the hell, We're just gonna boot kickoffs through the end zone.
But the few times the kickoffs were returned. These new
tweaked rules, well, they did infuse some excitement into the
kickoff play, which I think is a very important part
of the NFL. Now through Sunday Night's game, there were

(01:32:47):
one hundred and one touchbacks on one hundred and fifty
seven kickoffs. There were fifty four returns about thirty five percent.
Two went out of bounds, but those returns went for
an average with almost twenty eight yards that significantly from
last season's average about twenty two yards per kick, and
when the kick was actually returned, the play did yield
some excitement. In fact, the Cardinals Bills game in particular

(01:33:09):
self some huge returns, including the first ever kickoff return
for a touchdown under this new rule. So the sample
size is too low to grade. The sample size is
too low to really draw an opinion. It's not what
I hoped it would be, but it's a slight improvement
over last year. So let's see how it continues to
play out. Remember it's a one year experiment. There's no

(01:33:30):
guarantee the NFL brings it back next year. What I
think the had to do is just move the dim
kickoff back to the twenty five yard line, the kicker
boots it, you got returns every play. That's the way
it goes. The special teams are important. Guys make their
bones and special teams in the NFL. They make rosters
in the NFL. And I will tell you, if you

(01:33:50):
have great special teams play, you're always going to be
a threat to the other side losers. I gave you
who I thought the winners were, the Lions, their toughness,
the Houston Texans. I'll give a very slight edge to
the kickoff. Sort of is Cincinnati possibly do for a regression? Now?
I don't. Let's put it this way. Don't let the

(01:34:11):
absence of T Higgins fool you. This was an inexcusable
loss against the Patriots team that is in the midst
of a complete total cultural rebuild after twenty five years
under Bill Belichick and the Bengals. Yes, we know they're
notoriously slow starters just three years removed from the Super
Bowl appearance, but there were a lot of problematic indicators

(01:34:34):
that might indicate an offensive regression. I have to see
more about Joel Burrow's wrist. He kept toying with it.
He looked uncomfortable being handed the water bottle. These are
things that you see with your eyes. They're not imagined.
If Burrow does have issues with his wrist that leads
to difficulty gripping the ball, which might explain they didn't

(01:34:56):
really attempt many passes more than ten yards. Burrow finished
with just one hundred and sixty four yards passing, and
other than Jamar Chase in his sixty two yards, the
rest of the Bengal receivers only had thirty seven yards
on five catches. Worse yet, the Bengals are also missing
Joe Mixon, who I just talked about, since he only
ran for seventy yards. If you can't run the ball,

(01:35:19):
they're going to darreate a pass. Passing lanes are not
gonna be there. The Bengals, by the way, only lost
two fumbles all last season. By the middle of the
third quarter last Sunday, the Bengals had lost two fumbles.
Their offense, who didn't score a single point before halftime,
looked very iffy, not even iffy. They look bad. Let's

(01:35:39):
just call it what it is. But it's a long season.
Let's see what Cincinnati does in Kansas City on Sunday.
Would I be concerned about their Joe Burrow and his wrist.
You're damn right, I would be. You're damn right, I
would be. I've kind of been a defender of Daniel
Jones over the years, but now that we're in year six,
you have to ask yourself. Has a Daniel Jones experiment

(01:36:02):
run its course? I realize he's not exactly been blessed
with an embarrassment of riches around him. He did have
Saquon Barkley. But the real question now is if you
turn the clock back to March twenty twenty three, when
the Giants decided to reward Daniel Jones with a four
year extension, all of a sudden, that's looking worse by

(01:36:23):
the day. The reason is is because not only I
mean quarterbacks make mistakes, human beings make mistakes. Where you
get into trouble is when you keep duplicating the same
mistakes you've always made. Daniel Jones could give a masterclass
about duplicating mistakes he's made throughout his career. He had
a two interception game, losing twenty eight to six to Minnesota.

(01:36:47):
He still holds the ball too long much of the
time he climbs the pocket, which leads to sacks. And
pressures is his pocket presence leaves a lot to be desired.
He takes sacks when dump offs are throwing the ball
away would be much better options. He commenced turnovers seemingly
at the worst times. And here's the real bad news.

(01:37:09):
Daniel Jones is counting forty eight million dollars against the
twenty twenty four cap, and the team will still be
on the hook for twenty two million in dead cap
if they cut him in the offseason. The problem is
the Giants genuinely may have to cut their losses if
the season continues the way they are. Unfortunately, the Browns, well,
they don't have that luxury Cleveland apparently. Although the report's

(01:37:32):
coming out about Deshaun Watson's latest allegations, Cleveland looks for
now they're stuck with Watson after their thirty three to
seventeen loss against the Dallas Cowboys because the Browns gave
him a fully guaranteed contract in March twenty twenty two,
even as he faced twenty four allegations of sexual assault
and misconduct. There's very little of his team could do

(01:37:54):
but endure this. Now. We're gonna get into that a
little bit later, because there have been reports that have
come out that may I am not in any way
going to adjudicate this in mood. Court may provide an
opening for a termination clause in the contract. I don't
know if that's where Cleveland's trying to go. I don't
know what merit it would have in court, but it's

(01:38:14):
also part of the discussion. It's also unlikely team's going
to trade for a player Toshaun Watson who can't operate
an NFL offense with any consistency. Watson's got and he's
got that personal backage. I'm sorry you cut him in
the off season. That's going to trigger This is a number.
When I first saw this, it goes that right, Well,
it turns out it's right. If the Browns just said,

(01:38:38):
hell with it, we got to cut you, We just
can't do this anymore, it would trigger an astronomical, absurd, wacky,
ridiculous one hundred and seventy three million dollars dead cap hit.
Other than that, how was your day? Now? I get it.
Not all of Cleveland's issues are Deshaun Watson's fault, but
their offense last season was very uneven when he was there.

(01:39:00):
Had Joe Flacco had not come off as Barker Lounger,
and he unlocked the downfield passing game and the Browns
offense for what it was worth. When Watson was sidelined
with a shoulder injury, and unlike Jones Daniel Jones, Watson
actually does have some talent around him. In fact, he's
got a lot of talent around him with Amari Cooper
and Jerry Judy and David a Joker at the tight end.

(01:39:21):
So the optics are terrible there. Finally, I don't know
what it is with Kirk Cousins. I've never really been
a Kirk Cousins guy. He does put up numbers their
Yogi bearstats to me because he you know, Mark Bramsey
brought up a great point earlier. Okay, let's look at
the hard reality. What is too really done in this league? Well, okay,

(01:39:42):
I you know, I can split hairs when he good
playoffs the league in passing, but he hasn't gotten into
the promised land, and we don't know if he ever will. Well, Kurt,
I am fairly secure in the knowledge Kirk Cousins is
never going to win a damn Super Bowl. The Pittsburgh
Steelers didn't even score a touch down on Sunday and
they still beat the Falcons eighteen to ten. How does

(01:40:03):
that happen when you break the bank and give Kirk
Cousins that kind of money. Atlanta's offense, in its first
game with Kirk Cousins a quarterback, was completely overwhelmed and
in effective by Mike Thomins defense. Cousins a whopping one
hundred and fifty five passing yards, one touch but two interceptions.
Cousins completely telegraphed the second interception. With two forty seven

(01:40:25):
left the game. Atlanta was in Steelers territory down five.
That's where you make your bones as a quarterback. You
do it on third down, third downs, the money down.
They don't pay it a punt. You do it in
the red zone, and you as sure as hell'll do
it in the fourth quarter. Cousins did neither. Plus Cousins
was under duress the entire game. TJ. Watt was all

