Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
That's right, you heard the man, So that's out a week.
My name is Bernie Fratto. We are coming to your
line from the Tarrac dot com studios here in Las Vegas,
Fox Sports Radio, tyract dot com. We'll help you get there.
Don match's selection, fast free shipping, free road azer protection
hit over ten thousand recommended installers tyrac dot com, the

(00:25):
way tied buying should be. We'll get to the NFL
barnburn last night and perhaps she saw the big announcement Tuesday. Yes,
of course, I'm talking about the ESPN First Pass College
Football twelve team bracket. You know. Minds me of the story.
When I was in third grade, I might have been

(00:46):
a bit of a troublemaker and my teacher, missus Birch,
I didn't like her that much, and I used to
make faces, make faces at her, and one day I
got busted. I was making a face at her and
she turned around and looked at me, and so making
the face, and she said, mister fraddle. When I was
a young girl, my mother told me that if I
made faces like that when I grew up as an adult,

(01:09):
they would stick. And I said, Well, missus Birch, you
can't say you weren't warned. Well, you can't say you
weren't warned about the upcoming playoff announcement. Look, at one
point voters voted stupid, but that's how we crowned a
national champion. Then the BCS came along better than nothing,

(01:32):
but everybody complained, and you know why. Then the four
team TV Made for TV Invitational came along. He was
okay for a minute when it was the shiny new toy,
but pretty much everybody complained. And here we go. Did
you happen to notice the four teams that gotta buy
are Georgia, Miami, Oregon. I wait for it, b Yu, Yeah, okay,

(02:00):
could you do me a favor put yourself a big old,
shut up glass about BYU. Shut up glass of juice.
Stop complaining about BYU. Here's why I like this format
because it's championship based. All arguments will be decided on

(02:22):
the field. Ask Florida State last year if they would
have preferred to have this they won the ACC. It's
championship based. The old format, you had five power conferences
and four slots. Stupid, Okay, I get it. I'm not
an idiot. No, I'm no high school dropout. I went

(02:42):
to full six years. I get that the SEC is
better than the Big twelve. Okay, so if you're Texas
or Alabama or even Mississippi. Let's say, if you put
Mississippi on a neutral with BYU tonight, I think Mississippi
would be would be favored by maybe as my which
is nine or ten. But that's not the real world anymore.

(03:04):
So if you're Texas or Alabama and Mississippi and your
butt hurt because you're better than BYU, then I have
an id for you. Secede from the SEC and go
to a lesser conference. Problem solved, go to the Big twelve.
Problem solved. But you're not going to do that, are you. Well,
by the way, the SEC got four teams in the

(03:25):
Big twelve got one. You know when the Big Twelve
you ain't getting in, and if BYU falls, maybe they
get beats Saturday night to Utah, it's going to be
the Holy War. Well by you won't get in most likely,
and you might have a three loss SEC team get in. So,
like I said, you know, if you don't like the

(03:46):
conference you're in, it's the new rage. Switch to new conference.
But that's a tough thing to do, that would require effort.
Like Alan Iverson once said, you know why I don't
like to lift weights because they look real quickly about
the LSU Alabama game Saturday, which is going to be
a doozy. Towards the end of the show, there are

(04:07):
three matchups you don't want to miss. Colorado, Texas Tech
byu U tah and LSU Alabama. They're calling it an
elimination game. This is November ninth, the In past seasons,
this wouldn't have been an elimination game. This would have
been two teams playing for pride because they both have

(04:28):
two losses. So tell me you don't like this new
playoff format. And we've already seen the hypothetical matchups, which
we know it probably won't shake out this way. Could
you'd have again BYU Oregon, Miami and Georgia with a
buy and a home game because they won their respective conferences.

(04:50):
If the season were to end today, Penn State is
the number seven seed, would host Notre Dame host not
Bad on their campus, Texas would host Alabama, Tennessee would
host Indiana, and finally, the five twelve matchup, the dreaded
five to twelve matchup. Ohio State would host Boise State.

(05:11):
You're watching all of it. You're here for all of it.
You know. Damn well, say OHI. Ohio State advances, they
play BUYU. Now, we're gonna play it on the field,
aren't aren't we? There's no more speculation Indiana or Tennessee
would have to go to Oregon. You get the picture.
So you know, death tax isn't complaining, it's it's in vogue.
People love to complain about everything, you think, but we're

(05:35):
here for it. Speaking of complaining, I really don't know
if the Bengals got hosed by three miss calls on
the final drive and the loss of the Ravens, because
I no longer think there's any universal definition of what
the hell of penalty is in the NFL, especially a
face mask or certainly a pass interference and in the
final two minutes of the game, throw care to the wind.

(05:59):
We've on He's seen it a thousand times, particularly in
the marquee games, the standalone games, primetime games. But in
spite of all that, the Ravens managed to out the Bengals,
and what was Frankly O. Barnburn on Thursday Night. This
is the best you're gonna get on a Thursday night

(06:20):
matchup two of the NFL's best quarterbacks. Lamar Jackson, mister October,
I know you all want to sing his praises, you
want to have his baby, you want to take him
to prom whatever, just do it in January once. Just
get to a super Bowl, even if you don't win one.
I'm tired. I know he's good. I defended Lamar Jackson
coming out of Louisville. He's good. But I don't want

(06:42):
to hear any more of the mister October. I guess
we're in November now. I know what he can do.
You know what he can do, do what it matters,
Go in and beat Going and beat Mahomes and Arrowhead. Well,
I got off track there. Two of the NFL's best
quarterbacks were featured Thursday Night. Lamar Jackson Joe Burrow highlight
reel touchdown one after another. The final minutes of the
game really started to look like it was a playoff game,

(07:05):
and frankly, he's going to go a long way to
decide either team's playoff outlook. Obviously, the the the Ravens
are in, but I'm not counting out the Bengals. Yet, man,
I don't get If you look at burrows numbers, and
if you look at Jamar Chase's numbers, and you look
at Trey Hendricks's numbers, you say to yourself, how the

(07:26):
hell is this team four and six? It make it
make sense? Well, let's see where it goes. There's seven
games left. I think Cincinnati could go on a heater
at end the proverbio go for a two point conversion
to decide it. Hence you have the situation where people
are arguing whether or not the Bengals got hosed. Add

(07:49):
it all up, you have the piece to resistance in
a Thursday night game bought as good as it gets.
Final score Ravens thirty five, Bengals thirty four. If you
bet the dog get cashed. If you bet the overard cashed,
even though at halftime both teams had trouble scoring. Now,
this was essentially three games and one for two and
a half quarters. Cincinnati played likely its best football this season,

(08:10):
considering they were four and five, took a twenty one
to seven, laid laid into the third against what they
tell us is on paper an elite Baltimore defense I'm
not buying that they've been lit up by other teams.
I think they held bow knicks down. Hell, they lost
at home with the Raiders. They're not an elite defense,
or you may have to tell me what your definition
of elite is. Then the Ravens boom twenty one straight points.

(08:35):
Then they traded touchdowns to two teams in the final
two minutes, and then the Bengals balls. He moved to
go for it for two with thirty eight seconds to
go failed. What a shock. There's the chef's kiss on
the whole game, a little bit of everything, and I
you know, going for two when the game's on the
line for one play to one at all, it's a
bar argument that no one will ever win. It's seventy

(08:55):
percent you're not going to do it. And it's funny
because if you go for two at any point in
the game, it's already difficult, but when you add that
added drama, it's do or die, go home when your
whole season might be on the line. Maybe a bit much,
Maybe a bit much at the end of the day
for you stat walks seven hundred and eighteen yards passing
between the two quarterbacks, eight touchdowns, nobody threw a pick.

(09:16):
Three of those touchdowns were seventy yards or longer. Lamar's
eighty four yard connection with Tylan Wallace was the longest
of his career. In Joe Burrow, he hits Jamar Chase
for the other two Chase two hundred and sixty four
yards receiving alone. Maybe it may have made history for
the Bengals st haven't beating Flip or Anderson's record, but

(09:38):
for the seven and three Ravens, it was sort of
a necessary victory to keep pace in what's becoming one
of the NFL's best divisions, where they still trail the
Steelers down the four and six Bengals. They got a
favorable schedule the rest of the way, like I said,
and if they can keep playing like this, we should
expect a wild card spot. I truly believe that. But
margins are thin, and it's got a sting to see

(09:59):
an own two record against Baltimore by a combined margin
of loss a total of four points. And on that note,
we move on too much to get to. You know,
several months ago, good eight months ago, it was announced
that Mike Tyson would be getting back in the ring.
This time is against Jake Paul. The sanctimonious crowd completely

(10:22):
lost their mind. What's Tyson doing? They don't take Jake
Paul serious. In case you missed it, our society has
been infatuated with gladiator events since the beginning of time.
But rather than knock your head against the wall, let's
bring in a pro to analyze this fight. We're gonna
bring in Paulie Marakin from artist boxing here right here

(10:42):
in Vegas, retired pro. He was fourteen and two. We'll
get his thoughts on it because when I sign on
next Friday night at this time, the fight will will
be in a fade a complete. So let's talk about it.
It's already been delayed once it was supposed to be.
It was supposed to be July twentieth, and Michael Mike
Tyson had a an ulcer flare up on a plane,

(11:05):
so they had to delay the fight for four months.
We're talking about a former world champion, yes, and Jake Paul.
By the way, In case you missed it, he had
another TK over, a bare knuckle boxing champ named Mike Perry.
He's not ten and one. You can laugh at Jake
Paul all you want. He can fight. I'm not saying
he's a top ten contender, but what I am saying

(11:26):
is he's better than you think he is. And by
the way, in the betting ons here in Las Vegas,
Bett MGM Jake Paul's minus two fifty to win. There's
also a funny bet there a draw at plus nine hundred.
But either way you slice it, it's gonna be entertaining.
So we'll bring in coach Paul to chop it up.

(11:47):
I'm Bernie Frattle. We are comedy line from Las Vegas,

All right back in the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Coming to live from Tarak dot com studios here in
Las Vegas. A week from tonight. It'll be in the
books one of the biggest boxing matches that we'll be
talked about for quite a while. And rather than knock
our heads against the wall, let's bring in a pro
to analyze this fight. He owns Artist Boxing here in

(12:31):
Las Vegas, retired professional lightweight fourteen and two, and I
can tell you from personal experience a fantastic boxing coach.
Let's say hello to coach Paulimyraken. PAULI, how you doing?

Speaker 4 (12:43):
Coach hy? Hello, Hey Bernie, I'm doing great. Thanks saring
something awesome?

Speaker 5 (12:49):
All right?

Speaker 2 (12:49):
You good buddy. Thanks. We've talked about this fight a lot,
at you, Jim, and so now it's upon us. By
this time next Friday night, Tyson and Paul will have fought.
So when you first heard these two were getting in
the ring for real? Uh, what was your What was
your initial reaction? Coach?

Speaker 4 (13:11):
I was actually amazed. I was like, wow, I can't
believe my Tens is coming back. I mean, you know,
he's considered the best man on a planet. And I
was thinking, with this guy, Paul, is he ready? Is this?
Is he serious? Is he really gonna do this? And
I'm just like, I'm really I'm really excited. I mean
I can't wait.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Honestly, Yeah, I'm with you too. So it's going to
be in Dallas sixty zero. People expect to do it ten.
Now there's going to be eight two minute rounds instead
of twelve three minute rounds.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Eight.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Yeah, who do you think that favorites? Coach?

Speaker 4 (13:48):
You know, I think it favors Mike and one in
one way or another. I really do, because you know,
I'm sure he's cool with that, because you know, he's
fifty eight, I think, and I think it's it's going
to be a bit hard, you know, I think, you know,
I think that that's good. I think that's good because
he will be able to to go all those full realms,

(14:09):
I believe.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
So let's talk about this. Let's let's take each fighter's
strengths and weaknesses at age fifty eight. What are Mike
Tyson's strengths?

