Speaker 1 (00:01):
You don't listening to Fox Sports Radio Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Well, good morning, good morning, good morning, happy happy Fox Football, Saturday,
October eighteenth, As we get into the week of the
NFL Jeff Schwartz Anthony Goargan from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
But as it is a wild football weekend, we'll get
(00:26):
into what happened last night the caves go down. We
got to talk about show hey to start the show,
because three home runs, ten strikeouts in a dub is historic.
We don't This is ruthian number. Ruthian performance on the
grand stage of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium last night,
(00:50):
not one, not two, but three. Show Hey, bombs, Good morning, Jeffrey,
Good morning, sir.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Are going to be back with you. Yeah, they'll be
playing football, talk about. This is gonna be a wild
weekend of college football. By the way, I mean, this
schedule sets up. We already saw last night. It's gonna
be it's gonna be crazy today. Ranked games. There's eight
ranked teams on the road against unranked teams. We already
saw one lose last night. It's gonna be crazy. But
(01:19):
you're right, look what we saw last night. I'm showing, Antony,
is the best individual performance in playoff history. It might
it might honestly be the best in the performance in
baseball history.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
Not only did he did.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
He clinch his teams, you know, the pennant for his team.
Not only did he strike out ten hit three home runs,
he hit a ball over the pavilion in Los Angeles.
There's like four players have done that during a game
in the history of the stadium that this name is
from nineteen sixty one or.
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Something like that.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
His performance last night, these weren't like, oh, maybe their
home runs, they were Bob's.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Bro.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
He he hit the ball so far and so long.
He he is so good.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Look and I hate the Dodgers with as many times
I want to hate show him. He's a Giant fan.
I'm a Giant fan. I want to hate because I
hate the Dodgers. But he's also like the nicest human ever.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Bro.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
He the other day he bows to opponents, he claps
their hands, he shakes their hands like he's such a
nice person too. On top of all this, it makes
it so much more fun to root for him. And
what did last night was just incredible. It was incredible
sports moments or game, whatever you want to call it.
Every home run progressively felt bigger and bigger. Uh, every
(02:42):
strike out, for he shout out the side to start
the inning and start the game and then hit a
home run like seven minutes later.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
I think about that. He has to, he has to.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
You know, most pictures obviously used to hit ninth right,
So you would, you would pitch and then you come in,
you rest a little bit, you go back out, and
then you hit no, No, shuts out the side, hut
runs back inside, puts on all his his protective gear,
get to the plate, and it's a lead up home run,
and all this is being done, mind you, by the way,
with a deferred contract. He's such a nice human. He decided,
(03:16):
you know what, Dodgers, I'm gonna take less money because
I already make a bunch of money and we're gonna
build a super team around me. So you know, it's
just an incredible player. The all counts a good person obviously,
you know, I do wanna he is pretty hot, like
you know, obviously, one of the best games of all time.
I do want to find out his college football picks
(03:37):
for today, though, I kind of feel like he's he's
the guy, like he want to you want a tail today.
Right's good weekend for him.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
We'll see what if he has he has well, I
don't think we should we should be talking about showing and.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Uh, he he's dude, he's so much fun to watch.
Man is a mutant. I don't know how else to
put into words what we saw from him last night.
Speaker 4 (03:58):
It was incredible. No, no, you're right. It's why I've
thoroughly enjoyed them. And you know, it's funny.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
He's been quiet this entire postseason. He was quiet in
the first round against the Phillies. Quiet, it wasn't hidden quiet.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Thinking about that, think about how think about how many
teams their best player is not playing well. And mind you,
he's not the only Dodgor that wasn't hitting, and they
would still discuffing. And the Dodgers are so deep and
so good they can basically have a couple of their
best players not hit.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
A million dollar payroll or whatever it is, eight million
dollar payroll.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Well you are you counting what show he's making now
or what he's actually working whatever.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
They have the number one payroll by a million, by millions.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
It's crazy because again, they're not even dude, they're not
even paying not half the guys. A couple of the
guys are have deferred contracts. They're not even paying them
right now with their.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Worst and listen, God blessed the way they structure it,
it works for them.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
Allows that by the way that they allow, they allow
different contracts still because I guess it don't care. But
obviously that's giving a team a huge idea. We used
to cover a guy named Bobby Benilla. Oh yeah, he
has the best deal into.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
All sports and he and every I forget what day
my first July first? Right the contract. I literally wrote
the story about it, the uh the Bobby Benia day.
And he was brilliant like bo was was. It was
a brilliant dude, like his agent smart. He's like, listen,
(05:34):
I want to be taking care of the rest of
my life. So you would get a huge check.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Get it right, every July it's one point it's one
point three five million every every July.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
First.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
This was nineties. He signed this deal, so you know, crazy,
Oh good for him, good for him.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
Yeah, but again, I I don't know how to explain
show hate anyone. You mentioned Babe Booth, I mean sure,
I guess I mean guy put one hundred years ago,
and I don't there's there's an even equivalent to what
he's doing now. And the Dodgers are freight trade now.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
Seattle's gonna be fun. I think Seattle will win. We'll
find out.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
Obviously gave him six and seven, but Saddle's actually might
present them a little bit of trouble. I'm kind of
curious to see that matchup. I think so too.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Seattle was my pick to win it, like I took
Seattle to win it. I like their bats. I think
they have really good pitching now. The Dodgers pitching is
absurd now, but they got all their starters back and
they filled out their bullpenales with it, you know, but
you know it'll be a big dog Mariners.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
They got to go. They gotta get through to Jay. Still.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Still, the Mariners have the ability because of what we
talked about a lot where they they get all the
big hits, and I think you you sort of need
the ability to hit home runs in the postseason, and
obviously last night with the with the home from Suarez,
but that's sort of what they are, right. But they
get cal Rawley had a big home run less to
tie the game first and the eighth inning. The ability
(07:07):
to get big hits is very important in my opinion
to have success in the postseason. It's not getting singles
and doubles. And that's what that's what I thought the Brewers,
and we've talked about the Brewers were just dead and
arrival because they just don't get a lot of big gets,
a lot of big home runs. They hit the ball well,
but they're not a home run team. But it's just
hard to train together singles and doubles. You need, you
(07:27):
need big Now, I agree with you.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
The fact that at Seattle at the deadline is able
to pick up Suarez and Nailor that's huge. Well yeah,
I mean because now all of a sudden, your lineup
became long and you got you got power, you got
left right power. You brought up the the cal rally
won the tie homer to tie it. Like you you're
(07:51):
always in the game. Is Suarez s It's a couple,
you know, the big momb You know that. That's that's baseball. Now,
you you've got to have power to win, now, dude,
is there anything.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Better than crowd shots after home runs? Like like the
crowd yea baseball crowds after home runs, dude, Like there's
just it's like a botmb explodes in the I mean
in the stadium of just noise and and just like emotion.
Because you know, I've said this before, like baseball to
me is the most stressful sport to watch in the
(08:27):
playoffs as a fan because every pitch it feels so
intense and my teammate is not there right now. I've
been there before as a Giants fan, where like every
single pitch you're like, oh boy, this is the pitch,
this is the one. It's also a sport where it
feels like when you're ahead, it's almost feels worse than
when you're behind. An interesting quirking about baseball, but you know,
(08:48):
like it just and so your Mariners are yesterday right,
their battle and their battle and their battle, and all
of a sudden they get the bait hit from from
from cal Rawly and they began from It just feels
like so every pitch, the wit and every pitch feels
so big in baseball, and it's just a different rooting
experience than it is for football or hockey or basketball.
In the post, heason has some lolls, right, they have
(09:10):
ups and downs, and you know, you know that there's
a little bit of time I think to breathe in
those sports and don't feel that way at all when
you're watching in baseball.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
No, it's uh, it's white It's a white knuckle watch,
is what it is.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Oh yeah, it's you're just no ways looking and you're like,
oh man, your heart's in.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
Your throat the whole game when it matters, which is
why you shouldn't rush through the postseason. You got to
let the playoffs breathe, like if they hadn't set up
like hockey basketball, where there's two months of playoffs.
Speaker 4 (09:47):
Man, that's theater.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
It's it's close though, it too much, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
No, it's a month.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
It just takes a month because they do three five seven, Right,
it's why right, Yeah, I don't know if we need it. Well,
it's funny we got to this point now because I
don't know if we need a month to determine the
National League I I you know, it's funny, like people
the favor you know, the one seed Brewers like, come on, man,
it's just the Dodgers, the one the best team in baseball.
(10:16):
They have the most depth, they're the most ways to win. Uh,
and they're the best player in the world. And look,
I am very fortunate to grow up and be a
Barry Bonds fan and watch him play baseball. You know,
we always have players that in every generation they're going
to surpass the previous generation. And I just never thought
we'd get somewhere like a guy like show Hey that
(10:37):
every time he hits, it's just it's must watch. I mean,
the ball can go, you go anywhere, and and you
just have to get to television to watch him play
because he's such a new talent.
Speaker 5 (10:49):
You know.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
Watching that it's why I love sports, right like you
and I are sports.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Junkies, like we just love like I love it, just
love it.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
And so watching and perform like I could find just
incredible joy and beauty. I mean, you mentioned earlier about Otani.
The I love the story of Otani that you know,
coming from this island in Japan, right, pretty remote place,
and he's like this wonder kid, right, like you know,
(11:24):
something that we've never seen before. A picture and a
hinter a power hinter right and a power picture and
great at both. It's so amazing the story and you're right,
the cultural aspects fascinating during this season there was a
there was the Dodgers were having a bra forget what
(11:44):
was with the Padres maybe I think it was the
Padres and they they got there was a the bench's
cleared and Showhy got hit right and he went to
the game. He went over to the to the dugout,
to the Padres dugout, and everybody's looking at him, like,
(12:06):
what's this dude doing? Like you want to you know,
you think he's going to challenge everybody. He's so nice,
just probably are bowed to them. He's he bowed to
that and was talking about respecting your.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
Opponent, and I just was like, lot, that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
We want to talk about a great lesson respecting your opponent.
Speaker 4 (12:26):
He was freaking outrageous. He bows to his opponents.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
He like says hi the umpires and the catcher and
shows respect to them. The thing about you know, obviously
him being Japanese and coming from the small he's also
just huge. He's a giant human that is different than
all other players we've seen come from Japan. And we've
had some obviously some incredible players come from Japan. He's
(12:53):
just different than all of them. Like he's just a
genetic freaking And you know, I've been fortunate enough to
play with some players that are like that in the
NFL obviously not baseball, And there's no explanation for.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
Why they are that way, they just are.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
And uh, when you're able to use your talent in
that way, it just and and be able to capitalize
on having that free show sort of body or free show.
It blows my mind, man, a lot of because a
lot of people in life don't take advantage of what
they have right sometimes, and he's taking full advantage of that.
And and added on how nice he is, you know,
as you mentioned, you know, bowing two opponents and and
(13:26):
shaking guy's hands and and not taking the game too seriously,
which I think is important because I think sometimes it
is a game and hope it's the postseason, so maybe
it's a little different. But he doesn't take the game.
In my he tasts it serious enough, but doesn't not
too serious right where he's not enjoying himself and not
smiling and having fun. And so I I like watching
(13:46):
the man, and I think he understands too how important
you know he is too to his culture.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
You know he does.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
I know people get pissed off sometimes when he does
this to the back on social media. We does his
postgame interviews in Japanese, but he does so everyone back
home can hear him right, Like he knows that's speaking English.
We know that we've heard Speakinglish before. But just like
people understanding, understanding that like his value and what it
means for his country and for I just love it, man.
I love everything that he's about. And I wish he
(14:15):
was not a Dodger. That would make me more happy,
but he's just he's I don't I'm just a fascinated
by Otawanni.
Speaker 4 (14:22):
Yeah, I am too.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
It's funny he said that because I actually feel say
exact way.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
I'm fascinated by it.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
There was anything like him in sports, like we just haven't.
We just he's unique and in our lifetime, we're not
gonna see anyone like him ever a yet.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
It's just that's just what it is.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
And and again he delivers in those big moments and
he's fun to watch it do it. And dude, he
hit up all four hundred and seventy feet yesterday. I
grew up going to Dodger games, okay, but the only
times the ball would leave the pavilion. Which is what
is you know, the bleachers and left and right field
they're they're smaller, right, they're just like one deck. So
Dodter said, it's huge. She's forty six styles. It's a
huge stadium. Five five decks behind, you know, five decks
(15:06):
basically from from uh from you know, left field to
right field.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
But you go down for people that don't know, like
you go down like to the field, like you take
you don't usually when you're a fan you go in
ground level and go up, but here you go down.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
Go down.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
It's built down into in the in the ravine. But
you know, but the outfield, it's just there's just two pavilions, right,
it's one level. I guess it maybe two levels, but
just one pavilion. They call it pavilions. And and no
one hits it over like McGuire did it once, like
d I think shred it, Sharbar did it. You know
we've had three tols did it. It's like just the
(15:47):
list is very very small. Players have actually put in
the pavilion and and so it's just in a playoff
game like this.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
Unbelievable, dude, incredible, absolutely incredible.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
All right, let's do this because we got lots to tackle.
This is a what been a wild week in college football.