(01:40:46):
over him like a hobo on a ham sandwich. Atlanta
lost a turnover battle by a margin to three. And
if you do that in the National Football League, you
have an eight point six percent chance and win in
the game. The Falcons didn't win the game they managed
ten points. Here's the bad news. Guy was bad news.
Guess who's coming up? The Philadelphia Eagles Monday night? And

(01:41:06):
then oh yeah, the Kansas City Chiefs. Kirk Cousins, you
better get healthy quick. You better figure out something. I mean,
maybe we now know why they drafted Michael Pennix, which
I thought was a stupid pick in the front. When
you have a first round draft choice, you went that
guy to be a pro bowler starting season one to one,
first starting out of the gate season one, and for

(01:41:28):
your next five to seven years. They draft a guy
who may end up being a project for all of them,
or he may be a star, but he's toiling on
the bench. So that's all the more reason that Kirk
Cousins has to perform. Otherwise the Falcons might have been
a loser Week one, They might be a loser for
the remainder of the season. Coming up, we dive a
little bit into the Shawn Watson developments. Does Cleveland have

(01:41:51):
an opening the latest lawsuit cool aloud the Browns to
terminate Watson's guarantee contract, all speculatively at this point, but
as part of the echo chamber. But first we go
to our guy, the chef with the latest chef. Another
baffle performance.

Speaker 8 (01:42:08):
My man, as I was preparing to just give that belt,
my pipes out for all the listeners out there, and
it's what I look forward to every week.

Speaker 10 (01:42:17):
Bernie's yeah, yes, yes, so.

Speaker 8 (01:42:21):
Of course everyone else looking forward to college football every Saturday.
But we had a big game in at Austin. Actually
it was a big performance in Austin by arch Manning
Quinn Yours. He looked like the Heisman favorite for the
early part of the game, but suffered an abdominal injury,
did not return, and arch Manning would proceed to come

(01:42:45):
in throw four touchdown passes. He had five total touchdowns
on the afternoon as Longhorns do win at fifty six
to seven. It was a tight contest though in Lexington
Top Ring, Georgia and at Kentucky and the Bulldogs. They
escape narrowly winning this one thirteen to twelve. Number four
Alabama an easy time of it. At Wisconsin, the Tide

(01:43:07):
roll forty two to ten. Number five Ole miss a
thumping of wake Forest forty to six. It was a
matchup of ranked teams Missouri and Boston College, with the
Tigers getting by the Eagles twenty seven to twenty one.
Number seven Tennessee blows out Kent State seventy one two
and nothing was sixty five nothing at halftime, and it

(01:43:28):
just feels so weird saying the Civil War. In week
three of the college football season, Number nine Oregon and
Oregon State, the Ducks all over the Beavers forty nine
to fourteen. Elsewhere in at college football, Memphis handing Florida
State their third straight loss to open the season, and

(01:43:48):
the Tigers, for their part, are also three to zero.
Twenty eight to twelve is the final score. Over in Tallahassee.
Toledo wins at Mississippi State forty one to seventeen. We
got NFL injury updates, and a lot of them. Christian
McCaffrey being placed on injured reserve. He's got a sore
calf in achilles tendon nights, so he'll be out at

(01:44:10):
least the next four games. Packers quarterback Jordan Love downgraded
to doubtful for Sunday, but of course not expected to
be in after suffer that injury in the opening game.
Eagles wide receiver aj Brown mispractice. He is questionable for Monday.
He is dealing with a ham string issue, and Ian

(01:44:30):
Rappaport with his usual barrage of updates overnight as he's
saying the Saints are going to be cautious with Marshawn Latimore.
He is questionable with hip and hamstring issues. He is
pushing to play, but the team also looking to keep
him healthy for the long season. Colts wide receiver Josh
Downs is considered fifty to fifty on whether he plays

(01:44:51):
today as he's dealing with a high ankle spring. He
did practice fully on Friday, but the team does want
to be cautious to make sure he has zero issues
before he takes the field. Packard's wide receiver Jaden Red
listed as questionable with the kaffin shin injury. He is
expected to play Sunday. Lines wide receiver Jamison Williams is
questionable with an ankle injury. He is expected to be

(01:45:13):
on the field against the Bucks. Ravens linebacker Kyle van
Noy dealing with a fractured orbital bone. He's gonna see
how he feels Sunday morning against the Raiders, but he
is optimistic about being able to play and Marquise Hollywood Brown,
he was placed on injured reserve because of his shoulder injury.

(01:45:33):
The Chiefs are hoping to get him back at some point,
but now, according to Adam Schefter, he's not expected to
play at all in the regular season and a non
injury note. Jamar Chase has no plans to negotiate a
long term deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. He feels that
the team misled him.

Speaker 2 (01:45:52):
Back to you, Ernie, All right, chef, good stuff tonight.
My man Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk has obtained
a copy of Deshaun Watson contract. Me have found a
key provision that give the Browns an avenue. We're gonna
talk about that coming up. Yes, Deshaun Watson back of
the news for all the wrong reasons. I'm Bernie Frowder.

(01:46:12):
We're coming to your line from the Las Vegas Fox

my name? But we got some Doozies tonight. By the way,

(01:46:32):
football fans, be sure to tune into Fox Sports Radio
every Sunday morning, beginning at ten am Eastern seven am
Pacific before Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Bet MGM, Brian
Not Jeff Schwartz, my buddy professional better Bill Krackenberger. He'll
have you covered three hours before kickoff every Sunday morning.

(01:46:53):
Listen to Countdown to Kickoff presented by BETTAMGM right here
on Fox Sports Radio in the iHeart Radio app. Sean
Watson is back in the news again, but for all
the wrong reasons. Not just the fact that he has
a new lawsuit filely gives them. I'll set that aside.
You can think what you will about that. But the

(01:47:16):
Cleveland Browns, who are still in the hook for a
ton of money and they're getting nothing out of this
deal except grief. There is a question could there be
a silver lining for Cleveland That may And again we
are not going to adjudicate this here in Mood Court.
We're just going to talk about this latest development and

(01:47:36):
see where it goes. But it may. It may allow
the Browns to avoid the remainder of Deshaun Watson's contract Now,
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk obtained a copy of
Watson's contract and he found a key provision that might
give the Browns an option to void the rest of

(01:47:56):
the guarantees on Deshaun Watson's contract. It's a paragraph. Here's
what the paragraph reads. Quote player hereby represents and warrants
except as otherwise as close to the club, and writing
that as of the date hereof that one, the player

(01:48:16):
has not been charged with, indicted, for, convicted of, or
pled nolo contendery to any felony and or misdemeanor involving
fraud or moral turpitude. And two, the player has not
engaged in contact which could subject him to a charge, indictment,
or conviction of any such offense. And three, no circumstances

(01:48:40):
exist that would prevent the player from continuing availability to
the club for the duration of the contract. So this
is a situation to monitor as the season moves forward,
because the implication here is that perhaps there is a
case on the docket that may have not been disclosed

(01:49:06):
to the Browns, may have not been disclosed to the
Browns at the time that Deshaun Watson got this contract,
because you see last Monday, a new lawsuit was filed
against Deshaun Watson and for all the Cleveland faithful who
have concluded that Deshaun Watson He's not going to take

