Speaker 1 (00:01):
Don't listening.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
No Fox Sports Radio Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
We have the marathon tonight. We got the full four
hours for you. No cutting this thing short. Welcome in
to another busy night. I mean a sneaky good sports day, y'all.
I'm not trying to kind of shine something up that
doesn't deserve it, right. I mean, if I if this

(00:25):
thing was a dump today, if it was a dumpster
fire all day long, I'd come in here and just
complain what's going on with sports world? I had nothing
to talk about. What's Arnie's joke that he always has.
I was watching I was watching T and T all day.
I'd watching Law and Order all day. I thought, it's
a good sports day. We got a lot to talk about, y'all.
As we come to you live from the tire rack

(00:46):
dot Com studios ti rack dot com, we'll help you
get there at unmatched a selection, fast, free shipping, free
road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tire
rack dot com, Boom the Way tired by should be.
Mark's running the show. He's already heard that we're doing
the same show we did last night, Mark, So just
prepare yourself. I'm kidding. Shay's in charge, and Sega is

(01:10):
going to have updates at the top of the hour.
I'll get you caught up on things throughout the evening.
If there's anything that we miss, I got a guess
that's going to jump on with us in hour number four.
So if you're stuck with us all night, if you're
working late, if you've got I don't know, a road
trip that you're in the midst of, well we got
a busy show for you tonight. I want to start

(01:31):
with something that's probably not going to get a lot
of talk throughout the evening. You know, last night I
started the show talking about Lebron James, and I.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Quickly came to.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Realize that the NBA is just it's just not generating
the clicks or the energy that it typically would at
this time of the year. I don't know if it's
the continued growing, just absolute monster that is NFL football
when it comes to ratings and passion and at fantasy

(02:06):
into it and now the gambling aspect, I don't know
if that's it. I mean, I don't know if, like
me selfishly, if it's been hard for me to dive
into the NBA because I love college football and we
have our first twelve team college football playoff. I mean
we're less than a week away from the first round.
I mean next next Saturday night into a Sunday morning,

(02:27):
when when Bernie takes the air at one am Central Time,
we'll pretty much have the quarter final set. All four
games will be completed. So all that to say, I'm
just I'm not there yet with the NBA, and I
feel like, even talking about it, it's not quite there yet.
Now this comes from a guy who's in a market

(02:50):
where his NBA team is cooking right now and there's
a lot of passion and energy around it. But even
even to a certain degree, I don't think that energy
and care is at the zena that it typically is.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Maybe we are also.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Realizing that it's an eighty two game season, and maybe
the NBA isn't it starts at Christmas anymore?

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Right?

Speaker 1 (03:16):
It used to be everybody gets fired up about the
NBA around Christmas and you watch the Christmas games.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Well, now the NFL is playing games on Christmas.

Speaker 1 (03:24):
We mentioned the playoffs, and maybe the NBA is one
of those where we don't find ourselves getting too terribly
excited until we really start getting to the All Star breaker.
Even after whatever the case might be, I've never seen
a story.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
More of a dud than Lebron leaving the Lakers.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
I mean, this is a high profile star in the
league that's stepped away and nobody has an answer.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
Now.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Mark Menina was on last night with Jason Smith and
we played a little bit of that. Ain't brought the
left foot injury that's being talked about, but I mean
even JJ Reddick was short. So in answering questions about it,
my point in bringing that up is I'm going to
open with NBA tonight because we had two stellar games
and I thought both of them were very interesting and

(04:13):
very fun. But in the end, I don't know if
the NBA Cup is really doing for the NBA what
they thought it would, except maybe proving that Vegas needs
an NBA team. Those crowds were pretty good. Now, I
will say I'm a bit of an old. Okay, I'm
a bit of an old. But it is the lights

(04:35):
in the late game, it seemed like everyone had their
phone light on the whole time.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Is that a thing?

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Is this happening other places and I'm just missing it?
Or is it another one of these kind of gimmicky,
goofy things for the NBA Cup. I don't know, I
don't care, but I found myself digging it. So I
figured if I went ahead and started with it tonight,
if you don't care and you don't want to hear
NBA talk, then you'll be able to say, oh, yeah,
he's just it's going to give us some highlights and
then he'll be done with it, right playing give us

(05:03):
your highlights, then be done with it, and we can
move on to talk about things like the Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
But early on Game one, I felt like it was one.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Of those between the Bucks and the Hawks where it
just kind of took everyone a little bit of time
to get going, and once they did, man, kudos to Milwaukee.
I don't know what it is about the way they
play in the NBA Cup, but they are absolutely outstanding,
almost like it's a completely different team from Milwaukee than

(05:35):
what you see a majority of the season. And even
though even though Trey Young was doing things he hadn't
done all season long, it was it was impressive to
see everything come together for the Bucks, which it typically
does during this time of the year in the NBA Cup.

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Yeah, with forty seconds left.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Damian Lovelin's got is coming across me at fort keeping
going to the basket the seeds part than Litard's roles
at home. Damian Lullard finished the night with twenty five points.
Jannis had thirty two. In the end, the Bucks beat
the Hawks one ten, one oh two. Milwaukee had lost

(06:14):
twenty consecutive games when trailing entering the fourth quarter until today,
And I mean afterwards, as you might imagine, Janie's Janice's
message was very simple.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
We've changed our season in that round, but we've got
to keep going like the job's not done.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Job's not done so far, fifty.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Five games left, so we just got to keep playing
together and hopefully we can keep it getting better.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
Look at my guy, you knowing how many games they're left.
Sounds like me whenever we get to the final hour
of the show and I'm like, there's only thirty two
minutes left in the program. Now there's only thirty But
at the core of it, right at the core of this, hey,
good game, fun game.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Trey Young.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
I think the stat was he forced eleven fouls on him,
which was the most he had kind of forced all
season long. And we can debate about you know, maybe
a bit of a friendly whistle, whatever the case might be.
But at the core of this is a question does
the NBA cut matter to players?

Speaker 2 (07:13):
Does it really matter? Doesn't matter to fans?

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Am I wasting the first five minutes of this show
by talking about I Giannis?

Speaker 4 (07:20):
What matters is that you got to get the job done.
I think the conversation within the team is that nothing
matters only when stats don't matter. It doesn't add a
win or the last to our record. Nothing really matters
how many shots if you go aer full fifteen, you know,
if you go fifteen for fifteen, it doesn't matter. The
only thing that matters, Raje is to get a win.
And that's the message within our team right now. And

(07:42):
everybody got to stay locked in. Job's not done.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Yeah, job's not done. Say job's not done again, be honest.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Please. Meanwhile, in the nightcap, if you will, the Thunder
in the Rockets play the Doozy, and early on it
looked like it was going to be back and forth
all night long. Aaron Wiggins got things going early for
the Thunder.

Speaker 6 (08:01):
Hartenstein's top of the key hangling left gives to Mitchell,
Who's slips and then has the ball taken away from
him by Grimes, but he throws it away.

Speaker 7 (08:09):
Wiggins has it open right side angle three is.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
In there except saying a thunder moneyball.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Like I said, back and forth, fun game between Okac
and I almost wanted to say at Atlanta okay See
in Houston, But you gotta remember, okay See has be
overly dramatic here just a little bit. Okay See has
the best player I think he right now in Shay
Gilges Alexander, and they've put some dudes around him that

(08:37):
can make a difference in the paint.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Up the middle of.

Speaker 8 (08:40):
The dove, left wing, Joe catches your rainbow, Free is
up short Hartenstein, the rebound boys is.

Speaker 9 (08:45):
Why as the fucking the Thunder's down a big two
hand room rocker.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Oh isaay a Heartstein dop be so made all right,
settle down a little bit Thunder Radio Network okay c
ended up wuinning in one eleven to ninety six. You
can call it the Isaiah Hartenstein game, or just hey,
you make a lot of money. This is what you're
supposed to do right twenty one points eight boards as

(09:10):
OKAC continues to look like the best team in the
West and now now we're set up for a championship
on a random of random days, a Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
Hey guys, let's.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Have the semi finals on a Saturday, which I thought
was cool. Right, they got the I don't know if
Semya was on ABC is still a big deal, but
they got the ABC coverage, They got a great crowd
in Vegas. It was fun to watch all day long.
But welcome to the Night of champions which is Tuesday.
Now you're kind of caught a little bit because, right,

(09:47):
you can't you can't mess with the schedule. You're still
in the middle of the regular season. But in the end,
I had fun. I thoroughly enjoyed the NBA Cup. And
this is coming from somebody who has been very slow.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
To dive into the NBA season.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Now, as we come to you live Fromthtirack dot Com
Studios tonight, I am very well aware that the tweets
and the calls at eight seven, seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six sixty three sixty
nine probably won't be going in depth on Lebron's mystery
exit from the Lakers for a minute, and what happened
in the NBA Cup or the excitement over somebody hanging

(10:28):
a banner Tuesday Night between the Thunder and the Bucks.
I truly think that most of the conversation tonight will
center around football, and I'm fine with that. So we
add a lot of football to get to a lot
of gridiron to get to on the program because we're
entering crunch time, we're entering the home stretch of the NFL,

(10:48):
and in Vegas, the elegant tank continues. We'll talk about
Max Crosby being out for the season. In Dallas, the
heartache and heartbreak continues because now Trayvon Diggs is out
for the year. So you just keep adding. I mean
that sideline for the Cowboys is kind of look like
a mash unit. First you lose Dak and now you've

(11:12):
got Trayvon Digs out of other injuries.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
They've been dealing with.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
It's a mess for the Dallas Cowboys. But at the
core of today, in leading up to I'm sure some
of you that had good fantasy teams, you're trying to
figure out who's in and out. You're trying to figure
out who's going to play. We got those notes coming
up in a bit, But I think this might be
the best afternoon slate of games we've had in the

(11:38):
NFL this year.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Now.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
My research consisted of looking at the last few weeks and.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Just saying, yeah, I think this is it.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
But typically in the NFL, you get a boatload of
early games that you just can't miss. Then you get
to the Witching hour and everyone's in heaven, and then
you take a nap at the start of the afternoon games, right,
and there's usually not a lot of options.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
Well, got a few more options this week.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Just about every game in the afternoon slate has some
sort of playoff implication to it. And I'll be honest,
last week, Arnie and I were doing our Sunday night
show here on Fox Sports Radio, and I kind of
ended the race in the AFC for that seventh and
final wild card spot because the Broncos are currently eight

(12:25):
and five, and I don't know if the Colts are
going to make a run.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
I sure don't think the Dolphins are going to make
he run. But you suddenly look at that.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Colts schedule and one of our Texters slash tweeters brought
this up. If Indianapolis beats Denver today, this is the
final three games for the Colts versus the Titans, at
the Giants and versus the Jaguars. If Indianapolis finds a

(12:56):
way to win today over Denver, they can easily win out.
That can be a ten and seven season. Now, this
is the same Colts team that has already lost this
year in the Jaguars and has been known to lay
a few eggs, but they also have some impressive wins
this season. They beat the Bears earlier this year and

(13:18):
a fairly dominating fashion, just barely squeaked by the Patriots
and the Jets the last few weeks. I'm not trying
to sell you all. The Colts beat a playoff team, Okay.
My point is you suddenly get a win in a
game like that this afternoon in the least talked about
probably of the afternoon games, and the next thing you know,
you look up and my gosh, the Colts are ten

(13:38):
and seven. It's possible. You got the Builds and the
Lions in Detroit, and apparently Detroit's defensive line is getting healthy.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
More on that later.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
You've got the Steelers traveling to Philadelphia to take on
the Eagles in what has been one of the more
compelling storylines all week long. We lived it last night
and I even missed a few things last night. We
relived it. The Eagles AJ Brown versus Jalen Hurd, AJ
Brown even coming out and saying, no, no, we're good, fam,
We're good. That's three games in the afternoon session that

(14:15):
have implications, and then and then the Chargers host the
Buccaneers Los Angeles, trying to cement its spot in the playoffs.
In what has been I mean everything that Charger fans
and I think NFL fans anticipated it being. In the
first year of Jim Harbaugh with Justin Herbert, it's been outstanding.

(14:36):
I mean, sucks if you're a fan of the AFC West,
but Jim Harbaugh has done what we expected Jim Harbaugh
to do.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
He's been awesome.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
And don't look now, but the NFC South is still
very wide open, and the Bucks are right there with
the game lead over everybody. I mean, you kind of
feel bad for the Cardinals and the Patriots who are
shoehorn in the middle of this.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
But you've got four of the five games.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
First of all, when's the last time we had five
afternoon games that have playoff implications? And then you slide
into a Sunday night game between the Packers and the Seahawks.
That's awesome. My advice to everybody after the show is
over today, get your nap in, get your Honey news done,
because the afternoon slate is outstanding. We'll get you the
injury updates what Adam Schefter and Ian Rappaport are reporting

(15:24):
coming up next. But before we grabbed our initial time
out of the show tonight, I have a Heisman vote.
I take it very seriously, and I think I think
I made a mistake in my Heisman vote, and I
just want to be an open an open book. I
overstudy on this stuff. I overanalyze it. And I didn't
have Travis Hunter on my ballot. And it wasn't anything

(15:47):
negative against Travis Hunter. He was my fourth pick. I
just felt like Shador Sanders was more important to Colorado
than Travis Hunter was.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
That doesn't mean this.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Has been a There is just a terrible and I
do mean terrible back and forth on Twitter because for
some reason, everyone that thought Travis Hunter didn't deserve to
win the Heisman now suddenly starts taking shots at him. Yeah,
he absolutely deserved to win the Heisman. Okay, it's just

(16:24):
It's not a matter of fighting about whether or not
he is good. He is outstanding, he is special. But
I didn't have him on my ballot, and I had
Ashton gent as my number one pick.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
I just felt like.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
What he did this year, And call me crazy, but
I do think wins and losses matter, right, I do
think that matters. And on a team that had a
terrible defense and really not the most explosive offense, Ashton
Genty was the one guy for the Boys. He stayed on,

(17:01):
he was in and he's still what he's gonna set.
I think we'll see what happens in a couple of
weeks when Boys he's in the playoffs. But he might
set Barry Sanders single season Well it's not Barry Sanders
single season rushing record anymore. It's it's Pumpfrey's out of
sanegal state. But I just I don't, I don't really know.

(17:25):
I guess I guess Pumphrey's the career leader overall because
that was a big fight, right because they ended up
adding the Bowl game yardage and they had never done
that with Barry Sanders. But he's gonna he's probably gonna
surpass the single season record right, the Barry holds. But
in the end, I just I don't. I don't really
know how you cannot look at that and say that

(17:49):
he wasn't more important to his team's success than Travis Hunter. Right,
And that was my that was my selling point. But
I went back and I dug a little bit deeper
and just you know the why? What is the Heisman Trophy?
Is it the most valuable player? Is the most important player?
It's the most outstanding player? Is it the most popular player?
You know, it's all these things, And at the core

(18:12):
of it, I don't think anyone really sits down and
says this is what it is, this is what you're
supposed to vote for. It's kind of open to an interpretation.
So I want to get into that a little bit
later on. Maybe you can help me out because I
feel like I made a mistake. But at a seven
seven ninety nine on Fox, I can't dismiss Travis Hunter
based on what he did. And we're gonna hear his

(18:34):
acceptance speech. He was awesome.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
I got the biggest kick out of him. He doesn't.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
I haven't really heard him do A ton of media
doesn't seem like he does or at least all the
viral stuff out of Colorado seems to come from coach
Prime and his words.

Speaker 10 (18:49):
But I.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
Thought Gent should have been the guy. I thought Gent
should have been the guy. But I absolutely think Travis
Hunter is deserving. We'll dive into that coming up in
about forty minutes from now. As always, we got a
crew helping us out. Shay's taking your calls at eight
seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine
ninety six sixty three six ' nine. Mark's got his

(19:12):
finger on the dumb button in case I drop a
bomb tonight. We'll be ready to protect your ears. And
we got a very very busy, topic laden program. I
have him to touch on. A fun night of college basketball.
Tennessee goes on the road, beats Illinois in a buzzer beater.
Yukon seems to have its groove back after an embarrassing
start to the season. College basketball is infinitely more entertaining

(19:32):
than the NBA right now, but it has that same
problem that the NBA does in that, oh, we're not
even in conference play yet, so we'll touch on that
a little bit. We've got so many interesting college football
notes beyond just the Army Navy game today in which
Navy smoked Army. I mean just flat out smoked them.
So we'll talk about that coming up, plus plus before

(19:52):
we get out of here, a little.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
History in women's basketball.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
It's all coming up on a busy Sunday morning, Fox
Sports Radio. But when we come back, let's find out
who's in, who's out, who's playing, who's not. I know
some of you guys have your fantasy football playoffs that
you care about. I couldn't care less about it, but
I am intrigued about the potential of a couple of
backs getting healthy in time for big games. We'll dive

(20:17):
into that next right here on the Bernie Fratto Show.
Don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio. Mark, you gotta
be careful tonight. I just don't want to warn you.
I spend my son's in the Army. Well, he goes
to West Point, and he told me he's because he
actually replied to a text one time. Will once, but

(20:42):
he texted and he's like, I just got interviewed by Newsmax,
and I'm not gonna lie. I'm not a news guy,
so I don't know what news max is, and so
I devyarred it today because I was like, oh, why not,
he's gonna watch the game. Maybe I'm not gonna sit
and watch the news when the games are on, right Mark,
you don't want to do that missing it. So I
watched this uh Newsmax thing on DVR. Boy, they really,

(21:08):
they really spent a lot of time talking about drones, man,
and I'm not gonna lie to you. It kind of
sucked me in there for a little bit, and then
I quickly went to Twitter and I was over it
rather quickly because everyone's got a theory on.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
This big topic.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
If I happen to fall into drone conversations, which by
the way, I have a drone story up in front
of me, there's a commercial on TV about the Fusion
Academy with a girl playing with the drone. I don't
know what's happening right now, but if it happens, just
just hit the dumb button and we'll move on.

Speaker 2 (21:33):
Got it. It's easy, It's easy.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
And before we get to the phones at eight seven
seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine ninety
six sixty three, sixth Night, hanging their Gunny hanging there,
Jason and Baton Rouge eight seven.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
Seven ninety nine on Fox. We'll get to you as well.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
I did want to get everyone updated on the latest
injury updates for week fifteen. Here we go. Adam Schefter
got in first, so I'll roll through his and then
we'll sprinkle in a little. Ian Rappaport reports the Chiefs
are expected to have Harrison Butker back. They released Matthew Wright,

(22:11):
the NFL Special Teams Player of the Week on Wednesday. Released. Meanwhile,
speaking of the Chiefs, left tackle DJ Humphries, who took
over as the chief starting left tackle last week, has
been downgraded to out for Sunday's game, today's game if
you will, against the Browns, due to a hamstring injury.

