Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio. Well, that's right,
you heard the man. It is a time of week.
My name is Bernie Frotter. We are coming you alive
the Fox Sports Radio studios here in Las Vegas. Take
you up to three in Pacific, six am Eastern. And
my goodness, what a show we've got for you tonight.
What a week? Oh yeah, you know. You know. When

(00:23):
I first got into this business, my mentor was a
gentleman by the name of Dick Shapp. He asked me
one day, why do you want to be in this business?
And I said, I see a time coming where the
business of sport, the business of covering sport, will override
these sports on the field themselves. And gradually that's been

(00:46):
happening in dribs and drabs, and it's taken on a crescendo,
and never has that been more evident this past week. Now,
let me set this up by saying, I bet you'd
agree with me that we've had a pretty exciting and unusual,
anitiosyncratic college football season this year. Right, did you have
a Heisman Trophy winner coming from Indiana back in August?

(01:11):
I almost said, did you have that on your Bingo card.
None of you got Bengo cards. I don't know how
this stupid thing started. You don't carry around Bingo cards.
I don't even know what they look like. Well, I
do know what they look like. But you don't have
a Bingo card for predictions. Okay, I'm done with that.
Did you have Anyana number one?

Speaker 2 (01:26):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:27):
We know Kurt Signetty was pretty good. No. Did you
have Penn State and Clemson screwing the pooch among other
big college stories? Ten fireings? No? No, we have a
very exciting playoff coming up next Friday, Alabama Oklahoma. I
mean we are really looking forward to it, all right,
But case in point, what have we been talking about

(01:49):
the last month? Not games on the field, but Lane
Kiffin with that knucklehead do it again? After five? You know,
ugly stupid, self centered, messy departures from major schools. What
do you do it again?

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Yeah, this most recent one was perhaps the most spectacular.
We're not talking about the games on the field. We're
talking about Notre Dame. Now. I respect the institution of mentally,
but in a very petty, selfish, self loathing move, the
non fighting Irish have taken their ball and gone home again.
I have a men's respect for the university. I've walked

(02:28):
that campus many times, seen several games in their stadium
versus USC Michigan and many others, and I think it's
the stellar institution. But in this case, they played the
victim and that's not gonna fly. I'm sorry. And how
about most recently this week where I found myself on
the phone with multiple Michigan insiders and cronies. And I

(02:48):
was in Michigan last week with my wife catching up
with people, saw this coming down the pipe, and see,
I have a bit of a dilemma here because I
know what happened. As a matter of fact, I know
some additional details that have been reported on yet and
I'm just simply not going to come forward with him.
But if you know me, and if you've listened to
my show, I don't really do TMZ radio, did you

(03:14):
hear me go off at length. When Meltucker was fired
in twenty twenty three admid sexual harassment allegations, didn't really
talk about it much. Not much after that. Before that,
Pat Fitzgerald of Northwestern was fired for cause. Tennessee fired
their head coach, Jeremy Pruett in twenty twenty one. In
twenty twelve, good old Bobby Petrino for cause and you

(03:35):
know why, having a relationship with the support and it's
showing favoritism, et cetering lying to his bosses about it.
Got a little crash in a motorcycle crash. Well yeah,
and Brian Kelly they just fired him at LSU and
that was a big stink. I didn't spend a lot
of time talking about that, but it becomes a situation,

(03:59):
especially now, is it's not what has happened, but how
do you react? How does this prestigious institution react. My
mother went to school University of Michigan. I covered that
program for many, many years, many years while I lived there.
And this is what we're going to have to be

(04:20):
talking about in the next ten to fourteen days. And
I mean quickly. First of all, Michigan obviously that due
to new coach, they got thirteen days to do it.
They have thirteen days to get it done. And if
I had a nickel for every knucklehead that's going on
in the air, throwing names around, like you know, Nichols,

(04:40):
having no knowledge of anything, just guessing, well, i'd hell
I'd have Elon musk Mo own my lawn. You know.
I had someone say, oh Cayln de Bori, you know,
if he loses the localah bah blah, Well he'll be depressed.
Who probably want to go there? Well, actually, Caitlyen do
Bar is very happy to at Alabama, not to say
anythink can happen and you can end up there, And

(05:02):
I will tell you that's Michigan's first choice if they
can get him. There's no guarantees. Then you hear the
name jesse Mentor, the defensive coordinator for the Chargers. You
heard me say thirteen days right, Well, jesse Mentor's got
a show cost and through April they ain't gonna happen.
Ain't going back to Michigan. He's doing a hell of

(05:23):
a job with the Chargers. Or not that he wouldn't
be a good choice, but Michigan is looking to somewhat
distance itself from the Harbor era and Mentor would be
retrieved by intrigued maybe by this, but I don't think
it's in the cards. Now you hear Jetfish, Well, Jetfish
has some Michigan history, but he's their number two choice.

(05:44):
Although he does he's a prolific offensive coach. He might
do a good job. I don't know. You'd have to
wait and see. Then Kenny Dillingham, who I think a
lot of it's not gonna be Kenny Dillingham. Then there's
other names going around like David Shaw from stand who
had ties to Harrorball, Brian Kelly laugh Cloud laugh. He

(06:06):
might go in and clean that mess up. Remember he's
got Michigan roots, won multiple national championships at Grand Valley
State and Central Michigan before heading on to Notre Dame
and then of course LSU, where that was a disaster
because he doesn't belong in the South. That was you know,
oil and water. And then I know a lot of

(06:27):
fans might say, well, hey, how about Biff Pogy. And
by the way, I left picked Biff Pogy. He can
come babysit the program for a year while we figure
this out. No, that's not how you do it in
major institution. And the problem is, as much as I
left Biff Pogy, he went six and sixteen in Charlotte.
He'll do a good job in the Bowl game. He
did a good job this year, and frankly I'd consider
keeping him on staff. I think but it ain't gonna

(06:49):
be Biff Pogy. You got to take the hard punch. Now,
get to work now, and then message is going to
clean up. Be cleaned up in one day or one season.
They got work to do, all right. So that's the
first thing we got to look at. But guess what,
it's not that simple because who gets to hire the
next coach? Right now? It's ad Ward Manual. But there

(07:11):
is no guarantee Ward Manual is going to survive this
as of Friday, he has nobody knows nothing. So if
Ward Manual, and by the way, Michigan's got an interim
president as well. If Ward Manuel isn't doing the hiring,
who is it, Well, I don't know and you don't either.
That's what I believe the regents are trying to sort
out right now. They just met Thursday to discuss his

(07:33):
future with the university. Unfortunately, there's been a laundry list
of issues, including the firing of former U of M
coach basketball coach Juwan Howard after he fought with the
Wisconsin basketball assistant that happened not making it up. Jim
Harbaugh and Sherylan Moore were suspended multiple times, and of
course you got the Connor Stallion's sign stealing saga, and

(07:54):
you've got Matt Weiss, the former quarterback coach who's not
being investigated for cyber stocking women on campus. That's not
the half of it. So there's kind of a list there,
all under Ward Manuals watch. As of yet, as a Saturday,
Ward Manual is still the athletic director at Nisity of Michigan.
But until they sort that out, you don't know. You
don't know nothing. And then let's not forget Bryce Underwood,

(08:21):
who's got all the talent in the world. But when
I was in Michigan last week, well, we think he's
got all the taut in the world. That's what they
told us. I'll just say this, he wasn't developed well.
And I get that you'd always blame somebody else. But
I talked to boosters and they weren't real happy. At
halftime of the Ohio State games, said what the hell
are we doing here? He's three for five now only

(08:42):
to let him throw five times? That's not his fault,
but why are they only to let him through five times?
You know what else was talked about. Michigan State's got
two quarterbacks, Aiden Childs who flumped. He followed what you know?
He followed the he followed, He's coach John C. Smith
from Oregon State to Michigan State, who's no longer there.
John C. Smith, no longer there. He got benched six

(09:04):
games into the season, and the replacement quarterback was a
kidnamed Alesio. And his last name looks like an I chart,
so I'm not going to try to pronounce it. Guess what,
both individually and half the season eight and Childs in
Alessio threw more touchdown passes than Bryce Underwood. Now why

(09:25):
is that? I don't know why it is. I'm glad
I haven't paid the twelve men, and that's not to
say it can't change next year. But guess what the
clock is ticking people off? Talk to that. I know
what the hell they're talking about. They're not just fans.
They have told me that Bryce Underwood has yet to
commit that. Yeah, I'm staying matter of fact, kind of

(09:49):
in the rumor stage. But he may have entered the portal.
That doesn't mean he's living. But I heard there's three
schools in the mix LSU where he's being highly sought after.
I heard even the honey Badger Tal Matthew's recruiting him.
Oregon is in the mix, and even Colorado. Okay, but
the clock is ticking. You got thirteen days, and I

(10:11):
gotta tell you it's one thing to lose your head coach.
You really don't want to lose Bryce Underwood. Okay, as
a true freshman, he played hard. I liked his poise.
I like this physical attitude. He counted for twenty five
hundred toll yards, and you know he's your QB one period.
Regardless of who the next coach is. I think Bryce
Underwood gives Michigan the best chance to compete for something

(10:35):
in twenty twenty six. They have a much tougher schedule.
You've also got a Jordan Marshall, a running back, Andrew
marsh a couple of good cornerbacks. They enjoyed some breakout years.
It's a young team. You've got thirteen days to install
a coach. Nobody knows nothing. And by the way, not
for nothing. What's next for Michigan as an institution. They're

(11:01):
going to be investigated. It's they no longer have the
privileges simply believing incidents that you know, Michigan's above this
kind of stuff. They're going to investigate themselves, They're going
to ask difficult questions. I've been inside sham Beckler Hall.
It's amazing, but it's tainted right now. And there's going

(11:22):
to be more news coming out. The two things I
can't tell you. Maybe i'll tell you next week, maybe
it'll come out on its own. But there hasn't been
a lot of transparency there at the university. Above all else,
the university, he no wants to show what's going to
take accountability and operate the same standard of excellence that

(11:46):
made their reputation over the last couple hundred years. They've
been around since eighteen seventeen. So there's a lot too unpacked.
There's a lot to know that we don't know. And
as I said, the business of sport now and covering
the business of sport overshadows the games on the field.

(12:06):
Don't tell me it isn't. A lot of people didn't
even know that Washington played Boise State Friday night. And
who can blame you. There's no buzz there. Army Navy, Yeah,
everybody knows that. I bless those guys and let the
bulls easy begin, let the playoffs begin, and let the
stories continue because we're watching them, and I will be
here to bring you the truth, not an opinion. By

(12:28):
the way, every goal starts with an assist on and
off the field. That's why Haleyon and US Soccer are
launching for the Assist, a celebration of everyday actually support
that help people achieve their goals with iconic brands like Censinedine, Thoms,
Voltaire and Advil and Simtrium. To learn more, go to
haley on Assist dot com. Coming up, Amal Shaw, our

(12:49):
NFL insider. We got lots unpack, a lot to talk about,
really interesting card in the NFL on Sunday, and maybe
a bit a little bit of unfinished business having to
do with the college football selection committee and a certain
team that was left out. I want to get his thoughts. Hi,

All right, back in the Bernie Fraddle Show, Fox Sports Radio,
coming you live from the Las Vegas studios here Fox
Sports Radio. It's welcome in a gentleman who's been on
my show many times, longtime NFL insider and among his
as a big part of his resume, worked alongside of
Brent Musberger. A mal Shaw. Welcome to Malshaw.

Speaker 6 (14:20):
Hi doing Buddy, I'm doing great.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Bernie.

Speaker 6 (14:23):
I always knew you were a smart guy, but I
had no idea you were that smart to do you
hire guys from UFC like Brandon. He was nice enough
to tell me I spoke in a class of his
at Annenberg Schools Communications at UFC, so it was great
to reconnect with a student I met several years ago.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
That's fantastic, good good stuff, good stuff. Appreciate that we
got so much to get to I got to dive in.
I love the cajole and one of the things. And
when I was on the show last week, I real quickly,
I want to get your real quick thought lightning round
on the college football Playoffs selection committee. When I signed
out last week, I said, it's going to be musical chairs. Alabama,

(15:02):
Notre Dame, Miami. One of the three is getting left out. Now.
Miami beat Notre Dame had to head. I believe they
deserve to be in BAM. I had a better strength
to record, but they lost three games. Committee never put
in a three win team. Did the committee get it right?
What's your thoughts on Notre Dame.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
I think they completely got it right. First of all,
too this nonsense that Notre Dame thinks that they're above
the fray is ridiculous. Let's start talking real here for
a second. Notre Dame hasn't won a national title in
thirty seven years. They played for a national title in
twenty twelve, and if Nick Saban's life was on the line,
he could have scored seventy against Notre Dame in that game.
Brian Kelly's team was only in that game because remember,

(15:37):
Ohio State wasn't eligible, even though they were twelve and
izo under Urban Meyer to play in the National Championships
that game. That year from the previous season they were
had a postseason Bowl ban, and then last year Ohio
State scored on their first five possessions. If a Mecca
Buka doesn't fumble the ball in the fourth quarter, Notre
Dame's not even back in that game. Notre Dame's a
nice story. And I know people want to think this

(15:58):
is the eighties and nineties.

Speaker 7 (15:58):
With lou Hold.

Speaker 6 (16:00):
They're not there. They're not that close. And the reality is,
if you took twenty teams with the losses to A
and M in Miami, remove those two off the table,
you got to beat uscat Who else did they have
they beaten? That schedule is nothing worse better than an
ACC schedule. And I'll tell you the other thing. If
by were the ACC conference base and the way Notre
Dame has come out and spoke, I would have every
one of my teams in conference this year forfeit every

(16:23):
sport that they played Notre Dame in every game.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Well, listen, we're in agreement. I don't know if you've
heard my opening monologue at the top. I thought it
was very petty and self loathing move that the non
fighting Irish would completely opt out of their bull game.
They took the ball and went home. And I've heard
of players opting out, but teams opting out. No, no,
not not in situations like that. I'm going to get
to that later in the show. So we are in

(16:48):
agreement with my friend excellent. Let's dive into this NFL
slate because right out of the gate, we have an
unusual situation twice, something that's only happened seven times in
the last five years. Them all, we've actually got two
teams that are home and they are home dogs, even
though they are both ten win teams. The first one
is Buffalo. Buffalo, a ten win team at home is

(17:09):
an underdog. Now I might note that in the last
five times this has only happened seven years, those whole
teams are one and six. So the Patriots trying to
go from worse to first, they won nine straight games.
They can actually can clinch the division title with the
win at home versus Buffalo. How do you see the game, mall?

Speaker 6 (17:29):
You know it's a bigger event spot here for Buffalo.
Remember they got beat by the Patriots several weeks back,
and then you mentioned that if New England wins this game,
the division is there, so how is a huge opportunity
for Mike Rable's team. But if you look at the
schedule for the New England Patriots, and we don't do
this in the NFL, I tend to look at schedules
and who you play because kind of gives you an

(17:49):
idea over the course of seventeen games, how really good
a team is or they benefactures of a week's schedule. Look,
New England's been great, Drake May has been impressive. You know,
different pieces in terms of this team have really put
together well. But you can't overlook the fact they've had
one of the weakest schedules in the NFL based on
what the record was last year. I just don't think

(18:11):
you can just push that to the wayside. Buffalo, Look,
they've got some questions defensively. I'm not a believer in them.
You know, Joe Burrow gifted them a couple of interceptions
last week, one of the worst throws that I've seen
in his career. But this team is dangerous and I
think Buffalo, with Josh Allen the way he's playing, they've
got a great opportunity to revenge spot here going on
the road. Usually not a fan of laying points and

(18:33):
usually love on your dogs in the NFL. But in
a revenge game, it's going to be tough for the
Patriots here in my opinion, and of.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
Course the irony of ironies, the Pats hope with the
season by losing to the Raiders. But you're right, they've
they've got. You know, they've played the New York giants
of the world, and you're right. It's the cumulative record
of their teams. Buffalo concerns me. They don't feel buttoned
up right now. They I'm not on this game, but
I would just say that said they unless Josh Allen

(19:02):
goes out and scores six touchdowns like you have to
see me Lee do every week, they don't win. And
they have no running game. It's Josh Allen. So it's
a weird game. But you bring up a lot of
excellent points. The Chargers visit the Chiefs. The Chargers are
missing two starting offensive tackles. That's huge. But even if

(19:23):
the Chiefs win, Oma imagine this, Even if the Chiefs win,
their percentage chances of making the playoffs for early nineteen percent.
I don't know how Kansas City moves the ball against
his top ten defense. But I'm not laying the points
either your thoughts.

Speaker 6 (19:41):
No, I tend to agree with you here. I think
this coulda be a much more defensive game. The one
problem is, you know, this total seems a little bit
high to me at forty two and a half because
I think Kansas City's defense has gone overlooked and how
effective they've been this year because the offense has been
inconsistent and the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
Have not performed well.