(01:49:26):
you to the Promised Land. The question becomes whether the
new allegations could allow the Browns to get out of
the balance of the five year, fully guaranteed deal. Is
it a yes, Is it a no, It's a maybe.
You don't know. There's a fairly long answer. But again,
I want you to. I want to. It was sounded
like a bit of a world word salad, but it's

(01:49:48):
a key provision in paragraph forty two of DeShawn Watson's contract. Now,
I want you to hear this one more time because
it's going to raise a big question. Here's the full
language paragraph for he Two. Listen closely. The player hereby
represents in warrants, except as otherwise disclosed to the club

(01:50:09):
in writing as of the date hereof that One, the
player has not been charged with, indicted, for, convicted of,
or pled nola contender to any felony and or misdemeanor
involving fraud or moral turpitude. Two. The player has not
engaged in conduct which could subject him to a charge,
indictment or conviction of any such offense. And three, no

(01:50:32):
circumstances exist that would prevent players continuing availability for the
club for the duration of the contract. So here's the question.
Did this Shawn Watson disclose this specific potential claim, this
lawsuit that was filed last Monday to the Browns in

(01:50:53):
writing before he signed the contract? That's the key question.
Did this Shawn Watson disclose this most recent potential item,
in which a lawsuit I believe was filed on Monday
to the Cleveland Browns in writing before he signed the contract?
That's the key question. If Deshaun Watson did well, the

(01:51:14):
lawsuit can't activate paragraph forty two. But if Deshaun Watson
didn't in writing, things can get very complicated. See because,
based on the default language connected to the basic guarantees
that Deshaun Watson was afforded in this contract, Watson doesn't

(01:51:35):
necessarily have to be suspended for the payments to be voided. Instead,
if he violates any material term of the contract included
but not limited to paragraph forty two that can be
construed as breach, Watson quote could have defaulted and future
guarantees can be can be voided. But here's the most

(01:51:58):
important language from paragraph forty two is Mike Floio succinctly,
you know, characterizes this in legales as he's a lawyer. Quote.
No circumstances exist that would prevent players continuing availability to
the club for duration of the contract. This language, that
language alone suggests that Watson's availability has been interrupted by

(01:52:22):
circumstances in the lawsuit. In other words, he needs to
be suspended for the alleged conduct. Now could he be
suspended under the personal conduct policy? The first question in
this regard is whether the NFL even knew about these allegations.
Did they As a practical matter, this is really about
twenty twenty five. In twenty twenty six, you see, Deshaun

(01:52:46):
Watson is still due to receive ninety two million dollars
that's fully guaranteed after the currencies were in. If Deshaun
Watson were to be suspended before the twenty twenty five
season begins, the Browns could declare a default, avoid the
guarantees and move on from Watson. They'd fight about it
in the courts. So, to summarize, did Watson disclose this

(01:53:10):
to the Browns? If he did in writing, the answer
is yes, the issue is over. If Deshaun Watson didn't
and he ends up being suspended for it, the Browns
could indeed escape the final two years of the five
year deal. Now true to form, and it's been about
a week currently, the NFL has no comment about to

(01:53:33):
do Deshaun Watson lawsuit. This new lawsuit, again is under
the guise of sexual assault and battery. The allegations are
a little stronger than most of the claims made against
Watson in the past, and the league has previously suspended
to Shawn Watson for eleven games for violating the Personal
Conduct Policy. So does this new lawsuit put him in
risk for further action? Well, the NFL is not talking.

(01:53:57):
They've declined comment on the situation. Separately, I don't think
I responded to requests for comment. So you're gonna have
to watch this and follow this. I believe the attorney,
Tony Busby, chef you online with us, Bud, Yeah, I'm here.
The attorney's name is Tony Busby. Right, you have you

(01:54:19):
followed this story if chef.

Speaker 8 (01:54:20):
Usually a little bit I have. I haven't delve too
deep into it yet, but I do. I am familiar
with Tony Busby and how he's represented. Was it twenty
two or twenty three accusers of sexual misconduct against Deshaun Watson.
So I've heard that this one is goes much farther
in the accusations than the previous ones did. So I

(01:54:43):
think this is something that's very serious and really Deshaun
Watson has done absolutely nothing to earn any benefit of
the doubt here as far as I'm concerned.

Speaker 2 (01:54:52):
Good point, So what's happening? Go ahead, chef, continue say no,
let your point. So this came out here. I just
wanted to add this that Tony Busby made a statement
I believe through a news agency in Ohio that quote,
We'll be scheduling a meeting with the NFL. I hope
this can be accomplished in the next two weeks. Here's

(01:55:14):
where it really gets diicy, because you know, the allegations
have been you know, denied, but Tony Buzzby wrote in
an email quote, we have a video and two additional
witnesses for the NFL to speak with. I've personally never
had confidence in the NFL's disciplinary process, but my client

(01:55:34):
has chosen to engage in it. So, according to the lawsuit,
It was filed last Monday. The alleged actions actually occurred
almost four years ago, right before Watson and a woman
she's identified as Jane Doe in the court filing, they
were set to have dinner at the women's apartment. Watson
was a member of the Texans at the time. Now Tuesday,
the NFL said it is reviewing the complaint under the

(01:55:57):
Personal Conduct Policy. But the NFL also said that the
Watson will not be placed on the Commissioner's exemple list
because there's been no formal charges and they've just begun
the review, all right. Meanwhile, Deshaun Watson will start Sunday
against Jacksonville. He declined to comment on the lawsuit, referring
to a team statement and then the statement. Buzzby said

(01:56:19):
he reached out to Watson's attorneymy attorneys to try to
resolve the matter privately. Apparently they wouldn't be able to
do it. I guess he did it over a ten
month period, so you know. Watson has settled twenty three
to twenty four lawsuits that were filed against him going
back to the summer of twenty twenty two. This lawsuit
filed Monday is unrelated to the two remaining active lawsuits.

(01:56:42):
So there's more news to come out here. And when
your attorneys saying they got video and additional witnesses, he
gets a little dicey. I think you can understand we
need to let the story play out, but it adds
to the already questionable optics coming up. What kind of
brand new fool of you? And what my name? Keep
it locked? You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show on

(01:57:04):
Fox Sports Radio. Yup, that's right, you heard the man
Bernie fradleshow keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie Frawdle.

what you love you can't lay without at the dance
senstation sweep of the nation. See because here on the
Bernie Fraddle Show, we pay attention. You'll get Barra said
it best. You can observe a lot by watching. And
that's exactly what we do, because around this great country

(01:57:44):
of ours, from sea to oily sea, and certainly even
around the globe, will people engage in behaviors. Oftentimes those
behaviors are silly and stupid, but they're benign. Other times
they get you in trouble. Even more often, these behaviors
become quite serious. You run and follow the law. They
can even end you up in jail. However, anyway you

(01:58:05):
slice it, anyway, describe it, anyway you characterize it, they
always leave us scratching our head and asking ourselves the
same question, what kind of brand new fool are you? So?

Speaker 10 (01:58:23):
What kind of brand new fool are you?

