Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports UD.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Hello and welcome to Fox Sports Saturday. I am Tracy Sandler,
Thrilled whenever and always, joined by Bridget Condon. Bridget, welcome back.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
It's probably been a little too long forgot to turn
on the talk button. That's a good way to start
the show. Tracy. I'm happy to be back with you,
and I'm happy that we still are talking about the
Pacers and the thunder two weeks later.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
I was thinking about that. It was like two weeks ago,
we're talking about Game two, what's gonna happen? You were
singing your what the helly song all the time, What
the helly? And then now we have a Game seven
on Tomorrow night at a pm Eastern five Pacific. For
those of you who want to tune in, it is
the first Game seven since twenty sixteen. I gotta tell you, Bridget,
when my team isn't in it, I love a game seven.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Remember how coming into this NBA Finals series, everybody was like,
I'm not watching. These are two teams without stars. This
is gonna be boring, worst Finals ever. We have our
first Game seven in almost a decade. You're telling me
that this is an incredible TV. Plus what happened Thursday night.
Who's not tuned into this game? Everybody's talking about it,

(01:15):
even if you didn't know who the Pacers were two
weeks ago. You're watching on Sunday night.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
And I know you are all in on the Pacers
just for fun. I'm gonna be all in on the Thunder.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Of course you are.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Why not?

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I hate me?

Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yes? Well, there is the dog issue. I just very quickly.
Bridget and I were talking before. I have two dogs.
I love dogs. Bridget was saying she's not a dog person,
but she wants to support.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Look, you're gonna like have people coming after me. You
can't say I'm not a dog person. Let me just
be very just be very clear. I like dogs, but
like I'm just my husband's allergic to them.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
I'm staring at her with I'm trying to like pick.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
My words very wisely. I got bit by a big
dog when I was little, and I'm just afraid of dogs.
I'll admit a I'm afraid of them.

Speaker 2 (02:04):
I'm afraid of them. Growing up.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
My parents have a she Shan, which is like a
Teddy bear dog, very small and cute. Love him. His
name's Huxley, but like a big dog. Oh, I'm screaming.
I'm scared.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
I'm terrified. It's fair. I can sometimes be scared of
big dogs.

Speaker 3 (02:17):
But I'm still a good person.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I would say that's most likely true. I don't know
how to think about but I think I know you
are still a good person. I just think the Bill
Murray is a great quote. He says, I trust a
dog that doesn't like a person, but I don't trust
a person that doesn't like a dog. Oh wow, okay,
thanks Bill. So but anyways, you're amazing and I love you,
and I'm glad you're my friends.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
I'm working on it. I'm in therapy to start liking
dogs again.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Okay, that's fair. All right, let's get back to Game seven,
unless you just want to talk about dogs for two hours,
which I totally could do.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
Well, we are talking about dogs, those dogs in Indiana.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
I like that. Good job, nice segue. I like that.
I like that. All right. You talked about Thursday night
Pacers Dominate started slow and then just it was all
pacers all the time.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Which coming into the game, Tyree's Hall had that calf injury,
still has it. He didn't look like he did.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
No, he didn't.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Yeah, he wasn't. Maybe didn't put up as many numbers
as like he could have in a Game six, but
he's still the assists and the way that he performed.
He that's the difference to me. The effort that the
Pacers showed. It felt like and of course they needed
to win to keep the season the series alive, but
it felt like they were playing with everything and it

(03:24):
just kind of felt like the thunder came out and
maybe thought like we have this in the bag, like
ty Reees isn't gonna be playing well, and if he is,
you know, he's not gonna be that big of a threat,
and they just the energy wasn't there.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I agree with that. It's interesting. Haliburton said that he
said to Rick Carlisle, his coach, that if he didn't
look like himself, pull him out of the game, and
Kyla said, he did look like himself, So I didn't.
But you bring up a really good point because Sga said,
we came in, we may have been thinking a week
and win tonight, but didn't put the effort. He didn't
say this part. I'm saying his part, but maybe didn't

(03:56):
put the effort into winning but it's gonna be really interesting.
Don't expect that kind of performance from the Thunder tomorrow
by any means.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
And their back home, I mean, they're so good at home.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
They're so good at home.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
But that's just the difference.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
But it was a difference Thursday.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
But like to be a really, really really good team
in NBA Finals championship team, the difference of like what
you do on the road and at home is it
doesn't feel like the Thunder. And this is why I'm
like all in on the Pacers. It doesn't feel like
I thought it was the song. I mean it's the
song too for sure, like TikTok's gonna go viral, like
this is my big moment once he wins. No, but

(04:33):
like the it doesn't feel like they have, for whatever reason,
all of the pieces. And like the maturity, even what
you were saying about what Tyree said to Carlisle. You
have to be so mature to be able to say that,
like take me out if I don't look good and
the ego isn't really there either, like to be able
to say, like I'll ride the bench, like as long
as my team can win and advance to Game seven.

(04:55):
So all that to say, I think there's something missing
there for the Thunder. And we saw the the Cracks
come come through Thursday. I understand it was in Indiana,
and I understand the Thunder has like have an insane
record eight and one this year at home, this playoff,
the entire playoffs this year. But it just feels like

(05:16):
the Pacers like have something in them and it's gonna
be a close game. Don't get me wrong, It's gonna
be a close game. I just feel like the veteran
leaders that are on the Pacers are gonna be the
difference maker.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
I could see that. I could see that. I think
I'm really excited about it. I think, I don't know,
I think it's gonna be really really fun. Now, there's
a couple of things that the Thunder did badly well,
a lot of things because they were totally dominated. But
they had twenty one turnovers. Yeah, SGA had eight of them.
Oklahoma City shot thirty eight point two percent through the
three quarters where the starters were in the game, but

(05:49):
the fourth quarter they kind of punted the game away.
That is obviously going to have to change. I expected
to change, but you're right, the Pacers' now you're trying
to convince me, and you maybe do. The Racers do
have a little something and there is a maturity there.
But I don't know. I don't know why I'm so
in on the Thunder, why I want them to try.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
I mean, listen, everybody, if you look at logics and
you look at facts, and you look at the box scores,
but wants to look at those things? No, Like I understand. Like,
if you're using your logic, you are thinking the Thunder
are going to win. They're back at home. But I'm
here to tell you the Pacers are about to shock
the world. Everybody is worried about this home court advantage
that the Thunder has. What about momentum, because the Pacers

(06:29):
are coming in to Sunday with incredible momentum. They just
beat them by twenty. You know, their defense and depth,
that is what's going to carry them to becoming NBA champions. SGA,
you just kind of talked on it a little bit.
His turnovers in game six. To me, if you're a
star and right, he's the star and if they win,

(06:50):
he's going to be MVP. You don't make that many
mistakes in a game six where you have the opportunity
all to win.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
It all me a.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Lack of focus, and that is what I think their
problem is. Because they have such young guys. There's just
a different mindset and it's like everybody thinks that the
Thunder is gonna win and they are going to go
home and they're going to do it. But something about
like being the underdog for the Pacers that I just
think they believe themselves and doesn't matter that nobody else does,

(07:22):
and they're going to do it.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
I don't necessarily think the Thunder for sure going to win.
I just for some reason have decided I'm all in
on this young Thunder team. I also feel like Oklahoma City,
like they're the they're the big tea team and all
the things. I don't know that that is where I'm
at right now.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
But I have against Indiana. Is it something to do
with combine?

Speaker 2 (07:40):
No, A conbine would make me love Indiana. I love
the combine.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
How many times at Elmos?

Speaker 2 (07:46):
I want to see the Pacers go to Prime and celebrate,
celebrated to Saint Elmos. I really I did. Can you
imagine Prime if they win? I can't. It would be
like the combine times a million and a half.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
For everybody who doesn't know. Prime is a steakhouse in
Indiana Indianapolis where during combine they stay open until like
four in the morning. Yeah, and everybody goes. Everybody gets
in trouble, Like I mean, nobody gets in trouble, but
like they people are what do you do in staying
out there until just late morning? And it's just it's chaos.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
It is.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
It's like chaos.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
It's like camp for these college uh not college, they're professional,
professional coaches, and it's chaos.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
It's it's it's really busy. I can't even imagine what
would happen.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
You walk in there and then you like walk out
and you've been in there for six hours and you're like, wait,
where at the time?

Speaker 2 (08:34):
I know time time is not a thing in Prime. Yeah,
which is very interesting.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
And I need the pacers twin so everybody can go
party at Prime.

Speaker 2 (08:42):
I think Prime feels very similarly to you do that
to you, I really do. I think San Elmo's also
feels very similarly.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Like how about a shrimp cocktail?

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Yes, with the horse radish yep.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
I can like feel it in my nose right now.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Yeah, it's pretty great. If you have a cold, I
recommend going there, all right, So let's say they Well,
I'm gonna say both both teams win. You just mentioned
SJA would probably of course be the MVP should the
Thunder win. But who is your MVP? I want to
know who your MVP would be on either team?

Speaker 3 (09:14):
SGA for sure on the Thunder. And I understand this
is probably gonna make people mad that I'm gonna say
Halliburton because I know that you know, he hasn't been
essentially the star every single game, but what he did
Game one, remember the point three seconds yep, and then

(09:34):
playing on this CAF injury. To me, that is an MVP.
You are the most valuable player for this team, Like
you're putting everything out there to help this team win
a championship. And not just what he's done on the court,
but like the way he's gotten his teammates to rally
around him and like just play with such momentum, motivation energy.

(09:54):
I'm all in on him, you know, I am. I
was trying to find a jersey. I'm actually wearing a
Sparks jersey today, second best to I'm like, I want
to get a Halibert in jersey, but I'm also from Boston,
so this is kind of confusing me. I'm like, why
am I rooting for the Pacers?

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Well, I don't see pay the Pacers is Boston's biggest rival,
But like, why am I? But wouldn't you rather the
conference to conference wins? See? This is where I go
back and forth. Okay, like what are you?

Speaker 3 (10:21):
What are you?

Speaker 2 (10:22):
I mean, I'm a Lakers fan.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
No, no, no, I know, But like, are you someone
who would want the same conference or the opposing conference?