Speaker 6 (19:59):
But to me, what I when I look at this
team right now, defensively, they're still an elite level team.
You mentioned the tackle situation. We saw Philly get after
the Chargers last week, but they had what five or
six turnovers in that game, something ridiculous. I don't expect
to see a repeat performance of that. You can't rely
on something like that to happen week after week. So

(20:19):
for me in this matchup, I would look at the
under forty two and a half. I think, if you're
the Chiefs, how engaged are you? Yes, I know there's
a mathematical possibility to making the postseason. For Bernie. You've
got the Chargers and the Bills both at nine and four,
so that means you've got to win a minimum of
nine games. But the Texans are at eight and five,
but they've got their head to head against the Chiefs.
So now, in essence, everybody, you've got to get to

(20:41):
a minimum nine games. If you're Kansas City, I think
it's just a very difficult spot for them to be
able to win out and then hope so many things
fall properly for them to be able to win or
excuse me, to get into the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Yeah, I think you take it one week at a time.
As the cliche says, I don't think the Chiefs are
making the playoffs this year. But Sunday's game is kind
of an independent trial Herbert nursing the broken hand. If
you saw that offense, that hardball ran Monday night, and

(21:14):
yeah they won, okay, but my god, he looked like
it looked like both Schambcker in the seventies are running
quarterback draws and Reid option draws, and Herbert kept the ball.
He must have run the ball fifteen times. That's just
not sustainable. But it does lend itself to an under
I think.

Speaker 6 (21:31):
Yeah, I think, just real quickly. I think when you
look at this offense for the Chargers, I don't think
they're gonna have the same success they did on Monday Night.
They benefited from turnovers. I remember in the first drive,
I remember looking at half of them. They had one
hundred and sixty eight or one hundred and sixty nine
yards on thirty five plays. They had one play for
sixty yards. You take that away. They had about one

(21:51):
hundred and five I'm sorry, one hundred and six hundred
and seven yards on thirty four plays. This offense is
not that effective.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
No, they don't stretch the field at all. I mean
their their vertical passing game is non existent. I want
to jump to Monday Night because this game has notoriety.
Miami visits Pittsburgh. Don't look down, but the Dolphins have
actually won four games in a row. But somehow they're
only twenty seventh in passing, twenty sixth in points scored.
And the kicker for me for this game is when

(22:23):
the game the ball is in the air Monday night,
it's going to be ten degrees. Pittsburgh a short three
and a half point favorite. How does Tua and Miami
Dolphins handle the cold weather in Pittsburgh?

Speaker 6 (22:35):
Well, historically they've struggled, not just the Dolphins. Remember tua
I grew up in Honolulu. I think it's a road
challenge here. You know, we talked, I talked about the
Patriots schedule. Similar situation here. They beat Buffalo four weeks ago,
but then they beat the Commander's Saints and Jets, all
teams that are struggling, you know, just looking at second
string quarterbacks everywhere. So I'm not necessarily running to jump

(22:59):
on a two and seven minai team that's now sitting
at six and seventh. If you're in the Pittsburgh Steelers,
if the Bengals somehow can beat the Ravens tomorrow and
then you can win that game on Monday night, you
get yourself in a phenomenal situation. I don't know if
they mathematically win the division there. I think they wouldn't
win it because they're still three weeks left, but you know,
they put themselves in a great position. So if you're Pittsburgh,

(23:21):
this is a game you have to get. This Steelers
team is so hard to pick in terms of when
they're going to win week to week. They've been as
inconsistent as anybody. They have a terrible game at home
a couple of weeks ago, and then they go on
the road to Baltimore and just look like the far
superior team against the Ravens.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Absolutely true. We're talking with themal Shaw, our NFL Insider
comedy has covered the NFL for decades, including working alongside
Brent Musburger. Probably the one game that will draw the
most attention Sunday for obvious reasons, the Lions visit the Rams.
The Rams are currently the top seed in the NFC,
and for good reason, you're the only team the NFL

(24:00):
with a top five defense and a top five offense
or averaging twenty nine points a game. The Lions. My
Lions are very depleted on defense. Kruby jels us out
for the year. They're banged up in the secondary. You
know they've got to you head a running attack. But
it feels like the Lions may be in for one here.
But you know, I would never kind of them out.

(24:22):
I get another situation where I sure as hell don't
want to lay the five and a half points. I
think the back door can stay open or the Lions
could surprise them. What are your thoughts?

Speaker 6 (24:30):
Yeah, I tend to agree with everything you said there.
The injuries have absolutely crushed those Lions teams. I think offensively,
both teams should have success. Moving to football, rams should
have a little bit more success. But in the Dome,
I think it beares well for both sides here in
this one to be effective. Bernie, I have to tell you,
just you being from Michigan, out from the Cleveland area,

(24:52):
you know, neither of our teams have been to a
Super Bowl. I'm not a Browns fan anymore. I stopped
being a brown stand when they left to go to Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
I realized the NFL with.

Speaker 6 (24:58):
A complete business. But I just sit there and I'm
sorry to bring this up. I know it's been a
couple of years now, it still bothers me that Dan
Campbell did not kick the field goal in that third
quarter up in Santa Clara. And every time I think
about Dan Campbell, I'm like, does this guy have a
casino host, because I think he would hit on twenty
if he's playing blackjack.

Speaker 8 (25:19):
That is.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
It had been a point of sore contention. I've talked
to my Michigan cronies a thousand times. As you know,
that would have given the Lions a lead of three scores,
not just that scores, but three scores, and time was
on their side. As the third quarter was winding down,
Dan Campbell chose to live by the sword and die
by the sword. The narrative was that that's what got
the Lions there, But I've always believed decisions of that nature.

(25:43):
What do you want to call them, analytics or whatever.
They're a guideline, not an inflexible anchor. And they bit
the lions and it took us. Did you notice did
you notice Sunday Dan Campbell didn't go for it once
on fourth down? Not once. Now, we don't know what
he's going to do.

Speaker 6 (25:58):
You go ahead, I was gonna say, because they would
take an overwhelming risk the previously, that's about which game.
It was a couple of weeks prior. I was like,
these guys are going for it like we're not allowed
to punt the NFL, Like it's an illegal thing. I'm
telling you, I have so many friends of mine who
are better than in Vegas, and we talk about this
all the time. When you've got an opportunity early in
the game, take the three points, take the extra point,
don't go for an unnecessary two point conversion that you

(26:20):
don't make don't forego a forty seven yard field goal
that ninety percent of these kickers are going to drill.
Don't forego these points and opportunities that you have. And
Dan Campbell, you know, you summarize it perfectly in terms
of what he did there, and you know it was
just huge. And I think sometimes they get paralysis by
over analysis. But you know, the analytics people think I

(26:40):
do this in this here's my analogy on that, Bernie.
You know, there are certain risk when you take. When
you're a young person, you don't have a lot of money,
you can take certain risks. As you get older, and
let's say your net worth has increased, you can't take
those same risks. You might be able to, you know,
take certain gambles and if you lose that money, you're
willing to live with it, but you're not going to
sit there and gamble the same way when you're much older.

(27:03):
So I don't understand why they couldn't understand late in
the season play offs from the line and do the
same thing.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
Well I don't either, And the bottom line is there
is a risk reward factor to these decisions. And back
in January twenty twenty four, the reward was what you
move the chains and you keep the ball, but you
to put yourself up most likely three scorers. And I
know there are pundits that say there's no guarantee he
would have made the field goal one earlier in the game.

(27:30):
But look, that's all water under the bridge. Now. The
other thing I'm in agreement of because it did lions
pre and posts for ten years. There's an old saying
the first points in the NFL are the hardest. So
Ray Malavas used to say, I'll be damn if I
drive my field team ninety seven yards down the field,
run fourteen plays and have nothing to show for it.
So you may get pissed off at me first drive
the game where I kick a field goal from the

(27:51):
three yard line, But I want to put points on
the board. I don't want to have nothing, So the
first points are the hardest. Secondly, I don't know when
you have a chance to tie a game why people
don't go for it, because, well, you're not gonna win
with field goals. You gotta have touchdowns or you're not
gonna win getting zero points either. There was a prominent
coach five weeks ago that went for fourth down three
times instead of kicking three field goals who all for

(28:13):
three found himself at the end of the game almost
losing by a field goal because their kicker mister sixty
yard And I'm not going to out the coach because
I like him. So these teams have a tendency to
bite you, and you're chasing points later in the game. Finally,
late in the game, if you're down by three and
you have a chance to tie it, tie it. That
may not win the game, but let your defense go play.

(28:33):
So we're in complete agreement, which sort of leads me
to the next game, which is interesting because it's another
one of those situations where you've got a ten win
team at home who's an underdog. The Broncos won ten games,
right this year, they're a home dog. If they win,
they clinched the playoffs. The Packers. Interestingly enough, and this
doesn't really correlate to any great trend, there are only

(28:55):
one in seven all time in Denver, but is the
US is spot play as well. Green Bay coming off
very impressive back to back divisional wins against Chicago and Detroit.
And you know what green Bay has really ridden more
than anything is their defense. Your thoughts on this game
in Denver were green Bay's a short favorite against a

(29:17):
can win team at home?

Speaker 9 (29:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (29:19):
This Packers team, you know they're to me, Jordan mumpin,
big question mark I have with them. I like them defensively.
I love Josh Jacob. You know, if you've got to
go to lambeau Field in January and you've got that
battering Ram, you've got to tackle in the fourth quarter,
that is a tough order and tough task, and this
take the matchup. I like the way Boneck has played
this year. Obviously, Leason Dobbins was a big blow for

(29:41):
this team. Otherwise I would have probably made them the
favorite in the AFC to get to the Super Bowl.
I still think they're right there with anyone else that
people might like. This is a good football team. I
like their defense.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
You know.

Speaker 6 (29:53):
The big thing for me with Denvers, I think their
confidence has just grown throughout the course of the season.
The game against the Colts is one that they shouldn't
eve squandered. I like their chances here. I would look
at the home dog here in this figure spot instead
of taking Green Bay on the road. I just don't
trust Jordan Love completely and based on the way they
call plays in Green Bay. I think Matt Lafour doesn't

(30:15):
come out and say it. Obviously he can't, but I
don't think there's a complete trust in his quarterback at
times either.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
And Josh Jacobs has banged up his knee still bother
him and his backup Emmanuel Wilson is banged up. Of
all last one, I can't let you go without getting
your thoughts. Philip Rivers starting in Seattle. No one should
wish that on anybody. Seattle is brutal, or they're at home,
They're just I mean, they're the real deal. I actually
think they're gonna get the Rams in the rematch. But
the bottom line is your thoughts on that whole ordeal

(30:43):
with Philip Rivers starting Sunday at Seattle as a thirteen
and a half point dog.

Speaker 6 (30:49):
He's making this start for the first time in eighteen
hundred days, correct, so it's five plus years. And I'll
tell you something. It just seems like it's gonna be
too much to old would come in my opinion. You know,
this team has already gone downhill. We saw they've had
some issues. Now Jonathan Taylor's gonna have to run the
ball and carry the mail, but three out of these
last four games has been under one hundred yards. I

(31:10):
just don't know if he's gonna be able to get
it done. I think the way the Seahawks have played,
I'm not a fan of laying this type of number
in the NFL, but if you look at the Hawks
at home, they have destroyed some teams. I've absolutely just
taken people of the woodshed, and I wouldn't be surprised
off what happens in this game against the Colts. It
feels like in the season kind of went by the wayside.

(31:31):
And I'm not saying that the players are quit or
anything like that. I'm not suggesting they're implying that, but
it just feels like it's going to be tough to overcome.
They're coming on a three game losing streak, and then
the Seattle team is trending in the other direction, just
playing great football, having won three in a row. But
you look at Bernie their last two home two games,
they go down on the road, Atlanta beat them by
twenty they beat the Vikings by twenty six at home.

(31:54):
It's a team that's beating the Cardinals by twenty two
at home this year so beating weak teams, you've got
to get McDonald's team a ton of credits. They come
in there and they take care of business. And I
think this could be a big opportunity for the Seattle
offense against the Colts team defensively that at times has
not been great.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
All Trio Mall great stuff is always. They definitely want
to get you back when the NFL playoffs start in January.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, buddy, Thank you, buddy.

Speaker 6 (32:21):
Happy holidays to you and everybody out there.

All right back on the Bernie Friddle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
We are just thirteen minutes away from the min at hour.
At the top of the hour. From where I sit
here in Las Vegas, it is going to be twelve
midnight eight seven, seven, nine, nine, six, six three sixty nine.
But figuratively where you are, or where all of us are,

(34:23):
it's also the midnight hour, and you know what to do.
The callers have been phenomenal over the last two years
that we have done this. We have three topics tonight.
I'm looking forward, very much forward to hearing your thoughts.
Number one, I want to start with Notre Dame. You
heard me earlier. I think, in my view, the fact
that Notre Dame decided to back out of their bull

(34:45):
game with selfish. It was petty, with self loathing. This
is not becoming of the institution. I believe that is
Notre Dame. They played the victim and that's not going
to fly with me. Now, this isn't the first time
a team or a school has declined a ball game.
It's happened many times. Frankly, for some of those schools,

(35:05):
it's the best decision we've seen. Some rosters decimated after
coaching changes in the transfer portal, like LSU played with
just forty five scholarship players in the twenty one Texas Bowl.
That's not good. That's one example. Some teams can't field.
Some teams can't field rosters for the game. They can't
field teams. But Notre Dame isn't that. This is not

(35:28):
a team going through a coaching change like Kansas State
or Iowa stated. It's not a team that have miserable
fall just wants to end it. Notre Dame has won
ten games in a row. This is not a team
short on players due to the transfer portal. They were
all set to go to the pop Tarts pool. All right,
so you're gonna have scoring teams now that are motivated
to win ball games. Just say screw it. You. Compare

(35:48):
to twenty twenty three Florida State, that's the obvious one.
The Seminoles team truly snub by the committee just by
the thirteen old season. They fielded basically their JV team
against Georgia, got lost sixty three to three, but they
shore up okay. In twenty twenty two, when Alabama was
the first team out, the Crimson tied a bunch of
their top stars, including Bryce Young. They played the Sugar

(36:09):
Bowl beat Kansas State. Last year's Alabama team again the
first team out felt they were snub saw most of
their top players, including Jalen Milroe. They suit up and
played Michigan. You know where I'm going with this. You
may say burn it, you're full of crap. They can
do what they want their Notre Dame. What's wrong with you?
Or you could say I don't care, or you can say, well,
I kind of agree with you. So when you heard

(36:30):
Notre Dame was opting out because and you know why,
what were your thoughts? That's topic number one eight seven
seven nine nine six six re six nine Topic number two.
I had a chance to sample some out of state
radio the other day. Man, I heard the lackiest thing.
But tell me you wouldn't want to see this maybe
or maybe you wouldn't. Now, first of all, I'm talking

(36:51):
about the Cleveland Browns. Shoode or Sanders has shown some flashes.
He deserves more chances. He makes plays off schedule. I'm
not sold on him yet, but he's got my attention now.
Kevin Stefanski is a two time Coach of the Year.
If I'd never call for anybody's job on the show.
If they do let him go, they'll have a job
in five minutes. So this is an if, it's a

(37:11):
what if rumination. If Kevin Stefanski were to go this
one host oh I'm not going to name said I'd
like to see him hire Dean Sanders. Yeah, then maybe
trade one of those first round draft picks and get
Travis Hunter back and get the band together and he
starts your door? Would you want to see that? If

(37:34):
if Kevin Stefanski were to go bye bye if and again,
make no mistake, I don't care what you think about Stefanski.
And if you think there's some big conspiracy theory to
ruin Shador's life, dude, you got to get yourself a
cool compress, lie down with some warm milk and soft
music until it passes. They don't do that in the NFL.
Take whatever you think, whatever you want, go ahead. That

(37:57):
ain't happening. So who may be gone? I'm not saying
he is, or is it he might be if he goes?
Do you advocate Dion Sanders? Do I think it would happen? No?
But man, oh man, we root for the story here, okay.
We like to see new things in sports. And look,

(38:19):
you know I will tell you when Dion was open
to leaving Jackson State of few years back, I advocated
he go to USC. He had done at least what
Lincoln Riley's doing. I'm convinced of it. But what a
great story. He'd coached his son in the NFL and
guess what, there's nowhere to hide. They did the producer results,
or they wouldn't because you imagine what that might look like.

(38:39):
Would you be open to it? So topic number one,
Notre Dame, we're taking our ball and going home. I
don't think it's a good look. I think it's a
bad look. The point of playing football is to play football.
Business decisions and economics are part of it. I will
say this though, just because they thought they should have
got in and you heard them all shaw and make
their points, and I'll give you the points in the show. Well,

(39:00):
I think the committee rate made the right decision. Notre
Dame said, scret we're not playing in a bowl game.
I was shocked because I have a lot of respect
for the institution. But when you take your ball and
go home like that, played the victims self loathing. It's petty.
By the way. Ivan Mozielle, a long time respected college
football writer, had a book signing in South Bend. Notre
Dame canceled it because he was on the committee. We

(39:21):
don't even know who we voted for. They just said
you can't come. Are you kidding me? So? Number one,
Notre Dame, what were your thoughts when you heard Notre
Dame was opting out? Don't pull punches. Secondly, Dion Sanders,
if and it's an if, I don't call for anybody's job.
If Kevin Stevanski were to go bye bye and get

(39:41):
another job in five minutes, two time Coach of the
Year and he's not sabotaging sdor if you were to go,
would you be open to seeing Dion Sanders coach the
Cleveland Browns. I heard, you know a radio host in
another city bring that up and he kind of went
down the road and got down a rabbit hole. What
the hell, let's hear what the CA got to say?
You guys do a great job. The third thing, and

(40:03):
this is just a quickie. Philip Rivers is starting Sunday,
hasn't even been on an NFL roster in eighteen hundred days. Desperation,
you like it, you hate it? Again? Just what was
your knee jerk reaction? Notre Dame Deon Sanders, Philip Rivers
eight seven seven nine nine six six three sixty nine
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox the Midnight Hours. Here,

(40:26):
it's the callers that make this thing cook. From where
I sit, it's midnight, literally and figuratively. You get the
last word. You are listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show
up next the Midnight Hour and Fox Sports Radio. That's right,
you heard the man. The Bernie Fraddle Show is back,
and I want to remind you folks at every goal

(40:49):
starts with an assist, down and off the field. That's
why Haleyan and US Soccer are launching for the Assist,
a celebration of everyday acts of support that help people
achieve their goals with iconic brands like Censed Dine, Tom's,
Voltaire and Advil and Senndrome. To learn more, go to
Haley on assist dot com. Well, okay, we've got Notre Dame.