It's going to get even great. We didn't even get
to talk about what happened at Penn State yet. Well
that's what I was referring to. It's it's wild. And
then last night the guy that gets I felt bad
(16:26):
for Matt Man. Oh my god, because Matt Ruhle has
been inundated with the Penn State stuff. And then he's like, dude,
I just want to we got a game Friday night
and then they lost last night.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Yeah, that was a time Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
That was that was like, that's a college football spot
that it's just hard to get a short week on
the road conference and all the noise, Man, the noise.
I it's someone who went through this with Oregon and
Mara Crystobaal.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
You know you think it's not gonna matter, Like the
noise is not going to matter. I do my favorite
set this.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
Let's say this because I want to we gotta take
care of some business and then I want you to
tell this story. This is fascinating, so I want the
story to breathe. I want to hear about this because
that's like you said, it's very real, very real. So
we'll tackle all that stuff. Lots and lots to talk
about today. Where the Fellas with Jeff Schwartz aka the

All right, buddy, Yes, it was a momentous week, crazy
week and begin college football, and it begins in Happy Valley.
After losing to it as a twenty point favorite for
(18:56):
this second consecutive week, the last that's never happened before
in the history college football, James Franklin gets booted, which.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
Is very rare to do in mid.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Season, Jeff, but Franklin, the whole fall from grace. What
was supposed to be a championship contender team lost three
in a row and just melted.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
So, you know, first time in like thirty years we
saw a team loose, you know, back to back weeks
as a twenty point plus favorite, right, is it the
first time in history?
Speaker 4 (19:35):
Now?
Speaker 3 (19:36):
I think that's the first time that we started since
people started keeping track of these things, like the databases
only go back so many years, right, I.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Think that somebody told me it was first one of
these gambling Yeah, yes, Berts, it's more about and I
think it's more about that that this is something that
we just haven't seen and since the databases began essentially right.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Right, So, okay, so Franklin gets fired. And two things here.
The first is, when you fire a coach, you have
to hire someone better. That's the goal, right. I don't
know right now of the options that are available, the
names out there that we have better than James Franklin,
But I think the idea is that James Frankly got stale, right,
(20:16):
and that someone else is just better. Like you need
just a different voice in the room, right, you need
something else to You need someone else to the years,
I know, okay, and he's failed at every big game.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
Listen, I like James. I know James. I like him.
I think he's, you know, a really good recruiter. I
think he relies too heavily on his coordinators.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
I think that's been an issue for him, and they
haven't won a big game.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
And and like, you can't blame Penn State for making
this move, you know, long overdue.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Right, So here's so mind you mentioned this because so
you see long overdue. And that's the thing that I
think I find so interesting about these, uh, these firings. Right, So,
from the outside, right, looking in, it seemed like everything
was going well at Penn State. Right, you had a
season where everyone essentially stayed right one last ride, We're
gonna stay trying to win a championship. We're going to
(21:13):
buy into what we're doing this season. You know in
twenty twenty three, right, everyone at Michigan and Washington State,
it was a big deal for them to stay, and
both teams made it in the championship game, and obviously
Michigan won, Washington was closed. But you know the story
in Washington everyone stayed right. Remember Penn next stayed the
wide receiver state, everyone stayed on defense. Last year at
Ohio State, everyone stayed right, everyone stayed behind. One more
(21:36):
year they win a championship. Guess what, they won a championship.
So that was Penn State's idea, right, was just everyone's
gonna stay and win a championship. Obviously didn't happen, not
gonna happen. Things got off the rails, and as soon
as he's fired, we start getting these stories, like you said,
right behind the scenes this night, and it's it's so
funny how everyone can start kept it quiet until he
(21:58):
got fired and then all the stories come out of about it.
How you know, maybe it wasn't great literature from James Franklin,
maybe there wasn't buying from everyone in the program. And look,
he did be fair. He did ask for a lot
of things and got them right. He got better fund
Me first program, he got the coordinators he wanted, he
got everything he wanted, and he didn't win, and there
was a lot of pressure on him to get it
done this year. But I always find interesting that after
(22:18):
the fact that we start getting all this stuff out,
we're like right now, by the way, like in Carolina,
we have a budget stuff out about Bill belchack now right,
and James Maglandre's nothing out, And then as soon as
he gets fired, everyone says, I knew there were problems.
Speaker 4 (22:31):
I knew this that I just a problem.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
I got to sit because now I'm close to the situation, right,
it's you know, it's Pennsylvania and I'm out of Philly
and the big penn state thing here. So he's been
this has been a hot buttons object around here for
a long time. There has been a lot of hue
and call for his job because he couldn't win the
(22:56):
big game. And then last year happened and they make
the run, right, and you go, all right, well, now,
like you said, everybody coming back.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
So there was immense pressure on all right, dude, can
you win the big game?
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Because forever it's been Michigan Ohio State.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
Right, that's it.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
And then there's then there's another team, the lower tier
at Penn State under Franklin, always under on that tier,
they could never get into the top tier, which frustrated
the fan base forever. They listen, Frecklin's done, like you said,
a lot of good things, right, you know, that program
(23:38):
was in shambles after the scandal, the NCAA comes down
on them.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
I mean, you know, like that thing was bad.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Bill O'Brien did a really good job helping get him
out of there. And if Franklin has done a really
good job at kind of getting recruiting back and you know,
stabilizing getting building it backed up to where they have
national championships aspirations.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
But he just never got it done.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
He never did it seems like the locker room was
being lost. So the things I've heard now about the
program since he has been fired, and more digging that
you do, you know, is that basically the locker room
is broken, right, which I mean that's always a story
after you lose a couple of games like that that
(24:28):
players are playing for their draft stock and not for
the success of the team, which is not good to hear,
even though of course it's a weird thing, right, there's
some selfishness you have to have as a player because
you know that you're auditioned for the NFL, but you
want to do it with conjunction with your team, obviously, right,
but you know, but you don't want to hear that,
right the players are maybe openly doing what they want
(24:48):
and not really doing what needs to be done to
help the team win. We know Jim Knowles, defensive coordinator,
takes a couple of years to get going right, and
so there's some issues on defense right now with communication
and just sort of overall buy in to what they're doing.
And so you hear these stories come out. Of course,
there are players that you know, they like James Franklin
are saying next things about it, as they should. I
think he's a nice, good person. We've heard nothing about
(25:09):
sort of him as a person.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Oh yeah, now, but he really is. So we're hearing
these stuff come out, and I don't know where they
go from here. I think they get smoked tonight by Iowa.
I I just, uh, you.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Know, you have a backup quarterback now that hasn't played
at all, you know, so the backup who's playing tonight
right making his first start. The goal was to get
him reps this season, but they were struggling against FIU
and Villanova kids even play and he didn't play.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
So like they have a you know, and you go
to Iowa.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
It's a tough place to play anyways, and the season
feels very much like Florida State from last year. It's
just sort of a lost season. Like you had, you
had aspirations to be this this type of team. It's
it's not what you are and now you have to
rebuild looking the next season. And I think it's really
interesting to see the names that are associated with this job,
and you know what, what's the plan moving forward? We'll
(26:00):
cross off the list because I thought I thought that
Netty was a no go to start, but.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
I know, I know, I just say yes because oh
he had it backed up the rock.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
So here's that's really interesting. So I think we all
agree with s Netty is is awesome. Obviously just smoked
my ducks last week. But this and they had to
pay him because of the attention he's going to get
this year. But it does feel like a contract that's
like what, like whoa third highest paid coach in the sport?
(26:34):
You're like, oh boy, that that that is not an
overreaction to what happened last weekend, but like kind of
a shocking contract like that. That's that is a big contract.
It's a contract that said stay away from my boy.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
Oh no ooka. And they had to do it. They
absolutely had to do it. I didn't think.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
I didn't even think with the extension he was going
there anyways, well without the extension. So what Penn State
does now it is really interesting to me. And you
know how they sort of finished the year. I think
it's gonna be bad again. I think they're not even
making a bowl. I just think it's gonna be just
a disaster. They think about there's issues with play calling,
(27:15):
those issues with offensive design, if there's issues with broken
locker room and guys kind of selfishly playing for themselves,
what's gonna happen when their coach gets fired? Who players
I think liked you know, the boosters might not might
have they like him, You might have thought something about
the way he but I think the player is what
I've been told, like they like James Franklin, and now
he's gone obviously, so I will say at first I
(27:39):
thought this was kind of still to get rid of him.
I sort of get it now listening to more people
talk about the situation. But I just you know, three
weeks ago, we were going into four weeks ago. Now
we're going to the show on Saturday talking about Penn
State in Oregon, and now we're talking about Penn State
not having their coach anymore.
Speaker 4 (27:55):
It's unreal.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
It's I've never seen a cliff dive like this. I'd
never seen it. I mean, we see, like you mentioned
Florida State. She said this was a national championship game team. Yeah,
like this was a this they were they were a
cold favorite, Like are you kidding me? And they go like,
and you know that game in Happy Valley was a
(28:22):
big deal. It was Saturday night, it was a white out.
Did that game break Penn State? I think it did, Dude.
I was going to say, your squad broke Penn State.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
I mean, I'm hoping today obviously we go to Rutgers
say I'm hoping Indiana didn't break us, so.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
That would be I mean it's I went back. I
watch out for Rutgers.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
What about Rutgers. They can't stop they can't stop me
and you from scoring, but they can score a little
bit of all they can score. Uh they said they
have really they have really bad second half. Stay they're terrible. Ah,
you know, wouldn't layott, Oh, I'm not laying seventeen a half.
This is a tarrible spot. I would not lay seventeen
and a half. I was anyone that that's a that's
a silly way. What's your squad? So I I you know,
(29:05):
I was on shows this week. I would not lay
seventeen and a half. That's that's silly. So what Okay,
So we teased beforehand, like the mentality of like cultural
world players.
Speaker 4 (29:16):
Right, and.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
You know this is a couple spots are good sort
of test of that, right. Obviously Penn State's one of them.
Then and then what we saw with Nebraska last night,
where we have to remember, like these players are eighteen
twenty two years old, right, and they're they're prone to emotions,
(29:39):
Like the NFL is not you were adults man in
the NFL. Right, we got kids and families and like
bills to pay and like I don't obviously a little
different down college footballcause guys are getting money. But yere's
in my point right, like we're more mature. We should
be more mature. It doesn't work that way, but we
should be right.
Speaker 4 (29:54):
And so.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
This is why we love the sport because it's like
it's just were prone in collat football for things to
happen that are weird and upsets it. And because of
that that reason, right, And so you know, you hear
about these things with Penn State and how the players,
you know, maybe thought this was their championship season and
it doesn't happen and then sort of the team crashes, right,
(30:17):
And you know last night for Nebraska it is I
saw this with Oregon and Mario crystal Ball and Marrow
ended up dig going to Miami. I don't know what
Matt rule is going to do. You have a better
insight to that. I don't know if he knows what
he's going to do yet. But when you start hearing
your coach's name in these coaching searches and it's an
actual realistic thing, like this is something that Matt Rowle,
(30:39):
he's a Penn State.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Guy man like, of course, he would well let me
sit the states for it, just so you know. Yeah,
he was a walk on at Penn State. He started
his coaching career at Penn State. He met his wife
Julie at Penn State. Right, so that's it. And oh,
by the way, the athletic director of Penn State is
a I named Pat Kraft. Pat was with Matt at Temple. Yes,
(31:06):
Pat's a great dude of like a really good ad
and uh, I have no Pat a long time going
back to Temple where I went to Temple, and so
like there's a there's a huge history here, right, Like
you know, it's funny. He did a press conference on Monday,
and then on Monday he and I shoot a podcast,
(31:28):
right yep. So on that the press conference, Matt and
Matt's coming off a good win, right, a win where
they came back and won and you know, they get
your top twenty five for the first time.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
It's amazing how quickly that fall that lasted.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
But but you know he gives it press conference obviously
there everybody's all over it, and he's like being honest,
He's like, listen, you know, obviously everybody knows my connection
to Penn State, and we know he goes. But I'm
coaching Nebraska. I love Nebraska, I love where I'm I'm
in the middle of a build here, right, I got
(32:07):
I'd fall in love with coaching again here at Nebraska.
You know, Nebraska is a big brand that had to
be resuscitated, that just was dead. And he's a great
resuscitator of programs. Now all this noises around him. And
to your point, You've got a short week against Arrival
(32:29):
on the road, and you know, plucky team in Minnesota.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
And so the the players hear this, they're not they're
not still, they're not dumb. They go on social media
and so they and I think it's natural to start
thinking about what happens when your coach leaves. I think
just players just aren't as locked in. And again, it's
it's very natural for college football. It's very it's it's
(32:56):
it's just like you think about You're You're nineteen years old,
your second year of Nebraska. You like Matt Rule, you
like being in Nebraska, and all of a sudden, you
hear all week about your coach potentially taking a dream
job with Penn State, and no matter how much you
try to make that not matter as you prepare for
the week, it has to matter a little bit, right,
You start having those thoughts of like, well, if he leaves,
(33:16):
where do I go? If he leaves, what do I do?
And and again you don't purposely have these thoughts obviously, right,
but you have to. Your mind must wander there. And
I've seen it with other programs. I'm not saying this
thing that's going to happen all year for Nebraska. I
don't think that's the case. But in this specific game,
(33:36):
robbery game on the road, all this talk all week
about you know about whether or not your coach is staying.