Speaker 2 (01:58:27):
Well, we take you to the great state of Maine
this week, and we introduce you to a gentleman named Kevin,
a forty one year old who recently ordered a ride
share uber. He just wanted to go to the local
TJ Max and I don't know the driver dropped him off,
and that's where the fun starts to begin. Police say

(01:58:48):
they were called to the TJ Max on Broadway after
a riots. Your driver reported that he somehow knew his
passenger head wants for his arrest blah blah blah, drugs,
all kinds of stuff, right, and police identified the passenger
as mister Gray. There were multiple warrants for his arrest.
He was also a suspect in the case from a
few days earlier. Officers responded, they say they spotted Gray

(01:59:12):
as he came out of the store. He was arrested
after a brief footchase by the way. Police also said
mister Gray had seven sets of pre conviction bail conditions
at prevented him from going to several businesses in the area. Why, well,
I'm about to tell you. Apparently they were all due
to theft charges at each one of those stores. You say,

(01:59:33):
when mister Kevin ordered the ride share to the local
TJ Maax, he was a man with a plan. He
was determined to rob the place. The driver dropped him
off and called the cops. Why because he told the
uber driver he was going to Tjmax to rob the place. Yep,

(01:59:54):
that's right. He blabbed to his Uber driver about how
he was on his way to commit a crime. Oh
my goodness, driver did the right thing. And as I said,
mister Kevin had several sets of pre conviction bail conditions
that barred him from even shopping at several businesses in
the area because yes, the theft charges at those stores.

(02:00:17):
By the way, mister Kevin is a man of many talents.
He's also facing charges in relation to theft, as well
as drug possession, warrants and violations of conditions of release. Wow,
which leaves us asking the question, mister Kevin forty one
years old of Maine, what kind of brand new food
are you? All right? Shay, Welcome back into the full buddy.

(02:00:42):
You usually have some good ones here. Yep, your turn, bud.

Speaker 11 (02:00:48):
Let's let's go to Las Vegas for this one where
a Las Vegas store clerk arrested for beating a man
with a bat over nacho cheese spread.

Speaker 2 (02:01:00):
Wait start, wait, that's too good. Read that again, Say
that again.

Speaker 11 (02:01:04):
So the report is a Las Vegas store clerk was
arrested for beating a man, which I'm guessing was a
customer with a bat over nacho cheese spread. So, a
Las Vegas convenience store clerk was arrested for allegedly beating
a man with a baseball bat for taking too much
nacho cheese. According to an arrest report, a Las Vegas

(02:01:24):
Metropolitan Police arrested forty seven year old Myron Bully last
week on suspicion of attempted murder and battery with a
deadly weapon. In their arrest, LVMPD said they got a
call in the early morning of Tuesday, September third about
a person bleeding near the Arcove gas station at Robo
Boulevard and Russell Road. Don't know if that's near you, Bernie.

Speaker 2 (02:01:46):
Russell Road is within ten minutes.

Speaker 11 (02:01:49):
Okay, then, so it's right by you, So I guess.
Officers found the victim lying near the sidewalk with his
face covered in blood, and the man said he couldn't
tell what happened and was taking to UMC via a lens.
The person who called nine one one told police he
saw the victim on the ground while pumping gas and
asked the store clerk to call nine one one, where
the clerk responded, I'm not going to call nine one one.

(02:02:11):
He'd better have learned a lesson.

Speaker 2 (02:02:14):
God hate I heard that here. Yeah, yes, he was
reported in the local news.

Speaker 11 (02:02:18):
Continue on shake, So the clerk remember that, go ahead,
told officers he was upset the victim took too much
cheese from the Nacho cheese machine, so he told the
victim to leave and not break things. According to the report,
the victim left the store, but returned a few minutes later.
The victim said he wouldn't leave without Nacho, so really
pushed him out and hit him with a baseball About now. So,

(02:02:39):
I'm not really sure who the fool is here in
this situation, but I'll give it to both of them,
bully and customer. What kind of brand new fool are you?

Speaker 2 (02:02:49):
Yeah? So I actually heard that on the news. Shehae uh,
no joke. Apparently what transpired is how you just described
it then the way we reported here locally. After taking
a couple of shots of the head with a bat,
I guess he went out try to pump some gas
and he got keeled over, right, he just keeled over,

(02:03:10):
and another bystander said, hey, call nine one one. This
guy's not doing well. And that's when I think it
was the proprietor of the gas station said, hell, no,
I'm not calling nine one. I hope he learned his lesson. Yeah,
that guy would have. Yeah, that's what? Yes?

Speaker 5 (02:03:24):
That what?

Speaker 2 (02:03:25):
What? What jogged my memory was when you said that quote, Yeah,
what do he says, say that, I hope he learned
his lessoner someday.

Speaker 11 (02:03:33):
Yeah, he said, I'm not calling the cops. I hope
he learned his lesson.

Speaker 2 (02:03:36):
Who All right, it's a good one man right here
in my hometown of Las Vegas. Okay, chef, you're up next, buddy.

Speaker 8 (02:03:42):
All right, So we go to Chesterfield, Virginia, where local
firefighters wants to remind everyone to not store your gun
in an oven. As they responded, they responded to a fire,
a call regarding a fire, and when firefighters opened the oven,
they found a gun inside, and they said someone turned

(02:04:03):
the oven on with it inside, so the gun overheated
and five rounds went off and a fire started. So
they now they did not identify who the homeowner was
or who potentially decided to bake their gun, but they
do want to remind everyone please store your gun properly.

Speaker 10 (02:04:20):
Do not leave.

Speaker 8 (02:04:21):
It in an oven because this is the result that
could happen. And unidentified homeowner in Virginia, what kind of
brand new fool?

Speaker 10 (02:04:31):
Are you?

Speaker 2 (02:04:32):
All right? Good one, chef? Now, can you leave it
in a microwave oven? If we determined that.

Speaker 8 (02:04:36):
They did not specify that, but we at least know
now if you try putting your gun in an oven then.

Speaker 2 (02:04:44):
Or a convection of it or an airfier. Have we
confirmed an.

Speaker 8 (02:04:48):
Not yet, but I would not recommend personally using any
of those devices to store your gun.

Speaker 2 (02:04:55):
Well, chef, as you always say, it's one thing to
have a bun on the oven, it's another thing to
have a gun on the oven. Great job, guys. Good
stuff has always Las Vegas to Maine to was it Chesterfield? Virginia?

Speaker 10 (02:05:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:05:07):
Once again Florida left in the cold. We're due for
Florida one, guys, but you know we're equal opportunity here.
We're not trying to pick on Florida. All right, Great job, guys,
with what kind of brand new fool which now opens
the door and allows us to segue into our second favorite,
our second favorite bit, which we lovingly referred to as

(02:05:32):
what my name? All right? I am the first NFL
rookie coach in thirty three years to get a win,
a home win, or check that, a win in Week
one NFL rookie rookie head coach, not in the first

(02:05:52):
year with a new team, but rookie head coach Shane
Mogenngar what my name.

Speaker 11 (02:05:59):
This happened recently, Yes, no.

Speaker 2 (02:06:10):
Problem, all right. I'm the first rookie NFL head coach
in thirty three years to get a win my first
time out Week one chef.

Speaker 10 (02:06:18):
What my name got?

Speaker 8 (02:06:20):
Sam McVeigh won his first game back in twenty seventeen,
So did he?

Speaker 2 (02:06:24):
Yeah, if that's the case that my research is bad,
because I my research said it was Jerrod Mayo.

Speaker 8 (02:06:30):
Grod may Okay, yeah, I do. That's something I remember,
So don't quote.

Speaker 2 (02:06:34):
Yeah, let's defer to you. Then that's that's you do.
Concur with that, mister Ramsey, why not, Let's move on
this one. I know is right. I'll bet a finger
on it. The Cleveland Browns have had a bazilion quarterbacks
since nineteen ninety four. But of all those quarterbacks, I'm
the only one that's a current head coach in the

(02:06:55):
National Football League, Mark Ramsey, what' my name?

Speaker 12 (02:07:00):
It's uh? I got a bad guess, Brandy Kozar, I.