(41:12):
It sounded like Warner Wolter. Let's go to the videotape.
Very petty, selfish, self loathing move. The non fighting Irish
have taken their ball and gone home. They are opting
out of their bull game. Your thoughts. Secondly, Kevin Stefanski
may not be back next year. I don't call for
anybody's job. He's a two time NFL Coach of the Year.

(41:32):
He'll have a new job in five minutes if that happens.
But I heard some knucklehead in another city say, hire Dion.
Would you like to see that Dion pacing the sidelines
at your Cleveland Browns with Shudur at quarterback? What the hell?
Maybe even trade for Travis Center two? Get the band
back together. And finally, Philip Rivers starting after not being
on an NFL roster for eighteen minute days in Seattle

(41:54):
maybe the toughest place to start in the NFL. What
were your thoughts when you heard that time for the
midnight hour phone lines are packed. We're going to get
to all of you that really appreciate your thoughts. Please
be patient, and I appreciate your patience. We begin with

(42:15):
Christopher in London. Welcome back in Christopher, nos just a
Christopher that used to live in North Carolina and moved
to London.

Speaker 7 (42:22):
Yes, sure, that's why I was praying you were going
to be online this week. And I don't care what
my rolling charges costed. I desperately wanted to.

Speaker 1 (42:29):
Talk to well, I'm glad you heard of you, buddy.
It's at nine am in London and you're having the
English breakfast, then go ahead right by nine am.

Speaker 7 (42:37):
There, Yes I am, Yes, I am, and I'm having
my morning or Earl grade te choking down the fact
that the University of Michigan has now become a running joke.
You sat through the entire basketball drama in the eighties when.

Speaker 6 (42:54):
They cheated, that, they cheated again in the nineties, again in.

Speaker 11 (42:58):
The two thousand.

Speaker 7 (43:00):
We are cheated to the point where the university and
of itself is a running embarrassment. My hope is that
when you are able to finally release the facts of
what's really going on, something really happens, and I need
a new president that comes in being out the in
hire administry of the athletic department. Number two, the issue

(43:21):
that goes on for Notre Dame. What's also embarrassing and
look at it another way, Vernon. The other thing that
happens is when athletes decide, well, we're at a bowl game,
but it's not important for us to play because I
want to focus on my NFL career. Okay, what is
it do you want to be in college or do
you want to be in the NFL or do you
want to have now? Today we have the money from

(43:42):
the aisle giving you the ability to play for millions
of dollars even if you don't become a pro athlete.
Let's get something straightier. Are you representing college football or
aren't you? If you're not, shut up, because the point.

Speaker 9 (43:56):
Is, do you have to show the respect that the.

Speaker 6 (44:01):
Committees have done?

Speaker 7 (44:02):
It asked to be changed, it changed. They asked for
more teams.

Speaker 6 (44:07):
They've had a more teams.

Speaker 9 (44:08):
What do you want?

Speaker 7 (44:09):
You can't have it both ways. You can't have them
where athletes kittens dictates how they play the game. Secondly,
you can't have the university decide we're not going because
we don't know we've been treated. Excuse me, you keep
asking the committee to do something and they have it.
I'll stop here because I know you have a lot
of them.

Speaker 1 (44:26):
It calls stay for ten seconds. He just wants you
to know that the University of Michigan has commissioned a
law firm out of Chicago, their gener and Block, to
conduct a full investigation going back over the years on
the numerous quote unquote scandals. I'll call them have occurred,
how they've been handled, and it's going to be an
independent investigation. So I think the university's embarrassed. I actually

(44:49):
had lunch today with my good friend Larry Sorenson, ten
year major leaguer. He was in town for convention. He
was a graduate University of Michigan. He said, Bernie, I'm embarrassed.
So Christopher way to start us off tonight outstanding. Please
don't be a stranger, and I'll reveal more. I'm very
comfortable talking about it on the air. Some of the
other things I know about this whole ordeal. Steven Kansas

(45:12):
city man, no stranger to history onics and I see
that in a good way.

Speaker 9 (45:19):
Bernie.

Speaker 12 (45:20):
Yeah, I'm glad that Michigan went ahead with an internal
audience because I've heard there's lots of sports tickets floating around,
but allegedly the coaches were giving out for various things.
You know about Notre Dame long long, long term.

Speaker 13 (45:42):
This may be good.

Speaker 12 (45:44):
This may be good for college football because it's obvious
that Alabama was not the best team, that they're not
going to win the national championship. Texas could probably win,
the Vanderbilt could be competitive. There were numerous teams that

(46:05):
were excluded.

Speaker 1 (46:07):
If I may share with you, I know why the committee.
The committee decided they were not going to penalize a
team who got to the SEC championship game. They were
the number two team in the best conference this year.
They already had beaten Georgia and Georgia, and their strength
of record was four overall. Notre Dame was forty fourth.
Just interjecting that for you, Steve, go ahead, Oh yeah.

Speaker 12 (46:27):
My main point is I'm hoping we're going to get sixteen.
I hope because they're had Notre Dames right, because of
how bad everybody looks in this situation. You may ernie,
you may have the facts on your side, you're correct,
but all of this fails the I test. That's what
That's why this has become such a large controversy is

(46:50):
because people feel that Notre Dame could have won a championship,
that Texas could have won a championship. If we get
down to sixteen. You know, I don't think anyone's going
to be arguing who is the seventeen?

Speaker 1 (47:03):
What I think needs that happened? He's have sixteen just
for purposes of moving along. I think you need to
remove the conference championship games and replace him with playing games.
It would be easy to do. They'd be well watched,
and you could start with sixteen. And hey, if you've
got more than three losses or three, you're likely not
winning the national championship. If you've got three losses or

(47:24):
and then was forty fourth, I just I'll just.

Speaker 12 (47:27):
All the all the Notre Dame haters are not going
to be happy next year because their new provision is
that they're in the top twelve. They're going so we're
gonna eliminate these James. We're gonna eliminate these James Madisons
and and you know, these these guys that can't with
that have no chance of doing anything. We already saw
Ole Miss versus Tulsa earlier.

Speaker 11 (47:49):
To nine.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
Yeah, something like that. All right, So what are your
thoughts real quickly about Dion and then Philip Rivers?

Speaker 12 (47:56):
Oh I love Dion. I hope I hope Dion is
the coach of the Dallas out Boys. I hope I
hope he. This is what this is all about, him
getting a job in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (48:06):
Oh yeah, but I'm talking about I'm talking about the
the the super silliest comment radio hosts another city made.
If Stefanski goes bringing Dion to coach the Browns and
coaches Son, That's that's what I was wanting.

Speaker 6 (48:19):
That would the brown the Browns.

Speaker 12 (48:22):
The Browns would probably instantly go to one of the
top sales teams in the NFL by by memorabilia.

Speaker 9 (48:30):
I mean, I mean, it's a no brainer.

Speaker 12 (48:32):
I thought Jerry Jones would have done it by now
once once she fires the next coach. But I mean,
I think it's great. I love I love Dion, I
love I love everything about it. You know, I'm i'm
i'm I'm I'm all for it.

Speaker 1 (48:46):
What was what was the last time when you heard
he was starting today in Seattle? Just real quickly?

Speaker 12 (48:51):
You need your creation, Oh grand grandfather, grand grandpa rivers Well,
I literally sheerly hoped. I hope to the Yeah, he
is a grandpa, he's a I sincerely hope that his
linemen have eating their wheaties tomorrow and that we don't
have an injury.

Speaker 6 (49:09):
But I'll watch it.

Speaker 9 (49:10):
I love.

Speaker 12 (49:11):
I think, I think it's fantastic. I think guy think
that's that's also filed under the under the Dion category two.
I don't see anything bad about it. He's got ten kids,
he's got to feed his feed his kids and his grandkids.

Speaker 8 (49:24):
So let him.

Speaker 12 (49:25):
Let him put coach.

Speaker 2 (49:26):
I think he was coach at the high.

Speaker 12 (49:28):
School in Alabama before this. So let's let's see what
he can do. Let's see what he does when he's
right starts, So.

Speaker 1 (49:33):
You're not you're not that dismissive. Good Steve, good, good stuff,
appreciated as always a Steve Jim in Massachusetts in the
three hole tonight, welcome in Jim.

Speaker 2 (49:42):
Hey, uh, Notre Dame, that's an extremely bad look. They
should have went to the bowl game. You think all
those kids that aren't going to the pros and everything
like that could have gone and you know, played and
visited a different city and see sights like they all do.
I mean the university would have got money, you know
for going to the bowl game. I mean I would

(50:03):
have expected that from other colleges, not from Notre Dame.
They're supposed to be a class after they did in
that class. And disrespect hiring Dion in Cleveland absolutely because
it's all about money and selling tickets. Even if he
goes going sixteen people will line up.

Speaker 8 (50:22):
Just to go and see.

Speaker 2 (50:23):
And I don't think he'd do that bad in Cleveland.
There's nowhere in Cleveland but to go up, so you
know that would be a good thing. I hope he
has a halo over him because he is going to
get killed because I don't care how many passes he thrown,
what type of shape he's in, he is not in

(50:44):
the psyche to play, especially where it's playoff time, getting
to a playoff time, and he's been gone so long
and he's not going to be able to adjust to
the speed. I don't care how good he is or was,
he's not going to be able to adjust.

Speaker 8 (50:58):
At the speed of the game.

Speaker 2 (50:59):
The second third game of the season. Yeah, but this
late in the season where everybody's bounding the playoffs, everybody's
playing to keep their job for next year, right, lookout, lookout?
And my fourth thing just off off the off the charts.
New England's going nowhere nowhere. They'll lose their first playoff game.

(51:21):
I've been watching them. I'm not a New England's fan,
but I've been watching him. That quarterback isn't as good
as everybody thinks he is, and they played such a
cream puff schedule. They're gonna get HAMMD thanks, Bernie, go
get them.

Speaker 1 (51:34):
Appreciate you got an interesting test Sunday against Buffalo. Interestingly enough,
like I said, a ten win team as a home dog.
It's only happened seven times in the last five years.
And guess what those home dogs, they're only one in six. Spocks.
Weed from Oregon joins us. All right, my man, what
is your libation tonight?

Speaker 14 (51:56):
Well, it's a little chili here in the PNW, so
I've got a very nice sniffer of warm Remy Martin
Kognac going on right now?

Speaker 1 (52:08):
All right, keep it simple, very nice, all right? What
are your thoughts on these topics? Let's start with Notre Dame.

Speaker 14 (52:14):
All right, Notre Dame. As an irishman, I'm ashamed. I
figure if Notre Dame is going to refuse to play
in a bowl game that they are qualified for because
they're taking the ball and going home and being little pussy's,
they need to not be eligible for.

Speaker 3 (52:31):
The next five years.

Speaker 14 (52:33):
I think that they should respect the game of football
and respect the college, and they need they need.

Speaker 13 (52:41):
To have some come up in as far as I'm concerned.

Speaker 1 (52:45):
All right, I yes, I think they will suffer somewhat
image wise, but the people who like Notre Dame that
won't change, and the people who don't that won't change.
I just think this was an institution again that I
have a mental respect for. I have walked that campus
many times, been to many games in that stadium. But man,
they look petty and they look self loathing here, and

(53:06):
it's terrible. Look. Would you like to see Dion on
the sidelines of the Cleveland Browns?

Speaker 14 (53:11):
Oh god, yes, Oh, the spectacle would be just enormous.
I would switch my allegiance from Seattle to the Browns
and try to see if I could root for those people.
I'd buy the shador Sanders and the coach Sanders jerseys,
and I think he would probably do a terrible job.

Speaker 1 (53:28):
And all right, then finally Philip Rivers, real quick, I know,
we all know he hadn't played, he's forty four, he speeded.
Just what was your knee jerk reaction when you heard that?
They're not messing around. They signed him, worked him out.
You starting Sunday?

Speaker 11 (53:43):
They does he start, actually start, He's.

Speaker 1 (53:46):
Going to start that it's done, he's starting.

Speaker 14 (53:48):
Oh my gosh, Well, Philip Rivers, will he believes he
can do it, if he if he knows how howa
was played. He's done it for years.

Speaker 3 (53:57):
He thinks he can do it.

Speaker 13 (53:59):
I'm going to give the man, you know what I
think they're.

Speaker 1 (54:01):
Going to see, not to sound too dirty, a lot
of max protect formations, three steps for sure, two receiver sets,
get the ball out of his hands, which he can do,
and try to establish the rhythm and then get on
Jonathan Taylor's back. I don't know that it's going to
be a disaster alo that Seattle defense.

Speaker 14 (54:19):
That's defense they're mean with eights lockdown. Witherspoon is going
to eat him alive.

Speaker 1 (54:25):
And it's.

Speaker 14 (54:28):
But again the spectacle, you know what, my fantasy is
my fantasy. It's not going to happen. But I would
love to see Philip Rivers not necessarily beat Seattle. But
and if they do, you know I doubt it, but
to be able to get them into the playoffs and
have Pittsburgh not get in the playoffs and take that.
Aaron Rodgers, a forty four year old, came in from.

Speaker 1 (54:51):
Nowhere and got it in that irony, with that b irony.

Speaker 14 (54:56):
Yes, just like like the Spectacle with you, George Sanders
and Dion You know, Aaron Rodgers has been a spectacle
for for a long time. He's just trying to limp
along into into his deal. And of course.

Speaker 1 (55:10):
I didn't mean to catch it short there, which is
We've got spocks. Always appreciate you, Manuh, We've listen. We
got several guys on line, Greg and Texas, Martin and Orange,

Speaker 1 (56:03):
All right, we're back on the Bernie Fattle Show. Fox
Sports Radio. The Midnight Hour continues. We go out to
Texas for joined by Greg Greg, Thanks for your patience,
welcome back out a show, not.

Speaker 8 (56:14):
A problem, thanks for having me. Okay, no game. I'm
not a golden Domer homer, but I do believe I
agree with the assessment of taking the ball and going home.
I don't like it. It's a bad optic, you know.
What can you say? On the other hand, you got
to understand how does a team that was below you

(56:37):
last week in the rankings go around you when neither
team played.

Speaker 1 (56:43):
See there, hold that thought, my friend. And that's where
things get controversial. And this stupid Tuesday night TV show.
But these people put their heads together, make a rock pile,
make it up as they go along. There in lies
the problem. But they would have usurped that had they
beaten Miami on the field. But you make an excellent point.
I just kind of want to stay on topic and
that and we're going to discuss this in a later

(57:04):
show because the playoffs are just starting. I just want
to get the topic. But we got a respected institution
going through the self loathing petty you know, machination here.

Speaker 8 (57:14):
It's petty. Let's just drop it at that.

Speaker 13 (57:17):
It's petty, all right.

Speaker 1 (57:19):
What are your thoughts on Dion Sanders. Would you like
to see him Grayson the Brown sidelines? If again, if
the change.

Speaker 8 (57:27):
I love a good train wreck. I'm going to say
that weren't showing the coach at the college level. And
I think if he goes to Cleveland or any other team,
it's going to be like his initial episode at Colorado.
We'll have two games a bang and then it'd be
like whimper. So I'd like to see it. I don't

(57:48):
want it to happen, and I don't think it's going
to happen, but we'll go from there.

Speaker 1 (57:52):
But we'd all love to watch the theater. But you're
you're kind of like the third caller said this, this
wouldn't work, but we'd like to watch it. Right yep,
all right, finally real quickly without overthinking that your knee
jerk reaction when you heard Philip Rivers, who is not
only signed but it's starting Sunday.

Speaker 8 (58:13):
I like a good train wreck.

Speaker 1 (58:16):
That's two train recks, okay, all right?

Speaker 8 (58:18):
Oh no, I think they'll be He'll be very limited
in what he can do. I think you'll see a
lot of tailor carries. I just I just I think
he gives them better chance to win than anybody else
they have in that lineup.

Speaker 13 (58:33):
That's all.

Speaker 1 (58:35):
You're not wrong, you know what The reality answer is not.
I appreciate you, appreciated, Greg is always Martin and Orange
welcome back in. How are you, sir?

Speaker 9 (58:43):
Hey Bernie?

Speaker 15 (58:44):
How you doing?

Speaker 1 (58:45):
Good man?

Speaker 15 (58:47):
Notre Dame doesn't surprise me. What does surprise me? If
they know if this was next year, they'd be in automatically.
If this was two years from now, I think they
only gotta be a number sixteenth in the country and
they'd being automatically. So them crying and whining and playing
the victim when we know how the Catholic Church feels

(59:09):
about victims. I can't believe they would do something like this.
But honestly, I haven't had any faith in Notre Dame
since Joe Montana came out and told.

Speaker 1 (59:18):
Me Rudy with a fake story, good stuff, good stuff.

Speaker 15 (59:25):
The on Sanders. I just hope he doesn't do it
because I don't think he could do it. Let his
son go have his time in his spotlight. Let him
have his time, but don't go to the show that.

Speaker 1 (59:38):
Is the Browns.

Speaker 13 (59:40):
Please don't do that.

Speaker 15 (59:42):
And the last thought, Uncle Phil, Please, why are people
surprised he has this household of ten kids.

