Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, that's right, you heard the man. It's that time
of week. My name is Bernie Fridda. We are company
Line from the Fox Sports Radio studios here in Las Vegas.
Another rocket show planned. We'll take up to three am Pacific,
six am Eastern. And before we go any further, the
most important thing, Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers

(00:25):
out there. Take care of your mother. You only have
one mother. I lost my mother on February eighth, twenty
twenty three, and you never stop thinking about it. Trust
me on that one. Of course, I do have my
wife who's a phenomenal mother as well, and Happy Mother's
Day to her and all the mothers. So take care

(00:46):
of your mothers. Now's the time. There's so much to
get to and this is gonna be a fun show because,
especially the midnight hour, we're gonna get into that gray
emotional area where we have perspectives on people's behaviors in
the world of sports that managed to overshadow the games

(01:07):
on the floor, on the court, on the field, if
you get my drift. I've really enjoyed these NBA playoffs
so far. They've been frankly raucus, and they've been physical,
and they've been hotly contested. When we've had five situations
already where what the team has come back from a
twenty more than a twenty point deficit, but today, you know,

(01:29):
it was frankly rather anti climactic. For my money, right now,
the one series that it's actually got my attention more
than any other is Denver Oklahoma City because for the
second consecutive game, even though Nikola Jokic that's three time
MVP Nikola Jokic, it would easily be five times MVP.

(01:51):
Nicola Jokic has looked pedestrian immortal, and you give Oklahoma
City and their physical, smothering DS defense credit, right And
even though Jokic was only eight of twenty five from
the floor, he actually turned the ball over eight times,
which is, you know, rare for him. But guess what,

(02:13):
Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Junior and Aardon Goren all
stepped up, which and I'm looking forward to talking to
Mark Medina. What I'm seeing now is just more of
an indicator of truly how far away the Lakers are
from doing anything. And we're gonna get to Lebron too.
It's funny. There's an old saying in life. Some people
have something to say and some people just have to

(02:36):
say something. And when Lebron is not asked, he likes
to talk, and when he's asked, he doesn't want to talk.
We're going to unpack that and that's going to be
part of our bend that hour as well. Meanwhile, the
flip side, you know, okay, see with the phenomenal regular season,
they're finding out the postseason a little different. MVP finalist
Shay gilgess, how will he respond in Game four after

(02:56):
his you know, pretty piss poor performance in Game three,
eighteen points on seven to twenty two, you know, always
settling for tightly contested jumpers. He was not able to
slither in and out of the paint. This is the playoffs.
The playoffs are real. And I enjoyed both games today.
But again and he climbacted. I mean, if if if

(03:18):
Golden State and they almost did it and Lebron Lebron
if drama, you know, Draam had a real chance to
step up and be a leader in the last couple
of games. Files out today, you get the picture. Steph
Curry's absence is just incredibly sorely filled, and so that
we'd have a story if Golden State goes up on

(03:40):
men in Minnesota two to one, but they don't, and
that you know, you can stick a fok of them.
I realized that them meeting Golden State, I realized Curry
might be back game six. He went down with a
hammy in Game one. The Warriors have competed voiantly, but
without him, they didn't make a single three and the
first half Saturday, even though the Timberwolves offense struggled and

(04:04):
both teams, you know, did not look good early, and
you know they both kind of found life in the
second half and comes away with thirty six points, does
what he does. And then you got the other you
know that you got the knicks right, That would have
been a story had they gone up on the defending
champions three zip. But the Celtics win. It comes from

(04:25):
an all around team effort. Give them credit. I was
blown away as at the m Resort today at the sportsbook.
And even though Boston trails the series, or they were
trailing the series two zero heading into Saturday's game and
going on the road, I'm sure they were two and
zero New York this year in New York's one and
three in the playoffs at home. Still mightas won thirty

(04:47):
five to win the series, even though they're down two
and going on the road. I'd be a little worried
if I were Knicks fans right now if the Celtics
even that up. Give it up to Peyton Pritchard twenty
three points a career playoff high, Jason Tatum, who I'm
a big fan of, twenty two points, Jalen Brown. You know,

(05:07):
on the boards scoring. The Knicks still lead this series,
but Boston got They got back to their identity after
going twenty five or one hundred from three point land
in the first two games. They were twenty to forty.
They never trailed. They were led by as many as
thirty one points. Hule Hum, whole ham hule home. Okay. See,
all of this is being overshadowed now by a certain

(05:29):
individual in the NBA who wants to remind us how
smart he is, how great he is, how successful he is.
He's a four time champion, he is a successful man.
But true greatness needs no self promotion. When you have
to tell me how smart you are and how great
you are, what that leads me to believe is once
again the the someone has inflamed the passions of an

(05:53):
insecure man. And you know who I'm talking about. You know,
years ago he was kicking people in another region. Now
it's just he just lacks he lacks impulse control. It's
as simple as that. I mean, here's a guy, with
all due respect, who has the audacity to scream and
cry woe is me to the world, and I'm a victim.

(06:14):
And yet when you consider the body of work going
back ten years, remember kicking Steven Adams in the Western
Conference Finals in twenty sixteen in another region, and he
was fine and then ended up getting suspended, And many
feel that had not been suspended, the Cleveland Calves never
would have gone up or never would have come back

(06:34):
from three to one in that series. That was Lebron's
championship in Cleveland. He went back to Cleveland delivered. Yes,
he punched Jordan Poole in practice, had a scuffle with
Herb Jones a couple of years ago, tremendous body of
work suspended Game five of the NBA Finals in twenty
sixteen after his altercation with Lebron James. Then two years

(06:56):
later he was suspended for his altercation with his own
teammates Kevin Durant. It was in the final seconds of
a regular season game against the Clippers. Draymond grabbed a rebound,
although Durant was calling for the ball. Draymond went coast
to coast, driving into traffic, turned it over. The Warriors
didn't get a shot off. They lost in overtime, but

(07:16):
not before Draymond and Durant had a heated exchange on
the sidelines, and that argument carried into the locker room
after the game and has been acknowledged by both Green
and Durant as a turning point in Durant's eventual departure.
So Durant helps his team to four championships, and he
hurts them as well. Impulse control. You see a pattern here.

(07:37):
Twenty twenty three, suspended for a season long technical filed him,
and I remember he had the audacity to sit there
in a press conference during the twenty sixteen finals said
I'm not stupid. I know if I get one more technical,
I'm suspended for a game. Well, if you're not stupid,
why'd you get that many technos in the first place.
You don't have to tell us you're not stupid. People

(07:57):
don't have to say, oh, Draymond's he's a really smart guy.
You know, all the years I've been a fan and
covered the NBA in an official capacity, I don't care
whether it's Jubbar, Julius, Serving Bird, Magic, Jordan, Kobe Jack.
These are elegant, interesting, aeradype guys, formally educated, and no

(08:24):
one ever had to remind you they were smart. You
already knew. So why do they do this with Draymond
and Lebron? It's gratuitous. In the twenty twenty three season, Green,
thanks to a long body of work, was given a
one game suspension without pay for collecting a sixteenth technical
foll of the year. No, under NBA rules, a coach

(08:48):
or a player is automatically suspended. You get one game
once you get your sixteenth foule during the regular season.
But he's smart right Later on that year, remember Draymond
was suspended for stepping on Demontis Sabonis's chest during a

(09:09):
playoff game. The NBA suspended in one game that was
in the series against Sacramento, Green was ejected from the game.
Replay showed obviously he planted his foot directly on Sibonis's
chest after getting tangled up, and he used Sibonis as
a springboard to jump up and down to get on
the court. Yeah, he's pretty smart. Impulse control. How about

(09:32):
later twenty twenty three, suspended five games for putting Rudy
Gobert in a headlock. November fourteenth, twenty twenty three, Klay
Thompson and Jade McDaniels had a little dust up and
Draymond inserted himself into the dust up, and he grabs
Rudy Gobert and puts him into a choke hold. Yes,

(09:53):
you know, they were all suspended, but Draymond the body
of work once again. Impulse control all right. Oh. Later
on in twenty twenty three, which appears to be his
banner year, suspended indefinitely for punching Usif Nurkic just thirty
days after his dust up with Rudy Gobert, Green got
the headlines again for all the wrong reasons. He swung

(10:13):
his arm around. Sure it was accidental, just like it
was the other day that elbow flying left. You're not
that stupid. You probably are that stupid, but you knew
what you were doing, and you act like he did.
Is bad. Acting. Maybe take an acting class while you're suspended.
Green and Nurkic were both physical with each other. I
get it, But Green swung his arm, and whether the
officials determine that Green's actions were excessive and they adjected

(10:36):
him impulse control. And because he had been suspended five
games just four weeks earlier, the NBA chose to suspend
Green indefinitely, forcing him to meet certain conditions before his return. Ultimately,
he had twelve games, cost himself one point eight million.
But I get it. He's smart, and yes, remember in
Hole's control. So here's a guy who doesn't want to

(10:59):
be labeled. But he has a long history of suspensions
in the NBA, and his propensity for technical fouls always
puts him at a risk at another and he hurts
his team. He's helped his team. There's no question Draymond
Green is a great basketball player. He checks a lot
of boxes. Superb defensive player, great passer, court sense, he'll

(11:21):
score when you need it, Defensive player of the year.
But his antics. I'm telling you, man, this guy and
now he's worried about being the victim. We're gonna get
to this in the midnight hour. For the record, Draymond
Green's been suspended six times in his NBA career and
he's received two hundred and twenty seven fins. But he's smart,
right because he told us, Yeah, impulse control. That's the

(11:44):
operative word tonight, Draymond impulse control. There really isn't anybody
else quite like Draymond Green in the NBA. Whether you
consider him loose cannon, a defensive stalwart, or something in between.
Green has proven two things. He does know how to
play winning basketball, but his temper and his impulse can

(12:04):
carol or lackter of has cost him and his team
on multiple occasions, including this year. Hey be sure to

All right back in the Bernie Final Show. Fox Sports Radio.
Come to live from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio
Studio to take you up to three am Pacific six
am Eastern. We're just getting started. It is, of course,
our favorite time of the week. The NBA playoffs are raging,
plenty of off the court news as well. Three simple words.

(13:33):
It's that time. Medina Magic, Mark Medina, our Fox Sports
Radio NBA guru. You hear them every Saturday night on
my show. Fifty two weeks there. Mark, Good evening.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
How are you, Bernie? I am good, Very quiet NBA
week though not much to talk about.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
No, we're gonna have to dig deep at our journalistic
proclivities to figure something out before I get to the playoffs,
because they have a couple of real takeaways. I want
to flesh something out with you, because you know, we
always have to start with the Lakers in some form
of fashion. It's about Bronnie it should be, but I'm
gonna put that on the back burner. It one day.

(14:10):
We'll just do two hours on Brownie Bryce and uh,
you know whatever. Anything named James.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Matter is what the people want.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
That's that. That is absoutely what the people want. And
right and those clicking sounds across the nation you just
heard where radio radio is being turned off. Anyway, all right,
Luka Doncic can't sign any extension until August second. He's
got three options. He's got that two plus one. He
could get a five year deal up to four eighteen

(14:37):
if he wants to. He could sign a four year
deal that goes into effect twenty six, twenty seven. Get
I think that brings him like two twenty nine. Or
he could opt out, or he could he could play
out his currency. He's got one year left and then
sign a five year for two ninety six. Which of
those three do you expect him to do? Or is
there something else in the offering we don't know about?

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Yeah, you know what, Luka don has publicly said this.
He hasn't thought about it. He was just thinking about
the season. But I don't think there's any signs that
he's not going to return with the Lakers. I don't
think there's any signs that he's not going to commit
to that long term. So I think that is going
to be about this. He do four years, five years.
He wants to be a Laker. As much as he

(15:19):
obviously was disappointed and surprised and hurt that the Dallas
Mavericks traded him to the Lakers, it wasn't because of
anything to do with the Lakers. It was just the
fact that he thought he was going to be the
Mavericks franchise cornerstone, especially after being in the NBA Finals
last summer. But once he I don't want to say
he got over it, because it took some time, but

(15:40):
once he absorbed the reality that he's playing with the Lakers,
he's playing with Lebron James, he has a chance to
win championships. He's been embracing it, and he's also embracing
being part of the city of Los Angeles. It didn't
take him long for him to announce that he was
going to donate a lot of money to the victims
that were affected with the LA wildfire earlier this year.

(16:01):
So you know, the really the uncertainty or just you
know what the small details in the contract look like,
but the larger details is that he's gonna be a
Laker a long term.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
As you observe these playoffs, and I mean we've had
five games now where there were twenty point comebacks, We've
got Look, i mean we've got three the conference leaders. Right,
the Cavs are down two to one, the Celtics down
two to one. Okay, SE's down two to one. As
you observe these playoffs, you like me left for the

(16:32):
impression that the Lakers are much further away, even that
we might have thought. When you consider Golden State is
essentially competing with Minnesota. They're down to one like the
Lakers were with Pretty they don't have Steph Curry. I'm
looking at this tournament and saying, Wow, the Lakers are
even further away than I thought. Your thoughts. I don't
mean to lead the witness, which I just did.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
Well, you know what, I always know how to testify,
so it's all good. It's an interesting question because I
think when you compare Steph Curry and Lebron James. Steph
Curry's ad a better point in his career because he's younger,
still playing an all star caliber level. But I think
that Steph has more ears left than Lebron. But as
far as you know, what I've seen the playoffs, is

(17:16):
that further cement that the Lakers are far behind. No,
not really, and I say that fully admitting and arguing
that the Lakers had an underachieving season this season. I
didn't expect them to win a title. I expected them
to at least get to the second round, and there
was a chance they could go further only because the

(17:37):
Luca and Lebron chemistry has been really good and their
defense was surprisingly elite after losing Anthony Davis. But after
the Luca trade, I always thought that this trade was
a bridge for the long term. It wasn't about, you know,
the missing championship puzzle piece. I wasn't like, you know,

(17:58):
when the Lakers got Palgo Saw and you know, he's
paired with Kobe Bryant two thousand and eight and that's
all they need to win a title. That team was
very much different. Kobe still in his prime, They had
a lot of great other players around him, you know,
Andrew Bidham, Derek Fisher, lamar odom Here. In the Lakers case,
it was Lebron eighty and a bunch of good but

(18:19):
not great role players. So they do have a tall
task in front of them, but really it's just about supporting.
It's about improving the supporting cast. And once they do that,
I don't want to say they're the heavy championship favorite
just because of their age with Lebron, but they would
be right back in the mix.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
My moles tell me that the Lakers may make a
run at Nick Claxton. He checks a lot of boxes.
Would Brooklyn part with him? Is there a deal to
be made there?

Speaker 4 (18:49):
Well, I think there's a deal to be made if
the Lakers are willing to sell the farm. And that's
the challenge that the Lakers are going to go through
because you know, Lebron, James and Luca dodgege aren't going anywhere.
But where do they draw the line of making everyone
available but still having some roster depth. And you know,

(19:10):
the signals that the Lakers have been given is that
they view Austin Reeves. I wouldn't say it's untouchable, but
it's part of their big three. I mean Rob Holenka
in the season named press conference talked about them as
if they were a trio, and even though Austin Reeves
had a disappointing postseason, he said that that didn't negatively

(19:33):
change his view of how he played, which in the
regular season was a lot of growth career high showed
that he and Luca Dodge can coexist well together and
that Luca actually needs a player like Austin because it's
another additional score, another additional ball handler, and a guy
that maybe is an elite defender, but he can still

(19:56):
get after and make all the hustle plays. So at
the same time, the Lakers have made it clear their
priority number one is to get a center, so Nick
Claxton's on that list. I just don't know where they
draw the line on who they're willing to give up,
because everyone is available with exceptional Lebron and Luca, but

(20:16):
with Austin Reeves, I think it would require a superstar
player for them to be willing to part waves with
Austin and then with RULEI Atchamora, he would be available,
but it would have to be someone that is that
moves the needle, and Nick Claxton Yeah, he's he's good.
He upgrades them at center, but he's not necessarily a

(20:38):
game changer.

Speaker 2 (20:40):
Well it's twenty good shot. Locker can do the Lob
deal under contract for three years, so there's stability there.
But you know, I don't care. I don't. I don't care.
If they can bring back Wilt and they're not going anywhere,
I'm stay I'm sticking to it. Most of my hot well,
I don't. I don't know what a hot take even means,
but most of my bold statements have frankly ca sairly
at let's go to Steph Curry mark he's going to

(21:04):
miss at least two more games. He might come back
in game six. Is it too little too late? Are
they cooked? Are are the Warriors cooked?

Speaker 4 (21:11):
Not too little too late? Only because the Warriors have
a lot of equity. That was a close game that
they had tonight in Game three obviously Minnesota one. They're
a really good team. I mean, we've talked about it
ever since the first round when they beat the Lakers.
This isn't just a young and up and coming team
that you roll your eyes at. No, they're a legitimate team.

(21:33):
But the Warriors, they do have a chance to bounce back.
They played really reasonably well in Game three, and they
can play even better in game four. And with Steph Curry,
his timeline's unknown, but you know there is a chance
he comes back in game six, and that obviously changes
a lot of things. So I think this playoff series
is going to go the full seven and really, if

(21:56):
you go either way, I mean, obviously Minnesota's in the
driver seat right now. I would pick them to win.
But I'm not going to discount the Warriors right now
because they got Jimmy Butler, great score. He led Miami
to the finals two years ago with a worse roster
than he's playing with right now. Kraymond Green, he's got
to avoid the technicals and that's a whole other conversation,

(22:17):
But defensively he's been good. That foul call he had
got where he fouled out was I thought ridiculous at
the end of the game, and you saw Jonathan kaminga
play a lot better than he was earlier. So yeah,
they're still encouraging science. They're not done.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
Yet, all right, So what do you make in these playoffs?
So far? The Cavs are down two to one. The
Thunder's down to one, the Celtics down to one, and
so on and so forth. It's been your biggest takeaway, Well.