Speaker 2 (02:07:06):
The best of my knowledge, guys, Bernie Cozar is not
currently a head coach in the National.

Speaker 12 (02:07:11):
Football is just a guest, just to get it.

Speaker 2 (02:07:12):
But he was a former quarterback for the Browns, so
you do get some some credit there, all right, Cleveland
Brown's quarterback have had. I counted them up once. It
might be like twenty five of them literally quarterbacks, starting
quarterbacks since nineteen ninety four. But I'm the only one
who's currently an NFL head coach chef what my name?

Speaker 8 (02:07:29):
Starting quarterback since nineteen ninety four. Jim Harbaugh.

Speaker 2 (02:07:32):
Not Jim Harbaugh. Oh Harbball never played for the Browns.
Cleveland Browns have had. Again, I should have looked this number. There'
at least twenty five quarterbacks since nineteen ninety four, but
I'm the only one currently who's a head coach in
the National Football League. Shavee Mogangard what my name?

Speaker 11 (02:07:47):
He's currently a head coach in the This sucks because
I'm a Browns fan and I don't know this.

Speaker 2 (02:07:53):
And when I say the name, you're gonna go, oh man,
well you take a shot.

Speaker 11 (02:07:58):
Is is auto?

Speaker 2 (02:08:01):
It's actually Doug Peterson. Guys. Oh okay, Doug Peterson. And
I know you guys. Yeah, we're under the gun here,
all right. There was a terrific There was a terrific
performance Monday night by an undrafted rookie running back by
the San Francisco forty nine ers. But I still hold
the record for the most yards rushing in a Monday

(02:08:24):
night game by an undrafted quarter undrafted running back Mark Ramsey.
What my name.

Speaker 10 (02:08:31):
Walter Payton?

Speaker 2 (02:08:33):
Not Walter Payton, and I do believe Walter Payton was
drafted out of Jackson State, but I digress. I still
hold the record as an undrafted running back for the
most yards rushing. And then Monday night NFL game, chef,
what my name.

Speaker 10 (02:08:51):
Trying to think? Was charl Davis drafted?

Speaker 2 (02:08:54):
Yeah he was raft like seventh round out.

Speaker 8 (02:08:56):
Of Okay, So yeah, yeah, he was late then, so
that was my guess.

Speaker 2 (02:09:00):
Not till Davis. I still hold a record as an
undrafted running back for the most yards rushing in a
Monday night NFL game. Shay, what my name?

Speaker 11 (02:09:11):
James Robinson was undrafted?

Speaker 2 (02:09:13):
Is it him? Okay, that's a good that's a damn
good guess, actually, but it's not him. Once again, I
know you guys are gonna you knew this one. Arian Foster,
remember him.

Speaker 11 (02:09:20):
Guys, oh big money years ago?

Speaker 10 (02:09:23):
Aaron, I don't know Arion Foster was undrafted.

Speaker 2 (02:09:26):
He was undrafted.

Speaker 8 (02:09:27):
I do have an update on the research I did
Sean McVay did win his debut forty six to nine
victory against the Colts back in twenty seventeen.

Speaker 2 (02:09:36):
You know what, maybe I meant to say, the first
rookie coach in three years to win. Good night, folks,
I have been drinking. Promise draft safely, join the show.
Good job guys, always keeping keeping me honest, and we
want to do this thing right. I think I wrote
down three years and it looked like thirty three. Never mind,
all right, moving on. I'm the head coach of an

(02:09:57):
NFL team who didn't have a single completion of fifteen
yards or more in Week one this past week in
the NFL season. Where do we leave off? Let's see
Mark Ramsey, what my name is it?

Speaker 12 (02:10:11):
The Cleveland brown head coach.

Speaker 2 (02:10:13):
Not the Cleveland brown Head coach. That's Kevin Stefanski, not him.
I'm the head coach of a team, an NFL team
we've done for a single completion of more than fifteen
yards this past week, Shae, what my name?

Speaker 11 (02:10:26):
There was a team that had less than fifteen yards.

Speaker 2 (02:10:29):
No, they didn't have a single completion of more than
fifteen yards.

Speaker 11 (02:10:33):
Oh, a single completion of more than fifteen.

Speaker 2 (02:10:36):
Yards, which in the NFL is not good.

Speaker 11 (02:10:39):
The Bengals.

Speaker 2 (02:10:40):
Not the Bengals. Not the Bengals.

Speaker 10 (02:10:43):
Horrible though one Yeah, Sunday.

Speaker 2 (02:10:44):
God, not the Bengals either.

Speaker 10 (02:10:47):
He points team league here, how'd you get?

Speaker 2 (02:10:50):
You know what? How would you like to be the
guys who drafted Christian McCaffrey.

Speaker 8 (02:10:54):
Took I took ceed Lamb number one overall. I took
Ceed Lamb number one over And people question me, why
why can't you take Christian mccaffert, Because he's never, or
at least not in a long time, has had two
consecutive healthy seasons in a row.

Speaker 10 (02:11:09):
And I wasn't gonna take that chance.

Speaker 2 (02:11:10):
No, And I gotta tell you, I think this whole
thing was pre planned. I really do. I think I
don't think you're gonna see him till late October. They
know they can roll. They're gonna have him fresh for
the playoffs. With conversation for another day, I'm the head
coach of a team who didn't have a single NFL
team who didn't have a single completion of more than
fifteen yards in Week one? Chef, what my name?

Speaker 10 (02:11:31):
I am gonna go, Matt Iberflus.

Speaker 2 (02:11:33):
You got it? Win or winter. I gotta tell you, guys,
I'm watching I'm watching Kayleb Williams closely Sunday. I think
they're gonna He's gonna get hit more than Rocky ball ball.
He didn't the pre listen. I'm not gonna argue saying it.
I've been saying it on this air. I said it
about Trey Lamps four years ago. I've said it about

(02:11:55):
justin fields. You're seeing something, aren't you. Shit, You're just
seeing that in tang that's got you concerned, and it's
got a lot of people concerned. No one wants to
talk about it.

Speaker 11 (02:12:04):
I saw at usc Man there.

Speaker 2 (02:12:06):
You know it's not easy. In the preseason, he sucked to.

Speaker 11 (02:12:10):
Me, Yeah, it's there was nothing. We were all going
crazy about that one pass that was that touchdown play.
Everyone's going crazy over that one play.

Speaker 2 (02:12:20):
Look, I'd rather have strong opinions like that that may
or may not come to fruition that people go on
their and say, well you think they could win, Well
they might, they might not. Okay, we don't want to
do that kind of I appreciate coming sick with it. There.
You may be right. And I got to tell you
rookie quarterbacks who start Week one in fort round since
two thousand or been twenty seven, five and twenty two

(02:12:40):
straight up. Week one, it gets worse Week two. I
have to see a lot more because what's ironic is
the other rookie quarterbacks all did reasonably well in the preseason.
Caleb Williams did not check me one time. Check me.
I'm not wrong, all right? Moving along, I'm the head
coach of an NFL team who's won sixteen straight home games,

(02:13:01):
averaging thirty six points per game and winning margin of
nineteen points per game. I'm the head coach of that
NFL team, Mark Ramsey, What my.

Speaker 10 (02:13:09):
Name I'm gonna say? I don't know that name.

Speaker 2 (02:13:17):
Good delivery. I'm the head coach of an NFL team.
We've won our last sixteen home games by an average
score of thirty six to seventeen. Chef, what my name?