Speaker 3 (59:52):
It would be like golf.

Speaker 6 (59:54):
Oh yeah, I.

Speaker 15 (59:55):
Could professional golf, football, I can do that, demolition, derby distance,
whatever gets me out of the house.

Speaker 9 (01:00:02):
I'm doing it.

Speaker 15 (01:00:03):
Thank you for the time, Bernie, I love.

Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
You, appreciate it. Martin. Look, I don't know that Schulup
Rivers needs the money. What I would say is this, However,
he's like the only guy walking the planet that's worked
in Shane Stecken's offense. I mean, it's a hail Mary
to say the least, But what the hell stranger things
have happened. He saw Baker Mayfield signed midweek last couple

(01:00:27):
of years ago and walk onto the field and beat
the Raiders. Vince Evans used to walk off of BMW
sales car lot all the time and start for the Raiders.
So I digress Mike and Modesto. Bit a minute. How
you been, Mike? How are you?

Speaker 9 (01:00:41):
I'm good, Bernie. Under Dame, first of all, Texas was
the whole thing that got really screwed here. They'd have
beat they spiked Miami. They just spiked under Dame. Clearly
they were better, and they just told the SEC do
not play top cop teams out of conference schedule cupcakes,

(01:01:04):
and that's what the SEC is going to do. Now
every SEC coach just called Texas. I told just so,
you shouldn't have went to Ohio State, but you did.
Look what you want. That's what the committee said.

Speaker 15 (01:01:17):
Now.

Speaker 9 (01:01:17):
Second of all, another day, here's the problem. Not the
playoffs are here. The bowl games are worthless and everybody
noticed it. That's what another game said.

Speaker 1 (01:01:26):
Do you really feel that way? Do you really feel
that way?

Speaker 6 (01:01:29):
Yes?

Speaker 9 (01:01:30):
Yes, the ball games are worthless. There's a playoff. Now.
Who wants to play meaningless games when there's a playoff.
So I don't like Under Dame, but I can't blame
them or any other team that says.

Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
You know what, this doesn't mean anytime it's a.

Speaker 9 (01:01:46):
Playoffs or season's over.

Speaker 13 (01:01:49):
That's just I am.

Speaker 1 (01:01:51):
Yeah, it is that way. It is that way. But
if you heard my opening commentary, there have been other
schools in the past who've gotten snuff. Florida State a
couple of years ago when they lost their quarterback, but
at least they showed up and gave it an effort. Yeah,
I lost by sixty Bama a couple of years ago.
Even Bryce sh look Okay, you've heard my piece. You

(01:02:12):
got you got the last word here with Philip Rivers.

Speaker 9 (01:02:15):
Philip Rivers doesn't get hurt. You couldn't pick a worser
defense to stick him with.

Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
Oh horrible, that's so true.

Speaker 9 (01:02:22):
That's horrible. I just told you that he makes it
safely out of the game, and they really protect him
because the man hasn't been hitting five years.

Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
Well that's the concern. Yes, he may get the ball
out of his hands, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
But you're right, when the when the bullets are flying
and they're going one hundred miles an hour for his
head with bad intentions, that's when we're gonna find out
whether this is really a good idea or not. I
appreciate you making anything else you got for us time, Bernie.

(01:02:55):
All right, thanks Mike. Mike from Adesco Poppy in San Diego?
How are you, Poppy?

Speaker 11 (01:03:05):
Lookout Notre Dame. You know, I was thinking this, Bernie, like,
what would Rudy would do in a situation like this,
fruity Rudey like, you.

Speaker 14 (01:03:16):
Know, he would work it.

Speaker 11 (01:03:19):
He would work harding want to get in there, go
and playing this bull games whatever, seconds of his life
do the best time of his life. But I think
and he she is taling, controlling. I remember when they
had that contract. I mean that's what I think. Call
me crazy, Bernie, but stand and I love this Bernie.
I love sorg Stander's father, Regedion breaking news.

Speaker 8 (01:03:41):
It will happen.

Speaker 11 (01:03:42):
It's like Deon meant to be there. He's better than
Skansky or whatever, Dan Safansky, Right, Bernie like horrible, like
I many quarterbacks that he started sitting. I think it's
a setup for Dion to come in here and be
the coach.

Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
Yeah, well, listen. The only reason I introduced this wacky
topic was because I happened to be listening to some
out of town radio and the guy was doing a
nice job, and he just threw it out there and
he said, while you're at it, you might as well
trade the draft pick and get the Travis center back
and blah blah blah. Look, it ain't gonna happen. I
think we got a better chance of Gilligan zealin theme

(01:04:20):
song here recorded you know, by led Zeppelin and steal
a million copies. But well, i'd like to see it,
and you'd like to see it too. Right, you can't
tell me what I have to see it.

Speaker 11 (01:04:28):
Yeah, it would be.

Speaker 1 (01:04:30):
Do you think he'd start Dylan Gabriel over his son?
You think there's a of course, I'm kidding.

Speaker 6 (01:04:37):
So you're kiddy, you're a kiddy.

Speaker 9 (01:04:39):
Yeah, yeah, all right, Philip Rivers, Uh well, yes, I'm.

Speaker 11 (01:04:43):
Excited about this. Look Rivers san Diego. Here, people in
San Diego are loving it. He was over here in
Nicole and look here's my predictions. Burn, I'm gonna have
some crazy predictions that's gonna happen. Look, it's a double
double whammy for Rivers. He's gonna go on there, pop
back guys anytime touch on Philip.

Speaker 9 (01:05:00):
Ever, and who's he gonna throw it to?

Speaker 11 (01:05:01):
To think day trouble over here san Diego, got that
up Rookie Warren anytimes out he's gonna give think that
this Antonio Gates. He's gonna throw a warn he's gonna
get a Touchdown's gonna get a touch stuff and a
doubles psychle. He's gonna do good. He's gonna get that
potential man.

Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
All right, Poppy, i'd be curious to think. Appreciate your enthusiasm.
As always, I appreciate look, I'd be curious, uh if
anybody started uh his playoffs. I be curious if anybody
starting Philip Rivers on their fantasy team this week, I
would say, uh new probably Hell no, Uh, Tyler and Hartford,

(01:05:38):
thanks for hanging on, my man. You're up next on
the Bernie Frattle Show.

Speaker 6 (01:05:42):
Hey, how you doing? Great show? Thanks for having me.
Notre Dame.

Speaker 16 (01:05:47):
It all starts with the A D.

Speaker 6 (01:05:49):
He went on his little uh tirade on All your Guys' show.

Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
And go ahead.

Speaker 6 (01:05:56):
He kind of gave a bad taste in people's mouth.
But they were ranked ahead of Miami, but Miami beat them.
So really it's the committee's fault for everything.

Speaker 13 (01:06:07):
That's true.

Speaker 1 (01:06:08):
Not a disagreement there. They led Notre Dame to believe
based on the rankings they were in. That's a very
valid point. All I'm asking is, though, when Notre Dame
found this out an institution I respect, I've walked that CAMPU.
It's been in many games. To do this to me,
there serves no fruitful purpose. I don't give it damn
what anybody says. Continue on, Tyler, you know you're right.

Speaker 6 (01:06:29):
They're acting like babies, right, no doubt, And to to
punk out of their bowl game. That is a little
it's a little baby ish. But in this day and age,
it's not it's not as bad as it used to be. Right,
it doesn't feel as bad as it used Well.

Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
Look if wes Vimijie State did it, Okay, nothing against them,
big fans, sort of. It's Notre Dame. Notre Dame is
the pinnacle of college football for multiple reasons. You think
Rockney would have done this, No, sure would kick By's what.

Speaker 6 (01:07:01):
You're absolutely right, But I don't think there would have
been a Pop Tart Bowl during his time, right, but.

Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
Yeah, they weren't invented yet. Yeah, they weren't invented yet yet. Good,
good point.

Speaker 6 (01:07:10):
It gives it a cheesy feeling there, you go, enough
about enough about Notre Dame. They're they're just they're getting
they get too much play regardless, So onto Dion beyond
coaching the Browns would be good for two people. It
would be good for Shade or obviously well maybe I
don't know if your door would even want him as
a coach, because awkward. It would be so awkward though, right, like,

(01:07:33):
oh my god, that yeah, but that was in the college.
This is pros it's different, but yeah, I'm sure he okay,
But then it would be it would be good for
the media because you guys would just have never ending
stories at all. But besides that, it would be an
absolute nightmare for the Browns franchise. I can't see anyone
in the Browns organization or any Browns fans.

Speaker 1 (01:07:54):
Off all right, Philip Rivers on Sunday, what was your
need to Philip Rivers.

Speaker 6 (01:08:01):
I think I'm the only one who actually thinks Philip
Rivers might actually play well today. Because when you take
a step back from something and then you do it again,
you have like a new perspective on it. You could
like see it in a different a different light.

Speaker 11 (01:08:15):
Now.

Speaker 6 (01:08:15):
I granted it's football is a little bit different, but
I feel like he's gonna play well just for this game,
like I don't know about the rest of the season.
And also another another thing no one's really talking about
is I know how this sets back his Hall of
Fame trance to get in another five years, but it
also sets back his medical benefits for the NFL.

Speaker 1 (01:08:35):
Right now, you get no, I don't think so. I
don't think so. I'll have to look that up. You
bring up a couple of interesting points. They actually he
renews his medical benefits since he signed, he acts to
his days of service. But you bring up a good point.
But he's got he's got money, so I don't know
that that's an issue. Yeah, it's either way.

Speaker 6 (01:08:54):
He'll be fine. But he does that ten kids, so
that he does, he does, he does.

Speaker 12 (01:09:01):
Thanks for the show.

Speaker 6 (01:09:01):
Keep up nice work. Thank you very much.

Speaker 1 (01:09:03):
Thanks Tyler. Hey Rick down in Louisiana. How have you
been my friend?

Speaker 13 (01:09:08):
Hey, I'm doing well. How about yourself? Well, thank you, sir,
thank you, thanks for taking a call. First one, as
far as know their dame is concerned, I think they
need two bills, one an a ACC bill and an
SEC b if they questioned why they didn't get in.

(01:09:28):
I just think that they need to put some ACC.
They need to join the ACC, which I've heard that
this week that they're not in football. And I also
think they should play some SEC teams. I think that'll
separate some things from Yeah, yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 1 (01:09:47):
I'm gonna address them not joining a conversator continue on Rick.

Speaker 13 (01:09:51):
Okay. Secondly, as far as beyond, I think that it
would make a good story and initially but his first.

Speaker 3 (01:10:02):
Day on the job.

Speaker 13 (01:10:04):
Hey, how you doing, Deyon? I'm Deshaun Watson, and that
that contract isn't going anywhere. So his intention to coach
your son is that was the case, that that opportunity
present it ship, Deshaun Watson isn't going anywhere.

Speaker 1 (01:10:24):
It's it's just whimsical radio fun we're having here tonight.
I mean, it's a it's a one in a thousand, right,
I just but if people would like to see it. Look,
stranger things have happened. I can't name them right now,
but I know they have. So anyway, what are your
thoughts Rick on now? What you know? What was your
knee jerk reaction when you heard that Philip Rivers was

(01:10:45):
not only signed practicing but starting Sunday?

Speaker 13 (01:10:50):
Well, I hope, I hope it goes well for you know,
I think that the way the NFL is set up,
it protects the quarterbacks. Now, but steal, we'll know once
you take.

Speaker 1 (01:11:03):
That first hit and that's that's it, baby, that's it
right there, Rick.

Speaker 13 (01:11:08):
We don't want to see a comeback for next week,
so that'll be interesting to see. So that's all I ask.

Speaker 1 (01:11:15):
Joy your weekend, Rick, appreciate you. Let's get one more
in here, John and Maine. Welcome into the Bernie Frowder Show.

Speaker 3 (01:11:20):
How are you, hey, Bernie, great show tonight, Thank you.
I'll keep it short and sweet.

Speaker 1 (01:11:28):
Notre dame.

Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
I think whoever made that decision to not go to
the Bowl game should get fired because believe.

Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
It was their adther bvaqua.

Speaker 3 (01:11:40):
But go ahead, Okay, he's gone because it's like, look
out for the players, not you know, and the organization,
not yourself, just because you gotta bend out of shape
because you didn't like the way things went.

Speaker 1 (01:11:56):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (01:11:57):
I don't agree with the way things wind either, but hey,
it is what it is.

Speaker 8 (01:12:02):
Definitely.

Speaker 14 (01:12:03):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:12:04):
The which was the second subject.

Speaker 1 (01:12:09):
Dion Sanders. I heard, I heard out of town. Ready, Yes,
he coached the Browns. Next you would like to see that?

Speaker 3 (01:12:17):
Not really? Well sure, I mean Cleveland's been a circus
for many years anyway, so might as well add one
more clown to the show, I guess. And as far
as Philip Rivers, all I can say is I can
pretty much guarantee that the opposing defense when Philip Rivers

(01:12:37):
is on the field, you are not going to hear
the announcers saying the defense has two deep safeties.

Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
Okay, all right, good stuff John eight seven seven six

(01:14:16):

everyday acts of support that helped people achieve their goals

(01:14:41):
just so everybody, knows it's been well publicized That Notre
dame's decision to skip the bull game Was it's being
reported as a full team consensus. Decision all, right, gee
do you think they led the witness a? Bit? Though
when THE ad called the election process a? Farce do

(01:15:03):
you think it would have considered it to be a
farce same? Process If Notre dame would have gotten IN
i don't. KNOW i guess these are things will never. Know,
yes it's been reported the decision originated with the. Players
that's been. Reported they felt their season deserved better than
a mid tier bowl game like The Pop Tarts bowl
after missing the twelve team. Committee and they said it

(01:15:25):
was a whole team. Decision the reason they made a
decision because it wouldn't be a good representation yadi, YadA
yah blah blah, blah fortune cookie wisdom and course ad
P povakuan and the staff to support of the player's.
Decision who's in charge? Here the players don't run the,
team you, know damn, well they don't run the. Team,
YES i get. It it. Hurts The irish were left

(01:15:46):
out of the, playoff losing a potential spot to Teams
alabama And. Miami AND i said last, week at this,
time one of the three is getting. OUT i, SAID
i thought Both Notre dame And miami would get. In
That i've never seen a three loss team get. In
And i've never seen a team who lost head to
head to a team highly ranked had the team that

(01:16:10):
lost get in and the team who won left. Out
SO i Believe miami was. In BUT i also thought
Both Notre dame And miami would be In, Well alabama's
strength to record was forty. Fourth did you know? That?
Yeah and, oh by the, way check That. Alabama i'm confusing.
Myself alabama's strength to record was. Fourth Notre dames was forty.

(01:16:36):
FOURTH i, mean if you really want to dive into, This,
okay The College Football Playoff committee's written, guidelines they do
it this, way strength to, schedule head to, head and
comparative outcomes of common. Opponents so let's compare, them all.
Right miamis strength to schedule was forty. Fourth Notre dames
is forty. Fifth pretty. Comparable both of them played four common.

(01:16:58):
Opponents both Were oh that's. Comparable, Now miami actually had
a better margin of victory against those common, opponents more
Than Notre dame and three to. Four the committee does
not have that as part of their. Criteria But i'm
just throwing it out. There but the biggest thing that
the committee has always, said and who, knows, LISTEN i

(01:17:19):
know it's not it's an embarrassing. Process i'm not arguing that,
point but, hell Beat miami on the field When i'm
having this. Conversation, sorry but the bottom line is the
head to head, Again miami has that Over Notre. Dame
nothing no they can do about. That their pissed off,

(01:17:39):
WITHNESS i know that's not a, word should have nothing
to do with the committee's actual. Decision Is it's Clear
miami was going to get the not Over Notre, dame
and the idea of there is this conspiracy Of miami
Over Notre dame because of conference affiliation is. LAUGHABLE i
don't Blame Notre dame for wanting to be in a.
CONFERENCE i lived In Big ten country for seventeen, years
covered The Michigan wolverines for. Fourteen Notre dame stubbed The

(01:18:01):
Big ten in the. FIFTIES i don't blame. Them that's they're.
Right they snubbed him again right before nineteen ninety. Four
they are an, independent highly. Reputable they create their own,
schedule usually a pretty tough, one and they like the
fact that they know they can dictate their own terms
as it. Were, again had they just beaten Either TEXAS

(01:18:22):
a and m and Or miami and had one, loss
preferably Over, miami well they would have got. In they played,
Okay so now let's Compare Alabama Notre. Dame see the
committee has a written. Protocol when you compare similar teams like,
that head to head doesn't, apply but outcome of common
opponents doesn't. Apply so what's left strength to? SCHEDULE i

(01:18:44):
want to go back to. It alabama's strength to schedule,
Fifth Notre dame's forty. Fifth so the committee in this
case ironically followed its official protocol when you had those
three similar. TEAMS i Understand Notre dame is. Upset they
felt that the committee's mid season rankings led them to
believe they were. In that's. True this is where the problem.