Speaker 4 (14:22):
You know, he can still punch, you know. You know
I've seen him in the mix, you know, on video
here and there, and he looks powerful. I'm just amazed,
you know, he looks fast, and you know, you know,
I'm just wondering, Bernie, will Paul be able to take

(14:43):
his shots? You know, how will he react? You know,
I mean, he's he's really really strong's he's fought the best.
We all know that. You know, he's fought you name it,
you know, and you know Paul has fought just you know,
some great names. I'm not going to say that these
guys run, but you know, and you know, honestly, at

(15:07):
fifty eight, I really really don't think he is that.
I mean, nowadays fifty is not that old Bernie, you know.
And I'm gonna.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
I hear you. Here's here's the question I have too,
because we look at Jake Paul and he may he
may be younger, but what are his strengths when they
get in the ring, because you know Paul actually getting
there in the pocket and duke it out. What do
you what are what are yours? What do you believe
Jake Paul's strengths are as you analyze him.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
You know, he's really really strong. He's really strong. I've
seen him next to Paul and those and those you
know when they go face off or whatever, and he
looks huge and he's strong. He's young, yes, he mentioned that,
and he you know, he's been training like crazy. I

(15:56):
mean see those videos he puts up, you know, and
he's not joking. I'm just like, man, this kid is
not joking. I mean, he really wants to be up
our old tyson. Like I said, I don't want to
call him old Tyson, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
Well, well, look he's the last fought. He didn't he
fought and lost to Peter immediately eighteen years ago, so
he had been a minute. Now let's stay with Jake Paul. Uh,
what are his weaknesses? What are Jake Paul's weaknesses? Where
is he susceptible? If you were in Tyson's corner, what
would you be saying, you know.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Be telling Paul, Look, Paul, do not get hit. You know,
don't act tough. Paul likes that tough in the ring too.
You know, He's used to just kind of let people know, like, look,
I'm a real fighter. I can take these shots. You
gotta be careful in there, man, because look, Mike Tyson,
let's not forget Bernie. He would knock guys out in

(16:57):
one round. You know, he still have So I would
tell Paul love Paul, get in their box, box, get
it away from them, get your coming you, get your
combinations in and go under those hooks that Maki's gonna
come in with Mark Mike Technan comes in with the
Coper cut and yeah, yeah, you've got to go get

(17:18):
in there, get your tumbles in and get the halloway
from Mike man because he will.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
Right now, Let's okay, so let's talk about uh about Mike.
What where is Look, he's been beaten. Where where is
Mike Tyson? Susceptible, particularly at this age. So if you're in,
if you're in uh Mike's corner, you know, and he's
going up against the kid who's got punching power. Uh,
and he's not, he's fearless. What are you telling Mike Tyson?

(17:48):
What is your game plan strategy with Mike Tyson? And
where is he?

Speaker 4 (17:52):
You know I would tell Mike, Yeah, I would tell Mike. Look, Mike,
don't trust this young kid. He's strong. He wants to
poo people that take you out. You know, do not
get hit, don't trust them. Move your head like you
did before. You know, get your jab in there. You know,
time him because he's faster than you might. You know,

(18:14):
time on, use your angles, move your head, let's not
forget and get your companies in and cover up because
this kid's gonna come in and hit you back because
he hits the strong kid and make sure you get
to get your work in Mike can get out and
you know, save your energy.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
We're talking with coach Paulie Markin. He owns Artists boxing
here in Las Vegas, retired professional fourteen and two. He
knows what it's like to be in the ring. So
you know, Jake, Paul's gonna load that right hand up.
Would you be maybe a concern for Paul if he
takes a big swing and Tyson slips comes in with

(18:56):
a body shot. Do you do you feel Tyson's going
to do his best damage as a counterpuncher or do
you think Mike takes the fight to him?

Speaker 4 (19:04):
You know what, great Chris, great question. I did mention
that he's gonna be waiting for him. So a lot
of these counter printers, they wait, Bernie, they wait, They
kind of you know, see what you're gonna do. So, yes,
I think you got it, Bernie. I think he's gonna
wait for him to make the mistake. He's gonna catch

(19:25):
him because Paul does throw that beautiful right hand man
and trusting Mike already knows that. He already knows that,
and he's gonna say yes. So I'm thinking Mike's gonna
catch him coming in because Mike is a great counter
printer too. Remember that he was an aggressor progressor an
aggressive fighter, but then he can counter. You know what
I mean.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
If I were Paul, I'd be worried about a body
shot early because, oh yeah, if you got to avoid that.
So let's talk about this eight rounds two minutes around.
Do you expect it to go to the distance. Do
you expect it to be a decision? Do you expect
somebody to get knocked out? Or do you perhaps expected
to be a draw?

Speaker 4 (20:06):
You know, uh, this question is really hard, but I'm
going to answer you. And honestly, I really really love
all I love. Of course, we all love my present.
But you know I am definitely thinking my kind is
going to knock him out and this around man, you know, yes, yes, man,
I am really if not the second the beginning of

(20:29):
the third man, because it's going to come to a
point where the first round of the pro my title
has already been there many many times in that cage. Man,
and he knows when when he when he hits you
and he smells blood, he's going to try to take
him out. He's not gonna want to go round. He's
you know, he's gonna say, why go a round?

Speaker 6 (20:50):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (20:51):
I'm getting paid the same, you know. And sometimes or
he might want to have to show. He might want
to he might say, hey, I can knock this kid
out and maybe everybody a show. Sometimes fighters do that,
you know, they just don't.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
I don't think Tyson's gonna do that, man, I think
he's angry. Uh And do you know here's the thing,
two questions left because we saw it. Shocked the hell
out of me. But Jake Paul put Tyron Woodley to
sleep twice. However, however, in the first fight, Tyron Woolly

(21:26):
caught him. He caught him with a right and rocked him,
but Paul took it. You believe in fifty eight Tyson
has a more devastating power punch than than than than
Tyron Woodley had a thirty five.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
Oh no doubt, okay, I mean Titan Woodley, Yes.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
For sure.

Speaker 4 (21:46):
I mean my Texan just didn't punching like all right, coach,
So we got your prediction.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
Just to make myself clear, you believe Tyson will will
will not Jake Paul could be as early as the
second round, was that fair man?

Speaker 4 (22:01):
Yes, sir, yes, sir, I believe so you know, I
mean this is not Yeah, I'm nineteen to let people know. Look,
I'm still be.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
All right. Coach. Hey, listen, I appreciate you staying up
late tonight. Keep up the great work. If you're joining
Artist Boxing over there on Sunset Road in Las Vegas,
and we'll talk to you soon, Coach, thanks so much
for coming on tonight.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
As coach. PAULI markeen artist Boxing. He believes Mike Tyson
will knock out Jake Paul in the second round. It's
next Friday night, Jerry World. There's six fights on the undercar.
There'll be sixty thousand people there. I'm really not sure
what time the main event will go off, but I
know it'll be done by the time we sign on.
So coming up, we have to set up two topics

(22:48):
tonight for the midnight hour, of which the callers have
been fabulous eight seven seven nine nine six six three
sixty nine eight seven, seven nine to nine on Fox
twenty nine minutes from now, from where I sit here
in the Pacific time zone, it will be twelve midnight.
Literally from where you sit it may as well, but
it will certainly be twelve, and that figuratively, we're gonna
get to all that coming up for first, Let's go

(23:10):
to our guy, Kevin Figures, who always knocks it out
with the latest.

Speaker 7 (23:14):
All right, Bernie, We'll start with the NBA on Friday night,
some games of no Cleveland improving to a league best
ten to zero with a one thirty six to one
seventeen victory over the Warriors. Darius Garland the leading scorer
there for the Cavs with twenty seven points, a triple
double for Lebron James Anthony Davis also with thirty one
points for the Lakers. They defeated the seventy six ers

(23:34):
one sixteen to one. OZH six Philadelphia, now one in
seven on the season. Denver over Miami won thirty five
to one twenty two a triple double there for Nicola Jokic.
Oklahoma City eight and one after a blowout victory over
the Rockets Phoenix, also eight and one, They defeat the
Mavericks in Dallas one fourteen to one thirteen. In college basketball,
Hunter Dickinson twenty points in ten rebounds for top right Kansas.

(23:58):
They defeat number nine North Carolina ninety two to eighty nine.
Cooper Flag thirteen points, eleven boards for seventh rank Duke
and it blowout win over Army College Football, UCLA over
Iowa twenty to seventeen.

Speaker 8 (24:07):
Memphis is eight and two.

Speaker 7 (24:09):
They beat Rice twenty seven to twenty, cal A forty
six to thirty six, victory over Wake Forest, and New
Mexico with a victory over at San Diego State.

Speaker 8 (24:18):
Back to Bernie Freddo.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
All right, thanks, buddy. Well, we're gonna have two topics
tonight on the midnight hour, which you'll be coming up
here in twenty seven minutes. And you know we're gonna
get to the Paul Tyson thing. I need to hear
from you on that. About eight nine months ago, when
the fight was announced, we took one call after another.

(24:40):
Some people can't wait to see it. Some people thought
this is the dumbest idea of all time. And you
know now that it's a promise, we'll get your prediction on.
You know, some people said this will never happen. The
opinions were strong, loved them. Now we're gonna ask a
different line of questions. I'll tighten that up in just
a second. But what I really want to dive into

(25:01):
one of the biggest stories this past week. You know,
we've been talking a lot about crazy fan behavior.

Speaker 9 (25:08):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
And that of course continued this week. There were more
incidents this week. But we're not gonna we're not gonna
dwell on that tonight. That's just always gonna be there.

Speaker 10 (25:17):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
But what we really need to get into is this
situation regarding Joel Embiid. And uh, look, uh, we have
a situation where obviously tensions, tensions just seem to run
high in society. It's just the way it is right now.
And when it comes to Joel Embiid, here's a guy

(25:40):
who's who's clearly one of the top players in in
the in the NBA. Uh and he hasn't even getten
on the floor this year. He just got, you know,
just got the bag. Phil Philadelphia is a disaster. They
they can't win. I think they're one and eight. Uh
and and and you have the situation now, then everybody

(26:03):
knows about a columnist in Philadelphia. His name is Marcus Hayes.
He drew a lot of backlash last week after criticizing
Joel Ebid for not suiting up for games because he's
been riding Jolian Bid like a rented mule. But here's
where he crossed the line in doing so. He referenced

(26:26):
Jolian Beiad's late brother and his son, and Joelanbiid understandably
was furious. Furious, he approached the journalist Marcus Hayes after
the Sixers home game against Memphis last Saturday, pushed him
on the shoulder during the If you want to call
it an altercation, there was obvious, you know, reaction on

(26:51):
both sides. And I think this, I don't know. I
think the Sixers might have been upset because Marcus Hayes
was not removed from the Philadelphia Sixers beat. So he
continues to report on the team and onward and upward.
But a few days past, and it turns out that

(27:13):
Joel Embiid's actions resulted in a three game ban, which
was handed down Tuesday, which is kind of silly. He's
not playing anyway, and now they're going to ban him
for three games. But you know, this is the Adam
Silver League, where everything is done based on optics. But
that didn't go over well with a lot of folks,

(27:35):
is you know. In addition to that, there are a
lot of players that came to you know, Joel Embiid's defense,
saying his actions were justified, but Joe Dumars, a guy
got to know in Detroit, said quote, mutual respect is
paramount to the relationship between players and media and the NBA.
While we understand Joe was offended by the personal nature

(27:56):
of the original version of the reporter's column, which has
since been edited. We understand Joe was offended. Interactions must
remain professional on both sides and can never turn physical.
Once again, we are nine days away from the Mouse
at the Palace, ten days twenty year anniversary. This is
not that, this is an offshoot to that. So as

(28:20):
we dive into the midnight hour tonight, we want to
hear from you. All right, whose side are you on?
Did the journalists go too far in his verbiage and
writing a story and referencing Joel Embiid's son and his
late brother. I guess I'll have to fill in the

(28:41):
blanks in case some of you missed it. But Joel
Embiid apparently was particularly motivated to do well this season.
He had a son, and he named his son after
his late brother who died tragically. Now, someone who's an
educated journalist, I don't see the validity in referencing that
in an article. It opens wounds, It crosses the line.

(29:02):
It's a bridge too far in my humble opinion. But
this guy, you know, he did what he did. And
I think Joel Embiid, you know, he was dropping a
few f bombs. This is in the firstf and time.
Blah blah blah. I went too far and he pushed them.
So did journalists go too far? Did Joel Embiid go

(29:23):
too far? I want your thoughts on this. And did
the NBA do the right thing by suspending them three games?
Should he have not been suspended or should he have
been suspended more than three games? And remember these when
they adjudicate these things, it becomes kind of a primer,
It becomes kind of a teacher, so that if you're

(29:43):
an NBA player and listen, the days are long gone
when writers and players often would travel on the same plane.
That was generations ago. They were friends, they drank together,
they hung out. There was a mutual respect long gone,
long gone. And there's a lot of resentment. I've seen it.
I've seen it. Personal been in clubhouses and locker rooms forever.