Speaker 8 (02:13:27):
Last sixteen home games? Hmm, I'm gonna guess, uh, Dominico Ryans.

Speaker 2 (02:13:36):
Not Tamiko Ryans. I'm the head coach of an NFL
team sixteen straight home wins by an average margin of
thirty six to seventeen. Shay, what my name?

Speaker 11 (02:13:46):
I read this that the other day. It's the Cowboys.
So it's Mike McCarthy.

Speaker 2 (02:13:49):
Right, it's absolutely correct.

Speaker 11 (02:13:50):
I didn't know.

Speaker 10 (02:13:52):
I would not have guessed.

Speaker 11 (02:13:53):
Wow, I know right what I read?

Speaker 2 (02:13:57):
Of course, Well there you go season. Yeah. I am
of the belief that they're gonna put it on the
Saints against Sunday too, so we'll see, all right. I'm
the only NBA player to play as a teenager and
as a forty year old, Mark Ramsey, what my.

Speaker 12 (02:14:15):
Name, Lebron James.

Speaker 2 (02:14:19):
You got it? You got a good, good, good one.
Now I have to be honest with fair on this.
Lebron James turns forty on December thirtieth, so he's technically
not forty yet, but when he does, he'll be the
only NBA player to have played as a teenager and
at age forty. All right, we all know the Texas

(02:14:40):
Longhorns are loaded with talent. Quinn Ewrers was on the
short list to win the Heisman. I hope he's okay,
But believe it or not, guys, Saturday afternoon, when Arch
Manning stepped in his Heisman, Odd's here in Vegas went
from one hundred and fifty to one to twenty two
to one, just like that. But sorry, what I'm the

(02:15:01):
last Texas player to win the Heisman Trophy. Mark Ramsey
with my.

Speaker 12 (02:15:05):
Name if it was a running back. I think he
used to play for the Bears, but I might be wrong.

Speaker 2 (02:15:18):
I'm the last Tech Texas long Orange player to win
the Heisman Trophy. Shay, what my name?

Speaker 11 (02:15:30):
The cold McCloy one.

Speaker 2 (02:15:33):
McCoy, I'm the last Texas Longhorns player to win the
Heisman Trophy. Chef, what my name?

Speaker 10 (02:15:44):
I'm gonna guess Ricky Williams.

Speaker 2 (02:15:46):
You got it, great, guess Ricky Williams.

Speaker 11 (02:15:54):
That's what I was.

Speaker 12 (02:15:55):
That's what I was thinking, because he was the well
but it was the Bears. He played for the Saints
when Dicta was over there.

Speaker 2 (02:16:02):
Good, Yeah, you're spot on on that one.

Speaker 8 (02:16:04):
I just remember him with the Dolphins and then him
getting suspended for smoking and him decided to or he
took a sabbatical and then came back after that.

Speaker 2 (02:16:16):
Alrighty, then, so you guys, did you guys see Chris
boss will make those six field goals last week Week one?
All right? He did?

Speaker 11 (02:16:26):
Yeh yeah, yeah, it was crazy.

Speaker 2 (02:16:28):
Six field goals did miss one. That's not the first
time it was done. I was the first one to
do it back in nineteen ninety three. Mark Ramsey, what
my name?

Speaker 12 (02:16:37):
Oh my gifts is going to be Gary your premium,
But that's not right.

Speaker 2 (02:16:40):
I love that. Guess not him. I'm the first guy
to make six field goals in a game Week one.
Did it back in nineteen ninety three, Shaite, what my name?

Speaker 11 (02:16:49):
Wait to miss six field goals?

Speaker 2 (02:16:51):
Or made? Made? Made? So make yeh.

Speaker 11 (02:16:54):
Make me to make six field goals? Here's what about kerr?

Speaker 2 (02:17:01):
Good? Guess not him. I'm the first NFL player to
make six field goals in an opening day game back
in nineteen ninety three. I did it back in nineteen
ninety three, Chef, what my name?

Speaker 8 (02:17:10):
I'm gonna go with the only kicker I know from
the early nineties, Scott Norwood.

Speaker 2 (02:17:13):
Not Scott Norwood is actually John Carney, the Great John Carney,
the forty nine ers. But Squeen's the last went in.
I Finally, I'm the first guy in the NFL to
return a kickoff under this new rule in twenty twenty four,
Mark Ramsey, what my name?

Speaker 12 (02:17:28):
I'm going to say, I wasn't watching.

Speaker 11 (02:17:30):
I miss it.

Speaker 2 (02:17:32):
I'm the first NFL player to return a kickoff this
year under the new rule. Shaye, what my name?

Speaker 11 (02:17:39):
Oh dude, Oh my god. I hate that I don't
know a very distinctive name I know, right, and I
hate that I don't know his name?

Speaker 2 (02:17:47):
All right? I returned the first kickoff under the new
rule in the NFL twenty twenty four chef what my name?

Speaker 10 (02:17:55):
He probably plays for the Chiefs, ride with the Ravens.

Speaker 2 (02:18:00):
For the Arizona Cardinals. Memby did it against Buffalo.

Speaker 8 (02:18:03):
Oh, I didn't realize they took that long to actually have.

Speaker 10 (02:18:07):
A return last week?

Speaker 8 (02:18:09):
Yeah, all right today Sundays when I meant it, didn't
realize it took that long.

Speaker 10 (02:18:16):
But yeah, I would not know.

Speaker 2 (02:18:19):
The guy's name is DJ Dallas, DJ Dallas. Wow. All right, guys,
great job on what by name? What kind of brand
new fool of you? And what my name? The Bernie
Fraddles Show continues. Keep it locked. You're listening to the
Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right. The
Bernie Fradle Show keeps rolling right along. Lots of stuff
to get to, including a couple of NFL best bets. Oh.

(02:18:41):
By the way, Dion Sanders is being called out for
some decisions in the fourth quarter after the game against
Colorado State seemed to be well in the bag, called
out for some late game actions. Was he attempting to
pad his son's stats? That's the question. R all of
that and we got to get to Christopherfett's world of soccer.

(02:19:04):
But first we go back to our guys chef with
the latest YEP.

Speaker 8 (02:19:07):
Week three of college football is in the books, and
much of the talk is on the Texas Longhorns. They
demolished utsa fifty six to seven, but Arch Manning getting
significant playing time after Quinn Ewers, who played well in
his own right, left the game with an abdominal injury
and did not return, so Manning came in through four
touchdown passes had five total tds on the day as

(02:19:32):
Texas wins a fifty six to seven. Number one Georgia
had a struggle against Kentucky, but the Bulldogs do escape
Lexington with a thirteen to twelve victory. Alabama goes on
the road to Wisconsin and the tied roll forty two
to ten. Number five Ole miss forty to six, thumping
Awake Forest.

Speaker 10 (02:19:51):
Number six.