(22:34):
And I'm telling you, I'm a firm believer the Chiefs
are going to the Super Bowl. I think they're gonna
win the Super Bowl. I think they're gonna.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Get beat today. I don't know. I just for something.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
There is something about just Jamis letting it rip, and
I have a feeling that they're just gonna let it rip. Meanwhile,
if you have a Roshawn Johnson on your fantasy team,
the Bears running back is out for the Monday night
game already against the Vikings. And DeAndre Swift still listed

(23:06):
as questionable in the most recent update. Most recent injury update,
the Cowboys did indeed announce that Trayvon Diggs will not
be traveling with the team to Charlotte. He's not going
to play. Downgraded due to a knee injury. Some feel
as if it could be season ending as well. The
Raiders ended Max Crosby season. He was already ruled out

(23:27):
early in the day from Monday night's game. Remember we
got a Monday night double aadder. He was ruled out
for the Monday night doubleheader. The Raiders aren't playing a
double header for the Monday night game against the Falcons.
But he's going to go ahead and undergo arthroscoptic ankle
surgery so the elegant tank can continue for the Raiders
so far this season and the clown that I am.

(23:49):
I will sit in front of my TV, probably have
a cold libation next to me, and I'll watch the
Raiders and I'll believe in my heart of hearts that
they're going to win. When they get beat, I'm gonna
be pissed. It just doesn't make any sense, man, It's
like that's my It makes no sense. Leaviscus Channel and

(24:10):
Eric Tomlinson have been activated by the Chargers. They had
to place a Jalen Rager, who I completely forgot to
use even on the Chargers, on injury reserve. The Lions
have elevated Jamal Adams from their practice squad to the
active roster for their key gang today against the Bills Saints.
It's gonna be Jay Hayner time. In New Orleans, they

(24:31):
downgraded Derek Carr to out. More on the future quarterback
situation in places like New Orleans, Seattle, and Los Angeles
coming up in a bit, The Cardinals place their running
back Mari Demarcado on injured reserve. He's out. The Jets
will be without DJ Reed and Xavier Newman for their
game against Jacksonville. And I think that's about it. Oh.

(24:55):
A couple of others, David and Joki, who has been
a rollercoaster of a ride man in productivity this year
for the Cleveland Browns. David and Joku questionable with a hamstring.
He's gonna work out, pregame to se if he's able
to go, And according to sources within Cleveland, Adam Schefter
reported a couple of hours ago it is a game

(25:17):
time decision. Now that game is that game is in
Kansas City, right, No, No, that game is in Cleveland. If
you're worried about weather and things of that nature, it's
actually gonna be pretty nice in Cleveland tomorrow, not gonna
be in the twenties, not gonna have wind chills in
the twelves.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
As it stands right now, it looks like it's gonna
be pleasant weatherwise.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
So if you're worried about that playing a factor, and
if in Djoku can get worked out, get ready to go,
then it looks like again And I don't know how
accurate everyone thinks that you know weather dot com is,
but according to my weather dot com at there's some
rain rolling through right now.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
It's going to roll through through the overnight.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
But after that rain gets through, it's supposed to be
in like the forties without a ton of win. But
I just really, I really had to take feeling good
about the weather, and then you dive a little deeper
into the forecast, like maybe not in Cleveland tomorrow, maybe
not that high is only forty four and the rain

(26:28):
is gonna push into kickoff. They expect a quarter of
an inch, not a ton of Wind. Maybe that's not
good news about it? And Joe who playing after all.
Colts wide receiver Josh Down's questionable has his shoulder injury
that he's dealing with, And I guess maybe the two
more intriguing names are the running backs. Jets running back

(26:48):
Breese hall Listen is questionable for today's game against the Jaguars,
but is expected to play, according to a source. This
is all reported by Adam Schefter, who has been listed
as questionable for the Titans, is expected to play. Get
this stat, Tony Polar needs sixty three more rushing yards

(27:09):
for his third straight thousand.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
Yard rushing season. Peeps, I know I'm getting old.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
I get it, I understand it, but man, there was
a time when a thousand yard rushing season you were
the b's and knees man. That was big time. Now
it's kind of like, do you guys see the math
on that? And what a thousand yard rushing season mint?
Even even in a sixteen game season. He's like that,
you're not even average a hundred yards a game. Bucky Irvian,

(27:37):
Buccaneers running back listened to his questionable he's got backing
hip injuries. Bucks wide receiver Sterling Shepherd is listed as
questionable he's got a foot injury. And then one other
note from Adam Schefter on breaking news tonight, because we
actually have a little bit. The Jets, as they get
set for their game against the Jaguars, have already started

(27:58):
the process of interviewing candidates for their new general manager
are their open general manager's job, and those expected to
interview include former Titans general manager John Robinson and ESP
and analyst Lewis Ridick. Now again, I love Lewis Ridick.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
I love him.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
I don't know what in his background would lead anyone
to think that it's going to be automatic. He spent time,
at least Riddick spent time in front offices like John
Lynch spent zero time and has been, I think, up
until this season, an absolute home run with the San

(28:40):
Francisco forty nine ers as their GM higher at least
with Riddick. He spent thirteen years in NFL front office
roles from Washington to Philadelphia. He was a pro personnel
department leader for both of those teams, and he also
interviewed for GM openings in twenty twenty with the.

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Lions and the Texans.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
So at the very least, at the very least, Lewis
Rittick has some experience in that area, but maybe there's
a better reputation for him. He just decided to go
do TV. Better reputation for him in personnel departments, and
decided to go TV to make a little money, right,
make it a little bit easier. But those are some

(29:21):
of the notes that we've been following tonight. I'll tell
you what, there is nothing that triggers me more than
when people try to use the Atlanta Falcons worried about
the role that Bill Belichick was going to play because
their personnel department was, I don't know, wary of him. Really, Atlanta,
you're gonna sit there and be the people that say, well,

(29:42):
you know, we didn't want Bill Belichick here. But we
do have a story involving Bill Belichick and the Jets
tonight that I think is at least worth our time.
I don't know whether or not I'm buying into it
one hundred percent, but it's at least worth our time.
So there's the news notes in tidbits that are making
headlines as we get set for Week fifteen in the NFL.
All right, before we wrap up this segment. I want

(30:03):
to get a couple of your calls in here. A
lot of NFL talk tonight, a lot of Heisman Trophy
talk at eight seven seven ninety nine one Fox eight
seven seven nine ninety six six three six nine. Let's
see if we can't get Gunny in here to get
things going on the right track. I mean, what could
possibly go wrong? Good morning, Gunny? What's going on?

Speaker 2 (30:21):
Dude? You good?

Speaker 11 (30:26):
Oh?

Speaker 12 (30:27):
Yeah, yeah, I'm always good.

Speaker 2 (30:29):
You gotta be careful with that, Gunny.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
I mean in hil too hard and you're gonna find
yourself passing out. Man, you gotta be careful this late tonight.

Speaker 12 (30:37):
I'm a for twenty warrior.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
So what's on your mind? You want to talk some Heisman.

Speaker 12 (30:46):
Asking Genty? I'm sorry, but I I agree the guys
in plays both sides of the ball should get the
per sae if he played if if he played it

(31:06):
Boise Shake and Gent played the Colorado, do you think
Colorado would make the playoffs?

Speaker 1 (31:15):
And oh jeez gosh, I wish I was on your level.
We could have a hell of a high conversation about
this right now. So, in other words, if Gent was
on Colorado, are you flop say, Travis Hunter to Boise, right.

Speaker 12 (31:32):
Would Boise make the playoffs with Hunter being No, No, exactly,
I don't think so.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
Now again, it's a little different schedule.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
He's he is the rock star of rock stars in
that schedule more so than he is in Colorado. The
level of competition they're playing Boise, I think Travis would
elevate himself even more.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
But with that said, I mean, I guess I'm also
saying to.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
Myself, would gent be less effective in a power for
conference week in week out?

Speaker 12 (32:04):
I'm the Puerto Rican rock star who the hell knows
where Porter, Oklahoma is?

Speaker 1 (32:10):
That's right, well he said, he said Porter rock star,
Just so we're clear, right, So one more thing did
on that and Gunny, and then I'll let you get
back to your enjoyment for the evening. Don't you think
we need to get back to the point where with
the voting they let five or six guys go. I
would have loved to learn more when you see that
camp Scattabo and the old rules would have been there,

(32:31):
I'd love to learn more about that dude from Arizona State.

Speaker 10 (32:34):
SAT would have probably wanted. I mean, but.

Speaker 12 (32:40):
Like I said, if the whole Dell was Genty and.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
Hunter.

Speaker 12 (32:46):
Yeah, Hunter was swapped. Do you think you know what
I mean?

Speaker 1 (32:53):
I'm following it. Hey, Gunny, good to hear your voice. Man,
have a great rest of your night. Gunny was on
one tonight. He's fired up up. If you flop Hunter
for Genty, you put Hunter on Boise State, is Boise
stayed in the playoffs right now? I think it's a
fair question. It's also one of those that I was
like all over the place. I'm like, well, if you
put Genty on Georgia, you know, is he doing this

(33:15):
same thing? And is it you know, it's a wild
game that you can play. I also think Gunny was
feeling it, very envious of that. All right, Before we break,
Jason and Baton Rouge wants to talk a little bit
about the Giants and the Ravens if he was able
to hang through that. Good morning, Jason, what's going on?

Speaker 11 (33:31):
Man?

Speaker 13 (33:32):
Two quick things for you since you brought up Belichick.
But first, yeah, that Giants Ravens game. Seventeen point underdogs?
The Giants, do you know the last team in the
NFL that was a seventeen point underdog and they won
the game outright?

Speaker 1 (33:53):
Okay, Okay, well, hold on, don't tell me, don't tell
don't tell me, don't tell me.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
The Raiders on Christmas Day?

Speaker 1 (33:58):
Right?

Speaker 12 (34:00):
Oh?

Speaker 13 (34:00):
Oh it was. It was the debut of and he
was a rookie Josh Superman Alan. He put the Cape
on at Minnesota and they won as seventeen point underdog.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Did not know that?

Speaker 2 (34:20):
Did not know?

Speaker 1 (34:20):
Yes?

Speaker 10 (34:21):
Yes.

Speaker 13 (34:22):
The one thing about Belichick, just real quick, isn't it hilarious?
How he was too successful that everybody's scared of him
in the NFL.

Speaker 14 (34:34):
They won't hire him, they're.

Speaker 15 (34:36):
Intimidated by him when he walks in the door. He
was too successful. Atlanta wouldn't hire him, and all these
other teams they're afraid of him.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
You got one hundred percent right, And I don't think
I've heard many people. Everyone wants to try to say, well,
they didn't bring him in because look how terrible things
ended up with the Patriots and the personnel decisions and
the draft picks. But at the TI they realize, yeah,
he's gonna come in here and he's.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
Gonna take our job.

Speaker 11 (35:02):
You know.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
That's that's and probably again Atlanta of all the people
on their like bully pulpit thinking they're making the great
decisions Atlanta. I mean, you just paid two hundred million
dollars for a quarterback and the best quarterback is the
guy that you took in the top ten in the
draft after you just signed this guy.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
Me.

Speaker 1 (35:18):
Come on, So those people trying to stand on and
clutch their pearls over it, say, yeah, we didn't want
him to have power really, because you're crushing it with
your power anyway, I agree with the nine percent, is
what I'm saying. Oh no, my bad, I might have
dropped you there. Thanks for the phone call, Jason with
the stat of the night. If I could steal something

(35:38):
from Dan Patrick here stat of the night. The last
time a team won as a seventeen point or more
underdog outright was Josh Allen's debut with the Bills. Jay,
I might have to fact check you on that. Oh,
we do have to break all right eight seven seven
ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six

(35:59):
sixty three six nine. And for Bernie Fratto, I'm Chris Plank.
When we come back. What do we do with that
information that we learned tonight about Bill Belichick that allegedly
he had reached out to the Jets, and they said,
we're good. We'll talk about it next on Fox Sports Radio.
Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in
the nation. Catch all of our shows at foxsports Radio

(36:19):
dot com and within the iHeartRadio app search FSR to
listen live. I haven't done a good job tonight, guys
in bringing the crew, and of course you've all been busy.
Good morning, Shay, how are you you ready to Well?
I say, it's still good evening on the West coast, right.

Speaker 7 (36:37):
Yeah, it's eleven fifty one than you folks.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
Yeah, you're getting there. Are you someone that whenever it's
midnight you start saying good morning?

Speaker 7 (36:45):
Oh not at all. I've got it all. Once the
sun comes out, it's good morning for me.

Speaker 1 (36:49):
Okay, all right, fair enough, fair enough, I'm listen. There's
no rules here. Mark Ramsey's back running the show tonight.
He is the weekend warrior of the overnights. Mark. I
still think the most docking thing we learned last night
was that Brianna had never seen nor had heard of
Animal House.

Speaker 16 (37:05):
It was a sad, sad moment, Oh my god, all
of history. It was to admit and to say I
have not seen.

Speaker 7 (37:15):
That was just very sad.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
Have you seen Animal House before?

Speaker 7 (37:19):
I've seen it. I've seen it.

Speaker 1 (37:21):
I just want to make say it was it over
when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. Germans in bomb Pearl
Harbor on the roll, all right, we got a story
that I wanted to get your guys take on. I'm
going to read this report verbatim.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Uh, this is now. I want to be.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
Clear, I'm not necessarily questioning whether or not this happened,
because the first report that I saw was from Diana
Rossini of The Athletic, and then Rich Samini reported it.
I think there were others that had it across the
NFL world. I don't think I've seen anything like We're

(37:58):
Rappaport or Adam Schefter had it.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
But I don't need that.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
But Bill Belichick apparently made a call to the Jets
before taking the head coaching job in North Carolina. Right,
I'm going to read this report. The Athletic first reported
that Belichick's camp had contacted the Jets, with a New

(38:22):
York Post reporting that Belichick himself made the inquiry. There
were no formal discussions with the Jets, who fired Robert
Sally on October seventh, a source close to Belichick expressed
serious doubt about whether he had genuine interest, suggesting it
might simply have been due diligence. More, for years, Belichick

(38:46):
has expressed disdain for the Jets, so a reunion.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
Never was a realistic possibility.

Speaker 1 (38:52):
Wait, so, se if he did, why do he call?
I mean, I mean what my head exploded when I
saw that. It's like, wait, so he called and inquired
about the Jets? That's right?

Speaker 2 (39:09):
Did he have interest in the job?

Speaker 10 (39:10):
Nah?

Speaker 2 (39:11):
But what I mean, he wasn't calling to try to
hype someone up.

Speaker 7 (39:14):
He's just like that old guy that like sticks his
like I got Thanksgiving, like your grandma, just walks up
to your like friends and like cousins and just like
kind of looks at you and he's like, all right,
but you.

Speaker 1 (39:24):
Guys, do you guys? Uh? What's the line from Dumb
and Dumber big gulps? Huh just kind of sitting there
poking their nose.

Speaker 7 (39:31):
Yeah, exactly, Like that's what that is.

Speaker 1 (39:33):
I've never been more perplexed by the reporting around something
in my life. Dinaver seeing how about this for a
plot twist? Bill Belichick reached out to the Jets about
their head coaching vacancy. Wow, but then you read a
little deeper. Yeah, he's never gonna take it. It's quakes.
I think I'm very perplexed right now. I think I'm

(39:55):
very confused.

Speaker 7 (39:55):
You're not the only one.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
All right, Well, I'll say this much. I'm a fan
of what Bill bell Belichick is doing. I think it's
going to be awesome to see him coach in the
college game, and I think we could be in for
a very sweet Bill Belichick FU two or to everyone
who went in another direction with the head coach, We're
talking Heisman Trophy next on Fox Sports Radio. Oh and
the Crew, and the Crew. The Sager's got updates the

(40:18):
top of the hour. Mark's running the program, Chase, keeping
us on the rails. Even though Gunny tried to get
me fired earlier. It's okay, Gunny, I still love you.
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven
nine ninety six six three sixty nine. I want to
carve out some time for the Heisman and a Heisman
conversation because tonight Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy worthy winner.

(40:41):
In my mind, I didn't have him on my ballot.
I want to explain why coming up here in just
a bit. But I'll also add we've been sitting here
and it's two am Central time, three am on the
East Coast. Not a lot of live programming out there,
definitely not in the TV world. So I was watching
the reair of the Heisman ceremony during the first hour,

(41:04):
does she have a very unpopular opinion? And I'm just
gonna say this, and I'm gonna go to the phones.
I don't think there's a more awkward thing in TV
than the Heisman Trophy ceremony. I just think from start
to finish, it's kind of cringe and I hate that
because I love the Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 2 (41:21):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
We turn it into this TV show and got talked
to family, and family's never comfortable being on TV. And
then you don't no one really knows when they're supposed
to turn someone's mics on and off, and like Travis
Hunter's mom is talking while he's talking. It's just I
don't know. Then you always get a former player up
there there, blessed the old Man's heart that makes the announcement.

(41:46):
He's awesome, but still it's just I don't know, man,
It's like it's one of the most uncomfortable things there is.
It's like, oh gosh, do I have to listen to
another interview with Andre Ware? What are we doing right now? Hey,
at least Chris Fowler was there to say today. Thought
he was pretty good. But he hand up Heisman fan
hand up, proud Heisman voter hand up. I think the

(42:11):
ceremony is just so awkward, and I don't know how
you make it smoother. I really don't, because you want
to celebrate him, but I almost, you know, I almost
feel like that you just gotta we got to quit
trying to make everything red carpet.

Speaker 2 (42:27):
I mean we're even doing it.

Speaker 1 (42:28):
We're doing it for the freaking NBA cop and I
blame the NFL.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
Maybe I blame Taylor Swift.

Speaker 1 (42:36):
Because now we've got everyone's entrance into the building. I mean, hell,
wwe was even doing it tonight on Saturday Night's made event.
I get everyone's intro to the building. But yeah, it's
a rough watch for me. I understand, I'm alone. I'm
not trying to bring people to my side. I just
want to let you know, if you're somebody that when

(42:58):
you watch the Heisman Trophy ceremony, like saying zawkward as hell.
You got a spirit animal here, I got your back,
all right?