And again, you won't really know that until the end
of the season. But I think once this week gets over,
you'll kind of calm down a little bit. Focused back
in it was sort of natural for them to lose
that game last night. I don't know, Bradleaveens don't want
to hear that. I'm sure you don't want to hear that.
You're realistic though, you understand what I'm talking about. It's
(33:58):
just a really tough spot to be in in that
In that moment last night, I really thought that was
an opportunity I took Minnesota to to cover. That game
is one of my one of my best bets for
the week. It's just a really tough spot for Nebraska
to be in, just mentally.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
So it really is. It was tough, you know, your
second straight roague game. It's without all the noise. It's
a tough spot, right like on the road short week
again in a conference against the rock conference rival.
Speaker 4 (34:23):
It's just it's a it's a tough tough.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Spot now, yaddle, but the whole coach stuff like you said,
and it's becomes almost impossible. And you know, listen, Dylan
struggle last night. Rayola struggled. They couldn't get anything good.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
They lost. You lose your tackle. I stopped.
Speaker 3 (34:41):
I stopped watching the eighth sad only only eight sacks,
no one was opening the entire game, but the.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
Break job and their left tackle.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
So he got targeting, right, that's what he got. He
was checked for.
Speaker 2 (34:56):
Yeah, I targeting, it's dumb, I agree with you. And
then so you know, then it's jail break. And now
you're in a spot where you got to throw throw, throw,
and you know the other thing that they don't have
and they need, they need they need a playmaker on defense,
Like that's one of the things that it's going to
be on this list to get, which is a playmaker
(35:19):
back to Penn State. I mean it's funny because I'll
be hearing whispers and all of a sudden, you hear
Saban's name, so well, I'll throw that. I'll throw that
and maybe other candidates at you. Where the fellas right
here on Fox Sports Radio, Well come back, fellas, Jeff Schwartz,
(35:44):
the Mighty Duck. I'm Anthony Gargano for the best pregame
show every weekend. Be sure to tune into the Fox
Sports Radios count Down the Kickoff presented by Bett MGM

All right, buddy, so uh yeah, just to get back
to it, I've been hearing, uh, you know, all of
a sudden saving names out there. Do you think Nick
(36:28):
would do?
Speaker 4 (36:29):
It.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
No, I I don't think so. Now, No, I mean
just no, I don't think so. Does he want to
move to Pennsylvania?
Speaker 2 (36:43):
I just I which wrong with pennsylvanias a beautiful part
of the state.
Speaker 3 (36:48):
I guess I should say, does he want to move
to state College? I don't think so. Maybe he Maybe
he does. Maybe I'm I'm wrong about where he wants
to live in.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
I mean the bottom why is does he want to
tackle that take on that kind of responsibility?
Speaker 4 (37:01):
Right?
Speaker 3 (37:02):
I would say no, we could have just said Alabama
doesn't take on that responsibility.
Speaker 4 (37:07):
No.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
Look, there's gonna be names tied to this job. Does
Penna State alum last night? Who played football there? He's like,
I want Nick Saban? I mean yeah, I mean it's you.
I want urban Meyer. I mean okay, sure, yeah, I
get it. He's won a lot of football games.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
Is urban Meyer want you? Guys?
Speaker 3 (37:20):
It's a question, right? Uh So? I I think Look,
they're gonna make all the calls. They're gonna call Saban,
They're gonna call urban Meyer, They're gonna call your guy
like they're gonna they're gonna call everyone, doesn't matter. They're
gonna I mean, they're gonna answer the phone and have
a conversation about it. But they should reach to everyone,
anyone who's ever coached. I mean, they should do it.
They have months and months to do this now, obviously,
(37:41):
and the way it works with the agents and whatnot
is I'm sure they have a general idea by the
way of who's available. I don't think you make this
this fire without done a tiny bit of background work
right on on the rest of the coaching landscape. But
I don't think Urban Meyer or Nick Staban is taking
this job.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Yeah, I don't want I don't know why you would
want Meyer.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
I mean, all he's done in college football is win
championships at major schools, So I know why you I mean, were.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
No, But you also know how how's how's ended? That
was ended that way a lot at you know, in
the NFL.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
It's the NFL and college But it was a disaster
how it ended. Listen, demand is an amazing Penn State.
Would Penn State take a disaster ending for one championship?
Speaker 4 (38:28):
I think they would. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
But by the way, this gig, when you get it here,
there's a it's a big deal. Man, Like you, you
gotta throw your sleeves up. They're gonna have nothing. They're
already We're want to be in a rebuilt situation. There's
already kids that are running back who decommitted.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Oh's a ton of decommits. Yeah, they're they're all over
the roster.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Yeah, like you're gonna you're gonna walk in here in
January and you're gonna go look at the portal and
there's gonna be issues. Everyone where a whole roster rebuilt.
And you can't do it. Ask ask Belichick everyone, Like
Beltic's disaster. Now, it's not. It takes a while to
build a program. Like you just can't go on the
(39:12):
portal and put a bunch of kids together and go,
we're gonna win. It doesn't want doesn't work that way.
You need to build a program. It's gonna take a
few years to come in and build it. Yet you
can expedite it with a portal, but it's gonna take
a minute to build this thing.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Correct, and then you have the added pressure of doing
it fast. In penn Statena, they're not gonna they're not
gonna be patient for a three year rebuild. So it's
just a it's gonna be a tough job whoever takes it.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
But there, but there's a realistic piece of it. And
I don't believe that you can fix it overnight. I
just don't believe it. Anyway, we got lots to get
to to the games coming up.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
Fellas on Fox Sports, Good Morning, Go, Good morning.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Buddy, Happy Fox Football Saturday. Jeff Schwartz, Anthony Gargana. We
are the fellas hanging out with you don't forget. For
over forty years, ty Raq has been helping customers find
the right ties for how, what and where they drive,
ship fast and free back by free road hazard protection,
(40:26):
convenient installation options like mobile tire installation, tire rack dot Com,
the way tire buying should be. And yes, time now
for the tire Iraq play of the day and it's
his show. Hey, it is history last night. I mean
he hit more home runs than hits aloud and a
(40:51):
ten strikeout performance. What here it is?
Speaker 4 (40:55):
Take a listen, big Righty McGill sets on the mountain.
Here's the pitch, you know, Tony tries one Cliff center
Field dig show.
Speaker 1 (41:08):
Hey, old Tunny the stuff of legend.
Speaker 2 (41:13):
That's right, Curtesy Am five to seventy LA Sports on
the call Dodgers, sweet sweet sweep. We go back to
Toronto for the al But look, let's go to college
football and let's go on the field talk about the games, because.
Speaker 4 (41:31):
This could be a bloody Saturday. Jeff.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
It was a bloody Friday as number twenty five Nebraska
went down and even bigger the Canes, the mighty Miami
Hurricanes go down to Lowville last night, major upset Carson Beck.
Speaker 4 (41:55):
Everybody talked about how.
Speaker 2 (41:56):
Carson Beck his resurgence in Miami, and he was it
was disastrous.
Speaker 4 (42:03):
Performance last night. Four picks.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
Louisville beats Miami in Miami twenty woar twenty one.
Speaker 3 (42:14):
Yeah, you know this opens up the ACC now right.
There was a lot of talk obviously of just ACC
being owned by Miami and that was the end of
the story and not anymore now, right, Jeff Bram at
Louisville is an a great job and they've had these
upsets every single season. Uh, They're so well prepared and
so well coached, and they took advantage outside of of
a you know, bad game from from Carson Beck, not
(42:35):
his best at toy what the funnel play of the game. Essentially,
the funnel play the game was the interception by their linebacker.
It was an incredible play by him.
Speaker 4 (42:45):
It was a.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
Play that physically was incredible, but just mentally knowing where
the ball was going to be on the hot route
and sort of just some of those things that that
involved making a play like that were so impressive. So Louisville,
great job by them. Carson Hype trained Heisman train now
takes a little bit of a of a of a
detour and look, lost season left, We see how that goes.
(43:07):
But yeah, look, I think Ohio State feels like the
only thing we know right now as far as great
teams in college football. It's an interesting year where as
a lot of really good teams, but are there great teams?
Ohio States still sort of the only team right now.
I think we feel comfortable for putting in that category.
Speaker 4 (43:25):
Yeah, yeah, no, it is.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
It's a it's a bizarre time, wild league, wild.
Speaker 4 (43:33):
Scene in this in this which makes it great to
be honest with you.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
And as good as Ohio State is, I mean I
don't think they're a layup to repeat.
Speaker 4 (43:44):
I mean they're they're not.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
I don't even know who's the layup right now to repeat.
I think I think or I wouldn't hear anything. No
one is right now. But the GET game last night,
you just can't lose if you're in Miami, right, you're
off a by, you're at home. You have these title aspirations,
Heisman aspirations, and to lose that game is not great.
And you know, Maria crystabal love Mario, but continues to
sort of have a loss to unranked team every year,
(44:06):
you know, not not the spot you want to be
in this college football gain it happens to today, do
I'm telling you today it's gonna be madness there. There
are there are eight eight ranked teams on the road
this weekend playing unranked teams. As of right now, they're
owing one. Right Nebrathka loss last night. There are three
monster SEC games this weekend ranked first ranked, there are
(44:29):
there's usc no name this weekend. You know that's basically
a playoff elimination game, right. The loser of that game
is out as in the playoff, in the playoff hunt.
So there's a lot of important football today. It's gonna
be a lot of fun to watch. We're gonna know
a lot more about these teams, what they're made of.
We'll know more about the playoff picture as we get
(44:51):
going here. So I'm looking forward to watching today, buddy.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
Yeah, it's gonna be a good one. Uh, let's go
kind of go through it U only today. LSU Vandy
real interesting gay because yeah, Lshoes is an interesting They're
kind of an enigma where their defense is really good.
Their offense with the smire, it's spotty, right like, they
(45:17):
haven't look dynamic or the offense at all prolific.
Speaker 3 (45:22):
Spotty is a nice way to put it. They're not good.
We've had We've had enough games down to see they're
They're not good on defense. I seen on offense. And
you know, is vander built the team to take advantage
of that? I don't know. But look, we've seen now
that when LSU has played any sort of team that
could put up a fight, they're not scoring more than twenty.
(45:42):
They're they're just not And vander Bild's defense is scrappy. Again,
they're not the best defense. But you know, is LSU's
offense to take advantage of any of this, I don't.
We haven't seen that. And on the flip side, look,
Vanderbilts offense is built like they've never had before. They
got dudes on the offensive way, like they've never never
had these guys before and they have just dudes on
(46:02):
the offensive line now. So to me, this is an undergame.
It's a grind game, right twenty seventeen something like that, right,
Like just a grind, a grind it out game.
Speaker 4 (46:12):
You know, you know.
Speaker 3 (46:13):
Someone's gonna make a mistake offensively that that someone took
advantage of. And it feels like that type of game
where vany Vanny what first time favorite a home and
there's a ranked team of fifty five. It's like something
saying like since World War Two, it's the first time
they they've been favored against LSU. There's all these things
that point to just a very physical, unique game here
(46:35):
in Vandy.
Speaker 4 (46:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (46:39):
The only thing is the one unit that I trust
the most is the LSU defense. Oh yeah, no, you should.
They've been great. Yeah, and ultimately I think that's just
gonna get done by.
Speaker 4 (46:52):
Yeah. A lot of height on the on the on Vandy.
Speaker 3 (46:56):
Oh yeah, yeah, I mean I'm there because of course
they just haven't been the spot before, right, People are
going to hype up what they haven't seen before, and
so it should be a fun way to start and
of course I love the SEC By the way they
schedule these games SEC Network at like twelve forty five
Easter like a random time like everyone else paying at
twelve or one or one o'clock or twelve thirty, but
(47:20):
no twelve forty five for this game. Looking forward to
it should be a fun way to start today.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
Yeah, let's keep going through it. How about Oklahoma South Carolina?
Speaker 4 (47:36):
This is a twelve forty weird spot. You know, this
was the forty five game.
Speaker 3 (47:41):
Yeah, my next to see network, so really interesting here.
I thought Oklahoma made a mistake playing John Matier last week.
Now obviously, Honah, it's very easy to say that. So
John Matier and their quarterback had had a hand injury,
had surgery, and they rushed him back to play against
Texas last week, and it was predictably off right, and
(48:02):
they claim that, you know, it's his hand is better
this week and he's able to play and whatnot. But
the issue with playing him last week, it's not that
he wasn't ready to play, that his hand was. You know,
those are all issues. But like mentally, now you have
a loss and you have a situation where you're a
little bit your confidence is now questioned, you feel essentially
(48:26):
less good about where you are as a team if
you if you don't play him right and you lose,
you have very much and say, well, well we'll be fine,
right our quarterbacks coming back this week, And I thought
last week just not a time to push the panic
button and play your quarterback like you have time this year.
It's a long season. You can afford a loss. And
(48:48):
now you have a team I think that's not very
confident offensively. And now you go to South Carolina. South
Calina has their own issues, but this does feel like
a really tough game for Oklahoma af that Texas loss.
Speaker 2 (49:00):
Yeah, I'm curious to see because you're right, South Carolina
does have its issues, but I could see that putting
something together today.
Speaker 3 (49:09):
Oh, it's a great spot for talking for five and
a half. I'm curious what the brain thinks later.