Speaker 2 (10:30):
So two things. I probably actually wouldn't even think about
the conference. I would just go with who I wanted
to win. I am a person that would prefer whoever
beat my team to win because I'd rather lose to
the winner than And by I I didn't play in
any of the games with the team.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
I like, of course you did, Yes, he yelled at
the TV.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
Yes, I did. You're right a lot. Actually I did
that a lot. We're going to talk about that a
little later in the show. But I was yelling at
the TV a lot this week. So I don't know
if I would actually think of the conference. I'm just
really trying to help you out. But okay, it's a
good way to think about it. I mean, maybe that's
why I'm SOI w in on the thunder. I just
want the West to win.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
I feel like I shouldn't want anybody to win, experience
to win. Okay, all right, fine, I'll just admit it.
I really want the Pacers and tell Halber into just
shock everyone so that I could don't sound like crazy.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
I think what's funny is that you just said, I'll
just admit it, as if you hadn't been talking about
the last twelve minutes, but you wanted.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Was not being unbiased?

Speaker 2 (11:23):
You imagine I'm biased? Were you going to talk about
it that you want the Pacers to win? It is?
It's a little ars but in a good way.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
I don't think there's something wrong with it. I like
the I was a make up, a word of reality
of it. It's not a real word, but I like it.
Nonethe last, I want the game to be tonight. Why
do we have to wait till Sunday? Well, you know
TV writes all that stuff.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
I know, but like, come on Saturday night, game seven.
I know that sounds like a dream come true. It
would have been a dream Sunday night. We're gonna have
to get up and you know, have our lives on Monday.

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Yes, that's true. Though we're on the West coast, We're
lucky because it's five o'clock game, so for us it'll
be easier to get up and have our lives on Monday.
But I don't know, I feel like I'm forty seven.
Maybe bump in tomorrow night.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
Any Pacers fans, if you're looking into if no, if
you're like listening to this, like I don't know what
to do. If they win, go to Prime, say and
say we sent you. Say say the girls from the
NFL Combine sent you.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Yep, they will. They will probably know it's us. Maybe not,
but I think I think we should that. Okay, I
don't know. I'm really excited about this game. I actually
like a Sunday game, to be honest, you, I like
a Sunday night game seven because you end the week
with it. You've like had your day. It's five o'clock.
I think it also makes me feel a little bit
like Sunday night football, Like there's a big sporting event
on on Sunday night, and so sometimes I miss the

(12:41):
football often.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Wait, feel like that.

Speaker 3 (12:44):
I totally cut you off and went on a tangent,
Who are your MVP?

Speaker 4 (12:48):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Yes, okay a SJA though I okay, I could make
a case and I don't know that this would win,
But I could make a case for Jalen Williams. I
think he's been very important in the series recently. He's
been able to kind of take over, So I would
make a case for him, but probably SGA, And then
I think I would give it to Halliburton. But I
think Pascal could also A case could be made for him.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
I know, I thought you were going to for sure
say him. I know a lot of people think he
should be MVP, which I understand.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Yeah, and I think Tyresee might even think that he
should be MVP.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
I'm sure he does. Like he has such a yeah,
caring like it just seems like he's very open to
he being a team player.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Yeah, I think he has opened to being a team player.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Did you see what his This is actually in one
of my later segments, but did you see what his
what he said about what his wife told him or girlfriend.

Speaker 2 (13:34):
Before Love Island? We got to put something on that Calf.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
I mean, like, come on, you guys, have you not
been rooting for this guy? And if you aren't, now
you have to.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
I think Bridget has made a really strong case that
if you weren't before, everyone is on the Pacers train.
We are going to be back on this train in
just a little bit. This is Fox Sports Saturday.

about something that I'm so excited to talk about. I've
been talking about it for days, and we're gonna talk
about it now.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
Now.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
I will say this, The Dodgers and the Padres have
their own games this week, and they're not playing each other.
Fernando Tatisa's hand is fine, we can get into that.
But this week we saw the Potters and the Dodgers
in what I'm gonna say is the best rivalry in
baseball right now. I want to hear what you have
to say. But it was a crazy series starting with

(15:03):
Monday night. I was at the game, sho Otani making
his major league pitching, not major legue pitching debut, but
his debut since the injury, the debut for the Dodgers.
It was so quiet in that stadium you could have
heard a pin drop. But show hey basically making a
rehab start against Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis, whereas most
people do it in the minor leagues. But did you
watch any of the series? Did you see all the

(15:24):
hit batsman? What do you think?

Speaker 3 (15:25):
Absolutely? I cannot wait to talk to you about this
and full disclosure. Tracy and I like started talking about
this before the show started, and I said stop because
I want to get your thoughts on air. You're probably
the first person that I thought of when all this
was happening, because Tracy, would you call yourself like the
president of the show. Heytan Otani fan club.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
I share it with my mom. But yeah, your mom,
I would say that's that's fair.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Yeah, no, absolutely, I'm actually disappointing.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Oh, Vice president, a lot of things.

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Yeah, you have so much show Hey, Otani Gear, I'm
kind of upset that you're not wearing anything tonight with
show Hay's name on it.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
I know that is kind of surprising. I thought about
it on my way here. I did the last two
weeks I wore show heo Tani Gear here, so I
didn't know if it was overkilled. But then that's ridiculous,
So that was a mistake on my end.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
It won't really Yes, we'll apologize to the fan club
on the show. Hey, but no, this is crazy to
me so many different thoughts, and as somebody who grew
up born and raised in Boston, I was like, the
reason why I fell in love with sports is because
I was there Game four Alcs between the Red Sox
and the Yankees. When the Red Sox won thanks to

(16:30):
Big Poppy, I could just keep going and going and going.
But anyways, when they reverse the curse, like I know,
a good rivalry and this one Red Sox Yankees will
always be the best rivalry in baseball. You can argue
me on that for decades for his like forever, it'll
be the best rivalry in baseball. But right now, in
this very moment, Dodgers Padres is the best rivalry because

(16:54):
it has just gotten so crazy and both teams have
such big stars. When you have stars as big as
they have, there's so much pressure to win and when things,
you know, Padres always feel a little threatened by the Dodgers, right,
like correct San Diego and Los Angeles not that far apart.
The Dodgers have always been kind of like the big brother, right,
and the Padres want to unseat them. They want to

(17:16):
be the one that is at the top. When you
think about good baseball in California, it just hasn't happened.
And so when they have the opportunity to take them down,
like it's like when you have somebody. Of course we
don't because we're not jealous people. But if you have
somebody that you're competing with in your industry, right and
every little tiny thing they do wrong, you maximize it

(17:37):
because you're so upset you want to beat them. That's
what's happening right now. Over eight over four games, eight
players were hit, including show Hey Yes over seven games
ten players were.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
Hit like this has gotten too.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
It was just kept boiling, boiling, boiling, and then we
saw when both benches erupted. We can talk about it,
and I want to hear your thoughts on There were
definitely two different scenario two players hit by pitches, but
they were very different.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
They were very, very different. And the thing with these
teams is they generally also don't like each other. The
two managers went after each other. That's what happened the
other night when Tatis Scott hit. So Tatis Scott hit
a number of times in this series. I really don't
believe any of them were intentional. You know, Andy Pie
has got hit on Monday night and he thought it
was intentional. I don't think it was intentional. I think
Andy kind of got excited there. The Padres manager, I think,

(18:26):
said something pretty not nice to him, Basically, who the
belief do you think you are that we'd even hit you?
Not cool? Not cool. So then Andy Pie has went
on to have like a tremendous series. But both nights
Tatis Scott hit. Show Hey then gets hit intentionally, I mean,
and then I don't think anyone can argue that.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
And here's my thing. Sorry to interrupt you, but like
I have to get this off my chest. If you
were going to hit somebody.

Speaker 2 (18:52):
Don't hit Show Hey. O Tani.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Do you know how big Japan is the amount of
fans that show has internationally and here in America? Like,
why are you doing that?

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Will you pick someone? I mean, why are you hitting
Show Hey?

Speaker 3 (19:08):
I know that he is a star, right and like
you want revenge, come on, it's you're gonna hit.

Speaker 2 (19:14):
Someone, hit someone else. And also the thing with Show
Hey is he was so classy about it. It's such
a nice he's such a nice guy. The second time
he got hit, he waved off the dug out. There
already been like one clearing dugout. That night he waved
off the dugout. He went to talk to the Padres players.
He shakes hands with the first baseman, like he's such
a class act. And then you have Manny Machado after

(19:36):
the game saying the Dodgers better pray that Fernando t
has teases X rays come back negative. They better light
a candle while the candle worked to tease from the lineup.
Last night against the Royals, a game the Padres lost
by the way, but you know, that's neither here nor there.
It's funny because Dodgers Giants historically has been the rivalry,
but the Padres I for me, I disliked the Padres

(19:58):
way more than I disliked the Giants.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
And now everybody's just turned their attention to August. Yeah,
those tickets prices have to be like soaring, because I
want to know what's happening next, Like, yeah, this is
what fans want to see, right. It's like, sometimes you
go to a game, and especially we see this a
lot in the NBA. Sometimes you buy tickets, you go
to a game, and ticket prices are so expensive, so

(20:22):
sometimes maybe you can only afford one game a season
and you go to see your star player and they're
not playing right and it's so frustrating. And sometimes it's
like the players are just in there and they're going
through the motions. You hate to see that. As a fan,
what I want to see is these players humanized.

Speaker 2 (20:38):
And you don't really see that in baseball, no, and.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
Not recently, Like it used to be like this way
back in the day, but recently we haven't seen this.
And people say, like, oh, baseball, you know, the sport
is dying We saw them with the pitch count and
the clock and trying to do things to get people
and fans back in stadiums. But now this is gonna
get people's attention.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Like I love it. And they're playing similarly in August,
where they're playing each other multiple times within like a
ten day period. I'm so curious to see if the
league issues awarding like before the series, because Suarez got
kicked out, thrown out after hitting show Hay, which I
fully agree with.

Speaker 3 (21:16):
We just don't you agree with like this, How long
he suspended?

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Yeah, I think three games is right. I think both
managers being suspended one game was correct. I think three
games right now because I only didn't intentionally throw at him.
He threw it him in a place that you don't
intentionally throw it a player in this bag, and that's
just not It's just not cool. And I'm not just
saying that because it's show Hey. But you know who
is cool who? And who was wearing the best well, yes,
but who's wearing the best hat ever? Today? That would

(21:42):
be the great Martin Weiss, who's gonna give us an update. Thanks,
you're welcome.

