Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

(00:28):
Pack show tonight. Let me begin right here somewhere jay
Z and Rihanna must be smiling because it's very much
an Empire state of mind in October, or you can
insert your Billy Jewel New York state of mind either.
Or you see the Yankees, Well, twenty four hours ago,

(00:49):
they suffer a devastating loss in ten innings, but they
picked themselves up, dusted themselves off, and it almost happened
again on Friday night. But they hang on for dear
life to beat the Guardians, the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field,
to take a three to one lead in the series.

(01:10):
It's presumed the Yankee should advance. The odds are in
their favor, but they've got a very overwrought bullpen pen
that keeps blowing, leads their defense leaves something to be desired,
and well, you know, anything can happen in baseball. And then,
of course there are the Mets. The Mets who woke
up today trailing to Dodgers three games to one. But

(01:34):
the Mets are always at their best when their backs
are against the wall. If you haven't been paying attention
since June twelfth, maybe you've listened to the show and
I brought you up to snuff. Do not be surprised
if Sean and I takes care of business Sunday Night
two one to zero and two point sixty ra in
the series. Dodgers have not solved him. Dodgers haven't announced
soo they're starting yet. Could be Yamamoto. We don't know

(01:58):
right now. You could presume or assume, and you know
what happens you assume, then it's gonna be the Yankees
and the Dodgers in the World Series. Not so fast,
my friend, as Lee Corsa would say, why do I
get this feeling that one of the New York teams
might not make it or one of the Dodger teams

(02:18):
might not make it. Not predicting. It just got that
weird deal, that little well, you know what I'm trying
to say about, I'm not doing a very good job
of saying it. And then there are other jets. Man,
Oh my goodness, goodness, gracious, I'm gonna call this one.

(02:39):
Never mind the horses blind, just keep loading the cart, folks.
Whatever Aaron wants, Aaron gets, they pick up Davante Adams.
And I think it's a terrible move. Could I be
proven wrong? Sure, prove me wrong. Don't tell me, show me.

(03:00):
Remember a few weeks ago when Antonio appears, the head
coach of the Raiders, got on the podium and said
he was going to make some business decisions. He didn't
like some of the ways the way some of his
players were conducting their business. I am very sure, strongly
believe one of those players was DeVante Adams. Because if

(03:21):
he's not getting the ball, he doesn't run a good route.
And it was painfully obvious. I know I was there.
You can I want a guy when you're at the game,
he just he that's what he does, but doesn't get
the ball, he sulks. This is the second time DeVante
Adams has forced his way out for personal selfish reasons,
and oh yeah, the Jets, Sure they need another receiver

(03:43):
like mcdonnod needs another husband. They can't block anybody, they
can't run the ball, they don't really execute anything consistently.
And they're a good team. They're a good team on paper.
But sure a piece Aaron Rodgers with another used car
from the trash heap, who leads the league in sulking
when he doesn't get the ball. And by the way,
how your day? Did you know? A year ago at
this time the Jets were three and three with Zach

(04:04):
Wilson a quarterback. Now they're two and four with Aaron
Rodgers a quarterback. I guess you could say that ownership
clearly wants to salvage this season as soon as possible,
and the number suggests the Jets are actually actually a
pretty good team. Despite their two and four record, three
of those losses, including Mondays against Buffalo, came by only

(04:25):
one possession. The defense, you could say they're elite. The
offense needs a big time fix. They need to reverse course. Theoretically,
Vegas still has has an excellent chance to make or
check that to Vegas has the odds that the Jets
have an excellent chance to still make the playoffs, but
this deal just feels excessive to me. Rogers is looking forty.

(04:48):
Later in the show and the Saturday Show, I'm going
to break down Aaron Rodgers statistics the reality. You know,
how he's done in the last three years against guys
like Gino Smith or Derek Carr, or Russell Wilson or
Joe Flacco. He doesn't compare favorably. Oh oh, I thought
you'd never ask his stats. This year, He's completing sixty
one percent of his passes that ranks twenty sixth in

(05:08):
the league. His his QBR is eighty four that ranks
twenty sixth in the league. His yards per pass six
point four that ranks the twenty fifth, his passing yards
per game two hundred and thirty one, sixteenth in the league.
His touchdown to interception ratio nine tds five picks ranked eighteenth.

(05:33):
They'll sound like Hall of Fame numbers to you. And
you know the Hussan Radick thing hasn't helped matter as
much either. So listen, they're all in. The Jets put
everything into one shot this season with Aaron Rodgers. They're
a disappointing team. They fired Robert Salah, which still sticks
to my call a little bit. You know, I don't

(05:55):
care what people think. I think there's a there's a
real belief. Can't prove it that Aaron Rodgers had more
than people are willing to admit, had more to do
with Robert Sala's departure than has really been reported. And
then he half ass denies it, Actually he denies it vehemently,
But do you really believe him? I don't really believe him.

(06:18):
And by the way, people think that they made the trade,
just made the trade because they lost. By the night,
he was already Davante Adams was already on a red
eye before the game kicked off, or maybe not before
the game kicked up, but certainly before the game was completed. Now,
it just seems like they're chasing. They sent a conditional
third round pick that can become a second round pick
to the Raiders, and the whole Adam situation really isn't
the best look for the Raiders, either, But who cares

(06:40):
the Raiders? This season has gone off a cliff the
way I see it, though, Let's break it down to
its simplest common denominator. DeVante Adams doesn't solve their issues,
he essentially replaces Mike Williams as the number two receiver.
I'm quite sure another guy, Aaron had something to do
with riding out on a rail allegedly. Can't prove it.

(07:03):
It's one of those things you know. I know it,
but I can't prove it. Just months after the Jets
had signed Mike Williams to a ten million dollars deal.
Is part of their veteran shopping spree. Not in a
perfect world turned back the clock six years. DeVante Adams
is an all pro who Rogers remembers from the Green
Bad Packerd days. Remember all the Super Bowls they went together,
and neither do I. But if you're into highlight reels,

(07:25):
they had some. But the reality is he's thirty two
year old. Thirty two years old, which is not young
in football numbers, especially if you are a wide receiver.
And if you look at his season averages up until
twenty twenty two, where he was accumulating about fifteen hundred
yards a season, that's dropped by four hundred yards a

(07:46):
year in the last three years. And he's joining a
new team in midseason. And even if Adams really does
get going in this Jets offense. It could be too little,
too late. Now. The other thing is the theory that
he really helps the offense, giving the Jets a needed
secondary option in the passing game. Although wasn't Alan Tazar

(08:07):
doing that? I thought Allan Zzar had been pretty productive.
Garrett Wilson still got to be the number one option.
That kid can be a star. If Aaron Rodgers would
misshim wide open on all goal routes, maybe it could
help the Jets a little bit. I don't know. DeVante
Adams didn't help the Raiders win. I'll tell you that
he was ten games under five hunderd in his tenure.

(08:29):
He's not the missing link. I don't know what the
real ceiling is for this team. Right now, they are
two games. The Jets are two games behind the Bills now,
and the Bills have a road win over the Jets.
Now for time breaker purposes, now, the Jets don't get
to play Buffalo again until December twenty ninth in Orchard Park.
I think it's safe to say if Buffalo doesn't win
the division, it's not going to be Miami. It's certainly

(08:51):
not going to be New England. But if the Jets
don't rally to overtake the Bills in the AFC East,
and they're going to be fighting for a wildcard spot. And
as long as Cincinnati can't get out of their own way,
which I don't think that continues. I think Cincinnati's going
to rip off a few wins Miami. You never know.
I'm hearing to what will be back October twenty seventh.

(09:12):
But I don't know if this was a prudent move
for the Jets. Actually, I take that back. I know
for a fact it was not a prudent move. I'm
just not a Devantae Adams fan. I've seen enough. Again
he can prove me wrong, but don't tell me, show me.
And you know, Woody Johnson appears to be the eternal optimist.
He goes at the owners meeting in Atlanta and he

(09:33):
says someone asked him if the season was still saligible.
His quote was saligible. We're going to kick blank. You
can fill the word in what kick what? All these
platitudes that these people come up with that never really
seem to manifest themselves as a practical matter. For this

(09:53):
to be really successful, you'd have to have a median
impact from DeVante Adams Sunday again, Pittsburgh. Okay, you've got
to reverse this downward trend. Sunday, the Jets are two
and four, I'd say right now. To guarantee you spot
in the playoffs, they got to go eight in three,

(10:14):
which means if they get beat Somenday, they gotta go
eight in two. That's a daunting task, especially if you
start out too and five. But I don't want to
look ahead and create proms don't even exist yet and
then try to solve them. But they have to get
on a hot streak now. I mean, the Jets fans
have been pretty patient, and they've signed a lot of talent,
at least theoretically on paper, it would be nice to

(10:36):
see the Jets in a playoff appearance. It's been fourteen
years since they made the postseason. But they've got to
be a different team culturally than they've showed the first
six weeks of this season. Even if DeVante Adams turns
into Jerry Rice reincarnated in his prime, he doesn't fix
the issues with penalties, he doesn't make the offensive line better,

(10:56):
And what the hell happened to Greg Zerline. You talk
about slumps, talk about needing a slumpbuster. So look, on
Saturday show, I'm going to give a dissertation of the
history of mid season trades in the NFL, and frankly,
how they really don't work that well, or they really

(11:16):
don't bear that much fruit, or they're really not, you know,
perhaps the true difference maker that Jet hopeful fans would
wish they would be. So we've got the Yankees, We've
got the Mets, we get the Jets in Pittsburgh. Oh,
how about the New York's New York Jets opponent. Well,

(11:37):
we've got a storyline there too. And I'm probably the
only one on the planet they knew this would happen eventually,
because God loved Justin Fields. He is a class act.
Now they're gonna let Russ cook. You can see this
coming a mile away. And it's not that Justin Fields
can't cook, but all he can do is microwave recipes.
Set the game against the Raiders. Drop back four yards,

(12:00):
stare down your hot read four yard pass, whoopee, drop back,
clean pocket. George Pickens is running free, tight ends, running
fair with the medal. How what the hell, I'll just
take off and run. Give Andrew Hawkins a VSP and
top credit for pointing out specific videos and what the
Pittsburgh Steelers offense is seeing and why they're twenty eighth good,

(12:20):
they're four and two good. Good for them. But if
anybody thinks this is sustainable in an NFL offense circlet
twenty twenty four, you're wrong. Even that touchdown run that
Justin Fields had when it was you know, first and
goal at the four, the tight end chipped was wide
open over the middle. Fields stared right at him and
we'll let the ball out of his end. Instead, he

(12:41):
took off. Somehow he beat a defensive end who had
lost contained and spread it to the end zone. Terrible. Yeah, great,
it worked. It's like a coach looking at a player
who can't shoot threes and he launches one. He says no, no, no,
and all of a sudden he goes in from twenty
eight feet. Oh yeah, good, No, it's not so stable.
Has nothing to do with Justin Fields as a human being.

(13:03):
Five words. I'm gonna tell you, give you five words
why Justin Fields won't start Sunday, and we'll see what happens.
Russell Wilson. I know it's become a national pastime to
just bash the guy, and I know he's wonky and
weird and people think he's phony and all that. He's
also been to two Super Bowls and one to one
could have won too, and I know he's not that

(13:24):
guy anymore. Relax, Relax. He did also throw twenty six
touchdowns and have eight interceptions last year. Then Darren McKee,
who I respect a lot from the fan in Denver
who's been on my show multiple times, says he just
didn't get along with Sean Payton. Wasn't his guy. But
when left to his own devices and let Russ Cook,
that offense moved. When they put the clamps on him,

(13:44):
it didn't. And yeah, he doesn't quite get the ball
out of his hand as quickly as he used to,
but he gets it out quicker than Justin Fields does.
Maybe not as accurate as he used to be, but
he's more accurate than Justin Fields. But Justin Fields can
run really which, of course, if you're hosting a punk pitch,
a punk passing kick competition, you want Justin Fields there.

(14:06):
He'll do really well, unless he's going up against thirteen
year old Andrew Reid on Monday on football Google It

the way, in about thirty seven minutes from where I
sit here in Las Vegas. Physically it will be the
twelve midnight Hour literally perhaps same with you or certainly figuratively,

(15:27):
there's been That hour has been a huge success thanks
to the great call. If you've got a couple of
doozies tonight, I'll set those up right after Kevin Figure's
update at the bottom of the hour. You're gonna want
to jump in thought provoking, mind stretching and certainly entertaining
midnight Hour topics. Five words. By the way, it's not

(15:49):
just me seeing it. It's the Pittsburgh coaching staff seeing it.
It's the Pittsburgh receiver seeing it. And even a host
on the ninety three seven the FEN in Pittsburgh name
than Marko Boli. These are the five words. Russell throws
a better ball period, he gets rid of it quicker,
he gets rid of it faster, He's more accurate. Everything

(16:11):
he can create downfield offense, They've seen it in practice.
You've seen it during his career. Pittsburgh's offense is a
bottom three offense. Cumulatively, they rank bottom five in every
statistical category. And we're applauding justin fields because he hasn't
turned over the ball that's a good thing. And he

(16:31):
hasn't lost a game for him. But if you really
look at tape honestly and objectively and remove your feelings,
because if you can't see that, Justin Fields is an
absolute class act and fan favored by now. He's going
to be on an NFL roster for as long as
he wants to be twelve fifteen years and maybe they
can insert some packages for him, which you know in

(16:53):
the NFL is somewhat of an anth ma. You don't
really want to have two quarterbacks. But he can make
plays in space with his Unfortunately, quarterback is a position
to play with your eyes. You receive the ball, you
make mental snapshots, and you execute, and you have to
do it quickly, have to get the ball out of
your hand. Justin Fields is essentially a college version of

(17:15):
a dual threat quarterback because his default mechanism is to run.
There were many times in the Raider game when he
took off and ran, and he shouldn't have to play
with forming. He'll never throw a receiver open. He's got
to see him open for three seconds and then deliberate
and then finally throw the ball and it's too late.
That's not how you do it in the NFL. Russell
Wilson is a better thrower than Justin He's a better

(17:37):
overall fit. He can produce more points. We're gonna find
out Sunday against by far the best defense that the
Jets will tech check that that Pittsburgh will face. In
the Jets, it's an elite defense. So what does that mean?
It means for folks who'ld be lying in wait to
say I told you so? What do you think he's

(17:58):
at ten and twenty eight as a star in Chicago,
they let him go for a song. Over the course
of their careers, at every metric, Russell Wilson has shown
he's a better thrower. He's throwing for three hundred and
thirty regular season touchdowns, He's won a Super Bowl, played
in a second, completed sixty five percent of his passes.