Speaker 4 (49:14):
Yeah, I agree with you. Uh. And then we get
to three point thirty.
Speaker 2 (49:21):
You mentioned the number one team in the country, Ohio State,
a big favorite at Wisconsin.
Speaker 3 (49:28):
Yeah, they're gonna Wisconsin will need to do head coach
to at some point that's in this offseason. They're gonna smoke.
They're gonna smoke them, They're gonna smoke them.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
Yeah, and then the head coach, I got all the
money in the world. Indiana hosting Michigan State.
Speaker 3 (49:44):
I mean, this is like a prime letdown spot. The
problem is Michigan State stinks. They can't be a letdown spot.
They can't pu any defense.
Speaker 4 (49:53):
No, yeah, I know.
Speaker 3 (49:54):
I think this is gonna be a nice game for
the Hoosiers here to have a look. A letdown spot
is rarely at home like this, and I just this
is not a spot for a letdown.
Speaker 2 (50:08):
Number four A and m all the suddeny raging fourth.
Speaker 4 (50:17):
They're in Arkansas weird spot.
Speaker 2 (50:20):
They should win, but you know it's it's another tough
spot on the road.
Speaker 4 (50:28):
What do you make of the Mike Elcho Penn State stuff.
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (50:33):
I mean, you know, I mean I expected him, Like
you look at all the hot coaches and you go,
all right, you know you're not getting signetty ilk makes sense,
you know, like all that all those names are going
to be out there for it.
Speaker 4 (50:48):
So this is sort of.
Speaker 3 (50:51):
Give us a spot where like, you know, does his
team hear the rumor?
Speaker 4 (50:54):
Is how they feel about?
Speaker 2 (50:55):
Right?
Speaker 3 (50:56):
You know, him and him staying there?
Speaker 4 (50:59):
I do.
Speaker 2 (51:01):
I think the rule thing was a little bit more
because it hit history there.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think A and M will kind
on business in this game. I'm behind in Arkansas.
Speaker 2 (51:13):
Yeah, I don't like Arkansas. I mean, I wouldn't lay.
I can think it's seven and a half. I wouldn't
lay it. But I don't think they'd lose the game.
Speaker 4 (51:24):
I'm gonna do either. I agree.
Speaker 2 (51:26):
All Right, dude, this is a great game Old Miss
and Georgia.
Speaker 4 (51:35):
Yeah, what do you make of Old Miss?
Speaker 2 (51:37):
All right, let's let's dive a little deep into the Reds.
Here's what they've done so far. They wreck Georgia State.
They win at Kentucky by a touchdown. They beat Arkansas
in a close game. They buried Tulamee. They beat LSU
(51:57):
when we know about to struggle with LSU at home
in the Grove. They beat Washington State eek beat den
La this week by a field goal, and now go
to Georgia.
Speaker 4 (52:11):
Yeah. So this is uh.
Speaker 3 (52:16):
This is Chambliss's first road start in and in this
division of football. Miss his quarterback is a D two transfer.
He missed the first road game they played this season,
so his first start on the road and he came
from Farris State from.
Speaker 2 (52:33):
Correct Yeah is I love the story. I mean that's
a great he's a dynamic player.
Speaker 3 (52:38):
Great story, but also really tough spot to be in
for you first road start. You know, Alabama beat beat
Georgia this year at home, but did not lost a
home game in like thirty three straight home games. A
tough place to play against this Georgia defense. It just
feels like a pretty tough spot for Old Miss. You
know this number seven a half reason I think people
look at this a wow seven and a half, it's
(52:59):
because I think Georgia's better than them and Old Miss
has to prove it in this spot, in this situation,
are they ready to play this Georgia team. Georgia has
its flaws this season, more than we've seen for a
Georgia team in the past, I want to say, but
you know, they're starting to get their offensive line together.
I trust their quarterback, So I think this is a
good spot to back Georgia. Here plus a seven and
(53:20):
a half, I think Old Miss is going to be
a very public dog today.
Speaker 4 (53:24):
Yeah, well, we know the public dog never bites.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
It bites every now and then, but this year has not.
It's not been a big bier this year. I'm never big.
I'm never a big fan of the public dog. I'm
against two of them today in a big way. So
I'm i'm we'll get to those games that would have
mad Will. Actually we skipped one of them already because
of the timeslot. But I am I am. I'm very
big on Michigan Today. Everyone's pounding Washington. I don't, I don't.
Speaker 7 (53:49):
I'm not gonna be in Washington today. You like Michigan
minus four and a half? Oh yeah, yeah, Washington's a
huge public dog today. I don't buy I don't buy
it at all.
Speaker 3 (53:59):
Washington. The defense is nineteth the country and third down
they force no punts.
Speaker 8 (54:05):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (54:05):
Their offense is john Way. I mean, I'm Joan Williams.
Speaker 4 (54:08):
JOHNA.
Speaker 3 (54:09):
Williams is good the running back, but you know, Demon
Williams the quarterback is fantastic, but if you can keep
him in the pocket, this offense really bogs down. Michigan
plays better at home this year, especially with a young quarterback.
They got embarrassed against the USC. I think this is
a good spot to back Michigan.
Speaker 4 (54:28):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (54:28):
I Uh, the brain is in Michigan. Alums so he's uh,
he knows all. He's always good on his on his
on his program, so you might want to ask him
that too, see if he feels the same way. Texas
Tech at Arizona State number seven, the Red Raiders also
(54:49):
six in zher How good is Texas Tech, Jeff.
Speaker 3 (54:54):
This is a This is a tough spot for them,
I'll tell you that, right. Yeah, Sam Levitt's back for
Arizona State, who didn't played last weekend. Their offense, you know,
obviously predictably bogged down on Utah with Jeff Simms and
a quarterback the core Tech Tech quarterback's not back yet.
Their backup is going to start again today. He's available,
I think, to play if they need him. This is
a spot, there's a great constable spot, right. All the hype,
(55:16):
all the hype is right now on on on Texas Tech,
right or are they going undefeeder?
Speaker 4 (55:21):
They winning?
Speaker 3 (55:21):
Are the winning the conference? Like all these all these
things traditionally that have really we've seen, you know, in
these spots struggle a little bit. So I think Arizona
covers this game. Tech's done a great job this season.
They probably win the game, but it's a really this
is a tough spot for that man all all the No,
I think I saw he's not I think that's the
(55:41):
backup is going to start. Well, I think that's what
I saw last night. I could double check this morning,
but I think that's what the report was last night.
And you know the course, Yeah, I think I think
they said I think they said he's not. I think
they said he's not playing today, he's not starting today. Wood. Yeah,
it's very good. I'm a could double check right now. Yeah,
(56:02):
that's what I thought they said last night. So yeah,
Texas Texas expected to start Will Hammon at quarterback.
Speaker 4 (56:08):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (56:09):
Yeah, he's limited practice this week. So yeah, so that's
obviously big, big issue. You're back now. Now Will Hammon's
played well, so it's not like it's you know, but
more obviously one of the job at a camp, and
there's reasons you have him as just starting quarterback. So again,
Arizona State, just don't take what happened last week.
Speaker 4 (56:26):
Guys like that.
Speaker 3 (56:27):
They were on the road at Utah, tough place to
play without their quarterback. Like it's it's gonna be a
little bit tough to do that. Levit's back this week.
Dilling Ham has been a big game coach, right, and
the team has played well in these big games. So
I'm very curious to see how this one goes. You know,
it should be some some big twelve chaos.
Speaker 4 (56:43):
I feel like.
Speaker 2 (56:45):
Big twelve ca I mean again, it's funny. These are
the rise of these unbeaten teams, right that are there
were were fringe teams that you thought about, you know,
and now all of a sudden, you know, they got
the test. Like even Georgia Tech is unbeaten and they
got it.
Speaker 4 (57:05):
They gotta go to Duke and dog.
Speaker 3 (57:08):
They're a dog today.
Speaker 4 (57:08):
Yeah, I'm like Duke in the game. I love Dukes.
Speaker 3 (57:14):
Duke is on my card for the Culturable Contest this week,
I got one in half. It's now three My contest
are said, my first time doing the contest is here.
I'm twenty seven, twenty one and one. I'm tied for
one hundredth It's not bad. Good start for the goods.
Speaker 4 (57:27):
Many weeks left to go? How many? How many you
pick each week? Three?
Speaker 3 (57:31):
Seven college games against I lost last night. I took
cow cheese cow is up twenty twenty one ten yeah,
fourteen ten and a halftime score out score out of
the second half, but go up twenty one ten, I'm
right on track, and then don't score again. It's very frustrating.
Speaker 4 (57:46):
And dude, I thought the same thing.
Speaker 2 (57:47):
I'm on they just didn't and they had moments where
they moved the ball in chunks and they just didn't
move the ball again.
Speaker 3 (57:55):
It's very frustrating. But that's that's playing the car. That's
playing that's better than sports. So I it is what
it is. But I don't even know what I was.
Speaker 4 (58:06):
Going with where I was going here. I like Duke.
I took Duke in my contest this week. I like Duke. Uh.
Speaker 2 (58:13):
Texas at Kentucky, they get them. They feel good about
themselves the games. The game's not looking good early and
then all of a sudden they get a momentum.
Speaker 4 (58:28):
They get me drive Uh you.
Speaker 2 (58:31):
Know, Arts feels better about himself and it was a
really good win for Texas. And now you turn around,
now Kentucky's not good, but they're always dangerous there.
Speaker 3 (58:43):
Yeah, and in this spot, there's some pretty alarming against
the spread numbers for Texas with Sark after they play
the Red River game.
Speaker 4 (58:54):
It's not good. He's not covered all these games.
Speaker 3 (58:56):
The next weekend I'm not saying they're gonna lose, but
as you mentioned, it's it is very difficult to play
a rivalry game like that. You win the rivalry game
and go on the road next week. So there's a
classic spot where a team will be flat. Texas has
offensively has shown this year to be a little bit flat.
Kentucky it's not very good this season, So I think
(59:17):
I think Texas wins the game, but I would not
be surprised if there was a little bit of a
flat from from Texas in this game.
Speaker 2 (59:25):
Well, I know, to Kentucky fans like south Side Chuck,
who's one of our big listeners, especially at the Louisville,
Kentucky's biggest rival, had the big win last night, they're
gonna be looking for an.
Speaker 3 (59:37):
Upset and they're off of bye too. To that repair, all.
Speaker 4 (59:42):
Right, let's say quik TiO, we'll come back and go
through some of the big ones tonight.
Speaker 9 (59:49):
All's going to happen in Alabama and then the Godfather game.
Oh good stuff, fell As Jeff Schwartz Anthony go I
got a right to here on FI Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (01:00:02):

Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
Live fellas from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Yffide hanging
out on a They're always good. We're moving too fast.
It's week eight in college football, week seven in the NFL.
It goes in a blank, dude, like we were just
(01:00:34):
talking about we're all geeked up from the start of football,
and the next thing you know, boom, it's it's week
seven in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:00:44):
It comes out to a fast, buddy, It certainly does.
Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
I wanted to slow down. Well, Tonight is a banner
night of football. Great night on ABC, Alabama NC.
Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
Yeah, this is going to be fun. Now.
Speaker 2 (01:01:05):
The Alabamas is seven and a half point favorite. Lines
a lot of points for a team that's been good,
not great.
Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
I think Alabama takes this game and covers. The only
hesitation I have is this is their fourth straight big game, right,
Georgia Vanderbilt Missouri. They're back home for Tennessee. But they've
answered all those tests, right, and you look at at
(01:01:39):
their makeup offensively with Simpson and how he's sort of
improved throughout the season, right, and he's been the best.
Speaker 4 (01:01:47):
Of all the quarterbacks. He's probably been the best.
Speaker 3 (01:01:50):
Their defense. Bama's defense is actually down to down good
to stopping the run. The problem is they allow a
ton of explosives.
Speaker 4 (01:01:57):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:01:58):
But I like the way that their defense aroundy in
a forem. In general, I like their offensive line. I
like their quarterback.
Speaker 2 (01:02:03):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:02:04):
This is a tough spot for Tennessee on the road here.
I worry about their ability to just you know, can
they get those supposed to pass plays? Can their defense
or defense is not as good as they've been last year.
Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
They allowed what.
Speaker 3 (01:02:18):
Thirty one to Arkansas, thirty four to Mississippi State the
last two games? Yeah, so four to Georgia. So I
I do lean here Bama. It's seven and a half.
Still it was at number. It's the number. I favorite
what the number is right now. But I still I
lean Bama in this game. Uh to cover. It's a
(01:02:39):
lot of points, you know, over a touchdown obviously against
a good opponent. But I lean toward Bama here.
Speaker 2 (01:02:45):
Yeah, you know, it's funny. If anything, I like the
over and uh yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:02:51):
This game what was the game last year? Forty two
thirty eight or YEA.
Speaker 2 (01:02:55):
Is going to test them all on the edges, you know,
they who give up plays downfield, you know, I hear you.
I just think the state for play would be either
BABMA team total over or just over in general. You
know it's the total is fifty nine and a half. Yeah, ty, yeah,
(01:03:23):
But I like, you know what's funny. Notre Dame USC
it is fifty nine and a half. Now, I think
that's an I'm there. It is The Godfather game number twenty,
USC number thirteen, Notre Dame Irish nine and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:03:40):
I love Irish of this game. Covering this game a
couple of reasons. One is that you know, Lincoln Riley
has just not covered this game at USC, A ranked
team on the road, big underdog, just doesn't cover this game.