(30:07):
I've had a media credential forever, and I've seen I've
seen people get testing. Never seen anybody get physical. So
what happened, and I guess my gut feel is is
that in part of part of the commissioner's most separandi
is he wants everybody else to see this and let
it be a lesson. If you put your hands on

(30:28):
a reporter, you're gonna get suspended as well. But this
is a fairly highly charged situation, and you can't ignore
the fact that Joel Embiid has said it. He's brilliant,
a superb player. And I don't think Philly's ever going
to win a damn thing. Paul George is out now
to that poor team, you know, Julie is serving, and
Harvey Catchings and Darryl Dawkins and Bobby Jones, they're not

(30:50):
walking through that door. That's just all there is to it.
You got Jolian Biid. Now, this is your generation and
the process ain't working. So the journalists go too far
to MBIG, you go too far to the NBA. Do
the right thing. What are your thoughts? What might you
have done? And usually people come up with angles that
I don't think about. That's what makes the Midnight Hour
so great. Eight seven, seven, nine nine six six three

(31:11):
sixty nine eight seven seven nine nine six or eight
seven seven, nine to nine on Fox. Coming up, We'll
get to Part B and you could comment on one
or both or the rant. If you've got a rant
about something else, you're not jiggy about this subject matter,
we'll get you in on some other subject. But for starters,
I think that Joel Imbid has got real legs. I

(31:31):
really do. Football fans, be sure to tune in to

Right here on Fox Sports Radio in the iHeartRadio app
on Bernie Friday, we are company line from Las Vegas,
Fox Radio, Tirek dot Com Studios. Keep it locked right here.
You're listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
All right back in the Bernie Fradle Show, Foxforts Radio.
Coming to live from the tyrek dot Com studios Here
in Las Vegas. We are thirteen minutes away from the

(32:13):
top of the hour, which means it's the midnight hour
here in Las Vegas and the Pacific time zone. It's
the midnight hour. Literally, figuratively, I'm sure it's the midnight
hour somewhere where you live. And figuratively it's the midnight
hour because you get the final word as in the
midnight hour eight seven, seven nine nine six sixty three
sixty nine eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox Line
them up. Calls have been fabulous, you know are we

(32:36):
stand on the Joel Embiid situation. Didn't like what the
reporter wrote, reporter shoved him. You got suspended three games?
Joel Embiid? Did the reporter remains on the beat with
Philadelphia and this is how co this is how Adam Silver,
the commissioner elect to handle it. Your thoughts, who's in
the right, who's in the wrong, Whose side of you on?

(32:58):
Did the commissioner handle it right? What am I missing here?
You might have an angle. We are also one week
away from Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. I know that
when this fight was announced, I think it was February,
about February March. We did a midnight hour deal on
this and everybody was fantastic. People lost their mind. Very

(33:20):
few people were for it, some people were a lot
of people said, Wow, this fight's never going to happen,
This is a joke. And then sure enough on you know,
it was supposed to have been This was supposed to
have taken place on July twentieth, but Mike Tyson had
an ulcer flare up and that ended up delaying the

(33:41):
fight by four months. But it is on. Tyson said,
it is all systems go. He's ready to go. Meanwhile,
Jake Paul's even had another fight in between, and he's
now ten and one in. You know, anyway, this is
going to be a spectacle, all right. As you've heard
me say a thousand times, we've been in fatuate this

(34:03):
Socidey's been infatuated with gladiator sports since the beginning of time.
So people are gonna watch this. I'm telling you they're
gonna watch it. It's on Netflix, and you know it's
part of a seven fight card. We don't know what
time the main available off. If I had to make
a guess, a guess it'll go off sometime between eight

(34:24):
and nine Pacific time. It's eight two minute rounds with
a one minute break, So the longest the thing's gonna
last is twenty four minutes. He heard coach Paul say
he believes Tyson willknock him out the second round. And listen,
this is gonna be It's the first boxing event be
streamed by Netflix. They believe they'll sell sixty thousand tickets

(34:49):
or maybe they already have at Jerry Dome in Dallas. It's,
you know, gearing up. It's billed as Iron Mike versus
the Problem Child.

Speaker 11 (35:01):
And.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
I will be watching. I'm curious, is what's going to
happen now? For perspective. For perspective, you may or may
not recall four years ago, in November of twenty twenty,
Roy Jones Junior fought Mike Tyson. They had an eight
round exhibition. They wore larger gloves. It was kind of

(35:25):
a limited rules set and the fight ended in a draw.
But here's probably what you don't remember. It got over
one point six million buys, so don't pooh pooh this
all right. Tyson also fought an exhibition in twenty oh
six against Corey Sanders, and you know, eighteen years ago
it was a bit of a flop at the box office,

(35:47):
but the one with Roy Jones became a top ten
selling pay per view event in the history of boxing.
So the biggest takeaway from that fight is the comments
that Roy Jones had off afterward, and he doubled down
on a couple of days ago. He basically said, quote,

(36:07):
when you get hit by Mike Tyson, it's like a
mule kick in the chest, and so they square it off.
If he watched the fight, it wasn't a great fight,
but it was two legends, Roy Jones Junior and Mike Tyson.
And you know, Roy Jones said, look, I feel like
I've got some of the fastest hands in bocking the

(36:28):
way in the world. He can dodge my punches. But
Roy Jones Junior admitted he was able to move side
by side and some dodge some punches. Secondly, he talked
about when Mike hit Roy Jones Junior. Uh. He said
he really felt he was very dangerous, very dangerous. But

(36:50):
he also thinks that well he first of all, he
thinks Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr. Thinks Mike Tyson will
knock out Jayaul just like Coach Paul did. But Roy
Jones Junior went on to say that if Jake can
get in and get his rhythm and get some momentum
and be problematic for Mike down the line along of
the fight goes on, well he gets comfortable, Jake Paul

(37:14):
could become more dangerous, and Mike has basically said this
is going to be tough for Jake.

Speaker 12 (37:21):
But we don't know.

Speaker 2 (37:21):
We don't know Willie, what Mike's got left in the tank.
And Jake Paul can fight. I don't care what anybody says.
I think, as Roy Jones said, it would be Mike's
best interest to get in and get it taken note
he'd get it over with quick if he can. Because
I also think the longer the fight goes on in
the world, you know, it favors Jake Paul. And the
betting offs here in Las Vegas are minus two fifty,

(37:44):
which gives Jake Paul about a seventy eight percent chance
and win in the fight. Be that as it may,
and I'm not betting to fight. These are our two
subjects tonight, and I just mentioned the first one about
about Joel Embiid. All right, So when this topic came
up eight months ago and the fight was announced, there
was a fair amount of consternation among the callers. Some

(38:05):
people thought it was a stupid idea. Some people said,
what the hell, I'll watch it. Other people said this
is never going to happen. It's never going to happen.
And then when the situation in July happened, people somebody
thought people were ducking out of it. No, that's not true.
Tyson had a medical issue and is happening. It is happening.
So that's part of the You know, unless you still

(38:27):
think something goofy is going to happen in the next week,
next week, maybe that is your position. But the main
thing is Paul and Tyson next Friday. It's controversial. Will
you watch the fight? Do you think it's a good idea,
do you think it's a bad idea? Who you think
will win? And more? Who do you want to see win?
Do you want to see Iron Mike knock out Jake

(38:50):
he's got his detractors or the other way around. Joel Embiid?
Did he go too far? Did the journalists go too far?
Did the NBA do the right thing? Between Joel Embiid,
the journalist, Jake, Paul, Mike Tyson, we got a lot
to talk about, or even the rants. If you've got
something to say and you want a rant and make
up your own subject, have at it. But I think

(39:10):
we got a lot of meat on the bone with
these two topics. Joel Embiid, Mike Tyson, Jake Paul Midnight
Hours up, keep it locked right here. You're listening to
the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Don't listen to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
Okay, we go back on to the Great Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Jim get a starting tonight. I'm sure you've got a
lot to say on both subjects.

Speaker 12 (39:35):
Oh yeah, Bernie. First of all, I'm with Joe uh V.

Speaker 4 (39:40):
He should have.

Speaker 12 (39:42):
He should have even went further. I mean, listen, the
guy bringing up his kid and his brother and stuff
like that. He just wanted to make a name for himself.
And so the player gets suspended and nothing happens to
the writer. I mean, so that's just an open season
now for those those writers do whatever they want, you know.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
So, well, I'm in agreement with you. Uh, it's just
okay to put a kappir on this.

Speaker 13 (40:10):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Did the NBA do the right thing and suspending Embiid?

Speaker 12 (40:14):
No, they shouldn't know to spend because here's.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
Why, Jim, you're your thoughtful guy. If they don't do anything,
then that sends a message to other NBA. He can't
have disparate punishment. So if this guy pushes a reporter
and all of a sudden, the week from now, someone
says something to another player and he you know, pins
him against the wall. He comes back and says, well,
he did nothing to embiid. Why me you got the floor?

Speaker 12 (40:38):
Well just fight him, just fight find him, have those
you know heavily, you know, don't take them out of
the game. You know, it's about the NBA. It's not
about a sports writer, you know. And like I said,
the guy only did that to make a name for himself.
And you know, look at me, and you know it's
just envy. And that's the way it always been. It
doesn't matter what the sport is. Those those people got
to know, no way to draw the line. Nothing happened

(41:00):
to him, So now going forward, what's going to happen.
They can do whatever they want, right.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Fair enough Thoughts on Jake Paul Mike Tyson.

Speaker 12 (41:09):
Oh, I love Mike. I remember, you know, I was
around when Mike was in his heyday. I wouldn't want
to get nary him even if he was one hundred
and ten years old.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
So you see wins the fight. I think you think
Tyson wins the fight.

Speaker 12 (41:23):
I think Tiger some knocks from out inside the two rounds.

Speaker 2 (41:27):
Will you watch it? Will you watch it?

Speaker 12 (41:30):
I don't think i'll watch it. I'm not going to
pay to watch it.

Speaker 14 (41:32):
But you know, well, if you've.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
Already got Netflix, you get it. You don't have to
pay any.

Speaker 12 (41:37):
Oh yeah, yeah, then I'll definitely watch it. Yeah, soup
and watch it?

Speaker 2 (41:42):
All right, good stuff, you appreciate it. You bring up
an excellent point. Uh, you suspend him, which is a
dicey situation. Now, the first game was Friday night against
the Lakers. But let's say he was a kid's birthday
and em Beads finally do to get back on the floor,
and you take him to the one game year in Philly.
He can't play that night because of what happened. So
this is a dicey situation. Stephen Kansas City, welcome in.

(42:06):
Who are you.

Speaker 12 (42:09):
Hey, Bernie?

Speaker 13 (42:10):
I think Joe Dumars did exactly the right thing here.
I mean, as this is textbook. I agree with Fred
van Zliet. You know he said what are you going
to do?

Speaker 15 (42:20):
What do you want him be to do?

Speaker 3 (42:22):
You know?

Speaker 13 (42:22):
He the guy retracted his statement after him Be called
him out. And I think the situation was handled great.
Like you said, it's not.

Speaker 16 (42:30):
Great for a kid who spent his money to go
to go see.

Speaker 12 (42:33):
His favorite player.

Speaker 5 (42:34):
But Joe Dumars had to.

Speaker 16 (42:36):
Do something and he did the right thing.

Speaker 13 (42:38):
I give him credit. He find him a million basically
a million dollars, and that will resolve this situation. If
another guy wants to push a reporter, do you do
you want him pay a million dollars in salary? Let's
you know you're going to pay the price. But but
he I'm not saying he was justified. But like Fred
van Zliet said, what do you want.

Speaker 4 (42:59):
And b to do?

Speaker 13 (43:00):
He called that his dead brother.

Speaker 9 (43:01):
I mean, you're you're going to get a reaction.

Speaker 13 (43:04):
So the Mike Tyson fight, I say, I've seen the pictures.
He looks absolutely in peak physical and mental condition. I
think this is going to be a fantastic uh fight
or exhibition or whatever you call it. I think they

(43:24):
kind of tip their hand. Lennox Lewis said he wants
to fight him if Mike wins this fight, They're going
to have some sort of another senior boxing match.

Speaker 2 (43:35):
Is what you're saying.

Speaker 12 (43:37):
He wants to fight. He wants to fight Mike.

Speaker 9 (43:39):
So so I think there's are you.

Speaker 2 (43:41):
Going to watch?

Speaker 12 (43:42):
Steve is the post Catholic is a is a bear
going the woods?

Speaker 2 (43:49):
I love it? So people? Are people have changed your tune?
Because last February everybody, not everybody, a lot of people
were were sanctimonious. Uh oh no, who do you think wins?

Speaker 13 (44:01):
Who do you think when I think Mike Mike in
the round, round three or four, knockout. It'll take a
few rounds. I remember the quote of a guy that
used to he used to spa against Roberto Duran and
he said, in a sparing session Roberto Duran, that was

(44:23):
the hardest I ever got hit in my entire career
in a sparing session. And that's what Jake Paul is
about to experience versus Mike Mike Tyson. If he can
if he can handle it for eight rounds or whatever,
good on him. But yeah, I'm betting. I'm betting Mike
Tyson for sure.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
All right, sounds good. He's an underd I appreciate it.
Steve Well, the idea is not to get hit. I mean,
Floyd Maywether is fifty and old. His uncle Roger told
him Floyd when he was a kid.

Speaker 9 (44:52):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (44:52):
The sport is called boxing, not punching. You learn to
slip and roll, you learn to move your feet. The
idea is not to get hit. And we'll see if
Jake Paul can do that. He's gonna get hit. Tyrone
Woodley hit him. The key is winning, how often, how early,
and all that good stuff. So I I this is

(45:13):
this is gonna be fun to watch. In my opinion,
we're two for two and the guys that watch a
fight emmittt Olympiat, how are you.

Speaker 6 (45:19):
Buddy, Bernie Frido, how are you doing?

Speaker 2 (45:22):
Man?

Speaker 6 (45:22):
I'm doing good.

Speaker 2 (45:24):
I'm doing good too. You have to call him Sunday
night too, because I'm in for Ben. But that's the
story for another day. All right, all right, what do
you got? What's your favorite topic here? The fight or
the or the joy?