(18:19):
That's not to say Justin Fields hasn't been serviceable, but
you don't want serviceable. Tomlin knows they're adequate Toalmlan knows
it's acceptable, but they want to be great in Pittsburgh.
And the truth of the matter is Fields is incredibly
inconsistent when it comes to passing. It's passing his arm
talent and throwing the ball. He struggles with whether to

(18:42):
put velocity on the ball or touch on the ball,
varying the various speeds of his throws. That showed up
big time against the Raiders last week. And the Steelers
are inside the Raiders ten yard line, Arthur Smith, the
offensive coordinator for Pittsburgh, dial up a swing pass to
running back Jalen Warren. I told you the tight end
Connor Heywood, was out in front blocking, but rather than

(19:06):
delivering the pass with a little bit of touch to
Warren upfield, he simply zipped the pass to Warren. He
threw a fastball. Thankfully for the Steelers, Warren was able
to recover the fumble because I was thrown latterly. But
you point to throws like that that show I don't
want to hear Field has a long way to go.
What's going to be different? He said, this is his

(19:26):
fourth year in the league. He's had over forty five starts.
I mean, what are we doing here. I'm not saying
he doesn't deserve to be an NFL roster, but the
notion that the way Justin Fields plays quarterback is going
to get a team to the Super Bowl much less
win one. It's pure folly. It's just not gonna happen.
That's why I know it doesn't make sense to a

(19:47):
lot of people. Yeah, we're four and two. Let's just
keep going with what's working. It's not going to continue
to keep working, Okay, and Wilson by now should be
able to make those throws or check that field, should
be able to make those throws and he can't. Now
there could be some rust with Russell Wilson. We'll see
if he can make those throws more consistently, which is

(20:10):
the reason they're going to Russell Wilson. Now, there are
also questions beyond the quarterback position. They're going to cause
people to perhaps wrongly evaluate Russell Wilson's performance. The offensive
line has had injury issues the entire season. Their center
Zach Fraser, who's a rookie's out with an ankle injury. Plus,

(20:32):
let's be clear, the Steelers have had issues at wide receiver.
They missed out on getting Brandon Ayuk over the summer,
and it's my understanding they were interested in DeVante Adams,
but Davante didn't want to go to Pittsburgh. He wanted
to go to New York, just like he wanted to
come here to the La Las Vegas Raiders and play

(20:54):
with Derek Carr. So Pittsburgh wanted one or two of
those guys. So the question does remain how positive a
impact will Russell Wilson had when the Steelers offense. It
remains to be seen. But give him six starts. Fields
had six starts. But I am concerned. Let's put it
this way. I would be very certain that Steelers fans,

(21:19):
casual fans, you know, keen observers, people watching on TV,
people at the game Sunday night, will absolutely recognize that
Russell Wilson throws the ball noticeably better than Justin Fields.
So let's let this play out. I have immense respect
for Mike Tomlin, and I don't think he makes decisions

(21:42):
on a whim. And there's not a dot in my mind.
He's been in Arthur Smith's ear for weeks saying we
need more out of this offense. Okay, coming up, Well,
a very interesting play took place in the Ohio State
Oregon game last week, and it opens the door to

(22:03):
a much larger discussion. That's why this midnight Hour is
going to be so good tonight. But first go back
to our guy, Kevin Figures with the latest.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
All right, Bertie, Well, since you mentioned or again, they
avoided a letdown this week. They picked up two touchdown
passes from Dylan Gabriel and picked up a thirty five
nothing shout out victory over Purdue to improve their record
to seven and oh thirteenth rank by you got a
late touchdown pass and to come back and defeat Oklahoma
State thirty eight to thirty five, Dukes six and one
with a twenty three to twenty three to sixteen victory

(22:33):
I should say over Florida State.

Speaker 5 (22:35):
Seminoles are now one in six on the season.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
Friday Night on the Diamond, Yankees getting home runs from
Juan Soto and John Carlos Stanton in an eight to
six victory over the Guardians. In Game four of the ALCS,
Cleveland Star closer Emmanuel Class took the loss after allowing
two earned runs on three hits. Yanks a three to
one series lead. They can advance to the World Series
what they win in Game five on Saturday Night. Their
crossdown counterparts, the Mets, saved off a limit in Game

(23:01):
five of the NDS, they beat the Dodgers twelve to six,
a three run home run for Pete Alonzo. You had
RBI triples for Francisco Lindor and Jesse Winker. LA started
Jack Flaherty was lit up eight earned runs on eight
hits in just three innings of work. Did not record
a strikeout. As a matter of fact, no Dodger pitcher
recorded a strikeout in that game. LA at three to
two lead in the series. They will host Game six

(23:22):
on Sunday night. The WNBA Finals headed to a decisive
Game five after Minnesota defeated New York eighty two to
eighty back to Bernie Freddo.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
Kevin real quickly. I know that Sean and I will
start for the Mets on Sunday night. Have the Dodgers
name to start again.

Speaker 5 (23:39):
It will be a bullpen game.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
I do not know who will be the opener or
who will be the quote unquote starter, but we know
for a fact it will indeed be a bullpen game.
So it'll be a appreciate that, yeah, rematch of Game two,
Shan and I versus the bullpen.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
Jason Smith brought up a great point tonight earlier on
his show about the familiarity and when you march out
your bullpen every day like that. Well, let's just see
how it sounning that I just got this sneaking suspicion
where had to do a game seven based on the
Mets and their their season since June twelfth.

Speaker 4 (24:09):
If you followed it, I can see it happening absolutely,
since you're playing roulette with the more and more you
throw a leavers out there, the more and more familiar
the the batters get with them. So I certainly understand it.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
And the Mets seem to only play better with their
back against the wall.

Speaker 5 (24:21):
They really do.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
This is where they've lived since June twelfth. All right,
let's go back to Saturday's epic college matchup between number
two Oregon and number four Ohio State in Corvallis. You
saw that Oregon prevail thirty two to thirty one, but
that that didn't become the lead story.

Speaker 6 (24:43):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
With ten seconds to go, Ohio State had twelve men
on the field and they had enabled them to stop Oregon,
but precious seconds wound off the clock six of them.
Turns out it was on purpose. Dan Lanning came clean
a couple of days later. He even went on to say, quote,
we spend an inordinate amount of time on situations, and

(25:05):
some situations don't come up very often in cosge football,
but this was obviously something we'd worked on. Unquote. You
can see the result Oregon. That's set this up. Oregon
took the lead in the game with a buck forty
seven to go on a nineteen year old field goal,
given the Buckeyes time to drive down the field for

(25:27):
a potential game winning field goal. The series of plays
was really sort of a series of fits and starts,
and then Ohio State faced a third and twenty five
from Oregon's forty three yard line. That's when the Ducks
called time out with ten seconds left. Just before the

(25:48):
ball was snapped, Oregon defensive back Dante Manning walked onto
the field. That gave the Ducks an extra defender, that
twelfth man as it were. Ohio State then failed to
complete a pass against oregon'st twelve man defense on the
next play, and then the Ducks were flagged for an
illegal substitution penalty, but the damage had been done. You see,

(26:13):
Ohio State gained five yards in the penalty, but they
lost four seconds off the clock since the penalty was
deemed a live ball fill. So the bunk Irons were
left with six seconds on the clock. Quarterback Will Howard
needed to get to about the twenty six minimum they
believed to satisfy what would have been the range for

(26:34):
the Ohio State kicker. Okay, well that didn't happen. You
saw what happened. People picked on Will Howard for quote
unquote not enough situational awareness. The truth of the matter
is he had too much situational awareness. What do I
mean by that? He truly believed that he needed to

(26:56):
get a couple of yards closer than he actually got
to get his kicker a chance to make that field goal.
He believed if he came up short, it would be
too long of a try, and therefore it would really
coy bosh Ohio State's chances of pulling out the victory.
So as Will Howard scramble up the middle, he slid

(27:19):
a second too late for Ohio State to call in
time out for a potential game winning field goal, which
would have been about at the twenty six yard line.
But if you listen to him afterward, you know, I
think he was candid about saying I just believed we
needed to get closer. Now, see the college football world
thinks Oregon took a strategic twelve player penalty on purpose

(27:42):
to eight in their upset victory versus Ohio State, and
the truth of the matter is that's exactly what happened. Finally,
a couple days later, Landing did confirm the college football theory.
So Oregon moves to sixth in the year with the
win well Ohio State. They suffer their first loss of

(28:04):
the season to go to five and one. And this
can have ramifications now because Ohio State gets that second
loss at Penn State or loses to Michigan, which I
doubt or whatever, pick your poison. Even in this twelve
team playoff, you don't want to have a chance to
get that third loss. Now, the back end of the
story continues. Four days later, the NCAAA put their heads together,

(28:26):
make a rock pile, and had a meeting. In the
minds they revisited this highly controversial penalty loophole that Oregon
head coach Dan Landing loosely claimed to have exploited. And
it basically reads like this, if a defense plays with
twelve players in the final two minutes, the clock will
now be reset. So if you could have turned back

(28:47):
the clock and had that rule, Ohio State would have
had a full ten seconds instead of six. So this
becomes the first topic of our midnight hour Tonight, We
want to hear from you seven seven, nine, ninety six, six, three,
sixty nine and twenty three minutes. Oregon's a parent ingenuity
led to this in season rule change. The NCAA set

(29:09):
out a rules memo Wednesday outlining the new procedures for
all officials. So when a team commits a substitution final
inside the final two minutes of either half, the clock
is set back. So with ten seconds to go in
Oregon's thirty two to thirty one win last Saturday, Oregon
calls time out, adds a twelve player. The player goes
on the field, Aisle State faces a third long if

(29:31):
they're an incomplete pass right where the twelveth player was located.
Go back and watch the film. Oregon was penalized five yards,
but four seconds run off the clock. Will Howard scrambled
up the middle as he just said, time expired. I'm
the next play. Oregon won the game, So now there's
been a rule chance going forward, the clock will be

(29:53):
reset if there's a penalty of that nature in the
final two minutes of either half. This is the midnight
topic you're going to ruminate about. Cheating in sports, cheating
in sports. Oregon had twelve men on the field. The
resulting penalty caused precious seconds to wine off the clock.
It was intentional. It was a diabolical maneuver. Here's the

(30:15):
question for the callers. And remember the most boring conversations
are when we agree. So why I look for some
opinions or all over the map? Do you applaud organ
for their guile? How do you think the Oregon fans
feel about that? Or do you shame Oregon because this
is cheating? To that end? What do we not know?

(30:36):
What we not know anymore? Is cheating even more prevalent
across the board than we think? So do you applaud
Oregon for their guyle? Do you shame them because this
is cheating. It's cheating more prevalent than we think. I
will tell you this play will be talked about for
the rest of the season, especially if Oregon goes on
to make the playoff for getting the championship game, or

(30:56):
Ohio State does or doesn't. I will tell you so quickly.
Back in nineteen ninety one, when Colorado won its national championship.
My good buddy Mike Pratcher here in Las Vegas, is
on our show three fridays ago. They had a game
Week five against Missouri, and somehow the refs lost track

(31:17):
of the clock and Colorado somehow got a fifth down
and it's punched in a touchdown from the one yard line.
I think it was their ap enemy and they won
the game, and they didn't find out till Monday they
did first. I don't know how this happened, but it happened.
I guarantee you can google the story and find it.
And the college football world was incredulous. Well, I've told Mike,

(31:40):
I mean, I was saying, there's an old saying, you know,
be it the right place at the right time, but
you have to add a sense to that, be at
the right place at the right time, and quote do
something about it. See if Colorado had not gone on
to run the table and beat Notre Dame of the
National championship game, no one would have ever talked about
that fifth down play. That's why this will be talked

(32:00):
about the rest of the year. Oregon took advantage of
a loophole. It's presumed had they not done that Ohio
State might have gotten a chance to get a field goal,
whether or not they would have made it, but that's
not the point. Fifths and butts were canny and nunts
you'd all have you merry Christmas. The key is is
Oregon's maneuver something that you applaud because of their guyle

(32:20):
or do you shame them because this is cheating. And
therefore we're gonna watch what happens the rest of the season,
because if Oregon loses two or three games, it won't matter.
It'll be talked about, but it won't matter. But I
guarantee you if they get to the playoff and get
to the Final four, get to the championship game, it
will be talked about. Coming up, I'll set up topic
number two and I'll give you a hint. It might

(32:41):
rhyme with Aaron Rodgers. I'm Bernie Fraderer. Comedy line from
the Las Vegas Fox Sports Radio tirect dot com studios.
Keep it locked, you're listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show
on Fox Sports Radio or back at the Bernie Fraddle
Show Fox Sports Radio Company line from the tyret dot
Com studios here in Las Vegas. Coming up, in twelve
minutes eight seven seven, nine, nine six three six nine

(33:01):
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox Gifts called the
Midnight Hour. We want to hear from you top of
number one Oregon. Wow, you saw what they pulled. Do
you respect their guile? Do you applaud it or do
you shame them? Because it's cheating. And make no mistake,
there's been cheating in sports as old as time long

(33:23):
and short of it is. We're gonna dive into it.
Look forward to your calls. All right, Aaron Rodgers, Let's
talk about Aaron Rodgers. Let's go back to Monday night.
Jets are down twenty three to twenty the final minutes
of the fourth quarter. Jets offense takes the field for
their final shot at victory. This is exactly why you
got Aaron Rodgers. They almost turned the ball over on
the first play. Then there were a few incompletion completions

(33:46):
in a short yardage pickup that all of a sudden
that Jets find themselves desperate third and sixteen on their
own forty yard line. Aaron Rodgers was able to find
Mike Williams deep on the right side of the field,
but they were completely out of sink and Williams fell
trying to make the play he put on the brakes.
Was the ball under thrown? Did somebody run the wrong route?