It's not in their spot. They're and they're off a
(01:04:01):
big win last weekend too, right, it's like a great
like a great win. They beat Michigan and they're now
back on the road to play the Irish. So I
don't love them just mentally in that spot. They're down
a couple running backs, they're down, we don't know whether
the left tickle's gonna play or not. This is okay.
This one thing I just I can't stand about college
football is the secret to when it comes to injuries.
(01:04:22):
So they their left tackle is very good, Elijah Paige,
and last week the reports were that he was dressed
and came to practice every every practice, because all you
can see is a reporter who covers a team right
now is basically either the players going in to practice
or you can see the first couple of minutes of practice,
(01:04:42):
right if that's about it. Ye, And they report Elijah
Page dressed ready to play every practice, then it comes
out before kickoff, He's not going to play against against Michigan,
so they just they just dressed him for practice to
show reporters he was going to play to try to
fool Michigan essentially, which is just like dumb man, It's
just so silly, Like I just the secretcy in the
(01:05:05):
paranoia on college football and allowing coaches to get away
with doing this, parading players out like they're actually healthy
when they're not. I think it's wrong and hope that
they fixed us with uniform injury reports. But that's my
own personal beef with that situation.
Speaker 4 (01:05:18):
Uh I.
Speaker 3 (01:05:22):
USC's defense is okay, they rushed the passer, okay, but
no Name's offense is really good. I don't know if
people pay attention enough to the Irish. They score a
ton of points. Cars, well, the run. Everything's based off
the run game, right, The car is terrific. Yeah, so
I actually I think that Notre Dame wins and covers
(01:05:44):
this game. Also, we talked earlier about sort of sticky
public dogs. USC is a sticky everyone's on USC, like, yeah,
it's a huge public it's at least it has. But now,
of course things change once we get to the weekend.
I've not seen updated numbers, but USC, at least early
of the week was a huge public public play. So
I like the Irish tonight to win and cover. It
(01:06:05):
made my card. And you know, if USC proves me wrong,
prove me wrong. If if they can't run the football
and he gets into my AVA game, I don't think
that's where us he wants to be either. The Irish defense,
by the way, started pretty slow, right uh ye Miami
in A and M and since then they've done a
much better job. It could be competition, of course, could
could could you know, could be that way, But I
(01:06:26):
just like the way the Irish are built right now,
the way they're playing and I'll take the Irish.
Speaker 4 (01:06:31):
Yeah, I'll second that. I love not Every Dame. Why
you know why I called the Godfather game?
Speaker 5 (01:06:39):
Was that?
Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
Did you see the movie?
Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
I've seen. It's not been a while, but I what's
the connection.
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
When Michael goes to Miami to meet with him and Roff.
He goes into the house, Yeah, and him and Roff
is watching.
Speaker 4 (01:06:59):
The game.
Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
And it's it's Notre Dame USC, and he Michael, do
you follow the football Michael?
Speaker 4 (01:07:11):
And he was, I don't. I don't. I love football, Michael,
I love baseball too.
Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
Ever since Arnold Rothstein fixed the nineteen nineteen World Series, what.
Speaker 3 (01:07:23):
Do you what do you make of all the talk
this week about, you know, basically who needs this robberry
more USC or Notre Dame because it seems like this
robbery is not not for long, considering that you know,
USC schedule is gonna I think that Seed beats it more.
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
Okay, I do think. I think I listen, I think
Notre Dame. Notre Dame did an amazing thing where it's
still got Catshay. There was a point where it looked
like it wouldn't be able to sustain and it was
going to go away the whole Irish mystique, and they
brought it back there able to save it.
Speaker 4 (01:08:01):
Yeah, and they're they're as strong as ever. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:08:06):
I mean Notre Dame probably needs it more for their
own scheduling, for their strength to schedule. Okay, because of
what they don't really have a conference. You know, USC
can play nobody, go nine in the Big Ten and
still end up in the playoff, right, No Dame, really,
I don't think you can do that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
But I think Notre Dame's got the catch. I think
it's still got catcha I think it does too.
Speaker 3 (01:08:29):
But but Notre Dame, though any need USC on their schedule,
US doesn't need no name on the schedule anymore because
of of the conference they're in.
Speaker 4 (01:08:38):
That's a good point. I agree. I think they both
need I think they both need each other. Though.
Speaker 3 (01:08:43):
This rivalry is college football, it's it's it's what comfortable
is about. They've had classic games like this is an
important game for both these schools. I think they both
need this. They both want this game to continue. They
just have different terms of how they want to get it,
you know, how they want to get to continue, which
is interesting. We'll see that progresses as we move forward
here and.
Speaker 4 (01:09:04):
Then the final Monster game.
Speaker 2 (01:09:08):
On tonight, because you have the three networks all going
at it.
Speaker 4 (01:09:13):
Right here on Fox.
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
Wow Utah BYU b Yu, What do you make any
unbeaten coos?
Speaker 4 (01:09:24):
You're not buying the unbeaten koos not. I don't think
they'll be unbeat anymore tonight. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:09:31):
I just Utah's worst game of the year was Texas Tech.
As we know, it's really just worse half of the year, right.
They played really bad in the second half of that game,
and come to find out this is the injury report thing.
Pisses me off that their quarterback was hurt. Like, we
come to find out their quarterback, Uh, damp Pierre was
not healthy that game, and wouln't be gonna know beforehand,
of course, but that's not the way it works, and
(01:09:53):
that was the worst half of football. Damp Pier is healthy, Uh,
Utah is healthy.
Speaker 4 (01:09:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:10:00):
They're better in the trenches. Yeah, they can really rely
on their run game and their offensive line. And so
I I really like Utah on this game.
Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
Yeah, I could say, I serio, you come from like
dam Pure is the best player on the field, so
he just.
Speaker 3 (01:10:17):
Can't throw the ball which is a problem, but I
mean it has been for years now that they just
can't generate supposed to plays offensively through the pass. They
had one of Texas Tech got called back, which isn't
great if Fidela's down the field. But if they can
just generate a little bit of of of what's supposed
to plays with their offense in this game, really through
the air man, it's cool.
Speaker 4 (01:10:39):
I mean that's not who he is. I mean, but
he's dynamic.
Speaker 3 (01:10:42):
But yeah, but you have to you have to generate
some of those plays, yeah, I mean just to keep defense.
Speaker 2 (01:10:46):
Honestly, I hope you can do it. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
it could be fun. So what what percentage will you
be watching? You have Alabama Tennessee, Notre damesc B hyu utah.
Speaker 4 (01:11:01):
How do you whack up that three? That pie?
Speaker 3 (01:11:06):
Well you also have Organ Rutgers at that time too,
So well yeah, yeah, I'll bigre that.
Speaker 4 (01:11:13):
You know, I'm talking to that. I forgot, I'm talking
to the Mighty Dot on the Big ten network. I'll
be watching that game. Jeez.
Speaker 3 (01:11:20):
I mean, look, fan interest, I.
Speaker 4 (01:11:25):
Sure we all burn too? Is all that time too?
That's a good I used.
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
To work my my co host for five years on
the PAC twelve network, was as a Utah grad and
so I have a lot of connection to that program.
So Holy War will be on a TV of mine.
That's a nasty robbery, man. People realize it is a
nasty robbery and it will continue again today. I'll see
that game last year was in Utah, Utah no quarterback.
(01:11:51):
That was a weird uh past interference call some refereeing
questions last year. So this will be a lot of fun.
So the three off or what now Utah b y.
Speaker 4 (01:12:01):
U, Alabama Tennessee Notre Dame.
Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
Uh you again, like my personal rooting interest, I'll put
the two games with the West Coast Mountain schools on
and then I'll do the SEC game third. That's my
that's my personal I mean I'll watch organ as well,
like I'll have I'm gonna figure out how I'm gonna
do it, well, how my TV are gonna work for tonight. Yeah,
(01:12:27):
like what if you were if you if you only
had one.
Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
Percent US, Notre Dame would be number one US and
Notre Dame great, that would be one on mine. But
Alabama Tennessee is a close second.
Speaker 3 (01:12:43):
Yeah, that's a great that's gonna be a great game.
Speaker 4 (01:12:47):
I don't know. I'm curious. I could see Tennessee scaring.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
Them, so I still gotta see.
Speaker 4 (01:12:55):
I still think they're vulnerable down the field, so I
ark can make some place. It's gonna be fun, good
football tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
What about the big boys and what about the battle
of the forty year olds? How about my man Joe.
I raised my glass to Joe. Talk about that next
Fellas on Fox, Welcome Back Fellas. So, dude, can I
(01:13:32):
just tell you I loved Thursday Night football this week.
Speaker 4 (01:13:36):
I enjoyed the hell out of that game.
Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
Steelers and Bengels, the forty year olds right going at it.
And I'm a big Flacco guy. I love you know,
he's from twenty minutes from here. I know him very well,
and he's a He's a great dude.
Speaker 4 (01:13:57):
And the one thing he can do is to dude's.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
Got a golden arm right like whatever you he could
always slung it. He slung it at Delaware, he slung
it in Baltimore like he just could throw the football.
And I love like the big arm quarter but I
always have and watching him go to Chase twenty three
times and Higgins and everybody else. It was what I
(01:14:24):
enjoyed the hell out of it. And then Rogers coming back.
Fun stuff all Thursday night football with the old guys.
Speaker 3 (01:14:31):
A lot of fun. Do you think the Steelers know
Jamar Chase was getting the ball at all? Like you
think they're just I don't believe it. They just let
him catch the I was. Richard Sherman was also flabbergasted
by this, like they they let essentially Jamar Chase do
whatever he wanted. It was I there's a play where
(01:14:57):
like they were, they were doubling in. They would put
Jayalen Ramsey on Jamar Chase and double him sometimes and
then also and then lay off him. Sometimes there's no
coherent plan they should have put like this is the
way you you play against good wide receivers like that,
you're ready, you take your best corner right and you
put him on number two. This is what Bill Belchick
(01:15:18):
always did right in New England. Put him on number
two and you double number one. That's the so they
should double Jamar Chase, not with Jayleen Ramsey, with someone else.
They take it Ramsey and put him on on on
Higgins like whatever you want to do, but just you
can't do it the way they were doing it. And
you're right about Joe Flacco. Uh, he's always going to
(01:15:39):
throw the football, can't move. But the matter if they
could rush the passer in this game, so he has
got no pass rush and.
Speaker 4 (01:15:45):
Malo, you know they right to read up he kept it.
Speaker 3 (01:15:49):
Yeah, So listen after that game, it was it was
they were the wrong formation. Flaka wasn't supposed to keep
the ball, which is even funnier than he did. And
what a what a play called there? And so this
is this is historically the worst spot for Pittsburgh. Mike
(01:16:12):
Tomlin is a favorite of four points or more. Is
now three and twenty eight against the spread, worst number
in all of the history of the NFL in that
spot as a head coach. I don't know what it
is about these spots, James Franklin. Mike Tomlin just does
(01:16:33):
not win them. She doesn't win them, doesn't cover them.
I think now he's zero to seven just straight up
against against division opponents on Thursday at football. How's that possible?
He's not good on buddy. This is just a It's
been a basketball for Pittsburgh forever. They have to figure
out why that is. And again to not cover Chase,
(01:16:56):
to not have a plan for Jamar Chase, and offensively,
like when you get damn points from your offense, if
you're Pittsburgh, us put to win the game. Rogers, your
point was was fabulous yesterday? It was fabulous yesterday? Or
do whatever with Thursday whatever it was the Bengals defense.
Things like, just to lose that game to the Bengals,
who are not very good, who can't play any defense,
(01:17:17):
is inexcusable.
Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
I know, Hendrickson, Yeah, yeah, it's it's crazy, you know
I did. I found it amusing. Tomwin ripped the Browns forgiving.
Speaker 3 (01:17:32):
Yeah. So my take on that was that quite simply,
he went and watched the film of the Bengals and
was like, they're much better with Flacco. How dare them?
How dare that the Bengals? You know, the Bengals are
better now? How dare then you make your division to
put it better? We saw what happened when they're better
they beat you on Thursday night. I was look Tomlin
doing that was kind of interesting, right, And two things
(01:17:54):
when I think it was probably defending Stefansky a little bit.
Who story came out that Stefanski wasn't a fan of
them trading Flacco. I get it because even if Flacco's
not starting, your quarterback room could use Joe Flacco. Right,
you have Dylan Gabriel rookie. Yes, Joe Flacco was now
right now, your quarterback room is Flaca, Assu, Me is
Gabriel and Sanders. There no veteran in that room. I
think Bailey's happy then he guess they count sort of.
But Joe Flacco is a mentor guy. Right, But Joe
(01:18:17):
Flacco was a mentor would have been great for those
young quarterbacks. And Andrew Berry said, nope, he's out of here.
So it might have been to Tomlin Defendingstefanski a little
bit there as well.
Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
I figure you had.
Speaker 2 (01:18:27):
By the way, at some point, kevin'st fancy he's going
to get paroled from Cleveland.
Speaker 4 (01:18:35):
Yeah, he's gonna be the first hire.