Speaker 2 (43:05):
Eight seven, seven ninety nine on fix am I wrong?

Speaker 1 (43:07):
By the way, if you guys want to push back
hard Shay, let me know, because if you're a fan
of this and I'm misrepresenting the excitement of the Heisman
Trophy ceremony, please call me out.

Speaker 7 (43:17):
No, no, you're honestly, it's the most cringey. It it's cringey.

Speaker 1 (43:20):
It's just it's a cringe. It might be a better word.
By the way, my favorite thing that I've ever been
told by an athlete.

Speaker 3 (43:26):
D D.

Speaker 2 (43:27):
Westbrook was a Heisman finalist in try to do this.

Speaker 1 (43:30):
Going backwards, I want to say seventeen, I'm gonna say
twenty seventeen. He was a Heisman finalist. This was before
they made the rule where they'll only take four people.
I think like seven people went to the Heisman final
finals that year and D. D.

Speaker 2 (43:46):
Westbrook was one of them.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
And I remember asking the former Sooner now former Viking
form NFL guy, like, hey, dude, what was the Heisman ceremony?
Like what was that week? Like he was I would
encourage everyone to try to do it. I'm like dear
what he's like be in the mix for the Heisman.
It's like, I mean, duh, of course, He's like, no, Man,
you don't understand. It's almost like you have twenty four

(44:11):
to seven made valet server.

Speaker 2 (44:13):
They take care of you. Everyone's got to experience this.

Speaker 1 (44:16):
So Shay Mark, if you guys ever want to have
a great experience, make sure you're a candidate for the
Heisman Trophy. That's what Dede Westbrook told me two nights
in a row. Look at this Manuel hooking me up.
Let's go to the phone tod eight seven seven ninety
nine on Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six six
three six nine Heisman Trophy talking a moment, Manuel and Guardia.

Speaker 2 (44:36):
What's going on? Man?

Speaker 3 (44:36):
How are you first off? Man Plank? Hey, you're hooking
me up. Man, You're blessing all of the Fox Sports
Radio Nation.

Speaker 13 (44:44):
Let's never you're on man.

Speaker 3 (44:47):
Everything is copa setti, you know what I mean?

Speaker 10 (44:49):
Pretty sports talk world.

Speaker 3 (44:51):
So real quick and good job by Shay, goodbye bye,
a good job by everybody.

Speaker 2 (44:58):
March on board.

Speaker 3 (44:59):
There gotch we got man Mark big Mark. Yeah, so
look real quick on the Heisman because I really called
about the belt chick thing. But the heisman, going back
to what you said about your vote or whatever, you
kind of felt bad. You shouldn't because, first off, it's
an objective thing. You've obviously done your research, you know

(45:22):
what I mean, and judging by the Peanut Forum of
x like, you're probably onto something. So I mean, hey man,
sometimes nothing is cut and dried, especially in sports. You know,
there's a lot of blurred stuff. So hey man, kudos
to the young man Travis Hunter. And if that other
guy is truly you know, exceptional, then he'll be doing

(45:45):
it on.

Speaker 2 (45:46):
Sunday, right, That's right, and he will be he will.

Speaker 17 (45:48):
Be right on.

Speaker 3 (45:50):
So that being said, I'm challenging you one thing, Plank.
You're in Oklahoma and I could smell the bulls squat
from here that's coming out at New York City? Are
you kiddying me? Dude? First off, mister Woodrow Johnson aka

(46:10):
Woody Johnson, not a porn star, but a NFL owner,
for God's sakes, Johnson and Johnson, you know, company money air.
This guy is trying to save face because look, man,
he's got egg all over his face from the way
he got hijacked by Aaron Frogers. And you know, now

(46:32):
this guy's at Camp by Yauasca, you know, eternally and
diminishing returns. This guy's floating around ducks over there like
Baiton Manning used to. So it's just a bad look.
So he's doing the old hey, don't look at that
look over here, and he's trying to say that bellet
Sheet reached out. Dude, you and I have heard bellet

(46:54):
Sheet smack this guy down left and right, you know,
backwards in four words, There's no way in hell Belichie
reached out. I think this is a sham. I think
that the New York Jets are trying to, you know,
come out and get some kind of a positive in
the fans eyes, where the fans could be like yeah

(47:15):
and Belichick, you know we said no to him, you
know when in reality, man, I don't think that ever happened.

Speaker 13 (47:22):
So that's just my take.

Speaker 3 (47:24):
Hey, Plank, you know I love you, man. Oh I
wanted to tell you Spaniard telling me man much pause.

Speaker 14 (47:31):
Man, I've been listening.

Speaker 3 (47:32):
To that guy since One on one Sports back in
ninety five. The guy is a fossil outro.

Speaker 2 (47:42):
If we mean that in a good way, you're going to.

Speaker 1 (47:48):
Artie. That's a good thing, I think, dude, I would
tell you. I would tell you something. I was looking
for a I was looking for a couple of tweets
for tonight's show, and there was a guy after the
show last week that was a big mad at me.
So you gotta pick on Ornie and b I'm like, bro,
do you listen to that show seriously? I mean, it's

(48:09):
three hours of all of us just getting ransacked. Hey, well,
I mean obviously I'm more of a fan than you are,
you know. And then someone pushes back and and I
mean I didn't even reply because I was just so agast.
I'm like, what are you listening to the same show. Yeah,

(48:29):
I'm gonna push back and fight with him. When he
talks about primetime games being three o'clock in the afternoon games,
that's not primetime. But yeah, I I assume that fossil
is a award of praise. Yeah, Okay, let me add
this to what Manuel said. Let me just add this
and then we'll get back to the phone.

Speaker 2 (48:49):
To an eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox.

Speaker 1 (48:51):
I would love to take a calls all night long,
because there's so many things worth talking about in debating.
But I'm having the hardest time believing this happened with
Bill Belichick. And that's my point, That's what I brought up. Dude.
These are respected and trusted NFL reporters, right, These are

(49:14):
people that I don't think would like Dove climb in
this thing. I don't think that they would. I don't
think they would cap and four h five this thing.
Two people got that that's all that matters. I feel
like they're trusted, They've got peeps, they've got sources that
talk to them. But man, I am old enough to

(49:35):
remember Bill Belichick going scorched freaking earth on the New
York Jets during a Manning cast after they had just
fired Robert Salah. I mean, I just find it very
hard to believe that he was so public in crushing

(49:56):
Woody Johnson in this decision that then is as soon
as he got done, Bill Belichick personally would pick up
the phone be like, what'd you guys got?

Speaker 2 (50:07):
Would you be interested? I'd love to.

Speaker 1 (50:08):
I just cannot buy hardest thing. I'm with you, Manuel,
I'm with you, but I gotta, I mean, I gotta
trust that what they're reporting is fact because they've I
feel like they've.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
Been pretty solid.

Speaker 1 (50:23):
Now sidebar to this again, I'm sidebarreing a lot just
to kind of cover my basis. I don't know what
the overall Jets fans opinion is on Rich Samani or
Diana Racini. I don't know if there's been some swings
and misses there in the past that you hold against him.

Speaker 2 (50:40):
No clue.

Speaker 1 (50:41):
I personally have had no reason to feel like they
would blow smoke up my backside. But I also have
no reason to believe that Bill Belichick would throttle Woody
Johnson on National TV the way that he did and
then pick up the phone a week later and be like,
hey man, you got a job. Just can't fathom that.
All right, back to the phones. Andre is in Massachusetts.

(51:04):
What's up, Andre, Welcome to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (51:08):
How you doing.

Speaker 6 (51:09):
Thanks for taking the call. Let's wanted to touch base. Comment
on Travis Hunters winning the Heisman Trophy and then his speech.

Speaker 14 (51:16):
In terms of the win.

Speaker 6 (51:18):
This is not even in the conversation I had him.
You know, if there was a unanimous award winner, I
would pick Travis hunter I just think what he's done.

Speaker 3 (51:25):
Both sides of the ball.

Speaker 6 (51:27):
Haven't seen it, you know, changing the paradigm. Will it
work in the NFL? Will he be able to do
the exact same thing.

Speaker 18 (51:33):
I don't know, but it's going to be a conversation
in the NFL.

Speaker 6 (51:36):
So for that and him deciding to go and take
the route that he did, obviously was committed to Florida State.
That was a great when he made the college decision.
That video was, you know, had allllle different hats on
and then decided to go to Jackson State. So I'm
just the person who he is, how he comports himself,
what we're seeing on the field, and then in the speech,

(51:57):
you know, just speaking from the heart, you know, and
making everybody, particularly his father who.

Speaker 3 (52:02):
Couldn't be there, you know, and just you know, I
did it for you.

Speaker 6 (52:04):
And I wanted to kind of represent you. I just
think it summarized. It's a great moment in a great
college football season with the college football playoffs expanding.

Speaker 3 (52:14):
So I was really encouraged.

Speaker 6 (52:17):
Unfortunate that Colorado couldn't be in the mixing of They
had some losses here and there, but Travis Hunter, I
just think he's a runaway star. He's going to what
we're seeing now in college I think it's going to
seamlessly transition, and it's another question of whether he'll be
able or how much he'll be able to impact the
game on both sides of the ball. Concluding point, his

(52:37):
coach who we shouted out, Deon Sanders. You know that's
the prototype, you know, And obviously Deon Sanders didn't play
whok around both sides of the ball, but he clearly
played two sports and was very successful. So within one
the framework of one sport, I think that Travis Hunter
can have equivalent success on both sides of the ball
and being a generational hall the same type of player.

Speaker 17 (52:58):
Thanks taking the call.

Speaker 1 (53:00):
I think there's still a chance he could go number
one in the draft, and the way I see it,
I just I feel like both the Raiders and the
Giants might back into a win, and I think there's
still a chance that the Jaguars could have the top pick.
And if you're Jacksonville and you have that top pick,
I don't think that you would pass on bringing a
guy like Travis Suner on board, right, even though you

(53:23):
might get a boatload of money from the team that
ends up three, if they really fall in love with
Shador cam Ward, right, or even I guess two wouldn't
really matter unless someone tries to jump in front of you.
I guess I'm pointing out. I don't disagree with you.
I think he's great. In fact, I even discovered it
more kind of as I tried to dig in as

(53:46):
deep as I could on the numbers, but I really
dug more into what the Heisman Trophy is supposed to be.
And I've been voted for thirteen years now, maybe fourteen
maybe fifteen years now, right, I take it very serious,
and I've always thought most valuable player. So I went
and dug a little bit more, a little deeper, and
I found this. It's pretty fraudo show. I'm Chris Blank,

(54:09):
sitting in Shan and Mark are running the show. We're
talking Heisman Trophy at eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six sixty three sixt' nine.
Coming up in a bit a couple of other college
football notes.

Speaker 2 (54:21):
What is the Heisman?

Speaker 1 (54:23):
This is a description of what the Heisman represents, according
to the Heisman Trust, the most outstanding player in college
football whose performance epitomizes great ability combined with diligence, perseverance,
and hard work. Now, I mean again, I think some

(54:45):
of these we have to assume, right, We have to
assume diligence, we have to believe in the perseverance, and
you'd have to think that if you got to this point,
you're a hard worker, right. But the most outstanding player
in college football I've always viewed it, and I think
that's where that's where some things are maybe a little

(55:08):
bit grey when it comes to how people vote for
the Heisman Trophy. It's kind of a choose your own adventure, right,
It's what you make of it. But the more and
more I thought about that today, Travis Hunter was the
most outstanding player in college football this year? Why because
he was able to do it on both sides of
the football I voted for I voted for gent Ashton

(55:30):
Gent He was number one on my ballot because I
just thought he was better in what he did than
what Travis Hunter was individually in either one of the
things that he did, but combined, right, what Travis Hunter
did was more impressive, I think, at least.

Speaker 2 (55:49):
In the eyes of all the other voters.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
Right. But like, for instance, this was making the round.
So this isn't necessarily original from me, but an impacted
me it made a difference for me. Voter Ashton Gent
was number one in the country in rushing attempts, rushing yards,
yards from scrimmage, rushing touchdowns, touchdowns from scrimmage, total touchdowns,

(56:12):
and total points. He was number three in the country
in rushing yards per attempt, and Boise States total offensive
numbers had them as the fourth best offense in all
of college football. Meanwhile, Travis Hunter, while it's impressive that
he was in like the top fifteen in each of

(56:36):
these positions, right, but he was sixth in receptions, fourteenth
in receiving yards, fourteenth in receiving yards per game, wasn't
in the top one hundred in yards per reception. He
was tied for eighth in receiving touchdowns. And then on
the other side of the ball, And I understand it's

(56:56):
a little bit skewed to look at interceptions, but he
was tied for twenty ninth interceptions on a team whose
overall passing defense was fifty third overall and a total
offense that was fifty six And again, maybe unfair ways
that I looked at it, but it's how.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
I viewed it.

Speaker 1 (57:13):
He had several games as a receiver where he didn't
even eclipse thirty year uplost several. He had won too
many games where he didn't eclipse thirty yards as a receiver.
I mean, you can have one bad game, but two
three catches for twenty six yards against Kansas State, two

(57:33):
for seventeen against Arizona, five for fifty five against Utah.
So I looked at that and I probably held that
against him a little bit too much. I still stand
behind Ashton gent being my vote, but I don't come
here as someone that's like Pleae Travis Owner. Look at
the snaps. No, No, He's worthy and at the core

(57:58):
of what the Heisman Trophy is supposed to be. He's
probably the most outstanding player in college football. But in
my mind, I don't think he was the most important
guy on Colorado's team. I thought it was Shador Sanders,
and I definitely thought that Ashton Genty deserved a little

(58:19):
bit more than he did.

Speaker 2 (58:21):
But he's a winner and we'll hear from him next.
When I say that the Heisman.

Speaker 1 (58:25):
Trophy ceremony is cringe and it makes me very uncomfortable.
I want to make this very clear. I'm not talking
about the guy's speeches. I think those are usually off awesome.
I think everything leading up to it like, oh my gosh,
just announced the freaking winner. Please get get all these
get all the old heads up there, bless their hearts,
let them make their announcements and tell me who won
the award, and then let's celebrate all their careers afterwards.

(58:47):
Oh all right, quick break, it's the Bertie Frattle Shaw.
I'm Chris Plake sitting in. We have more of your
calls coming up at eight seven seven ninety nine on
Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six six three six ' nine.
But before we die, into the best slate of afternoon
games that we've had in a while.

Speaker 2 (59:03):
Some keynotes.

Speaker 1 (59:04):
Let's hear Travis Hunters Heisman speech when we come back
right here on Fox Sports Radio. We're coming to you
live from the ti rack dot com studios. Ty rack
dot com will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard of protection in Over ten
thousand are recommended installers tire rack dot com. The way
tire buying should be. Bernie is out. My name is

(59:25):
Chris Plank sitting in. He typically catch me Sunday nights
with Arnie Spaniard here from ten p to one a
central time. And when I say I'm talking about my
Heisman vote, where maybe I made a mistake, I don't
really see that much of a difference between most outstanding
and most valuable.

Speaker 2 (59:44):
I think it's pretty much the same thing. But my
point was is.

Speaker 1 (59:51):
Maybe it's just outstanding that a guy was able to
do both at the level that Travis Hunter in obviously,
because I mean, he won the Heisman Trophy and was
one of the more lopsided favorites that we've had since
gambling on the Heisman Trophy became a thing, and then
it ended up being as close of a balloting as
we've had in quite a while, at least in total

(01:00:11):
overall votes, not really in first place votes. But I
just I kind of thought that in my world, most
outstanding and most valuable are pretty close. And I thought
Ashton Genty was more deserving, and I thought that Shirhor
Sanders was more important. It was more outstanding in what
he did. But like I said, if you pull back,

(01:00:31):
you look at the core of it, and you want
to say br but he's playing two positions and he's
doing both of them at an elite level. Then maybe
I swung a mist on the way that I looked
at it. But the amazing thing about it is just
how the one cool thing about the Heisman is it
is a little bit of an unknown. You can say
it's the most outstanding and everyone can have their own

(01:00:53):
different opinion, which is why you have so many voters.
You have nine hundred and twenty eight voters for this thing.
Every region they is represented, and it's cool to see. Now,
is there too mini voters?

Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
Maybe? Do you have a problem with Travis Hunter winning
the Heisman? No, I think it's awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:01:09):
I hate how to defend one point you have to
tear down something else. It's my least favorite thing in life.
I can sit here and give you all my numbers
why I voted for Ashton gent and why I thought
he deserved the Heisman, at least in my eyes, and
then also tell you why I think that Travis Hunter
deserved it because it was one heck of a fight.
And I'll tell you what, Cam Scattabo deserve to be there.

(01:01:33):
I don't think he's didn't go well for bryceon Daily Today,
but he deserved to be there. So I hope, I
hope the college ranks get back to allowing a few
more people at the heisman ceremony. All right, let's go
to the phones. We'll play Travis Huner time permitting later
in this segment, but I want to get to your
calls at eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox eight
seven seven nine ninety six, six three sixty nine.

Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
Tom is in South Carolina. What's going on?

Speaker 1 (01:01:54):
Tom?

Speaker 2 (01:01:54):
Welcome to Fox.

Speaker 18 (01:01:56):
Thank you, Chris. First off, first time ever listen to
your show. And I got to tell you, I agree
basically with everything you've been talking about. I've really enjoyed
listening to you this morning, everything like that, really seriously.
But no, I'm a I'm with you on uh, you know,
with with Ashton and everything like that. I think my
thing is, I believe that you brought it up earlier,

(01:02:22):
what is the actual definition? And I think everybody has
different opinions of what is the definition of the Heisman,
of who's winning the Heisman, of what they are looking
for and everything like that, And I guess I'm just
going to get right to the point I look at
it as And again I'm with you. You just said,
I don't think you know, you need to, you know,

(01:02:43):
tear down somebody else to get you know, lift somebody
else up. But I just look at it with Travis
Hunter playing both sides, really really big, really big. But
at the same time, if say Travis Hunter is not
on the team for any type of reason, an injury
or something like that, where are they in their record

(01:03:05):
and everything like that, It could be less than nine
and three, It could be a little bit more. But
Boise State, and look, I'm on the East Coast. I
don't get to watch a lot of West Coast games,
but I mean, Boise State at twelve and one, you
take ash out, are they twelve and one? Where are
they exactly? And I think that's just I think it
has to be in my opinion, whenever I think about

(01:03:28):
this stuff, if you take somebody out of a team
in college football and you're talking about the Heisman, that
shows if you take them out and they're not even
close to twelve and one, well then you know they're
obviously that person has helped them.

Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
Get to that point.

Speaker 18 (01:03:47):
That's really really huge. And again I'm not going to
sit here and say I know everything about Boise State,
because I truly don't, but I know about him. I've
seen his clips and stuff. So that's the way I
look at it with the Heisman trophy. I'm I was
being I was hoping that Aston would win it. But again,
two way player in inside this hunter. I get it,
you know. So, Yeah, understandable.

Speaker 1 (01:04:09):
Thanks for the call, man, I appreciate it. Thanks for
your patience too. I left him on hold a little
bit too long. He said so many nice things about me.
I feel terrible right now. That's my cousin ron out
in South Carolina who got paid off to come in
and say nice things about.

Speaker 7 (01:04:24):
How does that to say? Yeah, sounds like he knew you.

Speaker 1 (01:04:26):
Sound pretty good about myself. Right now, we need someone
to just dump all over me. Here, come on, all right,
let's get Oh look lookey. Here Poppy in San Diego. Now,
last time Poppy that I was in here, yeah, picks
were terrible. You were like Arnie. So I need you
to get things cooking today. Man, there's some value on
the board, right.

Speaker 14 (01:04:47):
Oh, of course we're gonna bounce back. I like that. Yeah,
of course we're gonna get value. Heck, you know, it's
really gonna be an interesting uh you know, a week
for the NFL where you are gonna got a lot
of value. One you can tell us the current line.
But I was gonna say, real quick, that's good that
Travis Hunner one. You know, like fime time fine time

(01:05:08):
hasn't happened a long time, so it's really good that
he won the Heisman.

Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
I'm not complaining about it.

Speaker 1 (01:05:14):
Yeah, I know you're right.

Speaker 14 (01:05:15):
So something different, you know, like you know when you
go to a restaurant and you always order the same thing,
a new flavor from the menu, it's always a good thing.

Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
I don't disagree with you, Poppy, I don't disagree with you.

Speaker 14 (01:05:30):
And yeah, let's tuck NFL. You know a lot of
good games. Can you tell us the line? I really
like the game on the Broncos Colts game.

Speaker 10 (01:05:38):
That's a really great game. You know.

Speaker 1 (01:05:40):
Let me see here. The updated number on Broncos Colts
is Denver minus four and a half. That's that's ESPN Bett.
Let me go scores in odds. Real quick, you realize
that if Indianapolis wins this game, Poppy, there is a
chance that they can finish the season ten and seven, Yeah,
four and a half.

Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
All across the board with an undred and forty four
and a half.

Speaker 1 (01:06:01):
By the way, this line opened with the Colts is
a two and a half point favorite, and I don't
know when that opening was, maybe in the off season.

Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
Now it's at four and a half for the Broncos.

Speaker 14 (01:06:11):
Well, you know, on this one, I really love the
Denver Broncos with a great coach. You should be coach
of the Year Sean Payton in my opinion, but hey,
I don't get a vote on that. But look, I
really love Vone Necks and everything the Denver Broncos are doing.
And it's going to be in mile High. So give
me minus four and a half. We're going to make
that bling bling bling on that game on the Broncos.

(01:06:32):
And I have another game if you want another, another poppy.

Speaker 1 (01:06:35):
I want all the picks, So give me one more game.
What else do you like in this weekend?

Speaker 14 (01:06:40):
One more I'm really liking on this canting you tell
me the Steelers and the Steelers against the Philadelphia Eagles.
I really love that matchup.

Speaker 1 (01:06:48):
Philly, Philly is at home, Philly's at home and leaking financial.
They are a five and a half point favorite right now.

Speaker 14 (01:06:54):
Wow, you know what, I'm going to have to go
take the Steelers because the Steelers have a great defense,
the offense with you know, you know, Jalen hurts against
a J. Brown, but there's a lot of trauma right
there in the locker room, and I really don't like that.
And you got Mike Tomlin with the defense that are
going to be stepping up. But what's they're unlimited?

Speaker 10 (01:07:14):
To me?

Speaker 14 (01:07:14):
The plus five and a half with the black and yellow.

Speaker 11 (01:07:17):
You like that?

Speaker 1 (01:07:18):
I like that one a lot. Poppy, you have a
great time today, man, I hope all your picks hit. Betally,
speaking of mister unlimited, I don't know how we're going
to have time for it, but at some point, maybe
next hour, in the midst of all the fun of
Week fifteen. Some of us are fans of teams that suck,
so we've already already started thinking about the off season,

(01:07:40):
and I think we could have a wild quarterback carousel
this offseason. And Russell Wilson is on a one year,
one point five million dollar deal with the Steelers and
he's been really good. Sam Donald, I mean, what are
the Minnesota Vikings going to do with Sam Darnold? Mean?
Because right now I feel like I could just guarantee

(01:08:02):
you two teams that are gonna have different starters on
opening Day in twenty five than they did in twenty
four at least two guy, two teams that would have
a dude that wasn't projected as their starting quarterback right
everywhere else is kind of up in the air.

Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
Gino Smith's playing for a contract.

Speaker 1 (01:08:22):
Saints don't really have a decision to make with Derek
Carr contractually or just as good to keep him unless
you want a tank. There's a lot of good What
is the future in Cleveland? Can you get out of
de Shaan Watts? What are you gonna do right now?
If you're the New York Jets, are you just gonna
have to suffer through another year with Aaron Rodgers?

Speaker 18 (01:08:43):
Like?

Speaker 1 (01:08:43):
I feel like the Raiders and the Giants are the
two teams that will have a different starting quarterback in
twenty five than they've had a majority of twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (01:08:52):
But beyond that, I've got two, four, six, eight.

Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
Nine teams, nine different teams that could end up with
something different starting at quarterback next season. We'll get into
that coming up a little bit later on the program,
but let's get back to the phones real quick. Put
a wrap on this segment with Butch in Germany, Germany,
what's going on Butch.

Speaker 10 (01:09:13):
Hey, what's going on, Chris Taria? I'm great man, Hey,
good show man, like like get your team you guys
on your other show too. But you're still in for
Bernie doing a great job.

Speaker 2 (01:09:28):
Thanks buddy.

Speaker 1 (01:09:29):
It's always a little different world here, especially where are
you at in Germany? Is it like nine in the
morning there for you?

Speaker 10 (01:09:35):
Uh? Yeah, it's uh it's nine thirty.

Speaker 1 (01:09:38):
Yeah, okay, all right, man?

Speaker 2 (01:09:40):
What what what try to call what's on your mind tonight?

Speaker 10 (01:09:44):
Well, you're talking about the Heisen thing and you get
you gave the definition and we're talking about uh, you
know the guy the two guys and shoot or should
have not won this year, which reminds me of the
year that I think it reminded me when Christian McCaffrey
got totally jobbed just because Derrick Henry was on Alabama

(01:10:08):
and they won the national championship. Christian McCaffrey had like,
I don't know, three thousand something like all purpose yards,
you know, speaking of you know, so speaking of you know,
the guy from Colorado, both sides, you know, he had
all kinds of things. But I think I'm pretty sure
was Derrick Henry one it that year, But.

Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
So what did the team by the way, you're right
twenty fifteen. You're absolutely right.

Speaker 1 (01:10:35):
It was Derrick Henry that won and it was Christian
McCaffrey that was the runner up.

Speaker 17 (01:10:40):
Oh yeah, totally totally jobbed on that one. And yes,
I agree with you. The Heisland ceremony sucks. Three or
four guys sitting in front of a TV, some people
talking and then someone went the trophy.

Speaker 10 (01:10:53):
It's like they could pick a.

Speaker 17 (01:10:56):
Way better way of doing that.

Speaker 13 (01:10:57):
And yeah, I agree.

Speaker 1 (01:11:00):
Thanks for calling in from Germany. Germany, let's go. I
didn't know what was going on. It's like someone with
someone trying to start a fighting with him. When that
call started, check.

Speaker 7 (01:11:08):
It sounded like a yeah. I mean Germany is pretty intense.

Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
So maybe it was his daughter getting upset.

Speaker 7 (01:11:14):
Could be that too. I think that would be the
more more more viable right.

Speaker 1 (01:11:21):
Twenty nineteen yards rushing for Christian McCaffrey in twenty fifteen
finished second. What a wild top five that year for
the Heisman Trophy. Derrick Henry won it, followed by Christian McCaffrey.
Deshaun Watson was a sophomore Clemson, Baker Mayfield was fourth,

(01:11:43):
and Keenan Reynolds out of Navy made the top five.
I don't think he got to go to New York though,
didn't get enough votes, But you know, that was the year.
It's kind of funny shows you how much how much
things have changed in just the span of what fifteen
nine years ago. One of the big complaints about McCaffrey
not winning that season was because not enough people stayed

(01:12:06):
up and watched his games. I mean, it was a
lot of East Coast, Southeast southern byas and Derrick Henry
ended up winning the award. Don't get me wrong, Henry
was deserving, but that's probably one of those years where
McCaffrey deserved it. There's a couple like that where you
look back and you say, you know that I would

(01:12:30):
never take anything away from my sooners. Kyler Murray won
it in twenty eighteen, and he might have won it
because it was one of the first years they started
mailing ballots out. Later, because they used to mail them
out like start in November, and you'd have dopes that
would vote on it then because they've already made their

(01:12:52):
mind up, I guess in November. So everyone waited that
year because I think it was like lamarja who had
won it, and everyone kind of decided that Lamar Jackson
had won the award early in the season a couple
of years back, so everyone was patient. And then Tua
got hurt in the SEC championship game and it probably

(01:13:13):
won the award for Kyler Murray because he had a huge,
big twelve championship game that day. But I'll be curious
if history we'll remember this Heisman Trophy as the one
where the right guy didn't win it? Right, Well, history
remember it as, Hey, it's Ashton Gent's award, or will
we look back and say what Travis Hunter did was

(01:13:35):
more than deserving. I tend to think the latter he
deserved it. All Right, we got a break. Look at this,
Look at this. When we come back, I want to
do a double check on some of the injuries that
have taken place and who's in and who's out, and
we'll check some of your tweets at Plank Show at
Fox Sports Radio. Been a busy start to a Sunday morning,

(01:13:57):
so we'll get you ready for a week fifteen. Right
here on Fox Sports Radio, I were cooking Sunday night
Fox Sports Radio and for Bernie Fratto, my name is
Chris Plank. I'm very active on Twitter this week and
for some reason at Plank Show. That's at Plank Show
all one word. I don't know what it is. I
just I was so I was so fired up by

(01:14:19):
some of the college basketball action. Then the overall kind
of tidbits on the voting for the Heisman Trophy caught
my attention, seeing how tight it was but kind of
really not. Then realizing where all of these guys started,
even going to the top ten as far as finalists.

(01:14:41):
So I was all in on that they get NFL talk.
That's just enraging for me right now. It's like, I know,
I know this is better for my team long term
to lose football games, But come Saturday or Sunday, I guess,
in this case, Monday night, It's like, Shay, I can't

(01:15:01):
bring myself to be.

Speaker 2 (01:15:02):
Like, goat, go loose. I want to win every game.
This is hard.

Speaker 1 (01:15:06):
And when Max Crosby is out for the rest of
the year, will you lose your best player on your roster?
They'll probably win on Monday night. By the way, speaking
of that Monday night football game, Shaye, do you know
the reason I mean is there why we're doing double
headers this late in the season on Monday night football.

Speaker 7 (01:15:24):
I genuinely have no idea. I was thinking the same
thing too, because it's only been a thing during holidays.

Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
Yeah, early in the season.

Speaker 7 (01:15:34):
Yeah, earlier in the season they did it, and then
they stopped doing it, and then now we're going back
to I don't know's It makes zero sense to me,
to be honest, I mean they're both pretty boring game.

Speaker 1 (01:15:44):
Oh yeah, I mean listen, if you're not a die
hard Raiders Falcons, yeah, Bears Monday Nights Vikings. Yeah, if
you're not a diehard fan of those teams and you're
kind of out, it's like, oh my gosh, what are
we doing?

Speaker 7 (01:15:57):
And it's not like it's like it's not like a
one o'clock start and like a five oclock. It's literally
like five thirty minutes. Yeah, it's thirty minute difference, which
it makes sense because everyone's getting off work, I guess.

Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
But here's the answer that the Google machine gave us.
Apparently there are more weeks because in twenty twenty one,
the NFL reached an agreement with ESPN to feature more
broadcasts on ABC, ESPN and Disney. The New agreement gave

(01:16:26):
the network the rights to broadcast twenty three games per season,
and that started last year. It was a six game
increase from the seventeen games that they could broadcast under
the previous agreement, and in order to fit in the
full twenty three games in an eighteen week season, several
weeks each season will now have multiple money at football games.

(01:16:49):
So there's nothing special, there's no why behind it except
ESPN paid more money. Now this is me, all right,
and I might be alone on this, but if I'm paying, well,
there's like a million dollars to the NFL. I I
don't want the games starting right on top of each other.
I mean it's literally I feel like you're cutting off

(01:17:12):
your nose to spite your face. It's like, okay, so
one game's gonna started six o'clock Central time, the next
one's gonna start at six thirty. Like if you staggered
him maybe an hour and a half that'd be a
little bit better. But there is the why, and the
why still doesn't make those games any more entertaining, does it.

(01:17:33):
I tried shouts out by the way tonight, Gunny, thanks
for battling through at chief seventy two. Some of the
Sooner Nation tuned in tonight, Daryl Last on Twitter, Are
you having Mark Medina on tonight or what? Now?

Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
I guess what.

Speaker 1 (01:17:47):
Mark's usually a regular with Bernie on Sunday nights slash
Sunday morning, right yeah, ye, Saturday night, Sunday.

Speaker 7 (01:17:53):
Morning, midnight Medina Hour, midnight Medina Hour.

Speaker 1 (01:17:57):
Unfortunately, I don't think we touched base soon enough. And
I just see that I got a message from him
like an hour and a half ago. Next week, next week,
Mark will be back. My bad, My bad, that's just
swinging a miss on my front.

Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
Shout out.

Speaker 1 (01:18:11):
Shaney Sean, who was the one guy excited about NBA
talk should be Man, the grizz are actually pretty good.
Ralph Cup, Come come on, man, it's the NBA Cup.
The bucks are in, buddy. We filled up the phone
lines in the first hour in the NBA Cup. That's sarcasm.
Ralph writes, I have a feeling Arnie will do two

(01:18:31):
things playing. Number one, send the rundown early in the morning,
maybe before the show wins at six am Eastern, and
number two request that he drives the car Sunday night
after you finish.

Speaker 2 (01:18:41):
To Bernie Fillen, shows.

Speaker 1 (01:18:44):
Ralph, I'm telling you guys right now, I beg Arnie
to drive the show because he has no care what
I ever have to say. You know I want to
I'm so I'm telling you, Ralph, you ever want to go?
It's his if he wants it. I could easily be
his sidekick. I mean, I'm already his sidekick. What am
I talking about? Doug Wrights play Butch is a bin

(01:19:05):
Mallard caller and is usually on the Autobahn doing about
one hundred miles an hour.

Speaker 7 (01:19:11):
Boit we have really, but Butch just called in by
the way actually, and he goes, uh yeah, yeah, uh uh.
Family sick. I was trying to feed my daughter.

Speaker 2 (01:19:20):
Oh what a great dad.

Speaker 7 (01:19:21):
I was trying to feed my daughter medicine and I
was like, oh, I feel horrible now, Butch, I'm an
a hole. Yeah, we suck.

Speaker 1 (01:19:28):
Bunch is a good dad, though, Yeah, he's awesome. I'm terrible.
And then Jeff Wrights, why don't they offer consolation prizes
for the runners up of the Heisman? If these four
the best college players in the nation, then they should
have second, third, and fourth place prizes. Just a thought,
maybe Jeff that goes back to what Deanie Westbrook told me. Right, man,
if you ever get a chance, you need to try

(01:19:49):
to win the Heisman, like things like have little mini sculptures,
many trophies. A lot of these guys end up picking
up other awards, right, like the Maxwell Award, the Devut
O'Brien awards, so consolation prizes for the Heisman. I think
I'm here for it all right. When we come back,
We're all in on the big matchups in the NFL.
On Fox Sports Radio, I saw the dumbest thing I've

(01:20:11):
seen in the history of the Internet today and I
can't wait to share it with you. Coming up an
hour three of the Bernie Fratto Show here on Fox
Sports Radio. My name is Chris Blank, sitting in Shae
Mark running Shay and Mark running the show. Disager's got
updates at the top of the hour. I'll take care
of some things at the bottom. Coming up for I
got a few things news and notes wise that I

(01:20:32):
want to get to, but I feel so much pressure
now as we come to you live from the tire
rack dot Com studios. Tire rack dot Com will help
you get there and unmatched the selection, fast free shipping,
free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended installers
tire rack dot com. The way tire buying should be.
Everything seems so specific in the open. I feel like

(01:20:54):
I can't talk anything but NFL right now, and I
honestly don't know if there's anything else I want to
talk talk more about now, full disclosure in this exact
time slot slot time period, if you will, last night.
I don't know what the carryover is like from one
night to the other. I know there might be someone
up on the East Coast having to take a friend

(01:21:14):
of the airport or dropping someone off, or maybe you're
just getting back from Army, Navy, or I don't know,
you're just a crazy person. It gets up this early
to live life. Maybe you're on the West Coast and
you're just getting home from a night out on the bars.
Don't drink and drive, I fat drink tonight, don't drive.
Too many options out there, lift uber, all kinds of
ride shares. Don't risk it, it's not worth it. So

(01:21:36):
I don't know what the carryover is like as far
as people listening from last night in the same time
period tonight. But last night in this slot, Shay we
talked in depth about the issues in Philadelphia this past week,
and I think it's one of the most fascinating stories
in the NFL this year. Part and parcel because the

(01:21:57):
Eagles are the best teams I think in the NFL
this year, and they're currently in the midst of one
of the hottest streaks that we've seen in the NFL.
But yet it's been a week dripping with drama. So
I think I think I want to try to talk
about Eagles Steelers without talking about the drama and maybe

(01:22:21):
save the drama for next hour because I spent so
much time on it here last night. I mean, it's
it's fascinating whenever you see the starting quarterback basically getting
blasted by a star wide receiver and then people talking
about not making it personal, and then all of a
sudden it's like, oh, yeah, they worked it out.