(01:19:06):
Lies you got to have this, wacky whack JOB tv
show Every tuesday. Night why we don't need it, anymore
or if you going to have, it make it more,
credible because, it in retrospect wasn't. Credible the, committee not the,
committee but the WEEKLY tv show Led Notre dame to

(01:19:31):
believe they were. In but the committee ironically ended up
following their own, protocol even though their protocol, stinks and
all this stuff was supposed to be decided on the.
Field but, ironically you have even more subjectivity now that
you let twelve teams in than before when you only
had four, teams or when you had only two teams

(01:19:51):
in so, LOOK i understand it was allegedly a collective
decision by the players backed by, Leader but who the
hell's in charge? Here let's show? Up what do you,
hey guys want to? Practiciate you want to go jump
in the? Pool, no come, on it's a leadership. ISSUE
i Like Notre, DAME i Respect Notre. DAME i don't

(01:20:12):
like what they did, here And i'm not changing my.
Mind not the first time at school has declined the bull.
Game we've seen it, before when the rosters are, decimated et.
Cetera that's not the case. Here coming, up we switch.
Gears we go to THE, NBA a Little Medina. Magic
keep it. Locked you listen To Bernie Frattle show On

(01:20:39):

line for The Fox Sports radio compound here In Las.
Vegas takeat to three And pacific six Am. Eastern it

Week he's Our Fox Sports RADIO nba. Guru it's that.
Time Mark, Medina Medina magic Are Fox Sports RADIO Nba, Guru,

(01:21:10):
mark it IS Nba cup. Time are you fired? Up?

Speaker 16 (01:21:14):
Buddy of COURSE i presume you are as. WELL i,
mean we don't get the same incentive of five hundred
thousand dollars these. Player does that win?

Speaker 3 (01:21:23):
It But i've been loving the.

Speaker 6 (01:21:25):
Competition, well you, know there's an irony.

Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
HERE i feel like there's less buzz this year in
the three years that they've had THE Nba. Cup but
it's from the reports i'm, reading it's very lucrative and
it's here to. Stay And i'm glad you mentioned the
five hundred and thirty thousand per man because that's exactly

(01:21:49):
what The lakers left on the table the other night
Without Victor webbinyama right their twenty seventh ranked, defense well
now they've lost three out of. Five their bench got outs.
Eighteen The spurs put on a clinic by attacking The lakers'.
Weaknesses AND i don't want to list them all BECAUSE
i want you to do the. Talking BUT i had

(01:22:10):
several takeaways from that. Game did you have Any?

Speaker 16 (01:22:13):
OH i had a.

Speaker 13 (01:22:14):
Lot you.

Speaker 16 (01:22:15):
Know the caveat is The spurs are a respectable team
even Without victor Wan. Baniyama they went nine to three
during his, absence and this is a team that is
on the. Rise they have a good blend of veteran
Players Tiaron, Fox Harrison barnes with some good young talent
And Dylan harper And Stefan. Castle but that caveat. ASIDE

(01:22:35):
i think what showed with The lakers is that they're
a very, very very very very bad defensive, team and
they exposed that at the beginning of the. Season it
didn't matter as much because they Have Luka, Doncic Austin
reeves playing like An All. Star they have so much offensive,
firepower but at some point you got to make defensive,

(01:22:55):
stops and when you're making so many costly, turnovers it's
really tough to get back on transition.

Speaker 13 (01:23:01):
Defense so that game was.

Speaker 16 (01:23:03):
So bad for that part that JJ. E riddick's eve
been talking, about you, know making wholesale lineup and rotation
changes and even entertaining the idea That Jared voonnerbilt will
finally get some play after getting a handful of d,
MPs because he, concluded you know, what his bad three
points shooting and four spacing just isn't worth, it even
if he's a good defensive.

Speaker 1 (01:23:23):
Player you covered a lot of good ground. There look The,
Lakers frank The luke scattershot on? Defense did The spurs
shot forty five percent behind the, arc but when they
weren't shooting three as their dribble penetration, was it looked
like they were playing A jv team they. Had as a,
result they had thirteen more free. Throws but let me
tell you my biggest. Takeaway The spurs had twenty seven

(01:23:45):
fast break points and BY Jj redick's own, admission, cool
they ran rough shot over The lakers in. Transition that's
a problem because The lakers looked old and The spurs looked.

Speaker 16 (01:23:55):
Young yeah and. YEAH i was talking to Gave vincent
the a few days ago actually before The spurs, game
and he's had his, own you, know challenges with being
a role player and Having Hotter colt shooting units coming
off an. Injury but the one key point that he
was making is something that several in The lakers organization
have been making as, well that they need to be

(01:24:17):
a more, physical physically defensive, team And Marcus smart has
done a really good job with. That but there's been
a few problems. HERE a he missed significant time because
of some. Injuries be he's only one, player and see
he isn't in the starting. LINEUP i think, that you,
know he's been a game changer when he's coming off the.
Bench but you, KNOW i THINK jj reddick evaluation of

(01:24:42):
going with so much offensive at fire, POWER i get.
It at the same, time it's kind of backfired on
him these last few, games SO i want to be
surprised it's Like Marcus smart is back in the starting
lineup pretty, soon because again he's really the only player
as well as K caveens And break in a lot
of consistent physicality on. Defense but you, know they need

(01:25:04):
to have much more defensive presence than just two good role.

Speaker 8 (01:25:08):
Players AND i have to eat.

Speaker 1 (01:25:12):
THIS i said at the beginning of the season a
couple of weeks, before AND i thought The lakers will
go forty to and. Forty SO i can't back off of.
That AND i can't Eat crow yet BECAUSE i think
they're going to flame out in the. Playoffs some of
these teams look better to.

Speaker 3 (01:25:25):
Me.

Speaker 1 (01:25:26):
Now one quick last thing about The. Lakers they Visit
phoenix later on, tonight try to avenge a seventeen point
loss at. HOME i was at a one Off luke
or the fact that The lakers have lost three to.
Five you, know it's only one, game but you start
to stack these things. Up do you think they're in
trouble In?

Speaker 3 (01:25:42):
Phoenix, Annay, No, no this isn't a one Off.

Speaker 16 (01:25:45):
Fluke The Phoenix suns are the real. DEAL i, Mean Devin,
booker we've known he's a great two Way All star caliber.
Player But Dylan brooks is going to get up for
The lakers because he always does Against Lebron. James he's
been not only bringing To Dylan brooks familiar style of
trash talking and these events of, intensity but he's been
a lot more of a consistent. Score Colin jenness Jill

(01:26:07):
espie has been light out three point shooting. Shooter and you,
know The lakers might fault themselves for leaving them open a,
lot BUT i, know you, know talking to people with The,
suns talking With, colin he's someone that really does a
good job with playing off Of Devin, booker playing on
and off the, ball and he has a very consistent

(01:26:28):
shooting routine that you, know his early season success is
not just lighting a.

Speaker 8 (01:26:34):
Bottle this is.

Speaker 16 (01:26:35):
Sustainable so you, know as far as The suns, go
where they, meet where they are in The Western, conference
you know there's seventh right. NOW i don't see them
as a. Contender but as far as short term or
are they dangerous to The? Lakers the yes in all capital.

Speaker 1 (01:26:52):
Letters now you analyze that. Perfectly and they actually have some.
DEPTH i believe they've got like eight players averaging double.
Digits so this is not a bad basketball. Team AND
i don't know that The lakers have the depth they
think they. Want LIKE i, said their benches on score
by eighteen the other night In San antonio And wenby

(01:27:12):
did even play so point duly. Noted how about Those
New York. Knicks all of a, sudden they're certainly making
me stand up and take. NOTICE i, think you, know
you don't want to project too far ahead their number
two position in The, east but they've won nine to,
ten and they're rounding into shape with their new, coach
and they're almost impossible to beat at. Home The east

(01:27:34):
isn't quite as bad as we. Thought boston's acquitted, themselves,
Well Sol's, Philadelphia, Orlando, toronto of, course you know The
pistons In. Cleveland your thoughts on how much of a
threat Did nicks are to actually get to THE Nba
finals this.

Speaker 16 (01:27:46):
Year, oh The knicks are legitimates for. THREAT i, mean
we have to keep in mind they got to The
Eastern conference finals last year and they ran to a
buzzsall with The Indiana. Pacers And Tom thibodeau is a
good head, coach But Mike brown's all still very good head.
Coach and they have their core. INTACT i, Mean Jalen.
Brunson there's a reason why he was GETTING mvp chants

(01:28:07):
tonight In vegas because he dropped forty points even though he's.
Undersize he's very good at koreating his, Shot korean, separation
playing through double. Teams his chemistry With Carol Anthony, towns,
yeah has taken up another. Notch and they just have
continuity across the.

Speaker 2 (01:28:23):
Board you, know they Have.

Speaker 3 (01:28:26):
Karl Anthony.

Speaker 16 (01:28:26):
Towns there's a lot of questions about can he consistently
stay out of foul? Trouble what about him on? Defense
but his offense is great and he's not worried about individual,
touches so he can he can carry a team, offensively
but he can gladly coexist well At Jalen. Brunson but
they also have all these critical supporting cast players Mckel
bridges being that wing, Defender ognon And obi kind of

(01:28:49):
being a do it all two way, Player Josh, hart spark,
Plug Jordan. Clarkson you, know he might have deficiencies, defensively
but he is great on, offense instant offense whenever he
gets off the gets off the bench. Here so they
have a really good nucleus and it is early AND

(01:29:09):
i hate to SAY Nba Cup finals games have playoff
implications because the two winners so, far The lakers in
twenty twenty. Three you, know in The bucks last year
they all lost in the first. Round but you, know
they have a good thing. Going and because of some
of the question marks with some of the Other Eastern
conference teams With, milwaukee, Yeah boston's not a, doormap but

(01:29:33):
they're not. Contender In, indiana it's really wide open for
them to take.

Speaker 1 (01:29:38):
It they're averaging one hundred and twenty one points a,
game which is best in The, east and as a
matter of, fact Only Oklahoma city And denver in the
ENTIRE nba are averaging. More he played little defense. Too
to your point About Karl Anthony, Towns he's averaging twenty
two and twelve with double, Double SO i think they're
they're for. Real twenty five games into the, season they're

(01:29:58):
over twenty five percent of the. Season you kind of
know what you, have AND i think The knicks have
really really shown me a.

Speaker 16 (01:30:04):
Lot, yeah and this has a lot of credit to
do with the fact that they have good. Talent they
have all Two all starcler players And Bronston kat they have.
Connuity But Mike brown's a really good head, coach AND
i think what we've, seen, frankly ever since he joined
The Sacramento kings is he's evolved as a coach a
lot of times he was doing earlier in his career

(01:30:25):
as a defensive mastermind but offensive playbook very. Limited he's
been a lot more, innovative and he's always about ever
since joining The kings and overseeing that, team he wants
their offense to play at a fast. Pace he doesn't
want this to be applouting half court movement and you're
not able to create a lot of easy baskets that.

(01:30:46):
Way so his calling cards, defense and they have the
grittiness and some personnel on the team to make that.
Happen but once they get, stops it's all about gain
on the open floor and trying to be as efficient
as possible.

Speaker 1 (01:30:59):
There Talking Mark, medina OUR nba, Guru Fox Sports radio
and essentially sports All. RIGHT i tossed this out there last.
Week Could Anthony davis be? TRADED i think it's picked
up quite a, steam but a steam in just a.
Week it's being reported now there are a couple three
four teams that have raised their, hand including The Detroit,

(01:31:23):
pistons who have interest In Anthony. Davis do you Think
Anthony davis is more likely to be traded yes or
no in the next thirty days or ninety?

Speaker 16 (01:31:33):
Days, YEAH i think the simple Answers it depends on
what The mavericks record. Is if they still have a
shot at sneaking in the playoffs even through the, PLAN
i don't think that they blow it. Up if they,
do THEN i think that they're going to start over
for square one and just try to build Around cooper.
Flag and right now ten to sixteen record is not,

(01:31:55):
good but they've won two in a. Row they've kind
of turned a corner relatively, speaking and they're tenth in The.
West and what does that mean right? Now, hey they
still have a shot to make it through the. PLAN
i think the other, thing even Though i've heard from
some folks around the league that they do Think Anthony
davis ultimately gets, traded they're also on a depressed trade

(01:32:15):
market with him because of his injury, history and they
know that there's a feeling That dallas are going to be.
Sellers and it's the same idea when you're having a garage,
sale you usually don't get a big mudge of. Profit
it's about just getting rid of all the parts. Here
so IF i had to, GUESS i hear the scuttle,

(01:32:36):
bud BUT i think that he actually winds up stained
at least this, season only because mathematically, speaking they might
be on the outside looking, in but they're not going
to be quite bad enough by the trade deadline that
they're In New Orleans pelicans territory, Here SO i think
he stays for the rest of the season and then

(01:32:56):
all bets are off this upcoming. Summer here's one.

Speaker 1 (01:32:59):
Thing we haven't broached. Though On august, Sixth Anthony davis
is eligible to sign a four, year two hundred and
seventy five million dollar, extension which means at the right
page of thirty, seven you'd be paying him seventy six
million dollars per. Season so it's it's really a high
stakes poker game here because you don't wish injuries on.

(01:33:21):
Anybody but if passes, Prologue Anthony davis gets, Injured so
god forbid he gets. Injured The mavericks wait until the,
summer but that lowers his trade value quite a bit
if he has another, Injury so maybe you just get
out a doctor for the trade, deadline see what you
can get. Back or If davis declines his sixty two
million dollar player, option then he becomes an unrestricted free

(01:33:42):
agent the following. Year, anyway so his TIME i think
had shortened downas anyway he slanks.

Speaker 16 (01:33:46):
It, YEAH i think the way that you outline, This,
bernie is that The mavericks are having to be in
a position to choose the best of bad. Options, yes
and so that's very. Precarious If I'm Anthony, davis knowing
the injury, HISTORY i do the player, option take the
money because it buys you another, year BECAUSE i don't

(01:34:06):
think that he's going to make that kind of money
moving forward because he's no longer on The. Lakers he
has hasn't shown a consistent track record being able to
carry a team, here but you, know all bets are.
OFF i think the other thing again we have to
keep in mind is even if practically speaking with you
outline is, True, yeah how about The MAVs trade just

(01:34:29):
to get ahead of the curve. Here they're at a
depressed market as, well this upcoming trade deadline. Again so
the other thing THAT i think that they might have
some mental gymnastics over is just this idea that, hey
if they still have a shot and make it through
the plan tournament or the, playoffs it's hard for them to,
say you know, what let's start all over again less

(01:34:51):
than a year after you, know Trading luca. Doctics so
they're in a serious issue right. NOW a lot of
me that they created themselves and now they have to
somehow coin it. Up but it requires a lot of
tough and honestly bad choices they have to make moving.

Speaker 1 (01:35:10):
Forward so we appered up with a quote from the
legend known As Angel, reese who recently said on a
podcast that quote the in THE wnba players track won't
last long because fans would realize just how dull life
is without. Them what else are they going to? Do
if we don't play and of, course, yeah, well let's

(01:35:31):
look at the. Reality they just they meaning the union
and the management or the ownership, group just extended the
deadline From november, thirtieth which is already extended once Until january. Ninth,
okay players are asking for a lot increased salaries, revenue

(01:35:51):
and it's been characterized by the executive, committee Including Kelsey
plumb that so, far quote the the negotiations have been
disheartening and frustrating and the lack of. Progress what do
you think is going to happen? Here let's put on
our prediction. Cap does it still Past january? Ninth and if? So?

(01:36:12):
Uh could could there be a?

Speaker 16 (01:36:14):
WORKSTOPIC i don't think it gets passed Through january. Nineteen
NOW i did laugh at your you, know Relaying Angel
reese's comment on what are fans going to? Do, well
it's W nba seasons in the spring of the. SUMMER
i think there's a lot of things people can. Do
BUT i will validate, that you, know there is a strong.

(01:36:34):
Interest when you look at the, financials the viewership in
women's basketball a lot better than it was. Before that's
not to say it's on par with THE NFL, Nba
Major League. Baseball but there is a market for. It
and given, that even though you know both sides have
reasonable thoughts on what's equitable fair from a business, STANDPOINT

(01:36:56):
i don't think either side is going to allow. Us
he gets the point that there's a work, stoppage because
then you're dealing with out of, sight out of, mind
losing the momentum of all this interest that has finally
happened to the league after you for a, while since its,
exception it was considered an, afterthought and SO i don't
think that they want to squander all. That so it's

(01:37:18):
easy to negotiate right now when there's no actual, consequences
and they do enough time before an actual. DEADLINE i
don't think it gets pass That january N it's, deadline,
though all, right we'll.

Speaker 1 (01:37:28):
SEE i think there's a lot of obstinacy among the players'
union and a delusion BECAUSE i think a lot's been.
Offered they're talking about salary's as ceiling being like one
point two million what for forty, games and really they
lost leg money for thirty. Years i'm not arguing with,
You i'm just wondering what would be the impetus behind

(01:37:52):
that deadline being. MET i don't think the owners are
going to cave and the player's going to. Cave and
maybe that's not the proper. Word is there perhaps a
happy Media maybe if you looked at the.

Speaker 16 (01:38:00):
Mechanics, YEAH i think that there is a happy medium
here because that number is certainly higher than that we
used to be. Before you, know some of the top
of league players were barely making six, figures which you,
know it's good, money but compared to other professional, leagues
it's far from. That BUT i think you have to

(01:38:21):
look at the total revenue. Here that's the key. Here
how much money is the league? Making AND i think
it was always a fair conversation we had in the
previous era of you, know when they were being subsidized
by THE, Nba, okay these teams actually making a profit or.
Not now they are making a, profit most notably because

(01:38:42):
they negotiate these NEW tv rights. Deals and SO i
think with that it is understandable for the players to
all of a sudden, say you know, what like we've
seen growth in the, league we got to make sure
that proportionally the pie is being distributed the way it should.
Be so that's what we have to keep been lyned
here when you're keep in mind, here when you're listening

(01:39:03):
to rhetoric from both ownership in the league and the players,
union it's about the percentages of the. Revenue it's not
about what seems like a decent number on the ownership
side or the player. Side but you, know when it
comes to, that a lot of that is a gray.
Area because these are privately held, leagues you don't quite
know what the actual numbers. Are but given all, that,

(01:39:27):
AGAIN i don't think that either side is going to
allow it to the point that they lose any all
of it or partial to this season because they know
the value of momentum and the attention economy that we're.