Speaker 2 (01:18:36):
For everybody, and he's going to go somewhere to a
good spot with his stable front office and maybe want
to succeed.
Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
What if you're the Jets and you have the number
one pick of the draft, certainly impossible at this moment.
I know it's not you mentioned stable.
Speaker 4 (01:18:54):
Do you do you.
Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
Fire Aaron Glenn Hires to FANSI draft the number one quarterback.
I think that'd be ag option for the Jets.
Speaker 4 (01:19:01):
I would. But if I'm Stefanski, I'm not going to
New York.
Speaker 8 (01:19:05):
I mean I'm gonna go to that I would have
done for you. What stiple job is gonna be? What
stiple job is gonna be? Open as it right now?
That's that's the question. I don't really know who that job.
I mean, the Dolphins haven't stable either, But I don't
know what's gonna be the.
Speaker 4 (01:19:17):
I gotta see what jobs are out there. But I
would you would when you go?
Speaker 3 (01:19:20):
Would you go mentor would you try to fix not
fix cam War?
Speaker 4 (01:19:23):
Would you be the savior for cam Ward? They got
no talent there.
Speaker 3 (01:19:29):
I know that's why those jobs are open. I know
I'm open for a reason.
Speaker 4 (01:19:35):
No, I know, they just have no no talent. All right,
big Al, We're coming up next.
Speaker 2 (01:19:41):

All right, my brother, Uh, lots of go over coming
(01:20:56):
up in about twenty minutes. We'll talk to the brain
to go over the whole entire card.
Speaker 4 (01:21:03):
But let's look at it.
Speaker 2 (01:21:04):
We've been talking a lot of college football today, as
you can well imagine a college football Saturday.
Speaker 4 (01:21:08):
But the NFL wide open continues.
Speaker 2 (01:21:14):
There's all kinds of teams with issues, one being the
defending champs, the Eagles, who go to Minnesota after the
Thursday debacle against the Giants and they get right game
and there are a lot of issues surrounding the Eagles offense.
Can the Eagles offense get together against Brian Flores led Mikes?
Speaker 4 (01:21:39):
You tell me you're the Eagles guy?
Speaker 5 (01:21:41):
Do you do?
Speaker 4 (01:21:42):
What do you think? I'm setting you up? But yeah,
you're right, I think I don't think they can going. Okay,
what are the issues? I know?
Speaker 3 (01:21:50):
I mean, I have a couple ideas.
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
Here's what's going on, right, So the only way they're
going to get together, here's what they're gonna do. They're
going to try to get it going with Barkley. They
need the Vikings can get it going with Barkley from
a run standpoint, right, Like they can do that, like
they can run on the Minnesota defense. But the issue
(01:22:15):
has been the Eagles offensive line and how.
Speaker 4 (01:22:19):
Banged up they've been.
Speaker 2 (01:22:21):
They've been very banged up o line, particularly in the
interior piece of it. So how teams are playing them
is they're forcing Jalen to throw the football and they're
showing blitz and then they're backing out of it right
and flooding the zone. And the way to play the
Eagles is not to play man against aj Brown Devonte Smith,
(01:22:43):
but bracket them and flood the zone and zone them
up because Jalen does not get rid of the ball
quickly and he's not a guy that's gonna throw through windows, correct,
And that's been the problem with their offense.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
Yeah, good summary. You know, Dickerson being out and left
guard has really hampered the run game. They don't have
Makai Beckton obviously, this isn't a right guard. Makay has
best ever his career last season. Lane is older. He's
just not the same player.
Speaker 2 (01:23:16):
I got his for though Lanes watching that tape. Lane's
playing great football. They're issues in the interior part of it.
Cam Jurgens, who's a really good young center. He's also
banged up. So between Land and and and Steve's better
in past block than he is in run block. They
need to run more outside stuff. I don't see any
(01:23:38):
talls crack uh they all have. They need to run
more outside zone. And they have a new OC and
he's been feeling his way through.
Speaker 3 (01:23:46):
It to Syriana take more control of the offense. You
think he's you know, he's.
Speaker 4 (01:23:51):
Not that guy. He's guys his input.
Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
But the problem with a CEO coach is even from
like a Syrian, He's from that side of the ball.
You gotta you're so dependent on your coordinators, Like look
at Frankly. We just we talked a lot about James
Franklin today. I think one of his biggest issues is
(01:24:14):
he put too much on his coordinators.
Speaker 4 (01:24:17):
Okay, you don't. You got to be an guy man.
Speaker 3 (01:24:19):
You don't want to find interesting about Franklin too. And
something that maybe I only noticed so when you when
you were watching a Penn State game and they were
struggling on offense, all of a sudden, James Franklin had
a call shoot in front of him. Did you know
what it'stard as well. Yeah, that Like he didn't start
the game with it, but as soon as they started
having trouble, it's Oregon against Northwestern, Like you saw him
(01:24:42):
with a play shoot all of a sudden. And I
don't know if he was helping Cole Nikki or he
was giving him, you know, ideas of what he wanted
to do, but it was kind of interesting to see
that that that kind of take form as the game
went on. So I'm with you on on Philly stuff.
Davis is gonna play right, I'm not Davis. Carter is
gonna play right.
Speaker 4 (01:25:01):
Carter pla Quinnyon, who was even more important.
Speaker 3 (01:25:05):
He was, he's dressed, he's a practice this week. I
saw her correct.
Speaker 4 (01:25:08):
Yeah, he's playing now. He's got a handy.
Speaker 2 (01:25:10):
So you know those things are fickle, you know better
than anybody, especially for I was too fat.
Speaker 3 (01:25:16):
I was, yeah, I was too fat to like Tara hamstring.
That's just you have to move a certain speed to
terror hamstring. I didn't do that ever in my career.
Speaker 4 (01:25:24):
I did.
Speaker 3 (01:25:25):
I did Terry groin. That wasn't very fun. But I
have not done a hamstring in my career. So I
know what Andrew is feeling. I don't know what that
one specifically feels like. That's just fair there. You have
to be a certain a certain level of quickness I
was not able to attain in my playing career.
Speaker 4 (01:25:43):
They need them, I mean, Jeff, because I know if
you look at.
Speaker 2 (01:25:49):
And Ringo, who's their backup corner, can't just can't.
Speaker 4 (01:25:54):
You don't have the hands for it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
I mean he got schooled by Humphrey, a practice squatter
from the Giants.
Speaker 4 (01:26:01):
So they need Quinnyon in a big way.
Speaker 2 (01:26:03):
He's very, very good and he's the only corner and
they they need him, especially when you're going up against
that group of receivers.
Speaker 3 (01:26:12):
Yeah, so I actually like filling this game and you do. Yeah,
And so I'll give you the real as why one is.
I do think that I do think that they get right,
just it's sort of they have to get right game
and if they they don't get right, then I think
we look at them and think there's more problems than
than we that we think offensively, uh but more than
(01:26:33):
anything else, the more backup quarterbacks play, the less effective
they are. And it's one more week of Carson Wentz
and I just I just don't buy Carson Wentz, you know,
as a quarterback that we can trust to play more
and more. And that's a big reason why I like
(01:26:57):
the eagles of this guy. I think Carson Wentz. But
first of all, he's gonna you considered this like a
revenge game, which is I think like the worst I
don't want. I don't want Carson Wentz having to try
to do too much in his in his head about right.
Speaker 2 (01:27:08):
You don't want him playing hero ball because that's been
the downfall with his whole career, is him playing hero ball.
Speaker 3 (01:27:15):
And I just I think that I don't. I don't
want him to think he has to do that in
this game. But I think he's gonna think he's gonna
have to do because it's, you know, the Eagles, and
I want revenge of the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (01:27:23):
And again, I just don't.
Speaker 3 (01:27:24):
I don't. The more backup, the more backup quarterbacks playing,
the less I like them. And we see this throughout
the NFL this season. Like Week one, you're like, oh,
my goodness, back a quarterback. Well good he's playing. By
Week three you're like, oh boys, why.
Speaker 4 (01:27:35):
Is a backup?
Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
So uh, those are some of the reasons. I it's
interesting because KOC has opted to go with Wentz in
this game. I think that McCarthy could have been back.
But AOC, Yeah it's Koc.
Speaker 4 (01:27:54):
Ao Aoc, AOC, I see, I think.
Speaker 2 (01:27:57):
Yeah, I meant to say k I say KOs first
what AOC would call first play? That's that's a horrible anyway.
I'm sorry, my apologies to Koc exactly.
Speaker 4 (01:28:16):
The fact. The fact is that you know he wanted
to go with Wentz. I think I think he sees
something there. Dude.
Speaker 2 (01:28:27):
He still has a good arm man and he's still
he's still athletic.
Speaker 4 (01:28:33):
He's been athletic. We could make maybe disagree on but
he dude, he's athletic. Come on, he can he can. Yeah.
But here's the problem.
Speaker 3 (01:28:41):
Here's a problem with that is that he gets way
too stuck, like he like like, yeah, it's great and all,
but then he does something done because he gets still moved.
Speaker 4 (01:28:50):
Yeah, I actually like yeah without a doubt, like listen,
I'm with you. His whole the.
Speaker 2 (01:28:54):
Downfall of his whole career is two things. One he
tries to play hero backyard ball, and two he's he
never he gets lazy with his mechanics. Yeah, and and
like that can never happen, like you can never throw
off your back foot if you don't need to, right, like,
(01:29:18):
and they'll do that, like little things of his mechanics
are wrong, which is why you see mistakes and and
like as much as you know, he's one of those
guys that he's like Icarust lying close to the sun,
like he gets a little confident and then he thinks
like you could do see Superman.
Speaker 3 (01:29:39):
Yeah, and again that's that's sort of like why I'm
just do just the more he plays, the less I
like here, and so that that's I.
Speaker 2 (01:29:47):
Just don't know with age, like does any of that
go away with that age?
Speaker 5 (01:29:51):
You know?
Speaker 3 (01:29:51):
Think so I don't think. I mean he's had enough football.
We can we've seen him playing that football now to
make that the case. I just I think everyone's gonna
be on Minnesota in this also. Really think I think
people are going to be like Eagles are dead and
blah blah blah. Those things are the favorite. You know,
Yeah it's moved, it's moved. Yeah, uh, start money hit
the Eagles. I think again, I am Eagles have to
(01:30:15):
get right in this game, get have a choice in
my opinion, And so.
Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
I liked Eagles now that one thing is remember this,
they had the Giants next week and then there's a
bye and it's a real buy. So, you know, I
don't know how how right they're going to be able
to get. I mean a lot of it comes down
to with their offenses. Can they run the ball? Like
(01:30:42):
they have to be able to run the ball, because dude,
the way they're passing offenses, it's bad, Like it's troublesome. Yeah,
And there's a lot of talk down there, Like I know,
there's a lot of a lot of talk and a
lot of a lot of meetings and all this other stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:30:59):
Well, let yes, A J. Brown has been no meetings whatsoever.
Speaker 4 (01:31:04):
However there's been meetings everywhere else except with him. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:31:08):
Look, remember though, this is this is the same time,
you know, last year, we were like are the Eagles
or they're gonna fire Ceriani and this and that, and
it ended up just not having to do that and
ended up figuring it out.
Speaker 2 (01:31:17):
Yeah, I mean, I think there's hope the thing here
and then we'll move on. But the thing that's worrying
I think people about the Eagles is the twenty twenty
three collapse when they were yeah, of ten and one
and they just went one in five of the last
you know portion of the schedule, And that's kind of
(01:31:39):
what they're worried about because you saw same kind of things,
like this offense has always been predictable, like they've been
predictable for years with her.
Speaker 4 (01:31:49):
It's a quarterback.
Speaker 3 (01:31:50):
That's just kind of what it is, right, But they're
just bludgeing you with their offensive line, so it doesn't
you know, hasn't mattered, right, That's why Yeah, I agree, Yeah, Yeah, this.
Speaker 4 (01:32:01):
Is my way.
Speaker 3 (01:32:01):
This is why we have the hurts discussion. It's not
because no one thinks he's not he's good. It's because,
you know, you for a quarterback that is supposedly as
good as we think he is, you don't have these
discussions about other quarterbacks, like, you know, can you win
(01:32:22):
while you view things that the run game doesn't work,
or you just don't have those discussions. But with him,
you have it. And that's I think why people think
Hurts is just not the same caliber as some of
the top quarterbacks in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (01:32:34):
Yeah, yeah, now listen, I think there's I think that's fair.
Speaker 4 (01:32:38):
I do. I think that's fair.
Speaker 2 (01:32:41):
The other part of that Super Bowl the Chiefs now, meanwhile,
they're the opposite. They look like they're getting hot, like
they look like they're going about they're going to roll
you get rice back. Their offense suddenly looks as dangerous
as ever. I love where the Chiefs are trending. Man,
(01:33:04):
I mean, I mean, Andy, what a game Sunday night.
I thought there was two heavyweights going at it, and
I love I love where they're at. Man. I just
think the Chiefs are about to I know people have
KC fatigue, but I think they're I think, once again,
the AFC is going to go through them.
Speaker 3 (01:33:25):
Yeah, you know, you've heard me talk about them and
I've said the same thing, like just sort of wait
till we get everyone back, you know, wait till everyone
comes back. And everyone is back, and this week, you know,
Rice is back on the field now, one big development
for them as well as like their offensive line is
just a lot better now. Now Josh Shimmons is out
for this week again. You know, I don't I don't
(01:33:46):
know what's happening there. Clearly there's a family concern that
he's a he's away right now, there's we don't know
what it is, but he's away. But look, they're jealing Moore.