(34:06):
We'll leave it to Aaron Rodgers. In the postgame press conference,
he did not hide his disappointment with the team. He said, quote,
I thought Todd Downing, he was the play caller, did
a good job. I know we did a couple of
different things. They called a good game. We just didn't
execute an you very well. We are you speaking French?
We or you gotta wrap it in your pocket? What

(34:26):
are we doing here? Aaron? We No, I just did it.
Rogers was asked about what happened on that final play,
and according to Aaron Rodgers, it seemed that, wait for it,
Mike Williams was the reason for the short offensive drive. Well,
I'm not actually saying he's wrong. Rogers explained it like
he always explained everything. Quote, there's two verticals. Allen's down

(34:50):
the scene, Mike's down the red line. So I'm throwing
a no look to the red line. When I picked
my eyes back, there's Mike running an all inbreaker. It's
got to be down there in red line. Okay, he
ran the wrong route cording to Aaron Rodgers, maybe he did.
That statement caused some controversy. Many felt that Aaron Rodgers
threw Williams under the bus, including Emmanuelacho who was very

(35:14):
vocal about that. And he wouldn't know he played in
the NFL. And then, of course Aaron does what Aaron does.
He goes on the Pat McAfee show the next day,
making his regular Tuesday appearance, and he addressed the rumblings.
He said, I think if you watch my press conference,
as I've started with myself, when I've made mistakes, that's
the standard for everybody. There were a lot of mistakes
throughout the night, but if you're looking at that, just

(35:35):
that play, that's what the question was, what happened on
that one play. Then Rogers recounmed what happened on the
final play the same way he did in the postgame
press conference. Then he says, so, I wasn't calling out
Mike for anything but his responsibility and the details on
that play. Oh, I see, how do na He's a
good citizen, doesn't take up two parking spot, shows up
to work on time, doesn't have bad breath, but he
screwed up the most important play of the game, and

(35:56):
you wanted to make sure the whole world knew it.
On that play he was in the right spot. And
you can make more of that if you want to,
but we should all have been held to a standard.
How about holding yourself to a standard, Aaron, you think
genosmiss a good quarterback. Let's go back. Since twenty twenty two,
Gino Smith has a winning percentage of five twenty six.
You're at four fifty eight. Gino's completing sixty eight percent

(36:18):
of his passes. You're completing sixty three percent. Gino's thrown
for two hundred and fifty four yards a game. You're
throwing for two hundred and eleven a game. Gino's thrown
for fifty six touchdown passes in three years. You've thrown
for thirty five. Geno's passer rating is ninety five years
is eighty nine. How about versus Derek Carr. Derek carr
Is winning percentage is four to fifty nine. Aeron's is

(36:38):
four to fifty eight. Carr completing sixty five percent Aaron
sixty three. Car Is thrown for more yards and has
a higher passer rating. How about Russell Wilson, the one
everybody loves the hate. He's completing sixty three percent of
his passes. So is Aaron Rodgers pass yards per game
eight more than Rogers, throwing for forty two touchdowns and
nineteen interceptions the last three years better numbers and Rogers

(36:59):
on both in a passer rating. How about Joe Flacco?
His winning percentage is five point fifty. He's doing for
two hundred and sixty yards his passer rating the same
as Rogers. All Right, I just compared to with Gino Smith,
Derek Carr, Russell Wilson, and Joe Flacco. One of those
guys making the Hall of Fame. Wilson's probably gonna get votes.
He might make it. Joe Flacco could. So maybe if

(37:24):
you want to hold everybody to a standard, you know,
Woody Johnson brought you in for a reason. Yeah, you
cleared the air about Williams. But it seems that Williams
time now is over with the Jets. It was reported,
I think Wednesday, Tuesday, that the Jets acquired DeVante Adams
from the Las Vegas Raiders. Why because Aaron wanted them,

(37:46):
and whatever Aaron wants, Aaron gets no two ways about it.
I'm quite sure he wasn't too unhappy when Robert Salah
was let go. H Now, how did Green Bay saw
around Mike Williams so quick when you just signed a
five million, one year, five million dollars one year contract
including a three point three million dollar signing bone. It's

(38:08):
almost nine million guaranteed just six months ago. Now he's
a trading piece now that DeVante Adams is joining the
team because Aaron Rodgers gets what Aaron Rodgers wants. So
let's keep it real here for just a second. Aaron
Rodgers and the Jets have now made their latest desperate move.
Is Rogers actually the problem in New York? I want

(38:30):
to know from you, is he actually the problem? I
just gave you a bunch of numbers, compared them to
what he did, you know versus Zach Wilson last year.
None of it's favorable. And do you think this DeVante
Adams tradeo work? That's part B, or you can answer
that first part A. You heard what I said about
Oregon and the twelve man on the field stunt they
polled last week. Do you applaud Oregon for their guyal
or do you shame them because it was cheating? And

(38:52):
by the way, Is there more cheating going on in
sports than we realized? Dial them up eight seven to
seven ninety nine on Fox seven seven nine nine six
six three six nine. Cheating in sports Oregon's twelve Men
and Aaron Rodgers keep it locked. You listen to the
Bernie Fradle Show on Fox Sports Radio the midnight hour.

Speaker 1 (39:13):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
That's right, you heard the man. The Bernie Fraddle Show
keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie Frownle. We
are come to you live the tyrack dot com studios
here in Las Vegas, Fox Sportsradio tyrack dot Com. We'll
help you get there. Unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free
road answer protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tyreck
dot com the way tired buying should be. It's here

(39:38):
the midnight hour eight seven seven nine nine six six
three sixty nine. Yes, it's time. It's the midnight hour,
all right, couple good topics tonight. Cheating in sports. You
know about the Oregon twelve men on the field, the
diabolical move. Do you shame them because it was cheating?
Do you respect them for their Guile's? Cheating more prevalent
in sports than we even realize. And Aaron Rodgers, the

(39:59):
latest it's desperate move is Rogers actually the problem in
New York and will this trade work? Jim in Massachusetts
start us off? How are you tonight, buddy?

Speaker 6 (40:08):
Pretty good?

Speaker 7 (40:08):
Hell's going? Bernie?

Speaker 8 (40:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (40:09):
I think it's cheating. It's definitely cheating what they do.
I mean, what is he trying to teach young kids
out there?

Speaker 2 (40:15):
Nineteen years old?

Speaker 9 (40:17):
And that is that how we is that how we're
going to approach life?

Speaker 10 (40:21):
And I don't like that.

Speaker 9 (40:22):
That Oregon coach anyway, because remember last year he did
that punt from his own eight guideline against Colorado and
he's going crazy on a sideline like I got you saying,
I got you said, you know, not about his ego
and him. It's about the kids and what you want to,
you know, leave as a legacy to what they become
in life. And I just don't like the guy. And

(40:45):
I think it was cheating. And you know, all goes
to character, Bernie, all goes to your character at the
end of the day, and he doesn't have any Okay.

Speaker 2 (40:54):
Speaking of characters, Aaron Rodgers, what are your thoughts on him?
Is he the problem in the Ark.

Speaker 8 (40:58):
Of course he is.

Speaker 9 (40:59):
You know, I keep his mouth shut. Like I said,
you know, Brady never said nothing in New England. I'm
in New England. I'm not a New England fan.

Speaker 7 (41:07):
I'm a giant sent.

Speaker 9 (41:08):
But Brady always carried himself, you know, whether good or bad,
tried to be you know, justified. It was all about
the team and this and that. And you know, Aaron Rodgers,
what he's never learned in life is what happened under
the missiletoe stays under the missiletoe. And you know, he
just he just can't do it, you know. And and hey,
they got what they got. They thought that they were

(41:30):
gonna he was going to be the savior, and now
they find him.

Speaker 6 (41:33):
You know that he isn't.

Speaker 9 (41:36):
And like you said, he's a forty year old guy
and he's showing it. You know.

Speaker 2 (41:40):
Yeah, very good call. As always, Jim. His numbers this
season certainly showed. His numbers going back to twenty twenty
two certainly show it. And the Jets still have their
goals in front of them, but they've dug themselves a whole,
and I think Aaron Rodgers is front and center. Emmett
in Olympia, Welcome back, in Emmitt, how are.

Speaker 11 (41:59):
You, Ernie Frada, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (42:02):
How you doing well? Another rocket midnight hour? What are
your thoughts on?

Speaker 11 (42:05):
These two said, Oh yeah, I mean yeah, you gave
us a loaded topic. I thought the real quicker. Welcome
back to my kfig on the updates Kevin figures. But anyways,
about this organ thing, I mean, Bernie, they say this
from life, there's rootfool for everything, and the Dan Lanning
just so happened to find that loophoole because during this game, Bernie,
when I was watching or listening, you know how everyone

(42:27):
to flip that, you know, I was, I heard the flag.
I'm like, all right, that's kind of stupid, and I
untel like I went on social media. That's why I
finally noticed that this was a thing that he was
trying to hit this loophool. So I don't think it's cheating.
I think he hit a root pool. But to answer
like the question, I shouldn't NCAA looking at changing that rule.

Speaker 7 (42:46):
Do I agree with it?

Speaker 12 (42:47):
Of course because that was as.

Speaker 11 (42:49):
Me as an organ guy, that was definitely unfair to
Ohio State. But at the same time, you can't fault
the guy. It's the rules.

Speaker 6 (42:56):
Right.

Speaker 11 (42:57):
I think cheating is definitely more of a thing in
sports than we think. I mean, especially with this gambling stuff. Now,
I mean, that's a whole nother angle of it, but
there's just a bunch of just random stuff we probably
don't even notice. Bernie that's going on to answer the
question about Davonte Adams, you know, so you can get
through these other callers quickly. Aaron Rodgers, he's that fault
first of all.

Speaker 13 (43:16):
I mean you and.

Speaker 11 (43:18):
Jim said it pretty well. The guy's just the yapper.
I mean, he doesn't keep his mouth shut, and as
a quarterback, you need to keep your mouth shut. You're
that leader, You're that guy all the young guys look
up to. So I think it's a bad look for
Aaron Rodgers not saying that maybe Robert Falla could have
had something to do with it, or you know, the GM.
I'm not saying they're innocent, but Aaron Rodgers holds a
lot of this. And if the Davont racherd will work,

(43:40):
I don't think so. I think the Jets they're in
for a long ride. I don't think this Aaron Rodgerson
is going to work the way they want it.

Speaker 14 (43:46):
But builds are hot.

Speaker 11 (43:47):
Team, that a he's a hot division, builds our hot division,
yet that it's not looking good.

Speaker 2 (43:53):
Thanks a lot, Havan.

Speaker 11 (43:54):
I think first round exit from the Jets if they
make the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (43:57):
All right, thanks JAMMT. So if I read Emmett correctly,
Dan Lanning was was really more exploiting a loophole, not cheating,
per se and by strict definition. And I'm guessing that
he sees Aaron Roberts Rodgers is more the problem than
a solution. Man, Well and Guardina always look forward to you,
my man. What we got tonight?

Speaker 15 (44:18):
Bertie Hey burn maybe Burns? Hey, real quick? I got
would be remissed if I didn't give a shout out
to my match, Kevin Fegas, Vin DJ and Kevin Figas.

Speaker 12 (44:32):
What up, Breezy?

Speaker 2 (44:33):
What up?

Speaker 15 (44:33):
Everybody in the house? Hey, so real quick. I'm with
Emmitt on this one.

Speaker 16 (44:38):
Man.

Speaker 15 (44:38):
You know, he may be blind, but he sees the
light on this one. It was a loophole. Man, Hey,
you gotta give him credit for exposing the loophole. I
think it's pretty chicken squad of the NC two way
to change the rule, you know, I do like, hey,
wait until the end of the year if you know, hey,

(45:00):
people need to really pay attention to detail when they're
in those positions and Landing got over. Man, That's how
I look at it. Do you know how I feel
about that Ay Alaska drinking food box in New York? Hey, man,
he's turned into a clown right in front of us,
and he's bringing the big top to the big Apple. Bernie.

(45:23):
I mean, wasn't he the reason that devontayt Adams had
to leave Green Bay because he's greedy ass.

Speaker 8 (45:30):
Never wanted to.

Speaker 15 (45:31):
Do with Tom Brady and spread the wealth. He always
had to be the most expensive quarterback. So he's reaping
what he sows. He'll never win again. And it's a
shame because he was a very likable guy in an
early career, but now he is just an ass clown, Bernie.

(45:51):
Keep up the good work.

Speaker 7 (45:52):
Love you, ma, man, all.

Speaker 2 (45:54):
Right, thanks right back at you, man. Well, I appreciate
the candor. It's difficult to disagree with your basic prime
missing that in Aaron has become a trolling toolbox. It
won't shut up, and he's not producing anywhere near the results.
You can blame it on age, blaming whatever you want,
but facts is facts, and he carries it a step
further in terms of the off the field antics and

(46:17):
some of the notorious comments. And obviously it's clear now
than him and Robert Salah were a terrible match. James
and Los Angeles. Welcome back in James, Horry, Bud.

Speaker 8 (46:27):
What's up, my man?

Speaker 15 (46:28):
It's selling that light.

Speaker 8 (46:29):
Brother.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
There you go. We see man. Well, he said he'd
open you with open arms.