Speaker 1 (45:35):
I actually like them both.

Speaker 6 (45:36):
So I'll start with MBI though, because first of all,
like the first part of the question, like do I
blame him?

Speaker 16 (45:43):
I really don't.

Speaker 6 (45:44):
Man, Like you bring up somebody's dead brother and expect
him to like not react and like not was it
Like I mean, maybe it will have been the more
smarter thing, you know, to just like confront him with
words that maybe not get physical. But like I can't
blame the guy. And second of all, should the NBA.
I actually think yes, because it's like like you were
saying another car was saying it like proves a point

(46:06):
to the media to where it's like, okay, now you
can hit these guys. And you know, the NBA player
from cause suspended. So I think honestly it was a
good move. You know, you got to defend the media
at some point or it's just gonna get real ugly,
and you got to know that, like they're gonna get
in trouble for these physical comments these players. So but
like I want to know, did that reporter get in

(46:27):
any sort of trouble because like I know he like
took back the comments, but did anything happen.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
They just made him he's not suspended, he's not taken
off the Philadelphia Beat. And he also they edited the story.
They had to, they had to re republish your story
and take out that it was the reporter was off.
I'm sorry, I don't like what he did.

Speaker 6 (46:45):
I don't really like what I agree, and I think
you should get punishment. Punishment for it, I mean us.

Speaker 15 (46:51):
I don't know, but yeah, it's just setting a bad.

Speaker 6 (46:54):
Look for the media and they just needs to get
nipped in the butt and he'll probably fine. But the
next thing I want to get into is Mike Tyson.
Now maybe I'm just a young guy hating on the
old guy here, but like something tells me man like that. Yeah,
you can say Mike Tyson's in shape, but like you're
going up to get a man in the prime shape
of his life. So I think it's gonna be a
closer fight than we think. I actually think it's gonna

(47:16):
go the full And as much as I want Mike
Tyson to win, I'm I'm going with the underdog here.
It seems like Jake.

Speaker 2 (47:23):
He's not He's not an underdog. He's a two fifty favorite.
I'm saying, let me tell you, let me tell you,
the more skillful fighter will win this fight on that night,
on that night, and who wants it more will win
this fight. And it's a thinking man sport. I the
age is a factor, but if you don't know what

(47:44):
you're doing, Tyson has has things in his his in
his repertoire that will never leave him, all right, no
matter regardless of his age. Okay, you got the last word,
so I appreciate your honesty if I got you correct.
EMMITTT you think Jake Paul will win?

Speaker 6 (48:04):
Yes, I think Jake, but I want Mike and watching
this fight, of course. I mean it is better than
any Friday night college football game that could you watch it?
So I'm gonna have it on and I hope my
tyson wins. But I'm being realistic. I think Jake Paul.

Speaker 2 (48:21):
If something crazy happens next Friday night, we may we
may revisit this topic or someone can also talk about
it in the rant. All right, we are off and running.
Callers have been excellent so far. I'm pleasantly surprised to
hear that people are into this somewhat. Some think Michael win.
Some Emma thinks Jake paulin, but he'd like to see

(48:42):
Mike win. Pretty objective, strong, good comments about embiid and
making sense. Dave, Jason, Tony Manuel, don't go anywhere. Everybody's
getting in. We certainly want to hear from you. As
the midnight hour continues, I'm Bernie Fratter. We are coming
you lying from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio, Tireck dot

(49:02):
com studios. Keep it locked. You're listening to the Bernie
Frattle Show on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (49:07):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio

Speaker 2 (49:21):
All right, back on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
We are coming to live from the Tarak dot com
studios here in Las Vegas, rocking and rolling on the
midnight hour. Mike Tyson, Jake Paul, Jueli embiid the reporter
who sighed Yon, did the NBA do the right thing?
Give me the rat? Caller has been great so far.
Let's go back out to the phone lines. Dave and

(49:43):
Phoenix joins us. Hi, Dave, how are you very well?

Speaker 16 (49:46):
Bernie? Good to hear your voice. Well, I disagree with
a lot of people I think on both these issues.
The only thing I'll say quickly about Tyson and Jake
Paul is that I won't be watching, and.

Speaker 12 (49:58):
I wish folks could lose.

Speaker 2 (50:00):
But why do you feel that way? Why I mean
this is America. Go ahead, What did you expand on
that quickly?

Speaker 16 (50:07):
Well, I mean when you talk about Tyson, there's a
lot of things you could point to in the past,
whether it's the ear biting or a certain situation off
the court. Let's say, uh, that happened, and I just
don't like the general behavior of either guy. So I
think maybe I'll just leave it there and not go

(50:29):
too much further details.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
I've met Mike a couple of times. He lives here
in Vegas. He was great man, and I look, he's
at his issues. I know. But you know that's onward
and upward. Okay, so we know where you stand on that.
It's it comes see comsaw hell with it? You'll do.
You'd rather mow your lawn, right, So how about let's
talk about the Julian Bee situation.

Speaker 16 (50:50):
Okay? Well, I think and be deserved to be suspended.
I actually read in context what the writer wrote, and
I do not believe that he was being cruel or
disrespecting the dead brother or the young son.

Speaker 2 (51:07):
Well he might not have intended to, but when you
invoke that, I think you could rally PTSD in somebody. Man,
you think about that, Dave, if you're in your brother
and naming your son after your dead brother. You're already
on the ounce with this guy. You're already feeling a
lot of pressure. You can't play or hurt Embeid's a
brilliant player, but he hasn't been six. You add it

(51:28):
all up, put it in a blender, and I think
he was spontaneous combustion.

Speaker 16 (51:31):
Yeah, I think. I think what he was doing was
he was criticizing Embiid for his lack of availability, and
he may or may not have been right about that.
I mean, it's completely possible that Embiid's been legitimately hurt
and didn't deserve to be criticized for that, and I
can understand him being mad if that's the case. But
I think he was then kind of hiding behind his

(51:54):
brother and his son to try to make it into
a huge outrage and make the writer the bad guy.
I would encourage people to actually read it in context
and in full, but I put this situation in with
a lot of other situations where athletes are coaches don't
want to be criticized, they don't want to be asked
questions they don't like, and they respond by abusing the

(52:17):
reporter sometimes even physically. We know Bobby Knight did it
on numerous occasions. We know that Whatdy Hayes punched out
our mutual friend Bob Page.

Speaker 12 (52:27):
You know.

Speaker 2 (52:28):
So there are many Page I got to call them
and ask them about that.

Speaker 16 (52:32):
Absolutely, yeah, Oh my god.

Speaker 12 (52:37):
I believe it has to do.

Speaker 16 (52:38):
With a question regarding in the nineteen seventy four Michigan
State Ohio State game, which Michigan State won in controversial fashion.

Speaker 2 (52:47):
Well, I would say this. Look, I read it in context,
and I think it's a sensitive situation. And you know,
no one comes out looking good out here. But I
appreciate your strong opinions. Dave, as always hear from you again, buddy.
For those who don't, Dave used to listen to my
shows in Michigan as well.

Speaker 17 (53:07):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (53:07):
I think he's relocated to Phoenix though. Jason, now this
is a beaute Jason in Parts unknown? You are up next?
Have you called in on the midnight hour before? No, Well,
welcome in, glad to have you. What do you got
for us? Well, welcome in. Don't be a stranger. What
have you got for us tonight?

Speaker 18 (53:25):
Well, just for the Joel embiid quickly on that one.
Don't watch a lot of basketball. This guy misses a
lot of time anyway, So don't know. Uh, I don't
know what he's not about. But yeah, reporters, you gotta
there's lines you can't cross. You put your family to
put the family's name in your mouth, and you know
sometimes that's that's the line right there for a lot
of people. So I think that's fair three game suspension.

(53:47):
You know, maybe next time it's like that's all I
got for a slap? What do I get for a punch?

Speaker 19 (53:50):
So really not all that.

Speaker 2 (53:53):
He was just more of a shove actually, And just
to set the record straight, I think, uh and be
told to Look, you can dog me, you can criticize me,
you've been doing all that all along, but you bring
my family into it. We got a problem. Go ahead,
Yeah oh.

Speaker 18 (54:07):
Yeah, but yeah, Tyson, Jake Baul thought what I was
going to ask you, Bernie, I've never believed in these
Jake ballfights. They seem they've all seen fake and set.

Speaker 16 (54:16):
Up to me.

Speaker 2 (54:17):
Oh no no no no not not not true, but
not not to cut you off, which I just did.

Speaker 18 (54:22):
Not to That's what I want to know.

Speaker 2 (54:24):
Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, especially it gets Tyson,
Fury's younger brother. That was a real match, and Fury
complimented and me said, dude, I had no idea you
were this good. If you just started out at six
years old like I did, you'd be a top ten guy.
They are not fake you, No. I mean people can
make fun of it unless someone has actually trained and

(54:46):
done this and got into a ring. You it's a
freak show. If you haven't done it in your life,
you don't have no. No. But it's my long winded
way of saying, Joe, no, these are Jason. These were
legiti fights. I got long winded to do.

Speaker 18 (54:57):
Go ahead, you're a big probably have a good idea
on it. But yeah, otherwise though, no, won't. I wouldn't
pay to watch it, but I got Netflix, so I'll
probably check in for about fifteen minutes and put my
money on Tyson. I'm an old guy. I'm forty five,
so I'm rooting for anybody, anybody forty and over fighting
a kid, and I'll go ahead and pick their side.

Speaker 2 (55:15):
So question for you, Okay, so you are rooting for him,
and you do believe Tyson will in fact win.

Speaker 4 (55:20):
I don't.

Speaker 18 (55:22):
Yeah, I don't know about that one, but I'll put
I'll put a few bucks on.

Speaker 2 (55:25):
Him, gotcha, got you? All right? Good stuff, Jason. I
am kind of curious where you from.

Speaker 18 (55:30):
You don't have to tell us, but oh, just somewhere
in Oregon.

Speaker 2 (55:34):
All right, sounds good, Bud, Hey appreciate the call man.
Don't be a stranger, Tony in Miami. Been a minute
where you been, Tony?

Speaker 11 (55:42):
I went to Colombia and came back, Bertie, I'm thinking
about relocating, but since.

Speaker 2 (55:49):
You talked about Columbia, South Carolina, Columbia Missouri or Colombia
the country.

Speaker 11 (55:54):
Columbia the country.

Speaker 2 (55:55):
Okay, I'm not that sparing at all. I mean Columbia's
you know, see New York too. Go ahead, I'm sorry, Tony.

Speaker 11 (56:02):
My my my wife's thicker roguins that we went on
a little vacation. But so so on the Jake Tyson,
real quick, I don't really have anything yet. Just I
won't be tuning in. I really don't care, just like
I wouldn't care to see current day Hakeem and shat
kind of go at it either, you know, it's like

(56:24):
kind of a lost I like Tyson as a person.
I don't like the other guy, because I don't like
anyone that kind of became somebody on social media or YouTube.
But that's all I got on that. More importantly, on
the Joe Allen b.

Speaker 15 (56:44):
I think it's time for him.

Speaker 11 (56:46):
To kind of pack up and move on. I think
it'll get uglier for someone like that. Sadly, he just
this just kind of ran his time out with what
what the NBA is and what it's gotten him. I
don't think the reporter was out of line at all,
and I probably you can't have that. You can these

(57:09):
players in the NBA have absolutely free rain on everything,
and I'm really just sat in by.

Speaker 12 (57:18):
The whole thing.

Speaker 11 (57:19):
I mean, he has what happened was sad with his life,
but you can't take a guy in the corner. And
by the way, if I do pay to see the
seventy six ers Bernie and he doesn't play, can I
then go down to the to the press room and
watch him do something and that includes a beatdown.

Speaker 12 (57:37):
Of the reporter.

Speaker 2 (57:39):
Yeah, now, this is a really good call to for
TONI I would just say this and stay on the
line when you say he needs to move on. He
just signed forty five days ago a three year, one
hundred and ninety three million dollar extension. That's an extension.
It doesn't even start to twenty six, twenty seven. And
that's on top of his one hundred and forty sive

(58:00):
of a million dollar five year deal he signed I
think what three years ago. So I don't know they're
going to move on from him, but I'm not in
disagreement with you that he's been a massive disappointment.

Speaker 11 (58:12):
Bertie, Can I say this and I'll let you go.
I have a good friend in a wheelchair disabled. He's
getting checked. You know, it's fair enough, and you know
he hasn't had to check in once a month and
kind of will somewhat proved that you know.

Speaker 5 (58:31):
He's not well.

Speaker 2 (58:32):
That's fine.