Speaker 1 (01:39:40):
In that's that's perfect deductive. Reasoning and we'll see if
cooler has. Prevailed So, mark good. Stuff as, always we
will see what the media news cycle brings us before
Next saturday at Midnight. Pacific thanks so.

Speaker 6 (01:39:53):
Much appreciate, you.

Speaker 1 (01:39:54):
Sir that is thank.

Speaker 4 (01:39:56):
You.

Speaker 1 (01:39:56):
Mark There's Mark, Medina medina magic Our Fox Sports, radio

Radio we're back at The Bernie Friddle show Of Fox Sports.
Radio come to your live for the For Fox Sports
radio studies here In Las. Vegas just a couple of,
minutes we're gonna get to The Fantasy. Files it's playoff.
Time expectations for, everybody Right, well the future has a
way of arriving ahead of. Schedule when it comes to,

(01:41:18):
expectations just as The Kansas City, chiefs they were expecting
a fourth Straight Super bowl, appearance nothing less. Reality after
losing it home To houston twenty to ten last, Week
chiefs are now six to. Seven that's reality no one.
Expected per the, simulator they have about a fifteen percent

(01:41:39):
chance to make the. PLAYOFFS i don't think they're going
to do. It how about the expectations for The colts?
Preseason minimal hope is not a. Strategy then you skyrocket
after a seven to one start With Daniel jones under,
center Super bowl, talk even a massive contract For. Jones,
reality The colts have now lost three or. Four they're

(01:42:01):
likely to miss the postseason. Entirely Poor Daniel jones out
for the season after An achilles'. Injury they lose to
The jaguars thirty six to nineteen last, week and if he's,
done As James boyd, Wrote indy probably is. Two remember
when this team traded two first round picks For Soft
gardner at the trade? Deadline oh my, goodness they had.
Expectations could you blame? Him how about The, ravens The,

(01:42:24):
commanders The, Buccaneers, falcons all of them expected to make
the Postseason, Baltimore washington In Tampa. Bay they had realistic
dreams of making perhaps the conference. Championship the reality all
four on the. Out The commanders are three and. Ten
The falcons are four and. Nine they're long. Gone they
both lost in devastating fashion last. Week falcons rebounded crazily

(01:42:46):
against those Very. Buccaneers now The buccaneers are now seven and.
Seven look they've been upset by. This The, ravens forget.
It i'm not buying them. Either they're six and. Seven
we shall. See but speaking of other types of. Expertsations
by the, way a little bit, later about twenty minutes from,
now fifteen minutes from, now there was always talk about
A chiefs. Dynasty just Ask Nick wright that chief. Dynasty i'm,

(01:43:11):
sorry it's now. DEAD i dressed my eyes and tell
me a lot in The, Eagles my, god they look
like they could be a team on the verge of a.
Dynasty i'm pretty sure that dynasty never really got off
the ground. Work with, Me i'll make my case coming.
Up but it's time. Now get your pens and pencils.
Ready you'll be drinking through a fire. Hose we've got
eight hours in thirty. Minutes you better get your lineups in.

(01:43:33):
Playoff the first round of The Fantasy LEAGUE Nfl fantasy
playoffs start this, weekend has already, started Actually thursday. Night
it's time for The Fantasy.

Speaker 10 (01:43:43):
Files Fantasy files With Brandon, deutsch your go to fantasy football.

Speaker 1 (01:43:50):
Segment are you one?

Speaker 17 (01:43:51):
Going?

Speaker 1 (01:43:52):
When what is? Up?

Speaker 18 (01:43:54):
Everybody I'm Brandon deutsch on The Bernie Fritto, Show and
it is a pivotal, Week Like bernie, said the quarterfinals
for most leagues and semi finals for other, leagues depending
on you, know if you have two week matchups or. Whatnot,
obviously hopefully nobody is playing in week eight you, know week,
eighteen because players will. Sit but let's get into the

(01:44:15):
pivotal sit start. Suggestions And i'm going to start with
one THAT i think maybe obvious for some people that
have been very into fantasy football this, year but maybe
people are surprised by, This But Wandale robinson is a
lock and start Against washington's twenty ninth ranked pass defense
two hundred and forty six point nine yards per game

(01:44:35):
they give up against the. Pass Wandale robinson's actually top
fifteen in receiving yards this. Season somebody's got to catch those.
PASSES i do Believe wandale has one of his best
games all the, year and he just missed my top twelve.
Rankings Michael wilson's another GUY i, like but he has
a brutal. Matchup Michael wilson looks Like Jerry. Rice When
Marvin Harrison junior's, Out it's like, ridiculous how much how

(01:44:58):
Many fantasy points He but he's going up Against houston's
third ranked. DEFENSE i still trust him Because Marvin Harrison
junior is out, AGAIN i would go with the usage
and the volume over. Everything volume is, king and you
just know That Michael, wilson even against The houston defense
that is, elite is going to get ten to fifteen.
Targets we're gonna stay with receivers Here z Eight flowers

(01:45:20):
is a really great start this week against the thirty
first Ranked Cincinnati bengals pass. DEFENSE i, Mean Lamar, jackson
if he doesn't have a good game in this, Game
i've lost hope For Lamar. Jackson he must be, injured
you but go on to next. SEASON i actually Think
cincinnati wins this. Game that might shock people that doesn't really.
Matter BUT i do think That Jay flowers can still

(01:45:40):
have a pretty big game even if they, lose because
if they're, down they're just gonna throw the football more,
anyways AND i do expect The bengals to come out
Gunning tedroe McMillan's another lock in start this. Week New
orleans does have a really good pass, defense, though LIKE
i feel like they're kind of disrespected six against the,
pass only one hundred and eighty two point six yards
given up per, game and a, Reminder tedro McMillan did
not even reach fifteen fantasy points the last time he

(01:46:03):
played The.

Speaker 19 (01:46:04):
Saints AND i still Like Bryce.

Speaker 18 (01:46:06):
YOUNG i still Like terroo McMillan against The saints to
have a big bounce back. Performance and we're gonna stay
on receivers just a few more here before we get
into running. BACKS i like Courtland ston against Green. Bay
Green bay has a good pass, defense but Cortland sun
has proven the last few Weeks bonix and himf got
their connection back. Together The Troy franklin five week period is.

(01:46:27):
Over he hasn't gotten targets in. Weeks pat bryanskins some.
Snaps i'd be more worried About Jordan love in this
game Than, bonix and that's crazy to, say But denver's
defense is so. Elite i'm very worried about playing Any packers,
receivers which is WHY i Think Romeo dobbs is a.
SIT i Think Christian watson's a, sit especially With jayden.
Reidback those are two sits in that game. Specifically, now

(01:46:51):
let's go To Philip rivers with some sits. Here clear,
Look Michael bimman is a sit in Al pearce's sit
UNTIL i see it with my own. Eyes Philip rivers
dominating in AN nfl game against an elite. Defense i'm
not starting, anybody but they might get some garbage stats
Because indianapolis should be down the entire. Game let's go
to running backs, now because running backs has been the

(01:47:11):
position THAT i feel like there's only been fifteen that
have been really good all, year and then the rest
is our dart. THROWS i would Sit Josh shakups if he.
Plays listen this, question, well he's going up Against. Denver
that sounds crazy to sit a player as good As Josh,
shakops but he. Is his production is contingent upon. Touchdowns
i don't think he gets it against an Elite denver.

Speaker 19 (01:47:31):
Defense Like i've.

Speaker 18 (01:47:31):
Mentioned, BEFORE i actually Think Ashton genty is going to
have a very good. Game this sounds crazy trust In
Ashton genty in that fantasy playoffs with your season on the,
line but people don't know. This philadelphia's feared defense actually
gives up one hundred and thirty two rushing yards per,
game which is twenty six in The National Football. LEAGUE

(01:47:51):
i think even if they're down in this, game they
will still Use Ashton, genty AND i don't think they're
actually going to be as blown out as. PEOPLE i
think this is a closer game than anybody will give.
Credit i'm not Saying i'm super confident With dash AND genti,
start But i'm confident enough WHERE i would start him
with my season on the.

Speaker 19 (01:48:09):
Line. Obviously Trevion henderson Versus. BUFFALO. R.

Speaker 18 (01:48:12):
J harvey Versus Green bay not particularly easy matchups either of,
them but they're both volume, kings so you're gonna start.
Them Quin Schewn judkins going up Against, chicago you're also
going to. Start one of my favorite starts of the
week again Is Devin. NEIL i said start them last.
Week he had fifteen fantasy. Points i'd be shocked if
he doesn't get twenty Against. Carolina carolina is much better

(01:48:33):
pass defense than they do run, defense And Devin neil
actually is a good pass catcher, Too so even if
they did have a bad, defense LIKE i said last
week Against, tampa he still was able to catch a pass.

Speaker 19 (01:48:43):
Or two and do some things.

Speaker 18 (01:48:44):
There, finally Quin Shawn judkins against The Chicago. Bears love
what he can bring this week against the defense by the,
Way chicago another defense that's been, praised but twenty seventh
against the, run SO i would make sure to sit
to start. Him that is gonna be a game that's super. Borant,
anyways let's all win our. Matchups I'm Brandon deutsch on

(01:49:05):
The Bernie Fratto. Show you can find me AT Bsd
takes On twitter or Ex, rather you can find me
At brandon At stowage on TikTok And. Instagram let's all
win our. MATCHUPS i think it's. Time it's the most
pivotal week of the.

Speaker 19 (01:49:17):
Year let's do, It.

Speaker 1 (01:49:18):
Bernie So brandon my son has a buy this, week
but he also Has Michael, wilson who's actually paid some
dividends Since Marvin harrison doesn't look like he's gonna Play.
SUNDAY i agree with. You wilson's gonna get targets and
he deserves. Them interesting, though they're At arizona's At atlanta next, week,
okay indoors perfect, conditions or maybe they're home one of the,

(01:49:41):
regardless the game's gonna be played. Indoors do you Expect
Marvin harrison back next? Week and if, so how much
is that going to Affect Michael wilson's targets because he's
earned the right he can.

Speaker 19 (01:49:52):
Play, yeah it's, Wild, Bernie i'm telling you right.

Speaker 18 (01:49:55):
Now, Look Marvin Harrison junior is obviously gonna take away
some targets From Michael wilson if he plays next. Week first, off,
though the rapport That Jacoby brissett And Michael wilson have
right now is. Incredible you can't really teach, that and
you can't really Knock Michael wilson for the production Because
Marvin Harrison junior hasn't even done half of What Michael

(01:50:16):
wilson's done at all so far in his. Career That
Michael wilson's done in six, weeks, Right, atlanta it's a weird. Concept,
right they have a top ten pass, defense so it's
not an easy matchup next. Week If Marvin harrison, PLAYS
i would still Play Michael, wilson THOUGH i.

Speaker 1 (01:50:33):
Would My son's actually got both. Guys would you consider starting? Both?

Speaker 18 (01:50:36):
YES i, LOOK i think there's been some strategies like,
that like people have Started Ken walker And Zach Sharbonnell
yeah this, year and that's worked for.

Speaker 19 (01:50:45):
People, well they.

Speaker 1 (01:50:46):
Don't have a running game to speak of It, arizo
so they're going to air it out forty. Times and
what Did Jacoby weresett throw sixty times a couple of
weeks ago our a few weeks he's had AN nfl.

Speaker 19 (01:50:55):
Record, yeah against against My. Niners that was. Unfortunate it
was a.

Speaker 1 (01:50:59):
Good niners are good. Team so one last, thing just
out of, CURIOSITY i THINK i Like Ashton. GENT i
think The raiders drafted him too. High Kenny pickett's under
center for The, Raiders, sony how might that affect The Ashin?
Genty if at?

Speaker 18 (01:51:13):
ALL i think that benefits. HIM i, think you, Know
Kenny pickett is a more limited quarterback Than Gino. Smith
they're going to try to at least establish the run
in the first. Half we know that for. SURE i
do think this game is. CLOSE i don't think it's
a blowout by any. Means everybody's Like philly by like.
Twenty i'm, like what are we talking. About we've not
Seen philly play football the last four. Weeks, LIKE i
think this is a close. GAME i wouldn't be shocked

(01:51:35):
if The raiders win this.

Speaker 1 (01:51:36):
Game, BERNIE i know The lakers are checked For, lakers my,
goodness The raiders are a trendy. Play there's no way
in Hell i'm laying at. Twelve it's very difficult to
back The raiders for all the self inflicted, moods, penalties blown.
Assignments they're going to turn the ball over at least
twice because it's in their. Contract i'm concerned this could
be a contrarion get right game For. Philly but youver

(01:52:00):
know that's WHY i don't back The. Raiders But i'm not.
Laying i'm not laying. Twelve you could be, right you
could be. RIGHT i know it's a popular fourteen parlay
here In. Vegas four double digit teams lay them, all,
right who's? Losing is any losing The seattle? Nol, right
you get the. Picture but someone somebody always loses in
one of those and the butt better goes home. Unhappy

(01:52:22):
so we'll. See could could be The? Raiders all? Right
it is played good. Stuff we will see what. Happens
this is the crunch. Time the, quarterfinals semi finals next
week in week, fifteen and in the finals in week.
Sixteen and we're all. Following this is a big. Deal
fantasy football is a big. Deal, guys take it really.
Serious it's a lot of. Fun all. Right so coming,

(01:52:45):
UP i teased this a minute. Ago i'm going to
talk about why The chiefs dynasty is dead and if
you thought The eagles maybe had a dynasty, Brewing i'm
gonna pour cold water on that as. Well I'm Berdie
fraddle come to your line From Las. Vegas Fox Sports.
Radio student is keep it locked To.

Speaker 5 (01:53:01):
Bernie don't listening To Fox Sports.

Speaker 1 (01:53:04):
Radio Right we're back at The Bernie Foutles, Show Fox Sports.
Radio come you live from The Fox Sworts radio studios
here In Las. Vegas we'll take you up to three Am,
pacific six Am. Eastern you, know every goal starts with

(01:53:28):
an assist on and off the. Field that's Why Haley
on AND Us soccer they're launching for The, assist the
celebration of everyday access support that help people achieve their
goals with iconic brands Like, Censed, Dine thomas Voltairean, adville And.
Centrum to learn, more go To haley on assist dot. Com,

(01:53:51):
well for folks who wanted to believe or believe that
The chiefs perhaps were on their way to a, dynasty
or The eagles perhaps they were on their way to a,
dynasty you've had the rug pulled out from under your
feet a little, bit and you know most of us

(01:54:13):
WELL i don't know if most of us were or,
weren't BUT i certainly know whenever The chiefs are ON,
tv it's pretty much must, watch, Right so let's assume
that last week's game between The Kansas City chiefs And
Houston texans was heavily watched and as the fourth quarter rolled.

(01:54:36):
Around early in the fourth, quarter even though The chiefs,
trailed they were back. Home this was. It you couldn't
afford to lose this. Game The chiefs were going to
find a way to pull out this. Win you thought.
IT i thought. IT i bet Even houston fans thought.
It and part of the reason Is Kansas city couldn't
have played any. Worse it was a brutal first, half

(01:54:58):
and they somehow recovered the tide of the game up,
ten and the defense was doing their. Job they were
carrying the. Freight they were STIFLING. Cj Strouden. Company you've
seen this movie many. Times just Give patrickholmes the ball
one last. Possession he'll scramble, around do what he has to,

(01:55:19):
do and he'll make an off schedule play that continues to.
Defy perhaps he would roll, right evade somebody throw the
ball To Travis. Kelcey he'd find some, space they'd extend the,
drive move the, chains and The chiefs would take the
ball down the, field and people would wait for the,
inevitable and The chiefs would, win and rumors of their

(01:55:39):
demise would be on hold for at least one more.
Week but a funny thing happened on the way to the.
Forum The chiefs pissed the game. Away Why Andy reid
called that fourth down call in his own, territory handing
The texans field position that would already allow them to
be in field goal range is beyond.

Speaker 14 (01:55:59):
Me it was a.

Speaker 1 (01:56:01):
Gift punt. Deep let your defense do the. Job they'd Stifled.
Houston houston was completely energized by this. Decision after stopping The,
chiefs they quickly score a touchdown that turned the game completely,
over and you could see the air come out Of Chiefs. Nation,
Suddenly Kansas city and their back of magic all of

(01:56:24):
a sudden looked like they had run out of magic.
Potion no more Backbreaking, mahomes crazy, plays scrambling for a first,
Down Travis kelcey making a clutch catch over the middle
of eighting, Tacklers No Andy reid magic to figure out
some play no one's seen before from somebody you never heard.
Of The chiefs never scored. Again now they're six and,

(01:56:47):
seven they're teering on their, breakup playoff, elimination the. Eulogies
they're back and play The. Chiefs their dynasty is. Over
it just. Is the next, night it was The Philadelphia
eagles team who completely trucked The chiefs in The Super
bowl Last. February they were embarrassed on PRIMETIME tv in

(01:57:10):
front Of god and. Everybody here's what's interesting That chargers offensive,
line who already is missing two tackles and is a mass,
unit And Justin, herbert who was playing with one hand
the other one's broken in The Los Angeles. Chargers The
eagles looked like they were running in mud all night.
Long their offense, again they were. Stifled they did it to,

(01:57:32):
themselves and give The chargers a lot of, credit they were.
Opportunistic then all of a, sudden all of a, sudden
there was this long touchdown run From Saquon, barkley which
was just what the doctor. Ordered but it wasn't. Enough jalen,
hurts WHO i will defend till the. Death if you

(01:57:52):
look at the man's history Bench dunn ceremoniously for two
a tongue below When alabama won the national championship seven years,
ago took it like a, man even came back and
even won a game the following, year ends up transferring To,
oklahoma refines his, skills gets to THE. Nfl why people

(01:58:13):
continue to doubt this? Man bothers. Me he's won Two Super.
Bowls it's just it's. Incredible but he threw his fourth
interception of the. Night you heard, that, right fourth that
sealed the. Loss The eagles are now eight and. Five
THE Nfc east is so pitiful that eight and five
is not. Terrible and they had a non daunting a
schedule ahead of. Them so The eagles still have a

(01:58:36):
good shot in the. Playoffs but you can't feel great
about where The eagles stand right. Now and it's never
a good sign when you're hearing people shouting from the.
Rooftops bring Back Senator Jason, kelce who's over exposed ON
tv all the. Time he might as well put on
a helmet, again that's not a good. Look so both
of last Seasons Super bowl participants had fallen from grace.