Speaker 8 (46:35):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. When I get to guard deal
a little, definitely hit him up some type of away'll
probably through your showf Hey man, I'm gonna say I'm
from that old Jim Rome school that if you're not cheating,
you're not trying, and it's only cheating if you get caught.
I feel like they took advantage, like you said. He
took advantage of the loophole, like man Weel said, and

(46:58):
so until he changed the rule. You know, I don't
call it cheating. I call it you're using what you
got in front of you to win the point of
the game is to win. I mean not at all
Sometimes they say not at all costs. But you know,
what are you teaching the kids right now? Already they're
getting millions of dollars and everything. You're teaching them that
you got to win.

Speaker 7 (47:19):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (47:20):
See, you're keeping it real there, man, James, excuse me,
whether we like it or not. Jimmy Valvani used to
say that because I've never seen a headline that says
Joe Blatz was given a five year extension because all
his players past their classes. I got these dates on
the calendar. When I'm at the office and I don't win,
they find somebody else. So that's actually just a sad reality.

(47:40):
And Generallier made up a great point, what are you
teaching the players but no coaches get their contract extension
for teaching the players good morals? As sad as that
may sound, continue on, James.

Speaker 8 (47:50):
Yeah, exactly right. Now, you know, with the nil and
everybody getting millions of dollars, which hey, I'm in favor
of getting all you can, but now you know, you
change the the parameter of what do you call morals
and teaching them what's right and what's not. I think
the Clinton coach is still trying to hold on to that,
but I'll wait for him to give in, you know,

(48:14):
when his job is coming up. Man, I want to
see how long he holds that that mattra you know
what I'm saying. So we will see. As far as
Aaron Rodgers goes, I went man, well all the way,
he's an ass clown and you know, running his mouth
and he's living off for the one super Bowl that
he got, which you know I credited for him, but

(48:36):
he hasn't done anything since then, and he's just overpaid, overpaid,
over over overhyped, overdone. Just you know, go ahead. That's
why I said, what's the Jets. You know, he's showed
me more than what I thought he had with the Jets,
so I'm gonna give him some credit there. But you know,
he's trying to pull in everybody. If they don't make

(48:57):
the playoffs, it's a failure. And I hope he gets
his justice, just rewards whatever that's gonna be.

Speaker 2 (49:03):
All right, Thanks so much. Appreciate you checking in. James,
Poppy Trucker, Don Bryce Gilbert, Jim hank Tag, You're all
getting in. No one gets shut out. Aaron Rodgers, well,
you know what to do. Is he part of the
problem or part of the solution? And Oregon interesting interesting
perspectives so far, see it more than a loophole is cheating.
We're gonna continue on with all that coming up by

(49:25):
Bernie Frattle. We're coming to line from Las Figas, Fox
Sports Radio, Tireck dot com studios. Keep it locked listening
to the Bernie Frattle Show Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (49:44):
All right, back on the Bernie Frautles Show. The midnight hours,
Raging Cars has been great so far, we got more
on hold. We want to get to all of them.
Let's go back out to the phone lines. Poppy, thanks
for hanging on, Bud. You're up next than Bernie.

Speaker 13 (49:57):
Uh.

Speaker 17 (49:57):
You know, I wanted to talk about the Organ, you
know what on that game, Bernie.

Speaker 8 (50:01):
I know you like talking about Oregon.

Speaker 18 (50:03):
I had money on that game, moneyline on Organ, so
of course I was going for Oregon, and you know
I thought it was like a cheat.

Speaker 15 (50:11):
Code, and the cheat code they got away with it.

Speaker 17 (50:13):
That's fine, But also on that Ohio station on the clock,
so bad job on the on the.

Speaker 18 (50:20):
Quarterback and the whole team. You know now they're all
complain that nobody.

Speaker 16 (50:23):
Cares Oregon One.

Speaker 15 (50:25):
They deserved it, cheat code or not.

Speaker 18 (50:27):
I made that money, Blake Blink.

Speaker 10 (50:28):
So I was really happy enough.

Speaker 2 (50:30):
All right, so you you applaud the guy. What are
your thoughts on Aaron Rodgers part of the problem, part
of the solution?

Speaker 15 (50:36):
Well, and Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 18 (50:37):
You know how I told you Hulusuwaska he want to
Egypt and.

Speaker 6 (50:40):
I think he's great. He should be a future GM.

Speaker 17 (50:43):
All these movies he's doing. And like I didn't, I
did give a pick on the Ben Maller show off
for the pick on that, if you guys want to
hear in the fourth time in the podcast with the
Ben Mala and the Jets going to be playing against
the Steelers. They hate the Pig, but look, I think what's.

Speaker 18 (50:56):
Going to happen is going to be chemistry in the
air with you know, the Monte. They're going to be
good for fantasy football and I'm really looking forward for
that game.

Speaker 6 (51:03):
Man. Yeah, I should be a future GM.

Speaker 8 (51:06):
So that's my saying.

Speaker 2 (51:07):
All right, that's a first, that's a first. I think
you got a better chance of Led Zeppelin re recording
the Gilligans Island theme song and selling a million copies
by Tuesday than Aaron Rodgers actually being a GM. But
what do I know? All Right, truck or Donald Louisiana,
You're up next. Thanks for your patience.

Speaker 10 (51:25):
Oh, good morning, Bernie, Good morning, welcome.

Speaker 16 (51:28):
My first thought were you intro about mister Field.

Speaker 8 (51:31):
I think that.

Speaker 16 (51:32):
Decision is coming down from corporate, not just some coach
Tomlin on the organ beyond the organ situation.

Speaker 6 (51:40):
I just believe it, as the.

Speaker 16 (51:42):
Young man's already said, they just took advantage of the
rules of sorry in play. And Aaron Rodgers, to me,
he's just I'm going to use the term rich union
ballplayer who's looking forward to doing the same thing as others.
Ride this contract as long.

Speaker 7 (52:02):
As it can, you can retire.

Speaker 16 (52:05):
But this is pretty mighty.

Speaker 19 (52:09):
Well.

Speaker 2 (52:09):
I think he wants to win. I just think he's
misguided with a lot of his antics. I gotta be
honest to don and he's made over three hundred million.
I would just say this. I've been told by people
that are closer to the situation than me, and I
was surprised to hear it that this surprived of Aaron
Rodgers last year. So we'll have to see. But anything else, don.

Speaker 16 (52:34):
No I agree with you, but I don't think he
will even be happy to stay it old the whole year.
I just don't see it.

Speaker 2 (52:41):
But anyway, all right, don So another voter non confidence
for Aaron Rodgers. But can you blame him? Bryce in Texas,
welcome back in How are.

Speaker 14 (52:50):
You doing well? You mentioned three hundred million dollars for
Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 2 (52:56):
I just threw that number off the top of my head.
I believe he's made at least that.

Speaker 14 (53:00):
Yeah, well, there's another guy that's taking three hundred million.
His name's Deshaun Watson. And as a Brown saying, I'll
take Aaron Rodgers thumbs for fire over to Shaun Watson,
so you can.

Speaker 2 (53:10):
Well, I would take you know, I would take Uncle
Rico from Napoleon Dynamite over Deshaun Watson. But that's not
what we're talking about here, big fellow. What do you
think about the organ cheating scandal.

Speaker 14 (53:21):
I'm confused by this because five years ago we were
praising Mike Variable for using that very tactic to beat
the paper.

Speaker 2 (53:28):
Excellent point.

Speaker 14 (53:30):
And it's funny because Bill Belichick use the same thing
earlier in the year against the Jets, and we praise
these guys of like, Oh my gosh, they're so smart,
but then it happens in college football and now it's cheating.
I don't I don't understand it. I think it's a
great move if it's in the rules to use use it.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
All right. I respect your opinion. Uh, and I kind
of cut you off on Aaron Rodgers. Do you think
he's more of the problem with the solution.

Speaker 14 (53:53):
He's the problem?

Speaker 2 (53:55):
Okay. I appreciate your thoughts. Bryce quick to the point. Uh,
excellent on both, on both And he's right about Mike Raebel.
I was waiting to see if someone would bring that
up tonight. And the truth of the matter is most
people are seeing this objectively, not just subjectively. That's of
course you're poppy had a bet on the game, but
they're looking at it as Hey, the rules further anybody

(54:15):
to exploit, and he took advantage of a loophole. It
speaks to a larger issue, though, and it just it
had it didn't smell right. But I'm not judging in
her second guessing it. I mean, this isn't exactly the
Baseball steroid era or the flate gate, you know, or
the Houston Astros scandal or what Michigan did with with
Connor Stallions, and it goes on and on and on

(54:37):
Saturday Night. I'm going to give a history of cheating
in sports and you might be very well amused at
some of the scanners you may never heard of. And oh,
by the way, you know, we're going to talk about
why do the great ones cheat? And we'll take you
behind the curtain. I'm Matt. Let's go back to Massachusetts.
Welcome in.

Speaker 20 (54:55):
You're up, Matt, first time listening.

Speaker 7 (54:57):
I'm enjoying the show.

Speaker 2 (54:59):
Thank you for taking you for jumping in.

Speaker 13 (55:01):
No problem, mom, I was just the guy from.

Speaker 20 (55:03):
That shoots talking about morals when it comes down to
the game.

Speaker 6 (55:07):
As a Patriots fan, I remember a couple of years
ago in.

Speaker 10 (55:09):
The playoffs, Mike Brable did the same thing to us.

Speaker 9 (55:11):
He took advantage of the situation.

Speaker 20 (55:14):
I can't remember exactly what it was, but that's what
the Oregon did.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
To your point, hang right there, my friend, don't go anywhere.
That was Jim from Massachusetts. He acknowledged he's not a
Patriots fan. But to your point, your point is duly noted.
It no one really made much of a stink about it.
Then go ahead.

Speaker 7 (55:32):
Well no, I was just saying that that.

Speaker 20 (55:34):
I mean, that's what the O High State left for him,
And like Oregon took advantage of the.

Speaker 15 (55:38):
Situation, so I can hold it against the guy.

Speaker 21 (55:41):
That's it was there for them to take.

Speaker 6 (55:43):
Hey, don't forget, I'll High State had.

Speaker 21 (55:45):
A chase at the end.

Speaker 10 (55:45):
The kid just didn't fly earlier enough.

Speaker 2 (55:48):
See that's what I said. They called about situation awareness.
He actually had too much of it. He wanted he
slid earlier, but he was afraid he was out of
field goal range. Let's talk about Aaron Rodgers quickly. Bring
us home on that.

Speaker 8 (56:00):
I just think that this is what happened.

Speaker 20 (56:01):
When you make the quarterback the most important person in
the whole retire, you know, whatever, office, everything, he's number one.
So when you make one player one thing, this is
what happens. In my opinion, it was washed.

Speaker 2 (56:14):
You know, all right, thanks so much, appreciate it. Don't
be a stranger man. We do this every week. Back
out to the phones, Gilbert and san Diego. Thanks for
hanging on, buddy, you there, Gilbert, Hey, boy bean.

Speaker 12 (56:28):
How are you?

Speaker 2 (56:29):
Man? Oh?

Speaker 13 (56:30):
Movie and Mob and Bernie as always, you're having a
great show and great police to discuss.

Speaker 6 (56:36):
Okay, listen, what are.

Speaker 2 (56:37):
Your thoughts on both subjects?

Speaker 13 (56:38):
Okay, on the Ohio Oregon thing, I'm a Patriot fan,
so I remember where Able did the belishek going illegal
motion for ten times before the five minute clock so
they couldn't stop the clock. If it wasn't Ohio State
who lost the game? Was he was Southeastern Kentucky? Nobody
was kid?

Speaker 2 (57:01):
How they doing this year? By the way, Southeastern Kentucky.
I love it. I love it, Gilbert. That's beautiful. That's
some beautiful stuff.

Speaker 13 (57:10):
And you know, the rules are there and if you
figure them out and you can take advantage of them, great.
Now the NC double A just moved because he was
Ohio State, and that's sad. That's really sad. But anyway,
and regarding you know the guy that I trust him
as fall as I can throw him. He's been throwing

(57:32):
people under the bass for the last six years. It
doesn't surprise me what he did on Monday night, which
is so true. He threw his coach under the bus
after they lost the playoff game against the Tampa Bay
after ready through three picks and he couldn't master but
three points I mean the guy is done.

Speaker 2 (57:52):
Yeah, I gotta say this Sunday game great stuff. As always,
Gilbert two excellent points on both its and the truth
of the matter is this Sunday's game is such a
referendum because Rogers has had three chances already this year
now on a game winning drive to pull it out
and have been able to do it. And you know why,
and you know why. Jim in West Virginia joined us said, Jim,

(58:15):
what are your thoughts on both these subjects?

Speaker 12 (58:17):
Hey, Bernie, how are you? Oh well, I kind of
feel like the coach. I got a little different take
on the Oregon situation. I mean, I think those guys
are under so much pressure as they should be, and
they're obligated to win. I mean, however it be, they're
obligated to win for their kids, their fans, what have you.

(58:38):
But my problem is is that he let it out.
He didn't go along with it. I mean, like his ego,
he had to let them know that.

Speaker 2 (58:46):
Hey yeah, he wanted them to know.

Speaker 12 (58:48):
Yes, look ye look yeah, look at me. You know
had he's just that haul man. We had a twelfth
guy out there. We missed it. Sorry about that. Now,
he ruined it for himself to ever use again or anybody.

Speaker 7 (59:00):
Else, you know.

Speaker 12 (59:02):
And plus the problem was already out there. The NCAA
had to know. You know, we've got a loophole here.
Everybody saw the Rabel stuff, like some of your callers
just said, I mean, they knew it was out there
to do. He just admitted that the cat that ate
the canary has left feathers all over his face. You
know that's real quickly, Jim Aaron Rodgers. I don't know

(59:27):
who the more brand new fool is, whether Johnson or
Jerry Jones. They both qualify for that bit, I can
tell you. But I don't know that Rogers is the problem.
I mean, they just these owners just keep throwing money
at them. We're going to do what you say, do
what you say. I think Rogers is definitely a problem.
I think his ego and those two MVP or three

(59:50):
MVPs got definitely makes him feel like he can do
whatever he wants, you know. And I like the Jets,
you know, I don't have anything against it. I like
all the New York themes. But yeah, I think the
problems there are the owners just keep on throwing money
to these egotistic fells.

Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
Well, Jerry gave Dak sixty million and Clamb thirty million.
How's that working on, Jim? Thanks for checking in tonight.
That's what do you do to that's you have, whether
you like it or not, you gotta pay these guys
and most of the time, most of the time, it
doesn't work out. Andrew and Bakersfield. You want to focus
on Aaron Rodfers, So what are your thoughts?

Speaker 22 (01:00:26):
Hey, Bertie, my phone's gonna die and so I'm gonna
skip the first one because I'm still thinking about the
Oregon's play. So for Aaron Rodgers last week, I said
he was Mia and I heard his press conference on
Monday night, and you know when he called out the

(01:00:48):
rest and then he made a joke and he said
it about himself and he had actually gotten hurt from
unnecessary roughness something and he had some sarcasm. I said, hey.

Speaker 11 (01:01:06):
There's Aaron.

Speaker 22 (01:01:08):
You know, maybe he shouldn't have called out his his
wide receiver. But I just want to say, you know,
I see you, and good job. And I think Davante
made a good decision.

Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
Well, I guess we'll find out. I don't think they're
going anywhere fast, but I appreciate your call and I
take that as his thumbs down for Er because he's
not doing his talking on the field. Eight seven, seven, nine,
nine to six six three six nine minute hours raging.
We want to hear from you, dougle By next, but
first we go to our guy, Kevin Figures with the.

Speaker 5 (01:01:42):
Latest and Bernie.

Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
Another game in the ALCS went down to the wire
on Friday night, but this time it was the Yankees
coming away with the victory. Eight to six was the final.
They take a three games to one lead over Cleveland.
John Carlos Then and Jon Solo each with home runs
as New York won the battle of the bullpens down
the stretch. Yankees can winched their first World Series births
in two thousand and nine with a victory on Saturday

(01:02:04):
in Cleveland.

Speaker 5 (01:02:05):
The Mets remained alive in the NLCS.

Speaker 4 (01:02:07):
They are all over the Dodgers twelve to six as
they roughed up LA native Jack Flaherty eight runs and
eight hits in just three innings of work. LA at
three games to two lead in the series with Game
six set for Sunday night. In college football, on Friday thirteenth,
th Ring BYU won a back.

Speaker 5 (01:02:23):
And forth affair with Oklahoma State. The final score was.

Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
Thirty eight to at thirty five, as the Tigers remained
unbeaten at seven and oh earlier, the second ranked Oregon
improved to seven and oher with a thirty five nothing
victory over Purdue duke Is six to one after a
twenty three to sixteen victory over Florida State, who fell
to one and six on the season.

Speaker 5 (01:02:41):
Minnesota win Game five.

Speaker 4 (01:02:42):
Of the WNBA Finals over New York eighty two to eighty,
forcing a game five on Sunday. They won Game four
to force a game five. I should say on Sunday,
all right, Burnie, back to.

Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
You, all right, thanks Kevin. Back to the phone lines,
by the way, eight seven seven nine ninety six sixty
three six nine seven seven, nine to nine on Fox?
Do you applaud ol Oregon? Did a lot of folks
have really tipped their captain Dan Landing knowing it was
more dancing the line than blatant cheating. And Aaron Rodgers,
well you kind of know where they've gone with that.
I haven't anybody heard anybody really stick off for him yet.

(01:03:12):
Doug in San Diego, you're up next, Welcome into the
Bernie Frottle Show. It's midnight.

Speaker 21 (01:03:16):
Hey Bernie, what's happening?

Speaker 22 (01:03:18):
Man?

Speaker 23 (01:03:18):
God love you, thank you.

Speaker 21 (01:03:22):
But as far as I'm piccern this guy, Dan Landing,
it's the coach of the year. It's beautiful. Absolutely waited
til the right moment to find his little opportunity and
he took advantage of it. It reminds me of like
if a manager in baseball figures out, oh, he's not

(01:03:43):
hitting in the right batting order and the other team
doesn't even know it. They let's the guy hit a
double or whatever. Then he goes out, there's hey, they
screwed up the batting order and they have to take
it off the board. It's beautiful and there's not there's
no cheating about it. Absolutely far from cheating as there
could be. Uh, the guy's brilliant should be at Einstein.

Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
I respect your opinion. Aaron Rodgers, who.

Speaker 21 (01:04:08):
Thinks Aaron Rodgers is an idiot? I can't believe this
is going on.

Speaker 6 (01:04:12):
Man.

Speaker 21 (01:04:13):
Uh, I guess uh, you know, for him to throw
Mike Williams under the bus like that to me was shocking.

Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
Well, you know what I call that Tuesday? I mean,
it's Aaron Rodgers must be Tuesdays throwing somebody under the bus.
Go ahead done, and.

Speaker 21 (01:04:26):
Uh, you know, I guess, uh, he's got everything he's
ever wanted.

Speaker 10 (01:04:30):
Now.

Speaker 21 (01:04:31):
I guess he even has a penthouse suite, you know,
and maybe a limo every day everything else too. Uh,
And I want to wait for Sunday night. Uh, it
could be I don't know if they're going to start,
uh Wilson or whatever, but they're gonna start Russell Wilson.

Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
You could just about bank on it. I'd be shocked
if Russell Wilson does not start.

Speaker 21 (01:04:54):
And I can't believe that either, I think, but feel.

Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
You know, it's a controversy topic, but I think Mike
Toman honestly knows what he's doing. But we're going to
find out. Doug appreciate hear from me. Don't be a stranger.
Stephen Kansas City rejoins us. You've been a fixture in
this segment. What are your thoughts on the tonight's subject matter?

Speaker 10 (01:05:14):
Bernon Burnie, You know, I think it's there's kind of
a theme here. It's sort of sad when a guy
doesn't know that it's time to go that Aaron Rodgers,
I think he's done too much, too much tea. You know,
I'm I'm a I used to be a Bears fan,
but you know, this guy, this guy is is over.

(01:05:35):
You know. It's just it's not going to end well
in New York. It's it's just going to get crazier
and weirder weirder from here.

Speaker 4 (01:05:43):
He needs to.

Speaker 10 (01:05:45):
I know the money is awfully huge, but maybe he
can take it for another another few months or so.
But I think it's I think they're going to find
a way to get get rid of him.

Speaker 9 (01:05:56):
Or or trade him away.

Speaker 10 (01:06:00):
About the organ situation, you know, I wish the n
c A could change the rules faster regarding women's volleyball
in San Jose State than they do with the organ
football team they've got. They've got, the NCAS got a
ton of problems. We're regarding this Nevada San Jose volleyball

(01:06:24):
game too. You know, they seem to they seem to
jump on the the issues that they really care about. Boy,
they they sure they cared about this this organ thing.
They don't like to be made pools.

Speaker 7 (01:06:37):
Well.

Speaker 2 (01:06:38):
The thing is, the thing you got to understand is
it's it's the game of the year, so far and
I don't know what Texas Georgia brings Saturday and all that,
but this has real playoff implications, real conference implications, and
because it happened at the very end of the game
and the way it went down, it's a it's a cause.
Thanks for checking in, Steve. It's a cause for real
discussion and the truth, the truth of the matter is

(01:07:01):
there are varying opinions on this. Why did the NCAA
change the rule? Why just leave it alone?

Speaker 9 (01:07:06):
Then?

Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
So there's something there. It's just where you said, is
where you stand? Thank thanks again for checking in. By
the way, ever so quickly, I'll tell you what. I'll
get a couple of tweets I on to read. I'm
gonna get to that in a minute. Jerome and Charleston,
South Carolina? Are you wide awake tonight? Jerome? Where are
we tonight?

Speaker 10 (01:07:25):
You? You?

Speaker 6 (01:07:26):
You know a little bit about music? You know, I'm
sitting here thinking about you listening. You're saying, did you
ever hear that song? You ever? Can't say? Goodbye? Is
hard to do by twelve.

Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
I'm very familiar with both of them. Go ahead, well,
I'm sure you're gonna tie this into something it's Gloria Gayner.
By the way, you trivia not who said never can't.

Speaker 6 (01:07:47):
Say that's right. But uh, hey, he's on Look, he's
on bar time. Okay, the guys like forty. Look, he's
passed his prime.

Speaker 23 (01:07:57):
So many couldn't leave it.

Speaker 6 (01:08:01):
Man, it's hard, man, you lived up my style?

Speaker 23 (01:08:04):
You miss it?

Speaker 6 (01:08:05):
I mean it's hard to do. I mean, look at
all the adulation John's still going through. Man, when he
gets together with a lot of his peers. Man, it's
like Christmas. Man, you just stussed up. So I can
understand why he still wants to keep playing. I remember
something Joe Montannas said a long time ago. He said,
in order to get under the time, they gonna have

(01:08:26):
to tear the jersey off his back.

Speaker 2 (01:08:28):
And you know, Aaron Rodgers is good for the Jets
or is he becoming part of the problem.

Speaker 6 (01:08:34):
I don't know if he's part of problem. But he
just wants to keep playing. Many chancing that trophy. Hey,
it's hard, man, when you get ahold of it, it's hard.

Speaker 2 (01:08:45):
But any thoughts Jerome on any thoughts on the Oregon
situation in the Twelve Men on the Field Last Saturday
Night against a House State.

Speaker 3 (01:08:55):
Hey.

Speaker 6 (01:08:55):
Look, in competition, anything's possible.

Speaker 17 (01:08:59):
You do what you have to do.

Speaker 6 (01:09:01):
But hey, you seat is not over man, you got
the playoffs and everything. They may have to see someone
like Ohio State again. Okay, see see all right?

Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
I like the way you wrap that up there, go.

Speaker 6 (01:09:14):
Ahead, Oh schlick move. Hey, what about mister Tippings with
the guys falling down the field? You know, take an
entry to slow down the top.

Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
Dude, I gotta tell you, listen to my show Saturday night.
I'm gonna go over some of the most classic cheating
scandals and sports. And I'm telling you right now, I
could do a whole four hour show, thanks for checking Injurim,
a whole four hour show on cheating if I wanted
to bore people with golf and cheating and sandbanging and

(01:09:46):
college tennis and how secret filming and sports isn't just
limited to football, and how hard it is to prove
why does some of the sports greatest people to cheat
Chess players have cheated? All right? We know about the
steroid era, you know about the huge astros. I mean,
trust me, I'm not throwing Dan Enning under the bus.
What I'm trying to do is have a roundtable discussion,
which I think everybody's done a great job tonight. John

(01:10:07):
and Vegas you're up next.

Speaker 23 (01:10:08):
Your sorry about that?

Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
It's right good?

Speaker 23 (01:10:11):
Hey, Yeah, do we know that that landing definitely knew
about that rule.

Speaker 2 (01:10:17):
Yes, he copped to it. He copped to it Wednesday,
and I think, as early callers said, he kind of
wanted to take a little bit of a victory lap.

Speaker 23 (01:10:24):
Okay, well, he might have actually have made a mistake
and wanted to cop to knowing something that he didn't know.

Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
If they look, he admitted, they work on it in practice.
Then they called time out and then a twelve player
runs on the field. They had a sense where the
play was going. The pass went toward the twelfth player
the same coincidence, and he copped to it. That's so
that's where it stands. John, Is he just he's just
exploiting a loophole.

Speaker 23 (01:10:51):
That's a lot of practice to exploit the loophole, that's
for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:10:54):
Well it taded off for him.

Speaker 9 (01:10:57):
Yeah, we'll never know.

Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
Ohio State didn't have enough time they get in position
to kick the field goal.

Speaker 23 (01:11:02):
They're overrated anyway. I think Ohio State every year they're
praised to be number one, number two, they've never come through.
I don't think either one of them are gonna win
anything big this.

Speaker 2 (01:11:13):
Year, entirely possible. What's your thoughts on Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 23 (01:11:18):
I think everybody's jealous of them.

Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
Really.

Speaker 23 (01:11:23):
Yep, he's a winner. He's gonna come out Sunday and
beat Pittsburgh's butt.

Speaker 2 (01:11:29):
Watch well, they're favored their favorite. Yeah, I can't. I'm
not betting that game.

Speaker 23 (01:11:37):
The season's long for being over. He's a winner.

Speaker 2 (01:11:41):
Okay. I respect John. You're the first call tonight that
is taken off for Aaron Rodgers, and you've heard me
say it a thousand times, and I appreciate your candor that.
The most boring conversations are when we all agree. So look,
if you do like Aaron and you think he's still
going to lead it to the Promised Land, or he's
going to do better than what people are anticipating based
on past performance, bring it. We want to hear from it.

(01:12:04):

Speaker 7 (01:13:02):
How you doing good?

Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Question?

Speaker 7 (01:13:05):
Cheating? Cheating and sports is what you can get away with.
If you can cheat and get away with it, you
get away with the case. Cause there's tons of cheating
in sports. The best part of you get away with it.

Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
That's fine, Okay, I accept that, But do you think
Dan Lanning was cheating that that's what I'm trying to
figure out. Yet here was I don't I'm asking I'm
just asking you what you thought.

Speaker 7 (01:13:27):
I don't have any I think if you can get
away with it, that's fine.

Speaker 2 (01:13:33):
Okay, So it was justifiable. Yeah, the fair enough. If
there's one thing I like, it's someone who's got their
mind made up. And that's what we're looking for here.
So you were about to jump to Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 7 (01:13:44):
Bill, Yes, if people watch him and there's all kinds
of excuses, he says this. He says that the bottom
line is the man's running around on a crate of eggs. Okay,
he's got no legs. He can't make any sharp movements.
Full of legs, he's running around like he's gingerly moving around.
If you don't have legs, you don't have an arm.

(01:14:06):
They're close going wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:14:09):
But you hope, you hope from all right? Thanks, Bill appreciated. Uh,
you'd hope for more of a Hall of Famer. I
mean he threw three picks in London and he missed
Garrett Wilson by a country mile. I mean, Uncle Rico
would have dropped the dime right there. You know you
love my uncle Rico references. Don't act like you don't,
Tyler and Phoenix, You're up next? What's going on, Bud?