Speaker 7 (21:47):
Earlier today, with some of the Yankees hit four home
runs starting to Patrick Clark. Schmidt had a no hit
or going to the seventh inning, ended up getting pulled.
Yankees only gave a one hit on the day, beating
the Baltimore Orioles nine ten nothing. The Rays beat the
Tigers eight to three. Tampa's won twenty two of us
last thirty games. Games in action right now, top of
the ninth the Brewers with a nine to nothing lead

(22:08):
over the Twins. Bottom of the eighth inning, the Red
leave the Cardinals five to two. The Mariners trail said
I'm sorry. The Cubs lead the Mariners six to ten
to six and the top of the sixth.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
Bottom of the sixth inning.

Speaker 7 (22:20):
The Blue Jays with the four to one lead over
the White Sox, Rangers, and Pirates scoreless in the bottom
of the second on FS one. Going to the top
of the third inning, San Francisco leads Boston one to nothing.
The Braves lead the Marlins won nothing at the top
of the second inning Boston. The Red Sox are pausing
cutter Crawford's rehab due to a wrist injury. The twenty
nine year old hasn't pitched all season. He was in

(22:43):
the second rehab stent. Then the Braves have placed any
Nlsy Young Award winner Chris Saale on the fifteen day
injury list.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
He's got a fractured left ribcage.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Back to you, guys, that sounds super painful. You can
stream this show and all of our shows on the
on Fox Sports Radio Live twenty four to seven in
the new and improved iHeartRadio app. Just search Fox Sports
Radio in the app to stream us live. And one
of the newest features in this app is that you

just like the presets on a radio dial. So be

(23:14):
sure to preset Fox Sports Radio in the iHeartRadio app
and it will always pop up at the top of
your screen. Bridget, we talked a lot of NBA Finals,
but we're gonna talk some more because our guests, Andrew
Schlecht of The Athletic, who covers the Thunder, is here
to help us preview Game seven from his perspective. Andrew,
Welcome to the show.

Speaker 8 (23:35):
Thanks for having me absolutely well.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Welcome back. Actually, you were here with Nicky and I
kind of earlier in the playoffs, so so welcome back.
So Bridget and I were talking a lot Bridget feels
strongly that the Pacers have a little something extra going
on in terms of focus. You're around the Thunder obviously
all of the time. What are you seeing from them?
And what did you see from them after Game six
that makes you think they can pull off the Game

(23:58):
seven victory.

Speaker 8 (24:00):
Yeah, they've had these games throughout the playoffs where they
just kind of lay an egg. They did it even
against Minnesota. It's not like that they've played like a
great series, but they played pretty awful in Game four
that led to them really bouncing back big. And the
thing that I think the Thunder so confident about is
that they always respond. I think they have always had

(24:22):
a really good like response to to like what the
Pacers have done, but a lot of times they have
trouble responding in the moment, and so I think they
go back to the drawing board, make some adjustments, and
then they typically respond after a loss. But I tend
to agree like the Pacers played is much greater focus
than the Thunder did. And I don't know if some

(24:44):
of that is this Thunder knew they had the backstop
of a Game seven, whereas the Pacers were playing for
their lives. But yeah, the thunder. When this thunder show
their age, it's in moments like this where there's not
enough focus, there's too many turnovers, there's not they don't
really moved the ball very much, and then the defense
doesn't have the detail that usually does.

Speaker 3 (25:04):
Were you in the locker room after that loss?

Speaker 2 (25:07):
I was.

Speaker 8 (25:08):
I was intentionally in there because you can, you can
really be in two different areas after these these playoff games.
You can go to the podium and wait for guys,
or you can go into the locker room. It's like I,
after an embarrassment like that, I'm going to go park
myself in the locker room. And it was it was quiet.
I don't know if i'd call it somber, I would

(25:29):
just say it was really quiet in there. There was
like some like talk here and there from guys. I
didn't see anybody that was like despondent, but like they
knew what that that they had messed up, and I
think that they're ready to respond. But yeah, mostly mostly
just pretty quiet in there after that after that loss.

Speaker 3 (25:50):
So you I assume you cover this team all the time.
Were there after the game one loss?

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Like?

Speaker 3 (25:55):
What was? Were there any similarities in the locker room
after both of these losses, And was there something you
saw in the locker room after game one that led
you to believe they would respond in game two? And
was that apparent after Game six? Like are there any
similarities there?

Speaker 8 (26:11):
Yeah, I mean they're they're pretty similar after any loss, honestly,
like regular season or postseason, Like they they stay pretty
steady that That's one of the things about this team
is there's not really anyone on the team that's really
that emotional, Like they don't have anybody that's gonna kind
of get out of control or get upset in moments

(26:32):
like that. I think that they all understand is they
all have the same goal and that you know, I don't.
I don't know that I The only real similarity that
I see is that they're pretty much this way after
any loss and so nothing nothing that I can truly
take away. And its under themselves are pretty good at

(26:55):
kind of holding their cards close to the vest, especially
if there's media or they're at the podium or anything
like that, Like they don't really want to give any
fuel to anybody, and they do a pretty good job
of that.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Andrew, do you think it hurts? I mean, Granted they're
in the NBA Finals and going to Game seven, so
maybe not. But do you think it's important for a
team to have somebody who maybe gets super emotional, super
riled up, not angry, but can kind of bring up
the other players in that way.

Speaker 8 (27:23):
I think that it's more important to have one of
those guys on the court than it is necessarily in
the locker room. I think one of the hallmarks of
this team is that they really try to be present
with their emotions and just overall, it's like that's kind
of one of their mantras is just to be where

(27:45):
your feet are, and they do a good job of that.
And part of this is like the type of guys
that they've selected to be honest, team all have like
some emotional intelligence and that's very intentional. Now Listen, if
I'm sitting here tomorrow night they lose this game, I
might feel a lot different. I mean, like, man, maybe
it's somebody in there to like freak out and like

(28:08):
break something after Team six, you know, but they win,
like you know, like winning just here is all and
it makes you look at everything through a different lens.
And so I mean I like this team a lot,
like personality wise and what they've built. They've obviously built
a very great team, but and some of this is too,

(28:29):
Like if they somehow lose this game tomorrow, I don't
think they're going to change anything about the players they
have or the way they built the roster. I think
they're going to continue on business as usual and they
would probably make the same moves win or lose tomorrow.
So I think if they do need a guy like that,
I'm not sure that guy's you know, coming down the fike.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Obviously, the Thunder has a chance to win their first
title or first since relocating, obviously changing their name to
oklahom a City Thunder. What is the city like heading
into game seven?

Speaker 8 (29:06):
I mean, you can't go anywhere right now. I mean,
my wife just got home from Target, and she's like
standing in line saying that like the person that checking
everybody out, just telling her, telling everybody how stress she is.
He's like, I just I can't even watch like the
last she's I can't watch until the last three minutes,
and if they're losing, I just don't watch like everybody.
He's on pins and needles right now, just hoping, you

(29:28):
know that they can actually pull this off because I
do think like it would it would change a lot
about like just the city, the way that the way
that everybody here, you know, thinks about it, you know, globally,
I think that would change the way that people think
about Oklahoma City if they're able to pull this off. Yeah.
I mean, you can't go anywhere without seeing a thunderflag.
You can't go anywhere without seeing somebody like having Shay's

(29:51):
face on a cookie. I saw somebody that had Shay,
Shane and Dort's face on like the top of like
a latte.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
You know.

Speaker 8 (29:58):
It's just like everybody is focus on the Thunder here
in Oklahoma City. It's a parent wherever you go. Uh,
It's it's a really cool time to be a Thunder
fan and a cool time, you know, to live in
Oklahoma City.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
And this is why I'm all in on the Thunder.
I love it. Everything you just said to me a
little bit, everything you just said goes to why I'm
all in on the Thunder. I would get a latte
with Shay's face on it so fast it would make
your headspin. Is hell with them?

Speaker 3 (30:24):
Where are the lattes with what the holy face?

Speaker 2 (30:27):
In Indiana? They're not. They're not in Oklahoma City, so
you obviously know the thunder best. But in these last
few games and you've gotten to know the Pacers a
little bit more, so what has impressed you about them
and what makes you think they'll be the ones to
pull off the wind tomorrow.

Speaker 8 (30:44):
They're just relentless, but they they just they relentless and
they don't die, and they're constantly finding little adjustments here
and there to make things work. I mean, Caliburton is limited,
but to most people, he didn't look limited because of
the way that they were coached and a lot of that.
You know, Rick Carlisle is just I mean, he's one

(31:05):
of the best ever and he's showing why in this
series is that there's not been one game tactically that's
look the same.

Speaker 5 (31:12):
You know, they.

Speaker 8 (31:14):
In game in game five, they're picking up Shane you know,
ninety four feet. In game six they're picking them up
a half court. Like they're just changing things all the time,
and they're kind of changing where like the man help
comes from. They're changing how they attack offensively. Halliburton, you know,
certainly wasn't like at his best, but he was finding

(31:34):
little tricks here and there. You know to score and
to really not elevate off of that hamstring like he's
or that calf. I mean, he's done a really good
job of just kind of picking his spots and finding
his ways. And then, like the thing about them is
like it's gonna be by committee. They're gonna win these

(31:55):
games by committee. That's how they've done it all seasons.
And they're going to win it with their defense too.
This is they've become and it doesn't look like it
personnel wise. On paper, this does not look like one
of the best defenses, but you watch them and they
are just relentless, creative and really one of the best
defenses I've seen. So if they can get threes to fall,

(32:17):
which will be a really big deal, and they can
continue to get bench scoring, I think that they certainly
have a shot.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
I want to go back to the thunder for a
minute and ask you about SGA. I know you're around
this team all the time. What is something that maybe
we don't see about him that you could share with
us and in your mind? Is he the MVP if
the thunder windmor or Sunday night, Yeah, I think.