(01:58:58):
Rapidly they're both stuck in the. Malaise even should The
eagles make the, playoffs they, might they probably. Will in,
reality what do you expect them to? DO i can't
say you can expect much from that team in the,
playoffs all, Right chiefs are in bigger Trouble, Broncos, Patriots.

(01:59:20):
Jaguars the degree of the collapse is still what's the
most striking. Them maybe time just caught up and the
odds caught up with The. Chiefs The philadelphia, situation, frankly
is a little bit more unexpected to be considering how
strong they roll to That Super bowl win last. Year drafted,
well but they're sharp decline in the ability to run the.
Ball he's made this offense really, limited really. Limited he

(01:59:42):
doesn't throw to the middle of the field. Much jalen
hurts and defenders guard the boundaries because their running game is.
Collapsed it's, weird all. Right The eagles might make the,
playoffs AND i don't think The chiefs. Will but, REGARDLESS
i think The chiefs, dynasty frankly is over and The chiefs,
well if you had designs on An eagles dynasty, dynasty

(02:00:05):
it may have fallen out before it ever had time to.
Materialize coming, up we talk lots MORE. Nfl keep it
locked To Bernie Fraddle show On Fox Sports. Radio, yep that's,
right you heard the. Man The Bernie Fraddles show keeps
rolling right. Along my name Is Bernie. Fraddleworck come to

(02:00:26):
your line from The Fox Sports radio. STUDIOS i want
to remind the folks every goal starts with an assist
on and off the. Field that's Why Haley on AND
Us soccer are launching for The, assist the celebration of
everyday acts of support that help people achieve their goals
with iconic brands like cens Of, Dine, Thumbs Voltairean, advil And.
Centrum to learn, more go To haley unassist Dot. Com,

(02:00:52):
well we're to the point of the. Season. NOW i
know guys like to give power ratings every. WEEK i,
don't but we are now Into. December they always remember
what you did In. December so when you get to
this point in the season and there are only four
regular season games, left power rankings meet a lot because
you've run a little bit of a gaunt that maybe

(02:01:12):
you've had some, injuries and maybe you've had some bad
games and good. Games but at the end of the,
day these numbers don't really lie and they give you an.
Indicator so when The rams kick it off against The
Detroit lions here and about eleven, hours about eleven, hours
they are the number one power ranked team in The

(02:01:33):
National Football. League. NOW i know they were concerned About
Matthew stafford's back problem in training, camp but that might
be the only thing that can stop this. Offense Although
matt's always capable of turning Into Detroit Matt stafford LIKE
i did a few weeks, ago but not, likely but
you can't rule it. Out but Since week, ten give

(02:01:55):
it up to The. Rams they lead the league with
thirty four points per game and they're the only team
in The National Football league that are ranks in the
top five defensively and, offensively and they're, actually going back
To week, one they're averaging twenty nine points a. Game
the number two part ranked, team believe it or, not
The New England. Patriots last week they were number. One
they were on a buy now The, patriots to be,

(02:02:18):
fair and we talked about this With Lamal shaw in
the first. Hour they've only beaten three teams with the winning,
record and only one such, team The bills this, week
left on their. Schedule is the only team The patriots
have left on their schedule that have a winning. Record
and by the, way we talked about this earlier in

(02:02:39):
the show as. Well The, patriots even though they've won
north of ten, games they find themselves as a home.
Underdog that's only happened seven times in the last five.
Years but those home underdogs were one and six against the.
Spread so let's see what. Happens Drake may is a
LEGITIMATE mvp. Candidate in an earlier caller thought he was,

(02:03:01):
overrated but he made his. Case we'll. SEE i like
What i've, seen but part of his maybe part of his,
rationale he, Said Drake may's only faced one top ten
defense based on expected points at it according To Drew.
Media so we'll see what happens the number three. TEAM
i love this The Seattle Seahawks sam donald redemption is

(02:03:23):
good for the. Soul coach McDonald and donald getting it.
Done they smoked The falcons last week thirty seven and.
Nine they got The colts later. Today you just hope
That Sam donald doesn't have another swoon like he had
in the playoffs last. Year wouldn't bet out, it wouldn't
bet on. It he's done extremely. Well he's surviving and he's,

(02:03:47):
flourishing and he did have an interception Last, sunday he
did have three. Touchdowns And seattle Plays they play legit complimentary,
football and you know what that. Means the defense gets
the ball, back makes a, punt they go down to score,
points and the defense gets the ball, back wash, repeat.

(02:04:10):
Rents The Denver broncos give it up to you know
that whole. Organization they're eleven and. Two they beat The
raiders twenty four to seventeen last. WEEK i know The
broncos were seven and a half point favorites And vegas
kicked a forty four yard field goal or to time,

(02:04:33):
Expired but what does it matter at the end of the.
Year they don't Ask, kyle just how MANY i? Know
there are a lot Of bronco. Doubters they are the other.
Team we have two of them this. Week it's an oddity,
again only seven times in five, years and in those five,
years the THOUSAND nfl games are played seven. TIMES a
team that is a a you, know has won ten,

(02:04:53):
games is an underdog at, home and The broncos are
the other team against The. Packers this is a game we'll.
Watch notably The, packers they are the fifth, ranked ranked
fifth in power rings as it, Were they were fifth
last week as. Well they beat The bears in a
good playoff you, know kind of a regular season feel

(02:05:16):
for a playoff, game as it, were, right and they
say love is, kind love is. Patient Jordan love was
also great in the big moment Last, sunday through for
three touchdowns one, pick but led a key game winning
fourth quarter touchdown. Drive his last two playoff games included
five interceptions and two, losses But packer fans are hopeful

(02:05:38):
that he can prove it in the playoffs this. Year for,
now The packers are power ranked. Fifth If gordon If
Jordan love can do what he's capable, of green based
And Super bowl. CONTENDER i WAS i was brought to,
that you, know opinion kicking and, screaming but it's undeniable

(02:05:59):
now AND i think My parsons has done an excellent
job in energizing that. Defense the number six, team and
people might argue with, This, yes The Buffalo. Bills they're
nine and four to. Beat The bengals put up almost
forty points last. Week this is The bills last season
In Highmark. STADIUM i still call it Rich stadium for sentimental.

(02:06:20):
Reasons the new stadium is like this, beautiful palatial new
building right next. Door but there was something amazingly beautiful
About buffalo and it's kind of a bandbox with. Building it's,
older it's got a lot of. Memories it housed the
team that went to four Straight Super. Bowls do with
that what you. WILL i think it's an amazing. Achievement Last,

(02:06:41):
Sunday Josh allen became the first PLAYER nfl history with
at least one rushing touchdown and one passing touchdown in fifty.
Games by the, way in the second half alone last,
Week Josh allen accounted for two hundred and thirty five
yards and three touchdowns in a game where snow was coming.
Down if you submitted that script as A hollywood, movie

(02:07:02):
they'd kick you. Out that's the kicker. Here they're at The,
patriots The Bills atlanta's short. Number it just seems, like
Unless Josh allen does something herculean every week The bills don't.
Win sunday is going to prove to be an interesting.
Premer the forty nine. Ers never count them. Out my,

(02:07:25):
god they lost just about everybody on. Defense of course
they didn't do that, Right but you Lose Fred, warner
you Lose. Bulls, look they're like the energizer. Bunny maybe
that's a bad, reference you know What i'm talking. About,
though they don't go away. There nine to. Four they
had a bye last. Week If christian McCaffrey stays, healthy
The niners are going to be an extremely tough. Out

(02:07:48):
McCaffrey is on pace to become the FIRST nfl player
ever with two seasons of a thousand rushing yards and
a thousand passing. Yards but it's not coming. Easy they're
really overworking. Him he leads the league in touch with
three hundred and twenty Two he's caught eighty five balls
and rush the ball two hundred and thirty seven. Times
now he's only averaging three point six yards to. CARRY

(02:08:09):
i get, it but it's a you, know it's a
grooing offense that has its way of wearing you. Down
the question is will McCaffrey be too worn down down
the stretch to be as effective as they're going to
need him to. Be they face The titans at Home. Sunday,

(02:08:29):
look The titans are A National Football league. Team hey,
Man they managed to beat shit Or sanders last, week
so The titans got something going all. Right BUT i.
Digress The Detroit lyons are eight and. Five they are
the eight rank power. Team but it's just the injury
bug is just hit him, again and Now kirby chose
us out for the. YEAR i don't know IF i

(02:08:51):
believe these goofy, analytics but right now the trade is
a thirty nine percent chance of making the playoffs after
they Beat. Dallas but it's still staring in a playoff,
game not at home if they do make, It so
pick your poison Picture. Detroit they have to go to Either,
philadelphia Maybe, Chicago Green, bay Or. Seattle, Now Jared goff

(02:09:18):
has improved quite a, bit but when the temperature is
below fifty degrees and An't Jared, Goff he's not the.
Same he's not the. Same The lions would serve them
well to beat The rams later this afternoon In Los,
angeles but they're so banked up on. Defense it's just
really a tough. Deal but, look it's The National Football.
League expect the. Unexpected let's see what. Happens The lions

(02:09:41):
still have a phenomenal two headed running back and a GOOD.
Dna they're just depleted. Defensively that's a Fat. Now somebody
asked me earlier this, WEEK i FORGET i was WHERE
i was at the car wash or. Something it might
have been my. Handyman believe The Houston texans could actually

(02:10:02):
get to the conference championship. GAME i DO i? Do
with that? Defense they're eight and. Five they're the ninth
rank power. Team they're moving. Up they've gone eight and
two since starting out zero to. Three To texas lead
the league in scoring. Defense they're only a lying fifteen
points per, game their fourth in scoring. Margin they're plus eighty.

(02:10:23):
Eight they are playoff. Bound they went Into Kansas city
and punched The, chiefs and The chiefs tried to punch
back and they. Couldn't, Okay and here's what's. Interesting you
wonder WHY i think The Houston texans could actually not
predicting the R But i'm telling you they're very alive

(02:10:44):
to make THE Afc Championship. Game it's likely they will
not have to Face Patrick williams in the. Playoffs it's
likely they won't have to make Face Lamar jackson in the,
playoffs even though he's three and. Five it's likely they
won't have to Face Joe burrow in the. Playoffs this
is just one of those windows like The Detroit lions
had two years ago when they lined up for. Him

(02:11:05):
these are opportunities that pretty much almost never come. Along
we'll see If houston can take full. Advantage it starts
later this afternoon at home against The Arizona, cardinals a
game The texans are favored to. WIN i keep waiting
for The Chicago bears high wire act to trip. Up,

(02:11:25):
well it kind of sort of did In Green bay last.
Week they lost twenty eight twenty. One BUT i just
can't write The bears off, yet nor SHOULD. I they're
nine to, four they're the tenth they rank tenth in power.
Ratings they're second in the league in rushing yards if
rushed almost two thousand, yards the third AND apa per. Rush,

(02:11:49):
Now Kayleb williams to, me started to revert back to
his whirling Dervish Benny hill run around to make a.
Play they're only fourteenth in PASSING, epa and, Frankly Kayleb
williams is the worst off time throw rate in the.
League what The packers did was stuffed the box and
put the pressure On williams to beat. Him they dared
him throw and he couldn't do. It he was nineteen
to thirty five or a hundred eighty six yards and

(02:12:10):
was picked off on the final pass of the. Game
that's The Caleb williams we know in. Love let's not
disavowt What Ben johnson's done with his team in the
way the energy To bears play. With But i'm telling
you right now it was a bad misfire that really
frustrated The bears nation And Caleb williams. Himself they're a
home against The browns later today and Shoot Ora sanders

(02:12:33):
and it feels like it should be a get right
game For. Chicago they laid a big number over, seven
and you just don't. Know you don't. Know all of a,
sudden there are genuine expectations In. Chicago how might they
perform with those genuine. Expectations how About Jim Harbaugh's Los Angeles.
Chargers they're kind of doing it with. Mirrors they're nine to.

(02:12:54):
Four two weeks ago they were power rated. Fifteenth now
they've moved up to. Eleven helped them beating The eagles
on the road twenty two to nineteen in. Overtime with
this dark injury curse for The chargers just continues to be.
Real they've missed their two best offensive tackles for most
of the. Season But monday night it really showed. Up

(02:13:16):
you saw. It Justin herbert was sacked seven, times he
was hurt it another eleven. Times and that goofy nineteen
seventy four Bou chembackler offense meant That Justin herbert would
lead The chargers went and rushing with sixty six. Yards
but it wasn't like. This it was well some well
designed oil, machine well oiled. Machine he was just sippingly

(02:13:38):
running for his life half the. Time, still The chargers
won their fifth game in their last six. Yep now
they're at The. Chiefs they're at The chiefs this, week
The chargers after you, Know houston was there last. Week,
AGAIN i think you will see a Motivated chiefs team.
There they'll play for. Pride And i'm not laying the,

(02:14:00):
points But i'm having a hard. Time The chiefs are
gonna blow too in a row at home like. This
we'll see finally the twelfth ranked team in terms Of power,
rankings The eagles falling from. Ninth Aj, BROWN i don't.
KNOW i can't figure him. Out he's certainly potentially one

(02:14:23):
of the most gifted wide receivers to play the. Game
he's been advocating for a more wide open offense all,
year which means get me the, ball and this last
month may have pointed out that he's. Right, okay The,
eagles they strained to score points on, offense And i'm

(02:14:43):
just Saying Jalen. Hurts praise his, earlier but he's not
making things much. Easier turned the ball over twice at
one Play monday, night finished with four. Interceptions philly don't
look now has lost three in a. Row but The,
raiders who are a real trendy Play they're twelve points
underdogs in a game that kicks off here in about
seven hours and forty five. Minutes will The raiders pull

(02:15:05):
it up a, fight, probably but their self inflicted, wounds blowing, assignments.
PENALTIES i don't Think Kenny pickett can throw as many
interceptions As Gino smith if he. Tried but they're the Freaking, Raiders.
OKAY i think they load the box and see What
Ashton genty can do and Force Kenny pickett to beat.
Him but can He? Pickett for, morego he's not a
ham And. Egger pick on him all you. Want they're gonna.

(02:15:27):
Compete just The raiders are just there's something in THEIR.
Dna come, on, Man carolina turns it. Around damn Near
overnight stead Of New. England look what they dude In?
Denver why can't The raiders get out of their own?
WAY i think you KNOW i am not touching this
game with a ten foot, Pole so if any, HAPPENS
i will tip my cap to o the people who
think The raiders can win this game out, Right god bless,

(02:15:48):
you it would not surprise me if you look woke
up and it was twenty four to nothing at the.
Half eagles just Saying that's Why i'm staying away from this.
Game you, KNOW i gotta give The Jacksonville jaguars their,
flowers nine to. Four they beat The colts thirty six
nineteen last. Week Liam cohen is a first year. COACH
i gotta tell, you, man he did a hell of

(02:16:10):
a job In Tampa. Bay they miss him as an offensive.
Coordinator first year. Coach between him and Best Ben, johnson
they're not only winning games on the, field they're giving,
weird performative postgame locker room. Speeches after The jags won
for the fifth time in six games last, Week cohen
was high five and everybody and they should put a

(02:16:32):
leash on him because somebody's gonna get a broken, hand all,
Right but believe. This that team believes and that's On Lean.
Cohen you know they got a defensive end Name josh Heinz.
Allen he recorded his seven sack last. Week he said
with a straight, face we can go to The Super.

(02:16:53):
Bowl don't tell me they. CAN'T i, mean we Saw
Cam newton and The Carolina panthers do it twenty sixteen
after one fifteen season year and they got The. Jets,
sunday Jack bars got The Jets Tampa bay is. FOURTEENTH
i had high for. Them they they've deflated like A
Tijuana breaston. Plant they're now seven and. Six they lose

(02:17:15):
to the Freaking saints twenty forty. Twenty give it up
to The. Sames they play hard and before let's put
the first month and a half of the. SEASON i
really Thought Baker mayfield was a LEGITIMATE mvp. Candidate maybe
when he jacked the shoulder a few weeks, ago maybe
that did. Everything that changed. Everything, man he was only
fourteen to thirty for one hundred and twenty two yards

(02:17:37):
of fifty five to one rating against The. Saints and
Since week, Seven Baker, mayfield he's thirty seven in the
league IN epa and as the fourth worst off target,
rate he's catching up To Caleb. Williams that's Not Baker.
Mayfield they've already blew. It i'm. Sorry they're seven and.
Seven they played The Falcons thursday and blew a fourteen point. Lead.