Speaker 1 (01:14:28):
Hey?

Speaker 16 (01:14:28):
Why?

Speaker 6 (01:14:29):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (01:14:29):
Bernie?

Speaker 2 (01:14:29):
How are you doing well? Thank you.

Speaker 23 (01:14:33):
So?

Speaker 24 (01:14:33):
On the the Oregan thing, Like I personally, I don't
think it's cheating. I mean, it's not all that dissimilar
than what Belichick had like a while back, where he
used a loophole to basically get like an extra time
out or whatever.

Speaker 15 (01:14:45):
It's not cheating.

Speaker 24 (01:14:46):
Cheating is knowingly breaking a rule and trying.

Speaker 6 (01:14:49):
To get away with it.

Speaker 15 (01:14:50):
With more shocks here.

Speaker 24 (01:14:51):
Is that it took it took this guy doing it
for them to realize that this is even a thing.

Speaker 15 (01:14:57):
How did no other.

Speaker 24 (01:14:58):
Coach getting eight millions.

Speaker 15 (01:14:59):
Of in all of college football pulled the.

Speaker 24 (01:15:02):
Same thing at any time where they had to do
a rule change.

Speaker 2 (01:15:06):
I think he's probably been done before. This was on
national TV with national playoff implications between two powerhouses, and
I think having Ohio stayed involved with also part of
the next But raise you raise a fair issue, Tyler.
Any thoughts on Aaron Rodgers?

Speaker 24 (01:15:20):
Yeah, I mean I've called and talked about Aaron Rodgers
before and it's the same thing, like I've said it
with him, is you know, when someone shows you who
they are.

Speaker 10 (01:15:28):
Believe them.

Speaker 24 (01:15:29):
So anybody who gets in bed with Aaron Rodgers should
be prepared for what they're getting. It's the same as
Lebron James. And you shouldn't act surprised when this is
what you get. Robert Salad, probably with arrogance, thought to
be different with him.

Speaker 11 (01:15:41):
It wasn't.

Speaker 24 (01:15:42):
He paid the price for it. That's what you get
Aaron Rodgers. He's done, he's washed up.

Speaker 10 (01:15:48):
He's a loser.

Speaker 24 (01:15:49):
I'm just over it with Aaron Rodgers. But he blames
everybody else and they treat him like he's just the
king of the earth.

Speaker 2 (01:15:55):
There, that's pretty damn well, said Tyler. You covered a
hell of a lot there in the Economy of Wards.
Props to you. Excellent call, Greg and Michigan wraps it
up tonight. You'll be the final word on the two
midnight hour topics. What you got for us?

Speaker 25 (01:16:10):
Well, I'll tell you what is it cheating or not cheating? Well,
if you get away with it or now, I don't know,
it is cheating because they changed the rule, they changed
the loophole. If it wasn't nothing wrong with it, they
would have did anything about it, and he gained the
advantage by cheating.

Speaker 2 (01:16:28):
Yeah, I mean, I look, these are all excellent points.
What we're trying to do is just get sort of
an amalgam of opinions from people around the country who
are bright people, and that you know, you're bringing an
excellent point. Why they change the rule if or why
did they implement or augment the rule if there was

(01:16:49):
no ill will done here. Yeah, I can't argue with
you on that.

Speaker 25 (01:16:52):
And the thing is that in Ohio State we'll probably
see him again. But their defense was sou vanilla. Didny
put any pressure on a quarterback, didn't Blitz, didn't do
anything to change the front at all to make Gabriel uncomfortable.
And I think when they play again, those have to
loosen the reins up a little bit, put the pressure on,
and you might be all right, But otherwise they're sitting
ducts back there all right?

Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
Real quickly Aaron Rodgers problem or solution, Well, Aaron.

Speaker 7 (01:17:16):
Rodgers is old.

Speaker 25 (01:17:18):
You know, you got to realize that, and you're in
the forties. And in his younger years he was able
to move dance around the pocket a little bit He's
never a four to four to forty man.

Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
But he had moved his.

Speaker 25 (01:17:26):
Feet enough that he had a good passing angles and
he has a great arm. But I think your offense, too,
is vanilla. You know, you got to get some motion going.
You've gotta be a different things where.

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
Well, they don't run any play action and they throw
too much and don't run enough. He's got to be
a bit of a time crunch, Greg, But don't be
a don't be a stranger man. I want to hear
from you again. And the truth of the matter is,
we all know Aaron Rodgers isn't the same as forty
as he was at thirty two. We get that. But
they brought him in. He is what he is. They
paid him a lot of money and he took the job.
And to who much is given, much is expected. And

(01:17:57):
I've seen you miss a lot of throws guys with
his feet set. He just has. And so this is
not this is a complex situation. I think we all
look to Sunday's game as one that's really going to
be a telltale. I want to read spos Weeds tweet
said I'm a beaver, but I will say this, he
means Oregon State beaver Dan Lanny used the rules as

(01:18:19):
they were sneaky, yes, illegal or cheating not at the
time to Battlehouse State, you were out coached you with
it again, I'm a beaver, but I got a handed
to him. So there you have it. I think the
overwhelming majority is basically stating that Dan Lanning, more often
than not just took advantage of a loophole and didn't
classify it as cheating hardcore, although it did dance a line.

(01:18:41):
And Aaron Rodgers is Aaron Rodgers. Why should we be
surprised he is who he is. He's a pin in
the butt, he's a troll, he's morphed into a cranky
old man, and he's not performing on the field. Other
than that, things are wonderful coming up. You're like movies.
Keep it locked. You're listening to Bernie Frales show on
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (01:19:00):
Ain't no Fox Sports Radio?

Speaker 2 (01:19:02):
Yeah that's right, you heard the man. The Bernie Frawdle
Show keeps rolling right along. My name is Bernie Frowdle.
We are coming you live from the tyrat dot com

Wanna help you get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping,

(01:19:24):
great Bob Costas once said, if you know baseball, you
know rock and roll. Well, if you know sports, you
know movies. They intertwine all the time. That is why
we bring you a movie segment, a movie roundtable every
Friday into Saturday, one m Pacific, four m Eastern. We
call it Breeze threes.

Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
Not one, not two, but three sports. It's entertainment, it's good.

Speaker 5 (01:19:54):
It's Breeze three.

Speaker 19 (01:19:56):
Alrighty. So, with the Mets and Yankees both in the
I postseason, and the Jets being involved with a horrific
Monday night football game that will I never want to
talk about or hear about ever again, and then the
Jets obviously landing DeVante Adams in the most obvious trade
in NFL history, I thought it'd be a good idea
to dedicate Breeze three to movies that have to do

(01:20:18):
with New York. So I'll go ahead and start with
a nineteen fifty seven classic and a fair to remember
Carrie Grant and Deborah Kerr, and I think It's like
one of the best like romantic movies of all time,
just because like there's just like it starts off like
so adorable. There's like this like dramatic moment and I

(01:20:39):
don't really want to kill it just in case people
haven't seen it, but just like a really dramatic moment
where you don't know if something's going to happen. But
they were they met on a cruise ship and even
though they're involved with other people, they develop a really
close relationship and decide they kind of want to just
like start a new life together, and like we'll meet
up at the Empire state building on this state six

(01:21:00):
months and so something happens and one of them doesn't
actually go there in six months time. Great movie, and
so it kind of just leads to like what's gonna happen?
So definitely recommend and if case in case nobody has
seen it. The second movie I'm gonna go with was
the nineteen seventy six classic Taxi Driver, Yes looking at me,

(01:21:27):
you're talking to me, which was actually I read that
it was it was which call it when you figure
it out on the spot, Like, oh my god, I
totally provised, improvised Yeah, it totally improvised, really depressing movie.
I feel like I've seen it a few times and
most recently probably about like six months ago, and my gosh,

(01:21:49):
it's so good. Like I'm kind of obsessed with Robert
de Niro's acting, So that's why I've watched it.

Speaker 21 (01:21:53):
A few times.

Speaker 26 (01:21:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 19 (01:21:55):
So, and then especially what happens at the end of
the movie, just kind of the difference of how New
York looked at the beginning and how New York looked
at the end of the movie. And it's all like
it starts off really it's really dirty, and you know,
there's a lot kind of happening on the streets, but
at the end of the movie, everything's super clean and
it's just different. So I there's a lot of controversy.

Speaker 2 (01:22:18):
I think that movie got a lot of critical acclaim. Obviously,
Travis Bikele, played by Robertson New York, came in one
of his iconic characters, typical for a Martin score Seasy movie,
extremely edgy, but look at the cast as well, a
young Jodie Foster, Harvey Kytail, Albert Brooks, Albert Bruk, Schuffard,
Syble Shepherd. Look that movie was just intense. You know,

(01:22:40):
he practiced that line looking in the mirror anyway, continue on.

Speaker 19 (01:22:42):
Yeah, so such a great movie. So and then the
last one, I went with a pretty just like fun one.
You've got mail Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, and especially
because it happens in the fall time and or like
over specifically in the fall, like don't you just love
New York in the Fall? That's like a really really

(01:23:03):
like famous quote, and definitely like like that was their
second movie together after Sleepless in Seattle, and I just
think it's a classic. And it just shows New York
just like a beautiful side kind of like a small
kind of bookstore Meg Ryan versus like the big Metropolitan
bookstore that Tom Hanks is a part of. So it

(01:23:24):
just kind of has that dynamic between the two. Also
a definite rom com, super cute, but takes place on
just like a really pretty side of New York in
the nineties. So those are my breeze three. I'm actually
gonna throw it to Kevin Figures, who is back, which
is super exciting. So I'm gonna switch things up a

(01:23:45):
bit for his three, and then we'll go to Mark
for his three and we'll end it with Bernie.

Speaker 4 (01:23:49):
I'm gonna go a little lighter with my three there, Bri.
I feel like all of these are probably listed as comedies.
So the first I'm gonna go with is the first Ghostbusters.
So you got dan Ackroyd, Yes, you know all the
star study cast there, you know, hysterical.

Speaker 5 (01:24:02):
I remember Slimer. I was a kid when it came
As a matter of fact, I wasn't born.

Speaker 4 (01:24:05):
I watched it on VHS a couple of years after
it came out in theaters, and it instantly became one
of my favorite movies as a former fat kid. Of course,
I love the State puff marshmallow Man always enjoyed that. Yeah, exactly,
huge marshmallow It absolutely was. So that was one of
my favorite movies from my childhood. Home Alone two also
based in New York. Another one of my favorites from

(01:24:27):
when I was a kid. Christmas my favorite holidays. So naturally,
if you check if you remember, there's a cameo from
a former president in there. So he had to actually
get permission. He actually asked to be in the film.
He said, if you guys want to film in my hotel,
you have to put me in the movie. And he
got a cameo in the movie, but I'll leave that alone,
and my last one will be coming to America. I mean,

(01:24:48):
who does want a burger from McDowell's now? Who knows
how my taste of what's in it. But nevertheless, one
of the funnier movies I've ever seen to.

Speaker 2 (01:24:56):
This day, eally classic.

Speaker 5 (01:24:58):
It is Bernie and Kevin.

Speaker 2 (01:25:00):
I didn't mean it, you know, please, I want you
to finish, but I lose it every time. Well, first
of all, Eddie Murphy plays about nine characters. The barber
shop at the end, right, Joe Louise was thirty nine
years little when he lost the rocking MOUs You next,
but when they're they're at that concert, remember the name
of the pan sexual Chocolate can sing? That boy can
sing anyway, go on.

Speaker 4 (01:25:22):
It's one of those movies, Bernie though, Like if you're
flipping through channels you have no there's nothing on, and
you land, you land on it, you leave it there.
That's like a mark of a good film as far
as I'm concerned. If it's one, then no matter what
you're doing or what's happening, as long as they're not
like if the super Bowl is not on and I'm
flipping through channels and coming too. America's on. I'm stopping
right there. If nother I gotta break out my soul

(01:25:44):
glow on that, you.

Speaker 2 (01:25:44):
Know what I mean? Oh, yes, the Jerry Curl, Yes,
you know, John Amos, Eddie Murphy, James Earl Jones amazing
again another cri And by the way, let's not pooh pooh.
The cast in Ghostbusters Caerl Ramis, Bill Murray, Rick Moranis
dak Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver.

Speaker 5 (01:26:05):
Absolutely yeah, that.

Speaker 2 (01:26:06):
Movie just epically, you know, it's and it holds up.

Speaker 4 (01:26:11):
The original Ghostbusters. Bree, that's too. Oh all right, those
are my three.

Speaker 19 (01:26:17):
Alrighty, then we'll go to Mark for here give it
up the.

Speaker 2 (01:26:20):
Theme song too, which became a top forty.

Speaker 5 (01:26:21):
Eight oho oh gosh.

Speaker 18 (01:26:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:26:24):
And TV must have run that video of bazillion times gazillion.

Speaker 5 (01:26:28):
So my three are Gangs of New York.

Speaker 26 (01:26:31):
And I love that one just because it shows a
good one just for me watching it, the beginnings of
New York, where there's a good thing about it's a
new city, that whole thing. There's a good part about it,
but then there's the bad part, which is the Gangs
of New York with they which is they focus on
Daniel Day Lewis and Leonardo DiCaprio. The next one I
was thinking about was Working Girl with Melanie Griffith and

(01:26:54):
Harrison Ford and Sigourney.

Speaker 2 (01:26:56):
Rated about someone overlooked for their performance.

Speaker 26 (01:26:58):
Yes, yeah, somebody's still somebody's idea, which turned out to
be a big idea, and so that's kind of what
the movie's about. But that's a good movie, just like
those performances and just those three working together. And then
the third movie I picked with Moonstruck with Shaer and
Nicholas Cage, just because it's a New York thing. It
just you know, share Nicholas Cage and just the whole

(01:27:20):
relationship thing. And Johnny Cameria just loved that life from
that movie. So just those are my breeze three.