Speaker 2 (01:22:41):
I mean, come on, there's got to be something more
to this, right.

Speaker 7 (01:22:44):
Shay, Honestly, Okay, I wait, are you an Eagles fan.
I'm not an Eagles fan. I'm a Browns fan.

Speaker 1 (01:22:51):
Actually, so oh sorry, I picture team earlier to win today.

Speaker 7 (01:22:54):
No, it's okay, I don't want them to win. I
say what he like, I thought you were talking about
their all sit there.

Speaker 1 (01:23:01):
For like an hour wanting them to win, and they'll
be like, hey, you know what, it's not really good
if we win this game. But I digress.

Speaker 7 (01:23:06):
The only time I want them to win is when
they play the Steelers. That's pretty much it. It's the same
way you want them to win against the Chiefs. You know,
that's track.

Speaker 1 (01:23:14):
Yeah, it's you only win two games a year, beat
the Chiefs, so the Broncos or the Charger with it
be Fortunately, unfortunately there are two wins of this year,
the Ravens and the Brown So it makes zero sense whatsoever.
But you am I making too much of this because
and I'm not trying to say anyone egg desa on here.
I'm not trying to say, well, this was Brianna's idea

(01:23:34):
last night, because I am just infatuated with this story
right now.

Speaker 7 (01:23:39):
Okay, it's definitely a hot story. But the thing is is,
I think this happens with every team. It's just aj
Brown decided to go to the media with it, which
is something I'm super against. I just didn't like the
fact that he did that. I mean, dude, everyone has beef.
Everyone for some reason is upset at their star player
or quarterback or whatever and their star widers either. It

(01:24:00):
happens like we see this a lot. I as an
athlete saw within my own team it happens a lot,
but it's something that in the end, like it is
something you can just get over. I mean, dudes are dudes,
and they'll start yelling at each other one day and
then the next minute they're sharing a beer. Like I
think it was definitely blown into something way bigger because
that's what we as media love doing, of course, but no,

(01:24:23):
I could definitely see them just being like, oh, we're good,
let's go win a super Bowl. It's it's easy to
do that when, especially when you're a grown man and
you get paid that much money to do that. So
I definitely think there isn't too much to it. But
it is a little frightening to hear as a fan. Hey,
my star wide receiver and my star quarterback are not

(01:24:46):
really liking each other, but who cares because say, Karen
is doing amazing.

Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
Go win football gig exact right.

Speaker 7 (01:24:52):
Exactly, So I think it's just a little too much.

Speaker 1 (01:24:55):
Jalen Hurts has won forty five of his sixty four
games as a starting quarterback. So my point here is
I'm gonna hold off on the drama. I want to
talk about the game. I want to talk about this game.
I want to talk about Steelers Eagles. I want to
talk about Bill's lions here in this segment. First off

(01:25:16):
with the Steelers and the Eagles. Does the concern over
the lacks of a passing game bother you for me? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
But again, all they do is win, win, win, no
matter what.

Speaker 1 (01:25:30):
And even though Jalen Hurts can become just the fifth
quarterback since the fifties with at least three career winning
streaks of at least ten games, think about that for
a bit. The Eagles are on the cusp of a
ten game winning streak and for Jalen Hurts as a starter,
it will be the third time that it's happened in

(01:25:53):
his career. The only other quarterbacks that have done that
are John Manning, who John Elway, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady,
and Patrick Mahomes. I mean, it's just incredible. Uh, there
is that pink elephant in the room that four targets
last week for aj Brown with just concerning but I

(01:26:14):
feel like that's countered by Saquon Barkley question question around
the Horn, Shaye, I'll start with you. Do you feel
like Saquon Barkley would be having a season like this
if he was a Giant?

Speaker 2 (01:26:30):
No?

Speaker 7 (01:26:30):
Right, I don't think he would be heavy no season
like this on any other team, exactly. I just best
case scenario for him, and I don't think any There
aren't a lot of running backs that could take advantage
of having a team like this. And I'm not taking
he's Yeah, I'm not gonna take that away from Saquon either,
but he's definitely in a position to be his best self.

(01:26:52):
And I'm happy for him. I mean, even Giant fans
that are happy for him, like they're.

Speaker 2 (01:26:58):
They Giants fans are happy. But it's gotta be painful.

Speaker 7 (01:27:01):
Oh yeah. It's like seeing your ex girlfriend that still
likes you and you're friends with with someone so much
better than you, so you have to be like, oh.

Speaker 1 (01:27:09):
Oh hey, and she looks good. Yeah she likeay it,
she looks great. Yeah awesome. At least they're not a
Raider fan or a Brown.

Speaker 2 (01:27:18):
Fan, right, I mean, listen, they could be living r hell.

Speaker 7 (01:27:21):
Right, yeah, two hundred billion for one.

Speaker 1 (01:27:23):
Here's the other side of it is Pittsburgh. I watched
the Steelers before Russell Wilson took over whenever they played
the Raiders. And that night, the Steelers won the game
thirty two to thirteen. Okay, but at that point it
was only their fourth win of the season. And I
came away from that game again, thirty two to thirteen.

(01:27:47):
I came away from that game thinking, I think Pittsburgh
kind of sucks. I'm not even lying, because that was
a game where it finally became more than a two
score game with about four minutes to go in the
third quarter. Like it took Pittsburgh a little bit to
fully pull away. It was never in doubt, but I thought,
I thought the Raiders played one of their worst games

(01:28:07):
of the year and they were still in a position
to make that a game in the third quarter. Like,
you got to be kidding me right now, and we
were still living Steeler fans, right the Justin Fields roller
coaster where one week kind of like in the second
half of that Raiders game, he looks incredible, right, I
think he almost ran for sixty yards, scored two touchdowns

(01:28:29):
five point four per carry. But I didn't think they
were very good and they won the game by what
at least three scores. But they they've really found something
with Russell Wilson. But they've had something all year long
that I don't think we're giving him enough credit for.

Speaker 7 (01:28:50):
I think I know what you're going to say, all right.

Speaker 1 (01:28:52):
Well go with an individual, because I'm going with just
an overall skill set here or something they shut down.
Who would you say, George Pickens?

Speaker 7 (01:28:58):
Oh, I thought you were gonna bring up Mike Tomlin here.

Speaker 1 (01:29:01):
Oh yes, well this fits right exactly. You've got Mike Tomlin.
And what is Mike Tomlin always going to try to do?
Shut down the opposing teams? He is going now? Numbers wise,
Derrick Henry still averaged five yards per carry, and the

(01:29:21):
Ravens still is a team, averaged six point five yards
per carry. But it didn't hurt the Steelers too much
because he only had sixty five yards on thirteen carries.
Whenever they played Cleveland, I think what was this? One
of them was like Chubb's early game back, right.

Speaker 7 (01:29:41):
Yeah, he'd scored two touchdowns and that was like the
snow Globe game.

Speaker 1 (01:29:44):
Yeah that's right.

Speaker 7 (01:29:45):
And the other one was last week, right, yeah, yeah,
last week? And so they split the Browns won the
Snowbloat game. Steelers won last.

Speaker 1 (01:29:53):
Game, but even in that it wasn't because of Nick Chubb.
In the snow Globe game, he had two touchdowns but
only ran.

Speaker 7 (01:30:00):
For fifty nine yards. He wasn't doing too hot.

Speaker 2 (01:30:03):
In the Uh oh, I make sure you my number's
right here.

Speaker 1 (01:30:06):
Eleven carries for forty eight yards in the twenty seven
to fourteen game.

Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
What just lasts a couple weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (01:30:13):
Yeah, So my point is sure, Saquon Barkley's been incredible
and he's been a guy that's just been churning out
one hundred yard games all season long. He's approaching two
thousand yards. But Pittsburgh has been really good this year
in slowing down the opposing team's rushing attack. Allah, I
e as you were saying, Shay, Yeah, got Mike Tomlin

(01:30:34):
who just wins football games?

Speaker 7 (01:30:36):
Right, seriously, because he's a year I think honestly.

Speaker 1 (01:30:39):
Really could be him or Sean Payton.

Speaker 7 (01:30:42):
I genuinely think could be him. The turnaround, the two quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (01:30:47):
The way they balanced those two quarterbacks.

Speaker 7 (01:30:49):
Ex Actually, I mean, yeah, they're not first in their division.
The Ravens are still first in the division, but still
like the Ravens of Derrick Henry. I mean, come on,
like what the Steelers are doing with what they have?
I think it's definitely.

Speaker 1 (01:31:01):
You want a wild stat going into this game tonight
this afternoon, I should say, Russell Wilson has never lost
to the Steelers. What Russell Wilson as a starting quarterback
has never lost to the Eagles. He's gone six and
zero against them in his career, including one playoff win.
All those games, by the way, were with the Seahawks,
so there wasn't like a Denver Bronco win over the

(01:31:24):
Eagles in there. Anyway.

Speaker 7 (01:31:25):
What's the spread, like spread in my mind? Do you
see it right now?

Speaker 1 (01:31:29):
Yeah? It's five and a half. So yeah, the Eagles,
by the way, favorite is by five and a half.
They're home. Eagles are five and one at home this year,
eleven and two overall, and Steelers have won five of
their seven road games this year. So here here's a
couple of things on this game just to think about. Right,
can the Eagles win time of possession? Because this this

(01:31:55):
Pittsburgh plan. Steeler fans, I'll take your bullets if you
disagree with me, right, I'll go scarface. I can take
your bullets. But I feel it's not spectacular how they're winning.
It's just death by a thousand paper cuts right where
they might And with Russell Wilson, they've hit a few
more big plays. I getting George Pickens involved has been huge,

(01:32:17):
and I think sometimes Russ has been like George is
down there somewhere and he just throws it up. But
they have been incredible in getting a lead. It might
be three zip, it might be six zip, it might
be nine zip, and they just don't give you the
football back. They average more than thirty two minutes per
game with a football. The Eagles average thirty one minutes

(01:32:39):
per game. And as far as time of possession, the
NFL is concerned, that is amongst the best in the league.
I guess that's that moment where I would say period
in a discussion, So a stat that I think sometimes
we maybe overvalue a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
Time of possession.

Speaker 1 (01:33:01):
I really feel like it's going to play a major
role in today's game between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. A couple
of other things to keep an eye on. Will Nick
Sirianni's been incredible. He has the sixth best winning percentage
at point seven. Oh three seventy percent, seventy one percent

(01:33:23):
whatever through sixty games, right minimum of sixty games, he
has the sixth be winning percentage ever ever. Think about
that for a moment. The names ahead of him John Madden,
Vince Lombardi, George Allen. But yet, for some reason, as

(01:33:44):
great as those numbers are, for Nick Sirianni, I feel
like sometimes he is the biggest hindrance for the Eagles.
Bad time management decisions, kind kind of ridiculous fourth down
decisions every now and then.

Speaker 2 (01:34:00):
I just I feel like he.

Speaker 1 (01:34:02):
I think Kellen Moore has done an incredible job by
the way, you pull back, and I'm with you, Mike
Tomlin Coach of the Year conversation, Sean Payton should be
there coordinator of the year if I don't even think
the NFL has that, I don't think they have a
Broils Award. But I think Kellen Moore has done a
really nice job in creating this ground and pound attack
for Philadelphia. But I mean, Eagle fans, it's an incredible

(01:34:24):
winning streak. He's done a great job in calumbing the waters.
But where is your confidence level right now? In Nick Sirianni.

Speaker 7 (01:34:30):
They were calling for his head earlier in this he's
been fighting with fans on the side.

Speaker 1 (01:34:35):
And then I would also add the Eagles cannot turn
the football over. That is one area where if I
can you go back to those miserable moments of the
early season when the Raiders got smoked by Pittsburgh. The
reason he got out of hand they turned the football
over that period, plain and simple in a discussion. How

(01:34:57):
many more times can I say that? And the reason
is because the Steelers are very good at forteing takeaways,
fifteen interceptions, thirteen fumble recoveries. If you want like a
comparison between what the Steelers have and what the Eagles do.
Mentioned fifteen picks thirteen fumble recoveries by the Steelers, the
Eagles have eight and seven respectively.

Speaker 2 (01:35:20):
So it is it is a wild battle of like.

Speaker 1 (01:35:24):
A strength versus a weakness, and a weakness versus a strength.
And I guess to some degree there too, strength on strength.
What's the strength of the Steelers for his turnovers shut
down running the football? What's been the strength of the
Eagles don't really well, they haven't had too many turnover
issues and they can run the nam football. So you

(01:35:47):
got some strength versus weakness and you have some strength
on strength. I'm here for it. I feel like it's
a playoff battle, you know, and it's two teams that
would only see each other in the Super Bowl. But
I guess you could say fake Pennsylvania State championship.

Speaker 2 (01:36:02):
It's gonna be fun. The Steelers.

Speaker 1 (01:36:04):
We mentioned the numbers as far as shutting down Nick
Chubb and them shutting downs a little bit unfair when
he scored two touchdowns, right, Shay, I mean he's still
scored two touchdown.

Speaker 2 (01:36:14):
I didn't shut him down.

Speaker 7 (01:36:15):
Yea, they didn't shut him down.

Speaker 1 (01:36:16):
But the Steelers rushing defense is top five in the league.
Ninety one point five yards per game is what they allow. Meanwhile,
Saquon Barkley is the league's leading rusher. You got Pittsburgh
with an offensive line that is young, right, and experienced,
and this might be the best interior defensive tackle tandem

(01:36:37):
in the league in Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter. And
let's again, I'll go full circle here before you put
a rap on this game. If you're Kellen Moore, offensive
coordinator for the Eagles, you have had so much success
in what you've developed with the running game, will you

(01:36:57):
fill the need, feel feel feel, feel the need to
try to force feed aj Brown? And if you do,
will that go against what's become the foundation and the
identity of this team. The Eagles are last in the
NFL in pass attempts and thirty first in passing yards.

Speaker 2 (01:37:19):
But what do they have?

Speaker 1 (01:37:19):
They have the league's leading rusher. So it'll be very
interesting to see what Philadelphia decides to. Do you play
your receiver, you try to get things going in a
positive direction, or do you just go with what works.

Speaker 2 (01:37:35):
Hey, Pittsburgh is the team right now, Philly fan.

Speaker 1 (01:37:39):
Pittsburgh's the team that when you look at what they've done,
They're going to force you to throw the football. They're
gonna find a way to get a hat on a hat,
force you to throw the football. And I think this
is gonna be one hell of a challenge, all right.
So if you don't like my Russell Wilson stat, Russell
Wilson has never lost in the Eagles, here's the other
side of it, Eagle fans. The Steelers have lost ten

(01:38:02):
straight road games against Philadelphia, dating back to nineteen sixty five.
It's their longest road losing streak against a single opponent
in franchise history h R eight seven seven ninety nine
on Fox eight seven seven nine ninety six sixty three
six y nine. We'll dive more in depth than this

(01:38:23):
matchup as the night rolls on Plus. I do want
to revisit a little bit of the Jalen Hurts AJ
Brown saga. But it's not the only game in the NFL,
and it might not be the biggest game in the
NFL in my opinion. There's one bigger and we'll talk
about it next. But first I want to remind you
that you need to tune in coming up here, can

Again, search Fox Sports Radio wherever.

Speaker 1 (01:39:35):
You get your podcast, and you'll see this show posted
right after we'd done in about an hour and a
half from now. My buddy Josh Helmer's going to join
us in the final hour. Haven't had a chance to
get Josh here on the national stage, but he is well.
He's covering the Raiders unfortunately, but a lot of college
football to get to one note before we dive all
in on this matchup between the Bills and the Lines.

(01:40:00):
We had a team back out of a bowl game today.
Now there's a couple of Why's right. Number one, Marshall's
head coach left to take another job. And when he left, well,
there were quite a few people that jumped into portal
with him. In fact, that that number for Marshall players
in the portal, it's been it's been thrown around, but

(01:40:24):
we're talking, we're talking more than half their roster. I mean,
it's just it's of guys who wouldn't be able to play,
and at that point it's not more than half their
roster in the portal's like thirty. But it's also you're
you're bringing in a new coach and you don't even

(01:40:46):
know who's still going to be around to call plays
for a bowl game, so.

Speaker 2 (01:40:50):
They had to.

Speaker 1 (01:40:51):
Louisiana Tech will now slide into the Armed Forces Bowl
where they will square off with Army, who lost today
in the Army Navy game. But I'm honestly, I'm surprised
that this hasn't happened more often. I'm surprised this hasn't
happened more often, because, you know, you go back to
last year. I'm old enough to remember whenever Syracuse playing
in a bowl game and had a freaking tight end

(01:41:13):
playing quarterback for them. It's just it's not it's not
a coach's fault, it's not Marshall's fault. It's not Army
or Louisiana Tech's fault. And by the way, Louisiana Tech
chosen to replace Marshall one of two reasons. Number one,
they could and number two the proximity to the Independence Bowl.

(01:41:37):
So it's like, right, there in their backyard. So two
things work out pretty well. I can imagine those negotiations
for the Independence Bowl. It's like, listen, we know you
were five and seven. We want you to come play
in the bowl game. We don't have a hotel for
you. You just got to get yourself here. But it'll still
be fun to watch Army play Louisiana tack. So it's

(01:41:58):
not any team's fault. It's the fault of quite possibly
the dumbest schedule in the world, in the history of ever,
in not just sports history, in life and world history.
The hell you have free agency going on during your
playoffs for involving teams that are in said playoffs in

(01:42:19):
set bowl games, and I don't know how you fix it.
So you want to see then you have another You
got another whole issue that's taking place during all of
this as well, because you have roster limits that you
need to take into account. Now, I mean, we got
you got college football teams that are being told you
got to tie to your roster up.

Speaker 11 (01:42:41):
A lot of.

Speaker 1 (01:42:41):
Dudes being processed, and if you're not familiar with that term,
being processed means they're gonna call you into the office
and you might have a scholarship, you might be a
walk on, and they're gonna tell you you can't play
here anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:42:54):
We don't want you here anymore. Basically, you're cut.