Speaker 4 (22:44):
The biggest takeaway is that there's a lot of parody
in the NBA, and some people might like that. You know,
every team has a chance, small markets have a big chance.
Some teams, you know, some fans like the Juggernauts. But
it's made for compelling basketball. It's made for a lot
of addictable finishes. It's made the people that follow sports
because they want to make money on it. I'm sure

(23:06):
stressing them out a little bit. So a lot of
stuff going on what I make of the teams, though,
I think with Cleveland, Indiana has played really well. Tyrese Haliburn,
you know, came up in the clutch and showed that
he's a really good point guard, good passer. But I
think a lot of it had to do with the
fact that Cleveland wasn't fully healthy. I mean, they had

(23:29):
very important injuries with Darius Garland and Evan Mobley and
DeAndre Hunter, and they're not fully one hundred percent back,
but they were back for Game three, so that makes
a difference. And Donovan Mitchell has been pointing out of
his mind. So this could go either way. But I
think Cleveland's going to take this series because of kind

(23:50):
of the momentum shift of better health, while you know,
everything else can really be a coin flip as far
as what happens between the Celecks and the Knicks, Warriors,
Wolves and thunder Nuggets.

Speaker 2 (24:03):
I've enjoyed it. I think it's been raucous. It's been
physical and been contested, so we'll see. You know, I
don't disagree with any of you said I have to
dress Draymond Green. I mean, this is a guy I've
been suspended six times to hundred and twenty eight finals
in his career. Look, I'm wondering, here's where the angle
I'm going. Where the hell is the commissioner. Years ago

(24:28):
when Dominkin sue a team I covered, still connected to
the Detroit Lions, had several issues. You know, about ten
twelve years ago, he stepped on Aaron Rodgers. He did
another region deal three or four incidents, and finally Roger
Goodell just called him to New York and said we
got to talk. And it kind of worked for a while.
That it did, But the Dominican zuo straight and straight
down for the rest of his career. You know, he

(24:49):
was fine. Where is Adam Silver in this? It's not
good for the NBA product when you got a highly
visible player. So again i'm leading the witness. Is Adam
Silver at all going to and have some sort of
input here?

Speaker 5 (25:03):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (25:03):
Hell, intervene if Draymond Green gets two more technicals, because
that means he'll have to serve a you know, a
game suspension. He's not going to intervene right now. I mean,
he's been called for technicals and that's that. And you
know some of the technicals the naz Red incident, you
know that I don't think was intentional, but it was

(25:24):
above the shoulder, so the referees called it accordingly. And
you know, I was surprised how much rope the referees
gave Draymond you know, when he was arguing after that. Yes, yeah,
I mean I think that those officials specifically thought, you
know what, like, I don't want to throw a key

(25:45):
player out in a key playoff game over this. But
I think if it was another player, he would have
gotten more, he would have gotten less rope. But I
think the ironic thing about Draymond throughout his career is
he's had games where he's been treated like a superstar
or an all start player, like you know what we
just saw, and then there's been times where he's been

(26:07):
hit by his reputation because you know, the officials have
just gotten over his annex and his emotions and all that.
So it's very unpredictable. The other thing with Raymond that
I feel compelled to address, you know, when he was
very upset after the game, you know, the other night
and saying, you know, you all are making me out
to be an angry black man. Two things can be

(26:30):
true here. The Minnesota Timberwolves acknowledged that, you know, there
were fans in the stands yelling racial thing, you know,
racial slurs at them, so that's indefensible, unacceptable, But what
happened on the court had nothing to do with that.
You know, he made a bad found Osrid. He's getting

(26:50):
very frustrated with the officials, so for him to put
the two and two together, it's very disappointing. You know,
you know, the fans that say those things, it's unacceptable.
But a lot of the criticism towards Raymond has simply
to do with what he's doing on the court, with
being too demonstrative at the worst opportune times. And the

(27:11):
thing with the Warriors, they obviously don't like that, but
you know, they're pragmatic about it. They very well recognize
that he's a great defender and the good vastly outweighs
the bad, and when he does get out of line,
they try to restrain him a little bit. You saw,
you know, Steph Curry go up to him and pull
him back. Steve Kerr made the quick substitution putting Jimmy

(27:34):
Butler in the game so that Draymond could get another
technical and we had ejected. So it's not like the
Warriors are naive to all this. They've just made the
practical decision that good outweighs the bad, and they're at
like any professional sports team, they care about the bottom
line results and that's that. But it's a very frustrating
thing that they've dealt with basically his whole career.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
Absolutely talking with Mark mndin and Medina Magic every Saturday
night on the fort to show our Fox Sports Radio
NBA Guru. A little later in the show, I'm going
to give the folks the rundown on the NBA's most
recent anonymous player. Poll. But obviously, in retrospect, the choice
of Tyre's Halliburton, I mean, the most overrated players seems

(28:20):
to ring somewhat hollow. I think I know what the
rationale was, but how do you respond to that?

Speaker 4 (28:27):
Yeah, I thought it was interesting. I mean it was
I believe the results. But I think what we need
to keep in mind here is that there were a
lot of players that were polled in the poll, not everyone,
but there were fewer people that answered the overrated question. So,
you know, I think it was like thirteen players that
viewed Tyres Haliburn as overrated, so it's not a lot

(28:48):
of people. The fact that players are still saying that, though,
I think it says something and I think there's a
few things on pack here. I do wonder if there's
some competitive, you know, some professional jealousy. I mean, he
made the Olympic team last year. He didn't play it
at all, really, and you know, there's a lot of controversy,
whether it's Jalen Brown or Kyrie Irvy not making Team USA.

(29:10):
Like dude, players like that feel a certain way toward him.
The reality is Tyres Haliburton had injuries during Team usay,
so he wasn't available, and you know, they had a
pretty stacked roster. But you know, I talked with his trainer,
Drew Handling earlier this week about it, and it didn't
sound like he or Tyree's really paid much mind to it.

(29:31):
And he made it clear like he's not overrated. He
views him as the best passer in the NBA, one
of the best point guards in the NBA, and he
impacts winning now. At the same time, Drew, you know,
told me, and he's someone that gets on him a
lot because he's a type of trainer that really tries
to motivate his clients. He always pushes him about being
more aggressive. He feels like he's such a great passer

(29:53):
that sometimes he's too unselfish and you see him not
always looking for a shot. He's always pushed in him
to be more and more aggressive. So when you're looking
at these two games, in games one and two, he
was very aggressive. In game three, he wasn't. He was passive.
So I think it's a fair conversation that Tyres could

(30:14):
be more consistent, he could raise his game to another level.
But to say he's overrated, I mean, that doesn't really
make any sense. He's an ulter power player.

Speaker 2 (30:23):
Well, I agree. Look a total of ninety votes for
cast on that particular and over twenty five players got votes.
Not Halliverton got the most votes. I'm I'm going to
apply some context to this later in the show. But
the theory was that he got too much credit for
the playoff run last year when they knocked off Milwaukee

(30:43):
and they were missing Yiannis because of an injury. But look,
there were so many players that got votes. Said, I
think a lot of this is a little personal. So
that's just my quick thought. Hey, last thing, real quickly, Mark,
So give it up. I think you called it that
Kenny at Atkinson would be Coach of the Year, probably deserved.
Jamie Bickerstaff might have gotten my vote, But I started

(31:04):
to pay a lot of attention to Joel Mazzoula. He's
he I'm curious about him. The more I observe him,
the more I like him. Why does not why does
he not get more love in the media as being
a truly good coach?

Speaker 4 (31:17):
Well, I think he's gotten more in love than before.
I think there was a lot of weight and to
see when he took over, you know, you know, through
pretty unexpected circumstances with Emi Adoka being pushed out because
of an inappropriate relationship with the organization, and he really
helped the Celtics catch to the finals, and even though

(31:38):
he's part of coaching staff as his first head coaching gig.
I think he earned his stripes obviously last year winning
the championship, but I don't think he was ever considered
to be a Coach of the Year only because they've
already been so successful last year. I mean, Phil Jackson
arguably could have won Coach of the Year every single
year saving with Greig Popovich, and they didn't really do

(32:00):
it because they've been winning so much. Usually the Coach
of the Year award goes to a coach that you know,
changed a rebuilding team into a playoff team, or when
you're looking at Kenny Atkinson with the Cavaliers, they're a
playoff team and now they are a contender with you know,
a huge improvement in the wing column. So I think

(32:20):
that's what it is. But Joe Mazzola great coach, a
great basketball mind. He knows how to push his players
and you know, really have a good mix of motivating
them and nit picking them but also empowering them. Uh,
and that's a really tough thing for head coaches to master,
but he's done a good job with it.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Mark great stuff, as always, already looking forward to next week.
I just wish James Johnson was in the playoffs, and
I wish I wish Draymond would try to k came
in the nuts and watch that's James Johnson's a black
belt in karate and that would be fun to watch.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Well, it would certainly be a WWE type performance, but
I us we'll have to wait another time for that.

Speaker 2 (33:02):
Your mouth to God's heres, Mark great stuff, already looking
forward to next week.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
Buddy, Well likewise, appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (33:07):

I don't good about things.

Speaker 8 (34:25):
Yeah, I'm really excited. I just think, like I said,
I'm all in on the next I might get a
m caelbridge's jersey. I'm not gonna lie the white one.

Speaker 7 (34:33):
I don't know number.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
What number is?

Speaker 8 (34:35):
See by the way, Yeah, that's a great question.

Speaker 7 (34:37):
So do you do you then do you then become
a breed?

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Anie? Let me see her.

Speaker 7 (34:42):
I'm sure I could find is it ten? Hold on,
we're not the show is done.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
We're not.

Speaker 6 (34:46):
We're not doing anything more until we see what number
twenty five.

Speaker 7 (34:51):
It'd be an easy change.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Breeding needs twenty.

Speaker 9 (34:53):
Five, right, Kyle Korver mckelbridges.

Speaker 8 (34:57):
You know she's going for her phone right now, ordering
it as we speak.

Speaker 6 (35:02):
Let's go all right, Well, we have a leadoff hitter
here all right now, and he's been pretty solid, so
he sets the table for the rest of the program.
Steve in Kansas City, Good morning, Good afternoon.

Speaker 7 (35:12):
What's up, Steve? How are you?

Speaker 2 (35:14):
Man?

Speaker 10 (35:15):
Oh man?

Speaker 11 (35:15):
We can always move the needle on Friday night. That's
what we do here.

Speaker 5 (35:19):
And Taylor Swift just got thepeded, so the needle's already
been moved.

Speaker 4 (35:24):
Kit.

Speaker 5 (35:25):
Taylor's going to court. Taylor's going to court, Baby Jo
to testify.

Speaker 12 (35:31):
She's gonna testify.

Speaker 5 (35:32):
Listen, don't worry about the thunder.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
We take our licks.

Speaker 13 (35:35):
We move on.

Speaker 5 (35:36):
I you know, you know what we're we know what
we're talking about. We're talking We're talking about Jordan Hudson,
the Miss USA passion tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (35:46):
You called it, you called it, you called it.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
Gold, going for all the gold after she was banned
from the UNC training facility and that now she's not banned. Listen,
HBO just on a double HBO on a double triple
the money for hard knocks. I'm here for all of it.
I want her. I want to see her running Oklahoma drills.

(36:11):
I'm on the field. I want I want Jordans all
all day, all the.

Speaker 12 (36:16):
All the time.

Speaker 10 (36:18):
I want her. I want her.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
Uh uh, you know, coaching special teams for U n
C assistant coach for special teams. I cannot get I
cannot get enough of Jordan Hudson and Bill Bill Bell.
I've got a question for Breed too.

Speaker 13 (36:35):
I gotta I've gotta.

Speaker 7 (36:36):
Okay, go ahead, go ahead, okay.

Speaker 5 (36:39):
Okay, I'm here. This was the this is the week
of the NBA playoffs are so good that that Timothy
shallow May and Justin Bieber had to skip the Met
gallup because they're watching the n b A and NHL playoffs.
Now do you do do we get into trouble? If
if you have to see, if you can watch and

(37:01):
Spike Lee went to the Met Gala and he missed
the greatest nixed game in history because he went to
the met Gala. But the young guys, we're staying, We're
staying strong now. And what kind of trouble Timothy Shallow
Mayo took his lady, took Kylie to Rome after to
try and make it up to her. What kind of
trouble are you in if you stay home and watch

(37:22):
the game instead of going out tom or a wedding
or something like that.

Speaker 6 (37:26):
This is this is your best question of Brie yet.
Thanks for the call.

Speaker 7 (37:31):
This is good.

Speaker 1 (37:31):
Now here's where I Bree.

Speaker 6 (37:33):
Can I just go ahead and just interet one thing
before you answer? I feel like you'd be a little
bit different in this instance, because I think you would
be fine with going to the game, right You're probably
built different whenever it comes to this, but not a
lot like my wife would not. I mean, it don't
matter that this pays the bills. If I miss birthday

(37:55):
or if I miss the met Gala, I'd be in.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Big trouble right now.

Speaker 7 (37:58):
So what where do you stand on that?

Speaker 8 (38:00):
Yeah, I'm totally different. I would not care. I would
definitely like I wouldn't want to go to the met
Gala and I wouldn't want to do any of that.
I'd rather just stay home watch the game. And Timothy
Shalomy doesn't need the publicity. I always say, the people
that always go to the met Gala, they wear these obnoxious,
crazy outfits and they need their like two minutes of
fame to be like, don't forget about me.

Speaker 9 (38:20):
I'm still here.

Speaker 5 (38:21):
I'm still around.

Speaker 8 (38:22):
Timothy Shallamy is dating a Jenner, right, so like, yeah,
there you go, so like he doesn't need to be
out there.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
No, no, thank you. I'm glad.

Speaker 8 (38:31):
You know what, I think Steve knows more about pop
culture than I do. I didn't even know Taylor Swift
was summoned in like a jury thing for the Lively thing.

Speaker 6 (38:40):
Yes, you know what, Steve By, I feel like he's
doing a really good job as our leadoff hitter.

Speaker 2 (38:46):
He really is.

Speaker 9 (38:47):
He's like my TMZ little recap.

Speaker 7 (38:48):
I'm like, oh, I had no idea.

Speaker 6 (38:50):
He'd by take this show from a sports show to
more of an entertainment pop out.

Speaker 9 (38:56):
He's a resident gossip girl.

Speaker 7 (38:58):
There you go. We need one.

Speaker 1 (38:59):
We need one, thanks, Steve.

Speaker 6 (39:01):
Okay, listen, I'm not really in the business of trying
to promote, like who's coming up next? Because we don't
have guests, but I see blind Scott as on hold.

Speaker 7 (39:11):
Blind Scott's not called.

Speaker 6 (39:13):
In in a while, professional radio caller, kind of a
rock star in that world, and he's got some cakes
on the knicks.

Speaker 7 (39:19):
So he's coming up and I'm ready for it. So
hanging there.

Speaker 6 (39:22):
We'll kick off hour two with blind Scott. I got
a line open if you want to jump in. At
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine ninety six six three sixth night. We're head to
San Diego. We're heading to Charleston. We're head to Massachusetts.
We're heading to Manhattan. What would be the cheesy end
of that? We're head to your cow next, pick up
the phone and call us and the Twitter at Plank

(39:42):
Show at Bredan East. Wait what twenty six or twenty five?

Speaker 13 (39:46):
Now?

Speaker 7 (39:46):
I'm all come for twenty six for now?

Speaker 6 (39:48):
Yes, the number threw me off with the cow Bridge
is Breedings twenty six.

Speaker 7 (39:55):
So get in here. Our one in the books.

Speaker 1 (39:57):
Hour two.

Speaker 7 (39:58):
Blind Scott coming up next, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
Stick around, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
That's track you heard the man Bernie Fattle Show keeps
from rolling right along. We're comedy line for the Las
Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. We'll take you up to
three am Pacific, six am us to We are just
getting started. Phone banks are lighting up, and I'm so
glad to hear from the peeps. Please be patient. We're
getting to all of you. We're getting to all of you,

(40:28):
and I want to make sure no one gets shut out,
So please be patient. And that's why because we have
three great topics tonight. Okay, we're gonna you know what,
you know what we're going with Draymond. You know we're
going with Lebron and you know we're going Manny Pacchio.
So without further ado to mind that out, all right,
we start with old reliable Jim in Massachusetts. Jim looking

(40:51):
forward to what you've got to say tonight, and some
I think some good topics.

Speaker 14 (41:00):
I think Draymont he's in a quiet taste. You know,
he's such a talent. And there's the other guys in
the league that they had to him, you know, put
up with, you know, to get their talent on the floor.
The thing is, my question is did the team ever
make him do counseling.

Speaker 13 (41:17):
Or anything like that?

Speaker 14 (41:17):
I mean, did they ever have him get him any help.

Speaker 2 (41:20):
I mean, well, yeah, I answer that question directly. I
know that during the twelve game suspension a few years ago,
his he could not return without some conditions being meant.
I don't know what those conditions were, but if you
got counseling, maybe they get your money back. It didn't work.

Speaker 14 (41:35):
Yeah, I mean that's as well. You're right there, but
that's what they should have done, and he.

Speaker 5 (41:39):
Should still be doing that.

Speaker 13 (41:40):
I mean, you know, he knows he's had.

Speaker 14 (41:42):
Issues, but that's that's neither he hand nor there at
this point. Lebron Lebron's Lebron. I was never really a
fan of Lebron. I've heard stories about him, you know,
even coming up through AAU, it's always been about him.
He was always that big of a guy, you know,
over over, you know, timinating and stuff like that. And
then you see this stuff on YouTube when he was

(42:03):
coaching Brian a You.

Speaker 13 (42:04):
Going off on reps and he's just yeah, yeah, it's.

Speaker 14 (42:08):
A love hate thing with Lebron, and I'm just really
not a fan.