Speaker 8 (02:19:52):
Missouri wins the battle of right teams against Boston College
twenty seven to twenty one. Number seven Tennessee. They sixty
five nothing at halftime against Kent State and eventually would win.
It's seventy one to nothing. Ninth ranked Oregon State, Oregon
and Oregon State in the Civil War. Doesn't feel right
having that in mid September, but that's where we are

(02:20:13):
in college football in twenty twenty four. The Ducks do
win this edition forty nine to fourteen Number ten Miami
sixty two nothing shout out of ball State, twelve ranked
Utah over Utah State thirty eight, twenty one, number thirteen
Oklahoma State blows out Tulsa forty five to ten. Fifteenth
ranked Oklahoma holds off to Lane thirty four nineteen and
number sixteen. LSU comes from behind to beat South Carolina

(02:20:36):
thirty six two thirty three, number eighteen. Notre Dame bounces
back from their loss in Northern Illinois to completely demolished
Purduce sixty six seven, seventeenth rank Michigan twenty eighteen winners
against Arkansas State. And we've got flurry of injury news
in the NFL to report on Ian Rappidport and Adam
Schefter with several updates overnight, and according to Schefter, to

(02:21:00):
tago Iloa, who suffered another concussion Thursday against Buffalo. He's
scheduled to meet early this week with neurologists, so we'll
see exactly what his status will be in the next
couple of days. Ian Rappaport with several updates, saying Marshaun
Lattimore questionable with a hip and hamstring issue. He's pushing
to play, but the Saint's gonna be cautious and want

(02:21:21):
to make sure he is healthy over the long run.
Colts wide receiver Josh Downs he has a high ankle spring.
He is fifty to fifty on whether he plays on Sunday.
He did practice fully on Friday, but the team does
does want to make sure he has zero issues before
they send him out there. Backwards wide receiver Jaden Reid
is questionable with the calf and shin injury. Is expected

(02:21:44):
to play. Lines wide receiver Jamison Williams expected to take
the field on Sunday. He's been dealing with an ankle injury.
Ravens linebacker Kyle van Noy he is dealing with a
fractured orbittle bone. He wants to see how he feels
this morning before he takes the field against the Raiders,
but he is optimistic about being able to play and

(02:22:06):
marquise Hollywood Brown. The Chiefs were hoping to maybe get
him back at some point before too much of the
season has passed, but now, according to Adam Schefter, he's
not expected to play at all in the regular season,
and Jamar Chase has no plans to negotiate a long
term deal this season with the Cincinnati Bengals, saying that
he feels the team misled him in contract talks.

Speaker 10 (02:22:29):
Back to you, Bernie, All right, Jeff, So you know we.

Speaker 2 (02:22:35):
Covered all on the Bernnie Frattle Show, and that includes
well the worldwide sport they call football futbol. There's always news.
There's always news. That's why we bring you each week
at this time. Chris purfets World of Soccer.

Speaker 7 (02:22:53):
The greatest goals, the thrilling finishes, the international drum.

Speaker 10 (02:23:09):
It's all here in this report from the World of Soccer.

Speaker 6 (02:23:12):
Bernie a little chance to recap a few stories from
our last edition of the World of Soccer. But if
we plunge into club the club slate for this weekend. First,
a quick note. We did mention two stories last weekend.
The first was that ESPN was going to try to
introduce this AI written articles for recapping National Women's Soccer
League's games, and that Alex Morgan would be retiring from

(02:23:35):
professional soccer, that her last game would be on Sunday. Well,
the two happen to collide here in a very hilarious
way in that that AI service, which we have warned
you about, can't actually write articles, doesn't know what's important,
is simply guessing, and that's all large language models are.

Speaker 10 (02:23:52):
At the end of the day, wrote a recap of.

Speaker 6 (02:23:54):
The San Diego Wave game and made no mention whatsoever
of Alex Moore that that was her final game. It
didn't even mention Alex Morgan anywhere in the article whatsoever.
Brutal to say the least for ESPNS vaunted that they
themselves are flaunting the rollout of this service, which they
claim will serve underserved sports, rather than you know, just

(02:24:17):
hiring a real writer who is passionate to cover the
National Women's Soccer League, which there are many people out
there that you can do. The article was, as far
as I can tell, later edited to include mention of
Alex Morgan. They did put a human writer on it eventually,
But why this recap was written in the first place,
and the fact that everyone saw that it had no

(02:24:38):
mention of Alex Morgan, which is the first story that
you should be talking about with this San Diego Wave game,
that this was Alex Morgan's last game nowhere to be
mentioned at all. Is it just once again highlights the
problem of this. I understand people get excited for new technology,
but at some point we have to accept what is
reality with these technologies too.

Speaker 10 (02:24:58):
Sometimes it doesn't make.

Speaker 6 (02:24:59):
Me a a lutite or whatever, but it does mean
I have to remain skeptical of this thing and see
it for what it is, a rank useless exercise to
excise human voices from the world of soccer, which we
will not stand for. I'm not ever going to use
an AI to make these world of soccer accounts, and

(02:25:20):
neither should anyone else. Also a story to catch up
on is Mauricio Poschatino, the Argentinian who we have been
hinting at almost all summer would be the successor to
Greg Berhalter for the US men's national team, and he
was formerly announced on September tenth. The putchyball era now
begins in the United States. I think this is a

(02:25:42):
great hire for the United States, not only from a
development side of things, but also from his philosophy. Especially,
he's been known for a very high press attacking style
of play, which the Americans are well suited for. But
also it's his attitude that really gets to me, and
it's something it's a breath of fresh air to the
US men's team that they've really needed, and that need

(02:26:03):
is only amplified here as the US had a friendly
last week with Canada and got embarrassed by their longtime
rival to the North. I've heard some people trying to
say that, like, Okay, you know, Pochettino's on the way,
We're just taking a day off.

Speaker 10 (02:26:17):
I don't really see it like that.

Speaker 6 (02:26:19):
And unfortunately for the US, there's only less than about
ten international windows remaining between now and the World Cup
itself in twenty twenty six, so there's a lot of
time here that really needs to be resolved to get
this team playing. In order that said, Podchettino in a
press conference says, the US itself has to believe it
can win the twenty twenty six World Cup. So there's

(02:26:40):
a lot that I think that Pochettino at least is
going to be good in understanding that there needs to
be some belief in this. We can't just keep trotting out.
This is the most talented American team ever. Lying the
team has to play together as a team, they have
to believe in themselves, and they have to really get
a shot in the arm for all of this. One

(02:27:01):
interesting thing about Podgettino's contract is there is a buyout.
We don't know the full detail.

Speaker 5 (02:27:06):
I've heard.

Speaker 6 (02:27:07):
You know, it might be as low as in the
tens of millions, which is not very big for some
other entity to come along and try to buy Pochettino out,
especially if he does well with the US. But it's
also a case in that this might just be something
where this is a chance for the manager to prove
himself as the head coach of the US team. You know,
it's this has been a history of the Federation giving

(02:27:31):
large contracts to guys who have just watched these things
kind of Crater and Crater and creter. And for the US,
the big goal is twenty twenty six right now. What
it looks like beyond that, who knows. But I think
Pochettino is in a good spot to try to turn
this thing around for the US which has been trending
in the wrong way, and you just don't want to

(02:27:51):
be embarrassed on your own soil, in your own hosted
World Cup, no matter what I think that between Potchettino
and Emma Hayes on the women's side, the US has
two very good coaches here. We'll have to see how
Pochettino goes about this team and his vaunted development and
high pressing attack and how he can get everything straight away.
And now let's get you back over to the club

(02:28:12):
side of things. Looking into the Premier League, it's been
a very hot start for Liverpool, who we've talked about
before about expiring contracts and can Arnslought take over for
Jurgen klop Well coming into this weekend with three wins,
I think that answer is yes so far now. Granted
they've played Brentford and Ipswich Town man United was their

(02:28:33):
big challenge there and Manchester United has been far from guy.
I'd even dare to say good to start the year. However,
I think most questions about Arnslought have kind of gone
by the wayside. It's been a very electric, very inspired
form of play from Liverpool to start this year, and
it's one that's made a lot of people kind of