Speaker 1 (01:42:57):
And it's happening all over college football right now because
you have to get your roster to one oh five.
So there is a lot of player movement that's taking place,
and some of it maybe would warrant freak outs by
fan bases. Some would warrant a team backing away from
a bowl game like Marshall had to. But what this

(01:43:19):
warrants more than anything else is somebody, somebody step in
and say, what are we doing with our schedule college football?
We got playoff games this week and coming up. I'm
so excited for home playoff games. I can't wait. I
can't wait for Indiana Notre Dame on Friday night. I
can Notre Dame playing on a Friday night for the
first time since nineteen hundred. I can't wait to see

(01:43:43):
James Franklin try not to wet the bed with SMU
coming to town in their high powered offense. I think
that there is a chance Clemson's going to give Texas
everything he can handle. And I'm really over the Moonjack
through Ohio State Tennessee. But I also know that my
eye is gonna be on the freaking portal all night long,

(01:44:05):
and that there's gonna be people making decisions as soon
as that game's over in masses to leave. We got
to fix this college football. It's broken. It's a great game,
it's a great sport. But I saw a couple of
people fighting about it tonight on social media.

Speaker 2 (01:44:22):
Oh, it's not really broken.

Speaker 1 (01:44:23):
No, the player slash roster management process is broken right
now in college football. There is no job in life
that you can go to for a year, have like
a non binding contract. They can't take your money from you.
You're gonna get paid regardless, and then you get up

(01:44:45):
and leave and go somewhere else and probably make more
money the next year. I mean, it's just it's wild
and part of its colleges problem for ignoring this for
the longest time. And I'm sorry, I'm not trying to
get on a bully pullpit here, Shay, but everyone wants
to like Gallon scream at Marshall or yelling scream at
the bowl game. No, this is the system, and because
it's become so important for colleges to get guys in

(01:45:09):
at semester, and because everybody seems to be on a
different calendar or timeline of across college sports, it's never
gonna change. I mean, imagine you're watching an NFL playoff game,
just just for a moment, and then all of a sudden,
in the middle of a playoff game, one of the
guys leaves the field is like, I'm out here. Well,

(01:45:29):
I mean, we just saw that happen with the Niners
the other day. But he is out of here, and
immediately he's going to go play somewhere else, starting like
the moment he puts that jersey on. It's just crazy.
There's really no checks and balances in college sports, and
in college football specifically. Revenue sharing is not going to
fix it all. It's going to be a good step

(01:45:49):
in the right direction, but it's not going to fix
it all. I hate this for the Marshall guys that
are sticking around. Marshall, by the way, had a chance
to extend their coach and decided not to.

Speaker 2 (01:45:59):
And only did was win their conference this year.

Speaker 1 (01:46:02):
It's like, thanks for nothing. Fix Gotta fix the schedule, man.
College football's got to fix the schedule. All right, it's
the Bernie Fratto Show. My name is Chris Planks, sitting
in Welcome in a couple of headlines obviously that we've
been following tonight. Congratulations to Navy, who got to win
over Army, first time that they've won that game in
a couple of seasons. I was watching, I was in,

(01:46:25):
I was tuned in. I thought it was great. I
was trying to find my son, I Quinn't he's a
cadet at West Point. But I'm always emotional. It's a
great day for America and Navy beat him thirty one
to thirteen. Now Navy goes on to play Oklahoma in
the Armed Forces Ball that's December twenty seventh. Army learned
after the game, of course, it will not be playing
Louisiana Tech NBA Cup final set on Tuesday. It'll be

(01:46:48):
the Thunder scoring off against the Bucks. I think Milwaukee's
won eight of their last ten against OKC And Travis
Hunter won the Heisman Trophy. We had a big Heisman
Trophy conversation an hour two so if you missed it,
I thought it was good. We went back and forth.
Heisman Trophy has always been the most outstanding player in

(01:47:09):
college football. But to me, most outstanding is also most valuable.
And while it was outstanding that he played both ways,
I thought Senor Sanders was more valuable and more outstanding
and what he did for Colorado. And I'm sorry I
thought Ashton Genty with my pick. I thought he should
have won the award. But I got no problem. I
got no qualms with the win tonight for Travis Hunner,

(01:47:33):
well deserved. But if you get an opportunity, check that
out on the podcast. All right, guys, let's talk a
little bit about the other big game in the NFL today,
the other marquee matchup. We went in depth on Eagles,
Steelers last segment, Bills and the Lions. Now this is
interesting because you would probably think, outside of the Chiefs,

(01:47:53):
these would be considered two of the favorites to play
in the Super Bowl. Right, Some have even set a
potential super Bowl preview. But I'm sure you know these
are also two of the twelve teams that have never
won a Super Bowl. The Bills were bad defensively last
week somehow, and the Bills being bad defensively last week,
it actually bolstered Josh Allen's Heisman chances. They allowed the Rams,

(01:48:15):
who last check didn't score a touchdown. On Thursday Night Football,
the Bills allowed the Rams to put up forty four points.
And get this, the Rams were eleven to fifteen on
third down conversions. Now that's the bad for the Bills.
The good is they've scored thirty or more points now
in seven straight games. I think it's fair to say

(01:48:39):
that they are they're kind of cooking a little bit.
Josh Allen was incredible last week, but Detroit has been
equally as impressive with its offense. Ben Johnson has him cooking.
They're the number one ranks scoring offense in the NFL.
Detroit is averaging thirty two point one points per game.

(01:49:00):
Number two the Buffalo Bills. The sun God has been
cooking recently. I'm on Rasse Brown, he's up to nine
touchdowns on the season and the Bills. Both these teams
have really been set back by injuries. I mean the Lions,
I got to check their availability report. I haven't seen
anything on Josh Pascal or Alan McNeil, but I'll double

(01:49:25):
check it. The Bills are getting healthier too, because they're
getting Keon Coleman back. Reportedly, he hasn't played since November tenth,
So I don't know about you, Shay, but as much
as the Eagles and the Steelers looks like it's going
to be a rock fight in a defensive minded game,
maybe thinking under there, this has all the makings of

(01:49:47):
a shootout coming up in Detroit, doesn't it.

Speaker 16 (01:49:52):
He stepped out, Oh, it does seem like to shootout
peas both offenses from what I can tell their fire,
they're both you know, powerful, they get the job done.
They can move the ball through the air, so they're
both capable. Bon Roger are capable. What Shane News he
knows we are fired up about this game. Well, when

(01:50:14):
Doody calls duty calls, I think.

Speaker 1 (01:50:16):
That there is. I think there's some concern right now
with Detroit in the health of its defense, right I
think there's But I also think, you know, Buffalo is
really putting a lot on Josh Allen right now, my
favorite for the MVP, but Kirby Joseph rock Star one
of the highest grade the PFF safeties in the league.

(01:50:39):
With what he and Branch have done in that secondary
has been huge for Detroit this season. Ian Brian Branch,
I don't know, I just I feel like, even with
all the injuries, Detroit's a little bit better defensively than Buffalo.
I think it's gonna be a fun game for everything
defensive minded that it appears Eagles and Steelers might be

(01:51:01):
once you get offensive minded, an absolute shootout. I think
coming up between the Bills and the Allions. I was
looking at the five oh six Sports If you're not
familiar with that, it's a website that lets you know
what games are being showed in what markets. And it
is kind of interesting because that at Pittsburgh Philadelphia game,

(01:51:25):
it's on Fox and it is, I guess, in competition
with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Chargers game for coverage. And
if you pull up the five oh six sports dot
com website, it is wild to see how little of
the country is getting the Buccaneers Chargers game, which is
a hell of a game.

Speaker 2 (01:51:44):
In fact, I was kind of surprised by this.

Speaker 1 (01:51:48):
Most of the country is getting Pittsburgh and Philadelphia as expected,
but yet it's wild. There's the patch right there in
Atlanta that's getting the Bucks Chargers game. Well, is that
all about the foul want to make sure that Tampa
Bay doesn't get too far away from him, and in
that late window, I was honestly shocked to see how
little of the country is getting Buffalo and Detroit because

(01:52:12):
they've got the New England Arizona game, and they've got
Indy Denver. Indy just has that swath of the Mountain
time zone. Buffalo Detroit's gating the West coast and most
of the Midwest, but the northeast is getting New England Arizona.
The whole state of Arizona's getting it. I just wild
to see just how much of the country will get

(01:52:34):
Philly and Pittsburgh, and how somewhat limited mister unlimited but
limited when it comes to Buffalo in Detroit. I think
there's an upset brewing tomorrow, and I think it's in
the early game. And I'm not just pandering to Shay
because he's a Lions fan, but I think that clock
is ticking. I think that clock is ticking. Does it

(01:52:55):
finally strike midnight for Kansas City, who's been playing for
their food too long? I don't know.

Speaker 7 (01:53:01):
Did you just call my Lions fan?

Speaker 1 (01:53:02):
No, no, no, I said, Browns fan. Don't worry, Okay, no, no, no.
The key here, The key here is I was talking
Bill's Lions.

Speaker 7 (01:53:12):
Just wanted to make sure I went.

Speaker 1 (01:53:13):
I moved on to Chiefs Browns, which is where I
think an upset is actually going to happen tomorrow. All Right,
we'll get to that coming up, Max right here on
Fox Sports Radio, stick Round. I like this tweet from
the Russian Kid. I think it's fair. He right, just
wanted to throw it out there. Playing without stinking genius.
It's like peanut butter without jelly. I need to hear

(01:53:33):
some Dolphins nonsense. As a Bengals fan, I'm so happy
that Jamar and Joe Burrow are tight friends since college days.

Speaker 2 (01:53:42):
They got to win one together. Happy NFL day, bro.

Speaker 1 (01:53:47):
Yeah, it's kind of weird doing a show where Number
one I don't have to worry about someone out of
nowhere going the Dolphins are going to the super Bowl
and reminding you that they're a bigger fan than you
are constantly.

Speaker 2 (01:54:02):
I gotta Teyson.

Speaker 1 (01:54:03):
There are two people by the way, the Russian Kid,
and it cracks me up that Arnie basically beats us
up for three hours and when we fire back, I
don't know how they time it. This dude last week,
I'm still angry about it. I'm still angry about it
a week later. I think, Shay, did we talk about
this on the air? Off the air? I think it
was off the air right with the guys like you

(01:54:25):
need'd be nice to Arnie. It's unacceptable.

Speaker 7 (01:54:27):
Yes, are you off the area?

Speaker 1 (01:54:29):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (01:54:29):
I'm like, are you freaking kidding me?

Speaker 1 (01:54:31):
We get bullied for two hours and forty five minutes
and you give it back, and all of a sudden,
you're gonna try to white night for Arnie. Come on anyway,
Arnie and I'll be back together tomorrow night. All right,
later tonight?

Speaker 2 (01:54:44):
Excuse me?

Speaker 1 (01:54:45):
So overnight? Things gotten me thrown off? You bring a
Burrow and Chase. That's in relation to the Jalen Hurts
AJ Brown saga that took place this week that some
could say maybe we blew out of proportion a little
bit because that's what we do in the old media.
But yeah, you got two guys that really seem to
enjoy each other's company on the field, and they've had issues, right,

(01:55:09):
but it always seems like when they have issues, you know,
it's not with each other.

Speaker 2 (01:55:13):
I have Joe Burrow.

Speaker 1 (01:55:14):
And yeah, I guess you could say in this case,
Jamorrow Chase and a couple of other Bengal receivers. You know,
their issues don't appear to be with each other. It's
what I'm trying to spit out. Their issues might be
with a contractual situation or with play caller coaching, doesn't
ever seem to be that their issues are with each other,

(01:55:37):
or at the very least if they are. As shape
put it earlier, it's just a couple of grown assmen
having a conversation. That's all.

Speaker 2 (01:55:44):
It is a couple of grown men talking.

Speaker 1 (01:55:47):
All right, speaking of grown men, you don't seem to
be as in with me, Shay on your Browns potentially
pulling it off today in Cleveland, I doubt.

Speaker 7 (01:55:56):
I mean, it's what we do. It's doing. Teams play
against us, good teams especially they played down and for
some reason Jamis will look like a MVP quarterback and
not throw those last second interceptions which usually happens against
really really good teams. For some reason, Yeah, I definitely

(01:56:17):
could see it happening, because we'll never win the games
that we're supposed to, but for some reason we'll win it.

Speaker 1 (01:56:22):
It's enraging, isn't it It?

Speaker 2 (01:56:24):
Really?

Speaker 7 (01:56:24):
It genuinely is. It's it's extremely frustrating and honestly, again
I said it, I don't want us to win, but hey,
if we get to beat I guess the former super
Bowl champs.

Speaker 1 (01:56:35):
Like super Bowl champs.

Speaker 7 (01:56:37):
Yeah, I take it. I'll take it. I'll take that.
I'll take a win any day.

Speaker 1 (01:56:41):
Here's what Patrick Mahomes said about the last few games
for the Chiefs.

Speaker 19 (01:56:45):
I mean, all you can do is focus on the game,
the practice that you had that day. I'm not trying
to prepare my body all year long for this stretch.
That's Taylor and my workouts is Taylor and how you
practice and you prepare and the coach do a great
job of taking care of us with a practice field.
I mean, we practice hard as anybody, but they know
how to kind of dial it back when we need it.
It's not like a good feeling. I mean, I'm excited

(01:57:05):
to play on Christmas to hopefully get back from what
we did last year. But you never want to play
this many amount of games and this sort of time.
Not great for your body. But at the end of
the day, it's your job. Your professional need to come
to work and do it.

Speaker 2 (01:57:18):
So there is.

Speaker 1 (01:57:20):
There's Patrick Mahomes. Here is a great question that was
brought up this week. This was on the Pat McAfee show.
Adam Schefter was the guest, and this is a question
I asked myself a lot. And I'm jade because I'm
a Raiders guy, so some people would say have a
hard time being objective towards the Chiefs. The question was,
do we marvel at what the Chiefs are doing right
now or do we think that at any moment this

(01:57:42):
is going to crumble a bit.

Speaker 2 (01:57:43):
Here's what Adam Schefter said.

Speaker 8 (01:57:45):
I think it's incredible time that the Kansas City Chiefs
have won the last two Super Bowls. They've won nine
straight division championships, nine straight afcus, and yet we are
continuely questioning whether they can get it done. They have
one of the greatest coaches of all time, they have

(01:58:06):
one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, they have
one of the greatest tight ends of all time. They
have one of the greatest defensive linemen of all time,
a future Hall of Famer in Chris Jones. And yet
people continue to question the Chiefs. But let me tell
you why they do. And I stumbled across some of
these stats last night in a betting packet that ESPN
sends out with some betting information. Do you realize this
season that the Kansas City Chiefs in their past seven

(01:58:29):
games are and seven against the spread?

Speaker 2 (01:58:32):
Oh and seven against the spread?

Speaker 8 (01:58:35):
No team ever has gone on to win the Super
Bowl in the same season it had a six game against.

Speaker 2 (01:58:42):
The spread losing streak.

Speaker 8 (01:58:44):
The Chiefs have won eight straight games this season in
which they did not cover the spread, tied for the
most of a single season since the nineteen seventy merger.
And I will say this, for almost sixteen years I
covered the Denver Broncos, and there are any number of
games in years in which they were down and out

(01:59:05):
and then in the final two minutes John Elwick came
along and rallied into victory against all odds. It happened
time and time again. It happened almost regularly. And it
is almost the same thing with Patrick Mahomes. You may
think you have him beaten. He may not be capable

(01:59:25):
of covering against the spread. They may be down to
their last breath, but until that breath is taken, they
are not done. They are the champs. They have won
two straight Super Bowls. They have won nine straight division titles.
They are in first place in the A and C
currently holding the number one seed with a twelve to
one record.

Speaker 2 (01:59:45):
Like, yeah, they're vulnerable.

Speaker 1 (01:59:46):
Yes you could beat them, but somebody still has to
go do it, and they have it not in a while.
Kansas City is so damn good. But yet they're like
rope adop in us right now. They're rope Adopus right now.
I've seen this movie before, but I think Cleveland's gonna
get him. We'll go more in depth and next right
here on Fox Sports Radio into the Bonus Hour. Here

(02:00:08):
on Fox Sports Radio, that's what my Sunday night partner
Arnie Spanier calls us the Bonus Hour, and as always,
it's live from the ti rack dot com studios. Tirack
dot com will help you get there and unmatch the selection, fast,
free shipping, free road hazard protection, and over ten thousand
recommended installers. Tyrack dot com the way tire buying should

(02:00:28):
be eared from disager lot going on a lot, going
on sneaky good sports Day Saturday, but it leads into
one of the best Sundays we've had for afternoon games
in a while. Just about everyone in the country is
getting the Eagles Steelers game if you've got the late
game on the CBS side, a little split, a lot

(02:00:51):
of Indie Detroit out there, which is I'm sorry, Indy Denver,
which is a fascinating game, and then quite a bit
of Detroit Buffalo, which I never do.

Speaker 2 (02:00:59):
Pay Shay.

Speaker 1 (02:01:01):
By the way, in case you can't tell, Bernie Fratto
is out, my name is Chris Planks, sitting in. Mark
is still here, Di sega. I'll have a final update
coming up at the top of the hour. I'll get
you caught up on things at the bottom of the hour,
and Mark Mark's right of the show. My buddy Josh
Helmer is going to join us here. In our next segment.
We're going to preview the NFL week and ahead, and
we've got a lot still to get to for the league,

(02:01:23):
including the future at the quarterback position at several different places.
But I was thinking about this, Shay. I never make picks,
never do. I leave it to Arnie. It's like his thing.
I mean, on a Sunday morning, Week fifteen of the NFL,
I mean, come on, wait, might I even say it?
I gotta do some picks, right, yeah.

Speaker 7 (02:01:44):
I think you have to. It's Week fifteen playoffs. Just
started in fantasy.

Speaker 1 (02:01:51):
It triggers me so much.

Speaker 7 (02:01:52):
Yeah, I'm only in the one.

Speaker 1 (02:01:54):
This was my worst year of fantasy football ever. I
was terrible.

Speaker 7 (02:01:58):
I was horrible, and one lead league and then another league.
I was great, but I didn't make playoffs.

Speaker 1 (02:02:03):
And I hate to be that guy because I know
nobody wants to hear about your fantasy team, but I'm
gonna tell you so many guys that were supposed to
be studs just absolutely cratered this year. I don't know
if we've ever had a year like it outside of
the year when Peyton Manning after the draft had the
next surgery and then was gonna miss the whole season
for the Colts.

Speaker 2 (02:02:23):
I mean, it was just a nightmare.

Speaker 1 (02:02:26):
CMC, who was probably the number CHRISI McCaffrey number one
picking a lot of leagues, hasn't even hard league stepped
on the field this year. Garbage And the person who
wrote it and diagnosed it is garbage. I mean, I
really Tyreek Hill, I bought so much stock in him
this year's Shay so.