Speaker 11 (58:33):
This is an absolute sad and sickening situation. And I'm
I'm kind of worried for people like that, but not really.
I would say, but it's time for him to move on,
and I'll leave it at that. I'll let you get
back to the other callers.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
All right, that's a really good call, and you're not
pulling punches. I look, you see what we all see.
He never plays Joli. I mean when he does, he's good.
And this whole seventy six er. Debacle has been just
that at debacle. I mean, you know, last year he

(59:08):
played JOLDENBII played a total of thirty nine games. He's
never played more than sixty eight in his career. Ever,
one year he played thirty one, fifty eight fifty one
fifty one. He has not been available. So spot on,
spot on there, Tony. We got to get to the
rest of these calls. We're going to Manuel, Andrew ab

(59:30):
and Ottawa, Poppy Hilberto. Hey, we're getting to all you guys.
Just be patient. We'll be right to you. I definitely
want to hear what you gotta say. Callers have been
outstanding tonight. First we got to go back to another
guy who's outstanding, Kevin Figures with the latest.

Speaker 8 (59:44):
All right, thank you, Barnie.

Speaker 7 (59:45):
We'll start with the NBA action from Friday night with
the Lakers defeating Philadelphia won sixteen to one oh six.
Anthony Davis with a thirty one point effort there for
Los Angeles. Denver had all five starters score and double figures,
including Nicola Jokic, who had his third straight triple double,
and of victory over Miami, Kevin Durant scoring twenty six
points to lead Phoenix to a one point victory over Dallas.

(01:00:07):
Cleveland is ten to zero so far on the season.
They dominated the Warriors one thirty six to one seventeen
twenty nine points each for Shae Yodess, Alexander and chet Holmgren.
As Oklahoma City dominated Houston. You had victories from Minnesota,
the Clippers, and Boston and college basketball top rank Kansas
defeated at number nine North Carolina ninety two to eighty
nine New Mexico, an upset victory over twenty second ranked

(01:00:28):
UCLA seventy two to sixty four. Duke Alabama and Purdue
with victories there. College football Ucla with a win over
Iowa twenty to seventeen, third straight win there for the Bruins,
Memphis a twenty seven to twenty victory over Rice.

Speaker 8 (01:00:41):
You had victories for New Mexico and Cal.

Speaker 1 (01:00:44):
Back to Bernie Fratto, all right, Kevin figures like a pro.

Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
Back out to the phone line. Everybody's going outstanding ladies
and gentlemen, boys and girls, get your popcorn ready. Please
please take a seat, stay seated for the entire performance,
as we bring you the comedic stylings of Manuel in Gardnina.
What's up? Manuel?

Speaker 9 (01:01:06):
Just know not Seleber.

Speaker 12 (01:01:09):
What's up, Bernie?

Speaker 18 (01:01:10):
How you doing tonight?

Speaker 2 (01:01:12):
Always good to hear from you. I'm expecting to hear
from me Sunday night too. I'm sitting for Ben.

Speaker 15 (01:01:17):
Oh you know you will then for sure.

Speaker 18 (01:01:19):
Man.

Speaker 15 (01:01:19):
I went to visit Ben the other night and the
boys and it's good times, good times. So uh on
the topics for tonight, Bernie Joel Embii, he lost me
a few years back when he was crying about being
the MVP despite not winning a damn thing, despite not

(01:01:40):
being a better player than jo Kic. Right when he
went ill cry baby about that, he kind of lost me.
And also he crossed that line we've been talking about
the last two weeks to camp put hands on people. Man,
it just just does it work, not even in society.

(01:02:01):
So I don't know what these athletes make. These athletes
think they could get away with it, you know, or
fans of athletes. But yeah, So lastly on the circus
that is that you know, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.
I've always liked Mike Tyson, but as far as this dorout,
I think I'd rather watch Butter being on a loop

(01:02:23):
or maybe even every which way you can follow punch.

Speaker 2 (01:02:27):
That dude had a big punch. Man, that dude was
freaky weird, butter being the way he moved in the ring.
If you'd been an inch taller, had been a perfect circle,
you remember him.

Speaker 5 (01:02:36):
Oh yeah, big slot.

Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
But he could actually fight. Man, Well, good, nice pull.

Speaker 9 (01:02:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 15 (01:02:42):
So, I mean, you know, it's just chad to see
the state of boxing where it is, that this is
such a big deal, you know, Mike, but is it?

Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Think about it? Think about it. The state of boxing
has been in the toilet forever, and you've got this
marquee fight that people actually are interested in because of
the spectacle of it. It's it's it's a gladiator sport. Nah,
make your point. I kind of cut you off, but
I'm not. I'm not as dismissive of it as you are.

Speaker 15 (01:03:12):
No, Yeah, I mean you're right, Bernie. Boxing has been
in the toy that so long, and this kind of
definitely brings eyeballs for the spectacle of it, you know,
But I don't know. I just can't get behind him, man,
I have for I'm not gonna watch it, and I
definitely ain't planning.

Speaker 12 (01:03:28):
Bag review but.

Speaker 15 (01:03:29):
Hey, man, you guys, keep up the work. Love Kevin Sigg,
Love Brianna, I love you, Bernie Frattle.

Speaker 16 (01:03:35):
How Trow all right?

Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
Thanks man? Well, MANUELO is honest, He's always honest, and
he's kind of really the first guy that definitively said
this is kind of a sham. I know Dave, but
Dave kind of has personal feelings for the for the boxers,
but where Manuel was coming from, and I kind of
expected to hear a little bit more of this that
they're not. People don't really look at this as a
real boxing match in more of a circus. I respect

(01:03:59):
Manuel's Andrew and Bakerfield welcome back in. How are you?

Speaker 17 (01:04:04):
I'm good?

Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
How are you good?

Speaker 12 (01:04:06):
Thank you good?

Speaker 17 (01:04:09):
Okay, So my thoughts on embiid are you know you
are a professional basketball player and you know pull it together.

Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
You know.

Speaker 17 (01:04:24):
You didn't have to push the guy. You can, you know,
tell him what's up. But yeah, I think that was
crossing the line.

Speaker 2 (01:04:32):
And you know what, Andrew, you're measured. I didn't even
bring this up earlier, and I should have, he said,
quote to the reporter, the next time you bring up
my dead brother and son again, you are going to
see what I'm going to do with you, and I'm
going to have to live with the consequences. That was
pretty damning as well. Continue on, Andrew.

Speaker 17 (01:04:49):
Yeah, and then just the second one, I just have
to say, go Mike, Mike Tyson, and then I have
a rant, quick rant. Go ahead, Okay the Bengals, Okay,
if you're gonna go for two, don't let the play
clock go down until zero, call time out. Let the

(01:05:14):
defense catch their breath. You know what I'm saying, Go.

Speaker 2 (01:05:17):
For it, do it.

Speaker 1 (01:05:18):
I think that was the big that's fair to you.

Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
The Bengals explained afterward, uh Andrew that what they wanted
to do was see the defensive formation and then when
they came out, they came in in a different play set.
But you're not maybe, you know, maybe the right in
doing so. They maybe they gave them Raven's time to recruit.
Not gonna argue. Yeah, all right, thanks, thanks Andrew uh

(01:05:43):
Abe in Ottawa you called last week. Good to hear
from you again. What do you got for us?

Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
Thanks?

Speaker 9 (01:05:49):
Good to hear from you.

Speaker 12 (01:05:50):
So with the mb situation, I disagree with some of the.

Speaker 20 (01:05:54):
Callers because I think the suspension was not only warranted,
but probably should have gone a bit there, because, as
you know firsthand from the mouse in the palace, m H.
If the consequences aren't aren't harsh enough.

Speaker 18 (01:06:10):
Then what what happens the next time?

Speaker 9 (01:06:13):
Like this time?

Speaker 20 (01:06:14):
For indeed, the reporter only brought up his brother's name
and his son's name. He wasn't There was no insult
or anything like that. But you have a valid point
for the PTSD. But what happens when another reporter gets
a bit more cheeky and mentions another another player's wife

(01:06:34):
who basically happened to leave him or something like. The
consequences need to the tear from the actions that follow.
And I think that the suspension was justified, and I
probably would have went maybe on five games. Five games
would have probably been enough.

Speaker 2 (01:06:54):
Okay, fair enough. I want to get to all the callers.
You have anything on Tyson Paul?

Speaker 1 (01:06:58):
Uh?

Speaker 20 (01:06:58):
Yeah, for Tyson and Paul, I think, uh, this was
a money grab for Mike. But the thing is, it's
all it's all fun and games and a money grab
until he gets hit once by Jake Paul. And that's
why I think Jake Paul is probably gonna be in
trouble because once you hit once, you hit a rabid dog,

(01:07:18):
you never know what's gonna come next. So I think
I'm gonna be pulling for Mike, and I think Mike
is gonna after maybe the second round, he's probably gonna
turn it, turn it on and unleash what he had
back in the nineties.

Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
Good call, excellent, excellent, good stuff on both issues and
major points. Well thanks, Aby, Poppy and Sandye Way, you
got a forced tonight, Bud.

Speaker 5 (01:07:41):
Hey, guys, I just wanted to say, Bernie, I got
a lot of stuff of you guys haven't listened to
Aunt of four power.

Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
Wait, we gotta standpoint tonight, Poppy. I got too many calls,
but you can call Sunday night, Poppy. I got I
gotta stand, Poppy. I don't want to cut you standpoint,
big fella. I want to hear about Jake, Paul, Mike
Tyson and Joel Embiid. I got too many calls to
get to I just got to stand. We got to
stay on topic, Okay, Bud, Yeah, I.

Speaker 5 (01:08:06):
Get it, Bernie, But you know, I just wanted to
show love to my men for Ben. But look, I'm
the Jake Paw. I'm surely understand a Fox Family. But look,
I'm the Jake Pauw Mike TiSER. The problem with these
young cats they don't understand and they don't know this generation.
That's the problem. They don't listen, they don't know Mike
Tyson what he's gonna do. I'm getting you guys a
free stick right here. Pretty well, Mike Tyson's gonna not

(01:08:28):
call Jake Paul and he's gonna win and we're gonna
make that money back. And dang you guys wanting to
see why Mike Tyson is a king and Fox and
Shake Paul. I was watching that at Netflix show Uh
Bernie and he couldn't even beat him. And then Nintendo
Game Bernie. I kid you not, so.

Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
You never know what happens so they get in the ring.
But I appreciate you. And by the way, I love Ben.
I talked to Ben today. Ben and I go back
twelve years, so we're good on that. I just I
just want to make sure we keep things tight. Hell
calling Sunday, we got we got a lot of calls
to get to and I what do you got to
say on Joel Embiid anything, poppy?

Speaker 5 (01:09:04):
I do, Look, Joel Embiid, people are like criticizing them
with you know, with the media and stuff like that.

Speaker 13 (01:09:10):
But good Bernie.

Speaker 5 (01:09:11):
My conspiracy theory is that reporter did that on purpose
to provoke them. And now everybody knows about the reporter,
you know what it was doing. He was triggering him.
He got triggered because we don't know Joel emb what
he went there when he was in Africa. You know,
we're all judging them. Only God can judge them. We
was probably bare put it and he didn't have no food.
And this reporter was talking about his brother who was

(01:09:32):
not the way rest empie and of course that's going
to bring emotion and do something to react. So like
if you haven't been in that situation, only God can
judge them. And that's my take. And good job on
Joel embiid pushing them. I think Adam Silbert is gonna
put like boundary where you guys can't talk about family
members for the players so can get good reactions. Thanks
for the time, Bernie.

Speaker 2 (01:09:53):
All right, Poppy, fair, fair enough, phil Berto in San Diego,
you're up next. What do you got for us?

Speaker 4 (01:09:59):
Well?

Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
Any two movie?

Speaker 14 (01:10:03):
And Moien listen on the Joel and build thing. He
shouldn't have done it and and and that's when I asked,
where was the manager, Where were the people around him
to protect the player, especially from the media that don't
he knows that when they win championships, Dave Manure of
the Street, those fans imagine what the media does in fairly,

(01:10:25):
that's one of the toughest crowds. And the guy hasn't
won anything.

Speaker 2 (01:10:29):
Well and yes, and I think he acknowledges that I listen.
And this this is not the first time Marcus has
been critical of Joel Embiid. Where Embiid to Conbridge was
and he he referenced his family.

Speaker 14 (01:10:43):
Go ahead, Okay, well he has to learn and and
and like another color said, he had to move on
from that from that city and that team. There's no
place for him anymore, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:10:53):
And he just got that big exten go ahead.

Speaker 14 (01:10:56):
Yeah, well he can go to another team.

Speaker 15 (01:10:58):
I'll take him with the Clippers.

Speaker 2 (01:10:59):
I don't care, all right, anything quickly on Tyson Paul.

Speaker 14 (01:11:05):
Yeah, like I told you about five months ago, I
just hope that Tyson nails him. I think you're you
were you were a boxer. You know a lot about boxing,
and those skills do not go away. That punch never
goes away, and if Tyson gets him with one of

(01:11:25):
those punches, it's gonna be fun.

Speaker 5 (01:11:28):
I would like to you.

Speaker 2 (01:11:29):
You bring up a great point, Hilberto. In this sense,
it's a chess match. Tyson's gonna size him up, and
that punch may come from a counter where Jake Paul
lightly loads up that right hand and doesn't catch Tyson,
and Tyson slips out of it and steps into a
combination from starting in his body and then in his head.
And so you're and you're not wrong at all, Alberto.