Speaker 13 (42:12):
He just can't keep his mouth shut.

Speaker 2 (42:14):
That's all fair so in this particular case, though, his
refusal to comment on Luca and perhaps give the Lakers
an assist by making sure that Luca doesn't get you know,
a wandering eye. And then he clams up. Do you say, Okay,
that's Lebron's right. He doesn't want to talk about another
man's contract, but he's sure as hell had no problem
doing it when it came to you know, Bronnie and

(42:36):
JJ Reddick and Darvin Ham and Russell Westbrook.

Speaker 14 (42:41):
Well, you know the thing is, if Lebron thinks it
benefits him, he's all in, you know, But if not,
he keeps his mouth shut and not Believe me, he's
not that bright. If he wanted read the coach, They're
not going anywhere with that guy.

Speaker 13 (42:56):
They're going with that guy.

Speaker 2 (42:58):
Manny PACTI years old.

Speaker 14 (43:00):
I love I love Manny Patio. The problem there is
in boxing, you know, it's all about speed, you know,
and I just don't think he has the speed. I mean,
he used to knock guys out. Use to watch the
replay ten times. Oh yeah, yeah, I see it, you
know what I mean? Because I just hope he doesn't
get hurt.

Speaker 2 (43:20):
But anyone know you know what, yeah, good good stuff
is always you really appreciate you. Look, I will watch
July nineteenth, and if he wins at Belt at forty six, hey,
we'll see, we shall see. All right. I want to
make sure I get this name right. You'll tell me
if I'm closer or not.

Speaker 5 (43:38):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (43:38):
Is it d Bar in Minneapolis? Correct me if I'm wrong? Please?

Speaker 15 (43:43):
Yeah, you're right, I got it right, yes, sir?

Speaker 2 (43:47):
All right, I'm happy to hear that. I don't like
win a pizza or anything on my birthday. Now go ahead,
the bar, you got the floor.

Speaker 15 (43:54):
No, personally, I'm not gonna lie. I don't like Draymond Green,
not because of the way he plays and how his
i Q of basketball, like the high IQ that he has.
It's not because of that.

Speaker 16 (44:09):
It's just the way he acts on the court.

Speaker 15 (44:12):
But I was I was at the Timberwolves game where
or the where the fan was calling the hen slurs
and stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (44:23):
I didn't agree with that, right, that's I hope they
kicked that fan out.

Speaker 15 (44:29):
Out They didn't catch him, but they didn't catch him,
but he left before they could talk to him. But
I definitely, I definitely did not agree with that. But
I I think, like I think Draymond Green is a
great player.

Speaker 17 (44:45):
I think he's a great like a.

Speaker 15 (44:47):
Great person off the court. I don't know like how
he acts, but we as in the public, like what
we see is like what we judge on.

Speaker 12 (44:57):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (44:58):
Look, he's we're going ten years here. Let's let's switch
to Lebron. Are you pissed off like I am? The
Lebron decides to climb up when he's asked a question
about Luca.

Speaker 11 (45:11):
I don't know.

Speaker 15 (45:12):
I feel like Lebron's gonna retire this year, and.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
Bar, I think this is your first time calling the show.
Don't be a stranger. You're always welcome. I'm gonna predict
your place in these three more years, three more, three more,
because he's gonna want a good well goodbye to her.
And he's already said he wants to play with his
other son, Bryce, who's an incoming freshman at Arizona State
or Arizona this year at Arizona State. Go ahead, you
finish up your thought. Sorry to Bar, I didn't mean

(45:39):
to interrupt you there. We get so many callers. We
do this every week. Spocks we in Oregon dive right in.

Speaker 18 (45:46):
My friend, Hey, Bernie, wonderful to talk to you again.
How are you, sir, doing well?

Speaker 2 (45:51):
Thank you?

Speaker 18 (45:52):
All right, and now ask the usual question if you would,
what are you drinking? I am drinking a ten year
eagle rare bourbon with a foster's back.

Speaker 4 (46:03):
It's delicious.

Speaker 2 (46:03):
So let's hope that crystallizes your thoughts. Give me, give
me your characterization of Draymond Raymond Green.

Speaker 18 (46:10):
He's the kind of guy. Yes, that's true.

Speaker 2 (46:13):
If he's on your no filter.

Speaker 18 (46:15):
If he's on your team, you love him. Everybody else
hates him, and they're all right to hate him.

Speaker 2 (46:20):
He had But I can relate to that because Bill
amber I covered the bad boy Pistons. He was the
same type of guy. He played the victim. He just
he embraced who he was. Continue on.

Speaker 18 (46:29):
No, Yeah, the victim stuff is crap, but he's But
if the NBA can tolerate this, that's their fault.

Speaker 2 (46:37):
Well they had disciplined them, you know, two hundred and
twenty seven finals. Move on to Lebron. I let you
get your thoughts on Lebron and his recar All right, go.

Speaker 18 (46:45):
Ahead, Yeah, Lebron is a spoiled brat. He always has been.
But he's one of the greatest basketball players of all time.
So I mean, what are you gonna do? However, I
think Lebron he could be at a chuck e Cheese
and play the hoop shoot and if he hits the
rim and it comes back and hits his head, he'll
fall and he'll look around for the kids or the

(47:06):
rat to find out who who.

Speaker 2 (47:08):
Fouled him, and then tell you he's not a flopper, which.

Speaker 12 (47:11):
He said, that's right.

Speaker 18 (47:13):
And if that happened to Draymond, he'd completely trash the
machine and tell you he's not an angry black man.

Speaker 2 (47:18):
And if it happened to Manie o'patio, what do he do?

Speaker 13 (47:21):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (47:22):
Man?

Speaker 18 (47:22):
If it's many many, Pactio would take it like a man, say,
you know, God is good and we're going to continue
to try to be better.

Speaker 2 (47:31):
You watch Manny on July nineteenth. Will you watch that
fight or you have interesy?

Speaker 18 (47:35):
If I have a chance to watch it, yes I will.
Manei Paccio is one of the one of the greatest
people I think uh in sports. He's a man of God.
I find that attracted personally. Many other people may not care,
but I certainly do. And I hope that that he
does well, and I hope that if he does win

(47:58):
that he gets to invent some sort of appliance like
a grill master or something like George Cormy.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
All right, buddy, Listen always appreciates this box, great energy.
Enjoy that beverage. We got to Orange, California. Martin joined us. Martin,
welcome in. Is this your first call to the Bernie Frownsfield.

Speaker 10 (48:15):
Hey, Bernie, first time, long time man.

Speaker 2 (48:18):
Welcome in. Appreciate you, Appreciate you calling in, buddy.

Speaker 11 (48:21):
Go ahead, Okay, So let me just get to the
Draymond man.

Speaker 10 (48:25):
I really like him.

Speaker 11 (48:26):
I love the way he plays. I think he's feisty
and he always embraced that I'm the bad guy. But
he's gotten older. He's playing the victim roll, which I
really do not like. If he was in the eighties,
I think he would just be another great strong player
and this whole dirty thing wouldn't even be part of
the vocabulary.

Speaker 10 (48:49):
I'm I'm gonna jump to pack out.

Speaker 11 (48:53):
I don't know why this guy's coming back, man, I mean,
at forty six, I'm going to tune in, but I
already know what's gonna happen. He's gonna go to sleep,
because that's just basically what's been happening. I really thought
he was in politics in the Philippines. I can't believe
he's coming back. But you know what they say, Bernie,
All warriors like to leave on their shields, and that's

(49:15):
what I think. You're right. Lebron wants to play another
four years. I'm from the heart of the Lakers, man,
That's where I live. This is where we're at. And
I'm gonna tell you when I read that article and
what Lebron said about oh, that's not my job, the
first thing that ran through my mind was, and that's
exactly what you were getting a statue in front of

(49:38):
our stadium because they don't understand the brand of the Lakers.
You don't understand the love of the Lakers and the
family of the Lakers. You're always Lebron first stats, First.

Speaker 10 (49:49):
Look at me.

Speaker 11 (49:50):
I'm the goat. You know who never said they were
the goat? Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Bill Russell, These guys
were a goat. And my man, thank you, Bernie.

Speaker 2 (50:02):
I'm standing debut. Martin's great energy, great stuff. Was that
one guy on the ready says, rack them, yeah, rack
them Martin. Don't be a stranger. You covered a lot
of great ground on you. You touched upon one of
my basic premises as someone who was an intern at
the Forum and was there for Magic's rookie year. And look,

(50:24):
the Lakers are an organization of eras. I mean you
had the Wilt era, and then the Jabbar and then
Magic and Kareem and and and then right on down
through you know, Kobe and Shack and now you got
the clown era. And that's just the way I see it,
all right, Uh, Tony in Miami, I'm guessing if Raymond

(50:44):
Green acted a fool in one of your clubs, you'd
have kicked him out right.

Speaker 16 (50:50):
I'm gonna have to go with Dennis Rodman and I
Larry Bird or Black. You'd just be another guy in
a club.

Speaker 2 (50:59):
Well, actually, Isaiah's one who said that, and they bird
handle it well and they ended up having a press
conference and kissing making up.

Speaker 16 (51:05):
I I was I was watching the Celtic City.

Speaker 2 (51:08):
No, yeah, yeah, yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 16 (51:11):
Real cook about Draymond. Uh. By the way, I got
a handed to Martin. I'll get get you refer to
him in a minute. But in reference to Draymond, I
think he's okay. If the league has goons and thugs,
there are none. There's a lot of uh of robots

(51:33):
and and droids that are athletic that played AAU and overseas,
so they don't know how to handle him. I'm not
for sure. Anthony Mason, Dave College, Charles Oakley, Uh, the
Davis brothers wouldn't be having Draymond, and Draymond wouldn't be
having them, and they get into it. But I think,

(51:53):
you know, it would be good. I understand what he's.

Speaker 11 (51:57):
Doing and I would want him on my team.

Speaker 16 (52:00):
But he hears a haggle, he opens his mouth.

Speaker 2 (52:05):
Okay, and that's the problem. Draymond is not as smart
as he thinks he is, or he wouldn't engage in
this this continuing ongoing in lack of impulse control and
then followed up by defending it with stupid comments. It's
like the gig tragedy Hutsbell who murders both of his
parents and just have mercy on me. Court I'm an orphan.

Speaker 16 (52:25):
I mean, come on, he knows, he knows exactly what
he's doing until he does it. And I do think
he had the biggest fact I was in sixteen, I
did have an issue. If you remember Adam Silver, when
you call when you cost your team a championship. One

(52:48):
problem with Silver? What happened that year? He said on
record that if that was going into Game seven, he
would not have suspended drain me Dream, so that that night.

Speaker 11 (53:00):
You know, whyever you want to.

Speaker 16 (53:01):
Look at that?

Speaker 2 (53:02):
But how about I want to cut you moving, Bud,
because we've got so many how about if we just
suspend Lebron on general principles? What are your thoughts now?
He speaks out this week and no one asked him,
But then they ask him about Luca and he doesn't
want to say anything.

Speaker 16 (53:14):
Uh, just here, I have nothing on Patiao. I'll leave it.
Leave you with the Lebron Dames. Okay, the reference to
the lost call, who is great. I'm in Miami, okay, Uh,
I attend in Cleveland. This guy's not beloved anywhere Cleveland split.
There's some people there I believe that respect what he did.

Speaker 4 (53:35):
Sure, he's clear.

Speaker 16 (53:36):
You heard the left come up, and that's a true
Wakers fan. I'm telling all of the people on the
West coast, you need the petition to have the body
either retire or has him.

Speaker 11 (53:48):
Trained by the end of next.

Speaker 16 (53:49):
Season, because what's gonna happen is he's gonna leave your
team with nothing. He's going thank you, thank you, He's
going to recit run to your organization, and Ruca's gonna leave.

Speaker 2 (54:04):
I yeah, we'll see it next week, Tony. I hope.
I look my colleague, who I respect tremendously, have gotten
to know real well. Steve Hartman has, for my money,
the most intelligent take. And if the Lakers were real
like branch Ricky used to be back in the day,
or and there are organizations. If you see the Celtics

(54:26):
deel Red Aurbach, they knew what to do and when
it was time to do it, and you take the
hard punch and everybody screams and cries, and not everybody,
because I think Lebron is very polarizing, Hartman said, they
move on from him now. Okay, I respect Steve Harper.
One of these nights, I probably got to have him
on the show to talk about it, because it makes sense.
You man, I like carrying that, but your gender is different.

(54:49):
Zach Jerome, Poppy, Emmett, Andrew You're up next in that order.
Don't go anywhere. I want to hear from all you.
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. The min that
hour is off and run, and everybody's been fantastic so far.

All right, we're back on the Bernie Frattle Show, Fox
Sports Radio. The Midnight Hour continues. We go back out
to the phone lines. Zach in Seattle joins us, Zach,
thanks for hanging on, buddy. What do you got for
us tonight?

Speaker 17 (55:38):
Well, the first and foremost attitude of gratitude. Thank you
for your show on Saturday nights. And I do Uper
Eats and Geor Dash is a side outle for my
two young girls, and you're always.

Speaker 4 (55:49):
A fun listen, So thank you for that.

Speaker 2 (55:51):
Thank you appreciate that absolutely.

Speaker 11 (55:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 17 (55:54):
I mean my dream on take is echoing a lot
of what the other callers have said. You have said,
but I think there's a an interesting angle and take
on this too, that that doesn't.

Speaker 16 (56:03):
Get talked about a lot.

Speaker 17 (56:04):
Is you know, Steve Kerr had had Rodman and they
won three championships together, and so he saw that. And
it's like, I don't know if he thinks Draymond is
Rodman two point zero or you know whatever you want
to call it, right, but he saw that and saw
the value of it, but he's not able to, I
don't know, control it as.

Speaker 11 (56:23):
Much as Bill Jackson.

Speaker 17 (56:26):
It's just an interesting thing to think about, right, you
know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (56:29):
Well, I did think you bring up a valid point. Listen.
I covered the bad boy Pistons and Rodman produced results,
as does Draymond. The difference is Draymond's got a different
agenda and he's constantly not recating the victim. I never
saw Rodman do that continue.

Speaker 4 (56:45):
At Yeah.

Speaker 17 (56:46):
I mean Rodman would go and dress as a woman
and disappear and like escape in different ways. But yeah,
the Draymond thing, I think you're just in the wrong era.
But two hundred and twenty some ods fins he said,
I didn't realize.

Speaker 2 (56:58):
It was like there, and he won't he won't shut up, Like,
I don't see a lot of accountability. Your thoughts on
Lebron and his unwillingness to speak on a subject that
he was asked about.

Speaker 17 (57:09):
Yeah, man, what what what Lebron's legacy could be and
where he could be on Rushmore and eliminate so much debate.
It just falls on him for he just continues in
his mouth.

Speaker 2 (57:22):
Yeah, well I with h with Manio's fight. Try that
I get an English Manny Pachio coming back by nineteenth.
You even care?

Speaker 11 (57:33):
No, I don't really care too much.

Speaker 17 (57:34):
But I'm guessing he's gonna the money that he's gonna get,
he's going to donate, So I'm thinking it's a money
grab and something like that. I don't think he or
maybe just maybe yeah, maybe, But yeah, I don't really
care too much about it.

Speaker 2 (57:48):
Great stuff, Zach. Appreciate you man, and don't be a stranger.
I like the way you lay things out there. I
think the Dennis Robin uh comparison is appropriate, certainly in
terms of production. But Robin was really an interesting, likable
guy and if you really got to know him, and
Draymond is really polarizing ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.

(58:08):
Jerome and Charleston, Jerome, all I can say is thank
you for your service to our country.

Speaker 10 (58:15):
Rodman a nice guy.

Speaker 18 (58:16):
That weirdo.

Speaker 2 (58:17):
Come on, I met him. I met him many many times. Jerome,
you'd have liked him, you know how, Joan, you got
a BS meter and one on one, he's a really
he's a really interesting guy. He's a good dude. Hey,
he ain't perfect.

Speaker 18 (58:30):
One on one.

Speaker 10 (58:31):
I'm never sitting in the seam.

Speaker 11 (58:32):
Room with that guy. Not that weird though.

Speaker 2 (58:37):
All right, So tell me about another weirdo named Draymond.
I'm sorry. I as an ad hominem attack. He got
the floor.

Speaker 10 (58:44):
I feel sorry for him because he reminds me of
that old biblical thing. How does a man prosper? He
gave the world and he lose his soul. You know,
he's the heck of a defensive player, but he got problems, man,
And I don't know he needs. He needs to go
up to the therapy like I did a couple of
years ago for I lost my mom. I don't know
if it will help him, but it couldn't hurt. Okay,

(59:07):
he needs to see some therapy, but it might be
too late in the game for him. Who knows now
today that look.

Speaker 11 (59:13):
Keep been doing this for a long time and you
can't change, man.

Speaker 10 (59:18):
We don't like changing for anybody because I don't expect
him to be any different. And as far as this
polarizing Lebron, that's the second time this week I've heard
that comment. And the first person said that she's about
his dumb as they come. Okay, And I know who
she is and I've heard her she's about his dumb
as they yet. Okay, So I've considered the swords. Like

(59:41):
I said, people don't know what people think you're smart
until you start talking. And she ain't that smart. Okay.
The guy's a plaionaire. He had nothing years ago, nothing
he could rob two Nicolas together, and now look where
he is and look at his playing resume. You know
he's a businessman. If I'm going to take advice, I'm

(01:00:01):
gonna take advice from him because she's very smart. The
people that criticize him not so smart. And as far
as Pakio, stay retired, man, you don't need it. I'll
let you broke, and you need the money. Stay retired,
because who wants to get to brand scrabble at the
age of forty six? May I work on Mike Cognitute

(01:00:21):
every day and I'm sixty eight. So getting hit in
the head, that doesn't help, all right, So just stay retired.

Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
That's it, Bernie, all right, your own appreciate you, buddy,
Thank you so much. If we can just just you know,
get you to get over the shyness and come out
of your show. Now, great stuff, Poppy and San Diego.
What have we got tonight? Poppy?

Speaker 19 (01:00:44):
Hey, Bernie, you know what's on my mind is like,
you know, you were talking about Draymond Green compared, Well,
I'll compare to Raymond Green with someone. It's like today,
you know, I'm working and I'm picking up an order
for new breeze, right, and the person takes with the
the dollar bill, Bernie, and I was wondering what happened
when someone pays with the counterfeit. Well, the manager gets

(01:01:04):
a bail. Hey, there's a fake counter beer. I did
a line and there's a fake bag.

Speaker 4 (01:01:08):
I could go and do I know, do I know?

Speaker 10 (01:01:11):
You know it's a big junible. You're not the things
that starts crying out like Grandma gave me this bill.

Speaker 19 (01:01:16):
Well, that's straight, mom, Britt Green. I think the victim
wants people like feel sorry for him. That's kind of
the comparison, I would give Jamon green like.

Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
Cry I do. I do agree that he's playing the victim. Yeah,
fair enough? Copy alright, tell you you heard your owns
thoughts on Lebron. I it bugs me when Lebron wants
to say something and most of the time we don't care.
And then when they're asking specifically about Luca, he hits crooked.
So did he do the right thing? Because if you
wanted a film, that's fine with me. Yeah.

Speaker 19 (01:01:47):
Well, I got plenty to say about Lebron James. Lebron James,
you gotta understand how you say you, Bernnie, I could
a psychology without degree. I actually wanted to be a psychologist.
But when you go into the mind of Lebron James,
he always wants to be the headline.

Speaker 10 (01:02:00):
It's an ego.

Speaker 5 (01:02:01):
Egos like me, me, me, I want to go into Gallas.

Speaker 19 (01:02:04):
I want to look nice and pretty for Lebron Jay,
And I got advice advice for you. I don't care
about that about you being a How about this, I
got some advice for you, Lebron James.

Speaker 10 (01:02:12):
How about you focus on the thing and being a
good parent.

Speaker 19 (01:02:15):
You get that with Ronnie making him, you know, go
to us, he's it bad?

Speaker 10 (01:02:20):
And what about your other son? Okay, I want you.

Speaker 19 (01:02:22):
To be close to me, son Arizona. No, how can
you gonna make them to phill Grgis J always wanted
to go.

Speaker 10 (01:02:27):
To Ohio State. You're from Ohio. How come you gonna
tell your other kid to go Ohio State?

Speaker 19 (01:02:31):
You know, like you're a better parent, woken up on
your kids.

Speaker 13 (01:02:34):
That's my advice for you.

Speaker 2 (01:02:37):
Whoa baby? All right? Manny Patio forty six years old,
once once, one more.

Speaker 16 (01:02:43):
Belt Yeah, well many Pagio.

Speaker 19 (01:02:46):
I really love mine in Patio. Like I thought it
was a millionaire. I thought it was rich, you know,
I think, oh he's rich. He's a president and over
there in the Philippines. So like, I don't know. I
just think that sometimes when you love something so much
that college on him, Missus. He wants to He thinks
he's back in his prime dage, and his mentality is like, yeah,
I could do it, but physically he can't do it.

Speaker 16 (01:03:08):
So I don't think he just wants to do it.

Speaker 19 (01:03:10):
See what he does, and probably that's a cross of
office bucket list and that'll be interesting. But I don't
think he'll do good.

Speaker 2 (01:03:16):
To be honest, Poppy, good stuff, but appreciate it.

Speaker 18 (01:03:19):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
Thanks Poppy, stay safe down there in San Diego. Emmat
up in the Olympic, Washington. What's up, Emma? How you doing, Bud?

Speaker 16 (01:03:26):
What's going on?

Speaker 20 (01:03:27):
Bernie doing good?

Speaker 21 (01:03:28):
How about you?

Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Dive good? Thank you? Dive into these three topics.

Speaker 21 (01:03:32):
Just want to say Happy Mother's Day to all the
mothers out there. And my first topic, like, I'll start
with Draymond. Now, it's a really interesting story because Draymond,
like throughout all his career, we've kind of known him
as the crash out. I'm sure Brenos of that terms
mean you you might as well, where it's basically like
person who just loses a COOLi. You know, they do
some things that they may regret, stupid things, right, And.

Speaker 2 (01:03:50):
We know that term is a cop out though, but.

Speaker 5 (01:03:53):
Yeah, cop out here, that's a good one.

Speaker 2 (01:03:55):
Crash out Okay, But here's the deal. This is an
international star who's four time champion. I just want to
hit your opinion. How do you characterize Draymond? I already
you already heard my thoughts.

Speaker 21 (01:04:08):
Well, it's hard because we know Draymond as an on
the court player and like a podcast so from the
volume nine if he still does that anymore, So, like
we don't really know you off the court, and when
he comes out and he's like, you guys are trying
to play me as an angry black man. It's like
I'm basing my character off of how I know you.
You may be a great dad, you may be a
great husband.

Speaker 2 (01:04:26):
Okay, that's a great point. The way what he's projecting
is what people are responding to, and if he wasn't
doing that, we might have a different opinion. That's a
good insight. Let's go to Lebron. Did Lebron do the
right thing about Knock getting Luca's business? Sure didn't bother
him getting in darbin hands and everybody else's.

Speaker 10 (01:04:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 21 (01:04:44):
The thing with Lebron is he's really terrible at talking
like this man is not the best pr like like
this picked me off a couple of weeks ago. If
you remember that when they lose they lost in Game
five to the Timberlves I believe it with VJ who
posted this, it was a side by side of like
Kobe losing and then Lebron losing, and Lebron was all

(01:05:05):
just laughing making jokes and Kobe like you could tell
that the loss was like get into his head. And
it's just the way that Lebron like goes about the media.
I just don't really find it very much.

Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
It's another good insight, Okay, give it a respect. And
look when Kobe talked, I listened. He was a wise man.
I truly believe that Harry saw him give one of
the best motivational speeches ever. Lebron he talks makes my
teeth itch real quickly, ad Manny, I want to get
to the rest of peace great.

Speaker 16 (01:05:32):
Cor sure, for sure quickly.

Speaker 5 (01:05:33):
So forty six years old.

Speaker 21 (01:05:35):
I think Jerome said it correctly. I don't think he's broke,
but this is definitely like some sort of money grab
situation where we see these guys come out of retirement
all the time, you know, and the and they just
want to run it up.

Speaker 5 (01:05:46):
And I have no issue with it.

Speaker 21 (01:05:47):
People are gonna, you know, come check it out because
it's Manipacia, one of the better boxes we've seen in
a very long time.

Speaker 2 (01:05:52):
So I think I think many likable. All right, man,
in great stuff, Bud, you covered a lot of ground.
I wish I had more time. I want to get
to everybody just so everybody knows it's twenty six minutes
in the midnight hours over, but it's not over. If
you crawl in, you are getting on. Even if we
spill past one am Pacific before IM Eastern, you get
you get the drill, Andrew, and Bakersfield is back. Welcome

(01:06:15):
and Andrew. What do you got for us?

Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
All right?

Speaker 20 (01:06:18):
First off, I would say to Draymond Green, just move forward,
and you have to remember, just like in life, you
can't put hands on someone, and so you have to
stay in a self defense mindset.

Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
Okay, fair enough, he doesn't learn his lesson in ten years,
But continue on. What do you got on? Lebron?

Speaker 20 (01:06:39):
Okay, Lebron? Once again, I think you guys are crazy.
I'm Lakers till I die, and I'll do it. He's beloved,
he's beloved.

Speaker 4 (01:06:48):
Okay, and.

Speaker 20 (01:06:52):
I have we can work it out. We can work
it out.

Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
Who's take the Beatles for fifty?

Speaker 5 (01:06:59):
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
I respect your opinion there. Look, Lebron does have a
lot of fans. I'm not denying that. And if you're
the Lakers and you're a diehard Laker guy, you know
you've hitched your wagon Lebron because he gives you the
best chance to go one eight in the playoffs the
last two years and maybe make the playing round. But
I respect your opinion. Look, here's the thing, Andrew. The
most boring conversations when everybody agrees. So if you tell

(01:07:20):
me Lebren, that's good enough for me. Anything, go ahead.

Speaker 20 (01:07:26):
I had something else on Lebron, Lebron pack pak yaw.
I would say, a snooze fast. He lost me with
his fights at Mayweather. Throw the punches, you know what
I mean, that's coming up on ten.

Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
It's already been ten years, May second, twenty fifteen.

Speaker 5 (01:07:40):
Those are so Floyd waited and waited and waited.

Speaker 2 (01:07:43):
Till Manny got old and slowed down, and Floyd beat him.
Floyd beat him.

Speaker 4 (01:07:47):
Yeah, did you go ahead?

Speaker 13 (01:07:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:07:50):
Well the the only question I had. Well we got
it as quickly. Do you want to defend Lebron for
his choice not to speak out on the Lucas situation,
which I think is purely aftradictory, and I run because
he's never been shy about speaking about everything else, whether
it's Brownie, Darvinham, Russell Westbrook. You get the picture right?

Speaker 20 (01:08:09):
Often I think you everybody, most people, lots of people
hear him wrong. So I'm saying, what was the question
that was asked him that he refused to answer? Or
he is well of the way he did, you know
what I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:08:21):
But you can take a lot Andrew. I'll talk ever
so quickly. It's no doubt. It's no secret that the
Lakers want to lock Luca up to a long year deal.
So it was intimated to Lebron Mighty intervene on Luca's
behalf and say, Luca, you really want to be here,
and you know, blah blah blah. No, I ain't my job.
Ain't my job. He's twenty six year old. He's got

(01:08:43):
to be his own man. Well, it wasn't your job
to get Russell Westbrook either or Darvinham or JJ Reddick
or getting Brownie signed if it doesn't benefit you, I
guess well you can fill in the blank. Stephen Kansas City.
Let's get one more in here. I Steve.

Speaker 10 (01:08:59):
Bernie, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
By another another Saturday Night Bud Snymore.

Speaker 5 (01:09:04):
Well, you know, I think the thing about Draymond, you know,
he whenever you start to play the race card and
in basketball you're losing, You're a.

Speaker 4 (01:09:13):
Loser, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
I didn't sit well with a lot of people, including players,
including that Tim McMahon from Go Ahead, continue.

Speaker 5 (01:09:20):
On, Yeah, that that that was just then overwhelming feeling
that I have. And another caller kind of mentioned it
before that you know, he's a pale imitation of Dennis Rodman,
who did it. Paul Pierce made a good call man.
He said that Dennis did it with a lot of
artistry and kind of a lot of you know, would

(01:09:42):
get under your skin.

Speaker 14 (01:09:43):
Frustrates you.

Speaker 5 (01:09:45):
This guy, Draymond does it with no intelligence. So he's
not an intelligent black man. He doesn't play, he doesn't
play with intelligence. He doesn't play using his powers to
the using his power to to do but he just
fails around and everybody, everybody.

Speaker 13 (01:10:04):
Knows what he's doing.

Speaker 5 (01:10:05):
So like, look, you sort of alluded to hear he
thinks he's a lot smarter than he is. And that's
that's kind of like a great commentary about today's generation
in general.

Speaker 13 (01:10:17):
I'm not saying.

Speaker 5 (01:10:17):
All people, but he has a greatly oversimplified opinion about
how good he is and he's not. And I don't
think he deserves to be of a Hall of Fame
with these comments. If you if you ask me. I mean,
he probably will end up in the Hall of Fame,
but I would not I would not vote for him
in the Hall of Fame after these comments.

Speaker 2 (01:10:39):
So how about Lebron who at some good stuff? How
about Lebron?

Speaker 5 (01:10:42):
Yeah, well, I mean I think Lebron just needs to
just needs to take his retirement tour. I'm just I
just don't think he's another one that is just this
is not going to help him at all. If I
was him, I would I would you seriously start thinking
about that retirement tour where they give him like a rocking.

Speaker 12 (01:11:05):
Chair and every every destination, you know.

Speaker 5 (01:11:08):
I mean, I just don't think maybe one more year,
but after that he really needs to call.

Speaker 18 (01:11:14):
Call it a day.

Speaker 4 (01:11:14):
I don't think.

Speaker 13 (01:11:15):
I don't see what he has to do.

Speaker 4 (01:11:17):
What he has to do.

Speaker 5 (01:11:19):
This brawny thing is that has injured him quite a bit,
and so he should really think about hanging it up
this year, this year, next, the Manny Pacquia thing, I'm
I'm all, I'm all for it.

Speaker 16 (01:11:32):
Man.

Speaker 5 (01:11:32):
I tell you what, I want all these guys to
come back de la Hoya, anybody they can ship back.
We can start a senior boxing league. Let's let's let's
let's you know, Netflix needs programming. Let's just let's just
bring all these dudes back. Let's let's bring all the
you know, whether or not they're fighting current fighters or not.

(01:11:53):
I think you can gross more with them fighting each other,
like Tyson versus versus Paul. I mean, I'm a sucker.
I'll go for all day, all right, love.

Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
It, I love it all great stuff, Steve, appreciate you, man. Look,
as a society, we've been infasciated, infatuated with glaudiatory of
sports since the beginning of time. So there's always going
to be this just to set the rep My thoughts
on Draymond I can hold two thoughts concurrently. All right,
he's a very good basketball player. He's a great passer,
he can shoot, he can defend. He was a key

(01:12:26):
cog and four championships and also probably constant one in
twenty sixteen, and he's hurt his team in a lot
with his annex. My deal is simple, he lacks impulse control,
and he's ever going to change, and now he lacks accountability,
and now he's playing the victim. So we had this
topic tonight. When you run your mouth to the degree
he did, and the backlash he's getting. Very few people
are in his corner on this one because it doesn't

(01:12:46):
add up. It doesn't add up to midnight. I was
going to continue, Hugh on the five, Rick and Louisiana,
Tito in Los Angeles, and Mike the Leprechaun. You will
be up next, by the way, for the best pregame
show every week, can be sure to tune into Fox
Sports Radio's Countdown presented by BETMGM every Saturday and Sunday
morning from nine am to noon Eastern six to nine

(01:13:07):

all the tournament games, and right here. Tune into Countdown,
presented by bet MGM every Saturday and Sunday morning right

(01:13:28):
listen to the Bernie Fradtle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
All right back on the Bernie Fraddle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
The midnight hour continues. You go back out to the phones.
So Hugh, in much the same way the Big Ten,
even though they have like eighteen teams, they still call
it the Big Ten. Not sure what freeway you're on,

(01:13:48):
but we're gonna bring you in as Hugh on the
five every time. Okay, we'll just do that.

Speaker 22 (01:13:52):
You you're up, buddy, Okay, Bernie, I'm sitting at the
rest area in Camp Pendleton off the five.

Speaker 12 (01:14:02):
So don't get it wrong.

Speaker 22 (01:14:04):
I'm always on the five because I'm always driving on
the five because.

Speaker 4 (01:14:08):
With my personal life.

Speaker 13 (01:14:09):
And where I live and what I do for work
and all.

Speaker 11 (01:14:11):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
You know I'm a Hue fan, right. I think your
calls you just wasted thirty seconds and no one cares
get to your topics. You have good input, my friend,
you're thoughtful. We don't care about this crap anymore. It's
a bit. It's over here here on the five. I
get it now. We've wasted a minute. Hurry up, buddy, go,
I want to hear what you got to say.

Speaker 22 (01:14:31):
So, by the way, so before you before going to commercial,
you distilled it pretty well. You talked about the player
Draymond and who he is.

Speaker 18 (01:14:41):
But we're talking about the joker, and so what become.

Speaker 22 (01:14:46):
Of the NBA is the undercurrent of the theme that
sort of has you know, we've.

Speaker 13 (01:14:53):
Talked about it before on the air.

Speaker 22 (01:14:54):
The cb A where the players are have taken over
and they can do whatever s they want. And so
here we are talking about jokers, including Lebron.

Speaker 16 (01:15:06):
We're just talking about the jokers.

Speaker 14 (01:15:07):
And their personalities.

Speaker 5 (01:15:08):
We're not even talking.

Speaker 2 (01:15:09):
About the excellent characterization.

Speaker 22 (01:15:11):
I accepted, Yes, okay, So so that's okay.

Speaker 13 (01:15:15):
So that's that's I got a couple of anadotes. So
last night, ready for work. Is I going to people's
homes to help them with their technology.

Speaker 14 (01:15:23):
I met this woman who worked for the Lakers for
thirty years.

Speaker 23 (01:15:26):
She's still working for the Lakers, and she has she
has her password is like.

Speaker 22 (01:15:32):
Kobe eight to four blah blah blah blah blah.

Speaker 13 (01:15:35):
Right like totally into the Lakers.

Speaker 5 (01:15:37):
My next client was in Calabasis, which happened to be where.

Speaker 14 (01:15:42):
Kobe's helicopter went down.

Speaker 22 (01:15:44):
And I cannot believe that connected to the doc.

Speaker 13 (01:15:48):
Moment that I had. But what she said is, man,
it ain't like it used to be.

Speaker 2 (01:15:53):
You know.

Speaker 13 (01:15:54):
She said that she's just down on the NBA, you know,
and she's.

Speaker 14 (01:15:59):
Been working for the Lakers for thirty years.

Speaker 16 (01:16:01):
So I'll put that in terms of.

Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
The product on the floor, in terms of the image,
in terms of.

Speaker 22 (01:16:06):
Should probably not make it as much money or you know,
it ain't good times so much anymore, you know. And
she and she started working when they were at the
Forum and the Forum Club and all that stuff. So
it probably has something to do with that, right, So
I got a question for you.

Speaker 13 (01:16:24):
Don't you think or do you.

Speaker 14 (01:16:26):
Think Lebron had jumped the shark?

Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
Well, I think he jumped the shark years ago, and
we're here, we are when he decided he wanted to
be this patriarchal, parenthetical spokesperson and all things. And you
know what, this is America. You get to talk. No
one's going to tell you to shut up and dribble.
I'm not. You've got a microphone all day every day.
But guess what. It's what I call the lifeguard. Dear Hugh,

(01:16:54):
if you look the part, or act the part, or
tell me you can be a lifeguard. One of these days,
someone's going to be flail in the pool. We're gonna
find out if you can swim, We're gonna find out
you can't hide anywhere. I'm sorry, Lebron, you are so clunky.
Every time you talk, I want to kill myself with
a chainsaw.

Speaker 19 (01:17:11):
Okay, there you go, man, I set you up for that, Bernie.

Speaker 13 (01:17:15):
Okay, you know we might as well talk about Baywatch
at that point.

Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
Anyway, real quickly, well, real quickly, I'd like to get
your thought on, Manny Pacio, because you do have thoughtful
angles that perhaps.

Speaker 5 (01:17:27):
Yeah, so he's as relevant as D two Kim.

Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
I was at that fight when he got killed November eleventh,
nineteen eighty two, here in Las Vegas at the old
outdoor Caesar's Palace. Yeah. Yes, when he thought boom boom
Mancini on crowded I've told the story on the air
many times. Wow, now that's a reference. See you did
begin Go ahead, you finish your point.

Speaker 13 (01:17:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 22 (01:17:50):
Yeah, Well I was just gonna say he's he's irrelevant
like D two Kims, but not as relevant as.

Speaker 13 (01:18:00):
Boom boom Mansini. So I'll leave you with that.

Speaker 2 (01:18:05):
Are you anything else, Bud?

Speaker 10 (01:18:08):
Give me more air?

Speaker 13 (01:18:09):
Sure?

Speaker 4 (01:18:11):
Okay.

Speaker 22 (01:18:11):
So the other thing so we're talking about, I'm gonna
I'm gonna let I'm gonna let the.

Speaker 23 (01:18:16):
Next hour go.

Speaker 2 (01:18:19):
All right. Part of the reason I did that is
we are coming up on the end of the midnight hour.
But Rick Keto, Mike the leper Con and Bryce, should
you elect to stay on the line and uh and
and we'll have you on as we've done before. Occasionally
the midnight hour will spill over. I don't want anybody
to be turned away. All I ask politely is please

(01:18:42):
try to get to your points and make your points
as sincly as you can. Uh and and you know
I want to get your thoughts, because look, Draymond Green
is a four time NBA champion on one of the
most what has become an iconic NBA franchise, playing against
the first ballot Hall of playing with the first ballot
Hall of Famer in Steph Curry. All Right, he matters.

(01:19:07):
He's been a part of this league. He's going off
the rails for the thousandth time in ten years, and
now he's really going off the reels. In my humble opinion, Lebron,
the season's over. You lost second year and early, you've
been knocked out the first round. You always want to
make it about you unless someone asks you to make
it about you, and then you don't want to make
it about you. You had no problem talking when you

(01:19:28):
wanted Westbrook, or you had thoughts about Darvin Ham or
JJ Reddick, or you wanted Brianny to be an NBA player.
But Luca, no, okay, well is that You're right? Sure
it is? And then finally a manupac you a guy
like it's a story you've seen a thousand times, coming
back forty six years old fighting for a belt. Will
you watch it? Do you care? Good idea, bad idea.

(01:19:50):
That's where we are in the sports world right now. Okay,
the games on the floor are not quite as interesting.
We don't have royalty in this country. Our athletes and
entertainers are royalty. Our continues coming up after the top
of the art. Keep it locks the Bernie Frattle Show
on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 17 (01:20:06):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio's right you heard
the man Bernie Frattles Show.

Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
Keeps rolling right along? Come your line for the Fox
Sports Radio studios here in a Las Vegas. I want
to remind everybody that shortly after the show, our podcast
will be going up. If you missed any of tonight's show,
be sure to check out the podcast. Just search Fox
Sports Radio wherever you get your podcasts, and be sure
to follow and review the podcast and raty five stars again.

(01:20:32):
Just search Fox Sports Radio the Bernie Frattles Show wherever
you get your podcasts. You'll see tonight show posted right
after we get off the year. Let's go back off
to the phones as we wrap up them in that
hour with our final four callers, Rick in Louisiana. Welcome in, Rick.

Speaker 12 (01:20:47):
How are you all right?

Speaker 2 (01:20:49):
How are you good? Sir?

Speaker 12 (01:20:51):
Thanks good, Thanks for taking my call. Wanna start with Lebron.
Start with Lebron and give you two names, Frank Vogel
and the mar De Rozan. So he wears his G
him hat occasionally and then when things are not only
he wants, then he kind of takes the hat off.

(01:21:12):
And he said that when the trade went down that
he didn't know anything about it. I had a problem
with that because you're the person helped him get Anthony
Davis there. But moving on to the next topic. As
far as Draymond is concerned, I think that the league
allows him to do certain things. But then what happens

(01:21:35):
when you have a spillover? You know, he's going above
and beyond waving, you know, And I think in the
league they had, as you said before, there was the
lame Beard. There is the Rodman. There is you know,
players that have done stuff. Oakley was was tough. Oakley
did stuff, you know, but you know, the league allows

(01:21:55):
certain things. But now Draymond, I guess, is carrying it
over and now it's you know issues. But I still think,
like you said, Adam Silver has to step in and
have a little conversation with him again.

Speaker 2 (01:22:08):
All right, I heard especially with this comments, Rick, I
think it's I think it hurts the product of the league.
It hurts.

Speaker 4 (01:22:17):
All right, Yeah, I know.

Speaker 12 (01:22:20):
And as far as Pacquiao, I think, you know, at
forty six you should stay home. But then there's you know,
he wants to do it, so there's a probably a
bag out there, which is that's where it is in boxing.
Now there's a big bag out there and he may
or may not need it, but you know, he's getting
in the ring. I think it's okay as long as
everything goes well. But if he ends up getting a

(01:22:43):
Nate Robinson punch like he did and then everybody come,
you know, sucking air and gasping because he's laying on
the mat, So.

Speaker 2 (01:22:55):
That's a factor.

Speaker 12 (01:22:56):
Yeah, yeah, I just think he should, you know, stay
out of it or I don't know if what if
he turns sixty and he still won't forget in the ring,
there should be a little bit bad and like, no, no,
we're not going to be responsible, or whoever ntion, No,
we're not responsible. So you're doing it at forty six
he might Now if he goes in and knocks the

(01:23:18):
guy in the first round, it's you know, oh wow,
he still had it.

Speaker 2 (01:23:22):
Yeah yeah, Rick, thanks a lot, buddy, appreciate your thoughts.
And the fight will be here in Vegas. So apparently
the Nevada Boxing Commission has and in fact sank sanctioned.
Michael African, you're up next.

Speaker 24 (01:23:32):
Welcome in, Mike, Good morning, Bernie, good morning. And again
you always hit me on topic, so I'll keep.

Speaker 4 (01:23:39):
It un rolling.

Speaker 11 (01:23:41):
I love your You're a bit about what kind of
fool of you?

Speaker 20 (01:23:43):
What's that called?

Speaker 2 (01:23:44):
Yeah, what kind of brand new fool of you that'll
be coming up?

Speaker 24 (01:23:47):
And yeah, so that's Greylond Green in my opinion right there,
you're not sell.

Speaker 2 (01:23:52):
You're you're not wrong because you think he'd know better
by now.

Speaker 24 (01:23:57):
Yeah, geezuz, I could be describe there's a quite angry
replicaun or a quite Irish Man. No, just he got
a technical, big deal. Okay, did you like the Celtics yesterday?

Speaker 16 (01:24:09):
They were pretty good?

Speaker 2 (01:24:12):
Well I did actually bet the Celtics and moving on
to a team that's no longer in the playoffs, Lebron's team.
Some of your thoughts, Mike on Lebron, of course, it's
in his right to not talk about Luca if he
doesn't want to. But look, he talks about everything else.

Speaker 24 (01:24:27):
Go ahead, Yeah, you mentioned a chain saw as well.

Speaker 16 (01:24:32):
I think you should. You should ask elon Mark.

Speaker 5 (01:24:34):
He's going to be.

Speaker 24 (01:24:35):
Retiring from the you should ask him for the chain saw.
My advice Lebron to Lebron, sorry, one more year, mentor
Luca have a real shot at a championship next year,
and get him a little bit in shape.

Speaker 5 (01:24:49):
That's all.

Speaker 16 (01:24:50):
It's simple.

Speaker 24 (01:24:51):
As a as a senior player on the on the.

Speaker 16 (01:24:53):
Team, I would do that anything on the many pack.

Speaker 24 (01:24:57):
Mike, Yes, he's forty takes. He's a for a back
of gold. I hope he doesn't get injured. He's trying
to relive the old days. He should hang up the gloves.
So why don't they just dig up George Foreman and
Muhammad Ali and have him go at it and come
on for boxing. That's that's an old man and that Okay,
I'm gonna have one last comment.

Speaker 10 (01:25:17):
Okay, the bear, the Bears, the Pope.

Speaker 5 (01:25:21):
Say the prayers.

Speaker 2 (01:25:23):
All right, thanks for checking in, Mike, appreciate it. And
uh uh, Look, I think most of the folks tonight
have been pretty much down the middle on this in
terms of Draymond's erratical you know behavior. Lebron is gonna
be Lebron, you know, and some people don't mind, and
most of us, frankly take umbrage. And then one of

(01:25:45):
the things he keeps coming up is Manny Pacio and
how much will he make in this fight. I'm gonna
I'm gonna look into that. I'm not sure if it's
money driven. I just think it's ego driven. Rick or
checked in. I'm sorry, Bryce in Texas. You will be
wrapped up for us tonight on the midnight hour.

Speaker 16 (01:26:01):
Welcome in, Hey so real quick.

Speaker 13 (01:26:06):
I was pulling in.

Speaker 23 (01:26:07):
I was going to just find Draymond Green earlier tonight
with his stuff on the court, and then you said
something that changed my mind. You said that he was
all final, really opened his mouth. Billy Graham once said,
if you want to know what you worship, look at
your bank account. Basically, don't tell me that your Christian
showed me. If he doesn't want to be viewed as
an angry person, stop being an angry person. Don't tell us,

(01:26:30):
show us.

Speaker 2 (01:26:31):
And you know what's interesting, Brice, stay right there, buddy,
because that's the bottom line here, and that is the
lack of accountability. People are merely responding, reacting to a
ten year consistent body of work, and now he kicked
it up a notch by the comments he made in.

Speaker 23 (01:26:49):
A very angry tone too, which cracks me up. You
can't yell at somebody and be like, I'm not angry
without anyways.

Speaker 25 (01:26:57):
The second one with Lebron James real Fast is that
it doesn't surprise me that he's not talking about Luca,
because Lebron does show us who he is, and he's
not willing to talk about anything that he's not a
part of or actively doing.

Speaker 23 (01:27:08):
I believe that when they said that he had no
clue that Luca was coming over in the trade because
of his silence and because this was his idea. It
was the first thing that Planka did without really letting
him in on Lebron doesn't want anything to do with
it because it forces him to give credit to Planka
for doing something smart and.

Speaker 2 (01:27:27):
It's not you'll wonder, because he doesn't benefit, and he's
it's self serving. He doesn't. He just stays away from
it because he won't benefit from Luca's tenure with the Lakers, and.

Speaker 26 (01:27:37):
He's that it's weak weak it is, but but that,
but that goes exactly how Lebron james Is went in
his entire career, So it doesn't surprise me that he's
not willing to comment on this.

Speaker 23 (01:27:48):
The last thing, real fast is I'm not a big
boxing fan. I never really got into it as a kid.
I am a big tennis star fan. And if it
was like better coming back to one more Wimbledon thing
that he could win, just because he still thinks he can.
Like PLUMBERNOLDI did an amazing piece on him ten years
ago about him still thinking he can win. If pack
Yell still thinks he can win, I say go for it.

Speaker 2 (01:28:11):
Yeah, I mean, look, George, excellent call bri Ice, appreciate
you wrapping it up and upstanding everybody tonight and for
what it's worth. Look, I do think many would like
to earn a belt at forty six. I know that
in his career he's earned seven hundred and seventy five
million dollars. That's, you know, a good, good little piece

(01:28:35):
of change. You know, he's he's you know not he's
just a couple hundred million under Mike Tyson and Floyd
Mayweather has made a billion. But look, Manny's made his money.
I haven't seen it publicized what the purse will be
on July nineteenth, And it turns out he's also rerunning.

(01:28:57):
He's campaigning to return to the in the Philippines, So
he's probably got a lot of things on his mind
right now. And I would just say this, the callers
are very sensible. Appreciate all the callers people who take
the time to call in. You add a lot to
the show. We don't agree on everything, nor should we.

(01:29:19):
The most boring conversations are when everybody does agree. People
come you know where you sit is where you stand
on these issues. I think there's a common sense aspect
to the callers in terms of their thoughts and their perspective,
especially when it came to Manny. To the regular person
doesn't make sense, but to Manny, it might make perfect sense.
He's forty six, he's a trained killer, He's had seventy

(01:29:40):
five bouts, highly successful. He's probably stayed in shape. He
wants one more bite at the apple. And this is
not the first time he's done this. I don't think
many will embarrass himself. I think he was a little
embarrassed back in twenty twenty one. And who knows. I mean,
George Foreman, he couldn't get a state to, you know,
rest his soul. He couldn't get a state to sanction him.

(01:30:03):
And finally he did, and you know, he fought a
much younger Michael Moore. He got hit. He got hit
more times than Rocky bell Ball or Jordan Forema did.
But at the end he was the one left standing
and it became an incredible end to his story, to
his legacy, which was incredible. Speaking of legacies, once again,
the NBA has done an anonymous player poll. Some of

(01:30:25):
this stuff is pretty clever, some of it's kind of boring,
like who do you think will win the title the season?
By the way, fifty eight percent of the players said
they thought the Celtics. We'll see, maybe they will. But
there were other more revealing things like, how do they
feel about being accused of shooting too many threes? Or
who's the one player you'd least like to fight? Or

(01:30:45):
who's the worst coach in the league. We'll get to
that NBA anonymous pole coming up, by the way. For

All right back at the Bernie Frautle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Come to live from the Fox Sports Radio Las Vegas Studios.
Wanna thanks again big thanks again to all the midnight
hour callers. Outstanding perspectives. All yes, some of you're driving
on the freeways taking time to call real appreciate it's

(01:32:00):
a tremendous amount of the show gives multiple perspectives from
different parts of the country, and it helps to create
some texture to some of these topics we have. Look,
I've said it a thousand times. Sports are the greatest
reality show. You can script everything. But the ending and

(01:32:21):
the truth of the matter is, you know, we don't
have royalty in this country. Our athletes and our entertainers
are our royalty, and our athletes are entertainers. And so
you know, it's what I call the Michael Jackson syndrome.
The same media that builds you up can tear you
down if in fact your behavior warrants or can at
least be called into question. All right, it's all fair.

(01:32:44):
And when some of these athletes that are larger than
life choose to engage in behaviors that raise an eyebrow,
you're you're a public person. To some people you're a hero,
and to other people you're an entertainer. Other people, well,
you're whatever. But you're going to you know you're going

(01:33:05):
to elicit responses, and that's what the callers do, so
a great job, all right. In terms of speaking of responses,
the Athletic does a great job of this. Every year
they do this anonymous NBA player poll, and not everybody responds,
but this year you had about one hundred and sixty
players respond that's more than a third of the league.
And every you know, every team of the thirty teams

(01:33:29):
was represented in terms of their opinions here and it's
about a thirty day process and they asked the opinions
about the league's you know, best and worst organizations, most underrated,
overrated players, also all sorts of things. So I get
the things that are interested. I think you'd find most interesting.

(01:33:50):
This one not so much to me. Who's the MVP? Look,
Shay Gilgis and nikolea. Jokic got eighty four percent of
the votes at one hundred and fifty five, but SGA
was the clear winner all right. Last year in the
same poll, Nicola barely edged SGA by like four percentage points.
The truth of the matter is people, you know, the

(01:34:12):
players who see shake Gill just on the floor noticed
he averages like thirty three points a game, six assists.
He's he won his first MVP, and the majority of
players agree, all right, Number one team in the West,
one of a bunch of games. Took a bunch of
young guys to another level. They were without Isaiah Hartenstein
for a while, they were without Check Holman for a while.