I mean, like, how luckier then they they paid a
left tackle the off season, then drafted left tackle because
he was right there, and the ends up. You know,
that ends up not not you know, being great for
(01:34:06):
them to be able to have that film, but their
offensive line is better. Dude, Mahomes, this is the most
comfortable Mahomes has looked in the pocket in years. I know,
he looks so comfortable in the pocket. And then defensively, look,
I still think they have issues rushing the passer, but
Spag just dials up enough things to make it work
and if they can, so what I'm the thing I'm
(01:34:28):
curious about with Kansas City is what what are they
going to do with if any of the deadline, because
you can make the case running back and pass rusher?
And do they feel like they're close to getting to
the super Bowl? And are they one like who are
(01:34:51):
they a player away from, you know, from from essentially
getting like is it Alvi Kamara sticking with sticking with uh?
Is it is? It? Is it Cam Jordan like with
the you know with the Saints as well as a
pass rusher? Like are they are they one player away
from being the super Bowl team they want? And whether
they go for that because I look with Travis Skelzy
coming back, this feels very much like a go for
(01:35:13):
a year like they like this is we're going for
We're going for a championship And so how much are
they willing to put into making that happen this season?
Speaker 4 (01:35:20):
Yeah? You know they need you know what they need?
Speaker 3 (01:35:22):
They need a quick back? Well, you need a quick back.
So they drafted Smith like they have just Andy Reid.
Like a lot of coaches, it's just not going to
play young guys untill they're really really ready to play,
and you become predictable.
Speaker 4 (01:35:37):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:35:37):
Smith only comes in on third down and when you
play action pass, you know you have to let him
run the wall. But he gets Look, he gets a
couple of carries here and there. He returns kicks like
I think. I don't think he does punts, and it's uh,
Remedio does punts, but he's getting every week.
Speaker 4 (01:35:52):
It's a little more and more, a little more and more. So, Uh,
he's that guy.
Speaker 3 (01:35:56):
And that's why I think pass rush to me is
something they should attack it at the deadline.
Speaker 4 (01:36:02):
Yeah, it's a great it's the truth. It's a great point.
Speaker 2 (01:36:05):
Yeah, they need somebody else in a rotation that can
attack the pass somebody.
Speaker 3 (01:36:10):
Because they've paid and drafted guys that should be able
to do that and they just can't.
Speaker 4 (01:36:15):
I know, well, where's George. He's not very good, I
know that, But who they paid?
Speaker 3 (01:36:24):
They you guys to start stepping up a little bit
and making Yeah, they've missed a lot on pass rusher
over the years, and I think they felt like they
had to pay George to justify some of the draft
picks they've spent. I mean they've had a lot of
whiffs at pass rusher, and they look they have two
young guys that are playing a little bit that seem
like they might be hits. The drafted two guys this year, uh,
(01:36:45):
an edge guy in an inside guy, and it feels
like they're getting a little more run. It does feel
like they feel like they could be hits. But they've
had a lot of whiffs at pass rusher. And they
need George to just develop those contracts getting paid a
lot of money, and he's not. He doesn't win one
on one. And we saw even Trevor Lawrence had three
almost three a half seconds to throw the ball two
weeks ago. Now golf, they heat them up a little
(01:37:05):
bit uh and made them feel uncomfortable. But Chiefs gonna
win this weekend, their twelve point favorite something like that.
They're four and three with boy Buffalo's played. Look, no
one believes the Colts and Patriots are actual title contenders
right and the Chiefs, we know what they can do,
just get in the postseason. Baltimore scuffing right now, Bill's
are scuffing right now. It's there, it's there, it's their
(01:37:27):
conference to take right now. Mahomes MVP favorite and so
just keep keep the good, good vibes going this weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:39:02):
What a performance flast night by sho he Otani. Was
it the greatest performance in baseball history?
Speaker 4 (01:39:07):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (01:39:09):
Yeah, I think that's fair. I truly think that modern history.
Speaker 3 (01:39:13):
I mean modern history. I mean we're going to compare
him to a guy who played one hundred and ten
years ago. But yeah, I mean modern history.
Speaker 4 (01:39:20):
Yes, yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:39:21):
Ten strikeouts and three home runs just crazy, ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (01:39:25):
No, I mean it's silly, right, I mean Jeff and
I were freaking out about it, like it's unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (01:39:32):
What he what he's done, It's incredible.
Speaker 5 (01:39:34):
Quick quick question for you guys. Would you rather have
you were GM forgetting the steroid? Dang him? Or Barry Bonds?
Speaker 3 (01:39:42):
Well, he's more valuable as he pitches, is the better
was the better hitter, more feared hitter? I mean he
also Bonds won eight Gold Gloves. I mean like there's
other he so far hundred bases. I mean I'm also
a Bonds fan. I grew up a Giants fans. I
love Barry Bonds, so I would as a hitter, I
would take Bonds by overall player. I don't know how
you don't you get the pitching too well.
Speaker 5 (01:40:04):
The only the only thing is maybe he gets hurt again.
But yeah, look I get it. But Bonds to me
was just like the best hitter of all time.
Speaker 2 (01:40:11):
But yeah, I've ever I've ever seen was him. You know, No,
you couldn't get a mistake to hitched by him. You
couldn't pitch him in the strike zone. He nobody had
a commandity strike zone like Bonds did.
Speaker 3 (01:40:27):
That's one thing about Bonds that I think good we
don't really like give proper or at least to talk
about fairly, is like he would see one or two
pitches a game to hit.
Speaker 4 (01:40:37):
That was it in the home I know.
Speaker 5 (01:40:40):
Yeah, he was like a savant, true, like he was
absolutely like just again I thought he was a totally
league of his own. But yeah, but Button is the
only guy I've ever seen that I would in my
lifetime that I'd say, all right, I could at least
have a discussion because to me, Bonds, as you said, Jeff,
like gold gloves, the solen bases, the plate that's playing
(01:41:00):
the I mean, there was enough. There was no one
like him. Funny usually and you look at the wave
development of time, you know, Dan Reno was great forty
years ago. Now you have guys become or just as
good down the road. I feel like there's not been
hit or even close to Barry Bonds, you know since
before you know, anytime.
Speaker 4 (01:41:17):
Just my opinion, Junior Junior had a chance.
Speaker 5 (01:41:21):
He was terrific, but he just wasn't as good as
Veray Bonds.
Speaker 4 (01:41:24):
That's not well because of the injuries. I mean, Junior
was a great wire man.
Speaker 5 (01:41:34):
It was a great, great player and obviously had the
glove any of the power. But but he Barry Bonds,
his own baser stands was like, I'm not.
Speaker 2 (01:41:45):
I'm not six is better than Bonds, because listen, I
covered baseball during that era, and you know, I remember
sitting in.
Speaker 4 (01:41:53):
His locker room.
Speaker 2 (01:41:54):
He was close to I did a story one time.
It was awesome. It was a great story. There was
an off day in San Francisco and I hung out
with Bonds and Bania. Bonds was was the Mets and
Bonds of the Giants, and we did you know, they
(01:42:15):
went shopping, So I just tagged along with them while
they went shopping. And then we had launched and and
hung out all day and it was like this day
with these two dudes, who were really good friends, and
it was just at it was a cool story and
like you know, it was it was it was interesting anyway,
all right, boys, let's get to it. Here we go.
(01:42:38):
We start with college like we ever do, like we
always do at New Today. Brain you pay bills at Vanderbilt, Jeff,
his son.
Speaker 4 (01:42:48):
Goes to Vandy. Okay, So Vandy against LSU. How you see.
Speaker 5 (01:42:55):
It's it's crazy start the first time I'm sorry, Vanderbilt
has been favored in an SEC game, Jeff. To see this,
I think it was like in seventy three games or
something like that.
Speaker 3 (01:43:08):
First first time if against lsuson World War two, I believe.
Speaker 4 (01:43:12):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (01:43:13):
Yeah, this is a hard game for me, Anthony, because
the way the teams have actually just me watching the games,
I think LSU, I'm sorry, I think Vanderbilt has been
the more impressive team. But that being said, I was
a little surprised about this line, I really was. I
thought that LSU would be a trainy favorite. Instead they
(01:43:34):
flipped it. I only Killeen LSU here, but not a game,
I bet, because I actually think Vanderbildy is good. I
don't think they're fake. But only Kaleen LSU for.
Speaker 3 (01:43:44):
Me also at noon. I like your Wolverines a lot today.
It's one of my favorite players of the day. I
think we're overreacting a little bit to their loss against USC.
And Washington's defense is atrocious. Their ninetieth in the country
on third down. They also terribly on the road. It's
an early bodyclock game for Washington. What do you do
(01:44:04):
about your Wolverines today?
Speaker 5 (01:44:05):
I can to ask you a question about that, Jeff,
I'm sorry I do this is actually as a handicap.
Would love to hear your thing. I always hear the
body clock thing. And I'm curious for you is was
like an elite athlete. How true is that?
Speaker 4 (01:44:19):
So?
Speaker 3 (01:44:20):
Obviously I never played real I never had a game
that early. But I will tell you based off of
what we've seen so far this season. Right Oregon went
to Northwestern at twelve o'clock Eastern and that they started
slow as can be. I was at that game, and
now part of that environment, Northwestern with their temp stadium
is just really hard to play in. But I watched
the firsthand. Oregon was flat as can be. USC went
(01:44:41):
to Illinois, they were they started slow in that game.
The counter would be UCLA last week against Michigan State,
they started a little faster than both those teams. My brother,
and that's a long time ago. Cow went to Maryland
and played a twelve pm game when my brother was
at cal They started super slow in that game. So
I could just go off of what I've seen, which
is that these truths tend to start slow. And then
(01:45:03):
you add on the fact that Washington has been atrocious
on the road under Jed Fish. They went to Maryland
around twenty nothing in that game before making a miraculous
fourth quarter comeback. So I think it has to matter
because people talk about enough, we have enough evidence over
the years that it really does seem to matter.
Speaker 4 (01:45:21):
It is a real thing. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:45:22):
Well for me though, in this fine jet of that
being said, I guess have been incredibly unimpressed with Michigan.
The only times I was impressed with them is when
Cheron Moore didn't coach.
Speaker 4 (01:45:33):
It's true, that's true. Yeah, you're right, Befted be good.
Speaker 5 (01:45:36):
Yeah, I just can't. I cannot lay points with the
Michigan I can't do it. I think next year's a
team that we'll see a jump from this team. And
like everything you said about Washington extremely valid. I thought
this line came in at least a few points too
high personally. But again, I've just been incredibly unimpressed with Michigan.
So I for me, it's Washington, their past.
Speaker 4 (01:45:56):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:45:56):
We got to move quick, all right. I want to
throw them at you, all right, because we'll do college,
then we'll go to the NFL. We got to move fast. Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:46:03):
Georgia Tech and Duke Boys Duke. Uh, that line is
ticked up to three and a half frame.
Speaker 5 (01:46:11):
Wow, Yeah, I'm gonna be at the game. Go, I'm
here at Duke right now. I'm gonna be at the game.
That's probably a tick too. I thought the line should
have been more like two to two and a half.
So it's three and a half. I'd have to lean
towards the dog.
Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
I took Duke in the contest at minus one and
a half, so I mean I'm talking like that now.
Speaker 5 (01:46:29):
Yeah, it's great value.
Speaker 4 (01:46:32):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:46:33):
Uh, let's go, let's go. There's one of the early
one and that's interesting to me. Baylor and TCU, Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:46:43):
For for me, for me, in that particular game, if
tc start off good, lost a couple of games in
a row, Baylor I just you know, it's funny. I
just I like the quarterback. I think Sawyer Robertson's tough
to me. I lean Baylor, but tough game, oh.
Speaker 4 (01:46:59):
For this one, not this? Yeah? All right?
Speaker 2 (01:47:02):
Oklahoma South Carolina? Oh you coming off the Red rivalry loss.
Speaker 4 (01:47:09):
Four and a half?
Speaker 5 (01:47:11):
Yeah, I don't trust Oklahoma offensively enough. To me, it's
the dog or pass do not trust Oklahoma.
Speaker 3 (01:47:20):
South Carolina is a huge public dog today.
Speaker 4 (01:47:23):
I don't. I don't love it.
Speaker 3 (01:47:24):
I mean, five and a half is better than what
it's at now, which it was most of the week.
But I would South Carolina nothing. But it's just everyone
goes South Carolina does worry me?
Speaker 4 (01:47:32):
All right? Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:47:34):
Ohio State Wisconsin number one team in the country.
Speaker 5 (01:47:37):
Brain, I mean yeah, I mean, I'm sure they're going
to smoke them. But again, it was within a point
in half of my numbers. So for me, it's a.
Speaker 3 (01:47:46):
Pass WIS contest team total seven and a half. Do
they score more than seven? Is the question this game?
Speaker 5 (01:47:51):
For me?
Speaker 4 (01:47:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:47:56):
Uh three thirty Georgia miss the unbeaten Reds go in
the Athens GEORGIEA is seven and a half?