Speaker 8 (32:39):
He's definitely the finals MVP. I mean he's been the
most consistent player on the team's I mean, he's the
driving force of everything they do. I think that most
people will if you watch him, like he's pretty serious,
pretty stoic, that you don't get a whole lot of
personality from him, especially at the podium and even in

(33:00):
like the sideline interviews, you don't get a lot. But
this is like one of the most joyful guys and
like one of the most fun people to be around.
I think that, like Jalen Williams does a good job
of exuding that all the time, and so you probably
think like the fun like goofiness is coming from him
and Shaye like maybe is like so professionally kind of
rolls his eyes, but like Shaye's part of that too,

(33:20):
Like he's a part of like the fun goofiness, Like
he's participating sometimes leading that you know, within this team.
So I think that's a side that not a lot
of people get to see, and I don't get I
wouldn't say I get to see it a lot, but
I'll get to see like a little glimpses of it
here and there, and it's pretty cool, Like you can
you can see how much these guys really look up
to him and you know, let him lead their group.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
Well, if they win torow night, I have a feeling
we are all going to see a very very joyful
side of Shay.

Speaker 8 (33:50):
Yes, yes, I hope. I hope they all will feel
like they can let loose a little bit because there
is like this and I think it's really good for
the for them as a team because you don't hear
much from you don't get much bulletin board material from
the Thunder, and a lot of that is like their
professionalism is top notch, and as like somebody that's following
the team, like that's not always the greatest thing. We

(34:12):
want fun stuff to talk about. We want you know,
clips that we can post and all that. But I
hope that they feel like they can let loose a
little bit, you know, if they if they witness thing,
and I would love to see specifically, I'd love to
see Mark Dagnelton, Sam Presty let loose a little bit
because they're they're very buttoned up and it's gotten them
to a great place. But man, I hope I hope

(34:33):
to see them celebrating if if they can.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Pull this off, well, we will be watching Andrew Schleck
from the Athletic. Thank you so much for joining us today.
Really good insight, and we will be back. This is
Fox Sports Saturday.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
We are coming to you live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios, and it is time for the dudes and
the don'ts.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
Oh I love that putting a spotlight on the don't.

Speaker 3 (35:01):
The subject brings me no joy.

Speaker 6 (35:03):
Don't.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
That's insane.

Speaker 6 (35:05):
Next time for the dues and the don'ts in sports.

Speaker 2 (35:09):
All right, bridget I am going to start with a
do that. We'll actually I gonna start with the d
that our last guests kind of put in my head
Andrew Schleck from the Athletic, and that is like the
Thunder's mantra, be where you are. Do be where you are,
don't focus on the past, don't focus on the future.
Be where you are.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
Motivation motivation from Tracy Sandler. Everybody.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Wow, you're welcome, pat in that.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
That's great. You know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna
go with the do as well. Do celebrate a must
win Game six victory by watching Love Island with your girlfriend? Okay,
do that? Because I mean, come on, do you watch
the Violin. Absolutely do you.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
I do not.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
Oh my god, Tracy, get out of here.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
I know my niece is wrong with you. My niece
told me the other day, she was like, Auntie, Tracy,
you really need to be watching Love Isolin. Are you
kidding me?

Speaker 3 (36:01):
You like drama?

Speaker 2 (36:03):
I do, except for the morment.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
What do you mean you covered the NFL. That's the
best reality TV there is.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
Maybe it's maybe it's.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
What I come on, Tracy, God.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
I liked the dogs. We really are I have a
do me show, Hey Otani, and be unbothered. Get hit
by a pitch. A couple of times he posts each
photo of him getting hit in his Instagram story that
he posts photos of his dogs. Wave it off, the dugout.

(36:33):
Just beho Tani and be like, you know what. You
can't bother me? You know why because I'm show, Hey Otani.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
I love how this works out, because my next one
is gonna fit in perfectly with that. Do not throw
at show, Hey Otani, public enemy number one in two countries.
Come on, do better than that?

Speaker 2 (36:51):
Do better? Don't throw at show? Hey, do better?

Speaker 3 (36:54):
Do better? He's show, Hey Otani, he.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
Is show, he Otani. Ah, don't be rude so I have.
As I mentioned earlier, the Padres manager saying to Andy Punnett, pause,
who do you think you are that we would even
throw at you? Don't be rude. There's no reason to
be rude. Why you gotta be rude right now? I
just threw with the guy, not a purpose, but you
hit him, so don't be rude.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
Like you're insulting him. But also like your picture clearly
sinks because you just hit my player. So yeah, do
show up for Caitlyn Clark like Sophie Cunningham did. She
needs Oh my god, no way, she needs the help.
She can't put this entire league on her back. Finally
a teammate is there to support her outwardly, Sophie Cunningham,

(37:38):
I mean, I'm not mad at her.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
I'm gonna I'll piggyback on it and do be Sophie
Cunningham and have some fun with it on TikTok because
there's a TikTok trend going around with a song from
Selena Gomez Can't keep my hands, Can't keep my hands
myself And then everyone says, I mean I could, but
why I let I want to? And that was funny
that she did and she said, and I'm obviously joking,

(38:01):
but they can't keep my hands to myself.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
I didn't see that.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Yeah, it's it's pretty cute. So I enjoyed the creativity.
I liked kind of the the tongue in cheek of it,
laughing at herself. It was fun.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
I do like this era of social media athletes. I
know some people don't, but it's so fun to be
able to get to know them what they're thinking in
real time.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:20):
So the fact that she did that, like, I kind
of like her even more.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
One hundred percent as of social media because her uh
followers have show a mill I think I think it
was like several hundred thousand on TikTok and I'd have
to look up the exact we can ask judge.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
That's what you get, hey, Yeah, that's what you get
for sticking up for Caitlyn Clark A million followers on Kaitlyn,
I'm sticking up for you. Yeah, where's my mail?

Speaker 2 (38:42):
One hundred percent. I like that. Uh, don't trade your
star players and upseate set your fan base time after time.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
Ooh, who you talking and who you're talking to? Remember
I'm from Boston, Tracy Well.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
I don't think you made the trade. I don't think
you traded Raphael Dover.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
I did have a say in it. I was screaming
up the TV.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
Exactly, screwed the tv. They you know they traded Mookie Bets.
Come on exactly.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
This is no, no, no, no. You want to know where
my madness goes.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
Please?

Speaker 3 (39:12):
Okay, So I told you guys, the reason I got
into sports was oh four Red Sox. I'm gonna tell
you this story real quick. I was so obsessed with
Johnny Damon. I had a cardboard cutout like six foot
tall Johnny Damon in my bedroom. When he got traded
to the Yankees, I was in like fifth grade. My
mom opened the door. She goes Bridge, I got some
bad news for you. I said, don't say it. She

(39:33):
said Johnny was traded. I said, don't say it not
She goes to the Yankees. I was devastated. That was
in two thousand and what five or six, like maybe
it was even four, I don't know. It was a
long time ago, and I am still mad at the
Red Sox and they just do this. That is what
they do.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
That is what they you know what, don't tick off
Bridge and Condon no.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Especially not. You want to know what I did with
his cardboard cutout.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
Oh god, I'm scared.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
We had a bonfire and hood bonfire and we all
burned our Johnny Damon cutout.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
There wasn't Johnny's fault.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
I was heartbroken. That was my first heartbreak. Imagine how
my dating life went since then. Thank God I'm married now.

Speaker 2 (40:10):
Thank God. Way to go, Johnny Damon. All right, you guys,
don't go anywhere. This is Fox Sports Saturday.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
We are coming to you live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios. I am Tracy Sandler with Bridget Condon. You know,
one of the things I love about doing the show, yeah,
the music.

Speaker 3 (40:30):
I was just like, I don't know if you can
see me, but I was over here be boppin'.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
Yep. It's just it's fantastic, so great, great job, dude.
The music is fun. I'm singing, I'm shoulder shaking.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
To you in the mood like it doesn't want to
be listening to us on Saturday afternoon. Put us on
in the clubs. In the clubs with this music, I mean,
come on, it makes you want to drop it layer And.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
You can also throw in a little what the helly.

Speaker 3 (40:54):
Can we get that song? Like? What's the deal? Yeah,
we need to work on it. If they win, we
got to be.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
Able to that's I would think that fhere's the copyright.
I don't know, but if I feel like if we
can play other things and if you can sing it, yeah,
at worst we'll just have you sing with the helly out.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
I gotta get some auto tune. But okay, then I'll.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
Be I'm down. I'm excited for this now, I'm now.
I'm ready for the pacers again. You back, But we're
gonna talk a little w NBA. There is a lot
been going on right there. I'm gonna start by saying,
and I know Bridgett mentioned earlier, but in case you
missed it, she is wearing a Los Angeles Sparks jersey
today and it is pretty spectacular.

Speaker 3 (41:29):
Let's go Cameron brink baby number twenty two. I look
good in purple. So I'm a big fan of the Sparks.
I don't really I never really had a WNBA team.
I guess the Sun growing up, okay, the closest team,
But since coming to LA, I've become a Sparks fan
and they are really entertaining a lot of great a
lot of great players on their team. Cameron Briank one

(41:49):
of my favorite athletes coming out of college, and so
it's been fun to follow her story as well. But
uh yeah, I mean, I just am so happy that
we're gonna be able to talk about the w I
don't want to jump ahead, but I have a lot
of thoughts on what went down this week in the WM.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
Y let's do it jump ahead.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
Okay, there's no you don't want to talk about the
Uh should we talk about the fan votes first?

Speaker 2 (42:10):
We could talk about the fan votes, We could talk
about all kinds of things, but yes, you guys. The
All Star Game is July nineteenth, right now. Caitlin Clark
and the feasts of Collier. Collier or Collier do you
know Khalier? I feel like it's Kllie, maybe it's Claire
either way, the top two fan vote getters at the moment.
But the game is not till July nineteenth, so there
is a lot of time. But I'm excited for that
game too. That's gonna be fun to watch, so much talent, fun.

Speaker 3 (42:33):
The fact that Kaitlyn Clark has so many more fan
votes already yet than everybody else thirty thousand more.

Speaker 2 (42:40):
It's a lot more, significantly more. Not surprising, of course,
but it's a it's pretty awesome, all right. I want
you to jump in to what you want to talk about,
because I know it involves Claitland Clark, and I think
I know you well enough to know what you want
to say. What do you think I'm gonna say? Think
you're gonna talk about what happened earlier this week with
her and then Sophia Cunningham coming to her defense, all
the things.