Speaker 19 (01:27:26):
Snap out of It. I love that movie. That's one
of my favorites. Okay, Bernie, you're up, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:27:32):
So when we talk about movies in New York, for me,
my number one rule was they had to actually be
in New York because so many times films are made
and they see in New York, but it's really in Toronto.
I'll give you example Suits, the franchise Suits, which had
a great seven year run and then it you know,
just finished up on Netflix again. That was filmed in Toronto.

(01:27:53):
Only the trailer and only the very first episode was
New York. So it's always a pet peeve of mine
when you've been to a city, know what it looks like,
and it's it really wasn't filmed there. So that was
my first rule. So I have to start with an
all time classic. I thought one of you would have gotten.
But it's okay, that's why we do this Saturday night fever. Epic.

(01:28:15):
Bree's gonna take us around the room to comment, but
here on everybody else's movies. But look, you know who
can forget Tony Manero and you know John Travolta, and
right on down the line the Beg's It had a
bunch of hits. It just and it was New York
and they was filmed right in some of the cafes, right,
So I think an epic, quintessential New York movie. The

(01:28:36):
second one also with Robert de Niro playing an entirely
different role in Jazz Palmentary, a Bronx tale, also filmed
in New York. Epically classic movie with a great all
star cast and lots of lines. And it was of
course a mob movie. And then the third one and
if you've ever been to Cats Delhi in New York,
that's where the scene was filmed. And and and of

(01:29:00):
course I'm talking about Harry Metsally. I thought Billy Crystal
was hilarious. H and again it took place in New York.
You knew it was in New York, and people go
to the Cat's Dilly in New York to ask where
Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal sat for that same so
Saturday Night Fever Bronx Tall when Harry met Sally. For me,

(01:29:21):
it was important that these movies actually took place in
New York and you knew it was in New York.

Speaker 19 (01:29:27):
Nice say, is they're good? When Harry Mittsally was on
one of my honorable mentions for sure, and I think
Saturday Night Fever was on Kevin's honorable mention for sure.

Speaker 4 (01:29:36):
Definitely. I want to honest it the first time, I
wasn't that impressed. I thought it was like, this really
isn't all that great? And I watched it again, I
was like, you know what, I see the appeal for it.

Speaker 2 (01:29:44):
By the way, I want to comment on Mark's Gangs
in New York. It's almost three hours, but again massive
all star cast, John c Riley, Danield, Lewis, Leonardo DiCaprio.
It's extremely violent movie. So if you don't like that,
you might not like this. But it has to be
told that way. It takes place in the mid eighteen
hundreds and it's sitting like you know, when Abraham Linky

(01:30:08):
was president basically, but it's based on a lot of
historical data on the territorial fight. And again all star casts,
so that's an intense one. Once again, it's a Martin
Scores a easy movie.

Speaker 4 (01:30:20):
And I will also throw some honorable mentions in there
that I had do the right thing.

Speaker 2 (01:30:24):
Spike Lee my list, I almost did that.

Speaker 4 (01:30:27):
Yeah, Radio raheem Radio rhiem. Absolutely love that. And then
Escape from New York. I know people are Kurt Russell
canby a skin. Yeah, it could be a bit of
a I guess a meathead or whatever you want to
call it for certain people.

Speaker 5 (01:30:38):
Escape from LA we don't have to talk about, but
escape from New York. Come on, Mark, let escape from
New York with spectacular.

Speaker 2 (01:30:45):
Snake Pliskin yes. I mean, you know what, I haven't
seen that movie in forever. Does it hold up, Kevin,
Because oftentimes you go watch a movie that we thought
was a classic, and unfortunately a lot of times they
don't hold up. Does that one hold up?

Speaker 4 (01:30:56):
You know, it's been a while since I've seen I
don't know if I call it a classic, and I'm
sure there's I.

Speaker 2 (01:31:00):
Think, almost fifty years ago.

Speaker 5 (01:31:01):
Yeah, it seems like at this point in time.

Speaker 2 (01:31:03):
It doesn't mean it can't hold up, no, tell you no.

Speaker 4 (01:31:06):
But I wouldn't necessarily call it a classic, but maybe
more of a cult classic.

Speaker 2 (01:31:11):
Okay, yeah, that's for sure, go ahead, Martin.

Speaker 26 (01:31:14):
So my honorable mentions would be Carlito's Way right, and
Penelope Pianne Miller and Harry met Sally Once upon a
Time in New York and Black Swan.

Speaker 5 (01:31:29):
Black Swan was good, it was very good.

Speaker 19 (01:31:33):
And then just Natalie Portman. Yeah, oh my god, it's
a classic. Oh Nalie Portman. Kevin loves Natalie Portman.

Speaker 5 (01:31:40):
That's right, that's right. Put herself through hell for that role,
by the way, and look like it.

Speaker 19 (01:31:45):
And then I'm just going to finish with just the
last two of my honorable mentions Breakfast at Tiffany's obviously
okay with Audrey Haber made.

Speaker 2 (01:31:53):
The song moon River famous.

Speaker 19 (01:31:54):
Yes, and then Eddie with Whoopi Goldberg because she was
a coach of the next Yeah, I forgot about.

Speaker 2 (01:32:05):
Mark Okay, So Mark, props to you again. Here's why
that's so impactful. Not only was it filmed in New
York City, He's part inly filmed in all five boroughs,
Manhattan and Brooklyn all around, although there was one scene
filmed in Florida. But because it's about a Puerto Rican
xicon who gets out of jail, right, you know this.

Speaker 5 (01:32:23):
Whole that was the part with the boat right.

Speaker 2 (01:32:28):
Memory served probably, But the point is, not only was
it filmed in New York, it was filmed in multiple
locations in New York Grand Central Station, subway stations, King's
point manhat So yeah, I know I go deep into
these movies because I'm a movie buff. But the point
of the matter is these are the quintessential New York
movies we're talking about because they really were filmed in

(01:32:49):
New York.

Speaker 5 (01:32:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 19 (01:32:50):
So that was our breeze three for the week. That
was awesome, guys, Thank you, great job.

Speaker 2 (01:32:54):
All the way around. Great job everybody, good thoughts, good
back you know, good backstory and all of that good stuff.
So the Bernie Fraddle Show keeps rolling right along, coming
up believe.

Speaker 3 (01:33:07):
It or not.

Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
Yeah, we actually got some college football on Saturday, and
I want to talk about the biggest matchups, including probably
the biggest matchup of the day. And this is where
we're at right now. There's all kinds of action in
college football kicking off here in just a matter of hours.
We want to get to that as well. On Bernie
Freddle We are company line from the tarat dot com

studios and Las Vegas, keeping locked the Bernie Fraddle Show
on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (01:33:32):
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to

Speaker 2 (01:33:44):
All right back on the Bernie Fraddle Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Come to line from the Tarret dot com studios here
in Las Vegas. We're a little over eight hours away
from kicking off Week seven in college football and top
and Front of Centers Georgia at Texas. This will be
Texas the long, orange, toughest test of the season. They've

(01:34:06):
looked like a completely dominant team in the country through
the first seven weeks. That's why their number one ranking
is justified. They won their first six games by an
average of thirty seven points. But it should be noted
they only beat one top ten team or top twenty
five team. Excuse me, Michigan, that's it, the only one
they've beaten. Georgia will present the biggest challenge, but Georgia

(01:34:28):
no longer has Brock Bauers or lab mconkey. I think
Carson Beck will play well after that first half against Alabama.
He's been on fire over the last ten quarters. But
Texas they're improvement in coverage. They have some of the
best defensive backs in the country. They have a pass
rush to beat the band and their passing statistics on
defense against them are daunting. Are daunting. So I would

(01:34:52):
just say this, I feel like this is a Texas victory.
What you got to watch, though, is that both teams
you have design on being in the playoffs, or both
SEC teams. This would be Georgia's second loss. If they
were to lose, it would be Texas's first loss. So
Georgia canilla afford to lose this game. Who's the real
Michigan Wolverines. I don't think they're that great, but they're

(01:35:14):
kind of okay. Start, got a decent defensive line, their
passing game is non existent. Okay, running game, they're physical.
They just have the depth they had last year. They're
facing it very plucky. Number twenty two ranked fighting a
LIONI Michigan going with their third starting quarterback in seven games.
We all know where that's headed. I would just say this,

(01:35:35):
It'll be low scoring, points will be at a premium.
Illinois's got to prove they can handle an elite pass
rush like Michigan's. Well, it could be if they don't,
it could be a replay of what happened when Illinois
played Penn State, and if you saw that game, Penn
State dominated on the defensive line. Number seven Alabama at
number eleven Tennessee. This one should be an absolute doozy.

(01:36:00):
Two weeks ago, Obama and Tennessee ranked first and fourth
in the APE Pole. Now they're out of the top
five because of some uninspiring performances recently. Alabama just lost
two weeks ago to Vanderbilt. Is twenty two point favorites.
Tennessee fell to Arkansas as a fourteen point favorite. But
this is a hell of a matchup on multiple fronts,

(01:36:22):
all right, But the key to slowing down Alabama's offense
is to force Jalen Millroll to be methodical. Tennessee has
a top five run defense in the country, but they
haven't faced a quarterback as dynamic as Jalen Milroe. I
realize Alabama has the awards and people want to keep
second guessing. You know, Kalin Debor. Come on, he took

(01:36:44):
over for a legend. He's lost one game. Let's see
what he does. I think Alabama's DNA has enough to
get it done at Tennessee. Another game and this will
kick off here at non am Pacific noon Eastern on
Fox Nebraska. Don't don't look now. Indiana is number sixteen

(01:37:06):
and they're pretty good. They came out on the West
Coast and kicked UCLA around the field, and they're they're
off to you know, they're off to a very historic start.
They were only three and nine last year. They six
and zero this year. They get their new head coach,
Kurt Signetti from from James Madison, who basically predicted this
would happen and I think this is a toss up game.

(01:37:32):
Indiana is I think the more complete team, like I
think Texas is the more complete team over Georgia. But
their offensive balance I think makes the Hoosiers dangerous. And
then at this point, if they beat Nebraska, they're a
dark horse, you know, playoff contender. Indiana simply is, you
got to put them on the list if they win.

(01:37:53):
The one thing to watch, the one matchup is Dylan
Riola has been very successful, the son of Dominic Royola,
former center the Detroit Lions that covered those teams. Here's
what's interesting. Against man coverage, Dilan Royola has been okay,
not great by a long shot, but Dilan Royola, Nebraska's quarterback,

(01:38:14):
has been outstanding against zone defenses this year. Guess what
Nebraska check that. Guess what? Indiana plays a zone defense.
So if Raila does well against Indiana's zone heavy defense,
Nebraska can steal this game. Now it is at Indiana
and again Indiana six and zero, but they haven't beaten
the top fifty five team in pro football focuses power rankings,

(01:38:38):
and a lot of their wins have come against you know,
less than spectacular schools. But you know, the you know
the drill. I mean, at the end of the year,
they don't ask Cole just how many. But this will
be an excellent test for Indiana. I don't know if
I'm sold on Miami or not. I know some professional
betters that really like Miami to catch Louville at Louisville again.

(01:39:02):
This is a game that kicks off here in about
seven about seven and a half hours nine am Pacific
noon Eastern. And the Hurricanes, they've been whistling through the graveyard,
playing with the fire of their last two games. They
needed to ten point comeback with nine minutes to go
and a crazy ass hail Mary that some people don't
think was really a hail Mary to escape Virginia Tech

(01:39:24):
thirty eight thirty four. The following week, they needed a
twenty five point comeback in the second half to squeak
by a cow by one, and they were a ten
point favorite in that game. However, you look for Strengthorth's weaknesses,
and cam Ward is due for a good game, a
big game, and Miami's got a very elite wide receiver
group and that should be very favorable matchup against Louisville

(01:39:46):
because their secondary has frankly struggled all year. Their cornerbacks
have been an issue all year, and when you look
at their cornerback grades, they're not good all right. And
Miami's front seven probably has been the best part of
the team so far. They have, you know, between their
linebackers and their front seven, they get after it. And
Louisville's offensive line is below average if you look at

(01:40:09):
the you know the nerd metrics and rankings, and the
only chance Louisville has in this game is to run
the ball, run the ball, and run the ball more.
They have a stable of good running backs. They're eleventh
in the nation the average almost seven yards of carry,
and Miami's defense only ranked sixtieth against the run. So
if Louisville can somehow run the ball and keep the
ball out of Cam Warren's heads, it could be interesting.

(01:40:31):
But most people I talk to think it's Miami's game
to win. Louisville can't stop vertical passes, and you know,
Miami has found a way to win ugly, but they
have found a way to win. So it's some beauties
on Saturday Georgia, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee. I didn't even get
to the Colorado game. Bevo Deon's done a fabulous job
at Colorado. I mean they were a one win team

(01:40:53):
two years ago. They only won four games last year.
They have had injuries. Actually, before my eyes, their offensive
line is taking shape. You know, they're overusing Travis Hunter.
They're wearing them out, playing one hundred and thirty plays
a game. He's probably the best player in the country.
I don't know if he win the Heisman, but you
sure couldn't argue if he did. Can Colorado? Can Colorado
take care of business against Arizona? Can they do that?

(01:41:16):
It's at Arizona four pm Eastern time. Despite losing to
Kansas State last week, Colorado's played well of late. The
same cannot be said for Arizona. This is where your
shdoor Sanders has to put colorado Ona's back, Otherwise they
lose two in a row and they follow to four
and three, and then the whispers start again about Colorado
being overrated. Whatever you get to drill. Coming up, we

(01:41:39):
will continue with some thoughts in terms of a huge
event in Austin, Texas Saturday and watch such a big
TV event. But first we go to our guy, Kevin
Figures with the latest.

Speaker 4 (01:41:50):
All right, Bernie and the Yankees won victory away from
a trip to the World Series after they picked up
an eight to six victory over the Guardians in Cleveland
Friday night. The Bronx Bombers got home runs from one
On Soto and John Carlos Stanton.