(01:34:34):
They believe he's consistent, he stands out, he's efficient, and
everybody loves Joki, but Shaye deserves it and I have
to agree with that, okay, But Joki voters felt the
same way about him. He actually had better numbers, ironically
in the last three times he's won the MVP. But
you take him off the floor. Denver's not Denver. Let's
be honest. But again, that's that's a topic. That's like
arguing about your favorite noodland to play the spaghetti So

(01:34:58):
back in April, the Boston Celtics got the vast majority
of the votes fifty eight percent that they would be
the team that would win the title this season. Oklahoma
only seventeen percent, Cleveland ten. The Lakers actually got seven percent.
Are you kidding me? Based on what all right, well
forget it. The majority of the players polled said they

(01:35:20):
expect the Celtics to repeat because they believe the way
Boston stormed through last year playoffs returned all their key players,
managed to win sixty one regular season games, still are
able to win any given night bury a team with
an avalanche of three pointers. What's surprising to me, though,
is how overwhelming the vast majority fifty eight percent of

(01:35:42):
the people said Boston when winning, seventeen percent of the
people said Oklahoma City. The voters who chose the Celtics again,
these are guys on the floor. They think their team
chemistry is great. They got superstars, but they know their
roles and they put their egos aside. They've been there before.
They think Cleveland can give him a good run, but

(01:36:02):
Boston's been there before. The people who picked the Thunder
they felt they go, hey, they go ten min deep,
which they do, deep roster, they play the right way.
Gonna be toughing to cover all those guys, but I'll
tell you what, they run into a team Denver in experience,
this is a great series. It's gonna be a great series,
and I don't know who's gonna win. A topic that
I think will get more traction five years from now,

(01:36:25):
not now, but five years from now. Who are the
players in this anonymous pool believe will be the face
of the league? Overwhelmingly fifty four wemby Victor Wembinyana now
Anthony Edwards no slouch, got fourteen percent of the vote.
Shay Gill just got eleven percent of the vote. After that,
it drops off tremendously. If you're wondering about Luca, he

(01:36:48):
got two percent of the vote. If you're wondering about
John Moran, he got two percent of the vote. But
almost everyone seems to agree that Victor Wembnyama is kind
of the chosen one. However, he's had a bit of
a healthcare the end of the season in mid February,
and so you know, the truth of the matter is,
I think depending on how far Anthony Edwards goes in

(01:37:08):
the playoffs, he says he has no interest in the honor,
which I doubt that, but he can say that. But
as Shakespeare once said, heavy is the head of where's
the crown? You know a lot of I'm channing Fry
said what two three months ago? Quote, why do you
want to be the face of the league when all

(01:37:29):
the people who cover our game and talk about our
game on a day to day basis ish on everybody.
That's not fair. Come on, man, don't beat so thin skin.
They listen. We are in a society that build people
up to their highest plateau only to tear them down

(01:37:50):
just the way it is. You could be a ballplayer,
you could be a president, you can be anything, an actor,
but you don't take with a grain of salt because
you're paying attention to Again, we don't have royalty in
this country. They don't issue on everybody. They call him
out when when things are going well, they call it,
and when things aren't they call it as well. That's
what the job of the media is. True. Journalism is

(01:38:12):
dead in this country, but there's plenty of outlets where
you can see the filter through someone who does this
for a living. Okay, who's the league's most overrated player?
Now you heard Mark Madina and I talk about this.
This shocked me because look how Grady's playing. Tyrese Halliburton.
Now the ninety votes cast, he got the most fourteen percent,

(01:38:34):
but Rudy Gobert, Trey Young, Jimmy Butler were behind him.
Like twenty five players got votes all right. Thirty three
players received at least one vote now the rationale for
Tyrese Halliburton, who led the Pacers to the Eastern Conference

(01:38:56):
Finals last year and not only shot nine from the
floor but got like nine ausists the game. The respondence
theorized that maybe Tyre's Haliburton got too much credit for
that playoff run because Indiana ran Milwaukee off the floor
in the first round, but they didn't have Giannis. But
that's not his fault. Okay, you play who gets off

(01:39:17):
the bus. Tyreus Halliburton's really had some clutch shots. By
the way, don't tell his dad this. I know it's
old news now, it happened nine days ago. But what
the hell was that all about? I might have a
thing or two about a little league dead in the
and then what kind of brand new fool of you
are coming up here? But look, Rudy Gobert and Trey

(01:39:37):
Young finished first and third respectively last year. There's still
top of mind. Gobert has won the NBA Defensive Player
of the Year four times, but they're still skeptics about
what Gobert brings. One unknown, one anonymous player said, quote,
I don't understand the Defensive Player of the Year stuff,
But you don't guard the people who have the ball
most of the time, the ones who are making most

(01:39:58):
of the decisions. Okay, that's it. Side A player on
the floor would see night in, night out eighty two
times as opposed to a fan looking and you know
on the TV tube. Who's the league's most underrated player? Again?
A bunch of people got votes? Okay, seventy five players
received at least one vote, but Kate Cunningham got the most.

(01:40:20):
I don't know if people think he's underrated anymore. And
Piston's had a hell of a job this year. Derek
White might be at Boston. He's a you know, quietly
goes about his business. Well, Lou Dort made the list,
Peyton Pritchard made the list. A bunch of I mean,
seventy five guys, he can't name them all. How about
nas Reed, He only evely got one percent of the
Jason Tatum, who I think is a terrific player, Maybe

(01:40:41):
he really is truly underrated. Okay. The reason Kate Cunningham
is at the top is because I think before this
year he was in relative obscurity in Detroit, and you know,
he it's been a rough couple of decades for Detroit
prior to what happened three weeks ago, they hadn't won

(01:41:03):
a playoff game since two thousand and eight. So this
is this game to the meet that I find interesting.
Who is the league's best organization? Golden State Warriors twenty
two percent of the vote. Not close, Well, Oklahoma City
was seventeen percent, Boston fifteen, the Clippers eight percent of
the vote, the Lakers only five. Now makes perfect sense

(01:41:24):
the Warriors would win this one, Okay. They do have
a great reputation around the league as to how they
treat their players or sort of a positivity. And the Warriors, look,
they've won four championships in the last ten years. They've
come close a few times, say for injuries, it might
have happened. Look one player who used to play for

(01:41:44):
the organization, here's a good he said they were all
first class. Steve Kerr came from San Antonio. He knew
a lot of the principles. They do a really good
job of taking care of the players and their families.
The resulted the Celtics, they got some love to right. Yes,
it was the title run. They've reached the conference finals

(01:42:05):
six times. There By the way, the Okse Thunder runaway
winners of the Front Office Ranking survey, which was six
months ago. They were the second place finisher. Yes, they
haven't won a title, and they played one of the
league's smallest markets. But the truth of the matter is
from the top down, their owner and the empowers his

(01:42:25):
basketball people to run the ship the way they do,
gives them the autonomy to do their job. It's a
solid working environment. From what they say. Clippers owner Steve
Balmer is a guy. I don't know how you don't
root for this guy. He's very visible, he's very involved,
he's widely known. He's sort of a dream guy to
work for in terms of the way he pays his people.

(01:42:46):
But the lay he's put, you know, sunk so much
into the organization in Los Angeles for the Clippers, the
infrastructure of the staff and the resources. But he's also
got a passion. I think that's infectious. It's kind of
a driving force. It resonates with all of his employees,
including the players. It's a good culture. You know, if
the basketball gods, maybe Minnesota, you know, they can throw

(01:43:08):
them a nod. So our esteam boss, Scott Shapiro, could
you know, celebrate with this team and maybe down the road,
maybe our good friend Ben mallor they'll allow the Clippers
of basketball gods one time. It blows me away about
this year. I don't want to get off topic.

Speaker 7 (01:43:25):
This was the year.

Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
How many times we've heard, man, what could the Clippers
do if they had a healthy Kawhi and you got
other players too, including James Harden. Well, you had the
healthy core and they couldn't get out of the first round.
Gotta be maddening. Well, you can't have a vote with
the league's best organization without all also having you know,

(01:43:47):
who is the league's worst organization? This? I don't know how.
I'm not qualified to speak intelligently on this. All I
know is the Charlotte horne has got thirty nine percent
of the vote, and Charlotte Horrits are one of two
teams to never have reached the conference finals. Okay, although, well,

(01:44:07):
the original Charlotte Hornets, who joined the NBA in nineteen
eighty eight, moved to New Orleans became the Pelicans. Charlotte
got a new expansion team twenty years ago on h five.
They were the Bobcats. Remember that, how'd that work out?
Then they became the Hornets again. In twenty fifteen. Either way,
they've never been advanced beyond the conference semi finals, so
maybe that's why the Wizards got some votes. Blah blah blah.

(01:44:31):
So for what it's worth, I don't know the details.
Did the Charlotte Hornets or voted the league's worst organization?
So this is also an interesting one to answer, aside
from your own current coach. Again, what was the you know,
anonymous answer among the voters, aside from your own current coach,

(01:44:55):
who's the best coach in the league? While Mark Dagnol
of the OKC Thunder, even though he didn't win Coach
of the Year, but the players made it clear his
reputation is big time on the rise. Why the culture
he creates. They buying together, they work together, they have
fun and play the game with joy. And so he

(01:45:16):
was moving up the ranks in this anonymous poll and
now he's top And Kenny Atkinson, who's coach of the
Year at Cleveland, he got thirty percent of the vote.
Eric Spolstro doesn't surprise me. He's the longest tenured coach.
Joel Missoula twelve percent. There's your top four. The more
I observe Joel Mizoula. The more I really like him.

(01:45:36):
He's a very very interesting guy. Again, the flips out
of the coin. Aside from you and current coach, who's
the worst coach in the league. Well, the Wizards didn't
win a lot of games this year, so Brian Keef
got the honors there. Washington has started the full rebuild

(01:45:57):
a couple of years ago. He played rookies, a lot
of rookies and a lot of second year guys, and
it'd be tough for any coach to win games with
that roster. So I don't know, I don't know. Maybe
one player said, you know, coaches are you know, handicapped
by whether or not their players get hurt, whether or
not the front office does the right thing. He just coach,

(01:46:19):
brought up Nick Nurse. He's a good coach an the
right players right now. He went it all with Toronto
in twenty nineteen, Mike Budenholzer finished second to Keief. He
got fired again for the second time in what four years.
All Right, we talked about this with Mark Medena. We
get into the fun part of the Interestingly enough, more

(01:46:41):
votes were cast for this than almost any any of
the topics. Which player in the league would you least
like to fight? Sixty four percent voted for James Johnson. Well,
James Johnson is a mixed martial artist. Okay, he's a
black belt, and I think he had twenty fights that

(01:47:06):
were sanctioned and he was twenty and zero. Isaiah Stewart
got thirteen percent of the vote. He plays for the Pistons.
His nickname is b ste He passed up Steven Adams
as the second most intimidating player in the NBA. Steven
Adams is now third and it's he apparently Isaiah Stewart.

(01:47:31):
I don't remember this event, but apparently Isaiah Stewart, who's
also called Big Dog, really allegedly chased Lebron all over
the floor in a November game back of twenty one
and received votes based on entirely that day. One anonymous
player described as quote big Dog and Detroit went crazy

(01:47:52):
on Lebron and Stewart is a guy who has plenty
of dust ups. Earlier this season, around Things Giving, he
had a verbal back and forth with James Johnson, who
got a technical from the bench, and then in the
same game he shoved Thomas Bryant, and then a few
months later in March. He was at the center of

(01:48:13):
that Piston's wolfsite. I remember that in Minnesota that had
seven ejections including him. And of course you all know
who Steven Adams is a good boss boy. Ever, I
you know, he seems like an interesting guy and he
looks like Jason Momoa. I don't know what his deal is. Apparently,

(01:48:34):
people who've tried to move him around the paint say
he's just so strong it's incredible. He's got a calm demeanor.
He doesn't say much or do much. But if you
ever got made one anonymous player said, he would just
overpower you and squish you with his thumb. You gotta
worry about the quiet ones. Those are the ones you
have to keep an eye for. I certainly agree with that.

(01:48:54):
This is another interesting question that the players answered very candidly.
I think the most votes for this in the three
point revolution age. Are analytics good or bad for the
game and why? Thirty nine percent of the NBA players
said they're bad for the game, twenty eight percent said
they're good, and the rest were somewhere in the middle.
One of the biggest criticisms about the NBA is you

(01:49:17):
see less variety than you ever have. The three point
shot is at the heart of the debate. I mean,
they shoot more threes, they miss more threes than any
other era. It's not even close. You emphasize threes and
you have size laps. It's not a new trend, but
the trends accelerating. There are nine teams in NBA history
that have attempted thirty four hundred threes in a single season,

(01:49:38):
and four of them did it this season. The Celtics, Warriors, Bulls,
and Calves. The mid range shot, post up play. You
don't see it much, do you. That's a skill set
that's going by the way of the Dodo bird, a
plurality to players. Okay again, thirty nine percent they think
analytics are bad for the game. Why do they say that?

(01:49:59):
A This is some thoughtful stuff coming from the players.
I like hearing these types of thoughts. One anonymous player said, quote,
the game is art. It's like telling a painter, who
have to include the numbers with your imagination. It hurts
your creativity. This is art, it's painting on canvas. You
might tell somebody the three point shot in the layup
is the best shot in the game, but sometimes the

(01:50:21):
best shot in the game is the in between shot.
In my opinion, it's not white or black. I think
creativity is about gray areas. That's what creativity is. It's
taking the out out of the game. It's robotic. Fans
don't want to watch that now. It's doing more harm
than good. I don't disagree, man. You know, go back
to the Showtime Lakers and start there. Basketball is really

(01:50:41):
entertaining when you see movement and passing and playmaking and
getting to the hoop and making the extra pass as
opposed to go down, jack up a three, get back
on defense. Now you look at stats determine if players
good or not. Look, I think NBA player are unbelievably skilled,

(01:51:02):
gifted athletes.

Speaker 22 (01:51:05):
And.

Speaker 2 (01:51:07):
Left to their devices, I think they'll make decisions on
the floor to take away from the game of basketball.
I'll never forget this years and years ago, you know,
long before the Jordan versus Lebron debate, which I don't
care what anybody says. I'll take Jordan all day, every day.
I don't care. I saw him both play court side.

(01:51:27):
If you didn't see him both play courtside, refuge yourself
in the argument. Okay, If I have one game to win,
and my life depends on I'm going Michael j end
of story. Okay, many years ago, the late great chick
Hearn was asked who would win in a one on
one contest between Jordan Magic because some people thought Magic,
some people thought Jordan. Chick Currn simply said, don't ask

(01:51:49):
me any dumb questions. Basketball is a team game. Oftentimes
a regular season version doesn't look like a team game. Now,
I think the product in the postseason's been much better. Okay. Now,
there are some players who say analytics have a positive impact. Okay,
they think it helps you determine whether a players good

(01:52:10):
or not. I don't know. They asked whether or not
they like Adam Silver's idea all possibly change into ten
minute quarters. Seventy nine percent said no, move along, nothing
to see it, don't change that. Okay, it's not about
being a purist. Don't change anything. Okay. With the league
allowing more physicality on the defensive vent, is there enough

(01:52:30):
balance in today's game or is it still slanted toward offense? Nope?
Fifty six percent said it's still slanted too much towards offense.
Last one, and this is a highly charged one. Are
the NBAS gambling partnerships good or bad for the league
and why forty six percent of the players said they're bad.

(01:52:52):
And I think there have been I get it, okay. Now,
John Tay Porter the Raptors was banned for the league.
He bet on games. He was involved then apparently and
shared inside info. Make no mistake, the NBA got riden
for optics, okay. And I know there have been many
incidents where players have been accosted. You missed that for

(01:53:13):
you free throw? It costs me my over under. That's
one of the unintended consequences of gambling in sports. The
truth of the matter is it's been proven time and
time again because legalized betting is now come out of
the shadows, and with the overturning of PASPA back in

(01:53:34):
twenty eighteen, is legal now with thirty three states.

Speaker 13 (01:53:36):
Or so.

Speaker 2 (01:53:37):
And many others have legislation to legalize it. People watch
more when they got something on the line. It may
be a twenty five point blow up, but they'll stay
with the game in the last minute to see if
it goes over or they hit their player. Prop You
get the picture. So interesting stuff, I thought. I credit
to the NBA players for taking time to give some thoughtful,
thoughtful answers to these to these questions. Well, you may

(01:54:00):
think it's the NFL offseason, but the NFL off season
has several parts. Okay, you got the coaching cycle, the
free agency, now the draft and the follow up. The
NFL calendar rages on. I will share with you what's
on the docket because we're already into me. Were three

(01:54:25):
months past the Super Bowl. We're closer to a training
camp now. But we got rookie mini camps and you
got the NFL schedule release. They're gonna rule in the
tush push band. You got voluntary OTAs. I'm gonna get
to all that, so you can get your pens and
pencils out and be brought up to date on the
NFL calendar because it very much rages on. I'm Bernie Fradle.

(01:54:47):
We are come to your line from the Las Vegas
Fox Sports Radio direct Whoop, I blew it. They're a
great sponsor Fox Sports Radio, Las Vegas Studios. Keep it locked.
Listen to the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
We're back on the Bernie Fratter Show, Fox Sports Radio,
eleven minutes top of the hour of the dance sensation

(01:55:08):
sweep of the national kind of brand new fool you've
followed by what my name? If you think the NFL
has an offseason, well fill me in, because I don't
see it. Because even though the games are played in September, October, November, December, January,
and into February, the NFL has an amazing way of

(01:55:29):
creating a calendar that never goes away. The indulgence in
the draft for a full week a couple weeks back.
So what's up next? Because the off season is multiple phases.
The coaching cycle. We're through that now, the hirings and firings,
the free agency phase two, then the draft. Now we're

(01:55:50):
in what may seem like the longest phase and the
slowest moving phase. But if you pay attention, there's a
lot of activity because this is the time when a
fifth round rookie elect Shador Sanders can make a name
for himself, or maybe a forty one year old veteran
like Aaron Rodgers. What's he going to do next? Go

(01:56:11):
back to Egypt for a vacation, or go to Pittsburgh
or nothing, or go on the Pat McAfee show. We
are in the midst of rookie mini camps, big serious business.
Some of the NFL teams started the ninth which is Thursday,
and they'll wrap up today Sunday to twelfth. Others started Friday,
they'll end up.

Speaker 13 (01:56:28):
But you get it.