(01:11:52):
That doesn't go away, that power doesn't go away. If
he catches him, it's gonna be hell to pay. But
you got you got the last word.

Speaker 14 (01:12:00):
Well, and now I just want to say, keep having
a great show. Okay, I love your show. I listen
to you every week Fridays and Saturday, sir, and I
will listen to you on Sunday with instead of Bennie.

Speaker 2 (01:12:13):
Feel free to call in appreciate Alberto as all. We
thank you so much. We got to get to everybody, Rob, Eric, Bryce,
don't go away. Definitely want to hear from you. Callers
have been terrific tonight, very candid, not equivocating, giving strong opinions,
and that's exactly what we want. I'm Bernie Fraddlewick. Come
to your line from Las Vegas, Fox Sports Radio, Tireck
dot Com Studios. Don't go away. You're listening to the

(01:12:35):
Bernie Fradle Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right, back
on the Bernie fraddle Show, Fox Sports Radio. You're wrapping
up on the midnight hour. Their callers have been outstanding
as always. Joel Embiid versus the reporter. Who's in the right,
who's in the wrong? Did the NB do the right thing?
Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson. Will you watch who's gonna win?

(01:12:56):
Who do you hope wins? You get the drill, Robert Orlando,
you are off next. Good evening, Bernie. Great to be
on with you again.

Speaker 9 (01:13:05):
Good to have you Mike on the Mike Tyson Fight. Man,
What an awesome opportunity for us to see, you know,
for us old heads to go against a young fighter,
you know, in the social media area era. Excuse me,
I think it's fantastic. It's an exhibition. Let's take it
for what it is. Let's enjoy Tyson one more time.
Obviously he's not in his Prime. But it's like watching

(01:13:28):
Tiger at a major.

Speaker 15 (01:13:28):
You know he's probably not going to win.

Speaker 9 (01:13:30):
But in this situation, I think Tyson'll knock him out
in the first round.

Speaker 2 (01:13:34):
So do you bring up an excellent point? And I
think what you're implying is what he Allen said it best.
Nostalgia is a trap. Who would want to see Tyson
one more time? Why not? What are your thoughts in
Embiid and the reporter?

Speaker 9 (01:13:47):
I think everybody's kind of hitting all around the real
deal here tonight. Bernie Money's plays a factor into this.
I think the fact that Embiid has been heard or
taken awful lot of games over the years. He disenfranchised
himself from the city. I think when you're beloved by
a city and in a journalistic base, that journalist is

(01:14:09):
going to go out of his way to protect you
as an athlete. If you're not, and you disenfranchised yourself
as I said, then they're not going to take the
same liberties of protecting you as they might otherwise. And
I think that's the real issue.

Speaker 2 (01:14:23):
That's such an insightful point, Rob. I wish I had
more time I got to get to everybody. Don't be
a stranger outstanding. Uh Eric in Boston, you're up next?
Is this your first time calling in?

Speaker 10 (01:14:34):
It is my first time calling in?

Speaker 2 (01:14:36):
Good have you? What do you got?

Speaker 10 (01:14:38):
Here's my deal, Sydney Steele. I'm a I'm a huge
Boston guy. I'm a Celtics fan left and right and everything.
And we know we hate Philadelphia, we hate New York
and honestly we kind of hate La too. But uh

(01:14:58):
we loved, we loved Hey.

Speaker 12 (01:15:01):
But this one, uh uh no way.

Speaker 10 (01:15:06):
It's somebody says something to Douce to you know, Jason
Tatum's son, about Jason Tatum or anything, and someone wanted
to I am with Joelle and be to here. And
I don't think I would ever say, like way back
in the day buffet, I would ever take a six

(01:15:30):
or side.

Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
All right me, I'm up against it a bit. I
want to get to one more caller after you quick
thoughts on thank you? With quick thoughts on Tyson and
Jake Paul.

Speaker 10 (01:15:40):
Oh Tyson is going to destroy him?

Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
Are you? Will you watch the fight?

Speaker 10 (01:15:45):
I'm I'm forty years old. I I saw Tyson. I
saw and also also a huge McNeely fan.

Speaker 2 (01:15:54):
To beat him, I gotta I gotta manage the clock here. Uh,
we do the every Friday night. Eric, don't be a stranger, Bryce,
take us home, Bryce in Texas, start with whatever you
want to start with.

Speaker 19 (01:16:06):
You gotta be time indifferent to the Tyson fight. I'm
just gonna give a shout out to Cocoa Golfer Records
representing America in the WTA.

Speaker 2 (01:16:15):
Okay, that's fair. Anything on Embiid and uh and the reporter.

Speaker 19 (01:16:19):
I don't know what the hell we're talking about.

Speaker 13 (01:16:21):
Tonight.

Speaker 19 (01:16:21):
The reporter brings up a legacy that Embiid with Lee
for his son, and it's who he named after his
dead brother in honor of him. And we say that's professional,
but we blame Embiid for not being professional. Like I
don't I don't get it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
Like, ah, well, but there is no hard and fast answer.

Speaker 19 (01:16:40):
Go ahead, yeah, when you he went beyond criticizing Embiid
for his professional career, he got very personal with him.
Nothing's happening to the reporter. He's going to continue to
cover the Sixers games. How does this fall on beads,
shoulders and his only play? That makes no sense to me?

Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
All right, Bryce, I appreciate it, man, It's a complicated situation.
Darryl tweeted in he said, look, they're both in the
wrong embiid can't get physical, although you can't imagine it's
pain and frustration. He buried his brother, his brother named
his son after him. But the earlier caller, man, what
a great point. They don't like him beating that town anyway.

(01:17:22):
Well people do, but he's not available. Great job, folks
on the calls coming up, movie time, keep it locked.
You are listening to the Bernie Frattle Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:17:35):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:17:38):
Well, that's right, you heard the man. Bernie Frattle Show
keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie Frattle. We
are company line from the tarrac dot com studios Fox

(01:18:01):
should be. Well, if you've listened to me, you know
I have talk movies for twenty years plus in my
time on the radio because there's a great intersection between
movies and sports, and that's why we've created this segment,
It's time Breeze three.

Speaker 1 (01:18:17):
Not one, not two, but three, amazing sports. It's entertainment.
It's good, It's Breeze three. All right, take it away, alrighty.

Speaker 21 (01:18:30):
So, with the NFL trade deadline happening earlier this week,
I thought of like athletes that traded in their like
gear and decided to like make an appearance and like
trade their talents and go into like the big screen.
So and like obviously athletes that either made like appearances
or a starred in movies. So I went chalk For

(01:18:50):
my first one. I went Kareem Abdul Jabbar in Airplane
in eighteen eighty, obviously the role of co pilot Roger Murdoch,
and you know, he was trying to play it off
like he really wasn't the whole time when the little
kid was asking. And that role was originally written for
Pete Rose, which I didn't know, but obviously they offered
it to Kareem and he was offered thirty thousand dollars

(01:19:11):
for his appearance, but he only agreed to thirty five
thousand dollars because he had his eyes set on buying
like this oriental expensive rug and so like that was
the only way that he was gonna take the role
for that movie. So that's kind of interesting.

Speaker 2 (01:19:27):
Wow.

Speaker 21 (01:19:28):
And the second movie, I went, He Got Game, Spike
Lee and ray Allen starring in the movie. Spike Lee
originally wanted Kobe to play the part of Jesus Shuttlesworth.
But because like Kobe had just got off like his
rookie season and he obviously hadn't done so well and
especially like the airballs and the and that loss against

(01:19:48):
the Jazz, he didn't think it'd be like a good
idea to like step away from basketball and start acting
and you know, go Hollywood on after his rookie season.
So ray Allen was actually chosen for the part. Also
in that movie, Rick Fox and John Wallace they actually
played on the team that ray Allen was on, so

(01:20:08):
that was a little bit interesting.

Speaker 1 (01:20:11):
And then the third movie, I went.

Speaker 21 (01:20:13):
Brett Favre and there's something about Mary, So I just
thought that was just kind of like, you know, just
something fun. And he's one of the guys, you know,
obviously one of the four guys that you know, everybody
just loved. Cameron Diaz nineteen ninety eight is such a
like peak time for her right before like my best
friend's wedding. And so the Farelli brothers, they weren't like cheeseheads,

(01:20:34):
so like Brett Farv wasn't obviously their first choice. They're
like from New England, so they wanted Drew Bledsoe, but
he was injured at the time. And they also approached
Steve Young, but he turned it down because like he
didn't believe the content was like great for his image.
So Brett Farv, you know, agreed to the role. So

(01:20:55):
those were my three. I went airplane, he got game,
and there's something about.

Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
And of course, uh, Brett Favre had the legendary line
when they had Brett Farr, what are you doing in Miami?
I'm here to play the Dolphins, dumb ass. The thing
about Ray Allen too u and that was, you know,
he played across Denzel Washington. Yes, so they even played
one on one basketball. And of course just one quickie
about Kream Abdul Jabbar that was actually filmed before Magic

(01:21:26):
joined the Lakers, and Jabbar was a dog. He didn't
get back on defense and the movie wasn't released till
the following July after the Lakers won the championship. But
that line still played about not getting back on defense,
and he grabbed a kid. Tell that to your tell
that to your tell your old manager Walton. Yeah, Bill,
I can't talk Walton and Lanier.

Speaker 21 (01:21:49):
Go ahead, down yeah, down the court like I've been
hearing that since you one of my days at U
c l A. And let's like he broke character. But yeah,
so those are my three, I'll go Mark.

Speaker 8 (01:21:59):
Oh, so uh.

Speaker 22 (01:22:02):
What I always try to do with the Breeze three
is attempt to give movies that maybe bree hasn't heard of.
So my first one the actor Jim Brown. Now the
movie he was in The Dirty Dozen, so he and
there's a bunch of others that I'll try to mention
with the honorable mentions. And then my next person is

(01:22:24):
Alex Carris and the movie I'll bring up is Against
All Odds, but there's a couple others. And then another
one is this guy Fred Williamson, and he was in
the movie Mash.

Speaker 8 (01:22:36):
So those are the.

Speaker 22 (01:22:38):
Three that I brought up because you know they're Jim
Brown's a big actor, activist, Alex Carris also had webs
of the TV show, and Fred Williamson another activist but
a great actor, So I guess I turned out.

Speaker 2 (01:22:51):
I also played for the Kansas City Chiefs in Super
Bowl one Mark, which is what they used Fred Williamson.

Speaker 22 (01:22:56):
That was the part that they used in Mash because
he was a football player in the movie, the original
Mash that the movie part, so right, right, right, So
I guess I turned it over to Kfe.

Speaker 7 (01:23:06):
All right, So Brie did take a couple of mine,
but it's all right. Add a few reserve breeds, so
it's all right.

Speaker 8 (01:23:11):
I'm gonna go with.

Speaker 7 (01:23:12):
Speaking of a former football players, John Tusac was in
a coming of age movie called The Goonies back in
the day, very popular.

Speaker 2 (01:23:19):
Goonies.

Speaker 7 (01:23:20):
Was great John Matusac, great player with the Raiders, turned actor.
I was in a couple of other films, I believe
as well. Not an athlete, but certainly one of the
great legends in all of sports, Bob Uker and played
a phenomenal role in Major League. And so we're talking
about iconic lines. The iconic line for him is all right,
one hit, one hit, one g D hit, you know,

(01:23:40):
and of course.

Speaker 8 (01:23:45):
Perfect. Yeah, I love that one, and so yeah, I
was gonna do. He got a game with Ray Allen
that was a good one.

Speaker 7 (01:23:49):
But I'm gonna go with Carl Weathers from from Apollo,
Creed from the Rocky Movies, Iconic Brinane.

Speaker 2 (01:23:55):
Great, great research by everybody. I mean, this is really, really,
really good stuff. I had Bob Yucker. You've already talked
about that Major League became a franchise. Bob still knocking around.
Oh yeah, he's like ninety years old, and you know
he makes fun of his playing career. He actually hit
a home run off Sandy Kofax once, but a phenomenal

(01:24:16):
comedic chops and everybody loves the Major League franchise of
course with Charlie Sheen. But Bob Ucker made that movie.
I thought what it was? All right, we'll take you
to Vegas. The Hangover came out in two thousand and nine.
We were just talking about Mike Tyson earlier. Mike Tyson
had a pretty prominent role in that movie with a
tiger right. Remember he drills Zach gallifan Akis with a

(01:24:38):
left hook and the gut and one of his guys,
I like Mike Tyson. He's a nice guy. Jack gallifan Akus,
I think he's mean. But Tyson was kind of funny
in that movie. He's actually got good comedic chops as well.
I'm gonna go off script a little here. I wasn't
really a fan of the remake, or check that I

(01:25:00):
got off track. I was a big fan of The
water Boy with Adam Sandler. Well, guess what was in
that movie? Lawrence Taylor. He played himself the great aunt
Lawrence Taylor. And you know, there were so many athletes
that were in movies. I came close to name and
Reggie Jackson and the bench warmers as well, But that
movie was so stupid. But anyway, let's go around the
room talk about you know anything else people want to
talk about, you know, anybody else's movies.