Speaker 5 (01:42:01):
They broke us six to six.

Speaker 4 (01:42:03):
Tie in the top of the ninth inning by scoring
a run on an error by shortstop Brian Rochio. New
York has a three to one series lead and can
close it out with a victory later tonight. The Mets
stayed alive in the NLCS after dominating the Dodgers. New
York had a ten to two lead through five innings
and held off an LA rally to notch a twelve
to six victory to force a game six back in

(01:42:23):
Los Angeles that will take place on Sunday nights. A
While finishing college football, as BYU scored a touchdown in
the final seconds to defeat Oklahoma State thirty eight to
thirty five and remain unbeaten at seven to oh Third
ranked Oregon also seven and zero, after shutting out Perdue
thirty five nothing. You had victories for Duke and Fresno
State in NFL News forty nine Ers running back Jordan

(01:42:44):
Mason is off of the injury report and we'll play
against the Chiefs, while rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall will make
his debut about two months after being shot in the
chest in an attempt at robbery.

Speaker 5 (01:42:54):
Back to Bernie, freddo all right.

Speaker 2 (01:42:56):
Kevin appreciated Bud a little later in the show, We
are going to die to a huge event in August.
I checked out in Austin, Texas Saturday, the biggest weekend
ever thanks to a perfect storm, which I'll share with you.
But first we bring you Chris Purffett's World of Soccer.

Speaker 3 (01:43:14):
The Greatest Goals, the thrilling finishes, the international drama. It's
all here in this report from the World of Soccer.

Speaker 27 (01:43:34):
A bit of a quirky story to kick off this
week in soccer, Bernie with a tails from the annals
of what the hell were they thinking? So National Women's
Soccer League nws AL, the premier soccer league in the
United States for women's soccer and probably trying to be
one of the top ones around the globe, announce a
new team that is slated to start playing in Boston.

(01:43:56):
One of the great sports cities of the United States
and one that the nw USL did not have there.
And this team's name was slated to be boss Nation
bos Nation bos Nation, Bos of course being the abbreviation
for Boston Nation, being Nation, the whole thing apparently being
an anagram of Bostonian, which is clever, I guess, but

(01:44:21):
the name seemed to really miss the mark with a
lot of fans and kind of came off feeling very weak,
among other things.

Speaker 3 (01:44:29):
Well.

Speaker 27 (01:44:29):
Boss Nation then later on, only a day after its announcement
or so, did put out an apology. However, that apology
was not for the name for Boss Nation. Rather it
was for probably the most unintendedly funny and weird marketing
campaigns I have seen in a while. This video campaign,

(01:44:50):
which was spread over social media and part of a website,
was called too Many Balls, and it highlighted how many
teams there were in Austin talking about how Boston loves
its balls and cold balls, new balls, goat balls, talking
about Tom Brady, who then cuts in in the video

(01:45:11):
basically making it and then saying that maybe Boston has
too many balls, and you very quickly get the assumption
as like, oh right, you're talking about men. You're talking
about men and men's sports, and this is supposed to be,
as the video cuts to a montage of young women
playing soccer, that it is a chance for a women's

(01:45:32):
team to step up here. However, this, for about eighteen thirteen,
fifty hundred different reasons, was a terrible idea and garnered
quite a bit of blowback from the North American soccer scene,
especially those of NWSL, A statement that was seen partially
as transphobic, mostly just missing the mark altogether in what

(01:45:55):
it was trying to say about any kind of gender
issues as far as sports up in Austin, and generally
just being cringey and very antagonistic to a city with
a lot of winning history to it. So The Boss Nation,
which already sounds really hard to roll off the tongue,
quickly put out a statement saying apologize that they we

(01:46:18):
missed the mark, which are words that I repeatedly see
all the times from people who just don't understand when
they miss the mark, but just keep they just keep
seeving the mist of mark, saying that we fully acknowledge
the content of the campaign to not reflect the safe,
welcome environment we strive to create for all, we apologize
the LGPTQ plus community, so on, so forth, hither thither there,
so not the not the launch boss nation was hoping for.

(01:46:42):
Still no word about their incredibly cringey name, which I
still am not a huge fan of, but we move.
If there was ever a sign that Mauricio Pochettino was
going to have a tough time coming in and just
trying to get this stuff rolling with United States, or
how much work there needs to be to turn this
culture around, look no further than the friendly that happened

(01:47:03):
in Guadalajara between United States and Mexico, where we finally
had a dose as sero, the famous two nil score
that seems to happen in the United States Mexico games.
The problem was the dos a sero was going the
other way than it usually does. Yes, Mexico to United
States nil. As the United States gets completely shut down

(01:47:24):
here and questions already starting to raise. This is one
of the first real big games of Poshatino has been
able to manage with this team. They were away from
home without a bunch of key figures, Western McKenny and
Christian Pulisic, among others. So safe to say not the
results that the United States wanted to see. Yes, they

(01:47:46):
were out without some of their stars, but it is
a full roster that still needs to be out there,
and Mexico is not the Mexico of old, even though
they are trying to get things back on the right track,
it is a grim, grim reminder of the work that
still needs to be done. For about two years with
the World Cup staring down the United States in this barrel,

(01:48:07):
another team internationally welcoming a new manager is our old
friends in England. We kind of passed over this in
the world of soccer that Gareth Southgate was given the
boot after another unsuccessful euro Championship campaign. England quite frankly
had kind of had enough with everything and it was
time to move on. After a bit of a time

(01:48:29):
with a caretaker, the English Lions have settled on Thomas Tushell,
formerly the manager of Chelsea, who joins a very long
list of managers who were kicked out on their ass
by Chelsea earlier earlier in twenty twenty two. He's been
spending last year or so with Bayern Munich, but represents

(01:48:51):
something of us an oddity for England, being a German
born manager. For England one of the very proud countries
of football. Tuschell has gone around and he is currently
rating the coaching staff at Chelsea right now as we speak,
to try to get things squared away and hopefully to
put England back on the track, because they have had

(01:49:14):
some of the most talent in the world right now,
far more than the United States, Let's be extremely clear
about that, but ultimately have failed repeatedly to get over
the hump. Now Southgates dismissal is a bit of a
curiosity at the end of the day, because I don't
know if you could get even much better than where
he was. You were runners up and two straight European Championships,

(01:49:39):
fourth place in the World Cup in twenty eighteen, twenty
twenty two World Cup, you were in the quarterfinal. I
don't know. It's so hard to get much better than that.
But unfortunately for England they've hit the curse of We
feel like we hit.

Speaker 5 (01:49:52):
A ceiling with this guy.

Speaker 27 (01:49:54):
Let me tell you, Bernie, no matter the sport, I've
seen and heard those words before and nothing could come
of it. We wish Touchle the best, but for England's expectations,
even he may not be able to match them. That's
going to do it for the World of Soccer this week, Bernie.
Next time, I want to talk about the changing reputation
of leagues across Europe, including one league that we kind

(01:50:16):
of dip our toes into now and then, but might
but according to some surveys out there, might honestly be
the second most competitive after the Premier League, as there
is a bit of a shake up to how we
perceive soccer right now for the time being. This weekend
we have the Premier League back in action. We've got
all the European leagues back in action after a bit

(01:50:37):
of an international break. Plenty to watch, plenty to get to.
We'll see you next time on the World of Soccer.

Speaker 2 (01:50:43):
One of the things that I'm curious about the US
as a new coach, can we ever ever have a
presence on the world stage. I don't know all the way.
Football fans be sure to tune into Fox Sports Radio
every Saturday morning beginning at nine am Eastern six am

Fox Sports Radio and the iHeart Radio app. Coming up,
we wrap up the show and we look ahead a
few hours to why Austin might be the center of
the sports universe Saturday anyway, and you didn't even think

(01:51:25):
about it. I'll fill in the blanks. Coming up. I'm
Bernie Fraddle. We are comedy line from the Las Vegas
Fox Sports Radio Tirack dot Com studios. Go and go away.
You're listening to the Bernie Fraddle Show on Fox Sports Radio.
All right, we'll wrapping it up on the Bernie Fradle Show,
Fox Sports Radio. We have been comedy line from the
Tarack dot Com studios here in Las Vegas. And before

(01:51:46):
I go any further, one think my broadcast team back
in Los Angeles. They've been with me since eleven pm
Pacific time on Friday night, Mark, Bri and Kevin. Appreciate
the teamwork, appreciate the effort. Good conversations tonight, and we
look forward to it next week. By the way, I'll
be back on these airwaves at eleven pm Pacific time

(01:52:07):
again on Saturday night. A lot of stuff to get to.
We'll recap which should be a very busy college football Saturday,
and then we're going to start to preview what will
be a very eventful NFL weekend. There are three huge
matchups that come to mind, Casey and San Francisco. Of course,
the Jets in Pittsburgh, Detroit, Minnesota. Have an update on

(01:52:29):
Tuatago Alt. My project might not DeVante Adams. You'll be
watching that this weekend. I don't think it's going to
be a trade that works out. I could be wrong.
I'll give you the history of n season wide receiver trades.
They're not great. By the way, we talked a lot
Friday night about the Oregon situation. Was it cheating or not? Well,
I'm going to share with you a history of some

(01:52:49):
of the most infamous cheating scandals in sports history. You're
going to get a kickout of a lot of them.
And then, of course we're gonna get into a couple
of other things. Tony Bennett's retirement from the end from
Virginia after just signing a six year extension. Boy, the
WNBA raps is going to be rapping on another season.
He only lost forty million this year and some people

(01:53:10):
are actually get nervous about that. We got to keep
it real and why do some of sports create as cheat?
Why do they? What do they do? We're going to
take you behind the curtain and get some quotes for
some famous people that are no longer playing they can
talk about it. And of course we're going to break
down a very busy NFL weekend, so we will cover
it all on the Bernie Friday Show. So we talked

(01:53:31):
about some We certainly talked about some of the key
matchups you're going to see on Saturday in college football
as this whole playoff thing starts to take shape. As
you know, it'll be a month long playoff. It'll start
on December twentieth, which is a Friday night. It'll go
all the way through January twentieth, which is a Monday night.

(01:53:52):
And in that month, you know, you've got twelve teams
and as each week unfolds, it sort of becomes a
survive in advance. To steal a line from my buddy
Tom Izzo, But what's happening in Austin, Texas later on
this afternoon, Believe it or not, Austin, Texas is preparing
for its biggest weekend ever in terms of sports, thanks

(01:54:16):
to a perfect storm of two major sporting events. At
least that's what all the billboards in Austin, Texas say
for starters. Later today, the Texas Longhorns, the top ranked
Texas Longhorns, will host number five Georgia and what is
going to be an epic SEC battle, the first time

(01:54:39):
Georgia has visited Texas and the Longhorns since nineteen fifty eight.
And by the way, it's Texas's first home game as
a member of the SEC. So that's what's happening on
Saturday later today, But on Sunday, the US Grand Prix

(01:55:00):
into six week or a checked at a six race
conclusion to Formula ones probably their most competitive season and
recent memory. Now, we never talked Formula one or racing
on here. We don't talk racing. We don't talk college
ought to racing because there's no such thing. But last year,
four hundred and thirty two thousand fans attended the circuit

(01:55:21):
of the America's over the three day F one race
and Daryl K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium can fit a
crowd of one hundred thousand, So you combine those two
figures alone represent more than half the estimated population of Austin, Texas.
That's five hundred and thirty two thousand. Austin, Texas doesn't
have a million people, five hundred and thirty two thousand

(01:55:43):
will be attending these sporting events. Now, why is this
such a big deal? Well, this isn't the first time
Texas has played a home game during an F one weekend,
but both parties are riding a wave of momentum of
the likes of Texas has never seen. Well that's not true.
They haven't been ranked number one since two thousand and eight.

(01:56:05):
If you remember, they end up making the National Championship
game in two thousand and nine when she was playing
in January twenty ten, Nick Sambins Alabama Crimson TDD Gollum.
That's the game where Colt McCoy got hurt. But F
one enters its final leg at twenty twenty four with
some very close races. There are drivers and Constructors' championships,

(01:56:26):
and this is kind of a welcome site for the
sport because there's no more domination by Max for Stopping
and Red Bull. So you add it all up, you
think these knuckleheads would be hooked up to a blender
starting early in the morning. In Austin, Texas, they might
be already now. This is going to be one wild
sports weekend in Austin, Texas. By the way, if you

(01:56:48):
plan on traveling there, the average nightly hotel price this
weekend is five hundred dollars.

Speaker 10 (01:56:53):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:56:54):
There is a tourism website called Visit Austin. It told
their local news station KXA that revenue is already thirteen
percent higher than it was a year ago. By the way,
Austin's airport is small. It's bracing for a potential record
forty four thousand departures on Monday. I wonder if there'll
be some delays. By the way, you put a mixture

(01:57:17):
of football fans and racing spectators, that might make for
an interesting combination Saturday night around Austin, which has a
pretty lively night life scene. A gentleman by the name
of Toby Atkins. He's the managing director of Austin. There's
a sports based travel company called bucket List Events. He
told front off of Sports quote, I'm sure the bars

(01:57:40):
downtown are going to be confused as all get out.
Bucket List Events sold out its allotment of one hundred
tickets to Georgia Texas at Texas eight months ago. They
don't sell F one packages. It was interesting. It's kind
of an opposite clientele. I don't know if there's a
lot of crossover in terms of those fan bases, but
it should be a hoot in Austin, Texas on Saturday.

(01:58:03):
See what I did there? All right, it's gonna do
for the Bernie Fraddles Show, Like I said, back on
these airwaves in just a few hours eleven pm Saturday night,
breaking down a very busy college football Saturday, looking forward
to an epic NFL Sunday, and we'll get into some
of the stories that we talk to tonight in more
depth on Saturday. So we will see you in in

(01:58:24):
the meantime. Keep it locked up next The Fellas on
Fox Sports Radio.