Speaker 2 (01:56:30):
Every team in their facility, all their rookies and undrafted
free agents, they're going to spend three days and they're
what you would call the version the NFL's version of
job orientation. You're fitted for equipment, you're introduced to the staff,
and you are allowed ten hours a day at the facility.
Now coaches will start to talk about their playbooks, which

(01:56:55):
if your Chadur Sanders are dealing Gabriel, both quarterbacks drafted
in Cleveland. By the way, I heard somebody say they
thought Kenny Pickett was getting cut. I'd be shocked. If
he's cut, What do you do If Joe Flacckel goes down,
You're gonna give the job to Dylan Gabriel or Shodoor Sanders.
Come on, you may or may not like Kenny Pickett.
I don't care. He's fifteen and ten as a starter

(01:57:15):
who completed sixty two percent of his passes. He knows
how he's been in an NFL field. You can't go
in that barn. Now one of the two are getting cut.
I think Gid Dylan Gabriel or Shodoor Sanders, or they'll
lind up on the practice squad. But that's what rookie
camp is for, all right. Sanders got to Cleveland early
last week. He's been working out. He went to Thinks

(01:57:37):
some high school to work out and had had some
fans cheering for him. Jalen Milroe, he's already in a
Seahawks uniform taking snaps. Things look promising. The next big
thing this Wednesday, this schedule release. Now we already know
all the opponents for all thirty two teams, but you
don't know when and where they play. But you do
know this. The Browns, Jets, and Jaguars will play games

(01:57:58):
in London this year. Chargers will play a game in Brazil,
Steelers will play a game in Ireland, the Coasts will
play a game in Germany, and the Dolphins in Spain.
Five different countries. The following Wednesday. Remember the tush push
ban they went over with in the meetings. Then they
couldn't come to a conclusion. Well, it needs twenty four
votes to pass, all right. Kind of like the NFL's

(01:58:21):
version of the conclave. They're gonna pick a whether or
not the tush. They're gonna ban the tush push. Now
you get into late May and early June, it starts
to get more real voluntary OTAs, which stands for official
team activities.

Speaker 5 (01:58:34):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:58:34):
And again back to Shidoor Sanders. He's gonna compete with
Dylan Gabriel and you know, can you pick it? Even
Joe Flacco, he'll be part of those OTAs. No live contact,
but seven on seven, eleven on eleven drills. Post June one,
you start to get into cuts, trades, cap space, free agency.

Speaker 14 (01:58:54):
Uh, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:58:55):
Uh. And then June ten and between June tenth and twelfth,
those are the men indatory mini camps. Now Varon Rodgers
isn't in Pittsburgh by then, I don't know what the
hell's going on. Okay, that ends the nine week voluntary
off season program. And now you might get to see
Shodoor Sanders take reps with the entire Browns offense. But
I think he's fourth on the death chart right now,

(01:59:16):
just my humble opinion. Then you got franchise tag and
then you get to mid July, and there you go
teams are in camp, and believe me, it's gonna go fast.
You know it is the NFL is you know the
world right now coming up? What kind of brand new
fool you followed by? What my name? Keep it locked?
You're listening to the Bernie Frattle Show Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:59:39):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (01:59:42):
Well, that trait you heard, the man Bernie Frattle Show
keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie Frattler. We're
coming to the line from the Fox Sports Radio studios
here in Las Vegas. We'll take up to three m Pacific,
six am Eastern Ben a RockA show. Appreciate again all
the callers in the men that hour, But we have
come to that juncture in the show. You know you
love it. You can't leave without it. The dance sensation

(02:00:04):
sweep in the nation, you see, because as Yogi Berra
once said, we can observe a lot by watching, which
is what we do. Because every day, all day, across
this great land of ours, from sea to oily Sea
and around the globe, well, people engage in behaviors, and
sometimes these behaviors, well they raise questions and raise eyebrows,
and you know, oftentimes they're innocuous and silly and harmless.

(02:00:27):
But many other times they can be more serious, run
a foul of law, and even in land you in jail.
But any way you slice it, any way you characterize it,
any way you describe these behaviors, will they always leave
us scratching our heads and asking us, what kind of
brand new fool are you? So?

Speaker 1 (02:00:53):
What kind of brand new fool are you?

Speaker 2 (02:00:56):
So? Today we take you to New Jersey and little
league baseball is off and running off around all around
the country. And it's, you know, an honorable thing to
coach a little league team. And even Yogi Berra once
said the thing I like most about little league baseball
it keeps parents off the streets. Well, he might not

(02:01:18):
be wrong. We'll take you to Manchester, New Jersey. Thank you, Mark,
And we introduced you to a Michael W's. He seems
like an upstanding man. He's fifty two years old. He's
an employer for the State Division of Child Protection and Permanency,
and he's also the manager and treasurer for a ten

(02:01:41):
under travel baseball team. According to well the authorities, and
part of that, you know, they've got a budget and
they've got money in the coffers, and the money is
used to you know, buy equipment and pay entry fees
for tournaments and other team related expenses. Unfortunately, about sixty
five hundred dollars went missing. So what do you do

(02:02:06):
when you discover thousands of dollars had been stolen from
the youth baseball team. Well, the coaches and team representatives
called the police, and unfortunately for Michael W, they thought
they believed that Michael W was quote misappropriating the money

(02:02:29):
is that the players had raised from fundraising activities a
total of sixty five one hundred dollars. Well, as the
story continues, it became known that Michael W, if he
didn't come clean, would face charges of theft of over
sixty five hundred issuing a bat check over five hundred.

(02:02:50):
But was it going to be arrested yet? So Michael
W swings into action. He does whatevery brand new fool
would do.

Speaker 1 (02:03:01):
Well.

Speaker 2 (02:03:01):
His intentions were good. He wanted to pay the money back.
So what does he do? He goes to a town
called Berkeley and tries to rob a bank. Tries to
rob a bank because he honestly wanted to make good
on his debt, because he had pissed away a large
amount of cash that was meant for equipment and things

(02:03:24):
of that nature. Well, Berkeley police said he held up
a bank on Jamaica Boulevard in a shopping center. He
was actually wearing a mask, dark clothing, making off with
an unsclosed amount of cash, but no weapon was showed,
No interests were reported, but regardless, the patrol officers and
detectives secured the area. They obtained surveillance footage from nearby homes.

(02:03:45):
They spotted mister W's car. By the way, it was
a company vehicles the Division of Child Protection and Permancy
parked a distance away from the mall, because you know,
he wanted to trick the detective.

Speaker 4 (02:04:00):
The guy's a bum.

Speaker 2 (02:04:02):
That's a good one. So so here's a guy coaches
little league, steals sixty five hundred dollars meant for equipment,
wants to pay it back, and oh, by the way,
he robs a bank to try to pay it back.
Now he's facing all kinds of chargers and he's in
big trouble. And the story started to boor me. So
I have nothing left to say except to say, Michael W.

(02:04:26):
What kind of brand new fool of you? Okay, Brianna,
you're up next.

Speaker 8 (02:04:32):
Yeah, that's always the right idea, right, I don't have
the money, so let me go rob a bank.

Speaker 9 (02:04:37):
Yeah, that's always He's.

Speaker 2 (02:04:38):
A brand new fool, all right.

Speaker 8 (02:04:40):
Yeah, So we're actually going to head out of the
country and we're gonna go to Vancouver. A Vancouver man,
Tyler Long, faces chargers of first degree burgerley, first degree theft,
first and second degree criminal mischief, first degree, aggravated theft,
and aggravated identity theft. So all of those charges and

(02:05:02):
what he was doing he was cutting or he was
stealing merchandise worth tens of thousands of dollars, cutting his
way through stores walls, so kind of entering one store
and then cutting his way into the next one. So
from mid November to late December, he busted into four stores,

(02:05:24):
a AT and T store, a pawn shop, a jewelry store,
and a nail shop, which.

Speaker 9 (02:05:29):
Is super weird. So he would break and he brought
He broke into an empty.

Speaker 8 (02:05:34):
Real tape a retail space that shared a wall with
the business that he was specifically targeting, and cut a
hole into the wall to give him straight up access
to the adjacent store. At the first stop. It was
a AT and T store in North Portland. He is
accused of stealing three iPads, smartphones, a computer, a Wi

(02:05:54):
Fi router and a DVR, a customer's phone, and multiple
store keys. A week later, he hit a jewelry buyer
and took about six six hundred diamond earrings, five diamond
bracelets worth a combined total of over two thousand dollars,
and a tray of various pieces of jewelry worth about
one thousand dollars. Later that day, he tried to sell

(02:06:17):
five of the stolen diamond earrings at another pawn shop.
A month later, he struck again at another jewelry store
and made off with about twenty four thousand dollars in merchandise.
He got caught because his ex girlfriend tried to pawn
off some of the stolen jewelry and the pawn shop
employee recognized the items that had already belonged to the store. So,

(02:06:42):
I mean that was like a combined you know, Bonnie
and Clyde. Not very smart KINDI delio. The police executed
a search warrant on their home and found also ammunition,
gun holsters and gun magazines inside. He was previously convicted
of a possession of a gun aggravated. I didn't need
that to end methifanity mean possession. There's no bail at

(02:07:07):
this time, and he was obviously arrested with all those
charges that I first mentioned at the beginning of the story.
Tyler Long, dude, what kind of brand new fool are you?

Speaker 2 (02:07:18):
That is what you call a brand new fool?

Speaker 8 (02:07:21):
Wow, that's crazy. That's like some shawshing stuff, but like
shopping wise trying to cut through things.

Speaker 2 (02:07:26):
You know, good to see Canada getting into the act.
So bottom line is that's why we do this brand
new fool. It's just amazing these stories that are frankly,
they're published stories, and the brand new Fool segment's been
a staple of this show now for what three years?
Four years? All right? That will conclude another raucous segment

(02:07:49):
of what kind of brand new fool you, which follows
up with our second favorite bit that we refer to
as what my name? All right? Boxing is in the
news with Manny Pacio, So we thought we'd start with
a boxing question. My nickname was the greatest, and I

(02:08:11):
had a statement I can float like a butterfly and
sting like a bee. A'm a boxer, former boxer, of course,
Mark Ramsey. What my name.

Speaker 9 (02:08:23):
Muhammad Ali? Almost nicely done?

Speaker 2 (02:08:26):
All right?

Speaker 1 (02:08:27):
Well, wow, bonus points.

Speaker 2 (02:08:28):
Mark, nicely done? Alright. Now we flip to baseball. Baseball
is in full swing. All right. Even though I make
thirty million a year, I refuse to play first base
for my team. And now it has made front page news.

(02:08:49):
Here's a clue. I play for an American League East
team in the same division as the Yankees, Brianna.

Speaker 9 (02:08:57):
What my name Raphael Devers?

Speaker 2 (02:09:00):
It is Rafael Devers. Of course. We had our guy
Jeff Austin on a few weeks ago when Devers is
fighting to give up third base when they got Alex
Bregman and he went to DH And now just just
a bad look all the way around for Raffeyel Devers.

Speaker 8 (02:09:14):
So dramatic.

Speaker 2 (02:09:17):
So back to football. I am the Raiders all time
leader as a quarterback in touchdown passes with two hundred
and fifty five. Mark Ramsey is my name? Jim Plunkett,
Kenny Stabler or Derek Carr.

Speaker 9 (02:09:39):
Can we eliminate Darryl Lamonica?

Speaker 2 (02:09:42):
We can eliminate Darryl Lomnica.

Speaker 9 (02:09:43):
It's a good name, though, is it Plunkett?

Speaker 2 (02:09:45):
It is not Jim Plunkett, although he did win two
Super Bowls. I'm the all time quarterback Raiders leading touchdown passer.
Jim Plunkett, Darryl Lamonica, Kenny Stabler, or Derek Carr. Brianna,
what my name?

Speaker 9 (02:10:04):
That's Derek Carr.

Speaker 2 (02:10:05):
It is, in fact Derek Carr, who uh, I'll get
through his retirement. A little bit later, he gave up
thirty million to retire. I've always run hot and cold
on Derek Carr, but you can't deny he did. He
did lead the Raiders all time and touchdown passes all right.
Back to baseball. I am now the first Major League
baseball field manager to be fired this season. Here's a clue.

(02:10:31):
I have the same first name as the Raider quarterback
who threw the most touchdown passes in a career. Brianna,
what my name.

Speaker 9 (02:10:40):
Derek Something?

Speaker 2 (02:10:42):
It is Derek Something. It was the Pittsburgh Pirates. Oh
the team.

Speaker 8 (02:10:47):
I'm sorry, No, no, not the team.

Speaker 2 (02:10:50):
What's the name of the manager? It did's ob scure, I.

Speaker 8 (02:10:52):
Wouldn't it's I'm just gonna say Langley. I don't know.
I completely forgot all right.

Speaker 2 (02:11:00):
It's not Derek Langley. So Mark, I'm the first major
league baseball manager to be fired in the twenty twenty
five season. So you know my first name is Derek.
Here's a good clue for you, Mark, I have the
same last name as a very famous country star whose
first name happens to be Blake.

Speaker 9 (02:11:21):
Mark with my name, Blake Shelton.

Speaker 2 (02:11:25):
You got the last name, right, what's the first name
is it?

Speaker 27 (02:11:30):
Put the two together, Blake Shelton.

Speaker 9 (02:11:35):
I'm sorry, I get I'm all confused.

Speaker 2 (02:11:37):
So he's got the same first name as the Raiders quarterback.

Speaker 1 (02:11:43):
It is, in fact, Derek Shelton.

Speaker 2 (02:11:45):
We'll give you credit. What the hell my clues are, Plucky. Now,
I happen to be the all time Raiders quarterback in
terms of leader in passing yards.

Speaker 8 (02:12:01):
Brianna, with my name, I'm gonna go Kenny Stabler just
because you brought him up earlier, I.

Speaker 2 (02:12:06):
Should give you choices Stabler, Jim Plunkett or Derek Carr.

Speaker 8 (02:12:10):
I just go Derek Carr again to the retirement game.

Speaker 2 (02:12:13):
It is Derek Carr. And I'm not a Derek Carr fan,
but I have to give the man his props because
in his you know, tenure as a Raider never won
a playoff game. I thought when the game mattered most,
he was not at his best. But he did lead
the team all time in touchdown passes and in passing yards. Okay,

(02:12:36):
final one, Mark, I just know you're gonna get this
one because just because, for multiple reasons, even though it's
been thirty nine years, I still hold the NBA playoff
record for scoring the most points in an NBA playoff
game was sixty three. I will give you a clue, Mark,

(02:12:57):
he played in the city you're very familiar with. He's
a Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson or Michael Jordan.

Speaker 9 (02:13:08):
Oh, Michael Jordan.

Speaker 2 (02:13:09):
It is, in fact Michael Jordan when April of nineteen
eighty six scored sixty three points in a playoff game,
never been broken.

Speaker 9 (02:13:19):
I thought you were gonna go for Bob Butterbean.

Speaker 2 (02:13:21):
Love, another Chicago guy. Well, to be fair, the game
actually had to go double overtime, but it didn't matter. Jordan, Man, dude,
he's still still got it. I'm a big Michael Jordan fan.
All right, great job tonight on what kind of brand
new fool and what my name? That will conclude another

(02:13:44):
rousing edition of those two episodes, and thanks for all
the participation. By the way, let's real quickly deal with
the Derek Carr retirement because it's been reported, by the way,
he gave up thirty million to retire, and it's been
awkward for months. Frankly, Okay, I think you know in

(02:14:06):
a nutshell, Derek Carr will give up thirty million in
fully guaranteed pay that would have been his base salary
for twenty twenty five. Car that will get to keep
a ten million dollar roster bonus that he earned in March. Also,
the Saints will not seek recovery or the remaining allocation

(02:14:28):
of a twenty eight million dollars signing bonus that he
got back in twenty twenty three. Now, Car had options.
He could have undergone shoulder surgery, not played this year,
pocketed the thirty million, and made a decision later about
his future after the Soldier shirt the shoulder surgery. But
what this path does is allow him to delay the surgery,

(02:14:52):
maybe never have to get the surgery. Since he's not
going to play football, he can avoid recovery rehab and
I think you know that he's Look, don't cry any tears.
For he's at a he's at a career, he's made
over two hundred million dollars in career earnings. And the
truth of the matter is he's tried to he's tried
to work this through rehab, He's taken injections, and he

(02:15:14):
delayed it. And the medical evaluations determined he would have
needed a shoulder procedure, a surgical procedure completely necessary to
fully repairs which happens to be his his throwing arm right.
And apparently last month, while he was trying to ramp
up Carr was trying to ramp up his workouts, he

(02:15:36):
started to experience a lot of pain. And that pain
came when he, you know, the acid test was throwing
a football. So he started to throw a football at
a more significant volume during his workouts. And when you
look at look, December was not a nice month for
Derek Carr. He not only had the shoulder injury, he
had a concussion and a left hand injury. And the

(02:16:00):
medical scans determined that he had a label tear. This
is serious business. But he's also got degenerative issues in
his rotator cuff. Right. Let's say car would have gotten
the surgery today he'd been sidelined minimum through Thanksgiving, so
he would have been on injured reserve for the entire
season for next year. Just no way around that. So

(02:16:22):
rather than go through that process, he says, look, I've
played eleven years, thirty four years old, only able to
play ten games last season because of the hand injury
against the New York Giants. Then he cleared concussion protocol.
Then he missed the final four games and entered his
right shoulder on the play his final play, and he

(02:16:44):
basically says, look, he's seen the MRI reports, he's been
in constant communication with the medical staff. But he also said,
we're going to figure it out, We're going to go
forward with it. So I've never really taken Derek car seriously.
I know that when they're thoughts that the Raiders were
going to move on from him for obvious reasons with
two games to go. Three years ago before that, he said, no,

(02:17:08):
if if the Raiders trade me, I'll play golf re
us of my life. I'll ever be a Raider. Then
he ends up going to the Saints, and you know,
I think Saints fans would agree he was fairly underwhelming
with the Saints, But look, he had an eleven year career.
He did have two years remaining on a four year
deal for a buck fifty. The team even restructured the
deal to make it a one year agreement. They saved

(02:17:28):
thirty million on the salary cap. No car again keeps
the ten million dollar bonus, but wives the waves off
on the thirty million two years. Did his numbers look terrible? No,
six thousand yard it's forty touchdowns, thirteen interceptions. I think
that was very, very, you know, sort of deceiving. I
didn't care for him with the Raiders. I just don't

(02:17:48):
think he's a high leverage player in high leverage moments.
Just just my opinion, Okay, but I think his legacy secure.
He played quarterback in the NFL for eleven years. I
know he was way under five hundred with the Raiders
as he started. Same with the Saints. But you're not
gonna have Derek Carr to kick around anymore. Coming up,
I want to get to the Cleveland Browns quarterback room.