Speaker 3 (43:00):
I'd want to make sure we said. No, Fisa Collier, right,
it is Collie. It is Collie. You were right. I
thought it was and then you said it and I
was like, oh, I'm second guessing myself. You know we
second guess ourselves. Yes, we do, okay, So speaking of
being a woman, I do have a lot of thoughts
on that. So what happened in the game, if you
didn't see J. C. Sheldon poked Caitlin Clark in the eye,
leading to a flagrant fowl. Marina Maybury push Clark on

(43:23):
the floor, got a technical foul final minute. Sophie Cunningham,
we talked about her in the bottom of last hour,
fouled Sheldon hard led to a little bit of a
shoving match. Okay, so here are my thoughts. When I
initially think about this, you know, I'm like, oh, that's
a bad look for the w Like we want to
amplify them, we want them to focus on their skills

(43:45):
and athleticism, Like why is this so distracted? And then
I'm like, no, you know what, society still holds outdated
ideas about how women should behave. They want them to
be graceful and composed. So when they get labeled as
classless in a city situation like this, it makes us
turn our heads. And you know, this is why women's
sports isn't followed because they're just all about you know,

(44:06):
these pettiness and the drama, and they can't just focus
on the game. How about the NBA, how about NHL bras,
how about MLB.

Speaker 2 (44:17):
I was just gonna say what we talked about about
the other day. Everybody loved the benches clearing. He loved
a dugout clearing in the Padres Dodgers games. So why
is different protect your teammates.

Speaker 3 (44:27):
They say, that's the best part of the game. And
men's oh things just got shippy in women's sports. Oh
did it go too far? Is this ruining the game?
Those are the narratives, But the real competition and real emotion,
that's what the fans want. It reminds fans, Oh, these
players are human too. They are actually having just as
much passion about what's going on as I am as
a fan. It's not about women being too aggressive. It's

(44:48):
about us not being ready to let women express that aggression.

Speaker 2 (44:53):
Freely a men until that's allowed.

Speaker 3 (44:56):
Kaitlin Clark the entity that the incident that happened her
getting poked in the it's gonna continue to be breaking
news instead of just part of the game. So we
as a society have to let the women play like
the men. We want a quality. Let it happen and
don't say it's ruining the game. Even we have to
shift our mindset because even me initially, because society tells

(45:17):
us that that's not what women should do, my mind
went there and I'm glad that I had a minute
to think about it and realize, no, bring it on,
bring on the drama, like bring on the Angel Reese.
Caitlin Clark, I love it. You know it's gonna make
people watch, and that's what people want to see. And
it's not taking away from what they're doing on the court.

Speaker 2 (45:37):
Absolutely, not like any rivalry in any sport. You talked
about Yankees, Red Sox, you we talked about doctors, Padres, NHL,
all of these things. Like you want the rivalry, that's
what makes it fun. You want players on the court
to not like each other, to compete against each other.
It's funny. I actually when I saw what happened, I
was like, that away, Sophie. I loved it.

Speaker 3 (46:00):
We have her other teammates men.

Speaker 2 (46:02):
I don't know, but she really because they really have
not been there to stick up for her, to defend
not defend her, that's not the right term, but.

Speaker 3 (46:09):
How have her back? Who knows what happens in the
locker room?

Speaker 2 (46:13):
Yeah we don't. We don't really know. But I saw
it and I was like, thank god, it's good for her.
But you're right, this is part of the game. No
one would be upset about it if it was an
NBA game.

Speaker 3 (46:21):
And it's just frustrating because of course the other there
are women in the WNBA that have been putting in
the effort for years, you know, and they have been
trying to say, hey, look at what we're doing. We're athletic,
we have skills, Come watch us. And it hasn't worked.
And because of what Caitlyn Clark did in college, she
has brought such an incredible amount of viewers to the WNBA,

(46:42):
and some of the older women are jealous and upset.
But why why do you have to be mad that
she's the one who did it. We're talking about the WNBA,
we're talking about you as well as Caitlyn Clark.

Speaker 2 (46:55):
So why can't we as.

Speaker 3 (46:56):
Women like champion one another and this movement. Let them
be chippy, let them get mad at each other, but
also appreciate it, appreciate the shift, and appreciate the attention.

Speaker 2 (47:10):
I like that. I don't understand either. I think it's
it's good for everybody. It's good for the game. We're
talking about it. We're talking here, we are talking about it,
and we've been talking about it for a while, and
we talk about it pretty whatever. We're on the show.
We're talking about this every week. So do I think
it's amazing?

Speaker 3 (47:25):
I think this is only the beginning. But again, like,
let these feuds build, yes, because that's what's gonna sell tickets.
That's what I'm going to tune in for a watch sports.
You don't think I'm gonna tune in for the next
sun Fever game.

Speaker 2 (47:38):
Oh what happened? We said? And also, isn't that why
we want to watch sports? To see a team take
on another team and you root for one and players
take up player. I mean, that's that's why this is
why this show is.

Speaker 3 (47:47):
This isn't this isn't like finance bros Arguing in the office,
like we're talking about sports it's competition.

Speaker 2 (47:56):
Exactly, which finance ros may say that too, but you're
right right now, we're talking about sports, and it is
it is competition. I like it. Well, speaking of.

Speaker 3 (48:05):
No women, let me just say that go women.

Speaker 2 (48:07):
You know what I really wish is that your mic
wasn't attached to the stable and that you could just
drop it.

Speaker 3 (48:12):
Feel me over here, like I don't know if you
can hear my chair keeps going, I'm like getting into it.
She I Usually like when I am on TV, I'm
standing up, so it's a little uncomfortable for me to
be sitting down. If you make a stand, I might
have to get up and just like that way I
can you know, really get my point across.

Speaker 2 (48:28):
Where you're welcome to sand but you're doing you're doing
a good job. I love it. I absolutely love it.
I love that we're talking about this. I love that
you're wearing a Sparks jersey. I actually was looking at
your spars jersey and thinking, like, you look adorable. Yes,
that was the first thing I was thinking. And how
great you look in purple ye number one? Thank you?

Speaker 3 (48:47):
Oh ja go Dukes and the college colors.

Speaker 2 (48:50):
Oh they oh, look at that. So that's why you
look at a purple mhm Okay, I love that. I
was thinking I need to get a Fever jersey.

Speaker 3 (48:58):
I know I wanted a Caitlin Clark Kate. I do
want a Caitlyn Clark one.

Speaker 2 (49:01):
But Indiana, thank you very much.

Speaker 3 (49:04):
Oh yeah, don't you want her to win them to
win for her?

Speaker 2 (49:07):
Oh you make a really good point. I forgot about that.
The game, Well, she has her own game. She has
her own game, so I don't think so.

Speaker 3 (49:14):
But yeah, I was like, you know what, I got
to support the hometown team and Cameron Brink I'm a
fan of I love it. She's great on social too.

Speaker 2 (49:22):
She is great on social. She is really good on
social You're right, the social media age of athletes is
so much fun.

Speaker 3 (49:29):
I'm so happy that I'm I'm alive during this time.
Imagine if like Babe Ruth had TikTok.

Speaker 2 (49:35):
I that would be spectacular.

Speaker 3 (49:38):
I mean, come on, what do you think?

Speaker 6 (49:40):
You do?

Speaker 2 (49:41):
You think?

Speaker 3 (49:41):
I feel like he wouldn't be on social media, really
be one of those guys that's like.

Speaker 4 (49:45):
Ah no.

Speaker 2 (49:46):
But I think now everyone's gonna.

Speaker 3 (49:48):
I mean, Bill Belichick's on it, so Bill Bill Belichick's
on social media, Babe Ruth would be dancing on TikTok.

Speaker 2 (49:53):
I'm probably offending someone out there.

Speaker 3 (49:54):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
I would love to see bab Runes dancing on TikTok.
That would be amazing. AI might be able to have
ask our friend cheat chiev.

Speaker 3 (50:01):
You got Chatcha and I are back together?

Speaker 2 (50:03):
Okay, good, I'm glad you guys are back together. You
know what I think of your You know your your
boss and guys. Remember well he was on the Bucks
when he would do this. But remember Brady for a while,
he and Gronk, every time they would win, they would
do that little video. And I feel like the people
probably not like this, but I think he was kind
of he's he was an early adopter. I'll go with

(50:25):
that early ish. Yeah, you know who I think of.

Speaker 3 (50:28):
I think of Le'Veon Bell. Oh yes, remember he would
be like in the Steelers locker room filming crazy things.

Speaker 2 (50:38):
And he had a he was a career too, I think, right,
Oh yeah, don't discount his rack career. I'm not that's
I'm not. That was on my that was my bad.
I have all the albums, but I.

Speaker 3 (50:45):
Think of some some of these early early social media
stars and I'm just you know, it's fun. I mean,
it makes it's all marketing right, and it makes you
want to watch the games because of what you see
on social media.

Speaker 2 (50:59):
I think that's very true. I love that. I love that.
All right, let's talk a little bit more. WNBA Las
Vegas Aces seventh straight loss last night. They got their
star Asia Wilson back, and she said after the game,
We're going to continue getting our butt beat. I'm this
is a family show, so I'm saying butt beat until
we man up. And I think that was talk about

(51:20):
we were talking before about the thunder. Don't really have
anybody to do that, talk about light and of fire.

Speaker 3 (51:25):
Yeah, look, having her back after missing three games was huge.
She had a double double, twenty points, fourteen boards, three blocks.
They still lost yep, Okay, so you know they had
a one point lead early in the fourth, but they
struggled offensively in the final minutes. And good teams we
talk about it. You got to be able to close
out a game. And to me, if you are, you know,

(51:47):
if you have that kind of momentum going into the fourth,
what's going on?

Speaker 2 (51:51):
Is that a lack of focus? It probably is a
lack of focus. And you're right because you know, fancy
this lot. Oh, we keep losing all these close games
and teams say it a lot, and the reality is
when you keep losing those close games, you're just not
there yet. You're just not as good a team, because
good teams don't lose those games, especially when they have
the momentum going in.

Speaker 3 (52:10):
And is that coaching? Is that focus? Is it veteran leadership?
I don't know, but I do know her comments postgame
showed me that they are not happy. And usually when
you get that fire in you, that's kind of when
you see the shift happen. So I mean, hopefully they
can turn it around. The Aces have been one of
the best teams in the league for years, and they're

(52:30):
one of the most fun.