Speaker 7 (02:02:47):
Much same here. I had him in two leagues.

Speaker 1 (02:02:50):
Cooper Cup, by the way, kudos to Cooper Cup for
helping making an impact for those people that started him
in their first game. What a big, fat and goose egg.
Do you know that?

Speaker 7 (02:03:00):
Ownuts? Good for him?

Speaker 1 (02:03:03):
But as down as I am on on fantasy and
fantasy playoffs, I can be up on giving you the
plank parlay before we get out of here. So that'll
be my ode to Arnie's picks. I've got three player
props and I got three games. I can't. I can't
get you on board with my Brown's upsetting the Chiefs.

(02:03:25):
Come on, Shay, jump on the train.

Speaker 7 (02:03:27):
I I'm betting on it. I have to. You said it,
and now I'm If I don't do it, I'm in
my Browns fan even so I'm on it. And by
the way, the plank parlay, that's a great name. We're
gonna pla like parlay.

Speaker 1 (02:03:38):
I've got a few now if it's if Bernie, If
Bernie ever takes any more time off right and I
need to fill in, we'll have a caller related segment
called fill in the plank. Oh yeah, yeah, we got
that coming up. What the plank and walk the plank.
So there's there's a lot of things. Yeah, well, you
do a lot of things with it. I've worked with
some creative producers in the past, so we'll be good

(02:04:01):
to go. Yeah, well, just we'll pick well, what's it
called dovetail off? That piggyback off? That all we want?
I think the Sega mentioned it. But a couple of
other quick scores before we get to the guts of
this hour. Bucks beat the Hawks one ten one O two.
Thunderbeat the Houston Rockets won eleven ninety six. The NBA
NBA Cup Finals are set Tuesday night. It'll be Milwaukee

(02:04:21):
versus ok See. Navy upset Army thirty one to thirteen.
Blake Corvat three hundred and eleven total yards, four touchdowns,
first win for Navy over Army in the last three
years college football. Oh, here's my numbers that I was
looking for earlier. Marshall has opted out of the bowl game.
Louisiana Tech is in at the Independence Bowl, the Radiance

(02:04:43):
Technology Independence Bowl December twenty eighth. Marshall has thirty six
players currently in the portal thirty six now, twenty nine
of those are scholarship And remember we're in a fight
to get our rosters down, so there is a lot,
probably more players that have been processed than we've ever seen.
This offseason in college football, Miller Moss committed to Louisville.

(02:05:06):
The former USC quarterback will play for Jeff Brown next year.
College troops, good night, Tennessee, you wanted the buzzer over Illinois.
I think I've well. I think I got that final
call here. That was a heck of a finish Illinois,
and Illinois is gonna be really good by the end
of the year. They're gonna be one of those teams
that you look up and you got going a long
way in your bracket and like, how did that happen?
But they're really good, but Tennessee might be better. Tennessee's

(02:05:30):
currently the number one team in the country, and they
got it done. I don't have the call.

Speaker 2 (02:05:34):
Final score sixty six to sixty four.

Speaker 1 (02:05:36):
Kentucky beat Louisville in the re I guess you could
say kindling of that rivalry. Bedlam happened tonight for Oklahoma
and Oklahoma State. The Sooners smoked the Cowboys and UCLA
rallied to beat Arizona fifty seven to fifty four and
two quick NFL notes Max Crosby out for the year.
Cowboys cornerback Trayvon Digson I had written down out for

(02:05:59):
the year, but I think they might be looking at
him in a week to week basis. So can I
play catch up on something here real quick? And you
won't judge me because I want to talk about the
drama with Philly this week?

Speaker 2 (02:06:10):
Is Are you done with that? Is it okay?

Speaker 1 (02:06:13):
If I just hear kind of the reasons, the reasoning
and the whys behind it, don't judge me, Shay. So
here we go. Last week, after the Philadelphia Eagles won
in less than convincing fashion, there was a postgame interview
with AJ Brown when they asked him what's wrong with

(02:06:34):
the offense and his response was passing.

Speaker 2 (02:06:38):
He was not happy. In fact, here.

Speaker 1 (02:06:42):
It's not the best audio in the world, but you'll
get the gist of it.

Speaker 20 (02:06:47):
What are some things you think they need to get
that the offense needs to improve on back passing?

Speaker 11 (02:06:52):
Hey, Jay, I know everybody wants.

Speaker 12 (02:06:54):
To get in the room colon Davia's technology.

Speaker 7 (02:06:56):
You know, receivers, just like running backs, whant to get
into rid of me.

Speaker 1 (02:06:59):
No heart is there's a receiver to get into.

Speaker 21 (02:07:01):
A rhythm when you guys are only feeling about twenty
times incredibly.

Speaker 1 (02:07:05):
Yeah, I'll spare you you are at it passing why
the offense is kind of struggling and then very difficult
to get into a rhythm. Now, this seemed to just
kind of percolate for a little bit. Yeah, nothing really
too crazy. Jalen Hurts did the Jalen Hurts thing after
the game. My man is calm, cool and collected, talked

(02:07:27):
about coffee beans, talked about rat poison, and talked about
everybody wanting the football and.

Speaker 9 (02:07:33):
About solving anything. Everybody has a reason to want more,
you know, it's a fair desire of being in food
and as to what we can be because we've done it,
just got to build, got to progress, have to find
a way to come together and come and sink as
a unit and play complimentary ball.

Speaker 1 (02:07:47):
All right. So that's where we left it on Sunday
after the win over Carolina. Right, Hey see, if these
grown men can work it out. I didn't even think
much of it. In fact, I was looking back at
my notes from a Sunday night show and Arnie kind
of dismissed it. I kind of dismissed it. It was
just a you know, grown men, they'll figure it out.
And then during his radio show this week, Brandon Graham

(02:08:10):
kind of took it to another level.

Speaker 5 (02:08:12):
I don't know the whole story, but I know that
one is trying and I mean, I Levin could be
a little better with how he respond to things.

Speaker 1 (02:08:21):
And I know I don't have to clarify this, but
I'm just going to because it can be a little
bit confusing, confusing when Brandon Graham says, you know, one
is better, he's talking about Jalen Hurts, right one, the
number one? Was that necessary?

Speaker 10 (02:08:35):
Maybe not?

Speaker 1 (02:08:36):
Anyway, here's the rest of it, and they were.

Speaker 2 (02:08:38):
Friends before this.

Speaker 1 (02:08:39):
He's like, man, but things have changed.

Speaker 5 (02:08:41):
And I understand that because life happens. But it's the
business side that we have to make sure that we
don't let the personal get in the way of the business.
And that's what we got to do better as right now,
because we know it's an issue everybody's seen with some things.
But we need to, Yeah, but to talk talk things

(02:09:01):
out as men, you know what I'm saying. But we
need to let personal stuff go and let's get right
for this game. Because man, it's like a lot of stuff.
Most of the time, it's just a conversation that you
just need to be had. But the person with the
problem got to want to talk to the person other
than others.

Speaker 1 (02:09:16):
Oh, that's all I'm saying. So I brought this up
last night, absolutely nobody was on my side. So I'm
going to try one more time, Shay again. I know
you're over this. I get it. Mark's over it too,
because he had to hear me talk about it last night.
But whenever you hear somebody that's a teammate say that, like,

(02:09:38):
I don't know how personal you can get about not
getting the football unless there's some sort of financial incentive
attached that aj Brown feels like he's not going to
meet When you start talking about personal, I mean that
that seems like something way beyond football that's a problem here.
So am I reading too much into this When I
say something like, hey, you can say give me the football,

(02:10:01):
you can say passing and all this. But when you
have a teammates say they used to be good and
doesn't need to be getting personal, I mean that leads
me to believe something else is deeper going on here.
Could be wrong, but I'll tell you what, I'm an
absolute firm believer that a locker room can figure it out.

Speaker 2 (02:10:22):
Did they figure it out?

Speaker 1 (02:10:23):
This week. Here's what their head coach said, Nick Sirianni
on AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts working to get better together.

Speaker 22 (02:10:32):
Let's just talk about Jalen and Age. I see them
working to get better. I see them working to get
better together. I know there was assumptions of things, and
we get how that goes. But I can only go
on my personal experience of how these guys interact every
single day. And these guys are so locked in and
focused to getting better and getting better together. So they're

(02:10:52):
on the same page to go and accomplish the things
we want to accomplish. And I witness that every single day.

Speaker 1 (02:10:58):
All right, So Nick Sirianni talking about Jalen and Aj.
That seems good. Then you had Aj Brown give this,
I guess you could say statement this week. BG is
just being BG is emotional.

Speaker 7 (02:11:13):
In that case, he's just misspoke. You know, a man,
Jayleen good. Everybody loves BG.

Speaker 1 (02:11:18):
You know he's speaking from the heart.

Speaker 7 (02:11:19):
You know, he's just giving this perception.

Speaker 1 (02:11:22):
To something on the outside. All right, So there you go,
there is Aj Brown saying BG, Brandon Graham, We're good.
It's fine. He's speaking from the heart. He wants to
win Jalen Hurts and I are good. Are you buying
that side of it and that they got over it
or that there's something deeper one other angle on this.
Here's what Donovan McNabb, Eagles legend, had to say whenever

(02:11:44):
he was asked about it this week.

Speaker 11 (02:11:46):
Look, man, it's too grown men. It's too grown men.
If you got an issue, you come to me. Let's
not go through a media. And so if you got
to issue, this conversation needs to be had.

Speaker 12 (02:11:56):
Betweme, me and you and Mint we had.

Speaker 11 (02:11:58):
That conversation with the play, but let's not go through
the media because it now it blows up and then
now all of a sudden you put it in the
microphone back in his mouth, and then all of a sudden,
now it because well I didn't mean it that way,
and I you know, I was saying this, and you
know because now what you said is out there in
front of everybody. So now either you're going to back
your statement and make situations worse, or you're gonna now correct.

Speaker 3 (02:12:23):
It and say this is what I meant.

Speaker 11 (02:12:26):
And then even though that you may say it that way,
it's still gonna make the situation look worse. Yeah, Now,
if there was an issue, yes, let's have that conversation. Hey,
receiving a quarterback. We can have a grown that conversation,
and then we can have that conversation with the coordinator
or the head coach.

Speaker 2 (02:12:43):
That's where I was taking one.

Speaker 1 (02:12:45):
I had taken aback on this, and that's why that's
why I just I don't know, Shaye, help me out,
let me know if I'm wrong. That's where I thought
for a while there might be something deeper than football here,
But I guess in the end there really isn't. It
was just postgame frustrating, and when you compounded with Brandon
Graham's radio show, it just adds fuel to probably something

(02:13:07):
that really wasn't that big of a fire.

Speaker 7 (02:13:10):
Yeah, I mean it's he came in because exactly, he
just added field to the fire. And I think he
was like, oh, this is a good time for me
to maybe show that this is my media side. I
could also talk like this, and he did a good
job of that exactly, And he did do a good
job of it. A lot of people were clicking it
and we ate it like it was a bag of
French fries. But I again, what I was saying is

(02:13:34):
is basically, Yeah, it's just it got overblown. I'm sure
he regretted, saying Aj Brown regretted saying passing. I mean,
I don't even think he meant like Jalen hurts his passing,
just like as a team, we need to get better
at passing or maybe pass more. Like I don't think
he even was going at Jalen Hurt, as Huger.

Speaker 1 (02:13:50):
Saying, in other words, it might have been more of
the design than it was the execution. So when he's
like passing, it's like, we got to pass the ball
more exactly.

Speaker 7 (02:13:57):
And it's like and he Jalen Hurts just happens to
be the quarterback, you know what I mean. And yeah,
I don't think there was anything there, just like ever,
it's just like looking over it, I was like, oh,
this is just something that got like blown over way
too much, you know.

Speaker 1 (02:14:10):
Yeah, I'm stupid about it for some reason. No, it's fine.
All here's where the deep issues should be. If it's
not Jalen and AJ's relationship, it's got to be the
fact that the Eagles just haven't asked Jalen to push
the ball down the field. I still think this stat
seems fake, but he has attempted just two passes of

(02:14:33):
twenty plus air yards in his last four games. That's
the fewest of thirty quarterbacks who have thrown at least
fifty passes during that span.

Speaker 2 (02:14:44):
It's a lot of numbers.

Speaker 1 (02:14:46):
I guess. The point is they're not pushing the ball
down the field, and the Eagles offense is averaging its
fewest pass attempts per game since nineteen seventy eight. And
to kind of give you an idea on a little
perspective on how things have shifted, if you look back
to weeks one through ten, that air yard stat that
I gave you, where you'd attempted just two of them, Well,

(02:15:09):
in the first ten games of the season, he'd attempted
thirty one, which was right in middle of the pack,
about fifteenth amongst quarterbacks the two, as we brought up
his DFL, the fewest of any of the thirty quarterbacks
that have attempted as many passes as Jalen Hurts fifty
or more. So it doesn't necessarily have to be are

(02:15:30):
they friends?

Speaker 11 (02:15:32):
Right?

Speaker 2 (02:15:32):
Can aj Brown and Jalen Hurts coexist?

Speaker 22 (02:15:35):
Now?

Speaker 1 (02:15:35):
It might be a deeper issue, like, in other words,
is there something really wrong with Eagles passing attack and
can it be fixed in time to make a run? Oh,
by the way, very chiefs ask they're doing all this
in the midst of winning nine straight games, so yeah,
it's rough. Hey, before we break, I want to I
want to shoehorn this sin. Josh Helmer is going to

(02:15:56):
join us next A guess that's right at four am
on Fox Sports Radio, let's go. Last night on the show.
This may be paying off a twenty four hour tease,
but last night on the show, I was intrigued by
I guess it was a piece of sound that made
it into our archives and it was Roger Cadell, and

(02:16:17):
I got to be I don't know where this was from,
but the idea of the eighteen game schedule, which I
think is something that we'll continue to ask about over
the next whenever, because I think everyone feels like it's anevitability. Wow,
that's a hard word to say. It's inevitability in the NFL.
Roger Goodell though, this week, when thinking about the future

(02:16:39):
in an eighteen game schedule set, hold up here, not
so fast.

Speaker 20 (02:16:43):
We are doing analysis, I would say, but we are
not formalizing any plans at this point. We want to
make sure that when we do sit down with the union,
we can share that analysis, talk about it, talk about
ways to address certain aspects of that, so that we
do it upper way. I think, you know, we learned
something when we went from sixteen to seventeen. If we

(02:17:04):
do go to eighteen, I'm sure we'll learn something. But
hopefully some of the learnings from the last time will
help us.

Speaker 1 (02:17:10):
Some of the learnings from last time will help us.
My feeling on this, the NFL is playing two games
on Christmas Day and it's a Wednesday.

Speaker 2 (02:17:19):
Why are they doing that?

Speaker 1 (02:17:20):
Because Christmas Day has become an absolute jackpot ratings wise
for the NFL, and they're printing money right now. They're
gonna find a way. They're gonna find a way, and
when they do it, everyone's gonna be fired up because
you're gonna have the Super Bowl Sunday that followed up
on the President's Day weekend. And I think that's pretty cool,

(02:17:42):
a three day weekend, which is what I think, truly
the super Bowl deserves. All Right, We'll have plenty of
time to talk about that during the off season, throughout
free agency in the draft, but by god, we got
games to talk about I got my Plank parlay coming up.
Before we get out of here. We got more to
get to from the college. But when we come back,
my buddy Josh Helmer joins us right here on Fox

(02:18:03):
Sports Radio, Andy Furman, Bucky Brooks coming up next. They've
got you from five to seven am Central time, but
you got to make sure you're locked in the entire
four hours of Bucky and then right into count Down
to Kickoff presented by bet MGM starting at ten am Eastern,
nine am Central, seven am Pacific, Brian O, Jeff Schwartz,

(02:18:27):
and professional better Bill Krackenberger. We'll have you covered three
hours before kickoff. That's every Sunday morning. Listen to count
Down to Kickoff, presented by Bet MGM right here on
Fox Sports Radio and on the iHeartRadio app. So Josh
Helmer is my co host on my local show and
does a myriad of things beyond just talking college football

(02:18:47):
every day on our affiliate in Oklahoma Carry. But Josh,
I do want to talk and good morning. Thanks for
joining us late at night. Appreciate it. It's great to
be with you. Plank.

Speaker 2 (02:18:58):
Yeah, I am.

Speaker 1 (02:19:00):
These hours are sometimes crazy, so I appreciate the magic
and making this conversation with you happen. But how weird
has it been covering college football over the last couple
of years. Josh and I had done a show together
since twenty sixteen, and we've seen everything change in college football? Right,
So how wild is it right now to see this
world we live in where when the season's over, we're

(02:19:20):
doing nothing but talking about transfer portal and true real
life free agency. It's crazy, isn't it?

Speaker 6 (02:19:26):
It is?

Speaker 1 (02:19:26):
It's funny, you know.

Speaker 21 (02:19:28):
This week, a couple of folks chimed in saying, you know,
how sustainable is this model for college football where you know, look,
we don't know a lot of what players earn, and
it is free agency after every season, And really it's
not you know, free agency where guys have three year
deals and then they're a free agent. It feels like

(02:19:48):
it's a one year deal in free agency for everybody.
Having said that, as crazy as wild West as it
is for us, for this, oh my gosh, it's great
for college creation, for.

Speaker 1 (02:19:59):
Com bring it. It's so much content that you that
you get to cover. If you're not like a blue blood,
diehard fan and your mindset is I hate this right now?
Because I hate the way that it's going. Right, we
should never pay players. If that's not you, the dude,
this is awesome right now, right your team. Look at Indiana.
Indiana is playing in the playoffs after being like a

(02:20:23):
one win team last year. Colorado was knocking on the
door of the playoffs. Arizona State was terrible last year. Now,
some of these are the breaks of schedules, and you know,
an I don't just think you back your way to
ten and two if you're in Arizona State. But the
point is you can go from being a very mediocre
to bad team and Josh find yourself in the playoff
mix just with a couple of key additions. It's crazy.

Speaker 21 (02:20:46):
It didn't wind up that way late because of the
loss to Syracuse and stubbing the toe earlier. But you know,
for Miami they're right there, and nearly it was the
addition of cam Ward, so you know, the core back position,
of course, can flip things in a hurry for you.
But with Indiana, you go when you get Curtis Rourke,

(02:21:06):
somebody that not a lot of people would have thought,
you know, coming over from Ohio is going to do
the kind of things that he did at Indiana, and
rapidly you can overhaul things. You can go from zero
to hero in a hurry in this transfer portal era.
So it creates some some fun narratives at times. And
obviously we've seen some some radical turnarounds in a hurry.