(02:18:10):
It's a weird quarterback room, and you wonder what the
hell they're gonna do because it's a little bit more
complicated than you think. By the way you can stream

to the Bernie Fraule Show. We're back in the Bernie
Frattle Show, Fox Sports Radio comingy line from the Las

(02:18:56):
Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. Take up to three am Pacific,
six am Eastern. Have you noticed what the Dodgers are
doing this year? They've won twenty six games. They've won
more games than any other team in the National League.
And I told you a while back, don't hate on

(02:19:19):
the Dodgers. It's not that they just outspent everybody. Okay,
that's not fair. They aren't doing anything any other of
the teams can't, right, other teams offered Choliotani seven hundred million.
He wanted to be with the Dodgers. Same with Yamamoto.
He had a twelve year, three hundred and twenty five
dollars three hundred twenty five million dollar contract offer on

(02:19:40):
the table with the Mets. He chose the Dodgers. Roasi
Sasaki he chose the Dodgers. Left four million on the
table that the Potteries offered him. Ti Oscar hernanders Is
having a fabulous year, left five million on the table,
maybe six million to stay with the Dodgers. Why, he said,
quote the Dodgers they're different, different. They think about everybody,

(02:20:01):
not only the players. One of the things I can
do in the field. For me, they just give me
the confidence I never got that other places that I work. Now, well,
the Dodgers repeat, I don't know nobody's done it in
twenty five years, but believe me, they're gonna be in
the postseason tournament and it will be a great story
to watch. And if you follow this team even casually,
they just continue to do things that you say, just

(02:20:26):
when you think you've seen it all, you see something new.
Friday Night, the Dodgers became the only team in Major
League Baseball history two first. They took the lead in
the games it is at Arizona courtesy my buddy Doug Anderson.
They took the lead, then all of a sudden they
found themselves trailing by two runs. Then they took the

(02:20:48):
lead again and led by five runs. Then somehow they
fell behind by three runs. Then they finally won the
game by three runs. All the same game. Get the lead,
surrounded the lead, trail by two, then lead by five,
then trail by three, then lead by three. They win

(02:21:09):
the game, all in the same game. They've been playing
Major League Baseball now for one hundred and fifty years.
That has never been done before until Friday night. Like
I said, with the Dodgers, well, just when you think
you've seen it all, you see something new. Sometimes that's
the case. And that other goofy sport they spell futbol,

(02:21:32):
they call it soccer. He'll be covered all on the
Bernie Fouder Show. It's time Chris Purfetts World.

Speaker 28 (02:21:37):
Of Soccer, the greatest goals, the thrilling finishes, the international drama.

Speaker 1 (02:21:55):
It's all here in this report from the World of Soccer.

Speaker 29 (02:21:59):
Harry Kane started playing top flight football at age seventeen
for fifteen seasons over six clubs. He has logged thirty
five thousand and fifty four minutes with three hundred and
ninety four starts and four hundred and thirty four matches,
plate two hundred and eighty seven goals scored sixty one assists.

(02:22:19):
But one thing you do not see on the legendary
status of a man who has spearheaded the English national team,
who was for the long time the captain of the
club Tottenham Hotspur. One of the big properties of England
was a title to his name, any kind of title,
Euros World Cup, Premier League, Champions League anything. It was

(02:22:43):
a big reason as to why the breakup between Harry
Kane and Tottenham happened in the first place, as Tottenham
eventually was starting to take a step back and Harry
Kane just simply wanted to win. Now that weight is
over and Harry Kane can finally count himself as a champion,
leading the German club Bayern Munich to a Bundesliga title
on one of the final match days for the German

(02:23:06):
domestic league. Yes, Bayern Munich back on top in Germany,
and much to do with it is the leg of
Harry Kane, responsible for twenty four goals this season for
the German Giants, and there may be some out there
who see him joining the Giants of Bayern Munich and
wondering if it was just kind of a very easy

(02:23:26):
acquisition there. I would caution against any kind of narrative
in that regard. Bayern Munich fired a distant third back
in twenty twenty three to twenty four season where bayer
Leverkusen ended up rough housing the entire league, and back
in the twenty twenty two to twenty three season they

(02:23:47):
finished tied in points with longtime internal rival Barusia dortmun
tied seventy one of points of Pete Munich got the
win due to goal difference. A couple all of that
with very shaky Chainampians league play in that time, the
German Giants had been not looking so great, but the
addition of Harry Kane led them to dominance once again,

(02:24:08):
finishing eleven points clear of bayer Leverkusen as of Saturday,
and to be honest, not really much of a contest
down this entire season. There's a reason we haven't talked
much Bundesliga. And while Harry Kane is entering his thirty
and over phase, which is always the twilight for soccer
players and Bayern Munich itself. It will be saying farewell

(02:24:31):
to Thomas Muller will no longer be with the club
next year after twenty five years of service. The marriage
between Harry Kane and Bayern Munich has worked out amicably.
It has worked out fantastically because all those stats I
read you still, even in the world of soccer, cannot
shake off any notion in sports, in any sport, as

(02:24:54):
people look at all that, all the stats, all the firepower,
all the talents in the world, and Harry Kane is
one of the best play I have seen play the game,
but there was always the nagging question of can you
win with him? Of course you could win with Harry Kane,
That's no question in doubt. Harry Kane was never the
problem for England or Tottenham Hotspur or anywhere, and being

(02:25:14):
with Bayern Munich proved and now he has a trophy
and all doubts may be laid to rest well. Sunday
is Mother's Day, Bernie, but it is also an extremely
big day. That's the German League taken care of Premier League.
We talked about Liverpool taking care of England a while back.
France has been figured out for a long time. Spoilers,
it's once again Paris Saint Germain's that leaves US Spain

(02:25:38):
and Italy three matches to keep an eye on as
we come down to the wire. In around the Mediterranean,
Knopoly had took a three point lead on Internazional a
while back, and now coming down to.

Speaker 27 (02:25:52):
The Skids three match days to go.

Speaker 29 (02:25:54):
In Syria, it is going to be a breakneck pace
to figure out who's going to win the Scudetto of Italy.
Inter still has to also play Paris Saint Germain in
the Champions League final, but they won't have to worry about.

Speaker 27 (02:26:08):
That until the end of May, and we'll do a
preview on that soon enough.

Speaker 29 (02:26:12):
But Internazion now plays at noon Eastern against Torino, while
Napoli takes on Genoa around two forty five pm Eastern time.

Speaker 27 (02:26:23):
But the day gets started even earlier than that.

Speaker 29 (02:26:26):
With the two favorite words we love to hear in
soccer bernie El Classico, Yes, Barcelona and Real Madrid at
ten to fifteen am Eastern time. See that on espn
A Already we just had an extremely heated El Classico
for the Copa del Rey and now we have both

(02:26:47):
these clubs coming in here, separated by just four points
on the La Liga table, four match.

Speaker 27 (02:26:54):
Days remaining, and if ever, if ever there.

Speaker 29 (02:26:57):
Was a must win game for Real Madrid to catch
up on their rivals in this race, it is this one.
You need to deny them three points and you need
three points themselves. You will still need some help and
you will still need to race ahead of Barcelona. But
if you can't beat them here, then the race might
be over before it even begins. With all that talent
Real Madrid's acquired, with all of the strength around them,

(02:27:20):
they have not been able to keep up with Barcelona
in any of their head to head matchups. They will
have a little bit of luck. Robert Lewandowski is starting
on the bench for Barcelona, but Laminium all is still
the problem. And there is a lot lots of love
about this Barcelona squad. But for Real Madrid, this is
do or die time. This is probably going to be

(02:27:40):
the most ficial classic of we're gonna have since probably
the last one.

Speaker 27 (02:27:44):
Enjoy at Bernie. We'll see you next time on the
World of Soccer.

Speaker 2 (02:27:50):
All right, So lots of facts and figures and times
and dates, and before long we'll have Olympic soccer and
World Cup soccer again. But the sports played around the world,
and there's always news and Chris is always on top
of it for us. Coming up, we wrap up the
Bernie Frattle Show. I want to address that Brown's quarterback room.

(02:28:11):
It's increasingly crowded, more expensive, and I want to share
with you perhaps the dumbest lawsuit I've ever heard, perhaps
the dumbest lawsuit of all time. You talk about frivolous.
Buckle up. Where do you hear this? Hi, Bernie Frattle
were coming to a line from the Las Vegas Fox
Sports Radio studio is here in Las Vegas, so keep

(02:28:32):
it locked right here. You're listening to the Bernie Frattle
Show on Fox Sports Radio. All right, we are wrapping
it up on the Bernie Frattle Show, come to you
live from the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio Studios. You've
been with you since eleven pm Pacific time on Saturday night.
I want to thank my producers Mark and Brianna all

(02:28:53):
your hard work and professionalism. Thanks so much, And let's
not forget today is Mother's Day special, thanks and recognition
all the mothers out there. You know what to do.
Treat your mother, right. I lost my mother on February eighth,
twenty twenty three. It never goes away. Unfortunately, I can

(02:29:14):
wish my wife, who's a phenomenal mother, a Mother's Day
as well, so you know what to do and do
your duty. So Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers
out there. Perhaps the most important job, no question, in
all of America. The NFL is going to start to

(02:29:38):
ramp up in terms of anticipation and countdown. And I
gave the NFL calendar earlier with you know, rookie camps
concluding this week and then you get to get into
OTA's and all kinds of stuff, and the schedule is
gonna come out Wednesday. That'll be big TV ratings. I mean,
we know who the opponents are, but you don't know
the dates. Okay, for instance, I know the Raiders play

(02:30:01):
the Bears this year, they play him here in Las Vegas,
but I don't know what the date is. And then
of course you got the conference game, so we'll make
a big deal all that. But one of the things,
more and more people are starting to pay attention due
by the way, did you see the film video footage
of Dion or checked at Shoodoor standards and his new
locker in Cleveland in the clubhouse, you know, kind of

(02:30:24):
sorting things out, putting his shoes, his clothes is, various
trinkets and personal effects, big smile on his face. It's
kind of awesome. It's kind of awesome. I think he's
really enthusiastic about being in the NFL, and I's got
to earn his keep. But at least he's there and
he's got a chance. But he's part of this quarterback
room that's crowded and weird and expensive. Now we all

(02:30:48):
know what happened when Dion Why do I keep doing that?
Shudoor Sanders had a precipitous fall based on not any
NFL person I talked to, but this belief, this group
think echo chamber of belief that he would be drafted
in the first round. I never said he would, and

(02:31:08):
I didn't think he would. I didn't know if he'd
fall to the fifth I didn't say that, But that's
basically what happened. Okay, And for those who hoped he'd
be a first round draft choice, probably costs him about
thirty million dollars thirty five million dollars. He's still going
to sign a four year rookie contract with an estimated
four point six million, and I believe he'd made six

(02:31:29):
million in nil in Colorado. I'm not sure. Okay, he's
also the son of Dion Sanders. But he's got to
compete now on Cleveland against at least four of the
players for playing time and a spot. If he has
designs on being part of the Browns' long term plans.
Who's his competition? This is a weird, crowded quarterback room.

(02:31:51):
You start with Joe Flacco. Joe's been around seventeen years,
He's won a Super Bowl. The Browns signed him to
a one year, four million dollar free agent contract earlier
this month. Flacco has proven in the last two years
he can still move the chains. He can still you know,

(02:32:12):
make highlights on third down and in the fourth quarter
and in the red zone. He can play. Clearly, he's
gonna be their starter now. The Browns also before the draft,
traded for Kenny Pickett. Now, people make fun of Kenny Pickett.
No one's going to confuse him with Joe Montana. But
Kenny Pickett as a starter is one more game than

(02:32:33):
justin Fields and everybody seems to love Justin Fields. Fields
is fourteen and thirty. Kenny Pickett is fifteen and ten.
Just the facts. Kenny Pickett's also completed sixty two percent
of his passes. I'd be shocked if they cut Kenny
Pickett because he's actually had twenty five starts as an
NFL quarterback. Now I get it. He was once seen
as the potential air apparent to Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh.

(02:32:56):
He was actually a former first round selection. That ship
is not only sale that shift sunk. They sent him
to Philadelphia. Pickett spent a year with the Eagles before
he was traded in March to the Browns. He has
a one year, two point six million dollar deal remaining
on his rookie contract. So God forbid Joe Flacco doesn't

(02:33:18):
make it through the whole season, which look maybe he will,
but he would defy the odds probably if he did. Okay,
hang nail something. So someone's gonna have to come off
the bench if it ain't Kenny Pickett. I heard on
a show that they believe Kenny Picket would be cut.
I'm having a hard time believing that the only one
with other one with the NFL experience. The Browns selected

(02:33:39):
Oregon quarterback lefty Dylan Gabriel the third round, two rounds
ahead of Sanders. He'll get an estimated six million on
his four year rookie deal. I liked Dylan Gabriel at Oklahoma.
I liked him at Oregon. I saw him pick apart
a pretty good Michigan defense in ann Arbor earlier this year.
Last year, I don't think she Dorf Sanders would have

(02:34:02):
done that. So I think this battle is going to
be a little bit more. I know people are picking
on him. He's not tall enough. All that right. Oh,
by the way, that's also you can't forget to Shawn Watson.
It's amazing he's still he's only twenty nine years old,
but he has a troubled history. It's continuing now. He's
got an achilles tendon tear he had last fall. That

(02:34:23):
he suffered a second achilles injury in January. He's going
to miss, if not all the twenty twenty five season,
the majority of the twenty twenty five season. And then finally,
the Browns owner Jimmy Haslam finally admitted once and for
all that treading for Watson was a big swing and miss,
and that the quarterback. Well, unfortunately he still has two

(02:34:45):
years remaining on that five year, two hundred and thirty
billion dollar deal is completely guaranteed. Now following the draft,
there was a backstory that came out the Browns general
manager Andrew Berry, and you saw their faces on draft.
They suggested their quote may have been a external pressure
to select Shador Sanders, saying quote, it wasn't necessarily the

(02:35:05):
plan going into the weekend to draft two quarterbacks. So
you've got this crowded quarterback who How are the hell
are the Browns going to sort this out?

Speaker 4 (02:35:16):
Now?

Speaker 2 (02:35:17):
Kevin Stefanski, who I think is a better head coach
and probably gets credit for and Andrew Berry, they say
there's going to be a wide open competition between the
four healthy quarterbacks that are in the season, which obviously
Deshaun Watson is not one of them. They went on
to say, quote Stefanski went on to say, quote, obviously
you may not divide the training camp reps, you know,

(02:35:40):
twenty five percent twenty five percent, duh. But we really
feel confident they will have a plan that's fair to
each player and fair to the team. In the meantime,
you got the father and son Duel Dion and Shador.
They were on camera last week caught and Dion made
a joke he see he looked at Joe Flacco. He said,
quote Flacco my age. I like Flacco. I don't know

(02:36:03):
that this bodes well for Shador Sanders. He's gonna really
have to flash. You gotta get to Sean Watson. You
check that. You gotta get Joe Flak already. And if
Kenny Pickott's not your backup with the whit, why'd you
trade for him before the draft? He's at least got
twenty five starts. I'm not confusing him with Joe Montana.
I get it, okay, but you play the hand you're
delt and that's the hand Cleveland's dealt. I don't know

(02:36:25):
what's gonna happen with Shador. I don't, I don't, I
don't know. I think they're under pressure.

Speaker 7 (02:36:30):
Uh to.

Speaker 2 (02:36:31):
They'll get him a fair shot if he can play,
They're they're gonna figure something out. But this is not normal, folks.
This is not normal to go into the season like this.
And I think this is this is a pick the
owner wanted to make, and he had his own reasons
and fine, it's good to be the king, right, mel
Brooks said, Look, this leads me to what is the dumbest,

(02:36:53):
most ridiculous, frivolous lawsuit I think I have ever seen.
There is a fan seeking one hundred million damage in
images because Shador Sanders fall in the twenty twenty five draft. Right,
his slide will be the biggest story of this draft
for the rest of time. Some people thought he'd be
drafted second or third. He dropped all the way to

(02:37:14):
the fifth round. Care we don't need to relive that.
His plaintiff referred to as John Doe in the filing
allegens in this one hundred million dollars lawsuit, a complaint
that quote the NFL's actions and dissemination of slanderous statements
have caused severe emotional distress and trauma for the filing
John Doe is a Georgia resident, but quote a dedicated

(02:37:36):
fan of Colorado football who actually attended the Colorado TCU
game back in twenty twenty three. That was an epic game.
The Buffs were twenty point underdogs. Sanders was thirty eight
to forty seven for five ten and four touchdowns, and
Travis Hunter welcome to America. They both played great games, okay.
Doe alleges that the reports of Sanders' performance in his

(02:37:57):
interviews quote contributed to anative that has unjustly harmed his
reputation and potential as a player. The filing alleges that
the Sherman Any Trust Act because teams colluded to influence
Sanders to follow to the fifth rone. Okay, buddy, you
need to lay down and get yourself a cool compress,
some more milk and soft music. Maybe it goes away.

(02:38:18):
Then he cites the Civil Rights Act because it may
have been influenced by racial discrimination. I believe cam Ward
is black and he was drafted number one overall. I'm
just saying, then consumer protection laws, right, the league misrepresented
the nature of the drafting process. He's seeking one hundred
million impunitive damages. It was filed in Atlanta at the

(02:38:39):
time of the publishing. Well, the NFL has not responded
to the lawsuit. Maybe Judge Wabner will this should be
in Goofy court rooting for shudor let's see what he
can do. I liked his enthusiasm the other day on camera.
It's gonna do it for the Bernie Frowders Show. See
it next Saturday. Keep it locked up next to the
great Andy Furman. Fox Sports Radio,