Speaker 2 (52:31):
But they've had a lot of changes. Yeah, they have
had a lot of changes. This is so fun. I've
loved I've loved this conversation and it makes me want
to go do a TikTok about how great women are.

Speaker 3 (52:42):
Go women? Is it Women's Month?

Speaker 8 (52:43):
No?

Speaker 3 (52:44):
No, it should be every month?

Speaker 2 (52:45):
Every month? Is women in the month? I would actually,
I would actually say that. Here, I got a question
for you. This might be putting you on the spot.
Oh no, I hope you are ready for this. Who
is your favorite sports TikToker? A favorite TikTok athlete? I
guess I could put it that way. Oh, oh, you
know who was?

Speaker 3 (53:03):
Why am I blanking on his name? The guy from
Duke basketball he's no longer on the team, painted his nails.
Oh my god, what's his name? He has the curly hair. Yes,
Jared McCain, Thank you so much. Jared McCain was one
of my favorite?

Speaker 2 (53:21):
Was he? Yes?

Speaker 3 (53:22):
And he was so much of my favorite I forgot his.

Speaker 2 (53:25):
Name exactly, that is how much you loved him. My
favorite is the guy in the Rams whose name I
have forgotten, but remember in the hotel room. He did
the Wicked dance on TikTok last year of the night
before a game, he did the Are.

Speaker 3 (53:39):
You talking about Conny Turner Kobe Turner?

Speaker 4 (53:41):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (53:41):
Yes, yes, he did the Dancing through Life Wicked dance. Yes,
he's great.

Speaker 3 (53:45):
I'm trying to think, like why are there? It's like
I'm not good on the spot. I don't know why,
but like why there has to be other ones that
were blanking on and people are probably screaming at us,
like how about so and so. I don't know, I
can't I'm blanking right now.

Speaker 2 (53:58):
I think we came up with two pretty good ones. Yeah,
though I sold me.

Speaker 3 (54:02):
Let me ponder it.

Speaker 2 (54:03):
So Connyhams can't keep my hands too much? So, I
mean I could, but why would I want to? But
you know what you guys want to do? You want
to stay right here because we'll be back. This is
Fox Sports Saturday.

Speaker 1 (54:15):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (54:19):
We are coming to you live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios. Tracy Sandler and Bridget Content. We were just
talking about TikTok and in the break, Bridget was filming
something and I asked, and I didn't mean for it
to come out as Judge hunseldus it do. But I
was like, what are you doing with that? And she
was creating content?

Speaker 3 (54:37):
Guys, in this world these days, you just got to
create content. Okay, that's just what you have to do.
But I can't even focus right now because I'm like,
I really felt like I was in the club with that.
Can we hit that one more time? I hope that.
Like you're spinning this right, Oh my god, yep, this
is pretty good man.

Speaker 2 (54:54):
You should be in the club like you gotta be
feeling good.

Speaker 3 (54:57):
It's two twenty and a's Saturday afternoon in La and man,
you could tell me anything right now with this music.

Speaker 1 (55:03):
We have to get ready and just pumped up.

Speaker 3 (55:05):
We've got forty eight hours to go here.

Speaker 2 (55:07):
I am fired uh man, fired up. That's good. I
think we should all be in They need as a trio.

Speaker 3 (55:13):
They need you in prime when the Pacers win. You
know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (55:17):
You get yourself Indianapolis. You can get yourself on a plane.
It's not so easy to get there, so you should
get on a plane. Like now. It's probably not ad
idea because if you're going to be there, it's not
easy to get to Indianapolis for make it work. You
got it, well, you will make it work, all right,
let's house this first segue. The Red Sox are in
an era of trying to make it work without Raphael Devers,

(55:37):
and the Giant looking good tonight are trying to make
it work with him. So Rafael Devers gets traded. We
talked about this earlier. Red Sox fans up in arms,
not happy. But now he's a Giant and the Giants
are playing the Red Sox this weekend. Last night he
goes over five, but today the Giants, the Red Sox
are speaking, are playing right now as we speak. And

(55:57):
he had a two run home run.

Speaker 3 (55:59):
That's got to be that's kinda feel so good.

Speaker 2 (56:01):
I think it feels real good.

Speaker 3 (56:02):
This is crazy though, being from Boston. I keep saying this.
People are like, shut up, we know you're from Boston.
I obviously follow like all the news stations up there, right.
And I saw a video of some photographers waiting for
him to arrive at Fenway. Okay, let's just talk about
this for a second. He was on the team plane
playing cards Sunday morning. They were about to go to

(56:25):
Seattle when he was told he was traded, gets off
the plane, takes a cab. Tracy, he took a cab
back to Fenway to I assume get his car.

Speaker 2 (56:35):
Baseball Stars, they're just like us, Well said, we would
take an uber hold on, hold on, I just have
so many questions.

Speaker 3 (56:40):
Why. Okay, First of all, are there cabs right by
the team plane, like you're telling me there's on a
black suv?

Speaker 2 (56:47):
Well, if they were at the airport, maybe he there
was probably the taxi line. The idea of it getting.

Speaker 3 (56:51):
Their plane is not in like the normal area.

Speaker 2 (56:54):
Yeah, I don't know what to tell you about this.

Speaker 3 (56:56):
Like what what a cab? He walked off the plane
like he didn't walk off the plane and then go
through logan.

Speaker 2 (57:01):
He feels like kind of an eighties movie where they'd
be like they like fire you and they're like, but listen,
I'll call you a cab or someone breaks up with
you and says that.

Speaker 3 (57:07):
You can't even get him an uber black apparently not
a lift black. Come on, there are many options out there,
a weay mo, I don't think they have those in Boston.

Speaker 2 (57:16):
I don't know. The cab is actually a part of
the story. I hadn't really focused on it and how
do you bring it up?

Speaker 3 (57:19):
It's really bizarre focused on it. But this is actually
kind of funny. What would you if you were him?
What would you want to be picked up in? I
think I would want a way mo, like I can't
talk to anyone right now.

Speaker 2 (57:29):
That's except I'm yeah.

Speaker 3 (57:30):
I think cab driver here, because he had to have
been on the phone with someone. He had been bothered.

Speaker 2 (57:37):
He had to have been bothered. Of course he was bothered.

Speaker 3 (57:40):
That is like, this man has been with the organization
for more than a decade. He was what sixteen when
he got into the Red Sox organization.

Speaker 2 (57:46):
I think bothered is probably the the.

Speaker 3 (57:49):
Nicet like, you're okay, so I signed with you when
I'm sixteen, over a decade ago. You take me away
from my card game, which like rude. At least let
them sell shit. I hope they weren't betting, Like, I mean,
come on, where's this?

Speaker 2 (58:00):
Yeah? Uh?

Speaker 3 (58:01):
You take me off the plane and you put me
in a cab, A cab the cab.

Speaker 2 (58:05):
The cab is now that you bring it up, the
cab is so.

Speaker 3 (58:09):
Like, what did he pay for? Did he have money
in his pockets to pay?

Speaker 2 (58:12):
I mean, who has cash, Like, do you take CoA?
Do you think they paid for it? The cabs take
venmo these days.

Speaker 3 (58:17):
What's the last time you've been in a cab tracy?

Speaker 2 (58:19):
It has been a while, but I'm wondering who paid
for the cabs, the Red Sox, the Giants, Raphael himself.
He had to have paid for it. That's just not cool.

Speaker 3 (58:25):
But like I hope he had.

Speaker 2 (58:26):
But at least I will say this, it's not like
he got cut. He did get traded.

Speaker 3 (58:30):
Just wild to think about, like we forget so often,
how cruel and how much of a business sports are.
I mean, what the first thing that comes to mind
is Cooper cup Yes, gets traded in the division to
the Seahawks after everything he did for the Rams.

Speaker 2 (58:49):
Luca Luca, your boy. My guys gonna bring up Lucas,
gonna find a way.

Speaker 3 (58:54):
How did I not get to that first? It is
a cutthroat business.

Speaker 2 (58:59):
It is, and this is why I will never ever
ever blame an athlete for taking care of his or herself,
holding out for what they think they deserve, because the
team will always take care of itself and they should
do that. It is a business, and that's it's not
show friends, show get at sho it's show business.

Speaker 3 (59:17):
You're showy.

Speaker 2 (59:18):
Well, I mean I was kind of alluding to that
because like Saho, but it's really.

Speaker 3 (59:22):
I mean, how do you think Angels fans feel about him?

Speaker 2 (59:25):
Well, I think Angels fans knew he wasn't saying on
the Angels Forever. I don't think that that was a
thing that was going to happen. I think they were
really happy to have him. I'm sure they'd still love
to have him, but he wasn't saying on the Angels
forever because he wants to win and he did and
now he's going to keep doing that.

Speaker 3 (59:40):
So but regardless, I'll be thinking about that cap like
that is my romance.

Speaker 2 (59:44):
I'm thinking about the car conversation. What was the car?
What kind of card?

Speaker 3 (59:47):
How do have been like spades?

Speaker 2 (59:48):
Right? I mean I don't know.

Speaker 3 (59:50):
It's not like Goldfish?

Speaker 2 (59:52):
What if it was Go Fish? Red Sox on the
plane like go Fish is spectacular.

Speaker 6 (59:57):
We need it.

Speaker 3 (59:58):
This is why you got to be creating content all
the time, because imagine the Red Sox were creating content
on that plane. And we saw behind the scenes of
what happened when he had to abruptly end his card game.

Speaker 2 (01:00:09):
Imagine the cab driver was creating content. Ooh, maybe he like, Hey, guys,
I'm here with Repel Devers, who just got traded. I'm
taking it back to the stadium to get his stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
Get ready with me, Well, I take Rafael back home.

Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
I get ready with me. It's amazing, Rafaelsha done it you. Hey, guys,
get ready with me while I packed my stuff and
head to Cali.

Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
Get ready with me while I get traded mid flight? Yeah,
get ready with me while I go take a cab
to find my car and then awkwardly do a walk
of shame back to San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
However, now he's on the Giants NL West. He hit
a homer.

Speaker 3 (01:00:43):
Thank goodness he did, because he wasn't looking good.

Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
Well, because this is the thing too, he's human. This
had affected him too, and leading up to the trade,
it's not like things were so like, oh, runky dory
and amazing like. Leading up to the trade, they were
changing his position, willy nilly, not giving him the respect
he feels he deserved. He said, I put up some
good numbers in Boston. I feel like I earned some respect.
If they would have asked me at the beginning of

(01:01:08):
spring train to play first base. That is what he
was talking about, because that was very controversial. Even though
I think he's now willing to play it for the Giants,
he would have played, so I don't know. The cab.
I find the cab the worst part of this whole thing.
A big yellow taxi took Malie.

Speaker 8 (01:01:23):
I like that.

Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
We're singing a lot. We're gonna do with the recording
contract after the show, And a big yellow taxi took
Devers away. Coming soon to a Boston radio station near you.

Speaker 3 (01:01:33):
No maybe, or come on to La give me big
time Tracy.

Speaker 2 (01:01:39):
But he's not any but okay, I'll give you La, Okay,
La is yours to a piano bar near you.

Speaker 3 (01:01:43):
I love that Devers came and went, I don't know.
I was God. I'll do better next time.

Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
You write the song. And the great Martin Wise is
gonna tell us what's happening in that game.

Speaker 3 (01:01:54):
Sing it to us, Martin.

Speaker 5 (01:01:57):
We'll get to that game and just a moment. That's
best I can do for you.

Speaker 7 (01:02:02):
I do better with like the quiet Storm radio was
to the bottom of the eleventh Cardinals five piece that
both teams have eight hits on top of the ninth inning,
the Mariners in the cub Chicago with a ten to
seventh lead.

Speaker 2 (01:02:15):
I'd be better doing that than actually singing I Love It.

Speaker 7 (01:02:20):
Rangers and the Pirates with a one nothing, one up
tie top of the sixth inning that game, guys were
just talking about Rafael Devers with the home run there.
The Giants with the only runs, scored three to nothing
over the Red Sox in the middle of the sixth inning.
Top of the fifth inning, the Braves lead the Marlins
two to nothing. About two hours of fifteen minutes way
from the Mets in the Phillies getting started that one

(01:02:41):
on Big Fox. Earlier today, we saw the Brewers pound
the Twins. Twins lost nine to nothing at home to Milwaukee.
The Yankees also another pounding nine and four solo home runs,
and the starting pitcher, Clark Snid had no hitter into
the seventh inning. As in New York into the eighth inning,
as New York beat Baltimore nine nothing. The Blue Jays

(01:03:01):
beat the White Sox at seven to one. The Right
Socks are pausing cutter Crawford's rehab.

Speaker 5 (01:03:07):
The picture has a wrist injury.

Speaker 7 (01:03:08):
He hasn't pitched so far this year, and the Braves
placed nl CY Young winner Chris Sale on the fifteen
day injured list.

Speaker 5 (01:03:15):
He's got a fractured left ribcage and oh.

Speaker 7 (01:03:21):
Caleb Williams today a fanatics fest was asked what he
liked about the worst fan base. I believe he goes
Green Bay. They suck, Oh Glad. I thought you guys
would be interested to find that one.

Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
H for sure, and I think he just really endeared
himself to the heart of every Chicago versus man. I
love it back to you guys, Thank you so much, Martin.

The Sporting Tribune, A Rashmark Cosey, friend of the show, Rash, Welcome.

Speaker 4 (01:04:09):
Back, Thanks for having me. Good to be on.

Speaker 2 (01:04:11):
Absolutely the first thing we want to talk about. Bridget
and I talked tou this offline. The Lakers have been
sold to Mark Walter, who now owns Lakers and the Dodgers.
Kind of what is the feedback you're getting as a
Laker fan. I'm excited, so grateful to GDI Bus the
entire Bus family for everything they've done, but kind of
excited for this next chapter.

Speaker 4 (01:04:31):
Yeah, I mean fantasy. I think any Dodgers fan obviously
is familiated with with what Mark Walter and that group,
the Guggenheimen Group has meant to the franchise in terms
of sparing no expense when it comes to, you know,
making the team a consistent contender. So I think that's
that's the biggest thing that the fans are going to
get here. It is a seamless transition, though. You know,

(01:04:52):
when Mark Walter and this group purchaseding twenty seven percent
stake in the team, it came with the provision that
they had the first right of refusal. So at that point,
I think people knew that the Bus family would would
would probably sell at some point, and that when this happened,
it really it would be a seamless transition. So again,

(01:05:13):
not too much will change in the short room. Guenie
bus will still be in charge. They will be they
will still be playing at Crypto dot Com Arena for
the foreseeable future. But the long term stability of the franchise,
it is in great shape right now.

Speaker 3 (01:05:27):
My question is, so we know that the new owners
they like to spend money. We saw what they did
with the Dodgers show. Hey, O, Tani what And I'm
kind of putting you on spot here, like what would
you want them who would you want them to go target? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:05:40):
I mean, you know, the unfortunate thing for Mark Walter
in this group, there is a salary cap in the NBING,
so it's not like they can go get whoever they want.
You know. The biggest thing that I would say to
kind of keep your like eye on is on, you know,
on the front office, on the executives. And I don't
want to target Rob the Lincolns, but actually think he's

(01:06:00):
done a good job. But I think the franchise has
generally historically not paid top dollar for scouting and uh,
you know, like assistant coaches and things like that. I
would certainly look for them to be in the running
if there's like a hot GM out there or like
an executive or like an assistant GM and things like that,

(01:06:20):
things that this franchise generally is not spent on. They
will do that now. So listen, if if they have
a championship team, they will keep that championship team together
regardless of the cap. With the unfortunate thing in basketball
compared to baseball, there is a cap.

Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
Here that that does make it a little bit more difficult.
But you look like you have something you want to say.

Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
No, totally difficult, but like sometimes they don't follow.

Speaker 2 (01:06:44):
It's the cap can be, you know, manipulated.

Speaker 3 (01:06:49):
Shall we say we see it all the time in
the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:06:51):
Yes, we do. We see it all the time. Well,
obviously you mentioned the Dodgers because they also own the Dodgers. Uh.
Big week this week, we had quite a week of rivory.
Bridge and I had been talking about it. Were you
at any of the games, Arash And I mean, this
rivalry to me, it's been building for a while and
now I feel like we are at full throttle. These

(01:07:12):
teams hate each other, the Dodgers and the Padres.

Speaker 6 (01:07:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:07:15):
So I was at the first couple of games. I mean,
certainly they're whin a show. K Otani pitched and again
I told everyone, I said, get there early. He's only
going to go pick one, maybe two to depending how
far he goes in. It was the season this was
planted back in twenty twenty in the bubble. Unfortunately they
didn't get to play on their home turf. But you

(01:07:37):
know when you obviously share the same division. But the
biggest thing, Tracy, is that when you go head to
head in the postseason and it's not one sided. Right,
the Padres defeated the Dodgers when they had a historic season,
and then you go to a year ago it was
the only team that I thought the Dodgers may not
beat it. It was in the division series and you
go to that game four where it's a bullpen game

(01:08:00):
to find a way to come back, and when that
when game became five. These teams hate each other, and
so again I think it's great for baseball, great for.

Speaker 9 (01:08:08):
These two teams.

Speaker 4 (01:08:10):
You just don't want to see anyone get hurt, right,
I mean they got a little like ugly at the
end there, But there is real hatred between these two teams.

Speaker 3 (01:08:19):
We talk about rivalries and you think of Red Sox
Yankees right for for decades, centuries honestly, but now with
the Lakers and the Padres. Why do you believe right
now in baseball that this is the best rivalry?

Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
And how Dodgers and what did I say? Lakers? Oh
my god, so I would actually like Lakers. I'm so
into that and I.

Speaker 3 (01:08:40):
Didn't even notice I said it, so thank you. But
but why why would you say this is the best one?
And does it even compare to Red Sox Yankees? How's
it different for people? Maybe don't see?

Speaker 4 (01:08:50):
Yeah? I mean so when when you have something that's
sustainable again, history matters, right, Like the Red Sox of
the Yankees goes back to like Babe Ruth and the
Giants of the Dodgers goes back to their times in
New York. This doesn't have those like low that long
of the history. All they have shared the same division
for years. But this roster, it's not like you have

(01:09:11):
to tell the stories of the fifties and the sixties
and the seventies and the eighties. These two franchises that
have been together. Certainly, the guys who have been together
since twenty twenty, they've been in these postseasons, they've been
in these games, and they really don't like each other.
The managers don't like each other, The players don't like
each other, and so when you actually are in the

(01:09:33):
thick of it, you can feel it. And so like
like this kind of boiled over a little bit sooner
in the seasons than I thought, because I was you
kind of work your way up, and then you get
into July and then to like August, and you know
they're going to probably play each other sometimes this postseason.
But it's that history, it's that shared history of these

(01:09:56):
two franchises.

Speaker 9 (01:09:57):
And it's also like Los Angeles is the same Diego.
You know, for years, like the Los Angeles didn't really
think about San Diego. San Diego does not like Los Angeles.
And now for the first time I can sure what
you say, because we generally if you're from Los Angeles,
you don't mind going to San Diego, you don't mind
thinking that first flighter. There is no some hatred Los
Angeles versus San Diego here.

Speaker 2 (01:10:19):
Would you say it's now a bigger riv at least
in the present day today, a bigger rivalry than the Giants.
Not historically and not forever, but at this moment in time.

Speaker 4 (01:10:29):
In the present day. Yes, And again it's not the
fan bases if Tracy has you know, if you go
to a Dodgers fan, they're gonna be like no, like
like like it's the giants. But the more important thing
is you talk to the players and the managers. Again,
there's not a nicer manager. There's not a nicer coach
than Dave Roberts. Dave Roberts hats Mike Swift and the

(01:10:50):
San Diego papers. I mean, for Dave Roberts to get tosked.
I mean again, we were all in the press box
going wait, did that really just happen? So when you
talk to the players, when you talk to the people involved,
there is a bigger hatred there. I don't know if
if that's yet the case with the fan base. I
know the Padres hate the Dodgers, but we're finally getting there, right, Like,

(01:11:11):
we're finally getting there where this is on par I
think at this point with Dodgers in the San Francisco.

Speaker 3 (01:11:19):
Guns, so the Padres decide to retaliate and hit show. Hey, Otani,
were you surprised that they chose to hit show?

Speaker 1 (01:11:27):
Hey?