Speaker 1 (02:21:29):
You know, we've you and I and covering basically the
SEC in Oklahoma for our show. It's been kind of
wild to see the news that's been taking place beyond
our little bubble. And I still am in shock that
Bill Belichick has a head college football coach. I know,
I know there's a lot of writers that are now saying, hey,

(02:21:49):
those who really covered him close saw this coming and
thought there'd be a pretty good idea that he would
coach college football. I don't know about you, Bro, I'm
still in like absolute shock that we're talking about North
Carolina head football coach Bill Belichick.

Speaker 21 (02:22:02):
It felt as though at first maybe it was angling
to try and let NFL clubs know, hey, I'm still
open for business.

Speaker 1 (02:22:10):
I'd like to be an NFL head coach again.

Speaker 21 (02:22:13):
Right, it's wrapping your brain around the idea that Bill
Belichick was legitimately going to be a head college football coach.
It didn't seem like a destination we'd really get to
the conclusion on. And yet as this thing kept progressing
with North Carolina, you realize, okay, well it is more
NFL light than ever before. And yes, Bill Belichick, the

(02:22:37):
magnetic pull, the gravity that he has, he's the he's
one of the few guys playing where you know, because
he's Bill Belichick. Somebody made the remark to me earlier
this week that, well, you know, do these recruits really
know about Bill Belichick. You know, he hasn't been the
Patriots head coach in a little while. He's one of
those select few guys like a Nick Safe been. And

(02:22:59):
maybe there's other coaches you could mention in another sports
that I don't know that you know, he needed to
be coaching last week for his gravitational pull to have
the kind of effect that it could have at North
Carolina in this nil in this transfer portal era. So
while it sounded crazy initially with Bill Belichick, the Super
Bowl rings everything that he is and how quickly you

(02:23:21):
can transform.

Speaker 1 (02:23:22):
Something color be intrigued.

Speaker 21 (02:23:24):
I'm not gonna say that he's taken him to the
College Football Playoff next season or the following year or whatever.
I know, he's got his four hundred page document and
his five year plan, but color be intrigued.

Speaker 1 (02:23:35):
Yeah, me too. I don't know if it's gonna work
because there is so much more that's involved in it now, right.
But I mean from a pure football perspective, buddy, I mean,
if you're trying to make up your mind about where
you're gonna play college football, what a sales piece it
is to say, oh, yeah, Bill Belichick. I wonder if

(02:23:55):
he knows how to get me ready for the league.
Oh guess what dude's got like rings on every finger
seemingly right now? What a sales pitch that's going to be.

Speaker 21 (02:24:04):
There's no doubt it's a sales pitch that nobody else
can make. Nick Saban again would be the one guy
if he was still coaching that his rings in college football,
of course, would be comparable to Bill Belichick. But there's
nobody like Bill Belichick now in college football.

Speaker 1 (02:24:21):
With his Super Bowl rings.

Speaker 22 (02:24:23):
Ye.

Speaker 2 (02:24:24):
Man, I'm just I'm still incomplete.

Speaker 1 (02:24:27):
I mean, it's no bs, dude. I mean, if you
would have told me that Bill Belichick, if Josh Hipel
got fired took over at Tennessee or Bill Belichick was
the next guy at Bama. Makes sense Bill Belichick in
North Carolina. I just I don't know. Didn't we do
this before? Didn't Bill Walsh go to Stanford after his
career in the San Francisco forty nine ers when he

(02:24:48):
was supposed to be retired. And it's different, man, different.
I don't know if I'll get used to it. Josh
Helmer is our guest.

Speaker 11 (02:24:54):
Josh.

Speaker 1 (02:24:54):
In addition to you and I doing a show together
on our affiliate in Oklahoma, you cover the NFL's is anyone,
especially if at raiderswire dot com. Part of this reason
for me waking you up and coming on with us
is that I need some therapy with what's going on
in Vegas right now. Surprisingly, I'm mad they're two and eleven,
But in the same vein it's like, am I crazy

(02:25:16):
if I still believe that Antonio Pierce can be a
good and a winning head coach. No, I don't think
you're crazy.

Speaker 6 (02:25:22):
You know.

Speaker 21 (02:25:23):
Obviously this has not been a great endorsement of that note,
with the way that things have totally spiraled from the
two and two start, and now you know, when somebody
a couple of weeks ago would have said, hey, I
think that the Raiders might legitimately lose out You think, no, sure,
they're gonna pick off one two somewhere, and now all

(02:25:45):
of a sudden you look up and yeah, they legitimately
might lose out here in this NFL season.

Speaker 1 (02:25:50):
So that's of course not a great endorsement.

Speaker 21 (02:25:52):
But you know, the one thing for Antonio Pierce is
he was not given a healthy deck of at all
the quarterback situation, even if it was healthy, and it
has not been. With the season ending injury to Gardner Minshew,
we thought for a moment maybe there was another season
ending injury to aid and O'Connell, but even Aidan O'Connell

(02:26:14):
before that, Plank had had been sidelined on the IR
for you know, an extended period of time. So the
quarterback situation, with the injuries and before that, just being
totally unsettled, you didn't go get the free agent quarterback
that you needed to really go into this season thinking
that you were going to be any kind of a factor.

Speaker 1 (02:26:32):
In the AFC West or the AFC big picture.

Speaker 21 (02:26:35):
So for that reason, I say, sure, if you get
the right quarterback in there, there's obviously a lot of
retooling that needs to happen for the Raiders, but I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:26:44):
I don't know that he's going to get that chance.

Speaker 21 (02:26:45):
That's going to be a fascinating storyline I think to
follow in the next little bit.

Speaker 1 (02:26:49):
Yeah, I did, two I did too, and I have
another interesting theory to post. I really like both Shador
Sanders and cam Ward, but I unlike you. I think
the Raiders might back in a few wins here. I
think that they could be I think they could beat
Atlanta on Monday Net Football. Atlanta's reeling and they're not
going to go with Pinnis. I think they could beat
Jacksonville and I don't think the Giants are gonna win

(02:27:11):
another game this year. So two things here real quick
on the Raiders. Raiderswire dot com is where you can
find all of Josh just work covering the NFL. Number one,
is there a chance that they have to start looking
at bottom of the first round guys, in other words,
the Quinn viewers of the world, the Jalen Milroe. I
don't know if Jalen Milroe is going to declare for

(02:27:32):
the draft, but if he does, I would assume it's
now GARRETTNS Meyers going back to LSU, so he was
always intriguing to me. But do they have to start
because I theorize I don't think they ever recovered from
the way the quarterback situation played out last year in
the draft. I think when Atlanta took Pinnis, I think
it threw the Raiders for a loop. I really firmly

(02:27:54):
believe that because I think they were said on Pinnicks
are bow Nicks. They can't let that happen again, right,
So I mean to me, I feel like it's gonna
be Ward or Sanders, and if the Raiders win some games,
they're gonna mortgage their future to move up, and they should.
But should they also evaluate maybe if there's a better
fit or do you think this is a Shador Sanders
to Vegas slam dunk?

Speaker 21 (02:28:16):
Well, I think it's Shadoor Sanders or cam Ward one
or the other once we get to the NFL Draft
and all of the dust settles on it. But that
being said, it would be franchise malpractice to not be
kicking the tires on every single quarterback option that they
think could be a possibility, dependent upon the way the

(02:28:37):
rest of this thing plays out. I think that I
don't think Vegas is winning enough games down the stretch
to fall out of the top five per se, So
I think that there's a good chance they're going to
be right there where they need to be to if
they got to move up to get one of those
two quarterbacks, they're going to be maneuverable to do that.

Speaker 1 (02:28:57):
So I think it's either Sanders or Ward.

Speaker 21 (02:29:00):
But just you know, simply to answer the question, I mean,
come on, you gotta be looking at all these guys,
I think with where the Raiders are at, because the
number one issue for them is we've got to find
the franchise guy.

Speaker 1 (02:29:11):
We haven't had them since Derek Carr left. We got
to go find him. And and as you and I
have talked about quite a bit in another world, we
were gonna start our podcast called AFC Best, Right, our
AFC West AFC Best, that's the West. Yeah, you've you've
you know you're from the witch Dawg, Kansas area. You're

(02:29:31):
a Chief Skuy, I'm a Raiders guy. We got friends
that are DIALD Broncos fans and shared just fans that
we work with. The bottom line is, if you're the
Raiders at number one, has been proven you can't stop
my Homes right Suddenly it seems like the Chargers got
things figured out with with Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert
and you know, again there's still a lot to be
determined on bow Nicks, but.

Speaker 2 (02:29:53):
The early returns with Sean Payton pretty good, feel right.

Speaker 1 (02:29:57):
So the point, more than anything else is you got
to get your court situation taken care of because hatchwork
is not going to beat those three teams at the
quarterback position. Just not going to happen.

Speaker 21 (02:30:07):
We fall in love in the NFL and fall out
of love, by the way, in the NFL very very quickly.
But looking at this AFC West picture, we know about
Patrick Mahomes, we know about Kansas City. You know, are
they gonna track down Brady and you know, win a
bunch of more super Bowls? We'll see about all that, right,
It's tough to win super bowls, but I think we
know that winning the AFC West being in that picture,

(02:30:30):
being in the mix for deep postseason runs and super Bowls,
we know that Kansas City is going to be that
as long as Mahomes is there and Reid is there
and Mahomes is healthy. Bo Nicks, it looks like, yes,
the diver Broncos have found their guy. I think that clearly.
You know, the Chargers now are in a better direction.
So you look around the NFL and you kind of go,

(02:30:51):
you know, division by division, and yes, where.

Speaker 1 (02:30:54):
We're existing in today, though this can change again rapidly.

Speaker 21 (02:30:57):
The AFC West looks like one of the best divisions
on paper, I think for the next at least happen
to a decade, right you look at it. So, yeah,
from that standpoint, if I'm looking at it from a
Raiders perspective, you know, quarterback, of course, you always have
a premium there, but their necessity to go find a
star quarterback when maybe the Broncos have hit on bow

(02:31:19):
Nicks and you like what you have in Herbert and
mahomes is, you know, probably the best quarterback on planet Earth.

Speaker 1 (02:31:24):
Yeah, they got to find the right guy.

Speaker 2 (02:31:27):
Before I let you go, we got a great slate
of games coming up today.

Speaker 1 (02:31:30):
Man, this is one of those weird Sundays that very
rarely happens where there's not a lot of intriguing games
in that early window. I mean, I'll be watching Kansas
City at Cleveland just because you know, Jamis is going
to do something crazy and where we are in the
Bible Belt, We're going to get the Cowboys crammed down
our throat.

Speaker 2 (02:31:50):
But that afternoon window Indy at Denver. Dude, look at
indy schedule.

Speaker 1 (02:31:55):
If they win, if they beat Denver tomorrow, Indy's got
a great chance to make the playoffs. Buffalo's at Detroit,
Steelers at the Eagles, Hamps at Los Angeles for the Chargers,
your Sunday night football game, the game later on this evening,
Green Bay, Seattle. I mean, this is one of the
better afternoon slash primetime Sundays that we've had. Man, it's great.

Speaker 21 (02:32:16):
Yeah, that Indy Denver game is very important for Indianapolis,
very important for Denver. But yeah, teams like Miami and
Cincinnati that are trying to think about can we close
this season and make a push for that number seven slot.
It's going to impact a lot of folks beyond just
Denver and Indianapolis.

Speaker 2 (02:32:36):
Well, Josh, thank you.

Speaker 1 (02:32:37):
I know this is very very early in the morning
for you, but we appreciate you finding time for us
here on Fox Sports Radio. And enjoy the rest of
your vacation, Blake anytime, my friend, appreciate it. Hi is
my guy Josh Almer. You can follow him on Twitter
at Josh on ref. He's that weird mix of someone
who grew up a Chiefs fan but covers the Raiders,

(02:32:58):
and I think he's adding the forty nine ers to
that kind of resume as well. Here soon, all right,
I'm very excited. I've got my pick segment coming up next,
which basically means I've got to go six to zero
because I'm giving you two can't miss parlays.

Speaker 2 (02:33:16):
Now, I want to be clear, I do not live in.

Speaker 1 (02:33:19):
A state where gambling is illegal, so I can't say
that I'm gonna bet these games. I feel like that's
a necessary disclaimer in today's world. But if I could,
I absolutely would, and I'll give it to you next
right here on Fox Sports Radio. Can't believe it's our
last segment. It's her last segment, right, Shay, it's her
last segment, right, Mark, were there look at us? Let's

(02:33:42):
not let's not try to spike the ball before we
cross the goal line. I try to tear down the
goalpost before the game's over. I had a segment carved
out tonight for the quarterback off season before I get
my picks. Shay, what is your feel on your Browns
because in everything I've read it seems like it's Deshaun

(02:34:06):
Watson again next year. Is that what you're feeling?

Speaker 7 (02:34:10):
Yeah? Sorry, so sucks.

Speaker 1 (02:34:13):
I put the Browns still though, as one of nine
teams who could have a possible quarterback change next year.

Speaker 2 (02:34:22):
Two for certain, going on this list right now, you
tell me if you're buying or selling.

Speaker 1 (02:34:26):
Okay, two for certain right, Raiders, Giants right now, likely
one two picks in the draft. The Raiders are starting
Desmond Ritter I think on Monday night, and one of
the Giants going back to Tommy DeVito here, they're gonna
have a different and I don't think either starting quarterback
that open the season is on their roster right now.
So you buy that with the Raiders and the Giants

(02:34:48):
as certain changes. Certain it's happening, But you got the Jets, Steelers, Browns, Titans, Vikings, Saints, Carolina,
Seattle and maybe the so Cleveland. You're kind of host.
Aaron Rodgers is forty one, but you're not really that

(02:35:09):
hamstrung financially by his deal right now. There's a thirty
five million dollar roster bonus that's due. He's a forty
nine million dollar cap hit, but there's no years on
the contract beyond twenty twenty five, and he can be
a post June one cut and you can split up
that cap hit over two years. Would you buy or

(02:35:29):
sell Aaron Rodgers Shay as the starting quarterback for New
York next year?

Speaker 2 (02:35:33):
The Jets?

Speaker 7 (02:35:34):
He's gonna start next year?

Speaker 1 (02:35:35):
Okay? Steelers Russell Wilson one year, one point five million
dollar deal. Of course, it helps when the Broncos are
playing paying a majority of that freight. Is Russell Wilson
still the starting quarterback at Pittsburgh next year? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (02:35:52):
Yeah, Okay, he's so, and.

Speaker 1 (02:35:54):
We've we've all agreed that, hey, this is what's going
to happen with the Browns. So that's so take that away.
What about the Titans? Will Levis? Has he claimed the job?
He has one win this year? Well, and the Titans
have only won like four or five games, but he's
got one win this year in a game where he
started and finished. See, I think Tennessee's a place where

(02:36:16):
like a Sam Darnold could end up right.

Speaker 7 (02:36:18):
Yeah, Yeah, that's that's what I was about to say.
I could definitely see I don't see them drafting a quarterback,
but I see them getting someone with a little bit
of experience, so will Lovitz can take a seat kind
of has someone Yeah, maybe Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 1 (02:36:30):
Well, speaking of that, I guess I need to add
Atlanta to this list, don't.

Speaker 7 (02:36:34):
I, because that's that's the whole thing right now. I
mean they're taking it slow, but I mean next season,
if you're just keeping him on the bench, that's like
Mike Pinnix.

Speaker 1 (02:36:43):
Yeah, I don't have it Lanta on this list. You're right,
you have to add at Lanta to this list. The
Vikings has Dnald been so good that they can't move on.
Here was their offensive coordinator Wes Phillips talking about Sam's decision.
I would hope he.

Speaker 23 (02:37:00):
Would kind of say, Hey, the body of work that
I've I've put in so far is going to take
care of the future.

Speaker 1 (02:37:05):
So really all I need to worry.

Speaker 23 (02:37:08):
About is right now, you know, I think we all
know that, you know, Sam is gonna going to be
sought after type of type of guy from wherever.

Speaker 11 (02:37:19):
That may be.

Speaker 23 (02:37:20):
So you know, whatever his future ends up being is
is I know all of us in this building are
gonna be happy for him, no matter no matter where
that ends up being. So I don't think he has
to worry about that anymore. I think the worry might
have been, Okay, this is my opportunity to play. All right,

(02:37:40):
He's past all that, he's proven the doubters, and he's
proven that he can play in this league. So let's
just make this the best possible season we can have.

Speaker 1 (02:37:51):
There's certain assistance. When you hear them talk, You're like, yeah,
I get it, why that guy's never been a head
coach before, But that kind of I think Minnesota, what
is really being careful here? Really careful because I think
they know JJ might need more time. I think Darnald's
going to be back. I think they're going to franchise
tag him Carolina, Seattle, the Rams at the Falcons to

(02:38:13):
that list ten possible quarterback changes, twelve, then potentially total.
But I'm with you. We can go ahead and cross
all the Jets, Steelers, Browns, Titans, Vikings, maybe the Saints too, which,
by the way, we didn't get to it, but shout
out to the guy that thought the Saints should just
go ahead and tank to try to get arch Manning
twenty twenty six. Yeah, let's let's tank for a guy

(02:38:36):
that number one we haven't seen play a full college season,
and then also don't even know if he's going to
declare for the draft in twenty twenty six. Brilliant. They
should pay you all the money for that. Take for
the New Orleans plan, all right, planks parlay, here we go.
No guarantees, no guarantees, but I like it a lot.

(02:38:58):
Give me the combination of Arizona minus six against New England,
Cleveland plus the four against Kansas City, and I'll take
Houston minus the three against Miami. My player prop parlay.
Give me Jade Daniels under two one hundred and twenty
four yards passing, Josh Jacob's over sixty nine and a

(02:39:23):
half rushing You heard that right, that's a scary one.
And James Cooks James Cook over forty nine and a half.
You want a couple of other props to keep an
eye on bo Nick's under passing yards two forty nine
and a half, Jamis Winston over thirty four and a
half passing attempts, and David Montgomery over fifteen and a

(02:39:45):
half receiving yards. Sounds like money to me. Great job,
Shay Mark, Love you, buddy, have a great week. Stick
around because Buck, he's got you covered for like the
next four hours. And he kicks it off with Andy
Furman next right here on Fox Sports Radio.