Speaker 5 (01:48:07):
Brain man, he Misissippi. I cannot get Jeff, I'm sure
for your tickets. I cannot get last week's stanch game
of the Washington State game out of my mind. For me,
Georgia pass, I just can't get that game and just
say that, I can't get that out of my mind.
I lean Georgia.
Speaker 3 (01:48:23):
So it was obviously a great, big look ahead spot
for Old Miss, but that doesn't really excuse the way
they played for sixty minutes though. Like first raft, you're like, okay, sure, uh.
I mentioned this earlier, like Champus playing his first true
road game in one in one in basically one A right,
and FCS is a big deal and I think it's
gonna be a really tough spot for him. U. Plus,
(01:48:44):
I just like George's moxie. Man they're not great, they
not the same thing they've been in the past, but man,
they really do, like really man up those big moments.
I like Georgia in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:48:54):
All right, let's go sm U Clemson. I know you
an opinion on this game earlier in the week.
Speaker 5 (01:49:01):
Brain, Well, yeah, what's the one seeing right now? Because
I I can't look it up the yeah, yeah, yeah,
it's funny. I get some some good information on this
one before Lenolan was nine and a half. Yeah, I
just don't trust Clemson. But again the line is now collapsed.
Speaker 4 (01:49:21):
Pass for me.
Speaker 5 (01:49:22):
I don't like either team.
Speaker 8 (01:49:23):
Me.
Speaker 5 (01:49:23):
To me, some among the most disappoint teams in the nation.
I don't like either team.
Speaker 4 (01:49:28):
Well, no, no club then today? Right? Correct?
Speaker 5 (01:49:31):
So yeah, that was the information I got.
Speaker 3 (01:49:34):
I'll just I'll just pass.
Speaker 2 (01:49:36):
Yeah, all right, let's go to the evening. Let's start
with Rutgers in Oregon. We got the the Mighty Duck
with us brain. What's your take on this game?
Speaker 5 (01:49:51):
I only listen. I think that line's too high. I
do way too high. And because it's the Oregon Yeah,
that game against Penn State. Oh my god, Oregon's there there,
They're arrived. And then you're like, huh maybe not yet.
To me, I think the line's too high. I think
there's this decent team. I actually think Brookers Knox saying
are gonna win that would be disingenuous, but I think
they'll keep it close.
Speaker 3 (01:50:13):
I think if I think it's way too high, I
would take the over there. I think there's a lot
of points scored in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:50:18):
All right, Uh, Iowa and Penn State Iowas stream a
half over the toothless Penn State Knitney Lions.
Speaker 5 (01:50:29):
Yeah, I think we talked about it. I don't think
I've seen a fall from Grace ever. Ever, during like
mid year, they would tap them with Penn State. To me,
it's Iowa pass but again, laying place at Iowa, you're
not usually taking you to have them so passed from me.
Speaker 3 (01:50:43):
I took Iowa two and a half when I dropped.
I think yesterday did before that. I think I think
Penn State every word. I've gone out of their program
as they're sort of dead right now, and I don't
know if the actual change it makes any difference.
Speaker 4 (01:50:55):
Iowa's gonna blok. He's a in Iowa. Man.
Speaker 3 (01:50:58):
They do what they do are They're not gonna be
you know, they won thirty seven nothing last week. It's
not gonna matter to them. They're they're gonna play their game.
And uh, I think Iowa covers this game. I think
it's ugly twenty ten, twenty thirteen, it's not gonna be
very pretty to watch.
Speaker 4 (01:51:14):
They may shut them out. Yeah, I like Iowa. Yeah,
I agree.
Speaker 7 (01:51:18):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:51:19):
Tennessee Alabama brain Bama eight and a half.
Speaker 5 (01:51:23):
Yeah, it's funny, but for me, it's and I think Bama.
I like that. I think that they're they did play
the very top, but I don't think. I don't think
Tennessee is quite as good as maybe people think. I
think Alabama won just won by margin. Give me Alabama
lay in the points.
Speaker 3 (01:51:40):
Yeah, miss earlier. I like Alabama. I think Tennessee's defense
is not what it was last season. I really like
that Alabama's playing the only the onliest. The only concern
I have is that this is Alabama's basically fourth straight
like big game, dude, you know they have the juice
in this game, you know, fourth quarter. That's the only
question about.
Speaker 2 (01:51:57):
That they have the defense to shut Tennessee down.
Speaker 3 (01:52:01):
Well, it's it's about explosive runs, right, Alabama's run defense
is fine. They just a lot a ton of explosives.
If you can eliminate the explosive, they're going to be
fine on defense.
Speaker 4 (01:52:09):
All right?
Speaker 2 (01:52:10):
How about this, Well, Notre Dame and USC Brave the Irish.
Speaker 4 (01:52:15):
I lovely Irish.
Speaker 5 (01:52:16):
You know, Notre Dame is a team that I think
mayn't really like Notre Dame. And then it's funny like
the they're losses. Now you look at them. They mean
the A and M loss. They had that game, and
A and M is obviously a really good team, and
then the Miami game they were you know right there
until lest play. The line's higher, and I would like it.
I was really hoping this would come in like because USC,
perception wise about maybe is overrated. But the line's a
(01:52:39):
little too high for me actually lay the points, but
it would maybe be Notre Dame or pass.
Speaker 4 (01:52:43):
What do you make of this?
Speaker 3 (01:52:44):
So this is one of those like public like I
don't know if public sharpings, but USC is a huge
public side this week, and that number has not moved
at all. So I took Notre Dame minus nine and
a half. US has not won this game. When there
mcan Riley, I know well close to that program. I
don't think feel very comfortable about this game for USC.
If they get behind it all, they're sort of cooked
(01:53:06):
in this game. So I like Notre Dame to cover
this game. And Riley again fails as a road underdog.
Speaker 4 (01:53:13):
Yep, all right, boys, we're gonna take a quick too.
Speaker 2 (01:53:17):
We'll come back NFL Next Fellas on Fox Welcome Back Fellas,
Jeff Schwartz, Anthony Gargato and the brain. As we take
a look rapid fire the NFL this weekend, Boys Week seven,
we begin That's it Abroad, Another game abroad in the
(01:53:42):
European Series, this time the Rams and Jacksonville.
Speaker 4 (01:53:48):
The Rams oddly.
Speaker 2 (01:53:51):
Went over yesterday and they stayed all week in Baltimore
and then went over yesterday. No, pooka brain, how do
you see this one?
Speaker 5 (01:54:01):
It's funny, Jacke, you just went over. You talked about
the whole Washington football thing right about why you don't
like them against Michigan. It's almost like to me, and again,
I don't pretend to be something I'm not, but it
almost feels like mcday's like, I don't say this game.
I get HI at Jackson Go. I like Jacksonville. I
think Jackson's No. One out right.
Speaker 3 (01:54:23):
I don't know if Jackson's wide wide receivers will savagine
Trevor Lawrence another week.
Speaker 4 (01:54:26):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (01:54:27):
I just I am off this game. I try to
avoid the London game as much as possible.
Speaker 4 (01:54:33):
Chiefs and Raiders, big number.
Speaker 2 (01:54:36):
We remember what happened in Black Friday last year against
the Raiders and then later on in this season. Eleven
and a half for Kansas City.
Speaker 5 (01:54:44):
Brain to me, I didn't bet it, but it's Kansas
City your past.
Speaker 3 (01:54:49):
Uh maybe if you if you really really want to
get down on it. Chiefs team total over is about
what I can give you. The Chiefs don't cover these
games historically with any read.
Speaker 4 (01:54:57):
They don't, but I did.
Speaker 2 (01:54:59):
I think they're about to on a run, like they
start blowing teams out.
Speaker 3 (01:55:04):
I also think if your if your sports book of
choice offers like a first reception prop, I think they're
gonna try to get where she raised the ball in
the first play of the game.
Speaker 4 (01:55:12):
That's an Andy move. Yes, I could see that. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:55:15):
Uh, Dolphins and Brown's Browns two and a half in
the Battle of Stak cheap.
Speaker 5 (01:55:24):
Brain, this look, I bet Cleveland. I only League one
and a half, but I think Cleveland's gonna win. But again,
the big thing to hear is the weather. Again, I Jeffa,
I don't know if you were able to get down.
I was betting under twenty in the first half, under
forty and a half in the game because of the weather,
and I have a very sizable position on under. I
think it's now down to thirty five and a half.
(01:55:45):
Essentially up to what sixty miles per wins. That's the case.
Good luck. And by the way, if any of your
sportsbooks offer long field goal which minded fifteen and a
half yards, uh, let's just say talk about free money.
That would be the definition.
Speaker 3 (01:55:59):
I have under forty and a half. I got the
ticket in before weather News became crazy. I also parlayed
both quarterback passing yards under on Wednesday or Thursday whenever
it was available, so I have that. I also have
the Browns in my contest this week. I think of Dolphins,
this is like the worst spot ever from Miami in
the bad weather. Yeah, I'm gonna take the Dolphins in
(01:56:21):
bad weather. I think the Browns defensively. I was also
last thing quickly on this one. As a player on
a bad team. I've been on bat teams before. You
know which games you can win. And the Browns realize
they can win this game and we'll see a different
effort from them.
Speaker 2 (01:56:36):
Yeah, all right, Titans six and a half catching at
home against the Patriots.
Speaker 5 (01:56:43):
Yeah, I don't quite understand this, lone. I gotta be honest.
I think New England's still underrated in the market, and
I don't think people understand how bad Tennessee is I
think Tennessee is right there as one of the worst
teams I've seen in the last five years. I don't
know if you agree. I think they're like in their
own category. In terms of the two this year, I
thought fun I should have been closer to eight.
Speaker 3 (01:57:03):
I got nothing for this one. I'm not betting on
Tennessee and I just I road favorite LE seven I'm
gonna stay away from.
Speaker 4 (01:57:09):
I think the win those underrated too. I'll tell you that.
Speaker 2 (01:57:13):
Jets and Panthers Carolina is a one a half point
favorite on the road.
Speaker 5 (01:57:19):
Yeah, I've been under forty three. It's down a forty
one forty one and a half game itself. Man, just
a chance, No, Garrett Wilson, Bryce Shung's been atrocious on
the road. I couldn't. I just couldn't bet a side here.
I don't even know what side I would take. It
would be too difficult for me. But Aaron Glenn Jeff
real quick. I've never seen coaching like what he did
in that game. If I was a player, I wouldn't
(01:57:40):
even able to look the guy in the fish.
Speaker 3 (01:57:43):
I think justin fields under in this game makes sense.
I don't know if he makes it in the whole
sixty minutes as their quarterback in this game.
Speaker 2 (01:57:49):
Yeah, all right, two minute warning gets hit us. We've
got two minutes. Bears and Saints. Bears laying four and
a half in New Orleans against our girl breeze Saints.
Speaker 3 (01:58:00):
It's at home, by the.
Speaker 5 (01:58:00):
Way, it's at home. I did bet that Saints plus
five they have. I think they keep this one close.
Speaker 3 (01:58:06):
Saints or nothing.
Speaker 4 (01:58:08):
Yeah, I like the Orles in the game.
Speaker 2 (01:58:10):
Uh. Eagles Vikings Eagles two and a half in Minnesota.
Speaker 5 (01:58:15):
Brain, I think it's a fifty to fifty game. To me,
it's Vikings are passed. I think it's fifty to fifty,
So I'll take the points.
Speaker 3 (01:58:23):
I'm not taking two and a half now. And the
Eagles were getting a point earlier this week. I think
I'll pass this one. I don't you got the Eagles
getting points. No, I'm saying they were early this week,
weren't they. No, they'd started off always a freak.
Speaker 4 (01:58:38):
I'm wrong.
Speaker 3 (01:58:38):
I'm sorry. No, I got nothing for this one.
Speaker 4 (01:58:40):
I haven't bet. I didn't bet it, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:58:43):
Colts Chargers, Colts laying two and a half. I mean
Charged lay two and a half at home.
Speaker 5 (01:58:49):
Yeah, I bet the Chargers laying one and a half.
I think the Chargers win.
Speaker 4 (01:58:52):
This one same.
Speaker 3 (01:58:53):
So it's one of my best bets of the week.
Speaker 4 (01:58:55):
Chargers, Oh, I like it all right.
Speaker 2 (01:58:57):
The Ego Boys Bronco was laying seven and a half
at home against the Giants.
Speaker 5 (01:59:03):
I think it's yeah, this was my biggest bet. I
got six, Manter, you get to still get seven. And
I think this is going to be such a different
game in the Eagles game. I think we're fourteen plus
for Donner.
Speaker 3 (01:59:15):
We're on all the same places I got. I got
Denver minus seven.
Speaker 2 (01:59:19):
That's one of all, right, Packers, Cardinals, Packers seven and
a half.
Speaker 4 (01:59:23):
Arizona brain to.
Speaker 5 (01:59:25):
Me, it's Arizona pass.
Speaker 3 (01:59:26):
Didn't bet it, stay away.
Speaker 2 (01:59:28):
All right, Cowboys, Commanders, Cowboys one and a half brain.
Speaker 5 (01:59:33):
I actually did make a small bat on Dallas plus two,
and now there's laying a little bit. I think Dallas
one's stay.
Speaker 4 (01:59:38):
Away, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:59:39):
That's gonna do it for oz fellas, love you guys,
see you next week because