(02:28:55):
sit up and take notice, especially as these guys are
at kind of an end of an era. But I
think Slot has really kind of given them and shown
that the organization behind Liverpool, not just the manager, is
the real powerhouse up in the North there, and that
Liverpool is probably here to stay as long as they
can figure out some of their contract situations. For Manchester United,

(02:29:18):
as I mentioned, it's one of their worst starts for
the season. They are one to zero and two and
it's really starting to put the timer on the career
of Eric ten Hogg, who needs wins and he needs
them very quickly. Here United entering a new erash era
with its ownership and just fully not just eclipsed, but
fully forgotten in the grand scheme of things, really just

(02:29:42):
joining the ranks of Chelsea as once great clubs that
are just really flailing and struggling to understand where they go.
Much in contrast with Liverpool, who has shown organizational fortitude
through these years even with their problems, whereas Manchester United,
face with those problems, has flail and struggled to come
out of the gate, and one of their rivals across

(02:30:03):
the way Manchester City. Well, I don't know if Manchester
City thinks much of me and you at all these days.
Very fun thing. I don't know how much you care
about British music, Bernie. There's been a bit of a
stir the last few weeks that Oasis, the British band,
is trying to set to make a comeback. Now this
is of course if they famously, if the famous drama

(02:30:26):
behind Oasis doesn't completely destroy that altogether.

Speaker 10 (02:30:29):
But big week for Oasis.

Speaker 6 (02:30:31):
Noel Gallagher's guitar sold for I believe one hundred and
thirty thousand pounds and he got to co create the
Definitely City shirt, which is a reference to the thirtieth
anniversary of his band's first album, Definitely Maybe So City
is out here wearing Oasis gear to celebrate one of
the titans of British rock making their return, and Manchester

(02:30:54):
United is flailing and treading water. Fun times in the
world of soccer, Bernie. We are counting down the days
the MLS Cup playoffs aim the return of Lionel Messi
to the Inter Miami lineup. This coming week is the
beginning of the UEFA Champions League and We have some
Titanic matches right off the start, including Manchester City and
Inter Milan and Real Madrid, Stutte guard Ac Milan in Liverpool.

(02:31:17):
So much Young Boys, Aston Villa. This is gonna be
a really fun season. We'll talk about it next time
on the World of Soccer.

Speaker 2 (02:31:25):
British Music, Come on, Chrissy, you kidding me, buddy, The Beatles,
led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Pink, Floyd David. But look right
on down the line, oh love it. As a matter
of fact, when I was in London in May, I
took a picture of myself. My wife took it crossing
Abbey Road, you know, as an homode to the you know,

(02:31:46):
the Abbey Road album from nineteen seventy one. I stood
there in front of Avy Road Studios. There are two
arm guards and they were a heavy fence, and I'm
thinking to myself, oh my god, the stuff that was
done there blew me away. Coming out, we wrap up
the Bernie Frattle Show, Deon Sanders under Fire for some
late game actions and got a couple of best bets
for you for Sunday's NFL Slate. I'm Bernie Frattle. We're

(02:32:10):
coming to Live from the Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio,
Tarreck doc Comm Studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to
The Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio. Howver wrapping
it up on The Bernie Fradtle Show Fox Sports Radio.
Before I go any further tonight, I want to thank
my broadcast team. They've been with me since eleven pm
Pacific time. They're back in Los Angeles holding down the Fort.

(02:32:32):
Shay Morgan Guard, great job to night buddy, Mark Ramsey,
great job the night, Buddy, Kevin Wire at the chef,
Great job the night, Buddy. Great job by the team,
Excellent stuff with brand new fool what My Name and
commentary throughout the night as we yuck it up on
another edition of The Bernie Frattle Show. We'll look forward
to having you guys back all next Saturday night. A
couple of bets. I like Sunday's NFL Slate. I love

(02:32:54):
the Texans to pull ax the Bears. Texans are laying six.
The Bears needed a specialty Tams touchdown and a pick
six to win at home against the Titans last week.
Now you get CJ. Stroud in the Texans and under
a touchdown. Sign me up. I think the Bears offense
with a rookie quarterback in a short handed wide receiver room.
You tell me they're ready to go on the road

(02:33:14):
and compete with the playoff caliber team. I don't think so.
And you heard Chase comment earlier in the night about
Caleb Williams. He may not be wrong. We gotta let
it play out. But I didn't see a hell of
a lot in the preseason. I saw even less last week.
Let's be honest, here Bears are walking into a hornets nest.
This Houston team is very good. I like him to
crush the Bears. Secondly, I like the Bucks getting seven

(02:33:39):
and a half against the Detroit Lions. Now remember the Lions.
I'm not saying the Lambs are gonna win, but that's
a lot of points to give a team with their
new offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay, Liam Cohen, a very
bright play caller who was shown that he did it
a Kentucky did with the Rams. And now last week
with Week one with Baker Mayfield, where they put up

(02:34:00):
with thirty seven points, screen passes, deep routes. He's putting
his playmakers in position to make plays. Baker Mayfield has arrived.
Tom Brady even a minute he regretted not drafting Baker
Mayfield for his fantasy team. So where am I going
with this? Lions and Rams played an overtime game last
Sunday night. You saw it. Whenever team's play an overtime

(02:34:23):
game historically, and you have less than seven days to prepare,
you have less than seven days rest. I know we're
splitting hairs a little because the game is Sunday night,
not Monday. Those teams only cover forty one percent of
the time. I think it's baked into the line. I
know Tampa's got some injuries in their secondary, but this
is a very prolific offense. The back door will stay open.

(02:34:45):
Would surprise me if the games with thirty four twenty
eight games thirty four to thirty one, But I think
Tampa Bay hangs at number Tampa Bay plus seven and
a half. By the way, one last thing, the Lions
defense was on the field for seventy four plays. You
have small sample size. They give up some chuck plays
to the Rams. They're twenty ninth in the league currently
and yards per play allowed. The Bucks are gonna get
their points, probably gonna be a high scoring game over

(02:35:07):
the fifty one I'm not involved in that, but I
like the Bucks plus seven and a half, like the
Bears chucked that Detexans minus six. Colorado got their win
over Colorado State. Big damn deal that in fifty cents
to get your cup of coffee at the Burger chef.
But something happened at the end of the game which
caused Fox's arn Ross Tucker to respond, and I think
in a very intelligent and measured manner. A little over

(02:35:29):
a minute left, Colorado's up almost twenty points, said go
forward on fourth down, throwing a pass. The paps was incomplete.
Sanders took a hit. Shudor Sanders, the quarterback, took a
hit while delivering it. Tucker says, they're lucky that wasn't
a bigger hit. Can you imagine what would be saying
this week if Shudor Sanders got his throwing arm hit
in the game when they're up nineteen or less than
a minute ago, when it could have just taken a

(02:35:49):
knee went on to say, this has to be all
dion because the offensive coordinator Pat Shermer many many years
in the NFL, he wouldn't be doing that in this situation.
Time NFL head coach, he would take an eat, win
the game, and go home. Did Dion want a Pattison stats? Maybe? Regardless,
the decision did make a hell of a lot of sense.
And now people are calling out Dion as well as

(02:36:12):
his son in the press conference for lining up all
the linement. So what, Let's have a little fun. But
what would Colorado football be without a little drama. I'm
gonna do it for the Bernie Fraddles Show back on
these airways next Friday night at eleven pm. In the meantime,
Keep it Locked, biggest thing to come out of Cincinnati
since Ted Klezuski. It's Andy Furman. Keep it Locked. Fox
Sports Radio.