(02:18:00):
BOWLS i gotta get The Carolina panthers. There they're flowers.
Too they're seven and. Six they had a bye last.
Week they have a thirty one percent chance of making the,
postseason which is better than anybody would have given them
if you'd have told them In. December the problem is
The panthers have the thirteenth hardest remaining. Schedule they got

(02:18:23):
to play The seahawks The buccaneers. Twice still Looming tampa
has been a problem For. Carolina they only won one
of their last ten games against The. Bucks they get
The saints at home later on this afternoon for twenty
Five eastern time. Kickoff they'd best take advantage of. That
you just can't say anything up more about The. Colts
they are sixteenth, rank but they're, done and it's it's

(02:18:47):
a shame because it was a nice it was a nice,
story and the Sauce gardener trade is not going to
go down as a big. Negative you can't blame The.
Colts they took a big. Swing they sent two first
round picks and wide Receiver Ady mitchell of The jets
for For, saustguard who was A Pro bowl cornerback seven
to two at the. Time you know what's happened since.

(02:19:08):
Then coming up later in the, show we are going
to get to THE nfl playoff picture as it stands right.

coming up a little bit later in the, show AS i,

(02:20:57):
Said i'm going to talk about the the PLAYOFFS nfl.
Playoffs if they were season weren't end, today who sits?
Where you might be a little. Surprised and, again if
this is what you projected back In, august you're smarter
THAN i, am because there are lots of surprises on both.
Sides teams you expect to hear there are not, There

(02:21:20):
teams you expect to be, there it didn't expect to be.
There are? There and also one last Thought i'll have.
TONIGHT i know we, JOKED i joke With Mark mendina
in the past about the the you, know THE Nba.
Cup the semi finals were here In Las Vegas saturday.
Night the finals will Be tuesday between The New York

(02:21:43):
knicks and The San Antonio, spurs and you Know when
THE Nba cup launched in twenty twenty, three it was
far from a finished. Product lots of players didn't even
know the. Rules the special courts were kind of. Polarizing
people looked at him and that almost went blind looking
at the damn. Poor but it's evolved and not only

(02:22:04):
is it working and making. Money these are just the.
Facts here's another. Upside the teams have turned into a
dry run for the. Playoffs and that's not me saying,
it it's a couple of NOTEWORTHY nba stars saying. It
so we'll get to that coming up later in the.
Show but guess, what one hundred and eighty six days
now Till World cup twenty twenty six. Begins that's, why

(02:22:28):
and we covered all in the. Show we cover lots of,
football but we cover the other football, too that's spelled.
Futbol and on that, note it's Time Chris Purffett's world Of, Soccer.

Speaker 10 (02:22:41):
The greatest, goals the thrilling, finishes the international. Drama it's
all here in this report from The World.

Speaker 5 (02:23:00):
Soccer so we've.

Speaker 17 (02:23:01):
Kind of hinted over the last few weeks about the
troubles going on With. Liverpool it's been quite the story
for The Premier league for the defending champions Of. England
currently as of this, recording they set sixth on The
Premier league. Table they actually improved that up from tenth or.
So but we'll talk about their win On saturday here

(02:23:23):
in just a, second but it does require us to
rewind the clock back about a week ago and our
last report from The world Of, SOCCER i had informed
you That liverpool was having some issues with its big
time Megastar Mohammed, sala who at the end of last
season there was a lot of consternation about his expiring
contract with a, club whether he would be one of

(02:23:45):
those very rare free transfers or An american parlance free agents.

Speaker 10 (02:23:52):
That would be, available or what the team would.

Speaker 17 (02:23:55):
Do, however they handed him a brand new contract as Per,
english so we don't really know the terms of a
lot of those. Contracts But sala himself seemed to have
suffered as the club itself began to tumble in the
standings and looks more and more dismal in its chances
to repeat as a. Champion their odds at the beginning

(02:24:16):
of the year to win The Premier league were plus
one seventy five LAST i saw that's dropped to somewhere
over plus one, thousand so it's it's it's a long
road If liverpool wants to. Repeat And sala himself had
been removed from starting lineups with the, club which is fairly,
unusual and there was an interview the previous weekend Where

(02:24:41):
sala spoke about these things.

Speaker 1 (02:24:43):
And he said that he was very.

Speaker 17 (02:24:44):
Disappointed he he's done much for the club and he just,
quote Now i'm sitting on the bench AND i don't know.
Why it seems like the club has thrown me under the.
Bus that is HOW i am. FEELING i think it
is very clear someone wanted me to get all of the.
Blame he also said that he had gotten a lot
of promises From Ourn, slute the manager At, liverpool and

(02:25:07):
that those promises were not being Count he, said, QUOTE
i said many times before THAT i had a good
relationship with the, manager and all of a sudden we
don't have a. RELATIONSHIP i don't know, why but it
seemed to, me HOW i see, it that someone doesn't
want me in the. Club not, surprisingly these comments earned
a bit of a punishment For, sala as he was
omitted from the squad on The Champions league match On

(02:25:30):
tuesday When liverpool traveled To milan to play Inter slute
himself seemed very surprised at the comments and in seemed
to have caught them. Blind so it seems to have
caught really everyone blindsided on all of. This it's not
uncommon to see issues with a big, star but for

(02:25:51):
everyone to really get blindsided for, this for the relationship
to decay so, quickly it really has raised a lot
of questions what exactly is going on In there's been
plenty of people who've lined up to Blame sala, himself
Including Wayne rooney and a Former liverpool Player Jamie, Carrigher
whereas there's been plenty of people who probably point a

(02:26:12):
few fingers.

Speaker 19 (02:26:12):
At liverpool as.

Speaker 17 (02:26:13):
WELL i would say kind of easy to do considering
where their record has, been and it's been very unclear
what exactly is going to happen With sala moving. Forward
we do have the transfer window opening up Here january
first Through. February we'll see maybe if he is, Transferred and,
yes we do have to talk about Transferring Mohammed sala

(02:26:34):
because there's really, hard really hard to repair a relationship
that seems to have been boiling over in this. Regard
it doesn't matter the money at this, point especially when
players can be traded or transferred at the drop of a.
Hat But saturday gave us a slight reprieve from. That
Mohammed salah was back in the lineup For, liverpool still

(02:26:55):
on the, bench but came in in the twenty fifth
minute and led to an assist that helped net the
second goal Against brighton And Hove, albion which was a tremendous.
Win AS i, said it Propelled liverpool all the way
up to six in the table instead of sitting there
in the. Teams and Now Mohammed sala is about to
disappear for about two three matches Of liverpool because he

(02:27:19):
is Joining egypt to go play in The African cup Of.
Nations as this is right and to be, honest probably
the prep That sala needs for This World. Cup egypt
will play in The World, cup AND i would Say
sala is the biggest star of The african continent And
egypt has pinned a lot of hopes on This World cup.
Run they're a strong a strong. Contender but the question

(02:27:40):
is what is the future Of sala With liverpool by
the time he gets back that transfer window will be
Opened january first To february second. Slot the manager says
he wants him to, stay has no issue with whatever has,
happened but The british press is very quick to question
whether this Is sala's final Liver pool.

Speaker 1 (02:28:00):
Game it would be a.

Speaker 10 (02:28:01):
Disaster to lose a player of his.

Speaker 17 (02:28:03):
Stature at the same, Time i'm struggling to figure out
if this is in irreparable damage he's. DONE i know
that there's been some commentators say that he didn't look
like he was saying goodbye To liverpool, Fans but as we,
know at the end of the, day sometimes it's not
directed at the. Fans sometimes it's something inside in an

(02:28:25):
organization that just can't be. Mended we'll see soon what
that answer will. Be until next, time this has been
the world of.

Speaker 1 (02:28:32):
Soccer all, right one hundred and eighty six days Until World.
Cup it's a big. Deal it is a big, deal
and it's going to be played a lot of games
played on our. Soil and on that, NOTE i want
to remind you folks at every goal starts with an
assist on and off the. Field that's why heleon and
Us soccer are launching for The, assist the celebration of

(02:28:56):
everyday acts support that help people achieve their, goals with
iconic brands Like, Censidine, Tom's, voltaire And adville And. Centrum
to learn, more go To haley On assist dot. Com coming,
up we wrap up the. Show got LE nfl, stuff
LITTLE nba, stuff and that'll do. It I'm Bernie. Frattle

(02:29:16):
we are comedy live from The Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio.
Studios keep it. Locked you're listening to The Bernie Fraddle show.

Speaker 5 (02:29:24):

Speaker 1 (02:29:26):
Radio all, right we are wrapping it up on The
Bernie Fraddle. SHOW i want to thank my, Producers mark
And brandon for your hard, work dedication, appreciated keeping the
plane flying in the, air keeping us on the, air

(02:29:48):
answering all the phone, calls managing the, clock and in
general allowing us to bring this show to a grateful.
Nation thanks so. Much AND i want to remind everybody
that every goal starts with an assist out and off the.
Field that's Why Haley on AND Us soccer are launching
for The, assist a celebration of everyday acts of support

(02:30:11):
that help people achieve their goals with iconic brands Like, Censindie, Tom's, Volterran,
advil And. Centrum to learn, more go To haley on
assist dot. Com, well we're getting down to the nitty
gritty crunch time in The National Football, league and as
we look at THE, nfc the playoff picture looks fairly

(02:30:33):
clear right. Now you've got The rams up top and
they are in the driver's heat to get a first
round by The, Packers eagles And bucks right now round
out the top. Four, yes The, bucks BUT i got
to tell, you after losing To New orleans and then

(02:30:54):
losing To, atlanta it's they might have one foot in
The graham and the other on a banana. Peel The,
seahawks actually the forty nine ers would right now be
in line to get to. Buy but The rams they
made easy work of The cardinals last, week who had
seven to one loss or check at seven one possession,
losses and they hung just tough enough against The jags And.

(02:31:18):
Bucks they don't ask how how, many SO i one
would think that they're lost to The panthers was a
blip on the radar screen rather than you, know potential
cracks in the. Armor the one game IF i could
only watch one game, today it would be against The.
Lions they can severely damage The lions playoff, hopes AND

(02:31:41):
i believe they're motivated to do it because remember The
lions eliminated The rams from the twenty twenty three postseason
on their way to coming this, close having a two
score lead and late in the third quarter against The
niners to get to their Only Super. Bowl but they
didn't do. It but you Got barris forty, Nine, Ers, Seahawks, Bucks, Eagles, Packers.
Rams that. Change that can, change that's in THE. Nfc

(02:32:07):
and the truth of the matter, is not only can it,
change you have a few teams in The hunt that
would dearly love to make a, change The lions being
one of. Them, right they're still eight and, five The
panthers are seven and. Six can't count out The, cowboys
just let just. Yet but their hopes took a big,
hit let's face, it when they lost to The lions last.
Week lions gridded it out Last thursday. Night AND i

(02:32:29):
think you can mathematically say the vikings in The, hunt
BUT i don't see. It, meanwhile The, Falcons, Cardinals, Saints
commanders And giants like you to thank you for participating
in the twenty twenty FIVE nfl. Season come back next,
year go, home join the home version of the, game
and best of luck to all. Participants THE afc also

(02:32:52):
interesting right. Now The patriots would have the, buye but The,
Broncos Jack steelers run out the top, four The, Chargers,
bills And texans five through. Seven AND i think The
texans are a little scary in this. GROUP i really mean,
it based on their top top ranked. Defense and you,

(02:33:14):
know if there's only IF i could watch two, games
well the other game would Be, Buffalo New england because
The patriots are looking to go worse to. First they
very much enjoyed their buy this, week but they can
secure their FIRST afc TITLE Efc east title in six,
years and they can knock out The bills On sunday one.
Two just like. That they've found their franchise quarterback and

(02:33:36):
The tom you, know The Tom brady er is no
longer in the Post Tom brady. Air they have their franchise.
Quarterback but this is interesting Because Drake may is trying
to get Where Josh allen has, been and Now Josh
allen's trying to knock him off the. Perch that's going
to be an interesting game On. Sunday jags have won

(02:33:56):
four in a. Row they blew out The colts last.
Week they're fun to continue to. Watch The chargers pulled
off their overtime victory last week against The. Eagles they
got a one game, buffer BUT i don't, know, man
two offensive linemen. Down they go To Kansas, city and
of Course Justin. Herbert that offense hardball ran to me

(02:34:17):
was a real head scratcher where they pulled it. Off
Justin herbert led the team in rushing with sixty six.
Yards most of it was running for his life with
a broken. Hand houston't Look they're not always, pretty but
they continued their serge Last sunday. Night they had a
massive road victory against The. Chiefs great defensive. Stand if
their offensive line can keep C. J stroud upright and C.

(02:34:39):
J stroud plays to his, POTENTIAL i genuinely think The
texans are as dangerous as anybody in the. Conference to
go to THE Afc Championship, Game they're not gonna have
to go Through Kansas. City they're gonna have to go Through.
Baltimore they're not gonna have to go Through. Cincinnati one
of those rare. Years their final three Games arizona The
raiders and then At Los Angeles. Chargers so since starting

(02:35:03):
Out bowl and, three they're eight and. Two since they're
eight and, five they could easily finish eleven and, five
not ten and. Seven don't go to sleep on The Houston.
TEXANS i really mean that that defense is. Real they
only give up fifteen points a. Game The colts mathematically
are still in the, hunt But Philip rivers is going
to have to do something sensational THAT i think that

(02:35:23):
would boggle the mind if they were to steal a
victory In. Seattle but The National Football, league, right The, colts,
well you know where you. Stand ravens six and, seven come,
on let's just see this for what it. Is same
with The, chiefs, Unfortunately dolphins six and. Seven they might

(02:35:43):
have won four in a, row but too, little too,
late and The bengals are four and. Nine you saw
the look On Joe Furrows Joe burrow's face this. Week,
YEAH i don't see why he would be having fun
when you consider he's had this incredibly injury riddle career
to after getting to The Super bowl in the second,
season whatever it, was it was they played the game
In january twenty, Two february Twenty to excuse, ME i

(02:36:06):
would just say this that it's not the script he
would have. Written and it's a shame because it's Only
burrow injuries and injuries that have derailed what should be
a Good cincinnati, team and they're just they can't get. There,
meanwhile The New York, jets they're. Eliminated you already knew,
That so were The. Browns so are The, raiders and
so are The. Titans so there's the playoff picture as it.

(02:36:29):
Stands it may, Change it probably will, change maybe not
a whole. Lot there are no great teams in THE,
nfl and some of the teams on the outside looking
in really have to dig themselves out of a hole
and they need. Help all. RIGHT i have made fun
of THE Nba cup over the, years the semi finals

(02:36:49):
over the. Years hell is only a third. Year the
semi finals were played In Las vegas Here saturday. Night
pretty good, game two good. Games knicks prevailed and you
could call it an. Upset San antonio Beat Oklahoma. City
so you've Got San antonio in The Knicks tuesday. Night,
now look when they launched THIS Nba, cup But Adam

(02:37:10):
silver kind of forced it down everybody's throats two years.
Ago it was far from a finished. Product in, fact
we were laughing at. It several players were ignorant of
the tournament. Rules these special courts with all the dazzling
colors were blinding. People they were polarizing. Them formn function
and it didn't really have a PROP i, mean THE Nba,

(02:37:32):
CUP i don't know we've even called THE Nba. CUP
i think it was called THE nba in season, tournament
kind of like The Super, bowl used to be THE
AFL Nfl championship before the league finally renamed it THE
Nba cup just last year and added The Emirates airline
as a title. Sponsor two good moves and now there's
been virtually no change in THE Nba cup format between

(02:37:54):
years two and, three and so as people are now
kind of looking past all these initial issues with the court,
design this tournament is here to, stay and it's making
money and it's going to be a prominent fixture on
THE nba. Calendar now to the, participants one of the
big selling points of THE Nba cup has been clear
since the jump, money the grand prize for each player

(02:38:16):
on the winning team was five hundred thousand and twenty twenty,
three it's now jumped TO i think five hundred and
thirty one thousand this. Year now you say to, yourself full.
HELD a guy Like, giannis he was the twenty twenty
FOUR Nba CUP. Mvp he makes forty nine million a,
year so what the hell the grand prize to? Him
that's less than his per game salary of six hundred.

(02:38:38):
Grand but talk about all the players on minimum. Deals
this is a. Prize it's a significant portion of their yearly.
Earnings the minimum deal for the twenty six season is
one point two, million so the grand prize is like
it will go forty two percent raise in one. Day
the same can be said for players on two way,
contracts who are paid half of THE nba minimum deal

(02:39:00):
six thirty six and receive half the prize money depending
on how many group play games that they're active. In
so here's the prize money. Breakdown the champion gets five
hundred and thirty one, thousand the runner up two hundred
and thirteen, THOUSAND a semi finalist one or one hundred
and six, thousand one hundred and eighty seven. Dollars even
the quarter finalists get fifty four. Thousand there's one last.

(02:39:22):
Upside give it up To Shay. Gil just what a good,
dude he. Said. Cool this is a really good prep
for the. Postseason it's heightened stakes the regular season eighty
two game. Season it's good to get reps in games
that mean a little bit more and have stakes to.
It they. Say it's helped even if the loss earlier
in the. Month the key is losing in general makes us.
Better it's like getting us ready for the. Playoffs and

(02:39:46):
the truth of the matter is you'll notice the intensity
is a little more in these. Games, YEP nba cups
here to. Stay it's gonna do it up. Next Andy,
furman The Great Andy, furman keep it. Locked Fox Sports,