Speaker 22 (01:25:23):
Well, I was going to bring up that with Jim Brown.
There was one called Tick Tick Tick where he played
a sheriff in a small town because he was the
big deal was he was a black sheriff and a
racial small town. And though so they hated the idea
of the black sheriff being there. And when I mentioned
Alex Karis against all odds, Blazing Saddle absolutely and Victor Victoria.

Speaker 2 (01:25:48):
Mongol, he played Mongol and Blazing punched out a horse right.
Animal rights groups protested.

Speaker 22 (01:25:54):
They're crazy over that and the other people I was
going to bring up with Gina Carano for Deadpool. I like, oh,
then then there's Lynn Holly Johnson from Your Your from
Your Eyes Only, a James Bond movie, and I brought
up because I like her, Susie Chaffey, Susie Chapstick from
the TV from the commercials, and she made a ski

(01:26:14):
movie that was a big deal. So those are the
my honorable mentions.

Speaker 2 (01:26:17):
You know, it's funny because a lot of athletes want
to be in movies. You know the old joke rock
stars want to be athletes. Athletes want to be rock stars.
Win Mont, you're rich, Richmond want to be king athletes.
James James Gandolfini said when he was filming Sopranos, he
get three calls a week, and Lawrence Taylor was in
that as well. He people wanted to you know, be
in uh uh, you know, in in in the Sopranos

(01:26:41):
as an athlete. Everybody remember when Bubba Smith was in
Police Academy.

Speaker 22 (01:26:45):
I had that on my list, but I just go
ahead for I shot it down to just those because
of guys, you know, you're between you and like Lawrence,
you want to start with you. But Terry Bradshaw was
in Cannonball Run and Failure to Launch.

Speaker 2 (01:27:01):
Oh that was a good That was a hilarious wee
was that Matthew McConney and.

Speaker 23 (01:27:04):
Sara Jessica Parker and then yes, Andrea the Giant was
in Princess Bride, right, and then Bob Yucker Major League
and the other one I was thinking about, Oh, Hulk
Hogan was in a Rocky so.

Speaker 21 (01:27:16):
Of course, right, right right, And then I had Lawrence
Taylor and any given Sunday, Yes and yeah, so that one,
and then Dan Marino and a Sventura.

Speaker 7 (01:27:29):
And I know his quote unquote starredom and he wasn't
a star, but he played for the University of Miami
and won a national championship before going to professional wrestling.

Speaker 8 (01:27:38):
The Rock but the Fast and Furious series.

Speaker 7 (01:27:40):
I mean, among many other films, but I feel like
that's his biggest, you know, hits, or his biggest hits
when it comes to Hollywood.

Speaker 22 (01:27:47):
And The Rock was in The Scorpion King. He wasn't
Scorpion King from the Mummy series.

Speaker 8 (01:27:50):
He absolutely was. Am I dishonorable mention list Shaq and Kazam.

Speaker 1 (01:27:56):
And blue Chip, though how about okay, because then we try.

Speaker 8 (01:28:00):
To forget about it, and.

Speaker 2 (01:28:03):
I couldn't because I didn't watch it. Uh Lebron in
the remake of Space Jam, but Jordan did the original
Space Jam. It didn't do anything for me, but it
was commercially very successful.

Speaker 7 (01:28:13):
You know, Bernie came out when I was a child,
and I loved it, and I watch it now when
I cringe.

Speaker 8 (01:28:18):
So it's one of those He's terrible.

Speaker 7 (01:28:21):
What I agree, I'm someone who could I am not
a film officionado at all, and as someone who fashions
themselves as such, I am shocked.

Speaker 8 (01:28:29):
How do you think that that's good?

Speaker 17 (01:28:30):
No?

Speaker 21 (01:28:30):
No, And I'm not saying like he's Academy Award winning actor.
I'm just like, it's not like the best job I've
ever seen. But I mean he's an athlete, Like that's
what I expect from him, you know.

Speaker 7 (01:28:42):
What I mean, as someone who's a perfectionist and you know,
works as hard as he does to be as great
as everything as he possibly could be, as Michael Jordan is.

Speaker 8 (01:28:49):
I just felt something was lacking.

Speaker 21 (01:28:50):
Well, Kobe would have done.

Speaker 2 (01:28:51):
Like two, appreciate everybody's researching candor.

Speaker 22 (01:28:56):
Quickly too, go ahead, Mark Wilbur Wilson from the Bears
was a guard in The Fugitive with Harrison Ford.

Speaker 2 (01:29:05):
Oh alrighty, well listen, that's that's the everybody's research is
really good. We haven't mentioned oj Simpson. He was in
a lot of movies, Towering Inferno, the Police Squad movies. Oh,
you actually had some acting chops he did? Was he
they actually you know, obviously he's a Hall of Fame
football player, et cetera. But the point is he actually

(01:29:26):
could act a little and in a lot of these
you know, we are we acknowledged the athlete for their
role in the movie, but not necessarily for their acting chops.

Speaker 22 (01:29:37):
All the Hurts commercials, Yes, yes, he had.

Speaker 2 (01:29:40):
That was a big brand for him. All right, go ahead, Brie.
Anything else, No, I don't think so.

Speaker 21 (01:29:47):
I mean going back to like Lebron and that. I
didn't see the space him that second one. But he
was also in train Rack with Amy Schumer and.

Speaker 2 (01:29:54):
Bill Saturday Night Lift.

Speaker 21 (01:29:56):
Yeah, all right, yeah, sounds good things, guys.

Speaker 2 (01:29:59):
Great job every but you appreciate the participation, appreciate the
cross talk, appreciate the research. Look, everybody loves movies, and
we get some good movie buffs here the whole crew
and appreciate everybody's effort. By the way, Rapid Radios are

a referee problem? Well, you think there's been some incorrect calls.

(01:31:53):
You think there's been some inconsistency. Has there been some inaccuracy,
Has there been gamesmanship? Is there lack of leadership? Perhaps
you believe, in your view, officials have underperformed, and of
course they can blame it on high turnover, low morale,

(01:32:13):
the pressure. The NFL's officiating department reviews every game from
each of the seven on field positions, and they use
tablets to watch video game situations to make their grades. Now,
if you saw the game Thursday night, depending on who
you were rooting for or depending on what you wanted
to see happen, you're going to have a different perspective.

(01:32:36):
That's why these things sometimes can be subjective and frankly,
when it comes to I don't know on certain penalties,
I don't know if there's a universal definition they're supposed
to be like, for instance, the face mask. Face mask
is simple prohibits players from illegally touching an opponent's face mask.

(01:32:57):
You can't grasp it, you can't control it, can't you
can't turn it, you can't push it. You certainly can't
pull an opponent's face mask. If you grasp, if you
grab the face mask, you must immediately release it. But
by the letter of the law, according to the NFL,
you're prohibited from illegally touching and opponents face mask. Well,

(01:33:20):
watch the replay of what happened Thursday night between Cincinnati
and Baltimore. There has been plenty of reports that have
intimated that the Bengals were hosed not on one call,
but three calls. Three calls, and the Bengals lost on
an ail bitter final thirty five thirty four. Yeah, they

(01:33:42):
blew a twenty one to seven lead thanks to four
Baltimore touchdowns. But since he gets the ball back with
less than two minutes to go in the fourth quarter,
trailing thirty five to twenty eight, and that's when the
that's when I think the officiating troubles began for the Bengals.
The referees missed a very penalty on Baltimore defensive tackle
non dian Abuki, who grabbed the face mask. Well, if

(01:34:06):
you look at it, did he grab it, did he
let go? Did he grasp it? Did he? But he
made contacts. So by the letter of the law, you'd
want that called. If it was your quarterback, the running
Jokers have had had been Patrick Mahomes, it would have
been called. Now this is this is where the issue is.
What you know, I don't want to go back and

(01:34:28):
watch the whole game, but let's face it, did the
referees or this crew make that call earlier in the
game if the same thing would have happened, Did they
or didn't they. It's like an umpire in a baseball game.
If the first pitch is above the eyes and the
umpire calls a strike, second pitch is above the eyes,
the empire calls it a strike. Okay, you kind of

(01:34:50):
know this umpire has got a you know he's got
a strike zoning from those to toes. You want consistency,
which is the biggest problem that we have in the NFL. Well,
because I've seen that called what happened to Joe Burrow
last night? On the face mask? Second and ten from
the Bengals thirty yard line. You can watch it. It's

(01:35:11):
all over Twitter, it's all you can find it easily.
Do you think Joe Burrow should have been granted a
face mask penalty? He was kind of stoic in the
postgame interview, He goes, I didn't expect the call because
I never get these calls, all right, that's kind of
code for other guys would have gotten a call. So
instead of an extra fifteen yards and a fresh set

(01:35:32):
of downs, the Bengals they're stuck on third and ten,
but somehow they persevered and they picked up the first
down two plays later on a fourth and ten, and
ultimately the drive would culminate on a touchdown pass from
Joe Burrow to Jamar Chase, and they were thirty eight
seconds remaining in the game, scores thirty five to thirty four.
But then all of a sudden, when the Bengals decided

(01:35:54):
to go for a two point conversion instead of kicking
the pat and playing for overtime, well the fun began again.
You can pick your side. From where you sit is
where you stand. You can give your opinion. But once
again the referees became the show because on Cincinnati's two
point attempt, Joe Burrow fired an incompletion to tight end

(01:36:15):
Tanner Hudson, but a closer look at the sequence showed
the refs might have missed two more penalties against the
Ravens on just the one play. First of all themngals
and they're tight in MIKEA SICKI watching now this one.
I watched through or three times. He was held by
Ravens linebacker Trenton Simpson. It was on the other side

(01:36:36):
of the play, on the left side versus the right side.
But by the letter of the law, you could argue
that should have drawn a flag for defensive holding. A
lot of contact to the receivers during the two point
attention did the two point attempt. There was also a
lot more obvious miss around the same exact moment when
Burrow got hit late in the head and neck area. Again,

(01:36:59):
the NFL suit for a billion dollars by Baltimore defensive
tackle Travis Jones. After throwing the pass, I've seen it
called a thousand times. I realized no one particularly likes it.
But that's what happens when you sue the NFL for
a billion dollars. By the letter of the law, you
could argue, and I'm certainly certain people listening in Cincinnati

(01:37:22):
right now are saying, yeah, you're damn right. That should
have been a roughing the pass or penalty. It also
went called by the refs one, two, three. Now, had
either penalty on the two point attempt been called, the
Bengals would have gotten another chance to convert half the
distance of the gold in this case the one yard line.

(01:37:44):
That would have opened up the playbook. Maybe you throw
another pass, maybe you run another play, or maybe you
run up you know, you march in a run play. Meanwhile,
the missed face mask callback and thrown thirty yard line.
Even if the Bengals ultim but overcame it, it cost
them yardage, it cost them energy, momentum, and oh yeah,

(01:38:05):
it cost him time on the clock. That happened. Mengals
ran three more plays before they got that first down.
I guess you could say it evened out since the
first half the Ravens they fell victim to some dubious
calls themselves. So in summation, the one thing we knew
on Thursday's game, from start to finish, once again, it

(01:38:28):
sure as hell felt like the referees were screwing things
up and fans they're getting tired of it. By the way,

ham string injury. Washington running back Brian Robinson is out
against Pittsburgh with the hamstring injury as well. Jaguars quarterback
Trevor Lawrence listed as questionable but it's unlikely to play

(01:40:09):
according to head coach Doug Peterson as they take on Minnesota.
He is dealing with a left shoulder injury. Back to
Bernie Fredo, Okay, thanks, Kevin, appreciate you, Bud. We covered
all on the Bernie Frattle Show, including the sport they
call football and they.

Speaker 2 (01:40:25):
Spell it Futbol. We bring you Christophet's World of Soccer.

Speaker 24 (01:40:31):
The greatest goals, the thrilling finishes, the international drum.

Speaker 1 (01:40:44):
Ye, it's all here in this report from the world
of soccer.

Speaker 25 (01:40:51):
Well, Bernie, still quite some interesting games going on in
the world of soccer, especially in the MLS Cup Saturday
having the game three of most series out there, as
there's been some.

Speaker 1 (01:41:02):
Surprising push and pull in this first round.

Speaker 25 (01:41:06):
But it is the ten game mark of the Premier League,
which is, as we've talked about before, generally where we
get to know where and how teams will perform, and honestly,
in a lot of places where they will we expect
to finish barring some really miraculous runs. But usually around
the ten twelve game mark or so is usually about

(01:41:27):
where we get to know who these teams are. So
it's a good time to review what's been going on
the Premier League. No surprise that as we looked to
the top of the table after ten games we see
Liverpool and Manchester City.

Speaker 1 (01:41:40):
Now what is surprising is Liverpool in a.