Speaker 3 (01:11:27):
When you know you're now public enemy number one in
two different countries, That's okay.

Speaker 4 (01:11:32):
No, I knew they I might I think show hey
knew and that's why he reacted the way he did.
You're just thankful that no one got hurt. And I
think many munch shot up had a great line when
they hit for Neda fatis you better let your candle
and hope that he's not hurt, and thankfully he wasn't,
you know, badly hurt. Like you know, these things are
going to happen. You just don't want like someone to
get hurt where they fracture their you know, their like

(01:11:56):
rest or their hand and they're like out for an
extended period some time. So not surprised by that, surprised
by the reaction, I guess like he was smiling and laughing.
So again, I'm glad that that's okay, but I am
not surprised that you got him.

Speaker 2 (01:12:12):
Can we talk about that comment from Machado for a
second when he's and granted you're talking to someone who
really is not a fan of Manny Machado, and I
actually think I'm a Dodger fan at the moment, hates
the Padres way more than the giants, But that comment,
when they better pray and they better light their candle,
it's kind of a silly comment. What was he going
to do?

Speaker 4 (01:12:31):
Well, I meet you in the party question, Yeah, like,
what are you gonna do at this point? Like what
is the reality retaliation? Again? Being boiled over? You know,
it really was ugly there where you're just like like,
let's get back to baseball, Like you hit one player,
the other team hits one player, and then we move on.
Like it got to a point where like, as a

(01:12:51):
Dodgers fan, and certainly if you're a project is say,
you don't want to lose pretense. Fernando's the teams for
Manny Machado show you a ton of like you don't
want them to get hurt. Now you want to hit
them and they have their moment. Good. So yeah, Machado
as he has prone to his dude tracy as you know,
he was talking out of his you know what. So
he wasn't gonna do anything. But I'm just glad that that,

(01:13:14):
like everyone is okay.

Speaker 2 (01:13:16):
I am glad that everyone is okay to really quick show. Hey, Johnny,
start number two tomorrow. How much longer do you go
pitch more than an inning? What do you expect to
see there?

Speaker 4 (01:13:26):
Yeah, so Dave said he has at a pitch count
of about thirty. He kind of hit that in the
first inning his first outing. I don't think he'll go
much beyond that on Sunday, but I think he is, like,
it's going to just continue and then we're gonna see
that number rise where he goes to two inning and

(01:13:47):
then goes to three again. He returned a lot quicker
than we all thought. I think we were all targeting
sometime in late July. But he's back now, and I
think you probably agree with me. It's really like, it's
great that you pitched now, but the real goal is
for him to be healthy come October.

Speaker 2 (01:14:05):
One hundred percent of RASH thank you so much for
joining us. This was a lot of fun and we
will talk to you very soon.

Speaker 4 (01:14:12):
You guys are the best.

Speaker 2 (01:14:14):
We are Fox Sports Saturday. You're listening to Fox Sports
Radio once again. The tunes, the tunes are absolutely fantastic.
We are coming to you live from the Fox Sports
Radio studios and Bridget, we were coming to an end here,
which is sad because I love doing this with you,
but uh, we have our feel good stories this week.

(01:14:36):
I think the first feel good is that Bridget and
I are dancing to this song like again in the club.

Speaker 3 (01:14:41):
Doesn't it make you just want to stay at the
on the airwaves all day?

Speaker 2 (01:14:43):
Yes, it does.

Speaker 3 (01:14:45):
There's down of Bollywood for the air.

Speaker 6 (01:14:46):
Yet we need more of.

Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
It, we really, seriously, can we stay? Like come on, yeah,
Steve won't mind you care. See you're talking, so he
doesn't even know. He doesn't even know that we're staying.
We're taking over. I'm about to have to go salsa tonight. Yeah,
margarita and we go in salsa.

Speaker 2 (01:15:04):
That's a field good story right there. Yeah, that right
there is a field Go ahead, thanks Steve. All right,
we'll be with you all all day, which you guys
will feel really good about that bridge it. What is
your field good story of the week?

Speaker 4 (01:15:17):
All right?

Speaker 3 (01:15:18):
I love this one. After helping lead the Panthers to
their second Street Stanley Cup, captain Alexander Barkoff use the
Stanley Cup as a coffee mug at five am, knocking
on his neighbor's doors. Actually he like rang their their
ring to share a joyous cup of coffee.

Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
I love that.

Speaker 3 (01:15:35):
Literally, how amazing is this? The ring video is funny.
I don't know if you've seen it. It's on Twitter.
Go check it out. He walks up to his neighbors
door rings the ring and obviously like, also, I'm so
happy that we live in an era for ring cameras
capturing video like this. He has the Stanley Cup. Imagine
being his neighbor, you gotta wake up if your doorbell

(01:15:57):
is ringing at five am. You're probably like, oh God,
just let them leave the package on the door. I'm
gonna stay asleep. Imagine you just thought that and you
look at the app and it's Alexander Barkoff with that
Stanley Cup.

Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
That would be amazing. I would invite him in for coffee.

Speaker 3 (01:16:12):
I'm mad I don't live in his neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (01:16:14):
That's fair because that would be incredible because you imagine, like,
who would be someone that would knock on your door? Athlete?
Who would be your favorite athlete to knock at your
at five am? Where you'd be like, oh my gosh,
this is so cool. We're having coffee together.

Speaker 3 (01:16:25):
I want to say, Tom Brady, come on.

Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
That's fair. I'll give you Tom Brady, who show hey
for you somewhere between Shohe and Luca. Okay, I think
it would be somewhere if they came together.

Speaker 3 (01:16:36):
You know, I might say, Kawhi Leonard. You know, I
don't know that we've dived into this. How big of
a Kawhi Leonard fan?

Speaker 2 (01:16:42):
I am. We definitely have not had no idea.

Speaker 3 (01:16:44):
This is so weird. My MBA fandom is all over
the place. Don't tell the Celtics. I am obsessed with
Kawhi Leonard?

Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
Are you?

Speaker 3 (01:16:51):
I am obsessed? Someone asked me the other day who
would be your like die hard athlete to meet? Because
I have met Tom Brady now, I met him this year,
and I've met you know, covering sports, you meet you've
pretty much met everybody that is like big name or
been around them. Yeah, and you know, you you learn
how to not be starstruck and things like that. I
think i'd be starstruck if I interviewed Kawi Leonard like

(01:17:12):
I would just love it.

Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
That's amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:17:14):
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:17:14):
If he might be more talkative over coffee than he
is in other places we see him.

Speaker 3 (01:17:18):
I think that's why I like him, because he's so
like not doctor, He's.

Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
So what would you do if he sat down and
he was like a full on chatty cathy.

Speaker 3 (01:17:26):
I think I would love it, Like my I'd be like,
oh okay, let's go. Let's talk about Love Island.

Speaker 2 (01:17:32):
He's watching, He's for sure watching Love Island.

Speaker 3 (01:17:34):
He's watching.

Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
Okay, I need I need to watch it. I mean,
my niece told me. You've told me, but you got
to watch decided. You know it comes out every night, right,
so you have to binge now, like sixteen episodes before
you can watch tonight. Oh okay, can I watch like
a cliff notes?

Speaker 3 (01:17:51):
But you gotta get it all? It's amazing. Why would
you want to skip through it?

Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (01:17:55):
All right, anyways, what do you feel good about?

Speaker 2 (01:17:57):
I feel well. I feel good about first of all,
that I'll be in my house for the night, sixteen
hours watching Love Island.

Speaker 3 (01:18:01):
And some of the episodes I think are over an hour.
So just prepare yourself.

Speaker 2 (01:18:04):
Okay, so nobody call me. I am not available for
the next sixteen hours they do. This is as you
you as funny as you were saying that, I was like,
I watch the Dodgers every night. How am I also
going to catch up on the violin? I literally was
the thought going through my head. Oh god? So my
feel good story is something we talked about earlier. Sophie
Cunningham and her her social media has risen. Her jersey

(01:18:26):
at the teap Store is listed is unavailable until July eighth.
I love that for her. She now has more than
a million followers on TikTok seven hundred and thirty thousand
followers on Instagram. I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:18:38):
That's what you do for sticking up for Caitlin Clark.
Everybody else jump on board.

Speaker 2 (01:18:42):
What do you do? You know what some of the
fans are calling her? Oh what the enforcer? Oh okay, right,
love it. I would stick up for you for something
if it meant I would have a million followers on TikTok.

Speaker 3 (01:18:52):
You know what, Tracy, I would stick up for you,
even if it meant losing all my followers.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
Well, now I feel bad, may I should? I still
sticking by.

Speaker 3 (01:19:00):
My original all my three followers.

Speaker 2 (01:19:04):
I would stick up for you, no matter what it
would mean. I would lose unless it was my dogs.

Speaker 3 (01:19:09):
Oh back to the dogs.

Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
I didn't know.

Speaker 3 (01:19:13):
I didn't even call back, call back.

Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
I just truly meant meant that. But that was a
good callback.

Speaker 3 (01:19:19):
So what we have to work on, you know, moving forward,
is me liking dogs you you like in the pacers? Yes,
and uh, trying to get a Sophie Cunningham shirt. Yes, jersey,
and also a Kaitlyn Clark jersey. I'm going to be
owning all kinds of fever jerseys into it next time
you're in here, next time we do this, we gotta
wear Kaitlyn Clark jerseys.

Speaker 2 (01:19:37):
I'm down or Sophie Conningham. I'm totally one thousand percent
down with.

Speaker 3 (01:19:42):
I mean, I mean, anything better than this black T shirt.
You got on, this plain black shirt.

Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
I know it's so unlike me. Come on, I don't,
are you the fangirl I am? I need. I could
wear my Luca sweatshirt. I could wear my Vander sweatshirt.
Anything else you feel good about? JJ McCarthy, Oh yes,
I mean generally I do feel good. Gaguation McCarthy. But
you know what, Okay, this isn't necessarily feel good. I
just thought this was kind of fun. So Clayton Kershaw,
you know his pitching. I'm showing it to Bridget now

(01:20:07):
he puts his hands up. And then so last night
and he's recently back, he's been pitching. Well, he did
it as the fans were doing the wave, and it
literally looks like he's doing the wave with him and
it's a lot of fun. We have had so much
fun today. Next up you have Steve Hartman and Jeff Schwartz.