Speaker 25 (01:41:43):
Year where they were on a lot of expiring contracts,
with saying a farewell to Yurk and Klop their longtime manager.
There was some questions about whether arn Slott, their new manager,
could keep things up or if it was just kind
of a caretaker as Liverpool started to wind down their
golden generation that had earned them a Premier League title
and European honors. However, with coming into the weekend with

(01:42:06):
twenty five points, Liverpool sits a top of the table
and has been the shock of England and shock of
the soccer world, not maybe as shocking to some, of course,
you look at the talent that's around this Liverpool team.

Speaker 1 (01:42:19):
This ability has always been there.

Speaker 25 (01:42:22):
But as I said, this was supposed to be the
twilight years for the core, for Mohammed Salah, for everyone
else who's on their roster, and instead they have roared
out with a thirteen goal differential coming into the weekend.
They're off to an incredibly strong start coming into the weekend,
Mohammed Salah with seven goals, Luis Diaz with five, and

(01:42:43):
everything seems to be working for the men at Anfield.
Barring a midseason collapse, they are still on pace for
a top four finish, if not the Premier League title itself.
Their main competition in this regard will be Manchesters City. However,
Manchester City has had a couple of days here in
the past couple weeks that have not really been up

(01:43:04):
to their performance and in multiple competitions. Tottenham Hotspur kicked
them down to one in the Carabao Cup, then in
a weekend of Premier League action Bournemouth beat them to one,
and then top that off with this week's action here
in the UEFA Champions League in a four to one

(01:43:24):
route by Sporting CP, a Portuguese side. And in case
you have forgotten, the current manager of Sporting CP, Ruben Amarin,
is due to become the manager here later in the
month at City's crosstown rival Manchester United. It has been
three results that are very uncharacteristic for a team we

(01:43:45):
have watched dominate, dominate, dominate, dominate, dominate, and it all
comes as this tribunal hangs over their head about violations
to the Premier League's financial systems. And let's be clear,
at the end of the day, they still have one
of the best players on the planet in Earling holland
one of the best young players on the planet, but

(01:44:06):
it's not really been up to their standard.

Speaker 2 (01:44:09):
Now.

Speaker 25 (01:44:10):
Granted, in all of this, when we're just talking about
the Premier League. That just means they've dropped one match
of those three, but it's indicative of a little bit
of a rough sledding area from Manchester City. However, at
twenty three points, only two behind Liverpool seven wins to
their eight, they are still in a very good position.
Now there's a bit of a golf here. There's about

(01:44:31):
a four point golf after Manchester City coming into the weekend,
and it's where we find a ton of teams all
bunched up. Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, Arsenal, Astonvilla, Tottenham, hats for
all have five wins coming into the weekend and a
very big match up this weekend between four and five
Chelsea and Arsenal on Sunday, and it's very good to

(01:44:54):
see Chelsea back in the mix here, especially after some
time in the wilderness. Now with all of this is
that it is a very very tight amount with very
few points separating everything, and this is where a lot
of the drama will happen as we start to get
into the later season. We expect one of these teams

(01:45:14):
to start to separate themselves from the pack. Could it
be Arsenal who has been so close the past two
seasons to a Premier League title. Could it be Chelsea
trying to get back on the come after plenty.

Speaker 1 (01:45:26):
Of years in the wilderness, under a new.

Speaker 25 (01:45:28):
Ownership situation and with a lot of course managerial turmoil,
But that's you know, natural for Chelsea. Their player, their
midfielder Colt Palmer, has had quite the quite the start
to the season seven goals for him, but he's dealing
with some injury woes coming into this Arsenal matchup. While
Tottenham Hotspur might be on the outside looking in, their

(01:45:50):
fortunes have finally started to look up with a pretty
good eleven goal differential. The only two teams better than
them is Liverpool and Manchester City. They've been on kind
of on the wrong side of a couple of these
losses in some very backbreaking ways, but they're starting to
find their footing in the post Harry Kane world and
their manager at Pasta Cogloo has said that the Premier.

Speaker 1 (01:46:12):
League feels more open, there's more.

Speaker 25 (01:46:14):
Top teams slipping up and unfortunately for Tottenham that's kind
of meant in the past them and indeed they've only
gone about fifty to fifty in their last four matches,
dropping a one nil game to Crystal Palace and a
three to two match to Brighton Hove and Albion in
very bonkers fashion, losing a two.

Speaker 1 (01:46:33):
Goal lead in that game. It remains to be seen.

Speaker 25 (01:46:37):
If Hotspur can show that they are serious for all
us and what about the smaller folks. What about Nottingham Forest,
who has been a story what we saw come up
a few years ago from promotion that they could possibly
hang on for dear life and really start to build
off of the phenomenal early season performance of their forward

(01:46:58):
Chris Wood with eight goals, and they've been on absolutely fire,
scoring three goals against Lester than three goals the next
week against west Ham United to move up here. And
they prepare to square off on Sunday against Newcastle United
for a critical game to keep a stride all of
the giants and Aston Villa, who has been very sneaky

(01:47:19):
in the top four in past years. Not club we
really talk about too much now. They did qualify for
the Champions League this past year, but I wonder a
little bit if that's taking some of their attention away
because they've just looked fairly uneven when they come back
for Premier League play. Yes, they did beat Fulham a
while back, but you know they had the draw with Bournemouth,

(01:47:40):
they lost in the Caravell Cup, they got drubbed for
one by Tottenham. It just seems like their attention is
kind of all over the place right now and they've
just got a tough schedule coming forward now. Past Tottenham,
it's a bit of no man's land. Brighton and Hove,
Albion resign there, Fulham RESI there, Bournemouth, who's been kind
of sneaky reside there. But you're starting to get into
clubs that have close to zero or even into negative

(01:48:02):
goal differential. Manchester United coming into the weekend down thirteenth
on the table. We talked last week about all of
their problems whatsoever. I think they will, however, avoid the
relegation zone because that is saved for some just clubs
that have just been really struggling. Ipswich Town Wolverhampton have
both failed to pick up a single victory so far

(01:48:24):
coming into the weekend, and Leicester City once again struggling,
Crystal Palace struggling even more. And I think that promising
era is starting to come to a close. There that's
going to do us from the world of soccer.

Speaker 2 (01:48:35):
Bernie.

Speaker 1 (01:48:36):
A lot going on.

Speaker 25 (01:48:37):
We'll check back in the MLS Cup playoffs as they
move on to the next round after this weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:48:42):
We'll see you soon. Stay blessed.

(01:49:08):
the Bernie Fraddle Show, and we remind you there are
three Well, there are a lot of college football games
Saturday later today, but there are three you absolutely do
not want to miss. I love this new playoff format
because it's brought a dynamic that didn't exist before. One

(01:49:28):
of these games is being billed as an elimination game,
and they both got two losses in the past when
the writers decided they'd have been eliminated that stupid BCS,
they'd have been eliminated already. And even the four team
TV Invitational made for TV Invitational Department of Redundancy Department.

(01:49:50):
They'd been playing this game for pride, but not now.
It's an elimination game. And I'll tell you exactly why.
I'm Bernie Fraddle. We're coming to your line from the
Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio ti Ira dot com studios.
Keep it locked right here. You're listening to the Bernie
Frattle Show at Fox Sports Radio. All right, we're wrapping
it up on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Come to you live from the tyrak dot com studios

(01:50:12):
here in Las Vegas. Before going any further, I want
to thank my broadcast team back in Los Angeles. They've
been with me since eleven pm Pacific time on Friday night.
Mark Ramsey our technical producer, Brianna Muro our executive producer,

(01:50:34):
and Kevin Figures on the updates, turning all the dials,
keeping us blue together, bringing us to the updates, and
keeping the show flying. Like Mark likes to say, a
great job. Everybody appreciate everybody's hard work, everybody's dedication, and
I appreciate everybody's commitment to making sure we have a

(01:50:54):
tight show, professional show. It's funny radio is It's not easy.
The trick is making it look easy. So all the crew,
the trio, very good, very good job. By the way,
I will be back on these airwaves again on Saturday
night at eleven PM. A lot to talk about. I
promise you that, as we had into another raucus NFL weekend,

(01:51:16):
wrap up, a college weekend, and there's lots of stories
in the news I didn't necessarily get to tonight that
I will get to Saturday night, some involving Major League Baseball, certainly,
some involving the NBA, and some just involving high jinks
in the world of sports. I will also be on
the airways. Ben Mallor is in Kansas City, and so

(01:51:37):
I'll be pinchating for Ben. It will be, believe, my
eighteenth Ben Mallor Show that I'll be doing with Eddie
and the crew Sunday night, and we've got some fun
stuff planned there. We cut loose a little bit there
on the Ben Mallor Show, and you'll be part of that.
All right this You know, you heard my little goofy

(01:52:00):
rant at the beginning of the show about people complaining
about this new playoff format, and I like it because
as opposed to the past, when you had voters voting,
and you had this goofy bcs and then a four
team made for TV Invitational tournament when you had five

(01:52:21):
Power Conference teams. This is going to be the Saturday
on the field. So if you're pissed off that BYU
right now it might get a bye because they win
the Big Twelve. And I get that the Big Twelve
is not as good as the SEC, well, then hell
and the SEC will get four teams in the Big
Twelve will get one. You get it. I'll revisit this
again Saturday night. If BYU lose the Utah, it's going

(01:52:42):
to be moot. But one of the reasons the SEC
is so powerful in terms of they shouldn't feel slighted
about this tournament is because Alabama visits LSU Saturday night,
seven thirty pm Eastern Time, and it's going to be
a doozy. Alabama is a two and a half point favorite.
This is effect that a college football playoff elimination game

(01:53:02):
because both Alabama and LSU have two losses. Now, see
if this has been played last year. Once they get
their second loss each, forget it, they're done stick a
forking them. But now with this new playoff format, this
becomes a de facto playoff game. Reason number sixty eight.
I also like this new playoff format, even though you're
pissed off about by you, I don't get it. Decide

(01:53:22):
it on the field. Hey, you think Florida State would
like this format? From last year they won the ACC
Now we know what happened. We don't need to go
down that road, but think think about it. The annual
game between LSU and Alabama has always must see TV
because they'll play for pride anyway, and they would That's
what they would have been doing up until this year.
This year is no exception though in terms of the

(01:53:45):
importance even more so. And keep in mind both teams
are coming off bye weeks. Kalin Debor and Brian Kelly
they both feel I think major pressure to win this game.
LSU last lost last week to Texas A and M
gave up thirty eight points. It didn't look good. Alabama's
lost two of its past four games. They had a
shocking upset to Vanderbilt, which may not be so shocking

(01:54:07):
as you see Vanderbilt and Diego Povey is pretty good,
and then another one to Tennessee, both of which were
on the road. Alabama finds themselves on the road, the Tigers,
the Crimson Tide, a racus crowd, Death Valley. Saturday night,
they get crazy down there in Baton Rouge Tay where
Elsey get crazy. You might not think so. It's been

(01:54:27):
a while since the Holy War has been played. Yeah,
twenty ten, but BYU hopes to stand defeated to travel
to face ar Trivel Utah in a game again that
hasn't been played in fourteen years. Now, You're gonna have
to stay up a little later in the East, but
why not ten point fifteen kickoff Eastern Time. The Koogs

(01:54:49):
sitting pretty in the college football playoff picture, firmly atop
the Big Twelve standings. Unless something happens, which is always
possible head coach well Colonne, they could find themselves as
a conference champion in the Big Twelve in the twelve
team field, not only getting to the playoffs, they would
have a buy Now. Utah had all kinds of potential

(01:55:10):
the start of the season, but they just simply haven't
had Cam Rising. Good player. I think he's on his
eleventh year at Utah. Ok fag would have to look
that up. Might be his thirteenth year. He's gonna win
the bj Armstrong a war on Google at knuckleheads. Look,
Utah is riding a four game losing streak. Their last
outing they lose seventeen to fourteen in Houston. Houston's not
a good team. I saw UNLV beat their butt when

(01:55:32):
I was in Houston or Layby day weekend. Here's the
point I'm making you throw all that out now, because
this is kind of a de facto playoff game for
BYU as well and for those who remember the Holy
War back in the day. When these two teams get
on the field, I'm telling you it is a war,
maybe a Holy war, but it's a war, and whoever

(01:55:53):
starts is going to have their hands full. For Utah
against the solid BYU defense or third, they got more
interceptions the country. Colorado and Texas Tech mays around that one.
The Big twelves unpredictable. Should something happen to BYU, Colorado
has a path actually winning the Big twelve, especially when
you got your Door Sanders running the offense. I expect

(01:56:14):
him to put up some big numbers and love it.
The Big twelve's worst pass defense Texas Tech giving up
three hundred and eight yards a game. Sanders leaves the
league in passing efficiency, touchdowns and he's only throwing six picks.
That kicks off four o'clock Eastern time. Colorado four and
a half point favorite. So there's your triple header Georgia
and Ole Miss too. Yep, that's going to be a

(01:56:36):
doozy as well. Watch them all. College football is here,
the playoffs have sort of started. I love this new
twelve team format. It's going to do it for the
Bernie Frattle Show. I will be back on these airwaves
Saturday night at eleven pm. We'll see you in in
the meantime, keep it locked up next The Fellas on
